External Reserves Rise As Naira Remains Stable

Nigeria’s external reserves has continued to accrue growing by $51.32 million in the first few days of May as it stood at $44.843 billion as at May 8, 2019 according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) even as the naira remained stable across board.

The value of the naira had been stable on all the various markets selling at N360 to the dollar on the streets and at Bureau de Change end of the market as the CBN continued to manage demand with its interventions in the foreign exchange market.

Analysts believe that the sustained increase in foreign portfolio buying interest in the fixed income market is largely responsible for the accretions to the reserves although stable oil prices and output have continued to favour increased forex earnings.

The CBN in continuance of its weekly sales, last week, injected $205 million into the market to support the currency.

The wholesale segment of the market was offered $100 million while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment received $55 million. Similarly, customers requiring foreign exchange for invisibles such as tuition fees, medical payments and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), among others, were allocated $50 million. Meanwhile, the CBN is expected to hold Open Market Operations (OMO) auctions this week, as instruments worth N140.9 billion are expected to mature.

A total of N33.8 billion of primary market maturities is expected to hit the market this week alongside OMO maturities of N107.1 billion. Consequently, it is expected that yields across markets will close higher week-on-week.

In the Treasury Bills secondary market, performance was mixed as rates across benchmark tenors trended lower on three of the five trading days.

The week, started on a bullish note due to the high system liquidity, as average rate across tenors settled at 12.7 per cent. Last week, OMO maturities worth N467.9 billion had hit the market propping up liquidity in the system.

Investors continue to anticipate lower short-term rates as revealed in the OMO auctions held on Thursday. 91-day, 175-day and 336-day instruments were on offer with range of bids of 11.65 to 12.84 per cents as all tenor instruments were oversubscribed.

Nigerian Breweries recommends N19.4bn dividend

Nigeria’s foremost brewer, Nigerian Breweries Plc, has recommended a total dividend of N19.401 billion for the 2018 financial year. The recommendation which amounts to a total dividend of N2.43 per ordinary share of 50 kobo each is a 100 per cent payout.
The Company attributed the 100 per cent dividend payout recommendation as a demonstration of its strong balance sheet and robust cash flow.

Managing Director of the Company, Mr Jordi Borrut Bel, disclosed at the Pre-AGM press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 that the company had earlier paid an interim dividend of N4.8 billion in October 2018, which amounted to 60 kobo per share. The final dividend will therefore be N14.6 billion, which comes to N1.83 per share.

An analysis of the company’s results shows that it recorded a net revenue of N324.38 billion for the 2018 financial year as against N344.53 billion recorded in 2017. Borrut Bel explained that the Marketing and Distribution Expenses for the 2018 financial year increased by 4.8 per cent relative to the cost incurred in 2017, and Administrative Expenses also experienced a 4.4 per cent decline from 21.75 billion to 20.78 billion, which was largely informed by elimination of bad costs.

He explained that the Company’s cost did not increase at the double-digit growth rate recorded by the country in the year under review, partly to the increased flexibility of its nine brewery and malting plants across the country to produce more brands. He also disclosed that though the excise duty tariff imposed by Federal Government at 43 per cent increase took serious toll on the business, it was difficult for the Company to pass the cost to consumers in view of weak purchasing power.

The board of the brewing company was however confident of a positive financial year despite the challenging operating environment for manufacturing in the country, while observing that the operating environment in the first quarter (Q1) 2019, remained challenging and similar to 2018, but expressed confidence in its clear strategy to deliver good return on investment for all its stakeholders.
A further analysis of the Company’s audited results shows that its Profit after Tax (PAT) increased sharply from 14.79 billion to 19.43 billion between the third quarter and the fourth quarter of the 2018 financial year.
Borrut Bel stated that despite the double digit inflation and other operating challenges which affected the Company’s performance, the impact was reduced by cost saving measures deployed through cost leadership initiatives. He added that the Company is positioned to remain competitive with a view to deliver good returns on investment to shareholders as part of its commitment to ‘Winning with Nigeria.’
In Q1 2019, Fidelity Bank increased its profit before tax by 33.96 per cent to N6.7 billion from N5 billion, while the profit after tax rose by 28.38 per cent to N5.9 billion from N4.6 billion, just as  the earnings per share appreciated by 28.38 per cent to 21 kobo from 16 kobo, with the shareholders’ fund growing to N202 billion from N179.7 million.

Saraki’s Probe: EFCC Engaging In Persecution, Not Prosecution — Afenifere
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-13-2019, 09:25 AM - No Replies

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political organisation, has described the latest probe of outgoing Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as political vendetta, saying the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was engaging in persecution instead of prosecution.

Residential houses belonging to Saraki located in Ikoyi, Lagos, were sealed off by the EFCC, which said it had opened a fresh investigation into Saraki’s stewardship as Senate President as well as a probe of his earnings as governor from 2003 – 2011.

Saraki, however, insisted that the action of the EFCC was a witch-hunt, claiming that the property in question had been investigated by the commission several times in the past.

Reacting to the development, Yinka Odumakin, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, said while the organisation was not against probing anyone who was suspected to be corrupt, engaging in media trial and seizure of properties even before charges had been filed was not a proper way to go about investigation.

“I think it is more of persecution than prosecution because if you are doing corruption investigation, there are ways to go about it.

“All the media trial that EFCC is doing and going about seizing properties when it has not filed any charges – it is clear that there is some political vendetta at work.

“We are not against investigation of anybody for alleged corruption because nobody is above the law. But when you begin to show that you are engaged in persecution rather than prosecution, it doesn’t speak well.

“I don’t think Saraki is the only politician in Nigeria today. Why is it that it is only Saraki that the EFCC is investigating, starting from 2003 when he was state governor and Senate President? It is very unfortunate the way they are going about it.”

However, in his reaction, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), said what the anti-graft agency was investigating Saraki for was acquisition of properties by fraudulent means and not false declaration of assets for which he had been cleared by the courts.

“The investigation is not over. The earlier one was the issue of false declaration of assets. What they are doing now is acquiring properties by fraudulent means and siphoning money from the state.

“So, it is a totally different charge. Although he was cleared up to the Supreme Court on the issue of declaration of false assets, this one is different.

“That the court declared that a case is not proved does not mean that there is no guilt. So, this is a second approach which permits the agency to actually have the property forfeited without proving guilt.

“All he has to do is to go through the first process of temporary forfeiture and then, the owner of the property (in this case, Saraki) will be invited by the court through an order to come and justify how he acquired the property, usually by affidavit.

“So, the two parties will come and if he cannot establish satisfactorily to the court that he earned the money by which he acquired the property, then he will lose it to the Federal Government.”

When asked whether the current probe by EFCC was not connected to the refusal of the Senate under Saraki’s leadership to confirm Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the EFCC as the substantive chairman, Sagay said the motive for probing a crime was irrelevant.

“Certainly, I am not interested. Motive in this case is irrelevant. If a crime has been committed, you can have a wrong motive to do a good thing. Who cares?” Sagay said.

Quote:''ONE YEAR SIX MONTH OLD GIRL DEFILED IN LAGOS STATE, MOTHER AND CHILD CHASED AWAY FROM HUSBAND FAMILY HOUSE.
Yesterday we got tagged by Queen Sunnier J Nwude on a facebook post and we quickly contacted the lady who made the post. Our Lagos team led by Tessy Nk investigated and verified the story.
The victim (1yr 6months) who was defiled two weeks ago was never taken to any hospital as the mother watched her mother in pains. The mother was chased away from the family house by her own husband and in-laws for speaking against the evil act.
We met with mother/child and took the baby to the hospital where she's currently receiving treatment. The report confirmed she has been defiled.
This is one of the worst cases we have handled and we urgently need your support as mother and child are homeless.
Who ever committed this act, young or old will be brought to Justice. #EndChildAbuse

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 13TH MAY.

THE GIFT OF KIND WORDS

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones (Proverbs 16:24).

The right words are better than gifts of money, and all earthly gifts. Read our opening verse again; it talks about kind words, gracious and pleasant words: they cheer you up, and bring out the best in you. They bring health.

You may give someone nice gifts, but if the words you give to that one aren’t as nice, then your gifts are worthless. The wars in our world are caused by words, and peace comes by words. When Jacob sent gifts ahead of him to his brother, Esau, who had sworn to kill him because of his (Jacob’s) deception, the gifts didn’t mean much to him. It didn’t stop him from advancing towards Jacob to attack him, even after he had seen the gifts.

However, the moment he heard the voice of Jacob, as Jacob addressed him and spoke to him peaceably and lovingly from his heart, it disarmed Esau; his heart melted. Isn’t that what the Bible says? “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). A kind word will bring healing and work wonders.

Don’t speak grievous, hurtful or hateful words; speak kindly always, from your heart. Use kind words, not flattery. Flattery comes from the lips, and they have no life, no matter how sweet they sound. Flattery is deceptive; don’t flatter with your words. Don’t be like the one David described in Psalm 55:21. He said, “The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.”

Words come from the heart; they reveal your personality and you can’t hide them. Therefore, fill your heart with God’s Words, for out of that abundance, you’ll speak words that heal, lift, encourage, bless and comfort others.

CONFESSION

My thoughts, words, and actions in my daily walk and relationship with others are guided by God’s Word. I’m completely yielded to the Holy Spirit who causes my speech at all times to be gracious, pleasant and winsome, seasoned with salt, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Ephesians 4:29 MSG; Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.

Colossians 4:6; Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

#TALKINGSESSION

13TH MAY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for filling me with Your Spirit. Thank you for revealing Christ Jesus to me, and granting me insight into mysteries and secrets of the Kingdom. I am mightily helped by Holy Spirit today to live triumphantly in every area of my life.

I thank You, because I know that every good and perfect gift is from You; and by Your Holy Spirit, my spiritual eyes are continually opened to recognize those resources, gifts and talents You’ve placed at my disposal, so I could be a solution provider, both in my life and in the life of God’s people, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Many residents of Kano trooped to Aminu Kano International Airport on Sunday evening as Muhammadu Sanusi, emir of Kano, returned to the ancient city.
Sanusi was on lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia when the Kano emirate was split into five.
The Kano house of assembly transmitted the bill to break up the emirate to Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor, on Wednesday and he gave assent to it a few hours later.
Despite a court order restraining him from implementing the law, Ganduje appointed four new emirs and handed them staff of office on Saturday.
With the development, the size of the emirate under Sanusi has been reduced to 10 out of 44 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
The new emirs are Aminu Ado Bayero (Bichi), Ibrahim Abdulkadir (Gaya), Tafida Abubakar (Rano), and Ibrahim Abubakar (Karaye).
The governor is believed to have carried out the act to whittle down the influence of Sanusi, who was said to have worked against his reelection.
Sanusi has not made any public comment on the issue.[/size]

When his plane touched down at the airport, the crowd cheered him, pledging loyalty to the The first-class monarch.

The emir’s convoy went straight to the palace from the airport, but with the crowd , a journey of 15 minutes lasted hours.

Among the traditional rulers who welcomed him at the airport were Makama Kano, district head of Wudil; Abdullahi Ibrahim, district head of Doguwa; and Aliyu Umar, district head of Warawa.

Buhari ‘pampering’ Miyetti Allah – Gani Adams Explodes

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against treating the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) with child gloves.

Adams, in an announcement on Sunday, said the Buhari Government ought to understand the way that the spate of uncertainty in the nation is disturbing and should quit favoring a segment to the detriment of others.

Deploring the barbarities purportedly completed by herders, Adams noted: "In Akokoland, in Ondo State, which happens to be the place where I grew up, there was an arrangement of assaults and seizing that had been seething and still on the expansion.

"Individuals have been murdered, and grabbed voluntarily, and the circumstance still proceeds till the present minute.

"A year ago, Chief Olu Falae's homestead was attacked and obliterated by this gathering of herders; Chief Alani Akinrinade likewise endured a similar destiny. In Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, a conspicuous Yoruba child lost a few million to the exercises of these executioner herders'

"A few other individuals in the South-West had the unpleasant experience. A circumstance whereby an Oba in Akokoland and a speaker from Obafemi Awolowo University were grabbed along Ilesha-Ife street and discharged in the wake of paying immense five million nairas as payment is terrible and not very useful for the country".

The Aare Onakakanfo, likewise asked the Federal Government, to as an issue of earnestness, stretch out the new security game plan to different zones guaranteeing that, in South-West, there are bunches that are quick to help government's drives on decreasing instability.

He, be that as it may, complimented President Muhammadu Buhari on his perspectives about obvious federalism.

"With the new circumstance, I think Mr. President has a thought of what we have been saying all nowadays regarding genuine federalism and rebuilding. Nigeria's issues must be unraveled with genuine federalism', he said.

