Buhari Reacts To Saraki's Supreme Court Judgement Over False Assets Declaration

Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 03:16 AM - No Replies

President Buhari praises the senate president for fighting amidst all court cases and proving he is not guilt of anything.

In the series of tweets he tweeted through his official twitter call, he wrote the following

“Senate President @bukolasaraki has persevered through what has no doubt been a tortuous judicial process. In the end, he has established his innocence; the highest court of the land, the Supreme Court, says he is not guilty as charged.”

“This is exactly what I did in the three elections in which I contested, before 2015. I was cheated, and I went to court each time, a firm believer in the primacy of the rule of law. The fourth time, God made it possible for me to be victorious and emerge as President of Nigeria.”

CCB Charges: FG Wasted Three Years Fighting Political Enemies - Saraki
User Avatar Forum: Politics

•Ekweremadu congratulates Senate President

Quote:The President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, yesterday, came hard on the Federal Government of Nigeria, headed by President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing the government of wasting the last three years of its occupation of power to fight perceived political enemies in the country. Saraki also accused President Buhari of targeting only his political opponents in his fight against corruption, lamenting that the wasted years which would have been used to build unity among the various strata of the country were used to stoke the fire of division and rancour in the land.

The President of the Senate made these declarations in a statement he personally signed in Abuja, in which he reacted to the Supreme Court judgement, which upheld the earlier judgement of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), that he had no case to answer in the 18-point charge preferred against him for false assets declaration he allegedly committed in 2003, and thereby acquitted him.

He further lamented that instead of working together in the interest of the nation and to seek to do better for the people, those in government were busy fighting one another and using legal instruments to mount baseless accusations against one another, to the detriment of the people. Saraki expressed regrets that, as a result of the war of attrition, the various arms of government had wasted resources needlessly in the last three years of the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He maintained that his trial at the CCT was politically-motivated, insisting that the case was trumped up because of his emergence as the President of the Senate, against the wishes of certain political forces in the country, noting that if not for vested political interest, nobody would have brought up the issue of assets declaration that happened 15 years ago. Saraki described his CCT trial as a flagrant vilification of his person, and a clear demonstration that some people were after their personal interests rather than the national interest.

Recalling that his trial was a tortuous journey of 1018 days, Saraki said that though he believed in the need to fight corruption, but he would never be party to the selective application of the law or the rhetoric of an insincere anti-corruption fight. The statement which was personally signed by Saraki reads: “At the end of a tortuous journey of 1018 Days, counting from September 22, 2015, when the case began at the Tribunal, I am happy that I have been vindicated.

The Supreme Court has affirmed that there is no evidence of false declaration of assets. The court also observed that certain agents took over the responsibility of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in this trial, and one can infer that this was done towards a pre-determined end.

“This outcome has gladdened my heart and further strengthened my belief in this country and as well as my faith in the Almighty Allah, who is the righter of all wrongs. God has vindicated me today before the judgement of man, and I am most thankful and humbled at His grace and infinite mercies. “Through it all, I refused to be shaken, knowing, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, that the arch of the moral universe may be long, but it bends towards justice. I knew the day would come when justice would prevail and I would be exonerated.

have always believed in the infallibility of our Judiciary, secure in the knowledge that our courts – the last refuge of the oppressed – would never condemn the innocent. This outcome is also a vindication of my belief in the rule of law.

“As I said in my first appearance at the CCT, this is a politically motivated case. The case was trumped up in the first instance because of my emergence as the President of the Senate, against the wishes of certain forces. Ordinarily, I doubt anyone would be interested in the asset declaration form I filled over 15 years ago.

“What we have seen is the opposite. Instead of working together in the interest of the nation and to seek to do better for our people, we are fighting one another and using legal instruments to mount baseless accusations against one another. “Instead of exhibiting the need for unity and working day and night for that purpose, we are stoking the fire of division and rancour. I maintain that, above all else, my CCT trial has been a flagrant vilification of my person, and shows that some people are after their personal interests rather than the national interest.”

Petty Trader Impersonates As Doctor, Moves To Transplant Heart For Patient. PICS
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2018, 03:09 AM - No Replies

A 35-year old Mercy Duru Ezinne, a single mother of two, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating as a medical doctor.

According to reports, Mercy, whose highest educational qualification was as an auxiliary nurse, allegedly fooled her neighbors in the Oluwo area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, that she is a medical doctor attached to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, and had been living on that until recently when the bubble burst.

She has become a guest of operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Abeokuta.

A petty food stuff trader, Mercy was consulted to treat one Hassan Olawale who, according to her, was diagnosed of having heart problem, for which she suggested heart transplant.

Meanwhile, the ailing Hassan, currently in a critical condition in a private hospital within the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ibara, also in Abeokuta, has reportedly cried out to the effect that his condition has been deteriorating ever since the suspect began to treat him since three weeks ago, adding that he had so far parted with #400,000 to her for treatment.

Mercy spoke with Crimepuzzle. Hear her: "My name is Mercy Duru Ezinne. I am a 35-year old mother of two, living in Oluwo area, hear in Abeokuta. I am into food stuff trading but trained as an auxiliary nurse in Aba. People in community take me for a medical doctor because I always go there to see some of my friends. I am also trying to see if I can further my education in their school of nursing.

"Three weeks ago, one of my neighbors, who is also my patient, introduced Mr. Hassan Olawale to me. Since I didn't know what was wrong with him, I referred him to a laboratory where the result revealed that he has heart problem and infection.

"I told him (Hassan) to call his doctor, one Raji, who said his heart is not too bad for transplant but needs a life support machine which will cost #10million. Out of pity, I asked the doctor if there is no other way out. His response shocked me. He retorted that if I like him, I can as well give him my heart, for which I told him I can sacrifice mine for him", Mercy narrated.

The suspect thereafter, collected #400,000 from the victim and, according to her, "bought the drugs that are sensitive to his laboratory result, such as Rocephine Injection and drip", adding that, "Though, I am being accused of giving him Zolades Injection, which works for fibroid and hormonal health imbalances. That is untrue".

Mercy has consequently suggested taking Hassan before her German doctor in Accra, Ghana, and asked the family to raise money for the trip.

However, the state Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed, was obsessed by the development and has ordered that the suspect be charged to court.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has lamented the death of Mallam Adamu Ciroma, who died on Thursday at the age of 84.

Jonathan described the late former Minister of Finance and governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria as a patriot who played historic roles in the country’s development.

In a condolence message to the family of the deceased and the people of Yobe State, the ex-President noted that Ciroma left enviable records while serving Nigeria in various capacities.

A statement by the former President’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, quoted Jonathan to have further said Ciroma was a well-respected statesman and committed patriot.

He said, “It is almost impossible to find a man who bestrode and dominated the worlds of journalism and banking as he did. Mallam Ciroma played historic roles in the social and political development of Nigeria and his death is a sad loss to our nation.

“He will be remembered for his sagacity, leadership credentials and worthy contributions to the nation’s growth and development.”

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has said it is going to immortalise Ciroma; a former Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme; a former national chairman of the party, Solomon Lar; and other deceased founding fathers of the party.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, said this when he led members of the National Working Committee of the party on a condolence visit to the deceased’s family.

The PDP chairman, who extolled Ciroma’s role in the formation of the party, described him as an honest and disciplined nationalist.

He said of the party’s deceased leaders, “By the grace of God, something will be done to immortalise them. We will consult with other leaders.”

AfDB to invest $12bn in Nigeria’s energy, others

The African Development Bank has revealed plans to invest $12bn in Nigeria’s energy programme and other African countries.

A statement by the bank quoted the President, AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina, as saying this, adding that there was a need to act speedily to accelerate the plans to light up and power Africa.

He spoke during the inaugural edition of the Africa Energy Market Place on Friday.

“The bank has made a $12bn investment commitment to its new deal on Energy for Africa programme. Sub-Saharan Africa currently has 14 per cent of the world’s population and accounts for four per cent of global energy investment. Analysts at the bank note that several countries, including Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana and Kenya, are on track to reaching universal electricity access by 2030,” he said.

Adesina described the AEMP as an industry-wide collaborative platform convened by the AfDB to address barriers to mobilising and scaling-up private investment into the energy sector by bringing together key stakeholders in the continent’s energy sector.

He added that the workshop specifically sought to address Africa’s dismal energy and electricity production and consumption, which currently stood at 150kWh per capita.

The Director, Côte d’Ivoire Cabinet of Petrol and Renewable Energy Development Ministry, Jacques Chevalier, stated that energy held a critical role in Africa’s economic transformation, particularly in improving the living conditions of Africans.

Nigeria Suffering From Collapse Of Libya And Mali, Says Ita Enang

Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 07:18 PM - No Replies

Quote:Ita Enang, senior special assistant to the president on national assembly matters (senate), has attributed the high level of insecurity in the country to the “collapse of Libya and Mali”.

Speaking when he hosted students of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja on Friday, the presidential aide said the policy of the ECOWAS free movement protocol is having a negative effect on Nigeria.

The policy allows citizens of ECOWAS states to move freely in and out of any country in the region.

Making reference to the crisis in Plateau state, Enang said “What is happening now is not just ethnic or inter ethnic conflicts, it is pure terrorism. This terrorism is not caused within but without.

“They come in with arms. Whenever there is war or the collapse of any nation state, you will have a collateral effect.

“We are suffering not from ethnic problems, internal to Nigeria, but from the effects of the collapse of neighbouring countries like Libya and Mali.

“Under that protocol, you are to allow them so long as they are Africans.

“Our survival, unity and security of citizens are threatened as a country by this free movement and those who come in with evil intention.”

Enang said the federal government is doing everything within its powers to tackle insecurity.

He said the country is also considering reviewing the application of the ECOWAS policy as in order to reduce the effect of persons coming in to do havoc.

“This is because your country must be safe before you can be a member of the regional body,” he said.

He urged the students to have hope in the country, assuring them that things would get better.

“I urge you to come out and get involved in active politics and support the Federal Government, because this administration means well for the country,” he said.

rAPC Emergence Is Corruption Fighting Back – Oshiomhole
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 07:16 PM - No Replies

Quote:THE National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has described the emergence of ‘Reformed APC’ (rAPC) as corruption fight back.
Earlier in the week, a breakaway faction of aggrieved members of the ruling party emerged self-styling itself as ‘Reformed APC’

During its formation the rAPC described their former party as worst than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The faction largely made up of National Assembly members is led by Buba Galadima, a former leader of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a party to the signatory of a merger which saw the formation of the ruling party.

Mr Oshiomhole disclosed his opinion on the matter while addressing a delegation who claimed to be state chairmen of the CPC that came to disassociate themselves from the rebellious rAPC, on Friday.

The APC chairman who had earlier pleaded with the aggrieved members to be patient told his audience that the party could emerge victorious in the coming general election without the inputs of the splinter group.

“For me, there is no cause for alarm; nobody should panic over one Baba Galadima, whose group, I believe, cannot define us in the next election in 2019. Nigerians are wiser, they know that corruption is fighting back, they also know that President Buhari’s resolve to fight corruption must elicit a counter force and that force must find attraction in some people,” Oshiomhole said.

“But like we have rightly said, we should not be distracted and we encourage the president not to be distracted. He must remain focused and sustain the fight and I believe the rebellion will be crushed using the superior power of argument, persuading our people not to forget in a hurry where we are coming from,” he stressed.

Oshiomhole who emerged the chairman in the recently held national convention of the party had in his acceptance speech, acknowledged that the party had challenges, but promised they would be addressed.

Also, the splinter group had in their grievances noted that the process by which the former Edo governor emerged was unconstitutional judging from the constitution of the APC.

While reacting to Oshiomhole’s remarks about the rAPC being inconsequential, Mr Galadima, on a national television, said it was the ruling party members that lacked integrity and honesty.

The group also boasted of possessing enormous strength in the National Assembly to impeach anyone if there was need to do so.

“On that side, there is no man of integrity and honesty as Buba Galadima. Those of us that had sacrificed our sweat and blood cannot sit idly and watch these values destroyed, this is the beginning of what is called crisis in the party,” the leader of the splinter group boasted.

“We believe that all the values and visions of APC have been thrown to the dustbin. Nigerians from all walks of life have shown solidarity with us and for those who said that they are not losing sleep, why are they going cap in hand to the National Assembly.

“I want to say that today as I sit here, if I give a directive to our members in the National Assembly to impeach for constitutional infractions, it would be carried out because we have that majority,” he added.

