A close associate of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and an elder statesman, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, in this interview with BAYO AKINLOYE talks about what President Muhammadu Buhari needs to do to save the country from collapse and the role of Chief Bola Tinubu in the current state of the economy.


What’s your reaction to the revelation by the World Bank Group boss that President Muhammadu Buhari directed the financial institution to carry out more of its developmental projects in northern Nigeria?

The disclosure of the President of the World Bank Group only confirmed what I have been saying that President Muhammadu Buhari is president of the North and not president of Nigeria. It is unfortunate that even the international community is also aware of this nepotism – of Buhari’s unbridled desire to favour a section of the country to the detriment of the others. Is it only the North that is devastated? What about the Niger Delta region? What exactly has been done to salvage the area? He should focus on productive areas to engender development in the country. Buhari’s body language, words and actions show he is president of the North. Only those who are gullible will accept what his mouthpieces are saying – it’s mere damage control.

You will notice of late that while the world is doing the best they can to shift their economic focus away from crude oil, the current administration of Buhari is doing the opposite. Despite repeated calls by economic experts, both local and foreign experts, that Nigeria should diversify its economy and be less dependent on oil, Buhari has continued to spend the country’s meager money in our treasury for oil exploration in the North – he is wasting our money. Everything that Buhari has done so far since he assumed office as president shows where he belongs to. It is apparent he belongs to nobody but the northerners – he does not belong to everybody in this country. He turns a blind eye to everything happening outside the northern region.

He has confirmed all the fears I had expressed about him. He has presided over a country that is insecure and has demonstrated intolerance. He claimed to be a born-again democrat when he was contesting the presidency. Buhari will not bother to restructure the country because his people are the beneficiaries of the lopsidedness in the country. Buhari only sent the 2014 National Conference report to the National Assembly because he was pressured to do so. He has no interest to restructure. The confusion Buhari and APC are creating about restructuring shows that they are taking the people for granted. How can they be asking what restructuring is? It was made as part of their manifesto. The APC is doing all it can to confuse the people.

They shouldn’t tell us Nigeria’s unity isn’t negotiable. The unity is negotiable and we negotiated it in 1954 and that happened when there was a crisis in the House when (Anthony) Enahoro moved the motion and the Western Region withdrew its cabinet and the federal cabinet was disrupted, leading to the colonial rulers to send for the leaders of the party. We went to London, Lancanster House, and there, the unity of the country was negotiated and the principle of federalism was agreed upon and confirmed in the constitution that came up thereafter – when each of the regions back then had its own constitution. It is that constitution we had in 1962/93 when the country became a republic. Our problem began with the constitution foisted on us in 1966 by the military. Then in 1999, the military gave us another constitution that does not represent the will of the people. We protested against it. Nnamdi Kanu is called a terrorist today because he wants justice for his people. The military put us where we are today. I am a Kanu man; where I don’t agree with him is the use of force.

Are you saying Buhari is part of the country’s problem?

Yes, he is. Anybody opposed to restructuring is the greatest enemy of Nigeria’s unity. All the South-West governors are in support of restructuring but they are afraid of the dictatorial tendency of this present administration. We had a conference in Ibadan recently; all the governors contributed morally and financially. They couldn’t come but they sent their deputies. If Buhari is honest and interested in the unity of this country, why didn’t he have a dialogue with Nnamdi Kanu? Buhari will not listen to the voice of reason because he has an element of force in him. If Buhari is honest, why didn’t he call for a dialogue? Why are people agitating for a secession? It is because the government has refused to restructure.

Do you think APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, made a mistake helping Buhari to become the president?

It is not a question of a mistake. I warned Tinubu against supporting Buhari ahead of the 2015 presidential election. What is for Tinubu in this government? He has been sidelined. This government is all about Buhari. The greatest mistake made was for Yoruba to vote for Buhari. The South-West is regretting voting for Buhari. Tinubu is regretting now – he and his supporters are now regretting helping Buhari to become the president. It is Tinubu and all his supporters you should be asking: ‘Are you regretting you helped to bring Buhari to power or you’re happy with his administration?’ The problem that Yoruba and Nigerians have today was caused by Tinubu. If Tinubu had not gone into an alliance with Buhari, would we be in this position? Tinubu is the cause of Yoruba’s suffering now. He is the cause of Nigerians’ suffering now. He helped a dictator to come to power in the person of Buhari, knowing that he’s a born dictator; an unrepentant conservative and an irredeemable religious jingoist. What has he done in his life that does not show he’s a dictator? By birth and by training, he’s a dictator – go and check his past records as a military head of state.

When I campaigned against him before the election, people accused me of collecting money from (ex-President Goodluck) Jonathan. I am one of those who fought for Nigeria’s independence and I am not a happy man with the way this country is being run. If Buhari does not restructure Nigeria, this country will break (up) and I am not afraid to be prosecuted if they regard that as hate speech. Buhari wants to shut down the opposition completely; that’s why he branded Kanu a terrorist. Buhari is running the country the way he likes because he has all the instruments of force in his hand. All the military top brass are northern Muslims – I said ‘northern Muslims’; I didn’t say ‘northerners’.

Does that have anything to do with the current military operations in the three southern regions of the country?

The ongoing military operations – Operation Crocodile Smile and Operation Python Dance – are designed to militarise the country. In every civilian situation, the military is there. Question: when did the military take over the police’s job in a civilian regime? Similarly, where the military is absent, the Fulani armed militia are present – they are all over the country committing all sorts of crimes like raping, kidnapping and killing. What has Buhari said about the violent acts of those people? Another question: since when did rearing cattle with AK-47 become fashionable? I want Buhari and his co-travellers to answer these questions. Why is he hesitating to ban the herdsmen from carrying arms? Is he honest? The same Buhari was quick to label Kanu and other members of the Indigenous People of Biafra terrorists. Is this the country whose unity they are saying is not negotiable, where criminals are allowed to roam the country and agitators are being crucified? The Buhari government wants us to keep quiet as if nothing is happening. I want to tell Buhari that this is not the state we were in when we got independence in 1960. We will neither abandon this country nor succumb to any Fulani domination.

How should the restructuring of the country be done?

Who is in this country that has not supported the restructuring of Nigeria? It is only Buhari. Many responsible and credible Nigerians have expressed their support for the restructuring of Nigeria.

What about former President Olusegun Obasanjo?

Obasanjo is the only exception. The restructuring we are clamouring for is not a strange word at all. It is another way of saying, ‘Let us go back to where we came from – to the 1960 and 1963 constitutions.’ Why should it be a problem to resist the constitution foisted on us by the military? Nobody is talking about unity; we are already united. It is this government that is putting in a condition of disunity – this is what the Soviet Union did and failed and it is the same thing that Czechoslovakia did and failed. You can’t keep people forcefully together under a unitary government; they will break (apart) eventually. To save the country, we came together in 2014 by means of the national conference, but Buhari said he has thrown the report of that confab somewhere and he is not going to look at it. Buhari believes he has all the forces of enslavement. But I want to assure him that the South and the Middle Belt will rely on God to destroy the forces of Buhari. Buhari is confusing Nigerians; he and his party, the APC, are confusing the country. They are doing things that are unacceptable to the majority of the people. Buhari should be told that he is the president of Nigeria and not the president of Katsina. If he is the president of Nigeria and not the president of Katsina, he should embark on the restructuring of the country immediately.

He must let the country be restructured before any election if he is sincere. If a marriage is successful, will anybody seek divorce in that marriage? But when you have serious disaffection in a marriage, things will no longer be at ease. We know what we fought for to attain independence. Our togetherness was settled upon attaining independence. What we have now was forced on us by the military. If Buhari truly loves this country and is sincere about keeping it together, he will make a name for himself by going back to the 1960 constitution – then, I can heartily tell him, ‘Welcome to the democratic fold.’ The Buhari administration should stop the fake news they are spreading around that those calling for the restructuring of Nigeria want the country to break up – that is an evil propaganda. On the contrary, those against the restructuring of the country are the people who really want the country to break up.

Our opening verse, though a very popular verse in the Bible, isn’t fully understood and appreciated by many. It says anybody who believes in Jesus should not perish, but have everlasting life. That’s a spiritual decree. If you believe in Jesus, you’re automatically severed or separated from those that should perish; you’re not numbered amongst them. In addition, you receive something: eternal life; the very life and nature of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, _*“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”*_ When you come to Christ, you receive salvation, and are baptized into Him. He becomes your abode, and in Him, you’re a new creature, a new species of being; old things have passed away, and all things have become new.

