Ketozol Diet : I have shed a couple of new light on that whole business. I like to see this sort of price cutting. You might suppose that I've got bats in my belfry. It is a solid foundation. Either way, fellow travelers seem to be willing to pay for Ketosis because it is somewhat related to your emotional well being. Therefore, I had a slight situation. Weight Loss was designed by them. I'm a noob. It will probably not lead you to rethink your Weight Lose approaches. This installment will cause a number of head scratching.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 21ST MAY.

EDUCATING THE INWARD MAN

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind... (Romans 12:2).

The highest potential of the human nature isn’t in the outward man, but in the inward man, the human spirit. This is why the premium must be on the education of your spirit.

The best education in the world is an attempt to inform, refine, and develop the mind through the senses of the outward man. However, it’s the education of the inward man, the human spirit, that ultimately gives light and wisdom, and it’s only achievable through receiving and meditating on the Word of God.

God’s Word helps you discover the real you and improves the quality of your life from within. Read our opening verse again and notice that it talks about the spiritual education of the inward man: “…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind .”
Now, in education, there’s practice and exercise. Thus, in educating your inward man, you practise the Word; you practise living, seeing, and relating from your spirit. You refuse to relate to things from a natural or physical standpoint.

Remember part of what we read: “…be not conformed to this world…” ; meaning you shouldn’t live like them, or think like them, or see from their perspective. Instead, be transfigured and translated by the renewing of your mind; by feeding and nurturing your spirit with the Word, you change the way you think.

For example, hitherto you thought you were a failure, but now you think differently, because the Word says you’re a success. You thought you were a mere sinner, failing to please the Lord, but now you think and see yourself as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You have a new mind-set—the mind-set of the righteous which indeed is a result of the education of the inward man.

CONFESSION

I have the mindset of the just. I’m positioned at all times to receive direction, inspiration, counsel and wisdom from the Spirit of God! I’m yielded to the guidance of the Spirit; therefore, I walk in consistent victories and triumphs, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

21ST MAY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.
Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for guiding me in the path of life and leading me in the way of supernatural success and permanent prosperity. I make my way prosperous and consistently experience good success as I meditate on the Word and speak it forth with boldness.

I thank You Father, for the power of Your Spirit in my life! Even now, I am strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in my inner man! I can do all things through Christ who energizes and infuses me with miracle-working ability! I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency! Hallelujah!

God bless you

Address Us With Respect Not Threats Of War – Iran Warns US

Iran, on Monday, cautioned the U.S. against tending to the Islamic Republic of Iran with a lack of regard and dangers of war.

This notice comes a multi-day after U.S. President Donald Trump stirred worries about a potential U.S.- Iran struggle.

Be that as it may, in an indication of preparing encounter a year after Washington quit world forces' 2015 atomic arrangement with Iran and reimposed endorses on it, Tehran declared a fourfold increment in its rate of poor quality uranium improvement, NAN reports.

Strains among Washington and its Sunni Muslim Gulf Arab partners on one side and Tehran and its Shi'ite Muslim intermediaries in the locale on the other have been flaring for a considerable length of time.

On Sunday, Trump tweeted: "If Iran needs to battle, that will be the official end of Iran. Never undermine the U.S. once more!"

Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Zarif answered on his Twitter account "Never Threaten An Iranian. Attempt regard—it works!"

Zarif, who was taught in the U.S., in reality, lauded Trump for before comments seen as forewarning birds of prey in his organization, who were empowering struggle.

The President "properly despises 'military-modern complex' pushing U.S. #ForeverWars," Zarif composed on Twitter.

He said Trump had permitted a "B-group" of associates driven by National Security Advisor John Bolton to "garbage strategy."

He blamed them for "draining tyrannical butchers using monstrous arms deals," an apparent reference to Iran's primary provincial adversary, Saudi Arabia, Washington's most significant arms purchaser.

Trump has fixed monetary assents against Iran, and his organization says it has developed the U.S. military nearness in the locale.

It blames Iran for presenting dangers to U.S. troops and interests. Tehran has denied this, portraying U.S. moves as "mental fighting" and a "political amusement."

England advised Iran on Monday not to belittle the purpose of the U.S., cautioning that on the off chance that American interests were assaulted, at that point the Trump organization would strike back.

The outside pastor of Oman, a Gulf Arab express that in the past helped make ready for dealings among Iran and the U.S., visited Tehran on Monday.

Yousuf receptacle Abdullah tended to local and worldwide issues with Zarif, Iranian state news organization IRNA stated, without explaining.

Citing an authority at the Natanz enhancement plant, the semi-official Tasnim said Iran was quickening the rate at which it refines uranium to 3.67 percent fissile immaculateness, appropriate for nonmilitary personnel atomic power age.

The move came two weeks after Iran, acting after Trump reimposed sanctions went for obstructing all Iranian oil fares to disable its economy, pronounced it would downsize a few duties under the understanding it marked with six world forces.

Under the 2015 arrangement, the Islamic Republic was permitted to reserve a limit of 300 kg of low-improved uranium, and ship any abundance out of the nation for capacity or deal.

Iran said for the current month that top never again connected because of the partial U.S. withdrawal from the arrangement.

Trump has denounced the agreement, marked by his ancestor Barack Obama, as imperfect for not being lasting and for not covering Iran's ballistic rocket program and job in clashes around the Middle East.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, the representative for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, revealed to Tasnim that the UN nuclear guard dog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), had been informed about the move to venture up the advancement rate fourfold.

"Soon we pass the 300-kg farthest point of low enhanced uranium. So it's better for the opposite side to do what it's important to be done," Kamalvandi stated, implying ventures by different forces to shield Iran's economy from U.S. sanctions.

He said the increasing speed of Iran's axis improvement machines stayed inside the limits of the atomic arrangement, and Tehran had no goal to leave the agreement.

It was not clear how far Iran's present supply of low-enhanced uranium was from the 300-kg limit.

Under the arrangement, Iran may enhance uranium to 3.67 percent virtue – far underneath the 90 percent of weapons-grade, and furthermore beneath the 20 percent dimension to which Iran refined uranium before the arrangement.

Iran has compromised that in 60 days it would continue advancement past the 3.67 percent level except if remaining signatories of the arrangement – Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany – figure out how to shield its essential oil and banking parts.

The Eiffel Tower has been evacuated and closed after a man was seen climbing up its side.

Photos shared on social media shows a man scaling the building from the side. He had climbed as high as the observation deck at the top of the tower when his photograph was taken.

The first two floors of the tower in Paris, France, can be reached by lift or stairs, but to go higher than that visitors need to get a lift. However, this man seemed to ignore both options and chose to scale the building instead.

An Eiffel Tower spokeswoman confirmed the incident to Reuters, saying: "The man entered the tower normally and started to climb once he was on the second floor."

The Eiffel Tower has been evacuated and closed as a result of the incident. The company that operates the landmark confirmed this.

An official told AFP news agency that they were following "standard procedure", while police and specialist firefighters rushed to the scene.

The official said: "A climber has been spotted. We have to stop the person, and in that case we evacuate the tower."

Tourists visiting the popular Parisian landmark were told to postpone their visits and the streets surrounding the landmark were also placed on lockdown.

Police are said to have made contact with the unidentified climber, but it is unclear what his motivation was.

Pastor Samson Farounbi: 'My Wife Denies Me Sex Over My Small Joystick'

My wife denies me sex over my micro pen-is – Pastor tells court

Quote:Pastor Samson Farounbi, has told an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi, in Ibadan, that the small size of his joystick made his estranged wife to deny him sex for a long period.

Farounbi disclosed this on Monday when testifying before the court on a case of divorce he instituted against Tope Farounbi.

He had requested the court to end the 19-year-old union on the grounds of unrest of mind, threat to life and lack of respect for his family.

Narrating his ordeals, the Pastor said his wife, who was a fruit seller, used to return home at late hours every day and refused to have sex with him.

”There was a day I challenged her why she always return late and denying me sex.

”She confessed that the small size of my joystick was responsible for keeping late outside and for refusing to have sex with her.

”She suggested to buy local herb for the treatment of my micro joystick which cost N5,000 but I priced it down to N4,000.

”I got myself treated with the ‘Agbo'(local herb) but she still felt reluctance to allow me have access to her body,” he narrated.

The pastor further alleged that the defendant maltreated his mother when she was living with him and that the ill-treatment forced his aged mother to relocate to Ilesha where she died few months later.

He told the court that Tope used to curse every member of his family and always cursed his blood brothers when they visited him.

”My lord, she is a devil, always fighting people especially females, that come to my church for prayer, accusing me of flirting with them.

”We have never stayed beyond two years in every house I rented since we married 19 years ago due to her stubbornness and troublesome character.

”The five children of our union lack home training and always cursing me whenever I tried to correct any of the kids for doing wrong things.

”In fact, our first child has ran away from home now and I cannot even locate his whereabouts.

”I urge the court to separate us so that I can have peace of mind to do my pastoral work,” he pleaded.

In her defence, Tope denied all the allegations but urged the court to dissolve the marriage as requested by the plaintiff.

She accused her husband of womanising, saying he never care for her welfare but was in the habit of drinking alcohol.

The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun and the two court assessors, Chief Wahab Popoola and Chief Alao Ganiyu, in their unanimous decision dissolved the marriage.

Balogun said the court was handicapped to settle the dispute between the parties because the couple had agreed to end the marriage.

He ordered that three kids that are males including the first born that ran away should be in the custody of the plaintiff while the remaining two daughters should remain with the defendant.

He further directed the plaintiff to pay N8,000 monthly allowance for the upkeep of the two kids in the defendant custody.

He admonished the parties to refrain from fomenting trouble or disturb public peace. (NAN)

Boko Haram/herdsmen: Ethnic Nationalities Regroup To Defend Territories
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2019, 07:25 AM - No Replies

A coalition of cultural groups in Nigeria under the aegis of Ethnic Nationalities Defence Organisation on Sunday birthed in Abuja with the resolve to protect, defend and retaliate any affront against ethnic nationalities or their territories.

The organisation said it had since realised that Boko Haram and Fulani militia were “brothers in arms against the ethnic nationalities of Nigeria in a brazen land-grabbing and expansionist Fulani jihad.”

“We call on all ethnic nationalities to form their defence groups or militia or be ready to lose their ancestral lands after being killed as cowards and chickens in the hands of either the compromised Nigerian Army or Fulani militia and terrorists.

“Ours is an eye for an eye and 10 for one. Let’s see, who has the monopoly of violence. Ours is non-negotiable until the evil against all ethnic nationalities by government and Fulani herdsmen militia is halted,” ENDO stated.

The organisation, in a statement by its President, David Maiyaki, Director Information/Strategy, Freedom Musa and Director of Operations, Nehemiah Maihaikali, warned the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari “or any governor against taking or giving any inch of ethnic nationalities land for Fulani cattle ranch or grazing.”

While suggesting that they should graze in their states of origin, ENDO advised that the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, should be ready to resettle in Katsina after his tenure as minister.

The statement read, “We have observed with sadness over the years and especially since the emergence of the Buhari administration the targeted annihilation of the ethnic minorities in Nigeria. We have since realised that both Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen militia are brothers in arms against the ethnic nationalities of Nigeria in a brazen land-grabbing and expansionist Fulani jihad.

“It is evident that Boko Haram and Fulani militia have not only infiltrated the government of Nigeria, but government is directly or indirectly aiding and supporting daily evil perpetrated against the ethnic nationalities.

“Government’s rebranding of terrorist and Fulani militia as hoodlums or criminal elements does not change who truly they are. There are evidence of military killer squads targeting ethnic nationalities apart from the recycling of released terrorists into the Nigerian security or Fulani militia.

“No matter how much you give the terrorists from our sovereign wealth to arm their armoury and mercenaries, they can never take our ancestral land and each of you will pay.”

 • Says govt will wade into VAT impasse

MINISTER of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has justified the need to carry on with the national carrier project, stating that the country deserves an airline that would have capacity and meet the yearnings of the people.

This is as he said government’s planned removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) from all shared transportation including commercial flights is still on the table as his ministry is liaising with relevant ministries to achieve the goal despite the status quo.
[Image: IMG-20190517-WA0004.jpg?resize=500%2C333&ssl=1]Minister of State (Aviation), Senator Hadi Sirika
Speaking at the 6th Stakeholders’ Forum 2019 held at Raddison Blu Ikeja Lagos, Sirika said a national carrier will boost development as according to him aviation growth is directly related to Gross Domestic Product ( GDP) growth and vice versa.

