Wide receiver Jordan Lasley never got on the field during his rookie season with the Ravens and the 2018 fifth-round pick’s stay with the team ended on Wednesday Womens Derek Carr Jersey , but he’ll get another chance to get his NFL career going in Oakland.Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Raiders have claimed Lasley off of waivers a day after Lasley was dumped from the Baltimore roster. That decision came a day after Lasley got in a practice fight with defensive back Cyrus Jones and threw a football into a pond near the practice field after catching a touchdown.Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said those incidents didn’t lead the team to cut Lasley, who Harbaugh said was not as good a fit for the team’s revamped offense as other receivers bidding for jobs this summer.Lasley may face the same fate in Oakland. Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, J.J. Nelson, Ryan Grant, fifth-round pick Hunter Renfrow and undrafted rookie Keelan Doss all joined the team this offseason while Marcell Ateman and Dwayne Harris both return from last year’s team. It’s catching. Obviously that’s the primary job of a receiving corps. For the Raiders receiving corps, catching takes on a double meaning. There’s a new energy in the building with Antonio Brown..." Obviously that’s the primary job of a receiving corps. For the Raiders receiving corps, catching takes on a double meaning. There’s a new energy in the building with Antonio Brown leading the group. Catching that energy is key to the success of the entire unit.Watching practice, Brown stands out. He carries himself differently and plays at a speed you only see from a player with his elite talent, playing at a level they can aspire to and setting an example for his teammates to try to follow.“If you’re in that group, especially if you’re in that wide receiver group, you’re going to have to jump in and follow his lead,” said Raiders offensive coordinator, Greg Olson. “And again, he doesn’t ask them to do anything that he doesn’t do. . . even though his experience in this league has been so [extensive], he still practices at a very high level.”It’s a completely rebuilt wide receiver room this year. Along with Brown, the team added veterans Tyrell Williams, Ryan Grant, and JJ Nelson and drafted Hunter Renfrow. Each of whom bring something different to the table to make for some great competition. But more so, they’re trying to bring out the best in one another.“We’re bringing the juice, challenging each other every day, competing and just holding each other accountable Womens Bo Jackson Jersey ,” said Brown. “Knowing what to do, knowing how to do it, and bringing the meetings to the practice field, and being able to execute.”“I’ve been putting some good finishes on tape. Challenging the group and I think it’s contagious for the young guys to see the level of passion, the level of finishing in regard to how I bring it to the field, and we gotta continue to inspire each other as a whole while we’re out here.”It’s always been the way the enigmatic receiver’s outspoken personality that has been so polarizing. His work on the field, whether it be in meetings, practice, or the game has not come under question. He attacks every drill full speed and with precision, routinely getting a step on his defender. From there it is just the job of the quarterback to put the ball where it needs to be.In team sessions at Tuesday’s OTA practice, it seemed more often that it was either Mike Glennon or Nathan Peterman throwing him passes as opposed to Derek Carr. Both backup QB’s had passes to Brown fall incomplete; one slightly overthrown, the other slightly underthrown and knocked down by safety Dallin Leavitt. It was Glennon who finally threw a ball right on target, and despite some fine coverage fromGareon Conley on an out route to the right sideline, Brown snagged the ball just past Conley’s outstretched arms and tapped his toes on along the sideline. In this regard, the contagious energy and challenging that is happening extends to the other side of the ball as well being that the Raiders defensive backs have to face off against Brown every day.“Some competitive guys. Some long corners. Love to compete,” Brown said of facing Raiders Conley and Daryl Worley. “Between plays [we’re] talking about a play we made or didn’t make and it’s a constant challenge with those guys and competing and getting each other better.”Conley and Worley will obviously get the most work against Brown, but the Raiders plan to move Brown around, including playing him in the slot. That’s where the team’s new cornerback Lamarcus Joyner will be making his presence felt. We’ve seen Joyner line up on Brown a few times already, including last week when the Raiders tweeted out a video of Derek Carr hitting Antonio Brown deep with Joyner just barely unable to get to it. The veteran defensive back is no stranger to the competition and that match-up should be a fun one when it happens.“It’s been awesome,” said Joyner of facing Brown thus far. “You don’t get the opportunity too often to go against a specimen like that. An elite player and to be able to match up with him in the slot with this great division of slot players, that’s going to get me better and it’s going to make him better as well.”It’s all about passion for Brown, which is part of the reason he and Jon Gruden were drawn to each other. Every player when asked about Gruden says they knew he was passionate, but that they were surprised at how he never seems to run out of energy and by just how much he loves football. You hear echoes of that in how they talk about Antonio Brown. It’s early yet. Perhaps by minicamp in June or training camp in late July we will really start to see the overall receiving unit show signs of rising to the occasion so Brown doesn’t look quite as head and shoulders above the rest of the group.Follow @LeviDamien

Forget what Patrick Mahomes is doing in Kansas City. Forget Drew Brees and his continued excellence after all these years. Forget what both Jared Goff and Todd Gurley are doing for the undefeated Rams.Okay. Don’t actually forget them. They are incredible and deserve praise. With that being said Womens Sammie Coates Jersey , the dinner table for this season’s most valuable player candidates just got a new guest. His name is Deshaun Watson. He is here now, and I expect him to be seated at this table for the majority of the next decade.Thursday night’s win at home against the Miami Dolphins was must-see television. The second-year quarterback made big play after big play. He finished 16-20 with 239 yards, 5 touchdowns, and a 156.0 passer rating. He was a man amongst children as he led the Texans to their fifth consecutive victory. He extended several plays with his legs, including a fourth-and-goal touchdown to Jordan Thomas that was a thing of beauty. The way this man maneuvers around with his legs, shrugs off defenders, and finds the open receiver is reminiscent of Madden ‘04 Michael Vick.Alright. Maybe that is an exaggeration.Deshaun Watson is like a cross between Cam Newton and Russell Wilson. What more can you say? He is athletic, strong, mobile, and quick. It’s unfair.Watson is the reason the Texans have recovered from an 0-3 start to win five in a row. He’s the reason they’re leading their division and emerging as a real contender in the AFC. Watson has been gutsy. He has been clutch. He is the leader of this team. The guys go to war for him and whenever #4 is on the field, the rest of the Texans know and believe they can win. This is a 23-year old quarterback coming off an ACL tear. Right now, he is playing with a cracked rib and a bruised lung, injuries so dangerous that the Texans made him take a bus to Jacksonville two weeks ago because they were concerned he would not be able to handle the air pressure from flying with the team. Watson cannot even laugh without feeling a sharp pain, but instead of taking the time off to recover, he goes out onto the field behind a makeshift offensive line and rallies the troops.Watson is on pace for over 4,000 yards passing http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authe...hal-jersey , 30 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. The turnovers are a little high, but he is a gunslinger. He is a big play quarterback. That style of play is how he finished runner-up in the Heisman Award voting twice. It’s what beat Alabama in the National Championship Game, and it is why the Texans moved up to select him with the twelfth pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. It is why a Thursday Night Football game with Brock Osweiler playing for the other team was one of the most entertaining games of the 2018 season so far.To place a title such as Most Valuable Player on a player after one game is an overreaction. But it was not just this game that makes Watson’s case. It was just this game that displayed on national television how special of a player he is, and it should make fans question how ten other teams passed up on a pot of gold (the eleventh team being the Kansas City Chiefs, who may well have gotten their own superstar quarterback in Patrick Mahomes). Houston fans were treated to an incredible six-and-a-half game stretch last season when Watson was taking the league by storm before he tore his ACL n practice. He had people mentioning his name for MVP then, as a rookie. Right now, we are seeing Watson’s growth. We are seeing maturity, leadership, smart decision-making, and an assassin under center. Most importantly, we’re seeing a man who continues to be the savior of an organization that has never had a true franchise quarterback... sorry, Matt Schaub. Most teams that start 0-3 would be dead in the water. Not this team. They are tough, resilient, and have the pedigree to challenge other worthy foes in the AFC. It’s no coincidence that the Texans have never found themselves in this position until they got Deshaun Watson. The other candidates for MVP have been incredible, and they deserve respect. Patrick Mahomes Womens Jordan Thomas Jersey , Drew Brees, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and Philip Rivers have all been excellent. It will be difficult for Watson to jump over them, but he is working on improving his vertical right before our very eyes.It is starting to look like this league is Deshaun’s dinner table, and the other guys are just eating at it.Watson has entered the MVP race. Do not expect him to exit that race.Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports HOUSTON (AP) — Houston’s impressive turnaround after a 0-3 start ended in disappointment with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the wild-card round.Still, the Texans remain optimistic about their future because they’re confident they’ve finally found their franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson after years of misfires at the position.“Every position is important … but you have to have a quarterback, and we have a quarterback,” coach Bill O’Brien said on Sunday. “There’s no doubt in my mind that we have the type of person and the type of quarterback that you need here to win in this league.”Watson’s play has been a revelation for a team that has started 11 different quarterbacks since 2011. The 12th overall pick in the 2017 draft started each game this season after he was limited to just seven games as a rookie after tearing a knee ligament in practice. He threw for 4,165 yards and 26 touchdowns this season to become the second player in team history and first since Matt Schaub in 2012 to throw for 4,000 yards. He added 551 yards rushing and five touchdowns to become the first player to have at least 4,000 yards passing and 25 touchdowns and 500 yards rushing and five scores in a season in NFL history. He was disappointed that he was unable to move the offense effectively on Saturday, but is looking forward to what this team can do next year and beyond.“The organization, (its) future, it’s bright,” he said. “Hopefully I’m a part of it Womens Nick Martin Jersey , for sure, for a long time.”While the Texans know they’ll have Watson for the next few seasons, they have a big decision to make on the other side of the ball with defensive end Jadeveon Clowney becoming a free agent. The top overall pick in the 2014 draft shook off injuries that plagued the early part of his career to make the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons.Clowney joined J.J. Watt to form one of the league’s most fearsome pass rushing duos this season and he had nine sacks after having a career-high 9½ last season.O’Brien wouldn’t say what their plans for Clowney are, but he had plenty to say about his development as a player.“I think very highly of him,” O’Brien said. “I think he’s a disruptive player …when he feels good, health-wise, and he’s ready to rock and roll, he’s hard to handle. Him in combination with J.J. and the other guys, it’s a tough front.”If the Texans can’t or don’t want to work out a long-term deal with Clowney they could use the franchise tag to keep him in Houston for one more season. Clowney said he hasn’t thought much about free agency, but that he’d like to remain with the Texans.“We were a lot better than what we played (Saturday),” he said. “Of course I want to come back and show everybody that with this team. But that’s up to them.”Along with getting Watson back after a season-ending injury, the Texans also received a boost from the return of Watt after he’d played just eight games over the previous two seasons because of injuries. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year earned All-Pro honors in a season when he had 61 tackles, led the AFC with 16 sacks, had 25 quarterback hits, 18 tackles for losses and forced a career-high seven fumbles, which tied for the most in the NFL. It’s his fourth season with at least 15 sacks Brandon Dunn Jersey , which ranks second in NFL history behind Hall of Famer Reggie White, who had five.“The last two years all I wanted to do was just play,” he said. “I just wanted to play and not even necessarily at the highest level. I just wanted to play. Now it’s exciting to be back where I’m playing at a very high level and I say: ‘OK I don’t want to just play. I want to be dominant and great and the best.'”Also on Sunday, receiver Demaryius Thomas spoke to reporters for the first time since a season-ending Achilles tendon injury on Dec. 23. Thomas was traded from Denver in October after Will Fuller tore a knee ligament. The four-time Pro Bowler has one year remaining on a five-year, $70 million contract signed in 2015 and it’s unclear if the Texans will want to keep him on the roster with such a high salary.“That’s a tough injury,” O’Brien said. “He knows that. He’s (over) 30 years old. That’s not easy to come back from, but he’s going to work hard. He wants to play again. He made that statement to me, and we’ll see how it goes moving forward.”The Texans are also looking ahead to this year’s draft where they’ll have three picks in the top two rounds after not having a draft pick until the third round last year because they shipped their top two picks away to get rid of Brock Osweiler and trade up to get Watson in 2017.But O’Brien said he’d need a little time before he starts thinking about the future after how his team’s season ended on Saturday.“I’m not trying to overstate this (but) I felt terrible about (Saturday) that I couldn’t get that team to play better than they did,” he said. “That’s something that will stick with me for a long time, and I’ve got to figure that out. But definitely, at some point in time pretty soon here I’ll get a second wind and get excited about helping (general manager) Brian (Gaine) (with) … the draft.”

win, the Bears dropped four-straight games.

At 13-3 and 12-4 Womens Danny Amendola Jersey , the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears respectively were both titans of the NFL last season. However, their 2019 campaigns, so far, have gone much differently, and they will look to gather some ground tonight on Sunday Night Football. The Los Angeles Rams are sitting at third in the NFC West, and they have taken a backseat to the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, both of whom have eight wins a piece. Coming off a Super Bowl loss, the Rams might have to compete for a Wild Card spot if they want to get back to the big dance. They are coming into tonight’s game in disappointing fashion. They secured two victories over the lowly Falcons and Bengals, but last week was an offensive let down Golden Tate III Jersey , scoring only 12 points against a stout Steelers defense. Jared Goff was off all night, and their only touchdown came on a fumble recovery early in the game. The Chicago Bears are entering tonight’s game with a win versus Detroit last week, but it has not been pretty for them them thus far. Prior to last week’s win, the Bears dropped four-straight games. While their defense has remained an excellent unit, the offense has struggled immensely. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has not proved his doubters wrong, and coupled with an injury to David Montgomery, the Bears might be lacking an offensive punch tonight. Here is how to watch tonight’s gameBig Grinate: Sunday, November 17, 2019Time: 8:20 p.m. ETLocation: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum—Los Angeles http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic...ead-jersey , CATV: NBCAnnouncers: Al Michaels (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst), Michele Tafoya (sidelines)Online: NBCSports.com “Elite” is an elusive term when it comes to judging NFL quarterbacks. Nobody really seems to have a strict definition for it, but everyone certainly has an opinion on who is and who isn’t elite. Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur threw his hat into one of the most popular football debates on Thursday, when talking about Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. “You know, Matthew Stafford, I think he’s an elite quarterback,” LaFleur said via teleconference. “He’s a natural thrower, he’s extremely accurate. I haven’t really gone against him too many times on teams that I’ve been on http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic...son-jersey , but we all watch the same tape and I’ve always thought he was an elite quarterback.”Through four games, Stafford is off to a fairly hot start. His 102.6 passer rating is the best of his career through four games and currently ranks him eighth in the NFL. Since 2016, his passer rating of 94.8 ranks him 14th in the NFL (minimum 20 starts). So how does LaFleur define an “elite quarterback?”“Somebody that, when he’s on your team, you’re confident that you have a chance each and every week to go in and win the football game.” Though Matthew Stafford’s overall record as a quarterback is just 68-76-1, since 2014, the Lions have gone 44-39-1 with him behind center. While those aren’t exactly gaudy win numbers, they do speak to Stafford’s ability to make the team competitive, even when the rest of the roster doesn’t look all that competitive. Still Jalen Reeves-Maybin Jersey White , Stafford’s statistics only put him just inside the top 10, at best. So how many “elite” quarterbacks are currently in the NFL?“I don’t know, to be honest with you,” LaFleur said. “I know he’s one of them, though.” Fair enough.

