Members of the Joint Aviation Unions, who had embarked on industrial action on Wednesday to press home their demands, have reached agreement with the Federal Government and called off the strike.

The unions are the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) and Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP).
They are demanding among other things the review of the staff condition of service, returning to the original organogram of NCAA and inauguration of the board of the authority.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the leadership of the unions went into closed-door meeting with the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, at about 6:00 p.m.
At the end of the meeting that lasted for about three hours, agreement was signed to resolve the issues amicably.
The National of President of ATSSSAN, Mr Illistrus Ahmadu, who spoke on behalf of the unions said that agreements were reached with the minister who promised to look into demands.

He said that the minister had promised to look into their demands with the view to addressing them as quickly as possible.
“On the condition of service, he promised to personally visit the National Salaries and Wages Commission to push for its approval.
“He has also assured us of the government’s readiness to constitute committee to look into the issue of organogram within seven days.

“We are going back to Lagos tomorrow to inform our people of the agreement we have reached and call off the strike,” he said.
The Minister, Sirika also said that he had promised to look into all the demand put forward by the union. Sirika expressed his commitment to ensuring that all issues were resolved as soon as possible.
He said the issue of non-conformity with the act on the appointment of the board for NCAA would be looked into to ensure that the board was constituted.

“On the condition of service which is outside the purview of the ministry, I have volunteered to go my self to salaries and wages to try to hasten the process.
“On the issue of organogram which is the crux of the matter, we have agreed to set up a committee to work out the best acceptable way to all of us.

“The committee will not be lopsided, we will have them in the committee so that we can look it because there some things that went wrong,” he said.

Industry hails Aero’s doggedness at 60 as Regulator commends airlines books, operations

INDUSTRY players, former managing directors and staff paid tribute to Aero Contractors today as the airline clocked a milestone 60 years with a major shareholder of the company Dr. Mrs. Cecilia Ibru hailing the airlines dogged fight back into reckoning.

The airline marked its 60 anniversary as industry players showered the airline with encomiums with the industry regulator Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA) painting a positive picture on the airline’s books and operations
Managing Director of Aero Contractors, Captain Ado Sanusi who relayed the story of the airline’s journey to where they are presently likened the Aero story to the story of human existence as despite its challenges it was able to come out on top.

He explained that the current management was doing its best to reposition Aero for sustained operations and profitability as Aero has had to make hard choices to surmount some of its challenges.

” it is my sincere pleasure to inform you all that like a Phoenix, Aero has risen from its hard times. Our individual and collective sacrifices, resilience and insistence that this airline is lifted back up is paying off and yielding visible results”

Dr. Cecilia Ibru who congratulated the airline for its achievement, particularly congratulated the junior. Staff of the company who stayed all through the airline’s trying period, even when it looked like all hope was gone.

“Right now Aero is improving on its technical services, passenger services and have gone a long way with its numbers as the managing director had said. I want to however congratulate the airline, particularly, it’s junior staff who stayed, most of our smile staff left for other airlines but it is important to note the junior staff who held fast.

“Aero is not a vindictive airline and so when they return, they will come back; we will take them back. Forme, the C-Checks, the passenger increase, increase in fleet size and capacity has shown an increase in trajectory. When we recover we must forgive those who sent us to the pits.

Former Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren in his submission said Aero in 60years of carrying millions of passengers has done so with zero accidents and loss of life.

Demuren however sounded caution and advised the airline to make corporate governance their key survival word. He also told the managing director that transparency, accountability must be their watch word.
” 60years of carrying millions of passengers wth zero accidents, if you google Aero, you will see that they have never had any commercial crash with loss of life.

“You(Aero) have developed a cadre of workforce for the aviation industry in 60 years and only Nigeria Airways surpasses you in that regard…You have developed an enviable in-house maintenance Organisation. They are now maintaining the 737 in the country…
On the NCAA’ s report on Aero, Director General of the agency represented by Director of Air Transport Regulation (DATR), Group Captain (Rtd.)Edem Oyo-Ita said it was a positive one for the airline.

” The report is a good one. We have observed present management of Aero in the past few years, and anytime we want airlines to do anything as far as regulation is concerned, Aero is one of the first. From our observations Aero is on the right track and the financial health of Aero is on the green. Salaries are being paid, contractors and other service providers are being paid and so we encourage Aero,” he said.

Aero also had at the celebrations, former managing directors Captain Dapo Olumide and Captain Akin George, managing Director of Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO), Mr. Basil Agboarumi, Managing Director of Nahocaviance, Mrs. Tokunbo Fagbemi among others.

Minister storms Kano, inaugurates new GAT, says new Makia Terminal is 90% ready

MINISTER of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, after inspection of the of the new Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Kano terminal has declared it 90% complete and soon to be commissioned and put to use.

This is just as he inaugurated the new General Aviation Terminal at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport executed by FAAN as he continued his tour across airports in the country to inaugurate projects inherited, initiated and executed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration between 2015 and 2019.

MAKIA is one of the four airports terminals being built where the Chinese EXIM Bank invested US$500 Million with US$100 Million counterpart funding from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Already the Port Harcourt International Airport, (PHIA), Omagwa and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport have been delivered as world-class terminals and put to use and soon, the other two, Lagos and Kano would be delivered.

Sirika disclosed this while inaugurating some projects executed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and other agencies on Tuesday in Kano expressing joy that Federal Government has completed 134 of 157 projects initiated and executed.

“Kano is part of 157 projects initiated and undertaken by the government in aviation sector between 2015 and 2019. Out of these 157 projects, 134 had been completed 100 per cent.

“Some of them were inherited projects that we finished and most of them were new projects that we started and completed by the grace of God 100 per cent.

“The remaining balance are in excess or most of them are in excess of 50 per cent completion and very few of them below 50 per cent completion.

“We are in Kano today because in Kano we have done a lot. Few of them for example under NiMet, we have commissioned the regional office which Will serve the seven north Western states.

The minister also inaugurated the new Regional offices of AIB and NiMet for the Northwest as well as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and communication equipment executed by NAMA at the airport.

He said, “Under AIB we have also the office which will also serve this zone and I think AIB has four offices in Lagos, Enugu, Abuja and Kano and we have commissioned that of Kano.

“Also, on the part of the NAMA, we have commissioned the DVOR which is the Doppler Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range equipment and the Instrument Landing System equipment and the radios for communication.

“These things that we do in aviation most of them are not things that the passenger or traveling public can notice and see because there are remote away from site but they make aviation very safe and secure and also in addition very precise,” he said.

The minister explained that the NAMA equipment were safety equipment that are critical to air transportation, adding that aviation was beyond terminal building.

Another 131 Nigerians to be deported from Libya today

NO fewer than 131 Nigerians would be deported into the country today from Libya for illegally entering and residing in the war-torn North African country.
The deportees are expected to land in the country at 9pm on Wednesday through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on a chartered Boeing 787-800 aircraft, belonging to Buraq Airlines with the registration number 5ADMG

A source close to one of the security agencies at the MMIA, confided in our correspondent that the stranded Nigerians would be assisted back to the country through the humanitarian efforts of International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and special funding from European Union (EU) for reintegration process for the voluntary returnees after their futile attempts cross over to Europe through Libya.

The source told our correspondent that all the security agencies at the Lagos Airport had been notified of the impending return of the Nigerians.
Some of the security agencies included – the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Aviation Security (AVSEC), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Police, Department of Security Service (DSS) and several others.

Besides, it is expected that officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) would receive the deportees on arrival in Nigeria.

FG inaugurates 10 MW IPP, other critical projects at Abuja Airport

POWER needs for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja received a boost as Federal Government on Tuesday inaugurated a 10 Megawatts (MW) Independent Power Plant (IPP) to complement power for the airport.

This is just as Government commissioned the first of its kind, Accident Rescue and Resuscitation Centre, the terminal D of the domestic wing of the airport which was rehabilitated between 2017 and 2018 as well as the fire watch tower for the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and other projects.

Inaugurating the projects, Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, who is currently inspecting airport facilities across the country, emphasized the significance of the projects especially the Power Plant stating that it is a response to the deficiency identified with the new international terminal of the airport.

He explained that the new terminal meant additional power need for the airport, adding that the government decided to engage the independent power provider to address the challenge.
“It is very significant that we commission this project now because immediately we took over office, Mr president directed that we must complete all ongoing projects including Abuja airport.

“There was a lot of planning deficiencies identified with the new terminal because they didn’t take into cognizance the issue of power deficiency. In response to address this deficiency, we commenced this project amongst many others.

“This independent power plant is part of the deficiency of the airport that has been rectified just now,” he said.
Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Mr Rabiu Yadudu, who spoke on the project said the expansion of the airport and the completion of the new terminal came with the demand for additional power supply, adding that this power plant had commensurate capacity with the airport facility.

“In the light of the very low power capacity in the country, FAAN decided to provide this 10 megawatts IPP facility to meet up with the power supply that is needed in this airport.

“This appropriately aligns with the federal government’s plan in decentralizing power supply aimed at attracting private sector investments in ensuring reliable and adequate power supply to consumers.

“This is also in fulfillment of our promise to the stakeholders to ensure an efficient and safe airport operations,” he said.
Among the projects inaugurated by the minister, is the Accident Rescue and Resuscitation Centre which was the first of its kind in the airport.

Sirika also officially inaugurated the terminal D of the domestic wing of the airport which was rehabilitated between 2017 and 2018 as well as the fire watch tower for the General Aviation Terminal (GAT).

Also inaugurated was the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Central Store at the upper Air Hydrogen Shed Premises.

Tonto Dikeh has thrown a jab at her ex-husband again.

The mother-of-one shared a photoshopped image of her getting married to Bobrisky then included a caption that mocked her ex-husband, Olakunle Oladunni Churchill.

"The wedding I didn't pay for," the caption reads in part, adding, "Bob with you atleast I know say I no go spend one naria to marry you!!! #Mymoneysaved"

Recall that Tonto Dikeh revealed that she was the one who sponsored her wedding to Churchill and paid for everything down to her groom's shoes. Churchill, while reacting to this, said what they had wasn't exactly a wedding but a traditional introduction to make things official since Tonto was already pregnant. But he didn't deny that she paid for it.

Buhari Closing Remarks At The Valedictory Session For Members Of FEC (2015-2019)
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-23-2019, 04:03 AM - No Replies

CLOSING REMARKS BY H.E. PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI AT THE VALEDICTORY SESSION FOR MEMBERS OF THE FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (2015 – 2019) AT THE STATE HOUSE COUNCIL CHAMBER ON 22ND MAY, 2019.

Today’s Federal Executive Council meeting is the last time we will meet as a cabinet before the commencement of the second and final term of this Administration.

2. Our first meeting in this chamber was in November 2015. Over the past three and a half years, we worked together to deliver our campaign promises. I strongly believe that it is this team work that led to the successes recorded during our first term.

3. Some of our colleagues, with whom we started this journey, unfortunately are not here to join us in celebrating our successes.

4. Specifically, I must recognise our late brother, James Ocholi SAN who passed away in a fearful motor accident with his wife, Blessing and son, Joshua only four months after being sworn in as a Minister.

5. I want us to all put him, and indeed his family, in our memory. He was a true patriot committed to our CHANGE agenda.

6. I also acknowledge the contributions of other Council members who resigned before the completion of our tenure to pursue other opportunities.

7. You will recall that when we started this journey, our country was facing numerous challenges.

8. We inherited a broken economy which eventually went into recession in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2016. The situation was further compounded by insecurity and massive corruption.

