A Nigerian man has taken to Instagram to narrate his alleged encounter with some police officers who almost arrested him because he used a photo of Tottenham coach, Jose Mourinho as his Whatsapp DP.

According to @chu_chu_sam, the police men who insinuated he might have used the photo of Mourinho to defraud some of his contacts threatened to arrest, torture and take him down to the police station.

@Chu_Chu_Sam who didn't give in to the demands of the police officers said he was freed after being detained for some time.

Quote:He wrote "Police man: come out of the car
Me : comes out
Police man: oya give me your phone
Me: oya take my phone
Police man: why do you have Jose Mourinho as your whatsap profile pic
Me: I’m a fan of Mourinho, is there any problem ?
Police man: don’t you know you can use Mourinho’s face to defraud people ?
Me: how on earth will someone even believe that he or she is chatting with Mourinho ? This is one of the biggest football coach in the world.
Police man: you want to tell me that none of your contacts thinks you are Mourinho ?
Me: burst out laugh and I’m like I can borrow you my google to check who Mourinho is!
Police man: you are mad , you are a thief , criminal etc and I’m going to torture you ?
Me : tor gini? Say ? You are going to do what ? Torture me for what exactly ? Are you okay?
Police man: oya go and enter our car I will take you to our station , you will explain your business with Jose Mourinho.
Me: okay nah let’s go to the station
Police man: let’s settle here
Me: there is nothing to settle and I will gladly go to the station with you to find out exactly what i did.
After an hour and few mins of threatening and shouting
Police man : carry your wahala and go
You all will never believe how dumb and stupid most police men are till you actually have an encounter with them."

Five Dead, Nine Critically Injured On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, on Sunday confirmed an accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed the lives of five persons and injured nine others.

Clement Oladele, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun, that the accident occurred at 9.10 p.m. around Danco Petrol Station, near Sagamu, on Saturday.

Mr Oladele blamed the lone accident, which involved a white Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number LSR 642XB, on speed violation.

He said that 14 persons, 10 males and four females, were involved in the crash.

“The corpse of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, while the survivors are also receiving treatment at the same hospital,” the sector commander said.

He said the obstruction as a result of the accident had been cleared to ease free flow of traffic on the highway.

The sector commander commiserated with the victims’ families and enjoined members of the public, whose relations were involved in the ill-fated crash, to contact the FRSC Command or the OOUTH, Sagamu, for any information.

Mr Oladele also reiterated the need for motorists to drive cautiously within the recommended speed of 50 kilometres per hour at construction sites.

He advised passengers to always caution drivers who are in the habit of driving recklessly, and call the FRSC’s toll free number 122, to report any driver who refused to take caution.

Photo: 5 Police Officers Involved In The Innocent Shooting Of Civilians Arrested
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-01-2019, 04:29 PM - No Replies

Police officers involved in the shooting incident that occurred at Crest Inn Club, Oshodi, Lagos have been arrested as ordered by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.

Police shooting on Friday Nov. 29 at the popular club at 28/30 Balogun Street, Oshodi led to death of one Maliki Mohammed ‘m’ 27 years old, while two other persons sustained injuries.

A press release signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, listed the Police Officers involved as “Inspector Orubu Olusola, Inspector Apalowo Ola, Inspector Kasai Sule, Sergeant Momoh Ogwuche and Sergeant Adoga Collins attached to Akinpelu Division.

They are under the supervision of DSP Oloko Wale, who is the Divisional Crime Officer and ASP Adamu Babajo, the Divisional Operations Officer.”

In their statement, the team said they were at the club in response to a complaint made by one Makinde Omowunmi Abibat ‘f’ of No 9 Olaore Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi at Akinpelu Police Station who claimed she had been assaulted in the Club.

The officers claimed they were attacked by some hoodlums while trying to make arrest, which necessitated their use of firearms.

“This, however, fell short of the provision of Force Order 237 which defined the circumstances in which a police officer will be justified to use his firearms and the use of force.

“The Police Officers involved are already facing internal disciplinary proceedings known as Orderly Room Trial at the Provost Department of the Command. If found guilty, they would be handed over to conventional Court for prosecution.

“Members of the Public will be updated on the outcome of the Orderly Room Trial.” The statement assured.

The released also informed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO); Divisional Crime Officer (DCO); and the Divisional Operations Officer were issued official queries for lack of supervision.

Petrol subsidy increases by 2,000% in one year

BUSINESS & ECONOMY

Petrol subsidy increases by 2,000% in one year

The amount spent as subsidy on petrol increased from N2.87bn in November 2018 to about N60.37bn in November 2019, representing an increase of 2,001 per cent.

An analysis of the amount spent on petrol subsidy in November this year showed that every litre of the product consumed in Nigeria was subsidised by an average of about N36.59 by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. The NNPC is currently the sole importer of the petrol.

Figures contained in selected petrol pricing templates obtained from the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency in Abuja on Friday showed that petrol subsidies on November 15, 18, 21 and 26 were N30.4, N30.79, N45.64 and N39.53 respectively.

The differences between the Expected Open Market Price and the ex-depot cost for petrol collection gave rise to the actual amount spent as subsidy daily by the NNPC.

An average of the available subsidy figures provided by the PPPRA in November 2019 showed that the national oil firm spent about N36.59 on every litre of petrol in the month under review.

The NNPC, on several occasions, had stated that Nigeria consumed between 55 million and 60 million litres of petrol daily.

In its most recent financial and operations report, for instance, the corporation said a total of 55.74 million litres of petrol was consumed across the country on a daily basis.
Going by a daily consumption of 55 million litres and an average of N36.59 subsidy, which the corporation incurred in November on every litre, it therefore implies that the national oil firm spent about N60.37bn on petrol subsidy during the 30 days of November.
The corporation subsidises petrol to ensure that it is not sold above N145 per litre at filling stations across the country.

The NNPC, however, classifies its subsidy spending as under-recovery, as it has repeatedly argued that only the National Assembly could approve subsidy.

Under-recovery is the additional cost that the NNPC is incurring in subsidising the price of petrol in order to ensure that it is sold at the regulated price, even when the real market price is above this regulated rate.

SERAP Sues FG Over Failed Chinese $460m Abuja CCTV Project
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-01-2019, 12:08 PM - No Replies

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Mrs Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning over failure to “disclose information and specific documents on the total amount of money paid to contractors from the $460 million loan obtained in 2010 from China to fund the apparently failed Abuja Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) project, and failure to name the contractors involved and explain why the government has continued to re-pay the loan.”

In the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1447/2019 filed last week at the Federal High Court, Abuja, SERAP is seeking “an order for leave to apply for judicial review and an order of mandamus to direct and/or compel the Minister of Finance to disclose the details of local companies and Chinese contractors that have received funds from the $460 million loan for the finance of the failed Abuja CCTV project as well as details of the status of implementation of the project.”

SERAP is also seeking “an order of mandamus to direct and compel the Minister of Finance to disclose whether the sum of N1.5 billion Naira paid in 2010 for the failed project meant to construct the headquarters of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) was part of another loan obtained from China, and to clarify further whether the sum of N1.5 billion Naira mobilsation fee for the construction of the Headquarters of the CCB in Abuja was part of another loan from China.”

The suit followed SERAP’s Freedom of Information (FoI) request dated 25 October 2019 to Mrs Ahmed, expressing: “concern that Nigerians are being made to pay for the Chinese loans for failed and abandoned projects, and for which they have not benefited in any way, shape or form.”

The suit filed on behalf of SERAP by its lawyers Kolawole Oluwadare, Opeyemi Owolabi and Ms Atinuke Adejuyigbe, read in part: “Transparency in the spending of Chinese loans is good for everyone, as this would help to increase the effectiveness, legitimacy, and contribution of the loans to the development of public goods and services, and the general public interests.”

“The information being requested does not come within the purview of the types of information exempted from disclosure under the Act. The Respondent has no legally justifiable reason for refusing to provide SERAP with the information requested.”

“Democracy cannot flourish if governments operate in secrecy. The citizens are entitled to know how the commonwealth is being utilized, managed and administered in a democratic setting.”

“By the combined provisions of Sections 1; 2; 3(4); 4; 7(1)&(5); 9; 14(2)(b); 19(2); 20 of the FoI Act, 2011, among other provisions; SERAP’s right of access to information is guaranteed and there is a statutory obligation on the Respondent, being public officer, to proactively keep, organize and maintain all information or records about her ministry’s operations, personnel, activities and other relevant or related information or records in a manner that facilitates public access to such information or record.”

“By virtue of Section 4 (a) of the FOI Act when a person makes a request for information from a public official, institution or agency, the public official, institution or agency to whom the application is directed is under a binding legal obligation to provide the applicant with the information requested for, except as otherwise provided by the Act, within 7 days after the application is received.”

“The Respondent is an appointee of the President of Nigeria and head of the Ministry of Finance. Her official duties include; collecting and disbursing government revenue, formulating policies on management of the Federal Government’s finance, preparing annual budget and accounts for ministries, departments and agencies and managing federal debt.”

“Obedience to the rule of law by all citizens but more particularly those who publicly took oath of office to protect and preserve the constitution is a desideratum to good governance and respect for the rule of law. In a democratic society, this is meant to be a norm; it is an apostasy for government to ignore the provisions of the law and the necessary rules to regulate matters”

The FoI request read in part: “As trustee of public funds, SERAP contends that your Ministry has a legal duty to disclose details of spending on the $460 million Abuja CCTV project and N1.5 billion for the construction of CCB headquarters, to the beneficiaries (Nigerians) of the trust, if and when called upon to do so. Any failure or refusal to provide the information will also be clearly inconsistent with the letter and spirit of the FoI Act.”

