Tinubu Settles For Ambode, Despite Aregbesola’s Plot - ThisDay
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 10:03 AM - No Replies

Quote:Gboyega Akinsanmi

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, has endorsed the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for second term in office, despite the alleged plot by the Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to thwart his return, THISDAY can report.

Tinubu was said to have settled for Ambode after the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, and Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, prevailed on the APC leader to support Ambode’s re-election plan.

An APC chieftain told THISDAY that Tinubu had already agreed “to Ambode’s re-election plan.”
“The APC leader will openly endorse Ambode for second term any moment from now,” he added.

Among others, the APC factional leader, Mr. Fouad Oki, had confirmed Aregbesola’s subtle plan to stop Ambode’s re-election, alleging that the Osun State governor had been meeting political groups to stop Ambode’s return.

The APC factional leader had in a chat with THISDAY confirmed that Aregbesola had been working with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Lands, Hon. Bayo Oshinowo, to scuttle Ambode’s re-election plan.

Oki also claimed that Aregbesola had also approached him to discuss the plot “to stop Ambode from seeking re-election in 2019.” But I disagreed with him. He cannot be Osun State governor and dictate what happens in Lagos,” he added.

After series of allegations by Oki and other APC chieftains, Aregbesola’s media assistant, Mr. Sola Fasure, debunked the allegation against his boss, accusing Oki of making effort “to cause crisis in Lagos APC.”

Fasure claimed that the allegation “is totally ridiculous.”

“Oki and his followers have derailed. They are only planning to cause crisis where there is no reason for crisis. As a party faithful, we will not allow them to destroy the party,” he said.

At different times recently, however, some APC chieftains have confirmed that a number of political leaders and traditional rulers had prevailed on the APC national leader not “to listen to those inciting him against Ambode.”

Specifically, according to one of the chieftains, Osinbajo, Akiolu and Gbajabiamila intervened at different times before Tinubu eventually agreed to shelve an alternative plan some of his political associates had been presenting to him.

He explained the different reasons that informed Tinubu’s decision “to finally support Ambode’s re-election plan.

“First, it is essentially because Ambode is committed to Tinubu’s political ideology. Second, it is because Ambode never fought back despite all allegations and attacks against him.”

“Rather, he allowed reasons and truth to prevail. He presented his case to Tinubu. Unlike his immediate predecessor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Ambode never allowed the plot to destroy his long time relationship with Asiwaju.”

He noted that despite all the attempts by Tinubu’s close political allies in and outside the government “to poison Asiwaju’s mind against Ambode, Tinubu eventually came to the conclusion that Ambode is 100 per cent loyal to him.”

Unlike other Tinubu’s political sons, he said: “Ambode stood resolutely by him during the turbulent early days of the Buhari administration.”

“To date, his loyalty is unwavering. Despite all attacks against him, Ambode never fought back. Rather, he displayed maturity. He kept quiet all through and continued with governance.

Ambode has a high level of loyalty to the APC and its leadership. He has been consistent. Even before he became the governor of Lagos State, Ambode has been loyal to Asiwaju.”

Another chieftain explained what Ambode went through when Tinubu’s close allies connived with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to implicate him at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He added that those allies sought Ambode’s cooperation “to indict Tinubu.

“But Ambode never yielded to their plan. And Tinubu never forgot Ambode’s sacrifice for him, even when he never nursed governorship ambition. Ambode was incarcerated at the EFCC custody for days. Yet, Ambode refused to implicate the APC leader. Apart from his performance, he has never betrayed public trust; neither has he betrayed his political leaders in the state.state

“This episode was another test for Ambode. In my opinion, Ambode has passed. Unlike Fashola, Ambode has been able to play the team man and has ridden the storm more successfully than his immediate predecessor.”

Morning Devotional For Wednesday 11th July

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 11TH JULY.

YOUR HEART AND YOUR MOUTH.

…Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23).

When you study the context of the statement made by Jesus in our opening verse, you’d notice He’s teaching the disciples about faith, not prayer. In the preceding verse 22, He had said to them, “…Have faith in God.” The original Greek connotation was: “Have the faith of God,” meaning the God-type of faith. In His ensuing explanation of how the God-type of faith operates, He highlighted two important factors: your mouth and your heart.

Notice again what He said, “Whosoever shall say…and shall not doubt in his heart…shall have whatsoever he saith.” He’s showing us an important principle of faith: your heart and your mouth must go together. Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Until and unless there’s an affirmation of that which you’ve believed in your heart, it’ll not work.

Faith believes and speaks. 2 Corinthians 4:13 says we believe, and therefore speak; we believe first in our hearts that what we desire exists, and speak accordingly. We don’t speak to believe; we speak what we believe.
When you believe that what God has said about you is the reality, you’re bold to declare it, irrespective of what the devil, circumstances and even your mind may tell you. That’s because you have the knowledge in your spirit; you’ve believed with your spirit that those things are real and already inside you! Your affirmation of those realities gives them tangibility, causing them to materialize in the physical realm.

This is why we emphasize the confession of God’s Word. To believe in your heart isn’t enough, though it’s very important; it’s your first step. Believing is receiving the Word of God with an expectation; with confidence and child-like trust. Believing is recognizing that God is who He says He is, and He can do what He says He can do, and what He says He has done, He has done. We believe with the heart and therefore speak with the mouth accordingly. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, the entrance of your Word into my heart has brought light, understanding, and power to my spirit. As I delight myself in your Word, the desires of my heart are granted unto me. I’m living the higher life in Christ, and there’re no impossibilities with me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 10:6-10 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down [from above]Smile 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Hebrews 13:5-6 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Plot To Blame Yusuf Bomoi, Dead Ex-NYSC DG For Adeosun’s Certificate Mess
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 04:20 PM - No Replies

Quote:by Malik Abdulganiy

Top officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are plotting to help Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, out of her certificate mess, TheCable understands.

Premium Times, the investigative online newspaper, had reported that Adeosun possesses a questionable NYSC exemption certificate.

Having finished her first degree at 22, she was not entitled to exemption on the ground of age except she was above 30, according to the NYSC Act.

She would also not be qualified for employment in either private or public sector having not served or been exempted.

NYSC insiders told TheCable on Tuesday that the officials are looking for a way to help her out by blaming the mess on the former director-general, Yusuf Bomoi (pictured), a retired brigadier-general who died on September 18, 2017.

Adeosun’s “exemption” certificate is dated September 9, 2009 and bears the signature of Bomoi — even though he had officially left NYSC on February 13, 2009 when he was replaced by Maharazu Tsiga, also a brigadier-general.

TheCable was informed that Bomoi would be portrayed as having granted Adeosun the exemption “in error”.

“At least Bomoi is not alive to defend himself,” one of the officials told TheCable.

The misalignment of dates, which shows the certificate being issued almost seven months after Bomoi had left his position, will be blamed on “clerical error”, according to another insider.

While this may potentially free Adeosun of the criminal charge of forgery, it still does not protect her from facing charges of dodging national service.

UNDERGROUND GAMES

On Monday, NYSC issued a vague press release, confirming that Adeosun applied for exemption but failing to disclose when she applied and if she was indeed granted.

The body promised to investigate the “purported certificate” without confirming or denying the validity of the serial number or the genuineness of the document — even though insiders say it will not take “less than 30 minutes” to check the records.

“She is definitely not entitled to an exemption,” an official of NYSC, who declined being named for fear of victimisation, said.

“If indeed she applied officially, the response would have been standard — sorry, you are not entitled to exemption.

You would have noticed that the NYSC press statement merely said she applied, which suggests that they have checked the records, and then it is silent on the other details. The officials are still working out a response. A lot is going on underground.”
Adeosun is yet to comment publicly on the mess.

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY ON EXEMPTION?

Section 2 of the NYSC Act says: “Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, with effect from 1st August, 1985, a person shall not be called upon to serve in the service corps if; at the date of his graduation or obtaining his diploma or other professional qualification –

• he is over the age of thirty

• he has served in the armed forces of the Federation or the Nigeria Police Force for a period of more than nine months

• he is member of staff of any of the following, that is
° the Nigerian Security Organisation
° the State Security Service
° the National Intelligence Agency
° the Defence Intelligence Service

• he has been conferred with any National Honour.”

Adeosun graduated from the Polytechnic of East London in 1989 at 22 and returned to Nigeria after she clocked 30.

She has worked in reputable private sector firms and also served as commissioner in Ogun state.

Young Man Loses Leg While Trying To Bribe Police Officers At A Checkpoint
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 04:09 PM - No Replies

Paul Kpema, a young Nigerian man, has narrated his sad experience after losing his leg following an accident which happened to him at a police checkpoint in Delta state.

The young man who happens to be a gospel instrumentalist, an Itsekiri by tribe, was booked to perform in a program at Otefe Oghara of Delta state before the unfortunate incident and accident befell him while trying to sort out the police officers.

Below is his story:

“We packed our musical instruments and we were heading to Otefe that day, I was to perform in a program that day, Just before the bridge connecting Mosogar to Oghara, police officers flagged down the bus we boarded, but being that the commercial driver knew one of the police men, he made a sign to him that he will see them on his return

But as he drove on, he observed that the team of police officers were chasing us with their hilux van, so the driver packed and the police officers alighted from their van and approached us. They now requested for the documents of the bus, but the driver told them it has expired, as usual you know our Nigerian Police, they requested for N10,000 before they can let us go.

The driver said he has no money on him, so they ordered myself and the conductor down and asked one of their Colleague to enter the bus and instructed the driver to reverse the bus, that they are arresting the bus, so the driver did as he was told, he drove on and crossed the bridge, then reversed as if he was coming back to Sapele and was told to park opposite where we were standing.

Seeing that there was no headway, I volunteered to offer them N3000, because I was getting late already for the program, myself and the conductor crossed the road to meet them were they parked, while I was bringing out the money from my pocket standing at the back of our own bus a car that lost control while trying to overtake a trailer in full speed came and hit my two legs, on the spot my right leg cut off from my body, before I knew it I saw myself at Delta State University Teaching Hospital Oghara (DELSUTH

What Falae, Fayose Said About PDP Alliance With R-APC, Others Against Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 11:59 AM - No Replies

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Minister of Finance, Chief Olu Falae, has commended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, R-APC and 38 other political parties.

R-APC, a faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday signed a memorandum with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other parties ahead of the general elections.

The main objective of the agreement is to defeat President Muammadu Buhari in 2019.

Falae, lamenting the “gross incompetence” of the APC-led government, advised all parties to the alliance to support not only a sole presidential candidate, but sole governorship, senatorial as well as House of Representatives’ candidates across all states of the federation.

He said, “All our votes must go to the presidential candidate and to the governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives’ candidates in every state of the federation.

“It is not sufficient to produce the President alone because if we have a President who does not have majority of seats in parliament, there will be a challenge as to what the President would be able to do.”

Likewise, the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, who spoke to the gathering through the telephone, said he was happy that the process that would send “Buhari away has commenced.”

According to him “The Federal Government was using security agencies to intimidate members of his party and supporters ahead of the Saturday governorship election in the state.”

National Grid Collapses, Generation Drops To 92MW
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 10:49 AM - Replies (1)

Quote:The nation’s electricity grid may have experienced another collapse at the weekend as the quantum of energy generated into the grid dropped to 92.30 megawatts (MW) on Sunday, the Daily Trust reports.
Records of daily operations in the power sector showed that the highest generation was 3,621MW but it sharply dropped to 92.30MW during the period as the system frequency rose to 51.18 Hertz, a level that could trigger system collapse.

Further statistics from the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing proved that beside the reported collapse at the weekend, the national grid had recorded eight system collapses in 2018 with the most recent occurring in June.

While seven were total collapse of the system, plunging the entire country into darkness in January (when five such incidences occurred), in February and in June. There was a record of partial system collapse in April.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) which manages the grid system in its response said the system collapse occurred at about 14:27hrs of July 8, 2018. “Restoration commenced immediately after the collapse and the system was fully restored by 15:13 hours the same day.”

The spokesperson of TCN, Mrs Ndidi Mbah who confirmed this to Daily Trust said the collapse was caused by tripping of Sapele-Delta and Delta-Benin transmission lines, which reduced generation into the grid by 640MW.

“The line was fully restored by 3:15 pm Sunday and normal transmission of power also restored, yesterday,” she noted.

How To Get Best Hybrid Pineapple Sucker In Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Agriculture/Food Processing
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 10:41 AM - No Replies

The pineapple is a tropical and subtropical fruit grown in many countries in Africa. It is a tradable crop and generates reasonable income. It is used as a fruit as well as for producing juice. It is also used for making jam. In addition it contains a protein digesting enzyme bromelain. Therefore it can be used as a meat tenderizer. Leaves are used for making ropes and coarse cloth. Waste products from the juice canning industry are used as animal feed. Ecological requirements Pineapple is fairly drought resistant but for high yields a well distributed annual rainfall of at least 1000mm is required. A regular supply of soil moisture is essential.

Types (Cultivars) Cultivars:

Smooth Cayenne is by far the most important pineapple cultivar throughout the tropics, the leaves are almost spineless except at the apices. Queen is still grown in some areas. This cultivar produces smaller but sweeter fruits than smooth cayenne, but the leaves are spiny and difficult to work with. The Red Spanish is a semi spineless cultivar grown mainly in West Africa and South Africa. Its fruits are intermediate between those of smooth cayenne and queen but are of better quality than those of smooth cayenne. It has some resistance to mealybug wilt disease.

Tissue culture can also be used. The propagules are extremely resistant to desiccation and root readily when planted in the nursery or in the field. By planting various types of propagules the period of harvest can be extended since offshoots (suckers) fruit in about 17 months, slips in 20 months and crowns in 22-24 months.

Planting takes place at the start of the rainy season or it can start any time in the irrigated areas. The propagule stem should be allowed to air dry for one week prior to planting so that the callus layer is formed over the damaged tissue thereby making them resistant to disease infection after planting. Scaly leaves should be removed from the lower portion of the propagule stem to expose the primodia (future roots). If this is not done, establishment will take long.

Spacing
Some farmers use double rows, others 3 rows, others more. For practicle purposes, however, pineapples are generally planted in double rows spaced at 2 ft (60cm) between the rows, 1 ft (30cm) between plants and 4 ft (120cm) between adjacent double rows. This gives an approximate plant population of 36,250 plants/ha.

The rows are marked using pegs, string and tape. Holes are dug shallowly (7-10cm deep) using a small hoe or just insert a large stick in the ground and only the pedal part is planted and firmed. The propagules are planted on a level ground and later ridged. Ridge planting helps provide a deep bed for a better root growth and also creates water between the double spaces or draining away excess water in water logged areas.

[Image: 7345851_img20180630224506375_jpeg44f9ff5...fd21bcf11c]

Fertilizers
Nitrogen is the nutrient most used by pineapples. It can be applied at the rate of 50 kg per hectare top dressed one month after planting. Additional 41-670 kg per hectare applied three to six months interval is recommended before maturity. An additional 200 kg per hectare of nitrogen can be applied to each ratoon crop. Where phosphorus is lacking, plants have narrow brittle leaves with a dark red color spreading the entire leaf. Potassium deficiency produces a poor quality fruit; few suckers and slips will be formed. The best method of application is preplant broadcast mixed with the top 15 cm of soil. Iron deficiency is identified by a general chlorosis (pale yellow or yellow-white colour) similar to that typical of nitrogen deficiency. Zinc deficiency causes a mottled yellowing of the leaves.

Weed Control
Weeds can be controlled in three ways notably by: hand, use of mulch and use of herbicides. To obtain maximum production, perennial weeds should be dug out prior to planting and all newly germinating weeds should be controlled while in seedling stage. If a crop is planted with pineapples, weeding should be done in the early stages. It is advisable that after harvesting the intercrop hand weeding should not be continued. The pineapple has a shallow root system which should not be disturbed.

The A-Z Of Snail Farming In Nigeria (what Nobody Will Tell You For Free!)
User Avatar Forum: Agriculture/Food Processing
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 10:34 AM - No Replies

Snail experts’ who tell you to construct a pen, buy snails from their own farms , feed them with paw-paw leaves or a ‘super formulated feed’ , allow each parent snail lay anywhere from 20-400 eggs 5-6 times a year, achieve 100% hatch-ability so you can have 1,000,000 baby snails (one million) snails worth N200,000,000 (one million dollars) in an 12 additional months is simply not being practical.

These conditions can only be met in a scientific laboratory with huge funds allocated. Guess what? You do not have a lab neither do you have money to waste. (because such a venture if ever done will be for scientific ends and definitely not for personal profits).

