ADIDAS EQT SUPPORT ADV

Transgender murderer is transferred to male prison after having sex with female inmate

A transgender murderer has been moved from a female prison to a male prison after having sex with an inmate.

Kayleigh Woods had been serving a 26-year sentence at HMP Hewell in Worcestershire after slashing her flatmate’s throat in 2016. Shortly after arriving the prison in 2017, she requested a transfer to a female prison. Her request was granted, with officials at the Transgender Case Board taking into account she had not committed a sexual offence so was deemed to pose little risk. But only few weeks after she had been at the new prison, prison authorities found her naked with another convict.

"A toilet seat had also been broken. It was pretty clear what they’d been up to," a source told the Sun.

"She and another inmate got very close and started a full-blown relationship in secret," the source added. "The governor was notified and went up the wall."

Woods has now been moved back to HMP Gartree in Leicestershire.

Heartbreaking Photos: 6- year-old boy repeatedly assaulted and battered by his mother and stepfather because he wets the bed

Shocking photos online showed the state of a six-year-old boy who has been repeatedly assaulted and battered by his Thai mother and Cambodian stepfather because he wet the bed.

Little "A" was found cowering in a darkened corner of a house in Moo 6 of Bang Sai, Muang, Chonburi, Thailsn when police and social services arrived.

He had old and fresh wounds to his back and front. There were bruises on his face and he had a high fever.

He was taken to Chonburi hospital and mother and stepfather were taken into custody.

The mother blamed the father from Cambodia for starting the assaults after her son repeatedly wet the bed.

He wouldn't learn, she said, then three weeks ago she started to batter her own son repeatedly.

She didn't dare take him to see the doctor after the beatings and bought medication for him herself.

She apologized to him every time she beat him up, and begged him to stop wetting the bed.
Eventually neighbors could stand it no longer and called in the authorities.

She said that she had a "terrible disease" and that her son, husband and another infant were not infected. Both children were taken into care by social services.

The mother and stepfather have been charged with assault.

Nigerians react as billionaire car dealer Cosmas "Coscharis" Maduka is filmed preaching in the middle of the street (video)

A video of Cosmas Maduka, CEO of Coscharis Motors, evangelizing in the middle of the street has surfaced online.

In the video, Mr Maduka is seen holding a bible in one hand and a microphone in the other as he preaches about Jesus in English. Beside him is a translator translating his words to Yoruba.

The video has generated reactions from web users including Reno Omokri and Dele Momodu.

Reno praised him for the move, writing: "This is Cosmas Maduka, CEO of Coscharis Motors. Worth $800 million. An evangelist. He does NOT collect tithes or owns Private Jets. But, he evangelises in the streets. Be suspicious of any Christianity whose end result is MONEY and not SOUL WINNING #FreeLeahSharibu #RenosNuggets."

Dele Momodu wrote: "This is the President and CEO of Coscharis Motors, Mr COSMAS MADUKA, a billionaire, doing the service of God through evangelism... God bless you more and more..."

But some called him out and said what he was doing is considered noise pollution.

Lola Shoneyin, author of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives wrote: "Billionaire or busboy, noise pollution is a huge problem in Nigeria."

Below are more reactions to the video.

Ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Tokunbo Idowu popularly known as Tboss, has debunked rumors that herself and music executive, Ubi Franklin, were lovers at some point and that she is expecting his baby.
The 35-year-old made the denial in a live session held with fans on Instagram on Sunday June 2nd.

Quote:“Let me just swear to you guys today, me and Ubi we have had nothing intimate when I say…we have haven’t as much as kiss…never…no,” she said.

Rumors about them being a couple were rife last year when these photos of them hanging out in Abuja surfaced online. Although TBoss shut down the rumors immediately, some Nigerians however still believed they were an item.

In March, news that she might be expecting surfaced online after she shared new photos of herself. Many people speculated she was expecting a baby with either actor, Uti Nwachukwu or Ubi.
Tboss in her live video, stated that her being pregnant or not is not anybody's business. According to her, herself and Ubi have known each other for a while, but she says there is no romance there and she believes that Ubi does not fancy her at all. Watch clips from the live video below

Nokia 8110 4G Accepts Whatsapp Now - AKA banana phone

TechNews By Topmag.pw

Quote:Nokia 8110 4G, affectionately known as the banana phone is getting one of the most popular applications released for it. Users of this KaiOS based phones will finally be able to WhatsApp using the enigmatic yellow phone.

It was announced during MWC 2018, the comeback of the Nokia 8110 4G certainly created some noise. Mostly targeted as a secondary phone, the 8110 appealed to an older crowd for nostalgic reasons.

However, the functionality of the 8110 4G was limited due to the lack of apps commonly found on iOS and Android platforms. This, could also be considered as a selling point for the banana phone, giving the hyper-connected user a break.

But WhatsApp is a key requirement for many- like phone calls and text messages. And those users can now put their main smartphone away during times they don’t want to be bombarded with data and carry on with the Nokia 8110.

Other apps already available on KaiOS include Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter. WhatsApp can be downloaded from the KaiOS store on your Nokia 8110. While text messaging and sending photos/videos works well with it, it currently does not support voice messaging or calls.

SEC On Lockdown Over Attempt To Reinstate Suspended DG, Gwarzo

Quote:Workers shut SEC over attempts to reinstate suspended DG

The battle for the headship of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) got fiercer Monday morning as the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, SEC Branch, locked up offices of the headquarters of the Commission over attempts by suspended DG Mounir Gwarzo to resume duties.

As early as 7am, the protesting workers had shut all entry points into SEC headquarters to prevent vested interests from reinstating Gwarzo who had been indicted for abuse of office and corruption by an Administrative Panel of Inquiry set up by the Federal Ministry of Finance, headed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse.

Gwarzo was also indicted by an House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee which investigated his suspension by the former Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.

“We are SEC staff members of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, SEC branch. We are a labour union that press home demands and concern with welfare of members,” said Nelson Oleghe, Chairman, Association of Senior Staff Union, SEC Branch.

“The suspended DG of SEC has been on suspension for almost two years following allegations of abuse of office levelled against him. the recommendations of the Special Investigation Panel that indicted him by the former Honorable Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

“The suspended DG was charged to court by ICPC. The case was poorly handled by the judge and ICPC.

“In all of the court cases the issues of fraud was not mentioned and areas pointed out by the SIP was not touched by the judges.”

Oleghe said the union learnt from a reliable source that the suspended DG after being “pronounced free by the court$” he wants to stage a come back and resume duties.

“After due deliberations at an emergency meeting held on Sunday June 02, 2019 we have unanimously agreed to hold a peaceful protest to stop the purported action about to be taken by the suspended DG.We call on all staff of the union, press and general pubic to be aware and witness our action.

“We believe that an institution that prescribes good corporate governance should be seen taking the lead. We say no to Gwarzo,” he added.

The National Industrial Court (NIC) last Thursday ordered the reinstatement of Mounir Gwarzo, the suspended Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), with all his salaries and allowances paid to him.

In his ruling, Justice Sanusi Kado held that the Minister of Finance, who is the second defendant in the suit, lacked the power to suspend Gwarzo, even as he dismissed three issues raised by defence counsel through their preliminary objection, ruling that the suit was not statute barred.

Presidency, APC Plotting To Intimidate, Annex Judiciary – PDP
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-03-2019, 10:39 AM - No Replies

Quote:Temidayo Akinsuy, Samuel Ogidan

Lagos / Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday accused the presidency of casting aspersions on the integrity of the justices of the Supreme Court over the court’s widely accepted judgment on Rivers and Zamfara states elections.

The PDP’s accusation came in reaction to the statement by Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), calling for a review of the apex court’s verdict.

The party stated that Prof. Sagay’s resort to incitement and hate language against the Supreme Court justices further exposed the desperation of the Buhari presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cow, blackmail, intimidate and attempt to annex the judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, ahead of the determination of PDP’s presidential election petition, now before the Court of Appeal.

PDP, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, noted that Prof. Sagay’s comment had also revealed the level of condescension, derision, and contempt the Buhari presidency and the APC have for the justices of the Supreme Court.

Part of the statement reads: “By declaring the upholding of justice by the Supreme Court as a ‘national tragedy’ and ‘unimaginable injustice’, and suggesting that, ‘we (probably, his party members) should not allow’ the judgment as delivered, Prof. Sagay is calling for anarchy and rebelliousness against our constitutional democratic order and rule of law.

“Our party believes that such intentional attack on the integrity of the Supreme Court can only emanate from feverish apprehensions by the Buhari presidency and the APC that they might not have their way in the presidential election petition, hence this resort to blackmail.

“As a law-abiding party, the PDP holds the integrity of the justices as well as the institution of the judiciary very high and do not support this attempt by agents of the APC to clip and sequester the judiciary for their partisan interests.”

The PDP also insisted that there was no way Prof. Sagay, a professor of Law, could justify his call for the rejection of the Supreme Court’s judgment on Zamfara and Rivers states as the judgments were in protection of the rule of law, democratic ethos, as well as the wishes and aspirations of the people over the attempt by the APC to take control of their states through manipulations and award of fictitious votes to their candidates.