You’re not the same person you used to be; you’re a new man, a new being in Christ Jesus! Your human life was supplanted by eternal life, the life and nature of God. Your body now houses a new type of life; this life in you makes you indestructible and supernatural, being the very life of God. John underscores this fact when he says, _*“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son”*_ (1 John 5:11).

The new birth and eternal life are present-hour realities of the Gospel. If you’re born again, you have eternal life. It’s not a promise; you have it in you now. If you don’t know about it, you’ll never put it to work; you’ll be living the human life even though you have a divine life. Be conscious of the divine life in you, and enjoy its riches and benefits. 1 John 5:13 says, _*“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life....”*_

The first commercial flight with a Fokker II was on 15 September 1920 to London. The arrival of the Fokker 70 from London on 28 October will complete the circle.
Modernising the fleet KLM Cityhopper began replacing its Fokker fleet with the modern E-Jet, Embraer 190 and Embraer 175+ in 2008. These new aircraft are facilitating further expansion of the existing network, higher flight frequencies, and lower costs. This wide-ranging modernisation means KLM Cityhopper can contribute to a more efficient and environmentally friendly operation in which quality and passenger comfort are top priorities.

Kazakhstan-UK Aerospace initiative
In a ground-breaking initiative, Cranfield University hosted a pioneering UK visit by some of Kazakhstan’s brightest aeronautical students for a summer school taster session.  A group of 36 specially selected teenagers, plus teachers, from Kazakhstan spent their time learning about science, aeronautical engineering and technology, during hands-on sessions at the Bedfordshire college.  The week-long visit, which took place in August, was the first in what’s hoped will be an annual event known as the Republican Aerospace Competition for Schools.
[size=undefined]High-ranking ambassadorial staff from the Kazakhstan government and embassy in London visited the students and told Aviation News how pleased they are to be working with the UK and Cranfield University on the project.  Dr Erlan Begezhanov, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in London said: “As an embassy we are very supportive of such activities and we are glad to see that young people from Kazakhstan have come here to this very well organised programme.”  He added: “We’ve seen the great facilities that our students are using at Cranfield, and think the academic syllabus prepared has been excellent.  I think that it might be a life-changing experience for the young people involved.”
Anuar Aitkali, who at 15 was one of the youngest students involved, said: “This builds a foundation on what I want out of life.  I wanted to be a mechanical engineer before I came here, but now I’m interested in becoming a pilot.  I have enjoyed learning about aerodynamics and the forces acting on aircraft – lift, thrust, drag and weight.  I knew some of the basics, but this will help me by giving me a lot more detailed information.”
During the stay at Cranfield the students attended lectures on air navigation, aero engines, aircraft carrier operations, and studied the university’s work in advanced aerodynamics.  Field visits were made to the Cardington-based Airlander 10 airship, and to the Imperial War Museum Duxford.  The Republican Aerospace Competition is supported by The Ministry of Justice, Air Astana, Samruk-Kazyna Trust, Nazabayev University, Schools Aerospace Challenge and Cranfield University.

Olaudah Equiano, who was known as Gustavus Vassa for most of his life, was a prominent African in London whose autobiography helped to end the slave trade in Britain.

Google marks the 272nd birthday of Equiano, who was born in the Eboe province, in the area that is now southern Nigeria, on October 16, 1745.

His early life is unclear due to the absence of records, but he recounted how he was kidnapped with his sister when he was 11.

He was sold by local slave traders and shipped across the Atlantic to Barbados and then Virginia.

In Virginia, Equiano was sold to Michael Pascal, a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, who renamed him 'Gustavus Vassa' after the 16th-century Swedish king.

Equiano had already been renamed twice: he was called Michael while onboard the slave ship that brought him to the Americas; and Jacob, by his first owner.

Equiano travelled the oceans with Pascal for eight years, during which time he found Christianity and was baptised as well as learning to read and write.


Pascal then sold Equiano to a ship captain in London, who took him to Montserrat, where he was sold to the prominent merchant Robert King.

King set Equiano to work on his shipping routes and in his stores, working as a deckhand, valet and barber whilst also earning money by trading on the side.

In 1765, when Equiano was about 20 years old, King promised that he could buy his freedom for £40 (worth £6000 in the present day).

In less than three years, he made enough money and was freed in 1967. Equiano then spent much of the next 20 years travelling the world, including trips to Turkey and the Arctic.

In 1786 in London, he became involved in the movement to abolish slavery. He was a prominent member of the 'Sons of Africa', a group of 12 black men who campaigned for abolition.

Equiano was befriended and supported by abolitionists, many of whom encouraged him to write and publish his life story.



In 1789 he published his autobiography, 'The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, the African'.

Equiano's personal account of slavery, his journey of advancement, and his experiences as a black immigrant caused a sensation on publication.

The book fuelled a growing anti-slavery movement in Britain, Europe, and the New World.

His account surprised many with the quality of its imagery, description, and literary style. Some readers felt shame at learning of the suffering he had endured.

The autobiography, published in 1789, helped in the creation of the Slave Trade Act 1807 which ended the African trade for Britain and its colonies.

In 1792, Equiano married an Englishwoman, Susanna Cullen, and they had two daughters.

Equiano died on 31 March 1797.

Abraham Omotoso, who stabbed a father to death in a busy high street while his young daughter was in a nearby shop, has been jailed.

Omotoso, 27, of Tudor Gardens, Harrow, was handed an 18-year prison sentence on Friday, 13 October, following a two-week trial, where he was found guilty of manslaughter at the Old Bailey.
He was found not guilty of murder.

Police were called at about 18:50hrs on Monday, 27 February to reports that a man had been stabbed on High Street in Wealdstone.

The man was taken to a central London hospital by the London Ambulance Service but despite the best efforts of medical staff and extensive surgery, he was pronounced dead at about 02:30hrs on Tuesday, 28 February.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Mohamed Al-Zufairi, a father-of-two from Harrow.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Shortly before 18:50hrs on Monday, 27 February, Mohamed arrived in High Street, Wealdstone, with his eight-year-old daughter. He sent her into Poundland to buy some items while he waited outside. It was then that he was approached by Omotoso.

Witnesses reported that they had a short argument before Omotoso, who was wearing a parka-style coat with the hood pulled up, stabbed Mohamed and ran from the scene still holding the knife.

Mohamed’s daughter did not witness the incident.
On Tuesday, 28 February police were notified that the suspect could have been someone by the name of Femi Omotoso. At about 18:00hrs, he was arrested on the suspicion of murder under the name of Abraham Omotoso at Gatwick airport having just purchased a one-way ticket to Nigeria with cash.

Detectives carried out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV which showed Mohamed walking with his daughter in High Street on 27 February before she goes into Poundland.
It also shows Omotoso walking in High Street in a ‘purposeful’ manner before approaching Mohamed, fleeing the scene and getting in a black Range Rover nearby and driving away.

Officers also tracked Omotoso’s movements in the days leading up to the murder and he was caught on CCTV wearing the same parka-style coat on two separate occasions.

Detectives also examined Omotoso’s mobile phone data which showed it was inactive between 12:40hrs and 19:09hrs on 27 February, which was not in line with Omotoso’s usual daily phone use patterns. The phone’s movement also matched the movement of the Range Rover that left the scene of the crime.

Omotoso remained silent in all of his police interviews. He was charged on 6 March.
Detectives believe the motive for the attack was an ongoing feud between the victim’s brothers and Omotoso’s brother and friends.

Detective Inspector Jon Meager, the investigating officer from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said:

"This was a brutal attack in a busy high street which resulted in a young father losing his life. While his daughter did not witness the assault, it is something that is undoubtedly going to affect her for life. Omotoso has shown no remorse for his actions on that day. I hope his conviction gives Mohamed’s family a measure of closure and comfort."

In a statement, Mohamed’s brother Jafar said:

"Mohamed was a family man, his family came first. I still can not really believe what has happened to Mohamed, the constant grief just gets worse. It’s like a massive hole just suddenly appeared in our family, our big brother was there one minute and suddenly he was snatched away. None of us can get a grasp of or understand. It makes it so much worse that we know that he was killed.

"I think it has hit his daughter the hardest. She did not see her dad being stabbed, but was with him. She walked to the local shops to get some sweets with her dad and returned home without him. She was the last one with, holding his hand as she says ‘Daddy never came home with me'.
"Our lives will never be the same, they have been scarred."

