Herdsmen killings: Oby Ezekwesili reacts to Buhari’s plea for patience
July 13, 2018  NEW

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari asked Nigerians to be patient while killings in many parts of the country continue.

Ezekwesili took to her Twitter handle on Thursday to attack Buhari for saying Nigerians should wait while his security chiefs come up with the solution to the incessant killings in the country.

The former Minister noted that Buhari made the comment because he is totally detached from what is going on in the country.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President had said his security team were racking their brains to come up with a lasting solution.

He said this while condemning the killings of scores of people, including a district head, in Gandi village in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State by bandits.

But Ezekwesili tweeted, “Did he (Buhari) just say be patient? This is all we need as citizens to know that our President is very detached from the reality of what his people have been telling him to stop the killings.

“His security teams are racking their brains? This is too much.”

Telecoms industry pays N450b taxes annually – ATCON chairman
User Avatar Forum: Mobile Telecom

[Image: 2017_8$large_Telecoms-operators-in-Nigeria.jpg]
The telecom industry annually contributes N450 billion in form of taxes to Nigeria’s economy, Mr Olusola Teniola, President, Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), has said.

Teniola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday that the industry had been paying the sum in the last five years to the three tiers of government.

He said that certain taxes including corporation and Pay As You Earn (PAYE) were statutory, claiming that multiple taxes and some other levies made up the sum.
“These levies represent N200 billion out of the N450 billion we pay annually.

“This extra N200 billion we are paying can be used to effectively roll out our networks and improve quality of services,’’ he claimed.

Teniola said that there were currently 38 taxes being paid by the industry.

According to the ATCON chairman, the taxes include right of way, annual operating levy, corporation tax, custom duty and stamp duty.

“The fact remains that, of the 38 taxes, only 10 are applicable to the industry.

“We call for harmonisation of all taxes in our industry by the Federal Ministry of Finance; if it is done, things will be better.

“If the taxes are harmonised, the Federal Government can distribute taxes paid at the federal level to the state and local government.

“That way, state and local governments will stop asking for money that is not even paid at the federal level.

“Likewise, local government should go to the state to request for its share of taxes paid by the industry,” he said.

Teniola appealed that state and local governments should align taxes which have things in common.

He also appealed to the governments to use the taxes to improve the lives of the citizens.

Buhari Rejects Four Bills Passed By Reps, Gives Reasons
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 01:34 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected four bills passed by the House of Representatives.

Buhari communicated his rejection via a letter read during plenary on Thursday.

The bills include the Corporate Manslaughter bill, 2018; Agricultural Credit Scheme (amendment) bill, 2018; National Child Protection and Enforcement Agency bill as well as Courts and Tribunal Standard Scales of Fines and Financial Penalties bill

Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who read the letter, said Buhari rejected the corporate manslaughter bill because its provisions were inconsistent with the 1999 constitution.

He also read that Buhari withheld his assent to the agricultural credit scheme (amendment) bill on the ground of increase of the credit therein which was initially tagged at N100 million.

The president added that the National Child Protection and Enforcement Agency bill is a duplication of duties of existing agencies such as National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

For the courts and tribunal standard scales of fines bill and financial penalties bill, the president explained that it contradicts existing laws in place.

The lower legislative chamber recently reintroduced 11 bills Buhari withheld assent to, for the purpose of overriding his veto power on them.

Ekiti: Police Say Teargassing Of Crowd, A Mistake, Assure It Won’t Happen Again
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 01:17 PM - No Replies

Quote:Apparently responding to the growing condemnation of its forceful dispersal of supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that gathered in front of Government House, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State for an address by the state Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday, the police Thursday said the action was a mistake that would not be allowed to happen again.

“I want to assure the good people of Ekiti State that such mistake will never repeat itself,” Habilal Joshak, a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), said on the state-owned Ekiti State Broadcasting Corporation, Television Service in Ado-Ekiti.

A crowd of PDP supporters awaiting the address of Fayose, prelude to a victory rally slated for the campaign headquarters of the PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Olusola Eleka, around Fajuyi area of the capital city, was dispersed by the police, using teargas.

The state governor had eventually shown up at the rally in neck brace, weeping, claiming that he had been teargassed and rough-handled by policemen who slapped and hit him with their guns.

He said he had been to the hospital for treatment and that in spite of that, was in pains, warning that if anything happened to him, the Inspector-General of Police (IG) Ibrahim Idris should be held responsible.

Fayose’s claim attracted instant rebuke from the public, leading to a nationwide protest Thursday by the PDP, which leadership marched on the National Assembly and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja, as well as all state commands of the Nigeria Police Force.

The police, however, stood down Thursday, lifting its siege to the Government House, Ado-Ekiti in an obvious remorse for its action a day earlier.

Police chief, Joshak, told the state-owned television that contrary to widespread belief, he did not order his men and officers to use teargas on the crowd.

He explained: “What I said was that those massing for the rally should be asked to leave because it is not good going by the mood of the state now to hold rally or street procession. I didn’t say they should use force.

“This is an election, and electioneering is a civil matter anywhere across the globe. So, police as security agents can’t use force on the people.

“But I want to assure the good people of Ekiti State that such mistake will never repeat itself.”

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Mr. Lere Olayinka, said Fayose had been discharged from the hospital and was stabilising.

“The governor is now better and stabilising fast. He is out of the hospital and I believe he will get well soon,” he said.

Five APC Governors Meet With Tambuwal In Sokoto
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 01:15 PM - No Replies

Five governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday met with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for about three hours at the government house in Sokoto.

Speculations were rife that Tambuwal had perfected plans to return to PDP which he dumped in the buildup to the 2015 general elections while he was Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Before the meeting, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who led the other governors, said they were in the state to commiserate with Tambuwal, the people of Sokoto and families of victims of the recent killings in Rabah Local Government Area of the state.

Other governors at the meeting were those of Borno, Kashim Shettima; Adamawa, Jibrilla Bindow; Jigawa, Badaru Abubakar; Katsina, Aminu Masari; and Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello.

However, shortly after the condolences, the governors went straight into a closed door meeting.

Truck Falls On Man's Car On Ojuelegba Bridge, Comes Out Alive From The Accident

Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 01:12 PM - No Replies

A man has taken to social media to rejoice after learning that his doctor friend miraculously cheated death after being involved in the accident which saw two dead in Lagos. The accident happened when a truck loaded with boards and plywood tilted on the Ojuelegba Bridge, Surulere, Lagos State last month - killing two people and injuring others.

Fred Chukwuelobe who believes that miracles still happen, took to his Facebook earlier today to write;

"THANK GOD FOR MY DOCTOR AND FRIEND, PROF. Olufemi Adetola Fasanmade who miraculously survived this terrible accident. An articulated vehicle fell on top of his car, crushing it and not him.

He and his driver came out of this mangled car with minor injuries. Praise God.

Prof. Fasanmade, an endocramist and an amiable human being, treats my mother and my family. I recall each time I go visiting him, we discuss the challenges confronting our beleaguered nation. He's so passionate about this country and will always tell me how he looked forward to the day our country will come out of the woods.

Unlike many doctors who see themselves as next to God, Prof. Fasanmade is approachable and is also ready to help at the shortest notice. He can diagnose and prescribe medicine for you in an emergency without asking for deposit. On many occasions and in crisis situations, he has had to come to my mother's aid even without seeing her. Once she's stabilised, he'd would ask that I being her to him to see and follow up.

You can imagine my excitement when I learnt he was the one in this car which was crushed by care less articulated vehicle driver.

I am so overjoyed that I'm sharing this post in celebration of a miraculous survival of my dear friend. I am so happy that he's alive and well and will continue to provide healthcare to the people who rely on him in a country where healthcare provision is a tall dream.

Please join me in thanking God for their survival.

May God's name be praised. Amen".

It said the herder, Babuga Kuaara, had already been arrested for the alleged offence, adding that the deceased policeman was attached to the Kaoje Police Division in Bagudo Local Government Area.

Sex-for-bail Scandal Rocks Bariga Police Station
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 01:04 PM - No Replies

Quote:[Image: Adebukola-2.jpg]

Do officers harass women for sex before granting them bail at the Ilaje Police Division in Bariga, Lagos State?

This is the puzzle Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal has asked the Gender Unit of the Command to unravel following allegations of sexual harassment against an officer at the station.

A widow, Mrs Adebukola Mowette, is alleging that an officer, simply identified as Egi asked her for sex to grant her bail.

“He fondled my breasts and threatened to ensure I rot in prison if I refused to sleep with him. He said in jail, they will shave the hairs on my private parts and those on my head,” the woman told The Nation yesterday.”

Mowette, who was detained on June 25, after a fight with a man, said she was yet to get over the humiliation and harassment she went through.

Our correspondent met her at the Bariga monarch’s place, while investigating other allegations against policemen at the division.

She said she was shocked by the actions of another policeman and a policewoman, who told her to accept Egi’s proposal for the case against her would be dropped.

The woman recalled that it all started in May when she reported the loss of her phone at the station.

She claimed that she placed her phone on a roadside betting kiosk popularly known as Baba Ijebu , where some youngsters sat in order to tie her wrapper properly. She said when she was done, she did not find the phone again.

“They said they did not see my phone and so, I had to go to the police to report. They were invited but at the end of the day, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) said I accused them wrongly and asked us to go.

“From that day, whenever I passed, they would be threatening me and making snide remarks. I never replied them.

I even reported the matter to our Community Development Association (CDA). But on June 25, my son came from Ikorodu and they stopped him on the road and threatened him as well. They said they would kill us if we did not leave the street for them.

“There was no way I would allow them threaten my son and so, I went out and confronted that particular area boy. He pushed me. I also pushed him back. We started fighting; people separated us and I left.

The next thing, police came and arrested me that I have injured him and that he could not walk again. They took me to the station and locked me up inside the cell.

“I even asked Egi why I was the only one arrested, since it was two fighting but he said the complainant was in the hospital. That I have not seen anything yet.”

Mowette said she rebuffed Egi’s love advances, claiming that the policeman told her she was in for a hard time.

She said he rained curses on her and also poured water on her through the sell’s ventilation holes.

“I told him I will not sleep with him even if he was the last man on earth. This got him angry and he started pouring water through those holes and said he would pour urine too. After some hours, he brought me out that I should come and write my statement.
I told him I will not writing anything because I do not know what he wanted me to write.

“He then pressed my breasts and said is this what you are doing Shakara with? Do you know how many young and beautiful women I have slept with here? I will even be doing you a favour by sleeping with you.

“Since you have refused, you will go to prison. There, they will shave the hair in your private parts, your hair and lock you up for many years.

“My sister, the worst part was that a policewoman and another policeman were telling me to agree to sleep with Egi that it is a normal thing. I was so angry and disappointed at the same time. The woman called me Iyawo Egi and said that if I should agree, they will just close the case and I will go home.

“But I stood my ground. How can I agree to sleep with him? For what? Egi said he’s the only one that can help me that I should befriend him. I refused that never will I do such, he threatened to take me to court.

“He forced me to say my statement. I did not write it. I was just talking and he was writing. He did not let me see what he wrote. He asked the guy if he’s ready to go to court but he said no that he wanted settlement and that I should pay N40,000 he used to treat himself.

“Egi now said I should pay the money or I will be sent to Kirikiri Prison. Out of fear, I accepted to pay the money and they said I had to provide it that day. I told them I did not have it that day. I even went to beg the Divisional Police Officer (DCO) but he shouted at me and said I should go and settle with Egi my IPO.

“After rallying round for some days to raise money and I could not, I went back to the police station and told Egi that I could not raise money. He said if I had agreed to cooperate with him, the matter would have been closed. That day was Friday and so, he gave me till Monday to provide the money.

“So, I went to my uncle for help and he gave me N5,000, which I took to the station but Egi said it was not complete. I told him I could not raise more and he started harassing me and touching my breast.

I knocked off his hands and he said I must bring the money the next day. He also threatened to kill me if I tell anyone what happened.

“I had to run to the palace for help because I did not know what to do again. I am happy I met you here. Please, I need help. The Commissioner of Police and government need to know what is happening. They need to investigate Ilaje Police Division.”

Edgal directed the Gender Unit to conduct a discreet investigation into the case.

The matter, he said, would not be swept under the carpet, restating his intolerance for misconduct or any action capable of smearing the police.

He said: “Please, always bring matters like these to my attention. I assure you it will be investigated, the truth established and actions taken.”

It was gathered that the parties have made statements and asked to return on Tuesday.

Lisa Rinna Celebrates Turning 55 With Nude Selfie

Lisa Rinna Celebrates Turning 55 With Nude Selfie
Wednesday, July 11, was Lisa Rinna's birthday. The The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is now 55 years old.
She decided to celebrate by snapping a selfie so naked that it is no longer on Instagram. But you can still see it -- the internet is forever.

Fair warning: the image below is not safe for work. There are nipples in play.

This time, instead of a topless mirror selfie, she took the full-bodied approach.

She snapped a photo of herself at a window.