He said,” Some of the numbers that make a robust aviation industry is that it grows the nation’s Gross Domestic Product ( GDP). There are about US$ 450 billion annually to be made but now we hear from the United States Department of Agric that Nigeria is about US$950 billion annually.”

” Whether there is need for government to have a carrier, the answer is yes because we are yet to have a carrier that would meet the needs and yearnings of Nigerians.

“We must support all airlines already existing, whoever has an airline can count on government support but we want to build a carrier with capacity to surpass where other airlines are.

” When Nigeria Airways was flying, all the other carriers were really nowhere until it dies. Then we had Ethiopian come out, although it has been in existence longer, it came up of late recently we are having Rwanda, Ghana but believe me this( Nigeria ) is where the market is.
Sirika also reiterated why government is not merging Arik and Aero Airlines to form the national carrier stating that the volume of indebtedness in those airlines makes it unviable.

“The suggestion that Aero and Arik Airlines which are under the control of AMCON should be merged to form a National Carrier is not tenable as the National Carrier would get entangled with the huge indebtedness of the airlines and other encumbrances,” said Sirika.

According to the Minister on the removal of VAT, he expressed disappointment that it has taken this long, the Ministry is liaising with relevant MDAs to ensure the smooth implementation of the Presidential Order.

He said,”The one on VAT on transportation, we are working on it. As you know, it is not squarely in the hands of the Minister of Aviation and so we are working to ensure that it is done very soon because perhaps, it is only aviation that is charged VAT these days and government has reached an agreement that it should be removed and they are working out the modalities.

Exit seat regulation: Air Peace deplanes unruly passenger for noncompliance to safety

AIR PEACE has deplaned a passenger, Mr. Christopher Aniagboso from its Lagos-Owerri flight as the passenger intentionally aimed at disrupting the flight by flouting a safety regulation pertaining the exit row seat.

Explaining what transpired, Air Peace’s Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah said the carrier insisted that conducts with the potential of jeopardising the safety of its passengers and crew were not welcome on any of its flights.

The statement read: “Mr. Christopher Aniagboso had missed his morning Lagos-Owerri flight on May 12, 2019. He later showed up for the afternoon flight in good time and was issued an over-wing exit seat on request.

“After boarding, he was approached by a crew member for the normal safety briefing for passengers in the over-wing exit seats, but he suddenly claimed he could not understand English. Other passengers around him offered to translate to him, but he insisted that the crew must brief him in Igbo
.All you need to know about aircraft emergency exit seats

“When all efforts to have Mr. Aniagboso cooperate with the crew failed, the crew advised him to change his seat as the flight was already running late. He declined the advice to change his seat.

The captain of the flight, who was eventually briefed on the development, also did everything to secure Mr.
Aniagboso’s cooperation to no avail.
At this point, our crew members were left with no other alternative than to advise Mr. Aniagboso to disembark to enable the flight depart.

“It is important to state that only those who are able to clearly understand and express their willingness to perform their safety responsibility are allowed by aviation regulations to sit in the exit row. It is also clearly stated in the safety cards that only those who can speak English are allowed to sit in the exit row.

“Also, all through his interaction with our ground staff, Mr. Aniagboso communicated in fluent English. His claim of not being able to communicate in English at the point of the safety briefing was, therefore, only meant to disrupt and delay the flight.

“Air Peace takes pride in promoting the use of all local languages on board our flights without discrimination. We encourage our crew to speak the local language whenever it is possible to do so. But we do not allow passengers with ill motive to disrupt our flights and endanger the safety of our esteemed customers and crew.

“Conducts with the potential of jeopardising the safety of our esteemed customers and crew are not welcome on any of our flights.”

Federal Government on Monday appointed Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu as the new Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Until the recent appointment, the pilot with considerable industry experience was Director of Operstions, FAAN.

He replaces Saleh Dunoma , who had spent over three decades in the airport authority, before he was appointed many years ago.

Sources within the authority said the appointment has been received with mixed reactions from workers.

Yadudu entry according to industry watchers is another attempt by the outgoing Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika to entrench some interest in the sector.

Yadudu hails from Kano State, replacing Dunoma, who hails from Borno State.

In a statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Oublic Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Aviation, James Odaudu, the appointment takes immediate effect.

Three persons were said to have been abducted in the last couple of days along Aramoko-Erio-Efon road in Ekiti State.

The route extended to Osun border had become a beehive for criminals in recent time, where there had been reported cases of kidnapping, robbery and killings.
Among the abductees are Ibadan based twins; Kehinde and Taiwo Olowoafara, who were kidnapped by suspected herders at Aramoko Ekiti on Sunday.

Another victim and General Secretary of Christ’s School Alumni Association, Ado Ekiti, Mr. Ayo Oladele, was reportedly abducted on Saturday.
The policemen, families and friends of the victims are yet to know their locations while efforts were being intensified to ascertain where they were kept.
The abductors, according to a family source, were requesting a sum of N6 million each from the twins, totalling N12 million ransom to regain their freedom.

According to Oladele’s family, the kidnappers are demanding a sum of N10 million for him to be let off the hook.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, Mr Caleb Ikechukwu, said the incidents have been reported to the police.
Ikechukwu added that every resource was being deployed by the police to ensure that those that were held hostage are set freed.

“The command was aware of the kidnap incidents along that route. We have deployed all our resources particularly our personnel to be on the trail of these evil doers.
“We are doing our best to ensure we locate them and set them free.
” Our concern is to free them and also arrest these evil men and bring them to justice”.

When asked whether they are working in tandem with the victims’ families, the PPRO said: “That is not our concern. Even if the families fail to tell us, we must do our work since the police were aware”, he added.
When the activities of these kidnappers were becoming uncontrollable, soldiers were enlisted last year to comb the expansive forest between Efon and Iwaraja being used as a hideout.

Marketers Shutting Down Due To High Petrol Price —DAPPMAN
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2019, 04:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:Okechukwu Nnodim

Many oil marketers are closing shop as they are not making a profit due to the high cost of Premium Motor Spirit being sold to them by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria has said.

According to DAPPMAN, a lot of jobs have been lost due to the shutdown of businesses by oil marketers, adding that this may trigger a widespread petrol crisis in the sector if not handled adequately.

The association’s Executive Secretary, Olufemi Adewole, told our correspondent that the increase in the price of PMS by NNPC to DAPPMAN members from N111 per litre to N117 had put a severe strain on the operations of oil marketers.

“The increase from N111 per litre to N117 was done by the NNPC since over a year and marketers have been finding it tough, which is why most marketers are no longer in business. I have written letters several times that it should be reversed and that is why a lot of marketers are no longer importing,” he said.

Adewole stated that most marketers were not making a profit and when asked why they had remained in the business of PMS sale despite incurring losses, he replied, “There are margins for the dealer, retailer, etc, and it is from the addition of these margins that a depot owner works out his income.

“If those margins cannot cover my cost viz-a-viz landing cost of the product, that means it is not profitable. For instance, as of May 11, 2019, or around that time, the landing cost of PMS was over N200 per litre. Now you are telling me to bring in a product which sells above N200 and you want me to sell at N145.”

He added, “If that happens, who bears the cost of the difference between N200 and N145? These are the issues. Also, the foreign exchange concern is there, as the rate of the United States dollar is different when you check the official rate at the CBN and the unofficial rate out there.”

He stated that the government had refused to adjust the pump price of PMS despite increasing the prices which depot owners pay for the product.

Adewole said, “When we were buying it from them at N111 per litre, the pump price of PMS was N145 for a litre and when they increased it to N117, they still maintained that the pump price should be N145. Now, who bears that difference between N111 and N117?

“I want you to know that the number of marketers operating in the downstream sector has been decreasing annually since 2016. I’m not talking about people who just have offices, rather I mean petroleum product marketers who bring in or buy products and sell. This is why the sector should be deregulated.”

On whether marketers would vacate the petroleum product business should the government fail to deregulate the sector, the DAPPMAN executive said, “If I say 100 marketers were operating last year and now it is only 10 that are operating, where have the remaining 90 gone?”

Our correspondent further learnt from sources at the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria that many major oil dealers were also recording heavy losses. The major oil marketers in the sector include Forte Oil, Oando, Total, Conoil and MRS.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, said the corporation did not effect any recent increase on the ex-depot price of PMS and that there was no plan to increase the pump price of the product.

He, however, did not react to the claims by the marketers that they (marketers) were closing shop due to the high cost of the commodity to them.

Also when contacted, a senior official of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, told our correspondent that DAPPMAN members should confront the government with their demands in order to avoid a crisis in the sector.

He said, “The DAPPMAN people are not selling exactly the way it should be sold because the ex-depot price that they are meant to sell to us is supposed to be N133.28, but they are selling it at N133.4 and N133.5. What they pay for the product when buying from NNPC is not up to N120, although there are other things they do as well.

“However, if that cost from the NNPC is high for them, then they should meet the government about it, because as independent marketers, if we sell above N145, people will start complaining.

“So, if they know that they are not contented with the price, they should tell the government to give them the right price, not to pass it to us when we can’t sell above N145.”

There was jubilation in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Sunday following the arrest of a suspected deadly kidnapper and armed robber, Nzube Anagwu, popularly known as Italian.

Anagwu, 35, is said to be a member of the gang of the late kidnap kingpin, Johnson Igwedibia, popularly known as Don Wanny, who terrorised the people of Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa states before he was shot dead by security personnel in 2018.

A police source told our correspondent on Sunday that Anagwu, who had been on the wanted list of the police for a long time, was nabbed by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command at the Control Post roundabout in Owerri.

According to the source, victims of the suspect’s deadly activities have been trooping to the command headquarters to give testimonies about his activities.

Our correspondent gathered that other suspects in custody equally identified the suspect as a dreaded kidnapper.

Southern City News also learnt that on sighting the SARS personnel led by its Commander, Godfrey Victor, the suspect opened fire on them.

In the ensuing battle, the kidnap kingpin fell to the superior fire power of the SARS personnel.

Having sustained serious injuries during the gun duel with the police, Anagwu was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The police source stated, “SARS arrested one of the most notorious serial killers in recent time, Nzube Francis Anagwu, aka Italian, 35. He was the second-in-command to the late Johnson Igwedibia, aka Don Wanny, from Omoku in Rivers State.

“Anagwu made life unbearable for inhabitants of Rivers, Imo and Bayelsa states. As we speak, victims and relatives are coming to identify him at the station after the news broke about his arrest.

“During his arrest, he sustained gunshot injury on his left leg and multiple bruises on his face.”

The source added that a locally-made pistol with two unexpended and one expended cartridges were recovered as exhibits from the suspect.

“Because of the injuries he sustained, the suspect was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. Investigation into the heinous crimes he committed has begun. He is our biggest breakthrough in the state in the second quarter of the year,” the source noted.

Confirming Anagwu’s arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, said all the Tactical Units of the command had been activated to ensure that all criminals in the state were apprehend and made to face justice.

For those who are in Lagos, today is a wet day in the city of Lagos. The rain which started as early as 8am in some major parts of the state has its effects on some parts of the state, one of such areas is the Badagry Expressway. We are yet to come to terms how these folks will get to work and the miracle it will take to maneuver the bad roads in the rain.

According to Mr. John Adelowo, he said, If you plan to enroute LAGOS-BADAGRY EXPRESSWAY, I won't beg you to think twice.

Early today, residents of this area took to the street to protest the bad road of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and all they are saying is, rebuild this road and make life easy for us all.

These are images from the road... So pathetic...

PDP Governors Reject El-Rufai In 2-Man Race For NGF Chairman
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:PDP governors reject El-Rufai in two-man race for NGF chairman

Ahead of the election of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) chairman, there are indications that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors prefer their Ekiti State colleague, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai.

The seventh NGF poll will hold on Wednesday in Abuja.

El-Rufai may back out of the contest following talks among All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, The Nation learnt last night.

NGF has produced six chairmen in the last 20 years of the nation’s democracy.

They are: Alh. Abdullahi Adamu, (Nasarawa, 1999 – 2004), Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah (Akwa Ibom State, 2004 -2006), Chief Lucky Igbinedion (Edo, 2006 – 2007), Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (Kwara, 2007- 2011), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers, 2011 -2015) and Abdulaziz Yari (2015-2019).

The Southwest, the Northeast and the Southeast have not chaired the NGF.

Most PDP governors are said to be uncomfortable with El-Rufai because of his derision of the opposition and hardline on some national issues, especially from the religious perspective.

El-Rufai is seen by some PDP governors as one of the architects of the defeat of the opposition party in the last general elections.

The governors will attend their last National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday. They will use the opportunity to elect a new chairman.

