Household of God Pastor, Chris Okotie has called on two of Nigeria’s leading political parties APC and PDP to adopt him as their presidential candidate.
[Image: 36742561_1078392902308738_156198253929431040_n.jpg]

According to reports, the man of God spoke at a press conference in his church during the Sunday service today saying the dreams and aspirations of the people having been confined to oblivion and he believes that we must act now to defend the Nigerian dream as things have gone to a worse state.

He said that he has decided to return to politics seeing that Nigeria needs a credible personality one who is intellectually ready and capable. He added that the Nigerian constitution is obsolete and therefore desires to pursue a mandate that will set up a new government of reconciliation.

“In sincere consideration I humbly and sincerely ask that the APC adopt me as the presidential candidate. I have extended the same gesture to the APC too. This is the time to demonstrate our love for this country.” Pastor Chris Okotie said that this is not out of his will but that of the Lord.

Pastor Chris Okotie first came into politics in 2003 under the Justice Party(JP) where he contested for the position of the President but lost to Olusegun Obansanjo. He again vied for the same position in 2007 under the party he founded, Fresh Democratic Party (FRESH), but lost to Umaru Yar’Adua. Pastor Chris Okotie, not deterred again ran for the presidential seat in 2011 and lost to Goodluck Jonathan.

#FRACRO! France Crowned World Champions After Twenty Years
[Image: France_wins_world_cup.jpg]
France have won the 2018 FIFA World Cup after beating Croatia 4-2. The two sides both set up cautiosuly, with France opting to play Blaise Matuidi on the left to deal with the threat posed by Rebić, Modrić and Vrsaljko down Croatia’s right, and Zlatko Dalić opting to play Marcelo Brozović as a holding midfielder.
Fatigue was clearly no issue for Croatia as they dominated the opening stages and looked the sharper team, despite playing 120 minutes in all three previous knockout games, two of which went to penalties.
But it was France who broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, as an inswinging free kick from Antoine Griezmann took a slight deflection off Mario Mandžukić, to take it past Danijel Subašić.
Claims that Griezmann dived to win the free kick and that Pogba was offside as the ball swung in were waved away and France took full advantage.
It was a goal very much against the run of play, but Croatia didn’t have to wait long to level the scoring, as Ivan Perišić fired in an equaliser before the half hour mark to reignite the game.
[Image: GettyImages-999446922-1024x641.jpg?resiz...C436&ssl=1]
But Perišić’s heroics were undone ten minutes later, when the ball struck his arm in the box and referee Nestor Pitana awarded a penalty after observing the incident for what felt like an age on the touchline monitor.
It was the first time we’d seen VAR for several games, yet it only further highlighted its flaws when making decisions on contentious handballs.
[Image: GettyImages-999450308-1024x680.jpg?resiz...C462&ssl=1]
Croatia began the second half on the front foot, refusing to be disheartened by the controversial decision in the first half. But once again they were sucker-punched by France on the counter, as Kylian Mbappé broke in behind, played the ball inside to Griezmann, who laid it off to Pogba, who slotted the ball past Subašić with his left foot at the second time of asking.
Chaos followed, as France extended their lead to 4-1 before a Hugo Lloris clanger let Mandžukić reduce the lead to two.
[Image: GettyImages-999468750-1024x726.jpg?resiz...C493&ssl=1]
France then brought on Corentin Tolisso for Blaise Matuidi in an attempt to calm the game down, having already brought on Steven N’Zonzi for the cautioned N’Golo Kanté.
Croatia continued to pour forward in their numbers, growing more frustrated with every half chance that passed them by. A refereeing decision once again was the source of their anger as Nestor Pitana forced Ivan Rakitić to retake a quick free kick. The Barcelona man dropped to the floor in frustration and sarcastically clapped towards the match official.
Eventually the game calmed down, as reality set in for the Croatian players who had fought tooth and nail throughout. They were worthy finalists, but ultimately undone by a France team who – despite not showing it nearly enough – can do everything.

THE Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned in strong terms what it termed “the ignoble role played by Gov. Yahaya Bello in the just concluded Ekiti State Governorship election held at the weekend.”
In a statement issued and signed by Achadu Dickson, Director Research and Documentation, on Sunday, the party lamented the Governor’s penchant for using state resources to fund elections in other states since his assumption in 2016.
The party recalled how the governor expanded the state’s resources in Edo, Anambra and now in Ekiti State, lamented a situation where Kogi state workers and pensioners were being ‘owed salaries, pension and gratuities between eight and thirty months, yet the Governor finds it expedient to fund elections by playing the role of a father Christmas when Kogi citizens.”
The PDP equally frowned at a situation where the governor was alleged to have purchased and donated cars to community leaders of Kogi extractions in Ekiti state, thus wasting state resources all in the attempt to help the APC win election.
More worrisome, the Kogi state PDP pointed out was the governor’s alleged involvement in hiring about 78 thugs from the State to Ekiti in buses.
The party wondered how a man who ordinarily should have been a chief security officer, now becomes a man moving about with thugs.
“Kogi PDP therefore observed that the reported cases of ballot box snatching, and violence which was the hallmark that characterized the Ekiti state governorship election is the brain child of the importation of thugs by the governor. Among the thugs he so ferried to Ekiti are many have been arrested for disruption of electoral process .
“Kogi state PDP therefore described the state as sitting on a time bomb if a governor whose sole and main responsibilities is protection of lives and properties now engages in breeding thugs, a tool he has used for elections in other states since he became governor.
“While there is a very important need to carry out a thorough investigation on the role of the governor in his alleged withdrawal of N750million on the eve of the Ekiti state governorship election and his role in the movement of thugs, the Kogi State Chapter of the PDP Calls on the relevant agencies to do the needful in unraveling the governor’s culpability in the matter.
“PDP make bold to say the deaspiration by Gov. Yahaya Bello to be in the good books of the APC by milking the state dry of her resources when workers are committing suicide due to hunger and poverty, with several months of unpaid salaries for workers and pensioners.
“Nothing would stop the Kogi state people from effecting the change of leadership come 2019 for the people know who is behind their sufferings and insecurity in the state,” the statement added.

Another Nigerian allegedly shot dead in South Africa

According to reports coming from South Africa, there has been another killing of a Nigerian in the country. The man identified as Martin Ebuzoeme, was allegedly shot dead by unknown assailant.

The President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Mr. Adetola Olubola, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday, that the victim was killed in Yeoville, Johannesburg, around 7:30pm on July 12.

The killing came barely 24 hours after the visit of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, to Nigeria.

Ramaphosa had during his visit on July 11 said that the killing of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country was an act of criminality, not specifically targeted at Nigerians.

”The killings are caused by high level of unemployment among the youth as well as other social factors emanating from long apartheid misrule.

”Government is however, doing all best possible to bring it down,” Ramaphosa had said.

The Nigeria Consul General in Johannesburg, Mr Godwin Adama, said that latest killing did not have anything to do with xenophobic attacks.

Adama told the reporters on phone from Johannesburg that the killing happened in a crime invested area of the country.

”The man was killed by unknown gunmen and has nothing to do with xenophobic.

“The place is a crime prone area and those kind of assassinations happened often in that area.

”There is no investigation that showed that it was xenophobic.

”Within a year here, we have about 16,000 murders which do not necessarily have anything to do with any national of a particular country,” he said.

The killing of Nigerians in South Africa had been on the increase in recent times.

Before the latest one, there was the assassination of Mr Ozumba Tochukwu-Lawrence, by an unknown gunman at 10 Koppe, Middleburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa, on July 6.

Another Nigerian, ThankGod Okoro, was also reportedly shot dead in Hamburg, Florida West Rand, Johannesburg, on April 9 by the South African Police Flying Squad.

There was also the killing of Clement Nwaogu in April, a father of two, who was burnt to death by his assailant.

The wanton killings of Nigerians in South Africa had sparked a number of protests there.

For demanding justice on behalf of their fallen compatriots, 14 of the protesters were taken into custody and branded drug peddlers.

Ekiti Election Worst Political Robbery In Nigeria — Wike
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2018, 09:12 AM - Replies (5)

GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, yesterday described the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election as the “worst political robbery” in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Wike, during a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt to draw the curtains on the third year anniversary celebration of his administration, boasted that the All Progressives Congress, APC, would have no room to re-enact the perceived Ekiti political robbery in Rivers State.

He said: “Don’t be worried about what happened in Ekiti State. We are prepared. It will not happen here in Rivers State. I have never experienced that kind of robbery in politics.

“I told my colleagues, don’t give them any chance. Most of them in APC are hoping they will repeat the same in Rivers State. We are waiting. Let your spirit not be down, work hard and victory will be ours.”

On the value of the two months long 3rd anniversary celebration, Wike said: “We made sure people who have eyes see what we have done for the state, except those who are blind, for which there is nothing we can do about it.

“We will continue to do the best for the people of Rivers State. The people deserve the best. In the remaining one year, we will not stop doing projects, irrespective of the elections.”

Governor Wike urged the people to continue to support his administration.

Archbishop, Province of Niger Delta, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, who presided at the thanksgiving, lauded Wike for his outstanding developmental strides, saying the governor has graduated from “Mr Projects to Doctor Projects.”

Co-Adjutor Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta North, Rt Rev Wisdom Ihunwo, prayed for God’s continued blessing on Wike’s administration, noting that the government’s source of strength is from above.

NUT Laments As Teachers Die Of Hunger In Kogi Due To Non-payment Of Salaries
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 07-16-2018, 09:10 AM - No Replies

Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teacher, NUT, has lamented the death of hundreds of their members due to hunger and starvation over non-payment of their salaries. The state Chairman of NUT, Comrade Ayodele Thomas, told journalists in Lokoja on Monday that, “teachers are being owed up to 15 to 25 months salaries.”
According to him, “the situation has created some critical health challenges for some members.”
He added also that the state Governor, Yahaya Bello’s directive that teachers’ salaries must be treated on First Line Charge, with not less than 45 percent payment, “was surprising as local government administrators have flagrantly refused to adhere to the directive.” Instead, he said they are paying teachers between 20- 30 percent of their monthly salaries.
Thomas said that the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs swiftly set up a committee to implement the governor’s directive but regretted that the local government chairmen, along with local government treasurers and some top government officials, were frustrating the effort.
He showed an October 5, 2017 letter from Kogi State Head of Service, entitled: “Computerizing and centralizing of the payroll of the state, local governments workforce and pensioners” where local government administrators and other stakeholders were specifically directed to pay teachers salaries as first line charge from the Joint Account Allocation Committee. Thomas reiterated that the local government bosses still refused to comply with the directive.
He said, “Efforts to meet with the governor, to let him know about the latest development, has not been successful,” alleging that the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike, of not responding to three different memos sent by the NUT to her on the issue. The NUT Chairman pleaded with the state governor “to look into the plights of teachers by directing the local government administrators to comply with his directive.”
He said government officials should stop playing politics with teachers’ salaries. The NUT boss further revealed that some children and wards of teachers in the state can no longer go to school due to lack of payment of salaries. He also claimed that “while other categories of workers in the state collect their minimum wage, primary school teachers have been denied theirs.”

Total, Mobil, Others Yet To Remit N6tr Oil Revenue
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating revenue leakages in the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) at the weekend said about N6 trillion from gas sales and royalties is yet to be remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund by oil majors operating in the country.

According to the committee Chairman, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (PDP, Cross River) the leakages were the result of the faulty Production Sharing Contract (PSC), which gives room for the oil firms to fleece Nigeria of billions of naira revenue.

Specifically, he said the committee uncovered over US$8 billion unremitted accrual from gas sales by Total Oil & Gas Limited between 2007 and 2017; US$170 million by Mobil; US$34 million by Neconde; among others.

“The Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) is faulty and does not provide for the remittance of the proceeds from gas sales. It gives room for most of the oil companies to fleece our revenues.

In the Bonga Field, Total alone has over US$8 billion unremitted gas sales to the Consolidated Revenue Fund between 2007 and 2017. Mobil owes over

US$170m on gas sales from Bonny Terminal; Neconde owes about $34 million in royalty,” the chairman stated.

He also said records from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), JP Morgan, signature bonuses, concession rentals, crude oil, gas and flaring royalties, revealed that Sterling Global Oil Resources Ltd, has no evidence of payment of crude oil and gas sales, despite operating in the upstream sector of the oil industry.

