It seems the Khadoni ship will still be sailing after all as Khafi has confirmed she is still with Gedoni who was her love interest while still in the Big Brother Naija House.

Recall that speculation of the couple's split came after a video of Gedoni and mystery woman surfaced.

However Khafi dispelled rumours of their split as the housemates continued their tour yesterday. Gedoni had a teary moment after she described him as the "salt of her life.

Here is the video below;

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 15TH OCTOBER.

FULFILLING YOUR CALL

And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it (Colossians 4:17).

Every Christian is called of God and has a divine destiny to fulfil. This doesn’t mean we’re all called into the five-fold ministry offices of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers, but each of us is called to fulfil a ministry in the Gospel.

Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Your union with Christ and partnership with Him in the Gospel is the greatest thing on the face of the earth; far greater than anything money can acquire.

That’s why it’s important that you know Him truly, and serve Him with your spirit. Pleasing Him, and fulfilling His destiny for your life should be your life’s pursuit. It’s like what we read about Moses; the Bible says he esteemed “…the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward” (Hebrews 11:26).

Moses didn’t live in Jesus’ day, but he had a revelation of his divine call. Through him, God delivered (saved) the children of Israel from Egypt.

The Lord is counting on you; He’s committed His glorious Gospel to your trust. He’s called you into the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 says, “… and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”

Esteem His call to win souls and live for Him, irrespective of circumstances, more than the treasures of this world, and fulfil it!

CONFESSION

I live for the cause of the Gospel; my heart beats with passion to reach and win more souls into the Kingdom. The zeal for the Gospel and the expansion of God’s Kingdom has consumed me; and by the power of God’s Spirit, I’m fulfilling this call gloriously, changing people’s lives with the Gospel, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

15TH OCTOBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word in me. It’s in every cell of my blood; it’s travelling through my veins into my muscles, bones, joints and skin. It’s destroying every germ or virus and correcting every anomaly in my body.

Your Word is imparting vitality and strength into every part of my being. I thank You for October is my Month of Ministry. Thank You for the opportunity You’ve given me to demonstrate and witness the power of the resurrected Christ.

As I reach out to the sick, healing virtue flows through me into the sick body, curing every ailment and vitalising every muscle, blood, cell and bone. I’ve received an overflowing of Your grace.

That grace working in me is the power of promotion, unending success, and an extraordinary life of excellence, victory, and dominion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Boko Haram: Gaidam Int’l Market Reopened As Mai Mala Buni Relaxes Curfew

Gov. Mai- Mala Buni of Yobe on Monday announced the reopening of Gaidam weekly market with immediate effect.

The market had been shut for about a year following Boko Haram attacks on the commercial hub.

Buni made this known in a Town Hall meeting with the people of Gaidam, in Gaidam local government.

He also approved the upward review of curfew in the town from 6 pm to 10 pm as well as the recruitment of 150 vigilante members to boost the existing 50 vigilantes who are complementing the troops in clearance operations.

“The closure of Gaidam market will only worsen the security situation in the town rather than improving it, considering the number of youth in the town and strategic location of the market.” Buni said.

He enjoined the people of Gaidam to be prayerful and cooperate with the security operatives, as security is everyone’s affair. (NAN)

Zainab Ahmed Says Fuel Subsidy To Gulp N450 Billion In 2020
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 10-15-2019, 08:14 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Minister for Finance , Budget and National Planning , Mrs . Zainab Ahmed , says under - recovery of Premium Motor Spirit , popularly referred to as fuel subsidy, will gulp N 450bn in 2020 .

She said this on Monday in Abuja , at the public presentation of the 2020 budget proposals.
Ahmed said it was called ‘under -recovery ’ because it was the cost of operation of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

“ We have a provision for under -recovery of PMS in the sum of N 450 bn . If you look at the Budget office ’s website , it is in the fiscal framework , which is an annexure to the budget.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had , on Tuesday , presented a budget proposal of N 10 .33 trn to a joint session of the National Assembly .

He put the Federal Government ’s estimated revenue in 2020 at N 8. 155 trn, comprising oil revenue of N 2. 64 trn, non- oil tax revenues of N 1. 81 trn and other revenue of N 3. 7 trn.

Other estimates are N 556 .7 bn for statutory transfers , N 2 . 45 trn for debt servicing and provision of N 296bn as sinking fund .

The 2020 budget is based on an oil production estimate of 2 .18 million barrels per day , oil price benchmark of 57 dollars per barrel and an exchange rate of N 305 to a dollar .

Ahmed said that recurrent ( non- debt ) spending was expected to rise by 11 .28 per cent , from N 4 . 39 trillion in 2019 to N 4. 88 trillion in 2020 .
This, she said, would reflect in salaries and pensions , including provisions for implementation of the new minimum wage .

Ahmed said that the overall budget deficit of N 2 .17 trillion represents 1 .52 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product ( GDP ) and N 1 .64 trillion of it would be funded by both domestic and external borrowing .

According to her, the external sources will provide N 850 billion, while domestic sources will provide N 744 .99 billion.

Citing the top 12 Ministries , Departments and Agencies ( MDAs ) capital allocations , she said the Ministry of Works and Housing was allocated N 259 . 2 billion , Ministry of Power N 127 . 67 billion, Ministry of Transportation N 123 . 07 billion , Ministry of Education ( including Universal Basic Education Commission ) N 162. 74 billion.

Others are Ministry of Defence N 99 .87 billion, Ministry of Health N 90 .98 billion, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development N 79 . 79 billion and Ministry of Water Resources N 78 .34 billion.

Some others are: Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development N 45 . 45 billion , Ministry of Aviation N 53 . 85 billion , Ministry of Industry , Trade and Investment N 41 .34 billion and Ministry of Science and Technology N 37 .55 billion .

She , however, said that there were key expenditures captured in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework ( MTEF ) , but were not in the 2020 budget.

“ They are N 61 billion for the Presidential Power Initiative, N 1 .22 trillion for federally funded projects in the oil and gas sector to be undertaken by NNPC on behalf of the federation .

“ Others are : N 272 billion as transfers to Tertiary Education Trust Fund ( TETFUND ) for infrastructure projects in tertiary institutions and N 82 .35 billion as transfer to Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Investment ( NSIA) for Public Private Partnership/ Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund ( PIDF ) , ” she said.

For revenue , Ahmed said there were Strategic Revenue Growth Initiatives ( SRGI ) aimed at boosting revenue generation to meet targeted revenue to GDP ratio of 15 per cent .

She said further that the SRGI would be implemented with increased vigour to improve revenue collection and expenditure management .

She said that Nigeria must mobilise significant resources to invest in human capital development and critical infrastructure .
“ Some reforms will be tough but they must be done to look at the facts and be frank to ourselves.

“ However, we will engage the public sector in whatever we do , including any changes in taxes , with regards to rates or administration methods . ”

Quote:Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has sacked all local government political appointees.

Those affected are Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Secretary to Local Government and Supervisory Councillors.

The sacking was contained in a three- paragraph letter.

It was gathered that the sacking of local government political appointees was to affect only those in Edo North senatorial district but it was later changed to all the 18 local government areas.

