24% Of Lagos Women Have Sex Before 18 Years - Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris
User Avatar Forum: Romance
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-27-2017, 01:11 PM - No Replies

The Lagos State Government says no fewer than 24.2 per cent of women in the state have their first sex before 18 years.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, said this on Thursday while delivering a lecture at the Inspiration FM’s (92.3) Inaugural Lecture and Award Ceremony on Victoria Island.

Idris, who spoke on ‘Reproductive Health: Beyond Cultural Limitations and Concerns,’ said the statistics were based on the report of the National Demographic and Health Survey and the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey.

“Nationally, the figures are about 51 per cent. This implies that in Lagos, one out of every four women would have been exposed to sex before 18 years, while the national average for Nigeria is one out of two women.

“With an average age of first birth at 20 years, about 22.5 per cent of pregnancies are by teenagers in Nigeria. More worrying, however, is that reports show that as of this year, about 40 per cent of women in the South-West have experienced physical violence since age 15. Sexual violence cannot be excluded from the statistics.

“In other words, in a nation where more than 60 per cent of its population are young people and significant numbers of these young people are exposed to sexual intercourse at an early age, either voluntarily or violently, a lot of problems emerge. Such problems are associated with sexually-transmitted infections, childhood pregnancy, trauma and its accompanying physical and mental health implications.

“This means that there must be access to knowledge about sexual health and systems that modify behaviour, as well as, access to services that prevent and manage them,” Idris added.

The Acting Director General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Ademola Mogbojuri, who was represented by Mrs. Bolaji Abayomi, advised mothers to practise exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months of giving birth.

Chairman on the occasion, Femi Gbadebo, said for proper reproductive health care, the issues of anti-natal, mother and child care, among others, must be addressed.

The Chairman of Amazing Inspiration Media, Mr. Erastus Akingbola, said the decision to hold the lecture was borne out of the need to contribute to the issue of healthy living among the people.

Represented by Mr. Soni Irabor at the event, Akingbola said the best approach to solving issues around reproductive health was creating a forum for people to break the silence on it for common solution.

Nigerian Man Buys South African Man A G-class To Apologise For Impregnating Wife
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-27-2017, 01:01 PM - Replies (1)

A Nigerian man based in South Africa says he does not regret buying a luxury Mercedes-Benz G-class to a South African man as a token to apologise for impregnating his wife.

“I know what I did is wrong but I feel better he has accepted my gift. He accepted that his wife, my girlfriend, is pregnant and will soon give birth to my son. He was angry at first but when I presented the car to him his anger vanished,” said the man who identified herself as John.

One source close to the family of the woman who fell pregnant says she knew about the affair but never thought it would lead to a pregnancy. She says she is disappointed the husband accepted the Mercedes-Benz from the Nigerian national.
“Nigerian men will never take our men seriously. What kind of a man accepts a gift from a man who impregnated his wife? He will impregnate her again and buy the stupid husband another car. I am so disappointed,” she said.

When approached for a comment the husband said “it is wrong to say I am stupid. The point of the matter is we cannot reverse what happened. We sat down as men and sorted the issue. The Bible says we must forgive and forget. I have always dreamed of driving a G-wagon. Christmas came early for me and my family,” said the husband who didn’t want to be named.

“The baby will be born and I’ll take care of him as my own. If the father wants to take him to Nigeria I wouldn’t mind. I will give my wife the support she needs always. That is what marriage is all about. I love my wife and will not leave her because of a mere pregnancy,” he added.

A teenage boy simply identified as Bobo John has confessed how he killed and buried one Stanley Eluwa, a motorcycle rider in Igwebuike forest in Awara community, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
The 18-year-old suspect yesterday led policemen to the forest where he and four members of the cult group he belongs to allegedly killed and buried the 24-year-old motorcyclist in a shallow grave.

John explained that the gang lured the victim, who was a commercial motorcycle rider to the forest and killed him with a rod and stole with his motorcycle.
The state’s Police Public Relation Officer, Andrew Enwerem, a Superintendent of Police said John and four others who belonged to the Iceland cult, lured the victim to the forest on October 5.
He said John was arrested on October 24 for stealing an amplifier from a church in Awara, upon interrogation, he confessed that his gang murdered and buried Eluwa in the forest.
He also said the family of Eluwa had earlier reported to Ohaji Police Division, when he did not return home.
“This is a case of robbery and murder. This man, who claims to be 18 years old and his gang members, robbed and murdered one Stanley Eluwa on October 5.
“He was arrested on October 24 for stealing an amplifier from the New Life Bible Church. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder case. Today, (Thursday) he led the police and the family members of the slain man to the forest where they killed and buried the victim in a shallow grave.
“The Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, has declared war on cultism. The CP believes that cultism is the mother of all crimes. We are getting the results and the CP is bringing new ideas to the table to make sure that cultism is thrown out of the state.
“The suspect and others on the run belong to the Iceland Confraternity, which has been wrecking havoc on the state.

“We are trailing the fleeing gang members. There is an ongoing operation in the state against cultism,” Enwerem added.

Impregnated by her stepbrother, raped multiple times by her Catholic priest

‘Impregnated by her stepbrother, raped multiple times by her Catholic priest and betrayed by her doctors’ – 19-year-old lady who recently gave birth shares story
Here’s an emotional and painful story of a woman simply identified as Grace Nkanueko, who was allegedly being used by a Catholic priest who slept with her under his roof in Lagos.
Grace just gave birth after she was allegedly raped by her step brother who impregnated her before she was brought to Lagos by the Catholic priest. The priest allegedly continued to sleep with the lady despite her condition and asked her to give out her child for a price after her delivery.
Here’s what Hammid Bakare, a broadcast journalist, who picked an interest in the callous case wrote;

Quote:Back to the case I talked about yesterday the one involving Abuse ,Rape and possibly child trafficking. I have written to the commissioner of police and I have been to the social welfare department where the illicit act is perpetrated further. Here’s the gist.
A case was brought to my attention. there is this lady (aged BTW 19 and 21) that was a patient, from stories told, her step brother impregnated her (she was raped) and she was sent out of the village. A catholic evangelist brought her to Lagos and was having his way with her while she was still pregnant under his roof. She delivered through cs on Tue last week.
The Church priest and some other people are trying to convince this young lady to give out her child for a price. She is really shattered because of all she has gone through. I believe that she should be assisted and not been deceived
to give out her child.

I am taking it upon myself to investigate this matter and help this young lady. From her story, her step mum and even the village has sent her away, which means she is basically on her own.
Please I need your assistance please hide my id I am available to answer questions.
I am currently waiting for the welfare officer now with a view to ensure the young and take her child aren’t separated. The name of the hospital is MOTHER MARY CATHOLIC HOSPITAL on KAMORU ADEYEMI and OLUDEGUN STREETS, ire-akari estate Isolo. She is in the female ward. Her name is GRACE Nkanueko. The culprits are (Mr Jekpon-oghene Dukuye evangelist the doctors are Dr Chidinma Ejiofor and Dr Jane)
I have alerted the lagos state authority on Abuse and child rape.Presently the hospital officials are trying to take the girl and her child to an unknown destination.
I will also see to it that the culprits ( Evangelist Dukuye and Dr. Chidinma Ejiofor, and Dr . Jane gets apprehended.
Meanwhile, anyone out there who can help the mother and child with toiletries and stuffs to help her nurture her child would be appreciated.
Kind Regards

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 27TH OCTOBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF WHO YOU ARE✨

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me (John 6:38).

The Lord Jesus was absolute and definite about His origin and the purpose for His coming. He said, “...I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me” (John 6:38). In John 6:35, He said, “…I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” He was conscious of His identity, origin, and mission. He knew He was sent and knew the one who sent Him, and boldly confessed accordingly.

The challenge with a number of Christians is that they don’t know who they are, and you can tell this from the way they talk. Imagine a Christian who says, “I’m hypertensive,” or “I’m diabetic,” actually claiming these things as though it’s respectable or fashionable to do so. Yet the Bible says, “No one in Zion will say, “I’m sick” (Isaiah 33:24 MSG). It’s about their mentality; such folks haven’t developed the Christ-consciousness.

When you were born again, you were born into health; the life of God supplanted your human life that was susceptible to sickness and disease. You’re not an ordinary person and must never talk like an ordinary man. Your life is from the Spirit, sustained by the Word, not by the blood that flows through your veins. You’re not “sickable.” The Christian is “uninfectable”; that’s what Jesus said. He said, “…and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them” (Mark 16:18).

But, until and unless this becomes your consciousness, you may never walk in the reality of it. Get to know, and become conscious of, who you are in Christ. God’s Word gives you the right information about who you are as a Christian. Therefore, always study and meditate on the Word; it’ll give you the right mindset: the mindset of victory.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the revelation of your Word to my spirit today. The entrance of your Word into my spirit gives me light, and I live in, and by that light! With that light, I see and apprehend my glorious life in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: Galatians 4:6-7 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.

Buhari vs corruption: Bringing a knife to a gun fight
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: skinny - 10-26-2017, 12:31 PM - No Replies

It is no longer news that corruption is fighting back. Ironically, and rather curiously, its defendants are allegedly able to employ the services of those closest to the President to thwart his efforts at taming the beast. One remembers Goodluck Jonathan’s past claims that his own cabinet had been infiltrated by Boko Haram sponsors (he never clarified his statement) which points to the fact that virtually every Nigerian administration since independence has been infiltrated by nefarious individuals who fight progress, or any developments which are not personally beneficial to them, from within.

These “cabals”allegedly take advantage of their closeness to the President and ensure a “turn-by-turn” scenario which operates behind the scenes of Nigerian politics.

Maina
Unilateral prosecution

Meaning that no matter who is in power, the political elite which is unified in its desire (and ability) to plunder the nation’s resources always places its “boys” in key positions so as to ensure that business carries on as usual and that they are undisturbed by whatever the administration of the days’ plans might be.

We, the public, rather than calling for the unilateral prosecution of whoever is suspected of corruption, endorse factionalism (and therefore continue our own enslavement) by refusing to assess any information without viewing it through an ethno-religious or partisan lens, therefore ensuring that the politicians who benefit from this always find someone to defend their misdeeds, no matter how grave. To put it simply, President Muhammadu Buhari brought a knife to a gun fight. The political elite, many of whom benefit from the system he was elected to change, aren’t in support of his plans. As for Nigerians, many are too hungry and impoverished to realise where their interest truly lies.

One could ask, what came first, corruption and greed or poverty and unemployment? The former (corruption and greed) enables the latter (poverty and unemployment), while the latter reinforces the former. So one finds that Nigerians are still too complicit and accepting of corruption, all too willing to justify it, in a society where it doesn’t pay to be honest or hard working.

The latest scandal, involving Abdulrasheed Maina, the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, who was reportedly readmitted into the civil service despite being wanted by the EFCC and INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organisation) due to his masterminding a N100 billion pension fraud scheme, is yet another example of the President apparently being betrayed if not by his inner circle, then by a system that protects its own.

How does a fugitive, a man who is wanted both in Nigeria and internationally, return to the country without some form of high level protection? How did Mr Maina sneak back into the country without alerting the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, or the Nigerian State Security Service, SSS? How could he have been so bold as to come back and not go into hiding but rather, return to the seat of power which he stands accused of defrauding, without some high level help? Who assisted him and why?

The President needs to make an example of those who covered for Mr.Maina and put an end to the impunity which has always characterised the handling of such scandals in Nigeria. Not doing so will prove Mr.Maina (and all those who are brazen enough to continuously exploit Nigeria unchallenged) right in their belief that this country belongs only to a few rather than to all. Who are these men and women who surround Buhari? Why do they systematically seem to act in ways which disparage him, destroy his reputation and why has he not got rid of them despite their insubordination and clear acts of sabotage?

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (OCTOBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*REPLETE WITH GOD .*

Thursday, October 26th .
Pastor Chris

_*For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him (John 3:34).*_

Colossians 2:9 tells us that in Jesus _*“…dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”*_ When Jesus walked the earth, He was filled with God, letting us know we too can be filled with God. He was the Word made flesh. He’s called the Son of God, because He was God in flesh. The Jews knew the meaning of “Son of God,” which was why when Jesus said, “I’m the Son of God,” they couldn’t take it.

Jesus was replete with God. That’s what it means to be full of God. Now, if this is true about Jesus (and it is true), how about us who are joint-heirs with Him? If Jesus was replete with God and anointed without measure, being sent of God, it follows that we also have been anointed without measure, because Jesus said, _*“…as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you”*_ (John 20:21).

No wonder Colossians 2:10 says, _*“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”*_ The word “complete” is fullness, to be made full! We’re replete with God, full of God, the same way Jesus was full of God. The Amplified Classic version makes it even clearer: _*“And you are in him made full and having come to fullness of life in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Spirit….”*_ That means the Godhead now dwells in us bodily as He dwelt in Jesus.

That’s the reason He said, _*“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”*_ (John 14:12). We can do greater works because we’re anointed without measure; the fullness of God dwells in us. Blessed be God!

*CONFESSION*

*The Spirit of the Lord lives in me and He’s anointed me without measure! I’m replete with God! I could never be defeated or disadvantaged. I’m anointed to walk in, and produce works of, righteousness; to proclaim liberty to the oppressed and recovery of sight to the blind; to heal the brokenhearted and liberate the down-trodden and oppressed, and turn the hearts of the wicked and disobedient to the wisdom of the just! Hallelujah!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 John 4:4* Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. *||*

*||* *John 1:16* And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. *||*

Having sex with another woman is not cheating – IK Ogbonna says, reveals he has never cheated on his wife

Nollywood actor, IK Ogbonna, has opined that cheating is not just by having sex with another woman, but by getting attached to them.
Speaking to Broadwaytv, The father of two said you only cheat when you develop feelings, plan trips, share your 100 percent time with a woman you had sex with.
He said,
“If a man finds himself in a situation, like sleeping with another woman for 30 minutes and you move on with life, nothing exist the second it ended.’’
”With that you only broke your marital vows, that is not cheating. Cheating is when you share your 100 percent with the said woman, like giving her your extra time, having chatty moments and planning trips with her.”

The father of two has however insisted that he has never cheated on his wife and doesn’t see any reason to. According to him;
“For me, I looked for a woman that had everything that I wanted. From beauty to brains, companionship and friendship. I’m more about building my family, life and builfing a future both for my internal/external family. I really don’t have the time (to cheat) as i’m always workin and whatever time left is spent with family.”

