El-Rufai’s Plan To Establish Emirates In Southern Kaduna Will Cause Crisis- CNNC
User Avatar Forum: Religion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-03-2018, 11:59 AM - No Replies

Members of the Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) have cautioned against Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s decision to designate parts of Christian dominated areas in Southern Kaduna as emirates, saying the move may engender more crisis.
The group urged El-Rufai to immediately withdraw the state government’s plans, as the country prepares for the 2019 general elections.

A statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Larry Joseph Yammai, noted that: “CNNC underscores the continued inability of Governor El-Rufai to manage the crisis and killings in the state.

“The governor’s recent decision to re-designate four chiefdoms to emirates is not only a deliberate act of violating the common identity and heritage of the chiefdoms but a blatant attempt at Islamisation in Lere, Kagarko, Kajuru and Kauru.

“CNNC condemns the decision in the strongest terms and demands that the status quo of the chiefdoms be maintained, as it will appear that he has just succeeded in sowing seeds of discord that could bear catastrophic fruits in the future.”

It lamented the rapidly deteriorating security situation across the country, especially in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa where herdsmen killings are rampant and the Northeast being ravaged by Boko Haram terrorists.

“Despite acclaimed government’s responses at various tiers, CCNC is worried that certain stakeholders are still firing the embers of discord. CNNC, therefore, condemns the recent call by Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) that the Adamawa five must die.”

An Adamawa State High Court in Yola had recently condemned some Christians namely: Alex Amos, Alheri Phanuel, Holy Boniface, Jerry Gideon and Jari Sabagi to death by hanging.

The CCNC further stressed that the group was also concerned about the recent Federal Government’s proposal on the implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan without consulting the various stakeholders, particularly the farming communities where CNNC has a robust membership.

It, therefore, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to embark on a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture for better results since loss of lives had become a daily occurrence and obviously unstoppable.

“CNNC would want to remind the President of the outstanding issue of Leah Sharibu, who was among the 112 Dapchi girls taken by Boko Haram, but who is still being held by her captors because of her Christian faith,” the statement added.

Npdp May Defect To PDP This Week
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion

Quote:By Onyekachi Eze Abuja 

Baring any change in plan, former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) may likely leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) before Thursday this week.

Leader of the group, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, had, in a statement on Sunday, said the group would announce its next political move before the end of this week.

But a PDP source disclosed that the party is expecting a declaration from the group before Thursday this week.

The nPDP had, in a letter dated April 27, accused the APC leadership and President Muhammadu Buhari of sidelining, harassing, intimidating and victimising its members.

Since then, the group had met with Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the APC leadership, but Buhari has refused to discuss with them.

The PDP source told New Telegraph that the group had perfected plan to leave APC on June 23, the date of the party’s national convention, but for disagreement between the members.

“The plan was to address a press conference that day and announce their movement en masse to PDP, but there was a security report. The thing leaked and they had to put the plan on hold.

“They could also not agree to move that day. Some of them wanted it delayed but people like (Senator Musa) Kwankwaso said ‘no!'” the source explained.

Kwankwaso visited Atiku Abubakar on the night of APC convention in what the former vice president’s media office explained as a Sallah visit.

Senator Dino Melaye also stayed away from the convention.

The former Kano State governor, over the weekend, declared that he would help PDP beat Buhari in 2019, though he has not formally declared for the party.

The source, however, disclosed that a glitch in the group’s movement might be the expected judgement on the President of Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, coming up on July 16.

“We were thinking that it (the defection) will be delayed until after the judgement. But going by Baraje’s statement, it may be soon than expected,” he said.

PDP has set up a contact and mobilisation committee headed by former Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, which is yet to submit its report to the party leadership.

It was believed that the delay is in connection with the discussions with new members expected to join the party.

Killings: Miyetti Allah Rejects Calls For Service Chiefs Sacking
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:Killings: Miyetti Allah rejects calls for service chiefs’ sacking

The apex Fulani social-cultural organisation, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has rejected calls for the sacking of the service chiefs.

The Secretary-General of the group, Saleh Al-Hassan, said this during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Monday.

A large section of Nigerians, including the National Assembly and governors, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the service chiefs for failing to protect the lives of Nigerians.

However, Al-Hassan said those calling for the sacking of the service chiefs “are corrupt politicians.”

He said, “We have documented 411 innocent pastoralists killed just in southern Kaduna for nothing. We have documented all the crises but because we want peace and want to promote the culture of peace and forgiveness hoping that our neighbours will continue to allow us to do our business.

“But the issue of arms and light weapons is a security one. I believe they (security agencies) are on top of it. With the arrests they are making, we must acknowledge the efforts security agencies have put in trying to contain criminality in this country.

“That is why people calling for the removal of service chiefs are either the corrupt politicians or the ones working for them. We should not fall for that gambit.”

Says foreign herdsmen can graze in Nigeria

Al-Hassan also rejected suggestions that herdsmen from other countries should be prevented from grazing their cattle in Nigeria.

He said the ECOWAS “free trade protocol guarantees free movement,” adding that herdsmen do not recognise international boundaries which he described as “colonial creations.”

Al-Hassan added, “You cannot just opt out of a protocol that is integrating the African continent. The pastoralist movement is not for picnics. They go there to access land resources. Also, these boundaries that you have are colonial boundaries.

“Some of them (boundaries) don’t mean anything to the herders. So, what we need to do is to domesticate the ECOWAS protocol, begin to enforce it and then we create grazing reserves for trans-human pastoralists.”

He said the solution remains ranching which must be partly funded by the government and supported by all Nigerians.

Al-Hassan lamented that every attempt by the Buhari government to establish ranches had been rejected by selfish politicians.

He said, “Policies aimed at solving these problems are strongly resisted. Attempts were made to put up a commission for grazing reserves to see how it can be done but it was shut down at the National Assembly. The minister of agriculture has been trying all his efforts to see that solutions are brought to the table but people read political motive to it and killed the policies.

“Today, we have a national livestock development plan that is well articulated but the same people saying we should ranch our cows are now saying they will not accept ranches so what are we talking about? So, we must understand the socio-political undercurrents.”

He lambasted Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for initiating the anti-grazing law, adding that most of the arrests by security agencies showed it was Ortom’s men that were carrying out the killings.

Corrupt politicians behind calls for service chiefs sacking – Miyetti Allah

Speaking at another event in Abuja, Alhassan said the security agencies must identify the perpetrators and sponsors of the killings in Plateau State, noting that corrupt politicians were behind the massacre.

At a colloquium organised by the Citizens Communication and Advocacy Centre, the Secretary-General of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore said that the National Assembly was laden with corruption and the legislators had not taken sufficient steps to address the farmers-herders’ crises.

The topic of the colloquium was, “Understanding democracy as instrument of development, integration and national cohesion.”

Alhassan said the association did not believe in the call for the sacking of the service chiefs, noting that the association usually shared “critical intelligence” with the agencies.

He said, “The spate of insecurity in this country is worrisome to anybody that loves this country and I think our security agencies should be up and doing. They should be able to identify the perpetrators and their sponsors and then ensure that justice is meted out to them. We must watch closely our politicians, their utterances and their body language because some of them are the ones promoting violence we are having in this country.

“We are not responsible for the killings in Plateau State. There are crises between farmers and herders all over the country, particularly in the North-Central geopolitical zone. We must recognise that it is a crisis that borders on land resources and we are calling on the government to put mechanisms in place for sustainable management of the land resources.

“But first, our security agencies must be supported to identify the perpetrators and the promoters of this violence. We must closely monitor some of these evangelicals that preach hatred in churches and mosques and desperate politicians that are facing corruption charges. We must be able to get all of them and watch them closely so that they don’t set this country ablaze. They are the drivers of the conflict.

Alhassan, while faulting calls for the sacking of the nation’s security chiefs, argued that corrupt politicians were behind the campaign.

He said, “Most of these politicians own armed thugs and militias across the state. The government should also find those behind the importation of large arms into the country. Who are the people importing these arms?

“We need to overhaul the security architecture of the country but the service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police are doing their best. We should not listen to what desperate politicians are saying. It is the corrupt political elite who are creating crises in this country.

There are attempts by our group to assist the security agencies. We have been partnering the security agencies in terms of giving them critical intelligence where we suspect there are cattle rustlers and criminals.

“The calls for the removal of the service chiefs are empty calls. Desperate politicians and politicians facing criminal charges are the ones making that call.”

‘N’Assembly laden with corruption’

“Which legislation has this eighth National Assembly made to ensure that there is peace? Particularly, I refer to this eighth assembly. This Eight Senate is a washout. They are rippled with corruption. Look at the way they mutilated the budget. Nigerians should be marching to the Senate to demand accountability from these legislators.”

Miyetti Allah a terrorist group, says Middle Belt Forum

In his reaction, however, the National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Isuwa Dogo, described Miyetti Allah as a terrorist organisation.

He said the Miyetti Allah members should not be walking free but be jailed.

Dogo said, “If security agencies were alive to their responsibilities, these guys talking here should not be walking free on the streets of Nigeria because they are terrorists.”

He said the media should stop tagging the conflict as farmer/herder crisis but terrorism.

The Middle Belt spokesman said there was a deliberate attempt to exterminate his people.

Dogo added that the herdsmen like pretending to be victims but never revealed photos of their slain kinsmen.

“How many of our people have gone to kill Fulani people in their (Fulani) villages? How many Fulani have been burnt?,” he asked.

Dogo said 268 people were killed in the Plateau attack as opposed to the 86 being reported in the media.

Arrest masterminds of Plateau killings, AANI tells FG

Meanwhile, the Alumni Association of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, has called on the Federal Government to apprehend the masterminds of the killings in Plateau State.

This, the association said, was the only way to forestall reprisals and end the ongoing bloodshed in the Middle-Belt region.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the AANI President, Khaleel Bolaji, stated that his association was shocked and saddened by the magnitude of the killings which he described as reprehensible.

He noted that the needless killings had demeaned the essence of humanity and rubbished the succour guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution.

The AANI President said, “We call on the federal and state governments to immediately redouble whatever efforts that could be deployed to forestall any reprisal while perpetrators must be found and brought to book to serve as a deterrent.

“These needless losses have demeaned the essence of our humanity and rubbished our succour as guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Bolaji commiserated with the government and people of Plateau State, noting that the attacks came at a time the security agencies were “doing their best towards stemming the endless violence in the hands of disgruntled elements.”

Without justice, there won’t be peace, Onoja warns FG

An AANI member and former military governor of Kaduna and Katsina states, Gen. Lawrence Onoja (retd.), insisted that there must be justice, without which he said there could be no peace.

“Some people who threatened to carry out the attacks are still walking on the streets and nothing happened to them. What the communities are asking for is, there should be justice because without justice, there would be no peace. I hope the President would put this into consideration and make sure there are changes,” he stated.

The Secretary-General, National Union of Garment and Textile Workers, and AANI member, Issa Aremu, noted that the killings could lead to food scarcity in the country, stressing that the attack on farmers was affecting food production.

Southern, M’Belt Forum knocks Presidency for insensitivity

However, the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has accused the Presidency of insensitivity for comparing the number of deaths under the current administration to the ones under the previous government.

It stated that the government was bereft of emotion and empathy by seeing the death of Nigerians as mere statistics.

The forum in a communique issued at the end of its meeting in Abuja and released on Monday, attributed the Plateau killings to professional killers, noting that the pattern of the massacre indicated that it was a well planned operation.

The group in the statement co-signed by Yinka Odumakin for South-West, Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-South), Prof. Chigozie Ogbu (South-East) and Dr. Isuwa Dogo (Middle-Belt), stated that they were pained by the loss of hundreds of lives in Plateau State.

It also knocked the government for blaming cattle rustling for the violence “without any form of regret over the deaths of hundreds of our citizens whose lives would appear to be inferior to those of cows in the estimation of highest authorities in the land.”

The forum added, “Apart from the clear failure of leadership in a country that withdraws $1bn not appropriated to buy fighter jets but whose President asks citizens to pray to God to come and do the job of their Commander in-Chief, we are full of rage over the official irresponsibility the Presidency has displayed over this carnage in the following ways:

“The Presidency first reaction as dead bodies were still being counted was some noxious narration of how the killings were caused by the missing of 100 cows.”

“The follow-up to this ranking insensitivity was the declaration in Jos by Mr. President that the number of deaths in Zamfara is more than Benue and Plateau put together making Nigerians to wonder if he was the ‘Statistical General of deaths’ and not the Commander-in-Chief who should ensure deaths do not occur at all.

“To cap the festival of mockery of the deaths in the land ,the Presidency issued another statement saying there were more deaths under the Peoples Democratic Party than under the present administration; What a morbid sense of insensitive comparison?

“Are we to award some medal to the government in power for keeping the number of deaths in three years lower than what occurred in 16 years? We hope we do not see this in the book of achievements of this government.”

Presidency blames power contest, anti-graft war for killings

However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, has said the fierce competition for power and President Muhammadu Buhari’s unrelenting war on corruption are responsible for an upsurge of violent conflicts across Nigeria.

Shehu said this while speaking to reporters at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, in Abuja, on Monday.

He explained that competition for power had become fiercer and the stakes had become very high hence the upsurge in cases of violent attacks.

The presidential aide noted that many people, especially the rich and the powerful, had thought the war against graft was a joke until the President with the support of a reformed judiciary, showed no sign of backing down.

Shehu said, “The problem is that the competition for power in the country has become fiercer and fiercer because the stake is very high. I will give you one example. The President has unleashed on the country the war against corruption, the type that had never been seen before. Assets are being recovered from powerful people.

“The President is lucky. He has a judiciary which is transforming itself, which is on the same page with the President in fighting corruption. As I speak to you now, you know that two former state governors are in jail.

“A lot of people thought this war against corruption is a joke, and that the back and forth that has characterized this over time will continue. One of the two cases we are talking about is determined after eleven years of back and forth with lawyers and judges, kicking the ball from this hut to that hut.

“Now, they have descended on the country. A new era and a new aura that is ensuring the conclusion of these cases – a lot of these hash attacks against the President, are coming from people who had become used to lifestyle they can no longer sustain.”

Quote:The management of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos has expelled nineteen students of the institution over various offences relating to examination malpractices.

The affected students belong to various departments within the school and cut across both full-time and part-time programmes.

In three different circulars sighted by
EduCeleb.com over the weekend on the institution’s campus, the students were said to have committed the offences during the second semester examinations in the 2016/2017 academic session.

All the circulars were signed by the Deputy Registrar, Academics, Mrs M.O. Osidipe and dated 27th June.

Each also indicated that the Academic Board took the decision on behalf of the management at its meetings variously held on 28th May, 30th May, and 7th June.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision, YABATECH spokesman, Ndubueze Ejiofor said that it was standard practice that once one student was caught cheating in the exam, he/she would face the music as stated in the students’ handbook.

“When the students were admitted, they were given the students’ handbook. Part of the content discriminates against examination malpractices. It is standard practice here. Once anyone violates the rule, he should be ready to pay for that,” he told EduCeleb.com.

Senator Sani reveals the sponsor behind herdsmen killings

The Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the national assembly, Senator Shehu Sani says Nigerians does not need to blame nameless desperate politicians as the brain behind current Fulani herdsmen killings.

According to him, If a serving State Governor can openly confess to be paying Herdsmen in his state to stop killing, then there was no need to keep looking for culprits somewhere else.

In a statement on Twitter, he joked that the government may find the sponsors in Mars,Venus, Jupiter, Uranus or Saturn.
Recalled that the governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has on December 3, 2016, disclosed to some journalist that his government paid Fulani herdsmen to stop the killing in Southern Kaduna.
“For southern Kaduna, we didn’t understand what was going on and we decided to set up a committee under Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) to find out what was going on there. What was established was that the root of the problem has a history starting from the 2011 post-election violence.” he had said.

“Fulani herdsmen from across Africa bring their cattle down towards Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. The moment the rains starts around March, April, they start moving them up to go back to their various communities and countries.

“Unfortunately, it was when they were moving up with their cattle across Southern Kaduna that the elections of 2011 took place and the crisis trapped some of them.
“Some of them were from Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Mali and Senegal. Fulanis are in 14 African countries and they traverse this country with the cattle.

“So many of these people were killed, cattle lost and they organised themselves and came back to revenge.
“So a lot of what was happening in Southern Kaduna was actually from outside Nigeria. We got a hint that the late Governor Patrick Yakowa got this information and he sent someone to go round some of these Fulani communities, but of course after he died, the whole thing stopped. That is what we inherited. But the Agwai committee established that.

“We took certain steps. We got a group of people that were going round trying to trace some of these people in Cameroon, Niger republic and so on to tell them that there is a new governor who is Fulani like them and has no problem paying compensations for lives lost and he is begging them to stop killing.