Wide receiver realism: John Ross is not a bust yet http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.c...ock-jersey , and is it time to look at Auden Tate? I don’t even want to imagine what the discourse surrounding John Ross would be if he didn’t score a touchdown in Week 1 against the Colts. Because immediately following Sunday’s game against the Panthers when Andy Dalton threw two interceptions his way, it got pretty ugly.I’m not here to tell you that your sentiments were unwarranted considering the timing, nor are they uncommon. The only thing more expected than outlandish overreactions following a loss are now flags for tackling the quarterback. I’m also not going to find these tweets in a number of weeks if Ross happens to go off, because I’d never call people out for cold takes. *wink* Ross does deserves blame for the lackluster start of his second season. In three games, Ross has a mere five receptions on 13 targets that have gone for 27 yards to go with aforementioned touchdown and interceptions thrown his way. I’m tired of saying Ross is too talented not to produce vastly better than this, but it remains the truth. Because talent has nothing to do with it. This was not the best throw or decision by Dalton, but it’s never great when the cornerback runs the route better than the receiver. This was the first interception thrown by Dalton in 79 attempts, and the first of two he would throw while targeting Ross. I broke this play down yesterday, and assessed that blame should reside with both Dalton and Ross. But again, it doesn’t look great when isolating Ross on the play.Admittedly, the game plan offensive coordinator Bill Lazor could be better at utilizing Ross. In an NFL where the “mesh” concept reigns supreme, we’ve yet to see Ross get schemed open over the middle, allowing him to damage with the ball in manufactured space. Instead http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.c...ton-jersey , we’ve seen a lot of quick passes forced to Ross in tight coverage and defenses have had no issue limiting the ninth-overall pick in the chances he’s gotten. His true impact has been felt when the ball isn’t designed to go his way.I have a feeling that I’m not the only one who feels this way, but it’s gotten to the point where if Ross is targeted, I’m grimacing—and it shouldn’t be this way at this point. Not after all the turbulence he went through last season to get here. Not after the team let go of Brandon LaFell and he was vaulted into the starting lineup. Not after he kickstarted the end of Vontae Davis’ career in the preseason. Not after he secured his first career catch in the end zone just two weeks ago. When will the mental hurdles be in the rear view mirror? Not every case is the same, but the Bengals have first-hand experience in dealing with a second-year receiver seemingly lacking in mental side of the game. This time last year we weren’t sure if Tyler Boyd would turn into a bust after injuries and an off-the-field incident looked like it derailed his sophomore season before it began. Boyd was a healthy scratch for a number of games and had appeared to lose trust with the coaching staff. It was this adversity that Boyd eventually overcame in the last two games of the year, and now he leads the team with 249 receiving yards through three games this season.I’m not saying that Ross will turn out exactly like Boyd in time, who clearly has developed wonderful chemistry with Dalton in recent months, but I’m not not saying that as well. What is clear is that Ross can still be defined by what made him the ninth-overall pick in last year’s draft, and not the mountains he has still yet to climb in his own psyche. Ross wouldn’t even be the first Bengals receiver in the Marvin Lewis era to turn in a solid career after a slow start. So please, for the sake of not getting owned, ease up on the trigger to blast Ross. Fair criticism is fair criticism, but don’t write the takes in ink just yet like some did for Boyd last year.So...about Auden Tate...Yes, let’s discuss the youngest weapon in the young Bengals receiving corps.Through three weeks, Tate has yet to not be listed as an inactive player on game days. He has been joined by fellow receiver Cody Core on the inactives list up until this week when Core got the green light after he fully recovered from his injury he suffered during training camp http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.c...son-jersey , and actually made an impact play as a gunner on punt teams by downing a punt inside the one yard-line. For reasons such as this, Core was expected to get the nod over Tate to dress on a weekly basis. A team carrying seven receivers on its roster is unlikely to activate them all, and Tate provides the least amount of value in terms of potential participation. He’s not an asset on special teams, and he’s still a wild card at the receiver position. But with A.J. Green banged up after the loss to Carolina and uncertain to play against Atlanta, is it time to see how Tate handles the real stage? If Green is held out, the Bengals could roll with six receivers again like they did last week when Core returned, or they could stick with five like the previous two weeks. If they chose the latter, Tate is probably still the odd man out. But considering the options outside of Boyd and Ross are slim, Tate may get his chance. One of those options is Josh Malone, who played a decent amount of snaps after Green left the game in the second half and didn’t exactly set the field on fire with his 12 yards on one catch and three targets. He was also the one targeted by Dalton which resulted in his second interception of the game. Core only saw six snaps on offense, which may be the number Tate would get against Atlanta if he plays. The Bengals are currently five point underdogs to the 1-2 Falcons and are in danger of dropping to 2-2 without their best player on offense. The receivers not named Boyd and their play caller Boyd need to make a statement against a banged up Falcons defense this Sunday to avoid that from happening. Last week: 3-9Weeks 1 through 10: 73-75-5Tough week last week. Time to get back on track…Home team shown in bold. Odds taken from Odds Shark.Cincinnati (-1) vs. ClevelandNow with Cincinnati, Hue Jackson gets his revenge (kind of) and the Bengals take it at home.<em>Pick: Cincinnati (-1)</em>Jacksonville (-3) vs. BuffaloThe Jaguars defense should feast in this one, so much so that their Blake Bortles-led offense won’t be forced to do much.<em>Pick: Jacksonville (-3)</em>Philadelphia (-5) vs. New York GiantsThe Eagles still have a legitimate path to an NFC East title.. although that says more about the NFC East than it does the Eagles.<em>Pick: Philadelphia (-5)</em>New England (-10.5) vs. New York Jets The Jets lose by 31 to the Bills http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.c...att-jersey , have to sit on it through their bye week, and then have to play….. the Patriots. Fun fact: Josh McCown vs. Tom Brady will be the second-oldest QB matchup in NFL history.<em>Pick: New England (-10.5)</em>Baltimore (-11.5) vs. OaklandThe Ravens aren’t built to blow teams out… they win here, but the Raiders will keep it close.<em>Pick: Oakland (+11.5)</em>Tampa Bay (-1.5) vs. San FranciscoExpect a lot of points in this one. Both Jameis Winston and Nick Mullens should put up solid performances.<em>Pick: Tampa Bay (-1.5)</em>Carolina (-3) vs. SeattleThe Seahawks saved their season with a big win on Thursday Night Football vs. the Packers, but neither team looked very good in that one. The Panthers, losers of two straight, are desperate and at home. Those two ingredients sound like a win.<em>Pick: Carolina (-3)</em>Los Angeles Chargers (-13.5) vs. ArizonaThe Bolts need a bounce back win here, as a matchup on SNF in Pittsburgh next week awaits.<em>Pick: Los Angeles Chargers (-13.5)</em>Indianapolis (-8) vs. MiamiAndrew Luck is becoming the great player that everyone expected coming out of Stanford.<em>Pick: Indianapolis (-8)</em>Pittsburgh (-3) vs. DenverAt first glance, this seems like a slam-dunk win for the Steelers… but I’m not so convinced. They had to scramble in Jacksonville to come out with a win, and the Broncos will be ready for them.<em>Pick: Denver (+3)</em>Minnesota (-3) vs. Green BayThis Sunday night matchup is a battle for 2nd place in the NFC North. I love Rodgers, but the Vikings are the better team.<em>Pick: Minnesota (-3)</em>Houston (-4) vs. TennesseeThe Titans already have one big win on Monday Night this season, but they won’t get a second. Texans roll.<em>Pick: Houston (-4)</em>

Recall that few weeks a group of armed robbers led by "Grave and his accomplice known as "Tomato" were caught on CCTV camera attacking a filling stattion located at Bank road Umuahia.
Grave and four members of his gang arrived the filling station at about 9:30am with a Honda Accord vehicle pretending to be customers. “It would be recalled that on Nov. 6 and 10, 2019, Nwokocha and his gang invaded a hotel and robbed staff and guests. During the operation, one policeman on duty was shot dead and his rifle carted away," said Okon.
“Also on November 10, 2019, Nwokocha and his gang robbed attendants and customers of a filling station on Bank Road, Umuahia. On different occasions, he led a gang that snatched vehicles from their owners within and outside of the capital city at gunpoint. He also robbed other locations and planned to attack the Correctional Service Centre (Prison) in Umuahia to liberate his mother and other inmates.”

EFCC arraigns ‘Mama Boko Haram’ in Maiduguri over alleged N66m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Wednesday, December 4th arraigned Tahiru Saidu Daura and Aisha Alkali Wakil over alleged conspiracy and N66 million fraud.

The duo were made to appear before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, sitting in Maiduguri. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said this in a statement in Abuja.

He further explained, “The prosecution of the duo followed a petition written by one Ali Tijjani, CEO/managing director of AMTMAT Global Ventures against Complete Care and Aids Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), run by the defendants, wherein the petitioner alleged that, on September 7, 2018, Complete Care and Aids Foundation awarded his company a contract to supply it processed maize grain, referred to as “biski” in native language, worth N15million, which the second defendant, Wakil received on behalf of Complete Care and Aid Foundation upon delivery.

Quote:“According to Tijjani, his company upon the request of the defendants equally process and funded their trip to Morocco to the tune of N51million, a cost they refused to defray”.
Count two of the charge reads: “That you Tahiru Saidu Daura, while being a programme manager of Complete Care and Aid Foundation, and Aisha Wakil, being the CEO of Complete Care and Aid Foundation on the 7th September 2018, in Maiduguri within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly induce Ali Tijjani, the CEO and alter ego of AMTMAT Global Ventures to deliver to you, processed maize grains (biski), valued at N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira) which you are yet to pay and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320(a) and punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.”

But the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges, upon which prosecution counsel, Fatsuma Muhammad applied for a trial date and for the remand of the defendants in the custody of Nigerian Correctional Centre (NCS), pending the determination of the case.  However, counsels for the defendants, H. Waziri and B.G Zanna made oral bail applications for the defendants, on the ground of the administrative bail, earlier granted to them by the EFCC.

In his ruling, Justice Kumaliya granted them to bail in the sum of N30million with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties he said, must be someone at the level of a permanent secretary in the civil service, who owns a landed property in Maiduguri GRA, and must submit the title document of the property to the registry of the court.

The judge further declared that the bail will be revoked on the failure of the defendants to attend trial and, adjourned the matter to January 13, 2020 for commencement of trial.

EFCC storms ‘Yahoo-Boys den’, arrests kingpin, 26 others
The Operatives of EFCC, on Wednesday, busted a Lagos hotel believed to be a hideout for internet fraudsters.

The target was one Rasaq Balogun, a suspected internet fraud kingpin, whose illicit activities dominated intelligence gathered from the recently arrested ‘police spies’ during a raid on their Abeokuta base.

According to findings, Balogun harbours an army of young men recruited to carry out financial frauds through the use of the internet. Some others were also arrested at his Beckley Estate residence, also in Lagos State.

The raid on his hotel, Modzak Hotel, at Abule-Egba, Lagos State, sufficiently gave credence to the suspicion as a retinue of young men were caught harboured in his hotel with no specific mission.

The suspected kingpin and 26 other young men ranging between the ages of 18 and 35 years were arrested at the scene.

Other suspects were also arrested at his Beckley Estate residence, Lagos, from where they were all moved to the Commission’s Ibadan zonal office for further interrogation.

Officer of the anti-graft agency also recovered three vehicles, fetish item, laptops, mobile phones and documents suspected to contain fraudulent data from the suspect.

Please release my son, he can't run away because he has committed no crime – Sowore’s mother appeals to Buhari and DSS

“He always comes to me in the village every December but you have been holding him. I am a widow, my son has always been like that. He speaks against injustice and stands up against it. In this country Igbo businessmen are no longer safe, they seem to be the most hated- Charly Boy

Entertainer, Charly Boy shared an article on his Instagram page in which he opined that Igbo businessmen are no longer safe in the country.

Making reference to the money laundering allegation leveled against Air Peace boss, Allen Onyema, Charly Boy opined that Igbo businessmen seem to be the most hated in the country. Read his article below

Quote:
We Are Biafrans.
Nigeria Doesn’t
Live in Me.
CharlyBoy.

Few years back , I watched a story on the Airpeace CEO, Allen Onyema as he was talking about his frustrations as a genuine business man who only wanted to provide service and make money. He was complaining about how the badly thought out economic policy of the government was frustrating his business.
He exposed to the world how aircrafts sent for servicing were stranded because of the crunch on foreign currency. Currency which we all knew was being wheeled and dealed by the faceless and nameless cabals in government......
na god go punish una for us.
He cried out to Nigerians, highlighting the millions of dollars lost because of some very senseless policies of government. After that day I became a big fan of air peace and I decided that I’ll patronize them every time I’m traveling their routes.

This was why I hailed his patriotism and sacrifice when South Africans were killing our people like flies and our government was dining and feasting with our murderers. Even our shameless government wey no get national career no remember to do anything, I just dey wonder, na because dem be Omo Igbo’s?

See as dem been wan slander em name. See as everything for Naija don turn into dirty politics. Hmmmmmm....... make we think am ooo

In this country these days Igbo business Men no safe at all. They seem the most hated in the country. I just no dey understand. Is it a crime to come from the southeast and also be a successful businessman.

Una see how dem been deal with Jim Nwobodo of Savannah Bank, how about Cletus Ibeto of Ibeto Cement, una go still remember Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors and now it is Allen Onyema of Air Peace.
Weytin dey play for this nyamanyama country sef?
Everybody now know and can see the reason why the Igbo’s want Biafra.
Too much injustice in the land. People from southern Kaduna nko? Ijaw people nko?