The best you can do is to maximize your profits using my simple methods of cheap and practical secrets which coupled with best practices and application of good quality control will reward you more often than not.
These are ‘little secrets’ which will give you ‘big results’.

I have compiled it in a fun way from A-Z and it will hopefully raise up more owners of profitable snaileries in Nigeria , Africa and the world at large.

[size=undefined]SO, lets read A,B, C - the snail way! [Image: grin.png][/size]

Achatina is a genus of medium-sized to very large, air-breathing, tropical land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Achatinidae. There are some 200 species of Achatinidae in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some species are kept as terrarium (just a fancy name for an aquarium without water ; LOL) animals due to their size and colourful shells.
For the purposes of snail farming however, we will concern ourselves with only the three species of that genus that is commercial , marketable and of course profitable. They are Achatina achatina Linnaeus, Achatina marginata and their younger brother – Achatina Fulica.

Breeder snails are the patriarchs and matriarchs (even though snails are hermaphrodites) of your prospective snail farm. Snails are “highly reproductive”! . these breeders are 12-24 months old snails who possesses the required qualities needed to start, sustain and “successfulize” your snail venture. Logical characteristics include shell health, age, species, source location, stress factors present in capturing and transporting as well as your own size of farm (estimated), location of farm and type of housing to implement. I always suggest sourcing mature adult snails from deep in the forests rather than farms. Farms are a good way but not really the best because the forest snails have had a natural life and are usually more hardy. Snails from farms have had too much contact from ‘snail slime’ from the snail trails of other snails in the farm and this significantly reduces their fertility and overall immunity to diseases. (Snails from farms are spoilt kids.Check out ‘Density Matters‘) .
The only place you shouldn’t buy snails though are your city markets. Live snails from such markets are usually stressed and are best for eating. Yummy!

Calcium is the single most important factor in the feeding of any snail venture. Why? Simple. Low calcium intake will slow the growth rate and cause the shells to be thinner. Calcium may be set out in a feeding dish or trough so the snails can eat it at will. Food is only one calcium source. Snails may eat paint or attack walls of buildings seeking calcium, and they also will eat dirt. I use two cheap calcium sources in all my farms. One from the green outer leaves of cabbage (you do not pay for this. It is freely available in any fruit/vegetable market in Nigeria). They will even beg you to help them carry the ‘dirty’! [Image: wink.png]

“An experiment was carried out to assess the growth performance of African Giant Land Snail Achatina achatina fed with three natural feedstuff; pawpaw fruit, pawpaw leaves and cabbage leaves. A total of 24 growing snails of approximately one year old were used for the study. These were randomly divided into six groups and then allotted into the three experimental diets, arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) order. Dry matter intakes of feed being served every other days, weight gain and size increase of snails were assessed fortnightly. The results showed that pawpaw leaf is higher in protein than cabbage leaf and pawpaw fruit.

However, cabbage leaf contains some essential mineral elements, which are useful in body building than the other two feedstuffs. It also showed that snails fed with cabbage leaves had the highest dry matter intake and weight gain of 14.2 and 18.6 g, respectively. Highest shell length and circumference increase of 0.3 and 0.6 cm were obtained in pawpaw fruit and pawpaw leaf respectively. Although there was no significance difference (p > 0.05) in the weight gain of snails fed with pawpaw fruit and cabbage leaves, cabbage leaf seems to be richer in protein and other essential mineral elements than pawpaw fruit. It was therefore concluded that cabbage leaf could serve as a good substitute for pawpaw fruit and leaves, which hitherto were known as the preferred natural feedstuff of snails.”
That was the abstract of a research paper by 4 professor level experts from the Federal college of forestry Jericho , Ibadan. I saw it since 2009 and I have applied it successfully.

The other cheap but effective calcium source is broken rock fragments of limestone. Just place them as ‘Licking stones’ in pens or the habitat where you plan to house your snails. Find them easily in stores where poultry feeds are sold or just take a hike to the hills of Okpella in Edo, Nkalagu in Ebonyi, Obajana in Kogi or mfanmosing in cross river and load sacks of it for you.
Good Calcium Supply, Bigger Healthier Snails.

Density matters! Instead of wondering what brought Physics into snail farming, proper use of space can determine if your snail venture is successful or not. Why have plenty of snails in a confined space or little snails in a wide enclosure. One issue as I mentioned in ‘Breeder Snails’ is the fact that density affects the growth and breeding capacity of snails. High density populations tend to grow slowly, develop into smaller adults, and lay fewer clutches of eggs and fewer eggs per clutch. If the snails are very densely packed, they may not breed at all. The accumulating slime suppresses reproduction. Other disadvantages of high density are the high rates of parasitism and ease of transmission of diseases.

Snails tend not to breed when packed too densely or when the slime in the pen accumulates too much. The slime apparently works like a pheromone and suppresses reproduction. On the other hand, snails in groups of about 100 seem to breed better than when only a few snails are confined together. Perhaps they have more potential mates from which to choose. Snails in a densely populated area grow more slowly even when food is abundant, and they also have a higher mortality rate. These snails then become smaller adults who lay fewer clutches of eggs, have fewer eggs per clutch, and the eggs have a lower hatch rate. Smaller adult snails sell for less. Dwarfing is quite common in snail farming and is attributable mainly to rearing conditions rather than heredity factors. Crowding snails is false economy
Think of about 20 Mature snails per square meter.( Infact, Per cube meter as they tend to climb). 40/Sq3 for medium snails and 80-100/Sq3 for baby snails. Density matters!

Escargot simply means snail meant for consumption usually in Europe and particularly in France, Spain and Portugal. For this backyard farming purposes, I will restrict it to farming, harvesting, processing and marketing of well packagaed snails. You have to get to the ‘escargot level’ if you are ready to fully exploit the goldmine that is snail farming. It is not really expensive to start. As little as having 100 mature snails laid freely by 5 breeders can start off your snail empire. Instead of selling to the market woman who would price and haggle, just harvest your snails, clean them hygienically and store raw in a freezer. Now you can have a better price from your road side ‘frozen chicken and fish store’ , a neighbour or even a hotel or fast-food chain. 100 pieces x 250-400Naira in 6-8months.Do the maths for 1000 pieces when all you need is 50 metres square (5metres by 10metres piece of land) I smell money!
I promised to bare ‘every secret’ in snail farming.

Bigger escargot operations can rake in Millions from exporting to Europe, Asia and of course U.S.A. The U.S.A is a goldmine as the government banned ‘Live’ snails from being imported. Our African brothers need snail in that country no be small since no Giant African Snail farm can exist legally.
You can even do what I call stock market trading in snails. I simply buy small to medium sized snails from the forests at a very cheap rate in the rainy season (we are in one at the moment but it will soon end so take action now and put them in my ‘snail bank’ for 6 months). With a mix of expertise not unrelated to cheap/quality feeds and complete snail care you can sell in the dry season 4-6 months later and make 4-5 times gross profits. (Take into account initial capital, feeding costs ).
Example buy 1000 snails at N50 and sell for N250 after ‘Banking’ them. More preferable is you harvest, clean and market yourself.
This stock market is surer than sure.

Feeding is the single most important factor in snail farming. Snails are easy to feed, they will feed on nearly every organic food source that is non-toxic, not hairy/waxy including leaves, fruits, vegetables, tubers and household wastes (that contain no Table Salt (NaCl).
Common food sources include fruits and veggies like banana, melon, cabbage, carrot, pawpaw, lettuce, cucumber, potato, pumpkin, plantain etc. Some people formulate special feeds for snails but you have to outweigh the cons with the pro. Why buy when you can have it all natural and next to free? Think of cheaper sources! Fruit markets, gardens and even the bush behind your house.
The type of housing and the scope of your farm will ultimately determine your source and type of feeds. In that respect, contact me. Consultancy is not expensive.

Unless your snail farm is of the very extensive type, you will have to provide your snails with some or all the food they need for good development. This will require efforts on your part in growing or collecting snail food, or cash for buying it. Therefore, you must know what snails eat and what they need. Smaller snails will prefer juicer feed sources while adult snails can eat hardier feeds and will sometimes eat soil substrate to enrich its calcium source.

Calcium as I mentioned earlier is plentiful in some sources. I used to peel off the outside leaves of the cabbage until I read that the outer leaves have as much as 80% more calcium (40mg/kg and 70mg/kg) than the inside leaves. I also wait until the last minute to cut the cabbage, as exposure to the air causes loss of vitamin C.
Not forgetting the calcium/magnesium balance needed in feeds as too much magnesium will prevent calcium absorption which creates growth problems. There are plenty secrets indeed!

This is just the start of a revolution.... join the train and know what G-Z holds..... Existing farmers are welcome to share ideas.

Soldier, Policeman, Lecturer, 97 Other Nigerian Pilgrims Abscond In Israel
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 09:50 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Tor Uja, has said 100 Christian pilgrims absconded during the 2017 pilgrimage to Israel.

Uja, who made this known while receiving security report of the 2017 pilgrimage yesterday in Abuja, said that no pilgrim absconded in Rome and Greece.

The NCPC boss said the 100 pilgrims who absconded were from five states in Nigeria, adding that a serving soldier, a police inspector and a lecturer were among the absconders.

He, however, did not disclose the states and names of the absconders, but tagged the states as “red flag.”

He said pilgrims absconded during pilgrimage as a result of their colonial mindset.

He explained that as part of the efforts of the commission to check pilgrims from absconding, the commission has decided to increase the security surveillance during pilgrimage.

Uja said Nigeria was a country of future while explaining that the coming together of Nigeria was beyond what the colonialists conceived.

He said the coming together was an act of God.

He stressed that one of the major responsibilities the federal government has for its citizens was to provide adequate security.

As a part of the commission’s strategy to check defection of pilgrims while in the Holy Land, he explained that NCPC would intensify its screening mechanism to bring defection to an end.

Uja revealed that the commission has come up with stringent measures that would discourage pilgrims from absconding.

He identified the measures to include black listing states, publishing the names of absconders and their guarantors in national newspapers, and prosecuting them eventually.

He urged Nigerians and particularly the youth to have confidence in the country.

He explained that Christian pilgrimage under his leadership is focused on three aspects which are enhancing the spiritual content of pilgrimage, using pilgrimage to showcase the great beauty and capacity that Nigeria has and using Christian pilgrimage to promote national development.

He said the forum would make Christians go on pilgrimage and come back as better persons.

“It is time to build this country and to give it foundation; it is time to give this country a character; it is time to give this country a vision and a hope.

“It is time to make Nigerians to know that our land is a land of great opportunities.
“We have more opportunities in Nigeria than in America and in Israel.

“We have better land than anywhere else, what we are going to get is a revitalisation to meet with the Lord Jesus Christ afresh and to have a revamping of our spiritual lives.

Uja commended the security committee for a job well done, adding that he would invite them to educate the commission on its observations and recommendation.

He called on the church in Nigeria to be steadfast in prayers for the nation and to provide leadership.

Earlier, Emmanuel Nega, a major general and chairman of the committee, said security is the most important aspect of the commission.

Nega said that the committee was inaugurated to ensure the security of pilgrims to the holy land.

He said the committee has documented its recommendations that would assist the commission in terms of security and to prevent pilgrims from absconding.

According to him, the committee consist of 18 members made up of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State and Service (DSS) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

NNPC Signs Agreement With Shell, Seplat, Oando, Others To Implement $3.7bn Gas
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 07-10-2018, 09:45 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Monday sealed an agreement with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, Oando Plc and other partners on the implementation of seven critical gas development projects worth $3.7 billion to bridge the gas supply shortfall in the domestic market.

This development came as crude oil prices rose Monday following increased global demand and the United States efforts to shut out Iranian output using sanctions.

The development, according to unfolding drilling data, indicated an increase in US shale.

Speaking Monday in Lagos at the ‘Framing Workshop on the Seven Critical Development Projects’, where the agreement was signed, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, identified five projects by the NNPC joint ventures and two projects by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC), a subsidiary of the corporation, as the seven projects.

According to him, some of the projects include, full utilisation of Uquo Gas Plant to deliver 200 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd), through the NPDC’s Utapate gas in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13; and the joint development of OML 24, a joint venture between the NNPC and Newcross and OML 55, a JV between the corporation and BELEMA OIL.

The other projects are the full utilisation of Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc’s Oben Gas Plant to deliver 465mmscfd of gas; and the full utilisation of Pan Ocean’s Ovade Gas Plant to deliver 130mmscfd.

“There exist another opportunity to utilise the spare capacity of 100mmsfd in Pan Ocean Ovade Gas Plant, which currently processes 30 mmscfd due to sub-surface limitation. The plan was to send NPDC Oredo gas to Ovade for processing but due to lack of alignment of schedule, NPDC has progressed significantly with the installation of two compressors to supply the gas directly into the Escravos Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS). This non-alignment of purpose can be eliminated through proper synchronisation of our developments,” Baru explained.

He noted that domestic gas demand was growing at an exponential rate that outpaces gas supply development plan.

According to him, a gap of about three billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas by 2020 has been identified by NNPC, which will be bridged at the full completion of the seven critical gas projects.

Baru said the NNPC had engaged two world-class project management consultants – DeltaAfrik/Worley Parson and Crestech/Penspen) who will work with NPDC and NNPC JV partners and other stakeholders to achieve set project deliverables.

He said the implementation of the projects was the beginning of the end to the gap in domestic gas supply of 3.5 bscfd, as these projects at full implementation would be the final solution in resolving the foreseen domestic gas supply gap.

Baru identified the timely availability of funds as one of the factors that would help in project delivery, adding that the NNPC had developed a third party financing arrangement for new investments and had also secured $3.7 billion for the under-listed projects.

Baru included Belema Oil and Pan Ocean as some of the NNPC’s partners in the projects.

He listed governance for unitised assets; timely approvals with other agencies and lease renewal as some of the other enablers that would quicken the implementation of the projects.

According to him, though lease renewal is not under NNPC purview, the corporation would do everything within its means to ensure that lease renewal requests related to these projects are supported for renewal.

As the NNPC commenced the implementation of gas projects, crude oil prices also rose Monday over increased global demand and the limited success of the US efforts to shut out Iranian output using sanctions.

Benchmark Brent was up 70 cents at $77.81 per barrel, while the US crude was unchanged at $73.80.

The US said it wanted to reduce oil exports from Iran, the world’s fifth biggest oil producer, to zero by November, in a move that will oblige other big producers such as Saudi Arabia to pump more.

But Saudi Arabia and other members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) have little spare capacity and oil demand has risen faster than supply over the last year.

At the same time, exports from several OPEC producers, including Venezuela and Libya, have been falling.

US oil output is increasing but is unlikely to be able to fill the supply gap if US sanctions are successful in blocking Iranian exports.

US energy companies last week increased the number of rigs drilling for oil by five to 863.

The US rig count, an early indicator of future output, is much higher than a year ago as companies have ramped up production in response to higher prices.

OPEC, Russia and other producers agreed in June to a modest increase in output to dampen oil prices, which recently hit three and a half year high.

A rise in supply will reverse some of the output cuts that OPEC and other major producers put in place in early 2017 to end several years of glut.

Why bill for cattle colonies ‘died’ in National Assembly, by Sen Matthew Urhoghide

The representative of Edo South Senatorial zone in the National Assembly and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Matthew Urhoghide, has offered an insight to what may have made the pending bill before the federal legislature where states are being mandated to provide land for cattle ranching died a natural death.

According to him, the piece of legislation suffered a setback from not only members of the main opposition political group, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but also from other parties and lawmakers that lobbied for its killing.

Speaking yesterday in Benin City, Urhoghide stated: “Nobody can cede any land to anybody in this country because the problem in Plateau State where over 200 people were recently killed was because the original land owners gave their property to the Fulani to settle. We are witnessing the same problem here in Edo State.

“If we make the same mistake of ceding our land for cattle grazing, we are certainly going to regret it.“But what the Federal Government has done is that they have looked for weak states and desperate governors to choose their states as pilot ones for this project. God forbid! Edo State cannot be one because we have been victims of the Fulani herdsmen.”

He added: “Those killing people, destroying farmlands and raping our women are not really herdsmen. They are people who want to take people’s land and destroy Nigeria.”The senator therefore warned that “Edo State cannot afford to have a replay of what has been happening in Plateau and other states in the country. He lamented that although the country was not at war, it has, however, lost thousands of people to the senseless killings.

We’ll resist allocation of land for ranching in Edo, PDP vows
July 10, 2018 [url=http://www.akelicious.net/search/label/NEW][/url]
The Edo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would resist any attempt to cede any parcel of land for cattle ranches in the state.State Party Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, stated this in Benin City while receiving hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) defectors from Oredo, Egor, Igueben and Orhionwmon council areas.

