Family: 'Sowore Injected With A Substance, He Must Not Die After Humiliation'
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:The family of embattled Omoyele Sowore has expressed deep concern over state of health of their son.

According to a statement jointly signed by Deacon S.M Omoyeni, Olusegun Sowore and Robert Sowore, the Publisher of Sahara Reporters was allegedly ‘ injected’ with an unknown substance and beaten by one of the prosecuting counsel.

This development, they said happened in the presence of the Department of State Security Service(DSS) inside the Federal High Courtroom, where he had been summoned for hearing of a suit.

Sowore’s family said” We are seriously worried when this assault happened openly inside the courtroom, a court which is the last hope of the masses.

“Who knows what they might have done to him now that has been in their custody for months. Everybody can see now that President Muhammadu Buhari and the DSS wanted to kill our son”.

The aggrieved Sowore’s family appealed to all well-meaning Nigerians, Nigeria Bar Association(NBA), National Assembly and International Communities to rescue safeguard their son.

Quote:A mentally unstable man identified as Chigozie Orusa was burnt to death after he killed 9 people in Nempi, Oru west local government area Imo state.

According to reports, Chigozie, was a trader in Onitsha until he became mad suddenly. His friends in Onitsha, took him to his family compound in Nempi where he has been under the care of his family.

As days go by, chigozie mental illness worsen but his family members were reluctant to take him to a psychiatric hospital.

In the early hours of December 8th 2019, Chigozie macheted 9 people to death. Out of the 9 people he killed, 7 were his family members: his grandfather, 3rd wife of his grandfather and five of his cousin children. The other two victims were neighbors.

Reacting to the killings, angry youths in the community quickly pounced on Chigozie and set him ablaze.

Rumors has it that Chigozie quest to become rich made him joined an occult group which resulted to his madness. Others say it was hard drugs which led to his mental illness.

Was it right for the community to take laws in their hand by killing Chigozie?

Should they have handed him to the police?

Are we to blame his family members for not taking him to a psychiatric hospital?

Below are photos of Chigozie before and after he was burnt to death:

FG Freezes Sahara Reporters Account. Committee To Protect Journalists(CPJ) Fumes
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2019, 11:17 AM - No Replies

Quote:Nigerian authorities should halt all efforts to intimidate journalists working with the U.S.-headquartered, Nigeria-focused Sahara Reporters news website and ensure they are permitted to continue working to report the news, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today.

Sahara Reporters staff told CPJ their Nigerian bank account was frozen without advance notice in October, significantly hindering their operations.

The website was separately disabled twice due to allegations of copyright infringement, and staff report cyberattacks and increased surveillance outside their Lagos office, according to Sahara Reporters staff who spoke to CPJ.

The site conducts aggressive reporting on corruption, according to CPJ’s review of its reporting. Its founder, Omoyele Sowore, is in Department of State Services (DSS) custody after organizing August protests calling for improved governance, according to CPJ research and news reports.

CPJ is unable to confirm a connection between Sowore’s arrest and his journalism, but continues to investigate the case. “Sahara Reporters must be permitted to keep the Nigerian public informed without intimidation,” said Angela Quintal, CPJ’s Africa program coordinator. “Surveillance, cyberattacks, &copyright notices against Sahara Reporters mark a concerning pattern of interference and harassment of an investigative news outlet.”

Sahara Reporters’ Nigeria-based account with Guaranty Trust Bank was frozen without warning in October, La Keisha Landrum Pierre, Sahara Reporters’ chief operating officer, told CPJ. The outlet has struggled to pay operating costs and salaries and was unable to publish for a day on November 10, Pierre said.

Pierre told CPJ the bank said the account was subject to “a government hold” and “not able to be operated,” but would not elaborate. When CPJ requested comment by email, Ijeoma Nwachukwu, a relationship manager with Guaranty Trust Bank, declined to reveal details about specific accounts because of “duty of confidentiality.”

In mid-September, Sahara Reporters documented three vehicles carrying security officers parked outside the outlet’s Lagos office. Those officers banged on the gates and called for journalists to come out before departing, Sahara Reporters news editor Senami Kojah told CPJ.

Staff in Lagos have repeatedly seen vehicles with tinted windows outside the outlet’s office with occupants wearing black clothes characteristic of DSS agents, Kojah said. Abiodun Sanusi, a reporter with Sahara Reporters, told CPJ by phone that he saw two men wearing black uniforms and caps in a van outside the office on November 5.

Calls CPJ made to DSS spokesperson Peter Afunaya in early December went unanswered.
Pierre told CPJ that Sahara Reporters’ website has also been subject to cyberattacks and takedown requests. She described at least three incidents since August where exceptionally high traffic consistent with distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks threatened to disable the website, though without success.

The entire site was separately taken down for several hours each on October 16 and November
17 in relation to a copyright complaint under U.S. law, Pierre said.

A U.S.-based company involved in hosting the website said that a Nigeria-based complainant had flagged a Sahara Reporters article for violating the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), according to notifications reviewed by CPJ. The 1998 DMCA incentivizes intermediaries to remove or disable access to content subject to copyright complaints to avoid liability, according to CPJ reporting on Ecuador.

Pierre told CPJ that the notifications referenced a 2010 story on political corruption allegations that another website appeared to have republished with an earlier date. Though Sahara Reporters’ site was restored each time, the article was unavailable when CPJ attempted to view it in December; Pierre said they continue to challenge the complaint.

Several Sahara Reporters investigations have alleged senior Nigerian officials’ involvement in wrongdoing. One May example based on leaked audio recordings alleged that Godwin Emefiele, governor of Nigeria’s central bank, sought to cover up the theft of 500 billion Naira (US$1.38 billion) in public funds.

Central bank spokesperson Isaac Okorafor told local media the audio was authentic but misleading, since no money was missing. Documents released during the prosecution of whistleblower George Uboh, who accused the banker of taking the money, suggest Emefiele asked Nigeria’s police chief to investigate Sahara Reporters’ source, according to the outlet’s July report.

CPJ called a number listed for Okorafor on December 9 but the person who answered did not respond to questions before the line disconnected; subsequent calls rang unanswered. CPJ’s calls to Frank Mba, spokesperson for the Nigerian police, also went unanswered.

DSS agents arrested Sahara Reporters founder Omoyele Sowore on August 3 after he planned nationwide protests under the hashtag #RevolutionNow; he is charged with treason, cybercrime, and money laundering, including for transfers allegedly made to Sahara Reporters’ Nigerian bank account, according to a U.S.-based legal team’s submission to the U.N. working group on arbitrary detention. Sowore has been jailed ever since, aside from one overnight release on bail in early December, according to Pierre and media reports.

CPJ has documented Nigerian security forces repeatedly attacking journalists, including those reporting on the August demonstrations or related protests against Sowore’s detention. Following the reelection of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in February, journalists told CPJ they worried that his government would feel less restrained in curbing press freedom.

Wike And Oshiomhole trade words At Eric Osagie's “The Big Interviews" Book Launch
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2019, 11:15 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Tuesday traded blames on the concept of leadership by example.

The two leaders were at each other’s throat at the official presentation of “The Big Interviews,” a book authored by the immediate past Managing Director of the Sun Publishing Limited, Mr. Eric Osagie.

The event which had in attendance journalism finest hands including publisher of the Vanguard Newspaper, Mr. Sam Amuka, business mogul, Isa Funtua among others started in earnest when Oshiomhole was called to make a few remarks before the unveiling of the compendium.

In his characteristic manner, Oshiomhole drew applause from the crowd with his delivery, as he called on media practitioners to be more courageous particularly when taking on men in power. Citing an instance when a foreign journalist once took on an unnamed Nigerian President a few years ago on the scourge of population control, Oshiomhole said the ex-President was wrong to have spoken on the subject matter when Nigerians were yet to be told the number of his children and wives.

“How could he speak on population control when Nigerians didn’t even know the number of his wives, both registered and unregistered? Nigerians didn’t know the number of his children and I think leaders should learn to practice what they preach,” Oshiomhole stated.

Although his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP counterpart, Prince Uche Secondus managed to fire a few salvos in response, it was Wike who brought the capacity-filled Atiku Abubakar Auditorium, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, venue of the book launch, down with laughter and excitement.

“Let me begin from where the APC national chairman stopped,” he began, in his trademark voice. “Where are some of you who did Occupy Nigeria? Do you still write and speak the way you used to do? Who are those now sponsoring all manner of bills against free speech?” he asked as Oshiomhole and his predecessor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun reeled in laughter.

Continuing, Wike chided the APC chair for what he called a deliberate ploy to mislead Nigerians into thinking that he still wears the khaki of old when he was a labour leader, saying “the kind of safari he wears now are different.”

Garba Shehu has gone beyond his boundaries, he is a disloyal officer - Aisha Buhari slams Presidential spokesman

Nigeria's First Lady, Aisha Buhari has slammed her husband's media aide Garba Shehu who she accused of going beyond his boundaries.

President Buhari's wife in a statement released earlier today, stated that it is not a good sign when officials abandon their responsibility and start ''clutching at straws as Nigeria’s development is hinged on the ability of public officials to execute their mandates professionally, and to be shining examples in their various areas of endeavor. ''

Aisha alleged that Garba Shehu has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019.

The statement reads;

Quote:Nigeria’s development is hinged on the ability of public officials to execute their mandates professionally, and to be shining examples in their various areas of endeavor. It is not a good sign when officials abandoned their responsibility and start clutching at straws.
As spokesperson of the President, he has the onerous responsibility of managing the image of the President and all the good works that he is executing in the country. Rather than face this responsibility squarely, he has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019.

To make matters worse, Mr. Shehu has presented himself to these people as a willing tool and executioner of their antics, from the corridors of power even to the level of interfering with the family affairs of the President. This should not be so. The blatant meddling in the affairs of a First Lady of a country is a continuation of the prodigal actions of those that he serves. We all remember that the chief proponent appropriated to himself and his family a part of the Presidential Villa, where he stayed for almost 4 years and when the time came for him to leave, he orchestrated and invaded my family’s privacy through a video circulated by Mamman’s Daughter, Fatima, the public was given the impression that on arrival into the country I was locked out of the villa by Mr. President.

Garba Shehu as Villa Spokesperson, knew the truth and had the responsibility to set the records straight, but because his allegiance is somewhere else and his loyalty misplaced, he deliberately refused to clear the air and speak for the President who appointed him in the first place. Consequently, his action has shown a complete breakdown of trust between the First Family and him.

Mr. Shehu was privy and part of the plan and it’s execution and he was shocked when he realized that I had publicized my return to Nigeria on October 12, 2019 and cleared the air on the many rumors that took over social media, a job he was supposed to do but kept mute to cause more confusion and instability for his Principal and his family.

Garba then, vented his anger on the National Television Authority (NTA) Management insisting that the media crew to my office must be sacked. He succeeded in getting them suspended for doing their job. I had to intervene to save the innocent staff from losing their means of livelihood by involving the Department of State Services (DSS) in order to ascertain roles played by key actors in the saga.

It is at this late hour that I recall, sadly, that it was the same Garba Shehu who claimed that the government will not allow office of the First Lady to run. He was later to confirm to one of my aides that he was instructed to say so by Mamman Daura and not the President. This antic attracted the anger of Nigerian women. He didn’t realize the fact that First Lady’s office is a tradition which has become an institution.

Today, even without a budget, I am able run my humanitarian programmes. In saner climes, Garba Shehu would have resigned immediately after going beyond his boundaries and powers. GARBA SHEHU NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. The latest of his antics was to wage a war on the first family through an orchestrated media campaign of calumny by sponsoring pseudo accounts to write and defame my children and myself.

