TRAGEDY struck in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Friday when a mini bus otherwise called ‘Akoto’ crushed three pupils of a private school to death.

This incident occurred on the day the primary and secondary school students vacated for Christmas and new year’s festivities across the state.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 pm at Ilokun area along the busy Ado-Iworoko road.

It was gathered that the pupils were killed by a vehicle, which was coming from Ekiti State University (EKSU) and ran into them when they were about crossing the ever-busy Ado-Iworoko- Ifaki highway.

Three of them were said  to have been killed instantly, while others sustained injuries.

An eye-witness said the accident was caused as a result of recklessness on the part of the driver of the bus.

The source said: “The driver of the bus drove recklessly and ran  into the pupils who were returning home from school.

“The dead and the injured were taken to Ekiti State University, Teaching Hospital. It was a sad incident as families of the deceased converged to weep profusely over the loss of the children”.

When called for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, Mr. Sunday Abutu could not be reached as his mobile phone was switched off.

Abutu’s counterpart in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mohammed Olowo, said the Command has not been briefed about the sad event.

According to the Edo State born Entertainer, she is not only deeply in love with this guy, she is also ready to settle down with him if he proposes.

“Yes. It is one of my best kept secrets but I want to get it off my mind. I have been hiding my relationship for a while but my boyfriend has refused to hide it and I really love him. The truth is, I am dating a guy 10 years younger than I am. Our love affair started in a studio. He was so confident and I loved his voice. At first, I thought it would just be for fun but I grew to deeply feel something for him.

“Right now I am ready to marry him if he proposes. I love his energy, his vibe. He is so much fun. An older person would be more serious and less fun but my Morien is full of life. He is adventurous and serenades me right after he pisses me off,” she gushed.

How is she enjoying sexual intimacy with a ‘small boy’, the controversial Instagram celebrity says: “At first it was a bit awkward but I don’t know, I guess, age is nothing but a number. Trust me. There is nothing small about him down there; he is huge!”

Meanwhile, while addressing the rumours that her parents disowned her for smoking weed with the Bible, Etinosa laughed it off.

She said: “That’s a big lie. The thing just tire me. The blogger also said my mum was ill. God forbid! My parents didn’t find it funny because they are pastors. They were pissed-off! In fact, it was because of them I tendered the apology just to make them happy,” she asserted.

FG trying to over-localise university system with IPPIS – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused the Nigerian government of trying to over-localize the university system in the country through its insistence on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

ASUU's President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi who spoke with newsmen after a meeting with members of the union at the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi (FUAM), stated they are in the age of internalization and it would be an anathema for them to allow government to over localize the university system.

He said;

Quote:“What they are trying to do in Nigeria is to over-localize us (ASUU) but universities are international learning and research environments. We are now in the age of internationalization.
“That is why people talk about global ranking of universities, they don’t talk of local ranking of universities. So, it would be an anathema for us to allow government to over localize us. To buy into IPPIS means we are surrendering the autonomy of the universities which is highly cherished all over the world."

Biodun stated that their members are ready to face the Federal Government head-on if it goes on with its threat of not paying its members salaries following their refusal to enrol in the IPPIS.

According to the ASUU President,  getting back into core civil service would not augur well for the education at the tertiary level as universities are meant to be governed by their employers – the Governing Councils and not the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

He added;

Quote:“The employers of universities academics are their governing councils and not the Head of Service. Universities are not part of civil service and there is nowhere in the world where such practice as they are trying to impose on us in Nigeria obtains.
“And we have sited this example before. In Ghana at some point, they introduced IPPIS but later they excluded the universities because they know it would not work."

North Korea dares President Trump, says it has conducted another 'crucial missile test'

North Korea has confirmed that it conducted another test at a satellite launch site on Friday, December 13th to bolster its strategic nuclear deterrence.

According to North Korean state media outlet KCNA, the test was conducted at the Sohae satellite launch site, citing a spokesman for North Korea’s Academy of Defence Science, without specifying what sort of testing occurred.

It was the second such test at the facility in a week. KCNA on Sunday said that North Korea had carried out a “very important” test on December 7th at the Sohae satellite launch site, a rocket-testing facility that U.S. officials once said North Korea had promised to close.

The reported tests come ahead of a year-end deadline North Korea has put forth for the United States to drop its insistence on unilateral denuclearisation.

Pyongyang has warned it could take a “new path” amid the stalled talks with the United States. The top U.S envoy for North Korea is set to arrive in Seoul on Sunday for meetings with South Korean officials.

Analysts said such tests could help North Korea build more reliable intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

Tension has been rising in recent weeks as Pyongyang has conducted weapons tests and waged a war of words with U.S. President Donald Trump, stoking fears that tensions between the two countries could return.  Stephen Biegun, U.S. special envoy for North Korea, will arrive in South Korea on Sunday, Seoul and Washington said on Friday.

Man Butchers Lover, Sells Parts To Herbalists, Clerics For N1000 Each (picture)

Quote:[Image: herbalists.jpg]

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested an herbalist, who allegedly killed his lover and sold her body parts to different herbalists, Muslim clerics and pastors for ritual at the rate of N1000 per part.

IRT Operatives, led by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Abba Kyari, have arrested 13 herbalists so far involved the butchering and selling of the victim’s body parts, while many others are still at large.

Our reporter learnt that the tracking and eventual arrest of the suspects in different parts of Ogun State would not have been possible, if not for the active participation of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson and his men in the investigation, which stretched into weeks.

The prime suspect, Segun Olaniyi, claimed that the victim, Abosede Iyada, was his lover. He also admitted orchestrating her murder for money making ritual.

Operatives launched investigation into the case on November 15 following a letter of complaint from Abosede’s parents, Mr and Mrs Segun Adeyemi, residing at Plot ‘2’ Adio Idris Close, Oke Oko in Ifo Local Government Area. The complaint was lodged at the IRT office, Ogun State Annex.

According to the distraught parents, Abosede, married and mother of a child left her husband’s house in the morning of that fateful day to visit Olaniyi popularly known as “Agba Isegun,”a native doctor at Ifo area.

Since then Abosede appeared to have disappeared into thin air. Attempts to call her phone were abortive as it remained permanently switched off.

After the operatives launched investigation into the disappearance of the woman, they started tracking her phone and that of Olaniyi.

Olaniyi was tracked and arrested in Abeokuta area of Ogun State. During interrogation, he claimed that he and Abosede were lovers, that she came to visit him on November 15, but that on arrival at his place, he and his friends, Fagbon and AY, who were desperately in need of money, abducted and took her to a secluded area, where they butchered her and sold her body parts to interested buyers within Ogun and Lagos states.

It was gathered that following Olaniyi’s confessions, the operatives moved to Abeokuta and different villages like Ifo, Itori Papalanto and Adigbe area where 11 suspects were arrested.

Among those arrested, eight confessed to kidnapping and killing and buying of the body parts of the victim. The number of those arrested soon swelled to 13.

A source said: “Abosede and the prime suspect were secondary school lovers. They later parted ways and married other spouses. We understand that Abosede had been having series of problems with her husband, who is a commercial motorcycle rider. Somehow, she reconnected with Olaniyi, who is now an herbalist.

This reconnection with Olaniyi came after 15 years apart. Olaniy, the herbalist was perceived as being rich. He used to give the deceased N2000 every day. She soon started going to visit him and soon, both of them started sleeping together. She would tell her husband that she was going to work, she would go to the suspect’s place.

“She had earlier told the suspect to help her to become wealthy. So on that fateful day she came, Olaniyi told her to go to the stream with his two friends to strip and bath her hair. She went with them; they held her down inside the stream and stabbed her to death. They then brought her out and deboned her before selling her flesh for N1000. One of the herbalists arrested told us that Olaniyi uses charm placed on his tongue to speak to the victim, which made her to obey and do whatever he asked her to do.”

Those arrested in connection with the killing and buying of Abosede’s body parts are; Segun Olaniyi (42), Ayodemeji Adileye (25) aka AY, also known as the human being butcher, Babalola Akanbi (48), Adeifa Sogbeyinde (37), Rasaq Arabs (27), Sunday Akinyemi (41), Adewole Olwafemi (38) aka Pastor, Mustapha Ajibola (31) aka Alfa, Mustapha Iliya (30), Shilola Amodu (38) aka Alfa, Jamiu Abass (25) , Smooth Kazeem (37) aka Alfa and Adesola Oduyemi (56).

The IRT Operatives recovered substances confessed by the suspects to be burnt human parts of Abosede. Some of the substances were in powdery and liquid forms.

Daily Devotional for Saturday 14th December

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 14TH DECEMBER.

BE FOCUSED

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed (Isaiah 50:7).

God wants us to set our hearts on His Word and not be distracted by circumstances, experiences, or adversity. It brings to mind the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 119:69 (MSG): “The godless spread lies about me, but I focus my attention on what you are saying.” Also, Romans 4:19 (MSG) says, “Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, ‘It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.’ Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up.”

