Plane forced to make an emergency landing after brawl breaks out between seven male passengers(video)

An EasyJet airplane that was flying from Manchester to Tenerife was forced to make an emergency landing in Faro, Portugal after a fight broke out mid-air between a group of men two hours after the journey started.

According to witnesses, a group of four men started punching each other at the back of the plane and when passengers and the air-hostesses tried to settle them and tone the quarrel down by carrying them to the front seat corner, they started fighting again, which led to one of the men involved in the brawl spitting on the eye of a woman.
“We couldn’t believe what was happening. We just wanted to go on holiday," According to an eyewitness, Nathan Belford to Independent UK.

Nathan said the men were all travelling for a party and then 'howled with rage' and picked a fight with cabin crew and another group of guys when things didn't go their way.
"They complained bitterly to the stewardess and said some passengers started pinching drinks from the front of the plane".
“Things first kicked off when the group at the back got into a fight. Punches were thrown, and the stewardess broke them up.

“But then they kicked off again, and passengers actually intervened to calm them down.
“One woman got in the way, but a guy spat in her eye. It was disgusting.

After the emergency landing, airport police arrested 7 men and took them into custody.

An easyJet spokesman said: “We can confirm that flight EZY1903 from Manchester to Tenerife on 3 October diverted to Faro as a result of some passengers on board behaving disruptively and was met by police on arrival.
“The passengers were removed by police and the aircraft continued onto Tenerife.
“easyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.
“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously, and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board.
“The safety and wellbeing of customers and crew is our highest priority.”

Heartwarming photos of a couple with Down Syndrome that have been married for 27 years

Gareth and Deana Tobias  who are officially the world’s first couple with Down’s syndrome to get married, are still inseparable 27 years later.

Gareth spoke about his love for his wife and bragged about having 3 girlfriends but says he chose Deana because she chose to put up with his excesses.

Gareth Tobias was just 17 when he met 19-year-old Deana and they both eventually tied the knot in front of 40 friends and family on July 4, 1992.

Gareth in a wide ranging interview with Metro uk said: ‘Before I met Deana I had three girlfriends. ‘I chose the right one, and that’s Deana.’
‘I put up with Deana and she puts up with me.’
Deana, 57, talking about the relationship said: ‘I thought “he’s ginger”. I like gingers. He had a beard at the time as well. A red one.’
‘I’m ginger as well.’

Gareth and Deana’s marriage is the longest of any couple with Down’s syndrome. The others are Paul and Kris Scharoun-DeForge, from Syracuse, New York, whose 25-year marriage ended with Paul’s death last year, and Maryanne and Tommy Pilling, from Essex, who’ve been married for 24 years.

Down syndrome (DS or DNS), also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. It is usually associated with physical growth delays, mild to moderate intellectual disability, and characteristic facial features.

Bodies of 13 women from West Africa and Tunisia recovered after migrant boat capsizes in the Mediterranean

Italian coastguards recovered the bodies of 13 women who died after a crowded migrant boat capsized in heavy weather as rescue boats approached it off the coast of Lampedusa, an island south of Sicily, local authorities said on Monday.

The coastguard said rescue vessels had picked up 22 survivors, but they feared many other people might have died in the accident - the latest in a long line of sea disasters to hit migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean and reach Europe.

One of the survivors said she had lost her sister and eight-month-old niece in the tragedy.

The ship, which had set sail from Tunisia, had been carrying around 50 people, almost all from Tunisia and west Africa, the U.N. migration agency said.

Italian coastguards received an alert late on Sunday that a boat was in difficulty. Two rescue vessels found the ship, which was already listing, just after midnight about 6 nautical miles from the coast of Lampedusa.

“In order to proceed with the transfer operation, the naval units approached the small boat, but the adverse weather conditions and the sudden movement of migrants caused the vessel to overturn,” the coastguard said in a statement.

Coffins were lined up on the quay of the small port of Lampedusa as a coastguard ship entered harbor on Monday, bringing the bodies to shore.

Italian magistrates have opened an investigation into the disaster, with a magistrate from Sicily flying to Lampedusa on Monday to lead the probe.

Charlie Yaxley, a spokesperson for the U.N. refugee agency, the UNHCR, said more than 1,000 people had died in the Mediterranean so far this year, most trying to cross from lawless Libya to Europe.
“This highlights once again that urgent action is needed to address the situation in the Mediterranean,” he said.

The Italian interior ministry says some 7,939 migrants have reached Italy by boat so far this year, down 63% on the same period in 2018 and 93% on 2017 levels.

Italy has introduced tough laws over the past year to dissuade charity rescue ships from operating in the Mediterranean in an effort to cut back on the number of possible asylum-seekers reaching the country.

The government has also urged both Tunisia and Libya to do more to prevent migrant boats from setting sail.

Strategy in Madden NFL 20 Ultimate Team
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: mut20coinsigvault - 10-08-2019, 04:28 AM - No Replies

As we said, there are only three proven ways you can get the best players and create the best team in Madden NFL 20 Ultimate Team. Following is how you get an edge in your Ultimate Team mode.
Have a Few Hundred Dollars Laying Around?
Well, the best yet most expensive way is to spend money. You can buy packs that can unlock the best players but the picks are random. It works the same way the FIFA Ultimate Team works. You spend plenty of money and cross your fingers.
While this is an option, we do not recommend this as we don’t support microtransactions. You’ll be drained before you know it but there is a way to control it if you are adamant at putting together the best team without much effort.
Create a budget and do not go above it. If you get the players you need, great if not, there are other ways.
Well, the best way and the one we recommend is grinding the solos. Solo battles are back in Madden 20 Ultimate Team and can bring you a plethora of MUT. Each week in Madden Ultimate Team 20 there are four new AI teams in Solo battles. Your team will face any one of these teams and earn as much Battle Points as possible.
These Battle Points will determine which reward you get every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before a complete refresh happens.
Practice makes perfect, remember? The more you play the better you can get at beating teams that’ll destroy you on paper. Madden is the kind of game that requires time and dedication if you are new to the franchise. Two teenagers have been arrested after allegedly robbing the grave of an 84-year-old grandmother and having sex with her corpse.

The pair, who cannot be identified, were reportedly caught after family of the deceased went to visit her grave the day after she was buried on September 29 in Davao, the Philippines.

According to Mail Online, they found that the tomb of Isabel Bastatas had been disturbed and her legs were poking out of the white coffin. They believe Isabel's dead body had been violated after she was discovered in the morning without undergarments. Her vagina was also visible and there were signs of intercourse.

Digos City police have confirmed they are investigating the alleged necrophilia at the Digos City Public Cemetery.

Lieutenant Colonel Ernesto Castillo said: 'The arrest was made after witnesses came to us to help with the investigations.

'They were pointing to one of the suspects, 'Erwin' and another companion.'

After it was discovered that the two teenage suspects are minors, they were transferred to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare Development Office. They both denied the allegations against them.

#SexForGrades: University of Lagos shuts down ‘Cold Room’ where lecturers ‘sexually harass’ students

The University of Lagos has announced the shut down of the ‘Cold Room’, where lecturers reportedly harass students sexually.

This was disclosed by Taiwo Oloyede, the Principal Assistant Registrar (Communication Unit) of the university. The ‘Cold Room’ was mentioned by a lecturer of the school, Boniface Igbeneghu, who was caught on video sexually harassing an undercover journalist who posed as an admission seeker.

Igbeneghu, in the BBC undercover documentary, described the secret place where lecturers meet to “touch students breast” at the staff club of the university.

“They call the place cold room,” he said. He then explained that female students must pay to have good grades. “The so called ‘Cold Room’ is a Functions Room that may have been abused because this is a deviation from the purpose for which it was created (meetings, seminars, events, etc)” the university spokesperson said.

Oloyede also confirmed that Mr Igbeneghu had been suspended.

#SexForGrades: Ghanaian lecturer, Yaw Gyampo vows to sue BBC

Yaw Gyampo, a professor of political science at the University of Ghana, has vowed to sue the BBC over its sex-for-mark video documentary.

Gyampo was implicated in a 13-minute video documentary released by the BBC Africa Eye on Monday. The professor described the documentary as an entrapment, insisting that he was never involved in the act saying the documentary could not establish anything against him.