“In most of the communities, once that appeal was made to them, they said they have forgiven. There are one or two that asked for monetary compensation. They said they have forgiven the death of human beings, but want compensation for cattle. We said no problem, and we paid some. As recently as two weeks ago, the team went to Niger republic to attend one Fulani gathering that they hold every year with a message from me. ” he added

Quote:If a serving State Governor can openly confess to be paying Herdsmen in his state to stop killings; And you are still blaming nameless ‘desperate politicians’ and looking for culprits, then you may find them in Mars,Venus,Jupiter,Uranus or Saturn.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 3RD JULY.

CHRIST IN YOU

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

The essence of Christianity is “Christ in you”; that’s the power and the glory of Christianity. When some people say, “Christ is in me,” they’re merely repeating a religious cliché; they haven’t grasped the power and import of that statement. Everything Jesus came to accomplish was aimed at Christ being in you. Christ in you is everything.

Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin; He saved us from sin for a purpose! Saving us from sin was a means to an end: to make each one of us God’s living tabernacle, in such a way that we become one with Him. This is the ultimate aim of Christianity. It’s an extraordinary thinking; it reveals the excellence of our God’s mentality! It’s like the mixture of a house and its owner. How can one even contemplate that, and eventually carry it out? How can one bring a house together with its owner, and make them one?

But our God did! He didn’t just make us His house, He made us one with Himself. Together, we’re one divine creation, for the Bible says, “…he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17). God’s ultimate purpose was to reproduce Himself in us, and He’s achieved it through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He didn’t just want to have kids; His idea was to reproduce Himself and have “associates of the God-kind.”

But when you look at your life, with the things happening, it may not seem like you’re anything close to what God ever intended. That’s why He wants you to focus on His Word and see that your priestly life has begun; your royal life has begun. The Holy Spirit in you is the assurance, the guarantee, and the realization of your glorious life. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the treasure you’ve deposited in my spirit. I’m a king-priest unto you, showing forth your wisdom, and demonstrating your glory and dominion in the earth. Christ is in me, and His life in me makes me victorious forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

3RD JULY.

I affirm that my mouth is filled with laughter because the Lord has made my life a bundle of joy and happiness, and a testimony of His goodness. I am filled with the fullness of God and out of my belly flow rivers of living water. Hallelujah! The Word of God has the pre-eminence in my life, and it continually produces in me what it talks about.

I experience the reality of the Word of God as I meditate on, and live in, the Word! I make progress, and circumstances are subdued to conform to the reality of God’s Word for my good. My heart is stayed on the Word; thus, the peace of God garrisons my heart and mind in Christ. Hallelujah! Today, I go forth in God’s glory, in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost because I’ve been enthroned by the Lord.
There’s no place for depression, weakness, and sadness in my life. I’m the seed of Abraham, and his blessings rest on me! I’m like a tree by the stream, well-watered and ever flourishing, bearing fruits of righteousness and experiencing luxuriant growth in every area of my life. My testimony of life is different because the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places and I live in prosperity and victory every day. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

The authorities of the Federal University, Lokoja, have expelled 13 final year students, including one with first class GPA, over alleged leakage of question papers that rocked the institution during the second semester examination in November last year.

The students, all from the Economics Department, were said to have been involved in purchasing the examination paper from a driver who worked in the department.

One of the students was said to be on the verge of bagging a first class with a cumulative grade point of 5.0.The university is also investigating some staff said to be accomplices in the question leakage scandal, with a view to imposing appropriate sanctions on those found guilty.

This was disclosed on Monday by the institution’s vice chancellor, Prof. Angela Freeman Miri, at a press conference

Although the number of staff involved was not disclosed, she said that anyone found guilty will not be spared.

The VC of the six-year-old university said that the affected students have been given the right of appeal if they are not satisfied with the decision of the University Senate which approved their expulsion.

Miri said that the university had done proper investigation before arriving at the decision.

“No university that is worth its salt will compromise its examination standards; and the Federal University, Lokoja, will not be an exemption,” Prof. Mirri said.

She said the students had the opportunity to defend themselves before a disciplinary committee set up to look into the incident, and that their expulsion was ratified by the 47th Senate of the institution.

“The affected students were invited by the committee for questioning and the investigation committee found them guilty and then recommended them for expulsion,” she noted.

According to the offer circular on the DMO website, the two-year bond will be due in July 2020 while the three-year bond will be due in July 2021.

It, however, did not state how much was offered for the bonds, but stated that the maximum subscription was N50 million at N1, 000 per unit, subject to minimum subscription of N5, 000 and in multiples of N1, 000.

The DMO said the bonds were fully backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government, with quarterly coupon payments to bondholders.

The savings bond issuance is expected to help finance the nation’s budget deficit.

It is to also part of the Federal Government’s programme targeted at the lower income earners to encourage savings and also earn more income (interest), compared to their savings accounts with banks.

The circular also said the offer would close on Friday.

How Fulani are plotting To Colonize Nigeria - Pastor Paul Adefarasin(video)

Pastor Paul Adefarasin has reacted to the recent killings in the country by Fulani Herdsmen.

During a recent church service, Pastor Adefarasin revealed that the recent attacks were basically a land grab by the Fulanis who were invited from Senegal and Guinea where they have not been allowed to rule.

He added that the Fulani have been invited to take over our land to continue the colonization that Usman Danfodio began.

He also lamented over the history of Nigeria that has been erased from the libraries and education system, adding that it was true Usman Dan fodio was the first Mahdi, Ahmadu Bello was the second Mahdi and the third was a certain 'gentleman' who had a ruthless history was the third Mahdi.

He finalized by saying that no Mahdi will actualize the plans of the Fulani to colonize Nigeria ever again.

Embattled HTC Announces Plan To Sack 1500 Workers.
User Avatar Forum: Mobile Telecom
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 08:12 PM - No Replies

TAIWAN, JULY 2ND. As revenue continues to dwindle and in a desperate effort for survival, struggling Taiwan based smartphone makers HTC has announced plans to slash 1500 staff members of their global workforce. The fortunes of HTC has no doubt nosedived drastically in recent years.

This indicate that the floor is about to cave-in for the struggling Taiwanese mobile phone maker that once sold one in 10 smartphones globally, but has seen its market share decline amid mounting competition from Apple, Samsung, LG and Chinese rivals.

HTC said it would cut 1,500 jobs in its manufacturing unit in Taiwan. This represents about a quarter of the 6,450 staff it employed globally as of June, data from the company shows.
“Today HTC announces plan to optimize the manufacturing organizations in Taiwan … This plan will allow more effective and flexible resource management going forward,” the company says in a statement made available to Reuters.

This massive layoffs follows a $1.1 billion deal late last year under which HTC lost 2,000 staff, mainly handset engineers, to Alphabet’s Google, casting doubts over the company’s longer-term future. Recall that HTC’s president Chialin Chang resigned in February this year following numerous challenges facing the company. I wonder what went wrong with HTC considering the fact that they made some of the best smartphones few years ago. For a company who has over 19000 staff in 2013, now they'll be less than 5000. My advice for those that would not be affected by the mass sack is to quietly start dusting up their CVs because they might be needing it soon!

Armed Robber/Rapist Who Later Asked His Rape Victim On A Date Arrested In Kenya

>>> Joram Njoroge, whom she identified as the one who raped her, had earlier ordered her to the bedroom and asked her to UnCloth in front of her father.

>>> The armed robbers, she said, left their home after holding the family hostage for eight hours. Her uncle and two cousins she revealed had their hands tied.

A woman who was raped during a robbery and later asked out on a date by one of the attackers narrated her ordeal to a Nakuru court.

In her testimony, the victim said one of the three suspects, who include a woman, accused of robbing her family at gunpoint, directed her to the servant quarters. He then ordered her to remove her clothes before committing the heinous act.

Joram Njoroge, whom she identified as the one who raped her, had earlier ordered her to the bedroom and asked her to UnCloth in front of her father.

“I did not know what was coming. I pleaded with him that I was on my periods, but he could hear none of it and held a gun on me and ordered I take off my clothes,” she said, adding that Njoroge had threatened to rape her.

The woman who testified before Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate, Yvonne Khatambi said she tried pleading with the man to no avail, even after proving to them that she was menstruating.

The armed robbers, she said, left their home after holding the family hostage for eight hours. Her uncle and two cousins she revealed had their hands tied.

She told the court that she could identify the two-Kevin Matundura and Njoroge- as at the time of entering their house lights were on.

Njoroge had not covered his face to hide his identity. The woman also managed to identify him as he had a gap between his front teeth and a cracked tooth on his upper jaw.

The suspects blew their cover after one of them started conversing with the woman through phone, seducing her.

Matundura wrote to the woman informing her where their vehicle was after leaving the home as they had exchanged contacts.

She said Matundura, after leaving the home, called her and apologised for the gang’s misdeeds, whilst asking her for a relationship.

The woman alerted Criminal Investigation officers and she kept engaging the suspect until they agreed to meet on a date. The suspect went on to send her Sh200 for her bus fare.

Njoroge is charged alongside Matundura and Josephine Waihuini. The latter is accused of being a decoy who makes unsuspecting would-be victims to assume it’s a normal group of stranded men and a woman at night.

They allegedly, on March 15, 2017, at Makutano while armed with a FN Herstal machine gun rifle and a pistol robbed a family of their assorted property.

Waihuini, however, is accused of associating herself with person in possession of deadly firearms, including a big AK47 that was in the gang’s possession. She is further accused of handling stolen property.

Among the items listed in the charge sheet include a sewing motor machine, ten bags of dry maize, a Samsung mobile phone, assorted clothes and shoes, a motor rolling machine and the drive-away car.

Wilson Oruma: 'I Lost N2bn To Fraudsters And Relations'
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 08:08 PM - No Replies

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Wilson Oruma, has finally broken his silence on his sad experience with fraudsters who duped him close to N2b.

Recall that the ex-Super Eagles captain suffered a relapse of the emotional disorder that bugged him 6-years-ago after he was defrauded by a clergyman and some fake oil businessmen.

According to reports, Oruma was lured into a fake oil business in December 2012 in which he invested the sum of N1.2billion after retiring from football.‎ He eventually lost the investment.

Speaking about it for the first time with the Guardian, he confirmed the sad incident and revealed some of his relations were involved in the deal that saw him lose close to N2 billion.

“This is my first time of speaking with any journalist on this,' he said.

“It is true that I lost all my savings to some people, who turned out to be fraudsters. I have read several stories in the media since then. Those stories did not emanate from me. They quoted different amount, which is not correct. I lost close to N2 billion.”

“The most painful aspect of it all was the fact that some of my relations were involved in the deal. You can imagine losing such huge amount of money to people you trusted. I pray for them to have a human heart and return my money, even if it is part of it. That is my prayer every day, and I know that one day, the hand of God will torch their hearts,” he added.

Oruma featured for Nigeria’s U-17, U-23 and the senior national team, winning the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1993, the Olympic gold in 1996 and two bronze medals at the African Cup of Nations in 2002 and 2006.

Police Storm Celestial Church Of Christ In New York As Members Fight (Pics, Vide

This is really shameful. Police officers had to be called in to settle a crisis which rocked the Celestial Church of Christ, Staten-Island Parish, in New-York City. It was gathered that the members who are mainly Nigerians (judging from their Yoruba dialect), engaged themselves in a heated quarrel between two factions as the chaos was too much that the police officers had to wade in.

Even when the police stepped into the church to restore peace, one of the female church members told an officer, "you're not supposed to come to the church with your sandal"as other church members hushed her down.

In the video footage posted online, one of the church members can be heard saying 'those people are coming back, they embezzled money and do sexual harassment in this church'.

The church members were told to vacate the church premises so it could be locked down.

Ango Abdullahi Meets Obasanjo Over 2019 Polls, Killings
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 08:04 PM - No Replies

Quote:The spokesman for the Northern Elders Forum, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, has met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to strategise for the 2019 presidential election.

The meeting, which held last Thursday between the NEF Chairman, Ango Abdullahi, and Obasanjo, was meant to agree on a possible consensus candidate, a source informed The PUNCH on Sunday.

It was learnt that the parley, which also had in attendance two other NEF members, deliberated about a suitable northern candidate that could attract massive support from all parts of the country in the 2019 elections.

It was learnt that the meetings were parts of the moves to unite elders of the six zones in the country to present a common front in the 2019 presidential election.

Investigations showed that the meetings were also aimed at proffering solutions to security challenges in the country.

The PUNCH gathered that the participants discussed the future of the country under a dynamic leader and how the NEF could partner other stakeholders across the country to ensure the election of a new candidate other than President Muhammadu Buhari.

The source said, “Ango Abdullahi actually visited Obasanjo in Abeokuta along with two other men. Their discussion, as you rightly guessed, bordered on the 2019 elections and the need to field a dynamic candidate who would be acceptable to the North and other regions of the country because the North is no longer comfortable with the current leadership.”

Also, a top politician who wished to remain anonymous said Abdullahi had another meeting with some elders of the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere.

He said, “Ango Abdullahi has met with Obasanjo and Afenifere as part of the efforts to save this country. They discussed 2019 elections and the recent killings which have mostly affected Nigerians living in the North.

“I think there is a general agreement that things are not going fine and something needs to be done because both North and South are feeling the effects of the bad governance.”

When contacted, Abdullahi said he attended both meetings alone. In a telephone interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja on Sunday, he said the meetings were parts of consultations ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Although he declined to go into details of the separate meetings, he said issues such as Nigeria’s security and events leading up to the 2019 general elections formed part of discussions.

In response to a question on the essence of the meeting he held with the former President, Abdullahi said, “I just wanted to see him (Obasanjo). Before then, I also met with elders of Afenifere; it is already in the papers.”

Asked what the essence of the meeting was, he simply said, “Consultations.”

He was asked if he was running for the Presidency, he responded, “I am not. I did in the past when I was much younger. I am an old man now. I don’t think I can stand the rigours of the office of the President. I have passed that age now. We are just making consultations around the country.”

When he was asked if the consultations had anything to do with the 2019 elections, he said, “Yes, it does. A lot of things were discussed including 2019; we talked about all sorts of things that have to do with the security of Nigeria and all that. Thank you.”

Syndicate Which Planned To Extort N250M From Businessman, Busted By Police. PICS
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

One Barrister Kayode Oshinyemi, has been arrested by police operatives after a failed plan to allegedly kidnap a businessman. Oshinyemi, currently cooling his feet in the cell of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, was alleged to have, alongside his accomplices, mapped out strategies to kidnap a businessman, one Alhaji Shakirudeen Olufowobi, following the syndicate's failed attempts to defraud their target of #250million.

Disclosing this to Crimepuzzle, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a press statement that the arrest of the member of the Bar was sequel to a petition by the businessman to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, alleging a threat to his life by the lawyer and his cohorts.

Oyeyemi averred that, the petitioner was emphatic on the role played by the lawyer in several failed attempts to fleece him.

He said, "the petitioner alleged that the lawyer, having failed in his several attempts to make him part with millions of Naira to the syndicate, went further to perfect a plan to either rope him in a case he knew nothing about or kidnap him for ransom.

"Meanwhile, prior to the planned kidnap attempt, some members of the syndicate had been nabbed in the petitioner's Al-Amin Farm in Imagbon, via Ijebu-Ode, for stealing", the PPRO stated .

According to him, "On the strength of the petition, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, directed the Officer-in-Charge of FSARS, SP Uba Adam, to discreetly investigate the petition.

"And, in compliance with the CP's order, the outfit embarked on a technical based investigation and monitoring of the said lawyer's activities. The operatives' efforts paid off as the lawyer was caught on tape, planning with others to device means of forcing the businessman to cough out the sum of #250 million, a proceed to be shared amongst all members of the gang.

"Arrested along with the lawyer are: Adeborode Ogunlaja, Sodiq Owolabi, Abolaji Alabi, Mikhail's Abolaji, Abiodun Adebayo and Abolaji Adebola", Oyeyemi stated.

The PPRO further stated that, "On interrogation, Mukaila Abolaji narrated how the lawyer, in collaboration with Adeborode Ogun Lara, lured him into the plan to fraudulently extort money from the complainant and how the money would be shared among them, stating that he reluctantly cued into the plan because of the amount of money involved. In his own statement, Abiodun Adebayo, who regretted knowing the lawyer, accused him of once using him to profess a fake miracle in a crusade organised by one of his pastor friends.

He said he was made to tie a live tortoise to his chest at a crusade ground in Ilese-Ijebu, a ploy to fool the congregation that he was arrested by the Holy Ghost to openly confess being a member of an occult.

"An allegation the lawyer was unable to deny", the statement added.

Meanwhile, CP Iliyasu has ordered that the suspects be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Killings: Gowon Wants Buhari To Deal With Culprits

Quote:Former military head of state, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to identify arrest and deal with the culprits responsible for the various killings across the country perpetrated by suspected bandits and herdsmen.

