Pastor Adewuyi Adegoke ‘Kidnaps Self’, Demands N3m From Congregation (photos)

Adewuyi Adegoke (pictured left), a pastor at Methodist Church, Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state, has been arrested by the police for allegedly organising his own kidnap.

TheCable gathered that Adegoke had arranged with one Oluwadare Sunday to demand N3 million ransom from his congregation.

He reportedly went into hiding on Sunday evening while there were reports that he was abducted between Esa-Oke in Osun state and Aramoko-Ekiti in Ekiti.

His purported abductors later contacted the church members to demand the ransom, which they insisted must be paid latest by Thursday to prevent the reverend from being killed.

Detectives, however, intercepted the pastor’s accomplice, Sunday, who came to pick up the ransom at Okeyinmi area of Ado-Ekiti, after which he led them to the hotel where the pastor had been hiding.

Detectives reportedly tracked the suspects through the mobile phone that he was using to make contact with the church members.

Amba Asuquo, commissioner of police in Ekiti, confirmed that the command is investigating the incident but refused to confirm the identities of the suspects.

“Yes there is something close to that, but we are still investigating and will come out with the details later,” he told reporters.

When asked if the reverend was among the suspects in custody, Asuquo said, “I know we have some suspects in custody in connection with the incident but I cannot reveal their identities to you now.”

When the news of the reverend’s kidnap broke, several members of his congregation took to social media to solicit support towards his rescue.

On Facebook, one Awoyemi Matthew wrote: “People of GOD. everywhere. please let us raise prayer altars for this vibrant servant of GOD. REV Adewuyi Adegoke, who was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen recently between Ekiti and Osun state.”
Woman killed by her husband weeks after she shared a post on Facebook advising people to make their marriage work "no matter how hard the situation is"

A woman was strangled to death by her husband weeks after she advised Facebook users to make their relationships work.

Ty'nell Cherry-Lindsey was found unresponsive on the floor of a bedroom closet at her home in the 7300 block Sand Lake Road, Orange County, around 6:45 p.m.  on Monday June 10th. Her husband, Jason Lindsey, 36, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Police responded to the home after a 8-year-old boy made a call and told dispatchers his mother has been strangled. When they arrived, they ushered a child outside and found Jason Lindsey walking out of a bathroom closet.

Investigators said the couple was fighting about allegations of infidelity. Jason Lindsey claimed his wife attacked him with her fingernails and a knife. According to the affidavit, Jason Lindsey said that he was able to wrestle the knife away and started stabbing Tynell Lindsey with one hand and choking her with the other. Investigators said that's when the child walked in and called 911.

Weeks before her death, the mother-of-two took to Facebook to give relationship advice.

She wrote: "One of the hardest decisions you’ll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder. A person that truly loves you will never let you go, no matter how hard the situation is. Remember couples that are meant to be, are the ones who go through everything that is meant to tear them apart, and come out even stronger. ??"

Friends have mourned the deceased and described her as a "beautiful" woman.

DSS arrests three activists who they claim planned to disrupt June 12 celebration in Ibadan

Today, operatives of the Department of the State Security Service stopped a rally of the Yoruba Summit Group scheduled to hold at Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The group, an amalgamation of all sociocultural and self-determination groups in Yorubaland, had converged to discuss insecurity in the South West. The security operatives in about five buses and clad in black uniforms had arrived around 7:00 a.m. and cordoned off the area.

Three people including a sound system operator contracted to provide services at the event were whisked away to the DSS office at Alesinloye headquarter of the service. A public Affairs analyst and state coordinator of Oodua Coalition Against Insurgency and Kidnapping in Yorubaland, and another lady activist simply identified as Princess Oyeronke were among those arrested.

Confirming the arrests, the National Public Relations Officer of the Odua Peoples Congress (New Era), Comrade Adesina Akinpelu decried the development. Akinpelu said, “We got all the necessary approval but we were surprised to see men of the DSS arriving much earlier, even before the coalition members, with the intent to stop the rally.”

He alleged further that DSS was still on the looking for other notable leaders of the coalition for possible arrest and detention.  Akinpelu said the botched rally was tagged “O to Ge’ to commemorate June 12.

Quote:“It was called to address the issue of insecurity in the land and safeguard Yoruba people who are becoming endangered in the land through incessant kidnappings and wanton attacks on their farmlands.
“We don’t want to take laws into our hands and that’s why we called the meeting to bring it to the notice of Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari that aside declaring June 12 Democracy Day, he should also tackle the issue of insecurity in our land.”

5-year-old dies in Uganda as Ebola virus oubreak crosses Congo border

A five-year-old boy has died from Ebola in Uganda, according to health officials.

There's been a deadly outbreak of the Ebola virus in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo. The virus has now spread to Uganda and the child's death is the first in the country.

Officials said the grandmother and younger brother of the deceased also have the disease.

The boy is said to have travelled across the border with his family from DR Congo on Sunday. He was taken to a Ugandan hospital when he began exhibiting symptoms, including vomiting blood, officials said.

More than 2,000 cases of Ebola have been recorded in DR Congo in the last 10 months. Most of these cases ended in death.

SSS begins nationwide crackdown on individuals posting inciting materials on the Internet

On Wednesday, the State Security Service announced a nationwide crackdown on individuals allegedly caught posting inciting materials on the Internet.

The SSS said it had recently observed that some social media users were distorting Nigeria’s history to promote ethnic violence and tip the nation into crisis, a development it said must be urgently reversed through state interference.

SSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said in a statement said that some “unpatriotic” Nigerians have been using social media platforms to make “unguarded public statements and/or use the social media platforms to instil fear in the minds of citizens”.

Quote:“These are reflected in the misleading statements and articles being circulated among unsuspecting members of the public. Such inciting materials oftentimes are designed to make or convey false accusations by one group against the other. They also resort to skewing historical narratives to suit their objective of masterminding ethnic violence in the nation. So far, some of the culprits have been arrested,” Afunanya said.
The SSS said it was “determined to ensure that the tribal chauvinists and mischief makers do not continue to exploit socio-political differences and Internet platforms to threaten the peace and stability of the country.” The service said regional and community elders should not only desist from making “unguarded statements” but also help shut down all ethnically-charged rhetoric by persons in their respective domains.

The SSS vowed to “sustain the apprehension and prosecution of defaulters,” because it would not relent in its quest to prevent crimes and keep Nigeria as an indivisible country.

Unknown gunmen abduct another village head in Katsina State

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Bature Mai’unguwa, the Village Head of Labo in Batsari Local Government Area, by unknown gunmen.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gambo Isa, a superintendent of police, confirmed the abduction to journalists on Wednesday in Katsina. He said that the victim was abducted on Tuesday afternoon while working at his farm at the outskirts of the village, near Rugu forest.

Quote:‘’Operation Puff Adder responded to the distress call, but since it was far inside near Rugu forest, before they could reach, the hoodlums had already fled into the forest.  We are following a lead that may assist us in rescuing him.
‘’The command is calling on communities in the affected areas to always form groups while going to their farms and inform security agents for security backup. We are reminding people of the state government’s directives on the suspension of farming activities around Rugu forest areas.
“Members of the communities are reminded to put security of their lives first before embarking on any activity,’’ he said.
The gunmen invaded the village on motorcycles around 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, shot sporadically to pave way for their operation, abducted the village head, and fled into the forest.
The district head of President Buhari’s community in Daura, Musa Umar, was kidnapped by gunmen on May 1.

FG threatens corrupt lawyers, bankers and brokers with sanction

The Federal Government has said it will henceforth insist on enforcement of sanctions by professional bodies against lawyers, bankers and brokers indicted for corruption.

President Buhari said this in Abuja on Tuesday during the Democracy Day anti-corruption summit titled, ‘Curbing electoral spending: A panacea for public corruption,’ organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He stated that his administration was taking stock of the progress recorded so far by the anti-graft campaign and devising new strategies to address existing challenges.

Buhari explained that the outcome of the process, which had been initiated by the Presidential Advisory Committee and all anti-corruption agencies in the country, would serve as the basis for more effort by his administration to, among other things, strengthen the capacity of the EFCC and other anti-graft bodies.

Quote:The President said, “I am pleased to inform you that this process has already started with the recent interaction by the Presidential Advisory Committee and all anti-corruption agencies in Nigeria.
The outcome of the interaction, among others, shall serve as the basis for a more concerted effort by this administration to close existing legislative loopholes, facilitate collaboration with the judiciary and strengthen the criminal justice system, enforce effective asset declaration by public office holders, ensure sanctions by professional bodies against lawyers, bankers, brokers, public officials, and other individuals facilitating corrupt practices and ensure comprehensive support and protection to whistle-blowers, witnesses and victims of corruption.”
Buhari added that his government would insist on unconditional return of looted assets kept abroad and strengthen international cooperation through information and mutual legal assistance.

June 12: It’s National Tragedy Celebrating Democracy Day Under Buhari – PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-13-2019, 05:59 AM - No Replies

Quote:Abuja – People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday said that it is a national tragedy that the national Democracy Day is being celebrated under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration that has allegedly desecrated all the democratic values and despoiled the electoral processes just to have itself in office.