You can see through the window, but you can also see the reflection of her dynamite body in the glass.

It's not just a silhouette, either. Her nipples are right there, staring you in the face.

And you don't have to take our word for it.

As we mentioned, that image is not safe for work. Or for children.

It is also not safe for Instagram. She hasn't been banned, but that photo is gone from Instagram.

But not gone from our hearts. Or, of course, from the internet.

She had captioned the Instagram selfie "birthday suit," and she was not kidding.

It's not the only photo featuring her trim figure and a window that she's shared to Instagram in recent days.

Lisa also followed up by posting a caption reading:

"Happy F--king Birthday to ME!"

That's the spirit!

To show that she was very much in the birthday mood, she followed those words with six cake slice emojis.

Though we somehow doubt that Lisa ate quite that much cake on her birthday, she has every right to do so. She'll turn 55 but once.

Lisa Rinna is drop dead gorgeous.

Acknowledging that is like saying that the sun is bright. Just as the sun douses us with unwanted heat, light, and ultraviolet radiation, Lisa can also be problematic at times.

Less than a year ago, Lisa -- for unknown reasons -- decided to tweet "All Lives Matter."

We don't really understand why she decided to add her voice to the rallying cry of those who feel weirdly threatened by the assertion that Black Lives Matter..

Perhaps she was looking to stir up controversy and accusations of racism, and decided that her husband Harry Hamlin wearing a swastika was too subtle.

Still, everyone is growing and learning as a human being.

Lisa Rinna might not look 55, but she's experiencing time just like the rest of us -- and learning from her experiences.

So perhaps she'll come around to issues that she didn't quite understand with time. Or perhaps not.

Either way, the fans and followers of this Real Housewife hope that she never, ever stops posting nudes. She worked hard for her incredible body, and she should feel free to show it off whenever she likes.

(Whether it is her birthday or any other special occassion)

Instagram, however, would probably prefer that she keep her nipples to herself when using their social media platform. They have rules.

Spoilsports.

Cardi B Gives Birth! Comes Up with Weird Baby Name!

Cardi B Gives Birth! Comes Up with Weird Baby Name!
For Cardi B and Offset, first came love... then came marriage...
... now has come a baby in, we presume at some point, a baby carriage.
It's true: Cardi B just gave birth to her first child!

The beloved artist made this very exciting announcement herself, doing so in very Cardi B-like fashion:

Via a naked photo on Instagram, along with the date of the child's birth (yesterday, July 10, 2018) and her gender (a girl) and her unique name: Kulture Kiari.

Yes, Kulture Kiari.

Gotta imagine the Kardashians are either very excited about that name or very angry that Cardi B totally stole their gimmick.

"Kulture Kiari Cephus 07/10/18 @offsetyrn," wrote Cardi B as a caption to the image below.

The rapper kept her pregnancy a secret for months before finally revealing her bump during her stint as a musical guest on an April episode of Saturday Night Live.

“I’m finally free!” the 25-year-old said as she walked off stage from her performance.

Since then, she has talked openly about the pregnancy, as well as about her relationship with Offset.

Heck, she even admitted that she considered an abortion because she learned about the pregnancy, which was NOT planned, at the exact time her career was taking off.

But then Cardi realized the position she's in and explained:

“I just didn’t want to deal with the whole abortion thing. I’m a grown woman, I’m 25 years old, I’m gonna say this in the most humblest way: I’m a schmillionaire. I'm prepared for this."

Cardi and Offset, meanwhile, actually got married in September.

They just didn't tell anyone at the time.

“There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!” she wrote in a Twitter note, adding recently:

“Our relationship was so new breaking up and making up and we had a lot of growing up to do but we was so in love we didn’t want to lose each other."

Offset is the father of three children from previous relationships – two sons, Jordan and Kody; and a daughter Kalea Marie.

Cardi B has been happy to put trolls who question their romance and who question having a child with a multi-time baby daddy in their rightful place.

Wendy Williams, as always, was one of those trolls.

Offset was also caught cheating on Cardi B awhile back, but the singer was able to move past that rather huge obstacle.
"We didn't want to lose each other," Cardi simply said of that issue.

As for whether motherhood will change her schedule? Cardi B has said the following:

"What I envision is my tour bus has my own personal room and I just want to be with my baby. Only time I don't have my baby with me is when I'm getting my hair done, makeup done, performing.

"I don't want to miss one second. I don't want to miss no smiles, I don't want to miss no new movement, I don't want the baby to confuse me and the babysitter."

We love it!

Congrats to the new parents!

Kourtney Kardashian to Younes Bendjima: Forget Your Career! Focus on ME!

Kourtney Kardashian to Younes Bendjima: Forget Your Career! Focus on ME!

Younes Bendjima may enjoy hot cougar sex with Kourtney Kardashian, but the boy-toy turned boyfriend is apparently growing a little restless under the famous MILF.
Under her shadow, we mean.
A report says that Younes is trying to make a name for himself on his own terms -- without Kourtney.
A source tells RadarOnline that Younes Bendjima is eager to prove himself as a model without just riding her coattails.
"Younes was modeling before he met Kourtney," the insider mentions.
That is absolutely true. Like her ex, Scott Disick, Kourtney seems to have a thing for young, hot models. In her case, just one in particular.
The source absolutely acknowledges: "and being her boyfriend has definitely given him a bigger star status."
Younes is well aware of that.
But it sounds like it's not quite enough for him.
"He’s had a lot of offers rolling in because of that," the insider states.
That's no surprise. He's practically a household name -- at least, in homes where people are familiar with the intricate workings of the Kardashian clan.
Younes sees these offers, the source says, "and wants to use this time to turn his dream of becoming a male supermodel into reality."
This time, we take it, refers to his youth. Modeling is not one of those careers that gets easier over time.
He's not going to be a hot young thing forever, unfortunately. He wants to have his romance while also getting serious about his career.
[Image: kourtney-kardashian-straddles-younes-bendjima.png]
Sadly, it sounds like Kourtney is less than enthusiastic about this.
"Kourtney would rather he focused on being with her," the insider reports.
On the one hand, that sounds selfish. No one should be asked to choose between love and their career.
On the other hand, you can imagine how Kourtney might feel. She gave years to Scott, only for him to move on to younger pastures. She can't want history to repeat itself.
Besides, Kourtney is said to feel like Younes already has enough of a boost.
The source says: "She thinks he should be grateful to her for all the attention and Instagram followers he’s getting."

But it sounds like the boy-toy game, even though their romance is real, has gotten old.
"Younes has made it clear that he’s tired of being Kourtney’s glorified escort," the insider reveals.
He must feel like a prized show dog at times, with Kourtney flaunting him and his hot body on social media.
Younes is ready for change, the source says, "and he wants to focus on turning himself into a huge star."
She's a Kardashian. She -- and especially a few of her sisters and definitely her mom -- could make Younes' career dreams happen.
Younes doesn't sound like he'll be easily deterred in his pursuit of his supermodeling dreams.
The insider says that he's going to try to launch his career to the next level -- and he'll do it "no matter what she thinks."
But hopefully he'll do it with her blessing -- and the full support of her, her brand, and her very influential family.
As for Kourtney's worries ... well, she has no need to be insecure.
Maxim may think that Sofia Richie is hotter than Kourtney, but Younes has to know her value -- and hotness -- better than just about anyone.

Justin Bieber to Hailey Baldwin: I Never Want to Hear the Name Shawn Mendes Again!

Justin Bieber to Hailey Baldwin: I Never Want to Hear the Name Shawn Mendes Again!

As you've likely heard by now, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged last week after just over a month of dating. At first, it seemed impossible, but Bieber and Baldwin have confirmed the news by posting a series of loving tributes to one another on social media.
Of course, it's not all sunshine and unicorns in Jusley's world these days.

When a high-profile couple gets engaged after short a brief courtship, things can get messy.
One of the biggest problems, of course, is the fact that both parties are likely to have very recent exes.
And the more recent an ex, the more likely they are to be a source of drama.

Which may be why Justin is taking no chances.
According to Life & Style, Bieber has asked Baldwin to delete all traces of her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes from her social media accounts.
[Image: shawn-mendes-hailey-baldwin-justin-bieber-split.png]
“Shawn is happy for Hailey and Justin and has said that he loves them both, but Justin isn’t taking any chances,” a source tells the tabloid.
“Justin wants to take his relationship with Hailey to the next level, but he can’t do that until he feels confident she isn’t pining for someone else.”
Seems like he already took care of getting to the next level by popping the question, but we guess the Biebs likes to be extremely thorough.
“Erasing every trace of Shawn on her social media was a way for Hailey to prove her loyalty,” the insider added.
“And she had no problem pressing delete.”
Rumors about Bieber "forcing" Baldwin to delete Mendes from her life have been circulating for weeks.

In a twist that no one saw coming, it seems that those reports are accurate, and Justin has absolutely no shame about issuing the demand.
As for that other famous in this scenario, sources say Selena Gomez is glad to be rid of Justin for good.
She apparently harbors no ill will toward Baldwin, but instead feels sympathy for the 21-year-old model.
If the Jelena relationship is any indication, Gomez is right to feel bad for Hailey.
The girl may be in for quite a wild ride.

‘Why President Buhari’s Backing Of Herdsmen Is The Will Of God’- Ezeife
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 10:11 AM - No Replies

A former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s perceived backing of Fulani herdsmen might be the will of God.
Ezeife said this while accusing Buhari of giving confidence to the herdsmen’s actions and taking Nigeria backwards.
He, however, said Buhari’s action might be the will of God to unite Nigerians and rebrand the country.
Speaking to Independent, Ezeife said “APC has taken Nigeria from up, where it saw her to the bottom, where it is difficult to know how to come out of it. President Muhammadu Buhari has given confidence to herdsmen and other Islamists, who have invaded country and are presently killing the people, but in the process uniting the rest of Nigeria.
“That can be the will of God. Therefore, we should not just pray but confront some of the issues causing problems for the country as well.
“Religious crisis usually arise from human errors and if you put some of these errors into proper perspective without being biased, you will find out that there is nothing to fight for.
“But when I look at what is happening presently, Nigeria has become a shame to Africa. The country is not progressing, and I asked: Why are we not progressing as we should? I found that our leaders are toying with God’s design for the country’s greatness.
“We have only taken giant steps backward and the country is dying; people are packing their vehicles on the bridges and jumping into the ocean. Nigerians are dying in the desert, while trekking to Libya.
“That is where we are now. You will see people lying on the streets and you think that they are resting, not knowing that they have been dead for days. I am not blaming any party for this situation because it may be the design of God as whoever became president did so with the help of God. May be, what is happening is God’s way of remaking Nigeria as He works in mysterious ways.”
Further speaking on the alliance formed by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with other parties to dethrone Buhari, he said their plans would fail.
“My belief is that anything is possible in 2019. But, what will not be possible is APC or PDP winning the presidential election. Yes, they have political structures, but the question is: Why will Nigerians continue with failure?” He questioned.

Jenelle Evans: I Found a Brand New Way to Be a Bad Mom, Dude!

Jenelle Evans: I Found a Brand New Way to Be a Bad Mom, Dude!
Is Jenelle Evans the worst mother on all of Teen Mom?
Could be, yeah.
She definitely has some competition in a franchise that also includes the likes of Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham, but she's the only one who's been investigated by CPS this month, so ...

Remember when she had Jace and told her friends that having a baby was like being in jail, and then she said that she thought it'd be OK if she went out and partied all night because her newborn would be sleeping anyway?
Or when she signed over custody of Jace to her mom so she could smoke weed with Kieffer and get arrested a ton?

That kind of stuff happened eight years ago, but there are plenty of examples from this year to choose from as well.
For instance, all those child abuse allegations against Jenelle's husband, David Eason.
Look, we could spend days going over all the horrible, awful things Jenelle has done as a parent -- literal days, probably -- but let's just get down to business and talk about this new thing, all right?
Because this new thing Jenelle's doing to fail at parenthood is illegal and also potentially life-threatening.
See, last year, before the swamp started eating her house, Jenelle decided to get a pool.

She's shared a lot of pictures of it since then, and it does look pretty fun. The kids seem to enjoy it, which is nice, considering everything else that allegedly goes on out there.
But there is an issue: she's never put a fence around the pool.
Her social media followers have been hounding her about this oversight ever since the pool came to be, so much that she's actually commented on it.
All the way in September, she tweeted that "of course" she'd put a fence around it, with "a pull lock like at public pools."

She added that "To get your permit approved for your pool you have to get a fence, also to protect wildlife."
And yet here we are, nearly a year later, and does the pool have a fence?
You know good and well it does not.
This issue has been getting more attention lately, probably because Jenelle's been posting more photos and videos featuring the pool now that it's summertime.
Like this one, where you can clearly see that there's no fence:
[Image: jenelle-evans-and-david-eason-on-july-4.png]
On that photo, she received comments like "Y'all need a fence around the pool b4 a child drowns idiots" and "I would rather fence in my pool than bury my child but I guess that's bc I'm logical."