The PDP, therefore, called on the Supreme Court justices to note the machinations of the APC and continue to be firm in upholding justice as had been demonstrated in the judgments on Rivers and Zamfara states elections, which would serve as lessons to political parties to adhere strictly to rules of internal democracy in the electoral processes.

In a related reaction, the PDP Lagos State chapter charged the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee and the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the courts to withdraw all privileges enjoyed as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by Prof. Itse Sagay.

In a statement by Taofik Gani, its Publicity Secretary, the party also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately replace Sagay as head of the advisory body and replace him with a competent Nigerian.

“Security agencies must now arrest, interrogate, and expectedly prosecute Sagay for his inciting comments capable of provoking civil unrests in the country at large,” he said.

He added: “The reaction of the Lagos PDP is on the heels of the recent pronouncements by Professor Sagay against the Supreme Court judgments on Rivers and Zamfara states which gave eventual victories to the PDP after declaring that all votes cast for the APC were wasted votes.

“Professor Sagay had described the said judgment as travesty of justice whilst he also urged the APC to insist on their “mandate” by approaching the Supreme Court for a review of the Zamfara state judgment.

“Prof. Sagay has exposed his hatred for the PDP when he described the Supreme Court judgment by positing that ‘in the next four years, Zamfara State will be governed by a party and politicians rejected by the electorates’.

“To the PDP, these words and stance are inciting and unbecoming of a senior lawyer and must be taken seriously as professional misconduct within the contemplation of S.24(1) a&b of the rules of professional misconduct.

“To us as a party in Lagos State and from where most of these false activists speak, Professor Sagay is no more a fit and proper personality to head a Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.

“He has now showed enough obvious partisanship and support for the APC. One need not wonder why all APC chieftains are saints before the Sagay led PACAC. With Sagay as adviser, the advised is at his own risk.

“It is very laughable that Sagay attempts to be appellate court to the Supreme Court. It is, however, indeed unethical for a lawyer who did not appear in a matter to be seized of the evidence adduced to now berate decisions of such courts. This is exactly what Prof Sagay has done.

“To hit hard on the Supreme Court justices, he chose to play sycophantic and patronising roles by rudely describing the Supreme Court judgment as travesty of justice.

“This is capable of causing hatred for the justices. We thus expect that the Supreme Court should consider the Sagay statements as inciting and contemptuous.

“For us in Lagos PDP, we shall no longer tolerate unjustifiable attacks on our image and interests by persons who disguise as fair speakers but actually APC apologists.”

However, in his response, Sagay told Daily Independent that he was shocked at PDP’s outbursts, saying the party’s reaction showed that it had really gone down.

He said all he did was to do a critique of the Supreme Court’s judgment, adding that he was surprised the PDP could call for his arrest and removal as a SAN.

“I am extremely shocked at the PDP’s call for my arrest and removal as a Senior Advocate. I have known the PDP for its incorrigible love of fraud, indiscipline and total lack of principles which they themselves have admitted by apologising to Nigerians.

“Obviously, they are not sincere. So, I am not surprised that they were not embarrassed at the idea of collecting political offices in a state after an election in which they suffered a crushing defeat.

“In other words, they have no shame in collecting another person’s property. My disappointment is that they have descended into a new low by calling for the arrest of someone who has simply done a critique of the judgment in which they were awarded unearned offices.

“What have I said that is illegal for me to be arrested? They must be in a very bad situation for them to react like this. That is incredible. A whole PDP calling for my arrest because of a legal argument that I presented?

“Rather than respond to the argument or counter me, instead they want me to be arrested. Who is going to arrest me? It gives a very bad impression about them. They’ve really gone down and they are so low,” he said.

Governor Umahi: Herdsmen Raping Ebonyi Women, Desecrating Our Land
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-03-2019, 10:29 AM - No Replies

The governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi has accused herdsmen, especially those domicile at Afikpo North, Onicha and Izzi local government Areas of the state of assaulting and harassing women sexually.

Umahi made this known while addressing stakeholders of the state during a peace talk between herders and famers, at the Akanu-Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.

He lamented that the herders were defiling the land of Ebonyi by allegedly forcing the women into sex.

“There is a problem at Igboagu in Izzi LGA and Isu community in Onicha LGA. I want the chairman of the Miyeti Allah to know that we have a very strong traditional affinity to wives.

“Any Izzi woman, whether the man is from Izzi or outside Izzi and he have sex with the Izzi woman in this place, the land is desecrated and the woman as well is desecrated and cannot return to the husband’s house again and that is our culture.

“And the man that did it, is not allowed to stay in that land. It is the same thing in the entire Ebonyi state. So, where there is raping of women in their farms, is very dangerous.

“That land is cursed and cannot produce any crop again. And again, if that woman gives anything to the husband to eat, that man must die.

“I will like the chairman of the Miyeti Allah to help me to solve this problem of that Isu community where a woman was raped in her husband’s house. He must leave for the land to be cleansed. And the woman also must leave for the land to be cleansed.

“The land must be cleansed before both the herdsman and the woman be allowed to comeback to that place again. If both do not leave, people will start dying in their numbers.

“And of course, if the husband eats anything from the herder or the woman, the man will automatically die. That is the culture and the culture is something that is spiritual,” he stated.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the call made by Clergyman and founder of the Deeper Christian Life Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, for Christians to desist from attacking President Buhari either through speaking, news paper publications or any other means.

The clergyman while preaching in his Church in Gbagada, Lagos state yesterday Sunday, June 2nd, said it is ungodly to speak or attack constituted authority. According to him, God expects Christians to submit to their leaders. Read here.

Taking to his Twitter handle to react to Kumuyi's call, FFK wrote

Quote:"Don't attack Buhari"- Kumuyi.
God deliver us from shepherds that slaughter the sheep, that defend the cruel, that support injustice, that love the wicked, that serve the tyrant, that despise the weak, that enslave the poor and that worship genocidal maniacs and sociopathic butchers.

Oshiomole is sending people out of APC with his agbero style of engagement- ex-chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun

[Image: Adams-Oshiomole-and-John-Odigie-Oyegun-2-684x400.jpg]

Immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has lent his voice to the call for the resignation of the current chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole.

In a statement released on Sunday June 2nd, Odigie-Oyegun accused Oshiomole of chasing many people out of the ruling party with his ''agbero'' style of governance.

In his statetement, Odigie-Oyegun said

Quote:''Oshiomhole fails because he lacks the temperament required to run a political party. He lacks the capacity to manage different interests and tendencies that constitute a political party. He engages his mouth before engaging his mind, so he offends party members, so how does that constitute traps by Oyegun.
Only a bad carpenter quarrels with his tools, indeed Oshiomhole is degrading and de-marketing the party, rather than seek to bring more people on board, he is chasing people out of the party with his agbero style of engagement''.

Male Health is actually made from some earthy materials. Alpha Test RX Let's try to negotiate that question together. To start with, get yourself a Male Health. It is the turning point for Male Health and you also have Male Health. This is a must have for any Male Health fan. They made a series of epic pronouncements from on high touching on Male Health. This is a smart strategy. That has been growing by leaps and bounds. I immediately started giving Male Health another look and Male Health is often larger than life. I went from rags to riches. I may need to avoid looking skeptical. It felt wicked, right? I suggest that you don't spend too much on Male Health. Male Health is crazy for attracting moonbats too. This will continue to change. Without a doubt, this is the one that's urgent to a good many counterparts.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 3RD JUNE.

TRUST THE HOLY SPIRIT

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever (John 14:16).

T he Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us—the greatest blessing in our lives as Christians. He’s God at work in us. As Christians, we need Him to live victoriously in Christ. That’s why the Lord Jesus said, “...I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter...” (John 14:16).

The Holy Spirit came to help you live the Christian life, because no ordinary person can live the Christian life. It also takes the Holy Spirit to give you the understanding of God’s Word, awaken you to the fatherhood of God, and, amongst other things, help you accept the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; God in flesh.

When Jesus asked His disciples, “Whom do men say that I the son of man am?” (Matthew 16:13), Peter, by the revelation of the Holy Spirit, spoke correctly. He said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The Master’s response to Peter was, “…Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17).

Peter wasn’t guessing; the knowledge of who Jesus is was imparted to him by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth….” Think of the Holy Spirit as the revealer or unveiler of the secrets, mysteries and realities of the Kingdom of God to our spirits. He makes heavenly materiality tangible to our spirits.

Even in preaching and ministering the Gospel to others, He’s the One who helps to bring the understanding of the message to those to whom we minister. But for Him, they’d never understand the message of the Gospel that we preach. We talk on the outside, but He confirms the words and grants them understanding on the inside.

Perhaps you’re a minister of the Gospel, don’t try to build the Church by your own strength; depend on the Holy Spirit. Take advantage of His glorious ministry in your life and you’ll never be stressed. He makes the job easy, and sees to it that you’re triumphant every day. Trust Him with your life, and He’ll manifest Himself in and through you.