Based on Garba Shehu’s misguided sense of loyalty and inability to stay true and loyal to one person or group, it has become apparent that all trust has broken down between him and my family due to the many embarrassments he has caused the Presidency and the first family. We all have families to consider in our actions and therefore it is in the best interest of all concerned for Garba Shehu to take the advice of the authority, given to him sometimes in the first week of November, 2019.

Taking a step closer to the impeachment of US President Donald Trump by the US House of Representatives, the Democrat controlled House has unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump, charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of congress.

The articles unveiled Tuesday, say Trump abused his power as president by telling the Ukraine government to investigate his political rival, Joe Biden while withholding a White House meeting and military aid while the second charge states that Trump obstructed congress by ordering White House staff and agencies not to testify in the just concluded impeachment hearing.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was flanked by Judiciary committee chairman Jerry Nadler and Intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff as they announced the formal articles of impeachment which will be voted on by the house this weak, and if the votes go along party lines, Trump could be impeached by the US House of Reps as early as next week..

Nadler speaking to reporters said Trump had endangered the US constitution, jeopardised national security, undermined the integrity of the 2020 election and 'sees himself above the law'.

Trump reacting to the news on Twitter, called it 'ridiculous'.

Click this link articles of impeachment to read the full texts of the impeachment aticles, and watch video of the announcement below.

The White House slammed the introduction of the impeachment articles and said Trump would "address these false charges in the Senate" after the President did not participate in the House proceedings.

"The announcement of two baseless articles of impeachment does not hurt the President, it hurts the American people, who expect their elected officials to work on their behalf to strengthen our nation," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. "The President will address these false charges in the Senate and expects to be fully exonerated, because he did nothing wrong."

Democrats meanwhile have come out to explain why the impeachment process is being rushed, as some Americans feel they should have questioned more witnesses, and gotten more first hand information, but Schiff says such delay will be counter productive and give Trump another opportunity to 'steal' another US election.

The argument, 'Why don't you just wait?', amounts to this: Why don't you just let him cheat in one more election?” Schiff said Tuesday, explaining the sped up impeachment effort. “Why not let him have foreign help one more time?”

Schiff said the evidence is clear Trump is trying to influence the 2020 election by seeking information from Ukraine regarding Democrats who may have sought the country’s help investigating Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Schiff said Trump’s efforts in Ukraine show the president is acting as if he can do “whatever he wants … including getting foreigners involved in our election.”

Court remands 60 Shiite members in Kuje prison till February 2020

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in the Apo area of Abuja has remanded 60 members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise called the Shiite group to Kuje prison in Abuja and Suleja prison in Niger State on remand.

The 60 proscribed IMN members were arrested during the July 22 bloody protest at the Federal Secretariat area of Abuja, which led to the death of a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Usman Umar, and Precious Owolabi, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member with Channels Television.

They were arraigned before the court on November 27 by the FCT Command of the Nigeria Police. The suspects were arraigned on charges bordering on homicide, disturbances of public peace, and destruction of government properties.

They had, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the police. On resumption of the case on Tuesday, counsel for the defendants, Bala Dakum, informed the court that he had filed a bail application on behalf of the Shiite members. When the court drew his attention to filing only one bail application for the 60 defendants, which was brought by way of summon, Dakum said he would withdraw it.

He subsequently did in order to file separate applications for the defendants. Justice Sulaiman Belgore then struck out the application, having been withdrawn by the defence counsel with no objection from the prosecution. As a result, the prosecuting counsel, Mr Simon Lough, requested that the defendants should be remanded in Kuje and Suleja correctional facilities.

Lough, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), asked that 54 male defendants be remanded at the correctional facility in Kuje, while the remaining six defendants who are females be sent to the Suleja correctional on remand. He also applied that trial of the defendants be held where they are remanded for convenience, adding that the trial should be given an accelerated hearing considering their number.

The prosecution’s oral applications for the remand of the defendants and trial being held where they are being remanded were not opposed by their counsel. Ruling on the applications, Justice Belgore held that having not been opposed by the counsel for the defendants, the court was minded to remand the defendants at the correctional facilities.

Quote:“The defendants be remanded at the correctional facilities. They are to be remanded at Kuje and Suleja correctional yards. Trial to be held in Kuje correctional yard,” he ruled.
The judge then adjourned until February 5, 2020, for the commencement of trial which he ordered to be on a daily basis.

Punch Newspaper says it will henceforth address Buhari with his rank as a military dictator, to refer to his administration as a regime over alleged lawlessness

A Nigerian National Daily, Punch has shared a notice which gave off its stand on the alleged lawlessness witnessed in President Buhari's administration.

In a notice titled "Buhari's lawlessness: Our Stand", Punch stated that it will "henceforth prefix Buhari’s name with his rank as a military dictator in the 80s 'Major General' and refer to his administration as a regime until they purge themselves of their insufferable contempt for the rule of law."

The national daily reiterated that it will not adopt the self-defeating attitude of many Nigerians looking the other way after each violation of rights and attacks on the citizens, the courts, the press and civic society, including self-determination groups lawfully exercising their inalienable rights to peaceful dissent.

It alleged that this administration's actions and assaults on the courts, disobedience of court orders and arbitrary detention of citizens reflect its true character of the martial culture. The SSS and Police were called out by Punch who also accused the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed of vigorously pressing for anti-hate speech laws to restrict social media even after being harassed by the SSS and accused of “loitering" in 2014.

The notice reads in full;

Quote:“As a symbolic demonstration of our protest against autocracy and military-style repression, PUNCH (all our print newspapers, The PUNCH, Saturday PUNCH, Sunday PUNCH, PUNCH Sports Extra, and digital platforms, most especially Punchng.com) will henceforth prefix Buhari’s name with his rank as a military dictator in the 80s, Major General, and refer to his administration as a regime, until they purge themselves of their insufferable contempt for the rule of law.”

The entire country and a global audience are rightly scandalised by the unfolding saga over Omoyele Sowore and the unruliness of the SSS and the government; but it is only a pattern, a reflection of the serial disregard of the Buhari regime for human rights and its battering of other arms of government and our democratic institutions. PUNCH views this tendency and its recent escalation with serious concern, knowing as the great thinker, Edmund Burke, said that “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Nigeria had trod a path, a veritable obstacle course, where repression, especially under military jackboots, was a malignant presence and this attracted heroic resistance by ordinary people, civil society groups and the press.

But Nigerians have lately become lethargic, divided by ethnic and sectarian sentiments and weakened by widespread poverty brought on by a rapacious political class and bad governance.
PUNCH will not adopt the self-defeating attitude of many Nigerians looking the other way after each violation of rights and attacks on the citizens, the courts, the press and civic society, including self-determination groups lawfully exercising their inalienable rights to peaceful dissent. This regime’s actions and assaults on the courts, disobedience of court orders and arbitrary detention of citizens reflect its true character of the martial culture. Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) ran a ham-fisted military junta in 1984/85 and old habits obviously run deep.  Until he and his repressive regime purge themselves of their martial tendency therefore, PUNCH will not be a party to falsely adorning it with a democratic robe, hence our decision to label it for what it is – an autocratic military-style regime run by Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Sowore’s travails are symptomatic: having ignored court orders granting him bail, the SSS, after much pressure following 125 days in captivity, released him only to stage a GESTAPO-style raid on the court where the journalist was standing trial. The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim el-Zakzakky and his wife have spent over three years in detention in violation of court orders granting them bail and ordering their release. A former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has been held in detention since 2015 in defiance of several court orders, including one by the ECOWAS appellate court that declared his continued incarceration illegal.

Under Buhari, the SSS has become a monstrous and repressive secret police, acting often with impunity. Buhari bears responsibility for the state of repression because, as president, he can stop it today.

But the SSS is not alone. The Nigeria Police, whose notoriety predates Buhari’s second coming, has continued its serial abuse of human rights and is ever available to officials who routinely deploy police officers from the mundane abuse of sirens in traffic to arbitrary arrest and torture of victims. The police and military fail to understand that peaceful agitation and the right to associate are fundamental rights.

This situation is eerily familiar: as military head of state, Buhari’s appointee who headed the National Security Organisation, as the SSS was then known, Lawal Rafindadi, unleashed a reign of terror on Nigerians, featuring arbitrary arrests and torture in cells described by inmates as chambers of horror. Under the infamous Decree 2, agents had pre-signed detention papers, court orders were ignored and ouster clauses were inserted in decrees, while the press was specifically targeted with the infamous Decree 4 under which Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor were jailed.

Returning as an elected president, Buhari has followed the same template, appointing Lawal Daura as Director-General of the SSS, who re-enacted the Rafindadi playbook by his treatment of Dasuki and el-Zakzakky, among others, raided the homes of judges and twice deployed armed SSS heavies to foil the arrest of two former security chiefs by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Nigerian Navy authorities similarly ignored court orders to release Navy Captain Dada Labinjo, who they detained for over a year until his recent release on bail; Nigerian Army too detains suspects interminably on the grounds of being terrorism suspects.

Some governors have borrowed from this nefarious model, deploying security agents and perverting the law to punish critics and journalists. Critics, Dadiyata Idris and Stephen Kefas, have been arrested and arraigned. Agba Jalingo is facing a treason charge for offending the Cross River State Government. Jones Abiri, a local publisher in Bayelsa State, has been charged with terrorism while, in Delta State, two journalists are facing criminal defamation charges.

The regime’s Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed, forgetting how, as opposition spokesman in 2014, he was harassed by the SSS and accused of “loitering,” has been vigorously pressing for anti-hate speech laws to restrict the social media. Abdullahi Sabi, a senator, along with others, has re-presented a hate-speech bill: their sole purpose is to insulate officials from criticism and compel unquestioned acceptance of Buhari’s draconian misrule.

Under the law, suspects cannot be held beyond 48 hours except by a court order. But the regime observes this in the breach. Yet, Nigeria is a signatory to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, African Charter on Human and People’s Rights and the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment and other treaties guaranteeing fundamental rights.

The 1999 Constitution also spells out basic rights. But the regime chooses which rights or court orders to respect or obey. This is unacceptable. Critical segments of the society have been assaulted, silenced or compromised. It is time, as a Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has strongly advocated, for civil society to rejuvenate itself and send the message to Buhari to “rein in his wild dogs of disobedience.” From the United States has come a message from the Department of State, two senators and Congress telling the Buhari regime to stop its shocking affront to the rule of law, reminding the General that “respect for the rule of law, judicial independence, political and media freedom, and due process are key tenets of democracy.”

Nigeria has had more than its fair share of draconian rulers, whether in military or civil garb, but none has succeeded in breaking our resilience and irrepressible spirit. This regime will not prove to be an exception. Nigeria, and Nigerians, will overcome.

The strong desire of our people to enjoy the unfettered freedoms guaranteed by the constitution and the rule of law, including the freedom to speak freely and assemble peacefully, will again outlive, outlast and crush the spirit of despotism.
Buhari can still redeem himself and his out-of-control security agents and reclaim his past facade of tolerance.

When Daura brazenly inserted himself in politics by recklessly sending armed masked SSS enforcers to besiege the National Assembly, as acting President, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo promptly sacked him and had him arrested. Buhari should similarly distance himself and his regime from the lawlessness and impunity of the current SSS DG, Yusuf Bichi, by dismissing him, ordering the release of all victims of illegal detention and compelling obedience to court orders.

The SSS has not been efficient in the war against terror; it should perform its primary duty to safeguard the country. As a product of statute, its loyalty should be to the country, not to temporary occupiers of public office.

The regime’s repression cannot succeed but will further polarise the society and weaken national cohesion.  The Nigerian Bar Association has vowed to defend the sanctity of judicial authority, while Soyinka has warned that disregard for court orders could beget desperation and civil disobedience. Nigerians need to stop their supine acquiescence to oppression and learn to stand up for their rights as many are doing around the world, using all peaceful and legal means, including the right to protest and of peaceful assembly. It is Dasuki, el-Zakzakky, Sowore and others today, who knows who is next if repression is not resisted?