One of the affected appointee in Owan East, Mr. Godwin Imoudu confirmed the sacking saying he has received his letter.

Earlier this month, Governor Obaseki had sacked over 300 political appointees in what is seen as a way to sweep fifth columnists out of his administrations.

About four council chairmen, Eghe Ogbemudia (Egor) Hon Patrick Aguinede, (Esan West) Alhaji Yakson Musa in Etsako West and Alhaji Aremiyau Momoh of Etsako East have been suspended for alleged corrupt activities.

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has handed over the six mine-resistant and multi-purpose military vehicles intercepted en route Niger Republic to American government.

While performing the handing-over ceremony in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, the Customs Comptroller in charge of Adamawa and Taraba States, Kamardeen Olumoh, said the handing-over was a directive from the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA.

Mr Olumoh said: “I am directed from the National Security Adviser to comply, release and hand over the vehicles to the American government.”

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the vehicles were received by Kathleen FitzGibbon, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of United States of America in Nigeria, alongside security Attaché of the American Embassy including Major Peter Shayborn of the US Air Force.

In her reaction, Mrs FitzGibbon thanked the Nigerian government for the understanding, adding that the vehicles were en route to The Niger Republic for a security mission.

“Nigeria and America have good relation and understanding and the vehicles were en route to the Niger Republic for security mission,” Mrs FitzGibbon said.

She, therefore, commended the Nigerian government for the well-keeping of the vehicles, saying that the American Air force Carrier would transport the vehicles to Niger Republic.

EFCC arrests 94 suspected internet fraudsters at Osogbo nightclub, many cars seized (Photos/video)

A raid which was carried out by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a nightclub in Osogbo, Osun State's capital has led to the arrest of 94 suspected internet frausters.

While eyewitnesses alleged that 45 cars were confiscated in the raid at the nightclub which is reportedly notorious for hosting parties for suspected fraudsters, EFCC's spokesperson Wilson Uwajuren said 19 exotic cars, laptops, scores of sophisticated mobile phones and other items were seized from the suspects arrested during the raid which was carried out in the early hours of Monday October 14.

Quote:The statement read “Popularly known as ‘Club Secret Underground’, the nightclub is located on the Ibadan-Iwo Expressway of the Osun State capital.
“The wee-hour operation was sequel to an intelligence report hinting that the suspected internet fraudsters were organising a night party for Sunday, October 13, during which some of them intended to celebrate their loots.
“A discreet operation on the club had earlier been carried out to ascertain the authenticity of the intelligence.
“The confirmation led to the mega raid effected on Monday. The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation, and those indicted would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

Maina Has Started Speaking Up On How He Spent The N24bn ―source

Quote:Soni Daniel

The embattled former chairman of the Pension Reforms Task Team, Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina “has started speaking up on how he spent the N24 billion”, Vanguard can confirm.

A top EFCC official conversant with the matter told Vanguard that Maina had started speaking up on how he spent the N24 billion, which the federal government handed over to him in ten commercial banks to use and pay off millions of its retirees across the world.

But in a twist that rattles the government and those who brought Maina to the top job, the team under him merely embarked on globe-trotting, sharing the cash with top government officials, under the guise of going round the world to verify the biometric of Nigerian workers.

According to documents at the disposal of the EFCC, which Maina signed off as approved expenditures and receipts for overseas and local trips by the Pension Reforms Task Team, no fewer than 200 top federal government officials were captured as ‘beneficiaries’ of travelling allowances for trips they did not embark on.

According to the documents, which the embattled official wants to rely on as his evidence of utilizing the huge cash of N24 billion released in 2011 to his team, a former Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, a Permanent Secretary in the Presidency, a controversial Head of Service of the Federation, Director of Budget of the Federation, two ex-chairmen of the EFCC and ICPC and hordes of officials have been listed along with their bank details and the amount collected by each for phantom biometric trips.

It was learned that Maina was ready to defend the expenditure by calling some or most of the beneficiaries as his witnesses although he has reportedly denied many of the payments and ownership of most of the houses traced to him.

It was learnt that many of the top government officials who are listed as beneficiaries were aware that Maina’s team had been making payments into their accounts even though they did not make the purported trips. It did not also summon the courage to reject and return the millions paid into their accounts by the PRTT.

It was gathered that most of them had since left public service might still be summoned to account for the public funds.

In a similar development, Maina’s son has been reportedly handed over to the Nigeria Police Force to prosecute over illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, Vanguard learnt.

The DSS in its report while transferring father and son to the EFCC last week, accused Faisal of pulling a gun against its operatives and threatening to shoot them.

The service listed items it arrested the father and son with to include: a pistol with live ammunition, bulletproof Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, foreign currencies and seven drones.

Vanguard gathered that the police would press charges against junior Maina, who was actually caught with the pistol firearms unless he produces appropriate licenses to operate same in Nigeria.

A source confirmed to Vanguard the 20-year-old student in the American University of Dubai had been transferred to the police, leaving his embattled father alone with EFCC operatives.

Quote:Boko Haram insurgents suffered a major casualty on Sunday when the Nigerian Air Force jets bombarded their meeting venue in Boboshe, Borno State, it was learnt.

According to a statement signed by the Director Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Ibikunle Daramola, scores of Boko Haram fighters were killed in the air raid.

According to the statement made available to journalists, “the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has decimated a location at Boboshe on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, being used by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) as a meeting venue.

“The attack was conducted following successive days of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, coupled with Human Intelligence reports, that established that a building within the settlement was being used as a rendezvous by the BHTs where their commanders assemble to take instructions before launching attacks against own troops and innocent civilians.

“Accordingly, the ATF detailed its fighter aircraft to attack the hideout, scoring accurate hits within the designated area leading to the decimation of the target structure. Several BHTs were also killed as a result of the strikes.

“The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its efforts to completely destroy all remnants of the terrorists in the Northeast.”

Elton John calls Michael Jackson 'Mentally Ill' and 'Disturbing to be around' in his new memoir

Sir Elton John has branded late pop star Michael Jackson 'mentally ill' and 'disturbing to be around' in his new memoir, Me, which is coming out on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

The British singer Elton, 72, writes ... "I’d known Michael since he was 13 or 14 ... He was just the most adorable kid you could imagine. But at some point in the intervening years, he started sequestering himself away from the world, and away from reality the way Elvis Presley did."
He goes on to say, "God knows what was going on in his head, and God knows what prescription drugs he was being pumped full of, but every time I saw him in his later years I came away thinking the poor guy had totally lost his marbles."

The singer also dropped a big allegation, writing ... "I don’t mean that in the light-hearted way. He was genuinely mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around."

Recalling a time he invited Michael to one of his parties, Elton claims the star wandered off and was found playing with his housekeeper's son. He says: 'For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to cope with adult company at all.'

Michael Jackson died suddenly of an overdose of sedatives administered by his personal physician, Conard Murray, in 2009. He was later dragged into the news with claims of sexual abuse by Wade Robson and James Safechuck, which were detailed in HBO's "Leaving Neverland."