On whether he cooks for his wife, IK said
“Yes, I love cooking, The beauty of cooking is when you see somebody enjoying your food. The beauty for me is when I see the person I love enjoying my meal. She’s actually smilling because of the meal I ccoked for her. I try to do everything and anything to maake her happy and If cooking is one of them…. She cocoks for me, I cook for her. It’s just beautiful as far as I’m concerned.”

On why he thinks men cheat, IK said;
People say it is in every man’s DNA but I dont think so. It’s a mindset. If you hang around people that cheat, you would probably become a cheater, and vice versa. I don’t think every man’s cheat. It’s a spiritual thing for some. Some Men cheat because they want to cheat. Same with women, it’s a personal decision.

Crown Prince Promises To Lead His Country 'back To Moderate Islam
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-25-2017, 12:59 PM - No Replies

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious young crown prince has said he will lead his country back to “moderate Islam” as he announced plans for a vast new £380 million economic development zone.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman told investors gathered in Riyadh that his economic modernisation plans would go hand-in-hand with with political reforms to guide the conservative kingdom away from severe Wahhabi Islam.

"We are returning to what we were before - a country of moderate Islam that is open to all religions and to the world," the 32-year-old prince said.

"We will not spend the next 30 years of our lives dealing with destructive ideas. We will destroy them today," he added. "We will end extremism very soon."

The prince's pledge is a challenge to Saudi's conservative clerics and came as he announced plans for NEOM, a new economic zone that will stretch across Saudi’s borders into neighboring Egypt and Jordan.

The zone will be 26,500km square, making it bigger than Wales and significantly larger than neighbouring Middle Eastern states like Israel, Lebanon or Kuwait.

The project is the latest announcement from Prince Mohammed, who is pushing aggressively to modernise the kingdom and wean it off its dependence on oil as part of his Vision 2030 plan.

He laid out a vision of a futuristic economic zone where robots may outnumber humans, drones will carry passengers and omnipresent high-speed internet will be known as “digital air”.

Saudi has announced a string of reforms in recent months, including plans to allow women to drive, but it remains one of the world’s most socially conservative societies.

Prince Mohammed’s modernising plans have been applauded by many western leaders but some analysts are sceptical that he will be able to push through economic and political changes on the scale he is talking about.

Earlier this year, the royal family backed away from plans to cut benefits for state employees in the face of public anger - a sign of how difficult it may be to reform Saudi Arabia’s oil-based economy.

Last week, Saudi authorities said they were forming a council of Islamic scholars who would counter violent interpretations of the Koran and the hadith - a set of lessons learned from the life of the prophet Mohammed.

The government has also eased restrictions on the use of video messaging applications like Skype and Whatsapp.

The investment conference itself was intended as a symbol of modernity and dubbed by some observers as “Davos in the Desert”.

Men and women sat together at the event and it was attended high-profile figures like Tony Blair and Christine Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund.

“This initiative is something you couldn’t have imagined happening in Saudi Arabia even a few years back,” said Mr Blair, who praised the direction of Prince Mohammed’s reforms.

His comments were criticised by Reprieve, a British human rights group, which called Mr Blair’s praise “spectacularly tone deaf” in light of Saudi Arabia’s poor human rights record.
“The Saudi government has executed hundreds of people in the past few years – including protesters and children,” said Maya Foa, Reprieve’s director.

Prince Mohammed became heir to the throne in June at the expense of his older cousin, the powerful interior minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayaf, who was stripped of his title as crown prince.

His father, King Salman, is 81 and in poor health and Prince Mohammed is widely seen as the effective ruler of Saudi Arabia. He serves as the country’s defence minister and has wide powers to manage its economy.

The prince has led the country’s war in neighboring Yemen, which has seen more than 10,000 people killed. The UN recently blacklisted the Saudi-led military coalition for killing and injuring hundreds of children in the conflict.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (OCTOBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*PRAYING FOR OTHERS .*

Wednesday, October 25th .
Pastor Chris

_*But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).*_

An aspect of our priestly ministry as Christians is praying for others: interceding on their behalf against the forces of darkness. This is so important for us to do, especially for those amongst us who may still be weak, ignorant, and unable to stand for themselves.

It’s important to bear in mind, however, that when we intercede, God isn’t the one holding back from us. He’s not the one causing the problem; therefore, we shouldn’t pray as though He’s the one we’re trying to persuade.

For example, if you’re interceding for someone who’s sick, it’s not God that made him sick. So, it would be wrong to be pleading and begging God to heal him. Instead, you’re to stand in the authority of Jesus Christ against the sickness. You’re to remain persistent in prayer, mounting pressure on the adversary on behalf of that one who’s sick, to help him obtain his healing.

You may have been interceding for a while for someone to receive salvation, and it may seem there’s no positive outcome. The reason might be that you were praying as though God is the one holding the person back from receiving salvation; you’ve been prevailing on God to “save” him. No! The grace of God that brings salvation has been made available to all men (Titus 2:11). In Christ, salvation has already been wrought for every man; it’s part of what Jesus came to accomplish.

Therefore, in interceding for the lost, you address the culprit: Satan! He’s the god of this world; the one who has blinded the minds of men so they wouldn’t believe the Gospel. He’s the reason some people will do just anything to resist the message of the Gospel. But blessed be God! As Christians, we have the authority to break Satan’s hold off people’s minds, so the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ would shine unto them for salvation.

If there’s someone you’ve been praying for to receive salvation, that’s what you need to do! Write down that person’s name, and declare, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus, I break the power of the devil off Mr John, and I claim his deliverance and salvation.” You’ll be amazed that as simple as that prayer is, you’ll get the desired result.

*PRAYER*

*I thank you Father for giving me authority to break Satan’s hold and influence over men’s lives that they may receive salvation. I declare that the Gospel message is growing and prevailing around the world, bringing about a mighty harvest of souls into the Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 Timothy 2:1-4* I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. *||*

*||* *Luke 22:31-32* And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. *||*

I affirm that God is at work in me, both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Daily, as I meditate and affirm the Word, His power in me is activated to bring forth blessings and miracles. I am blessed on every side; my life is like a well-watered garden, and I bring forth fruits, in and out of season. I am super-favored, I live in superabundance because I am connected to God's unending supply system. Hallelujah. I am mightily blessed of the Lord and that blessing has brought beauty, honor, acceptability, elegance, loveliness, goodwill, benefits, promotion, glory, and favour into my life. Today and always, I increase in divine favor, I increase in speed and accuracy. No weapon formed against me shall ever prosper; for Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 24TH OCTOBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ The Self-sufficient You✨

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:10-11)."

The Lord Jesus, while explaining the parable of the sower to His disciples, compared the ground in which the seeds were sown to the heart of man: “The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts” (Mark 4:14-15). So, the heart or spirit of man is synonymous with “earth” in our opening scripture.

This means it’s the human spirit that brings forth and buds when it makes contact with the Word. Being born again, you must cultivate your heart to be a fertile ground for the Word, so it can “bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.” Don’t expect seed and bread to come from somewhere else. They’ll come from inside you. Inside you is the capacity to bring forth seed for sowing, and bread for food.

Therefore, the victory for the challenge, the solution to the problem, the health for the sickness—everything—is inside you! God didn’t make the new creation to be dependent on anything or anyone, not even on Him. This, however, doesn’t mean that you don’t “need” God. Rather, it underscores the truth that He made you to be self-sufficient, requiring no external aid or support to live successfully in the earth.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMPC) tells us something striking about this: “And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].”

All that you need for a self-sufficient life of success in this world is the Word of God. The Word of God is what saturates and empowers the “earth” (your heart) to produce seed for sowing and bread for food. Whenever you receive the Word into your heart, meditate and act on it, and it’ll produce results in your life.

CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you for the entrance of your Word has given me light and understanding. I’m fully equipped for a life of unending success through the power of the Holy Spirit that’s at work in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Kaduna Refinery Dormant, Port Harcourt, Warri Producing Below 30%
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-23-2017, 04:06 PM - No Replies

Quote:There seems to be no end in sight to the downward operational performance of Nigeria ’s refineries since the beginning of 2017 despite several interventions made to reinvigorate the facilities by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation .

The latest monthly oil and gas report released by the national oil firm showed that the cumulative capacity utilisation of the nation ’s three refineries dropped further from 12. 73 per cent in June to 11 .94 per cent in July 2017 .
On individual performance , the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company remained dormant for the two consecutive months as it processed no crude oil in the period under review .

Other refineries, Port Harcourt Refining Company and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company , also performed far below expectation.
While the WRPC moved up marginally in its performance, processing 1. 87 per cent of crude oil in July , as against the zero output it recorded in June, the PHRC’ s capacity utilisation dropped from 26. 98 per cent in June to 24 .18 per cent in July .

Going by the data provided by the NNPC , no refinery was able to perform up to 30 per cent , as none of them could utilise up to half of the crude oil allocated to them in July this year, as had been the case in many other preceding months .

SUNDAY PUNCH had exclusively reported in September that the performance of the facilities with respect to the capacity utilisation dropped by 44. 87 per cent , after an analysis of their activities showed a decline in output from 20 .09 per cent in May to 12. 73 per cent in June .
Further findings by our correspondent also showed that the facilities had been recording consecutive monthly decline with respect to their cumulative capacity utilisation since January this year.

After recording a consolidated capacity utilisation of 36. 73 per cent in January, the performance of the facilities maintained decline to 13 .46 per cent in March .

The performance moved up to 24. 59 per cent in April 2017 , but this was not sustained as it crashed on a monthly basis till it dropped to 11. 94 per cent in July , which was their latest operational performance as released by the NNPC.
An analysis of the corporation’ s latest data showed that the total crude processed by the three refineries dropped from 231 ,836 metric tonnes in June to 224, 584 MT in July . .

Their losses increased from 2.44 per cent in June to close at 2. 59 per cent in July , while their cumulative plant consumption dropped to 8. 30 per cent in the month under review , as against the 10 .92 per cent that was recorded in the preceding month.
As part of plans to revamp the refineries, the NNPC on several occasions had stated that its 12 Business Focus Areas would help address the shortcomings at the facilities .

It had repeatedly stated that BUFA would see to the upgrading of existing refineries and creating the opportunity for refining expansion; focusing on renewable energy and frontier exploration ; revamping the oil and gas infrastructure; pursuing profitable ventures and common services, among others.
In September, the NNPC disclosed that it would shortly close down three of its refineries for a comprehensive rehabilitation aimed at bringing them back to their nameplate production capacities .

The NNPC ’ s Group Managing Director , Maikanti Baru, told reporters in Abuja that the shutdown of the refineries would allow the corporation to undertake their rehabilitation in ways that were different from what had been done in the past.
According to Baru , the refineries will come back on stream as new facilities when the corporation concludes the rehabilitation project ahead of the country ’s plan to exit petroleum products importation in 2019 .

“As you know, it has been the perception of the public that the repairs of the refineries are never done thoroughly . So this time, our intention is to shutdown the refineries when we are ready , and then fully bring them back to what they should be as new refineries, ” the GMD had said .

US READY TO PUT 'NUCLEAR BOMBERS ON 24-HOUR ALERT' FOR FIRST TIME SINCE THE END OF...

US ready to put 'nuclear bombers on 24-hour alert' for first time since the end of the Cold War amid growing tensions with Russia and North Korea

  • US Air Force is prepping nuclear-armed bombers to be on 24-hour alert

  • Armed B-52s will be parked at Barksdale Air Force for the first time since 1991

  • Weapons will be ready to take off at a moment's notice if they get the command
The United States Air Force will put its ageing fleet of nuclear-capable B-52 bombers on 24-hour alert for the first time since the end of the Cold War, according to its chief of staff.
Amid rising tensions with North Korea and a resurgent Putin-led Russia, General David Goldfein told Defense One that the strategic bomber force will be ready at a day's notice for the first time in 26 years.
Adapting to the 'reality of the global situation', Goldfein's order would see B-52s readied at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and armed with nuclear weapons - something not seen since 1991.
Indeed, Barksdale - the home of the 2D Bomb Wing and Air Force Global Strike Command - is currently being refurbished in anticipation of the change in defense posture to allow the bombers to 'take off at a moment's notice'.
This is the latest defensive move from the US military, matching the bellicose threats that President Trump has posted on Twitter, putting North Korea, Iran and other American enemies on notice he will use the might of the armed forces.

[Image: 4597357D00000578-5007099-image-m-25_1508734367012.jpg]
The move would see nuclear-armed B-52s (pictured) parked on concrete pads the end of an 11,000-foot runway at Barksdale Air Force in Louisiana, where pads have been dormant since 1991
[Image: 4596C62700000578-5007099-image-a-6_1508726732793.jpg]
In a few months the pads at Barksdale Air Force (pictured), which are dubbed the 'Christmas Tree' because of their angular markings,' will be piled high with weapons
This comes after Donald Trump met with top military chiefs on October 6, and made a comment about 'calm before the storm.'
Speaking to Defense One, General Goldfein emphasized that orders haven't been given yet, but that they are preparing the bases in the event that it should happen.
'This is yet one more step in ensuring that we're prepared,' General Goldfein explained.
'I look at it more as not planning for any specific event, but more for the reality of the global situation we find ourselves in and how we ensure we're prepared going forward.'
Were things to escalate, the decision to fire would be made by General John Hyten, commander of Strategic Command, or General Lori Robinson, head of Northern Command.
Readying the B-52s is just one of many decisions facing the Air Force as North Korea continues to advance its nuclear arsenal.
Kim Jong-Un's rhetoric has grown more confrontational by the day - following his first threat to wipe the United States off the earth in early April.
So in addition to President Trump's confrontational rebuttals and Russia's increasingly confident armed forces, General Goldfein said it's best to be prepared.

Lost note: Scientist Albert Einstein
A note Albert Einstein gave to a courier in Tokyo 95 years ago, briefly describing his theory on happy living, will go on sale this week.
The physicist gave the messages to a courier in lieu of a tip while on a lecture tour of Japan in 1922.
At the time Einstein had recently been informed that he was to receive the Nobel Prize for physics, and his fame outside of scientific circles was growing.
A Japanese courier arrived at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo to deliver Einstein a message. The courier either refused to accept a tip, in line with local practice, or Einstein had no small change available.
Either way, Einstein didn't want the messenger to leave empty-handed, so he wrote him two notes by hand in German, according to the seller, a relative of the messenger.
'Maybe if you're lucky those notes will become much more valuable than just a regular tip,' Einstein told the messenger, according to the seller, a resident of the German city of Hamburg who wished to remain anonymous.

