Arrest Of Nasir Danu At UK Airport: PDP Mocks Buhari’s Presidency
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-06-2019, 11:45 AM - No Replies

Quote:Following the arrest of Nasir Danu at the Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, for alleged passport scam and money laundering, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday jeered at President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency and the All Progressives Congress, APC, urging them to defuse the situation and take a stand.

Disclosing this in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the party, PDP, said that Nasir Danu is Buhari’s known confidant, noting that it was the reason behind the Presidency’s silence on the issue.

The party therefore insists that the silence by the Presidency on the matter since the report of Danu’s arrest and deportation is self-indicting, particularly given his reported confessions and alleged links to persons closely related to Mr. President.

This is in addition to apprehensions in the public space that he was caught while allegedly ferrying stolen currencies for persons said to be close to the Presidency.

Read the statement below:

“The party says the Buhari Presidency must also speak out on this huge scandal and allegations that Danu’s has been in the business of connecting the said close relation of the President with many oil contractors for alleged underhand deals through which billions of naira get frittered.

The PDP notes that this is beside allegations of being a front for scandalous contracts running into billions of naira from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, among other government agencies.

The party cautions the Buhari Presidency to perish the thoughts of concealing this scandal as it is already in the public domain with Nigerians demanding for investigations.

The PDP therefore charges the Buhari Presidency to immediately order an open investigation into the matter and expose those in this scandalous racket.

Nigerians can now further see how the Buhari Presidency stinks. Our party therefore insists that for a government that always orchestrates claims of integrity and zero tolerance for corruption, it behoves on the Presidency to come clean as well as order an investigation into this huge allegation”.

Buhari told to stop planned return of toll gates

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) said it has received with shock the decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to re-introduce toll gates on the nation’s roads.
The Buhari government had during the week announced plans to reintroduce toll gates across Nigeria.

The government of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo had scrapped tolls on federal roads in 2004.
In a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ikenga Ugochinyere, CUPP said, “We note that the decision is coming at a time the government is also planning to increase Value Added Tax.
“All these are coming at a time the same government is reneging on its promise ahead of the 2019 general elections to increase national minimum wage to N30,000.

“Opposition parties view these insensitive economic policies of the Federal Government as deliberate decisions aimed at further impoverishing Nigerians who are already wallowing in abject poverty.
“This government, clearly does not have the interest and welfare of the citizens at heart and does not deserve Nigerians’ support.
“We make bold to say that this government decided to embark on desperate and crazy drive for revenue to cover up for national resources that have
been squandered by top government officials in an administration that claims to be fighting corruption.

“This is the same reason why armed officials of the Nigeria Customs Service will throw caution into the winds and shatter the peace of hotels and car marts under the guise of seizing smuggled cars.
“We urge this government to henceforth drop all its anti-people policied
just as we advise Nigerians to be fully prepared to resist and protest against any government policies that will further make their lives worthless.

“Specifically, we urge the Federal Government to immediately rescind its
decision to reintroduce toll gates on our roads for the interest of peace.”

DAILY POST recalls that Tacha was disqualified following a violence that broke out between herself and arch-rival, Mercy, on Friday, 27th September.

Mathew Kukah, the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, has faulted the huge salaries of members of the National Assembly.
Kukah urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to prevail on lawmakers to slash their huge salaries by half.

Kukah explained that such would enable the creation of more jobs for Nigerians.
Kukah
The cleric made the call while backing the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, who recently called on lawmakers to slash their salary by half.

He spoke at the 3rd annual conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) on the theme, “Economy, Security and National Development: The Way Forward” held at Ikeja Lagos during the weekend.

He described the continued relapse of Nigeria’s economy, and increase in insecurity.
According to Kukah: ”As provoking as Sanusi said, if the salaries of a senator, 36 million naira is cut in half, it will create jobs for thousands of Nigerians with salaries of 92,000 naira each.
”We are the poverty capital of the world, what else do we need to know?

”A British judge said: If there were a World Cup for Corruption, Nigeria will always play in the finals.”

LaLiga: Chukwueze’s release clause to be increased to N24bn

Villarreal are set to offer Samuel Chukwueze a new deal, which will also see his release clause rise up to €60million (about N24bn), Marca reports.
The move is to ward off reported interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The Super Eagles winger’s current deal which runs up until 2023, includes a release clause of €40m (about N14bn).
Chukwueze broke into the Yellow Submarine first team last season and he has quickly established himself as a fans favourite at the El Madrigal.
He has featured in six of their seven LaLiga games so far this season, and he looks set to play a key role this season for Villarreal, alongside Santi Cazorla and Pau Torres.

''What an assault on our democracy'' Oby Ezekwesili reacts as FG reportedly builds fence around Unity Fountain Abuja, threatens to file lawsuit

The Unity Fountain Abuja has served as a rallying point for many protests within the Capital city. The fountain until now was an open space where anyone can walk in to relax or organize a protest.

According to former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, the Federal government is currently building a fence around the Unity Fountain. Reacting to this development, the former Minister who hitherto uses the same fountain for the convergence of the Bring Back Our Girls campaigners, says this move by the Federal government will end in tears. She threatened to file lawsuit against the Federal government if the fence is not pulled down.

APC mocks Goodluck Jonathan following David Cameron's claim he refused UK govt's help to rescue Chibok girls

The ruling party, APC, has said Goodluck Jonathan should not have bothered to reply David Cameron's claim that he refused the UK government's help to rescue Chibok girls.

Cameron in his recently released memoir titled ''In For The Record'', claimed some British troops spotted the location of the abducted Chibok girls and offered to help in rescuing them but Jonathan refused.

READ: ''You are a liar'' - Goodluck Jonathan reacts to David Cameron's claim he refused UK govt's help to rescue Chibok girls

Below is the sarcastic message by All Progressives Congress national secretary Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu to Jonathan on Saturday night, following his rebuttal of revelations in a new book by Cameron.

Quote:“Although, Jonathan is entitled to a right of reply, he shouldn’t have bothered about Cameron’s allegations, talk less denying it” the APC said in a statement by Publicity Secretary Lanre Issa-Onilu.
“Nigerians already know the story of Jonathan’s habitual negligence to matters of state. The Chibok schoolgirls abduction and his “sleeping behind the wheel” is not a story to deny as it is already part of our national history. We may disagree on a number of issues in Nigeria, but there is a national consensus on the fact that PDP elevated corruption to a national culture.
“What is important now is Jonathan explaining to the families of the abducted schoolgirls why as president, he did nothing for two weeks after the Chibok abductions and still refuses to take responsibility for the tragedy up till now — except he continues to blame the Chibok abductions and other failings of his administration on the so-called grand conspiracy against him as he laboriously tries to state in his response to Cameron.
“The current administration’s reactions and actions after the similar and unfortunate Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapping is a pointer to how a responsive government should act.
“That Jonathan government was corrupt was actually half of the story. The full story is that corruption hallmarked the successive 16 years administrations under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It is shameful that anyone is even defending it. Corruption is PDP’s political ideology. This fact is already cast in stone.
Nigerians do not need Cameron or anyone else to tell us how corrupt and ineffectual the PDP era was.
As a consequence, Nigerians voted out the PDP administration in 2015 and elected the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration to clear the mess the 16-year PDP administration left the country. Our resolve to do just that is unshaken”.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 6TH OCTOBER.

THE LIFE OF CHRIST AND HIS CALL ON YOUR LIFE.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love (Ephesians 4:1-2).

The word “vocation” in our opening scripture means “calling.” When you came to Christ, you answered the call. It’s a holy and high calling. You were separated from the world, unto Christ. That’s the reason the Church is called, “The called-out ones.”

Now, the Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, admonishes that you walk worthy of your calling in Christ. You’re to live in a way that’s befitting of someone God has chosen to be His. In other words, live like a Christian!

And who is a Christian? He’s one in whom Christ dwells! You’re to walk in the light of this truth. You’re not “walking worthy” of His call on your life if you permit sin, sickness or failure. You must say “No” to these, and all the works of the evil one. If you’re experiencing challenges in your health or other areas of your life today, it’s not prayer you need. Simply say, “No” to the devil and his works in your life. Insist that your life is for the glory of God, and maintain your confession.

The Bible says, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” (Philemon 1:6). Acknowledge the life of Christ in you, and His call on your life. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 says, “Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power....” Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Dear Father, I fulfil my calling and walk in your prearranged path for my life by the power of the Holy Spirit. I’m guided in wisdom to walk in your perfect will, to walk in health, strength, victory and prosperity, living the transcendent life in Christ, and fulfilling your good pleasure, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Peter 2:9 AMPC But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own [a]purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

6TH OCTOBER.

