RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER.

PROPHECY FOR CHANGE

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith (Romans 12:6).

Understanding the gift of prophecy and how it works is very important, so we can use it accurately.

Prophecy is often in operation in an utterance of faith. An utterance of faith is declaration of words that’ll come to pass, or words that you desire to come to pass.

However, you can’t use that level of merely declaring words of faith to alter the course of a nation, a city, a family, or another person’s life. You’d have to know the will of God, and the direction of the Spirit, to utter words that are in consonance with the Spirit of God in order to effect the kind of change that’s consistent with His will.

What this means is that the gift of prophecy must operate through revelation, not just through your utterance of faith. For instance, you might have been in a prayer meeting where the prayer coordinator, being led of the Spirit said, “Prophesy to your country.” Then as a result, you began to speak prophetic words; things you desired to see happen in your country.

However, just because you went ahead and prophesied as instructed didn’t necessarily mean you spoke precisely the mind of God about your country at that particular moment. The words you uttered may be inconsistent with God’s revelation.

This shows that you can’t just stay with the forthtelling part of prophecy; you need the revelatory part as well. You must know the mind of God. When you do, you’ll know what words to speak, and not take sides against Him. It’s the reason we pray a lot in the Spirit. When we pray in the Spirit, our spirits are more open to allow the wisdom of God to bubble up within us, and guide us in the right choice of words.

Moreover, studying the Scriptures also plays a vital role. As you study and meditate on the Scriptures, your spirit is flooded with light; you’re enlightened as to the plans and purposes of God by which you’re able to pray and prophesy in accordance with His will. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of prophecy, which is operational in my life and with which I bless and edify my world. I prophesy that your righteousness is established in the hearts of men around the world; and through the truth of the Gospel, salvation, healing and health, prosperity and success, deliverance, wholeness, preservation, peace and joy spread in the nations of the earth, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

30TH SEPTEMBER.

I affirm that this is my month of uplifting. With my mouth, I've taken possession of all that belongs to me in Christ. My words are living and active, they are anointed to produce results. There’s no hopeless situation I can not change, for my faith is the victory that overcomes every adversity.

Irrespective of what I hear, see or feel, my faith in the Word prevails. All things are working together for my good because I am in God's place for my life. I walk in health, victory, prosperity, and success today and always. Hallelujah!

This is my set time to possess all that the Spirit of God has unveiled to my heart. Today, I experience unprecedented favour and manifold blessings in every area of my life. Everything I require for life and godliness has been delivered unto me, and I am enjoying life to the full. Durable riches and wealth are mine; for I am the seed of Abraham!

I function in the dominion of the Spirit, having been enthroned over Satan, the principalities of darkness, and all negative circumstances. My life is the manifestation of the graces, many-sided wisdom, and perfections of God, whose glory I am, and whose presence I carry to impact and beautify my world. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Benin Republic Laments Nigerian Border Closure

Dozens of baskets brimming with newly-picked tomatoes gently rot in the sticky heat, becoming the latest casualty in a bout of trade tension between Benin and Nigeria.

AFP Cotonou -Dozens of baskets brimming with newly-picked tomatoes gently rot in the sticky heat, becoming the latest casualty in a bout of trade tension between Benin and Nigeria.

On August 19, President Muhammadu Buhari unexpectedly closed Nigeria’s borders to goods trade with Benin and Niger, declaring the time had come to end rampant smuggling from those countries.

In Benin, Nigeria’s neighbour to the west, traders say the impact has been devastating.

“This is a distressing sight,” Agriculture Minister Gaston Dossouhoui said this month, visiting markets in the town of Grand Popo, one of the main agricultural communities of southern Benin.

“It’s very difficult for our producers. It’s a disaster.”

“Financially speaking, Benin’s small producers are under water — they’ve already had to run up millions (of CFA francs) in debt,” said Adjeoda Amoussou, head of Benin’s Chamber of Agriculture.

Buhari defended the closure by saying Benin and Niger — Nigeria’s neighbour to the northeast — had failed to police their borders properly, and chronic smuggling was the result.

“The borders will remain closed until our neighbours control what goes through the borders and comply with the laws,” warned Hameed Ali, comptroller general of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The move immediately caused a shockwave.

Unilateral border closures go against all commercial and freedom of movement treaties signed under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The announcement also cast a shadow over a historic free-trade agreement, signed by 54 out of 55 African countries, that reached a key operational threshold just five weeks earlier.

Nigeria, as well as Benin, had signed onto the pact on the eve of the landmark day — a move hailed as a crucial push towards ending the continent’s trade barriers.

– David and Goliath –

That smuggling goes on is clear, although it goes in both directions.

Huge quantities of frozen chickens, rice, fabric and cars arrive at the port of Cotonou, Benin’s economic capital, where they are taxed locally before being routed — often illegally — to Nigeria.

Benin has few functioning petrol stations, and its fuel is far more expensive than in Nigeria, where it is subsidised by the state. A common sight is smuggled Nigerian petrol, sold by the side of the road in jerrycans.

Beyond contraband, though, trade with Nigeria is crucial for Benin and Niger.

Ranking among the world’s poorest countries, they find themselves as David opposite the Nigerian Goliath — a market of 190 million and Africa’s biggest economy.

– ‘Fear of God’ –

In Benin, business people in some parts of the economy are panicking, and unfounded rumours that Nigeria will even go so far as to cut off its electricity supply are spreading in local newspapers.

“Buhari and his country want to put an end to us,” said Barthelemy Agon, a pineapple producer. He like many others have been hard-hit by fruits and vegetables no longer being exported to their big neighbour.

As for taxi and truck drivers, it’s barely worth the effort to hit the road since a litre of imported contraband fuel has risen by about one euro ($1.10) since the frontier was closed.

“We are suffering seriously from this situation — without petrol we can’t do anything,” said Aristide Samson Assogba, a motorcycle taxi driver.

Sebastien Deguenonvo in Cotonou’s Casse-Auto district said sales of his low-quality diesel had slumped from at least 30 26-litre (six-gallon) cans per day to just 10.

“I beg the Nigerian president to have pity on us,” he said.

But if his stoney reputation is anything to go by, Buhari — an ex-general an ex-general whose first spell as Nigeria’s leader, in the 1980s, came after a coup — is unlikely to be merciful.

“President Buhari should be a little bit afraid of God,” said Henry Assogba from the National Association of Petrol Sellers. “The big one cannot live without the little one.”

Police Uncover Baby Factory In Lagos, Rescue 19 Pregnant Girls, Arrest 2 suspect
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 11:18 PM - No Replies

Quote:Barely a week after a-week-old baby was recovered from an illegal trade syndicate in Isheri-Osun, a Lagos community, the police have rescued 19 pregnant women at another baby factory.

The victims between ages 15 and 28 were said to have been kept at four different locations in Isheri-Osun and Ikotun where they were being ripped off their babies and sold N300,000 or N500,000 depending on the sex.

Four kids were also rescued in the operation led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Chike Ibe, a Chief Superintendent (CSP).

The Nation reports that policemen and officials of the Ministry of Women Affairs earlier in the year stormed another baby factory at Igando and rescued malnourished children, pregnant women at the facility that also ran an alleged illegal creche.

While some of the expectant mothers knew their babies would be sold, others were brought to Lagos with promises of job only to be turned to baby making factories.

It was gathered that some of the victims were abducted from their home states and brought to the locations where men allegedly took advantage of them.

Those who said they accepted to sell their children to the syndicate claimed they were not offered the money promised, it was gathered.

He said the victims were brought from Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Abia and Imo States.

According to Police Spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), detectives acted on a tip off at about 4pm on September 19 and stormed 14, Adisa Street, Ayanwale in Ikotun, 32 Owosho Street, Governor Road, Ikotun, 29, Olugbeyohun Street, Olakunle Bus Stop Abaranja and 4/6 Anomo Street, Abaranja.

He said the places were suspected to have been used for child trafficking, adding that two suspects Happiness Ukwuoma, 40 and Sherifat Ipeya, 54 were arrested in connection with the case.

“The suspects did not receive formal medical training but operate as nurses. The suspects are natives of Imo and Epe, Lagos States. The command has launched a manhunt of the principal suspect Madam Oluchi from Mbano in Imo State.

“She is a mother of five. The young women were mostly abducted by the suspects for the purpose of getting them pregnant and selling the babies to potential buyers. The girls were tricked with employment as domestic staff in Lagos. The suspects sold boys N500,000 and girls N300,000.

“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Zubairu Muazu, has visited the scene and ordered the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) to take over the case.

“The command is working with other agencies and stakeholders in rehabilitating and resettling the pregnant girls and the babies. Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court,” he said.

Sowore: Why SSS cannot report Justice Taiwo to NJC – Femi Falana explains

Femi Falana, the lawyer representing detained publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has said that the State Security Service (SSS) cannot report Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for granting bail to the publisher.

In a statement issued today, Femi Falana said Justice Taiwo only exercised his discretion judicially in an application for the bail of a citizen. He also said the SSS cannot complain against the handling of the case by Justice Taiwo who did not entertain the agency’s application to extend Mr Sowore’s detention.

Falana said media reports on the plan to report Justice Taiwo to NJC was misleading as the quotes in the report were not credited to any named official of the SSS but to some anonymous sources. He urged Nigerians to disregard the report.

Quote:“I have since confirmed that the fictitious report is a figment of the fecund imagination of the writer, Mr Akuntunde. Hence, the report and the quotes therein were not credited to any named official of the SSS but to some anonymous sources,” Falana said.
He described the report as a desperate bid to divert public attention from the contemptuous conduct of the SSS, which he said hurriedly pressurised the Federal High Court to assign the case for the arraignment of Sowore.
Quote:“From the information at our disposal, the report was designed by The Nation to blackmail and intimidate the Judges of the Federal High Court with respect to the trial of Mr Sowore.
I wish to state without any fear of contradiction, that the Federal High Court is competent to admit a person charged with a capital offence to bail by virtue of section 161 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.”
Falana said Sowore has not been charged with capital offence contrary to the position of the SSS. “Treasonable felony is not a capital offence under section 41 of the Criminal Code. Even under the most brutal dictatorial regimes in Nigeria, our courts did not hesitate to uphold the fundamental right of the victims of repression to personal liberty, including those who were charged with treasonable felony,” he added.
Quote:“Having regard to the facts and circumstances of this case, the SSS cannot complain against the handling of the case by Justice Taiwo who did not even entertain our application to quash the order for Mr Sowore’s detention for 45 days.”
Falana said it was due to the fact that the SSS counsel, Godwin Agbadua, withdrew his motion ex parte for an order to further detain Mr Sowore for additional 20 days that led to the judge granting him bail.
Quote:“To that extent, the National Judicial Council has no power to sanction a judicial officer for exercising his/her discretion judicially and judiciously in an application for the bail of a citizen.
In other words, since the NJC is not an appellate court it cannot review the order for the conditional release of Mr Sowore from illegal custody.
” Instead of joining the global campaign for the release of Mr Sowore from illegal custody as ordered by the federal high court, Mr Akintunde 1 of The Nation newspaper has colluded with the forces of reaction to intimidate the Judiciary.
But it is a mission that is bound to fail as no dictator has ever succeeded in cowing the courts and the Nigerian people to submission.”

