Quote:Posted By: Abdulgafar Alabelewe,

Despite the plea by President Muhammadu Buhari while signing the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill, on Nigerian youths not to contest presidential race against him, youths have commenced move to unseat the President come 2019.

The youths however said, they were set to mobilise young Nigerian to actualise ‘young President’ in 2019 and make a national declaration in Abuja to unveil their Presidential candidate for 2019 and fresh people in all positions of power.

Nigerian youths under the auspices of Intellectual Revolution Group (IRG) made this declaration at Arewa House, Kaduna on Saturday while inaugurating its state executives and zonal leadership for the North West zone.

Inaugurating the zonal executive, the National Coordinator of IRG, Salaudeen Lukman said, 2019 must usher in ‘Young President’ with proven record of purpose and determination, adding that “old age politician who have milked our dear nation dry must go to rest and assume advisers role. Its a sin to rule their generation and still be forcing themselves on our generation.

“Our resolve includes mobilizing our teeming youth to form strong ideological political movement that will support ‘Young President’ come 2019.

“We are aware of ‘First Force’, the Assembly of liars and deceivers, like wise the ‘Second Force’ the assembly of looters, suspects on trial for corruption and other criminal related matters, we equally believe that the newly formulated ‘Third Force’ is a gathering of aggrieved First and Second Force, expired political elites who are desperate to kajole Nigerians again to smuggle themselves into power.

“Therefore, we rise to appear as ‘Fresh Force’ with total commitment to birth A New Nigeria. We declare recycling of politicians on position of power unacceptable hence we call for its end.

“Today we have just inaugurated all state executives for the North West States and the zonal leadership, we shall replicate same for other five zones and continue to mobilise young Nigerian to actualise ‘Young President’ come 2019 with national declaration soonest in Abuja to unveil our Presidential candidate for 2019 and fresh people in all positions of power.

The youths leader continued when he said that, “The rating of our dear nation as poorest in the world and incessant killing of innocent citizens by terrorist boko haram and Fulani herdsmen, massive looting of our common wealth and misplacement of our priority is a pointer to note the failure of government of old generation in old Nigeria from their primary responsibility .

“We have observed in the recent the coalition of old retired military personnel who are imposing themselves on Nigerians under the guise of repentant democrats to rule us by force again even when they lack innovative programmes and idea to improve our dear citizenry’s living standard.

“This necessitates our rise as young Nigerians with passion to make Nigeria work again by taking the bull by the horn and champion the course for New Nigeria.

“The new Nigeria of our dream is a great united Nation where Justice, equity, transparency, rule of law and prosperity for all irrespective of religion, tribe or background will be hallmark. We believe it is achievable with commitment of all young Nigerians to this New Nigeria project.

“We are sincerely worried with level of decay in our education, poor economy, obsolete infrastructures, arrogant disobedience of court orders, disrespect for rule of law, unstable power supply, nepotism and favoritism characterized in our dear nation day to day activities of government, the increased in crime rate and uncontrollable rise in number of out of school children including *almajiris* call for holistic rescue of our future.

“It is unfortunate that people who enjoyed free and qualitative education with standard infrastructures in Nigeria those days are the one making education unaffordable for us today.

“We have resolved to step up beyond social media rants, nagging and complains every time, hence we resolved to get to work in the spirit of way forward to take full control of our future, we hereby commence the Run For a New Nigeria”, Lukman said.

The Zonal and state executives however took oath office and were given mandate to go and mobilise youths in their thousands from their respective state for their new course.

Shehu Sani: Recovered Abacha Loot Should Not Be Shared To Poor Nigerians

Quote:MORE reactions has continued trailing the plan by the federal government to disburse the over $300 million fund repatriated from the accounts of former Head of State, late General Sani Abacha in Switzerland to poor Nigerians.

The National Coordinator of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), Nigeria and Special Assistant to the President on Justice Reforms, Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 disclosed the government’s plan to share the funds to poor Nigerians.

Mrs Nwagwu said under the MoU with Switzerland, the money would be paid directly into the accounts of the poorest Nigerians through their various accounts for two years.

The aide stated that this would be done through identification numbers to be made available on the website being developed by the National Social Investment office and the World Bank.

She explained that the agencies working on the modalities would brief the public on June 28, adding that the process for the payment will be transparent for civil society and the media to monitor.

“The poorest members of the community will be registered online, and before you make any payment, they must have an ID number so that every payment would be tracked.

“No amount will be paid out without a joint signature between Nigeria and the World Bank and without identification of individuals.

“If there is anything we have achieved, it’s about getting Nigerian citizens to become conscious about what is happening with their money”, she said.

This move has not gone down well with some Nigerians who protested against the plan.

Those of them on social media have questioned how the government will identify poor Nigerians accusing the government of using this as a way to reloot the funds.

They instead urged the government to divert the funds to develop power sector, fuel and solve other challenges in the country.

Among them is Senator Shehu Sani who represents Kaduna Central at the Senate. For him the disbursement will be impossible as it won’t get to the poorest Nigerians.

Sani who made his opinion known in a tweet on Saturday, suggested that the money should be used to finance a project Nigerians will see with their physical eyes.

“Sharing $350 million recovered loot to 180 million Nigerians is impossible,” Sani said.

“It will end up with beneficiaries whose names will be given by Governors, Ministers, Lawmakers and the President’s men.

“Let it be tied to a project Nigerians can see with their ‘Korokoro eyes’,” Sani opined.

Plateau Killings: External, Internal Forces Against Nigeria - COAS, Buratai Says
User Avatar Forum: Conflicts
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2018, 07:36 PM - No Replies

Quote:Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai said some external forces may be behind the recent violence on the Plateau and in some North-Central States to destabilise the country.

“We’re not ruling out the possibility of external forces destabilising the country,” Buratai declared at a press briefing in Maiduguri on Friday to flag off the 2018 Army Day celebration.

He described the killing on the Plateau as dastard. He said the army has taken steps to prevent escalation of the violence. He said the army was equal to the task of ensuring that nobody is allowed to continue in the violence. “We have deployed more troops as reinforcement.”

He also canvassed for development of long-term solution to some social problems that may have fueled the violence. “We must be thinking of solving some inherent problems that may have caused the crisis,” he counseled.

He said the army decided to hold its celebration in Borno this year to consolidate on the successes recorded in the counterinsurgency operation. He said the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), which commenced yesterday would be used to showcase the combat capability of the army.

“The celebration is to consoli- date our success in the fight against Boko Haram. The situation that was prevailing in this country in 2014 and 2015 was grave. We believe bringing the celebration here will further consolidate our successes. We want to show that the Nigerian Army has lived up to its bidding,” he explained.

He said the Nigerian Army Day Celebration came into being in 1976, adding that the celeberation was a reminder of the sacrifices made by troops of the Nigerian Army to keep the nation together.

Tell Buhari to Face His Responsibility, PDP Advises BMO, ..Says Presidency

Press Statement

Plateau Killing: Tell Buhari to Face His Responsibility, PDP Advises BMO,
..Says Presidency Seeking to Derail Investigations

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the diversionary allegations by Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) that it sponsored the killings in Plateau State as callous, wicked and obtrusive.

The PDP advised the BMO to stop its hallucinations and tell its principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, to live up to the responsibility of his office by stopping the bloodletting and callous murder of innocent citizens in various parts of our country.

The PDP described as unfortunate and highly condemnable that members of the BMO, if truly they are citizens of Nigeria, could seek to politicize the gruesome killings of compatriots in Plateau and other states, instead of confronting President Buhari and charging him to live up to his billing or assisting him in finding solution to the gruesome daily bloodlettings.

The BMO, out of frustration of its inability to further beguile Nigerians into believing that Buhari is our 21st Century Messiah, is resorting to baseless, lame and political accusations against the PDP.

Thus, the BMO has further confirmed the fears of Nigerians that the Buhari administration is groping and has no concrete plans or strategy to apprehend the killers, safeguard the lives of our citizens and protect the territorial integrity of our dear nation.

We, therefore, urge Nigerians to note the desperate, concerted and sustained moves by the Buhari Presidency, as well as, its chorus boys to politicize the killings and engage in utterances that tend to derail investigations, provide cover for culprits and scuttle efforts by security agencies to apprehend those behind the dastardly act.

Nigerians may recall that on June 25, 2018, immediately the news of the Plateau killing broke, the Presidency, before any security investigation, issued a release wherein it attempted to offer explanations on the killings and tried to blame some persons it referred to as ‘locals’.

On Thursday June 28, 2018, while Nigerians were mourning and urging security agencies to track down the killers, the Presidency, without exhibiting any form of empathy to the bereaved, issued yet another statement, attempting to politicize the killings by making morbid comparisons of those killed under various administrations and stating that “wanton killings had been with us for a while”, a comment that tended to weaken the morale of the security officers.

Nigerians may further recall that President Buhari had, in March this year, directed that anybody who attempted to play politics with the handling of security would be dealt with. We now wonder why his presidency and support group have resorted to attempts to politicize the Plateau killings, a development that has raised suspicions that they have something to hide.

The PDP is compelled to urge security agencies to invite the members of the BMO to provide information as principal witnesses to the carnage that have taken place across our nation.

On our part, the PDP will not deter on its stance to continue to speak out against the bloodletting and killings of innocent Nigerians and to, on behalf of the citizens, hold the Buhari administration accountable in the discharge of the duty vested on it to ensure security of lives and property of our citizenry.

Kola Ologbondiyan

Anyone of us holding our phones or reading this could have been a victim just like everyone who was going about their daily activities yesterday on that #OtedolaBridge.

Aren’t you sick of these unending death tolls? I am. I AM SICK. What laws will @akinwunmiambode set to eradicate these tankers on the highway. There are tons of them in Surulere, Apapa and many other places (imagine this happened in Surulere where houses aren’t far of these bridges). Brother @akinwunmiambode edakun, we plead you stop using us for sacrifice and get rid of these tankers.
The massive bus terminal in Ikeja that took millions of Lagosians money that isn’t functioning could have been used to fix a mass of land to contain these tankers. I beg help us sir.   How Inspector Shot, Killed Complainant Over Money (photo)

Quote:By Stanley Ihedigbo

A police inspector narrowly escaped being lynched after he shot and killed a woman who went to the station to report that her driver stole and hid her money in Anambra State.

The deceased, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Emeka (38), of Igbuala Ifite Dunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, suspecting that the driver of her lorry was not making complete delivery, reported the matter to the police.

The policeman, who went with her to effect arrest of the driver, was said to have been searching the lorry with Ebelechukwu, when his rifle, which was corked, exploded and a bullet hit the complainant.

The woman died on the spot. Immediately the policeman realised that he had killed his complainant, he ran into the nearest bush. When youths in the community found him hiding him in the bush, they stripped and almost lynched him.

It was learnt that Ebelechukwu, along with her husband, went to meet their driver, who allegedly refused to make full delivery of money he worked for on that day.