The lawmaker equally frowned at the level of impunity by the oil majors and other actors in the oil industry, and called for total overhaul of the PSC.

As a result, he added, the ad hoc committee has summoned the management of five oil firms namely; Sterling Global Oil Resources Ltd, Neconde Energy Ltd, ND Western Limited, Newcross E & P and Allied Energy Ltd., to provide their evidence of payment of royalties.

“We think all the funds have to be remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. So, we have asked NNPC and DPR to make their submissions to the committee.

I can confirm to you that if we get the fund, the Federal Government will borrow less to finance the deficit budget,” Jarigbe said.

Responding to questions on the non-enforcement of extant laws regulating the oil industry, the lawmaker said there are sanctions such as suspension of export permits, but that there must be political will by the executive to enforce them.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced that it realised N2.52 trillion from various taxes from January to June 2018.

The amount showed that the Service had realised 75 per cent of its total target for the year, which is an improvement over what was realised in the corresponding period in 2017.

A report on the revenue performance by the Agency, submitted to the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, confirmed that the figure represented an increase of N746 billion, representing 42 per cent when compared to the N1.7 trillion total tax revenue realised in the corresponding period in 2017.

An analysis of the total amount shows that N1.6 trillion was collected as Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) as against N636 billion resulting in a variance of N532 billion.

From the company income tax (CIT), the FIRS realized a total of N680 billion, which was N128 billion more than the N551 billion in the previous year. The Value Added Tax (VAT) yielded a total of N536 billion in the period under review, which was N68.8 billion more than the N467 billion realised in 2017.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 16TH JULY.

ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (John 1:4-5).

The Bible says in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The Lord Jesus died, was buried, and raised back to life by the glory of the Father. When God raised Him from the dead and showed Him openly, He called all to life. So, Jesus made eternal life possible. John said, “(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto usWink” (1 John 1:2).

In John 17:3, the Bible says, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” Jesus is the embodiment of eternal life. He said in John 14:6, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life….” He said in John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” Everlasting life is eternal life.

The one who believes in Jesus has it.
The question is, do you believe in Jesus Christ? If you do, then you have eternal life. You’re not going to get it when you get to heaven; you have it now; it’s your present-hour possession. Also, if you’re not sure that you have eternal life, perhaps, you’ve not been born again, this is your moment! You can receive that life now by asking Jesus to come into your heart to be the Lord of your life.

When you receive Christ, you receive eternal life; you receive the divine life and nature of God. You’re awakened to the fatherhood of God; you become one with Him.

Something else that’s so sublime is that eternal life from Jesus Christ doesn’t come alone; it comes with “Righteousness.” The Bible says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10).

Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your life and nature which I received in Christ. I’m awakened to the realities of the Kingdom. Thank you for loving me and giving me your life and nature of righteousness, by which I live in your presence and walk in dominion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 3:35-36 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

1 John 5:11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

APC Tells Saraki, ‘You Betrayed Our Party’
- Calls SP 'Double Agent'
[Image: 36686076_10156551368604962_1917702025785...50x300.jpg]
The deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Yekini Nabena, has challenged Senate President Bukola Saraki to make public if he is still a member of the APC or not.

Nabena, in a statement on Sunday, said the Senate President cannot continue to play “hide and seek” with the APC, which he says gave Saraki the platform he currently plys his political career.
The APC spokesman further accused Saraki of being the brain behind the emergence of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), adding that the Senate President has betrayed the trust reposed on him by the party.
Recently, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Saraki’s chief of staff, and some aides of top APC members dumped the APC.
Nabena said Saraki can leave the APC if he wants to, but warned that he should “not try to destroy a house that gave him accommodation when he needed it most”.

The statement reads: “Saraki must declare now where he belongs, whether he is for APC or other political interests. He cannot serve God and mammon. He cannot play hide-and-seek. He cannot hide behind his fingers.
“In recent times, there have been attempts to discredit the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the federal government it controls by a roguish alliance of forces within and outside the party.
“The President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has loomed large in this scheme. Saraki has never hidden his sympathy for those who have launched a vicious attack on the APC, a party that gave both him and the nascent mudslingers the platform on which they ply their political careers.
“The APC is not averse to dissenting positions. But we reject deceit in every shade or form.
“We are aware that a number of Saraki’s aides and close allies have left APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). For example, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has returned to his former home in PDP; Saraki’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed has withdrawn his membership from APC.
“We are also not unaware of the fact that Saraki is the brawn and the brains of the so-called Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC).
“APC is a democratic institution and Saraki is free to make choices in accordance with the laws of the country. But he cannot continue to take members of APC for a ride.
“Politics is based on trust. Saraki has betrayed the trust reposed on him by the party. If he wants to leave APC, let him leave peacefully, and not try to destroy a house that gave him accommodation when he needed it most.
“His current attitude can only be the action of a traitor or a double agent.”

Sunkanmi Odubunmi Of LASU In Sex Scandal!
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 07-15-2018, 08:00 PM - No Replies

Quote:Dr. Sunkanmi Odubunmi, an Associate Professor of Economics in the Lagos State University (LASU), has allegedly been caught in the web of sexual harassment of one his female students.

Coming barely two weeks after the reported sack of one Professor Richard Akindele of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, the insatiable lust for love advances by varsity dons reared its ugly head again at LASU within the week.

Odubunmi a 1987 graduate of the university and best student in Mathematics For Economics, is said to be a no-nonsense economics lecturer and well respected until the recent bubble busted in the latest development that may have changed the university community perception about his personality.

A report said the Oyo State born professor, is presently at the centre of a sex scandal and examination malpractices involving a young girl (names withheld) of the same department.

Available information stated that the student in question, who had vehemently turned down love advances from the lecturer severally, approached and sought the assistance of a non-government organisation to help track the alleged sexual harassment.

According to reports, “The NGO later involved the LASU security to trap the lecturer, who was supposed to be due for a full professorship a week to the incident,” said our source.

The source revealed that the young lady was equipped with sensitive gadgets such as a pen, belt and eyeglasses all with a camera to record their video and audio conversations.

It was alleged that Odubunmi fell for the trap and invited the lady to his office on a Saturday to rewrite the failed paper and she agreed and reported with all the surveillance apparatus on her while the NGO people also stationed themselves in another office not far from Odubunmi’s with the laptops connected to the spy camera’s on the lady.

Left all alone, Professor Odubunmi was said to have given her the papers to write her exams and bolted the office door firmly, while the student got down to writing the papers, the lecturer removed his shirt and started cuddling his student from the back.

The student was said to have become panicky, lost concentration and put up a resistance with the lecturer who later found that the student wore a spy eyeglass.

Having smelt a rat and the plot, Dr. Odunbunmi was alleged to have beaten a retreat, hurriedly dressed up, seized the surveillance glasses and destroyed it.

He was reported to have raised the alarm and varsity security guards that are part of the set up quickly moved in with the NGO team and arrested the enraged lecturer.

A source close to the university’s Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) confirmed the development, saying that a query had been issued by the management of the institution to Dr. Odubunmiin in line with the disciplinary process of the university.

“The next step is before the Joint Disciplinary Committee of Council and Senate,” the source added.

Dr. Odubunmi was recently drafted into the membership of a committee on Open/Distance Learning & Research Institute constituted by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Lanre Fagbohun.

This is coming barely a month after Professor Olusegun Awonusi, an English Language lecturer at the University of Lagos was alleged to have sexually harassed a female student of the institution.

However, the management of the institution will on Monday disclose to the public report of the Fact-Finding Panel on the allegation of sexual harassment involving Prof Awonusi.

Fayose: Stop Brigandage In Ekiti Now – Atiku

Posted 3 days ago in News

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar yesterday called for a stop to what he called brigandage in Ekiti State following the attack on the state governor, Ayo Fayose.
Atiku said he was appalled at the images coming out of Ekiti in the last few hours.
In a statement from his media office in Abuja, the former vice president said that behaviours such as these are an uncivil assault on democracy and falls short of democratic best practices.
The Peoples Democratic Party presidential hopeful reminded that the current administration came into being because the preceding PDP federal government ensured free and fair elections at all levels.

“Having been a beneficiary of such propriety, it is incumbent on the federal government not to deprive others of the ladder it was provided by its predecessors.
“Free, fair and credible elections are not a privilege. They are a right! The peaceful congregating of the good people of Ekiti State, be they members of the All Progressives Congress or the Peoples Democratic Party or of any other party, must be allowed by the Federal Government”.

Atiku observed that it is not in the place of government to harass, intimidate, hound and humiliate political opponents in an election. What government should do is to provide a level playing ground and guarantee the security of the electorate and the principal political actors in the election. The former vice president however admonished the federal government to do everything within its powers to douse the tension being generated over the governorship election in Ekiti State.

NNPC, DPR Heading for a Showdown over Petrol Consumption, Subsidy Figures

NNPC, DPR Heading for a Showdown over Petrol Consumption, Subsidy Figures

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Department of Petroleum Resources might be heading for a showdown over the actual litres of refined petrol the nation consumes daily.

In the middle of the disagreement was the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), which accused the NNPC of reporting excessive petrol consumption figure to facilitate deduction of undue petrol cost (under-recovery) from domestic crude cost.

This, the governors reckoned, explained the shortfall in what NNPC remits to the Federation Account, noting that its allegation was based on the disclosure made to it by the DPR.

But NNPC was unhappy that DPR provided information that contradicted its position to a third party.

The DPR had told the NGF that petrol under-recovery was derived from consumption or evacuation whereas NNPC claimed that PMS cost under-recovery was derived from actual import volumes.

A governor, who was privy to some of the exchanges between the NNPC, the DPR, the Minister for Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the Presidency on the issue, said like the DPR, the governors had evidence to prove that NNPC was under-reporting.

For some weeks now, FAAC has not been able to conclusively hold its meetings, because of claims by the NGF that the NNPC was shortchanging the federation with exorbitant financial claims as subsidy over volumes of petrol it imports into the country.

The governors had called for an audit of NNPC’s petrol importation, claiming daily petrol consumption figures reported by the NNPC were overblown by the corporation so it could keep more money away from FAAC.

In a letter by NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, to Adeosun, which the governor allowed our correspondent to sight, the corporation said: “The minister is kindly invited to note that PMS cost under-recovery is derived from actual import volumes and not on consumption or evacuations as presented to the NGF by the Department of Petroleum Resources.

“We would like to bring to the attention of the minister, the assertion of the NGF that the NNPC is reporting excessive PMS consumption figures to facilitate deduction of undue PMS cost under-recovery from domestic crude cost.

“The position was further exacerbated by the DPR’s claim that there was never a time where PMS Truck Out (Evacuation) reached 60 million litres per day and that evacuation was the basis in which PMS daily average consumption is made.

“Additionally, the PPPRA evacuation data since January 2016 indicated average volume of 50 million litres per day.”

The letter was dated July 5th.

Hhowever, the letter appeared to be an effort by the corporation to explain its position on the June 2018 revenue remittance to FAAC, which has remained controversial till date, the letter suggested the DPR was suspicious of the volumes of petrol the NNPC frequently claimed to have imported and based its subsidy deductions on.

NNPC insisted that PMS cost under-recovery was based on supply and not evacuation or consumption and therefore accused the DPR of bad faith.

Even though the NNPC chief admitted that the corporation did not have an accurate data on the volume of petrol required by Nigeria on a daily basis and may have been importing petrol with figures the PPPRA handed to it, he was of the view that the DPR divulging such information to the NGF without confirming with it was aimed at embarrassing the federal government.

He said: “NNPC observes that the submission by the DPR was not well intentioned as they should have appropriately discussed and gotten alignment or explanations from PPPRA and NNPC before divulging to third parties. This should be guided upon to avoid embarrassing the government.”

Specifically, Baru insinuated it was probably the DPR that told the NGF that the petrol importation figures frequently claimed by the NNPC were not trustworthy.

But the NNPC, at a point, admitted that it did not know the actual petrol the nation consumes daily.

He said: “Honourable minister would recall the ongoing engagement by the inter-ministerial team composing Ministries of Petroleum and Finance with the participation of the NNPC, DPR, PPPRA, PEF, OAGF and the CBN to put in place a monitoring system for the entire fuel supply and distribution system in the federation.