“Servicing Chinese loans for failed projects is double jeopardy for Nigerians—they can neither see nor benefit from the projects; yet, they are made to pay both the loans and the accrued interests.”

“The $460 million loan got for the failed Abuja CCTV project and the N1.5 billion for the construction of CCB headquarters, which may be part of another Chinese loan, may have been mismanaged or stolen, and in any case, remain unaccounted for.”

“As a key agency of government, the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning has a sacred duty to ensure that the country’s loans including those obtained from China are transparently and accountably used solely for the purposes for which the loans are obtained, and for the effective development of public goods and services as well as the general public interests.”

The suit is seeking the following reliefs:

1. AN ORDER granting leave to the Applicant to apply for judicial review and to seek an order of mandamus directing and compelling the Respondent to provide and make available to the Applicant information on the total amount of money paid to contractors, with specific details of names of companies local contractors involved, from the $460 million loan obtained in 2010 from China by the Federal Government of Nigeria to fund the Abuja Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) contract.

2. AN ORDER granting leave to the Applicant to apply for judicial review and to seek an order of Mandamus directing and compelling the Respondent to provide the details of the local companies and Chinese contractors that have received funds from the $460 million loan for the finance of the Abuja CCTV contract as well as details of the status of implementation of the project.

3. AN ORDER granting leave to the Applicant to apply for judicial review and to seek an order of Mandamus directing and compelling the Respondent to provide details clarifying whether the sum of N1.5 billion Naira paid in 2010 for the failed contract meant to construct the headquarters of the CCB was part of another loan obtained from China, and to clarify further whether the sum of N1.5 billion Naira mobilsation fee reportedly paid to the contractors for the construction of the Headquarters of the Code of Conduct Bureau in Abuja was part of another loan from China.

4. AND FOR SUCH FURTHER ORDER(S) the Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit

APC To Matawalle: Well Done For Stopping The Bogus Pension
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:Governor Matawalle of the Peoples Democratic Party had earlier last week stopped the 10 million naira pension for ex governors of Zamfara state. Other monthly pensions for ex deputy governors and speakers of Zamfara state house of assembly were also cancelled.

Ex governor Yari before he left office, in collaboration with the state house of Assembly passed a bill into law, availing them the opportunity to continually receive bogus pensions for life.

Alhaji Sani Gwamna, the APC Vice Chairman in the Central Senatorial District commended Gov. Matawalle for the bold step to stop the outrageous pensions. He however, stressed that the funds be channeled into opening up rural areas as well as infrastructural development in the state.

Alhaji Gwamna on the happenings in the state, blamed politicians for using security operatives to harass and intimidate their members. He said that they remained law abiding despite the development.

"We are ready to comply with the security personnel, but when they resort to harassing our members, then it is not fair" - he added.

Bayelsa/kogi Guber: Jonathan Speaks On Sad Incidents
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-01-2019, 11:01 AM - No Replies

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has pleaded with politicians to stop killing the masses during elections.

Jonathan said that what happened in the last governorship election in Bayelsa and Kogi States was something that should not happen in any normal society.

Making reference to the Peoples Democratic Party’s women leader who was burnt to death in her house, in Kogi State during the polls, the ex-president said something is fundamentally wrong with the political system.

He said that politicians were resorting to political coups as a substitute for military coups, critiquing the phenomenon as bad the continent.

Jonathan stated this at the weekend while speaking on behalf of other awardees at the convocation ceremony of Igbinedion University Okada, in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

What happened in the last governorship elections in my state, Bayelsa State, and especially in Kogi State, where that young lady was burnt alive in her house, is something that should not happen in any normal society. Something is fundamentally wrong with our political system,” the former President stated.

“Only yesterday in Ndjamena, we were discussing the politics of our continent, most of us former Heads of States, Presidents, former Presidents, Vice Presidents.

“The way African politics is going we are replacing military coup with political coup d’etat and that cannot sustain the continent.

Let me plead with my fellow politicians, they should stop killing people, and destroying properties because people want to own offices,” he said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 1ST DECEMBER.

DIVINE TRANSFIGURATION

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering (Luke 9:29)

Many times, people pray, "O God, let your glory rest upon me." But in the New Testament, that's a wrong prayer. Many pray that way because they admire what happened with Moses in the Old Testament; the glory of God that came upon Him and rested on his countenance. But we have something better than that today, because the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of glory, lives in us.

What we have in us is a more excellent glory; a surpassing glory: "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.

For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious" (2 Corinthians 3:10-11). Read our theme verse again; it says, "And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering." It shows what happened to Jesus as He prayed at the Mount of transfiguration:

He was transfigured; there was so much glory radiating from Him that His appearance was altered. But that glory and power was from within.

The same thing happens when we pray. There're two things that we do that get us transfigured and have the glory literally resplendent on our countenance. The more you do them, the more of that transfiguration you'd experience. The first is praying in tongues. The Bible says, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself..." (1 Corinthians 14:4); you're charged, edified and built up, like you build the power of a battery, which means your light glows. Hallelujah!

Jude 1:20 says, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost." This must be the type of prayer that Jesus prayed, that in the spirit, they could see a transfiguration. Secondly, every time you pray the Word, it happens to you too. Yes, you're transfigured from glory to glory.

The more accurately the Word of God comes through your spirit in prayer the more you glow in the spirit. This will help you understand why you should pray all the time. When you pray, you're transfigured, and the more you stay in that glory, the more you carry its effect along with you. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word that has come to my spirit today; as I speak in tongues even now, I'm transformed in every area of my life, from glory to glory, and the light of your Word shines forth brightly in me, in Jesus' Name Amen.

Suya seller stabs tea vendor's customer to death over bread in Lagos

A tragic incident occurred at Juba Alaro Junction off Liasu road in Idimu area of Lagos on Monday November 25, as a tea vendor a.k.a Mai Shai's customer was stabbed to death following a heated argument over a N100 bread.

An eyewitness alleged that the deceased identified as Peter Nwala got into an argument with the tea vendor shortly after he turned up at his shop to buy fried egg, tea and bread. Peter reportedly refused paying for the bread which he claimed had a bitter taste.

The tea vendor who was angered by the deceased's refusal to pay for the bread, reported the incident to a nearby suya seller who stabbed him with a dagger.

Quote:‘’He paid for other food items except the bread. It was when he wanted to leave the place that the tea vendor signalled the nearby suya seller, who brought out a dagger and stabbed Peter to death.
‘’The police have contacted the leader of the Hausa community in the community and he has promised to produce the culprits" an eyewitness said.

A police source however told The Nation that the deceased was stabbed by the vendor in retaliation.

Quote:‘’The boy (deceased) was an alleged internet fraudster who had been arrested in the past by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). He went to the tea vendor’s kiosk to buy fried egg and was said to have refused to pay the man.
‘’ He took a stick and hit the tea vendor who insisted he must pay for the food. When the tea vendor could no longer bear the brutality, he motioned to his colleague who took a knife and stabbed the boy(Nwala) in the back leading to his death a few hours later at a hospital.
‘’Friends of the deceased then launched into violent attacks on Hausa traders in the neighbourhood but we quickly deployed our men there and restored normalcy. However, we are still looking for those who killed the boy and the police is engaging the leadership of the Hausa community in the area to ensure that peace reign and apprehend the culprits,’’ he added.

How Buhari’s Emissaries Met Sowore In Detention - Premium Times
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-30-2019, 09:59 PM - Replies (1)

Quote:Rather than direct immediate compliance with a federal court order that freed Omoyele Sowore on bail, President Muhammadu Buhari has instead been sending emissaries to the activist to extract commitment from him to back down on the ‘revolution now’ protest as a precondition for his release.

In at least two attempts now confirmed by PREMIUM TIMES, the president’s emissaries visited Mr Sowore where he is being illegally held at the State Security Service Headquarters to “negotiate for peace” in return for his freedom.

The Sahara Reporters’ publisher, however, rejected both attempts as extra-judicial and self-serving, saying he would not take part in any arrangement that would essentially lend legitimacy to unwarranted abuse of his fundamental rights and brazen disregard of judicial authority, people briefed on the matter told PREMIUM TIMES.

The development appeared the strongest indication yet that Mr Buhari is aware of the continued detention of Mr Sowore in defiance of multiple court orders.

Those who took part in the botched negotiation included Isa Funtua, a close political associate of the president; Sam Amuka, publisher of Vanguard Newspapers; Nduka Ogbaigbena, publisher of Thisday Newspapers and presidential spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu.

Infuriating dialogue’
Mr Sowore was arrested on August 3 for leading #RevolutionNow campaign — a series of nationwide protests he had planned with other activists to demand a better Nigeria.

He was first granted bail by a federal judge in September, but the SSS did not comply and instead took him before another judge to file duplicated charges against him. The second judge granted him bail under stringent conditions in October, which he eventually satisfied on November 6.

Both court orders were ignored and Mr Sowore remained in illegal custody of the SSS, a Nigerian domestic intelligence outfit under direct and absolute control of the president.

As calls mounted on the Nigerian government to respect Mr Sowore’s rights and obey court orders for his release, Mr Buhari hastily arranged a team to pressure the activist into an agreement that would see him abandon his #RevolutionNow campaign before he could be freed.