In the New Testament, the Bible talks about Jesus in Luke 9:51: “And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.” Why was His face set steadfastly on His destination? He knew that was His last visit to Jerusalem, and this time, it was for His life; He was going to the Cross to die for the sins of the world, and He wasn’t going to let anyone distract Him from it.

In our world today, there’re so many distractions, but you must remain focused on the dream, the vision, that the Lord has put in your heart. Have a tunnel-vision towards God’s agenda. It’s the way to win. Many years ago, the Lord said to me, “Son, don’t look around. Be focused; refuse to be distracted.”
Some Christians have found themselves being distracted by too many things.

They’re distracted by the state of the economy and several other happenings around them. They can’t accomplish much in life that way. When you’re a man or woman of purpose and vision, you’re not perturbed about the economics or economies of this world, because you know that you’re not of this world.

Nothing in, and of this world can place a limit on you or cause you to be disadvantaged, because you won before you came. You were already a success before you started. Therefore, set your sail and rule your world.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the high calling with which you called me in Christ Jesus. My eyes are on you, the author and perfecter of my faith. I don’t see shadows; I’m walking in your perfect will and destiny for my life, victorious all the way, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Prophet Sunday Adelaja for defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old Junior Secondary School 3 student.

Adelaja who defiled the girl twice, is reportedly married to two wives and also the pastor of a white garment church in Iwaya, Ijebu-Ife community of the state.

Recounting how the incident occurred, the girl said the randy pastor lured her to his house with claims of asking her some questions while her parents attended a meeting at the palace of the community’s traditional ruler in June 2019.

She also disclosed that she was accosted by the pastor again one week after the first incident, while running an errand. According to the secondary school student, he took her to his house and had sex with her again.

The 16-year-old girl who said the pastor threatened her and also told her to make herself available whenever he needs her, said a medical test conducted on her after her mother noticed changes in her body confirmed she is pregnant.

The incident reportedly led to an attack on the Pastor's church by angry youths of the community as confirmed by a representative of Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network of Nigeria, Mr Adeyemi Akin-Akala.

Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the secondary student is 5 months pregnant and also disclosed that the investigation is still ongoing.

Imo Speaker promises to give $10,000 to anyone who can travel to Italy to verify authenticity of his academic certificates

Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Dr. Chiji Collins has promised a $10,000 reward for anyone who can travel to Italy to verify the authenticity of his academic certificates which has sparked off controversy in the last few months.

Several groups have called on the speaker to come out clean on claims of bagging a Doctorate Degree from Universita degli Studi di Reggio Calabria. According to the different political groups, Chiji Collins was conferred with ‘Laurea di Dottore' from the Italian institution, the basic for which he affixes Ph.D to his name. They however stated that it is misleading as the Nigerian equivalent of Laurea di Dottore is a Bachelor Degree and not doctorate in rank.

The Imo House of Assembly Speaker who increased the money from $5,000 he earlier promised to $10,000, affirmed that he attended one of the best institutions in the world which has trained notable individuals including Dr. Richard Agbarakwe, a renowned medical practitioner.

Collins urged his critics and opponents to sheath their sword and embrace peace while pointing out that no Nigerian University is rated among best 100.

Chairman House Committee on Information and Judiciary, Dominic Ezerioha also denied claims of members of the committee having cold feet in investigating the certificate scandal the Speaker is enmeshed in. According to him, investigation will soon be concluded and the committee's report will also be submitted.

There is nothing evil about us - Ogboni Fraternity

Chief Francis Meshioye, leader of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF) dispelled claims of them being evil at the flag off of 2019 Founders’ Day Celebration in Lagos state.

Meshioye disclosed that the  fraternal institution was founded in 1914 by a Christian, Deacon Jacobson Ogunbiyi and the initial objective was to promote Christian values among the people.

The leader of the group who disclosed that the group was expanded to accommodate people of other faiths hence the change in name from Ogboni Fraternity to Reformed Ogboni Fraternity, stated that founding fathers of ROF were part of those who fought for the decolonisation of Nigeria, developed such establishments as the civil service, judiciary and many functional post-colonial institutions.

Francis Meshioye debunked claims of the fraternity being for people who are seeking for easy and quick wealth and also urged members of the public who are of good character to join. He listed some known members of the group as late Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, late Chief Ladoke Akintola and late Sir Adeyemo Alakija.

He said;

Quote:“We are far from being a secret society; we are a registered entity that abides with the laws of the land and our objectives are to promote positive values, truth, justice and cultural heritage.
”The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF) has the ultimate objective of promoting good values, love discipline, not only in Nigeria but in other parts of the world wherever her members finds him or herself.
”There is a clear distinction between ROF as a fraternity and any other forms of organisations.
”Our fraternity compels her members to imbibe the fundamental injunction of ”do unto others as you wish others to do unto you ”
”However, the fraternity had to overcome many challenges that were rooted in misinterpretations of what we stand for."

PDP mocks Akpabio, says he withdrew to avoid another defeat

The People's Democratic Party has reacted to Senator Godswill Akpabio's withdrawal from Essien Udim Local Government Senatorial rerun election after securing a rerun win in court.

Recall that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State stated that he can't abandon a critical national assignment placed on him by President Muhammadu Buhari in pursuit of a rerun election.

However commenting on Godswill Akpabio's letter in which he urged the All Progressives Congress national excos to submit a replacement to run in his place, the PDP stated that the the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs withdrew from the senatorial race to avoid another defeat.

The opposition party maintained that the only way the APC can substitute a candidate is ''if the incumbent candidate dies a physical death, not a political death as that currently witnessed.''

The statement partly reads;

Quote:“Some days ago, our party, like other members of the reading public, saw a letter infixed in the headed paper of Senator Godswill Akpabio attempting to convey the purported withdrawal of the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress candidate in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
“Our response to that joke taken too far is that the rerun is a court ordered election to complete an earlier started electoral exercise, which by the judgement of the court has been declared inchoate. The only way the APC can substitute a candidate is if the incumbent candidate dies a physical death, not a political death as that currently witnessed.
“Senator Akpabio was a party before the court and the order of the court is that he should go back for a rerun in Essien Udim- that’s an order of the court and as a lawyer, he should obey that order and submit himself for confirmatory defeat.
“The purported withdrawal of the Senatorial candidate is a clear face-saving attempt by Chief Akpabio, in a bid to avoid a recurring defeat by Senator Chris Ekpenyong, whom he had earlier boasted was not a match for him. But like it’s common knowledge, pride goes before a fall. Senator Ekpenyong Defeated Chief Akpabio in 8 local government areas with a large margin of more than 38,000 votes-which is Akpabio’s present nightmare.
“On the funny claim that he has a patriotic task to perform at the Federal Executive Council as Minister, which is why he wants to withdraw from the race, the question is, when did he realize this duty which he claims he owes the Niger Delta? Why did he not withdraw before the Appeal court judgment? If the Court of Appeal had granted the reliefs he sought for, would he have still withdrawn?
“Our party seriously frowns at the clowning attempts by Senator Akpabio to derail the electoral process in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, as we have on good authority that he intends to use the judicial process to prevent the conduct of the rerun, by institutions court actions to compel INEC to accept his purported withdrawal- this suit he intends to drag up to the Supreme Court if he loses. Senator Akpabio, who once boasted that he couldn’t lose an election should have been excited as he was earlier, to show the world that he cannot lose an election in his local government area. Why is he afraid of going for an election in his native Essien Udim?”

Brandin Cooks had chances to make a play. Again Big And Tall Nicholas Scott Jersey , he didn’t. And again, he lost the Super Bowl. The Rams wide receiver lost the final game for the second straight season, after being with the Patriots last season. He suffered a concussion early in that loss to the Eagles, and was unable to make a pair of plays which could have helped the Rams.Cooks was close to a pair of catches in the end zone, but didn’t come up with either one in the 13-3 loss to the Patriots.“I just got to make those plays,” Cooks said From China Nicholas Scott Jersey , via Josh Katzenstein of the .He did have eight catches for 120 yards, but it’s the ones he didn’t catch that will haunt him. In the third quarter, he was wide open in the back of the end zone, but because Jared Goff was late seeing him, Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty had time to break up the pass. They settled for a field goal on that drive. In the fourth quarter, another was broken up by safety Duron Harmon in the end zone. Goff was picked off on the next play by cornerback Stephon Gilmore.“It was one of those bang-bang plays Ndamukong Suh Jersey ,” Cooks said. “Harmon came over the top. I’m great enough to make that play, and I still got to make it no matter what situation it was, to be honest.”It’s hard to say it was his fault as he was nearly the one Rams offensive player with a creditable performance. But being so close, again, will hurt. How young is Sean McVay? The Rams coach, who turned 33 this week Brandin Cooks Jersey , is nine years younger than Tom Brady, 13 years younger than Adam Vinatieri and half the age of Bill Belichick. He is four months older than Julian Edelman.McVay is so young that he played against Edelman in college.Kent State, quarterbacked by Edelman, won the 2006 meeting against Miami of Ohio. Edelman completed 14 of 22 passes for 244 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while running for 61 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. McVay caught four passes for 47 yards and added a two-point conversion.A year later, the RedHawks beat Kent State with McVay catching three passes for 37 yards. Edelman threw for 260 passing yards and rushed for 93 yards but scored no touchdowns and threw two interceptions.Edelman has no memory of playing McVay.“Honestly Aqib Talib Jersey , I don鈥檛 [remember], but it was pretty cool to see some footage. It was cool,” Edelman told reports in Foxboro on Friday.Edelman has nothing but respect for McVay the head coach.“It鈥檚 very remarkable. He鈥檚 a stud,” Edelman said. “He鈥檚 my age, and he鈥檚 leading an organization to a Super Bowl. It鈥檚 unbelievable, and it鈥檚 a testament to how much he knows the game Marcus Peters Jersey , how hard he works. I love seeing it. He鈥檚 a MAC guy. You know that coach McVay and that coaching staff is going to have that team ready, and we鈥檙e going to have to take advantage of the preparation time that we have and get ready, too.”