Bishop of Uyo Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend (Dr) Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, has stated that Muslims have a right to Islamise Nigeria because one of them is in power.


He lambasted Christians crying foul, noting that they had the opportunity to ‘christainize’ Nigeria but failed to do so.
Badejo said Christians in high offices only know how to engage in bickering and fight for positions, leaving out policies that would favour them.
I’ve always shared the view of one of our leaders, John Cardinal Onaiyekan. I believe that Muslims have an Islamisation agenda, and they have a right to have it”, he told Tribune.
 
“Do Christians have a Christianisation agenda? Yes, I hope so and we have a right to have it. The Muslims are pursuing an agenda; why are we not pursuing ours?
“Nigeria, for many many years, had a larger number of Christians in power. We failed when we should have worked, and that even now, instead of trying to catch up on our lapses, we’re busy pointing fingers.
“It’s part of Islam to Islamise; is it not part of our own programme too to evangelise? How much of it are we doing? The education curriculum, which caused so much row recently, was approved when a Christian was chair of the body.
“Christians are not an insignificant population in Nigeria. The next question to ask is: what kind of Christians? A large part of Christians today are Christians in name, who pursue power, position, privileges. That’s not Christianity.
“And that’s where I come to the issue of the prosperity gospel. We have not yet done research on how much damage prosperity gospel has done to the psyche of Christianity in our country.
“Prosperity gospel provides cheap solutions to complex realities of life and so many people have heard it. They believe that it is actually possible to have cancer and pray it away, when doctors are actually available; that it is possible to fail exams, and still become the director of a bank, if you pray enough.”

Delicious Nigerian Egusi Soup


On the menu today, is my delicious adaptation of a classic Nigerian Egusi recipe. This soup is prepared using dried blended melon seeds (Egusi) with the addition of fresh vegetables to enhance the taste of the dish; And of course not leaving out an assortment of meats which produces the home made stock needed to give an amazingly tasty resulting dish. I have used fresh pumpkin leaves (Ugwu) and a hand full of bitter leaves for my recipe today, just enough to leave a distinctive after bitter taste in your mouth. The sweet and bitter juxtaposition is truly amazing!

Egusi soup is a very popular dish in Nigeria. An amazing party food option and a great crowd pleaser any day. I used to enjoy eating Egusi soup with Eba until the markets became flooded with so many swallow options that are healthier and a bit more tender to the palates. I view Egusi soup as a true Nigerian delicacy because it is one of the dishes that is eaten in all parts of Nigeria, regardless of tribe. Even though there might be slight variations in its preparations and the overall ingredients that goes in the dish, it is then safe to say that Egusi soup cuts across all Nigeria borders. I call it a dish that speaks so many languages. What do you call it? 

Let’s cook! 

Ingredients

1) Dried Egusi (Melon seeds) 800g 

2) Scotch bonnets (Atarodo) 100g 

3) Meat assortments 1kg 

4) Cray fish 100g 

5) Pkomo 200g 

6) Dried fish 200g 

7) Palm oil 1 cup 

8) Bitter leaf 20g or about a handful 

9) Ugwu leaves (pumpkin leaves) 100g 

10) Seasoning 10g 

11) 1 large onion

12) Stockfish 

13) I cup of water ( for the egusi) 

14) Salt 3g 


Preparations 
1) Prepare all the ingredients by washing Thoroughly and slicing 

2) In a clean pot, add in the meats, kpomo, sliced onions, all of the seasoning and salt and parboil for 15 minutes or until tender





3) Now add in the dried fish, crayfish and the chopped scotch bonnets (atarodo) into the pot, stir and allow to simmer for another 3 minutes, then set this aside.

Quote:Cooks tip: I normally will not add in the dried fish at the same time as the meats, this is so that the fish does not totally scatter in the soup. I like to have large chunks of fish in my soup.

Quote:Cooks tip: it is good to note here that I have a large family that’s why I always use large measurements, if you have a small family, your measurements would naturally be in smaller amounts, so be careful the amount of water you add in your Egusi so it does not turn watery.

5) In a clean pot, add in the palm oil and allow to heat for 3 minutes, once this is ready, start making medium sized dollops of the Egusi into the hot oil, more like misshaped balls. Allow this to fry for 3 minutes



6) Quickly add in the meat stock into the pot, cover and allow to simmer for two minutes, before adding the meats, stir this well

7) Add in the chopped ugwu leaves, stir and add in the bitter leaves for the perfect tasting Egusi soup.

Catfish and Unripe plantain pepper soup



On the menu today is my delicious catfish pepper soup with unripe plantain. I mean, the weather in Nigeria right now will not permit me to think of anything other than spicy recipes, and rather than eat just pepper soup, I thought to add a staple to make the meal a balanced one. thereby, keeping my family warm with the spicy broth as well as satiated with the addition of the unripe plantain. 

This dish is indeed one to cosy up to, The fresh and fragrant aromatic spices and the fact that it is cooked slowly on low heat intensifies the flavors of this dish, making it just right for the weather. I am a seafood fan and i have been feeling feverish as of late, so having a bowl of this warm spicy broth along with the fish and plantains, makes it a wonderfully restorative dish for me this rainy season. 

This delicious dish is perfect for a family’s supper and it is incredibly easy to make, I will in fact call it a one pot wonder, there's not much fuss to it at all 

Lets cook! 

Ingredients

1) Fresh catfish 1kg 

2) Unripe plantains about 500g 

3) Blended crayfish 20g 

4) Blended dried chillies (as desired) 

5) Fresh scotch bonnets 5g ( I add this fresh at the end) 

6) Pepper soup spices (I usually make mine) 

7) 3 sprigs lemon grass 

8) Seasoning 8g 

9) Salt 2g 

10) Ginger and garlic 6g 

11) Small onion bulb 

12) Scent leaf to garnish 

Directions 
1) Wash the catfish and set into a large bowl, pour hot boiling water over the fish and leave this in for 3 minutes, pour the hot water out, you will find the slimy protective coating washing off, rinse with cold water and set aside 

2) Blend all the aromatic spices together in a dry miller and set aside 

3) Also blend the ginger and garlic with the onions and set aside too 

4) In clean pot, add in 3 cups of water or enough water to cook your fish, add in the unripe plantains, the blended spices, crayfish, dried chilies, lemon grass, ginger and garlic paste, seasoning and salt. Allow this to simmer for 6 minutes or until the plantains are tender


Cooks tip: this is the reason why I call it a one pot wonder, all of the ingredients goes into one pot almost at once, leaving no room for dirty pots and pans lying around and the best part, the dish always comes out delicious!


5) Now add in the fish head into the pot, fish head takes longer to cook, as compared to the other more tender parts of catfish. Give this 5 minutes to simmer slowly on low heat before adding in the rest of the fish parts. Give another 5 minutes and your delicious one pot wonder is ready!

