The Code of Conduct Bureau has said President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, governors and other public officers whose tenure ends on May 29 must submit their end-of-tenure asset declaration forms on May 28, 2019.

However, other public officers, mainly members of the outgoing 8th National Assembly, who were inaugurated on June 9, 2015 have up till June 8, 2019, a few hours to the expiration of their tenure to declare their assets, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Paragraphs 1 to 16 of the Part II of the Fifth Schedule of the Nigerian Constitution list the categories of public officers who must periodically declare their assets to the CCB.

But those affected with the wind-down of the 2015 – 2019 political dispensation by virtue of the constitutional provision are the President, Vice-President, President and Deputy President of the Senate, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Speakers and Deputy Speakers of state Houses of Assembly and all members of legislative houses.

The rest are Governors and Deputy Governors, the Attorney General of the Federation and Attorney General of each state, ministers, commissioners and Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Paragraph 11 of the Part 1 to the Fifth Schedule to the constitution compels public officers to declare their assets to the CCB “immediately after taking office and thereafter:

“(a) at the end of every four years; and

“(b) at the end of his term of office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all his properties, assets, and liabilities and those of his unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.”

The “guidelines” for assets declaration accessed on the website of the bureau on Friday says a declarant must declare their assets within 30 days of being issued the assets declaration form.

Paragraph 2, of the guidelines reads, “Every declarant is required by law to declare his/her assets/liability including that of his spouse(s) who is not a public officer and children under 18 years, honestly, sincerely and submit same to the bureau within 30 days of the receipt of the forms.”

Paragraph 7 of the guidelines added, “Every public officer is to note that it is the requirement of the law to declare his/her assets/liabilities on:

“(a) assumption of office;

“(b) At the end of his term of office,

“© At interval of four years for public officers on continuous employment of government whether federal, state or local government:

“(d) and at such other intervals as the Bureau may determine from time to time.”

Speaking with one of our correspondents on Thursday, the Chief Press Officer of the CCB, Mrs Charity Utok, said the incoming political office holders were given up to three months to make their declarations to the CCB, while the outgoing ones must do so as soon as they “step out” of office.

She said the implications of not making the declaration or not making it at the appropriate time would be filing charges against such defaulters at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Utok said, “They can be sworn in, and within three months they have to declare their assets, otherwise the bureau will drag them to the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

“It is applicable to all public officers, both political appointees and elected officers – from the councillors to local government chairmen, commissioners, members of the state Houses of Assembly, governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers, Vice-President and President.

“For those who are finishing their tenure, they must declare as soon as they step out.”

She explained that the first tenure of President Buhari and that of Vice-President Osinbajo would end on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, hence the Tuesday deadline for the two of them to submit their asset forms for the end of their first tenure.

He added, “Anyone who fails to declare their assets will be taken before the tribunal.

“Those in the asset declaration section of the tribunal will compile their names and they will be charged before the tribunal for trial.”

CCB state directors insist no going back on deadline

Following the directive, state directors of the CCB in various states, who spoke with Saturday PUNCH, stated that the Bureau had said there was no going back on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 deadline set for the submission of asset forms.

The Director of the CCB in Bauchi State, Ibraheem Mahmood, said, “The headquarters of the Bureau has set aside Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th May as the last date they want all forms of the elected officials to be submitted to them.”

He said, “The outgoing governor and the deputy also assured me that they will submit their own today (Friday) because they have collected the forms and sent their people for guidance on how to go about it. We have guided them and they said they will submit it today.”

Also reacting on Friday, the Director of CCB in Gombe State, Panyi Baira, said, “Although the deadline is yet to pass, they are complying with the bureau. They will comply before the May 28 deadline.

However, sources within the bureau in the state were complaining that the level of total compliance was minimal.

CCB demands bank statements, title documents

Meanwhile, findings by Saturday PUNCH revealed that governors, ministers and other political office holders were expected to submit their six-month bank statement alongside their asset declaration forms.

They will be required to appear later before CCB team in their states to present title documents of some of the assets they claim belong to them in the asset forms.

Governors rush to meet submission deadline

Outgoing and returning governors have intensified their efforts to meet Tuesday deadline for submission of their asset declaration forms.

While Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Mark Longyen, said he would meet the deadline in response to an inquiry by one of our correspondents in Jos on Friday, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who spoke through his media aide, Anayo Chukwu, said he would do the needful before leaving office.

Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, the Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr Enyinnaya Appolos, said the governor would summit his form to the CCB before the expiration on Tuesday.

He said, “The governor is a law-abiding citizen, he has no problems with compiling with what the law says regarding the declaration of his assets. We will surely summit the form before his second term inauguration.”

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom said he had complied with the constitutional provision on asset declaration.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Tahav Agerzua, disclosed this on Friday.

Senators, Reps, rush to meet deadline

Findings by Saturday Punch showed that elected senators and House of Representatives members had started making frantic efforts to fill and submit their assets declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau before the June 11 inauguration day for the Ninth Assembly.

Investigations by our correspondents during the week revealed that many of the incoming and returning federal legislators were already complying with the mandatory constitutional requirement.

Some of the new lawmakers who spoke with Saturday PUNCH said they would do everything possible to submit the documents before the day of inauguration.

It was learnt that the management of the nation’s apex legislative institution even made it easier for the incoming federal parliamentarians by procuring the forms from the CCB and distributing to them during their orientation programme held in April.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman, Forum of House of Representatives First-Time Members, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said newly-elected lawmakers had started complying with the constitutional guidelines.

He told our correspondents on Friday that his members were doing everything possible to ensure they meet up with the constitutional requirements before the day of inauguration.

Tunji-Ojo said, “We are all bound by the rules and regulations of this country as law-abiding citizens. Nobody is above the law. If anybody has nothing to hide, then he or she could come clean.

“We have to declare what we have as assets and let the government have the records. It is part of fighting corruption. We must fight corruption in a pro-active manner.”

Also reacting to the issue on behalf of the National Assembly management, the Director of Information, Rawlings Agada, said, “It is part of the decision that we took during the orientation by making the forms as part of the requirements for their registration.

“As a matter of fact, the management was proactive by going to the Code of Conduct Bureau to collect the forms and make them available to the elected lawmakers during the orientation in April.”

Anti-graft agency to invite those with established cases after May 29

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit have intensified surveillance on financial transactions by outgoing government officials, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Towards this end, operatives of the EFCC and their counterparts in the NFIU have been asked to be on the lookout for evidence of looting of public funds/any suspicious financial activity by outgoing government officials, especially state governors.

An operative in one of the agencies, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said the anti-graft agencies had gathered evidence against a number of outgoing governors and were on the lookout for last minute transactions “which could serve as icing on the cake on some of these cases.”

A source in the NFIU, who explained the situation to Saturday PUNCH, in Abuja, on Friday, noted that the unit was not leaving anything to chance as it was working with sister agencies at “home and abroad” to halt money laundering and terrorism financing.

“All transactions which fall into certain categories are reported to us. On our part, we analyse the information and forward same to the appropriate security agency for further action.”

When asked if there was a special attention on governors, he said, “It doesn’t matter whether the person is a governor or an ordinary person on the street who is being used as a front within or outside this country, provided the transaction goes through the financial system, it will be flagged and we will get those involved.”

An EFCC operative who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue said, “We have outgoing governors who are unaware we have built cases around their illegal activities while they were in government.

“Making the names of such people public at this point is like asking them to go into hiding.”

Attempts to get a reaction from the spokesperson for the NFIU, Sani Tukur, were futile. Calls to his mobile telephone number indicated that it was switched off; a response to a text message sent to him was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.

However, the acting Media Head of the EFCC, Tony Orilade, while responding to enquiries from Saturday PUNCH as to whether the commission was going to arrest any of the outgoing governors and how many of them were involved, said, “We don’t discuss ongoing investigations on the pages of the newspapers.

“If we have done our investigations and we have a prima facie case on anyone, of course, we will go after them at the expiration of their immunity on May 29th.

“Whoever has a case based on our discreet investigations, we will wait till when they no longer have immunity before inviting them for questioning.”

Speaking on the issue, the Executive Director, Civil Societies Legislative and Advocacy Centre, Auwual Musa, said, “We will expect a lot of activity from the EFCC as soon as the handover process is completed.

“Some of these outgoing governors don’t deserve to walk free with the amount of public funds they converted to private use.

“It will be an opportunity for this administration which has made the fight against corruption one of its campaign promises to prove to Nigerians that belonging to the ruling party is not equal to immunity from prosecution.”

CCB ignores request for Acting CJN Tanko Muhammad’s assets declaration form

Meanwhile, the CCB has shunned the request by Saturday PUNCH for the assets declaration form submitted by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

The bureau had, as of Friday, yet to respond to the newspaper’s letter which was received by the office of the Chairman of CCB, Prof. Muhammed Isah, on April 25.

The request by the newspaper was anchored on the provision of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, which makes it mandatory for the bureau to respond to a request made on the strenght of the Act within seven days.

A public institution such as the CCB, from which information is sought under the FoI Act, must either provide the requested information or give the reasons on why such request cannot be granted, within seven days.

But 30 days after the SATURDAY PUNCH’s letter was received by the CCB chairman, no response has been given to the request.

In its letter dated February 24, 2019 and received by the CCB chairman the next day, the newspaper, had said of the request for the Acting CJN’s assets declaration form, “We respectfully ask you to make this available as this would deepen transparency and accountability, which are what the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari preaches”.