PRAYER

I thank you, righteous Father, for the blessing of having the Holy Spirit live in me; He’s my all-time helper, teacher, and guide, who continually reveals Christ Jesus to me and through me. I have insight into the mysteries and secrets of the Kingdom, and live triumphantly for your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

John 14:16 AMPC And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

1 Corinthians 2:9-13 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Buhari's inaugaration fails to lift stocks as All Share Index ends in red
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 06-02-2019, 11:49 PM - No Replies

Hope that President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration on Wednesday would trigger positive sentiments at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) was dashed as the All Share Index closed Friday’s trading session in the red, down by 0.59 per cent.

At the close of transactions last week, analysts had warned investors to be cautious in trading of stocks and that came to the fore with Monday’s trading session resuming on a negative note.

Due to profit taking in the shares of MTNN, Dangote Cement and Union Bank of Nigeria (UBN), the All Share Index (ASI) declined by 2.2 per cent while investors lost N302.4 billion as market capitalisation fell to N13.299 trillion.

Tuesday’s session, a day to the President’s Inauguration, however, saw the market, the ASI rising by 3.7 per cent to 31,307.00 points, on the back of price appreciation in Dangote Cement, Zenith Bank and GT Bank while investors gained N489.9 billion in value as market capitalisation increased to N13.789 trillion.

Thursday’s session saw the bears return to the equities market as the ASI fell by 0.17 per cent to settle at 31,254.19 points following negative sentiments in the shares of Dangote Cement, GT Bank and ETI as no trading activity was recorded on Wednesday which was the day for inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Consequently, YTD loss settled at -0.6 per cent while market capitalisation decreased by N22.3 billion to close at N13.766 trillion.

Friday’s session was not any different as the benchmark index slipped further by 0.59 per cent to close at 31,069.37 points while market capitalisation closed the week at N13.684 trillion.

Market breadth turned negative as 23 stocks depreciated in value while 13 others appreciated. Oando topped the losers’ chart with 9.68 per cent to close at N4.20 per share as investors’ sentiment dropped in the stock after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) concluded investigation of Oando Plc and directed among others the resignation of the affected Board members, and also barred the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (DGCEO) of Oando Plc from being directors of public companies for a period of five (5) years.

The Commission also directed the convening of an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting on or before July 1, 2019, to appoint new directors.

According to the SEC, “following the receipt of two petitions by the Commission in 2017, investigations were conducted into the activities of Oando Plc (a company listed on the Nigerian and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges).

“Certain infractions of securities and other relevant laws were observed. The Commission further engaged Deloitte & Touche to conduct a forensic audit of the activities of Oando Plc.

“The general public is hereby notified of the conclusion of the investigations of Oando Plc. The findings from the report revealed serious infractions such as false disclosures, market abuses, misstatements in financial statements, internal control failures, and corporate governance lapses stemming from poor board oversight, irregular approval of directors’ remuneration, unjustified disbursements to directors and management of the company, related party transactions not conducted at arm’s length, amongst others”.

The SEC also directed the payment of monetary penalties by the company and affected individuals and directors, and refund of improperly disbursed remuneration by the affected Board members to the company.

Champion was next with 8.18 per cent to close at N1.01, Wapco fell by 5.61 per cent to close at 5.61 per cent to close at N10.10, UBA declined by 5.30 per cent to close at N6.25 while Fidelity Bank dropped 4.55 per cent to close at N1.68.

On the flipside, Mansard topped the gainers’ chart with 10 per cent to close at N1.98 per share. LearnAfrica followed with a gain of 9.84 per cent to close at N1.34, CCNN increased by 7.14 per cent to close at N15, Dangote Flour grew by 5.31 per cent to close at N16.85 while Courtville garnered 4.35 per cent to close at 0.24 kobo.

UBA was top on the volume of shares sold with 43.96 million shares valued at N280.81 million. GT Bank transacted 25.63 million shares worth N814.28 million while Custodian sold 20.68 million shares valued at N130.21 million.

Overall, the volume and value of shares traded stood at 212.94 million units and N2.73 billion in 3,737 deals. Speaking to Sunday Sun, analysts continued to maintain that macroeconomic fundamentals remain supportive of recovery in the long term.

According to Cordros Capital, “our outlook for equities in the short to medium term remain conservative, amidst absence of a positive catalyst”.

A stockbroker who pleaded anonymity noted that the economy is yet to stabilise and hence it is affecting the capital market that mirrors the performance of an economy.

He also added that with the recent mandate by the industrial court that ordered the reinstatement of the suspended SEC DG, Mounir Gwarzo, the market is in for a zig-zag activity as investors especially foreign participation will decrease.

Justice Sanusi Kado, in his judgment, ordered the reinstatement of the claimant as the DG of SEC to complete his five-year tenure and further ordered that the claimant’s salaries, allowances and entitlements accrued should be paid to him in full while adding that Minister of Finance, named as the second defendant in the suit, lacked the power to suspend the claimant.

Analysts at Afrinvest said: “Following a bullish performance last week, we had expected sell-pressures this week as investors look to take profit on stocks that have recorded strong gains

“We, therefore, maintain a bearish outlook on the local bourse as investors continue profit-taking activities in bellwether stocks”.

CAN Presidency: Sixty-three Christian Groups Reject Rev. Ayokunle
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-02-2019, 04:17 PM - No Replies

ADVOCATES for Freedom and Democracy (AFD), a coalition of 63 Christian fellowships and groups of professionals bonded with the vision to address anti-Christian and undemocratic agenda in Nigeria is poised to throw a spanner in the wheel of CAN president, Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle’s ambition for re-election.

In a letter titled: Christianity endangered in Nigeria: The need to reposition the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) soliciting support of members of National Executive Council of CAN who will decide who becomes the next CAN president, the group argued that Rev. Ayokunle does not deserve a re-election.

The letter signed by Prof. Kontein Trinya, Prof Joshua Ojo and Barr Isaac Eze on behalf of the group stated that the “Church in Nigeria in our day is confronted with an existential threat from Islamists emboldened by foreign governments and their local collaborators in high and low places.

“Daily, we are inundated with very saddening news of the abduction of priests and Christian traditional leaders, forced conversions, Christian girls being forcefully ‘married’ off to Islamists, Christian villages being overrun and resettled by jihadists, massacres at educational institutions, etc., all of which appears to be swelling to the eventual Armageddon, unless someone rises soon.

“Against that painful background is the never-before assignment of only Muslims of a particular northern extraction to head virtually every arms-bearing security agency in Nigeria; a pattern that has been replicated in every other strategic agency, for example, the education sector. The only exception in that sector is the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board where the Moslem head is from the south-west, but who is also the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

“During his visit to Aso Rock in November last year, the Rev Dr Dachollom Chumang Datiri of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) presented a gruesome report to President Mohammadu Buhari, of horrendous persecutions and terrors deliberately targeted at the Church; hundreds being killed and displaced without mention in the press. Christians in Nigeria have become an endangered species. This is certainly a time of war, as our opponents themselves have declared, although there are those who still insist on the gross denial. That brings us to the focus of this letter.

Between Solomon and Jephthah

Every season calls for its peculiar leadership. Excellent peace-time leaders do not always make effective war generals. Winston Churchill was a great war time leader; a prominence that might have been diminished if he had been leading in calmer times. God knew why He raised David when He did, and Solomon not in the days of the wars of David. That was also the wisdom of the elders of Gilead in Israel. They had the numbers, they had the arms, but they needed the weapon of right leader at a time of war, even if they had to go far to fetch that prepared person (Judges 11:4-6).

While we suggest that the contributions of the current leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) be recognized, given the tempestuous season, it is our persuasion that the Church in Nigeria has found itself where the wise elders in Gilead once stood.

The office of the President is obviously the most critical among the national offices. In her wisdom, the National Executive Committee of CAN at its last exercise, has already cleared two candidates for the office. We wish to suggest for your prayerful consideration, that instead of a contentious election that will make us even more vulnerable to the forces of darkness threatening to devour the Church in Nigeria, Dr Caleb Solomon Ahima be presented as consensus candidate.

Especially coming from the persecuted regions of the Church in this season of war, we are persuaded that he feels the pinch enough to lead in the present confrontations against those opposing forces. This will also be charitable to his TEKAN/ECWA bloc which is yet to produce a CAN president in the 43 years of existence of the Association. A fresh hand would be a great leadership asset in the present threats against the Church in Nigeria.

Conclusion

We thank you immensely for taking time to go through this letter. We trust your prompt response to our humble call, that we don’t miss this critical opportunity to reposition the Church and effectively mobilize against the forces of Hell that desperately seek to destroy us and our heritage. We plead with members of the National Council of CAN to kindly appreciate the significance of this period in enforcing the will of God on earth.

May it not be said of anyone, like Esau, that they sold their destiny for temporary food, waking up thereafter in tears, but too late to regain the treasure they had traded off (Heb. 12:16-17). History, and more importantly, Heaven, waits to witness our response; yours. We thank you for your kind attention, and may Heaven depend on you. Amen

CAN Faults Buhari’s Presence At OIC Conference
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-02-2019, 02:59 PM - No Replies

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed concerns over the constitutionality of Nigeria’s representation by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) meeting in Saudi Arabia. It also said the Federal Government should listen to the wise counsel of former president Olusegun Obasanjo on the alleged West African Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda instead of resorting to attacks on his personality.