Without doubt, churches have denominations and patterns of worship differ, but when you stumble on one, where weird activities are the order of the day and alcohol, animal sacrifices and biblical villains like Nebuchadnezzar, Ahab and even Satan are deified, then  you’ve just encountered worship redefined. Tabitha Pearl writes.
A Christian worship centre or church is a place where you expect everything but the absurd and the weird. But this was precisely what this reporter beheld few weeks back when she went snooping at “As God said, It Must Be Done, The temple of the Most High God,’ located in Oke-Aro in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
A mere N100 bus ride from the popular Agege/Pen Cinema Bus-Stop, took this reporter to As God Said Street – the street is named after the church. A short commercial motorcycle ride took this reporter to the church’s doorstep.
The temple is flanked on one side by what used to be a mosque and the other by a Celestial Church of Christ, which, strangely, wasn’t holding any service this Sunday. This reporter was however to soon discover during the nearly 10-hour-long service, that the mosque and the Celestial church had to evacuate their locations because of the new “Sheriff” in town.
The first thing that catches your attention as you walk into the church premises, depending on your keenness of sight, would either be the rather heavy use of the colours red and white; or the slaughter slab on the far right corner, though carefully concealed by the gigantic red gate. Beside the slab this fateful Sunday was a black goat waiting to be slaughtered and served to worshippers. Makes some sense though. If worshippers have to stay in church up to 10 hours or more, it just might be normal to consider feeding them.
Inside the temple, the love for red is even more pronounced. The floor has a fading red colour, which tells you it had originally been painted with glossy red paint; even the choir and a few members bear a touches of red on their dresses. No usher is seen ushering people in; there actually is no need for one, as the sitting arrangement is glaring enough, even to a first timer. Male worshippers sit to the right while female worshippers sit to the left.
Another thing you cannot miss as you walk into the temple is the altar. It is divided into two sections: a very high one, probably the holy of holies, reserved for the Most High, should he come visiting; and then a lower one, possibly where the seer, fondly called Papa, preaches from, whenever he returns from a visit to the Most High, which he claims he does often.
“I still communed with the Most High last month. I sit and discuss with Him often. I know his form. Who says we can’t see God?” he boasted amidst wild cheers from his followers.
On the higher altar is a massive chair, the type you find in kings’ palaces. That’s probably where the Most High sits when he visits. On the lower altar is a replica of that same seat, possibly for the Papa. On the far left of the lower altar is a seat like the earlier ones, only smaller in size. This is where the wife of the seer sits during service, albeit only on the invitation of her husband.
Right above the higher altar or holy of holies, is a line-up of some relics, the sort you’re only likely to find in a herbalist’s shrine. The most conspicuous of these would be an elaborate form of a skull, placed in the middle of two crossed bone-shaped pieces of woods – pretty much like the familiar skull and bones image, used to depict danger and death. There is also something like a big calabash, placed in the middle, leaving a first-timer wondering if this is a shine or a temple where God is worshipped.
Sunday Nation’s visit coincided with the 6th Anniversary Celebration of the worship centre. It was with great excitement that the seer, Blessed Dike-Oji-Ofo Chukwu announced to the dance-intoxicated congregation that, “Today, we are celebrating our sixth year of moving to this temple.”
This announcement was followed by an excited cheer from the worshippers.
The service, which was said to have begun at 8:30 am, ran for hours unending, with more than half the time spent singing and dancing, and – wait for this –  spraying those perceived by the seer to have danced best with money. Interestingly, the children seemed to be more favoured in the money rain, above the adults. In order to be sure if this was the general mode of worship or just a one-off thing to commemorate the anniversary celebration, our reporter sought the opinion of a female congregant.
Her excited response was, “When we come to the temple on Sundays, we are not in a hurry. We close when the seer says we will close, even until night, if that’s what he wants.”
After hours of singing, dancing and collecting contributions (tithe of the most high, answered prayer offering, temple offering, Caesar’s offering, offering of the earth altar – Exodus 20:24) from the congregants, this reporter was almost giving up on the hope of seeing the seer come out to deliver his sermon, when, to the relief of all members, he emerged at exactly 2:00pm – six whole hours into the service.
After speaking elaborately about the 6th anniversary and outlining the achievements the church has accomplished in the last six months, part of which, according to him, includes having the street where the temple is located named after it, the evacuation of the mosque and celestial church in the neighbourhood, amongst others;  he pronounced many blessings on the worshippers and began the day’s sermon.
“In just six years of our moving to this place, the street has been named after us; the mosque and Celestial church that we met here have left for us; no member of this temple has died; I have been made the Mayegun of Fakile land…
I prophesy to you, you will not fail, you will succeed, you will prosper; old and young will take risk for you to succeed; big and small will swear an oath for you to rise up and shine. In the name of the ancient of the days, I bless every one of you… In your marriages, you will succeed in the name of the living God.
The sun will not smote you by the day, neither will the moon smote you by the night; you will be protected. So shall it be in the name of the king of kings, in the name of the lord of hosts. In the name of the ‘God’ of “Nebuchadneze,” I bless thee. The ‘God’ of my ancestors, “Nebuchadnezzar” will change your story. As you have been serving “Nebuchadnezzar”, on this first day in the month of September 2017, “Nebuchadnezzar” is your ancestor and he will reward you; Pharaoh will reward you, Ahab will reward you. In the name of the living God I bless thee.”
After the prayer rain, the seer bellowed, “You’re free to ask me any kind of question after the teaching this afternoon. We are not operating the way other men of God operate; we operate by the inspiration of the living God.”
After this announcement, the sermon began without any introduction. The seer spoke about bishop and pope, how they are titles given by men not God. “Bishop and Pope is not recommended by God. Check from Genesis to Revelation, you can never see the title of Pope. If you check in the book of Titus, you will see a bishop is a man who is up and doing. All our deacon and deaconesses here, you are the same rank with bishop, there is no special title in that name, bishop. They can deceive men, not somebody like me.”
Quoting a passage in Titus, the seer asked the congregation to open their Bibles, so they could read together what the bible says about bishops. After searching the book of Titus without success, the seer’s reader came to the congregation’s rescue. The passage was actually in 1Timothy 3:1, not Titus. After the reading, he began another talk about Moses and Zippo rah. Soon, it was question time.
“Before I open the floor for questions, I want to appreciate one of my sons. I was in my palace when he called to say he had a gift for the temple. It was surprising what he brought; three cartons of big stout, one carton of ’33 Larger and one carton of Captain Black. We will soon share the drinks, but before then, come forward, my son, let me bless you.”
After praying to the Most High to bless the young man and prosper his business, the seer called forward a lady whose face betrayed no emotion. It was hard to tell if she was happy, sad or just didn’t care. By virtue of marriage, she had just become a new member of the church and was given a special seat among the women who sat in front row.
Soon, it was question time. The first question came from a boy, who was home for the long vacation. He wanted to know why the seer preaches that Jesus is not the saviour of the world and why they don’t pray in the name of Jesus. Indeed, this reporter had noticed all along that they weren’t praying in the name of Jesus, neither was the name mentioned throughout the service. In fact, songs that had the name in the name of Jesus were carefully edited and replaced with Saviour, Lord or Most High.
The seer’s response to the boy’s question however, was, “God is the Saviour of the whole world, not Jesus. It is the gospel of John that claims Jesus died for the sins of man; but let me tell you, the New Testament is a lie. The original word of God is the Old Testament; the New Testament is the gospel of men, and untrue.”
The obviously dissatisfied questioner, was, however, soon silenced with a promise of scholarship for an academic session, for exhibiting great intelligence. The worshippers also went wild with joy at this pronouncement, and everyone soon forgot that the boy’s question wasn’t quite answered.
Next, a man who spoke impeccable English, took the mic and asked, “Do you believe in life after life?” The seer’s response was affirmative. “Of course, there is life after life. Every time we say somebody died, what happened is that the person just changed address. Maybe the person closed his eyes (not died) in Oke-aro, he may wake up in Cotonou as a foreigner; or somebody else may sleep in Oke-aro and wake up in Ibadan. That is life after life, continuation of life. That is why the Most High gave everyone 1,000 years to live in this life. When you’ve lived up to 1,000 years, you’d have completed your sojourn in this life, you will now become among the ancestors.”
The idea of becoming one of the ancestors pleased the worshippers and got them cheering again, loudly.
Another worshiper, a lady, asked what this reporter considered a very important question: “Why do you say that our ancestors are Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh, Ahab? In other churches, they pray against these names.”
The seer’s response was, “They lack knowledge. Nebuchadnezzar is my ancestors. Satan is my elder brother. See, that name Nebuchadnezzar is not a personality but a phenomenon. It means the wrath of God upon his children. But all those churches that pray against these names don’t understand. Is it possible to have the goodness of God and not have his wrath? That’s Nebuchadnezzar. My daughter, do you understand?” This was followed by a nod from the worshipper and a loud cheer from the congregation.
At this point, this reporter burned with curiousity and wanted to ask several questions: “Can they call themselves Christians if they don’t believe in Jesus Christ? Why do they still perform animal sacrifices? Why is the altar divided into two sections and what do the relics on it symbolize? Why do men cover their head while praying? Is it true they drink alcohol during service and why?
But it was another female member, who got the mic to ask her question. She began by introducing herself as a first-timer, but the seer counseled her not to call herself a first-timer. “Don’t call yourself a first-timer. There are no first-timers in the presence of the Most High. You are just a lost child, who has found her way home, and the Most High is always ready to receive you.
Her question was, “Why did you direct us to read from the New Testament this morning, even though you said it’s all a lie?” That was to be the last question of the day, because the seer was obviously thrown off balance and events soon overtook the question time.
“This lady you are seeing is a very intelligent lady;” the seer began. Pointing to the male section, he continued, “That’s her husband over there and it is whatever she says that happens in her marriage.” Soon, the question was left unanswered and a prayer and thanksgiving session began for the supposed couple, whom the seer said was believing God for the fruit of the womb. It turns out that this assertion was false, as this reporter had met the couple on their way out and they revealed that they were not even engaged, much less married, and neither had they need for children as the seer had declared.
But, why didn’t they refute what he said since it wasn’t true? The guy, who gave his name as Ade, said, “We were directed by a friend to consult the seer to see if we are destined for each other. But with that false prophecy, we know better than to believe anything he says.”
Drinking time
After praying for the couple, the seer asked for the drinks offered by the male worshipper to be brought in. After taking two bottles himself, he opened one bottle each for the women occupying the special seat in front, after taking a swig from each bottle. Children and adults who do not take alcohol were served 7’UP.
Amidst the drinking, one lady began staggering for nearly 15 minutes. An easy guess would be that it was the effect of the wine, but she soon steadied herself and requested for the mic. She had a testimony. According to her, her menstrual flow had ceased for about three months, but when she ate kolanut in church the previous Sunday, her menses began to flow again. The seer took time to explain that in the early days of his ministry, he used to serve his members the emblem used in other assemblies (unleavened bread and fruit of the vine) but after a while, the Most High warned him not to give the bread and fruit of the vine to his sons and daughter or else he will slay them. Now, their emblem for communion is kolanut and blended alligator pepper.
In a bid to prove his position on the regular emblems, the seer went to his ‘palace’ to produce the unleavened bread, which he ordered them pass round for the congregants to see. A few of them, who had at one time or the other taken the bread, requested to have a taste of it. He obliged them, while announcing, “I know that I said the most high asked me not to give you people this thing, but don’t worry, this one you are eating will not kill you.”
As at 5;00pm when this reporter quietly left the temple, the service had yet ended. Kolanut was about to be served and they still awaited the meal that was being prepared with the goat that was slaughtered earlier on. (TheNation)