Why I Had Sex With My Four Daughters –father

…detectives pose as preachers

•Our dad a victim, not a criminal, say girls

Quote:By Juliana Francis

Forty-seven-year old Rashidi, living in Sango-Ota, Ogun State could easily be described as a good looking man.
This means that getting a woman to warm his bed wouldn’t be a lot of headache. But Rashidi, for some years now, had been having sexual intercourse with four of his daughters. A situation many people who got wind of described as bizarre.

But the most bizarre is that his wife, who is the mother of the four girls, was aware of the situation and appeared handicapped to do anything about it.
The incestuous affairs were blown open after a crack team of police detectives from Sango-Ota Area Command, Ogun State, went undercover to investigate the crime and returned with mind-boggling discoveries. Although the illegal affairs had been going on for years, daughters, father and mother had preferred to let it remain within the family circle.

According to them, they were still trying to seek out solution for their father’s inexplicable sexual yearnings for his biological daughters, when police stormed their home to arrest the man. One would have expected the daughters to have fought the sexual onslaught from their dad, especially since two are adults, but they didn’t.

They said: “Our father is sick. He doesn’t know what he is doing. We know what is wrong with him. We just need money to make him well. To arrest him and take him to court for the whole world to see and read about him and us is not the solution. We need spiritual help, not publicity.”

The first of the girls is 26 years old, second is 23, third is 19 and the last is 14. Ordinarily, these ladies could have decided to report him to police or family members.
But they didn’t, rather they said: “Our father is a victim, not a criminal.”

Our reporter left Lagos State as early as possible to seek out the father and hear this strange story and occurrences from the horse’s mouth.

A few minutes after our reporter introduced herself, Rashidi burst into heart-breaking tears. It was gathered that when Rashidi was arrested and presented with his alleged crime, he had vehemently denied it.
On Tuesday, however, speaking with our reporter, he had a sinking look on his face. Tears gathered in his eyes and rolled down his cheeks. He sniffed and used his T-shirt to wipe his tears.

He whispered: “Please help me! I need help! Yes, I have been having sexual intercourse with my four daughters. Something used to come upon me and take control of me. I’ll lose my senses and about two or three hours after having intercourse with any of my daughters, I will come back to my senses. This had been going on for years. I even married a second wife and visited a herbalist in order to check this malady, but all efforts failed. But it’s not every day I have sex with them. It is whenever that evil spirit comes upon me.”

Investigators had earlier discovered that the last sexual intercourse with his third and fourth daughters occurred on May 11, 12 and 13.
The arrest of Rashidi wouldn’t have been possible, but for the diligence of the policemen and women, who painstaking kept digging into the case after receiving information about the father that had been sexually preying on his daughters.

A police source said: “The police team launched investigation after receiving credible information that Rashidi was having sex with four of his daughters. The police team was determined to rescue the girls. They went into the community and put surveillance on the family, but found it difficult to penetrate. They knew they couldn’t make an arrest without first verifying the information they had received. They decided to go after one of the girls. They pretended to be preachers, speaking about God and salvation. They went to the place where one of the girls works and preached to her and then prayed for her.

“They then tactfully delved into issues that had to do with incest. They told her that God was willing and ready to deliver anyone caught up in that sort of situation. They gently asked her more questions about incest and whether she was experiencing it. It was at that point she opened up. The police team told her about her fundamental rights and human rights activists. They left.

“The following day, the police team returned to her work place in their uniforms. They introduced themselves as police. They had to pet her before she agreed to follow them to make statement. After her statement, the police went to the house and arrested the father.

The mother and other siblings were there. The father, right then and there, denied the allegation.
“When the mother got to the station, she admitted knowing about it. The three other daughters also confessed that their father had being having sex with them. Police carried out preliminary investigations and discovered that Rashidi used to have sex in his room with his daughters, while his wife is fast asleep or when the wife is not around. He also used to have sex with them outside the house.

“When police asked the daughters why they didn’t react against their dad, they said they too were under a spell. They said once he tells them to UnCloth, they would simply obey. Whenever their mother catches them, she would shout on her husband. But the woman has a medical condition, which if she shouts too much, could lead to her losing consciousness, for about three days.”

Speaking amidst tears, Rashidi said that he had been hearing voices in the past 13 years. The voices used to order him around. According to him, he hears the voices, but had never seen the speaker. He claimed that it was the voice that ordered him to be having sex with his daughters.

Rashidi, who introduced himself as a mechanic, security guard and commercial motorcyclist, said: “The first time the voice spoke to me was about 13 years ago. The voice ordered me on that fateful day to place three seats on each other. It asked me to go into the store and take a rope. It further instructed me to tie it to the ceiling fan, climb the mounted seats and placed the noose around my neck. I had already done all these, when my wife suddenly woke up.

“I don’t know what is wrong with me. I have no quarrel with anyone and I’m not indebted to anyone. Four years ago, I was riding motorcycle when the voice ordered me to park, and enter the river, but someone saved me. Whenever the voice comes, I lose my senses. After about three hours, my senses will return. I couldn’t tell anyone what I was going through.

I decided to go and tell a herbalist, who is close to me. He did some things for me, including spiritual bath, but it didn’t work. I continued to have sex with my daughters. I have spent a lot of money on this, trying to find a lasting solution. Just three weeks ago, the voice came while I was riding motorcycle. I stopped right in the middle of the road; vehicles could have crushed me. People shouted and called me a mad man.”

It was also discovered that Rashidi had attempted suicide several times, but often saved in the nick of time. Our reporter heard that his last attempt was mixture of chemicals, which he wanted to drink, but he was caught.

He cried: “I just want to take the chemicals and die. I even took a second wife because I thought it would check my sexual predilection towards my daughters, but it didn’t work. I still continue to leave my second wife’s house to my first, to have sex with my daughters.”

Rashidi is said to be the breadwinner of his family, daughters, wives and aged father. The father, who is about 90 years old, was said to have rushed down to Lagos after hearing that his son had been arrested. Since the old man got to Lagos to hear the story, he had been stooling nonstop.

The police station had been flooded with tears from Rashidi, his wife and daughters. One of his daughters, since his arrest, had embarked on a hunger strike. Others laid siege to the station.

Another of his daughters, who cried throughout her interview with our reporter, said that she had already made efforts to seek for solution. She had gone to Christian and Muslim clerics. She has also visited a herbalist. The verdict had always remained the same, unchanged.

Asked what the verdict was, she said: “They all said that my father is under a curse. The curse was placed on him by a woman, who he had offended. They all said that a spiritual work needed to be carried out. I guess that it was in the course of trying to find solution by visiting these men that policemen heard about our predicament.

“Whenever it comes upon him, he will start acting abnormally, insane. You will know that he was no longer in his right senses. And then he will come to us and order any of us to strip. Whatever spell is disturbing him, affects us too. When he orders me to strip, I wouldn’t know what I was doing.

I wouldn’t be able to refuse. We wouldn’t be able to fight or stop him. We just obey like we’re under a strong force. There was a midnight he called me outside our apartment. He ordered me to remove my panties and lay on the chair there. I simply obeyed him. He had sex with me right there. We were both no longer in our senses. About two to three hours after the act, we both came back to our senses and started crying.

“When I went out and discovered that someone cursed my father, I had to alert my mother. She told me that she too had made her findings and it was the same response. We were both trying to raise the money for the spiritual works before everything came out in the open.”

She added: “The pastor said that the spiritual work will cost us N30,000, the Alfa said N35,000, while herbalist said N20,000 plus. My father has a mental problem. We don’t want a court case.”

The herbalist that Rashidi ran to, seeking help, also came to pay him a visit in police custody. The herbalist told the police that Rashidi truly came to him for help and that he assisted him. The herbalist said that he didn’t know that what plagued Rashidi continued even after the work he did for him. He wished Rashidi had returned to tell that he was still having intercourse with his daughters.

Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi state, has been elected chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum.

He was elected at a meeting the APC governors held at Imo governor’s lodge in Abuja on Thursday night. Bagudu, whose election was unanimous, replaced Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state. Okorocha’s tenure will expire on May 29.

Cost of University education in Nigeria is too low, quality has been compromised' - Oby Ezekwesili

Nigeria's former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesil has said the cost of tertiary education in Nigeria has been reduced to the extent that quality has been compromised.

Speaking on Thursday at the launch of Edfin, Nigeria’s first educational microfinance bank, she advised that the federal government find a solution that does not compromise the quality of education.

Quote:“There is a matter of how do you share the cost of getting a tertiary education. Unfortunately, our society did not come to the understanding that even education financing does not have to be a problem.
You must have a solution that the pricing of education does not get taken down to the level where it cannot sustain quality. That is what’s going on now. We are taking down tertiary education to a level where a person is comfortable to pay almost N500,000 for the children in a top secondary school but once the children go into the university, their parents are ready to join them to protest about the pricing of university education. In the process of doing that, you are compromising quality and relevance” she said.
Proferring a solution, she said: “Those who have the capacity to pay should pay the right price for tertiary education and for those without the capacity to pay, edufinance and a subsidy from the federal government that is well designed will come to ensure that they are not left out of education.”

The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria said the country is in trouble because the crisis in the educational sector is not being addressed.
Quote:“Our country is in trouble because education is in crisis. A decade plus ago, I told the mission that if we did not address the crisis in education that in a matter of years. In fact, my prognosis at that time was that by 2020 that we will produce the most hardened criminals,”
“There are people who called me to say you said 2020, it happened earlier than that. As minister of education, I said the problem is not about funding. If you fund a dysfunction well, you will get a well-funded dysfunction” Ezekwesili said.