One note, on the stationary of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, says that 'a quiet and modest life brings more joy than a pursuit of success bound with constant unrest.'
The other, on a blank piece of paper, simply reads: 'where there's a will, there's a way.'
It is impossible to determine if the notes were a reflection of Einstein's own musings on his growing fame, said Roni Grosz, the archivist in charge of the world's largest Einstein collection, at Jerusalem's Hebrew University.

[Image: 45925D9F00000578-5006473-The_note_has_su...112988.jpg]
The note has surfaced 95 years later and is now up for auction
While the notes, previously unknown to researchers, hold no scientific value, they may shed light on the private thoughts of the great physicist whose name has become synonymous with genius, according to Grosz.
'What we're doing here is painting the portrait of Einstein - the man, the scientist, his effect on the world - through his writings,' said Grosz.
'This is a stone in the mosaic.'
The two notes will go on sale on Tuesday at the Winner's auction house in Jerusalem, alongside other items including two letters Einstein wrote in later years.

Bisola opens up on her Life, career and Relationship
[Image: bisola%2Baiyeola.jpg]
Big Brother Naija 2017 runner up, Bisola Aiyeola, opened up on her life, career and relationship, in an interview with Sunday Punch.
Background

I grew up in many places because we moved around a lot. As a child, I lived in
Papa Ajao, Festac and Surulere, all in Lagos. I have many memories from my childhood. These include spending lots of time with my cousins and aunties, singing with them, and enjoying holidays with them.

Education

For my elementary education, I attended Stepping Stones Nursery and Primary School, and Nazareth Nursery and Primary School. I proceeded to Federal Government Girls College, Ipetumodu, Osun State, and Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos. Getting into higher institution was quite difficult for me but I was eventually admitted into the National Open University to study Entrepreneurial and Business Management. But I had to discontinue the course because I didn’t have the funds to complete it. However, I still have plans to further my education.

Ambition

I remember clearly that when I was 13, I was moving to another school and during an interview, I was asked what I wanted to become in future. I answered that I wanted to become an entertainer and my mother gave me a knock on the head, saying that I wasn’t serious and that I’d probably become a lawyer. But deep inside me, I have always wanted to be an entertainer. I cannot really say what stirred my interest in entertainment but my family is a very interesting one and we all love music, movies, etc.

Music

My first love is music, even though I feel comfortable with every other form of entertainment that I do. Music was what pushed me into entertainment. Right now, I’m exploring my music side and I would be releasing my EP soon.

Project Fame Academy

I did back-up vocals for some artistes before I contested in Project Fame. Though before Project Fame, I had attended some singing competitions, but they weren’t well publicised. Every moment I spent in the academy was memorable. Being mentored by Joke Silva, Ben Ogbeiwi, Gogo Majin, among others, was very motivating. They tutored us on how to be better singers and performers. I was a bit disappointed when I didn’t emerge the winner, but I met a lot of people and made friends.

Radio

Being a broadcaster with women’s radio, WFM, was quite an enlightening experience for me. It was my first time being on radio, though I had presented some programmes on TV before that. I eventually became the Head of Programmes so there were a lot of responsibilities on me. I learnt a lot of things from that experience such as being articulate, how to manage other people, among other things. I keep applying the things I learnt there to my everyday life. I left that job because I couldn’t juggle my acting career with working on radio. The timing wasn’t working for me anymore, so I decided to concentrate on my acting career. In future, I could still return to radio to present my own programmes.

Comedy

I try to make jokes about things that happen every day that people can relate with. Uploading those comedy skits online gave me some exposure. Some of the acting gigs that I got were on the strength of those skits because the directors had seen me in them and they had ideas of certain roles they felt I could play in their productions. I see it as my personal public relations company, advertising my work and my abilities.

Big Brother

I wanted a bigger platform to showcase myself and have a wider reach. I wanted to put myself out there more. I had actually been auditioning for the show for a while. It’s not like I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am, but Big Brother fastened the process. In the house, I learnt not to be afraid and not to limit myself. I also learnt to be more tolerant. I don’t want to talk about my relationship with Thin Tall Tony in the house because I have said enough about it already. I am still on good talking terms with all the housemates. However, some of my favourite contestants were Marvis and Thin Tall Tony. I have no regrets about my time in BBN.

Lessons

I have learnt not to relax just because you think you are talented. People wouldn’t automatically respect you for your talent; rather, you have to put in a lot of work to be relevant. You have to constantly work on yourself. I have also learnt not to ever give up.

Role models

My mother is my biggest role model. She inspires and constantly motivates me. We have our ups and downs but we do have a good relationship. Being with my family encourages me because they always push you to be better. They have always supported my entertainment career, and even my stint with Big Brother.

Daughter

I have an amazing relationship with my daughter. In fact, she’s my friend because we talk a lot. I think she is one of the best children in the world. I and her father are co-parenting and we still have a friendly relationship. I cannot say if there is any chance that we could get married in the future, because life is unpredictable and one can never say.

Ideal man

That would be someone who loves me, encourages me and motivates me. It has to be someone who would never judge me, and is a friend to me.

Fashion

I’m a jeans and sneakers kind of person. I realised that I cannot wear that everywhere and all the time but I love being comfortable. I love big earrings and I would say that’s my favourite fashion accessory.
Relaxation
I enjoy watching movies, and I also sitting down with friends to talk.

How Ewedu soup wiped out entire family including dogs and pregnant woman in Kaduna

The people of Dushai village along the Kagoro-Manchok road, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State are grieving and wondering how a local staple vegetable, jute, (known among the Yorubas of Southwest Nigeria as ewedu and called rama in Southern Kaduna), which has been used in making soup for centuries could have caused the death of a whole family in their community.
The family of five, including an unborn baby, as well as two domestic dogs, perished the
next day after consuming a meal made with this vegetable. The dead were identified as ex-police inspector, Peter Dauda, 43, his expectant 35-year-old wife, Dorothy, nine-year-old son, Godwin and six-year-old daughter, Patience.
Sunday Sun learnt from a member of the community that the family had enjoyed their meal prepared with jute one night and went to bed. They woke up hale and hearty the next day. Meanwhile before turning in that night, the used portion of the jute was spread on a container overnight to dry a bit. In the evening of that day, it was used to make another fresh pot of soup.
With no premonition, the family ate the soup went to bed, but never woke up again. The sumptuous vegetable soup allegedly killed all of them.
Narrating the sad incident, The President of Dushai Community Development Association, Mr. Daniel Duniya Bosan said,

“The family had prepared and eaten the jute leaves in the evening of Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and went to bed without a problem. The remaining leaves were spread on a container and preserved for consumption the following day.
“Trouble started on Thursday, September 7, shortly after they had eaten the vegetable soup. All the family members started complaining of stomach aches the following day, which was Friday, and neighbours rushed them to a nearby hospital.
“The jute leaves were suspected to have been laced with a poisonous substance by unknown persons. The first family member who died was their six-year-old daughter, Patience, she gave up the same Friday, while Dorothy, Godwin and their father, Inspector Dauda, died on Saturday, September 9.”

The community leader said the whole village was thrown into mourning when news of the death of the family in suspicious circumstances was broken to them.
He described late Inspector Dauda as a hardworking and peace loving man who contributed in no small way to the development of Dushai community by preaching unity and love among the people.
Saddened by the news of the family’s death, Kaduna State Deputy Governor Barnabas Bantex paid a condolence visit to the community.
While in the community, Bantex appealed for calm, particularly from the youths and urged them shun any rumour relating to the death of members of the family.

“I am appealing to you to shun any rumour relating to the death of this family members because such rumour is capable of escalating the already charged atmosphere in your community,” Bantex said.  Bantex who hails from Kaura Council Area was accompanied on the condolence visit by top government functionaries as well as the sole administrators of Zango and Kaura councils.

The Deputy Governor used the opportunity to call on all communities in Southern Kaduna to assist government in sustaining the relative peace being enjoyed in the area.
In his reaction to the death of the family of five, Anglican Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Reverend Markus Dogo condoled the community and appealed to the people, “to commit everything to God and continue in fervent prayers for God to avert such incidents in future.”
Ewedu, also known as Jute leaf, is one of the most popular vegetables among the Yoruba people of the Southwestern part of Nigeria. However, it is also eaten among other tribes of the country. It is usually eaten with starchy foods like amala, eba, pounded yam and semovita.
Ewedu is a very good source of fibre, vitamins and minerals. It is low in calories and this makes it an excellent option for people that are trying to lose weight. Also, it serves as a source of lignin, an important raw material used in the textile industries.
One interesting thing about this vegetable is that it grows virtually everywhere however, when it is grown properly on well-watered land, it tends to grow fast and produce optimal yield.

Kidnapped priest shot and killed after church refused to pay N100m ransom and instead involved police

[Image: screenshot-www.fotor_.com-2017-10-22-12-...00x240.png]
The chaplain to the Bishop of the African Church, Ondo Central Diocese, Revd. David Ayeola, who was kidnapped days ago, has been killed.
Punch gathered that Ayeola, the bishop, Samuel Ojo; and the bishop’s wife were travelling to Abeokuta, Ogun State, from Imojo Ekiti, Ekiti State, when they were waylaid by the gunmen on the road.
The bishop, his wife, Ayeola, and the driver of the car were said to have
fled into the bush.
A source said, “While others escaped, the chaplain was caught and abducted by the gunmen.
The gunmen shot Ayeola dead in a botched rescue operation after the church declined to pay the N100m ransom the kidnappers demanded.
The African Church had offered N500,000 instead.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the remains of the victim had been deposited in a morgue.

“They later contacted the headquarters of the church at Akure and demanded N100m. The church, however,  offered them N500,000, which they turned down.”

Another top leader of the African Church said the church’s leadership involved the Ekiti State Police Command in the rescue of the priest.
He explained that while trying to buy time with negotiation, the police also closed in on the hideout of the abductors.

“On Saturday, the police swooped on the hideout of the kidnappers and there was an exchange of gunfire between them.
“The police team was overpowered and the kidnappers decided to shoot the priest. He was shot in the side; they (kidnappers) left his corpse behind. The family has taken the body to the morgue,” he added.

When contacted, the Diocesan Public Relations Officer, Alex Akande, said he could not talk about the incident, adding that the church’s leadership would meet on Monday (today).

He said, “The case is with the police. I don’t want to divulge too much information because I need to get clearance from the church’s headquarters. We will be having a meeting tomorrow (Monday); maybe I can talk after that.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that Ayeola was not married and he had only recently finished from the seminary.
A check on his Facebook page showed that although he rarely used social media, he sometimes waxed philosophical.

“People may say many things about you, but what you say about yourself matters most. I know I shall accomplish the purpose of God for my life in the land of the living in Jesus Name. Do have a happy night rest friends,” his last post read.

The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Ademola, confirmed the death.

He said, “Yesterday evening (Saturday), we received intelligence about where the reverend was being kept by the kidnappers. The police and some hunters went to rescue him. We discovered that the place was a very thick forest.
“When the kidnappers noticed that the police and the hunters were coming, they shot the reverend and escaped.
“We went after them for a while, but the team had to turn back when it was getting dark. This was to avoid endangering the lives of members of the team in a terrain that the kidnappers may be more familiar with. We took the reverend to a general hospital, but sadly, we lost him.”

Angry housewife arrested for pushing sister-in-law into pot of boiling water

A 24-year-old housewife, Basira Sagiru, has been arrested by operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for pushing her sister-in-law into a pot of boiling water. This was confirmed to newsmen in Abuja, on Saturday, by the Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the agency, Josiah Emerole. According to him, “Sagiru pushed her sister-in-law, who is living with her, into a pot of boiling water over a minor disagreement in the house. “The victim, who is identified as Hasiya Ibrahim, suffered high degree burns before some good Samaritans rescued and brought her to our headquarters in Abuja.” Emerole said that the victim was under the custody of NAPTIP for medical attention. He said that after the suspect was picked up, the agency launched further investigation; adding that the agency would decide the next line of action when investigations were concluded. Part of NAPTIP’s mission is to prevent all forms of human degradation and exploitation through law enforcement agents thereby uplifting the vulnerable, especially women and children.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (OCTOBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*FAITH LEAPS ON THE WORD .*

Monday, October 23rd .
Pastor Chris

_*Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).*_

Abraham was seventy-five years old when God said to him, _*“Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee”*_ (Genesis 12:1). In obedience to God, he embarked on a journey, which at the time seemed to be to nowhere, exemplifying for us what the life of faith is. Hebrews 11:8 tells us, _*“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”*_

Faith requires that you proceed solely on the basis of God’s Word. When He tells you to do something, you go ahead and do it without asking Him how. This was how Abraham qualified to become the heir of the world and merited the title: “the father of faith.” God willed the whole world to him, because he had the right faith-mentality. He must have considered that the whole world belonged to God anyways so, it didn’t matter where God said to go; He (God) would be there to bless him.

Faith leaps on the Word. The story of the crippled man at Lystra, recorded in Acts 14:8-10, is another vivid example: _*“And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked. The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.”*_

Just imagine this man’s faith-response; though crippled from birth, he jumped and walked the moment Paul said, “Stand upright on thy feet!” He didn’t ask, “How do you expect me to do that with my crippled limbs?” No! He simply, and promptly acted on the Word.

You should respond the same way always whenever you receive God’s Word. As a seed of Abraham, faith is your lifestyle. Consciously and consistently do what the Word says, irrespective of contrary circumstances, and you’ll forever be victorious.