The PDP chair, who urged the state and federal governments to exclude Edo from the pilot scheme for cattle ranches, stated: “Edo people and the PDP will resist any attempt to cede an inch of land for the purpose of cattle ranches in the state.”

Orbih said any move to force the people to surrender their land to herdsmen for grazing would be stiffly resisted, adding that the party had been mandated by Edo people to inform President Muhammadu Buhari to delist the state from the pilot project. His words: “I don’t think it will be possible for anyone from Edo to go to any state in the north, take over their irrigated land and start rearing pigs.

“On no condition must Edo State concede land to anybody under any guise. We have been mandated by the people to inform President Buhari to delist Edo as one of the states earmarked to commence his pilot scheme for cattle ranching. He should replace Edo with his home state of Katsina.”However, the Bishop of Akure Diocese of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd. Simeon Borokinni, has urged the Federal Government to disarm the rampaging herders to contain their deadly activities.

He made the call and condemned the indiscriminate killings by the nomads nationwide during the third session of the 12th Synod at St Thomas Anglican Church, Akure with the theme, Working towards perfection.

The cleric lamented that “government appears either powerless to curb their activities or deliberately, purposely and intentionally indifferent,” recounting that government had dealt with such deadly groups in the past. He said: “Why is dealing with the herdsmen a difficult task for the government? This is a question that is making Nigerians lose confidence in the present federal administration.

“Government must disarm these murderous herdsmen. It should therefore not be allowed to degenerate any further in the interest of all.”Referring to the communiqué earlier issued by the Standing Committee which asked the president to stop the killings, Borokinni added that cattle colony was a grave injustice and corruption of the highest order.

He argued that the move treats a set of people with unwarranted special preference and makes them indigenes of all regions of the country, stating that cattle rearing is a private business whose profits are neither shared with government nor land owners. Moreover, the cleric noted that the explosive increase in population has made land inadequate for the natives, advising that ranches should be built in herdsmen’s localities for modern animal husbandry.

He stated: “Nobody’s land should be given to another person under any guise. It will be grave injustice and corruption of the highest order to spend tax payers’ money on the private business of a set of people.”The cleric, who described the problem of the Fulani herdsmen as a nationwide menace, supported the outcry, maintaining that “cattle ranching is not welcomed in Ondo State.”

                            [Image: Nigerian-Customs-Service-Logo.jpg?fit=800%2C600&ssl=1]
The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, Lagos has realized about N8.6 billion from intercepted contrabands and duty received on imported goods in the last six months.

Giving a breakdown of the earnings, Public Relations Officer, FOU, Jerry Attah said the duty paid value (DPV) of various intercepted contraband stood at N8.6 billion, while about N405.2 billion was realized from duty payments and demand notices on vehicles and general goods that tried to cut corners from seaports, airport and border stations through wrong classification, transfer of value, and shortchange in duty payment that are meant for the government coffers.

Attah said about 596 different seizures were made between January and June 2018, as a result of its strengthened its anti-smuggling operations. He stated: “107 suspects were arrested in connection with 596 different seizures comprising 34,652 foreign parboiled rice (equivalent to 58 trailers); 167 units of exotic vehicles (Toyota Prado/Lexus; bullet proof), Toyota C-HR , Toyota Camry LE, Toyota Prado(s), Toyota Hilux, Ford F150, Pajero Jeeps, Mercedes Benz ranging from 2015-2018 models respectively); 8,987 cartons frozen poultry products, 4,586 jerrycans of vegetable oil, 3,463 cartons of different pharmaceutical/medicaments, 370 parcels/98 sacks of Indian hemp weighing 1,350kg, and various general merchandise.

“Remarkable among the seizures within this period, was the interception of 460 sacks of pangolin scales weighing 12, 264 kg and 218 elephant tusks, making it the highest seizure of such endangered species in the history of Federal Operations Unit Zone A,” he stated, adding that the seized pangolin and elephant tusk are valued at N2.7 billion with two Chinese national as suspects.

Commenting on the seizures, Comptroller Mohammed Uba said: “In order to ensure full implementation of the Government policy banning the importation of rice through land borders, we re-strategized our operational modalities and beam our searchlight at the creek, water side, and at various locations in southwest zone and hence the reason for the massive rice seizure within the months under review. We will continue to make sure smugglers within our areas of jurisdiction count their losses until they repent from sabotaging our economy”

Uba reiterated that even though smuggling is a global phenomenon that cannot be eradicated entirely, all hands must be on deck so that it could be reduced to its barest minimum. He commended the officers/men who have put their lives on the line making these seizures; most especially the over 58 trailers load of rice knowing fully well it’s a big battle at the creek.

He also charged his officers/men to be professional and diligent in performing their statutory responsibilities; most especially in the area of anti-smuggling operations by making sure all revenue linkages are blocked and encouraged them to keep thwarting the antics of those dare devil smugglers who used different methods for smuggling.

Gunmen have kidnapped a Catholic Reverend Father in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Akelicious gathered that the priest, whose identity is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, was kidnapped on Saturday while he was carrying out his early morning jogging exercise routine along the Nsude-Obioma road.

The priest it was further gathered was the assistant parish priest of St. Mark Catholic Church, Nsude, in Udi Local Government Area.

According to sources, the kidnappers have demanded N100 million ransom for his release, but the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga,

has appealed to the kidnappers to release the priest unconditional, noting that the church has no such money.

The Enugu State police public relations officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the kidnap incident, saying that police were on top of the situation.

Pa Michael Obi, father of the Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, and his driver, Ishaya John, were kidnapped last week along the same road and later rescued by police operatives after some days in Egede in Udi forest along old Egede-Affa.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of the Enugu Catholic Diocese failed as the director of communication, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, could not be reached because his mobile phone was said to be unavailable.

Morning Devotional For Tuesday 10th July

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 10TH JULY.

HE DOESN’T REST UPON YOU.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Actually, it’s not scripturally correct in the New Testament to say, “May God’s Spirit rest upon you.” Someone may read our opening verse and run off with the idea that even Paul desired that the power of Christ may “rest upon him.” That wasn’t the case.

What Paul said wasn’t about the power of Christ resting upon him. The word translated “rest” is from the Greek, “episkenoo,” which is a combination of two words: “epi” meaning “a superimposition,” and “skenoo” meaning “habitation.” “Episkenoo” therefore means, “coming over something to take charge of it from within.” Paul was in other words describing his experience of being continuously filled with the Spirit.

Another use of the term “rest upon” is seen in 1 Peter 4:14, where the Bible says, “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you….” Here, the word, “anapauo” is used, which refers to being refreshed or given rest, but not as in sleep. If you study the context, you’ll observe that it says, if you’re persecuted because of Jesus, happy are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God will give you rest; He refreshes you and strengthens you. The Greek word doesn’t say rest upon you; it can’t even be translated that way.

The essence of the detailed foregoing explanations is that in the New Testament, there’s no suggestion of the Holy Ghost coming to rest upon us. The emphasis throughout the Scriptures is for us to be full of the Spirit because He lives in us. This was the standard in the early Church, and it’s still our standard today.

The Bible says, “…and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost...” (Acts 6:5). In Acts 4:31 NIV, it says, “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken, and THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT....” This is the will of God for us today in the Church: being continually filled with the Spirit.

CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you; for your Spirit, in all of His glory and awesomeness, has come to take up His abode in the quarters of my heart in His totality. I’m a God-carrying vessel, a conveyor of eternal verities. By virtue of being a carrier of God, I can do all things, and effect positive changes in my world. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

John 14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Colossians 2:9-10 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Lasisi Oluboyo: Khadijat My Daughter Was Killed & Buried By Boyfriend For Ritual
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 09:30 PM - Replies (5)

Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, the ex-ondo deputy governor and the father of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko final year student, Khadijah, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend for ritual purpose.

The deceased was murdered under mysterious circumstances by her Abuja-based boyfriend, Adeyemi Alao, in Oke-Aro area of Akure metropolis.

Oluboyo, who confirmed to journalists that her daughter was killed for ritual purpose on Monday, disclosed that the family discovered she was missing on Monday, July 2, 2018.

“Somebody called us that she was missing. We started looking for her. We got in touch with her friends in the school. The closest friend told us that they finished lecture on Thursday. They took the same motorcycle to their houses.

“On Friday, they had no lecture, when the friend got to the lecture room on Monday and did not see her, she started calling her numbers.”

The father, who is the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, revealed he sent “the money for her feeding on Friday, the usual thing is that when she got bank alert, she would call me back to thank me.

“But this day, I did not get a response from her. I told her mother and she started calling her. The phones were switched off. On Monday, we started calling her number and it did not get through. Later the phone rang, they picked it and we were hearing an underground sound.

“The phone switched off again. Later we got a text that the mouthpiece of the phone is not good and that she would call when she changed the sim card to another phone. With that, we thought that everything was settled. We were waiting anxiously for the call.”

He noted that Khadijah’s friend even contacted the family that she too had been calling her number to no avail, adding that “the same person sent a message to that her friend that she was on her way coming.”

Establishing the relationship between late Khadijat and Alao, the father said, “It was then I got to know that she came to Akure to meet that boy. From what the father told us, there is no doubt that they were once boy and girlfriend.

“They met each other at College of Education, Ondo. When we started looking for the girl, the father called me, he said he is the father of Adeyemi, he said my daughter came to their house on Thursday and left on Friday morning.

“He said she used to come in the past but stopped suddenly, that she was the type he wants his son to marry. I said we were not talking of marriage and that we were looking for her. The man called and started praying. When we called, the boy said she came on Thursday and left on Friday.”

While exposing the ruse kidnap scenario to cover up for her six days disappearance, the ex-Deputy Governor recounted that “my daughter had four numbers. She had two handsets, one with two sims, one with one sim.

“The old number she was using was kept in her bag. What happened was that when we tracked the first number, it went off immediately after Roadblock at Owo. The second number went off after Oba-Akoko.

“That gave us the impression that she was travelling and that she was going back to school. We got it on good authority that she came to Akure. That gave us belief that she was going back.

“When they sent a message that we should wait for negotiation team, we discovered it was one of the numbers in her bag that they used to send the message to us. It was a perfect arrangement to buy time.”

Revealing how the mysterious disappearance which led to the death of her daughter was unravelled, he narrated that “when we tried our best, we organized prayers. When we finished with the prayers, he got the hint and said he cannot continue.

“He rushed out and confessed to his immediate sister. He said this is what I did; I cannot cope, go and help me carry sack. The sister rushed to the father and narrated the story.”

Contrary to widespread speculations that Alao just dumped the decomposing body of the victim under his bed, Oluboyo affirmed that “the boy dug a grave in his room, buried her and put his foam on the grave and was sleeping on the grave. She was not found under the bed, the boy has no bed.

“The boy killed her for ritual purposes. It is not that the girl was not well-fed. The lady did not go there on her own volition. To me, I don’t want anything. God’s judgment is more than all the human’s verdict. The danger is that if you allow him to go scot-free, he would do it again.”

ABEOKUTA-There was a wild jubilations by thousands of members and supporters of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as former President Olusegun Obasanjo briskly stormed the political rally by a governorship aspirant of PDP in the state, Oladipupo Adebutu.

Obasanjo who dressed in white kaftan caused a stir and spark off excitements when he dashed into the rally and waved to the party members and leaders.

The former President who was handed over the microphone mounted the podium and he wished the party and Oladipupo Adebutu success in his aspiration.

The former President who quitted partisan politics in the build – up to the 2015 general elections, spoke during the brief moment at the rally that took place at an expanse ground within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

In his remarks , Obaaanjo who spoke very briefly in Yoruba said ” whether it is a play or a real game , they will know . I saw you here and I came to play with you “,Obasanjo said.

Earlier, the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State and its governorahip aspirant in the state , Oladipupo Adebutu have paid a visit to the Palace of Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, to seek the monarch’s support and blessing ahead of 2019 election.

Adebutu who is a member of the House of Representatives representing Remo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, was accompanied on the visit by some PDP chieftains in the state, had earlier donated electricity transformers to four communities in the state capital.

Speaking during the visit, the lawmaker said he was at the palace to formally inform Alake of his governorship aspiration come 2019.

Adebutu said he decided to join the gubernatorial race in order to enhance good governance and ensure delivery of goodies of democracy to the grassroots in the state.

He said unless good governance is provided by the leadership at all levels, people in exalted positions and wealth will also be affected by consequences of bad governance.

“The high and mighty fences or trenches could hardly secure but would just entrap one in an environment of poor governance.

“I was offered royal blessings by the Alake in 2015 while i was contesting for a seat in the House of Reps, i want to asure the Alake that i will ensure “good governance, because it would bring genuine growth and development to the people and curbs corruption.

“With proper orientation, fear of God and compassion for others, a leader would able to shun corruption. And if one has the compassion for others at heart, it would be difficult for one to appropriate collective wealth for personal benefits”, he added.

Responding, Oba Gbadebo commended the lawmaker for his intervention in the provision of electricity transformers to several communities in Abeokuta.

Alake who prayed for the lawmaker for a successful aspiration, expressed confidence in Adebutu’s conduct and capacity to deliver good governance if he is elected as governor of the state comes 2009.

The story has generated outrage from Nigerians who called for an official investigation and asked the minister to resign from her post or be fired by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Details published by this newspaper on Monday show that the certificate is among the set of documents submitted by the minister for her appointment and screening in 2015.

Speaking for the first time since the news broke, NYSC’s Director of Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, said the service is working towards responding to PREMIUM TIMES’s request for verification of Mrs Adeosun’s certificate.

This newspaper first wrote to the NYSC on April 16, 2018 requesting for the verification. After weeks of silence and promises, the paper’s editors decided to re-channel the request into a Freedom of Information request.

This followed disappointment suffered by journalists working on the story when the formal letter that was to be issued on June 1 by the corps was suddenly withheld.

Our reporter who was at the NYSC headquarters on Thursday, May 31, was told to come back the next day to pick up the organisation’s response to our letter, following scrutiny that afternoon that confirmed that “Folakemi Adeosun” was not in the register.

However, on arriving on Friday, June 1 to pick the response, a new decision was announced: the NYSC officials said the verification has been channelled to the organisation’s ICT unit to check its “electronic database.”

PREMIUM TIMES had made a payment of N2,000 through federal government’s Remita platform. The Remita receipt was later swapped with an official receipt of the NYSC at the organisation’s Account Department. The receipt is numbered 711133.

Frustrated by the sudden back-tracking, on June 8, this newspaper delivered a Freedom of Information request to the NYSC headquarters which is yet to be responded to.

The FoI Act mandates agencies to respond to requests within one week or write to seek for extension if unable to comply with the stipulated time.

But speaking to a PREMIUM TIMES reporter on Monday, Mrs Adeyemi attributed the delay to the need by the organisation to “get a little more time to get the records straight.”

Below is the text of the director’s interview with our reporter.

PREMIUM TIMES: What is the NYSC’s response to our request for verification of the certificate being paraded by the finance minister, Kemi Adeosun?

MRS ADEYEMI: You have sent in a request wanting to know, subjecting that certificate to verification. I agree with you, the request has been received at the NYSC headquarters, and you would want the NYSC to verify that certificate which you said was submitted by the honourable minister.

The NYSC as a public institution and organisation where some information is domiciled for public interest will definitely not hoard any information.

But whatever we are releasing from this organisation, from our tables, must definitely be subjected to every test so that when we say this is verified or not verified we stand by our words.

Your request has been received and is being worked upon and the moment the verification process is concluded you will be given the right response. At no point in time will the NYSC, being a public institution, not respond to public enquiry.

Any enquiry will be responded to and, definitely, everything that would come from our organisation would have been subjected to every test of integrity and having passed the test of integrity, which we uphold very dearly, the response will be given.

You may just need to give a little more time so that the verification process goes through every stage and at the end of the day when anything is being said on the verification we can stand by it. We can say we have done every test of integrity.

PREMIUM TIMES: Why is it taking this long?

MRS ADEYEMI: There are occasions when you need to…we are talking about records of the past. There are occasions where some information you may have to search very well and through different places; particularly too, the organisation moved sometimes from Area 3 (in Abuja) to the present headquarters. So there are various times when (for) some information, you need a little extra time to get your record straight. But we don’t want ever to give out information when every test has not been carried out. Just give us a little more time and we will get back to you.

Three Northern APC Governors To Defect To PDP (Names)
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 07:57 PM - No Replies

Quote:Three northern governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are on their way to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) any moment from now, TheCable understands.