TOPIC ✨ THE NEW CREATION NEEDS NO DELIVERANCE✨

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Colossians 1:13).

Our opening verse is a present-truth. A verse like this makes one wonder at folks who though born again, are still seeking deliverance. The Word says God has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has transferred us into the Kingdom of His love-Son. He’s done it already. You don’t need any deliverance. Even the non-Christian has been delivered, because the death of Jesus Christ brought redemption, deliverance to all men, not just those who become Christians.

Understand who the Christian is: He’s a new creation, a brand new man; he was never set free from sin or from Satan, because he was never in servitude to sin or Satan. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says if any man is in Christ, he’s a new species of being that never existed. Everything about your life, right from the moment you received Christ, is brand new. You have a brand new life that’s not subject to the devil, sin and its consequences.

It just doesn’t add up to think God would give birth to a new creation that’s subject to Satan! James 1:18 says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.”*_ We’re literally born of God; we’re His legal and vital offspring, with power and authority to cast out devils. We’re one with God; we have His very life, and are in His class of being! This is who the Christian really is! He’s been raised together with, and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, far above all principalities and powers.

If at any time, Satan or any of his demons shows up around you, cast him out. You have the power and authority in the Name of Jesus to that effect. Irrespective of the experiences that you may have had, what you might be going through now or what you think, God’s Word remains true: you’re superior to Satan; keep him where he belongs—under your feet!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for guiding me in continuous victory! I reign and rule over the elements of this world by walking in your Word, manifesting the power of the Spirit! I’m seated with Christ in the heavenly realms, far above all principalities and powers. Thank you for your glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What are some of the most memorable moments of your childhood?
One of the most memorable moments of my childhood was when my dad came home one day after work, and told me, “Get dressed, we’re going downtown.’’ Little did I know he was taking me to Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, to watch WWE ‘Monday Night Raw,’ live.
Considering that you were born in New York, how much of Nigeria did you know while growing up?
 Growing up, I didn’t know much about Nigeria. Prior to me moving to Nigeria in 2012, I had only traveled to Nigeria twice; when I was three and when I was six. The only thing that resonated with me over the years was the music. My dad played a lot of Nigerian music in the house, and we also attended a Nigerian church.
What struck you the first time you visited Nigeria?
The first time I visited Nigeria was when I was three. I really don’t remember anything about that trip, apart from stories that my family told me. According to them, I was talking to a baby chicken, asking it to be my friend.
 You once said you were introduced to the sounds of KSA and Shina Peters at a young age; was your father a musician?
My father wasn’t a musician, but he loved music. He played so much music around us, and if he wasn’t around, you would notice his absence. I had a genuine love for music because of him. Consequently, when I was seven , I decided that I wanted to join the church choir.
Since you started as a chorister, why didn’t you become a gospel artiste?
I was a chorister and an instrumentalist in the choir, I don’t think that classifies me as a gospel artiste. Once I developed a liking for hip hop, I was automatically drawn to it, and that’s when I started creating my own.
Why did you drop out of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice?
I decided to leave college because of my passion for music. Most of the time, when I was sitting for lectures, all I could think about was making music. I always knew I had a higher calling. It was a hard decision, but I followed my instincts.
 Your name, Iceberg Slim, is gotten from an American pimp; why did you choose that particular name?
The name was given to me when I was 16, by my cousin, Bleu. He said I had so many girls around me that I should be called a pimp. At that time, I had no idea who the original Iceberg Slim was, but the name sounded cool, so I stuck with it.
Why didn’t you decide to pursue your music career in the United States?
I didn’t want to pursue a career in the United States because I wanted to stand for something bigger. I was seen as a typical African-American aka Black guy; however I am a Nigerian. I want to be known as a Nigerian musician, not a Black or African-American musician. But in order to do that, I would have to connect with my people; my fellow Nigerians. That was what influenced my decision to move to Nigeria.
How exactly did you get into the entertainment industry?
I got into the entertainment industry simply by listening to and following instructions from my cousins. My cousin, Wole Olowokere, aka Bleu, was an intern with the music group, Ruff Ryders, back when DMX was topping charts. He gave me a lot of pointers and advice on how to set myself apart from everyone else, and how to master my craft. Wole’s elder brother, Tunde, aka Buck 3000, was a producer and engineer for Murder Inc. Records when Ja Rule was arguably the biggest artiste in the U.S. He took me around a lot, and I learned so much just from watching and listening to many professionals. I later started to apply the things I picked up, and people eventually started to notice me.
You once had a collaboration with Jarule; how did that come about and what was the experience like?
The collaboration wasn’t planned. I was in the studio with Buck 3000, recording a remix to Plies’ Plenty Money. When we were done,  we sat there playing it back, Ja Rule walked in. He was singing along with us while the song was on playback for about five minutes, then he looked over at me, and in his deep husky voice, he said, ‘Yo Ice, can I jump on this joint with you?” And the rest is history. It was a humbling experience, and I’m forever grateful.
You’ve worked with 2face and Tiwa Savage; which other Nigerian artiste would you like to work with?
I would love to work with Lara George, Wande Coal and Simi. I’m probably their biggest fan, and they don’t even know it.
 Do you think you have been accepted by the Nigerian music industry?

I was on Tiwa Savage’s Shout Out with Sarkodie, and I also featured Shatta Wale on the remix of my single, Wave. These songs received good airplay in Ghana, although I haven’t done any formal promotion over there.

The motivation behind my hairstyle is simply the reflection of my being. I’m unique; one of a kind and rare. It’s something different that sets me apart from everyone else.
You have a wonderful relationship with Juliet Ibrahim; what was the point of attraction for you?
Juliet is an amazing woman. When we first met, I was intrigued by her peculiar choice in music. After we spoke for a little bit, I was blown away by her intelligence, ambition and kind heart.

I don’t think there are words to describe the relationship. To say it’s incredible would be an understatement.

Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday unveiled a giant statue of South Africa president Jacob Zuma in Owerri Imo state.
Zuma is on a two day visit to Owerri, Imo State, South East Nigeria. He was confered a traditional chieftaincy title by the state governor, a road was named after him and then, a statue of him unveiled in Owerri city.
Governor Okorocha also conferred on President Zuma, the Imo Merit Award, the highest award in the State conferred on distinguished personalities who have made a difference in the development of their communities and to humanity.
This has triggered fierce reactions from Imo state indigenes, Nigerians who took to social media to vent their disappointment and anger.
The visit of President Zuma, according to Imo State government, is for the signing of an MoU between Rochas Foundation with the Zuma Foundation.