Greeting Nigerians on democracy day, the party said that President Buhari’s speech clearly shows a disregard for the tenets of democracy as he had no clear commitments or assurances on fundamental issues of constitutionality, rule of law, separation of power, justice, fairness, free speech and rights of citizens, which are the hallmarks of democracy.

PDP, in a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect and redouble their efforts in the collective quest for the re-entrenchment of true democracy and its tenets of rule of law, freedom, tolerance, dialogue, peaceful co-existence, justice and the sanctity of the electoral process.

PDP said: “It is a national tragedy that our Democracy Day is being celebrated under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration that has desecrated all our democratic values and despoiled our electoral processes just to have itself in office.”

The party said that the Buhari Presidency and the APC cannot celebrate Democracy Day when they are still overburdened by the guilt of their questionable presidential electoral victory.

“Mr President also had no regrets for the manipulations, infractions and violence that characterized the 2019 general elections, under his watch, for which the nation now has an unprecedented 766 election petitions, including the highly manipulated Presidential election.

“President Buhari did not express any form of remorse for the barefaced constitutional violations, assault on institutions of democracy, particularly the legislature and the judiciary; human rights violations, assault on the media and the general siege mentality in the polity under his watch.

“It is sad that on a day like this, Mr President dwelt on false performance claims and had no soothing word for millions of compatriots that have been subjected to the worst form of economic misery, that they are now resorting to suicide and slavery mission abroad.

“He also had no words of hope for the victims of escalated insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and bloodletting in various parts of our nation.

“How can this administration superintend over a Democracy Day celebration when it has questions of constitutional violations, electoral manipulations, media clampdown, victimization of opposition, the emasculation of free speech, brutalization, arbitrary arrests and illegal detention, as already detailed in various reports, including those by the United States Department of State.

“It is disheartening that the same electoral manipulation, violations and injustices for which the icon of June 12 Democracy Day, Chief MKO Abiola died, have brazenly taken centre stage under the APC misrule,” PDP said.

Comparing June 12, 1993, and what is obtainable today, the party noted that just like the years past, the citizens are despondent, particularly over the alleged rigging of the February 23, 2019, Presidential election.

Tinubu Asked Abacha To Make Him A Commissioner In Lagos - Kola Abiola
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-13-2019, 05:58 AM - No Replies

Quote:My dad, victim of complex conspiracy – Kola Abiola

Twenty-six years after the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, which was won by Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, his first son and present head of the extended Abiola family, Kola Abiola, has opened up on his father’s struggle to win the election and reclaim his mandate after the results were cancelled.

In this exclusive interview with The Sun team in his Lagos residence, he revealed what transpired behind the scenes before, during and after the annulled election and the role played by different persons and interest groups.

He said, contrary to widely held beliefs, Abiola never nominated anybody into the regime of the late General Sani Abacha, and explained that some of his father’s former allies who chose to serve the late dictator had already decided to be part of his regime and his father could not stop them.

Kola Abiola also denied accusations by some family members who alleged that they were living in penury because he cut off funds meant for them, saying he would soon address those allegations with facts.

June 12 has been recognised as Democracy Day in honour of the election your father won. How does it make you feel when you look back?

For me, it is the end of a long journey. We started this journey in 1991 at the Hilton Hotel after I sat down with my father’s personal assistant back then, Olu Akerele, who was trying to convince me to participate in the election. At the very beginning, I was not involved; I knew what my father was planning, but I just carried on like I didn’t know what was going on because he didn’t tell me directly. As a family, we had an understanding that he would let the Ibrahim Babangida transition programme go before we participate in any election. It was not the case of whether we should go into the contest or not; we wanted the transition to go through before we participated. I guess after a lot of pressure, he then went to Abeokuta to get the form to contest for the election.

Where were you on the night Abiola was arrested? Did you anticipate his arrest?

Yes I did. There was a particular day that we got supposedly credible information that they were going to raid the house and arrest him and the idea was for him to go to the American embassy to take refuge. When I was told about the plan to arrest him, I said, well, he is in his house; let us see what will happen, but my family members felt I wasn’t taking the issue very seriously. They said they wanted him to go to the American embassy and I asked why. I couldn’t convince anybody that it was a set up. So, we got ready for him to go to the embassy and when I saw lots of people around him, I then asked that if we are going to the embassy, why the convoy? I told them to leave him to me that I would personally drive him there.

On our way, I told him that the whole set-up didn’t seem right because if I shot him there, people wouldn’t blame me, they would blame IBB. So, in order not to trivialise the issue, he should come and stay in my house. He agreed and we headed back to Anthony, where I lived, and he spent the night in my house. The following morning, all the papers carried reports that he was at the American embassy and my father told me that I was right that the entire American embassy thing was a set-up.

When the issue of declaring himself president came up, I told him it was not a good idea but that if he insisted, he should make sure that every single person who suggested it to him would all be physically present when the declaration was made. I told him to announce his cabinet and let all of those cabinet members be there with him while he made his declaration. I told him that if they were not willing to do this, it tells us that something is wrong. He said okay, so I went home. The next thing I heard was that he was on his way there; then I knew that there was a problem.

Was he hurt when Kingibe joined Abacha’s government? Did he feel betrayed?

It didn’t surprise him because I had already told him. Knowing what I had known, I met my father in his room and told him to handle the situation right because if he didn’t, we would be the biggest losers. He then asked me what I meant. I pointed out people around him who were already gone; so he wasn’t surprised when it happened.

When my father was arrested after the declaration, I went to see Abacha and I must say that he received me well. He asked me why my father declared himself President; I told him it was not a matter of why, but that the deed had been done already. I asked him what the way forward was and he said if I was able to correct it, that he was willing to let everything go. By correcting things, he meant that I should come out publicly and tell the country that my father made a mistake by declaring himself President, but there was no way I would do that. I had to stand by my dad and that was the beginning of his four-year incarceration.

Your father once said Abacha kept him in an open grave and what was left was to bury him. During that period, what condition was he in?

We never saw him where he was incarcerated in those four years. When we went to visit him, we usually waited at the police headquarters sometimes for two weeks. They usually brought him to the station at old CBN and allowed him to stay with us for an hour or more.

How did you hear the news of his death?

They called us from Abuja collectively but, conveniently, I could not be found. So, other family members went. I indirectly heard that he had died and then I got a call from the Villa confirming it.

Did you see his body?

Yes, I saw it.

It must have been really terrible…

For me as the first son and the head of the family, I needed to be strong. They didn’t beat us and to do otherwise would make it look like we had been defeated. I went in there and saw the body and I asked if we could take him for burial. They told me that we had to go and meet with General Abdulsalami who pleaded that they should be allowed to carry out an autopsy. I initially said no because, as a Muslim, he should be buried immediately. But he pleaded and I later agreed and that was arranged. I had come to terms with it and, emotionally, I was strong because, before then, I had seen the death of my mum who died at 54.

Do you believe he was murdered or do you think he died a natural death?

I think that is very irrelevant, to be honest. If you know my father well enough, he walked with a first aid kit. He knew his body so well and when anything was out of order, he hopped into a plane and demanded to be taken to his doctor. If he walked past a clinic, he would stop and tell you to take his blood pressure. Now, if you lock up such a man for four years without getting him medical attention, you have already killed him. You don’t need to put a gun to his head or poison his tea, which was what he meant when he said Abacha had locked him in a coffin. We all knew he had high blood pressure, so it’s a given that such a person should have had frequent medical attention.

I think, at a point, we were successful in getting him to go for treatment but then his lawyer came and decided to challenge the conditional release that was brokered. I did not see the sense in that. Would you also blame his lawyer for being part of the conspiracy or not? Abacha even said on live TV that he didn’t know what my father’s lawyer was doing but that he certainly wasn’t working for the government. You can go and check the clip.

At a point in time, we heard that you were married to IBB’s daughter. Was it true?

I think they put the cart before the horse; we never got married. I had known her way before politics and, if I wanted to, I would have married her long before the election, but it would not have made any sense because it would have looked like an arranged thing. One day, I was at a function and Baba Ayo Adebanjo accused me of not participating in what they were doing because I was collecting contracts from the government to print election materials. I told him that I was not involved in any contracts but that, even if I was, were the contracts not Nigerian contracts and am I not a Nigerian? His allegations were false. I grew up with his kids in Surulere, so for him to tell me that in front of people was embarrassing.

How many children do you think he had?

You can’t count the number of children one has. There was a lot of uniqueness in MKO; to him, nothing is a mistake. It may look like an excessive thing but, over the years, it turned out well. I have a sister married to a Deltan. I am married to a Deltan. I have a sister married to the Ijebu. I have a brother married to an American. I have a brother married to the Kanuri. I have a brother married to someone from Zimbabwe and, before you know it, we would be presidents all over the world. We don’t joke around.

Has the acrimony in your family been resolved? One of your siblings accused you in the media recently that you are not letting them have the opportunity to run the businesses and that the businesses are in ruins.

I’m glad you brought it up. All these businesses did not start in one day but the government shut everything down in one day. A lot of these businesses were created by the eldest of Abiola’s children; Deji, me and others. My sentiment is totally different from any other kid who was just there spending money. If I was like them, I would have sold everything and nobody would query me but I need to leave a legacy beyond the fact that our father was a philanthropist and a creator of value added wealth. I kept quiet because it is a family issue and my responsibility is not to put the family out there. But it has gotten to a point that something has to be said, not so much because of them but because I now have kids and they are grown up and would also have their own kids and people would ask them questions about what they have been told about their father. I don’t play sentiments at all; so I am going to come forward with facts to show all that they are doing.