Fantastic Keto proteins increase this level of heat by 30%. Alcohol alone increases thermogenesis more than protein. Most people are not aware that they are still burning calories while sitting on the couch and sleeping. They burn calories to support the work of the heart (after all, muscles) and to support the work of other systems. The amount of calories you use just sitting is called the “main metabolism” and may depend on:Body size and composition: the larger it is, the more calories it will burn. However, those with many muscles will burn more calories than those who are overweight or very tall. One pound of muscle burns 40 to 120 calories per day, just to exist. One pound of fat burns 1 to 3 calories per day.Jayla and her

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central district at the National Assembly, has reacted to the disqualification of Big Brother Naija housemate, Tacha and the eviction of Khafi.
The former lawmaker believes that followers of the reality television show settled for Tacha when Khafi left by eviction.

According to him, now that Tacha has been sent home, Mercy takes the centre stage.
Big Brother on Friday disqualified Tacha for violent behaviour.
This is coming after Tacha and Mercy engaged in a dirty argument, which had both housemates hurling insults at each other.

Reacting to the whole scenario, Sani tweeted, “When our Khafi left, we settled for Tacha and now Tacha left, we are settling for Mercy hoping some of us will not be accused of mobile loyalty.”

12 years after marriage, Nigerian man recounts how he recently discovered two of his three children aren't his

Ijimakiwa Dayo, a Nigerian man residing in Lagos, has accused his wife of adultery after he recently discovered that two of the three children his wife claimed their 12 years of marriage produced, aren't his.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, a shocked Ijimakiwa, said he had been suspecting his wife of committing adultery and a recent DNA conducted proved that he wasn't the father of 2 of the three children they have lived with as a couple.

Read his post below

Quote:The time devil settles in your home is when one gets married to a bad partner. I got married to a wrong woman about 12years ago, we had 3kids, 2 boys and a girl, our first child (a boy) is 11years old. I have been suspecting her for some time now. We've been having issues recently, our families and friends have tried to help us reconcile but she kept insulting me and my family members an attitude which she developed overnight. Initially she stole from my save about a million naira and ran away from home with our kids, I started searching for her, called her people to persuade her to return home because her safety and that of the kids is more important to me and I do not want to know the reason why she stole from me. She returned with the kids and that was the beginning of it. Her stealing habit never stopped rather she turned it into an hobby. There was a time she returned home after her usual practice, I asked the kids where their mother took them to, they said they stayed in one uncle's house.

That was the beginning of my worries, who is this man my wife will always run to anytime she steals from me? .what was their motive,I prayed and hoped she will not kill me one day. So I decided to dig up her Facebook account and see who are mutual friends are, I tried to see if I can get the details of the man she runs to. I picture one of her ex, believing he could be the one, but something struck me about this man, my first son has a form resemblance with him, is it possible I am not the father of our first son?, or is it just my imagination? She did the usual again and I vowed never to take her back ,families and friends tried to settle our differences but I refused, they don't want to see things from my perspective ,they don't seem to understand me, they kept using the kids as a bait, I accepted her again.

About 2 years ago, she packed out of the house on her own, insisting I get her an apartment for her and the kids which I did, she demanded for a shop where she will sell frozen foods, I did all she wanted, gave her monthly allowance for the kids and her self. So, I decided to take the bold step, I did DNA test for my first son, after some weeks the result came out NEGATIVE. I almost lost it, I wasn't myself, I called her one on one and told her about the DNA result, she wasn't shock and she didn't feel remorseful, I told a friend of mine who was also close to her to talk to her about the result and recorded their conversation, she said I should not think of digging too deep because I might hurt myself, already the doctor advised that I carry out DNA test on the remaining two kids, few weeks back , I got the results, our second child which is the girl is mine, but the other boy is not mine. So painful after 12 years, I get to know the person I called my wife. Now, she is no where to be found with the kids. I want you all to help me fish out this wicked woman, so she give me my daughter before she destroys her life

For Buhari’s Sake, So Many Projects Go To Daura
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 09:24 PM - No Replies

Quote:
Many projects have been completed with several still ongoing. Some are still being planned as sites have been allocated for them. Some of the projects include rehabilitation or expansion of existing ones, re-activation and completion of those abandoned as well as new ones.

Heavy-duty machines and construction sites can be seen at different locations executing different projects, including road construction, drainages, schools, water projects, etc, depicting an apparent testimony of benefiting from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

During a visit to the town, our correspondent discovered that there is hardly any federal ministry that is not executing a project in the town. Power, Housing, Works, Transport, Health, Education and other ministries have projects that are classified as Special Projects Unit (SPU) as displayed in various locations in the town.

Aside the federal projects massively being carried out across the town and neighbouring villages, friends and associates of the president have undertaken some projects that are adding value to the people’s lives.

Some key projects

There is an ongoing massive construction of township roads and drainages totaling about 40km across the city. Four contractors are executing the projects. A ring road of 80-90km is about to commence. During the first tenure of the Buhari administration, 21km of drainages and waterways were constructed.

The building of schools for people with special needs has begun at the cost of N500m. The Federal Polytechnic, Daura is expected to take off in January 2020 at its temporary site. 100 hectares of land has been provided for the permanent site.

The proposed Federal University of Transportation has been alloted 6,000 hectares and the project is to commence any moment from now.

Already completed and being put to use is the multi-million naira Nigerian Air Force referral hospital equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The Air Force has set up a response air wing just as the Nigerian Army has established a base in the town.

Others are the upgrade and expansion of the town’s mini stadium at the cost of N259m and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) N84m centre that just graduated its first set of 100 students trained in various trades and skills.
There is also a skills acquisition centre that has been completed but is yet to be commissioned under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programme along Zango road.

The first lady, Aisha Buhari, is also supporting her husband’s town to develop. She has built a 50-bed maternity center at the town’s general hospital, besides setting up empowerment programs for women and the less privileged.

A helipad was constructed in the town, just as the 27-year-old once abandoned Sabke Dam has been completed and is presently supplying 1m litres of water to Daura and neighbouring communities. Many SDG 2018 school projects have been completed and already put to use.

A 73km 132 KVA line was constructed from Katsina to Daura, in addition to the commissioning of two 30 and 40 MVA transformers to boost power supply in the town.
Projects in the pipeline include the railway line and the dualisation of the 72km Daura-Katsina road.

The state government is also supporting the town’s infrastructure transformation. To boost tourism and support the massive influx of guests to the town, the state government-owned Daura Motel was upgraded and expanded at the cost of about N450m. Roads already constructed include the 92km Fago-Katsayal-Kwarasawa-Jirdere-Koza to Kawanar Sabke road, and the Sandamu-Baure road.

Private interventions in the town include the e-library built by Chief Emeka Offor, while the Jack-Rich Tein Foundation in a joint venture with the NNPC and Belema Oil constructed a 400,000 litres capacity solar-powered water system in the town. Aliko Dangote is also spending N100m on the town’s mosque.

We want more – residents

Even with the massive transformation, Daura still has challenges such as the large number of unemployed youths and inadequate power supply. The recent closure of land borders has compounded its woes as hundreds of youths who were ferrying smuggled items across the border are now idle and posing security threats to the community.

Power supply has always been a source of concern to residents, though several power projects are currently going on with some already completed.

Only recently, the residents complained to the president during his sallah visit that they get 24-hour electricity only when he is around, which they said was crippling economic activities.

A cross-section of residents spoken to believe that in as much as they appreciate the ongoing developments in the town, there are still areas that when addressed Daura could be better off, especially the establishment of industries and companies that can engage the teeming unemployed youths.

Bashar Hassan said: “If you look at the whole town, hardly can you see any industry or a large company operating, we have vast agricultural lands that such companies can use to further boost our strength.”

The chairman of Daura Emirate Development Association, Aliyu Daura, said: “As far as we are concerned, we are grateful with all these developments coming our way, but people’s belief that they must get cash is uncalled for, it’s development we want and we want these things to spread to Katsina as well, it’s an opportunity we have.”

On the town’s needs, Aliyu said: “We want a dual carriage way from Daura to Kongolom, it’s a chance before us, if Buhari leaves, no one will do it for us, we should do away with our personal interests and seek development.

“The border closure is of two things, people that are smugglers within us will not be happy with it, but in a situation that some of us that have travelled wide observed that no country allows food into it. Let’s bear the consequences which is just for a while, there is wisdom in the closure.”

On power, Aliyu said: “I was among those that went to TCN in Abuja, where we met Dr. Guru and expressed our grievances and concerns, he told us that they were having issues in Kano. This problem of power is not only in Daura, even Katsina, Sokoto, it’s a national issue.”

Another resident, Buhari Mohammed said: “The poverty level among residents is alarming and must be looked at holistically. Yes, we have got hospitals and other things coming up like schools but people should understand that it is not meant only for Daura people, especially appointments into them.

“We may get an upper hand when lower cadre jobs are open for grabs but the few that will get the jobs cannot remove the town from the depth of poverty.”

Another resident, Abdullahi Abdulkadir, said, “My worst fear is the rate of crime that may engulf our town after the youths are out of the smuggling business. They will end up attacking us with crimes, my take is for government to please as a matter of urgency get them something else to engage them before they fall on us.”

Mob Attacks 3 Robbery Suspects In Benue (Graphic Photos)

Three armed robbery suspects today received jungle justice at the hands of a mob at Ushongo town for staging an operation in the area.

The suspect's names were listed as Terkaa Jabi, alias Gajere, Terkimbir Iorbunde Ahungwaor and Paul Mbailuior Damsa.

They were said to have incurred the wrath of the community when they trailed a vehicle coming from Cross River and attacked the passengers early morning today close to the house of the District Head of Mbayegh, Chief Nathaniel Hoyo.

Eyewitnesses stated that Chief Hoyo called the police on phone and also mobilized youths to chase the attackers who ran into the hills in the surrounding area and hid in one of the caves.

They said a mobile police team and later operatives of Operation Zenda joined the youths to comb the hills and cave where they arrested the suspects.

There was spontaneous outrage from the community against the suspects as their attack came few days after the scandal of 11 exhumed bodies of kidnap and robbery victims from the area which attracted the visit of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

The angry mob stoned the suspects and dragged them along the road before the police took their bodies and displayed at the Ushongo police station.

A large crowd gathered to see the bodies.

A comment credited to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and wife of former Gov., Bola Tinubu of Lagos State, that lazy Lagos youths are always in her house for free money has sparked criticisms on social media.
DAILY POST reported Tinubu as saying that youths of today are lazy and not ready to work.

According to her, most of the youths in Lagos would come to her husband’s house, claiming “they want to enjoy Asiwaju’s money.”
She, expressed displeasure that “most of these youths don’t want to work”, adding that, “the moment you give them work to do, they fall sick.”
Sen. Tinubu added that youths of nowadays are interested in making quick money, “but they don’t want to work before making the money.”

She added that, “our youths are very rude because they want to be like all those people abroad.”
Nigerian youths have since reacted on Twitter, describing the statement as unbecoming of a third-term Senator like Oluremi Tinubu.
According to them, Tinubu would not have made the comment during election periods, saying “Lagos youths are now used and dumped.”

Here are some of the comments:
@ayemojubar: It is a must to feed a tied goat. You tie them with impoverishment and thuggery, you need to feed them either by going to them or by them coming to you. Same mindset that is the foundational bedrock of APC – impoverish them and make the little you do seem like a favour.
@NkayStory: Well she is clearly referring to her husband’s supporters as well as her’s.
Only lazy, unproductive Youths and Adults support these Bourdillon duo politically. True to type, insults are all they have for their rudderless supporters whom they now consider a nuisance till 2023.

@aitemeji1: No b lie some naija youths like free food/free money while some prefer hustling on their own bt remember u 2 went round 2 beg 4 their votes.
@Qdpaper: When Lagos youths knew Remi tinubu’s husband own the key to central bank and bullion van they will come collect their own share. [Image: 1f602.svg][Image: 1f602.svg][Image: 1f602.svg]
@seguntoms: If there is job for them, they wouldn’t have time to watch her news.