Hamilton’ actor Miguel Cervantes’ 3-year-old daughter dies after battle with Epilepsy

Hamilton star,  Miguel Cervantes' 3-year-old daughter died over the weekend after her long battle with Epilepsy.

The 42-year-old actor said in a joint statement with his wife Kelly, 37: 'The Cervantes family is heartbroken to announce that their baby girl Adelaide Grace - who battled epilepsy and Infantile Spasms - tragically died early Saturday, October 12, 2019.

Adelaide 'was held in the loving arms of her family as she peacefully achieves the "calm" for which they've been searching for so long,' the family said, adding that 'they would like to extend their deepest, heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with words of support and prayer and will continue to feel all the love as they go through this difficult time.'

Kelly shared an image of the late child's room with a powerful message in memory of her daughter: 'The machines are off. Her bed is empty. The quiet is deafening. Miss Adelaide Grace left us early Saturday morning.
Adelaide had suffered from epilepsy since infancy. She was diagnosed in 2015 when she was only 7 months old.

After she was diagnosed, Cervantes and his wife, Kelly dedicated time and efforts to helping promote epilepsy research.

The organization Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, or CURE, issued a statement Sunday night on Adelaide’s death:

“Our hearts are heavy tonight with the news of Adelaide Cervantes’ passing. In her short life, Adelaide did so much to bring attention to a disease we should be much closer to curing. No child should have to suffer this way. No parent should have to sit by helplessly and simply watch as epilepsy takes a devastating toll on their child. Kelly and Miguel have inspired all of us. They have brought light to our CURE family, despite their struggles, their pain, and this most devastating loss. Sweet Adelaide will be missed by so many, but her legacy will live on.”

Former Plantashun Boiz member, Blackface, who has been in a legal battle with his former bandmate, 2face Idibia, has just dropped another bombshell.

While Blackface and 2face have dragged themselves to court over copyright related issues, Blackface decided to leak a 43-minute phone conversation he had with Faze where they were talking about Plantashun Boiz, 2face Idibia and other issues.

According to him, 'I know it was totally wrong of me to release audio of my conversation with Faze but it was the only way for people to understand #theconspiracytheory planned a long time ago by some people in the industry'.

He went on to say, 'I hate to do this, but you fall my hand again Faze. After our conversation you went on to perform Plantashun Boiz songs with my contributions with 2Face at his event? When is this going to stop? You both sound like artists that lost it, what examples are you both portraying going on stage without rehearsals? You both don't sync and it makes my hard work look poor, please, please, please, I no go beg again. I just uploaded our convo for the world to know the facts of what's going on with all #theconspiracytheory'.

OAP Dotun threatens to cancel interview with Tacha following threats to his life

OAP Dotun has threatened to cancel a scheduled interview with disqualified contestant in the just concluded Big Brother Naija show, Tacha.

Dotun had earlier announced on his social media platforms that he will be having an interview with Tacha this Wednesday October 16th.

His announcement immediately took a different turn as Tacha's fans, who refer to themselves as Titans, stormed his page to drag him. Apparently, Dotun publicly condemned Tacha''s attitude to her fellow housemates during the show. Her fans are of the opinion that he should keep the same energy he had while she was in the house now and should not be given an opportunity to interview her.

In a recent post on his IG page, Dotun says he has received threats to his life and might have to cancel if Tacha's manager, Teebillz, doesn't address this. See his post and the comments from Tacha's fans below

Britain's worst paedophile Richard Huckle who raped and assaulted 200 children is found 'stabbed to death in his prison cell

Richard Huckle, Britain's worst paedophile has been killed in his prison cell after he was stabbed with a makeshift 'shiv' knife.

The lifeless body of the 33-year-old was on Sunday, October, 13, found 'slumped' in his top-floor cell at HMP Full Sutton, a Category A jail near York, housing many of Britain's most notorious and violent prisoners.

Huckle's death comes three years after he was jailed for least 25 years for raping and sexually assaulting 200 children in south-east Asia.

Posing as English teacher and Christian volunteer, he abused children from the age of six months to 12-years-old over a nine-year-period between 2006 and 2014.

According to Mail Online, Richard targeted care homes and orphanages while teaching English and photography in Malaysia and Cambodia, and even bragged about the abuse in a blog in which he awarded himself 'PedoPoints.'

He also filmed himself raping children and babies. From the age of 19, he amassed a staggering 20,000 images of child abuse that he sold for profit.

At that time, Investigators believe he would have attacked hundreds of more children if he hadn't been caught in 2014 when Australian police uncovered a network of paedophiles on the 'dark' web.

During his trial at the Old Bailey in 2016, Richard Huckle admitted an unprecedented 71 charges over eight years, including rape, sexual assault and sexual activity with a child.

Sentencing him, Judge Peter Rook QC said: “It is very rare indeed that a judge has to sentence sexual offending by one person on such a scale as this.”

Fake Anambra pastor caught trying to plant "idol" while conducting family deliverance for his member (video)

A fake pastor was caught with an "idol" which he allegedly planned to plant in a home during family deliverance in Anambra.

In a video shared online, the pastor is seen digging a part of the house while conducting family deliverance for a family.

He had been invited by the family and was paid for the deliverance session. However, in the course of the deliverance, as he was digging, an eagle-eyed family member noticed him shaking his leg as though being moved by the spirit. The man became suspicious and asked the pastor to come out of the hole he was digging.

The pastor hesitated but the suspicious man went up to him, forced his leg out of the hole, and found an effigy which the pastor was trying to shake down one leg of his trousers into the hole.

At this point, there was commotion as youth gathered to humiliate him. The fake pastor, his accomplices (three other men), and a young woman described in the video as their "mother" were paraded by youths in the village and shamed.

Ultra CBD Extract  One of the fastest acting home remedies is onion. Take a freshly cut onion slice and stick it in your mouth and around the gum area of your sore tooth. Release some of the juice by squeezing on it and you should feel some relief in just a few seconds.
Please hold a warm pressure against the place where pain is felt in the ear. Just dip a towel in hot water, then squeeze the water off and hold it on the ear. The heat getting from the towel will be giving a quick pain relief. It is also an ear pain remedy.

Repent and seek God’s face - Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau tells Borno residents

Abubakar Shekau, the founding leader of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, has asked the people of Borno state to repent and seek the face of God.

Shekau made the appeal in an audio tape released by the media team of the sect on Sunday October 13th.

Speaking in Hausa and Kanuri languages, Shekau said the residents of the state have come under serious attacks orchestrated by members of his sect because there are many infidels among the people of the state.  Shekau in the audio, denied claims made by the Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, that his men are tired of fighting.