General Gowon, who was speaking while in Katsina State for a 2-day North West zone Nigeria Prays event, also called on government to bring justice to all those affected by the incidence. He said Nigerians needed to come together and condemn all forms of animosity among her citizens, including bloodletting, clashes, and hate speech.

The former Nigerian leader further observed that if it were not for God’s mercy, the country would have been plunged into crises as result of the killings, as orchestrated recently in Plateau state where more than 100 people lost their lives.

He maintained that the Nigeria Prays project is aimed at praying for the peace, prosperity and security of the country, adding that prayers were able to solve problems faster than what generals and solders were able to do with weapons of war.

He said “We are gathered in the true spirit of worship to intercede fervently for our dear nation for God’s intervention in our affairs, particularly social, political and economic, and to douse hatred and animosity amongst our citizens’’.

“If not for God’s abundant mercy and grace, the nation would have been plunged into another round of crises’’.
“Let us be assured that our prayers are not in vain. I can say this with every authority that prayer can solve problems better and faster than generals and soldiers can do with physical weapons of war’’.

“I have no doubt in my heart that God will honor our collective prayers and intercession for our nation and heal our nation of insecurity.”

“We however call on the authorities to deal with culprits and bring justice to the grieved. We must rise to condemn needles bloodletting and clashes, hate speeches and all manner of evil,”

The event, which lasted for two days, is expected to be held in other parts of the country in the coming months.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Dumps APC (Saraki’s Chief Of Staff)
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 07:57 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Chief of Staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Monday dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Ahmed who was appointed by Mr Saraki in 2017 said his decision has nothing to do with the Senate President.

He described his decision to leave APC as a difficult one.

He said he took the decision after due consultation with members of his Akida faction of APC in Kaduna.

The Akida faction also has a senator, Shehu Sani, as member. Mr Sani has also threatened to leave the APC.

Mr Baba-Ahmed, while addressing journalists in Kaduna on Monday, said he has sent a letter of withdrawal from APC to the party chairman in his ward.

He explained that he was not leaving APC to join another party but believes the ruling party has under performed.

“This statement is to inform the public of my resignation from APC. I have sent a formal letter to this effect to chairman of my ward.

“This has been a very difficult decision, to leave a party I helped to form and made my humble contributions to put in power.

“After three years, however, I need to say that the APC has grossly under-performed and has forfeited any claim to my loyalty and continue membership.
“I do not believe in all concience, that it should be trusted and encouraged to continue to govern our great country beyond 2019.

“I am not leaving to join another party. This is my decision and mine alone . It has nothing to do with the president of the senate Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

“It’s a decision taken after due consultations with Akida Group, a group that has predated my appointment as chief of staff to the President of the Senate.

“I will remain active in politics, as this is the main avenue for salvaging our nation from rising insecurity, poverty and bitter divisions,” he said.

Mr Baba-Ahmed is a former chairman of the APC in Kaduna as well as a former chairman of the now defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC).

He thanked the APC for the opportunities he had to chair CPC and APC in Kaduna State.

Malaysian Man Marries 11-Year-Old Girl As His Third Wife
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 05:13 PM - No Replies

Malaysian authorities are investigating the marriage between an 11-year-old Thai girl and a 41-year-old Malaysian Muslim that has sparked public outrage and calls for child brides to be banned.

Rubber scrap dealer Che Abdul Karim Che Abdul Hamid secretly married the girl as his third wife in Thailand, and the union became public after one of his wives lodged a complaint with police.

Muslim girls under the minimum legal marriage age of 16 can wed with the consent of the Shariah court and their parents. Muslim men in Malaysia can marry four wives.

Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has said the marriage was illegal as it had not been approved by the Shariah court.

Photos on social media showed the groom holding the girl's hand after the marriage ceremony.

Local media said Che Abdul Karim, who is also an imam in a rural village in northeast Kelantan state, already has two wives and six children aged between 5 and 18.

He told Bernama news agency that his marriage was lawful and approved by the girl's parents, who are poor rubber tappers in Malaysia.

He has said he will only formalize the marriage in Malaysia when the girl turns 16 and that she will stay with her parents until then.

The girl was also quoted as saying by local media that she doesn't understand the fuss over her marriage as she is in love with Che Abdul Karim.

•PDP, ADC, NPDP, SDP, 34 OTHERS TO SIGN MOU

•SOUTHERN, NORTH-CENTRAL LEADERS MEET TUESDAY OVER ‘UNITY CANDIDATE’


Quote:Kunle Oderemi, Taiwo Adisa and Dare Adekanmbi

THE plan by the opposition parties to form a grand alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which is certain to present President Muhammadu Buhari as its standard-bearer in the 2019 election, is finally taking shape as the parties have almost concluded the terms of the alliance.

Sunday Tribune learnt at the weekend that the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), New PDP (nPDP) and about 34 other parties and groups are close to signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the alliance.

The four-member committee working on the MoU, it was gathered, was expected to perfect the document earlier in the week but could not finish it. This, it was said, was to give the legacy aligning parties enough room to digest the contents of the MoU and come up with suggestions before a final draft is produced and signed.

It was learnt that the opposition leaders are mindful of time and are determined to conclude work on the document and sign it within weeks.

According to a source within the coalition, Nigerians would begin to witness serious activities in the coalition.

“We are hoping to conclude all plans in the next three weeks. I can assure you that Nigerians would begin to see serious activities in the next few days,” he stated.

Talks were said to have reached a critical stage among the leaders of the opposition parties, who were said had agreed on how best to go about the alliance in a way that will make the 2019 presidential election a walkover for the opposition.

Sources told Sunday Tribune that the PDP, nPDP group and other aggrieved groups within the APC had shown strong commitment towards the alliance which they said was necessary in the interest of the country, which they said is drifting towards disintegration.

A significant number of serving governors and a majority of the National Assembly members across party lines, it was revealed, had bought into the alliance, as well as former presidents who are worried that the country is tottering on the precipice with a troubled economy, escalating killings, vices and growing corruption in the country, without decisive action from the sitting government.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the one of the pending issues among the groups is the platform to adopt, particularly on whether to use ADC, PDP, SDP or any other acceptable party as the platform to drive the alliance.

Sunday Tribune, however, gathered that the issue of platform would not be a sore point, as the overriding consideration for the stakeholders is the need to save the country from total collapse under the Buhari government.

The stakeholders expressed worry that the Buhari-led government is not ready to arrest the sliding economy or protect the citizenry against armed invaders, especially in view of the ceaseless killings across the country as a result of the unchecked activities of herdsmen and other unscrupulous elements.

Meanwhile, a crucial meeting has been scheduled for Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday, by Southern and North-Central leaders of the country on the possibility of a candidate of that zone extraction squaring up with incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s elections.

Sources hinted that the option is among current permutations in the major groups of political parties and mass-based organisations trying to forge an alliance before the polls.

Some Northern leaders privy to the planned meeting in Makurdi, told Sunday Tribune that a couple of politicians from the North-Central nursing presidential ambition had indeed reached out to influential groups and individuals from the South for possible endorsement.

Checks indicated that the leaders will hold a zonal rally, similar to the ones organised in the three zones in the South in the last few months to test the strength of the movement that will coalesce in the grand alliance.

The leaders, it was also gathered, would use the opportunity of the meeting to extract commitments of the various interest groups to the current renaissance, especially on the overall agenda of the movement.

Part of the demands of the leaders include restructuring of the country, implementation of the 2014 National Conference report; shakeup in the nation’s security architecture, as well as in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee free, fair and credible elections next year.

Details have also emerged as to how leaders of the Middle Belt Forum picked four of its 12 presidential hopefuls for the 2019 election.

Sources close to the Forum told Sunday Tribune in Abuja that the Forum X-rayed credentials of the contenders including Senator Barnabas Gemade, Dr. John Dara; Professor Iyotshe Hagher and one former military officer whose name was given as Colonel Kontagora (retd).

It was gathered that the plan of the Middle Belt was to checkmate the core North in the race for 2019 election, as sources said that the Middle Belt had always been overlooked anytime the presidency was coming to the North.

“The move is a massive one and there is the determination to checkmate the North this time. The core North has always taken the slot each time the presidency is zoned to the North. This time, we are presenting quality candidates, who are seasoned technocrats and we will market them to the whole country,” a source in the know said.

It was also gathered that during the week, leaders of the Middle Belt would present the shortlisted four aspirants to leaders of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, the pan-Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the South South Forum in a bid to determine the ultimate candidate for the job.

Sources said that the four regional groupings would hold another screening session to bring up a ‘unity candidate’ which will ensure that the North is checkmated this time.

“If you look at the electoral map of elections of 1983 and 1999, you would discover that the Middle Belt delivered the presidency to Alhaji Shehu Shagari and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in the two rounds of elections. The Middle Belt has always played a key role in resolving the electoral direction of Nigeria,” a source stated.

It was gathered that the four emerged after a rigorous screening exercise, featuring a dozen aspirants.

The screening panel, which was chaired by Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (retd), according to sources, shortlisted Olawepo-Hashim as the youngest presidential hopeful from the Middle Belt due to his display of verse knowledge in business and economy.

Prophet T.B. Joshua: "Pray Against Interruption Of Democracy In Nigeria"
User Avatar Forum: Religion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 05:03 PM - No Replies

Pastor T.B. Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria, has called for urgent prayers for Nigeria against “interruption of the democratic practice” in the nation.

Speaking to congregants on Sunday 1st July 2018 in a service beamed live via the Christian television network Emmanuel TV, the cleric stated he had received a revelation concerning Nigeria on three different occasions, prompting him to make it public.

“I was in my vision and God told me to tell the nation and leaders to pray against the interruption of the democratic practice,” he bluntly revealed.

“The president’s heart is like a stream of water in the hands of God and He can control it whenever He wants,” he continued in his customary parabolic fashion.

Joshua then reminded congregants of the ‘prophecy’ he gave in 2016 where he candidly stated Nigeria’s future was “crying for help”.

“You must join me in prayer for the nation because two believers are better than one,” he stressed before enjoining congregants to rise and pray.

Worshippers then joined Joshua in asking for God to give President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria’s leaders “a greater understanding of God’s heart, discretion to guide their hearts, understanding that will protect them and wisdom that will rescue them”.

A funny twist of event has Mr Collins Ugwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Prisons being arrested by the Enugu State Police command, over his alleged involvement in armed robbery.

The Deputy Superintendent of Prisons who works at the headquarters of the Nigeria Prisons Service, was arrested in Enugu on June 26 alongside suspected accomplices, Ifeanyi Ozor, a native of Enugu State who is also resident in Abuja; and Smart Osetu from Oguta in Imo State.

Parading the suspects, Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Danmallam, who spoke to newsmen disclosed that  Ugwu and his colleagues were apprehended after the police gathered intelligence information on their activities. According to him, the suspects were arrested on charges bordering on armed robbery, conspiracy, malicious damage, stealing and ‘obtaining by tricks.’

The Police Boss added that Senior Prison official from Ezza in Ebonyi State, who resides in Abuja stays around the premises of commercial banks to monitor prospective victims who had come to withdraw money, alongside members of his gang.

“The suspects (Ugwu, Ozor and Osetu) belong to a syndicate that specialises in monitoring anyone that has gone to bank to make withdrawals and trail them to a point where they can smartly force the door or the windscreen (of the victims’ car) open with their instrument and steal the said amount.

“They are also part of a syndicate that buys goods from traders and generate fake payment alert to the owner of the goods without him knowing.

“They were nabbed along Ogui Road, Enugu by the operatives of the Enugu State Police Command on June 26, 2018, following intelligence information gathered concerning their nefarious activities" Danmallam said.

A  Golf car with registration number Abuja RBC 220 KF, and a broken plug which they allegedly use in “scratching down” the window of the car to steal from their victims, was also recovered from the suspects.

Ugwu however refused to respond to questions from newsmen, as he bowed his head to prevent journalists from taking pictures of his face.

Muhammadu Buhari not toppled the government of his principal through a military coup in 1983, Nigeria would have become better today. He also notes that there is more unhappiness, unemployment, poverty and despair in the country today than ever before. Excerpts:

Do you think the recognition of MKO Abiola by the federal government came a little too late?
The life of 25 years is a very short time. In the United States, people are still lobbying for people who ‘were convicted for one thing or the other’ about 200 years ago to get formal pardons. So, in the life of a nation, I think that 25 years is not a terribly long period of time. At least, people like us, who were active in the (June 12, 1993) struggle, are still around. Will it have been better if it was done 22 years ago? Sure. But I don’t think that it was bad being done eventually.

Do you find it ironical that neither President Goodluck Jonathan nor President Umaru Yar’Adua honoured Abiola but it took a dictator-turned democrat, President Muhammadu Buhari, to award the late Abiola with the GCFR?
Well, in the world of politics, nothing is a straight-line graph. The bottom line is that our country desperately needs healing right now. We desperately need the past being reconciled (with the present) so that we can move forward. There is too much pain bottled-up and this bottled-up pain is being seen often not understood in many of the so-called security challenges around the country – whether in kidnapping, insurgency, terrorism. In many ways, these are connected to many injustices of the past. This country is full of historical injustices. Somebody has to take the lead in trying to help heal those wounds, because they are preventing progress that we should be making as a country.

Do you think the honour will put a closure to many open wounds in the country?
It will start but it won’t close, because the open wounds are too many and too many people, who are closer to those problems, still bear personal animosities. Nigeria has seen all manner of things. There were much genocide you can think of in the 20th century – Nigeria experienced a significant one. I’m not talking about something far away. In the Nigerian civil war, I had experienced it first-hand. I also was one of those, who resisted the annulment of June 12. The files are still full in the court in the SSS files of attempt to kill me. I’m talking, because I survived. People like Kudirat Abiola didn’t survive – so injustices are many.

The injustice has deepened the cleavages of ethnicity and religion – personally, I don’t feel any of those. There’s a joke I keep saying to people that if people realise how small these things (ethnicity and religion) are. I’m privileged to be very close friends with both the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto and the Sultan of Sokoto. When I go to Sokoto on some occasions the sultan, the bishop and I sit on the floor eating. I just wish all the people quarrelling in Nigeria can see the three of us sitting on the floor eating and joking about everything. Then they will know they shouldn’t be quarrelling and abusing one another on the Internet. Political leaders need to show leadership in helping to heal some of these wounds.

Is it correct that the award given to Abiola and Gani Fawehinmi was to woo the South-west ahead of the 2019 presidential election?
I was not there when the decision was made. So, I don’t know what the motivation was – I’m not guessing. But it’s not a crime in politics to make such moves. I can’t speak with any authority on what the motivation was, because I wasn’t there.

Talking about 2019, you’re a member of the Nigeria Intervention Movement. Do you think this movement can wrest power from the incumbent? Who are the possible presidential candidates you are considering to contest against President Buhari?
Again, this is part of the thing with attempts to create a movement to achieve certain goals. Sometimes they get misunderstood. Sometimes they get confused. Sometimes people have different perspectives and come to the table. Let me preface a little talk about social movement in Nigeria and my involvement with social movements. I don’t think we’ll be revealing something new when we say Nigeria is a horribly governed country. It is far from its potential for some many simple reasons.

In my view, sometimes some people will say because it has had terrible, wicked, and greedy past leaders – maybe it’s true or not but I tend to think that the wickedness of such people are exaggerated. I think the biggest problem with Nigeria is that it has had leaders, who were not educated enough and wise enough to understand the consequences of their actions. I think if the people, who usually were holding a gun to Babangida’s head to annul the (June 12) election only had the broader picture of the consequence above their immediate self-interest, they’d probably act differently.

Let me start with June 12: I was principal to the founding of one of the most important movements of that time called the Concerned Professionals. It was designed to draw into the political arena people who ordinarily would say, ‘Leave these soldiers; leave these politicians. God will judge them.’ Don’t wait for God to judge them. God has given you a brain, so be active in deciding your own future. We supported NADECO.

Now, the whole idea of the Nigeria Intervention Movement was to repeat the same movement that we built up under the Concerned Professionals – that if we can attract a lot of professionals, they can then go into whatever party they want to. They can take over the existing parties and turn them around – If they think it’s not working they can create another party. The NIM as I understood it was not designed to be a political party. It’s a force designed to create capacity to take over an existing party or create a new one.

A former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, said the security architecture of Nigeria must be changed. What do you think?
I believe that and looking at the security architecture in Nigeria one important thing to bear in mind is the state of the economy. The more we have unemployed people and the more we have bad or poor education – as most people are certificated but they’re basically illiterate – the easier it is for people, who have grievances to recruit people and brainwash them to become agents of disruption of normal order.