UK government speaks on Sowore's rearrest, asks FG to respect rule of law

The UK government has reacted to the drama which played out at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday December 6, just before Omoyele Sowore was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) while his trial was in session.

The British High Commission in Nigeria in its tweet disclosed that it is following Sowore's detention closely. The commission also stated that respect for the rule of law and free and responsible speech is fundamental for democracy.

It added that the UK government is committed to defending and strengthening human rights worldwide.

The tweet reads;

Quote:“As we celebrate #HumanRightsDay, we encourage all political, state and non-state actors to uphold the ideals set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed 71 years ago today.
“We are following closely the continued detention of #Sowore. Respect for the rule of law and free and responsible speech is fundamental for #democracy.
“The UK is committed to defending and strengthening human rights worldwide and, as we conclude #16DaysofActivism2019, working to end gender-based violence.”

Nigerian senate probes CBN over N20trn un-remitted stamp duties

The Senate has mandated its Committee on Finance to investigate the non-remittance of over N20 trillion into the Federation Account by Central Bank of Nigeria, an amount collected as stamp duties from Banks and Financial Institutions in the country.

The decision to probe the non-remittance of stamp duties was reached sequel to the consideration of a motion on “The need to improve Internally Generated Revenue of the Federal Government of Nigeria through non-oil revenue”.

Sponsor of the motion, Senator Ayo Akinyelure (PDP, Ondo Central), said that the Central Bank had in January 2016, issued a circular directing all banks and financial institutions to charge stamp duty of N50 on lodgments into current accounts against revenue projections by the Federal Government of N2.5 trillion annually.

He noted that after the issuance of the said circular by the CBN, all deposit money banks and financial institutions effected N50 per eligible transaction in accordance with the provisions of the Stamp Duty Act 2004 and Federal government Financial Regulations 2009.

According to him, despite efforts by the Federal Government to recover over N20 trillion from Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems (NIBBS) to the Federation Account, “the Central Bank of Nigeria and NIBBS have technically refused to comply with the Presidential directives for the recovery of over N20 trillion revenue into the coffers of government.”

Akinyelure added, “The CBN and NIBSS deliberately failed to cooperate and comply with the directives of Mr. President for the realization of over N20 trillion revenue due from stamp duties collected for 2013 to 2016 and subsequently over N5 trillion minimum revenue due to be collected annually to the Federation account to be shared among States of the Federation for infrastructural and economic development.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 11TH DECEMBER.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORD

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).

As a Christian, it’s so important that you have an understanding of the Word. That understanding will help you have a concept of the Scriptures in a way that’s far beyond the generic; your approach to the Word will be different.

This is important, because except and unless you understand the Word, you won’t know how to apply it to your life and situations.

The Word is Himself, God. That’s what we read in our opening text. When He speaks to you, He becomes to you and in you what He says. Every time you study it, you feed your spirit and you’re able to live the life of the Word. Then you discover that your Christian life every day is full of joy and excitement.

As you prepare your goals for the coming year, make studying the Word, devoting quality time to search and meditate on the Scriptures a top priority. This will cause you to be enlightened, informed, refreshed, strengthened and graced for greater effectiveness in your work and ministry, and all that the Lord would have you do in the coming year and beyond. You’d find yourself walking in the path that He’s chosen for you before the foundation of the world.

Remember that your life has a purpose, and the purpose of God for you is revealed and becomes clearer as you fellowship with the Word and the Spirit. He’ll grant you insight through the Scriptures. He’ll bring your thoughts to something that He wants you to know now, that you can apply to your life.

Then, His wisdom will leap out of the message and inundate your heart, and you find that you’re walking the path of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the understanding of your Word. As I give myself to the study of the Word, I’m enlightened, refreshed, informed and strengthened. My mind is receptive to the corrections, instructions and direction therein, as I walk in the paths you preordained for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Acts 20:32; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12
1 YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN:
Revelation 3:7-22 ; Hosea 7-10

2 YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN:
John 19:23-37 ; 2 Chronicles 23-24

There's lifting for you! In your finances, family, ministry, career, academics; there's a lifting up for you! You are not of this world, thus, that same situation that's causing other businesses to close down, that same situation will lift you high.

Jesus is the Lord of your life, and you'll never be defeated! The word of God will produce in you what it talks about.

Though a thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, it will not come near you. Refuse to push the panic button because the destruction in the world is not for you. Hallelujah

God bless you

That is poetic justice. Admirers just yank that out of their hat without giving that any thought at all. I'm speechless this I must not have strong feelings about this incredible view. Here are several characteristics of California Bioenergy Serum. We are in a down economy right now and that's affecting California Bioenergy Serum. The California Bioenergy Serum also includes the amenities found in California Bioenergy Serum but with more additions such as California Bioenergy Serum. Algerian court convicts two former prime ministers of corruption
December 10, 2019

[Image: Ahmed-Ouyahia-and-Abdelmalek-Sellal-750x375.jpg]

Former leaders Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdelmalek Sellal were both given lengthy jail terms on Tuesday

An Algerian court has convicted two former Algerian prime ministers and other senior officials to prison in a corruption case.

Ahmed Ouyahia was sentenced to 15 years and Abdelmalek Sellal to 12 years in prison on charges of squandering public funds and abusing authority in a case related to car assembly plants.

Both premiers served under longtime president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who was forced to step down in April in the wake of nationwide protests and pressure from the country’s powerful military.

The Sidi M’hamed Court in the capital Algiers also sentenced former industry minister Abdeslam Bouchouareb, who is on the run, to 20 years in prison in absentia.

Two former industry ministers, Youcef Yousfi and Mahdjoub Bedda, were handed 10 years in prison each in the same case.

A former governor of Boumerdes Province was sentenced to five years in prison, while eight businessmen were handed jail terms ranging between two to seven years.

Former transport and public works minister Abdelghani Zaalane was acquitted.

The verdicts can be appealed.

Bouteflika, now aged 82, ruled energy-rich Algeria for two decades, an era that was dominated by cronyism and mismanagement.

The verdicts come ahead of a presidential election on Thursday, which demonstrators say will not be fair because some of Bouteflika’s allies are still in power. The army has said the vote will be fair and is the only way out of the crisis.

Abboud noted the verdicts and sentences were announced just before the vote.

“It’s about how the same system that created these judges who are pronouncing these sentences is the same system that created how these ministers were holding power allegedly and misusing public funds allegedly,” he said.

The court in Algiers also handed 10-year prison terms to two former industry ministers, and sentences ranging from three to seven years to five prominent businessmen.

Many former senior officials have been in detention as the army seeks to quell mass protests over corruption and demands to remove those guilty in the ruling elite.

In all, 19 defendants – two former prime ministers, other prominent former politicians and car industry tycoons – face charges ranging from money laundering to abuse of office and granting undue privileges.

The proceedings have been dominated by accusations of illegal funding during Bouteflika’s last election campaign this year.

The prosecutor on Sunday said the campaign had caused a loss to the public treasury estimated at $920m.

Ouyahia and Sellal, and the other main defendants, denied the accusations against them.

Sellal broke down on Sunday, swearing he had “not betrayed the country”.

Among the businessmen jailed was Ali Haddad, a former chief of Algeria’s largest business association, who was imprisoned for seven years.

Former transport minister Abdelghani Zaalane was the only defendant acquitted.

The court also issued a 20-year prison sentence in absentia to former industry minister Abdesslam Bouchouareb, who is abroad. An international arrest warrant has been issued by the same court.

My husband starve me of sex – Wife tells court

A 72-year-old retiree, Mr Funsho Amos, has lost his marriage for starving his wife of sex for three years.

An Igando Customary Court, in Lagos, on Tuesday granted the request of Mrs Ayo Amos, seeking dissolution of her union to Funsho on the grounds of sex starvation and irreconcilable differences.

The court president, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, while delivering the judgment, said it appeared that the estranged couple was tired of the marriage and all efforts to reconcile both parties had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs Ayo Amos and Mr Funsho Amos dissolved today; both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife.

“Each of you should go your separate ways unmolested, the court wishes both of you well in your future endeavours,” Koledoye ruled.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, that the 40-year-old businesswoman, Ayo, had earlier approached the court to end her nine years old marriage over sex denial.

“My husband denied me sex for good three years without any reason and he knew that I needed a child,” Ayo said.
The petitioner told the court that the respondent humiliated her because she was yet to have a child for him.

“My husband told me to pack out of his house saying that I am a barren woman and cannot bear children.
“He told me to get another man, that he is no longer interested in me.

“Funsho refused to pay our house and shop rents when both expired, and ordered the landlord to eject me from the house; which the landlord complied with.

“I begged him, even when my family members called him to know if I have offended him in any way, he told them that he was no more interested in me,” Ayo said.

The petitioner said that in August 2018, she begged her husband to divorce her after sending her out of their matrimonial house, but he refused.

“I pleaded with him to divorce me so that I can move on with my life because age is no longer on my side, but he refused.
“He said that no man can marry me again that any woman he had slept with can never get married again, so there is no need for him to divorce me,” she said.

Ayo urged the court to terminate their marriage which had not produced any child so that she can move on with her life.
“I have wasted nine-years with him without achieving anything, please divorce the union,” she pleaded.

The respondent, however, conceded to the petitioner’s request for the dissolution of their marriage, saying that he was no longer interested in the union.

“I do not love her anymore, please court, grant her request for the dissolution of our marriage.
“I have six children, some are abroad. I do not even need a child from her,” Funsho said

Lawan Wants State Of Emergency Declared In Power Sector
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2019, 02:25 PM - No Replies

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Monday called on the Executive to, as a matter of urgency, declare a state of emergency in the power sector to overcome the legion of problems stalling steady power supply in Nigeria.

Lawan stated this while declaring open a one-day round-table discussion with the theme: “Addressing Nigeria’s Power Problems” organized by the Senate Committee on Power.

The Senate President said the privatization of the power sector in 2005 and 2013 was a grand scheme conceived with the intention to defraud Nigeria.

He said, “For me, if there’s any sector of our economy that is so important and yet so challenged, it is the power sector. I believe that this is a sector that needs a declaration of emergency.

“This is an opportunity for us in this round-table to exhaustively discuss not only the problems of the power sector in Nigeria, but the solutions and way forward.

“The truth is that we all know what is wrong. What we really need to do is to have the political will to take on the challenges generally.

“From the electricity power reform of 2005 to the privatization of Gencos and Discos and to what is happening today, we know that everything is fraud. If we play the ostrich, in the next ten years we will be talking about the same things.

“I think the time has come for us to have courage. I want to remind us, that we have signed the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. What will give us an edge is to have a competitive environment.

“Our industries and businesses must be able to produce things that can compete favourably with products produced in other countries in Africa. We are not in that position today, and we all know the consequences of that.

“Even our citizens, who have capital, will rather relocate to Ghana, produce whatever they want and bring to Nigeria to sell. Where does that leave our country? No employment opportunities; Nigeria becomes a dumping ground.”

The Senate President, therefore, called for a review of the privatization exercise undertaken by the Goodluck Jonathan administration which led to a takeover of the power sector by private Generating Companies (Gencos) and Distribution Companies (Discos).

Teaser: INKBLOT teams up with Funke Akindele Bello for Chinaza Onuzo's directorial debut, 'Who's The Boss' (Photos)

What a year it has been for Inkblot Productions!

With two films (The Set Up and Love Is War) currently in the top 10 Nollywood box office releases of 2019, the leading production company also debuted several of their recent titles (New Money, Moms At War & Up North) on Netflix to popular and critical acclaim. However, Inkblot isn’t stopping, and has chosen to end 2019 in grand style with the announcement of their 12th film, ‘Who’s the Boss?!