He said;

Quote:“I decided to deliver this message to clarify an issue in order for the public to understand our stand so that they would not be misguided. I’m speaking on the claims of the governor of Borno state that some of our members were forced to join us against their will and now they are tired of fighting. I want to tell the governor that we are not tired yet. We have not even started. It is our wish to die fighting. We are on top of our game and by the grace of God we are going die doing this. We are still here.
“You should know that in Islam, you cannot receive the forgiveness of Allah if you die without accepting Islam. Even the disciples of Islam, including the parent of a prophet of Islam, were not pardoned by God because they died without accepting Islam.
“The governor should know that Islam is not Borno’s religion, it is not religion of Yobe or Kano; it is not a religion from Nigeria, or Niger or Cameroon. It is God’s religion sent down from heaven and explained to us clearly by the prophet.
“For that reason, people should desist from giving wrong interpretation to the verses of the Holy Quran. For example, the verses that the governor quoted about forgiveness were not only wrong but used out of context; even this is enough shame on you governor.
“It is not for us to repent; it is your governor of Borno that needs to repent. You cannot get paradise with what you are doing now.
“The world is full of people seeking its secular gains, and it abounds for all, but heaven is only for those that worked for it. Paradise is meant only for those who follow the path of God. Neither power nor wealth can earn one paradise. The people of Borno should repent and seek the face of God… This is my message to the people of Borno.”

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, have arrested three suspected okada robbers in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The suspects, Emmanuel Michael, 24, who rode on a motorcyle, in company of two other accomplices; Moses Ogeh, 27 and Ojonugwa Ojomeje, 29, were arrested in Ita-Maga area of Ikorodu after hijacking a motor bike popularly called ‘okada’ from a cyclist while impersonating police officers.  Two of the suspects: Ojomeje and Ogeh were caught in MOPOL vest, police vest  and fez cap while trying to escape after collecting an ‘okada’ from a rider in Ikorodu.

The trio, operating on Michael’s bike in the area, had around 10:00 p.m. accosted another ‘okada’ rider, stopped him and dispossessed him of his motorcycle. They were said to have told the owner that they were police officers from a nearby police station.

The victim on releasing the ‘okada’ to the robbers walked few steps away before crying out for help. This drew the attention of passers-by and the operatives of Rapid Response Squad in the area. They were chased and arrested few metres from the scene.

Quote:According to the Ojomeje, the leader of the gang, “ in July 2019, men in police uniform collected my ‘okada’ in Ikorodu Bus Stop. They told me they were Taskforce team from Ebute Police Station. They advised me to meet them there while they took the ‘okada’ away. It was after 10:00 p.m.
“I went from Ebute Police Station to Ijede, Mola and Ladigboye Police Post, there was no trace of them. It was my only means of livelihood. It was exactly a week I got the ‘okada’ on hired purchase at N280,000.  I paid only N40,000 with a balance of N240,000 to settle the owner, Chinedu. I searched for it in all the surrounding police stations but there was no record of it.
“In order to pay the balance because Chinedu couldn’t take the excuse, I borrowed my friends bike, and bit by bit, I paid another N40,000. Because the owner was deeply on my neck for the payment, I sought the assistance of my friend to help me hijack another ‘okada.”
He continued: “I had a MOPOL vest at home thrown away by a former neighbour in Obalende. I appealed to Michael to borrow me his sister’s husband police uniform. The plan was to get a motor bike for me and later on, I would pay them too after I might have finished paying my debt.
“While I put on the MOPOL vest, Ogeh, a food stuff seller put on the police vest and fez cap. At around 10:00 p.m, the three of us set out using Michael’s ‘okada’ to Ita Maga. We collected a bike but we were arrested”.

Protesting vociferously to Ojomeje’s explanation of their roles, Michael and Ogeh stated that they were charmed and made to take an oath by their ring leader. They added that they were offered kolanut to eat after Ojomeje had promised them a successful outing. The suspects have been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 14TH OCTOBER.

GOD’S SUPPLY SYSTEM

I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2 NIV).

When it comes to your finances, you must see the Lord as your source; otherwise, you’ll struggle financially. You must understand that being an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ, you’re plugged to an unending supply; never think or talk lack. Be supply conscious; not supply from men, your employer or the government, but from God. His supply system is nonstop. But if you focus on men or your salary, that’s a system that fails.

Many have gone into depressing situations because their “source” failed, and the supply stopped; but it’s not so with God’s supply system. Consider Elijah: God instructed Him to get away from Ahab and hide by the Brook Cherith, and commanded ravens to feed him every morning and evening. He also drank water from the brook.

However, after a while, the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land (1 Kings 17:7). Imagine if Elijah’s trust or focus was on the brook and the ravens, and not the Lord Himself. He probably would have gone into frustration when the brook dried up.

At that time, God prepared a widow at Zarephath to take care of him (1 Kings 17:9). This should tell you something: take your eyes away from men, your job or business; they’re channels. God is your source; focus on Him, because it’s up to Him to choose which channel to use.

If, for instance, your cable company or satellite TV service provider disconnects you, it doesn’t matter what channel you want to watch, it won’t work. But God is your “service provider,” therefore, focus on Him and not the channels. He’ll orchestrate things in your favour and see to it that you walk continually in abundance.

Use the Word for your finances. David said, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). You have unlimited access to God’s inexhaustible riches. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you, for you liberally supply my every need according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. You’re my source; wealth and honour come from you alone. Your divine power has given me everything I require for life and godliness. I’m plugged into a nonstop supply system, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I live out the supernatural life naturally, demonstrating the glory, wisdom, and excellence of divinity.   Mut 20 coins job as a tight end coach

It worked for the Dolphins ... for two weeks. That honeymoon is over, of course, but in Tennessee, things are looking rosy thus far, and the Titans got a big win in Mike Mularkey's first game as interim head coach.

Mularkey, who played tight end for the Steelers and Vikings before getting his first Mut 20 coins job as a tight end coach, made tight ends heavily featured in his first game as head coach. Delanie Walker led the team with seven catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Mularkey fittingly dialed up a brilliant play call to tight end Anthony Fasano in overtime to give the Titans the win.

He rolled Marcus Mariota out to the right before having him throw it back across the field to the left for the winning score. The Colin Kaepernick benching didn't totally backfireColor me surprised: Blaine Gabbert actually looked like an NFL quarterback, sort of. Or, to put it better, he wasn't pletely awful, which was what I had expected. Gabbert finished 15-of-25 passing for 185 yards with two touchdowns and two picks, but more importantly, helped lead the Niners to a much-needed win over the recently flaccid Falcons. Gabbert had lost in his previous 10 starts, throwing six touchdowns to 13 interception in those games.

While his stat line was anything but impressive, consider that the buy Madden 20 coins last time Gabbert threw more than one touchdown in a game was back on Nov. 4, 2012. Progress?Cam Newton doing it all There has been a lot of talk on Cam Newton's somewhat tepid season-long stat line in reference to his MVP contention, but it's clear he doesn't play the position in a prototypical fashion.

Staff of Auchi Polytechnic who was abducted on October 9th has been found dead

Samuel Okolie, a staff of Auchi Polytechnic who was said to have been abducted by gunmen on October 9 has been found dead.

Okolie was found dead on his farm at Aviele community, near Auchi in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo early on Sunday.

Okolie’s death occurred barely two weeks after another staff of the polytechnic, Dr S. Okhikhena, described as Okolie’s close friend was similarly murdered.

He was said to have been abducted on his way to his farm after close of work to pick people working for him. His mutilated body was dumped close to a truck he was said to be driving when he was abducted by the gunmen. But the Commissioner of Police in Edo, Danmallam Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that Okolie was not abducted.