I affirm that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! I am a legal representative of the heavenly Kingdom, called and separated from the world. I am from above; therefore, I am not subject to the distracting elements and corrupting influences of this world. I belong in God’s Kingdom, where I enjoy the full blessings and privileges of my kingdom inheritance.

I have the life of God in me. I live beyond the limits! Eternal life is working in every fibre of my being, and I am full of the Holy Ghost! I am fully inundated by the power of the Spirit to live beyond obstacles and barriers today! I am a child of the King; success is my birthright, excellence is my calling, and winning is my lifestyle.

I do not fail! I am born of the Word, and my life is shaped and patterned after Jesus. As I study and meditate on His Word, I become like Him more and more. I do the same things He does and gets His kind of results every day. My life only goes in the direction of the Son of God. I am in God's place for my life; I can only be a marvel and an outstanding success, just like Jesus. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning says that 250 illegal revenue collectors have been arrested and charged to court.

Mark Okoye, who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Awka said government would ensure that justice was done to serve as deterrent to erring citizens.

Quote:“We implore the public to shun any act that goes against the developmental vision of the state as the government would not hesitate to lawfully deal with any defaulter,” Okoye said.
The commissioner said that the government under the watch of Chief Willie Obiano is committed to delivering democratic dividends to the people. Okoye said the state government had presented a realistic budget to the state lawmakers for the year 2020 and assured the residents of better days ahead.

He urged all citizens to ensure they played their roles by paying their taxes, dues and levies to enable the government provide basic human amenities for their enjoyment. Okoye said that the state government had implemented the 2019 budget up to 85 per cent and assured that by end of the year, the budget would be reasonably implemented.

“We scaled down on the size of 2020 budget because we are a realistic government and we intend to have a people oriented budget,” he said.Sylvia Nwahukwu-Ngige. Head, Tax Payer Education, Publicity and Enlightenment Team in Anambra state Revenue office, corroborated the claims of the commissioner.
Quote:“Since the arrest, people had been careful by doing the right thing towards government. Our office has since been crowded by people who come to pay or remit their revenue to avoid arrest and shutting down of their business premises,” she said.

Truck driver allegedly beats wife to death for reporting him to her mum (photos)

The Ogun state police command is currently on the trail of a truck driver identified as Kazeem for allegedly beating his wife to death at their residence at Agbalagada compound in Adatan area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

According to eyewitnesses, Kazeem and his wife, Raimot, fought a lot. Recently, the wife threatened she would report him to his mother and he warned her against it and even barred her from going to visit her own mother. Raimot however disobeyed him as she went to  visit her mother who takes care of a boy she had from a previous relationship. While she was with her mother, Kazeem called and instructed her never to return to his home since she disobeyed him. Raimot however went back to his house. They had a heated argument which soon degenerated into a fight. Kazeem unfortunately beat his wife beat to a pulp.

When he noticed she wasn't breathing, he rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Quote:‘’After a private hospital had rejected Raimot because doctors there said she was brought in dead, her husband took her to a public hospital at Ijaiye area of Abeokuta, but doctors again told him to take her body to mortuary because she was dead. ’Before now, she had constantly subjected his late wife to beatings and molestation, so much so that his mother in–law had to invite policemen from Adatan Division to arrest him. He however did not stop to brutalise her despite the warning by the police'' a neighbor said

It was learnt that Kazeem lied to men of a police division at Lafenwa, Abeokuta, that Raimot died after she collapsed while fetching water in the neighbourhood. Family members and neighbours of the deceased however explained to the police that Kazeem actually killed his wife.

Kazeem is currently at large while the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions.

Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi,  said efforts are being made to get Kazeem arrested.

Quote:‘’We are still looking for the suspect, Kazeem. He rushed to the police claiming his wife had an accident. But family members of the deceased and sources in the neighbourhood later revealed that he was actually the one who allegedly beat his wife to death.
The mistake the family members made was to raise the alarm on sighting Kazeem instead of alerting the police to arrest him, which made the suspect to run away. However, we are not going to relent until we arrest him.’’ he said

“You Lied!” – Jonathan Replies David Cameron Over Chibok Girls
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2019, 10:39 PM - No Replies

POLITICSNIGERIA.COM

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has replied Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron over his recent statement that Jonathan did not allow the UK to rescue Chibok Girls from Boko Haram.

In a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, Jonathan wrote;

“I read the comments by former British Prime Minister, David Cameron, in his new book, For the Record, in which he accused me and the Nigerian Government, which I headed, of corruption and rejecting the help of the British Government in rescuing the Chibok Girls, who were kidnapped on April 14, 2014.”

“It is quite sad that Mr. Cameron would say this because nothing of such ever occurred. As President of Nigeria, I not only wrote letters to then Prime Minister David Cameron, I also wrote to the then US President, Barrack Obama, and the then French President, François Hollande, as well as the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, appealing to them for help in rescuing the Chibok Girls.”

“How could I write to appeal for help and then reject the very thing I appealed for?”

“Also, history contradicts Mr. Cameron. On March 8, 2012, when the same Boko Haram linked terrorists abducted a British expatriate named Chris McManus, along with an Italian hostage Franco Lamolinara, in Sokoto, I, as Nigerian President, personally authorised a rescue effort by members of the British military Special Boat Service supported by officers and men of the Nigerian Army, to free the abducted men.”

“So, having set a precedent like that, why would I reject British help in rescuing the Chibok Girls, if it was offered? I also authorised the secret deployment of troops from the United Kingdom, the United States and Israel as a result of the Chibok incident, so how Mr. Cameron could say this with a straight face beats me.”

“Moreover, on March 8, 2017, the British Government of former Prime Minister, Theresa May, in a widely circulated press statement, debunked this allegation and said there was no truth in it after Mr. Cameron had made similar statements to the Observer of the UK.”

“In his book, Mr. Cameron failed to mention that I wrote him requesting his help on Chibok. Why did he suppress that information? I remind him that copies of that letter exist at the State Houses in Nigeria and London. He never called me on the phone to offer any help. On the contrary, I am the one that reached out to him.”

“He accused me of appointing Generals based on political considerations. How could that be when I fired my service chiefs twice in five years, to show that I would not tolerate anything less than meaningful progress in the war on terror.”

“I was completely blind to ethnic or political considerations in my appointments. In civil and military matters, I appointed people that I had never even met prior to appointing them, based on their professional pedigree. Though I was from the South, most of my service chiefs came from the North.”

“I do, however, know that Mr. Cameron has long nursed deep grudges against me for reasons that have been published in various media.”

“On July 24, 2013, while celebrating the passage of the United Kingdom’s Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act, 2013, Mr. Cameron said “I want to export gay marriage around the world”.”

“At that occasion, he boasted that he would send the team that successfully drafted and promoted the Bill, to nations, like Nigeria, saying inter alia:

“I’ve told the Bill team I’m now going to reassign them because, of course, all over the world people would have been watching this piece of legislation”.

As President of Nigeria at that time, I came under almost unbearable pressure from the Cameron administration to pass legislation supporting LGBTQ Same-Sex marriage in Nigeria. My conscience could not stomach that, because as President of Nigeria, I swore on the Bible to advance Nigeria’s interests, and not the interest of the United Kingdom or any foreign power.”

“As such, on Monday, January 13, 2014, I signed the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill into law after the Bill had been passed by an overwhelming bipartisan majority of Nigeria’s parliament, in line with the wishes of the Nigerian people. This happened shortly after a study of 39 nations around the world by the U.S. Pew Research Center came up with a finding which indicated that 98 percent of Nigerians were opposed to the idea of Gay Marriage.”

“Immediately after I took this patriotic action, my government came under almost unbearable pressure from Mr. Cameron, who reached me through envoys, and made subtle and not so subtle threats against me and my government.”

“In fact, meetings were held at the Obama White House and at the Portcullis House in Parliament UK, with the then Nigerian opposition to disparage me, after I had signed the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill into law.

On the issue of corruption, it suffices to say that Mr. Cameron is not as competent as Transparency International, which is globally acknowledged as the adjudicator of who is corrupt and who is not.”

“During my administration, in 2014, Nigeria made her best ever improvement on the annual Transparency International Corruption Perception Index, moving from 144 the previous year, to 136, an 8 point improvement. As a nation, we have not made such improvements on the CPI before or after 2014.”