The Chairman of Aborji Youth, Oba Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Uche Ezeani, where the incident occurred, described the matter as an accident.

Ezeani explained that the policeman came with the woman and her husband to collect delivery money from their truck driver, when the incident occurred.

He said: “I heard that the conductor, who works with the driver of the truck Mercedes Benz M119 reported to the couple that the driver used to hide money in the vehicle. When the husband and wife got to where the vehicle was parked, they entered into the lorry to search it.

The inspector, who was armed, also joined them in searching the vehicle for any hidden money. In the process, the gun trigger was touched and a bullet was released. The bullet hit the woman. She was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead.

“I was walking pass when I saw a crowd. As a community leader, it was my duty to find out what was happening. I saw a woman lying on the ground. When I approached them, they told me that a policeman shot the woman. After shooting her, the policeman ran into the nearby bush.

The youth went into the bush and after a while, found and dragged the policeman out. After I heard what really happened, I prevented the youth from touching him. I instructed them to take him to the police station.”

The Chairman, Human Rights Defenders (HRDN), Mr. Dede Uzor Uzor, commended the Oba Aborji executive members led by Nze Dozie Nweke, the youth leader, Mazi Tony Ezeani and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ojoto Police Station for the roles they played after the incident and in calming the restive youth.

He said: “It was a case of a recalcitrant police officer’s inability to properly place his gun in its protective chamber, leading to reckless shooting. If not that the policeman was quickly rescued and given protection, the youth would have lynched him.”

Uzor appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, for discreet investigation over the matter with the hope of bringing the killer to justice.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said the police inspector was attached to Operation Nkpochapu patrol team and was on duty on Owerri-Oba Road, when he accidentally pulled the trigger of his rifle, without applying safety catch.

Nigeria Targets 10% Global LNG Market
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas

Nigeria has revealed a new approach to harness its tremendous gas resources with the aim to capture 10 per cent of the world’s market share in traded Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as part of measures to derive maximum value from its abundant natural gas resources.
Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, disclosed this while addressing the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC) in Washington DC, United States. Speaking at a session on ‘The Role of Gas in Power Generation’ under the theme ‘Fuelling the Future,’ Baru said Nigeria has enormous gas potentials and their huge contributions to the nation’s economy is great.

“We are focused on jumpstarting and sustaining gas supply to support a rapid growth in power generation, re-positioning Nigeria as the regional hub for gas-based industries such as fertilizer, petrochemicals, methanol, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), as well as leveraging our enormous reserves position to strengthen our footprints in high value gas export through LNG and regional gas pipelines,” Baru told delegates at the triennial gas gathering. He said with emerging gas markets and the need to generate more power across Africa’s Sub-Saharan region, there abound an unprecedented investment opportunity in the gas sector for the country. According to the GMD, Nigeria is focused on expanding its existing 22 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) Nigerian LNG plant with additional 8MTPA from its proposed Train 7, a development that will significantly increase global power generation capacity.

Step Down Now Since You Cannot Protect Live And Property Of Nigerians - Okogie Tells
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2018, 01:00 PM - No Replies

[Image: Cardinal-Okogie-President-Buhari.jpg?res...C500&ssl=1]
A former Archbishop of the Catholic Arch Diocese of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has written President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding to know if the president is truly a Nigerian.

Okogie also asked President Buhari to renounce the presidential seat since he has failed to protect lives and property of Nigerians.

The cleric wondered why some All Progressives Congress, APC governors were busy dancing at the Eagles Square, Abuja while Nigerians were being slaughtered like cows in Plateau State last weekend.

He accused the President of deliberately refusing to stop killings perpetrated by Fulani militant, asking him to step down honourably.

The former Archbishop said this in an open letter to Buhari, entitled, “Dear Mr. President, Call a Spade a Spade.”

He said, “Dear Mr. President, we must call spade a spade. You were elected to protect the land and its people but neither is being protected under your watch.

“ You therefore have the most important decision of your career to make. And that decision is this : Are you for Nigerians or not?”

The cleric pointed out that the number of killings so far recorded under the Buhari – led administration showed that the government had failed on security.

He said, “The number ( of Nigerians ) killed under your watch, Mr. President, provides more than convincing evidence that the government you lead has failed to secure our lives. You are the Commander-in -Chief of the Armed Forces.

“If more than three years into your administration, you have been unable to stop these killings, why don’t you seriously consider the option of an honourable renunciation of the presidential seat?

“One of the major factors behind the patent failure of your government is the fact that you are surrounded by men and women who fail to tell you the truth about Nigeria and who shield you from seeing what is happening to the ordinary Nigerians .

“Instead of assisting you in the governance of this country, they insult those whose dissenting opinions you need if you are to succeed.

“How does one explain the fact that under your watch as the Commander – in – Chief, agencies established to maintain law and order, instead of protecting innocent citizens of this country, dissipate their energy running after members of opposing parties? Do you call that democracy?

“No right-thinking person would advocate letting anyone off who has committed a crime. No one is above the law, not even you, Mr. President. That is why the Constitution provides for a process of removing the President.

“That is why the point must also be made that those who contravene the laws of Nigeria be brought to book, irrespective of their political, regional, ethnic or religious affiliation. But the sad reality is: under your watch, that is not what is happening.

“A member of the Miyetti Allah appeared on television, justifying as retaliatory the killings in Plateau State. He was not the first member of the Miyetti Allah to make the statement.

“Nigerians are baffled that he has yet to be arrested. Where were those responsible for our security at a time they were needed most?

“Dear President Buhari, I am compelled to write to you again because, since the bloodshed of the first day of this year, there has been more bloodshed in Zamfara State and in the Middle Belt.

“The latest killings in Plateau State make us wonder: where were you , Mr. President, while innocent lives were being wasted in Plateau State? Where were your service chiefs when babies were being ripped out of their mothers ’ wombs by men who claim to do so because of their cows?

“While all this happened during the national convention of your party , it would be unfair to insinuate that the latest round of killings had anything to do with your party.

“However, it was scandalous that at about the time innocent Nigerians were being slaughtered like cows in Plateau State last weekend, some members of your party were dancing and feasting at your party’s convention in Abuja, while some were throwing chairs at each other, and some others were exchanging blows.

“That , in itself, points to the absence of democracy in your party, as is the case in virtually all the political parties in Nigeria.”

“You described what is going on as a clash between herdsmen and farmers. If the identities of these criminals are not hidden, why has the Nigerian intelligence community , under your watch , failed to prevent them from shedding blood?”

Gang Rape In Enugu Secondary Schools: JSS Students Initiated Into Viron Queens

Quote:*30 JSS students violated, as police arrest 10
*Victims recount grisly gang sex initiation into cults

Ngozi Uwujare

Parents in the South-East city of Enugu are currently overwhelmed with anxiety arising from a recent exposure of widespread cult membership among female students in Junior Secondary School (JSS) classes.

Parents and guardians are especially rattled by the ugly news that young girls were initiated into various confraternities after passing through initiations that involved gang rape and orgies.

The unsavoury facts came to light in the wake of a mass arrest carried out by the anti-cultism squad of Enugu State Police Command, an exercise that netted 10 students of JSS1 and JSS3, aged 14 and 15 years old. Their subsequent confessions indicated a pattern of systematic and continuous rape of over 30 girls during and after their initiation into various confraternities.

Exposed by a whistleblower

Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Danmallam, told Saturday Sun the operation was carried out after the Command received a tip-off that students of several Enugu secondary schools––namely Uwawi Girls Secondary Schools, City Girl Secondary School, Met- ropolitan Secondary Schools, New Layout Secondary School and Urban Girls Secondary School––belonged to various cult groups, especially the Viron Queen Confraternity.

According to Danmallam, the Command got from an informant a 30-name list of JSS students who were allegedly raped and initiated into cult groups.

“Anti-cultism detectives visited Urban Girls Secondary School and Metropolitan Girls Secondary School and arrested 10 of the JSS students on June 20. They are now in custody and had confessed their membership of Viron Queen Confraternity,” Danmallam disclosed.

Some of the students were identifiedasNaomiPeace,15, Ruth Nwoke, 14, Chibuogu Adaeze, 15 and Ujunwa Ede, 14. Others were Chiemerie Olisakure, 15, Akalisi Chisom, 14 and Ogbu Ebere, 14.

Unpalatable details

Details of how the girls were debauched by their abusers were explicitly stated in their confessions. The trio of Edeh, Peace and Nwoke told Saturday Sun they were introduced to the cult by a friend and at their initiation in 2017, were raped each by five different boys. “Our Parents didn’t know we are in the Viron Queen Confraternity,” they said.

Another victim, Adaeze, claimed “We didn’t know they put drugs in the drinks they gave us. From there, we were initiated and raped by six boys.”

Olisakure also added: “We were threatened not to tell anybody or our parents. The irony is that at the closing hour of the school, three of the same boys who initiated us would come with bike and take us away to have sex with us. After that, they give us N1,500, as transport fare.”

Chisom, also raped by five boys, said the incident took place at a friend’s party in a hotel where she first met the boys who introduced her to Viron Queen Confraternity and encouraged her to join. Her subsequent initiation, she claimed, involved several other female students from various schools in the New Layout area of Enugu.

She further alleged, “Some of our teachers know that we are members of Viron Queen Confraternity,” adding that: “We don’t respect our male and female teachers. Some of them used the advantage to sleep with us because we don’t want them to tell our parents. We can identify some of the boys who initiated and raped us and threatened us not to tell our parents. We have informed police officers and we hope they will be arrested”.

Some of the girls confessed to indulging in cigarette smoking and drinking beer at parties or clubs. However, they claimed their parents were not aware they had become cultists. While they heed words of advices from their parents, some of them claimed it was difficult to leave the Viron Queens or White Angels.

“We didn’t know that we are in bondage until the anti-cultism policemen arrested us in the school premises,” said Edeh.

Teachers and parents react

Saturday Sun visited Urban Girls Secondary Schools and met the Principal, Mrs O. Agu who affirmed that they were aware of the arrest of the students by the police but declined to speak any further with the reporter.

“I have a medium through which I channel my information,” she insisted.

One of the teachers who spoke with Saturday Sun on condition of anonymity claimed the arrested students were members of Viron Queens and White Angels confraternities.

“The school has a Department of Guidance and Counseling and a teacher who has been counseling students to stay away from cultism, but some of the students are not ready to change while some have changed and renounced their membership of cult groups,” she asserted.

A parent, Mr Alloy Obi told Saturday Sun: “I have two daughters attending Urban Girls Secondary School. They told me that cultism is rampant among the Junior Secondary School students. I didn’t believe them until I heard about the arrest of the students and their confession to be members of Viron Queens and White Angels.”

He called the development a shame to parents who have failed in their responsibility to know the welfare of their children. Teachers, he affirmed, “have done their best to teach them moral values.” Obi advised school authorities to look into the matter critically with a view to sanitizing the system.