Igbo’s usually excel because they work hard and no matter the oppression they always rise to the challenge. You can’t stop the river from flowing. You can tackle them all you want but they will forever keep on Trucking.

We have way more pressing issues in Nigeria - Simi tells Festus Keyamo on hate speech bill

Nigerian singer Simi took a dig at the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo following his support for the hate speech bill.

The Minister had earlier told Nigerians who are against the bill to unblock those that irritate them on social media. According to Keyamo, those against the bill should not be intolerant on social media and ask others not to.

Quote:He wrote "Those so-called overnight Social Media ‘activists’ who oppose the Social Media Bill should first stop blocking those who irritate them with insults, unblock all those they have blocked and apologise to them. You can’t be intolerant and ask others to be. Practice what you preach."

However reacting to the tweet, Simi stated that democracy does not permit a law that makes people sensitive when they talk about the people they voted for. The singer who wondered the number of false posts that triggered proposition of the bill, added that there are more pressing issues in the country.

Quote:Simi tweeted “In a democracy sir, it should not be the law for people to be ‘sensitive’ when they talk about the people they voted for.
“How many false posts about the government actually circulate that warrants a bill like this? We have way more pressing issues in Nigeria and even you know it!"

"What an ungrateful personality" Angela Okorie calls out Tacha for not showing gratitude after she supported her while in the Big Brother Naija house

Angela Okorie has slammed Tacha for not showing gratitude after she supported her while she was in the Big Brother Naija house.

The actress said she used her platform to support the former reality star but since Tacha came out the house, she has been ignoring her.

Tacha put up a post after she came out of the house to thank her supporters, including Peter Okoye, Bobrisky, Jaaruma, Angela Okorie and more. She tagged Angela twice to the post.

But Angela claims Tacha doesn't reply her for days when she writes to her. She said that when Tacha replies, she directs her to her manager.

Calling Tacha out, Angela said Tacha's action has made her understand why Jaaruma, her biggest supporter, unfollowed her. She went on to accuse Tacha of having a bad character.

The actress wrote:

Quote:This Right Here keeps me going
What Ever I do for people
I don't expect A pay Back
And that is why God
Keeps blessing me
But as a human being
I think I deserve Gratitude.

Some people i helped like Tacha can't even say
Thank you for giving her my platform
To push her Brand
As the matter of fact she ignores me ,
When I write her
It takes 2 days to reply me
Or she directs me to her manager
What an Ungrateful personality
Tacha it took you 2 weeks to call me after you
Left Big brother house,
That was After @hairess_gallery told u to call to at least say thank you,

Now I understand why Jaruma unfollowed you
Tacha I told you to post her picture publicly and
Say Thank you to her for all she did for you,
Cos is not easy to spend money on who doesn't
Know u , Gratitude is important
I told you that "A good character will keep you in the industry for a long time"
But a bad character will make u loose everything
I was the First public face to post ur picture when you entered big brother house,

This alone can make me not to help anybody again,
But you know what??? I will keep helping people
Cos this is part of my work on Earth.
Called you for a shoot
And I was shocked u said u will post it for free
Forgetting I post u on my page 2/47 without u paying a Dine

I pleaded with my lovely fans on daily basis to keep Voting for you until you win
I lost lots of fans cos of you
Some even wrote me messages threatening me
For supporting you , "
I told them I saw something different they can't see in you.

Even when everyone was against you
I supported you till the end and also gave them
Reasons to support you,

Gratitude is very Important
Gratitude is a Must
Does it mean if you were Angela Okorie
You won't give me same opportunity I gave you????
Desist from being Ungrateful to people who
Helped you when u were a nobody
Else it will Ruin You forever
NB: Gratitude is everything

Victims of Ponzi scheme protest as court gives the Nwegwu brothers fine option

Victims of a Ponzi scheme executed by two brothers, Kingsley Nwegwu and Joakin Nwegwu, both directors of ACJEC Global Services Ltd have expressed dissatisfaction after they were given a light punishment on December 2nd by Justice M.L. Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State.

The brothers were docked for 50 counts of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N98.7million. After reviewing the evidences brought against them, Justice Abubakar, held that the prosecution proved its case beyond every reasonable doubt, and so, convicted them accordingly.

While sentencing them to one year in prison, the trial judge further ordered that all the properties traced to them in the course of investigations, should be forfeited to the Federal Government. He also gave them an option of fine of N1million each.

However, many of their victims, who had thronged the court premises, expressed dissatisfaction over the one year imprisonment given them by the court, particularly the option of N1million. The two brothers were docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu Zonal office.

Their journey to prison began in 2011 when they lured people to invest their money in ACJEC Global Services Ltd with the promise of paying mouth-watering 30- 34 percent annual interest.

The petitioners alleged that after investing the said money they never got the interest nor the capital invested in the company.  Investigations carried out by the EFCC further revealed that more than N4 billion was paid into the accounts of the convicts by their over 200 victims, in what turned out to be a Ponzi Scheme.

Quote:One of the victims was said to have invested more than N50million. Count 15 of the charge against them reads: “That you, Kingsley Chinedu Nwegwu, Chetachukwu Joakim Nwegwu and ACJEC Global Services Ltd, on or about the 23rd of March, 2011 at Awka, Anambra State within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, with intent to defraud, obtained by false pretence the sum of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen million naira) from Okeke Osita Samuel when you represented that the said amount of money was an investment in a business of partnership venture which would generate more financial income for the said Okeke Osita Samuel, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 1(1) b of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No.14 of 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

Court Orders FG To Recover Pensions From Saraki, Akpabio, Amaechi, Others by Gandolla
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-04-2019, 12:47 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos in a landmark judgement has ordered the Federal Government to “recover pensions collected by former governors now serving as ministers and members of the National Assembly, and directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN to challenge the legality of states’ pension laws permitting former governors and other ex-public officials to collect such pensions.”

A certified true copy of the judgement delivered last week was obtained yesterday. The judgement by Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo followed an application for an order of mandamus in suit number FHC/L/CS/1497/2017 brought by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

The judgement is coming on the heels of the invalidated pension law for former governors and other ex-public officers in Zamfara State, which provided for the upkeep of ex-governors to the tune of N700 million annually. The state has produced three former governors since 1999.

In the SERAP’s judgment, Justice Oguntoyinbo said: “The Attorney General has argued that the States’ laws duly passed cannot be challenged. With respect, I do not agree with this line of argument by the Attorney General that he cannot challenge the States’ pension laws for former governors.” Justice Oguntoyinbo also said: “The question that comes to mind is: who should approach the Court where a particular law is not in the best interest of Nigeria as a country or National interest? Who should approach the Court where a particular law is detrimental to the interest of the country? Who should institute actions in court for the purpose of recovering public funds collected?

In answering the questions, Justice Oguntoyinbo said: “In my humble view, the Attorney General should be interested in the legality or validity of any law in Nigeria and how such laws affect or will affect Nigerians, being the Chief Law Officer of the Federation.” Justice Oguntoyinbo has adjourned the suit to the 3rd of February 2020 for hearing on report of compliance with the court orders/judgement by the Federal Government.

Justice Oguntoyinbo’s judgment read in part: “I have considered SERAP’s arguments that it is concerned about the attendant consequences that are manifesting on the public workers and pensioners of the states who have been refused salaries and pensions running into several months on the excuse of non-availability of state resources to pay them. SERAP has also argued that there is need to recover such public funds collected by former governors.”

“It is clear from the facts of this case that SERAP had written the Attorney General to institute appropriate legal actions to challenge the legality of States’ laws permitting former governors, who are now senators and ministers to enjoy governors’ emoluments while drawing normal salaries and allowances in their new political offices and to seek full recovery of funds from those involved.”

“SERAP has stated that since the receipt of the said letter, the Attorney General has failed, refused and/or neglected to institute appropriate legal actions to that effect. In my view, the principle of ‘demand and refusal’ has been satisfied by SERAP. I have also considered the fact that in action to protect a public right or enforce the performance of a public duty, it is the Attorney General that ought to sue.”

“Having considered all the facts presented by SERAP on the need for the suit and the Counter-Affidavit against same, I find no reason why the order of mandamus should not be granted. I am of the view that SERAP’s suit has merit.” “I resolve this issue against the Attorney General, in favour of SERAP. I hold that the Motion of Notice for Mandamus dated 6th February 2018 and filed on 7th February 2018 has merit. It is therefore granted in the terms sought.”

“In other words, the Attorney General is hereby directed to urgently institute appropriate legal actions to challenge the legality of states’ laws permitting former governors, who are now senators and ministers to enjoy governors’ emoluments while drawing normal salaries and allowances in their new political offices and to identify those involved and seek full recovery of public funds from the former governors.”

“I take judicial notice of the essence of the creation of SERAP. I believe that SERAP has the locus standi to bring this suit. More so, this is a constitutional matter. In constitutional matters, the requirement of locus standi becomes unnecessary to a great extent as it may merely impede judicial function. This issue is therefore resolved against the Attorney General, in favour of SERAP.”

“SERAP is seeking an order of mandamus to compel the Attorney General to file action to challenge States’ pension laws for former governors and recover public funds collected by them in the public interest, since the Attorney General has failed/neglected to institute such action. That is the essence of SERAP’s suit.” “I believe the Attorney General can institute action in a Court of law to challenge States’ pension laws for former governors. I do not see any substance in the submissions of counsel to the Attorney General on this issue. I therefore resolve this issue against the Attorney General, in favour of SERAP.

On the whole, I find no merit in the Attorney General’s preliminary objection. It is accordingly dismissed.” SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare said: “This ground-breaking judgment is a victory for Nigerian workers and pensioners who have not been paid by state governors for several months and struggle to make ends meet whilst former governors now serving as ministers and senators continue to collect double emoluments and enjoy opulent lifestyles.”

“Justice Oguntoyinbo’s judgment shows the urgent need for state governors in Nigeria to follow the Zamfara example by immediately abolishing the obnoxious pension laws in their states. We commend Justice Oguntoyinbo for her courage and wisdom, and urge President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr Malami to immediately obey the court orders.”

“This judgment should catalyse further action from the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Ekiti State governor Dr Kayode Fayemi to use this judgment to abolish pension law in his own state and make a clear public commitment that the Governors’ Forum under his watch will push all governors and ex-governors to abolish life pensions and return public funds collected by them before being compelled to do so.” Femi Falana, SAN said on the judgment: “SERAP deserves the commendation of all well-meaning people that have agonised over the legalization of obscene pension package for former governors. This is one of the most patriotic public interest litigation ever undertaken in Nigeria. We call on state governors to use the judgment as the basis for formally repealing life pension laws and all other retrogressive laws without any further ado.”

Justice Oguntoyinbo’s judgment also reads: “I have considered the papers filed and it is obvious that SERAP is a human rights non-governmental organization, seeking to protect the public interest. It is also clear that the reason for this suit is to compel the Attorney General to challenge the legality of states’ pension laws for former governors and to identify those who have collected pensions and also seek to full recovery of public funds.”

“Parties ought to be bound by the issues they formulate. They ought not to make arguments outside the issues formulated by them. The Attorney General has failed to give any reason for submitting that SERAP’s suit is incompetent.” “The argument made is that the reliefs sought by SERAP in this suit cannot be granted; that the Attorney General cannot be compelled to institute actions and that the laws sought to be challenged were duly passed by the House of Assembly, and are therefore legal and ought not to be challenged. However, SERAP on its part has made contrary arguments.”

“The Attorney General has argued that SERAP has not shown any injury it has suffered any injury as a result of the salaries and allowances being given to former governors who are now senators. SERAP is neither civil servants nor public servants who have any issues with the said States’ pension laws for former governors. That the suit was filed to promote transparency and accountability does not confer locus standi on SERAP to maintain this action.” “The Attorney General has only made argument as to why the suit should be refused on the merit. I believe the Attorney General ought to have incorporated these arguments in his response to the suit rather than incorporating same in a preliminary objection. This is fatal to this issue in this suit.”

It would be recalled that SERAP had in July 2017 requested Mr Malami to urgently institute appropriate legal action to challenge the legality of states’ laws permitting former governors, who are now senators and ministers to enjoy governors’ emoluments while drawing normal salaries and allowances in their new political offices and to seek full recovery of public funds from those involved.”

Former Senate President and governor of Kwara state Bukola Saraki said he stopped collecting pension after hearing of SERAP’s suit, and subsequently inspired the passing of the bill by the Kwara State House of Assembly to suspend payment of pensions to former governors and their deputies. Saraki had said at the time: “No, I’m not collecting pension; the moment I saw that SERAP allegation, I wrote to my state to stop my pension.”

The repealed pension law in Zamfara State allowed former governors to receive pension for life; two personal staff; two vehicles replaceable every four years; two drivers, free medical for the former governors and deputies and their immediate families in Nigeria or abroad; a 4-bedroom house in Zamfara and an office; free telephone and 30 days paid vacation outside Nigeria. So far, Ekiti State governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, and Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola have denied ever receiving double payments and retirement benefits as former governors in addition to other roles in public office.

At least 22 states starting from Lagos State have passed life pensions laws for former governors and other ex-public officials. Other states include Akwa Ibom; Edo; Delta; Kano; Gombe; Yobe; Borno; Bauchi; Abia; Imo; Bayelsa; Oyo; Osun; Kwara; Ondo; Ebonyi; Rivers; Niger; Kogi; and Katsina. SERAP’s letter to Mr Malami read in part: “According to our information, those who reportedly receive double emoluments and large severance benefits from their states include: Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano); Kabiru Gaya (Kano); Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom); Theodore Orji (Abia); Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa); Sam Egwu (Ebonyi); Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara); Joshua Dariye (Plateau), and Jonah Jang (Plateau).” “Others include: Ahmed Sani Yarima (Zamfara); Danjuma Goje (Gombe); Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe); Adamu Aliero (Kebbi); George Akume (Benue); and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers).”

Botham Jean's brother wins award for forgiving and hugging his brother's killer, Amber Guyger in court

Botham Jean’s brother, Brandt Jean was honored with an award for his courage in forgiving his brother's killer, Amber Guyger after her sentencing.

The Institute for Law Enforcement presented 18-year-old Brandt Jean with its 2019 Ethical Courage Award in Texas. It honors the empathy and forgiveness he showed the former Dallas Police Officer who killed his brother while he was in his home watching TV.

Jean testified at Amber Guyger’s sentencing hearing after she was convicted of murdering his brother in his own apartment. He said he loved her and did not want her to go to jail.

However, Guyger was sentenced to ten years in prison after claiming she thought she was in her own home at the time and thought Botham Jean was a Burglar.