Earlier, the leader of CPC delegation, Umar Shuaibu said contrary to insinuations from the opposition that the outcome of APC’s National Convention would lead to the disintegration of the APC, “it is to their dismay that we have not only come out successful, but have produced a National Chairman of the caliber of Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

“We wish to disassociate ourselves from the rAPC and their opposition to the President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Railway Scholarship Scandal: ICPC Begins Probe Of Buhari's Ministers, Others
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 07:14 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced investigations into the railway scholarship scandal involving top government officials, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

Investigations by this newspaper showed how some ministers and other top public officials cornered scholarships meant for young Nigerians.

The scholarship was offered by a Chinese firm, Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), for young Nigerians to study an undergraduate degree course in railway engineering in China.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how the scholarship scheme was cornered for ministers and other top public officials.

The top officials who benefitted were identified in a document used by the construction firm, CCECC, to permit selected candidates to participate in the scholarship interview. Some of the officials shown to have sponsored candidates include the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; the Minster of Communication Technology, Adebayo Shittu; and the Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru.

Only candidates whose names were on the document were allowed for the interview at the CCECC office in Abuja. Each of the names was typed close to that of the top official who nominated them as seen by PREMIUM TIMES.

Several other candidates who showed up for the interview without being on the ‘special’ list from the officials were stopped at the gate and were asked to get letters from a minister or permanent secretary of any ministry to participate. Most could not and were thus barred from the interview and the scholarship opportunity.

Following the reports, Nigerians demanded independent investigation and prosecution of the officials involved in the scandal.

THE INVESTIGATION

Reliable sources at the anti-graft agency told this paper that the investigation commenced on the matter last week.

The CCECC, which is providing the scholarship, was invited on Thursday, July 5. It sent its representatives.
They (the CCECC officials that came) “cooperated with the investigators,” a source at the agency said.

Another person summoned to answer questions on his roles in the scandal is Sabiu Zakari, the permanent secretary in the transportation ministry who wrote the letters asking top government officials to nominate candidates for the scholarship.

“The permanent secretary is expected on Monday or Tuesday,” our source said.

The various ministers and public officials who sponsored candidates are expected to be questioned at a later date.

The ICPC also on Tuesday, July 3, sent a letter to PREMIUM TIMES requesting the paper’s cooperation to enable it to conduct a thorough investigation of the matter.

In the letter signed by the Head, Chairman’s Special Unit, Agha-Ibe GO, the agency confirmed it was investigating the scandal and said the action of the officials appeared a violation of some provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.

In its response to the anti-graft agency on July 4, PREMIUM TIMES said it was “committed to working with” the ICPC to ensure the matter was well investigated and persons found culpable prosecuted.

'Fayose Has Promised Students 20 Marks To Vote For PDP' – Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of resorting to panicky measures in their bid to win the governorship election on July 14.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during his maiden news briefing at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, also claimed Fayose has ordered civil servants, teachers and other categories of workers in the state to surrender their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

He also alleged that the Governor has directed lecturers in institutions of higher learning in the state, to award free 20 marks to students who vote for his candidate.

Oshiomhole said: “I believe that the people of Ekiti State are very much aware of what the issues are. There is no better evidence of how prepared we are than the fact that the PDP is panicking.

“You must have read reports that in clear violation of the electoral act, the Governor Fayose has instructed the civil servants, principals of schools and headmasters to retrieve PVCs from civil servants because he is afraid that the civil servants and the people of Ekiti State will not vote for him and in demonstration of that, they are helping to educate the people on why they should not vote for his candidate.

“He has not paid salaries for one year despite the fact that the federal government gave him bailout which he chose to divert to other uses. So, they are panicking and while we are encouraging people to collect PVC, he is retrieving PVCs.

“We heard that they have started issuing query to workers, including teachers for refusing to surrender their PVCs. I don’t think you need any other evidence that the governor is panicking and we can’t wait to have him swept away in a free and fair election on the basis of one man, one vote, one woman, one vote.

“We all know that Fayose was rigged into office and this is no secret because the military officers involved has since confessed to the role they played as well as those involved in the dollars that were withdrawn from the NNPC. These are no secrets anymore.

“I think that Fayose thinks that the very instrument he used to come to power will be used against him. This is a party of change and so, we are not about to copy the darkest side of the PDP.”

R-APC: Why Buhari’s Associates Are Dumping Him – Junaid Mohammed

A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari was losing some of his associates ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

Mohammed described President Buhari as a man who does not maintain friends.

Speaking to reporters on why Buba Galadima, a one time close associate of the President, led the Reformed All Progressives Congress out of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mohammed said Buhari was a man who hated hearing the truth about himself.

The former lawmaker said, “He wants yes men and not those who will tell him home truth, he doesn’t like people like that.

“He wants what he says no matter how nonsensical to be accepted as gospel truth.

“People who had been in politics long before him will not follow him blindly.

“Anybody who has association with him will tell you that the man has nothing to offer and when you are talking about politics and governance, you are talking about what you can offer.

“These people were not around and he didn’t look for them. He doesn’t remember anybody.”

Kemi Adeosun Forged NYSC Certificate - Premium Times
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 07:05 PM - No Replies

@POLITICSNGR

Nigeria's minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun is currently embroiled in a serious certificate scandal. Adeosun is alleged to have forged her National Youth Service Corps Certificate(NYSC).

PoliticsNGR has learned that the Minister did not participate in the mandatory one-year national youth service scheme. Instead, she allegedly forged an exemption certificate many years after graduation.

The year-long service, organised by the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), is compulsory for all Nigerians who graduate from universities or equivalent institutions at less than 30 years of age. In addition to being a requirement for government and private sector jobs in Nigeria, the enabling law prescribes punishment for anyone who absconds from the scheme or forges its certificates.

According to Premium Times, Mrs. Adeosun’s official credentials show that the minister parades a purported NYSC exemption certificate, which was issued in September 2009, granting her exemption from the mandatory service on account of age.

BACKGROUND

Mrs. Adeosun graduated from the Polytechnic of East London in 1989, at the age of 22. According to her curriculum vitae, Mrs Adeosun was born in March 1967.

The institution changed name to University of East London in 1992. Mrs Adeosun has her certificate issued in the new name. Having graduated at 22, it is obligatory for Mrs Adeosun to participate in the one-year national service, for her to qualify for any job in Nigeria.

However, at the time of her graduation, the young Folakemi Oguntomoju, as she then was, did not return to Nigeria to serve her fatherland. Upon graduation in 1989, the Applied Economics graduate pursued fast-paced career in the British public and private sectors.

She first landed a job at British Telecoms but left after a year to join Goodman Jones, an accounting, and investment firm, as audit officer. She served there till 1993. In 1994, Mrs. Adeosun joined London Underground Company as Internal Audit Manager, before switching to Prism Consulting, a finance firm, where she worked between 1996 until 2000.

In 2000, Mrs. Adeosun was hired by PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked for two years. When she eventually returned to Nigeria in 2002, Mrs. Adeosun still did not deem it necessary to participate in the NYSC scheme. She simply accepted a job offer at a private firm, Chapel Hill Denham.

However, ostensibly concerned that she might run into trouble for skipping the mandatory scheme, Mrs. Adeosun, sometime in 2009, procured a fake exemption certificate.

It was further gathered by Premium Times that Mrs. Adeosun’s ‘certificate’ is dated September 9, 2009, and was purportedly signed by Yusuf Bomoi, a former director-general of the corps. Bomoi stepped down from the NYSC in January 2009, and could not have signed any certificate for the corps eight months after. The retired brigadier general passed on in September 2017.

An official of the NYSC also described the certificate as an 'Oluwole Certificate' adding that they "did not issue it and we could not have issued it". Oluwole is a location in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos, where fraudsters possess an amazing dexterity in the act of forging all kinds of documents.

Several current and former officials of the scheme told this paper that the NYSC would never issue an exemption certificate to anyone who graduated before age 30 and did not fall into the categories of persons exempted by the corps’ enabling Act.

Ugandan Young Man Jailed After Professing Love For Female Lawmaker. Photos

A young man obsessed with a female lawmaker has been handed a two year prison sentence for confessing his “love” for her.

The 25-year-old Ugandan student identified as Brian Isiko, a student at YMCA Jinja Branch was convicted on his own plea of guilty to counts of cyber harassment and offensive communication after professing his "love" for Kabalore Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Sylvia Rwabwoogo.

He confessed that the calls and text messages professing obsessed love to the MP he had never physically seen, were from him.

According to reports, the female politician who is single cried as she told court that she started receiving calls admitting love from a stranger.

She said that it all started around November 2017, which made her think that someone was intending to harm her. She thought the calls and text messages were a trap her tormentors had set.

“At the start, I took it for granted thinking that maybe it was just a simple call from one of my constituents. Later, the calls became so frequent with the caller making more weird love confessions. I felt this had gone too far,” she said. “So, I decided to report the incident to Police at Parliament. I blocked his number but the stalker resorted to text messages,” Ms Rwabwoogo testified.

One of his texts that provoked my fears read: “I love you so much and want to protect you. My love is for you alone and since there is no one taking care of you, I will do it. I have realised that you are in deep trouble.”

She testified that when they met, the stalker pulled out his identity card bearing the name of Brian Isiko. Moments later, her guard arrested him.

Ms Kamasanyu handed Isiko two years in prison on the count of cyber harassment and nine months for offensive communication, which sentences will run concurrently.

HERDSMEN KILLINGS: IT SEEMS THE SULTAN OF SOKOTO DOES NOT READ NEWSPAPERS

The state of insecurity in Nigeria has remained an all-time low since 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari  was elected president. The administration whose campaign promises hinged on Security, Economy and Corruption has failed to achieve success on all fronts, especially in Security. The famed “General” status of President Buhari has not performed the magic expected of it. Even though individuals like former President Olusegun Obasanjo asserted that while he is not confident the President had any significant fiscal intelligence but at least vouched for his  capability when it comes to tackling insecurity.

Three years down the line, Obasanjo’s vouchsafe has proven useless. The relatively unknown Fulani Herdsmen have gripped the attention of the country through mindless killings which the federal government through its media propaganda system has renamed “farmers-herders” clashes. The attacks at the initial stage moved from the Middle belt to some Southern states in the country but it was quickly nipped in the bud by proactive Governors and leaders in the region but the same cannot be said of the middle belt where the blood is flowing ceaselessly.

The trio of Benue, Plateau and Taraba has been the worst hit with thousands of individuals sent to their early graves. The last attack in Plateau left over two hundred dead while their land has allegedly been occupied by their attackers.  The president has blamed the attacks on several groups at different times including the Ghaddafi boys but he has finally shifted the blame on politicians while the Sultan of Sokoto through the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has described the attacks as a conspiracy against Buhari.

The Sultan who is the leader of NSCIA has rather chose to be untruthful with words by describing the attacks as a conspiracy against Buhari. In a situation where lives are being lost mindlessly, reducing the deaths of hundreds of innocent people to a conspiracy against the President is an all-time low from the group. The states affected by these killings are states that were won convincingly by President Buhari in the year 2015. Does it implies that Ortom, Lalong and others are killing their people to spite the President? It’s impossible.

The Sultan like other Northern Leaders has not seen the urge to call the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria an unknown group in the country that suddenly assumed prominence with the emergence of President Buhari to order. The group has been at the forefront of making provocative statements after every major attacks by the Herders including inciting ones and none of them have been arrested by the security agencies!

The NSCIA under the Leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto is advised to place the country above self in other to end the unnecessary killings in the country by the Herders.

Ekiti Moves From 1st To 23rd Position As WAEC Releases May/June 2018 Results
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 11:54 AM - No Replies

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has expressed shock over what he called mass failure of the indigenes from the state, in the 2018 May/June West African School Certificate Examination.

Adeyeye blamed it on the “systemic” breakdown of education in the state under Governor Ayodele Fayose.

This was contained in a press release signed by his media aide, Bayo Ojo, on Friday.

“One is shocked with the abysmal mass failure of Ekiti students in the recently released WAEC 2018 results placing the state on number 23 out of 36 states.

“We have earlier cried to the public that the celebrated achievement of coming first in NECO examination was as a result of concerted efforts made by Oni/Fayemi administrations to reposition the education sector.

“It takes time for a seed to germinate and bear fruits.

The results of the giant strides of the two administrations and huge investment in pedagogical and infrastructural facilities was undeservedly appropriated by Fayose as his achievements.

“One wondered then how you could achieve such outstanding result without any investment whatsoever in infrastructural and human capital development. Fayose was claiming that he could reap without sowing. Now the deceit has finally been exposed,” it read.

Kwankwaso, R-APC Speak On Reconciliation With APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 11:51 AM - No Replies

Former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed any form of reconciliation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the party which failed in its campaign promises, including assurance that petrol will sell at N45 per litre, would not fulfil any fresh promise arising from negotiations.