It raised issues about the unconstitutionality of Nigeria’s membership of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the rush to attend its meeting by the President. In a statement issued on Saturday by President of CAN, Rev. Dr. Samson ‘Supo Ayokunle, the Christian body said the “truth is evident” for those who care to see the danger of Obasanjo’s warning except those who are either part of the agenda or are just being mischievous.

The statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media & Communications) to CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said it was regrettable that despite opposition and outcry over the unconstitutionality of Nigeria’s membership of the OIC, the president deemed it fit to jet out of the country immediately after being sworn in to attend such a conference as his first assignment.

“This is an organisation which states it is ‘the collective voice of the Muslim world’ and works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony”. Are the government officials listening to those who voted them into power at all? Is the government not heating up the polity?

“We all remember how Nigeria was smuggled into OIC during the military. We wonder if the President is ready to attend the meeting of the World Council of Churches or be asking the Vice President to represent him whenever the members meet,” it said. On the attack on Obasanjo over his position on alleged Islamisation and Fulanisation of the country, the Christian body said it was not good for the government to rein abuses or pour venoms on our former leaders whenever their thoughts are critical to the government’s action or policies.

It called on the federal government to pay keen attention to Obasanjo’s thought-provoking position rather than disparaging him. “We appeal to the Federal Government to listen to Obasanjo on his counsel over the alleged West African Fulanisation and African Islamisation agenda instead of resorting to disrespecting him and misinterpreting his noble warnings to the nation,” it said.

CAN regretted that while the likes of Obasanjo are treated as honourable statesmen and institutions in developed nations like the United States and the United Kingdom, they are antagonised and vilified at home. “This is not only unfortunate but exposes us as a people that have lost their moral values. Obasanjo sacrificed a lot for this nation in order to make it one and great! He deserves respect and his pronouncements should be treated with caution.

The truth is evident for those who care to see the danger of Obasanjo’s warning except those who are either part of the agenda or are just being mischievous. When the perceived genocide started in Southern Kaduna, how many of the suspected herdsmen involved in the barbaric attacks were arrested by the security men? How many of them have been detained and are being prosecuted?” CAN stated.

On the order to mop up legally held guns, CAN said that the federal government must be seen to be acting in the interest of the generality of Nigerians and not protecting or preserving a section of the country. CAN accused the relevant security agencies of not doing enough to deal with the alleged killings and kidnappings by bandits and herdsmen, adding it smacks of bias on the part of federal government to appear to be defending and advocating for a group being accused of spearheading the atrocious incidents.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 2ND JUNE.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIS GRACE

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery (1 Timothy 4:14).

In the scripture above, the Apostle Paul gave an important admonition to young Timothy, to take advantage of the grace of God. He emphasised the same thought in 2 Timothy 2:1, saying, “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

When God gives you a responsibility, He gives you the grace to accomplish the task. To neglect that grace or not to know that you have it could render your work ineffective. For example, if you’re called of God to be a pastor, there’s the grace for that office; it’s the pastoral grace. Once you recognise and acknowledge that you’re called into that office and graced for it as well, it’ll produce results for the glory of Christ, as you walk in that light.

Some people struggle and experience frustrations in ministry because they’re working and walking outside of God’s grace. Working with the Lord and for the Lord is a walk in glory when you lean on His grace to pilot you.

If you’re a pastor, an evangelist, cell leader or you lead in whatever capacity in the Church, and you’ve been experiencing difficulties carrying out that ministry, it’s time to take advantage of His grace. The gifts of God and the power of God work by the principle of recognition and proclamation (Philemon 1:6). Recognise that His grace is on you to function in that office, and keep proclaiming accordingly. This is also true for everyone who is called of God to fulfil any specific or significant role in the Kingdom.

Even now, activate the grace and power of God in your life. Affirm in faith, “I’m graced to excel and fulfil my destiny in Christ. I’m sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency, and His superabundant grace upon my life is sufficient for me in all things. I’m an able minister of the Gospel, because the grace and wisdom of God are at work in me mightily, to carry out the work of the ministry, in the Name of the Lord Jesus”. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your superabundant, overflowing and infinite grace that’s at work in me. I thank you for the advantage this supernatural power of promotion and unending success brings to my life. I live an extraordinary life of excellence, victory, and dominion, and reign as a king in this life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

John 1:16-17 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

#TALKINGSESSION

2ND JUNE.

KINDLY SAY THIS WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the great things you will accomplish through me today because my faith is strong and unwavering. I have overcome the systems of this world; therefore I refuse to be bound by the limitations that exist in the world. My life is upward and forward because I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. My body is your temple and your dwelling place.

I yield every fibre of my body to Your Word, as a living sacrifice, so that I might bring glory to your Name. No sickness shall reign in my body and sin shall not lord it over me, because I belong to you. Thank you for this great privilege, in Jesus Name. Amen.

God bless you

I Was Approached To Join In Destroying Tinubu — El-Rufai

Quote:By Muhammad Sabiu

Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, on Friday, claimed that some unnamed people asked him to join in a plot to destroy All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Governor el-Rufai stated this while he was playing host to 121 members-elect of the House of Representatives who were on a consultation tour of the North West on Friday at the Government House in Kaduna.

The governor was invited to deliver a lecture in Lagos last month on godfatherism, where he said that he had an answer to godfatherism as he had retired four godfathers in Kaduna.

According to him, during the last election only 1 million registered voters came out to vote in Lagos out of the 5 million voters, so he asked why did the remaining voters refused to come out, pointing out, if he is the governor of Lagos he will out on those who did not come out to vote to defeat the godfathers in Lagos apparently referring to Tinubu.

However, el-Rufai said it was “a generic statement”, adding that he had a template that was used to retire some godfathers in Kaduna State.

He said: “That was not an attack on Asiwaju, it was a generic statement, but the whole thing took a media frenzy because to some people, Asiwaju is a meal ticket.

“Let me tell you, because of that, some people started confessing to me that Asiwaju should be dealt with.

“They said Asiwaju wants to finish you, he has been abusing you, we should finish him by finishing his man, Femi Gbajabiamila.”

However, contrary to insinuations in some quarters, el-Rufai had disclosed that Femi Gbajabiamila was President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice for the Speakership position of the 9th House of Representatives.

“I told them that this is not about Asiwaju but President Buhari and I will fight it with the last drop my blood. I told them to change their mind.

“I went to Asiwaju and told him that we will do what we can to make this project a success.”

Posted by: Edoman - 06-01-2019, 11:40 PM - No Replies

Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, has challenged security agencies to quickly end banditry and other insecurity challenges in parts of the country.

Mrs Buhari who made the call on Saturday in Katsina while distributing relief materials to over 25,000 victims of bandits attacks, said it was necessary to degrade the criminals before they end the civil population.

“The security agents should either assist to take action or allow the situation continue until bandits finished killing our people,” she said.

Mrs Buhari said that all well meaning Nigerians should talk on things that were going wrong in the country, so as to elicit necessary action.

“We are not supposed to be here giving rice, milk and others items to victims of an incident during Ramadan period.

“We should not keep silent while things are happening, thinking that if something happens today it will not happen tomorrow,

“What happened today, will happen tomorrow, it will also happen next tomorrow if we keep silent.

“It is compulsory to speak the truth, it is not proper for us to give highest number of votes during the general elections and allow bandits continue killing people and keep quiet.

“We must speak on whatever is going wrong in the country,” she said.

Mrs Buhari said that she and wives of the former governors of Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom (Sen. Godswill Akpabio), were among those who donated the relief materials to the victims.

Earlier, the District Head of Katsina, Aminu Abdulmumini, thanked the President’s wife for the gesture.

He called on the government to intensify efforts toward addressing the menace.

“These people need assistance, but they want the government to address the situation to enable them continue with their normal life.

“Almost on daily basis, we hear sound of Nigerian Air Force fighter jets, yet, bandits are killing people, we don’t know what is happening,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that items distributed by Mrs Buhari included rice, milk, sugar and clothes among others to no fewer than 25,988 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The IDPs were from Batsari, Kurfi, Faskari, Danmusa, Jibia, Safana, Kankara local government areas among others.

Breaking: United States now demands all visa applicants to provide their social media usernames

The U.S. now wants to know the social-media user names of people applying for visas as part of stepped up screening of foreign visitors and immigrants.

The change, which was first announced last year and taking effect this month, follows on a 2017 order by President Donald Trump requiring heightened vetting for visa applicants, according to a State Department official.

An estimated 14 million travelers and 710,000 immigrants to the U.S. each year will be affected by the changes, according to notes in the Federal Register. The official said national security is the top priority and every would-be traveler or immigrant already faced screening, including requirements to list their travel history, family member information, and previous addresses.

The American Civil Liberties Union had opposed the proposal, arguing the questions would create "an environment ripe for profiling and discrimination."