“Schools’ PTAs need to start a campaign against cultism. They have to teach the children the word of God including prayer to deliver them from the power of darkness,” he stated.

In the words of Commissioner of Police Danmallam, the police are still investigating the case. The next phase of action, he added, is detectives going after those who raped and initiated the girls.

Miyetti Allah Slams Fulani Lawmakers For Failing To Protect Herdsmen..
User Avatar Forum: Conflicts
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2018, 10:27 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has lambasted Fulani lawmakers in the National Assembly for failing to protect the interest of herdsmen.

The Secretary-General of the group, Saleh Al-Hassan, said this during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Friday.

He said, “Our elite have failed to protect us. Our National Assembly members that are of Fulani background are just there collecting money. They can’t protect their people. They don’t want to come out to say the truth.”

While insisting that herdsmen don’t bear arms, Al-Hassan said there would not be peace until those who feel cheated are given justice, adding that any attempt to chase them out of the country would fail.

Al-Hassan added, “If you have injustice in the land, you can only end up with negativity. There is nowhere you will find citizens being denied their economic rights and then you expect that there will be peace in that kind of place. What we are saying is give us a share of the land resources in this country.”

He also said herdsmen were the victims of the killings in Plateau and Benue states, saying no one had been brought to book for the killings of Fulani in Plateau State.

He said it was for this reason that the group decided to drag the state government before the ECOWAS court, where he said they were claiming N40bn for the killing of 5,000 herdsmen on the Plateau.

“So, no Berom man should begin to raise any moral justification. They are the ones that don’t want peace,” he added.

Osinbajo Calls For Establishment Of State Police To End Killings..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2018, 10:25 AM - No Replies

Quote:The latest mass killings on the Plateau and the unrelenting spate of kidnappings in parts of the country may have caused the federal government to rethink its opposition to the issue of state police, with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday calling for their establishment.

Osinbajo, who stated this position yesterday in Lagos while delivering a lecture at the special parliamentary session in commemoration of the 3rd Anniversary of the 8th Assembly of Lagos State, contended that state and community policing by locals who understand the terrain and the local languages would no doubt address the problem of insecurity in the country.

Osinbajo made a case for state police to tackle the present security challenges confronting the nation, saying that “local policing is very important as part of our security architecture”.

Although the topic for the lecture was ‘Strengthening Legislative Institutions: Panacea for Eradicating Poverty’, the vice president narrowed the topic down to ‘Stronger State and the Eradication of Poverty.’

As against the general belief that the creation of a conducive environment by the government for business to thrive will check mass poverty, Osinbajo, however, stated categorically that poverty can be eradicated by having strong states with strong judiciary, executive and legislature that would channel the resources of the state to create wealth for the citizens.

“The three arms of government in the states must work proactively for the economic development of its citizens. To achieve this there must be devolution of powers to the states to enable them control their resources”, Osinbajo said.

He cited the great feat achieved by the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who as Premier of the then Western Region recorded achievements that were acknowledged worldwide most of which have endured to this time, relying solely on revenue from taxes and cocoa.

Osinbajo also called for devolution of power and restructuring, but he stated that even without restructuring, it was possible to create a strong state without any major constitutional changes.

He cited how through the collaboration between the three arms of government in Lagos from the reign of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to the present governor, the state has been able to win series of cases at the Supreme Court which have given more powers not only to Lagos State but many other states as well.

According to him, the Lagos Assembly has pushed the frontiers of federalism by passing laws which have strengthened federalism in Nigeria.

He noted that for outstanding economic growth, there is the need to focus on education, healthcare and the provision of jobs through deliberate programmes. According to him, pumping more resources into these sectors will benefit the majority of the citizens.

The vice president stated further that the present government was working round the clock to create an environment for business to thrive, through a micro-credit scheme especially for those at the lower rungs of the economic ladder in order to lift them out of poverty.

In his response, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode commended the leadership of the state Assembly for their team dynamics and infrastructural development within the Assembly.

Bishop Oyedepo: 'Nigeria Not Fulani Republic'

Quote:Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, has once again poured out his heart over the ongoing killings in some parts of the country.

The fiery preacher lamented how people now value cows more that human lives.

Speaking during during one of the church’s programs monitored by our reporter, he fired at the killers and their sponsors, stating that among other things, self-defence is the right of every Nigerian.

His speech below…

We are on the verge of an outburst. This Islamists are not relenting. And cursed be anyone from any quarters backing these wanton killings in Nigeria. Cursed be their roots and their generations.

Not one herdsman has been accosted. Even when they were brutal enough to announce. They are poised for war but it will be in their own house. Everybody, whether in government or out of government, any demonic agent that’s after the destruction of this nation, the Lord God destroy them and their household.

Eleven villages were sacked in Plateau and by now since this their callous acts started, 52 villages are empty….when there is no war! Cursed be all forces behind this wanton killings!

If I be a man of God, let the fire of divine vengeance fall upon their head! Join in this warfare prayer, they won’t know where the war is coming from but they won’t wake up in the morning…and the Christians are their targets. In the name of Jesus, divine vengeance will target them and bring them down.

We are told from the News that ISIS has found their way to Nigeria. Whatever channel they came from, they will return from that same channel. The Angels of God will fight all the enemies of this nation. War shall not break out in Nigeria, it will break out in their own houses and take them off one by one. Curse these operators and their backers, curse them in the name of the Lord.

Nigeria is not a Fulani republic, let every devil be concerned. I will never become one. We didn’t sign a deal to live together as a Fulani Republic. Everybody that carries that thought and wants to implement it, the power of God will bring them down. Now in Nigeria, cows are more valuable than human lives. Authority claims they haven’t found anybody to claim responsibility when it was announced.

By the blood of Jesus, every manipulator behind this killing, the Lord brings them down!

Do you pray for witches or against witches?

Do you pray for armed robbers or against armed robbers?

Know what to pray against.

The present system must be prayed against…and God will bring them down.

Is cattle business government business?

If everybody whose shop is robbed goes about killing people, will it be taken?

Don’t let anybody take you for a ride. Self Defence is entrenched in the constitution. Give it what it takes to show that you’re not a dummy.

I am ordained a shepherd over a generation. I have a commitment to please God. Don’t let any devil take you for a ride.

Somebody announced that ‘we killed them and we will still kill them’ and they have not picked them up. What?!!!! Can’t you tell who is behind it?

Well, we are set. We are set. We will engage the full force of our spiritual authority.

The saints Must be preserved. The atrocities in Benue, vengeance will answer. The atrocities in Plateau, in Adamawa, Southern Kaduna, judgement will answer…but if you think you will proceed any further, except God has left Heaven, we are in it together.

Curse be every agent of the devil out to destabilize our country. Curse be every agent of the devil out to slaughter the saints. You went to Church and killed people and they have not found anyone?

Some will not wake up tomorrow morning. Many of them will not wake up tomorrow morning’.

This morning, the Bishop of one of the largest churches in Nigeria continued his onslaught.

‘I saw children sliced. The United Nations Youth have just written to ask for immediate intervention in this genocide. You don’t know the meaning?

Now wait a minute! All the security apparatus in Plateau, even the commissioner has just been removed and a Muslim put there. They are bent on genocide. They are bent on destruction of lives. Some fellows came and were cursing Elisha. He cursed them in the name of the Lord and two she bears came out of the wood and destroyed them. Lord destroy the destroyers. Trouble these troublers, let their hiding places be unveiled. Let your judgement catch up with them.

Let your curse locate them.

We occupy a strategic position in the kingdom in this nation. Let the Almighty God destroy the destroyers, destroy their household, destroy their generation. Let them be out of existence. Remove their remembrance from the earth. In the name of Jesus.

Curse them in the spirit.

The GOC is Muslim. The new Commissioner of Police posted yesterday is Muslim. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration is Muslim, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State C.I.D is Muslim. They are bent! These demonic devilish people are bent. Now in the name of Jesus, the curse of the Lord catches up with them. We are not strangers in Nigeria. You are strangers! You don’t dare a people like this! Father, honour the words of your prophet and let judgement catch up with them. Let their roots dry up. Let the blood of these innocent children, pregnant women, let the blood of these innocent believers, Christians in their homeland been slaughtered by these wicked men, let the blood of these individuals be avenged upon them.

Nigeria shall not become Syria. Any devil planning it, the God that I serve will hit at them. Now, God is angry with the wicked everyday.

Any pastor, any believer that is happy with the wicked is an ungodly man. Any man! I don’t care the office you hold. You are not angry with what God is angry with means you are a bastard!

Jesus, every sellout in your body, let it be met with judgement.

Christians are complaining of being killed by Muslims and Muslim security officers are sent to referee it. What an insensitive devil!

Christians are complaining about the assassination of Christians and then Muslims are now sent to go and oversee without a Christian input. Insensitive devils!

My spirit is angry, the calling on my life is angry.

You shall not make away with it!

You don’t need permission to hit back at a robber, Christians come awake! You are not dummies, come awake!

Government is not by a group of people, it is government for the people, by the people. Let there be no sympathizer with these wicked people in this church or else the curses we release will touch them.

If your baby is slaughtered, sliced, will you be hanging around like that?

These wicked men are trying to test the ground to see how many places they can get to. You dare any further, you will be resisted with the forces of vengeance.

Let all media people carry it. This is the voice of the Lord for the hour. The anger of the Lord is against the wicked and it shall land on their heads,’ Bishop Oyedepo concluded.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 30TH JUNE

AN END TO ALL PENANCE.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice (Genesis 22:18).

God chose Israel as a nation and blessed them. However, every year, the priest had to atone for their sins; an animal had to be killed on behalf of the people. The priest will lay his hands on the animal and confess the sins of the nation upon it; this was a yearly routine. Think about that!

But over in the New Testament, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ was God’s spiritual Lamb and He didn’t just take the sins of Israel, but the sins of the whole world (John 1:29). He was God’s perfect sacrifice that settled the problem of sin forever. Today, no one needs to kill any animal in atonement for sin.

Hebrews 7:26-27, referring to Jesus says, “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.” Also, in Hebrews 9:26, we read, “For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”

In some parts of the world, there’re certain religions where people punish themselves for their sins; they whip themselves and lacerate their skin as penance for their sins. In some instances, the people are laid on a platform with protruding nails, piercing through their flesh with blood gushing out.
They believe this would atone for their sins. How sad!
O, that the world would know Jesus and all that He accomplished for humanity! Jesus ended all of such penance. The Bible says there remains no more sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10:26). You don’t need to go through self-torture or self-recrimination because of your sins; Jesus already paid the full penalty for the sins of all men. This is the message of the Gospel! Christ Jesus paid it all!