Man kills wife and son then hangs himself in Ikorodu

A commercial motorcyclist identified as Enife Omomo has allegedly killed his wife, Faith Omomo and their last child (name withheld) before hanging himself at No.12, Obafemi Eruja Street, off Mustapha Asha Street in the Aga area of Ikorodu, Lagos.

According to Taiwo Salami, a neighbour of the deceased, Charles Omomo, popularly called Baba Efe, his wife, Faith and their three children were all inside the apartment when the incident occurred.

He said while it was discovered that Omomo committed suicide, the cause of death of the wife and son is yet to be known. “I left home very early as usual with my motorcycle. After some hours, my wife called me that Baba Efe, his wife and their last child, Glorious were found dead inside their apartment,” Salami said.

Quote:“On getting home I saw a crowd in our compound. I entered the apartment of Baba Efe only to discover he had committed suicide, the wife lay on the floor dead and the son on the three-seater chair also dead. I was surprised because yesterday night, I saw both the wife and the husband sitting together as usual without any rancour. In fact, they were playing with their children around them. I don’t know what could have caused this sudden situation.
“Efe, the eldest daughter went to one of their family members, living nearby to report the development. On getting there, she screamed for help. The dead man used to be a motorcycle rider but a few months ago he stopped working because his motorcycle had developed a fault. The children also stopped going to school but I saw them yesterday and there was no sign of any problem among them.”
Another neighbour however said Omomo and his wife had been having issues in recent times.
Quote:“There was a time the husband and wife were fighting and the husband was accusing his wife of infidelity– that the wife must tell him the real father of the son– if not that nobody will be alive among them,” the neighbour was quoted to have said.  “As you can see, the children and their parents were together at the time of the incident and nothing happened to the two older girls. The mother and son whose matter is in contention were found dead and the father was also found to have committed suicide.”

Church in the UK evicts Nigerian family of 5 from its property where they lived rent-free since 2016

A family of Nigerian asylum seekers have been evicted from a Christian church after living in one of its properties since 2016.

All Nations Church in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, won a legal battle to remove the family of five from a four bedroom house it owns after they spent the last two years living in the property rent-free. The churh was started by Albert Cole, a medical doctor from Ghana.

The family, who had been living in the house since 2006, originally paid rent but because of their asylum seeker status they are not permitted to.

The church only learned of the family’s asylum seeker status two years ago after receiving a letter from Middlesbrough Council and since then were not able to charge the tenants rent or for utilities.

Following the discovery, the church said it tried to reach a compromise with the family but was unable to.
"I ask what wrong did we do?" the family told Teeside Live . "But we won't give up. We know that God will deliver."
The church’s actions have split the congregation. One All Nations Church member told Teeside Live that the decision had “saddened and sickened” her and said the church was “turning its back” on the family.
"We have bent over backwards to help them and this is the last resort,” pastor Ian Rowland told Teeside Live.
"We wanted to help and support them but two and a half years is a long time."

Critics of the church have said the eviction will leave the family homeless but Rowland maintains that they can access help from other sources.

"It's been two and a half years we have been doing this. There has been an incredible amount of generosity and compassion. It's difficult for them. They are a family with children. It's difficult for us as a church because churches are here to bless.
"But we can't keep doing this. There are other agencies they can access."

I inherited a failed state' - Governor Ibikunle Amosun

The out-going governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun says that Gbenga Daniel, his predecessor, handed over ‘a failed state’ to him in 2011.

He alleged that Gbenga Daniel handed over a state that was characterised by poor economy, deplorable infrastructure and insecurity, which prevented investors from investing in the state.

Amosun, who was represented by Taiwo Adeoluwa, secretary to the state government, spoke at a press conference to launch Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency. He said unlike him, Dapo Abiodun, governor-elect of the state, will inherit an economically viable state.

He mentioned some of the achievements of his administration to include increasing the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state and improving the ease of doing business in the state.

Quote:“When we came in 2011, Ogun State appeared to have failed as a State. Investors were running away from the State because of the high level of insecurity in the State but today, the State is ranked 4th on the list of State with the ease of doing business.
As at the last count, our activities as a government has attracted 473 mega companies which some investing as much as N2billion. Not only that, we took the IGR of the State from the paltry sum of N700million to N7billion per month. But we are not relenting on all these achievements.
We know we have been very successful, but we need to consolidate on the success we have achieved and that is why we are establishing this agency” Daily Trust quoted him to have said.
Amosun will return to the senate after winning his bid to represent Ogun central senatorial district.

The Anambra State Police Command has accused members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB of attacking its officers at their various points of duty in the state.

A statement released by the command says police officers that were sent out to destroy billboards, flags and insignia released by the group to inform the residents of the state on its May 30th sit-at-home order, were severely attacked by IPOB members today. The members of the proscribed group threw stones at the police officers, leaving many of them with serious injuries.

Photo: Edo Police parade seven women for stealing and selling two children; recover 4-year old sold at N850,000

The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday, paraded seven women for alleged theft and sale  of two children.

It was gathered that the children, aged two and four, were stolen in Utese Community by one Mary Paul in June, 2018.

Mary reportedly sold them to one Rita Eze in Delta State who in turn sold the four-year-old child to Comfort Dike John who runs an orphanage in Okigwe in Imo State.
The suspects are Comfort Dike John, Glory Onuoha (38), Adendu Ifeoma (40), Evangeline Akubor (38), Chinyere Okeke (39), one Ogechi (38) and Anioke Augustina (48).

Parading the suspects, spokesperson for the command, Chidi Nwanbuzor, said Mary Paul was a co-tenant of the mother of the children, and that the mother had entrusted the children in her care while going to the river.

Paul absconded with the children and sold them to Eze from Delta State at N450,000 and N300,000.

Rita in turn sold the children to two women in Delta and Imo states for N500,000 and N400,000, adding that the buyer in Imo State, Comfort Dike John, ran an orphanage.

“Comfort later sold the four-year old to Mrs. Augustina Anioke at N850,000, who adopted her without due process. Rita Eze, Joy Ode and Uju Favour are already in court and are remanded in Benin prison while Mary Paul who stole the kid is in prison in Ondo State. Sadly, the police is yet to recover the two-year-old girl because the person she was sold to is dead, but we are living no stone unturned in ensuring that she is recovered,” he assured.

He added that the command also arrested Kenneth Ofoke and Mercy Nwogha who are specialists in child stealing.

He said the suspects confessed that since they started the business, they had sold four children.

Chidi said the police recovered the children and reunited them with their parents while the suspects and their collaborators had been charged to court.

In an interview with journalists, Anioke, who had been married for 18 years with two kids, said she decided to adopt a child because her kids were all in school and she needed a baby to play with at home.
“I agreed to adopt the baby when I saw ‘government approved’ written on the sign board of the orphanage,” she added.

On her part, Comfort Dike said she bought the baby when the woman who brought her said the baby’s father was in the mortuary and that she would not be able to take care of her.

Nigeria May Slide Back To Recession - CBN Gov Warns

Godwin Emefiele

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele has raised the alarm that the country might  slide back to recession except urgent measures are taken to address the high rate of unemployment.

He said the country has made progress in the year under review but more efforts  were needed to reduce the staggering unemployment rate.

“From some of my concluding remarks, you may have observed whether you like it or not, there is global uncertainty that will unfortunately most certainly lead to another crisis.

“The question could be, how are we, as Nigerians, particularly our leaders, I’m talking of monetary and fiscal policy authority, preparing our country for the next set of crisis?

“We have luckily exited recession, we have seen recession pending downward to about 18.72 percent in 2017 to about 11. 37 percent today.

“We have seen reserves moving up but unfortunately, we still have issues and those issues bother around unemployment rate and those issues bother around how do we prepare our country,” he said.

He expressed his concerns when he delivered the Eminent Persons’ Lecture Series  with the theme: “Beyond the global financial crisis: Monetary policy under global uncertainty” at the University of Benin, yesterday.

The warning came exactly a week after he alerted Nigerians to expect tough and rough years.

“The road ahead is tough and rough. I want to appeal to our people to respect the policies of the country. We always put good policies in place, but implementation is a problem," he stated when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, as part of his reconfirmation hearing, blamed part of the country’s woes on disrespect for the rule of law.

Emefiele, who explained how the CBN led the country out of recession, however, warned that going forward, saboteurs and others who flout economic policies of the government will be prosecuted. He said despite the policies put in place by the Federal Government, implementation was always a challenge.

He also warned against the nation’s growing population and explained that if not properly managed, it will become a liability.

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a driver, who rammed into schoolchildren on Monday in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Punch Metro reports.

The driver, it was gathered, killed four of the children and injured 10 others.

The Oba Divisional Police Officer, Ifeanyi Abanaofor, told newsmen on Wednesday that the driver had been arrested.

He said, “The injured are about 10 and they have been taken to various hospitals for medical attention.

“The driver of the ill-fated vehicle, Mr Chibuzor Elebo, has been arrested.”

A source attributed the crash to the recklessness of Elebo, who was said to be answering a telephone call while driving an Infinity SUV when the incident occurred.

“He lost control and veered off his lane into the other lane before ramming into the kids, killing three instantly, while the fourth died at the hospital,” the source stated.