A PDP governor said: “We have decided not to support El-Rufai as the next chairman of the NGF because his temperament is not good enough for this office. He is a courageous, brilliant and smart individual but if he leads NGF, his caustic comments can create discontent among us.

“Also, he has a headmaster instinct, which does not fit into a forum where we are all colleagues. Since Fayemi has indicated interest, we prefer him as a moderate.”

Another PDP governor said: “The Kaduna governor does not care a hoot about PDP, a party which provided him the opportunity to climb up leadership positions. He has derided us during the campaign; we will pay him back in his own coin.

”The outgoing NGF chairman, Abdulaziz Yari, has set a template of dialoguing with the Presidency for interventions, including the latest N649.43billion and we need another governor who can continue.

“We don’t want any NGF chairman who will use the forum as a platform for 2023 general elections. We respect el-Rufai, but we won’t give him this opportunity.”

As at press time, there were indications that el-Rufai might back out of the race because of the ongoing talks among APC governors.

An outgoing APC governor said: “We want to go into the NGF election united, unlike the case in 2011 when we had a split among ourselves. The APC governors are already building consensus too around Fayemi.

“The ongoing talks may lead to the withdrawal of el-Rufai from the race, more so a governor from Northwest has just ended his tenure as NGF chairman. Equity demands that the office should be conceded to another geopolitical zone.

“I think the candidature of Fayemi is more acceptable to both APC and PDP caucuses. He is also a ranking governor in our midst.”

Magu- EFCC Is Investigating Rochas Okorocha
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2019, 02:40 PM - No Replies

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that it is investigating Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. Acting chairman of the anti-graft agency, Mr Ibrahim Magu, affirmed this during an exclusive interview with Channels Television in London.

Asked if an investigation is ongoing regarding the governor, he responded, “definitely”. “Of course, we are doing a couple of checks and investigations here and there. We are investigating almost everybody,” the EFCC boss added. He noted that the commission has to get to a certain level before it can disclose any information about an ongoing investigation.

Mr Magu explained that this was necessary to prevent any action that can jeopardise or interfere with the process of the inquiry. According to him, Governor Okorocha is one of the many people being investigated by the commission. The EFCC boss said although he was aware of reports of the investigation on the social media, the details the anti-graft agency has was different from what was in the public space.

He, however, declined to disclose it. Magu is in the United Kingdom to meet with investigators assisting the Nigerian government in solving cases of money laundering and financial crimes. Recently, Governor Okorocha gave an indication that he was under the spotlight of the EFCC, saying he is the most investigated governor in the country.

Senate Presidency: PDP To Field Candidate If Goje Steps Down

Senators: Why we’re backing Lawan’s candidacy

Quote:By Onwuka Nzeshi and Chukwu DavidAbuja

There are indications that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will field a candidate for the 9th Senate Presidency contest, if Senator Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe Central) eventually fails to participate in the race.

Sources close to the Senate told New Telegraph at the weekend that the PDP has been monitoring direction of events, to see what would happen in the APC, with respect to who would contest as candidates of the ruling party before deciding on whether or not to participate in the race.

According to one of the sources, since Goje appears to be reluctant to publicly declare his interest in the Senate Presidency race for the next Assembly, the opposition party is waiting for the right time to take appropriate decision on the matter.

The source hinted that the PDP had not been definitive on whether or not it would field a candidate because the party’s intention has been to support Goje to emerge the next President of the Senate by giving him block vote.

“Don’t rule out the possibility of PDP fielding a candidate to contest with the APC candidate. However, everything is dependent on who is coming out from the APC. If Goje fails to contest, I can tell you that the PDP will field a candidate because it is Goje that the opposition party is backing.

“As it stands now, the picture is not very clear as to whether or not Danjuma Goje is going to contest because it is expected that he should have declared his intention by now. But I know that he is interested, but at the same time he is afraid that if he declares intention to run, the anti-graft agencies may come after him because he is having a pending case with the EFCC.

“The PDP can spring surprises. If Goje finally backs out, the PDP is likely going to field somebody to contest that office, and their chances are bright. I think they secured about 40 seats in the Senate during the last general election. And, as you know, it is only simple majority that is required to elect a Senate President. If the opposition works very hard, they can get 13 or so members of the APC to support their candidate, and that will give them victory,” the source said.

It will be recalled that the PDP won 43 seats out of the 109 senatorial seats in the Senate while the APC has 64, YPP has one, while one seat for Imo North is yet to be declared as the matter is pending in court.

Sources say that the PDP is more comfortable with Goje because he is perceived to be more independent minded than Lawan.

New Telegraph learnt that, just as Lawan has been lobbying the PDP senators-elect for support, the PDP chieftains are also working hard to get support from the APC senators-elect, with which to give their preferred candidate victory during June inauguration.

It was further learnt that the chances of the PDP to produce the next President of the Senate would be brighter, if Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) refuses to step down for Lawan.

“If Ndume contests, it means that he will split the votes of the ruling party, and therefore make it an easy ride for the opposition candidate to emerge victorious because the PDP senators-elect will cast their votes in block for their candidate,” a source said.

Meanwhile, the Ahmad Lawan for Senate Presidency Campaign has debunked insinuations that the ambition of the Senate Leader to become the next Senate President was the product of some godfathers and puppet masters in the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) whose desire is to emasculate the National Assembly.

Chairman of the campaign, Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi, who made the clarification at a media interaction in Abuja, said that contrary to the insinuations in certain quarters, Lawan was not imposed as a candidate, but a choice of his colleagues who believe in his leadership capacity.

Abdullahi, who led other members of his campaign team to the interaction, disclosed that they chose to support Lawan’s candidature because of his educational background, leadership qualities and cognate experience in the legislature.

According to him, the key motivation for their support was borne out of the need to have a leader who will work in harmony with the Executive arm of the government in the overall interest of Nigeria.

“We want you to know that Ahmad Lawan is our choice. It’s not a choice that was imposed on us either by the party or by the Presidency. What happened was that there was a concurrence of interests and a concurrence of vision.

“They must have done their homework like we did and found out that we need somebody with experience, somebody that is level headed and somebody who understands the independence of the legislature, but willing to work with the Executive to realise the dreams of Nigerians,” he said.

According to Abdullahi, the move to draft Lawan into the Senate Presidency race started with a meeting of some senators-elect a few days after the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The nucleus of the campaign team, he said, met with the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to intimate him about their desire to draft Lawan into the race.

According to him, the move was made because they were convinced that Lawan was the most qualified candidate for the position based on his education, competence and long years of service at the National Assembly.

“The first one is that he is the leader of the current Senate and normally in all democratic dispensations, after an election, if you don’t want too much rancour, you normally allow the leader of the caucus of the majority party to become the President of the Senate. It is actually a parliamentary tradition.

“The second reason is that when we look at the legislative experience of members of the National Assembly, the only person who could match Ahmad Lawan’s experience is David Mark and Mark is leaving the Senate. So, by the time we get into the next National Assembly, Ahmad Lawan will simply be the most experienced Senator in the National Assembly. I will say that given the instability of our democracy, the most experienced in legislature should lead us. He is simply the most experienced legislator now.

“The third plank of our support is the nature and character of the candidate.”

Abdulahi stated that it was after his group had started reaching out to other senators-elect that the leadership of the APC and the Presidency bought into the project.

Gov. Tambuwal blows hot over ‘plot to stop his second term inauguration’

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has vowed to resist any attempt to stop his inauguration for second term in office.
In a statement yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, the governor alleged of plots to cause political chaos in the state.
He said that certain individuals were spreading lies and creating confusion that the court was going to remove him from office and give power to the APC.
Tambuwal added that his posters along Birnin Kebbi Road, Maiduguri Road, Airport Road and some other areas within the metropolis had been removed and replaced with those of the APC governorship candidate.
Tambuwal stressed that only legal means could stop his government.

The statement reads, “Election is over, we have won the election and we have offered a hand of fellowship, we asked them to come so that we develop Sokoto State, they refused and went to court, why can’t they allow the court to pass its verdict?

“You can’t take your case to court and start making political noise and telling people lies when even the court has not started its own assignment.
“We are still in the process of pre-hearing, we didn’t even get to the time witnesses are called to testify on the election manipulation they alleged, yet they have started going round telling people lies, especially in the rural areas, they want to show that government is coming to them.”
The governor advised the opposition to allow the court to their work.

He continued, “PDP in Sokoto is not looking for any backdoor judgement. You allow the court to do what is needful, we have confidence in court because we won election with divine intervention.”

He called on law enforcement agencies in Sokoto to stop what he described as political rascality in Sokoto State.
“We don’t want any political crisis, we don’t want any tension in Sokoto, Sokoto people are peace-loving, we call on security agents to investigate and find out the sponsors of the political rascality in the state,” he said.

Imo: Don’t allow Okorocha collect Paris Club refund from Buhari govt – Group tells Ihedioha

The Imo Charter Forum, ICF, has urged the state’s incoming governor, Emeka Ihedioha to ensure that the balance of Paris Club refund due for the state is not released to the outgoing governor, Rochas Okorocha, whose tenure comes to an end in less than two weeks.

The supervising Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed had last week, on Thursday in Abuja, stated that states yet to collect their balance of the Paris Club debts refunds would soon be paid.
She had said about N649.434 billion has been released for the final phase of the Paris Club debts refunds, adding that the total sum was verified by the Ministry as the outstanding balance to be paid to the state governments.

The Minister assured that states with outstanding balances of the refund would be paid in due course.
Reacting to the development, ICF in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Hon. Zebulon Nwariri, said while it welcomed the “announcement of the refunds with open arms, if the fund is released to the outgoing governors, they would find excuses to spend it on frivolities or even divert it to private coffers.”
ICF an umbrella body of different associations and stakeholders on governance and welfare of Imo State, stated that the previous releases of such funds have not been duly accounted for by some of the governors.

The Forum stated that the “case of Okorocha was peculiar, as the state under his rule presently owes workers and pensioners, several month salaries and pensions, the same with local contractors who executed jobs but have not been paid despite many of such Paris Club refunds and huge internally generated revenue.”
ICF urged the Federal Government to “wait for the incoming governors to be inaugurated so that the money would serve as their take-off grant, in view of the fact that many of them would be inheriting empty treasuries from the out-going ones.”
The statement reads: “We welcome the news by the Federal Government that the last tranche of Paris Club refund has been released. For us, this would serve as take-off grant for some of the incoming governors, most of who would be inheriting empty treasuries from the out-going governors.

“The case of Imo state is peculiar because Governor Rochas Okorocha has no respect for accountability and
due process with finances and has always seen the money belonging to Imo State as his personal resource.
“The Federal Government may need to be reminded that Rochas is owing workers over six months of unpaid
salaries, the same with pensioners and contractors. This is in spite of the fact the state rakes in much revenue from
internal revenue streams, in addition to the huge releases in the past from the same Paris Club refunds.
“We, therefore, urge the incoming governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to do whatever is legally possible to safeguard Imo State’s share of the latest refunds by making sure that the money is not released to Rochas before he lives office in a few days from now. He must ensure that the money does not go into the hands of out-going governor Rochas Okorocha as they say that prevention is better than cure.”

The Oyo State wing of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) today (Monday) commenced an indefinite strike due to delay in payment of salaries of primary school teachers and other requests.

The union said the strike became necessary due to the inability of the state government to meet its demands.
DAILY POST recalls that NUT had last week, issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Oyo State Government to clear and settle the backlogs of salaries owed its members.

The union, while lamenting over unpaid salaries of primary school teachers, gave the state government 72 hours notice or go on indefinite strike if the situation is not reversed.
NUT Chairman, Comrade Z.T Adedoyin and Secretary, Comrade N.M. Abdullahi, in a joint statement issued after a meeting of the union, lamented over complementary allowances of promotions of the teachers.
The union also listed issues worrying the members of the union as non-implementation of the approval and accompany promotion benefits to the primary school teachers by the Oyo State Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC), delay in payment of salary to primary school teachers, delay in the promotion of grade level 14 to 15, continued withholding of 2018 leave grant and delay in the clearance of teachers allegedly accused of illegal promotion.

The teachers said that they were commencing the strike today because, efforts made by the state government to persuade the teachers, met brick walls.
DAILY POST gathered that the state government had invited the leaders of the union to a parley on May 15 but no deal was reached.
The NUT acknowledged that its leadership met with the state Head of Service and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on May 15 during which both government functionaries made passionate appeal to them to shelve the proposed strike.

The union, however, but stated that their appeal could not change anything because none of their demands was met.
The teachers are downing tools over delay in the promotion of primary school teachers from salary grade level 14 to 15, as well as delay in payment in payment of salary of primary school teachers.