God’s not counting or holding your sins against you, because of Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:19). Jesus already bore the punishment and consequences for all your sins. Therefore, serve Him with your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the Lamb of God that was slain for the sins of the whole world. And now, on the basis of Jesus’ glorious resurrection, I’ve received eternal life; I live in righteousness, victory, health, and all the blessings of Christ. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Isaiah 53:5-6 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Hebrews 9:26-28 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

30TH JUNE.

I affirm that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus, holy and sanctified unto the Lord! I am a partaker of the divine nature, expressing and manifesting the life of Christ in righteousness, excellence, glory, wisdom, and power! I reign by grace today, through righteousness, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death and its debilitating influences. Halleluiah! I know who I am! I’m the effulgence of God’s glory; the radiance of His grace and beauty! I walk in the light of God’s glory today, manifesting His righteousness, and unveiling His wisdom that’s inherent in my spirit. I am different; the anointing of the Holy Spirit is in, and on me to do that which is humanly impossible, and bring in new ideas and innovations that will transform the lives of millions around the world positively. I’ve been granted divine insight, wisdom, and grace to make great things happen for others. I carry in my heart the divine attributes of divinity, and I bless my world today, with the grace and glory of God which I carry. Hallelujah The word of faith is in my heart, and in my mouth; that’s the Word of faith by which I live. I speak the same things in consent with the Word: I am victorious, prosperous, healthy, marvelously helped and favored of the Lord today. Glory to God.

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

• Be bold to say the same things that God has said concerning you in His Word. That is what takes you beyond salvation, to enjoy the benefits of salvation ~ Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

God bless you.

Buhari’s Incompetence Responsible for FAAC Deadlock:PDP
User Avatar Forum: Politics

June 29, 2018

Press Statement

Buhari’s Incompetence Responsible for FAAC Deadlock

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari’s incompetence is directly responsible for the deadlock at the Federal Accounts and Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting for which workers now risk losing their June salaries.

The party notes that the entire problem at FAAC stems from the fact that President Buhari abdicated his duties and opened the door for heavy sleazes and looting of funds in the oil and gas sector by his cronies and cabal in the Presidency.

It is incontrovertible that government’s major financial earning figures could not tally at the meeting because of the sleazes in Buhari’s administration that have been left unchecked.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, by asking the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to account for the missing money, is merely seeking for a scapegoat, as the buck stops at President Buhari’s table as the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Mr President appropriated the office of the minister of petroleum and refused all wise counsel to quit the office for a more competent hand. He therefore cannot attempt to shift blames to others where he had overtly failed.

Nigerians will recall that the PDP had forewarned of stealing, sharp practices and sleazy subsidy deals going on in the Buhari-led petroleum sector which the Presidency had always swept under the carpet. Today, the truth lies bare for all to see.

Our take as a party is that Nigerian workers must not be made to further suffer because of President Buhari’s manifest incompetence and the humongous corruption going on in the petroleum sector under his supervision.

The nation is already overburdened by the mass poverty, hunger and starvation caused by the misrule of this administration and we reject any attempt to worsen the situation by President Buhari, who enjoys the comfort of the Aso Villa.

Air Peace, Apostle Suleman dismiss prophesy of impending accident as fake
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 09:04 PM - No Replies

FOLLOWING a widely circulated whatsapp voice recording prophesing impending doom on the roads and in the air allegedly ascribed to the leader of Omega Fire Ministries’ Apostle Suleman; both Air Peace and Omega Fire Ministries have dismissed the trending recorded voice message with the airline describing the message as an attempt to demarket the highly sought after brand.

The message came to limelight a few days ago and started trending on Whatsapp and other social media channels warning members of the public of unpleasant consequences if they patronised some transport companies, including the carrier, on certain days.

A statement issued by Air Peace Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah said the voice message was the handiwork of fraudsters disguising as the renowned leader of Omega Fire Ministries to spread fear and demarket the airline.

He confirmed that the airline contacted the church allegedly behind the recorded voice message and the latter dismissed the warning as a product of fraudsters and impostors seeking to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to a recorded voice message currently trending on social media warning members of the public not to patronise some land and air transport companies, including Air Peace. While we would have loved to ignore the message so as not to dignify those behind the voice message, we are compelled by the greater need to assure members of the public and our esteemed guests that it is a fake warning put out in the public space by
criminal elements and people who do not mean well for Nigeria to spread fear and demarket Air Peace.

“The recorded warning has become a recurring but futile and unproductive strategy by these unpatriotic individuals to dissuade members of the flying public from patronising Air Peace.
Indeed, three years ago, the same faceless individuals recorded a similar message and started contacting us through fronts to make available huge amounts to them to avert the claimed looming danger. Of course, we refused to yield to their threats and the dates they mentioned came without a single incident or accident.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we contacted Omega Fire Ministries, alleged to be the source of the trending voice message, and they vehemently denied that the leader of the renowned ministry said any thing of such, let alone recorded any message where Air Peace was mentioned or the warning was issued. The leader of the church has since debunked the warning through his verified Twitter account, @APOSTLESULEMAN.

“We, therefore, wish to reassure our valued guests and members of the general public that Air Peace is absolutely safe and operating strictly in line with global best practices in the aviation industry. The voice warning should be entirely ignored as it is a product of those who have deliberately put themselves at odds with our success with a view to demarketing us and making money out of their criminal act,” Air Peace said.

'Buhari Records More Achievements In South East Than PDP' – Lai Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 05:09 PM - No Replies

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says President Muhammadu Buhari led administration recorded greater achievements in the South-east than the 16 years government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The minister said this on Wednesday in Aba, while inspecting the Enugu-Port Harcourt dual carriage way reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The minister, who inspected the project with a team of journalists, said that in three years, “the Buhari government can lay claim to many completed and ongoing infrastructure development in the south east.’’

Specifically, he said the strategic Enugu-Port Harcourt road in the region was awarded by the PDP administration in 2014 but abandoned due to no cash backing.

Mr Mohammed said upon assumption of office, the Buhari administration had funded the project to over 50 per cent completion.

“The Enugu-Port Harcourt dual carriage way is a major route in the South-east and the major towns along the route are, Enugu Okigwe, Umuahia, Aba and Port Harcourt.

“The traffic volume generated on the road spanning a total length of 118km is very high.

“The road had suffered various deformations and distress in the form of slippage, rutting, fatigue, edge crack, and portholes.

“The road had become almost impassable until this administration came to the rescue

“Yet, the naysayers have painted the administration as have not done anything for the south east zone,’’ he said.

Mr Mohammed stressed that the 16 years of PDP in power was a waste to the south east region contrary to what the naysayers were saying.

The minister also justified his claim with the progress made by the Buhari’s administration on the second Niger Bridge also awarded by PDP government but not funded.

He said the Buhari administration had sustained funding of the second Niger bridge project to near completion.

“In 16 years, what did the PDP do on the Enugu-Port Harcourt road and the second Niger Bridge?

“Everything that we saw today is what this administration has achieved, yet some politicians are so fraudulent they sit in Abuja and accuse the administration of not doing anything for the south east.

“From what you have seen, you will see that this administration has done so much for this zone. We can now see that some people are just misinforming the public,’’ he said

The minister called on politicians to make statements of facts on the achievements of the administration rather than politicising the progress recorded.

The Federal Controller of Works, Enugu state, Oyekanmi Olufemi said the Enugu-Port Harcourt road was divided into four sections and each awarded to different contractors.

He said the Enugu to Lokpanta section was awarded to Messrs CGC construction Ltd, while the Lokpanta to Umuahia Tower was awarded to Messrs Setraco Nig. Ltd.

Mr Olufemi said that the Umuahia Tower to Aba section was awarded to Messrs Arab Contractors, while Messrs CCEC Construction firm was handling the Aba to Port Harcourt section

“The contract was awarded in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in the sum of N32 billion

“But unfortunately, money that was supposed to be paid to the contractors which is 15 per cent of the contract sum, N4 billion, was a major challenge.

“As at 2015, the amount given to the contractors was only N100 million, with that they could not start.

“The new government came in and the first budget of the new government was in 2016, funding started in earnest.

“As I speak with you today, the advance payment of N4.08 billion has fully been paid by this government and the contractor has done a lot of work since they mobilised to sites,’’ he said.

The minister inspected the four sections of the road and expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far.

World Cup 2018: FIFA To Pay Super Eagles £6.1 Million After Crashing Out
User Avatar Forum: Sports World

By John Owen Nwachukwu

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and other teams that crashed out on the group stages of the 2018 World Cup will be paid only £6.1 million each by the football governing body, FIFA.

Nigeria would have received £9.1 million if the match against Argentina ended in their favour.

This is because any team eliminated from the round of 16 stage will receive £9.1million.
The World Cup winning team will receive £28 million in prize money from FIFA, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams receiving £21million, £18million and £16million respectively.

This means that for the World Cup winners, each player in the 23 man squad would pocket £1.2million.

The 32 teams were also given £1.1million each to prepare for the tournament.

The struggle to be a part of the beard gang is real.

Men are now fixing artificial beards to have fuller beards and sideburns.

Fake beards isnt really a new thing but the method of fixing this one is what has people talking about it. And the end result looks so real, it's hard to tell it isn't the real deal.

Comedian Lil Duval exposed this new trend on Instagram and people have differing opinions about it. Some men have said if women can go about with fake hair and nails then men should also be allowed to have fake beards.

Police brutality, extortion now at frightening level – CJN

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, has directed that Chief Magistrates should periodically inspect police stations and other detention centres in their domains, to curb growing level of citizens’ maltreatment by police and other security agencies.

This followed what he described as the “frightening proportions” of “horrific incidents of police brutality, inordinate arrest, detention and extortion of innocent Nigerians by officers across the country,” in recent time.

The Special Assistant to the CJN on Media, Mr. Awassam Bassey, stated this in a statement on Thursday.

Justice Onnoghen’s directive is said to be in a ‘Practice Direction on the Role of Magistrates in Curbing Police Brutality’ issued on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in line with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

The directive is to be conveyed to the Chief Magistrates through their respective Chief Judges in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

An excerpt of the practice direction quoted in Bassey’s statement on Thursday, read, “The Chief Judge of every state of the nation, including the Federal Capital Territory, shall direct Chief Magistrates, and, where there is no Chief Magistrate within the Police Division, designate any Magistrate for that purpose, to, at least, every month, conduct an inspection of police stations or other places of detention within his territorial jurisdiction other than prison.

“The Chief Judge of every state of the nation, including the Federal Capital Territory, shall put in place appropriate mechanisms to ensure compliance with the above provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.”

Nigeria’s solid mineral revenue hits N262b in nine years
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 02:15 PM - No Replies

Total revenue from the solid mineral sector in Nigeria in the past nine years stands at about N262 billion, maintaining a slow rise from N8.1 billion in 2007 to N65.7 billion in 2015.

Analysis of data provided in the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) audit dashboard showed that the country’s revenue from the sector in 2008 stood at N9.5 billion and moved to N19.4 billion in 2009. In 2010, the figure declined to N17.3 billion but moved to N26.9 billion, N31.4 billion, N33.8 billion in 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively. In 2014, the revenue went to N49.6 billion before hitting N65.7 billion in 2015.