One person advised her to "Put a safety fence up around that pool or just like that an accident with those children can happen in
Another pointed out that "She doesn't even know the first thing about carseat safety, why would she care about her kids drowning?"
Believe it or not, while Jenelle has tons and tons of haters, she also has some fans, and those people tried to defend her by saying she does have a fence around the yard -- you can see it in the background.
It's true, the fence is obviously there, but it fences in the entire backyard, so the kids can still go outside and directly to the pool.
And according to North Carolina state law, that's simply not good enough.
Radar Online reached out to someone from the North Carolina building codes department, and that person confirmed that, legally speaking, you have to block off your pool.

According to the law, any kind of outdoor pool is required to have a barrier that meets certain standards.
There are lots of specific measurements that barrier must have -- it has to be a certain height and in a certain position, that kind of thing.
But since Jenelle doesn't have any barrier at all around her pool, that means she's breaking the law.
Will anything come from this? Probably not.
After all, Jenelle's done heroin, abused animals, and stolen her mother's credit cards all on national television, and she's never even been in jail.

Meghan Markle Continues to Piss Off the Queen By Breaching Royal Protocol
We're sure being royalty has its perks.
You get to call people peasants and sit in the fanciest chairs ... all-in-all, it's probably a pretty sweet gig.

But there are just so many freakin' rules you have to follow.

It's like someone combined being a celebrity with being in fourth grade and tossed in crowns to sweeten the deal.

If you're raised as royalty, that's one thing.

You've known since childhood that you would be forced to spend your adult life wearing a fake-ass smile and waving to the masses in a way that makes it look like you just learned how to wave.

But if you marry into the Windsor clan -- especially after a relatively brief courtship -- the culture shock is probably quite severe.

That's what Meghan Markle seems to be learning the hard way these days, as she attempts to navigate the byzantine labyrinth that is royal protocol.

At one of her first public appearances as a royal, Meghan's bare shoulders resulted in clutched pearls and shattered monocles all over the British Empire.

Shortly thereafter, Meghan had the audacity to try and hold Prince Harry's hand in plain view of the plebes.

Needless to say, another scandal ensued.

One would think that after being thoroughly admonished by royal traditionalists in the press, Meg would cool it on the modern attire and PDA, right?

Not so fast, guvnah!

According to several media outlets, Meghan stepped out sporting bare shoulders and clutching Harry's arm at the 100th birthday celebration for the Royal Air Force yesterday.

And the insults to the crown didn't end there.

Apparently, Meghan once again crossed her legs at the knee (a no-no, according to royal etiquette experts) in open defiance of the unwritten code of royal conduct.

For shame!

This is probably exactly what the Queen was afraid of when Harry married an American.

This is like that dreadful ordeal with those blasted New World colonies all over again.

Next thing you know, she'll be downing hot dogs and Budweiser to commemorate the day that impertinent document was signed.

George Lopez Pees On Trump's Walk of Fame Star, Royally Pisses Off MAGA Crowd

George Lopez Pees On Trump's Walk of Fame Star, Royally Pisses Off MAGA Crowd

Ever since Donald Trump was elected president, his star on the Walk of Fame has been a common target for some very amusing vandalism.
Now, "amusing" is not a word one would normally use to describe George Lopez, a man who typically favors the Adam Sandler "I'm rich, therefore I don't have to be funny" approach to comedy, but we're willing to make an exception in this case.
[Image: george-lopez-pees-on-donald-trumps-star.jpg]

George Lopez "Pees" on Donald Trump's Star

Lopez recently pretended to take a leak on the Donald's star, and TMZ obtained video of the righteous micturition.

Not exactly comic gold on its own, but the response to Lopez's innocuous gag has been flat-out hilarious.

The department says more than 50 individuals have contacted them to report Lopez's "crime," thus far, and the complaints just keep pouring in.

Hilariously, many of the offended parties seem not to realize that Lopez didn't actually pee on the star, a fact that's abundantly clear to anyone who's watched the video of the incident.

One caller described Lopez's actions as "sick, deplorable, offensive and disrespectful."

Another fell for the prank harder than Sarah Palin being duped by Sacha Baron Cohen:

"If this was any normal person they would be arrested for indecent exposure," claims the outraged citizen, who apparently believes that penises and water bottles are interchangeable as far as the law is concerned.

"[Does] the Hollywood elite think they're above the law and you guys took an oath to obtain the Law."

It's moments like this where you almost have to marvel at Trump's mind control powers.

Dude's a born-rich, Ivy League-educated billionaire who's managed to convince tens of millions of Americans that he's on their side in the war against "the elites" -- a group that apparently includes George Lopez.

To be fair, we imagine this is quite the triggering event for some folks in the MAGA crowd.
A wealthy Mexican-American literally peeing on Donald Trump's name is a waking nightmare for most of these people.
Which is exactly why we encourage every brown-skinned person in the Greater Los Angeles area to head to Hollywood Boulevard and empty their bladders in the name of freedom.

Don't worry if you're not actually Mexican or rich.

The people who are most likely to be pissed off by your patriotic piddle will assume you just backstroked across the Rio Grande and fell into some cushy seven-figure gig that was meant for them.

Farrah Abraham Undergoes Cosmetic Surgery ... Inspired By Kylie Jenner?!
If you were worried that motherhood would slow down Kylie Jenner's career, fear not.
The 20-year-old is crushing it harder than ever these days.
Kylie covers the new issue of Forbes thanks to her wildly popular cosmetics line, which the magazine estimates will soon be worth more than $1 billion.
Of course, Kylie's brand is based largely on her look, and it seems that in the style department, Stormi's mom is still setting trends without even trying.
As you may have heard, Kylie got her lip fillers removed recently, and apparently, big lips are now officially "out" as a result.
(We didn't know facial features could be "in" or "out," but  we guess that's a testament to Kylie's power.)
Most of the people who emulate Kylie's style are young (like, "can't but booze yet" young) and highly impressionable ... but some folks think 27-year-old Farrah is also taking her cues from the cosmetics queen:

Farrah Abraham Gets Her Lip Fillers Removed
Yes, that's video of Farrah getting her own lip fillers removed.
Many were quick to assume that Farrah was jumping on the Kylie-driven small-lip bandwagon, but she claims that's not the case.
"June 14th: Get your lip filler out the right way for more see," Farrah captioned the above video on Instagram.
Yes, Farrah was careful to point out that she had her procedure done before the world learned that Kylie had reverted to her natural lips.
And she claims she got zapped with the "golden vibrator" for medical reasons, not cosmetic ones:
"Some filler migrated above my lip and I didn't look like myself," Farrah tells Radar Online.
I did not want to keep waiting for it to dissolve, so Dr. Nazarian dissolved it for me."
But that doesn't mean that Kylie has no role in all of this.
After all, Farrah waited almost a month to post this video, and she encourages her followers to have their lip fillers removed "the right way."
The timing is odd, and we're guessing she was paid by the doc to post this video.
Furthermore, we're assuming this piece of sponsored content was inspired by one very young soon-to-be-billionaire.
Kylizzle is freakin' everywhere these days.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 13TH JULY.

A GREATER AND MORE PERFECT TABERNACLE.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us (Hebrews 9:11-12).

In the Old Testament, the temple Solomon built was divided into two parts: outside was the temple courts, where the animals for sacrifices were killed. Then, there was the temple itself; the first part of it being the holy place, and only the priest could go in there then.

The second part of it was the most holy place, separated from the first tabernacle with a thick curtain.
While the priest ministered in the holy place, only the high priest could go into the most holy place—the inner sanctuary—and he did that once a year. To go into the most holy place, he had to offer sacrifices to God for himself and for others; he could only go in there with the blood of an animal (Hebrews 9:6-8). Moreover, at the end of one year, that atonement would expire, and another sacrifice would be required.
Regardless of the sacrifices performed by the high priest every year, sin was never put away; the presence of God still wasn’t accessible to the people. More so, the altar where the high priest performed the sacrifices had to be sanctified with other sacrifices before the gifts were put on it, including all the utensils in the temple. In other words, the tabernacle that was supposed to be so holy and make things holy, was itself not holy enough.

Then the Bible says that Jesus, being a high priest in the order of Melchisedec came with a greater and more perfect tabernacle, and offered Himself once and for all. Hebrews 10:5 says, “…Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me.” His body was the greater and more perfect tabernacle, and through Him, the presence of God is now open to all who believe. Now we have boldness to “…enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh” (Hebrews 10:19-20).

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, offered once and for all, for the blotting away of sins! I acknowledge this perfect sacrifice that has brought me eternal and perfect remission of sin, and into union with you forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Hebrews 9:13-15 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

John 2:18-21 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

13TH JULY.

I affirm that the Lord has made my life beautiful! He has crowned me with favour, and positioned me by grace for the supernatural life! I rejoice in God’s infinite grace and boundless love, for He has caused me to dwell in super-abundance in Christ Jesus! I am living triumphantly, every day, enjoying my life, and celebrating the greatness of God in me. Hallelujah! My spirit, soul, and body are under the dominion of the Word, and the influence of God’s Spirit. I am not ordinary; I am a child of God and a joint heir with Christ. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places, for I have a goodly heritage. I’m conscious of my glorious heritage in Christ, and through meditation on the Word, and fellowship with the Spirit, I get to know more and enjoy my inheritance in Christ. Hallelujah! My mind is blessed with life-changing ideas and innovations. I have the mind-set of a champion, and the wisdom of God has mantled my heart for greater results. No weapon formed against me will ever prosper. Today, I go out with joy, and I am led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills break forth before me in singing and all the trees of the field clap their hands. I function in God’s perfect will and have insight into the realities of the Kingdom. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

• Be bold to say the same things that God has said concerning you in His Word. That is what takes you beyond salvation, to enjoy the benefits of salvation ~ Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

Yahoo Plus Club: I Killed The Ex-Governor's Daughter To Get Rich Within 7 Days - Boyfriend
[Image: oluboyo_killer.jpg]
THE Holy Bible in Jeremiah 17 vs 9 succinctly stated that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
This verse aptly described the story of a 27-year-old suspected ritualist, Adeyemi Alao, also known as QS. The 2012 Quantity Surveying graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, allegedly strangled her fiancee, Khadijat Oluboyo, 24, dismembered her, buried her in a grave he dug in his bedroom, and slept on the decomposing corpse for six days. All these were in a bid to be rich. The suspect is a son of a bricklayer, Alhaji Alani Alao, who hails from Osun State. Neighbours described the suspect’s father as a Muslim, gentle and easy-going until the ugly incident which had ridiculed the family. How Alao killed lover A reliable source said the lover boy, who is being interrogated by detectives in the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the state Police Command allegedly scrapped the hair of the deceased and also removed her private part which he had taken to his native doctor in Ondo town for money ritual before burying her in the grave. It was learned that he was joined that night by two other suspected ritualists to kill the victim. For the six days that he was sleeping on her corpse inside the room, the suspect was reportedly spraying both insecticide and perfume to subdue the offensive odour oozing out of the decomposing corpse. A night to her death, both lovers, who started dating five years ago when they met at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, went to a restaurant for dinner and branched at a drinking joint before they retired to the lover boy’s New Oke- Aro extension residence. While the late Khadijat thought she was having a rollicking time out with her heartthrob, the lover boy was deep in thoughts on how he would snuff life out of her and within the next seven days, become stinkingly rich. But the prayers of Muslim clerics on the request of the victim’s father, who is a staunch Muslim, exposed the suspect as he became uncomfortable on the sixth day and had to confess his murderous act. He was subsequently arrested after his father invited the police, who exhumed the decomposing corpse and deposited it at the Akure Specialist Hospital. The suspect just completed his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC. However, his quest to get rich quick made him kill Khadijat after a native doctor in Ondo town reportedly informed him that the money ritual he was requesting for will require some human parts of a very close acquaintance. He, however, regrettably settled for his fiancée. The victim reportedly rushed down from her school, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko to Akure to keep a date with the suspect without informing her friends in school where she was heading to. This, however, suggested that she might have been hypnotised by the suspect. Even her parents, who live in  Akure, had no inkling that their daughter was in town. They believed she was in school writing her final year project. But by that time, the victim was already murdered and buried while the killer fiancé sent a message to her parents to fake that she was kidnapped and that they should await how much to pay for her ransom. The same fiancé equally joined them in the search for the deceased. He told the deceased’s younger sister that her sister left his house in Akure for Lagos. Yahoo Plus Club A Police source told Vanguard that the suspect confessed during interrogation that the murder was his first after he joined the Yahoo Plus Club. He alleged that two other persons, who he did not mention their identities, joined in killing the victim. Findings showed that the other accomplices are the native doctor and a friend, who introduced him into the Yahoo Plus Club. He, however, denied that he was the one that actually killed the victim, adding that after the two boys killed her, they ordered him to bring a digger and shovel to dig the grave where she was buried inside his room. The suspect confessed that he was the one that dug the grave and put her corpse into it and covered it up. He said the crime was committed when neighbours were busy watching a World Cup game, adding that he also turned on his musical system to suppress the sound of the digging. A Police source said that if the corpse had been allowed to decompose for seven days, the suspect would have become rich suddenly. Police boss speaks Briefing newsmen, Ondo State Police Commissioner, Gbenga Adeyanju described the story that the suspect was not the killer as a cock and bull story.
He said: “The Command launched an investigation immediately to unravel the mystery surrounding her sudden disappearance. However, on July 6, 2018 at about 2125hrs, the Command received an information that one Seidu Sakiru Adeyemi, 27 years, of No 17 Adegbolarin Layout Aratunsin, Akure, who was a boyfriend to the missing Khadijat, had allegedly killed her and was about to dispose of her corpse. “The Police immediately swooped on him, and on close observation of his residence, it was discovered that the suspect had actually buried the missing girl for six days and was planning to exhume and finally dispose of the remains, because according to him, he was not comfortable with the stench coming from the decomposed body as it was not properly buried. “The suspect will soon appear in court while effort is on to arrest the alleged accomplices.’’ In an interview, the father of the deceased who was her second daughter, said she was hypnotised before her gruesome murder  for rituals by her ex-boyfriend as he called the suspect.
I leave him to God — The deceased’s father when asked if he wanted justice, the father of the deceased said: “To me, I don’t want anything. God’s judgment is more than any human’s verdict. Of what use is it if he is jailed or sentenced, will that bring back my daughter?” Amongst sympathisers that had visited the deceased’s father were the immediate past governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; former political appointees, politicians across the parties, and Islamic clerics among others. The state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has commiserated with the family of the deceased.

