Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos today Monday, June 3rd, sentenced a former Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Calistus Obi, to seven years imprisonment over N136 million fraud.

The court had on May 25th, convicted Obi for knowingly converting and laundering N136 million meant for the corporation while he was in office.

The Economic and Financial Crines Commisson (EFCC) dragged Obi and his co-conspirators before the court in 2016 for conspiracy, conversion and money laundering of the sum of N136 million.

Obi was charged alongside one Alu Dismas, an aide to Patrick Akpobolokemi, a former Director-General of NIMASA, on an 8 count charge of conspiracy and money laundering.