However, while the total royalty earned for the period under review stood at N7.4 billion, the total metric tons of solid mineral produced in the country stood at about 330 million metric tons with contributions from limestones hovering at 54.5 per cent of the total production.

According to the report, production of solid mineral reached the peak in 2014, when the country produced about 47 million metric tons of solid mineral while the lowest production was recorded in 2007, when the country produced about 13 million metric tons of solid minerals.

Though Nigeria is blessed with numbers of solid minerals, including coal, lignite and Coke, gold, columbite wolframite and tantalite, bitumen, iron Ore, uranium, mining of minerals only accounts for 0.5 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a situation blamed on the influence of vast oil resources.

Chief Executive Officer, EPINA Technologies Limited, Prof. Eguakhide Oaikhinan, noted that while the sector could add as much as $50 billion (about N15.3 trillion) to the nation’s GDP by climbing from 0.5 per cent to 10 per cent growth, government has been insensitive to the call for the overhaul of the sector.

“Everybody seems to be concerned with oil or the mining of the minerals. In the raw state, these mined minerals sell at very low prices but when characterised and processed, it could have very competitive market value for the country,” he noted.

While the Advisory Partner and Mining Leader at Pricewaterhousecoopers (PwC) Nigeria, Cyril Azobu, told The Guardian that Nigeria is a fast evolving mining jurisdiction, he insisted that the sector could contribute much more given that most of the country’s rich solid minerals endowment remain largely untapped.

He noted that the lack of proper policy in the sector remained a basic challenges there must be tackled if desired objective would be achieved in the sector.

Azobu said: “There has over the years been a preponderance of largely informal operations fraught with the use of crude equipment and extremely dangerous working practices because of the absence of a formal policy on artisanal mining.

“We have a situation where for a very long time the solid minerals sector was neglected by the government. The agriculture sector also suffered from this neglect. Because of this, the sector has remained underdeveloped with no real structures put in place by successive governments to unlock its potential.”

Airlines retain ticket rates amid end to 5% VAT

Air travellers expecting marginal review of fares following the recent removal of mandatory five per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on transportation may have to wait longer.

Airlines operators, who though lauded the gesture, saw the development as more of compensation to the airlines that are over burdened by multiple charges, than gains to the passengers that have “usually been flying low-cost”.

A cross-check of the airlines’ booking platforms yesterday, about a week after the VAT suspension policy went public, showed that the airlines largely retained same rates as of a week before.

Except Arik Air that has lately introduced a super and smart saver promo, other airlines retained an average fare of between N24, 000 to N28, 000 Economy Class ticket for Lagos-Abuja flight of 24 hours away.

Arik Air, last Friday, introduced the ‘Now everyone can fly promo’ to all destinations, with tickets of N16, 000 and N18, 500 for seven and four days advanced booking, in that order.

Spokesperson of the airline, Banji Ola, confirmed the special offer, but with a condition that the tickets are available at the time of booking.

Dana Air Media and Communications Manager, Kingsley Ezenwa, told The Guardian that the airline would be more than happy to plough back the gains of VAT cancellation to the business and ticket fares subsidy, but may not happen soon.

Ezenwa noted that the expected gains are subject to actual implementation of the policy and the review of other multiple charges in the aviation industry.
He said: “Let us not forget that the reason some airlines charge so exorbitantly is the multiple charges that include VAT, high cost of aviation fuel and so on. Once these come down, the sector will surely be the better for it.
“We at Dana Air have a policy of low fares for our customers, though very difficult to operate. So, reductions in charges are opportunities to reinevest in our operations and further push the gains to our customers. We may not see these in the immediate but surely in the long-run,” Ezenwa said.

Apparently in agreement, Secretary General of the Aviation Safety Round-table Initiative (ASRTI), Group Captain John Ojikutu (rtd), said it is difficult to see the rationale for cheaper fares just yet.

Ojikutu raises some questions: “Does it make sense to reduce ticket fares by about N4,000 because of just N1,000 VAT grace from government? I think these airlines can never get commercial aviation right.

“What sense is there in still selling tickets to Abuja at N25K ($70) or N18K ($50) when fuel and dollar prices have increased by 30 per cent and 100 per cent respectively? The truth is hiding somewhere between them and the government officials.

“Government says, the VAT is charged on passengers not on airlines, that makes sense if passengers tickets would still be charged five per cent; but would the airlines be faithful in collecting the TSC for government? What assurances are there that airlines would render the correct figures of passengers traffic and tickets earnings on the BSP platform?”

Exchange admits N1.2 trillion government bonds in six months
User Avatar Forum: Financial Institutions

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has admitted about N1.21 trillion worth of Federal Government’s new supplementary issuances in its daily official list in the first six month of 2018.

The new issuances, which was contained in the NSE X-Compliance Report as at June 22, 2018, comprising FGN Savings Bond; Supplementary listing/reopening at 14.50 per cent of the FGN March 2018 to July 2021; and matured 10.70 per cent FGN May 2018, among others.

Analysts said that the issuance of bonds, no doubt, will bring both local and foreign investors into the market and will step up government’s efforts to raise the funds needed for infrastructure development, among other projects.

According to them, with government’s economic reforms, prospects were high for the sustained development of the Nigerian bond market, as a tool for deepening the domestic capital market.

For instance, analysts at Afrinvest Limited noted that the performance of the bond market has been shaped by recent happenings in the domestic and global market space.

“On the global front, the key factors are the recent rate hike by the U.S. Fed for the second time this year, to a range of 1.75 to two per cent, which has further strengthened the dollar and stoked capital flow reversal from emerging markets.

“On the domestic front, the current Federal Government’s debt strategy, which is tilted towards reducing the proportion of domestic borrowings in favor of foreign debt sources, as well as falling headline inflation, has shaped investors’ decisions,” they noted.

Specifically, the nation’s bourse listed a total amount of N1.23 billion FGN Savings Bond as at June 22, 2018, with a total of N415.91 billion of supplementary listing/reopening for different coupon and year and a total of N200.33 billion new listing, which comprises the Sukuk Bond, while a total of N300 billion for the matured 10.7 per cent FGN May 2018 were also listed on NSE.

FGN bonds are debt securities of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) issued by the Debt Management Office (DMO) for and on behalf of the sovereign state, with an obligation to pay the bondholder the principal and agreed interest as and when due.

The FGN Bonds are considered as the safest of all investments in domestic debt market because it is backed by the “full faith and credit” of the Federal Government and as such, classified as a risk free debt instrument.

It has no default risk, meaning that it is absolutely certain that investors’ interest and principal will be paid as and when due, even as the interest income earned from the securities is tax exempt.

The Director-General of the Debt Management Office (DMO), Ms. Patience Oniha, recently said government would be listing some of the securities that were issued in the international capital market, adding that government recognised the role of the capital market in developing the economy.

Oniha affirmed that government accessed the international capital markets four times in 2017, and amid uncertainty about the perception of Nigeria, was well met by investors with overwhelming success in each offering.

She stated that funding the budget deficit and refinancing the inherited debt portfolio have been the key drivers behind the capital raising plans and will lead to significant benefits, particularly a reduction in cost of funds, noting that the Diaspora bond provided an opportunity for Nigerians overseas to contribute to the development of the nation.

She said that funds raised would be applied towards developing key infrastructure, with proceeds to be used for budgeted capital expenditure, as well as support the drive towards economic diversification.

The President of the Council of NSE, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, said: “We collaborated with the FGN through the DMO to launch the FGN Savings Bond. It is aimed at boosting the savings culture among retail investors.

NNPC Wants Review Of Deep Offshore Royalty
June 29, 2018  NEW

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) wants the National Assembly to hasten the amendment of royalty rates for oil gotten from deep offshore sources.

Responding to the publication of Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) accrued to the country between the third quarter of 2015 and third quarter of 2017, which was released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, Upstream, Bello Rabiu, told TheGuardian that amendments to the deep offshore and inland basin production sharing contracts act of 1993 are welcome and needed.

He also proposed some needed changes to the National Assembly.

“It is our opinion that the proposal to increase the royalty rate for terrains beyond 1000 metres, from zero per cent to three per cent, is commendable but it is necessary to also make corresponding adjustments in other categories," Rabiu said, adding that the incentives in PSC’s have outleaved their usefulness.

“It is our opinion that these incentives have outlived their usefulness and are now impediments to the Federal Government’s revenue collection efforts. The use of such incentives can be terminated by an amendment of section 4 of the Act."

According to the report from CBN, the government received N495.39 billion as PPT/royalties in third quarter of 2015. During the first quarter of 2016, the government earned lower at N314.04 billion. The next quarter saw a further drop in revenue to N212.78 billion. In the third quarter of 2016, there was an increased to N392.38 billion. and another decrease to N273.13 billion in Q4 2016.

The year 2017, which was the beginning of the OPEC plus alliance saw revenues rise to N325.38 billion in the first quarter. There was a slight lessening in Q2 to N320.49 billion. The third quarter of Q2 rose to Q3 2015 heights at N489.41 billion. CBN said N103.46 billion was put into the 13 per cent Derivation Fund for distribution among the oil producing states.

In all, the government made N3.211 trillion from PPT/royalties in the quarters under review.

NNPC says it has received permission to review the terms of the production sharing contracts, which regulate the drilling of oil offshore. Rabiu called on the National Assembly to seek relevant input from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, to determine the most suitable opinions regarding the methodology for the computation of taxes in view of the proposed royalty regime.

Rabiu also wants the Minister of Petroleum Tesources to be able to fix royalty rates according to specified economic indicators.

Saraki’s Wife ‘Denounces Nigerian Nationality’ Amid Husband’s Probe By Seychelles

Amid the probe of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over alleged ownership of some offshore assets by the Seychelles Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), his wife Mrs Toyin Saraki has reportedly denounced her Nigerian citizenship.

The Seychelles Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is investigating Mr Saraki’s alleged multi-million assets acquisition through offshore shell companies in tax havens following revelations in the controversial 2016 Panama papers investigation.
According to Premium Times, the Senate President’s wife has submitted documents to show that she is a British citizen and not a Nigerian as Seychelles FIU intensifies investigation to find out if she is covering up offshore assets owned by her husband by fronting for him.
The report said in effort to prove her British nationality, Mrs Saraki made her British passport available to the firm which carried out Panama papers investigation, Mossack Fonseca, for onward transfer to Seychelles FIU to aide their investigation.
If found that Mr. Saraki owns assets purchased through a company reportedly registered under his name in Seychelles (Sandon Developments Ltd), it would be a contravention of the country’s code of conduct for public office holders.

The newspaper also reports that in order to conceal her identity as the beneficial owner of the company in question; the Senate President’s wife had previously used one Gudson Limited and Roselle Limited as nominee directors during its registration.