‘Who’s The Boss’ stars Funke Akindele-Bello as Hauwa - a hard to please and tough as nails boss, tormenting Sharon Ooja (Liah) – an over worked and over looked Advertising agency creative, who invents another boss - Blossom Chukwujekwu as Lekan, to front for the side hustle start-up agency she uses to explore her creative pursuits. Her world begins to unravel when her start-up wins a lucrative contract and she is thrust into the spotlight. Segun Arinze, Ini Dima-Okojie, Beverly Osu, Tayo Faniran & Bollylomo round off the talented ensemble.

Akindele-Bello is fresh off her directorial debut, but this time only dons her acting hat to give an outstanding performance. “I loved working with Inkblot again. I love my character Hauwa and I can’t wait for all my fans to love and hate her at the same time.”

Zulumoke Oyibo, Co-Founder at Inkblot agreed - “Seeing Funke at work was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing. We’re so excited by Who’s The Boss. It’s a relatable, funny romantic comedy with an all-star cast and a great message. We can’t wait for you all to see it”

Who’s The Boss is also extra special to Inkblot as it is the directorial debut of Chinaza Onuzo; the Inkblot cofounder. Chinaza Onuzo is no stranger to Nollywood fans as one of the leading writers in Nollywood with 10 credits to his name including the hits The Wedding Party 2, Up North, The Set Up and Moms at War amongst many others.

“It was a no-brainer when Chinaza said he wanted to direct,” Oyibo adds “In fact it was long overdue. He not only brought the world to life in such vivid and imaginative ways, he also had a clear vision for the project and delivered way above our expectations.”

Chinaza, the newbie director, had this to say about why he chose this project amongst all others to make his directorial debut, “I fell in love with the story and I knew I wanted to be the one to bring it to the world. We had an amazing cast and crew and I can’t wait for everyone to see the magic we created.”

‘Who’s The Boss’ will open in cinemas all over West Africa on February 28, 2020.

OSPAC Invades Okomoko, Rivers State, Kills 4, Dumps Bodies In River (Graphic)

GRAPHIC IMAGE !!!

Follow up on the nairaland post where four corpses were recovered from Otamirioche River in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State after a vigilante group, ONELGA Security and Advisory Planning Committee (OSPAC), invaded Okomoko community in the Area killing at least three persons.

Their bodies were dumped in the River by the rampaging security group after the dastardly act.
Community sources told theportcitynews that the vigilante group invaded the community around 9:31 pm on Saturday, shooting sporadically leading to the five deaths.

https://theportcitynews.com/2019/12/08/ospac-kills-three-in-etche-dumps-bodies-inside-river/

An eye witness who wished not to be named for fear of reprisal attacks, confirmed that the vigilante group drove into the community, the four men shot dead were relaxing at a popular spot called "okomoko playground", at the centre of the town-which is an ever busy spot and a transit point between other communities- the OSPAC group visibly angry with the way the men responded to their inquiry drew out their guns and shot them at close range. "i was standing right there with them when everything happened. I told them this man didn't do anything wrong. They told me to shut up or they will shoot me".

Another eye witness said the vigilante leader realizing what they had just done, took the bodies and fled claiming they were cultists.

A member of the community Mrs. Stella who was visibly shaken commented " The governor of Rivers state should put a leash on these repented militants, who they gave guns without training or proper mental evaluation. i knew all the men because they were popular in the community and also from good families. One of the deceased, Dagogo, a youth leader and trader, just buried his mother this August and he was planning on getting married next year".

As at the time of filing this report, the members of OSPAC when accosted at their headquarters in OMAGWA, Rivers state, threatened to kill more people and nothing will be done about it because they have been given order from above to kill whoever they suspect of being a criminal without due recourse to the law.

They added that a woman was also hit in the eye by a stray bullet while many others sustained several degrees of injuries.
One of the victims of the killing is a trader popularly known as Dagogo Nwalozie.

ONELGA Security and Advisory Planning Committee (OSPAC), have continued to torture, maim, kill and dispose corpses of countless persons the same way in their efforts to rid the state of cultists and criminal elements, without proper investigation or court process.
More bodies are being discovered in the River, possibly more innocent victims shot dead by these vigilante group.

‘Political farmers have hijacked government agriculture programmes’

•That’s not true, defends Ministry

Smallholder Women Farmers Organisation (SWOFON), have again alleged that political farmers have hijacked most of the government’s agricultural programmes.

This comes barely a few weeks an agro input suppliers also alleged that portfolio farmers are the ones accessing the farm inputs provided by the government, by collecting the inputs from the Ministry of Agriculture, and selling them to farmers at exorbitant prices.

But the Director, Farm Input, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural development, Badmus Jatto, denied the allegation, saying: “For the past three years the Ministry has not directly provided farm input to farmers. What we do is to work with the private sector to supply farm inputs to farmers at a subsidised rate.”
He disclosed that government might likely engage farmers in the growth enhancement scheme by next year wet season farming.

However, SWOFON in a communiqué issued at the end of its Annual Farmers Forum, weekend, in Abuja, said to curb the menace ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), must work closely with grassroots women farmers and SWOFON, to ensure real farmers get access to government’s programme.

The ActionAid-funded organisation pointed out that SWOFON veritable platform with reliable and verifiable data of the over 15,000 smallholder women farmers across the 36 States of the Federation.

National President SWOFON, Mary Afan, further called on the government to increase allocation to smallholder women farmers in the Agriculture budget across states, and at the national level, adding that such budgets need to be approved and released on time with the effective support of the MDAs and the Appropriation Committees of the legislative assemblies.

She further lamented that smallholder women farmers have difficulties in accessing credit facilities for improved agriculture business, hence there is a need for relevant government ministries and stakeholders to conduct regional engagement activities to sensitise them on ex
isting opportunities for improved and increase access to credit.

The National Coordinator, SWOFON, Omoboyowa Roberts, noted that there has been reduction of farmlands due to climate change due to desertification, floods, insecurity in the middle belt and several parts of the country, fluctuation weather conditions, and changing weather.

She further decried that land ownership and control is still a challenge for smallholder women farmers in Nigeria, and urged the Ministries of Land and Housing, Agriculture, and relevant state level ministries to develop and implement gender-friendly policies that support smallholder women farmers to inherit land in Nigeria.

She stressed that the Land Use Act needs to be reviewed, to make the ownership and control of Land by women positive in Nigeria.

Demand for Nigeria’s sweet crude may rise on IMO’s low sulphur regulation

Demand for Nigeria’s sweet crude may rise on IMO’s low sulphur regulation

A new report by PwC Nigeria, has projected the possibility of higher demand for the country’s sweet crude from next year, going by the new fuel sulphur regulation of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), billed to take effect from January 1, 2020.

The new regulation provides a 0.5 per cent global sulphur cap on fuel content, lowering from the present 3.5 per cent limit. This new cap is part of the IMO’s response to heightening environmental concerns, contributed in part by harmful emissions from ships.

Commenting on the opportunities, Hameed Alaba, of Downstream Advisors Inc., said there would be an unprecedented increase in demand for Nigerian sweet crude, resulting in increased revenue for government.

“There is going to be a struggle to get sweet crude because now you are bound by regulation to produce low sulphur fuel, so you would go for the sweet crude other than the heavy crude,” he noted.

However, the report indicated that the new rule potentially add billions of dollars of cost to Africa when stricter shipping fuel standards kick off.

On implementation of the rule, the rising price of fuel for shipping would raise the delivered cost of imports and depress those of exports.

PwC Nigeria, while presenting a report on the impact of the IMO 20202 on Africa on Friday in Lagos, said the implications of the new regulation for refiners, shippers and other stakeholders in the industry would be far-reaching
According to the report, which was put together in collaboration with Energex Partners and Downstream Advisors Inc, the implications of this new regulation on the African oil sector will be profound given the mix of lower and higher sulphur in oil production in some places.

The Energy Utilities and Resources Leader, PwC Nigeria, Pedro Omontuemhen, said the overall impact of the IMO 2020 would be determined by the work that will be done and the strategy adopted by the government.
He said, “It could come out to be positive if we take advantage of the increased demand that we foresee that is going to be placed on the low sulphur crude oil.

“It may have an impact on the pump prices of petroleum products. Clearly the shipping cost will go up. If shipping cost goes up, that means landing cost will go up.

“So one of the things the government can do is to pass on that cost to the consumers or, like we are currently doing, continue to absorb it and call it under-recovery or subsidy,” he stated.

Steve Jones of Energex Partners, said the impact of the new regulations on the African oil sector would be profound.

He said, “Compared to the global average, there are generally less complex refineries in Africa; there are government subsidies for road-fuel; there is a higher dependence on imported fuels (which are expected to increase in price); and a higher proportion of power generation fed by high sulphur fuels. The challenges posed by the new regulations must be understood and prepared for by all those affected.

“There are knock-on effects all the way through to the African oil industry. For African producers who produce sweet crude, it is a very good thing; that crude will become more valuable for the African refiners because of their low complexity.

“It can be a good thing if they can access sweet crude and run their basic distillation units with sweet crude,” he stated.

The accused person shot the truck driver, Ade Saleh on his head with AK47 rifle, which led to his instant death.

Omosuyi was charged before Magistrate Charity Adeyanju, on a one count charge of murder.

The police prosecutor, inspector Goodluck Uloh said the accused committed the offence on December 2, 2019, at about 2pm, along Uso- Owo road while on official duty.

Uloh told the court that the offence committed was contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 on the criminal code cap 37, Volume 1, of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

Counsel to the accused person, Ikujuni Ademola prayed the court to order that he returns back to the Police custody.

Joseph said “We want to restate our earlier stand that the command and indeed the Nigeria police will never shield any of his personnel that commits any manner of infraction or illegality.
Recall that five others who were at the checkpoint where the truck driver was shot dead were apprehended.

Sergeant Omosuyi shot the truck driver because he failed to part with N50 bride at the police checkpoint after insisting that his vehicle documents were complete.

The killer cop shot him in the head and he died on the spot while others fled into the bush as the deceased colleagues went on a rampage protesting his death

Nigerian man arrested in Uganda for holding three female students hostage

Police in Kampala, Uganda have detained a Nigerian on allegations of holding hostage three female students of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) for over 10 hours.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said Monday, December 9th that the suspect invited his Ugandan girlfriend, who he met less than a week ago to his home in Mutungo ober the weekend and she reportedly visited along with two other female friends, according to a report by Uganda’s Daily Monitor.

Enanga said around 9pm, the students told him they wanted to leave but he insisted that they stay around. He reportedly confiscated their mobile phones around 10pm, locked them inside the house and left.

However, one of the girls had an extra phone, which she used to inform her other colleagues what had befallen them around midnight. The students rushed to Kinawataka Police Station and filed a case explaining how their colleagues were being held captive by a man.

Kinawataka police sent a message to Jinja Road Policing Division, which immediately launched a hunt for the students throughout the entire night of Saturday. However, the suspect returned around 7am on Sunday morning and released the trio. Enanga said since police were already on the hunt, it traced the phones once they were returned to the students and switched on.

Police collaborating with victims located the suspect’s home leading to his arrest for unlawful confinement.

Quote: “We arrested him on charges of unlawful confinement. The suspect had actually invited his girlfriend who came in the company of two other girls at his rented home in Mutungo. The girls were there up to around 9pm.
These are university students. He unlawfully confined them from 9pm up to 7am. For 10 hours, these three girls found themselves in a very vulnerable situation that anything could have happened on them.
We managed to arrest the suspect, who’s a Nigerian national,” Enanga said.
The suspect, according to Enanga, said he hadn’t abducted the students but he kept them in his house for fear that they could be hurt by thugs in the area if he had allowed them to move alone during night hours.

