David Moyes: West Ham name manager to succeed Slaven Bilic
User Avatar Forum: Sports World
Posted by: Edoman - 11-09-2017, 09:48 AM - No Replies

David Moyes said he has a point to prove and is "hungry to get things right" after being appointed as West Ham's new manager.
The former Everton and Manchester United boss replaces Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday with the Hammers in the relegation zone.
Moyes has been out of work since May, when he resigned as Sunderland manager after the club's relegation to the Championship.
West Ham joint chairman David Sullivan said the 54-year-old Scot is "the right man to turn things around".
He added: "We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David can get the best out of the players.
"He is highly regarded and respected within the game and will bring fresh ideas, organisation and enthusiasm.
"He proved with Everton that he has great qualities and we feel that West Ham United is a club that will give David the platform to display those qualities again."
Moyes' first game in charge will be at Watford in the Premier League on 19 November.
He added: "I've managed five clubs since starting out nearly 20 years ago at Preston and then going to Everton. My period at Manchester United is well documented and I then did something I have always wanted to do by experiencing management abroad, with Real Sociedad.
"It's only been the last job where I feel it wasn't a good move and I didn't enjoy the experience. So I'm hungry to make sure I get things right now.
"I don't know any manager who hasn't gone through negative periods, especially in the game today. I hope it gives me great strength and understanding of what is required."
What does Moyes face at West Ham?
The Hammers are 18th, having won just two Premier League matches in 2017-18 - and lost their first three league games of the campaign.
Bilic spent a reported £42m on players in the summer - including forward Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City for a club record £20m and former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen for £16m.
But West Ham have taken just nine points from 11 league matches, conceding 23 goals.
Following the Watford match, West Ham host Leicester City and go to Everton, before a difficult run in December which brings league games against leaders Manchester City, last season's champions Chelsea and Arsenal.
Later in the month, the Hammers travel to face the Gunners in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
West Ham's forthcoming fixtures
19 November: Watford (a); 24 November: Leicester City (h); 29 November: Everton (a)
3 December: Manchester City (a); 9 December: Chelsea (h); 13 December: Arsenal (a)
What is Moyes' track record?
Moyes, who started his managerial career at Preston North End, was voted LMA Manager of the Year three times during an 11-year spell at Everton from 2002 to 2013. In 11 full seasons, the Toffees finished in the top eight nine times.
He succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United boss on his fellow Scot's recommendation when he retired after a trophy-laden 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.
But despite signing a six-year deal with the then Premier League champions in 2013, he was sacked 10 months later with United seventh in the table.
Moyes went on to manage Real Sociedad in Spain but was sacked by the La Liga club after a year in charge in November 2015.
He took over at Sunderland in July 2016 before quitting in May 2017 after the Blacks Cats were relegated, having finished bottom of the Premier League.
Former West Ham striker Dean Ashton told BBC Radio 5 live that Moyes was "the safe option if you're thinking about grinding out until the end of the season and safety".
But he added: "As a player, David Moyes coming in wouldn't inspire me."
'Belittling, disrespectful, everyday sexism'
During his time at Sunderland, Moyes attracted controversy for telling BBC reporter Vicki Sparks she might "get a slap" in March, leading to a Football Association charge for improper conduct and a £30,000 fine.
He said he "deeply regrets" making the comment and later apologised to Sparks, who did not make a complaint.
Writing in her Sun column in April, West Ham's vice-chairman Karren Brady said Moyes' words were "just another brilliant example of the pressure women are under to laugh off these everyday moments of sexism as a joke".
She added: "The threat to give someone a slap, no matter how you look at it, is aggressive. It is not banter. And it is not OK.
"I would like to think that any man who worked for me - no matter how wound up they feel by a reporter who is simply doing her job well - would not threaten to slap a woman.
"One of things I find most objectionable in this whole story is his reference to Sparks as being a 'girl', when he said he had apologised to her.
"She's not a girl. She is a woman and a professional. To call someone a girl is belittling, disrespectful and a real indication that you don't see her as an equal.
"Hopefully the penny has dropped for him that it's not OK to patronise, intimidate and threaten women and treat them as if they are imposters in a man's world."
Analysis
BBC Sport's Simon Stone
Moyes' arrival at West Ham has not been greeted with overwhelming enthusiasm by the club's support, something owners David Sullivan and David Gold are aware of.
However, it is the Scot's diligence on the training ground that is understood to be the major attraction in the decision.
West Ham spent in excess of £40m in the summer to sign former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, Manchester City pair Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart, and Stoke's Marko Arnautovic, who cost a club record £20m.
But, as a collective, West Ham have badly underperformed.
Sullivan and Gold feel they need someone to galvanise the current group of players rather than spending more money on completely revamping the squad.
What do the fans say?
Graeme Howlett, editor of the West Ham fans' website Knees Up Mother Brown
The fans seem quite unanimous in that they are not particularly keen to see Moyes come in. They would prefer to see someone more progressive.
I suspect there will be an awful lot of criticism for the board, who are already under intense pressure following the move to the Olympic Stadium, which has not gone down well.
Various reasons have been mentioned, including his record at Sunderland, where he came in at a similar position and failed to keep them in the Premier League. There was also the incident with the female reporter which has been mentioned a few times.

JAMB Bans Pens, Wrist Watches At UTME; Begins Sale of Forms This Month
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-09-2017, 09:45 AM - No Replies

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), organiser of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), is to commence the sale of forms for 2018/2019 admission process this month. It has also banned the use of wrist watches and pens during the conduct of its 2018 test.
The board’s Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede disclosed this to newsmen on the sideline of the sensitisation workshop for Computer Based Test (CBT) centre owners on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to him, the workshop was to appraise the registration and conduct of the 2017 examination.
“What we are doing here today is to appraise the registration and conduct of our past examination and we have taken some lessons from our experience.
“To this end therefore we have introduced some measures that will further add to the integrity of the registration process as well as the conduct of the examination proper.
“For instance, we discovered during the conduct of the last examination that some electronic devices such as pens, wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice.
“So, for next year, we have banned the use of wristwatches and pens by candidates and other persons in the examination hall.
“We are also going to introduce some detection devices to ensure that those who plan to cheat in the examination hall are frustrated, as we will also jam (communication network) of the centres,” he said.
Oloyede noted that the sale of the registration document for the 2018 UTME would commence before the end of November.
“We are planning to meet with all stakeholders on Nov. 15 and the sale of the registration document will definitely commence before the end of this month.
“But before that, we expect candidates to go and download our app, go to our website and download the syllabus and brochure, so that they can now study the process.
“This is in order to minimise the errors that usually occur during the registration process,” he said.
The JAMB boss added that no fewer than 617 centres have been accredited nationwide for the exercise.
“We are still considering about 60 more centres as we have their applications waiting for consideration.
“However, a total of 72 centres nationwide have earlier been delisted owing to their involvement in some infractions and they remain delisted.”
On the board’s plan to construct mega CBT centres for its examinations, Oloyede said: “The mega centre plan is still on, we said that last year.
“But the process of planning will take sometime.
“There will be design, there will be contact with private operators, just as there will be advertisements and also due process will be followed,” he said.
Earlier, Oloyede called for the support of the CBT centre owners in checking anti-examination activities capable of compromising the examination.
“While thanking you for your deligence during the 2017 examination, we want to seize this opportunity to inform you of the flagging off of the 2018 excercise.
“We will like to also assure you that we will make use of the best CBT centres in the coming examination.
“You will be culpable if you do not expose any CBT centre that is doing what is evil because they will attract condemnation from all of us.
“It is on this premise that we are appealing that you assist us in identifying the bad eggs among you and ensuring that they do not participate in our activities,” he said.
According to him, monitoring starts from the time of arrival of the centre owners to the workshop.
He added that during the 2018 UTME examination, the board would include some other requirements for CBT centres.
“We are not going to accept wireless CCTV cameras. Any examination conducted in any CBT centre that we cannot monitor from Abuja will not be paid for.
“The onus is on you to ensure that your CCTV are working and must be on and no CBT centre is allowed to sell any kind of materials under the guise of past questions.
“We will also not tolerate candidates leaving the centre to go out to use the toilet. It is expected that all accredited CBT centres have an in-house convenience,” Oloyede said.

Rabah Madjer: "Nigeria Is A Team Of Benchwarmers"

2018 world cup:"Nigeria is a team of benchwarmers,"- Rabah Madjer Algerian coach
Algeria’s new coach, Rabah Madjer has described the Super Eagles as a team of benchwarmers, which has only one regular player in its squad.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, Madjer, who was one of the stars of the great Algerian side of the 1980s, said the Super Eagles should not pose any threat to the North Africans because it is a team with many players who don’t get to play for their European clubs.
“I have studied the Nigerian team, apart from Iwobi, every other player is mostly a substitute for his team in Europe, but that doesn’t mean they will not be at the level to face us.
“The game against Nigeria is not a friendly match for me…to me it is the first game of the qualifiers for the 2018 African Cup of Nations in Cameroun,” he said.

'We have taken Nigeria out of hell' Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the victory of his party, APC in the presidential election in 2015 signified the exit of Nigeria from hell and that nobody should pray for the return to power of the former ruling party, PDP. In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, the minister said the APC is not scared of the the possibility that PDP would return to power in 2019.
'Now, as to whether we are afraid that the PDP would win, I can tell you absolutely, we couldn’t even contemplate it because it would be a tragedy for Nigeria to fall back into the hands of PDP. Look, we have very painstakingly taken this country through hell, I mean, they dropped us in hell, and we are taking you people out of hell, we can’t come back to Egypt. No, I am serious, it is not about APC, it is about President Muhammadu Buhari, it’s like the kind of revelations that are coming out, the kind of rot, you want those people to come back and preside over the affairs of Nigeria again. Now, let me ask you for instance what would happen to the investigations that have been held if the PDP should win in 2019? They would be swept under the carpet' he said https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/11/...ammed.html

We can't crumble despite your continuous harassment' PDP tells APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics

https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/11/...apc-2.html The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wish to draw the attention of Nigerians to the continued harassment of our party members by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Muhammadu Buhari, for no justifiable reason.
The latest needless onslaught against our party members is the plan by the APC government at the centre to incarcerate 50 members of our party before the end of this year with a view to using their arrest to deceive Nigerians that the failed anti-corruption war is still on course.
The dirty job we are aware, have been handed over to the compromised anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
Already, five members of our party have been illegally arrested and detained by EFCC without any charge preferred against them.
Who the rest 45 members to be picked up are, we cannot say in the immediate. However, we are by no means scared of the persecution by the Buhari administration as we are sure that the daylight is about to break after the dark night of the APC administration.
We wish to state clearly that what is ongoing under the Buhari administration is not a fight against corruption but an attempt at using members of the PDP as scapegoats and cover up for the ineffectual anti-corruption agenda of the current government.
The current wave of arrests, therefore, has nothing to do with the failed anti-corruption war but everything with 2019 elections. Having failed on all it’s major election planks and with nothing to show for its over thirty months in office, the APC government has come to the conclusion that the only way to prevent its inevitable defeat at the polls in 2019 is to hound, harass, intimidate and suppress members of our party into submission.
However, we wish to state clearly that irrespective of what the APC government do in an attempt at bringing the PDP down to its knees, we shall remain irrepressible and will not bow to any tyranny. The APC has already thrown away it’s chances in the 2019 elections by its non-performance. No amount of intimidation and harassment of the opposition will improve its fortunes.
We call on all men and women of goodwill to rise up to challenge the invidious attempt of the APC government to turn Nigeria into a gestapo state and undermine our hard earned democracy on the altar of political desperation.