*PRAYER*

*Thank you, Father, for your Word and its ability to do what it talks about in my life! My faith is increased and strengthened as I meditate on your Word. Your wisdom is stirred in me to act on your Word and experience ever-increasing grace, from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Hebrews 11:6* But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. *||*

*||* *James 2:17-18* Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. *||*

*||* *Romans 4:19-22* And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. *||*

How 7 States Blew Billions On White Elephant Projects
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion

Posted By: Sam Egburonu,
Some mega projects worth billions of naira, which were initiated by previous governments in seven states, have been abandoned by the current state governments.
The Nation investigation in Abia, Rivers, Niger, Ogun, Plateau, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states revealed that the projects, abandoned at different levels of execution, are left to rot away, even as some of them now harbour criminals, reptiles and other dangerous animals. Most of the projects, we learnt, were initially financed through loans, some of which are still being paid or serviced by the affected states.
For example, the Monorail Project in Rivers State, which was conceived and began by the former governor of the state, now Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, in his first tenure as governor in 2008, was designed to cover 12 kilometres at the cost of N50 billion.
It was however abandoned at the point of 2.6 kilometres when the former governor completed his second tenure in office. Sources said the work already done as at then, which was described as Phase 1A, gulped N33.9billion.
Since Amaechi left office, the project has been abandoned as the current government, led by Governor Nyesom Wike, has continuously exchanged hot words with the former governor over the project. The current government has, for example, alleged that the cost of the project, compared with similar projects in other states, was outrageous.
In Niger State, we learnt that at inception, the Minna Airport City Project was estimated to cost a whopping $600 million but when The Nation correspondent visited the state Ministry of Works, Lands and Housing and the agency handling the project to uncover how much has been expended on the project, no one was ready to give out information about it.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has however said pointedly that there were no resources in the state now to complete such a project, insisting that the available resources in the state will instead be channelled to other viable areas.
Another mega project abandoned in the state is the Minna Hotel. The cost of the construction of the five-star hotel was put at N19.6 billion. Although the government had issued a bank guarantee of N1.4 billion and a land worth N400 million, The Nation observed that the hotel remains as it is since former Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu left office.
Bayelsa International Hotel in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State and Enyimba International Hotel in Aba, Abia State, have suffered similar fate. Our investigation confirmed that although Bayelsa Hotel was one of the projects used by former governor Timipre Sylva to secure a N50 billion loan from the capital market in December 2009, it is still an abandoned project.
A report by the Financial Management Review Committee, chaired by the former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, shows that the cost of the project was N13.9 billion. The report also showed that the project was rated 26 percent completion when the bond was obtained. ”
For Abia International Hotels, which was initiated by former governor Sam Mbakwe government, over 38 years ago, we learnt that another $25 million would be needed to expand and complete it.
Jos Main Market, another abandoned project, according to our sources, would need N5billion to rebuild. But the state government said it does not have such money and so has opted to engage investors under Private Public Partnership (PPP).
Some of the state governments, who vowed not to touch the abandoned projects, said they were mere elephant projects initiated by former government who may have used them to siphon resources.
Original estimated costs of the abandoned projects
*Rivers Monorail–N50b
*Minna Airport City-$600m
*Minna five-star Hotel –
N19.6b
*Abia Int’l Hotel –N6b to complete * would need about $25m to expand
*Jos Main Market — N5b to rebuild
* Bayelsa Hotel —N13.9b
* Ibom Tropicana —N33b
* Ibom Specialist Hospital (completed but shut down)—- N41b

Nigerians React to Maina’s Reinstatement, Lauds PMB On Anti Corruption war

October 22, 2017

 By JULIANA AGBO, Abuja

Some Nigerians have reacted to the recent reinstatement of the former Chairman of Presidential Committee on Pension Reform Task force Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, into the federal civil service, saying the development is victory over corruption and age-long pervasion of the civil service rules and labour laws.

The Coordinator of  the North Central Youth Leaders’ Forum, Hon Alfa Nma in his reaction to Maina’s reinstatement stated that some corrupt pension looters ganged up against Maina and he was framed to be corrupt. “Maina’s car was shot on his way from the Presidential Villa since then, Maina went into hiding. “So, who will not run away when it has become obvious that people are after your life,” he said.

He recalled that Senator Kabir Gaya who earlier accused Maina of stealing 195 billion Naira soon renounced his accusation when he declared that the said money was found to be lodged in the federal government’s account, which is part of the TSA of the Buhari’s administration.

The group, North Central Youth Leaders’ Forum, had earlier called on President Buhari to sustain the anti corruption war, urging him that while fighting corruption, he should look into the files of those fighting corruption in the previous administration and were framed up. According to the group, the advice was with a view to determining the merit or otherwise of some cases to not only clear them but also to make them part of the anti corruption war as in the case of Maina.

Similarly, Mr. Ibrahim Kuru who spoke from Kaduna noted that the reinstatement of Maina is a victory over corruption, saying, “it would be a victory for the corrupt people in the system if obvious cases of people who were framed up for doing the right thing were not looked into.

On his part, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi who spoke from Abuja hailed President Mohammadu Buhari over Maina’s reinstatement, saying it is a plus for the anti corruption war of the present administration.

According to Dr. Mohammed Ardo, a retired civil servant , “any reasonable person would commend President Buhari for righting the wrongs of the past by reiterating Maina”.

Also, in his reaction, the Chairman Federal Concerned Pensioners, Mr David Audu  who spoke from Lagos added that President Buhari has rekindled the hope of Nigerians who suffered injustice, noting that unjust acts  of the past administration can be corrected by Maina’s reinstatement.

He said, ” a bunch of clueless people will sit at your homes and operate on hearsay, even when they do not have a copy of the civil service rules.”

“You don’t jump into conclusions and engage in a smear campaign on a man who has done nothing to offend you. People are not just sacked or dismissed if they are not political appointees.”

“If you are a career civil servant, there are rules and processes to follow and it was obvious that the process that led to the sack of Maina was flawed and the President should be commended”, Mr Audu  said.

It could be recalled  that Maina while fighting corruption in the pension sector through the PRTT in 2010 recovered over 200 billion Naira in cash but, as some Nigerians put it, “in the process, the hunter became the hunted as corruption forth back and was sacked illegally.”

It could also be recalled  that Maina led PRTT recovered 1.6 trillion Naira both in cash and assets within a period of one year.

Why is Everyone Afraid of President Buhari?' – Dele Momodu writes

Read his article below...
Fellow Nigerians, I often wonder why an average Nigerian politician is so squeamish. They love and crave power but eventually prove too timid to do the needful. The comfort power provides seems to be what matters most to them, but, certainly not the pain it may attract. God bless all those who fought for the democracy we seem to be bastardising today. It is difficult to pick out the Obafemi Awolowos, the Sir Adesoji Aderemis, the Nnamdi Azikiwes, the Anthony Enahoros, the Funmilayo Ransome-Kutis, the Wole Soyinkas, the Aminu Kanos, Abubakar Rimis, the Alfred Rewanes, the Waziri Ibrahims, the Fela Anikulapo-Kutis, Gani Fawehinmis, the Moshood Abiolas, the Kudirat Abiolas, the Abraham Adesanyas, the Alani Akinrinades, the Bola Tinubus, the Bolaji Akinyemis, and such others in the crowd today. These were men and women who were not afraid of tyrants and tyranny.
The reason for the poser on this page this week is simple and straight-forward. I never imagined that a day would come, at this time and age, when supposed democrats would voluntarily throw away their freedom, like many of our leaders seem to be doing at the moment. Less than two years to the next Presidential elections, only three aspirants have demonstrated the guts to come out in the open to express their ambition publicly, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido. The fourth person who has expressed his intention privately to me is my friend and brother, Mr Alistair Soyode, the Chairman of BEN Television, United Kingdom.
I really don’t care if they win or not but I salute their audacity to challenge the status quo. You can never, and will never, win if you don’t try first. There would have been no President Barack Obama or President Donald Trump if they failed to throw their hats in the ring. I know so many over-qualified Nigerians who want to contest but are being bogged down by trepidation or abject fear. They only express their dreams in hushed tones. I call them jelly, lily-livered beings. I feel sad anytime I read in the newspapers about full-grown men abdicating their God-given inalienable power to demi-gods with feet of clay.
Let me say categorically that Nigeria will never change unless we change our style of doing things. How can we do the same things repeatedly and expect the same failures to evaporate and vamoose? I’m now convinced that we need our whizz-kids to step out and leap forward to grab power as soon as possible. No one would say we have not been patient enough. Our serial experiments have not yielded the desired results. We had our fair share of coups. We fought a most atrocious civil war.
However, despite all this and when given the opportunity, we choose to largely vote for the dregs of society above visibly talented candidates. We have recycled leaders. Former Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo departed in 1979 but resurrected in 1999. Now Major General Muhammadu Buhari who was sacked in 1985 catapulted himself back to power in 2015. Even President Ibrahim Babangida who stepped aside in 1993 attempted to sneak back in 2003 but President Obasanjo bullied him into submission and he perished the thought without as much as a whimper.
Recall, that the man who took over from President Obasanjo in 2007, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who was already the Governor of Katsina State, was the brother of Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and his emergence was to ostensibly compensate their family for the death of Shehu in prison, under the Abacha regime. In short, it has been a relay race by military Generals and their acolytes and cronies.
I’m happy that Buhari has fulfilled his own dream. I voluntarily supported him and owe him my love and prayers till 2019 when that contract would expire. I pray that God will grant him the wisdom to understand and appreciate the treacherous nature of politics and politicians. I see how Governors are falling over themselves to visit him and pay homage to HE who must be obeyed and worshipped. I wish to admonish Baba not to believe this monumental scam of the highest order.
If and when tomorrow comes, Baba will be stunned at how these same latter day disciples will turn against him 360 degrees. I can place a bet on that. Everyone is afraid today because of the palpable fear of EFCC. No more. No politician wants to be roughened up for any reason. Their strategy is to pretend like rattlesnakes and pounce on the prey without warning. I foresee Buhari as one such quintessential prey. These guys are not going to extend this regime of fear by another four years. Buhari would have to go on a blistering offensive to come back to power in 2019. I’m sure, he’s going to be cajoled into believing that he’s the Messiah Nigerians have waited for all this while, until they pull the rug from under his feet.
I remember one of Chief Moshood Abiola’s favourite wisecracks “aponle ni ‘foreman’, enikan o le se ise eeyan merin” (the appellation of Foreman is a mere exaggeration, no man can do the job of four men). There is a limit to what Buhari can achieve in less than two years to come because time flies at supersonic speed. By this time next year, he must be on the campaign trail if indeed he wants to return to power in 2019 and his Party has nominated him as candidate.
Since politics is a game of numbers, he would have to travel round Nigeria and plead for votes. You can force people to support your tenure in power but you can’t intimidate people to vote for you because you will never see the minds of voters. According to a popular political song in the First Republic, “boo roju mi, o rinu mi, demo ni mo wa…” (You may be able to see my face but you can’t read my mind, I’m a member of Demo (National Democratic Party) …]. Such is life.
The truth I want to tell today, as a major supporter of Buhari in 2015, is that his goodwill has weakened and waned drastically and dramatically. Minus the favoured members of the inner caucus of this government, things are no longer at ease within the ruling party. Is there anything Baba can do to redeem himself, his party and floundering government? Of course yes, I believe in miracles.
He must listen to the cries of the people. He should concentrate on building institutions instead of pursuing handpicked individuals. He should unleash the talents that abound in every part of Nigeria instead of seeking to please any section. It is always better to be a national hero than a local champion. Nigeria is too divided at the moment and this is not good for national development. I still have faith in Baba’s ability to do the best for this country. It is clear to me that this is the legacy that he wants to leave behind albeit that this has not yet been achieved.
The government must be restructured before Nigeria itself can be restructured. The recent mess in NNPC was as a result of excessive and unnecessary officialdom and bureaucracy. The President need not be the Minister of Petroleum. The functions of the Minister of State in relation to the Board of NNPC should be clearly delineated if at all there is any role for him. Such ridiculous overlaps we recently saw should never have happened. We should stop over-concentrating power in one man. It has been said that “absolute power corrupts absolutely…”
Ministers must be allowed to do their constitutional duty, in accordance with the provisions of section 148 of the 1999 Constitution, of meeting regularly with the President and the Vice President to (i) determine the general direction of domestic and foreign policies of the Government (ii) co-ordinate their respective activities in the discharge of their executive responsibilities and (iii) advise the President generally in discharge of his executive functions other than those functions where he must be advised by other persons. The revelations coming from the NNPC debacle where we now know that it is possible for a Minister of State of a crucial ministry such as the Petroleum Resources not to see the President for months on end should never be allowed to happen. Regular meetings with Ministers and the Vice President as envisaged by section 148 is not, cannot and should not be limited to the weekly Federal Executive Council meetings.
The regular meetings should also include meetings with groups of Ministers and even individual Ministers. That is surely the intendment of the Constitution. As it is with the Federal Government, so it should be with the State Governments, as similar provision for the States exists in section 193 of the 1999 Constitution. The corollary of this is that both at Federal and State level Ministers and Commissioners must be appointed as early as possible into the administration. The situation where President Buhari did not nominate and appoint Ministers until more than 4 months into his administration and Governor Rauf Aregbesola did even worse by waiting almost 3 years to select his cabinet must never happen again.
The Civil and Public Service must become transparent and accountable again. Civil and public servants are there to serve us as their nomenclature indicates. They are not meant to be overlords creating fiefdoms where the general populace become their serfs or even worshippers in some cases. A truly restructured viable and vibrant civil and public service is the lynchpin for a proper democratic, fair and just society.
It is insensitive and inappropriate for Government to expect the best of these workers if they are not properly remunerated not to mention, the present scenario, where even the ridiculous wages that they are paid are paid many months in areas. It is the same insensitivity that extends to the illogical policy of no work, no pay! Imagine the chaos and calamity if the workers through the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) also decided that there would be ‘No pay, no work’! A properly structured government would be faced with no such conundrum and the nation can only be better for it.
Courageous Nigerians must step forward and herald the much needed change in governance. They do not have to wait on President Buhari’s decision as to whether he will seek a second term or not before showing their hand. They would be doing the nation a wealth of good if only what they achieve is to provide stiff opposition to the President and an opportunity for the people to truly use their votes. Otherwise, the Nigerian public would simply have been short-changed and disenfranchised as usual by the political class because again they would be limited in their choice of candidates. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com

President Buhari says the Nigeria-Pakistan Joint Commission will be revamped

President Buhari says the Nigeria-Pakistan Joint Commission will be revamped
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday in Istanbul said the Nigeria-Pakistan Joint Commission will be revamped as a veritable platform to strengthen economic and trade relations between both countries.
He gave the assurance at a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khakan Abbasi, on the margins of the ninth D-8 summit in Istanbul, Turkey. The President, who expressed satisfaction at the level of defence and military cooperation between both countries, however agreed with the Prime Minister that there was still room to do more.
He regretted that same could not be said on the economic and trade fronts, which he said had fallen far short of what can be achieved by both countries.
''Nigeria-Pakistan cooperation is very historical. Military training has been very consistent and I am impressed by the efficiency of officers trained in Pakistan. But the performance of our countries in relation to trade and industrial cooperation had been very disappointing,’’ President Buhari said.
While noting that Nigeria had failed to use past earnings to create a commensurate level of socio-economic development, the President assured that his administration had identified the problems, and was ardently working to promote national development through international trade, industrial growth and the improvement of infrastructure.
He then urged Pakistan to take full advantage of the new climate of investment promoted by his administration. ''There are a lot of opportunities, for us to harness, in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, commerce, solar energy and the electricity sector,'' the President said.
On the fight against terrorism, President Buhari told the Pakistani Prime Minister that Boko Haram terrorist group remains degraded. ''We have moved them out from their strongholds in the North East, we have denied them space and even their attacks on soft targets are becoming less often. Even the opposition [party] recognises that there is a considerable improvement of security in the North East,'' he said.
In his remarks, Abbasi said both countries had similar prospects and challenges, including large population, key regional players in economy and security; the fight against terrorism, improving governance and the domestic economy. He said Pakistan will continue to share experiences with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism towards developing effective strategies and results.
In line with this promise, the Pakistani Prime Minister presented a manual on strategy and tactics of dealing with terrorism to the President, which he said, had been put together by his country's army.
On the Joint Commission, which next meeting falls on Pakistan to convene, the Prime Minister said his country is now ready, adding that he would personally receive the Nigerian delegation any time. He also requested President Buhari to undertake a state visit to Pakistan at the earliest possible time.