The lawyer representing billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans), has accused officers of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team of extorting money and valuables running into hundreds of millions of naira from his client.
PremiumTimes reports that Olukoya Ogungbeje, who petitioned the Police Service Commission on Friday, also accused the officers of sexually molesting Evans’ girlfriend, Amaka Offor.
The petition was also copied to the National Assembly, the Inspector General of Police, the National Human Rights Commission, and Amnesty International.
You recall, Evans pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping last August, and is currently at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison awaiting sentencing by a Lagos court.
But in this latest development, Mr. Ogungbeje accused the police, who detained him (Evans) for almost three months, before his first appearance in court, of forcefully collecting millions of naira as well as valuables and properties from his client.
“For the avoidance of doubt, it is our secured brief that in the course of investigating our client while being detained in the custody of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on the allegation of kidnapping, the following under-listed items were forcefully and corruptly extorted from our client.

1. The sum of N50, 000,000 (Fifty Million Naira) cash.
2. Another sum of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira) sent by our client’s wife as pressured by the above policemen.
3. Twenty-five (25) Mack Trucks forcefully taken but not listed as exhibits in the ongoing criminal trial of our client.
4. Brigade wristwatch worth One Hundred and Seventeen (117) Thousand U.S Dollars.
5. Pendant cross worth Seventy (70) Thousand U.S Dollars.

Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relations Officer, did not immediately respond to requests for comments, PremiumTimes reports.

TOPIC ✨ THE NEW BIRTH: A MUST FOR EVERY MAN✨

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again (John 3:7).

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” All men sinned in Adam and came legally under Satan’s dominion. How did this happen? Romans 6:16 says, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Adam obeyed Satan and became his servant; he submitted his authority to Satan. That’s the authority Satan uses today to oppress and keep man in bondage.

To be free from Satan’s dominion, man has to be born again, and become a new creature. This new creation is made possible by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible calls Him the first begotten of the dead (Revelation 1:5). He’s the first to rise from spiritual death, and all those who are born again have also come out of spiritual death.

This is why we preach the Gospel, so that men may know they don’t have to be in bondage to Satan anymore. They don’t have to be cut off or alienated from the life of God. Consider the description of those who aren’t born again in Ephesians 2:12: they’re “...aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.”

How could anyone live without God? How could anyone live in such utter darkness and blindness? Nothing could be more deplorable and hopelessly terrible! It’s the reason Jesus said, “Marvel not that I said…Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). When you’re born again, you’re at once transferred from the domain of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. You’re immediately separated from death unto life, and you’ll never perish (John 3:16).

Failure, sickness, defeat, poverty and everything that’s of darkness aren’t a part of your life now that you’re born again: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

CONFESSION
I believe that God raised up Jesus from the dead, and boldly affirm the Lordship of Jesus over my life. Therefore, I’m a partaker of the divine nature, and I live the life of glory, righteousness, success, health, prosperity and victory in Christ. Hallelujah!

The organised labour in Nigeria has rejected the resolution of the House of Representatives seeking the upward review of the minimum wage for Nigerian workers to N30,000 from the current N18,000.
Punch newspaper reports that the President of the Trade Union Congress, Bobboi Kaigama, said yesterday that the organised labour is demanding N56,000.

He stated that the labour unions were awaiting the executive arm of government to set up a committee to speed up the process.
“The procedure is for the tripartite body to sit down and agree on a figure, present it to the National Executive Council, National Council of State and to the National Assembly,” he said.
Members of the House of Representatives had warned that a nationwide strike by workers over low wages could force the country’s economy back into recession.
The lawmakers therefore urged the Federal Government to increase the current minimum wage to N30,000 to avert workers’ strike.

• Using an old frying pan, roast the nutmeg seeds. stirring constantly till you can smell it. Try to remove the outer membrane, if it comes off easily, then the nutmeg is done.

• Peel off the nutmeg skin and grind/blend or pound into a smooth powder and set aside. Slice the onions and set aside.

• Cut the chicken into sizeable chunks and place in a pot. Pour water just enough to cover the chicken, add the crushed seasoning cubes and chopped onions then bring to the boil.

• Once it starts to boil add the ground pepper, nutmeg, thyme and salt to taste then continue cooking for about 5 more minutes.

• Once the chicken is done, add the chopped scent leaves. Leave to simmer for about 3 minutes and it's ready!

Chicken pepper soup is usually served hot on its own or with agidi/eko, white rice or yam and any drink of choice. Enjoy!

• Then add the, nutmeg, thyme, ground crayfish, pepper and the chopped uziza/basil leaves; mix thoroughly and cook for 5 minutes or until the Goat meat is tender or well cooked.

• That's it, you just made a delicious pot of Nigerian goat meat pepper soup. Serve hot and enjoy.

2. Manner of approach. Do you know how to the the 'sir-ma' thing? Try as much as possible to address your every sentence affixed with a 'sir' or 'ma.' Use the modal auxiliary 'may' in asking questions; 'may I ask few questions, said?'
In conclusion, seem grateful, thank them for their time; 'it's been great discussing with you ma, do have a lovely day.'

3. Collocation, rules of concord, and misuse of tenses. If you are having problems with any of these, do read, read, and read again. You may also want to read our article on twenty wrong expressions misused and twenty-eight collocations misused by Nigerians. Use your tenses well. Don't try to be grandiloquent (without a job?). 9. You are expected to write a formal letter. The supposed submitted formal letters these days are news papers. I have seen so many complaining and lamenting their ordeal in the hands of fake scam companies who invite people for interview only to introduce them to fake drug marketing business.
I'm doing this not only because these companies waste people's time, energy and T-fair going to such interviews, but also because most of these scammers extort money from hapless job seekers thereby making their suffering times two.
Imagine a scammer extorting #10,500 from a graduate who have been unemployed for years, not to talk of the transport fare wasted going to such fruitless interviews or job chat as they usually call it.
Some people even borrow money to pay these sheep in wolves clothing, who promise them heaven on earth. Some will tell you that you will make half a million within 1 month and all that. If you're not careful, you will take a loan that you will not be able to repay thus causing embarrassment and lack of rest of mind. An unemployed person should have only himself to worry about, not having debts also.

So I believe that if we are properly guided, we will not fall into the hands of these scammers.
Having said that, there are ways by which one can identify a fake or scam interview invitation and there fore avoid such waste of time and money. The good thing is that most of their messages come in the same format, so you will know its fake!

1. The message does not bear a company name: most of these scammers won't include their names on the message you will receive. All you will see are the address, the time and date and a phone number. A genuine company will not hide its identity from a potential employee.

2. The message will say "interview/job briefing": whatever job briefing means I don't know!
3. You will see a code or reference: something like "HR=0056" or "REF=002". This is an indication of the code number of the person who invited you to the "job briefing".
4. It will contain a phone number: this is the number of your referer. Most genuine companies don't give phone numbers.
5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of company name
6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company.


And pls, ignore those people sharing job flyers on the streets, and those ones they paste on walls. Those are scammers and some ritualists too. And also most of these so called agencies are avenues for duping unsuspecting job seekers. Pls shine your eyes well well.
I will post the names of some of these fake companies/ agencies later.

I have attended hundreds of such interviews before, they would tell you about Dangote, Otedola, Otunba Gadafi (mobile toilet) etc. In such their chats they roll out their dos and donts such as, you must never answer a phone call, you cannot take an excuse to ease yourself at the restroom, no side talk, no getting up to do anything, infact once you enter their so called interview room, to get out is by stubborn determination. At the end of the day, they tell you to come and register with certain amount of money and become their "drug dealer". Pls shine your eyes. The OP has already given you most of their common gimmicks like the HR stuff, Ref code and their usual "Job briefing" line

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:10).

There’s a difference between sense knowledge faith and spiritual knowledge faith. Sense knowledge faith is the faith that you’ve acquired through the senses; it’s the mother of modern inventions. Most of the institutions that we have today are the products of sense knowledge faith. In fact, you spent all your years in school building your faith on sense knowledge.

Sense knowledge faith is based on our observations, on what we can relate with using our senses of smell, sight, feeling, taste, and hearing. That’s why you hear people say, “If I can see it, I will believe it. If I don’t see it, I will never believe.” It’s because they’ve built their faith with their senses over the years. But that kind of faith is dependent on your physical body; your body houses your senses.

You’re however, not a body; you’re a spirit being. So, your senses can’t contact God. You don’t believe with your mind; you reason with your mind. Our opening verse says with the heart man believes, not with the mind. The heart is your spirit.