Femi Falana writes to President Buhari over El-Zakzaky’s continued detention
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-09-2017, 08:57 AM - No Replies

Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer has appealed to President Buhari to order the immediate release of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El Zakzaky.
In a letter dated November 7, 2017 and addressed to the President, Falana recalled that a Federal High Court in Abuja had in December 2016 ordered the release of El-Zakzaky’s and his wife from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The court, according to him, also awarded them reparation of N50million and directed the Federal Government to provide a temporary accommodation for them, “since it was established that the Nigerian Army and the Kaduna state government had burnt and demolished their private residence located at Zaria in Kaduna State.”
He also reminded President Buhari of his new year’s message in which he urged members of the Shia community to embrace peace and obey the laws of the land.
The letter partly reads, “At the same time Your Excellency directed all law enforcement agencies in the country “to treat them humanely and according to the rule of law.”
“But in utter contempt of the aforesaid orders of the Federal High Court and in total disregard of Your Excellency’s directive, the State Security Service has refused to release the couple from illegal custody. Thus, the dangerous impression has been created by the State Security Service that the federal government does not operate under the Rule of Law.”
Falana further accused the DSS of denying the Shiites’ leader access to medical treatment abroad, despite the fact that he had lost one of his eyes.
“Although Sheik Elzakzaky lost his left eye while he is on the verge of losing the right eye sequel to the brutal treatment meted out to him by the armed soldiers, the SSS has denied him foreign medical treatment recommended by the local specialists who had attended to him. “Even the alternative arrangement put in place by the family of the Sheik to bring eye specialists from abroad to treat him in custody has equally been rejected without any legal justification,” he lamented.
Falana further demanded the immediate release of El-Zakzaky and his wife since the panel set up to investigate the incident has not recommended that they should be prosecuted indefinitely.
He said: “It may interest Your Excellency to know that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry which was set up by the Kaduna State government to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the violent attack unleashed on the Shiites in December 2015 did not recommend the indefinite incarceration or prosecution of Sheik Elzakzaky and his wife for any criminal offence whatsoever.
“Therefore, they should be allowed to regain their fundamental right to personal liberty guaranteed by Section 35 of the Constitution and Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and People Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act (CAP A10) Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

I Won't Answer Your Questions, IGP Tells Senators
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-09-2017, 08:24 AM - No Replies

“I decided to appear before the committee as a mark of respect for the Senate,” the IGP said.
Senator Isa Misau had accused the IGP of pocketing the sum of N10 billion illegal cash monthly.
Idris who was accompanied by senior police officers told the senators that he would not answer any question as the matter was in court.
Quoting Order 41(7) and 53(5) of the Senate standing rule, the IGP maintained that the Senate cannot interfere or make pronouncement on a matter that was already in court.
His words: “I’m represented by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Alex Izyon. He is going to refer to as my true response on allegations made by Senator Isa Misau against me.
“I will not make any other comment or answer any question in respect to the allegation and various civil and criminal cases pending in the law court. More especially, when the Senator has already been arraigned in court in respect of these matters. I decided to appear before this Senate committee on the allegations out of the high respect I have for the Senate and my penchant for the rule of law.
“Futhermore, it is expected that the Senate and the committee will refrain from making reference to the issue as it would be against order 41 (7) and 53 (5) of the Senate standing order 2015 as amended,” he added.
Counsel to the IGP, Alex Izyon (SAN) said responding to questions would amount to subjudice as the matter was already before a court of law.
Izyon urged members of the committee to study the documents earlier submitted to them by the IGP.
In his National Assembly, Senator Francis Alimikhena noted that the matter was already before the committee before the IGP approached the court.
Alimikhena reiterated that the court could not prevent the committee from carrying out its constitutional duty of investigation.
In his remarks, Senator Ita Enang urged the lawmaker to apply the multi-door approach to resolving the matter.
The committee adjourned the matter.

Festus Keyamo: "Bobrisky Can't Be Arrested Just For Saying He Is Gay"
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-09-2017, 08:21 AM - No Replies

@GISTMORE
After news broke that self-acclaimed Nigerian male barbie, Bobrisky, was arrested last night, many Nigerians linked his arrest to a now deleted post in which he stated that he is gay. Even after our exclusive interview with Bobrisky where he alleged that serial entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, was behind his arrest, some Nigerians still held on to their belief that his arrest was because he publicly acknowledged he is gay.
LIB reached out to frontline lawyer and human rights activist, Festus Keyamo, to find out if it is legal for Bobrisky, or anyone for that matter, to be arrested for publicly stating that they are gay. Here is what he had to say
'For me, you have to be caught in the act. Yes, it may amount to corrupting public moral when you go on social media to announce you are gay but we are talking about the law here and not sentiment and if we are talking about the law, the person has to be caught in the act. Except the person says he is gay and refers to a particular gay act that can be verified. For example, if Mr. A comes out on social media to say I am a thief, he cannot be arrested because his declaration that he is a thief cannot be linked to a particular act of stealing. Anybody can come out to say I am a kidnapper but if you do not link that declaration to a particular incident that happened, that person cannot be arrested. So also, if a person comes out to say I am gay and you can't link it to a particular gay act that actually happened or that he was caught in the act, I think it is wrong for such a person to be arrested. You can only be arrested when you consent to the act that can be verified. He can be arrested for saying that he is gay but it must be linked to a gay act that happened. You cannot be arrested for just saying you are gay'

Morning Devotional For Thursday 9th November

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 9TH NOVEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ VICTORY BY THE WORD✨

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16).

James 1:18 says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” Being a Christian, you must study and meditate on the Word, because your life came from the Word of God; you’re an offspring of the Word; therefore, you can only be sustained by the Word. Stay in the Word, for everything in life is sustained by its source.

Not to stay in the Word is to starve your spirit of the material it needs to survive, grow, and function normally. The development of your spirit is to the degree of how much of God’s Word you ingest. The more of God’s Word you receive into your spirit, the more your spirit is educated and built for victory and success.

Success in life isn’t dependent on the number of degrees you bagged in college; it’s in the amount of God’s Word you know and put to work! This is why you must know and live by the Word. Build your faith with the Word. The world today is plagued with all kinds of crises, economic problems, etc., and many are confused, wondering when the crises will end. But if you have the Word in you, you have nothing to fear.

God’s Word is alive and full of power; that means it’s active, operative and effective. Hence, it doesn’t matter what the case is, if you’d meditate on the Word, it’ll produce in you and for you the desired results. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8). The Word in your spirit and in your mouth will make you a victor for life.

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, I’m fulfilled, knowing my roots are in your Word. Therefore, your Word is my daily meditation, morning, noon, and night. I walk in health, prosperity, victory, and success continually, because my faith is in the Word. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY: Isaiah 55:10-13 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it. 12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap [their] hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign [that] shall not be cut off.

I affirm that I am living in the harvest days of my life. The Spirit of the Lord has begun to magnify me in the sight of all men. I am “kinging” in life, displaying the virtues and perfections of Christ! The glory of the Lord is on me in a greater dimension; therefore, everywhere I go, and in all that I do, I exude excellence. I am set on the course on which I must follow, and I will accomplish my assignment here on earth with great joy. Daily, my heart burns with great passion for the Gospel. I am dedicated to a life that is meaningful, a life directed to impact my world and the regions beyond with the power of God's Word. Hallelujah! I live each day in absolute victory because I am born of God and greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. Even now, I experience exaltation, fruitfulness, peace, prosperity, and productivity in every area of my life, because God has perfected all that concerns me, in line with His will and destiny for my life.

Hundreds of protesters on Wednesday afternoon occupied the entrance of the National Assembly to show solidarity with the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
The convener of the protest, Gloria Ugbeji, said such solidarity march is important based on the various reforms she said the police chief has brought to the service.
She said it is important for Mr. Idris to be “left alone to focus on what he is doing.”
Mr. Idris was summoned by a Senate committee probing corruption allegations against him.

I recall our public outrage when during the previous administration, then President rather than acknowledge deaths in a bomb blast tragedy was busy at a Campaign Ground. This FG of Pres @MBuhari NOW REPEATS SAME with our 26 girls that drowned in Mediterranean Sea. What Changed??

Trump Denounces Cruel Dictatorship Of N. Korea
[Image: donald%2Btrump1.jpg]
US President Donald Trump slammed North Korea’s “cruel dictatorship” and the severe political oppression inflicted by the regime in a speech to Seoul’s parliament on Wednesday.

“Far from valuing its people as equal citizens, this cruel dictatorship measures them, scores them, and ranks them based on the most arbitrary indication of their allegiance to the state,” Trump said in the address.

“Those who score the highest in loyalty may live in the capital city. Those who score the lowest starve,” he said in the first address to the national assembly in Seoul by a US head of state in 24 years.

The Demilitarized Zone that splits the Korean peninsula in two was, Trump said, “the line that today divides the oppressed and the free”.

The North’s ruling Kim family has ruled the impoverished, isolated country with an iron fist and pervasive personality cult for three generations, showing no tolerance for political dissent.

The regime has for decades been criticised for a range of rights abuses including torture, rape and execution of perceived critics or those trying to flee the country.

It is also known to operate multiple prison camps across the country where hundreds of thousands languish under forced labour and starvation.

Trump noted many cases of such abuses, including “a nine-year-old boy… imprisoned for ten years because his grandfather was accused of treason.”

“The horror of life in North Korea is so complete, that citizens pay bribes to government officials to have themselves exported abroad as slaves,” he said.

Kevin Hunter was seen picking up Sharina Hudson, 32, from an office building in Manhattan after a workout in the city before driving back to New Jersey together on Monday afternoon.
The two have been engaged in a 10-year long affair with Hunter moving the younger woman into a $765,000 home in New Jersey and Hudson wearing a large diamond ring on her wedding ring finger.

Foods For Healthier Vagina, Better Sex Life
[Image: SALMON.jpg]

Sydney nutritionist Lyndi Cohen has revealed the foods women should eat that are beneficial for their vaginas. The report was published in Daily Mail UK Online.

From Greek yoghurt and salmon to green tea and garlic, these are some of the nutritional – and surprising – foods we should be adding to our diet.

“It’s all about our organs,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“The nutrients we eat and the foods we eat impacts our health and vagina – and how it functions. Maintaining our pH level is very important.

“Eating the right food will keep the vagina lubricated, boosts your libido and even mood. Good mood means it will boost your libido.”

“There are three nutrients to look out for – Vitamins A, E and C,” she said.

“These nutrients are found in bright and colourful fruits and vegetables.”

Cohen suggested eating sweet potatoes, carrots and anything orange are high in Vitamin A – and libido-boosting foods to add to our diet.

“The vitamins helps with circulation, lubrication and libido – and it increases your ability to orgasm,” she explained.

Bananas, sweet potatoes and wholegrain are also foods to add to your diet, she said.

“Cauliflower is surprisingly good for our diet too,” Cohen said.

“The foods are all good for mood swings, and we feel more inclined to having sex. Women are very emotional so these foods help combat our emotions.’
[Image: tomato_and_garlic_penne-1-1062x598.jpg]

Another food she recommends is tomatoes because it contains a high level of lycopene – a ‘powerful’ antioxidant that helps prevent diseases.

“Tomatoes are a strange one but it contains good lycopene which helps reduce heart disease and cancer,” she said.

“It increases circulation so it helps men combat erectile dysfunction – and also helps women reach climax during sex.” Cohen said eating Greek yoghurt everyday was great for maintaining vaginal health because it contains probiotics

Surprisingly, garlic is a great ingredient to add to our diet because it’s filled with antioxidants that helps prevent vaginal problems, Cohen said.

“Garlic is link to circulation and it reduces risks of infections,” she explained.

Cohen said eating Greek yoghurt everyday was great for maintaining vaginal health because it contains probiotics that helps fight off bad bacteria.

“The reason why Greek yoghurt works is because it contains probiotics – so it’s great for improving our immunity,” she said.

“Women should be having Greek yoghurt every day for a healthy vagina.”

Cohen explained the anti-inflammatory compounds and Omega-3 found in salmon helps reduce menstrual pain and any discomfort you may have

Cohen explained the anti-inflammatory compounds and Omega-3 found in salmon helps reduce menstrual pain.

“Salmon is a go-to health food because it helps reduce any menstrual pain or discomfort you may feel,” she explained. “It also helps you feel relaxed and connected with your partner.”

Green tea contains antioxidants that can reduce bladder inflammation, she said. Cohen also suggested other drinks to add to your diet that are great for vaginas – kombucha and kefir [fermented milk] drinks.

“Getting enough hydration – so the classic water is the key to flushing out toxins in our body,” she said. She said the easiest way to see if you need to be hydrated more is by looking at the colour of your urine.

“If your urine is light yellow, it’s a good sign,” she said. “But if it’s dark yellow and you can smell it, it’s a sign you need to hydrate more.”

What to avoid? “Anything high in sugar,” Cohen said. “These foods create imbalance to your mood and hormones – so this affects your sex drive and how you connect with your partner. Be mindful of the sugary drinks and lollies you consume.”

She explained highly processed and high fat foods should also be avoided.

“High fat foods can leave you feeling bloated and sluggish and it’s not food for the libido,” she said. “I wouldn’t recommend fast foods and fried foods. You need hydrated foods so more fruits and vegetables – and avoid food with high salt content.”

Fani-Kayode was reacting to comments credited to the VP, for accusing former President Goodluck Jonathan of withdrawing large sums of money from the nation’s treasury two weeks to the 2015 Presidential election.
Osinbajo had on Monday during the legislative economic summit themed “Legislative Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development”, described incredible things Jonathan did before 2015 general elections as unbridled waste and corruption.
He specifically said that seeks before the 2015 elections, the government of Goodluck Jonathan, ostensibly doled out N100billion and $295million in cash within two weeks.
But in a series of tweets on Tuesday, the PDP chieftain, lambasted the Vice President, telling him to leave former President Jonathan alone.