There Is A War Of Attrition In Nigeria – Paul Enenche
User Avatar Forum: Religion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 10:14 PM - No Replies

The senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has described the killings in some parts of Nigeria as ‘a war of attrition.’

According to the cleric, the killings in the country were deliberately orchestrated by some enemies of the state with the aim of wiping out a religion or a group of people from the face of the country.

WWW.IDOMAVOICE.COM reports that Dr. Enenche made this revelation on Wednesday at the end of the three days fasting and prayer programme organised by the Christian Association if Nigeria, CAN, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja for Nigeria.

The well-attended programme had Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Rev Samson Ayokunle, Dr. Mrs. Becky Enenche, CAN President, Bishop John Praise, Very Rev. STV Adegbite, Methodist Bishop, Diocese of Ikeja, Archbishop Oche Job Methodist Archbishop, Archdiocese of Abuja and other revered ministers of the gospel.

In his sermon, Dr. Enenche noted that the senseless and ceaseless killings in the country are targeted as destroying and decimating the entity called Nigeria.

The preacher, who anchored his sermon from Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, stated that it is totally out of place to think that the ongoing battle in Nigeria is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state.

He voiced his conviction thus, “The Bible makes it clear that Christians are involved in battle consistently. Generally, the Christian life is a call unto battle; the Christian life is characterised with warfare. Identifying with Christ calls for battle. This is why the Bible says from our anchor Scripture in Ephesians 6:12 that we wrestle. Beloved, I want to let you know that whether we are interested in the battle or not, the truth is, we wrestle; whether we looked for anybody’s trouble or not, whether we are nice to people or not nice, it is important to know that we wrestle; we are involved in a fight.

“Also, it is important to know that this wrestling is a spiritual warfare; but once in a while, the battle enters the physical dimension. For example, the type of battle currently going in Nigeria has left the spiritual realm and stepped into the physical realm. This is because of the strategic nature of Nigeria in the world.

“Nigeria is a very strategic nation in the world; Nigeria is the largest black nation in the world; Nigeria has the largest Christian gatherings in the world. I don’t think that there is any nation of the earth that has the large number of the Catholic churches that we have in Nigeria; if there is, it may be South America. In Nigeria, we have great church edifices; and also God has a prophetic agenda for Nigeria.

“So, prophetically, Nigeria is God’s anchor of the end time move of the Holy Spirit; the release of missionaries from Nigeria to different nations of the world and the rapid and aggressive growth of Christianity in Nigeria are indications to show that Nigeria is strategic to the world. Christianity came into Nigeria fully around 1854 and overran the whole nation. The Enemy is not happy to see the growth of Christianity in Nigeria. This is the reason for the battle. So, we are in a wrestling as a nation on the basis of this thing.

“Now, it is important to know that nature of this battle. By my medical training, I want to let you know that the best physician is the one who knows diagnosis; until you can diagnose an issue as doctor; treatment is a waste of time. In the same way, until you can diagnose issues in the physical realm, you cannot proffer solutions.
So, what is the nature of this battle?

“It is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; a supremacy for national dominion and control
It is important to know that the battle we are facing currently in this country, Nigeria, is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; it is the battle for the supremacy of national dominion and control.

“We have heard some group of people say many times that Nigeria is their father’s land; they say that Nigeria is their father’s inheritance, so they want to take it by fighting and killing people. So, it is battle for the soul of Nigeria; a battle for supremacy and control.

“It is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria
Also, it is important to know that this battle is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria.

“This is because it is not possible to have development and progress in Nigeria amidst wars and killings. Nigeria remains the largest black nation on Earth. Nigeria is a nation to watch as far as other nations of the world are concerned; and so, when the enemy saw the greatness of Nigeria, he says, let’s destroy Nigeria. But that enemy has failed in Jesus’ Name.

“It is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state.

“We can also see that it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state. Now, I don’t want anyone to be deceived that the battle is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state. I give you an example: The two Reverend fathers that were killed in Benue State were not on any farm land; they were inside the church building and the Bandits and Jihadists went there to kill them.

“Also, Plateau State has no anti-grazing law and nobody is mentioning grazing in Plateau State but these wicked agents of darkness went to Birkin ladin, Gana Rock and other places, killed and burnt people alive. So, this battle is not about the issue of land to graze cow; rather, it is a battle for the elimination of religion freedom, tolerance and the secularism of the Nigerian state.

“It is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. Another agenda or the nature of this battle is that it is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. We have been told that there are communities in Plateau State where the occupants have been chased out; the demonic herdsmen and strangers are living in those lands now.

“We have a statistics of 54 of such villages or more where they have killed and chased people out of the villages and even renamed some of the villages or changed the names to other names. So, we are dealing with a very devious, pernicious, satanic, demonic, agenda and it shall be arrested in Jesus’ Name.

“It is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external
Also, we know that this battle is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external. First of all, from the official quarters, we heard that people came from outside the country, precisely from Libya and they are using arms to fight the nation; then we heard again that this battle is a struggle between local herdsmen and farmers.

“The third thing we heard was that they are some politicians sponsoring the killings. Beloved, in my opinions, all the three things are correct. First of all, we have external collaboration; forces from outside this country are involved in these killings. Secondly, we have people in Nigeria who are behind the killing and thirdly, we have political leadership both in authority and out of authority that are all in collaboration for a strategic agenda against the destiny of Nigeria; but in the Name of Jesus, it has already failed.

“It is a battle of what is called the war of attrition. Attrition means the process of reducing the strength of the people by sustained attack or pressure. It is to keep pressuring people until their strength reduces. When people are attacked, as they try to recover, then the attackers return to keep the pressure or fight the people until the people are wearied into submission. That is what we are faced with right now. And I want us to understand this.

“This is always the strategy of the Devil; to introduce threat and intimidation. The strategy of the Enemies is; Let us do terrible things to them; let us kill women, children, burn houses and put it on social media and everywhere, let people see it. When they do this, they will put the climate of fear on the nation.
Beloved, but our concern is, even though we have been called to fight, Scriptures make it clear that we are destined to win.

On the way forward, Dr. Enenche suggested that it was high time Nigerian drew closer to God in prayers and intercession.

His words, “It is important that from the altars, let our declarations and decrees go forth; let people know that the body of Christ is aware of killings going on in this country; it is good to tell the Devil and his agents that we are not children; even a child in kindergarten understands what is going on. From every altar, let the message of the massive killing fly like fire and then at the place of prayer, we will keep not silence until God establishes Jerusalem as praise in the earth.

“Beloved, silence equals consent. The silence of good people is wicked than the utterance of wicked people. People who know what is correct but keep quiet or do nothing about a wrong thing cause more harm than the utterance of the wicked. And we are not going to keep silence; we are going to speak from the altar, we are going to speak at the place of prayer; we are going to speak to everyone who cares to hear that Nigeria cannot be dechristianized and desecularized; Nigeria cannot be Islamized; that the force of darkness that can islamize Nigeria has not been given birth to; and we are going to speak it with audacity. God has promised us that as we speak to His Ears, He will confirm what we say (Numbers 14:28). God is waiting for us to speak so He can confirm what we say. God performs the counsel of His servant and fulfill the words of His messenger.”

On his part, CAN President, Ayokunle called on Nigerians, especially Christian leaders to take bold step and speak against the killings in the country.

Also speaking at the event, Cardinal Onayekan asked Nigerians to learn from the past and shun killings.

He also urged the federal government to rehabilitate those that have been displaced internally as a result of the killings in the country.

A student of Eyaen Secondary School, Benin, Edo State, has died after being electrocuted by the steel rod used to reinforce a utility pole.

The incident happened some minutes ago. According to an eyewitness, the utility pole had been hit by a vehicle, making the steel rods embedded in it to be exposed.

The JSS 3 student was said to have been arguing with his colleagues who accused him wrongly. They dared him to swear with any metallic object to prove his innocence.
Not knowing that the steel rods are electrified, he grabbed one in order to prove his innocence and was electrocuted immediately.

Underage Bus Driver Reportedly Kill NYSC Member & A Woman In Aba
[Image: bus_driver_osun.jpg]
An underage commercial bus driver, whose identity could be established last night, has reportedly killed a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and another woman in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.
The incident, The Nation gathered, happened on Ohanku, off Ngwa Road, in Aba South Local Government Area. Some residents told our reporter that speeding caused the killing.

It was learnt that the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran over the victims.

Investigation revealed that some conductors and mechanics use vehicles in their custody for commercial purposes, without the knowledge of the bus or car owners, to make brisk business.

It was also learnt that the underage driver had been handed over to security agents, while another account said the lad fled the scene immediately the incident happened.

The bodies of the deceased were said to have been deposited in a nearby morgue.

“The commercial bus driver was heading to Owerre-Aba when he lost control of the car and killed two persons – a man in NYSC uniform and a woman. He also crashed into a shop and part of a building. People on the scene said they warned the driver for his recklessness,” a source said.

Police Commissioner Anthony Ogbizi and the command spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), did not respond last night to the text messages sent to their phones on the incident.

Chelsea Football Club Of England Sacks Head Coach, Antonio Conte
[Image: antonio_conte.jpg]
Chelsea has finally sacked Antonio Conte and paved the way for Maurizio Sarri to replace him as the club’s new head coach. Owner Roman Abramovich has risked paying Conte his full £9million compensation bill with the Italian ready to take a year out if no big jobs become available. Abramovich held off sacking Conte to see if a job became available that would save Chelsea having to pay him off, but the club has been left with little choice but to act – despite the Italian returning to take pre-season training since Monday. News broke from Italy that Conte had been sacked and, although Chelsea has refused to comment, he officially left the club on Thursday. Unless a private agreement can be struck or Chelsea and Conte embark on a bitter legal battle, the Blues will have to pay the 48-year-old for the final year of his contract that was only improved on July 18 last year.
Sarri will now be confirmed as Conte’s successor after Chelsea finally made a breakthrough with Napoli over his release. The move from Napoli was held up after the Italian club appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their manager but refused to let Sarri out of his contract.
But progress has been made over the past 48 hours and Sarri has agreed a two-year contract with the option of a third if an agreement can be signed off with Napoli. Gianfranco Zola could also return to Chelsea as part of the backroom or technical staff.
Sarri could be followed by midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, with Chelsea willing to pay £50m, plus £7m in bonuses, for the pair. The Blues also hope to sign Aleksandr Golovin and Daniele Rugani. They are also interested in goalkeeper Alisson Becker if Thibaut Courtois decides he wants to leave.

Pastor Ashimolowo claims Libyans not responsible for killings, warns Buhari to stop blaming PDP

Pastor Ashimolowo
The Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, on Tuesday disagreed that growing killings of innocent Nigerians in some parts of Benue, Plateau and Kaduna States by herdsmen, were being perpetrated by terrorists from Libya.

Speaking during an interview in Osogbo with journalists on the sideline of a programme tagged “Building The Broken Wall” organised by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Osun State chapter, Ashimolowo emphasised that “Nigerians should vote their conscience and use their voting power in the coming elections”.
According to him, “those who govern us should please realise that Nigeria is blessed with so many resources. Let them give attention to what helps the masses instead of a lot of infighting, arguments and we waste so much time.