9. Many would have given up. Indeed, many outside commentators said our situation was well nigh hopeless. However, we all came together and pushed forward to deliver our campaign promise to rescue our country from its parlous state.

10. Although we all had a common vision, we frequently had heated debates in this room on the best way to achieve our goals. These differing views are what made the decisions we took all the more rational.

11. It is this quality that made me retain my cabinet for the full term. Each of you in this room has a unique skill and strength. We are a reflection of the Nigeria we aspire to achieve. A diverse but tolerant nation where no one is silenced and where every opinion should be heard and considered.

12. I want you all to leave this meeting proud to have served your nation to the best of your ability.

13. You should be proud to have been part of the Government that liberated the local governments previously under Boko Haram rule.

14. You should be proud to have contributed to our food security and economic diversification agenda which led to the revival of our rural agrarian economy

15. You should be proud to have been part of the team that developed the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan which led Nigeria exiting its worst recession in decades.

16. You should be proud to have introduced the social investment program that enhanced livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

17. You should be proud to have participated in settling outstanding pensions of many senior citizens abandoned by previous governments while supporting state governments to meet their salary arrears.

18. And of course, you should all be proud to have overseen the most ambitious road, rail and airport rehabilitation programs in the history of our country.

19. I want to put on record, that your achievements in the last three and a half hears has guaranteed your position in the history books of this nation. You have certainly built the foundations for an improved economy and a more purposeful government.

20. Although today is our last council meeting, I expect all of you to continue working until Tuesday, 28th May 2019 when you will officially hand over your schedules to your respective Permanent Secretaries. Your handing over letters should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

21. I want to conclude by thanking all of you for agreeing to serve our nation during these difficult times. I want to use this opportunity to recognise the silent partners to this cabinet, your spouses, families and friends, who supported you through these years.

22. I wish you the very best of luck and pray for your successes, for dear families and our for country in the years ahead.

Thank you and God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Justice Bulkachuwa withdraws from Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal

The Chairman of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has withdrawn from the tribunal. This comes after the PDP in a petition before the tribunal, asked her to withdraw herself from the tribunal on grounds that she has some affiliations with the ruling party, APC.

The PDP alleged that Justice Bulkachuwa is the wife of Mr Adamu Bulkachuwa a prominent card-carrying member of the All Progressive Congress and Senator-elect for Bauchi north senatorial district which is a political party involved in the suit.

Announcing her withdrawal from the five-member panel of the presidential election petitions tribunal, Justice Bulkachuwa said

Quote:“I have allowed the ruling on the application urging me to recuse my membership of the tribunal to test the position of the law. Now that the application has been dismissed on account of incompetence, I hereby announce my withdrawal from the panel. The remaining four members of the panel would remain while step would be taken to appoint my replacement.’’

Two siblings die in their shop after inhaling generator fumes

Two siblings have died after inhaling generator fumes while passing the night at their shop.

Michael, aged 21 and Paul, aged 19, were found lying dead on Tuesday morning, May 21, 2019.

The brothers were known to sleep in their shop at Ojota, Lagos, and were usually among the first to open every day. However, they delayed in opening their shop yesterday and a concerned neighbour called their phones only to hear them ringing inside the closed shop.

At this point, the neighbour got worried and raised alarm, causing people to gather and forcefully break into the shop.

The brothers were seen lying lifeless with a white substance around their mouth and head.

At first, suicide was suspected but preliminary police investigations determined that they were choked with the carbon monoxide from a running generating set inside the shop, Guardian Nigeria reports.

The neighbour who discovered them dismissed reports of carbon monoxide poisoning and pointed out that he suspected foul play.

He told the publication: "This is not the first time they are using this generator though it is quite new. The generator supplies light to the whole house and we usually put it on when there is no power, which is almost every day. More investigations should be carried out because we are suspecting there is more to this than meets the eye. How can two whole human beings just go like that in one day? We need more light on this."

Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, says it will begin flight operations to Johannesburg, South Africa and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates next month.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, announced the new routes at the inauguration of the airline’s Board of Directors on Wednesday in Ikeja.

He said Dubai, Johannesburg, London, Houston, Guangzhou and Mumbai would soon join the airline’s international route network while plans were also on to connect more cities within Nigeria.

Onyema said the airline had so far acquired four B777 aircraft for its long-haul operations with three already delivered ahead of the international operations.

He said Air Peace had placed a firm order with Boeing for 10 brand new B737 Max 8 aircraft and that it would continue to monitor the situation based on safety concerns raised about the aircraft.

Onyema added that the airline had also placed a firm order for 10 brand new Embraer 195-E2 jets and purchase right for 20 aircraft of the same model which would be delivered by May 2020.

Onyema said Air Peace was well aware of the hostilities faced by Nigerian carriers outside the country and was bracing up for the challenge through massive investment in equipment.

He urged the Federal Government to protect Nigerian airlines from the outrageous charges being imposed on them while operating outside the country or reciprocate such charges on foreign airlines flying into Nigeria.

According to him, Air Peace has lost over N1. 2 billion in the last one year in flying to countries in the West Coast of Africa such as Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia, due to exorbitant charges.

“There is a gang up against Nigerian airlines. The Single Africa Air Transport Market (SAATM) is geared towards fleecing Nigeria and nothing more.

“The government should reciprocate these charges to also discourage them from coming into Nigeria.

“Air Peace may soon go to court to ban some airlines from operating in Nigeria if the government fails to do something about this exploitation and unhealthy competition,” he said.

Onyema maintained that Air Peace was poised to dominate the African airspace and also compete with the legacy airlines following the acquisition of more aircraft for its flight services.

“The reason I started Air Peace was to create employment opportunities for Nigerians and help in national development because I know that all the violence and security challenges we are facing will reduce if our youths are positively engaged.

“I enjoin all Nigerians with means to invest in the country and help to create jobs to complement the efforts of the government,” he said.

NAN reports that the nine board members are Mr Allen Onyema, his wife Alice, Chief Emeka Ngige (SAN), Mr Mutiu Summonu, Mrs Eka Okoro, Mr Benjamin Adeyileka, Mr Mohammed Danjuma, Mrs Ejiro Eghagha and Mrs Oluwatoyin Olajide.

Teenage boys who stabbed boy, 16, then did a Snapchat video of him dying have been jailed for 71 years

Four boys have been sentenced to a total of 71 years in jail for stabbing a 16-year-old schoolboy then filming him as he lay dying.

Cemeren Yilmaz, 16, was murdered on the street in Bedford last September by three members of a rival gang (Black Tom) and their cousin. Cemeren was once associated with the Black Tom gang but after a fallout with some of its members switched to the rival "London Road" gang. This caused bad blood between both groups.

On the day of the attack, the schoolboy was chased down by the group before being bludgeoned with a hammer and stabbed. As he bled to death, one of the boys filmed and the footage was shared to Snapchat. Cemeren, who suffered 50 separate injuries and massive internal damage, died in hospital the following day.

Jacob Morgan, 15, Ramon Djauna, 15, Caleb Brown, now 16, and Aaron Miller, now 20, who were responsible for his murder were sentenced yesterday.

The court heard the stab wound inflicted on Cemeren had travelled almost through his body. He had suffered a fractured skull and brain damage and had gone into cardiac arrest twice.

Earlier this year, it was revealed during the trial at St Albans Crown Court that Cemeren had told his brother just weeks before his death that he suspected he'd be attacked by rival gang members because of the hostility between the two gangs in Bedford. Cemeren had told his brother that if the rival gang got hold of him it would "end badly" because they "have no mercy".

Miller, 20, was jailed for a minimum of 21 years. Brown and Djuana were both sentenced to a minimum term of 17 years, and Morgan was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years after being found guilty at St Alban’s Crown Court.

A man woke up after a night of heavy drinking to find that his penis had been cut off.

Tan Nan, 44, went out with his friends in Hunan, China, and fell asleep after consuming so much alcohol. When he woke in the morning, the first thing he felt was a sharp pain. When he checked, he saw his male member has been chopped off and was hanging by a "bit of skin". He was also bleeding profusely.

He rushed to various hospitals for help but they all turned him away as they were unable to complete such an operation. Finally, Changsha Hospital took him in and he was treated.

His penis was successfully reattached during a surgery that lasted 7 hours.

Police are now investigating the incident as the victim has no idea who attacked him.

The Management of Nigeria’s oil and gas logistics giant, Intels Nigeria Limited, has countered claims of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as it stated that they are not indebted to the agency but are owed more than $750 million.

The Management of Intels who stated that they are not indebted to the NPA but are rather owed more than US$750 million; added that while they are open to an amicable resolution of the contract dispute with NPA, they are also willing to proceed in all appropriate directions to protect its interests and its 5,000 employees. The statement issued on Tuesday which was in response to the termination of its boats pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement by NPA, reads in part;

“Intels reiterates that, overall, it is not in any way indebted to NPA, but it is instead a creditor of NPA for an amount exceeding US$ 750 million against the financing granted by Intels and associated entities to NPA over time. Intels hopes that the undergoing amicable procedure with NPA may result in clarifications between the parties and a return to normal operations, but it also reaffirms its willingness to proceed in all appropriate directions to protect its own interests, in line with the contractual agreement, and all valid receivable claims against NPA, for the protection of its corporate interests, its 5,000 Nigerian employees and shareholders and those who have been operating in the Country for over 40 years.”

 John Owen Nwachukwu

A presidential directive has been issued for the immediate clearing up of the Apapa gridlock and the restoration of law and order to the Apapa Port and its environs within two weeks.

Laolu Akande, a Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice President), made this known in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
The directive mandates the immediate removal of all trucks from the bridges and roads within Apapa and all adjoining streets leading into the Apapa axis.

To facilitate this important assignment, operators of trucks and tankers have also been directed to vacate the Port access roads within the next 72 hours.

This directive follows an emergency meeting convened by President Muhammadu Buhari and chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, on the 25th of April, 2019.
The meeting proffered lasting solutions to the gridlock around the Lagos Ports, as the traffic congestion has continued to restrict all operations and livelihood in the area.

At the meeting were key heads and representatives of relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, including the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola; Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu; representative of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral B.E.E Ibe-Enwo; Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Salaam Taiwo Olufemi; and the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Sokonte Davies, among others.

Consequently, a Presidential Taskforce, chaired by Vice President Osinbajo was established to restore law and order to the area within two weeks.

The Taskforce, which will report directly to the President, has included on its Terms of Reference: the development of an efficient and effective management plan for the entire port area traffic, including the cargo, fuel distribution and business district traffic; enforcing the permanent removal of all stationary trucks on the highway, and the development of an effective manual truck call-up system, pending the introduction of the electronic truck call-up system. It also includes the implementation of a workable Empty Container Return and Export Container Truck Handling Policy, amongst others.
Members of the taskforce include: Mr. Kayode Opeifa, former Commissioner of Transport in Lagos State, as the Executive Vice Chairman; a representative of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC); the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).

Other members include: a special unit of the Nigeria Police Force led by a Commissioner of Police, representatives of the Truck Transport Union, the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and other relevant MDAs.

The Nigerian Navy and all other military formations have also been mandated to withdraw from traffic management duties in and around the Apapa axis, while military and paramilitary checkpoints in front of the ports and environs are to be dismantled.

In addition, LASTMA has been authorised to move into Apapa as the lead traffic management agency, while the NPA is to commence the immediate use of the Lilypond Terminal and Trailer Park A as a truck transit park. The directive further mandates compliance by all security personnel and MDAs, while heads of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, and all other security operatives are to ensure their officers’ adherence to the new directives.