US House panel approves two articles of impeachment against Trump, impeachment vote to hold next week

The US House Judiciary Committee has just approved two articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump.

The articles, which include two charges- Obstruction of congress and Abuse of power, will now go to the House floor for a vote next week, a move thay could make Trump only the third president in US politics history to be impeached by the House of Reps.

All 23 Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee voted to approve the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump while all 17 Republicans on the committee voted against the articles, making this impeachment move as divisive and partisan as ever.

Trump's impeachment move is as a result of a July phone call with Ukraine's president Zelensky where he allegedly asked the Ukraine president to investigate his political rival Joe Biden while he held on to military aid meant for the East European nation.

Trump, the Republican party and the Ukrainian government have denied Trump pressured Zelensky but Democrats have continued with the impeachment push even though they know Trump will be cleared by the Senate.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Republican from Texas, called it a “a sad day for the country" after the House Judiciary committee voted to approve the articles of impeachment.
“I really hope and pray the Senate will not just pick it up and dismiss it. America needs to hear from the witnesses, and we didn’t get to hear from them here. This was a kangaroo court,” Gohmert said.

Actress and former SoundCity presenter, Juliet Mgborukwe has said she will rather be a single mom than show her children an unhappy marriage.

The actress shocked Nigerians in July 2018 when she announced she and husband Chima Ojukwu were separating for the second time. She accused him of domestic violence and shared photos and videos as proof.

It was messy as Chima also made some allegations of his own and they both went ahead to air their personal affairs on Instagram.

Today, Juliet has shared a photo with a baby girl and they were both twinning.

She captioned the photo: "I'd rather be a single mom than show my children an unhappy marriage."

Recall that in 2018, Juliet announced plans to divorce her husband Chima Ojukwu.

Mgborukwe and Ojokwu got married in October 2011 and separated in 2012, just a few months after their wedding ceremony. At the time, Juliet said the marriage had ended over ''irreconcilable differences".

In 2014, after lots of communication between the couple, they decided to give their marriage a second chance which made Juliet move to the US to start afresh with Chima Ojukwu.

In 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy and in 2017 they welcomed the second child, a baby girl at a hospital in the US

Fast forward to 2018, Juliet decided to finally dissolve the union with claims of domestic violence.

KANSAS CITY Cameron Erving Jersey , Mo. — The even-keeled executive with the crisp suit and winning smile stood inside the mostly empty Kansas City Chiefs locker room, his team having just won a home playoff game for the first time in 25 years. He talked about how much it meant to their long-suffering fans. Spoke glowingly about coach Andy Reid and his young superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. He praised the rest of a team that captured its third straight AFC West title before knocking off the Colts in the playoffs. It wasn’t until Clark Hunt was asked about winning the AFC title game that he became emotional. You see, the Chiefs were founded by his father, the late Lamar Hunt, who, along with seven others in what would be called “The Foolish Club,” founded the American Football League. The personable Texas businessman’s importance to establishing the modern NFL was honored in 1984, when the league renamed the silver trophy awarded to the winner of the AFC championship game the Lamar Hunt Trophy. So it’s easy to understand why his son, now the team’s chairman and the most visible face of the ownership family, would have tears in the corners of his eyes at the thought of holding it for the first time with a win over the New England Patriots on Sunday night.“It’s been a long time coming,” Clark Hunt said. “Since Andy came here we’ve had a lot of shots Demetrius Harris Jersey , but we finally have a chance to win the AFC championship, and to do it at home is so special for us.”The Chiefs have never played an AFC title game at Arrowhead Stadium. They won at Buffalo to reach the first Super Bowl, and at the New York Jets and Oakland on their way to their lone Super Bowl triumph, over Minnesota, in 1970. Then came the NFL-AFL merger and the advent of conference championship games, of which Kansas City has played in only one, a loss at Buffalo in January 1994.Indeed, the opportunity to return to the NFL’s biggest stage for the first time in 49 years has been a long time coming. The Chiefs lost eight consecutive postseason games during one maddening stretch, and squandered the No. 1 seed along the way. They had great individual players — Tony Gonzalez, Priest Holmes, Joe Montana — yet never managed to hoist the AFC championship trophy.Former coach Dick Vermeil, who took the Eagles to the Super Bowl and won it with the Rams Mitchell Schwartz Jersey , said this week that “my biggest regret” was failing to deliver it during his five seasons in Kansas City.“It would be great. I mean, when your name is on it, that’s a pretty big thing,” said current Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who still remembers meeting Lamar Hunt during an ownership meeting years ago.Hunt died in December 2006 at the age of 74.“To have the opportunity to work with his kids and Clark in particular, I understand the importance of that,” Reid said. “Not that he has to tell me. He doesn’t have to say anything.”In fact, the Chiefs make sure everybody knows the importance.“One of the awesome things we do with our player development team is that they take us through the whole history,” Mahomes said. “We come over to the museum that we have in the stadium and they take us through how he made the AFL, pretty much from scratch, and had this vision for what is now the AFC and combined it with the NFL and made this beautiful league.“It truly is special for someone like that who has created your franchise,” Mahomes added. “You want to do whatever you can to bring honor to him and that family.”The Patriots are no strangers to hoisting the Lamar Hunt Trophy De’Anthony Thomas Jersey , of course. They are playing for it for the eighth consecutive season, and the coach-quarterback combination of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady has succeeded in hoisting it eight times since their first real season together in 2001.But despite a perennial juggernaut standing in the way, there is a profound sense of confidence that surrounds the Chiefs these days, an unabashed optimism that can be felt all around town.Fountains are colored red — at least, those that haven’t frozen — and Chiefs banners hang off many of the city’s iconic buildings. Fans are streaming into Charlie Hustle, a local vintage clothing store, for their “Arrowhead Collection” of shirts. Those who aren’t making a buck off the Chiefs’ playoff ride are spending a buck to support them, or in many cases several hundred bucks. The stars are quite literally aligning: There is a “super blood wolf moon” due Sunday night, where the sun, Earth and moon line up and the moon is cast in a rusty (Chiefs-like) red tint. The fan fever is not unlike the way the city embraced the Royals when they made back-to-back World Series appearances in 2014-15. And when they won the 2015 championship, some 800,000 turned out for the parade.Imagine how many would show up if the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.“It means a lot just to make it to this point Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Jersey ,” said Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, one of the team’s elder statesmen. “I’ve never had this opportunity, so I think it will mean a lot to me, to (the Hunt family) and to the city.”Yes, the Hunt family.Clark Hunt knows better than to plan for parades before games are won. The Chiefs have come up short many times, and the sting of those disappointments still lingers after all these years. Yet the franchise is also on the precipice of something great, a potential salve to make that pain go away.“It’s very special, obviously, for our entire family,” Hunt said. “It’s one of the goals that I always put out for the players at the beginning of the year. First thing we want to do is win that Lamar Hunt Trophy. Then we want to go to the Super Bowl and win that Lombardi Trophy.”100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj MehtaChiefs injury report ahead of Thursday night’s game against Packers Starting right guard Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and cornerback Steve Nelson cleared the concussion protocol and returned to practice on Monday afternoon, as the Kansas City Chiefs began preparations for Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers.Andy Reid typically holds out most of his starters for the fourth and final preseason game, and that once again seems like the plan headed into Thursday. Here is who won’t practice Monday Ron Parker Jersey , according to Chiefs PR: CB Step Durham (hip)DL Justin Hamilton (ankle)S Eric Berry (heel)Daniel Sorensen (Knee)Though Monday marks the 16th consecutive day of Berry being held out of workouts, we’ve now reached the part of the preseason where if there is any question, it’s smart to be cautious. The key day to watch when it comes to Berry is Wednesday, September 5, the first day of practice for the Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. If Berry is held out of practice on that date, the Chiefs officially have a bigger problem on their hands than they have wanted to let on.

Police PR officer, Dolapo Badmus has finally unveiled her daughter's face.

Recall that she recently gave birth to a baby girl and has taken to instagram to announce the good news to the world.

In her words:

“I faced my fear and my fear feared me! My baby Anike Aliona with her natural lace wig….she’s the latest addition to my family! Does she really look like me?!”.

The beautiful and elegant looking police officer who is the zone 2 police public relations officer (PPRO) is well known for condemning both fraudster and whoever supports fraud.