In the same vein, the President of the Alumni Association, Professor Elsie Adewoye, expressed gratitude to Onyema for accepting to be part of the homecoming and serving as the Guest Lecturer. Adewoye, who acknowledged the unequalled strides of Onyema in his chosen turf, added that the institution was proud of him and implored him to keep impacting lives. She noted that the CEO was being honoured because of his historic evacuation of 503 Nigerians from South Africa during the xenophobic onslaught.

The highlights of the homecoming were Onyema’s visit to the VC of UI, the Law Faculty and the Ransome Kuti Hall where the students heralded him, chanting songs in his praise. Onyema, who was gifted with a symbolic ‘drum of peace’, charged the students to eschew all forms of vice, believe in themselves and embrace virtuous conduct. He also affirmed his support to the growth of the institution.

The UI Alumni Association Lecture and Award Ceremony is a platform where the University’s alumni cross-pollinate ideas on key national issues and get recognised for excellence in their respective fields.

Is very simple, when you realize how to draw in a lady and the uplifting news is, that looks don't make a difference! Indeed, when you recognize what you have to do to pull in a lady, you will discover you make them fall at your feet, paying little mind to what you resemble!

Ladies are passionate animals essentially, so while looks might be a piece of the fascination, it's the means by which you depict yourself from within that truly gets their hearts shuddering.

So to pull in a lady, there are a couple of basic things you have to do, so as to improve your odds of achievement, as pursues:

1. Don't please excessively solid

Try not to show an excess of enthusiasm for them either, as this will make you seem as though you are edgy or poor. This is a major side road for ladies, so it is significant you play it cool.

2. Confidence

Instead of pomposity, certainty is an enormous turn on for ladies. Sure men have a demeanor of predominance that eclipses the individuals who need certainty. Regardless of whether most ladies might want to let it be known or not, they need their man to be someone who can ensure them, and have the certainty to do as such. There is anyway an almost negligible difference among certainty and pomposity, and keeping in mind that it is alright to discuss yourself, it shouldn't be the main thing that you talk about. You are in an ideal situation demonstrating more enthusiasm for what she needs to state as opposed to what you need to state. She will adore that you care enough to tune in to what she needs to state.

3. Humour

You would prefer not to be the class jokester in a manner of speaking, in any case on the off chance that you can make her snicker it breaks the pressure. This implies she will feel increasingly good around you, and will appreciate investing energy with you. In case you're excessively genuine, you will appear to be dull and exhausting.

4. Eye contact

Without gazing, look at her without flinching when you're conversing with her, and grin and gesture fittingly. This gives her that you are tuning in to her, yet in addition that you have the certainty to look at her without flinching, and again it is certainty that ladies like in men.

5. Don't be excessively accessible

This is somewhat similar to playing hard to get, yet most likely not as hard as you might suspect. For instance, when masterminding to get together at some point, clarify that you have anticipates a particular date, yet then propose some other time. This will give her that now you have a rundown of different needs, and that at this stage she isn't at the highest priority on that rundown. It sort of gives the sentiment of needing what you can't have!

When you realize how to draw in a lady, and once you comprehend that it is actually how you follow up on how you are within that has any kind of effect, and not your looks, you will find that you won't ever experience any difficulty pulling in ladies into your life.

Boost for sector’s manpower development
December 10, 2019

•From left: Chief Flight Officer, Aero Contractors, Taofeek Sanni; Training Manager, Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Captain Jim Hassan; Sanusi; Muhammed; Director of Flight Operations, Aero Contractors, Gerald Nmuoka and Head of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering School, NCAT, Nasiru Mohammed, after the signing of the MoU with NCAT.

Partnership between airlines, maintenance repair and overhaul centres and aviation training organisations is increasingly bridging the gap in manpower development by creating a window for On-the-Job Training  (OJT) for budding pilots and aircraft engineers, writes KELVIN OSA OKUNBOR.

Opportunities for job creation through manpower development received a boost at the weekend as Aero Contractors of Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding  (MoU)  with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT),  to engage 10 graduates of the college for On the Job Training  (OJT).

The partnership between Aero and NCAT, is part of efforts to deepen indigenous capacity in the sector, by providing a platform for young aircraft  engineers to acquire practical knowledge and experience in the mechanics of the aviation industry.

The pact between Aero and NCAT, experts say, could not have  come at a better time given diminishing opportunities for job creation in the aviation industry.

Besides creating such unique platform to acquire practical knowledge and experience in avionics,  Aero Contractors and NCAT are the oldest organisations in the sector with commonality in values in building capacity for the sector.

Speaking shortly after signing the MoU in Zaria, Kaduna State , Managing Director of Aero , Captain Ado Sanusi, described the cooperation between the airline and the college as institutional relationship that will deepen human capacity development and the growth of the aviation sector.

He said besides being an airline, Aero Contractors as an Approved Maintenance Organisation  (AMO)  licensed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority  (NCAA),  the aircraft maintenance facility will come in handy for NCAT student engineers who have looked forward to cementing their classroom knowledge with practical experience during the On-the-Job training.

Sanusi added:” This Memorandum of Understanding is going to set in motion, the annual On-the-Job Training for NCAT student engineers for a three-month period to enable them gain practical experience on aircraft maintenance  before proceeding for another specialised intense training at Aero Contractors Rotary and Fixed  Wing Departments.

“Aero Contractors shall expose the student engineers to invaluable experience in our workshops on planning detailed knowledge of air frame and other matters vital to acquiring knowledge on aircraft maintenance.

“On completion of this robust maintenance exposure, I am pleased to announce that the management of Aero Contractors is pledging an offer of immediate employment to the best 10 student engineers that emerge from the On the Job Training. They shall be distributed five each to our Rotary and Fixed Wing Departments.

“Aero Contractors has chosen this course of action to demonstrate our unequivocal support to the policy of government,  which is the creation of employment opportunities for our youths.”

The Aero Contractors boss described its AMO as one of the few facilities which has made critical link between human capacity development and employment creation as a basis for effectively servicing Nigeria ‘s  growing aviation industry.

Sanusi urged government to continue to engage companies who have proven antecedent of human capacity development and employment creation.

“This is the proven path by which the organised private sector can accentuate the attainment of employment creation as advocated by government. “

The Chief Executive Officer and  Rector of NCAT,  Captain Abdulsalami Mohammed described the partnership between the organisations as a milestone that will play a significant role in advancing the safety and growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry.

He said:”This collaboration is unique in the sense that both parties have a long history in the aviation field.

“Aero Contractors is the first Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul Organisation and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology is the first Approved Training Organisation to be certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.”

Mohammed said human capacity development was  fundamental to sustainable development of the aviation industry.

But, he said achieving such feat of sufficient and effectively trained manpower demands  sustainable synergy and partnership among critical stakeholders.

For instance, he described the  partnership between the college and the airline as a “momentous phase”in the training of Nigeria ‘s future aircraft engineers.

“ The problem of lack of job opportunities in  the aviation sector has become a great concern to the players . As the Chief Executive Officer of a training organisation it is painful to see young qualified Nigerians finding it difficult to secure jobs. Therefore, it is profund that Aero Contractors has pledged to absorb 10 student of the college after the end of their stay in the airline.

“ Let me assure our partners of the college’s commitment to the development of aviation professionals.  Because of this , we will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that the aviation sector has well – trained and skilled manpower.

Update: Fake doctor sentenced to 54 years imprisonment in Adamawa

A Yola High Court has sentenced a fake medical doctor, Ibrahim Mustapha, to 54 years in prison.

Mustapha operated illegally as a PMO in Fufore Cottage hospital, Fufore local government area of Adamawa state.

Justice Nathan Musa gave the ruling Monday December 9, following an earlier plea of guilt by Mustapha.

Justice Nathan said the court had considered a plea of allocotus made by the convict’s counsel and therefore sentenced him on nine count charges.
“On counts one to three, I sentenced him six months each with the option of fine of N20,000 each”, he stated.
“On count eight, I sentence him to three years imprisonment with the option of N50,000 fine. On counts four, five, six, seven and 10, I sentenced him to 10 years of prison term on each of the counts without the option of a fine.”
He said that all the terms will run concurrently.

The convict has been in the DSS custody since June this year for operating patients facility without a valid document. He is said to have performed over 500 surgical operations causing the death of about 46 patients from January to May 2019

DSS Director in the state, Bola Olori, said a preliminary investigation revealed that Mustapha holds National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) certificate, an equivalent of Senior Secondary School certificate or High School.

The fake surgeon confessed to forging MBBS credentials according to the DSS but denied causing the death of any patient throughout his career until his arrest.
"Yes, I've forged the documents as stated by the DSS boss and also done both major and minor surgical operations, including caesarian section, altogether more than 500 surgeries without causing the death of any of my patients as claimed."

But the DSS said, "He perfected the illicit act in Gombe where he worked as a ward attendant in several clinics. He was aided by a practicing doctor who gave him sample copies of his NECO results, MBBS of Bayero University Kano, NYSC Discharge certificate and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, annual registration license. The suspect subsequently gained employment into the Adamawa state Hospital Management Board in October 2015 as a doctor and rose to the post of PMO, serving at both the Cottage hospital Mayo-Belwa and Fufore."

Mustapha ran out of luck when he attended visa interview as a potential medical team member for the 2019 hajj operations.

He was exposed by a man who knew him in Gombe as a ward attendant in an undisclosed clinic.

I’ll be the last person to support any idea terminating a recourse to information - Soyinka speaks on hate speech bill

Prof Wole Soyinka has opened up on why he is against the controversial hate speech which made it to the floor of the Nigerian senate.

The Nobel Laureate who spoke in Abuja at a summit to mark the United Nations International Anti- Corruption Day, said he will be the last person to support any idea terminating a recourse to information even though he has been a victim of hate news and fake news.

He said;

Quote:“We all are disgusted with fake news, hate news, destabilising and toxic news, but let’s ask ourselves seriously what we think we are doing if we start chopping off the heads of those whom we considered to have offended our sensibilities, either as individuals or as institutions, especially if such actions terminate the possibility of free expression, even though sometimes there is abuse of that expression.
“I stand here as one of those individuals who have been most affected by hate news, fake news, even to the extent that I had my identity stolen, abused and used in all kinds of ways, against what I really believe in.
“But I’ll be the last person to support any idea of terminating a recourse to information simply because some people abuse the means of that and the answer to that is people or put them before a firing squad.
“When you take a combination, therefore, of a major principle, almost core security institution, you take that side by side with that of a legislative house, it curtails the possibility of an opened society and looks as if we have all been put in a slave plantation.”

He pointed out that Nigerians might be unjustly punished by security agencies if the bill is passed into law. According to him, proposal of a capital punishment for hate speech is an attempt to take away free speech from Nigerians.

Soyinka said;

Quote:“For instance, if the DSS is accused tomorrow of corruption, the DSS will say this is hate speech, off with its head and then maybe when we get to court and the judge grants the poor felon a temporary reprieve to bail, any security agency can then jump in the court, re-arrest the felon, break into the citadel of justice and say ‘we are re-arresting this individual because he’s indulged in hate speech’.
“Let us be careful in our responses to failures of society and make sure that we are not cutting off our noses to spite our faces".

Soyinka also lashed out at the Nigerian government for using the word "revolution" as its frontline charge in the prosecution of #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Soyinka.

He added;

Quote:“Am I going to be thrown in jail right away because the word revolution frightens some people?
“Go through history. Cuba, Soviet Union, China, Zimbabwe and so on, anytime there is the mention of the word revolution, one of the reasons cited is the commitment towards the eradication of corruption.
“So really revolution, whether revolution now or soon or next or in the future, is always tied up with what is rotten in the society, to which we give the general name of corruption and this is not a mere generalised statement.”

There’s no explanation anybody can give — Governor Akeredolu condemns invasion of courtroom by DSS operatives to arrest Sowore

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has condemned the invasion of the courtroom by Department of State Services (DSS) to rearrest #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore on Friday December 6.