The Senatorial candidate of the Accord Party (AP)for Abia North District in the just-concluded 2019 general election and now, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Onyekachi Iheme, has slammed the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his comment on the quest for the Igbo extraction to produce next Nigeria president in 2023.

DAILY POST had reported that Amaechi had declared that Igbo have no chance of taking over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Amaechi said this was simply because, the South East geo-political zone voted against Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

Iheme, while reacting to the minister’s statement, in an interview with newsmen, Tuesday, explained that South East, as integral part of the country got 25 per cent votes for the President during election, wondering why the federal government had continued to marginalize Igbos despite the performances of the APC in the South East.

According to him, “It is not true to say, that Ndigbo did not vote or support APC. Because, if you look at the performances of the party in the last 2019 election, you can bear me witness that President Buhari, like never before, polled the required 25 per cent votes needed in all the five eastern states put together. And he got more votes in Abia and Imo States.

“The Ndigbo, like every other tribe in this country who believed in constitutional democracy and who are also members of the governing party (APC), are entitled and have every rights to be considered for the Presidency of this country come 2023. From all indications, Igbo man can no longer stand out. We are integral part of Nigeria. We are integral stakeholders in APC. We have asked for the position of Deputy Senate President. We have asked for the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.

“So, on what ground, the former River Governor standing on, to say Ndigbo have no chances of producing President in 2023 presidential election. I think, Amaechi is speaking for himself and it is unfortunately. APC, is a party that respect agreement. The primary reason we rally-rounded President, Buhari, was because, we know that equity and justice have been the bedrock of the zoning arrangement that the APC had relying on.

“Buhari is completing his eight years in office by 2023, and naturally, it is expected that the presidential seat of Nigeria should be rotated, go the South east.

Because, the vice President is from South West. And the South West had also produced the leader of the party. The South South had equally produced the national chairman of APC. There is nothing else for the Igbo man, other than to be allowed and to be zoned the Presidential ticket to Igbo man in 2023.”

Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, has filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos against the Minister of Finance, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, in order to stop the allocation of public funds running into trillions of naira to unelected local government council officials.

According to Agbakoba, the basis of the case is that Section 7(1) of the 1999 constitution guarantees a system of democratically elected government councils.

He argued that many local government council officials in Nigeria are never elected and act unconstitutionally.

Therefore, Agbakoba said allocation of public funds to them is a violation of the constitution, as there is collusion with state governments in the use of trillions of naira of public funds.
The case raises concern that unelected persons have unimpeded access to huge monthly allocations that are actually funds intended for democratically elected local government councils as guaranteed by Section 7 of the constitution.

Agbakoba noted that Nigeria operates democratically elected governments at all levels.

“The current situation where most of the 774 local governments are unelected is not only unconstitutional but meant no development at the local government level,” he said.

Agbakoba also noted that corruption is widespread in Nigeria because unelected persons that are not accountable to the electorate have received trillions of naira of public funds.

NNPC Remits N1.26 Trillion To Federation Account
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2019, 11:54 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said it met its financial obligations to the Federation Account last year by remitting N1.26 trillion as against the N1.22 trillion projected in the 2018 budget, recording a surplus of N41billion.

The Managing Director, NNPC Capital, Mr. Godwin Okonkwo, disclosed this during a presentation to the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on the Investigation of the Non-Remittances of Funds to the Federation Account by the corporation between July 2017 and December 2018 at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

A statement by NNPC explained that Okonkwo represented Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru. It said though 2.3million barrels per day (mbpd) was proposed in the 2018 budget, national daily production for the period under review oscillated between 1.9mbpd to 1.89mbpd.

Baru listed the two sources of inflows into the Federation Account from the NNPC to include equity crude oil sales less cost of recovery from the Joint Venture cash call arrears and domestic crude less cost recovery, adding that the JV cash call arrears were being efficiently managed now to ensure steady inflows to the Federation Account.

Baru said: “The current management of NNPC ensures that it contributes to the cost of the production of crude oil and gas in the upstream sector to avoid a repeat of the mistakes of the past. If we had made cash call payments in the past, the arrears that we are liquidating now would not have arisen. The current situation creates a win-win scenario for the country. The NNPC is strategically saving for the rainy day to make a better future for all of us by liquidating the arrears.”

He noted that the corporation on a regular and sustained basis balanced up with the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and the JV cash calls in order to make sure that the future generations do not suffer from the legacy debt. He dismissed the allegations of Commissioners of Finance of under-remittances by the Corporation, adding that the NNPC was a going concern that met financial obligations to its various stakeholders.

2023 Presidency May Set Tinubu, Osinbajo Apart

* VP Also Aiming To Succeed Buhari

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

The ambition of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 may clash with the aspiration of his protégé, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also nursing the same ambition, Daily Independent has gathered.

While it is still believed that Tinubu’s presidential ambition is still a rumour as he has not publicly said declared, Dele Momodu, a former presidential candidate and publisher of Ovation International Magazine, said Tinubu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia with President Buhari, has already began the race for the highest office in the land.

Momodu, who tweeted a picture of Tinubu in Saudi Arabia, wrote, “Nigeria’s next President in 2023? The race has started. Best wishes to one of Nigeria’s most influential politicians ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU”.

Since Momodu’s post, many Nigerians believe that the likelihood that Tinubu will run for the presidency in 2023 is very high especially given the fact that the position will likely be zoned to the South after the completion of the North’s eight years.

However, speaking with Daily Independent on the development, a credible source in APC said while it is true that Tinubu will throw his hat in the ring in 2023, his ambition may clash with that of Osinbajo, who also believes that President Buhari may anoint him as successor in order to continue the programmes of the Buhari administration.

He said aside serving in acting capacity when President Buhari was abroad on medical grounds, Osinbajo’s commitment, loyalty and visits to markets nationwide to promote the TraderMoni scheme has endeared him to many Nigerians who believe he has what it takes to succeed the president in 2023.

According to him, the only way there may not be a clash between the duo is if Osinbajo declines pressure to contest due to his loyalty to Tinubu, adding that Tinubu will never sacrifice his ambition for Osinbajo.

“Yes, I think the coast is becoming clearer by the day on whether Tinubu will contest for the presidency or not. At least, Dele Momodu is an authority in the media profession and he is very close to Tinubu. Don’t forget that it was Dele Momodu that first hinted Nigerians that Saraki will likely contest for the 2019 presidential election, which he did but lost in the primary.

“One thing I know is that the vice president is also nursing the ambition. I don’t know the mind of the president but naturally, he will want Osinbajo to succeed him having understudied him and demonstrated that he is a loyal, honest and trustworthy helper.

“One thing is clear. The Osinbajo of today is no longer the one that was nominated four years ago when he had no political experience aside serving as Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice under Tinubu. He is now a full-fledged politician and that could be seen in the way he ensured that Governor Ibikunle Amosun was humbled in Ogun governorship election.

“Tinubu may be popular in the South-West where he holds the ace but Osinbajo is more popular across Nigeria, especially with the masses given the manner he handled the TraderMoni scheme. So, it will be interesting times ahead”, he said.

In a related development, Afenifere, Yoruba socio-political organisation on Tuesday said the agitation for which region will produce the president will be greatly reduced if Nigeria is restructured and regions are allowed to develop at their pace.

Yinka Odumakin, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, said while it is normal to zone the presidency to the South after the completion of the North’s eight years reign, nothing will be achieved with the current structure of the country, even if the presidency is zoned to regions on a monthly basis.

“For us, the most fundamental issue is that Nigeria should go back to proper and true federalism. If we go back to true federalism where every region can manage their affairs, the struggle and agitation for where the president comes from will be less.

“People have forgotten that in the First Republic, Ahmadu Bello chose to be the Premier of the Northern region, instead of becoming Prime Minister of Nigeria.

“He preferred his lieutenant, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, to be Prime Minister of Nigeria, while he as leader, chose to be Premier of the Northern region because that is where the powers are. The reason for all these noise about which zone should produce the president is because Abuja has taken over virtually every area of our life.

“In terms of rotating the presidency, the normal thing is that after Buhari’s eight years, the presidency should come to the South but rotating the presidency every week, if we don’t do the right thing in the proper structure, the presidency will only benefit whoever is the president and his cronies just as we are doing now.

“What special benefit did eight years of Obasanjo brought to Yoruba? What special benefit did six years of Goodluck Jonathan bring to the Ijaws? The north has ruled Nigeria more than any section of the country and based on all indices today, the North is the worse in everything- poverty, children out of schools and so on. So, what we are doing now cannot work for anybody”.

Cooking Gas Consumers Will No Longer Own Cylinders – FG

The Federal Government says it is coming up with a policy that would remove the ownership of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders from consumers.

Igbere TV reports that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, made this disclosure on Tuesday.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on LPG penetration in Abuja, Kachikwu said the policy would require that the ownership of the cylinders rests strictly with the dealers and distributors.

He said this was part of strategy to deepen the penetration of LPG, also known as cooking gas and address issues of safety.

Igbere TV reports that Kachikwu also disclosed that the Federal Government had reached an agreement with two original cylinder manufacturers to deliver 600,000 cylinders to LPG distributors on credit, with a pre-payment period of 18 months.

He said the Federal Government would in the next couple of days commence the clampdown of illegal roadside LPG dealers, while he directed all skid operators of LPG to immediately convert their outlets to micro distribution centres before the enforcement begins.

She was finally healthy enough to play this past season, but the NCAA originally didn’t grant her a sixth year of eligibility. Florida appealed in January, and the NCAA reconsidered its decision and allowed her to play. The Florida graduate discussed with the new Gators coaching staff, which came in before the 2017-18 season, that she was going to transfer if granted another year of eligibility. By the time the appeal came through, it was too late for her to transfer and play immediately. After the season ended, the Gators put together another appeal to get the 5-foot-8 guard a seventh year and it was finally approved. The Chicago Blackhawks have dug themselves a deep hole when it comes to playoff positioning, but they hope there is still time to make a move. The way the Blackhawks have played of late sure hasn’t hurt. The Blackhawks will enter Tuesday’s Winter Classic against the Boston Bruins having won five of their last six games. They just kept playing. The attitude was great throughout as good as you could expect but even within the games.“We’d fall behind 2-0, 3-0, 4-0, which no one wants to be in that situation, but most nights, we battled back and the commitment and work ethic and energy and positivity has been really great. That says a lot about the group and that’s part of why we’ve been able not only to play better lately but get some more results and that gives us some positive energy coming into this event and it’s a lot easier to enjoy something like this when we come in with some wins.”Cam Ward will start in goal for Chicago as the Blackhawks continue to play without injured starter Corey Crawford. The Bruins, meanwhile, enter Tuesday’s game having won six of their past 10 games and are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.Boston’s Brad Marchand will likely be a game-day decision as to whether he plays against the Blackhawks after he missed Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury. But Marchand was a full participant in Monday’s practice in South Bend, Ind., and said he hopes he can play on Tuesday.Asked how important it was that he play in the annual outdoor game, Marchand turned to sarcasm.“It’s so important that I faked that I was hurt last game,” Marchand joked with reporters on Monday Womens Jason Demers Jersey , according to the Boston Herald. “Pretty important.”Although it’s just another game on the schedule, Marchand said players don’t treat the Winter Classic that way.“It’s an event,” Marchand said, according to the Herald. “At the end of the day, it’s just another game in the regular season, but I think it’s the event, the experience of the whole thing. . . . It’s the whole experience that you miss out on. At the end of the day, it is just two points, but it’s a lot more than that for family and friends.”

