South African woman inconsolable after ex-boyfriend hangs her three children, himself, because she didn't want to be with him anymore

“Molefe has robbed me of my only reason for living. He has torn my heart apart!.”
These were the words of an inconsolable Soshanguve mother whose three children were allegedly killed by a “bitter” ex-boyfriend.

Lucia poured her heart out to a cousin named Portia, in the presence of the Pretoria News, on Wednesday afternoon.

The cousin had gone to her home to comfort the 27-year-old mother, Grief remained etched on the faces of family members and friends who had flocked to the home to give their condolences.

Thabang (11), Amogelang (3) and Lebogang (2) were hanged by Molefe Mojutu before he killed himself, also by hanging in his Soshanguve Block W home on Tuesday.

The older two children were from a previous relationship and the youngest was the killer's child.

Ndala could hardly string a sentence together when she recalled going to the house and finding her children hanged inside a small room. From what the mother understands, the children were fed rat poison before being hanged.

“When I got to that house I saw a horror movie. I touched my first born’s face and told him to wake. That guy has torn my heart apart. He made sure he’d leave me with questions no one in this world could ever answer. He is cruel and I wish he could have just killed me instead and left my innocent children out of this. I’m just wondering what was going through his mind when he hanged the first one, and then the second one and went on to the third. How did he feel when they were screaming for help? This guy has left me with so many questions and only he can answer them,” the emotional mother said.

Ndala said her ex-boyfriend often threatened to kill her and the children but she thought it was just talk until Tuesday.
"Before he killed them, I called him to ask where he had taken the children to and he told me he wanted to buy them pizza. He asked me what I would do if he killed the children and I said: “I know you would not do that,” he then gave my first and second born the phone to tell me that they love me,” she said.

Ndala said her ex-boyfriend used to transport the three children to school. She said he had tried on three separate occasions to commit suicide because she no longer wanted to be with him. She suspects he killed the children because she did not want to be with him anymore.

Police swiftly responded to the scene where the four were certified dead.
Police confirmed three murder cases and an inquest docket had been opened.

Nigerian journalist, Sam Anokam mourns the death of his friend, Seun Adedutan who committed suicide by drinking two bottles of 'Sniper'

Popular Nigerian journalist, Sam Anokam has taken to Facebook to mourn the death of his friend, Seun Adedutan, a father of two who committed suicide by drinking two bottles of Sniper.

According to Sam, 'this is a sad one for me.The picture here is that of my dear friend and classmate in secondary school, Seun Adedutan. As preparations were on-going yesterday for change to another administration at all levels of government for today, Seun my friend was preparing to meet his maker.'

Quote:He ended his life yesterday afternoon after emptying two containers of the dreaded SNIPER! His cold body is in the mortuary. He left behind a wonderful wife and his two dotting kids.
Depression is real! What we are still trying to unravel is that Seun who we call pastor does not drink, womanize or lust after money; what could have happened? As a strong Christian who others run to for counseling, what could have happened? Life belongs to God.
As one of his brother’s said, despite the economic hardship, people are no longer encouraging one another. Government is aloof to the plight of the people. Who do we turn to? Our churches are now business centres. They no longer preach hope but vanity. They should stop all these crappy teaching of pretending to be rich when you are poor; you are sick, they will tell you to pretend to be strong, all is well bullshit, etc.
If a strong Christian like Seun can end his life by himself, wherein lies the hope of norminal believers? I wrote on this wall last week, that something should be done about this SNIPER, people said the issue is not about SNIPER but ourselves. We have been using ‘otapiapa’ and other rat and insect poison before now, the rate of suicide was not this bad but it seems this SNIPER of a thing has an ‘evil spirit’(for church goers) behind it that is pushing people to drink it.
My friend Seun has never been the outspoken type. He must have bottled up a lot of things that triggered whatever it is that made him decide to end it all.

Other prominent Nigerians were also aboard the flight.

Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian president and other Nigerians escaped death on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport when an Ethiopian Airlines plane almost crashed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other prominent Nigerians in the Ethiopian airline passenger aircraft, Boeing 777-300, included the Director General of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni.

Also in the plane was Prof Samson Tunde Adebayo, the Director of Ports Inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) as well as scores of Nigerians and other nationals.

The passenger aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, at about 9:10 a.m., Ethiopian time; 7 a.m Nigerian time.

A NAN correspondent, who was among the passengers, recalled that the almost 5-hour flight from the Ethiopian capital to Lagos had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the Murtala Mohammed International airport.

Rather than landing on the first touchline of the runway, the pilot over short it, due to rain and heavy wind, landing on the third touchline.

NAN reports that, on realising this, the pilot quickly manouvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport.

After hovering around between Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun, causing panic in passengers and crew members, the plane landed in Lagos airport, some 20 minutes after the initial false landing.

The atmosphere in the airbus upon landing was replica of what is obtainable in some Nigerian worship centers, as many passengers broke out into worship songs and clapping, while some fell to their knees in prayer.

The duty manager and Chief Customer Service (Nigeria) of the airline, Mr Otori Jimoh Otan, told NAN that if the pilot had continued taxing down after landing on the third touchline, he would have overshot the runway.

“But this is an experienced pilot. He realised this immediately.

“Fortunately, the distance between when he realised the situation still permitted him to take off and renegotiate landing,” Otori said.

Obasanjo and Olukanni had both attended a Stakeholders Dialogue on Continental Trade and Strengthening Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) which ended on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

Peter Obi Advises Ihedioha: Don't Waste Imo Money, Ignore Chartered Jets
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2019, 01:35 PM - No Replies

From former Governor of Anambra state and the PDP Vice Presidential candidate in the 2019 General elections, His Excellency Peter Obi, came a warning to new Imo state Governor, His Excellency Emeka Ihedioha.

Speaking at a very high profile lecture on May 28 to mark the inauguration of Ihedioha as the governor, Obi, who was the Guest of Honour warned Ihedioha off three things.

The first thing, Obi told Ihedioha, is not to imbibe the habit of flying in chartered jets. 99 per cent of Nigerian Governors feel it is beneath them to fly on commercial planes.

This costs them millions of Naira. The governors blame it on exigencies of duties. But Obi told Ihedioha to perish the thought, and get on a commercial flight to save money with which to work for Imo people.

Obi: "Don't waste money. Ignore chartered jets. Why pay millions of Naira when you can pay only N40,000 and get to the same destination?"

The second is the office of the First Lady. It costs money.....

Goodluck Jonathan's Democracy Message To Nigerians
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2019, 01:34 PM - No Replies

The Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan took to his Twitter to celebrate with Nigerians on their democracy day.

See tweet below...
1. Exactly twenty years ago, our nation turned the corner with a general election that signalled the end of a long spell of military dictatorship. With that came promises of good governance, equity and justice under the ambience of leadership driven by the will of the people.

2. Our celebration of democracy is therefore, a mark of our commitment to the virtues of liberty, justice and the people’s freedom to daily engage government on how best to achieve our national goals.

3. We may not have realised these promises and all that are possible in the new dispensation but democracy to me remains an incubator for great ideas, visions, development and hope.

4. That is why I urge all citizens not to give in to pessimism and despair as our nation battles the challenges of insecurity, the scourge of unemployment and prevalent poverty, all of which threaten national peace and unity.

5. As a nation, it is imperative for us to continue to strive for improvements in our electoral processes. There is a need to deepen the gains so far attained by advancing the frontiers of credible electoral processes, fidelity to the rule of law & adherence to constitutionalism.

6. A credible electoral process is no doubt fundamental to making democracy work for us as a people, as it sufficiently empowers citizens to freely choose or reject their political leadership, thereby serving as an incentive for good governance.

7. Democracy has come to stay. So, let us stay in the creed and virtues of justice, equity, and love which makes democracy a solid ground of freedom, good governance, peace, and hope.
Happy Democracy Day Nigeria!
-GEJ

We Will Retrieve Stolen Presidential Mandate Says PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2019, 09:36 AM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given President Muhammadu Buhari’s first four-year tenure a low mark for failing Nigerians adding that it will retrieve the 'stolen mandate' of its presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said that the President’s interview on Monday was nothing short of his usual blame game and continuous search for scapegoats.

“The PDP notes that it was an internationally accepted position that all critical sectors in our country performed abysmally in the last four years because of the incompetence of President Buhari’s administration.

“It was unfortunate that instead of accepting responsibility for the failures of his administration, Mr. President is looking for scapegoats where there are none.

“It is for this reason that the PDP presented a presidential candidate and deputy with strong knowledge of the economy and social order in order to rescue our nation from the dire straits into which she had been thrown due to poor leadership in the last four years”, the statement read.