@Renzel2210: This woman has been in the senate since God knows when… Yet Lagos people be forming over-wokeness.
@IgbaAnacha: @RemiTinubu that’s a reason to think they know their common wealth found it’s way to your husband’s purse.
@Edoborjohnsonw1: Madam, you can always help some few serious one’s among them, by asking them if they are graduate or high school dropout, u will be Amazed that some of them can be motivated to start up something or u help them gain employment, instead of labelling them LAZY.

@sunnyg303: You made them lazy. If they are gainfully employed, you won’t be able to use them during electioneering campaigns, hence, you give them crumbs so that they will always check back. All Nigerian politicians are ***
@Drmuzoic: When you have a bank branch in your house that requires bullion van nko? Biko share the money for boys.
@ChegweEzenwa: The same people you systematically made lazy by dishing out ill gotten wealth to for their loyalty. I’m sure that if it had been time for elections, you wouldn’t have uttered this.

@abayomikola: If she talk am, them go still vote for am… Those lazy youths are very hungry.
@ojasankara: Until 2023 then they’ll change from Lazy Lagos youths to “My people”
@aderosco1: I don’t believe she said that. She knows the implication.
@anthonymaduka5: What mumu implications? where was the implication when bullion vans drove into her husband’s compound….when they worship them like gods how can there be implications?
@coolgson: No implication, she knows a senseless slave has no provocation.
@ogechime1: But I think the fame enjoyed by Tinubu is because he settles boys. Why are the boys now become lazy?
@Umar_Goroma: Statement like this never comes up during the build up to election [Image: 1f602.svg][Image: 1f92d.svg]
@mamadcadonis: When Buhari said lazy Nigerian youths, he was referring to Lagos Youths. [Image: 1f602.svg][Image: 1f602.svg]
@oladejo_amusat: Not free money but their own share of constituents allowance.
@SamuelMbagwu: Carry on, madam nothing dey happen. 1k plus one packet of noodles, in 2023, can erase any trash said about Lagosians.
@ajulu_charles: Show us your pay slip even that of your husband. Give way let’s check how both of you started the journey of hard work. Kettle calling pot black. It’s good for you guys hanging around politicians instead of the reverse. The hunger never come o.
@KomolafeSola: I don’t blame her, I blame the stupid lazy youth that help her in becoming the senator she is today
@edoborjohnsonw1: If you are not giving them, they won’t be coming back for more.
@OrmormhilaE: Why can’t you use your influence as a woman to make him build schools, hospitals, reinaries, power and roads for Nigerians, but, you are here lamenting about what you closed your eyes to speak about.
@chiukeujioke: What a disgraceful comment to make

Lagos Police release photos and names of five real estate scammers operating in the state

A five-member gang of real estate scammers, who were about to fraudulently lease out someone else’s duplex in Lekki to a house seeker for a sum of N4.5 million have been arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at the point of exchange of money and keys.

The names of the suspects are: Abolade Oladimeji (43), Ademola Ayo (45), Emmanuel Fabiyi (65), Ademola Hakeem (49) and Sunday Ayodele 52. They were arrested in Lekki, after almost sealing the deal for the leasing of someone else’s duplex.

The suspects, all of whom are real estate agents living in border towns of Lagos and Ogun had pretended to be agent of the duplex. To expand their dragnet, the suspects had advertised the property on jiji.com with a total lease package for a year put at N4.5 million.

According to the leader of the gang, Ademola Hakeem, he had been using his knowledge of computer to post for sale and lease on various websites non-existing landed property, apartments and buildings. He added that they lure unsuspecting public with attractive prices.

In his confessional statement to the police, Hakeem disclosed that in early September, he posted a vacancy of a 4-bedroom duplex in Lekki which attracted so many people among whom was the proposed buyer. “Immediately he called me through the contact on the advertisement, I knew he was genuine. I mobilized my colleagues and allocated roles to each of them to make the deal seamless. Abolade Oladimeji conducted himself as the estate lawyer. He discussed at length with our client on the legal angle as well as visitation before payment”, he stated.

Quote:“Ademola Ayo was in charge of taking client on house or land inspection. Emmanuel Fabiyi, the eldest among the team played the role of a principal agent and sometimes acted as site engineer while Sunday Ayodele assisted Fabiyi to make him look like a big man who is well groomed and seasoned in the business”, he explained.
“After the inspection, the proposed buyer requested to pay us with a cheque. Initially, we rejected as our mode of payment is through bank transfer. This is to avoid too much contact as we have dedicated account owners who connive with various teams of fraud syndicates that receive deposits into their accounts and collect 30% of the proceed. After much deliberation on the mode of payment, we agreed to collect the cheque.”
According to sources, they buyer was trying to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s of the lease when along the line he suspected something fishy. “He did a little research which took him to the real landlord of the estate. Together, they played along with the fraudsters while a police team was briefed on the development”, the source added. It was further revealed that the Decoy Team of the RRS ambushed the fraudsters and arrested the five of them at the various positions at the venue of cheque collection in Lekki Phase 2.

According to Emmanuel Fabiyi, popularly called Baba, “my age has been so instrumental in the various scams we’ve perpetrated. Unsuspecting victims get convinced that a man of my age wouldn’t be a scammer. This make them want to do business with us and part with their hard earned money for land purchases, rent or lease of properties”.

Baba disclosed that the police made them repay N3.2 million in one of their recent scams. He added that the gang had been involved in many successful property scams both in Lagos and Ogun State.  While pleading never to return to business if allowed to go, he stated that his family had warned him not to get involved in any fraudulent deals again. He lamented being a disgrace to his wife and children as a father.

“I am a shame to my family as an elder in church and a grandpa. My children warned me to desist from fraud after I was arrested last year but I didn’t listen to them”, he stated.  He added that the N4.5 million was to be shared in the following manner; “the account owner collects 30%, Hakeem, who brought the deal collects 30%, Abolade 10%, Ayo, 10%, Baba, 20% and shares 5% with Sunday Ayodele.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu while reacting to the incident advised Lagosians to be more careful while dealing with estate/property agents and always request to see the owner of the property, and also verify his/her identity before parting with their hard earned money.

Quote:“Sincerely feel bad for. @symply_tacha . You guys will kill every inch of her self esteem and break her spirit. As a young girl seeing people especially men make fun her the way some of you are is really heart breaking . Imagine if she was your sister and people were treating her this way. Nobody is perfect , those of you maliciously attacking her in the name of dropping a comment or airing your views are no different from her . There’s no unpleasant smell that cannot be gotten rid of with the right skincare products so what’s the big deal? But she will never be able to get rid of the trauma this whole thing will cause her . Of all the addiction in the world, attention seeking seem to be worst of them all in this day and age . The way grown women and men have embarrassed themselves in the past 24 hours is beyond me. Too bad. I’m so scared for the world our kids are growing into. I would like to personally sponsor her to a full body makeover and aesthetic care with. Full set of makeup from and skin care product .. please get in touch with me let’s make you GLOW!!!

Newsbroadcastnaija: It was quite a pitiable moment as this train's was cut short leaving passengers stranded on the road as a result of a fatal collision with a matured Elephant trying to cross the rail. Being in critical condition, the elephant finds it very difficult to move, had to crawl and drag self away from the rail slowly in anguish, but then the journey has got to pause for a while now as the train was partial damaged. Unfortunately, after 36hours of suffering in pains, the elephant later died in peace.

Railway stations and other types of construction block elephants’ ancient pathways as they migrate from forest to forest and now too many elephants are killed by speeding trains each year…this latest accident is just one example of this urgent problem.

Six Times Buhari Has Disobeyed Court Orders
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 07:25 PM - No Replies

Quote:[Image: poll.fw_.png]

The refusal of the Department of State Services to release Omoyele Sowore , the publisher of SaharaReporters, an online news platform from its custody has brought to mind several other instances where the government ignored court orders.

From unlawful imprisonment to outright refusal to obey court directives , below are some of the instance where the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has erred.

Omoyele Sowore

Omoyele Sowore , a former presidential candidate and publisher of SaharaReporters , an online news platform was on August 3 , 2019 arrested by the DSS in Lagos and transferred to Abuja .

The DSS obtained an ex parte order to keep Sowore for 45 days . Barely 24 hours to the expiration of the 45 days detention order , the Attorney -General of the Federation’ s office filed charges of treasonable felony , cybercrime offences and money laundering against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja .

Sowore ’s lawyer , Femi Falana applied for his bail pending his arraignment . Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the federal high court, Abuja granted the prayer.
Sowore has since filed a case of contempt against the DSS boss , Yusuf Bichi , for failing to comply with the court order granting him bail.

Ibraheem El -Zakzaky

On December 2 , 2016 , Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the federal high court in Abuja ordered the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria , Ibraheem El - Zakzaky and his wife , Zeenat from the custody of the Department of State Services .

As of the time of that ruling , El -Zakzaky and his wife had been in DSS ’ custody since December 2015 following an altercation between members of the Nigerian Army and the IMN in Zaria , Kaduna State .

Aside the order of the court to release them , the court also ordered that the DSS should pay the couple the sum of N 50 m as compensation.
This court order was disobeyed .

On August 5 , Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna State High Court, granted El -Zakzaky , leave to seek medical attention in New Delhi , India .
The couple left for India and within a week were back in the country without receiving medical attention.

El - Zakzaky and wife are back in the DSS custody as of the time of filing this report .
The IMN leader is standing trial in another court over allegations of culpable homicide , unlawful assembly and disruption of the public peace among other charges.

Sambo Dasuki

Former National Security Adviser , Col . Sambo Dasuki is also one of the persons, who is still in custody , despite several courts ordering his release .

On Monday , July 2 , 2018 , the Federal High Court in Abuja granted bail to Dasuki from the custody of the DSS where he had been detained for two and a half years as of that time.

Delivering judgment in the suit filed by the ex -NSA in March 2019 , Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu ruled that his detention since December 29 , 2015 , amounted to a violation of his right to liberty.

Ojukwu ruled that the Federal Government ’s contention that Dasuki was being kept in custody on the grounds of his alleged threat to national security and his alleged ongoing investigation for money laundering did not warrant “ abrogating his right ” .

The judge also said that should the DSS have any further reason to interrogate him , the security agency could only invite and interview him between the hours of 9 am and 6 pm on working days .

Dasuki was picked up by operatives of the State Security Service in December 2015 . He was accused of illegal possession of firearms and diversion of $ 2 .1 billion from the arms deal contract .

The Economic Community of West African States Court of Justice on October 4 , 2016 , ordered his release from the illegal custody ; a judgement which the DSS had not obeyed .

Court order on debt limit

Another judgment, which the Federal Government may have disobeyed was the one made by the Federal High Court in Abuja directing the Federal Government to set the overall limits for the “ amounts of consolidated debts ” of the nation ’ s federal, state and local governments.

Justice Kolawole gave the judgment on February 20 , 2018 , in a suit filed by the Centre for Social Justice .

Justice Kolawole said it was mandatory for the government to set the debt limits as provided by section 42 ( 1 ) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act , 2007 .

He specifically ordered the Federal Government to set the debt limits , which should be approved by both the Senate and the House of Representatives within 90 days of the judgment .
The judgment has also yet to be obeyed .

Recovered loot

In March 2016 , Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court , Abuja ordered the federal government to publish details on the spending of recovered stolen funds by successive governments since 1999 . This order has not been obeyed till date .

Navy Captain Dada Labinjo

Navy Captain Dada Labinjo is allegedly being detained in the underground detention facility of the Defence Intelligence Agency in Abuja since September 12 , 2018 .