I take pride in playing for the Sens and playing this game at home after everything I’ve gone through since the first day of camp. It means a lot to me.”The Hurricanes had a fast start, scoring on two of their first three shots less than five minutes into the game.Faulk opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 1:12 of the first period with a point shot that beat Hogberg. Then, at 4:28, McGinn scored a short-handed goal as he slid a backhand through Hogberg’s legs on a breakaway.“We’re not doing enough of the little things to win right now and it sucks,” said Senators forward Chris Tierney, who had two assists.“We didn’t start well and that hurt us. You’ve got to find a way to take them out of it, and we did that by getting one in the first.”Andreas Athanasiou scored the game-winner at 4:08 of the third period.Luke Glendening had a goal and an assist, Nick Jensen had two assists and Dylan Larkin also had a goal for Detroit.“Jimmy was excellent when he needed to be,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. “We competed hard for sure.”Viktor Arvidsson and P.K. NEWARK Tyler Johnson Jersey , N.J. (AP) — Instead of getting down after giving up an embarrassing, early bad-hop goal from center ice, New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider responded with what might have been his best game of the season.Schneider made 45 saves in stonewalling the Buffalo Sabres and got the benefit of having a game-tying, third-period tally nullified for goaltender interference in leading the Devils to a 3-1 victory on Monday night.“I can’t let one bad goal sink you for the rest of the game,” Schneider said. “It was more about fighting my way back and keeping us in the game so that’s what kind of motivated me.”Blake Coleman and Pavel Zacha scored power-play goals as New Jersey won its second straight and for the fourth time in 14 games (4-9-1). Miles Wood added an empty-net goal on a length-of-the-ice shot. The biggest play in this game was the referee’s decision with 13:36 to play to disallow what would have been Sam Reinhart’s second goal of the game.Reinhart seemingly tied the game, putting the rebound of a Jeff Skinner shot into an open net with Schneider on the ice.The Devils didn’t take long to challenge, contending Evan Rodrigues interfered with Schneider, although it seemed New Jersey defenseman Andy Greene was battling with the Buffalo center in the crease.“I totally disagree with it, the call,” Sabres coach Phil Housley said. “He’s (Rodrigues) got his territory in front of the goaltender. We are telling our guys to go to the net. He does the right thing and the guy backs into him. They saw it differently, but I disagree with it.”Even though he was bumped Victor Hedman Jersey , Schneider was surprised by the reversal.“Never expect it to be overturned and it was, so it’s a great reversal for us,” he said.Rodrigues seemed stumped.“I was there for five or 10 seconds and I thought I was outside the crease,” Rodrigues said. “Their guy comes and makes a little contact with me. I don’t think I went purposely backward, but there was some contact there and they made the call.”Schneider was outstanding in the final 40 minutes, stopping all 36 Buffalo shots. He stopped Skinner on a breakaway two minutes after the goaltender interference call, and also had a great stop on Tage Thompson on a blast with 2:34 to go.Zacha had broken a 1-all tie at 4:25 of the third period with a shot from the left circle past a screened Linus Ullmark, who had 18 saves.Reinhart tied the score with a goal that stunned the crowd at 7:23. The Buffalo forward flipped the puck from center ice toward Schneider and it took a bad bounce past the embarrassed goaltender.“I was trying to bounce it at the end of the shift trying to get off. I got a lucky bounce,” Reinhart said.“You never want to give up that goal, it’s just brutal and you feel bad for your teammates,” added Schneider Yanni Gourde Jersey , who earlier this season tended to let bad goals ruin his night. This time, he ruined the Sabres’ night.“It’s not a good feeling, no other way to put it,” Rodrigues said. “We did things right. We didn’t give them much. We got pucks on net. We pretty much did everything we wanted to except put the puck in the net. It seems that’s the way it has been going these days.”The Devils scored on their first shot of the game when Coleman came out of the corner on a power play and beat Ullmark in close at 1:55.NOTES: Less than 48 hours after sending F Joey Anderson to Binghamton (AHL), the Devils recalled him. He didn’t play. … Sabres recalled D Lawrence Pilut from Rochester (AHL) on Sunday. … Sabres rookie C Casey Mittelstadt, the eighth pick in the draft, was a healthy scratch. … The Devils were 0 for 13 on the power play in the last five games. … Reinhart’s 20 goals are five shy of his career best set last season.UP NEXTSabres: At Ottawa on Tuesday night.Devils: At Detroit on Friday night. TORONTO — John Tavares used to be a mainstay of the New York Islanders, eventually becoming their captain. The 28-year-old center, however, will be on the opposing team for the first time in his career Saturday night when the Islanders visit the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Scotiabank Arena.“I assume it will be strange for sure at some level,” said Tavares Auston Matthews Jersey , who signed as a free agent with the Maple Leafs during the offseason. “It’s really hard to say because I’ve never done it before.”Article continues below ...Tavares had a strong warmup for the reunion with his former team, scoring two goals Friday night when the Maple Leafs defeated the Blue Jackets 4-2 in Columbus. The Islanders also are coming off a win, overcoming 2-0 and 3-1 deficits at home to defeat the Ottawa Senators 6-3 on Friday.Tavares had 272 goals and 349 assists in 669 games with the Islanders and was their captain from 2013-18.In 38 games with Toronto, he has 26 goals, and is on a pace that would surpass his career-best 38 goals, set in 2014-15.“He’s got a stick like a crowbar,” Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said. “He’s heavy, heavy on it. He’s got elite hockey sense.”“He’s getting to the net, he’s making plays,” said Maple Leafs right winger Mitch Marner, who assisted on both goals by Tavares Friday and scored one himself. “I think everyone knew when he came here how good of a one-on-one player he was. I think when he gets it Connor Brown Jersey , it’s just for me to try to find the open space and let him go to work on the people he’s going to work on.”It figures to be an emotional night in Toronto Saturday.“You’re in one place so long and you give so much to one place,” Tavares said. “I’m sure there will be many emotions. At the same time, I have to approach it the best way I can, just like any other game. I have to do my best to help my team win and try to play my best and be as best prepared as I can.”Tavares, who grew up in the Toronto area, has been an important addition to the Maples Leafs, who have matured into Stanley Cup contenders.“Johnny meant so much to this organization and to us in the room, his friends and teammates,” Islanders left winger Anders Lee, now the team captain, told Newsday. “I think we’re all looking forward to playing the game and seeing him.”Mathew Barzal had two goals and an assist on Friday for the Islanders Frederik Andersen Jersey , who have won five of their past six games. The Maple Leafs have won five in a row.“I know he has a lot of good friends in our room,” Islanders coach Barry Trotz said. “They do have a little bit of hurt. They understand it. But they’d like to have him as a teammate and he decided he didn’t need them as teammates anymore.”The return theme works both ways. Former Maple Leafs, left winger Matt Martin and right winger Leo Komarov, both signed with the Islanders in the offseason, and former Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello will be returning to their former home rink in Toronto.Lamoriello became Islanders president of hockey operations after Tavares signed with Toronto.Maple Leafs backup goaltender Garret Sparks got the start in Columbus Friday, which will set up No. 1 Frederik Andersen for the start on Friday.Islanders goaltender Robin Lehnert stopped all 10 shots he faced after he took over in the second period from Thomas Greiss, who allowed three goals on 17 shots. The Maple Leafs and Islanders were both playing their first game since Sunday.Islanders right wingers Jordan Eberle (stiffness) and Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) did not play Friday.

Nigeria’s Manufacturing Pmi Grows To 57.8% In May 2019
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2019, 09:51 AM - No Replies

The Manufacturing PMI in the month of May stood at 57.8 index points, indicating expansion in the manufacturing sector for the twenty-sixth consecutive month. The index grew at a faster rate when compared to the index in the previous month.

Thirteen of the 14 subsectors surveyed reported growth in the review month in the following order: transportation equipment; electrical equipment; petroleum & coal products; paper products; cement; food, beverage & tobacco products; plastics & rubber products; chemical & pharmaceutical products; fabricated metal products; furniture & related products; nonmetallic mineral products; textile, apparel, leather & footwear and printing & related support activities. The primary metal subsector recorded decline in the review period.

The May 2019 PMI survey was conducted by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria during the period May 6-10, 2019. The respondents were purchasing and supply executives of manufacturing and non-manufacturing organizations in all 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Bank makes no representation regarding the individual companies, other than the information they have provided. The data contained herein further provides input for policy decisions

At 59.1 points, the production level index for the manufacturing sector grew for the twenty-seventh consecutive month in May 2019. The index indicated a faster growth in the current month when compared to its level in the month of April 2019. Eleven of the 14 manufacturing subsectors recorded an increased production level, while 3 recorded decline.

At 56.9 points, the new orders index grew for the twenty-sixth consecutive month, indicating an increase in new orders in May 2019. Eight subsectors reported growth, 1 remained unchanged, while 5 contracted in the review month.

The manufacturing supplier delivery time index stood at 58.4 points in May 2019, indicating faster supplier delivery time. The index has recorded growth for twenty-four consecutive months. Twelve of the 14 subsectors recorded improved suppliers’ delivery time, while 1 remained unchanged and 1 recorded decline in the review period.

The Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing PMI Report on businesses is based on survey responses, indicating the changes in the level of business activities in the current month compared with the preceding month. For each of the indicators measured, this report shows the diffusion index of the responses. The diffusion index is computed as the percentage of responses with positive change plus half of the percentage of those reporting no change, except for supplier delivery time, which is computed as the percentage of responses with negative change plus half of the percentage of those reporting no change. The composite PMI for the manufacturing sector is computed as the weighted average of five diffusion indices, namely: production level, level of new orders, suppliers’ delivery time, employment level and raw materials inventory/work in progress, with assigned weights of 25%, 30%, 15%, 10% and 20%, respectively. The composite PMI for the non-manufacturing sector is computed from four diffusion indices, namely: business activity, level of new orders, employment level and raw materials inventory, with equal weights of 25% each.

A composite PMI above 50 points indicates that the manufacturing/non-manufacturing economy is generally expanding, 50 points indicates no change and below 50 points indicates that it is generally contracting. The subsectors reporting growth are listed in the order of highest to lowest growth, while those reporting contractions are listed in the order of the highest to the lowest contraction.