The first team included Messrs Funtua, Amuka, Shehu and Obaigbena, sources said.

“The first meeting took place in the office of SSS director of operations, ” a source told PREMIUM TIMES. “The group met Mr Sowore and said they came on behalf of the president to negotiate for peace.”

But Mr Sowore, a former student union activist who confronted military regimes and suffered attacks and persecution for it, “refused openly,” saying “all he wants is justice.”

Mr Sowore insisted he would not compromise his demand for a new Nigeria that works for all citizens, a defiance that shocked those present at the meeting, including Mr Shehu who led the team, another source said.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that members of the delegation were “infuriated” by Mr Sowore’s “refusal to dialogue” with them under the conditions outlined.

Mr Sowore’s firm repudiation of the president’s delegation also angered Yusuf Bichi, the head of the SSS, who subsequently ordered his continued detention while making him incommunicado.

Mr Sowore had threatened to inform his lawyer, Femi Falana, of Mr Buhari’s moves, leading the SSS chief to deprive him of all forms of contact with anyone outside the facility.

Contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Obaigbena denied ever being part of the delegation that met Mr Sowore.

But another member of the team, Mr Funtua, said, “I went to meet him (Sowore) with Sam Amuka, Nduka Obaigbena and some others. We were there for two hours to discuss with him that there was no need to be grandstanding with his lawyers.”

When asked to comment on SSS continued defiance of court order over Mr Sowore, Mr Funtua said he was aware of it, but that the state has nothing to lose.

“You cannot fight the government. You cannot fight the establishment. You cannot do anything to the establishment. But for an individual it is a different case and we do not want anyone to suffer for too long, that is why we are trying to find a solution to the matter.”

Another fruitless attempt was made to get Mr Sowore to back down on his agitation earlier this month while the president was vacationing in London, sources said.

“This one was led by Femi Adesina,” the source said. “Again, he refused to even see Mr Adesina, saying he cannot negotiate with them under any circumstances, especially since he has been granted bail.”

To further punish him for rejecting yet another presidential delegation, Mr Sowore was denied access to his letters and rarely allowed to take fresh air.

The restrictions were later briefly relaxed and Mr Sowore was able to speak with PREMIUM TIMES from custody on November 14. The phone with which he spoke with this newspaper was immediately seized even though it was given to him by the SSS which discreetly monitored his communications.

Shedding dilemma
Messrs Adesina, Shehu and Obaigbena did not return messages seeking comments from PREMIUM TIMES Friday morning.

Peter Afunanya, chief spokesperson for the SSS, also declined comments about the botched negotiation.

The previously unknown but concerted attempts to talk Mr Sowore out of #RevolutionNow campaign underscored not just the suffering of the Nigerian activist but the dilemma his illegal detention and remarkable display of courage have placed on the Nigerian government, said legal analyst Helen Okeka.

“The government is obviously having a sleepless night on this matter,” Ms Okeka told PREMIUM TIMES Friday morning. “It is not easy to attain a reputation of lawlessness, especially blatant and unprecedented disregard of court order.”

Mrs Okeka said the officials responsible for keeping Mr Sowore in custody in defiance of multiple judicial pronouncements on the matter are not oblivious of the potential consequences of their roles.

“They know that one day would come when they would have to face the music for this,” the lawyer said from Owerri. “There are some things you just cannot get away with, no matter how long it takes.”

Many Nigerians had suspected the government’s predicament from the controversial statements by the SSS on why Mr Sowore was still being kept in custody.

The statements, critics said, were so weak in law, logic and substance that many could not come to terms with the reality that they were issued by the country’s preeminent domestic intelligence outfit.

The efforts were repeatedly pushed as Nigerians took to the streets to compel the SSS to respect the country’s judiciary and stop seeing itself as above the law. Even though SSS operatives used force against activists and journalists who covered the protests, the demand for Mr Sowore’s release has intensified.

Internationally, protests were held in the United States earlier this week for Mr Sowore’s release to enable him to see his young family for the first time in several months. Nigerian professionals from leading institutions across the world also signed a statement calling for his release earlier this month.

Rights groups have asked the government to obey courts in Mr Sowore’s case, with Amnesty International designating him and two orders prisoners of conscience.

Earlier this week, United States lawmakers joined the calls for Mr Sowore’s release and warned that any attempt to further stifle the country’s civic space in violation of international treaties would not be acceptable to the international community.

The Buhari administration also faces a potential clash with the judiciary if Mr Sowore is not released before his scheduled court appearance on December 5 and 6.

Already, Ijeoma Ojukwu, the judge handling the case who granted him bail, has threatened to hold Mr Bichi in criminal contempt of court for defying her order.

It was unclear how the secret police would explain the disregard of the judge’s order to her. There are suspicions that the activist may not be produced again in court as was the case with Sambo Dasuki, erstwhile national security adviser being held since 2015 against court orders.

Exclusive: Family cry for justice as they accuse mobile police officer of beating to death their sister who was a sickler

A family is asking for justice after a mobile police officer allegedly beat their sister, who is a sickler, to death.

Ramota Okunola, a mother of three (two girls and a boy), died on Monday, November 25, 2019, and her family blames her death on their neighbour, a mobile police officer named Stephen Iwebuka.

According to members of the deceased's family who reached out to LIB, Ramota got into a fight with Stephen Iwebuka's wife on Saturday, November 23, at their residence at no. 40 Odeogbolu street, Ketu, Lagos.

During the fight, Ramota bit the lips of the wife of the mobile police officer. The police officer's wife was rushed to the hospital and was treated.

When Stephen Iwebuka returned home to hear that his wife had been bitten, he arrested Ramota and took her to Alapere police station where she was detained on Saturday 23rd and released on Sunday 24th after her husband paid N3,000 for the bail.

However, when Ramota got back to the compound, the landlord wouldn't let her in. Relatives of the deceased, who spoke to LIB, said this was based on the respect the others in the compound have for the mobile police officer because of his job.

The sisters of the deceased pleaded with the landlord and Ramota was later allowed into the compound.

The brother of the deceased claims the wife of the mobile police officer had warned that there will be trouble if her husband returns to find Ramota in the compound.

On Monday, November 25, Stephen Iwebuka, who had been away from home, returned to find that Ramota had been allowed into the compound. He then allegedly attacked her and flogged her until she became unconscious. The husband had tried placing himself between his wife and the police officer but he wasn't successful.

When Ramota lost consciousness from the beating, she was rushed to the hospital by her husband but she died on the way.

Stephen Iwebuka reportedly took his family and vanished from the compound after Ramota's death. However, on Wednesday, November 27, he presented himself to the Alapere police station.

The case was transferred to Panti police station on Thursday, November 28, and Stephen Iwebuka was also transferred there. However, when the husband of the deceased went to Panti, he was also arrested and detained.

The family of the deceased claims that Stephen Iwebuka was released from Panti on Friday, November 29 after a police officer, who is his superior, intervened. However, the deceased's husband was still in detention.

The husband of the deceased was eventually released later on Friday night after he had been threatened to change his statement, the family of the deceased say.

Now, Ramota's family fear the case is about to be swept under the rug because Stephen Iwebuka is a police officer. They claim all the neighbours who witnessed Stephen Iwebuka beating Ramota have now changed their story.

Ramota has been buried according to Islamic law but her family said those who washed her body before she was buried admitted that they saw marks on her breasts, showing she had been flogged.

The family of the deceased admitted that Ramota did wrong by bitting the officer's wife during their fight but they said she apologized. They added that officer Stephen Iwebuka knew that Ramota is a sickler, considering that he had helped drive her to the hospital when she was having a crisis, yet he was violent with her in a manner that her poor health couldn't carry.

They revealed that the husband of the deceased and Stephen Iwebuka have been asked to report back to Panti police station on Wednesday but they suspect justice will not be served.

According to the joke he made, he said that Nigerian women should be raped if they refuse to have sex on the second date.

Adamawa DPO’s fate uncertain as kidnappers insist on N20m ransom
November 30, 2019

Fate of kidnapped divisional police officer (DPO) in Adamawa State remained uncertain up to Saturday afternoon, as the kidnappers have insisted on a N20 million ransom, with family and friends nowhere near such a sum and the state police command insistent that it has no hand in ransom negotiation.

The DPO in Mubi North Local Government Area, Mujeli Ahidjo, was abducted on November 26 by gunmen who have been heard on video insisting on either being given complete N20 million ransom or they would kill the DPO.

In the video clip, the voice negotiating on behalf of the DPO’s family is heard saying he was sure the sum of N500, 000 had been raised, against which an apparently angry leader of the kidnappers replied that they were not jokers but were out for serious business.

The kidnapper asserted in the video, which must have been made earlier but went virile on Friday evening, “I must tell you that we are right now holding three people, including the DPO. The two other people will be released on Thursday. If you fail to pay the ransom of the DPO, we shall surely kill him.

“I will assure you that if N5 is missing from the N20 million ransom demand, you will only come to collect his dead body if you are lucky, otherwise you may not even see the dead body.

“Look for Aliyu his brother and whatever you discuss, let me know.”

The Thursday in question evidently meant November 28, but it was unclear as this report was being concluded Saturday afternoon what exactly was happening to the DPO.

The state Police Command spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who gave an update to our correspondent, indicated that the DPO was yet to regain freedom, and insisted that the police command had no hand in negotiation for ransom payment.