Being born again, God doesn’t expect you to run your life with sense knowledge faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Sight means sensory perception! Romans 8:13 tells us, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” The flesh refers to the senses; but you’re to live by faith in God’s Word.

God’s faith, spiritual faith, comes from hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” When God’s Word comes to you, faith comes with it. The Word imparts faith to your spirit. That’s how come, for example, you’re able to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, without resorting to any scientific proof. You neither had to “feel” that He is, nor experience a visitation from an angel in the night, to know. The Word says He is, you heard it, and that spiritual knowledge imparted the faith to your spirit to receive it. Praise God!

Thank you Father for the wisdom and revelation I receive from your Word. My faith is active and it prevails, because it’s based on spiritual knowledge. I’m making progress and flourishing on every side as I grow in grace and in the knowledge of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Psalm 91:3-7 is so comforting. It reveals God’s commitment to protect and take care of you—even in the midst of all the troubles and crises in the world! It says, _*“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”*_

Do you see why you should never faint or be dismayed by the happenings around you? Trust the Lord and His Word. You’re divinely protected from the wickedness and devilry in today’s world: whether at night, or in the day, the Lord protects and takes care of you. You’re in safety. Your faith response, therefore, should be, “Christ is in me, with me, and for me; therefore, I’m forever victorious!”

He said in Isaiah 43:2, _*“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”*_ The environment in which you live is such that nothing can harm or destroy you. That environment is Christ.

To be in Christ is to be in God’s secret place of rest and protection. Psalm 91:1-2 says, _*“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”*_ Christ is your refuge! In Him, you have nothing to fear, because you’re in safety and in prosperity. The world may be plagued with inflation and economic meltdowns, but your blessings and prosperity in Christ are guaranteed.

A 17-year-old teenage boy reportedly stabbed another 25-year-old man to death during a scuffle at Tudun Wada area of Zaria.

It was gathered that the fight started over a minor disagreement between the teenager and the victim.


The teenager filled with anger stabbed the victim with a scissors on his shoulder and chest, leading to his death.
According to a resident, Abubakar Usman who shared on Facebook, they didn’t know when the fight got serious and teenager stabbed the 25-year old man.
“This boy resting on his knees killed this man yesterday at Tudun Wada, Zaria, just because of small fight and the 17 year-old boy got angry and stabbed the 25 year-old man with a scissors through his shoulder and his chest.
“That’s why our prophet (S.A.W) taught us to control our temper when we are angry. Anybody that failed to follow the teachings of our prophet will regret here and hereafter.”

TOPIC ✨ MORAL EXCELLENCE✨

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue… (2 Peter 1:5).

“Virtue,” in our opening verse, means principle, moral goodness or excellence. God wants you to add that to your faith. You already have faith: “…according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3). But as important as faith is, there’re certain things the Lord requires you to add to your faith if you’re to have a life of persistent productivity and ever-increasing glory. One of it is moral excellence.

God wants you to run your life by some godly standards and principles, and you’re to employ diligence in doing this: “…giving ALL DILIGENCE , add to your faith virtue.”*_ This isn’t something you should be casual about; you’re to painstakingly and conscientiously see to it that your life is marked by some high moral standards; standards and principles from God’s Word.

For example, the Bible tells us that Jesus went to the house of God, the synagogue, as His custom was (Luke 4:16). Is that your standard? Do you have it as a custom, a principle, to go to church when it’s time for church? Or do you only go when it’s convenient? Some people only go to church when they feel like it; they have no standards. They lack moral excellence.

However, for Jesus, it was customary for Him to go to the synagogue. You ought to have that kind of discipline in your life: when it’s time to go to church, you go, because that’s the right thing to do, irrespective of other considerations that may arise.

In addition, have definite prayer and Word-study programmes and schedules. Don’t pray or study the Bible accidentally or casually, only when you feel like it. Let these be activities that are hallowed parts of your day and routine. Inculcate the discipline; it’s an indispensable ingredient for a highly effective, successful, and persistently productive life.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for showing me the importance of lavishly supplying moral goodness or excellence to my faith. The Spirit of excellence at work in me brings discipline and stability into my life, causing me to be diligent, ever fruitful and productive, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

'Cannibal couple' who murdered and ate 30 people in Russia also had CAT and DOG meat stored in their fridge, forensic tests reveal

3 unidentified Chinese women, pictured with swollen faces and bandages around their head after undergoing Plastic Surgery in South Korea, were stopped from flying home because they now look different from their passport pictures
Jian Huahua, a Chinese news anchor who shared photos of the women on Sunday, revealed that the photo was taken at one unnamed airport in South Korea.
Though he deleted it, it has long gone viral.
‘The Beijing Things Beijingers Don’t Know’, who re-shared the photo on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter, claimed the three women who were among Chinese tourists who had gone to South Korea for plastic surgery during the eight-day national holiday, were prevented from leaving the airport and waited for their identities to be confirmed.
Though the result of their wait at the airport is still unclear, however Mail Online reports that the photo which sparked mixed reaction on social media, has garnered over 66,740 ‘likes’, shared over 27,800 times with 37,860 comments.

State governor Nasir El-Rufai said 21,780 teachers, two-thirds of the total, had failed to score 75% or higher on assessments given to pupils. He said 25,000 new teachers would be recruited to replace them.

Mr El-Rufai made the comments at a meeting with World Bank representatives in the state capital, Kaduna.

"The hiring of teachers in the past was politicised and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state," he was quoted as saying.

Mr El-Rufai said problems with pupil-teacher ratios across the state would also be addressed.

He said some areas currently had one teacher for every nine pupils while in other areas the ratio was one to 100.

TOPIC ✨ A MESSAGE OF LOVE✨

It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but canceling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation [of the restoration to favor] (2 Corinthians 5:19 AMPC).

The message of the Gospel is so simple. Our opening verse richly summarizes it as a message of love. Love doesn’t consider wrongs or hold an offence against the offender. The Bible says God isn’t counting men’s sins against them. That’s the message He’s charged us to preach around the world. God knows they would turn away from their sins and fall in love with Him if they heard and accepted His Gospel of love.

The reason the world doesn’t know God is that they don’t know how much He loves them. Love begets love. When they understand the love of God, they’ll respond accordingly. This is the reason He tells us to tell the world of His love. You too once had the Gospel preached to you before you received salvation. Thus, it’s your responsibility to take the same message of His love that transformed your life to the ends of the earth.

It’s our job—yours and mine—to let the world know that though sin separated man from God, the Lord Jesus consummated the reconciliation, and made peace between God and man through the sacrifice of His blood. Through that sacrifice, He presented all men holy and without blame to God (Ephesians 1:4). He delivered all men from the dominion and thraldom of darkness, and today, anyone who receives Him, receives newness of life; a life of righteousness. This is the good news He’s committed to us to preach.

We’re God’s ambassadors, sent into the world as ministers of reconciliation. The world will never hear or know what God has done if we don’t announce the Gospel through every available means. That’s why you must be a Gospel-activist, spreading the message of Christ’s love to your world, and to the regions beyond.

Just as Christ is your life (Colossians 3:3), and also your righteousness, sanctification, and riddance (redemption), He’s also your wisdom. He being your wisdom means you’re the embodiment of all wisdom and knowledge, for the Bible says all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are replete in Him (Colossians 2:3), and He lives in you.

When you talk or act, wisdom is seen and heard. You have the right mindset, because Christ has been made unto you wisdom. Have this consciousness. Respond by declaring, “Christ is my wisdom; I’m excellent, and I do excellent things.” Someone may hear you talk that way and think you’re boastful, but you’re not; you’re establishing the truth about who you are in Christ.

The Spirit of wisdom that the Apostle Paul talked about in Ephesians 1:17 is in you. Even now, declare that the wisdom of God is seen and heard in you today, and that you’re propelled by wisdom to function in the perfect will of God. Affirm that the controlling force to always be in the centre of God’s will, and have insight into the realities of the Kingdom is at work in your life.

Recognize and acknowledge that you’re full of the wisdom of God. Now and again, consciously declare that the wisdom of God in your heart and in your mouth is seen and heard!