His lawyer , Mr Femi Falana , said though he obtained an order of the Federal High Court for his release , Labinjo has not been released .
Falana , who said this in an August 15 , 2019 , letter to the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission , said Labinjo was just one of 67 persons, including foreigners , being illegally detained without trial by the navy.

Osinbajo: Timi Frank reacts to CAN president’s vis

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank has called on the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle to stop denigrating Christians in Nigeria.

Frank in a statement in Abuja also urged Dr. Ayokunle to face his priestly duties instead of using his sacred office to aid and abet corruption.

He said it was a mortal sin for the CAN head to portray the highly reverred Christian body in the country as being pro-corruption through his recent comments.

It could be recalled that Ayokunle, visited Osinbajo in Abuja on Friday and later spoke with reporters at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, where he met with top members of CAN.

He declared Osinbajo innocent of the N90billion allegation against him without proof and vowed to mobilise Christians against any act to destroy the works of the Vice President.

Frank said: “As a Christian, I am ashamed of the attitude and character of this present CAN president in the person of Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.

“CAN in its original form represents the body of Christ and Ayokunle ought to have known that it owes the citizenry or at least God, an obligation to win souls, be good ambassadors of the church and crusade for good governance.

“As a supposed shepherd of the nation’s Christian body, if two of your sheep have a misunderstanding, I think you ought to have heard from both parties before taking a position.

“I am however not surprised because like pregnancy evil cannot be hidden under tainted cassocks and collars.

“I have heard from not a few reliable quarters that he often goes cap in hand before politicians in the name of praying for them.

“It is shameful that the CAN President has turned the body of Christ into a political pressure group.

“At least, even if it is now a political party, he ought to have allowed its spokesman to speak on behalf of the organization.

“A President of CAN who could not get to interview the COZA pastor in view of the yet to be proved rape allegations against him, now deemed it expedient to defend fraud allegations against the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo,” he said.

He added: “I have not seen the CAN president visit Plateau or Benue States and other cities in Nigeria where a lot of Christians and innocent Nigerians are being gruesomely murdered by herders.

“Let the CAN President visit grieving Christian families in affected villages or for once speak out against oppression and bad governance in the country instead of banding himself together with queer characters to grant press conferences in support of corruption.

“The CAN president ought to know that it is utterly reprehensible to turn a sacred priestly body into a partisan vehicle for alms solicitations.

“People like Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and Patience Jonathan have been falsely accused in this country but CAN never interfered in any manner.

“Also, where was Ayokunle when Prof. Yemi Osinbajo accused ex-President Goodluck Jonathan of sharing N150billion within two weeks prior to the 2015 general elections – an allegation that was widely reported by the media?

“Could it be that Mr. CAN President, sorry, Chairman of CAN Political Party (CANPP) took part in the illegal disbursements of taxpayers’ funds at FIRS?

“Let him tell Christian leaders who elected him how much Osinbajo and Fowler gave him to organize such an ignominious press conference.

“These are men of doubtful character that must be urgently tamed before they inflict further harm on the reputation of Christians in this country.

“The character of this man is highly suspect but I apologize on behalf of all well-meaning Christians and their leaders for this attempt by Ayokunle to stain their garments.

“Late Martin Luther King jr. was a religious leader, who used his position to fight for the oppressed and downtrodden in society.

“Let Ayokunle learn from such noble men how to be a voice for the voiceless in Christendom.

He called on CAN to immediately take steps to bring on board a leadership that truly embodies the aims and objectives of the body.

“This CAN president is a no show and I urge the governing body of CAN to act swiftly to correct the evil impression or else the present CAN leadership would henceforth be regarded as the servants of mammon rather than servants of God.

“Very soon, God would expose him and every other person that is bent on giving CAN and by extension Nigerian Christians a bad name,” he said.

He called on Osinbajo to steer clear of Mr. Ayokunle and his band as they are only out to benefit from his predicament.

“As a learned gentleman, I humbly advise Prof. Osinbajo, not to take the intervention from CAN as an endorsement. Let him be wary of characters who are out to drag him into further trouble,” he said.

SERAP Urges Buhari To Implement Report On Financial Autonomy For Judiciary
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 01:11 PM - No Replies

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari urging him to use his good offices and leadership position to “urgently publish and fully implement the recommendations of the report on financial autonomy of state legislature and judiciary submitted to you in June 2019.”

SERAP said: “In the context of a growing attack on the country’s judiciary by the authorities and politicians, the full implementation of the report will contribute to improving judicial independence, and respect for constitutional principles of separation of powers and systems of checks and balances designed to prevent political interference and ensure respect for the rule of law.”

In the letter dated 27 September 2019, and signed by SERAP deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare, the organization said: “Equal treatment before the law is a pillar of democratic societies. But when judicial financial autonomy and by extension, independence and sanctity is undermined, the scales of justice are tipped, and ordinary Nigerians suffer. In fact, when judicial autonomy and independence is under siege, everyone loses, as the voice of the innocent goes unheard, while the guilty continue to act with impunity.”

The letter read in part: “The failure to publish the full recommendations of the report and to begin to implement them has continued to undermine the country’s judicial systems, and deny citizens’ access to justice and basic human right to a fair and impartial justice system.”

“Ensuring the financial autonomy and independence of the courts would improve the ability of our judicial systems to deliver justice effectively and efficiently. It would also allow the court to jealously guard the rights of innocent men and women, and ensure that the guilty receive a fair and impartial hearing, as well as remove the dangerous possibility of summary justice.”

“We urge you to ensure full respect for the rule of law and due process in words and actions.”

“A financially autonomous judiciary is crucial for the effectiveness and success of your anti-corruption agenda, and important for the realization of citizens’ human rights. Unless the report is fully implemented, trust in the court’s impartiality and independence will continue to be eroded, and the core judicial functions, access to justice, and the broader accountability function of the judiciary, will continue to be undermined.”

“A weak judiciary would mean that impunity for corrupt officials will remain, as the ability of your government and anti-corruption agencies to prosecute grand corruption, as well as public trust and confidence in institutions of government and public officials, will continue to be undermined.”

“SERAP is extremely concerned about the growing attack on the independence of the judiciary and the sanctity of our justice system, particularly the repeated failures by your government, state governments and politicians to respect and comply with court decisions and orders.”

“SERAP notes that you received in June 2019 the Report of the Abubakar Malami-led Presidential Implementation Committee on Financial Autonomy of State Legislature and Judiciary. The committee, inaugurated by you on March 22, 2019 was tasked to fashion out strategies and modalities for implementation of the financial autonomy of the state legislature and judiciary, in compliance with Section 121 (3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).”

“When you received the report, you stated that, ‘I went through a terrible time getting here for the three times I contested elections. That is why I want to stabilise the system so that others will not pass through the same experience.’”

“This worrying situation threatens to undermine the judiciary’s fragile independence, and the sacred constitutional principles of separation of powers and systems of checks and balances.”

“Continuing refusal to respect and obey court decisions and orders if not urgently stopped will lead to increased corruption and impunity. Disobedience of court orders is an implicit interference in the judicial system, and shows a flagrant disregard for Nigeria’s Constitution of 1999 (as amended) and international obligations. Persistent disobedience of court orders and decisions threatens any gains in the fight against corruption that your government may have recorded.”

“SERAP is concerned about the growing list of court orders and decisions that have been flagrantly disobeyed by your government, the most recent being the order by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, Federal High Court, Abuja granting bail to the Publisher of SaharaReporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, and the reported attempts by your government to drag Justice Taiwo before National Judicial Council (NJC) on account of his decision to grant bail to Mr Sowore.”

“Other high-profile judgments your government is refusing to obey include at least three judgments obtained by SERAP. The first is the judgment by Justice Hadiza Rabiu Shagari ordering the government to tell Nigerians about the stolen asset it allegedly recovered, with details of the amounts recovered. The second judgment, by Justice Mohammed Idris, ordered the government to publish details on the spending of stolen funds recovered by successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999.”

“The third judgment, Justice Chuka Austine Obiozor, a Professor of Law, ordered the government to publish details of payments to all defaulting and allegedly corrupt electricity contractors and companies by the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and your government.”

“Another court order that is yet to be complied with is the order for the release of Islamic Movement of Nigeria leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah, from unlawful detention, obtained by human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana.”

I Am Ashamed To Be Ex BBNaija Housemate - Kemen
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 12:20 PM - No Replies

Quote:Former Big Brother Nigeria contestant, Kemen Ekerete, has the unenviable record of being the first housemate to be disqualified from the show. He turned 30 some days ago and shared a post on social media, writing on losing his job in a multinational company at 26, battling depression and ill health, and how fitness helped him to be the man he is today.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the fitness enthusiast also stated that he was ashamed to be called a former BBNaija contestant. Speaking shortly before Tacha was eventually disqualified from the current edition of the show, Kemen said, “Many people till today still don’t know the basis for which I was disqualified. Did Big Brother officially put out a publication on why I was disqualified? It was only assumed Big Brother disqualified me because they thought I molested Tboss. There was a video which many thought showed that such action happened and Tboss and I saw the video. We analysed the video together and I know I didn’t do it. Tboss also knew she didn’t feel anything. We are in a country where people don’t want to know the truth and everyone has their opinion. I think the game is lawless and watered-down now. I know I didn’t do what I was accused of and I’ve genuinely forgiven anyone who tried to drag my name through the mud.

I’m still good friends with people they thought I’d be sworn enemies with and I’m living a good life. Now, I’m ashamed if anyone calls me an ex-big brother housemate because the show doesn’t represent the show I went for. All my housemates are wonderful people and but for the show, I wouldn’t have met them. My rage is not because I think a particular housemate should leave. My rage is that a lot of lawlessness is being condoned in the house. Standing on the reason for my disqualification, many people in this house shouldn’t still be in.”

However, Kemen also maintained that he had no regrets. He said, “Everything that has happened (to me) had to be that way for me to learn a lesson, get more serious and become a better person. I don’t have any regrets. Maybe if I had discovered certain things a bit earlier, I could be in a better place than I am now. But even that isn’t certain because sometimes, things don’t work out the way one plans.”

Kemen also said he didn’t begin fitness training to make money, but as a means to deal with depression and ill health. “From where I come, fitness isn’t something a young man would do for a living. I didn’t know it could put food on my table. I just did it to improve my health because I needed something positive that could keep me from thinking too much. Fitness helps you push a lot of things away, so I’m too strong now for any form of depression.”

The former reality show contestant insisted that looking back over the years, there was nothing he would have done differently while in the House. He said, “Things would have been done moderately. I’ve learnt about being conscious of the next person, my society and the need to be very careful in all one does. There’s also a place for taking responsibility, and forgiving oneself and the next person. I felt bad and was depressed at that time but I knew that I wasn’t a bad person, so I needed time for people to really know me. Sometimes, time is all we need”

Aisha Buhari’s Long Absence Not Due To Infighting In Aso Villa – Presidency
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-29-2019, 12:18 PM - No Replies

° ‘President’ s wife has absolute freedom to go anywhere ’

° PMB’ s wife absent from official events , spends second month abroad

Quote:JOHN AMEH

The Presidency on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife , Aisha ’ s absence in the country for about two months was not due to any infighting in Aso Villa .

The Presidency ’ s reaction comes amid the speculations that Aisha is unable to pull her weight round the Villa lately and uncomfortable with how government affairs were being run by some powerful people in her husband ’ s cabinet .

The Director of Information to the First Lady , Mr Suleiman Haruna , debunked the speculations and said the President ’s wife had the freedom to travel to wherever she wanted , as a free citizen .
Aisha has not been in the country for nearly two months since the completion of the Hajj . She reportedly jetted out of Saudi Arabia , where she went in company with her husband , to London at the completion of the religious pilgrimage in August.