“Also, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources is engaging the National Bureau of Statistics to establish actual consumption of petroleum products in the country. The outcome of these exercises may establish the actual fuel consumption in the country.”

NNPC said it had previously utilised 35 million litres per day as basis for supplying its shares of the national consumption.

The corporation also faulted the data provided by the DPR saying the figures might not be fully reflective of the actual evacuation figures from the various depots.

Baru alleged that the DPR failed to confer with the NNPC and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) on the importation volumes before making a presentation to the NGF, adding that the NNPC charged subsidy based on the actual volumes of petrol it imports and not on consumption or evacuations from its depots.

It then added: “However, our evaluation of the PPPRA evacuation data for all depots and terminals from January 2016 to December 2017 indicated average load out of about 48 million and 50 million per day respectively.”

In the same letter, Baru disclosed that the corporation made deductions worth N88.91 billion as subsidy claims for May 2018 and part of outstanding subsidy claims for 2017.

Indicating the claims were based on the supplies figures, Baru noted that N31.12 billion was for May 2018, while N57.79 billion was claims for the 2017 outstanding.

“For the month of June 2018, NNPC proposed deductions of N88.91 billion as PMS cost under-recovery against domestic crude cost receivable in May 2018. This comprises N31.12 billion for the month of May and N57.79 billion as part of the outstanding for 2017.

“The 2017 under-recovery was not recovered due to low production and prices, which would have had adverse impact on FAAC remittance in the succeeding months.”

But to prove that NNPC was being economical with the truth, the governor also allowed THISDAY to sight an earlier letter written to the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo by the same NNPC GMD.

In the letter dated May 9th, 2008, Baru asked Osinbajo to prevail on the governors to accept what was remitted to the FAAC and to back off the FAAC allocation crisis.

The governor said it was incredible for NNPC to tell the Vice-President that Nigerians consumed 70 million litres per day between November and December 2017, when the nation was battling with fuel shortage.

Excerpts from the letter to Osinbajo reads: “The corporation has witnessed astronomical increase in the volume of PMS daily consumption, which has averaged 50-55 million litres per day and even reached a peak of over 70 million litres per day during the festive period of November and December 2017, and through the crises period.

“This necessitated Mr. President’s action of providing a $1.05 billion facility to NNPC to enable it import additional volumes through cash purchases to augment DSDP (average of 35 million litres per day) to meet the reserve depletion and the 50-55 million litres per day consumption.

“The corporation has, however, found succour in its ability to recover the cost differential through a back-out from the monthly remittances to FAAC based on actual volumes supplied,” the letter stated.

Rhetorically, the letter asked: “How can we be consuming 70 million litres, when there were long queue and when some people could not drive because of shortage? It simply does not make sense!”

Last Thursday, the rescheduled meeting of FAAC, again, ended in a deadlock.

The meeting was eventually suspended indefinitely.

Last Tuesday, the meeting, which was rescheduled after the initial June 27 meeting ended in a stalemate and was also put off after members failed to reconcile the records with the management of the NNPC.

Members could not agree to share the revenue brought for distribution by the NNPC.

After the Thursday meeting, Chairman of Commissioners Forum of FAAC, Mahmood Yunusa, said the meeting was postponed indefinitely and would only be reconvened after “the process is strengthened.

“The next meeting is a function of when we finish the process. What we are looking for is for the process to be strengthened. Once the process is strengthened, there is no need for this fight.”

The commissioner said the decision of the 36 state governments and other members of FAAC to reject NNPC’s paltry remittances, “is about the system and the process we are working on. Once the process is strengthened, the correct amount is supposed to go to federal revenue account.”

He said the practice of NNPC withholding revenues that should be remitted to the FAAC for distribution to the three tiers of government was being reviewed at the highest level of government.

“Mr. President will sit with all parties. He is highly interested in this matter. He is taking his time to ensure the right thing is done,” Yunusa said.

As a result of the disagreement, civil servants across the country are yet to be paid their last month’s salaries.

Already, some governors are negotiating to take loans at high interest rates to pay their workers.

Members of the committee, consisting Commissioners for Finance and Accountants General from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, had accused the NNPC of not remitting enough revenue for sharing.

But NNPC spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, said the N147 billion revenue remitted to FAAC for sharing to the three tiers of government in June was “in line with the terms of agreement it had with governors on the matter.”

Ughamadu said the agreement NNPC had with the governors was for the corporation to make a monthly remittance of N112 billion only to FAAC.

He said the remittance was subject to sufficient funds from its sales of domestic crude oil allocation for the corresponding month after meeting certain operational obligations.

The spokesperson said NNPC was able to surpass the terms of agreement with the governors on the monthly remittance for June by about N35 billion.

Since then, the committee has been meeting with the top management of the NNPC, finance ministry officials, Accountant General of the Federation and representatives of the commissioners of finance to reconcile the accounts.

But on three occasions, the meetings failed to come to any agreement on what should be the correct figure as the controversy continues.

Nigerians Have Lost Confidence in the President - Onaiyekan

                          [Image: John-Cardinal-Onaiyekan.jpg?resize=696%2C522&ssl=1]
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Metropolitan See, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, maintained Saturday that Nigerians had lost confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration. Onaiyekan said there was no indication that the Buhari government was serious about governance, and upholding the principal objective of government, which is the protection of life and property.

In a no holds barred encounter, Onaiyekan told Akelicious in Abuja that Buhari’s constitutional commitment to protection of life and property was no longer tenable and achievable given the degeneration of the country.

Onaiyekan’s position followed similar views by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), which had called on the president to “save Nigeria from avoidable doom or step aside.”

Following the killing of two Catholic priests and 17 worshippers in Benue State, the bishops had called on Buhari to consider resignation due to the rampant killings across the country.

Speaking to Akelicious, Onaiyekan said, “I was only repeating what we (bishops) said some two months ago when we were in Rome, when two priests and their worshippers were killed. By the time they began to attack people at worship, we thought that it was carrying it too far.

“When we talk about confidence in the government, we believe that there is no excuse for any government not to be able to deal with the issues that we have in our hands, namely, that a group of murderers should not be able to go around killing people with impunity.

“So, we are not saying that Buhari is the one who sent them, we are not saying that he is supporting them. But we are certainly saying he is not doing enough. And when not doing enough on the part of the government translated into inability to defend and protect life, human life, which is the primary, first duty of government, the conclusion is obvious, that you cannot do the work.

“When we say we have lost confidence, it is like saying, well, we wouldn’t like to believe that he can do it and he is refusing to do it. Because if we arrive at that conclusion that Buhari could have stopped all these and he is refusing to do it, it means that he is responsible for it, like some people are saying.”

The cardinal added, “The bishops’ conference didn’t go that far. We are not saying that he is responsible; all we are saying is that you are not God, you cannot do everything, even a president has a limit to his power.

“But when a president reaches a stage where he cannot guarantee lives and property, he doesn’t expect us to have confidence in him. If we cannot rely on government to protect us, who are we to rely on? Are we to follow those who said everybody should go and armed himself?”

The Archbishop contended, “We could not accept the situation where people are being killed and we are asking them to be patient, we are telling them to pray, leave it to God. No, that’s not how to run the affairs of a nation.”

On the fears that government apparatus may be used to rig the 2019 elections and thwart the people’s will, Onaiyekan warned that no form of rigging by the incumbent government will be tolerated in 2019 general elections. He stressed that those planning to rig the elections should not be fooled by the fact that those who rigged previous elections were allowed to go free.

The Catholic clergy said, “The only fear I have is if anybody arrives at the decision to use state power to frustrate the wishes of the people in terms of that election, he is likely to create confusion, many Nigerians will not take it lightly

“My feeling is that Nigerians have reached a stage now, where blatant rigging of elections will not be tolerated, and it is not a bad thing.”

On whether the CBCN will mandate its members not to vote for Buhari considering the bishops’ loss of confidence in his administration, Onaiyekan said, “This president has only indicated interest to seek a second term. Eventually, if his party chooses him, then, we will be faced with a situation of what advice we want to give to our members, who want to follow our advice in this matter.

“Normally, we do not advise our members to vote one way or the other. But when it comes to whether somebody is able to protect lives and property and somebody has proved it, that he cannot, of course, when the time comes, we will remind our people.”

President Muhammadu Buhari departs for the Netherlands
July 15, 2018  politics

President Muhammadu Buhari today departs for The Netherlands to participate in activities in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), at The Hague.

Buhari is the only world leader invited to deliver a keynote address during the Solemn Hearing at Courtroom 1 of the ICC’s Headquarters.

Buttressing Nigeria’s commitment as a member of the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute of the ICC, the President will use the global platform to reaffirm Nigeria’s support to the fundamental values of the Rome Statute and to the ideals of the ICC.

A statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, yesterday said President Buhari would also highlight his administration’s campaign against corruption in Nigeria.

The president will have a bilateral meeting with the ICC Prosecutor, Ms Fatou Bensouda.

“The Nigerian leader, while in The Hague, will meet with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, to discuss bilateral issues such as migration, peace and security, and economic cooperation…”

Ekiti Election: INEC Chief, Zakari Demands Apology From Fayose
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-15-2018, 02:34 PM - No Replies

A National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of Election Operations and Logistics, Mrs Aminat Zakari has given the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose 48 hours to apologise publicly to her for accusing her of working with the All Progressives Congress candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi to rig the governorship election on Saturday.

Fayose had on July 2, 2018 accused the police and the Department of State Services of reposting Fayemi’s security aides to the state to coordinate the rigging of the election.

The governor also alleged that Zakari and three other INEC officials — Mr Kenneth Ukeagu ( Director of Procurement Department); Messrs Paschal Uwaenwe and Abdulrazaq Yusuf ( both deputy directors in Information and Communications Technology Department); and Mr Abdulrasak Agboola ( Deputy Director, ICT) — were working with Fayemi to carry out the alleged rigging.

But responding to the allegations in a suit filed by her lawyers Ubong Akpan Chambers, Zakari said the governor’s “scurrilous falsehood” had negatively impacted on her health, career and family life.”

In the suit titled, ‘Scurrilous statements against the integrity, person and public service of Mrs Amina Bala Zakari,’ and addressed to the governor, the INEC commissioner’s lawyers stated, “You (Fayose) are a Christian and a family man first before being a politician or governor of Ekiti State.

“You cannot possibly think it excusable on any grounds, other than deliberate viciousness that a governor of a state can legitimately descend to labelling a mother, wife and sister of his fellow beings a criminal of such astounding magnitude.

“What makes it worse than defamation is the incredible injurious falsehood you inflicted on our client in her work and public service.”

The suit added, “Mrs Zakari has been inundated with calls from family, friends and colleagues worldwide.

Zakari demanded that a written apology by the governor be published in all national newspapers within 48 hours.

The suit further demanded from the governor, “public retraction of all the allegations contained in all the said publications in the same manner and format in which the allegations were made.

PDP Rejects Ekiti Election Process, Says Results Were Concocted By APC.
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-15-2018, 02:32 PM - Replies (3)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejects in its entirety whatever outcome is being concocted by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, in the governorship election in Ekiti state.

The process, characterized by open alteration of results, brutalization of innocent citizens, barefaced cruelty and intimidation of our members by security agencies, is a brazen assault against democracy and a direct subversion of the will of the people which is completely unacceptable.

The PDP is armed with the details of all manipulations by the APC, who is being aided by security agencies and compromised INEC officials to rig the election, particularly, the audacious alteration and substitution of election results in favour of the APC at the collation centers amidst the brutalization of our agents.

The PDP also has details of all the polling units where we won, mostly with very wide margin ahead of the APC, only for the security agencies to aid the swapping and alteration of such results with those smuggled in by the APC at the collation centers.

It is instructive to state that all the issues we raised ahead of the election, including the conspiracy between the APC, some compromised INEC officials and security agencies; the importation of thugs from other states by the APC; the use of brutal force against our members and the alteration of results in favour of the APC, have all manifested.

The PDP holds strongly that there is no way our democracy can survive with an electoral process such as this, being witnessed today in Ekiti state under President Muhammadu Buhari and the current INEC.

This bald-faced subversion of the will of the people is a clear recipe for a serious crisis and we invite Nigerians and the international community to hold President Buhari and his APC as well as the INEC Chairman and heads of security agencies in Nigeria responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Ekiti state as a result of this election.