When mother is away, my uncles take turns raping me and my 8-yr-old cousin’ — 13-yr-o

When mother is away, my uncles take turns raping me and my 8-yr-old cousin’ — 13-yr-old girl
A 13-year-old girl, yesterday, disclosed how her uncles— Saviour Philip, 35, and Paul Philip, 17—took turns to rape her in their one-room apartment on Olowolagba Street, off Odunsi, Bariga area of Lagos State.
She also revealed that one of the suspects also assaulted her eight-year-old cousin, while their mother was away.
Vanguard gathered that the victims and their mother moved into the suspects’ apartment five months ago, due to their parents’ inability to get an accommodation. The accommodation problem also forced the children to drop out of school.
Speaking with Vanguard, the teenager disclosed that her uncles usually assaulted her sexually whenever her mother was away.
‘He threatened to kill me’
According to the Junior Secondary School 2 student,

Paul started it. He usually did it in the afternoon when my mother and other tenants were away. I was arranging my siblings’ clothes one afternoon when he came from behind, lifted me and dropped me on the floor. “He covered my mouth when I wanted to shout. When he was done, he threatened to kill me if I told my mother or anyone.
“When he is finished with me, he would call my little cousin inside and asked me to stay outside. At times, I would see him dipping his fingers into my cousin’s private part.
“Paul is supposed to be in SSS 3, but he said that he didn’t like going to school, particularly on the day he wanted to do it.
“Saviour also did it. But in his case, he penetrated my anus. The first day he did it, I shouted because of the pains, but he covered my mouth with clothes. When he was done, he brought out juju (charms) and said that he will invoke it to kill me if I tell anyone.
“I refused to tell anyone because I was afraid to die. Even when I threatened to tell my mother, Paul boasted that she will not do anything to him and that if I did, they would chase us out of the house.
Why I exposed them’
I was forced to open up two weeks ago after my mother beat me because of Paul. She overheard me insulting Paul.
Instead of asking me why, she picked up a heavy stick and started beating me with it and at the same time, reminded me that Paul was not just my relation, but my senior as well.
Out of annoyance, I summoned up courage and told my mother that the reason why I was rude to Paul was because he and his elder brother had been sleeping with me.
At that point, she held Paul’s shirt, shook him and at the same time demanded to know how true my claim was.”
Her mother, Ekaete, corroborated the victim’s claim, adding that the case was reported at the Bariga Police Division, consequent upon which the suspects were arrested.
Mother beaten
She stated that while at the station, her twin sister, whose eight-year-old daughter was later discovered to also have been assaulted, visited the suspects’ mother’s shop to report the matter, only to be beaten up.
She also stated that she only got to know about her niece’s assault at the hospital.

According to her, “I did not know that my eight-year-old niece was also assaulted until we got to Mirabel Centre, where my daughter was referred to for treatment.
She said Saviour was always ‘fingering’ her and the result of the test at the hospital affirmed that. “The suspects are my distant relatives. I moved into their apartment with my daughter, niece and unborn baby, pending when we will get an accommodation, while my husband was putting up with his friend.
“This wicked act started in June, when I went to deliver in the hospital. I never suspected they could do such a thing to these children each time I left them in their care because we are related.”
The case was transferred to the Gender Unit of the state’s Police Command, from where the suspects were charged to Magistrate Court 2, Ikeja, yesterday.
They could, however, not meet the bail condition of N400,000 each, given by Magistrate Osunsanmi. Consequently, Paul was remanded at a forester home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while Saviour was remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons, with the case adjourned to December 4.

: Mansur Dan-Ali, Danjuma Nanfo & LYM Hassan In $1.4 Million Contract Scandal
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-08-2017, 02:28 PM - No Replies

by Malik Abdulganiy,
President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign has been bedevilled by scandals and rumours of scandals in recent times.
The list has just been lengthened by a contract scandal in the ministry of defence which has landed a brigadier-general in military court.
At the centre of the latest development are Mansur Dan-Ali, a retired brigadier-general and minister of defence, Danjuma Nanfo, the immediate past permanent secretary in the ministry, and LYM Hassan, a brigadier-general and coordinator of peacekeeping.
Hassan is now in detention and facing court-martial, TheCable understands.
At the court martial, which began on October 30, 2017, Dan-Ali, Nanfo, and Hassan have disclosed how money was shared from a $1.4 million contract without the job being executed, TheCable has learnt.
The contract was for the relocation and refurbishment of Level 2 Ministry Hospital under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) following a directive from the UN.
A UN Level 2 hospital is a second line or “brigade/sector” level surgical facility for limited specialist expertise and limited surgical capabilities, including life, limb and organ-saving surgeries.
Under the UN system, 18 Level 2 hospitals are being operated by troop-/police-contributing countries.
Countries get paid by the UN for the use of their facilities.
Nigeria’s Level 2 hospital was established to support the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI) in 2008.
The hospital was later relocated to its temporary site in Timbuktu in 2013 to support MINUSMA.
For failing to meet the August 2017 UN deadline for a new location, Nigeria has been asked by the global body to withdraw its remaining contingent to the United Nations African Mission in Darfur (UNIMID) because of poor holdings of the contingent-owned equipment (COE).
INTERNATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT
The problem started for Nigeria’s full-fledged Level 2 hospital when the UN asked Nigeria to move it from the present temporary camp at the Timbuktu airport, Mali, to the more secure new UN Super Camp, also in Timbuktu.
With the completion of the permanent camp of MINUSMA in Timbuktu, the UN requested all its establishments to relocate to the new Super Camp.
Trouble started when, in February 2017, the ministry of defence awarded a contract for the refurbishing and relocation of the hospital to a contractor who had zero experience in installation of Level 2 hospital.
The procurement was done without the initial due process of the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).
According to documents seen by TheCable, the controversial contract was awarded after the MOD had received a presidential approval in the name of another contractor.
The initial approval followed a memo from the minister of defence on July 21, 2016 to President Muhammadu Buhari requesting fund for the relocation of the Nigerian Medical Level 2 Hospital “deployed to African Union MINUSMA in Mali”.
The approval was contained in a memo, dated November 9, 2016, from the president’s chief of staff to the minister of defence.
ILLEGAL CHANGE OF CONTRACTORS
Nothing was heard of the president’s approval until three months later when an award letter dated February 2, 2017 emanated from the procurement department of the MOD to a new firm not initially involved in the initial contract process.
The new contract had a completion period of two months.
The contract till date has not been executed, as only part of the hospital under MINUSMA was dismantled and left at the current location.
The initial cost of the contract for the refurbishing and relocation of the hospital as approved by Buhari was $1,464,750.
The contract for execution of the same was awarded by the MOD procurement department for $1 million, short by $464,750.
But the favoured contractor reportedly ran back to tell the ministry officials that the contract could not be executed unless there was a variation sum to the tune of over $500,000.
However, the refurbishment and relocation contract was awarded by MOD with express specification that “the contract price is fixed and no request for variation will be entertained.
It is expected that you will relocate the items in good conditions and perform to the highest standard all the obligations under the contract and to remind you also that it is not transferable”.
According to a source in the ministry, the second approval is suspect because “there is no way the president will give approval to the same contract twice”.
AND NIGERIA LOSES TO RWANDA
The second approval was possibly made up to cover up the tracks of those involved in the shady deals which has cost Nigeria — the UN has asked Rwanda to get ready to deploy another Level 2 hospital at the Super Camp.
The UN, through the United Nations Security Council, had at its meeting with troop/police contributing countries 28 January 2017 in New York, expressed an urgent need to relocate the hospital to the Super Camp.
All the establishments had a deadline of second week of August 2017 to complete the relocation as the UN took full responsibility of preparing the platforms on which the Level 2 hospital is to be erected.
But with the platforms ready by the first week of August, Nigeria’s hospital was nowhere near the Super Camp.
Despite the implications of their actions on the fortune of the nation in peacekeeping and the image of the country, the actors allegedly chose to share the money.
The top officials had reportedly excluded the contractor in the sharing after signing the contract formula.
COURT-MARTIALLED FOR TALKING TOO MUCH
To save the image of the ministry and possibly cover the alleged fraud, Dan-Ali reportedly sent servicing officers to execute the contract.
The relocation was to be supervised by the Hassan and BA Isandu, also a brigadier-general.
Hassan, however, made some uncomplimentary comments which were recorded, unknown to him.
This has landed him in army headquarters garrison for jurisdiction under court martial.
While the actors bicker over who gets what, with the minister said to be nursing gubernatorial ambition in his home state, Zamfara, the country has lost the UN contract.
Ministry officials are asking Buhari to call for a probe and bring all those involved arrested and prosecuted.
TheCable could not reach Dan-Ali for comments as his telephone line was unavailable, and he also did not response to SMS.
Tukur Gusau, a colonel and his spokesman, refused to respond to TheCable’s questions.
“The matter is already in court. How do you expect us to comment? You can go to the court-martial and talk to them if they are willing to talk to you. We cannot talk to you since the issue is already before them,” he said.
When told that the court-martial might be unwilling to divulge any information, he said, “Then you go to the army headquarters. The panel was set up by the army, not the ministry of defence.”
Sani Usman, a brigadier-general and spokesman for the army, did not return his calls or respond to SMS.
NIGERIA ON A FALL
Meanwhile, countries such as Bangladesh, Ghana and Senegal are earning foreign exchange from COE as all equipment are paid for.
Nigeria, which was the fifth largest troop contributing country (TCC) in the world in 2013, is down to 9th position.
It is now ranked 9th in global peacekeeping and 5th in Africa and in African Union.
Nigeria’s neigbhour, Ghana, is now ranked 8th in global peacekeeping and 4th largest African and African Union contributor, with 3,247 uniformed peacekeepers.
“Liberia and Sierra Leone in particular owe its peace it is enjoying today to the sacrifice of Nigerian troops but sadly, ugly and selfish behaviour like that has cost the nation dearly and continued to paint her in bad light,” an official of the ministry told TheCable.
WHAT WILL BUHARI DO?
Buhari’s administration’s biggest soundbite since its inception in 2015 is “if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us”.
However, there has been a series of corruption scandals rocking the government in recent times.
The former secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal, was implicated in a grass-cutting contract scam, the most senior of his administration to be so indicted so far.
After a long pause, Buhari finally fired him on October 30.
Ayo Oke, former director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), was fired same day, months after a probe panel recommended his sack after the discovery of $43 million, £27,000 and NN23 million of the agency’s cash at a private residence registered to his wife.
Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of a presidential task force who fled the country when he was being investigated, secretly returned to the country and was reabsorbed into the civil service and promoted director.
Buhari ordered his sack after it became public knowledge, although Winifred Oyo-Ita, the head of service, allegedly said the president knew about Maina’s recall.
The latest case from the ministry of defence is yet another test of how far the president is willing to go to clean up his government.

Their dismissal followed an orderly room trial at the Zone ‘2’ Command Headquarters, Lagos, where they were found guilty by the adjudicating officer. A sum of N200,000 they took from their victims was also recovered.