Buharism: The Definition of Cluelessness By Reno Omokri

As you read this, the news has just filtered in that herdsmen just killed another 27 Nigerian citizens in Plateau state. But do not worry, the Nigerian government is dealing with the terrorist Indigenous People of Biafra AKA IPOB!
I am sorry if I seems to be trivializing the deaths in Plateau state, but the situation is just ridiculous to say the least. These murderous herdsmen continue to maraud and pillage and the feeble response of President Buhari is to urge the police and security agencies to stop 'this madness'.
Rhetoric. All we get is rhetorics. How many herdsmen have been arrested, prosecuted and convicted as a result of the President's many directives to the police and the security agencies? The answer is between zero and few.
Nigeria is the world's only nation where herdsmen who kill citizens are left alone while secessionists who do not kill are labeled terrorists!
If herdsmen are not terrorists then what are they? Are they a charitable group donating free bullets to Nigerians by shooting it into their bodies?
Herdsmen are killing Nigerians in Plateau state while the Nigerian soldiers who should protect them are carrying out unwanted medical outreaches down South!
Why can't President Buhari divert the soldiers he sent to the South, where no one is killing or dying, to Plateau to deal with killer herdsmen? But what am I even saying? If the President's wife complains that the State House Clinic cannot help her or her family, how can you believe President Muhammadu Buhari can help you or your family in Plateau state or anywhere else in Nigeria?
And instead of facing these issues, the President keeps narrowcasting his blame game to a rapidly shrinking audience.
Just two days ago, the Presidency released a statement blaming the People’s Democratic Party for the restructuring agitations in the country. Perhaps the President's memory is fading and he has forgotten that it was precisely him and his party that campaigned on the issue of restructuring.
But of course, President Buhari never disappoints. He always knows who to blame for the problem and never knows who will solve the problem.
Where real leaders have a solution for every problem, Buhari has someone to blame for every problem. Not everyone with a title is a leader!
And the saddest thing is that like all insecure leaders, President Muhammadu Buhari is now using instruments of state power to intimidate rivals who want to compete for space within the leadership plinth with him.
Atiku Abubakar showed interest. NPA cancels his contract. Tinubu eyes the Presidential seat. SEC announces audit of Oando. Fayose declares interest in 2019 and
within 2 hours the EFCC arrested his finance people to cripple him. Ibe Kachikwu threatened President Buhari's reelection by exposing the deep corruption in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and within days his house was literally on fire. Will 2019 be an election or war?
Sadly, all those who thought Muhammadu Buhari was the messiah now know the difference between a messiah and a messier. Buhari was and is no Messiah. He only came to make Nigeria Messier!
In the five years that he GOVERNED Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan spent ?16 trillion. The economy grew. Naira was stable. We had the greatest expansion of infrastructure since the Gowon years and inflation was at single digit.
In the two years that President Muhammadu Buhari has RULED Nigeria, he has spent ?15 trillion. We have had recession. Naira collapsed. Inflation has gone back to double digits and the only infrastructure that he has started and completed is the Daura helipad.
Yet Buhari called Jonathan clueless but Jonathan has not called Buhari clueless. See life?
Why should Dr. Goodluck Jonathan even bother calling President Buhari clueless? When even the President's Wife complains of the State House Clinic under his own nose. Can cluelessness be more domestic than that?
And then while we were grappling with this monumental show of incompetence as exposed by his wife, along comes the World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, who revealed that the President told him to focus the attention of the bank on Northern Nigeria.
This is what Mr. Kim said "You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we’ve done that. Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very difficult".
And when the rest of the country was justifiably upset with this nepotistic behaviour, the Presidency, rather than pacify the nation, released a very belligerent statement insulting those who dared to question what the President said.
But if the Presidency says the President of the World Bank misinterpreted President Muhammadu Buhari's request urging the bank to focus on Northern Nigeria, then how come 14 out of 17 leadership positions in the military are held by Northerners? How come 36 out of 55 recent top NNPC appointment went to Northerners? How come the Kano-Daura rail was approved while the rail links in Southeast were not funded? How come IPOB are declared terrorists and the army sent after them but Herdsmen are not and grazing reserves planned for them?
According to an investigation carried about The PUNCH Newspaper in their edition of Sunday the 15th of October 2017, no World Bank project has been "specifically designed for" the South South, South East or Middle Belt since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed power.
According to Punch, only the core North and the Southwest have had specific projects under the Buhari administration. It seems the World Bank abided by President Buhari's 97% versus 5% directive for them to 'focus on the North'.
The funniest thing is that these World Bank projects that are 'focused on the North' are loans that will be paid back by all of us!
And this cluelessness pervades the whole administration.
Babatunde Raji Fashola once said a serious government will fix power sector in 6 months. He has been a minister for 2 years, can we conclude that he's unserious? All Progressives Congress once said that ?216 to $1 under Jonathan was unacceptable. Today I ask if ?370 to $1 is acceptable? President Muhammadu Buhari went to Chatham House to condemn public officials who go abroad for healthcare. Today he is Africa's biggest health tourist to London. Nasir El-Rufai mocked Jesus our Lord on Twitter and insulted Goodluck Jonathan while praying. Today he is notorious for jailing his critics! So next time the APC promises you anything, take it with a bucket of salt!
The truth, which I have always known, is that Muhammadu Buhari is as clueless as they come. If you doubt me, go to the State House Clinic and ask for ordinary panadol!

Dogara Donated Six Months Salary To Covenant University – Oyedepo

The Speaker of the Federal House of Assembly, Yakubu Dogara once made a sacrificial offering of his six months salary to Living Faith Ministries during the construction of Covenant University over 15 years ago.
This was made known over the weekend by the Chancellor of Covenant University, Dr. David Oyedepo, during the 2017 Eagles Summit.
The Eagles Summit is an annual gathering of alumnus of Covenant University at the school’s main campus in Ota.
Bishop Oyedepo spoke on developing spiritual capacity towards sustainable global impact.
He narrated, “The Speaker of the Federal House of Assembly has been a son to me since his university days. He shared a testimony yesterday about how he heard me say something in Bauchi in 1988 and it changed his entire life forever. 1988 in Bauchi. It transformed his life forever because he picked it up and ran with it.
“When your University was taking off and we started construction, he sacrificed his 6 months salary wholesale to Covenant University. He has never had to struggle for anything in his life. Everything works in divine frequency for him.”
“And you hear him say again, I am a son of the House. Yes in the midst of wolves, i am a practicing Christian. No truly spiritual person ever gets stranded in life. I gave my life to Christ 48 years ago so I have lived all my life with Jesus. Zero regrets.”
"First Bank officials came here during the third phase of the construction and asked which bank is bankrolling this project, and I told them none. They said it is impossible. They didn't understand."
"Your university has never been indebted to any bank. That is the benefit of spirituality, things work for you in a way that seems impossible to man."
"A top American economist and professor came to visit and came to my office and said this is an Ivy League standard university even in America. I told him thank you, I know."

Minister on catcalling law: Some men still say 'It's french culture

Men who catcall, harass or follow women on the street in France could face on-the-spot fines under a new sexual-abuse law planned by the country's minister for gender equality.

The legislation aims to crack down on the kind of predatory behavior that Marlene Schiappa says restricts French women's everyday lives, making them afraid to leave their homes.

"In France .... every woman has experienced that situation," the minister told CNN. "Going to work, in the subway, on the bus, between in her home and the office, she's been followed by men, she's been asked her number, she's been asked to talk."

"It's about freedom ... Women (end up saying) 'I'm not going (out) anymore, if it's that hard," the author and activist turned politician explained.

"You can't go to work if while you're walking between your house and your office, you are, you are constantly interrupted by men who are asking you for your number ... (or) following you."

Law to shame catcallers

Schiappa said the exact details of the punishments involved had yet to be decided, but that the law would mean police who spot women being targeted would be able to step in.

And more importantly, she said, it was about getting the message across to men that such behavior is completely unacceptable.

"The idea is, symbolically, to say it's not allowed. Because now in France, in the 21st century, you still have men who are saying 'It's ok, I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm just talking to her' -- talking to her for an hour by following her in 12 streets? No, I don't think so!"

She said she hoped the law would embarrass those who harass women into changing their ways.

"Feminists in France have said for a long time that shame has to change," she said. "It's not about the victim feeling ashamed, it's about assaulters, rapists feeling ashamed."

But she says there has been plenty of opposition to her plans.

"We still find men who say ... 'It's French culture, it's love à la française.' They don't want the law to say it's not allowed. There is cultural resistance.

"They're afraid we are forbidding them to talk to women. I think it's really important to have that debate, to say 'It's ok to talk but, it's not ok to assault, there is a real difference.'"

Weinstein scandal

Interest in the proposed law has grown in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Hollywood mogul Weinstein faces accusations of sexual harassment, sexual assault or other sexual misconduct from more than 40 women. Through representatives Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.

In response to the accusations, thousands of women have flooded social media sites with their experiences of harassment and assault, using the hashtag #MeToo.

But Schiappa said she didn't hold out much hope that the Weinstein case would spark a sea change in people's attitudes.

"We say that every time... Now we're talking about Harvey Weinstein, but who's next," she said.

Schiappa, 34, a former deputy mayor of Le Mans, was appointed France's first gender-equality minister by President Emmanuel Macron in May.

She founded the website "Maman travaille" (Mom works), which supports working mothers and campaigns for equal rights.

Gender-based violence

Schiappa said harassment is part of a wider problem of sexual abuse and gender-based violence in France.

According to the French Interior Ministry, one woman in the country dies every three days at the hands of her partner or ex-partner.

Schiappa told CNN that more needed to be done to tell abusers that violence was not acceptable.

"I think it's a cultural fight: We have to say to the men they're not allowed to beat their wives. It's not romantic, it's not rock and roll, it's not fun. They are not bad boys, they are just losers."

But she said she also wanted to see people who were aware of abuse cases stan

*GOD’S LEGALITY .*

Sunday, October 22nd .
Pastor Chris

_*And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen (Romans 16:20).*_

Some people have asked, “Why didn’t God just destroy Satan, instead of allowing him to run rampage all over the place?” Well, Satan is operating on legal grounds, and God respects laws; He’s a covenant keeper and very legal. That’s the reason He’s dealt even with Satan legally.

Before God ever created man, there was Lucifer, the anointed Cherub, who later became the devil through his rebellion against God. He lost his position as God’s vice regent, and his anointing became corrupted. When God eventually created man in His image and in His likeness, Satan hatched a plan to ruin God’s creation. Adam chose to obey Satan in the Garden of Eden, and committed high treason against God, and thus forfeited his authority to Satan.

Satan thus assumed this Adamic authority, and the lease of that authority is still on. Adam became subject to Satan, legally, because the Bible says you become a slave to whoever you obey; this is spiritual law (Romans 6:16). Satan, legally, became Adam’s boss. Remember, God had given Adam authority over the earth, and everything in the earth (Genesis 1:26). That Adamic authority is what Satan still operates with today, and God respects it.

Remember, God had given Adam authority over the earth, and everything in the earth (Genesis 1:26). That Adamic authority is what Satan still operates with today, and God respects it.

A second Adam for a new creation became necessary. Man would require a rebirth under this second Adam; Jesus Christ. The Bible calls Jesus Christ the second and last Adam. He came to make it possible for man to be born again and taken out of the dominion of darkness; from under Satan’s power. The Bible says God has _*“…delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son”*_ (Colossians 1:13). Being born again, you’ve been legally removed, transferred from the control of Satan, into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. Now, you’re a child of God, and bona fide citizen of God’s Kingdom.

*PRAYER*

*I worship you, blessed Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for your greatness, power, mercy, grace and love. There’s none like you; you’re the only true and wise God. Your work is perfect and all your ways are just! Thank you for bringing me into the glorious liberty of the sons of God; you’ve established me in Zion, as a tree of righteousness, to produce fruits and works of righteousness. Amen.*

I make progress with giant strides, by the power of God's blessings that is at work in me. Hallelujah. I have received increased grace and ability to fulfill the ministry of reconciliation to those in my world and in the regions beyond. Daily, I walk in an increased grace, wisdom, and divine provisions. I am Abraham’s seed, and therefore, an heir according to the promise! As Abraham was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold, so have I been made exceedingly fruitful and rich in all things! I am plugged to a heavenly supply, living in abundance always. Glory to God.

Buhari Must Include APC Members In Looters’ List To Be Published – Shehu Sani
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-21-2017, 05:13 PM - No Replies

Shehu Sani, Senator from Kaduna Central, has called on the Federal Government to include members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the cabal suspected to be in the presidency in the list of looters to be published soon.
Sani, in a figurative statement said the names of looters being compiled for publication should not have members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alone.
The Kaduna Central representative at the National Assembly made the call in a post on his Facebook page, on Friday.
The post read, “The Federal Government’s decision to publish the names of looters is commendable. Hope the ‘call-up’ list will not be limited to the ageing ‘Umbrella United’ players, but will include those in the ‘Broomers FC’ and ‘Paris Saint Germain’ and ‘Dynamo Cabal FC’ players.”
The lawmaker used the broom to refer to the APC while PDP was referred to as the umbrella party.
Buhari had recently ordered Ministries, Departments and agencies to compile names of treasury looters for publication.

Morning Devotional For Saturday 21st October
User Avatar Forum: Daily Devotions

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (OCTOBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*STAY IN THE WORD .*

Saturday, October 21st .
Pastor Chris

_*Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock (Luke 6:47-48).*_

A dear minister of the Gospel once asked me, “How come some ministers serve God for so many years and then somehow end badly? How can we get to finish gloriously and not fail?” My response was to refer him to the words of Jesus in our theme scripture. If we pay attention to His Word, we’ll always win. He told us to hear and live by His Word.

Preaching the Word and living the Word are two different things. Just because you’re preaching it doesn’t mean it’s working in your life; you must live the Word. The Word of Godis the answer to every question and the solution to every problem. That’s why we share and teach the Word, to help God’s people understand the Word and live the Word.