“I know we are pursuing and fighting corruption. I have said this three years ago. I think this government should do what is called the Pareto principle, spend 20 per cent of your time on your past pursuing those evils, but spend 80 per cent on building your future.”
Ashimolowo continued, “because no man focuses on his rearview mirror and moves fast. If you keep looking back, your speed would be slow. Corruption you would think started with the current government. No. I have a book written by Peter Enahoro on how to be a Nigerian. It was written in 1961, it is the description of today. We are not celebrating corruption, but we are saying we need better roads, electricity, economy, education and we need the engineering system of Nigeria to work and good environment for agriculture to thrive.”
While tasking the Christians to be actively involved in politics, the cleric stated that “as a 66-year-old Nigerian, born in the North, raised in the South, I beg to differ with anyone who says that the destruction of Plateau, Benue and Kaduna states is carried out by Arabs from Libya. Why did they cross Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa and all these Islamic states?”

Goodluck Jonathan Urges Caution: Over Ekiti Governorship Elec
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 04:24 PM - Replies (3)

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for caution over the activities of security agencies deployed in Ekiti ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election.
His appeal followed Wednesday’s alleged manhandling of some people, including the Governor of the State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital, allegedly by security operatives.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, the former President enjoined security personnel to act within the ambit of the laws of the land, adding that the presence of armed security operatives was meant to give voters the confidence to come out on election day and vote for candidates of their choice, and not to intimidate them.

He said: “I am appealing to the security agencies deployed to Ekiti State for the Governorship election to carry out their duties according to the laws of the land by securing the state in a manner that will enable a peaceful electoral process.

“If it is true that the State Governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose was assaulted as reported in the media, my appeal is that such should not be allowed to happen again, since the Governor’s constitutional immunity guarantees that he should be given official protection to freely conduct the business of governing the State.”

The former President further charged the Security agencies to maintain law and , as well as, prevent any development that could negatively impact on the process of deepening the nation’s democracy.

Secondus Leads Protesters To National Assembly Over Assault On Fayose
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 03:21 PM - No Replies

Uche Secondus, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led protesters to the national assembly on Thursday over the alleged brutality of PDP members, including Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti.

Accompanied by top PDP leaders, Secondus said he led the delegation to submit a petition to the lawmakers on the alleged action of the police.

Fayose broke down in tears at a PDP rally on Wednesday, accusing an unidentified policeman of slapping and kicking him.

Secondus who was received by Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, at the entrance of the national assembly, called on the leadership of the national assembly to intervene in the situation in Ekiti.

The PDP chairman said if the election is rigged in Ekiti, there would not be any election in 2019.

“Just yesterday there was a civilian coup. The Ekiti government house was seized and the governor was brutalised, detained and harmed,” he said.

“Ekiti has been militarised and policed. Over 30,000 police men are in Ekiti. The citizens of Ekiti are afraid. They are traumatized. They are harrassed and they are being guided not to come out of their homes.

“We call on international community to see and watch what is happening in Ekiti, if this is the type of democracy and election they tend to conduct by the APC and INEC that means the 2019 election is under threat and we believe that if they continue in this manner and if they rig the election in Ekiti, there won’t be an election in 2019.

“Your Excellency we have come so you can intervene – your oversight function of the national assembly – you have a right, the mandate is with you by the constitution to query and examine and carry out your oversight function of the executive.”

Secondus said the executive and security agencies are not above the law.

The chairman said they embarked on the protest because they believe in the rule of law.

After receiving a petition from Secondus, Ekweremadu said the lawmakers would ensure the neutrality of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in the Ekiti election.

$322m Abacha Loot: How Cash Transfer Programme Will Work - Osinbajo Reveals
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 03:19 PM - No Replies

...EFCC recovers N20bn, secures 42 convictions in Lagos

...If I were Buhari, I would have thrown in the towel, says Sagay

Senator Iroegbu in Abuja and Ugo Aliogo in Lagos

Quote:The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, wednesday disclosed that the cash transfer programme involving the recovered $322 million Abacha loot will be stringently monitored to ensure transparency.

This is coming as the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itsey Sagay, has said that owing to the lack of appreciation from the citizenry, he would have given up on Nigerians if he was to be in the shoe of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it recovered N20 billion from corruption suspects in Lagos State alone this week.

Osinbajo said monitors would visit the individual households that have been identified through “deliberate targeting.”

The vice president spoke in Abuja when he launched the Monitoring of Recovered Assets through Transparency and Accountability (MANTRA) Project.

It was at a roundtable organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) to mark the First African Day of Anti-Corruption.

The roundtable had the theme: “Enhancing Domestic Resources for Sustainable Development Goals by Improved Asset Recovery and Asset Return”.

Special Adviser to the President on Social Protection, Mrs Maryam Uwais, who represented the vice president, said the beneficiaries of the cash transfer are households contained in the National Social Register that was built using targeted machanisms to identify poor and vulnerable households.

PACAC Executive Secretary, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, speaking on the sidelines of the roundtable, said cash transfer programmes are done globally.

“It’s a temporary thing to bring people out of poverty and including them in social welfare. The register being used was developed by the last administration, working with the World Bank. It’s not being done on political party basis. Ekiti, Oyo and Kwara States had the framework, and that’s why they had a head start.

“Monitors go there directly to check. It’s not by calculation. If it were left to politicians, they’d put people they want. But that is not happening. The media should go and check it out. Conditional cash transfer was going on before Abacha money was returned.

“Do you know there are people who have never held N2,000 in their hands? The Swiss judgment is clear: the money should be used for Nigerian people and should be monitored by the World Bank. Based on the parameters in the MoU, nobody can steal the money unless the World Bank is complicit,” Owasanoye said.

Speaking on the message titled: “Fight Against Corruption and Attainment of Sustainable Development Goals Under the Buhari Administration”, Sagay said the Buhari administration had made tremendous progress in the anti-corruption war, including the recovery of assets valued at N1 trillion.

He however, regretted that despite these enormous achievements, some Nigerians, especially the elite are pushing a contrary narrative to frustrate the efforts for the simple fact they no longer have access to easy money, unlike under the past administrations.

To this end, he said either Buhari call the bluff of “ungrateful Nigerians” who are complaining or thrown in the towel and allow them to suffer the consequences of his failure to carry on with his anti-corruption projects.

“So a lot is going on and I said the elites, and I will always emphasise the elites, because the ordinary Nigerian is appreciative. The elites are pretending not to know what is going on; they are pretending that they are not seeing the change. They are pretending as if we are carrying on in the way, the wasteful and turbulent way this country used to be run, because they are beneficiaries of the bad system. Easy money is no longer coming to their pockets; they are now having to work for their living and therefore, they are agrieved and pretending that they don’t know that anything is happening.

“This government is a very patient government. I, personally, I am an impatient man. What if I were the head of state, I would have thrown in the towel and tell Nigerians ‘go and suffer the fate you deserve. Go and suffer the fate you were experiencing before 2015’, so that they can go back to that system of bribery, corruption, rottenness, which we have seen this country to a state of total destruction,” Sagay said.

Sagay added that “contrary to the narrative being pushed into the media, both regular and social, by the aggrieved beneficiaries of corruption, the war against corruption under the Buhari Administration has been a huge success”.
Meanwhile, the anti-graft agency has said it recovered N20 billion from corruption suspects in Lagos State alone this week.

EFCC’s Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, said it also secured 42 convictions in the state between January and July.
Magu, who was represented by EFCC Zonal Head in Lagos, Akaninyene Ezima, spoke in Lagos yesterday during an anti-corruption walk to mark the African Anti-Corruption Day with the theme ‘Africa unite against corruption.’

The walk was organised in collaboration with civil society organisations including Women Arise for Change Initiative and Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering (GIABA) among others.

Women Arise president, Joe Okei-Odumakin, urged Nigerians to speak out against corruption and keep the faith that the country would get better.

Also, a Federal High Court in Lagos wednesday authorised the EFCC to sieze N200 million allegedly kept in several commercial banks by two military officers and their three firms.

Justice Sule Hassan ordered that the sum be forfeited to the federal government, pending the conclusion of investigation as to their origins.

The officers are: Adamu Bello Argungu and John Onimisi Ozigi, while their firms are: Falsal & Co Global Services Nigeria Ltd; Diamond Head Ventures & Development Company Ltd; and Sweetex Bureau De Change Ltd.

In a related development, Magu has urged Nigerians to take ownership of the anti-corruption war to ensure maximum success and ensure a better society.

He made this call yesterday in Abuja during anti-corruption walk across the country, as part of activities to mark the 2018 African Anti-Corruption Day

Led by Magu, the walk which took-off from the EFCC’s Old Head Office, Wuse 2, Abuja en route Unity Fountain terminated at Eagles Square, Abuja.

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed its state executive committee members, leaders and stakeholders to march peacefully along the streets in protest to the police commands in all states of the federation.

The peaceful protest according to the party is to make clear its misgivings at what it labeled “the police brutality” in Ekiti State on Wednesday, which led to the Governor Ayo Fayose allegedly manhandled by the Police.

In a late statement issued the PDP National Organising Secretary, Colonel Austin Akobundu (retd) yesterday, the party tasked all state chapters to deliver a protest letter to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris through their respective Commissioners of Police.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) has directed that all state chairmen mobilize former NWC Members, Board of Trustees, BoT Members, former Governors, all State Exco Members, Exco members of the party at all levels and stakeholders with our teaming supporters, to embark on peaceful procession to the State Police Command in their respective States to protest the police brutality that happened today (yesterday) in Ekiti State.

“The protest march must begin by 10AM simultaneously across the Nation.

“All State Chapters are to deliver a protest letter to the Inspector General Of Police through the Commissioner of Police,” the statement reads.

Senate Rejects Melaye's Motion To Request Details Of Officers Deployed To Ekiti

Drama as Senate rejects motion to request names, service numbers of 30, 000 officers deployed to Ekiti

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday rejected a motion to request details of the 30, 000 police officers deployed for the Ekiti governorship election.

The police on Sunday said it drafted 30, 000 of its officers to provide security in the election slated for Saturday.

The matter was first raised at the Senate on Tuesday when the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and Deputy Majority Leader, Ibn Na’Allah, questioned the deployment on the ground that such were not drafted to places under attack across the country.

On Wednesday, Dino Melaye (Kogi West), asked his colleagues to request for the names, service numbers and details of their deployment for the election.

“As a Nigerian, I am appalled that Nigeria Police can provide 30, 00 policemen for a 16 local government state. Then one begins to wonder that to conduct a presidential election, you will need 30, 000 policemen times 36 state plus the FCT. It means we will need 11 million plus policemen. The implication is that we will have to go to other West African states to hire policemen,” he said.

He was cut short by Francis Alimikhena who asked the presiding officer, Ike Ekweremadu, to cause Mr Melaye to go back to the seat allocated to him. He was ruled out of order.

Mr Melaye continued, “I wonder why the crises in Zamfara, Chibok, Taraba, Benue have not attracted 30, 000 policemen. Where the life of Nigerians have been consistently killed.”

He was again interrupted by Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central) who, citing order 11, asked Mr Ekweremadu to return Mr Melaye to his seat.
“A senator may only speak from the seat allotted to him provided that the President of the Senate may change the allocation from time to time,” she read.

She was also ruled out of order by Mr Ekweremadu

“The President of the Senate allowed him to sit in that place in the presence of every senators, so, I respectfully ruled you out of order,” Mr Ekweremadu said.
Mr Melaye again continued.

“Election is very important but not as important as the lives of Nigerians as enshrined in the Constitution. We will not as senators allow democracy to turn to militocracy.”

He said the Government House in Ekiti and campaign office of PDP candidate were under siege by policemen.

The senator also reported to his colleagues that he had been denied of security since the start of his ordeal with the Nigeria Police.

“I want to announce also to the Senate that while we ask that Nigerians be defended, we also ask that we be defended. I announced that the police withdrew policemen attached to me even before I was arrested. Till date Mr President, I have no single security. I applied to the Civil Defence two months ago, Civil Defence again have been instructed not to provide me with security. As a citizen, not even as a senator, Mr President by his oath of office is to protect me.”

In his prayers, he asked that “the police furnish the Senate with the names, police service number of 30, 000 policemen in Ekiti, including where they are deployed from and deployed to.”

He also wanted ‘the Senate to ask the police and Civil Defence to provide security’ for him.
His first prayer was countered by Kabir Marafa (Zamfara-APC) who said requesting for details of officers is not a matter within the Senate’s jurisdiction.

“I don’t think we can reduce this chamber to doing police work because what Dino Melaye requested for is entirely the business of the police. From the time we start asking to give us names and numbers of policemen they post to carry out certain responsibilities, I think we have reduced this chamber to the lowest, barest minimum therefore, I oppose this prayer.”

After two voice votes, the lawmakers rejected the prayer to request details of officers in Ekiti while endorsing the call to allow Dino Melaye access security.

ERGP Focus Labs Target $9.25b Investments In Manufacturing, Processing
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 09:46 AM - No Replies

The Federal government’s Economic Recovery and Growth [ERGP] Focus labs has set a target of $9.24 billiion revenue inflows for private sector investments in manufacturing and processing industries in Nigeria expected to create over 300,000 jobs across the six geo-political zones by 2020.