NEW YORK (AP) — From the moment Mark Messier came to the New York Rangers in 1991 Authentic Marcus Johansson Jersey , he knew he was expected to lead the team to its first Stanley Cup championship in more than 50 years.“There was no escaping the pressure of 1940,” Messier said about the last year the Rangers had won the Cup. “Coming here and understanding what the Original Six franchise was and this history, there was no escaping it. The pressure was real, from the fans, the organization.”Messier accomplished the task in 1994 as the Rangers ended their 54-year title drought by outlasting the Vancouver Canucks in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final. Honored with a parade in the Canyon of Heroes in lower Manhattan that June, the players from that team were back at Madison Square Garden on Friday night to celebrate the 25-year anniversary.“When you are in New York, not a day goes by that you don’t run into someone that you get reminded, get smiles,” Adam Graves said before the ceremony that preceded the Rangers’ game against Carolina. “Back then you never thought you’d be impacting the way we have been, it is very special.”From general manager Neil Smith, coach Mike Keenan, to stars Messier, Brian Leetch, Mike Richter, Craig MacTavish and Stephane Matteau Michael Hutchinson Jersey Womens , each were introduced one by one to a rousing ovation. The only absences from the group were Alexander Karpovtsev, who was killed along with most of the KHL Lokomotiv team in a plane crash in 2011, and Brian Noonan, who was said to have a prior commitment.Messier said he’s been approached by countless people over since who thanked him and claimed to have witnessed the Game 7 win in New York.“I didn’t realize Madison Square Garden holds 2 million people,” he joked, “because I’ve talked to 2 million people over 25 years that were here that night. That’s been interesting. It never gets old … never get tired of speaking with people on the street or in the subway or trains, or taxi drivers that recognize the guys or myself and thank us for the Cup.”Messier is also remembered for his famous for his declaration before Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals against New Jersey when, with the Rangers trailing 3-2 in the series, he guaranteed the team would win Game 6.Messier said he was simply trying to let his teammates know he believed in the team.“I really felt we could go into New Jersey and win, and I wanted the guys to know it,” he said. “The papers the next day were what they were. It wasn’t going to motivate New Jersey any more.”Leetch said the team chuckled when they saw Messier’s Game 6 guarantee in the papers, and it didn’t change anything about their preparation for that game.“Just was kind of a light-hearted thing to remember that we’re in New York, everything gets magnified,” Leetch said. “One comment gets turned into a guarantee. It was something for a little bit that we had a laugh about”.Messier then backed up his words with a hat trick in the third period to rally the Rangers to a 4-2 win.“He’s always done things his whole career,” Leetch said. “He’s been a part of a lot of big moments and rises to occasions in big games http://www.officialdevils.com/authentic-...ood-jersey , but the fact he did that here in New York when it was on the front and back pages, we still shake our heads at it that he was the guy to do it in that game.”The Rangers then won Game 7 on Matteau’s goal in double-overtime.They lost the opening game in the championship series against the Canucks despite having a big advantage on shots, then won three straight to get to the cusp of ending their long drought before being forced to the deciding game.“I remember saying we should have won this series four straight,” Messier said. “Coming back and losing Game 5 and 6 and then we’re back in another Game 7.”Then, Messier came through again, giving the Rangers a two-goal lead that stood as the winner to deliver the franchise and the city the long-awaited title he had been brought in to get.“When Mark came across the ice to celebrate the Stanley Cup victory and handed it to me and I looked it over, the first thing that came to my mind is I can’t believe how difficult this trophy is to win,” said Keenan, who said he is doing well after his treatment for prostate cancer last year. “As now time passes, 25 years later, that endorsement of how difficult it is stands even more in my mind.”Difficult indeed, as the championship in 1994 remains the Rangers’ only title in the last 79 years. DETROIT (AP) — Johnny Gaudreau capped a memorable day with another splendid performance.Gaudreau had a goal and three assists, and the Calgary Flames rallied for a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. Earlier in the day, Gaudreau was named the NHL’s second star for the month of December — and he was part of the Pacific Division All-Star roster, which was also released Wednesday.“This was obviously a pretty wild day Nico Hischier Jersey ,” Gaudreau said. “Winning was the best part, though.”Detroit led 2-0 after one period, but the Flames came back to hand the Red Wings their sixth straight loss. Sean Monahan, TJ Brodie, Elias Lindholm and Michael Frolik also scored for Calgary.Darren Helm, Jacob de la Rose and Andreas Athanasiou scored for Detroit.Gaudreau put the Flames ahead 4-3 midway through the third with a power-play goal after a slick play by Matthew Tkachuk, who stickhandled below the goal line and then slipped a pass between goalie Jimmy Howard and the side of the net. Gaudreau was in front to tap in the puck for his 22nd goal of the season.“We knew we had to be a lot better in the second and third periods, but we have the confidence to know we could do that,” said Gaudreau, who kept right on rolling after finishing with 11 goals and 15 assists in December.Frolik scored into an empty net with 17.7 seconds remaining.“I thought we got better as it went,” Flames coach Bill Peters said. “It wasn’t a Picasso, but we’ll take the two points.”The Flames have 54 points, most in the Western Conference.Helm, who missed the previous 21 games with an upper-body injury, marked his return with a goal in the first period. He and Athanasiou came in on a 2-on-1 break. Rather than passing Dan Hamhuis Jersey Womens , Helm dragged the puck past a sliding defenseman, switched to his backhand and beat goalie Mike Smith. The Red Wings made it 2-0 on a goalmouth scramble. Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen hacked at the puck, and it bounced off de la Rose and in.Calgary rallied in the second. Monahan made it 2-1 with his 22nd goal of the season, and Brodie tied it when his routine shot from the point bounced off Howard’s glove and in with 2:01 left in the period.“It should never go in, so it’s on me,” said Howard, who is among the Atlantic Division All-Stars.Brodie’s goal started a wild stretch in which three goals were scored in just more than a minute. Athanasiou had a step on Oliver Kylington when the Calgary defenseman hooked him. Officials awarded a penalty shot that Athanasiou converted for his 14th goal of the season. The Flames quickly tied it at 3 when Lindholm beat Howard with a wrist shot on the power play with just under a minute left in the period.“You get to points where you’re fragile. We can pretend that’s not true but that’s not what happened,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. “We have control over that, have control of playing shift by shift, believing in ourselves, carrying ourselves with confidence, making the plays at the big moments instead of the other way.”Detroit’s Dylan Larkin had his 14-game point streak snapped.NOTES: The Red Wings put D Trevor Daley on injured reserve with a foot problem and recalled D Brian Lashoff from Grand Rapids of the AHL. Lashoff did not play. … Athanasiou’s goal was his 100th career point.UP NEXTFlames: At Boston on Thursday night.Red Wings: Host Nashville on Friday night.

Togolese cook seeks plea bargain in Credit Switch CEO’s murder

23-year-old Togolese cook, Sunday Anani, charged with the murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Credit Switch Ltd, Chief Opeyemi Bademosi, yesterday Tuesday May 21st, asked the Lagos state High Court in Igbosere to grant him a plea bargain agreement with the government.

Recall that 67-year-old Bademosi was stabbed to death at his home in Parkview estate, Lagos state in October last year. Anani fled the scene of the incident and was later arrested in his hideout in Ondo state.

At the commencement of proceedings on Tuesday, Anani’s counsel, the Director of the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), Mrs Aderenra Adeyemi, informed the court of his decision to a plea bargain. Adeyemi told Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile that Anani would be opting for a plea bargain deal and that the defence had approached the prosecutor, Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bay, to that effect.

Meanwhile the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Ebunoluwa Bademosi, yesterday, gave her own account of what transpired on the sad day her husband was gruesomely murdered. Mrs Bademosi told the gory story of how she returend from work to find her husband in a pool of blood.

Quote:“I went through the kitchen door to gain access to the building. The kitchen door was locked. I knocked several times, calling on the defendant (Anani), but he didn’t come to open the door. My husband’s bedroom and the kitchen door was a distance, so I felt he (Anani) must be doing something for him, so I waited by the kitchen door, for a while. While i was waiting, I got a call from my sister, at Ibadan and we spoke for about 5-6 minutes. ’At some point, I brought out my phone from my bag and called my husband, I realised that the phone was being picked but he was not responding. I called him twice and it was the same thing. It was showing minutes counting but nobody was talking.
‘’I went downstairs and decided to pass through the front door, thinking if I got there, there would be somebody at the door. By the time i got to the front door, I realised that the door was left ajar.”
Mrs Bademosi said she immediately suspected something bad had happened.
Quote:“I entered the apartment. By the time I got in, I looked up and saw blood flowing out of my husband’s bedroom. I couldn’t enter my husband’s bedroom because the door was only partially open but I could see his body lying on the floor. I wasn’t sure of what could be happening inside the bedroom, so, I ran out of the building and started screaming, calling neighbours to help. A couple of people came. I told them to go up and check that something was happening, that I didn’t know what exactly it was” she said
Mrs. Bademosi told the court that she ran to the gate and asked the security man,
Quote:“Where is that guy that oga brought into the house? What is happening? Who is inside the house?”
The guard said the defendant informed him the deceased sent him on an errand.
Quote:“People started coming, my next door neighbours and her driver were going upstairs and I followed them but i stood at a distance. They came out and said he was gone (sobbing), my husband was gone, and the defendant was not inside the house, then i passed out. When I woke up, I saw a crowd around me, inside the house, my husband’s corpse was lying down there. They took me downstairs because they didn’t want me to see the corpse. The police later came and took his corpse in an ambulance, he was buried on November 21, 2018″ she said
Mrs Bademosi refuted claims that she had a strained relationship with her deceased husband.
Quote:“I had a very cordial relationship with my husband. I cooked for my husband”.
The case was adjourned till June 11 for continuation of trial.

Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad dragged to court over alleged age falsification

Tochi Michael, a 46-year-old businessman has dragged Justice Tanko Muhammad, the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court over alleged age falsification.

According to reports, in the originating summons with suit No. FCT/HC/BW/CV/79/2019, filed before the court in April, the petitioner alleged that the CJN deliberately falsified his date of birth.

Michael alleged that the acting CJN falsified his date of birth from December 31, 1950 as contained in all his official records, including that of WAEC, to December 31, 1953 upon his appointment as a judicial officer.

The petitioner in the originating summons is praying the court to determine whether such act by the acting CJN does not constitute a criminal act of perjury, falsification and forgery. Michael in the originating summons also prayed the court to determine whether by falsifying his date of birth upon being appointed to the Nigeria Bench as a judicial officer, he has not breached the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The petitioner also prayed the court to determine whether Justice Mohammad had not breached the Code of Conduct for judicial officers and consequently brought the image of the Nigerian judiciary to disrepute and odium. The petitioner prayed the court for a declaration that the defendant falsified his date of birth and that he had desecrated the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also prayed for an order directing the Inspector-General of Police to prosecute the defendant for the offence of perjury and an any other order which the court may deem fit. At the Tuesday’s proceedings, counsel for the CJN, Mr Sam Ologunorisa (SAN), informed the court that the plaintiff and his counsel were not in the court. Ologunorisa told the court that it seemed the plaintiff and his counsel were “running away” from the suit they filed, stressing that the court should do the needful in the interest of justice.

Quote:“We filed a notice of preliminary objection, a counter-affidavit and a written address. We urge the court to deem it fit that the originating summons has been argued. We have to look at Exhibit III of the originating summons. We urge the court to dismiss the suit. The case is meant to scandalise the CJN,” he said.
Justice Danlami Senchi said another opportunity would be given to the petitioner to appear in the court to prove the allegation.  He adjourned the case till Friday.

God swore to make me rich because I gave him a car many years ago – Bishop Oyedepo

Founder and senior pastor of the Living Faith Church aka Winners chapel, David Oyedepo, has said that God swore to make him rich because he gave him a car for the gospel many years ago. Oyedepo has been profiled by forbes as one of the Wealthiest clergymen in the world.

Preaching in his church recently, the clergyman said his church now buys buses like loaves of bread because the car he gave to God many years ago.

Quote:‘I gave my car to God not to be rich but to spread the gospel and God swore to make me rich…now in one day we bought 87 buses at once, another day we bought 100 buses at once…We now buy buses like loaves of bread… Many of you will soon be building houses like loaves of bread,” he said.

He challenged his members to depend not on their certificates or profession but on God who can provide all their needs.
Quote:“There are too many ‘common’ people in the world; you need to come out of them and be distinguished by His leading,” he said.