Customs: Rice smuggling our biggest nightmare, frustration

Nigerian Customs Service said it has identified the unabated rice smuggling in the country as the biggest challenge threatening its operational competence. Controller General of Customs, Hameed Ali, who disclosed this, stated that the growing concerns of the Service is not just the continued loss of revenues for local rice producers, but the health implication of eating the unhealthy smuggled rice.

Ali, who spoke in Abuja when the Federal Ministry of Finance held a world Press conference, noted that though, rice smuggling has not overwhelmed the Customs but its dimension was becoming too frustrating for his men.

“Rice smuggling is the biggest challenge we have in Nigerian Customs today. And this happens because Nigerians also consume this rice. Rice smuggling is an issue that we have been trying to address and that is why we recreated and enlarged our task force to fight rice smuggling”, he said.

While he insisted that the Customs have not issued any licence to anybody to import rice into the country, he affirmed that any rice found in Nigerian market that is not locally  produced was smuggled. He went further to express fears that Nigerians have continued ignorantly to pay for their untimely death, as the smuggled rice is ” very dangerous and poisonous ” for consumption.

He said:” We have not issued any licence for importation of rice. Any rice you see in the streets in Nigeria that is not produced here is smuggled. And the smugglers are succeeding with the assistance of our people. If we stop buying smuggled rice, certainly the smugglers will go out of business “.

Ali also expressed frustration that the service has done everything to educate Nigerians on the inherent dangers associated with foreign smuggled rice, and possibly discourage them from consuming it, but have not succeeded. According to him, the Customs has made some progress by arresting and prosecuting some of the ” big smugglers “.

FG restructuring financing arrangement for Nigeria Air – Sirika

Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika

Maureen Ihua-Maduenyi
The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, says the Federal Government is working on restructuring the financing arrangement for the national carrier as proposed by the Federal Executive Council.
Sirika said FEC had studied the Outline Business Case report of the project and directed that the financing arrangement should be restructured.

According to the minister, the cost profile for the project as outlined in the OBC report is an estimated funding requirement of $300m with initial start-up capital of $55m as working capital for aircraft leases and deposit for new aircraft; an estimated $100m and $145m working capital for 2019 and 2020 respectively, to be provided by the strategic equity partners who are expected to manage the project.
“The consortium comprising Airline Management Group Limited, Avia Solutions Limited and Tianaero FZE had completed the Outline Business Case Report and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission reviewed the report and issued OBC Certificate of Compliance. The report had been considered by the Federal Executive Council and the financing arrangement is being restructured in line with FEC’s directive,” the minister said.
He explained that the ministry would restructure the financing arrangements in a manner acceptable to both the government and prospective investors for the take-off of the airline.
He added that apart from commitments in respect of transaction advisory services, design of logo and participation at Farnborough Air Show in London, no other expenditure had been incurred on the Nigeria Air project.
Sirika, who spoke at the 6th stakeholders’ forum, in Lagos, said the fear that the national carrier would go the way of Nigeria Airways had been addressed by the conditions stipulated on the Compliance Certificate issued by ICRC.
He stated that while infrastructure remained necessary for the emergence of a hub, the establishment of a national carrier would give impetus to the development of a hub in Nigeria, adding that almost all hubs had national or strong carriers.
He said the project was not experiencing investor apathy as many international financial institutions, reputable airlines and private entrepreneurs had indicated interest to invest in it.
He said, “No domestic airline has evolved to fill the vacuum left by Nigeria Airways since it ceased to operate more than 15 years ago due largely to wrong business models, low capitalisation and poor governance structure. Only 28 out of Nigeria’s Bilateral Air Service Agreement with 83 countries are active.

“Nigeria Air will give impetus to the emergence of Nigeria as a hub for the West and Central Africa and promote reliable air transport services. It will also support the growth of the aviation industry and domestic airlines through infrastructure expansion, traffic/routes expansion and manpower development associated with the national carrier.”

Equities market close week with marginal gain of 0.08%

•MTN shares adds 21% in 2 sessions

Equities trading on The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) received renewed vigour as it welcome the shares of the MTN Nigeria into its Premium Board, thus reversing negative sentiments.
At the end of the week, the NSE All Share Index closed at 28,871.93 basis points, up 0.08 per cent. Hence, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date losses moderated slightly to 1.0 per cent and 8.1 per cent, respectively.

It took only two trading sessions for MTNN to solely reverse Nigeria’s equities market fortune in the week. MTNN was listed on the Nigeria’s premium board on Thursday and immediately flexed its influence on the market. Being the second largest capitalized company after Dangote Cement, the stock returned 21per cent after two sessions, thus, effectively wiping off losses from the prior sessions.

16 equities appreciated in price during the week, lower than 18 in the previous week. 42 equities depreciated in price, lower than 49 equities of the previous week. 109 equities remained unchanged, higher than 101 equities recorded in the preceding week.

On sectorial performance, all sector indices closed in the red, with the Banking (-4.31%) index leading the pack, followed closely by the Consumer Goods (-4.13%), Industrial Goods (-3.88%), Insurance (-3.35%), and Oil & Gas (-2.32%) indices.

Looking into the new week, analysts at Cowry Asset, expect the local equities market to close marginally in green territory as the euphoria of the listing of the telecoms giant is likely to be sustained.

“More so, we expect investors to take advantage of the general low share prices in the market, especially in the banking sector, in order to maximize their reture,” they advise.

SEC warns against Ponzi scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, has raised the alarm over the activities of some online fraudsters, who are currently running an online investment scheme tagged ‘Loom Money Nigeria’.
Loom Money Nigeria, is taking over social media by targeting young people to participate in a pyramid scheme.
The warning was given by Acting Director General of the SEC, Ms. Mary Uduk during a press conference by the Minister of Finance in Abuja.

Uduk, who was represented by Acting Executive Commissioner, Operations of the SEC, Mr Isyaku Tilde said the fraudsters, carry out their illegitimate business activities via social media platforms like Facebook and whatsapp luring young Nigerians to invest as low as N1000 and N13,000 and get as much as 8 times the value of the investment in 48 hours.

Uduk said the venture had no tangible business model, describing it as a Ponzi scheme, where returns would be paid from other people’s invested funds.
“We are aware of the activities of an online investment scheme tagged ‘Loom Money Nigeria’. The platform has embarked on an aggressive online media campaign on Facebook and whatsapp to lure the investing public to participate by joining various Loom whatsapp groups to invest as N1000 and N13,000 and get as much as 8 times the value of the investment in 48 hours.

“Unlike MMM that had a website and the promoter known, the people promoting Loom are not yet known and this pyramid scheme operates through closed groups mainly on Facebook and Whatsapp. If it were a local Ponzi scheme with known offices, it would be very easy for the Commission to seal their offices and freeze their accounts.

“We therefore wish to notify the investing public that the operation of this investment scheme has no tangible business model hence it’s a Ponzi scheme, where returns are paid from other people’s invested sum. Also, its operation is not registered by the Commission.”

Uduk, therefore, advised the general public to distance themselves from the scheme, adding, “Please note that anyone that subscribes to this illegal activity does so at their own risk.”
She also assured that an inter-agency committee, Financial Services RegulationCoordinating Committee (FSRCC) is working on the issue, while also collaborating with security agencies to shut them down.

A Ponzi scheme is an investment fraud that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by new investors.
The Loom Pyramid Scheme is not new to the world. Last month, Daily Mail UK reported that the scheme has resurfaced online all over the world, with different names such as ‘loom circle’, ‘fractal mandala’ and ‘blessing loom’. In Nigeria, its central name is Loom Money Nigeria with individuals creating their own WhatsApp groups such as Jack Loom, Catherine Loomamong others.

On regularization of Multiple Accounts by investors, Uduk said the process is still on-going and urged affected investors to do so before the deadline.
“The Capital Market Community has opened a forbearance window to allow investors with multiple subscriptions/applications to public offers to regularize these subscriptions under a single account name. Investors who provide sufficient proof of ownership will be permitted to regularize their accounts into one. There is absolutely no punishment attached to it, the SEC is not punishing anybody, we just want such individuals to come and regularize that transaction between now and 31st December 2019” she stated.

Uduk said the objective of doing that is that it will increase liquidity in the market and the investors can also claim the dividends for their investments.
“The shares are just there no trading on them, not only that, the investors cannot claim their dividends too and that increases unclaimed dividend. Let them come and regularize so that there will be increase in trading of those shares, and they will also claim their dividends so that the balance of unclaimed dividends will also go down.” She added

Daily Devotional for Monday 20th May

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 20TH MAY.

THE INWARD MAN: THE REAL YOU

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price (1 Peter 3:4).

In 2 Corinthians 4:16, Paul clearly distinguishes between the outward man and the inward man when he said, “ For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” The one Peter calls the “hidden man of the heart” in our opening verse is the same the Apostle Paul calls the “inward man.”

The outward man is the physical body and its five senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. These senses are man’s medium for relating with his environment. The human body can only receive information from this world through its five senses. The inward man, however, is the human spirit and his soul; the seat of his mind, will, and emotions.

The “inward man” is the real you. He’s not seen with the natural eyes, because he’s the “man within the man”; the real person living in the physical body. That’s the one who receives Christ’s salvation and relates with God. When you believed and confessed the Lordship of Jesus, it wasn’t your body (the outward man) who was reborn; it was your inward man—your human spirit.

When you speak, it’s the inward man that talks through your mouth; he’s the one expressing himself through your physical body. That’s why it’s so important that a man is born again. Being born again is the recreation of the inward man—the human spirit—to become God’s dwelling place; His holy tabernacle.

Too many are more concerned about what’s going on in their bodies, the outward man, not realizing that they’re indeed spirit beings. The premium should be on training and educating your inward man because that’s the person and character of your being.

The Bible says, “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly” (Proverbs 20:27). The Lord relates with your spirit in leading and guiding you; He contacts you through your spirit, the inward man. At least one person was killed and 17 others abducted when gunmen attacked some communities in Kaduna State on Sunday.

The church attack was carried out on the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) while the villages affected are Dankande and Dogon Dawa in Birnin Gwari local government area and Guguwa-Kwate village and Rigasa area in Igabi local government area of the state.

In Dankande, a witness said over 20 gunmen surrounded a church where a choir rehearsal was going on.

Quote:The witness said, “It was at about 12:30 midnight. We had a combined choir practice in the church with other neighbouring communities. We normally hold  the combine choir practice from 9:00pm to 1:00am.
As we were in the church, the armed men numbering over 20 just surrounded the church and started shooting. Everybody was terrified but there was no how we could run because they had already surrounded the church.”

A community leader in Guguwa-Kwate said his elder brother's son was in the church when the gunmen struck.

“They entered one house and  were beating people. They kidnapped one man and a woman in the house. The killed my senior brother’s son. This is the fifth time these bandits are invading our community. About two months ago, they abducted two people in the farm” he said.

Fg’s Security Allegations Against Us Diversionary –PDP
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2019, 09:18 AM - No Replies

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said allegations by the Federal Government, that it is orchestrating a security breach in the country, alongside its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are diversionary tactics.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, yesterday, said government is desperate to play the victim, so as to conceal alleged manipulation of the 2019 presidential poll.

The opposition party said the recent Facebook revelation, detailing alleged disinformation by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s handlers and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election exposes them as “schemers and real enemies” of the country’s democracy and national cohesion.

It stated that the Facebook revelation has exposed the APC as “a fraudulent and violent-loving party, whose divisive activities are now directly threatening the security stability of our nation.

“Indeed, the Buhari Presidency and the APC should hide their faces in shame as Nigerians have seen that their professed sanctimony and ‘holier-than-thou’ claims are mere masquerading.

“Our party notes that there are more damning revelations against the APC, not only on its rigging of the general election, but also, on how it is working against our nation, which will come to light at the appropriate time. The APC, which engaged in manipulation to foist itself, will do anything, no matter how vile, to sustain itself in office, not minding the social, economic and collateral damages such could cause our dear nation.

“It is, however, to say the least, despicable that, in their desperation to hold on to power at all costs, president Buhari’s handlers and the APC engaged in this sneaky disinformation, internet lies and smear campaigns against PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.”

The party noted that it is unpardonable that instead of owning up, the federal government and the ruling party, through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, seek to cover their tracks and divert public attention by making unsubstantiated security allegations against it and Atiku.

Regardless, last Saturday, the minister accused the PDP and Atiku of doing everything possible to sabotage the Buhari administration, overheat the polity and make Nigeria seemingly ungovernable.