"A significant number of the issues tormenting our country, particularly, frailty can be tended to through federalism. For instance, if every one of the areas creates at their own pace, each different issues, including security, power, and wellbeing would be dealt with at the state level'.

"The President will be in the best position to facilitate the issues, and endeavors could be made to recover the nation destined for success."

The Federal Government is focused on building modern prisons - Abdulrahman Dambazau

Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau says the Federal Government has unveiled plans to invest in the building of modern prisons across the country.

He disclosed this at an event held on Saturday in Abuja where he said “most of our prisons, particularly those situated in urban centres are more than a century old; over a hundred years old. So, what we do is to ensure that we build modern prisons that will meet the required universal standard for the treatment and rehabilitation of prison inmates".

Dambazzau offered some perspective at the inauguration of some projects at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) in the nation’s capital.  According to him, correctional facilities in the country are in dire need of rehabilitation or outright replacement.

Nigeria has over 1,400 prisons across the country and most of them are in a poor state and over-populated. According to the NPS, there are over 73,000 inmates in these facilities with more than 23,000 convicted. No fewer than 49,000 inmates are awaiting trial for various offences they are said to have committed.

The society failed you" man says as he mourns his brother who didn't get adequate medical care after being shot by gunmen

A young man has died when the ambulance conveying him to LUTH got stuck in traffic and other road users refused to make way.

Oladipo, 35, was in Ikorodu, discussing football with friends, when two gun men attacked them. Others managed to escape but Dipo was hit.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital. He received treatment at the General Hospital on Broad Street before being referred to LUTH. Sadly, on the way to LUTH they met heavy traffic at Costain because a trailer fell and blocked the road.

As the ambulance was stuck in traffic, they ran out of oxygen and Dipo breathed his last.

His brother has now blamed the system for failing him. He blames his brother's death on a failed system and said his brother would still be alive if the "health and security sectors" hadn't failed him.

Family Abandons Father’s Corpse In Mortuary For 15 Years

as hospital sues family in effort to settle impasse

Quote:By Steve Uzoechi and Ifeanyi Emmanuel

Before his death, the late Chief Felix Odinukaeze’s wish was to be buried in the foundation ground of his uncompleted building project. Married to three wives, with scores of children living comfortable lives, nothing would have suggested to the late patriarch that his children would deny him the wish he made in his twilight days.

The storm of controversy which broke out following his death forced his children to regrettably abandon him in a mortuary for 15 years. With no befitting burial and no ‘rest in peace’ epitaph, for 15 years, late Chief Odinukaeze may have restlessly roamed the realm of men waiting for final passage to the great beyond. He hailed from Umumbaneto Village in Isi-Mgbidi Autonomous Community, Oru West LGA, Imo State; a former staff of the Nigerian Postal Service, a polygamist and successful business man. Before his demise, late Odinukaeze had a lot of properties both in his Mgbidi community and beyond. Majority of the business premises around the popular Orlu junction were said to belong to him.

But his death in March 2004 plunged the family into some form of problem as his first son, Barrister Emeka Odinukaeze was said not to be very comfortable with the way things were in the family before the death of his father and his disposition stalled efforts to bury the deceased.

Odinukaeze, as seen on his obituary poster, died at the age of 83, but was later buried when he was 97 because his body remained in the morgue for 15 years. While some sources said that the eldest son of the deceased, Emeka, was away overseas which was why the family was able to finally bury their father, others maintained that it took the legal action filed by the proprietor of the hospital where their late father’s remains were kept, to get the family to carry and bury their long deceased father. Dr. Felix Iwudibia, proprietor of St. Felix Hospital in whose facility the deceased was kept, confirmed the incident and told our correspondent that he incurred a lot of losses with the corpse literally abandoned in his mortuary for about 15 years.

He said: “After several entreaties to the family to come and take away the corpse of their father failed, about two years ago, I was compelled to institute a legal action against the family and particularly those who deposited the corpse and the case is still in court.

“However, while we were still waiting for the pronouncement of court on the matter, the family on the 29th of April came to the hospital, settled their bills and carried away the corpse of their father and I understand the corpse has been duly buried by the family.” One of the sons of the deceased, Leonard Odinukaeze also confirmed to our correspondent that their late father had been in the mortuary for 15 years. He explained that their late father married three wives and it was due to the rigmarole of the first son, Emeka that delayed their father’s burial.

According to him, it pained him that their father who took very good care of his family, made sacrifices and left legacies and substantial amount of properties for his family, should be subjected to such shabby treatment in death. He lamented that all efforts by the family, kinsmen and community leaders to ensure that their father was given a befitting burial in good time was thwarted by their eldest brother who claimed he was trying to complete the building for the repose of the soul of his late father. “Our father was erecting a storey building and had completed the decking before his death.

His dying wish was to be buried in the ground of that building but due to the controversy thrown up by our eldest brother, we were not able to grant him that wish, but instead we buried him at the old house and most ironically, our eldest brother did not participate in the burial.

“Our bill at the hospital was N1.8million but the proprietor of St Felix Hospital, Dr. Felix Iwudibia, following our pleas, slashed the bill and we paid a total of N1.4million before we eventually took our late father’s corpse for burial on the 30th of April, 2019. It was a regrettable episode but we are happy we have finally put the matter to rest,” he told Sunday Telegraph. Efforts to reach the eldest son proved abortive as Leonard said he did not have his mobile number, while other sources were insinuating that Emeka was abroad at the time of

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has asked the Nigerian Senate to make public their investigations on the former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Frank threatened to drag the red chamber to court if it fails to release the report at the expiration of seven days.
The Senate had set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the dismissed civil servant on how he (Maina) got into the country after he left the shores of Nigeria and trailing a report that he was on EFCC wanted list for about two years.

Maina, before he was dismissed due to several allegations led the PRTT which was inaugurated on 10th June, 2010 by the former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, with a clear mandate to restructure the Head of Service Pension Office, Police Pension Office, among others.
In a statement on Sunday, Frank also condemned in strong terms, what he called persecution of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The political activist said, “Since it is an era of fighting corruption, all hands must be on deck. The Senate must reveal to the general public what its committee discovered during the investigation of former Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension, Abdulrasheed Maina.

“I have, however, prepared my lawyers to sue the Nigerian Senate if its ad hoc committee fail to make public the outcome of its investigation in the next seven days. This is necessary for the nation Nigeria to know who are her real enemies and those who have served her diligently,” Timi Frank said.
While condemning the sealing of residential houses located in Ikoyi, Lagos, owned by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, by the EFCC, Frank said the APC administration has mismanaged the much talked about fight against corruption for witch-hunting of perceived political enemies.
“These same houses were the reason the Senate President was earlier investigated by the same EFCC and later dragged to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the case went all the way to the Supreme Court of Nigeria where Sen. Bukola Saraki was discharged and acquitted, it goes to show that APC’s administration has shown that, it is a lawless government.

“Nigerians at all level must speak up against injustices in the land. We must help the clueless government of APC in the fight against corruption. Political persecution should not be seen as right against corruption.”

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has insisted that he does not own any bank accounts or property abroad.

Jonathan stated this in a statement issued on Saturday by his media adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, in reaction to a report that claimed that lawyers representing the Federal Government, in a London court filing, accused him of accepting bribes in order “to broker a $1.3 billion oil deal eight years ago”.
He dismissed the report on the controversial Malabu oil deal as a recycled falsehood that is blatantly dishonest, cheap and predictable.

“Former President Goodluck Jonathan did not ask for or collect any bribes, neither has he been charged for asking or collecting bribes, neither will he ever be charged with asking for or collecting bribes, because such never happened.

“That this particular dispute predated the Jonathan administration and survives it. That former President Jonathan is 61 years old and throughout his life has never opened an account, nor owned property outside Nigeria,” he said.

The statement added, “In fact, we expected something like this ever since it was announced that former President Jonathan would lead the Election Observation Mission of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa to South Africa’s national and provincial elections.

“We are well aware that this claim was intentioned to eclipse the goodwill and positive reports of former President Jonathan’s diligent engagement in South Africa’s national and provisional elections.

“The fact that most major media houses in the country refused to republish this falsehood bears out our conviction that Nigerians can no longer be deceived by hollow and diversionary claims of corruption, in the face of worsening state of affairs in the country.
“We have always made it clear that beyond this wave of conjecture, former President Jonathan was not linked, indicted or charged with collecting any monies as kickbacks or bribes from ENI by the Italian authorities or any other law enforcement body the world over.

“It bears repeating that the documents relating to the transactions and decisions of the Federal Government on the Malabo issue, during the Jonathan administration, are in the relevant Government offices, where they are accessible.

“We would like to point out that all the actions taken by the Jonathan administration in relation to activities in the oil industry were legally conducted by relevant Nigerian Government officials and were carried out in the best interest of the country.”

The statement added that whether in office or out of office, former president Jonathan still “does not own any bank account, business or real estate outside Nigeria”.

Don't Come To Cry At My Grave, Help Me Now - Ailing Nollywood Actor, Fadeyi Cries out

Veteran Nigerian actor, Fadeyi Oloro who has ben ill for some time, has cried out for help from well-wishers.[Image: Fadeyi.JPG]
Fadeyi Oloro

It is no longer news that famed Yoruba actor, Ojo Arowosafe, who is more popularly known as Fadeyi Oloro, is sick and in need of medical attention. In this interview with DUPE AYINLA-OLASUNKANMI, the actor, who is down with complications resulting from tuberculosis and presently staying in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, away from the buzz surrounding him, speaks on his state of health and other issues.

There have been lots of reports on your death?

Emi ma re o (this is me). I am not dead o.

How are you feeling?

I am not okay, that is because I have exhausted all the money with me for treatment. This is not my house. It was when the whole thing started that my family brought me here to keep a low profile. I used to stay at Meiran, Lagos State. And I have been reaching out to the public, but I had to face my God. I was not like this before, I could not walk. But I am better now. Right now, I don’t have enough money for the treatment I need. I cannot work at the moment; my shoulder, hand and legs are not responding well. I cannot stand on my own, I am usually assisted whenever I want to stand or use my walk (ing) stick as support. I am just pleading with my fans and lovers to continue and stand up for support, some people have tried, but I need more financial support.

Why are you just reaching out to the public?

I didn’t want to at first because I thought it was something I could take care of. I was paying for my drugs and treatment all by myself. It is because I don’t have the capacity anymore that is making me reach out to the public. I sold my car but the money was not enough, and I became handicapped. That was when I reached out to the public for assistance.

When did the ailment start?

It was about five years ago if I am not miscalculating.

You are reaching out to the public for support but what exactly is wrong with you?

My doctor is the one in the right position to tell what the ailment is. He has been discussing with some foreign doctors on my case. I have been treated, but there is no difference. If there is money, the ailment is something that can be treated here in Nigeria. There will be no need to waste money travelling abroad for treatment.

Could this be a spiritual attack, being a prominent actor?

I can’t really say. I have been instructed not to take any herbal medicine, except the drugs being given to me at the clinic. And with the way things are, the drugs are not working as expected. By now, I should be walking unassisted. And I have discussed this with my doctor; I was given drugs, but no changes.

Have you considered all you described as aging symptoms?

Excuse me, I am a young man. I am not old.

What is the next thing for you?

I plan to continue seeing my doctor. But I have to also consider alternative treatment now; herbs. I am not feeling fine.  I just started talking and I was not like this before. If I can be walking unassisted and the parts of my body that are not responding well get back to their normal condition, I will be okay.

What do you want from the public and have your colleagues reached out?

No, I haven’t heard from them. And I do not blame them. They did the same to Baba Suwe and Alabi Yellow.  Who am I to complain? It was when I saw that I might be dying that I called out to the public.

You are a known actor, but  why is getting help taking so much time?

Yes, I am a known actor and I have worked with so many politicians while acting. If I could walk, I could have gotten into my car and gone to meet them. But I don’t even have a car anymore. There is no politician that I will stand in his presence and will say he cannot recognize me. I have also stopped producing movies too, because of the market we have. Movies are no longer sold out at the marketer’s places.

Why did you stop producing?

I had stopped producing about five years ago because of the high rate of piracy then. And also nobody could pay my money, just like the likes of Jide Kosoko, Taiwo Hassan. We are only being called to help them feature in movies. And because I was so passionate about my job, and the name I wanted to make, I had no choice but to help them. Some would come and say they want to pay me 50,000 or 100,000 for a week job. And I am a socialite.

Before I leave location, I have people who will come that they want to eat and it is out of that money that I will give to them. How many people do we tell this to? But the job continues. The market was what actually made me to  stop working. It is my own job that I can say is working for me.  I call people to come on set and I pay them off. And you cannot expect someone like me to produce a movie with N500,000. If I struggle to spend like millions on a movie, I am likely to go bankrupt because of  piracy.