EFCC demands Naira Marley's transaction history from Mastercard and Visa

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has written Visa Inc. and Mastercard Inc. to furnish it with details on credit cards used by musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

The commission said the cards recovered from the artiste during his arrest were used for alleged identity theft and credit card fraud. According to court documents obtained by Punch, the EFCC’s letters to Visa and Mastercard – titled, ‘Investigation Activities’ – were dated May 13, 2019, three days after it arrested Naira Marley.

Quote:The letters were signed by the Zonal Head, EFCC, Lagos, Dein Whyte.  “The commission is investigating a case of identity theft and electronic cards-related fraud in which the listed card information were recovered during investigation,” EFCC’s letter to Visa and Mastercard partly read.
In the letter to Visa, the commission asked the company to provide information about the last five transactions on each of three Visa cards recovered from Naira Marley. The first card with number 4921819410257431 was issued by Lloyds Bank Plc and bears the name Timea Fedorne Tatar.  The second card with number 4539782440624281 was issued by Barclays Bank Plc and bears the name Nicole Louise Maylon, while the third card with number 4757147207869807 was issued by Santander UK Plc and bears the name Sharon Broad.

Likewise, in the EFCC’s letter to Mastercard, the commission asked the company to furnish it with information about the last five transactions on a Mastercard card recovered from the musician.  The card with number 5354631405139323 was issued by Prepay Technologies Ltd and bears the name Linh H. Mendez Rojas.

Naira Marley was arrested on May 10 at 9 Gbangbala Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, together with Omomniyi Temidayo (aka Zlatan Ibile) and three others for alleged advance fee fraud.  Following his arrest, the anti-graft agency filed an 11-count against Naira Marley. The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court.

The artiste was later arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on May 20, 2019.  Following his arraignment, Justice Oweibo ordered that Naira Marley be remanded in the prison custody until May 30 to take the bail application filed by the defendant’s counsel, Taiwo Oreagba.

Management shuts down Osun State Polytechnic indefinitely after students burn down the campus medical center

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has closed down the institution indefinitely over the protest of students which led to the destruction of some property at the school’s medical centre.

It was reported that an HND 1 student of Applied Science identified as Aminu Sheu fainted yesterday afternoon soon after he finished his examination. He was reportedly rushed to the school medical centre at about 3:40pm but the staff on duty allegedly told those who brought him to the clinic that the clinic had closed for the day.

Before they could locate a nearest hospital, the student died. The death of the student brought out the students on Saturday morning to protest the manner at which the school’s clinic handled the matter. In the course of the protest, it was alleged that the clinic property was destroyed, some documents and vehicles parked at the clinic premises were set ablaze.

In a statement by the Media Relations Officer of the school, Tope Abiola on behalf of the school’s registrar, Barrister B. M. Salawu, the institution urged all students to vacate the school premises with immediate effect.

Quote:The statement reads,”This is to inform the general public that Osun State Polytechnic Iree has been closed down. As a result of this, all students are to vacate the school premises with immediate effect.”

The deceased has been put to rest last night according to Islamic rites.

Amnesty International seeks the abolition of death penalty in Nigeria

Global human rights group, Amnesty International has launched an eight point human rights agenda, asking the Federal and State Governments to urgently implement recommendations from previous reports about human rights violations in Nigeria.

Amnesty International also asked for an abolition of death sentence and as well an end to torture as a means of extracting information from suspects during interrogations.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, the country director of the human rights organization, Osai Ojigho maintained that both the Federal and State Governments need to do more to address cases of human rights abuses, adding that the new political dispensation provides politicians another opportunity.

Over the years, Amnesty International has documented reports about human rights abuses across Nigeria. Some of those reports are often very critical about the operations of government agencies especially the police and the Nigeria military. At the news conference in Abuja, the human rights organization did not release a new report, but proposed eight point human rights agenda for the new political dispensation in Nigeria.

The organization said it wants government to end violence against women and girls, stop torture and abolish death penalty.  In line with the rights group’s request, many agree that the issue of torture as a means of extracting information from suspects should be abolished, however, many others disagree with the human rights organization on their quest to abolish the death penalty.

Although many countries around the world have abolished capital punishment, death penalty is still practiced in some countries including China, the United States, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

My husband had sex with a mentally deranged woman' - Divorce seeking wife tells court

Amaka Nwafor, a 36-year-old divorce-seeking wife has told an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court that her husband, Friday Nwafor, was having sexual relations with a mentally deranged woman he helped to seek deliverance.

Amaka, a resident of Oke-Bola in Ado-Ekiti, said the lady confessed to her after she got healed of her ailment that she was sleeping with her husband. The woman also told the court during its proceedings that her husband usually accused her of returning from her man friend’s house.

The mother of four, who confessed to having a man friend, added that her husband’s lack of care pushed her into adultery. Amaka who urged the court to dissolve her 14-yeard-old marriage to 47-year-old Friday, added that her husband had threatened her life severally and promises to hire thugs for N5,000 to kill her.

The respondent, a resident of No. 8, Iremo Street, in Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, debunked all the allegations raised by his wife, describing them as fabricated. Friday described his wife as an adulterous woman, who always leave his house to sleep in another man’s house for several days.  The respondent, however, gave his consent to his wife’s call for separation.

The President of the Court, Olayinka Akomolede dissolved the marriage on the grounds of constant fighting and beating, public disgrace, threats to life, and lack of regard for the wife’s family by the respondent.

Akomolede, in her judgment, also observed that the marriage had broken down irretrievably.  She ruled that the custody of the four children produced by the union should be awarded to the petitioner. She also ruled that the respondent should be paying N2,000 as the monthly feeding allowance on each of the children. The court president granted access to the respondent to see his children.

Quote:The war on women was brought into my bedroom on Friday night when my 21-year old daughter, Temisan was arrested by the Police at the check-point by the City Capitol hotel in Abuja at 23.23h for possession of old Nigerian currencies - one twenty naira (N20.00) and fifty naira (N50.00). That was three minutes after she called me she was on her way home and had shared her Taxify trip status with me.

She had gone for dinner with her friends at the Ivory Place in Wuse 2 and was on her way back home when the Police team of four stopped the car she was riding in, asked her to come down and started searching her handbag. When they could not find any contraband in her bag, they pulled her wallet apart and found the old bills.

Thank God that she had the presence of mind to call me immediately they asked her to come down from the car and started searching her bag. They asked her to stand by the roadside and dismissed her Taxify ride. Then she said they were taking her 'somewhere' and she will know her offence. So she started shouting that her mum wanted to speak with them. Then I heard the policeman say 'stupid girl, who is taking your phone? So reluctantly he took the phone and I introduced myself as her mum and requested to know what they were charging her for.

That was when Officer Nnaman (I think that was what I read on his tag) told me 'we found old currency in her bag so we are taking her to the station'. When I asked where exactly that was, he could not tell me any particular location. All he said was 'well, we are still at City Capitol hotel for now but we will soon go'. When he said that, I saw flashes of the manifestations of the war on Nigerian women: women arrested on trumped up charges and raped in custody, commercial sex workers arrested for the sexual pleasure of the Police and detained for days,

I saw women who were killed for trying to resist their Police abductors and labelled armed robbers or girlfriends of criminals, accused of illegal possession of hard drugs (which they would have planted on their victims), and so on and so forth. I told God that Temisan should not be added to the statistics and quickly threw a boubou on my night gown, and raced out to save my daughter! In the car, I called a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) friend of mine and explained the situation to him. He confirmed that wasn't a criminal offence and asked me to call him when I got to where she was being detained.

It took less than 10 minutes to get to her but the car couldn't move fast enough for me! We were like a minute from her when she called again that they said 'someone' was taking her 'somewhere'. I told her not to move since I was already seeing her silhouette.

When I saw my daughter, my heart sank. Whoever saw her where she stood by the hotel would have said she was soliciting. Nobody would have imagined that her journey did not originate from that location or that her Taxify driver was dismissed by the Nigerian Police Officers on duty! She was visibly shaken and traumatised but she was composed. I held her tight and asked for the oic. He repeated her offence and showed me the two bills in the photo as evidence. I requested to know if that was an offence and he answered in the affirmative. I called the DCP and handed the phone to officer Nnama.

The spoke and all I could hear was 'yes sir, yes sir, yes sir'. When he handed the phone back to me, he was looking like a deflated balloon. the DCP apologised profusely on behalf of the Force. Then we were free to go home.
In the car I couldn't stop imagining what could have happened to my daughter and the lies the Police would have told if anything untoward had happened to her. I could not bring myself to imagine how that would have changed the lives of every member of the family. I wondered how the evening would have ended if I did not have a DCP on speed dial.
It did not matter that she carried her NYSC ID card or her valid Driver's license or her Voter's Card in her wallet - documents that would have shown that she is a responsible, law abiding citizen.

I wondered what could have happened to her if I had been out of town or if I did not live here in Abuja with her. I kept wondering why she decided to ride in her friend's car instead of taking her sister's car as planned.