This, in addition, will be backed by over $400million government’s investment to be injected in six entry points of food, manufacturing, textiles, minerals, petrochemicals, manufacturing and the construction of new industrial parks.

A financial expert Dr. Nosa James Igbinadolo gave the details in an interview with The Guardian at an investment forum, Tuesday, in Abuja.

Igbinadolo said that the abundant availability of raw materials, labour, land, market access and strategic location in the gulf of guinea makes Nigeria an ideal manufacturing hub.

According to him, despite being Africa’s most populous country, the contribution of the manufacturing sector to GDP is lower than Morocco, Kenya, Egypt, Mauritius and South Africa, a situation he describes as unfortunate.

He stated, ‘’Growth in the sector is crucial to achieving a diversified, sustainable and inclusive economy, other than Agriculture, it is the sector that has the most capacity to create massive job growth as it currently employs only 12 percent of labour force’’.

He explained that the influence of policy on the manufacturing and processing sectors is particularly acute adding, ‘’The unreliable supply of FOREX, high cost of accessing finance and regulated pricing has created low policy perception for investors’’.

He said that in view of the above the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as well as the Ministry of agriculture will jointly execute projects developed at the Labs to plug the gaps between raw material producers and manufacturers,.

‘’Towards strengthening collaboration between manufacturers and raw material producers, a petrochemical project conceived at the labs has been granted gas allocation by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, a gas cylinder manufacturing factory was also linked with a 20 Megawatt power plant which will form part of a newly established industrial park’’..

He noted that the country’s growth is existentially tied to the growth of the private sector stressing ‘’enhancing collaboration between various actors in the Manufacturing value chain presents a giant opportunity for significant growth for the sector and the nation’s economy’’.

  Afreximbank Invests $17bn In Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 07-12-2018, 09:33 AM - No Replies

The Africa Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) disclosed yesterday that its investment in the Nigerian economy stands at over $17 billion .

Afreximbank President, Dr. Benedict Oranmah, who spoke at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Anglophone Regional Office, in Abuja, stated that the decision to invest in the Nigerian economy was in appreciation of the critical role the nation played in the bank’s formation, and the demonstration of a strong support by strengthening its capital base.

He said, “Approvals to various corporate organisations including indigenous oil firms and banks and government entities, are in excess of $17 billion.”

According to Oranmah, the Regional Office would strengthen closer and continuous relationship between the bank and Nigerian government entities and businesses.

In her address, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, said Nigeria invested an initial $50 million, becoming one of the largest shareholders of the Bank which helped to attract the interest of others in the equity participation of the Bank.

“Just like many other member countries of the Bank, Nigeria continues to support the Bank’s capital mobilisation by reinvesting its dividends in the Bank’s capital.

“Since inception, the bank has been very active in Nigeria. This is reflected by the institution’s consistent support to corporate and government entities through financing and advisory services, and significant financial and technical supports to Nigeria, with the country’s share of total loans averaging more than 40 per cent of the Bank’s aggregate,” Adeosun said.

The minister expressed optimism that the construction of the Regional Office complex would also create job opportunities for Nigerian youth, generate business opportunities for entrepreneurs to venture into the bank, and by extension, financial support to our private sectors.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 12TH JULY.

RULE WITH WORDS

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

God spoke the Word in recreating and restoring order to the earth after it became a dark chaotic mass. In the midst of the darkness and chaos, He said, “Let there be light,” and light became (Genesis 1:3). The Word that gave light to the world became flesh, and dwelt amongst us in the person of Jesus.

The Lord Jesus walked the streets of Galilee, Capernaum, and Jerusalem, as the Word in human form. He lived as the Word and did everything He did with, and through the Word. He healed the sick with the Word. He raised the dead with the Word, and cast out devils with the Word. He only had to speak words, and miracles ensued.

Recall how He raised Lazarus from the dead, a man who had been dead and buried for four days and who surely must have begun to decompose. When Jesus called out, “…Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43), the man who had been dead came out alive! How awesome! Jesus lived and triumphed with words, showing us how to live in this world.

When He needed to feed the multitude, and all that was available was a little boy’s lunch (five loaves of bread and two fish), He spoke words (Matthew 14:17-21). He took the loaves of bread, and fish and invoked the power of multiplication into them and they became more than enough to feed five thousand men, women and children not counted, with twelve baskets as leftovers.

He’s given us the same life wherein we triumph with words. He said in Mark 11:23, “You shall have what you say.” You can speak life to your job, finances, health and family and cause miracles to happen. When you speak over any situation, your words prevail. You’re a king, and where the word of a king is, there’s power (Ecclesiastes 8:4). Rule your world and dominate circumstances with words.

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, you’re the true Light that lights every man that comes into the world. You’re the living Word of God, full of grace and reality! The Word of God on my lips brings healing, prosperity and deliverance; I walk in victory today. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY:

Ecclesiastes 8:4 Where the word of a king [is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

12TH JULY.

I affirm that the Lord is my source! I have the capability to function like Him in the earth; for I was made in His image and in His likeness. My spirit is enlightened to grasp the deeper truths and higher revelations of God’s Word. I have a teachable spirit, and my words are anointed with power because I am filled with the fullness of God! The Rhema of God that changes things is in my heart and in my mouth today, and in the Name of Jesus, I am riding on the high places of the earth, and taking possession of what belongs to me in Christ. Hallelujah! I exude God’s righteousness, peace, and joy. Out of my innermost being, I bring forth good things.

I belong in God’s superior class of divine beings; therefore I look beyond the natural realm of existence to my heavenly rights, blessings, and provisions in Christ Jesus! I recognize today and take hold of my divine right to live in super-abundance, health, victory, success, dominion, and excellence! I and the Father are one and I have the right to reign and rule over the circumstances of life and exercise dominion over satan. I am seated together with Christ in the place of power; far above all principalities, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come. I live in dominion over sin, sickness and infirmities, and every opposing force, accusation or hindrance. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

Lai Mohammed Launches Campaign Against Fake News In Nigeria - Details
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 10:55 PM - No Replies

According to NAN, A National Campaign Against Fake News has been launched in Nigeria by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who described the phenomenon a time bomb that can detonate with deadly consequences if left unchecked.

At a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister also described fake news a a global epidemic that could be worse than all the plagues that the world has recorded put together, a clear and present danger to global peace and security, and a threat to democracy.

He said the fake news phenomenon is capable of undermining confidence in the media, adding: ”Once the people lose confidence in the media, the media and the society are in trouble.”

Alhaji Mohammed said the essence of the campaign is to ”sensitize all Nigerians to the dangers posed to the peace and security, and indeed the corporate existence of Nigeria by the phenomenon, and the fact that each and every Nigerian has a role to play in curtailing the spread of fake news”.

He explained that though the federal government has been calling national attention to the issue of fake news and hate speeches since last year, ”the timing of the launch is also not unconnected to the role of fake news in aggravating the various crises in the country as well as the need to check this phenomenon ahead of the 2019 elections.”

The Minister said the government will use all the information dissemination tools at its disposal, work with both the traditional and social media, as well as the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to sensitize Nigerians.

He said the campaign will, however, not involve the use of coercion and censorship, but appealed to the media to lead the campaign, and to Nigerians not to share any news or message unless they can vouch for its source and authenticity

Citing instances from around the world to illustrate the dangers posed by fake news, Alhaji Mohammed said a recent study by researchers at the Ohio State University in the US concluded that Russian interference and the fake news it promoted probably played a significant role in depressing Hilary Clinton’s support on election day during the 2016 presidential elections in the US.

He also said that in India, about a dozen people have been killed in the past six weeks just because of fake news or hoax messages, noting: ”The victims were lynched after they were falsely accused of child abduction based on fake messages circulated via the social media platform, WhatsApp.”

The Minister said that last week, a national newspaper in Nigeria reported on its front page that a court has ordered the National Assembly to begin impeachment of Buhari, which was not the case.

”The problem with that news item is that it is fake news. According to the certified true copy of the order, the Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court in Osogbo ordered and I quote: ‘The applicants are hereby granted leave to issue and bring an Application for the order of Mandamus to compel 1st to 3rd Respondents to start impeachment proceedings against the 4th Respondent, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’. This was manipulated to read that the court has given the go-ahead for the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the President. Fake News,” he said

The launch, which was sponsored by the NTA, FRCN, and three newspapers – The Nation, Vanguard and Leadership – was attended by all the heads of the media parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), representatives of the security agencies, social media practitioners and journalists.

Text Of Press Conference By The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) On The Unsavory Situation In Ekiti, Being Orchestrated By The APC-Led Federal Government To Scuttle The July 14, 2018 Governorship Election In The State.

Ekiti: Democracy Under Attack In Nigeria!

Gentlemen of the press, our democracy has finally come under heavy attack. You will recall that the PDP had earlier alerted that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) are on self-succession cruise to turn our nation into a fascist state.

Recently, the APC factional National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, boasted that they were going to crush the opposition. Today, the siege has began.

The situation in Ekiti State has reinforced the signpost of a manifest desire by the APC and its leaders to subdue the resilient spirit of Nigerians and set up a totalitarian regime in our country.

This morning, in its desperation to forcefully take over Ekiti State, the APC-led Federal Government deployed armed police personnel led by one Compol Mopol Echel Echel, who blocked the Ekiti State Government House, attacked and placed the democratically elected governor of Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose, under house arrest. At the moment, no one goes in or out of the government house.

The invading police squad sacked the official security at the Government House, fired sporadically into the premises during which Governor Fayose was beaten up by Policemen and brought down by volleys of teargas while several others were injured.

This, we have been informed, isis part of the ‘order from above’, in line with the earlier boast by the Buhari-led APC, to “cage” Governor Fayose ahead of the July 14, 2018 Ekiti governorship election, so as to grant their agents a field day to rig the election.

In fact, we have been made aware that the invasion was a plot to assassinate Governor Fayose and blame it on accidental discharge by one of the policemen.

The PDP marks this siege on an elected governor and a government house as a recipe for violence; a complete attack on our democratic order and direct assault on the corporate existence of Ekiti and her people as a federating part of our nation.

We know that this is part of the desperate effort by the APC-led Federal Government to intimidate, subjugate, frighten and overawe the people and unleash a rigging mechanism for the election.

Information available to the PDP reveals that part of the rigging design includes the deploying of an APC state governor in each of the local government areas across the state to coordinate the plot.

We also know that the APC rally on Tuesday, which was boycotted by the people of Ekiti State, was a gimmick to import thugs from neigbouring states. Our supporters, who have been placed at red alert have been monitoring all strange faces already milling around in various local government areas in the state.

Also our intelligence reveals that the 30,000 policemen as well as some compromised military personnel deployed to Ekiti state are being positioned to embark on mass arrest and harassment of Ekiti citizens with the view to frightening them and preventing them from participating in the election.

Furthermore, some heavily armed DSS personnel are being deployed to work with some compromised officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to smuggle in preloaded card reader machines and result sheets, to be exchanged in
advance, which they will attempt to deliver to APC agents.
The PDP is fully aware of the actors in this heinous plot including some directors in INEC, particularly in its Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department, who have been holding clandestine meetings with APC leaders.

We are also not unaware that the stage is being set for the APC to use INEC to announce a pre-determined result in Ekiti State governorship election.

The PDP however states, in very clear and unequivocal terms, that all these machinations will end in vain as nobody, no matter the evil device used, be it harassment, threats, arrests or even murder, can subjugate the people of Ekiti State and forcefully take over their leadership in this election without their consent.

Let the world know that the people of Ekiti State cannot be cowed or frightened and that they are not ready or willing to allow anybody to subvert their determined will to elect a leader of their choice.

We want all to know that Ekiti people are fully determined to take their destiny in their hands on July 14, 2018 and no bullet or oppressor’s whip can stop them. They are fully ready now, more than ever before, to face all threats and harassment and to resist any attempt to forcefully take over their state.

We therefore warn all thugs imported from neigbouring states to note that they are in Ekiti at their own peril. Ekiti people and residents know themselves and will never allow any stranger to participate in the electoral process. Any attempt by anybody to test the will of the people might be faced with dire consequences.

Furthermore, our ‘eyes’ have been stationed in every polling unit, every collation center as well as every exit and entry point across the state and those seeking to rig the election must be sure they will be stopped in their trail with every available instrument in a democracy.

It is a settled fact that Ekiti State is a well-known stronghold of the PDP and we will not, in anyway, accept anything short of free, fair and credible election, abundantly reflecting the will of the people. Anything to the contrary might attract very terrible consequences.

Awfully, the Ekiti action is a wild attempt by the incompetent President Muhammed Buhari and his dysfunctional APC to kidnap our democracy.

Finally, we invite the entire world to note how the APC and INEC are stoking crisis and violence in Ekiti State and to hold them responsible should any harm befall Governor Fayose and should there be any breakdown of law and order before, during and after the poll.