This on-going robbery of the franchise of Ekiti people is a horrible rape of our democracy and most uncharitable of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC who hugely benefitted from the credible election midwifed by the PDP in 2015.

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan
National Publicity Secretary

INEC Declares Kayode Fayemi Winner Of Ekiti Governorship Election 2018
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-15-2018, 01:19 PM - Replies (4)

Quote:Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kayode Fayemi, has won the Ekiti State governorship election.

Fayemi defeated current Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kolapo Olusola, and over 30 others in a keenly contested election.

He was victorious in 11 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, polling 197,459 votes, and edging out his closest rival Olusola who got 178,121 votes by 19,338 votes.

Based on the votes secured, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer for the election, Professor Idowu Olayinka, declared Fayemi the winner.

Saturday’s election was highly anticipated as it pitted both the APC and Fayemi against one of their biggest critics and a key member of the opposition.

The buildup to the election was filled with drama and heightened expectations but led to fears of violence, with more than 30,000 policemen eventually deployed to provide security.

It, however, started rather smoothly with electoral materials and officials getting to polling units visited by our correspondents on schedule.

In Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, there was a large turnout of voters and more than 60,000 people eventually voted there, the largest votes cast in a local government during the election.

Apart from reports now and then of card reader malfunction, one of the first issues to pop up was the allegations of cash inducements by observers and party agents.

A few hours into the start of the election, the police arrested some persons for allegedly distributing cash to voters.

By midday, both Fayemi and Olusola had suffered hitches at their polling units.
In the case of Fayemi, the card reader smoothly read his PVC enabling him to vote but it failed to read that of his wife and it took several attempts before she got to vote.

After voting, the former Ekiti governor told reporters he was confident of victory and that the day will be celebrated.

In the case of Olusola, the card reader failed to recognise his card when he tried to vote at his polling unit – Ofomofuru Hall, Ward 2, Okokuru in Ikere-Ekiti.

He only got accredited to vote after INEC National Commissioner, Anthonia Simbini, intervened.

Both candidates did not dwell on the hitch, however, with the focus more on voter inducement and intimidation.

The victory puts Mr Fayemi on course for a second term as governor of the state, an ambition he failed to achieve in 2014 when he was defeated by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Fayemi had gone on to head the Policy, Research and Strategy Directorate of the APC’s Presidential Campaign for the 2015 election before becoming Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

Fayose, whose administration repeatedly accused Fayemi’s administration, was keen to ensure that his deputy succeeds him and that Ekiti remains under the leadership of the PDP.

When he came out to vote, the governor repeated his calls to supporters of the PDP to vote and protect their votes.

Although it was a close contest, Fayemi and the APC prevailed

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 15TH JULY. Pastor Chris

TOPIC “TAKE WITH YOU WORDS”

O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips (Hosea 14:1-2).

Notice the words of the prophet in our theme scripture: “Take with you words,” not bulls and goats. We’re to take the calves (bulls) of our lips; the sacrifices of our lips, which are better than the bulls (animals) offered as sacrifice.

Remember, the blood of bulls and goats couldn’t take away sin (Hebrews 9:13-14).
Hebrews 13:15 says, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”; then he explains what the fruit of our lips are: words! We’re to give thanks to His Name, rendering words. The expression “giving thanks” in the Greek is ‘homologeo.’ It means to make confessions; to say what God has said in harmony with Him. Two can’t walk together except they be agreed (Amos 3:3). Thus, God expects us to walk in agreement with Him.
When you declare that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, as Peter did in Acts 10:36, you’re making confession to His Name. When you say, “Lord, you’re holy and righteous; all things belong to you; thou art exalted above all; your hands have made all things”; that’s making confessions to His Name. Remember, what’s required is that you offer sacrifice of praise, giving thanks to His Name.

For example, you say: “Thank you for what you did for me; you’ve really given me the advantage; you’ve blessed me in all things”; you’re according Him credit for what He’s done for you; you’re thanking Him, and making confessions to His Name in a way that praises Him. Even now, render to the Lord the calves of your lips! Make confessions to His Name. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for making my life glorious; you’ve blessed me in all things, and have made me great. Your faithfulness is everlasting. Thank you for giving me the advantage in life, through the Holy Spirit who lives within me. Now I know I can never be disadvantaged, and will always win; blessed be your Name forever. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Ecclesiastes 8:4 Where the word of a king [is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?

Hebrews 13:5-6 [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Days after our baby girl was born, I kissed my wife goodbye before surgery and neither of us knew if she would be coming back.
We just wanted her to survive—10 months later, she's in the #Wimbledon final.
Congratulations, @angie.kerber.

Why I Pray Before Going On Instagram - Nollywood Actress, Chika Ike
[size=undefined][Image: chika_ike_blue_dress.jpg]
Nollywood Actress Chika Ike During An Interview With Punch Has Revealed That She Normally Prays Before Visiting Instagram.

She told Sunday Scoop that she was aware the negativity spreading all over the Internet, especially on Instagram, had the ability to spoil one’s day.

“Instagram can spoil your day if you are not careful or strong. There is so much negativity in the world right now; so, you have to guard yourself with prayers.

“There is a need to start your day in a positive light and when you pray, your day has started positively,”
she added.

Speaking on why she wrote a book on her failed marriage and father’s rejection, she said God deliberately made everyone to go through certain things in life so that one could learn and share.

The actress said, “If you go through a lot of things and you are not willing to share, you’ve not achieved the purpose of God for your life.

“People will always have their perspectives about life and they talk about the dead too.

“I have gone through the phase of being scared or afraid of being judged by the public.

“I am learning every day to focus on myself; I cannot control anyone’s thoughts. I was rejected from birth by my father and I addressed it in my new book.”

In the said book, Ike also stressed the role her mother played in her life before she died.“Before my mother died three years ago, I had a discussion with her in the hospital. She wanted to know when I would publish my book; she was once an author too. I told her I was scared and she told me to tell the truth,” said the actress.

“When she died, I lost myself for two years and I did a lot of therapy to get myself together.

“I was so attached to my mother and I didn’t want to disappoint her because she gave me her last word.

“My mother’s death made me understand that life is too short and we don’t have much time on earth.

“We don’t know how tomorrow would be; so, the earlier we started achieving our set goals, the better for us.

“It took me seven years to write my book because I was afraid to share some private things about me at some point.

WOMEN AT WAR! Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage Block and Unfollow Each Other (Evidence!!)

There is a war brewing between top female music stars, Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade and this were off the basis that Yemi Alade granted an interview claiming to be one of the No. 1 music star in Nigeria and the presenter mocked Tiwa Savage as someone that shouts rather than sing - a compliment Yemi Alade took rather too gladly, that was the root of this war.

There is no doubt Tiwa Savage is the biggest female music star in Nigeria and alot of people even call her African Beyonce, but Yemi Alade is another brave woman, to be looking for a fight of the magnitude, we cant wait to see who comes out on top in this one

Battle for Supremacy: Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade unfollow each other on Instagram. . . This action comes following, recent criticism by an OAP, Misi, on Tiwa’s vocal skills, in comparison to Yemi Alade’s

Married Actor & Producer, David Nnaji Welcomes Baby With Sidechic, Says His Marriage Is Still intact

Actor and producer, David Nnaji, is sending conflicting signals at the moment. He confirmed to Sunday Scoop that he just had a baby with another woman but his marriage to singer, Jodie, was still intact.
He said, “I already confirmed on Instagram that I just had a baby girl. I don’t want to talk much about the identity of the mother because it is my personal life and I don’t want to make it public. I haven’t gotten married to another woman and if I will be doing that, I will rather keep it private. If you study my lifestyle, you will see that I don’t put my life out there. I don’t comment on things people say. My marriage to Jodie is still intact but she is not the one I just had a baby with. I did not take permission from anyone to get married and I don’t need to explain anything to anybody. I don’t even bother to dissuade any rumour because I am not interested.”

[Image: married-actor-david-nnaji-welcomes-baby-...tact-1.jpg]
Speaking on what he has been up to recently, Nnaji said, [b]“I just finished a project on the happenings in the North-East as regards how they affect women. It is titled, The Torn Petal. I also just worked on a movie titled, Derail. It is the story of a young lady who got derailed. I am also working in the studio with some young music talents and we will be putting something out soon.
"Even though I started as a child actor, being a producer and director now is a natural transition for me. I have done over 6,000 episodes of TV series in my career and that’s a lot of acting for someone who started at the age of 14. I’m now 32 and I am channelling my energy towards producing, though I will still act in future. For me to act, it has to be a script that is engaging and interesting, something unusual. I believe there are new vistas to explore.”

Neoo Black Movement Dissociates Itself From Black Axxe Cult, Set To Take Action.
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 07-15-2018, 12:04 AM - No Replies

Last week, police arrested 120 cultists alleged to be members of Black Axxe group during the celebration of 777 in preparation for initiation into the group in the Ikorodu area of Lagos. Now, the Neoo Black Movement of Africa (NBM) has denied having any relationship with Black Axxe confraternity, saying the use of its logo by the group was an infringement on its copyright with the group set to take action.

Below is a statement by the National President of NBM, Engr. Felix Kupa.

NBM DISTANCES SELF FROM CONFRATERNITY

...Thanks Police For Arresting 120 Suspected Black Axxe Cultists

The leadership of the Neoo-Black Movement (NBM) of Africa has distanced the group from the 120 suspected cultists arrested last weekend by the police in Lagos State.

Commending the force for promptly restoring law and order by the singular action, the movement decried linking it to the incident by way of a banner that accompanied the paraded suspects, which has since gone viral on the internet.

In a statement by its national president, Chief Felix Kupa, the group noted: “While we commend the Nigeria Police Force for the prompt enforcement of law and order, we are, however, constrained to make this public announcement in view of our noticing a possible infringement on our organisation’s copyright name and logo in the accompanying picture.

“For the non-discerning, the banner in the accompanying picture may seem as ours and therefore may have a damaging effect on our brand name in the eyes of those who are not able to tell the difference between the one in the picture and ours. We hereby restate, as always, that we are a law-abiding organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as equally affirmed by courts in the land.

“We have no relationship with the Black Axxe confraternity and did not have any approved ceremonies on the said date. The banner is not ours and none of our members is among the arrested persons.”

Consequently, the NBM has instructed its solicitors to press copyright infringement charges against those concerned to unravel the ulterior motive of the action.

23 Nigerian Soldiers Declared Missing After Boko Haram Attack:
User Avatar Forum: Crime

https://www.brainnewsradio.com/23-nigerian-soldiers-declared-missing-after-boko-haram-attack/

Quote:Twenty-three Nigerian soldiers are missing after Boko Haram jihadists ambushed a convoy in the remote northeast of the country, said military and civilian vigilante sources on Saturday.

“Up until now 23 troops have not been accounted for. They include five officers and 18 soldiers,” a military officer in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, told AFP on condition of anonymity.

“They came under attack from Boko Haram terrorists in Balagallaye village in the Boboshe area outside Bama,” the officer said.

The officer said that on Friday afternoon the soldiers had received a report that “around 100 terrorists” had gathered in Boboshe and that the “troops mobilised to fight them”.

“Only three vehicles have made it back to Bama, the remaining eight and scores of soldiers are still missing. Their fate is still unclear,”
 he said.

“We lost eight vehicles. That’s a lot,” the officer added.

A member of the civilian militia confirmed the officer’s account, saying that “dozens” of soldiers are still missing.

“It is not known if they escaped into the bush, were killed or captured,” he said.

“You know it is now rainy season and the roads are water-logged. The convoy got stuck in the mud and Boko Haram opened fire. It was a perfect ambush and the soldiers were on the defensive,” he said.

“So far three vehicles have returned. The other eight have either been destroyed or captured by Boko Haram.”

The group’s Islamist insurgency has devastated the region since 2009, leaving at least 20,000 dead, displacing more than two million others and triggering a humanitarian crisis.

Despite persistent attacks, President Muhammadu Buhari maintains that Nigeria is in a “post-conflict stabilisation phase”.

The former military ruler came to power three years ago on a promise to defeat Boko Haram, which is aligned to the Islamic State group and threatens security in the Lake Chad region.

But while there have been clear military gains since a counter-insurgency was launched in 2015, suicide bombings and raids remain a constant threat, particularly to civilians.(AFP)

Buhari’s Govt Disowns President’s Aide On Modu Sheriff Appointment

Quote:By Sani Tukur

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has disowned the statement issued by a Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters announcing the appointment of a former Borno governor, Ali Sheriff, as the Director-General of Buhari 2019 Presidential Support Committee.