Let’s talk about your character, Fadeyi Oloro. What is the good and bad side of it?

See, acting is my passion and is still my passion. The good part is that it gave me name, money and fame. And I was also able to teach people that being wicked is not good to humankind. The character came to place when I acted the role of Fadeyi Oloro in the popular Jimoh Aliu’s TV production, ‘Yanpon Yanrin.’ He was my master. The character is actually the story of a man in his hometown in Oke Mesi, who was very popular for his wicked acts. One of his acts was going to the bush to pooh, and whenever he is coming back or going, and steps on anybody’s pooh, he would  pack it bring it home and sprinkle charm on it and the person would  die. All he did was to tell me the story of the man and I put in more efforts by bringing it into life and that was how the name stuck till date. One bad part was in the 80s, when some fans tore my cloth at Mushin, because of my character thinking I am a wicked person. I am a Christian.  I attend Cherubim and Seraphim at Abule Egba, Divine Parish. If not that I am sick, during the week I might not have time to attend service, but Sundays I don’t miss service. I have had a young man in my church dumbfounded because he could not believe that I was in a church. It took him like a minute, before he could talk. I am only using my character in movies to teach, which is also my profession.

As a socialite, how many wives did you have and how many are with you presently?

I don’t have more than a wife.

Are you saying you have been married to one woman all your life?

No, I have married other women, but they usually leave me. But I am proud of just one who had children for me.

Why did they leave?

I don’t know why they left.

Tell us about your costumes, who does it?

I do my painting and costume myself. We are talking freely with each other now. But if I excuse myself and ask you to give me some time, by the time I go in and come back, you will run away. I will have to be the one to call you back, that it is still the same person that excused himself. That is what is being called a professional. The character has done a great deal for me, as an actor. Most people do not even know my name. Sometimes I challenge them whenever they call me Fadeyi Oloro. When I put on my costume, I am another person.

Do you plan to return to acting when you fully recover?

I have not quit acting. As I am now, not being able to walk, if I have people call me and say I don’t need to walk about, I will gladly put on my costume and get into character.

We are yet to see anybody take up your character since your absence?

It is God’s gift. If I am coming back again and  it will be my own production. I will not be coming under any group. It will be a personal production and will be telling people I am back again. I am not dead. This I believe will pull more crowd.

How much are you looking at for you treatment?

Even If I am given a million, I cannot really say this is the amount I need. The call I received some minutes ago is from a doctor who is based abroad and presently in Nigeria. He said he is in Osun State at the moment, but will send me a message to go to a hospital in Ogun State. He asked what the cause of my sickness is and I said tuberculosis, which can cause a whole lot of other things. And I asked him about the cost, he said I should forget about money for now and go there first. He said I should forget about the past treatment that they will have to start all over again. That they will treat me  until I am back on my feet and then money can be discussed.

What is your wish?

I want people to stand up and help me now that I need help. I don’t want people to come to my grave when I am no more and come and be crying. It is now that they should come out and help me financially because I want to be back on my feet. I have a long way to go in this industry.

A Nigerian man has emerged a graduate at the age of 62 and his success story has left many people emotional on social media.[Image: nkeoma.JPG]

The man is a graduate at 62

The story has been told of a man who defied the odds and became a graduate at the age of 62. His story was told on social media his his daughter identified as Nkeoma.

According to Nkeoma, her father could not go to school when he was a young man because he had no funding but he had always wanted to go back back.

Many years later, against all odds, he seized the bull by the hands and went back to school as an old man and now he is the happiest man in the world as he bags a degree,

Below is how Nkeoma told the story on her Instagram page:

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

"Should we tell them? Yes we should.

"This right here is a picture of my dad in a convocation gown as he graduates from the department of Music in the #nnamdiazikiweuniversity @unizikcampus two days ago.

"YES! My popsy went back to school , he went back to times and turned it's hands, he fulfilled a long , tall dream and today HE IS EDUCATED. He has always wanted to be,

"I can't count how many times he and everyone else we knew told us the story of how he was the best in his class,

"how he was one of the few people to pass the primary 6 entrance examination to Okongwu Memorial Grammer School - one of the best in the eastern states as at then,

"how he couldn't be admitted because there was no money for tuition, how he trekked from #ezinifite Aguata to #nnewi to go and beg the Principal to allow him start so that his uncle who already had two of his children in school that same year can breathe from paying theirs before paying his,

"how he was rejected and how he cried all the way back home as he watched his dreams wipe off before his eyes as he wipes off the sweat and tears... he will always end that story by saying "so I came back and went to go and do boy boy" .

"He told that story! Severally, as an advise, as a wake up call, in anger, in frustration and in love. Oh how that story built us, how it informed us, we were so determined , he was so determine to ensure that all of us went to school at least Secondary, he drew blood, sweat, sacrifice just to see that happen,

"I remember when my two brothers decided on their own to stop at Secondary school so that Ada (me) can have a shot at education, he cried, I cried, we cried but then that's all we could really do at then.

"OK enough of the emoshonal talk, let's all FOCUS... My dad is a graduate, I can't loud it enough, just like play play o, he only just wanted to have a secondary school certificate to his name, so he sat for #NABTEB , then he went for a #diploma and then direct entry and today he graduated with a 2.2 at the age of 62.

"Dear Daddy, I know this sounds better when you say it, but I am proud of you and I love you, always. Thank you"[Image: nkeoma1.JPG][Image: nkeoma2.JPG][Image: nkeoma3.JPG]

The heartbreaking story has been told of a man who took as many as 13 years to die after being shot in a bar.[Image: marvin.jpg]
Marvin was left unable to communicate when he was shot at the bar in east London

A man has been arrested 17 years after a shooting which left the victim confined to a hospital bed, unable to communicate, until he died more than a decade later.

Detectives have been investigating the murder of Marvin Couson, who died on August 8, 2015, for 13 years, after he was shot at the Lime In London Bar, Shoreditch, east London, on May 12, 2002.

A man, 40, was arrested on Thursday morning on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and is being questioned at a west London police station.

Marvin Couson’s family have never found out why he was shot and all his children remember of him is his time in hospital (Picture: Met Police)

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, from the Metropolitan Police’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: ‘We are days away from the 17th anniversary of Marvin’s shooting and this morning we have made a significant arrest.

‘I hope that it will encourage people to take themselves back to the Lime Bar on 12 May 2002. Witnesses have come forward and we are hugely grateful for their help but heartbreakingly some have not or have given incomplete accounts of what happened that night.

‘I understand by the nature of the crime there may be reluctance to get involved or perhaps people just feel they have moved on as it was so long ago.

‘Well, Marvin’s family haven’t, they have endured years of heartache, visiting his hospital bedside every day for 13 years while he lay paralysed before finally succumbing to his injuries.’[Image: marvin2.jpg]
Mr Couson’s sister Margaret Couson said after the arrest: ‘On Sunday May 12 it will be the anniversary of Marvin’s shooting.

‘It is remarkable that it is 17 years since Marvin was shot and his killer remains at large, not a day goes by when we don’t think of Marvin.

‘That awful incident has ruined so many lives and each day I wake and go to sleep thinking of Marvin. I ask “why?”. Marvin wasn’t involved in crime, he loved life and his family, he had the best years of his life ahead of him.

‘His two children turn 20 and their only memory is their dad being in hospital and the face of a media campaign. They have been robbed of just having their dad there.

‘I am encouraged that no matter how much time passes by, the police do not give up and we as a family most certainly will not give up our fight for justice. Things do not just move on, we have been in trauma for 17 years.’

Mr Couson was 26 when he was shot in front of 300 people outside the bar, which no longer exists, leaving him in a vegetative state at the Royal London Hospital.

A man was arrested on May 23, 2002, in connection with the shooting but was subsequently released with no further action.

Adeleke Will Get Victory At Supreme Court –broth
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-12-2019, 12:31 PM - No Replies

Dele, a sibling of the hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2018 Osun State governorship race, Ademola Adeleke, has communicated certainty that the Supreme Court would overrule the Court of Appeal and announce the congressperson as the properly chosen legislative leader of the state.

Adeleke scored 254,698 votes to conquer the applicant of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who surveyed 254,345 votes, in the September 22, 2018 race.

Be that as it may, the race was proclaimed uncertain by the Independent National Electoral Commission because of the crossing out of aftereffects of some surveying units.

Oyetola, in the long run, scored the most noteworthy number of votes in the strengthening race to develop as the champ of the surveys.

In any case, the Election Petitions Tribunal upturned Oyetola's triumph and articulated Adeleke the victor.

In any case, the Court of Appeal a week ago decided for Oyetola, putting aside the decision of the council.

Dele, in a meeting with SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday, said the substance of the case under the watchful eye of the investigative court was discarded in light of "insignificant details."

He stated, "One had an abnormal state of assumptions about polished skill and anticipated that some itemized work should be finished. Be that as it may, someone just discarded everything on negligible details and overlooking the substance of the case. This rubbishes everything that equity should speak to.

"Equity should be about details. It is crazy. There is no how you will catch wind of such and won't be baffled yet his spirit has not hosed. Congressperson Ademola Adeleke is a child of Balogun (war administrator) in this way, such can't hose his spirits.

"He has the firm conviction that the Supreme Court will see the mistakes in the judgment of the Court of Appeal and will settle on the choice to address them and reestablish the desire for the regular man in the legal executive. Nearly everyone is stunned by the judgment of the Court of Appeal except for a couple of recipients of the disease.

"Everyone realizes that Senator Ademola Adeleke is the genuine victor and the holder of the command of the general population of Osun State. We believe that the Supreme Court will get that going."

OPL 245: Jonathan, Diezani received bribes, FG tells London court

May 12, 2019

[url=https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/alison-madueke-jonathan-740x404.jpg][/url]

The Federal Government has approached a London commercial court with claims that former President Goodluck Jonathan and former oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke conspired to “receive bribes and make a secret profit” in respect of the controversial OPL 245 offshore oilfield.
Although the case is largely against Shell and the Italian oil giant Eni, the federal government accused Jonathan and Diezani of denying Nigeria what it was owed from the oil deal.

It said the duo accepted bribes and broke the laws in brokering the $1.3 billion oil deal in 2011.
“Bribes were paid. The receipt of those bribes and the participation in the scheme of said officials was in breach of their fiduciary duties and Nigerian criminal law,” it said.

The bone of contention is payment   made by Shell and Eni to acquire the licence for the oilfield thought to be one of the most lucrative in the country.

Its reserves are estimated at nine billion barrels.
Shell and Eni jointly acquired the rights to the OPL 245 offshore oilfield but the deal went awry, leading to legal cases in several countries.

Nigeria claims to have  received only  $209 million as signature bonus on the  deal, it estimates the value of the oilfield to have been “at least $3.5 billion”.
The Nigerian government has also filed a London case against U.S. bank JPMorgan for its role in transferring over $800 million of government funds to another former oil minister Chief Dan Etete, who has been convicted of money laundering.
JPMorgan has denied any wrongdoing.

Nigerian Stock Exchange

Stocks listed in the oil and gas, industrial and consumer goods sub sectors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange are daily trailing their listed stocks in other sub segments as a result of which their sub sectoral indexes are the worst performing on the NSE year to date. When transactions ended last week, the NSE Oil & Gas Index closed at 302.23 representing negative 12.35 percent loss year to date. The NSE Industrial Index closed lower at 1,096.75 as against 1,237.88 at the beginning of the year just as the NSE Consumer Good Index ended the week at 669.53 in contrast to 748.83 and that amounted to -10.59 percent year to date.

Whereas the All Share Index (ASI) closed last week at 28,847.81 as against 31,430.50 on the last trading day of 2018, representing -8.22 percent YTD, by closing at -12.35 percent, -11.40 percent and -10.59 percent, the oil & gas, industrial and consumer goods sub sectoral indexes emerged the worst performing indexes on the NSE, as the stock components are among the laggards on the NSE.

Analysts across the capital market are of the views that while the equity valuations hold much promise for long term investors, there is need for triggers that will stimulate significant interest in the market.

“Looking ahead, we expect activities in the local bourse to remain tepid in absence of positive triggers that could spur massive buying interest. However, we do not rule out the possibility of intermittent gains in the market on the backdrop of bargain hunting of stocks with relatively cheap prices”, United Capital said in a note to clients.