“The Command has deployed Operation Puff Adder and Operation Sarauter. They are now combing the bush, blocking all the exits and making all necessary efforts to see how they can free the DPO and apprehend the abductors,” Nguroje said.

LASTMA officer stoned to death during traffic sanitization exercise in Apapa

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olajide Oduyoye has condemned in its entirety the continued attack on the officers of the agency in the course of carrying out the function of traffic management which has been entrusted to them by a law passed by the State House of Assembly in the year 2000 and amended in the year 2018.

Oduyoye said this in the light of the murder of a LASTMA official, Ola Oyeshina who was attacked at about 5pm on Friday, 29th November during the course of sanitising Iganmu-Sifax axis of Apapa.

The General Manager disclosed that a large stone was thrown at Oyeshina. He was immediately rushed to Area "B" police station along with two of the people that attacked him, ACP Bayo Sulaimon thereafter ordered the detention of the two (2) attackers that were arrested while a letter of medical referral was issued for the victims attention at the hospital.

Oduyoye further revealed that owing to the trauma experienced, he (Ola Oyeshina) was immediately referred to LUTH from Randle Hospital, Surulere.

The LASTMA General Manager further revealed that it is unfortunate that the agency lost the young promising officer to the cold hand of death in the early hours of Saturday, 30th November, 2019.

He has therefore assured that the perpetrators of the dastardly act that were caught will be prosecuted in the court of law to serve as deterrent to other members of the public who may harbour committing such crime in future.

Quote:Oduyoye revealed that, "LASTMA was established to manage and control traffic in order to reduce the people's travel time on our roads, increase economic growth through increased productivity and ensure the populace safety and security, a situation where road users will now turn against any government official in order not to answer the consequences of breaking the law is unacceptable and would not be condoned henceforth".
Oduyoye emphasised that with the recent inauguration of a committee on war against traffic and environmental offenders, there is no more hiding place for Lagos residents or visitors that go against the law.

Unknown gunmen attacked some Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials travelling from Abuja to Lagos at Oshawa along the Lokoja-Okene highway at about 1:50 pm on Friday, November 29th.

The bandits killed the driver and left the other staff in the vehicle critically injured. A statement by Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, disclosed that the two personnel were ambushed by the gunmen after Zariagi on Lokoja – Okene road.

He said that the incident happened at Oshawa, a town close to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Quote:“The kidnappers, according to first information report, were said to have opened fire at the sight of the marked vehicle and unfortunately shot the driver in the head, killing him instantly.
“The vehicle subsequently lost control and veered off the road. It took hours before the rescue team could locate the vehicle in the bush and evacuate the victims,” he said.
He said the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, had expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family of the bereaved, the entire staff of the Corps and Nigeria for the death of the officer who lost his life in active service. Kazeem said the incident has since been reported to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate investigation.

Voters apathy mars Kogi West rerun election

 November 30, 2019
By
 John Akinfehinwa

The Kogi West Senatorial rerun Election holding across 53 polling units has been marred with voters’ apathy.

DAILY POST correspondent who visited some affected polling units in Lokoja where elections were cancelled reports that elections material arrived as early as 8am.

Some polling units visited included Paparanda Square, and Maigairi Palace.

Accreditation and voting are going on smoothly with the presence of security personnel and party agents.

Some electorates who spoke to DAILY POST on Saturday said some people decided to shun the process over fair of possible attack by suspected thugs as witnessed on November 16th.

A voter who never wanted his name in print said, ” You already know some of the reasons why voters decided to stay back at home. I’m here to fully all righteousness.

Last Saturday in Kogi was a theatre of war. We saw men in police uniform invading polling units to cause mayhem on the people and snatch ballot boxes.

“You are a journalist, you could attest to the fact that over five persons lost their lives here in Lokoja. As if that was not enough, we could attest to the fact that helicopter bullets in several places hit residents who are not even outside to cast their votes.

“So with this, nobody wants to come out and vote over the fear that he might be hit by bullet or get killed. I must tell you, this does not speak well for our democracy. If this continues, nobody will be willing to come out and vote in the future”.

It could be recalled that the rerun which first took place on November 16 was declared inconclusive by the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Olayinde Lawal.

According to him, the total margin between the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Smart Adeyemi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dino Melaye was lower than the number of cancelled votes in 53 polling units of the 20 registration.

Senator Adeyemi is currently leading with a total of 80,118 votes, while Senator Melaye has 59,548 votes from the seven Local Government Areas during the November 16 rerun

  Lagos Motorcyclist Defiles 6-year-old Daughter
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-30-2019, 02:00 PM - No Replies

A commercial motorcyclist in Lagos, Amarachi Chukwuneke, is currently cooling his feet in prison custody for reportedly sexually molesting his six-year-old daughter.

Chukwuneke, 43, was arrested by the police at the Festac Division, following a report by his neighbour in the Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

The suspect had separated from his wife and the victim together with her two siblings lived with him, City Round gathered.

It was learnt that the neighbour had observed the girl walking into the compound with uneasiness while returning from school on November 5, 2019.

The woman was said to have asked the minor the cause of her condition, but she was initially reluctant to speak up.

After the Good Samaritan persuaded her, she reportedly opened up, alleging that her father inserted his finger in her private parts and had sex with her.

Alarmed by the revelation, it was gathered that neighbours confronted Chukwuneke alongside with the child, who repeated the claim in the father’s presence.

The case was reported at the Festac Police Division and the father was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Unit at the police headquarters in Ikeja which charged him with defilement.

“On November 5, 2019, when the girl returned from school, a nieghbour noticed that something was wrong with the way she was walking and asked her what was wrong. After persuading her, she said it was her father who touched her bumbum (private parts). She said the father had been having sex with her,” a source said.

In her statement, the victim reportedly gave a graphic description of how she was molested by her father.

She stated, “Me and my brothers live with our daddy but we are always with our neighbour because my daddy does not give us food. Anytime we sleep, my father would touch my bumbum (private parts) and put his finger inside my bumbum. One day, he put the thing he uses to pee (urinate) inside my bumbum. I cried that day because blood came out and my daddy used water to wash my bumbum and begged me not to cry and that I should not tell anybody.”

Chukwuneke, who denied the allegation, said his daughter had complained to her some months earlier that she was feeling pains in her private parts.

He said he checked and saw that she was discharging some fluid, adding that he bought some drugs for her to use.

He added, “I got married in 2012 and we are blessed with three children. In June 2018, my wife left me because she got pregnant for another man in my hometown in Imo State.

“In August 2018, I travelled to the village and brought my children with me to Lagos. They were living with me until the girl complained to me that her bumbum was paining her.

“After I checked, I realised some fluid was coming out of her private parts. Thereafter, I went to see a chemist woman who gave me drugs. After she used the medication, it stopped. Later on, she complained about the same issue to me. I went to a nurse who also gave me some drugs for which I paid N500. She told me to buy a certain drug that will finally stop the symptom.

“On November 4, 2019, my daughter came to me again and said she was feeling pains in her private parts. I tried to look for money to buy drugs for her. The following day when I returned from where I went to get some money, I met some neighbours with her. They said my daughter told them someone had been having sex with her.

“My daughter was asked who had sex with her and she said I was the one. When I wanted to ask her the same question, my neighbours refused. That was how I was brought to the police station. I did not have any sexual intercourse with my daughter.”

A police prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, subsequently brought Chukwuneke before an Ogba magistrates’ court on one count of defilement.

The charge read, “That you, Amarachi Chukwuneke, on November 4, 2019, at 9pm, at Amuwo Odofin, Festac, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully defile a six-year-old girl by having sexual intercourse with her, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The defendant’s plea was not taken by the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. Sile-Amzat, who ruled that he should be remanded in prison while the case file should be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The case was adjourned till February 27, 2020.

Stop Using 12.5kg Cylinders As Camp Gas - Nigerians Warned
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 11-30-2019, 01:59 PM - No Replies

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has cautioned Nigerians to stay away from used gas cylinders because they are potential bombs waiting to explode.

The standard agency issued the warning following the seizure of five thousand imported LPG Cylinders that failed standards specifications.

Describing the cylinders as highly dangerous to use, it was noted that higher cylinder capacities like 12.5 kg and above can not be used as camp gas.

The continued usage of imported used gas cylinders is said to be responsible for the many avoidable cylinder explosions across the country which had led to wanton loss of lives and properties.

Those dealing in the LPG gas cylinders and accessories are being urged to abide strictly by the safety requirements in the relevant Nigeria Industrial Standards.

President Buhari and a possible third term agenda- Dele Momodu

Third Term: I can’t see how Buhari can tell us he wants to stay longer than 2023, after swearing by the Holy Koran - Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu in his weekly column 'Pendulum' writes about the rumours surrounding President Buhari and a possible third term agenda.

According to him, 'on a serious note, I choose to believe President Buhari on this occasion. I can’t see how he can come out in the open and tell us he wants to stay longer than 2023, after swearing by the Holy Koran. Besides as a Muslim he understands man alone cannot determine his tomorrow'.

Read the full piece below...