The aide, Gideon Sammani, on Friday announced that Mr Sheriff would lead a 35-member body, as well as a 10-member National Advisory Committee and a five-member national patrons with Mr Buhari as the grand patron.

The committee is different from Buhari Campaign Organisation, which recently appointed the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as its Director-General and lawyer Festus Keyamo as the spokesperson and director for communications.

A popular Kano musician, Dauda Rarara, was also appointed national director for music, while a Nollywood actor and Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, was named the national publicity secretary.

The chief of staff to the Imo State governor and governorship aspirant of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Uche Nwosu, was named the national secretary.

However, the OSGF, on Saturday asked Nigerians to disregard the announcement by Mr Sammani.

A release issued by the spokesperson of the SGF, Lawrence Ojabo, said “the attention of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been drawn to documents in circulation in print and social media purportedly issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters in the Presidency as public notice, announcing the names of certain individuals and appointing them into different roles under the BUHARI 2019 PRESIDENTIAL SUPPORT COMMITTEE, as well as soliciting for support”.

Mr Ojabo said “it has become imperative to clarify to all Nigerians and in particular to APC members that the said documents are unauthorised, misleading and should therefore be totally disregarded”.

The SGF spokesperson said appropriate “administrative measures are being put in place to ensure that such lapse does not recur in future”.

Fayose Can't Escape Punishment For All His Sins - Sagay

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Ado-Ekiti

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has said Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has committed grievous sins in the last four years and will surely account for his actions someday.

Speaking in an interview with Daily INDEPENDENT, Sagay said Fayose, through his language, attitude and actions has been sinning against God especially by wishing death upon President Muhammadu Buhari during his illness.

“Fayose has been sinning against God in the last four years".

“Because when you pray and gloat over other people’s illness, when others are praying and expressing their good wishes, but you are praying for others to be sick, mocking and gloating, then you are forgetting that there is a God who is listening, seeing and supervising all things and one day, you will be visited by your sins.

“Fayose has committed a lot of sins in office; in his attitude, in his language, in his behaviour and actions. I have no doubt that one day, he will be called to account for his actions because he cannot do all those things and get away with it,” he said

Obasanjo Forgives PDP After PDP Apologized – Aide
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-14-2018, 07:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:FORMER President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has forgiven the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “bad conduct and mistreatment” meted out to him.

This is sequel to an apology tender to the former president by the PDP on Saturday. The party had in March apologised to Nigerians for its misgovernance pleading for a second chance.

The opposition party’s national chairman, Uche Secondus, led a 21-member delegation of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on a courtesy call on Mr Obasanjo, when the apology was tendered.

This is according Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, who made this known in a statement.

Mr Akinyemi said other issues raised by Mr Secondus were the situation in the country, the progress of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on grand alliance of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

He said the PDP national chairman also appealed with Mr Obasanjo to continue to proffer solutions to the nation’s socio-economic and political problems.

Mr Akinyemi said that Mr Obasanjo granted forgiveness to the party in line with biblical injunction.

He said the former president urged them to pay attention to issues that were needed to restore PDP as a party of good image, discipline, commitment, leadership and moral principles.

On CUPP being championed by PDP, he said Mr Obasanjo advised that the coalition should remain an alliance as being projected and not a merger.

“The MoU for grand alliance is what it says, a grand alliance. It is neither a merger nor absorption of any political party by any political party.

“It is clear for the parties which agreed to be members of the alliance to work together to achieve one important common objective at the national level for the election of 2019.

“Where it is appropriate and necessary, members may also form alliance and co-operation at the state level.

“The individuality and independence of each political party must be observed and respected by all parties concerned.

“It is also desirable that in the process of implementing the MoU to achieve the set objective, solidarity and focus on the objective must be maintained.

“Each member political party must be cautious of fake news, rumours, blackmail, and seeds of discord that may be sown among them from external quarters,” Mr Akinyemi quoted Mr Obasanjo as saying.

He said the former president at the meeting reiterated that he had quit partisan politics, but would continue to make himself available to guide any party that so desired.

Mr Akinyemi, however, maintained that he would prioritise his service to the African Democratic Congress.

Mr Secondus, who spoke with journalists shortly after the meeting, said the chieftains of the party were in Abeokuta to consult with Mr Obasanjo ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Governor Ambode Arrives Russia, Pledges To Send Stranded Nigerians Home
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-14-2018, 03:36 PM - Replies (3)

Governor Ambode of Lagos State arrived Russia last night for the World Cup finals between France and Croatia, and one of highlights of his arrival was that he pledged to help send Nigerians stuck in the country home.

Recall that we reported that a Russian NGO alleged that approximately 200 Nigerians are stranded in Moscow and 400 all over Russia. They came during the World Cup games in hopes to find jobs to Moscow, but got disappointed.

Instagram user @iampndgreat who disclosed the promise made by Governor Ambode in his post, wrote;

Not a Political Campaign but just appreciating a good and kind gesture by one of our noble Politicians in Nigeria.

The story goes thus:
I had a pick up arrangement today at the airport in Moscow and had a rare privilege of meeting his excellency, the governor of Lagos State; the most populous and commercial Hub of Nigeria. I quickly introduced myself while I waited for my pick up arrangement to come out. We had a small chat and exchanged knowledge and wisdom while I waited.
He bade me farewell as his pick up arrangement had arrived.
After a few minutes, my pick up arrived as well so we set out to the car park.
As soon as we came out of the airport, I saw a crowd of over 50 Nigerians who had been stranded at the airport for almost 10-15 days now. And in their middle was this same man, His excellency , Governor Ambode. As soon as he sighted me, he quickly called my attention to assist.

It was a pathetic state and a lot of words both pleasant and unpleasant were being exchanged. (Not apportioning blames on anyone )
Then his Excellency did something that amazed me. He showed solidarity and quickly pledged to send all 50 Stranded Nigerians home and assigned me to oversea the transfers and procurement of new tickets to send them home.
As I type this, 19 out of this 50 are already on air to Lagos Nigeria, the remaining 31 are leaving this evening.

His excellency also fed them all as he gave them cash to eat while they waited for their tickets to fly home.
I am only writing this to express my gratitude to a man that has shown that not all politicians are the same.
I am well aware that NFF Officials and some other Senior Government or well to do Nigerians are aware of the situation on ground but are yet to be of help.
Kindly help as much as you can.
Nigeria will only be built or destroyed by Nigerians.
The integrity of our Nation is at stake.
Follow this same example; If you have the well withal.
DISCLAIMER : THIS IS NOT A CAMPAIGN BUT A SIMPLE SHOW OF LIGHT IN THE MIDST OF DARKNESS.
Akinwunmi Ambode

This happened at the early hours of today along calabar express way,  on my way going to calabar with seven humans on it of which all survived including myself.

Our driver was trying to escape from a tanker which was in front of us of which he noticed late and on doing that,  he met another vehicle that was trying to overtake the tanker on this he diverted thinking he was going into the bush not knowing it was a big flowing river he took us to,  and this vehicle tumbled down three good times and landed us in that water

It is a great thing of joy that God could save a sinner like me from death,  I appreciate this all power God that He has put a testimony in my mouth'.

NiMET conditions of Service: ANAP scribe alleges death threat over agitation

NATIONAL General Secretary of  the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) has alleged a death threat has been issued to him over agitations for the condition of service for workers of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency NiMET.

Comrade Abdulrasaq Saidu the ANAP scribe said he has been threatened with death text messages.

Comrade Saidu, who briefed newsmen on the threat to his life at ANAP office in Ikeja, revealed that he got a call from a mobile phone number 08054969604 Tuesday morning at about 730 am while getting ready for work.

But explained that the due to poor network he could not get the voice of the person clearly adding that the person later sent text messages which reads as follow :”If you love yourself be careful if not the violent change you are planning will consume and all your co travellers. Be warned”

According to Comrade Saidu on getting the text message, he then responded as follow “Continue with ur threat.   Allah shall take control bcos Allah owns my life”

Saidu said the person again responded thus :

“You don’t any Allah you hypocrite. Why didn’t pick my call. I am going to trace you out if you think you can threaten an organisation from where you feed  every day unjustifiable nemesis will catch up with you very soon”

According the ANAP scribe, he resorted to true caller on his phone and the name that appeared was one Jigah of NiMET.

Saidu said he will never succumb to any blackmail from a coward in the pursuit of emancipation of injustice in the system stressing that the union was only agitating for the welfare of those that were working for the overall development of the aviation industry and other sectors that relied on Meteorological information for survival.

“I want to state categorically that am not undaunted and will not be deterred by any amount of threat or blackmail. I have notified the law enforcement agency and other security operatives about the ugly development”

“The owner of the said GSM number should be held responsible for whatever happens to me and I am very convinced that he will be fished out by the security agents in no distant time”

” I want to reiterate here that all we are saying is that six months ultimatum will elapse in August and we want workers welfare to be addressed. In an organization where there is no condition of service, how can workers have sense of belonging. We have been requesting for meeting with the management since last year but no response from them”

Saidu said there was no going back in ANAP’s plan about NiMET unless the management calls them for a meeting before the August deadline.

2019: Obasanjo, PDP Leaders Meet Today - New Telegraph.

Buhari will account for Abacha loot, says Secondus

Quote:Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), will on Saturday meet with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The parley, Saturday Telegraph gathered, is aimed at consolidating strategies aimed at ousting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in 2019. Ahead of the meeting which will be held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, PDP chieftains led by the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, arrived yesterday.

Secondus was accompanied by the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Walid Jubrin, former Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Olabode George, and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, among others. The delegation was received by the Ogun State chairman of PDP, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, and a House of Representatives member, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu who, with other chieftains, briefed the national leaders about the state of affairs in the state.

Secondus, while confirming the scheduled meeting with Obasanjo, restated the commitment of the PDP to take over reins of government in 2019. The national chairman explained that the opposition party had now been rebranded and repositioned, adding that Nigerians are yearning for the return of PDP to power. He said: “We are happy to be here and our mission is to come and consult with our father, our hero and father of this nation, President Olusegun Obasanjo. The meeting will take place tomorrow. “He is a warrior, he is a winner. The man who fought the battle and won, military and civilian.

That’s exactly what we are here to do.” Secondus, who expressed dismay over the myriad of problems in the country, accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of misgovernance and corruption. He chided Buhari and the APC for allegedly withdrawing the returned $322million Abacha loot and distributing it to those he described as “cronies.” While warning against mismanagement of the fund, the party chairman threatened that Buhari and officials of the incumbent administration will be held accountable for its spending. He argued that it was wrong and fraudulent to expend the looted funds without capturing such in the nation’s budget. Secondus said: “The mother of all corruption is currently happening in this government.

The Abacha loot; the money has been withdrawn from the bank and Federal Government is distributing cash. Is that how to run the economy of a nation? “We just want to assure Buhari and the APC that they will be held accountable for every kobo spent. There is no government that will put money in basket and be sharing it. PDP government that will take over in 2019 will ask them to refund the money.

“You are fighting corruption on one hand and you are engaging in corruption on the other hand. This government is in trouble. They have no choice; they are weak and they have nothing to offer.” On the Ekiti governorship election, Secondus expressed confidence in the ability of the PDP to record victory, stressing that the party would not succumb to intimidation under whatever guise. He said: “We are aware that the Federal Government is doing all it can to take Ekiti by force but God will not allow that.

Two days ago, there was a civilian coup in Ekiti but by the grace of God, normalcy has returned. “The country is going through a lot. The entire nation is waiting for PDP and we will not disappoint them. It is time for our people to take their destiny in their own hands. No amount of intimidation can stop the will of the people. The voice of the people is the voice of God.” Notable officials of the party in attendance included the Deputy National Chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, National Vice Chairman (South West), Dr Eddy Olafeso, National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, and Chief Onyema Ugochukwu.

Morning Devotional For Saturday 14th July

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 14TH JULY.

YOU’RE THE PRIEST IN YOUR TEMPLE.

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen (Revelation 1:6).