Seven stocks make up the components of the NSE Industrial Index which are Conoil, Forte Oil, Mobil, MRS, Oando, Total and Seplat. Year to date, only Forte Oil has appreciated while others have recorded different degrees of depreciation in their prices. Forte Oil closed last week at N34.95 per share which translated to 21.8 percent YTD price appreciation.
On the contrary, Conoil ended the period at N20.10 per share which translated to -13.5 percent returns. Mobil ended at N173 per share translating to -6.7 percent; MRS, -18.9 percent; Oando, -4 percent; Total, 20.2 percent, and Seplat, -18.4 percent.
The NSE Industrial Index has 10 components which are Berger, Betaglass, CAP, CCNN, Cutix, First Aluminium and Meyer. Others are Portland Paint, Dangote Cement and Wapco.

Only First Aluminium, 16.7 percent; Cutix, 12.8 percent; Betaglass, 1 percent are the advancers years to date. Even at that, these stocks control an insignificant amount of the weight of the index. On the other hand Meyer Paints’ share price remained unchanged year to date while CAP, -2.4 percent; Dangote Cement Wapco which are the tow heavyweights in that index shed -5.6 percent and -11.6 percent respectively. Berger, -14.5 percent and CCNN, -21.1 percent are also among the decliners.
The NSE Consumer Goods Index has fifteen stocks as components. These include Cadbury, Champion Breweries, Dangote Flour, Flour Mills, Guinness and PZ. Others are Unilever, Vitafoam, Honeywell, International Breweries, NASCON, Nigerian Breweries, Nestle and Northern Nigerian Flour Mills.

Meanwhile, the board of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has announced the departure of Karima Silvent who until last week was a non executive director in the company.

“AXA Mansard Insurance Plc wishes to notify The Nigerian Stock Exchange (The Exchange), esteemed shareholders, stakeholders and the public on the resignation of Karima Silvent, a Non-Executive Director of the Company, with effect from May 8, 2019. The resignation has been unanimously approved by the Board. The Board and Management of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc commends Karima Silvent for her leadership and overall contribution to the growth of the Company during her tenure on the Board”, a notice sent to the Exchange and signed by Omowunmi Mabel Adewusi, company secretary stated.

“Politicians Not Different From Prostitutes” – Sheikh Gumi
User Avatar Forum: News

The revered Kaduna based Islamic cleric, Shiekh (Dr) Ahmad Gumi on Friday averred that there is no difference between a politician and a prostitute particularly those who jump from one political party to another.

According to the Islamic cleric who was asked if they (Islamic Clerics) have any influencing powers on politicians particularly those who are Muslims, said “Most politicians lack ideology and that is why they jump from one political party to another and there is no difference between them and the prostitutes” he stressed.

Sheikh Gumi responded to the question from an audience of majorly seminarians and Catholic priests shortly after delivering a paper at the ongoing second theology week organized by the Good Shepherd Major Seminary in Kaduna.

He said, clerics give counsel when necessary but while some politicians will take to the counsel, others do not for reasons best known to them.

On his paper titled, “Preaching and conscience formation of society in Islam’ said, ” Islam coming almost 600years after Christianity. As another system of values, logically has a stand about the other established religions before it.

First and foremost, it recognizes the unity in the foundation of the Abrahamic theological faith of monotheism. It recognizes the prophets and their revelations, and therefore encourages dialogue and discussions by way of persuasions not arguments”.

He posited therefore that not everybody in the society is a believer, adding that to compliment preaching in molding the conscience of its adherence, Islam has employed to other basic approaches to personality and character engineering which has influenced the world subsequently during its era of spread and expansion.

He stressed that the role of homilies in the conscience formation can never be over stated, adding that the society needs to be constantly reminded of its obligation towards God and Man, but lamented however that it is evident that the society is deviating and becoming Kore and more resistance to positive change andnregusing to listen to sermons.

” By increasing intelligence, personal interest is overriding societal and collective benefit because of lack of wisdom. There is a loss of reference and moral compass to guide our conscience. Fake reformers with.seductive slogans taking the.stage, their fruitsbas bitter as gall with little or no option left.

” With vices on the rise, vices of every nature known and unknown, kidnappings, rape, ritual murders etc, genueine men of truth should stand out as the moral voice of sajitu in defiance to injustice, prejudice, bigotry, hunger and share evil” he admonished.

He said, Muslims should adhere to their religious devotion but adopt the persuasion methodology in the changing world of conflicting interests. “The non Muslims should sew Islam as another system of values, the modern world cannot survive from the scourged of societal ills without its recognition and acceptance as another solution to salvage mankind”.

Responding to the paper presentation, Father Chukwunweike Emehel said, there is no gain saying the fact that is a correlation between the mills of any given society and the sense of moral obligation of those who form part of that society.

I Have Taken Enough Insults From Oshiomhole – Okorocha
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-12-2019, 11:38 AM - No Replies

Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, the governor of Imo State, in this interview,
bares his mind on his running battle with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, accusing the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, of conniving with the electoral umpire to frustrate his ambition for the Upper Legislative Chamber, the Senate; among other salient national issues. Excerpts:

How far have you gone about your Certificate of Return seized by INEC?

Last week, I wrote a letter to INEC officials myself informing INEC about their wrong doings and illegal actions; withhold my certificate on mere allegations, which was never investigated. INEC on its own believed the report of its Returning Officer without verifying the authenticity of such allegation. So, there was no issue of fair hearing at all, whether I committed the offence that their person alleged.

However, what is important here is that INEC doesn’t have the power to withhold a certificate of return, having declared a result. Both the certificate of return and the declaration is just one subject matter. The other one is ceremonial because the result has been declared. It has become obvious that the INEC Chairman is up to a game with the Chairman of APC, who are bent on frustrating my senatorial ambition. I have given enough time to INEC officials to do the needful and issue me my certificate of return, all to no avail.

My case has witnessed a lot of drama. INEC that made a submission to the tribunal in Owerri has gone back to withdraw the submission it made. The submission they made was defending the declaration by INEC, which is normal. But because that submission was seen to be in my favour, INEC has gone back to say they will withdraw the submission, which is also out of time.

Furthermore, the APC National Chairman has allegedly approached the tribunal to also ask to withdraw the submission of the party. What INEC is doing is the same thing the APC is doing. So, this tells you that there is a game going on. I wonder what they will do with the certificate. If they don’t give me the certificate, who will they give it to?

But you were one of those who supported him to emerge as the National Chairman of your party. What suddenly happened that he is now against you?

There is nothing personal between me and Adams Oshiomhole, other than that Adams Oshiomhole is part and parcel of this high level conspiracy to bring down Rochas politically. This is just aimed at making sure that Rochas doesn’t have a solid foundation politically. They say if I get to the Senate, I want to run for the President and all of that; I want to run for 2023 elections. Who told them? Have I declared? You wait until I declare and when I do declare, we now fight politically.

But what is painful is that the Adams Oshiomhole that I literally put into this position, I never asked him to do me any favour, but all I requested of him is to do what is right, could turn around to commit this evil of mankind. It is totally unacceptable. That the party that I formed, that brought out the APC we have today will treat me in this manner is also unfortunate because the evil I feared in the PDP has befallen me ten times in the APC. I hate injustice and that’s what I’m seeing on a daily basis.

There are allegations of alleged anti-party activities against you. That you supported one of your principal officers to join another party to contest and even used state machinery to support him

You forgot there was a primaries. There was even a congress where the then Organizing Secretary, Osita Izunaso allegedly ran away with the ballot boxes and the Police Commissioner was later transferred? It is just a booklet that is opened page by page, on a daily basis by the authors. Gulak came and ran away with the result sheets and said election is finished. The security were there and all of these people. That’s part of the conspiracy. It’s not about anti-party.

You met with the President on this matter on two occasions. How come the party has not resolved the problem?

What I took to the President was entirely a different matter because I believe that this matter shouldn’t be a matter that Mr. President should come in. If you know President Muhammadu Buhari as a person, he is not such a person who interferes. Once he gives you a job, you do your job, he doesn’t want to interfere. At the end of it all, you make yourself good or bad. I know his style and I know his person. So, I didn’t want to belabour him with ‘talk to this’ or ‘that person’ on what is clear and right.

You are very close to the President and there is this impression that the President may be behind this?

I don’t think Mr. President is behind this. Buhari is definitely not behind this. If you know President Muhammadu Buhari in his own style, you will know that he will keep quiet and never say anything about this until they prove themselves right or wrong.

If those behind it are very close to President, can’t the President call them to order?

Remember this matter has to do with INEC and INEC is perceived to be independent and if Mr. President is going to talk to INEC, he’s interfering with the independence of INEC. Whether Mr. President speaks or not, what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong.

Do you still feel comfortable in the APC?

I am APC. I have never thought of leaving the party for now and I have no reason because I won under the platform of APC.

When you say the misfortune you feared in PDP has fallen ten times on the APC, are you still comfortable remaining and allowing the misfortune to multiply?

Where will I go to? I have to be in the APC, I formed the APC.

Are you stranded?

I am not stranded, I remain in APC and I have not indicated that I’m going to leave APC. Remember that the intention of these people is to frustrate me out of politics and out of APC so that they can have a field of play. But all I advise today is that let no institution or organization allow themselves to be used as an instrument to destroy somebody politically, who has committed no offence.

If by chance you meet Adams Oshiomhole today, what will you tell him?

We will chat as usual. What will I do to him? The last time I saw Oshiomhole was when I went to his office and he sent his SSS man to insult me in his office, before the governorship candidate of Akwa Ibom, the NDDC guy, Obong Nsima Ekere, who also reacted against the gentleman. An SSS was pushing me out as a governor from his office. So, I’ve taken enough insults from Oshiomhole and all those that are planning this evil.

You said the anti-graft agencies are on the trail of many people in your government. Are you suspecting that they are part of this conspiracy because what they said before the election, they claimed that you were taking money from government coffers for vote buying?

First and foremost, if you think right and people reason well, if you want to withdraw N17 billion in this country now, it will take you two years to get N17 billion from all the banks in Nigeria. So, these are frivolities. But anybody can say anything against you just to find a way to attack you and I’m saying that they should reason well in what they do. Nobody should be used as an instrument to fight anybody for political reasons. If not, such institutions also will lose their credibility.

Aren’t you worried about the deteriorating security situation?

It is of great concern really and my heart goes to those who have lost their dear ones. What is happening in Nigeria, we don’t need it. We don’t need such distractions. We don’t need such bloodsheds. But what is happening is deeper than we all can tell because at a point, we thought it was taking a religious tone. The fight against this insurgency should be collective responsibility and not for government alone. These people are taking advantage of the disunity amongst all us. We need to close ranks to fight insurgency and band itry. But how can you deal with a matter when you are divided.

How did you tackle kidnapping in Imo?

What I did was very simple. All the autonomous communities in Imo State, six hundred and something, of them, I called a meeting of the Ezes, the chief security officers and set up a community government council, so that after federal, state and local, I had and I still have a community government working in Imo State and each of them is charged with the responsibility to fight crime without arms. First of all, information is key. We lack adequate information on the activities of the Boko Haram and the kidnappers. If you don’t have information, you will be shooting in the dark and wasting arms, spending more money than you should.

When I set up this community government council, it changed the story in Imo State. Within a few days, I began to see results. I developed what is called the black book. In my black book, they got me names of all the criminals, while protecting the traditional rulers because it was a personal matter between me and security agencies. We even got to know about somebody who built up something in his roof where he disappears and he is a kidnapper. So, the day we led operation to go and get the gentleman, they pay loader was there, they said the man had disappeared. The man told us that even if the man disappears, we should continue and break down that house. As we did that, the man came out like a rat. That’s the power of information. But I would have spent money hiring army, police, pay allowance and overnight allowance, meanwhile the man is eating food upstairs there for one year. So, information is nor there and that is a major problem of the nation’s insecurity.

The Federal Government is blocking governors from local government accounts. What is your view, especially as chairman of APC governors forum?

How the three tiers of government operate is a constitutional issue and local government is one of these tiers of government. There is no clear cut arrangement as to how local government affairs are managed because it is still the state assemblies that make their laws and control their activities. If you look at the other side, the local governments are actually a part of the state government. If the local governments do not come together, what they will be operating will be on recurrent expenditures. Take for instance, in Imo State, and I must say this proudly that I do not know of any state where the local government has achieved the much I have achieved. Today, in my local government, they built a 200 bed hospital in each of the local governments. We built 546 primary schools in the wards because of this arrangement. We have ICT centre and we have done over 1,000 kilometers of road.

Before I became governor, I checked the local government achievements; all I saw was borehole and transformer and renovation of health centres. So, the funds of local governments cannot impact on any major project unless there is a collective arrangement. Again, I think the idea of Federal Government or NFIU, in this matter is because of the perceived corruption that takes place within the system. As it is, I think there should be better clear cut issues as to the autonomy of the local government, based on the constitutional provision.