“It’s bit late. The party has had its so called-convention, it has deviated from the original intentions why it was brought to being. So, there is nothing that remains with the mainstream APC”, Kwankwaso’s spokesman, Hajia Binta Spikin told Vanguard.

“I don’t know about the promises Comrade Oshiomhole keep making. He keeps promising he will do this, he would do that, but it’s just promises like the promises the APC gave in the run-up to the 2015 general election.

“Remember APC promised that petrol would be sold at N45 per litre; it has not fulfilled those promises, so what makes this promise different from all the other promises,” he said.

Similarly, National Publicity Secretary of the R-APC, Prince Kassim Afegbua, restated the determination of the group to carry on.

He also insisted that the national convention of the APC was constitutionally flawed.
“That convention has a constitutional flaw, so they are the ones that should be coming to us for peace,” he said.

Unemployment in the country reduced by 1.1 per cent in the first three months of this year, data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics on Friday showed.

According to the statistical bulletin on formal employment and earnings for the first quarter of 2018, the average formal employment increased from 48,192 in the last quarter of 2017 to 48,708 in the first quarter of 2018, while the average earnings also increased by four per cent.

The NBS said when compared with the same quarter in 2017, the formal employment and earnings showed an improvement 5.4 per cent and 7.9 per cent, respectively.

“Increase in employment numbers in the first quarter of 2018 were recorded in the following industries: public administration and defence; compulsory social security; activities of households as employers of domestic personnel; transportation and storage; administrative and support services activities; wholesale and retail trade; and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles,” the bulletin read in part.

Data from the NBS showed that employment in the private, parastatal and government sectors stood at 31,276; 7,420 and 10,012, respectively, while earnings stood at 10,948; 15,310 and 16,941, respectively.

Of the employment numbers, the bulletin stated that “97.5 per cent are local workers, while 2.5 per cent are expatriates.”

It added that decreases were recorded in the activities of extraterritorial organisations and bodies, other service activities, and financial and insurance activities, when compared to the same quarter in the previous year.

The NBS bulletin revealed that average earnings by sector in first quarter of 2018 were highest in the government sector and lowest in the private sector.

According to the NBS, an analysis of earnings by industry shows that among all the industry groups, the average earnings were highest in the financial and insurance activities industry, followed by the information and communications industry.

Melaye To Buhari: If Politicians Are Responsible For Killings, Why Ranching?

Melaye To Buhari: If Politicians Are Responsible For Killings, Why Is Ranching The Solution?

Quote:SENATOR Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West at the upper legislative chamber has hit back at President Muhammadu Buhari over his claims that politicians were responsible for ongoing nationwide killings.

Mr Buhari has on several occasions shifted blames to politicians as motivating the killings for their personal gains.

The president first launched his attacks on politicians when he visited Jos, the Plateau state capital, last week.

His media aide, Garba Shehu had quoted the president in a statement as saying that: “desperate people had pursued their quest for instability and chaos which they hoped would give them an advantage in the coming elections”.

Mr Shehu went on to add that: “We know that a number of geographical and economic factors are contributing to the longstanding herdsmen/farmers clashes. But we also know that politicians are taking advantage of the situation. This is incredibly unfortunate.”

On Thursday, Mr Buhari launched his second attack when he played host to a delegation of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) from the 19 northern states at the presidential villa, Abuja.

While describing those accusing him of incompetence the Nigerian leader said his accusers were evil-minded people.

“When some (people), for clearly political purposes, attempt to suggest that this government is doing nothing about the killings, and that I, being Fulani, must be encouraging these satanic acts, it seems to me that there is no limit to the evil in the minds of these men,” he said.

Besides shifting blames when confronted on his failures on national issues, the Buhari administration has on several occasions suggested that cattle ranching was the solution to farmers and herders clashes across the country.

The suggestion has widely been rejected by various states who insisted that they have no land for cattle ranching.

Earlier in the week, the Presidency had told those against providing land for the proposed ranching that submitting their lands for ranching was better than being killed by killer herdsmen.

“Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter?” Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, queried while speaking on an AIT morning programme in response to a question on people giving out their ancestral attachments.

But reacting, Mr Melaye on Friday threw a question to the president on his claims.

“If PMB said politicians are the cause of the killings. So why is ranching the solution?” he tweeted via his twitter handle.

APC Crisis: Governors, Ministers Plotting More Surprises For Buhari - Galadima
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-07-2018, 11:37 AM - No Replies

Quote:Two days after some aggrieved chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) launched the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), its chairman, Buba Galadima, has declared that the mother of all shocks is underway for the ruling party.

This is as he accused some people around President Muhammadu Buhari of reeking in corruption. He claimed that more surprises will follow in the coming days. In an exclusive chat with Saturday Sun, the Yobe-born politician, who is an old ally of President Buhari, said, governors and some serving ministers who are members of APC, will soon join its fold.

He said that the renouncing of the party by some chieftains in Kwara State will be replicated in several states soon. He however did not state the specific day such will take place.

On Wednesday, at a well-attended press conference in Abuja, leaders of the new breakaway party, said they had the support of all the legacy parties that formed APC even as they refused to rule out that Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as well as other aggrieved members will soon join them. At the press conference, Galadima, said some chieftains of the party were compelled to take the new step because the APC has derailed from its original plans and vision.

Speaking with Saturday Sun, he said: “I can tell you that we have more surprises coming. The shocker is such that it will take APC and its leaders by surprise. This is something I can confirm to you. You remember what the leaders of APC in Kwara State told Saraki to lead them out of the party? That will happen in more states. More states will follow suit and it will be like that going forward.

“Some governors and other top government officials in this government are going to be with us at the right time, they will openly align with us. Just wait and see how things will unfold in the coming days and weeks.”

Also speaking on a morning show on African Independent Television (AIT) yesterday, Galadima said he will disprove those who have dismissed his influence.

He said: “I want to make an observation because people on the other side of the divide said that some of us are inconsequential hired machineries who he will not loose sleep over our actions. I want to state unequivocally for the world to know that there is no man with integrity, character and impeccable honesty from the other side more than me.”

Emphasising his incorruptibility, he said, “For those that know me from 1959 when I started school to date, I have never been found with anything even those that tried to destroy me could not destroy my character and integrity.

“I also want to say that we know all those opportunists who live in opulence and who cannot account for some of the palatial palaces they have built through the wealth of the people. May I also add that those who hired them for a particular purpose will live to regret because they have brought in the scenario of Pharaoh and Moses.”

Back to the crisis rocking APC, he declared that the problem within the “APC did not start from the election tussle of the National Assembly because for me that was democracy in action and once legislators are appointed, they put aside their political differences and work as one unit to produce laws for the good governance of the country and also as an arm of government to provide checks and balances to the excess of the government from whatever party the president comes from.

“The real problem of the APC started because those of us who are founding members of this party, those who made life sacrifice, those of us Nigerians with impeccable patriotism that came together because of the slide then and decided to submerge and subsume our interest to form the APC.

“I should boldly say that I was one of the nine signatories that formed the APC and nobody can delete that history. We never see the faces of all these opportunists I am talking about. They never appended their signatures then yet they are reaping from where they did not sow. “Because they have no history of why the APC was formed, what we suffered and what we did to protect entrenched interest, they started doing things that were not envisaged by the founding fathers of the APC.”

He maintained, “The crisis has been on but it took different dimensions when the tenure of the immediate national officers was expiring. Different interests started resurfacing and through to it, all the ideals for which we formed the APC were thrown to the dustbin. Those of us who are patriotic, who have made sacrifices to bring about the formation of this party cannot sit idly and watch them destroy our sweat. “ He argued that the current crisis is the worst the party has experienced . He said “this is the beginning of what you call crisis. I should say that I am glad that Nigerians of all walks of life have shown solidarity with us.

“And for those who could not lose sleep, I wonder why they went cap in hand, kneeling down before the members of National Assembly. I want to say that as at today, if I give directive to the National Assembly to impeach anybody for constitutional infraction, it could be done because I have that majority in the National Assembly.”

On his problem with President Buhari, he explained “I don’t have any problem with Mr President but I assisted him since 2002. I have made more contributions than even himself in becoming the President of Nigeria. Maybe I should tell the world that because of him, I have suffered intimidation, arrests, questioning about 38 times.

“Not only that, I was detained in an underground prison, chained hands and legs and tried for treason because of him. All these people around now were the people fighting us then. Some of these people were receiving money from the government of the time during elections in conducting fake research and using their positions as members of the trade union to say that the election was conducted fairly but today they are Buhari people. I am shocked.

“There is nothing happening except that I just saw him during a world press conference, an elder statesman and former president said that he does not need my vote, my supporters, my families and those that interact with me. He never mentioned any reason and I dare say that I have more integrity and more honest than any person in this country.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 7TH JULY.

ACCESS TO THE FATHER.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
When you’re born again, you become a
member of God’s great family.

The Apostle Paul made reference to this family in Ephesians 3:14- 15: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” It’s one family in heaven and earth, and you belong there now.

As a member of this family, you’re in a divine community. It’s like being in a secure online community, where members are given passcodes for access. All non-members are restricted, until they register and are given access codes. It’s the same in our community; through the Holy Ghost, we have access to the Father, and all the glories of His presence. The Bible says, “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).

God is always happy with us. The Bible says He rejoices over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). Many don’t really know Him, that’s why they think He’s mad at them for the wrong things they’ve done, and tend to run from Him. But He’s love, and loves you passionately, in spite of your actions. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:19 says, “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God.” Quit begging or acting like a stranger and foreigner; you’re a member of God’s family, and have unrestricted access to Him through Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! O, the glory you’d experience, communicate, and disseminate if this truth dawns on your heart! It’ll beautify your life, and cause you to live closer to your full potential.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m forever grateful for your unconditional love which you’ve lavished on me, and the awesome privilege of being a bona fide member of our great, sublime family. I enjoy the blessings and benefits of my oneness with you, conscious of your glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Ephesians 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

7TH JULY.

I affirm that the Spirit of God is alive in me. He has made me a success and has brought beauty into my life! The eyes of my understanding are enlightened to know God's purpose and His destiny for my life. I am on a mission, I am running swiftly to win the prize of the high calling of God in my life.

I am energized for victory and positioned for the transcendent life by the Spirit of God who lives in me! By Him I labour, striving according to the working of His power that works within me mightily. Hallelujah!

The Spirit of God has made me more than a man and my life is truly supernatural. I can do all things through Christ who enables me to live victoriously every day. I excel in every area of my life because the competence and excellence by which I function are by the Spirit. I do not walk in confusion; for the Spirit of God who lives in me teaches me all things. I have the mind of Christ and I have overcome the systems of this world. Daily, I function from a higher plane of life, thus, I refuse to be bound by the limitations that exist in the world. My life is upward and forward because I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

Richard Akindele: Monica Osagie Sent Nudes To Me, Why I Demanded 5 Rounds Of Sex
User Avatar Forum: Universities

.why I demanded five

VC: Why we didn’t punish student

No comment –Osagie’s lawyer

Quote:By Mojeed Alabi

The Professor of Management Accounting at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Richard Akindele, who was recently dismissed for sexually harassing a postgraduate student of the institution, Ms. Monica Osagie, has said he was only trapped by the student.

In his reply to query issued to him by the university, which was exclusively obtained by New Telegraph, Prof. Akindele explained that the five rounds of sex demand from Monica, as revealed by the leaked audio conversation between them, was a deliberate attempt to discourage the student and at the same time invite her to his office to obtain evidence.

The embattled professor, who also submitted screenshots of earlier WhatsApp conversations including nude pictures allegedly belonging to Ms. Osagie exchanged between them, said the student had, sometimes in November 2017, sexually harassed him in his office by pulling off her dress and revealing her body from chest to toes.

According to the WhatsApp messages presented by the lecturer, which New Telegraph also obtained through a source, Ms. Osagie had allegedly initiated conversation with the lecturer at about 5:52a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, declaring her interest in the lecturer, and sent him seductive messages, including nude photos. Akindele wrote: “I know the lady in the audio recording to be an MBA regular student.

I recall sometimes in November 2017 when she came to my office in company of some of her other MBA students/colleagues to inform me they failed a course that I took with another lecturer and pleaded that they should be upgraded. But I informed them that it was not possible because the result has been submitted and approved by the department.

They left my office, but the lady returned alone to my office some few minutes after they had left begging me to upgrade her to an “A.” She confessed that she did not fail the course, but that she had two other courses in the Department that she failed (not any of which that I am involved) but that she would need an “A” in my own course to boost her CGPA to get to an average of 50 to enable her obtain an MBA Degree. “I promptly turned down her request.