Mohammed said the death was “probably a case of suicide as parts of the deceased’s body was bathed with acid. “It is probably a case of suicide because nothing was taken away from him and also from his vehicle. You know the rate of suicide is very high and his own cannot be an exception.”

The commissioner said, however, that investigation would be carried out by the command to ascertain what led to Okolie’s death.

Oshiomole Says Obaseki Behind Siege To His Home

Governor, police deny attack as APC, Omo-Agege seek probe.

October 14, 2019

Precious Igbonmwelundu, Osagie Otabor, Benin, Bolaji Ogundele and Sanni Onogu, Abuja

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole on Sunday accused the Edo State government of orchestrating Saturday’s siege to his Benin home.

There is a frosty relationship between the party chair, who is the immediate past governor and his ‘godson’ — Governor Godwin Obaseki— ostensibly over the governor’s second term bid.

Explaining the Saturday night ‘attack’ on the chairman’s home, Oshiomhole’s spokesman Simon Ebegbulem told The Nation on the telephone: “The National Chairman was in Benin on Saturday to attend a birthday party. While he was still at the party around 8pm, the state government sent thugs to his house. They were over 50 singing war songs.

“They blocked the entrance of his gate until the security people there called those with him (Oshiomhole) to alert him about what was happening. That was how APC youths were swiftly alerted and they stormed the house with policemen.

“The thugs fled when they saw the youth and policemen. We are wondering what thugs will be doing at the residence of the national chairman at that time of the night.

“If the national chairman had arrived there without knowing, they would have attacked him. We are accusing the state government because the governor has been clamping down on all those opposed to him.”

Ebegbulem claimed that the action at Oshiomhole’s home, was part of the resolution reached at the last Exco meeting that all opposing anti-Obaseki second term bid be attacked.

But Governor Obaseki denied having anything to do with the attack. The governor’s spokesman Mr. Crusoe Osagie said: “It is a lie. There was no attack. Nothing happened in the area where Oshiomhole lives.

“The Edo State government has said it has no knowledge of the purported attack on the person or residence of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. We have no knowledge of the attack. We have also reached out to the police, and they affirmed that they do not know about such an attack.”

Edo Police Commissioner San Mallam Abubakar also denied there was an attack. The police chief said some persons at the party chairman’s home planning a protest were dispersed.

However, the APC and Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege condemned “the attack” and called on the police to investigate it.

In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said: “Although, the APC National Chairman has rightly called for calm after the apparent attempt on his life, we call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Adamu and other relevant security outfits to investigate the ugly incident and prosecute the sponsors and attackers.

“In Edo State, just as in any other state, everyone must be free to go about their normal and legitimate activities without harassment, intimidation, threat to life and property.

“It is clear that the sponsors of the attack are bent on causing crisis in the state in pursuit of their desperate and unpopular political interests. Human life is greater that anyone’s political ambition.”

Senator Omo-Agege described the development as “callous, cowardly, inhumane and totally unacceptable that should be condemned by all.”

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yomi Odunuga, quoted the Deputy Senate President as noting that politics should not be allowed to degenerate “to a situation where violence becomes the language of activism by both politicians and their supporters, no matter how disgruntled such persons may be.”

He said: “Such criminal attack, remains utterly condemnable and illegal. Whatever their grievances, they should learn to explore dialogue rather than resort to violence.

“I call on the police to get to the root of the matter by prosecuting those involved in the act. It is my belief that the fine principles and ethos of democratic practice do have inbuilt mechanisms through which internal wrangling can be resolved without recourse to violence as it was the case in Edo State on Saturday.

“I would like to call on the parties involved to explore those options that would strengthen the party as entrenched in the constitution of the APC as that is the best way to move the state and the nation to the Next Level in which all citizens are expected to reap the dividends of the trust they reposed in the government led by President Muhammadu Buhari”, he said.

Omo-Agege urged parents to warn their wards against political violence, adding that the attack negated democratic principles.

Jonathan, Buhari Spent N1.164 Trillionn On Power In 8 Years
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-14-2019, 07:45 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian government, between 1999 and 2010, reportedly spent over N4.7 trillion on power, but the country remained in darkness. Eight years later, Jonathan and Buhari administrations invested another N1.164 trillion into the sinkhole through capital releases, but homes and factories in Nigeria are yet to be provided with constant electricity supply. Beatrice Ogbor, a six-year-old girl, and her two-year-old sibling, were born into darkness and have never shared in the joy of the popular exclamation “Up NEPA” that follows power restoration in Nigeria. “We gave birth to her here in 2014,” her father, John Ogbor (45) says.

“You will be surprised that she and her sibling have never seen electricity since birth.” Ogbor is originally from Igede in Obi Local Government of Benue State. For the past 14 years, he has been living in Moro, a community along Shagamu – Ikorodu Expressway in Ogun State, after he left his original birthplace. But for almost seven years, his adopted community has been without electricity. “We tried the little we can. As individual landlords, we contributed N40, 000 to try to make this electricity thing a reality.

They said we should pay the money to process this and that to give us transformer, and we paid to Itesiwaju Area Community Council but at the end, nothing positive came out of it,” he said. For Ogbor, it has become almost hopeless waiting to access electricity in Moro, a community situated near the Nigerian Pipelines and Storage Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in, Mosimi. Aside its energy need, the community lacks access to healthcare, potable water, road, and schools. “God can still send help though, we believe,” says John.

He paused for a moment, took a deep breath while gazing at his two young children. “During campaign periods, we told them we don’t need rice, we don’t need money but electricity. That has been our only request.” Similarly, Alasia, Iraye, Oremuti, Oponua, Likorodu, Imede and five other communities in Ogun State visited by The ICIR, shared the same fate or worse. For eight years, the Oremuti community struggled to access power. Oponua has never been connected to the national grid. These conditions are not peculiar to Ogun State, but also other states across the country.

In Iraye community, Sagamu Local Government Area, the first set of electricity poles, according to Rasheed Alimi, the community head, was erected in 1994. To date, residents still live in darkness. A huge concrete platform constructed for the electrification project still lies adjacent to the residence of Alimi. It has neither transformer nor electricity cables except for about three electricity concrete poles sighted in the area. Nearby is a multimillion Naira 10-bed health care facility built by the NNPC, but it is off-the-grid. Neglected and taken over by bush, eight months after commissioning.

The oil firm had installed a giant generator to service the clinic whenever it becomes operational but when this reporter visited, he observed that weeds also have covered the generator. Findings, however, revealed that the Ogun State Assembly under the administration of Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, approved in the 2013 budget, the electrification of 32 communities, including Iraye. A closer look shows that the state Ministry of Rural Development and Rural Electrification in Annexure-II (B) listed the proposed benefitting communities but no such project exists today in Iraye.

Over N1 trillion invested in power in eight years Nigeria generates its power via four main sources – hydro, gas, coal and natural gas. But for almost 20 years, huge unverified amount of money has been expended on the sector. Specifically, The ICIR, can authoritatively report that N1.164 trillion has been released to the power sector as capital budgets from 2011 to 2018, yet the power sector has not measured up – darkness still prevails.

