8 members of 1 family die in Texas church shooting, including pregnant mother

8 members of 1 family die in Texas church shooting, including pregnant mother and 3 of her children Here are the victims whose identities have been confirmed by ABC News:

Eight members of the extended Holcombe family were among the 26 dead.

Bryan Holcombe, an associate pastor for the church, was killed in the gunfire, his parents and Claryce Joe Holcombe told ABC News.

Karla Holcombe, Bryan Holcombe’s wife of about four decades, was killed, as well as Bryan and Karla Holcombe’s son, Marc Daniel Holcombe, 36.

Marc Daniel’s 1-year-old daughter, Noah Holcombe, was also killed.

Crystal Holcombe, the wife of John Holcombe, who is the son of Bryan and Karla, also died. Crystal Holcombe was pregnant, and three of her children, Emily, Megan and Greg, died as well.

Crystal Holcombe is survived by her husband and two of her children.

Joann Ward and her two daughters, Brooke Ward and Emily Garza, are among the dead, Joann Ward's sister-in-law, Leslie, told ABC News.

Joann Ward is survived by her husband, Chris, and 5-year-old son Ryland, who was shot several times and is in the hospital today, family said.

Richard Rodriguez and his wife, Therese Rodriguez, were among the deceased, according to Regina Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez's daughter.

Annabelle Renee Pomeroy, 14, was one of the individuals slain at the house of worship, according to her father, Frank Pomeroy, who is a pastor at the church.

Annabelle “was one very beautiful, special child,” Pomeroy told ABC News by phone.

Pomeroy said he was in Oklahoma during the shooting, a rare weekend that he wasn't at the church.

The pastor's wife, Sherry Pomeroy, said at this morning's news conference, "We lost more than Annabelle yesterday, and one thing that gives me a sliver of encouragement is the fact that Belle was surrounded yesterday by her church family that she loved fiercely."

The church family was very close, Sherry Pomeroy said.

"We ate together, we laughed together, we cried together, and we worshiped together. Now most of our church family is gone. Our building is probably beyond repair," she said. "As senseless as this tragedy was our sweet Belle would not have been able to deal with losing so much family yesterday. Please don’t forget Sutherland Springs."

BVN: Scammers Go On The Rampage With Fake Text Messages
User Avatar Forum: Politics

As Deposit Money Banks in the country continue to lobby the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation to prevail on the Federal Government to back down on the plan to seize monies in the bank accounts of customers without the Bank Verification Number, scammers have capitalised on the situation to fleece unsuspecting bank customers.
Investigations show that bank names are being cloned to appear as GSM numbers, through which the scammers send text messages to customers.
The text messages usually come through the same phone numbers with which customers receive alerts on their accounts when sent by their banks.
One of such messages sent to our correspondent Monday morning reads: “Dear customer, as regard to cashless policy, your account, ATM has been locked due to change in date of birth. To activate, call customer care 08118111105 to rectify.”
When our correspondent called the phone number — 08118111105 — that accompanied the text message, a man who identified himself as Femi Johnson and who claimed to work in the headquarters of a first generation bank picked it.
He demanded to know the content of the text message, and when told, asked to know where the caller resides.
He hung up on our correspondent when the latter insisted that he should check the account details she maintains with the bank if, truly, Johnson was representing the bank.
It may be recalled that banks maintain that they will never ask for account details from customers, whether through phone calls, email, or text messages.
Again, customers who maintain accounts with banks are encouraged to contact the banks directly if they have issues to clarify concerning their money or bank account.

26 Dead Nigerian Women Found In Spanish Warship..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-06-2017, 10:48 PM - No Replies

Italian prosecutors have commenced investigations into the deaths of 26 Nigerian women whose bodies were recovered at sea, BBC reported on Monday.
The victims, who are mostly teenagers, aged 14-18, are believed to have been sexually abused and murdered as they attempted to cross the Mediterranean.
Following several rescues, their bodies were discovered in a Spanish warship, Cantabria, carrying 375 migrants and the dead women; 23 of whom women had been on a rubber boat with 64 other people.
Italian media reported that the women’s bodies were being kept in a refrigerated section of the warship. Most of the 375 survivors brought to Salerno were sub-Saharan Africans from Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, The Gambia and Sudan.
Among the 375 survivors were 90 women, eight of them pregnant, 52 children and some Libyan men and women on board.
People-smuggling gangs charge each migrant about $6,000 (£4,578) to get to Italy, $4,000 of which is for the trans-Saharan journey to Libya and many migrants have reported violence, including torture and sexual abuse, by the gangs.
Five migrants are being questioned in the southern port of Salerno.
Thousands of Nigerians travel through the desert to Libya from where they try to cross the Mediterranean to Italy seeking better life.
Hundreds of such Nigerians, who could not make the crossing, end up getting trapped in Libya with many of them eventually returning to Nigeria with the help of the International Organisation for Migration.

Bayo Abdulrahman and Shadiat Obafemi, on Monday, appeared in a Federal High Court in Lagos, for allegedly trafficking 100 grammes and 1.1kg of hemp at the Kirikiri Maximum prison, Lagos.

They were arraigned on two separate charges of one count charge each, bordering on drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

hemp
Abdulrahman, male, 33, and Obafemi, female, 26, however, pleaded guilty to the charges after the charges were read to them.

After their pleas, the prosecutor, Mr. Jeremiah Aernan, reviewed the facts of the case before the court by tendering written statements of the accused.

Other items he tendered were; test analysis forms, request for scientific aid forms, laboratory reports, as well as the bulk of exhibits and urged the court to admit the documents in evidence.

The judge, Justice Ayokunle Faji, consequently, admitted the documents as exhibits and adjourned the case to Nov. 8 for sentencing.

In the charges, the duo were said to have been apprehended on June 18, at the Kirikiri Maximum prisons with volumes of substance suspected to be cannabis.

The prosecuor said the accused intended to sell the substance to prison inmates.

He said the Hemp was a restricted narcotic similar to Cocaine and Heroin LSD.

According to it, hemp has been prohibited by the provisions of Sections 11 © of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.

On Nov. 3, the court sentenced Patrick Amadi to 24 months imprisonment for sneaking Hemp into the Kirikiri prisons to sell to inmates.

The two accused arraigned on Monday, brings the number of those arraigned in less than a week for similar offence to three.

The accused will know their fate on Nov. 8.

Michael Emenalo resigns from position as Chelsea's technical director
User Avatar Forum: Sports World
Posted by: trustangel - 11-06-2017, 07:40 PM - No Replies

Michael Emenalo has resigned from his position as Chelsea technical director, the club has confirmed.

The 52-year-old, one of owner Roman Abramovich's most trusted advisors, has left Chelsea after 10 years working across the scouting and technical departments amid reports of tensions between head coach Antonio Conte and the club's hierarchy.

In a statement on Chelsea's official website, Emenalo said: "This has been a very difficult decision to make, but one I believe is right for both myself and my family, and the club.

"I have had the privilege to work alongside some of the most talented people in the world of sport over the past 10 years, and I will depart incredibly proud of the achievements we have made. I wish Chelsea every success and look forward to following the club's future triumphs from afar."Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with Emenalo in attendance, but the main talking point from the match was Conte's bold decision to drop David Luiz -- an Abramovich favourite and key member of last season's Premier League title-winning team -- from his match day squad.

After the match Conte insisted leaving out Luiz was a "tactical decision," but numerous reports have suggested the Brazilian's omission followed a clash with his head coach during the inquest into Chelsea's humiliating 3-0 away defeat against Roma in the Champions League.

Conte's own future has been the subject of intense speculation since last summer amid reports that the Italian had grown frustrated with the inaccessibility of Abramovich and Chelsea's recruitment policy, spearheaded by chief executive Marina Granovskaia and Emenalo.

Of Emenalo's departure, Conte said: "I am very sorry to see Michael leave Chelsea, and I would like to thank him for all his help and support since I arrived at this club. I have enjoyed working with him very much, we celebrated a Premier League title together in May, and I wish him the very best for the future."Granovskaia added: "We will now be reviewing our management structure, and Michael will be a part of that process as we look ahead."

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said: "It is with regret that the owner and board of directors accepted Michael's resignation this week. He has had a tremendous impact on the club over the past 10 years and this is evident in everything we have achieved.

"We are sorry to see him go but understand his desire to move on and explore new challenges."Chelsea saw their bid for Romelu Lukaku hijacked by United and also failed to secure priority Conte targets Leonardo Bonucci and Alex Sandro, whom Juventus refused to sell. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley also declined moves to Stamford Bridge in the frantic final few days of the transfer window.

Conte, having elected to sign an improved rather than extended contract at Chelsea in the summer, has made numerous pointed references to the shortage of established players in his squad over the past few weeks as injuries to N'Golo Kante, Victor Moses and Danny Drinkwater have added to their difficulties.

Abramovich visited Cobham after Chelsea's 1-0 win over Bournemouth last month to observe training and speak to Conte, but he and Granovskaia remain an infrequent presence at the training ground, with the latter working mainly from Stamford Bridge.

It remains to be seen how the departure of Emenalo -- whose office was situated opposite to Conte's at Cobham -- will affect Chelsea's decision-making structure, or who will be appointed to replace him as technical director.

Emenalo has been an unpopular figure among Chelsea supporters since joining the club as head of opposition scouting in October 2007. His elevation to assistant first-team coach under Carlo Ancelotti came at the expense of Ray Wilkins, a club legend whose departure in many eyes undermined the Italian. In July 2011 he was promoted to the role of technical director, overseeing Chelsea's scouting network and academy programme as well as the club's controversial but lucrative mass loan system.

While widely criticised, he also presided over the signings of key players such as Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thibaut Courtois and N'Golo Kante, as well as a Chelsea academy that has emerged as a dominant force in English and European youth football.

Emenalo will be best remembered by many Chelsea fans for the rare interview he granted to the club's in-house TV channel immediately following Jose Mourinho's departure in December 2015, in which he revealed that "palpable discord" had developed between the manager and his players.

  160 Reps Rejects official cars

Want cash instead

Quote:From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja

About 160 members of the House of Representatives have rejected its leadership’s offer to provide them with official cars.

Daily Sun gathered that the members want cash instead.

The Green Chamber is spending about N6.1 billion on procurement of 360 units Peugeot 508 for members, at a unit price of N17 million.

The cars have been coming in trickles, since December 2015, when the plans to procure them was agreed.

As at August 2017, about 200 units had been procured and distributed to members.
But, a source told Daily Sun yesterday, that members who were yet to get their vehicles are now mounting pressure on the House leadership to give them the monetary value of the cars.

The demand for monetisation of the cars, it was gathered, is against the backdrop of the cash crunch affecting the federal legislature.

Besides, the source said “some of the legislators believe there is no need for the cars as they have spent more than half of their tenure.”

A member, who declined to be named, confirmed the development, and noted that “majority of those yet to get their official cars prefer to be given cash, in lieu of the cars.”

He, however, said the legislators are demanding monetisation of the cars, because “they do’t like Peugeot 508, and not for any other reason.”

The lawmaker, who confirmed that he has gotten his own vehicles, said members had, from the outset, expressed reservations about the car.

He noted that many had expressed preference for Toyota Camry or Prado jeep, and argued that giving cash, in lieu of the cars, would enable them buy cars of their choice.

“Some of them wanted Camry. Some wanted Prado. If they cannot buy them what they want, what is wrong in giving them money to buy. The most important thing is for them to buy.

“ State assembly members are using Prado. Councillors are using Camry. What is the big deal about Peugeot 508? What is Peugeot 508?

“It is an embarrasment for anyone to want to make an issue out of this. Don’t you see the convoy of ministers when they come to the National Assembly?

“If you go to the (Presidential) Villa, they ride Mercedez Benz. There are three tiers of government. They should not be treating us as if we are not part of this government,” the lawmaker stated.

When Daily Sun sought the reaction of the Chairman of the House Services Committee, Nasiru Baballe Ila, whose committee is charge of procuring the cars, he replied in a text message thus; “get in touch with (Abdulrasaq) Namdas, he is the spokesman of the House.”

However, efforts to speak with the Chairman of the Committee on Media, Abdulrasaq Namdas was unsuccessful as his mobile telephone was switched off, as at yesterday night.

Also, Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Hassan Turaki, did not respond to any enquiry on the issue.

Soldier Shoot SS1 student for Refusing sexual Advances

As shared by activist Friday Bako....

'Rep ID Gyang was at the Plateau Specialist Hospital at 8:00am on Saturday 4/11/17 to visit and sympathize with victims of gunshots including Simi Danladi, a 17 year old SS1 student of GSS Sopp in Riyom LGA. She was shot on the thigh at  close range by one of soldiers manning the checkpoint at Sopp because she allegedly refused his lustful advances.

On the 19th of October this year during a protest by the community against the soldiers for causing the dead of two boys, this particular soldier singled out Simi and shot her. He wanted to finish her off with another shot but was stopped by a fellow soldier who was more sympathetic. He proceeded to kick her several times in the face and body.

Eventually Simi and two others, Danjuma Kaze and his son Irimiya who were shot on the leg and jaw respectively are currently receiving medical attention at the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos.

Please pray for their recovery'

vegetable stew with smoked fish, served with boiled rice

INGREDIENTS FOR MY VEGETABLE STEW

  • Flutted pumpkin (Ugu)
  • water leaf
  • Smoked cat fish
  • Knorr cubes
  • palm oil
  • onion
  • crayfish
  • pepper
  • salt
  • water
STEPS TO COOKING THIS GREEN VEGETABLE STEW
I stir fried some chopped onion, crayfish and ground fresh peppers in hot palm oil.
The washed smoked fish is added, then knorr cubes and salt, with a little water added and allowed to simmer until the fish is a bit tender.
Checked for salt and added the vegetables, both water leaf and ugu at once, then continued to stir until the veggies look a bit different from when they were just added.
Turned off the heat and served with  boiled rice.
The meal is delicious, a bit crunchy, healthy and easily digested.
Variety is the spice of life, so I refuse to be tied down by jollof rice, fried rice or even rice and tomato stew.
You can serve this vegetable stew with salted boiled yam, boiled potatoes, boiled unripe plantain or even use it with eba. The ingredients can also vary depending on what you have and how you want your veggies stew.

Self-proclaimed messiah Jesu Oyingbo’s son arrested for defiling 14-yr-old niece of his girlfriend

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested, Adebola Odumosu, one of the sons of late self-proclaimed messiah, Jesu Oyingbo, for reportedly defiling a teenager. Adebola is currently being held at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, after he reportedly leaked the information of the crime he committed some years ago to a U.K-based blogger, to spite his estranged lover, Folashade Olatunji, a business rival to the woman he leaked the information to.

It was gathered that Adebola who committed the crime at Alakuko, reportedly procured at least two abortions for the teenager before his lover’s family knew, and they swept it under the carpet to save the teenager from stigmatization.
The Nation reports that Adebola who resorted to blackmailing Folashade and extorting her after their relationship ended over what he did,  kidnapped his ex-lover’s 87-year-old grandmother and held her hostage at a flat rented by Folashade in Lagos and threatened to keep her locked up unless certain amount of money was paid.
However his trouble trouble started after he went further to leak the rape story to a UK-based online medium whose owner is a rival to Folashade. The blackmail made Folashade to write a petition to the Police Command, who tracked and arrested the suspect who has already confessed to having sex with the teenager who went through abortions for him.
Police spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent (ASP) said the suspect would be charged to court.