She knelt down and held my legs pretending to be begging me, but was actually romancing me. I shouted at her to stop her madness, but she immediately stood up, raised her gown up to cover her face and I noticed she was not wearing any pant. “I was afraid she could shout to attract other people and it may be difficult for me to defend myself of sexual assault.

So I had to gently tell her to calm down and that we will do it five times on another day and place to which she agreed and gently left my office.

I had to do that to save myself from any possible accusation of sexual assault which may be difficult to prove if she had shouted on that day.

Of course, she attempted calling me at other times and seeing me after that day, but I kept avoiding her. “Since then, she kept sending messages to me regularly describing how good she is in bed and how badly she needs to sleep with me and get an “A” in the course, all of which I resisted.”

Akindele explained that the day the leaked phone call was recorded, he had deliberately played along because on the said day, two unknown vehicles with unidentified men and a lady suspected to be Ms. Osagie had trailed him from OAU campus to Moro Campus, where the MBA programme was being run.

He said: “On that fateful morning, I left my office on campus for Centre for Distance Learning (CDL), Moro to go for the MBA lecture. As I was driving out of the university, I noticed two vehicles following…
I was somehow scared and wondered what the occupants in the cars were up to. While still wondering, my phone rang and it was the lady in question calling, but I did not pick.

When the phone rang the third time, I picked and sensing danger with cars behind me, I decided to play along with her request, and that was what led me to demand five times of sex and for her to come to my office.

“I have evidence and proof that she Unclad herself and harassed me sexually and I have a Unclad picture she sent to my WhatsApp contact, pressing that she wanted to have sexual intercourse with me.
I have known this lady to be a bad behaved lady and as if she is a psychotic person….” Akindele said if truly he had wanted to sleep with the student, he would not have demanded five times of sex rounds at a go, saying dating a girl would not ordinarily begin with the request for five times.

The dismissed professor said it was only unfortunate that the girl was faster in implicating him. In the screenshots of WhatsApp messages of February 25 allegedly exchanged between Prof. Akindele and Ms. Osagie, which was exclusively obtained by New Telegraph, the conversations went follows:

Ms. Osagie: So ure awake by dis tym. Dis will b a good time to giv u a Mouth Gig

Akindele: Yes. Meaning?

Ms. Osagie: Suck ur rooster.

Akindele: Haa

Ms. Osagie: Stop saying haa. So wen u are wit a woman u just climb on her nd finish?

Akindele: Huuuu

Ms. Osagie: Just saying. Maybe we can try d 69 position 1 day.

Akindele: Meaning

Ms. Osagie: Dis one is ur assignment google and find out wat it means.

Then Prof. Akindele sent two pictures wishing her happy Sunday and saying good morning. But enraged by these messages from the lecturer, the student replied as follows:

Ms. Osagie: Are u kiddin me.
I thought u were goin 2 send me pictures of a man suckin a girl’s pussy while she sucks the man’s dick.

Akindele: Ok.

Ms. Osagie: No, it is not okk, let me send u mine but you won’t show anybody ooo

Akindele: Ok.

Ms. Osagie: Promise?

Akindele: Yes. Following this pledge, Monica sent in pictures of her private parts and was followed by other conversations.

But Monica has refused to comment on the matter, querying reasons behind the introduction of the evidences at this stage.

Speaking through her counsel and the Executive Director, Women Advocates, Research and Documentation (WARDC), Dr. Abiola Akiode-Afolabi, Osagie accused the media of attempting to wage a media war against her, saying she had been traumatised enough to warrant another round of public disgrace. According to Akiode- Afolabi, the university has exonerated Osagie after reviewing all evidences tendered before it, and so would not tolerate any fresh facts, which she described as an afterthought.

She said: “Which fresh facts again? Did you see the school’s conclusion? Because the school came to the conclusion that she did not harass the man. Where did you now get your own facts? I hope it is not that the media want to feed fat on this story.

“But if you have facts, disclose now but we won’t hesitate to go to court o. This is because the girl has been embarrassed a lot and so if you people bring it up again and embarrass her, we would not take it lightly. She cannot comment on this matter any longer because the case is even before the court. So she cannot start denying anything. If you guys have anything, bring it out.

“The school did a fact-finding of three levels and came to the conclusion that she didn’t harass anybody. “I am aware of all these messages you are saying, but please check your facts very well and look at the time you want to be bringing them out.

So I am not going to speak to you on this, if you have your facts, bring them out and we will reply at the appropriate time. If we need to go to court, we will go to court.” Meanwhile, efforts to speak to Osagie herself proved abortive as her line has remained permanently switched off.

But in his response to enquiries from New Telegraph, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, confirmed that the institutions received the seductive messages by Ms. Osagie to Prof. Akindele as part of the lecturer’s responses to his query, but that they were not sufficient enough to exonerate him.

According to Ogunbodede, the evidences showed that the two were found culpable, but that in the circumstance, there was a weaker partner and a stronger partner. He said: “Prof. Akindele provided information that Ms. Osagie sent him nude pictures, but the panel did not consider that as sufficient justification for his actions and inaction.”

The OAU VC added that all laid down procedures were followed before reaching the conclusion. Asked why the university maintained silence on the allegation against the student, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the panel had also considered punishing Ms. Osagie, but found out that she was no longer the university’s student because she had overstayed on her MBA programme and so had lost her studentship.

The VC said: “Let me tell you that the university was not silent on the lady. If you read the press release, you would see that we really mentioned something relating to her in the report, but lecturers are supposed to act ‘in loco parentis’ for students.

Even though Prof. Akindele provided the nude pictures, the right thing for him to do would have been to report her to appropriate authorities. And even as a stronger partner, Prof. Akindele had every right to discipline the student.

“And honestly, if our student had also been found culpable, the ideal thing would be to discipline the student. But in this case, this lady is no longer with us. The lady came for a programme, but she did not complete her programme within the stipulated time, and so she is not a registered student of our school. As at the time the issue came up, she was trying to resolve her failed courses, but could no longer come in to register. So the situation would have been different if she was our student.

But in this case, the lady is not entitled to our certificate.” Meanwhile, New Telegraph has learnt that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has intervened on the matter. Both Professor Akindele and Osagie had been invited by the ICPC. The anti-graft agency has conducted forensic audit on all evidences tendered by the two parties.

Man Set Himself On Fire In Lagos, Says Hardship In Nigeria Too Much (Graphic)

Quote:[Image: DhR7HJNX0AEMx9--245x300.jpg]

A man believed to be in his early 20s Wednesday afternoon, set himself ablaze in the Omole Phase 1 area of Ojodu, Lagos.

The man, whose identity has not be confirmed, was said to had armed himself with a gallon of petrol and lighter and started narrating how Nigerians were going through hardship.

A witness, Ben Chinedu, told Daily Sun that: “I was Gate when I saw a crowd and I stopped to make enquiries. I saw a young man in his 20s; he was armed with a gallon of fuel.

He was shouting on top of his voice saying that he was tired of life. He narrated how he had been running from one person to other for assistance and everyone was saying things were difficult. He told people who cared to listen that the country was under a spell that cannot be cleansed.

“He said there was no hope and future for the youth, he could no longer bear the ‘suffering-and-smiling’ syndrome and pretence showed by most people. He threatened to kill himself, but people thought he was making empty threats.

He poured the liquid on his body and brought out a lighter. He ignited fire on his body and he was burning. We started pouring water on him, but the fire had done enough damage before we put it out. We called the police who came to the scene and picked the man who was unconscious by then. We don’t know the man and where he came from.”

Police public relations officer, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the story, said the man was being treated at the Lagos State Emergency Centre, 7-Up area.

Oti said: “Divisional Police Officer, Ojodu, received a distress call that a man set himself ablaze and raced to the scene with some officers. When the police arrived, they put out the fire and rushed the man to the Lagos State Emergency Centre, where he is being treated.

The man is still unconscious as he received third-degree burns. He is still unconscious as I am talking to you, but the Commissioner of Police has directed the DPO in charge of Ojodu to take the man who attempted suicide to the hospital.

“it is a suicide attempt as people saw him set himself ablaze. It was not the usual jungle justice by a mob.

“He was the person who planned how to kill himself. The CP has ordered the DPO to investigate and find out who the man is and why he decided to take his life in a most agonising manner. We also call on members of the public who are looking for their missing relations to contact the Ojodu Police Station of the PPRO’s office to ascertain who the man is.”

Paul Enenche Slams Femi Adesina Over ‘Land For Life Comment’
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Center (DIGC) has blasted the Federal government for asking Nigerians to donate land for ranching to prevent deaths.

WW.IDOMAVOICE.COM observed that Dr. Enenche was reacting to a statement recently credited to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina that “You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter.”

Responding to the statement, Enenche described Adesina’s comment as symptoms of primitivity of mentality, primordial sensibility, retrogressive discretion, bankruptcy of ideology and cerebral sclerosis

According to him, “It is an insult on our collective sensibility for anyone to suggest that the killing of innocent Nigerians is justifiable if cattle colony is not accepted.

“What a senseless, useless, worthless suggestion! Such quality of suggestions are only symptoms of primitivity of mentality, primordial sensibility, retrogressive discretion, bankruptcy of ideology and cerebral sclerosis.

The General Overseer went further adding that “It is therapeutic failure at the highest level for when drugs expire; they can neither remedy nor be remedied.

God is on the throne and it shall not happen.” he added.

“Your Land Or Your Life,This Is worse Than Animal Farm” – Bishop Oyedepo Splits Fire

Dr David Oyedepo has continued to lend his voice to the crisis between the farmers, locals and herdsmen in Nigeria leading to several deaths.

Responding last night to a recent statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina that “You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter?”

Bishop Oyedepo wrote:
“I heard they said you should choose between your life and your land.
If they take your land and rename it, won’t you prefer to be dead than to be alive?
The place of my father’s sepulchre? If you come there, we will show you strength.
What nonsense?
This is becoming worse than Animal Farm!
You know Animal Farm? George Orwell. I’ve never seen this kind of kangaroo nonsense.
Death is not a problem.
Who do you want to harass?
Even when I was a boy, you couldn’t say that.
They say my name is on their list. Who do you think you can harass by that?
Nonsense!
Their names are also on my list.
Their names are in ‘red’.
You know what that means?
Rest In Peace.
They will rest in crisis!
Every plan of the devil against you will walk on their own head.

It is better to lose your land than lose your life?”

You better stop that folly’ the Bishop concluded. The cleric also laid curses again on those threatening the lives of innocent Nigerians .

Some senators have provided insights into why the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has remained exceptionally generous in funnelling billions of naira to federal lawmakers, sometimes even against the wishes of her bosses at the presidency.

PREMIUM TIMES had in a series of reports revealed how the minister repeatedly enriched lawmakers , including by funding unapproved projects and making unappropriated cash payments to the legislative arm of government.

In April, this newspaper reported details of the controversial release of N10 billion to the National Assembly by Mrs Adeosun.
The lawmaking arm then wasted the money on exotic cars and dubious contracts.

Some of the companies to which the contracts were awarded were not even registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Bureau of Public Procurement.

In June, this newspaper reported how the minister spent about N12 billion to finance projects the presidency wanted removed from the 2017 budget.

The minister’s action generated uproar nationwide, especially among civil society activists who wondered the motive of such curious financial relationship with federal lawmakers reputed for being self-centred, greedy and corrupt.

Two months of asking questions is beginning to provide some insights into the real reason the minister has maintained such cosy relationship with the lawmakers.

At least five senators who spoke to this newspaper said the abnormal actions of the minister were activated by the top echelon of the legislature.

“We have never had a finance minister so generous to the National Assembly,” one senator said. “But it is not for nothing. The truth is we were able to dig up something unsavoury about her and our leaders are holding her by the jugular.”

One ranking senator simply said, “The minister is being gagged by our people”.
He however said he was not sure what his colleagues were using to “gag” the minister.

Yet another senator said, “What I am aware of is some of our people said they have an ammunition they can use to silence her.

That has given way for the leadership (of the National Assembly) to intimidate her, knowing that they could get her out of her job if she doesn’t cooperate.”

Another ranking senator, who also asked not to be named, said Mrs Adeosun was indeed being blackmailed by lawmakers.

“Not everything is out in the public because every single one of us are beneficiaries of this situation,” he said. “But I can tell you the woman is being harassed and blackmailed into doing many things she would ordinarily not so. She is helpless in the hands of our people.”

The minister is said to be afraid of being exposed or investigated by the legislative body, which may lead to her losing her position.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the real “ammunition” is known only by a few high profile leaders of the National Assembly who have turned it into what an official called “a secret tool for extortion.”