Barry Trotz didn’t scan the rafters for the banner.Back in Washington Pittsburgh Penguins T-Shirts Authentic , he never once looked up for the championship flag hanging high above the home ice of the Capitals. Yet when he turned around for the national anthem, Trotz said he saw the big white letters standing out on the red banner: “STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2018” around the Capitals logo. When the anthem was over, he turned back to the visitors’ bench and got back to work on trying to earn some more banners to hang — in New York. After delivering the Capitals’ first championship in franchise history, Trotz is well on his way to changing the culture in his first season as Islanders coach and bringing that proud organization back to prominence. By implementing the same discipline off the ice and structure on the ice he did in Washington, Trotz has the Islanders in first place in their division past the halfway mark of the NHL season for just the second time in the past 28 years.“It feels very similar to the first year (in Washington),” Trotz said. “We were building something. We started with the structure and trying to make every moment count, the accountability, how we play Pittsburgh Penguins Hoodies Authentic , professionalism — all those things that make a pro athlete on and off the ice. We try to involve that with our organization as we did here. They’ve carried it on to the Stanley Cup, and we’re in the infancy stages.”Modest to a fault and not eager to accept praise, Trotz considers the Islanders a “work in progress.” But a lot of things are working:They have won five in a row and 12 of 14. Their goalies lead the league with a .920 save percentage after ranking 28th last season. They have allowed the fewest goals a game in the league after being the worst in that category last season. All this after point-a-game center John Tavares left in free agency to sign with his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs. The Islanders were expected to struggle, to say the least.Instead, they’ve thrived.“I think a lot of guys took it as a little bit of an insult when we were starting to get ranked to be the worst team in the league after he left,” fourth-line winger Matt Martin said. “(Trotz) gets the best out of everybody. … He gives everybody the role and responsibilities, everyone’s playing similar minutes every night, getting a real good opportunity to play. As a player Pittsburgh Penguins Hats Authentic , when you’re getting those opportunities and you feel emotionally invested, you feel involved.”It could take a while for the Islanders to become a perennial Cup contender like they were four decades ago. But the building blocks are being put in place under first-year general manager Lou Lamoriello and Trotz’s staff that includes longtime goaltending guru Mitch Korn.Trotz’s former players aren’t the least bit surprised at the early success.“If you ask him, I’m sure he’s not surprised either,” Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom said. “I actually think they’ve got really good players there. But he’s got that tendency to bring in a good system and to make sure you focus on the right things and he’s always pushing guys to get better.”Reigning Calder Trophy winner Mathew Barzal is on almost a point-a-game pace in his second season, captain Anders Lee is on the way to a 30-goal season, and Robin Lehner and Thomas Greiss are stopping the puck at some of the best rates of their careers. Lee said he believes one of the Islanders’ strengths is how someone different seems to step up every night, a result of Trotz balancing ice time and making them feel like a cohesive unit.“He does a wonderful job of rolling with guys that are feeling it or lines that are doing well that night and giving them matchups and getting everyone involved,” Lee said. “He has a really good sense of how the game is going Custom Pittsburgh Penguins Jerseys , the flow of it, and he can make those quick decisions in-game that makes him so effective.”Lamoriello knew what he was getting in Trotz, who’s fourth all-time in NHL coaching wins and had an impressive resume from Nashville and Washington even before winning the Cup. The Islanders lucked out in getting Trotz, who left the Capitals in a contract dispute in June days after the championship.“There’s no question that Barry Trotz is one of the elite coaches over the past X number of years in the National Hockey League,” Lamoriello said. “He came with a group that had a very sort of down year for a lot of different reasons last year. We added some unique people as far as what they bring as far as character as well as abilities. I think that everybody just has made a total commitment from ownership through management that we were going to do everything that was necessary to have success, and either people were going to be on board or they weren’t going to be.”Defenseman Brooks Orpik said it took some time a few years ago for the Capitals to understand why Trotz wanted some things, including the same set of rules for every player. The respect Trotz earned from Alex Ovechkin on down is growing with the Islanders.“He’s been awesome,” winger Josh Bailey said. “As a group www.officialsharks.com , you’ve got to be able to trust your leadership, which is our staff and Barry’s the head of that for sure.”After Trotz got his Cup ring earlier this season and before he coached his first game back in Washington, he told Islanders players he wants to have the same championship experience with them.“It’s a day-to-day process,” Trotz said. “You hear coaches use that, stay with the process. Just stay and keep growing as a team. And we don’t know where we’re going to end up.” The clapping starts the second Tyler Seguin boards the plane. He stares down the aisle to see all his teammates grinning. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, has secured the conviction of Adebunmi Raheem Adisa.

Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, on Monday, convicted and sentenced Adisa to eight months in prison.

The convict, who was earlier arraigned on May 22, 2018 before Justice Munta Abimbola, the Oyo State Chief Judge and presiding jurist in Court 1, was originally facing nine-count offences that border on obtaining money by false pretence and forgery.

The offence is contrary to section 1(2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related (Offences) Act, 2006 and Punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, while the latter contravenes Section 467 of the Criminal Code.

Due to the exigencies of time, his case was transferred to Justice Akintola’s Court 9, where he was eventually convicted.

Before the Monday session, Adisa had approached the prosecution for a plea bargain.

The request was granted and the two sides settled for a re-arraignment on a one-count amended charge upon which he was jailed.

As part of the conditions for the acceptance of the plea bargain, the convict has restituted to the victim of his fraud the sum of N1,405,000 (One Million Four Hundred and Five Thousand Naira).

Scores were reported to have sustained injuries while some were still missing and their livestock carted away by the bandits.

Confirming the attacks, spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, said those killed in Faskari were members of a vigilante group.

Quote:“On the Faskari incident, a group of Yansakai (vigilantes) from Sabon Layi village, went into the forest and confronted the bandits since yesterday and did not report back. Two corpses were recovered and buried by the villagers yesterday. A search party led by the DPO in Faskari recovered three other bodies inside the forest. Lawmakers push bill prohibiting the manufacture, use and importation of plastic bags in Nigeria

The House of Representatives has adopted a report on a bill seeking to prohibit the manufacture, use and importation of plastic bags for commercial and household packaging in Nigeria.

The bill which has been passed by the Senate, seeks to address the harmful effects of plastic bags on the oceans, rivers, lakes, forests, wildlife as well as human beings. According to a member of the house, Mohammed Monguno, plastic bags are non-degradable and have over the years become environmental hazards.

The bill amongst other things, recommends that retailers of goods should offer paper bags to customers at the point of sale in place of plastic bags or be guilty of an offence when the bill is passed into law. The bill also proffers that a person who manufactures plastic bags for the purpose of selling would be guilty of an offence. It also proffers that a person who imports plastic bag for sale is equally guilty of an offence.

Quote:“Anybody person found guilty shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding N500,000 or a jail term not exceeding three years or both,” the bill recommended.
The lawmakers will on a later day list the bill for a 3rd reading and afterwards send it to President Buhari for assent.

Aviation unions to disrupt flight activities, declare indefinite strike from tomorrow May 22nd

The Aviation unions made up of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the National Association of Air Transport Pilots and Employees (NAAPE), have declared an indefinite strike that will take effect from tomorrow, Wednesday May 22nd. This means flight activities in all airports will be disrupted tomorrow.

The unions in a joint statement released today, said the strike is coming after the expiration of an earlier seven days ultimatum it issued to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over failure to meet their demands. Following the industrial action, flight activities will be disrupted from tomorrow.

The statement in part reads

Quote:“Having therefore exhausted all efforts and patience on the issues, we are left with no other option. Our unions hereby direct all staff of NCAA nationwide to commence an indefinite industrial action with effect from 0500hrs on Wednesday, 22nd May, 2019.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 22ND MAY.

BAR THE WRONG THOUGHTS FROM YOUR HEART

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

The word, “keep” as used in the scripture above is the same used in Genesis 2:15: “And the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” It actually implies taking care of something in a protective way and ensuring its security against an external aggressor.

The Good News Bible translation puts it clearer. It says, “…the LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it.” The word “guard” has a military connotation, which suggests protecting from attack or maintaining in safety from danger. This is the sense in which we’re to defend our hearts against wrong thoughts.

Wrong, unwholesome thoughts are enemies you must ward off continually. Read the James Moffat’s rendering of our opening verse; it’s profound. It says, “Guard above all things, guard your inner self so you can live and prosper. Bar out all thoughts of evil and banish wayward words.” This doesn’t suggest or give room for you to be casual in dealing with wrong thoughts.

There’s a devil out there trying to send wrong thoughts into your heart through your mind; that’s his job. But you’re to bar his evil thoughts and banish his wayward suggestions by simply saying, “No” to them; erect a blockade against them.

God isn’t going to guard your heart for you. The responsibility is yours. But the good news is that you’re not helpless as to what to do. You’ve been equipped with “...the whole armour of God...” (Ephesians 6:11), and what you need to do is put it on and never take it off!

With your armour in place, you’ll be able to banish every evil thought or contrary idea that tries to assault your mind. Moreover, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 declares, “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holdsWink Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

CONFESSION

I refuse to accommodate unwholesome, unhealthy and noxious thoughts or let the news of fear, poverty, economic meltdown, diseases or death run my life or determine the circumstances of my existence. My mind is guarded by the Word and completely yielded to the right ideas, thoughts, materials, and messages. Therefore, I’m built up, edified and strengthened in the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Philippians 4:8; Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Romans 12:2; And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

#TALKINGSESSION

22ND MAY.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, I thank You for Your grace in my life, and the ability to show care, and be diligent in all my duties and responsibilities. I am full of wisdom, and continually receive thoughts and ideas from the Spirit that put me over, and give me the advantage always. I am made for life, and set up for honour.

I live above the economy and the systems of this world, because the greater One lives in me! I am not subject to the elements of the world, and my life is a testimony of God's greatness. Divine might is at work in me, and my victory in Christ is fully assured. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Passenger told bus driver "God bless you" then slit his throat in Tampa (graphic photo)

A bus passenger has been charged with murder after he slit the throat of a bus driver in Tampa, Florida.

Justin McGriff was on a Hillsborough Area Regional Transit bus on Saturday afternoon when he began arguing with the driver. As Thomas Dunn, 46, drove the public bus down Nebraska Avenue during their argument, McGriff walked up to him brought out a sharp weapon and slashed Dunn's throat after telling him, "God bless you," twice.

The cut severed Dunn's carotid and jugular arteries. Dunn was able to bravely pull the bus over to the side of the road to save his passengers from an accident. He later died on the bus.

Terrified passengers who witnessed the incident called police at 4:15 p.m to report Saturday's killing. A recording of the call shows the chaos that erupted following the stabbing.

"This guy just stabbed the bus driver in the neck," the caller says over the sound of other passengers shouting in the background.

The operator asks if the assailant is still on the bus.

The caller replied: "He ran off. We was on the bus at it was driving so he jumped off as it was still moving. The guy slit his neck, sir. The guy is actually dead right now, the driver."

Police apprehended McGriff a few hours later. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Cameroonian househelp who stabbed bride-to-be, Dayo Adeleke, to death in Parkview estate has been sentenced to death

Cameroonian househelp, Leudjoe Koyemen Joel, who stabbed his boss, Dayo Adeleke, to death at her home in Parkview estate in Lagos state on December 20th 2016, has been sentenced to death.

Joel stabbed 33-year-old Dayo who was at the time engaged and preparing for her wedding. His grouse was that she refused to grant him the 2-weeks salary advance he requested for. Read story here

Delivering judgement in the case today May 21st, Justice Adedayo Akintoye ruled that Joel is guilty and is to die by hanging.