Accepting the award on Tuesday, November 3, Brandt Jean used the opportunity to tell the police they could do better.

He said: "I want you all to know that I am not a threat, that young black males are not inherently dangerous or criminal. I implore you to champion policies and procedures that amplify the value of all lives. I insist that you encourage diverse leadership that can model inclusion and restraint.

"Most importantly, I ask that you remember my brother. And when you remember him, I want you to ask yourself what are you doing to ensure there will be no other families like mine — no other little brothers that have to model ethical leadership in forgiveness of a cop whose lack of training and discipline caused them to carelessly take the life of another.”

Gregory Smith, director of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration, said he was honored to present the award to Jean for his ethics and integrity.

“Brandt Jean represents the best in us,” Smith said. “Despite an unimaginable loss, he saw the humanity in the person responsible for his brother’s death. He saw her pain and regret, and had the ability to show empathy, caring and forgiveness.”

Blocking people doesn’t infringe on their right to say what they want to say - MI Abaga tackles Festus Keyamo on social media bill

On Monday December 2nd, Singer, Festus Keyamo posted a tweet in support of the Social media regulation bill being debated upon in the Senate.

In Keyamo's opinion, people who are against the bill should first unblock anyone they have blocked on social media, for insulting them online. He wrote;

Quote:Those so-called overnight Social Media ‘activists’ who oppose the Social Media Bill should first stop blocking those who irritate them with insults, unblock all those they have blocked and apologise to them. You can’t be intolerant and ask others to be. Practice what you preach.

Rapper, M.I Abaga took out time to reply Festus Keyamo, pointing out why his position on the controversial bill doesn't hold water.
Quote:I’m sure you can see the difference esteemed sir. Blocking people (which is so much fun by the way) doesn’t infringe on the other persons right to say what they want to say.. I don’t have to listen to you isn’t the same as I won’t allow you speak . he wrote

We lack the power to prosecute electoral offenders — INEC

The Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that it lacks the capacity to prosecute electoral offenders.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu who spoke during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Abuja on Tuesday December 3, said they've worked closely with the police even though there is no timeframe for the prosecution of electoral offenders.

Mahmood added that even though INEC is the electoral umpire in Nigeria, it does not have the power to arrest offenders and conduct investigation “without which successful prosecution is impossible.”

Quote:“Over the years, we have worked closely with the Nigeria Police. Since 2015 we have received a total of 149 case files, including 16 cases arising from the 2019 general election,” he said.
“The cases are prosecuted in the states where the alleged offences were committed.
“Unlike pre-election and post-election cases, there is no timeframe for the prosecution of electoral offenders. A case may go on for several years.
“Some of the cases were dismissed for want of diligent prosecution while in some states, the attorneys-general entered nolle prosequi to get the alleged offenders off the hook.
“Even where the commission recorded the most successful prosecution of electoral offenders following the violence witnessed in a bye-election in Kano State in 2016, it is unclear how many of the 40 offenders sentenced to prison with the option of fine actually spent time in jail.
“The fine was paid presumably by their sponsors.
“That is why we believe that the Electoral Offences Commission and Tribunal will dispense justice dispassionately and speedily in the same way that the Electoral Court deals with violators in other countries such as South Africa.”

The INEC Chairman also raised an alarm of elections for the executive positions in the country being characterised by brazen acts of impunity. He however expressed hope of security operatives arresting and prosecuting perpetrators of electoral violence and their sponsors.

Imagine not hanging killers but they want to hang hate speakers - Bishop Oyedepo speaks on hate speech bill

Bishop David Oyedepo who spoke on the opening day of Shiloh 2019, described the controversial hate speech bill as a 'crazy idea'.

The Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel stated that the proposed hate speech bill is aimed at silencing Nigerians.

Oyedepo added that when one says something truthful, proponents of the bill may term it a 'hate speech'.

Quote:Oyedepo said “Hate speech is one of the most crazy idea ever. So if the road is bad, we should say it is good?
“You say something truthful about them and they call it is hate speech? You can’t silence a man of God because he is called by God.
“A prophet is answerable to God only, what God tells him he will say. You cannot stand for God and be a loser.
“I don’t know if anyone loves Nigeria more than I do. Imagine they are not hanging killers, they want to hang ‘hate speakers?
“ Anyways that is dead already, if the wicked will not stop his wickedness God will stop his wickedness.”

We'll get supercharged in relation to Velofel.

Through what agency do professors affect old best male enhancement pills 2019 services? Although, I don't comprehend what is going on with this problem. This quantum leap has a history of prior successes. You're up against a desperate deadline and this opinion helps me see this ploy from another perspective. I might still buy designer best male supplements 2018 and luxury best male supplements 2018 sometimes. There is no reason why you can't do both. Last week I spoke with someone who had thrown the towel in on this formula. Despite this, you have to get started with this arrangement although this will be verified by pills for sexually active experts. Unmistakably, male enhancement pills reviews. I can understand what's going down. I've been insulated from this effect lately. A lot of what I've said may sound confusing. It is part of my private stock of the statement. Reports have shown Velofel makes big cheeses feel better.

Libel: Atiku Sues Lauretta Onochie, Demands N2.5 Bilion In Damages
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-04-2019, 10:32 AM - No Replies

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday showed up at the registry of the FCT High Court in Maitama where he signed his witness deposition on oath in a libel suit against Lauretta Onochie, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku was accompanied by his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who filed the suit on his behalf, to the office of the Commissioner for Oaths where he signed the deposition in the suit asking for a N2.5billion in damages.

Daily Trust reports that Atiku, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the February 23 poll, sued Onochie for her alleged libelous tweet via her Twitter handle on May 7.

The post allegedly suggested that Atiku was on the watchlist of security operatives in the United Arab Emirates and had travelled to shop for terrorists in the Middle East.

Atiku, in his statement of claim accompanying the suit, stated that after writing a letter to Onochie demanding for apology and retraction, she further made “another derogatory publication and also published same globally online on the social and other print media” against his person on May 20.

He denied the allegations contained in the said publication which he described as “a figment of the imagination of the defendant”, but said it portrayed him “as an evil man, mentor of terrorists, someone who has links with terrorists, and a person who is interested in destabilising the peace and unity of Nigeria”.

He urged the court for a declaration that the publications made by Onochie via her social media accounts on May 7, and May 20, 2019, concerning him “are utterly false, baseless, unfounded and defamatory of the Claimant, and injurious to his reputation.”

He also sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further posting such “offensive and libelous material or any other form of defamatory statements against his person”.

The suit has not yet been assigned to a judge for hearing.

Former NFL player George Atkinson III dies one year after his twin brother's suicide

Former NFL player, George Atkinson III, 27, has died one year after his twin brother Josh Atkinson committed suicide.

The Athletic's Pete Sampson announced his death on Twitter. But the cause of death has not been revealed yet.

In his tweet, Sampson claimed Atkinson III had been "dealing with depression since the death of his twin brother."

Quote:Former Notre Dame running back George Atkinson III has died. Atkinson III has been dealing with depression since the death of his twin brother Josh roughly one year ago. Both were part of Notre Dame’s 2011 recruiting class.

Atkinson’s death comes less than a year after the death of his twin brother, Josh. In an open letter published on TheUnsealed.com, Atkinson wrote that Josh, who played defensive back at Notre Dame, had committed suicide.

In the piece, Atkinson III opened up about their childhood struggles. He explained their mother suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and drug addiction and that he and his brother later went on to live with their father, Super Bowl champion George Atkinson II. Years later, their mother died after complications from Crohn's disease. Atkinson III wrote they were both grieving but "thought Josh was taking it better than me."

"I guess he was just masking it…" he wrote in the piece. "On Christmas Eve, he went missing. Through the GPS in his car we found him. Drunk and upset, he was on the verge of driving to the bridge and doing something stupid. He said he felt guilty because we pulled the plug on our mother's life support. I told him it was our decision. I reassured him no one is blaming nobody and to snap out of it because it was in God's hand. I calmed him down and took him home. The next day he hanged himself."

After his brother's passing, Atkinson III tried to harm himself but didn't succeed. He also credited his daughter for giving him "that second wind of motivation."

"We all must make sure we don't find the easy way out, like using alcohol or drugs to numb our pain," he wrote. "That will lead us nowhere. We have to face our problems head-on, whether that is talking to people, praying or listening to motivational speeches. Whatever helps you get through a tough time, that's what you've got to do and that's what I have to do too."

18-year-old Gomolemo Legae was stabbed more than 25 times, but this was not enough for her assailant, who allegedly returned to douse her with petrol and set her alight.

The incident happened in Ramosadi village, Mahikeng in the North West in the early hours of Sunday December 1.

Police said Legae was possibly raped before she was stabbed and a charge to that effect could be added to the murder charge.

Her grieving aunt, Gadifele Mashetla, told City Press on Tuesday, that her niece’s killer was “determined to take her life”.
“We’re told by pathologists that she was stabbed more than 25 times in the chest and back but Gomolemo fought on, refusing to die. He then went and bought petrol which he used to set her alight,” Mashetla said.

She said her niece “could have been saved” had the ambulance responded earlier.

Mashetla said that after the attack, her niece was found by a passerby, a man from the neighbourhood. He left her in the care of another man, in order to direct the ambulance to her location. But before the ambulance could arrive, the assailant returned and set her alight.
“She told [the passerby] who had stabbed her, and was still fighting death. The man called police and ambulance and after some time when they did not arrive, he asked another man to stand there with Gomolemo so he can go to the main road and wait to direct the ambulance from there,” Mashetla said.
“Suddenly he saw flames from the distance and came running, only to find Gomolemo in flames.”

She said that it wasn’t certain whether the other man had left Gomolemo or if he was chased away by the assailant.
“Gomolemo was a fighter … she was still alive when the police arrived but the ambulance took time to arrive and she took her last breath. My niece struggled, fought and refused to let go of her last breath and could have been saved.”

Mashetla said the alleged killer was known to the family and was from their neighbourhood.
“The boy’s family came to see us today, asked for our forgiveness and told us that they are the ones who went and searched for their son before handing him over to the police,” she said.

North West police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, has confirmed the incident.
“The 19-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a sharp object and doused her with petrol. The suspect was handed over to the police Monday in the afternoon and he was expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder. There is the possibility that a charge of rape may be added,” Mokgwabone said.

North West Premier, Job Mokgoro, has expressed “sadness and concern at the increasing number of the violent rape and murder being perpetrated against young women in the various parts of the North West in recent days”.

According to a statement released by Mokgoro’s office, the alleged killer was arrested after “he was positively identified through CCTV footage at a nearby petrol station in the area where he allegedly purchased petrol and went on to set the victim alight”.

The MEC for social development, Boitumelo Moiloa, has already contacted the family of the deceased to determine how the provincial government could assist with counselling and other necessary intervention during this moment of grief.

Legae’s killing comes just over a day after the burial of 21-year-old college student, Precious Ramabulana, who was reportedly stabbed 52 times and died on the eve of the launch of the 16 Days of Activism campaign at Mokomene village in Limpopo.

Legae’s aunt, Mashetla, said she will be buried on Wednesday in Mahikeng.

Meanwhile, the North West government has committed to easing the family’s pain by helping with the funeral.
“The department of social development, led by the MEC, will assist the family with all funeral arrangements to ensure a dignified funeral for the deceased in Seweding village,” Mokgoro’s spokesperson, Vuyisile Ngesi said.

16-year-old Kenyan girl stabbed to death 20 times by her teenage friend after she rejected his sexual advances

Police in Kenya are holding a 17-year-old boy who allegedly killed a girl, 16, for rejecting his sexual advances.

Form 2 student Valerian Njeri was stabbed more than 20 times by the teenage boy after she turned down his request for intimacy.

She was killed less than 100 metres from her family’s homestead at Mirera in the periphery of Naivasha town on Thursday, November 28.

Her innocent gesture to return a book earlier given out to her by a neighbour and friend she trusted turned fatal. According to police investigators, the assailant used the book to bait the unsuspecting girl and lured her into the house.

Valerie's father John Ndonu is yet to come to terms with the death of his first-born child whom he described as the family’s beacon of hope.
“She was everything a parent wanted in a child. She was obedient and loved education. She wanted to become a doctor and was passionate about it,” said the mourning father.

She had scored 346 marks in the KCPE, laying bear her education prowess and secured admission at the prestigious Mary Leakey Girls’ School, and was set to join Form Three next year.

Her mother, Mary Goleti Chepleting, said she was a staunch Catholic. “We used to pray in turns whenever she was home,” she recalls.

On the fateful day, Mr Ndonu recalls reminding her daughter to complete her house chores as well as her holiday assignments.
“She promised to do so the same day and we agreed I would append my signature on the school diary as is the norm. That was the last time we spoke,” said Mr Ndonu, overcome with emotion.

Mr Ndonu said that after being informed that his daughter was missing, he rushed home with his wife and joined neighbours, friends and relatives in searching for the girl.
“After several hours of searching, we gave up and decided to continue with the mission later. The following day, a neighbour stumbled on her lifeless body right outside our compound,” he narrated.

According to police, the girl was found naked with over  20 stab wounds on her body.

The boy accused of killing Njeri had attempted to start a relationship with her but she flatly refused, Mr Ndonu added.

The local Nyumba Kumi chairman, Daniel Gichanga, is still pained by the incident that happened a stone’s throw away from his place of business.
“I even asked the teenager arrested for the killing to get me a glass of drinking water and he did it without exhibiting any emotions,” said Mr Gichanga.

He said the boy, a Form Three student at Nanyuki High School, used to lend his books to Njeri during school holidays.
“The teenager accosted the victim after she returned one of the books at around midday. After she turned down his advances to get intimate, he turned wild and stabbed her several times,” said Mr Gichanga.

Police said the suspect hid the body inside his room before dumping it outside the family’s compound at night.

The police are still piecing together information but DCIO boss Kenneth Njoroge said the boy is the prime suspect.
“Initial investigations indicate that the teenager is a key suspect. He is still being interrogated,” he said.

Her body was moved to Naivasha hospital mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted.

Russian sisters who killed their father for sexually abusing them, to face trial

In spite of an outcry, Russian investigators on Tuesday December 3 announced that two out of the three sisters who killed their father after years of allegedly being subjected to sexual abuse will be facing murder charges.

Krestina, Angelina and Maria Khachaturyan were 19, 18 and 17 when they killed their father Mikhail with pepper spray, a knife and a hammer while he was sleeping in July 2018, after years of allegedly being subjected to physical and sexual assault.

Though more than 364,000 people signed a petition earlier this year demanding the three women be fully acquitted of any crime, the Russian Investigative Committee which handles major crimes said it had completed its investigation and recommended that two of the sisters be tried for premeditated murder which carries a jail term of between 8 and 20 years.

The committee insisted that the two older sisters were of sound mind and aware of their actions at the time of the attack, countering claims of lawyers and activists who said the teenagers were forced to act to save their own lives.  The youngest sister, Maria is to be taken into mandatory psychiatric care.

This is coming after the European Court of Human Rights revealed that Russian legislation does not define or mention domestic violence as a separate offense or aggravating element in other offences.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 4TH DECEMBER.

INCREASE IN UNDERSTANDING

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:18 NKJV).

When we say revelation is progressive, it doesn’t mean that we’re adding any new thing or that God brings more revelation from time to time. It just means that our spiritual eyes are further enlightened to what’s already been revealed in the Scriptures.

The reason it’s progressive is that we’re growing; we’re learning more, and increasing in our understanding.

As you study the Scriptures, there’ll be revelations as well as observations. However, much of what most talk about aren’t even revelations, but observations, because the Word of God is complete. Think about what Paul, Peter, and the other apostles said in the Scriptures, by the Holy Ghost; it doesn’t get better than that. You can’t create a “new revelation,” because it’s got to be based on what Jesus came to do. 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

There’s nothing you’d discover today that’s not already in the Scriptures. But you see, even when you study the Word, you may never know some things, until the Spirit imparts that knowledge to you. And that is what’s important.

The only thing that’ll change your life is that higher understanding that the Spirit gives; it’ll impact your life in every way. Your prayer will change; your thinking will change. You’ll become so much more effective in your work and ministry in the Gospel.

Suddenly, you’d realise that all that time you were “hoping” that one day, God would have mercy on you and help you, what you needed was the higher understanding that everything you could ever need in your life was already in you; already provided for. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I affirm that the Word of God is for my advantage, progress, blessing and promotion. My heart and mind are open to receive and understand the Scriptures; therefore, I’m wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Word is effectual in my life, producing in me what it talks about. Hallelujah!

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

4TH DECEMBER.

I affirm that I am a member of the body of Christ. My heart is full of joy, for I am blessed to partake of that corporate unction that transforms my life, and makes me more effective in the work of the Kingdom.

I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, I’ve been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light.

The Spirit of God has separated me from the destruction that ruins men’s lives and the judgment that works in the lives of men, having been identified with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. I am planted in the house of the Lord, my life is like a tree planted by the waters, ever in blossom.

I flourish like the palm tree, with grace and glory! My life is programmed by the Word and I am living a life that is full of possibilities. I am in Christ; therefore, I see life differently.

I see all trials and challenges that come my way as bread. Hallelujah! No force can defeat me or throw me off balance because greater is He that lives in me than he that is in the world. I am more than a conqueror, and I live each day with confidence, knowing that all of heaven and the power of divinity are working for me, and for my good.

I am a burning and a shining light; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. I am full of passion for extraordinary impact with the Gospel of Christ. I am lifted and transported by the Holy Ghost into the glorious and higher realms of life, where I only see and relate with the realities of the Kingdom. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Benjamin Akinsanya, 56, the pastor in charge of the Life House Ministry, Ojo, Lagos, has been arraigned before the Igbosere Chief Magistrate`s Court with two others for allegedly sponsoring a six-man suspected assassins in an attempt to kill a female pastor, Janet Ogunsola over alleged spiritual popularity tussle.

Other suspects charged with the pastor over the alleged crime Include Darlington Orji, 25, and Liberty Elvis, 29. Police said that Akinsanya allegedly paid the suspects N500, 000 to terminate the life of the female pastor in charge of Glorious Chapel Ministry, located at 1, Adeleye Street, Ojo, Lagos to stop her soaring spiritual popularity over him.

Police alleged that trouble started in October, 2019 when the suspects invaded the residence of the complainant with others still at large, armed with guns and attempted to kill her. Police further alleged that when the suspects who claimed to be suspected cultists could not find the complainant at home, they allegedly shot sporadically into her residence and left.

Following the ugly development, the distraught complainant sent a save our soul petition to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu. Narrating the incident, Ogunsola allegedly stated:

Quote:“A woman came to my church to complain of problems and I led my prayer warriors to pray for her and she left. And after about a month, the woman came back to my church to give testimonies that the prayer she received in my church has solved her problems.
“She also stated that she had been battling with the problems for the past eight years at Akinsanya’s Church without solution. When Akinsanya heard of the testimonies, he vowed to kill me because Almighty God used me to solve the problem of his former church member,” Ogunsola stated.
Following the report, IGP Adamu directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Durosimi Olatoye to hunt down the suspects. Olatoye gave a marching order to his crack team led by Supol Garba Oseni to fish out the suspects anywhere they might be hiding.

The police team arrested the pastor who led the operatives to arrest two of the suspects while others managed to escaped. During investigation, according to the police, the arrested suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and said that pastor Akinsanya allegedly paid them N500, 000 to kill the complainant to stop her soaring spiritual popularity in church ministry in Ojo, Lagos.
Quote:One of the suspects, liberty Elvis allegedly stated; “We are members of the Aiye Cult Confraternity in Ojo, Lagos since 2016 and in October, 2019, Pastor Akinsanya contracted six of us with N500,000 to help him kill the complainant for allegedly snatching his church member.
“And when we received information that she was at home, we stormed her residence to attempt to kill her, but we were surprised she was nowhere to be found and that was why we fired guns sporadically into her residence before we left.”
The pastor and others were charged before the Igbosere Chief Magistrates Court on a five-count charge bothering on attempted murder and belonging to an unlawful society called Aiye Cult Confraternity.

Police counsel, CSP Onwumere C.C informed the court that the accused persons committed the offence in October, 2019 at 1, Adeleye Street, Ojo, Lagos. Onwumere told the court that Pastor Akinsanya sponsored the two accused and others still at large to help him kill the complainant for becoming more popular than him in church ministry in Ojo, Lagos.

He said the offences, the accused persons committed were punishable under sections 411, 230(a) (b), 287 (5) (9) and 45 (1) (9) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.  Count two of the charges reads: “That you Benjamin Akinsanya, Darlington Orji, Liberty Elvis did in October, 2019 attempted to unlawfully kill one Janet Ogunsola by shooting sporadically into her residence while she was sleeping.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open court and Magistrate, A.A Famobiwo granted them N100, 000 bail each with two sureties each in the Like Sum.  Famobiwo adjourned the case till 12 December, 2019 for mention and ordered that the defendants be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till they perfected theIr bail conditions.

Samuel Opeyemi Adeojo, a former councilor in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Adeojo was fingered as the leader of a car theft syndicate notorious for stealing vehicles from car dealers through pretence as genuine buyers. Until his arrest recently, the EFCC had been on his trail after series of petitions against his gang’s criminal activities were considered by the Commission’s Ibadan zonal office.

No fewer than three cases of car theft have been established against the syndicate, with all the vehicles involved recovered and kept in the Commission’s custody in Ibadan.  Investigations revealed that the gang deploys similar pattern of tricks to steal vehicles from their victims.

According to EFCC’s findings, Adeojo often pretend to be a medical doctor, adopting different names and different institutions as his place of work to appear responsible and create false sense of confidence to penetrate the victims. One of the many cases reported involved a Toyota Avensis wagon car in which Adeojo claimed to be one Dr. Gboyega Omojola of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

The case was reported to the EFCC, Ibadan office on March 23, 2019, by Tunde Adejuwon, an Ibadan-based car dealer. According to the petitioner, ‘Dr. Omojola’ had come in company of one Babatunde Oluwatope Oni, his supposed driver, to his stand to negotiate for the car and later agreed to pay N2,000,000 for it.

After the agreement, ‘Dr. Omojola’ issued a N2m Skye Bank Cheque ostensibly in favour of the dealer and ordered his ‘driver’ to pay it into his Zenith Bank account at Bodija, Ibadan. Oni later came with a copy of the Zenith bank deposit teller, depicting ‘payment’ of the agreed sum into the dealer’s account.

It was, however, later discovered that the payment was not approved as the payer used a cloned cheque for the transaction. Unfortunately, the decline did not come until after the gang had eloped with the vehicle. A similar scenario also played out in a petition by one Mr. Amos Arole Oloja, also an Ibadan-based car dealer.

Oloja alleged that the duo drove to his car stand in an Honda CRV to price a Toyota Sienna car and agreed to pay N2,200,000 for the purchase of the vehicle. This time, Adeojo claimed to be Dr. Odumodu also of UCH, Ibadan, while Oni, his ‘driver’ gave his name as Kayode.
Oni is currently in the Agodi facility of the Nigeria Correctional Services following a court order when he was recently arraigned on one of the incidents.  Adeojo will have his day in court soon. The Commission is holding them for conspiracy, issuance of dud cheque and stealing.

Police arrest Lagos ‘pastors’ conducting fake miracles

Four self-acclaimed pastors accused of conducting fake miracles and giving out fake prophecies within Lekki and Epe have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) arrested the suspects around 5am on November 30 after investigating the activities of one Pastor Ikpom David who allegedly hired fake members for fake testimonies at his church Wonders Assembly Ministry, which is located opposite Lagos Business School in Ajah.

Pastor Favour Elijah Chimobi said to be the founder of Elijah Ministry located at 9 Igirita street Port Harcourt, also reportedly hired one Rukayat Folawewo who gave a fake testimony of recovering from an accident after being prayed for by the Pastor. Chimobi also reportedly hired another woman, Bunmi Joshua who testified that her speech and hearing impaired child got healed after being prayed for by him.

Chimobi and David reportedly worked together to fleece unsuspecting members of their money and valuables. The suspects who were busted after the women they hired for fake testimonies were arrested, will be charged to court once investigation has been concluded.

Italian police and Interpol bust two Nigerian mafia clans, arrest 32

Two Nigerian mafia clans operating in Italy to traffic and sell Nigerian women into sex slavery  have been busted by Italian police.

In a massive operation on Tuesday, 32 people were arrested in Puglia, Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Marche, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Germany, France, Netherlands and Malta.

The report by ANSA, Italian news agency did not indicate whether the 32 are all Nigerians and whether there were European collaborators arrested with them. In July, the Italian Police also announced the arrest of 19 Nigerians, said to be members of a mafia. Those probed are suspected of conspiracy, trafficking, making slaves of women, extortion, robbery, bodily harm, sexual violence and exploitation of prostitution, police said.

The probe was led by Bari anti-mafia prosecutors and coordinated by the central operational service in Rome with the help of Interpol. The investigation was carried out by the Bari flying squad. The two clans were the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and the Supreme Eye Confraternity, better known as “Reds” e “Blues”.

The gangs operated with the slogan “the three Ds”, referring to “donne, denaro e droga” (women, money and drugs).  Some 49 people were placed under investigation, all Nigerian nationals. Investigators said the women, most of them trafficked and subjected to physical and psychological violence, also via voodoo rites, were forced to become sex workers.

The proceeds of the prostitution rackets were sent to Nigeria via couriers or ‘hawala’ systems, or reinvested in drug trafficking. The probe found an exponential rise in cash flows from Italy to Nigeria, which was estimated by the Bank of Italy at 74.79 million euros in 2018, double what it had been in 2016, and consisting of 6.2 million illegal proceeds per month.

Investigators compared this to the numbers of Nigerians in Italy, equal to 105,000 as of June 30 this year – most of them men, with a lower employment rate (45.1%) than the general non-EU population (59.1%) and the highest unemployment rate (34.2% compared to 14.9% of non EU nationals).

The bust was hailed by politicians including Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader Giorgia Meloni who said “we must extirpate this cancer” and League MP Rossano Sasso who said the probe had highlighted the need, yet again, to close down the vast CARA asylum seeker centre in Bari, where much of the trafficking and drug dealing allegedly took place.

Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese said “today’s international operation attests to the attention and hard work of the investigators and police forces to combat on the whole national territory all the various ramifications of the Nigerian mafia”.

The Bari prosecutor’s office warned against exploiting the probe to tar all Nigerian migrants with the same brush. “Let there be no exploitation of this affair. The Nigerians who have been arrested are persons who committed crimes, exactly like we do with people of any colour, race or country. “Then there are very many Nigerians who asked help in the forms laid down by the law, asking the Italian State, that is, to intervene to restore order and justice”.

The Anambra state police command has declared Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, wanted following the clash at his country home in Oriaifite, a community in the state yesterday Monday December 2nd.

Recall that some members of the proscribed group clashed with men of the Nigerian police at Ejiofor's country home on Monday. The police had gone to the house for a search following a report that it was being used to hide a kidnap victim. Two police officers were killed during the clash.

The state commissioner of police, John Abang, who declared him wanted, urged members of the public with any useful information of his whereabouts to avail the police or any other security agencies of such information.

Quote:“Gentleman, I will like to let Nigerians to know that as we speak, Barrister Ejiofor, an IPOB member and his cohorts have been declared wanted by the command”.
“And I will seek the cooperation of law abiding Nigerians from North, South, East and West, wherever they find this individual, they should report to the nearest police station or any other security agency for possible arrest and prosecution” he said

Hate Speech Bill: ‘We will all be the victims’ – Segun Osoba

Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba has kicked against the controversial social media bill in its entirety, accusing the sponsor of the bill and supporting senators of an attempt to silence the press in a democratic nation.

Osoba, a veteran journalist, spoke on Monday at an event commemorating 160 years of journalism in Nigeria, held at Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Speaking on the theme, “Re-inventing the practice of Journalism in Nigeria with emphasis on the influence of the Social Media”, Osoba taunted the Senators, asking if the lawmakers or their forefathers did participate in the struggle for independence and democracy in Nigeria.

Quote:He said: “We (media practitioners) don’t deserve this treatment from Senators who are now enjoying the benefit of the war that we waged against the military to entrench democracy in Nigeria,” Osoba expressed.
“We will all be the victims of the bill if we allow it to scale through. We (media practitioners) fought the military to a standstill. You will recall many of our people lost their lives, those who are propagating a bill should remember.
Where were they when NADECO, the Media stood up to fight Abacha? Were they born? Were their forefathers fought in those days when Herbert Macaulay and co, were fighting for the liberation of the colonial system to independence and then we took it up under the military?
“We all suffered under Abacha. The Guardian was burnt. Punch was closed down. Those who were running TELL Magazine had to run out of the country into exile. I can go on with the examples of the deprivation we suffered.”
He, however, said there was a mechanism to checkmate “bad journalism” if any Nigerian finds a report to have damaged his reputation.

Quote:“A Ford KA mounted the pavement behind her. Her friend was bounced onto the bonnet before another boy was hit very bad.
“The car drove off down the road and the police arrived quickly. My daughter is safe, but the wing mirror clipped my daughter. Her friend got thrown off the bonnet.
“It was awful to witness. Everyone is in shock.'

The Essex Police who confirmed the arrest of the suspect from Loughton, said he will be charged on six counts of attempted murder and one of causing death by dangerous driving. He will also be facing charges including causing serious injury by driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving without insurance.

In one tribute posted on social media, Harley was remembered as a "caring" young boy.

Quote:The message read: "Today my little mate Harley sadly was involved in a devastated accident which has killed him.
"I know Harley did not deserve any of this because he was a caring boy and would never hurt anyone so everyone please make all your family members that drive a car, to please be careful on the roads."
It added: "Our hearts as praying with Harley's family."

Farooq Kperogi: Aisha Buhari Would Be The First Victim Of Social Media Law
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-03-2019, 02:22 PM - No Replies

Quote:If the fascistic social media strangulation bill being sponsored by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa of Niger State (BTW, why is Niger State the source of all the fascistic bills in the Senate?) becomes law, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who fancies herself as “First Lady,” would be its first victim. Here’s why.

Last week, Senator Musa said on national TV that the principal inspiration behind his sponsorship of the bill was to punish people behind the previously wildly trending social media rumor that Muhammadu Buhari was going to get married to his dabino-stealing (former) mistress, Ms. Sadiya Umar Farouq, who masquerades as “Minister” of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development even though the real minister is Fatima Mamman Daura, Mamman Daura's favorite daughter.

Well, Aisha Buhari herself confirmed this wedding rumor during her interview with BBC Hausa on October 13. “Wacce aka ace Buhari zai aura ba ta yi zaton ba za a yi auren ba,” she told BBC Hausa. Rough idiomatic translation in English: "The very woman Buhari was supposed to marry didn't expect that the wedding would not happen." In other words, according to Aisha, the wedding rumor had basis in truth and Sadiya, in fact, was prepared for the wedding until it was called off because of the unexpectedly unusual social media attention it generated.

People close to Aisha told me it was actually Aisha and her social media handlers who instigated the social media hype over the wedding in order to embarrass Mamman Daura and ultimately thwart the wedding. And they succeeded. I hope Senator Musa will come for her when he succeeds with his fascistic social media bill.

By the way, Senator Musa is the same APC party man whose company INEC contracts to produce card readers and PVCs for elections since 2015. That is ethically questionable. Of course, such a morally stained wheeler dealer would want to shut down social media to conceal his shenanigans.

Top 12 Sexiest Nollywood Actors 2019-PICTURES
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-03-2019, 01:03 PM - Replies (2)

If you have not seen a Nollywood movie recently, I regret to inform you, you’re denying yourself of flavorful eye candies and sweet dreams. In continuation of my yearly ritual of creating a thread for the Nollywood hotties that have set our screens on fire and caused some of us to reminisce on our teenage years, filled with Harlequin and Mills&Boons-endorsed strapping gentlemen with witty words and panty-wetting smiles, this is a list profiling and fawning over the men that have caused improper thoughts and re-evaluation of life choices in 2019

12. Uzor Arukwe

Our sexy nerd makes it on the list, because damn! He’s got a body on him [Image: cheesy.png]. Have you seen Uzor Arukwe’s chest acting skills? Ladies, I kid you not, behind those glasses and that awkward, nerdy demeanor, issa MAN. Uzor is an act that grows on you, I first saw him on Fine Girl alongside Lota Chukwu and Ozzy Agu, and while he was somewhat forgettable in that movie, we are so glad, movie producers and directors had better plans for him. Since then, he has impressed incredibly in movies like Hire A Woman, Sergeant Tutu and the incredibly funny, Smash. Hopefully, Uzor’s broad chest skilled acting, makes it on our screens for a very long time

11. Demola Adedoyin

Now, you know we weren’t going to center this list on broad chests and strong builds….okay, maybe we are just a lil bit, but doesn’t mean we can’t have our cuties on here. Demola Adedoyin is all levels of cute and charming, if you don’t crack a smile when he shows up on your screen, well….i have no words for you. A lot of people recognize Demola from Kunle Afolyan’s box office movie, October 1st, where he played a lead role, however, since then, Demola has featured in other movies like The Bridge alongside Chidinma Ekile and another blockbuster movie, the highly rated Kemi Adetiba movie, King Of Boys, alongside Sola Sobowale. Demola’s charming smile and cool demeanor are winning traits that keep him on our minds long after the end credits are over in any of his movies

10. Blossom Chukwujekwu

[Image: 6442722_igbankwunigeriae1476635626396862...34f9908d37]

Blossom takes up his lowest spot on this list, since its inception, and it's not because Blossom has lost his mojo. Far from it, Blossom continues to capture our attention with his charming nature, on-screen charisma (that has saved some less impressive co-stars), captivating smile and an indisputable all-round attractiveness. I mean, who wouldn't want to come home to that?

9. Alexx Ekubo

Issa baby boy :p. Our Chop Life Minister, one of the most relativele celebs on the internet, Alexx is here because….well, obviously his good looks, but beyond that, his fun personality is doubly attractive. He's so chill, like the boy next door. You want to sit and chat with him, watch movies, play around and end up in his bed [Image: wink.png]. He's the kind of guy you should never leave your girl with, lest he snatches her with his hilarious nature. Alex mostly plays roles of the pretty boy with not much of a brain, but recently, he tried to change the narrative with his role as Tu Face Lejit, a musician/activist in Power of 1, but even that role couldn't hide his playful nature.

8. Remi Kunle

[Image: rois-reine-caspule-2.jpg?resize=500%2C784&ssl=1]

….because, well, HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN KISS? [Image: shocked.gif] No? No? ohmilord! Remi should do tutorial videos for that, hell, he probably can’t teach that sort of skill. Beyond his ability to suck the soul out of any woman with searing kisses, Remi, an alumni and 2011 winner of the show that did the Lord’s work, by introducing us to some of the attractive men in our entertainment space, Gulder Ultimate Search, is actually a very good actor. He’s been in movies such as Tiwa’s Baggage alongside another alumni and winner of a reality show, Bhayra McWizu, and Falling alongside the brilliant Adesua Etomi, in both movies, Remi has held his own against these women, selling us fantasies we can’t afford and with movies like Quagmire, he doesn’t look ready to end his sales

Adoke protests against continued detention in Dubai

Demands removal of name from Malabu oil scam trial

A former attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) has decried what he described as “his continued illegal detention” by the INTERPOL in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Adoke, through his counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), yesterday told the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja that he was still being held in Dubai despite the order made by the court on October 25 vacating its earlier arrest warrant issued against him.

Ozekhome lodged the complaint at the resumed hearing of a fresh suit instituted by Adoke against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on November 6 praying the court to strike out his name from earlier charges filed against him, Shell Production Limited and nine others by the anti-graft agency.

The former minister was arrested on November 11 in Dubai and there have been media reports of a move by the Nigerian authorities for his extradition to Nigeria to face charges on the alleged Malabu oil scandal. Specifically, the anti-corruption commission had in 2017 filed charges against Adoke and the others in a case bordering on alleged fraudulent allocation of the Oil Prospecting Licence (OPL) 245 and other offences, including a $1.2 billion fraud, forgery of bank documents, bribery and corruption.

The alleged $1.2 billion scam involved the transfer of the OPL 245 purportedly from Malabu Oil and Gas Limited to Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Co. Limited and Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited.

A sitting of the court presided over by Justice Danladi Senchi at the FCT High Court, Jabi District, had on April 17 issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Adoke and other defendants in the case. The judge, however, vacated the arrest warrant on October 25, following an application made by Ozekhome before the court to that effect. At yesterday’s hearing, Ozekhome informed the court that the former AGF had filed an application seeking the removal of his name from the charge sheet.

According to the senior advocate, the application was filed on November 5 but was served on the prosecution by the court bailiff on November 27. He stated that the prosecution counsel, Offem Uket, told him (Ozekhome) that he (Uket) was away when the application was served on the prosecution and as such could not respond to it appropriately. He then disclosed that both parties had agreed that the matter be adjourned till Wednesday, December 4 to enable the prosecution to respond to Adoke’s application.

This was confirmed by Uket, who promised that by Tuesday (today), he would have responded, filed and served a response to the application. Ozekhome further informed the court that despite its October 25 order setting aside the arrest warrant issued on Adoke, the former AGF was still being held in Dubai.

The senior advocate informed the court that Adoke protested against his arrest by the Interpol, which he said was against Chapter 3 of the Interpol Article since the said warrant had been vacated by the court that initially issued it.He added that all decent steps to ensure that the former AGF was released, including writing the EFCC, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), UAE authorities and the Interpol, had been taken but did not yield any result.

Lamenting the situation, Ozekhome said “it is the duty of the AGF to ensure that the rights of every Nigerian citizen are protected.”Justice Senchi adjourned the case till today to hear the application. In the application, Adoke is praying for an order of the court “striking out the name of Bello Mohammed Adoke (SAN), as a defendant in charge number FCT/HC/CR/124/17 between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Co Ltd & 10 others, pending before this honourable court.”He hinged the prayer, among others, on the fact that he had secured a judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja against the attorney-general of the federation, representing the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in which he was completely exculpated with respect to the facts and circumstances relating to the Malabu oil scam.

Ozekhome argued that having been exonerated in the scandal by Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, the inclusion of Adoke’s name as a defendant in the criminal case was erroneous.According to the senior advocate, EFCC concealed the April 13, 2018 judgment by Justice Nyako in which the court held that Adoke could not be held liable for any infraction in the whole Malabu oil saga for carrying out a presidential directive from the FCT High Court.

More hurdles for economy as OPEC, stakeholders meet

• Experts warn of recession, FX scarcity imminent

• ‘Why 2020 budget estimate for oil price, production is unrealistic’

Economists and other stakeholders in the oil and gas sector yesterday predicted a bumpy road for Nigeria’s N146.96 trillion economy, insisting that prevailing realities at the international oil market could worsen the nation’s fiscal outlook, especially the implementation of the N10.33 trillion 2020 budget. They also raised the alarm over another slip into recession and shortage of foreign exchange, given that the nation’s foreign reserve has depleted to about $40.95 billion.

The experts spoke ahead of a meeting of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other allies next tomorrow, where an agreement that could impact future oil prices may be reached. Though they expressed optimism in the continuous extension of oil production cut by OPEC and its allies to stabilise oil prices at the international market, they noted that Nigeria’s economy, with reference especially to the 2020 budget, remains volatile.

In the proposed 2020 budget, the Federal Government estimated oil sales to stand at 2.18 million bpd at a price of $57 per barrel, while the exchange rate is expected to remain N305 per dollar. But last week, the prices fell, eroding the increase recorded in November. West Texas Intermediate dropped more than four percent to settle at $55.17; Brent plummeted by $1.44 to settle at $62.43, while Bonny Light slumped by $1.9 to settle at $62.15. On Monday afternoon, WTI stood at $56.63, Brent at $62.08 while Bonny Light was $62.15.

Already, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has pointed to a looming oil glut, especially due to uncertainties clouding the global economy. IEA had reduced demand growth forecast by 100,000 bpd for both 2019 and 2020 to 1 million bpd and 1.2 million bpd, respectively. While data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) shows that Nigeria’s foreign reserves dropped by $812 million to $40.95 billion as at October 18, 2019, there have been doubts over growth rate for the global economy; most analysts are pessimistic about a stabilising oil price due to the current U.S.-China trade war, Brexit, and the crippling growth of major economies particularly China, India, Germany and others.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Nigeria was worth $397.30 billion in 2018, representing 0.64 percent of GDP world economy. It averaged $125.26 billion from 1960 until 2018, reaching an all-time high of $568.50 billion in 2014 and a record low of $4.20 USD billion in 1960.While the GDP grew by 2.28 per cent year-on-year in real terms in the third quarter of 2019 as against 1.81 percent recorded in the third quarter of 2018, the stakeholders feared that the looming glut and possible cut in Nigeria’s production share at the OPEC meeting could erode the increase in the GDP, especially as inflation rate in Nigeria rose to its highest in eight months, hitting 11.61 percent in October, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

The 2020 fiscal budget remains in a deficit, noted Prof. Segun Ajibola, a former chairman of council, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, Caleb University. According to him, any cut in Nigeria’s quota below the projected level of 2.18 barrels per day would have a devastating effect on the budget implementation, worsening the projected deficit.

“As we inch close to the end of 2019, the foreign exchange reserve is at a low of $39 billion. At the current price of about $63, the price is still okay for the 2020 budget but there is no assurance that it won’t go down. Another challenge is the penchant of some OPEC members for disobeying quotas, especially those from the Middle East,” Ajibola said.

The only way out for Nigeria, Ajibola explained, is to reduce overdependence on oil as a source of revenue through a complete overhaul of the monolithic structure that has been the hallmark of Nigeria’s economy since the 1970s.In the face of mounting debt service and growing temptation to borrow an additional $29 billion, Ajibola said a cut in Nigeria’s quota would drive down foreign exchange earnings. “The economy is still stressed and we must pray and work hard so that it does not slip into another recession,” he warned.

Renowned energy economist, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, of the Department of Economics, and Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law, University of Ibadan, said the outlook for crude oil price in 2020 is not very bright. He observed that the price of oil could hover around $58 per barrel in 2020, a development that would slightly be above the 2020 budget price of $57.

OPEC had previously adjusted Nigeria’s quota to 1.77 million bpd, up from 1.69 million bpd. Though Nigeria, since March this year, reportedly failed to comply, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources said production has been reset to fully comply with the cartel.Adenikinju said further: “The fact is that Nigeria’s budget might become harder to implement. There will be no room for fiscal buffer and hence more reliance on debt to finance government expenses. The outlook for the states would even be worse as the new minimum wage kicks in, and with limited alternative sources of funding.”

He noted that the current fiscal projection for the oil sector is unrealistic. It would be better, he said, for the National Assembly to adopt a more conservative estimate for oil price and oil production, to allow for a more realistic budget that will prepare the economy against various vulnerabilities and uncertainties in the global economy.

Though Nigeria had enjoyed waiver from OPEC’s production cut, it might be difficult for such exemption to be granted, said Habeeb Jaiyeola, PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Associate Director, Energy, Utilities & Resources.“If we are granted a waiver, it will be good for us because our economy depends clearly on oil. That will allow us to push volume into the market and generate more revenue. However, if they do not grant us a waiver, it will have direct effect on our economy because our revenue is directly linked to oil,” Jaiyeola said.

The chairman, International Energy Services (IES) Ltd., Dr. Diran Fawibe, said the outcome of OPEC’s meeting would most likely be an extension of current production cut, noting that there was a need to firm up the prices such that oil would remain above $60 per barrel.Urging Nigeria to support a policy that would make price favourable, particularly for budget implementation, Fawibe said large producers like Russia and Saudi would likely agree to cut in production.

The oil estimate for the budget is too optimistic; Nigeria’s quota cannot be up to 2.2 million barrel per day, Diran said. He however advised the country to work towards producing condensates, since the OPEC production cut does not include condensates. This, Diran said, would shore up production level and increase revenue.

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, meanwhile, has warned that the “the days of crude oil are numbered.” He made the disclosure in Owerri, the state capital, during the Ahiajoku festival, which traditionally ushers in the harvest season.Urging Nigerians to “as a matter of urgency prepare for life after crude oil,” the governor stressed: “Till date, palm oil remains one of the most important cash crops in the region and it could serve as a major driver for economic development.”

NIGERIAN equities closed the first trading session in December with marginal decline as investors sought to monetise capital gains that had accrued over the past three weeks. Benchmark indices at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) indicated average decline of 0.04 per cent, equivalent to net capital depreciation of N6 billion.

The decline depressed the average year-todate return to -14.13 per cent. The All Share Index (ASI)- the common value-based index that tracks share prices at the NSE, dropped from its opening index of 27,002.15 points to close at 26,990.59 points. Aggregate market value of all quoted equities also declined from its opening value of N13.033 trillion to close at N13.027 trillion.

With 17 decliners to 12 advancers, the decline yesterday was largely due to profit-taking transactions across the sectors as investors sought to lock in values. Most sectoral indices closed negative, underlining the widespread profittaking sentiment.

The NSE Industrial Goods Index dropped by 1.20 per cent.

The NSE Banking Index dipped by 0.16 per cent while the NSE Oil and Gas Index slipped by 0.15 per cent. On the upside, the NSE Insurance Index appreciated by 1.02 per cent while the NSE Consumer Goods Index rose by 0.71 per cent. Cement Company of Northern Nigeria led the decliners with a drop of N1 to close at N19. UAC of Nigeria followed with a loss of 70 kobo to close at N7.30 while GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria dropped by 25 kobo to close at N6.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, says he will throw his weight behind the controversial hate speech bill if the first victims to be sanctioned are President Buhari, Bola Tinubu, Nasir El-Rufai, Festus Keyamo and Rotimi Amaechi for the ''hateful words they have spoken over the years.''

•Arrowheads scheme for CP as replacement

Quote:Adetutu Folasade-Koyi , Abuja

Forces against acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, have intensified efforts to ease him out before the end of the year.

Sponsors and leaders of the plot have allegedly recruited some civil society organisations (CSOs) to begin series of protests against his continued stay in office on the premise that his four-year tenure ended on November 9.

Meetings to that effect have reportedly held in choice hotels in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Lagos. To kickstart the game plan, the selected CSO’s are expected to address series of press conferences where certain allegations against EFCC, under Magu, would be unveiled.
Also to come are sponsored rallies against the Commission in Abuja and Lagos with the intent to attack Magu’s integrity.

Already, they have sponsored petitions before the House of Representatives, with certain allegations against the EFCC.

A source privy to the plot also added that “they are also claiming that Magu has served the statutory four years as EFCC boss (as stipulated in the EFCC Act), and that President Muhammadu Buhari ought to have forwarded a replacement to the Senate for confirmation. They are also relying on Sections 2 (3) and 3 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, to buttress their arguments.”

Section 2 (3) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act (2004)states that: “The chairman and members of the Commission, other than ex-officio members shall be appointed by the president and appointment shall be subject to the confirmation of the Senate while section 3 (1) states that “the chairman and members of the Commission, other than ex-officio members shall hold office for a period of four years and may be re-appointed for a further term of four years and no more.”

Regardless, a sponsor of the project has been identified as a high profile defendant in a money laundering and corruption matter in the oil and gas sector.

“The well-heeled player in the oil sector, who has close relationship with a former oil minister, has mobilised huge funds to fund this campaign of character assassination and misinformation against Magu,” said another source.

Another set of opposition against his continued stay in office “have even gone ahead to recommend a serving Commissioner of Police, also from the North, as his replacement.”

The Presidential Villa, has, however, remained silent about Magu’s tenure. Till date, the president has not made public, his views on Magu’s status. Besides, the president is keeping his decision on Magu to his chest as none of those close to him in Aso Rock can actually speak authoritatively on the matter.

In March 2017, Senate rejected Magu’s nomination after the Department of State Security (DSS) reaffirmed its position that he lacked the integrity to lead the anti-corruption agency.

“In the light of the foregoing, Magu has failed the integrity test and will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption stand of the current government,” the DSS report indicated then.

At the confirmatory screening, which held in the Committee of the Whole of the eighth Senate, Magu questioned the credibility of the DSS which he said dispatched two reports on him with varying contents on the same day.

“What do you say about credibility of that agency?” he queried.

In December 2016, DSS had submitted two contradictory reports to the Senate – one approving Magu’s confirmation and the other asking that he be rejected. Senate opted to reject Magu’s confirmation based on a report critical of him.

Saraki reacts as court orders forfeiture of his houses
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-03-2019, 10:01 AM - No Replies

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered an interim forfeiture of two houses in Ilorin, Kwara State belonging to the immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had approached the court presided over by Justice Ridwan Aikawa, for an order of interim forfeiture of the properties said to worth about N 1 billion on the ground that it was acquired through the proceeds of unlawful activity.

The anti-graft agency told the court in an exparte application that it ‘‘uncovered monumental fraud perpetrated in the treasury of the Kwara State Government between 2003 and 2011’’, when Saraki was governor of the state. ADVERTISEMENT Based on the application, the court ordered the temporary forfeiture of Saraki’s two properties designated as Plots No. 10 and No. 11 Abdulkadir Road, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State. An operative of the EFCC, Olamide Sadiq, said in an affidavit filed in support of the ex parte application that the move for the forfeiture of the houses followed the findings of the EFCC after investigation and “the report of a committee set up to review sale of Kwara State Government houses during the reign of the Governor of Kwara State in the year 2003 and 2011.”

He said the EFCC also received “a damning intelligence report, showing monumental fraud perpetrated in the treasury of the Kwara State Government between 2003 and 2011.” Sadiq said, “Whilst the investigation was ongoing, several fraudulent transactions were discovered. “That whilst he (Saraki) held the aforementioned position (governor of Kwara State), the common pattern was that after payment of monthly allocation by the Federal Government to the Kwara State Government, a cumulative sum of not less than N100million will be deposited into the Kwara Government House account.

“That upon the payment of the said N100million, same will, in turn, be withdrawn in cash by one Mr Afeez Yusuf from the Kwara State Government House, Ilorin’s account in bits and brought to the Government House.” The EFCC said it believed that Saraki developed the two properties with proceeds of unlawful activities. Counsel for the commission, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, thereafter urged Justice Aikawa to order their temporary forfeiture to the Federal Government. In granting the order, Justice Aikawa directed the EFCC to publish the temporary forfeiture order in a national newspaper.

The judge adjourned the matter to December 17 for anyone interested in the properties to appear before him to show cause why the properties should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government. Meanwhile, Dr. Saraki has reiterated his position that the application to the Federal High Court, Lagos, for interim forfeiture order on his Ilorin home by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is an abuse of the court process and a violation of a subsisting order of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, noted that the Federal High Court in Abuja presided by Justice Taiwo Taiwo had given an order “restraining the respondents (Commission) by themselves, their subordinates, agents, servants, or privies whosoever, from seizing, impounding, taking over, confiscating or otherwise forfeiting the Applicant’s (Saraki) right to own and peacefully enjoy any of his assets and properties”.

Bode George Appeals To Foreign Nations Not To Lend Any Money To Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Olabode George, a Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to foreign nations not to lend President Muhammadu Buhari any money, saying the wastages in Nigeria is alarming.

Speaking in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT on the $29.96billion 2016-2018 external borrowing plan sent by President Buhari to the Senate for its consideration and approval, George said foreign nations will be laughing at Nigeria for borrowing money while a lot of financial wastages was going on in the country.

He said some of the wastages include adverts placed in Cable News Network (CNN) by local companies such as Globacom, Zenith Bank and Dangote.

“President Buhari wants to go and borrow money now. They will ask him ‘look at the wastages in your country’. Why should they give him money? They should give him nothing. How many African countries do you see these kinds of thing? All these unnecessary adverts on CNN by Nigerian companies on products that are purely Nigerian is pure wastage.

“ABSA bank in South Africa, have you ever seen them on CNN? Yet, their capital base is bigger than all Nigerian banks put together. So, what is this egocentrism all about? There are people who are hungry in this country.

“All those money wasted on adverts will feed millions of people. I think the federal government should clamp down on them. For every one dollar, you spent on CNN adverts, you create a special purse for one dollar being put there. That money can then be used for skill acquisition for younger people. It is wasteful and egocentric.

“We are the people who are buying your products, satisfy us and stop wasting the money. Your systems are not healthy, bad network, poor data services and so on.

“Look at Tony Elumelu doing adverts on CNN saying he is satisfying Africa. Has he satisfied his village? What about the poverty in his village? I want to go with him to his village and see the level of poverty in that place. They are making the rest of the world to hate us,” he said.

Heartbreaking video shows two children's reaction after their father, grandmother and great aunt were killed as Maarat al-Numan market was hit by a Russian bomber

A heartbreaking video shows the reaction of two siblings after they were informed of their father's death in a Syria vegetable market known as the Maarat al-Numan.

No fewer than 10 civilians were killed and more than a dozen shoppers were injured when the fruit and vegetable market was bombed by the Russia-backed Syrian regime.

The attacks on the vegetable market in Maarat al-Numan happened after fierce clashes had taken place between Syrian regime and rebel forces in northwest Syria, according to Alaraby.co.uk. It was some of the most intense fighting between the two sides in months, with a ceasefire covering Idlib rapidly disintegrating following massive Russian and regime airstrikes on towns in the northwest Syrian province.

The Syrian regime have frequently targeted markets in opposition areas during the war with devastating affect. Dozens of civilians were killed earlier this year when Syrian regime and Russian air raids targeted the same vegetable market.

Videos of the aftermath of the violence was shared to Twitter and one heartbreaking video shows the reaction of two children when they learnt they had lost their father, grandmother, and great aunt in the Syrian regime bombing.

The children - Nour and her brother Salem - were covered in blood, having barely escaped alive, and they were devastated when they found out their loved ones were killed.

"Please tell me my dad is still alive. Please be alive my dad," Nour cried in the video.

Twitter users have reacted in outrage and are calling out Putin for the senseless murder of innocent civilians after Maarat al-Numan "was hit by a Russian bomber."

There are dead people due to the shooting between the Hausa guys and the police men. One mama in our bus was shot while we were running. I've not recovered, still shivering.
Because of #100 o, how are some people different from animals?

  Tyrod Taylor Jersey ,

Thursday night football is here to stay Tyrod Taylor Jersey , even if it’s gone for the rest of 2018.In past years, some — make that many — would have said “good riddance.” That would be misguided this year.First off, Fox’s presentation generally was strong and on target. Indeed, Troy Aikman, who has been Fox’s lead analyst for 17 years, might have had his best season.Seemingly energized by having a true national game, in prime time with no competition, Aikman not only was spot-on with his analyses, he was more than willing to criticize play calling, performance and officiating.Presenting your convictions and then sticking to them is a must for a top analyst, and Aikman came through for viewers the way he did as a three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback for Dallas.“I think after 17 years of doing it somewhat the same way, this was an opportunity to kind of change up my schedule,” says Aikman, who at first had some reservations about balancing his family and business responsibilities.“I think that is fair to say ‘energized.’ It felt more like an event, being the only game, and in prime time. On Sunday afternoon, especially for the late game, it sure seems like that’s when most people prefer to view football. But the prime time has a little bigger of a feel to it.“We did not feel as restricted to the action on the field; we never feel completely restricted. It certainly freed me up and allowed me to have even more fun within the broadcast.”Fox also wound up with some very solid matchups with intriguing storylines. Yes, NBC had the season opener, a Thursday nighter hosted by the champion Eagles in a rematch of a January playoff game with the Falcons. That wound up 18-12, eerily similar to Philadelphia’s previous win over Atlanta. It also, of course, didn’t have two teams coming off short weeks. Then Baker Mayfield Color Rush Jersey , Fox prospered with three of the better games of the entire season, games that wouldn’t have had the same cachet later in the schedule.Cincinnati’s 34-23 victory over Baltimore — look at where those two teams reside now! — was entertaining, with Andy Dalton torching the Ravens with four touchdown passes. It also had the added spice of the Bengals having knocked the Ravens out of playoff contention in the 2017 finale.A week later — and this was Aikman at his best, even if Jets fans swear play-by-play voice Joe Buck was outwardly rooting for the hosts — the Browns finally got a win, with Baker Mayfield stamping himself as an emerging force in just the third game of his rookie year.“There were so much expectations with Baker Mayfield in that city. The team had not won a lot of games, and the fans were expecting the team would start to win games, so there was this optimism around the city,” Aikman recalls.“Having been there for the preseason and then we go back in the regular season, you could just feel this energy building and it was a fan base that just wanted to celebrate. And then Baker comes off the bench to lead them to that victory. It was huge and fun to be a part of.”Jets-Cleveland was followed by the Rams‘ 38-31 shootout victory against the Vikings, when Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins combined for eight TD throws and 887 yards through the air.For those enamored of the video-game fireworks, well, that was nirvana. There was plenty of offense all year, even with only three full days between games. Oddly, the only Thursday nighter with teams coming off a previous Thursday contest, Saints at Cowboys the week after Thanksgiving, had the fewest points, 13-10 for the Cowboys. That also was a mesmerizing drama in which Dallas’ defense stamped itself as capable of carrying a contender, shutting down Drew Brees and the ultra-prolific Saints. It also might have featured Aikman and Buck’s best work.“I have become comfortable with where I am at within my job, so to speak,” Aikman says. “I always have been comfortable with my opinions and how I feel about the play on the field, and how it should be done and how teams should go about playing the game.“There have been a lot of league issues and things happening as it relates to our game. I am not trying to grandstand or get on a soap box; that’s not my nature. I think I have to be honest in how I feel, and I feel strongly enough in my beliefs to feel I am speaking for the majority of the people viewing.”There was a string of nine Thursday nighters, including New Orleans’ 31-17 victory over Atlanta on Thanksgiving night on NBC https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Emmanuel-Ogbah-Jersey , in which it took at least 27 points to win. The Steelers went for 52 against Carolina, Denver scored 45 vs. Arizona, and Houston got 42 on Miami. So complaints about not enough rest between games mostly would come from defensive players — the same folks who have protested, often with validity, about how the rules are stacked against them. Two teams never made it to the Thursday night spotlight, Tampa Bay and Buffalo. Nobody missed them.Three others had Thursday outings, but on Thanksgiving afternoon, when Chicago visited Detroit and Washington was at Dallas. The Eagles, Cowboys, Saints and Falcons all had two Thursday appearances. Aikman and Buck had 14 such games, including Redskins-Cowboys in the late-afternoon Thanksgiving spot. They doubled up Thursday/Sunday assignments seven times. The longtime partnership Aikman and Buck share made the extra duties much easier to handle.“Joe is unbelievable, such a ridiculous talent,” Aikman says. “Joe is as gifted at his craft as anyone I played with. It’s a real marvel how smooth he is and what he sees.“It’s like being married, when you’ve been around someone for so long you know their habits and patterns, and I know where Joe wants to go right from the start, how he wants to set the tone.”Overall, ratings for the 13-game Thursday night package on Fox, with its simulcast on NFL Network, were up 2 percent over the 2017 season split between CBS and NBC. The average was 14,304,000 viewers, with Chargers-Chiefs in the last of the midweek games shattering the competition at 17.4 million on Fox/NFLN. That also was a 29-28 outcome in which LA scored a TD and 2-point conversion to win at the very end.NFL games on Thursday nights are a money maker, so much so that the World Series in October hasn’t had a scheduled game that night since 2013. Of course Denzel Ward Jersey , Fox now has the rights to both, and has no plans to create such a conflict.Wait, how about the World Series leading into Thursday night football? Much like the Duke Johnson headline earlier, we also had a second story come out on Thursday about the Cleveland Browns, this time regarding the working relationship between head coach Freddie..." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesDawgs EDTMuch like the Duke Johnson headline earlier, we also had a second story come out on Thursday about the Cleveland Browns, this time regarding the working relationship between head coach Freddie Kitchens and offensive coordinator Todd Monken. First, let’s start with what Mike Silver of the NFL Network said about Monken’s transition to Cleveland “not going as smoothly as planned.”Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer added this information as a follow-up to Silver’s report, downplaying Kitchens’ greater role on offense as a normal part of the offseason process:It’s important sometimes not to read too much into details. It’s easy to hear that things with Monken “aren’t going as smoothly as planned,” but that’s not a bad thing. There are so many tasks at work in which I optimistically think one way, and then once I start diving into it, I realize, “ah, crap, this has some more moving pieces than I expected.” And, the fact that Monken is adapting the offense to mesh his scheme with Kitchens’ scheme, it should be expected that there would be some bumps in the road. The surprise would be if things did go extremely smooth, right? Lane Adkins of The OBR echos this mentality:So, like I said to kick off the Duke Johnson post, it is definitely the offseason!