As many as 30 senators and 70 members of the house of representatives are expected to follow suit before the national assembly goes on recess in the next two weeks.

The potential defectors are members of the “reformed” faction of APC that recently emerged.

Most of them were in the PDP before defecting to APC under the aegis of “new PDP” in 2013.

Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) are in the “first batch” of big guns expected to defect, an insider has told TheCable.

“The plan also is that some APC governors will not defect but will remain behind to inflict maximum damage on the party from within,” a southern governor informed TheCable on Monday.

Tambuwal is rumoured to harbour a presidential ambition while Ahmed, who is coming to the end of his second term in Kwara, is expected to run for the senate.

“Ortom, on his own part, has been guaranteed safe return to the PDP by Senator David Mark. He is considered the best bet in the circumstance as the incumbent governor, and he can leave the party to George Akume,” another inside, who attended some of the strategy sessions, told TheCable.

Senate President Bukola Saraki is also expected to return to the PDP and is reported to be nursing a presidential ambition — bolstered by the recent supreme court judgment which freed him of criminal charges over allegations of false asset declaration.

Following the series of crisis that hit the ruling party at the state congresses in June, some of the APC governors and lawmakers who lost out have been guaranteed automatic tickets by the PDP to entice them to the party.

APC currently controls 24 states while PDP has 11 and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) one.

If the three governors defect as planned, PDP will increase to 14 while APC will reduce to 21.

Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 07:56 PM - No Replies

ABUJA–A constitutional lawyer, Mr. Francis Obalim, has approached the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, asking it to sack the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, from office for not possessing a valid discharge certificate issued by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

The plaintiff, in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/712/2018, applied for an order quashing and setting aside Mrs. Adeosun’s appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari, same being an act done in circumvention of a condition precedent and in contravention of mandatory Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the NYSC Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

He maintained that Adeosun who was cited as the 1st defendant in the matter, was not qualified to be employed by the Federal Government of Nigeria either as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or in any other capacity whatsoever, without first presenting a valid discharge certificate issued by the NYSC.

The plaintiff, through his counsel, Mr. Johnmary Jideobi, sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining FG from further according a Ministerial status to the 1st defendant, until she presents a valid certificate of discharge regularly issued by the NYSC.

He wants the court to compel the 1st defendant to refund forthwith to FG, through the Treasury Single Account domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria, all the salaries, emoluments, allowances and such other benefits she has enjoyed since her resumption as a Minister in 2015.

Other defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Clerk of the Senate.

Specifically, the plaintiff prayed the court to determine, “Whether upon an intimate reading and complete understanding Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the 1st Defendant is qualified to be employed by the Federal Government of Nigeria either as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or in any other capacity whatsoever without first presenting a valid discharge certificate issued by the National Youth Service Corp?

As well as, “Whether the appointment of the 1st Defendant by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria [as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria] and the subsequent confirmation of same by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are not a nullity and therefore liable to be quashed and set aside being acts done in circumvention of a condition precedent and in violation of Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended?

Upon determination of the questions, he sought for, “A declaration of this Honourable Court upon an intimate reading and complete understanding of Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the 1st Defendant is NOT qualified to be employed by the Federal Government of Nigeria either as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or in any other capacity whatsoever without first presenting a valid discharge certificate issued by the National Youth Service Corp.

“A declaration of this Honourable Court that the appointment of the 1st Defendant by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria [as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria] and the subsequent confirmation of same by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are a nullity and therefore liable to be quashed and set aside being acts done in circumvention of a condition precedent and in contravention of mandatory Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended?

“An order of this Honourable Court quashing and setting aside the appointment of the 1st Defendant as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the same being an act done in circumvention of a condition precedent and in contravention of mandatory Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended

“An order of this Honourable Court quashing and setting aside the confirmation of the 1st Defendant as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria carried out by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the same being an act done in circumvention of a condition precedent and in contravention of mandatory Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

“An order of perpetual injunction of this Honourable Court restraining the Federal Government of Nigeria from further considering, nominating, appointing, screening and or confirming the 1st Defendant as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or any other government position howsoever named or described until she presents a valid certificate of discharge regularly issued by the National Youth Service Corp in view of Sections 12, 13 and 14 of the National Youth Service Corp Act which is an integral part of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended”.

Likewise, “An order of this Honourable Court compelling the 1st Defendant to refund FORTHWITH to the Federal Government of Nigeria [through the Treasury Single Account domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria] all the salaries, emoluments, allowances and such other benefits she has enjoyed since her resumption as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015 up to the point of the filing of the instant suit”.

Meantime, no date has been fixed for hearing of the suit.

The fire was still burning when the people of God remembered the sabbath day by coming together in unity to serve the Lord (Sunday service 1/7/2018) as if everything is ok.

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Mr Somchai said he had the plane delivered by lorry before it was lifted by a crane and lowered onto concrete blocks to prevent it from sinking into the wet ground.
He said: 'I bought the plane at an auction. The engine and all the computer parts were taken out already.
'I would like to make a small attraction here, with a motor-cross track and a football pitch, so people can look inside the plane and watch the sports from inside, too.'
Mr Somchai allowed visitors to photograph the plane from a distance but has prevented anybody from climbing inside.

Fayose Under Fire For Saying He Won’t Receive PMB Today

Quote:Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has come under severe attacks over his statement last Thursday that he won’t receive President Muhammadu Buhari, when he visits Ekiti State for the grand finale rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, today .

Many analysts in the state, who pleaded anonymity told LEADERSHIP that it was the height of political rascality for the Ekiti State governor to contemplate not receiving the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when he visits the state tomorrow.

Fayose had said at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rally last Thursday, “I got a letter on Wednesday that that I should come and welcome the President, but I said I am not receiving the President because he has not done anything for Ekiti.”

Reacting to Fayose’s diatribe, a legal luminary, Barr Richard Akinnola ll, said, “Fayose is wrong, very wrong, to say that he won’t receive President Buhari when the President visits Ekiti State tomorrow to campaign for Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

“Protocol demands that you welcome the President, irrespective of your misgivings against the President, or whether you belong in the same party with him or not.
“The PDP hierarchy should call him to order. This is not a private matter. Otherwise, he should as well reject the state’s monthly federal allocation because it’s coming from Abuja.”

Theophilus Ozoigbo Arrested For 3-Day Sex With Sierra Leonean Girl Without Pay

Quote:Barely 3 months after being arrested and arraigned for allegedly defrauding the management of Morehouse Hotel Company Ltd of the sum of N300,000 and issuing dud cheque, a man has been arrested again for sleeping with a girl and staying in another hotel without paying.

41-year old Theophilus Ozoigbo, who claims to be the son of a retired Commissioner of Police, was last night arrested at Three Arms Hotel, Osborne Phase 2, Ikoyi, while trying to escape without paying the hotel and a Sierra Leoneean girl, Taraj, who he slept with for 3 days.

According to reports Theophilus’ accumulated bill was N250k for the three days he had sex with her. He was accused of sending fake credit alerts to Taraj and the hotel management. He was, however, nabbed by the security guard, after jumping out of the two storey hotel and later taken to the Ikoyi police station.

Back in March, the accused, was arrested by the Police at the same Ikoyi Division, following a complaint by the management of Morehouse Hotel and arraigned on a two-count charge of felony to wit, lodging in a hotel for three days valued at N300,000 and issuing FCMB dud cheque.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open court and Magistrate, F.F George, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

It was gathered that he has been doing this since 2004, but keeps getting freed on bail and keeps going to various hotels to scam the management and unsuspecting ladies.

Kemi Adeosun Fake NYSC Exemption Certificate And Other Credentials (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 04:44 PM - No Replies

Quote:As the world awaits the explanation of Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, over a PREMIUM TIMES exclusive reportthat she skipped Nigeria’s one-year mandatory national youth service scheme and then forged an exemption certificate, this newspaper has decided to release her entire credentials to the public.

We are releasing the documents exactly as she submitted them to President Muhammadu Buhari (before her nomination), the State Security Service (for credential and security scrutiny) and the Senate (for her confirmation hearing).

The documents include copies of her curriculum vitae, her high school GCE results, her university degree and post graduate diploma, her purported NYSC exemption certificate, Income Tax Clearance Certificate for Tax Year 2015 and certificates of membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Of the documents, the only one that has become controversial so far is the NYSC exemption ‘certificate’, which was purportedly issued on September 7, 2009.

This newspaper was able to determine that, based on its enabling law, the NYSC does not issue exemption certificate to anyone who, like the minister, graduates before turning 30. Born on March 9, 1967, Mrs Adeosun graduated July 11, 1989 at 22.

Mrs Adeosun’s ‘certificate’ is dated September 9, 2009, and was purportedly signed by Yusuf Bomoi, a former director-general of the corps.

Officials said Mr. Bomoi stepped down from the NYSC in January 2009, and could not have signed any certificate for the corps eight months after. The retired brigadier general passed on in September 2017.

We investigated Mrs Adeosun’s so-called NYSC certificate for months, determining eventually that it is fake.

“This one is an Oluwole certificate,” a top official of the corps said after we showed him a copy of the document. “We did not issue it and we could not have issued it.” Oluwole is a location in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos, where fraudsters possess an amazing dexterity in the art of forging all kinds of documents.

Several current and former officials of the scheme told this paper that the NYSC would never issue an exemption certificate to anyone who graduated before age 30 and did not fall into the categories of persons exempted by the corps’ enabling Act.

By that law, there are four categories of Nigerians eligible for exemption certificates. The first are those who graduated after turning 30. The second are holders of national honours. The third are persons who served in the armed forces or the police for up to nine months. The last category are staff of intelligence agencies, or the armed forces.

Therefore, having graduated at 22, and with no record of national honours or service in the intelligence or armed forces, Mrs Adeosun is not qualified for exemption, officials said.

Yet, the so-called exemption certificate she holds gave age as the reason for her exemption.

“This is not the size of our exemption certificate,” another top official of the corps remarked when shown a copy of the minister’s ‘certificate’. “The calligraphy is also different”.

On another day, another staff questioned the genuineness of the ‘certificate’ based on the font of the serial number.

“Look at this, look at this other one, the numbering is different,” the staff said while comparing Mrs Adeosun’s certificate with a genuine one on file.

Mrs Adeosun’s name also failed to pop up during multiple checks of the exemption certificates registers kept by the corps, officials said.

One official, who perused the register recently, noted that the sequence of serial numbers for certificates issued in 2009 did not correspond to that in Mrs Adeosun’s purported certificate.

Mrs Adeosun, the NYSC and the presidency are yet to speak on the scandal which is currently the most talked about topic in Nigeria.

Northwest APC Lawmakers Endorse Buhari, Northern Youths Kick

Quote:Godwin Isenyo , Kaduna

The leadership of the Arewa Youth Forum on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any endorsement for the 2019 presidency .

Reacting to a purported endorsement by some serving All Progressives Congress ’ s lawmakers from the Northwest in Kaduna , the AYF ’ s National President , Alhaji Gambo Gujungu , said Buhari was not fit to return as president in 2019 .

The AYF argued that with the killing spree all over the country, especially in the North, Buhari should serve his mandatory four years term and quit the stage for another Northerner .

Gujungu noted that one sour point about President Buhari ’ s 2019 ambition was his claim that the killings across the country were being carried out by “desperate politicians ” , yet he had not arrested even a single suspect .

The AYF president , therefore , said Nigerians should blame the president for the attacks on innocent citizens.

The AYF boss who spoke to our correspondent on phone on Monday , said the President’ s claim that the killings under whatever guise was caused by desperate politicians , “shows that the president knows them(killers ). ”

He said :” Nigerians should hold the President Buhari responsible for the killings because he made it clear in one of his speeches that it was desperate politicians ’ that are responsible for the herdsmen killings .

“ Being the Commander - in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the bulks stops on his table . It is important , therefore , for him to fish out the desperate politicians as a matter of urgency .

“ Therefore, to allow the president to come in 2019 will spell doom , not only for the North but the entire country.

“This is not 2015 when we said North versus the South . This is not APC or PDP affairs .

“ We have enough Presidential aspirants in the North that are capable and not Buhari again .

“ Buhari should just honourably leave the stage in 2019 so that the North can regain its lost glory . ”

'I Feed My 2 Wives, 7 Children With Fraud Money – Fake Police Officer Confesses

Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 04:24 PM - No Replies

The Police in Sokoto has arrested a self-confessed fraudster, Mahmuda Hamza, who has been extorting money from people with a police identity card.

Parading the suspect with some area boys at the police headquarters in the state on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, maintained that the Commissioner of Police in the state has declared war against area boys and other miscreants.

The PPRO also advised parents to talk to their wards to be law-abiding “as it is not going to be business as usual for criminals in the state.”

Hamza, in an interview with our correspondent, explained that he took the identity card from a deceased policeman and attached his passport photograph to it.

“I am a fraudster and I know I have committed an offence but I am pleading, I will not go into crime again if I am pardoned. I am not an armed robber, but a fraudster. I have two wives and seven children and I feed them all from the money I make through this fraud,” he explained.

The police also paraded one Usman Danmaliki, who hired dismissed police officers to extort money from villagers.

Danmaliki was rearrested in a court premises after appearing before a magistrate for a similar offence.

One of his victims, Aliyu Usman Rikina, had accused Danmaliki of harassment and extortion.

“He was using some dismissed police officers to intimidate and extort money and other valuables from our people in Dange Shuni village,” Rikina alleged.

How Ministers, Bureaucrats, Lawmakers Hijack Federal Jobs
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 03:00 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Nuruddeen M. Abdallah

Ordinary Nigerians are finding it difficult to get jobs into federal agencies because top bureaucrats, public officials and lawmakers are hijacking the opportunities, Daily Trust reports.

Vacancies in federal ministries, departments and agencies, which are seldom publicly advertised, end up being filled up by candidates handpicked by ministers, senior civil servants, traditional and religious leaders, and National Assembly members, according to Daily Trust investigations covering more than one year.

In the last three years, very few federal agencies advertised job opportunities, while others filled them up secretly in the name of “replacement.”

Secret recruitments continue despite pronouncements by various agencies such as the National Assembly and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate them.

Daily Trust reports that the Federal Character Commission (FCC), an executive body established to ensure fairness and equity in the distribution of public posts and socio-economic infrastructures among the various federating units of Nigeria, has been accused of being complicit.

An insider told Daily Trust that officials of the character commission “allow heads of the agencies to secretly recruit once job slots are allocated to them. Through this, they claim the federal character is achieved since the FCC members are from the six geopolitical zones.”

Some of the federal agencies at the forefront of this illegal hiring include Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).

Insiders told Daily Trust that the job racketeering is being done by the agencies in conjunction with National Assembly members.

“The National Assembly members are given huge slots. The officials in the Presidency are also given. Officials of the supervising ministries such as the minister, permanent secretary, some directors are all given slots,” the source said.

The source said sometimes when an agency was planning to recruit 200 people, it would end up hiring 1000 or even more because the lawmakers must be given their slots.

FCC officials told this reporter that the agencies shy away from advertising vacancies to avoid stampede.

183 agencies in illegal hiring

A report by the Federal Ministry of Finance revealed that 183 out of 185 federal agencies had recruited 13,780 staff in two years.

Out of this number, 6,917 were recruited without any formal approval; 2,314 were employed by seven universities with governing council approval; while 4,549 had correctly obtained approval from the Office of the Head of Service and FCC.
The ministry’s review revealed that out of the 185 agencies, only the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army sought approval for their recruitment.

Jobs for the influential

The most recent case of hijacking opportunities meant for Nigerians is that of a scholarship to study an undergraduate degree course in railway engineering in China extended by a Chinese firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd (CCECC).

When young Nigerians converged at the CCECC office in Abuja for the interview, only applicants whose names appeared on a “special list” provided by 10 serving ministers, a northern governor and a presidency official were allowed for the interview.

In March 2016, Daily Trust reported how the CBN recruited 909 staff in two years without advertising the vacancies.

Investigations showed that some of the basic requirements for employment were not followed in the recruitment. For instance, the various positions to be filled by candidates were not advertised, and the figures also suggested that the exercise was lopsided in favour of certain sections of the country contrary to the provisions of the federal character.

Details of the recruitment carried out between June 2014 and February 2015 showed that out of the 909 staff engaged, 213 of them are from the South-South region, CBN governor’s geopolitical zone.

The recruitment list contained names of sons and daughters as well as family members of senior Presidency officials, ministers, key ruling party chieftains, lawmakers, among others. The FCC said it would investigate the scandal, but has yet to do so.