$322m Abacha Loot: List Of States To Receive Cash In July
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 12:26 PM - No Replies

The Federal Government says it will commence disbursement of the recovered 322 million dollars Abacha loot through Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) to 302,000 poor households in 19 states in July.

Tukur Rumar, of the National Cash Transfer Office (NTCO), disclosed this at a roundtable on assets recovery organised by the Swiss Embassy on Thursday, in Abuja.

The states include: Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Cross River, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarrawa, Anambra and Internally Displaced Persons Camps (IDPs) in Borno.

According to Rumar, the benefiting households will receive N5,000 monthly.

Mr Iorwa Apera, the National Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), said 503,055 households were already on the NSR register from the 19 states, adding that by July, there would be a social register for all the states of the federation.

“The Federal Government would begin with those states, because they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NASSCO to put in place certain infrastructure to empower the national register.

“Some of the states delayed, but the other ones were quick enough to set up infrastructure that allowed us to start work there, but all the states are now on board as they have set up their state operating offices and donated office equipment to us.

“As states come on board, we enroll and so they extend to the beneficiary register, and presently we are generating data in all the states now,’’ he said.

These set of youths live lavishly, wear the latest designers, drive exotic cars and are celebrated often, but they mostly don’t have a legitimate source of income.
Most of these guys started with the usual ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ (Scamming white people), but it seems that isn’t just enough and they want it all, so they go through the dark route.

Some call it ‘Yahoo Plus’ Just recently, 14 Yahoo Boys were caught in the Ajah and Lekki Areas of Lagos by the EFCC, they were arrested and paraded after a tip off about their lavish lifestyle, but no legitimate source of income to back it up.

The were arrested with Luxury cars, Exotic laptops and Charms. The increase in devilish rituals explored by Yahoo boys in their chase for money is becoming rampant

Tough challenges in getting a regular ‘Maga’ to fund their lust for luxury and an extra comfortable life has encouraged them to give the fear-inspiring medium called Yahoo Plusa try.

Unfortunately, the occultic saviour offering financial upliftment has required ‘internet fraudsters’ to submit to jaw-dropping evil actions in their paper chase.

We have compiled a list of things fetish wealth seekers have done to get money.

See what Yahoo boys now do in order to keep making money since Yahoo no longer pays without going extra miles.

1. Eating Human Faeces
[Image: yahoo_shit_sheet_fea_E5dQf.jpg]

They eat it with bread in form of a sandwich Eeeew!!! That is a likely response when the idea of eating bread sandwiched with human faeces is considered but not to some Yahoo Boys.

A lady once overheard her ex-boyfriend in a conversation with pal who listened to him narrate his experience while eating the mixture which is believed to be one of the rights he needed to fulfill in a quest for money.

This is however minor compared to the next example.

2. Barking Once A Month As Part Of Money Ritual
[Image: man-barking087yrud.jpg]

A viral video of a Yahoo Boy captured as he barked like a dog for the purpose of money ritual is another cause for concern.

While his friends laughed at him in a living room, he continuously made sounds that resembled the animal. A feature that may make one wonder if he indeed is a dog.

The friends seemed unbothered as they laughed and cheered in the background. “Owo De” which means “Money has come”, can be heard in the background while the young man barked.

3. ‘Oshole’, The Power Of Compulsion
[Image: yahoo-boys-juju-700x433.jpg]

The craft of a ‘Babalawo’, a pastor or a cleric, has helped some internet fraudster who patronise Yahoo Plus can help deliver to the money lovers the power to command a ‘client’ (person scammed) to their bidding.

This is an opportunity to cop some huge stash of American Dollars.

4. Wiping A Lady’s V*gina With Towel After Sex
[Image: yahoo-boys-700x434.jpg]

It has been rumoured that some ladies in Nigeria are walking dead following encounters with youths who have looked to Yahoo Plus for money.

By wiping moisture from a woman’s v$gina after sex, it is believed that a wealth seeker is able to get what is desired after using the material in a ritual performed by a ‘Babalawo’ or any fetish lord.

5. Killing One’s Nephew For Money Rituals
[Image: yahirhfj-700x375.jpg]

This is not a particular trend but a man’s weakness killing his older sister’s son for the purpose of Yahoo Plus.

Tunde Owolabi, also known as ‘Money Talks’, was captured in handcuffs as he crouched beside the corpse of a little boy reportedly 7 years old.

The image was provided in a post shared by Odueko Olumide John who expressed shock concerning the incident.

A grave-looking Owolabi had a look of intent as he tilted his neck sideways as if paying attention to a more serious reality.

There has been recent talk about Yahoo Boys on Social with many dismissing as robbers and others defending them.

Many More are unheard of but these are the ones the internet has seen.

The End!!!

@APROKOGIRL

Peter Obi, ex-governor of Anambra State has debunked report that he will be running mate to former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku Abubakar is an aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election.

In a statement, Valentine Obienyem, media aide to Peter Obi, described the report making the rounds as mere speculation.

“When I read the news in the papers and on social media, knowing fully that no presidential candidate has discussed such issue with him otherwise I should have known. When I saw the news, I exclaimed, ‘Who is the author of this mischief?

“I immediately brought the news to the attention of my boss who is rounding off his speaking engagements in U.K. and the USA and he was equally surprised that such speculation should be on at this time, when the pre-occupation of all Nigerians should be how to end the killings in parts of the country and return the country back to sanity,” he said.

Obienyem added that the PDP at the moment was preoccupied with rebranding and producing a formidable flagbearer, not who would be running mate.

A woman was shell shocked after a cooking tragedy was averted. It was revealed that the woman found a lizard in her food while preparing the sumptuous meal for her family. No one knows what would have eventually happened to her and her family had they eaten the meal with the little reptile mixed in the pot of soup.

The woman has now called for caution among other women to be careful when cooking to avert this kind of unpleasant situation.

Below is what she wrote;

" God saved my life.I finished cooking my seed sauce. I had to crush the condiments now. By the time I mixed the sauce I see a lizard (Salamander) in my sauce. When I think my whole family would die that day because of me. I throw a call to all women to be careful when they cook "

$322m Abacha Loot: FG Begins Cash Transfer To Poor Homes..
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 09:49 AM - No Replies

Quote:The federal government says it will commence disbursement of the recovered $322 million Abacha loot through Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) to 302,000 poor households in 19 states in July.

Tukur Rumar of the National Cash Transfer Office (NTCO), said this at a roundtable on assets recovery organised by the Swiss Embassy on Thursday, in Abuja.

The event was organised to intimate citizens and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the efforts both nations were making on asset recovery after the Post-Global Forum on Assets Recovery (GFAR) held in Washington D.C. in December 2017.

At the forum, Nigeria made commendable commitments on beneficial ownership, tax transparency, asset recovery, transparency management of recovered funds and payments to victims of corruption.

The states are: Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Cross River, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, Anambra and Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) in Borno.

According to Mr Rumar, the benefiting households will receive N5,000 monthly and are derived from the National Social Register (NSR) that the 19 states are already on.

He said the programme was designed to also train beneficiaries on livelihood skills, social skills and other programmes that would change their lives completely.
Mr Rumar, however, said NCTO had been making payments to the 46,000 poor and vulnerable households across the 19 states since December 2016, adding that the number had increased to 290,000.

Iorwa Apera, the National Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), said 503,055 households were already on the NSR register from the 19 states, adding that by July, there would be a social register for all the states of the federation.

He said of the Abacha loot, about 302,000 poor homes across the 19 states would be mined by the NCTO to begin to receive the Abacha loot.

Mr Apera told the participants that the federal government would begin with those states, because they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NASSCO to put in place certain infrastructure to empower the national register.

Linda Ekeator of the office of the Special Adviser to the

President on Social Investment said the Abacha loot was invested in the social investment programme, because it was a programme that was already supported by the World Bank.

She said before the money was returned to Nigeria, there was an agreement with the Swiss government that it should be used for alleviating poverty and this was to be done with the supervision of the World Bank.

The Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Eric Mayoraz, said the $722 million of the Abacha family money that was hidden in Switzerland was fully repatriated in 2005.

He also said that the $322 million that was repatriated in December 2017, was money that was frozen by the Swiss Attorney-General, but was not domiciled in Switzerland, but in other countries, mainly Luxembourg.

He, however, said measures had been put in place to ensure that Swiss banks were not used to hide stolen funds from other countries.

“For possible new cases, the Swiss legislation has fundamentally changed.

“The law in Switzerland does not allow bank secrecy anymore, and all banks and financial institutions have a due diligence duty to ask everyone coming with money where it is coming from.

“That does not mean that there are no illegal or stolen assets now in Switzerland, but then there is another instrument I signed myself with the Nigerian Ministry of Justice and Switzerland two years ago on mutual legal assistance and this is for new cases.

“Now, this agreement with our own Ministry of Justice and Nigeria is that there will be direct communication and exchange on mutual legal request and we are really collaborating with EFCC and other agencies in Nigeria,’’ Mr Mayoraz.

The Executive Director, ANEEJ, David Ugolor, said for Nigerian citizens to not keep spreading rumours about the whereabouts of recovered loots, the government must be transparent in all the processes.

He also said CSOs should be given access to the social register to enable it monitor properly whether or not the beneficiaries received what was due to them.

Plateau: How Nigerian Govt Encourage Murderers – Amnesty International
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-29-2018, 09:21 AM - No Replies

Amnesty International on Wednesday condemned the recent massacre in Plateau, lamenting that Nigerian authorities are encouraging impunity by failing to arrest mastermind of murders in the country.

It said verified estimated figures indicate that since January 2018, at least 1813 people have been murdered in 17 states, which is double the 894 people killed in 2017.

The body added that the death tolls reflect killings as a result of farmers-herders conflict, communal clashes, Boko Haram attacks and banditry.

“We are gravely concerned about the rising spate of killings across the country, especially the communal clashes between farmers and herders and attacks by bandits across at least 17 states,” said Osai Ojigho Director Amnesty International Nigeria

“The authorities have a responsibility to protect lives and properties, but they are clearly not doing enough going by what is happening” said Osai Ojigho

“The latest incidence in Plateau state, where armed gunmen attacked 11 villages on 23 June for at least seven hours and killed at least 200 villagers without intervention from security forces should be investigated.”

“That the violence in Plateau started after an attack, which was followed by reprisal attacks from Thursday 21 shows unacceptable security lapses.

“Despite the deployment of security forces, including the military in over 30 states, the escalation of these attacks shows that whatever is being done by authorities is not working.

“There is urgent need for people who are suspected of committing crimes to be held accountable.

“We hope that President Buhari’s commitment to bring those suspected to be criminally responsible for the killings in Plateau state to justice will break the impunity that has spread through the country.”

“In addition, government must answer these questions: who are these attackers, where do they come from, where do they go after attacks, who arms them, why is security forces’ response time very slow?”