Quote:Fellow Nigerians, I don’t know about you, but I find the cynicism of many Nigerians very strange and sometimes distressing and depressing. If you’re a social media addict like me, you must have experienced the horror of reading some banal arguments on some platforms.
Believe me, it is no longer funny! No surprise that some wonder wonder legislator has decided that hate speech must not only be legislated out of existence but made a capital offence so that horrible death awaits the purveyors of such filth, not minding the constitutional guarantee of Nigerians to freedom of speech and expression.
Everywhere you turn, on the internet and even in the print and electronic media, you will be assailed and assaulted by all manner of conspiracy theories. We seem to have all become ‘doubting Thomases’. Just in case you’re not familiar with the story behind that popular phrase, let me regurgitate it here.
It is a Biblical tale that can be found in the book of John 20: 24-29. According to the account, Apostle Thomas was totally sceptical about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, after he was told by his ten other Apostles that Jesus had already appeared to them.
Thomas Paine, one of my favourite authors of all time, ironically, says the original Thomas was not a doubter but an unbeliever, suggesting that his was not a situation of doubt, but one of total disbelief. He went on to differentiate between the two in his seminal masterpiece, The Age of Reason. According to Paine, an unbeliever has no iota of faith or belief in him whereas a doubter still has some redeemable faith.

This scenario is what I think is playing out in Nigeria right now. Despite copious denials from the President and the Presidency about President Muhammadu Buhari’s lack of interest in elongating his stay in power by any means possible. If there is one thing I know the President does not joke with, it is his faith in Islam.

The President even swore by the Holy Koran that he will never go against the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by doing the unthinkable. Yet people are saying they don’t believe the series of denials emanating from his camp or even the Man himself.

One must ask why not a few Nigerians have refused to budge on the matter. As for me, I believe there is no way President Buhari can wake up tomorrow and reverse these public statements. I would be astonished to see which mouth he will use to tell us that he is under pressure, as some have suggested he will do, and that he has thus changed his mind and has decided to run again or simply extend his term of office.

To be honest, it will shock me to the marrow. Notwithstanding his foibles and weaknesses, I still cling to the belief that he is a man of honour and integrity, probably the last saint standing in Nigeria. I have thought long and hard about the possibility of him looking at us with a straight poker face and saying I want to contest again or stay for a little while longer.

The President may sometimes have a taciturn, inscrutable expression, but I doubt that even he could carry this one off without looking sheepishly guilty.
But the unbelieving Thomases of Nigeria have said they see Buhari contesting in 2023 or even thereafter despite the sporadic denials. Perhaps it is worth considering their uncharitable contentions. So, what are their arguments.

Possibly the strongest argument, is their claim that in fact we must take Buhari’s strident and passionate denials at no more than face level. They contend that Buhari’s saintliness would not be tainted or tarnished because he would not have broken his promise. He would not be breaking any Law or reneging on his words as long as he finds a way to change the Constitution.

Simply put, what the President had said was that he will never do anything unconstitutional, but not that he will never change or alter the Constitution and thus be acting unconstitutionally if there is tenure elongation or a third term or both added to the Constitution. Is it that some of us who see this as preposterous, nay impossible, are plainly naive or even stupid?

The unbelieving Thomases are pointing to their imaginary tell-tale signs. The first is that Buhari has refused to change the military Chiefs who have definitely overstayed their welcome and are certainly not as effective as to justify their being over-pampered by the State, thus depriving some of our young Turks the opportunity of demonstrating how they can positively change the narrative of our security challenges.

But I refuse to see any big deal. The President himself is a retired General of the Nigerian Army, one of the most accomplished soldiers Nigeria ever had. He definitely knows more about military strategy than most of us combined.

I believe we simply lack the competence and experience to challenge him on matters of security, even if his knowledge and experience were gained in yesteryears or what some have taken to describing as the dark and arcane days of the mid-20th century.

The unbelieving Thomases also point at the fact that the top security echelon of Nigeria comes from President Buhari’s part of the country and this can only mean that he feels he would need them to support him, by fire by force, one day sooner rather than later. As tempting as the argument might be, I still maintain my lane that our people are just crying wolves where there are none.

The unbelieving Thomases believe it is very easy to change the Nigerian Constitution now that Nigerians have been totally cowed by President Buhari and no one, including the tempestuous, fiery and usually vociferous Obasanjo who has gone funereally quiet, can dare stand to challenge the President. They reason that who will challenge Buhari if and when he decides to strike.

According to the doomsday apostles, Buhari now has a docile and pliant legislature on his side. He has practically tamed our hitherto robust and fearless judiciary. To cap it all, he has the instruments of the most fearsome and intimidatory enforcement agencies at his beck and call and the pen is no longer mightier than the sword. It is suggested that when these attack dogs are unleashed on an already battered and shattered citizenry their collapse into the waiting arms of a dictator potentate would be calamitously swift.

The unbelieving Thomases point at the spate of meetings and consultations going on almost on daily basis between the President and Nigerians from all walks of lives, including the military wing, serving or retired, political class, old or new, traditional rulers, relevant or not, and so many others. They are peeved at the fact that the President recently invited Speakers of all the State Houses of Assembly to Abuja, belonging to different political colouration and persuasion.

They point out that the State legislatures will be needed for any Constitutional amendment and they are just being sweetened for the dastardly act that is to come. Again, I don’t see any big deal. A President is usually the father of the nation and may decide to call on anyone for support in the face of the current tribulations ravaging the country. Indeed, the President must be commended for reaching out in this way.

The Man simply cannot win. Hitherto, he was accused of being insular and withdrawn, almost reclusive. Now that he is reaching out, people are seeing phantom plots and sub-plots! Nigerians!! I simply can’t see what is wrong in the President hosting people and ensuring he enjoys everyone’s cooperation and collaboration in the turbulent times that we face.

The unbelieving Thomases see these meetings as precursors to a hidden agenda that will ultimately snowball or metamorphose into a political conflagration when events begin to unfold at the speed of light. Call me stupid, but I don’t see how this is possibly feasible, now or ever.

True, most members of Nigeria’s political class lack principle and courage, but if the unexpected is tried by Buhari, it may ignite an unexpected reaction that may lead to even opposing forces coming together to face him squarely. Buhari knows this fact very well, that the seeming docility or obvious reticence of Nigerians is more tellingly dangerous than their open loquaciousness. An animal backed to the wall is most dangerous running back to face his attacker!

Still the unbelieving Thomases insist the President is not the sort of person to waste unnecessary time and resources on bringing a deluge of fat cats into Abuja without having a serious and sinister motive. They argue that the President knows what he is doing, and that he is certainly not so jobless or just seeking good company in a gilded cage. I’m unhappy that we have become so angrily divided that all we see are frightening apparitions attributable to our wild imaginations.

The unbelieving Thomases  think the matter of the supposed ostracisation of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is a powerful message to would be aspirants that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock villa and that whosoever is nursing any such ambition should urgently perish the thought.

Osinbajo is seen as an unwilling and unwitting pawn in the game of politics and may not be disturbed for as long as he stays in his track without as much as a whimper, otherwise, he would be squashed and resampled underfoot like a pesky pest! Nobody seems to care that this is far from the truth.

I am assured, and the President and the Vice President have taken great pains to guarantee us that the relationship between Buhari and his Deputy has never been stronger than it is now and that the trust and camaraderie between them is solid and unbroken.

On a serious note, I choose to believe President Buhari on this occasion. I can’t see how he can come out in the open and tell us he wants to stay longer than 2023, after swearing by the Holy Koran. Besides as a Muslim he understands man alone cannot determine his tomorrow.

There are supernatural forces at play. Man can only propose but God is always the one to dispose.

The unbelievers should calm down, especially, now that APC has publicly disowned a rascal who went to court seeking extension to Buhari’s stay in power. If I had doubts before, that was a clear indication that certainly, neither the President nor the ruling party is in cahoots with strange and mindless bedfellows with phantasmagorical ideas that may be running riot in their brains.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its Constitution.

Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro has blamed Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio for making donations to nonprofit organizations that he claims are behind some of the fires in the Amazon rainforest.

Back in August, Earth Alliance, an environmental group co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio, made a donation of $5m to help combat the fires that destroyed large parts of the Amazon rainforest.

But Speaking on Friday, November 29, Bolsonaro told supporters: 'DiCaprio is a cool guy, isn't he? Giving money to set the Amazon on fire.'

His comments comes after a police raid at the headquarters of two nonprofit groups in the Amazonian state of Para. According to Police, they are being investigated for allegedly igniting fires to obtain funding through nonprofits.

I will never get married or have children - Actor Olu Michaels

Nollywood actor, Olu Michaels has shared his lifelong decision of never getting married or having children.

In an interview with The Nation, the 48-year-old actor disclosed that he is scared of getting married. He also said it is too late to have kids even though his parents have been pushing him to get married.

Quote:“I’m not married, and I don’t intend to. Truth be told, I’m scared of marriage and I don’t think I will ever get married. .
.
Though, I wanted to have kids when I was younger but not now, it is too late. Why I said it’s too late for having children is that I am a workaholic and I don’t  like a situation where I would want to sleep and then a baby starts crying. My parents have been begging me to get married but no" he said.

On what he looks out for in a woman, Olu Michaels said;

Quote: “I am a jealous man. For example, if I marry an actress and I see her kissing another actor on set, I will never tolerate such. Also, if I marry a beautiful woman, I might never concentrate on my work because I will be on the look to protect her."

He also opened up on what he does whenever he feels lonely at night. Olu Michaels said he drives around his Mercedes Benz which has a lovely interior and sleeps off on it whenever he feels lonely.

Quote:“What I do every time I feel lonely is that I have a car that I bought with all my money. It is a Mercedes-Benz and the interior is wow. I love it. I just drive round town and get home and sleep off" he said.