Has the debt owed your father been paid?

No it hasn’t.

How much is it now?

If you consider the interest accrued, it should be approximately $400 million and that is from one business alone. We are still in the process of recovering the money. I have cleared the June 12 issue, but I will now face the debt recovery issue squarely in the next four years.

It’s been said that while he was alive, MKO was one of the richest black men in the world, but then you read statements from his family members complaining that they cannot even afford to feed. Is it not a contradiction? Are his assets outside the country still intact?

Let them all go and get busy. Like I said, I would have to address this issue. There were so many things I had to do outside the businesses just to make sure things go on smoothly.

Did he have a will?

Yes, he had a will, which ought to have been executed by the bank, but the bank rejected executing it; so I had to take it on. We are still in the process but in the mean time, we had so many people suing over which will is fake and which is real. They said it was my idea but the truth of the matter is that when the man was alive, those kids were made to take DNA tests. Was I also the one that asked for it? The kids that took the blood test know and their mothers know that their kids took blood tests. Even in his will, he named a particular child from a particular woman, saying the child was not his. How would he have known if he didn’t do a blood test when he was alive? Is that also my making? All the payments to the wives and brothers have been made but when they were collecting the money, they didn’t tell me that it was a fake will. What is left to my mum, I couldn’t even collect because she died before my dad.

Let me ask you an unfair question. Who was your favourite between your parents?

My mum moulded me, but my dad was my favourite. I could tell him anything. He began taking me for board meetings at a very tender age. He will tell me to sit at a corner while the meeting was going on. Whenever he looked at me, he knew exactly what I was thinking and vice versa. It didn’t start with my dad; it started with my grandfather. I was the first grandson on both sides. He was the Balogun of Ojo and a very tough man. He also allowed me to sit at meetings and that was how I learned many things.

What role did Bola Tinubu play in all of these?

At the very beginning, he was part of the Yar’Adua PF group from Jos. He was a senator then, and as far as the group went, we related. The crisis started post-election. When Abacha came, one of the things he wanted to do was to be the administrator for Lagos.

That is Tinubu?

Yes. I am sure you have seen pictures of him and my dad. He was hoping that there would be civilian administrators like we had under IBB but Abacha said no, that he was going to have military administrators. So he (Tinubu) said okay, in that case, can I be a deputy administrator? But Abacha said that there wouldn’t be deputies. Then he wanted the post of a commissioner.

He wanted to be a commissioner?

Yes. Then it was a choice between him and someone very close to Jakande who has passed on now. I can’t remember his name, but because Babagana was already in the government, that guy was picked as commissioner. But really, Senator Tinubu had lost out already.

Was Tinubu very close to MKO?

Yes, he was close enough. He and Adeniyi Adele, a very good guy, were close to my father. In fact, Adeniyi was closer to my father and more dedicated to the process than anyone of them. When my documentary comes out, you will see Tinubu’s take on issues. So once he lost out, automatically, he became a NADECO member and Adeniyi was incarcerated.

Do you think NADECO was actually working for Abiola?

Some were working for him. It is sort of like a pyramid. The bottom is used to feed the top; like a ponzi scheme. The bottom generates all the funds and comes all the way up and then they enjoy the loot. It is exactly the same process. In the process of taking the public sentiments of ‘oh, we want June 12’, they all appeared as if they were supporting MKO.

We heard some of the people the media celebrates today fed fat on the June 12 struggle. Don’t you feel sorry for the media when you read about such people because we really didn’t know what happened behind the scenes?

If you take the Yar’Adua group as an instance, which was the first lesson I learned, you never see their guys in the news. But you see all the PSP people all over the news, yet they could not win in their local governments. The Yar’Adua guys never spoke in the news but they were all very formidable in their own enclaves; they delivered on everything. If they tell you that they have 10 numbers, they will deliver on eight of that 10 for sure. See what happened in Lagos with Sarumi; those were the guys that were holding the horns of the bull. All the other guys were making noise in the media.

Between June 12 and July 7 when he died, which date is more important?

June 12.

Why?

Because it is a national date. That date signifies a lot of things that does not exist today. First, he had a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which meant that religious bigotry is out of the window. We had a South West person

country and people voted for him across ethnic groups. That date will always be relevant in this country as long as Nigeria remains one because it is the day the country came together as one tribe, irrespective of religion or ethnicity. My plea is that under the leadership of President Buhari, that irrespective of where we are coming from, we must come together and stop all the killings and the ethnic division. On June 12, people voted for a man that represented a true detribalised Nigerian. That is the significance of why he got the GCFR, anyway. When I started this process and the Jonathan government felt they could name University of Lagos (UNILAG) after him, I told the government that MKO was not a South Western man. Jonathan missed it because we already had Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Ogun State and we have a stadium there named after him.

Did you deal with Arthur Nzeribe at all?

I did. I mentioned him earlier as part of the governors’ group.

But he wasn’t a governor.

He wasn’t, but he and the late Olusola Saraki were part of the core of the governors’ group. When they went to court and got that adjournment to stop the election, I found a way to get the information across through the system that we were going to lose the election and that was how I truncated their move to stop the election.

From what you have said, we understand that Babangida didn’t want to go

That is my take, or rather, he didn’t know how he would go.

The second point we deduced from what you said is that Abacha played the double game. He promised to help MKO and he believed him.

Absolutely. He also put pressure on Babangida to go.

What role did Diya play as the most senior person from the South West in Abacha’s government? Did you have any interface with him?

I also interviewed him for the documentary to give him the chance to state his own side. When Abacha passed on and he was released from prison, I went and welcomed him and I told him that it was good he went through that process, because if he had stayed with Abacha till he died, he may not have been alive today. Or he may not be able to come back to the South West without being lynched. And he looked at me and said he thought he could come in quietly to Lagos but that he was shocked at the reception he received. It was the imprisonment process that cleansed Diya but God has a way of showing his power. I said what I said from what I know.

Would you consider serving under Buhari?

Honestly, I don’t know. I have a few years to round off the family issues. I am 57 years old now and I don’t want to get to 60 without resolving these issues. I have made a commitment to resolve the issues, including the legitimate outstanding debts owed the family and I only have three years to achieve that.

Soyinka: I Won’t Participate In June 12 Celebrations
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-13-2019, 05:55 AM - No Replies

Wole Soyinka, foremost playwright, says he will not participate in the celebrations of June 12 as Democracy Day.

In honour of MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari had signed into law, the bill to make June 12 replace May 29 as Democracy Day.

In an essay made available to TheCable on Tuesday, Soyinka condemned the conduct of the 2019 elections.

“This year’s recall of an uplifting day in the year 1993 comes up against a background of its most shameful disavowal: the 2019 elections – still under judicial contestation – an event that would be more accurately described as an exercise in body count rather than ballot count,” he said.

“The elections however merely reflected a pattern of savagery and abandonment of human sensibilities that have eaten away the sheerest sense of community in the nation. I have already described it as the final descent into the abyss of human degradation. The recent call – no matter how suspect the motivation –for what amounts to a national discourse on future directions was nothing new.

“A day dedicated to democracy – as a compelling morality of social existence – is merely frivolous unless directed at the recognition of the telling, prevailing features of the last exercise, which throw in question the free, hopefully educated exertion of human choice.”

The Nobel laureate also made it known that his non participation in this year’s Democracy Day was by choice.

“I shall not participate in this year’s June 12 celebrations – from choice. It is part of my training exercises for withdrawing from public space, a resolution that I first half seriously injected into encounters over five years ago. That absence applies, not to the official celebration alone – of which I have never been a part anyway – but to the annual ritual by civic groups, a ritual of both tribute and defiance that has been unflaggingly observed till now,” he said.

Soyinka said Democracy Day deserves truthful confrontation with the socio-political conditions and it should not be celebrated with groundless recriminations.

Obasanjo Accuses Buhari Of Corruption, Says He Tampered With EFCC And ICPC

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused President Buhari of corruption and tampering with the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC.

In the interview with Premium Times, Obasanjo accused of President Buhari of corruption and tampering with the operations of ICPC and EFCC who are no longer independent under his government.

The 82-year-old former President said, "I set up two institutions. I came with two laws that were not there before, to fight corruption. And those who claim they are fighting corruption today have not brought in anything different. If anything, they have corrupted those two institutions. And the institutions were open and independent. I never, never, as president had to say to either the head of ICPC or EFCC, 'Oh, chase this person."