Dayo's family in a statement released today, said they are consoled that justice has finally been served. Read the statement below

Quote:“On the night of 20th December 2016, we received the news that our daughter, sister, and friend Dayo Enioluwa Adeleke, was brutally slaughtered in cold blood whilst defenceless and in the solace of her own home by her Cameroonian domestic help, Joel Ledjou. Words cannot adequately describe the complete and utter devastation and sorrow that her senseless murder has caused in our lives.

Joel had just been employed two months prior to the murder of Dayo. Dayo’s usual empathy and the need to help a ‘poor refugee’ as described by the pastor who referred him to Dayo from Mountain of Solution Ministries,  led to her employing him. It’s ironic that the person she employed, out of her compassion,  turned round and snuffed out her life in one senseless act of greed.
Her supposed ‘offence’ to warrant being murdered by him was that she had not obliged him a two-week salary advance which he requested earlier that morning. The reward for Dayo’s kindness was death! Joel robbed Dayo of marriage, motherhood and longevity, a painful fact that still hurts us as a family each and every day.
The Nigeria Police worked tirelessly in investigating the matter and the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, in turn, has worked diligently in prosecuting the matter in court. Today, Tuesday, May 21, 2019,  two years and five months after the murder, Justice Akintoye, sitting at the Criminal Division of the High Court of Lagos State delivered her judgment and found Joel Ledjou guilty of murder and sentenced him to death by hanging.
This murderer robbed Dayo of marriage, motherhood, and longevity. Though still heartbroken over the loss of Dayo, we are somewhat consoled that justice has finally been served. Our beloved Dayo can now rest peacefully in the knowledge that her perpetrator received the full weight of the Law for her murder.
Dayo, our light, you will never be forgotten. You are always and forever in our hearts. Your legacy lives on through all of us who remain.”

IPOB reveals why Nigerian Government shutdown Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri seaports

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Monday, said that the Federal Government’s closure of the seaports in the South-South was to strangulate the economy of South-East.

This was part of a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful on Monday.

In the statement, Powerful quoted IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as demanding the reopening of Warri, Calabar and Port Harcourt seaports.

The IPOB described their continued closure as one of the injustices it had been fighting.

The statement added, “IPOB is about the liberation of all Biafra territories. Only mischief makers will imply otherwise.

“Yet, some people from the coastal part of Biafraland will beat their chest to admit to working towards one Nigeria and foolishly channel their grievances against the same IPOB that is trying to save all of us.

“These traitors hiding under the name of one pro-Biafra group or another cleverly forgot that their masters in the Federal Government have reached an agreement to build a dry port worth $250 million in Ibadan, while Igweocha a city the British colonial masters renamed Port Harcourt in Rivers State has no functional port.

“It is on record that I have consistently asked for the reopening of Warri, Calabar and Igweocha seaports.

“For those accusing us of making IPOB an Igbo affair, Warri is not in Igboland, neither is Calabar, but as anyone in the know will testify, I have always insisted these demands of reopening South-South seaports, be met before any formal dialogue can take place.

“It was not a Biafran or Igboman that killed Ken Saro Wiwa, neither was it an Igbo man that killed Adaka Boro. Why it is that Yoruba that support northern hegemony gets everything whereas the governing elite of the coastal region loyal to the North cannot attract the same level of interest?

“A new mega-seaport is being built in Badagry to add to Tin Can and Apapa Wharfs but South-South seaports were closed down to strangulate the economy of Biafra.

“They have railway lines crisscrossing the entire West, but there is nothing in our land (South South and South East).

“Where are the Fulani approved elites in the South-South or the Arewa Consultative Forum anointed leaders of South-East? Don’t we have resources for a Seaport site?, yet $250m will be spent to build an artificial one.

“These traitors will not fight their oppressor, but are comfortably happy to accept crumbs falling off the master’s table to fight IPOB, that is fighting to liberate them.

“I have never and will never collect money from anyone to sell or compromise our puritanical stance because unlike these stomach infrastructure agitators, I will sacrifice anything sacrificeable to get Biafra.

“I rejected every financial inducement when I was incarcerated and detained in Kuje, I would not insult myself by accepting anything from anybody now. I want to tell Ohaneze Ndigbo leaders, Igbo governors, PANDEF leaders and every other meaningless ‘settle me and my boys groups’ out there that our problem is their lack of patriotic discipline and weak mindedness. IPOB has gone way too far in this effort to restore Biafra.

“The jihadist Arewa core north have given N100 billion to Fulani Herdsmen killers, but how to stop 30th May Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day, is of paramount issue to Igbo politicians. Is this not the height of misplaced priorities?

“It’s a shame to the Old Eastern region, how the North keeps on messing with our brain because some people cannot afford to resist financial inducement. They keep on fooling our so called leaders and disgracing them out of power in the end.

“The level of humiliation and marginalization is now a shame to our region. What a shame…look at how Okoroawusa is being disgraced from pillar to post after serving his Fulani kinsmen. His only mistake is that he has an Igbo name. They have even forgotten that he is one of them. That is the extent of their hatred for anything Biafra.”

The Commissioner of Police during the parade, said: “On May 1, 2019, at about 17:30hours, information was received at Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operational base, Saki that some members of a notorious secret confraternity, who have been inflicting various acts of violence and nefarious criminal activities on members of the public in Saki town and other areas in Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State, were sighted in their hideout beside Nighles Hotel in Saki.

“They had gathered to initiate new members into the secret confraternity. Based on this credible information, a team of SARS operatives headed by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Olusola Aremu, was quickly drafted to the area and in the process, 10 members of the cult group, who confessed to be members of Eiye Confraternity were arrested. Three other members of the group who managed to escape were later arrested in Ibadan.”

One of the suspects, Olatunji Kehinde, told journalists: “I am a cultist. We were having a meeting when we were arrested. It is not true that we wanted to do initiation when we were arrested because everybody at the meeting was already initiated. We all belong to Eiye Confraternity. I joined the group last year.”

Items recovered from the suspected cultists included one Jack knife, one live cartridge, two black caps, criminal charms and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. The police boss in the state said investigation was still ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the group.

The Federal Government (FG) is yet enmeshed in another scandal as it was gathered that they failed to pay the whistle-blower who exposed the secret $223m NNPC account. It was gathered that the whistle-blower whose name was withheld had approached the AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in June 2018 and informed him of an account named, ‘NNPC Brass LNG INV. Fund’ with number 1750027157 domiciled in Skye Bank (now Polaris Bank). Punch reported that bank documents showed that the account was opened with the sum of $328, 998, 818.24 on May 31, 2014, at the Asokoro branch of the bank, and they've failed to remit the money to the Central Bank of Nigeria in contravention of the Treasury Single Account policy of the Federal Government.

The whistle-blower who was referred to the Special Investigation Panel who he briefed of his findings, subsequently accompanied officials of the panel to the bank where top officials were arrested and made statements. It was agreed that the money will be transferred by installments, as it will affect the bank negatively. The whistle-blower signed a bond along with the AGF which was witnessed by Ladidi Mohammed, the Head, Asset Recovery and Management Unit at the AGF’s office after he played his part.  However even after $30m was transferred from the said account to the CBN in three tranches on March 1, 2019, March 6, 2019 and April 25, the FG has failed to pay the whistle-blower who exposed the secret $223m NNPC account his commission, 11 months after the agreement was signed.

In a letter signed by the whistle-blower’s lawyer, Aliyu Lemu, which was addressed to the AGF, the whistle-blower who lamented the failure of the government to honour the agreement, threatened to sue the Federal Government if he was not paid his commission within seven days.

Melaye Vs Adeyemi: What Happened At Election Tribunal On Monday
User Avatar Forum: News

The applicant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West senatorial region, Senator Smart Adeyemi, has shut his case before the National and State Assembly Election Tribunal that is settling on the February 23 National Assembly decision.

Adeyemi was testing the statement of the occupant legislator, Senator Dino Melaye (first respondent), as the victor of the survey by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At the continued sitting of the court in Abuja on Monday, advice to the solicitor, Chief Toyin Adeniyi, called three observers to additionally demonstrate that Melaye did not win the decision and ought not to have been pronounced the victor of the race.

The observers were Adeyemi, who was the star observer, the Director-General, Adeyemi Campaign Organization, Adoga Ibrahim, and the Kogi west zonal Chairman of APC, Ropo Asala, who were additionally questioned by the respondents' advice.

The candidate, in any case, told the council that the Kogi High Court judgment had proclaimed that races resemblance, declaration, and different issues as respected Kogi west race ought to be done at the central area station in Kabba and not in Lokoja.

Adeyemi told the court that the difference in gathering focus by INEC from Kabba to Lokoja enabled the respondents to take part in supposed controls, altering, mutilations of results sheets and different anomalies saw in the race results.

Aside from the judgment, Adeyemi additionally encouraged the court to concede the affirmed exact duplicate of the rundown of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) dispersions begun by INEC in the senatorial pivot.

Nonetheless, the Peoples Democratic Party, which was the second and the INEC, third respondent did not challenge the tolerability of the High court judgment yet solicited the council to dismiss that from the PVC dispersion since it was not "recorded or front-stacked" by the applicants toward the start of the request.

Executive of the three-person board, Justice O. A Chijoke, be that as it may, conceded the court judgment as proof however declined the PVC dispersion, saying it ought to be set apart as "offered yet dismissed."

MTN spurs NSE to biggest daily gain in 3 months

MTN spurs NSE to biggest daily gain in 3 months

The Nigerian equity market on Monday recorded its highest daily gain to extend its gaining streak to 3 consecutive trading days since the listing of MTN last Thursday.

At the close of trading on Custom Street, the Nigerian all share index (ASI) picked up by 1.74 percent.
The stocks market neared 2 percent daily growth although reports on Q1 GDP showed a slow down by 16 percentage points from 2.38 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 to settle at 2.01 percent in the first quarter of 2019.

However, analysts opined that the performance of the Nigeria all share index was independent of the GDP report-which they said, did not catch investors’ by surprise.

“The slowdown witnessed in the economy was a resultant effect of the 2019 general elections in Q1,” Gbolahan Ologunro, analyst at CSL stockbrokers opined, “This had already been envisaged by investors as witnessed also in the fourth quarter of 2018, hence, priced into the market.”
Gains in the day’s trading session pared year to date loss from -8.14 percent as at friday of the previous week to -6.54 percent.

Fola Abimbola, Equity analyst at FBNQuest also explained that the effect the growth in the economy on the stock market would be very minimal.
“Anybody that would take a position on stocks would not be based on the fact that GDP growth didn’t outperform the previous quarter, ’’ he stated.
The analyst explained that the major driver for stocks on the exchange is their quarterly numbers which failed to impress in Q1 2019 on the heels of “election uncertainties, as most Company management claimed,” Abimbola explained.

The Nigeria stock market began experiencing a rebound on the market index, ending its bearish trend upon listing by introduction of the shares of Telco giant MTN which has seen investors gain in value about N2.2 trillion in the last 3 trading days.

While some equity investors who had hoped to become one of the owners of the telecoms company are still yearning despite existing shareholders of MTN Nigeria are largely unwilling to offer their holdings, buy pressure from “the big money bags” have seen share price of MTN rally at an average of 9.98 percent in the last 3 trading days.

Analysts however anticipate that upon the Telco giant reaching its intrinsic value which is assumed to range between N150 to N190 based on various valuations by analysts, the market will stabilised and existing negative sentiment may set in.