Pope Francis requests for Catholic priests to be given right to get married
[Image: pope-482x410.jpg]
Though a small number of Roman Catholic priests already exist including previously married Anglican vicars who have joined the church, Pope Francis has requested that Catholic priests be given the right to get married, a request which also applies to priests in Brazil, and is said to be on the agenda for an upcoming synod (church council) in the Amazon region.
The pontiff took the decision to put a partial lifting of priestly celibacy up for discussion and a possible vote by Brazilian bishops following a request made by Cardinal Claudio Hummes, the president of the Episcopal Commission for the Amazon, Il Messaggero newspaper quoted the sources saying.
Cardinal Hummes reportedly asked Francis to consider ordaining so-called viri probati, married men of great faith, capable of ministering spiritually to the many remote communities in the Amazon where there is a shortage of priests, and evangelical Christians and pagan sects are displacing Catholicism. He has also suggested that the bishops attending the synod in 2019 on the Amazon, now being prepared in Rome, should consider ordaining women deacons as priests.
In an interview with Germany’s Die Zeit newspaper, the pontiff said “We must consider if viri probati is a possibility. Then we must determine what tasks they can perform, for example, in remote communities,” he said.
In the Amazon region, for instance, there is just one priest for every 10,000 Catholics.

13-year-old Hauwa Dadi, daughter of a former Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, who was abducted and allegedly kept at the palace of the Emir of Gashua for ‘Islamic evangelism’ through forced marriage, regained her freedom on Sunday, four days after she was allegedly abducted.
The SS1 student of Brighter Academy Secondary School, Gashua, Yobe State, freedom from the palace of the Emir, Alhaji Abubakar Suleman, came after a civil rights organization, Stefanos Foundation, through it Executive Director of SF, Mark Lipdo, blew the lid off the alleged plot to force the teenager into marriage.

It was gathered that the Christian community and Evangelical Church Winning All in the Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State had been thrown into confusion, following the abduction of the teenager. Gashua Police Area Commander, Joseph Aloefuna who confirmed the abduction story told Punch correspondent;

Quote:“There was this boy who was said to have insisted on marrying the girl (Hauwa). They are in the same school. The matter was reported to the school management and the boy was punished and warned to stop harassing the girl.
Later, the girl was abducted and the boy was the prime suspect. The boy was arrested but claimed that the girl ran to the Emir’s palace because she wanted to convert to Islam.
The Emir took her to the Chief Imam; the Chief Imam said the girl was scared but he was asked to take her to the welfare officials instead of keeping her in his custody. We took the statement of everybody concerned. The Chief Imam said there was going to be a meeting on the matter.”

  HOW TO PREPARE OJOJO

How To Prepare Ojojo
[Image: step6-ojojo+with+akara.jpg]
Ojojo with akara

It's Rubynnia again and this time around, I want to show you how I prepared my Ojojo.
Ojojo is made from grated water yam. Water yam is ideal for this
delicacy because it draws after being grated unlike other yam species.
So I will explain in details, one step at a time.
STEP 1: PEELING; GRATING TIME
I cut yam tuber into desired slices, peel the skin off and grate. For those who don't like grating, I suggest you cut the yam slices into tiny pieces and blend with a blender to save you the stress of grating.
STEP 2: CONDIMENTS ADDITION
I added chopped pepper and onions to spice my ojojo, not forgetting salt to taste.
STEP 3: FRYING
For frying ojojo, you can either use your hand or spoon depending on your preference. I prefer using my hand since the pureed yam is sticky like dough for making puff puff.
STEP 4: ADJUSTMENT & TURNING
Once the balls turn light yellow, do turn it over so the other side can cook.
STEP 5: SCOOPING, COOLING & DRAINING
Remove the balls from oil when it's done. Ojojo soaks a lot of oil, so I would advise you press the balls to drain the excess oil, then leave to cool.
STEP 6: READY TO EAT!
Ojojo can be eaten alone as snack, with garri(yam flakes), pap or with any food of your choice

Acute scarcity of snake antivenom drugs; 250 Nigerians die in Plateau and Gombe

An acute scarcity of snake anti-venom drugs in Nigeria, has left 250 victims of snake bite in the last 3 weeks in Plateau and Gombe States dead.
A NAN correspondent who visited three snake treatment centres – General Hospital, Kaltungo, Ali Mega Pharmacy, Gombe and Comprehensive Medical Centre, Zamko, Plateau State, was told that snake anti-venom drugs – Echitab Plus ICP polyvalent and Echitab G monovalent – had not been supplied to the country since August, throwing the treatment centres into crisis after the

last vials were used up in the first week of October.

“We receive an average of 50 victims every day. Some arrive here in very critical conditions and we just have to watch them die because we are helpless,” Abubakar Abdullahi Aliyu, Managing Director, Aliyu Mega Pharmacy, said in Gombe.

Aliyu, who said snake bites are common during the harvest season, disclosed that the only available drug – Indian anti-venom – was not effective in the treatment of the bites from carpet vipers, the commonest poisonous snakes in the country.

“An average of six deaths are recorded daily. If you go to the snake treatment centre at the Kaltungo General Hospital, you will pity the victims; the lucky ones among them get supportive treatment, while many are left to fate since the drugs are not available.

“Between August and October, we received 750 victims. We were given 700 vials of the anti-venom on August 31, but we exhausted them before October. Many people are just dying. It is a major crisis,” he stated.

“We have tried the Indian anti-venom, but it does not elicit much response. Sometimes, we give six vials and more to a patient, but the effect will be minimal. If we had Echitab drugs, one dose is enough to cure a patient,” he said.

At the Snake Treatment Centre in Kaltungo General Hospital, Gombe State, helpless patients were spotted gasping for breath while the medics watched helplessly.

Dr. Abubakar Ballah, the Snakebite Treatment Officer,  said that the situation was “sad and scary”.

“We have a serious crisis here. In the last one week, 139 patients were admitted with 77 absconding when we appeared helpless, owing to the non-availability of the anti-snake venom drug.

“Some were unconscious when they were brought here. Sometimes, it is corpses that are brought to us.

“In the last few days, we have recorded 21 deaths. The figure is more because many of those that absconded were in bad shape; many others did not even bother to come here because of the fore-knowledge of lack of anti-venom in the centre.

“The last drug was used on October 13. We try to give vitamin K to the victims to enhance blood clotting in the absence of anti-venom because bites from the viper snakes cause bleeding which is difficult to control without anti-venom.

“It is a critical period, but we are helpless. This is why we call on the government to work with the Echitab Study Group to provide a lasting solution to this menace.

“Already, some criminals are faking the drug and selling it at N43,000 per vial, contrary to the original anti-snake venom sold by the Echitab Study Group at the cost of between N13,500 to N30,000.

Dr. Titus Dajel, the Medical Superintendent of Comprehensive Medical Centre, Zamko said;

“There are many victims, but we cannot help because there is no anti-snake venom available now. We have had more than 200 cases in the last one month, with many of them losing their lives.’

“The most effective drug is the Echitab anti-venom which is produced using the venom of snakes from Nigeria.

“What the herbalists are doing is trial and error. Most victims bleed in the brain because the venom is vicious; traditional healers cannot tackle that because they concentrate on healing the wound.

“It is the peak period of snake bites; farmers go to the bush to harvest crops and get attacked by snakes who are out of their holes because of the hot temperature.

“Some snakes go under heaps of rice gathered together preparatory for thrashing, in search of shelter from the scorching sun. Such snakes pounce on farmers when they open the heaps to start thrashing.
“Some snakes also move in groups in search of rats at yam farms where they clash with farmers harvesting the produce,” he said.

The internet reacted with amusement today when a picture emerged appearing to show the inside of a dog’s ear that struck a remarkable resemblance to President Donald Trump.
The pooch, a two-year-old Beagle named Chief, has achieved internet fame after the image surfaced on social media.
The picture was posted to Twitter by @doddsy1975 with the message: ‘Lass I know on Facebook has just discovered @realDonaldTrump in her dogs ear.’
The picture immediately went viral and so far has 13,000 retweets and 32,000 likes.
Twitter users were quick to share their amusement, with one saying: ‘This makes me feel weird.’
The dog’s owner was revealed as Jade Robinson.
She said: ‘If it makes you feel any better this is my pooch who’s ears it is and he’s called Chief and is adorable!’
According to Dailymail, this is not the first time the president’s face has been spotted in unusual places. To mark Halloween last week, pictures emerged of pumpkins that looked like Trump.
And in July, drug dealers produced ecstasy tablets that bore a resemblance to the 45th president of the United States.
The real Donald Trump has been busy in Japan where he is on the first leg of his marathon tour of East Asia.

Please help me! I lied to my fiance that I am a virgin, my wedding is in December’ – Nigerian lady cries out
A Nigerian lady, Ceedars Queen took to a public forum to ask for advise after she lied to her fiance that she was a virgin and right now her wedding preparations has been done and is to hold in December. She wrote;
When I was 15, a man in our neighbourhood had sex with me. I was too confused and embarrassed to tell anyone about it. I didn’t get pregnant. While growing up, I still remembered the incident and kept away from dating through out my university days.

I met my fiancé in 2014. Somehow I told him I was still a virgin when we were still getting to know ourselves. He asked me to marry him soon after. It seemed as if the main reason he wanted marriage was because he felt I was a decent girl and I didn’t want him to find out after our wedding. I did some stuffs to my vagina and we had sex. It was like the whole process of deflowering again. He seemed satisfied.

The issue is that I feel scared starting my marriage on a lie. Standing before the priest when there’s a secret between us. We’ve done the necessary intro. I don’t know what to think anymore. Should I let him continue believing he’s the only man I’ve been with?

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 6TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ LIVING IN CHRIST✨

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7).

The Complete Jewish Bible translation of our opening text says, “If you remain united with me, and my words with you, then ask whatever you want, and it will happen for you.” This is so powerful.

What the Lord Jesus is saying is that if you abide or stay in Him, and His words dwell in you, whatever demand you make of anything that you like, prefer or desire, shall happen for you. He didn’t say God will do it, or that He (Jesus) will do it. This isn’t prayer; the verses on prayer are different. This one is about living in Christ, and His words dwelling in you—knowing your rights and authority in Christ, and learning to put that authority to work.

It’s amazing what God has made possible for us in Christ Jesus! You can say, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I’m going to walk in health continually; I’ll never be sick in my life,” and it shall be so. If you had problems with your body; maybe a tumour or cancerous growth in your body and you say, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command this cancer to die and pass out of my body”; if you say that, the Master says it’ll come to pass; it’ll happen.

It’s important to understand this and practise it in your life. The Word of God is for doing, not just for you to hear. You hear it and you do it. That’s how to walk in the glory of God. Remember the key: abide in Him and let His Words abide in you.

Have the Word of God in you in abundance, so that in every situation, in every crisis of life, in all circumstances, you’ll respond according to the Word, and not according to your senses. Words that you don’t know can’t abide in you. That’s why you must study the Scriptures. Get the Word into your system. The Bible says, “Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness…” (Colossians 3:16 AMPC).

CONFESSION
I’m joined to the Lord, and one spirit with Him. I manifest Christ to my world, because I’m His epistle, written and read of men. I take advantage of the authority in Christ, declaring that the counsel of the Lord prevails in my life, and in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

BVN FORFEITURE ORDER: Stealing From The Dead
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-06-2017, 12:07 AM - No Replies

•Over N100bn trapped in dead people’s account
•Next-of-kin: Our late father’s gratuity, savings affected
•’I’m yet to access our joint account since my wife died in 2012’
•Presidency: Those without BVN have themselves to blame
•Lawyer: It’s illegal
By Paul Ogbuokiri
Relations of dead bank account owners not linked to Bank Verification Number (BVN) have expressed concerns over the Federal Government’s order forfeit of the monies in such accounts.
Their lamentation came on the heels of the expiration, on Friday, of the 14-day interim forfeiture order which had been upheld by an Abuja High Court presided by Justice Dimgba Igwe recently.
The concerned relations of reopen dead account holders told Sunday Telegraph that they were already in a dilemma not knowing how they can get on with life without being able to access the monies their dead bread winners left in various bank accounts for them. One of their frustrations according to some next-of-kins who spoke to our correspondent is the stringent requirements demanded by various banks before any next-of-kin can access the funds of their late bread winner.
Our correspondent reliably learnt that many dependants of departed account holders have been put through excruciating experiences in their bids to obtain letters of administration to enable them access their bread winners’ account.
The painful process has also forced the affected relations to either abandon the pursuit of the letter of administration or slow it down. Sunday Telegraph investigation revealed that the situation has left huge amount of monies in such accounts running into N100 billion across the 19 commercial banks in Nigeria, in 2013. The cash now trapped in dead peoples’ accounts is said to be also on the increase.
However, lawyer and author of banking Law and Mortgages in Nigeria, Pat Anyadubalu, has described the forfeiture order as a very sad development pointing out that the affected next-of-kins would forfeit all the money in the affected accounts to the Federal Government if that court order is not vacated as soon as possible.
It would be recalled that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, had sought an interim order directing all the commercial banks to disclose/declare all individual and corporate accounts in their custody not covered by the BVN. The court, on October 18, granted the order, giving 14 days after which the fund in the accounts becomes legally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
But some next-of-kins of dead bank account owners not linked to BVN, who spoke to Sunday Telegraph from different parts of the country, told our correspondent, that for more than two years, they have been trying to meet stipulated bank requirements, to enable them access the funds their dead breadwinners left in their accounts.
But due to several hurdles their efforts had not been successful. Some of them, however, said that issues of claims and counter claims in their families also made it difficult for the affected relations to secure relevant Letters of Administration required by the banks.
But in the case of Bola Adegoroye, a widow whose husband died in year 2012 without living a Will: “That is not the problem. The problem is that in some of his documents, he filled my name as the next-of-kin and in some others, our first son. So after over two years of stress, the bank has not paid us.
And to make matter worse, my husband’s company paid his benefits into that account. I have been borrowing money to keep the children in school in the hope that whenever, we are able to sort out issues with the bank, I will settle my creditors.
Now they are talking of forfeiture. The money in that account is my late husband’s savings. If the money is seized by government over this BVN issue as they are threatening, I will have no alternative than to withdraw the children from school. But there will be other problems of repaying the monies I have so far borrowed to take care of my five children,” she lamented.
Relating his own predicament, a widower who is also a trader in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nze Ibe Onuchia, who operated a joint account with his late wife said: “I was asked to get Death Certificate, publish her obituary in a national daily. After I had done that, I was asked to get Letter of Administration from the court. I have been on the matter for over two years. At a time, I had to suspend action on it because it was costing me money and the time to concentrate on providing for our children.
“Since my wife’s death, I have not been able to collect any money from that account where all out money was before her death.
It is just by the grace of God that we have been surviving since then. Now we heard this news that government wants to seize it because of BVN. Who will do the BVN? Me or my late wife?” He queried.
“What government should do in line with its anti-corruption war, is to focus on the accounts of politicians and public servants who have not done BVN or even Yahoo Yahoo boys, not putting eyes in poor people’s monies in the bank. So is it now an offence to keep your hard earned money in the bank? I regret putting the money there.
“This BVN they are talking about now, why didn’t they talk about it when we were putting our money there? Why are they trying to steal our money in the name of BVN? This is worse than what the Gowon administration did to Biafran people who had their monies in the banks after the civil war. They seized their money and gave them 20 pounds,” he added.
The story of Abuja based Isa Rahman, whose sister and a single parent died in 2013, leaving behind two children and over N1, 000,000 in her bank account, is not different. “My late sister had N1, 000,000 in her account when she died in 2013. We were asked by the bank to produce Letter of Administration, which we have managed to get, but the bank said the name of her estranged husband was in our late sister’s initial documents with the bank.
“The man has agreed to do what is required of him so that the bank can release the money to us to take care of their children.
However, he said that would be when he returns home. He is currently in Germany.
“We are confused now. Does the court order imply that government will take the money my late sister saved for her children? This is demonic,” he asked.
When Sunday Telegraph approached some banks officials for comment, the bankers said it’s a regulatory requirement that next-of-kin must produce Letter of administration.
“It is not the banks’ fault that the next-of-kin should go through this stress. The next-of-kin that customers fill in the form when opening an account does not guarantee the person access to the customer’s account. It is only an indication that the person whose name appears as next-of-kin can come openly to begin the process of having access to the customer’s account. And that process is to produce a will and letter of administration as demanded by law,” one banker said.
But speaking during a recent Channels Television popular programme, Sunday Politics, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, Okoi Obono-Obla, insisted that the President Buhari-led administration would be justified should the funds in the accounts be taken over by the Federal Government. According to Obono-Obla, who also the Chairman, Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, the number of accounts yet to be linked remains alarming.
“From Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN’s) statistics, 46 million accounts are yet to be linked with BVN numbers after three years,” he said, stressing however, that he doesn’t know how much money the accounts hold.
He said those who have not linked their accounts to BVN had violated a CBN policy and should have themselves to blame.
“Anyone who has not complied with that directive, it means that his account is fraudulent and so whatever is there should go to the government,” he added.
According to the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), 52 million bank accounts had been linked to their BVNs as of February this year. The total number of bank accounts in the country was estimated at 70 million in 2016.
When contacted, the Central Bank of Nigeria chose not to comment on the issue. But a director of the bank said he would not blame the banks if they chose to challenge the court order.
Meanwhile, human rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa described as illegal, the order granting the forfeiture of funds in accounts without BVNs to the Federal Government.
Citing Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution and Article 7 of the African Charter, Adegboruwa said it was not proper to determine the rights of parties in their absence. He said the BVN was a policy decision and not “backed by law.” The lawyer also faulted the “bindingness” of the order on millions of bank customers who he said were not directly parties to the suit.
He lamented that the quest to get revenue for the government should not be to the detriment of the constitutional and fundamental rights of the citizens.
“I am very well concerned about how we deploy interim orders for permanent purposes, such as to forfeit valuable assets without any or fair hearing from the person(s) concerned,” the statement read.
“I think it is improper to obtain interim orders to freeze the bank accounts of estates that are in dispute between the beneficiaries, of estates of deceased persons that are still being contested, of profits of companies that are still subject to litigation or other disputes, just to mention a few examples of the arbitrariness of these orders.
“There is nothing in Section 3 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 that makes BVN a condition precedent for operating a bank account in Nigeria; nothing at all. What the law requires is verifiable identity of the customer, such as name, address, photographs, identity cards, etc.
“BVN is a policy decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a court of law should not base its orders on executive policies that are not backed by law.
“I get truly worried with the way we adopt ex parte applications to determine very serious and weighty issues of law.
“The other point is the bindingness of an ex parte order upon the whole world and upon millions of bank customers in Nigeria, who are not directly parties to the suit.
“How proper is it for a court to seek to determine the rights of parties in their absence, in view of the clear provisions of Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution and Article 7 of the African Charter?
“Why this desperation, if one may ask? I support that money suspected to be proceeds of crime should be traced, isolated and forfeited if the owner cannot successfully account for it.
“But to proceed to seek to forfeit all monies in all banks meant for all customers in Nigeria on the grounds of absence of BVN is manifestly illegal.
“I therefore humbly urge the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation to review this case with a view to tempering the tenor of these rather outlandish orders.
“The quest to scoop revenue for government should not be to the detriment of the constitutional and fundamental rights of the citizens. Which is why I have been praying that these orders are not real, but rather one of the usual social media gimmicks,” he said.