But when contacted, the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the finance minister was not being blackmailed in any way.

“There is nothing like that and I am very sure of that,” Yusuph Olaniyonu, the spokesperson to Mr. Saraki, told PREMIUM TIMES. “If there is anything like that I would know. Oga will hint or she will tell me. There is absolutely nothing like that. It is not true.”

Mr. Olaniyonu described Mrs Adeosun as the “most cooperating minister” who answers lawmakers’ summons at all times. But he insisted that her conduct was not because of fear of any blackmail.

The spokesperson to the finance minister, Oluyinka Akintunde, also denied his boss was being blackmailed by lawmakers.

“I wish to state that there is no such thing,” Mr. Akintunde said. “The Honourable Minister has always operated within the ambit of the law in the discharge of her responsibilities.”

This newspaper is however working hard to uncover what the real “ammunition” being used against the minister is, and will provide updates as information becomes available.

60-year-old father remanded for turning his 12-year-old daughter into his sex slave in Lagos

An Ikeja Magistrates’ court on Thursday remanded one Amusat Ashiru, a 60-year-old bus driver who allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter in Lagos.

Ashiru, who resides at Orisunbare, Shasha, allegedly turned his daughter into a sex machine after she moved in with him 3 months ago following his divorce from her mother.

The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who refused to take the plea of the accused, said he should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Daily Post reports.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that, the accused committed the offence sometime in May at his residence and the sexual abuse happened multiple times.

“The girl, who has been staying with his uncle since her parents separated, decided to live with her father.

“She moved into her father’s house three months ago and since that day, her father had turned her into a sex machine,’’ Ayorinde is quoted as saying.

Ayorinde said the girl could no longer tolerate her father’s constant sexual demands so she ran away from home and was begging people to house her in their homes.

“A good Samaritan, who met her on the road begging for where to sleep, interrogated her and she told her what her father has been doing to her.

“The woman reported the case to the police and the accused was arrested,” the prosecutor said.

The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 6 for mention.

[Image: U4f6VMMiDpiYPbtq8WEhsane2.png]Caught in the act

A pastor called Justus Mukutu, a resident of Kitutu Chache South constituency is in trouble after being caught red-handed, having sex with Kerubo, his friend’s daughter.

Justus, a man of God and a mentor to many youths in his area has been a friend to Kennedy, the lady’s father for a long time. As a result of their friendship, Kennedy asked him to stay in his house for a while with Kerubo to mentor her and teach her good morals. Kennedy was to be away for 10 days.

Kennedy came back before the 10th day and decided to pay a visit to his friend but to his utter dismay, he found his ‘best friend’ ‘banging’ his daughter. Kennedy exclaimed, “What! Is this a dream or reality?

He couldn’t hold it and shouted, attracting the attention of his neighbors. Within 10 minutes, a large crowd gathered at Justus’ home to witness what the person they had so much confidence in had done. Everyone was shell shocked.

Well, well, well, we must be cautious of the amount of trust we put in our fellow humans.

Namibian national carrier, Air Namibia, recently marked its inaugural entry to Nigeria with flight from Windhoek, capital of the southern African nation, to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The airline which started with four times a week flights said successful opening of the Lagos route was the actualisation of long term plan to connect many countries in West Africa to southern Africa and other parts of the continent.

Welcoming the airline to Lagos, the High Commissioner of Namibia to Nigeria, Dr. Peingeondjabi Titus Shipoh, expressed excitement to see the country’s national airline berth in Lagos.

“It is an honour to welcome you to the inaugural flight of Air Namibia to Lagos from Windhoek City in Namibia,” he said.

Shipoh, said Nigeria and Namibia share a long history of solidarity and cooperation, dating back to the years of struggle for the decolonisation of Southern Africa, disclosing that Nigeria played a strong pivotal role in campaigning for Namibia’s decolonisation.
“Today the political struggle is on and we continue to enjoy peace and stability; however, the fight for economic emancipation of Africa remains to be won. Africa is now the new economic frontier. Africa needs to deepen intra-Africa trade to facilitate integration and derive tangible benefits from globalization,” he said.

The envoy said the role of transport and logistics sector has become extremely important for the African continent.

“I am applauding Air Namibia for taking advantage of the opening of African skies. This is an opening of new and more dynamic chapter in furthering and consolidating relationship between Nigeria and Namibia.

“This route will enable cooperation in all sectors; facilitate entry of Namibian investors to this strategic market. Air Namibia’s venture into the ECOWAS market is to establish a win-win cooperation to exploit available business opportunities, add value to the natural resources that both our countries are endowed with,” Shipoh said.

The General Manager, APG, the General Sales Agent (GSA) of Air Namibia, Chike Ohiagu said there has been positive response to the flight of the airline to Nigeria with huge requests for Air Namibia’ flight tickets.

“On behalf of APG Nigeria, GSA to Air Namibia we want to thank everyone that graced this occasion. There is deluge of requests. It is a good sign that Air Namibia has come here to stay.

“Our duty is to sell tickets and make money for Air Namibia. In the next two weeks, there would be a forum where travel agents will be invited and we talk about Air Namibia and the product we have and the projections for the next few years,” Ohiagu said.
The Nigerian High Commission in the Republic of Namibia who was represented by Uwem Johnson said that there is huge potential market for the airline in Nigeria and expressed the hope that in few months the airline would have daily flight from Windhoek to Lagos.
Spokesman of Air Namibia, Paul Nakawa who represented the management of the airline said it was a dream come true that Air Namibia now operates to Lagos.

“We are happy to come to Nigeria. We are here to stay. Namibia is open to Nigeria and we have a lot of things to offer. The first departure of Air Namibia to Accra from Lagos Nigeria on the 29 of June, 2018 is a special occasion and calls for celebration. This is a major milestone for our airline as we journey forward.

“The creation of Air Namibia has gone a long way in connecting Southern Africa and West Africa. This comes as another option, given the fact that there are other players already in the market. Our objective is to create inter African trade and integration. We launched five routes in a space of three years,” Nakawa said.

Why I Will Not Welcome Buhari To Ekiti, By Fayose
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-06-2018, 09:53 AM - No Replies

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has disclosed that he will not welcome President Muhammadu Buhari and his entourage to Ekiti on June 10, as requested in a letter to him.

He explained that the Federal Government under Buhari did not deem it fit to construct even a 100-meter road in the state since they came into office.

Fayose made the disclosure yesterday at a rally in Ado-Ekiti,

The governor expressed optimism that the party’s candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, would be the governor-elect on July 14, adding that the president and his entourage would be disgraced in the state.

He said: “I am not going to receive the president. If they think that they can use the police to intimidate us, it is a lie.

This government is undemocratic, why did they close Akure Airport yesterday, when they knew that we would be receiving our party members.

“They have been arresting members of the PDP, but we will not be provoked. We will disgrace all of them on June 14.

If you vote for the APC, you are voting for Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen. But PDP believes in the sanctity of human lives.”

He said he was aware of plans by the INEC to rig the poll, adding that they will follow them anywhere they go, even as: “we are not interested in violence.

“When I saw the President of France, Emmanuel Macron and Nigeria President, I was ashamed. This country does not deserve an old man, we deserve the younger generations,” he said.

Party leaders at the rally said: “PDP has been rebranded and repositioned to gain the lost grounds. We will rescue Nigeria from all sorts of inhuman treatment meted out by the APC.

Morning Devotional For Friday 6th July
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 6TH JULY.

CUSTODIANS OF HIS TRUTH.

Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in (Isaiah 26:2).

In the verse above, the prophet Isaiah wasn’t referring to countries like the United States Of America, South Africa or England, but to the Church of Jesus Christ; we’re the custodians of the truth. The Church is the pillar and ground of the truth: “…the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). We’re the ones that keep His Word, and His gates are open to us.

But there’s more; read what happens in the very next verse: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3). The Hebrew words translated perfect peace are “shalom shalom,” meaning “peace peace”; but this construction really means peace with rest; peace with prosperity, health, strength and salvation! Thus, the righteous one, whose mind is stayed on the Lord, is kept in perfect prosperity, health, rest and strength.

This further shows that your mind is where God wants to work. If He can get a hold of your mind through His Word, you can become as healthy, prosperous and successful as you ever want to be. Train your mind to stay on the truth of God’s Word always. Trouble, darkness, temptations and challenges may come, but you’ll always be victorious; His truth will put you over, and the Word of God is truth.

Being custodians of His truth means we’re doers of the Word; we’re Word practitioners; we live in, by, and through the Word. And that’s where the blessing is: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only…For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:22-25).

PRAYER

I’m so glad that I belong to the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. Nothing takes my focus off the Lord and His eternal Word, for in Him lies my strength, peace, victory, and everlasting success. I’m guided by God’s wisdom to walk in, and fulfill His destiny for me today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Exclamation Dangers of masturbation
User Avatar Forum: Romance
Posted by: Myykel - 07-06-2018, 09:00 AM - No Replies

Masturbation plays a big role in a normal sex life. Some of us discover it as children because it starts to feel so good between our legs. Others are shown by our friends.

We continue to masturbate because it feels so good. It gets us ready for mature sexual relationships when we reach adulthood, and it helps us take care of those raging hormonal urges and surges when we are teenagers. Masturbation can enhance mature sexual relationships where two partners use it either as a prelude to other sexual activity, or as the main fare. And it keeps us going when relationships falter, such as when a partner is ill or away. It is a great equalizer in a relationship where one partner needs more sexual activity than the other.

Masturbation is a healthy sexual behavior. Like other behaviors, when over practiced or addicted it can lead to both psychological and physiological imbalances.

The side effects of such changes to the body include:

Over-masturbation can pose serious threat to sexual and over all health, curing these effects with herbal supplements is safe as herbs do not have side effects and are quick to alleviate the problem. Masturbation has been a way of satisfying sexual desires for both males and females since a long time, it is estimated that 94% of males and 64% of females practice masturbation. To an extent it is treated as harmless and even good for health but when the frequency of masturbation goes beyond the tolerance limit of body organs then its effects are dangerous if left untreated.

This situation can promote problems like low libido, ED and lack of orgasm. Other then these problems people in the habit of over masturbation may face the problems like prostatitis, weak parasympathetic nerve, distressed liver, semen leakage, premature ejaculation, sexual exhaustion, impotence and low sperm count.

How much is too much masturbation?

That depends but it's suggested men keep their ejaculation frequency down to 2-3 times a week. However, sexual activity can be experienced more often if men learn how to orgasm without ejaculation. Doing so can actually store bioenergy into your system and make your penis firmer, your erections last longer, and your ejaculate volume bigger.

Masturbation is a part of life and our sexual practices. In fact, most doctors recommend it, not only to improve sexual experiences but to also promote good general health. However, like most things in life, too much of a good thing can be bad. Excessive masturbation can lead to symptoms like stress, fatigue, and memory loss. In extreme cases, sufferers fall into the pitfalls of impotence and hair loss.

The Ogun State Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service has said it has generated a revenue of N2.6bn between January and June 2018.

The Controller of the command, Michael Agbara, stated this on Wednesday at its Idiroko border office.

He told newsmen that the command’s anti- smuggling strategy was quite effective, as its operatives also seized 215 units of smuggled vehicles popularly known as ‘Tokunbo’being ferried through illegal routes into the country.
[Image: 7368037_revenue2_jpeg_jpegea8723c094cf4f...b665519c0c]
“In the last six months, other seizures according to Agbara include a total of 15,976 bags of foreign rice 50Kg each, 1,148 kegs of vegetable oil, 24 motorcycles, 161 compressed packs of Indian hemp among others”.

Agbara, also reviewing the activities of the command within the last one month, said it generated N393.5m, seized 37 smuggled vehilces and 3,000 bags of foreign rice among others.

He disclosed that concerning the rice seizure, a particular truck intercepted around Mowe-Ibafo axis conveyed 600 bags packaged in branded bags of a local producer of rice, in order to beat the Customs’ operatives.
[Image: 7368038_revenue3_jpeg_jpeg66538ae56a5b82...cd8ae2720b]
He said, “Ninety-nine out of these 600 bags were the local brand of the rice producer while 501 bags were smuggled foreign parboiled rice re-bagged in the bags of the local producer.

“They did this just to beat our operatives but our operatives were vigilant and were able to detect this.”

He also said one drone camera, 244 kegs of vegetable oil, 208 pairs of used shoes, 4,220 cartons of tomato paste, and 115 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit(petrol) among others.