Quote:“I have been counseled to be silent on a matter of entrapment masterminded by a certain unscrupulous people, with the aid of BBC (African Eye) against me. I have a lot to say about this matter. But I am suing the BBC for defamation tomorrow, so I will keep some of the facts to myself for now.
“Let me state however, that I have not involved myself in the BBC’s so-called sex for grades and will never do so. Their own video documentary evidence could not establish this. I am aware of my University’s Sexual Harassment Policy and I have always adhered to its dogmas.
“The lady involved in my informal conversation, was not my student and she wasn’t also a student from the University of Ghana where I teach. I therefore cannot decipher how I could manipulate the grade of a non-student.
“The BBC ignored all her contributions to our conversation. They ignored all her messages she sent to me. They ignored my objections and letters written to refute their allegations. They also edited the video to suit their purpose.
“While I prepare to sue the BBC for carrying out the most bogus and unprofessional piece of documentary in the world so far, I wish to remind them that Ghana and for that matter, Africa, has long thrown out the yoke of colonialism. I have not engaged in any so-called sex for grades and I will stay true to my calling in doing my best for God, students and country.”

A bride allegedly caught her groom sexually assaulting one of her bridesmaids right before their wedding and she went ahead to marry him. Now, the grrom is facing a sexual assault charge.

Daniel Carney, 28, is charged with "involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person.'' He allegedly assaulted a 29-year-old bridesmaid at his wedding party on August 30 at the Shawnee Inn in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, police said.

The bridesmaid told investigators that friends and family were drinking alcohol on the Delaware River while celebrating the couple’s upcoming wedding on September 1, according to court documents. Investigators said the bridesmaid got too intoxicated while at the river and the bride-to-be asked Carney to help the bridesmaid get back into the hotel parking lot.

She said that she blacked out again and later woke up with Carney fondling her in the locker room. She added that her bikini bottoms had been removed.

During the alleged assault, the bridesmaid said the bride entered the locker room. She adds that she remembers the bride screaming at Carney. Police said the couple then got into a fight in the parking lot.

State police said they obtained surveillance footage from the hotel that shows Carney pulling the victim into the locker room as she was "extremely unsteady on her feet."

$11m Cyber Fraud: Court orders forfeiture of N280m traced to Invictus Obi

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, October 7th temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government the N280,555,010.65 found in bank accounts belonging to two companies owned by Obinwanne Okeke also known as Invictus Obi.

The companies are: Invictus Oil and Gas Ltd and Invictus Investment Limited. Okeke is standing trial in the United States of American for an alleged $11m cyber fraud following his indictment alongside 77 Nigerians.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) told Justice Rilwan Aikawa that Okeke, 31, was “a strong leader of a cybercrime syndicate specialized in business email compromise.” Justice Aikawa made an order for the temporary forfeiture of the sums of N240,250,904.46 and N40,304,106.19, which the anti-graft agency said it found in the Nigerian bank accounts of Invictus Oil and Gas Limited and Invictus Investment Limited, respectively.

EFCC counsel Rotimi Oyedepo told the court that the funds were reasonably suspected to be proceeds of cybercrime and urged the judge to order the forfeiture to the Federal Government to prevent Okeke from dissipating same.

In an affidavit filed in support of the application, EFCC investigator, Ariyo Muritala, said the commission assigned him and others to investigate a request for information on Okeke and three others by the United States Department of Justice, Office of the Legal Attache, US Consulate General.

Quote:“I know as a fact and verily believe that our investigation has revealed the following ear-aching and mind-boggling findings: (a) That the Obinwanne George Okeke is a strong leader of a cybercrime syndicate specialized in business email compromise.
(b) That the said syndicate has defrauded many innocent and unsuspecting victims (g) That the said Obiwanne George Okeke has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States of America for cybercrime-related offences (h) That if these funds are not forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria Obiwanne George Okeke and his cronies will dissipate same,” Muritala said in the affidavit.
Oyedepo argued that Justice Aikawa had the power to make the interim forfeiture order by virtue of Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and other related Fraud Offence Act No. 14, 2006. The judge agreed with him and ordered the temporary forfeiture of the funds.

Okeke was in 2016 celebrated by Forbes International as one of Africa’s most outstanding 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30 and described by the magazine as “proof that there is hope for Africa.”

He was arrested in August this year by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation as the ringleader of a cybercrime syndicate, which had defrauded a number of American citizens to the tune of $11m “through fraudulent wire transfer instructions in a massive coordinated business email compromise scheme.”

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the alleged kidnapper to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

A 25-year-old Austrian man killed his ex-girlfriend, three members of her family and her new boyfriend in a pre-dawn shooting spree on Sunday at an upscale ski resort and then gave himself up to police.

His relationship with the 19-year-old identified as Nadine had ended two months earlier, but at around four in the morning he turned up at the chalet where she and her family were staying at Kitzbuehel in the Austrian Alps.

After the teenager's father turned him away, he returned to his own house, grabbed his brother's legally owned pistol and went back to the chalet.

When his ex-girlfriend's father opened the door again at around 5:30 am, he shot him, before going on to shoot her brother and her mother, according to the account he gave police.

He climbed a balcony to reach his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, who were sleeping in a locked apartment inside the house and shot them dead.

He then surrendered at the nearest police station, telling officers he killed five people.

Why CCB Will Not Release Asset Declarations Of Buhari, Osinbajo, Others
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 06:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:Yusuf Akinpelu

The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Mohammed Isah, has explained why the outfit will not release the asset details of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, despite public requests.

He said this is because “the National Assembly has not set the guidelines for the Bureau to do so.”

Speaking at a News Agency of Nigeria forum in Abuja, Mr Isah cited the stipulations of the constitution as well as the FOI Act as the Bureau’s guiding principle.

Paragraph 3 of the third schedule of the constitution empowers the Bureau to retain in its custody details of assets declared by a public office holder and make them available for inspection upon request by any citizen of Nigeria, on the terms and conditions prescribed by the National Assembly.

“So, if anybody as a private person or private organisation wants to access asset declaration or information contained in asset declaration of any public officer, those conditions laid down by FOI Act must be fulfilled,” Mr Isah said.

The official did not say why the CCB has not asked the National Assembly to prescribe the conditions. He also did not state if the CCB plans to ask the National Assembly to do so.

The FOI Act  establishes the right of anyone to request information in the custody of any public official, agency or institution, with the exception of security files which are not of public concern.

Requests

In 2015, a coalition of groups requested the Bureau to make public the asset declaration forms filed by Messrs Buhari and Osinbajo.

However, the CCB declined their requests, citing “personal privacy” as its reason.

Many questioned the lack of consistency by the Bureau, especially when the details of assets filed by the former chief justice of the federation, Walter Onnoghen, was accessed by Dennis Aghanya, a former aide to the president.

On the heel of the suspension of Mr Onnoghen, after he was accused of withholding the full declaration of his assets, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) again requested “details of asset declarations by successive presidents and state governors between 1999 and 2019, including details of declarations made immediately after taking offices and thereafter”.

The Bureau again turned down the request.

It said it “would offend the right to privacy of presidents and state governors”.

The group has since sued the CCB.

Unwilling president

Before his first election as president, Mr Buhari had promised to make public a comprehensive list of his declaration at the CCB. Although he denied ever making such promise, PREMIUM TIMES found his denial to be untrue.

He did submit his declaration particulars to the CCB, and the Bureau followed this with its verification but the president reneged on his promise to make public the content of his declaration.

After a public backlash, the president, through a statement from his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, in September 2015, reeled out only sketchy details of assets and liabilities filed by President Buhari.

Mr Buhari, according to the statement, was said to have N30 million in his bank account before taking office on May 29, 2015.

This is alongside five houses in Kaduna, Daura, Kano and Abuja; two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt.

Also, Mr Buhari was said to have farms, an orchard, ranch, livestock including 270 cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees, and a “number of cars”.

Osinbajo

Vice President Osinbajo in his declaration said he had N94 million and $900,000 in his bank account.

He also owned a 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos; a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi; a 2-bedroom flat along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England.

Also, together with his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, Mr Osinbajo was said to be a shareholder in six Lagos-based firms: Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.

Other details like the addresses and value of the listed houses and assets and their liabilities were withheld in the release.

Also, the assets of their spouses and unmarried children under 18, as the law demands, were not contained therein.

Again in 2019, after Mr Buhari’s reelection, the presidential spokesperson, Mr Shehu, said: “the (declaration) forms, as signed by the President and sworn to before a Judge of Abuja High Court, showed no significant changes in assets as declared in 2015 by him.”

“There are no new houses, no new bank accounts at home and abroad and there are no new shares acquired,” Mr Shehu added, without further details.

Many public officers not complying

Ironically, the Chairman of the CCB also berated the level of compliance by public officers.

“Our main predicament is the issue of enlightenment. People have little or no knowledge about their obligations or relations to compliance with the Code of Conduct for public officers. So, the level of compliance is not encouraging at all,” Mr Isah said.

Part 2, Schedule 5 of the constitution highlights public officers as: the President, vice-president, all members and staff of the national and state legislative houses, governors and deputy governors, all judicial officers and staff of courts of law, all state and federal political appointees, ambassadors, high commissioners and other officers of Nigeria missions abroad, and DGs and chairmen of all parastatals and agencies of federal and state governments, military, police, immigration, customs, prisons, political office holders and all federal, state and local government civil servants.

These public officers are mandated by the provisions of Paragraph 11 of Part 1 to the Fifth Schedule of the constitution to declare their asset and those of their unmarried children under 18 years to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), before and after their tenures.

Meanwhile, the official admitted that the agency has been “a bit toothless in biting corrupt officials” in the public sector.

He said the agency will “up its game”.

“The bureau was neglected because of its non-performance, and we are not here to fail. We are here to achieve and make the bureau better than we met it. So, in the next few days, the turnout in terms of the success of our cases in court will be very impressive,’’ Mr Isah said.

The CCB, established in 1979, has the core mandate to check corrupt practices in the Nigerian public service by ensuring public officers declare their assets to the Bureau.

Concerns In National Assembly Over Non-Payment Of N8.1bn Severance Benefits

Clerk denies lodging allowance in interest-yielding account

Quote:Chuks Okocha in Abuja

Concerns have been raised over the non-payment of the N8.1 billion severance allowance of lawmakers and aides who served in the eighth National Assembly, which is contained in the 2019 Appropriations Bill.

The Clerk of National Assembly has, however, denied the allegations that the allowance was lodged in banks to yield interest for the management of the National Assembly.

But the former lawmakers and their aides said they were not convinced by the explanation as the funds were on first line charge.

The 109 senators, 360 members of the House of Representatives, and over 3,000 legislative aides, who were appointed in various capacities in the federal legislature, had accused the National Assembly management and leadership of failing to pay their stipulated severance funds, more than four months after the end of the tenure.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in its Remuneration Package for Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders, senators, members of the House of Representatives and many of the legislative aides recommends payment of 300 per cent of annual basic pay to them as severance entitlements.

Each of the 109 senators and 360 House members has five legislative aides, totaling 545 and 1,800 respectively or a cumulative total of 2,345, who are collectively entitled to varying amounts that add up to N8.1 billion.

The additional benefits of principal officers in both the upper and lower chambers include a large number of additional aides serving as chiefs of staff, advisers, special assistants and others and severance packages are to be paid to them too.

According to sources at the National Assembly, the severance benefits for senators and members of the lower house have been finalised while a special committee, which is working on those of the legislative aides, is about finalising details so that legislative aides can be paid before the end of next month.

The lawmakers, including those who were re-elected, already had part of their severance benefits deducted for payment on ‘depreciated asset and equipment’ such as television sets, refrigerators and computers, among others.
THISDAY gathered that the entitlements of each aide will receive will depend on his salary grade level and the number of years spent serving his principal.

“Severance benefits of those on Level 16 and above are calculated with the formula of 38.5% multiplied by the annual salary and then, multiplied by 300 per cent for those who served for upwards of four years while those who served for two years will have theirs calculated on the basis of 150 per cent,” one of the sources said.

A senator who served in the eight Senate, told THISDAY that he had tried to reach the management of the National Assembly to find out why the funds have been delayed, and had been told that the money had been approved, but the payment was yet to be made.

“I don’t know which is worse – the fact that the money which has been approved has not been paid; or the fact that the funds are not available, despite the exorbitant spending that the lawmakers are doing with the purchase of luxury vehicles.

“The severance benefits have not been paid but were duly appropriated in the 2019 budget. So, where is it now? The Senate and House have commenced moves to buy luxury cars for their legislative duties but the benefits of those who served in the 8th National Assembly have not been paid. Is it how it should be done? The broom used in sweeping away the old wife will still await the second wife. This message is directed to the members of the ninth National Assembly to see to it that our severance benefits are paid.

“I don’t want to believe the rumours that have been going around that the funds are kept in banks by the National Assembly’s management to yield interest for them, but with this obnoxious delay, I really don’t know what to believe anymore,” the former senator added.

Another former lawmaker who served in the Eight House of Representatives and is now a senator, said committees had been meeting since the end of the Eighth Assembly but no progress was recorded in the how to pay the benefits.

“I don’t understand what the delay is. Everyone is afraid to speak out because they are afraid that they will get penalised if the payment comes. I know that people, some of my former colleagues, have been reaching out to me to get me to find out via back-channels when the payments will be made, but I don’t really know what to tell them.

“Many families need this money to start new lives. Many people are banking on these funds to plan and start new businesses. The National Assembly needs to stop this secrecy and tell us what is happening,” he added.

A senior legislative aide (SLA) to one of the former principal officers in the House, also stated that many of the former members of the National Assembly aides are worried, due to the fact that even the leaders of the legislative aides forum and other organised bodies in the National Assembly are silent on the issue of the payment of their severance.

“By now, we should have seen the Chairman of NASSLAF protesting and calling for this payment. I suspect complicity on the part of some of the leaders of the legislative aides forum, NASSLAF”, he said.

However, Media Aide to the Clerk of National Assembly, Mr. Andrew Aota, dismissed the allegation that the Clerk lodged funds set aside for severance benefits in any interest-yielding accounts .

He said: “The said severance package for the 8th Assembly, like any other funds, are domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and can only be released for whatever purpose if, approved by the Federal Ministry of Finance .

“What the Clerk of National Assembly (CNA) as the head of the National Assembly bureaucracy did was to write the relevant authorities for the release of the severance package for the 8th National Assembly and, that money has not been released up to this moment. I can assure you that once the money is released, payment will commence immediately. It is therefore, totally false that the severance package for the 8th National Assembly has been released and its yielding interests in the private accounts of the CAN.”

Forces Plot Osinbajo’s Exit; Mull ‘Onnoghen’ Treatment - The Sun
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 04:00 PM - No Replies

Quote:Adetutu Folasade-Koyi, Abuja

Forces against Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, are reportedly considering giving him the ‘Onnoghen’ treatment.

In addition to pushing for Osinbajo’s investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commssion (EFCC), the forces are reportedly insisting that the vice president should account for Social Investment Programme (SIP) funds which were under his supervision before the general election.

In January, a non-governmental organisation, Anti-Corruption and Research-Based Data Initiative (ARDI) forwarded a petition to the Code of Conduct Bureaun(CCB), wherein it detailed fraud allegations against then Chief Justice of the Federation, Walter Onnoghen.

ARDI Executive Secretary, Dennis Aghanya, explained then that his petition against Onnoghen was to save Nigeria from collapse and that his organisation commenced investigation against him in 2018.

That was the plank upon which Onnoghen was arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
On October 3, the Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) charted a similar path when it called on the EFCC to probe Osinbajo in an alleged N90 billion released to him by the Federal Inland Revenue Service for the elections.

In the petition, CHRICED said the allegations were quite weighty and worrisome.

The petition signed by Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi reads: “On the basis of this express declaration from the president, to the effect that public funds will not be deployed to fund electioneering purpose of the ruling party, the Nigerian people believed and trusted the president’s pledge.

“However, the claims by Timi Frank imply that the ruling party did not adhere to the directives of the president on his proclaimed non-use of public funds to prosecute the election in favour of the ruling party.

“If these allegations are proven to be true, it would also mean that the campaign finance legislation governing the electoral process, as enshrined in the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, had been flagrantly violated.

“As a former Deputy Publicity Secretary of the ruling party with the benefit of wide contacts in the seat of power, Timi Frank could as well be privy to information, which the rest of us may not know.

“As such, only a meticulous investigation of these claims will bring the truth to life.
“In the light of these developments and their implications for the legitimacy of the government, and by extension the anti-corruption crusade, CHRICED calls for a robust, painstaking and thorough investigation of these claims with a view to verifying whether they are true or false.

This step from your honourable Commission is critical, and will help clear the air, and douse the suspicion, which the allegations have precipitated since they began circulating.

“If the vice president is culpable as these allegations claim, then he should be made to face the consequences of such culpability.
“However, if the claimant making the allegations is found to be deceiving the public, appropriate steps should be taken to hold him to account; in line with the rule of law.”

It was gathered that although the vice president has “no problem with his boss,” the forces against Osinbajo are insisting that his role in the Federal Governments backed SIP must be investigated.

A source privy to the plot added: “At an interactive session with women in the Presidential Villa, early this year, it was the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, who raised the alarm that the federal government SIP was a failure in the North. The first lady even said that the SIP failed in the state of the SSA to the president, in charge of the programme. These and other allegations about SIP funds are being bandied about, against the VP.

“There is a formal petition before the EFCC. They must act on it.”

Daily Sun’s efforts, yesterday, to ascertain what EFCC is doing about the petition yielded no result.

Telephone calls and text messages to EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, went unanswered.
Regardless, two weeks ago, the vice president met with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CN), where he dismissed the fraud allegations as “politics of 2023.”

Daily Sun gathered that at the meeting held at Akinola Agudu House, inside the Presidential Villa, Osinbajo insisted there was “no N90 billion anywhere,” and that he is ready to defend his integrity anywhere.

Sagamu-Ogijo Road: A Look At One Of Nigeria's Worst Roads (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 03:56 PM - No Replies

The Sagamu-Ogijo road has come under the spotlight once again and this time, not for the good. Ogun State has one of the worst roads in Nigeria despite being the third richest state in Nigeria. From Ota to Sagamu, to Yewa to Ado-Ota among many other places in the Gateway State, its being a sorry state for the road users who ply these roads daily.

According to the images seen by AutoReportNG, the state of NNPC depot the Sagamu/Ogijo/Ikorodu road calls for urgent rehabilitation work. We gathered that reconstruction works are ongoing at Sagamu road by the Arab Contractors but it seems they have stopped working or nothing seem done. For example, we noticed some construction works right from LASPOTECH towards Odongunyan all the way to Ile-Oba at Ogijo but the contractors are not on-site, the portion already done has started giving way due to heavy vehicular activities and coupled with the rain.

In September, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun disclosed that Lagos and Ogun State Government are planning to commercialize some federal roads in their states.

The roads according to Punch are Ikorodu-Ogijo-Sagamu, Epe-Ijebu- Ode and the Lagos-Ota-Abeokua roads.

Abiodun said Ogun and Lagos State government are planning to engage in Public-Private Partnership in the construction and rehabilitation of the three roads.

Abiodun said he had met with Sanwo-Olu and both of them have agreed to commercialise the roads by bringing in private investors to fund and toll the roads.

He said, “I met with my counterpart, Sanwo-Olu and we decided that as a matter of urgency we need to take over some roads which include; Epe-Ijebu road, Ikorodu-Sagamu road and Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta road so as to reduce the population of the people passing the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“I and Sanwo-Olu met with the president to hand over those three roads to us, we sat down with the President and explained things to him.

“He told us to put it in writing, we wrote a joint letter which has our two logos on it, we both signed it and I personally handed it over to Mr President, and a few weeks ago, the president handed over the road to us.”

It will be recalled in 2018 that the federal government claimed to be reconstructing the Sagamu-Ogijo road and they claimed that the road has reached 70% completion. This is 2019, while we await the completion date, these are some of the photos of the axis as seen by AutoReportNG.

Oil prices on ebb tide as gloom gathers over global economy

Oil prices fell on Monday, extending last week’s heavy losses, with traders fearing the global economic slowdown will weigh on future oil demand growth while pegging hopes for a rebound on progress in talks this week on ending the U.S.-China trade war.
Brent crude futures LCOc1 edged down 28 cents to 58.09 dollars a barrel by 0300 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude CLc1 was at 52.64 dollars, down 17 cents.
Both contracts ended last week with a more-than-5 per cent decline after dismal manufacturing data from the United States and China, as the lingering row between the world’s top economies hurts global growth and raises the risk of recession.

U.S. and Chinese officials will meet in Washington on Oct. 10-11 in the next, much-anticipated fresh effort to work out a deal.
On the supply side, a faster-than-expected resumption in Saudi Arabia’s production after a Sept. 14 attack on key production facilities also exerted downward pressure on oil prices, although the Middle East remained tense.
“The macro headwinds outweigh supply concerns for oil now, despite tensions in the Middle East and a reduced spare capacity pillow,” said Stephen Innes, Asia Pacific market strategist at AxiCorp.
In Iraq, the second-largest producer among the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, deadly anti-government unrest is posing the biggest security and political challenge so far to Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi’s year-old government.
Iraq’s oil exports of 3.43 million barrels per day (bpd) from Basra terminals could be disrupted if instability lasts for weeks, Ayham Kamel, Eurasia Group’s practice head for Middle East and North Africa, said in a note.
“Any oil production disruption would occur at a time when Saudi Arabia has lost a significant part of its energy system redundancies (spare capacity),” he said.

“While Saudi oil production is now close to 9.9 million bpd, it is not clear that the capacity is fully operational at 11.3 million bpd and the (attacked) Abqaiq facility has lost a significant part of its redundancy.”
Global supply also faces facility repair and maintenance pressures.

The Buzzard oil field in the British North Sea has been shut for pipe repair work, a spokesman from China’s CNOOC said on Friday.

Buzzard is the main contributor to the Forties crude stream, the largest of the five North Sea oil grades that underpin Brent crude futures.
Meanwhile Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Sunday it will close the Faregh oil field at Zueitina port for scheduled maintenance from Monday until Oct. 14.

Quote:A Federal High Court in Ibadan on Friday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to produce the 106 boxes containing the N900m allegedly stolen by two workers of Zenith Bank PLC.

NAN reports that the EFCC charged Bolade Ajuwan and Samuel Ogbiede alongside six Central Bank of Nigeria officials.

Specifically, the apex bank employees were alleged to have compromised the CBN’s briquette exercise by stealing huge mutilated higher denomination currencies meant to be exchanged for new notes.

The other bank workers allegedly acted as accomplices to the crime and also helped themselves to a sizeable part of the money.

When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.

Justice P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court gave the order after an EFCC witness, Saliu Kadir, testified alongside two CBN officials; Kolawole Babalola and Muniru Olaniran.

The EFCC said the 106 boxes contained interleaves and lower denominations such as N100, N50, N20 and even ordinary papers.

The judge adjourned the case till December 2 and December 3, 2019 for continuation of trial.

Kogi Elections: Plot To Disqualify Musa Wada Ongoing, 20M Bribe agreed - PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 12:39 PM - No Replies

Quote:Chuks Okocha in Abuja

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to use the state judiciary to disqualify its governorship candidate, Musa Wada by ensuring that his name does not appear on the ballot papers.

The plot, PDP said through a statement signed by Faruk Adejoh Audu, the Head of the Muda Audu Campaigns in the state, named both the state government and the PDP Vice Chairman Ogugu Ward 3, Olamaboro Local Government Area, Mr. John Abraham as the main culprits.

The party said that the Kogi State government, and the All Progressives Congresses (APC) have perfected plans to use the Kogi State judiciary to disqualify Audu for the violence that took place during the PDP governorship primary election that resulted in one death and injuries to many in the state.

PDP in Kogi state said that the pliant ward chairman of PDP, Mr. Edward Onoja, who is from the same local government area with the running mate of Governor Yahaya Bello, was induced with the sum of N20 million to agree to be used as a litigant to undermine the primaries of the PDP.

“As at the time of the conversation, this rural PDP executive member of humble means has already been generously given the sum of one million to meet four lawyers including a Senior Advocate of Nigerian(SAN) hired by Bello’s government to execute their atrocious plot. We challenge the outgoing government to deny these revelations.

“We heard of this plot immediately it was hatched and expected that they will go to court and serve us with the processes to enable us join issues immediately, but it’s now obvious that there’s a sinister twist to even this craven process because whilst there’s been reports of the suit in the media since almost three weeks ago, we have neither been served nor have we been able to confirm in what court it was instituted or if it was instituted at all”.

PDP in the state further stated that the Bello campaign has continued to boast and threaten that the PDP will not have a candidate at the polls until the court has decided.

According to the statement from PDP in the state, “the latest of these threats was the one uttered by the campaign Director General, Former Senator Representing Kogi West District, Mr. Smart Adeyemi at a press conference in Lokoja on Friday.

“This is the third time Mr. Adeyemi is openly bragging that the PDP candidate will be excluded from the ballot because its primaries were flawed. Before him, Mr Bello’s running mate had equally bragged in a WhatsApp chatroom that the PDP will have no candidate because the primaries were inconclusive.

“The lynchpin of their desperate confidence is based on the sporadic gun attack on the venue of the primaries when the process was drawing to a close.

“If anyone ever doubted those behind the criminal attack which took place unchallenged in the presence of security agencies and less than half a kilometre from the Kogi State Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeyemi and Mr. Onoja seem to have not only confirmed the involvement of the outgoing government but they have also betrayed the motive of the vicious gun attack”, PDP stated.

PDP said that the attack was to prevent the Kogi PDP from presenting a candidate because the window for primaries in INEC timetable ended on September 5, a date which would have been impossible for the party to plan and hold another primaries if their gun attack had been successful in aborting the process.

PDP said, “rather than hide their face in shame for this failed criminal act, the desperate APC lords of violence have been unwittingly advertising their culpability in the dastard enterprise. What is unfolding from the gun attacks, to the clandestine litigation, the bravado of Mr. Adeyemi and Mr. Onoja declaring inconclusive a process certified even by INEC is a clear picture of a very petrified candidate Yahaya Bello who having squandered his tenure inflicting poverty, hunger and violence on the people and attracted ill-will is now desperate to use subterfuge to eliminate every viable opponent from the ballot,” PDP explained.

Anthony Sani: Stop Using IPOB Threaten North Over 2023 Presidency
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 10:49 AM - No Replies

Quote:2023 presidency: Don’t threaten North using IPOB, says ACF scribe

The Secretary-General of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Mr Anthony Sani, has warned that using the Indigenous People of Biafra to threaten the North over the 2023 presidency will not help the cause of the Igbo to produce the President when the time comes.

Referring to a statement credited to a former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, in an interview with a national newspaper (not The PUNCH) where the elder statesman noted that Igbo people might embrace IPOB if denied the presidency in 2023, the ACF scribe argued that using IPOB to blackmail the region was unfair.

According to Sani, in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, democracy is a contest of ideas and reasons and not a matter of threats and intimidation.

He said, “I have said democracy is a contest of ideas and reasons, and not by threats and intimidation that have no place in multiparty democracy. The presidency is secured in multiparty democracy through persuasions that seek to break barriers and build bridges. It is not obtained through affirmative action.

“I do not believe Ezeife could say what was reported. This is because he is too intelligent not to know that Nigeria practises multiparty democracy which allows political parties to present their candidates from any zone as part of their winning game plans.

“Ezeife also knows that there is no national consensus on rotation, power shift or zoning that is binding on political parties. That may explain why President Muhammadu Buhari contested with President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003 despite the deliberate concession of the presidency to the South-West because of Chief (M.K.O.) Abiola. That is also why former President Goodluck Jonathan contested with Buhari in 2011 and 2015.

“If ex-President Jonathan had won in 2015, the South would have held sway for over 16 years in the nascent democracy. You may also note that in 2019, presidential candidates emerged from both the North and the South. What is more, democracy is a contest of ideas and reasons and not a matter of threat and intimidation.

“Worst of all, the feisty doctor is reported as using IPOB to blackmail the nation. This is most unfair, especially when regard is paid to the fact that the threats can convey an avoidable impression that some elders of the South-East still nurse some desire to split the country through IPOB.”

But in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, Ezeife said the South-East would embrace persuasion to achieve its aspiration, adding that discussions were already ongoing with some groups in all parts of the country to achieve their aspiration.

“We are going to lobby every group; we would lobby from North to South, East to West. Some of us have started; one Revd. Obiora is foremost in this, he has started and he is in touch with some groups already. If we are not able to organise ourselves and 20 Igbo people come out to contest for the presidency, that will be our fault. But we want to ensure that we get in touch with the political players to organise themselves and ensure that they present themselves for Nigerians to see,” he said.

However, the President-General of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said all groups in the South-East would work to achieve the 2023 aspirations, adding that plans were underway to approach the two leading political parties as well.

“We will approach both major parties as platforms to actualise the Igbo 2023 presidency project. We would remind both the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party to first respect the gentleman agreement by zoning the party ticket to South, and then persuade the stakeholders in the South-South, South-West, to allow South-East to take a shot at the Presidency.

Seyi Law gets called out for writing a poem to Big Brother Naija's Mike and he responds

Comedian, Seyi Law wrote a poem dedicated to Big Brother Naija's Mike and when a follower called him out for it, he responded.

The poem spoke about Mike's qualities, compared him to ex BBN housemates, Thin Tall Tony and Dee One who didn't mention to other housemates that they were married. It also compared Mike to other men and found them wanting, then - strangely - took a turn to talk about Mike making love to his wife after his eviction in graphic details.

A follower who didn't approve of the poem called out the comedian, writing: "Can this epistolatory be written for Sowore who is fighting for his country. Misplaced priorities of the Nigerian youth.

And Seyi Law replied; "Go and write your own and leave me out of it. Thanks."

Below is Seyi Law's poem to Mike:

Quote:A MAN LIKE MIKE

Have you seen a real man?
Tall enough for every woman,
He is such an brilliance to behold,
He's gotten an impeccable character,
An amazing way to make you laugh,
He is so athletic,
You wonder what he lacks.
The world feared for him,
And hope he doesn't fall,
Trapped in the temptation,
For 99days to succumb.
Have you seen a man?
A man like MIKE.
He wasn't Thin Tall Tony,
Neither was he DeeOne,
He sure wasn't me at all,
He shared his truth from the beginning,
He said it loud and clear,
He seriously echoed it,
And the fear gripped us all,
He persevered through it all,
And cleared our doubt of his strength,
He offered lovely hands.
He made good connections,
He truly had fun,
And he didn't fail.
What a man, he is.
A man truly like MIKE
I can hear the bed rattling,
The vibration is quite unusual,
I didn't see it with my eyes,
But my imagination is weird and wild,
Fists clenched,
And bedsheet is rumpled,
Oh my God,
There is a woman beneath,
What a sigh of relief.
It is his wife after all,
99 days are long gone,
And they are back in each other's arms.
This is some sweet love,
Even Wizkid never thought of it.
A man I wish I was,
A man I should have been,
A man I can be,
A man like MIKE.

Otunba Segun Runsewe: 'Bobrisky Worse Than Ebola Disease'
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 10:44 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal Government has asked travellers and tourists to be careful wherever they notice the presence of Bobrisky, mostly as it affects sharing of public facilities, including toilets.

The report followed a report received by the Federal Government on how Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, caused a stir at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja when he used a female toilet.

While appealing to the leadership of Nigeria Medical Association to enlighten people on the dangers of women sharing public toilet with Bobrisky, the government said that by using public female toilet, Bobrisky had constituted a serious threat to women.

Otunba Segun Runsewe, Director-General of National Centre for Arts and Culture, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, raised the alarm in an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja.

He said, “Bobrisky is a serious health hazard for Nigeria and Nigerians. The health hazard Bobrisky has is worse than Ebola Virus Disease; travellers and tourists should be careful wherever they notice the presence of Bobrisky, mostly as it affects sharing of public facilities.

“Women are prone to get various types of disease from the toilet than sexual intercourse. Now, Bobrisky will enter the same toilet with a woman and at the end the woman will contract some kind of diseases.

“When she gets home and sleeps with her husband and the husband discovers he has been infected, the next thing is to seek for divorce without knowing the actual cause of how the wife was infected.”

He added, “In the first place, Bobrisky’s passport shows that he is a man. Why should he turn himself to a woman and use women’s toilets? At the end of the day, innocent Nigerian women who go to same toilet will now be infected with what they did not bargain for.

“If Bobrisky is even using men’s toilet, we can understand. As I speak, we got a report of how a woman was very upset with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria because on this day she saw Bobrisky using female toilet in Abuja Airport.

“Well, for me, we have done our little bit; we have left everything for the medical practitioners.”

Missing Kenyan police officer found dead with his head and hands chopped off

The body of a Kenyan Police Officer, Hesbon Okemwa Anunda, who went missing a week ago has been found at a thicket in the coastal island of Lamu, with his head and hand chopped off.

While investigations have been launched to establish the cause of his death, police constable, Hesbon Anunda, went missing on October 2nd from Kizingitini Police Station. His G3 rifle, which had 60 bullets was, however, found missing when the body was found.

Government officials said more than 40 police officers have died this year while combating terrorism and urban crime. Hilary Mutyambai, Inspector General of Police, said the government has put in place elaborate measures to curb deaths of security personnel while in the line of duty.

Quote:“We have prioritised safety measures for our police officers while on duty amid threats like terrorism, violent crime and banditry,’’ said Mutyambai.
He said that Somalia based Al-Shabaab militants continue to pose grave security threats in the northeastern and the coastal region.