The Apostle Paul was very successful as a minister of the Gospel. At the end, he declared, _*“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...”*_ (2 Timothy 4:7). He proved and lived the Word for himself. In Acts 20:32, he acknowledged and reiterated the efficacy of God’s Word, in his parting remarks to the brethren in the church at Ephesus. It’s about staying in the Word.

God has already given you everything you could ever need in your life. He’s given you righteousness, health, success, peace, prosperity, joy, victory, and all things in Christ Jesus. Seize them and make them yours. Don’t try to get “anything” from God; you already have all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

Therefore, every so often, declare, “I’m the righteousness of God in Christ. I have the life of God in me. I’m a success. I walk in health, prosperity, peace, and joy!” Your confession of the Word manifests realities. Stay in the Word, and your success in life and ministry shall be guaranteed for all time. Hallelujah!

*CONFESSION*

*My life is renewed and refreshed as I stay on the Word through meditation. My path is flooded with light, and I walk in righteousness, prosperity, health, success and victory at all times. The lines are indeed fallen unto me in pleasant places and I have a goodly heritage. Glory to God!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Psalm 119:105* Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. *||*

*||* *James 1:21-25* Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. *||*

Zenith Bank Grows Nine Months Profit By 36% To N130bn
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 03:48 PM - No Replies

Shareholders of Zenith Bank Plc should be expecting a bumper harvest at the end of 2017 financial year if the impressive performance recorded for the nine months ended September 30, 2017 is sustained.
The results released yesterday showed growth in major performance indicators despite the challenging operating environment. The bank recorded gross earnings of N531.3 billion, showing a growth of 39.7 per cent above the N380.4 billion posted in the corresponding period of 2016. Net interest income rose marginally by 6.2 per cent from N189.8 billion to N201.5 billion, while non-interest income surged by 123 per cent to N169.5 billion, from N94.7 billion.
Still reflecting the challenges borrowers are facing in repayment of loans, the bank’s credit impairment charges rose by 115 per cent from N21.9 billion to N47.1 billion.
Zenith Bank grew its profit before tax (PBT) by 30.8 per cent from N116.6 billion to N152.5 billion, while profit after tax (PAT) grew faster by 36 per cent to N129.2 billion, compared with N95.4 billion in 2016.
The bank enjoyed high customer loyalty and patronage as deposits grew from N2.6 trillion at the end of December 2016 to N3.1 trillion as at September. But loans and advances fell marginally by 2.6 per cent to N2.2 trillion, from N2.4 trillion. Total assets stood at N5.1 trillion, up from N4.6 trillion in December 2016.
Shareholders of Zenith Bank received an interim of N7.8 billion for the half year (H1) ended June 30, 2017. The dividend translates to 25 kobo per share.
The Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Jim Ovia had told shareholders last March that in line with its commitment to delivering superior returns to its much-valued shareholders, the bank ensured that a good chunk of the profit was set aside for shareholders.
According to him, even in the face of a very challenging operating environment, Zenith Bank has maintained its culture of outstanding performance and industry leadership.
He said: “As a bank, we are monitoring developments both in the local and global economy and applying pragmatism and dynamism as appropriate. Our strategy and approach to the pursuit of financial inclusion and sustainability gives us a lot of competitive advantage to explore even new frontiers in the market.”
The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Mr. Peter Amangbo said as an institution of well-primed people, the bank relied on its pool of exceptional staff to make sound and timely decision and addressed issues in a manner that anticipated developments and demonstrated excellent understanding of the dynamics of the market and economy.

More Bank Accounts To Be Shut As CBN Issues Strict BVN Rules
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 03:46 PM - No Replies

By Hamisu Muhammad (Abuja) & Kayode Ekundayo (Lagos)
Banks will soon crack down on customer’s accounts following new directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday, on Bank Verification Number (BVN) operations and watch-list for the banking industry.
Records from the NIBSS show that there were about 45.85 million total bank accounts unlinked, but when compared with the active accounts the number dropped to 15.72 million unlinked to BVN as of February 2017.
The record further shows that as of October 8th, 2017, the total BVN issued were 30,511,506.
In a memo to the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and Other Financial Institutions (OFIs) obtained by Daily Trust signed by Mr. Dipo Fatokun, Director Banking and Payment System, the apex bank warned banks and OFIs to ensure proper capturing of the BVN data and validate same before linkage with customers’ accounts; ensure all operated accounts are linked with the signatories’ BVN; and ensure customer’s names on the BVN database are the same in all of his/her accounts, across the banking industry.
Some intelligence reports observe recently that some banks have relaxed the BVN linkage of some customers, a situation that will allow fraudulent transactions in the banking system, a source in the banking industry told Daily Trust.
With the new circular, the apex regulator orders banks to report confirmed fraudulent individuals’ BVNs to NIBSS for update of the watch-list database; report the BVN of deceased customers to NIBSS for update on the BVN database; render returns to NIBSS for enlisting individuals involved in confirmed fraudulent activities, with the report signed by the chief audit executives.
The new regulation also states that CBN (Banking Supervision Department) shall be granted real-time online access to the watch-list database while the chief audit executive of the customer’s bank shall be notified, where a bank needs to watch-list a customer of another bank.
The chief audit executive of the customer’s bank, upon notification, shall investigate within one month and after confirmation of the fraudulent activity, watch-list the customer within two business days.
CBN also mandates NIBSS to ensure BVN data are stored within the shores of Nigeria and shall not be routed across borders without the consent of the CBN while users of the BVN information shall establish adequate security procedures to ensure the safety and security of its information and those of its clients, which shall include physical, logical, network and enterprise security.
Appropriate penalties shall apply to any bank that fails to enlist individuals confirmed to be involved in fraudulent activity, it said.
“Any other stakeholder who fails to perform its stipulated responsibilities shall be penalized by the CBN. A watch-listed individual shall not be allowed to enter into new relationship with any bank. A bank may choose not to continue business relationship with account holder on the watch-list.
“Where a bank chooses to continue an existing business relationship with holders of account on the watch-list, the account holder shall be prohibited from all e-channels, such as ATM, POS, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, including issuance of third-party cheques.
“A watch-listed customer shall not provide reference to another customer, neither shall he/she be allowed access to credit facility or guarantee credit facilities,” the new circular directed.

17 Governors Plot Oyegun’s Removal As APC Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 03:43 PM - No Replies

Crisis has broken out in the All Progressives Congress (APC), with 17 governors plotting to dump National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun.
The governors are said to be angry that Oyegun has been running the party with only seven of their colleagues.
They may table their grievances at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 31 and pass a vote of no confidence in Oyegun.
The governors are said to have reached out to President Muhammadu Buhari on their decision to reject Oyegun’s leadership.
But Oyegun’s supporters have fingered former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s backers as part of the plot.
They said Oshiomhole’s loyalists had been lobbying party leaders ahead of the NEC meeting to concede the slot to the ex-governor should Oyegun be forced to step aside.
APC seems set for a “make or break” meeting because of the sharp division among the governors on Oyegun.
Some of the governors are alleged to have refused to assist the party because of the national chairman.
A source, who pleaded not to be named, said: “Ahead of the NEC meeting of APC next week, there is tension in the party. About 17 of the 24 governors are unhappy with the national chairman. They are plotting to withdraw their support for him, unless he carries all of them along.”
In Oyegun’s corner are Governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna); Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano); Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi); Rochas Okorocha (Imo); Solomon Lalong (Plateau); Yahaya Bello (Kogi) and Samuel Ortom (Benue).
“The 17 governors believe that Oyegun is romancing their seven colleagues because the APC National Chairman believes they are close to the President.
“They expressed fears that the party might split the way the National Chairman was leaving decisions on issues to the ‘anointed’ governors,” the source added.
Another source said: “Initially, the 17 governors decided to write a letter to the APC leadership but they shelved the idea because it will appear as if they are reporting their colleagues.
“They are, however, reaching out to President Buhari but through the back channels to avoid embarrassing the President during the October 31 NEC meeting.
“They want the President to call the National Chairman to order. They said if care is not taken, they might be forced to come out openly on their concern.”
But a member of NEC said: “What you are hearing is a game plan to pass a vote of no confidence on Oyegun at the NEC meeting.
“The issues the 17 governors are raising are part of the conspiracy against the National Chairman. And what you are likely to see is the direction where things will go at the NEC session.
“As regards Oyegun’s preference for some governors, I do not think it is true. If the chairman has personal relationship with some governors, I think it is by virtue of their position or performance.
“For instance, the National Chairman does not hide his likeness for El-Rufai who he describes openly as ‘very energetic and full of ideas’. He is always proud of the governor of Kebbi and he relates well with Okorocha as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF). He is also used to the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Abdul-Aziz Yari, to get update on issues of governance.”
Another NEC source said Oyegun’s camp was already aware of “the plot”.
“In the last few days, strategists of Oshiomhole have been pushing his candidacy as successor to Oyegun ahead of the NEC meeting.
“But the pro-Oshiomhole governors will fail because by the APC constitution, only the Deputy National Chairman from the South, Chief Segun Oni, can succeed Oyegun.”
“The thinking is that Oni could resign at the NEC meeting to contest the Ekiti State governorship primaries. The APC constitution is silent on who takes over.
“So, we will be running into a deeper crisis, the source added”
National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi told our correspondent last night on telephone: “I don’t know the basis for the discontent because the party’s leaders always meet with the governors every month. And on some occasions, we had more than 70 to 80 per cent attendance.
“In fact, we met with the governors on Wednesday in Abuja as part of our monthly session with them. If there is any discontent, such a forum would have provided an opportunity for them to raise it.”

CRR: Zenith, First Bank, GTB, 4 Others Raise N2.14trn In 6 Months
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 01:55 PM - No Replies

By Kayode Tokede, Lagos
With the Cash Reserve Ratio at 22.5 per cent, a total of seven Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) deposited N2.14 trillion with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) between January and June 2017, LEADERSHIP can report.
CRR is the amount of funds that DMBs have to hold as reserves either in cash or as deposits with the apex bank. The CBN uses the CRR to drain out excess liquidity from the DMBs. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the CBN in March 2016 had resolved to raise the CRR to 22.5 per cent from 20 per cent, in a move aimed at tightening liquidity from the system.
The committee towards the end of 2015 reduced the CRR from 25 per cent to 20 per cent with a view to channeling the liquidity arising there to the real sector while in July 2015, the CRR was pegged at 31 per cent.
The seven DMBs had deposited a total sum of N2.1 trillion with CBN in 2016 and the funds are not available for use in day-to-day operations. According to LEADERSHIP investigations, Tier-I banks deposit with CBN continued to rise despite drop in customers’ deposit in the period under review.
Of the N2.14 trillion CRR with CBN, First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) Plc and Zenith Bank Plc deposited estimated N1.2 trillion or 58.1 per cent. The breakdown revealed that, GTBank’s mandatory deposit (CRR) with CBN moved to N350.9 billion as at June 30, 2017 an increase of 7.3 per cent from N327 billion reported in 2016.
Zenith Bank’s CRR rose by 4.4 per cent to N467 billion as at June 30, 2017 from N447.49 billion in 2016 while First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc reported a drop of 22 per cent in mandatory deposit with CBN to N424.5 billion from 543 billion in 2016. The likes of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) deposit with CBN rose by 6.3 per cent to N342 as at June 30, 2017 from N321.9 billion in 2016.
Access Bank Plc restricted deposited with CBN gained 8.7 per cent from N250.8 billion reported in 2016 to N272.7 billion as at June 30, 2017. Stanbic IBTC Holdings and Fidelity Bank Plc deposited N127.6 billion and N154 billion to CBN, an increase of 43.8 per cent and 9.98 per cent over N88.77 billion and N140 billion reported last year.
While commenting on the MPC decision to increase the CRR to 22.5 per cent, the CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele noted that the committee noted that the excess liquidity in the banking system was contributing to the current pressure in the foreign exchange market with a strong pass-through to consumer prices.
“The committee further noted that, previous efforts to reflate the economy in order to spur growth, did not elicit the required response from DMBs, hence the surfeit of liquidity in the interbank market.
“Obviously, the attendant low rates at that market have not transmitted to the term structure of interest rates. Concerned about the need for low interest rates to support growth and employment, the committee urged the CBN to explore innovative ways of ensuring the unhindered flow of credit at low cost to key growth sectors, even as monetary policy has to, under the circumstance, address the liquidity surfeit in the banking system as well as the pressure on exchange rate and consumer prices.
“The committee hopes that fiscal and other structural policies would soon be deployed to strengthen the overall response of macroeconomic policy to the shocks.” The CBN has continued to invest the deposited funds to key sectors of the nation’s economy.
Hitherto, the managing director, Highcap Securities Limited, Mr. David Adnori said the mandatory deposit by Banks into CBN’s has sustained liquidity in the economy. He noted that the CBN had to strike a balance of how many public funds that include government deposit that are being accessible by the banks.
He said, “The major reason CBN increased CRR to 2.5 per cent is for banks to discharge their obligations to customers efficiently. The CRR increased from 20 per cent to 22.5 per cent is to safe guide customers deposit with CBN. A lot of money is borrowed out by banks and the mandatory deposit with CBN is to protect cash withdrawal.”