The apex bank conducted its secret recruitment even though in September 2015, it issued a statement signed by the former director, Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Mu’azu denying any general recruitment in the bank.
Mu’azu said CBN would not embark on general recruitment exercise without due process.

“Whenever the Bank is ready to do this it will be duly publicized through its website, and other media platforms available to it, without a fee,” the statement added.

But Daily Trust learnt that the last time the bank publicly recruited workers was in 2013 after it announced and advertised the exercise. An inside source said the bank recruited almost every month, since June 2014.

Security agencies are not exempted from this scandal. In May 2017, Senate committee chairman on federal character and inter-governmental affairs, Tijjani Kaura, said an investigation is ongoing into the alleged lopsided recruitment into Department of State Services (DSS).

A report alleged that out the 479 cadets commissioned on March 5 by DSS, a large number of them were from the north, with Katsina State where the DSS chief hails from having 51 slots, more than the entire slots of the southeast. But the presidency defended the recruitment saying the matter was taken in isolation of the context it was done.

“It is important to emphasise that it is in the interest of peace, stability and the general well-being of the nation that all component units are fairly represented in organisations such as this. Where this comes short, efforts must be made to correct such lopsidedness as the DSS did between 2014 and 2016,” the presidency said in a statement.

The FIRS, during the first quarter of 2016, recruited five directors secretly along with over 200 other staff. The recruitment exercise was not advertised to enable other eligible Nigerians to apply.

The National Population Commission (NPC), for instance, was granted a waiver to replace 86 exited staff but ended of hiring 184, according to Daily Trust investigation in September 2016.

The hiring was later suspended because it was done secretly in violation of the requirements of federal chance.

An inside source, however, said the disagreement on sharing formula of the jobs slots was responsible for its suspension.

The political heads of the commission disagreed over the number of slots issued to each commissioner and that may have led to the suspension of the exercise, the source said.

Daily Trust reported how the Minister of Communication Adebayo Shittu revoked the recruitment of 245 graduates as senior staff of the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) hired in 2015.

One of the successful applicants told Daily Trust that the minister “rejected the list because his state was not properly represented on the list of successful applicants. He has brought additional names that he wants to be added to the list. That is the cause of the delay in posting the applicants.”

Why we grant waivers - FCC

The character commission does not grant waivers to organisations to circumvent its circular on a procedure for recruitment which stipulates that organisations who intend to employ must advertise in two national dailies, its spokesperson, Idriss Abdullahi, said.

He said an exception was when the number to recruit is minimal such as one to 20 new recruits, the commission grants waivers to MDAs to cut cost and save time.

“Where a waiver is granted it may be because of the number and in very rare situations the need to fill the vacancies to meet up with an urgent policy demand,” he said.

He said the FCC is mindful of the stampede that happened at the immigration recruitment some years ago and would not want an agency receiving thousands of applications just for a few job openings.

Ordinary Nigerians protest

The secret recruitment is not restricted to “lucrative agencies” as even not-so lucrative jobs are still hijacked by influential Nigerians. During the last recruitment of policemen nationwide, 67 persons on the police candidates list from Katsina State were replaced with some names provided by some “highly placed individuals”.

Daily Trust learnt that about 238 persons were shortlisted for medicals in Kano and upon return 67 names were allegedly removed and replaced with others who didn’t attend the medical screening.

An applicant, Aisha Muhammad, narrated her experience with the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) 2016/2017 recruitment.

The applicant who holds a master’s degree in agric economics said after her application, she wrote an aptitude test in Abuja, first level interview in Lagos, and second level interview in Abuja.

“The irony is some applicants got their appointment letters after the second level interview. Meanwhile the bulk of us never got a response,” she said.

She said after about a year, she received a call from someone saying she was offered a one-year contract job by an outsourced company engaged by NIRSAL. “It was terrible. It was clear that you have to know someone to get hired,” she lamented.

Another applicant, Nana Yunusa, an accountant that applied for NIRSAL job, said “This really demoralized me. This is a job I had applied for over 10 months; which I had undergone series of scrutiny from the employment firm (Nextzone) and the agency itself (NIRSAL) through tests and interviews for a position that was specifically stated- supervisor, but here I was being offered a contract engagement through an outsourcing consultancy firm for a position way below what I am qualified for. Considering the terms of engagement, I declined the offer.

“I am talking to you as a complaint because I feel I have been conned into being offered a job I didn’t apply for when others with strong connections were able to get in. If they hadn’t contacted me at all, I would have had the peace of mind, owing probably to my inability to meet up to standards, but not to be insulted with a term of engagement that I didn’t apply for,” she said.

For Abba Muhammad, a graduate of engineering with a second class upper division, he applied as a graduate assistant in a federal university in one of the northwestern states.

“I passed all the processes: aptitude test, interviews. But it was evident that I couldn’t be hired despite my performance because I don’t know anybody influential,” he said.

He said he experienced the same thing when he applied to another university and polytechnic. “It was clear that it is not about merit because I passed all the processes to reach the top. But couldn’t secure the job because I don’t know a lawmaker or any first-class traditional ruler to speak for me,” he said.

Muhammad, who is now a master’s student, said he has left everything to God, while he’s pursuing his second degree in engineering.

That he came only to appeal for us to accept his apology to hold the wedding, that it will be an insult to him if the wedding did not hold, that he had informed their churches all over Nigeria that his Son Is getting marriage, that He had shared the wedding card Since ending of May 2018.

I asked him a question "Is this not the first time am seeing you? How can an elder like you do such evil, by printing a wedding card without knowing your inlaws? how can you fix dates for wedding and traditional marriage only you and your churches without seeing the parents of the Child.

He replied "that is the Order of their church, that the Family of the Girl will not know until the wedding date" Tufiaa!!!! this is a taboo and I have never seen such in Isiokpo Land since My Birth. and can never accept a taboo.

'we Were Forced To Join Robbery Gang' - Teenagers Allege
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 02:44 PM - No Replies

Two teenagers identified as Isaac Obong and Daniel James who were part of the robbery gang that robbed a petrol station in Calabar, have been arrested by operatives of the Cross River State Police Command.

The teenagers who were paraded alongside 50 other crime suspects by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa,  robbed the filling station of N2m at gun point alongside other gang members still at large.

According to the State Police Commissioner, his men swung into action after receiving distress call from one Joseph Attoh, that armed robbers had raided his filling station. Three suspected robbers were arrested by the police on June 9.

He said, “On June 9, one Joseph Ogar Attoh (male) of number 26 IBB Way, Calabar, alleged that a gang of armed men came to his filling station at Mayne Avenue by Weber Street in Calabar to rob him of the sum of N2m.

“Three suspects were later arrested. They are Isaac Obong, Daniel James and Ofonime Ukpong. In a bid to recover the money and other incriminating items, search warrants were executed in their premises. The suspects have confessed to the crime and will soon be arraigned in court.”

The two 18-year-old boys,  Isaac Obong and Daniel James, who spoke with Southern City News alleged that they were forced into the robbery operation. The teenagers further disclosed that Ofonime Ukpong, who was among those arrested was ill.

Obong said, “This is the first time I am going into big-time robbery. My parents are dead and I have been catering for myself all alone. We were recruited on the street to join in the operation.

“I was on my way back from work when they recruited me. I vulcanise tyres. We were not actually with guns, we were only asked to be on the watch out. We were caught while the other robbers with guns escaped. We were not given any money.”

James’ narration was not different, but he claimed that it was Obong who pointed him to the robbery gang.

“I lost my father some years ago and that was how I crashed out of secondary school. After dropping out, I am currently learning how to repair vehicle radiator. I had just returned from work on that fateful day and on getting home my mother said there was no food in the house.

“I went to my brother’s barbing shop to inform him of the situation at home but on my way back, this Isaac friend came with some people and they forced me to join them. They (the armed robbers) insisted that they would kill me if I do not join them. I had no option but to join them. This is my first robbery attempt and I was forced to join them.”

2 Kids From Same Family Kidnapped At Their School In Anambra
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 02:43 PM - No Replies

A family has cried out for help after their two kids were kidnapped from their primary school in Anambra and no one has information on their whereabouts at the moment.

The kids, Franklin Ezekwere, 4, and Maryann Ezekwere, 2, were said to have been abducted at the Igwedimma Nursery and Primary School located in the same compound with St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government of Anambra State.

School management have been unable to explain what happened to the kids. It was gathered that their school bags were seen in their classes but the teachers were unable to say where they were. Since the incident happened on July 3, 2018, their whereabouts are still unknown.

According to the father of the victims, Mr. Nonso Ezekwere, the kids were taken to the school on the morning of that fateful day and at about 2pm their mother went to the school to pick them but they were not in their respective classes, though their bags were there. Mr Ezekwere added that when the mother asked for the missing children, the teachers and headmistress were unable to offer an explanation.

It's suspected that the kids might have been abducted and taken into captivity by suspected kidnappers. The matter has been reported to the police but efforts made so far have not yielded results as the victims were yet to be found.

The parents of the victims, from Ibughubu community, Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government area of the Anambra State, are appealing to the members of the public to report to the nearest police station if the victims were found anywhere or contact the family with the following phone numbers: O8036884905 or 08067729583.

Kemi Olunloyo To Sue Premium Times For N5billion
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 02:41 PM - No Replies

Kemi Olunloyo who was recently in the news after she disclosed that she has converted to Islam, few months after she testified at Salvation Ministries in Port-Harcourt, has called out online news publication, Premium Times, who she claimed will be dragged to court in a N5billion defamation lawsuit.

Kemi Olunloyo in a video she shared on Twitter, accused Premium Times of igniting a fight between her and her father, which according to her, made them not to talk for two years. The journalist also stated that her father who the news publication claimed disowned her, never granted them an interview.

Kemi Olunloyo who also added that she has an audio recording of her father which will be shared soon, accused Premium Times of wrecking havoc with her father's letterhead which they distorted. Here is the short video below;

Premium Times report on Victor Olunloyo, a former Governor of Oyo State disowning his daughter, Kemi Olunloyo reads;

The Second Republic governor of old Oyo State, Omololu Olunloyo, has denounced his daughter, Kemi Omololu Olunloyo, for directing verbal attacks at him and other notable individuals.

The former leader also revealed in a heart-breaking statement Thursday that Kemi, 52, had a history of mental illness and several efforts by the family and other well-wishers to moderate her erratic behaviour have been fruitless.

Describing statements credited to his daughter as “utterly irresponsible”, “libellous” and “repeatedly painful”, the octogenarian apologised to everyone who had been attacked by his daughter.

“I would like to apologise without reservation to all persons affected. I hope and pray they would graciously accept the apology,” he wrote.

Mr. Olunloyo, who was a governor under the banner of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), said even her family is not safe from Kemi’s public attacks. He specifically mentioned and apologised for Kemi’s attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, the General Oversea of Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo, and the founder of the Synagogue Church of all Nations, Temitope Joshua.

He also denounced her attack on foremost Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko, who Kemi had called a ritualist after the recent demise of his third wife.

“There seems to be a curious pair of writers, an Aboderin resident in Ireland and Kemi Olunloyo, who sometimes curiously act separately and sometimes in union. Some of their most unfortunate victims are their half siblings.

“Others of higher status in the society (like) ex-president Obasanjo and quite recently, clergy men with large respectable following, such as the General Oversea of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye, a brilliant fellow mathematician, an inspired Bishop Oyedepo, the inimitable Reverend T.B Joshua, all learned men.

“She includes me, her father. All four of us she dubs ritualists. Of course, none of us, as far as I know, is anything of sort. She has gone so far as to accuse us of various sexual crimes and gone too far to give social media itself a very dubious name, in term of uncontrolled freedom to assault others,” the frmer governor, a mathematician, said.

Mr. Ololunyo said Kemi’s “erratic” behaviour had put her in trouble in Ireland and in the United States, and the late Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, once bailed her out of jail.

“Of Late, in the last four weeks or so, she had had the audacity to pass irrelevant and hopeless comments on one of our national talented artists, prince Jide Kosoko, whom I admire so much, calling him a black widower as he has unfortunately lost three wives.

“I had thought at 52, Kemi Olunloyo will further train her mind and cease to be an embarrassment to herself and member of her nuclear, extended family and to the general public. I thank pastors and psychiatrists like Dr. Lasebikan, who had gone to great lengths at their own personal cost to restrain her from excesses and recklessness. I dissociate myself entirely form her conducts and statements.

“She must accept responsibility for her actions and utterances as well as the consequences. My condemnation is total and not in any instance defensible. My position is absolutely clear. She has gone too far and needlessly so,” he wrote.

Robbery suspects Jariri Chede, 25, and Janya Shehu, 20, who attacked vehicles conveying goods from the market in Kokongi through Wawa village in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state, have been arrested by the police.

The robbery suspects who dispossessed their victim, Sunday Ishaya of Kokongi village, of N70,000 and a Tecno phone valued at N73,000, were arrested by police detectives attached to New Bussa Division.

The suspects who emerged from the bush and attacked the victim with a single-barreled gun and cutlasses with which they inflicted injuries on him, leaving him in a pool of his blood, also went away with two cartons of dry gin valued at N9,000 and a box of snuff valued at N2,000.

Confessing to the crime while being interview by Northern City News, Shehu said;

“I don’t want my wife to lack anything; I can do anything to please her. I promised her that I will do everything to please her no matter what, not until I found myself in police net.

“I have no regrets because I voluntarily, willingly committed the crime so it doesn’t make sense to say I’m regretting, it is between me and Allah,” he said.

Asked how his wife and family would feel, Shehu said, “My wife definitely will feel bad but I committed the crime so let me go in for it and as for my parents, I have disappointed them and I pray they will forgive me.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, also added that the police are still on the trail of another member of the gang, noting that the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigation.

Few months ago,Chukuma Okoro who was paraded after he was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command, confessed to joining armed robbery gang to pay his wife’s dowry.

Shareholders protest Oando’s poor 2017 result

Shareholders under the aegis of Proactive Shareholders Association of Nigeria (PROSAN), weekend, faulted the 2017 full year result of Oando Plc, describing it as dismal and far below expectations.

The National Coordinator of PROSAN, Mr. Taiwo Oderinde, said in Lagos on Friday that members of his association who are shareholders of Oando Plc have suffered substantial financial losses as a result of the company’s poor performance.

According to Oderinde, “As responsible and concerned shareholders of Oando Plc, we took up the task to protect the company and draw the attention of the general public to the recent audited financial report year ended December 2017 which was released to the public and our findings are summarized below:

“Oando Nigeria Plc has for five consecutive years suffered incredible losses with the record breaking loss in the year 2014; the first ever in the history of our capital market. There is no sharp difference between the 2016 and 2017 audited financials.

“The company has continued to accrue debts to the point that its liabilities still surpassed its assets just like the year ended 2016. For example, it was reported that Axxela took a N1.5 billion loan/facility to finance the Central Horizon Expansion pipeline’s term loans among others. In addition to that loan, Oando Trading Ltd accessed over N217.2 billion ($700 million) foreign denominated loan as short line trade finance facilities in 2017 alone.

“Finally, our group solidly believes that the present management of the company is just playing hide and seek game by using all resources at their disposal to entrench themselves in the company as against the interest of the majority shareholders of the company who have been denied of dividends in the last five years due to their financial recklessness,” Oderinde added.

Honeywell Flour reports 34% revenue growth for 2018

Honeywell Flour Mills Plc (HFMP) has announced its audited results for the year ended March 31, 2018. Revenue increased by 34% to N71.5 billion, versus the N53.2 billion recorded in the comparable prior year period.

Given the increase in production activities and higher energy costs due to major disruptions in gas supplies, cost of sales grew by 37% to N55.4 billion, it said.

The company also reported a gross profit growth of 26% compared to the prior year period, from N12.7 billion to N16.1 billion while gross margin as a percentage of net sales was 22% for the period.

Selling & Distribution costs grew in line with increased volumes and reflected the increased costs associated with transporting finished goods out of its plant at the Tin Can-Island Port, Apapa where there has been a constant traffic gridlock for months as the Federal Government and several stakeholders embarked on palliative measures to fix the roads.

The ongoing rehabilitation works on the Ijora axis of the Apapa road network has reached an advanced stage and the completion is expected to improve accessibility inbound and outbound Apapa; this will enhance better product delivery to customers.

Profit after Tax grew by 3% from N4.3 billion in FY2017 to N4.4 billion in FY2018. The growth was primarily a result of a 15% increase in operating profit which grew from N8.3 billion to N9.5 billion and which was partially offset by interest expenses and taxation. Net finance costs increased from N3.7 billion to N4.6 billion during the reporting period.