We believe in the rule of law; we believe in one man, one vote.

We must stop this siege against our democracy!

Buhari’s Government Most Corrupt Since 1999 – Atiku
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 10:17 PM - No Replies

A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has described the present federal government of President Muhamadu Buhari as the most corrupt since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999.

Mr Abubakar spoke in Abakaliki on Tuesday while addressing supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the state secretariat of the party. He was in Ebonyi to continue his campaign to emerge PDP presidential candidate in 2019.

He said the only achievement the All Progressive Congress (APC) -led government can boast of is fighting corruption; but argued that fighting corruption is not the only responsibility of government.

“What is happening today in our country is in contravention with all our provisions of our constitution. In our federation, we are supposed to have an inclusive government but you know that this federal government is not inclusive.

“You know that this federal government is not united, you know that this federal government is incompetent, you know that this federal government is more corrupt than any government we have come through since 1999.

“So, let nobody come and deceive you on corruption. They are more corrupt than any government that I know since 1999 and we shall be revealing their level of corruption. Fighting corruption alone is not the only responsibility of government.

“Our unemployment has accelerated high and there has never been a time we had more than 11million people, young people, young women thrown out of job. Today, we have more than 11 million unemployed people. Today, we have witnessed much insecurity in this country. Today, we are witnessing high inflation the APC government has brought to us in this country,” he said.

Mr Abubakar told the mammoth crowd that he was in the state to seek their support to defeat President Buhari in 2019.

He said the coalition formed by PDP and about 37 other parties was the first step in voting out the president in next year’s general election.

“Yesterday, 40 political parties came together to meet themselves to present one candidate for presidential election. The coalition is going to have one candidate for presidential election, one candidate for governor, one candidate for senator, one candidate for House of Reps, one candidate for House of Assembly, one candidate for party chairman.

“We need this alliance because what I have seen in the last three years is what I have not seen in the last 35 years in this country. Therefore, we are determined, we are united and we are ready to make sure that in the next election whether state or national or federal, we will kick out APC in every state in this country.

“We have never experienced the level of poverty we are facing today. They are selling crude oil around $70 dollars per barrel, when we came in 1999 it was around $10 per barrel.

“I want to assure you that your party is ready to take that power but we can only do so through your support and your unity of purpose. You are our bosses, if you tell us to go right we will go, if you tell us to go left we will go; but at the end of the day you must accept responsibility if you take us to the wrong direction,” the aspirant said.

While receiving him, Governor David Umahi said the South-east will negotiate the 2019 presidency and that the zone will vote for a presidential candidate who will develop the zone.

“The people of Ebonyi State, the people of South-east will sit down with anybody that is asking our votes to rule this country to negotiate. South east will not follow wrong path again. Anybody that wants the votes of South-east will sit on the table with the leaders of South-east, we shall agree, we shall write it, we shall sign it, we shall seal it.

“At a time I am the chairman of South-east governors’ forum, we shall come together and all the areas of marginalisation that we have been talking about, it is a time to discuss with our PVCs. The votes of the South-east will be decided by the leaders of South-east and any leader that is in agreement with our terms, we will follow the person,” he said.

Mr Umahi said Mr Abubakar has all it takes to be‎ president of the country.

Obasanjo: APC Government Intimidating Judges Ahead Of Elections
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 04:32 PM - No Replies

Quote:Former President Olusegun Obsanjo has accused the government of President Muhammadu Buhari of intimidating judges to do the bidding of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on election matters.

Obasanjo, who has been critical of Buhari lately, also alleged that anti-graft agencies were being used to clamp down on the opposition.

He spoke in Abuja during at a colloquium to mark the 70th birthday of Josephine Anenih, former minister for women affairs and social development.

“Some institutions created for normal administration and dispensation of Justice, like the EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the ministry of justice are being directed to witch-hunt and pursue political opponents,” he said.

“The use of intimidation, violence and physical attacks have started in some states. It is understood that judges are already being intimidated so as to prepare them to do the ruling party’s bidding in election petitions. All there are visible in today’s practice of democracy in Nigeria.”

Although, the former president did not mention those whose voices are being suppressed, he maintained that democracy allows for the opposition to be heard as it is a government of the people by the people.

“For me, that after almost 20 years of the beginning of the present dispensation, it has not been derailed, is enough a development in progress, even though there are many unpalatable practises and dangerous signs that have shown their ugly heads, which is the strongest indication that our democracy is alive but, it cannot be said to be hale and hearty. Practitioners of democracy must be democrats, if you have a lot to be desired,” he said.

Touching on women’s involvement in governance, Obasanjo said Buhari’s government is yet to meet the 35 affirmative action.

He also called for an amendment of the 1999 constitution to include 40 percent slots for women in government.

“In this present administration, there are 15 women members in the house of representatives. It is not only unacceptable but makes mockery of gender balance. There must be amendment of our constitution, not to allow any gender to have less than 40 percent in any parliament,” he said.

“The health of our democracy can be judged by the participation of women. Democracy is a system of government that allows team spirit and debate before decisions are reached; it is a government for all citizens to benefit without fear or favour.”

Barren Lady Who Stole Another Woman’s Baby Revealed How She Did It. Photos
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 12:53 PM - No Replies

A 26-year old house wife, who crossed the borders of two states, Ogun and Oyo, to steal a three-week old baby has been nabbed by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Abeokuta.

The suspect, Bunmi Adebayo of Magboro near Mowe, a suburb of Ogun State, who had feigned pregnant to her husband, surreptitiously stole the baby boy from his teenage mother in the ancient town of Ife in Osun State.

She was said to have got back home and informed her husband, one Adegboyega, that their expected baby had been delivered, and planned his christening on Tuesday, July 9.

The apparently happy but inquisitive husband, out of curiosity and in obeisance to culture, demanded for the placenta, thereby throwing the child thief into disarray, a development the man became uncomfortable and suspicious of.

The husband quickly intimated operatives of the FSARS, who raced to her Magboro residence and arrested her.

On interrogation, Bunmi owned up to the effect that she actually stole the baby, attributing her action to the desire to please her husband. She later blamed the devil, saying she was under one form of spell and another.

Meanwhile, the dispossessed mother, Eniola Odebode had, since the ugly incident on Tuesday, July 2, 2018, been gripped by sadness, resulting in her being hospitalized.

Consequently, on the order of the state Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed', a call was put across to the police in Ife, where the matter was initially reported.

A team of police operatives, led by one Sergeant Kolade Samson, was detached to Ogun State, for transfer of the case to Osun.

Accompanying the police detectives were parents of the tot, Peter and Eniola, who were full of praises for the police, for a job well done

Narrating how she perfected the child theft, the suspect said: "I went to Ife/Modakeke Junction where I met the lady with her mother, and greeted them. I then told them I was in a dare need of an apartment for rent. The two women, out of pity, volunteered to help me out. But for some reasons, the lady didn't want to back the baby, for which I tricked her to let me back him. While her mother and I went on one motorbike, she mounted another one, just to show me the apartment. When we alighted in front of the house, we waited for the lady to no avail. I then asked the mother if she had money on her to pay the bike man. Her response was in the negative. It was then I told her to let me go to an ATM gallery, to cash some amount of money. That was how I bolted with the baby

"On getting home, information reached my husband that I had been delivered of a baby boy. He came and demanded for the placenta. When I was not forthcoming with it, he suspected that I must have stolen the baby. I almost fought him for accusing me of child theft. It was thereafter, I was arrested", Bunmi stated.

NASS Invasion: Omo-Agege Guilty Of Treason, Reps Declare
.Ask Senate To Suspend Him For 180 Legislative Days .Prosecute Him Immediately

[Image: Senator-Ovie-Omo-Agege.jpg]Ovie Omo-Agege
Abuja – The House of Representatives on Tuesday said that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege representing Delta Central in the Senate committed treason by leading thugs into the Senate chamber on April 18 during which the mace was stolen.
The House which upheld the recommendations of the National Assembly joint ad hoc committee on the invasion of the Senate chamber by hoodlums also called on the Senate leadership to immediately suspend Omo-Agege for 180 legislative days.
Consequent upon the treason charge, the report also called on the National Assembly management to institute legal proceedings against the erring senator with a view to prosecuting him for treasonable felony under section 14(2) of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges Act).

Recall that the Senate on April 18 was invaded while it was in session by men allegedly led by Senator Omo-Agege during which time the mace was stolen.
The 10-point recommendation was adopted after the co-chairman of the panel, Betty Apiafi (PDP, Rivers), laid the report during Tuesday’s plenary.

Considering the report, lawmakers further called for the immediate prosecution of Omo-Agege and six other suspects on charges of treasonable felony, assault occasioning harm, conspiracy to steal and actual theft of the mace.
They also resolved that Omo-Agege be prosecuted for incitement and breach of peace inside the Senate chamber and contempt ex-facie.
Taking the matter at the Committee of the Whole chaired by Deputy Speaker, Yussuff Lasun, members urged the National Assembly management to review existing security operational procedure to enable the sergeant-at-arms take the lead in providing security in the complex.
Also, the House recommended for special compensation of five staff who did their best to retrieve the mace but were overpowered by the invading thugs.
It commended Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu for refusing to be intimidated by the invasion and upholding his oath of office.
The House, however, stood down one of the recommendations to the effect that it had been overtaken by events. The recommendation deals with the abrogation of the Parliamentary Support Group which activities pitched the senator against the Senate, saying that the group no longer exists in the legislature.

The recommendations read as follows: “The immediate suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for 180 legislative sitting days in line with section 14(2) of the Legislative Houses (Power and Privileges) Act, 2017.
“The immediate prosecution of Senator Omo-Agege and six other suspects for treasonable felony, assault, occasioning harm, conspiracy to steal and actual theft of the mace, the symbol authority of the parliament.
“That Senator Omo-Agege be prosecuted for incitement and breach of peace in the chamber of the Senate and contempt ex-facie.
“The prosecution of Senator Omo-Agege and the six others for obstructing and assaulting officers of the National Assembly in the course of their duty contrary to section 14(1)© of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges).
“That the Nigerian police should conclude its investigation on the issue with a view to bringing those found culpable into custody.
“That the Legislative House (Powers and Privileges) Act should be amended to clearly vest the power of maintaining peace and order within the chamber and precinct of legislative house in the sergeant-at-arms of any legislative house.
“That members should accord the security operatives the required courtesy and cooperation to enable them discharge their responsibility effectively and efficiently.
“Commends the House of Representatives, the international community, the press/media and other well-meaning individuals and groups for their show of support on the side of the Senate when democracy was threatened.
“Commends and recommends for special compensation staff of the Senate chamber, namely Sandra Davou, Chuks Egemuka and Hussaini Yaei as well as Timothy Omale and Jacob James Idoko of the House of Representatives chamber who did their best to retrieve the mace but were overpowered by the thugs.
“Commends the Deputy Senate President and the entire Senate for refusing to be intimidated by the invasion and upholding their oath of office as prescribed in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999(as amended).”

Bank stocks post N320bn loss in Q2

Bank stocks post N320bn loss in Q2
[Image: Trading-floor-of-the-NSE-stocks.png]
Investors in banks quoted on the main board and premium board of Nigeria’s stock market reported a cumulative loss of about N320 billion in the second quarter ended June (April-June) 2018, following sustained profit takings despite fair earnings results, improvement of micro-economy and gradual stability being recorded in foreign exchange.
Checks by New Telegraph revealed that the stocks recorded a loss of N320 billion or 8.63 per cent to close at N3.389 trillion in market capitalisation on the last trading day of June 30. This is against opening figure of N3,709 trillion at the closing of trading on March 31.
Investors remained bearish in the equities market, as the market capitalisation and All Share Index (ASI) recorded year-to-date loss of about N1.126 trillion or -7.77 per cent.

Managing Director, Crane Securities Limited, Mr. Mike Eze, attributed the depletion in the price of securities in the Nigerian stock market to profit taking by investors to increase capital gains, speculations and market hearsay on political tension in Nigeria.
Eze, however, believes the speculation about the political tension in the country will fizzle out very soon, as it was just a mere rumour, adding that the effect of the political tension will be more brazen at the turn of 2019.
Nonetheless, despite an improving macro-economic environment and a semblance of policy stability, Nigeria’s financial markets would likely be steered by the fallout of electoral activities and rising global interest rates, financial analysts at Vetiva Research have said.
The experts, in their H2 outlook, said the equity market has been hit by pre-election jitters, with foreign investors moving to the side-lines and is expected to perform tepidly in H2’18.

They noted that comparable multiples with peers suggest the Nigerian equity market remains undervalued and they maintain a strongly positive post-election outlook on Nigerian equities.
“Meanwhile, as late budget passage, pre-election spending, and food price pressure induce higher inflation at year-end, we project a 100bps yield uptick in H2’18,” the analysts said.
“Beyond 2018, government’s shift from the domestic debt market, Nigeria’s potential re-inclusion into the JP Morgan Bond Index and retreating inflation provide a case for longer-term yield moderation.