She’s also popular for dissing Naira Marley in the most subtle way. Some time ago, she took to Instagram to state that the only “Naira” she knows that exists and stands legal is the Nigerian currency, and that any other thing that has the “Naira” attached to it is fake.

She just welcomed a baby girl and friends have taken to instagram to celebrate her on the birth of her daughter.

EDTShareTweetShareShareKevin Colbert discusses the ever important debate: To trade, or not to trade for the Steelers?Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsIn the Steelers pre-draft press conference on Monday, General Manager Kevin Colbert addressed the issue of moving around in the 2019 NFL draft. “We always get asked questions about the trade up and trade down. You know we’re always going to be open to either. Our scouts, the pro guys, will be making their calls starting today to visit with the teams. We talk about it informally throughout the spring T. J. Watt Jersey , but you never really get firm answers because we don’t know what we’d be trading up for and teams don’t know what they’d be trading away from.”To sum up his thoughts, Colbert explained when a draft trade would take place. “Until you actually get on the clock, those things will not happen in any great detail.”Colbert went on to explain the process for the Steelers making their selection at #20 and if they want to stay put. “We’re just going to pick them as we pick them. It’s a very simple process. We’re going to have 20 guys and we’ll know exactly how we’re going to pick them. We’ll determine that on Wednesday and have that final approach. It’s one through 20. We’re not going to vary from it. The only thing we’ll vary is whether we’re going to trade up or trade down. There’s really no guessing to it after Wednesday. We’ll know the 20 guys we’re picking in specific order on Wednesday afternoon and when we get to Thursday night that doesn’t change. The only change is trade up or trade down.”As for what it would take to trade down in the draft, Colbert explained what would happen to keep their pick. “We’ll identify a group of players that we wouldn’t trade away from no matter what. If they were available to us at 20 and someone came to us with picks, we’ve already determined that we’re taking that player.”As for determining what value it would take to trade up or what the Steelers would want in return for trading down, Colbert explained why they don’t always go along with what most teams believe. “We don’t use a chart. We know other teams will use a chart Jerome Bettis Jersey White , and we know when we call them that they are going to say it doesn’t match our chart value. That’s fine. They can do that, but in our minds we have to spend what we want to spend if we want a certain player. And we have to demand if teams are trying to trade up to us we don’t follow a chart. We know what they’re saying and that’s up to them, but we’ll make up our own values.”If you were to read between the lines of what Kevin Colbert was saying about using chart values, the Steelers are aware of what it would take to trade into certain positions. It appears the Steelers plan to use that knowledge along with what they would be willing to give up in a trade in order to determine when they can be serious about making the move if the right player is available. Colbert also addressed the issue of moving in the second or third round. “In a given draft, and I think this is one of those drafts, where you can feel real good about players you are getting in (rounds) two and three years. There’s a good number James Conner Jersey White , so that may drive the price down in our opinion.”Colbert also explained how he values picks which could be used to package a deal. “I always try to put a name to the face. So we’ll throw in a seventh. Wait a minute, you’re throwing in Brett Keisel. We’ve got to be careful about that.”Whether or not the Steelers make a move on draft night remains to be seen. to attempt to move around at some point over the course of the seven rounds if the right situation presents itself. So get your popcorn ready...If you missed the press conference live, you can watch it in its entirety below: Sean Davis joins Mike Hilton as yet another recruit to theRosenhaus Sports Representation roster of NFL players this offseason"With Sean Davis entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, there is a good chance that the front office will approach him about a new contract this offseason. But for those hoping for a simple negotiation, the safeties decision to switch agents earlier in the week should be a signal that coming to terms on a new deal might not be so straightforward after all. As per Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , Davis has now signed with Rosenhaus Sports Representation (RSR).The move marks a significant upgrade in the player’s representation in terms of the client list that he is now a part of, led by one of the most famous names in the business in Drew Rosenhaus. Leaving MBK Sports, a firm that boast just eight current NFL players as clients on their website, Davis will now be represented by a much bigger agency with more than 10 times the number of players on their books.Davis is not the only Pittsburgh player to sign with the same company that represents former Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown this year, with cornerback Mike Hilton also signing with the firm a few weeks ago.Joining RSR should not necessarily be seen as a sign that Pittsburgh will have anywhere near the same issues they had with Brown or even protracted negotiations, but it should be an indication that the Steelers will not be getting away with any under market value offers either.

2018 Patriots roster cuts: New England keeps Jason McCourty Youth John Hannah Jerseys , J.C. Jackson, Keion Crossen on its 53-man roster Over the course of the summer, cornerback established itself as arguably the most competitive position on the New England Patriots’ roster. Multiple players were fighting for spots on the team behind roster locks Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe and second-round rookie Duke Dawson. It now looks like three of the team’s offseason acquisitions have made the cut and will start 2018 on the team via multiple reports:The Patriots added McCourty via trade earlier this offseason, invested a day three draft selection in Crossen, and signed Jackson as an undrafted rookie. Now, all three will compete for playing time on the Patriots’ 53-man roster.McCourty has shown positional versatility over the past two preseason games and will be able to serve as a depth option at cornerback and safety John Hannah Jerseys Stitched , while both Crossen and Jackson had some very good moments during training camp and the preseason. The New England Patriots lost the coin toss but started perfectly into the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team went 80 yards on 15 plays to not only take eight minutes off the clock but also take a 7-0 lead — you can’t wish for anything more from the visitors’ perspective, especially considering that the series was an impressive one all around.New England used a heavy dose of the running game to control the clock and tempo, converting three third downs along the way. The drive was capped by the Patriots’ impressive rookie running back Sony Michel:Michel had seven carries for 32 yards on the opening series and the score above, as the Patriots made it pretty clear from the start that their intentions were to play a ball and time control game against a Chiefs defense that has struggled to stop the run this season. After the touchdown, the Patriots defense took the field and added to the impressive play, allowing just one first down — on a holding call — before taking down Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for a 14-yard loss on 3rd and 10 to force a punt.New England had another impressive drive after the punt but saw it end with an interception by Tom Brady on 3rd and goal from the 1-yard line. The Patriots played some impressive defense early on, but gave up a 42-yard deep pass from Patrick Mahomes to Tyreek Hill in the second quarter. However Infant Joejuan Williams Jersey , defensive edge Trey Flowers made a huge sack to push the Chiefs out of field goal range.Kansas City punted the football back to New England and the team’s offense delivered another impressive series: the Patriots marched 90 yards in eight plays — the biggest of which a 30-yard screen pass to James White — to add seven more points to their total. This time, it was wide receiver Phillip Dorsett:Catching his third touchdown in the last three games, Phillip Dorsett put the Patriots up 14-0 while simultaneously helping take the crowd even further out of the game. While the Patriots played a terrific first half, the team struggled in the second and had to watch the Chiefs come back into the game. After scoring a field goal, New England allowed Kansas City to score two touchdowns to take a 21-17 lead midway through the fourth period. However, the Patriots struck back and Sony Michel converted a fourth down to give the team the lead again:The game was far from over, though. The Chiefs took another lead with 2:03 left in the game before New England once again marched down the field to go up — with Rob Gronkowski making the biggest play of his season at exactly the right time:One play after Gronkowski’s massive 25-yard catch to convert a 3rd and 5 Joejuan Williams Jersey Draft , the Patriots were in the end zone again:This time, it was Rex Burkhead’s turn to find the end zone and to give New England a 31-28 lead with only 39 seconds left on the clock. However, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs did not go without a fight and drove into scoring range yet again. A field goal tied the contest and sent it to overtime, where Tom Brady and company marched the length of the field — converting three third downs in the process — to set up this Rex Burkhead touchdown runTongueatriots 37, Chiefs 31 in one of the most thrilling AFC Championship Games in recent memory.

Key was a slender 6-5, 238 pounds when the Raiders made him their selection in the third round of the 2018 draft. He was known for having terrific bend around the edge and looked fantastic in training camp, but come the season, he just couldn’t get to the quarterback as often as he should have.Part of Key’s development was to get stronger. Adding muscle means adding weight. Just how much weight seems to be a point of contention.“We’d like to see Arden be 260 pounds someday, 270 pounds someday,” Gruden said following the first OTA session last month. This suggests that Key is probably hovering around 250 pounds.Tuesday, Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther was asked where Key was weight wise, and his take on Key’s expected weight was very different than Gruden’s.“He’s right where we’re at,” Guenther said of Key. “I know there are some reports where [they say] he’s light. We drafted Arden to be a third-down rusher. That’s what it was. You don’t want to be a 260-pound slug out there. He knows exactly where we want him to be weight-wise, and his strength and conditioning is a progress thing for him right now.”With the way the Raiders coaching staff is set up, Gruden is pretty hands-off when it comes to the defense, so Guenther knows far better what he wants from his defensive players.Gruden also spoke of the need for more a defensive end who can rush on more than just third down. That’s where Clelin Ferrell comes in. He is 6-4 Bo Jackson Jersey , 267 pounds and is a three-down defensive end. Key is not. And they don’t expect him to be. With the trade of Khalil Mack and the eventual waiving of Bruce Irvin, Key was forced into three-down duties and that’s just not what the Raiders want from him. At least not right now.Follow @LeviDamien We now can be assured of one more thing in life, and that’s that everything is relative.Either that or after seven years, Vontaze Burfict found his spiritual home. The veteran linebacker, who stacked up suspensions and fines like tackles with the Bengals, took a shot at his former team while talking about the Raiders’ upcoming “Hard Knocks” appearance.“I just think it’s exciting for people to see what type of team we have because the team chemistry we have is just amazing,” Burfict told the . “This is my second team, but it’s the first time I’ve had a team like this and everybody gets along. It doesn’t matter what type of day it is. We’re all here to see each other get better and motivate each other. We’ve got a lot of characters, in a good way.”That must be it, that Burfict has just found his personal island of the misfit toys, a place where all the oddballs are just like him. What the Bengals might have lacked in personality to suit him, they made up for in actual football success, having won 22 more games over the last seven years (62-50 to Oakland’s 40-72) than his new ideal of what an organization is supposed to look like.