We Won’t Donate Land For Ranching — South-East Governors
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 10:33 AM - No Replies

Governors of the South-East states rose from a meeting in Enugu on Sunday evening with a decision that no land would be made available for the establishment of cattle ranches in the zone.

The meeting, which held at the Enugu State Government House, had the governors of Enugu (Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi), Ebonyi (Dave Umahi) in attendance, while Abia and Anambra were represented by the deputy governors.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was absent and was not represented by his deputy.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, presented the association’s ‘template on restructuring’ to the governors at the meeting, which ended late on Sunday evening.

Addressing journalists after the parley, the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, Umahi, disclosed that the governors had agreed that ranching would not be allowed in the zone.

Umahi explained that the reports that some South-East states had made land available for the establishment of ranches, based on a request by the Federal Government, were not true.

The Ebonyi State Governor stressed that while the Federal Government had not asked for any land for ranches, the governors would not accede to such a request, should it be made.

“No land in the South-East has been donated for ranching. We have not donated any land; we have not been asked to donate and we are not going to donate.

“Ranching is not approved by the South-East governors in the South-East,” Umahi declared.

The governors, in the same vein, condemned the recent killings in Plateau State, and demanded “justice for Plateau people.”

The governors, however, raised the alarm over what they described as challenges posed by the movement of herdsmen in the South-East.

They agreed to meet with heads of federal security agencies over the development.

Reading from a communiqué adopted at the meeting, Umahi said, “The South-East Governors Forum commiserates with the Governor of Plateau State and the people of the state for the recent killings.

“We condemn the killings and join other regions to demand justice for the Plateau people.

“South-East governors have noticed increased challenges in the movement of herdsmen from one state and region to another with the resultant effect of massive destruction of farmlands with attendant clashes with farmers.

“South-East governors have been spending huge funds in settling farmers whose farms and crops are destroyed – we, therefore, request an emergency meeting in the South-East with federal security chiefs, farmers and herdsmen to stop the movements and prevent clashes.”

Following the presentation by Ohanaeze, the South-East governors restated their demand for restructuring.

“Ndigbo’s Stand on Restructuring of Nigeria was presented to the South-East Governors Forum by the Ohanaeze President, based on the resolutions arising from the Awka enlarged Igbo meeting.

“He (Ohanaeze President) also laid down the template for the governors. The Forum thanked Ohanaeze on a job well done and reiterated its earlier stand that restructuring is the only way forward for Nigeria.

“The Forum also decided that the governors should take a studied look at the template of restructuring and will make its final stand clear by the next meeting of the Forum,” the communiqué said.

The governors, at the meeting, observed that the ‘dispute’ between the governments of Anambra and Ebonyi states over the recent renaming of Abakiliki Street in Awka, Anambra State, was due to ‘communication gap which is already being closed.’

Quote:While speaking with state house correspondents, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said that going by the numbers, the Buhari administration has exceeded its campaign promises to Nigerians.

''Government cannot create all the jobs obviously but it is providing the enabling environment for the private sector and everyone else to create jobs. The Rice Farmers Association has credited this administration for the creation of 6 million new jobs in the area of agriculture. That is enormous. In the constructive industry, so much money is been spent and they are rehiring staff that were formerly laid off. If you add all these numbers, the APC administration under President Buhari would have exceeded the promises that it gave to Nigerians'' Garba said

Governors, senators to discuss Imoke Panel’s report

Quote:Posted By: Yusuf Alli

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Uche Secondus has invited presidential aspirants, governors, senators and other leaders to a meeting today in Abuja. The meeting is coming amid plans by leaders of the Reformed-All Progressives Congress(R-APC) to defect to the PDP.

The presidential aspirants invited are: ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor Ahmed Makarfi; ex-Minister of Special Duties Tanimu Kabiru Turaki(SAN); ex-Governors Sule Lamido and Ibrahim Shekarau, as well as others.

The session will discuss terms for accepting R-APC leaders, such as Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara and others into the party.

Top on the agenda is the report of the ex-Governor Liyel Imoke Contact and Mobilisation Committee, which has been negotiating with R-APC and about 30 “minor” parties.

Ahead of today’s meeting, tension is building up in the PDP over alleged plot by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose to “influence” defection terms in favour of Saraki, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are interested in the presidential ticket.

Wike is accused of hatching a script for Tambuwal as the anointed candidate.

Some governors and leaders of the party, including those on the Board of Trustees (BOT) are opposed to a “work-to-the-answer” method for any aspirant.

PDP leaders from the North have also queried why the two Southern governors will dictate to the North the choice of a presidential candidate.

The Northern leaders may meet next week depending on the decision of today’s talks.

The notice of the meeting was conveyed to the critical stakeholders by National Secretary Umaru Tsauri.

The notice reads: “The National Chairman of our great party, the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, hereby invites all PDP presidential aspirants, all PDP governors and former governors, PDP members of the National Assembly and former members, all members of the BOT, members of PDP former ministers forum and all state chairmen to a crucial meeting on Monday, 9th July, 2018 at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.”

Although the notice was silent on the agenda, a source in the National Working Committee (NWC) said the “meeting will discuss the proposed defection of R-APC leaders and other bigwigs to PDP; alliance talks from other parties and the way forward for PDP in 2019.

“We will specifically look into the report and recommendations of ex-Governor Liyel Imoke Contact and Mobilisation Committee which had been holding talks with likely defectors and our leaders in some affected states.

“Certainly, we will also consider the offers from Saraki, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso and others who are interested in returning to PDP with a desire to contest for the presidential ticket.

“Do not forget that there are some knotty issues in the report which have not been clearly defined. This is what is delaying the expected mass defection to PDP.”

The source added: “The outcome of our meeting on Monday (today) will determine how our party structure will now look like; the limits we can accommodate for the defectors and whatever R-APC and others have in stock.”

The Nation on Saturday reported that the R-APC leaders have made tough demands PDP. There are four knotty issues yet to be settled.

The four pegs of negotiation are:
°conceding state party structure to R-APC on 60 to 40 per cent basis or 40-60 per cent ratio;
°automatic ticket to re-contest for elective posts by Senators, Representatives, House of Assembly members;
°a change of name by PDP;
°and governorship tickets for some R-APC aspirants in states like Kaduna, Kwara, Kogi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno states.

A BOT member said: “We are aware that Wike favours Tambuwal and Fayose is insisting he must play a major role on who gets the presidential mandate of the party. We won’t allow anyone to dictate to us.

“Some of us from the North cannot understand why the two Southern governors are interested in the choice of a presidential candidate from our region than Northerners themselves.

“If they allow democracy to prevail at today’s meeting, we will abide by the will of the majority. Otherwise, we will convene a meeting of Northern PDP leaders next week.

“This meeting is an acid test for Secondus. He should place the interest of the party above any other consideration.”

A PDP governor, who spoke in confidence, said: “Some of our colleagues are behaving as if they have the presidential ticket of PDP in their pockets; we have had enough of this nonsense.
“We will be frank with ourselves at the meeting.

The Liyel Imoke Committee only recommended a level-playing field for all. No anointing, no adoption and no emperor style of bullying stakeholders into submission on any candidate. Those defectors must play by our rules and nothing else.”

Kogi PDP Rejects Dino Melaye. Says He Will Be A Liability Not An Asset To Them
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2018, 10:18 AM - No Replies

Quote:Independent Newspapers Nigeria

LOKOJA – As embattled senator Dino Melaye is set to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected any attempt to impose Senator Dino Melaye as the sole senatorial candidate on the people of the Kogi West in 2019.
The group made this known through its chairman, Hon. Shaibu Momoh, at a meeting held in Lokoja, over the weekend.

The group declared that its main objective was to work with other leaders in Kogi West, to present a credible candidate from Yagba axis, warning that imposition of candidate by any group or individual will be resisted vehemently.

“That the news of an attempt to impose the controversial Senator Dino Melaiye on the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) Kogi West, by the National Leadership of the party, as Automatic Senatorial candidate for the 2019 National Assembly election is hereby Rejected in it totality and unacceptable”, he said.
According to the group, Senator Dino Melaiye comes from a Ijumu local government area of kogi West that has been producing the senator for the Senatorial district for the past 12 years and adding another 4 years will make 16 years while the rest 6 local government areas will still be waiting for their turn.

He stressed that of recent the need for a shift to other local government areas became inevitable, universal option and it has become a serious campaign issue.
“PDP Leadership in kogi West endorsed by the state Leadership was the first Party to take a firm decision to shift/zone the position to other Federal constituency of the state for equity and justice, since over a year now.
“Known aspirants have emerge from other areas excluding Ijumu in PDP and they have being on the field carrying out their consultations and preparing their structures in preparation for the party Senatorial primaries expending huge amount of resources and time for the past 12 months.

“To now impose a strange candidate under a questionable reasons will not only be wrong, unjust and unfair but it will totally collapse all efforts by our highly respected leaders at rebuilding and rebranding the party in the state there by giving an opportunity and undue advantage to the opposition party APC that is in government to contend with”, he warned.

The Chairman noted that Senator Melaiye, as he stands today, was not an asset to PDP but a very big liability because he has no noticeable structure and followers that can substantially erode the consequential damage, such imposition could course on PDP in the state.
“The result of his recall failure by Government backed agitators are not because of his political strength but rather it is the reflection of the wider rejection by the people of the sitting APC government, their policies, unpaid salaries, pensions and gratuities and ethnic coloration rather than the love for senator Melaiye, infact many people despite Dino’s rough behavior and they will not want him back.

“He is seen as too controversial and his unacceptable behaviors are the serious negative views of the public against him.

“He can not win any election in a free and fair atmosphere and PDP should therefore not gamble with him as a candidate for now.
“He needs a serious reformation period which PDP Kogi state do not have the luxury of time to dispense.

“The leadership of PDP in the state under the apex leadership of two former governors of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Captain Idris Wada, senator Tunde Ogbeha Alhaji Musa Ahmadu and host of other critical stakeholders have been struggling to rebrand a PDP that can recapture power from an aggressive none performing government of APC in the state.

“They have reconcile several prominent strong men and women who came back to the party and their re-entrance back to PDP is without any condition or concession but genuine.

“Some restructuring on House of Representatives, Governorship and state Houses of Assembly are on-going and imposition of a Senatorial candidate will cause a major derailment and unimaginable crises that PDP may not be able to overcome before the general election.

“The critical leaders are on ground and they understand this great danger and trap, hence their rejection of this Dino imposition”, he lamented

According to him, the case of Kogi State was far different from that of Kwara, Sokoto or Kano where the APC defectors have very large followers sufficient enough to cover revolts, Kogi case was peculiar and we employ the National Leadership to listen and abide by the views of the apex leaders of the party from the state.
“Senator Dino Melaye is welcome to PDP as specified under the Constitution of the party. He is free to aspire to any position of his choice but must take cognisance of existing mutual arrangement.

“He will not be discriminated against in any form in the conduct of the affairs in the state. He should come into the party with genuine open mind and contribute meaningfully to growth of the PDP like any other senior members of the party”, he noted.

The group therefore appealed to the National working committee any senior organ of the party to reject in totality the forced imposition, impunity of candidates, provide level playing ground for all aspirants to the party’s various contestable positions, be transparent and conduct very open and credible processes leading to the selection of there various candidates so that the whole world will see that PDP was truly prepared to retake control of government come 2019.

Morning Devotional For Monday 9th July

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 9TH JULY.

THE POWER IS IN YOU ALREADY.

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me (2 Kings 2:9).

Many people have wrongly interpreted our opening verse to mean that Elisha requested for a double amount of the anointing that was on Elijah. They even count the number of miracles between the two of them, and conclude that Elisha indeed had a double amount because he wrought twice as many miracles as Elijah did. That’s not how it works with God. You don’t count the number of miracles to determine the power of the Spirit that’s present.

Even if we were to consider their miracles, Elijah wrought one that we could say outclassed all the ones from Elisha: the fact that he (Elijah) was raptured as an act of faith (2 Kings 2:11-12). Remember that the Bible says, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death…” (Hebrews 11:5). This therefore means that Elijah required faith to accomplish a similar feat. Elisha, on the other hand, fell sick and died sick, though the glory was still in his bones.

What Elisha requested for was the right of the firstborn, which was signified by the double portion (Deuteronomy 21:15-17). He wanted to assume the position of leadership amongst the other prophets in Israel, who at that time were under the tutelage of Prophet Elijah. And because of his spiritual perception, he got it and became the senior prophet over them (2 Kings 2:1-25). Remember, there’s a difference between a double amount and a double portion of that amount.

As a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit without measure. He’s anointed you with His power; so you don’t need a second or third anointing. You’re already replete with God; you’re full of Him, with all His power. What’s important for you is to know how to activate that power in you and make it effective.

Paul said to Timothy, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” (2 Timothy 1:6). It’s your responsibility to stir up the anointing that’s in you for it to produce results, and you do this by being continuously filled with the Spirit; speaking in tongues, and meditating on the Word.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of your Spirit whom I’ve received in His fullness. He’s fully functional and operational in and through me, effecting your will and purpose here on earth. I stir up His power in me today to alter circumstances, bring about positive changes and produce lasting and abiding results, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Ephesians 5:18-20 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

A Customs official would be thanking his stars after escaping death at the hands of angry mob in Apapa area of Lagos state. It was gathered that the Customs personnel and his colleagues allegedly killed someone in the area because of "smuggled rice". The young men in the area mobilized themselves and descended on the officer they could catch.

The Customs officer was beaten black and blue and also injured in the process.

A video posted online shows the moment the officer was begging for his life after being left bloodied.

Some youths restrained their colleagues from further beating the man as they decided to leave him because of his status as para-military personnel.

Nigeria’s New National Airline To Commence Operation This Year – Minister
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 11:00 PM - Replies (3)

Quote:The proposed national airline for Nigeria would be unveiled before the end of the year, the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has confirmed.

Mr Sirika, a former pilot, gave the assurance while receiving the Outline Business Case Certificate of Compliance for the establishment of the airline from Chidi Izuwah, the Director General, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

The minister said that the presentation of the certificate was a testament on how far the project had gone.

The proposed airline will gulp $8.8 million preliminary cost and $300 million as take-off cost.

The Nigerian government is not fully funding the airline as it has adopted midwifing it via the option of a Public Private partnership, to deliver a national carrier that would stand the test of time and be world class in operation and management, he said.

According to Mr Sirika, Nigeria will receive the first set of five airplanes for the airliner on December 19.

The airline will make profit in three years after operations, he said.

“We will make the investments and follow the business plan through private sector management.

“We intend to get a 30 aircraft market in five years. But we will begin with five aircraft on the day of lunch. It was not clear whether an order has been made for the aircraft, but the minister in May met a team from Boeing in Abuja.

“At Farnborough International Public Airshow coming July 18, 2018 in London, we will unveil the name, logo, colour scheme, the structure and the type of airplane about the national carrier.

“We will also place the order for the aircraft at the event,” he said.

Mr Sirika explained that the government would step in to cover the funding gap at the onset and ease out thereafter.

He said the government would not get involved in the management of the national carrier.

He said Nigeria’s population of over 180 million people is huge enough to support aviation, adding that the airline would take advantage of Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) that the country has with over 70 countries.

According to him, it will also take advantage of the Africa Single Air Transport Market and will be the best player if the government gets it right.

“But if we don’t, it will become a threat to us. But I believe we are on the right track.

The minister also gave an assurance that the national carrier would not kill the domestic airlines operating in the country.

The Director General of ICRC, Mr Izuwah, said the presentation of the Certificate of Compliance was an official green light to proceed with the procurement process.

He explained that the government would bring its contribution to kickstart the airline, adding that the amount of equity the partners would hold would determine government contribution.

According to him, start up cost over the next three years is about $300 million, but pre-start-up is $8.8 million.

“The rest of the investment will be equity injection which will happen in tranches because you do not need all the monies at once.

External capital injection also depends on the profitability of the airline.

“Though, you need that initial government financial to make it take off, but what is important is that the national carrier will be entirely private sector controlled.

“There will be zero government interference. But if that happens, it invalidates the certificate and the entire process.

“This is a bankable business, and the government will get a strategic partner who will invest in the national carrier and when we get through the bidding process, more facts will emerge.

“The government will have to spend the pre-start up cost like the brand name, the office and other start up.