She has not returned to the country since then, fuelling concerns that she deliberately left the Aso Villa in protest against certain issues at the seat of power.

The First Lady ’s prolonged absence at Aso Villa became pronounced as she did not attend public functions that she ordinarily would have attended .

She was said to have been absent during the mid - August Eid -el -Kabir celebration in Daura , Katsina State , even though his husband was around to welcome world leaders such as the President of Guinea , Alpha Conde.

It was reported that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration , Dr Hajo Sani, had been representing Aisha on a number of occasions recently , including an event of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development, which held on September 25 , 2019 , on the sidelines of the 74 th United Nations General Assembly in New York , United States .

The event was said to have been attended by the first ladies of Zimbabwe , Sierra Leone , Uganda and Niger Republic .

Although Mrs Buhari’s office confirmed to Sunday PUNCH that she was indeed away from the country , it said it had nothing to do with issues she had with anyone at the seat of power in Abuja.

The office said as a free Nigerian who was not a government official , Mrs Buhari could travel for private engagements both within and outside the country , adding that the reasons for such trips must not be tied to “ needless speculation or rumours . ”

Speaking to Sunday PUNCH after the case of Aisha ’ s absence from the country was raised , her spokesperson , Haruna, insisted the President ’s wife had the freedom to be wherever she wanted to be .

He said, “ It ’s a free world and people have been speculating about everything in this country and it is allowed .

“ She is a free Nigerian and does not work for the government . So, if she decides to stay somewhere in her village for two months or to go somewhere and stay for two months , why should it become a national issue ?

“ She is a free Nigerian and has absolute freedom to move round for however long she wants .”

Asked to comment on the speculation that Aisha was no longer comfortable with how the affairs of government were run and her alleged frequent brushes with some top administration officials , including the Chief of Staff to the President , Mr Abba Kyari , the director dismissed them as rumours .

“ I am in shock when I hear all these things . I don’ t believe in all these rumours about the President ’s wife because they are not true .
“ That is why , most times , the office does not bother to react to these speculations , ” Haruna added.

Aisha had publicly raised issues with her husband ’s administration , including the one where she stated that persons who did not contribute to her husband ’ s election victory were calling the shots at the Presidency .

She had also canvassed more roles for women in government , specifically asking the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress to ensure that more women and card- carrying members of the party were given prominent positions in the government after Buhari won a re - election in February .

In March 2019 , she hosted a programme in Buhari’ s Daura hometown to thank women for supporting her husband . She promised them that the President would recognise them more this time round and also make Nigeria a better place .

The President ’s wife had also criticised some of the administration ’s policies , including the N 500 bn Social Investment Programme, which she said had failed “ woefully” in the North in particular .

Aisha , who hails from Adamawa State , had noted in May this year that the situation in her home state , as far as the implementation was concerned , was pathetic .

She also cited Kano , a highly -populated northern state, as another example where she believed the programme failed, despite the huge funds the Federal Government budgeted for it .

Speaking during an interactive programme she organised for women at the Presidential Villa , she disclosed that after four years of implementing the programme, the 30 ,000 women who were supposed to benefit from it in Adamawa State had yet to do so.

However, in a reaction to Aisha ’s comments , the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Social Investment, Mrs Maryam Uwais , said the programme did not work the way the President ’s wife understood it .

Omoyele Sowore to be re-arraigned on September 30th before another judge

The Federal Government will on Monday, September 30th arraign Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to a report by Punch, he is to be arraigned on seven counts of treasonable felony, money laundering and cybercrimes which was instituted against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

The Department of State Service, which has been detaining the former presidential candidate since August 3, continues to hold him in custody in violation of the court order granting him bail six days ago.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, who earlier on August 8, granted the DSS permission to hold the activist for 45, had on September 24, granted him bail. Despite meeting the bail condition on September 25, Sowore has not been released by the DSS.

Sources also confirm that the criminal case instituted against Sowore was not assigned to Justice Taiwo Taiwo, but to Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who has subsequently fixed Monday for arraignment.

In the charges instituted against the defendants, the prosecution accused Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, of committing conspiracy to commit treasonable felony in breach of Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants committed the offence by allegedly staging “a revolution campaign on August 5, 2019 aimed at removing the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The prosecution also accused them of committing the actual offence of treasonable felony in breach of section, 4(1)© of the Criminal Code Act, by using the platform of Coalition for Revolution, in August 2019 in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, to stage the #RevolutionNow protest allegedly aimed at removing the President.

It also accused Sowore of cybercrime offences in violation of section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention) Act, by “knowingly” sending “messages by means of press interview granted on Arise Television network which you knew to be false for the purpose of causing insult, enmity, hatred and ill-will on the person of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

It also accused Sowore of money laundering offences in breach of section 15(1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 by alleged transferring by means of swift wire, various sums of money from his United Bank of Africa Plc account with number 3002246104 into Sahara Reporters Media Foundation’s account with Guaranty Trust Bank in order to conceal the origin of the funds.

Fresh Yellow Fever outbreak kills 16 people in Bauchi State

Rilwanu Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency has disclosed that the death toll in the recent Yellow Fever outbreak in the State has risen to 16 out of 20 confirmed cases.

Mohammed who gave the updates in an interview with newsmen in his office in Bauchi this weekend said the increase in the death toll followed the rejection of vaccination by some citizens during the statewide vaccination.

According to him, no fewer than 119 suspected cases of Yellow fever were recorded in the state out of which 20 cases were confirmed and 16 died.

Quote:He said: “We realise that all the people that rejected vaccination are the ones dying. The last three victims four days ago refused the vaccine and all three were infected. They took them to a traditional healer who did his own work but the two were still unconscious. They were later taken to Bauchi but all of them died.”
He said all the cases were from Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state. The Primary Health Executive Secretary explained that, “We are planning to go into all the confirmed areas, about 55 places on Monday to carry out a door spraying of all the lava sights and fumigation of all the communities.”

He disclosed that for visitors coming to Yankari Games Reserves, where the first three confirmed cases of Yellow Fever were recorded, vaccination points have been created while all the chalets have mosquito nets to ensure that guests are protected. Mohammed disclosed that at least 21 states in Nigeria have Yellow fever outbreak while only three states -Bauchi, Katsina and Ebonyi States are now active.

Daily Devotional for Sunday 29th September

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 29TH SEPTEMBER.

OUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY AS KINGPRIESTS

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen (Revelation 1:6).

Every Christian is a king-priest unto God. You may say, “I never answered the call to be a priest.” But the day you made Jesus Christ Lord of your life, you were immediately catapulted to that office. And your primary responsibility as a king-priest is intercession.

In intercession, you take hold together with God; you side with Him in bringing His will to pass on behalf of someone else. That means you must know His will and purpose concerning a person, a country, a situation, or whatever you’re praying about, to be able to pray accurately.

Some Christians have cultivated the erroneous belief that the ministry of intercession is for certain Christians or for only those in the church’s prayer group, but that’s not true. We all have an obligation of intercession (Ephesians 6:18).

In 1 Timothy 2:1-3, the Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, writes, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men…For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.” So, you have to fulfil your ministry of intercession as a king-priest, and in so doing, there’re certain facts to note.

First, the prayer of intercession is always on behalf of another. Secondly, you’ll have to be persistent, because you’re trying to prevail on someone else to align with God’s will. Therefore, you must continue in prayer for as long as it takes, concentrating the influence of God’s power towards the one for whom, or the situation for which, you desire a change. Also, watch out for the note of victory in your spirit; that’s when you become certain that you have what you asked for.

Take up the ministry of intercession and learn to cause changes in the Name of Jesus. God has given you the dominion and the authority to alter the course of events in the earth—the occurrences in your life, in your family, and in the lives of those around you. You can achieve this through your intercessory ministry as a king-priest.

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for counting me faithful and committing to me the ministry of intercession. I affirm that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has free course and is glorified in the nations of the World, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Control X Keto avoiding certain foods, you will have to limit the portions you eat. You will not have another option, because if you eat too much, you will feel very bad. The middle stomach can contain about 6 cups of fluid, but after a weight loss operation, your stomach can only hold one cup. It will expand a bit, but don't expect much!Keep in mind that these healthy changes in your diet will last a lifetime. You can still eat delicious food, but you will have to adjust your habits regarding how much and how often you eat.Exercise is a wonderful thing. Simple things like walking can work wonders for your physical health. It is also good for your mental well-being and can even be a spiritual or romantic adventure, depending

"I have NOT been married 3 times... I have only been married ONCE" Mofe Duncan addresses rumours for the first time

Mofe Duncan has addressed the rumour surrounding his marriage for the first time.

The actor, who was married to Jessica Kakkad for three years before their marriage crashed last year, denied rumours that his marriage to Jessica was his third time being married. He said he has only ever been married to Jessica.

He said this in response to being shamed by Instagram trolls after he indirectly criticized Tasha's character. The trolls told him that he claims he has character yet has been married and divorced three times. But Duncan said this isn't true.

He wrote:

Quote: @utty_benn you represent the group of people with this thought process that I HAVE BEEN MARRIED AND DIVORCED 3 TIMES, so I will address you as those I am addressing them. I have NOT been married 3 times... I have only been married ONCE. • Also being divorced is NOT a terminal contagious disease, it also does NOT mean that you are monster or the person you divorced is a monster from HELL, Jess & I are still VERY GOOD FRIENDS with MUTUAL RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AND OUR RESPECTIVE FAMILIES. ? Remember, Megan was divorced and STILL married a PRINCE. ? God bless you @utty_benn and to those married, may God keep your home. To those DIVORCED, may you find peace in your heart. And to those yet to marry, may you find the right person and may it last forever. ? Quote:A Unclad couple fell to their deaths while having sex on a third-floor balcony after a house party, it was reported yesterday.

The woman, a 28-year-old mother, and her 35-year-old lover slipped over the edge of a wall while romping in Ecuador, it's believed.

They fatally plunged onto the terrace below, cops told local reporters in the capital Quito.

The tragic pair was discovered by a neighbour in the Carapungo district who heard a loud crash and rushed outside to investigate.

A heartbroken relative of the unnamed woman said she was the mother of an 8-year-old girl.
The fall happened not long after she threw a graduation party at her home, the relative added.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances, said Calderon Police District Operations Chief Cristhian Trujillo.

Local media reports said the couple wasn’t paying attention to the height of the balcony wall and toppled over it while having sex.

Oluremi Tinubu: Lazy Lagos Youths Are Always In My House For Free Money

Quote:Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and wife of a former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said youths of today are lazy and not ready to work.

According to her, most of the youths in Lagos would come to her husband’s house, claiming “they want to enjoy Asiwaju’s money.”

She, however, expressed displeasure that “most of these youths don’t want to work”, adding that “the moment you give them work to do, they fall sick.”

Sen. Tinubu added that youths of nowadays are interested in making quick money, “but they don’t want to work before making the money.”

She added that, “our youths are very rude because they want to be like all those people abroad.”

Speaking on a Lagos Television programme on Saturday morning, Tinubu said her New Era Foundation Patience Home had concluded plans to empower youths in her senatorial district.

Tinubu disclosed that 10 youths each from all the local governments under Lagos CentraI would benefit from the empowerment initiative.

The Lagos Senator enjoined youths in her senatorial district to contact their local government chairmen and avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the foundation.

A Nigerian lady has confessed to selling all her three kids she had with three different men  for N500,000.

The lady, Blessing Stephen, who is a member of a child trafficking syndicate was arrested alongside a self-acclaimed doctor, Una Godwin, 58; Blessing John, 27,  Israel Ariyo, 33, Itoro Anthony, 40, and Mforbong Ntoro, 48, who all operate together.