The minister, who spoke during the 12th annual Ramadan lecture in his Oro countryhom,e in Kwara State, claimed that the opposition party colluded with “anti-democratic forces and dead-enders” to fan the embers of violence in the country.

He added: “As you are aware, a few days ago, we raised the alarm that either by themselves or via their proxies, the PDP and it’s presidential candidate are doing everything possible to sabotage the Buhari administration, generally overheat the polity and make Nigeria seemingly ungovernable. Of course, you are aware of similar alarms that have been raised by the police, the military and the DSS.

“Our interventions are based on credible evidence and no government with the kind of evidence that we have, of plans to subvert the power of the state, attack the nation’s economic live wire and generally unleash mayhem on the polity, will keep quiet.

“The security agencies are all alert to their responsibilities and will not sit by and allow anyone to reverse the gains of our democracy under any guise.”

20 Killed As Fulani Herdsmen In Enugu, Ukpabi Nimbo Community
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2019, 09:14 AM - No Replies

About 20 persons in Ukpabi Nimbo, an agrarian community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, were feared dead during an attack by Fulani herdsmen on Monday.

It was learnt that scores of armed cattle herdsmen, reportedly numbering more then a hundred, swooped on the sleepy community in the early hours of Monday.

Sources in the community disclosed that continuous gunshots were heard as the rampaging herdsmen moved to sack villagers from their homes.

Apart from guns, bows and arrows and machetes, or swords, were also wielded by the herdsmen, it was learnt.

Many of the villagers escaped to neighboring communities in the Uzo-Uwani area, but it was gathered that people in the nearby towns are also worried about possible attacks from the herdsmen.

A police source told our correspondent that, as of the time of filing this report, the corpses of five persons who died in the attack had been recovered.

Our correspondent learnt that the corpses, which were deposited at the morgue in Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, were recovered from farmlands.

There were indications that more bodies would be recovered, as our correspondent learnt that the combined team of police and military personnel, who moved into the community to repel the attack, were yet to get to all the affected areas.

Also, sources in the Ukpabi Nimbo community insist more than 20 of their kith and kin were killed before rescue could come.

However, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who informed to our correspondent that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, led other officers and men to the area, said the total number of casualties could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

Amaraizu, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the situation in the community had been brought under control.

“We moved in to ensure that the situation did not degenerate beyond control and right now everything is under control.

“The Commissioner of Police is there with other officers and men and the area is being secured.

“We can’t give the total number of casualties yet, it is when the operation is concluded that we will collate figures and give a definite number,” Amaraizu said.

Many members of the Ukpabi Nimbo community, who are mostly farmers, have their homes around their farmlands.

It was gathered that several houses, as well as farms and crops, were also destroyed by the herdsmen.

Our correspondent learnt that the herdsmen had previously fallen out with the villagers over their grazing activities in the community.

Sources in the community disclosed that the villagers had been resisting the use of their farmlands as grazing fields by the herdsmen.

It was equally learnt that the situation further degenerated after some herdsmen who operate in Ukpani Nimbo and other communities in the Uzo-Uwani area claimed that their cows were missing.

There were also claims by the herdsmen that some of their colleagues were killed in the area.

The villagers alleged that most of the herdsmen that were involved in Monday’s attack were ‘imported’ from Nasarawa State by other Fulani herdsmen who were already operating in Enugu.

Our correspondent gathered that, before the herdsmen struck on Monday, there was tension in Ukpabi Nimo and other communities in the Uzo-Uwani area over widespread rumour that about 500 herdsmen were mobilising to attack them.

It was learnt that the villagers, in anticipation of an imminent attack by herdsmen, had alerted the Enugu State Government, and the leadership of the Enugu State Police Command.

According to sources, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Cornell Onwubuya, who was said to have informed the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the police commissioner, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, of the fears nursed by villagers, also met the leadership of the Hausa-Fulani community in the area over the matter.

Interestingly, the rumoured planned attack by 500 herdsmen was the subject of an emergency stakeholders meeting in the Uzo-Uwani area council during the weekend, hours before the herdsmen struck.

The meeting, reportedly, also deliberated on incessant herdsmen-related problems in the area, including several cases of murder, kidnappings and rape recorded in the recent past.

At the meeting, Onwubuya, chairman of the Uzo-Uwani local council, reportedly disclosed that some leaders of the Hausa-Fulani community had confirmed the rumoured plan by the herdsmen to launch an attack in the area.

Also at the said emergency stakeholders meeting, leaders of the Hausa-Fulani community in Enugu reportedly assured that they would take urgent steps to avert the planned attack.

However, the attack still went ahead, as planned, despite the prior notice given to the authorities, and the assurances given at the stakeholders meeting.

MTN Nigeria Sells At N125 Per Share In Off-market Deals
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2019, 09:11 AM - No Replies

Investors appeared to be willing to pay more than the 10 per cent daily premium on the share price of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc. While the share price of the telecommunications company rose again by 10 per cent at the weekend to N108.90 at the open market at Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), investors went into off-market negotiations to buy the stock at N125 per share.

A transaction note at the weekend indicated that nine deals were struck for 16.26 million ordinary shares of 2.0 kobo each of MTN Nigeria at N125 per share at the negotiated dealing window of the NSE.

The negotiated deals were struck at 14.78 per cent premium to the closing price of N108.90. Under the rules at the open market at the NSE, the maximum daily allowable price change is set at 10 per cent.

As off-market, negotiated cross deals, it means that the deals were not subjected to the dynamics of price discovery for the particular period. Off-market trade implied that the deals were previously negotiated and only sealed through the transfer portal of the Exchange.
The negotiated cross deal platform of the Exchange is a special-purpose trading platform that is meant for voluminous transaction. By the cross deal, it implies that the buyer and the seller had been prearranged and the transfer at the stock market was a mere perfection of the agreement between the two. The negotiated cross deal allows the parties to the deal to close the deal at reduced cost.

MTN Nigeria Communications rose by the maximum daily allowable price gain of 10 per cent on Friday, chalking up a whooping N201.47 billion capital gains in second day of trading at the stock market. MTN Nigeria on Thursday listed by way of introduction 20.35 billion ordinary shares at N90 per share.

MTN Nigeria’s share price, which rose by 10 per cent or N9 on Thursday, also rose by the same maximum percentage on Friday, adding N9.90 to close now at N108.9 per share. With the ongoing rally, MTN Nigeria has gained N384.62 billion in two days, pushing its market value from initial listing value of N1.83 trillion to N2.22 trillion. The off-market deal valued MTN Nigeria at N2.54 trillion, some N400 billion below Dangote Cement, the most capitalised quoted company. Many analysts believed that MTN Nigeria will overtake Dangote Cement as the most capitalised company at the Nigerian stock market this week.

Updated: FG to cite agro allied cargo terminal in Benin Airport, inaugurates remodeled Ibadan Airport Terminal

 • Benin Airport  upgraded to night flight operations

AS part of concerted efforts to stimulate economic activities around Edo state and its environs, Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has announced Federal Government’s plan to build an agro allied cargo terminal at Benin Airport.
This is just as Government has inaugurated the newly remodeled Ibadan Airport terminal building to reposition the air travel in the ancient city as well as the nation’s aviation industry.
Sen. Hadi Sirika disclosed all these during his tour of various airports to inspect ongoing and commission completed projects that the administration had embarked on since it got into power.
The Minister who arrived Benin today inaugurated the newly installed Category 2 (CAT2) Instrument Landing System at the airport alongside Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
According to him, government was committed to developing transport and airport infrastructure in Benin and the terminal was part of the government’s plan to promote economic growth through agriculture.
The Benin Airport can perform night flights and flights during low visibility with the installation of Precision Approach Lighting System and Instrument Landing System
“From now on, you have the Instrument Landing System which can allow pilots in reduced visibility and bad weather to be able to shoot on approach and land in Benin, just like they will do in London. And also, it is no longer closure from 6pm. The operational capability of the airport has improved with the installation of these equipment.”
“We will continue to do more for Benin and beside this we will cite the agro allied cargo terminal for benin and we will soon commence the civil work. And your excellency, the governor has promised that he will participate in putting the civil structures for us to build that facility here to begin to export out of Benin.
“We have been exporting before out of Benin especially the culture, they have been stealing the artifacts but with this we will be producing things and be exporting out of Benin. From now on you have the ILS that which can allow pilots in reduced visibility, in bad weather to be able to approach and land just like they do in London.
Governor Obaseki who also spoke said that the benefit of having up to date equipment at the airport was enormous for the state.
He commended the federal government and the aviation agencies for their commitment to transforming Edo into an air transportation hub in the country.
“Today, history is being made in so many perspectives in the sense that one, we are not just unveiling the key technologies for our airport, but we are celebrating a very unique privilege and honour for a state like Edo State to collaborate very closely with federal government agency.
“We also want to thank the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) who work very closely and tirelessly with us in the last one to one and half-year to make sure that we upgrade this airport.
“We believe as a government that we are very uniquely placed as a state. Edo is a hub.
“You cannot go from the western part of this country to the east or south without going through Edo state.
“We know by nature that transportation mode, we have land transportation and now we want to make sure that our air transportation is up to par.
“The reason why we insisted as a government that we must upgrade our airport is that Benin Airport is one of the top five airports in terms of passenger traffic in Nigeria and we believe we can do more.
“With the night landing system we can now convince airlines to do night landing in Benin,” he said.
According to the governor, the decision of the government to give Edo a cargo terminal, will help the people to begin to transport their produce like pineapples.
He added that the cargo airport would be a boost to the state government’s plan to industrialize Edo in a very short time.
The Minister who earlier arrived Ibadan Airport to inaugurate the  remodeled terminal building described Ibadan Airport, “What Kaduna is to the north, what Enugu is to the southeast and Benin to the South-south is what Ibadan is to the southwest in terms of trade and commerce and even their traditional culture and financial system.
[Image: IMG-20190519-WA0034.jpg?resize=500%2C333&ssl=1]Renovated Ibadan Airport
“The city of Ibadan is the premier city in West Africa and it is a revered city.
“It is against this backdrop that the Federal Government decided to rehabilitate and remodel this terminal building and other associated works within the airport like the fence.
“It is an honour and privilege to commission this project in the name of Allah the most beneficent and merciful,” he said.

'Boko Haram has gone beyond FG’s capacity' - Olusegun Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken on the high level of insecurity in the country, stating that the Federal Government alone cannot tackle the menace.

Speaking at the second session of the seventh Synod of the Anglican Communion, Oleh Diocese, in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Obasanjo called for greater collaborating among several African governments in tackling terrorism.

Quote:“Intelligence was poor and governments embarked on games of denials while paying ransoms which strengthened the insurgents and yet governments denied payment of ransoms. Today, the security issue has gone beyond the wit and capacity of Nigerian government or even West African governments,” he stated.
According to him, insecurity must be taken seriously at all levels and be addressed at once without favouritism or cuddling. He regretted that Boko Haram and herdsmen acts of violence were not treated as they should at the beginning.
Quote:“They have both incubated and developed beyond what Nigeria can handle alone. They are now combined and internationalised with ISIS in control. It is no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youth in Nigeria which it began as, it is now West African fulanisation, African islamisation and global organised crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, illegal mining and regime change,” Obasanjo said.
While noting that intelligence was poor and governments embarked on games of denials, he condemned a situation whereby payments for ransoms which strengthened the insurgents were made “yet governments denied payment of ransoms.”

He however wants the Federal Government to see to the right welfare packages for troops fighting the Boko Haram terrorists. He lamented that “soldiers were poorly trained for the unusual mission, poorly equipped, poorly motivated, poorly led and made to engage in propaganda rather than achieving results.”

Man arrested over attempt to dupe Ogun Commissioner of Police

The Ogun state police command have arrested a 52-year old man, Tayo Ogunmola, over an attempt to defraud the state’s Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama.

A statement released by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, says that the arrest of the suspect followed a phone call he made to the police commissioner, pretending to be an old herbalist who mistakenly sent a recharge card pin to the telephone number of the CP pleading for the pin to be sent back to him.

Makama who is familiar with the antics of the fraudsters decided to play along with him while he sent men of the Intelligence Response Team to technically track and apprehend the suspect.

At a stage, the suspect who was not aware that he is being trailed, presented himself as a commissioner of police, a deputy Inspector general of Police, ready to assist Makama only if he can part with a certain amount of money not knowing that the person he’s been discussing with is a serving commissioner of police.

Luck however ran out on him when he was traced to his hideout at Araromi phase 11 in Ilogbo area of Ota where he was promptly arrested.