Nigerian man, Yusuf Buhari, sues estranged wife for changing children’s school without his permission

A Nigerian man, Yusuf Buhari, has filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife, Hadiza Muhammad, at the Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, for changing the school of their two female children without his consent.

In the court papers filed by his counsel, Sani Shehu, Mr Buhari claimed his estranged wife took his two female children to her parents’ house and changed their school from the one in which he had enrolled them without his consent. Buhari also told the court that for six months, his estranged wife has refused to grant him access to see his children.

He asked the court to order her to take the children back to the school “in which their father enrolled them and also, to take the children back to their father’s house, as they still remained husband and wife.”

In her defence, the estranged wife through her counsel, Adam Hassan, told the court that Islamic laws permitted a woman to take her children with her wherever she was going.

Quote:“If she is taking her children with her to a safe place, not a long distance from their father, it is allowed by law; even though they had little misunderstanding, she is still his wife,” the counsel said

The judge, Murtala Nasir, after listening to both parties, adjourned the case till December 6.

Alison Madueke Autobiography: ‘Riding The Storms With God In My Sails’

I told Diezani not to bring money home Husband

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, lost her ability to speak and subsequently fell into a coma due to the complications of the cancer she had, her husband has said.

Diezani’s husband, Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (retd.), said this in his recently published book titled, ‘Riding the Storms with God on My Side’.

Madueke, who is a former Chief of Naval Staff, said towards the end of the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2015, Diezani was diagnosed with cancer and had to be flown to London for treatment.

He said, “On Sunday, July 26, 2015, I stepped into my bedroom soon after our brunch to find that my phone was ringing. It was my mother-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Agama, who was staying with Diezani while she was undertaking treatment. She was sobbing and only managed to inform me that my wife was no longer talking.

“I was in London by 5.30am the following day, Monday, and went straight to see her. Diezani was in a coma. I called an ambulance that arrived 20 minutes later, the attendants bearing a stretcher. They had to get a wheelchair since the lift could not take the stretcher.

“In less than 10 minutes, we were at the emergency intensive care unit of the Harley Street Clinic. Her doctor, Prof. Paul Ellis, a top oncologist, was out of town and had to be recalled.

“Three days later, when Diezani finally came out of the coma, she saw me by her bedside and asked what I was doing in London. She had reacted badly to her Friday chemotherapy treatment. Thank God she pulled through that nightmarish incident and is now fully recovered.”

The retired naval officer said unfortunately, while his wife was severely ill, her condition became an issue of politics.

Earlier in the book, Madueke said when Diezani accepted a ministerial appointment in 2007, he told her not to focus on money but maintain the good name of the family.

Madueke, who served as military governor of Imo and Anambra states in the 1980s, said he initially did not want his wife to take public office having only become the first female director of Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria and had a great career.

The former naval officer said, “When finally she was appointed Minister of Transportation, I took further time to advise her on the topic of self protection and self preservation in the bureaucracy.

“I finally recited the advice my father had given me upon my appointment as military governor. “Go do your best, don’t bring back money, but bring back my name”

“Later in that administration, she was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources, a position she held until the Peoples Democratic Party lost the 2015 Presidential election.”

On how his wife was appointed a minister, Madueke said shortly before the inauguration of President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2007, he was approached by the then Vice-President-elect, Goodluck Jonathan.

Madueke said Jonathan pleaded with him to allow Diezani to take up a job as minister as there were very few persons of Bayelsa origin who had her impressive resumé.

“Why I Left Islam To Become a Pornstar”- Woman Reveals

[Image: Capture1-tile-3.jpg?fit=770%2C411&ssl=1]

A lady on Twitter identified as Jade Jordan has revealed how she left religion to become a pornstar saying that it did not speak to her and how she also stopped wearing her Hijab which she said she wore from when she was 3 years old to when she was 20.

She shared her story on Twitter also sharing throwback pictures in which she was wearing a Hijab. She added that she will make a YouTube video soon chronicling her journey.

She revealed that her household was a strict one and therefore she didn’t feel free.
Her series of Tweets read:

Funny fact: I was actually born and raised a MUSLIM (I’m not Muslim anymore BY CHOICE). My real name is said in the video. You have to watch it to find out what it is.

I wore a hijab from age 3 up until age 20. I stopped in 2014 when I stopped being Muslim. A few months later, I started doing porn. Here are my baby and I I got rid of all my yearbooks because I used to be so heartbroken that I used to be apart of something that brought me so much pain, but I’m in every yearbook from my old school wearing a scarf.

I need to get my genealogy done. I was born in America though. My parents are hardcore religious fanatics. So growing up it felt like I lived in another country.

Wasn’t interested anymore. Didn’t speak to me. I didn’t feel connected to it.

Gonna make a youtube video talking about my journey from MUSLIM to PORNSTAR in a few days. In the meantime, here is a pic of me from high school…

People pirate my manyvids videos, but I’m not mad. Hubby used to pirate software and entire studio albums back in the day. It’s unfortunate business-wise, but I know y’all don’t have money. I grew up in a transitional home, so I get it. I’m still doing DMCA takedowns though!!!!

I’m happy we get to share the experience of being free and truly being ourselves with people who are important to us. Our supporters mean everything to us. I have never been so happy. Thank you!

London Bridge terror incident: Suspect shot dead by police, two victims dead and five people injured

One person was killed and a number of others injured in a terror attack near London Bridgetoday before the suspect was wrestled to the ground by passersby and shot dead by police.

The suspect, who police say was wearing a fake suicide vest, was killed after police were called to a stabbing incident at premises near the bridge shortly before 2pm on Friday, November 29th.

Two people who were injured in the London Bridge stabbing attack have also died according to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick. These deaths are in addition to the suspect who was shot dead, she added.

Graphic footage posted on social media appeared to show civilians wrestling with a person lying on the ground at the northern end of the bridge, before they were pulled to safety by armed police arriving at the scene. The man, dressed in black, then appeared to try to rise, before firearms officers fired two shots. Police confirmed he died at the scene. It is believed that he was acting alone.

One man wearing a suit appeared to have removed a large knife from the suspect. There is serious concern about the condition of one of those injured.

Boris Johnson paid tribute to those involved in ending the attack and said “anybody involved in this crime and these attacks will be hunted down and brought to justice. As soon as we can provide further updates on their condition we will,” Neil Basu, assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan police, said in a statement outside Scotland Yard.

“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to everybody who’s been involved in this and is anxiously waiting for information on their loved ones. As soon as we can get that information we will get it to you.”

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said later that no one else was being sought over the incident. Due to initial reports that the suspect might have had an explosive device, wide cordons were in place to ensure there was no further danger to the public, Basu said.

The national terrorist level was lowered from “severe” to “substantial” earlier this month. One witness who was on a bus going over the bridge said she thought she saw a “stab vest or some sort of explosive vest” worn by the person lying on the bridge.

23 Nigerians, one Frenchman sentenced to 7 years in prison for sex trafficking in France

23 Nigerians and one Frenchman said to be members of a Lyon-based sex trafficking ring, have been handed a prison sentence of up to 7 years by a French court after being found guilty of forcing Nigerian women into prostitution.

One of Europe's most wanted woman and Edo-born fugitive, Jessica Edosomwan accused of being the head of the sex trafficking ring which recruited women from Nigeria was sentenced in absentia.

AFP reported that 35-year-old Pastor Stanley Omoregie who claimed he only wanted to help the people in his community was also handed a prison sentence.

The convicts were arraigned in court after over 17 women who made up to 150,000 euros ($166,000) a month for the syndicate by selling sex in vans parked by the side of the road for as little as 10 euros filed a complaint against them.

It was gathered that over half of the 24 defendants present were women below 35-years-old and suspected of being the “mamas” of the network, in other words, pimps.

Man doused estranged wife with gasoline and set her on fire for refusing to reconcile with him

A 23-year-old woman is fighting for life after she was set ablaze by her husband in Ban Pheung,  Muang district of Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, for refusing to reconcile with him.

It was gathered that the man identified as Uthen, 26, doused his wife Maithong, with gasoline and set her ablaze after putting her in a headlock.

Maithong is barely alive in a hospital in Udon Thani. She has burns to almost 100% of her body and is in a comma in ICU.

Uthen was also burned but is out of danger. He is still recovering in the same hospital.

According to the police, the couple had been together for 3 or 4 years but broke up some months ago after repeated arguments. They have a one year old son together.

The husband went to the wife's house after she refused a reconciliation. Police said there was no doubt about his intentions as he brought the gasoline with him.

On Thursday, November 28, women and children's rights activist Paveena Hongsakul went to visit the wife in hospital in Udon.

Relatives had complained to her after the case did not move forward.
However, Police on their part said they are waiting on what happens to the wife before proceeding.

An aunt of the wife named Sripraphai, 48, said that the suspect and her niece had split up and he had tried many times to get back together with her but she was not interested.

She said that Uthen arrived on a motorcycle and immediately threw down his helmet in a rage. He then got his wife in a headlock and doused her in gasoline and set fire to her.
It all happened so quickly relatives could do nothing to stop it, she said.

Instinctively the wife got up and ran to the bathroom where relatives helped to extinguish the fire on her clothes.

There were still bits of clothing and evidence of the fire at many spots in and around the house.

Pay attention to poverty not social media — CAN slams National Assembly over social media and hate speech bills

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has waded into the controversy ignited by the social media and hate speech bills sponsored by some lawmakers in the national assembly.