Navy, Army Deploy Fighter Jets, Gunboats To Warri Creeks

…It’s regular patrol —NNS Commander
…As Gbaramatu residents scamper into the creeks
By Emma Amaize, Regional Editor, South-South, Egufe Yafugborhi & Perez Brisibe THERE was apprehension among riverine dwellers, yesterday, as the Nigerian Navy and Army deployed fighter jets and gunboats to the creeks and other strategic locations in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, in response to last Friday’s threat by the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, to resume bombing of oil facilities.
Some oil servicing company workers, who returned to Warri from Escravos, on Monday night, told Vanguard that they sighted the massive build-up by the armed forces on their way back from work. However, yesterday afternoon, riverine dwellers, especially in Gbaramatu Kingdom, reported that fighter jets and helicopters hovered around the communities, causing some of them, mainly women and children, to run into hiding in the forest.
It’s normal patrol —NNS
Commander Contacted, the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, Delta, Warri Naval Base, Commodore Ibrahim Dewu, said: “What they are speculating as military deployment is routine patrol along Escravos and the Trans Forcados Pipeline. Once we sense any security concern on that line, our men usually move in to patrol the area. Nobody is deploying any gunboat or jets to specific communities. It is a normal patrol.” Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Col. Alhassan Grema, and Spokesperson, Joint Task Force, Major Ibrahim Abdulahi, declined response when called on the situation.
Tompolo fortifies security Meanwhile, ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, who declared, Monday, that he had no plan to bomb pipelines contrary to the allegation levelled against him by the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA, is said to have fortified his security. A source told one of our reporters: “We do not want to leave anything to chance because some people desperately want to drag Tompolo into the affair and are using even youths of the region. You saw the statement by RNDA that they know Tompolo’s hideout and volunteered to pilot soldiers to the place.
It is highly annoying, but we have to do what we have to do for now.” Uduaghan calls for engagement Former governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, told Vanguard: “I am appealing for caution in handling the renewed threat by the Niger Delta Avengers. I am appealing to the Niger Delta Avengers to drop the threat and the Federal Government to continue on the path of engagement.
The issues raised from the various peace movements by the Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, on behalf of the Federal Government that brought some calm should be seriously addressed. We must all support the Acting Governor, Mr. Kingsley Otuaro, who has been managing the renewed threat.”
Fighter jet, helicopter sighted at 1.00pm –Gbenekama Ijaw leader and Ibibenimowe (Chief Mobilizer) of Gbaramatu Kingdom,
Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who confirmed the “invasion,” asserted: “At about 1,00 pm, a military chopper, fighter jet and navy boats roamed the length and breadth of Gbaramatu, while the chopper continued hovering around the palace of the Pere (King) of Gbaramatu kingdom. “The jets hovered over the place for some minutes before they left. Why this is happening, we do not know. Gbaramatu is not at war with the Federal Government.
The Niger Delta Avengers do not live in Gbaramatu nor do they live in Gbaramatu palace and we do not know them. We do not know what their plans are. The people are afraid. We don’t want what happened to us in 2009 and 2015 to repeat itself in 2017. We have struggled to maintain peace in Gbaramatu Kingdom. The traditional ruler of Gbaramatu Kingdom has issued a statement calling for peace and admonishing the Avengers not to embark on hostilities. The kingdom had also issued a statement pleading with the Federal Government to look at the problems agitating the minds of the people of the Niger Delta with a view of solving them immediately.’’
Invading Gbaramatu not the solution —Annkio Briggs
Reacting, Niger Delta campaigner, Ms Ann-Kio Briggs, said: “This is a very strong threat in response to what the government also sees as a threat. Are the people the government is looking for inside Gbaramatu? What is the point of harassing the innocent citizens of Gbaramatu? As a non-violence agitator, I am fed up with all these threats and counter- threats and the fact that the Nigerian government is truly insincere and does not want to solve the Niger Delta issues. I don’t know where this is taking us and I don’t think this is the best thing for the government to do because what the security agents will do is to beat up the people and burn houses.’’
It’s a sad development – Uranta
Executive Secretary, Nigerian National Summit Group, NNSG, Tony Uranta, asserted: “Unfortunately, Nigeria wages war against the poor citizens of Gbaramatu and other peace-loving people of Niger Delta.” We are very worried that the federal government has allowed Nigeria to return to this crossroad yet again.
Even after all the troubles PANDEF had taken to win peace and stability back to the Niger Delta, since last year, when the NDA unilaterally declared a ceasefire and authorised us to interface with the FGN on their behalf. ‘’PANDEF has always advised the Federal Government against its penchant for over-militarization of the Niger Delta. Whatever actions by the youthful agitators in the creeks have been certifiably reactions to what all Niger Deltans regard as an insidious plot by some enemies of the region, who appear more hell-bent on demonizing the people of the Niger Delta, whilst unwavering in their resolve to suck all the resources dry, leaving the indigenes impoverished and the environment despoiled. ‘’We have called on the young men and women in the creeks to, please, not revert to the threatened violence, whilst PANDEF gives the obviously not-blameless federal government some time to embrace the window of opportunity to fulfill the many promises it has made to the Niger Delta region’s people in the last year.
Call military to order – IYC
The Eric Omare-shepherded Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, in a statement, condemned the development. It said: “The IYC has just been briefed about fighter jets hovering around the Gbaramatu Guesthouse in Oporoza in Gbramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State and thereby causing tension among inhabitants of Oporoza community. This is unnecessary and condemnable. It would be recalled that this same guesthouse was a subject of attack during the 2009 bombardment of Gbaramatu Kingdom. The Nigerian military must not allow a repeat of the 2009 experience.
“We strongly feel that the situation on ground does not warrant military jet fighters going to any community in Gbaramatu or any community in the Niger Delta region. We call on the military authorities to call their officers to order. The deployment of military jets is causing unnecessary tension already in the riverine communities of Delta State. Gbaramatu Kingdom and some other Ijaw communities have suffered too much in the hands of overzealous military officers. “While stakeholders are making efforts to prevail on militants not to resume hostilities, we also call on the military not to do things that would aggravate the already tense situation in the region. President Buhari must call the military authorities to order to avoid unnecessary crisis in the Niger Delta region.” IPDI condemns fresh military siege President of Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, Mr. Austin Ozobo, also condemned the deployment of troops to the area.
“We condemn the deployment of troops to invade sleeping communities in Gbaramatu kingdom. It is over a year since the government promised a dialogue process to holistically address Niger Delta demands, yet nothing has been done about it.” “Has the government ever blamed itself for the delay of the dialogue process, failure to implement the relocation of IOCs headquarters to Niger Delta region and should Niger Delta be blamed for the renewed provocation? We wish to state clearly that deployment of troops is not the solution to Niger Delta struggle. You cannot continue to do the same thing repeatedly and expect different response.’ Peace will elude Nigeria, except those who bear the golden eggs are given a better place in Nigeria,” the activist said.

Buhari: We Will Fund Budget With N512bn Recovered Loot..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-08-2017, 01:31 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that various loot recoveries running to the tune of N512.4 billion will be deployed to funding the 2018 Budget.
The administration also plans to finance the budget through new borrowings estimated at N1.699 trillion. Fifty per cent of this borrowing will be sourced externally, whilst the balance will be sourced domestically.
The Federal Government is also targeting N306 billion from proceeds of privatisation of some non-oil assets by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to finance the budget deficit.
The President made the disclosure yesterday while presenting a N8.612 trillion proposed budget for 2018, which he said will reinforce and build on the recent accomplishments of his administration.
The N8.612 trillion is an increase of 16 per cent on the 2017 budget.
Buhari, who presented the budget, tagged “Budget of Consolidation”, before a joint session of the National Assembly, said the proposed budget will also sustain the reflationary policies of 2016 and 2017 budgets and deliver on Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2018 – 2020.
In the budget speech that lasted for one hour two minutes, the President lamented the late passage of the 2017 Budget, which he noted has significantly affected its implementation.
He, therefore, appealed to the lawmakers to ensure to pass the budget by January 1, 2018, to enable the nation return to the January-December calendar.
“As you are aware, the 1999 Constitution authorized necessary Federal Government expenditures prior to the 12th of June, 2017 when the 2017 Appropriation Act was signed into law. This year, we have worked very hard to achieve an earlier submission of the Medium-term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP), and the 2018 Appropriation Bill. Our efforts were to avail the National Assembly with sufficient time to perform its important duty of passing the Appropriation Bill into law, hopefully by the 1st of January, 2018.
“It is in this spirit that I solicit the cooperation of the Legislature in our efforts to return to a more predictable budget cycle that runs from January to December.”
Out of the N8.612 trillion, N3.494 trillion is for recurrent costs, N2.428 trillion is for capital expenditure (excluding the capital component of Statutory Transfers); N2.014 trillion is for debt service; N456 billion is for statutory transfers and N220 billion is for sinking fund (to retire maturing bond to local contractors).
The budget is predicated on an oil price benchmark of US$45 per barrel; with oil production estimate of 2.3 million barrels per day, including condensates; while the exchange rate fixed at N305/US$ and real GDP growth estimate of 3.5 per cent; and inflation rate of 12.4 per cent.
The budget is predicated on a deficit of N2.005 trillion, representing 1.77 per cent of GDP. “We expect our fiscal operations to result in a deficit of N2.005 trillion or 1.77 percent of GDP. This reduction is in line with our plans under the ERGP to progressively reduce deficit and borrowings,” he stated.
Total federally-collectible revenue is estimated at N11.983 trillion in 2018. The three tiers of government are to receive about 12 per cent more revenues in 2018 than the 2017 estimate.
Of the amount, the sum of N6.387 trillion is expected to be realised from oil and gas sources. Total receipts from the non-oil sector are projected at N5.597 trillion.
The government’s estimated total revenue is N6.607 trillion in 2018, which is about 30 per cent more than the 2017 target. There is also the projected oil revenues of N2.442 trillion, and non-oil as well as other revenues of N4.165 trillion.
Non-oil and other revenue sources of N4.165 trillion, include several items including: Share of Companies Income Tax (CIT) of N794.7 billion, share of Value Added Tax (VAT) of N207.9 billion, Customs & Excise Receipts of N324.9 billion, FGN Independently Generated Revenues (IGR) of N847.9 billion, FGN’s Share of Tax Amnesty Income of N87.8 billion, and various recoveries of N512.4 billion, N710 billion as proceeds from the restructuring of government’s equity in Joint Ventures and other sundry incomes of N678.4 billion.
The president said: “We plan to finance the deficit partly by new borrowings estimated at N1.699 trillion. Fifty per cent of this borrowing will be sourced externally, whilst the balance will be sourced domestically. The balance of the deficit of N306 billion is to be financed from proceeds of privatisation of some non-oil assets by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).”
He said the government is closely monitoring her debt service to revenue ratio. “We shall address this ratio through our non-oil revenue-generation drive and restructuring of the existing debt portfolio. Presently, domestic debt accounts for about 79 per cent of the total debt. Our medium-term strategy is to reduce the proportion of our domestic debt to 60% by the end of 2019 and increase external debt to 40 per cent,” Buhari told the lawmakers.
He listed the key capital sectoral allocations in the 2018 budget to include, Power, Works and Housing: N555.88 billion; Transportation: N26 3.10 billion; Special Intervention Programmes: N150 billion; Defence: N145 billion; Agriculture and Rural Development N118.98 billion; Water Resources: N95.11 billion; Industry, Trade and Investment: N82.92 billion; Interior: N63.26 billion; Education N61.73 billion and Universal Basic Education Commission: N109.06 billion.
Others include Health: N71.11 billion; Federal Capital Territory: N40.30 billion; Zonal Intervention Projects N100.00 billion; North East Intervention Fund N45 billion; Niger Delta Ministry: N53.89 billion; and Niger Delta Development Commission, N71.20 billion.
A substantial part of the recurrent expenditure for 2018 is for the payment of salaries and overheads in key ministries such as: N510.87 billion for Interior; N435.01 billion for Education; N422.43 billion for Defence; and N269.34 billion for Health.
The President disclosed that the government was working hard on the Ogoni Clean-up project, saying provision has been made in the 2018 budget for oversight of the project. “During the year, we engaged eight international and local companies proposing different technologies for the mandate. To enable us select the best and most suitable technology for the remediation work, we asked each company to conduct Demonstration Clean-up Exercises in the four local government areas of Ogoni land. These demonstrations were recently concluded and the results are being studied by the Governing Council of the Ogoni Clean-up Project.
“Although the project will be funded by the International Oil Companies, we have made provisions in the 2018 Budget for the costs of oversight and governance, to ensure effective implementation,” he disclosed.
He assured oil producing communities of the Niger Delta of the readiness of his administration to honour all agreements, saying the nation cannot afford to return to the ‘dark days of insecurity and vandalism’.
The President equally commended leaders of the Niger Delta for their continued support to the government.
“Our mutually beneficial engagement with oil producing communities in the Niger Delta contributed immensely to the recovery in oil production experienced in recent months. We would like to thank the leadership and communities in the Niger Delta for their continued support and to also reiterate our assurances that this administration will continue to honour our commitments to them. We cannot afford to go back to those dark days of insecurity and vandalism.
“We all want a country that is safe, stable and secure for our families and communities. This means we must all come together to address any grievances through dialogue and peaceful engagement. Threats, intimidation or violence are never the answer.”
The President was also excited about the nation’s economic growth.
On power sector, Buhari said “it still remains a work in progress”, lamenting that despite increased generation capacity, there are challenges of transmission and distribution networks.
He said government was working with the privatized distribution companies to see how to overcome this challenge.
On food security, the president said that a committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had been inaugurated to check smuggling of food items across the country’s border towns.