Another source, who claimed to be an eyewitness, told our correspondent that the pupils had just closed from the school for the day when the incident happened.

He said, “The schoolchildren came out in large numbers, having been dismissed at about 2pm on the fateful day.

“As they were going on the Oba/Nnewi Old Road, an Infinity SUV with number plate MYB 22 AAA was coming from the Onitsha direction and had brake failure and rammed into the pupils, killing four on the spot, while about 10 of them sustained injuries.
“The corpses of the deceased were deposited in the Gateway Hospital morgue, Oba.”

The President General, Aboji Akanano Union, Oba, Dozie Nweke, described the accident as “unfortunate and a great loss to the Oba people and the families of the pupils. The parents should take heart because what has happened has happened.”

It was gathered that two of the deceased pupils were siblings.

Supreme Court nullifies APC candidates’ elections, declares PDP winner of Zamfara State polls

The Supreme Court has nullified the elections of all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State in the 2019 general elections.

Delivering a unanimous judgment of the five-man panel led by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, the apex court declared the first runners-up in the 2019 general elections in the state as the winners of all the posts earlier declared to have been won by the APC and its candidates.

Justice Paul Galinje, who read the lead judgment upheld the decision of the Sokoto Division of the Court of Appeal to the effect that the APC did not conduct any valid primary election and as such had no candidate for any of the elections in the state.

He described the votes polled by the APC candidates in the elections as wasted, adding that the party and the candidates with the second highest votes and the spread in the various elections were the valid winners.

The judgment centres on the governorship, state House of Assembly and the National Assembly elections conducted in Zamfara State on February 23 and March 11, 2019.  APC candidates, including the outgoing governor of the Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, who was elected to the Senate, had won most of the offices contested for in the 2019 elections with the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates, placing first runners-up in the polls.

Shocking photos show the horrible state of the road leading to the International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos

Nigerians have reacted in shock after a web user shared photos of the horrible state of the road leading to the International Trade Fair complex in Lagos.

Lagos Trade Fair is located on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and that road has been abandoned for a while now that it has become a death trap.

The expressway has become almost unmotorable. As a result, there's always traffic along the road, especially from Trade Fair, past Iyana Iba and down to Okoko. The traffic starts as early as 4am and sometimes continues into midnight.

The potholes are extremely large and when it rains, a natural pool is formed at various spots on the road. Vehicles constantly get stuck in one pothole or the other, thereby worsening traffic.

Often, commuters are forced to get down and trek to beat traffic (as can be seen in the photo below."

Trailers constantly fall on the bad road and there have been instances where commuters were crushed. Earlier, in January, a tanker caught fire and it spread to surrounding cars and lives were lost (read here). Also, last October, a tanker caught fire while in heavy traffic and the fire spread to nearby cars (read here). Luckily no lives were lost.

Ann Cunningham, a BBC staff who visited Nigeria, recently raised awareness about the state of the road. She called the road a "disgrace" and warned that "the road alone will shorten your life if nothing else does" (read here).

There have been calls for the government to intervene but so far these calls have gone unheeded.

Detained Vulture In Adamawa Eats N30,000 In 6 Days – Police
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 05-24-2019, 12:49 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Kabiru R. Anwar,Yola

The police in Adamawa state said the vulture arrested in Maiha has so far eaten meat worth N30,000 after spending six days in detention. The vulture was arrested alongside a woman that owned it after residents complained that the bird’s presence created fear in the community.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said the command might incur more cost as it continued to detain the bird. He said investigation into the appearance of the bird in the area was still going on.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamu Audu Madaki, had earlier told journalists that the duo were apprehended following a formal complaint from a senior member of the community that the bird’s presence caused panic as it was considered a harbinger of impending insurgency attacks.

Madaki said an elder in Maiha complained that a woman had brought a vulture and that the last time someone kept three vultures Maiha, the area was invaded by insurgents in a matter of few days.

The police commissioner noted that since the community seemed to be disturbed by the presence of the vulture, he advised the man to lodge a complain with the Divisional Police Officer in Maiha which he did, leading to the eventual arrest of the woman and the vulture.

He explained that the police upon receipt of such complaints must launch an investigation to ascertain the credibility of the allegation with a view to taking the necessary action to maintain peace and harmony. “So, we want to ascertain what the vulture is meant for,” said Madaki.

Since the news of arrest of the woman and her vulture filtered members of public became curious with many peddling rumours that the vulture was a woman who turned to a bird in detention Maiha is one of the seven local government areas controlled by Boko Haram insurgents between 2014 and 2015 until the liberation of the territory by Nigerian military.

Nigerians across the country have described as most unfortunate and condemnable the death of over 600 Nigerians during the just concluded general elections.

This was at stakeholders gathered to undertake a review of the security challenges arising from the elections.
At the event held in Enugu were the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Maikobi, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Sulaiman Balarabe, the Enugu State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, civil society organizations, the media, among others.

Various speakers at the Forum blamed the rising cases of violence on politicians, their supporters, as well as security operatives.

The event was at the instance of SBM Intelligence and Gatefield Nig. Ltd, in collaboration with the Open Society Initiative for West Africa, OSIWA.

While kick-starting deliberations, Cheta Nwanze, the head of Research, SBM Intelligence lamented the high scale violence which trailed the elections.
In the group’s report presented to the stakeholders, it was disclosed that “thuggery, influenced by politicians and political parties, protest, election fraud, violence in battleground areas and vote buying impacted on the outcome of the elections.

“Same can be said for terrorism, especially in the North-eastern States of Yobe and Borno, and the activities of security agencies in some contentious States.”

While blaming low turnout of voters partly on the fatal clashes recorded in the months leading to the elections, SMB said “there were 161 verified incidents, which resulted in 626 deaths within the period between 16 November, 2018, the official start of the campaigning and the day of elections.”
The South-south recorded the highest incidents of violence, (59), while the North-West had the highest number of fatalities (172), with the South-East recording the least incidents of violence and fatalities, 7 and 14, respectively.

It concluded that by voters’ admission, “the 2019 general elections in Nigeria were greatly flawed. Some of the blame adduced to INEC’s shoddy preparation for the elections, some electoral officers’ willingness to participate in fraud and politicians’ lack of sportsmanship.”

In his remarks, the GOC, said the military were highly professional during the elections, even at the face of provocation by some overzealous politicians and their supporters.

He called for an attitudinal change on the part of the politicians, who should strive to see political office as a call for service and not a do-or-die affair.
Similarly, the Enugu State Police Commissioner, Balarabe attributed the peaceful elections in Enugu State to synergy among the various security agencies.

He said “based on the training we received prior to the elections, all the security operatives involved in the exercise knew their job and it was carried out with utmost professionalism devoid of bias. There was a complete synergy among all the security agencies in the State and that is why we had a violence-free exercise in Enugu State.”

Meanwhile, in one of the presentations at the Forum, entitled “Root Causes of Electoral Violence during the 2019 Elections”, Dr. Maurice Ogbonnaya, from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPPS, said with the wild scale violence and manipulations, “young people are losing hope in the election system. They do not believe that the election represents the voice of the people.”
Ogbonnaya added that “elections ought not to cost the life of any Nigerian. Even if it is one person, it is a loss too many.”

Dr. Freedom Onuoha of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, toed same line, blaming the political tensions on the over-concentration of power and resources at the centre.

Onuoha, a lecturer at the Political Science Department, said power and resources should be decentralized, adding that “security chiefs would always do the bidding of the man at the helm of affairs in other to not just retain their positions but attain higher ranks.
On his part, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Anambra State, Nkwachukwu Orji, who also made presentations at the event identified major challenges during the elections to include “insufficient assessment of trouble spots; unavailability of deployment information; insufficient number of security agencies; poor response to situations, late of deployment of senior officers, among others.

A communique is being expected at the end of the 2-day Forum.

Former National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olabode George, has slammed a former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, for describing ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as a religious and ethnic bigot.

Pa George, a former military governor of Ondo State, spoke to journalists at his Ikoyi office in Lagos.
He accused Lamido of disrespecting Obasanjo, whom, according to him (George) was a concerned nationalist.

[url=https://dailypost.ng/2019/05/18/obasanjo-speaks-insecurity-nigeria-reveals-govt-must-contact/]Obasanjo had recently alleged that there was a grand plot by some elements to foist a Fulani and Islamic agenda on Nigeria
 and other West African countries.

But in a quick response, Lamido said Obasanjo should not allow his displeasure with the current administration make him a religious and ethnic bigot.

George said Obasanjo has the right to express his observation over the incursion and increased activities of herdsmen in the South West.

He said, “Things have never been this bad in this country and the way that we are going about it is creating unnecessary division. What is our problem as Nigerians?

“When Obasanjo left office as military head of state in 1979, a lot of Yoruba people blacklisted him saying he should have handed over to Pa Awolowo instead of a Fulani man. There was no name that he was not called, but Obasanjo is a straightforward person.

“Recently, he made a comment as an observation that things are not going right in this country. The incursion of herdsmen is disturbing.

“He is also a farmer and a lot of farmers are complaining bitterly that their farms are being ravaged. My friend, the former governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido accused Obasanjo who has always been a nationalist of being a bigot.

“What Lamido said was absolute nonsense and an insult. Does he know what Obasanjo suffered? Was it not the same man who made Lamido whom he is by giving him the opportunity to become a minister?

“But he is now turning round to call him a bigot. Why did Lamido not find out from Obasanjo why he made that statement?