The general state of anomie that seems to be overtaking us in Nigeria, for me, significantly is economy. Therefore, the beginning of thinking insecurity is thinking a developmental state that aims to create a full employment economy – people who are educated enough in civic matters to resist those who seek to use them to abuse the state. Of course, there are other aspects of the security architecture that need to be reviewed. Of course, Gen. Alani Akinrinade is one of the most outstanding officers of the Nigerian Army and still alive. He knows what he’s talking about. So, we need to listen to people like him.

Only six states – all from the South-west – out of the nation’s 36 declared June 12 a public holiday. Does that bother you?
I think there’s a matter of how people try to draw emphasis to things that are unnecessary and unfortunately, Nigeria has got into this very sad ethnic arithmetic in which things are interpreted in ethnic ways. I often repeat a statement that came from the World War II by Reverend Martin Niemoller, who said, ‘First they came for the Jews and I said these Jews are too troublesome anyway. Then they came for the communists and I said well thank God I’m not a communist. Then they came for the Catholics and I said at least I’m a protestant and finally they came for me but there was no one else to speak up.’

Why do you think the 30 other states didn’t celebrate June 12?
I just think it’s because they consider it as something that is too politically problematic. ‘Let just leave it. The day that the South-west succeeds then we would join them.’

Some are worried about Buhari’s possible second coming, citing his poor health records as president. Do you really think that should be a cause for concern?
In recent times, many of us have been talking about restructuring and all of that. One of the things I said to myself is that I want to become a village man. I want to focus on local issues and leave Abuja alone – let Abuja take care of itself. By the time I fix my village maybe I can then find out what’s happening in Abuja. Besides, I’m not a doctor; I can’t tell who is well or who is not well.

Some have suggested that there should be an independent team of medical doctors to test the fitness of presidential candidates before contesting in the 2019 poll. Do you agree?
You can’t single one person out. If you’re going to test the fitness of all the public office holders then we should test the fitness of every aspirant in any position.

This time round one would have thought that you would also throw your hat in the ring to contest the presidential poll. Why are you not contesting?
When I turned 60 two years ago, I wanted to retire completely. I said I had reached what should be called a retirement age and I was told that the academic age (of retirement) is 70. I’m more interested in serving Nigeria from the edge, where it stands than on a position or a title. One of the things that I focus on a great deal is the concept of the leader, who has no title. If I could find a way of making a difference without holding a position, I’ll be happier. There’s an obsession in this country with titles and positions. I want to make a difference.

There have been accusations that Buhari’s war against corruption is largely being waged against individuals in the opposition party. People say the anti-corruption war is not transparent. What more do you think the government can do to show sincerity and transparency?
I’ll just give the same answer I gave when they accused Obasanjo of the same thing that Ribadu was attacking his opponents – going after his opponents. I said: ‘Okay, it’s good. At least you people did something. Whether you’re the man’s friend or enemy let them go after you. If they finish catching his enemies then he can get to his friends.’ I think that people will always say something. Let’s deal with corruption; it doesn’t matter who it is.

Besides, catching people is important now that two governors are in jail. My prayer is that before the end of this year, we should have at least ten governors in jail. Why is it important for them to go to jail? Not that I want them to suffer – many of them are my friends, very good friends for that matter – but because I want us to learn a lesson that will be a deterrence in the future. But more importantly, my preferred approach is an approach that makes it more difficult to be corrupt than the one that catches those who have been corrupt.

The APC is battling to have a common front going into 2019 elections. Do you see the party failing next year?
It’s not a fair question to ask me, because I’m a member of the APC. So, what will I say that would be fair? Perhaps, I should not say anything.

Buhari has often been accused of nepotism and condoning corrupt practices of people in his government like Babachir Lawal. What is your thought on that?
I’m assuming the investigations are going on and when there is enough information, some actions will be taken. As a matter of principle, I would think that it’s important to clear that there are no secret sacred cows. In fact, people around you should be the first to be held accountable, because it points straight at you if you don’t hold them accountable. I would hope that such philosophy is borne in mind. But people should not also be persecuted just because they are close (to the government). There should be some kind of balance in these matters.

Killings in the North-Central have continued unabated. What do you think is responsible? How can these be stopped?
You know again that part of the problem that I have with the limitation of the public sphere in the market place of idea in Nigeria is that it has been reduced to a certain level of mediocrity that quality conversation is absent today in Nigeria. The issues in the North-Central are deep and complex. But they have been treated as Islamisation. First of all, the herdsmen-farmers clashes are part of a major sociological challenge in a transition society, transiting from an agrarian society towards an industrial society.

Fifty years ago, the herdsmen were principally entrepreneurs; they own their cattle and the land tenure system was different. But they were able to reach some kind of accommodation with the farmers. They were generally allowed in certain corridors, where crops were not planted. They didn’t bother farmers too much. But with time, our society became increasingly urbanised, the corridors. We do not do enough as a society to move into a ranch economy.

More than 30 years ago, we should have been there. Again, one of the failures of this country is failure in economic planning with continuity. As for back as the 1950s, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was setting up ranches especially a huge one in northern Ondo that has been disused for some time now. If we had continued with ranches at that time and if the railway system had not collapsed and we could have had a system in Yobe State or Jigawa processing meat put in cold storage in trains would get to Lagos within a day, the people would get their meat easily.

The second part of this sociological challenge is that these herdsmen are entrepreneurs 50 years ago, because you’ll see the cattle belonged to them. But today those cattle we see around probably belong to people in the National Assembly, some governors – even some southerners, who have invested in that business. The herdsmen basically are now labourers with no stake. They are, in fact, going through a transition crisis and there’s no brain to discuss the issue as it is and the simple answer is Islamisation.

Politicians have been accused of fueling the herdsmen-farmers violent conflict. What is your take on that?
The politics of Nigeria is very simple, because most of the politicians have nothing to offer. Therefore, they look for something that creates a cleavage that they can then use a fake or mere sentiment to attract us. So, the failure of the political class is what leads to problems of these cleavages in our society.

You were a special assistant to former President Shehu Shagari. What was the experience like? And how do you feel that the dictator now turned democrat, who toppled that government is ruling now?

First thing about my experience is that I learnt very early. I was 27 years old at the time. But I didn’t get appointed, because I was somebody’s son or uncle. At that age, I had two master’s degrees and a PhD. Therefore, I was coming to the table with something. Not only the degrees I had but I had served in the US as an intern in the US Congress. I knew how the American system worked and that was what I was bringing to the table.
Obviously, I dealt with frustration of the system and I kept talking about the permanent secretary that worked with me – every day I’d not sleep at night working on what we could change in the system to make it work for the Nigerian people. Once I began to talk to the PS, he’d say: ‘you know if you do this you’ll step on the toe of the minister of that.’ One day, I said to him: ‘Mr. PS is there anything that’s possible to do?’ My point is one of the great lessons from my experience was a decision that I made then that I’d never go back into public life without critical enough mass to make a difference.

This was the reason when President Yar’Adua asked me to join his cabinet and I told him I couldn’t give him advice, because but I didn’t want to be a token. To his credit, President Yar’Adua said to me that I’d make a greater difference inside than from outside and I said okay find seven good people and I’d be pleased to be the eighth and then he threw it back at me and said I should find the seven good people and come with them. Unfortunately, he didn’t live long enough. The view I hold about what we’ve been through the years can be found in an interview I gave to the New York Times, January 8, 1984.

In that interview I said Nigeria would one day feel sorry that they had thrown the baby out with the bath water (as many rejoiced over the coup led by Gen. Buhari that ousted the government of Shagari). I think any living Nigerian with brain will know that Nigeria would have moved further ahead today if that coup didn’t take place on December 31, 1983, although – in my view – I was convinced that the coup was done to prevent Dr. Alex Ekwueme from becoming the president in 1987.

Has Buhari made the country more divided or united than he met it?
I think we have been polarised as a country and it is much worse today clearly – whether somebody caused it or not, the bottom line is that the country is more polarised today. It’s important to begin the healing process, which is why I embraced the June 12 honours – it’s a good process.

What areas do you think the present administration should improve on?
Every government everywhere can improve on some areas, because life is work-in-progress – but very importantly, the economy. There’s despair in the land. There’s such a level of unemployment, unhappiness and poverty in the country. I think normal economic policy is not enough anymore.

Meghan Markle’s designer Royal wardrobe is worth THIS much two months after wedding

[Image: meghan-markle-royal-wedding-stella-mccar...0515075232]The Duchess of Sussex has been seen wearing a number of designers

MEGHAN MARKLE’s Royal wardrobe of wedding dresses and garden party attire could be worth upwards of three quarters of a million pounds, according to one Royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex’s wardrobe includes the two dresses that she wore when she married into the Royal Family in May, and it is now the responsibility of the Palace.

Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight Meghan’s astonishing outfits seen so far total an eye-watering amount, but Charles is probably footing the bill for Meghan’s clothing.

She said: “It does fall - now that she is married into the Royal Family - to the Prince of Wales to cover the cost of her working wardrobe.”

The Duchess’ Givenchy gown for her May 19 wedding ceremony is thought to be worth around £334,000.

The dress was seen by millions the world over as the bride walked down the aisle, and the veil was decorated with embroided flowers from every Commonwealth nation.
The second dress the the Duchess wore for the evening reception is thought to have cost another £120,000.
The white Stella McCartney ball gown was praised by fashion fans, as McCartney is known for her sustainable approach to her designs.

“I’m quite sure we will see Meghan step out in outfits that she has worn before.

"When you are buying that sort of couture with those sorts of price tag it would be criminal not to re-wear them.”

On her solo trip to Chester with the Queen, Meghan wore Givenchy again, this time in a cape dress.

The cream caped piece is estimated to have cost over £13,500, and was partnered with close toe heels, as royal protocol dictates.

The trip was the Duchess’ first Royal engagement without Prince Harry.

The Duchess has become somewhat synonymous with Givenchy since she walked down the aisle, and the fashion haus has just launched their new collection.
Clare Waight Keller, Royal Wedding designer and artistic director of Givenchy, presented her newest collection in Paris last night, meaning that we could see some new additions to Meghan’s collection soon.

Searches for Givenchy have soared by 110 percent since the Duchess made it her favourite

Blake Colman 'accidentally' reveals too much of himself in gym selfie

[Image: 4DD5E85800000578-0-image-a-16_1530511346226.jpg]
He branded himself a fraud last month for only uploading social media selfies he deemed 'acceptable'.

But Bachelor in Paradise's Blake Colman appeared to have no issue with his latest topless gym selfie, exposing a little too much of his 'natural form'.

Wearing just a pair of grey tracksuit pants, eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the snap was a little too 'revealing'.

Flirty: Instead of removing the photo over it's suggestive content , the 30 year-old proudly responded: 'Haha, I need to take them back to the pants store 'Your pants are distracting!' Bachelor in Paradise's Blake Colman 'accidentally' revealed a little too much of himself in a recent gym selfie

'Is that a pleat in your pants,' one admirer wrote, 'an optical illusion!'

Instead of removing the photo over it's suggestive content, the 30 year-old proudly responded: 'Haha, I need to take them back to the pants store.'

And after another typed: 'your pants are distracting,' Blake flirtatiously replied, 'eyes up here!'

One then cheekily commented, 'Nice package,' while another sheepishly said, 'not sure where to look!'

Last month, Blake uploaded a close-up topless selfie, admitting he took a string of photos to find an 'acceptable' snap for the app.

'I AM A FRAUD! To be honest, it took me seven photos to choose the one I thought would be 'acceptable' on Instagram,' he wrote in the post.

'I chose this one because my eyes are green with envy,' Blake explained.

'I took three selfies, realised the selfie camera sucks in a sauna then flipped around the camera to blind myself with the flash four times!'

Blake said he dropped the 'truth' bomb because he wanted to send fans a powerful message about self-worth.

[Image: 4D7384AC00000578-5865715-_I_am_a_FRAUD_B...501475.jpg]

'I am a FRAUD!' Last month, Blake apologised for only uploading social media selfies that he deems as 'acceptable' in an impassioned social media post

'It doesn't matter if you feel that you need to take a bunch of photos to get the perfect one or that taking a photo does not phase you, all in all you are who you are and you 100 per cent should be proud and happy!' he wrote.

Blake also revealed he questions whether he's 'good enough' everyday.

'I wake up everyday trying to figure out if I am good enough, if I am going to change someones life today, if I am going to be happy. I just want to say that every single one of you reading this, ARE GOOD ENOUGH!' Blake wrote in the post.

Why DOES Meghan wear heels that are too big for her? Fashion expert reveals the VERY clever reason the Duchess goes a size up in red carpet shoes
[Image: 4DCF946500000578-0-image-a-43_1530443572482.jpg]
Meghan Markle's every fashion footstep results in sell-out trends and copycat versions of her immaculate designer style.

And among the Duchess of Sussex's penchant for shoes, eagle-eyed fans have now noticed her tendency for wearing heels that appear to be at least one size too big.

However, according to fashion stylist Hannah Eichler, Meghan's habit for wearing generously sized shoes is far from coincidental, and is in fact a well-known fashion hack among celebrities.

Hannah says the trick is used among stars to avoid blisters when attending red carpet events which require them to be on their feet for long periods of time, often leading feet to swell.

Well heeled? Eagle-eyed fans have now noticed Meghan Markle's tendency for wearing heels which appear to be at least one size too big, and a stylist has said this is far from coincidental. Pictured at Royal Ascot in June

Speaking to Femail, Hannah explained: 'The latest fashion hack as championed by Meghan Markle, sees stars wearing shoes a size up in a bid to avoid the pinch of post-red carpet feet.

'Whilst sizing up in the footwear department isn’t always the best sartorial statement, there are definite pros and cons to the trick.'

She explains: 'You’ll avoid blisters by going up a size in shoes which feature laser detailing and multiple straps, or when buying cheaper shoes made of man-made materials instead of leather which stretches.

'However, shoes that are too big can cause some of the same issues that occur when you wear shoes that are too small. Shoes which slip can cause irritation from rubbing which can lead to blisters.'

According to fashion stylist Hannah Eichler, Meghan's habit for wearing generously-sized shoes is in fact a well-known fashion hack among the celebrities. Pictured at the Queen's Young Leaders Awards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace last week

Sharing the tips to buying well-fitting shoes, she continued: 'The key to buying perfectly fitting shoes is to always try on footwear in the afternoon when your feet are at their biggest.

'The best style hack to avoid painful shoes is to rub ibuprofen gel onto prime pain spots such as the balls of your feet, heels and toes before you pop your shoes on, and always carry a tube in your handbag so you can apply at four-hour intervals.

'Adding silicone pads or insoles into your shoes will also help to relieve discomfort and help slightly larger-fitting shoes.'

Fashion fans spotted a purse-friendly copy of the shoes on Kurt Geiger's website, featuring the cut-out ankle strap, reduced from £59 to just £29

Explaining that the former Hollywood star doesn't need to 'break shoes' in or stretch them, stylist Lucas Armitage added: 'Meghan won’t repeat shoes so having some room at the back is a sensible option and preferable to having to wear plasters or be in the pain of a shoe rubbing on the back of her foot.'

NNPC Finalises $724m Oil Finance Deal with Schlumberger

•  Accuses governors of inciting public against corporation

By Chineme Okafor in Abuja
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Sunday disclosed it had finalised a crude oil production financing deal it negotiated with Schlumberger for the Anyalu and Madu oil fields under Oil Mining Licences (OMLs) 83 and OML 85, offshore Nigeria.
It said the nod on the deal was given at the weekend in London with the execution of the final contractual agreement between it and the company under a joint venture agreement it has with First E&P.