“Interestingly, we seized a drone at our parcel post when people think they can use it. If you want to buy drone and you bought it make sure you get an end user certificate, in this case there is nothing like that. Since a month ago, we gave the person that bought it a chance to bring the end user certificate, but since he’s yet to come I dont have any other choice than to seize it, that is the directive from the government.

“Equally, I want to inform you that all these efforts are achieved through hardworking of my officers who are on patrol day and night”, Agbara said.

The controller said the smugglers usually smuggled the PMS through the creeks.

Agbara warned smugglers to desist from the illegal venture, adding that the command would continue “to go after them whether in the creeks, bush or on the road. ”

He, however, said three suspects had been arrested concerning some of the seizures.

Pregnant Lady And Her Lover Burnt To Death In Lagos (photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-06-2018, 03:35 AM - No Replies

A bizarre incident which left residents stunned occurred two weeks ago at Ojodu Street, in the densely populated Ajegunle area of Lagos, after a man, Buraimo Sunday, 30, and his pregnant lover identified simply as Bose, were burnt to death in his apartment.

The live-in lovers said to have been dating for five years, were reportedly planning to solidify their relationship early next year, when the unexpected happened.

The lovebirds were inside their apartment, watching a movie on the television penultimate evening, when a boy reportedly kicked a jerrican half filled with fuel, in the veranda.

The combustive substance spilled on a cooking gas belonging to one of the tenants that was lighted, thereby resulting in an inferno. The fire, according to a tenant, caught the curtains of owner of the gas cooker, spreading to the ceiling, with everyone scurrying out of their apartments for safety.

Crime Alert learned that by the time the lovebirds were alerted, the fire had engulfed the entire passage, with thick smoke billowing.

A resident, who gave his name simply as Simeon, explained that “Sunday made every effort to open the door but its handle was stiff. He went to the burglary proof of the window, shook it vigorously, in an attempt to pull it off, yet it did not give way. We were screaming and encouraging him to pull harder, as we watched them from the window. Two men, who tried to break the burglary proof of the window from outside later, retreated when it became too hot to hold. Even in the face of death, Sunday was begging us to try and save Bose. At a point, Bose began to cough. Sunday held her and bade us good bye, as the fire engulfed them.”

The charred remains of Sunday and Bose were buried next day at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, with residents wailing and giving different accounts as to how tragedy befell the duo.

Some of the tenants who were rendered homeless by the fire lamented their loss but were quick to appreciate God for not losing their lives.

One of them, Johnson, said, “Sunday and Bose could have survived had the door opened when he tried to escape through it. When I heard the explosion, I thought it was from his air conditioner. It was the Divisional Police Officer at Tolu Police Station, CSP Udom, that led a team of policemen to the scene from where he called fire fighters. But by the time they arrived, it was too late.”

Late Sunday’s immediate younger brother, Alfred, explained that the deceased visited his barbing salon same day to have his hair cut.

He said: “He even promised to buy a power generating set for me next day, when I told him the one I was using was borrowed. He did not live to fulfil his promise, no thanks to the fire incident.”

Continuing, the Edo state-born sibling revealed that “as it is now, I am the only surviving child of our parents. Our father died long ago, while our mother travelled to the United States of America 19 years ago. I take solace in my late brother and looked up to him as father. Today, I am fatherless with no brother.”

As if losing a brother was not enough psychological and emotional trauma for Alfred, he revealed that the family of his late brother’s lover were demanding for a proper burial rites for her.

He said: “How can I do such a burial? My brother did not marry her and had no child with her. Besides, they were not married. They met each other back in school and had been living together until tragedy occurred”.

Yoruba actress and film maker, Yetunde Akilapa, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with break-in and stealing valuables worth N7 million.

The actress, 32, who lives at No.7, Oladelola St., Ketu area of Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing to which she pleaded not guilty, NAN reports.

Police Prosecutor Benson Emuerhi told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 27 at No. 14/16, Mutairu St., Shangisha, Ketu, a suburb of Lagos, at 2.10 p.m.

According to him, the accused was apprehended while trying to enter the apartment of the complainant, Adeboye Lamidi.

Mr Lamidi alleged that he was in his sitting room when he noticed someone was trying to open the door to his apartment with a key from outside.

Ms Akilapa used a different key to unlock the door of the complainant house but was caught in the act, he said.

“l peeped through the door hole and l saw the accused trying to open my door with a key.”

The prosecutor also alleged that the accused on November 16, 2015 at 3.00 p.m. broke into the residence of Oyinlola Tuga by unlocking the door with a master key.

Tuga, who lives at No. 39A, Ayodele Okeowo St., Gbagada Soluyi in Lagos, reported that the accused stole jewellery, bags and other valuables worth N7 million.

“Tuga alleged that after raising alarm that his house had been burgled, his neighbours told him that they saw the accused parked her car with registration no. MUS 689 CZ in front of the complainant’s house.

“They challenged her and found the stolen items and a hundred bunch of keys on her.

“The accused was apprehended and handed over to the police at Ifako Police Station,” he said.

Ms Akilapa came into the film industry in 2013 and acted in a Yoruba film, “ Ileri-Oluwa’’, which brought her to limelight.

The actress was earlier reported to be in the news for stealing and breaking into people’s homes years ago and has been on the police wanted list for the past three years.

The actress was in the news in February 2013 when it was reported that she was arrested for robbery by the police in Alade, Somolu area of Lagos.

She was sent to the Kirikiri Prison and after a few months, she regained her freedom in November 2013.

On January 12, 2014, she was again caught trying to steal with a bunch of master keys hidden in her brassiere at a house in Magodo Phase 2.

The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing, while Section 307 prescribes seven years for burglary.

The Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.

Mrs Sule-Amzat said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until October 22.

Sierra Leone Nurse Jailed For 15 Years For Raping Patient In A London Hospital

Posted by: Edoman - 07-06-2018, 03:22 AM - No Replies

An African nurse has been jailed for 15 years following his conviction for rape in London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the Sierra Leone man named Mohamed Kamara, 47, of Fleming Way, SE28 was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on Thursday, 5 July. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period and will be made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Kamara had been convicted at the same court on Thursday, 3 May.

The court heard that the victim was being treated at an east London hospital where Kamara worked as a nurse.

On 15 May 2017, he raped her before threatening her in an attempt to prevent her contacting police.

The woman told her daughter what had happened and she reported it to police.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command launched an investigation and Kamara was arrested.

Detective Constable Elli Amson, said: "Kamara deliberately preyed on a very vulnerable woman. He targeted her whilst employed in the capacity as a registered mental health nurse and this is a clear breach of trust and abuse of his position.

"I would like recognition to be given to the victim who, in such awful circumstances, found the strength to disclose this traumatic event to her daughter and come forward, despite still remaining in the hospital where the offence took place. Her bravery is truly commendable.

"If anyone has any further information regarding this male please contact the Metropolitan Police."

Bauchi Secondary School Closed After Students Held Wedding Among Themselves
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-05-2018, 09:51 PM - No Replies

Quote:THE Bauchi State government, at the weekend, closed the Sa’adu Zungur Model Primary and Secondary School in Bauchi, the state capital, over illegal marriages among senior students in the school.

The closure order, which also affected the primary section of the school, it was gathered, was given on Friday by the state deputy governor, Nuhu Gidado, who doubles as the Commissioner for Education, following a report received by the government on the illegal marriages among the students.

According to a press statement issued by his Special Assistant on Communications, Yakubu Adamu, the deputy governor attributed the illegal marriages among the students to moral decadence in the society.

Gidado stated the school would remain closed until a committee set up by the state government to investigate the matter came up with a detailed report and recommendations.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the illegal act among the students, said to have been rampant among them despite the fact that both male and female students had separate classrooms for learning, blew open last week during one of such illegal marriages.

It was further learnt that teachers in the school got to know about the act when a senior secondary (SS) 2 student organised one of such wedding ceremonies in the school premises to his alleged lover, also a senior student of the school.

The noise and cheers from jubilant co-students amidst the fun were said to have drawn the attention of the teachers, who rushed to find out what was happening only to discover that a ‘wedding’ ceremony was taking place between the two students.

They, however, reported their finding to the school’s principal, Mallam Ahmed Zailani, who in turn reported to the Ministry of Education with a view to taking appropriate sanction against the erring students.

Investigation revealed that male students used to pay N500 as bride price to their would-be ‘wife’ who are also students of the school as a condition for solemnisation of their marriages.

It further revealed that the ‘couples’ classmates also contributed money to buy snacks to eat during such ‘wedding’ ceremonies.

I Caught My Husband Sucking My Niece’s Breast, Sleeping With Our Maid -wife
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-05-2018, 09:49 PM - No Replies

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the 10-year marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and her husband, Stanley Anyasi over infidelity.

The 36-year-old trader told the court that apart from numerous cases of his following women around, her husband used to sneak into their maid’s room to sleep with her.

“My husband is a womaniser, he used to leave me in the bed at night and sneak into my maid’s room. I have caught him severally on my maid’s bed sexually assaulting her.

“A neighbour approached me and told me to warn my husband to desist from asking her daughter to have love affairs with him.

“I once caught him sucking the breasts of my niece, who is a minor and he is also fond of wooing my friends,” she said,

The petitioner told the court that her husband had once tried to poison her when he brought food to her which subsequently caused her serious pain and vomiting.

“I was rushed to the hospital by neighbours, when I was diagnosed, it was detected that the food I just ate had been poisoned,” she said.

The mother of three said that her husband equally turned her into a punching bag, beating her at the slightest provocation, and has been calling her thief and prostitute in public.

The estranged woman stressed that her husband was irresponsible and unable to provide food or pay for the education of their children.

She urged the court to dissolve her marriage with Stanley.

The respondent, however, denied all the allegations and in turn accused his wife of adultery, claiming that her lover even bought a car for her.

“In January 2017 she came home with a car of N1 million, when I queried her where she got the car from, she claimed she bought it with her money.

“I strongly disagreed with her because she is only selling foodstuffs and can never afford that kind of a car,” he said.

The 40-year-old businessman said that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home in 2017 without his knowledge.

“I came home from work and discovered that my wife had packed all her belonging out with the children to start living with her lover.

“I called her severally, she refused to pick but she eventually picked my call last January and informed me that our last baby she delivered in May 2017 was not mine that the child belonged to the man she is presently living with.

“Before she even gave birth and packed out of my house, I always received information from people that they saw my wife in hotel with men but I always ignored them.”

NAN reports that on the allegation of turning her to a punching bag, Stanley said that he only beat her once when she stabbed him with bottle on his head.

The respondent urged the court to grant his wife’s wish for the dissolution of marriage saying that he too was no longer interested.

Delivering the judgement, the court president, Mr Akin Akinniyi, said that all efforts to reconcile the couple had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and Mr Stanley Anyasi dissolved today.

“Both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife, each of you should go on his or her separate ways unmolested.

“The court wishes both of you well in your new journey of life.

“The court grants the custody of the children, age 10, 8, 6 respectively to their mother, the petitioner, pending when they attain the age of 18 years to decide who to stay with.

“The respondent must be responsible for the children’s school fees, medical bills and must be paying N15,000 monthly for the children’s feeding which must be channeled through the court,” Akinniyi ruled

Chrissy Teigen Hilariously Baits Mom-Shamers With Family Photo
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 05:23 PM - No Replies

It was only a little over a month ago that Chrissy Teigen shared her first photo of baby Miles, her second child with husband John Legend.
Now she shared a group photo featuring both of her kids, but she confessed that it took time, effort, and a lot of takes to get such a good pic.

Chrissy knew that mom-shamers would be coming for her no matter what she did, but she is always ready for them.

Bracing herself to incur the wrath of mom-shamers, Chrissy shjared this beautiful maternal photo.

In the captions, she revealed just how difficult it was to pull off.

"Should I post the one where his head looks unsupported but my face looks good and Luna is over it," Chrissy asks in the comments.

It is clear that she and John snapped several photos before selecting this one as the best of the bunch.

Chrissy then asks if she should have shared "the one where his head is supported but my face is just okay and Luna is over it."

You have to pick and choose your priorities, folks. Chrissy knows that, no matter what, trolls are going to have something to say.

"Or," Chrissy asks, should she share the photo of "him crying and my face looks okay and luna is over it?"

So, no matter what, Luna is over it. Luna is 100% done.

[Image: chrissy-teigen-and-luna-and-chrissy-teigen-again.png]

Speaking of sweet little Luna Stephens being so totally over it, check out this photo.

Chrissy showed Luna this in-store advertisement featuring her face.

Luna correctly identified the model's photo as her mother's.

She was not impressed.

Luna is just a few months past turning two years old. She loves her parents, but when you're that age, everything that your parents want to do is exhausting and takes forever.