The PDP also commented on the Buhari’s recent statement that leadership of the National Assembly led by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were not patriotic for not speeding up the approval of the 2018 budget.

In its reply to the President’s statement, the PDP said: “Mr. President’s personal attacks on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were totally uncalled for and speak volumes of his disposition about democracy.

“Moreover, President Buhari should end his showboating on the war against corruption. He must admit that he failed because his administration, which swims in the ocean of corruption, cannot fight corruption.

“This is an administration which thrives in concealment; under which over N14 trillion belonging to Nigerians have been frittered by officials, who have not been investigated or prosecuted.”

“Furthermore, it is disappointing that Mr. President has no soothing words for millions of compatriots who have been subjected to the worst form of economic and social misery under his incompetent and corrupt administration

“The party, however, urges Nigerians not to despair but continue in their determination and prayers to retrieve the stolen presidential mandate at the tribunal so that our nation can have a purposeful government that will be truly alive to its responsibility to the people.”

Meet Yemi Kale: The Man Governors And Ministers Fear More Than Magu Of EFCC
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2019, 09:32 AM - No Replies

Quote:Yemi Kale, National Bureau of Statistics DG – The nightmare of lazy governors, ministers and other public officials

Many would think that the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu is the biggest fear of corrupt and irresponsible politicians in Nigeria. Considering his efficiency and fearless prosecution of indicted government officials, it is right to think so. However, very few know that Yemi Kale, the Statistician-General of the Federation, and Director-General of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) holds a similar weight.

The EFCC has limitations because some public officials such as governors enjoy immunity, and can not be prosecuted while they are still in power. In such cases, the anti-corruption agency will have to wait until the officials’ tenure expires.

But the NBS only speaks with data, and that has no restrictions. These figures show whether an official is working or not; it shows if something has gone amiss in some sectors of the economy. That’s much more dreadful for slothful politicians.

It’s not about commitment to statistics… it’s commitment to service… wherever and whatever

In a recent interview on Public Conscience, a radio programme on Nigeria Info, Kale said he received death threats after releasing the unemployment figures for the third quarter of 2018. That’s how far the impact of the NBS data figures go.

“The job is extremely sensitive. My job description is to tell Nigerians what the situation on the ground is and that situation might not sit well to the same people that appointed you or people extremely powerful that might have an influence on the people that appointed you,” he said.

He used the Smart Nutrition Survey as an example. The United Nations uses this to determine whether states would receive a grant.

He explained that “UN gives money to states based on if their indicators are improving so you only get the grant if the last time you collected money it showed an improvement in the indicator.”

“A lot of states including mine, Ogun, dipped. We reported it that way so states came to us to say we are losing X billion naira if these indicators are negative, is there anything you can do to make them nicer. They won’t approach me directly initially. They implied some form of compensation and I said we don’t do this here.

“Once that didn’t work, the next approach was to attack the integrity of the data. There are many instances like that. I won’t mention which administration I’m talking about but every now and then I get such pressure.

“Towards the election, I got a couple of death threats over the unemployment data. I decided to ignore them and watch my back better.

The forms, as signed by the President and sworn to before a Judge of the Abuja High Court, showed no significant changes in assets as declared in 2015 by him.

As I walk out of government house, let nobody fight me and I will not fight anybody- Rochas Okorocha

Outgoing Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has warned the incoming government and others not to trouble him after leaving office, promising not to trouble anyone as well.

The governor stated this in his final address to the state government house workers yesterday Tuesday, May 28th. Speaking, the governor said there is a gang up against him to pull him down politically.

Quote:''As I walk out of this government house, let nobody fight me and I will not fight anybody. Governor is a shield that covers every personality that is in office. When you remove the shield of the governor off my face, you will see the real Rochas. The real Rochas is still as big, if not bigger than the Rochas who was governor''.
Meanwhile there was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth as the governor bid the workers farewell.

NASS Queries Decrease In FIRS’ 2019 Proposed Non-Oil Revenue Tax Collection
source: https://eyesoflagos.com/2019/05/29/nass-queries-decrease-in-firs-2019-proposed-non-oil-revenue-tax-collection/

National Assembly Joint Committee has raised concern over Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) 2019 projected estimate of non oil revenue tax collection of N146.54 billion. The Co-chairman of the committee, Sen. John Enoh and other members of the committee raised the concern at FIRS’s budget defence in Abuja on Monday.

The committee sought to know why the 2018 approved estimate was N153.85 while the 2019 projected cost stood at N146.54 amounting to 4.75 per cent decrease. On personnel cost, the committee asked why the service was proposing 14.6 per cent increase in number of staff from 7, 854 in 2018 to 9000 staff in 2019. It equally demanded explanation to the “proposed N160 million meant to sew drivers’ uniforms, N825 million for refreshment and security vote of N250 million among others. Eyes Of Lagos report that, The Executive Chairman of FIRS, Mr Tunde Fowler while presenting the budget proposal, noted that the proposed increase in staff strength was due to recruitment of staff scheduled in 2019.

He further explained that N160 million was earmarked to sew uniforms for the 850 drivers of the service as part of effort to make them fit properly into the structure. Also, he said the amount earmarked for security vote was meant to attend to some security issues, particularly those not receipted for. “The achievement of 2019 budget will be driven by increase oil and non-oil revenue tax collection.

“The service in realisation of this responsibility and challenges of doing manual collection will continue to implement automated tax collection for the critical sectors of the economy notably telecommunications, airlines and financial institutions.

The deployment of these platforms is at no cost to the service and the consultants will only be rewarded on increased revenue generation. “There will be increased enforcement activities nationwide to bring more tax payers into the tax net and increase compliance level,’’ Fowler said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 29TH MAY.

DON’T GIVE SATAN A CHANCE

Giving thanks unto the Father… Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness ... (Colossians 1:12-13).

If, for instance, the devil appeared to you tonight, and said, “I’m going to kill you,” what would your response be? Some Christians may start running from one “prayer house” to another, seeking help or “deliverance.” But I tell you what to do: laugh him to scorn and go to sleep!

You don’t have to lose sleep over an enemy who already knows he’s defeated and has no power, but preys on people’s ignorance and fears. That’s Satan; he’s been defeated. You’re superior to him, even if you only gave your life to Christ a few minutes ago. You’re now one with Christ, seated in His place of victory over the world, the flesh and the devil.

No Christian needs deliverance from the devil. The Bible says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” (Philippians 2:9-10). How can you be afraid of the devil when you have, and live in, the Name of Jesus, the Name that’s above every name!

In Mark 16:17, Jesus said, “...In my name shall they cast out devils….” He was talking about you. He gave you the power to CAST OUT devils! Don’t give the devil a chance. If he manifests anywhere around you, cast him out.

He may try to bring negative thoughts to your mind to cause fear; reject them. Part of his subterfuge is to bring thoughts of fear to your mind, and the more you ponder on those negative thoughts, the more you inadvertently give him space in your life. That’s why the Bible says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence…” (Proverbs 4:23).

Guard your heart against fear and unbelief, because those are Satan’s materials and weapons. Spend time to listen to the Word of God and build your faith strong. At the Pastor Chris Digital Library on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, you’ll find sufficient faith-resources that can help build and fortify your spirit. Subscribe for the messages.

Arm yourself with the Word. With the Word in your heart and on your lips, you’ll forever be indomitable.

CONFESSION

The greater One lives in me. I live in and by the Name of Jesus, taking the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. The Word of God—the sword of the Spirit—proceeds from my mouth, dislodging anything that’s of the devil around me and in my sphere of contact. Satan has nothing in me! Glory to God!

FURTHER STUDY

Ephesians 4:27 GNB Don't give the Devil a chance.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

#TALKINGSESSION

29TH MAY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the presence of Your Spirit in my life, which has ushered me into a life of unending blessings. You’ve enabled me for the triumphant life, and have enlightened the eyes of my spirit to recognize and apprehend my heritage in Christ! I am living Your dream, and gloriously
fulfilling Your destiny for me.

Today, I take advantage of the miracle-working power of Your Spirit in me, to subdue the elements of this world. I walk in the greater manifestation of Your blessings, healings, prosperity, and power. I walk in the light of Your Word and exude wisdom and sound judgment , in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

A 29-year-old man allegedly lured a 2-year-old girl with chocolates and raped her yesterday in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

A Twitter user who narrated the incident said the man is a Muslim who should have been fasting since it's Ramadan.

The man badly injured the girl when he allegedly raped her and he tried to deny it but the little girl, who is able to speak clearly, exposed him. Her elder brother who was there when he gave her chocolates also corroborated the child's claim.

The victim's parents said they were "leaving him to Allah" but the case was taken up by the concerned family member who shared the story on Twitter and according to her, the rapist has now been apprehended.