According to a statement sent to THISDAY in Abuja by the corporation’s Group General Manager Public Affairs, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, the approval came one year after a tripartite term sheet for the financing and technical services arrangement was signed between the NNPC, First E&P and Schlumberger.
Under the agreement, Ughamadu said Schlumberger would provide $724.14 million out of the required project cost of $1.082 billion while the balance of $358.79 million would be funded with cash flows generated by the project.
He said the Anyala and Madu fields were projected to have 193 million barrels of crude oil and 0.637 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves with production plateau of 50,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 120 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscuf/d).
Ughamadu quoted the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, to have said at the signing ceremony that in arriving at the innovative alternative funding package, the corporation was guided by the need to instil transparent and accountable processes.
Baru, he explained, added that NNPC also followed strict compliance with all extant laws, regulations and established governance protocols, as well as overriding national interest and drive to achieve competitive market pricing for such green field project.
Additionally, Baru explained that the NNPC/First E&P joint venture project financing formula came as a creative approach to funding joint venture operations in response to the realities of the prevailing operating environment.
He said: “Apart from aligning wholly with government’s aspiration of increased crude oil and gas production, reserves growth and monetisation of the nation’s enormous gas resources, the model is in tandem with one of the corporation’s 12 Business Focus Areas (BUFAs); ramping up crude oil and gas reserves and production which also supports government’s 7 Big Wins aspirations.”
He said the Schlumberger financing package covers pre-Final Investment Decision (FID) funding, 100 per cent of capital expenditure for three years and pre-production operating expenses.
He added that the package would enable the country to generate $5.60 billion in taxes and royalties and $1.32 billion in net cash flows after Schlumberger’s cost recovery and compensation in line with the terms of the agreement.
NNPC explained that the OMLs 83 and 85 were located in shallow waters 40 kilometres offshore in the Niger Delta, adding that it held 60 per cent interest in the licences while, First E&P, the operator of the joint venture, held the remaining 40 per cent interest.
Apart from providing funding for the development of the fields, NNPC also stated that Schlumberger would provide other oilfield services to the joint venture on a limited exclusive basis.
It explained that a joint project team would drive technology transfer whilst leveraging on the global technical expertise of Schlumberger and the extensive local knowledge of the joint venture partners.
NNPC Accuses Governors of Inciting Nigerians against It
Meanwhile, the NNPC Sunday took a swipe at the 36 state governors over their stance on oil revenue remittance to the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC).
The state oil corporation said the governors were reluctant to pay the monthly salaries of their workers and so using the claim that it had not remitted enough funds to the FAAC to excuse themselves of their obligation to their workers.
It also explained that it was not the custodian of all crude oil revenues accruable to the country, but the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which it claimed has an account where such sales proceeds are deposited.
Ughamadu, in a phone conversation with THISDAY in Abuja, said the corporation was disappointed with the governors whom he explained approved its plan to exit the joint oil venture cash call framework by paying off its outstanding obligations therein.

“The governors under the umbrella of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), antics of rushing to the press at the earliest opportunity of FAAC meeting is most unfortunate, using this as an unfortunate excuse not to pay salaries. It is a ploy to set the public against the NNPC,” said Ughamadu.
He further stated: “Yet, it is the same NGF that approved the cash call exit to restore investors’ confidence and boost crude oil production thereby generating more revenue for them to share,” adding, “All crude oil sales proceeds go straight into the CBN and not NNPC accounts.”
The governors recently claimed the NNPC had not remitted the amount of funds it was reportedly supposed to remit to the FAAC for sharing between the three tiers of government in the country.
This, reportedly led to the postponement of the FAAC last week, with the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, also stating that NNPC’s claims on cost of its operations were outrageous, unacceptable to FAAC and needed to be clarified.
However, the corporation in return alleged that the governors made requests on it to transfer an extra N40 billion for them to share in the FAAC, despite its remittance of N147 billion to the FAAC in the month under consideration for sharing by the three tiers of government.
NNPC equally noted that the extra request by the governors was against the terms of an agreement it had with them on the matter.
Ughamadu said in a statement in this regard that both parties reportedly reached an agreement that the NNPC would make a monthly remittance of N112 billion to FAAC subject to sufficient funds from sales of domestic crude oil allocation for the corresponding month after meeting cash call obligations on joint venture operations, as well as deductions of petrol-cost under recovery and pipeline maintenance.
He noted that for the remittance under contention, the NNPC was able to surpass the terms of its agreement with the governors, and paid the monthly funds over by N35 billion.
He nonetheless explained the corporation’s decision to make the excess payment above the agreed sum was based on the postures of the governors, adding that the extra N35 billion was sourced from the sum meant for settling its joint venture cash call obligations.
According to him, the corporation regretted the governors’ additional request of N40 billion, adding: “It was unfortunate, given the fact that NNPC is set to exit the cash call phenomenon.”

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala And Buhari Meet At The AU 31st Meeting In Mauritania

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari has met with former finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on the sidelines of the 31st session of the AU Summit in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Ngozi recently launched a book on her tenure, which she titled, ‘Fighting Corruption is Dangerous’.

May be the president is telling Ngozi not to scare him in the battle against corruption.

It is doubtful if President Buhari will ever heed her warning, as his government continues to battle the monster of corruption in the country.

FG Shouldn’t Cause Crisis With Ranches – Yoruba Youths
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 09:54 AM - No Replies

The Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association has warned the Federal Government against acquiring land to build cattle ranches for Fulani herdsmen.

The President of the YYSA, Mr. Olalekan Hammed, said in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday that acquiring land for building ranches for herdsmen would cause a serious crisis in the future.

He said the Fulani would later want to claim ownership of such land thereby causing a serious crisis with the people of their host communities.

In order to forestall such future crisis, the youths advised the FG to treat livestock business like other privately-owned businesses so that people from other ethnic groups would not see the government action as trying to favour the Fulani people at the expense of others.

He said, “The Federal Government should not go ahead to acquire land for Fulani people because this will cause a serious crisis in the future. The Chairman of Miyetti Allah has already said that land in the entire country belongs to the Fulani.

“The Federal Government should not acquire land for them in Yorubaland. If Fulani herdsmen want to buy land for their livestock business, they should contact state governments. If there is available land in any state, such state will give them and they will make agreements on the land.

“Livestock business is private business of individuals and the Federal Government should not use the nation’s resources to create ranches for the Fulani. The statement that all land in Nigeria belongs to Fulani shows that they have a hidden agenda to dominate everywhere and this can never be possible.

“So, in order to avoid a crisis which the proposed ranches by the Federal Government would cause in the future, we are advising them against it now. Nobody will cede an inch of Yorubaland to anybody for ranches.”

The YYSA president warned that the Federal Government should not create a bigger problem while trying to solve a problem, saying that would not be seen as patriotism.

Nigerian Man 'Runs Mad' In Togo Beach, Confesses To Money Rituals. Photos/Video
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 09:38 AM - No Replies

A Nigerian man caused a huge public scene earlier today after visiting a beach in Lomé, Togo with his guys. The middle-aged man reportedly went insane at the beach before he was tied up to prevent him from further displaying in public.

In a trending video footage posted online, the man after being tied up can be heard shouting to his friend Kenneth in Igbo dialect that he should take his ATM card from his pocket and use it at a bank close by to withdraw money before they kill him.

The man who appeared mentally unstable also confessed in the video that he did money rituals as he still called on his friend Kenneth to kiss him there because two of them are one. He also tried to show the ring he allegedly used for the money rituals which he said was in his pocket but was restricted due to his condition of being tied up.

While the drama was going on, motorists and passersby gathered at the scene to see for themselves as the man continued to display despite being tied up.

The reason for his public display is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report as no one knows what further happened to him.

  Nigeria’s Export Earnings Rise By 10% To $14.4bn In Q1 2018
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 07-02-2018, 09:32 AM - No Replies

Nigeria’s total export earnings increased by 10.2 per cent to $14.394 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2018 compared with the $12.925 billion recorded in Q4 2017.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disclosed this in its Q1 2018 ‘Brief on Balance of Payments Statistics,’ posted on its website.

The growth in the country’s export earnings in the review period also indicated an increase of about 44.4 per cent when compared to Q1 2017.

But earnings from crude oil and gas, which accounted for 93.3 per cent of total export earnings during the review period, increased by 10.1 per cent to $13,426 billion in Q1 2018, when compared with the preceding quarter.

On the other hand, earnings from non-oil and electricity exports also increased by 12.3 per cent to $967.08 million in the review period, when compared with the preceding quarter.

Also, available data showed that payments for import of goods (free on board) to the economy in the review period grew by 13.9 per cent to $8,642 billion above the level recorded in the preceding period.

This was attributed largely, to a 99.5 per cent increase in the imports of petroleum products.

According to the report, the provisional Balance of Payments (BOP) estimates for Nigeria in Q1 2018 showed a significant improvement in the country’s position as overall, it indicated a surplus of $7,322 billion, compared with a surplus of $6,180billion in the preceding quarter.

It also indicated an improved position, when compared to a surplus of $2.975 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2017.

The current account balance (CAB) also improved significantly from a surplus of $3.656billion in Q4 2017, to a surplus of $4.469 billion in Q1 2018.

“The financial account balance indicated a net acquisition of financial assets of $10.293 billion in the review period as against US$3.859 billion recorded in the preceding period.

“The current account witnessed a positive outcome during the review period, recording a higher surplus of $4.469 billion as against a surplus of US$3.656 billion and $3.418 billion in the previous quarter and corresponding period of 2017, respectively.

“This development was largely attributable to the increased export earnings and the net surplus in current transfers,” it added.

Additionally, the report showed that the surplus in the country’s Goods Account increased to $5.752 billion in Q1 2018 from a surplus of $5.473 billion in the preceding quarter and $2.271 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2017.

However, net out-payments for services during the review period decreased by 5.1 per cent to a deficit of $4.445 billion when compared with the level recorded in Q4 2017.

But when compared with the level in the corresponding period of 2017, it indicated a significant increase of about 201.2 per cent.

The country’s income account (net) also worsened to a debit of $3.272 billion in the review period, from $2.983 billion recorded in the preceding period.

This was significantly different from the $2.278 billion recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

“Current transfers (net) increased by 9.9 and 31.3 per cent to a surplus of $6.434billion in Q1 2018 when compared with the levels in the preceding quarter of 2017 and corresponding period of 2017, respectively.

“Provisional Q1 2018 estimates for the Financial Account showed an increase in net acquisition of financial assets from $3.859 billion recorded in Q4 2017 to $10.293 billion in the review period.

“It also indicated an improved position when compared to the net incurrence of financial liabilities recorded in the corresponding period of 2017.

“The stock of external reserves as at end March 2018 stood at $46.730 billion, indicating an accretion of 18.7 per cent when compared with the preceding quarter.

“When compared with the corresponding period of 2017, it recorded a higher accretion of 55.8 per cent. The reserves could finance approximately 16.2 months of imports, compared with 15.6 and 11.7 months of imports cover for the preceding quarter and corresponding period of 2017, respectively,” it added.

Unapologetic and Fierce: Adesuwa Aighewi The Striking Chinese-Nigerian Model Making Money Moves
[Image: ADESUWA_AIGHEWI_42-680x1024.jpg?resize=680%2C600]
Adesuwa Aighewi the striking Chinese-Nigerian model gracing the pages of fashion magazines and runways the world over is the talk of the moment. Adesuwa is described as one of fashion’s most outspoken models.
Adesuwa Aighewi is a force to be reckoned with. She’s walked for the likes of Coach, Gucci, and Chanel, Mara Hoffman, Kenzo, DKNY, Vivienne Westwood, Sophie Theallet and Yeezy (Seasons 2, 3, and 4).
She’s also appeared in editorials for Vogue, i-D, NYLON, Office and Pop but Adesuwa is more than just a pretty face with a perfect body. She is referred to as the voice of models and the bridge between the West, Asia and Africa in terms of inclusion and diversity. “There is no order or singular path in terms of a girl’s career or a guidebook for said model,” she reflects. Anything can happen but that’s life, you know. I think I’ve got a hold of it now.”

Her History

Adesuwa born in Minnesota and grew up in Benin City. She got discovered on her university campus studying chemistry at Prince George’s County, Maryland. She later relocated to Los Angeles to focus on her burgeoning career in fashion. “Before modelling, I thought I was going to be a doctor, eventually graduate and be a diplomat and work for the UN,” she once said.

Adesuwa is of Nigerian, Chinese and Thai descent. “I’m the second of four. Two girls and two boys. We all look identical but with different hair types,” she says. They grew up in Africa but moved a lot. “I’ve stopped paying attention to the timeline and travel. I have an app called ‘Places I’ve Pooped’ where you ‘drop a pin’ wherever you go. Soon my map will be solid, no pun intended,” she tells fashionising.com

“I thank my stars I was raised with some pretty radical parents or I wouldn’t have found my way back. A good foundation is necessary — even if you leave home early like I did, you can always find your way back.”

Her Influence

Adesuwa is described as one of fashion’s most outspoken models. Speaking to Dazed Magazine she says: “I’ve learned a lot about myself and the world to a certain extent; I went from getting recognition (for) my intellect to a heavy focus on the physical and it really did my head in,” she says. “I never cared about the way I looked, but being in fashion that’s all there is. I had to learn how to carry and present myself to the world visually and conduct myself as such.”

Adesuwa wants to use her increasingly high profile to “change negative narratives of my people and those like me, and to collaborate with like-minded people to instigate change.” “I want to do documentaries that change the way people view Africa.”

Her Fashion Activism

“In the past, fashion liked black girls to have really long weaves, or really straight hair to emulate white women and ‘fit in’,” she wrote in an op-ed for The Guardian last year. “It’s something that affects female models far more than men. But more recently, black women have been saying, ‘No, I’m not going to straighten my hair.’ There is a growing sense of pride in African Americans and it’s having a trickle-down effect into fashion.”

Last year when she decided she wanted to lock her hair, her agents advised her against it saying it might be too extreme and difficult for some stylist to work on. But she did it anyway and her unique look has been good for business.

Her Personal Style

Adesuwa describes her style as “Granthot,” a combination of the zeitgeisty descriptors “thot” with “grandma. It’s a very effortless mix of relaxed, patterned and chic vibes.

“People don’t tell me I’m beautiful anymore. They say I have a nice look. I forget what I look like and quite frankly get tired of seeing my face all in the same breath,” she explains. “My idea of beauty is still the same: Your inner light will do just fine. It’s what my parents taught me.”

Morning Devotional For Monday 2nd July
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 2ND JULY.

HE ENERGISES YOU FROM WITHIN.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).

Some Christians, in trying to excuse their spiritual ineptitude will say, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak,” quoting the Lord Jesus’ statement to Peter in Matthew 26:41, and Mark 14:38. But it wasn’t a commendation; moreover, it was before the Holy Ghost came.

Prior to receiving the Holy Spirit, Peter, though willing to stand with Jesus at all cost, couldn’t. He had said, “Master, I’ll never deny you” (Matthew 26:35). But after Jesus was arrested, when a servant girl challenged him saying, “I know you, you’re with Jesus of Galilee,” Peter denied (Matthew 26:69-70). He was intimidated, not even by the soldiers, but by a young girl. “The spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak,” because Peter hadn’t yet received the Holy Spirit.

After he received the Holy Spirit, the same Peter spoke so boldly and passionately about Jesus to the multitude. His words were so full of power and conviction that the people exclaimed, “...what shall we do to be saved?” (Acts 2:37). The Bible records that three thousand of them gave their hearts to Christ on that occasion.

When you receive the Holy Spirit, things change, because He energises you from within. He makes you willing and able to do His will. What a glorious ministry of the Holy Spirit in us as new creations!

Let’s read the opening verse again, this time, in the Amplified Translation: “…for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” Wow! God, through the Holy Spirit, is effectually at work in you, prompting you, stirring up in you the willingness to do of His good pleasure, and energising you to perform it. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

God is effectually at work in me, energising me, and creating in me the power and desire to please Him in all things, as I walk in His perfect will, fulfilling my destiny in Him. I’m His excellent workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Blessed be His Name forever!

FURTHER STUDY:

Philippians 2:13 AMPC [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.

Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

2ND JULY.

I affirm that I am a new creation; I’m a brand new man! Old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new. I am one with the Father and He has made me the dispenser of His glory, wisdom, grace, and excellence. He has imparted the divine life into my spirit through His Son Jesus Christ.
That life in me destroys, paralyzes, and renders ineffective the works of the devil and his attempts in my life, family, finances, and business. Hallelujah! The excellence and virtues of divinity are manifested in, and through, me in ever-increasing splendour! I’m continually transfigured from glory to glory, by the Spirit, as I behold the glory of God in the Word. I am not ordinary; I am God’s living tabernacle, the embodiment of His person. I am born of God and I have the same quality of life with Him. Though I live in this world, I am not of this world; I am from above and my origin is God. Thus, I refuse to be subject to the elements of this world or its corrupting influences. I’ve been divinely enabled to walk in prosperity, health, success, and victory. All things are working together for my good! When I step into a place, things start working because I carry heaven on the inside of me.
The life of God in me makes me an impregnable breed, one that is not subject to sickness, defeat or failure. I am an absolute success and victor in life. I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all principalities, powers, might, and dominions. I am made for life and my profiting through the Word is manifest unto all. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

A two year old child who was constantly maltreated by her uncle in Akamkpa local government area of Cross River state, has been rescued. It was revealed that the girl's uncle (her father's elder brother) tied her to a guava tree and set fire on her. According to her uncle, he did it because she poos around.

As a result of the fire, she sustained high degree injuries. Her feet are burnt as she's not able to stand nor sit.

Apart from the injuries, she is looking malnourished and terribly under weight. She sleeps outside on a make shift bed not even good enough for a dog let alone a human being.

She was rescued by Child Protection Network (CPN) Akamkpa, and brought to Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (#BRCI). She is currently under going treatment. The uncle has been arrested and BRCI will press for prosecution.