In a statement released by Samuel Kwamkur the national director of legal and public affairs of the Christian association, CAN President Samson Ayokunle stated that the bill which has generated fear in different parts of the country will be of no good to Nigerians.

Ayokunle who insisted that the existing laws are strong enough to deal with cases of hate speech added that the bills appear to separately seek to gag Nigeria’s citizens from speaking out freely.

Quote:“These two bills have generated so much misgivings and criticisms that they have led to uncommon tension and fears among Nigeria’s Citizens.  This is doing no good to the fears and apprehension of the citizens already on ground as a result of insecurity, deplorable infrastructural amenities and the general welfare of the people,” he said.
“Having looked at all sides to the debate, CAN is calling on the National Assembly, particularly the President of the Senate and all distinguished Senators to discountenance the two bills and put off completely any contemplation to pass them into Acts of the National Assembly as sincere lovers of the nation.
“The bills, in the general view of majority of Nigerians, and in ours too, appear to separately seek to gag Nigeria’s citizens from speaking out freely, but responsibly on matters that affect their lives in all spheres. This, to us, is an ill wind that will blow nobody any good
“The Penal Code, Criminal Code, Cyber Crime Act and other legal provisions on crimes that deal with hate speeches, defamation, libel and similar offences are clear and strong enough,” Ayokunle added.
“In this wise, we desire that governments at all levels and indeed members of the National Assembly pay greater attention to the issues of insecurity, economic hardship, poverty, bad roads, poor education and the dearth of infrastructure.
“We, therefore, call on our governments to respect the sanctity of the Nigerian Constitution and other extant laws and provide for all Nigerians a better nation to live in.”

FG orders sack of unqualified teachers before December 31

The Federal Government has reportedly ordered the sack of unqualified teachers before December 31 as confirmed by Prof. Segun Ajiboye, Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) on Friday November 29.

Prof Ajiboye who disclosed this at the induction of over 200 education graduates of the University of Ibadan, said it is expected the sacked unqualified teachers will be replaced with qualified and certified education graduates.

The TRCN Registrar stated that Nigerian teachers now have a separate and unique career path with the recent approval of teachers’ career path by the National Council on Education. He however added that teachers found wanting in the code of practice will be sanctioned.

Quote:“It is worthy to stress the importance of today’s induction ceremony in line with government directives. The Federal Government has directed that by 31st of December 2019 all unqualified people practicing the profession of teaching would be swept from the classroom and their place would be occupied by young and vibrant professional teachers like you.
“We need to appreciate the fact that education unlocks the door to modernisation but the teacher holds the key to that door. Teachers are the hub of any educational system and the major determinant of its quality. This is so because teachers are saddled with the responsibilities of translating educational policies into practice and programmes into actions. Therefore, my dear inductees you have a big role to play in changing the pendulum of affairs in your places of service" he said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 30TH NOVEMBER.

DON’T GO IN THEIR DIRECTION

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

Our opening verse is a strong admonition for us to distinguish ourselves as God’s people and live an excellent life. Don’t live like the rest of the world; follow Christ.

There’re people who inherit bondage and darkness; they’re going to go in the same direction as their natural parents, towing the same line of anger. But if you’re born again, never allow such in your life. Tell yourself, “I’m a new creature in Christ; anger has no place in me.”

If as a Christian, you find that people say you took after your grandfather in certain uncomplimentary behaviours, don’t just shove it aside. Consciously use the Word of God to culture and reprogramme yourself.

Remember, in Matthew 23:30, the people said they’d never be like their fathers who did wicked things; but Jesus said to them, “Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city” (Matthew 23:34).

They didn’t believe the words of Jesus, but they did exactly the same thing their fathers did. But thanks be unto God! Through the Word of God, our minds can be transformed to go in the way of Christ; the right direction only.

Stay focused on the Word. You have a responsibility now that you’re born again to make sure your life is as the Word says. Let the Word have dominion over your mind, your spirit, your thoughts, and over your opinions.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the transforming power of your Word. Your Word has gained the ascendancy in my life, and as I meditate therein, I’m transformed into the image of the Christ, living the glorious life of righteousness that you’ve ordained for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

22-year-old woman gang raped and shot dead in South Africa, her brother thrown out of a moving taxi

A hitchhiking trip from job interviews in Johannesburg turned tragic for two siblings when one was gang raped and shot dead while her brother was thrown off a moving taxi.

Kwanele Fezile Zuma and Ngceboyenkosi Minende Zuma, both 22, from Carolina in Mpumalanga took a taxi back home late on Monday, after they both went for interviews in Johannesburg.

A bruised Ngceboyenkosi told Sowetan on Thursday,  that because it was late, they could only get a taxi that goes as far as Emalahleni, about 110km away from home. They then had to hitchhike to Carolina.
"We both attended our interviews on Monday morning. When we were done, we headed home because Kwanele had to go to work the next day as she was a general worker at a mine in Carolina. The taxi [from Johannesburg] dropped us off in Witbank and we hitchhiked. Another taxi with several men inside stopped to give us a ride. I then realised that the taxi was taking a road to Ogies and before I could ask any questions, one of the men hit me with a gun in the back of my head. They threw me out of the moving taxi," said Ngceboyenkosi. He said he blacked out and only woke up in hospital the next day, where he was told that Kwanele was dead.
"I am unable to walk, hence I'm on this wheelchair. Doctors say my spinal cord is injured."

The siblings' brother, Sanele Zuma, said Kwanele was raped by the men before being shot in the head.
"We waited for them until 10pm [on Monday]. We thought they were stranded. The next morning, our other brother and my elder sister went to tell her manager at the mine that she won't be coming to work. We went to the police to report that my siblings were missing; and at around 10am, we got a call that they have been found and were in hospital. But when we asked Ngceboyenkosi about Kwanele, he told us that he last saw her in the taxi before he was thrown out," said Sanele.

Provincial police spokesperson Brig Leonard Hlathi said they were investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and possible rape.
"They were robbed of their belongings...," said Hlathi.

Kwanele's mother Margaret Zuma said she was hoping that her daughter would find a better job so that their finances could improve. Kwanele only started working at the mine last month.
"I'm very hurt about this. When she went for this interview I thought she would take us to greener pastures ... but I didn't know that going to this interview would lead to her death."

Gert Sibande mayor Muzi Chirwa visited the family yesterday and said they would help the family with funeral arrangements

American woman's boobs rot away following botched plastic surgery in Colombia

Lyndsay Colosimo, 38, has opened up about the horrifying moment she was left on the brink of death after having a botched tummy tuck and boob job abroad.

In a bid to “feel confident” for her 40th birthday, the Florida resident forked out $10,000 for a cheap boob job in May scheduled for Colombia that would have cost $35,000 in a US hospital. Unfortunately, the cheap alternative ended up costing her more as she claims she had to part with a total of $40,000 after the boob job went wrong.

Days after the surgery, the flesh around Colosimo’s wound and her nipples began rotting, and her skin turned black.

She is now warning others about the dangers of having cosmetic surgery abroad following her harrowing ordeal.

“I regret it so much. I went there to feel confident and now I feel embarrassed,” she said.

Colosimo first decided to have the surgery in Colombia after two of her friends went to the same clinic and claimed their results were “amazing".

“I had a tummy tuck in the US in 2012 and I wasn’t happy with it and wanted it revised with a bum lift,” Colosimo said.

“When I got to the clinic, I was advised on a breast reduction and lift too — something I have always wanted but it wasn’t my priority.

“I decided to have both but I did worry as I felt as though it was too much surgery at once, but you trust the professionals.”

Colosimo was in surgery for five and a half hours before she woke up and everything began to go wrong. Describing the aftermath, she said:

“When I woke up, I didn’t feel right and a doctor was nowhere to be seen. My legs felt numb and I began vomiting uncontrollably. It was the worst pain of my life.

“It continued for a few days and I could see a black spot under my bandage, but I was told it was dried blood and not to worry by medics. I knew in my heart it wasn’t as I was getting worse by the day. Eventually, I saw what was under the bandage and 30 percent of my nipple was black.”

Colosimo claims she was diagnosed with necrosis — dead cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury, or failure of the blood supply — and that her nipple and milk duct was surgically removed three weeks after the initial surgery.

What was supposed to be a 20 day stay in Colombia turned into 32 days as she claims there were further complications.

“I had open wounds on my breasts as the implant pocket wasn’t big enough — it is like the incision was made for a C-cup and DD was shoved in,” she said.

“My skin started breaking open, it was terrifying to see. I had a fever and continued to show signs of infections and was encouraged to walk around whereas usually people are told to rest after surgery.

“My stomach began to fill with fluid and puss would seep out of my belly button and massage therapists were sent to my hotel room with razor blades to cut open the incisions and massage the fluids out.

“This is unsanitary and hotel rooms are not sterile environments. Massage oil is also not good near open wounds — I ignored all the red flags as I was desperate for it to make me feel better.

“Unfortunately, I am more educated after the events rather than before. I researched the clinic and seen amazing results with my own eyes, but I didn’t see any of the bad.”

On her return to the US, Colosimo was taken straight to the hospital and claims doctors found an E. coli infection in her breast and told her revision surgery was needed on her stomach.

Following this, she required a wound vaccination weekly and a doctor to change her bandages daily. She was finally discharged from their care on November 20.