You claim to be popular haven done a lot of projects, but why were the people celebrating when the APC stripped you of hold on the party?

It is not true. We have a population of over 5 million people and you say a hundred youths, miscreants, coming out tearing billboards and you say they celebrate. No sane person in Imo State will tell you that Rochas has not done well because the record I have set in Imo cannot be broken soon. I’ve beaten the records of those before me. This might shock you and it is subject to verification that what I have done in Imo State, if you put together what others that have governed Imo State for the past 34 years have done, it cannot be equal to what I have done. Let somebody come and say it is not true. Today, Imo State has an International Cargo Airport, the best in the country. Last week, FAAN confirmed so, the best and the biggest in the country. Recently, I collected 3 university licenses, I have built six universities all completed. Who has built it? I built six universities because I needed them, because Imo State remains the highest in the number of JAMB candidates. Since 2011, because of my free education policy, more children go to school now in Imo State. When I came, I had over 600 students in the primary schools, today, I have over close to a million students going to school and they don’t pay a dime in all the tertiary institutions. I proudly say so. In 2012 for instance the number of students looking for JAMB admission from Imo State was 143,000 in Nigeria. The second was 67,000 in Delta and we have maintained the lead for the past seven years and we can only take about 20 percent.

While embarking on these projects, are you looking at sustainability? Can a state like yours sustain six universities?

You should have asked me how does a single man in this country offer free education to over 22,000 children with 6,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduates via the Rochas Foundation. It is not money, it is vision. Where there is no vision, the people perish, it didn’t say where there is no money. But you people put money first. If I am still the Governor of Imo State or allowed to advise whoever is there, those institutions will run hitch free because every university can fund itself in this country.

What is your own narrative of what happened on Election Day. Did your supporters kidnap the Returning Officer?

When people ask the question of what happened on the day of the election, they forget that election venue is not Sambisa forest. There are human beings in the place. You have SSS, you have the police, you have the army, you have the Navy, you have the Airforce, you have agents of the party. You have all these people there and remember that it is the collation centre, so all the security from local governments all gathered there to protect the votes. The Army has told you there was nothing like that. The police wrote in their report that there was nothing like that. SSS report said there was nothing like that. The agents of the parties, including the one of PDP, nobody has said that. The candidates never said there was one.

All the candidates of the party never said there was any duress. Only one man: the Returning Officer and he also said on BBC Pidgin English that Rochas never touched him. Why didn’t he say it when he was submitting his report to INEC?

Quote:The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has withdrawn the Certificate of Return it issued to the chairman, senate committee on Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) and senator representing Delta North senatorial district of Delta state, Peter Nwaoboshi.

Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola Esq. INEC Director of Legal Services, Friday, issued the Certificate of Return withdrawn from the senator representing Delta North senatorial district of Delta state, Peter Nwaoboshi to Ned Nwoko as Senator-Elect for Delta North Senatorial District at the commission's headquarters Abuja, amidst jubilation by well wishers, political associates, family members and supporters of the senator-elect.

Last month, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had nullified the election of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and declared Ned Nwoko winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta North senatorial primary.

Delivering his judgement in April 3, 2019, the presiding judge, Justice A. R Mohammed had ruled that from all available evidence before the court, Ned Nwoko convincingly won the Delta North PDP senatorial primary election held on 2nd, October 2018.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that following the judgement, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrew the Certificate of Return it issued to the chairman, senate committee on Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) and senator representing Delta North senatorial district of Delta state, Peter Nwaoboshi and presented same to Ned Nwoko as the Senator-Elect for Delta North Senatorial District of Delta state.

Photos: EFCC seizes Saraki’s Ikoyi houses

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized some houses belonging to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
According to reports, the houses are said to be located at 15a, 15b and 17, MacDonald Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

This development comes after the EFCC recently opened a fresh probe into Saraki’s activities while he was governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011. The EFCC in a statement sent to the Kwara state government, said that Saraki is to be investigated for an alleged case of conspiracy, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds, theft, and money laundering.

The houses that were recently seized, were part of Saraki’s trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) at the beginning of his Senate Presidency. The suit was later dismissed for lack of evidence.

Confirming the sealing of the property, Saraki's spokesperson, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in a statement released, said

Quote:“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has marked certain property belonging to Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, obviously under the claim that they are subjects of investigation.
“The action of the EFCC only reinforced our earlier stated position that their current investigation is mischievous, contrary to the tenets of the rule of law and only aimed at settling scores.
“This position is founded on the fact that these same buildings were the subject of earlier investigations by the EFCC, as well as the case initiated by the Federal Government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
“Also, the case went all the way to the highest court in our country, the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In that case, Dr. Saraki was discharged and acquitted because the courts believe the government has no case.”

There are claims that the EFCC is keeping Saraki under surveillance before May 29th when he will be asked to come forward for questionning.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 12TH MAY.

KEEP YOUR MIND ON HIM

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those [who live] according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded [is] death, but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace (Romans 8:5-6 NKJV).

To be carnally minded means to set your mind on fleshly, worldly things. The Christian who is carnally minded is governed or ruled by his senses, emotions and the circumstances of life. The Bible warns that this produces death, a separation from the God-life.
On the other hand, the Christian who is spiritually minded has his attention on the unseen realities of the Kingdom through the Word of God. He lives by the Word, and responds to issues and situations on the basis of God’s Word.

Let me give you a simple example: when the man who is carnally minded feels a headache, coupled with fever, his senses tell him, “Now you’re sick; you may have just caught the flu.” And because his focus is on how he feels, he agrees and says, “I think I better see a doctor.”

On the contrary, when the man who is spiritually minded feels the same symptoms, he’s unperturbed, because he knows he’s uninfectable. His attention is on the Word, and according to the Word, divine health is his nature in Christ. Therefore, he says, “I refuse to be sick, because I have the life of God in me.”

The Bible lets us know that those who live by the senses cannot please God (Romans 8:8); that’s because they aren’t walking by faith, for without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Christianity is a walk in faith. Faith is the lifestyle of the just, and the basis for faith is the Word of God. Therefore, let the Word of God dominate your thinking and control your life.

Stay your mind on the Word and the Word alone, and have a life of absolute peace with prosperity. Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” The Hebrew word for “Peace” here is “Shalom”—the rest of God, wherein is prosperity, health, strength, etc. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

I refuse to be governed, controlled or ruled by the physical senses; rather, I see, think, talk and live by faith, and respond to issues and situations through the Word. I live in the Word and walk in the full consciousness of the spiritual Kingdom to which I belong, enjoying the full provisions of the Gospel, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1-2 AMPC Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, 2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

#TALKINGSESSION

12TH MAY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, how happy I am to know that You not only love me with an everlasting love, but also put it in my heart to love You, my Lord and maker. My heart is bowed in worship, for Your greatness, and for the honour and privilege to know, love, and serve you.

I’ll celebrate and sing of Your greatness and love all of my days. I thank you Father for making my life a bundle of joy and happiness. Your joy in my heart is my strength, and with joy, I draw out prosperity,
peace, success, health and other blessings from deep within me today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

The Department of State Security Services, DSS, has reacted to reports of its alleged indictment of the Chairman of the Presidential Election Tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.

In a statement signed by DSS Spokesman, Mr Peter Afunanya, the agency described the report as ‘false’.
The statement reads in full: “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to dissociate itself from a recent publication on a national daily, which claimed that the Chairman of the Presidential Election Tribunal, Justice Zainab BULKACHUWA, was purportedly indicted for bribery and corruption by a certain Secret Memo of the Service.

“Consequently, the DSS categorically states that the said memo only exists in the imagination of the writers and should be roundly disregarded by the reading public.
“It is unfortunate that the newspaper followed unethical ways to publish this falsehood. It is rather curious and indeed condemnable that the Newspaper did not reach out to the Service for its comments as would have been expected in a reportage of this nature.
“The Service has, nonetheless, launched a detailed investigation into the controversies surrounding the said publication.

“It is the wish of the service that it is left out of the manoeuvres of politicians who are hereby advised to abide by the rule of law and respect the entire process of electoral litigations regarding the activities of the tribunal.
“While it (the Service) will continue to collaborate with the media as strategic partners in nation building, it admonishes practitioners to be lawful and professional in the execution of their responsibility.
“However, mischief makers, intent on causing disaffection in the polity are warned to desist from such acts as the full weight of the law will be visited on defaulters.

“The DSS remains unwavering in providing the enabling environment for the pursuit of legitimate aspirations by well-meaning and law-abiding members of the populace.”

The 2019 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called for the release of Leah Sharibu from Boko Haram captivity.

The former Vice President stated this while commending members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) for rescuing 894 children from Boko Haram on Friday.

Recall that 15-year-old Sharibu was abducted on the night of February 19, last year, alongside her schoolmates of Government Science college, Dapchi in Yobe state.

However, the teenager was not released by her captors because she refused to denounce her Christian faith, while the other girls were freed by the terrorist group.
In a tweet on Saturday, Atiku said: “I welcome the release of 894 child soldiers. It is my hope that this will lead to the release of all others in captivity including Leah Sharibu.

“It is also my hope that steps will be taken to give these youngsters the needed support for reintegration.”

A Nigerian lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has dragged President Muhammadu Buhari to court for failing to hand over to the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

Buhari had on April 24 2019, left the country for what he described as a ‘private visit.’
The suit number FHC/L/CS/763/2019, was filed before a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Effiong is asking the Court to determine four issues which are: “Whether in view of the extant provisions of Section 145 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the 1st Defendant can validly proceed on vacation for any length of time without transmitting a written declaration to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to that effect, which will empower the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to perform the functions of the President in an acting capacity.
“Whether the 1st Defendant’s action in proceeding on vacation to the United Kingdom from the 25th day of April, 2019 to the 5th day of May, 2019 without transmitting the written declaration envisaged in Section 145 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not in conflict with the provisions of Section 145 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“Whether the 1st Defendant in refusing to adhere to the clear and unambiguous provisions of Section 145 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) has not by that singular action violated his oath of office and the Provisions of the Constitution which he swore to uphold.

“Whether the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) or any other law for that matter, permits the 1st Defendant to exercise presidential authority over the affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from any country outside the territorial jurisdiction of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, save when he is out of the country on official diplomatic engagements.”
The court is yet to fix a date for hearing of the case.

Buhari’s Cabinet Members Still Operating Bank Accounts Not Linked To TSA – Maina
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-11-2019, 06:37 PM - No Replies

Quote:Former chairman of the Pension Reforms Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has resurfaced with corruption allegations against serving officials in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Maina, a fugitive declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged that some top government officials are still operating bank accounts not linked to the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

TSA is a public accounting system using a single account, or a set of linked accounts by government to ensure all revenue receipts and payments are done through a Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The former pension chief was first removed from office in 2010 by former president, Goodluck Jonathan, on allegations of stealing pension funds.

He was secretly reinstated and promoted by officials in the present administration but was dismissed by Mr Buhari in 2017 when his reinstatement was made public.

Since his dismissal, he has gone underground, speaking from his hiding place.

In an interview on Human Rights Radio, 101.1 FM, Abuja, on Friday, the former pension boss pledged to come out of hiding if the president can assure him of full protection.

He said he was still in the country, contrary to reports that he has left, daring security agencies to storm his home and arrest him.

“I am in Nigeria, I just travelled for lesser Hajj, I have been in Nigeria for long, in my house. If I did something let them come and arrest me. I didn’t do anything,” Maina said revealing that the current Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, still operates bank accounts that are not linked to the Treasury Single Account.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Office has arrested one Ikechukwu Sunday Onovo, a 32-year-old suspected money transfer fraudster at one of the new generation Banks in Otukpo, Benue State.

He is an indigene of Nkanu-west Local Government of Enugu State, but resides in Makurdi, Benue State.
Onovo's method includes going to Benue State University Gate to report to the security that he lost his ATM card. The unwary security men would then hand over the pack of lost but found ATM cards of students to him to check if his own was among. And he would steal some of the cards.

With the stolen cards, Onovo would hang around ATM points to offer help to people who have problems operating the machine and in the process, deliberately gives his victim his stolen card and takes his or her own.

He will later go back to withdraw all his victim's money.
Onovo disclosed that he has made more than N1million (One Million Naira) through the fraud. He pointed out that there were so many other young men in the crime, who are operating in different locations in the country.

At the point of his arrest, the EFCC recovered two ATM cards (Diamond and FCMB), N15,000, ring, necklace and bracelets from him.

He will soon be charged to court.

Federal Government Approves $3.9bn For Warri Seaport
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-11-2019, 06:31 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, said the Federal Government has approved the construction for Warri seaport at the cost of about $3.9bn and also awarded the contract for the Abuja-Warri rail line.