I had a feeling she was going to have a run-in with the Police when she left me in the living room and I had told her the routes to avoid when driving back home because of Police harassment on Nigerian women. When I realised she didn't take her car, I called to ask how she was getting home and she said she would take a Taxify. I was uncomfortable and asked her to share her trip status with me the moment she got in the car. I also started praying for her safety as I monitored the trip.
We got home just before midnight.
I am THANKFUL. God loves us and I know it. I feel it every waking moment!

I am also ANGRY that we have a President that allows the war on Nigerian women to go on and refuses to say a word. I am angry at the innocent women whose lives have been taken or ruined due to poor leadership and virtuous followership. I am angry that all the gains made by women previously have been rolled back by a misogynistic leadership who just got re-elected for yet another term.

Nigeria belongs to all of us and nobody can run me out of town. I have joined other Nigerians to decry the war on women in the past few months but now the battle just got PERSONAL. The battle line has been drawn!

Human right activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Mike Ozekhome has, in strong words, attacked the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He scored the administration low in the area of security, economy and fundamental rights abuses.
Ozekhome said this in a statement titled “Assessment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 4 years of governance.”

He ranked Buhari’s first four years as worst since the “amalgamation of Southern and Northern Nigeria by Lord Laggard on 1st January 1914.”

The statement reads: “I most honestly and patriotically describe the last four years of the President Muhammadu Buhari government as quite uneventful, below average, colourless, clueless, vindictive, selective, exclusionary, non nationalistic, non pan-Nigerian, haemorraging economically and highly sectional, cronystic and pre-bendaslistic.

“In terms of security, its performance is below par, since whatever gain he would have made in the much-trumpeted degradation of Boko Haram (you and I know this is merely theoretical as the sect is more deadly today than ever before) has been replaced with a more potent escalation of herdsmen insurgency and unrestrained banditry.

“Nigeria has been turned into a gruesome killing field by rampaging gun-wielding bandits of different genre. The economy is in tatters and at the lowest ebb. Hunger, squalor, ignorance, despondency, abject penury, corruption, hopelessness and haplessness have been enthroned as fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy.

“Never before since the forcible and unnegotiated amalgamation of Southern and Northern Nigeria by Lord Luggard on 1st January 1914, has Nigeria witnessed such nightmare of poor governance.

“The people have been reduced to the ‘living dead’ or ‘walking corpses’ (courtesy, Ayo Kwei Armah, in his epic.’ The Beautiful Ones are not yet born)”
“Rule of Law has been replaced with rule of might and of the thumb. Fundamental rights of citizens are wantonly breached.

“Disobedience to valid court orders has become a norm. Corruption is on the ascendancy, rising geometrically where it used to be antithetical.

“Only a tiny cabalistic few have unrestrained access to the national treasury. Yet, when traumatised citizens complain, they are dismissed with a wave of the hand as ‘wailing wailers.’

“Budgets are padded, even disappear. There is hardly any form of accountability and transparency in governance as the government is run in a most opaque manner, like the nocturnal activities of witches and wizards in a coven.”

Constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome has revealed real reason behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s executive order on withdrawal of licenced guns of Nigerians.
According to the senior lawyer, the President’s order was aimed at curtailing the self-determination aspiration of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Niger Delta militants.

Ozekhome, however, noted that the order exposes innocent Nigerians to the murderous activities of herdsmen, kidnappers and Boko Haram terrorists.
This was contained in a statement he entitled ‘President Muhamnadu Buhari’s Executive Order Withdrawing Gun Licences: The Legal and Social Consequences.’

Ozekhome pointed out that “Ordinarily, one would have readily applauded President Muhammadu for signing an Executive Order banning possession of guns, having regard to the unbridled proliferation and possession of small and medium scale politically motivated and banditorily-induced arms currently in circulation.

“However, Buhari’s sectionalistic perception of governance from the opaque prism of ethnicity and religious nuances do not give one such euphoric comfort of nationalistically induced decisions.

“It seems to me a panicky measure meant to forestall the threats by Niger Delta militants to declare their Republic by 1st of June, and also for the now historic struggle by IPOB for self-determination.

“Whatever be his reasons, the president and his handlers appeared to have lost the larger picture of the citizens’ rights to life and self-defence. “Section 33 of the 1999 Constitution provides for the right to life.

“Section 258 of the Criminal Code which operates in the Southern part of Nigeria and sections 59-60 of the Penal Code that operates in the North, all guarantee the right to self defence and the defence of one’s property.

“What the Executive Order has unwittingly done is to leave honest and innocent Nigerians most vulnerable to the unrestrained murderous and blood-letting activities of marauders, herdsmen, Terrorists, armed robbers and kidnappers.

“People may now decide to possess these arms illegally and undercover as guerrilla tactics, since even a legitimate licence cannot guarantee same, after thorough screening by law enforcement agencies.
“After all, self-preservation is the first law of nature.
“The Executive order is also gravely flawed in the sense that those known and notorious to illegally possess these same arms, like herdsmen, were not even named at all.

“There now appears to be two sets of laws for Nigerians.
“Recall that the same government had incredibly set up a special radio network station for this over pampered set of ‘superior Nigerians.’

“No thought was given to the equally illiterate Nigerians of those communities whose wives are daily raped in their homes, children murdered in cold blood, farmlands invaded, crops eaten and such farms then set ablaze.

”I always wonder who advises Mr President. But as Harry Truman once declared: ‘buck stops here’.”

MTN pays final N55bn to complete N330bn NCC fine

May 31

Facebook643TwitterTel

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (MTN), has paid the sixth and final instalment of N55 billion to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
This completes MTN’s payment of the N330 billion negotiated settlement agreed between the NCC and the company in 2016.

According to Tobechukwu Okigbo, MTN’s chief corporate relations officer, the successful resolution of the fine was the outcome of active collaboration between the NCC and MTN.

“We are very pleased to have completed the payment of the N330 billion negotiated settlement with the NCC,” he said.

“We are particularly gratified to be in a position to have fully met the terms of the settlement within the agreed timeframes.

“I would like to thank the NCC for their constructive and collaborative approach to this issue, and believe that we emerge from it with a stronger relationship, focused on ensuring maximum value is delivered to our people, from a strong and growing telecoms sector.”

In October 2015, the regulator slammed MTN a fine of N1.04 trillion following failure to cut off five million unregistered subscribers after a deadline set by NCC, in agreement with major telcos in the country.
The fine was eventually reduced to N330 billion with a condition that MTN will list on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) — a condition that has now been met by the telco.

In a statement last week, NCC disclosed that MTN had paid N275 billion and had N55 billion to go, with nine days left on the clock.

“Following a negotiated reduction of the N1.04 trillion fine on MTN Nigeria to N330 billion and in line with the staggered payment arrangement, MTN has, so far, paid N275 billion to the Federal Government,” NCC had said.

“What this means, according to the staggered arrangement, is that May 31, 2019 would be the deadline for the telecoms company to pay the sixth and final tranche of the balance of N55 billion.”

As at the time this report was filed, the NCC had not yet acknowledged to the press, the receipt of the final payment.

Despite the tough dressing rules - oyedepo's children are definitely some of the best dressed folks in the Nigerian University System.

While the rules are no longer as draconian as a decade ago, the university still retains a strict dress code policy for classes and chapel services.

For instance jeans is still an abomination you would never get to see anywhere in the school except the postgraduate residence - but the students find ways to still make sense of the little options available.

Many other church universities created after CU have modelled their dress code to that of CU.

Ayo Adebanjo: No Igbo President, No Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-01-2019, 10:42 AM - No Replies

Quote:Elder statesman, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has come hard on politicians from other regions angling to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

In this interview with VINCENT KALU, the Afenifere leader, said for peace to reign in Nigeria, the Southeast should produce the next president of the country. According to him, unless the nation goes back to true federalism, Nigeria is headed towards a breakup.

What is your view on the allegation made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that plans were underway to ‘Fulanise’ and ‘Islamise’ Nigeria and West Africa?

I have been talking about it before, and some people said that I was talking non- sense. When he was in power, he encouraged them to have Sharia. I have been saying it, and I even accused the vice president that, as a pastor, he is serving a government that is Islamising the country, and he came out to say that it was not true, and that the government wasn’t Islamising the country.

All over the country, we have been on it for a long time. When they started around Southern Kaduna, we made the point; there were Christian elements. When they murdered about 800 Christians there on Christmas day, what did the authorities do about it? The vice president was sent there at that time, as the president wasn’t around, and he ordered the military to go there to prevent another attack, but the following day they were attacked again and villages were wiped out, what happened? Not a single arrest was made.

Then they went down to Agatu and other places, and there have been several church- es being burnt in northern Nigeria. So, why are they denying the obvious? Why are we denying the obvious in Nigeria, and just pretending?

Are all these things happening by accident? They kidnapped Catholic bishops, they kidnapped ministers, kidnapped professors, etc. You pressmen, you published all these things, what other evidence do you want?

Somebody is not beefing up security after several harms have been done, where does he want to rule as commander-in-chief? When we say they are Fulani herdsmen, he says they are outsiders. If they are outsiders, does it mean that you cannot protect us from outside invasion, what is your army for? Are you not the commander-in-chief?; Are you not there to protect lives and property? Soldiers, you draft them for external aggression, while police for internal aggression. What has happened to all these?