Nerotenze Testosterone Polygamy can be a way to remedy demographic and social issues, if it's far ever adopted with the aid of law. But for this, society should trade its mind-set toward monogamous marriage because the handiest permissible. It is unlikely that inside the foreseeable future, girls will agree that sharing the love of their guy with every other girl is just as everyday as domestic home equipment like a meat grinder or vacuum purifier . One of the principle features of a true girl is the desire to just like the contrary sex. And the proper means to achieve this is the artwork of coquetry, which you could master pretty effortlessly. Not all coquetry skillfully and accurately. But this will be found out by using learning a few basic rules . First of all, hold on obviously: even the most patient man will no longer bear lengthy idle chatter, absurd grimaces, sugary lisping. Adequately check your appearance, age and actions. The cooing, cheating is greater appropriate for a totally young lady than a lady in years. Also, if you do no longer need to be left by myself, do not be too frivolous: smile, flirt, no longer your eyes open to everybody, but to someone on my own. The essence of woman coquetry is inside the impermanence, changeability of temper. But right here it's far critical to comply with the measure and no longer flirt. If making a decision no longer to come on a date these days, then tomorrow this number will not pass: your indifference and coldness will push the gentleman away. Alternate lack of information with interest, allow yourself to be loving, ardent, tender. A man might be extra careful together with your emotions, respect any minute in their manifestation, if he feels your anxiety, insecurity. Turn your companion’s head into ambiguity and unpredictability, allow him be a little nervous - this can make your courting brighter. Keep in mind that now not best do  the way to flirt. A man can pay off you the identical.

A man and a school girl were busted inside a lodge in Kitengela, south of Nairobi, Kenya.

The 17-year-old girl, who is a Form Three student, was supposedly heading home for the mid-term break.

The man is said to have booked the lodging room in the morning and later returned with the girl who was still in her school uniform.

The lodge attendants promptly alerted the police who arrived at the scene and nabbed the couple.

Identified as Patrick Waweru, the man owned up to his actions saying that the school girl had consented to their plans.

“We had agreed and she (the school girl) said we could go to a lodge with me. When the police stormed in we were still talking and nothing had happened,” the man said.

Police officers had a hectic time controlling a huge crowd which had gathered outside the lodge to get a glimpse of the man and the school girl.

Residents condemned the incident calling on the police to take action on the suspect. The two were taken to the nearby Kitengela Police Station.

NASS leadership: No more excuses for our party not to deliver- Adams Oshiomhole

APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, says the party has no excuse not to deliver on all its electoral promises as they are now in charge of all the governorment sectors that will facilitate the acqualization of their electoral promises.

Oshiomole said this while reacting to the emergence of its party members as President and Deputy President of the Senate as well as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Quote:“Nigerians with their eyes open gave the APC the executive, they also gave us overwhelming majority in the two arms of the National Assembly. And I think in doing that they also expect that this time around, APC would have no excuse not to deliver. We can’t say we are being blocked by the parliament; parliament is ours and those who don’t believe in change cannot be entrusted with the challenge of managing the change. And that is why I said we must give the position of responsibility to those who believe in our change agenda.
So that has been translated. We now have no excuse not to deliver on security, not to deliver on the economy and not to deliver on prosperity because that is what the ordinary man voted for and they are our constituents. You can just imagine how I feel like a mother who has been carry babies and now, we are on the verge of delivering twins in the two chambers of National Assembly. So we must exercise our rights with a sense of responsibility and the ultimate objective must be to what extent does these actions impact on the welfare of the Nigerian people” he said

Atiku, PDP Seek Tribunal’s Permission To Inspect Inec’s Server
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-12-2019, 03:49 PM - No Replies

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) yesterday fixed tomorrow for hearing of an application by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar for permission to inspect the server with which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) allegedly transmit the election results electronically.

In their petition before the tribunal, the PDP and Atiku are claiming that they won the February 23 presidential election as per the results fed into INEC’s server, a claim the electoral umpire has consistently faulted.

Tribunal’s Chairman, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, said the PEPT will also, tomorrow, hear the petitioners’ other application for extension of time to regularise one of their processes.

At yesterdays sitting, the tribunal heard about 11 applications filed by the respondents; four by the 1st respondent (INEC), three by the second respondent (President Muhammadu Buhari) and three by the third respondent – the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The first INEC’s application moved by its lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN), was that seeking the dismissal of the petition for being defective, the petitioners have failed to include the Vice President, Yemi Osinbjo as a party.

Usman argued that since the ticket is a joint one, with Osinbajo not immune to whatever the outcome of the petitions would be, it was wrong for the petitioners not to have included him as a party.

The second application prayed the court to strike out some portions of the petition for being defective.

Money Corrupted Our Recent Elections – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-12-2019, 03:47 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Innocent Oweh

Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari admitted on Tuesday that illicit funds were used in recent elections in the country mainly to buy votes.

He warned that the growing trend of monetary inducement during elections would have dire consequences on the polity if not checked.

Buhari also argued that the dangers were that the influence of money may, in the long run, subvert free choices by voters and allow unprincipled individuals to gain access to leadership positions.

The president bared his mind when he spoke at the National Democracy Day Anti-Corruption Summit, hosted by the EFCC, with the theme, ‘Curbing Electoral Spending: A Panacea for Public Corruption’.

He said: “Regrettably, the recent political experiences have been characterised by the corrupting influence of money on party politics and electioneering processes.

“This unwholesome practice has dire consequences on our nations, in subverting the exercise of free choice by voters, elevated corrupt and unprincipled individuals to positions of leadership and entrenching the structures of democracy devoid of accountability.”

While trying to buttress the ills of vote buying, he said electoral spending manifested in different forms, hence steps should be taken to de-commercialise the political process so that true democracy could survive and thrive.

He said even though the country was not in short supply of legal frameworks to combat reckless electoral spending, the provision of section 90 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as Amended) explicitly puts a cap on the amount candidates for different political offices must expend on elections, failing which they would be violating the law.

“Of greater significance is the provision of section 88 of the Act which prohibits a political parties in Nigeria from ‘possessing any fund outside or retaining funds or other assets remitted to it from outside Nigeria’.

“The philosophical underpinning of the above provisions and other related provisions of the Act is to prevent desperate politicians from buying their ways into political offices at the expense of low-spending law-abiding individuals.”

At the event attended by the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, including famous anti-corruption advocate, Professor Patrick Lumumba, Buhari said going forward, his administration would unveil stern measures aimed at curbing corruption, part of which would involve abolishing of bank secrecy jurisdictions and cracking down of safe tax havens for corrupt assets.

Buhari, while giving an insight into how he intended to fight corruption in his second term, said he would strengthen the capacity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other anti-corruption agencies by providing additional material, organisational and logistical support.

This would also involve closing existing legislative loopholes, facilitating collaboration with the judiciary, and strengthening of the criminal justice system.

Other measures the president said would be adopted include the enforcement of effective asset declaration by public office holders, ensuring sanctions by professional bodies against lawyers, bankers, brokers, public officials, as well as individuals facilitating corrupt practices.

“We would ensure comprehensive support and protection to whistleblowers, witnesses and victims of corruption; adopt and formulate the policy of ‘naming and shaming’ all those who engage in corrupt practices while encouraging and honouring those who do not.

“This would also include educating, mobilising and encouraging Nigerians at the grassroots level to take ownership of the fight against corruption, while insisting on the unconditional return of looted assets kept abroad and further strengthening of international cooperation through information and mutual legal assistance,” Buhari stressed in his address at the summit.

Meanwhile, acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, said a total of 1,207 convictions had been secured by the anti-graft agency between 2015 and May 2019.

He said between January and May 2019, another 406 convictions were secured through various litigations instituted by the anti-graft agency against corrupt government officials.

A breakdown of the convictions showed that 103 convictions were secured in 2015; 195 in 2016; 189 in 2017, and 314 in 2018.

Magu who noted that significant strides had been made in the fight against corruption, said the task of taming corruption would remain daunting unless Nigerians keyed into the project.

He said: “The principles of democracy have been bastardised over the years by the ruling elite in some countries across the globe.

“Nigeria, in particular, had a fair share of the unbearable scourge of a chronic ‘elite-capture syndrome’. This has primarily been achieved by manipulating the electoral processes using stolen public wealth to subvert the wishes of the people.

“Electoral spending by politicians is often linked to voter inducement in Africa and in our local parlance, ‘vote buying’.

“Worthy of note is the fact that whenever one is induced to sell his vote, he automatically loses the moral equilibrium to challenge corrupt tendencies of those elected.

“On the other hand, vote selling by the electorate has mostly been due to several factors, including lack of proper political education.”

Mike Tyson plans 407-acre cannabis resort
[Image: Mike-Tyson-e1560313502848.jpg]
Mike Tyson hopes to open a cannabis resort in California.
The Tyson Ranch can be visited by weed fans – but it’ll also be used for research purposes.
Tyson is famed for his boxing career.
But now, the retired sportsman is channelling his efforts into a new project.
The 52-year-old set up his own cannabis-themed company in 2016 – Tyson Holistic Holdings.
And the following year, he began developing his own marijuana holiday resort.
The Tyson Ranch is located in Southern California and spans over 400 acres of land.
Development plans show the site will host a variety of tourist attractions.
A lazy river, festival venue and glamping units are among the amenities that are in the works.
Creators also hope to open a hotel to provide a place for cannabis fans to reside.
As well as being a fun place to stay, the Tyson Ranch will be used to cannabis research.
Tyson hopes to explore how the drug can be used for health purposes.
He told Cannabis Tech Today: “I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no-brainer.
“I’ve been fighting for over 20 years, and my body has a lot of wear and tear.
“I had two surgeries and I used marijuana to calm my nerves, and it would take the pain away…
“But before, they had me on those opiates, and those opiates had me all screwed up.”
Tyson’s business partner, Hickman, also spoke about the project.
He explained that the ranch will be “a holistic centre for health and wellness”.
The entrepreneur also hopes the site will be a place to “educate people on the healing benefits” of the plant.