Jonathan Blasts APC Govt Again, Says APC Govt Full Of Lies
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 01:51 PM - No Replies

As the race for the office of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hots up, former President Goodluck Jonathan again lashed out at the All Progressives Congress, APC led administration for running a government of lies and propaganda.
Speaking in Abuja yesterday while receiving in audience with one of the contenders to the Office of the National Chairman of the Party, Professor Tunde Adeniran and his campaign team, Jonathan declared that he made to say that the PDP did well from May 29, 1999, till May 29, 2015, when it handed over power to the APC, saying since then till date the APC Administration has done nothing for the nation.
He stated that since then the APC Administration has nothing to show as an achievement but rather It has been ruling through lies and deployment of hi-tech propaganda to cover up its misrules.
Jonathan who cited instances to back up his claim challenged the administration to a public over his submission
According to him, “PDP administration for 16 did well and will continue to do well but this administration has done nothing, the administration is full lies and propaganda.
“In the power sector we did well to revive it, a state governor cruised our government, saying that any serious government should be able to fix the power within six months, today APC has been power for how many years? Fortunately, the then governor is in the APC Government as a Minister.”
Jonathan, however, said that all hope was not lost as the PDP would go all out and put its house in order for it to return to power come 2019 since Nigerians have been able to see things for them on the differences between that APC and the PDP.
“With the rate at which people are coming around to associate with a Party that lost elections, it shows that the people still believe in the PDP, with the numbers and calibers of the People coming out to vie for the seat of the National Chairman and offices of our Party, it shows that our Party still have another chance.”
He declared that for the Party to get it right and regained its lost glory, it would need a competent, reliable and courageous National Chairman who would then lead the Party to victory come 2019.
According to Jonathan, “the contest for the office of the National Chairman is very interesting, this is healthy competition, many of the aspirants have been coming here, this will allow the delegates to choose the best among then at the Convention.
“However, for the Party to make a headway, we need a National Chairman that will select credible and reliable candidates for various elective offices at the various level of governments from the Presidency to the Councilorship.
“We need a National Chairman who will be courageous enough to call the President to order if he wins the Presidency and the President is going astray, he must not be someone when the Party takes a position on issues, he will change.
“We need a National Chairman who will rule the Party democratically and carry others along, in fact , the National Chairman is the leader of the Party, it is not the way around.”
Jonathan disclosed that with his long interaction with Professor Adeniran and testimonies of other Party leaders, he possessed all it needed to lead the Party at this critical point of time and wished success in the race.
He, however, advised the Party members and the aspirants not to allow the Convention to cause another crisis in the Party, saying that the contest should be seen as a family affair.
In his remarks, Professor Adeniran Stated that initially he was not interested in the race but the need to rebuild and reposition of the Party ahead of the 2019 General elections prompted him to join the race.
Prof Adeniran Said that he would in the race to make that to regain it’s lost glory and give Nigerians the real dividends of democracy that have eluded then since the PDP lost power in 2015.
Speaking earlier, a member of the BOT of the Party, Prof Jerry Gana and the Director General of Tunde Adeniran Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gaban extolled the virtues of Adeniran whom they described as the best man for the job based on his records of service both in the Party and public service.

NNPC: $25bn Secret Oil Deals And Buhari’s Dissonant Lying Game - Ifeanyi Izeze
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-20-2017, 01:47 PM - No Replies

Does it mean the sense of shame has been completely lost in this country by people holding positions of trust in and around government? How do you reconcile that some highly-placed individuals can come out to say there were no issues of contract awards raised by the Minister of State Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, in his leaked memo to President Muhammadu Buhari, who also doubles as the substantive Petroleum Minister? The broad day lies being dangled by the government and its agents to change the actual color and content of the leaked memo - is it not outright corruption in itself?
If the arrangements previously referred to as Offshore Crude Oil Processing Agreements (OPAs) and Crude-for-Products Exchange and now known as Direct Sale-Direct Purchase Agreements (DSDP), are not contracts for crude oil lifting in exchange for imported petrol and diesel, what are they - cha cha (gambling) abi?
What exactly is transparent in a deal where crony local companies obviously connected to politicians in the ruling party are paired with multinationals simply to collect rent and share with political elites in government?
Just see the fumbling of a mendacious bunch: Kachikwu, in his memo, alleged that Baru awarded contracts worth about $25 billion without recourse to the board, or Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Buhari ordered Baru to respond to Kachikwu’s allegations. The NNPC boss, in his original response, did not deny awarding the controversial oil contracts but rather insisted that he does not require Kachikwu’s nor the board’s approvals to enter into such contracts which are part of daily the running of the nation’s apex oil concern.
Spokesperson to the Vice President, Laolu Akande, either was pushed or willingly accepted to announce that his boss, Prof. Osinbajo actually approved two of the controversial oil contracts while the president was attending to his ill health in London. The Vice President came out few hours later to deny what his spokesperson said and disclosed he never approved any oil contract but loans for Joint Venture cash calls which is even an entirely different story and a discussion for another day.
The last scene thus far was that the Presidency last Sunday, totally dismissed reports that $25bn worth of oil contracts were awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), saying, “a closer look at each of the said projects indicate clearly that these are not procurement contracts.”
Is this story not becoming increasingly interesting? First version, Buhari signed the contract while in London; second version, Osinbajo signed the contract; latest version, Presidency says there is no contract anywhere. Haba! How did we get to this point in the governance of this country?
Even Baru admitted awarding the controversial contracts, while Osinbajo clarified the role he played. So how come spin doctors are coming to tell us there were no issues of contract awards with the associated fraud and corruption thereof?
As my Warri people would say, Bros see explanation by the Presidency: “When you look diligently at the referenced projects/transactions one by one, you will see, as NNPC has shown, that none of them was actually a procurement contract. Take the Crude Term Contract and the Direct Sale, Direct Purchase (DSDP) agreements, for instance, these are not procurement contracts involving the expenditure of public funds. It is therefore wrong and misleading to refer to them as though they’re contracts involving the expenditure of NNPC funds, or public funds of any sort.” ‘Chai, who do Nigeria this’?
You see our country! So Kachikwu lied in his memo; Baru lied in his initial response that Buhari approved with dates the contracts while in bed in London; and the vice president through his spokesperson initially lied or made a mistake in saying he approved two of the contracts? Couldn’t it have been better if Nigerians were dished with one turn-key corporate lie rather than these pockets of unintelligent rations?
How could the presidency say there were no contracts procured by NNPC based on the leaked memo by the Minister of State for Petroleum? Saying that such impressions were maliciously created was an outright insult to our sensibility as a nation. Did Osinbajo not read Kachikwu’s letter with the itemized sub-headings under contracts? Was it maliciously created by the press or the opposition? Was it not Kachikwu who in his memo described these deals as contracts? So the minister does not know what a contract is? How can you then turn around to say it was maliciously created by the press and the opposition? The deals highlighted under that heading, if they are not contracts, what are they- cha-cha?
The fuel subsidy scam of the Jonathan era, were they not mostly crude oil lifting deals similar to these ones by Baru? And you are telling us these are not contracts. Any business transaction between entities more especially the government is a contract because there are contractual obligations to be fulfilled by the parties and profits/benefits to be derived from such arrangements.
Ibe Kachikwu listed concerns up to the tune of $25 billion and the only thing Baru and the Presidency could do is to paint a cover up. If Osinbajo agreed that he signed for Baru some loan deals for joint venture cash call obligation, how much exactly did he approved and what percentage is the approved money (loans) in the $25 billion sum total of the secret contracts? How much is the vice president’s approval covering for these scams? As the VP has agreed he approved N640 billion which is just about $2 billion for JV cash calls, who approved the balance of over $23 billion for Baru and his NNPC?
Saying that these contracts are not about public funds is outright rubbish. It is not about public funds, it is about deals that has remained the drain pipe of the massive corruption in the NNPC and the entire Nigerian oil sector. Does anybody get into a deal without expecting to make profit and it is in these “profits” that our oil monies have been stolen massively by those in and around government. So by telling us that these deals are not paid for in cash is simply insulting our intelligence.
A lot of these deals are paid for through crude oil liftings. You ask a contractor to come and lift the oil equivalent of his money in the deal, is the contractor going to discharge the oil in his recreational swimming pool? Is he not going to sell the oil to make money to cover his expenses and profits? Everything we call corruption in Nigeria come from deals like this where people in and around government build-in their criminal interests rather than our collect interests as a nation.
Meanwhile, the substantive minister of petroleum who should take responsibility and account to us what really transpired has remained dead silent on this matter.
It will shock Nigerians to know that what is involved in this racket is over 600,000 barrels of crude oil on daily basis being picked by international traders in exchange for imported petrol and diesel alone. This is the same NNPC that wants us to believe that the nation’s three and half refineries have been working at over 65 percent cumulative capacity utilization.
Now that the bubble is bursting in the ongoing fraud, the NNPC has come out to inform us that the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries have been shut down for Turn-Around-Maintenance. Has it ever happened in this country that the three plants will be shut down at the same day for TAM and does it even make a sound engineering management sense? The truth is that the refineries were not working in the first instance. That a plant is flamed -up like what Kaduna does daily does not mean it is processing anything. Of course, how can our refineries process anything when it is more lucrative in Nigeria to do deals and collect rents. God help Nigeria!

GOODMORNING

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

*THE DOMINION OF CHRIST.*

Friday, October 20th, 2017

_*And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18).*_

The Lord Jesus Christ has the dominion over all things, including men, angels, and demons; things in heaven, on earth and under the earth are subject to Jesus, and must obey His voice. As His representatives and ambassadors here on earth, He has in turn given us dominion over all things. He exercises His authority today through us—His Church—which is His body.

Ephesians 1:21, talking about the resurrected Christ, tells us that He’s seated in the heavenly realms, _*“Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age {and} in this world, but also in the age {and} the world which are to come”*_ (AMPC). Here, the word “rule,” means two things: first, it means the authority that governs, and secondly, it means the decrees by which they govern. It refers to rulership and its rules. So, it makes no difference what rule has been made, Jesus is far above all rule. Notice that He’s set, not just above, or near above, but FAR above all rule. Hallelujah!

And then Philippians 2:9-11 says, _*“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”*_ The Church really hasn’t used the Name of Jesus as it ought to. That Name opens every door. In His Name, you have power to cast out devils, tame the forces of nature, and mobilise angels to minister for you.

Christ has brought us into a life of extraordinary dominion. We’re not victims, but victors in this world. The Bible says, _*“…as he is, so are we in this world”*_ (1 John 4:17). We function in His stead. He gave us the right, the power of attorney to act in His place! Whatever you declare in His Name, He makes it happen. Stop crying and begging God to do something about your case. Use the Name of Jesus! Exercise dominion over the circumstances of your life today, and always be victorious.

*PRAYER*
*Precious Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the power of attorney to act in your stead. I take full advantage of the authority you’ve given me to put a stop to every evil work around me, declaring and insisting that your will alone prevails in my life and circumstances. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *Luke 10:19* Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

*Mark 16:17* And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Grieving widower finds nurse having sex with his dead wife

Grieving widower visiting his dead wife one last time in hospital ‘finds nurse having sex with corpse’
A grieving widower allegedly caught a male nurse having sex with his wife’s corpse as he visited her one last time in hospital.
The nurse was beaten by the grief-stricken partner before being handed over to police in the Bolivian capital La Paz.
He was named locally last night as Grover Macuchapi, 27.
He is now facing prosecution on charges of profaning a corpse and obscene acts.
Police chief Douglas Uzquiano said the incident happened around an hour after the patient died at Hospital de Clinicas in La Paz on Monday and was transferred to a hospital morgue.

Quote:He said: “Relatives of the dead woman had gone to the hospital to cancel a debt they had for the medical treatment she received.
“The husband went to the morgue and saw a male nurse having sex with his late wife.”
The unnamed husband told a local newspaper: “I saw what he was doing and hit him. He was moving and he had his trousers down.”
The hospital worker blamed his actions on a trance.
He was quoted as saying: “Something happened. It was like a dream. The next thing I remember was feeling a blow from behind when the woman’s husband hit me.”
The unnamed female patient, a 28-year-old, had only died around an hour before she was targeted.
Prosecutors said Macuchapi could not be charged with necrophilia because the offence didn’t exist under Peruvian law.
Last May police in Argentina arrested a man who broke into a hospital morgue to have sex with a dead woman.
The 22-year-old drifter told cops he acted out of an “insatiable desire to have sex in the hospital”.
Staff dialled 999 after seeing the pervert had taken a body out of one of the freezers and was standing over his victim with his pants round his ankles.
He was still acting out his sick fantasy when the police arrived and made no attempt to resist arrest.
The bizarre incident happened at San Vicente de Paul Hospital in Oran, north-west Argentina.

The woman he targeted was a 41-year-old from a village 70 miles away whose sudden death was due to be investigated in an autopsy later that morning.
He slipped into the hospital after getting past a security guard who was answering the call of nature.
Local reports said police found cash in a rucksack he was carrying which patients and their families leave the hospital when they are discharged.

Blac Chyna sues the ENTIRE Kardashian family for killing her reality TV show
[Image: Untitled-collage-38-482x410.jpg]
So, in case you haven't heard, Blac Chyna is suing all of the Kardashian family, because according to her, they damaged her brand and sabotaged her reality show with ex-fiancee Rob Kardashian, Rob & Chyna.
The 29-year-old, real name Angela White, who shares daughter Dream with Rob, claims the Kardashian clan cost her a fortune after they interfered with the shooting of Rob & Chyna to the point E! pulled the plug.
She also alleges the nude photo scandal in July, when Rob, 30, went on a social media rampage against her, caused her ‘significant damages’ and also details the alleged verbal and physical abuse she suffered at the hands of Rob.

The lawsuit which People has obtained states:

‘Rob Kardashian is an abuser intent on destroying Angela White, the mother of his baby, who left him in 2016,

‘In revenge, the Kardashian-Jenner family became media predators, slut-shaming her on social media and killing her hit television show, which had already begun filming a second season.’

In the legal documents Chyna – who also shares son King with ex Tyga (who is Kylie Jenner’s ex) – names Rob, his mother Kris Jenner, as well as sisters Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie.

‘Rob Kardashian and his powerful, vindictive family have done enough damage to Ms. White’s career and professional reputation, which she singlehandedly built from scratch—without the help of a famous last name. This lawsuit seeks to hold them accountable,’ the lawsuit states.

Study Finally Explains The Relationship Between Sugar And Cancer
[Image: sugar-cubes.jpg]

Sugar doesn;t cause cancer but cancer cells feed on it and it helps them grow and multiply really fast. iflscience pub lished the relationship between these two in details.... Read below:
Scientists have discovered the exact relationship between sugar and cancer by revealing that the way in which cancer cells break down sugar is linked to the stimulation of tumor growth.
Cancer cells tend to produce energy differently from normal cells – they use a process that involves fermentation of glucose into lactate, rather than ordinary respiration.
Every cell in the body needs sugar to survive. But cancer cells seem to require more than healthy cells do. They also seem to break sugar down faster. Cancer’s mechanism of speedily metabolizing sugar is known as the Warburg effect.
Scientists have long pondered whether this phenomenon is related to how aggressively tumors grow.
"Our research reveals how the hyperactive sugar consumption of cancerous cells leads to a vicious cycle of continued stimulation of cancer development and growth,” explained study author Professor Johan Thevelein, from Belgium’s VIB-KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology, in a statement.
“Thus, it is able to explain the correlation between the strength of the Warburg effect and tumor aggressiveness. This link between sugar and cancer has sweeping consequences. Our results provide a foundation for future research in this domain, which can now be performed with a much more precise and relevant focus."
Before now it wasn’t clear whether the Warburg effect was just a symptom of cancer, or whether it could affect tumor growth. The new study shows that the Warburg effect actually stimulates the growth of cancerous tumors – although this in no way means that sugar causes cancer. The findings are published in the journal Nature Communications.
To conduct their research, the scientists used yeast as a model organism. Yeast also produces energy from sugar via fermentation, just like cancer cells do. It also contains the “Ras” proteins that are found in cancer.