PDP to APC: ''Your insult on Jonathan is misdirected, it best suits Buhari''

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s unwarranted insult on former President Goodluck Jonathan over former UK Prime Minister, David Cameron's comment, was misdirected as it ''best suits President Buhari and the APC administration.''

Cameron in his new book titled ''For the Record'', accused the former Nigerian president of turning down a request by the UK government to help in the rescue of the abducted Chibok girls. Jonathan has since denied this allegation.

APC in a statement released over the weekend, said Former President Goodluck Jonathan should never have responded to David Cameron's comment because “Nigerians already know the story of his habitual negligence to matters of state'' read here

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said the attack on Jonathan is a grand scheme orchestrated by the Buhari-led government to divert attention from the recent corruption and fraud allegations levelled against Buhari's ''close relatives and confidants''.  Read the statement below.

Quote:The party says the distortions and groundless attack on President Jonathan is a desperate tactic by the APC and the Buhari Presidency to divert public attention from the recent shocking corruption and fraud revelations in which close relatives and confidants of Mr. President are mentioned.

The PDP has been made aware of how the Presidency has been in a frenzy to suppress investigations and deflect public enquiries from the arrest of President Buhari’s known confidant deported from the United Kingdom for alleged international passport scam and money laundering, as it knows that an inquest will further expose the huge rot in the Buhari Presidency.

Our party has equally been made aware of how the APC and the Buhari Presidency have been desperate to divert public attention from the administration's obnoxious decision to further oppress Nigerians by reintroducing tollgates on our highway, increasing Value Added Tax (VAT), electricity bill and other tariffs as well as their despicable plot to sack government workers.

The PDP charges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to perish the idea of thinking that this unnecessary distortions on the Jonathan administration would bury the demand for an inquest into the Danu racket through which billions of naira meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians are allegedly being diverted to private purses.

The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the APC had remained silent since revelations that its key leaders and the cabal at the Presidency are involved in the stealing of over N14 trillion meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Our party further challenges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to speak out on the alleged diversion of the N500bn meant for the Social Investment Programme among other humongous fraud directly perpetrated under the Buhari Presidency.

Furthermore, in trying to tar the PDP, the APC forgets that it is already common knowledge that all the bad eggs that brought a bad name to the PDP have since left our repositioned party to the APC where their National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who also has a huge corruption allegation on his neck, admitted that the party is a haven for corrupt persons.

More over, the fact that President Buhari can only surround himself with persons openly indicted for corruption, as ministers and advisers, speaks volume of the administration’s posturing on corruption.

The PDP therefore charges the APC not to think that it can cover its mess by trying to make unfounded allegations against President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP as Nigerians can now see through their shenanigans.

BBNaija: Dencia accuses Don Jazzy of objectifying women over comment on Mercy's win

Dencia took a dig at Don Jazzy over his comment prior to the announcement of Mercy as the winner of the 2019 edition of the Big Brother Naija Reality Show.

Don Jazzy had linked Mercy's win at the end of the reality show which lasted for 99 days to her a*s, a claim he got knocked on by the US-based Cameroonian singer.

Quote:The ace music producer tweeted "I know that Mercy has a dope personality. But if she wins nobody should tell me that yansh does not perform wonders. #bbnaija"

According to Dencia, women are more than body parts and she has not seen anyone attributing the male housemates' win to their d*ck.

Ozekhome Says President Buhari Can Be Investigated While In Office
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 10:22 AM - No Replies

Chief Mike Ozekhome, a constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, speaks on the rumoured Third Term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and other issues in the polity. Excerpts:

What do you make of President Buhari’s statement that his government will lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years?

The President’s case is still being challenged at the court. Even if he is not removed by the Supreme Court, he can only do four years out of which he has already spent six months. So, constitutionally, President Buhari has just three and half years to go. So, if he is talking about taking Nigeria out of poverty in the next 10 years, from being the poverty capital of the world, having overtaken India, he may only be thinking in terms of statistics, maybe this is the time Nigeria will get out of poverty but certainly not himself doing that as a person. He may also be referring to his political party, APC being in power in the next 10 years. But don’t forget that PDP had boasted that they will be in power for 60 years but it was terminated after 16 years in power. So, nobody knows tomorrow.
President Buhari should be talking about what he can do for Nigerians in the next three and half years and what he has done for Nigeria in the last four and half years. He cannot be talking about what he will do for Nigerians in the future when he himself will not be there as President. So, I think it is just sheer daydreaming.

Going by that statement, some Nigerians are worried saying it may be a ploy by the President to elongate his tenure in office by getting a Third term. What is your take on that?

I don’t think Nigerians should belly-ache about it. I do know that why Nigerians are saying these things is because they are wondering whether from the body language, it means he is looking for third term. Let me tell you, even Obasanjo had tried it and failed. That will never happen in this country again, no matter how brow-beaten, downtrodden, beleaguered, repressed, oppressed we have become. Nigeria is not a banana republic that you can just bring up such a warped idea. It can never fly here. The issue of third term will never ever fly in Nigeria. Read my lips.

Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo a fortnight ago offered to waive the immunity he enjoyed under the constitution in order to clear his name of the N90b allegations leveled against him by Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC. What is the position of the law on that?

Under Section 308 of the 1999 constitution, the President and Vice-President, Governors and Deputy Governors of states enjoy total immunity from prosecution. While they are in office, they cannot be prosecuted. However, it was held in the case of Tinubu versus IGP and other persons by the Supreme Court that although the President, Vice- President, Governors and Deputy- Governors cannot be prosecuted while in office, they can however be investigated whilst in office.

In that case, Justice Uwaifo in the very illuminative judgment made it clear that whilst they cannot be prosecuted, they may be investigated but the result of the investigation cannot be used to prosecute them while still in office. They will have to wait for that person to leave office before he can be prosecuted.

So, it is not for Osinbajo to say he will waive his immunity. He cannot waive a constitutional provision which applies to everybody who occupies the office of President, Vice-President, Governor or Deputy Governor. To waive it and say prosecute me is to call for violation of Section 308 of the constitution and his oath of office and allegiance to protect and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is not for him therefore to elect to be investigated. He can be investigated. Even President Buhari can be investigated while in office. That is what the Supreme Court says. It is just that none of them can be prosecuted now until they leave office. But at the end of the day, I see the scenario playing out as the macabre dance of death which is a game toward 2023 and beyond. It is not about Osinbajo because when they were sending him to markets in Oshodi, Mushin, Sandgrouse markets in Lagos, didn’t they know that he was a whole Vice-President? When Osinbajo was carrying out jobs that should have been done by little hands, they needed him that time to help them win election and so didn’t see any fault in him. Some people saw that that N10,000 they were giving out was more of bribe by the ruling party to get people to vote for them because some of these people distributing the Tradermoni were wearing t-shirts bearing ‘Vote Buhari/ Osinbajo. Now the faceless cabal believe they have used him and they are now ready to dump him and they want to bring in a preferred candidate who will not be intellectually grounded as Osinbajo; a candidate that they can use again as cannon fodder and then dispense him when they want. I want to say that I pity the Tinubus of this world because whether they like it or not they will see Osinbajo as part and parcel of Tinubu.

So, they are trying to rubbish him and sending the ominous signal to him and you can see that some of them from the core North are already flying kites that democracy is about number, there is nothing like zoning, there is no question of saying the North cannot retain power. So, it is all about 2023.

Sack Of 15 ABU Staff For Sexual Harassment, Corruption Commended By FG
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2019, 10:17 AM - No Replies

The Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) on Sunday commended the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) authorities for terminating the employment of 15 staff and demotion of one academic staff for corruption and sexual harassment.

Babatunde Irukera, FCCPC Chief Executive Officer, in a statement, noted that the disciplinary action followed investigations that established unsolicited and unwelcome sexual advances and behaviour toward members of the school community, illegal allocation of, and alteration of grades, and extortion of students.

“These types of conduct materially affect the entire community, diminish scholarship and negatively skew academic outcomes in a manner that violates the rights of targets of the behaviour and victimises others who are invariably indirect victims.

“The inappropriate behaviour undermines the quality and validity of education and questions the credibility of educational outcomes”, it read.

“The Commission is further encouraged by ABU’s commitment to a broader and continuing investigation of others within the community. In addition, the Commission commends ABU for this robust and far-reaching effort and the confidence it restores and promotes in our institutions, systems and processes.