“Wole Soyinka made the same observation that Obasanjo made and you know that both men are not usually on the same page.

“Maybe we should reverse roles and get some Agbekoya farmers from the South West to go to Lamido’s village and start ravaging farmlands, and then we would know what he would say.

“What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. I invite Lamido to come to the South West and I will take him round the villages so that he can see what these farmers who are losing their livelihoods are feeling.

“Our people are complaining about the sudden incursion and increased activities of herdsmen in the South West; why can’t Lamido see through that prism?

“We should be careful about some of the reckless comments that we make. Does it mean if tomorrow an Igbo man becomes the president, Igbo traders will now carry cutlasses and chase everyone away from their villages?

“Buhari should use his position as the President of the Fulani herdsmen in West Africa to calm these people down. It is a challenge to him.”

The out-going Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari, on Thursday said the increasing rate of unproductive population in the country constitutes a time bomb and must be addressed.

Yari, who is also the out-going governor of Zamfara, stated this during the valedictory session of the National Economic Council (NEC) held at the State House, Abuja on Thursday, NAN reports.

The governor who said: “We are sitting on a time bomb’’, however, stressed the need for urgent actions against the alarming increase in the number of unproductive population in the country.

He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to expand the economy by way of spending more on the nation’s agricultural sector to check the menace of youth redundancy in the country.

“I will say, yes, government has done tremendously well in terms of expanding the economy through agriculture by spending over N200 billion through the anchor borrower programme but we need to do more because we all agree that agriculture is the mainstay of this economy.

“It provides over 80 per cent of the employment. So, if two trillion naira can be spent yearly on oil development we need to increase our spending on agriculture too.

“With what we are seeing as governors especially from the zone where I come from, the rate of population growth, if nothing is done to address it, I am afraid Mr Chairman, we are sitting on a time bomb. And that’s the truth.

“Mr Chairman, we have a very gigantic job and we have to start now. If other associations are doing nothing, we have to lay a foundation otherwise in the next 10 to 15 years if we did not plan properly, we will be faced with a serious problem.

“I think even Niger Republic that is not up to the size of Kano State, they have their plan on the population; they know the number of people they have, the dead, new born and all. Mr Chairman, if Nigeria must move forward we must expand our economy,’’ he said.
On ways to boost the nation’s revenue base, Yari said that “proactive measures must be taken to ensure that some laws are repealed most especially the ones that have to do with NNPC, the issue of Offshore, Royalties Payment and other issues’’.

He advised that revenue generating agencies of the government should be given targets, saying “with my experience from 2011 to date I think we are just giving them free hand.

“We need to give them a kind of target even the NNPC itself. What the NNPC is spending especially when it comes to the issue of cash call, it’s in trillions but what comes into the basket for two hundred million people to share is very meager’’.

Yari, who officially introduced the Chairman-elect of the forum, Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, thanked his colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve them in the last four years.
Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, who spoke on behalf of governors from the South West at the event, described members of the council as the set of governors that the subsequent council should emulate, because of their team spirit.

He noted that they were able to talk freely and express themselves, without actually considering whether somebody was PDP or APC, saying their common objectives was the economic issues that pervaded the whole country.

He said: “Considering the fact that we all came in when we had a backlog of salaries, I want to congratulate us because when we came in almost about 27 states could not pay salaries.
“And then, two subsequent meetings led to Mr president giving us the intervention which also led to the clearing of the backlog.

“So, we like to say a big thank you to the president and vice-president for taking us through that resession.’’

Out-going Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo, who also spoke on behalf of South East governors , commended Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, for their passion and love for the country.

Okorocha, who lamented that he would be missing his colleagues, threw the venue of the meeting into loud laughter when he jokingly advised vice-president Osinbajo to always distance himself from Adams Oshiohmole and Nasir El-rufa’i.

Okorocha, who is believed to have `political `political misunderstanding’ with Oshiohmole jokingly said: “I feel like a member of the family when I look at my left and right, even the worst of them like the Oshiohmoles and El-Rufais even within this I still feel like member of the family.

“This people I mention, Mr chairman (Osinbajo) I do not know why you share one thing in common with them. May I request you henceforth to distance yourself from them.

“I will miss this chamber really and I don’t know where I will meet people like El-Rufai again to talk to.

“All my colleagues especially the outgoing ones have contributed a lot today to what we have as Nigeria.’’
The governor also advised the Council to set targets for state governors so as to encourage performance in states.

Hakeem Bamgbola: Nigerians Will Elect Tinubu As President In 2023
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-24-2019, 10:50 AM - No Replies

Hon Hakeem Bamgbola is the Vice Chairman Lagos Central Senatorial District of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, the former State Secretary of the party speaks on developments in Lagos State and other issues of national interests. Excerpts:

The governor- elect of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be sworn-in in few days’ time. What are your expectations from him?

The expectations from our party members and Lagosians as a whole is that we want developments that will take the economy of Lagos state to the next level. We all know that it is the third largest economy in Africa. I believe that with the coming on board of Sanwo-Olu, Lagos might attain the top spot in the economy of Africa. There are lots of expectations in all sectors because what I consider as priority may not be the thing that matters to you. However everybody wants a state that is secured, cleaner and economically viable. I know that Sanwo-Olu will deliver on all the promises he has made. I will appeal to Lagosians to give him their cooperation so that he can perform to the expectations of all.

Governor Nasir El- Rufai of Kaduna recently came to Lagos and said there is need to retire political godfathers in Lagos. What is your take on that?

I don’t know how many godfathers he has retired in Kaduna because he never mentioned their names. He only said that he has retired all the godfathers in Kaduna state. We know that Lagos is a peculiar state and we have the leadership that guides us which has been there for us for a long time. I will only say El- Rufai is playing to the gallery. He can’t do anything about the leadership in Lagos state and we still believe in the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as our father and leader in APC, who, as governor from 1999 to 2007 laid the foundation for the Lagos of today.

Why do you think it has been difficult for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the governorship election in Lagos since 1999?

It is because of the leadership of Asiwaju Tinubu. He is leader that embraces everyone. He is a man with a large heart. No matter your gravity of sin, when you are remorseful and you come back to him, he forgives easily and he will even give you a greater role to play in the party. I can cite several examples in the past and present to back up this. In fact, some of our members who angrily decamped to PDP, having realised that they are in political wilderness in PDP, they came back to APC and today, they are still playing key roles in the party. Also, he doesn’t take unilateral decision. If there are serious issues in the party that needs to be addressed, Asiwaju will table it before the Governors Advisory Council (GAC). He is also accessible to everybody, irrespective of your position in the party. He is a leader who is full of empathy and will inconvenience himself to make others comfortable. That is one of the things that distinguish Asiwaju Tinubu from other leaders in the country. That is why we are like a united family in APC and we have always recorded resounding victories in the governorship and other elections conducted from 1999 till date.

What are your expectations from President Buhari as he will also begin his second term in few days’ time?

My appeal to the President is that we need to do more. He did well in his first term and that is why appreciate Nigerians renewed his mandate but he can still do more. I am glad the theme of his second term is ‘Next Level’ whereby he has promised to consolidate on the gains recorded in his first term. Also, he needs to improve on the economy. If we are sincere, the economy is not that stable for now. On his cabinet, those he will be bringing on board now must be people of vision who believe in his agenda and are ready to make sacrifices to ensure all the goals are met.

There are rumours that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu might contest the presidential election in 2023. Do you think he has what it takes to govern the country?

Like you said, it is still speculations but the general belief among Nigerians is that based on his records in Lagos State, if we can have someone like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President, Nigeria will benefit a lot from his leadership. People know him as visionary leader, a highly detribalised Nigerian who has a wide network across the country. They also know that he is a leader who has a knack for identifying talents and also believes in grooming new set of leaders many of whom are holding key positions in the country today. We are hopeful that in 2023, the presidency will be zoned to the South- West and if he indicates interest in contesting, I am hopeful that all over the country, Nigerians will troop out to elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president of this country.

As shared by Yenne.....
Girl who attempted to blackmail a young boy over her missing pants was caught

Yenne Ebobrah writes:

'What a life? There's nothing we will not see in this big world. It was unfortunate that this one in particular happened in my presence in AG-CITY .

As you can the pictures, the boy was accused of stealing pants by that girl. He was even beaten by some angry mobs if not for the intervention of some good Samaritans who came for his rescue. When I got to the scene I also asked the boy if truly he did it and he said he didn't that he thinks Someone is trying to set him up. To shorten the long story, the girl's younger sister of about 6-7years old girl confessed that the boy was innocent that she saw her elder sister with the pants in her hand and putting them in the boys bag. As usual the angry mobs ordered for her beat and she was beaten and ill-treated and later confessed that she did it because the boy was been pompous. According to her, the boy told her he has cars and houses in sapele, so that was why she accused him of stealing the pants. The boy was later freed while the girl got the beaten of her life'

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 24TH MAY.

HE KNOWS YOUR DESIRE

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mark 11:24).

Due to the misconception of the purposes of prayer, when some Christians read the verse of Scripture above, what comes to their mind is making requests of God. But the scripture needs to be well understood. Jesus didn’t say, “What things soever ye ask for, when ye pray….” Rather, He said, “What things soever ye desire , when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them….” He didn’t say you should ask!

This means, when you’re praying, whether in praise or in worship, and you have a desire, just believe that that desire has been granted you. You don’t need to ask Him. The Bible says, “…for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:8). He knows what you desire; He knows your heart.