“In line with these facts, I would urge the public to take Mr. Cameron’s accusations with a grain of salt. I will not be the first person to accuse him of lying on account of this book, and with the reactions in the Uk so far, I definitely will not be the last.”

NANS Released Full Report On Fuoye Crisis, Ban Fayemi and Wife From Schools, Requests For 20 Million Naira For Slain And Injured Students.

NANS REPORT ON THE GRIEVIOUS KILLING OF STUDENTS AT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY, OYE-EKITI.

PREAMBLE:
After three months of darkness, students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti resolved to stage a protest against the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, the disco in charge of that area.
The protest was called at the instance of the students who massively mobilized themselves to express their displeasure and was led by the Students Union Government.
In the early hours of 9th September, 2019, the students had mobilized themselves and gathered at the Ifaki-Ikole-Omuo highway to draw attention to their plight with presence of police officers drawn from divisions under the Police Command, Ekiti State.

The protest ended peacefully around noon and the students dispersed.
Soon after, the convoy of the wife of Ekiti State Governor drove into town and were received by jubilant party members, motorcycle riders and community leaders to the venue of the program Erelu Bisi Fayemi had scheduled to attend at Oye Ekiti.

Prior to her arrival, the security team attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi had been copiously briefed on the protest embarked upon by the students necessitating delay for 2hours.

Upon arrival at the venue of the program, the CSO to the State Government invited the Student Union President of FUOYE for a possible dialogue.
Honouring the invitation, facilitated by a Military personnel (attached to a military check point), an armed Counter Terrorism Unit officer, attached to the Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State approached with a slap and assaulted the Student Union President.
Reportedly, this happened in the presence of the CSO, the Military personnel, FUOYE students and indigenes of Oye Ekiti community who got infuriated by the assault on the Student Union President.

OUR FACT FINDING REVEALS THE FOLLOWING;
*That the students protest of 9th September, 2019 was peaceful.

*That the protest was not targeted at the wife of the governor but the BEDC

*That the students had dispersed before the entrance of Erelu Bisi Fayemi, wife of Ekiti State Governor into Oye community.

*That the people of the community mobilized to welcome the wife of the governor from entrance to the venue of her program without any threat to her person and her entourage

*That the Student Union President was invited from where he had earlier retired to take a rest by the Chief Security Officer to the Ekiti State Governor.

*That an unnamed officer with the Counter Terrorism Unit attached to the Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State did slap and molest the student Union President without any provocation in the presence of the CSO to the governor.

*That the Student Union President left the venue after being pacified by the CSO and the military personnel who had earlier invited him for a meeting with the CSO.

*That due to infuriation by the students and indigenes present during the molestation and assault of the Student Union President by the CTU officer, the atmosphere became tensed and in the ensuing altercations, the wife of the governor abruptly ended her engagement at Oye-Ekiti. Whereas, a simple attention by H.E Erelu Fayemi would have calmed the situation but massive 'force' was deployed by the Counter Terrorism Unit officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi in whisking her away from the venue.

*That the CTU officers employed brute force, shooting sporadically at different directions in a bid to whisk away the Wife of the Governor who was obviously under no threat whatsoever.

*That in the course of shooting sporadically, clear intentions were made by the CTU officers to kill as bullets and tear gas cannisters were fired aiming at harmless students and indigenes.

*That during the shooting, four students were fired, one in the head, another in the hand and the other in the stomach.
*That one indigene was also shot in the buttock while doing legitimate business in his shop

*That while Kehinde Dada died on the spot, Joseph Okonofua was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti where several operations were performed to save his life by the medical team on hand proved abortive.

*That several others were injured, rushed to different hospitals for medical care.
*That one of the victims hit by a canister fired by an armed officer of the CTU was immediately referred to Lagos State Teaching Hospital and currently paralyzed.

*That many of the students and indigenes sustained bullet wounds and varying degrees of injuries some of whom have received treatment and recuperating.

*That both Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua felled by CTU officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi has been buried in Usi-Ekiti, Ekiti State and Ewu, Edo State respectively without any autopsy conducted to them.

THE UNFORTUNATE DENIAL
Despite the murder of two promising students during her political visitation to Oye-Ekiti, the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi rushed to the media upon hearing that casualties have been recorded as a result of her security attaché unprofessionalism, overzealousness and barbarism to allege that the students attacked her convoy and that she only escaped through the grace of God.

Again, the Ekiti State Government hurriedly, without verification and due diligence, through the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Culture, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua laboriously attempted to pull the wool off the eyes of the public by dishing out dishonest views in respect to what transpired; all were aimed at covering up the stark reality of their misdeed.
Painful however, the subtle plans to negate the occurrence and paint a picture of political attack were soon distorted by on the spot video recordings of the brutality.

While many believed that Police officers at the Ekiti State Command precipitated the crisis, NANS investigation revealed that the CTU officers attached to the wife of Ekiti State Governor is not under the control of the Police command.

Whereas, Ekiti State is not listed amongst states under threats of terrorist attack, attaching multitude of CTU officers to an individual is nonetheless viewed by Nigerian students and Ekiti citizens as an abuse of power.

That every attempt has been made by the government and agents in collaboration with the State government at suppressing the truth, intimidating those who spoke against the barbarism and breaking the ranks of the student leadership, her structural organs and active members.
Suffice to say that efforts are still ongoing by the agents of Ekiti State government to declassify genuine efforts by the NANS leadership in seeking justice.

THE KAYODE FAYEMI BROADCAST
There's no gainsaying the fact that Governor John Kayode Fayemi in his broadcast was humane, though an afterthought, He nonetheless failed to acknowledge the pains of the people and families, communities and the University community, NANS and Nigerian students by apologizing on behalf of his wife for the unfortunate brutality on harmless citizens.

Much as the Governor laboured to impress the public with his crafted thoughts, the message failed to situate the reality of the sad occurrence leading to the death of two promising students of FUOYE with his outright emphasis that Erelu Bisi Fayemi, his wife was the victim of the unfortunate brutality. We out of curiosity ask, who was brutal?

INTERVENTION AND VERIFICATION

In response to the call by Nigerians demanding justice for the murdered FUOYE students, the Global President of NANS Danielson Bamidele Akpan led a delegation to Ekiti State on the 15th of September, 2019 to assess the situation.

Until arrival, no remorse was shown by any of the actors in the unfortunate incident. Students were indiscriminately arrested and detained at the Ekiti State Police Command beyond the rightful 24hrs permitted by the law. It took the intervention of the delegation to secure the release of those in detention and retrieve the impounded 'Aluta vehicle' belonging to the Students' Union Government of FUOYE.
The wife of the governor/the Ekiti State government had rather alleged that the students attacked the convoy on that fateful day.
Amongst other places where investigations were covertly done, the leadership in keeping to #JUSTICEFORFUOYE interacted with the following:
The State Security Service, Ekiti State Command, The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Royal Highnesses both at Oye-Ekiti and Usi-Ekiti, The SUG President and executive members of FUOYE, The NANS JCC leadership in Ekiti State, former leaders of NANS in Ekiti State and South Western Nigeria, Parents and families of the murdered students (Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua), indigenes of Oye, Ikole and Usi-Ekiti, Management and Board of Federal Medical Center, Ido-Ekiti, Management and Staff of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, The SA Youth and Student to the Governor of Ekiti State amongst others.
These interactions were quite revealing, enriching and as well informative.

DEMANDS:
*That it is incumbent as a 'moral duty' on the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi to make available the list of Counter Terrorism Unit officers attached to her person and office.

* That Erelu Bisi Fayemi should tell the entire public why she moves in a convoy of CTU officers instead of Special Protection Unit officers designated for the protection of VIP's such as her likes.

*That an apology letter be written by Erelu Bisi Fayemi; published in at least 5 national dailies, 6 television stations with wide coverage and 12 radio stations spread across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and 20 online news medium.

*That the Ekiti State Government should without delay retract statements credited to the Commissioner of Information, Orientation and culture claiming that the wife of the governor and her convoy were attacked by FUOYE students.