Withdraw Nigeria From International Islamic Bodies - CAN Tells National Assembly
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-08-2017, 01:24 PM - No Replies

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on yesterday urged the National Assembly to ensure the Federal Government withdraw from the Organisation of Islamic Conference and other religious bodies.
CAN said this at a gathering of prominent Christian leaders in the country at the Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos.
Media aide to the CAN president, Adebayo Oladeji, in a statement said the gathering condemned the plan to lead Nigeria into the Islamic Coalition Against Terrorism through an executive fiat. It also urged the National Assembly to prevail on Northern states to issue Certificates of Occupancy to churches in the region.
In his words:
“CAN calls on the National Assembly to compile the list of all organisations that Nigeria belongs to and all the treaties signed with a view to dropping all the religious ones. “That we declare the inability of the state governments to pay workers’ salaries and allowances as and when due as unacceptable and call on the federal and state’s governments to work together to address this.”
It admonished the Federal Government to “stop the untimely death of our people and medical tourism abroad.”
It condemned the failure of the security agencies to stop the murderous Fulani herdsmen from their criminal activities. The gathering also demanded the revival of the Nigerian Inter-religious Council.
Those who attended the meeting includes President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; the Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo; the General Overseer, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Archbishop Mike Okonkwo; and former CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

My Nephews Raped Two Of My Daughters’ - Woman
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 11-08-2017, 01:18 PM - No Replies

Posted By: Precious Igbonwelundu
A woman identified as Rachel yesterday told detectives how her nephews allegedly repeatedly raped her underage daughters.
Rachel said she and her 13 and eight-year-old daughters sought refuge at her elder sister’s two-bedroomed apartment at Bariga, after their home was overtaken by a flood.
But, according to her, her nephews took advantage of them.
The suspects, Saviour Philip, 35, and Paul Philip, 17, were brought to the Gender Office of the police at Ikeja, from Bariga Division and charged to court yesterday.
Rachel said: “I was compelled to move into my elder sister’s house because my one-room apartment was taken over by flood. I used to live at the Sawmill area of Bariga.
“My sister’s sons started raping my daughters three weeks ago. They took turns to rape them and threatened to kill them if they told anyone about it.
“But I knew about it when my eldest daughter was rude to my sister’s sons.
When I asked why she said: ‘Why won’t I be rude to uncle after he had repeated sex with me? How can I stop crying?’
“I saw what I can only describe as a shadow come across my child’s face. It was devastating to witness her distress.”
According to Rachel, the eight-year-old victim was her twin sister’s daughter. She said her twin confronted the boys when she learnt of the abominable act but was beaten up.
She said: “When my twin sister got to the shop, Paul’s mother and two of her relatives pounced on her, inflicting injury on her. My 13-year-old daughter was taken to Mirabel Centre for treatment where it was established that there was penetration.
“But I got the shock of life there when my eight year old niece opened up that Saviour also ‘fingered’ her.”
One of the victims said the 35-year-old suspect usually had anal penetration and the younger one “entered through the front.
“They threatened to kill me if I told anyone about it. Saviour brought out some charms and said he would use them on me,” the minor said.
According to the older victim, Paul was the first to defile her, adding that she was arranging clothes in the room when he grabbed her from behind and put her back on the floor.
She said: “Paul started it. One day while arranging my siblings’ clothes, after my mother had gone to the shop, he came from behind, lifted me and landed me on the floor. He covered my mouth when I wanted to shout. When he was done he threatened that if I told my mother or anyone, he would kill me.
When he finished with me, he would use his fingers on my younger sister. He usually did it in the afternoon when most tenants were away.
“Saviour penetrated through my anus. He also told me not to tell anyone and that if I told my mother, he would drive us out of the house.
“I refused to tell anyone because I was scared of death. One day, when I could not bear the pains from my private part, I told Paul I would tell my mother. He said my mother would not do anything even if I told her.
“Two Sunday ago, my mother overheard me insulting Paul. She picked up a stick and hit me with it and at the same time reminded me that Paul was not just a relative but my senior.
“I didn’t know where the boldness came from but I said ‘mummy you want to know why I am insulting him? It is because he has raped me several times.’ At that point my mother descended on Paul and demanded to know the truth.”

How to cook moi moi with whole coconuts
[Image: moi%2Bmoi.jpg]
Moi moi cooked with whole coconuts.
Today, I'm cooking this delicious moi moi with whole coconuts. we'll make the best of the season, load our bodies with all the cocogoodness. No oil added but you can add if you like. The bottle of oil in the pic is because I initially planned to stir-fry the onion, pepper and crayfish before adding, but later CHANGED my mind. These broad moi moi leaves have been preserved for 3 months and they still very fresh.

2 cups beans
1 medium sized coconut

Boiled eggs
Salt to taste

16-year-old impregnated by vice principal cries out to the government
A 16-year-old student of Government Secondary School, Tunga, Minna, Niger state, Faith Galadima who was impregnated by her Vice Principal Mohammed Mohammed, has given birth a baby boy.
Galadima while speaking to newsmen in Minna on Tuesday lamented the way she was treated during the pregnancy saying:

“I did not receive any assistance from the V.P despite the agreement between him and the child rights agency.
I am not happy that I am now a mother at this tender age, I will not allow the incident to shatter my dream of becoming a nurse. I still want to further my studies because I want to be a be a nurse in the future.”
She solicited for the support of government and NGOs for her to take care of the baby and continue her education. The father of the girl, Mr Haruna Galadina, also confirmed that her daughter was abandoned during the period of her pregnancy and asked “the authorities to come into the matter”. .
The V.P, Mohammed Mohammed, after his arrest, was arraigned before a Minna magistrate court on April 4, 2017, on a two-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, and impregnating a female student.
The accused was remanded in prison custody for three months after he pleaded not guilty to the charge and applied for bail. Magistrate Fatima Auna, however, granted him N1 million bail.
In her reaction, Mrs Maryam Kolo, DG of the Niger state Child Rights Protection Agency, said that part of the agency’s demands to the state Ministry of Education was that some part of the accused salary is given to the victim on monthly basis to cater for her needs.
Kolo said the agency would put an application to the court for a DNA test to be conducted on the baby so as to assist police investigation and the court.

She gave assurance that the agency would get justice for the victim and see that she returned to school. Investigation, however, revealed that the accused had been secretly transferred from the school to an unknown school while the case against him was still pending in the court.

Buhari and the allegation of Northernization By Reuben Abati

Buhari and the allegation of Northernization By Reuben Abati
Perhaps the biggest news this week so far, has been the attempt by the Presidency to debunk the allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari has been kinder to Northerners and Muslims in the recruitment of persons into his administration.
The published list, itself a response to an earlier indictment by the BusinessDay newspaper, has been dismissed as incomplete, selective and misleading but all of that draws attention to a crisis at the heart of Nigerian politics, nay African politics. Matthew Hassan Kukah once described this in our context as “the-myonisation-of-power”.
That is when a Nigerian from a particular part of the country becomes President, his people including his kinsmen and his friends and associates from his community and other parts of Nigeria see his ascendance as their own opportunity to have a taste of the national cake. They fight over the proverbial cake. Invariably, they benefit from what is called the politics of proximity. They get appointed to the best positions. They gain better access to the seat and the man of power than everyone else. Nigeria is not alone in this regard.
The same politics plays out in other African countries. In Kenya, John Githongo, their once-upon-a-time anti-corruption czar, in a book on him, the author, Michela Wrong complains that what prevails in Kenyan politics is the syndrome of “it-is-our-turn-to-eat.” In that country, the emergent politics is not even just about what to eat, it is about ego, elite contestation, dynastic rivalry and power. Wrong is right in many ways. That drama has been played out in the recent elections in Kenya but here in Nigeria, we have also been dealing with the same crisis since independence.
The question has been and remains: who gets the better share of the Nigerian national cake? Nigerian political actors do not see their country as a country that is structured for progress, sustainable development and unity. They see it as a cake to be shared. In their imagination and consideration, the cake is so big, it is more than enough for everybody, but they have seen that since independence, some people get a bigger share of it, and the more access a particular group gets to power, the more advantage it procures for its people. Thus, any person who occupies a position – be it in the public or private sector space is subjected to instant, accustomed suspicion and harassment. No matter how well-meaning the person may be, the person is monitored closely to see if his appointees or associates would be persons from his church, mosque, community, ethnic group, or old school network. Ethnicity, religion and other social indicators are often the alarm signals. This is the background to the allegation and accusation that President Muhammadu Buhari is systematically re-Northernizing Nigeria.
The prefix re- is instructive because one of the biggest fears in Nigeria is that the political North, for there is no such thing as a monolithic Northern Nigeria, or a strictly binary Nigeria, as the Western press assumes, is determined to dominate the South, the entire South according to a script written and acted out by the British colonialists and sustained by their local successors. Indeed, the Nigerian military did not help matters by practically Northernizing Nigeria with the politics of vendetta and imperialism that propelled the Nigerian military establishment in power. The myth and reality of Northern domination has nonetheless also done much damage to the idea of national unity in Nigeria, even if there is enough evidence to establish the sad fact that, every ethnic group in the country is involved in a struggle for dominance. The dominant truth is that Nigerians do not trust one another. It does not matter where they are, or whatever the level of their education or exposure, or the opportunities they have, they are all ethnic gladiators at heart and should they struggle to be nationalistic, their kith and kin will continually remind them of the need to obey and serve the tribe. I use the word tribe here, deliberately against current convention.
It is for the foregoing reason that I consider the attempt by the Presidency to write off the allegation of Northern domination under President Muhammadu Buhari as futile. Ethnic politics in Nigeria is both a matter of fact and perception. I offer four seemingly simple explanations of the phenomenon. It is the fact first, that whenever a President from a particular ethnic extraction arrives in Abuja, the fashion mode of the city changes overnight. Under President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007), the various watering holes of Abuja adjusted their fashion codes. Even to the night-clubs, people wore the Yoruba attires and caps. The people of the South West including the Yoruba taxi drivers of Abuja became very voluble. It was their time. It was their turn. The moment President Obasanjo left, the Mallams returned, that is the power-brokers of the North, with the emergence of President Umaru Yar’Adua. Hausa language became the language of Abuja. President Yar’Adua died in office and his deputy succeeded him. President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s first Ijaw President also changed the face of fashion in Abuja. His kinsmen and their colourful robes and walking sticks became the new face of Abuja. I recall in those days, the security people insisting that walking sticks would not be allowed inside the Villa because according to them, a walking stick is a weapon! I doubt if anybody these days is still swinging any such weapons around Abuja.
Two, when a Christian President is in power in Nigeria, the most active part of the Villa would be the Chapel. By the same token, if it is a Muslim President, the mosque in the Villa gains special focus. There is never any doubt about the locus of affinity in Nigerian politics. In an extremely superstitious society such as we have, our leaders don’t joke with their spiritual well-being. Every big man’s wife is a prayer warrior. “My wife is a prayer warrior”, is a common refrain in the corridors of power. The people that pray for the big man, from his wife to her relatives and the spiritual consultants eventually become so influential they could in fact influence appointments and state policy. African leaders are so insecure, we must someday attempt an intellectual assessment of the damage they have done to the governance process in Africa, with their insecurity and fears.
Three, cronyism is a strong factor in African politics. Our leaders are only comfortable with the people that they know. Whoever is not known personally must have a Godfather or a minder that can be consulted. When people win power in Nigeria, they don’t hand it over to other people that easily. Everything is transactional. There are no big or average men – they are all looking for what is in it for them. And this is what has held Nigerian down. If anyone investigates the real underbelly of Nigeria, there will be no country anymore because it is Nigeria that feeds all the big men. It is in reality an unproductive country with the rich depending on oil revenue and deceiving the poor and the underprivileged. Our big men appoint cronies. They are afraid of tomorrow.
Four, democracy was meant to help and advance our society. But we do not have properly organized political parties. We also do not have politicians in the sense of having people who are committed to the common good. Nigerian politicians don’t owe allegiance to any body of ideas. They are here today. They are there tomorrow. I recently accosted a Nigerian politician who was quite prominent in the PDP-Jonathan administration. He has since realigned and he is speaking up, loudly and boldly for the APC-Buhari administration. I asked him how it is so easy for him to change camp so smoothly. His answer is that when you move from Manchester United to Chelsea, your job is to score against Man-U. This is the most apt description of Nigerian politics that I have ever heard. Politics, like governance in Nigeria, is a game, a play, a profitable illusion. We, the ordinary people are the ones who put so much weight on it.
So when anyone accuses President Buhari of favouring his own people, such a person misses the point about the way Nigeria is. Let me just drop this one here: in the First Republic under Aguiyi-Ironsi, as short as that period was, Igbos, with their man in power, dominated the Federal Civil Service. The Hausa-Fulani, whenever it was their turn in power, lowered the standards and the admission scores and positioned themselves. There is now a Federal Character clause in the Nigerian Constitution, but Nigerians know that they stand a chance to benefit more only when their kinsman is in charge at the centre. It is Buhari’s turn today. It is the Hausa-Fulani’s time.
The Presidency has offered a so-called list of appointees, but the forensic analysis of that list that has been attempted has shown that the best positions in the most strategic sectors are in the hands of the core Hausa-Fulani. That is how the game is played, sadly. And let me add this: it is a pity the list did not disclose the identity of the cooks and closest aides in the Presidential Villa. These are very strategic positions too, but which Nigerian President would allow a man who does not speak his language to cook for him or enter his bedroom? Nigeria is a country that is ruled and driven by fear and insecurity even at the highest levels. Nigerian leaders are as scared and as insecure as the people they lead. While struggling to be Nigerian, and nationalistic, they don’t ever forget their ethnic roots and the burden of Nigerian history. We have a list which says President Buhari has appointed persons from across Nigeria but how inclusive is that list?
We need, therefore to deal with the big issues, not givens. We must insist that Nigeria needs such a leader who can break the ceilings. For us that will be the true definition of change, and the extension of transformation; in the process, imagined and extant givens will fail and the country can be transformed. What Nigerians want when they complain about marginalization and the absence of federalism is that they want a country that is based on a foundation of merit, justice and equity. They want a meritocratic society where the best and the brightest can aspire to the highest levels in society regardless of their ethnic, religious or geographical extraction. It is possible to interpret change otherwise as infrastructure, but a developing country will always need infrastructure, depending on the commitment and discipline of succeeding administrations. We need now and later, a value-driven leadership, which also adds value in space and time.
To be sure that we are on the same page, our obsession with ethnicity and nepotism is a poor reminder of how poorly our country continues to turn out. The day a Nigerian can serve his or her local government, state, Senatorial district, state and the Federal Government without anyone asking where he or she comes from, but strictly on the basis of merit and accomplishments, then may be, indeed may be, then we would have a country again. For now, we are at best, a possible country in search of a nation.