"President Buhari's Appointments Not Lopsided" - Femi Adesina
User Avatar Forum: Politics

The Presidency on Saturday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari’ s appointments are not lopsided in favour of the North as suggested by a recent media report.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina , stated this in a statement made available to journalists . The media report had claimed that 81 of Buhari’ s appointments are from the North . But Adesina described the report as a mischievous attempt to mislead the public and portray the Buhari administration in bad light.
He said the writer unilaterally selected 100 appointees to drive home the distraction presented as “facts ”. “To claim , suggest or attempt to insinuate that the President’ s appointments are tilted in favour of a section of the country is simply untrue and certainly uncharitable, ” Adesina said .
The presidential spokesman insisted that it is false for anyone to say that Buhari’ s appointments are lopsided. He added , “From all records , majority of the President’ s appointees across different portfolios are not from the North , as the publication erroneously alleged.
“If the publication did not have ulterior motives , a simple enquiry from official sources in the Presidency would have prevented this unwarranted public disinformation .
“It must be stated clearly that , despite the distractions and biased reportage of this article, President Muhammadu Buhari remains committed to serving all Nigerians, no matter the tribe , ethnicity or region, and he is also determined to ensure that Nigeria remains strong and united .
“He has , and will continue to keep faith with one Nigeria and has shown this with the administration ’s diverse projects in different parts of the country ’ s geopolitical zones .

Buhari’s Appointments: Presidency’s List Inaccurate; Several Names Omitted
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-05-2017, 10:46 PM - No Replies

Posted by: Kemi Busari,
The Presidency on Saturday released what it called a ‘full list’ of all the appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari since he assumed office on May 29, 2015.
However, the 159-member list contains several errors and omissions, an ongoing review by PREMIUM TIMES has shown.
At least 29 names of heads of agencies or parastatals were missing on the list while data provided for another five were incorrect.
The presidency had been challenged by a publication by BusinessDay which indicated that 81 of Mr. Buhari’s appointments are either from the North-east, North-west or North Central.
In apparent response to that report as well as several similar ones, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released the list of 159 appointees on Saturday.
The BusinessDay report that 81 of the president’s 100 political appointees are northerners is “misleading”, Mr. Adesina, said in the statement. “To claim, suggest or attempt to insinuate that the President’s appointments are tilted in favour of a section of the country is simply untrue and certainly uncharitable.”
Mr. Adesina then provided a graphical illustration of different states and the number of top appointees from the respective states.
The graph shows that Ogun, a South-western state has the highest number of appointments with 21, followed by Imo, a South-eastern state; and Kano, a North-western state which both have 15 each. Edo, a South-south state, and the president’s home state of Katsina both have 14 appointees each.
Mr. Adesina’s 159-name list indicated that the South-west has the highest number of appointments at 42, followed by North-west, 30, and North-east, 24. South-east, North-central and South-south have 22, 21 and 20 respectively.
However, a closer look at the list provided by Mr. Adesina show several omissions and errors.
Below are some of these omissions spotted by PREMIUM TIMES:
FRCN, NTA DGs missing
The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Mansur Liman, who is from Mr. Buhari’s hometown of Daura is omitted from the list.
Also omitted is Yakubu Ibn Muhammed, from Bauchi State, who was appointed as the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority.
Ismael Ahmed missing
The Senior Special Assistant, SSA to the President on Social Investment Programmes, Ismael Ahmed, who was appointed by the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, while Mr. President was out of the country, is also missing on the list. Mr. Ahmed is from Kano, North-west.
It is not clear if this omission was deliberate as the announcement was done by Mr. Osinbajo.
Other SAs, SSAs missing
Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, SSA Policy Research and Monitoring from Adamawa State; Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant on Digital and New Media; Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant on Social Media; and Shaban Sharada, Personal Assistant on Broadcast Media (Radio) are all missing on the presidency’s ‘full list.’
Also missing are Nasir Saidu Adhama, Special Assistant on Youths & Students Affairs; Abdulrahman Bappa Yola, Special Assistant in the Office of the Vice President; and Bashir Ahmed, Personal Assistant on New Media, all from Kano.
Missing September 2016 appointees?
On September 26, 2016, President Buhari announced appointments of executives for 13 federal government agencies. However, only seven of them are reflected in the Presidency list.
Missing are; Joseph Ari, Director-General, Industrial Training Fund; Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Monitoring Board; Aboloma Anthony, Director-General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria; Mamman Amadu, Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement; Ahmed Bobboi, Executive Secretary, Petroleum Equalization Fund and Sa’adiya Faruq, Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
Abubakar Bello, NEXIM, CEO missing
In a widely-reported appointment, President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2017, approved the appointment of Abubakar Abba Bello as the new Managing Director of Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM). His name was also missing from the list released on Saturday.
Heads of health agencies missing
On July 29, 2016, the Director Press of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Bolaji Adebiyi, in a statement said the President has approved the appointment of new heads of five agencies in the Federal Ministry of Health.
Interestingly, four of the five are missing in the latest presidency list.
Not mentioned in the Presidency list are Babatunde Salako, the Director-General of National Institute for Medical Research from Ogun State; and Chikwe Ihekweazu, the coordinator of National Centre for Disease Control appointed in August 2016.
Also omitted are: Echezona Ezeanolue the Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency; Usman Yusuf, the DG of National Health Insurance Scheme, who was recently suspended; and the Director-General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Sani Aliyu.
OTHERS
Also missing from the list are the Managing Director, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Nurudeen Rafindadi from Katsina; Chairman, Board of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Abdullahi Attah; and Bayo Somefun, Managing Director, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund.
Others are, Luci Ajayi, Executive Secretary, Lagos International Trade Fair Management Board; and Emmanuel Jimme, Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority.
Apart from the missing names, however, some of those listed were wrongly described.
Babandede not from North-central
The presidency list claimed that the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, is from the North-central. But checks by PREMIUM TIMES found this to be wrong. The Immigration boss hails from Jigawa, a North-western state.
Roli Bode George not NDLEA Chairman
The presidency list identified the wife of PDP chieftain, Bode George, Roli Bode-George as the CEO of Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. The list also claimed the BusinessDay list wrongly identified her as Muhammad Abdullah.
However, a further check grossly put the presidency in the wrong. Mrs. Bode-George is not the CEO of the agency. In November 2015, she was appointed acting chairman of the agency, a position she occupied for 54 days before Muhammad Abdullah, a native of Adamawa State, was appointed as substantive chairman on January 19, 2016.
Maryam Uwais not from North-central
Maryam Uwais who was appointed as President Buhari’s Special Adviser for Social Protection Plan was listed to have hailed from North-central; but a further check signifies that the wife of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Muhammadu Uwais is from Kano State.
Conclusion
The list is not exhaustive as PREMIUM TIMES continues to verify the presidency’s list against available data.
The omissions do not, however, follow any specific pattern in term of regions; and so do not necessarily fault the presidency’s motive that Mr. Buhari’s appointments are not lopsided.
Presidency reacts
When contacted, Mr. Adesina said the presidency is aware of the incompleteness of the list.
“We didn’t say it was completely exhaustive,” he told PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday. “There are some others not there. You will see that all the boards of universities, governing council, the SSA on Job Creation are not there. We didn’t say it was exhaustive. That’s not everything. It’s just to show the majority number.”
Asked why the Presidency published an incomplete list as ‘full list,’ Mr. Adesina said the publication was to prove BusinessDay’s publication wrong.
“It’s just to show that the paper that published 100 and said 81 was from the North is not right. It was a mischievous story.”
He said the list will be updated from time to time. “We’ll keep updating it,” he noted.

FG Clamps Down On Online Newspapers, Blogs And Websites
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-05-2017, 05:31 PM - No Replies

By Dare Adekanmbi
The Federal Government has begun secret moves that will see a number of online newspapers, blogs and websites perceived to constitute “threat to national security” permanently shut down.
Social media and Internet users may also not be exempted from the clampdown which will begin any moment from now.
The closest clue in what has been interpreted as an indirect attempt to gag the press and suppress opposing views since the advent of the current administration is the controversial bill to regulate social media which has passed second reading in the Senate.
Sunday Tribune can reveal authoritatively that the government, through the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), has engaged the services of a firm in Lagos to block the domain names of “several identified websites threatening national security.”
The Office of the National Security Adviser drew the list of the offensive websites and the number is in excess of 21, a memo written by NCC, a copy of which Sunday Tribune got said.
The letter, which was dated 20th October, 2017, is a reminder memo to the firm, indicating that other letters had earlier been written to the firm by NCC.
The memo was entitled: “Re: Request to Prevent the Commission of an Offence under Section 146 of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.”
It was signed by NCC’s Head, Legal and Regulatory Services, one Yetunde Akinloye, while an official of the agency co-signed on behalf of Engineer Haru Alhassan who is the Director, New Media and Information Security.
Reference is made to another letter dated 27th September, 2017 on the aove subject matter, directing the contracted firm “to restrict access to several identified websites threatening national security as identified by the Office of the National Security Adviser.”
Further to the said directive, the said firm “…is hereby required to immediately take steps to restrict access within the Nigerian cyberspace in respect of 21 (twenty one) additional websites by blocking the domain names. (The list of websites is attached).”
Section 146 of the NCC Act 2003 states thus:
146
•1: A licensee shall use his best endeavour to prevent the network facilities that he owns or provides or the network service, applications service or content application service that he provides from being used in, or in relation to, the commission of any offence under any law in operation in Nigeria.
•2: A licensee shall, upon written request by the Commission or any other authority, assist the Commission or other authority as far as reasonably necessary in preventing the commission or attempted commission of an offence under any written law in operation in Nigeria or otherwise in enforcing the laws of Nigeria, including the protection of the public revenue and preservation of national security.
•3: Any licensee, shall not be liable in any criminal proceedings of any nature for any damage (including punitive damages), loss, cost or expenditure suffered or to be suffered (whether directly or indirectly) for any act or omission done in good faith in the performance of the duty imposed under subsections (1) and (2).
I’m sure nothing like that happened —Shittu
Reacting, Minister of Communications, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu, said he was not aware any memo originated from the Nigerian Communication Commission instructing any firm to gag the press, particularly the online newspapers, Internet and social media users or shut them down.
Shittu told Sunday Tribune that no instruction would be given to the NCC without such passing through him as the Minister supervising the NCC.
“I am sure NCC will never ever write such a memo. I am sure it never happened.
“President Muhammadu Buhari or any of the people working for him will never do or encourage anything that will amount to gagging of the press,” he said.

Morning Devotional For Sunday 5th Nov

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 5TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ IMPORTANCE OF CORPORATE WORSHIP.✨

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore (Psalm 133:1-3).

One of the many benefits of going to church is the opportunity for corporate worship. Worshipping God on your own is wonderful, but as Christians, we’re required to come together in our respective congregations to worship the Lord, because His intention is to grow His children as families. Of course, there’re families where nobody recognizes another—no communication between parents and the children—that’s not ideal.

God lets us have our individual worship, individual prayers, individual Christian service, but there’s also corporate worship, corporate prayer, and corporate service; things we do together as a congregation. In as much as each one of us has the responsibility to study the Word of God on our own, we should also come together to hear the Word of God as a congregation. These are Christian responsibilities and they’re designed by God for the growth, nourishment, and strengthening of the individual child of God, and the body of Christ as a whole.

Don’t miss such things. They’re not just programmes of the church; they’re responsibilities given to us through the Word of God. It’s got nothing to do with whether you feel like it or not, because even when you don’t feel like going to work on a Monday morning, you still go because the job is important to you.