Amnesty International added that it is currently investigating the rising insecurity that has resulted in the increase in killings across Nigeria.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 29TH JUNE.

LET YOUR LIGHT “SO” SHINE

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

If the Master had only said, “Let your light shine before men…,” that would have been beautiful, but He emphasized the intensity by including the adverb, “so.” He wants you to shine with blazing intensity. He wants men to see your good works and glorify your heavenly Father. Also notice that He didn’t say, “I’m going to make your light so shine”; rather, you’re the one to make it happen!

Even Prophet Isaiah didn’t allude that God is the one to make your light shine”; he said, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (Isaiah 60:1). You’re the one to arise, and shine! It’s like what we read in Romans 12:11 (AMPC): “Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” What a counsel!

Again, we observe that the responsibility is yours to fan your zeal aglow. God is telling you what you can do. If you couldn’t be aglow and burning with the Spirit, He wouldn’t ask you to do it. He’s telling you to do it because He’s given you the power, the ability, to do it.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, “Ye are the light of the world….” Your response should be, “Yes, Lord, I’m a light in a dark world, and my light shines everywhere.” Act on the Word. Act on that idea God has placed in your heart, and bring God’s vision to pass! Get busy. Do something that’ll impact and improve the lives of those around you.

If you’re a student for example, beam the light of the glorious Gospel in the academic world! If you’re a businessman, a policeman, a soldier, a politician, a fashion designer, a lawyer or an athlete, impact your world! Change your environment.
Through your light, others will see; their lives will be improved; they’d be plucked out of darkness, confusion, poverty, sickness and death. Make a difference in your world by making impact with the Gospel.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the special privilege to be a blessing to my world, a light in a dark world, bringing blessings, illumination and meaning to the lives of many with the Gospel. My light shines so brightly, causing your glory to be revealed in, and through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

29TH JUNE.

I affirm that I was born for this purpose and for this reason I was raised. I came in the volume of the book; for it is written of me, I came to establish the will of the Father on the earth. I’m in the centre of will, and all things are working together for my good.
The hand of the Lord is on me and I am on the go for the master. I will never walk in confusion or uncertainty; I have an understanding of the times. I know what tomorrow holds for me because my spiritual antenna is attuned to the right frequency. I am in sync with the Spirit of God, and I know the mind of God concerning me. Hallelujah! I have first-hand information, and I am more accurate than the current affair units of this world.

There’s no accident in my path! Nothing happens in and within my world without my knowledge. I have insight into the secrets and mysteries of the Kingdom. The Spirit of God is alive in me, that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is at work on the inside of me; therefore, my physical body and its organs are being vitalized by the Holy Ghost.

I can never have a down day because Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life and the Holy Spirit has made His abode in me. Hallelujah. My life is full of glory and I am anointed to produce excellent results because the source of life dwells in me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

Tribute To My Brother And Friend Okon Papa

Adieu, my brother. Sometimes you were with me against our common Mechanic, sometimes you stood with the Mechanic against me. Your intelligence was infectious.
Not many will believe that despite knowing each other by reputation for a long time, we only got to meet physically just a few years ago.
I followed your career at Globacom with pride. I encouraged your Gubernatorial ambition in our state and felt you were more than qualified.
Despite our age difference, you treated me as an equal. The fact that we both attended Federal Government Colleges helped to bring out the mutual respect. I remember you telling me that had I attended FGC Warri, I would have been your school son, yet not many seeing us together would have known you were that much my senior.
Sad that I never got to take up that offer to visit and stay in your hotel.
Coming at a time my spirit was already down due to the killings in our country, your death is an additional blow.
My spirit is down, yet I stand. They may have succeeded in killing your body but your spirit lives on.
They have inflicted emotional pain on me, yet I stand. I stand because you would have wanted me to do so.
I stand, defiantly, without fear. I stand, face to face with injustice and oppression and I refuse to retreat.
You were always a delight to read on social media. A simple minded fellow with great insights. Even when friends hurt you, you took it in your strides and moved on, never uttering any word in annoyance.
If there is anything I learnt from you, it was how to keep calm in the face of extreme provocation. Something I did not learn too well.
Your killers, whoever they are, may believe they have won but they only killed your body and the worst form of death awaits them and since there is nothing hidden under the sun, they shall be caught and exposed ultimately.
Still I stand, my senior and brother. I stand with you in death. In your death, I stand stronger against forces of oppression, injustice, greed and wickedness.
Okon Papa, Efakek as you like calling me, still stands.
I don’t know when I will be joining you but I surely will because death is inevitable. Death is now what we live with. Only those who live in denial or ignorance don’t know that it is a matter of time. It will come to each and everyone of us, including your killers.

World Bank Approves $2.1bn Loan For Seven Projects In Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 08:08 PM - No Replies

The World Bank has announced the approval of $2.1bn loan for seven projects to be executed in Nigeria.

A statement issued in Abuja on Thursday said the loans were approved in Washington on Wednesday and are for seven projects to support Nigeria’s investment in nutrition, access to electricity, states’ fiscal transparency, polio eradication, women’s economic empowerment, public finance and national statistics and reducing vulnerability to soil erosion.

World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Rachid Benmessaoud, was quoted to have said, “The Federal Government of Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan identifies human capital investment, restoring growth, and building a competitive economy as its key pillars.

The projects approved by the International Development Association, the bank’s low-interest arm, are expected to support Nigeria’s economic growth plan.

Growth rates in Nigeria have bounced back since the third quarter of 2016, when a recession, its first in 25 years, bottomed out. Growth returned largely due to higher oil prices, with the country relying on crude sales for much of its revenue.

However, growth slowed again in the first quarter of 2018, as the country’s non-oil sector struggled.

The government expects growth to rise to a pre-recession level of 7 percent by 2020.

The World Bank said more than half of the loans would be used to fund power and climate change projects and boost fiscal transparency. It also approved a $7 million grant for nutrition.

Nigeria privatised most of its power sector in 2013 but retained control of its dilapidated monopoly transmission grid, often blamed for hobbling growth.

The country intends to raise $2.8 billion of debt offshore to help part-finance its 2018 budget and plans to explore all options to lower costs, the debt office head told Reuters.

The debt office said it could tap capital markets or concessionary loans from the World Bank after the 2018 budget had been approved.

Bishop Oyedepo: "Self Defence Is Entrenched In The Constitution"
User Avatar Forum: Religion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 08:04 PM - No Replies

SELF DEFENCE IS ENTRENCHED IN THE CONSTITUTION-CHRISTIANS ARE NOT DUMMIES.
-Bishop Oyedepo thunders!

*Says ‘If you are not angry with what God is angry with, you are a bastard’!
*Roars, Nigeria is not a Fulani Republic...in Nigeria, cows are now more valuable than human lives.

Bishop Oyedepo has been speaking very passionately over the last few hours about the recent killings in several parts of Northern Nigeria. At last night’s evening service and this morning’s Hour of Prayer monitored by Church Gist at the Canaanland premises, he fired at the killers and their sponsors stating among other things that self defence is the right of every Nigerian.

Eleven villages were sacked in Plateau and by now since this their callous acts started, 52 villages are empty....when there is no war! Cursed be all forces behind this wanton killings!

If I be a man of God, let the fire of divine vengeance fall upon their head! Join in this warfare prayer, they won’t know where the war is coming from but they won’t wake up in the morning...,,and the Christians are their targets. In the name of Jesus, divine vengeance will target them and bring them down.

We are told from the News that ISIS have found their way to Nigeria.

The present system must be prayed against...and God will bring them down.

The atrocities in Plateau, in Adamawa, Southern Kaduna, judgement will answer...but if you think you will proceed any further, except God has left Heaven, we are in it together.

Cursed be every agent of the devil out to destabilize our country. Cursed be every agent of the devil out to slaughter the saints.

The anger of the Lord is against the wicked and it shall land on their heads’ Bishop Oyedepo concluded.

Presidency Justify Killings Releases ‘checklist’ On Killings Under PDP
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 08:01 PM - No Replies

THE Presidency has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of shedding crocodile tears by declaring a mourning period for people killed in Plateau state, saying that even though more people were killed under the former ruling party, it never declared a mourning period.

A statement issued by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Thursday, gave a list of killings under PDP which it said the party never mourned.

The statement said that it was sad and unfortunate killings in Plateau state over the weekend have been turned to an opportunity to once again play irresponsible politics, particularly by the PDP.

The PDP had on Wednesday declared seven days of mourning during which it said flags in its office will fly at half mast.

The presidency stated: “These are dolorous times that call for deep introspection on how cheap human lives have become, and the proffering of actionable ideas on how to get out of the bind. But the PDP would rather dance on the graves of the dead, playing cheap, infantile politics.

“The comatose and prostrate party is declaring seven days of mourning, during which flags in its offices would be flown at half-mast nationwide. But unknown to the party, those flags had been forcefully lowered since its 2015 loss at the polls and may remain so for a long time to come, because Nigerians are politically discerning, and cannot be hoodwinked by cheap antics.

“A quick checklist of some savage and brutal killings in Nigeria during PDP rule, between 1999 and 2015, for which no national mourning was declared:

“November 20, 1999. Odi, in Bayelsa State, was invaded on orders of a PDP President. About 2,500 people killed. No national mourning.

“Between February and May 2000, about 5,000 people were killed during riots over Sharia law in different parts of the North. No national mourning.

“In 2001, hundreds of people, including the old, infirm, women and children were killed in Zaki Biam. No crocodile tears.

“Between September 7-12, 2001, Jos, Plateau State, erupted in internecine killings. Between 500 and 1,000 people were killed. Flags were not flown at half mast.

“In February 2004, at least 975 people were killed in Yelwa-Shendam, Plateau State. No mourning by the then ruling PDP.

“Between November 28 and 29, 2008, Jos was in flames again, with 381 deaths. No mourning.

“In 2010, 992 people killed in Jos. Mum was the word.

“In 2014 alone, according to Global Terrorism Index, at least 1,229 people were killed in the Middle Belt. No mourning.

“Boko Haram killings in PDP years were over 10,000. PDP flags were still fluttering proudly in the sky.

“Those who take pleasure in twisting statements from the Presidency may claim we are saying that many more people were killed under PDP than under President Muhammadu Buhari. It would be unconscionable to do so. The intendment of this statement is to show that wanton killings had been with us for awhile; this government is working towards enduring solutions; and should be given the opportunity to do so.

“Even a single soul is precious, and no man should take a life, which he cannot create. But when tragic situations as had happened in Plateau State occur, such should never be used to play crude politics. Those who are wont to do so should have change of hearts, or lose their very humanity.”

NABTEB Sacked Board Boss Accuses Registrar Of 42 Contracts Without Approval
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 04:54 PM - No Replies

Quote:More revelations emerged on Wednesday when the Chairman of the dissolved Governing Board of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, Prof Leonard Shilgba, released the report of the committee set up to investigate corruption and malpractices within the body.