Therefore, your times of prayer aren’t times of asking Him for your desires, yet you can receive anything during prayer. Prayer primarily is a fellowship, communication with your heavenly Father. As you fellowship with Him, because He knows exactly what’s on your mind, you say, “Thank you Lord, for they’re granted!” You may not even mention them; but your Father who sees the heart, will grant your desires.

As you speak in tongues in fellowship, praising and worshipping the Lord, receive whatever you desire of Him. Be specific and declare that they’re granted you. This is a principle in the Kingdom of God. Practise it, and you’d be amazed at the result. Praise God!

PRAYER

Righteous Father, you’re great and greatly to be praised. Your love reaches to the heavens, and your faithfulness is everlasting. Your greatness is unsearchable, and the depth of your wisdom is beyond comprehension! Thank you for granting me all that I require for life and for godliness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, I thank You for making every favour and earthly blessing come to me in abundance, so that I may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require no aid or support, and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation.

I thank You for Your word of power that's in my heart, and in mouth even now! I am moving forward by the power of the Holy Spirit, making progress with giant strides, and waxing stronger every day, in health, prosperity, and success, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Grass Cutting Scandal: EFCC Presents First Witness Against Babachir Lawal, Others

Grass Cutting Scandal: EFCC Presents First Witness Against Babachir Lawal, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today Thursday, May 23rd, presented its first witness, Hamza Adamu Buwai, as the Commission opened its case in the ongoing trial against the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, and three others, before Justice Jude Okeke of a Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, Maitama Abuja.

Lawal along with his younger brother, Hamidu David Lawal; Suleiman Abubakar; Apeh John Monday and two companies: Rholavision Engineering Ltd, and Josmon Technologies Ltd, were re-arraigned on an amended 10-count charge bordering on fraud, diversion of funds and criminal conspiracy to the tune of over N500 Million (Five Hundred Million Naira) only.

At the resumed hearing, the witness, a civil servant with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Buwai, who was the Head of Finance, Presidential Initiative For North East, PINE, attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, told the court that he was responsible for all payments made by PINE to contractors, consultants and staff payments.

According to him, Rholavision Engineering Ltd was the consultant for the removal of invasive plant species irrigation programme and construction of water gates along the River Kamadugu Yobe River, which is about 250km but awarded the contract to Josmon Technologies for the alleged clearance of the invasive plant species and the irrigation programme.

The witness further narrated to the court how he knew the companies adding that after the approval of the procurement process to the companies, that the Consultant, Rholavision took the contractors, Josmon Technologies Ltd; to the site of the project, were they commenced work.

Buwai stated that when the project was almost completed, Rholavision issued Coalition Certificate to the government demanding for payment for the 95% of the job done, which was submitted to him, as the Accountant for payment.

He explained that the documents in the official file for payment, includes Certificate of Corporation, Tax Clearance of the Companies, Registration of the companies with Bureau for Public Procurement, BPP, PENCOM Certificate, Industrial Training Fund Registration and letter for the award of contract.

According to him, after verifying the documents, he requested that payment be made to company after the approval by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, in the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, which is under the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The witness further told the court that the contract was valued at about N272, 500,000 (Two Hundred and Seventy Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira), only adding that it was based on the 95 per cent conclusion agreement that the companies were paid the sum of N258, 000,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Eight Million Naira) but based on the paucity of funds at the that time, they were paid N225, 000,000 (Two Hundred and Twenty Five Million Naira) only.

Explaining further, Buwai told the court the different processes that the payment vouchers go through before payment are made adding that the payment went to the bank account of Josmon Technolgies Ltd, stressing that payment of the consultants was based on the performance of the contactors.

He said after the evaluation of the performance of the contractors, the consultant, Rholavision Engineering Ltd, was paid 50 percent of their fees, which was around N3.5 million (Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira), only for consultancy fee which he claimed was at 2.5 percent of the total money and that the payment voucher was raised for the payment, which also went through the due process of the government.

However, the Prosecution counsel, Offem Uket, prayed the court to tender the payment vouchers raised in the name of Rholavisio Engineering Ltd and Josmon Technologies Ltd with the attached documents.

But counsel to the fifth defendant, Joseph Uzor, opposed the admissibility of the document, alleging that some of the documents were not the original copies, adding that they are public documents and required to fulfil section 104 of the Evidence Act.

The prosecution counsel, however, told the court that the documents are original adding that the documents being referred to; are attached to the payment vouchers, which is also the original, explaining that the said section 104, does not apply to this, as it is a single document in its whole form.

Justice Okeke after listening to the arguments said he is minded to give a considered ruling as similar objections may arise and adjourned the case for a considered ruling to June 17 and 18, 2019, for ruling and continuation of trial.

Pakistani doctor accused of infecting almost 500 kids with HIV by reusing syringes

A doctor has been arrested and is under investigation for allegedly infecting hundreds of children in a single Pakistani city with HIV by reusing syringes.

Muzaffar Ghangro, who has AIDs, was accused by at least 10 families of infecting their children with HIV in Ratodero, in Sindh province, Pakistan. But Ghangro has denied the charges, saying he didn't do anything intentionally.

In the past month, more than 600 people, most of them children between one month and 15 years old, have been diagnosed with HIV in the area in what has become an HIV epidemic.

According to reports from NPR and the Associated Press, parents in April began to notice lasting fevers in their children and took them to a nearby medical center for testing. By around April 24, 15 children ages 2 to 8 had tested positive for HIV. Local officials then set up a camp where children and their parents could be screened for the virus and the results were alarming.

As of mid-May, 410 children and 100 adults in Larkana, a city in Pakistan’s Sindh province, had tested positive for HIV, the Associated Press reported. Those numbers have since climbed to 494 children and 113 adults, according to NPR.

The recent outbreak is now also being linked to major failures in the health care system, according to NPR. Most doctors in the town are untrained and many practice folk medicine, and diseases are often spread through the reuse of syringes, piercings done with unsanitary equipment, and a lack of standards for blood transfusions, the BBC reported.

Atiku Abubakar calls for the arrest of Lai Mohammed

Atiku Abubakar calls for the arrest of Lai Mohammed

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has raised alarm over an alleged plan by some people to cause crisis in parts of the country and accuse him of being responsible for the skirmishes.

According to him, the plan, being planned by “unscrupulous and anti-democratic elements,” for coming weeks, was aimed at smearing his personality.

Atiku made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by his media adviser, Paul Ibe. He said the strategy was for some people to be apprehended for causing skirmishes and be made to mention Atiku and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party as their sponsors.

The former Vice President also called for the arrest of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, for his unsubstantiated allegations against him.

Quote:The statement reads, “We wish to blow the whistle as an early-warning alert of the grandiose scheme being put together by some unscrupulous elements aimed at jeopardising the reputation of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar in the coming days and weeks.
By the merit of what is beginning to unfold, there are plans to create some upsets across the country whereby alleged perpetrators of such crimes will engage in phantom names-dropping of Atiku Abubakar and some senior personalities in the Peoples Democratic Party.
Already, we are abreast of some other plans to plant fictitious stories in some mushroom media outlets aimed at discrediting Atiku and his political party, the PDP.  It, therefore, becomes preponderant that we alert the public of this demonic plan and to say that it will be imprudent to compromise the peace and security of Nigerians in order to score a cheap political goal.
Towards this end, and for the umpteenth time, we call on the Federal Government to be awake to its responsibilities of providing security and ensuring peace, and to desist from actions and utterances that are capable of exposing our fault lines.
It is very unsettling that senior administration officials, especially those who are the mouthpiece of government will make reckless but calculated comments to tarnish the image of Atiku Abubakar and government will sit idly on it.
With the conclusion reached by relevant security outfits that there is no evidentiary proof to back the claim by Lai Mohammed that the opposition was planning to upstage the government, we demand that the information minister should be arrested for a breach of security and an apology rendered to Atiku Abubakar and the PDP.”

FG board set up panels to analyse Bobrisky's new movie and may ban it

The National Film and Video Censors Board has set up three panels to analyse a new movie starring popular Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky.

The movie titled, "Bobrisky in Love" features Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

In the movie, Bobrisky plays the role of a transgender who travelled out of the country as a man named Cherechi but returned to the village as a woman named Cherry B, to the shock of his fiancee and relatives.

A top official of the NFVCB told The Punch that three separate panels have been set up at the zonal levels to analyse and classify the movie and it could be banned seeing as Nigeria has laws that prohibit homosexuality, therefore work of arts that promote it cannot be endorsed by the government.

He said, according to the publication: "We have set up three different panels to view the movie which was given to us by the producers for classification and review.

"For the purpose of fairness and objectivity, we will not give specific details since evaluation is still ongoing but note that any movie that promotes homosexuality in contravention of our laws cannot be endorsed.

"Latest by next week we will deliver a verdict on the movie. If the movie is banned, it would be communicated to the producers and our enforcement team would mop up all copies of the film on the market and defaulters would be apprehended and fined appropriately."

Alleged N2bn fraud: Court revokes bail, orders arrest of ex Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and Nasir Nasko

Justice A. B. Aliyu of the Federal High Court in Minna, Niger State on Thursday, May 23, 2019, revoked the bail granted to the former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and the former state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Gado Nasko.

The judge, who was visibly angry over the absence of ex-Governor Aliyu and Nasko in court despite the issuance of hearing notice, also ordered bench warrant against the duo for disrespect to court.