Few years ago, the international body declared these Fulani herdsmen as terrorists, but you say no.

Obasanjo said the obvious; he just joined some of us who have been calling attention to it. He is a latecomer to the call. Obasanjo is a latecomer in arousing the country on this dangerous trend; I have been talking about it before and he didn’t lend his voice, or was he waiting till all the Christians are wiped off before he would talk?

Look at the problem of the country today; up till now, all the security chiefs are still in place, and they have proved themselves to be most inefficient. His security chiefs are efficient when it comes to attacking the opposition. We are talking about security now, but their spokesman, Lai Mohammed is talking about having evidence that the opposition and Atiku want to disrupt the government.

Their security is never efficient in detect- ing outsiders who are coming to kill people; their security is never efficient in preventing herdsmen from killing people, wiping out villages, raping women and abducting people. The security of Buhari and government is not all that efficient, but when it comes to detecting people who want to topple the government, then they are most efficient; they are just pretending, they are preparing the ground to arrest opposition members on flimsy reasons.

They are talking of people wanting to disrupt the government, is that not a diversion when the country is facing serious se- curity problem? You have not come up with programmes to solve the security problem, but you are talking of the government being disturbed. Why will it not be disturbed when you are not doing your work?

What the people now say about the government is that it is incompetent. The churches, everybody is complaining about the insecurity and you don’t come out with possible programme, telling the people and giving them assurance, you are only talking about those who want to topple you. Do you see how irresponsible and insensitive they are? It is very unfortunate. Your security men are so efficient that they have evidence of the people who want to topple you, but they don’t have evidence of the killing, rap- ing and abduction of people in all parts of the country. The security officers are so inefficient, and are still there. May God save Nigeria.

The North is insisting on keeping pow- er in 2023, what is your view?

They don’t want to rule, they want to dominate. It is not a question of democracy; Buhari by birth is a feudalist and by train- ing is a dictator, and I have given evidence of that before he was voted in 2015. When I gave all the evidence for his dictatorial tendencies that he is not a democrat, and he doesn’t obey the rule of law, I was accused then of whipping up sentiments against him when he was a military officer, but now, it doesn’t follow because he is a civilian. How far I have been proved right or wrong, the rest is history.

I know this Buhari, there is no quarrel between him and I, and I have repeated all over again that Afenifere, where I belonged, campaigned for him in 2011, and he has not refuted it. It was on the ground that he was going to restructure the country to true federalism. I say it publicly, let him deny this, by then Pastor Tunde Bakare was his run- ning mate.

Even the APC he is in now, they are so deceitful, they talked about restructuring and when they came to power they didn’t believe in it and claimed not to know the meaning or understand it. They set up El- Rufai committee on restructuring and the report was produced and they set it aside.

What are you telling me? This is why I said he cannot be trusted, and now he is talking about the type of true federalism, what type of talk is that when Jonathan handed over to him the 2014 confab report? Is it not there, and he said he would not touch it even with a long stick.

I was coming to this. When Buhari mentioned true federalism as the way to go, is it in line with your aspiration?

I don’t believe him until he puts it into action. The federalism we know is the one known all over the world, as America, Australia and others practice it. Its dictates and the principles are the same. It is prac- ticed according to the locality of the nation whether it is ten states, five states, etc.

When we tell people that we should go back to the Independence Constitution, they ask, are we going back to the three or four regions? No, the principle there is the type that Zik, Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello had at that time, which made Awolowo to be able to give free education. If it is going to be on three, four or 10 states that is another matter.

Go back to the constitution we had at independence. Go back to history, when there was crisis, when Chief Anthony Enahoro moved for self-government, Northern leaders led by Sardauna said they were not ready to go. The West withdrew and said without self-government, they were not going to take part. The colonial masters invit- ed the leaders to come for a meeting and the government then collapsed. This is a matter of history. That is when they accepted federalism and they came back to create pre- miership in all the regions with autonomy. Every region at that time had the same constitution. Under that constitution, they had embassies abroad. The Western Nigeria embassy in London was where I got mar- ried in 1960. That is the constitution we had until 1966, when the military imposed this constitution on us. This is nonsense. The constitution we have was not subjected to any referendum, and it doesn’t take a long way to do it. Take the 2014 constitution, and if there is anything you object about it, take it out and if there is anything you want, put it in and subject it to referendum.

They resort to subterfuge that there is constitution, which constitution? You want to tie us down with the constitution we have jettisoned that is not ours?

Can’t the man for once be serious about Nigeria? If he is serious about peace, if he is serious about keeping this country together without violence, though he just wants to keep us together by force, he should go immediately to restructure the country on true federalism then there will be peace, and he would go down in history as the maker of the new Nigeria, but if he continues like this, he is the destroyer of Nigeria.

The more Buhari and his party hesitate to create true federalism immediately, the more they go down as destroyers of Nigeria.

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, in an interview recently asked the Southeast to forget about 2023 presidency, what is your position on this?

This is just the propaganda we are talking about. The Southwest has said it is for them, and we have been hearing things like this long ago.

First, the constitution, before any other thing must be revisited, and if the president doesn’t do that, this country will break up. Let us get constitution first, not to continue with this injustice.

Why is IPOB saying they want to break away? Because they said they were not included.

The West has been president, the South-South has been president and the North has been president, while the Southeast has not, but you want peace.

I don’t believe any region or any section is to be given the presidency on sufferance; you are not doing anybody any favour, the constitution we are asking for is for anybody to become president constitutionally as applied, not out of sufferance or favour that you vote for me. Is that why and how we were amalgamated, is that the condition for our unity? Absolute nonsense and deceit!

Those of them they are deceiving are deceiving themselves. The North doesn’t want to leave power. There are sensible people in the North, even among the Fulani. We are talking about unity, peace in the country, and you are talking of people wanting to disturb you, is that the immediate thing, while the economy is going down? There is no progress until the constitution is rectified. Senator Sola Adeyeye came down with the problem of this constitution and told them that until we change it, there can be no peace and there can be no progress. What is the problem? If there is any change this country needs now it is the change of this nebulous constitution that is imposed on us by the military.

Assuming the presidency comes to Southwest, between Tinubu and Osin- bajo, who would you consider?

I don’t buy into this propaganda. It is dishonest and invidious for anybody to be talking of the presidency coming to the Southwest, then you are not serious about keeping the country together. For unity, for peace and equity how would you exclude, Southeast, a part of the country from the highest position of the country, as if it is not a part of the country?

Are we dominating or overruling them? We have to be together in peace and in unity. All those who are gathering because they want to be president in 2023 are cheats and dishonest people, and they are deceiv- ing themselves by trying to keep us to be disunited, so that they come to rule again, and say because we don’t agree. I don’t beg anybody to give me presidency, but give me the right constitution.

It will be stupid of any Easterner to be thinking of joining Buhari or APC so that they can be president, or any Westerner for that matter to be stupid and foolish enough to be welcoming the idea he can be president in 2023. Arrant nonsense. That won’t be fair. How can you deny the presidency to a unit of the federation when we are equal partners? Is there sense in that? That is the question we should ask ourselves if we are honest in this country.

That is why I say, let us have a constitution, which will guide us. We don’t want to be ruled by the favour of a section of the country, that is, you are my friend, and I give you your right. It will not happen, but if it comes to that, everybody will go to his father’s land. There is no doubt about that. We can’t be forced together and be ruling the units of the horse as the rider; they are the rider and we are the horse. No unit will accept it.

Former Chairman, Governing Council of Kwara State Polytechnic sentenced to 12 years in prison with hard labour for collecting and giving bribe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured 12 years jail term for both Dr. Saad Alanamu, a former Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, and Salman Sulaiman, the Chief Executive Director of Namylas Nig. Ltd, for collecting and giving a bribe respectively.

The convicts had earlier been arraigned before Honourable Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar of Kwara State High Court 9 sitting in Ilorin on an 8-count charge for bribery.

The offences contravened sections 8 (1) (a), 9 (1) (a), 10 (a) (i), 18 (b), 19 and 22 (1) (a) (i) and punishable under sections 8 (1) (a) (ii), 9 (1) (b), 10 (a) (ii), 18 (d), 19, and 22 (6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 respectively. They had pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against them.

Dr. Alanamu who was nominated into the Board of ICPC in 2017 but was later dropped on an allegation of corruption which the Commission was investigating, was charged for collecting N5,000,000:0 million bribe from a contractor friend of his as kickback for the award of a contract.

Sulaiman, on the other hand, was accused of bribing a government official when he paid the said sum of money into Alanamu’s Guaranty Trust Bank account as a reward for the award of contract to his company.

Counsel to ICPC had averred that Namylas Nig. Ltd had submitted falsified and doctored documents during the bidding process.

The court was also informed of how Alanamu ensured that the contract for the construction and furnishing of an auditorium in Kwara State Polytechnic, at the cost of N182,369,625:00, was awarded to a company belonging to his friend when it was not qualified to execute the contract.

The prosecution, having established very strong evidence of collusion, bid rigging and corrupt practices against the accused, urged the court to mete out appropriate sanctions to them.