Boy, 11, Eats Five Meals A Day To Save Father’s Life
[Image: boyyy.jpg]

An 11-year-old boy is eating at least five meals a day to save his father from leukaemia, According to News.sky.com.

Lu Zikuan’s dad, who was diagnosed seven years ago, needs a bone marrow transplant.

Zikuan, from Xinxiang in China, is the only match within his family, but needs to put on weight before the procedure can go ahead.

Doctors say he needs to weigh at least 45kg (seven stone) before he can become a donor, and the ideal weight is 50kg.

When the family was told this, he was only 30kg.

His father, Lu Yanheng, was being treated with medication until his health deteriorated last August and he needed a blood transfusion.

His only long-term option is a bone marrow transplant, doctors said.

Zikuan has been eating mainly fatty meat with rice, and now weighs 43kg.

His mother relies on discounted meat from the grocery store she works at.

As Zikuan began to put on weight, some of his fellow classmates called him pangzi (fat), his teacher, Zhao Meng-meng, said.

But they stopped after discovering why was getting bigger.

Zikuan said he was not angry about being called fat. “Save dad first, lose weight later,” he told local media.

The school is fundraising to help his family.

People on social media have been moved by his story. Kongwei Wizard said he was shouldering a “great responsibility at such a young age”, adding: “You are amazing.”

Russia Planning To Deliver S-400 Missiles In July

Russia plans to deliver its S-400 missile defense system to Turkey in July, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Tuesday, according to the Haaretz daily, According to Turkishminute.com.

NATO member Turkey’s S-400 deal with Moscow has angered the United States, which has threatened to remove Ankara from its F-35 fighter jet program unless Turkey pulls out of the deal.

“The agreements reached between Russia and Turkey are being fulfilled on time in the given context. There are no bilateral problems,” Ushakov told reporters on Tuesday. Asked if the missiles would be delivered in July, he said, “Yes, just as planned.”

The comments came days after the head of Russian state conglomerate Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said Moscow would start delivering the S-400 missile system to Turkey in two months, contradicting several Turkish officials who said the delivery could take place as soon as June.

On Monday Turkey complained that the United States had not yet taken up its suggestion of creating a joint working group to try to defuse tensions over Ankara’s purchase of the S-400s.

But strains in US-Turkish ties already extend beyond the F-35 to include conflicting strategy in Syria, Iran sanctions and the detention of US consular staff in Turkey.

Credit ratings agency Fitch warned on Tuesday that any US sanctions on Turkey would have a “significant impact” on sentiment around the Turkish lira, which has been sold off since late March in part due to the spat with Washington over the missile defense system.

UK PM favorite Boris Johnson vows to deliver Brexit

Front-runner Boris Johnson is officially launching his campaign to be Britain’s next prime minister, telling fellow Conservatives they must take the UK out of the European Union (EU) or see the party wiped out by angry voters.

Johnson plans to tell supporters at a campaign rally Wednesday that “delay means defeat.”

Ten Conservative lawmakers are running to succeed Theresa May as party leader and prime minister.

Johnson is the bookies’ favorite and has won the backing of many Brexiteer Conservatives by promising Britain will quit the EU by Oct. 31, with or without a divorce deal.

He’s a flamboyant and popular figure, but rivals have criticized his low-profile campaign. Johnson hasn’t given any television interviews or held public events, in a bid to avoid gaffes that could hurt his chances.

NGO unveils ‘Queens of Peace Nigeria’ in FCT

[Image: Queens-of-Peace-Nigeria.jpg?resize=448%2C336&ssl=1]
Messengers of Peace, an NGO that advocates peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, has unveiled ‘Queens of Peace Nigeria’ to champion the crusade for national peace and unity.

The ‘unveiling’ was made during a press conference proceeding the 2019 National Peace Award by the group at the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) hall in Abuja.

Dr Suleiman Adejoh, President of Messengers of Peace, who spoke on behalf of the group, said the ‘Queens of Peace Nigeria’ was a collection of Beauty Queens who volunteered to spread the message of peace.

“These Queens of Peace will be responsible for various peace related advocacy as their own little contribution to peaceful co-existence in our country.

“The main objective is to work for the promotion of peace within Nigeria and beyond irrespective of tribe, gender or religion.

“This is in line with our vision of promoting the culture of peace by organising local and international volunteering projects in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

Suleiman said that the group was set to honour Nigerians from every background, who had contributed in various ways to national peace and harmony at the 2019 National Peace Award.

According to him, there are ordinary Nigerians who have made sacrifices for peace as well as government functionaries and organisations that are listed for award at the event.

“Our primary aim is to encourage those who have promoted peace in various ways, and to appreciate their genuine concern for them to do more.

“We are committed to doing this yearly to tell peace promoters across Nigeria that they are our heroes and we are proud of them.

“Therefore, on July 5, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotels, some Nigerians who have been promoting the peace in various ways shall be honoured with different categories of award at the National Peace Awards.

“We are tired of chaos and bloodshed, and that is the message this will send out, as we celebrate these worthy Ambassadors of our great country” he said.

The organiser said that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other relevant government agencies, as well as civil society groups were in support of the initiative.

Also, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Nollywood actor and Director of Planning Committee for the awards, said that the event was to sound the message of national peace to all Nigerians

“There is no meaningful development that can take place in a chaotic society, where there is no peace and harmony.

“Therefore, every Nigerian who wish our country well should raise his or her voice against disharmony and violence and support this movement for peace,” he said.

Benefits Of Eating Onions Everyday
[Image: onion-red-brunswick-300-seeds.jpg]
The onion, also known as the bulb onion or common onion, is a popular vegetable all over the world that is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium. Its close relatives include the garlic, shallot, leek, chive, and Chinese onion.

Onions can have sweet taste and nice flavor if cooked, eating raw onions can sound like a problem at first. Still, the raw vegetables provide you with more vitamins and useful elements that is why it is better to eat them raw.

Origins and General Information

The Latin name of onion is known as Allium cepa.

Onions are native to Asia and the Middle East. Onions are the most cultivated species of the genus Allium, which also includes garlic, and the cultivation goes back to over 5,000 years.

Onions come in several varieties: red, white, yellow, and green (scallions). Yellow onions are considered the sweetest-tasting.

Onion juice influences your blood pressure, reduces it and works as prevention to platelets and clusters. There are different studies of the influence of onion on the human heart, and some of them suggest that this vegetable has a positive effect.

Each onion you eat helps your blood regulation, improves cholesterol levels and makes the heart stronger.

3. Easier breathing Onions help to relax your muscles, and this can result in easier breathing. For example, if you have asthma, you might ease its symptoms if you eat raw onions every day.

However, it is extremely important for every patient with asthma to talk to their doctor before trying to eat onions as a treatment against such condition.

Most of us avoid eating raw onions and prefer replacing them with other vegetables and flavors because of the strong smell and the fact that onions can make you cry while you slice or chop them. Is it possible to reduce the ‘effect of tears’ and mask ones breath after eating onions? Everything is possible.

The onions, your hands, and even knife should be wet when slicing onions, this will reduce the strong smell of onion. If you want to get rid of the unpleasant smell from your mouth after eating raw onions you are advised to eat walnuts, almonds, or pine nuts.

You can also mask your onion breath by chewing a mint or menthol gum after consuming your daily serving of this veggie. Stay healthy and make sure you are not allergic to this product before you consume it. Eat onions without crying and enjoy all the health benefits of this vegetable.

Global rates of infertility have remained relatively stable between 1990 and 2010, according to a study that compiled data from 277 national surveys in 190 countries. Research by the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that in 2010, 48.5 million couples worldwide were unable to have a child.

What Is Male infertility?

Male infertility refers to a male's inability to cause pregnancy in a fertile female. In humans it accounts for 40–50% of infertility. It affects approximately 7% of all men. Male infertility is commonly due to deficiencies in the semen, and semen quality is used as a surrogate measure of male fecundity.

The main symptom of infertility is the inability to get pregnant. A menstrual cycle that is too long (35 days or more), too short (less than 21 days), irregular or absent can mean that you're not ovulating. There may be no other outward signs or symptoms.

Ugandan woman arrested for forcefully feeding step daughter food mixed with her menstrual blood

Police in Mukono, Uganda have arrested a woman accused of forcefully feeding her teenage step daughter food mixed with her menstrual blood.

Annet Namata’s husband, Unusu Lungu in an interview with Observer, said that he learnt about the shocking incident from his neighbours who intervened to save the teenager’s life when they saw her vomiting on the veranda after the suspect had left to go and trap grasshoppers.

He says the curious residents asked the teenager what had happened but she couldn’t speak and instead pointed at a plate of food inside the sitting room. The irritated residents notified Lungu after giving the teenager hot water to wash her mouth, garlic and charcoal powder to swallow.

Lungu says he couldn’t withhold his anger and attacked Namata at her workplace. She reportedly confessed and blamed the girl, saying that she removed the blood from a bucket and mixed it with her food. According to Lungu, the suspect fled into hiding when he left to report the matter to local authorities.

"She mixed the blood with the sauce made of eggplants. She forced the teenager to eat it threatening her that she would strangle her and vanish. So I asked her to eat the food herself and that is when she confessed and said that indeed the food contained menstrual blood. But she blamed the daughter as the one who went and removed the blood from her knickers and added it to the food so she could be blamed." said Lungu.