*That beyond condolence visits paid to families of Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua, practical effort should be made by the state government to deliberately assuage the grieving families through;
1. Employment into the state civil service at least 2 members of each of the families of the deceased students deemed employable.
2. Immortalization of the slained students.
3. Immediate release of CTU officers attached to the wife of the Ekiti State Governor for prosecution in accordance to the laws.
4. That a judicial commission of inquiry involving all stakeholders including the students, members of the host communities and the deceased families be set up immediately to unravel the cause of the incident with a view to forestalling future occurrence.
5. The Ekiti State Government should immediately pay the gratuity and pension of the parents of Kehinde Dada which they have not paid for Seven Years after retirement.
6. That all the medical bills of the survivors be paid with Twenty million Naira (N20m) each as compensation.
*That the Ekiti State Government should as a matter of urgency provide transformers to communities hosting the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti to facilitate regular supply of electricity.
That the Benin Electricity Distribution Company should show efficiency and ensure supply of electricity to the campuses of FUOYE both at Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti and other communities where the students reside.

*That no attempt should be made at pointing accusations at the Students Union Government of FUOYE, any of her executives and or any students in relation to the protest which is entirely not connected with the brute of the overzealous CTU officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

*That the IGP should as a matter of urgency reconstitute the Police Students Relations Committee who can interface and nip in the bud the incessant killing of innocent Nigerian students by trigger happy Police officers and create a student’s friendly police.

*That the Police authorities should bar police officers such as SARS, CTU e.t.c other than the regular police from meddling in student matters especially on campuses or communities hosting students.

*That the NANS hereby places a ban on the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and her spouse from entering, attending or participating in any activity(ies) on any campus of any Tertiary Institution in Nigeria pending the resolution of all issues in contention.
*That NANS demands that all of these demands are met before 10th October, 2019.

Quote:Troops of Special Response Area(SRA) Pulka under the NA Super Camp Gwoza, in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force have neutralised three (3) Boko Haram terrorists in a successful in Maiduguri.

The Nigerian Army made this known in a statement on Friday.

In the statement shared on its official Twitter page, it said the neutralization members of the Boko Haram and the death of one of the terrorists came following credible information from some patriotic Nigerians about terrorists movement along Banki Road Junction, Pulka in Gwoza general area.

The information prompted the troops of SRA, Pulka under the NA Super Camp Gwoza, in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) conducted a successful night ambush on Thu 3 Oct 2019, which resulted in the neutralization of 3 terrorists, recovery of 2 AK 47 Rifles and 2 X bicycles.

It was gathered that unconfirmed number of terrorists were reportedly wounded during the ambush. There is no casualty on the NA or Civilian JTF.

Similarly, at about 2250 hours on 3rd October 2019, in what seems like a reprisal attack to avenge the lost of their members in the ambush conducted by the troops, some marauders/criminals woefully attacked the Delta Company Location of the SRA at Pulka.

Consequently, troops swiftly responded by effectively repelling the attack, one bandit lost his life and one Ak 47 rifle was recovered. No casualty was recorded by the Civ JTF or the troops.

Commending the troops, the Acting GOC 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation LAFIYA DOLE Brig Gen AK Ibrahim urged them to remain committed and unwavering in the struggle to end the insurgency soon.

24-year-old Ghanaian fraudster jailed after being arrested with details of 35,000 bank cards and 500,000 phone numbers

A 24-year-old Ghanaian fraudster identified as Emanuel Poku has been handed a 2 year 9 months jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the UK telecommunications industry and UK banking industry, possession of an article used in fraud and possession of a false passport.

The suspect who had 500,000 phone numbers and 35,000 bank card numbers linked to more than £2 million of reported losses on laptops and mobiles at the time of his arrest, funded luxury holidays with proceeds of his crime.

The Enfield resident tricked customers into giving away their financial and personal details by sending out thousands of “smishing” text messages imitating banks and mobile phone companies. He also used ‘sim swaps’ to complete fraudulent transfers and purchases on customers’ accounts.

More than £12,000 was found in the home of Emmanuel Poku who also committed a £50,000 fraud between January and April 2019.  The convict was arrested on April 1 after being busted through collaborative intelligence work between the DCPCU and mobile phone companies.

The City of London Police said over £5.8 million worth of fraud was disrupted or prevented as a result of its investigation.

Quote:Detective Sergeant Ben Hobbs said: “Emanuel Poku was committing fraud on an industrial scale, funding luxury holidays around the world by stealing money from unsuspecting victims. His devices had been used to send ‘smishing’ text messages to thousands of customers, trying to trick them into giving away their details before using Sim swaps to complete fraudulent transactions.”

He added: “We would urge people to always be on the lookout for this kind of scam. Never automatically click on a link in an unexpected text message or email, as it could be a fraudster trying to harvest your personal and bank details.”

Telecoms operators get marching order on falling telephony standards

[Image: telecom-mast.jpg]telecom mast

Telecommunications operators in the country have been handed a new order to either improve telephony services or face fresh forms of sanctions.

The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, gave the warning at the weekend in Abuja, insisting that operators must to do everything possible to improve service delivery to the consumers on their various networks.

The EVC, who spoke through the Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau (CAB), NCC, Felicia Onwuegbuchulam, said though the Commission recognizes the existence of some challenges confronting the industry, operators are expected to strive to always improve service for the over 175 million subscribers in the country.

“Where a service provider continues to fail to improve services to the detriment of the consumers, the Commission will apply appropriate regulatory actions and sanctions against such service provider,” Danbatta added.
Danbatta also affirmed that “in the course of regulating the industry, the NCC had always recognised the importance of the consumer in the telecom sector and the fact that consumers deserve to have value for the money spent on telecoms services.”

According to the EVC, the empowerment and protection of the consumer from unfair practices of service providers and others is a central item on the eight-Point Agenda.

The NCC Chief Executive informed consumers to always call the NCC toll-free number 622 to lodge unresolved or unsatisfactorily-resolved complaints earlier reported to their respective service providers so that NCC can institute necessary intervention on their behalf for redress.

Danbatta also encouraged consumers to make use of the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) 2442 Short Code to control unsolicited text messages instead of just complaining about unsolicited messages.

He advised that instead of just complaining it is more profitable than consumers take advantage of the facilities and channels of redress provided by NCC to tackle the challenges of telecom services. Danbatta also praised telecom consumers for their patronage and urged all citizens to support the Commission in its desire to address the challenges of telecommunication, expand telecom services and increase the sector’s contribution to the nation’s economy.

Government throws weight behind LNG to power plants

[Image: Dangote-Oil-Refinery-Company.jpg]Modular Refinery

In line with its ambition to supply power to Nigerians, the Federal Government has shown interest in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a source of power to deprived plants in the country.

According to the Federal Government, the idea is to focus on new avenues to supply parts of the country that has no pipelines to carry the gas to the power plants in the area, especially the North.
The Minister of State for Power, Godwin Agba, noted that the wait for pipelines to be constructed in the northern part of the country would not spur industrialisation for economic benefits, hence the thought to partner with operators to facilitate the transportation of LNG to power plants in the northern part of the country via road.

He advanced that the government has an interest in such investments because when the facility, which has three trains already, begins full operations, plants in Kaduna and Kano can be supplied, adding that it would be a great relief for his ministry, aside boosting power generation.

“Kaduna power plant could use LNG from here of course, but I am not in the capacity to commit, but we would patronise Greenville to the best of our ability if they keep to the terms of agreements, so hopefully we are in partnership,” the minister remarked.

Agba, at the tour of the facility at Rumuji, Port Harcourt, said he would stop at nothing to facilitate the progress of feeding Kaduna power plant from Greenville LNG, and he promised to fight within his power any hindrance to the project.
The management of Greenville, however, noted that unlike before when the government didn’t realise the potentials in harnessing LNG, it is a step in the right direction for them now to begin to look at solving the nation’s electricity problems from another angle.

Explaining further on the quest to bridge the energy gap in the North, Greenville Chairman, Eddy van den Broeke, maintained that there is a social-economic problem in the country where the north has no gas pipelines and are handicapped, and the abandonment of the Kaduna plant by General Electric (GE) has really necessitated the supply.

He observed that the claim that electricity can’t be supplied nationwide would be erased when the government promotes more investment to harness LNG in Nigeria, adding that if such projects can be replicated, Nigeria’s power problem would gradually be solved.

Van den Broeke, further revealed that full operations would commence by January 2020, when the second train would have been functional, while train one is set to start running by the end of November.

FG affirms removal of VAT on cooking gas

[Image: cooking-gas.jpg]Cooking gas

The Federal Government has confirmed the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Nigeria, otherwise known as cooking gas.

This means that the cost of LPG, commonly referred to as cooking gas, will be relatively stable, thus attracting many investors and users in the country.
The Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, who disclosed this at the stakeholders’ meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in Abuja, recently said the measure was targeted at growing the LPG sector.