“ It will be a world class airline with domestic, regional and international operations,” he said. (NAN)

Kano: Passengers escape death as Azman plane loses landing control
By Murtala Adewale, Kano |   08 July 2018   |   4:09 am

[Image: 5n-sys-azman-air-boeing-737-56n_Planespo...e1a585.jpg]No fewer than 135 passengers on board Azman Air, yesterday, escaped death after the Boeing 737 plane failed two consecutive times to land at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.
The airplane, which left Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos at exactly 11.30p.m., attempted to touch down in Kano at about 12.55a.m. before it was overwhelmed by turbulent wind.
An employee of the airline said passengers’ lives were at risk.
“It was a narrow escape and a risk at the same time. The pilot made two attempts to land and failed two times. That was really risky,” he said.
i

One of the passengers, Nura Aminu, told The Guardian the pilot announced that he was having difficulty to land due to heavy wind and promised to manage the situation.
“Later, he told us the flight had received signal from the towers to land. Unfortunately, the wind was still very heavy when the instructions were given,” Aminu said.
“We spent more than 20 minutes on air. What would have happened if there was no fuel in the plane? We thank God,” he said.
It was learnt that the plane was later diverted to Abuja, where it landed at exactly 2:00a.m. This was after an attempt to land at the Kaduna Airport also failed due to total darkness.

Moses Aji: Any Benue Indigene Who Votes For Buhari In 2019 Will Be Cursed
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 07:27 PM - No Replies

Speaking over the arraignment of former Benue State governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, by the Federal Government, over alleged illegal possession of arms, President, National Association of Benue State Indigenes, NABENSI, Moses Mwarga Aji, has stated that any Benue indigene who votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections will be cursed.

Aji who challenged Buhari to withdraw his inaugural remarks that he belongs to everybody, told newsmen in Kaduna that President Buhari’s action and body language has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he belongs to the Fulani extraction only.

NABENSI President who argued that a lot of people have been carrying arms illegally in the country without any arrest by the federal government’s security agencies, described the arrest and arraignment of the former governor of Benue State as unfortunate.

“I think president Buhari should go back and withdraw his Inaugural speech that” I’m for nobody, I’m for everybody”. President Buhari has shown clearly that he belongs to the Fulani extraction and apart from that he does not consider any other ethnic group in this county outside the Muslims and Fulani herdsmen,” he said.

“A lot of people have been carrying arms illegally moving around with sophisticated weapons and nothing is happening to them.

“Where did the Fulani people get AK47 from, and moving around, busy killing people every now and then but nothing happened to them yet Buhari did not comment.

“How many arms were caught with Susuam. They are victimizing him because he’s a staunch member of PDP. But the prayers of the masses will guide him and protect him irrespective of the frustration and threat being meted out to him as former governor.

“A lot of people possess arms illegally, a lot of people are coming in with arms illegally and nothing is happening to them. Nobody has questioned them. Our borders are porous and people are getting arms in anyhow, why must it be the former governor of Benue State that’s illegal. What Federal Government is doing to him will make him more popular and attract more people’s sympathy with him politically,” he explained.

Aji enjoined indigenes of Benue State to remain calm, be vigilante and peaceful, saying there would be no development without peace.

“But if you’re push to the wall, you have no option than to react. I said this without fear of favour. Buhari has shown to the entire world that he is unfair.

“Miyetti Allah have been making provocative statements and utterances and later execute them. Can anyone compare lives of human beings with cow. Miyetti Allah have been reacting that it was a retaliatory killings and nobody or DSS arrested them.

“When over 200 were killed in Plateau, nobody was arraigned, it happened in Benue, Miyetti Allah claimed responsibility and nothing happen to their leaders.

“January first, Many were killed in Benue, January 13th, Miyetti Allah came out and said there will be more bloodshed in Benue, and it comes to pass but nobody arrested their leaders the claimants, so how can anybody say Buhari has been fair to Benue people who voted him massively against their Christian brother, Goodluck Jonathan?

“Let me send him a message to him, that Buhari has lost in the entire Benue State, nobody will vote for him in 2019. And anyone who vote for him in 2019 will be cursed,” he stated.

Kidnappers And Killers Of John Iheanacho Arrested (Photos)

Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 07:24 PM - No Replies

The police today shared pictures showing the moment some notorious kidnappers were nabbed by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP Monitoring Unit last month. The suspected criminals were responsible for the death of a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, John Iheanacho.

Despite collecting a ransom of N6million from his family, the kidnappers held the victim hostage in their camp in Afam, a community in the Oyingbo area of the state, until he died from a gunshot wound.

His demise was hidden from the family about three months after his abduction, when his corpse was found in a shallow grave at the camp by the police.

It was learnt that the seven-man gang had trailed a man in a Toyota Camry to an estate in Irebe, a suburb of Port Harcourt, on March 20, 2018 but missed their target.

While returning from the operation in the night, they saw Iheanacho driving into the estate and went after him in their car. The man was in front of his house when they intercepted him.

They were said to have shot him in the leg and whisked him away in his car to their camp.

It was gathered that they subsequently contacted the deceased’s wife and demanded a N50m ransom, which was later reduced to N6m.

It was gathered that the family reported the case to the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team as the gang failed to release the man after the ransom was paid.

The operatives subsequently tracked down the suspects, who led them to the camp, and Iheanacho’s body was exhumed.

Man Commits Suicide After He Was Scammed Of 6 Months Visa By An Agent

[Image: 35497189_1706178779450244_1315894335006310400_n.jpg]
A Nigerian man identified Idoko Joephat Esomchi also know as Potus has chosen to end his own life by drinking poison after a visa agent scammed him with a 6 months visa.

According to reports gathered by ToriMill, Mr Potus promised Mr Potus had an agreement of 6 months visa with a 3 years permanent permit with an agent for $2000. It was learnt that the said agent betray their agreement and later gave Mr Potus a 2 weeks visa.

ToriMill reached out to the family and friends of the deceased and we learnt that when Potus first got to Kazakhstan, the first job he got was a car wash job and the pay was too low so he decided to apply for a teaching job. He managed to get a teaching job with free apartment and other stuff but when the school discovered he didn’t have visa they refused to do resident permit for him ( don’t we mentioned that he went on a 2weeks visa) so he was used by the school without any payment.

We gathered that a friend assisted him by providing accommodation for him because he was homeless with no job after sometime his friend decided to travel back to Nigeria and told Potus to stay back in Kazakhstan but Potus refused because he felt there is nothing left for him in Kazakhstan since he couldn’t extend his stay. So he booked flight back to Nigeria and called his friend that left Kazakhstan and told him he can’t go back to Lagos with the shame of coming back home with nothing and he borrowed money from different people.

His friend, who assisted him when he (Potus) was homeless in Kazakhstan help arranged a place for him to stay in Abuja with another person. ToriMill get to know that, 5days ago Potus drank poison and died in the apartment of the person he was squatting with in Abuja.

The luck that the guy Potus was living with had was that someone saw Potus drinking poison so neighbors didn’t accused the innocent guy that was accommodating him.

Reaching out to Potus sister and in law, it was also disclosed that whenever Mr Potus is angry he always say he is going to kill himself that it’s been a long time since he had that taught of suicide. May his Soul Rest in Perfect peace.

Friends and family of the deceased took to the deceased timeline to write him a tribute;

Akume, Ortom’s Rift Deepens, Governor Plans Defection

Quote:John Charles

All may not be well in the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress as there are strong indications that Governor Samuel Ortom may likely dump the party anytime soon .

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the decision of the governor to quit might not be unconnected with the alleged plan to stop him from contesting the governorship race in the ruling APC .

It was gathered that the Presidency was not happy with the governor for confronting of the Federal Government on the killings in the state and had reportedly decided to replace him in the forthcoming governorship election .

The plan , according to a source , is said to have been executed at the APC’ s top level by a leader of the party in the state , Senator George Akume.

An impeccable source told our correspondent that a one - time House of Representatives member, Mr. Emmanuel Jime , who was denied the ticket of the party in 2015, was being considered to fly the party ’ s flag in 2019 .

The source cited the party ’ s recent national convention as a pointer to what is to come as T- shirts , posters and customised table water , bearing Jime ’ s name as well as mobile toilets bearing Jime ’ s posters for the Benue governorship election flooded the Eagle Square , Abuja.

Akume, whose influence had helped Ortom become governor in 2015 , controlled the party structure from ward to state levels in the just concluded congresses .

Ortom had recently told journalists that he came to the party without a structure in 2015 , hence he was not bothered about the development .

However , SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that Ortom had constituted his campaign team at ward and local government levels comprising the names of his loyalists who were detailed to prepare for any eventuality.

One of the aides to the governor told our correspondent in Makurdi on Friday that members of the campaign team were those earlier pencilled to take control of party structure at ward and local government levels but who were denied.

He added that the same people were to take control of the campaign team which would be used when the governor decides to move.

The source said , “It is true that we don’ t want to take any chances because it is clear that the chances of our principal to fly the APC ’ s flag in the forthcoming election are very slim .

It is no longer news that the governor does not control the party ’ s structure and there was a glaring signal at the national convention in Abuja a few weeks ago where our governor was reduced to a mere spectator.

“ His name was not even mentioned for introduction by the master of ceremony .

His days in the APC are numbered ; he is just waiting for the appropriate time to move. The campaign team we have constituted is in preparation for the plan to move. ”

According to the source , the only delay for Ortom ’ s defection is the uncertainty around the party he is moving to .

“ There is no specific party for now . That is why the governor is taking his time . But he is already establishing contact with the Social Democratic Party . Some of his supporters are already in the SDP , while chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party are also prevailing on him to join them . ”

When contacted , the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase , debunked the plans of his principal to defect.

“ There may be disagreements between the two leaders , which is natural, but that has been put to rest. The issue of defection is not on the ground at all for now , ” Akase said .

Similarly, the state chairman of the party , Abba Yaro , denied the alleged plans of the governor to defect, saying “he is going nowhere. ”

When asked of the party ’ s plan to bring Jime as an alternative to Ortom , the party chairman said , “ There is nothing like that.

All those things he did at the Eagle Square in Abuja is a way of exercising his freedom . Let him come to Benue and tell us . ”

APC, R-APC ; Saraki Imbroglio : 2019 Permutations Likely To Be Altered

Quote:ON JULY 8, 2018

By Jide Ajani

From Friday evening, up till the early hours of yesterday, politicians in some parts of the country, particularly the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, launched into a series of meetings in the wake of the Supreme Court judgment clearing Senate President Bukola Abubakar Saraki of charges bordering on assets declaration. Whereas information made available to Sunday Vanguard confirmed that Saraki has not decided on what his next political move would be, there were a few uneducated – though desirable – suggestions from some quarters that he should rush into the presidential contest. Indeed, having endured and persevered three years of hedgy-baddgy legal tug, while simultaneously serving as Senate President, Saraki’s clean bill of health, in a manner of speaking, is set to ignite fresh permutations and counter permutations in the political sphere. This report will show the correlation between the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, and Saraki’s travails, as well as how the clearance of the former paved the way for the renewed collaboration that brought the Goodluck Jonathan administration down. And although there is a world of difference between the augmented dismal positioning of the Jonathan administration and the Muhammadu Buhari regime, there is genuine reason the ruling party should put its house in order, especially in the face of the growing angst in the land, occasioned by insecurity. The coming days are expected to be interesting ahead of the 2019 general elections.

TINUBU: FLASH BACK TO NOVEMBER 30, 2011

After the ‘NOT GUILTY’ verdict of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2011, Sunday Vanguard published a tie-back (a summary of earlier published works) which this paper had done, explaining to the discerning Nigerian public that the trial was nothing more than a fool’s errand, a wasted effort, meant to embarrass the former governor of Lagos State. In fact, the precursor to the trial was the fear at the seat of power – then – that Tinubu’s incremental political stature was going to be a challenge to the Goodluck Jonathan presidency and, therefore, he needed to be cut to size. Unfortunately, however, the rush to get him convicted, at all costs, led to some fundamental errors of procedure, which, ultimately, created a leeway for his clearance. Sunday Vanguard pointed out all these and, when the CCT’s Danladi Umar pronounced Tinubu ’NOT GUILTY’, it was a testament to the underground reporting that this paper had done.

Tinubu had, on November 30, 2011 after his acquittal on the three-count charge that was egregiously slammed on him, regarding allegations of improper assets’ declaration filings, particularly on issues of operating foreign accounts, against the laws of the land, said: “Where and when are the transactions in these accounts operated? What are the balances in each of these accounts? What is the ageing analysis of those balances and their sources if any? The government prosecutors and some of their political leaders in their media campaign listed these accounts and made spurious allegations making it seem as if I looted public funds and stashed it away in these accounts. Yet they have failed to provide evidence to prove these weighty, yet unfounded allegations, which shows clearly at the tribunal that this was a political persecution from the very beginning.

“The government and its lawyers in their handling of this case have revealed a crass lack of knowledge of financial rules at home and abroad thus, embarrassing me as a citizen, their own government and the country”.

The former governor of Lagos State further stated that wasting millions of public funds to prosecute a political vendetta is unjustifiable in a country like ours and failing to apply both the principle and doctrine of materiality; cost and benefit analysis in their so-called investigation and prosecution of this case is questionable.

The former governor of Lagos State further stated that wasting millions of public funds to prosecute a political vendetta is unjustifiable in a country like ours and failing to apply both the principle and doctrine of materiality; cost and benefit analysis in their so-called investigation and prosecution of this case is questionable.

“I feel ashamed that the government is using a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and a costly team of attorneys to prosecute this case, thereby demonstrating lack of policy direction to develop and train hundreds of lawyers in the Ministry of justice and office of the public prosecutor. I dare ask what is the aim of outsourcing a case like this to outside lawyers with huge professional bills,”he said?

“The government equally failed to employ the FOI to disclose to Nigerians how much are in these accounts and how much the government was expending to prosecute.

“I am still in consultation with my attorneys on the next plan of action. The longtime of media trial and political persecution have had toll on my businesses, my political reputation and constituted an infringement of my rights and that of my family as Nigerian citizens. It is only a wicked system that will list minors and portray them as looters for having in their accounts amounts in the hundreds meant for their upkeep and school runs.”

All these happened in 2011.

SARAKI: PRESENT DAY (JULY 6, 2018)

Once Saraki became Senate President by eyeballing his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and going ahead to defy same when filling leadership positions in the Senate, even a fool would have known that there would be a fight-back. But no one expected the fight-back to come in the form a dirty legal fight.

The legally laid down procedure for conducting an investigation in the event of any allegation of a breach of its Act by public officers covered by the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act provides thus:

(1)Any complaint that a public officer has committed a breach of or has not complied with the provisions of this Act shall be made to the Bureau. (2) Upon the receipt of any complaint, the Bureau shall cause a notice to be served on the public officer concerned to appear before it within a period of fourteen days from the service of the said notice. (3) The Bureau shall upon the commencement of investigation serve a notice debarring the public officer concerned from disposing of or otherwise dealing with any property which is the subject of investigation.

By virtue of the above Section, the Code of Conduct Bureau is required and mandated by law to serve notice on any public officer against whom a complaint has been made. But that did not happen. So, after the Supreme Court pronounced Saraki not guilty, the Senate President had this to say: “At the end of a tortuous journey of 1018 days, counting from September 22, 2015, when the case began at the Tribunal, I am happy that I have been vindicated. The Supreme Court has affirmed that there is no evidence of false declaration of assets. The court also observed that certain agents took over the responsibility of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in this trial, and one can infer that this was done towards a pre-determined end.

“I have always believed in the infallibility of our Judiciary, secure in the knowledge that our courts – the last refuge of the oppressed – would never condemn the innocent. This outcome is also a vindication of my belief in the rule of law.

“As I said in my first appearance at the CCT, this is a politically motivated case. The case was trumped-up in the first instance because of my emergence as the President of the Senate, against the wishes of certain forces. Ordinarily, I doubt anyone would be interested in the asset declaration form I filled over 15 years ago.

“What we have seen is the opposite. Instead of working together in the interest of the nation and to seek to do better for our people, we are fighting one another and using legal instruments to mount baseless accusations against one another. Instead of exhibiting the need for unity and working day and night for that purpose, we are stoking the fire of division and rancour. I maintain that, above all else, my CCT trial has been a flagrant vilification of my person, and shows that some people are after their personal interests rather than the national interest.

“As a result of the war of attrition, various arms of government have wasted resources needlessly. It has been three wasted years across board in this country. Three years that would have been devoted to tackling issues affecting Nigerians, including economic recovery, insecurity, youth unemployment and strengthening national institutions, were wasted on malicious prosecution. People were ready to trade-off three years that would have been devoted to fostering cooperation, unity and economic progress for their selfish ends. It is my hope that those who are behind my persecution will see the handwriting on the wall and leave me to do the work for which I was elected, so I can continue to give my all to this great country of ours.