This figure was obtained from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. Electrical power often generated is literally not commensurate with the huge investments. And returns on investments have largely been discouraging as the Federal Government continues to pump in more resources in terms of budgetary allocations, loans among other interventions to ensure the nation meets its energy need. The Energy Business report (April 2016 vol. 15 no 160), shows that N6.52 trillion has been spent on Nigeria’s power sector in 16 years with no significant improvement.

For example, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, the report says, allegedly spent N3.52 trillion ($16 billion) during his tenure, though this figure has been contested. Also, late President Umar Yar’adua was said to have spent N1.183 trillion, while the former President Goodluck Jonathan during his administration reportedly expended N1.817 trillion and President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly spent N1.5 trillion in two years, as at September. Meanwhile, findings by The ICIR revealed that between 2011 and 2018, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation released capital sum of N1, 164,278,006,846 for power projects in the country.

This sum, however, excludes capital releases to six agencies between 2016 and 2018 namely, Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Federal School of Survey, Oyo, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Surveyor Council of Nigeria and Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Survey, when the Buhari-led administration merged the power ministry with works and housing. Epileptic power crippling rural economies, small businesses The importance of stable power as driver of any country’s economy cannot be overemphasised as it is capable of transiting Nigeria from an under-developed to the much desired developed status, especially when industries, Small and Medium Business Enterprises (SMEs) are supported.

But as at today, 90 million Nigerians still lack access to power, a situation that has crippled SMEs and industries. Mrs. Apansile Ade, for instance, is an entrepreneur who operates water and paint factories. She had run the business for over five years but at a loss. She is currently operating only the water factory because the paint business has gone under. “We just stopped producing because the generator developed a fault,” she told The ICIR. “Last week I spent almost N75, 000 repairing generator. I had to stop my son from resuming school on Monday because the little money I would have given to buy books and beverages was no longer there”. Unfortunately, the community she resides since 2010 has never been connected to the grid. As a result, she bought six generators to power her house and the water factory.

The last power generating set just collapsed when The ICIR visited. Government hoards information In order to ascertain the exact amount invested in the power sector, the FOI request was sent to the Federal Ministry of Power. The ministry acknowledged receipt of the request and promised to respond. Weeks after, the ministry is yet to send a reply.

Efforts through FOI requests from The ICIR to access a copy of the power sector shared agreement, which the federal government signed with the unbundled companies, failed. The power ministry acknowledged the same letter but referred to the National Electricity Regulatory Agency (NERC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE). But, till date, the document has not been provided. BPE claimed one of the power agreements is being investigated by the EFCC. However, the EFCC has remained numb on the claim after several attempts to verify.

During the investigation, The ICIR visited the Omoku Generation Company Limited 264.7MW and 225MW power project awarded to Rockson Engineering Company Limited, which is located in Omoku community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of River State. The military and private security officials guard the uncompleted facility, which was awarded 14 years ago. In November 2017, the NDPHC promised Omoku and three other plants – 750MW Alaoji, 338MW Egbema and 225MW in Bayelsa would be completed before the third quarter of 2018, but that’s not entirely the case.

PDP To Presidency, "We’re Not A Party Of ‘certificate Forgers"
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-14-2019, 07:43 AM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it remained vibrant as a major opposition party in the country.

This was in reaction to the statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Lanre Issa-Onilu and Shehu Garba, media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that opposition was dead in the country.

National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, during a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday said it was untrue that opposition was missing or dead in Nigeria, adding that such claim was a figment of their imagination.

Ologbondiyan stated Nigeria would never become a one-party state, warning that efforts to turn the country in the past to one-party state failed.

He added that Nigeria would always survive dictators.

The PDP spokesman therefore advised those counseling the Buhari presidency to attempt to turn Nigeria to a one-party state to back off.

The Buhari presidency came out to claim that there are agitators for a third term. We quickly pointed it out to them that there are no agitators; rather, if there is anything, it is the Buhari Presidency who is bringing the third term to the issue of national discourse,” he said.

We assured them that, given the magnificent failures of this Buhari Presidency, Nigerians are not ready to discuss it.

From there, they have moved to the issue of one-party state and bringing it to national discourse. Even that is totally unacceptable to us and I want those who are advising the President on this issue to back off.

As they came out to claim that the major opposition party is dead, we want to state clearly that our party is the consensus political party of the majority of Nigerians and our party, after a long journey of overhauling, has become the centre for seeking for power and good governance in our nation.

The PDP does not contain certificate forgers; it is not a party of people who are contrivers.

Our political party is relating directly with Nigerian people and we are working assiduously to make sure that democratic tenets of our nation is not only entrenched but seen to be entrenched in our nation.

He added, “As we do not have space to respond to the gimmicks of former democrats who went around the nation and brought a despot into a democratic order, so also do we have no space to engage in verbal discussion with characters who are known to be pillaging and stealing directly from the patrimony of our nation.

As such, we are not going to respond to the innuendos such characters are bandying.

The PDP remains the bastion of democracy in our nation. PDP is in the Supreme Court to ensure that the mandate which was given to Atiku and has been stolen is restored to us.

…we’re not aware of any attack… – EDSG

Some armed political thugs have reportedly attacked the Benin City residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Led by one Muktari Osagie and Ebo Stone, the thugs were seen chanting anti-Oshiomhole songs, declaring their motive without any form of restraint nor discretion.

The thugs were said to be supporters of Governor Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy, Philip Shaibu and the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie.

Igbere TV, however, gathered that the APC national chairman was not at home when the thugs arrived. He was said to be attending a friend’s occasion at a nearby residence.

The thugs said to be state-sponsored, remained at Oshiomhole’s residence, chanting various songs apparently awaiting to accost the national chairman upon his arrival.

“But for the swift intervention of a combined team of army and policemen, the thugs would have vandalized the building”, a source who pleaded anonymity told Igbere TV.

According to a police source, “Information spread to us and a combine team arrived the scene. We dislodged them and the situation was brought under control”.

We have no knowledge of alleged attack on Oshiomhole – Edo govt

The Edo State Government has said it has no knowledge of the attack on the the residence of the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

In a statement by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Crusoe Osagie, the government said, “We have no knowledge of the attack. We have also reached out to the Police, and they affirmed that they do not know about such an attack.”

Sanwo-Olu Declares State Of Emergency On Roads, Massive Rehabilitation Starts
User Avatar Forum: News

Lagos State Government has declared a state of emergency on various dilapidated highways and carriage roads within the State with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's order on Sunday that massive rehabilitation work on critical roads and highways across the State must commence on Monday, 14th October 2019.

Sanwo-Olu’s directive followed the conclusion of his series of meetings with eight multi-national engineering firms and a subsequent directive that work must commence on major highways identified as critical to reduce traffic congestions on highways in Lagos.

The Governor said that eight engineering firms have been instructed to immediately mobilise to the respective sites and commence major construction work on the identified roads.

He said: “This afternoon, we have just concluded meeting with various reputable construction companies and all of them have been given the brief to immediately commence major construction work in various parts of the State. The exercise will begin tomorrow with palliative work on the selected roads, which are both on the Island and Mainland divisions of the State”.