The village council leaders thereafter sweet-talked Namata on phone and convinced her to return for mediation. Sarah Namawejje, the Women LC I representative says Namata pleaded guilty to the accusations and asked for forgiveness.

She claimed that she was ill advised by her friends to feed the minor with menstrual blood so as to turn her into a lunatic. Namata claimed that she felt infuriated because of the preferential care that her husband was giving to the teenager.

Namwejje says that the case weighed heavily on the Village Women Council, which prompted them to handover the suspect to police.

"She told me that her husband 'loved his daughter so much to the point of even beating me in case I annoyed her. Every nice thing my husband was giving it to her.' I asked if indeed it is true that she gave her step daughter menstrual blood? She admitted and said 'yes' and that she had contacted a  friend who advised her to give the teenager blood so she could become mad. She asked for forgiveness from the husband and the council." said Namwejje.

Rogers Sseguya, the Mukono district police commander, says they have handed over the matter to the child and family protection unit, which is also ensuring sufficient care for the teenager to recover psychologically from this trauma.

Nigeria is worse off than it was in 1993 - MKO Abiola’s son, Abdulmumuni

Abdulmumuni, son of the late Chief MKO Abiola, has spoken on the lack of progress in the country since 1993.

Speaking on the June 12 (Democracy Day) the late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola’s son lamented that the education and health sectors had collapsed.

President Buhari on Monday signed into law the Public Holiday (Amendment) Bill, making June 12  a public holiday in the country. It also becomes the country’s official Democracy Day, replacing May 29, which hitherto was a public holiday.

The President took the decision to honour the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola. But Abdulmumuni said  June 12 should be a day of national sober reflection for Nigerians as the “people are getting poorer and the poverty rate is increasing”.

Abdulmumuni, who was at the National Centre for Women Development in Abuja on Monday to receive an award on behalf of his late mother, who was inducted into the Nigerian Women Hall of Fame alongside 21 others,  said;

Quote:“The recognition of June 12 as Democracy Day will get people thinking. I don’t think it should be a day of celebration. It should be a day of reflection of where we are as a country and where we are going. It is important that we should know that for the decisions we make today, there are consequences.
“This is because those who made the decisions to truncate the Nigerian people’s yearning for democracy in 1993 would now see that sometimes when you make certain decisions, you must see the consequences.
“The country is worse off than it was in 1993. My father was trying to address certain issues like poverty eradication and free education. But what is going on in the country now? The education system is dilapidated. The health care system is nothing. People are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. The poverty rate is increasing. I think the idea is that June 12 should be a day of reflection and I believe we can get out of this situation.”

Romanian migrant arrives in UK on Friday & jailed for theft on Monday

A Romanian migrant who arrived in the UK on Friday was jailed three days later for shoplifting.

20-year-old Leonard-Valter Tudor went shoplifting in a branch of TK Maxx in Nottingham, just a day after he arrived in the country.

The Nottingham magistrates’ court heard that he took a foil-lined bag into the store thinking it would fool the security screens but was caught outside on June 8 while another man managed to flee.

Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, said: "In interview, the defendant said he landed in the country the day before. He went to an address in Doncaster intending to find some work.

"He was approached by another Romanian man he doesn't know. There was the suggestion of employment in Nottingham of taking items from a shop and accepts he was opening bags and taking items.

"He had a foil lined bag and takes full responsibility for his action.”

According to the Nottingham Post, Tudor admitted theft of accessories worth £508 and having the foil-lined bag.

Judge Leo Pyle sentenced Tudor to 16 weeks in a young offenders’ institution and ordered him to pay a government surcharge of £115.

Judge Pyle said: "The sentence should be a deterrent in your particular case."

Defending Tudor, Neil O’Sullivan said Tudor had become a dad for the first time just a fortnight ago.

He said: "Simply the promise of money led him to commit these offences. As one can imagine, he had no income whatsoever as he only landed on Friday. He was detained straight away by security staff. All the items were recovered.

"This was an enterprise he entered into with some reluctance, it is fair to say. In some ways, it was borne out of necessity.”

A post for women who only pray for their husbands forgetting themselves

[Image: prayer-for-husband-and-self.jpg?resize=426%2C377&ssl=1]
The moment she remembered herself and started to pray for her self too, things turned around for her. Prayer is good when you pray for others and pray for yourself too. When you fly, the airhostess teaches you to first of all give yourself the oxygen mask before trying to help others, in the case of any eventuality.
Most times wives spend all our years on earth praying for our husbands while forgetting that as individuals we need prayers too.

“My husband used to cheat on me with every kind of woman. He openly told me that if i wanted to leave his house, i should leave. Many times he told me he was tired of me, but i persisted in the relationship because i loved him so much and i had no job. I prayed and fasted for years for my husband to change but he instead got worse. I cried to God night and day but nothing changed. One time, i was doing a 3 days fast for my husband to change, then i heard a little voice inside me say you have been praying for your husband for many years to change, you have not been praying for yourself. Stop praying for your husband and instead pray for yourself. Ask God to open doors of opportunities for you, as God to heal you, ask God to guide you, ask God to restore you. After hearing that voice, I immediately changed my 3 days fast to start praying for my self. From that time on, I stopped praying for my husband and concentrated on praying for my self. God gave me divine wisdom and direction. One day, i saw an advert on Facebook for jobs in Canada. I applied for the job and after about one and half years, i was contacted and interviewed.
In about two months time from the time of my interview, i was called to go work in Canada and all my travel documents arranged. My husband continued going around with his women. After i hard everything in my hands, i sat him down and told him i I was tired of what he was doing. like usual he told me, if you want to go, you can go. He could not believe it when i immediately packed my bags and left. News reached him that i was in Canada and now he is begging me to come back to him but no i am gone for good. I thank God i that we only had a traditional marriage and not a church marriage, i do not even have to seek for divorce. i have just moved on. Some times we need to stop praying for other people and pray for ourselves for guidance”
Now, you reading this, even as you now embark on praying for yourself for God’s intervention towards your problems, I join you today and pray for you that the Lord of Moses/Elijah, will today remember you and fulfill His promise to you in Jesus name.
Amen

Fans accuse Kendall Jenner of being anorexic while pumping fuel in her $350 High heel

Kendall Jenner in Kim’s oversized pair of jeans wearing high heel kitten shoes while pumping gas at a gas station.
Fans have accused Kendall Jenner of not eating and being anorexic after an image surfaced of her buying fuel for her car.
Supermodel Kendall Jenner dresses up, even when she has to just go buy fuel.
The model, 23, paused to refill the tank in her Porsche while driving in Beverly Hills on Thursday, sporting a very trendy outfit: sister Kim Kardashian’s Caroline Lemke sunglasses ($90), vintage Levi’s jeans and a vintage Dolce & Gabbana flower-printed crop top.
She finished the look with a pair of high-heeled flip-flops that are sure to be polarizing. Her black patent leather Simon Miller “Beep” thongs retail for $340, although the style is currently sold out in most sizes.
Kendall may have taken cues from her sister Kylie Jenner, who recently posed next to her custom ice blue Rolls-Royce Wraith clad in a $2,290 Balenciaga mini dress made from crushed velvet that complemented the car’s paint job.
While Jenner appears to be one of the first celebrities to give high-heeled flip-flops a personal stamp of approval, the style’s been trending on the runways, with Balenciaga and Gianvito Rossi both offering up versions of the look.
While she pumps her fuel into the car, fans scrutinize her look from her head, arms, waist down to her toes and leave comments describing her toned arms, tiny waist that will soon let the jean drop and asking her to eat some more.

Man narrates incredible story of how he met his wife at a stranger’s grave he visited

[Image: how-starnger-met-his-wife-at-a-grave-yar...C284&ssl=1]
A man has shared his story on how a series of events led him to start leaving flowers at a stranger’s grave. How he met his wife while praying on that grave on one of such visits…
Twitter user Matt, who goes by the username Sixth Form Poet, was frequenting the graveyard where his father was buried and noticed that the grave next to his dad’s never had any flowers.
Feeling guilty, Matt began to buy flowers for the solitary grave every week for two and a half years when he visited his dad. His dad’s grave, he reported, looked like ‘a solid third place at the Chelsea Flower Show’ meanwhile the neighbouring grave was always barren.
The man who was buried was 37 and died on Christmas day, which made Matt feel even worse about the lack of attention his grave received. ‘It was a little private joke with myself, I was making the world a better place one bunch of flowers at a time’ he wrote.
Feeling a connection with the dead man, Matt then decided to Google the circumstances under which he died. The story then takes a dark turn as Matt finds out that the stranger he had been offering flowers to was actually a murderer.
‘His wife didn’t leave him flowers because he’d murdered her on Christmas day! After he murdered his wife, he murdered her parents too. And after that, he jumped in front of [a] train that Christmas night. ‘That was why no one ever left him flowers. No one except me, of course. I left him flowers. I left him flowers every couple of weeks.’
Matt then explained how he felt bad for the dead man’s wife and parents, but wasn’t going to be able to send them flowers for the next two years to rectify his blunder. Feeling like he owed them an apology, he tracked down where their graves were and decided to visit to say sorry.
‘As I was standing at their graves mumbling apologies, a woman appeared behind me,’ he added. ‘She wanted to know who I was and why I was leaving flowers for her aunt and grandparents. AWKWARD.
‘I explained and she said that’s weird but quite sweet. I said thanks, yes it is a bit weird and oh god I ASKED HER OUT FOR A DRINK.
Incredibly, she said yes. ‘Two years later she said yes again when I asked her to marry me because that is how I met my wife.’ Though the story, while certainly incredible, wowed almost 100,000 users on Twitter, some did express their skepticism at the credibility of it. Matt insists it’s a true story though and went onto explain a further two, equally riveting stories as part of his three-part chronicle.