On interrogation, he confessed being a fraudster who had defrauded many unsuspecting members of the public of money running into millions of Naira out of which he built the house he is living in.
Makama has ordered the monitoring team to properly investigate the suspect with the view of arresting his other accomplices and arraign them before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Femi Falana writes an open letter to l0 Buhari to demand release of 40 Nigerians illegally detained by the Navy

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has written to President Buhari to order the release of 40 Nigerians who have been in “illegal custody” of the Nigerian navy.

In an open letter to the President, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said he has  received complaints from the family members of 40 detainees who have been held incommunicado in dehumanising conditions for periods of six to eight months.

According to Falana, the “unlawful detention” contravened sections of the 1999 constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights Ratification and Enforcement. Falana added that “In fact, some of the detainees are incarcerated in an underground military detention facility in Abuja while others are held inside one of the vessels impounded by the Nigerian Navy in Marina, Lagos”.

Below is the full letter written to the President by Femi Falana.

Quote:“May 19, 2019
His Excellency,
Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari,
President & Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,

It may interest Your Excellency to know that the above named detainees have been held incommunicado in dehumanising conditions for periods ranging from six to eight months. In fact, some of the detainees are incarcerated in an underground military detention facility in Abuja while others are held inside one of the vessels impounded by the Nigerian Navy in Marina, Lagos. The detainees have been subjected to mental, psychological and physical torture contrary to the provisions of the Anti Torture Act, 2017.
Furthermore, in utter contempt of court the authorities of the Nigerian Navy have defied valid and subsisting orders of competent courts for the unconditional release of some of the detainees. Apart from such contemptuous conduct the Nigerian Navy recently denied knowledge of the whereabouts of the 15 detainees held in a detention facility in Abuja. As soon as we pointed out that the remand order procured by the Nigerian Navy for the detention of the 15 detainees had been quashed by the Chief Magistrate Court in Apapa, Lagos State the Naval Authorities turned round to file criminal charges against 5 of them before a Court Martial.

Since all the detainees are entitled to their fundamental rights to dignity and liberty guaranteed by sections 34 and 35 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and articles 5 and 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights Ratification and Enforcement Act (Cap A9) Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, we urge Your Excellency to direct the Chief Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, to either release the detainees from unlawful custody or arraign them in court without any further delay.
In view of the fact that the illegal detention of the 40 Nigerian citizens for several months without trial has exposed the Federal Government to unwarranted embarrassment the Chief of Naval Staff ought to be sanctioned by Your Excellency.
Please accept the assurances of our highest esteem.
Yours sincerely,
FEMI FALANA, SAN, FCI Arb.”

NPA Terminates Intels Pilotage Contract Over Failure To Remit $145.84m
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-19-2019, 07:13 PM - No Replies

Eromosele Abiodun

Quote:After about two years of bickering, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has terminated its boats pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement with Intels Nigeria Limited. Intels is a leading integrated logistics and facilities services provider in the maritime and oil and gas logistics sectors of the economy.

In a letter dated March 29, 2019, addressed to the Managing Director of Intels, which was obtained by THISDAY, NPA said the decision to revoke the contract was taken in line with Article 8 © of its agreement with Intels, dated February 11, 2011.

The letter signed by NPA’s Assistant General Manager, Legal Services, read in part, “We refer to the agreement dated 11th February, 2011 and 24th August, 2018 between the NPA and Intels Nigeria Limited for the monitoring and supervision of oil industry related activities in the compulsory pilotage districts of the authority (service boat operator).

“The NPA (the principal ) hereby serves on you Intels Nigeria Limited, (the Managing agent) notice of termination in line with article 8 © of its agreement with Intels, dated 11th February, 2011, which said notice shall expire three months from the date of this notice of termination.”

In a letter dated March 27, 2019, addressed to the Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala-Usman, NPA’s Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello-Koko, had accused Intels of non-compliance with the presidential directive and circular on implementation of Treasury Single Account (TSA) and Article 4.1 of the executed supplemental agreement by refusing to remit the sum of $145, 849,309.33 being outstanding service boat revenue generated from November 1, 2017 to October 31, 2018.

“In a letter dated March 6, 2019, Intels alluded to the following as defence for its refusal to comply with terms of executed agreement: that the outstanding revenue of $145. 84 million, which covers the period of November 1, 2017 to October 31, 2018, is not true, that its pledge to pay the sum of $55.70 million as revenue for period from November 1, 2017 to March 31, 2019 is predicated on authority’s payment of $19.67 million. And added that the authority’s fulfilment of the payment is a prerequisite for the reciprocity of rights and obligations of each party in executed agreement.

“That the unreconciled amount of $145. 84 million included revenue expected from both clients under Intels agency and other agents.”

On NPA’s reaction to Intels assertions, Bello-Koko said NPA and Intels had jointly reconciled service boats transactions covering the period of November 1, 2017 to July 31, 2019.

He said, “That the reconciled and jointly signed report covered November 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018 and the associated outstanding reconciled revenue is $55.702 million. However, Intels persistently refused to transfer the agreed amount to TSA, instead, it introduced the concept of reciprocity, which is alien to the executed agreement.

“That the jointly reconciled report for the period of April 1 to July 31, 2018 has been submitted to Intels for signature. That this has not been signed till date. And the outstanding revenue for the period is $49.008 million, which ought to have been transferred to TSA by Intels.”

He added, “That the period from August 1 to October 31, 2018 was reconciled by the authority and forwarded to Intels for review to enable joint agreement. However, Intels has not responded and this has held down further reconciliation. The supplemental agreement stipulates that reconciliation should be monthly but the apparent delay to speed up the exercise appears inconsistent with agreement.

“That the executed supplemental agreement does not provide that revenue transfer to TSA be dependent on conclusion of reconciliation, it is worrisome that an average of 80 percent of revenue is being withheld by Intels while a meagre 20 percent is being paid to TSA. The authority by its letter of March 1, 2019, has given Interls a Grace period of five days within which to remit the outstanding revenue to TSA. However, it is worrisome that about 20 days after no payment was made as requested.”

THISDAY exclusively gathered that it was on this ground that NPA decided to cancel the authority’s agreement with Intels Nigeria Limited.

This decision according a usually reliable source should have come much earlier but had wait to avoid giving the termination political colouration.

The source also admitted that NPA is owing Intels about $600 million which it intends to pay from the revenue source.

On how NPA intends to proceed with revenue collection going forward, the source stated that it was going to go through the process of engaging another company when the termination process is fully executed.

Atiku demands N500m and written apology from President Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie for ‘tweeting lies’ about him (See the Letter)

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections has demanded N500m and a written apology from an aide to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, for “spreading lies capable of damaging” his reputation.

In a letter addressed to Onochie and signed by Atiku’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the former Vice-President took issues with Onochie’s post on Twitter which states, ‘Atiku on UAE watch list- Security Sources.’

Atiku said he was never on any watch list and challenged Onochie to prove her allegation. He said he would sue Onochie for N2bn and cyber bullying if she fails to meet his demands.

Quote:The letter reads in part, “We have our client’s instructions to demand and we hereby demand from you the following: That you publish and tender a written retraction and apology for the said libellous publication in six national dailies circulating in Nigeria and one international daily as well as on all social media platforms wherein the said publication was made.
“That you pay to our client through the firm, the sum of N500,000,000 only, representing minimal damages to assuage his already battered image wholly caused by your said defamatory publication.
“Take notice that if you fail or refuse to accede to our modest demands within the next 48 hours from the date of this letter, we shall be compelled to activate the full weight of the legal machinery against you without any further recourse to you.  “We shall be, in such a suit, claiming against you the sum of N2bn, representing exemplary aggravated and punitive damages.”
Onochie, who has been Buhari’s aide for over three years, has been known to attack persons who criticise the President.

Edo 2020: Finally, Oshiomhole Speaks; Tells APC Leaders, Members What To Do
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-19-2019, 06:56 PM - No Replies

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has advised members of the APC in Edo State to continue to support the Governor, Godwin Obaseki to enable him focus on providing and delivering dividends of democracy to Edo people in the interest of the party and the state, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Igbere TV reports that Oshiomhole, a foremost leader of the APC in Edo, made the call at a meeting of party leaders at his Iyamho residence over the weekend.

Our source who was in attendance said the former governor spoke to about 300 party leaders drawn from the three senatorial districts of Edo state.

The leaders who consists of past political office holders, past and present House of Assembly members, House of Representatives, past and present Senators, were in Iyamho to pay a courtesy visit to the National Chairman.

While addressing the leaders, Oshiomhole told them not to allow the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “which has been cut to size in Edo state for their incompetence and bad governance during their time in government, to benefit from any form of crisis within the APC.”

The former Labour leader advised them to remain united and supportive of the administration of Obaseki, who he said is doing well “even if there is space for improvement.”

He however did not disclose whether the governor would be given a return ticket or not, even when party leaders pressurized him to speak.

In the past few weeks tension has heightened in Edo state with different groups for and against Governor Obaseki meeting and granting press conferences.

The social media platforms has also been flooded with opinions, write ups and news from those in support and against Obaseki.

The division is over the second term bid of the incumbent governor in light of moves to ensure a new occupant in Osadebey’s avenue, the seat of power in the state.

This comes amid rumoured rift between the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Obaseki.

Even though Obaseki and his predecessor have kept mute over the rumoured cold war between them, their supporters ahead of the 2020 battle for the governorship ticket continues to sound the political battle cry, fueling strong speculation that Oshiomhole may have severed ties with his successor.

Checks by Igbere TV also showed that the party is divided as some EXCO members are now dumping Oshiomhole to queue behind Obaseki, and vice versa.

But Obaseki had upon his return from a foreign trip denied any rift between him and his godfather, while imploring the people to focus on his achievements.

The governor who rode on the back of Oshiomole against initial stance of many APC leaders has been accused of sidelining APC members and leaders in governance.

Though Obaseki has always denied this stating that he was under pressure to release state funds for sharing, the other group have stated otherwise.

They accused the governor of bringing corrupt people from Lagos, Delta and other states to dictate who gets what, when and how in Edo.

A former Chief Press Secretary to the governor has also challenged Obaseki to publish a list of contracts awarded in his 31 months in power. John Mayaki through his page JohnMayaki.com has accused the governor of incompetence and corruption “thereby increasing the unemployment and under-employment rate in Edo since he came into power.”

He accused the governor of plunging the state into debt with Edo now second most indebted state in Nigeria, “while there was nothing on ground to justify such huge and borrowing.”

He also accused the governor of nepotism, stifling the House of Assembly members and importing appointees from outside Edo mixed with elitist circle who had no feeling for the people of the state.

Also not left out is the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, whom he accused of awarding all contracts for renovations of schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area to himself using his twin brother as a front.

As at press time, Edo State Government or their aides are yet to reply several allegations of corruptions, nepotism and favoritism leveled against them by the foremost journalist and former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mayaki.

Efforts to reach Mr. Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy to the governor, were unsuccessful. He had neither returned the calls nor replied text messages sent to his phone, as at press time.

Contacted by Igbere TV however, Simeon Ebegbulem, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Oshiomhole, denied any prior knowledge of the meeting. Asked if his principal would likely support Obaseki for a second term, the CPS simply said, “I can’t answer that at the moment.”

The federal government on Saturday raised fresh alarm that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, were working to make Nigeria ungovernable with the intention of overthrowing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the 2019 edition of the Annual Ramadan Lecture held at Oro, Kwara State, declared that they were trying “reverse” democracy.
According to him, Atiku and the PDP were carrying out acts to undermine the Buhari government just to heat up the polity.

He said: “This is the Holy month of Ramadan, and Muslim Faithful all over the world observe it with fasting, prayers, self-purification, renewed focus on religion and sense of community.

“It is therefore appropriate to use this occasion to call on all Nigerians to pray for our dear country, to pray for peace and unity.

“I make this request against the background of those who are daily plotting to exploit our national fault lines of religion and ethnicity, those who masquerade as democrats but can’t take electoral defeat, those who will not hesitate to collude with anti-democratic forces and deadenders to fan the embers of violence in the country and those who have elevated their personal ambition over and above our survival as a nation.

“As you are aware, a few days ago we raised the alarm that either by themselves or via their proxies, the PDP and it’s presidential candidate are doing everything possible to sabotage the Buhari Administration, generally overheat the polity and make Nigeria seemingly ungovernable.
“Of course you are aware of similar alarms that have been raised by the police, the military and the DSS.
“Since our intervention, pseudo and partisan analysts have teamed up with the spokesmen for the main opposition party and its presidential candidate to either exhibit their ignorance or to engage in red herring and name calling. We are neither distracted nor dissuaded.