“As many have rightly observed, it is plain to see that the anti-corruption fight is being prosecuted with vindictiveness, to target perceived political opponents. I believe in the need to fight corruption, but I will never be party to the selective application of the law or the rhetoric of an insincere anti-corruption fight”.

BETWEEN TINUBU AND SARAKI

To demonstrate why Nigeria has remained an undeveloped nation, the running of government and processes of governance have been structured in such a way as to infuse incompetence, stupidity, crass malevolence as well as lack of a clear understanding of why nations fail, into the day to day activities of government.

Take, for instance, the case of fighting corruption.

In 2006, a report was submitted to President Olusegun Obasanjo. Parts of the report are quoted below:

“The President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria – Chief OlusegunObasanjo, in June 2006 set up a Joint Task Force on fighting corruption comprising the following organizations namely; the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), The Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Police.

“On the whole each of the Establishments named above contributed five members of staff on the team. The activities of this Joint Task Force came under the control and supervision of the EFCC hence its Chairman – Mr.NuhuRibadu is the Head of the Task Force.

“The Task Force commenced its activities in a temporary office located at Asokoro. During its inaugural meeting, the team noted that its main functions were to complement the activities of their primary establishments.

“ASSETS VERIFICATION EXERCISE

“The team commenced its activities by embarking on the verification of Assets of Public Officers. This is to give it background knowledge to identify corrupt public officers for further investigation.

“In doing this, the team decided to collate copies of the Assets Declaration of all State Governors as a starting point. The forms were scrutinized and the verification exercise commenced.

“So far thirty-two State Governors have had their Assets verified. The remaining State Governors have been asked to schedule appropriate dates that they would make themselves available for the exercise. The Task Force has also notified the Deputy Governors, Speakers of State Assemblies and Secretaries, to the various State Governments to prepare for the verification exercise.

ACHIEVEMENTS

“Arising from this exercise, three issues have been identified.

“(i) Some public officers had declared Assets far above what they owned as their declaration could not be substantiated. A case of anticipatory declaration.

“(ii) Some public officers did not declare some of the properties they acquired while in office.

“(iii) The issue of ownership of foreign account and late declaration was treated with levity.

“The consequences of the above is that so far 15 State Governors have been found to have individually contravened some of the Provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Part I to the 5th Schedule, especially on the issue of false declaration of Assets and or acquisition of properties outside legitimate means.”

Interestingly, Tinubu’s name was not on the list of persons submitted as having run foul of the law.

Yet, for political reasons, the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCB, acting just to please the government of the day, went ahead to institute a case against the former governor of Lagos State.

Interestingly, the Chairman of CCB, Sam Saba, held a press conference where he excused the non-prosecution of the 15 indicted state governors in the report on the grounds that they owned up to the offences.

Funny enough, Tinubu, whose name was not on the list, was the one singled out for trial. The trial failed on technical grounds. However, based on the same technicalities, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, Danladi Umar, jettisoned his own precedence initially, but went ahead to free Saraki, before the Federal Government went on appeal, whereupon a judgment caused the case to be brought back to the CCT.

Now, the Supreme Court has spoken.

POLITICAL PERMUTATIONS

In the face of contemporary realities in the APC today, especially the sudden announcement of a Reformed-APC by Buba Galadinma, a known associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, there are many who are questioning the propriety or otherwise of such a move and such a movement at a time when the Adams Oshiomhole leadership is just settling down.

However, that does not, in any way, vitiate the realities of a desirable engagement in the quest for power and control in the political sphere.

As it happened just after the acquittal of Tinubu in 2011, the storm against the Jonathan Presidency began to gather steam after the fact of the acquittal – the same cannot be too distant now considering developments in the APC.

Just after Tinubu’s acquittal, the need for the opposition elements to coalesce began to attract some traction. At that time, this was due to the seeming inability of Jonathan to stick to some agreed terms before the 2011 general elections, chiefly, the need to restructure. Jonathan reneged.

Today, the coalition that produced the APC has suffered a plethora of pummel ling, such that certain individuals who played key roles in the formation of the party feel disenchanted and disillusioned about the direction of the affairs of the party, to the extent that they are willing to go public and cause an unnecessary discombobulation of the ruling entity, even in the face of no alternative. It is that bad. Some may not have agreed with the modus of the R-APC, yet, they are as uncomfortable as those who have dared to go the way of the R-APC.

Sunday Vanguard learnt that in most parts of the capital city of Abuja late Friday into the early hours of Saturday, series of meetings were held by some politicians on the potential for a seeming disequilibrium that the Supreme Court judgment on Saraki can wrought.

Yet, whereas it would be totally premature for any pursuit of a presidential ambition on the part of Saraki at this time, there are serious issues of dominance being interrogated in the political sphere within the context of the deliverables that the APC promised on the one hand, and the shambolic realities of today that the party cannot be excused from on the other.

A few leaders of the APC, starting with its National Chairman, recognise the shambles on ground and, therefore, plans are afoot to tackle them and set them aright. Meanwhile, there is a more compelling necessity to ensure that the grievances of a section of the critical stakeholders within the party are set straight to avoid the type of fate that befell the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in its moments of arrogance that nothing untoward was capable of derailing the party.

As of today, President Buhari remains the major-domo in the APC. However, it became too late for Jonathan to discover that his dominance of the PDP had disappeared. His first major problem was his inability to realise that the state governors and their greed, insensitivity and total disregard for party rules and regulations constituted a clear and present danger to the sustenance of the party. Buhari has, today, surrendered the APC to the whims and caprices of state governors of the party to the extent that some of the governors have stood President Buhari’s integrity on its head with their total disdain for sanity.

Therefore, the clearance of Saraki, who, from what the Unclad eyes can see, is in charge of the Senate, just as Speaker Yakubu Dogara is in alliance with aggrieved members of the House of Representatives who are also of the APC, constitute a reasonable source of interrogation of the compactness or otherwise of the ruling party.

In a Senate of 109 members and a House of 360, with both men enjoying the confidence of more than half of each chamber, such a control cannot be said to be inconsequential.

Whereas President Buhari is famously said to have (and indeed he did) defeated Jonathan with about two million votes, it would be in the political interest of the incumbent to have a more than passing interest in negotiations with aggrieved members. Pointers to this can be located in the quality and calibre of those in talks with Vice President Osinbajo just weeks before the APC convention.

For instance, 10 states were represented at the meeting. The states are Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara and Sokoto.

From those states, some of the leaders at the talks were Murtala Nayako and Senator Nyako; Speaker Dogara and a sizeable number of members of the House of Representatives; Barnabas Gemade, a former National Chairman and former Minister of Housing; Senator Danjuma Goje, a former Gombe State governor; Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi; Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, who is also a two-time governor of Kano State; a former Kebbi State governor, Adamu Aliero; Senator Dino Melaye; Saraki, who had also served as governor of Kwara State, along with the incumbent, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, as well as legislators from the state; and Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and some political leaders from the state.

In fact, the political leaders had made it known to Osinbajo that many more political leaders would have attended the talks but opted not to show their faces because of the fear of intimidation for which the administration was already known. One of the leaders said “many leaders would have been here but they are afraid that sudden arrest could be their portion”.

Those raising concerns now see in these individuals the potential of mobilising more than the two million-vote deficit. The individuals leading the teams from each of the states can, with the plethora of sub-leaders, mobilise more than 200,000, without prejudice to those who would be joining the voting eligibility net on account of age and collection of PVC.

Worse still , their agitation for more inclusiveness in the scheme of things is coming at a time of manifest, clear and present hardship in the land, a situation which, in the view of some, has blighted the popularity of President Buhari.

Her decomposing remains were found under the bed of her boyfriend after six days in Akure, Ondo State.
The young lady who had been declared missing for the past six days at the school, was found under the bed of her boyfriend in what was suspected to be a money ritual attempt by the boyfriend Adeyemi Alao popularly known as QS.
It was gathered that, Khadijat an undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, left her school some seven days ago to see her boyfriend in Akure, only to discover that she has been used for money ritual by Alao.
The source explained that Alao who based in Abuja and Khadijat had been dating him since their secondary school days but met recently and rekindle their love affairs.
She however alleged that late Khadijat was killed by Alao who kept her corpse under his bed for six days as instructed by a native doctor.
She said luck ran against Alao on the sixth day when the body of the daughter of the former deputy governor was discovered by Alao’s younger brother.
She said “the ghost of the lady appeared to Alao’s brother who reported the case to the security operatives in the state. The boy had to report because he could not keep the secret to himself.”
A family source however confirmed that Khadijat was used for money ritual saying the herbalist that prepared the money ritual for Alao is currently at large.
He said the herbalist instructed Alao to keep the corpse for seven days but luck ran out of the Abuja-based boyfriend when his younger brother met the decomposing body of Oluboyo’s daughter in mysterious manner and reported the incident to the police in Akure.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, said the command has begun investigation into the matter
Joseph said the command’s officers discovered the dead body of the undergraduate at a house at Oke-Aro area of Akure following a tip-off.
The Police image maker disclosed that some arrest had been made in connection with the death of the former deputy governor’s daughter, but said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, would address brief the public on the incident after the completion of investigations.

Heaven rejoices as souls are freed from the grip of hell. Just like every other weekend that God's servant - David Ibiyeomie goes out for evangelism, today was a remarkable one as several members of the occultic sect terrorising the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria gave their lives to Christ.
Papa, as he is fondly called, enrroled them immediately into a bible school program with a promise to train each and everyone of them in a skill acquisition upon graduation from the bible school program. This he did, as a contribution to curb crime in the Niger Delta Region

The repentant cultists surrendered the weapons in their possession and promised to bring out more weapons and friends in the days ahead.
The surrendered weapons which were handed over to the Security Agency today includes: 28 machetes, 2 axes, 1 dagger, 5 different live ammunitions, 1 cartridge and charms.

God bless David Ibiyeomie and his Church - Salvation Ministries for their contribution to the Society.

How Oshiomhole Betrayed Oyegun And Tinubu – Fayose (DETAILS
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 01:51 PM - No Replies

Quote:Governor Ayodele Fayose has fired the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole over his recent statements on the upcoming Ekiti elections.

Oshiomhole had earlier criticized Fayose, stating that he was jittery about the upcoming elections. In a response via s statement on Saturday through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said;

“Oshiomole’s secret plan to use his fraudulent Edo template in Ekiti will never work and it will attract injurious consequences. This is because Ekiti people are resolutely determined to resist rigging right on the spot.

Contrary to Adams’ diatribe, rumor peddling and rabble-rousing unbecoming of an ex-governor and national chairman of the ruling party, Fayose and PDP are only interested in credible election.

Fayose and PDP are raising the alarm because of tell-tale signs that APC and Fayemi are plotting to rig the election. The statements by top APC leaders including its former chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun that they must capture Ekiti, by all means, are very instructive in this regard.

“Nigerians witnessed the blatant rigging of Ondo and Edo governorship elections by the APC. In Ondo, it was shameless vote buying. In Edo they stopped vote counting when it was clear PDP was winning and changed the results overnight. Seeing these, who will ask us to stay stupid?”

“Adams Oshiomhole was the mastermind of Edo rigging. He is only calling Fayose the name that rightly belongs to him (Oshiomhole),”

“If Adams Oshiomhole still has problems with that election, he should address his misgivings to the US and international community.

Besides, APC challenged the election up to the Supreme Court but lost. Is Adams Oshiomhole disputing and despising the highest court of the land? It must be noted that he himself became governor by the same court judgment. “In case Adams Oshiomhole does not know, his record of double-dealing and collusion with ex-President Obasanjo to enrich himself as NLC President while deceiving workers and the suffering masses is in the public domain.

This fake Comrade hob-nobbed with OBJ in the night but came out in the day to deceive workers with empty rhetoric. In the end, OBJ hiked fuel price many times under Adams Oshiomhole’s nose.

Nigerians suffered while Adam Oshiomhole smiled to the bank. “Nigerians have not forgotten his “widow my foot” statement to that poor Edo state woman. He told the woman to “go and die”. This contrasts sharply with Fayose’s empathy for the poor and the down-trodden.

Adams Oshiomhole is a compulsive liar and power-hungry politician willing to rubbish his benefactors and kowtow to bloody dictators who will butter his bread. He betrayed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He did similarly to his own kinsman Odigie-Oyegun – all in a bid to run errands for jihadists and reactionary elements.

The shameless lies peddled by Adams Oshiomhole are a blight on the high office he occupies. How, for instance, do you direct lecturers to award marks to students? How do you identify students voting PDP? The election is still in the future: How do you even know who will vote and who will not vote, not to talk of voting PDP?

How do you know which lecturer is for you and which is not? And how do you ensure that marks are awarded? This is ridiculous and bizarre in the utmost.

He must be told that it is not a crime to photocopy one’s credentials or documents. Everyone does it for security reasons. Can Adams swear that he does not photocopy his documents? In case of loss, photocopies help to fill the void and save us unnecessary embarrassment or inconveniences.

The real reason why APC is instigating the arrest of teachers is because they know the teachers will vote against Fayemi on July 14. They are on a mission to intimidate teachers and disenfranchise as many of them as possible. Ekiti people will resist them by all means possible. They will fail.

What Ekiti people have already suspected was confirmed by loquacious Adams: that the APC – led Federal government is delaying the release of federal allocation so that Ekiti government will not be able to pay salaries, which they can then use to campaign.

This is wickedness of the highest order. It is man’s inhumanity to man. But what do we expect from a people and government not bothered by the daily shedding of innocent blood under their nose? Has Adams at any time spoken against the murderous herdsmen even when they killed his people in Edo state? Can the government he fraudulently installed in Edo dare what we did in Ekiti to contain the murderous herdsmen? Is it not true that Fayemi has demonstrated his soft spot for the herdsmen through his speeches, actions and inactions?

We sound it loud and clear that we will not abrogate our anti-grazing law in the same way we will resist APC agenda to take Ekiti by force by manipulating the coming election. “Adams himself said it all: He mentioned that Nigerians rejected APC in Osun, Anambra and Bayelsa. He forgot to mention Oyo state as well. In like manner APC will be rejected overwhelmingly by Ekiti people next Saturday.

APC is factionalized right under Adams’ nose. If he does not consider that enough trouble, he will meet his Waterloo in Ekiti come July 14 when Ekiti people will seal his running mouth for him.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 8TH JULY.

THE SPIRIT IN YOU

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19).

In the Old Testament, the children of Israel transported the presence of God from place to place every time they carried the Tabernacle of Witness, which contained the Ark of the Covenant. In 1 Kings 8:9, the Bible tells us specifically that “There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.” The only thing in the ark was God’s commandments.

Today, your heart is the ark of God; that’s where the Word is. Remember what the Lord said in Jeremiah 31:33: “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” This was fulfilled in us when we were born again.

We were born again by the Word of God, and have become one with the Word; we’re living epistles, “written, not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God—not in tables of stone—but in fleshy tables of the heart” (2 Corinthians 3:3). Blessed be God!

You’re now the living ark of testimony and the tabernacle of His presence: “…for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (2 Corinthians 6:16). He dwells in you now. His hands are in your hands, and His legs are in your legs. He walks in you and talks through you. Where you go, God goes. You’re in Him and He’s in you!

Not only are you now in the presence of God, you carry the presence of God. Every time you show up, you come with the presence of God: Christ in you, the hope of glory!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your presence, glory, beauty, aura and perfections in my life. The Holy Spirit, who is your glory, lives in, and operates from the quarters of my heart. Therefore, sickness, disease, and darkness have no place in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 8:10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.

John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

2 Corinthians 3:3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

8TH JULY.

I affirm that the Spirit of God is alive in me, with unlimited power, abilities, and potentials.

There's no limit to what I can do or accomplish in life. My life is programmed for the top! I am not of this world; God has hand-picked me out of the masses, out of the corruptive influence of this world. I am of a different breed; therefore, I refuse to allow the circumstances of my environment color my mindset. I hail from above, and my sufficiency is of God; who had made me an able minister of the New Testament. My life only goes in the direction of God's will and purpose for me; nothing is permitted to happen to me by chance. There are no limitations in my life. My background, my age, the economic situation of the nation in which I live, the color of my skin, educational and financial background etc., will never limit me. Nothing and no one is powerful enough to place a limit on me. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I can accomplish anything, do anything, go anywhere, and be all that God has destined for me to be. The wisdom of God is at work in me, thus, I refuse to struggle like the natural men. In all that I do, I prosper because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!