A personal steward to Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, John Achagwa, committed suicide inside the state government house yesterday Monday, May 27th.

According to reports, residents of the state government woke up to find John's body hanging lifeless on a tree at the Presidential Lodge at the centre of the Government House.

The cause of the suicide is unknown. His colleagues however said he has been unusally queit for some days.

This would be the first time such an incident would occur in the State House.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Aliyu, said an investigation has commenced on what could have led him to committing suicide. He said an autopsy would be done on him as part of the investigation on the cause of death.

Achagwa's body has been deposited at the morgue.

Who Is Afraid Of Atiku Abubakar? - By Femi Aribisala
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:These are very interesting times in Nigeria. The APC government has reportedly won a major election, but it is finding it difficult, if not impossible, to celebrate and enjoy its victory. Before the champagne could be uncorked, Atiku Abubakar filed a case in court challenging the result, claiming it was fraudulent from start to finish.

But this was a challenge unlike any other that Nigeria has seen before. Out of the blue, Atiku produced another set of results different from the one declared by INEC showing that he had actually won the election. Except that this other result also came from INEC. As a matter of fact, it was retrieved from the INEC server and it was authenticated by serial numbers unique to INEC.

Since Atiku delivered this bombshell, both the APC government and INEC have been at a loss for words. With every excuse they tried to give, Atiku had an answer. With all the facts apparently at Atiku’s disposal, I daresay if he cannot overturn this presidential election at the courts, then no presidential election can be overturn in Nigeria.

In very short order, Atiku has become the worst nightmare of this government. The new government is supposed to be sworn in on May 29. But what is the point of swearing in a new government when it is not clear if it will survive the next few weeks. How can you invite a foreign president to your highfalutin inauguration in May when his ambassador in Abuja tells him you might be kicked out by August?

The question before then before the APC is: “How do you get Atiku to go away?” How can you get him to disappear? You cannot write him a big fat cheque in the usual Nigerian way because Atiku is a man of means whose silence cannot be bought. One approach then is to attack his business interests in Nigeria.

In May 2019, the government decided to terminate the contract between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Atiku’s Intels company in the handling of oil and gas cargoes in the country. The government suddenly discovered that the contract, which had been in operation for 17 years, was “illegal.”

Treasonable felony and conspiracy

How do you get rid of Atiku Abubakar? One APC playbook says: “Accuse him of treasonable felony and conspiracy.” Try him in a kangaroo court; lock him up and throw away the key.

Lai Mohammed accused Atiku of hiring a U.S. lobby firm to persuade the United States not to recognize Buhari’s re-election. Said Mohammed: “The hiring of US lobbyists has triggered questions about what Alhaji Abubakar is up to.”

What else could Atiku be up to beside trying to retrieve his stolen mandate? Although Atiku vigorously denied hiring such lobbyists, one wonders what law their hiring would have contravened. If the APC government is afraid that the U.S. government can be persuaded that Atiku’s challenge has merit, it must be because APC knows Atiku’s case is persuasive.

Mohammed continued: “There is no doubt that the PDP presidential candidate, out of desperation, is thinking of replicating the Venezuelan model right here in Nigeria.”

This is an unfortunate slip of tongue by the honorable minister. The Venezuelan model is one of a rigged election by the government followed by widespread international recognition of the opposition as the legitimate government. If the APC is afraid this can be replicated in Nigeria, it can only be because it knows the president’s re-election is invalid.

Mohammed then came up with the bogus claim that Atiku and the PDP are planning to foment trouble in Nigeria. He said: “Our interventions are based on credible evidence, and no government with the kind of evidence that we have, of plans to subvert the power of the state, attack the nation’s economic life wire, and generally unleash mayhem on the polity, will keep quiet.”

If this were true, then the government should simply arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. But instead, Mohammed merely cried wolf. He offered not a single shred of evidence to back up his fabricated allegations.

Fire and brimstone

How quickly they forget. The same Lai Mohammed falsely accusing Atiku of treason in 2019 is the same Lai Mohammed that threatened treasonable felony in 2014. As the then official spokesman for the APC, he said: “Let us remind the presidency, in case it has forgotten, that election fraud triggered a civil war in Algeria in the early 1990s, led to the killing of over 1,000 people in post-election riots in Kenya in 2007/2008 and fired a near revolution in Iran in 2009/2010.”

What then, we should ask the honourable minister, should election fraud in Nigeria in 2019 trigger? This is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Atiku’s mandate was blatantly stolen, nevertheless, he has not even mobilized any demonstrations. Compare that with Buhari’s stance in 2011. As the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Buhari told his supporters in Hausa: “First, you must register, come out and vote. You guard, protect, escort to the collation center and you wait until the result is counted. Anyone who stops you, kill them.”

When he lost that election, some one million people were killed in demonstrations in the North. In 2015, Buhari repeated the same threats of violence and mayhem. He said: “If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.’’

Coup plotters

How do you get rid of Atiku Abubakar? Another playbook says: “Accuse him of trying to instigate a coup d’etat by the military.

Going by the coup playbook, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), dissociated itself from a bogus document claimed to have been written by a faceless group calling for the overthrow of the Buhari government and the setting up of an interim government. The Department of State Services (DSS) also came out severely warning those it claimed are determined to truncate Nigerian democracy.

But the question needs to be asked: how can any group overthrow a government that has just won an election by landslide? What happened to the new and improved 4 million APC majority at the polls? Is that not more than sufficient as a safeguard against illegal overthrow?

The fact of the matter is that the nervousness of the government about the possibility of revolutionary overthrow on the very eve of a “famous” victory at the polls is eloquent testimony that the so-called victory is infamous and pure fiction. Only fools conduct coups against popular governments. If Nigerian the government is running scared, it is because it lacks popular support.

There is one curious example of this in Nigerian history. In 1983, President Shehu Shagari and the NPN won a so-called landslide victory at the polls. Everyone knew this landslide was fiction. Therefore, nobody complained when, just a few months afterwards, the government was overthrown in a military coup. Paradoxically, the leader of that coup was none other than Nigeria’s current president: General Muhammadu Buhari.

The past has a tendency to haunt our future.

Shugaba playbook

How do you get Atiku to go away? There is one other playbook that is original to Nigeria. This is the Shugaba approach.

Shugaba Darman was a popular charismatic politician who was a thorn in the flesh of the ruling National Party of NigeriaNPN) during Nigeria’s third republic. He attracted large crowds at political rallies where he criticized the NPN government. The answer of the government was to forcefully deport him to Chad on the bogus allegation that his father was a Chadian.

Although Shugaba fought his deportation in court and won every step of the way all the way to the Supreme Court, nevertheless, there are indications today’s APC government is not averse to employing the “Shugaba playbook” on Atiku. Out of nowhere, the government is now claiming that Atiku, who was Nigeria’s Deputy Director of Customs and the country’s vice president for 8 years, is not a Nigerian after all, but actually a Cameroonian. The next step, therefore, might be to Shugaba him back to Cameroon.

The Shugaba playbook might be combined with the Umaru Dikko playbook popularized by none other by President Buhari in his first coming as head-of-state. Like Dikko, Atiku could be kidnapped, drugged, put in a crate and flown out of the country in the dead of night; only to be dropped off near his “family house” in Yaounde.

But the problem with this approach is that Atiku is always one step ahead of the government. If they attempt this gambit, they may discover on getting to Yaounde, that the man in the crate is not Atiku but his double. Then they will get word that the real Atiku is somewhere nicely ensconced in Abuja, eating tuwo shinkafa with his lawyers.

Danger man

Why is this man Atiku so dangerous? Why is he so toxic to the health and welfare of this government?

The reason is simple. Atiku is a consummate political infighter. He won every court battle he fought when he was vice-president. He defeated attempts to remove him as vice-president, as well as attempts to disqualify him from running for president. Unlike many in the APC, Atiku pays great attention to detail. Moreover, he has the resources to fight this government into the ground and come up victorious.

He is not naïve. He knew the election would be rigged. Therefore, apart from extensively campaigning for votes, he equally set up an elaborate apparatus for challenging the expected false results. My guess is that Atiku organized his defense against the APC even before the election took place.

He must have had people manning every polling booth. He certainly had computers monitoring the INEC websites. He probably had eyes in the skies, even drones, trailing the movement of curious bullion vans. I will not be surprised if he even comes up with voice and video recordings of his opponents’ strategy sessions revealing how and where they switched the votes. No candidate, in the history of Nigeria, has ever mounted as comprehensive a challenge to a presidential election as Atiku has done.

As a result, Atiku’s presentations before the election petitions tribunal took the APC for a loop. They have been having sleepless nights ever since then. Moreover, they are convinced what they have seen up to now is only the tip of the iceberg. They are now asking themselves: “What will this man come up with next?” “How can we get this man to go away?”