All-Pro safety Kevin Byard threw the TD pass on the fake punt, and Ryan Succop kicked field goals of 42 and 31 yards in the fourth quarter for the victory. Gabbert described the coaching staff's aggressiveness as gritty."The message that Vrabel kind of relays throughout this organization, through the coaching staff to the players is to keep fighting," Gabbert said. Mariota warmed up wearing a glove over his right hand and even threw some passes. But he still is having numbness in his right hand after hurting his elbow in the season opener in Miami. So Gabbert started for his fourth different NFL team, and the Titans will see where Mariota is before they visit defending AFC South champ Jacksonville."We'll keep evaluating Marcus and when we have an update on him we'll let you know," Vrabel said.SIDELINE TAUNTINGThe Texans didn't help themselves with 11 penalties for 88 yards, and one of the worst came in the fourth quarter after Houston had taken its first lead at 17-14. Luke Stocker caught a pass and was pushed out of bounds on the Houston sideline. Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney apparently said something, and officials flagged Houston for taunting and unsportsmanlike conduct. That moved the Titans to midfield, and they tied it up seven plays later with the first of Succop's two field goals.TENNESSEE WILDCATThe Titans didn't use it much Womens Sammie Coates Jersey , but Derrick Henry handled the wildcat on five snaps on the Titans' lone touchdown drive. The Titans put in the impromptu wildcat earlier this week, and Henry said he ran it a lot in high school and once in practice in college at Alabama. He joked Vrabel must have seen his high school tape and drew up the fake punt for him. Byard hit a wide-open Dane Cruikshank, and the rookie finished off a 66-yard TD in the first quarter. The Dolphins don’t really have a quarterback of the future at the moment DeShawn Shead Jersey White , or a clear path to finding one.But they tried to make a bold move to fix that last year.According to Armando Salguero of the , the Dolphins were interested in trading for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, with then-coach Adam Gase reaching out to Lions coach Matt Patricia to see what it would take to do a deal.Obviously it didn’t happen, and Gase trotted Ryan Tannehill out unsuccessfully before cleaning house of coach and quarterback this offseason. And the possible trade may not have even reached past the talking stage. According to Dave Birkett of the , Lions General Manager Bob Quinn denied the suggestion of trade talks at the Scouting Combine.Still, it’s worth noting that the Dolphins were desperate to make a bold move, in the context of owner Stephen Ross saying his former coach wanted to try to “win and win now” at a time when a rebuild is clearly needed. EDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft results: Detroit Lions select LB Jahlani Tavai in second roundGary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsAfter selecting Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson in the first round, the Detroit Lions have followed up that pick with the second-round selection of Hawaii linebacker Jahlani Tavai. This pick certainly comes as a pretty big surprise for most fans and analysts. With a few popular cornerbacks on the board, like Greedy Williams, Justin Layne or David Long, the Lions decided to go with a linebacker many had pegged for Day 3 in the draft. Tavai was a four-year starter at Hawaii, racking up 390 tackles, 41 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks over 47 games played. Since he’s a relative unknown http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic...ner-jersey , I’ll differ to our friends at Arrowhead Pride and this profile of Tavai:One big concern with Tavai is a serious shoulder injury that limited him to just eight games in his senior year.As for his fit in Detroit, he gives the Lions some much-needed depth at the linebacker position. He could potentially take up Christian Jones’ spot on the starting roster, or could even slide into middle linebacker, moving Jarrad Davis to an outside more pass rushing position.Of course, that’s all assuming Tavai is as good as the Lions are expecting. Not many analysts had Tavai going as early as Day 2, so there’s a lot of trust happening here in Detroit’s scouting team. ESPN draft expert Todd McShay is hearing that there’s a real chance Cincinnati goes with a quarterback in the first round. He also mentions Devin Bush as a target if the Bengals address linebacker. Obviously, you need to take this with a big grain of salt, as this is the time of the draft process when false rumors run rampant. Heck http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.c...att-jersey , it wouldn’t be a surprise if this were a rumor that the Bengals started. They’d probably like to see several quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 to push a guy like Ed Olver or Devin White to them at 11. But Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is a great prospect who is worthy of being the 11th pick. If he’s still there when Cincinnati goes on the clock, it sounds like we can’t rule out Haskins being the pick.

Despite AGF's directive, DSS is currently looking for evidence to nail Sowore - Falana

Femi Falana has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of looking for evidence to nail Omoyele Sowore in spite of report of Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami taking over the case.

The human rights activist said Sowore was subjected to a 4-hour interrogation on Thursday December 12, by the DSS which was witnessed by a member of the #RevolutionNow converner's legal team Mr. Abubakar Marshal.

Falana disclosed that the entire interrogation pertained to Sowore’s alleged links with the proscribed Boko Haram sect, IPOB, and IMN. He also insisted that the AGF is not taking over the case because he (AGF) was the one that filed a case against Sowore before it was transferred to Hassan Liman, the prosecuting counsel.

He said;

Quote:“It is not a take over because it was the AGF that filed the Sowore’s case and farmed it out to Dr. Hassan Liman SAN.
“But in view of the violent invasion of the court by armed operatives of the SSS, the AGF has decided to sack the prosecution team and have the case prosecuted by the DPP.
“Having been advised that Sowore cannot be convicted on the basis of the proof of evidence filed in court, the sss has refused to make the statements of the prosecution witnesess available to the defendants as ordered by the trial court.
“Hence, hearing in the case has been adjourned to February 20, 2020 at the instance of the Prosecution.
“Convinced that the pending case would collapse like a pack of cards, the sss is currently fishing for evidence to nail Sowore. In spite of the directive of the AGF to take over the case the sss subjected Sowore to a 4-hour interrogation yesterday (12/12/19).
“The entire interrogation pertained to Sowore’s alleged links with the proscribed Boko Haram sect, IPOB, and IMN which he vehemently denied. At Sowore’s instance a member of the legal defence team, Mr. Abubakar Marshal witnessed the marathon interrogation.
“In view of the foregoing we urge the Agf to file a nolle prosequi motion without any further delay to end the macabre dance which has exposed the country to avoidable embarrassment.”

A suspected ritualist, alleged to have been disguising as a madman, was apprehended at the popular Otokutu Bridge in Ughelli South council area of Delta state on Thursday evening December 12th.

According to reports, the suspect was allegedly found with a human skull, different types of phones and other items. Members of a local vigilante group trailed the suspect to his hideout located under the bridge after they spotted him receiving phone calls like a normal person.

However, the 'madman' reportedly threw one of the phones into the river on noticing that local security team had discovered his antics.

The vigilante members pounced on him, beat him severely and then handed him over to the police.

Fruit seller allegedly killed by SARS officers. The police and residents give varying accounts

A protest ensued in Akpunmiri Ubakala community of Abia State on Thursday December 12, after a fruit seller identified as Kasarachi Moses was allegedly shot dead by SARS officials.

Kasarachi reportedly died after being hit by a stray bullet fired by one of the SARS officers.

While Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Eneh Okon alleged that the deceased died while men of his command responded to an armed robbery attack, residents of the community debunked the claim.

Okon however urged residents of the community to remain calm as a panel of inquiry has been set up to investigate the incident.

Quote:“We got a distress call that armed robbers were operating at Ubakala and the SARS operatives responded to the distress call.
“But on sighting the SARS operatives, the armed robbers, who were five in number and operating in military uniform, started shooting at the policemen.
“It was during the exchange of gunfire that a stray bullet hit the victim, who later died in hospital.
“One of the suspects dropped his weapon and fled the scene, while the Sienna SUV used by the policemen for the operation had a lot of bullet holes.”

An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen denied claims of a robbery attack taking place in the community. He disclosed that the deceased died after being hit by a bullet fired by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad operatives who were in the habit of raiding the area to arrest commercial motorcyclists.

He said;

Quote:“The victim was a middle-aged woman, who sold fruits by the roadside. She was also the one taking care of her aged mother, who had been sick.
“It is a pity that she died in such a manner due to the recklessness of the policemen. All we want is justice in this matter. We want the state police command to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to justice.”