Ensure to take advantage of the corporate worship with fellow believers. David said, “I was glad when they said let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1). Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the instructiveness of your Word. Now, more than ever, I take going to church and fellowshipping with other believers seriously. And in accordance with your Word, your blessings are evidently manifested in my life, and your glory is seen in all that I do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A New Goalkeeper for Super Eagles?

[Image: Nigeria-Super-Eagles.jpg?fit=1024%2C680&ssl=1]

In spite of booking 2018 World Cup ticket slated for Russia with a match to go, one area that has been given the Gernot Rohr and his coaching crew sleepless night is the goalkeeping department. Ahead of Nigeria’s last qualifier against Algeria and the high profile friendly against Argentina on November 10 and 14 respectively, the German tactician has turned his attention to18-year-old Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, who has only made three appearances for the La Liga side.

With one match left, the Super Eagles have booked the ticket to Russia 2018 World Cup, yet, there are still worries about the quality of the team, especially in the goalkeeping area.

During the qualifying matches, three goalkeepers were on parade- Carl Ikeme, who lost out to acute leukaemia, Daniel Akpeyi, who was shaky against Algeria in Uyo and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who Rohr has no total confidence in. Dele Ajiboye and Dele Alampasu are considered outsiders.
Rohr has now beamed his searchlight on 18-year-old Deportivo La Coruna’s Francis Uzoho.

Therefore, ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the international friendly game against Argentina, Uzoho has been handed his first Nigerian call-up after making his La Liga debut in La Coruna’s 0-0 draw with Eibar on October 16.

Uzoho was extended an invite for the Super Eagles’ last Russia 2018 qualifying match against the Desert Foxes on November 10 and a friendly against Jorge Sampaoli’s star-studded Albiceleste four days later.

According to a statement on the club’s website, “Francis Uzoho, a goalkeeper who recently debuted in an official match with RC Deportivo, has been called up for the first time by Nigeria, for the last qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup and a friendly.”

In an interview with THISDAY, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Christian Obi warned against selecting players on sentiment ahead of the World Cup, saying that in the area of goalkeeping, age and experience count a lot.

“With the World Cup just around the corner, the Super Eagles coaching crew should shun selecting players based on sentiment. The Mundial is the pinnacle of football; it is therefore not a tournament for an 18-year-old boy, most especially in the area of goalkeeping. It is a very crucial aspect of the team. He is the one that sees the whole field better than the other players and can chip in advice to his teammates when and where necessary. You need a very experienced person to do this kind of job and not a kid,” the 2005 FIFA U-20 Youth Championship bronze winner warned.

Continuing, he said, “After our exploit in the U-20 World Cup in Russia, some of us were drafted into the senior national team, and as an 18-year old then, I was not given the opportunity to keep for the Super Eagles until after many years in camp. I was just there as an understudy to the older and more experienced goalkeepers, before I eventually got my chance after the coaching crew felt I had matured and amassed enough experience. So, the fact that Francis Uzoho has been in goal in three matches for Deportivo La Coruna, owing to injury to first choice goalkeeper is not enough to merit a national team call-up.

“I think an invitation to the junior team would rather be more appropriate for Uzoho to show Nigerians the stuff he’s made of, from then he can graduate to the national team. I will advise the Super Eagles coaching crew to stick to Apeyi and Ezenwa, support them with the experience of Vincent Enyeama depending on his form, but not a goalkeeper who is just cutting his teeth in goalkeeping.”

Uzoho, a former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper became the youngest foreign goalkeeper to ever play in La Liga in a memorable Deportivo La Coruna debut after keeping a clean sheet in his club’s 0-0 draw at Eibar.

The 18-year-old, who arrived at the club from Qatar’s Aspire Academy in January, produced four important saves to help Deportivo claim a point.
“A day that will never disappear from my memory – my debut – thanks all for the support,” he said.

At 18 years 11 months and 17 days, he becomes the second youngest player in La Liga this season, behind Real Madrid’s Moroccan defender, Achraf Hakimi – who made his debut at 18 years 10 months 27 days earlier this month.

After regular first-choice goalkeeper, Ruben, suffered a finger injury, Deportivo boss Pepe Mel opted for the Nigerian ahead of the experienced Costel Pantilimon and was impressed by the youngster.

“A coach has to act according to the things he sees in training. He is only 18 and he can barely speak Spanish but I know what he can offer this club,” Mel said.

Uzoho was born on October 28, 1998. He joined Qatari Aspire Academy in 2013 when he was 14. Uzoho started his footballing career as an attacker but was converted to a goalkeeper after being deemed “too slow” at the age of 12. In 2016, after impressing on a tournament in Barcelona, he joined Deportivo de La Coruna’s Juvenilsquad.

Age rules meant that Uzoho could only become available to sign a contract with Dépor in January 2017; shortly after signing his contract, he started to train with the first team and was promoted to the reserves ahead of the new season. He made his senior debut on September 10 in a 3–0 Segunda Division B home win against Real Madrid Castilla.

Uzoho made his first team and La Liga debut on 15 October in a 0–0 away draw against Eibar. At the age of 18 years and 352 days, he became the youngest ever foreign goalkeeper to debut in La Liga, and the second-youngest player to appear in the league behind Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi.

100 up for insatiable Cavani as PSG win without Neymar

[Image: Cavani.png]                          Edinson Cavani

The world’s most expensive player sat out the game at the Stade Raymond Kopa with a minor thigh problem picked up in the midweek Champions League win over Anderlecht but he was not missed as PSG went provisionally seven points clear at the top of the table from Monaco.

Kylian Mbappe and Julian Draxler both scored early goals and Cavani netted his 100th in France’s top flight on the half-hour mark.

The Uruguayan scored again on the hour mark before Mbappe grabbed his second of the day late on to take him to six goals in 12 appearances for the club.

A second successive five-goal victory for PSG means they remain unbeaten in all competitions this season, while Angers are still without a win at home.

As well as Neymar, PSG were without Marquinhos and Angel Di Maria, whose partners have both given birth in recent days. Coach Unai Emery therefore opted to give a first start since August to Javier Pastore.

PSG’s opener arrived inside five minutes as Mbappe turned in a Dani Alves cross from the right, and it was 2-0 before quarter of an hour had been played. Again Alves was the provider with a delightful through ball for Draxler, who beat Mathieu Michel with a clipped first-time finish.

The third goal that allowed Cavani to reach his century came at the end of a brilliant move, with Alves finding Adrien Rabiot, who released Mbappe to showcase his lightning pace and set up Cavani to blast home. Cavani, signed from Napoli in 2013, reached the landmark on his 145th Ligue 1 appearance and joins a select club in having scored 100 times in two of Europe’s big five leagues having also achieved the feat in Serie A.

The only others to have done so are Gonzalo Higuain (Spain and Italy) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (France and Italy).

He is also well on course to catch Ibrahimovic as the club’s all-time top scorer in the league, with the Swede hitting 113 in his four seasons with the club.

Cavani hit his 101st — his 13th of this season — in trademark fashion, starting his run in the right-back position and bursting forward to collect a Draxler pass before toe-poking home.

Mbappe completed the rout as he rounded Michel and scored from a tight angle after being released by Lucas Moura.

Reigning champions Monaco can close back to within four points of PSG at the summit with a win at home to Guingamp later (1900 GMT).

Claudio Ranieri’s Nantes host Toulouse looking for a win that will take them back up to third above Lyon, who go to derby rivals Saint-Etienne on Sunday.

Sunday also sees Marseille host Caen in what could be a tense atmosphere in their first outing since Patrice Evra was suspended by the club for aiming a karate kick at the head of one of his team’s own supporters.

Evra was red-carded after the incident, which occurred in the pre-match warm-up before Thursday’s Europa League clash with Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal.

Lagos as a city of dreams

[Image: Lagos-skyline-1-e1503304254846.jpg]                                                                                        Lagos skyline

Ever since the return to civil rule in 1999, successive Lagos government has continued to flirt with the idea of making Lagos a so-called megacity with the requisite infrastructure and providing quality of life. And true to that desire, the government has always left no one in any doubt as regards its noble intention. Huge investments in various directions and massive overhaul of infrastructures targeted at rebranding Lagos have remained top priorities. From one administration to the other, the focus has been the same. Starting with the trail blazer known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a new wave of purposeful governance, perhaps never known before in annals of the history of Nigeria began. A pact between the World Bank and the Lagos government sparked off the rehabilitation of roads most of which before then were in various states of disrepair. Visionary leadership also led to the formation of various agencies such as LASTMA, LAWMA, LASEPA and others to handle different projects. With such concerted effort aimed at job creation for thousands of formerly unemployed youths, everyone began to feel the impacts and the dividends of democracy.

If however there was someone who sought to make Lagos a megacity in just a matter of weeks, that man was no other than the immediate past governor of the state, Babatunde Raji Fashola! Before he came on the scene, the little known about him was that he was the Chief of Staff to the man who handed power to him. But as soon as he took over, Fashola seemed bent on not only building on the success of his predecessor but also surpassing it. To achieve that, he launched a tax campaign that soon became his logo. Also to have a properly secured Lagos, he appealed to various state-based companies to subscribe to his new security arrangement and with the encouraging response he got, he soon signed a security pact with the Nigerian police and the military. Since then it would appear that most of the armed robbers who formerly terrorised Lagos had relocated.
Perhaps the greatest achievement of the Fashola-led government was the sacking of Oshodi. Lagosians woke up one morning to find that the menace that was Oshodi had been defeated and the traders dislodged. A few weeks after that interesting episode, the whole area had begun to wear a new look as the government commenced the construction of foot bridges to ease up the large human traffic while all criminal hideouts were exposed as everywhere was lit up. It was a lifetime achievement which before then no one would have thought was possible. Yet since every government will always have its plus and minuses, Fashola was never in the good books of the artisans including roadside technicians, street traders and particularly commercial motorcyclists, known as Okada operators.

But the coming of the Akinwunmi Ambode government has shown that governance is about the people, not necessarily structures. By adopting a more humane approach demonstrated by removing the Vehicle Inspection Officers from the roads, even if temporarily, putting LASTMA in proper check and restricting the activities of the Federal Roads Service Corps to the fringes, Ambode has brought succour to all motorists especially commercial vehicles drivers who before then lived in utter terror of those agencies. Again, making the issue of workers’ promotion less cumbersome has also endeared the amiable governor to civil servants. Moreover, the massive construction and opening of new roads in all local council areas has further reduced the stress experienced by Lagosians in the past, and even though at present many Lagos roads are in different states of disrepair, most of the citizens trust the present government to swing into action as soon as the rains are gone.

While the megacity idea of the Lagos State government is quite laudable and desirable, the truth however is that it may be difficult if not impossible to achieve, at least not with the pressure put on Lagos by the non-viability of other states of the federation. Ironically, most of these moribund states have more local governments and collect more monthly allocations from the Federal Government. As it were, Lagos shoulders almost all the burdens of the other states whose citizens continue to troop onto Lagos daily. This has resulted in the springing up of so many overpopulated shanties spread across the state. Unplanned demography and utterly poor drainages of these shanties coupled with the usual illiteracy-induced acts of sabotage and the general uncooperative attitude of different disgruntled elements will always render any good intention of the government inconsequential. Shortfall in health facilities will never abate, education will remain a mockery due to overcrowded classrooms and non-commitment of both learners and their tax-evading parents who nonetheless are spoon-fed with the politics of free education. Refuse everywhere and blocking of drainages will continue to be a recurring decimal.

But this is not to suggest that the government should relent in its strides at good governance. For instance, the government could consider restricting some activities to the night. All over the advanced world, some duties are reserved for the night and that helps a great deal to ease the burden of governance, activities such as road construction, sweeping of the streets and clearing of refuse can be done at night. With enough personnel backed by adequate security and standby vehicles, the task can be performed just within two hours every night, and the citizens would wake up every morning to find everywhere spick and span. This will solve a whole lot of problems especially that of the traffic gridlock often caused whenever these activities are on during the day. Moreover, there is need for the government to re-examine the status of some of the roads. It may become necessary for instance for some one-way roads to turn to double lanes to ease traffic congestion which breeds street trading. Again, whatever it would cost the state government, Lagos by now should have its own independent power project to serve the entire Lagos and its environs, and all traffic and street lights must be activated. Installation of CCTV cameras in strategic points will also enable the relevant authorities to monitor happenings on the roads effectively. In addition, all open drainages in the state must be covered as that is the only way to prevent them from being overtaken by large garbage which block them and lead to serious flooding whenever there is heavy downpour. Continuous flooding weakens the roads and eventually breaks them up as is presently the case with most Lagos roads. Sadly when roads are bad, the citizens groan. Oblivious of the fact that it was all due to their dirty habits, they still heap all the blames on the government.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES SATURDAY

4TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨BE ACTIVE IN SOUL WINNING✨

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever (Daniel 12:3).

Jesus said, “...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). If you truly believe in what Christ did for you; if you believe that His work of salvation was important, and that you actually received that salvation, you can’t keep it to yourself. You have to tell others about Jesus. You have to be active in soul winning.

Every so often, pray and ask the Lord to put someone in your heart that you can lead to Christ and invite to church; someone you can share the Word of God with and bring to church. It’s important to pray for the salvation of those in your world, and in far off regions, whose hearts the Lord would make ready to receive eternal life (Acts 13:48).

The Bible says in Acts 2:47 that the Lord added to the church daily, such as should be saved, letting us know that every day, there’re those that are appointed and ordained for salvation. There’re those whom the Lord ordained should become part of the church, but it’s our responsibility to reach out to them and bring them into the Kingdom.

Some people don’t find the things of God pleasant; they don’t see the need to go to church, not because they’re congenital atheists, but because they don’t understand or know enough. They’ve always and only heard the wrong information, from the wrong people about God. This has beclouded their opinion and given them the wrong perception about God and the Church.

It’s part of the reason we must be more passionate, strategic, painstaking, and unrelenting in our soul winning efforts. We must keep preaching the Gospel and interceding for lost souls. The Bible describes those who aren’t born again as hopeless, and alienated from the life of God, thus, appointed to the judgment or wrath of God (Ephesians 4:18, Ephesians 2:12; Ephesians 2-3).