“Many of our 2018 forecasts have been downgraded, though remain above 2017 estimates. 2018 GDP growth is projected at 1.9 per cent y/y (previous: 2.4 per cent y/y), compared to 0.9 per cent y/y in 2017.
The dimmer picture begins with the oil sector as infrastructure integrity issues prevent Nigeria from producing at capacity, whilst oil prices are expected to trend slightly lower in H2’18 on the back of rising output.
“We expect to see some policy support from the recently passed 2018 budget (June 20), though the imminent 2019 elections may complicate its effect.

Indeed, we expect elections to dominate near-term activities, with election spending boosting the economy through government and consumer spending, but also inducing greater inflationary pressure.
“The latter effect underpins our view that monetary policy status quo will persist until the elections.
Impending elections are also likely to induce greater economic uncertainty and distract policy and governance at the tail-end of the year, neither of which is positive for confidence or investment. In terms of electoral activities, we do not anticipate any unusual changes to peace and stability, even as we expect militant activity to increase ahead of the 2019 polls.”
Besides, they said: “The Nigerian economy did not fare as well as expected in the first half of 2018 (Q1’18 GDP growth: 2.0 per cent y/y vs. Vetiva and Consensus forecasts of 3.4 per cent y/y and 2.6 per cent y/y, respectively).

Weakness in the services sector (c.60 per cent of Nigerian economy) was unsurprising in light of still-weak consumer wallets, but the slowdown in agriculture was a real concern – particularly as it may be reflecting the negative impact of escalating violence in the Middle Belt region

Na’allah blasts Buhari govt for drafting 30,000 policemen to Ekiti

Nigeria’s Deputy Senate Leader, Ibn Na’allah on Tuesday lampooned the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over the drafting of 30,000 police personnel to Ekiti state for governorship election, leaving other parts of the country under the grip of insecurity without adequate police protection.
Speaking on the floor of the Senate while contributing to the debate on a bill to repeal the Police Act, he said it is quite unfortunate that the Nigeria Police have conditioned their minds to do what he called “korokoro eye service”.

Na’allah queried the executive for rushing to over-police an election exercise allegedly because of its interest while killings go on in other places without prompt action.

He said, “You recall that over 30,000 police was drafted to Ekiti while there were killings in Zamfara and we cannot see 3,000 to maintain peace.

“APC is our party and I represent my Senatorial district on the party, but it is not in our character to draft such a huge number of policemen for elections.

“Unfortunately, the Nigeria Police have made up their minds to carry out such eye service”, the lawmaker maintained.

Meanwhile, Senator Francis Alimekhena, in his contribution to the debate, harped on the lack of skill among policemen in handling of guns,.

He explained that policemen cannot handle A-K47 due to obsolete Act which was promulgated in 1949 by the Colonial masters.

He insisted that the Act should be revealed to pave way for the training of police personnel to combat contemporary crimes of kidnappings and other forms of vices.

Yahaya Bello: We'll Tame Fayose On Saturday, Doesn't Have Monopoly Of Stupidity
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 12:10 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Executive Governor of Kogi state, Mr. Yahaya Bello has apparently challenged the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose to a “Stupidity” contest.

He made this challenge at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Ekiti State while campaigning on behalf of the party candidate, Kayode Fayemi.

While addressing the crowd, he regretted not being around when it was reported that the Governor of Ekiti state had allegedly disrupted a peace parley organised by INEC in the state earlier in the week.

He assured the crowd that they will not be intimidated by Ayodele Fayose because “Nobody has a monopoly of stupidity, we shall tame him” which could literally be interpreted as having a substantial share of stupidity.

“I want to talk, I want to yarn. There are two categories of people I want to address here today. First, the Nigerian youth, secondly, the Kogi citizens that are living in Ekiti state. Yesterday, we entered into a covenant with Nigerian youth in Ekiti state. When we were coming yesterday from Kogi state, we decided to come by road to address my people.

He continued his address further by tracing kogi ancestry and how they had settled in Ekiti state a long time ago which confirms that they are also stakeholders in the state and he was there on a legitimate mission.

“Our grandfather, great grandfathers, fathers and mothers for over 100 years lived in Ekiti state. And as such, more than 75% of the farm centres are occupied by the people of Kogi state. In fact, it means, wherever we voted, it is surely victory. Exactly the way we did it in Ondo state, we are going to repeat it here in Ekiti state”

On the issue of the disrupted stakeholders meeting, the kogi state governor said referring explicitly to the Ekiti State Governor,

“We heard that there was stakeholders meeting and there is someone called Fayose, and he disrupted it. Wallahi, he is lucky that I was not there. Anyway, that one is by-gone. Saturday, we will send him packing from governance. I will be here with you. Nobody will intimidate you.

He continued further addressing the APC governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi,

“Your Excellency, I have already entered into covenant with them and they have promised me that they will not be intimidated, that somebody does not have monopoly of stupidity. We shall tame him on Saturday.”

The Ekiti State gubernatorial election is scheduled for July 14

Fayose Replies Yahaya Bello On Monopoly Of Stupidity Comment (Video)

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has described his Kogi State counterpart, Yahaya Bello as a “small boy” who is not a product of true democracy.

In reaction to a statement made by Bello at the mega rally of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Fayose said thugs imported into Ekiti State by the Kogi state governor will not help the cause of APC governorship candidate on election day.

The outgoing Ekiti state governor said Bello is a small boy who is trying to pay back those who rigged him into office.

He encouraged Bello to learn from Ekiti before leaving the state.

“He is a small boy, I don’t want to join issues with him. But tell him to learn from Ekiti when he is going back. He should see that flyover, there is nothing like that in Kogi.

“There is no good road in Kogi. When you are coming from Ondo state, there is no good road until you get to Ekiti. When you are coming from Kogi, there is no good road until you get to Ekiti.

“Tell Yahaya Bello that I cannot continue to reply the dog in my house. Yeye Bello is a small boy, he has no experience, he is an ordinary driver,” he said.

During the APC rally, Bello said Ayodele Fayose is lucky that he was not there when Fayose allegedly disrupted stakeholders meeting of political parties on Monday.

“Nobody has monopoly of stupidity. We shall tame him on Saturday,” Bello said.

An interpretation of Bello’s statement would mean that he plans to “share in the stupidity”.

Mrs. Bunmi Adebayo, a 26-year-old woman, says desperation to have a baby after 10 years of marriage made her to steal a three-week old baby in Modakeke, Osun State.

Punch Metro reports that she allegedly stole the baby, named David Oluwaseun, on Sunday July 1, 2018.

The suspect, who resided in Magboro, Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, was arrested on Saturday at Orile Imo village, in the same local government area by men of the state Police Command.

She had fled there with baby named David Oluwaseun.

Parading the suspect before the journalists on Tuesday at the state Police Command headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said “the suspect took her desperation too far.”

He said the suspect had lied to her husband, who used to visit her at her abode at intervals, that she was pregnant.

And after nine months, Iliyasu, said, the suspect called her husband and broke the news that she had been delivered of a baby boy.

The news, he added gladdened the heart of the husband, Gbenga Adebayo, who rushed down to her residence.

But, he was said to have become curious when he demanded for the placenta and the suspect was unable to present it.

Iliyasu explained further that when the husband asked her to breastfeed the baby in his presence, she was unable to do so.

Having realised the curiosity of her husband, she was said to have absconded from the home, and her husband had to report to the Police that his wife was missing.

The Police search team caught up with her and the stolen baby at Orile Imo last Saturday, where she was arrested and the baby was rescued.

PDP’s Alliance With Other Parties Can’t Defeat APC – Balarabe Musa
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-11-2018, 10:53 AM - No Replies

Former Governor of Kaduna State Balarabe Musa has said the alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties cannot defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former governor told NAN that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the parties is an act of “opportunism.”

Balarabe Musa, who is the National Chairman, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), also dismissed reports that his party was part of the coalition.

He said: “Remember, the reason for coming together is simply because they have lost the opportunities for sharing power.

“It is not because of anything which they can do which APC didn’t do. No, it is not because they have a different ideological position.

“There is no fundamental difference between them and the APC; they are just an electoral gang to defeat the APC. I don’t think the coalition is enough.”

Musa argued that what is needed is an alliance which is ideologically more focused than the APC and not just an aberration of what APC stands for.

Over 50 People were reported to have been killed in fresh attacks on Monday night in several border communities in Adamawa and Taraba states .
The attacks were reportedly carried out by Fulani militiamen targeting farming communities around Gojefa, Bujum Yashi , Bujum Waya , Sabonlayi and Bujum Kasuwa villages in the Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State .
Other communities affected by the onslaught include Anguwan Bishop Yotti , Todung , Budon, Bunzum and Bamga Dutse located in Taraba State .
The sustained attacks in recent times , according to the Hama Batta, Alhamdu Teneke, the traditional ruler of Demsa chiefdom , have resulted in most communities in the area abandoning farming . He said this development might lead to famine soon.
Confirming the recent attacks, the member representing Numan in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Sodomti Tayedi, said more than 50 people were feared killed in the wave of the recent attacks.
She also pointed out that no week passed in her community without an attack carried out by suspected Fulani militia .
Tayedi said , “ Our people are farmers but my community is now living in fear since these attacks started in November last year and have persisted up till date .
“We are hopeless and helpless; economic activities here have stopped . This is a farming season and if we cannot go to the farm, then poverty and starvation are what is left .
“We are calling on the government , as a matter of urgency , to come and secure our people and constituency since no one is allowed to take up arms , then it is the responsibility of the government to protect people. ”
One of the survivors, Galilee Ishaku , a resident of Sabon Layi , said , “Those who attacked us were Fulani and they came when we were in the market because it was market day .
“They suddenly entered our village and started shooting . We ran and cross over the river but they followed us and kept on shooting .
“Right now as I am talking , they are in our village, grazing on our farms .
“The people that I know were killed were more than 30 people but many of our villagers are still unaccounted for. ”
Another resident , Dong Jonah, said the attacks usually followed rumours of an impending attack , adding that despite the early warnings to security agencies, measures were hardly taken to forestall the attacks.
However, the Adamawa State Government , on Tuesday through the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh , condemned the attacks on Numan and Demsa communities .
He also expressed the government ’ s concern about the displacement caused by the attacks while assuring the residents that the state government was working to restore peace to the troubled area.
The Monday night attack was the fourth in two weeks with the residents claiming that over 100 people might have been killed. 21 persons were killed in attacks on Demsa and Numan villages

Anglican synod asks Buhari to forget 2nd tenure

The Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion, yesterday said that the intention and subsequent declaration of President Muhamadu Buhari to seek reelection in 2019 General election has continued to trail emotions, ranging from indifference to anger.

The Nnewi Diosese, therefore, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to have a rethink about his second term ambition , saying, "while some political analysts and stalwarts see it as another opportunity to consolidate his achievements, other Nigerians who were grossly injured with his administration described the reelection bid as a time bomb."

The Nnewi Diocese, spoke through the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop Diocese of Nnewi, His Grace Most Professor, Godwin Okpala.
The Diocese also said that the menace of the killer herdsmen suspected to be mainly Fulanis in various parts of the Nigeria had continued to pose serious threat to national unity.

Archbishop Prof. Okpala, in his Presidential address delivered to the Diocese at the second session of the eight Synod 2018 of Nnewi Diocese held at St Judes Anglican Church Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Anambra State, also called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness.

"With the dissenting voice to President Buhari's reelection bid, Nigeria will be sitting on a keg of gun powder, due to the hardship his first tenure inflicted on them.
The menace of Fulani herdsmen in various parts of Nigeria, such as North-Central, South-West, South-East and South-South zones, has continued to pose serious threats to national unity if not checked will destroy Nigeria.

"The heinous descent of these herdsmen on villages and farm lands, looting, raping, killing and abduction of farmers and other villages have metamorphosed into frightening trends with their use of sophisticated weapons, such as AK47, in place of sticks," he said.

According to Archbishop Okpala, many innocent Nigerians had died in the hands of the blood thirsty killer herdsmen and therefore," there is tension about ethnic retaliation."

The Archbishop in the Synod, titled "Forgiveness the Hallmark of Christian Faith" also said to many Nigerians the killings by the herdsmen was seen as a battle between the Fulani Jihadist against other ethnic groups in the country notably the Easterners and Westerners.

He noted that approaching it through religion that it would be understood to be an attack by Northern Muslem Fulanis against Christians in theSouth, while politically, it was an attempt for domination and subjugation of the South Easterners. He therefore, called on the Federal Government to use every arsenal at its disposal to prevent the insurgences from resulting to ethno-religious conflicts.

The Archbishop said the executive and legislative arms of government should be able to come up with laws that should command security operatives to remain apolitical and professionally responsive in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

"While we are not advocating for reprisal to avoid people taking laws into their hands because of its bad consequences, we advise that government of the day through its security operatives should rise to the challenge before it becomes uncontrollable, because the people may obviously defend their lives and properties," he submitted.