Though the DSS and the Presidency have shared their own account of the incident, the Governor of Sowore's home state insisted that there is no explanation anyone can give to justify the invasion of the courtroom. Akeredolu also expressed fear of lawyers being arrested in the middle of court sessions.

He said;

Quote:“It should be an anathema to the bar that inaction has come upon us. The bar needs to talk on quite a number of things.
“We must be terror against demagogues. It is when your voice of the bar is heard consistently that it will earn respect. Will people go and desecrate our courtrooms and we keep quiet? The bar must condemn it. There is no explanation anybody can give you.
“Somebody calls it drama. Drama! How? What we saw was not drama, you must stand up to condemn the SSS for what they did in Abuja.
“Our spirit must remain indomitable. Forget about where we are today because enough of us made efforts to say what you have done is wrong and only way out was apology almost immediately but what people believe is different.
“If we are not careful, the day will come that people will walk into a judge’s sitting and arrest people with their wig and gown.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 10TH DECEMBER.

NO MORE PROMISES

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).

Some Christians still have the Old Testament mentality of trying to get something from God; trying to make His “promises” come to pass in their lives.

But to have this kind of consciousness is to be oblivious or completely ignorant of what Christ really came to do. He came as the fulfilment of all of God’s promises, such that there’s not one single promise in the Bible yet to be fulfilled for the Christian.

Once, I asked a group of Christians to mention, if they thought there was any one promise in the Bible for the new creation. Someone mentioned Psalm 37:4 NKJV: “Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” This is the problem: I said many are living the life of the Old Testament, and they think they’re living the Christian life.

Between the desires of your heart, and CHRIST that He’s already given you, which is greater? What else would you desire of someone who already gave you Himself? Didn’t you also read in 1 Corinthians 3:21 that all things are yours? Understand that all of the “promises” in the Old Testament have been fulfilled and abrogated. They are “old truths.” Think about when a country amends the constitution, and someone is still living by the old provisions; it won’t work that way.

God already gave you Himself, His Kingdom, and everything! When you come into Christ, everything belongs to you; there’s nothing more for Him to give you, for you’re a joint-heir with Him. Therefore, quit the struggle. Enjoy your life in Christ.

We read it in our opening verse that by His divine power, He already gave us (note it’s in past tense) ALL things that pertain to life and godliness; nothing is left out. Stop struggling with your bills. Stop struggling with your health. Choose the life of rest.

“Warring” in prayer for Him to fulfil His promises is an effort in futility. Live the Word, and in the Spirit; you’d discover that everything you could ever want is in the street that He gave you to walk in. Blessed be His Name forever!

CONFESSION

I function in the light of God’s Word, and I’m conscious of the bountiful provisions the Father has made available to me, and I’m enjoying them to the full. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

10TH DECEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Thank You, dear Spirit of God, for Your presence, power, and ministry in my life! I recognize and acknowledge You as the One at work in me, causing me to make progress and excel in my faith-walk; leading me in greater levels of glory!

Thank You for making me a success, and for bringing beauty into my life. Thank You for giving me the ability to be the BEST IN EVERYTHING I DO.

Thank You for helping me gain the mastery in my field; I function today at a high level of excellence. I walk in dominion today because the Spirit of the Lord has mantled my heart and imparted divine courage to my spirit.

LASTMA To Track Traffic Violators With Mobile Device
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2019, 07:59 AM - No Replies

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said all arrangements have been concluded to unveil a mobile device to electronically track and issue tickets to traffic law violators in Lagos State.

The Deputy General Manager of LASTMA, Comptroller Isaac Adetimiro, said this at a forum organised to explain the device and its functionality in Lagos on Friday, November 6.
Adetimiro said that the device, Traffic Management Solutions (TMS), was meant to capture videos and pictures of traffic violations in real time as they occur, without threat of harm to the traffic officers.

According to him, this technology has become necessary to efficiently and effectively manage traffic without creating further traffic flow obstruction through interaction of LASTMA officers with violators on the road.

The LASTMA boss said with the device, LASTMA’s officers would no longer physically and verbally engage violators on the road, but only use it to take videos and picture evidence of the violation.

On the operational process, he said that the Traffic Violation Management System (TVMS) through the device included data capturing, data processing, and data storage.

He said that the violation time, date, place and location would be captured and the device would transfer videos and pictures to the data processing centre for scrutiny, which would enhance transparency in the fines for offences.
Adetimiro said: “Captured violations are reviewed in our Violation Processing Centre to verify beyond any doubt that a traffic violation was committed and that the correct corresponding value of the legal fine is attached to it.

“This significantly reduces erroneous violation notifications being sent to vehicle owners. Anytime a violation is processed against any vehicle, the owner gets an SMS notification.
“The violators have 48 hours to either make payment or challenge the said violation at the court of law. If any of these is not done, action and enforcement will be taken against the violators.”

He said that the Violations Processing Centre would also provide an estimated employment for up to 3,000 qualified residents at kick off.
According to him, all processed violations are saved into individual violation files and uploaded into centralised data storage banks for safe keeping.

He said that such would be archived until they were recalled any time the need arose, for verification of violations, viewing video and picture evidence of the existing violations, or for the payment of violation fines attached to them.
The LASTMA boss said:

Quote:Every vehicle owner has a right to challenge a captured violation of their vehicle by clicking the challenge button on the website or mobile application.
“The vehicle owner would be required to go to the nearest traffic court to have the violation reviewed.
“The court will be provided with the stored video and picture evidence of the captured offence and the vehicle owner will be allowed to explain to the court why the evidence should be disregarded.

He said that the court’s ruling and decision on the matter would be final if any violator challenged a violation in court.

Adetimiro also said that vehicle owners should also be checking the status of their vehicles through free online checks, short codes and client app for any violation against such vehicles.
He said that the TMS would resolve the perennial traffic gridlock caused by traffic violation in a densely vehicular populated areas of the state.

The LASTMA boss said that it would eradicate the problem of payment of bribes to traffic officers, as only electronic payments guarantee the clearance of a violation from the violators list.

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old notorious kidnap kingpin named Aliyu Sani of Sabuwar-Unguwa quarters, Katsina.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah made the disclosure to newsmen at a news briefing on Monday in Katsina. He said that the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, Dec.4, in Katsina, following a tip-off.

Quote:“Sometime in April, the suspect conspired with one Abdulrahman Danfillo, 25, of the same address, now at large, deceived and abducted one Abubakar Muhammad and Aliyu Ahmed, all of Sabuwar-Unguwa, Katsina.
“The suspects took their victims to bandits at Gora forest, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State as kidnap victims.
The father of Abubakar Muhammad was compelled to pay the sum of N150,000 as ransom before his release, while Aliyu Ahmed is able to escape from the den of kidnappers,” he said.
He said that investigation was ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate. Isah also said that the police were able to arrest three persons for sending threat messages and made several phone calls intimidating one Shua’ibu Bala, 36, of Gozaki in Kafur Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the suspects threatened to kidnap the victim or any member of his family if he failed to pay them N150,000 as requested. According to him, the Operation Puff Adder led by DPO, Kafur succeeded in arresting the syndicate at Unguwar Iliya village, Kafur when the suspects went to collect the ransom of N150,000 as demanded.

He said that during the investigation, 23 cows suspected to have been stolen by the suspects were recovered from them. The police spokesman said that the suspects confessed to have committed the crimes and that they would be charged to court after investigation.

Serial rapist given 33 life sentences for attacks on 11 women and children

Britain’s worst serial rapist Joseph McCann has been sentenced to 33 life sentences after carrying out a series of brutal sex attacks on 11 women and children.

McCann, 34, didn't show up to the Old Bailey on Monday afternoon to hear his sentencing by Mr Justice Edis because he claimed he had a "bad back". He also chose not to appear via video-link.

During a two-week cocaine and vodka-fuelled rampage, McCann abducted and raped his victims, aged 11 to 71, at knife-point in London, Watford and the North West.

He was eventually caught up a tree after being chased by police officers who interrupted his attempt to rape two 14-year-old girls.

Mr Justice Edis branded McCann a "classic psychopath", "a coward, violent bully and paedophile", as he gave him 33 life sentences with a minimum term of 30 years.

On Friday, December 6, a jury deliberated for five hours to find him guilty of 37 charges relating to 11 victims, including eight rapes, false imprisonment and kidnap. McCann was also not present for his trial.

The convicted burglar had been freed by mistake just two months before he set out on his campaign of terror, between April 21 and May 5, this year.

McCann should have been recalled to prison indefinitely after he committed a burglary while on licence for an offence he committed in 2008, after threatening to stab a pensioner as he raided his home. Instead, he was handed a new fixed prison sentence and released automatically half way through, without Parole Board involvement, in February 2019, Metro UK reports.

The rapist has refused to engage in his trial throughout the process and continued in the same manner for his sentencing today.

In his absence, Mr Justice Edis said there should be an independent investigation into how the system "failed to protect" McCann’s victims from him.

He said: "This was a campaign of rape, violence and abduction of a kind which I have never seen or heard of before. Joseph McCann you are very dangerous indeed to people who are weaker then you are."

He added. "Among other things you are a coward and violent bully and a paedophile.

"Your grip on reality is quite tenuous, your instructions to lawyers were utterly ridiculous. You are entirely obsessed with yourself. In your world other people exist only for your pleasure and you have no ability to see the world in anybody’s eyes other than your own. You are a classic psychopath."

McCann abducted his first victim, a young woman in Watford, and raped her on April 21. She identified her attacker to police and a prison recall was issued but just four days later, he abducted a 25-year-old woman in Walthamstow. He subjected her to a 14-hour rape ordeal.

He was caught on CCTV hours later bundling another young woman into his car, as her sister ran off screaming, in north London. They escaped in Watford, after the 25-year-old hit McCann over the head with a vodka bottle.

McCann pictured buying petrol and condoms while looking into the car at two 14-year-old victims

On May 5, McCann tricked his way into the home of a woman he met in a Greater Manchester bar, tied her up and molested her 11 and 17-year-old children.

The teenage girl, who described McCann as "evil", managed to jump out of a first-floor window to call police and he fled on a child’s bicycle.

On that day alone McCann attacked seven victims – attacking a 71-year-old churchgoer in her own black Fiat Punto after doing her weekly shop at Morrisons in Bury in the same afternoon. After punching her across the face he forced her to drive him to an industrial estate where he raped her orally.

He also forced her to drive the car until he found a 13-year-old girl, who he dragged into the back seat of the car and sexually assaulted.

McCann then forced two 14-year-old girls into the car by threatening to "chop them up" with a machete.

He was captured on CCTV buying condoms at a service station, while his victims were in the car, before he was spotted by a patrol car, which began to chase him. But McCann drove the wrong way on a roundabout and crashed into a Mercedes before making off on foot, leaving the "terrified" girls behind.

A police helicopter finally found him up a tree, before he was coaxed down and arrested early on May 6.

A probation officer has been demoted after a Ministry of Justice review found that he was released because staff were unaware of his indeterminate jail sentence.

McCann was handed one of Britain’s first ASBOs (a court order obtained in order to restrict the behaviour of a person likely to cause harm or distress to the public) in 1999, after which he and his siblings were pictured leaving court with grins on their faces.

McCann had his first conviction in 1998 at just 11 years old when was caught stealing.

One neighbour told MailOnline: "They were a horrible family, absolutely vile – scum of the earth."

₦29billion Debt: AMCON takes over Olajide Omokore’s Cedar Oil & Gas (Photos)

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Monday December 9, took possession of Cedar Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Limited over a N29 billion debt.

AMCON took over the oil firm owned by Olajide Omokore in compliance with a court order issued by Justice C.J Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division.