Make it your life’s purpose that the sinners in your world aren’t going to keep living without hope. Share the Gospel with them. Help them discover God’s light, and receive His righteousness. You’re His witness. He saved you and made you His partner in saving others.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for giving me eyes that see, ears that hear, and an understanding heart. Your love compels me to intercede and preach the Gospel to the lost, bringing them out of darkness into your marvellous light. I’m an active soul winner, and my light shines ever more brightly, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Smelling Your Partner's Fart Will Prolong Your Life - Scientific Research Claims
User Avatar Forum: Romance
Posted by: Edoman - 11-03-2017, 09:06 PM - No Replies

According to scientists no matter whether you like it or not, smelling your partner’s farts will amazingly make you live longer. Yes you read that right, a research team at the University of Exeter have discovered it is good for you to inhale your partner’s stinky farts as the gases in them can combat diseases.
So if you catch your partner eyeing you up weirdly tonight in bed, just sitting there waiting, you know why. The study, published in the journal Medicinal Chemistry Communications, analysed the impact of the gas hydrogen sulfide which humans produce in small amounts.
Although it was found to be noxious in large doses, researchers discovered that cellular exposure to small amounts of the gas can prevent mitochondrial damage which has many health implications.
One of the researchers, Dr. Mark Wood, said:
Although hydrogen sulfide is well known as a pungent, foul-smelling gas in rotten eggs and flatulence, it is naturally produced in the body and could in fact be a healthcare hero. Surprisingly the gas in farts can actually reduce the risk of several life threatening illnesses including cancer, stroke and heart attacks.
According to researchers, it has also been proven to prevent arthritis and dementia in old age. Creating a new compound know as AP39, the team at the University believe this can hold the key to future therapies as it ensures that the body retains and produces the right amount of hydrogen sulfide.
Researchers claim that this compound can be delivered to targeted cells in the body and placed inside. Professor Matt Whiteman, from the university’s medical school, added: When cells become stressed by disease, they draw in enzymes to generate minute quantities of hydrogen sulfide. This keeps the mitochondria ticking over and allows cells to live. If this doesn’t happen, the cells die and lose the ability to regulate survival and control inflammation.
We have exploited this natural process by making a compound, called AP39, which slowly delivers very small amounts of this gas specifically to the mitochondria. Our results indicate that if stressed cells are treated with AP39, mitochondria are protected and cells stay alive. According to the scientists the research has shown that if AP39 is administered, in models of cardiovascular disease 80 percent of the heart’s mitochondria cells survive under highly destructive conditions.
Early results also that show that AP39 can help to lower high blood pressure and also dramatically improve the chances of survival after a heart attack by slowing the heartbeat making it more efficient. The team are now working towards testing the compound in humans. This research is interesting but of course in its early stages with no real conclusions being made. However, next time your partner has a go at your for farting, just tell them you are doing it out of the kindness of your heart.

Man born without thighs finds love with woman he met on Facebook
A man born without thighs because of a rare medical condition has found love with a woman he met on Facebook.
Nathan Hrdlicka – who is 1.37m (4ft 6in) tall – has been called a ‘midget’ but is now happy in a loving relationship with girlfriend Chelsee Stuart.
[Image: 45F889A800000578-5046095-image-m-18_1509...03x410.jpg]
When 34-year-old Nathan, from Santa Fe, New Mexico, met 19-year-old Chelsee – who is at least a foot taller than him – online, she initially saw his height as a ‘problem’.
But then she fell in love with him and has seen past his disability.

[Image: 45F8872700000578-5046095-image-a-7_1509703855961.jpg]
The couple have revealed their height difference draws stares but people can see they are in love.
Nathan is one of just 25 people in the world born with tbilateral proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD) type D – which means his knee bones are directly beneath his hip bones.
He is the only person with the disease who has been able to walk despite the challenges.
Nathan met Chelsee on Facebook on a healing page and they hit it off immediately – despite Chelsee’s initial problem with their height difference.

[Image: 45F88C2400000578-5046095-image-m-2_15097...78x410.jpg]

Chelsee said:
When we first met I did think the height difference was going to be a sort of problem because this was my first time really being with someone that shorter than me.
‘It took us a lot of time to really learn what works and what doesn’t work but eventually now everything works.’
But she says she has learnt to accept him for who he is – and the limitations of their relationship.

One of the biggest challenges that we faced together is I’m a super, super physical person,’ she explained.

‘I like to go hiking and exploring in the woods and so it would be awesome to do that with my best friend but since endurance is tough on him, he can’t really keep up.
‘I have to find other people to do those activities with.’
Nathan is clearly smitten and says Chelsee is a supportive partner.
‘Chelsee supports me emotionally as a friend in a way that I never had in my life,’ he said.
When I am sick she is there making sure there is everything she can do to make me feel better. Whether it is just to put a smile on my face or a glass of cold water. ‘

The couple say that they do get stares when they go out together, but that people can tell they are in love.

5 Important keys on how to Secure a loan from a bank
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 11-03-2017, 05:04 PM - No Replies

Banks are in the business of making money. One of the ways through which banks make money is from interest income on loans to businesses.
The whole process or methods used by banks to ascertain the creditworthiness of a borrower is very rigorous. Whatever process the bank you may seek for a loan from is, there are some guiding principles which will help you get a loan faster.
Whether or not you are applying for a commercial loan, real estate financing, a line of credit for business working capital, some of the basic lending principles of banks still apply. They are known as the 5 C’s of lending;
Character
The character of a prospective borrower is the most difficult to measure out of the 5Cs, as it is intangible.
As an individual, would you lend your own money to someone you have never met? Or to someone who has had a long criminal record. I guess your answer is no.
Banks look for borrowers with good character. A background check on you should turn up no red flags that would call into question your willingness or ability to fulfill your financial obligations.
To judge the character of a prospective borrower, several traits are analyzed by a bank to assess you. Some of these traits include;
Successful prior business experience.
An existing or past relationship with the bank (e.g. prior credit or depositor relationship).
Referrals from professionals (lawyers, accountants, business advisers) who have reviewed your business proposals.
Evidence of your care and effort in the business planning process.
The amount a borrower is willing to commit to the business is also a good pointer to the character of the borrower.
Ultimately, by assessing your character, banks want to know that if things go wrong, you will be there to ensure that the company honors its commitments to the bank.
Even if you do well in the other C’s of credit, you will be refused a loan if the character test is failed.
Capacity
The Capacity of a borrower measures a borrower’s ability to repay a loan.
A bank needs to be certain that the borrower will be able to generate enough cash-flow from his business to service the interest and principal on the loan.
If you are a business owner, you will need to show the bank in your presentation a historical and projected cash flow of your business and compare it to the company’s projected debt service requirements.
Commonly used metrics used by banks to measure the capacity of a borrower depending on the type of loan include; working cash flow ratio and Debt to Income ratio.
If you are a salary earner, the bank will look at how long you have been at your job and how stable your job is.
Capital
The amount of capital a prospective business owner puts in a business shows how much equity you have in that business.
A bank will believe that if you have none or a small percentage of your money invested in the business you are seeking funds for, it will be easier for you to walk away from servicing your debt if things go bad for your business.
There is no precise measure or amount of enough capital, but it is specific to the situation and the owners’ financial profile. The bank will look at the borrowers’ investment in the business relative to his net-worth to ascertain the level of seriousness of the borrower.
Collateral
Sometimes things don’t work out as planned and the business may fold up. The bank will therefore need a secondary source of repayment. This is where “Collateral” comes in.
If the company is unable to generate sufficient cash flow to repay the loan in the future, the bank will fall back on the collateral provided by the borrower. In most cases, the bank will want the collateral value to exceed the loan value.
Some of the asset classes that banks are interested in as a form of collateral include; Real estate, Equipment, Accounts receivable and inventory.
Conditions
Conditions refer to the overall environment the bank is operating in. The bank will assess the conditions affecting the company, its industry and the macro-economy as a whole.
Some of the issues the bank will look at to gauge the business will include; Competitive landscape of the business, nature of customer relationships, supply risks and macroeconomic factors

Why Lagos May Collapse - Donald Duke
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 11-03-2017, 05:02 PM - No Replies

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has warned that the economic pressure on Lagos may make the state collapse. He gave the warning at the official launch of the National Competitiveness Report and Sub National Index held in Lagos.
“We are living in a fool’s paradise. We here in Lagos are cocooned from the realities of Nigeria. Take a trip to Borno State; go to parts of the north and the Niger-Delta”. Duke recalled that he was discussing with Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede and Aliko Dangote, when the latter told the story of a boy whom he found at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp and asked for his father.
“The chap looked at him (Dangote) but did not understand the concept of fatherhood. He is in the IDP Camp. There are thousands of them in those camps; there is no hope for them; all they do there is just breathing.”
He lambasted the Buhari government for showing more interest in politics than economics. “And if you don’t get the economics right, then governance cannot work. You cannot be competitive when you are not productive. The first thing is how do we get productive?”
Duke also criticised the way states in Nigeria have been set up. “And there is no master-plan to make each one of them an economic entity. So, we have a country, where a blessing (exponential population growth) is turning into a curse, because in the next three years, our population will be 200 million, yet all the productive indices are going down. “Lagos may be crowded out. Every year, 750,000 new people come to Lagos to reside, the economy cannot support that. So if you don’t get the rest of the country working, Lagos itself will collapse.”

Woman thought she was infertile until she met a 77-year-old man and fell pregnant

Woman thought she was infertile until she met a 77-year-old man and fell pregnant
[Image: baby%2Bpierre.jpg]

When people meet them for the first time, they think  the baby is his grandchild. A 38-year-old woman who wrongly thought she was infertile has had a baby with a 77-year-old man after falling in love on a Australian backpacking trip.

Kat King is frequently mistaken for her husband Kevin's granddaughter but she says she has never felt more content. The couple met in January 2007 at a campsite in Tasmania and despite the 39-year age gap, the pair immediately hit it off.

Kevin proposed to Kat a few months later and in 2010 they welcomed their "miracle" son Pierre. Kat began her backpacking adventure in 2006, leaving her native Germany for Australia.

Speaking of how she met Kevin, she said: “We were just friends, and I would stay in his nice caravan in return for cooking for him. While we shared his double bed, there was no funny business
“But, one day in summer 2007, in a supermarket, he bumped into me by accident and I reacted furiously and stormed off – threatening to leave him and travel alone.

”After a row, we kissed and made-up and, shortly afterwards, became a couple.” Just a few months later, in August 2007, Kevin proposed with a silver ring – and, despite his age, she agreed to marry him.
That autumn she returned to Germany to tell her mum, Carla Hoffman, who was in her 50s but has since sadly died, was in a relationship with Kevin and due to be wed.
[size=undefined][Image: parents%2Band%2Bbaby.jpg]
[/size]
Carla was shocked - particularly as he was divorced and his oldest girl, Debbie, was 14 years Kat’s senior.
“She understood when I told her how much I loved him,” explained Kat. “Other people weren’t so positive, though. They thought he was too old for me, especially as he had been mistaken for my grandad.”

But Kat did not know just how big their age gap was until the day before her November 2007 wedding.

Kevin had lied and knocked ten years off his age.“He told me the truth – that he was 39 years older than me. He’d shaved 10 years off,” she laughed. “But by that point, it was too late. There was no point in getting annoyed as I was in love.”

Only the happy couple, Kat's sister Debbie and her mum Carla knew the pair were tying the knot in a sweet garden ceremony.

Other people simply believed they were having a party.

“They were so surprised when they discovered the truth,” giggled Kat. “But it was a lovely day. I wore a white dress and it was perfect.”

And in September 2010 baby Pierre, now seven, was born.

Kat discovered she was pregnant at the doctor’s, where she had booked an appointment to investigate her unexplained infertility. “We were sort of trying for a baby,” she explained. “We thought, ‘If it happens, it happens.

“But when it didn’t, I realised I really wanted it to.
[size=undefined][Image: family.jpg]
[/size]
“That’s why – after more than a year of trying - I was at the doctor’s.

“We were both absolutely thrilled when I found out I was pregnant – even more so when Pierre was born on September 10, weighing a healthy 7lb 4oz.”  Kevin's health has since declined and he recently underwent open heart surgery.

“When the surgeon heard about me they joked with him, saying, 'We made it extra strong, so you can live for a long while yet,'” said Kat.

“I know my choices might seem strange to some people. But I’m proof that age is just a number and you’re never too old for love.”

Nigerians flock Akure to meet baby born with 'healing powers'

The birth of a baby boy, simply referred to as ‘Daddy Samuel’, in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, has turned the residence of his parents into a sort of miracle healing centre.
People from far and near have been besieging the house daily to seek spiritual assistance from the two month-old baby said to have spoken in the cradle – two weeks after birth.
Samuel, whose parents claim was born with a bunch of leaves bonded by a strand of hair, was said to possess a special healing power.
Mr Olusola Ajayi, Samuel’s father, said:“My wife gave birth on the 28th of August after a bunch of leaves came out of her womb and we were amazed after he began to talk, charging us to proclaim his coming to the world.”
According to the parents, mysterious powers of Samuel, born at a Comprehensive Health Centre in Akure, became noticeable when a bunch of leaves was said to have preceded his coming out of the mother’s womb. Two weeks later, Samuel shocked us and his three older brothers when
he instructed us to proclaim his coming to the world,” Ajayi said.
However, the baby did not talk when NAN correspondents visited, and neither could the parents show the said bunch of leaves nor play the recording of the boy’s speech that was being circulated round town. Yet, they insisted on his miraculous birth.
The parents, who recently relocated from Lagos, said they had made several attempts to abort the boy’s pregnancy due to economic hardship in the upkeep of the three boys they had before Samuel.
Some of the visitors who visited the house said they were there to satisfy their curiosity and to seek spiritual assistance.
Pastor Gabriel Oluwadamilare of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Shalom Parish, Ikorodu, Lagos State described the baby as a true messenger of God.
Oluwadamilare said that circumstances that surrounded the birth of new born baby also happened in the Bible.
I actually came to see the glory and I have no doubt about it. My stand is that what happened is true because nothing is impossible for God to do.
I have come to seek spiritual solution in respect of a lady who has visited several hospitals in Lagos over bone problems in the last five years.
There is nothing fetish about the boy coming to the world with a bunch of leaves, it is just a sign from God,” the pastor noted.
One of the workers at the place, Maruf Akande, also known as Alfa, said the whole situation was a wonder to him, saying that the baby started speaking when he was two weeks old.
According to Akande, who claimed to be the manager of the spiritual centre, people have been coming to the place for the past one month, and the baby’s parents have not rested due to the huge crowd that keeps coming. The service rendered was free initially but we have started collecting a consultation fee of N500 per head with a view to reducing the crowd. yet they keep coming.
People who need help come from far places – Lagos, Abuja and even overseas and they can testify to God’s glory.
For instance, a woman came from Abuja with three years pregnancy but she gave birth inside a bus conveying her back to Abuja after taking sachet water given to her here.
The baby only spoke twice and since then he has transfered the spirit to his mother who can heal anyone each time she carried the baby to her bosom.
The whole thing started when this baby Samuel started saying after two weeks that his parents should announce his glory to the whole world,” Akande said.
He said that no fewer than 300 people registered at the centre every day.
According to him, the baby is fed with pap and still sucks his mother breast milk.
Akande said all clients were treated equally and fairly without any preferential treatment irrespective of status or position.
Another worker at the venue, Mrs Aina Bello, said that her husband was a beneficiary of the ‘wonder boy’.
Bello said her husband was ill for six days to the extent that some hospitals rejected him since they did not have a solution to his illness.
We just discovered that my husband collapsed, all his body system became abnormal and he was in that position for six days.
We have spent about N45,000 in different hospitals but the situation remained the same. Even some rejected him.
But thanks to baby Samuel that God used to heal my husband. Samuel’s mother just told me, having received inspiration from baby Samuel, to give him sachet water and instructed me to give alms, which I did.
To my surprise, when I did as was instructed, my husband just got healed. He can walk and do normal things now,” she said.
According to her, no money was collected from her and that she has since then become a volunteer taking care of the baby’s clothing.
A lady, who simply identified herself as Bukola, told NAN that she was at the venue because of her mother who had stroke.
Bukola said that she believed the whole thing and that was the reason she came with her mother.
According to her, her mother will be healed when attended to by baby Samuel
The birth of Samuel had also boosted economic activities in the area as okada riders now lead people from major roads to the house.
Food and beverage vendors are also making brisk business off the legion of visitors trooping in daily.
The parents also confirmed receiving gifts from various men of God from both Islamic and Christian faiths.