No chance of that. In 2017, the presidential election in Kenya was overturned by the courts. In 2019, chances are the same thing will happen in Nigeria.

FIRS Budgets N160 Million For 850 Drivers’ Uniforms, N825 Million For Refreshmen
User Avatar Forum: News

The National Assembly Joint Committee has raised concern over Federal Inland Revenue Service’s (FIRS) 2019 projected estimate of non-oil revenue tax collection of N146.54 billion.

The co-chairman of the committee, John Enoh, and other members of the committee raised the concern at FIRS’s budget defence in Abuja on Monday.

The committee sought to know why the 2018 approved estimate was N153.85 billion, while the 2019 projected cost stood at N146.54, amounting to 4.75 per cent decrease.

On personnel cost, the committee asked why the service was proposing 14.6 per cent increase in number of staff from 7, 854 in 2018 to 9000 staff in 2019.

It equally demanded explanation for the “proposed N160 million meant to sew drivers’ uniforms, N825 million for refreshment and security vote of N250 million among others.”

The Executive Chairman of FIRS, Tunde Fowler while presenting the budget proposal, noted that the proposed increase in staff strength was due to recruitment of staff scheduled in 2019.

He further explained that N160 million was earmarked to sew uniforms for the 850 drivers of the service as part of effort to make them fit properly into the structure.

That means each driver’s uniform will cost over N188,000.

Also, Mr Fowler said the amount earmarked for security vote was meant to attend to some security issues, particularly those not receipted for.

“The deployment of these platforms is at no cost to the service and the consultants will only be rewarded on increased revenue generation.

“There will be increased enforcement activities nationwide to bring more tax payers into the tax net and increase compliance level,’’ Mr Fowler said.

PDP *Buhari's Interview Confirms Failure, Incompetence in
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Press Statement

*Buhari's Interview Confirms Failure, Incompetence in Governance*

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari's resort to blame game and false performance claims, in his media interview, has  further confirmed that the last four years of his administration smacks of failure and incompetence.

The party also indicted President Buhari for not using his orchestrated interview to give account for the trillions stolen under his watch in the last four years.

The PDP notes that it was an internationally accepted position that all critical sectors in our country performed abysmally in the last four years because of the incompetence of President Buhari's administration, adding that it was unfortunate that instead of accepting responsibility for the failures of his administration, Mr. President is looking for scapegoats where there are none.

It is for this reason that the PDP presented a presidential candidate and deputy with strong knowledge of the economy and social order in order to rescue our nation from the dire straits into which she had been thrown due to poor leadership in the last four years.

The PDP also observes that President Buhari's diatribe against the National Assembly and its elected leadership further confirms his disdain for constitutional democracy, rule of law and the Principle of Separation of powers as entrenched in our constitution.

Mr President's personal attacks on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were totally uncalled for and speak volumes on his disposition about democracy.

Moreover, President Buhari should end his showboating on the war against corruption. He must admit that he failed  because his administration, which swims in ocean of corruption, cannot fight corruption. This is an administration which thrives in concealment; under which over N14 trillion belonging to Nigerians have been frittered by officials, who have not been investigated or prosecuted.

The party said President Buhari also failed as a Commander-in-Chief and lamented the escalation of insurgency, bloodletting, kidnapping and other forms of violent acts in various parts of our nation under his administration.

Furthermore, it is disappointing that Mr. President has no soothing words for millions of compatriots who have been subjected to the worst form of economic and social misery under his incompetent and corrupt administration

The party however urges Nigerians not to despair but continue in their determination and prayers to retrieve the stolen Presidential mandate at the tribunal so that our nation can have a purposeful government that will be truly alive to its responsibility to the people.

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan
National Publicity Secretary

Fraudsters arrested with charms plead guilty to fraud in Ilorin (Photos)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on May 28, 2019 arraigned two suspected Internet fraudsters at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.

The suspects, Johnson Okuselu and Akande Saheed, were arraigned on two separate charges before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye.

Quote:One of the charges reads: “That you, Johnson Opeyemi Okuselu (a.k.a Blessed Saviour) sometime in April 2019, or thereabout at Ilorin, Kwara State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court attempted to commit an offence by pretending to be one Blessed Saviour, representing yourself to be a white Woman who is capable of providing job in the United States of America to one Omni Guzman as contained in your email conversation done through your Gmail account, contrary to Section 95 and 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the same law.”

They both pleaded “guilty” to the charges. Counsel for the EFCC, A.A. Adebayo, told the Court that the defendants had entered into a plea bargain agreement with the Commission.

He, thus, asked the court to give a date for the prosecution to call its star witness in order to review the facts of the case. Justice Oyinloye, thereafter, adjourned the case to June 8, 2019 for reviewing of facts, and ordered that the defendants be remanded in EFCC custody.

"Whatever is going on is without my support" Regina Daniels' biological father reacts to her wedding to Ned Nwoko

A lawyer claiming to be Regina Daniels' biological father has reacted to the news of her traditional marriage to billionaire politician, Ned Nwoko.

Jude Ojeogwu, a lawyer practising in Lagos, condemned the marriage between his daughter and a much older man. He said he's not aware of the union and didn't consent to it.

He told LIB that he's the real father of the former child actress and has photos of her from her naming ceremony to her child dedication to prove this.

A look at his Facebook account shows photos of Regina and her siblings, some posted as far back as 2012.

Reacting to her traditional marriage holding today, Ojeogwu wrote:

Quote:Regina daniel Ojeogwu is my biological daughter. What ever is ongoing is not to my knowledge and without my consent. The fact speaks for itself looking at the picture. Her mother Rita daniel is threading on a dangerous path and I hope she will retrace her steps. Even the initiation ceremony into otu odu appears completely strange to Regina daniel Ojeogwu. Regina is from ogwashi uku and not from olor as being rumored. All the opportunities for Mr Ned nwoko to discuss with me proved abortive not realising that we once lived in the same house in awoyokun street, onikpan, Lagos. The implication of all this is that she inpregnated herself. The name Regina was my late mother's name. I have tried to exercise restraint but Regina mother kept pushing me to wall. Am alive and not dead.

Full text of Governor Ambode’s farewell speech as he hands over to Babajide Sanwo-olu

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has handed over the reins of government in Lagos State to Babajide Sanwoolu.

According to Ambode, 'its been a rewarding 4-year experience. This would not have been possible without the support, cooperation and prayers of all Lagosians. I remain eternally grateful to you all. God bless you all. And to God be all the Glory'.

See his full speech below...

Quote:My fellow Lagosians.
With a heart full of gratitude, I address you today for the last time as your governor. It has been an honour and a privilege of a lifetime to serve you for the last four years.
It has been a remarkable journey which has had a lasting impact on my life and I want to thank all Lagosians for the experience of these last four years.
As in the beginning when we visited every single corner of this state, listening to you and asking for your votes, I have felt the power of your support, your collective energy and the endless goodwill that has propelled us to achieve many things.
For this administration, policies, programmes and projects aimed at lifting more of our people out of poverty and making every part of the State safe, accessible and economically viable were always the priority; the driving force behind all our decisions and plans.
A few of our policies might have been unpopular but these were decisions taken with the best interest of our State in mind. With the benefit of hindsight, maybe we could have done some things differently but our intention was always clear, for the good of Lagos.
Even in those tough times, your constructive feedback and patience helped us surmount the challenges and enabled us grow stronger.
As a little boy growing up in Lagos, all I wanted was to be an accountant. This State gave me that and so much more. Our State is a land of opportunities, a home for everyone and a place where dreams come true. It is our duty and responsibility to ensure that we remain a centre of opportunities and growth for everyone; a place where people can achieve their dreams and aspirations.
From being just a commercial centre, our State has now become a prime destination for tourism, sports, entertainment and culture. And the future is even brighter with more exciting prospects and possibilities. In the near future, with God on our side, Lagos will take its rightful place in the comity of major city-States of the world.
Fellow Lagosians, it has been a remarkable journey. One in which we have pushed boundaries and moved our State to another level. A journey in which we have transformed many aspects of our State and set the ball rolling in other sectors. But there is still a lot more to be done.
But it is a job not for only the government; it is a responsibility for us all. In Lagos everyone counts and we all have a part to play.
By tomorrow, there will be a change of guard in our State. I will be stepping down and a new Governor will be sworn in. We will have a new Governor and a new administration with the same objective; achieving a better Lagos.
Those who have had the privilege of serving our dear State in different capacities especially as Governors owe their successes to your prayers, understanding and support. The same courtesy and cooperation that you gave to my predecessors from the first elected Governor of the State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande to our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) to my humble self, I urge you to extend same to the next administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and ensure that he succeeds. It is in our best interest to do so.
I am immensely grateful to the three arms of Government, the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary for their immense support throughout the tenure of our administration.
I also reserve special thanks for the leadership, elders and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, the Local Government Councils and community leaders, all our Security agencies, civil society groups and our religious leaders.
I also owe a debt of gratitude to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo (SAN) for their support in the last four years.
To my wife, Bolanle and the children, who have had to endure many days and nights without me; I thank you for your love and steadfastness. You will continue to be my pillar of strength.
To all Lagosians; for your love, compassion, cooperation and support, I am eternally grateful. My love always.
God bless you.
God bless Lagos State, and
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

42 inmates across three Brazilian prisons are found strangled to death inside their cells (Photos)

Forty-two inmates have been confirmed dead after they were found hanged inside their cells at three different prisons in Brazil's Amazonas state.