EFCC is prosecuting Babangida Aliyu and Nasko, following their alleged involvement in about N2billion money laundering and other financial crimes. The accused persons were formerly arraigned before Justice Bogoro Yelin where they pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence.

But Justice Yelin has been transferred to another jurisdiction while he is presently part of judges handling disputes at the Elections Petitions Tribunals. The matter was later assigned to Justice Aliyu who is handling the matter de novo (afresh) while the hearing notices were issued to the parties over the fresh arraignment of Babangida Aliyu and Nasko.

When the matter came up today, none of the accused persons was present in court just as their lawyers were absent. Lawyer to one of the accused persons, Mr Osuman Mamma (SAN) was said to have written to the court that he was before an election petitions tribunal.

But the senior advocate reportedly refused to send a lawyer to represent him in court. The development prompted the judge to revoke the bail granted to the defendants and later ordered the warrant of arrest against the accused persons.

The judge consequently adjourned the case till Monday, May 27, 2019.

User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: thuanh - 05-24-2019, 05:50 AM - No Replies

Do vậy nên thành viên nào like trang fanpage cũng thấy.

Over 100 suspected homeless people allegedly evacuated from the Redemption Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, were yesterday dumped at different locations in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The destitute comprised couples with their young children, middle-aged men and women as well as the elderly.
It was learnt that policemen and security personnel of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) raided the worship ground in the early hours of yesterday and apprehended the victims.

The security agents were said to have bundled the destitute into waiting vehicles and drove them to Abeokuta under the cover of the night.
The sight of the destitute at Oke-Sokori, Kuto and Iyana Mortuary areas of Abeokuta sparked tension among residents yesterday.

Rumours that some of the victims might have been used for money rituals also spread like wildfire, even as angry residents rained curses on those responsible for their plight.

Some of the destitute, who claimed to have spent between six months and one year at the Redemption Camp, accused the church authorities of victimisation.
The victims explained that the RCCG security operatives with policemen indiscriminately rounded them up during vigil service midnight on Tuesday and threw them into waiting vehicles which eventually took them to Abeokuta.

A 38-year-old businessman, who is one of the victims, Emmanuel Obi, explained that he was at the Redemption Camp for the Holy Ghost Service, where he left his wife and headed to Lagos State to buy some goods.

Obi, who hails from Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, said when he returned, he learnt that his wife and six-month-old baby had been raided and kept in police custody within the camp, hence, his decision to join them.

Another victim, Priscilla Okonkwo, told our correspondent that she came to the camp from Ajangbadi in Lagos State because of her accommodation challenges.

The 42-year-old native of Abia State, who cuddled her two-year-old daughter, lamented her eviction from the church premises.

But when contacted on the telephone yesterday, the Head of Media, RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, absolved the church of any blame.

Olubiyi denied the allegation that the church forcibly ejected the destitute from its premises.
According to him, what the church did was simply to purge the camp of miscreants and others with criminal tendencies.

He said: “We have a system through which we screen those who genuinely come for prayers. We also have an approved way of taking care of the destitute in the church of God.

“Whenever anyone comes for prayer, we do ensure that we properly document their data in our register to prevent criminal situations. But those ones you see illegally found their ways into the church.

“Some of them were screened for the purpose of knowing their challenges and those with genuine accommodation problems were assisted. But you will discover that they change their addresses and still return to the church.”

Soyinka Advises FG To Listen To Obasanjo’s Comment On Fulanization/islamization

Wole Soyinka has advised the FG to listen to Obasanjo’s comment on Fulanization and Islamization, even though he is not in good terms with him.  Recall that the former Nigerian President who lamented over how how threats of Boko Haram and Herdsmen were not initially taken serious, linked it all to an Islamic agenda. However the Nobel Laureate who spoke at the Africa Day 2019 organised by United Bank for Africa (UBA), stated that we should be careful not to be too dismissive over the matter.

Soyinka who advised the FG to listen to Obasanjo’s comment on Fulanization and Islamization, added that when one talks about Uthman Dan Fodio, what comes to people’s mind is threat to dip the Koran into the Atlantic Ocean. He said;

“We should be careful not to be too dismissive over the matter. The Federal Government is leaving aside the substance, which is the high level of kidnapping, youth suicide and terrorism in the country. I support unity in Africa but we need to particularize the area of unity we seek. Even Boko Haram also tries to unify everybody

“When you talk about Uthman Dan Fodio, what comes to people’s mind is threat to dip the Koran into the Atlantic Ocean. There are many people in this controversy. My feeling is that the response of Minister of Information shows that they are leaving behind the substance, and worried about the language."

ASUU Threatens To Go On Strike, Says FG Is Reluctant To Implement The 2019 Deal

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that its members should not be held responsible if there is any disruption in the University system, as the Federal Government had not shown commitment to carrying out the 2019 Memorandum of Action.

ASUU National President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, stated this at a briefing in Abuja, to give an update on the ongoing renegotiation with the government and to clear the air over the N25billion confirmed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to have been approved for universities.

Ogunyemi said the N25billion was meant to be a part-payment of the Earned Academic Allowances and should have been released between February 15 and 28, 2019, as agreed. But this was not done.

FFK I Am Glad Obasanjo & Soyinka Know Fulanisation Of Nigeria Agenda Is Real
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-23-2019, 04:23 PM - No Replies

The statements of former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo over what he termed "the Fulanisation agenda" infuriated the presidency few days back and they have now threatened Obasanjo to withdraw the statement and apologize to the presidency. But OBJ as he is fondly called have vehemently refused.

On Tuesday, Prof. Wole Soyinka expressed the same fear similar to what Chief Obasanjo released on his press release. Femi Fani-Kayode has for long being expressing this same fears but people tend not to take it seriously because he is an ardent critic to APC and President Buhari's government.

FFK is however happy that notable Nigeria are now seeing what he saw and have been shouting about. He tweeted this this morning...

I am glad that Baba OBJ and Prof. Wole Soyinka agree on one thing: that the Fulanisation agenda is real. I am glad that they have both cultivated the sincerity of purpose and courage to join the rest of us and speak out against this great evil that seeks to consume our nation.

Nigeria must prepare for the next global economic crisis — CBN Godwin Emefiele says

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that Nigeria must prepare for the next global economic crisis.

Emefiele said this while delivering a lecture titled: ‘Beyond the Global Financial Crisis: Monetary Policy under Global Uncertainty,’ at the University of Benin, Benin, Edo State yesterday Wednesday, May 22nd.

Emefiele who recently got re-appointed as the governor of the apex bank, said although the country had made progress in strengthening the economy, more efforts must be made to cushion the Nigerian economy against the impending global economic crisis.

Quote:“From some of my concluding remarks, you may have observed, whether you like it or not, there is global uncertainty that will, unfortunately, most certainly lead to another crisis. The question could be, how are we as Nigerians, particularly our leaders, I am talking of monetary and fiscal policy authorities, how are we preparing our country for the next crisis?
“We have luckily exited recession; we have seen recession pending downward to about 18.72 per cent in 2017 to about 11. 37 per cent today. We have seen the reserve moving up but unfortunately we still have issues and those issues border on the unemployment rate and those issues border on how we prepare our country''.

Senator Adeleke sues police IG, AIG over his recent detention

Senator Ademola Adeleke has sued the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, for his detention by the police in Abuja on May 6.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 2018 Osun State governorship election through his lawyer, Kanmi Ajibola, is seeking the enforcement of his fundamental rights to personal liberty and right to freedom of movement at the Osun State High Court.

Joined in the suit are the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 11, Leye Oyebade; an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Simon Lough; and an Assistant Superintendent of Police, John Faluyi.

In his ruling, Justice S.O. Falola ordered the police not to arrest or detain the senator pending the determination of the substantive case before him. He made reference to the ruling of Justice I.E. Ekwor of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who granted Adeleke permission to travel to the United States on  May 7th for medical attention.

Justice Falola observed that the ruling of the Federal High Court had prevented the respondents from arresting or detaining the applicant. The judge said he had to allow the order made by Ekwor J. of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in charge No, FHC/ABJ/CR/156/2018 on  May 3,  2019 to continue to operate.

Justice Falola subsequently issued Form 48 against the police, asking them to take notice of consequence of disobedience of court order. He then adjourned the case  to June 17, 2019.

Photos: EFCC docks man for N3.2m Facebook scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 22, 2019 arraigned one Abubakar Isiyaku before Justice Sa'adatu Ibrahim of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano, Kano State on a one-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

A statement released by the antigraft agency says Isiyaku was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the nominal complainant Mohammad Adamu Babandaji, who alleged that sometimes in April 2017, he received a friend request on Facebook from the defendant who posed as a former class mate.

[Image: 61354988_2340470835975393_69084509957856...e=5D5FC44A]

Babandaji innocently accepted the friend request thinking that it was his lady friend.

Subsequently, Isiyaku started making financial requests from the complainant up to the point that he asked to borrow N3,260,000 which Babandaji graciously transferred to him via his First Bank account.

Isiyaku claimed that his sister was ill and that he needed some money for treatment. After making the payment, Babandji realised that he had been duped.

The charge reads:

Quote:“That you, Abubakar Isiyaku, sometimes in March 2017, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, misrepresented yourself on Facebook as a female colleague to one Mohammed Babandaji and obtained the sum of ?3,260,000.00 (Three Million Two Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira only) from him through the First Bank of Nigeria belonging to Aisha Mohammed under the pretence that you had family health challenges, which pretence you knew to be false, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act. 2006 and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act.”