[Image: chrissy-teigen-pretends-to-shoplift.gif]

Chrissy also shared a short video in which she pretends to shoplift.

"EDIT: DO NOT EVER STEAL OR PRETEND TO STEAL YOUR FRIEND’S @THEOUAI TESTERS IN FRONT OF EMPLOYEES," Chrissy writes int he captions.

First of all, you know, stealing is bad. You might think that shoplifting only "hurts" a huge, faceless corporation, but employees are held accountable for shrink.

"ONE, BECAUSE IT’S WRONG," Chrissy explains.

Apparently, this may have really been an edit, because it sounds like Chrissy got trolled over it.

"BUT TWO, IT WILL STARTLE EXTREMELY ANNOYING PEOPLE INTO BEING EXTREMELY OFFENDED ON THE ‘GRAM."

Trolls love to target Chrissy. We can't imagine that many of them believed that she was actually shoplifting.

Chrissy followed up that edit with an update.

"Update," Chrissy writes. "I am currently scrubbing pots in the back of a sephora."

This is a reference to what old-timey cartoons tell me was once a custom of restaurants forcing customers who couldn't pay for their meals to work off the expense by washing dishes in the kitchen.

We're pretty sure that, these days, the restaurant just contacts the police or bans the customers from returning.

In either case, fusing that concept with shoplifting beauty supplies is very much Chrissy's sort of humor.

She is such a delight.

Chrissy Teigen recently took issue with a news chyron referring to her as a "model." She says that it no longer really describes her.

She was a model and, clearly, she still is, even if they're for products with which she is involved.

Besides, neither "Twitter Queen" nor "MILF" really make a lot of sense for some random producer at CNN to write up to play on the news.

At the time, Chrissy was giving a speech at a Keep Families Together march on Saturday.

On Instagram, she expressed pride that her Donald Trump impression made the news.

She is such a treasure.

Khloe Kardashian Finally Reveals Her Post-Baby Body!
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 04:24 PM - No Replies

Khloe Kardashian is nuts. We mean that affectionately. She gets up before dawn to start exercising, which has helped give her her famous revenge body.
Though it hasn't even been three months since Khloe welcomed her baby girl, she's already showing off her figure in a bikini.

How does Khloe's post-baby body measure up? Take a look!

Khloe gave birth to precious baby True on April 12. It has not been three months just yet.

Our latest glimpse at her post-baby bikini body comes courtesy of little sister Kendall's Instagram stories.

Taking to social media, Kendall shared a simple snap of Khloe sunbathing in a yellow bikini.

Take a look:

[Image: khloe-kardashian-bikini-pic-kendall-jenn...-sunda.png]

Kendall captioned the photo "Sister Sunday."

In it, we see Khloe lounging in her two-piece while scrolling through her phone.

Khloe has stated in the past that she is "not a bikini girl."

Part of that may be lingering body insecurities -- totally undeserved. But it's mostly her inexplicable phobia of belly buttons.

Still, she looks great in this two-piece. Sure, this isn't the best angle, but it's clear that her hard work has been paying off.

On Snapchat, Khloe explained to her fans and followers back in May that getting back into exercise was a bit of an ordeal.

"The beginning parts of working out kind of suck because you’re pushing your body so hard," Khloe explained.

"You’re so tired," Khloe described. "And you’re trying to get back into your rhythm."

Khloe admitted: "It’s much more difficult than I think you expect it to be."

"I’ve been working out for 11 days now," Khloe revealed. "I feel really good, but tired."

"My body is sore because it’s re-waking itself back up," she says.

Of course, she also ejected a tiny human after manufacturing it. That could have something to do with the soreness.

[Image: khloe-kardashian-post-baby-body-gif-may-01.gif]

(In May, Khloe revealed her post-baby body after only a few days of exercise)

Khloe admitted that it was difficult, saying: "It’s also a struggle trying to fit in working out between feedings."

When she describes nursing like that, it sounds like she has to periodically lower a steer into a pit to satisfy a hungry dinosaur.

Actually, plenty of nursing moms would agree that there's a similar vibe to breastfeeding. But with more bonding.

“No two days are the same," Khloe lamented. "True is so great, but still, I can’t predict if she’s gonna sleep for the full two hours or if she’s hungry."

Some of us had the courtesy as babies to feed regularly.

[Image: khloe-kardashian-post-baby-body-gif-may-02.gif]

Pregnancy and childbirth can drastically transform a body. The realignment of your hips is permanent.

For many people, the changes in their overall body shape are permanent, too.

But for those with the time, resources, and genetics to reclaim their pre-baby bodies, many try to race to lose the weight that they gained during pregnancy.

Hey, good for them. Good for you, Khloe. We just hope that she's doing it for herself, and not so Tristan won't cheat.

Whether you've given birth to one baby or a dozen, or whether you can shed that weight or not, the path to having a bikini body is the same for everyone.

Step 1 is to have a body. Step 2 is to put a bikini on it. Congratulations! No matter your body type, you have a bikini body. Enjoy.

Amber Heard: BLASTED for Racist Tweet About Housekeepers
User Avatar Forum: Videos
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 04:16 PM - No Replies

Amber Heard would like to make two things very clear:
1. She is not racist.
2. The country has a major problem with racism.

The actress found herself at the center of a controversy related to this pair of issues on Tuesday, following a Tweet she wrote in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) setting up a road block near her home.
This is what the 32-year old star wrote shortly after midnight today:
"Just heard there's an ICE checkpoint in hollywood, a few blocks from where I live. Everyone better give their housekeepers, nannies and landscapers a ride home tonight," Tweeted Heard.
Her point here, of course, was that many housekeepers, nannies and landscapers are undocumented immigrants and that ICE may detain and deport them.
Is she wrong? Probably not, as a sort of extreme generalization.

But we can see why the Tweet caused some uproar, can't you?

“I can see where you were going but somewhere along the way you took a wrong turn. Delete this sis,” one social media wrote.

Heard did delete the post, but she didn't apologize for it.

Instead, she simply made the same point in a different way.

"With this human rights crisis being so politicized, it is hard to make a simple statement w/out it being used to distract from the real issues," she explained, adding:

"Its hard for everyone to not be negatively affected by this subject n some way."

Heard, of course, is talking about the ongoing debate over immigration, which has been spurred on by the separation of children from their parents at the border.

She later added:

"Checkpoints on your home streets….Is this the 'great' America we're aiming for?" Heard wondered on Twitter as well, 10 minutes after she published her incendiary tweet.

"Raids, fences and police-state like checkpoints don't feel like the 'land of the free' our immigrant ancestors built."

Heard shared a slew of photos on her Instagram page last week while attending a #KeepFamiliesTogether rally in Marcelino Serna Port of Entry in Texas, her home state.

One image of the actress depicts her sporting a sign that read:

“Apartheid was legal. Holocaust was legal. Legality is a matter of power, not justice.”

She was joined at similar protests around the country by such celebrities as Lena Dunham, Joshua Jackson, Connie Britton, Evan Rachel Wood and Sia.

She takes this issue extremely seriously and very personally.

"I was literally and figuratively raised by and with immigrants in my home and heart and life," she told the website.

Heard, meanwhile, split from Elon Musk last summer, several months after she finalized a very messy divorce from Johnny Depp

Farrah Abraham Frozen Yogurt Store: Shut Down!!
User Avatar Forum: TV
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 04:12 PM - No Replies

While fans are worrying if Farrah Abraham's latest feud will get her assassinated by the mob, Farrah has other business troubles.
We actually don't mean Farrah's sex work. Remember how she owns a frozen yogurt business for whatever reason?
It seems that it's closing its doors. In fact, like Farrah herself so often is, the store's former location has now been stripped bare.
Farrah Abraham's FroCo Fresh Frozen, a frozen yogurt restaurant located in an upscale shopping center outside of Austin, Texas, has closed.
The folks over at Starcasm hit the pavement to visit the Lakeway, Texas location of Farrah's latest venture.
The doors are closed. The space is dark, and will apparently be available for a new lease in August.
The logo and store name have been purged from the exterior.
More than that, however, the interior has reportedly been stripped bare of decorations. Even things like electrical features are missing, leaving behind exposed outlets.
The most heartwarming sight of all that Starcasm reported spotting was a trash back full of those nightmarish Cobas.
Cobas are FroCo's "cute" mascots, and only the mascot McDonald's introduced in 2014 fills us with greater dread.
If you can stare into these large, soulless eyes without a sense of despair, you're made of sterner stuff than we are.
Anyway, we don't think that the trash bag necessarily means that they're being tossed in the garbage.
If FroCo is closing for good, then we imagine that Farrah will want to sell them to her fans (yes, she has them) as collectables.
But there's another possibility.
It is possible that FroCo is simply moving to another location.
First of all, FroCo's Instagram account has continued to post as if nothing has changed.
Over the weekend, they were still encouraging people to drop by their location.
Even on Tuesday, July 3, the account was still posting -- this time, however, asking fans to demand that their local grocery stores order FroCo for their inventories.
Is it possible that FroCo is rebranding itself from a gaudily decorated frozen yogurt establishment to a frozen yogurt brand available nationwide?
Or is this just a change in venue -- so that Farrah's dream for the store can be fully realized?
See, Farrah has long envisioned FroCo as a place standing out from regular frozen yogurt stores.
(We have to point out that, and this is a bit of a spoiler, but the hit comedy The Good Place establishes that frozen yogurt is so unsatisfying that it's made widely available to damned souls. That arguably fits Farrah's brand)
Farrah wants FroCo to be like a miniature theme park. You know, like, playspaces at fast food restaurants?
She wants that, but for kids whose hands are sticky from eating frozen yogurt instead of greasy from touching french fries with their hands.
Specifically, Farrah wants a play space and she also wants the location to have a party room.

(Don't stare at this photo too long, or they will start to stare back)

Michael Abraham tells Starcasm that "All is good in Froco land!”
So they're apparently not going out of business.
“Farrah’s lease expired," Michael explains. "And Farrah is taking her ‘Froco’ brand to the next level: into grocery store food chains and other select outlets.”
Those Instagram posts that we mentioned, he says, were planned.
“This has been in the works for a while," Michael reports. "Along with a few ‘other’ business ideas coming out."
As Starcasm notes, Farrah's original plans were for opening FroCo on Austin's very trendy South Congress Ave. Some couldn't help but wonder if Farrah is planning to expand there.

Woman Holds Machete to Ex-Boyfriend, Forces Him to F-ck Her
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 04:05 PM - No Replies

A 19-year old woman in Montana was arrested late last week and charged with aggravated battery and assault with a weapon.
This is disturbing and dangerous on its own.
But the story has gone viral for the unusual reason why she was charged with aggravated battery and assault with a weapon.
According to the Great Falls Tribune, Samantha Ray Mears was taken into custody on Friday after she broke into an ex-boyfriend's home while he was away.
But the ex (of seven years) eventually returned, only to be confronted by Mears and the large knife in her hand.
Mears ordered this unnamed and unlucky young man to take off all of clothes and lie on his bed.
From there, with the machete at her ex-lover's face, Mears took off her pants and climbed on top of the frightened guy.
Mears then began to engage him in sexual intercourse, all while still holding the machete.
When he tried to stop the pounding, Mears bit him on the harm.
After the sexual deed was done, Mears sat nude on the bed, still brandishing the weapon, it must be noted.
At that point, the victim managed to snap several photos of her, which he later turned over to the police as evidence.
Before the authorities got involved, however, an argument ensued between the exes, prompting an angry Mears to rip a piece of trim from the victim’s wall and deliberately urinated in his bed.
The ex-boyfriend somehow conviced Mears shortly afterward that he needed to call a friend, escaping from the room to dial 911.
According to the Tribune, Mears was also arrested in April after a previous fight at the victim’s home where she grabbed his hair, hit him in the face and attempted to strangle him.
Call us crazy, but we don't think these two should get back together.
We just don't think they're on the same page in life.

Tina Turner's Oldest Son Commits Suicide
User Avatar Forum: Music
Posted by: Gimbiya - 07-05-2018, 04:01 PM - No Replies

Terrible news today out of the music world:
Tina Turner's oldest son, Craig, was found dead at his home in Studio City, California at 12:58 p.m. this afternoon.

He was 59 years old.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner's office has confirmed this tragedy, telling multiple outlets that Craig was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities reportedly arrived at his residence just after noon and pronounced him dead just a short while later, at the scene.
The aforementioned spokesperson told the press that a 911 call was placed, although it's unclear just who made the call.
Says the spokesperson in a little more detail:
"The call was reported as a suicide, gun shot wound. The next of kin has been notified. There will be an autopsy done and there is an investigator at the scene.”