NSE Clarifies Concerns On MTN Nigeria's Premium Board Listing
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2019, 10:26 AM - No Replies

The attention of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE or The Exchange) has been drawn to a few critical issues raised in various print and social media platforms regarding the listing of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (MTN Nigeria) on the Premium Board of the Exchange. As an Exchange that is committed to operating a fair, orderly and transparent market, we deem it important to clarify these issues.

Paucity of MTN Shares on the Floor

MTN Nigeria Listed by Introduction. Where a company lists following an Initial Public Offering, shares are expected to be available for trading on the day of listing. In a Listing by Introduction, however, no shares have been offered for subscription by the company prior to listing. Thus, without any intervention, it is possible that there will be no shares available for trading on the listing date. Indeed, currently, no rule of The Exchange compels shareholders in a listed company to tender their shares for trading. Shareholders are at liberty to trade their shares at any time and price suitable to them. Thus, in order to stimulate trading in the shares of companies that List by Introduction, the NSE’s practice is to urge the company to make shares available on the day of listing. In the case of MTN Nigeria, the NSE used and will continue to use moral suasion to get MTN Nigeria to make available shares daily, pending its Initial Public Offer.

Since the listing of MTN Nigeria on Thursday, May 16, 2019, a total of 105,301,759 shares valued at N12,231,997,316 have traded in three days. These trades were carried out by ten (10) dealing member firms in 134 cross deals/negotiated deals. According to the rule book of the Exchange, “When a Dealing Member or Authorized Clerk has an order to buy and an order to sell the same security at the same price, the Dealing Member or Authorized Clerk may “cross” those orders at a price at or within The Exchange best bid or offer”. A variant of this is the negotiated deal, which describes a situation where a cross-deal is executed between two dealing member firms at a price which may be within the Exchange’s best bid or offer or with the approval of the Exchange, outside the best bid or offer. Because cross deals involve clients of the same stockbroker on both sides of a trade, significant issues have been raised about the fact that stockbrokers who have not been involved in the cross deals have not been able to trade on behalf of their clients. The Exchange is not unconcerned about this state of affairs.

As an Exchange that champions transparency and equity for all stakeholders in our market, we have received stakeholder feedback concerning our present rules on cross dealing and will consider the issues raised as part of our sustained efforts to ensure our market remains equitable for all stakeholders.

MTN Nigeria’s Free-Float Valuation

There appears to be a misconception that a concession was given to MTN Nigeria on the minimum free float required for companies listed on The Exchange. According to the Rules Governing Free Float Requirements for Issuers Listed on The Nigerian Stock Exchange, free float is defined as the number of shares that an Issuer has outstanding and available to be traded on The Exchange. It includes all shares held by the investing public, and excludes shares held directly or indirectly by promoters, directors and their close relatives; strategic investors holding five per cent (5%) and above of the issued share capital; or government.

The Exchange’s rules for listing on the Premium Board (which is the board in which MTN Nigeria is listed) require a Company to have a minimum free float of twenty per cent of its issued share capital or that the value of its free float is equal to or above N40 billion on the date the Exchange receives the Issuer’s application to list. MTN Nigeria met with the free float requirement of N40 billion. The free float of MTN at the time of listing was in excess of N160 billion.

Investor protection is very important to us at the NSE and we have taken necessary steps to ensure that our market is fair and orderly. In 2016, we acquired NASDAQ’s SMARTS platform to proactively detect and deter manipulative tendencies, gather intelligence and execute risk-based supervision of flagged participants. We have also implemented other initiatives aimed at providing investors with timely information on the compliance status of our dealing members and issuers including BrokerTrax, our member compliance report, and Compliance Status Indicator (CSI) codes (for issuers). In addition, we have institutionalized our investor education program and launched X-Academy in June 2017, because we have identified investor education as a veritable tool to galvanizing informed investments and necessary step towards protecting investors in our market.

Whilst we believe we have addressed the concerns raised, we will like to assure our stakeholders and the general public that The Exchange will continue to uphold global best practices in its business operations and will sustain engagement with its stakeholders to continually develop regulatory frameworks that ensure our market completely reflects our values of ambition, fairness and inclusion.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed reveals full details of the May 29th presidential inauguration and June 12th's Democracy Day

At a world press conference in Abuja yesterday, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed shared the details of the May 29th presidential inauguration and the first observance of June 12th as the nation's Democracy Day.

Quote:As you would recall, I said, at a press conference at the State House on Monday, May 13th 2019, that the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term on May 29th 2019, will be a low-key affair. I also said a number of the events slated for the inauguration will now be held during the first observance of June 12 as Democracy Day. The essence of this press conference, therefore, is to give you the details of the events that have been slated for both the inauguration and the Democracy Day.
3. Before we reel out the details of the events, let's remind you, gentlemen, that Mr. President last year declared June 12 as Democracy Day and a national holiday. He also said the official commencement of the new Democracy Day will be in 2019. It is in fulfillment of this declaration, therefore, that the Federal Executive Council decided, at its meeting on Wednesday May 8th 2019, to have a low-key presidential inauguration on May 29th, and then defer the celebration that comes with it to the June 12 Democracy Day.
4. This is why I said, at my earlier press conference, that since the first observance of June 12 as Democracy Day falls in an election year, and as a measure to sustain June 12 as Democracy Day, the celebration of the inauguration and the advancement of democracy in the country will now take place on June 12. I also said, of course, that the country can ill-afford two major celebrations within a two-week interval.
5. On the invitation of world leaders to the presidential inauguration, I said the leaders would be invited instead to the ceremonies marking the observance of the Democracy Day on June 12, and that invitations have since been sent out to them.
6. Now to the details of the two events.
Presidential Inauguration on May 29th 2019 Activities leading to the inauguration of Mr. President officially kicks off today, May 20th, with this press conference. This will be followed of Tuesday, May 21st, by the commencement of a three-day National Youth Entrepreneurship Empowerment Summit at the International Conference Centre (ICC) here in Abuja.
The Federal Executive Council Valedictory Session will be held at the Council Chambers, State House, Abuja, on Wednesday, May 22nd; a Special Jumat Lecture and prayer will be held on Friday May 24th at the National Mosque; the First Lady's interaction with women is slated for the Old Chamber at the State House on Saturday May 25th while a special Interdenominational Church Service is slated for Sunday May 26th at the National Christian Centre.
On Monday, May 27th, Mr. President will give a Children;s Day broadcast, to be followed later in the day by a Children's Variety Party. The swearing in of the President and the Vice President is slated for Wednesday, May 29th at the Eagle Square, to be followed by a State Banquet at the State House in the evening of the same day
2019 Democracy Day Celebration (7-12th June 2019) The events celebrating June 12 as Democracy Day will kick off on Friday, June 7th with a Historical Exhibition in Arts, Pictures and
Immersive Environment and run through June 12th. The event is slated to hold at the ICC. It will be followed on Sunday, June 9th by a Youth Concert, Creative Industry and Entertainment Night also at the ICC.
On Monday, June 10th, there will be a Secondary Schools Exhibition/Panel Discussion at the ICC, and Tuesday, June 11th will feature three events: the PMB Oratorical Contest at the ICC, an
Anti-corruption Summit at the Transcorp Hilton and and a First Lady's Commissioning Programme in Yola, Adamawa.
Wednesday, June 12th will start off with a parade at the Eagle Square, and the Democracy Day programme will wrap up with a Dinner and Gala Night at the State House Conference Centre.
Please note, gentlemen, that the programme of events, complete with the time of events and other details, will be made available to you after this press conference.
7. On this note, we want to most sincerely thank you, gentlemen, for honouring our invitation. We will now take your questions

With inauguration of President Buhari for a second term around the corner, the National Leader of governing All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, appealed to elderly Nigerians to avoid inflammatory statements that could undermine peaceful co-existence among the nation’s diverse communities.

Speaking after an Iftar dinner meeting with President Buhari, along with Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, the former Lagos State governor said all citizens should consider the enormity of challenges facing the nation, and support the President.

He urged Nigerians to rally round President Buhari to solve the problems and stabilize the polity.

Quote:“The President worked hard and will continue to do so to ensure peace and stability in the country, which are important for the economy to make progress. These are the key pegs of his agenda. Let us all come together to support him,” he said.
Asiwaju Tinubu said the Peoples Democratic Party is reputed for “saucy and distractive statements’’, urging Nigerians not to be angry with the opposition party, but assist them to overcome their “colossal defeat” in the February 2019 elections.
Quote:“Don’t blame them. They are handicapped by the traumatic feelings of the colossal loss of the election. You should help them to manage the trauma,” he added.
The APC National Leader commended President Buhari for the recognition of June 12th as the nation’s Democracy Day. In his remarks, Sultan Abubakar pledged his support to the success of the President’s administration.

Other guests at the Iftar dinner were the Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Justice Isa Dodo, Malam Mamman Daura, Isma’ila Isa, Mr Wale Tinubu and Mr Hakeem P. Fahm, the Commissioner of Science and Technology, Lagos State.

Ketozol Diet : I have shed a couple of new light on that whole business. I like to see this sort of price cutting. You might suppose that I've got bats in my belfry. It is a solid foundation. Either way, fellow travelers seem to be willing to pay for Ketosis because it is somewhat related to your emotional well being. Therefore, I had a slight situation. Weight Loss was designed by them. I'm a noob. It will probably not lead you to rethink your Weight Lose approaches. This installment will cause a number of head scratching.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 21ST MAY.

EDUCATING THE INWARD MAN

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind... (Romans 12:2).

The highest potential of the human nature isn’t in the outward man, but in the inward man, the human spirit. This is why the premium must be on the education of your spirit.

The best education in the world is an attempt to inform, refine, and develop the mind through the senses of the outward man. However, it’s the education of the inward man, the human spirit, that ultimately gives light and wisdom, and it’s only achievable through receiving and meditating on the Word of God.

God’s Word helps you discover the real you and improves the quality of your life from within. Read our opening verse again and notice that it talks about the spiritual education of the inward man: “…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind .”
Now, in education, there’s practice and exercise. Thus, in educating your inward man, you practise the Word; you practise living, seeing, and relating from your spirit. You refuse to relate to things from a natural or physical standpoint.

Remember part of what we read: “…be not conformed to this world…” ; meaning you shouldn’t live like them, or think like them, or see from their perspective. Instead, be transfigured and translated by the renewing of your mind; by feeding and nurturing your spirit with the Word, you change the way you think.

For example, hitherto you thought you were a failure, but now you think differently, because the Word says you’re a success. You thought you were a mere sinner, failing to please the Lord, but now you think and see yourself as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You have a new mind-set—the mind-set of the righteous which indeed is a result of the education of the inward man.

CONFESSION

I have the mindset of the just. I’m positioned at all times to receive direction, inspiration, counsel and wisdom from the Spirit of God! I’m yielded to the guidance of the Spirit; therefore, I walk in consistent victories and triumphs, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Psalm 16:7 AMPC I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

1 Peter 3:3-4 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

#TALKINGSESSION

21ST MAY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.
Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for guiding me in the path of life and leading me in the way of supernatural success and permanent prosperity. I make my way prosperous and consistently experience good success as I meditate on the Word and speak it forth with boldness.

I thank You Father, for the power of Your Spirit in my life! Even now, I am strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in my inner man! I can do all things through Christ who energizes and infuses me with miracle-working ability! I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency! Hallelujah!

God bless you