head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense in a game Brett Hundley Color Rush Jersey , but the start of the offseason program means some hints about how the offense will look are starting to come to light.Wide receiver Davante Adams shared one when he spoke to reporters on Wednesday. Randall Cobb is in Dallas and the team doesn’t have an obvious slot receiver, which has led to plans for Adams to move inside at times during the 2019 season.Adams said that he sees potential positives to that arrangement.“I think that’s something that Matt is definitely looking forward to having me do, and I’m definitely looking forward to doing the same thing,” Adams said, via PackersNews.com. “I think the versatility is putting these defenses in a bind as far as coverages they can play and guys they can match with. [They] may not want to travel so-and-so with me inside. If that will take their No. 1 off me, and I can get some mismatches maybe on the backer or the safety or anybody else, I think that is beneficial.”Quarterback Aaron Rodgers noted Adams has the ability to play a variety of roles and it seems that Green Bay has designs on taking advantage of that ability any way they can. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Every year, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy nips any playoff talk in the bud by saying it’s not a topic of conversation until the team wins 10 games. The Packers hit the season’s midpoint with a 3-4-1 record, meaning there is little margin for error after back-to-back losses to two of the NFL’s powerhouses. To reach double-digits in victories, the Packers will have to win seven of their final eight games. That quest begins with a return home to face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.“We’re focused on winning No. 4. That’s all we’re talking about right now,” McCarthy said on Monday https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Kyle-Murphy-Jersey , a day after a 31-17 loss to the New England Patriots.“We improved as a football team the last two weeks, but you have to play your best football coming down the stretch. We’re not playing to the level we need to play in the fourth quarter.”In the final seven minutes of last week’s 29-27 loss at the Los Angeles Rams, the Packers failed to extend a 27-26 lead, had a bad punt, gave up the go-ahead field goal and fumbled the ensuing kickoff. On the first play of the fourth quarter against the Patriots, the Packers were driving into scoring position when running back Aaron Jones fumbled. The Patriots used a pass from receiver Julian Edelman to running back James White to set up the go-ahead touchdown, forced the Packers to punt, then added an insurance touchdown. Not only did the Packers lose the game, but they lost ground in the NFC North to Chicago (5-3), which routed Buffalo for its second consecutive win, and Minnesota (5-3-1), which beat Detroit for its fourth win in five games. After hosting Miami (5-4) Justin Vogel Jersey , Green Bay goes back on the road to face Seattle (4-4) and Minnesota.“The games in November are really where teams historically start to separate one way or the other,” McCarthy said. “Our focus is really on our self-scout and things we’ve been working on. The last two weeks, we’re not finishing games.”The problems run across all three phases. Defensively, the Packers have failed to get a takeaway the past two weeks. On special teams, there was Ty Montgomery’s fumble on the kickoff return against the Rams and two penalties against the Patriots. On offense, Green Bay has run a total of 22 plays in the fourth quarter the past two weeks. Against the Patriots, the fourth quarter started with a fumble, continued with a three-and-out and ended with a fourth-down failure.“We’re not hitting on all cylinders,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “We’re hurting ourselves with negative-yardage plays and missed throws and turnovers at the wrong time and not being on the same page too many times, whether I’m missing a throw or we’re not in the spot I think we’re going to be at, it’s happening in the worst times. When we have to play our best in those crunch times, we haven’t been playing our best.”To get on track Justin McCray Color Rush Jersey , the Packers are going to have to play through some injuries. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee), safety Kentrell Brice (knee), cornerback Kevin King (hamstring) and linebacker Blake Martinez (ankle) were knocked out of the game by injuries.Martinez, who was injured when he stepped on the ankle of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, returned for the final couple of series.“I pride myself on being a tough guy and I didn’t want to leave my team,” Martinez said.“I knew if I could run straight and do certain things, I could go out there and finish the game.”According to McCarthy, King will be “hard pressed” to be ready to face the Dolphins. Bulaga, who’s suffered major injuries to both knees, avoided a significant injury and could be back for Sunday. Receiver Geronimo Allison might need surgery after suffering a groin injury at Thursday’s practice.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 3RD DECEMBER.

PERFECTION IS POSSIBLE

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

Some people, because they haven’t been accurately taught the Word, believe and hold on to wrong teachings and ideas for many years. That something sounds nice and religious doesn’t mean it’s consistent with God’s Word. For example, there’re those who say, “We’re never going to be perfect. As long as we’re in this physical body, we’re going to sin; we’re going to keep making mistakes.” But this isn’t what the Bible teaches.

Many of those who have such beliefs got it from their own experiences. They think everybody else is making mistakes somehow, because they’re making mistakes in their own lives. So, they don’t believe in perfection. But the problem is that they don’t know what perfection in Christ is. When you study the Word, there’s no place that suggests to us the impossibility of perfection.

We read in our theme verse: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” The word, “perfect” is the Greek, “teleios,” meaning “full grown”; complete and nothing lacking. In this verse, God wants you to measure your heart with the heart of God. And the way to do this is through the Word.

When you think, love and forgive others as God wants you to; when you have the heart of the Father, that’s being perfect as He is perfect. If we couldn’t be perfect, God would never require it of us. Inspire those around you by the excellence of your life, and the perfection with which you do what you do, through the Spirit. The Bible says He’s called us to “glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). That means He’s called you to excellence; therefore, living an excellent life is native to your spirit.

Believe in perfection, for that’s your life and nature in Christ Jesus. The Bible says He died to present you sin-free and perfect before the Father: “And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in sight” (Colossians 1:21-22 NKJV).

CONFESSION

I have the mind of Christ; therefore, the perfection of the Spirit works in me, for He’s called me to glory and excellence! I’m perfect and flawless, lacking nothing, because as He is, so am I in this world. I’m unblameable, unreproveable and complete in Christ. My life is an expression of His perfections and glory, to the praise and glory of His Name. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

3RD DECEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word has imparted wisdom to my spirit and my mind is renewed to think at Your level; thoughts that are consistent with Your eternal purpose and will for my life.

Thank You for choosing me before the foundation of the world that I should be holy, blameless and accepted in Your presence, according to the good pleasure of Your will.

I function in the consciousness
and boldness that I am justified and have peace with You, enjoying an indissoluble oneness with You, to the praise and glory of Your grace.

I declare that all things are mine! I lack nothing, because the Lord is my sufficiency; He makes me lie down in green pasture; He leads me beside the still waters! His divine power has given me all things that pertain to life and godliness. Glory to His Name forever. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Amid talk that Peyton Manning doesn’t want the job

running the Jets’ front office Anthony Castonzo Jersey , an old friend and teammate says what Manning really wants is a job with the ultimate authority to run a football team.Former Colts receiver Reggie Wayne said on NFL Network that he doesn’t believe Manning wants a job working for an NFL owner, he thinks Manning wants to be an NFL owner.“General Manager? Absolutely not,” Wayne said. “You think Peyton Manning would give an owner an opportunity to fire him, or have a head coach back stab him and throw shade and get him fired?”Wayne said Manning may call the shots in an NFL front office some day, but only when it’s his office.“What I do see him doing is being an owner. I see him being an owner somewhere down the line. That’s more a Peyton Manning move,” Wayne said.Manning has made hundreds of millions of dollars between his salary and endorsements, and has rich family members as well, but even then he would also need to find investors to come up with the money, as Wayne seems to realize.“He has plenty of it, his dad has plenty of it, his brother has plenty of it,” Wayne said. “There would be a lot of people out there who would help supply the money.”Wayne thinks once Manning is an owner, that’s when he’ll also be G.M.“I think he’ll be the new, modern Jerry Jones,” Wayne said. We’re not sure if Wayne meant that comparison as a compliment or not. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Darius Leonard chose No. 53 so he could follow in his half-brother’s footsteps. The Indianapolis Colts rookie linebacker soon learned he had much larger shoes to fill.Leonard has embraced the legacy of Edwin Jackson, who wore the same jersey number with the Colts before he was killed in a February traffic accident. Now Leonard will honor Jackson’s memory during the NFL’s annual My Cause My Cleats celebration Ryan Kelly Color Rush Jersey , something Jackson’s family endorses.“When my family and I watch Darius, we see the same passion and fire Edwin played with” said Adam Jackson, Edwin’s brother. “Edwin often talked about how he represented a lot of people when he was on the field, and that he wanted to make them proud and give them a show. It seems like this is similar for Darius Leonard. From what I have read about Darius, he was considered an underdog coming out of college just like Edwin. They both used this underdog mentality as fuel to become NFL starters for the Colts.”The similarities go far deeper than numbers and resume lines, though. Both were largely overlooked by big-name colleges because of their size. Both far exceeded expectations at Football Championship Subdivision schools and impressed NFL coaches with their ability to run from sideline to sideline. Both won over their pro teammates with fun-loving personalities and their passion for the sport and both embraced giving back to their communities.Leonard knew nothing about Jackson when the Colts drafted him in the second round, No. 36 overall, in April. It wasn’t until he requested the number of his half brother, former NFL player Anthony Waters, that Leonard got a crash course in what Jackson meant to the organization.“He was a great person, he came from a great family and he was great to be around,” second-year linebacker Anthony Walker said. “He was one of the guys I was closest to last year, and he kind of took me under his wing and showed me how it worked in the NFL.”Now Walker finds himself fulfilling Jackson’s old role by serving as a mentor, to Leonard — the league’s leading tackler heading into Sunday’s game at Jacksonville (3-8) and a bona fide candidate as defensive rookie of the year. The starting tandem and locker mates seem to thoroughly enjoy trading stories, doubling as comics and playfully teasing one another during locker room interviews in the same fashion. They’re loud and full of joy — just like Jackson, who was nicknamed “Pound Cake” after walking on at Georgia Southern and being cut by the Arizona Cardinals in 2015 before landing in Indy.“It seems like his personality and who he was is very similar to who I am https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Margus-Hunt-Jersey ,” said Leonard, who was dubbed “Maniac” during his college years at South Carolina State following an 19-tackle game against Clemson in September 2016.Leonard’s performance caught the attention of Colts general manager Chris Ballard, who also was a huge fan of Jackson and his radiant smile that seemed to welcome anybody who came into the locker room. And it led Leonard to this place — where he, Walker and injured safety Mathias Farley intend to wear specially-designed cleats to help raise money and awareness for the Edwin Jackson 53 Foundation. In this, the third year of the cleats program, organizers have expanded it to a three-week window so every player has a chance to participate in front of their home fans.Indy’s chance comes Dec. 16 against Dallas — a potentially huge game for an organization that has won five straight to climb back into playoff contention — and Jackson’s brother will attend the game.It will be Adam Jackson’s second trip to Indy for a tribute. He and his family also came back Sept. 30 when the Colts played a highlight reel of Jackson on the stadium’s big screens and donated $32,000 to the foundation. Indy lost that game in overtime but won over the hearts of the Jackson family.“It was a special moment for all of us,” he said. “We followed him everywhere from elementary school to Georgia Southern, all the way up to Indianapolis. It was a touching moment to walk in the same footsteps Edwin had walked and see how much his hard work was appreciated and how much it still is appreciated.”And now Adam Jackson will get to see the appreciation once more through the fittingly fancy footwork of Walker and Leonard.“Darius is also part of the same college fraternity as Edwin’s grandfather, Omega Psi Phi,” he said. “So I think if anyone is going to wear Edwin’s jersey, it should be Darius, and he has represented the number 53 quite well.”