The investigative report, obtained by our correspondent, showed that NABTEB, under the Registrar, Prof Ifeoma Abanihe, allegedly “awarded 42 contracts between February and March 2018 worth N154,813, 000 without going through due process.”

The report also stated that the “contracts were hurriedly awarded, split into units and were not given to the President through the Ministry of Education for approval.”

NABTEB had been in crisis since Monday when the governing board suspended the registrar, Abanihe and four NABTEB directors over N49m contracts allegedly unaccounted for.

The suspension had followed the panel report which uncovered irregularities in contract awards, in which about N49,779,000 was allegedly unaccounted for by the registrar.

On Tuesday, it was reported that President Muhammadu Buhari dissolved the NABTEB board with immediate effect and reinstated the suspended Registrar and the four directors, in a statement signed by the Ministry of Education’s Permanent Secretary, Sonny Echono.

The Chairman of the dissolved board, Shilgba, had been reported on Wednesday to have called on the President to look into the dissolution, insisting that the NABTEB board acted in line with its statutory powers.

Shilgba had stated that the board conveyed its panel report and recommendations to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the Permanent Secretary, Echono, but no action was taken on those decisions.

On Wednesday, our correspondent obtained a copy of the eight-page investigative panel report, detailing the irregularities and misappropriations uncovered in the examinations body.

In Section 5 of the report headlined, “Violation of the Procurement Process,” it was stated that that 42 contracts amounting to N154,813,432 were awarded without approval.

The report partly read, “The committee scrutinised the Registrar’s contract awards between February 21 and March 14, 2018. The findings are that 42 contracts amounting to N154,813,432 were split as follows; 15 separate contracts for printing, 14 separate contracts for the supply of HP LaserJet Toner, the rest went to the supply of printers, hard-drives, office flat files, envelopes and photocopying machines.

“There were no units specified and it was not possible to determine unit costs or quantities of all items. The contracts did not go through due process. The awarding authority in this respect was the Management Tenders Board. The contracts were hurriedly awarded, split into units and were not given to the President through the Ministry of Education for approval as the amount involved was beyond the powers of the Management Tenders Board.”

Our correspondent observed that the investigative panel report was signed by Dr Charles Osahon as Chairman, Dr Rachel Akpabio, Mr J.O. Oke and Mr Tina Eyaru as members and Dr Titus Umoru as the secretary.

FG Plans Additional $2.8bn Foreign Loan To Finance 2018 Budget - This Day
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 02:40 PM - No Replies

Quote:The federal government plans to borrow $2.8 billion offshore to finance its 2018 budget and would explore all options to lower costs, the Director General, Debt Management Office (DMO), Ms Patience Oniha, disclosed in an interview with Reuters Wednesday in Abuja.

The government, according to her, has laid out plans to borrow abroad even as interest rates are rising in the United States, raising fears that the country could pay a higher premium than its most recent debt sale in February.

The country, which left recession last year, approved a three-year plan in 2016 to borrow more from abroad so that 40 per cent of its loans would come from offshore to lower borrowing costs. It now has around 23 per cent of its debt from abroad, up from 16 per cent when it approved the plan.

The debt office has sent a request for a proposal to banks for an international bond offering, Reuters disclosed.

“We will explore all options, keeping in mind our twin objectives of extending the tenor of the debt stock and lowering costs,” Oniha said without giving details.

The National Assembly is, however, expected to approve the new borrowing plan.

Oniha in January said the DMO could tap capital markets or concessionary loans from the World Bank and would consider funding options after the 2018 budget had been approved.

President Muhammadu Buhari last week signed a record N9.12 trillion budget for 2018 into law, aimed at fostering growth in Nigeria before elections next February, in which he would seek a second term.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, while giving a breakdown of the budget last week, disclosed that the deficit was to be financed mainly by borrowing N1.643 trillion.

Growth rates in Nigeria have bounced back since the third quarter of 2016, when a recession, its first in 25 years, hit bottom.

It exited that contraction last year, largely due to higher oil prices, with the country relying on crude sales for much of its revenue.

However, growth slowed in the first quarter of 2018 for the first time since pulling out of recession as its non-oil sector struggled.

Nigeria raised $2.5 billion through a dual-tranche Eurobond offering in February, selling a 12-year note at 7.1 per cent to raise $1.25 billion and a 20-year tranche at 7.7 per cent.

The February deal was the second international bond sale in less than three months, after the debt office raised $3 billion through an offering of 10- and 30- year bonds in November.

This pushed the country’s total public debt higher as it increased by 4.52 per cent in the first three months of 2018. Precisely, the public debt increased from N21.73 trillion in December 2017 to N22.71 trillion at the end of the first quarter of 2018.

“The debt figures show that the implementation of the debt management strategy, which entails an increase in the external debt stock through new external borrowing and the substitution of high-cost domestic debt with low-cost external debt, is achieving the desired results in several areas.

“Some of these areas are: the share of the external debt stock in the total public debt, which rose to 30 per cent as of March 31, 2018, compared to 17 per cent in 2015, 20 per cent in 2016 and 27 per cent in 2017; a decline in market interest rates from 13 to 14 per cent per annum in December 2017, to 11 to 13 per cent per annum in the first quarter of 2018 due to the redemption of N279.67 billion of Nigerian Treasury Bills using some of the proceeds of the $2.5 billion Eurobond issued in February 2018,” the DMO had explained.

6 Herdsmen, 150 Cows Killed By "Unknown Soldiers" In Nasarawa — Police
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-28-2018, 02:20 PM - No Replies

Quote:Soldiers deployed in the Benue and Nasarawa states border have allegedly killed about six Fulani herdsmen and over 150 cows at Akpanagya, in the Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, ASP Usman Samaila, who confirmed this in a telephone interview with The PUNCH in Lafia, said the command received information that the military personnel came from Benue and carried out the operation that led to the killing of six people suspected to be Fulani herders in the state.

He said the command did not know what really happened between the Fulani herders and the military men.

He said, “The command is aware of the incident that took place in the Keana Local Government Area of the state.
“I can confirm to you that our men went to the scene of the incident and recovered about six dead bodies killed by the suspected military men in the area.”

He described the incident as “a wild operation that was formed by the military personnel to prevent an unabated crisis between Fulani herders and Tiv farmers at Benue and Nasarawa states border.”
According to him, the command had already drafted its personnel to Keana Local Government Area of the state to avert any possible future crisis.

Reacting to the killings of their people and cows, the Chairman of the Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Nasarawa State Chapter, Mallam Muhammed Hussein, expressed sadness over the attack.
Hussein, while addressing journalists at the Association’s secretariat in Lafia on Wednesday, said, “We are not happy that six of our members were shot dead by some bad eggs who are in the military.

“If the military suspects any Fulani man for any crime, they should arrest and prosecute him and not to just kill like that.

“I am not aware of what led to the attack but I was informed that some soldiers just invaded a Fulani settlement and shot six of our people, including a traditional title holder in the Fulani community.

“We want the government to investigate and punish the soldiers who carried out the killing because we are not going to take it.”
He added, “If you claim that the Fulani people committed a crime, how about the cows, what did the cows do that they will kill 150 cows?”

However, the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, said he had yet to be briefed on such an operation in Nasarawa and Benue states.

He promised to get back to our correspondent if such incident took place.
He said, “I have not heard anything from that general area. I will reach the brigade commanders and officers on the ground, but I have no record presently of such an incident.”

Labourer Arrested For Raping 5-Year-Old Girl While Mum Slept

@iamwakabobo

A bricklayer , Achibong Koko, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said

, “Information was received by the Divisional Police Officer, Onireke division, that a five-year-old girl had been defiled. A team of detectives was mobilised to the area, where the suspect, Achibong Koko, was arrested.

“According to the mother of the victim, the daughter left her room while she was asleep.“The victim was taken to a hospital where a doctor carried out an examination. The examination report revealed that the hymen of the victim had been ruptured as a result of the defilement.”

Koko, an indigene of Akwa-Ibom State, denied the allegation.

He said,

“I did not do anything to the girl. I did not even see the girl that afternoon. I was sleeping in my neighbour’s house around 3pm when I heard a noise outside. My friend told me that people were looking for us outside.

“They said the small girl had been defiled and that when they asked her who did it, she pointed at my room.

“The girl pointed at me at home and in the station that I did it; I don’t know why. Maybe because we stay in the same compound.”

The mother of the victim, Umoru Hajara, alleged that the suspect took her daughter from her side.

She said,

“I never knew she was no longer beside me. My aunt, who observed the way my daughter was walking, woke me up. When I saw her as well, I was forced to check her. I pulled down her pants and saw sperms on her body. I asked her who did it and she pointed to a particular room. When we got there, we didn’t meet anyone.

“I went to report to the leader of my area, Alhaji Bello. But unknown to us, the suspect was in his friend’s room. Both of them were called out, and they asked my daughter who violated her. She pointed at him.”

FFICIAL MEDIA STATEMENT & VIDEO ON MY CONVERSION TO #ISLAM. #KemiOlunloyo
Dear Everyone I hope u people realize I went to a Catholic church all my life and Catholic school while I was living with my grandma. I went to mass at Our Lady of Wisdom my childhood Catholic church in U.I March 12th 2017 till my life changed when I was dragged out of my home March 14th 2017 by armed Federal SARS police on orders of the IGP on behalf of a pastor. The #ptsd I have been battling has been ignored by everyone. My pain is too much. The recent Catholic church scandal and the ones I witnessed in America in the 90's is enough. Before I joined Salvation Ministry I attended Catholic church in prison. There are 6 churches and a mosque for all 5000 prisoners. When I was released, I continued attending St Mary's PH outside the prison till I decided to visit Salvation Ministries and meet the pastor that jailed me. I forgave him, he forgave me, told me to read the story of Saul to Paul. Pastor Ibiyeomie suffered me. He knew it. I made his church extra FAMOUS when I did a testimony cursing the sender of that letter to me telling ppl not to let the devil use you. His congregation prayed for global recognition and God gave them thru me. He preached about me at his #5Nog CD's which I covered well. I enjoyed it. Many of you mocked me saying he gave me millions. I have NEVER asked him for a penny. The case was withdrawn. I'm SUICIDAL daily  dreaming about how I was executed in prison and so many traumatic flashbacks. U mock my medical fund in 30 days only 12 people donated and U are preaching to me telling me I'm confused? Christianity bought me TURMOIL, no message. I'm not an atheist, My sisters gave me the Grail message not a religion. I need ALLAH aka GOD. Islamophobics should UNFOLLOW me. Islam is the peace I need. I'm worshipping God thru Prophet Mohammed so respect that. I will continue to blast radical Muslim terror groups. They are nonentities. .
Pentecostal, Catholic, Anglican Christians don't FAMZ me to preach. Face your own denominations. Fellow Muslims, don't politicize my conversion
.
Radical Muslims  don't welcome me. Hell awaits you.
THE END!