IPOB's more formidable now than ever before-Emma Powerfully tells TheCable

[*]IPOB's more formidable now than ever before-Emma Powerfully tells TheCable

For some years now, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been on the forefront in the struggle for the creation of a sovereign state. With the absence of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, during the time of Operation Python Dance, as well as the branding of the group as a terrorist organization, many believe the end is near for the group. But in this email interview with TheCable, Emma Powerful, spokesman of IPOB, said contrary to such belief, the group is more formidable now than it has ever been. He also spoke on a variety of issues including what has become of IPOB in Kanu’s absence, if the group would accept an option to dialogue with the federal government, the newly launched Hausa radio service as well as what a sovereign state of Biafra will look like.

TheCable: Some people find it difficult to believe that IPOB leaders do not know where Nnamdi Kanu is, can you convince us that you do not know Kanu’s whereabouts?
Powerful: Those that find it difficult to believe that the leadership of IPOB does not know where our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is are the same people that feign ignorance of the fact that the army invaded his residence. They are the same people that failed to hear Defence Minister General Mansur Dan Ali confirm on Channels TV during an interview that Nigerian government sent soldiers to invade the home of our leader and to capture him. Every right-thinking person knows the army went to kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on the 14th of September 2017 because there can never be any other plausible explanation as to why the army will truncate an ongoing judicial process by doing the work of the police. The question all right-thinking people should ask the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) is this; is it the duty of the army to be running round in armoured tanks looking for the enemies of Buhari to arrest? Nigerian Army, for those who might still be feigning ignorance of the fact, does not have the constitutional right to arrest anybody. Whenever soldiers arrest and molest people, as they normally do in Nigeria, they are breaking the law. That is what the Abdulsalami Abubakar 1999 Constitution says. But in Nigeria, law enforcement agencies and even the law courts don’t know what the constitution says. They are ignorant of their own laws. Those that invaded our leader’s residence went there to kill him his family and parents, or else they would have waited for him to appear in court on the 17th of October 2017. Buratai and his army are in the best position to answer any question regarding the whereabouts of our leader, especially at this time everybody, including non-Biafrans, are missing his inspirational leadership.

On the day Kanu was released from Kuje prison in Abuja. He spent 18 months in detention

TheCable: Since the Python Dance operation, not much has been heard of the group regarding the Biafra agitation, does this mean the government has succeeded in weakening IPOB?
Powerful: Where did this patently false impression come from that IPOB has been weakened? Weakened in what way? If the media fails to carry to our news to your audience, then the “misleading” narrative peddled by Lai Mohammed and Nnia Nwodo that IPOB has been weakened, may be sustained in the minds of the gullible. But the truth remains that IPOB is more formidable now than ever. Despite the draconian and brutal crackdown on us, we have continued to hold rallies and protests. New IPOB family units are springing up all over the world. We successfully rallied in Onitsha before the successful boycott of Anambra governorship election. We also rallied in Aba on January 20, 2018 in remembrance of those killed last year during President Trump’s inauguration rally in Igweocha. Indiscriminate arrest, illegal detention and harassment of IPOB members have continued unabated. We stopped the treacherous Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership led by Nnia Nwodo in Lagos and also at Enugu during the ‘Handshake across the Niger’ event. Nobody born of a woman can weaken IPOB.
TheCable: Can you tell us the main idea behind the launch of Hausa radio service, do you think the government will let the station fly?
Powerful: Hausa Service of Radio Nigeria, mind you not Radio Biafra, was launched in response to the failed attempt by the Department of State Service (DSS) to infiltrate and destroy IPOB from within. The Nigerian government created a parallel radio station which we have since renamed Radio Buhari International to reflect its true ownership. They proceeded to launch another radio on a shortwave frequency with our sacred name. Both stations are based in the US. They named a non-existent person the leader of the great IPOB and claimed our leader and founder Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been replaced by this nonentity. It was at this point we decided late last year to launch a Hausa language service to take our unique enlightenment to oppressed ethnic minorities in the north because no enlightened society can swallow such junk. There is quality information deficit across the north which this Hausa radio service run by IPOB will address.

Soldiers on the street of Abia

TheCable: While some of your followers and members have welcomed the launch of a Hausa radio service, some Nigerians see it as a coy to gain the sympathy of the north. Why the choice of Hausa when there are other languages around the south-east? Why not any language from the south-south?
Powerful: We chose the Hausa language because the majority of those at the receiving end of the falsehood propagated by the cabals in the north are their fellow core northerners. Educating the down-trodden masses of the north to understand the evil being committed in their name is important the most important assignment today. We are convinced that mass illiteracy and lack of access to unbiased information is the reason why a majority of Hausa Fulani people live in abject poverty and ignorance while their ruling class loot and accumulate all the wealth accruing to them.
TheCable: IPOB failed in its bid to stop last year’s governorship election in Anambra, what are your plans for the 2019 general election?
Powerful: Who told you IPOB failed in our bid to stop the elections in Anambra state? We successfully boycotted the elections as a prelude to what the world will witness come 2019. Less than 1% of eligible voters bothered to turn up to vote. That was the reason INEC spent days doing their best to bump up the figures to a respectable level. This, they succeeded in doing because the Abuja anointed politicians don’t want the world to know that power has slipped from them back into the hands of the masses. They don’t want the world to know how potent IPOB is but we know that they know. We have variously challenged INEC to publish the original result sheets collated from polling stations around the state to prove that less than 1% voted but to no avail. Go around Anambra state today and hear people testify that elections were totally boycotted. Where INEC got the figures they announced, only them can say. Election rigging, manipulation of results and inflation of voter figures is nothing new in Nigeria. They are panicking already because we have demonstrated that our people listen to IPOB and no other. 2019 will be a year to remember because, in so far as Biafraland is concerned, there will be no voting.
TheCable: Is IPOB willing to come to the negotiation table if the federal government invites it for dialogue?
Powerful: The answer is no, because Nigeria is not yet civilised enough to understand what dialogue means, neither are they known for keeping to the terms of any agreement reached. Name one agreement Nigeria entered into that ran its course. They think we are for settlement, how mistaken they are. We would only consider meeting them through a third party or mediator. History tells us that all conflicts end up on the conference table. Bearing this in mind, we would be willing to discuss with civilised sensible parties on how best to speedily facilitate the peaceful dissolution of Nigeria. Nigeria’s condition is a condition that is clearly unsustainable. The best way to go is referendum.

Ojukwu: He started the Biafra struggle

TheCable. Will an Igbo presidency in 2019 make IPOB back down on its quest for a sovereign state of Biafra?
Powerful: Nothing can make IPOB back down from this divine quest to restore the lost sovereignty of Biafra. Only the will of the people, clearly expressed during a referendum. We hear Nnia Nwodo, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Igbo governors and Abuja based errand boys, we ignorantly refer to as politicians or elite, tell us south-east and south-south do not want Biafra, which is a lie. There is only one way to establish the truth and settle this matter once and for all time. That is referendum. If we lose in a referendum, we stop the agitation for Biafra same day. The will of the people is what must prevail under this and every circumstance.
TheCable: Many of those who do not support your ideology have expressed dissatisfaction over what they describe as your violent approach — something very different from the method Odumegwu Ojukwu adopted while on the struggle for Biafra. What do you have to say?
Powerful: It is very sad and unfortunate that people don’t know the meaning of the phrase ‘violent approach’ as you put it. Violence doesn’t need dressing up in convoluted grammar because a situation is either violent or it is not. Those people peddling the myth that IPOB preach violence are the same Abuja rent boys and slaves. They will do and say anything to please their masters in order to hold on to political power and privilege. The same way Britain imposed unwanted corrupt men as warrant chiefs across Biafraland during the colonial era to their purpose is exactly the template the north adopted in the aftermath of the civil war to dominate, control and subjugate Igbo land and the rest of Biafraland. Have you heard of any emir, sultan, governor or politician from the north condemn herdsmen who are actively killing people on a daily basis? You know the answer to that? Only in Igbo land will a washed out politician beholden to Abuja for his dear life, rise to the position of a leader. No other society will accept such anomaly. IPOB is not violent and we don’t intend to pick up arms anytime soon, when we do, the world will know.
TheCable. You have other groups also agitating for Biafra, among which MASSOB is also included. Why can’t pro-Biafra agitators come under one umbrella and form a major front?
Powerful: This is another misconception I must correct now. All genuine groups agitating for Biafra restoration came together, when our leader was released from illegal detention early last year, to declare unanimously that he is the undisputed leader and arrowhead of the new agitation for Biafra restoration. IPOB cannot stop DSS or Lai Mohammed’s ministry of information from setting up a new Biafra group on a daily basis if they so choose. There is biting hunger and poverty in the land, so there will be regular supply of hungry people willing to accept pittance, for sake of preservation, to answer a pro-Biafra group. Groups come and go but IPOB remains. In as much this dispensation of our agitation for a sovereign Biafra is concerned, there is only one leader, Nnamdi Kanu and one organisation, IPOB, that resonates around the world. We remain without doubt the most organised and most potent freedom fighting outfit on this earth bar none.
TheCable: If Biafra comes to fruition today, how does IPOB want it run? Will it be a democratic nation? What is the IPOB idea of a sovereign state of Biafra?
Powerful: Biafra will be an open transparent society where laws protecting individual rights and freedoms will form the bedrock or foundation upon which the nation rests. Every political process will be democratised, from the election of the president, prime minister, members of parliament to district judges and police chiefs. There will be no siren escort for political office holders because all men will be genuinely equal before the law. It will become a criminal offence for any law enforcement officer to arrest a citizen without valid reason that can stand up to scrutiny on a court of law. Nobody will be prosecuted or persecuted for anything they say. There will be absolute freedom of speech. If the prime minister feels hurt by what is written against her or him, they should head to the courts and bring a libel suit, rather than telling the police chief or IG to arrest the person. The police in Biafra will not be routinely armed and on no account must the army be mobilised to do police work. Any army officer seen on the street with his uniform will be arrested, court-martialed and dismissed unless the country is at war. Basically, Biafra will be the complete opposite of Nigeria.

I’ll Open A Can Of Worms, Says Abaribe

The controversy trailing the 2018 budget may not have abated as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Electricity, Iron, Steel and Meteorology, Senator Eyinaya Abaribe says he would open a can of worms that must have precipitated his arrest when the Senate resumes plenary on Tuesday.

Responding to Sunday Telegraph’s enquiry on the heels of his release last week after spending five days in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly declined comments, but said would keep sealed lips till that day.

Sources close to the Senator, however, said his recent arrest and detention was designed cow because of his protest over unlawful padding of the power budget by N30billion by yet to be identified highly placed person(s) in the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing after its passage by the National Assembly.

“In the 2018 Appropriation Act, the National Assembly discovered a disparity to the tune of N30billion in the budget passed by them and the one assented to by the President.

A new item under code 1010927, titled: ‘Expansion and Reinforcement of Infrastructure in 11 Distribution Companies to Reduce Stranded Generation Capacity,’ was noticed by lawmakers,” the source said.

The discovery, our source said, has compelled other committees in both houses to carry out a comparative study of what they approved in the Appropriation Act, and what was contained in the copy signed into law by the President.

“I was when the report was to be made known by Abaribe, Senate Spokesman and his counterpart in the House of Representatives that Abaribe was arrested.

“I was there during the arrest. Eight security operatives visited the house; two manned the gates while the other six searched through every document in the house.

We were told they were looking for weapons, but no such was found. “They even saw Mrs. Abaribe marking some school scripts, but they took her laptop computer and examined it for any incriminating content.

But again nothing was found. During his detention, he was given statement sheets on many occasions to see whether he would contradict himself, but he failed to do so,” the source said. The source added that the leadership of the National Assembly which believed the arrest was designed to intimidate the senator also visited the Director of SSS over the matter, to formally lodge a complaint over the matter.

The National Assembly wondered why the executive complained about alteration in the budget because the former introduced 6,403 projects critical infrastructures totaling N578 billion and slicing other allocations, when it inserted new project after its passage.

However, when contacted, Senator Abaribe declined comments on the issue, he rather said he could only speak extensively on it when the National Assembly resumes this week.

Responding to the allegation, Special Adviser to the Power, Works and Housing Minister, Mr. Hakeem Bello, said it is illogical for anyone to claim that a new item was introduced into a budget already passed by the National Assembly, just before Mr. President signed it into law.

“It is very illogical to make such claim. If anyone injects a new item into the bill before the President signs it into law, will the Ministry of Finance release such fund for it?

I don’t know what they are talking about, and if the Senator wants to open any can of worms, we are waiting to see it,” he said

Britain, Nigeria explore listing naira bonds in London
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 07-01-2018, 05:29 PM - No Replies

Britain and Nigeria are exploring ways to list naira-denominated bonds on the London Stock Exchange to help fund infrastructure projects in the West African country, the City of London’s Lord Mayor told Reuters.

Charles Bowman, who acts as an ambassador for the British capital’s financial district, made the comments during a three-day visit to Nigeria during which he held talks with the vice president, trade minister and representatives of both Nigeria’s stock exchange and central bank.

Nigeria, once a darling for frontier investors, suffered its worst recession in a generation in 2016 after the price of its main export – oil – collapsed.

It has since recovered but growth is fragile, with dilapidated infrastructure holding it back.

“We are looking at clever methods of essentially being able to list, by way of example naira-denominated bonds, but having those listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Having local bonds with an access point into the London Stock Exchange,” said Bowman.

Bowman, speaking to Reuters in an interview in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos, did not provide specific details of who had been involved in the talks, how advanced discussions were or when such a move could take place.

“We have a lot of capital in London but we don’t have the projects to support.

Nigeria has lots of projects to support and not the capital – you are reliant on the banking structure,” said Bowman.

“Unleash the capital market, link London and Nigeria and what a great opportunity,” he said.

Britain voted in 2016 to leave the European Union, which has forced London to rethink its trade ties with the rest of the world. The United Kingdom and the EU struck an agreement in December that opened the way for talks on future trade ties.

“Nigeria is an example where in due course one would hope to have a profitable, pragmatic free trade agreement,” said the lord mayor.

His comments come after Britain in February said its export finance agency would add the naira to its list of “pre-approved currencies”, allowing it to provide financing for transactions with Nigerian businesses denominated in the local currency.

He said the finance agency has so far provided 20 million pounds to local businesses from its 750 million pound facility.

Britain is due to leave the EU in March next year, a month after presidential elections are scheduled to take place in Nigeria.

Bowman said peaceful elections next year could help boost Nigeria’s image abroad and attract the sort of capital badly needed in the West African nation to develop infrastructure and propel growth.

No Crude Oil Found In Bida Basin Yet - Baru, NNPC GMD
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 07-01-2018, 05:17 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, has said that the speculations that oil has been found in commercial quantity in the Bida Basin should be discountenanced, stressing that the search for oil in the basin is still ongoing.

Dr. Baru made this submission while delivering his acceptance speech during his conferment with the fellowship award by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) University, Lapai on Saturday.

Speaking on the topic: “The Role of Inland Basins in Unlocking the Socio-Economic Benefits of a New Nigeria”, he posited that NNPC was desirous of discovery of oil and gas in the frontier basins, stressing however that the corporation was currently at the fourth, out of ten intensive stages, of determining if hydrocarbon has been generated in the basin.

The NNPC helmsman averred that upon completion of determination of hydrocarbon generated, the corporation would initiate another six stages of integration of the studies to identify positive hydrocarbon anomalies, acquisition of 2D seismic data over anomalies, acquisition of 3D seismic data to validate identified structures, drilling of exploration wells, drilling of appraisal wells and evaluation of the engineering and economic parameters required.

He emphasized that NNPC recognised that the Bida basin exploration was in the fourth stage of these activities, adding that it is important to state that efforts have not advanced to the level of declaring discoveries, talk-less of claiming that the oil and gas present is in commercial quantities.

“It is also imperative to state that even after commercial discovery of hydrocarbons, it is pertinent that pronouncements be made only after due validation of claims by the Industry Regulator - the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR),” Dr. Baru advised.

He expressed the hope that with the clarity provided, all claims and counter claims in respect of the Bida basin hydrocarbon discoveries would be given the befitting rest they deserve, advising that until the conclusion of the current NNPC-led efforts or any other ones in that respect, all claims should be discountenanced.

Dr. Baru maintained that the corporation’s foray into the inland basins was to expand its exploration footprint with a view to improving the nation’s oil and gas reserves, increase oil and gas production and spinoff socio-economic activities across the country.

According to him, NNPC through its relevant subsidiaries is currently engaged in aggressive exploration campaign at most inland basins with a view to discovering new oil and gas reserves that will boost oil and gas production and the extended economic benefits to the people within those basins and the nation at large.