*Our interventions are based on credible evidence, and no government with the kind of evidence that we have, of plans to subvert the power of the state, attack the nation’s economic live wire and generally unleash mayhem on the polity, will keep quiet.

“The security agencies are all alert to their responsibilities and will not sit by and allow anyone to reverse the gains of our democracy under any guise.
“I want to end my speech by thanking all Nigerians for their support and prayers for the Buhari Administration, and to urge them not to relent, especially in the run up to the May 29th inauguration of Mr President.”

Last night, the Ghana Music Awards witnessed an unprecedented chaos when dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and label mate Stonebwoy disrupted the show.

Stonebwoy was announced as the winner for the Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the year, a move that didn't sit down well with Shatta Wale who stormed the stage with his 'goons' in protest.

Stonebwoy was however battle ready as he had a gun on him and he pulled it out on stage.

Shatta Wale in his reaction on twitter this morning said, 'this is called insecurity, it’s a shame Ghana music supports this arrogant cripple'.

Obasanjo hinges dwindling life expectancy on poverty

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has decried the alarming increase in cases of early deaths in the country, attributing it to growing rate of poverty, especially among the low and middle class income earners.

The former President made this observation in a keynote address delivered at the 2019 Synod of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Oleh Diocese, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

In an address entitled; “Mobilising Nigeria’s Human And Natural Resources For National Development And Stability”, Obasanjo noted that the nation has not fared well in improving the socio-economic status of the citizenry in the last three decades.

The former president who said he has reviewed the progress made in the area of ensuring improved standard of living of Nigerians masses right from independence, disclosed that rather than improve, the nation has continued to retrogress.

According to him, “In fact, on the life expectancy index published by the WHO, Nigeria placed 177 out of 183 countries and territories surveyed. This means that in the whole wide world, Nigeria is only better than six countries in terms of early death or short life span”

“In its 2018 edition published just last October, the UNDP was in a jubilant and triumphant mood in celebrating what it said was its 30 decades of progress in human development across the globe”.

“This is certainly cheering news for the global body whose efforts have led to such dramatic improvement in human development across the world”.

“It is also cheering news for the many nations and territories across the world whose governments harkened to the advice of the UNDP and adopted measures and policies that helped uplift the quality of life of their peoples”.

“While the rest of the world are celebrating this improvement in human happiness and human quality, it is appropriate to ask where Nigeria fits into this scale of advancement in human development”.

“My lord Bishop, distinguished audience, without having to belabour the issue, the summary of the state of human development in Nigeria over the past 30 years or even since independence in 1960 can be summarised by that CNN headline news of 26 June 2018.”

Salary Arrears: Gov Bello Makes U-turn, Insists He's Not Owing Workers' Salaries
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-19-2019, 12:13 PM - No Replies

After admitting owing civil servants in Kogi State 38 months salary arrears, Governor Yahaya Bello has made a U-turn, saying he is not owing any worker a dime in his four-year tenure.

Governor Bello was however quick to add that salaries being owed workers were from the previous administrations, adding that arrangements have been concluded to clear the backlog of salaries.

Addressing journalists in Kaduna shortly after the Northern Governors’ Forum meeting on Friday, Governor Bello disclosed that his administration never owed workers.

According to him, only five months arrears is the issue, pointing out that the five months outstanding salaries was incurred by the former administration which was passed to his own administration.

He said, “What was owed by the previous administration is exactly what is being owed now. Under my watch, I m not owing a single dime but inherited liability which Mr. President has approved. As soon as we draw that we shall clear all the arrears.

“I am promising that before December, the issue of salary arrears would be a thing of the past. And even without accessing the N30.8 billion I will raise money and clear the remaining arrears”.

The governor, who expressed his commitment to removing ghost workers from the state’s civil service, hinted that the outstanding arrears were backlog from past administrations in the state.

He also hinted that the previous administration applied for N80.5 billion from the Federal Government and that President Muhammadu Buhari approved N50. 8 billion out of the money.

He said due to his prudent nature, he decided to withdraw only N20 billion which utilisation was published in national dailies including how it was shared with the local governments.

The governor said he is expecting the remaining N30,8 billion to clear the salary arrears before December.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 19TH MAY.

UPGRADING YOUR LIFE FROM GLORY TO GLORY

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

Progress is something everybody wants. Success, and greater levels of success, is the desire of every human person. Yet, this remains an elusive phenomenon for many, because they haven’t acted on the Word. The Word of God is clear on how to have a fruitful, productive, and efficient life of success: it’s by the renewing of your mind, not by the renewing of your environment, wardrobes, homes, or bank accounts.

Why is your mind so important? It’s because God has fashioned the mind as the instrument for your transformation. Your mind is unlimited in its potential to create whatever you desire. When you put your mind-power to work, the possibilities are endless. There’re no limits to what you can achieve, and absolutely no restrictions to how high you can propel yourself in life.

Your prosperity is essentially determined by the content and quality of your mind, because with your mind, you can change anything about you! You can establish a perfect structure and administration for your life, and enjoy to the utmost the special life and blessings God has given you.

Open your mind to God’s Word through study and meditation. Don’t just gloss over or leaf through the pages of the Bible; study! 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Through conscious meditation on the Word, your mind is organized, reorganized, programmed or reprogrammed. Its contents and processes are synchronized with God’s thoughts and perfect will for your life. That’s what brings about the transformation.

Remember, who you are today is a function or expression of the contents and workings of your mind. Through God’s Word, you can work on your mind and change its contents, and that change will show up in your life as an upgrade, reflecting in your character and the results you have in life. Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you, for your Word renews my mind, transforms my life, reorganizes and reprogrammes my thoughts in the direction of your perfect will for my life. As I consciously make your Word the contemplation of my spirit, my mind is inundated with thoughts of progress and possibilities, and as such, I experience higher levels of glory, excellence, success, victory and prosperity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for Your pulsating life that permeates my entire being. I am a partaker of the divine nature; an associate of the God-kind! I am filled with Your fullness; therefore, health, joy, prosperity, victory and the glorious life are my present-hour inheritance. I’ve been born into the life of dominion , success, and joy .

My life is for Your glory. I thank You for You have chosen me, and ordained me, that I should go and bring forth fruit, and that my fruit should abide. In all that I do, I prosper!   Ganduje Files Defence, Lines Up 203 Witnesses Against PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-18-2019, 11:20 PM - No Replies

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has finally filed his defence at the Kano State Election Petitions Tribunal, to defend his victory at the last governorship election in the state.

He has also moved to present 203 witnesses in court, to testify that there was a free and fair election in the state on 23rd March, 2019.

This is in response to the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, challenging his victory.

Igbere TV recalls that Ganduje, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won with a margin of more than 9,000 votes after the collation of figures for the supplementary elections held on March 23, 2019

The defence sighted by Igbere TV on Saturday, is a 1,800-page document.

Ganduje's lawyer, Musa Abdullahi Lawan, (SAN), also confirmed the report on Saturday.

He spoke after filing the Governor’s defence before the State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting at Milla road, Kano.

Lawan, who is one of the leading counsels to the governor, said the PDP’s petition was unnecessary in the first place but since it is filed, they would still have to grapple with losing.

His words: “We brought in our processes in defense of the petition and we have done it with the time and we are very confidence of winning and right from the beginning we are saying PDP petition was unnecessary.”

Asked about the proposed 203 witnesses, the lawyer told Igbere TV that they are bringing in witnesses who are “key” and “ready” to tell the Court that there was indeed an election and that the PDP petition was baseless.

The governor’s defense counsel noted that with the filing of the petition within 20-25 days, the trial in the governorship election would fully commence.

He added that they have filed their petition within the stipulated time of 21 days, claiming that even PDP exhausted their time before they filed in their petition.

“We are highly confidence of winning this case because the whole world admits that their was an elections and that Governor Ganduje actually wins the election,” he said.

Buhari's Government Strengthened Boko Haram By Paying Ransoms - Obasanjo
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria's former President who spoke at the 2nd session of the Synod held at the Cathedral Church of St.Paul’s Anglican Church, Oleh in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, stated that Buhari's government strengthened Boko Haram by paying ransoms. The former President who warned that every insecurity situation in Nigeria must be taken seriously and be addressed at once without favouritism or cuddling, spoke on the topic, “Mobilizing Nigeria’s human& natural resources for national development and stability”.

Admitting that Boko Haram and herdsmen acts of violence were not treated as they should at the beginning, Obasanjo stated that Buhari's government strengthened Boko Haram by paying ransoms which they have continuously denied. He said;

“They have both incubated and developed beyond what Nigeria can handle alone. They are now combined and internationalized with ISIS in control. It is no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youths in Nigeria which it began as, it is now West African fulanization, African Islamization and global organized crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, illegal mining and regime change.

“Yet, we could have dealt with both earlier, and nip them in the bud, but Boko Haram boys were seen as rascals not requiring serious attention in administering holistic measures of stick and carrot. And when we woke up to the reality, it was turned to industry for all and sundry to supply materials and equipment that were already outdated and that were not fit for active military purpose.

“Soldiers were poorly trained for the unusual mission, poorly equipped, poorly motivated, poorly led and made to engage in propaganda rather than achieving results. Intelligence was poor and governments embarked on games of denials while paying ransoms which strengthened the insurgents and yet governments denied payments of ransoms. Today, the insecurity issue has gone beyond the wit and capacity of Nigerian Government or even West African Governments”.

Nigerian school where only six teachers tutor nearly 800 pupils

BY AZEEZAT ADEDIGBA

MAY 18, 2019

Located on a large expanse of land, Rafin Giwa Model Primary School in Kwakware community, Kebbi State, is gradually becoming a prime destination for anxious parents wishing to enrol their children.

This is in light of the UNICEF and the state government’s Cash Transfer Programme (CTP), which is attracting massive enrolment from families in the community. It is equally posing enormous challenges on the school’s infrastructure.

Currently, due to the influx of pupils, classes are sometimes conducted under a tree, an investigation reveals.

There are about three other schools in the community, but Rafin Giwa appears to be a top choice for parents sending their wards to school. It is also where cash is disbursed to such parents by government officials.

PREMIUM TIMES recently visited the community, which is about 30 minutes drive from the state capital. It is situated in Suru LGA.

Excitement

In one of the classrooms, 12-year-old Hassana Aliyu, who is in Primary 6, expressed her delight at being in school, courtesy of the government.

She said the cash transfer programme had changed her entire life.

”I left school two years ago when I was in primary four because there was no one to pay my fees. I started selling food for my mother since then,” she said.

Ms Hassanah said she wants to become a medical doctor and will love to go to a higher institution’.

”I came back to school last year, and I joined my friends in primary six because they are all in primary four,” she said.

Primary one and two people under the tree

Outside the classroom, about 200 pupils received lessons under an acacia tree in the hot afternoon.

The school, with 774 pupils was established in 1976, and is presently not able to accommodate the increasing number of fresh intakes.

Worse, the school has only six teachers. It has three blocks with six classrooms, which cannot cater for the pupils.

Most of the primary one and two pupils, who are between age seven and nine, said in the local language, Hausa, that they were happy to be in school.

“We would have been hawking if we are not in school by now. We also have books, pencils, uniform, socks and sandals too,” Musa Gulma, the labour maayter quoted some of the children as saying.

Mr Gulma said the only challenge of the cash programme is that ”it needs adequate monitoring.”

“Some parents still collect the money, and their wards are not in school, it is worrisome,” he said.

Relief, yet pain

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, the head teacher of Rafin Giwa school, Kabiru Shehu, said the block of classrooms for Primary one and two collapsed in 2017.

”Since then we have to shuffle the pupils between a class and under the tree,” he said.

According to him, ”we usually merge class one and two and put them in Education Child Development Centre (ECDC) during harmattan and rainy season. They only sit under the tree during the normal weather.

“The only way we can separate them to learn their curriculum is using the shades. Class one alone is more than 150 pupils,” he explained.

He said the school had informed the authorities since the incident happened, ”and they promised to construct a new block of classrooms.”

“We have six teachers, two are female, while the remaining four are male. Once in a while, we get volunteers to assist us,” he said.

Suru local government education Secretary, Kabiru Maikwari

Aside from serving as a place for formal education of kids in the community, the school ground is also a meeting point for parents who gather there to receive the cash transfer from UNICEF.

The communities affected are in Kirufe, Kawara and Mekwari.

Kawara

PREMIUM TIMES also visited Kawara Model Primary School, which was established in 1968.

The headmaster of the school, Labaran Falke, said he was helpless especially in the face of challenges of lack of teachers and infrastructure the school is confronted with.

”We don’t have enough chairs, most of the furniture we have are broken. We also need more classrooms and the fencing of the school is another problem we are facing.