Amaechi told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja that government also approved the linking of Abuja to Itakpe, Itakpe-Warri, then from Warri rail to the seaport.

“The President awarded the contract for Abuja to Warri, Abuja to Itakpe, then to Warri. From the Warri rail to the seaport. We are building a new seaport in Warri, the cabinet approved it last week, that is about $3.9bn,” he said.

He, however, said that about $45bn was needed to complete rail development in the country.

He said that once Lagos-Kano, Port Harcourt-Maiduguri, Lagos-Calabar and Abuja-Warri rail lines were constructed, the rail would have covered the country.

According to him, the government has not spent over $3bn so far on all the ongoing projects.

The Lagos-Ibadan will cost about $1.6bn, that doesn’t include the extra cost of things we didn’t prepare for or see in the evaluation; Abuja-Kaduna was constructed with about $1bn.

“We also paid $500m to buy locomotives and rolling stocks for Lagos-Ibadan; I can’t remember how much we spent buying rolling stocks for Kaduna-Abuja.”

With 865 deaths, 17 rapes and 144 scenes of naked people, Ghanaian Pastor explains why he thinks 'Christians who watch Game of Thrones will go to hell'

Ghanaian Pastor, Victor Eghan, has stated why he thinks Christians who watch Game of Thrones will go to Hell.

According to him, 'If you're so attached to Game of Thrones that you're getting angry with me, then who are you worshipping? GOD or GOT? One letter makes a big difference. And that one letter change can make a big difference when you stand before GOD on that day'.

Quote:Dear Game of Thrones fans (who say they're Christians), please forgive me in advance. I'm not a fan of GOT. Just watched a few episodes years ago. But I came across some statistics and facts that may interest you.
Interesting Stats:
865 deaths
17 rapes (including attempted ones)
144 scenes of naked people (with 83.7% being women)
Interesting Facts:
In 2016, HBO was in a legal battle with the porn website, PornHub, over the site's use of sexually explicit clips from GAME OF THRONES, which HBO states breaches their copyright of the content.
According to data from PornHub, the site saw a 4% drop in traffic (that is, a drop of about 2.4 million viewers) during Game of Thrones' season 6 premiere back in April. The site saw similar traffic dips over the next four weeks when new episodes aired, suggesting that people are, presumably, watching the show instead of porn.
There are a LOT of porn stars in Game Of Thrones. Jessica Jenson and Samantha Bentley, winner of the Adult Video News Award for Best Group Sex Scene, have both played prostitutes on the show. Australian amateur porn actress Aeryn Walker was also cast as one of Craster's many wives. While Sibel Kekilli, who has played Shae also starred in adult films in the past.
Dear Christian and Game of Thrones fan, is this the kind of content you want to fill your mind with? What happened to Philippians 4:8? Is this the kind of things you want your daughter or son to engage in? Rape, murder, and immorality?
If you're so attached to Game of Thrones that you're getting angry with me, then who are you worshipping? GOD or GOT? One letter makes a big difference. And that one letter change can make a big difference when you stand before GOD on that day.

Ex-convict, two others arrested for killing a pastor in Ibadan (Photo)

The Osun State Police Command has paraded an ex-convict, Adeoye Sina, for allegedly killing a pastor of a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ibadan, Oyo State, identified as Emmanuel Ogedengbe. Also paraded alongside Adeyeye were Bakare Fatai and Bolanle Soladoye.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige, while briefing journalists about the suspects said Adeoye, who had served two years’ jail term for being in possession of human wrists, connived with five others to kill Ogedengbe. The CP said the suspect claimed that the pastor was his client.

Ige explained that Ogedengbe and his friend, Sola Adebayo, came from Ibadan on Sunday, May 5 to meet Adeoye, a herbalist, in Oba Ile a town in the Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State. The CP said after eating a concoction prepared by the herbalist, Ogedengbe became weak and was later killed by some men working with Adeoye.

Explaining what happened on the day, Adebayo, who drove Ogedengbe from Ibadan to Osogbo, said upon their arrival in Osun State, Ogedengbe told him that the herbalist could also help him with ritual to boost his business. Adebayo said he declined the offer, adding that Ogedengbe later left with some men for an unknown place. He  later became suspicious when the clergy did not return several hours later.

Quote:He stated, “I called Pastor Ogedengbe several times, but he didn’t answer his calls. Adeoye advised me to carry the ritual prepared for me and follow him to where the pastor went to, but I said no. He put me on a motorcycle and asked someone to follow me there but I told them I was not interested.
“When I returned to Adeoye’s house, he was not happy and he ordered one of his workers to follow me to where I would eat the concoction. He collected my car key when we got to his house. I lied to him that I wanted to go and eat and he returned my car key. That was how I managed to escape but the man he told to watch over me told him when I escaped with my vehicle. Three motorcycles were on my trail to Osogbo. They gave me a hot chase but I managed to escape.”
Responding to questions from journalists, the prime suspect, Adeoye, who claimed to be a herbalist and farmer, denied asking his men to kill Ogedengbe. He said Ogedengbe had approached him for help because there were no longer worshippers in his church.
Quote:He said, “I have known Ogedengbe for about seven years. He came to me for help because his church was not doing well. He lost his balance after he ate the ritual I prepared for him and drank a bottle of gin in compliance with my directive. One of the boys I asked to follow him to the river where he would have a bath suddenly brought out a machete and severed his head. I didn’t ask them to kill him.”
One of the suspects, Bakare Fatai, who was with Ogedengbe when he was killed, said when the pastor became unconscious after taking the ritual, Adeoye instructed him and Ahmed Omonla, who is at large, to kill the pastor.  “I was looking for money to pay my thrift when Adeyeye called me to accompany the pastor to where he would eat the ritual. After the pastor finished eating the ritual, he drank the gin and became weak.  Adeoye called us that we should kill him. It was Ahmed Omonla that killed him with a machete,” Bakare said.

Lagos State House of Assembly refuse to transfer 2019 budget to Governor Ambode

Two weeks after the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the 2019 budget, Governor Ambode is yet to receive it.

According to a report by Punch, the Assembly might be awaiting May 29 when the governor-elect,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, would be sworn into office. A source revealed that government projects had been stalled due to the impasse.

Quote:He said, “They just refused to pass it to the governor because they want to play politics with the budget. Most of the people in the Assembly are loyal to one man and he appears to be dictating to them. But what more do they want to do to Ambode? They have humiliated him, denied him his return ticket, and even threatened to impeach him. What has he done to deserve all that?
“What they failed to realise is that this is beyond Ambode. It is about Lagos State. It is about governance. Since they took this decision not to pass the budget to him, things have been at a standstill. No development; nothing. This is wrong at all levels because people’s lives are being held.”
However, another government source said while the Assembly might have certain reasons for not passing the bill to the governor, the law permits Ambode to spend a certain percentage of the previous year budget.
Quote:She said, “It is true that the budget has not been transmitted to the governor. But their reason is immaterial. Whatever they like they can do. The law allows the governor to spend a certain amount of last year’s budget pending the time the new budget would be ready. The governor will do his best within the time available.”
The Ambode administration had said it sent the budget to the Assembly early, but the lawmakers went on a break and could not sit over it in December 2018.  Early 2019, the Assembly had issued an impeachment threat to the governor for allegedly spending from the budget when it had not been passed. After protests and public demonstrations, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, and some party stalwarts called the lawmakers and the governor into a meeting, where the matter was reportedly resolved.  On April 29, the Assembly passed the N873.532bn budget, more than 80 days after the governor eventually presented it.

Four-year-old boy crushed to death inside his parents’ compound by a car that lost control in Lagos

A a four-year-old boy, Segun Egunbambi, has died after he was knocked down by a car inside his parents’ compound on Aduragbemi Street, Alagbado area of Lagos State.

The Toyota Camry car, with the number plate, KTU 242 FC, was driven by one Adenowo Adeyiga who was said to be returning home from Ijegun when his car had a brake failure and lost control.

The car reportedly veered into Egunbambis’ compound located along the street and knocked down the boy, who was playing on the premises. It was gathered that Egunbambi sustained leg injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in the neighbourhood for treatment. He died from the injuries some hours later.

The incident was reported at the Alagbado Police Station and Adeyiga was arrested. The police accused Adeyiga of reckless driving, adding that he did not have a driving licence. The suspect stated that he had applied the brakes as he wanted to make a turn at a junction around the scene of the incident but to his surprise, the brakes did not respond.

The 49-year-old man stated that he rammed into the compound in confusion saying;

Quote:“On May 4, 2019, around 12noon, I was returning home from Ijegun in my car. I wanted to turn at a junction, two streets to my house when I discovered that my car brakes had failed. Immediately the accident happened, I rushed the boy to Holyfield Hospital at Ile Epo (a neighbouring community). He was referred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi and I went to the police station to make a report.”

He, however, refuted the allegation that he drove the car without a driving licence. Adeyiga was consequently brought before an Ikeja magistrates’ court sitting in Ogba by a police prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, on three counts bordering on reckless driving and manslaughter.
Quote:The charges read in part, “That you, Adenowo Adeyiga, on May 4, 2019, at around 12pm, along Aduragbemi Street, Casso Alagbado, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, being the driver in charge of a Toyota Camry, with the number plate, KTU 242 FC, drove same on the public road in a dangerous and reckless manner and caused the death of one Segun Egunbambi, aged four, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 20(1), Cap 172, Vol 45, Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2012.
“That you, Adenowo Adeyiga, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, being the driver of the above mentioned vehicle, drove same on public road without a driving licence, which is against traffic rules and regulation, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 7(1) and punishable under Section 45, Cap 172, Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him by the court registrar. He was granted bail by the presiding magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in the like sum. The case was adjourned till June 20, 2019.

Reps Panel ‘uncovers’ $995m FG Funds Outside TSA
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-11-2019, 12:25 PM - No Replies

Quote:A house of representatives panel says it has uncovered public funds outside the treasury single account (TSA) to the tune of $995.71 million.

The ad hoc committee on the need to ascertain the proceeds of the treasury single account made the submission in its report considered and adopted by the house on Thursday.

According to the committee chaired by Danduram Abubakar, federal government funds to the tune of “billions of naira and hundreds of millions of dollars” were operated outside the TSA by the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in collaboration with banks.

The report obtained by PUNCH read: “After the meeting with Deposit Money Banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on August 15, 2017, the committee discovered that over $900m is still being held outside the TSA.

“While some banks fully complied with the directive of the ad hoc committee by remitting these funds into the TSA, it is worthy of note that the sum of about $995.71m was still held outside the TSA by some other banks. This sum of $995.71m includes the principal deposit and the accrued interest on the deposit. Also discovered was an amount of N1.207bn and €23,704.01.”

The committee also accused the NNPC of extra-budgetary spending. It said while (its) Brass LNG “received an appropriation of $511.60m, the actual release was $461.54m during 2012-2017 fiscal years.”

The lawmakers specifically indicted the corporation and an agency of the federal ministry of environment of violating the TSA policy.

They said the balance in the CBN joint venture account as reported by the NNPC, dated October 30, 2017, stood at $188,900,383.49, adding: “These are the various accounts classified as accounts still not being moved to TSA by CBN, DMBs account.”

The report further read: “The committee discovered three accounts held by the NNPC in Aso Savings and Loans PLC and Unity Bank PLC. The accounts include two placement accounts called NNPC PFL Placement Deposit and the third account called NNPC Pension Fund account. The total balance in these accounts as of August 27, 2017, stood at N1, 079,444,746.49.

“The committee also made another startling discovery of a fund held in another DMB by the Federal Ministry of Environment; Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Programme called FME HYPREP Account. The balance in this account as of September, 2018, stood at N1.1bn and $4.9m domiciled in Stanbic IBTC Bank.”

The committee said some of the MDAs operating accounts outside the TSA claimed to have obtained a presidential exemption over their actions.

“In the case of NNPC, the committee insisted to sight the purported exemption letter. However, to the dismay of committee, the letter was only conveying the approval of the President signed by an assistant director,” it said.

"Sanusi Persecuted Me As He Thought I Wanted His Job At CBN" – Cecilia Ibru
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-11-2019, 11:48 AM - No Replies

Cecilia Ibru, the former Managing Director of the defunct Oceanic Bank has for the first opened up on her ordeal in court and she disclosed that the Emir of Kano and former Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi persecuted her badly because he thought she wanted his job at the CBN.