Here is a video of eyewitnesses recounting how the incident occurred;

Pastors sentenced to prison for forgery

Chief Magistrate J.O Umezulike has sentenced the General Overseer of Christian Charismatic Movement (Enugu chapter) Sabinus Onuigbo to 7 years in prison, after being found guilty of charges of forgery.

Umezulike was arraigned alongside three other pastors of the church; Tony Chukwu, Chukwuma Orji Victor and Nick Nwoye and they got 3 years in prison each with an option of N20,000 fine.

The convicts underwent trial after being sued by one Innocent Ngwu for forging the signature of Pastor Sunny Ndolo who resigned from the church since 2011, and adding it in the minutes of the church’s meeting held on July 14, 2014.

Speaking during the sentencing on Thursday December 11, the judge said;

Quote:“The sole issue for determination was the forgery of Rev. Sunny Ndolo’s signature. The defence did not debunk or contradict it all through with their defence.
“As Lord Denning would say, you cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand. Prosecution proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.
"The defence resorted to underhand tactics to undermine his judgement because as his proceedings was ongoing, there were intermittent interference.
“But facts before the court found four of the accused guilty while the fifth accused was not party to the allegations.”

Two INEC staff bag 42 years for collecting bribes

A high court sitting in Yola, presided by Justice Nathan Musa on Thursday, Deember 12th jailed two Independent National Electoral Commission staff for 42 years for collecting bribes.
Justice Musa also asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the International Police to produce former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to face prosecution over the N362 million she sent to the two convicted INEC staff in order to compromise the 2015 presidential election in Adamawa State.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had brought the case against Ibrahim Mohammed Umar, Sahabo Iya Hamman, both staff of INEC as well as the former Minister of Petroleum for conspiring to defraud the federal government with the intent to compromise the 2015 general elections.

Musa said the court delivered the verdict after due diligence established a conspiracy between the persons, as such he convicted and sentenced the two INEC staff to seven years each on the three counts brought against them by the EFCC.

The judge said he was giving a lenient sentence since the accused were first-term offenders adding that the sentence would run concurrently.

Quote:“The offence has a mandatory provision. I’m constrained by the law. They shall be sentenced to seven years imprisonment without the option of fine.
”However in view of plea to temper justice with mercy, I will allow the sentence to run concurrently,” he said.

77-year-old General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has shared one thing he must do before dying.

Pastor Adeboye who preached on the topic ‘The Power of Inspiration’ on the third day of the Holy Ghost Congress 2019 holding at the Redemption Campground, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, said he has a plan of building a church as big as Ibadan. According to him, no one should believe he is dead until that is done.

He said;

Quote:“If anybody tells you Pastor Adeboye is dead, don’t believe them because God is going to build us the auditorium as big as Ibadan. Until that is done, I’m not going anywhere."

On the state of the nation, Pastor Adeboye said;

Quote:“There is no better time mankind needed a turnaround than now
“If we ever needed a turnaround, there is no better time than now to experience it. We are all witnesses to all that have been happening in Nigeria.
“So, when the Lord assures of the great turnaround, He must have us in mind.
“In situations like ours, His people had always experienced great turnarounds all through the generations. He had done it before and He will do it again because he is the unchangeable changer."

Quote:The Federal Government has set a 2023 deadline to stop the importation of petrol into the country.

Nigeria, an oil-producing country has been heavily dependent on the importation of petroleum products since its four major oil refineries have been under-utilized.

According to the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, while signing the Condensate refinery strategy programme Front End Engineering Design, the strategy is expected to deliver 20 million litres of Petrol when it’s completed.

Mr Kyari explained that President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned that as an oil-producing country, Nigeria is one of the highest importers of petrol in the world.

In 2017, the Federal Government planned to stop the importation of fuel by 2019 with the approval of a new National Oil Policy by the Federal Executive Council.

The Return Of Parked Tankers On Expressways In Lagos (PHOTOS)
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 12-13-2019, 08:03 PM - No Replies

Parked tankers and heavy-duty trucks are backed to expressways in Lagos State. This is coming after a few months of absence from the roads.

Lately, a long queue of the parked tankers can be noticed along some expressways in the state. Affected expressways include Ikorodu-Expressways leading to Eko Bridge, and to some Apapa roads.

Recall that, sometime in May this year, the Nigerian Presidency issued a directive for the immediate clearing up of the Apapa gridlock and the restoration of law and order in its environs within 2 weeks.

Less than a week after that directive was issued, parked trucks are speedily disappearing from major roads and bridges.

Roads affected are those that lead to the two seaports in Lagos state – the Apapa Port Complex and the Tin Can Island Port.

The period of the absence of the parked tankers on the expressways gave the roads a more organize outlook. This enabled a free flow of traffic on the busy expressways.

Traffic gridlock at the Apapa axis of Lagos state has been a major cause for concern as it has made doing business at the seaport and the surrounding environment tedious.

The recent return of the parked heavy-duty trucks has given rise to gridlock on affected roads.

Police Bust Kidnappers Waiting For Ransom In Gombe

A suspected kidnapper in Gombe State, Ibrahim Ahmadu, has expressed disappointment that a victim called the police instead of bringing the N1m ransom he promised his abductors.

Ahmadu, who is one of two suspects arrested out of a five-member gang, was paraded by the police in Gombe on Thursday.

He said the victim, Gidado Jungudo, was released from captivity with the understanding that he would go and source for the ransom but instead, he turned to the police for help.

Ahmadu said, “Unfortunately, he had to call the Divisional Police Officer, who in turn mobilised his men and hunters to chase after us, where they discovered us in our hideout.”

Parading the suspects, the spokesperson of the Gombe State Police Command, SP Mary Malum, said, “Policemen from the Dukku Division of the state arrested Audu Umar, 28, and Ibrahim Ahmadu, 25, from the Lapiya village in Dukku, while three others are at large in a case of criminal conspiracy, trespass, intimidation, armed robbery and kidnapping.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two AK-47 rifles, two locally-made revolver pistols, two machetes, sticks, clothes, knives and ropes. The suspects confessed to the crime and will be charged.”

GSMA warns against imposing tax on communication services in Nigeria

Communication mast

.Warns tax will slow broadband adoption as ecosystem adds $21b to economy

The Global System for Mobile telecommunications Services (GSMA) has expressed serious concern over the proposed nine per cent Communication Service Tax (CST) in Nigeria, currently under consideration by the National Assembly.

GSMA noted that following substantial research into the impact of taxation on mobile communication services, it believes such a tax poses a severe threat to Nigeria’s future economic growth.

The body, which represents the interest of over 800 operators and vendors across the globe, noted that imposing a new ‘sector-specific’ tax on communication services would result in increasing price levels for consumers, and as a result, decrease the adoption and usage of broadband services.

It stressed that this will in turn have adverse effects on the industry investment needed to improve and expand mobile connectivity across the country.

GSMA noted that the proposal departs from best-practice principles of taxation recommended by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. According to it, these institutions recommend that taxation should be as broad-based as possible (i.e., not sector-specific) and should not undermine investment.

Head of Sub-Saharan Africa, GSMA, Akinwale Goodluck, said the government’s long-term digital ambitions will be severely compromised if these tax proposals go ahead.

“The potential of mobile broadband is clear from the rapid development of the digital economy in Nigeria. The mobile ecosystem already contributes over $21 billion to the Nigerian economy and around 16 per cent of total government tax revenue. The focus should be on boosting mobile penetration, and investment in networks to strengthen the economy, rather than undermining this through potentially punitive taxes,” he stated.

GSMA explained that from the point view of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a 10 per cent increase in mobile penetration in a sample of African countries yields a 2.5 per cent increase in GDP per capita.

To support sustainable economic growth, it stressed that fiscal policy in Nigeria should promote the wider adoption of broadband services and not hamper their adoption, adding: “Such taxes could also end up having a disproportionate impact on poorer households.”

According to it, such tax will make affordability a barrier to adoption in the country.

GSMA noted that though Nigeria recently surpassed 100 million subscribers mark, “despite this fact, around half of the population remains unconnected. About one-third of the population in Nigeria use a mobile Internet service, and the same proportion have a smartphone. Based on this, Nigeria currently lags its regional peers in terms of mobile broadband adoption. Increasing adoption is crucial in a country where fixed-line penetration is at less than one per cent.”

Among the unconnected, affordability is cited as the main barrier stopping them from getting a connection. Based on GSMA analysis of the total cost of mobile ownership, a 1GB basket in Nigeria costs around seven per cent of average income in 2018.

This is significantly above the United Nations Broadband Commission’s affordability target of 1GB of mobile broadband data available for two per cent or less of gross national income per capita.

GSMA explained that the affordability barrier is particularly evident for lower income citizens in Nigeria for whom access to a 1GB basket would cost around 24 per cent of income. The new tax, according to it, even if only partly reflected in prices, will exacerbate an already significant affordability barrier and hamper the uptake and usage of services, especially for lower income citizens.