“The contractors have been given the mandate to start mobilising to their respective sites without further delay. Their activities must first give our people an immediate relief on the affected roads so that there can be free flow of traffic even during the rehabilitation work”, the Governor emphasised.

To complement the major construction work on the highways, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) would be carrying out repairs of 116 inner roads across the State, in addition to over 200 roads already rehabilitated by the Corporation in the last three months.

He maintained that he was aware of the pain experienced by road users which was aggravated by persistent downpour, appealing to residents to bear with the Government while efforts were being made to assuage their pains and bring permanent relief.

“We expect the rains will begin to subside in this month of October and this is why we are mobilising our contractors to immediately start the major construction work on the identified highways and bring permanent relief to residents. I am giving all Lagosians the assurance that the contractors will start the construction in earnest and will deliver on the terms of agreements reached with them”, Sanwo-Olu assured.

He said officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will also be working round the clock to control traffic in areas where the construction would take place.

Also speaking on the development, the Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, listed some of the critical highways and roads to be constructed to include Ojota stretch of the Ikorodu Road, Motorways-Kudurat Abiola Way, Apogbon Highway, Babs Animashaun Road, Agric/Ishawo Road and Ijede Road in Ikorodu, as well as Lekki-Epe Expressway from Abraham Adesanya to Eleko Junction.

She affirmed that the there would also be massive re-construction work on a network of roads in Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA and Victoria Island.

The contractors deployed by the Government include Julius Berger, Hi-tech, Arab Contractors, Metropolitan Construction, Slabaugh Construction, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Rajaf Foundation Construction, and RCF Nigeria Limited.

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has showered praises on former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, after God is Jonathan, saying he was a great man and not an ethnic bigot.

The governor spoke at the weekend in Abuja during a meeting of the Reconciliation Committee and Campaign Councils for Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections scheduled for November 16.

“The former president is not only my boss but my mentor. As far as I am concerned, after God is President Jonathan”, he said.
“I am happy the party has sown the seed of reconciliation. The key to the success of Bayelsa is reconciliation. I will never accept any exercise that will demean and put the former president on the other side.

“I am accepting this assignment because he has asked me to do it too, after the party. That means the issue of reconciliation is half done in Bayelsa.

“I have never asked him for anything and said ‘no’. And you know how he suffered in silence and in melancholy in Bayelsa. And today, I know him, he will definitely say yes.

“Because as a former president who brought transformation to Nigeria, and who brought me out from a different zone to be the Minister of the FCT, and who has deepened the provision of leadership without sentiment.

“I don’t think he will agree, for whatever he has suffered for, to allow Bayelsa go the other way

“Mr chairman, I am taking this responsibility with the seriousness and energy that it deserves. We will go our members to strategize and to plan. Politics is not a joke.
“If the other side is planning evil, we will plan excellence. If they are planning violence, we will plan peace. If they are planning a loss, we will plan victory,” Bala Mohammed added.

The Maja Sidden Sarkin Kano, who is in-charge of decorating the Emir’s Horse, was also asked to vacate his residence of over 30 years.

The Nation learnt that the development has caused serious disaffection within the Kano Emirate Council.

A Palace source, who craved anonymity, said Emir Sanusi who was not in Kano during Ganduje’s reception was highly angered over the action Auwalu.

The Palace source further stated: “You know what is happening between the Emir and Governor Ganduje. In fact, members of the Emirate Council were warned against attending any government function which the Emir did not approve of.

“The Emir was outraged over the action of Maja Siddin Sarkin Kano, which he considered as acts of disloyalty. This man is a very popular man within the Palace. He arranges the Horse for the Emir and he has stayed in the Palace for over 30 years.

“People around here are not happy over his plight. People are angry because they believe he is being treated unjustly. I don’t think it is a sin to join happy residents to celebrate the Tribunal victory and home-coming of Governor Ganduje.”

Quote:Workers in the country has been directed to get ready for an indefinite industrial action expected to begin October 16.

The directive is from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the umbrella body of the work force.

The federal government and the organised labour failed to reach an agreement over relativity and consequential adjustments for the implementation of the new N30,000 minimum wage more than six months after it was signed into law.

The workforce body is demanding a 29 per cent salary increase for officers on salary level 07 to 14 and 24 per cent adjustment for officers on salary grade level 15 to 17.

The government on its part, proposed an 11 per cent salary increase for officers on grade level 07 to14 and 6.5 per cent adjustment for workers of grade level 15 to 17.

But in a secular dispatched to its state councils and signed by the General Secretary of the NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, the body said the preparation to down tools was incase the proposed negotiations between it and the government slated for October 15 yields no fruit.

FG Budgets N9bn For Generators In 2020 Budget
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-13-2019, 07:49 PM - No Replies

The Federal Government plans to spend N9.05bn on the purchase, maintenance and fuelling of generators across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies nationwide.

The government also earmarked a separate N75.4m for maintenance and fuelling of generators in some of its foreign missions abroad.

The details are contained in the 2020 budget proposal which was submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

Sunday PUNCH, however, reports that the sum to be spent on generators may be much higher as several agencies such as the Independent National Electoral Commission and the National Health Insurance Scheme which have offices nationwide, failed to provide a breakdown of their budgets.

The government has budgeted the sum despite claims that power had improved drastically.

The N9bn earmarked for generators by the Federal Government is more than the Internally Generated Revenue of Bauchi, Abia, Zamfara, Kogi, Anambra, Bayelsa, Jigawa, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Borno, Taraba, Yobe and Gombe states in the first and second quarters of 2019.

The agency of the government with the largest single budget for generators is the Nigerian Army which set aside N518.3m for fuelling of generators alone while no amount was earmarked for maintenance.

In the second position is the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission which is asking for N64.5m for maintenance, N166.6m for fuelling of the generators and N82.2m to purchase a new generator, a combined N313.4m.

Adeboye Hits FG On Border Closure, VAT Increase, Others
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-13-2019, 07:45 PM - No Replies

General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has kicked against the proposed increase of VAT from 5 percent to 7.5 percent by the federal government.

The proposal, he said, will further increase the burdens on Nigerians.

Adeboye also said the proposed reintroduction of toll gates on federal government was insensitive.
The plan, he said, shouldn’t be considered at a time most federal roads were in pitiable conditions.
The federal government, as far as Adeboye is concerned, should refocus its plans and programmes toward initiatives that would lessen the suffering and burdens of Nigerians.

He spoke last Sunday at the Special Independence Day Celebration of the church at its headquarters, RCCG, Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

The programme tagged Arise attracted worshippers and traditional rulers led by the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, His royal highness, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

He further pointed out the closure of borders to importation of rice was ill-conceived because it has made the stable unavailable to most Nigerians.
Adeboye said as the country celebrates at 59, the federal government should henceforth focus on initiating policies that would lessen the sufferings and burdens of Nigerians.

Such policies, he said, should have the capability to move the country out of doldrums, make her arise and pitch her tent with comity of nations.
Speaking through the Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, Adeboye emphasised a lot of policies of government are not helping Nigerians.