Speaking about the traumatic experience, she said: “I was seeking perfection but now I look back and realize I was good enough. Before surgery, I wouldn’t wear a bikini and now I won’t even wear a dress or leave my house. I thought I would feel liberated after, but I feel ashamed. I shared my story on social media to prevent other women going through the torture I have been through.”

Aisha Buhari Insists On Social Media Regulation Bill
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-30-2019, 08:17 AM - No Replies

The First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari has called for the regulation of social media, noting that China with about 1.3 billion people had done so, stressing that many people could not visit their villages on account of fake news broadcasts.

She also berated state governors for failing to provide basic social amenities and infrastructure.

She said that things were getting out of hand, saying that her husband alone cannot handle the challenges facing the nation and admonished the political leaders to work together to bail the country of out of the challenges. She spoke on Friday at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) General Assembly and National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the National Mosque Abuja, with the theme, “Islam and National Development”.

She said, “On this issue of social media, you cannot just sit in the comfort of your house and tweet that the Vice President has resigned. It is a serious issue. If China can control over 1.3bn people on social media, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot attempt controlling only 180m people.”

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo while formally declaring the conference opened, admonished Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper regardless of their religious affiliation, as all Nigerians are equal. He stated, “It is my view that the weight of ensuring that this country is on the right track is on our leaders. We should be our brother’s keeper no matter the religion. We should always be ready to make sacrifices for one another.

We have religious and tribal tension in this country. Many are beating the drum of ethnic and religious war. We are at a historic juncture of our nation.”

The NSCIA President-General and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III in his opening remarks, said the nation must come together to address its challenges, insisting that girl-child education and the Almajiri phenomenon must be addressed urgently.

He also disagreed with the calls for social media regulation, stating that there were laws to deal with the abuse of the platforms. “I have received so many calls on the need to regulate social media. In Nigeria, there are so many laws that can deal with this issue. “Some people even proposed having a hate speech law.

We must accept the outcome of whatever the people decided. After all, people voted for our political leaders. Let us listen to the voices of the people. It is important for us to do the wish of Nigerians,” the Sultan said.

Former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has hailed the impact of Joe Aribo who inherited his number ten shirt in the senior national team of Nigeria following his retirement from international football.

Mikel quit the senior national team of Nigeria after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after leading the team as captain to a third place finish at the tournament. They lost 1-2 in the semi-final to eventual winners Algeria.

Coach Gernot Rohr handed the number ten shirt won by Mikel who inherited it from Austin Okocha to Joe Aribo and the Rangers of Scotland midfielder has so far impressed with two goals to his name from four games for Nigeria.

Aribo according to Mikel only took his shirt number but his playmaker role in the team was inherited by Alex Iwobi right from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

” Congratulations to the team they have done well in my absence although I have always insist that they can cope without me. I like the man who took my number Aribo but many people don’t understand that Alex Iwobi is the player in my role”, Mikel told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Iwobi started playing that role from the 2019 AFCON and I have been impressed with how he has settled in properly. We all know he is a good player so it’s no surprise that he has done well so far”.https://www.footynaija.com.ng/2019/11/iwobi-is-my-rightful-replacement-not.html

Insta Keto i struggled to get over 1,200 calories. For my intention of one,800 calories, i fell brief almost every day. That's enough of a calorie deficit to produce weight loss, even with out the low-carb depend. I came down with "keto flu." the "keto flu" is a time period you'll see on keto blogs and boards. For me, it turned into a very actual event, but now not all people will revel in it.

Not less than four persons were allegedly killed in Nsadop and Isobendeghe communal war in Boki local Government area of Cross River State.

DAILY POST gathered that, of these numbers allegedly killed, three were farmers that were reportedly abducted with one new brand motorcycle taken away while one was said to have been shot dead while the war lasted.

The three farmers abducted, our findings revealed were working in a farm belonging to a Bekwara man and were abducted in the farm by suspected members of Nsadop community while a brand new motorcycle was also taken.

Speaking with our Correspondent via phone on Friday, the Chairman of Boje Community Development Association, Chief Charles Kembre said, “For some time now there had been this problem between Nsadop and Isobendeghe”
He said that two days before the war, suspected members of Nsadop community destroyed farm lands belonging to Isobendeghe and a day after, three persons were abducted in the bush in Boje.

“The kidnapped victims are from Benue State, others from Bekwara local government area and Mbube in Ogoja local government area of Cross River. We have strangers working in our farms. The kidnapped victims were working in a farm owned by a man from Bekwara..

“The war was inside the forest in which one person was killed and four others sustained bullet wounds and they are receiving treatments at various health facilities in the area,” the Chairman stated.

Chief Kembre, however, commended President Buhari for deploying soldiers to the war torn communities of Nsadop, Isobendeghe and Boje, “We appreciate President Buhari for the deploying Soldiers to the three communities with intention to secure them permanently.

“We are very grateful to the soldiers for guarding the communities, the problem between the communities had lingered for so long without response, hence our most grateful to President Buhari whose action had made the Governor, Prof Ben Ayade to react swiftly and now we are safe” he stated.

When contacted, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nkereuwem A. Akpan said, “We should not deceive ourselves, the crisis between the communities had been lingered for long, in fact it a perennial one, until the elites come together and embrace peace and love, the issue will continue to linger.

“We are going back to the area by next week to seek a lasting solution to the crisis; we shall put our efforts to ensure that peace is returned. But in the interim, we have witnessed peace as we have deployed security operatives to the area” he said.

You can’t stop EFCC from investigating you – Court tells El-Rufai

 November 29, 2019

The Federal High Court, Abuja, says Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, cannot stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating him.

Justice Binta Nyako said this while delivering the judgment, on Friday, in a suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/60/09 filed by El-Rufai.

The governor was seeking the court’s determination whether as the then Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), he had complied with the guidelines approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the sale of Federal Government houses between May 2005 and May 2007.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while El-Rufai was the applicant, the defendants from 1st to 13th include: EFCC, FCT minister, FCDA, AGF, CBN, Oceanic Bank, Access Bank, Intercontinental Bank, Aso Savings and Loans Ltd, Union Homes, Akintola Williams Deloite and Aminu Ibrahim & Co.

In the originating summon brought pursuant to Section 302 of 1999 Constitution and Section 3 and 18 of the FCT Act 1990, El-Rufai also sought court’s determination: “whether the proceeds of the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT between May 2005 – May 2007 were properly accounted for or not in accordance with the FEC mandate and guidelines to the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA).

“Whether the sum of N32 billion (or any sum whatsoever) is missing from the proceeds of the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT between May 2005 and May 2007.”

The Kaduna State Governor also sought the court’s relief on “a declaration that the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT was conducted in accordance with the Federal Executive Council mandate to the FCTA through the Ad hoc Committee for the sale of non essential houses in Abuja.

“A declaration that the proceeds of the sale of the said Federal Government houses conducted by the Ad hoc Committee on SOGH in Abuja between 2005 and 2007 were properly accounted for in accordance with the mandate and guidelines approved by the FEC.

“A declaration that the Audit Report prepared by the 12th and 13th respondents on the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT confirm that the Sale of Federal Government houses in FCT compiled with the approved guidelines for the sale of Federal Government properties in FCT and the proceeds were properly accounted for.

“A declaration that the proceeds of sale of Federal Government Houses in FCT between May 2005 and May 2007 were properly apportioned and accounted for in accordance with the approved guidelines as confirmed by the Audit Report of the 12th and 13th respondents, dated July 20, 2007.

“A declaration that the sum of N32 billion (or any sum whatsoever) from the proceeds of the sale of Federal Government of Nigeria Houses in FCT between May 2005 and 2007 is not missing.

“An order directing the 2nd respondent to disclose the exact amount remitted to the 5th respondent as the proceeds of the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT between May 2005 and May 2007.

“An order directing the 5th respondent to disclose the exact amount received from the 2nd respondent as the proceeds of the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT between May 2005 and May 2007.”

NAN recalls that Justice Nyako had earlier, in her judgment, granted El-Rufai’s prayers.

However, in the Friday judgment, the judge noted that the EFCC had called the court’s attention to its counter-affidavit in objection to the prayers.

The anti-graft agency, in its counter-affidavit, had submitted that the motive of the applicant was to stop the commission from investigating him in order to cover up the alleged fraud perpetrated when he was FCT minister.

Justice Nyako, who held that the earlier judgment delivered still stands, however, declared that no court would stop the EFCC from investigating anyone in line with its constitutional mandate.

“No court, including this one, will allow itself to be used to shield anybody from being investigated by the 1st respondent,” the judge held.

When A Lady Begs A Man To Have Sex With Her (Photos)

Quote:It's not often that one hears stories or sees a lady try to force a guy to have sex with her.

When a lady begs a man to be intimate with her or forces a man, it is seen by some as weird.

A young lady has got people amazed online after she was seen begging a man to be intimate with her. But the man refused to yield to her sexual urge.

She later resorted to force.

Another handsome Nigerian man, Uche shared his bitter experience with his ex girlfriend who raped him. He recounts:

"When my ex overdosed on crack and passed out naked on my bed while she was begging me to sleep with her, when she woke up she threatened to jump off a 3 story building if I didn’t take her back, the next week she met me at a mutuals house and attacked me with 3 of her friends

Then she tracked down the new girl I was dating at the time and attacked her with a knife, stalked me till I stopped sleeping at my house. And then at a mutual friends party she slipped drugs into my drink and raped me.

Guy all this was in Ebonyi and she attended the same church as both of us, you probably know her."

What do you think of such incidents?