According to the Amazonas state prison agency, all the 42 prisoners were on Monday found dead in the city of Manaus and they showed signs of Asphyxiation.

Brazilian outlet, Exame reported that the deaths occurred by hanging and were reported at Antônio Trindade Criminal Institute (Ipat), the Puraquequara Prison Unit (UPP) and the Provisional Detention Center (CDPM I), all located in Manaus.

Local authorities said prisoners began fighting among themselves before noon Sunday, and security reinforcements were rushed in and managed to regain control within 45 minutes.
The death toll comes just a day after 15 others died during fighting among prisoners at a fourth prison in the same city.

The State Department of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) has said the main lead in the investigation is factional disputes in the states after the Amazonas state prison agency confirmed that several prisoners were 'found dead by hanging inside their cells'.

Brazil’s justice and public security ministry said it was sending a federal task force to help local officials handle the situation.

'I just spoke with (Justice) Minister Sergio Moro, who is already sending a prison intervention team to the State of Amazonas, so that he can help us in this moment of crisis and a problem that is national: the problem of prisons,' Amazonas state Gov. Wilson Lima said.

The prison agency said that the situation was 'under control' and that prisoners were under lockdowns.

Secretary Col. Marcus Vinicius de Almeidasaid an investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fight on Sunday.
'Some died inside the cell with the bars closed,' Almeida said.
'Some deaths occurred by asphyxiation andothers by perforations with the use of ... [sharpened] toothbrush.'

Heartbroken families have been visiting the prisons since the news broke, asking and pleading for answers on the cause of the death of their loved ones.

2019 Budget: Blame Yourself For Delay In Passage – Dogara Tells Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2019, 01:34 PM - No Replies

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday has said President Muhammadu Buhari should be blamed and not the leadership of the National Assembly for the delay in the passage of the 2019 budgets.

Buhari, who had on Monday signed the 2019 budget into law, had later at night passed a vote of no confidence on Dogara and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Buhari had blamed the delay in signing 2019 budget on the leadership of the National Assembly.

However, Dogara said since President Buhari assumed office, he, “has been unable to present budget on time.”

In a statement he signed, Dogara said: “His first budget was the 2016 budget, which was submitted on December 22, 2015, exactly nine days to the end of the fiscal year.

“The minimum time the National Assembly requires to pass budget is three months. But he presented it just nine days to 2016’ and that ‘what Nigerians didn’t know and the President won’t say is that the Executive through the various ministries continued to propose additional projects to be included in the 2018 budget even as at April and May which further delayed the passage of the 2018 budget. These were communicated officially and if anyone is in doubt, the letters are there with the dates they were written and received. But here’s Buhari blaming the National Assembly.’

“President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago, in his usual characteristics of self-righteousness, and buck-passing blamed tardiness in the passage of budgets by the National Assembly for the delay in the completion of projects across the country by his government.

“To be precise, the president said, ‘If the National Assembly takes seven months to pass a budget, then we should be commended for the much that we have achieved, and can still achieve. I personally feel very disappointed. I spoke with the leaders of the National Assembly on the issue that seven months is a long time to work on a budget.”

“Even though buck passing and blame game is not new to Buhari as it is now his stock in trade; in the past few days and weeks, there is no day that passes without the President blaming others in a desperate move to exonerate himself from any blame or failure of the Executive under his leadership to execute projects across the country.

“In fact, very recently, Buhari blamed all his predecessors for failing to build infrastructure. And I wonder why? It was the general consensus that the former employees didn’t perform as expected and that was why Nigerians hired him for a job he has sought for four conservative time but here he is blaming the same people he replaced. If you are the boss of ” Nigeria limited”, what will you do this employee?

“Some weeks ago, he even blamed the media for failing to showcase his achievements.

“I’m very disappointed with the Nigerian press. They didn’t give this government the credit of the go back to land programme,” he said on 26 October. Time and space would not permit me to list all his “blaming”.

“However, it is disingenuous for President Muhammad Buhari to blame the National Assembly for his government’s inability to implement budget and execute projects that affect the lives of Nigerians in the last three years.

“To set the record straight, this is a President who, from inception of his government didn’t show any sign that he was well prepared and ready for the job he sought for four times in 16 years and for which we voted for him.

“For instance, it took him six months, yes six months not six weeks to form his cabinet. It also took him two years to appoint board chairmen for most government agencies. This is was his greatest undoing and was principally responsible for plunging Nigeria into recession because activities in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government were brought to a half for the period since civil servants could not take decisions due to absence of political heads in a country where public sector spending drives the economy. At a point, he even said he was happy working with civil servants because ministers or politicians were noisemakers because “they are only there to make a lot of noises”, he told a French television station in September 2015.

“Now, after three years, with election in three months, the President is at it again, exonerating himself from apparent failure of his government thereby throwing the blame right at the doorstep of the legislature. But facts don’t lie and they could be stubborn and here are the facts:

“Late budget presentation

“Since his assuming office, the president has been unable to present budget on time. His first budget was the 2016 budget which was submitted on December 22, 2015, exactly nine days to the end of the fiscal year.

“The minimum the National Assembly requires to pass budget is three months. But he presented it just nine days to 2016.

“Again, the 2017 budget was presented on December 14,2016, just 17 days to the end of 2016. ‘The earliest he presented budget was on November 7, 2017 which was the 2018 appropriations bill. It was less than two months to the end of the year.

“However, his ministers refused to appear before National Assembly committees to defend the budget for five months thereby delaying the passage.

“It was after the leadership of the National Assembly sought the President’s intervention on March 16, 2018 that the ministers reluctantly appeared before the committees, an exercise that takes at least one month to complete.

“In fact , some of them who felt they were super ministers sent in their permanent secretaries.

“What Nigerians didn’t know and the President won’t say is that the Executive through the various ministries continued to propose additional projects to be included in the 2018 budget even as at April and May which further delayed the passage of the 2018 budget. These were communicated officially and if anyone is in doubt the letters are there with the dates they were written and received. But here’s Buhari blaming the National Assembly.

“Violation of Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007 ‘Since the inception of the Buhari administration, it has been in constant violation of the Fiscal Responsibility Act which stipulates that budgets should be presented in early September. The wisdom or import of the FRA is that the National Assembly will have at least three full months to work on the budget bill.

“Intact, the Executive admitted its failure and inability to abide by the law on August 24,2018 when former minister of Budget and National Planning, now minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed disclosed that the Federal government will present the 2019 budget in September in a bid to restore the budget circle from January to December but here we are in November without the budget estimates before the lawmakers.

“Buhari’s Failure/Refusal to assent to budget submission Bill ‘In a bid to address the issue of late budget presentation and passage, the National Assembly passed a constitutional amendment bill that requires the President to submit the Appropriation Bill not later than 90 days to the end of the financial year but unfortunately, very unfortunately, the president has vetoed the bill. I rate Saraki, Dogara low on patriotism for delaying the budget – President Buhari

President Buhari has rated Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, low on patrotism for the delay in passing the 2019 budget. The President presented the budget to a join session of the National Assembly in December 2018 and the Lawmakers passed the budget into law in April, five months after.

Apparently displeased by the delay in passing the Budget every year, President Buhari in a
taped interview broadcast on Nigerian Television Authority on Monday night, said he expresed his displeasure to Saraki and Dogara while assenting the budget on Monday May 27th.

Quote:“I think a culture was developed in the National Assembly that they should dictate the terms, which was wrong. It is the executive that dictates the terms and takes it before the legislature. It (the legislature) will examine it and agree or disagree with it.
But when they go around posing that they are the government and not the executive, then that’s the problem. I felt it and I spoke personally to the Senate President, Saraki, and the leader of the House, Dogara. They could not deny it.
I asked them how they felt to hold the country at ransom for seven months without passing a budget. Unfortunately, they were not hurting me; they were hurting the country. So, really, in terms of patriotism, I think I rated them very low indeed.
But to hold a budget for seven months cannot be justified if you really bother about the country,” he said

Rapper, Iggy Azalea's nude photos leak online as hackers target her 2016 photoshoot (18+photos)

Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea has deleted all her social media accounts after nude photos of her from a 2016 'GQ' photoshoot leaked online.