Man jailed for 16 years for rapes and sex attacks
31-year old Delando Smith who carried out rapes and sex attacks on two vulnerable women after coaxing them into his car was on Monday, 6th November jailed for 16 years.
He appeared at Croydon Crown Court after being found guilty of three counts of rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. Smith was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment with a six year extension on licence.
This follows his conviction in August 2016, prior to which he was on remand awaiting trial in relation to a separate allegation of rape for which he was found not guilty on Wednesday, 9 August 2017. Smith carried out his first attack on 17 May 2015. At around 03:30hrs, a 20-year-old woman was in Southwark on her way back from a night out in Peckham.
A car pulled up beside her as she waited at a bus stop. The driver – later identified as Delando Smith – engaged her in conversation and said he would give her a lift.
He was arrested on suspicion of rape in November 2015 and released on bail while officers investigated the allegations. Whilst on bail he committed a second attack. Smith’s phone was seized and analysed, and videos showing the attack on this victim were found.
Detective Constable Ellen Jones of the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command said: “Delando Smith is a predatory male who targeted young, vulnerable, lone women, attacked them and filmed the offences for his own gratification.
This has been a long and emotional process for the victims and I would like to praise their courage and commitment to making sure that Smith was convicted so he would face justice for his actions.”

Woman kills her newborn baby to spite her married ex-boyfriend who abandoned her
Police in Pattaya, Thailand have arrested a 20- year old- mother who put her newborn baby boy in a plastic bag and threw him to his death from the 17th floor of a condominium.
Shocked investigators and rescue staff were called to a Pattaya condominium after the newborn baby boy was thrown from a condominium to the ground on Monday, November 6.
The little boy had come loose from a plastic bag and had massive trauma to the head. Phitak Nernsaeng from Pattaya police arrived on the scene at Pattaya Sai 2 late afternoon Mondaywith medics from Sawang Boriboon Muang Pattaya.
Police were told by a curtain fitter called Apichart, 26, who was working in Room 473 on the fourth floor, that he had seen the plastic bag fly past his window. He turned his head to see it hit the ground and saw that it had contained an infant.
After regaining his composure he rushed to inform condo security who alerted the authorities, reported Sanook.
Local police chief Apichai Krobpetch said that the baby’s mother, Netchanok “Beam” Nokyungthong showed no sadness or remorse. She did it to spite her married South Korean ex-boyfriend who had left her.
CCTV and information received had led the shocked police to a room on the 17th floor where they found Ms Nokyungthong.
In the room were clothing and flip-flops covered in blood thrown in the trash and bloodstains on the wall of the bathroom and window leading to the balcony. They recovered what looked like an umbilical cord on the bathroom floor.
[Image: 1pm.jpg.12e15bf8d24d1c548bc5eba2aa4c061c.jpg]
Beam told the police that she had known the father of the child for two years. He is a South Korean engineer who has a wife from his country and lives in Sri Racha. She said he used to come and see her occasionally. But when she became pregnant he did not want to see her anymore, she said.
She said that on Saturday night she suddenly went into labor and gave birth to her son in the bathroom of the condo.
She said matter-of-factly that the boy was fine. But because she was upset with her ex boyfriend and had no money she decided to put him in a plastic bag and throw him out the window.
Chief Apichai said that the mother still had blood coming from her body and she was sent to Banglamung Hospital.
He told the press that she was not sad or remorseful in any way whatsoever. She is being processed for prosecution.

Tithe Controversy: Pastor Adeboye responds to Daddy Freeze, He Replies back
[Image: pastor%2Badeboye%2Band%2Bfreeze.jpg]
So on Sunday, The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye took to the pulpit to  address the recent tithe controversy that has been generating series of arguments on social media by advising Christians especially his members on the dangers attached to non compliance to payment of tithes.
In his sermon ,Pastor Adeboye asked the congregation to avoid divine curse like
plaques by pleasing God and also in paying of their tithe.
Adeboye, Enumerating secrets of breaking forth, used the opportunity to react to controversial online personality, Daddy Freeze who said no Nigerian Prophet, Pastor or General Overseer is qualified to receive tithes from their members.
According to Freeze, tithe was meant to be eaten with our families in the house of God, it is biblical to use your tithe and buy beer and drink in the house of God. Adeboye however debunked Freeze’s opinion saying ‘even mad people will not come to church to drink alcohol’.
He said;

Avoid divine curse like a plaque, somebody show me something on the internet on the question of paying tithe or not and the fellow said tithe is suppose to be used to buy alcohol and drink in the church.

“Now you know who is talking, even mad people will not come to church to drink alcohol, no matter how crazy that fellow is, asked him to come to church and drink beer, he will tell you that he is not that crazy, because even in his madness, he knows that it is the house of God and he will refuse to do such thing. But this fellow said otherwise that tithe ought to be used to drink alcohol.
“I know who is talking and I did not want to worry myself about such person. But please do not let anybody get you into trouble by attracting God’s curse to yourself, please pay your tithe.” “I have said it before and I will say it again and again, if your physical father curse you, it can be cancel by your spiritual father, if your spiritual father curse you it can be cancel by the general overseer, if your general overseer curse you, you can fast and pray to your father in heaven but it God curses you, where will you go, he asked.
As reported by Vanguard.
After Adeboye's response, below is how Freeze replied back...
Dear Pastor Adeboye,

If you permit me, I will like to humbly seize this opportunity to raise some questions I consider valid.

Why did you say in a viral video, that even a mad person knows that you don’t drink alcohol in a church?

Although from a sentimental point of view, your premise might seem right, but is it really what the Bible teaches us? The book of Deuteronomy 14:22-26, when speaking about paying tithes, instructs us to take our tithe to the place the LORD has chosen, and if the place is too far, we are instructed to sell the portion of our tithe and use it to buy anything our heart desires, listing alcohol as one of the items that could be bought with our tithe. The King James Version says ‘strong drink’, the Holmans Bible says ‘beer’ while the new international version specifies ‘fermented drink’. All the above are forms of alcohol.

So if you say even a mad person knows that you don’t drink alcohol in church, are you suggesting that the modern day church is not the ‘place the LORD has chosen for tithe to be paid and for his name to be worshiped’ as described in the book of Deuteronomy, or are you implying that the Bible was written by lunatics, or are you perhaps doubting God’s sanity?

Another issue I’ll be grateful if you can throw some light upon, is where our first pastors and Daddy GOs, the 12 disciples, collected tithes, or where they instructed the believers who took over the headship of the church from them, to collect tithe.

I humbly suggest, that you kindly address the above questions with biblical evidence, as against whipping up sentiment, or employing what many preachers use, and in my opinion, I consider; ’emotional tactics’.

As the Berean Christian that I am, before accepting any doctrine, I research the scriptures to see if it aligns accordingly, with the word of God.

Thank you sir, I hereby extend my highest considerations and best regards. ~FRZ

Mum who lost her boyfriend while pregnant, asked to provide DNA evidence before his name can appear on baby's birth certificate
[Image: birth%2Bcertificate.jpg]
A new mum whose boyfriend died suddenly in his sleep while she was pregnant has been told she must produce DNA evidence before his name can appear on her daughter's birth certificate. Samantha Thomson was stunned to discover Matt Vergo was not listed as baby Thea's father because the couple were not
married. Now she has been told she must pay thousands in legal fees and provide DNA evidence to get Matt as the official father of one-month-old.
Samantha, 24, was just seven weeks pregnant when she woke up next to 28-year-old Matt and realised he had passed away.
A post-mortem examination revealed he had died from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome - which causes a cardiac arrest by disturbing the heart's rhythm and can strike even in people with no known heart problems.
Matt had seen just one ultrasound scan of his daughter before his sudden death.
The couple had been trying for months for a baby.
Recounting her partner's excitement, Samantha said: "When Matt saw the scan, his smile was as wide as his face."
After Matt's death, Samantha was told she would just need Matt's death certificate. However, when she went to register the birth at Durham County Council she was told she needed a court order and DNA proof of his paternity.
Her plight has now been raised in Parliament as she faces an expensive legal process while coping with the grief of losing the man she planned to spend the rest of her life with.
Samantha, who delivered Thea by emergency section in at the University Hospital of North Durham on October 6, said: "This is the last thing I can do for Matt.
If you're married the husband doesn't have to be there when you register a birth. But if you're not, the father has to be there or you need to go through all this. "It's just the last thing you need when you're grieving and on top of having a baby. A DNA test could cost hundreds of pounds, maybe thousands.
"I've got a year to get this done and it could take six weeks before the first hearing, otherwise we can't have her birth certificate changed.
"If I can get this for us, I hope I can work to get a change so other people don't have to and are aware of it."
Samantha, who was living in Chichester with Matt, moved back to County Durham to be close to her family after his shock death.
She added: "Thea is the last part of Matt we have. His family are devastated and they deserve to see their son's name on their grand-daughter's birth certificate.
"I still have a lock of his hair that I could use for DNA. Otherwise a family member will have to step in."
Matt's mother Teresa 60, and dad Jon, 48, are united in their backing of Samantha and have offered to give samples to help in the DNA test.
Teresa said: "Matt's death was very sudden and he was so looking forward to being a dad. We are going to do this for him to get his name on that birth certificate.
"We 100% believe Matt is Thea's dad, there is no doubt to us at all."
Samantha's mum Wendy, 49, added: "I think this is disgraceful, especially when someone is grieving.
"It really hurts and she also has mental health concerns and she has lost Matt, and now she can't get his name on the birth certificate.
"There needs to be a change."

Football star, Tammy Abraham has committed his future to England despite meeting with the NFF President Amaju Pinnick to switch international allegiance to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Recall that in September, the 20-year-old who was born in the UK to Nigerian parents met with Mr. Pinnick who is a friend of his father to discuss the move and was even offered a guaranteed place in Nigeria's World Cup squad for Russia 2018. Read previous post here
Now the Swansea striker, on loan from Chelsea, who is rated as one of England's brightest young talents has earned his first call-up to the England senior squad for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
Abraham is likely to make his debut in one of the Wembley games after England's top striker Harry Kane pulled out due to injury.
In a statement by the young striker, he made it clear he wanted England over Nigeria.
'I see myself as being a long-term England player. That is where my main focus is and I am 100 per cent focused on trying to get into that team.
'I was pretty set on England really. It was flattering (that Nigeria wanted me) — it was nice to know that I was doing something right — but my main focus was England.'