The Federal Government had earlier in the year promised to remove VAT on cooking gas to encourage utilisation of the product in many households.

Osinbajo had explained that specifically, for household cooking, the present administration is targeting a 40 percent adoption rate (i.e. 13.8m households) in 5 years, and 73 percent adoption in 10 years (33.3m households).

“We believe that the sub-sector can create up to 2 million new direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria. Our determination to prioritise the LPG sector development culminated in the Federal Executive Council’s approval of the National Gas policy in 2017, with dedicated input for the enhancement of the LPG sub-sector. Our driving vision has been to transform the sub-sector from a commodity sector based on export to a value creation sector based on domestic utilisation and industrialisation,” he said.

The President, Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA), Nuhu Yakubu said: “The Nigeria LP Gas Association is the umbrella body of all stakeholders in the LP Gas sector in Nigeria. The primary objective of the Association is to promote the use of LP Gas in Nigeria at affordable costs.
Findings by The Guardian had shown that LPG business will likely be boosted in Nigeria, as the Nigerian LNG Limited, a major local producer has indicated interest to increase supply, while demand for LPG is on the rise.

In a message obtained from its website, the company stated: “NLNG commenced the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), otherwise known as cooking gas, to the domestic market in 2007 when refineries became challenged and supply was grossly inadequate. Since then, the issue of inadequate supply has become a thing of the past.

“The intervention, which is in line with company’s vision of helping to build a better Nigeria, has significantly contributed to the stimulation and development of the domestic LPG market in Nigeria and has effectively brought down the price of cooking gas from over N7, 000 in 2007 to less than N3, 500 per 12.5kg cylinder today.
“NLNG is committed to delivering 350,000 tonnes of LPG into the Nigerian market annually and has signed Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPAs) with fifteen off-takers (all Nigerian companies) for the lifting of LPG for the domestic market.”

‘Terminal decommissioning puts $400 million investment, jobs at risk’

[Image: container.jpg]Terminal. PHOTO: Jumia

Although the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), said it decommissioned the BUA Ports and Terminals Limited, operator of Terminal B, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for security reasons, BUA described the action as contradictory to the ease of doing business agenda while putting about $400 million worth investment at risk.
With delays in kicking off its production plant, operators of the terminal said raw materials needed for production remained at sea while over 1,000 direct job losses will be recorded if the bickering lingers.
The Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, had the agency, as a responsible government organisation, took the step to save the lives and limbs of those working at the terminal.
However, the General Manager, BUA Ports & Terminals, Mohammed Ibrahim, disagreed, insisting that NPA was abdicating its responsibility.

Ibrahim emphasised the need to revisit the terms of concessioning so that parties can address issues as well as their responsibilities.

“As things are, average monthly revenue of $.5million is being lost, while many dock workers have since been left idle. Similarly, tank farms associated with the terminal are equally suffering as they have to re-route their products through other terminals.

“Under the agreement between the parties, NPA has an obligation, among others, to dredge the port and repair the quay apron of the Terminal, which responsibility it has failed to perform till date.

“The background to the issues between the NPA and BUA Ports and Terminals Limited has its root in the Lease Agreement between the Nigerian Port Authority, the Bureau of Public Enterprises on one hand, both representing the Federal Government of Nigeria, and BUA Ports and Terminal Limited on the other hand. The Lease Agreement provides for mutual rights and obligations, and makes provision for dispute resolution mechanism, which explicitly states that dispute shall be resolved by arbitration.

“It should be stated that the repairs required was as a result of the nefarious activities of hoodlums and vandals who had over a period of time cut the pipes and steel beam of the berths thereby affecting their stability, among others. The activities of these hoodlums and vandals were at various times reported to the NPA, which has the responsibility and obligation under the Agreement to provide security for the Ports. The NPA did nothing. Indeed BUA in its determined effort to tackle these issues caused some arrests to be made and some of the suspects prosecuted, but NPA as owners of the Ports showed little or no interest in the prosecution and the case was lost. Obviously, if the NPA had been alive to its responsibilities and provided the required security, the activities of the vandals would have been prevented.

“It is important to stress that the repair and reconstruction required for the part of the Jetty in question does not require a decommissioning or closure of the entire Terminal. The carrying out of the remedial works if approved by the management of NPA would have remedied the defects stated in our letter to NPA and averted any risk of loss of property and lives.  It is apparent that NPA is using the said letter by BUA Ports and Terminals as a subterfuge for an effective termination and closure of the Terminal in violation of the order of the court restraining NPA from carrying into effect the purported Notice of Termination.

“It is also germane to point out that under the Lease Agreement, NPA has an obligation, among others, to dredge the port and repair the quay walls and apron of the Terminal which responsibility it has failed to perform till date. The dredging of the port is a sine qua non condition for the effective reconstruction and rehabilitation of the jetty given the age of the port (over 100 years old),” Ibrahim added.

59 years after, stock market still bogged down by neglect, crisis of confidence, illiquidity

Presently, increased volatility and illiquidity have continued to trigger persistent downturn in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), raising more questions regarding the timeframe for the end of the current weak performance.
Indeed, the persistent apathy and waning investor confidence that have bedeviled the nation’s stock market in the past few years continued to reflect on market indices and trigger persistent fall in share prices of listed firms as most bluechip stocks have fallen 10 year low.

According to the NSE, polls trading figures from market operators on their Domestic and Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) flows, domestic transactions in the nation’s bourse decreased by whooping 66.68 per cent from N3.556 trillion in 2007 to N1.185 trillion in 2018.

The country’s capital market has continued to trail behind that of peer countries. The flagship securities exchange, the NSE, is small compared to the major international exchanges, with a total market capitalisation of about N13 trillion, compared to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) for example with equities capitalisation alone a little shy of $1 trillion representing over 280 per cent of South Africa’s GDP and over 380 listed companies not to mention the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) whose market capitalisation is about $21 trillion with more than 2000 listed companies.

The current size of the capital market constrains its role in national economic development. Market liquidity as measured by trading volume and turnover is comparatively low.

The issuer base is not diversified. More specifically, industry composition in the stock market is concentrated in a few sectors namely Dangote cement, Nestle MTN Nigeria and Airtel Africa.

The major equity index (NSEASI) has significant weights in banking stocks, which are sensitive to business cycles. In contrast, agriculture and technology sectors critical for economic diversification take up a much smaller proportion.
Most of the systemically important corporations such as the International Oil are not listed on the stock market.
Foreign investors are significant players in the equities market often dictating the pace of market activity.
This leaves the market vulnerable to external shocks. Local institutional investors such as pension funds and mutual funds are less active in the equities market with asset allocation concentrated in government bonds and Treasury Bills generally considered safe and liquid.

How the nation’s stock market came into existence

The Nigerian stock market was established in September 15, 1960 with the establishment of Lagos Stock Exchange, which became operational in June 5, 1961.

In December 5, 1977, following the recommendation of the government financial system review committee of 1976, the Lagos Stock Exchange was renamed and reconstituted into the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
It is worthy of note that since 1977, there has been a decline in the share of government stock in the stock exchange.

The growth of government stock started decreasing while industrial equities and bonds as well as second tier securities market continued to increase yearly.
But the internationalisation of the market in 1995 accentuated the interest of the private sector investment in the stock market. Conspicuously, as government stock traded in millions during 1995 , industrial equities accelerated to billions .

NSE recorded N29.07 billion total assets in 2018

[Image: Nigerian_Stock_Exchange_7D_0098-e1486334799823.jpg][FILES] Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has increased its total assets to N29.07 billion in its 2018, against N26.69 billion recorded in the corresponding period in 2017.

Specifically, the Exchanges financial performance for the year ended, December 31, 2018, showed that total assets grew from N26.69 billion in 2017 to N29.07 billion during the year under review.

However, the year 2018 ended with an eight per cent decline in group revenues to N7.67 billion.

Speaking at the 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM), in Lagos Monday, the Chief Executive Officer of the NSE, Oscar Onyema, attributed the decline to uncertainty, as investors sought towards more guaranteed investment asset classes.

Onyema added that the listing revenue stream was the most impacted with a drop of 21 per cent to N1.4 billion during the period in review.

He said transaction fees influenced by the capital market trends within the period, declined to N3 .3 billion during the period under review.

According to him, the Exchange witnessed a 47.6 per cent increase in foreign outflows of N642.65 billion compared with N435.31 billion in the corresponding period of 2017.

He attributed the development to flight to quality by foreign investors to higher-yielding assets with lower risks in developed countries.