Dr. Baru maintained that NNPC, as the concessionaire of all the blocks in these basins, is committed to working with all stakeholders around the Bida basin and beyond to advance the current efforts to fruition and thereafter follow all the laid down regulations for reporting such discoveries.

“It is our utmost desire that the success of the ongoing exploration campaign in the Inland Basins will usher in a new Nigeria. A new Nigeria with balanced resources distribution; diverse economic activities and sustained energy security as we move towards the industrialised economy we all desire,” the GMD said.

Dr. Baru applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for giving the corporation the mandate and all the necessary support and encouragement to lead a renewed search for oil in the inland basins, adding that the Niger State Government has been very helpful towards the cause of securing Nigeria’s energy future as exemplified by its support for the NNPC exploration activities in the Bida basin.

He also commended the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University with respect to the studies carried out on the characterisation of the Bida basin, stressing that the studies would help NNPC in the ongoing exploration activities in the basin.

According to him, the corporation would from time-to-time engage the University for further support in areas relating to the ongoing exploration in Bida basin. “Ours is a symbiotic collaborative relationship with this ivory tower,” he concluded.

The State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Yahaya Bello, expressed gratitude to the NNPC for engaging the University on the basin exploration, saying that the GMD deserves the recognition bestowed on him by the university.

On his part, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Mohammed Santuraki, gave kudos to Dr. Baru on the efficient way he runs NNPC thereby impacting the lives of Nigerians positively.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Muhammad Nasirudeen Maiturare, thanked Dr. Baru and the NNPC for partnering with the University in the Bida basin exploratory activities, assuring that the University would continue to contribute its quota to the oil search in the basin.

Prof. Maiturare averred that the GMD of NNPC was deserving of the fellowship award, given the corporation’s quest to grow the nation’s reserves base and spread the oil exploration map across the country.

Meghan Markle attempts to break royal protocol
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-01-2018, 01:22 PM - No Replies

Being royalty may sound like a blast -- in fact, as far as fantasies go, it's up there with winning the lotto and showing up to your high school reunion the exact same size as when you graduated.
But the reality is, those fancy titles come with a whole list of rules that must be followed at all times -- and for the rest of your life.
It's a sad fact of palace life that Harry has known about since birth and that Meghan Markle is just now finding out about.
Harry and Meghan have been married for about six weeks now, but it seems she still has a lot to learn about life in the Windsor court.
We're sure Harry and others tried to prepare Meghan for the many strictures of royal protocol, but that's like trying to prepare a college kid for the real world.
You just don't know until you're really in it.
Anyway, Meghan is a new Duchess, but she's also a new wife.
And it seems that the required formality of the former occasionally comes into conflict with the romantic giddiness of the latter:
Prince Harry to Meghan Markle: No Hand-Hold For You
As you can see, it looks as though Meg makes a move toward holding Harry's hand here.
And he shuts down the maneuver with the speed and agility of a born athlete.
If Harry hadn't been born a prince, he could've played quidditch, or whatever the hell they do in England.
We're sure Harry meant no harm in refusing to take Meg's hand, but such a public rebuke had to sting a little.
It's not hard to see why Meghan may have thought it would be okay to hold Harry's hand at a royal engagement.
In fact, those no written rule against it.
“The Queen rarely holds hands with her husband in public and this seems to have set an unwritten precedent for the other royals,” Body language expert Robin Kermode tells The Daily Mail.
Kermode adds that Harry may have simply been taking a cue from his older brother, saying:
“It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love – particularly when on official state business.”
We guess it's just one of those things you learn with time.
To extend out earlier college/real world metaphor, there's no law against getting hammered on two-for-one Tuesdays when you have work in the morning, but you quickly learn that it's not the best idea.
These days, Meg is like a 22-year-old intern retching into her wastebasket and giving closer consideration to the possibility of grad school.
You know, we may have just taken that analogy a step too far.
As with royal PDA, we didn't know where the line was until we crossed it!

Kate Middleton Trash-Talks Meghan Markle Daily (Report)
Ever since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, there have been rumors about the former actress struggling to fit in with the royals.
These reports were inevitable of course, but they've been somewhat more vicious and persistent than we anticipated.
Insiders (or people purporting to be insiders, or tabloid columnists writing as imaginary insiders) claim that Meghan has breached royal protocol several times in her six weeks as a Duchess.[/url]

Kate Middleton, on the other hand, is reportedly loving every minute of it.
A source tells the never-reliable Star magazine that Kate has been “gleefully watching Meghan’s blunders from the sidelines.”
Those blunders include such egregious offenses as wearing a dress that didn't cover her shoulders.
Oh, and let's not forget the time that Meghan tried to hold Harry's hand in public!
[Image: meghan-markle-and-kate-middleton-together.jpg]
We're still clutching our pearls over that one.

Apparently, Kate is supposed to be helping Meghan out with all this confusing nonsense, but when the time came to lend a hand to her fellow lapsed peasant, she was all like, nah:
“You’d think that as a fellow commoner, she’d be sympathetic to how Meghan is struggling, but Kate feels threatened by Meghan’s popularity,” the insider reveals.
“Kate takes potshots at Meghan every chance she gets and makes a point to tell the queen about all the things Meghan is doing wrong.”
Oh, what we would give to hear Kate flex that stiff upper lip to spit some royal zingers.
"Ay bish, you used to be on Suits but you couldn't find a tailor for that baggy-ass wedding dress?"
"I heard you were a model on Deal on No Deal. Maybe you should've said no deal to that fugly hat, nahmean?""[url=https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/gallery/the-new-duchess/]

And so forth.
Anyway, it all sounds very far-fetched, but this isn't the first report we've heard that Kate and Meg aren't exactly beasties:
"Kate feels like Meghan has barely made any effort with her and is more interested in impressing [Queen Elizabeth],” a source recently told some tabloid called Closer Weekly.
"Kate feels left out. She spent years working on her image as 'the perfect royal,' and Meghan is stealing her thunder,"
Yes, a real feud might be taking place among the duchesses.
If only we could convince them to star in a reality show about their classy beef.

Matt Cappotelli, Former WWE Tough Enough Winner, Dead at 38
User Avatar Forum: Sports World

Matt Cappotelli, the winner of WWE's Tough Enough Season 3, lost his brave battle with cancer on Friday morning,
He was 38 years old.
This sad piece of news was confirmed a couple hours ago by Cappotelli's wife, Lindsay, who wrote in a statement:
"Today my love-my strong, sweet, beautiful love-took his last breath at 3:30 a.m. and went Home to be with Jesus exactly one year after his brain surgery.
"You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t.
"The only person who’s comfort I want right now is the one who can’t give it to me. I miss him so much. I know where he is now is so much better, but it doesn’t change how much I miss him."
Cappotelli underwent a second surgery to remove a brain tumor about a year ago, in June of 2017.
This procedure took place a decade after he had another one removed and, as a result, was forced to cut his professional wrestling career short.
Tragically, though, this surgery did not solve the health problem.
In December, Cappotelli was told he had a Grade 4 tumor that was too close to his brain to operate.
He knew his days were numbered after this diagnosis.
Tough Enough, meanwhile, was a reality-type show that the WWE owned and operated.
It pitted a number of aspiring grapplers against each other, with the winner each season earning a WWE contract and a shot at true stardom.
Think American Idol, but for the wrestling world.
After winning Season 3, Cappotelli made multiple appearances on Monday Night Raw and went on work with developing talent in Ohio Valley Wrestling.
However, the Louislve resident retired professionally as a wrestler in 2007 due to these health concerns.
In response to his passing, numerous WWE stars and others who knew Matt well paid him tribute on Twitter.

WWE star Kassius Ohno wrote:

And then there was this from Bill DeMott:

"My love and prayers go out to Matts wife Lindsay and the family. #TeamCapp #RIPMAtt."
Cappotelli's passing comes just about a week after WWE legend Vader also passed away.

Obasanjo, Ex-generals Plot Against Buhari’s Reelection
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-01-2018, 12:10 PM - No Replies

Quote:Some retired generals may have formed a secret coalition to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential Election. Sunday Oguntola reports on the inside details of the plot.

INVESTIGATION has shown that some ex-generals, led by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, are perfecting plans to stop the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

It was learnt that because of their disagreements with some key policies of Buhari administration, the ex-generals have formed what a source called “a strong coalition against Buhari’s second term ambition in 2019.”

The army of opposition

Some of the prominent ex-generals presently associated to the coalition, according to our findings, include Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma, former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Zamani Lekwot and General Joshua Dongoyaro, among others.

It was learnt that though the ex-generals also have personal issues among themselves leading to mutual suspicion, they may have decided to jettison them for the purpose of fighting a cause they consider fundamental to their individual survival.

All the prominent ex-generals so far linked to the coalition reportedly have personal axes to grind with the current administration over several issues; it was learnt, leaving them no option than to unite against Buhari, who they now consider a common enemy.

The plot, according to sources, is spearheaded by Obasanjo, who on January 23 wrote Buhari to put his reelection bid on hold, accusing him of non-performance.

The letter, sources confided, was carefully scripted and timed to rally other ex-generals who were skeptical over the workability of the plans.

Once the letter became public knowledge, many of them reportedly became more relaxed and comfortable with the group, pledging to stop at nothing to ensure the defeat of the president at the 2019 poll.

It was gathered that the ex-generals, some of whom served under Obasanjo in the military, have been holding surreptitious meetings for over a year on how to stop Buhari.

Investigations revealed several of the meetings held in Abuja while a few elements in the coalition have also met overseas to perfect strategies on how to stop Buhari at all costs.

Part of the plot, according to sources, is to mount a campaign of non-performance, highlighting the many weaknesses and drawbacks of the current administration with a view to discrediting it.

A source privy to the meetings told our correspondent: “The first thing is to attempt to badmouth the Buhari’s administration by showing where it is not doing so well.

“The thinking is that once Nigerians begin to think less of the administration and its weaknesses are promoted, they will become disenchanted and look for alternatives.

“That is why Obasanjo has been relentless in telling everyone that Buhari has failed. It is a line he will keep repeating for the remaining months to the election. The strategy clearly is to say this man has failed to meet your expectations so look for someone else to fix the nation.”

Aiming for the spine

Obasanjo, who has accepted the daunting task of being the brain-box and face of the coalition, has been harping on the economic performances of the current administration, declaring them as appalling.

In his January 23 letter, the former President had stated: “I knew President Buhari before he became President and said that he is weak in the knowledge and understanding of the economy but I thought that he could make use of good Nigerians in that area that could help.

“Although, I know that you cannot give what you don’t have and that economy does not obey military order. You have to give it what it takes in the short-, medium- and long-term. Then, it would move.

“I know his weakness in understanding and playing in the foreign affairs sector and again, there are many Nigerians that could be used in that area as well. They have knowledge and experience that could be deployed for the good of Nigeria.”

The insecurity challenge, especially the herdsmen attacks, also offers the coalition a massive outlet to bark at the administration. Again, Obasanjo touched on this in his letter.

He had stated: “The herdsmen/crop farmers issue is being wittingly or unwittingly allowed to turn sour and messy. It is no credit to the Federal Government that the herdsmen rampage continues with careless abandon and without finding an effective solution to it.

“And it is a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness that some governors, a day after 73 victims were being buried in a mass grave in Benue State without condolence, were jubilantly endorsing President Buhari for a second term! The timing was most unfortunate.

“The issue of herdsmen/crop farmers’ dichotomy should not be left on the political platform of blame game; the Federal Government must take the lead in bringing about solution that protects life and properties of herdsmen and crop farmers alike and for them to live amicably in the same community.”

The allegation of collusion by the military in the recent killings across the nation by Danjuma last March was also part of the well-planned strategy to expose the current administration to public outcry.

Danjuma’s outburst on alleged ethnic cleansing sat well with many in the northcentral who consider him a cult-figure in political and security affairs.

It was gathered that the coalition has compiled a list of weaknesses or drawbacks of the current administration, which would be highlighted at different fora from time to time.

A source said they will also work with pressure groups, civil society organisations and human rights bodies, whose primary role would be to organise protests and demonstrations across the nation to create a sense of dissatisfaction against the Buhari government.

Battle for global acceptance

There are indications that the civil society organisations are currently being mobilised by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) with a history of good working relationship and vast networks with the bodies.

It was gathered during the week that very soon, the civil society groups will start unleashing statements and position papers, which would be followed up with peaceful protests across the nation to expose the needs for Nigerians to reject Buhari at the poll.

Another plank of the well-articulated ploy is to mount a campaign against the administration at the international scene to sell to world powers the idea of defeating Buhari.

This strategy, which was also well-deployed against former President Goodluck Jonathan, is directly coordinated by Obasanjo using his vast network and connections in the international scene.

It is believed that the international community is considered crucial to the Buhari-must-go campaign because of the likely consequences and implications on their economic pacts and interests.

But the recent appearance of Buhari at the White House on the invitation of United States President Donald Trump reportedly threw spanner in the wheel of the coalition.

The temporary setback probably made Danjuma to lead a delegation on a lobbying session in Washington DC last May; an action our source said was designed to counter whatever gains Buhari’s government would have made from the US visit.

At the closed-door session held with key officials of Trump’s administration, it was gathered that Danjuma presented damning facts on the herdsmen killings in Taraba and other northcentral states, accusing Buhari’s administration of complicity and grave human rights violations.

The meeting, which was described as a fruitful session, we gathered, afforded the delegation the opportunity to know the inner thinking of Trump’s administration on Nigerian government.

One of the sources, close to the retired general confided that some members of the coalition will have more briefings overseas with countries considered crucial to secure support against the planned defeat of Buhari in 2019.

Diaspora groups have also been mobilised to organise seminars and speaking engagements that would feature some anti-Buhari personalities.

There is also the political arm of the plot, which is targeted at mobilising mass revolt and disaffection against the President’s reelection.

Politics of ex-generals

Also coordinated directly by Obasanjo, the political strategy has taken off with the adoption of African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for the former President’s Coalition for Nigerian Movement (CNM).

ADC, which is working towards the fusion of other parties like the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Peoples Democratic Movement, as well as 23 smaller ones, has reportedly started building consensus on a northern presidential candidate to stop Buhari.

The choice of the candidate, it was learnt, has however been a thorny issue among the ex-generals with many of them failing to reach an agreement.

While Obasanjo is said to be disposed to backing Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, some of the ex-generals are rooting for Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso or former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi.

The ex-generals are reportedly working on the theory that a strong northern candidate will share votes from the region with Buhari while getting support from the northcentral, south-south and southeast. This permutation, it was learnt, is why they are considering a vice presidential candidate from the southeast or southwest.

Some of the ex-generals are said to be toying with the idea of backing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should it present an “acceptable” presidential candidate they could work with in 2019.

But it was learnt many have serious misgivings about supporting PDP because of its perception challenges, making the ADC option a more reasonable path for the ex-generals.

Our correspondent gathered last week that Buhari is however not unawares of the plot against him by some members of his former constituency.

A presidential aide, who spoke under strict conditions of anonymity, told our correspondent: “These things are there to see. We know what they are up to. It is all because their economic interests have been badly affected by this administration.

“It’s a fight-back ploy to defend their interests that negatively affect the nation. We shall be waiting for them to throw whatever they have at it.

“At the end of the day, Nigerians are no fools. They know this President has their best interests at heart. All their plotting will come to naught because they are plotting against an ex-general also.”

Kim Kardashian Klashes with Kourtney Kardashian: See the Klip!
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-01-2018, 12:09 PM - No Replies

It is about to be on, Keeping Up with the Kardashians viewers!

About two weeks ago, Kim Kardashian teased season 15 of her family's beloved series by saying it will be the most "argumentative season" in show history.

Kim added that she still isn't "backing down" from whatever fight to which she was referring above...

... but now we have a pretty firm idea who it involved.

In our first extended look at episodes to come, Kim sits in a director's chair and provides narration.

At one point, she says "my sisters are closer than ever," only for the footage to cut to her screaming: "You don't do f-cking sh-t!"

A weeping and angry Kourtney Kardashian shoots back: "You're just f-cking a bitch!"

WHOA THERE.

It's one thing for these siblings to have a disagreement. But we're dying to find out what led to such language and such vitriol, aren't you?

"Get the f-ck out of here and go!" Kim yells back at Kourtney. "Shut the f-ck up!"

These aren't two sisters who go at it very often. Interesting, right? And VERY intriguing...

Elsewhere on the upcoming season, there will be plenty of talk about babies and footage of babies, considering Kim, Kylie and Khloe now ALL have new ones.

It remains unclear, however, whether we'll be shown a lot of fallout from the Tristan Thompson cheating scandal.

There's also an exchange in the above preview that implies Caitlyn Jenner will still be a topic of conversation among the family.