As a child of God, you belong in the royal priesthood; our opening text says we’ve been made kings and priests unto God, and every priest has to offer sacrifices (Hebrews 8:3). Your temple is your body; that’s the temple of the Holy Ghost. And as long as you’re in your physical temple—the living tabernacle that God has given to you, you have a job to do: to offer sacrifices. That’s the sole purpose for the temple as revealed in the Old Testament (2 Chronicles 7:12).

God is looking to have His sacrifices in your temple (your body), and you’re the priest over your temple. I can’t be the priest in your body, because it’s a private temple, exclusive to you. No wonder the Spirit, through Paul, writes in Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
1 Peter 2:5 says, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” We’re living stones, and are to offer spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. That let’s us know that not every sacrifice is acceptable; it has to be by the rules.
Remember, Cain offered to God sacrifices that weren’t acceptable, whereas Abel’s sacrifice was acceptable to God (Genesis 4:3-7). Cain brought to God what he chose to bring to God, and Abel brought to God what God asked for. Doing it by the rules is doing it according to the revealed pattern; doing it according to the Word.

The Apostle Paul says, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name” (Hebrews 13:15). The fruit of our lips in praise, worship, and confessions of His Name in testimony, are spiritual sacrifices we offer as priests in His temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I Thank you for the privilege to offer sacrifices as a priest, and honour you with my life. You’re the great God of glory, and in you alone lie strength and greatness. I worship you now and forever, for you’re gracious and kind, marvellous in all your ways. Thank you for making my life glorious, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Hosea 14:2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive [us] graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
2 Corinthians 6:15-16 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

I killed my boss because she asked me to start washing her panties – Suspect

Molly Kilete, Abuja

The suspect in the murder of a young businesswoman inside her home in CITEC Estate, Jabi Airport road bye-pass, Mbora District, Abuja, has given a full account of the friction that culminated in the murder of the night of May 14, 2018.

The victim, Onise Ismail, popularly known as Ize, daughter of a serving police officer, was found stone-cold dead with multiple stab wounds on her thigh and a slit on her throat, and her body dumped in a generator house. Police officers from Life Camp Police Station, alerted by neighbours, took her body to the mortuary and immediately commenced an investigation into the murder. Neighbours had pointed accusing fingers at her recently fired security man, identified as Friday Jibo, a native of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. Before employing him, the deceased had taken him to the Life Camp Police Station for proper documentation, where he presented his credentials and contact numbers. Armed with vital information from the file, a detective had called the suspect on phone pretending he had a job for him and asked him to meet him around Garki market. Thus he was arrested four days after the murder. At the police station, Jibo confessed to the crime.
Saturday Sun had an interaction with the suspect––now in the custody of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT)––and the 28-year-old narrated how he met the young lady, what went wrong between them and why he had to kill his employer.
How we met

“I met her through an advert posted by the roadside requesting for a driver in February 2017. I called the number on the advert and the agent asked me to meet him at Jabi Airport junction. I have never met him before and he didn’t know me too.

He took me to the woman’s house
At her house, she told me she would be paying me N20, 000 monthly and I had protested that the kind of work she wanted me to do for her deserved more than the N20, 000 she was offering me. Apart from working as a security guard, I would also work as a cleaner and also wash her car. She told me to start first, promising to add something for me with time. I accepted and started to work with her.

Two months later, she told me my duties would now include washing her clothes and that I would no longer close early like I used to. She told me I would henceforth close whenever she asked me to close for the day. I agreed without complaining.
Initially, when I resumed the work I didn’t have any problem with her, but with time, the problems began to surface. That was when I started planning on how to kill her. I worked with her from February 2017 to April 2018, before I killed her.

The major misunderstanding I had with the woman came after she started assigning more work for me, which did not go down well with me.
She ordered me to start washing her panties and sweeping the compound. I was angry and reminded her that she had not finished paying my salary for the previous month because she paid me N15, 000, instead of the N20, 000 we agreed. But before then, she had always paid me my complete salary.”

The day I killed her

“When the devil wants to do his thing, there is a way it pursues the accursed individual. The devil really pursued me. Otherwise, I hardly get angry like that. That is why I believe the devil has a hand inside the whole matter.

Before the incident, I had stopped working with her. Ocassionally, she used to call me to come and help her do some things. Whenever she called, I would go and assist her. Sometimes, I would assist her to bring her consignments from the airport because she was a businesswoman.

On the day I killed her, I went to her house at 6 pm, at a time I knew she would not be at home. Gaining entry into her house was not a problem because her gate was always open. When I got there, all I did was just open the gate, went in, hid inside the generator house until 8 pm when she drove in and parked her car.

She went straight to switch on the generator because there was no light. I attacked her as soon as she entered the generator house, stabbing her several times on the thigh. She begged me not to kill her and promised to give me one million naira; I nearly stopped, but I was very angry. I continued to stab her in the thigh and thereafter, I cut her throat and she died. The knife I used to kill her, it was the two of us that went to the market to buy it. When I was sure she was dead, I went in and searched her house. I locked the doors and went to my own house at Karu to relax.”

Three days of freedom

“When I got home that night, I wanted to go to the police station to report the matter. Before I started working with her, she took me to Life Camp Police Station where I submitted relevant documents. I wanted to go and report the incident. Somehow, I didn’t go.
Three days after the incident, I received a call from somebody asking me to come to Garki market to meet him. I didn’t know the person calling me was a police officer. When I got there, they arrested me and took me to the police station.

The man who interrogated me asked me if I was aware of what happened to my madam and I said yes. He told me to tell him the whole truth and that was how I opened up to him, I told him how I killed her.

But before I opened up to the policeman, I, first of all, lied that it was her boyfriend that killed her because I know one man that used to come to her house every time. When I saw that it didn’t work, I had to tell him that nobody sent me, that I did the killing alone. They really beat

Shehu Sani And Suleiman Hunkuyi Leave APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district zone and Suleiman Hunkuyi, his counterpart in Kaduna north senatorial district, have left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tom Maiyashi, chairman of the Akida faction and Ja’afaru Abas Ibrahim, legal adviser of the Restoration Group, announced the decision of the two groups to leave the APC at a joint press conference on Friday in Kaduna.

Sani and Hunkuyi belonged to the Akida” and “Restoration Group” factions of the APC.

The two senators have been engaged in a prolonged rivalry with Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state.

Maiyashi, who spoke for the groups, said the decision to leave the APC was taken after wide and extensive consultations with stakeholders.

“This joint press conference is the culmination of extensive reviews and consultations over the state of the All Progressives, Congress (APC) in Kadun State as well as in the nation,” he said.

“As you will appreciate, groups such as ours that had been on the frontline of the efforts to keep our party along the lines of survival, accountability and integrity, will be diligent in ensuring that whatever steps we take, are consistent with our high sense of responsibility.

“We are satisfied that the positions we have arrived at are in the best interests of our members and the on going-efforts to create options and strategies that will rid our nation of undeserved and avoidable challenges.

“Members of our two groups have decided to leave the APC because it is incapable of accommodating and responding to well-meaning dissent, criticism and demands for inclusiveness and internal democracy.”

The two groups advised their teeming members to formalise their withdrawal from the APC.

Although the two groups did not disclose where they will pitch their tent, Maiyashi however, said discussions were going on whether with political parties that share their values and principles.

“We want to commend the resilience and commitment of our members in the face of institutionalised exclusion, marginalisation and abuse. We urge them all to keep faith” Maiyashi said.

Barack Obama Hails Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Adichie Ahead Of Visit To Africa
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-13-2018, 07:46 PM - Replies (1)

Former US president, Barack Obama is set to visit Africa again for some events. The visit is the first time the former leader will be traveling to Africa since he left office last year.

Barack Obama will launch a civic leadership programme by the Obama Foundation after selecting 200 rising leaders from forty-four African countries. The programme will be launched by former US President Barrack Obama on July 14 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Obama took to his social media page to hail late Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe among others ahead of his visit.

Read what he shared below;

This week, I’m traveling to Africa for the first time since I left office – a continent of wonderful diversity, thriving culture, and remarkable stories.

I was proud to visit sub-Saharan Africa more times than any other sitting President, and I’ll return this week to visit Kenya and South Africa. In South Africa, the Obama Foundation will convene 200 extraordinary young leaders from across the continent and I’ll deliver a speech to mark the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. Kenya, of course, is the Obama ancestral home. I visited for the first time when I was in my twenties and I was profoundly influenced by my experiences – a journey I wrote about in my first book, Dreams from My Father.

Over the years since, I've often drawn inspiration from Africa's extraordinary literary tradition. As I prepare for this trip, I wanted to share a list of books that I’d recommend for summer reading, including some from a number of Africa’s best writers and thinkers – each of whom illuminate our world in powerful and unique ways.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

A true classic of world literature, this novel paints a picture of traditional society wrestling with the arrival of foreign influence, from Christian missionaries to British colonialism. A masterpiece that has inspired generations of writers in Nigeria, across Africa, and around the world.

A Grain of Wheat by Ngugi wa Thiong’o

A chronicle of the events leading up to Kenya’s independence, and a compelling story of how the transformative events of history weigh on individual lives and relationships.

Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela

Mandela’s life was one of the epic stories of the 20th century. This definitive memoir traces the arc of his life from a small village, to his years as a revolutionary, to his long imprisonment, and ultimately his ascension to unifying President, leader, and global icon. Essential reading for anyone who wants to understand history – and then go out and change it.

Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

From one of the world’s great contemporary writers comes the story of two Nigerians making their way in the U.S. and the UK, raising universal questions of race and belonging, the overseas experience for the African diaspora, and the search for identity and a home.

Ekiti Poll: APC justifies deployment of 30,000 policemen
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 03:26 PM - No Replies

All Progressives Congress (APC) says the deployment of 30,000 police officers to Ekiti is necessary to ensure peace and order during the governorship election in the state on Saturday.

The party stated its position in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abudullahi, in Abuja on Thursday.

The party’s position was in response to claims by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the policemen were deployed to harass its supporters to favour APC’s Governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi

“As usual with elections, extra security deployment is routine to keep the peace for credible and transparent elections.

“With PDP’s claim in its press statement, it is obvious that its leadership does not have the facts of the actual events in Ekiti State or it is deliberately attempting to divert public attention,” APC stated.

It described the attitude of Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti on Wednesday as comical, saying it was clearly contrived to give the public impression that he was being persecuted.

“Somehow, Fayose has contrived to make this election about himself but it is not: the contest is between Dr Fayemi and the professor that has continued to hide behind Fayose’s fingers.

“What is clear to every voter in Ekiti is that to vote for this professor is to hand Fayose a third term, given their horrid experience with him, they have wisely rejected them both,” APC stated.

According to the party, PDP in Ekiti has read the hand-writing on the wall and knows that it has lost the election and is only saving face with wild allegations.

The party added that the story of how Fayose used security agencies to manipulate the last election was still fresh in the memory of the people of Ekiti.

“Unfortunately for him, he has no such opportunity this time, winning a free and fair election is a strange territory to him and that’s why he is looking stranded.

“It is therefore, mischievous of PDP to continue to claim that the police assaulted Fayose on Wednesday after Fayose himself has apologised to the police authorities for lying against their officers,” APC said.

It maintained that the ultimate decision about who would govern Ekiti was with the people , which they would make on the principle of one man one vote. (NAN)

N4.8trn Bad Debt: Senate To Allow AMCON Publish Debtors’ List
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 07-13-2018, 03:24 PM - No Replies

Quote:The National Assemble has been enjoined to as a matter of urgency empower the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to go after recalcitrant obligors.

Sen. Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, made the plea on Thursday in Lagos.

Ibrahim, who delivered a keynote address at the opening of a two-day retreat on the importance of AMCON Act Amendment Bill, said the corporation  had been up and doing.

He said AMCON had tried its best over the past seven years to resolve those debts, but was still encountering resistance from obligors.

He said that the only way AMCON could meet its mandate of achieving the mandate for which it was set up in 2010.

He said the Senate under,  the leadership of Sen. Olubukola Saraki, had no option than to urge AMCON to compile and publish the list of all debtors in major daily newspapers in the country.

The move, he said, would place before Nigerians who were holding the nation’s economy to ransom since they account for 80 per cent of AMCON’s N4.8trillion obligation.

He said that the Upper Chamber, as part of its oversight function, had decided that AMCON in its lifespan, must be given all the support it required to perform as expected by all Nigerians.