A new manager/receiver has now been appointed by AMCON who is now in possession of the company's assets which includes; Block A, No. 46 Gerrard Road, Ikoyi Lagos State, comprising of 26 flats; Plot 1236, River Niger Street, off River Benue Street, Maitama, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; as well as Marion Apartment, Block 8, No. 4 & 5, Onikoyi Estate, Banana Island, Lagos State, consisting of 43 units of apartments. AMCON is also in possession of No. 33A, Cooper Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State; No. 8, Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State as well as Manson Apartments, No. 6, Gerrard Road, Lagos State comprising of 60 units of three-bedroom apartments.

Justice Aneke issued the court injunction after Omokore and other Cedar Oil & Gas' directors; Isiaka Muhammed, Joseph Bazuaye, Silas Ode failed to pay their admitted sum of over N15 billion out of the total outstanding indebtedness of N29billion owed to the recovery agency of the federal republic of Nigeria.

AMCON's Head of Communication, Jude Nwauzor who confirmed the asset takeover said they were only obeying a court order.

Nwauzor said;

Quote:“We saw it coming because the said debt is long overdue. You can see how these top AMCON obligors are taking all Nigerians for a ride. Even when they admitted repaying over N15 billion owed AMCON, they still did not honour their own agreement, which they did not make under duress"
“I want you to understand that before we get to this stage with any obligor, we must have patiently tried to resolve the matter without going to court. Anytime we end up taking over assets such as in the case of Cedar Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Limited as well as its directors, Olajide Omokore and others, it means all efforts by AMCON to get the obligor to amicably repay the indebtedness have proved abortive.
“If you have exhausted all avenues of peaceful resolution, there is no other option available to the Corporation than to commence enforcement action against the firm and Mr Olajide Omokore the promoter of Cedar Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Limited as well as the other directors as ordered by the Court and as provided under Section 49-52 of the AMCON Act.”

We inherited almost bankrupt State from Ajimobi – Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has said his administration inherited an almost bankrupt State from his predecessor, Abiola Ajimobi.

He urged Nigerians to join hands with anti-corruption agencies to fight corruption and stamp it out of the country, stressing that without eradicating corruption, no Nigerian citizen could experience dividend of democracy.

Makinde stated this on Monday, December 9th in Ibadan during a rally organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office to commemoration the International Anti-Corruption Day themed, “Zero Tolerance to Corruption”.

The Governor, who pledged his support to EFCC in fighting corruption in Nigeria to a standstill, said that he inherited an almost bankrupt state due to the poor management of the state’s resources by his predecessor, pointing out, “Oyo State was almost bankrupt when we took over”.

According to him, with corruption ravaging the country, it may be difficult for the good old days to come.

Quote:“Do you know what corruption can do to you? Do you know what corruption can do to a nation? If you want free health system, free education, good road and infrastructural development, then fight corruption and kill it.
Let me tell you, we have been able to achieve something because we are not corrupt.
“If we are corrupt, we cannot do what we are doing right now. If you see anybody engaging in corruption, expose such. My government will fight corruption down to the local level. We will tackle corruption even at the grassroots level”, he added.
He stated further, “Oyo State is happy to join EFCC to fight corruption. We are the first state in Nigeria to domesticate anti-graft law. We will ensure that whatever we do during this administration, we do it right”.

Zonal Head, EFCC, Ibadan, Friday Ebelo, who sought collaboration with the state government to fight corruption, stated that in 2019, the commission in Ibadan secured convictions for 171 out of the 268 prosecuted for financial crimes.
Quote:He said, “Our investigations also led to temporary fixing of 1044 bank accounts, while 56 automobiles and 14 houses were impounded. We equally have several laptops, android phones and many other electronic devices confiscated in compliance with court orders.
In the period under review, the zone also recovered on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria huge sums of money in both local and foreign currencies. These include a total of N211, 134,927.26. For the foreign currencies, we had $136,289 and €2000 and £765”.

Should that scenario unfold in late April, it remains unclear how the Packers would proceed. Even a trade down could become difficult with the likely top two quarterbacks -- Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray and Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins -- already off the board Kadar projects here. Alabama’s Jonah Williams could make sense as a long-term solution at right tackle or guard, two areas of the offensive line that the team needs to address in the near future.A relative of former Packers cornerback and Hall of Famer Herb Adderley, Nasir Adderley emerged from the FCS as one of the top safety prospects in the 2019 draft class. Or if the Houston Texans third-string quarterback saw the linebacker lurking, he overlooked him. Webb tried to lob a pass over the top, but that linebacker — sporting a number usually reserved for future castoffs — leapt into the air and tipped the ball away. That’s the story of Curtis Bolton’s football journey to this point. Bolton has gone from a lightly recruited high school player to Oklahoma’s special teams maven who earned his way onto the field in the Big 12 to an undrafted free agent now staring a starting linebacker job with the Packers squarely in the eyes. If you don’t know the player Pro Football Focus graded as the top defender from Week 1 of the preseason, you aren’t alone. NFL Draft Scout, the gold standard for draft coverage, projected Bolton could go as high as the 5th round, with a team most likely to snag him in the 6th or 7th round. He was their 21st ranked outside linebacker. In fact, Bolton was such an afterthought to many as a prospect, he doesn’t even have a MockDraftable page to check his testing numbers. His RotoWorld page only features two news items Davante Adams Jersey , neither from the year he actually spent starting for the Sooners. Search YouTube, and the only highlights you’ll find are from when “Buzzy” was a three-star recruit in Murrieta, California. Yet Bolton was an honorable mention All-Big 12 player last season with 138 tackles, 12 TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and 2 passes defended in his one year as a starter for the Sooners. Players from blue blood programs who put up those kinds of numbers generally get noticed more than Bolton. At 6-foot-1 and 228 pounds, he’s undersized and lacks the athleticism that jumps off the page the way NFL teams covet. His Relative Athlete Score of 7.15 is just a touch better than Kyler Fackrell (and just ahead of ex-Packer Carl Bradford) but at 6-foot-1 228 pounds teams would want something faster than a 4.59 40-yard dash and better agility times. On the other hand, as Bill Belichick would say, don’t tell me what he can’t do, tell me what he can do. Early in Bolton’s college career, Oklahoma linebackers coach Tim Kish decided the best way to use Bolton’s first-step explosiveness was on the edge. Kish says Bolton was the team’s second-best pass rusher, a dime package specialist put on the field to make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.Injuries kept him from making a bigger splash before his standout senior season. A shoulder injury robbed him of the chance at significant playing time as a junior and he wasn’t expected to start even as a senior with the Sooners moving a five-star recruit to inside linebacker. Bolton won the job, shocking everyone but his position coach. Curtis Bolton took advantage of his limited opportunities early before injuries set back his collegiate development. Photo by Roy K. Miller/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images“That’s exactly the player I expected him to be,” Kish says. “I think he would have had a similar outcome to his junior season had be been able to play through that year without getting hurt.”With just that single season of production, size and the history of injuries, NFL teams worried about his role at the next level. Could he hold up? But the talent, the obvious skillset with his ability to play in space, was all there. Lance Zierlein, who scouts draft prospects for NFL.com said this about Bolton: “Bolton needs to get bigger and improve his hand usage, but he plays a persistent brand of ball and showed vast improvement by the end of the year. His fluidity in space and knack as a blitzer could earn him a legitimate shot as a 4-3 backup WILL linebacker who could become one of the steals of the late rounds.” SB Nation’s Dan Kadar saw a similar player on tape, also pointing to potential as a WILL linebacker in the NFL. Some of Kadar’s notes on Bolton include the following: “Is more of a space player than someone who will come up and fill a gap. Has on-field speed and hustle to chase. Could be a solid blitzer. Intriguing as a cover linebacker because of his movement skills.”The combination of size (or in Bolton’s case, a lack thereof) and coverage ability is what had analysts pegging him as a weakside linebacker. The Platonic ideal at WILL has long been Derrick Brooks, the greatest pass-defending outside linebacker ever. Undersized linebackers who struggle to get off blocks in the run game get put that that box Ray Nitschke Jersey White , which is an unfortunate shape for a 3-4 defense where Bolton has to stay inside. Kish dismisses the notion Bolton has to be a weakside run-and-chase linebacker. “Curtis is not afraid to go in there and mix it up inside,” Kish says, noting the NFL game has followed the college game by removing many of the traditional power looks that smaller linebackers would have struggled to defend in generations past. “For him to be able to run down counters, and powers, tosses and sweeps and anything that’s outside the tackles box, I think that’s something he’ll really thrive in,” he says. “I had no hesitation playing him at the WILL inside linebacker in college. He held his own.”Fluidity in space kept Antonio Morrison from being a bigger part of the defense for Mike Pettine last season and Bolton’s ability to shoot gaps as a blitzer dovetails with Pettine’s affinity for double-A gap pressures. He was also one of the most efficient blitzing linebackers in the 2019 draft class with 29 pressures in 87 pass rush snaps, and finished 7th in PFF’s pass-rush productivity metric, ahead of top-10 linebacker picks Devin Bush and Devin White. This is Bolton’s pass-rush prowess on display, the trait that earned him reps on the field to start his career. But despite his size, Bolton makes an impact in the run game as well. Run stop percentage how measures how often a player makes a tackle that results in a non-successful play for the offense. Bolton’s run stop percentage at Oklahoma (10.74%) was just a tick below the aforementioned White (11.24%) and well ahead of Bush (6.76%). Those numbers could have been even better if he’d tackled more efficiently. Aside from size, reliability as a tackler stands out as Bolton’s biggest flaw. For a Packers defense with precisely that ailment going back years now, the rookie linebacker has to get that part of his game worked out if he wants to be on the field for Green Bay. “I gotta finish plays,” Bolton told Matt Schneidman of the The Athletic on Sunday. “My first or second play in, I should’ve got a TFL, didn’t get it. I tipped a pass and jumped, could’ve picked it, didn’t pick it. I cleanly beat the running back on a pass rush, don’t get the sack. Those are things that, if you wanna play in this league, you gotta finish those. This isn’t high school. This isn’t college. There’s 100 people out there waiting for the opportunity that you have. Those are the type of plays you gotta make if you wanna stick around.”Bolton already has to deal with challenges from fellow Big 12 rookie Ty Summers, who has made a push of his own in training camp. Even before Bolton’s big preseason opener—Summers had one as well—Bolton often ran ahead of Summers in the inside linebacker rotation. With Oren Burks having no clear timetable for recovery following a chest injury, Bolton has received the first crack at trying to replace the versatile Year 2 cover linebacker. “You hate to see that stuff go down. I’ve seen all the work (Burks) put in in this last year too Aaron Rodgers Jersey White ,” Bolton said. “It’s tragic. We’re all praying for him, for a speedy recovery. At the end of the day, football’s football, but this is life. This is his livelihood. I recognize that, but at the end of the day I have to be the type of person that, I play his position. It’s a next man up mentality and I’m just trying to take advantage of my opportunity.”Challenges, even deeply personal ones, are nothing new for Bolton, who lost his father, his idol, in high school. He plays the game now as an homage to his dad. From personal tragedy to injuries and competition from five-star recruits, now to facing the prospect of going from camp body to starter, Bolton doesn’t back down from these challenges. “He’s a tremendous competitor,” Kish insists. “He doesn’t think anyone can beat him. He wouldn’t say that to you, but I will.”On Thursday night, Buzzy will get his first chance to run with the starters in a game where they’ll actually get meaningful playing time against the Ravens, an AFC playoff team from a year ago. We also found out Tuesday Oren Burks’ pectoral injury likely won’t be season ending, but there’s no time table for his return. Could his job end up being taken when Burks can get back healthy? Given the way his football life has unfolded to this point, underestimate Bolton at your own peril.