Infrastructure, Defense Get Bulk Of Buhari's N8.6trillion Budget..
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-08-2017, 10:11 AM - No Replies

Infrastructure, represented by the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and Ministry of Transportation, and Defence, will take the bulk of federal capital spending in 2018, according to a proposal submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly Tuesday.
The three ministries will get money more than the 12 other sectors combined.
Dubbed the ‘Budget of Consolidation,’ President Buhari said the budget would consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets and deliver on Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2018 – 2020.
Giving a further breakdown of the budget, Mr Buhari said that 30.8 percent (or N2.652 trillion) of the budget will be allocated to capital expenditure while N3.494 trillion is budgeted for recurrent expenditure.
Details of the budget proposal revealed that the Power, Works and Housing has the highest capital project proposal with N555.88 billion.
The president listed some projects which will be executed under this sector in 2018 to include the Mambilla hydro power project and the National Housing Programme.
Transportation sector comes second with a projected allocation of N263.10 billion for capital projects.
Specifically, N12 billion counterpart funding is earmarked for transmission lines and substations, N10.00 billion for the 2nd Niger Bridge; and N300 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of the strategic roads.
The third sector to attract most in capital expenditure proposal is Special Intervention Programmes with N150.00 billion and Defence, fourth with N145.00 billion.
Other sectors are Agriculture and Rural Development, N118.98 billion; Water Resources: N95.11 billion; Industry, Trade and Investment, N82.92 billion; Interior: N63.26 billion; Education N61.73 billion; Universal Basic Education Commission, N109.06 billion; Health, N71.11 billion; Federal Capital Territory, N40.30 billion; Zonal Intervention Projects, N100.00 billion; North East Intervention Fund, N45.00 billion; Niger Delta Ministry, N53.89 billion; and Niger Delta Development Commission, N71.20 billion.
Details of the budget proposal revealed that a significant increase is being projected in the revenue accruable from the oil and non-oil sectors.
“Based on the above fiscal assumptions and parameters, total federally-collectible revenue is estimated at 11.983 trillion Naira in 2018. Thus, the three tiers of Government shall receive about 12 percent more revenues in 2018 than the 2017 estimate.
“Of the amount, the sum of 6.387 trillion Naira is expected to be realised from oil and gas sources. Total receipts from the non-oil sector are projected at 5.597 trillion Naira.
“The Federal Government’s estimated total revenue is 6.607 trillion Naira in 2018, which is about 30 percent more than the 2017 target. As we pursue our goal of revenue diversification, non-oil revenues will become a larger share of total revenues. In 2018, we project oil revenues of 2.442 trillion Naira, and non-oil as well as other revenues of 4.165 trillion Naira.
“Non-oil and other revenue sources of 4.165 trillion Naira, include several items including: Share of Companies Income Tax (CIT) of 794.7 billion Naira, share of Value Added Tax (VAT) of 207.9 billion Naira, Customs & Excise Receipts of 324.9 billion Naira, FGN Independently Generated Revenues (IGR) of 847.9 billion Naira, FGN’s Share of Tax Amnesty Income of 87.8 billion Naira, and various recoveries of 512.4 billion Naira, 710 billion Naira as proceeds from the restructuring of government’s equity in Joint Ventures and other sundry incomes of 678.4 billion Naira.”

Prostitute ripped condom off client’s penis and swallowed it to hide evidence
A prostitute in fear of being sent to prison pulled her client’s condom off his penis and swallowed it whole to try and destroy the evidence.
The 48-year-old Vietnamese national named Dang was found guilty of perjury after misleading police following a crackdown on sex workers.
She was jailed for two months for lying to a local court in Western Taiwan after claiming that she did not have sex with her client, identified as Yao.
Identified only as Dang, she will not be punished for trying to destroy evidence because the condom was never found. Police raided the ‘health spa’ at 9pm on March 14 and found her in a room on the first floor.
Dang and Yao were questioned separately on prostitution charges and Dang denied any illegal activity.
However, her client admitted they were ‘halfway through’ having sex when police smashed their way in through the front door and said that Dang quickly removed the condom.
[Image: pri_585430181-e1509617953567-405x410.jpg]
Officers searched the room after finding a condom wrapper and later reported that she was constantly asking for water. She was taken to Jen-Ai Hospital in neighbouring Taichung City where scans revealed a ‘shadow’ in her chest, which police believed was the condom.
As a result, they were never able to formally charge Dang with destruction of evidence. Doctors at the facility said the woman – had she really swallowed the condom as suspected – risked having the rubber lodged in her upper respiratory tract or somewhere in her digestive system, which would require surgery to extract in the future. However, it could also be digested without obstruction.
The woman’s client and another massage parlour worker were also punished, but their sentences have not been revealed.

a normal day in Lagos island

Lagos island is the commercial capital of Nigeria. Where dreams become reality. A land of hope and opportunity, na so dem tell us until we come see 'this is Lagos', as you enter Lagos.

What they fail to tell you about Lagos island, is that every day is a struggle. From transportation, to feeding, to accommodation, just to name a few. Most Lagosians can relate to this.

I work in lagos island and I live in Ikorodu. I have to be at work by nine in the morning every day. I know what you are thinking, 'thats not going to be possible'. Thanks to BRT, it is possible. So I wake up by five in the morning, so I can get a bus early to beat the morning traffic. Your day only starts when you arrive at the island.

When I eventually get to the island, then I need to go get food before work starts. Finding a good place to eat at that time of the day is not easy. Restaurants could be found at every turn, but it is not easy to find  an affordable buka or ‘Mama put’ with decent food. If am lucky, I get one of those mobile 'mama put'. The thing about those ‘mama put’ or buka that is difficult to understand, is the location they choose to market their food. I will not like to go into that now, maybe on my next write up. On my next write up, I will talk more about ‘mama puts’ and bukas. So I buy EBA and Egusi soup that teast like leather, for about 300 Naira. By the time I finish eating the food, the time would be about 8:41am.

After that heavy duty food, I try to hurry but its useless, its now 8:57am. Maybe I can still make it on time, but as I take a turn, the sole of my shoe pulls off. I look around for aboki to fix the dead shoe. As I get to the office, the first person I see is my boss checking the time. See goba!!!

“Look at this recycled menstrual Pad!” – Daddy Freeze blasts the heck out of Bobrisky for calling him out
[Image: freeze%2Band%2Bbobrisky..jpg]
Bobrisky and Daddy Freeze posing for the camera.

Oh dear! Insults couldn't be badder! This qualifies for an award. How do you recycle a menstrual pad like say always pad that's soaked with blood and smelly o, how do you like dry it in the sun and wear again? Have never heard 'insult so gruesome!' Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has replied Bobrisky for calling him out. So, yesterday, Nigerian male barbie, Bobrisky called out Daddy Freeze for mentioning his name while having a discussion with his 2-year-old son at home. Recall that Daddy Freeze is not in Bob's good books because in the past, he revealed to fans that Bobrisky was wearing a fake Rolex watch and that didn't go well with the cross dresser.
So, as I was saying, yeasterday, the controversial OAP’s son told him not to wear his mum’s high heeled shoe, and Freeze replied; “No I won’t, I’m not Bobrisky“.
Well, Bob didn’t find that funny and took to Instagram to blast Freeze as expected. He posted...
“Daddy wat do people cal u fat nose ? Dis is ur third time u are always trying hard to get my attention. But thank ur God u finally got it today. If u are not the most stupid he goat [Image: 1f410.svg] in Nigeria [Image: 1f1f3-1f1ec.svg] den u should be among d top 20. I don’t know u and I don’t think I wanna know u. Pls let my name rest in dis ur small mouth [Image: 1f444.svg] that look like Pussy going through monthly period. At least people know me as a bleaching experts oga wat are u ? Blogger or wat. Pls stay away from Bobrisky. I don’t give a damn fuck about all dis people that call themselves a celebrity. That is y I stay on my lane without doing any high services to anyone. Pls becareful sir. Thanks”
After his rant, everyone started looking forward to Freeze's reply, lo and behold he didn't disappoint. His reply below..OAP Freeze and Bobrisky are both controversial personalities, so expect more of this!. We keep our fingers crossed for now.Really entertaining! Please don't stop the flow....   Morning Devotional For Wednesday 8th Nov

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (NOVEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*BEYOND RELIGION .*

Wednesday, November 8th .
Pastor Chris

_*Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).*_

Being a Christian is much more than reading the Bible and praying to God; it’s living the transcendent life, the God-life, here on earth. This is beyond religion. Those who don’t know what Christianity is call it a religion.

What the Bible refers to as religion is found in James 1:27: _*“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”*_ Christianity, by its very nature and definition is heaven alive in you, divinity at work in humanity.

The Christian is by all means a superman. He’s one with whom anything is possible, because he has the life and nature of God; He has authority over all the powers of darkness. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18, _*“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”*_ He was referring to the believing ones: Christians.

Then in Luke 10:19, He said _*“…nothing shall by any means hurt you!”*_ It doesn’t matter how harmful, poisonous or evil that thing is, it doesn’t have the power to hurt you. You’re not ordinary. You’re not of this world. You’re of God, which means your origin is in God; you’re born of Him. This is Christianity. Eternal life has been imparted to your spirit; you’ve received the life of God that dispels darkness, sickness, disease, poverty, failure and death. You’ve become an associate of the God-kind. This is beyond religion.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the working of your Word in my spirit. My life is the expression of your glory, beauty, and grace. You’ve made me a life-giver, an associate of the God-kind, manifesting the divine life to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *John 16:33* These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. *||*

*||* *1 John 4:4* Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. *||*

*||* *1 John 5:11-12* And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. *||*

IndiGo Staff Manhandles Passenger At Delhi Airport, Airline

An IndiGo passenger was restrained and manhandled by the airline's ground staff at the Delhi airport terminal shortly after an argument last month. In a widely shared video footage, the passenger who had landed in the national capital, was physically prevented from boarding the coach by an airline staffer who was heard seconds earlier objecting to the passenger allegedly using abusive language.

The passenger, Rajeev Katiyal, travelling from Chennai, and the staffer get into a scuffle soon after; both sides are seen trying to punch the other.

The incident took place on October 15. After the video shot on a mobile phone was put out today, IndiGo apologized for the incident and said that the staff involved has been fired. "Incident probed by designated committee. Took action against staff who was main culprit, by immediately terminating his employment," the airline said. IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh said he had called up the passenger too and apologized.

"My personal apologies as this does not reflect our culture," he said in a statement.

"Under the code of conduct violation, this incident was investigated and stern action was taken against the staff," the statement said.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said he has asked for a report from the civil aviation watchdog, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA.

"Violence of any sort is deplorable and should result in criminal action," the minister said.

According to reports, the incident had taken place when the passenger was waiting for the coach, which would take the passengers from the tarmac to the terminal.

Mr Katyal, visibly agitated, seems to be arguing over the late arrival of the coach, to which the ground staff ask him to refrain from using curses. On video, the passenger is telling them that they should focus on doing a better job rather than moving passengers from one spot to another.

As the passengers finally start boarding the coach, a ground staff restrains Mr Katiyal from boarding over the alleged cursing. Seething in rage, Mr Katiyal tries to attack a staff member screaming, "How dare you".In the scuffle that follows, he is finally pinned down on the tarmac, the airline staff holding him by his neck on the ground, as the passenger fights back, swinging his arms wildly.

The two are then separated and held back by other staff members present there. It is not clear yet who shot the video.

  UN Commends Jonathan Electoral Reforms
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 11-07-2017, 12:26 PM - No Replies

Quote:The United Nations has commended former President Goodluck Jonathan for the electoral reforms he initiated during his tenure, and for the good works he has been doing to promote peace and stability in Africa.

In extolling Jonathan’s achievements, the UN prayed that the institutions he built and the high standards he established in organising credible and peaceful elections are maintained and sustained in Nigeria. The global organisation made this known during a courtesy call onJonathan last weekend by a delegation led by Ambassador Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, and Chairman of theCameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission (CNMC).

Speaking of the 2015 general elections, Chambas who was accompanied by the UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Edward Kallon, commended ex-President Jonathan’s roles in stemming the tide of agitations which threatened Nigeria’s unity ahead of the elections.

He said: “What we noticed in 2015 was that there was a display of maturity in the way the elections were handled. There was hardly any major incident between the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The problems were mostly internal to parties.”

According to him, the delegation came to express their appreciation to Jonathan for the good works he has been doing to promote democracy, peace, and stability in Africa, adding that the ex-President “still continues to do good with his decision to serve as the leader of one of the election observation missions to the forthcoming presidential run-off in Liberia.”

Chambas further told the former President that the UN was seeking his support to ensure the success of a scheduled all party stakeholders forum similar to the inter-party peace forum which held under the Jonathan Administration.

In his response, former President Jonathan commended Chambas and his team for the initiative and congratulated the special envoy for moving up to a higher platform, after serving as the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Ex-President Jonathan also commended the UN for its support in election processes in West Africa and in all of Africa, adding that the efforts of ECOWAS leaders had ensured that West Africa had remained relatively peaceful.

He said further: “First let me welcome you and your team. I believe this is a familiar environment for you because you had been with us inmECOWAS. I am happy that you have now gone higher than the ECOWAS level. Let me also, through you and your team, commend what the UN is doing in terms of its proactive approach in sanitising election processes in Africa.”