“A transparent, fair and just educational community is vital for all members of the community, especially students, and the Commission is keen to ensure that students, as consumers, are afforded the necessary protections, and our campuses are safe and secure always.

“The Commission urges educational institutions to pursue aggressive and open initiatives to ensure harassment, corruption and other vices are eradicated from the educational system”, the statement added.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 7TH OCTOBER.

BE GOD-INSIDE MINDED

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

The Christian is the God-man; one in whom Christ literally dwells. Knowing this therefore, you must be God-inside minded; the greater One lives in you, meaning that you have nothing to fear in life. This was the Apostle John’s mentality, and it should be your mindset as well. In 1 John 5:4, he said, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world….”.

It doesn’t matter what’s out there in the world; you’ve overcome them all, because you’re born of God, and Christ lives in you. You’ve overcome every force, every power—everything that’s against you.

In John 16:33, Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” God’s Word is spiritual law. If He says you’ve overcome the world, with its troubles, failures, and darkness, then you have.

Acknowledge and walk in the reality of your divine life in Christ; who He’s made you, and all that He’s bequeathed to you. Reign and rule over circumstances. Refuse and reject anything that’s inconsistent with the life of Christ in you.

Let the evidence of the indwelling Christ be seen in the quality of life you live. Let it be a testimony to those around you that indeed, there’s a higher life in Christ, and you’re living and enjoying that life. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Thank you Lord, for the indestructible and unconquerable life of Christ in me. Everything I am and represent exudes the Christ-life. The greater One lives in me and I’m living the higher life in Christ. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

7TH OCTOBER.

Precious Father, I thank You for October, it’s my month of Ministry. Thank You for showing me the way to a fruitful and glorious life. As I respond to Your Word in agreement, my life is lifted above the crippling principles of this world, and I am catapulted from victory to victory. Hallelujah.

I thank You for the power of the Gospel, by which You’ve set me on an exciting journey of victory and success from glory to glory.

I live above sin, sickness, disease, lack, poverty, the economy and economics of this world, because I live in Your Word, functioning with divine wisdom always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

132 repented Boko Haram members reintegrated in Borno
By News Express on 06/10/2019

No fewer than 132 repentant Boko Haram sect members were on Sunday reintegrated into their communities by the Borno State Government.

Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, disclosed this at a handing over ceremony of some rehabilitated Boko Haram members in Maiduguri.

Gambo said that the youths were released to their families and local government officials after completing 12 months of skills acquisition and rehabilitation training at the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Transit Center.

She said that the training exercise was designed to equip the beneficiaries with relevant skills that would enable them to generate income, be self-reliant and add value in their society.

She explained that sewing machines, barbing kits, shoemaking kits, and money were given to the beneficiaries as a resettlement package.

Bashir Ahmed, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government for the empowerment programme, describing it as a life changer.

“We are grateful to the Borno state government and other organisations like International Organisation for Migration and other humanitarian agencies.

”We remain grateful for the reintegration and rehabilitation programme aimed at supporting ex-insurgents to become meaningful citizens,” he said. (NAN)

Clean up your BREXIT mess and leave Jonathan alone' - Femi Fani-Kayode tells David Cameron

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has attacked former British Prime Minister, David Cameron for accusing Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan of complicity in the rescue of Chibok girls, saying he should clean up the BREXIT mess he started.

David Cameron in his book titled “For the Record” accused President Jonathan led-administration of corruption and claimed he rejected help to rescue the Chibok girls from Boko Haram.

Reacting to the accusation on Sunday, Fani-Kayode stated that Cameron had said that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was “sleeping on the wheel” as well as saying Nigerians are “fantastically corrupt”.

Quote:The David Cameron that said that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was "sleeping on the wheel" is the same David Cameron that said Nigerians are "fantastically corrupt".
What makes this notorious, vain, arrogant, racist and pompous Englander believe he can get away with spewing such venomous foibles and indulging in such falsehood and mendacity.
He should clean up the BREXIT mess he created in his own country rather than poke his big and unwelcome nose in the affairs of ours. Nigeria stopped being a colony of the British 59 years ago.
We reject his stereotypical and insulting labels and his asinine, jaundiced, absurd and outlandish claims and assertions.
The Nigerian people are honorable, courageous, decent, diligent, kind, civilised, industrious, resilient, loyal, tolerant, accomodating, honest, God-fearing and hard-working people.
We are not "fantastically corrupt" and we will no longer tolerate his condescending and downright insulting vituperations.
When you consider world history you will agree with me that it was not the Nigerian people that enslaved, pillaged, robbed, slaughtered, subjugated, oppressed, humiliated and utterly destroyed the lives of hundreds of millions of people and a quarter of the world's population at the twilight of its accursed empire. It was the British.
We do not need lessons about corruption, how to drive at the wheel or anything else from such people.

Five people burnt beyond recognition In Kaduna-Kachia road crash

Five people were on Sunday afternoon, October 6th burnt beyond recognition in a motor accident that occurred along the Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kaduna State.

The accident, which happened in a bush about 56 kilometres away from Kaduna, involved two vehicles. While one of the vehicles is a car with registration number JJJ 220 BB, the second vehicle was burnt beyond recognition.

It was gathered that three of the passengers were inside the burnt car, which was still smouldering at the time of this report. Another charred body of a passenger was seen beside the burnt car. Two passengers, who were not burnt, were seen lying dead with one of them having broken legs, while some of his teeth had fallen off.

Two military uniforms in a suitcase were seen among the personal effects scattered at the scene, making observers to believe that one of the victims might be a military personnel. The uniforms were not torn, neither were they burnt. A man who was seen controlling traffic at the scene of the incident, claimed that although he was not there when the accident happened, the driver of one of the cars, who sustained severe injuries was brought out alive and rushed to a hospital for medical attention.

Quote:He said, “I got to the scene when the accident had happened. It was a head-on collision caused by excessive speeding. As you can see, several people died in the accident and some were burnt beyond recognition.
“The driver of one of the vehicles was brought out alive and rushed to the hospital, but he was badly injured. A military officer is among the victims, but we are yet to know his identity.

Police arrest herdsman with Ak-47 rifle, pistol in Bauchi

A suspected Fulani herdsman, Sadiq Mohammed, has been arrested by police in Bauchi State with an AK-47 rifle and a pistol during the weekend.
He, however, claimed he was using them to protect himself.

Mohammed, who spoke to reporters while being paraded at the Police Headquarters in Bauchi, said the guns were not his.
The father of two said, “I have had these guns for 11 years. I have got them since I was in Plateau State. The man who first bought this gun is dead.
“He was killed, so I took it. I have never killed any person with these guns but I’ve been using them to protect myself and my cows from people who may want to attack me and steal my animals.

“Any time I take my cows to Plateau State, I use the guns to protect myself while moving with them.”
The suspect said he and his colleagues were losing their cows to rustlers, hence he opted for guns to protect himself and his animals.

“I know that carrying a gun without a licence is an offence, but because of the way things are in our place that is why I rear my cows with the gun. So long as I am with my cows, I don’t put my gun away, I am always with it even if I am sleeping. I keep it beside me. I hold it in broad daylight boldly like the police hold their rifles when I am with the cows and nobody has ever stopped me.”

Quote:A lecturer at the Kogi State University (KSU) Ayingba, Dr Usman Ogbo, was reportedly attacked in Ankpa on Saturday during the ‘Thank You’ tour embarked upon by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Engr Musa Wada.

The opposition PDP had on Friday inaugurated its campaign committees in the capital, Lokoja, ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed (APC- Ankpa 1) was said to have been in town and his convoy had cause to pass through the venue of PDP event, which may have sparked the skirmish.

The convoy of the PDP governorship candidate alongside his supporters reportedly clashed with those of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) while the former was in Ankpa on a thank you visit.

It was gathered that the clash may have erupted when some APC chieftains reportedly drove in their vehicles into the convoy of the PDP candidate.

The Kogi State Police Commissioner (CP), Mr. Hakeem Busari, while confirming the incident, said that one person was injured.

The PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation, in a statement by the Director of Public Communication of the Campaign Council, Comrd. Austin Usman Okai, condemned the attack.

It called on the Commissioner of Police, and the Director of State Security Services to immediately investigate the incident.

Why we seized Bukola Saraki’s property – Kwara State Assembly

The Kwara State House of Assembly has said it directed the seizure of the Alimi Chalet and an expanse of land, popularly called ‘Ile Arugbo’, allegedly acquired by a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The Assembly said the property belonged to the state government and there was no evidence the politician paid for them. In a statement by the Special Assistant to the Speaker, Ibrahim Sheriff, the Assembly said the allocation of the posh property to Saraki by the last administration was a “violent violation” of the Kwara State Former Governor’s Pension Law 2010, as amended, which had already taken care of him (Saraki).