Buy Classic WOW Gold have chances to get surprise gifts

When World of Warcraft's fiery game began to stay on my computer for a long time, I gradually realized that I seemed to be attracted to Azeroth, and I really like the role of the night elf.

In the next few years, developer Blizzard Entertainment has been working on developing more and more updates on World of Warcraft, providing many free extensions while keeping the game open. Later, I gradually came into contact with World of Warcraft on different game platforms. At the same time, the currency system in World of Warcraft began to take shape. The cheapest WOW Gold is waiting for you

World of Warcraft is an online multiplayer game about equipment. When you kill a monster, you get a box that the system randomly drops. Pick up the box and open it, you will get some items that the system rewards you. The contents of the box are related to the monster you killed. The higher the level of monsters killed, the better the equipment inside the box. These gears can help you better protect yourself, especially those that are scarce in the game. The higher the level of equipment, the more valuable. In other words, if you want to get better gear, in addition to killing high-level monsters, you can also use Vanilla WOW Gold to redeem the equipment you want. If you want to redeem better gear, then you need to pay more for World of Warcraft gold.

There are several ways for players to get WOW Classic Gold For Sale, but there are two main ways. The first is obtained by completing the system task, but this method only wastes a lot of time for the player, and the amount obtained is also small. The second is to buy. The officially sold World of Warcraft Classic Gold is very expensive. Players can choose to get it at MMOWTS.COM at a very low price, which will not only help save your money, but also help you progress faster in the game.

WOW Classic Boosting can bring you convenience

More equipment and talent points will appear in the new version of World of Warcraft, players in the community have shown different attitudes. However, many players expressed their expectation that the new version will bring more changes. For all the end players, the “total task” is changing. The best explanation is that the developer: “Once you have selected the task, you must actively perform the task. You can now accumulate these tasks over time and then follow Go to your own pace and get the map area you want!"

For World of Warcraft, it has been 15 years since I realized it. Many players grow up with this game. And World of Warcraft still attracts a lot of new players. Especially after the release of World of Warcraft classics, it has attracted tens of thousands of new and old players. For different versions of the game, the official has also set different game difficulty. If players feel that the game is too difficult, WOW Classic Boosting is a good helper to solve the problem. If players still have a lot of doubts about World of Warcraft, then click ZZWOW, the 24-hour customer service here will help you solve the problem all day.

Obviously, everyone knew our cash situation, our cap situation. So there were times that they couldn’t figure something out Long Sleeve Cameron Smith Jersey , where I thought, ‘Obviously, I’m the easy guy to move.’ Now, the more I got familiar with our situation and talking to [G.M.] Rick [Spielman] and to the Vikings, they made it very clear early on that that wasn’t something that they wanted to do. So I talked about it a few times through the process. That it made it easier on me to—it’s cliche to say, but—just focus on football.”The extension was good for both sides, in that it created some short-term cap space for the Vikings at a time they needed it. But it also kept one of their most consistent performers around. The process wasn’t without its ups and downs, but Rudolph said he put his trust in his agents and the Vikings front office Stefon Diggs Jersey , and that was rewarded.“They told me that it was important for me to stay here and we told them that it was important to us to stay here,” he said. “And at that point, I could leave it at that. And you know a lot of people are hurt by the business side.“And I think for me personally I feel extremely blessed and fortunate.”And unlike other points this offseason, he feels confident he’ll be around to see his kids after school.Vikings Antwione Williams Was Fined For Roughing the Passer Against Jacksonville Jaguars NFL fans don’t need more reasons to not like the new tackling rules that they have introduced, but this new rule seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.Viking Antwione Williams was penalized and fined because of the confusing new rule and he, like us, are not happy about it.The penalty came when Williams used his body to tackle the quarterback to the ground. While the rest of the world sees this as a normal hit, the NFL now says this is roughing the passer which is now a penalty and a fine. I understand wanting to make playing safer for the longevity of the players health. That should always be the first concern. But since the NFL is not going back to the ways of old like we all want, they need to extremely clear on the new rule as to avoid future confusion. But the lack of clarity on the new rule continues to show. SB Nation found that, “Through two full weeks of the preseason Adam Thielen Jersey , as well as the Hall of Fame game, there have been 51 penalties because of the helmet rule, an average of 1.5 per game, mostly called against the defense (43).”We may not like this rule but it is here to stay. Hopefully clarity comes through from the top and they can go back to playing and we can go back to watching with no confusion.***Edit from J-Dog***It wasn’t known until a little earlier how much exactly Ant was fined for the penalty, but Ian Rapoport had the amount on Twitter:Quite the pretty penny for one of our backup linebackers.

LSU’s Devin White is atop most linebacker depth charts Youth Ryan Connelly Jersey , but what kind of player is he?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections New York Giants NewsGiants Training Camp 2016Giants vs. Eagles 2015, Week 172019 NFL DraftIs Devin White the linebacker the Giants have been searching for?New,75commentsLSU’s Devin White is atop most linebacker depth charts, but what kind of player is he?EDTShareTweetShareShareIs Devin White the linebacker the Giants have been searching for?Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY SportsThe New York Giants have not drafted a linebacker in the first round for longer than many Giants fans have been alive. The last time the Giants selected a linebacker in the first round was Carl Banks in 1984, a full thirty-five years ago. A year ago they traded with the Los Angeles Rams for former first round linebacker Alec Ogletree, paying just a fourth round pick but taking on a massive contract in the process. And unfortunately, Ogletree has not been the solution for the Giants’ linebacking woes that many Giants fans hoped he would be. But sitting at the top of the draft, the Giants might have the opportunity to draft a productive linebacker with an elite athletic profile in Devin White out of LSU. White has risen up draft boards throughout the draft process, capped by a fantastic workout at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. But White is not without his faults, but would they be enough to scare the Giants away at sixth overall?MeasurablesProsExtremely athletic. Legitimate sideline-to-sideline ability. Has the ability to run with most receiving options. Thick, powerful build. Very active linebacker. Always in motion and in pursuit.Active communicator before the snap. Shows off explosiveness coming downhill. Flashes the ability to use his athleticism to beat blockers.Played a variety of linebacker positions and covered slot receivers.ConsToo easily fooled by deception and misdirection. Too much wasted motion after the snap.Processing speed is a question. Too often takes bad angles as a tackler. Lacks a plan as a pass rusher. Gets hung up on blockers too often.Note: It bears mentioning that White was arrested twice at age 17, before enrolling at LSU. The first was for having consensual sex with a 14-year old, resulting in a misdemeanor charge. The second was for “careless operation of a motor vehicle and flight from an officer.”Numbers Of NoteStatistics from Dan PizzutaWhite had 20.5 run stuffs per Football Study Hall Womens Ryan Connelly Jersey , the third most among this off-ball linebacker class behind West Virginia’s David Long (30) and Utah’s Chase Hansen (27.5).White’s three forced fumbles rank second in this class behind Washington’s Ben Burr-Kirven (4).Per Sports Info Solutions, White allowed 69.9 percent of his 23 targets to be completed for 7.3 yards per target. The yards per target mark is the fourth-worst among the top-25 linebackers. However, his six passes defensed was tied for the most among this obLB classWhite blitzed on 22.7 percent of his pass snaps, per SIS, and had a pressure rate of 24.8 percent, both marks were among the position leaders.Prospect VideoWhat They’re Saying - Joe Marino (The Draft Network - Scouting Report) Does He Fit The Giants?First, let’s address the legal and character questions: NFL teams will be doing their due diligence in digging in to every prospect’s background and character. If White’s history is the result of bad decisions and not maliciousness, and he has matured past them as a young man, then they aren’t likely to be red flags for NFL teams. However, if there have been other minor incidents or warning signs that we don’t know about, the NFL will have to take that into consideration and every team decide how comfortable they are with the potential risk. As I sit here, I don’t know, and I am not passing judgement. I would hope that he was just an idiot -- as 17 year olds tend to be. The only fair thing I can do is evaluate White based on the tape he has produced.Athletically speaking Authentic Ryan Connelly Jersey , White should fit in any defensive scheme in the NFL, and if he doesn’t, that scheme should probably be revised. That being said, he might not be a seamless fit in the Giants’ defense as it stands now -- primarily because of the presence of Alec Ogletree. White’s best fit in the Giants’ defense would be as the weak-inside linebacker, where he can use his athleticism in pursuit, in space as a coverage player on running backs and tight ends, or as a blitzer. However, that is the position played by Ogletree, who is not only the defensive signal caller but also very highly paid. There is also the question of what kind of player you are getting in White. At first blush, he looks like a defensive coordinator put him together using a create-a-player, after entering a cheat code. Perhaps an inch or two below “desired” height, but by no means undersized, with explosive power Ryan Connelly Jersey Boys , loose hips, and speed to burn, White has every physical tool you could ask for. However, his mental game does not appear to be nearly as developed as his physical abilities. Far too often White is baited by the offense and taken out of the play or simply frozen while he sorts out where the ball is going. Compounding the issue is a habit of taking poor angles to the football, often running to where an offensive player is rather than putting himself where they will be.White does flash the ability to use his athleticism to slip past blockers as a pass rusher, using his arms and loose hips to get past them in a blink. More often White comes downhill like he was fired out of a cannon when his number is called for a blitz. But like a cannonball, his only option when he hits an obstacle is to go through it. Similarly, too often he fails to truly stack and shed blockers, instead trying to rely on his explosive power and athleticism to bull them over, and he can wind up hung up on blockers as the ball carrier runs past. And this is the question with White. While his athletic profile and flashes suggest an elite prospect and perennial All-Pro, his mental game is not there yet. The team that drafts him must be sure they can teach him proper technique taking on blockers and squaring to tackle, as well as coach up the mental aspect of his game. Luke Kuechley is still the gold standard for inside linebacker play in the NFL, and while he is an elite athlete Infant Ryan Connelly Jersey , it is his sky-high football IQ and instincts that border on prescience that make him great. White DID show growth in that area over the last two years, and that might be enough to give confidence that he will get there. But if he doesn’t, he could be a player that always leaves his team wanting more. So lets go back and sift through the noise and circle back to some of those stories we might have missed. Brace yourself, the draft Is coming ...We have reached the point in the draft process where the smoke screens are so thick that even Keith Richards is stepping out for some fresh air. They have also shown interest in Drew Lock and will be hosting him for an official visit this week.Hopefully Nick Bosa won’t sack him out of reflex. The Giants hold their local pro dayEvery year teams are allowed just 30 official visits with prospects. However, they also hold a special pro day for prospects from nearby colleges Ryan Connelly Jersey Draft , which does not count against their official visit total. NJ.com reports that this year the Giants are hosting a couple interesting players in corner Amani Oruwariye out of Penn State and defensive tackle Michael Dogbe out of Temple [prospect profile]. On a more personal note, WR Juston Coleman and CB Brandon Miller of Marist College (close to where I grew up) and defensive linemen Antoine White and Brian Dolce of SUNY Albany (my alma mater) will be in attendance on Friday when that workout is held.Ed Oliver is a freakOkay, yes. We knew this. We have known that Oliver is a freakish athlete for years now. Oliver is athletic enough that people have talked seriously about standing him up and playing him at linebacker. But still some were wondering if he was worthy of a top 10 pick or whether or not he was big enough to be a defensive tackle in the NFL (never mind that he was able to play nose tackle at 280 pounds for Houston). But he reminded us all just what kind of athlete he is at Houston’s pro day. At the Combine, Oliver had a broad jump of 10 feet and a vertical of 36 inches. To that he added a 4.71 - 4.75 second 40-yard dash, a 7.15 second 3-cone drill (faster than Jason Pierre-Paul) and a 4.22 second short shuttle (.02 faster than Saquon Barkley).VideoAfter skipping most of the combine, Oliver is back in the national conversation as a top-10 pick, and for the Giants at 6th overall. He probably never should have left it.