Onyema noted that this was intensified by the political risks associated with the Nigerian presidential elections, noting that the Federal Government during the period borrowed N1.2 trillion to finance fiscal and infrastructure deficits.

Onyema added that state governments and other corporates also raised a total of N157 billion from NSE during the period under review.

“We believe this level of activity validates our position as a competitive capital-raising platform for both business and government issuers to finance various economic activities.

In the 2019 outlook, he explained that NSE’s future revenues and net income would continue to be influenced by key domestic and international market forces such as pricing, product features and regulatory changes.

Onyema said that it would strive to finalise the Exchange demutualusation process, boost the fixed income market segment and establish its exchange-traded derivatives market.

“In order to properly serve our customers, we intend to measure our brand awareness and perception, which will inform our communications and engagement initiatives.

“We are confident that pursuing these initiatives in 2019 will boost the competitiveness of the NSE at a time when the Nigerian capital market is at an inflection point,” he said.

The President, National Council, NSE, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, said the Exchange maintained a focus on transforming and reforming the market to be more efficient during the period under review.

According to Ogunbanjo, the NSE will amongst other priorities, consolidate on milestones achieved so far while executing on their 2018-2021 strategy, which is focused on customer centricity, market development, and innovation.

“We are currently at the approval stages of our growth board, a new marketplace to address the growing needs of start-ups, provide exit opportunities for investors and reduce the cost of funding.

“In line with our desire to increase financial inclusion and unlock dormant capital for economic growth and development, we intend to intensify our promotion of the growth and development of the Islamic finance industry within the Nigerian capital markets.”

He pointing out that the NSE will continue to intensify efforts with stakeholders to develop new financial instruments and maximise organisational value.

Ogunbanjo noted that throughout the year, the Exchange also focused on transforming and reforming the market to be more efficient.

He further said: “We expanded our focus on retail investor activity and in positioning the Exchange to deploy innovation to be agile, offering smart products and services.

“In 2018, we witnessed the Debt Management Office (DMO), list the pioneer N10.69 billion Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Sovereign Green Bond, and a N100 billion FGN ljarah Sukuk Bond. This further asserted our aspiration, as the platform for both the public and private sector to raise and to access capital, encouraging financial inclusion.”

Six more countries okay single transport market agenda for Africa

Association of African Airlines (AFRAA), Aaron Munetsi
The chances of a Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) have brightened as six new countries endorsed open skies agenda for the continent.

While two of the new entrants had already signed, bringing the signatories to 29, four others are due to make official submissions this month.

The Director of the Association of African Airlines (AFRAA), Aaron Munetsi, who disclosed this recently in Lagos, said the continent was more on the verge of a single air transport market.

Munetsi said with 33 out of 54 African countries signing the treaty, “we have just crossed the Rubicon, and we are looking forward to the day when all countries will sign up.”

Recall that Nigeria, and 22 other countries, signed the SAATM treaty in 2018. The pact aims to grant unfettered access and multiple destinations to any city of countries under the arrangement, as part of African Union’s (AU) move to improve connectivity and integrate African countries.

Among the signatories are: Benin, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Capo Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, and Zimbabwe.

Munetsi said the open skies agenda holds the key to unlocking the potential of African air transport market, to put an end to the “embarrassing” statistics coming from the region’s aviation.

He noted that the continent, with no fewer than 62 airlines, 419 airports and 817 aircraft could only account for 88 million passengers in 2018, “because we are still not considered as a top destination for tourism.”

“Not only that, SAATM is the bedrock of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA), because to do business, we need to travel. Only 19 per cent of African trade is within Africa. It means that we are busy exporting our wealth. Is it any wonder that we are poor?

“Why are we stopping other Africans that are bringing in money from coming to our country? When you charge $150 visa fee, is that out of policy or poverty? That is why we need SAATM.

“Right now, 80 per cent of African traffic is by non-African carriers. It tells us that others are competing against us for our market. But if we sit back and do nothing, there may be no future for us,” Munetsi said.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), in Montreal, Canada, said the regional liberalisation efforts of African states could be used as incentives to achieve the global free market access.

Sirika said the liberalisation efforts in Africa had already been yielding benefits, including increased manual traffic, and foreign airline traffic in the country.

“Nigeria has been a great supporter of liberalisation, and as a continued champion of liberalisation efforts in Africa through the implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision (YD) and SAATM, I wish to call on ICAO to continue to support the regional liberalisation efforts of states as they could be used as incentives to achieve global multilateral achievement on liberalisation of market access.”

“I am happy to inform you that Nigeria’s efforts at liberalisation have led to a significant increase in the operations of foreign airlines utilisation so far. Our airports have manual traffic growth of over eight per cent. Today, aviation in Nigeria is the second-fastest growing industry after water and we recorded 12.6 per cent growth this quarter,” Sirika said.

Boeing to inspect older 737 planes after serial cracks discovery

Hundreds of older Boeing Co. 737 NG aircraft globally may have to be urgently inspected in the coming days after the discovery of cracks in a part of the plane that holds the wings to the fuselage.

The cracks were discovered in three 737-800s being converted from passenger planes to cargo aircraft, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), said in a notice to international operators, Tuesday. Each of the planes had been used for more than 35,000 flights, the FAA notice said.

Boeing has determined that its existing inspection routines for the planes aren’t adequate to find the cracking, so the company is developing new routines to ensure the issue doesn’t threaten flight safety, according to the notice. The company is also working on repair instructions and producing spare parts.

“Boeing has notified the FAA and been in contact with 737 NG operators about a cracking issue discovered on a small number of airplanes undergoing modifications,” the company said. “No in-service issues have been reported.”

The cracking is considered an urgent issue, and under the expected FAA order, older planes will have to be inspected within a week, said a person who wasn’t authorised to discuss the matter and asked not to be named. The agency directive is due to be issued within days.

The 737 NG, or Next Generation, aircraft include the 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900.The plane’s latest version, known as the 737 Max, isn’t affected. The more efficient Max aircraft are grounded worldwide following a pair of fatal crashes in Indonesia, and Ethiopia.

Some airlines have already begun performing inspections. Southwest Airline Co. Chief Executive Officer, Gary Kelly, said Monday in a notice to employees that the carrier so far hasn’t discovered any cracks and is hopeful the issue won’t alter its flight schedule.

The part, known as a pickle fork because of its resemblance to the kitchen utensil, is part of the assembly that is used to attach the plane’s wings. An FAA order only applies to U.S. carriers, but regulators in other nations typically follow the agency’s lead on such issues.

Kidnappers Of 6 Kaduna Schoolgirls and 2 Staff Demand 50M Ransom

Governor Nasir El-Rufai says the gunmen who kidnapped six female students and two staff members from their hostels at the Engravers College in Kaduna state yesterday October 3rd, have made a ransom demand.

Briefing newsmen on efforts being made to rescue the abducted students, the governor who spoke to journalists in Abuja today, said the suspects have made contacts with parents of the abducted students demanding ransom for the release of their wards.

“They have made a demand for money and that is being negotiated,” the governor said

A mother of one of the kidnapped pupils says her daughter called her earlier today with a strange number, weeping and pleading for her to do all within her power to rescue her.

“My daughter called me early Friday morning on a phone number I didn’t know. She was crying and sounded frightened.” the distraught mother told AFP in an interview

The state police command says it is working to ensure the safe return of the pupils.

Border Closure: Customs Seizes 1,072 Vehicles, 19,000 Bags Of Foreign Rice
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2019, 10:25 AM - No Replies

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), says it has seized no fewer than 1,072 vehicles from suspected smugglers since the closure of Nigerian borders with neighbouring countries.

NCS Public Relations’ Officer, Mr Joseph Attah made the disclosure on Friday in Katsina during a sensitisation programme on the Border Drill Operation.

He said that the vehicles were seized while trying to cross into the country through illegal routes.

Attah said that over 19,000 bags of foreign rice and 4,765 jerry cans of petrol were also seized adding that two fuel tankers were also impounded.

The PRO revealed that thousands of ammunition were seized, while 317 suspects were arrested during the period.

He said that 131 bags of NPK fertilisers, which would have been used to make explosive device were seized, while 146 illegal immigrants without genuine travel documents were arrested.

He pointed out that the closure had helped in ensuring security for the citizens as well as improved the nation’s economy.

“Anytime you buy foreign rice, you have empowered foreign farmers, while our farmers are suffering in spite of government interventions like Anchor Borrower, which is aimed at boosting rice production.

“We are now like candles burning ourselves and lightening others,”he said.