Craig was born when Tina was 18 years old, prior to her up-and-down marriage Ike Turner.
Once Tina and Ike were husband and wife, however, Ike adopted four-year old Craig.
(His biological father was a saxophonist named Raymond Hill, who performed with Ike's band.)
This awful piece of news of comes as the legendary artist is making a rare trip outside her new home country of Switzerland to attend Paris Fashion Week events.
Craig Turner worked in the real estate business in the San Fernando Valley.
His mother is, simply put, one of the most successful and respected solo singers in history.
She counts "What's Love Got to Do With it" and "Proud Mary" among her best-known singles.

Tina also starred in such movies as Mad Max: Thunderdome and Last Action Hero.
Craig's suicide, meanwhile, follows a sad rash of similar events around the entertainment world.
Over the past few weeks alone, iconic fashiond designer Kate Spade has committed suicide, while beloved chef and author Anthony Bourdain has done the same.
Both these stars took their own lives via hanging.

Spade was 56 years old and Bourdain was 61.
May they rest in peace and may Craig Turner rest in peace.
Our thoughts go out to Tina and all of her loved ones

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie: We're Roommates!

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie: We're Roommates!

According to a new report, Scott Disick and Sofia Richie are living in sin.
How so?

By living with each other!
Indeed, about one month after rumors of a Disick-Richie break-up ran rampant around the Internet, sources now tell Us Weekly that the couple isn't just going strong...

... it's taken a major step in a very serious direction.

“Scott and Sofia are moving in together,” a source tells this tabloid very simply in its latest issue, adding of the arrangement:.
“She’ll move into his house.”
The decision to shack up follows a lot of chatter about Richie ending this romance after Disick allegedly cheated on Sofia in Miami this spring.

Scott was also seen getting very close and awfully cozy with a mystery woman at Kanye West’s Ye album listening party in Wyoming on May 31.
Classic Scott Disick, right?

That's what Kourtney Kardashian would say.
[Image: scott-disick-and-sofia-richie-on-snapchat.jpg]
Still, despite the widely held belief that Disick was sticking his penis into at least one other woman just a little while back, many people close to the situation had a feeling Richie wouldn't be able to walk away.

We guess she knew what she was getting into when she started dating Disick, right?

“It’s likely not totally over,” an insider told People Magazine of Richie and Disick in early June, right around the time of their alleged split, adding:
"They’ve broken up multiple times since they started dating and always ended up back together. No one would be surprised if they’re out again together in a few days or weeks."
Well, sure, right?
Who can resist the... charm of Scott Disick? The rugged handsomeness of Scott Disick? The ability of Scott Disick to drink a lot of alcohol in one night?
We really have no idea at this point.
Following the news of Disick’s supposed indiscretions, a confidant revealed that Richie confided in her famous father, Lionel Richie.
And how did the veteran singer respond?
Us Weekly writes that he threatened "to cut her off and write her out of his will if she continues her relationship with Scott as he thinks he’s extremely toxic for her.”
It now sounds as if Richie is willing to call this bluff.

Disick, of course, shares three kids with Kardashian: Mason, 8, Penelope, 6, and Reign, 3.

How does Kourtney feel about her ex-boyfriend's new living situation?
[Image: sofia-richie-and-scott-disick-valentines-throwback.png]
"She couldn’t be bothered by the drama,” says this first source. “She just cares about the kids and that they’re OK with the situation, which they are."
It also helps that Kourtney is on vacation at the moment as well.
And by the looks of things, she has every reason not to care at all about what Scott is doing.
Because look at who Kourtney is doing:
Nice catch there, Kourt.

Go ahead and suck a large one, Scott

Lagos Immunises 4.6 Million Children Against Polio
User Avatar Forum: Nutrition
Posted by: Edoman - 07-05-2018, 03:44 PM - No Replies

Following the second round of the 2018 National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) aimed at vaccinating children of between ages zero to 59 months against polio in Nigeria, the Lagos State government has vaccinated 4.9 million children across the state.

The campaign, which started Saturday June 30 to Tuesday July 3, 2018 at designated sites, covered 4859 houses, 752 fixed posts, and 1712 transit teams.

Speaking during the last lap of the exercise in Agege local government secretariat, the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Primary Healthcare, Dr. Olufemi Onanuga noted that the four day programme experienced massive turn out, as the state ensured there were activities which attracted children and caregivers for the exercise. He said the exercise is aimed at boosting the herd of immunity against poliomyelitis, adding that the children received two drops of oral polio vaccines irrespective of their previous immunisation status.

“To ensure the success of this year’s polio vaccination campaign, many training sessions were conducted to strengthen the capacity of relevant health workers. We also did massive media campaigns involving airing of jingles while LGA social mobilizers moved within communities to sensitize and mobilize citizenry effectively,” he explained.

He added, “The responsibility to vaccinate all eligible children against measles is not that of the parents and care givers alone. The responsibility rests on everybody to ensure that children are fully immunised against childhood preventable diseases.

“The state government is particularly interested in the health of the children and as such is prepared to carry out any activity that will ensure that their right to health is attained. Polio is one of the major killer diseases of children under the age of five years which can be prevented by vaccination.”

Reformed APC: "Be Patient" - Oshiomhole Begs Aggrieved Party Members..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-05-2018, 11:53 AM - No Replies

Quote:Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives (APC), has appealed to aggrieved members of the party to be patient with his leadership.

He said this shortly after news broke that a faction had pulled out of the ruling party.

The new faction, Reformed APC(R-APC), has many national assembly members and is led by Buba Galadima, a former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oshiomhole spoke after receiving the report of the party’s national convention appeal panel committee report.

“My appeal to all those who are aggrieved is to be patient,” Oshiomhole said.

“The assurance is that under my leadership, we will make honest mistakes and once our attention is drawn, we will find courage to make up for our mistake.

“Some people say how can people eat their words, for me, I will eat my words if it is nutritious enough and if that is what I have to do to have peace in the family.”

He expressed appreciation to members of the party for his election and for entrusting with him, the responsibility to pilot the party’s affairs at this time.

He acknowledged that he knew of the party’s challenges before accepting the task, saying it is a huge opportunity for him and other newly elected executives of the party to make a difference.

This, Oshiomhole said, was not only for the party, but for the country generally.

“So, I appeal to people to realise that a blind man can redeem his eyes if he applies the correct medication, but you can’t force it to open over night,” he said.

He added that forcing the eyes to open over night, would create more problems and damage the eye the more.

The APC national chairman maintained that he would do everything possible to sustain confidence and trust, adding that everybody was important in the party.

He also said that everybody in the party matters, adding that he would run an inclusive party.

“I pray for wisdom and courage and I believe that we have it and we will deploy it for peace within the APC family,” Oshiomhole said.

Ancestral Attachment: Southern, Middle Belt Leaders Chide Femi Adesina..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 07-05-2018, 11:51 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has vehemently protested the assertion by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, that it would be better for those that were opposed to cattle ranching to provide lands than to die in the herdsmen’s attacks.

Adesina, while speaking on an African Independent Television (AIT) programme on Tuesday, had told the anti-ranching protesters that they would on lay claim to ancestral attachment when they were still alive.

Reacting to Adesina’s comments in a statement signed by Mr. Yinka Odumakin (South-west), Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-south), Prof Chigoziw Ogbu (South-east) and Isuwa Dogo (Middle Belt), the forum described Adeshina’s position as “scandalous, reckless, insensitive and vexatious.”

“The attention of Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has been drawn to the scandalous, reckless, insensitive and vexatious statement credited to Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser, Media to the President that all communities opposed to Federal Cattle Territories (FCT) misnamed ranches should choose between their lands and their lives.

“Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are taking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead how does the attachment matter?” said Adesina.

“We take this ludicrous declaration as a death sentence on all those who oppose the imperialist agenda of the federal government to grab lands from communities in Nigeria and hand over to herdsmen for their private business.

“Adesina is close to the heart of presidency to know why it has treated killer Fulani herdsmen with kid gloves in the last three years and the arrogance with which he spoke showed they now assume their foot soilders have terrorised us into submission .

“This death threat is coming after the president told the governor of Benue State in January to learn how to live with murderers, the Inspector General of Police saying the killers are Nigerians, the Defence Minister claiming that blockage of cattle routes is the reason the herdsmen are killing and the same Adesina telling us the killings done under Buhari in three years have not equalled the number of deaths that occurred under PDP,” the leaders stated.

According to the forum, Adeshina’s statement is a confirmation of their earlier charge that the role of the president and the duty the president owes to the terror herdsmen are in conflict, adding that there is greater allegiance to the cows than the country.
“If Adesina keeps his job in the next 24 hours, all doubt would be removed over the statement Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) made that there is a working relationship between the killers and the security forces,” they said.

You’ve shown incapacity to contain prevailing insecurity, ASUU tells FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has blamed the Federal Government for its seeming inability to anticipate, manage and control the wanton killings and destruction of property in the country.

At a news briefing yesterday in Abuja tagged, State of the Nation: Time to end the drift, ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, lambasted politicians for taking advantage of the raging crisis between farmers and herdsmen to feather their political nests.

He said it is high time government checked the drift in governance since the return to civilian rule in 1999.

According to him, Nigerians had hoped for socio-economic opportunities that would improve their unenviable conditions but have had them dashed by successive administrations.

On the farmers-pastoralists conflict, ASUU said President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government must take responsibility for the failure to anticipate and manage the massacres in parts of the federation.

Ogunyemi therefore called on government to immediately set up a national panel made up of Nigerians with track records in rule of law to investigate the carnage.

His words: “Government’s handling of the issue has fallen far short of protecting certain constitutional provisions on fundamental human rights.”

The ASUU boss particularly accused government of failure to enforce Section 17 (2b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which upholds the sanctity of human life and dignity.

Also yesterday, a pro-democracy organisation, Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA), described as insensitive, heartless and irresponsible the statement credited to the presidency “blackmailing Nigerians to give up their land for ranching rather than being killed.”

It contended that the assertion was the clearest circumstantial evidence that the current administration had resolved to watch as hundreds of farmers are murdered in their land by suspected herdsmen.

HURIWA expressed optimism that the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands would take judicial notice of this “confessional statement of guilt in the killings of innocent Nigerians by Miyetti Allah Cattle Owners Association’s sponsored armed Fulani herdsmen and therefore order the arrest of key government officials working for the Muhammadu Buhari administration.”

Jaafaru Ibrahim, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kaduna state, has withdrawn his membership of the party.
Ibrahim who the zonal campaign director of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, during the 2015 election, announced his resignation from the APC in a letter to chairman of the party in his ward.

He is from Kwabai ward in Zaria local government area of the state.

Ibrahim described APC as a sinking ship, saying it has failed to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Kaduna and Nigerians.

He said remaining in the APC would be tantamount to committing “political suicide”.

Ibrahim accused el-Rufai of abandoning the party’s manifesto and setting personal goals and objectives, which according to him, are detrimental to the future of the party.

Between June and December 2015, Ibrahim, a legal practitioner, was the interim management committee chairman of Zaria.

“Recent developments before, during and after the party congresses in Kaduna state are further confirmation of our fears that some of us are not wanted in the party, such that our continuous stay and in-house struggles and skirmishes had not only stagnated but rendered the party comatose due to the fact that the worst elements, crooks, swindlers as well as the most selfish have taken control of both the party and the government, making the future of the APC uncertain,” the letter read.

“The state is mired in violence and people are being killed on a daily basis, criminality, rural banditry, cyclical atrocities between political classes, kidnapping and robbery are taking their toll on the lives and livelihood of citizens of the state rendering the constitutional provisions that the Governor as the chief security officer should provide for the security and welfare of the people an empty rhetoric.

“Moreover, the Governor has woefuly failed to address problems such as unemployment, abject poverty, hunger and housing and deliver on its promises as contained in its abandoned manifesto.

“The Kaduna State Government had since lost focus, commitment, zeal, determination, culminating in poor governance as a result of transparency, integrity, due process and accountability deficit.

“Our continued advise both privately and publicly for an improvement on both party administration and the state has been met with stiff opposition over which we have been called names in vituperative and unprintable languages.

“In view of the above therefore, it is obvious that APC in Kaduna state in particular, is like a sinking ship, hence every discernable mind has to scamper into safety as in this circumstances. I am not ready to commit political suicide hence it is with greatest regret that I have formally announce the withdrawal of membership from the party which we laboured to establish forthwith.”

Some of the APC chieftains in the state who have left the party are Yaro Makama Rigachiku, Isa Ashiru, Jagaba Adams Jagaba and Hakeem Baba Ahmed, chief of staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki