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Kano State, Alhaji Ladan Baba, who spoke to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent following the passing out of the Batch ‘B’ stream one corps members posted to the state, said no fewer than 21 Corps members from Batch ‘B’ Streams I and II serving in Kano State would repeat their service year due to various acts of indiscipline.
“Eight out of the 21 corps members are from the Stream one, 13 of them are from the Stream 2 while 10 corps members would repeat few weeks or months.
“On a sad note, we lost a male and a female corps members, Shuaibu Yahuza from Bauchi State and Happiness Emmanuel from Enugu State, both of the Stream 1,” he said.
[size=undefined]According to him, affected corps members were punished for either absconding from their places of primary assignment or they were absent for more than three months without permission or any concrete reason.  He further disclosed that 13 Stream 1 members excelled, and some of them would receive commendation certificates while others would receive the State’s Honours Award.[/size]

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 3RD NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨THE WORD IMPARTS FAITH✨

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

God’s Word is trustworthy and infallible; you can stake your life on it. But you can’t rely on or trust in something you don’t know about. You can only have faith in something you have information on.

For instance, if I made you a promise that I’d give you a car-gift tomorrow, you’d have faith for the car because the information has bolstered your hope; I’ve given you the reason to expect a car tomorrow. And because you trust my word, you’d move from mere “hope” to the confident assurance that, come what may, you’re going to have a car tomorrow.

Though you haven’t even seen it yet, you’d immediately start sharing your testimony of a new car, just because I said, “I have a car for you.” Faith came to you because of what I said, which you heard. If I didn’t say anything, or even if I said it, but you didn’t hear it, you wouldn’t have had faith to the point of telling your friends, “I now have a car.”

That’s how it is with God’s Word. Information from God’s Word will cause you to have faith in God. That’s what we read in our opening verse: faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The Word produces and imparts faith to your spirit. You don’t have to struggle or try to make it happen; just hear the Word, and faith will be stirred in your spirit.

You may have noticed that, sometimes, as you listen to God’s Word, maybe while in church or during your personal study, all the challenges you may have been facing suddenly seem like nothing. The reason is, when the Word of God enters your spirit, it sparks up faith in you. The Word becomes real in your spirit, giving you a sense of victory and dominion.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your Word is living and active in me. I’m born of the Word; therefore, I live by the Word. As I study and meditate on the Word, my life is improved, from glory to glory, and the blessings of acting on the Word are evidently manifest in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Hebrews 11:3* Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Passengers Hail Arik over on time departure

Airline passengers have hailed the new scheduling of Arik Air flights, saying the delays, cancellations and frustration associated with the carrier has disappeared.
A cross section of passengers who spoke with Daily Trust at the General Aviation Terminal of Murtala Muhammed Airport where the airline operates said the airline’s services have now improved.
Arik Air which used to be the biggest carrier in the country, recently experienced slump after series of operational encumbrances bordering on flights delays, cancellations among others.
The airline was however taken over by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) which is managing the carrier till today.
Checks by Daily Trust at various airports showed that Arik Air flights now depart on schedule without much delay.
One of the passengers who identified himself as Mohammed Shuaibu on flight W3732 from Abuja to Lagos said the airline’s scheduling is now more precise unlike before.
It was learnt that the flight scheduled for 10:00 a.m called for boarding at exactly 9:28 and completed boarding at 9:50. The flight took off at exactly 10:05 a.m.
Shuaibu said many passengers become agitated when airlines delay flights without communicating effectively to passengers the cause for the delay. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/passengers...rture.html

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨BLESS AND CREATE WITH WORDS.✨

And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth (Genesis 1:22).

The first chapter of Genesis gives a clear narration of how God brought creation into being. It tells us in verses twenty and twenty-one precisely what God did: He spoke words. He said, “…Let there be…” and everything He said came into being. Then in the twenty-second verse, we observe something: He blessed every living creature that He created saying, “…Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.”

He spoke to create, and He blessed what He created, with words. When He said, “Be fruitful and multiply,” He invoked into them the power to multiply, the power to increase mightily and to spread. He did it with words. He did the same thing after He created man. Genesis 1:27 says, “…God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Then in verse twenty-eight, we read that He blessed them saying, “…Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Observe that God created man in His own image, and likeness. That means He created man to look like Him (in His image), and to function like Him (in His likeness).

Therefore, since God creates and blesses with words, it means we have the ability, and are required to function like Him. We bless and create with our words. Your words are so important. Only say things that are consistent with the will and purpose of God for your life.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue….” Use your tongue to speak blessings, creative and corrective words, words of peace, health, and prosperity. Bless, that is, invoke the power of multiplication, increase, fruitfulness, and productivity into your finances, your business, and other areas of your life with words. God has given you a wholesome tongue (Proverbs 15:4), to create or recreate the circumstances of your life to align with His destiny and perfect will for you. Keep yourself in the transcendent life, with words.

CONFESSION
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage. I’m walking in the light of God’s glory; I’m a success. I walk in prosperity, health and righteousness. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY: James 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able also to bridle the whole body.

Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness therein [is] a breach in the spirit.

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Ekwueme collapses at home, admitted in Enugu hospital

                                                                                          Alex Ekwueme

Second republic Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, has collapsed and is currently at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery, by Penok petrol station in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State.

The PUNCH learnt on Tuesday night that Ekwueme collapsed around 2am last Saturday, at his residence in Independence Layout, Enugu.
The development comes barely 10 days (October 10) after he celebrated his 85th birthday.

Family members close to our correspondent said that the former vice-president went into coma soon after he collapsed.

“He was trying to get something from the table when he suddenly collapsed and immediately someone raised the alarm, we proceeded to revive him while cautious enough not to attract neighbours,” a relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.

He added, “When it became obvious that he had lapsed into coma, we rushed him to a hospital (unnamed) in GRA (Government Reserved Area), but we were referred to Memphys Hospital by medical consultants who had critically examined his condition.”

The source said that the family chose to keep the incident secret for a while with the hope that Ekwueme would “miraculously” come out of coma.
“When there was no sign of improvement on Monday afternoon, we rallied round and informed the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, who is like a son, and he has been making plans to fly him overseas,” the source added.

Medical personnel at Memphys Hospital said that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State broke down in tears on seeing Ekwueme at the Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday evening.

Although the governor’s visit was enshrouded in secrecy so as not to attract the prying eyes of the media and residents in the state, it was gathered that he could not hide his emotions as he wailed uncontrollably.
“My namesake, Ifeanyichukwu, do not leave us now! Even if you must go, please wait to see your daughter become the deputy governor of Anambra State before you leave us,” Ugwuanyi was reported to have wailed at the ICU.

The PUNCH recalls that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November18 poll in Anambra State, Oseloka Obaze, had presented the first daughter of Ekwueme, Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, as his running mate.

Kaduna state governor El Rufai intent on sacking 22000 teachers who failed
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-02-2017, 07:14 AM - No Replies

Sometime last month, it was revealed that 22000 teachers in Kaduna were on the brink of losing their jobs after failing a basic competence test. The Kaduna state chapter of the Nigerian Union Teachers threatened industrial action but the state government has refused to back down.
In a live interview with radio stations in Kaduna, governor Nasir El Rufai said the NUT should be embarrassed at the literacy level of teachers in the state. He said: “Everybody knows that we will not be deterred in doing what is right for the future of our children. The NUT thinks this is about politics, making a public show of opposing what they know to be right. Shouldn’t everybody be embarrassed by the test results? Where is the sense of shame? I hear some people say the pass mark for a Primary Four exam should be 60%; the same people say the state government has no right to test the competence of its employees. There is no bigger evidence of the crisis in our society than that a union whose members failed a Primary 4 examination thinks it can create problems over the issue rather than be a part of the solution.
“We are not people that bow to threats. We will respond appropriately. What will be point of that strike? To force us to violate our oath of office and knowingly retain as teachers those that are not qualified? That will not happen."
The governor said the abysmal performance of teachers in the competence test was due to a politicisation of the recruitment process by politicians and local government chairmen who turned the primary school sector to a “dumping ground for their thugs”.
“Unqualified teachers entered the system because the recruitment of teachers was politicised. The local government council chairmen and other senior politicians and bureaucrats saw teaching as a dumping ground for their thugs, supporters and other unqualified persons.
“Teachers were employed at local government level without adherence to standards. In many instances, no examinations or interviews were conducted to assess the quality of recruits. Political patronage, nepotism and corruption became the yardstick, thus giving unqualified persons a way in. Teaching jobs were given as patronage to those connected to politicians and bureaucrats."
He disclosed that a process in place to replace those facing the sack with 25000 qualified teachers.
“The Kaduna State Executive Council has approved the recruitment of 25,000 primary school teachers. Recruitment notices have already been advertised by the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). This time around, there would be standardized tests for the recruits and a further training programme before the new teachers take over the classrooms. No unqualified person will scale through. And we will vet certificates very closely and very often. The future of our children is so important that we will not take chances. We will be vigilant in ensuring that only good people teach in our public schools” he said https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/11/...-test.html

Nigeria Moves up 24 Places in World Bank’s Doing Business Report

• Ranked among 10 most improved global economies

Nigeria has moved up 24 places in the World Bank’s Doing Business report released Tuesday and was also recognised as one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world.

From last year’s 171st position in the Doing Business report, Nigeria is now ranked 145th, in a project that provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies worldwide.

A statement by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s spokesman, Mr. Laolu Akande, quoted the vice-president as saying Nigeria had broken the jinx of a decade of decline in global rankings on the ease of doing business.

Osinbajo, who said the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) set up by President Muhammadu Buhari and headed by him had worked hard to achieve the feat, praised all stakeholders who cooperated with the council to achieve the feat.

“I welcome Nigeria’s improved performance. We are one of the top ten reforming economies in the world in 2017. After a decade-long decline in Nigeria’s rankings, last year the government recorded a modest increase.

“This year, Mr. President set us an ambitious target of moving up twenty places in the rankings – I am delighted that we have exceeded his goal.

“Improving the business environment is at the heart of the Buhari administration’s reform agenda. We are reinforcing our economic turn-around by a vigorous and active implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) so businesses operating in Nigeria can thrive and be competitive globally.

“For the first time, coordinated efforts across various levels of governments have been undertaken to make it easier to do business in Nigeria.
“I commend all stakeholders who worked with us to achieve this significant result, particularly the National Assembly, Lagos and Kano State Governments, and the private sector,” he said.

The statement further said before arriving at the decision, the World Bank highlighted five reforms it said made it easier to do business in Kano and Lagos, the two cities covered by the report in Nigeria last year.

The five reform areas identified by the bank were starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property, getting credit, and paying taxes.

UPDATE: How Tinubu’s first son, Jide slumped, died of heart attack
Jide, first son of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reportedly slumped and died yesterday evening.
Reports reaching TheNewsGuru.com from a reliable source close to the former Lagos Governor revealed that Jide suddenly collapsed and died around 9 pm.
However, after the incidence, close family members rushed him down to an hospital on Lagos Island where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that the tragic news was kept secret because Tinubu was in Abuja for the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of his party, APC.
Chairman of APC in Lagos, Otunba Henry Ajomale confirmed Jide’s death in a short statement he (Ajomale) issued on Wednesday.
Ajomale wrote: It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the Son of Our dear and esteemed Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement said.

Metuh: Testifying Will Expose Me To Criminal Trial – Jonathan

y dre11 (m ): 3:18am
Ade Adesomoju, Abuja
An application filed by former President Goodluck Jonathan before the Federal High Court in Abuja has revealed further reasons why he wants to be excused from appearing as a witness in defence of a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party , Olisa Metuh .
Metuh is standing trial on charges involving , among others, the N 400 m he ( Metuh ) received from the Office of the National Security Adviser in 2014 .
The former President in his motion challenging the subpoena issued on him , stated that with “ with several attempts by some persons in the current dispensation , to harass , intimidate and rubbish” his reputation and that of his wife , the witness summon issued on him upon Metuh ’ s request was a ploy to drag his name in the mud.
He also argued in the motion filed on his behalf by his lawyer , Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) , on Monday , that his testimony being sought in Metuh ’ s trial , would not only amount to an invasion of his right to privacy , it would also expose him to a criminal charge , penalty or forfeiture .
He recalled that there had been attempts to seize the properties and bank accounts of his wife , Patience , her relatives and her pet non -governmental organisation .
These are contained in an affidavit , filed in support of the motion filed on behalf of Jonathan by Ozekhome on Monday , seeking an order to set aside the subpoena ordering him to appear in court as Metuh ’ s witness.
As an alternative prayer, the motion sought an order directing Metuh to deposit with the court for Jonathan , the sum of N 1 bn to cover travelling expenses for himself and his security personnel from his home town, Otuoke in Bayelsa State, to Abuja .
A litigation secretary in Ozekhome’ s law firm , Mr. Usman Salihu, who deposed to the affidavit filed in support of the motion , said he spoke with Jonathan through a phone call in the presence of the lead counsel , Ozekhome, at about 10am on October 29 (Sunday ).
Salihu stated in the affidavit that although Jonathan had not been served with the subpoena , he but had read about it in the media.
He stated that Jonathan was shocked on learning of the witness summon issued against him at Metuh ’ s behest.
He also denied knowing anything about the charges preferred against Metuh by the EFCC.
Salihu stated, “ That he (Jonathan ) has read in the media of a witness summons issued by this honourable court requiring him to come . before the court for the purpose of testifying before the court, in charge No: FHC/ABJ /CR /05 /2016 .
“ That there have been several attempts by some persons in the current dispensation to harass , intimidate and rubbish his reputation and that of his wife .
“ That several attempts have been made to attach or seize the accounts and properties of his wife , her relatives and her pet , NGO . Most of the cases filed for and against such moves are currently pending before various courts across Nigeria .
“ That when he read about the summons issued on him at the behest of the 2 nd respondent , Olisa Metuh , he was shocked as he verily believes strongly that it forms part of the ploy to drag his name into the mire .
“ That he knows nothing pertaining to the seven counts for which Olisa Metuh , the first defendant in the charge is standing trial and consequently , has absolutely nothing to say as a witness before the court in respect thereof .
“ That he verily believes that the evidence sought to be obtained from him will amount to an invasion of his personal right to privacy and family life , as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution .
“ That he verily believes that the evidence sought from him , is likely to expose him to a criminal charge , penalty or forfeiture. ”
He further argued that the subpoena was vague and applied for and obtained on frivolous grounds .
Salihu added that the subpoena was obtained in bad faith as it was meant to embarrass the person of the applicant .
He argued that Metuh was not a personal aide or an appointee of the applicant herein and so could not have dealt with the President directly under any circumstance to warrant the invitation of the applicant to testify in the charge .
Salihu also submitted that there was no nexus between the applicant and Metuh and the charge for which Metuh was standing trial .
He also said he knew nothing about the charges preferred against Metuh .
At the Tuesday’ s proceedings , Metuh ’ s lawyer , Mr. Emeka Etiaba (SAN ), told Justice Okon Abang that his client ’ s request to call Jonathan as witness had been “ misconstrued outside this court. ”
He said pained by it , his client would sit with the legal team to review the motion filed by Ozekhome on behalf of Jonathan in order to take a position on it .
He said , “Efforts by the first defendant (Metuh ) to avail himself of necessary evidence in his trial has been misconstrued outside this court and the first defendant feels very pained because of the dangerous insinuation that has been ascribed to his decision to call evidence that will help him to go through this phase of his life .
“ May I finally submit that the first defendant will go through the application with us and take a decision on what to go with Ozekhome’ s motion . ”
Meanwhile , the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang , on Tuesday, fixed Wednesday (today ) for the hearing of Jonathan’ s motion.
The judge also fixed Wednesday for the hearing of a motion by Dasuki .
Dasuki ’ s lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN) , told the judge on Tuesday that his client ’ s motion for “ an adjournment of the proceedings relating to the subpoena issued on him pending the determination of the motion filed before the Court of Appeal praying the stay execution of the said subpoena . ”
But the judge said the outcome of his ruling on Dasuki ’ s application would determine whether or not to deliver a ruling on Jonathan ’ s motion.
He explained that if Dasuki ’ s motion succeeded , it implied that the matter would be adjourned as requested by the ex - NSA, and if it failed , the court would go ahead to deliver the ruling on Jonathan’ s motion.
Although, he ordered the Department of State Services to produce in court on Wednesday, Justice Abang directed that the outcome of the ruling on the ex - NSA’ s motion would determine if the detainee would testify during the proceedings .
But the judge declined an oral application by the counsel for Metuh ’ s co- defendant, Destra Investments Limited , Tochukwu Onwugbufor (SAN) , requesting an order of arrest of the Director General of the DSS , Mr. Lawal Daura, for failing to produce Dasuki in court on Wednesday .
After hearing the lawyers ’ submission in the case , Justice Abang held that it could not be established that Daura had flouted the court order directing him to produce Dasuki in court.
“ I cannot come to a conclusion that the Director General of DSS has flouted the court order to produce Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd . ), ” he ruled .
He insisted that the issue of Dasuki ’ s production should be handled administratively between the DSS and the EFCC.
He added , “ I will give further opportunity to the DG of DSS to produce Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd . ) in court. ”
With respect to Jonathan, the judge noted that since Jonathan had yet to be personally served with the witness summon, the option left was to serve him through substituted means as provided for in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.
The judge, however , said if Metuh was interested in bringing Jonathan to court, he (Metuh ) who was the one who requested the ex - President “ ought to know what to do . ”
But Ozekhome, after he was granted permission to speak on the Dasuki issue, despite the objection of prosecuting and defence lawyers on record in the case , supported the call for Daura’ s arrest , contending that the failure of the DSS to produce the ex - NSA in court on Tuesday, amounted to taking the court for a ride.
Justice Abang had on October 25, given the court bailiff five days to effect personal service of the subpoena on Jonathan and also directed the prosecuting counsel , Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, to persuade the management of the EFCC to liaise with the DSS to produce Dasuki in court on Tuesday (today ).
At the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, the court asked the prosecuting counsel about the situation of things.
In response, Tahir narrated the EFCC’ s efforts in complying with the court order, directing the EFCC to liaise with the DSS .
Tahir added that he had taken further steps to speak with the Legal Adviser of the DSS .
Tahir said the DSS ’ Legal Adviser informed him that Dasuki refused to be brought to court on the advice of his (Dasuki ’ s ) counsel.
In response, Metuh ’ s lawyer , Etiaba, urged the court to disregard Tahir’ s submission as it was not admissible because it amounted to hearsay and was not backed by any affidavit stating the facts .
But counsel representing Metuh ’ s firm , Destra Investments Limited and the second defendant, Chief Tochukwu Onwugbufor (SAN) , urged the court to order Daura’ s arrest .
While also arguing that Tahir’ s submission was inadmissible , Onwugbufor maintained that it was inconceivable that Dasuki could be more powerful than the DSS that was detaining him .
He argued that the DSS ’ conduct by failing to produce Dasuki in court was an act of disrespect to the court.
Onwugbufor thereby urged the court “ to apply the consequences provided by the law. ”
He said , “I do not think it lies in the mouth of the DSS to say that he (Dasuki ) refused to comply with the order of the court. ”
He asked the court to apply the provisions of section 244 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act by ordering Lawal ’ s arrest .
He said , “This is more contemptuous that the DSS fails to appear before the court to explain the situations in their environment .
“ My lord this is unacceptable .
“ If they have an atom of respect for the court, they would appear before your lordship this morning and I refer your lordship to section 244 of ACJA .
“ Your lordship has the power to issue an arrest warrant against DSS , ” adding that “ your lordship will now issue a warrant of arrest against the Director General of DSS in person . ”
When asked if the court could order Lawal ’ s arrest when the name of the DSS ’ DG was not specifically mentioned in the order directing that Dasuki be produced in court, Onwugbufor said , “I agree that his name is not mentioned but it has legal consequences and connotation . ”

Governors' Bid To Get Automatic 2019 Ticket For Buhari Fails At APC NEC Meeting
User Avatar Forum: Politics

A move by some governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress to use the platform of the National Executive Council of the party to endorse President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term failed on Tuesday.
The APC NEC is the second highest decision-making body of the party after the national convention.
Signs of what was in the offing became apparent early in the day as some governors known to be close allies of the President extended a campaign they began at an event organised by the Buhari Support Organisation in Abuja on Saturday.
In separate interviews with reporters at the APC National Secretariat, the venue of Tuesday’s NEC meeting, the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha; his Plateau and Kebbi counterparts, Simon Lalong and Atiku Bagudu, respectively said only Buhari had what it would take to fly the party’s flag in 2019.
The governors spoke before the commencement of the NEC meeting. Lalong said all the governors had agreed to work towards the President’s re-election in 2019.
He said, “Concerning the issue of sole ticket for Mr. President, I want to say that if Mr. President is performing, well-respected and carrying everybody along, all of us have resolved that we will work for him.”
He then asked a rhetorical question, “Do we have any other person that will challenge the President again? Whatever you call it, as far as we are concerned, we have one President and that is the ticket we will fly.
“I want to assure you that you won’t see a wrangling party after the meeting. From now onwards, it will be focused governance from Mr. President and all the governors from the states. We have all resolved to support Mr. President.”
His Kebbi State counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, who was also responding to a question on whether the governors had resolved to give the President an automatic ticket, said, “The performance of the President in the last two and half years suggests that if he wants to contest, l will certainly support him and l know that our party members feel the same about him.”
However, the governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura, expressed a slightly different opinion.
While responding to a similar question, he said, “For anybody to preempt the consensus opinion of the people is to say the least not fair to the vision of our party.
“I can tell you if there is anything that is clandestine, the President will not honour it. So, let’s wait and see as we embark on these meetings.
“I believe the consensus and the preponderance of opinion of all party members will be what is good for this country and we have already known the will of this country, the future of this country as we are now as a country is associated with one person, who is impeccable, who has the greatest amount of integrity that you can find in any human being around; so, your guess is as good as mine.”
Also speaking on the issue, Okorocha, who is also Imo State governor, said only a decision by President Buhari to contest the 2019 election could make him drop his personal presidential ambition.
He said, “If Mr. President wants to run for election, he will follow all the processes and if he is the person, we will all support him. In APC, there is no imposition of candidate.
“If Buhari is running, I will allow that man to continue but if he is not running, I won’t sacrifice my Presidential ambition. Mr. President is showing the right leadership and taking the very right steps and there is reconciliation going on even with nobody talking about it. There is the spirit of reconciliation and people understand their role.
“Our role is to make this party great and we are all trying to do that; but importantly, the governors have remained the pivot upon which this wheel of change has rotated so far. We have kept this party working and after this meeting, our congresses and convention will commence in the early part of next year and all party organs will be strengthened. We are in good mood and high spirits.”
During the meeting proper, one of the party members moved a motion asking that a vote of confidence be passed in the President and that he should be endorsed as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming presidential election.
This however failed to sail through. The party members felt that considering the fact that aggrieved members had yet to be pacified, doing so would escalate tension in the party and adversely affect its chances.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, confirmed this while speaking to newsmen after the NEC meeting.
He explained that the Tuesday’s NEC meeting was not about the 2019 elections but that there was a motion asking that first, a vote of confidence be passed in the President and then he should be endorsed as the party’s candidate for the 2019 election.
Dogara said, “Today’s meeting was not about 2019 elections. When we talk about 2019 in the context of the agenda you saw, we are talking about membership registration, the drive for membership and others. We are not talking about elections.
“Even though there was a motion on the floor that called for a vote of confidence in the President, some of us felt it was not necessary because there is nowhere that his confidence is shaking.
“But the motion was taken and passed. But there was a second leg to that motion which calls for the adoption of the candidature of the President, but it was deferred for now and no decision was taken because that is not the major reason why we are here.”
He further explained that the party had yet to agree on a date for its inaugural bi-annual national convention because details were still being worked out.
The Speaker noted that some of the grievances expressed by party members were normal in every family.
He stressed that there was no family without its internal squabbles; and noted the challenges were being handled and would soon be resolved.
Similarly, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, explained that a member of the party’s NEC made a move for a confidence vote in the President after a briefing by the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, about the activities of his ministry.
Abdullahi said, “One of the NEC members said we should move a motion passing a vote of confidence in Mr. President. There was no formal motion moved on the issue of second term for Mr. President.
“Somebody in the crowd shouted that we should move a motion and we don’t even know that member. But the motion that was formally moved was that NEC should pass a vote of confidence in Mr. President and that was after the brief given by the Minister of Agriculture, especially when he said that by 2018, Nigeria would have no need to import a single grain of rice. That is the context and I need you to understand that very well.”
He added, “The only discussion or conversation on 2019 was the activity of the party in 2018, especially the issue of convention. It was agreed that since we have all these activities lined up, including the mini-convention, congresses and elective convention, a small team be set up to put dates to these party activities up to 2018.
“There was no discussion about election of 2019 or who will be the party flag bearer. The committee will decide when all these activities will take place.”
Abdullahi also said a vote of confidence was passed in the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun National Working Committee of the party.

Your Vagina Should Smell And If Your Man Doesn't Like It DUMP Him, Gynecologist
User Avatar Forum: Romance
Posted by: Edoman - 11-01-2017, 12:25 PM - No Replies

Dr Jen Gunter has spoken out about men demanding or expecting their partner's vagina to have an artificial smell.
The Canadian gynecologist revealed she once dumped a boyfriend for complaining about the smell of her genitals.
Dr Gunter has urged women not to feel ashamed and feel they have to resort to buying harmful products that create artificial odours.
She says they upset the vagina's natural pH balance and leave you at a greater risk of infections like gonorrhoea and even HIV.
She's had a strong opinion on the recent trends for women cleaning their vaginas with cucumbers and Vicks' Vaporub.
She wrote: 'I once dated a guy who insinuated my vagina did not smell right.
For example, he thought my hair would be better if it were straight.
Sadly I took the bait, it wasn't.
'He thought I would look better if I dressed a certain way. Again I took the bait. I just felt worse.'
When it came around to telling me how my vagina could be better it finally clicked that this is a form of control that men often use.'
Fortunately I am an appropriately confident vagina expert and I dumped his sorry ass.
Dr Gunter went on to urge women to not fall into the same trap.
She said: 'If you think you have a medical condition, see a doctor.
If your partner insinuates that an artificial smell is preferable to the smell of a normal vagina they are the one who has an issue.'
Telling women how they can be better is a classic way of tapping into body image issues and honestly in my personal opinion it is a form of abuse.
Dr Gunter has previously stressed that women should be aware that douches are unnecessary and even dangerous as our intimate areas are designed to clean themselves.
She once tweeted: 'A vagina takes care of itself. Like a self cleaning oven.
However, it states that 'a strong vaginal odor for instance, a "fishy" smell might be abnormal and could indicate a problem.'
WHEN SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR OVER YOUR VAGINAL ODOR?
It is completely normal for your vagina to have a slight odor.
Abnormal vaginal odor that happens because of infection or another problem is usually associated with other vaginal signs and symptoms such as itching, burning, irritation or discharge.
Common causes of abnormal vaginal odor include:
*.Bacterial vaginosis, this is an overgrowth of normally occurring vaginal bacteria and the most common vaginal infection that causes a vaginal odor.
*.Poor hygiene
*.A retained or forgotten tampon left in place for several days
*.Trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted infection also can lead to vaginal odor.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea infections usually don't cause vaginal odors. Neither do yeast infections.
Less commonly, abnormal vaginal odor may result from:
*.Rectovaginal fistula (an abnormal opening between the rectum and vagina that allows feces to leak into the vagina)
*.Cervical cancer
*.Vaginal cancer
If you're concerned about an abnormal or persistent vaginal odor, see your doctor for a vaginal exam especially if you have other signs and symptoms such as itching, burning, irritation or discharge.
In the meantime, to minimize vaginal odor:
1.Wash your external genital area: During regular baths or showers, use a very small amount of mild, unscented soap and lots of water.
2.Avoid douching: All healthy vaginas contain bacteria and yeast.
The normal acidity of your vagina keeps bacteria and yeast in check.
But douching can actually upset this delicate balance.

UN bracing for 40,000 Cameroonian refugees in Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Conflicts

Thousands of people have fled Cameroon’s violence-hit anglophone regions into neighbouring Nigeria in recent weeks, the UN said Tuesday, adding it was preparing to help 40,000 refugees from the unrest.

The UN refugee agency and Nigerian authorities have so far registered some 2,000 Cameroonians who have fled into southeastern Nigeria since October 1, while another 3,000 were awaiting registration.

Even more people are believed to be trapped in forests on the Cameroonian side.

“We are preparing to help up to 40,0000,” UNHCR spokesman Babar Baloch told AFP, stressing though that the number of people fleeing into Nigeria could easily surpass that figure.

French-speaking Cameroon has a large anglophone minority which comprises around a fifth of its population of 22 million.
Gathered mainly in two regions, many English speakers say they suffer inequality and discrimination.

Resentment has fuelled a breakaway movement that on October 1 issued a symbolic declaration of independence for the putative state of Ambazonia, prompting a crackdown by President Paul Biya’s security forces that left dozens dead and many injured.

UNHCR said it was helping Nigerian aid workers distribute relief items in Nigeria’s Cross River State, including 40 tonnes of food, mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets and hygiene kits.

The agency warned that the new refugee crisis came at a time when Nigeria and Cameroon were already grappling with one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Some 2.5 million people in the Lake Chad region have already been displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency, which has killed at least 20,000 people since 2009.

In the latest attack blamed on the Islamists, at least 20 people were killed in a series of attacks in Cameroon and Nigeria on Monday.

It was George F.  Will writing for the Newsweek magazine some decades back who wrote, “What people learn from History is that people do not learn from History”.

Circa 1984, during the military administration of Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari and Brig. Tunde Idiagbon, doctors were disgraced, humiliated and maligned.  They were accused of stealing hospital drugs, diverting government patients to their private clinics, not attending to patients in the government hospitals because they were busy in their private clinics etc.  All these were lies and spurious allegations “to give a dog a bad name so as to hang it!”  The allegations were also products of envy and jealousy.

From time immemorial, many students who read science in the secondary schools aspire to be medical doctors.   I don’t have the exact statistics but my guess is that not more than about 10 per cent achieve this aim.  So, the ground is fertile for envy and jealousy among the unsuccessful   ones.  That explains one of the reasons for the incessant industrial actions in government hospitals.   Two main reasons why there are incessant industrial actions in government hospitals are because the government always fails to fulfil her promise to the doctors, and because the Joint Health Sector Union members are always claiming to be what they are not.  As someone rightly pointed out, the paramedics that are not doctors want to enter “through the back door”.  My advice is that any paramedic who wants to be the Chief Medical Director of a hospital should go to the medical school to qualify as a doctor, then, do a residency training programme in a medical specialty to be a consultant, then write enough papers to be made a professor, and then apply to be CMD of a hospital.  On the other hand, however, since the hospital gardeners, gatemen and cleaners are also “paramedics” because they all work in a hospital, why can’t they also be made the CMD of a hospital?   Pardon the digression but this is one of the main reasons for incessant industrial actions in government hospitals.

During this period of humiliation of the doctors in the early 80s, there was an exodus of highly trained world-renowned doctors from Nigeria to other countries.  In a way, the humiliation was a blessing in disguise for many doctors trying to make ends meet in Nigeria at the time.  An unspoken mantra among the doctors then was, “A nroju je eko obun, obun tun da eko re kere”, meaning that we are condescending to work here and you are still making life difficult unnecessarily.  Many Nigerian doctors therefore emigrated from Nigeria to countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the UK, and the USA where they were accepted warmly and accorded their rights.  The doctors also had job fulfilment because they had modern equipment to work with.  But most importantly they were well-remunerated.  One of such doctors in Saudi Arabia exclaimed, “From my first salary, I was able to buy a small brand new car and I still have money left to spend for the whole month!”

During this period, I know of a Nigerian child who sustained a severe burn injury.  The child was sponsored by a Nigerian philanthropic NGO to Harlem in New York City, USA to be treated.  The treating doctor there was an American-trained Nigerian plastic surgeon who was frustrated out of the UCH in Ibadan!

Because of this exodus of doctors from Nigeria, the quality of the health delivery system in the country plummeted.  It is just now that it is starting to improve gradually.  And now we want to set back the hand of the clock again!  How many of us can afford to seek health care in Saudi Arabia or the UK for months at the expense of the poor Nigerian taxpayers?

During the incessant industrial actions in the government hospitals, what will happen to those involved in road traffic accident, those attacked by armed robbers, those in pain and the pregnant women in labour if there are no private clinics to go to! And who are the best doctors to run these clinics? Of course, they are medical consultants and professors with university experience.

Even when government hospitals are not shut down, patients prefer private hospitals because the patients are treated humanely and with respect.  Private hospitals cannot afford the “luxury” of barking orders at a sick patient or insulting a patient for shouting because he is in pain or making it difficult for a sick patient to be quickly attended to by a doctor.

People should grow out of the puerile notion that doctors are minting money in their private clinics.  When one considers the cost of overhead in starting and maintaining a medical establishment, it is only a moron that will think that private medical establishments exist only to make money.  After all, it is easier to make money by getting a contract to cut grass in camps for displaced people.  In any case, if a doctor decides to spend his free time giving service to the sick instead of going about lobbying for contracts or running after women or hopping from bars to bars to enjoy himself, what is bad in that?

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 1ST NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨YOU’RE BLESSED.✨

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

The Christian is the blessed of the Lord, and part of what it means to be blessed is to be empowered to prosper. God has empowered you to prosper in everything you do. This is so wonderful, because it means there’s no dryness, stagnation, lack or unproductivity in your life. You’ve been chosen and ordained for a life of praise, joy, excellence, victory, and glory in Christ Jesus.

In John 15:16, the Lord Jesus said, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” He emphasized the life of fruitfulness, productivity, and ever-increasing glory we’ve received in Christ, a life of transcendental blessings! This is your heritage. You became an heir of God and a joint heir with the Lord Jesus Christ the day you were born again.

Some Christians look at their lives and situation to conclude that maybe they’re not really blessed after all. “I don’t have a car; I don’t have a house; I don’t have money; how could anybody say that I’m blessed?” they would query. What they don’t realize is that life is spiritual, and the spiritual world controls the physical realm.

If you’d first acknowledge and profess in agreement with God’s Word that indeed, you’re the blessed of the Lord, those things which you can see and perceive—the symbols of prosperity—such as houses, cars, a good job, money, etc., will necessarily manifest as the results of the blessing. They’re not the blessing, but the effect of the blessing. The blessing is an unseen power or force that causes good things to happen to you, with you, for you, and through you! It causes the glory of God to be seen in your life.

The Holy Spirit is inside you to teach you God’s Word and how to activate His blessings in your life. He’ll teach you to talk right, walk right and live right until those around you are overwhelmed by the results of God’s blessing upon your life.

PRAYER
Thank you blessed Father, for your grace and blessings upon my life! I prosper in all things. I’m fruitful in every good work. I produce fruits of righteousness, because I’m righteousness, a tree chosen of and ordained for a life of praise, joy, excellence, victory, and glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Deuteronomy 28:2-6 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. 3 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the city, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] in the field. 4 Blessed [shall be] the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed [shall be] thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 1ST NOVEMBER.
I affirm that the Lord has filled my life with good things and I am daily vitalized by the Spirit of God. My life is filled with the glory of God! I’m what God says I am, the head and not the tail, and I only go up and not down. I have Christ’s consciousness; therefore, the circumstances of life are subject to me because I have the dominion of Christ. My life is the testimony of God’s grace and infinite blessings. I have the grace to excel in everything. I live in divine health, prosperity, abundant joy, and indescribable peace. I am a participator in the divine experience; an associate of the God-kind. I am not an ordinary person; as the Father has life in Himself, so has He given unto me to have life in me. Everywhere I go, the effect of this life is apparent in everything that I do. Hallelujah. The life of God in me makes me an impregnable breed, not subject to sickness, defeat or failure. I am an absolute success and victor in life. I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all principalities, powers, might, and dominions. I am made for life and my profiting through the Word is manifest unto all. Glory to God.

NNPC invitation to NASS members for a "Special Dinner".
the scale of the scandal involved is immeasurable, given that Baru is due to appear before the Senate Adhoc Committee charged with probing the corruption allegations leveled against him by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, concerning the award of NNPC contracts.
Senator Omotayo Alasoadura said the members of the Senate rejected the invitation after it became public earlier today.

It is unclear whether Mr. Baru intended to pay from his own pockets for the dinner, along with the usual lavish gifts for his guests, who are internationally known to take second place to none in the greed sweepstakes.
To show that NASS members were privy to the dinner and may have backed out after SaharaReporters put the invitation on Twitter, NNPC explained through Twitter that the dinner had been postponed twice, revealing that members of NASS were privy to today's dinner date with the corporation and also revealed it had similar events for publishers in Abuja.
8. It is important to note that all the @NASS Core Committees relevant to Oil & Gas Industry have agreed on Oct 31 (today) for the Dinner

Diezani Planning To Escape Trial In UK – EFCC
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-31-2017, 03:04 PM - No Replies

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos not to order the return of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, from the United Kingdom to Nigeria.
The anti-graft agency described Diezani’s prayer to be brought back to Nigeria as a ploy to escape justice in the UK, where, according to the EFCC, she is being investigated for several financial crimes by the Metropolitan Police.
According to the commission, investigation by the Metropolitan Police in Diezani’s case had reached an advanced stage and her prosecution in the UK was imminent.
It, therefore, said it would not be in the interest of justice to grant Diezani’s application seeking to return to Nigeria.
The EFCC said this in a counter-affidavit it filed in opposition to Diezani’s application before Justice Rilwan Aikawa, wherein she is seeking an order compelling the Attorney General of the Federation to facilitate her return to Nigeria.
In the said application, which she filed through her lawyer, Mr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Diezani said she wished to appear before the Federal High Court in Lagos to defend a criminal charge bordering on alleged laundering of N450m, where her name was mentioned.
The main defendants in the charge are a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Dele Belgore; and a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman.
But opposing the application, the EFCC, in a counter-affidavit deposed to by one of its operatives, Usman Zakari, explained that when it began investigation into the case involving Belgore and Suleiman sometime in 2015, Diezani spurned its invitations to explain her role and rather absconded the UK.
It said subsequent efforts by its operatives to interview her in London were blocked by her lawyer in the UK, John Binns of BCL Solicitors, who contended that Nigerian investigators could not interview her as she was outside Nigeria’s jurisdiction.
The EFCC said Diezani’s bid to now return to Nigeria was nothing but a ploy to escape justice having realised that her trial might soon begin in the UK.
Zakari said, “That the applicant, seeing that the investigation by the Metropolitan Police had reached advanced stage and that trial in the instant charge before this honourable court is proceeding smoothly, had designed the instant application to distract and scuttle both her investigation and imminent prosecution in the United Kingdom the trial before this honourable court.
“That the applicant, who knows full well that she is on bail in the United Kingdom where she is being investigated for several financial crimes, and that she would not be able to leave that country in view of the ongoing investigation and imminent trial, is seeking the order of this honourable court for the charge before this honourable court to be amended to include her name on the face of the charge in order for her to escape from investigation and prosecution in the United Kingdom under the guise that she is coming to face her trial before this honourable court and also to scuttle the trial before this honourable court.”
Arguing the counter-affidavit on Monday, the EFCC lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, described Diezani’s application as a violent abuse of court processes and urged Justice Aikawa to reject same.
6
Belgore’s lawyer, Mr. Ebun Shofunde (SAN), also opposed Diezani’s application, contending that if the charge was amended to include Diezani’s name, the case would have to start afresh, a situation he described as unjust.
But Diezani’s lawyer, Ikpeazu, maintained that justice of the case demanded that her client should either be given the opportunity to defend herself or the charge sheet should be amended with her name being expunged.
Justice Aikawa adjourned till Wednesday for ruling.

47 years after, victims of Nigeria/Biafra civil war will be receiving N88billion from the Nigerian Government, which is also set out for completion of demining and destruction of abandoned explosives within the South-East, South-South and North Central regions of the country.
The Nigerian government said N38billion will be paid to contractors for total and complete demining and destruction of abandoned bombs and landmines within the regions, while it would pay N50billion compensation to “true victims” of the civil war that occurred between 1967 and 1970.
The decision which has been endorsed before the ECOWAS Court in Abuja on Monday, followed a suit marked ECW/CCJ/APP/06/12, which was filed before the ECOWAS Court on May 2, 2012, by one Vincent Agu and 19 others against FG and five others.
States which are to benefit from this are Anambra, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Ebonyi, Cross River, Abia, Enugu and Benue, as the Federal Government opted for an out-of-court- settlement of the matter after four years negotiation period.

‘Deposit N1billion and I’ll testify’ -Ex-President Jonathan tells Metuh

Following the witness summon issued against him by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan who is scheduled to appear today as a defence witness in the trial of former spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh, in an application filed yesterday by his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, wants the court to void the subpoena issued on him.
However ex-President Jonathan gave a condition with the provisions of Section 241(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 for him to appear before the court.
He asked the court to direct Metuh to deposit with the court, for and on his (Jonathan’s) behalf, N1 billion to cover travelling expenses for himself and his security personnel from his home town Otuoke in Bayelsa State, to Abuja and also for time that he might spend appearing before the court as President of Nigeria between 2010 to 2015.
According to his lead counsel Ozekhome, the evidence sought to be obtained from the applicant will amount to an invasion of his personal right to privacy, and family life as provided for in Section 37 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as Metuh was not a personal aid or appointee of the applicant herein and so could  not have dealt with the President directly under any circumstance to warrant the invitation of the applicant to testify in the charge.

'Does slavery and the selling of one's kinsmen, soul and heritage not have limits?' FFK blasts Tinubu for passing vote of confidence on Buhari
Yesterday APC National leader, Bola Tinubu told state house correspondents that he still has confidence in the leadership of President Buhari and that there is no truth to the rumor that they are both at loggerheads. Tinubu said this after his meeting with President Buhari.
'Fake news. I have confidence in this President. There is no doubt about that. We worked hard to bring about the government. There are certain things that are unpredictable and those are things that can lend itself to gossips, insinuations and all of that. But once you create leadership and is functioning, you don’t have to babysit that leadership unless there is a loss of confidence and I don’t have that. You know me. I’m not known to shy away from talking my mind and rebelling if it is necessary and taking charge of things that I believe are necessary. What is the myth in this leadership thing? What is cabal? Is a myth. We are the party of the people for the people and by the people and this is democratic environment. Each of us have our roles to play and that is why we are playing it. I don’t believe in the myth, I believe in confidence building, the trust that we have in the president' he said
FFK took to his twitter handle to blast Tinubu for passing a vote of confidence on President Buhari.

Sack Of Babachir & Oke: Buhari Should Be Impeached - PDP

Press Release:
ON THE SACK OF BABACHIR & OKE: ITS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, WE DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT BUHARI – PDP
The statement on the sack of Alhaji Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Ayo Oke, the former Director General of Nigerian Intelligent Agency (NIA) is a slap on the face of Nigerians. It is an insult on the-collective intelligence of our people who have waited patiently for the President’s reaction on the humongous act of corruption by two of his principal aides and this is totally unacceptable.
2. First and foremost, we had disagreed with the President last year when he decided to setup the panel headed by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to investigate the matter because we thought that was the wrong course of action to take. Ordinarily, cases of corruption or alleged cases of misappropriation of funds are supposed to be referred to institutions that are saddled with the responsibility to investigate and prosecute such matters which is the ICPC and the EFCC if there is any prima facie case against them.
3. But it appears not all animals are equal under the Buhari APC administration . some people are treated with kid gloves while others particularly those in opposition are subjected to all manner of harrowing experiences. One of the Senators of the APC, Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna State succinctly put the matter when he said that this administration uses deodorant to fight corruption when it comes to some APC members and President Buhari’s kitchen Cabinet and insecticides when it involves members of the opposition and those in the National Assembly.
4. It took the President almost one year to attend to this matter while the culprits were having a field day at home and enjoying themselves. Whereas, in the case of the opposition especially the PDP members, even when the evidence is flimsy they will be visited with multiple harassment and intimidation for months and weeks without proper trial.
5. We site the case of Sambo Dasuki who has been in detention for over two years and running even when many courts in Nigeria and the Ecowas Court have ordered for his release, but the President has fragrantly disobeyed these court orders which again are a violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is an impeachable offence. So the President cannot just sack Ayo Oke and Babachir Lawal and expects us to be clapping for him.
6. We believe that we are operating under a democracy and a Constitution that governs our affairs. To have subjected these people to different sets of rule and treatment is totally unacceptable. Nigerians are the same under the law and Babachir Lawal and Ayo Oke should not be tried by the Presidency while others are hounded by the EFCC and ICPC.
7. These actions of Mr. President are therefore a breach of his oath of office which he swore to defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to be fair and just to all Nigerians without any discrimination whatsoever. The action of the President is a gross violation of his constitutional oath and therefore constitutes a veritable ground for impeachment .Using and applying different laws to different people in the country is a direct assault on the constitution and the rule of law . Consequently, we call on the National Assembly to begin processes to impeach the President for breach of the Constitution and fragrance disobedient to the laws of Nigeria.
8. We totally reject these actions and the law should follow its full course on the issues of these officers. In other words, their case should be referred to the EFCC for proper investigation and trial, more so when the President has not told us what the report of the findings was. Nigerians are entitled to know the findings of the panel headed by the Vice President. The report should be made public since it is the people’s money that is involved.
9. The President has by his actions taken Nigeria to the level of a banana republic. We are not in a banana republic, this is the Federal Republic of Nigeria . Three successive governments of the PDP did not act in the manner President Buhari is acting.
10. There is no doubt that the sudden sack of the SGF and the DG of NIA is just a consequence of the backlash on the Abdulrasheed Maina saga. Up till now there’s no answer to the pertinent questions we have asked on the Maina saga. The government cares less about the feelings and opinions of Nigerians. This kind of arrogance is unprecedented in the history of this county. We again call for the arrest and investigation of the two Ministers involved in the return of Maina into the Civil Service, that is, the Minister of Interior, Bello Dambazau and Abubakar Mallami , the Attorney General of the Federation & Minister of Justice.
God bless the PDP! God bless Nigeria!!
Signed:
Prince Dayo Adeyeye
National Publicity Secretary