Jonathan also noted that electoral processes in Nigeria were getting better compared to what it was in the Second Republic when widespread irregularities forced the military to topple elected civilian leaders.
The former President further made a case for credible elections in Africa stressing that tensions arising from poorly conducted elections and other leadership issues are at the heart of most crises on the continent.

“Elections must be credible. They must not just be free and fair but must be seen to be transparent and credible. That way peace will reign and sustainable development can take place”
Jonathan reiterated his belief in peace and credible election processes, saying that peaceful power transfers remain one of the main focus of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation. He also expressed his readiness to encourage and work with the envoy to achieve its mandate in the area of peace.
Ex-President Jonathan stated further that democracy seemed to have stabilised in some African countries including Ghana, South Africa, and Nigeria.

2019 APC Indirectly PDP Campaigned for PDP
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:By Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, yesterday, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed poorly and only succeeded in campaigning for the PDP to take over in 2019.

However, for the PDP to consolidate its gains, Bafarawa called for fairness, honesty and sincerity ahead of its national convention slated for December 9.

Bafarawa, who was in Sokoto, said the PDP was on the course to victory if its handlers did the needful in the coming months.

“People think it is just a question of 2019…PDP will take over; to me it is not just on a platter of gold. The party should be ready to put its house in order.

“If we hold the convention of December 9 with honesty and sincerity, I believe the party will be setting stage for takeover in 2019,” he said, and added that the APC was “campaigning for PDP to take over power judging by its performance in the last three years.”

According to him, it was a smooth ride for APC when it upstaged the then ruling PDP in 2015 because “the PDP campaigned for APC by not meeting the expectations of Nigerians.”

He said, “APC has failed to fulfill the promises it made, so it is campaigning for PDP. It is clearing the way for PDP. If APC could not perform well in three years, what magic can it do in one year?” he asked.

He urged Nigerians to pray for good leaders who would move the nation forward.

Oil Price Rises to $64, Highest Since Mid-2015

Samed Olukoya November 7, 2017Oil Price Rises to $64, Highest Since Mid-2015
Global oil benchmark, Brent crude, hit a 28-month high on Monday as Saudi Arabia’s crown prince cemented his power over the weekend with an anti-corruption crackdown.
Brent, against which Nigeria’s crude oil is priced, rose by $2 to $64.07 per barrel as of 8:03pm Nigerian time, more than $19 higher than the country’s oil price benchmark of $44.5 per barrel for this year’s budget.
The Excess Crude Account, into which the country saves the difference between the market price of oil and the budget benchmark to provide a cushion when oil prices fall or extra cash is needed for spending on infrastructure, has suffered declines since oil price slumped in 2014.
The account, which stood at about $4.11bn in October 2014, dropped to about $3.11bn in November and $2.45bn in December that year, and declined further into 2015.
The balance in the ECA stood at $2.309bn as of September 27, 2017, according to the Ministry of Finance, while the nation’s external reserves rose to $33.93bn as of November 3, 2017, latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed on Monday.
“The price rise is a reaction to the uncertainty from Saudi Arabia,” the Chief Executive Officer, Sun Global Investments, Mihir Kapadi, told The Guardian.
Other factors have edged the oil price upwards. Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan met over the weekend and said they were willing to maintain restrictions on oil production, to address a glut in supply and prop up prices.
The United Arab Emirates and Iraq have also said they would back an extension to production curbs, which were due to end in March 2018.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has expressed support for an extension of a deal between the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Russia and other non-members to cut oil supply until the end of 2018 “as long as the right terms are on the table” regarding its own participation.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, said there was growing agreement among other members of OPEC to extend the deal.
“There isn’t any reason to change what is a winning formula,” he told Reuters, adding, “There is a consensus to extend. The issue will be the duration.”
Nigeria itself, however, is exempt from the deal.
OPEC, along with Russia and nine other producers agreed to cut oil output by about 1.8 million barrels per day until March 2018 in an attempt to ease a global excess that weighed on prices.

Morning Devotional For Tuesday 7th November

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (NOVEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*HIS LIVING TABERNACLES .*

Tuesday, November 7th .
Pastor Chris

_*And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (2 Corinthians 6:15-17).*_

Our theme scripture reveals one of the many amazing blessings of the Christian! Notice that it doesn’t say, “We shall be the temple of the living God when we get to heaven,” but that “we are the temple of the living God.” It doesn’t get better than that. This is a present-hour truth.

The word translated “temple” isn’t the ordinary everyday temple, but the specific word that refers to an inner shrine; it’s the Greek word “naos.” “Naos” refers to the shrine that houses the image of the “god”; it’s the inner sanctuary where the image of the god is kept. That’s what Paul is saying here.

For the Jews, it was the Holy of Holies; that’s where the presence of God was. They didn’t have an image in there, but the presence of Jehovah was inside there. The place that the presence of God resides is the very place that Paul is referring to here. When the Holy Spirit took up His abode in the quarters of your heart, you ceased to be an ordinary man; you became God’s living tabernacle.

In reality, everywhere you go, God goes, because you’re His house. He talks in you, and He looks through your eyes, but not many Christians are cognizant of this reality; hence, they live as mere men. The temple of God, which you are, is where God resides in all His power and majesty.

Likewise, when you show up, the devil bows, because he can’t stand God’s glory, and that glory is in your spirit.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the indwelling presence of your Spirit in me; I’m not an ordinary person. I’m your living tabernacle. Therefore, no sickness, disease or infirmity can successfully lodge in my body, because the life in me is divine, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Romans 8:10-11* And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. *||*

*||* *Philemon 1:6* That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. *||*

*||* *1 Corinthians 6:19* What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? *||*

Edo charts new course on investment in infrastructure
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: trustangel - 11-07-2017, 08:05 AM - No Replies

AGAINST the backdrop of the need for sustainable infrastructure to drive development, and the fact that infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways, etc., are necessary for socio-economic growth of any nation or state, Edo State Government is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure development of sustainable infrastructure in the state.

One of the ongoing road projects in Edo State
As a first step to drive the development of infrastructure in the state, the government has concluded plans to host an investment summit tagged Alaghodaro, through which it intends to chart a new course on investments in infrastructure.

Disclosing to Vanguard Homes & Property the state government’s plans to embark on aggressive sustainable infrastructure, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, said though there are templates to borrow from in places like Lagos, which is blazing the trail in infrastructural funding, the state government’s summit with the maiden edition themed Moving Forward, aims to sell the state as the next destination for investment in human capital, as well as in transport and logistics, due to its centrality in connecting different parts of the country.

Critical road infrastructure

Osagie added that much as the state is willing to open its doors to investments, it has already hit the ground running to create an enabling environment for investments. According to him, the state’s drive to create a modern society is anchored on the provision of critical road infrastructure, pointing out that these efforts are evident in the ongoing rehabilitation and construction of roads and other infrastructure across the 18 local government areas in the state.

He noted that other than the fact that the roads being constructed would open up more areas in the state and ease movement of people and materials, there is an underlying principle to use these roads as an artery for economic emancipation, all tied to the idea of making Edo a transport and logistics hub. “Already, the state enjoys the advantage of being a hotspot for transport activities.

“Therefore, giving priority to road infrastructure, for the state government, not only shows a focus on expanding the state for more investment through auxiliary services but also projects the state into the future.

“In 2017 alone, 233 roads were earmarked for rehabilitation and construction. These roads crisscross the 18 local government areas in the state.  The contracts for the rehabilitation and construction of these roads have been awarded with funds released. Contractors for some of the roads have mobilised men and equipment to sites. As a departure from the past, the state is also moving infrastructure construction out of the state capital, thereby opening up other parts of the state for investment.

“Steps taken by the state in providing infrastructure across the state have been considered by many experts as unprecedented in promoting economic development in the state. The pace with which the road projects are being constructed not only indicates the urgency of task of development but also shows a commitment to deepen grassroots participation in wealth creation for the people.

“The ongoing road projects in Edo Central Senatorial district, include Idumebo-Ihumudumu-Royal Market Road and the Uselu-Ewohimi Road. In a recent visit to monitor progress on the projects, Governor Godwin Obaseki assured the people in the senatorial district of his administration’s resolve to ensure the roads are completed to support the people for sustainable development, and to provide access to drive economic activities.

“In Edo South Senatorial district, road projects in progress include Oba Eweka/Ogbetuo Oni Road, Osabuohien Close, GRA, Wire Road, Nevis Road, Ugbor, Nekpenekpe, Oni Street, Jemide/Akhiobare and Ikpokpan Road, GRA and others, all covering about 50km.

Out of these 15 roads, some have been fully completed with either flexible or rigid pavement. Most of these roads serve as links between rural areas and urban centres. The efforts of the state in providing these critical road infrastructure is strategic.

“It not only does a good job at connecting hitherto separated suburbs with city centres, it paves way for agricultural development. This complements efforts to revive major plantations and agrarian communities across the state, and linking them through well laid roads for evacuation of produce to markets, industries and manufacturing plants,” the SA on media disclosed.

Commenting further, he said infrastructure development has been identified by the state as critical in expanding the frontiers of development, maintaining that in keeping with the pace of transforming various parts of the state into a viable investment hub, the state is carrying out steps towards ensuring that the challenge of deterioration of roads in Edo North is nipped in the bud.

victims of military invasion drag Army, AGF, others to court
User Avatar Forum: Judiciary
Posted by: trustangel - 11-07-2017, 07:59 AM - No Replies

residents of Ajakurama and Tarila Zion communities, Edo State, have dragged the Nigerian Army and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, before a Federal High Court in Benin City, over supposed infringement of their fundamental human rights during the October 20 invasion of the community by soldiers attached to the 19 Battalion, Koko in Delta State. The applicants: Felix Odowu, Ogolugha Odowu, Aye Nisor, Christopher Felix, Ibenatei Ipuluwei and Teacher Magic are asking the court to award them N700 million as general damages against the respondents, jointly and severally, for the unlawful and unjustified damage of their property.

Credible information

Nigerian Army, 4th Brigade Command, Attorney-General of the Federation and five others are respondents in the case with suit No. FHC/B/CS/116/2017, filed on behalf of the applicants, who claim to be victims of the raid at the Benin Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

Army Public Relations Officer, Fourth Brigade Command, Benin City, Captain Muhammed Maidawa, said the army raided the community following credible information that suspected militants were living in the communities.

Authorities announced later that soldiers recovered a cache of ammunition and military regalia in the operation, an allegation the residents described as “giving a dog a bad name just to hang it.”

The applicants are also seeking “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents whether by themselves, their privies and servants from further harassing, intimidating, humiliating the applicants and or invading Ajakurama and Tarila Zion communities.”

They also want “an order of injunction restraining the army from further occupation of both communities as well as a letter of apology by the respondents to be published in a national newspaper.”

Counsel to the applicants, Napoleon Egin, in a statement, explained that his clients were asking the court for a declaration that the military action, which culminated in the confiscation and alleged wanton destruction of their properties, was illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional and in flagrant violation of their fundamental rights.

“We equally filed an ex-parte motion praying the court to order parties to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the hearing and final determination of the originating motion on notice. This step was taken in view of the sinister mission of the Nigerian Army to annihilate any adult male indigene of our clients’ communities,” he stated.

Police DPO in Ondo dies in auto crash,
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: trustangel - 11-07-2017, 07:48 AM - No Replies

It was all grief yesterday in the premises of Yaba Divisional Police Station, Ondo West Local Government Area (LGA) due to the untimely and mysterious death of the Acting Divisional Police Officer (DPO), DSP Aminu Mustapha.
There were conflicting reports about the death of the senior police officer due to the diabolical events that occurred in his office, shortly after he was transferred to his new place of assignment.

Meanwhile, the police command disclosed that the late Mustapha died in an auto crash, but some officers, who were discussing the tragic loss in hushed voices yesterday confided in The Guardian that he slept and never woke up.

It was gathered that the deceased was transferred from Irele Division in Irele LGA of the state to Yaba last week, and faced some administrative hostilities and difficulties in his new station.

A source among the police rank and file, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that some fetish objects known as “ebo” in Yoruba language, was placed in front of the late DPO’s office after he resumed work last week.

The source added that the ugly development made them to organise an emergency prayer meeting at the vicinity of the station to cancel any purported misfortune, which the fetish objects were aimed to accomplish in the station.

The informant noted that the late Mustapha was hail and healthy before going to bed on Saturday but later died in his sleep at Irele where he stays with his family, attributing his death to the fetish objects placed in front of his office.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, refuted the report that the officer died in his sleep, affirming that he died in a car crash at Omifon axis on the way to Irele after close of work.