“To support its digital agenda, the government should take steps to remove any barriers to affordability, increasing mobile penetration, and investment in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure. This will, over time, lead to much faster economic growth together with higher fiscal income for the government from a broader tax base,” Goodluck added.

NACC president, Otunba Oluwatoyin Akomolafe

The Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) has stated that it would mobilise initiatives to create greater trade deals between Nigeria and the United States, noting that plans are also ongoing to also push for an enabling business environment to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on hydrocarbon resources.

The NACC president, Otunba Oluwatoyin Akomolafe, said the chamber is poised to promoting business relationships between both countries.

Meanwhile, the Consul General, US Consulate, Ms. Claire Pierangelo, said the volume of trade between Nigeria and the United State has hit $6.5 billion as at October 2019.

Akomolafe at the chamber’s yearly dinner, in Lagos on Wednesday, said the event was to celebrate excellence in the Nigerian business sector, maintaining that the chamber is planning an AGOA stakeholder forum expected to be graced by experts on quality assurance, trade and finance.

“Our wrap up for 2019 is our AGOA stakeholder forum, featuring experts in quality assurance trade and finance. The year 2020 will make it 60 years that the chamber has been in existence as the foremost bilateral chamber in Nigeria,” he stated.

The US Consul General, said since the inception of the chamber 60 years ago, it has played a key role in advancing United States-Nigeria trade and investment bringing together potential business partners from both countries and serving as a catalyst to strengthen the already extensive commercial ties.
According to her, Nigeria remains one of the United States’ largest trading partners in sub-Saharan Africa, stating that NACC was a key player in achieving that result.

“Nigeria is a key player in our bilateral economic relationship and I am excited at the very many opportunities for partnership with the United States mission for 2020. In addition to several bilateral dialogues, we are going to see the launch of USAID’s West Africa trade hub which will now be based in Abuja.

“The US Commercial Service will host their United States fair at the end of March which would bring about 60 potential United States companies to meet with business leaders and as you and your members pursue these initiatives, you can count on our support. Your mission to foster and promote US-Nigeria trade and investment is one that we fully share,” she added.

The Executive Chairman, BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, commended the board of NACC for the smooth running of the chamber, while also ensuring greater trade and commercial relationships as well as easing the business relationship between Nigeria and the United States.

He said much work has been done in various sectors over the years, but believes more still needs to be done.

“The chamber has been at the fore front of driving cross-border investment regardless of the economic and climate situation both in the United States and Nigeria.

Now is the time to diversify partnerships further, increase the focus on our Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and grow volumes of businesses conducted between Nigeria and American companies under the guiding hands of the chamber.

We can and must do more. For the chamber to work effectively, we must as members, keep sharing ideas, experiences. It is only then we can attract and extract the full benefits of our membership,” he stressed

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, said unless the continent finds a sustainable solution, especially in the area of finance, most discoveries on the continent may remain untapped.
Speaking in Abuja at the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of African petroleum Producers’

Organisation (APPO), Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, expressed displeasure with the achievement of the organisation, which was set up to provide a platform for cooperation and collaboration as well as knowledge and competencies sharing among African oil producing countries.

While APPO last met in Abuja last year, with a resolution to reform the association to reflect the paradigm shift in the global oil and gas sector, APPO is currently looking to also reform its fund for International Development, renaming it as African Energy Investment Corporation (AEICORP).

With the ongoing reform, APPO Council of Ministers had agreed to open up equity ownership to private and financial institutions with recapitalization of equity to $1 billion and the establishment of a new Board of Directors with membership from both the public and private sectors.

Buhari sees the move as an avenue that may improve the funding gap on the continent, stressing that the importance of the recapitalization, would help the continent in the face of the global paradigm, shift away from oil as energy source, particularly as investment funds are fast drying up for the oil industry.

“This is happening at a time Africa is finding more and more oil and gas. Without the required funds, these reserves will remain in the ground, untapped and un-accessed, while our people go without energy.

“I want to encourage our members countries to make equity subscription to AEICORP in order to ensure consequential investment by Sovereign Wealth Funds, National Oil Companies or any other designated organizations of Existing Members and Non members of APPO, African/International Private Banks, Financial Institutions, and African/International Private Investors.,” Buhari said.

Decrying that Africa has over 600 million out of the 850 million people in the world, who do not have access to modern energy, the President said there was need to exploit the continent’s energy resources to address the energy crisis.

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will divest into gas processing with its subsidiary, Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) following acquisition of equity in some gas companies.

The Chairman, Board of Directors NGC and NNPC Chief Operating Officer (COO), Upstream, Roland Ewubare, who disclosed this at the 24th yearly general meeting of the company in Abuja yesterday, said the company is looking at expanding its footprint in the nation’s gas sector and, in turn, boost its revenue by diversifying into gas processing services.

Ewubare had acquired equity in a number of gas processing companies, including Assa North-Ohaji South (ANOH) Gas Processing Company (AGPC), Makaraba Gas Processing Project and the Sapele Gas Compression Project.

“Completion of these gas processing projects are expected to significantly increase NGC’s revenue and boost the Federal Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan”, he said.

Ewubare noted that the financial performance for 2018 saw a profit of N13.29 billion, adding that “The profit after tax for the year ended 31st December, 2018, increased from N6.11bn in 2017 to N13.29bn representing an increase of 117 per cent.”

According to him, the increase in the company’s revenue and profit was attributed to increase in the volume of gas transported, cost reduction initiatives, effective pipeline operations and maintenance, and cordial relations with host communities.

Managing Director of NGC, Dr. Salihu Jamari, who also spoke at the occasion, said the improvements recorded in the company’s performance were a testimony to the commitment by the management to deliver value to shareholders and stakeholders.

The completion of gas infrastructure projects such as Phase two of the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS 2C), Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Pipelines and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Pipeline would further boost the company’s profitability, he added.

Type 2 diabetes and the importance of blood sugar is essential to manage effectively so that you can avoid the terrible complications that can happen if left untreated. Your blood sugar levels need to be maintained at all times when you have type 2 diabetes and this can be done quite easily once you implement the right management plan.
The most important points to remember when you have type 2 diabetes is that you can take control and manage your disease so that you can achieve optimum health. You are able to do this by maintaining your blood sugar levels, implementing a healthy nutritious well-balanced diet and an exercise routine that is suited to your individual requirements.

It is important to know that when you have type 2 diabetes you will need to not only keep an eye on your blood sugar, but also your cholesterol, this includes HDL cholesterol (this is the good one), LDL cholesterol (this is the bad one), and triglycerides, as well as blood pressure and you will need to control your weight.Blood sugar is known as glucose, which is where the sweetness of urine comes from. Glucose is the main sugar in your body that provides you with energy. Sugar is a carbohydrate that is one of three sources of energy for your body; the two are protein and fat.

Sucrose also known as table sugar is the combination of glucose and fructose. Fructose is the sugar found in fruits and vegetables, fructose is the sweeter of the two, and this means that your body requires less sucrose or fructose to gain the sweetness that glucose provides. The glucose or blood sugar is controlled in your body by the hormone called insulin. Insulin is essential for growth as well as being the provider of allowing glucose to enter into the cells; if the glucose cannot enter the cells it cannot provide the energy your body requires.

The importance of blood sugar control is vital if you are to survive; as the glucose starts to rise in your blood this is when insulin is either not available or you do not have enough in your system. If your glucose or blood sugar rises over 10 mmol/L this is when it starts to go into your urine, usually your kidney is the filter for your blood, but the worry is when the kidney is not able to filter the glucose and it enters the urine means that you are now at a high risk of developing complications that are associated with diabetes. When you have type 2 diabetes you must understand the importance of blood sugar control being absolutely vital for the complete management of diabetes so that you can achieve optimum health.

67-year-old farmer sentenced to prison for killing 4 cows

A Dutse Grade I Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced a 67-year-old farmer, Samson Aku, to three months imprisonment for maiming and killing a herder’s cows, which strayed into his farm.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Suleiman Mohammed, sentenced Aku after finding the convict guilty of the charges filed against him.

The act, according to the judge, is not justifiable.

“It is evident that the defendant took laws into his hands, which shouldn’t be, and has failed to convince the court in his defence the reason for his actions.

“Therefore, this court, having found you guilty of the charges brought against you, hereby sentences you to three months in a correctional facility, while in consideration of your age,” he said.

Mohammed, however gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N25,000.
The convict, a resident of Friendship Street, SCC road in Bwari, had been arraigned and charged for causing mischief by killing or maiming an animal, NAN reports.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Police Prosecutor, Mrs Idowu Ojo, told the court that on June 6, one Dauda Usman, a Fulani herdsman and resident of Zuma area of Bwari, reported the matter at the Bwari police station.

Ojo explained that on June 5, while the complainant’s cows were grazing in the bush behind Kogo II village in the district, they mistakenly entered and ate part of the crops on the defendant’s farm.

The prosecutor said the defendant, however, angrily used a machete to maim six cows, killing four in the process, all valued at N360,000.

She explained that the two other cows were quickly slaughtered by the herder to save himself of total loss, after noticing that the injuries inflicted on the animals were killing them.