The state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kola Shittu, described the legislature’s action as “ill-conceived, malicious and another indication that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is out on a vendetta mission.”  But, the Assembly in a statement titled, ‘Our position on the seizure of Alimi Chalet, Saraki’s House’, said there was an evidence the property was illegally acquired.

Quote:The statement indicated, “The Ile Arugbo had been erected on land originally meant for the expansion of the Civil Service Clinic and Phase II of the State Government Secretariat without any evidence that anyone paid a dime to the government for the land.
“The noise surrounding the affected property is politically motivated, as other public property unlawfully acquired are also being looked into. We dare say that allowing impunity to stand, no matter who is affected and how long it has taken place, is a disservice to the state and its people.
“Apart from the fact that the purported sale of the Alimi Chalet did not conform to the Kwara State former Governors’ Pension Law 2010, as amended, which incidentally was the brainchild of Saraki, we contend that there is no record anywhere that Saraki paid a dime to have the property transferred to him. The transfer only fits into what the late Fela Anikulapo called ‘paddy-paddy’ arrangement.”
The Assembly challenged the affected parties to prove they legally acquired the property by presenting evidence of payment.
Quote:“The pension law takes adequate care of the former governor (Saraki). The law allows ex-governors to own a five-bedroomed duplex, as opposed to the Alimi Chalet, which consists of three separate chalets with three boys’ quarters of three rooms each and, therefore, does not fit into the recommendation of the pension law of 2010.
“Aside from the three houses on over one hectare of land on Alimi Road supposedly given to Saraki under the state pension law, Saraki also got N250m under the same law to build another retirement home for himself.
“The said Alimi Chalet, which was gifted to him, is the property of the people of Kwara State and was never contemplated as a gift to former governors,” the Assembly said.

#BBNaijaFinale: Tacha celebrates Mercy, Seyi, Mike, Frodd and Omashola, says, 'I wish I loosened up a bit'

Ahead of the Big Brother Naija finale tonight, disqualified housemate, Tacha has taken out time to celebrate the top five finalists including Mercy.

According to Tacha, 'bliss is one priceless state of mind I have always desired. This ideally comes with inner peace; the will to let go and let life take its course. The ability to let life lead and direct purpose to a climax regardless of the chaos and battles we may be experiencing. I did loose track of this in retrospect as I have had time to reflect on my dealings in the house. I am aware that I could have reacted better.
We have one life to lead and I have chosen to take charge of mine. To be in control when I can and to be vulnerable when it is absolutely necessary. .

Now that I think about it, my relationships in the house would have gone a little bit differently if I loosened up a bit, had a laugh here and there and also loved a little more intensely.
I've also had a while to think about what I would have said to the last 5 big Brother Naija housemates in the house before leaving. In light of the finale, I would love to get these thoughts off my chest'.

See all she wrote about the top five finalists below....

Boko Haram burns Emir’s palace in fresh attack in Yobe State

Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday afternoon, October 5th burnt a section of the Emir of Jajare’s Palace in Babangida headquarters of Tarmuwa Local Government of Yobe State.

Eyewitnesses said the insurgents entered the town in a commando style and headed straight to the emirs palace but the Emir had left the palace two hours before the arrival of the insurgents.

Apparently, in a show of anger, the insurgents decided to burn a section of the palace and carted away with an escort Hilux van (vehicle) of the Emir. A resident of Babangida said the insurgents were on a mission to eliminate the District Head in a revenge mission.

The source  told The Nation that the District Head had earlier gave an intelligent report that led to the elimination of some Boko Haram in his domain who were kidnapping locales for ransom.  Information available also indicated that the attack on the town created pandemonium in the entire town as many villagers who came to the market scampered for their lives.

Police Killings: Concerns Over Delay In Releasing Of DHQ Report By Presidency
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-06-2019, 08:09 PM - No Replies

Quote:Kingsley Nwezeh in Abuja

Over two months after the Rear Admiral Ibikunle Olaiya-led probe panel was set up to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of police detectives by troops of 93 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Takum, in Taraba State, the contents of the report submitted by the panel have not been made public. The citizens are also confused about the likely sanctions to be meted out to the culprits. And this is heightening worry among Nigerians.

The report was submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari after it was reviewed by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, whom, THISDAY gathered, made further recommendations. The committee submitted the report to the Chief of Defence Staff a month ago after sitting in Jalingo and Abuja where it took oral submissions, video evidences, and witness accounts of the fatal shooting that took place August 6.

A source close to the panel had told THISDAY that the Defence Headquarters had submitted the report to Buhari.

“The report has been submitted to the President and Commander-in-Chief, who ordered the probe in the first place. We are done with the report so we await further directives from the Presidency,” the source had said.

Many are worried that the report of such an incident with serious security implications for the country is being delayed, and this is raising suspicions about a cover up. The revelations during the sitting of the panel in Taraba and Abuja showed that the kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala Wadume, who was earlier arrested by police detectives, was freed after soldiers opened fire on policemen conveying him to the Taraba State Police Command in Jalingo for interrogation, killing them, despite the fact that they were subjected to identification processes. The shooting presents a clear threat to inter-agency collaboration that government has trumpeted for a long time, with larger implications for the mounting security challenges facing the country.

The killing had provoked national outrage, especially with the manner in which the policemen and a civilian on national assignment were brutally gunned down even after identifying themselves to the soldiers manning the checkpoints at Ibi-Jalingo Road in Taraba State.

It had also triggered a rift between the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Army. The recriminations were such that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, issued a circular warning officers and men to be cautious in their interaction with police personnel. Buratai advised soldiers to travel on mufti in view of attacks launched against the army by the police on social media.

The rift had, indeed, run through the panel deliberations, as both the army and the police stuck to their different positions on the incident and insisted on appropriate sanctions.

Intelligence agencies, in the course of the work of the panel, established 190 phone exchanges between the kidnap suspect, Wadume, and Captain Tijani Balarabe, the officer in charge of the army team at the Ibi-Wukari Road checkpoint and who actually ordered the shooting of the policemen and the civilian involved.

The release of Wadume by Captain Balarabe before his re-arrest by the police and the telephone conversations between them and a Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in Jalingo substantially established a strong connection between the duo and the culpability of the army officer and other soldiers involved.

Wadume had before the panel admitted involvement in gunrunning, especially high calibre automatic weapons, notably AK 47 rifles. This raises another poser with regard to the interaction between security agencies and criminal gangs in Nigeria and the challenge it poses to national security.

Families of the slain policemen have also raised concerns over the delay in the release of the report. They want to be assured that the patriotic service rendered by the fallen members of their families was not in vain through the government ensuring that justice is served.

Addressing a press conference recently, an elder brother to the one of the slain officers, Andrew Philip Ediare, said justice must be served to the fullest.

Ediare lamented, “If the law fails to take its course, it means it is a conspiracy and anything short of this is unacceptable. Inspector Mark Ediare, my late younger brother, and others were on active duty and they swore to protect this country.

“His wife is now a widow, his daughter fatherless, and the family is grieving, shattered by this inglorious act. This is an outrage.”

Ediare further stated, “We therefore demand that the culprits be brought to justice and that international bodies should get involved. Nothing will be swept under the carpet. We demand justice, whoever the perpetrators may be, we want them to go to the full extent of the laws of the land.

“If the law fails to do the needful, we will resolve that it is an act of conspiracy. That must not happen”.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) had in several fora maintained that appropriate sanctions would be applied in the case of soldiers found culpable. Nigerian Army Headquarters had also restated its resolve to deal decisively with personnel involved in the deadly drama.

It was gathered that members of the panel drawn from the police had unofficially expressed fears that the panel’s report might be swept under the carpet in view of the fact that even the defence chief himself is an army officer and may not be fair in his recommendations.

Making the contents of the report public, following through with the implementation in terms of imposing appropriate sanctions on culpable persons, especially the kidnap and gunrunning ring, would address the hydra-headed issue of extra-judicial killings, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation as the country battles security challenges on all fronts.

Many believe the report should also address adequately the issue of compensation to families of the slain policemen.

More than anything else, there is a groundswell of public opinion that the Presidency should urgently make the panel’s report public and ensure that appropriate sanctions are applied where necessary. Many say the institution of the Presidency should not be seen as covering up such a trigger for insecurity.