“Our pupils in classes five and six are all in one classroom. We divided them into three, one group learns in the class and two other groups learn under the tree,” Mr Falke said.

Mr Falke expressed worry that the absence of facilities like furniture and additional classrooms may discourage pupils from been retained in school despite the government largesse.

Headteacher, Rafin Giwa model primary school, Kwakware, Kabiru Shehu

“Before the CTP, our pupils were less than 300 but since the UNICEF people brought this programme, the enrolment increased to 667 pupils. We suddenly began to face the problems of space and where to put them (pupils). The teachers are only nine with one female teacher. All of these can make them (pupils) stop coming,” he added.

How intervention works

The CTP, initiated by UNICEF, is part of the component of Educate A Child which is a funding window to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states by 2020.

The components, according to UNICEF, include the cash transfer programme in addition to other grant opportunities.

The cash transfer programme is targeting over 501,749 out-of-school children, who are not above 12-year-old, in the four Northern Nigerian states with the highest number of such children.

A survey by UNICEF and the federal government showed that the population of these children has risen from 10.5 million to 13.2 million.

Nigeria is ranked as having the highest number of out-of-school children in the world.

Beneficiaries

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, the CTP coordinator in Kebbi State, Isah Usman, said over 31,000 pupils in the state are currently being paid N8,000 every academic term to encourage learning.

He said the money is being paid to the mothers of the pupil, who are referred to as caregivers.

“The mothers are being given the money as caregivers, we know they have the attitude to turn the money into small scale business and in turn support and sustain their children in school,” he said.

Thirty five-year-old Aisha Ibrahim, who was on queue in the school to receive her cash when our reporter visited, said she uses the N8000 received (per term) to sell corn meal popularly known as ‘tuwo masara’ in Hausa.

“This money has helped me to invest in my business, and I can cater to my children. Only one of my child is a beneficiary. So I use the money to buy uniforms, socks, and I give them food. I am very happy now,” she said.

Father of five who escorted his wives to collect CTP money for five children, Ahmed Kwakware

Similarly, Hauwa Jibrin, said two of her kids are beneficiaries. She said she invests the money on livestock rearing, takes care of her children and gives some to her husband.

Ahmed Kwakware, a jewellery seller and father of five children, said all his children are beneficiaries. He said the ”money had created a bond between families.”

“As you can see me, I escorted my wives to collect the money. I have two wives, and they have been investing well with the money and my children are happy,” he said.

When asked if he collects the money from his wives, Mr Kwakware said no, ”but they have (wives) been so supportive.”

Flipside

The village head of Kwakware community popularly referred to as Hakimi Kwakware, Aliyu Maiarewa, said the grants had improved the enrolment and retention of pupils in school.

Mr Maiarewa also said the grants improved individual family lives.

“Every morning, children are well dressed for school. You see them on the streets going to schools. They are happy with the money and that when they get back, their parents will have food for them. We are grateful for the help and may God bless them,” he said.

He, however, appealed to the government to assist the school by building more classrooms and sending more teachers.

Labour Teacher, Musa Gulma. Rafin Giwa primary school, Kwakware, Kebbi state

According to him, the facilities have been overstretched by the increased enrolment of pupils as a result of the cash transfer programme.

‘We are aware of challenges’

The local government education secretary of Suru LGA, Kabiru Maikwari, said ”the attendance in the school was not up to 40 per cent before CTP was introduced, but it has increased to 75 per cent.”

“The enrolment was low when the parents were the ones taking care of the children. You can see them wearing uniforms, socks, exercise books, there is an improvement. Before in a family, only one child comes to school, but now we have up to seven children from a family,” he said.

He said the reason for children studying under the tree was the increased enrolment.

“Now the classes are filling up, and we had to put the pupils under the shade,” he said

Similarly, the commissioner of education, Kebbi State, Muhammad Aliero, said the number of out-of-school-children would reduce ”with the new interventions in place.”

”Before the cash transfer programme, only a few schools had full attendance, but now, enrolment had increased in the three local governments that enjoy the programme,” he said.

”Currently, Kebbi State spends N280 million on feeding. We have built 40 nomadic schools. We have identified 504 Almajiri Islamic schools. We will do the necessary renovation for them, and we will make sure that we send Mathematics and English teachers to them,” he said.

He said the state government was planning to introduce more interventions.

IT Staff Defrauds Covenant University Of N180 Million, Rides Chopper To Work
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-18-2019, 06:31 PM - Replies (2)

ALL is not well in the IT Department of Covenant University, Otta, Sentry can authoritatively report. A guru in information technology (IT) attached to that department is in the police net after he was found to have devised a means by which he diverted funds meant for the university into his private pocket. By the time the university woke up to his antics, he had succeeded in siphoning a whopping N180 million!

Before the bubble burst, not a few people were said to have wondered how the loved and trusted official was managing to get the funds with which he maintained a lifestyle the Chancellor of the university and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, would call “riotous living.” He was said to have bought some flashy cars which he kept in a mansion he bought with stolen funds in highbrow Lekki part of Lagos, even though he had a house in the school where he lived with his wife.

Every Friday, he would cruise with his wife to the posh house in Lekki to enjoy the weekend. But what really gave him away was the habit of flying back to his duty post in Otta in a chopper that landed at the premises of The Bells University, which is only a stone’s throw from Covenant University.

Tongues began to wag from onlookers who started to wonder who the big boy could be. Word about his lifestyle soon got to the authorities of Covenant University who decided to put him under surveillance and realised that he had stolen the university’s money amounting to more than N180 million. The funds were mainly school fees paid by students. The fees were paid into the accounts of the university in designated banks but the disingenuous inventor found a means of diverting the money into his private account. The discovery alarmed the authorities of the school. Oyedepo, sources said, was flabbergasted.

The IT guru was promptly reported to the police, who arrested him. Covenant University authorities expected the police to fast track his prosecution but that was not forthcoming. Words got to the university that the suspected fraudster was greasing the palms of the police. Again alarmed by the development, the authorities sidelined the police and handed the suspect to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted stealing the said sum and even agreed to refund N56 million in cash immediately. Sentry will keep you posted on further developments....

The convicts were arraigned in 2013 alongside three others: Uche Igbani, 28, Chibuzor Osuagwu, 33 and a 36-year-old woman, Onowu Ngozi, on a 14 count-charge bothering on conspiracy, kidn

The gang had kidnapped Ugoje and another staff, Piriye Gogo who were taken to an unknown destination by their leader, Evans.

Narrating her ordeal before the court, Miss Gogo said that the three men accosted them with rifles on their way home and that she was almost raped inside the car, but was saved by her monthly menstrual period.

While being led in evidence before the court, Gogo disclosed that during the abduction, one of the kidnappers, Obasi, came into the car, after dragging her boss out for negotiation at an undisclosed location, and started handling with her breast.

Gogo said, “He came into the car, tore my clothes, pulled down a side of my bra and began caressing my breast. He thereafter started dragging down my shirt and I began begging him. I begged him until I had nothing else I could plead with. I begged him intensely for mercy and even told him that I was menstruating.

“It was as though all my pleas fail on deaf ears, I had to insert my hand into my vagina just to show him. The blood I showed him prevented him from raping me. It was a terrible experience.

“He, thereafter, asked whether Mr. Jude was the owner of the company. And I replied that we were just clearing agents. They also seized our mobile phones, jewellery and money.

“They blindfolded Mr. Jude, brought him back into the car, asked me to face down with my eyes closed, and then drove off to another location. They spoke Igbo almost all the time so I could barely understand what they were saying or taking us to.

“While driving off to the other location, they asked if I could drive, I said no. So they dropped down from the car and took Mr Jude with them. They ordered me to face down and not look at their faces or I will be shot dead. They abandoned me and the Honda pilot car at 2nd bridge alongside expressway, where I waited until I saw a police patrol and flagged them.

Also testifying, Jude said his abductors initially ordered him to pay N10m for his release but after negotiations, they collected N5m.

After listening to them, the trial judge, Justice Taiwo convicted and sentenced Ukoh and Obasi to 5, 15 and 21 years for conspiracy, kidnapping and armed robbery respectively, while the other three were discharged and acquitted by court.

The judge held that the prosecution could not prove that those acquitted Igbani, Osuagwu and Ngozi were linked to the alleged charges of murder, conspiracy, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Nightmare has remained the only companion of a 42-year-old man, Gundumi Saya who allegedly lured a married woman, Mrs. Hajara Markus out of her matrimonial home for sex where she died while the duo were engaged in illicit affair.

Gundumi has been remanded in Jos prison by Plateau State High Court for allegedly killing Mrs. Hajara during sex. He confessed to have been having secret sexual relationship with the woman before and after she got married to her husband.

The suspect who hails from Zango-Dinya village of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State is married with three wives and 14 children, but still enjoys keeping concubines he sleeps with outside his home. He claimed to have dated Hajara during her active youthful years before she got married to Markus Jagaba.

Nemesis caught-up with Gundumi when their sexual relationship turned sour on November 21, 2018, a day Hajara allegedly died having sex with him in an exclusive location in Jos.

It was gathered that the late Hajara had lied to her husband that she was going for a wedding programme at Jakandagiwa village in Bauchi State and demanded for permission to be away for some days. She however took advantage of the wedding to go for the extra-marital affair that ended her life.

According to his statement to police filed before Justice Daniel Longji of the Plateau State High Court, Jos, Gundumi, argued that he does not have a hand in the death of his ex-lover, Hajara but admitted he was together with her when she died.

Gundumi, who is cooling his heels at the Jos Prison, was charged with culpable homicide, an offence he allegedly committed on November 21, 2018.

The police alleged that Gundumi, on that fateful day committed the act of adultery with the deceased when he lured her out of her matrimonial home to have sexual intercourse with her, an offence that contravened section 368 of the Penal Code.

It was revealed that Gundumi intentionally dumped the body of the deceased by the roadside, after he realised that she had died while they were having sex. He was accused of refusing to inform the police of Hajara’s death, thereby contravening sections 189 and 102 of the Penal Code.

How it happened

In his statement, he denied killing his lover, stating that he woke up to make love to her in the middle of the night only to find her dead.

“I have known Hajara before she got married; we have been in a relationship for a long time. In between, she got married and got divorced twice, but we still kept on seeing each other until she got married again a few years ago.

“Whenever I wanted to have sexual relationship with her, I invite her to the bush where we will `catch our fun’, and she will return home. On the said date, we arranged to meet at my friend’s place, one Ojukwu, who is also married, after she told her husband that she was going for a wedding in Bauchi State.

“As agreed, we met at Ojukwu’s house and he (Ojukwu), gave us a room to pass the night. Ojukwu’s wife later sent a boy with `garri’ (cassava flour), and kuli-kuli (groundnut cake), to Hajara, which she soaked and took, after which she retired to sleep.

“I woke up at 2 am to make love to her, but discovered that she was motionless. I quickly ran to Ojukwu’s room to alert him, but his wife told me that he did not sleep at home.”

Gundumi was left in confusion, he picked his phone and called Ojukwu to inform him of the tragedy and suggested that the matter should be reported to the police. But his friend, Ojukwu allegedly insisted that the matter should not be reported to the police because it would land him in serious trouble.

Gundumi in his statement claimed that Ojukwu advised him to dump the body by the roadside, which they both did, and went their separate ways. Six days after Hajara’s lifeless body was dumped, there was commotion in front of his house and as he peeped through the window, he discovered that policemen had stormed his house to arrest him.

His surrender

Luckily, he escaped inside the bush and stayed there for three days after which his daughter called to tell him that the police had taken his elder brother away. “I felt bad when I heard that sad news that my brother had been taken away by the police and I decided to surrender myself to the police”.

Gundumi insisted that he had no hand in the death of the woman. “I did not kill her. But I may not know if my friend’s wife poisoned the `garri’ she gave her because that was the last thing she took before going to bed.’’

Her husband opens up

The deceased husband, Mr Markus Jagaba, 44, in his statement, stated that his wife took permission from him to attend a wedding at Jakandangiwa village in Bauchi State. Jagaba added that he allowed her to go because it was a family occasion and he did not suspect that she was going to meet another man.

“My wife told me she was going to attend a family occasion at Jakandangiwa village in Bauchi State. I did not argue with her. I simply allowed her to go because I didn’t know she had other plans.

“I became worried when she did not return home after the wedding and did not respond to my phone calls. I called her family members and was shocked to learn that she was not at the wedding.

“When we did not see her after searching everywhere, my family and I reported the matter to the police after which I was called by the police, some days later, to come over and identify the corpse which I confirmed to be my wife’s.’’