They were recently arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.

A manhunt for one of the suspects, John, led to the arrest of others after she abandoned a four-year-old boy she had abducted in a church in Ketu.

She reportedly abducted the boy, Ojo, at Ikota Housing Estate in Ajah in July 2019 and then sold him in Akwa Ibom State to Ntoro for N350,000. But due to Ojo's unpleasant cries which left Ntoro’s neighbours suspicious of her, she was forced to return the child to John and then asked for a baby as a replacement.

When John brought the child back to Lagas, she reportedly abandoned him inside the church in Ketu and disappeared. The church reported the incident at the Ketu Police Station and the boy was later reunited with his parents.

After a petition was written to the IRT to arrest the suspect, the team tracked down John a few weeks ago down to Ibadan, Oyo State, and she led them to arrest her other accomplices.

According to her, she went into child trafficking due to hardship and needed money to treat an ailment she was battling with.

John said, “I did an abortion which backfired. I had a surgery and needed money to continue treatment. I contacted my friend, Blessing Stephen, and she told me I could raise money by stealing a child. I abducted the boy and took him to Ibadan, Oyo State, where Blessing lived with her husband (Israel Ariyo).

“The boy spent three days with them before we took him to Akwa Ibom where we sold him to Mrs Ntoro for N350,000.”

Stephen, a native of Nsitayi, Akwa Ibom State also confessed she sold all the three kids s she had with three different men to Ntoro, who in turn resold them.

She said, “I once lived in Ikota, Ajah. I dated one Julius Abang and he impregnated me. I had a boy named Emmanuel for him in 2010 and the following year, we broke up. My mother was taking care of me and the boy but when life became unbearable, I sought advice from Mrs. Ntoro, who is from my village.

“She advised me to sell the child and tell his father that he is dead. I sold him for N150,000. In 2012, my mother died and I travelled to Akwa Ibom for her burial. I dated another man, a truck driver, and he impregnated me. After some time, he abandoned me and I sold the child I had for him for N100,000.

“In 2013, I met another lover who is a motorcycle rider. Within six months, he impregnated me but he was so poor that he could not even feed me or pay rent. The engine of the motorcycle packed up and he became jobless. We sold the baby for N250,000 and Mrs Ntoro collected N20,000. Later Mrs. Ntoro called from the village that she needed another baby boy. I told Blessing (John) but unfortunately, we ran into trouble.”

One of the suspects, Godwin also revealed how he made N300,000 proceeds from two babies they sold nd how he helped women to sell their babies because they were desperately in need of money.

He said, “A woman told me that her husband was doing illegal oil bunkering and was killed in the process. She said life was tough for her and that she wanted to sell one of her five children to survive the hardship. I told Mrs. Anthony to look for a buyer. She sold the baby N450,000 and I gave the mother N350,000 and I collected only N100,000.”

The police are still investigating to track those who Ntoro sold children to.

#BBNaija: ''My weakness played against my strength, I apologize'' Tacha breaks silence after her disqualification

Tacha has finally spoken up after her disqualification from the ongoing Big Brother Naija show.

In a post shared on her Instagram page this morning, Tacha stated that it was never her intention to leave the Big Brother house disqualified. She said she unfortunately allowed her weakness play against her strength.

She went on to apologise for her action. Read her post below

Quote:Dear Titans,
Words cannot readily express how much your love and acceptance means to me at this point. Even my imperfection could not sway your support.
THANK YOU!

Coming out of the Big Brother House disqualified was never my intention. Unfortunately, my weakness played against my strength and cut short what should have been a grand ending, with or without the prize.

I sincerely apologize for every action on my part that led to this point and I take full responsibility for it all.
I am an adult and ought to be in control of my emotions, but I'm human and I failed time and again. Please forgive me. I sincerely wanted to make it, at least to the 99th day.

The fight to be seen and heard takes its toll on everyone of us irrespective of where, when or how it comes. What counts is what we make out of a seemingly ugly situation.
I know I need to work on my emotional health... That's a fact as I have become conscious of it now. Being on this show has shown me that, I am not just a work in progress but I have the chance to become a better me on all fronts, if I give myself the chance to heal.
And this I promise to give due diligence.

So for what you have been to me, I heard some of you even cried and held vigil for me. I cannot thank you enough. You all became my mother, friends and family and this means so much to me right now. Your prayers, time and resources spent to push me through to this point cannot be quantified in any form, but i sincerely thank you from the depth of my heart.

Against the odds, you all are the reason why I stand and remain hopeful that everything will fall into place, that I can make it through this storm and come out on the sunny side in time.

My social media official handles are open and I can be reached there for now.

Thank you Titans, Thank you to everyone who supported me privately and openly, Thank you Africa, Thank you Nigeria, THANK YOU WORLD!
I saved the best for last. Thank you to the organizers of Big Brother Nigeria for this platform, it may not have ended as I hoped and wanted, but it gave me the opportunity to rise. It was worth it and for this reason, I am grateful.
Biggie, @bigbronaija Thank you!
Blessings?.

36 Dead Cows: Leave Yorubaland Now, Gani Adams Tells Herders

or there’ll be more trouble

° Urges monarchs to fulfill traditional obligations

Quote:By Isioma Madike and Tosin Makanjuola

“They should move out of the South-West immediately because they don’t have anywhere to stay in the zone. The South-West will not be convenient for them”. Those were the words of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, while speaking on the recent tragedy, in which 36 cows were killed in Ijare community, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He added: “We thank God that the Inspector General of Police and the federal government have taken the security of south west more seriously because they understand the economic and political implication of it. So, I think from the IGP response they are not living any stone untouched so the collaboration will start practically maybe next week or in two weeks.
“I spoke with the CP and they said they would not leave any stone untouched because they are more serious about the matter.

They have bought vehicles and machine to start their own arrangement too, so by the time we harmonize the two, definitely the criminals will not have a place to live, and we are serving them notice to leave south west even Nigeria because I know that what we are doing in South West will be a good example for other regions to follow.”

Warning that the sad oc- currence is just a tip of the iceberg and a caution to herdsmen and other livestock shepherds, who are in the habit of straying into farmlands in the South West, the generalissimo of the Yoruba nation said there are bound to be more of such consequences if ‘foreigners’ do not desist from desecrating sacred land. Explaining that the mysterious death of the cows shows that the deities in Yorubaland are still alive to their responsibilities, Iba Adams said it is quite unfortunate that many people had forgotten their tradition.

“Because we have abandoned out traditions, that is one of the reasons we are having the problems we are facing in Yorubaland. During the Oyo Empire, we normally use our deities to conquer wars but it is quite unfortunate that our people did not know the difference between tradition, culture and religion”, he said. Insisting that the recent calamity that befell a cattlerearing group in the agrarian community was as a result of the desecration of a sacred place, Aare Adams argued that thunder and lightning are part of the secret powers of the Yoruba race, and that their efficacies are still very potent.

He also warned communities that refuse to practice their traditional faith and fail to worship their deities that they may not have the same instant reaction as that of Ijare because the divinities in such areas may be slow in reacting to desecrations, owing to their neglect by the people. However, he agreed that such powers are not limited to the Yoruba race, noting that there are many of such places, with such mysterious powers all over the world, giving examples of Brazil, Mexico, and countries in the Caribbean, Africa and elsewhere.

“What happen there was as a result of the sacred place, which must not be touched, unless by the kings of that community and some members of spiritual groups in the community. When the cows passed, the thunder struck and killed the cows.

So, it is part of the secret powers in Yorubaland. “But for communities that do not grease its own, they may not react at the right time. We have many sacred places in Yorubaland that our community leaders and the rulers have abandoned.

In the whole world, God give every human being and each community, the power to react at the right time. “It is not peculiar to Yoruba race only and you have seen different things that happened all over the world. Even the hurricane, they investigated it and said that some were caused spiritually by human beings. A lot has happened in Yorubaland, when you want to write what has happened, Yoruba is enriched and it has been in existence for the past 8500 years.

He further advised Yoruba monarchs and the masses to pursue their tradition beliefs irrespective of the religion they practice so as to forestall problems in the near future, even as he noted that tradition could be used in fighting crime and reduce ills of the society.

“I will just advise our royal fathers and the people that no matter how we practice Christianity and Islam, we should not overlook our tradition. What binds Yorubas together is our tradition; the only respected sector of the Yoruba now is the tradition. If Yoruba stop our tradition, definitely there would be problem. “We will have more recog-nition and more prosperity if we uphold our tradition and cherish it.

We can use tradition to fight crime, if you consult what you have in your community and pray against crime, I can tell you authoritatively that if it is not totally eradicated, it will reduce. “As it is said, Heaven helps those who help themselves. If the deities and their intermediaries are in a Yoruba palace, they will intercede between man and God.

In Christianity, they pray through Jesus Christ to God but in Yoruba tradition, they believe that you pray through the deities to God.

“Since 8500 years ago, they have existed, before the coming of Christianity in 1864 to Yorubaland, so, Yoruba believe that if they have a security threat, they will go through all the deities in the community and report the incident to them. Once the necessary rites are performed, I can assure you that, if not 100 per cent, at least 86 per cent of the situation would be under control”, he noted.

I will fight back – Gov. Wike issues strong warning to PDP, APC

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has declared that many states were being used to fight against Rivers State for the illegal grabbing of the state’s oil wells.
Commissioning the Dualised/Reconstructed Birabi Street, Elegbam-Rumueme in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Friday, Governor Wike said the State has the capacity to resist any form of oil well annexation.

He said, “So many states are being used to fight Rivers State to collect our oil Wells. We have the capacity to fight back. No state will take what belongs to Rivers State.
“Whether you are PDP or APC State, anybody who attempts to take what belongs to Rivers, Rivers State will fight back.
“This is not a question of party. It is the interest of the state that matters. My interest is Rivers State, not political party. If you are in PDP and you don’t love Rivers State, I will not love you . My love for you is based upon your love for Rivers State.”.

He said that Rivers State deserves the best, noting that his administration will continue to work for the growth of the state.
The governor said that his administration will enhance the infrastructural base of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas, as a large percentage of Rivers people live in the state capital territory.
He thanked the people of Rumuadaolu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area for cooperating with the contractors to deliver the road.

Governor Wike praised Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili for grooming the present generation of political leaders in the state.
“Dr Peter Odili is the person who brought all of us up. No political leader can claim that he is what he is today without Odili .
“Odili laid the foundation. But for him, Ikwerre man would not be Governor of Rivers State. Ikwerre people owe him a lot. It was difficult in this state for any Ikwerre man to be Governor. He took the risk for an Ikwerre man to be Governor .

“I know the hatred people have on him because he said an Ikwerre man must be Governor. We shall continue to stand with him. Any Ikwerre man who is anywhere without recognising Odili will not know peace. Any Ikwerre man plotting against you and your family will never have peace.”

Governor Wike said the many fights Odili is having today is because he insisted that an Ikwerre man should be Governor. He urged the Former Rivers State Governor not to regret facilitating the emergence of an Ikwerre Governor in the state.

In a project description, Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Works, Dr Walter Ndu said the ministry is implementing the governor’s outstanding urban renewal programme.

He said the road was a single lane, before the Rivers State Governor directed that a section be dualised, while the second section was expanded for improved traffic.

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Solomon Eke praised the governor’s sense of judgement in dualising the road that leads to the headquarters of Salvation Ministries. He said thousands of international visitors to the church would enjoy using the high quality road.
He said that the people of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area appreciate the governor’s commitment to the development of the area.