Having considered the totality of evidence adduced by the prosecution in the course of the trial, and recognizing that it had discharged the burden of proof placed upon it by law beyond reasonable doubt, the trial judge in his ruling, found Dr. Alanamu guilty and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment on counts 2 and 3, and five years with hard labour on counts 1, 4, and 5, without an option of fine.

He was also ordered to pay the sum of N25 million pursuant to Section 20 of the ICPC law which states: “Without prejudice to any sentence of imprisonment imposed under this Act, a Public Officer or other person found guilty of soliciting, offering or receiving gratification shall forfeit the gratification and pay a fine of not less than five times the sum of the value of the gratification which is the subject-matter of the offence…”

Justice Abdulgafar further found Sulaiman guilty on counts 5 and 6, and sentenced him to five and seven years imprisonment respectively. The third defendant which is the company has been ordered to pay a fine of N1 million.
All the sentences are to run concurrently

How we kidnapped 4 US and Canadian expatriates and killed their orderlies- Suspects

Two members of a notorious kidnapping gang who took part in the 2018 abduction of four American and Canadian expatriates, working in Kaduna State have given details on how they were able to successfully abduct the foreigners during their attack in January 2018.

The suspects identified as Abdulmumin Adamu and Usman Abdulahi, alongside their other fleeing members, had in January 2018, abducted four expatriates along Kwoi-Jere Road in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.  They were two Canadians identified as Nate Vangeest and a woman, Rachel Kelly while the other two who are Americans were identified as John Kirlin and Dean Slocum. The victims had visited Kafanchan and Kaura to inspect an ongoing project, but were ambushed on their way back. The kidnappers killed their military escorts and abducted them. They reportedly demanded a ransom of N100 million from the government before the victims were released.

After much investigations, the Nigeria Police located and stormed the gang’s hideout situated inside a deep forest in Kuiere near Kagarko Local Government area of Kaduna State.

When interrogated, the suspects recounted how they were able to successfully carry out the attack with the aid of an informant that knew the itinery of the victims. The suspects told the police that they were nice to the victims during their stay in their hideout.

One of the suspects, 20-year-old Adamu said he was a farmer before joining the kidnapping business of his former boss, Dogo. Adamu said he abandoned farming and cattle rearing because of the Fulani herdsmen that were forcefully collecting their cows from them. The married father of one, said he turned to kidnapping just to make some money that will enable him take care of his wife and child.

On the kidnap of the expatriates, Adamu alleged that the plan was to kill anyone who dared to stop them.

Quote:“Dogo assembled us to get ready that ‘oyibo’ people are coming. We attacked the expatriates along Jere Road at the Southern Kaduna area of the state and an informant gave us the job. We were nine persons that took part in the attack; five of us were armed with Ak-47 rifles, while four of us were holding sticks. I was holding a stick, while the people who had guns were in front and when the vehicle got to where we were those with guns started firing and they forced the vehicle conveying the expatriates to a stop.
“We killed two policemen, took away their rifles and kidnapped four white people, two of them were Americans, but I don’t know the nationality of the other two. We took them into the bush and trekked all through the night until we got to the camp in Kuiere.  The expatriates spent three days with us in the camp and we fed them with rice and beans and they ate three times daily.
“We also gave them bottled water to drink because they were white people. One of our gang members who understood and speaks English language correctly contacted the people that paid the ransom. I don’t know the amount he demanded, but I suspected the amount was around N100 million, but I don’t know the exact amount that was paid.  I got N5million as my share after the ransom was paid. I bought some cows with my share of the ransom and they are presently with my brother in my village.
“I was arrested after the police burst our camp and I fled to Kano State. I was in Kano State to visit my friend and I didn’t know that the police were on my trail and I was shocked they caught me in my friend’s house.”
He denied killing the police orderlies.
Quote:“I was carrying a stick that day. It was God that saved me that day because those policemen refused to hand over the Oyibo people. They were shooting at us seriously but we were many and heavily armed.  If they were wise, as soon as they saw us, they will abandon the vehicle and run. I was very nice to the Oyibo people and even gave them water to bath. Normally we rape the women but nobody touched her. You can ask her about Adamu, I know she will tell you that I was nice to her'' he said

At least 13 people are dead and and six more hospitalized after disgruntled employee opens fire at Virginia Beach municipal center

A longtime city employee shot and killed 13 people and injured six others after opening fire on Friday afternoon in the public works building, making it the United State's deadliest mass shooting this year.

Police said officers killed the man, whom they did not name, after he fired at them.  One officer was shot during the exchange but was saved by his bulletproof vest, Police Chief James Cervera said during a news conference a couple of hours after the incident in the city's Municipal Center in Princess Anne.

"This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach. The people involved are our friends, co-workers, neighbors and colleagues"  Mayor Bobby Dyer said at a news conference.

The gunfire in Virginia Beach began shortly after 4 p.m. as workers were preparing to leave for the weekend. The shooting occurred in building 2, next to City Hall near the intersection of Nimmo Parkway and Princess Anne Boulevard. The planning, public utilities, public works departments and others are located there.

The shooter on Friday was a current employee of the public utilities department. Megan Banton, an administrative assistant in the public utilities office where the man worked, said her supervisor heard a noise then shouted for everyone to get down.  The supervisor then pulled Banton and others into her office and shoved a desk against the door while Banton called 911.

Friday’s rampage is believed to be the worst mass killing in Virginia Beach’s history. Prior to this week, a shooting on June 30, 1994, at the Witchduck Inn held that distinction: Four people the business owner, two employees and a patron were shot to death at the restaurant.

In the U.S., it is the deadliest attack since the November shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill in California, when 12 people were killed.

Daily Devotional for Saturday 1st June

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 1ST JUNE.

HE’S ACTIVE IN AND THROUGH YOU

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word (Acts 10:44).

Consider what we just read in Acts 10:44; while Peter was yet speaking, the Holy Ghost was “working”; He “fell” on them to whom Peter was speaking. He didn’t wait for Peter to finish, showing that we’re never alone and we can always trust Him to do His part, as we do ours.

In Mark 16:20, after the ascension of the Master, the Bible says the disciples “…went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”

Observe that He was with them, not as a passive observer, but was actively working, confirming their words with signs, wonders and miracles.

Each time you go out to preach the Gospel, be conscious of the Lord’s presence and His power that’s manifested through the preaching of the Word. It makes no difference whether you’re on street-evangelism, or you’re preaching in a bus, in an office, or in a mall, be assured that the Holy Spirit is working with you and through you.

Therefore, be bold to preach the Gospel. Preach Jesus Christ. Preach that He came into the world to save sinners and make them sons of God. Let the unsaved around you know that God isn’t counting their sins against them; rather, He’s made provision for the remission of their sins.

The ministry of the Gospel He’s committed to your trust is a divine one, which you can only fulfil by the power of the Spirit. It doesn’t matter what your efforts are, they’re in vain without Him. That means you can’t do anything of eternal significance without the help of the Holy Spirit. In John 15:5, Jesus emphasized this, saying, “…for without me ye can do nothing.”

Don’t go through life or ministry struggling on your own; work with the Spirit. Discuss your work with Him; if there’re challenges, talk to Him about them and He’ll grant you the wisdom you need to put you over. Trust Him, and there’ll be nothing you can’t do; His power will work through you in a tremendous way.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the fulfilment of the glorious ministry of your Spirit in my life. I’m completely yielded to Him, for He’s the One who works actively in and through me, to fulfil your divine plans and purposes in the earth. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I’m effective and fruitful in every good work, bearing fruits of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Acts 1:8 AMPC But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

Rivers APC Group Joins ‘oshiomhole Must Go’ Crusade
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:PORT HARCOURT – RIVERS Unity House, RUH, an All Progressives Congress, APC, interest group in the state has joined growing calls for removal of Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman of the APC.

RUH Convener, Kingsley Wali, who in Port Harcourt, expressed the body’s dissatisfaction with Oshiomhole’s conduct, alleged that the former Edo state governor was responsible for 96% of the challenges APC faced over the 2019 general elections.

Wali said: “It is natural, in politics, that whenever there are losses, people have to be held accountable. Just like if the party enjoys decent measure of victory, it will obviously point out those who made it possible and then compensate them.

“I have been consistent with the position that Oshiomole is 96 percent responsible for the problems APC had. It boils down to nothing but somebody feeling that he knows everything and no other person is smarter than him.

“I think the reasonable thing to do is for APC as a party to ask Oshiomole to vacate the seat. If we insist on understanding or characterizing the Next Level slogan of APC, the kind of attitude Oshiomhole exhibited cannot be in tandem with the President’s vision on Nigeria.”

“Of what is a party Chairman who doesn’t take any form of criticism; once even if it is one councillor in Karadamuda or Akassa, that says something about him, he replies in the same measure.”

“I worry because where we are heading for might not be too nice. Like Alhaji Shuaibu said, all it take for the PDP to control the National Assembly is two seats or six or seven stubborn APC senators.

“It is a done deal And the same man is there threatening hell fire and brimstone about how APC will not do any business with PDP.