In the wake of this breach of privacy, photographer Nino Munoz,  who captured the images in 2016 insists they were stolen.

Munoz addressed the controversy via Instagram saying: “I’m outraged and saddened to find out that images of mind were stolen and published without my permission,” he wrote. “There is currently an investigation underway. Posting these stolen images is illegal and anyone who has done so will be prosecuted.
“I empathize with any discomfort that this situation has caused to anyone that is involved.”

Iggy who deactivated both her Instagram on Monday following the leak is also upset and has vowed to take legal action.

She temporarily reactivated one of her social media accounts to issue a statement saying:
“A lot of high profile women have shot covers with GQ with a strategically placed hand etc covering their breasts etc.,” she wrote in part. “I always felt they were very beautiful covers, so I jumped at the opportunity. I hadn’t seen other women’s covers leak so I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine knowing only the images with my hands covering would be considered for print.
“I never consented to taking topless pictures for potential release, period. I don’t feel there is any where I can retreat to or that I have a ‘happy place’ I can wait until it all blows over. Please think of how you might feel if the shoe was yours to wear.”
A lot of the comments I see from men in particular taking things even further and sharing their thoughts and fantasies in regard to my body has honestly disturbed me,” she continued. “The outright wicked things people say is overwhelming & makes me feel like throwing up.”

In the photos, the 28-year-old rapper was pictured showing off her nude titties during the photoshoot.

Daily Devotional for Tuesday 28th May

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 28TH MAY.

ALWAYS BEING TRANSFIGURED

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering (Luke 9:29).

Following the experience of Jesus as He prayed at the Mount of Transfiguration, there’re those who think they’d always have to go to that particular mountain to get transfigured. But no; it was just a mountain.

Evidently, Jesus was often transfigured as He prayed, but the account in Luke 9 was one occasion that the disciples had the opportunity to be present and see Him transfigured before them. God opened their eyes on that occasion to see what was happening with Jesus—the resplendent glory that effused from Him. If their eyes hadn’t been opened, they wouldn’t have seen the transfiguration. It was spiritual, for they saw Elijah and Moses as well, who disappeared as the vision faded.

Now, what happened to Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration happens to us most of the time as we pray in the Holy Ghost; we’re transfigured; we literally glow from inside out. It’s something spiritual; that’s why those around you may not see or notice anything, except the Lord opens their eyes, like He did the disciples.

The glory of God is in your spirit; your spirit is glorified with Christ. That glory radiates from within and permeates everything around you when you pray, when you study, and when you meditate on God’s Word.

Remember the testimony of Stephen in Acts 6:15, when he was arrested and brought before the council. The Bible says his face looked to them like that of an angel. They didn’t always see Stephen’s face aglow like that every day, and everywhere he went. The people’s eyes were suddenly opened to see the glory on his face at that particular moment.

A similar occurrence took place when Jesus appeared to two of His disciples, after His resurrection. He walked with them a long distance, and even followed them home, yet they didn’t recognise Him. But as He partook of the Communion with them, their eyes were opened, and they recognised Him, but he promptly vanished from their sight (Luke 24:16-31).

Others may not see the glory all over you. Their eyes may not be opened to see it on your face, but one thing is sure: the glory of God is on you, and in your spirit! You’re constantly transfigured from glory to glory as you fellowship the Spirit; it’s one of the many glorious benefits of prayer.

CONFESSION

I’m constantly transfigured, being filled with the Spirit. As I speak in tongues, there’s an unleashing of the supernatural and all-round transformation in my spirit, soul, and body. My spirit gains the ascendancy and power over anything that’s of the world, and I rise higher and higher like an edifice, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study

1st Corinthians 14:2For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

2nd Corinthians 3:18 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

#TALKINGSESSION

28TH MAY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank You for the power and ability of Your Word to bring me health, prosperity and cause me to excel in all I do. Your Word is in my heart and in my mouth today, producing in me a harvest of what it talks about. With Your Word, I am set on the course that I must follow. My future is bright
and full of glory. There’s no darkness in me;

I enjoy a sweet and rich fellowship with the Word and Your Spirit. As I meditate on the Word, I am transfigured and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. My heart is filled with divine wisdom; thus, I move in the direction of Your vision for my life, and I am making a great difference in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

The incumbent governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, is seeking return to office but he will do battle with some formidable aspirants such as Mona Mustapha, son of the late Prince Abubakar Audu; Sani Lulu, a former President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), former Commissioner for Agriculture in the Kogi, Tim Diche, among others.

A source had told Daily Independent on Monday that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC will meet and throw its support behind one of the aspirants for the governorship position.

“The APC NWC will meet and take a position on the issue. They will likely endorse a candidate whom they believe is qualified to lead the state. I believe it will be a two-horse race between Yahaya Bello and Mustapha, son of the late Audu”, the source said in a text message.

However, speaking with Daily Independent, Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, said the party will not favour any aspirant over another and will ensure there is a level-playing field for all aspirants seeking to contest the governorship election under its platform.

He said the party will do everything possible not to allow what happened last week when the Supreme Court voided the votes scored by it and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) became the beneficiary.

“The party will not endorse any aspirant not only in Kogi but Bayelsa. The APC is a law-abiding party that adheres to the constitution. We all saw what happened in Zamfara and we don’t want that to happen again.

“We need to strengthen our internal democracy and endorsing any aspirant or imposition of candidate is not a good way. The APC NWC under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a law-abiding party and we will give all aspirants a level-playing field”.

Also on Monday, Governor Yahaya Bello said he is not in any way threatened by some aspirants who have ganged up against him to ensure he does not get the APC’s ticket.

It would be recalled that the APC Aspirants’ Forum, Kogi chapter, had last week rejected the candidature of Yahaya Bello for a second term in office over alleged bad leadership and non-performance.

The aspirants in a communique issued by the forum at the end of its meeting on Monday in Abuja which was signed by its chairman, Ben Adaji, appealed to Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of APC and its National Working Committee (NWC) not to give the governorship ticket to Bello.

It added that giving the ticket to Bello to run for a second term would be a risk, saying the party may lose the state to the opposition.

It said Bello had remained adamant in spite directives by President Muhammadu Buhari to all APC governors to reconcile and accommodate the party’s aspirants after the last primaries.

However, reacting to the forum’s demands, Kingsley Fanwo, Director-General, Media and Publicity to the governor, said none of the aspirants have been part of APC meeting since 2015 while the governor has singlehandedly carried the party, resulting in the almost hundred percent victory recorded by the APC in the just concluded general elections in Kogi.

“None of them has been part of any APC meeting since 2015. None of them participated in our ward, LG and state congresses. None of them participated in the national conventions. We respect their rights to contest but we are not threatened in anyway.

“Governor Bello has been carrying the party since 2015. The sheep know their shepherd and the shepherd knows his sheep. When we get to the bridge, we shall cross it. Bello will win a second term”, he said.

‘Whistleblower’ accusing CBN governor of fraud sent to prison
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2019, 08:40 AM - No Replies

A man who accused the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, of fraud has been remanded in prison after he said Mr Emefiele should not be given another term.

The accuser, George Uboh, who heads the nongovernmental George Uboh Whistleblowers Network, was remanded on May 23 in Suleja prison following a defamation suit filed by Mr Emefiele.

Mr Uboh was arrested as he was leaving the court after being granted bail in another matter last week, his lawyer, JohnMary Jideobi, said.

Background

Mr Uboh was the first to file a suit against Mr Emefiele at the Federal High Court, Abuja, challenging the federal government’s plans to extend the appointment of Mr Emiefele.

Mr Uboh, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/419/2019, wanted the court to stop the re-appointment.

Despite an exparte order, Mr Emiefiele was yet to answer the pending case when the Senate confirmed him for a second term in office.

In the suit brought before the Federal High Court, Abuja division, Mr Uboh said the federal government could not ask the Senate to confirm Mr Emiefele’s reappointment “when a matter challenging his stewardship at the Central Bank before the court had not been decided.”

According to copies of the suit seen by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Uboh accused the CBN governor of conniving with the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to defraud Nigerians.

In an affidavit deposed to by Martin Okoye, a lawyer at the chambers of Mr Jideobi, the applicant said Mr Emefiele connived with the NNPC to divert $24 million from funds which accrued to Nigeria through the sale of petroleum products in the country.

“In January, 2016, NNPC issued an instruction to the CBN; headed by the Defendant to transfer $162, 064, 237.46 to CBN/JV Cash Call Account 001-1-658-366 with JP Morgan and Debit CBN/NNPC Crude Oil Revenue Domiciliary Account No. 400941775.

“That a closer scrutiny of “Exhibit GUWN 8” and “Exhibit GUWN 9” clearly shows that while revenue from gas may have been correctly stated, that of crude oil was understated to the tune of Twenty Four Million United States Dollars [$24, 000, 000.00].

“That the instruction of the NNPC directing the CBN to remit $162, 064, 237.46 instead of the $186, 327, 246.02 it generated clearly reveals the collusion of the Defendant with the NNPC to rip the Treasury of the Federal Government and the FAAC of $24, 263, 008.56. Now shown to me and marked as “Exhibit SUIT 1.”

The applicant also said Mr Emiefele diverted over $760 million from foreign exchange earnings.

“In 2017, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) confirmed to have sold forex to Bureau De Change (BDCs) at four (4) different locations across the Federation, namely Lagos, Kano, Abuja and Awka. The Apex Bank further confirmed that a total sum of Four Billion, One Hundred and Fifty Nine Million, Nine Hundred and Sixteen Thousand United States Dollars [$4, 159, 916, 000.00] were sold to the BSCs in 2017.

“That despite the Apex Bank selling forex to the BDCs at the rates of N360.00 to N381.00 per Dollar in 2017, it never declared more than N304-N305 per dollar. This occasioned a huge loss of over N232 billion (which is an equivalent of $760 million) to the Federal Government’s Treasury from the forex sales of BDCs alone, representing exchange gains which should have been disclosed to the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee [FAAC].”

With the pending suit filed against him, which he was yet to respond to, Mr Emefiele ensured Mr Uboh’s arrest and prosecution.

Mr Uboh was arrested by operatives of the Police Force Criminal Investigations Department

25-years after, FG fulfils pledge to give a house to former Super Eagles’ coach, Clemens Westerhof

Today, the federal government redeemed a 25-year pledge when it presented documents of the apartment promised to Clemens Westerhof, former Super Eagles’ chief coach, for leading his team to world glory in 1994.

Babatunde Fashola, the minister of power, works and housing, who made the presentation on behalf of government, said it was regrettable that a promise took so long to redeem.

“It is unfortunate that this is a promise that has taken us so long to redeem. But it is indeed better late than never in this case,’’ he said.
Westerhof, a native of Holland, in 1994 led the senior male national football team to Nigeria’s second continental triumph. The team won the Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) at Tunisia, coming 14 years after the first triumph in Lagos in 1980. His team went on to shock the world at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the U.S., where they lost in the second round 1-2 to Italy after extra time.

Fashola said Nigeria as a country and all Nigerians as a group are grateful to the Dutchman because he really did the country proud with his achievements. “I thank Westerhof on behalf of all of us for the services he rendered to Nigeria, and we are proud that he has come to receive the documents alive,’’ he said.

The minister went on to disclose that Westerhof’s apartment was under renovation and he would only get the keys after the apartment was ready for occupation.

In his response, Westerhof said he was highly surprised and thankful that he was finally getting the apartment which is in the Gwagwalada area council of the FCT.

“I am thankful to you all, and now I can feel myself more of a Nigerian now. I can now stay here when it is so cold back there in Europe. I also thank God for this blessing of being invited here today to collect my papers. I hope I will soon get my keys, because you never know with Nigeria’’ he said.

Recall that on February 19, 2019, Gbenro Ajibade slammed her for leaving their child in the hands of strangers so as to go party with friends.

"Who leaves their baby in the house and goes out to party with friends/events from 6 pm to 5 am?!!! It is not the first, second, third and fourth time, the other night you slept out you sent our baby off with a stranger to drop her off at home with the nanny so you can be out all night," he wrote.

The post led to lots of controversy, with many calling out the actor for publicly shaming his wife and never wanting her to work. A quick check on social media revealed that before the call out post, Osas Ighodaro had proudly flaunted her wedding ring, however she has ditched them and leaves her fingers bare "for now". Jonathan: We shouldn’t have a repeat of 2019 elections
[Image: Jonathan-1-653x365.jpg]
May 27

Facebook87TwitterTelegram

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says Nigeria should modify its laws such that the 2023 elections would not be a “repeat of what happened in 2019”.
Jonathan made this known during a public lecture and presentation of a book titled “Excellence in Governance and Creativity: Legal Essays”.

The book was dedicated to Nyesom Wike, Rivers state governor.

Referring to newly elected members of the national assembly, Jonathan said protests and rejection of vote results that arose after the polls were caused by lack of confidence in the electoral system.

He said African nations should establish minimum standards that their electoral management bodies should adopt to deepen the credibility of the process.
The programme held in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Monday.

“Parliamentarians who have won elections to go the national assembly should take a look at what happened in the 2019 elections. We must modify our laws to make sure that in the 2023 elections, some of these things don’t repeat,” he said.

“If democracy must endure in Africa,  then the process leading to elections and the conduct of elections must be done in a way that people will have confidence in the system.

“I believe that in Africa, for us to move forward we have no choice but to look forward to full electronic voting.

“This is debatable because a number of people are afraid that somebody hiding in his toilet can change the figures by pressing one or two buttons on a device, but we can’t run away from this.

“It is the ultimate and we must get there. But before we get there, we have to make sure that Nigeria and other countries must come out with a minimum and acceptable standards of constituting our electoral management bodies, in a way that will inspire the confidence of the people.

“As a nation we must move forward. Nigeria is a very important country in Africa and we must  set the pace in some of these areas. We must not wait for other countries to come and teach us how we should elect our people.”

Jonathan recounted his experience when he led an election observer team to monitor South Africa’s national and provincial elections.

He said political parties had confidence in the country’s electoral body and security system because their processes were transparent, thereby contributing to the success of the polls.

“In South Africa, the first impression the electoral observer missions had was that political parties had confidence in the electoral management body known as the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC),” he said.

“All the political parties we discussed with also had confidence in the IEC and that happened because they were not constituted by just one person.

“They also had maximum confidence in the security system. With that kind of confidence in place, at least more than sixty percent of the problem is solved.”

Minister inaugurates EOC in Kaduna, remodelled terminal in North East Maiduguri

MINISTER of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika continued his inspection of various airports across the country, commissioning the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Kaduna, as well as the remodelled terminal building in Maiduguri
The Minister had halted his tour around airports across the nation following plans to hand over but recommenced on Monday where he inaugurated some NAMA, NiMET, NCAT and NCAA projects ( North West ) while he inspected and commissioned FAAN solar Air Field Lightning, Apron Flood Lighting in Maiduguri ( North East).

Inaugurating the EOC in Kaduna, Sirika explained its importance and stated that it would be used for the betterment of the industry and the nation in general.
Speaking before the inauguration, Managing Director FAAN, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu said the EOC was a requirement for the aerodrome emergency plan.

“We are here to commission the Emergency Operation Centre for Kaduna International Airport. This project will not be here if, in 2017, the honorable Minister has not directed that we must work to ensure the Kaduna Airport becomes a viable and suitable alternative to Abuja

“The EOC is a structure we need to make Kaduna a viable alternative to Abuja because where ever you have an airport you must be prepared for an emergency just like we did in Abuja Airport. This Airport has an aerodrome emergency plan and all aerodrome emergency plans requires by regulation that you must have an EOC, in which in which to launch or start or commence and emergency operation.

This is the platform where all emergency operations will be launched
The Minister also commissioned the remodelled Maiduguri Airport Terminal emphasizing government’s commitment to complete all abandoned and pending projects before commencing new ones.
He stated, “indeed it is nice to be back here in Maiduguri to commission this terminal, the government of President Muhammed Buhari understands the importance of Maiduguri.

He understands the City , he understands the people and its environs…We have a mission to finish all uncompleted project for the good people of Borno and the national at large”
“Maiduguri airport terminal rehabilitation commenced in 2013 and was abandoned but in the spirit of President Buhari’s leadership style, he urged the completion of all abandoned airport projects and this is one of them.

“It underscores the importance of Borno as a state in the North-East, and having been ravaged by insecurity, we give importance to this airport and many other facilities that will ensure safe and secure airport operations.

EFCC To Appeal Acquittal Of Robert Azibaola, Goodluck Jonathan's Cousin
User Avatar Forum: News

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, describes as unfortunate the acquittal of Robert Azibaola, a cousin to former president, Goodluck Jonathan, who was charged for $40 million fraud before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba.

The EFCC expresses concern that despite the weight of evidence brought before the Court and witnesses presented, Justice Dimgba held that, "the prosecution must show directly how the defendant took possession of funds and knew that it forms part of proceeds of corruption."

Invariably, the Commission's legal team will be studying the judgement thoroughly and will be taking necessary actions to appeal it as we hope that the appellate court shall view the merit of the prosecution and do justice to the case.

Rochas Okorocha: I Am Leaving N42.5b In Imo Coffers
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2019, 10:34 PM - No Replies

Outgoing Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on Monday disclosed he has kept N42.5 billion in the coffers of the state for his successor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

Okorocha stated he decided to keep such amount for the in-coming governor so that there won’t be excuses in carrying out activities of the government.

The governor, who made the disclosure while swearing-in eleven Permanent Secretaries as well as the new Accountant-Genera, Deacon Donald Igbo and the new Head of Service Mrs. Ngozi Ama Eluma, explained that N8.1billion of the money was meant for the payment of salaries and capital Projects while N5.2billion was for Pension Arrears.

He also stated N7.6billion was meant for the renovation of schools, while N21.6billion was mapped out for rural roads, totaling N42.5billion.

The governor noted further that following petitions from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftains, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC), blocked the money for the payment of arrears of Pension and others at the point of starting the payments.

Addressing the new Permanent Secretaries, the governor advised them to do their best to reposition the Civil Service system, protect the integrity of the State and shun corruption, adding that workers in the State Civil Service should put in their best in the service of their fatherland.

According to him: “Remember God in discharging your duties. Discharge your duties without fear or favor and also defend your State when the need arises.

“I gave this state my best. I will do all I can to support the incoming government. Imo State Government has kept aside a total of N4.5b for the incoming government, and for that reason, I will set up a sub-committee to make sure that the projects they are attached to, come to fruition even when I am out of office or when I will not be available because government is a continuum”.

He continued: “The breakdown of these funds are as follows: N8.1b that came into Imo State offers from both State and LG, from FAAC, that money has not been expended as not even one naira has been taken away from it and the money is in Zenith Bank and has not been touched. The second money is N5.2bn in Access Bank, the remnant of the Paris Club fund, not one naira has been removed from it.

“The third fund is N7.6b, money that came from UBEC. Imo State has paid a total of N3.8b counterpart fund and UBEC has brought in their N3.8b. That gave us N7.6 billion.

“That money is intact and not one naira has been removed from it. The fourth fund is the RAMP fund of $60m representing N21.6b and is also in Imo State Government’s account.

“It is with First Bank. The money is also here in Imo State and no one naira has been touched.”

He added: “If you total N8.1b plus N5.2b, N7.6b, and N21.6b, you have a total of N42.6b which I will be handing over to Emeka Ihedioha led government as from the 29th of May, 2019.

“How is this money meant to be expended? I want to put it succinctly clear. The N8.1b naira from FAAC usually will cover the cost of salaries and capital projects.

“This government is expected to spend this N8.1b naira for the payment of salaries for May and also for the payment of other Contractual obligations as may be deemed fit.”

The new Permanent Secretaries were: Mr. Donald .N. Igbo, Mrs. Edith Chioma Ekenze, Mr. Elias Amuche Anyanwu, Mr. Justus Oguoma, Rev. Reginald Oguike, and Mr. Benjamin Nnamadu.

Others were Mrs. Patricia Atuechi Elebiri, Engr. George Ejiogu, Mrs. Patricia Uche Ezeonyeachi, Mrs. Ngozi Bernadine and Mrs. Meg. Obi.

Moment Blessing Okoro pleads in tears as she's arrested and handcuffed for claiming someone's house as hers (video)

'Breakup or Makeup' founder, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO has been arrested after she tried to pass off someone else's house as hers and took a photo in front of it.

On the day she turned 30, Blessing celebrated her birthday bash across three Nigerian states - Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. She also unveiled a new 7-bedroom duplex which she claimed she built (read here).

But the owner of the house, Onye Eze, an Igbo business man based in China, got wind of her deception and exposed her online. Yet Blessing kept insisting the house was hers and she shared the plan of a house as proof. She also shared a video of the house to try to salvage her reputation. Then, this morning she shared a photo of herself dressed in her nightwear in front of the house.

Unfortunately for Blessing, she went too far this time with the scam as she was arrested and was forced to confess.

In a video showing her arrest, the BOM founder can be seen crying and begging for forgiveness as she was led out in handcuffs. She confessed that the house belongs to Onye Eze and not to her as she claimed.

Below is the video.

Bridge Leading To Rochas Okorocha’s Village Collapses For The Third Time
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2019, 06:22 PM - Replies (1)

A bridge leading straight to Ogboko, which is Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha’s village, has caved in for the third time.

The bridge referred to as Mgbee bridge, connects Orlu to Ideato-North and South local government areas of the state. Rochas Okorocha’s village, Ogboko, is in Ideato-South local government area.

The bridge leads to Governor Okorocha’s village, Ogboko, and he plies that bridge always.

A portion of the bridge caved in, leading to the closure of that section of the bridge. Motorists now use one lane due to the danger posed by the collapsed portion of the bridge.

That collapsed portion has been repaired two times. The bridge caved in shortly after use. It has collapsed again, as Okorocha is about to leave office.

The opening is very dangerous and nothing has been done to it. From all indications, a terribly poor job was done on the other two occasions that the bridge was repaired.

Now that Okorocha is leaving office without fixing a bridge that leads to his own village, who will come to the rescue of Ideato North and South people of the state who are the ones worse hit by the neglect?

9th Assembly: Anxiety In Lawan, Ndume’s Camps Over PDP, Goje
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2019, 06:20 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Chukwu David Abuja

There is anxiety within the ranks of the two major contenders to the 9th Senate Presidency, Senators Ahmad Lawan and Ali Ndume, over the unusual calmness of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators-elect and Senator Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe), New Telegraph has learnt

It was also learnt that the Thursday’s Supreme Court judgement, which voided all the votes cast for the APC in Zamfara State, while declaring the opposition PDP winner in virtually all the elective positions in the last general election, has sent jitters to the camp of Lawan and Ndume.

Senators, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said that the decision of the apex court, which now weakens the numerical strength of the ruling party in the National Assembly, has further put the camps of the two contenders in a more precarious situation.

On why the silence of the PDP senators-elect is a source of concern to Lawan and Ndume, one of the senators noted that Lawan’s camp in particular is worried because of the rumour that the opposition party is backing Goje, who has refused to make any public utterance to confirm whether or not he is contesting.

“Lawan’s camp is very apprehensive as a result of the silence maintained by the PDP senators. The camp is also worried that Goje has decided to keep everybody in the dark as to whether or not he is vying for the office of the Senate President.

“You know that if you have an enemy you are fighting and he makes some statements about his strategy and tactics, you know how to prepare and face him better. But in this case, there have been serious speculation that Goje is going to contest. We even heard that he was going to declare his interest publicly three weeks ago, but as we speak, he has not uttered a word publicly in that regard.

“So, to respond to your question, I am certain that there is a level of apprehension in the camp of Lawan. For Ndume, he may not be as worried as Lawan because Nigerians, particularly political analysts, don’t believe that he will be in the race to the end,” the source said.
However, another source hinted that Ndume was not joking over his publicly declared ambition to become the next President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, stressing that his camp was as concerned as the Lawan’s.

“The little I know about Senator Ndume is different from what people think. The Ndume I know is a dogged fighter. I can tell you that he is not joking, and he has been reaching out to his colleagues for support. So, he may spring surprises on the day of the election,” the source stated.

On how the Supreme Court judgement on Zamfara will affect the election of the leadership of the 9th Senate, sources close to the apex legislative chamber, told our correspondent that politics is a game of number, and that one number can make a lot of difference, particularly in an election where only a simple majority is required, such as the election of National Assembly leadership.

They are of the opinion that the appreciation of PDP’s numerical strength in both chambers of the National Assembly while the APC diminished would make a lot of impact in the election of the presiding officers of the apex parliament in the next two weeks.

One of them said: “You know that before the judgement of the Supreme Court on Zamfara last Thursday, the APC had 65 senators-elect while the PDP had 41. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) produced one senator. But now, after the judgement, APC went down by three, which the PDP gained and now has 44 members while the APC has 62.

“So, if the PDP is going to field a candidate for the Senate Presidency, they need to get only 11 members of the APC to have 55 out of 109 members of the Senate to secure victory. If APC has two candidates, it further makes it easier for the PDP.

“In case the PDP as a party decides to support Danjuma Goje as being insinuated, it means that Goje’s victory will be made easy because the rumour is that the PDP will give him block votes, in addition to his own APC supporters.

“So, with this scenario playing out, it is only natural that Ndume and Lawan will be jittery because politics is a game of number. And in a situation where only a simple majority is required for victory, one is definitely a great number,” the source said.