UNGA: Aisha Buhari Missing As Africa First Ladies Protest Against Rape
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-28-2019, 10:36 AM - No Replies

Aisha, the wife of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, was conspicuously absent as Africa’s First Ladies, led by Sierra Leone’s Fatima Maada Bio, brought their campaign to ban early child marriage and sexual violence against women and girls before the UN General Assembly.

The First Ladies, including Jeanette Kagame (Rwanda), Clar Weah (Liberia), Antoinette Sassou Nguesso (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Auxilla Mnangagwa (Zimbabwe), continued their passionate appeal for the world to support their “Hands Off Our Girls! Campaign.

Nigeria is one of the countries with an alarming rate of challenges women and the girl child face.

Mrs. Aisha has not attended public functions in recent weeks but she’s usually represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Dr Hajo Sani.
Why the president’s wife did not attend the UNGA event said “she was represented”.

According to Girls Not Brides, a global partnership of more than 1300 civil society organisations working towards ending child marriage and enabling girls to fulfill their potential, 44% of girls in Nigeria are married before their 18th birthday and 18% are married before the age of 15.

It quoted a UNICEF report that “Nigeria has the third highest absolute number of child brides in the world – 3,538,000 – and the 11th highest prevalence rate of child marriage globally.

“Child marriage is most common in the North West and North East of Nigeria, where 68% and 57% of women aged 20-49 were married before their 18th birthday. Child marriage is particularly common among Nigeria’s poorest, rural households and the Hausa ethnic group.

“A 2017 World Bank study estimates that child marriage costs Nigeria USD7.6 billion in lost earnings and productivity every year.

“Child marriage is driven by gender inequality and the belief that girls are somehow inferior to boys. In Nigeria, child marriage is also driven by level of education.

“73% of Nigerian women with no formal education were married before 18, compared to only 9% who had completed higher education. Further education is almost impossible for some girls, who have little choice but to depend on their husbands for the rest of their lives.”

At the sidelines of the UNGA, Bio flanked by her husband President Julius Bio, spoke to “lift the lid of silence” taboo and stigma surrounding rape and early marriage in Sierra Leone and other parts of the continent.
Aided by an older sister, she took a flight out of her native Sierra Leone to the United Kingdom – without her father’s knowledge or permission. “I come from a family where girls are married at 12 years,” she recalled.

President Bio, responding to a question on how deeply set cultural mindsets could be changed, said it would take patience and persistence. “We have to leave some aspects of culture behind. We have to establish institutions and cascade our campaigns down across the entire country.”

Speaking, Clar Weah stressed that it was time to collectively say no to abuse. “We renew our commitment to create a safe world for our girls in Africa. We entreat all presidents and heads of states to join us,” she appealed.

Ermine Erdogan, First Lady of Turkey, who made a special appearance to support the event, said the key to the empowerment of women was education.

“There is no excuse for early marriage. The place for a school-going child is school,” she declared.

In his remarks, African Development Bank (ADB) President, Akinwumi Adesina, spoke out against all forms of early marriage and said the economic empowerment of women is a critical tool to end the vicious cycle of marginalization and gender imbalance.

“That’s why the Bank is raising $3 billion to support women,” Adesina said, referring to the Bank’s Affirmative Finance Action for Women In Africa (AFAWA) initiative.

“Early marriage is not only a human rights abuse it is an economic issue,” Rachel Yates, Executive Director of Girls Not Brides, said.

Other voices in support of the First Ladies included Djereje Wordofa, UNFA Deputy Executive Director, who said protection of girls and women and preventing abuse must become a national priority.

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organisation, disclosed that it was a subject he dreaded but had to talk about. “Child marriage reinforces poverty. It is totally unacceptable. We must speak out against political, religious and social practices,” he said.

INEC disqualifies 14 political parties for fielding invalid candidates ahead of Kogi and Bayelsa State governorship polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disqualified 14 political parties from participating in the upcoming elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states for fielding invalid candidates.

Disclosing this in a statement in Abuja on Friday, September 27th, INEC National Commissioner and the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said the commission disqualified eight parties in Kogi state and six in Bayelsa state.  According to the commission, 49 of the political parties in Kogi state had submitted names and personal particulars of their nominated governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the November 16 governorship election.

It explained further that only 23 political parties will be allowed to participate in the election, owing to the fact that eight of the parties violated the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) by nominating under-aged candidates. He also said that 18 other political parties voluntarily withdrew from participating in the election.

However, 46 out of the 52 political parties that submitted names and credentials of their candidates for the election in Bayelsa state will be participating in the election.  According to commission, six of the parties were also disqualified for also violating the rules of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) by nominating under-aged candidates.

Quote:“At the close of the time stipulated by sections 31, 33 and 35 of Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) for the submission of the names of nominated candidates, 49 nominations were received for Kogi State.
“Out of these, 41 nominations were valid while 8 were invalid. Subsequently, 18 political parties withdrew from contesting the elections. Therefore, 23 political parties will contest the Governorship election in Kogi State.
“For Bayelsa State, a total of 52 nominations were received. Out of these, 46 were valid, while 6 were invalid. One political party has since withdrawn from the contest, leaving a total of 45 political parties to contest the Governorship election in Bayelsa State.
“In compliance with section 34 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), the full names and addresses of all candidates standing nominated will be published in the relevant offices and on the website of the Commission on Monday, September 30, 2019,” the statement said.

Tacha 'spiritually disqualified' herself the moment she angrily erased her photo from the top 10 housemates Omashola drew - Nigerians Tweet

Two days ago Big Brother Naija housemates were asked to make use of the grey wall in the living room paintings that'll leave an impression of themselves in the house.

With this task, Omashola took it upon himself to make a painting of the top 10 housemates left in the house, but Tacha wasn't having it, she angrily erased herself from the painting.

When asked in the diary room how he felt about her action, Omashola confessed how much it hurt and how things could have turned ugly if not for self control.

Tacha however said she removed herself because it didn't look nice and made her look like 'Chucky Chucky'.

Now, Nigerians are saying Tacha spiritually disqualified herself from the game the moment the angrily erased herself from Omashola's drawing

[Image: JAdB4IdDAZeBPYDgzIHNvzhraHVgW0UQ2bb3mE0A...zPp1u2xihP]
Kèo Tài xỉu (Over – Under)

President Buhari And His 'fuji House Of Commotion' -- Dele Momodu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-28-2019, 10:09 AM - No Replies

Igberetv brings you an article by Dele Momodu on the administration of President Buhari. Read below.

Fellow Nigerians, the title of my epistle to you this week is an adaptation of the title of a sitcom which was produced and directed by the legendary Amaka Igwe of blessed memory. No other title better describes and encapsulates the total confusion, chaos and conflagration ongoing in the powerhouse of Aso Rock in Nigeria right now. I swear, it won’t be an exaggeration to say I have never witnessed such rivalry combined with ribaldry, and tomfoolery before.

Let me paint a picture of this ugly scenario as best as I can as a compulsive storyteller. Major General Muhammadu Buhari was Nigeria’s military Head of State from the last day of 1983 to sometime in August 1985. His military rule was hinged on a purported war against indiscipline which seemed to leave certain privileged persons unscathed but ensured that life was more than tough for the usual recalcitrant fellows who were unlucky not to find favour with the government. The administration did not last too long, but it left its indelible mark, for better or for worse, depending on which side of the divide you belonged.

The Babangida coup that guillotined and torpedoed Buhari’s regime wasted no time in hounding Buhari and hauling him into detention. Many would have thought it was the very end for Buhari in the game of politics, but man proposes, and God disposes. Buhari kept a few years in confinement before he was eventually released. And we all thought that any ambition he nursed to return to power was over. Buhari was known to be introverted, a man of few words. He returned home quietly.

The military handed over to a full-fledged civilian administration after the botched “Third Republic” and suddenly soldiers and other military personnel came out of the woodwork in civilian toga to contest elections with their civilian counterparts. It was a mismatch. The military men had more guile, gusto and guts. They also had esprit de corps which they used to their overwhelming advantage. Then suddenly, words reached us that almost from the blues, Buhari was seriously considering coming back from retirement to contest for the post of President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, a real reincarnation. He was instantly dismissed by many Nigerians as embarking on an impossible mission. And this proved to be the case. He contested first in 2003 but lost to another retired General and former Head of State Olusegun Obasanjo. It was difficult to tell if theirs was a relay race and an exchange of baton. But predictably Buhari lost.

In 2007, Buhari contested again, this time against Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He lost. And cried foul but the judicial umpire ruled otherwise. Buhari did not relent. Indeed, his failures and woes seemed to goad him on. In 2011, he came back to contest against the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan. I was part of this particular race as a Presidential candidate myself, but I flunked and was trounced mercilessly. That’s another story for another day, except that I would say that I learnt the lesson that if you are not a member of a mainstream party you are wasting your time contesting the highest office in the land. Your popularity and good works count for nought. Buhari was palpably frustrated because he felt he had a good chance and there were newspaper headlines which claimed he wept and that he had vowed never to contest again.

However, things were soon to change. The 2015 election season came around. Unexpectedly and surprisingly, given the events of the 2011 election and the aftermath of the results, Buhari’s name was being bandied about as a possible Presidential aspirant of an all-inclusive new opposition group. One thing led to another and Buhari was suddenly considered not just as a potential aspirant but a promising candidate that was capable of dismantling the PDP monopoly and dislodging President Goodluck Jonathan from power. In my view, as a minor participant in the events that culminated in sending PDP packing, Buhari was in the right place at the right time. The lines simply fell into place for him. The stars aligned and his number came up. The Nigerian public was simply fed up with Jonathan and the gross ineptitude and unbridled corruption that characterised his PDP government. This was what catapulted Buhari back into reckoning. Let me put it succinctly, the opposition politicians coalesced in their desperation for power and settled for Buhari’s candidacy despite the many misgivings about him based on what was felt to be his inglorious past. There was hardly any politician or critic of the time who had not said unkind words to and about Buhari on tape and on paper.

But their permutations were as selfish followers who seemed too eager to come in from the bitterly cold wilderness of opposition politics. They based their support for Buhari on the following matters:

One, bring Buhari as a Mandela option, more of a ceremonial figure, to help destroy PDP and serve in the interim, probably for only four years. He himself had said at his age he would serve only one term of four years. His supporters found that attractive because they can then ride on his back to power in four years, almost effortlessly. There was obvious concern that the man would become the scourge and Frankenstein that had been unleashed in his first coming, but the lure of power was too much for the power-hungry supporters. It is noteworthy that at this stage in the planning, there was no cabal, or any of those who would form its core, in sight.

Two, they needed to repackage Buhari as a reformed leader and born-again Democrat because many had raised questions about his dictatorial past. The packagers even toyed with dropping his biggest achievement on earth, the title of Major General, out of fear of a possible backlash about his past. They reassured themselves that Buhari was not really the one in charge of affairs in his first outing as a military Head of State and that his fame or notoriety for delegation of authority would mean that he could be checkmated. So, the theory was that his Vice President, this time again, will do the bulk of the work. This was the reason the job of Vice President, which used to be that of a glorified errand boy, suddenly became popular and competitive and everyone wanted it. Still no one took the invisible cabal into consideration.

Three, the issue of religion was a controversial one hanging around Buhari’s neck like an albatross because of the perception that he’s an Islamic fundamentalist. It was that label that ultimately nullified Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of becoming running mate to Buhari. Buhari himself was too scared of a Muslim/Muslim ticket as this would have provided ammunition for his enemies. Again, it was this desperation not to be tagged a religious bigot that led to picking Pastor Tunde Bakare as Vice Presidential candidate in 2011 and Pastor Yemi Osinbajo in 2015. The unseen cabal supported the choices. No problem.