Ojo said that during investigation, the defendant confessed to committing the crime.
She said that the offence contravened Section 329 of the Penal Code.

AGF Malami Orders DSS To Hands-Off Trial, Takes Over Case-file of Sowore
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-13-2019, 10:50 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has ordered the Department of State Service, DSS, to hands-off the prosecution of detained pro-democracy activist and convener of RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore.

The AGF, in a statement that was made available to newsmen by his media aide, Dr Umar Gwandu, on Friday, said he directed the security agency to forward the case file in respect of charge pending against Sowore before the Federal High Court in Abuja, to his office.

Malami further directed the Federal Ministry of Justice to immediately take over the prosecution of all charges against Sowore, in line with the provisions of Sections 150(1) and 174 (1) (a-c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

He said the Federal Government was committed to respecting the sanctity of the rule of law, protecting the virtues of human rights and ensuring speedy dispensation of justice in the matter.

“As part of deliberate efforts to probe emerging issues related to the recent imbroglio related to Omoyele Sowore’s case and for speedy dispensation of justice, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice has requested that the case file in respect of charge pending before the Federal High Court, Abuja be forwarded to his office”.

In the statement, Dr Gwandu said the request for the transfer of the case to the office of the AGF was contained in a letter dated December 11, 2019 and addressed to the Director-General of the DSS, National Headquarters, Abuja.

The Solicitor General of the Federation and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Dayo Apata, SAN, who signed the letter, refereed to an initial letter the DSS wrote to the AGF on September 9, 2019.

According to the statement, Apata’s letter to the secret service, read: “The Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice upon a further review of the case has directed the immediate takeover of the prosecution of all charges in respect of Omoyole Sowore by the Federal Ministry of Justice in line with the provisions of Sections 150(1) and 174 (1) (a-c) of the

1999 Constitution (as amended)”.

It said the letter requested the DSS DG to “promptly forward all the case files” in respect of Omoyele Sowore to the office of the AGF and Minister of Justice.

Sowore, who was the presidential candidate of African Action Congress, AAC, in the last general election and publisher of an online news outlet, Sahara Reporters, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare (aka Mandate), are answering to a seven-count treasonable felony charge.

They were in the charge marked FHC/ ABJ/CR/235/2019, accused of conspiracy, money laundering, cyber-stalking and insulting President Buhari.

Though the defendants perfected all the conditions the court gave for their bail, the DSS declined to release them, claiming that no surety came forward to receive them.

Following a 24 hours ultimatum trial Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu issued for their release, DSS, temporarily freed them from detention last week Thursday.

The agency subsequently re-arrested Sowore the next day within the court premises after his trial was adjourned till February 11, 2020.

Circumstances that surrounded the manner in which he was re-arrested, which involved the invasion of the courtroom by alleged operatives of the DSS, has continued to attract condemnation for the security agency.

Though DSS claimed that its officers were not involved in the court invasion saga, insisting that they waited and arrested Sowore outside the court premises, however, counsel to the defendants, Mr Femi Falana, SAN, insisted that the agency was involved.

Malami earlier disclosed that the Federal Government had commenced its investigation into the matter.

Similarly, the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, on Thursday, called for the setting up of an Independent Judicial Commission of Enquiry to unravel those behind the courtroom invasion.

Sowore was arrested on August 2 in Lagos and later transferred to Abuja for prosecution, after he called for a nationwide protest against perceived maladministration by the President Buhari-led government.

Despite his arrest, the protest held in various parts of the country on August 5, with security operatives clamping down on some of the participants.

Quote:19-year-old boy impregnates mother while testing love charm in Delta

Residents of Asaba, Delta State were left bewildered after a 19-year-old boy allegedly impregnated his mother while testing his love charm. According to reports gathered, the boy, popularly called Ekenem had gone to a native doctor, who prepared a love charm for him to use on his mother and one of the matrons in the college where he is a boarding student.

It was gathered that the husband of the woman, who has been away for some time outside his Port Harcourt operational base, denied being responsible for the pregnancy during interrogation. But the victim, the suspect’s mother, while speaking to journalists said: “I did not know how it happened, but all I can say is that a young man who looked like my son suddenly found his way into my room at the wee hours and I was speechless”, adding that the whole exercise had remained inexplicable.

Speaking at the police headquarters to journalists, the suspect said: “I am deeply sorry for all that has happened, I did not mean to do this. I saw myself falling in love with her after the love charm prepared for me. I have to confess because I know by so doing, God will touch her mind and I know she will forgive me.

“I suddenly found that I was making love to mum when I thought the charm will not work, and upon the revelation, I threatened to kill her and the matter was reported to the police”, he said.

DSP Celestina Kalu, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who confirmed the report, disclosed that the boy was arrested over threat to life.

Former Miss Teen Great Britain who dreamed of becoming ISIS fighter is convicted of funding terrorism

A former Miss Teen Great Britain who once dated a Liverpool footballer has been convicted of funding terrorism.

Amaani Noor, 21, turned to religion after splitting from a Liverpool footballer. She married a jihadi fighter online and told him it was "her dream" to join him in war-torn Syria.

She was arrested after sending $45.51 to a Paypal account linked to an Islamist group called The Merciful Hands on May 23, 2018. She denied knowing or believing that the money may be used for the purposes of terrorism. But a jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard Noor had expressed her support for "violent jihad" and Islamic State terrorists via the encrypted instant messaging service Telegram.

During the trial the court heard how Noor focused on religion after splitting with an LFC footballer, the Liverpool Echo reports. The player was not named in court but Noor has previously spoken out about her relationship with Sheyi Ojo, who is on loan at Rangers.

The jury heard Noor, from Liverpool, had been introduced to Merciful Hands by 28-year-old Victoria Webster who earlier this year pleaded guilty to funding terrorism.

Before sending the money, she received a message from Webster saying a foreign fighter needed help.

The message reads: "The father is a frontliner, and due to his circumstances and debts it’s hard to keep food on the table."

A minute after sending the money Noor messaged Webster, saying: "So will it go to a brother who is a fighter or ex fighter and has a family?."

The jury rejected Noor’s explanation that she only intended the money to be used for humanitarian aid.

Diana Wilson, prosecuting, said: "It is clear from the context that she did not think she was giving money to support Syrian government forces."

The court heard the former WAG supported Sharia Law and kept IS propaganda videos depicting terrorists torturing, executing and beheading victims on her phone.

She said she had both dreams and fears of becoming an ISIS fighter in a deleted email sent to her husband.

On the day police searched Noor’s home in July last year, she had flights booked to Turkey, the jury was told.

Giving evidence, Noor told the jury she had been planning to go and join her husband Hakim in Syria, where he said he was an independent fighter, and as their marriage continued she "wanted to be with him more".

The former performing arts student, who had a Youtube channel, said now her marriage to Hakim had ended she felt it was "stupid", "bad" and "wrong".

She added: "I don’t feel proud or happy about it."

Sentencing was adjourned after David Gottlieb, defending, asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

50 Cent took to Instagram to accuse Oprah Winfrey of targetting Black men accused of sexual assault while turning a blind eye on White men accused of same.

The music entertainment entrepreneur shared a photo of Oprah with her one-time good friend Russell Simmons, who has been accused of sexual assault.

He said that Oprah and her best friend Gale King usually create documentaries about Black men accused of sexual assault and these documentaries are usually the "death blow" that makes them "guilty till proven innocent." He pointed out they do not do this to White men who have been accused of sexual assault.

50 Cent wrote: "I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men. No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal jackson and Russell Simmons this shit is sad. Gale hit R Kelly with the death blow documentary. Every time I hear Micheal jackson I don’t know whether to dance or think about the little boys butts. These documentary’s are publicly convicting their targets, it makes them guilty till proven innocent. A 50-year-old man has been jailed for life for raping a 19-month-old baby girl who required corrective surgery for the injuries she sustained.

Mzingisi James Ntshontshi was jailed for life this week by Port Elizabeth high court judge Irma Schoeman for the rape on August 12, 2018.

The judge described his actions as “abhorrent, wicked and perverse” and said the ordeal had devastating consequences for the toddler.

According to testimony led during the trial, the child's mother, who worked at a bakery in St Francis Bay, had left her in the care of a woman who shared a house with in Ntshontshi. The female carer, in turn, left the child with the accused, when she went to buy alcohol at about 7am at a nearby shebeen.

Before she could return, the child was found half-clothed, bloody and bruised in the bushes about 100m away from the house by members of the community at about 4pm that day.

Humansdorp hospital's Dr. LM Mabaso, who examined the toddler, told the court that due to the severity of the injuries, she had immediately consulted with a specialist at Dora Nginza Hospital and the little girl had been rushed to Port Elizabeth for corrective surgery.

A medical report filed before sentencing described the enduring physical and psychological problems affecting the child. Her rapist was also ordered to pay for her corrective surgery from behind prison bars.

The worried mother of the child who sent her daughter away to live with family members after the incident told the court of her guilt.

“After it happened I saw her once because I separated myself from her ... when I look at her or when (a relative) sends me a picture of her, then I have the image of when she was raped,” the mother said.