The economic guru who disclosed that she got married before 20 and also had her son in January before her 20th birthday, revealed that her travails in court got her really depressed. Recounting her ordeal, Cecilia Ibru who stated that Sanusi persecuted her because he thought she wanted his job at the CBN said;

I won’t say betrayal, including (Lamido) Sanusi (the then Governor of the Central Bank) himself, but people that I thought would come and help me did not do so. However, God raised other people to help me. Back then when I was in office, if I was at home, you wouldn’t find a parking space in my compound; it was always filled with cars and people who wanted one favour or the other from the bank. But after that episode, everywhere became empty.

One day, a man came to visit me at home and when he was going, there were no security personnel or driver. So, he asked what happened to them and I said the bank had withdrawn all of them on the order of Sanusi. They withdrew everything. He said that wasn’t good. The man asked me what it would cost me to put in place some security measures and I said about N1m. He said I was a popular personality and I couldn’t go around without some form of protection. He paid that N1m every month until I went to London. And when I got there, I informed him I had travelled. I can’t forget that kind of a person, and guess what, he is a Muslim.

65 people die as migrant boat capsizes off Tunisia

At least 65 migrants have died after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean off the coast of Tunisia.

According to the UN refugee agency, sixteen people were rescued. Survivors say the boat left Zuwara in Libya on Thursday and ran into trouble during strong waves.

So far, about 164 people have died on the route between Libya and Europe in the first four months of 2019, UNHCR figures show.

The incident is thought to be one of the deadliest shipwrecks involving migrants since the start of the year. The survivors were brought to the coast by the Tunisian Navy and are awaiting permission to disembark. One person has been transferred to hospital for medical treatment, the UNHCR says.

The navy dispatched a ship as soon as it heard about the incident and came across a fishing boat picking up survivors, a statement from the Tunisian defence ministry said. The passengers are understood to have been from sub-Saharan Africa.  "This is a tragic and terrible reminder of the risks still faced by those who attempt to cross the Mediterranean," the UNHCR's Vincent Cochetel said in a statement.

The wife of Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh, has been shot dead. According to multiple reports, Bettie Jennifer was killed by an unknwon gunman while leaving her office in Maryland in the United States of America on Friday evening May 10th at about 5pm.

Accoridng to reports, Bettie had left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her. When she tried to run away, the man followed her and fired at her multiple times, with at least one shot hitting her.

The gunman then fled in a vehicle and has since been declared wanted by the Maryland Police.

Police described the suspect as “a black male with a think build and black hair, wearing a dark shirt and pants.”

Chris Attoh and Bettie Jenifer married at a ceremony in Accra October 2018. This was shortly after divorcing his first wife, Nollywood actress, DamiloIa Adegbite, who he shares a son with.

Just last week, Chris Attoh sparked speculation on social media that their marriage was in crisis after he deleted all her photos on his Instagram page.

Female lecturer recounts how she was abducted and raped by three young men in Rivers state(photo)

A female senior lecturer (name withheld) in one of the tertiary institutions in Rivers State, has given graphic details of how she was abducted by three kidnappers, raped by one of them, in the forest of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers on April 30th and how she miraculously escaped from the kidnappers’ den.

The female lecturer who is married, told her horrific story at the 6 Division of Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt where her abductors were paraded before newsmen. The victim, who was accompanied by her husband and a female relative, said;

Quote:“I was in my house in Port Harcourt on April 30, 2019. I was alone with my children and my husband’s cousin. They were sleeping in the room. I was washing with machine at the balcony. Since it was around 8 p.m., there was a programme I always watched on Zee World.
“As I was washing my clothes, I was watching the programme. The main gate was locked, but the protector was open, since I had to go downstairs to get water.
“I was in the living room, when I noticed that the protector opened slightly. I was wondering, because if my husband returned from work, he would horn and I would have to go and open the main gate for him. I was wondering who was there. The other person who was supposed to come back from work was sleeping. The next thing I saw was the key to the main door opened.
Then I saw two guys first, pointing a gun at me. One of them cocked the gun and he asked after my husband but I said he had not closed from work. He then angrily asked why he had not closed from work at that time. I told him I wouldn’t know. He asked me to cooperate otherwise they would finish me, saying they were not playing with me. He asked of my ATM card and PIN. I gave him. He asked if I had money in the house I said no but I had gold, which could be sold for N50, 000 but they rejected it.
“One person took our television, another took the laptop. I was tying a wrapper with spaghetti top since I was in my house. They then asked me to follow them. One of them asked me to get a dress but they did not let me leave the living room. The dress I wore to school that day was on my room’s door. They brought it for me and I wore it.
“They asked of my car’s key, I brought it out and I gave it to them. That was how they put me in my vehicle and as they were about to drive out, they found it difficult because of the space we share with our neighbour and they were hitting my neighbour’s fence. My neighbour came out and I said I was in trouble. Maybe he did not see me. The kidnappers put my head under the car’s seat and they drove off. I did not know the direction they followed. We then got to a place that was not motorable. So, we had to come down. That was how we started the journey inside the bush. I asked them what I did but they did not respond.
“That day, they paid me salary. I told them to let me give them the salary that was transferred to me. One of them then gave me an account number, which I forwarded my salary N59, 000 to. As we were still going inside the bush, he called someone to confirm if the person had received the alert. We later saw river that got to my knees. The leader pulled his trousers but I had to carry my dress up. That night, we spent about two hours in the bush, just moving around and I was barefooted because they did not allow me to wear slippers, thereby giving me injuries. They later blindfolded me and we got to a place where they said that was where we would stay that night. I slept on bare ground in the open forest.
“The next morning, out of the two of them that followed me inside the bush, one of them left, remaining one who told me that if I did not cooperate with him, to allow him to sleep with me four other persons would come in the afternoon and they would have me. But if I allowed him to sleep with me, he would let me go. I told him I would not be able to do it. When I was still sitting on the floor, he masked himself with his dress and he raped me. Later in the afternoon, I stood there and I cried. If I shouted, I would not have received help. It was indeed a bush although I could hear the sound of passing vehicles.”
When it rained heavily, we were all under the rain. I was completely wet. They removed their clothes and had only their boxer shorts. After the rain, they cleaned themselves and wore their clothes. That was the only dress I had and I could not go naked. I was so cold. Later in the day, another one came and he asked me if I would eat but I said I was not hungry. He said I should eat in order not to die in the forest. He said if I died, they would still collect the ransom. They later brought packed food: fried rice with two fried meat and sachet water with orange juice for me but I could not eat because I did not have appetite. I just managed to take the sachet water and the two pieces of meat.
“The elderly one that came seemed nicer. He said they would never rape their victims but I told him the other one had already raped me. He was surprised and went back to ask him. He confirmed raping me. He said in their culture, it was forbidden and that before they would let me go, they would do something. I told them I am a Christian and I would not be part of it. I said I had forgiven him and left him to God. He said when they got to our house and if they had seen N500, 000, they would not have carried me. He said teachers’ money (ransom) was N5 million, but if my husband could raise N3 million, they would let me go. Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, they asked of what I would eat but I said I was not hungry but I asked them to call my people.
“They then called my husband, but he was calm and he said he had no money again since they had collected the over N100, 000 he had with the ATM card. That was when I knew that they had collected the money. I begged them to let me go but they asked me to shut up, claiming that I was talking too much. When they noticed that I was very cold, they said they would take me to where I could warm myself. We then went further into the bush.
“In the place, it was like a shed with fire place. We slept on three benches overnight. Early the next morning, we left the place. As we were about changing location, one of them said he was not comfortable with where he was going and to go back to where we were. We then went back to where we were on Wednesday. While we were there, I had strength and I knew that members of my church were praying for me. I knew that my God would not let me down.
“I told God that after all my suffering, the kidnappers would not take the requested N3 million from my husband. They said my husband promised to call them before 12 noon on that day to drop the ransom. So, they were happy. One went to sleep, while the other took his phone and went away. I waited for a while, the one that went to make call was not coming. I did as if I wanted to urinate, the one that was sleeping did not ask me to come back. I saw it as an opportunity to escape. That was how I ran away. God helped me in the bush and I was following the sun but I was seriously injured and bleeding. I later came out of the bush and I saw a road. I did not know where I was. I was stopping vehicles but the dress I wore was so dirty. So, no vehicle was stopping for me. I then saw two guys in a vehicle, they helped me''.

Justice Fatun Riman of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, today May 10th, convicted and sentenced Daniel Iluobe, Ifeanyi Chukwudi Paul and Godwin Joseph Ovboke to two years imprisonment each, for internet fraud.

Iluobe, while posing as a Chinese, Huang Guang, fraudulently sent electronic messages to a Chinese woman promising her marriage. He further demanded the sum of $200 which his victim sent to him via Western Union.

The EFC in a statement released, said Ovboke falsely portrayed himself as Lancelot Degory, a United States citizen, and succeeded in defrauding one Cheow Lim of $1,400, after he lied to her that he was going to meet her in Singapore where they were supposed to get married.

Paul on the other hand claimed he was a Construction Engineer based in Syria, and under that guise, he succeeded in defrauding one Simone Cardoso of £600 (Six Hundred Pounds) with a false promise of marriage.

The convicts were arraigned on separate charges and all three pleaded “guilty” to the one-count charge preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Before they were convicted and sentenced for their various offences, the prosecuting counsel, N.K. Ukoha prayed the court to allow his witness take the stand and review the facts of the cases.

The prosecution witness, Joseph Simon Akor, an EFCC operative, narrated how the convicts were arrested at different locations and on different dates, following intelligence gathered during surveillance.
He told the court that Paul was arrested on May 5, 2019 at his apartment on Charles Effiong Close, Satellite Town, Calabar, while Ovboke and Iluobe were arrested at Itagbor Agbeansa area of Calabar.

Quote:“During investigations, forensic analysis carried out on their laptops showed that they were into internet fraud as we saw all the electronic messages they used to dupe their victims,” he said.

After leading the witness in evidence, Ukoha then urged the court to convict and sentence them, accordingly.

While delivering judgement, Justice Riman sentenced Iluobe to two years in prison with an option of fine of N50,000, and ordered that the convict must restitute the entire sum of $200 (Two Hundred Dollars) to his victim.
Ovboke was sentenced to two years in prison with an option of fine of N100,000 and ordered to refund the sum of $1,400 to the victim as restitution.

Paul was also sentenced to two years in prison with an option of fine of N100,000. He was also ordered by the court to pay back £600 (Six Hundred Pounds) to the victim he defrauded.

The court also ordered that all three convicts forfeit every item recovered from them at the point of arrest to the Federal Government.
They are currently in prison where they'll remain till they fulfil the conditions given them by the court or serve out their prison terms.

Ganduje Bastardised Sanusi’s Throne To Quash Independent Voice - Moghalu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Kingsley Moghalu who reacted to the ongoing controversy sparked by the splitting of Kano emirate, stated that Governor Ganduje bastardised Sanusi’s throne to quash independent voice. The 2019 Presidential candidate who spoke at the Sikiru Kayode Adetona third annual professorial chair lecture, held on Friday at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, said traditional rulers ought to be selected by the citizens and not the governors.

“We have seen something happened recently in Kano state, that is the emir of Kano’s throne has been balkanised and bastardised. We know why; it is to quash an independent voice, so this raises the question of the roles of traditional rulers,” Moghalu said. The government should no longer appoint traditional rulers. Let the traditional rulers be selected by their community and recognised by the government. In a restructured Nigeria, with a new constitution, traditional rulers should have a formal role, that is, advisory roles. This is what we should do. We cannot make traditional rulers errand boys for politicians and when they refuse to play that role we begin to play around with them.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 11TH MAY.

MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).

The recreated human spirit produces endless joy. Thus, it’s easy for every and any Christian to be happy, by simply choosing to be. Someone who’s not happy about himself can’t make anyone else happy.

It’s one of the ways you know people who are frustrated; they tend to pass it on. Don’t live that way. You have a responsibility, and a serious one at that, to make yourself happy, especially if you’re a leader at any capacity. God expects that you’ll give those under you godly examples. So, exude joy. Be happy. Under such an atmosphere of joy and gladness, a lot more can be accomplished.

The Spirit of God does more for and with us in an atmosphere of joy and happiness. The reverse is also true: Satan has a field day in the lives and environment of people who are moody and sad. Demons attach themselves to people to make them restless, confused, sad and depressed. This is why you must never give in to sadness or depression. Instead, allow the joy of the Lord well up in your heart. It’s something you do consciously.

When the squeeze is on, and things don’t seem to be working out as expected, laugh. Stir up joy from within. That’s the joy that lasts. When you stir up joy from your spirit like that, before long, irrespective of the daunting challenges, you’d find that there’s an unusual calmness in your spirit. The peace of God that surpasses all understanding will garrison your heart and mind in the Lord (Philippians 4:7).