He, however, justified why the government launched the ongoing Border Drill Operation to check the menace of smuggling and illegal immigrants into the country.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Armayau Rimaye, said that the country has potentials for self sufficiency in food production.

He said that such could only be achieved if Nigerians continue to support government policies like the Border Drill Operation

Ayo Adesanya: At 50, I Still Love Sex And Want To Marry Again
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2019, 10:24 AM - No Replies

Quote:Ayo Adesanya, an actress, director and producer, with over two decades and half experience in the industry doesn’t look 50, reasons she is set to give marriage another shot, after her first trial packed up years ago.

The mother of one shares with https://pearlsnews.com/ what she expects from a man who would be lucky to walk her down the aisle again and as well her love for s3x.

“I’m willing to give another person one last chance. Now, I am 50. I want to let go. I want to give marriage another try. If I get the right person, I’ll get married again. Nobody is perfect but I need someone that can balance me up. He has to be God fearing, romantic and have some money. Romance is very important. I want an extremely romantic man. God is a good God. He knows what I want, and I believe that he would send him my way.

Asked how she feels at 50 and lessons learned, the curvaceous veteran actress asserted that nothing has changed about her.

“Life at 50, nothing has changed. It is still same me. But mentally, I’m more matured. I have learned to be more humble. Humility pays. People you don’t even know, knows you and watch all your moves. I’m not gym person, I eat anything but I drink water a lot. That’s my beauty secret.”

On sex and controversy, Ayo Adesanya who has managed to maintain a clean slate in a scandal filled industry clearly stated that she doesn’t like drama.

“It is not easy to maintain a clean state. I don’t like drama. Even if you check my social media page, I don’t like drama at all. I also learned not to put everything about me on social media. Some would post photos when they go to toilet, when they eat, and other unnecessary things, that’s where the whole drama starts.

On sex, we all humans, everybody likes sex. This is what humans do, they eat, have sex and sleep. If I don’t have sex, how would i have my son. But they are certain things one can’t bring out or flaunt outside, even if you are nymphomaniac, once you are outside you control your urge”, Ayo Adesanya added.

Sylvia Ukaatu: Blood Oath I Took At 18 Has Ruined My Life

Desperate to get married and start up a family early, Sylvia Ukaatu got entangled with blood oath with her lover but unfortunately that one ignorant move backfired and she’s full of regrets.

In a chat with pearlsnews.com, the actress recalled how the journey of her heartbreaks started at 18.

“It all started when I was 18 year old. I fell in love, deeply in love. I was so carried away at that tender age. I was lured into a blood oath with my then lover. I never knew the repercussions behind such move. I was only young, naïve and in love.
We played along. I was happy. I was planning to settle down.

Until, love became sour. I tried to walk away, I begged to be freed but the guy refused, so I kept to myself and stared living life to the fullest. Even when he traveled out of the country, I encountered so many failed relationships without knowing what was behind it. Suitors were coming but on the day of the introduction, they would cancel. I waited for many years for him to come back. But it never happened.

I desperately needed to start a family, but that wasn’t forthcoming. I tried so many relationships, but they all failed,” she said amidst uncontrollable tears.

She continued: “The guy later came back last year and we spoke at length. I told him we should break the oath if he is no longer interested in getting married to me but he ignored me.
Then, few months ago, my brother called me to search for his (My fiancé) name on Facebook that the said guy just got married. I quickly rushed to Facebook and checked.

I was shocked, but I laughed over it. But I can still feel the pains. Right deep inside my heart. I want to warn our young ones out there. Love is not enough for blood oath. He deceived and used me.

Hundreds of young transgender people seeking help to return to their original sex

Hundreds of young transgender people are reportedly seeking help to return to their original sex.

According to a charity being set up to help them, many members of the trans community are detransitioning and the numbers may increase further.

Sky News reports that the number of young people seeking gender transition is at an all-time high with very few who may later regret their decision.

28-year-old Charlie Evans identified as male for nearly 10 years. Last year, she detransitioned and went public with her story and said she was stunned by the number of people she discovered in a similar position.

"I'm in communication with 19 and 20-year-olds who have had full gender reassignment surgery who wish they hadn't, and their dysphoria hasn't been relieved, they don't feel better for it," she says. "They don't know what their options are now."

Charlie also revealed that she has been contacted by "hundreds" of people seeking help,  30 people alone in her area of Newcastle.

"I think some of the common characteristics are that they tend to be around their mid-20s, they're mostly female and mostly same-sex attracted, and often autistic as well."

Charlie is now launching a charity called The Detransition Advocacy Network.

Sky News spoke with one person who contacted Charlie's network for help. The young lady who does not want to be identified had her name changed to Ruby.

Ruby who is now 21 but first began identifying as male at 13. After taking testosterone her voice got a lot deeper, she grew facial hair and her body also changed.

In May, the lady started growing doubts she had been harbouring about her transition. She has now made the decision to come off testosterone and detransition to identify as female.

"I didn't think any change was going to be enough in the end and I thought it was better to work on changing how I felt about myself, than changing my body," says Ruby.

"I've seen similarities in the way I experience gender dysphoria, in the way I experience other body image issues."

She added: "When I was at my gender clinic to get referred for hormones, we had a session where I went over my mental health issues and I told them about my eating disorder and they didn't suggest that that could maybe connected with my gender dysphoria," .

"For everyone who has gender dysphoria, whether they are trans or not, I want there to be more options for us because I think there is a system of saying, 'okay here's your hormones, here's your surgery, off you go'. I don't think that's helpful for anyone."

Boko Haram attack Chibok community again, set houses on fire.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Friday, October 4th reportedly launched an attack on Mifa, a village in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to reports, several houses were said to have been razed during the attack by the insurgents, who arrived at about 8pm.

“They are burning houses as I speak to you, many of them arrived with motorcycles and started attacking the village,” a source said. Adding that many of the villagers have escaped while the attack has caused panic in the whole of Chibok and neighbouring LGAs.

Quote:“They have burnt so many houses especially because it is night and the terrain of the place. We don’t know of any casualty yet. The troops just arrived although the insurgents are still inside the villages.”
Mifa, eight kilometres away from Chibok town, is the last settlement which shares a border with the dreaded Sambisa forest. The attack comes amid continued claims by Nigerian authorities that the war against Boko Haram which has lasted a decade, has been largely successful.

10 soldiers allegedly detained since July without trial for protesting inhumane treatment

10 soldiers attached to the 143 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have reportedly been in detention since July 15 for allegedly protesting against poor feeding, lack of special promotion and poor welfare on the battlefield.

The soldiers who were inducted into operation Lafiya Dole in Adamawa State on November 30, 2014, and subsequently advanced to Madagali and Limankara in Borno State, made the complaint on social media. They raised an alarm of overstaying in their unit for over four years without rotation as against the two-year rotational principle in the embattled North-East region.

Punch reported that the posts which were shared on social media prompted an investigation and detention of the soldiers linked to the posts it.

Quote:“However, on July 15, 2019 when 144 Battalion finally changed the 143 battalions from operation back to their unit as a result of the said articles, the 10 soldiers in the unit were held back and subsequently arrested and accused of masterminding the write-up on the grounds that they had earlier decried their poor feeding in a WhatsApp group,” a source said.

There are fears that the soldiers who have been moved to 7 Division Military Police guardroom in Borno State might have a prolonged detention without trial as President Buhari has allegedly been antagonistic against dissenting voices and criticisms.

The Lagos State  police have arrested and arraigned a 29-year-old man that disguises as a prostitute to defraud unsuspecting club-goers.

Victor Monday who was arrested by police officers from Mushin Police Station for giving no genuine reason for being out by 12am at Ogunmokun Street, was in a female costume waiting for “a client” by the roadside when he was nabbed.

He was kept in the female cell until he got busted by a policeman on inspection. His beards aroused suspicion and a search revealed that he wore a wig, makeup and also had padded breasts. A police source said he blamed his fraudulent acts on not being employed.

Quote:“His mode of operation was to go to clubs at night and look for men he would spend the night with while disguising like a woman. He would dance around to attract men to himself. Whoever is interested in spending the night with him would approach him.
“He would collect some money from his unsuspecting victim as part payment for his service and have fun on his bill. While they were drinking and wining, he would tell the man that he wanted to urinate and use that opportunity to run away. He said he made between N7,000 and N10,000 per night,” the source said.

Confessing to the crime, the Rivers State indigene said he went into crime in 2018, got arrested by the police but secured his freedom after some his church members secured his bail.