He, however, urged the management of AMCON to collaborate with the other relevant bodies to propose that the President issued  an executive order on seizure of assets of persons who were indebted to AMCON.

He said that Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF), office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Central Bank of Nigeria should champion the move for the order.

Ibrahim said the upper chamber planned to have serious discussions with major stakeholders such as the CBN, the FMF, the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and relevant committees from the legislature among others.

This, he said, would allow them to deliberate on issues hindering AMCON from performing optimally which include the funding of its model to enable the recovery agency finish its assignment.

“The Upper Chamber will at this stage bare its fangs by amending the AMCON Act because AMCON has been a key stabilizing and re-vitalizing tool in the Nigerian financial system.

“It will be supported by the legislature to enable the corporation achieve its statutory objectives,” Ibrahim said.

He said the legislature supported the proposed plan by AMCON to publish the list of the 350 obligors that accounts for nearly 80 per cent of the total huge debt of the corporation.

Earlier, the Managing Director of AMCON, Mr Ahmed Kuru, reminded the committee that failure by the corporation to recover its debt, principally owed to the CBN, could not be quantified beyond economic cost.

Kuru said that AMCON’s total debt obligation of N4.8 trillion represented more than 55 per cent of the 2018 national budget.

Given the current demands on the Federal Government, Kuru said he was convinced that the government could afford to check AMCON’s debt in the short term.

He said:“It was for that reason, AMCON, after seven years of negotiating with the obligors with no commensurate recovery result, has decided to change its strategy.

“The corporation now pays strict attention to enforcements as a way of compelling, especially the recalcitrant obligors to come and pay up their debts.

`One of the major areas for amendment is the matter of vesting proprietary interest of all collateral assets acquired by AMCON from commercial banks.

“The proposed amendment will have retrospective effect.

“The vesting of proprietary interest of all collateral assets in the resolution vehicle was implemented in Malaysia and was instrumental to their success in recovering debt obligations.

“Our second challenge has to do with the disposal of assets due to the economic downturn.” (NAN)

Three men died, on Thursday, after being struck by lightning following a downpour in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun.

The incident occurred opposite the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium road in Ijebu-Ode at about 3 pm.

It was gathered that the victims, and a fourth person, had disembarked from their motorcycles and ran toward a makeshift shelter for the rains to subside when tragedy struck.

The three victims were said to have been hit while the fourth person took to his heels unharmed.

Bystanders refrained from going near the corpses for fear that the occurrence was related to perceived punishment from Sango, the god of thunder, for wrong doing.

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) Episode 23

           ❣️Phateemah Taheer❣️

          *Yumna's POV*

You never really know how happy you can be till your dreams begin to come true.

The fast five days have been the best days of my life....I have experienced the kind of happiness and attention i have always dreamed of.....

And yes, my wedding was a bomb and would be in the media for longggggggggggggg.....I wish the days will happen all over again....That wonderful Kamu/ bridal shower and all the dollars that were sprayed on me....And yes the eventful dinner that was attended by wives of governors, senators ,ministers and people who have a say in our country....."God I'm one hell of a lucky girl"....i said as i laid in bed.

"Honey you still in bed, we will be late for the embassy".....Emjay said coming out of the bathroom with towel in his hand....

"that visa will be granted even if we don't go to the embassy, so chill honey"......i said slowly getting out of bed....."Ok....don't say lefi nane if something goes wrong".....Emjay said smiling at me......"It wont hun"....i said entering the bathroom...

In a country where everything works on connection, getting the whole visa application and processing done within 2days was literally as simple as dumping Aaa.......No! Dumping Aaa was a bit harder ma yasin...

"Hun we will be late".....Mujaheed screamed from down stairs...."I had to touch up my make up"....i said running down the stairs......"You look beautiful ".....He complimented....."Nasani ai".....i replied with so much confidence....."Honey moon....yayy"....i said with so much excitement.

"Are you sure you packed everything"....Mujaheed said fastening his seatbelt...."If by that you mean the Lingerie, bikini and stuff...yes i did.....i said giving him a wink..

We arrived at the airport a bit late thanks to me....We checked in all our stuff and Mujaheed was already at departure when i bumped into Shaheeda...."Hey girl friend".....i said giving her a mild hug....."Amarsu ta ango".....Shaheeda said filled with smiles....

"What are you doing here?"....i asked curiously....."Inquiries,going to London next week to visit my sister and her hubby, visa is out so i just dropped by for their flight schedule and stuff"....Shaheeda said smiling....

"Shay , internet has made everything easy for us,why did you bother to drop by".....i asked....."Well Ahmad wanted to see someone here too and i was bored staying home, and he went home to drop a message from his mum to mine so i decided to seize the opportunity to get out of the house".....Shaheeda said...

"This call is for passengers of KLM flight AJ2214 non stop to Los angeles, please board the aircraft at gate 8"....an announcer said and my eye twitched.

"Oh Ahmad, he is here?"....i said turning to look at the crowd....."Yeaaa he is here someone".....Shay said looking around......"Anyways nima honey moon zamu tafi, Emjay would be waiting for me....i should go....do have a wonderful time in London".....I said and hugged her again....

Shay was about to leave when i called out to her...."Advice Aaa to get a girl and settle down, thats the only way he will get over me because i know he is still obsessed with me...bye".....i said with a broad smile and left Shay standing there...

I proceeded to gate 8 and met Emjay standing there already...."Lets go"...i said jumping into his arms..."after you"...he said with a cute smile.

Honey moon here i come....God, roundtrip....US,hawaii, Paris, and then Home......na gaba yayi gaba...

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) Episode 24

          ❣️Phateemah Taheer❣️

          *Shaheeda's POV*

Nothing is more terrifying than forgetting what someone special was like...It hurts so bad when you watch people you once loved turn into a shadow of themselves. It hurts that Yumna is no longer the sweet childhood friend i loved and adored....She is completely different....I was her only friend while growing up so I can't even pin her change in attitude on bad company..

"you have been quiet throughout the ride home"....Aaaa said pulling over at our drive way...."Have i"...i asked with a grin....."ofcourse"....Ahmad said with a smile....."Shay i need to tell you something"......Ahmad said stammering.....

"ok"....i said turning sharply to look at him...."But before then,i want you to know no one has the power to intimidate you unless you give them the will to".....Aaaa said wisely...

"What do you mean"....i asked nervously....

"I saw you talking to Yumna earlier at the airport, i dont know what you talked about because i was watching from a distance, but i know what it is she said, is hitting you hard...Don't ever let Yumna get to you...She has a way of getting what she wants, always, but i want you to know what she thinks or says doesn't matter".....Ahmad said and paused.

"She said".....i began to talk before Ahmad interrupted me...."I don't care what she said...i really don't...as far as i am concerned Yumna is a story for the gods, long forgotten, she doesn't matter to me anymore and she means nothing to me,so whatever she had to say to you doesn't matter to me, i know its nothing good, she makes people feel little about themselves, making her and only her seem like the only capable and sensible person in a room".....Ahmad said and sighed.

"You just made my day...what she said was really getting to me and I'm happy i have someone like you to make me realise these things...Thanks Aaaa".....i said with a smile.

"I'm glad you are ok now"....He said with a super amazing smile I couldn't help but notice...."I should go, mama na jirana, we have something we need to finalize today wallahi".....Ahmad said and turned to enter his car...

"Ok, but hold on".....i said and Ahmad turned to look at me....."What is it you said you wanted to tell me?"...i asked curiously.....

"i am getting married Shay".....Ahmad said and i could hear my heartbeats getting more rapid....."You...You .....uuu....are?"....i asked stammering...

"Yes Shay, its about time dont you think?".....Ahmad asked....."I lost my bestie and you replaced her, i was ok because i had you....how am i suppose to cope alone now?...how?..."I said almost in tears.....

"Subhannallah you wont lose me Shay, never i promise...i am still your best friend and i will always be...i was your best friend since you were 7 and i was 10, what makes you think things would change".....Ahmad said sounding concerned.

"Everyone changes after marriage, everything changes after marriage...You will have time only for your wife, she might get uncomfortable with me and when the kids come all the time you have in the world would be for them...She will be your wife, your life time companion, your partner and your new best friend".....i said literally crying..

"C'mon Shay"....Ahmad said laughing out loud....."I don't need a new best friend when i have you....Mama and i have been talking for weeks and she even asked your Mum for her opinion and she gave a go ahead, the problem is from me right now and i need to solve that problem today".....Ahmad said sounding worried.

"You dont have to marry her if you don't love her".....i said wiping my face with the back of my hand....

"Shay you have been there for me ever since we were kids, you were always my pillar of support, you never judged me or made me feel inferior, you correct me when i am wrong and fight my battles when I'm helpless....i needed you for all those hard times and i need you now...i need you to help me get married".....Ahmad said softly with eyes filled with love and care...

"How? You know I'd do anything for you....i don't want to sound selfish...i hate that you are getting married and leaving me, but it'd selfish of me to stop you...so tell me how i can help my gwauro bestie get hitched"....i asked with a soft smile......

"Help me get married by marrying me Shay....I told my mum and she has never been happier....i hate that it took me this long to realise you have always been the one made for me....please please say yes".....Ahmad said pleading so hard.

Omg...omg....i stood there like a statue, emotionless and almost feeling life less.

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) Episode 25

      ❣️Phateemah Taheer❣️

         *Shaheeda's POV*

Sometimes you never know how to react to certain situations, especially when you are taken off guard or when they take you by surprise.

I couldn't move an inch or utter a word....but i knew i had to say something,i mean, my brain knew something had to be said but my lips just couldn't form the words...

"Shay it's fine,it's totally fine wallahi...You don't have to answer or accept right away...you can take all the time in the word that you need to think about this, i want us to take things slow....till you feel ready,if you ever feel ready, thats....tha....ts af....ter....you accept and say yes ofcourse"......Ahmad stammered all the way.....

I stood there and still couldn't say anything....I honestly don't know how i feel about all this...Ahmad is my friend,my childhood,my best friend and my almost the most favorite person in the world....Our friendship is deep, i love him as a friend, what i dont know is if somewhere in that deep friendship is deep love

"You don't have to marry me as a guy, marry me as your best friend,i knew this would be hard for you, and that was honestly why it took me weeks to say anything, mama suggested that your mum tells you, but i wanted to tell you myself but couldn't"....Ahmad said.

"Shay please say something".....Ahmad said anxiously and eagerly.......

"Married to my best friend".....i said raising a brow...."That sounds cool,I'm all in".....i said happily...."Yes".....Ahmad said almost giving me a hug.....

"Chill dude, don't hug me...we aren't kids anymore".....i said and we laughed it off...

"it would be amazing ,Allah....we would carry all our childhood craziness to our home".....Aaaaa said happily...

"Do you remember you used to help me un-plait my hair and wash my undies and ka raka ni gidan kitso and wait for me to finish holding up the N50 for biyan me kitson"....i said jokingly...

"We stopped all those along the way, we grew up....i always felt growing up was such a trap".....Ahmad said laughing out...

"Allah ya nuna mana ya bamu zaman lafiya".....i said with a smile on my face..."Ameen ya Allah.....10months to go".....Ahmad said..

"Haha...Sannu da saka mana rana...We should let our parents"....i said giggling....."No for real fah,our parents decided this yesterday"....Ahmad said sounding serious.

"Oh dama abunda mama tazo yi jiya kenan....but why did anyone not tell me?"....I asked curiously...."Because i begged them not to....If anyone of our mums had told you by themselves, you would have been compelled to say yes even if you don't want to, i want you to marry me because you want to,not because you were forced to".....Ahmad said giving me a wink.

"Okkk but why 10months?...kawai a cike shekara daya mana yafi dadin lissafi"....i said and we both laughed..

"I told you i had to tell you this today no matter what, and we went to the airport for a reason too"....Aaaa said..."What reason?"....i asked....

"I have to live for the U.S the day after tomorrow, i got admission for an MPH program, i was meaning to tell you but I couldn't because i thought if you hear zanyi tafiya ba lallai ki amince da proposal ena ba"....Ahmad said softly..

"I wish i knew earlier, would have applied too mu tafi tare tunda 9months ne kawai and i have always wanted MPH too"...I said a bit sad..

"Our parents won't let both of us be in the same country, the same school, alone, just the two of us since there's a commitment between us now".....Ahmad said sounding reasonable.