You can be full of joy twenty-four hours a day, and you should. It’s God’s will for your life. In John 15:11, Jesus said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”He’s given you joy that isn’t dependent on the happenings around you; joy that flows from your spirit and rubs off on everything else around you. Activate that joy today, through the Word and the Holy Spirit.

When things get tough, instead of wondering what to do and what the problem is, declare, “I refuse to be confused, depressed, or restless! I have the victory, because the greater One lives in me! His joy is my strength and I prevail gloriously in His Name.” Hallelujah! Remember, “...with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3).

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me such a beautiful, extraordinary, exciting, fulfilling, exceptional and excellent life; a glorious life that radiates joy, excellence and peace. Irrespective of contrary circumstances, your beauty, glory, grace and righteousness are seen and manifested in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Psalm 126:2-3 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. 3 The LORD hath done great things for us; [whereof] we are glad.

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for [this] day [is] holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

#TALKINGSESSION

11TH MAY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I rejoice today , knowing that the sacrifice of Jesus for my sin was the ultimate price by which I now stand justified in Your presence. Thank You for presenting me holy and unblameable before You in love, having washed away my sins and cleansed me from all unrighteousness.

I rejoice exceedingly today knowing that You’ve given me “the blessing,” and endowed with all I need for life and godliness through Christ Jesus. Thank You for Your immeasurable gift of grace, and for commanding Your blessing upon me forever, causing everything I lay my hands upon to succeed and flourish, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Dangote Refinery: The Making Of Africa's Biggest Private Refinery - Photos
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 05-10-2019, 09:27 PM - No Replies

The Dangote Refinery seems to be one if not the largest project going on the Africa continent currently. It's a project that has gulped lots of billions of dollars, break some technological protocol, it has involved a lot of technical and advanced engineering. People on this site work day in, day out to make sure the refinery receives the best and meet up with the timeline.

For example, the 2760 ton RFCC regenerator, is the largest of its kind in the world which was made in South Korea. According to Dangote, he has to build its own port in order to accommodate all these mega machineries as no Nigerian port can accommodate any of these items.

The CEO/Founder Mr. Aliko Dangote while speaking with Mo Ibrahim recently, when he was asked to comment about the refinery, he said, " it can be considered the largest project in the world when considering all various construction around the area". One hard fact is when he says the refinery section of the project has 136,000 piles, more than anywhere else in the world.

When the refinery is finished, it is expected that it will produce 650,000 barrels of crude daily. According to Aliko Dangote, the refinery has gulped $130billion so far.

The site was about 2 million square meters in size was bought for the sole aim of the refinery from both the Federal and State Government.

[Image: Dangote_Refinery_Update_004_AutoReportNG.com.jpg]

According to the images we have seen so far, work at this site is nothing but a mega one. Lots of work are on-going simultaneously which leaves no room for negligence from the workers in any way. The pile foundation, civil construction, grid flow production tasks, and the grid installation work are ongoing.

At the completion of this project, it's said to create thousands of job opportunities for the youths and for those in the oil sector thereby saving the nation a huge amount of money from foreign refineries.

AutoReportNG got some images from the companies handling the project, we felt its important to report back to you on how they fare.

Sanusi Is supposed to Report to the local government chairman not the governor'' Governor Ganduje says

The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that the Emir of Kano, HRH Sanusi II, has no business reporting to him but rather, he is meant to report to the local government chairman in his domain.

Ganduje said this to state house correspondents at the presidential villa after attending the Progressive Governors Forum award ceremony. Ganduje's comment comes two days after signing into law a bill that reduced the powers of the Emir of Kano who was until now the only first class ruler in Kano.

Quote:“We are taking Kano to the next level and we need the active participation of the traditional system, especially in the areas of education, security, agriculture. By decentralising the emirate, we followed history. Years back, the situation was not that. So if something developed 800 years ago, things are also developing now and there will be another 800 years. So look at the history.

“So, it is not vendetta, I am not against him (Sanusi). In fact, he is supposed to be reporting to the local government chairman according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is the local government chairman that is supposed to discuss issues with him, not the governor" he said

Chilling story of how three UNIABUJA fresh students watched their friend drown because ''his father is rich and he was the toast of many girls''

Facebook user, Mystic Biu, has shared the shocking story of how three University of Abuja freshmen watched their friend, 17-year-old Emmanuel Aigbokhalode Balogun drown at the Dome Hotel pool because he was always doing ''shakara'' and all the girls in their school were flocking around him alone.

Read the chilling story below

Quote:TRUE LIFE STORY
We live in a very trying and perilous times. A very dear friends undergraduate's 17yr old son got drowned at the Dome hotel pool in abuja last weekend. He was in the company of his friends. The friends didn't report to the hotel mgt what happened nor to the deceased's (Emmanuel Balogun) parents. They went back to the school (Uni Abuja) hostel immediately after the incident.

On Monday a young girl from uni abuja called the mother of the deceased that they did not see Emmanuel her son in class. She went further to tell the parents it's like something has happened to Emma and ended the call. The mother called back the line but it was switched off. She notified her husband & they immediately placed a call to their sons number and it was off. They drove that Monday night to their sons hostel but met his absence. They now got information that a party was thrown for fresh year students over the weekend at the Dome hotel in town. They set forth for the hotel. The hotel mgt told them there was a case of drowning in their hotel over the when'd & directed them to the police.

The police now led them to the mortuary, lo & behold it was their son. Yesterday morning, myself & the deceased uncle went to the police to see the CCTV footage of what transpired @ the hotel. What I saw and later heard yesterday was unbelievable. From the CCTV, we noticed the deceased entered the pool with 3 of his friends and around 3.33am he started struggling in the pool.
His friends where all watching him until he stopped struggling and drowned. They all left the pool immediately and one took his handset the other took his trouser and brought out the money inside the pocket and wore his shoes. They left the hotel around 4.18am according to the footage we saw. The police went to the school & effected the arrest of the trio and mgt of the hotel.

At the DIG's office yesterday afternoon, I heard something that has being giving me cold shivers all through yesterday and right now. One of the boys said that he wanted to raise an alarm to save the boy but the other two boys asked him not to. That the deceased is always doing shakara because his father his rich, he went further to say that the other one said all the girls are always admiring the deceased so he should let him be joor. This are just mere 17/18yr old boys ??‍?.

Watching the CCTV footage where the friends were watching him drown and collectively decided, cos there was a time they grouped together to discuss for about a minute & from the confession of one of them is not only traumatic for me but also disheartening. They watched their "Friend" die out of jealousy & envy ?. According to them, it was the deceased that paid 2k each gate fee for them and also bought fish and juice which they all drank. This are mere teenagers with that kind of heart.

My people, be extra careful for people you call your friends. According to the DIG, A lot of people are being murdered daily cos of envy from friends. No doubt, There are good and wonderful friends but also, know ye, there are also friend-enemy everywhere. So be extra careful and prayerful cos the love of many has really waxed cold. ??. The young man was buried today amid tears ? according to the wishes of his parents but his wicked friends & hotel mgt are still in police custody at the force headquarters as we speak. May none of us bury any of our children or young ones in Jesus name. Amen.

Beware of jealous & Envious friends they are more lethal and toxic than acid. ????????????. Below ??is the picture of the young man whose death would have being avoided. ??

Kenyan court sends British man to four years in prison for possessing bomb-making material

A Kenyan court has sentenced a British man to four years in prison for possessing bomb-making material.

Jermaine Grant was arrested in 2011, when police allegedly found chemicals, switches and a bomb-making manual at his home in the city of Mombasa  Grant, who is from London, is serving nine years in jail for using forged documents to obtain Kenyan citizenship.

The four years will be added to his current sentence. He has denied the charge and is appealing. After Grant's arrest, Kenyan police accused him of being involved in a plot targeting hotels visited by foreign tourists.

Last month he was convicted of possession of bomb-making materials, but the court acquitted him of conspiracy over the alleged plot.

Samantha Lewthwaite a British woman known as the "White Widow" and wanted in connection with the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005 is believed to have been staying at the house in which the bomb-making equipment was found. She has not been seen since 2011.

Court of Appeal rules Onnoghen’s suspension by CCT breached his right to fair hearing

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has struck out an appeal by the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, challenging an ex parte order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal issued on January 23, 2019, for his suspension from office pending his trial before the tribunal.

President Buhari had on January 24th, suspended Onnoghen on the strength of the ex-parte order issued by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

In a unanimous judgment delivered today Friday May 10th by the three-man bench led by Justice Stephen Adah, the Court of Appeal, however, ruled that the CCT’s ex parte order breached the ex-CJN’s right to fair hearing.

Justice Adah, who read the lead judgment, noted that the court proceedings ought not to be conducted “in a shady or clandestine maneuver” as manner in which the ex parte order was obtained by the prosecution.

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on April 18th, convicted the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen and banned him from holding any public office for 10 years.

Conflicting Police, DSS Reports On Agom Adara's Killers In Kaduna
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-10-2019, 03:06 PM - No Replies

It is almost seven months that criminals killed the traditional ruler of Agom Adara chiefdom in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State, Dr. Maiwada Galadima, in very painfully controversial circumstances.

Galadima was kidnapped on October 18, 2018 and was killed a week later by his abductors after collecting a N10million ransom. The gunmen also killed his police orderly on the spot and took away the monarch’s wife and his driver, who were later freed.

Also killed during the tragic incident were three palace guards who were on the late first-class monarch’s entourage when his convoy was intercepted by the kidnappers.

Since then, controversy has continued to trail Dr. Galadima’s murder as his subjects maintain that the narratives about his demise were far from the stories being told by the security agencies and officials of the state government.

Till date, most people in his domain believe that the eminent monarch was killed because of his opposition to the creation of Kajuru Emirate Council which subsumed his office. They argued that the fact that he was abducted and later murdered while returning to his palace after he accompanied the state governor to Kasuwan Magani to commiserate with families of victims of a violent clash makes the incident more curious than the manner it had been presented.

The situation is further compounded by security agencies’ conflicting reports on the actual killers of the traditional ruler.

It will be recalled that on November 7, 2018, the Kaduna State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) paraded six suspects over the killing of Galadima. Among the suspects was a notorious kidnapper, Musa Mohammed, who had allegedly been terrorising people in the state.

The DSS director, Mahmud Ningi, who paraded the suspects, said that 20 of them were involved in the kidnap and murder of the paramount ruler. He, however, said that six of them were arrested while the others were at large.

The DSS gave the names of the suspects as Adamu Sani, Adamu Saidu, Adamu Isya, Yusuf Bello, Dahiru Muhammad Bello, and Mohammed Aminu. This came 20 days after the brutal and gruesome killing of the monarch.

Six months after the dust raised over the monarch’s death was yet to settle, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) came up with another version of the killer of Galadima, saying they had arrested the prime suspect and 17 others for similar offences.

This was announced on April 29, 2019 by Force public relations officer, Mr. Frank Mba, who named the monarch’s killer as Abubakar Ibrahim alias Dan Habu, a 37-year-old native of Kabam in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.

We commend both the DSS and the police for the arrest of the suspects in connection with the murder of the monarch even as we express worry over the conflicting reports of the two security agencies on the matter.

This newspaper considers it curious that their reports are not tardy. In fact, the identities of the six suspects arrested by the DSS do not fit into that of the one held by the police. In names, ages, and nativity of the suspects, there is no connection or any link.

We, therefore, ask: Who is the real killer of Agom Adara Galadima? Which report is correct? That of DSS or the police?

In our considered opinion the discrepancy in the two reports have again brought to the fore the total lack of synergy among the security agencies in the country. This absence of coordination and needless rivalry has not only continued to expose them to public ridicule but has further dampened the people’s trust and confidence in the ability of the security agencies to do the right thing when occasion demands.

It is shocking that the police authorities were not even aware of the earlier report of the DSS on the matter. We strongly suggest that the right thing for the police authorities to have done when the DSS came out with their report would have been to arrange a behind-the-scene joint interrogation and possible prosecution of the suspects thereby saving themselves and the nation from this embarrassment.

The prevailing regime of trying to claim credit for anything done possibly right by the security agencies should be discontinued. What Nigerians are interested in is not who did what. They are interested in the safety of their life and property in any part of the country, which is the primary responsibility of all the security agencies.

We are also disturbed that six months after the DSS paraded the six suspects, none of them has been arraigned before a competent court for prosecution. We, therefore demand that if the secret police have established any case of the murder of the king against them, their prosecution should start without further delay. The same goes for the police. Otherwise, they should be freed because their rights are being violated by their endless detention.

The killing of the Adara Agom should not add to the nation’s long list of unresolved murder of prominent citizens. The time to act is now and the police and the DSS must rise to the challenge.