Femi Fani-Kayode: June 12, Democracy Day and Nigeria’s dance of death

 June 12, 2019

Today is June 12th, our nation’s Democracy Day and I have some home truths to tell.

The struggle for June 12th was indeed a noble, worthy, cataclysmic and monumental one. It was also something of a nightmare which littered our fields with many corpses and soaked the very foundation of our nation with blood, sweat and tears.

I can confirm that because I was deeply involved in it and for many years I, along with many others, fought for it’s actualisation.

Many were martyred, many were jailed, many were tortured and many were compelled to flee into exile.
Great essayists, keen minds and profound writers and thinkers like Professor Adebayo Williams, Professor Wole Soyinka, Mr. Gbolabo Ogunsanwo, Justice Adewale Thompson and the great Chinwezu kept us going, fuelled our courage, stirred our passion, inspired our spirits and ignited souls with their powerful essays which we read eagerly and voraciously wherever we found ourselves in the world.

This was an intellectual, spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological conflict and struggle and we threw everything that we had into it.

Chief MKO Abiola was our hero and leader. He was the symbol and rallying point of the struggle and both he and his wife Kudirat sacrificed their lives for it.
I commend the Buhari administration for naming June 12th as our nation’s Democracy Day and I believe that Abiola deserves it. Yet this noble gesture, as commendable as it is, may well be too little and too late.

I say this because the Nigeria of today is the Nigeria of Buhari and not the Nigeria of Abiola. And this presents us with a very different set of challenges which have resulted in a far greater existential threat to our country than the annulment of Abiola’s June 12th presidential mandate and his subsequent murder ever did.

Consider the following. In Buhari’s Nigeria the President is from the core Muslim north. The Senate President is from the core Muslim north. The Chief Justice of the Federation is from the core Muslim north.

Again in Buhari’s Nigeria every single security, intelligence, investigative, military and para-military agency in the country except for the Navy is headed by a northern Muslim.

This begs the question: do the southerners and indeed the Christians have any place or any meaningful stake in Buhari’s Nigeria?

Yet it does not stop there. In Buhari’s Nigeria the core north says “no” when we say stop the genocide. They say “no” when we say restructure. They say “no” when we say establish a federation. They say “no” when we say establish a confederation. They say “no” when we say stop the hegemony.

They say “no” when we say Nigeria is a secular state. They say “no” when we say stop the Fulanisation. They say “no” when we say stop the Islamisation. They say “no” when we say Nigeria belongs to us all.
They say “no” when we say the northern minorities can lead the nation. They say “no” when we say there are many in the south that can govern the country.

They say “no” when we say Nigeria is not an appendage of Saudi Arabia. They say “no” when we say we are equal regardless of tribe or faith.
They say “no” when we say free Leah Sharibu. They say “no” when we say we are not their slaves. They say “no” when we say we demand a referendum.

They say “no” when we say we want to leave the marriage and break the union. They say “no” when we say stop playing this dangerous music. They say “no” when we say stop indulging in this dance of death.
They say “no” to everything and to everyone that seeks to resolve our differences in a reasonable and peaceful manner.

And so it has been for the last 59 long and turbulent years of our existence as an independent state and sovereign nation.
Little did we know that in 1960 we had merely replaced our external British colonial masters with a new set of internal ones.

We locked ourselves into a strange and deceitful web and became enmeshed and entangled in a complex catalogue of self-induced and self-inflicted woes.
Today we are a people under occupation and our land has been desecrated by the precence of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of extremly violent, dangerous, well-armed, blood-lusting, blood-crazed and blood-frenzied terrorists and killer herdsmen who are just waiting for the signal from their masters before they unleash unimaginable horror, terror and hell on our people.

Must we wait until we are slaughtered like flies and buried in mass graves, like the Biafrans, the Bosnians, the Tutsis, the Jews, the Congolese, the Armenians, the Red Indians of North America, the Aborigines of Australia, the Incas and Aztecs of South America, the Ouigas of Mynmar, the Yazidis of Syria and Iraq and countless others, before our eyes open and we demand to leave this tinderbox?

Can anyone blame Prince Adekunle Odunmorayo when he said, “The demand for restructuring is cowardly, useless and unachievable. Damn any restructuring. We want out of this charade. We want a new nation: we want Oduduwa”.

The Prince, who is my kinsman and a proud son of Ile-Ife, has spoken the minds of millions.

Yet it does not stop there. Permit me to add the words of one of the greatest, most moderate, most conservative and most respected leaders of our nation who fought to keep Nigeria together during the civil war, who has dedicated his entire life to that cause and who has had the privilage of leading the country on at least two separate occassions.

Barely two days after a woman and her step-son were kidnapped by suspected herdsmen in Osi community area of Akure North Local Government, Ondo state, the monarch of the town has escaped being kidnapped by the whiskers.

The traditional ruler, Iresi of Osi, Oba David Olajide on Tuesday was waylaid with the same technique used on Sunday when Mrs Olawumi Adeleye and his step-son, Destiny Paul were kidnapped.

Recall that on Sunday, the monarch had raised the alarm about abduction of the victims
, who were on their way from church in Akure, the state capital, when suspected herdsmen blocked the road with cattle which forced the vehicle they were driving in to a halt.

It was gathered that the suspected Fulani herdsmen in the failed kidnap attempt had launched the dreaded attack on the monarch along the Akure-Owo highway on his way to his community, Osi, which is less than two kilometres from the Akure airport.
Oba Olajide was said to have confronted the daredevils which aided his escape from the scene.

Narrating the incident, the monarch disclosed that he was on his way to his community from the headquarters of the Nigeria Police in the state following the release of Sunday’s kidnap victims (Mrs Olawumi and step-son, Destiny) by their abductors.

According to the monarch, “after the release of the woman, I took her and her son to the police headquarters to hand them over to the police, so on my way coming back home, the herdsmen blocked the road with their cows, the same way they kidnapped the woman and her son on Sunday when they were returning from church.”

“As I got to the place, I slowed down my car and I saw them coming to attack me but I managed to escape, they hit and damaged my car but through the grace of God I escaped.”

Meanwhile, he revealed that one of the suspected kidnapper was apprehended moments after the kidnap attempt, adding that he has been handed over to the police.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Femi Joseph, stated that the suspect is currently in the police custody.
He added that the police dragnet has been launched towards apprehending other members of the gang.

“We have the suspect with us, we are already making efforts to arrest the fleeing members of the gang and investigation has also commenced,” the PPRO stated.

On Tuesday, DAILY POST had reported how men of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade of the Owena Cantonment, In Ondo State, apprehended a suspected member of a kidnap syndicate in the state, identified as Victor John,

He was caught with military camouflage, which he was said to be using to terrorise and as well kidnap residents of the state for ransom.

Immediate past senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has slammed Governor Nasir El-rufai for claiming to have retired him and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi from Kaduna politics.

El-rufai yesterday in a post on his verified social media handles taunted Sani and Hunkuyi for losing out in the 2019 elections after allegedly betraying him.

He said, “KDSG congratulates Senators Suleiman Abdu Kwari and Uba Sani and wish the former senators Suleiman Hunkuyi and Shehu Sani a well-deserved retirement.
“LESSON: Unless betrayed, our loyalty and fidelity to friends are permanent and pensionable.
“Unless reconciled, our opposition and enmity to traitors are also permanent and pensionable. A new chapter for all of them begins today.”

In a swift reaction, Shehu Sani said in a statement personally signed by him that Governor El-rufai could not lay claim to ‘retiring’ him from politics because he is yet to do it without President Muhammadu Buhari’s backing.

He alleged plots by the governor to assassinate him and Senator Hunkuyi; adding that he was free to send his ‘body bag’ assassins after them.

The statement read, “My attention has been drawn to the post by Nasir El-rufai where he made mention of my name and that of Distinguished Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi. Even though I’m in Court with the Governor in the last one year where he sued me and I sued him back for libel, it’s still necessary to respond to him thus;

“You can’t claim to have ‘retired’ anyone in politics when all your life is about hanging behind President Buhari and name dropping him to achieve your goals.
“You are yet to prove your ‘power of retirement’ by standing on your feet, though the recent one you did was trying to be the chairman of Governors’ forum and you woefully failed.

“Your treacherous history of decamping from one Godfather to another is well known to all Nigerians. And I have always believed that it’s a matter of time before PMB will have a taste of your patented venom and perfidy once you reach a point that he is of no further importance to you.

“You are Neither the first to ‘win re-election’ nor will you be the last in our state. The difference is that even Makarfi who served 8 years never claimed to have retired anyone. And their victories was never challenged as fraud.