Four, Buhari’s personal assets were his ascetic and frugal comportment, his supposed incorruptibility, and very strict ability to punish crime. Even his ardent critics would readily agree and admit that Buhari had been well packaged and marketed as the last saint standing in Nigeria. Till this day, Brand Buhari, is yet to be rubbished despite the ghostly rumours of a shadowy past.

Five, the insecurity in the land was another major consideration. Who else but Buhari can exterminate the nuisance terrorists and terrorism that had been constituted and seemingly consecrated in Nigeria? It was as if Buhari possessed some talismanic power to disperse Boko Haram and its likes from the forests of a thousand daemons.

To achieve all these, it was absolutely necessary to assemble the good and the bad into one huge party. The desperation to win at all cost necessitated the move to proliferate the new mega party with saints and sinners. Buhari was no longer under any illusion about the mega costs and expense of political campaigns and how the bad guys must fund it. The hidden cabal had no objection to the association of strange bedfellows. All PDP renegades were welcome. Large sums of donations and private jets came handy. Win, we must.

I’m sure, you can see I love history and telling stories by moonlight. I’m leading you somewhere, indeed to a nice crescendo, because we must never forget how we got here. We all worked in unison, there was no other way to arrive at our destination. The elections came and the coalition forces won spectacularly! The world rejoiced. Unfortunately, that was the beginning of total confusion. Major participants came forward with their plates and cutlery thinking they were partners in progress, entitled to large chunks of the fat meat they had all helped to roast. But not a few of them were soon told to calm down. Yes, there was a new Sherriff in town, but he had come complete with a hitherto unknown team which was not prepared to share the spoils with all comers. So, trouble started. Too much time was wasted in getting a simple, uninspiring cabinet together. All we had and heard were cacophonous excuses and free for all punches from every direction as to why a government in which there was invested great hope and expectation was showing crassness, ineptitude and cluelessness. Even the wife of the President, Lady Aisha Buhari, soon cried out. She became the leading critic of a government of which her husband is the head and she fingered a powerful cabal as the cause of our woes.

Anyway. The first term of four years soon evaporated as we all knew it would. Time always flies. The President sought a second term and got it, by fire and by force. A substantial credit must go to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who staked everything to promote his boss and project his party. He nearly worked himself to the point of death. Frankly speaking, his reputation suffered a collateral damage in the process of struggling to defend the indefensible. Unsuspecting, and probably suffering from political naivety, he went overboard and stepped on so many toes. Also unknown to him, the battle for 2023 had already started in earnest well before the ink had dried on the paper that the election results had been written upon. Osinbajo would soon be the fall guy and whipping boy of a group of desperate politicians intent on cornering the Nigerian conglomerate and clasping it to their bosom forever.

According to one analysis, the North is not interested in rotating any Presidential position. They want to hold on fastidiously and ceaselessly to power. Other regions can fight themselves for the remaining slots. The South believes that the principle of rotation which has unwittingly been foisted on the nation means that it is their turn. Thus, two major groups have already shown subliminal signs of wanting to contest, one in the North and one in the South, Nasir El Rufai and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, respectively. Both groups are suspicious of what they consider surreptitious and clandestine moves by friends of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to spring a surprise at the most auspicious time. He has therefore become their number one target. Since he is fair game, he is being used for target practice, but the anointed man of God knows that all power lies with God and that no evil can befall those that God has chosen. He refuses to play their game nut simply continues to smile. Indeed, that smile seems like a playful knowing smile. Time will tell.

The cabal is not left out of the shenanigans. Although El Rufai is supposedly a putative member of the larger group, the innermost core of the cabal seems to have some interest in Baba Gana Kingibe, at least for now. That is if they are not hiding a darker horse in a cave and using Baba Gana as a red herring, in typical fashion of the underhand and sinister way they have been playing their politics. There are other ambitious Governors and former Governors who are interested but perching or lying low in the grass like rattlesnakes. For now, they all have a common enemy they must crush urgently, Yemi Osinbajo. The reason is simple. The longer he stays with Buhari, the more powerful and visible he becomes. His access to state apparatus and appurtenances of office will be a major advantage to his cause and a debilitating weapon against their interests. So, they have started the elimination process. Take out Osinbajo and let’s have a level playing field is what they all seem to be agreed upon. They are dancing ‘kpalongo’ to their own music, but it is Osinbajo who seems to be dictating the tune for now, much to their chagrin.

No one knows where Buhari belongs in all these groups. Will he allow them to terminally damage his Vice President and present him a weak replacement? Will he in good conscience believe the campaigns of calumny and hate and abandon a man who gave his government some credibility? Not that it really matters who becomes their candidate ultimately but will their ever be an end to this cycle of chicanery? The world is watching and waiting to see the climax of this war, with bated breath…

For now, it is all noise and fury, a bit like some Fuji music!

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 28TH SEPTEMBER.

YOU’RE IN THE REALM OF LIFE

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (John 5:24).

The curse of death is on everything in the earth, and that’s the reason everything in the earth depreciates. But when you’re born again, you’re translated from the realm of death into the realm of life.

This is why you must vehemently refuse sickness, because sickness is incipient death; gradual, progressive death. If sickness tries to attack your body, don’t accept it! Act on the Word. In your path, there’s no death; there’s no darkness; therefore, refuse to accommodate anything that’s of darkness. The Bible says, “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

What we read in our theme scripture were the words of Jesus. Later on, after He had ascended, and the New Testament Church started, the Apostle Paul reechoed the same truth. In Romans 8:1, he said, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Why is there no “death” or condemnation for those who don’t walk after the senses, but live in accordance with the Word? The answer is in the second verse: the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made them free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). Glory to God!

The world is under the curse of the law of sin and death, but you don’t live under that law. You live by the law of the Spirit of life, and in that realm, only life controls. Meditate on this truth and let it inundate your soul and reveal itself in your body.

CONFESSION

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from death, and the law of sin; I live and walk by the law of life, because I dwell in the realm of life. There’s no darkness or death in my path. Life is at work in every fibre of my being, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

28TH SEPTEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for the love and grace You’ve lavished upon me. Thank You for expressing Yourself to the world through me. Christ continually lives through me.

I am the effulgence of His glory, the express image of His person and my life is a manifestation of the praise and glory of God. I am not ordinary; I am a vital member of the family of God—a member of Christ’s body, of His flesh, and of His bones.

Therefore, I am invigorated with divine might and ability in my spirit for the supernatural. I am empowered to do the impossible, for greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Airport charges, taxes cost airlines 38 per cent revenue

Local airlines need level-playing field, fair competition to survive. PHOTO:Google

Airport charges, taxes cost airlines 38 per cent revenue

The multiple charges and taxes levied by airports in Nigeria and other African countries have gone up some notches, and now cost the carriers as much as 38 per cent of total earnings. The Director of African Airlines Association’s (AFRAA), Aaron Munetsi, who disclosed this yesterday, said despite the heavy cost of operations, the “poor air travel infrastructure” were still obstacles to passenger traffic and tourism development on the continent.

Recall that airlines in Nigeria had lately cried out over multiple charges in the industry, often under the guise of taxes and levies at airports nationwide. Besides the five per cent charge on every ticket bought by passengers, which goes to all five regulatory agencies, there are other 35 sundry charges on the operators.

They include the five per cent Cargo Sales Charge, five per cent Value Added Tax (VAT), Passenger Service Charge of N1000 per ticket on local route, Charter Sales Charge, Aircraft Inspection Fees, Simulator Inspection Fees, Landing Charges, Parking Charges and Terminal Navigational Charge. Others are En route Charge, Fuel Surcharge, Airport Space Rent, Electricity charges, Apron Pass, ODC, Registration Fee, Service Recovery Charge, Processing Fee, Avio Bridge, Aircraft Registration and Processing Fee.

The airlines also pay Toll Gate Fee, VIP Lounge, Trolley Service, Clearance Fee, Check-In Counter Charge,

Courier/Tarmac/Pre-Release charges, Import Charge (Dom), Export Charge (Dom), Import Royalty, Export Royalty, Ports Charge, Exports Charge, Transhipment, and Concession Fee.
Munetsi, at the aviation day in Lagos yesterday, said the plan of aviation authorities, who also own and control the airports, was to squeeze the airlines of every cent, and that explains why the airlines are always bleeding.“I can tell you that the residual value that stays with the airport has gone up from 21 to 38 per cent. The burden is so huge that the airlines would be lucky have anything left because everyone that can make money off the airlines is doing so, while the airlines are losing.

“African airlines have lost a total of $140 billion because of these charges from the airport, yet there is no commensurate value in infrastructure quality. For instance, the airport in Blantyre, Malawi, has been shutdown in the last five month because of the collapse in infrastructure. But airlines have been paying charges to the airport. What has happened to the money?”

Munetsi said the poor infrastructure is not peculiar to Malawi, but across the African States and underscores the perennial low air traffic despite the “asset” of 1.2 billion population in Africa. He observed that Africa, with a total of 62 airlines, 419 airports and 817 aircraft could only account for 88 million passenger traffic in 2018. The traffic represents just 2.2 per cent global air traffic according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).Compared to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States that does 184 million a year, Munetsi said the African traffic size is unacceptable, and the reason airlines should take their plight to their governments.

He added that besides airlines losing money due to unattractive airports, the situation is also hurting tourism, with only Morocco welcoming as much as 10 million tourists a year.

“Africa just needs to wake up because other countries will just continue to take advantage of us. These figures are shameful, because I have seen Islands and desert countries clearly doing better than us in Africa. It is a lot cheaper and faster to build airport than roads. An airport should be able to give airlines efficiency, capacity, time and comfort to operate. We are tired of hearing that airlines are not profitable. It is not their fault, but that of the government and the system,” he said.

The Chief Operations Officer (CEO), African World Airlines (AWA), Sean Mendis, however, said the airlines had become the leading profitable carrier in the region due to the favourable operating environment the Ghanaian government created and also the world-standard Kokota International airport.Mendis said that airline currently does a weekly 34 and 11 flights out of Lagos and Abuja, in that order.

BioNatrol Keto They are not like clothes that have a "one size fits all" category.   Japan to invest $10 billion in global LNG infrastructure projects

Japan to invest $10 billion in global LNG infrastructure projects

Japan and its private sector firms will invest $10 billion on liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects worldwide, the country’s industry minister said yesterday, in a strategy to boost the global LNG market and reinforce the security of energy supply.

The move, doubling a commitment by Japan two years ago to bolster energy supply chains, comes as the world’s biggest LNG buyer aims to reduce its reliance on energy from the Middle East as growing tensions in the region threaten the stability of global oil supply.

“On top of Japan’s commitment two years ago of investing or financing more than $10 billion in energy supply chains, we are making a fresh commitment of additional and collective $10 billion funding from both public and private sectors,” said Isshu Sugawara, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), speaking in Tokyo at the annual LNG Producer-Consumer Conference.

As a part of Japan’s effort to broaden use of the super-chilled fuel, the country also plans to train 500 experts in LNG technology, he said. In its 2017 pledge to bolster energy supply chains Tokyo already promised to train 500 experts in areas such as LNG reception technology and environmental regulations.

“By making these commitments to help develop the global LNG market, Japan will work hard to reinforce global energy security,” he said.
Japan’s previous funding commitment was made by former METI minister Hiroshige Seko at the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference in 2017.

That original $10 billion budget has been largely used up through spending or funding commitments to major projects such as LNG Canada, in which trading house Mitsubishi Corp (8058.T) has a stake, and Mozambique LNG project in which trader Mitsui & Co (8031.T) owns a stake, according to an official at the industry ministry.

The country has already trained over 400 experts since 2017, the METI official said.