Quote:He said, “I came to Lagos last year and was squatting around. When it was night, I would look for a hidden place to dress like a woman and go to any club to dance as a woman.  Men who have feelings for me would give me money, but I don’t follow them to hotels.  I managed to run away.
“At times, I made N8,000 per day. I was going to a nightclub on September 15 when police arrested me. I told them my name is Joy, but later one of them discovered that I am a man. I do this because I don’t have a job.”

The charge sheet against Victor who was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on four counts bordering on impersonation and fraud, read in part;

Quote:“That you, Victor Monday, on September 15, 2019, at 12.10am, on Ogunmokun Street, Akala area, Mushin, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did indecently act by presenting yourself as a woman in order to obtain money from members of the public, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 380 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 5TH OCTOBER.

WORDS ARE “THINGS”

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24).

Things” in the scripture above is translated from the Greek word “logos,” which is translated “word” in John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word….” In the verses preceding our theme verse, there had been prophetic “words” about the fierce persecutions the Apostle Paul would face in Jerusalem. In spite of everything that had been said, Paul submitted, “None of these things move me....” He referred to the words that had been spoken as “things.”….”

He could have as well said, “None of these words move me.” That’s because in the Kingdom of God, words are things; they’re like spiritual particles; spiritual substance, and have spiritual tangibility. Every word that comes out of your mouth is a “thing” that’ll never be destroyed, because it’s of spiritual origin. When it goes out of you, it represents you everywhere. The only thing that can destroy and render it powerless is another word from you.

Jesus said, “Any word that you speak that’s useless, you’ll give account of it in the day of judgement” (Matthew 12:36). That tells you the power and importance of words; they’re of spiritual value. How you form and use them is your responsibility for which you’ll give account.

So, as a child of God, your life is really up to you. You create your situation, either good or bad. If you know that the last ten years haven’t been as beautiful as God would have them, you can change things now, and recreate your next ten years to be what God has destined for you.

It makes no difference what your struggles in life have been; you can recreate your world, by your words. Jesus said you shall have what you say (Mark 11:23). That’s where your life, and the power to shape it aright is—words! Speak the right words (God’s Word) about your life and situation.

CONFESSION

The Word of God is in my heart and in my mouth, even the word of truth which I’ve received. My words are potent, bringing forth victories, increase, promotion and abundance for me. My life is the testimony of God’s grace, glory and excellence. Praise God!

#TALKINGSESSION

5TH OCTOBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Spirit is alive in me. Every thing in me is under the influence of the Holy Ghost; thus, I am making progress, far ahead of my competitors, detractors and adversaries.

I am guided by Your Spirit, who also has beautified my life and made me the testimony of Your righteousness and grace. I am an offspring of the Word and my profiting through the Word is undeniable! Today and always, I go out with joy and I'm led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills break forth before me in singing and all the trees of the field clap their hands. Hallelujah!

I win everyday by Your Spirit that is at work in me. I am a success, and my path is as a shining light, shining brighter and brighter unto the perfect day! Every step I take is a step of progress, prosperity, success and greatness, in Jesus' Name. Amen!

I teach people how to make love and enjoy sex" Nigerian adult film maker opens up on how she combines her religion with her porn business (video)

Sex educator Seyi Hunter disclosed for the first time the reason why she began an adult film business in Nigeria and how she handles her unconventional profession and her religion.

Seyi, who is an actress and also makes pornography movies to teach her viewers the practical aspect of lovemaking, said she began making porn because she enjoys talking about sex and wanted to teach people to have sex properly.

The sex vlogger told LITV: "I teach people how to make love and enjoy sex."

She said she began with her sex vlog where she speaks about sex, but with time, her viewers started asking to see the practical aspects of what she's teaching and that's how she went into making porn videos.

She went on to reveal that contrary to popular opinion, she actually got sexually active very late.

"I was still a virgin up until a few years ago - about 4, 5 years ago," she said.

She added, " I wasn't keeping my virginity for marriage. I was just keeping it for me."

The Nigerian adult filmmaker said she started the adult film website following encouragement from her vlog viewers and it quickly picked up. This is no surprise, considering how well sex sells.

She went on to talk about the percentage of her viewers who are Nigerians and which continent views her adult content the most. According to her, 40% of her viewers are Arabs, 30% are Nigerians. Americans also make up a huge percentage of her viewers.

As expected, she's been judged for her lifestyle but she says this doesn't bother her.

"I don't give a sh** about what anyone says. If it's not putting money on my table, who cares?" she said.

She also spoke about her sexual encounters, having sex in clubs, and giving a man a "blowjob" in a club.

Speaking about one sexual adventure she'll like to try, she said: "I've not experienced pegging, I want to do it."

She also explained in graphic details what pegging means and adds that she has found people willing to try it with her.

She added for clarification: "I'm into BDSM."

Seyi went on to disclose that she organizes adult parties, sex orgies, BDSM parties and more in Nigeria, and people are applying and paying for it.

Seyi Hunter insists her line of business is completely professional and also a useful one because she creates jobs for people who would otherwise have constituted a nuisance in the community. She adds that her business also spices up marriages and reduces marital issues and dissatisfaction in relationships.

Speaking about her porn actors, Seyi says she gives then as much as 3 months to prepare their minds and think over the decision to appear in her adult movie.

Her goal, she says, is to see her adult website standing side by side with pornhub in the next 5 years.

Seyi also touched on morality, saying that she doesn't see those who engage in adult movies as fornicators.

She adds that she's a Christian who goes to "Christ Embassy" church and she doesn't hide what she does.

She said: "I don't hide what I do. I'm the kind of person that if, maybe, my pastor calls me to the front of the altar and we're talking, like, 'what do you do for a living?' The truth is, I won't tell you that I'm a Nollywood actress because that's not what I'm selling.

"I'll tell you, I'm into adult entertainment."

She adds that before the pastor says "Jack Robinson" she'll tell him the name of her porn website so people can check it out.

She adds: "I'll have to mention it so that people that'll hear it will have to go and search and subscribe."

She says she has no need to hide her work and she will readily mention her business and porn website in church.

She added that she's been born again "for over 10 years." She revealed she was in the media group in church but lack of time, due to work, made her less active in church.

When asked if she sees anything wrong with doing what she does as a Christian, she said, "Wallahi, I don't."

She went on to speak in tongues during the course of the interview.

Oby Ezekwesili slams President Buhari over N100m bail to Omoyele Sowore

Former Minister of Education and BBOG Convener, Oby Ezekwesili has lashed out at President Buhari and the Department of State Services (DSS) over the bail granted to Omoyele Sowore today October 4, at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Recall LIB reported earlier that the #RevolutionNow convener was granted N100m bail and also barred from addressing the media and travelling out of Abuja pending the conclusion of his trial over charges of treason and insulting the President.

In a tweet shared shortly after the report, Oby Ezekwesili said the idea was to place a steep condition that the former African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate cannot meet.  She also accused President Buhari of repressing Nigerians.

Quote: “Hopefully, the DSS under the supervision of the Presidency will honor this bail and release Sowore and other.
“What kind of bail of N150m is this? Is the idea to place a steep condition that Yele Sowore cannot meet?
“What a shame President Buhari, what a BIG shame to repress your citizen.”

The Taraba state police command have arrested a 22-year- old student of the Adamawa State University Jalingo, Abdulbasid Umar, for kidnapping his ten-year old sister, Amina Umar and demanding a N10 million ransom from their father.

Parading the suspect before newsmen, the state police command spokesperson, David Misai, said Umar was nabbed with his accomplices, Sadiq Dalhatu Sani 21, and Abdullahi Habib 27, whom he had hired to abduct his sister. Umar demanded N10 million ransom from his father to release his sister alive but later reduced it to N4 million.

Misai said

Quote:“The mastermind of the crime, Abdubasit Umar, who happens to be a biological brother of the victim (Amina Umar), had criminally conspired with other suspects and lured the innocent girl into a Blue Honda Hennessy car marked MKF 67JK Kaduna. They drove her to Dove Hotel in Mayo Dassa, where she was held captive.
The suspects contacted the family and demanded a ransom of 10,000,000 naira. The kidnappers later accepted to collect the sum of N4 million. In the process of collecting the ransom at Wuro-Sambe, an outskirt of Jalingo, they were tracked down and arrested. The victim was rescued.”

When interrogated, the suspect said

Quote:“My intention of kidnapping my younger sister was to get N10 million. My aim is to get the money and travel abroad.”