"She just doesn't want to be a Kardashian anymore," Kim tells Khloe at the end of the teaser, to which Khloe replies:

"She can shove Kardashian up her f-cking vagina!"

Check out the video above and the official synopsis from E! below:

The ever-growing Kardashian family faces some of their toughest challenges yet.

This season is a baby boom as Khloé and Kylie navigate first-time motherhood and Kim welcomes her third child via a surrogate.

Meanwhile, tensions run high between the three eldest sisters as Kim and Khloé question Kourtney’s drive and priorities, causing Kourtney to contemplate her loyalty to the family.

Taking their passion for advocacy to the next level, Kourtney and Kim head to the nation’s capital to lend their voices to important causes. While Kourtney is advocating for safer personal care products, Kim makes it her mission to have President Donald Trump grant clemency for Alice Marie Johnson, a woman that was sentenced to life in prison for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.

Viewers will see, in real-time, Kim fight for Alice’s rights which eventually leads her to freedom.

Kendall continues to take the modelling world by storm, making a point to enjoy the countries she is traveling to while channelling her inner child especially while in France. Kourtney and Scott embrace their “new normal” by tackling co-parenting their kids, and Kim reacts to some of Kanye’s controversial comments as he prepares for the release of his latest album.

Meanwhile, the competition turns fierce as the entire Kardashian-Jenner-West families come together for a good cause to tape an episode of “Celebrity Family Feud,” fulfilling one of Kanye’s lifelong dreams of appearing on the show.

Even with their differences of opinion, this close-knit family knows they are better when they are all together.

2019: Tinubu, Governors May Be Seeking Amaechi's Removal As Buhari's Campaign DG

..Asiwaju tells ex-Rivers governor to resign How President upturned Imo congress

Abimbola Akosile

Quote:Less than a week after the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its national convention amid deep disaffection, a fresh crisis appears to be brewing in the party. Some governors in conjunction with a former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as some top security officers are alleged to have commenced moves against the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, principally to replace him as Director-General of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 campaign. This development is said to be connected to scheming ahead of the 2023 presidential run.

Many party members see the emerging situation as a huge challenge for the new leadership of the party under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

While the power play in the APC assumed a new dimension, details of how President Muhammadu Buhari intervened in the recent crisis that rocked the Imo State chapter of the party emerged at the weekend. There was growing discontent as members rejected the president’s seemingly coercive intervention.

THISDAY gathered from impeccable sources at the weekend that the plot to displace Amaechi as the campaign DG had been on long before the national convention but was kept under wraps till after the exercise, as some of the actors had waited to see how the convention would pan out.

One of the reasons Amaechi is being opposed, according to the sources, is that many APC leaders feel he has a presidential ambition in 2023 and that the platform could put him in a vantage position by fortifying his ambition with vital contacts and network.

Although some of the northern governors, who ordinarily are Amaechi’s friends, are believed not to be averse to his ambition, if established to be true, they are said to nurse reservations about his closeness to el-Rufai. The relationship is being interpreted to mean that the Kaduna governor might be Amaechi’s favourite candidate as running mate in the event that he chooses to run in 2023. This is alleged to be why Tinubu is moving fast to oust Amaechi as the campaign DG. The former Lagos State governor has never hidden his interest in the country’s top job. He has taken steps to rally northern governors by dangling the running mate ticket before them, without showing preference for anyone for now.

The northern governors are believed to see their chances brighter with Tinubu than Amaechi, who they feel might have settled for el-Rufai.

The move against Amaechi as the president’s campaign DG, THISDAY, gathered, is being anchored on a bourgeoning narrative that the position should be held by a serving governor. There is also a position being advanced that the campaign director-general should, apart from being a governor, be chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, which narrows the job to Zamfara State Governor, Yari Aziz.

THISDAY sources close to Tinubu said there was a short meeting between him and Amaechi at the weekend in Lagos, where Tinubu allegedly asked Amaechi to drop his position as Buhari’s campaign DG. But when the former Rivers State governor disagreed, Tinubu was said to have asked him to resign his position as minister if he must retain his appointment as Buhari’s campaign DG.

Sources said Amaechi had immediately reeled off names of political parties’ DGs, who did not resign their former positions as at the time they took the job of DG in previous elections, noting that there is nothing conflicting between the two positions, to the best of his knowledge. He was said to have also mentioned at the meeting that the talk about his presidential ambition was the imagination of certain persons in the party, because he had never shared such information with anyone.

Meanwhile, the on-going celebration in Imo State by Governor Rochas Okorocha was said to have been made possible by Buhari, who was allegedly uncomfortable with Senator Osita Izunazo and ordered the new leadership of the party to declare the Okorocha faction of the party winner of the congresses in the state.

THISDAY gathered from reliable party sources that when some top APC members noticed the president’s body language, they approached him and advised against unilaterally declaring a faction of the party winner of an inconclusive congress. Such a move, the members believed, would contradict Buhari’s professed stance against injustice.

But the president was said to have dismissed the admonitions, saying as long as it is against Izunazo, they should go ahead and declare the Okorocha faction winner.

Anyway, Drita and Farrah appeared together at the opening of an Atlantic City club on Thursday night, and afterwards, Farrah took to her Instagram to rant about the experience.
In a live video, she explained "I normally don't do joint appearances because to be honest, I am done with other quote unquote reality people."

"I feel like they're either hung up on drugs, drinking, f-cked up, unprofessional, just f-cking nasty pieces of sh-t on earth."
It's funny, because Farrah is most definitely in the category of "reality people," and there are many of her peers that would likely call her "f-cked up, unprofessional, just f-cking nasty pieces of sh-t on earth."
But that's a conversation for another day.

Without saying Drita's name, Farrah siad "You have someone show up and like talk to the owner about how you couldn't send her her freaking money at my dinner table because she didn't want to eat together, but then she can't even do the photos for the club, she can't meet anymore, she can't talk to anyone, then she just disappears!"
"Here's my vibe," she continued. "If you can't be professional to show up to work, don't cry to other people when you have no money, no work, no nothing ... because you are nothing."

"I'm sorry, if you are replaceable in the workforce, no one wants to hire you -- that's not everyone's fault, that is your fault."
She told her followers that "I had to release this, because I am done. I don't even know why they even shared my night with someone who is a has-been."
"I'm like, give me a break, it's either you're nice, you're amazing, you have a good work ethic, or stay the f-ck out of my way!"
Again, it's funny, because she's never nice or amazing, right? Is she honestly this delusional?
Well, yes.

But that's what happened when Farrah met Drita.
And when Page Six reached out to Drita for a comment on what Farrah had said, the Mob Wives star said "I'm going to slap the sh-t out of that Mr. Ed-looking f-cker."
You're already living for this feud, right?
Drita also said that she wasn't too clear on who Farrah is, and that she thinks she's "an unemployed porn star."
She "doesn't care if she's a hooker," but still, "she f-cked with the wrong person."
She repeated those comments in a video she shared on Instagram last night:
[Image: drita-davanzo-to-farrah-abraham-im-gonna...ta-you.jpg]

Drita D'Avanzo to Farrah Abraham: I'm Gonna Smack the F--K Outta You!

It seems like in the time between the interview and the Instagram video, she figured out that Farrah's famous for being on Teen Mom OG, but she still thinks that later "she became a hooker or some sh-t."
But that doesn't bother her -- she explained that what does bother her is that Farrah was nice to her face, and then later "ripped me to shreds."
"I don't know who you dealt with in the past," Drita said, "but you got the wrong motherf-cker."
"I no longer assault anybody, because the last time someone tried to test me they ended up putting me in jail. You're not worth it."
"However," she added, "I might have to make an exception."
It's at this point that you really start to appreciate how badly Farrah messed up, right?
For what it's worth though, Drita did say that "I'm not gonna closed fist punch your face in, I'm gonna open hand smack the f-ck out of you, straight up, on sight. Just so you know."
Small miracles, huh?[url=https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/gallery/drita-davanzo/]

If you've already gotten so invested in this amazing new reality star feud, don't worry -- we have one more bit of news!
Farrah saw Drita's comments about her comments, and she addressed her on Twitter directly, writing one of her most aggressive word salads yet!
"F-cking low class trash dusted up nobody show up and work you have no work ethic and act like a criminal say what you want about me so you feel better about how pathetic you are!" she tweeted.
"Use me for press haha your a loser go get a real job my lawyer will be contacting you Psycho."
Beautiful.
She also tweeted "Dinner & Atlantic City was fabulous I hope the clown fixes her drug problem & her abusive relationship."

Selena Gomez: Hollywood is Killing Me ... I Need to Escape!

Selena Gomez: Hollywood is Killing Me ... I Need to Escape!

Selena Gomez has really been through the wringer. Falling back in and out of love and facing multiple major health scares isn't easy and it will take its toll.
She's even scared some of her fans. And those are just a handful of the issues with which she's grappling on a daily basis.
Now, a report says that she knows the solution: she needs to get the hell out of Hollywood.

According to Life & StyleSelena plans her exodus from L.A. in order to live a more authentic, less stressful life.
Their insider reports: "She says she’s done with the Hollywood life and all the fakeness that surrounds it."
Hey, we get it. L.A. is full of fake lunch plans, fake body parts, and astrology.
"She’s leaving LA," the source says. "She just wants to get away from it all."

Think that it sounds like a good idea? Longtime Selena bestie Taylor Swift thinks so, too.
The insider says: "Taylor’s been raving to Selena that it was one of the best decisions she’s ever made."

"Selena’s still deciding where to move," the source explains.
In the mean time, Selena has apparently been spending time being low key in both London and Nashville.
The insider says that she's still weighing her options, "but [her native] Texas is an option."
Selena is a Texas girl and may just return.
Apparently, she has a particular fantasy for how her life mgiht go.
"She’d love to live in a huge farmhouse," the source reveals. "And build a studio so she can continue writing and working on her music."

Well, that wouldn't be for everyone -- but if that's her dream, she should probably follow her bliss.
[Image: justin-bieber-and-hailey-baldwin-gif.gif]

As we are all-too-aware, Hailey Baldwin has been enjoying Selena's slopping seconds. By which we mean that she's dating Selena's many-times ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
This source says that Selena is well-aware that her former friend and former boyfriend are once again hooking up, and she's not exactly thrilled.
"She can’t stand looking at the photos of them," the insider reports.
Plenty of people find it a little nauseating, even though Hailey is very easy to look upon -- and, despite his creepy mustache and covering his body in 100 hours worth of tattoos, so is the Biebs.

But for Selena, this isn't about looks. It's about emotions.
"She’s traumatized by it," the source claims.
That sounds a little hyperbolic, but it is easy to imagine her watching Justin seduce another ex with the same church dates and feel sickened that she fell for it herself.
Speaking of Selena's feelings, there is also the matter of designer Stefano Gabbano claiming that Selena Gomez is "ugly."

He's clearly wrong and awful for saying it. But while Selenators and everyone else with basic human decency (and eyes!) were filled with fury, Selena felt wounded.
The insider describes: "Selena was so hurt"
We totally understand that.
What a nasty fellow.

There is apparently another reason that Selena wants to leave Hollywood -- and it's for her health.
"It’s hard to steer clear of the party scene there," the insider reports. "Selena’s determined to avoid temptation. It’ll be easier if it’s not in her face."

That makes sense.
"Hollywood made her a star," the source admits. "But it’s also been hellish for her, mentally and physically."
And she can't afford to take any risks as she continues her battle with Lupus.
"Selena needs a fresh start," the insider concludes. "And that’s exactly what she’s going to get."

Morning Devotional For Sunday 1st July

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 1ST JULY.

THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).

To be born again, the first requirement is to affirm the Lordship of Jesus Christ. “Lord” means master, controller, instructor, caretaker, and leader. Jesus Christ being Lord of your life means He’s your master and controller; He guides your actions, your thinking, and everything about your life; howbeit, in love.

When He becomes Lord of one’s life, everything changes; your life is transformed completely. Those of us who’ve been in this awesome fellowship and love- relationship with Jesus can testify accordingly. He’s all love; all He ever does, and wants to do, is love you. He holds nothing, and will never hold anything against you. He loves you more than you love yourself, and He’s more passionate for your success than you could ever be.

Some people have difficulty accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives, because they don’t know Him and how much He loves them. Some Jews, for instance, find it hard to confess His lordship as it is in Scriptures, because that would mean that Jesus is “Jehovah,” “Adonai,” or “Yahweh” of the Bible.

The Jews understand that to confess Jesus Christ as Lord is to confess that He was the One that appeared to Moses in the burning bush; He was the One that fed them with manna in the wilderness, and the One that gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. That’s too much for the Jewish mind to comprehend, for it means Jesus is Himself God. But He is for sure! He said, in John 14:9, “...he that has seen me has seen the Father....”

Colossians 2:9 says in Him dwells the totality (fullness) of the Godhead bodily. He’s more than a great Teacher, Rabbi, or Prophet; He’s Lord of all (Acts 10:36). And He came to save you. If you haven’t yet made Jesus the Lord of your life, turn to the “Prayer Of Salvation” page of this devotional and pray that prayer. Mean the words with all your heart, and God will hear you, and instantly, eternal life will be imparted to your spirit. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ, the embodiment and fullest revelation of God’s love is Lord of my Life! I’m awakened to the fatherhood of God, having put on the new man, which after God, is created in righteousness and true holiness. I keep my roots deep in Him, waxing stronger in faith. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY:

Colossians 1:19 AMPCFor it has pleased [the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently.

Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 10:36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ— He is Lord of all—

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

1ST JULY.

I affirm that Jesus is the Lord of my life and I have passed from death to life. I will never be put to shame! Everything about my life is infused with divinity and speaks of God’s glory. Eternal life, love, health, peace, joy, righteousness, prosperity; are all mine! I am great, and I have a destiny of greatness in Christ. I was born into greatness and honour; therefore, I am made forever. Christ dwells in my heart by faith; I am rooted and grounded in love, and able to comprehend the boundless, immeasurable, intimately infinite, and unconditional love of God.
Thus, I am filled with all the fulness of God. Christ is my excellent wisdom. I have an excellent mind; everything I do turns out right, because I live in the will of God, guided, guarded, and propelled by wisdom. Hallelujah! I reign in life, for I’ve received an overflowing of grace and the gift of righteousness. Today and always, I relish this supernatural grace that God has lavishly bestowed upon me to excel, prosper, succeed, and make progress in every area of my life. The greater One lives in me, and He has made me bigger, greater, and superior to inflation, insecurity, sickness, disease, and the devil. I am a victor in Christ Jesus! God’s divine blessings and promotions are evident in my life. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

Ben Bruce Slams Chude Jideonwo And Tolu Ogunlesi
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2018, 10:41 PM - No Replies

Nigerian Senator, Ben Bruce in new tweets disclosed that his hearts bleeds over the way former President Goodluck Jonathan was treated, all because he is a gentleman.

Senator Ben Bruce who stated in his tweets that Goodluck Jonathan is from his constituency, called out Chude Jideonwo who alongside his partner, worked to bring in President Buhari's government. The Bayelsa born Senator also called out Tolu Ogunlesi for urging Nigerians accept President Buhari, over same sins he nailed Goodluck Jonathan for.

The tweets from Senator Ben Bruce reads;

This is a young man who regularly mocked ex President @GEJonathan, then later informed Nigerians that the Holy Spirit directed him against Jonathan. After working to promote the present administration can he tell us what he is hearing from the Spirit?

Former President @GEJonathan is my constituent. I am his Senator. I watched for years as a few people attacked him unjustly and now praise the powers that be for those very same actions. My heart bleeds when I see what they did to a good man whose only crime was being too gentle!

I urge President Buhari to reconsider his decision not to sign the African Continental Free Trade pact. The idea of a visa free Africa is great. Nigeria can’t afford to be the odd man out. We will lose out in trade and our prestige and pride of place as the Giant of Africa.

This young man once asked Nigeria to declare May 29 as a National Day of Prayer for Nigeria’s deliverance from former President @GEJonathan. Today, this very same young man is urging Nigerians to accept President Buhari

This young man once declared that Nigeria could not survive another 4 years of @GEJonathan. Today, this very same young man urges Nigerians to accept 4 more years of President Buhari. In economy, security and youth empowerment, how is PMB better than GEJ?

Some people said Nigeria doesn’t need restructuring and I laughed. How can you say a nation with one of the highest numbers of private jet owners/users and yet without its own national line, doesn’t need restructuring? Obviously those with such views live in denial!

In 2014, a young man circulated an editorial calling on then President @GEJonathan to resign because he “can’t keep Nigerians safe”. Today, that very same young man is explaining why President Buhari deserves a 2nd term despite not keeping Nigerians safe

A young man once asked former President @GEJonathan to resign “if he was tired of leading the nation”. Today that very same young man now defends President Buhari who says there is nothing he can do about the security situation in Plateau and can only pray