"Hakane....Allah ya nuna mana ya kaika lafiya ya dawo da kai lafiya"....i said with a smile.

"i should go,will come see you tomorrow evening to say goodbye"....Aaa said.

"No goodbye tomorrow,ni zan kaika airport,I'm your only bestie,so ka lallaba ni in kaika"....I said jokingly..

"ok dear"...Aaa said

Ahmad left leaving me in deep thoughts, marrying my best friend isnt the issue, staying married to the person whom you have no love history with is the main issue now...I holpe we get through this....i really hope we do.

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) Episode 26

        ❣️Phateemah Taheer❣️

         *Ahmad's POV*

        *9 months later*

The past 9months have been the most amazing 9months of my life....I have learned alot from people from all walks of life...Having Shay as my back bone and strong pillar of support has been amazing and i am getting i am back to her.

I admit it was akward at first,we have been friends since we were kids and have never known anything but that friendship,it was weird being a couple after being friends for so long, but with time we got used to everything...

I always somehow knew i had feelings for Shay long before Yumna came into our lives,to her i was just a friend but to me she was more than a friend....I really did wanted to take Shay to prom, and the day i decided to ask her,she popped up Yumna's feelings for me,that day I realised Shay feels nothing for me,otherwise she wouldn't have pleaded for me to take Yumna to prom.

As Allah always have his ways,we failed,Yumna and i failed woefully and today Shay and i are standing stronger and stronger and I couldn't have wished for anything more.....

"Ahmad har yanzu baka tafi ba?".....my mum said strolling into the parlor....."Leaving now".....i said with a smile....."Here"....she said handing me something in a shopping bag...."Give this to Shaheeda, kace in gaishe da ita da kyau da kyau".....Mama said...

"Toh mama zataji".....I said still sitting down....."Ka tashi mana...You have been away for 9months,and ka dawo tun jiya and you haven't gone to see her".....Mama said looking concerned.

"In bought her a new phone, iphoneX, perfs, shoes, bags and some English wears, tunani nake if i should get some chocolates yanxu in hada ko in bari daga baya then i ll buy the chocolate"....I said without stopping to catch my breathe.....

"Ahmad kenan"....Mama said laughing...."I'm sure Shaheeda is not after what you will take down to her,all she would be happy to see would be you,not your gifts".....Mama said calmly..

"Hakane kuma, its Shay....bata damu da abunda duniya ba"....i said getting up on my feet...."Sai na dawo".....i said to mama leaving the parlor.

I got to Shaheeda's place and waited anxiously for her in the parlor....."Ahmad".....Shay's mum said...."Naam mama ina wuni".....i said bowing down to great her...."Lafiya qalau, hope an gama Masters lafiya?"....She asked....

"Alhamdulillah mama"....i replied....."Toh Allah yasa albarka".....She added...."Ameen ya Allah"....i said with a smile...

Shay came into the parlor the  moment i raised a glass of juice to my lips....."Omg"....i said without even realizing i have said it......"Omg...I can't believe you are back"....Shay said sitting beside me.

"Sometimes i wish we are still kids wallahi"....I said looking at her so lovingly without blinking till my phone started to ring....I picked up the phone looked at the caller and rejected the call.

"Why?".....she asked curiously with a smile...."So i could hug you so tight".....i said shyly and Shay stood up immediately from where she was sitting and sat as far away from me as possible.

"I have missed you".....I said...."Which side of me?".....Shay asked jokingly...."How many sides of you are there?".....i asked wondering what she meant...

"The girlfriend side and the best friend side".....Shay said laughing and she has never looked more beautiful....

"You are one and the same thing now....My wifey to be,my best friend,my baby and countless other things"....i said and She blushed...I couldn't take my eyes off her again till my phone started ringing again and again i rejected the call...

"Well i have missed you too....Thanks to technology for Skype and whatsapp video call, otherwise I wouldn't have known how to cope without you here"....Shay said excitedly.

"Wallahi fah, me neither but i still....."i said before the call came in again, interrupting me...

I looked at the phone and rejected the call again...Shay looked me curiously and i could sense the suspicion beginning to grow inside of her.I silently prayed she won't ask me who the caller is,because i cant bear to lie to her, and I can't bear to hurt her by telling her Yumna's marriage ended 3months ago and she has been calling me endlessly ever since....I can't hurt her with neither the truth, nor the lie.

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) Episode 27

         ❣️ Phateemah Taheer❣️

         *Ahmad’s POV*

When you care about someone, you become concerned about how they feel, how they think and how they see you.You try as much as you possibly can to not hurt them with the truth or with the lie.

Sitting there looking at Shay’s curious eyes just made me speechless....i knew i had to be careful about my choice of next words....Whatever i say next, either the truth or the line will have its own implication...

“Is there something you want to tell me?Something i should know?”....Shay asked curiously and suspiciously....

“Uhmmm...Shay I don’t know how to say this...i really don’t”.....I said nervously....”How to say what?...just tell me what is going on? Is there another girl in your life?”.....Shay said frankly.

“Haba dai...Shaheeda you know me better than this, atleast give me the benefit of the doubt”.....i said calmly...

“Then tell me why Yumna is calling you”.....Shay said angrily...

I looked at her in shock, not knowing what to say and how she possibly found out it was Yumna that was calling me..

“How ...how...did you ..know it was Yumna that......”i said stammering....

“Because she called me last night to ask me if you have returned....i dont know how she even knew baka nan”....Shay said lowering her gaze....”Facebook...and what exactly did she say”....I asked.....

Shaheeda’s mum raced into the sitting room holding her veil....Shaheeda and i both stood up immediately wondering what could have happened to make her that worried.....”We have to go to Yumna’s house yanzu”.....Mama said..

“but why?”....Shay said.....”She consumed poison and her mother called me to please come along with you both”.....Mama said anxiously.

We immediately made our way to the drive way and drove off to Yumna’s place....The drive seemed longer that Usual even though i was driving at 100km/h......

We got to Yumna’s House after about 15minutes drive and met every member of the house hold in Yumna’s room....Her mother was crying uncontrollably while her father kept shaking his head..

“What happened?”....mama asked....”So take ta mutu kafira”.....Her father said in anger and walked away....”In banda hauka, da rashin tawwakkali why would any sane muslim attempt suicide just because of a bad marriage that ended in divorce”.....Yumna’s mother said and Shay and her mum looked at eachother.....Shay’s mother dragged Yumna’s mother out of the room leaving Shay and i alone with Yumna.

“Yumna”.....i said to her as she opened her eyes.....”Aaaa I’m sorry don’t leave me again”......Yumna said crying....

“Aaa i messed up”.....Yumna said crying so much i could hardly make out what she was saying....

“Yumna stop crying and tell me what happened”.....I said calmly and turned to look at Shay who’s expression was beginning to change.....

“I dont know what happened...i realy dont know what got into me or what i saw in Mujaheed....i really dont know what i did or why i did what i did....Mujaheed lied to me....everything changed after our wedding....The only marital bliss i had was 2weeks into our marriage”.....Yumna said still crying...

“But you guys looked happy even the last time i saw you at the airport when you were about to go for your honey moon you looked so happy”......Shay said sounding shocked.

“I was happy,we were happy....everything changed while we were away on honeymoon....Mujaheed left me at our hotel room and chased other girls....he would party till dawn with other girls, sometimes even shamelessly in front of me...Mujaheed never prayed....He doesn’t wake up for Fajr prayers and never fasted through out the month of Ramadan....Things got worse when we came back from our honey moon, his sisters were always rude to me, his mum rained insults on me for the slightest of things....Mujaheed would often come back home drunk and would beat me to a pulp if i provoked him....I was pregnant and Mujaheed beat me till i had a miscarriage....Things got out of hand when he started bringing other girls into our matrimonial home,on our matrimonial bed, and i just couldn’t take it...i packed my things and attempted to leave, but he looked me up in a room with no food and no water and would come in to beat me till i start to plead for my life....i managed to escape and ran home....My parents and i took the case to court, but his father bribed the judges and hindered justice for what Mujaheed his son did to me....His father is influential and as long as he has that wealth at his disposal i will never be able to get justice in a country like ours for what he did to me”.....Yumna said and bursted out to tears....

“Please take me back....love me again Aaa....even if it is half as much as you used to....dan Allah”......Yumna said pleading so hard......

“Its ok Yum....stop crying dan Allah”.....i said sounding concerned.....Shay looked at us and stood up angrily and was about to leave the room when i held her hand and stopped her.

On one hand is Yumna and on the other is Shaheeda....Ya Allah....Ya Hayyu ya Qayyum...

LOVE AT FIRST FLIGHT (haduwar mu) FINAL EPISODE  *Season 6 finale*

              ❣️Phateemah Taheer❣️

                *Ahmad’s POV*

As humans,no matter how bad a situation is or what a person did the fact still remains the heart wants what it wants....

Once upon a time i loved Yumna with my whole life,my whole being....With what is happening to her I can’t help but feel pity for her....”Don’t go”.....i said holding Shay back.....”Seems like you guys need some sort of privacy”.....Shay said angrily...

“No we don’t”....i said and immediately Yumna looked up at me.....”Aaaaa please....Shay please....You are my best friend, and i know there’s nothing you wouldn’t sacrifice for me, it was hard enough that my marriage crashed, but what was more painful was when i had to hear that you and Ahmad got engaged,I confirmed it when i saw him posting your pictures with cute captions on Facebook and instagram....Shay i know i messed up....Ke budurwa ce and you can easily find someone else, but ni fa?Ahmad is the only saurayi that i know will accept me....and I honestly cannot find settle for less than Saurayi....Shay I’m barely 22 and I’m still very pretty....Shay please”.....Yumna said looking at Shay with sorry eyes..

“Yumna”....Shay said closing her eyes....”I know the kind of bond you and Aaaa had,and i know what its like to be with someone who thinks of someone else....believe me this isn’t my decision to make....Its Aaa’s.....If there’s even a slightest chance that Aaaa still wants you then i would back out because I wouldn’t want to be with someone who is in love with someone else”.....Shay said calmly.

I closed my eyes to get a grip of what was going on around me....Somehow my heart just kept wishing this is some sort of bad dream....but in my heart i knew it wasn’t....Its the cold hard reality hitting me hard.....

I opened my eyes to see Shay about to leave the room...I got up immediately and body blocked her......”Where are you going to?”.....i said.....”Aaa,you hesitated....you are giving what Yumna said a thought and that should tell me something....I understand....so just let me go”.....Shay said with a shaky voice almost crying....

I went back to where Yumna was sitted.....”I’m sorry Yumna,i am not with Shay because you chose to be with Mujaheed,i am with Shay because i was always destined to be with her....Shay has been there for me all our lives, and I can’t be anyone else now that i know what its like to be with someone who cherishes and love me with all her heart and fisabilillah too...Shay is my life....and i hope you find someone who you will cherish too and someone who you can love fisabilillah”.....I said and turned to leave the room with Shay....Shay and i looked at eachother and smiled on our way out of the room..

“Ahmad,ku kama gabanku ku tafi,Yumna has to live with what she did....She chose this life, let her enjoy it”......Yumna’s father said......

“Ahmad is there any chance that you and Yumna could.......”......”No there isn’t...:Shaheeda and Ahmad are getting married next month, and thats it....No going back”.....My mum said interrupting Yumna’s selfish mother....

“Allah ya bata daidai ita”..My mum said and we all left the house.

          *11 MONTHS LATER*
***************************************

You hear about marital bliss and you get all these goosebumps and fantasies, but you never really know how the feeling is till you are into in, and till you wife is 9months pregnant too....The joy of being Shaheeda’s husband and the feeling of a father to be to a healthy baby is really thrilling....”Babe What are you thinking of?”......Shay sitting heavyly pregnant on the couch said looking at me....

“Can i ask you a question?”.....Shaheeda said sitting up?”......”Yes wifey,anything”.....i said massaging her feet.....”Why did you choose me?”...Shay said and I froze.....”Choose you?”.....i asked playing dumb....

“Yea you know....over Yumna....”......Shay quirked.......

“You were there for me long before Yumna came into my life, long after Yumna was gone you were still there for me, I couldn’t go back to Yumna just because she realised my worth after her marriage crashed......You are my life....you and our baby”......i said smiling so happily....

“and in shaa Allah we will be together forever and a thousand days more”.....Shay and we both smiled..