He lamented many Nigerians were suffering when the wealth of their nation are just in few hands who have refused to let go.

The respected preacher also criticised how banks are fixing interest rate, which he described as one of the highest in the world, saying the development was making business environment unfavourable for Nigerians.

He bemoaned the condition of commoners, saying it was insensitive for the federal government to consider bringing back toll gates when the roads were in bad conditions.

Oba Gbadebo appreciated God for the independence celebration, saying that God has helped us a lot as Nigeria has remained one the federation that has remain strong and indivisible since independence in 1960.

He appealed to Nigeria leaders to consolidate on the success and achievements made so far in Nigeria by working for the interest of the people rather than their personal interest and gain.

He restated that leaders in position of authority are put there by God and will one day give account of their stewardship to him.

Germany bans weapon sales to Turkey over Syria offensive

Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on Saturday October 12, announced a ban on arms export to Turkey over its targeted attack on the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia — a force that has played a key role against the Islamic State group in Syria.

Maas further revealed that the German government had implemented a very restrictive route for arms exports to Ankara since 2016, especially after the Turkish military offensive against the northern Syrian region of Afrin.

Quote:“In the context of the Turkish military offensive in northeastern Syria, the government will not issue any new permits for any military equipment that could be used in Syria by Turkey,” Maas told Bild.

However commenting on the ban, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu said it will only make Turkey stronger.

Quote:"Let me put it this way: This is a vital question for us and a question of national security, a question of survival," Cavusoglu said. "No matter what anyone does, no matter whether it is an arms embargo or anything else, it only strengthens us."
"Fifteen years ago we produced only 20% of the goods we needed, now we produce over 70% — all this only strengthens us," he told DW.

Recall Turkey launched a military operation in Syria on Wednesday October 9, after U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew some U.S. troops who have been protecting Kurdish forces in the fight against the Islamic State.

Germany exported arms worth 243 million euros ($268 million) to Turkey in 2018, accounting for almost one third of its weapons exports, according to Bild Am Sonntag. In the first four months of 2019, Turkey received weapons from Germany worth 184 million euros, making it the biggest recipient country.

Flood sweeps 11-year-old boy, rescuer to death in Lagos

An 11-year-old boy and his rescuer were swept away at the Aburo and Iyana-Ipaja axis of Lagos state today October 12th.

According to reports, the 11 year old boy and his sibling were sent by their parents to buy cooking gas. As they returned home, they unknowning walked into an open drainage that was covered with flood water. It has been raining heavily in Lagos since 3am.

An OPC member popularly known as Wasiu Stubborn, heard the cry for help of the two boys and attempted to save them. Sadly, he was swept away in the process.

A Community Development Association leader in Oki Town, Solomon Agboghoroma, who confirmed the incident, told PM news

Quote:“This rain started almost four or five days ago but the one of last night was one of the heaviest and it started at about 2:15 a.m. and by 3:15 a.m., it came with full force and everywhere was flooded. Around 7:30 a.m. or 8:00 a.m., we learnt that an OPC member, who was a security guard in one of the gas stations here had been carried away by flood while trying to rescue two children who came to buy gas, but fell into the drain.
“The gas station had not opened because of the flood as the whole place including the canal had overflowed its banks. The children fell inside the gutter. This OPC boy went and rescued one but in the process of rescuing the second child, he and the boy fell into the canal and that was the end''.

Another eyewitness, Suleiman Adedokun,  said Wasiu tried to save the little boy.

Quote:“Wasiu tried, succeeded in catching the second boy but his effort to come out of the drain proved futile as it was not easy for him due to the force of the water. It is the bad road and narrow culvert that caused these deaths because these two children that fell inside the drain didn’t know it was there as water covered everywhere''.

SERAP Gives Abdullahi Candido 14 Days To Withdraw Life Pensions For Ex-Officials

SERAP gives Abuja council chair 14 days to withdraw life pensions for ex-officials

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) has sent an open letter to Mr Abdullahi Adamu Candido, chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), urging him to use his good offices and leadership position to “urgently withdraw and revoke the bill/edict for the unconstitutional and illegal payment of life pensions to former chairmen, vice-chairmen, speakers and other officials of AMAC.”

SERAP said: “if the bill/edict is not withdrawn within 14 days of the receipt and/or publication of this letter, we will take all appropriate legal action to challenge the illegality and to compel you to comply with our request.”

Under the bill/edict, AMAC’s past council chairmen would receive an annual pension of N500,000; former vice chairmen are to receive N300,000 each while former speakers will be paid N200,000 each. The payment of life pensions is expected to cost the council several millions of naira of taxpayers’ money annually.

In the letter dated 11 October 2019 and signed by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, the organization said: “The payment of life pensions to the council’s chairmen, vice-chairmen and speakers would cause massive financial crisis and cripple the council’s ability to discharge its mandates of providing public goods and services to the people of Abuja. It would also put in jeopardy citizens’ access to those services.”

According to SERAP: “The payment of life pensions to AMAC’s officials undermines the very concept of representative government, as it is a flagrant violation of the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 (as amended) and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission Act. It amounts to an abuse of official power, position and resources for personal gains, and reverses the notion of government as public’s servant and not its master.”

The letter read in part: “The payment of life pensions to AMAC’s former officials is a copycat of the unconstitutional and illegal life pension laws that have been passed by several of the 36 state governments in Nigeria. Your council is setting a bad precedent as the first local council in Nigeria to introduce life pensions for its officials. This would send a dangerous message to other councils and risks opening the floodgates of life pension bills/edicts in several of the 774 local governments across the country.”

“Rather than spending millions of taxpayers’ money on life pensions, your leadership should prioritise addressing the poor state of basic amenities and deficits in educational institutions, primary healthcare facilities, potable water, sanitation and the basic infrastructural needs of the residents within the council’s area.”

“The leadership of AMAC ought to be exercised for the purposes of providing public goods and services to the people of Abuja and not to grant personal benefits for past officials. The AMAC is constitutionally and statutorily obliged to act in the public interest. Implementing the edict would defeat the very purpose for which your council is established, that is, to provide public goods and services.”

“Granting life pensions to council’s chairmen, vice-chairmen and speakers would seriously undermine the accountabilityof the council and citizens’ trust in its leadership.”

“People have the right to honest and faithful performance by public officials, who are under a fiduciary duty to the public. And no public officer should put himself/herself in a position in which his/her personal interest conflicts or is likely to conflict with the performance of the functions of his office. That is exactly the case with the life pensions.”

“The public trust to AMAC leaders and officials is not without its corresponding burden: accountability to the public is the obligation of all who hold public offices, including the position of chairman of AMAC. This notion of accountability requires you to take immediate steps to withdraw the life pensions bill/edict.”

“You reportedly stated that the payment of life pensions was meant to ‘honour past heroes of the council who sacrificed their talents and energy in building the council. This is to celebrate Nigeria’s 59th independence anniversary as well as celebrate the 35th anniversary since AMAC’s creation. It would be a disservice if the past leaders and ambassadors of the council are not honoured.’”