“It’s typical of you after spending days and night begging PMB and Oshiomole to have your way over two senatorial seats only for you to purport for yourself the claim of retiring your perceived adversaries. All the staff of Oshiomole’s office at Aso Drive can attest to how you patrolled that office 24hours and knelt down for him to have your way and how you shed tears before PMB to let you install a stooge.

“However, I believed that President Buhari is experienced enough to know that what you say behind him is different from what you say before him.
“In the last four years, I have survived many attacks and assassination attempts in Kaduna of which the intention is clear.

“You tried to frame me up for murder until your evil became exposed.
“On the month of May 2018 you openly called on the public to launch violence and kill me and the other two senators.

“The clear threats in your post is not different from your desire to murder me or Senator Hunkuyi or any of our family members.

“You are highly intoxicated with power, but like I always say, power is temporary, no matter how long you cling unto it, it’s a matter of time you will return back as an ordinary person and at the mercy of your deeds.
“You can continue to hide behind Buhari to ‘retire people’ and you can use your vantage position to kill me or Senator Hunkuyi But Neither you nor your likes can silence us.

“I’m not responsible for your height but your God.
“You, Your wives and your children are so stuck and obsessed with us, why not for once graduate from this point.

“I’m always proud of my votes and my supporters; I never divided people along religious lines to get votes and I never shared money and fabrics to women and men to queue up to vote for me and I never used threats and violence to force people to vote for me and I never relied on ‘Baba Buhari’ to come to kaduna to ask people to vote for me.

“Before I left the APC, I told PMB and Oshiomhole and Tinubu that you will insult, betray and fight them. It’s in your DNA.

“The liquor of power makes you think and act like a God, enjoy it while it lasts. It seems your mind is still troubled if not, Shehu Sani could not have been in your heart long after you ‘retired him’.

“You are at liberty to send your body bags assassins after me but be rest assured that the Shehu you know will never be silent.”

PDP congratulates new National Assembly leadership

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated and charged the new leadership of the bi-camera federal legislature to jealously guard the independent of that critical arm of government.

The main opposition party, in a congratulatory message, acknowledged the new set of the leadership of the two chambers and congratulated them for their electoral victories in the keenly contested positions.

Senator Ahmed Lawan, a fifth-time lawmaker through the two chambers, emerged the President of the Senate while Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was elected his deputy. Lawan, who represents Yobe North senatorial district and Omo-Agege, who holds the mandate for Delta Central district, are of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila was elected Speaker, while Mr Ahmed Idris emerged his deputy. They are also of the APC.

In a statement, Tuesday night by the spokesman for the PDP, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the party also commended all those that made the contests robust for helping to deepen democratic practice.

The PDP said it will always stand on the side of decency and utmost respect for the institution of the National Assembly and the values we hold as a people.

The statement said, “Our party therefore charges the federal lawmakers, as representatives of the people, to place the welfare, wishes and aspirations of Nigerians above every other considerations by ensuring a strong and independent legislature that upholds the tenets of democracy and the dictates of our constitution.

Quote:“The 9th National Assembly therefore must work hard to save our nation from the prevailing despondency caused by the misrule of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, by effectively applying its statutory legislative instruments to guarantee good governance and fiscal prudence, curb corruption, check the excesses of the executive and protect the rights of Nigerians from incessant violations”.
The party charged the lawmakers to bear in mind that their allegiance is to the people and the constitution, and not to any particular leader or group.
“Our party, therefore, charges the legislature to work only in the interest of our nation and resist the manipulations and pressure that might come from quarters that seek to undermine our democratic order.
“On our part, the PDP, as a  party, will remain truly committed to the welfare of Nigerians. We shall continue to keep our focus on the quest for good governance, national cohesion and economic wellbeing of the people, even as we pursue our collective aspiration for the successful retrieval of our stolen Presidential mandate at the tribunal”, the statement added.

Sudan Crisis: Doctors accuse troops of rape after treating over 70 cases of rape in aftermath of attack on protest

Doctors believe that paramilitaries carried out more than 70 rapes during an attack on a protest camp in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, a week ago.

More than 100 people were killed and as many as 700 injured in the attack last Monday on a sit-in and clashes afterwards, as paramilitaries from the Rapid Support Forces spread through the city to quell sporadic unrest.

Shocking details of rapes by the RSF have emerged in recent days despite restrictions on communications in Sudan, but the extent of the sexual violence has remained unknown. One doctor with access to data compiled by the central committee of doctors, a pro-reform group, said hospitals in Khartoum had recorded more than 70 cases of rape in the attack and its immediate aftermath.

A doctor at the Royal Care hospital said it had treated eight victims of rape five women and three men. At a second hospital in the south of Khartoum, a medical source said it had received two rape cases, including one who was attacked by four RSF paramilitaries.

Several witnesses have also described similar cases on social media. Many victims have not sought medical treatment, either because of fear of reprisals, insecurity in the city, or because care has been limited. Human rights activists and experts have described the reports of sexual violence as reliable.

The crisis in Sudan continued on Monday with the second day of a general strike aimed at relaunching an opposition movement battered by a brutal crackdown, and forcing the country’s military leaders to resign. Shops were closed and streets were empty throughout Khartoum and in the neighbouring city of Omdurman, though there was visibly more traffic in the streets than on Sunday, when the strike began.

Four protesters were killed in sporadic violence in the two cities over the weekend. A top US diplomat will head to the country this week to urge an end to the crackdown. Tibor Nagy, the US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, plans to meet both members of the military leadership and protest leaders in Khartoum.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 12TH JUNE.

ETERNAL LIFE AND OUR VITAL UNION WITH GOD

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (1 John 5:11 NIV).

There’s a legal union that we have with God that Jesus brought us into, but receiving eternal life brought us into a vital union with God. A simple illustration to explain and help you understand this is a marriage relationship between a man and a woman. Marriage between them is ratified on the basis of mutual consent and a duly signed contract as required by law.

Then, as man and wife, as a result of the marriage, they form a family, and now that they’re a family, they have a vital union. This is different from the “signed paper”; that paper documented the legal union.

The legal union only has authority; for example, if you had a problem and there was a question about inheritance, the courts will need the legality of that marriage to decide something about the inheritance; they’ll ask for the document of your marriage.

They’re not going to be looking at something about your home per se; they’ll be more interested in something that can be tendered legally.

So, Jesus brought us into a legal union with Himself and with our heavenly Father. He also gave us something that brought us into a vital union with Himself and with our heavenly Father. So, we have both the legal and the vital. Eternal life brings us into a vital union with our heavenly Father.

One of the great benefits of our vital union with God (the result of eternal life) is that eternal life also gives us divine health, which is better than divine healing. There’s a place for healing, but something far better is divine health. It’s a great thing to be healed, but never being sick is far better. Is it possible never to be sick? Absolutely! But you need to understand and acknowledge this life that you received through the new birth. It’s part of what we read in our opening verse, 1 John 5:11 (NIV). Verses 12 and 13 says, “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (NIV).

2 Peter 1:3 says, “…his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” You’ve got to know Him, for only then will you understand and enjoy all that belongs to you in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER

Precious Father, I thank you for giving me eternal life and bringing me into a vital union with you! I rejoice that I’m one spirit with you, and thus an associate of the God-kind. I walk in divine health, prosperity, success and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

1 John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

#TALKINGSESSION

12TH JUNE.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for making me the expression of Your glory to my world. The more of Your Word I imbibe in my spirit through meditation, the more Your glory increases in my life. Therefore, my profiting is evident to all; Your anointing
upon my life is increased; grace, favour, effectiveness and efficiency are increasing in my life.

I thank you for Your Word that guides me and illuminates my path to see, and my heart to know and walk in Your perfect will at all times. Thank You for Your wisdom that is manifest in my decisions and choices today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Buhari's government is driving Nigeria towards disaster and instability — Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the President Buhari-led government is driving Nigeria towards “disaster and instability”.

Obasanjo said this in an exclusive interview with Premium Times at his Ibogun Olaogun ancestral home in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, last month.

The former president fell apart with Buhari ahead of the 2019 general elections and endorsed the president’s closest rival and his estranged vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking during the interview, Obasanjo noted that although the country has made considerable progress since the new dispensation began in 1999, the pace at which it is currently moving shows the nation may be inching towards disaster and instability.

Quote:“I think we have no choice but to be on the path for sustainable development. The progress we are making may be questionable Is it fast enough? Is it steady enough? Is it stable enough? Are we taking two steps forward and one step back or one step side-way?
You can question that, but we have no choice but to be on (the) path for sustainable development. Any other thing will be a disaster. In fact, the pace at which we are going now is tending more and more toward disaster and instability and unsustainability.
No Confidence in the Economy’ The former president argued that there is no confidence in the Nigerian economy today. Rather, he said, the gains recorded in the past have been frittered away over the years.
Speaking on what went wrong, the former president explained that Nigeria has failed to do what is right to instill confidence in domestic and foreign investors. The ripple effect of the nation’s indecision, he said, manifests in the state of the economy.  Nigeria slipped into recession in 2016 after several contractions in the economy, amidst an unstable naira and rising inflation rates. By the second quarter of 2017, the nation slipped out of recession.  Although the government claims that the nation has been put on the path of sustainable growth, unemployment figures have also ballooned within the period.