He pleaded “not guilty” when the charge was read to him.

Prosecuting counsel, Micheal Ojo requested a date for hearing in view of the plea of the defendant.

Defence counsel, T. M. Edema, moved an application for the bail of his client.

Ojo, however, opposed the application in a seven-paragraph counter-affidavit duly deposed to by an operative of the EFCC dated May 21, 2019 praying the court to refuse the application.

After listening to the arguments, Justice Ibrahim, adjourned the case to June 13, 2019 for ruling on bail application and ordered that Isiyaku should be remanded in EFCC custody.

Electricity Generation Falls To 2,616MW, Six Plants Idle
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Nigeria's electricity generation has fallen to 2,616MW as it was further gathered that six power plants in different parts of the country are idle.

The total power generation declined to 3,978.5MW as of 6.00am on Monday from 4,297MW on Sunday. It further fell to 2,616MW, following the heavy rainfall in Lagos which damaged some power facilities and worsened supply in parts of the state.

While its been confirmed that electricity generation has fallen to 2,616MW, six power plants, namely Alaoji NIPP, Olorunsogo NIPP and Ihovbor NIPP, Gbarain NIPP, AES IPP and ASCO IPP, were idle as of 6.00am on Tuesday. A total generation capacity of 2,443.2MW was said to be unavailable as of 6.00am on Tuesday as a result of line constraints (544MW), low load demand by electricity distribution companies (1,749.2MW) and water management (150MW).

Several Advantages of Freeze Dry Machine
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: gfdryermachine - 05-23-2019, 09:26 AM - No Replies

There are various drying methods such as sun drying, boiling, oven drying, spray drying, and vacuum drying, but ordinary drying methods are usually carried out at temperatures above 0℃. The products dried will shrink the size and harden the texture. Most of the volatile components are lost, some heat-sensitive substances are denatured and deactivated, and some substances are even oxidized. Therefore, the dried product has a large difference in properties compared with that before drying. The Freeze Dry method is basically carried out below 0℃, that is, in the state where the product is frozen, and only when the residual moisture content of the product is lowered in the later stage is the temperature above 0℃, but generally, it does not exceed 40℃. Under vacuum conditions, when the water vapor is directly sublimated, the drug remains in the frozen ice shelf, forming a sponge-like porous structure, so the volume after drying is almost constant. Before using it again, as soon as you add water for injection, it will dissolve immediately. GF Freeze Dry Machine has some advantages over other machines.
* Many heat-sensitive substances will not be denatured or inactivated.
* When dried at low temperatures, some of the volatile components in the material are lost.
* During the freeze-drying process, the growth of microorganisms and the action of enzymes cannot work, so that the original traits can be maintained.
* Since it is dried in a frozen state, the volume is almost constant, with the original structure, and concentration does not occur.
* Since the moisture in the material exists in the form of ice crystals after pre-freezing, the inorganic salt-soluble substances originally dissolved in water are evenly distributed in the material. During the process of sublimation, the substances dissolved in water are precipitated, which avoids the phenomenon that the inorganic salt carried by the internal moisture migration to the surface in the general drying method is precipitated on the surface to cause surface hardening.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 23RD MAY.

THINK THE WORD

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).

God didn’t only instruct us to mount guard at the door of our hearts against the wrong thoughts from passing through, He also tells us the kind of thoughts to allow. That’s what we read in our theme scripture.

There’re people who have heard something that wasn’t true, or honest, or pure, or of good report, yet they kept it in their minds until it controlled their lives and led to depression. No; that’s the wrong way to live. Don’t brood over anything that’s detrimental to your spirit. Rather, make a practice of forming the right images in your mind in consistency with the Word. When you do, those thoughts will create realities.

Thoughts have power and create realities. What you think about, you become. That’s the reason your thoughts must be wholesome. The admonition in our opening verse is actually a call to think on the Word; to have Word-based thoughts.

When you think on the Word, it’ll create and produce in you ideas and pictures of success, endless possibilities and victories, love and fellowship with God. When things get tough, refuse to be stressed or flustered. Rather, get a hold of God’s Word and brood over it. Don’t think or talk about the problem; just ponder on, and mutter God’s Word about the situation. Soon enough, there’ll be a change; a permanent change. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you because the entrance of your Word illuminates my spirit and causes me to think the right thoughts. I brood only on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of a good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. Therefore, I make my way prosperous and walk in absolute victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

RALEIGH Anders Bjork Jersey , N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes found their offense against the Philadelphia Flyers.Limited to a goal in four of their last five games and coming off a shutout loss on the weekend, the Hurricanes scratched out a 3-1 win over Philadelphia on Monday night for their second victory in six games.Lucas Wallmark, Jordan Martinook and Andrei Svechnikov scored and goalie Curtis McElhinney stopped 22 shots in the win.Goals have been scarce for Carolina, which had scored a total of seven in the previous five games.“We’ve been struggling to score and sometimes you need one to get you jump-started,” Martinook said.Jakub Voracek scored for Philadelphia, which lost for the third time in four games and fell to 3-3-1 under interim coach Scott Gordon. Carter Hart started in the nets for the Flyers, but allowed three goals on 10 shots and was replaced by Michal Neuvirth, who stopped all 23 shots he faced.Wallmark got it going for the Hurricanes at 10:47 in the first period. He took a long shot from the high slot that found the upper left corner of the net.Wallmark, who hadn’t scored in 10 games, said he was just trying to get the puck on net and use a screen by a Philadelphia defender on the rookie Hart.“Everyone wants to score Bobby Orr Jersey ,” said Wallmark, who has three goals this season. “When you don’t, it’s not fun. Somehow we have to keep doing all of the small things right.”Martinook turned a small hunch into a big goal. Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux won the opening faceoff of the second period, but the Carolina left wing was able to steal the puck. He got into the Philadelphia zone and beat Hart to the glove side for a 2-0 lead just 6 seconds into the period.“They’re certainly not thinking that’s going to happen,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “Nobody is. Maybe he caught them sleeping a little bit. That was a big turning point in the game.”McElhinney made the 2-0 lead stand with his toughest save of the night on a 2-on-1 chance by the Flyers. Center Scott Laughton had a clean look at 2:05 in the second period but McElhinney slid over and stopped the shot. The Hurricanes turned the rebound into a transition opportunity and Svechnikov got free to beat Hart at 2:19 for the 3-0 lead. The power play has been a season-long problem for the Flyers, who were 0 for 2 on Monday and rank last in the NHL with the man-advantage.Voracek scored Philadelphia’s only goal at 2:38 in the third period. McElhinney was up to the task the rest of the way with 10 saves in the final period.“I think we’re just trying to get something moving, obviously it has been tough to get goals,” McElhinney said. “To put a few in there right away, and get on them in the second, it helped everybody’s confidence.”NOTES: Philadelphia center Jori Lehtera was a healthy scratch for the seventh straight game. Lehtera is under investigation for his involvement in a drug ring in his native Finland. According to the Finnish news service mtvuutiset.fi http://www.officialbruinsproonline.com/a...and-jersey , Lehtera was charged on Monday with purchasing eight grams of cocaine and he faces a five-month prison sentence. “As I have maintained from the outset, these charges against me are false and I will clear my name,” Lehtera said in a statement released by the team. … Carolina captain Justin Williams played in his 1,200 game on Monday.UP NEXTFlyers: At Nashville on Tuesday.Hurricanes: At Philadelphia on Thursday. EFCC secures conviction of eight illegal petroleum dealers in Akwa Ibom State

Justice Fatun Riman of the Federal High Court, sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, convicted and sentenced eight illegal dealers in petroleum product to six months imprisonment with N20000 (Twenty Thousand Naira) option of fine each and a total forfeiture to the federal government of 150,300 litres of diesel (automotive gas oil, AGO), illegally conveyed in 501 drums. They were prosecuted by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The convicts: Victor Umana; Asuquo Ita Bassey; Okon Edet Solomon; Anthony Okon Effiong; Asuquo John Esuya; Victor Okon Moses; Bassey Effiong Antai and Vincent Okon Antai, were first arraigned by the Commission on May 10, 2019 on three-count charge, bothering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum products. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

However, at the resumed hearing on Wednesday, the convicts, following a plea bargain agreement they reached with the Commission, changed their plea and pleaded guilty to a one-count amended charge read to them.

Quote:The charge reads: "That you Victor Umana, Asuquo Ita Bassey, Okon Edet Solomon, Anthony Okon Effiong, Asuquo John Esuya, Victor Okon Moses, Bassey Effiong Antai and Vincient Okon Antai on or about the second day of April, 2019 at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, without lawful authority and appropriate license did deal in 150, 300 litres of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Three Hundred litres of petroleum product, Automotive Gas Oil, AGO), stored in 501(Five Hundred and One) drums, 300 (Three Hundred) litres, each loaded in a wooden boat and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of the Petroleum Act Cap P10 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2004 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the same Act."
In view of their guilty plea, the prosecution counsel Adebayo Soares urged the court to convict the offenders and order a forfeiture of the petroleum product to the federal government.

The defense counsel, Wole Ayewumi made an appeal for a light sentence for the convicts on the grounds that they are married men with no prior criminal records and did not waste the time of the court.

Justice Riman convicted and sentenced them accordingly. The convicts were arrested in April by the Nigerian Navy "Forward Operating Base," Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, and handed over to the EFCC on April 8, 2019, for further investigation and prosecution.