My love for cooking allows me experiment any meal, add or subtract, some people believe fresh fish(frozen) is best vegetable okra soup,well I say variety is the spice of life,I have prepared both, can't decide which is sweeter though. 

ingredients for turkey okra soup 
-okra
-turkey
-dry fish
-cow skin(ponmo)
-cray fish
-pumpkin leave(ugu)
-palm oil
-dry grinded pepper (preferably Cameron pepper,nice scent)
-seasoning 
-locust bean (if desired)

method of cooking
wash and grate okra using a grater( I use knife and a chopping board or knife only)
wash,put turkey and dry fish in a pot add salt,onion,curry thyme,Maggi (grate nut meg if u wish,love the smell)
add the dry grinded pepper
allow it to cook for about10mins add palm and cover till the turkey is cooked
add grinded crayfish and locust beans
add cow skin
add okra
add pumpkin leave 
allow it to boil for 2 min and its ready.

NB:make sure the quantity of water is not so much, better the soup is thick than to be too watery,you can always add water if its too thick
*the hardness of the cow skin determines the time you would add it. if soft,add it late but if hard, add it to turkey immediately
*same methods with chicken, beef, fresh fish etc

Veggie Stir-Fried Rice


On the menu today is the delicious veggie stir-fried rice, an amazing one pot rice dish that will make your family hurry on to the table.The beauty of a rice dish lies in its versatility, you can take this staple and turn it into many different dishes, that is,you can totally own a rice dish by adding in or taking out condiments that you agree with and It will still be grand! 

This recipe is a vegetable based one, However, I have added chunky chicken sausage cuts in it as well.you can add other condiments or take out, it totally depends on you. The whole idea is to get your family to the lunch table, so find foods and vegetables that work best for them. 

If you have got kids, it will help to cut the veggies into fun shapes. Children are very visual and picky with their food, if they find it colorful and interesting, they get drawn to that dish. Just play around with your food in terms of color and watch the taste change too. As you already the know, the more colors you have got in you food, the more nutrients therein. For my rice stir fries, there always has to be green bell peppers and garlic in it. These two condiments have an amazing way of making the rice dish fragrant, as well as taste good.

You can serve this with any meat assortments of your choosing, I served mine without any meats as there's enough chunky sausage cuts in it.I actually have a similar recipe to this one, that I made earlier on the blog, 

Let's cook!

Ingredients

1)Basmati rice 400g 
2) carrots 20g
3) Sweet corn 20g
4) Green bell peppers 10g
5) 2 whole Scotch bonnets ( for some heat!)
6) Spring onions a small bunch
7) Green peas 20g
8) Green beans 5g
9) Garlic 1/4 of a bulb
10) 5 Sausages
11) Olive oil 1/4 of a cup
12) Seasoning 8g
13) Salt 


Directions 
1) Prepare all the ingredients first by washing and chopping appropriately 

2) Add in the basmati rice into a large clean pot, with about 4 cups of water, allow this to parboil for 4 minutes and nothing more, drain this in a sieve or colander and set aside 

Cooks tip: basmati rice tends to cook quickly so it's best to watch it intently during the parboiling stage, just so you do not  over cook it and spoil the dish all together

3) Now in a clean wok or pan as the case maybe, add in the olive oil about 1/4 of a cup.
Cooks tip: I have used this much olive oil because, I did not make use of any stock in this dish and this might give a dry outcome and you really don't want that.
 
4) Now allow this to heat for two minutes, then add in the sliced onions and roughly grated garlic, stir fry this for a minute or until the fragrance from the garlic has began to waft through the the kitchen!



5) Add in the sausage chunks; allow to fry for a minute, add in the green peppers and carrots, peas and green beans then continue stir frying for another minute



6) Now add in the basmati rice, mix this well and keep stir frying, then add in the sweet corn mix

 7)then finally add in the seasoning and salt, stir well and your awesome one pot wonder is ready to be enjoyed by your family. this dish all together takes less that 15 minutes to get onto the table which makes it really amazing. It is a must try I tell you.

Nigerian oha soup recipe


Oha soup is on a menu today, a traditional soup that is indigenous to the Eastern part of Nigeria. With oha leaves, assorted meat and cocoa yam or achi as its main ingredients, this soup is known to be close to the heart of all easterners. it however, has become very popular and now relished by most Nigerian families. 

Oha soup or ofe ora as it called in some regions, has similarities in its preparations with bitter leaf soup (Ofe Onugbu), the distinction lies in the use of the special oha leaves which has its distinctive taste that sets it apart from other vegetables. Oha is a seasonal vegetable, this is not very good news because, it means that, this delicious delicacy cannot be enjoyed all year round. 

I ate this soup for the first time at my brother- in- laws place, I have spoken about him before on this blog, he is from the east and he performs wonders in the kitchen. He explained that, oha leaves are very tender and quite easy to shred and shredding the oha leaves with our hands as opposed to using a knife, prevents the leaves from turning black. I have never used a knife since then. If you decide to use a knife, please let me know how the color turns out but for now, let’s cook! 

Ingredients

1) 1 bunch oha leaves 
2) Oziza leaves a handful 
3) Cocoyam 5medium size pieces 
4) Palm oil 3 table spoons 
5) Assorted meat(beef, shaki(tripe) pkomo )1kg 
6) Stockfish 200g 
7) Dry fish 200g 
8) Blended dry chillies ( as desired) 
9) Blended crayfish 100g 
10) Ogiri (okpehe) 10g 
11) Onions 1 medium sized bulb 
12) Seasoning 8g 
13) Salt 2g 

Directions 
1) Prepare all the ingredients by washing them thoroughly 

2) Pick the Oha leaves and shred roughly into small pieces with your hands, set this aside 

3) Peel and wash the cocoyam, parboil until tender and pound into a smooth paste, alternatively, you can leave to cool for a bit, pop into a blender with the addition on half a cup of water, blend until smooth and set aside



Cooks tip: you also have the option of using achi as a thickener, if you have no interest for the cocoyam.

 
 4) In a clean pot, add in the meats, stock fish, sliced onions, all of the seasoning and salt, mix well and allow to simmer for 3 minutes or until the meats start releasing juices 

5) Now add in 3 cups of water, stir well and allow to simmer for another 6 minutes or until the meats are tender enough for you 

6) Once this is done, add in the dried fish



Cooks tip: I always add in my dried fish after tenderizing my meat, so that it does not scatter in the cooking process, I like to have nice bite size pieces of fish in my soup.

 7) Add in the pepper and blended crayfish and ogiri(locust beans) at this point and cook for another 5 minutes



 8) Now add in the cocoyam paste that you prepared earlier, add this in one spoonful at a time so as to control the consistency, I prefer my oha not overly thick.

9) Now add in the palm oil, cover the pot and allow to simmer until the cocoyam paste has dissolved, you can add more water if the soup is too thick, just be sure to get your desired consistency.

10) Add in the oha and oziza leaves, cover the pot now and allow the soup to simmer for another 3 minutes and your delicious Oha soup is ready to be served with any swallow of your choice!

*FRATERNAL AFFECTION .*

Monday, October 9th .

_*...giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. (2 Peter 1:5-7).*_

The Greek word for brotherly kindness is “Philadelphia,” which means fraternal affection; learning to be helpful in a brotherly manner; having godly affection for your brethren. When you have “Philadelphia,” it means you esteem, honour and love others dearly.

It’s what the Lord wants, and it’s something you have to practise. He said, _*“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another”*_ (Romans 12:10). Practise kindness; practise walking in love. Practise honouring and esteeming others. This is one of the prerequisites for a fruitful and productive life. 2 Peter 1:8 says, _*“…if these things be in you, and abound,*_ (one of which is brotherly kindness) _*they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”*_

Part of fraternal affection is to always speak kindly of, and be pleasant to, your brothers and sisters. God places a far greater premium on inter-personal relationships among His children than most people realize. He said in Galatians 6:10 (TLB): _*“Whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone and especially to our Christian brothers.”*_ That means you ought to give preference to your brothers and sisters in Christ and hold them in the highest regard.

Romans 12:10 (CEV) says, _*“Love each other as brothers and sisters and honour others more than you do yourself.”*_ Imagine that the Lord says to esteem others above yourself! Don’t judge or try to outdo others. Relate to them with the love of Christ that’s in your heart. Be gracious, loving, and kind to them always.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m gracious and kind, even as my heavenly Father is gracious and kind. I esteem my brothers and sisters in Christ highly, because the love of Christ in me compels me to do so. The kindness of the Spirit of God is seen in my communication, attitude, and character. Therefore, my life is fruitful and productive, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*