5 Ways To Control The Amount Of Food You Eat Without Starving
User Avatar Forum: Food
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-19-2017, 11:43 AM - No Replies

Hello, guys, it's your favorite health blogger, Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor

I am completely against starving yourself to look good, although many celebrities claim to do it, one thing you and I know is that many hot looking celebrities have money to spend on hospital bills when their body starts reacting to the lack of sufficient nutrients (which might due to starvation).

To look good you need to think about the way healthy good looking people do and not just grab any advice you see on the internet, you need something that works and most importantly something that can work for you.

These tips are not to trick your body into believing that it is full. It's more of discipline.

5 Ways To Control The Amount Of Food You Eat Without Starving

1. Decide How Much You Want to Eat

Decide how much food you will be willing to consume and your body will readily accept it. Although it would not be easy at first, you will be able to scale through if you remain true to yourself.

This will also help you maintain your weight long term as you are in control how much calories you consume and how you make use of them.

Making this decision simply means staying off the excess calories you normally consume all in the name of them being irresistible (a.k.a longthroat). After your dinner, don't go for any other meal just because you feel that your body needs more. Make that decision and stick to it.

2. Drink Water Before and During Eating

Make sure you drink water before eating as this makes you get full quickly and helps control your food intake. Also, drink water in between meals to help you eat less.

When I say drink water, I don't mean you just take a sip like Celebrities do when drinking wine on Africa Magic. Take enough.

Drinking water before and during meals is one of the best ways to control your food intake. Maybe its because it requires less discipline.

3. Smaller Plates, Smaller Meals

Use smaller plates, and eat smaller meals, these aids in quick digestion and allows you to make use of the calories that comes out of these foods.

Copyright: Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor (realfitbody.com)

Also eating smaller meals helps you moderate the amount of food you eat, although losing fat is not about reducing the amount of food you eat but reducing the number of calories you consume. A small meal should contain more proteins and fiber and less carbohydrate or simply just half your normal meal.

4. Chew Slowly and Longer

I believe the reason why most people eat a lot more food is that of 3 main reasons.

1. They allow themselves to go extremely hungry before they eat
2. They eat very fast.
3. They don’t want to control themselves

Take longer time to chew your meals and chew them slowly enough. Enjoy the taste of the food. If you think this is weird, then you are not thinking the way healthy good looking people do.

5. Drink More Water

Water is required to make your brain and organs work more efficiently and that is why sometimes we feel confused, easily fatigued and thirsty.

Also, increased water intake reduces food cravings which normally makes us eat more.

The recommended intake of water is at least 2 litres of water (6 - 10 glasses). But I recommend that whatever you take should depend on your weight, age and lifestyle as those who have more weight and have high activity levels should take more water.

I normally go for as many as I can, but you can put that between 8 – 10 glasses of water a day.

6. Proteins

Filling your plate with proteins help you fill up quickly and also stay full. A small breakfast of bread, tea, and eggs is good enough to keep you running for the day before your next big meal.

So there you have it

Man arrested while fleeing with 5 abducted children in Ogun
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-19-2017, 11:06 AM - No Replies

A resident of Isheri-Olofin, Ogun State, has been arrested by the police after he was caught with five children he allegedly abducted from the community.
Punch Metro learnt that the suspect, whose name was given simply as Adebayo, had lured the children out of the neighbourhood.
The victims were identified simply as Tunde, 6; Kehinde, 6; Ayo, 7; Ayomide, 8; and Basirat, 8.
It was gathered that some parents of the victims and a large number of residents had attended a church crusade on Sunday, while the children played around.
Adebayo, who had moved into the community four days earlier, reportedly lured the children under false pretences of taking them somewhere for a treat.
He was about to board a bus at Kara bus stop when a resident, who was returning from Mowe, Ogun State, met him at the bus stop with the children.

When the resident, a woman, asked where the children were being taken to, the suspect reportedly rambled, making her to raise the alarm.

A resident, Taiwo Adetunji, said policemen from the Ojodu Abiodun division were alerted to the incident and the suspect was arrested.
He said,

Quote:“A church crusade was held in the community on Sunday, October 8, at about 6pm, which many people attended. The man moved into the community on October 4 and he was unknown to many people. He cashed in on the programme to abduct the kids.
“If the woman did not see him at the bus stop, he would have taken the five children away. We are still wondering how he managed to pick the children without being challenged by anybody. He probably used charms because our children don’t normally follow strangers. We have never witnessed such an incident in the community before.”
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity said he collected Adebayo’s mobile phone and discovered that he had been conversing with somebody, who was expected to bring a vehicle that would take the children away.
Quote:“I collected his phone and spoke with his accomplice who was talking to him. When the caller noticed that my voice was different from Adebayo’s, he terminated the call. Since then, the person’s line has not been going through.
“A mob wanted to beat him up at the bus stop, but we cautioned them and handed him over to policemen from the Ojodu Abiodun division,” he added.
One Fatimo Femi, whose son and grandson were among the victims, said she was a neighbour to the suspect. She added that she was sleeping when the news of the abduction filtered into the community.
She said,
Quote:“The suspect was living with his friend in our compound, but my children don’t relate with him. I was surprised how he was able to lure them out of the house.”
The spokesperson for Oba of Isheri-Olofin, Alhaji Saudi Adeshina, said the incident had made them to beef up security in the community to prevent a recurrence.

Why The Statue Of Fela Kuti In Lagos Is Headless
User Avatar Forum: Music
Posted by: Gimbiya - 10-19-2017, 11:05 AM - No Replies

Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti continues to be a legend even 20 years after his demise.

The 2017 edition of the festival was a special edition as it marked the 20th year anniversary of Fela’s demise, and the Lagos State government commemorated the legend by erecting ‘The Liberation’ a statue of Fela at Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, Lagos.

To the surprise of several people, the statue erected was without a head and this raised a lot of suspiscion and comments from fans of the late Afrobeat legend.

Responding on behalf of the family, Fela’s daughter and social commentator, Yeni Kuti has justified the design of the monument, saying it was the expression of how the artist felt about the late legend.

She said: ‘Before people on social media will start to say the Fela has no head or it has no hand and so on, it is art and before you abuse us, let me answer quickly. It is art. How an artist feels is how he feels because if he had put a head and the head did not look like Fela, everybody will say the head did not look like Fela so now you cannot abuse the head because it is not even there.’

The visual artist who designed the effigy, Abolore Sobayo said the work was an expression of how he feels about the late Afrobeat legend, saying that it was designed to generate discussion about the emancipation of the people. While justifying the fact that the art work had no head, Sobayo said the design came out of extensive research on what Fela represented through his music, and how to use same to correct some of the things he complained about years ago that are still happening.

‘For me as an artist, art transcends beyond beauty or aesthetics. For me, art should generate discuss; art should ask question and art should provoke our thoughts. For me, the creation of the Liberation Statue is to represent the essence of Fela by using his costume. For me, I believe that this should serve as a conscious to our subconscious that twenty years after Fela’s demise, most of the things he talked about are still happening. For me, this work should come to us not just as a beautiful work, but it should come to us as something that will ginger us to look at the positivity in our lives; positivity in the values of his music; for us to start to emancipate our people positively. Going forward, I have been able to use symbolism as a medium to represent Fela through his costume and to represent his essence,’ Sobayo said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 19TH OCTOBER.

Pastor Chri

TOPIC ✨ RIGHTEOUSNESS: DIVINITY MANIFESTED IN HUMANITY✨

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets (Romans 3:21).

Righteousness has been rightly described as right standing with God. But there’s another description; it’s the rightness of God at work in the human person—divinity manifested in humanity. Put more succinctly, righteousness is God’s life and love at work in you.

It’s a fact of the Gospel that the Father has given us His own righteousness; we can now stand in His presence without guilt, condemnation or inferiority. He’s given us His rightness, His ability to do right, so we can live in consonance with Him. We don’t have to struggle to please Him; it’s our life and nature now to live before Him in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24).

Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Now, we think, talk and act the same way. The Bible says, “…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17). Our right standing with God gives us the ability to reign as kings in this present world. We reign over demons, over this world and its systems.

Besides, not only did God make us righteous, He did something else which is so powerful and mind-blowing. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”*_ Jesus took our place of sin and made us His righteousness. We’re thus the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Amazing!

This means we’re now the unveiling of the Father’s righteousness; the manifestation and outworking of His righteousness. When you step into a matter, you’re not there to decide who is wrong and who is right; rather, you bring forth the judgments of God. You’re His righteousness manifested, and the unveiling of His glory. Blessed be God!

*CONFESSION*

Praise God forevermore! I’m the unveiling of the Father’s righteousness, the manifestation and outworking of His righteousness. His wisdom and sound judgment are heard and seen in me; I’m the effulgence of His glory. I reign and rule in life through His righteousness in my spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC* But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Romans 8:30* Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Romans 5:1 AMPC Therefore, since we are justified ( acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

It's destined to become one of the world's biggest transport hubs.

So it's perhaps not surprising that Chinese officials were keen to show-off the skeleton of Beijing's new mega-airport - Beijing Daxing International Airport this week.

Representatives unveiled the primary structure of its 80billion yuan (£9billion) project on Monday, which boasts 1.6million cubic metres of concrete, 52,000 tonnes of steel and spans 47 square kilometres (18 square miles), including runways.

Sports analyst Biola Kazeem has taken to Twitter to question the inability of TSTV Nigeria to commence operation 17 days after launch. He also slammed Nigerians on their gullibility and willingness to accept promises without questioning.

Satellite TV service provider, TSTV had earlier announced that its TSTV Africa will begin commercial operation on Nov. 1.
Tstv Managing Director, Mr Bright Echefu added that TSTV would launch its services with about one million decoders nationwide. And that at least 5,000 decoders TSTV would be released to the public weeks ago for free, with one month free subscription to test run its services.
There hasn’t been word out yet if the decoders were freely given out as promised.

  87-year-old Senator Cyrus-Nunieh-defends wedding

87-year-old second republic ex-lawmaker, Sen. Cyrus Nunieh, who went viral yesterday after his wedding pictures to his beautiful bride, Rosemary Ijeoma hit the net, has defended his wedding saying he decided to marry another wife because he was alone and needed a companion.

Sen. Cyrus Nunieh's wedding reception held at the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. His new wife, Mrs Rosemary Ijeoma is said to be in her 40s.

The former member of the National Assembly, who said he was now a king in Ogoniland, Rivers State, explained that he had been alone after his former wife died in 1991 and could no longer cope with loneliness as all his children are now adults with busy lives of their own.

Speaking with Punch on the telephone on Tuesday, Nunieh described his new wife, Rosemary, as an intelligent woman, who would always be there for him and share ideas with him.

“I cannot continue to stay alone. I love her and she loves me. We understand each other and she is also intelligent. In marriage, there are advantages somewhere and disadvantages in other areas.

“There is no limitation in age. Some may say you are old; you may soon die. But some were dead even before they were born. Some were one year or two years old and they die. Death is not always dependent upon a man’s age.

“You know that rose is the best of all flowers and we have two Marys in the Bible; we have Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

“She too (Rosemary) is a believer of the Bible. But why are you particular about her age? She is not an infant. She is a very charming woman.”

*THE ASCENSION AND HIS PROMISED RETURN .*

Wednesday, October 18th .
Pastor Chris

_*And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight (Acts 1:9).*_

The ascension of Jesus is one subject that the Church hasn’t emphasized enough around the world. We’ve talked a lot about His resurrection because it’s so important; in fact, the resurrection is the birth of Christianity. But His ascension is a most extraordinary thing that happened after His death. For the first time in human history, a man physically ascended into the presence of God, letting us know that there’s life beyond this earth realm.

He didn’t vanish or disappear. He levitated in his glorified physical body. Up until then, His maternal siblings didn’t quite believe in Him. They heard Him preach and saw the miracles He did, but one thing they couldn’t accept was the fact that He said, _*“I’m from above”*_ (John 8:23). “How could that be, when He’s lived here with us, under the same roof, these many years?” they must have wondered.

But His ascension changed everything! It left no room for speculation as to His whereabouts. His disciples, His mother and siblings were all there and watched Him as He levitated and left this world. Before their very eyes, Jesus went beyond the clouds. It then dawned on them that the man they grew up with was truly the Son of God. Hallelujah!

Acts 1:10-11 says, _*“…while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”*_ Yes, indeed, one day very soon, the last Church service would have held, and all that we’re doing today in preaching the Gospel will all be over: (Read 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

This is the hope of every Christian: our life with the Lord in eternity. The Bible says, _*“…every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure”*_ (1 John 3:3).

*PRAYER*

*Precious Lord Jesus, you left us with a promise that you’ll come back to take us to be with you in eternity. What a day of joy and rejoicing that will be! Thank you for such blessed hope and consolation; I’m overwhelmed with joy as I contemplate the bliss that shall be mine when I shall see you face to face. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *2 Timothy 4:8* Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. *||*

*||* *John 14:3* And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also. *||*

*||* *Acts 1:10-11 AMPC* And while they were gazing intently into heaven as He went, behold, two men [dressed] in white robes suddenly stood beside them, 11 Who said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in [just] the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven. *||*

Zimbabwean prophet who said President Mugabe will die today, says God has postponed
User Avatar Forum: Conflicts

Controversial prophet and leader of Remnant Pentecostal Church, Patrick Phillip Mugadza who said President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe will die today, October 17, 2017, has made a surprise u-turn.
Recall that in January, the prophet in a statement said that President will die on the 17th of October 2017. According to him, he said God told him on the 26th of December 2016, while he was praying that the 92-year-old president who has been ruling for over 30 years was not going to see the end of 2017.
The controversial prophet was subsequently arrested and jailed for 55 days for his prophecy. He later issued another statement telling the President that he misunderstood him as he said President Mugabe would only die if he doesn't turn to God.
His lawyer told the BBC that his client had initially been charged with undermining the authority of the president, then “criminal nuisance” and finally “insulting people of a certain race or religion”.
“He’s admitting to the facts. He says he didn’t lie – that’s a message from God. Police will have to prove God didn’t say it,” the lawyer said.
Now, the prophet has claimed he received a fresh message from God postponing President Mugabe’s death until a later unspecified date.
“About three days ago, I received word from God saying the death of President Mugabe has been postponed to a later date which is not specified,” Pastor Mugadza told Bulawayo 24.

PRESIDENT BUHARI LEAVES FOR TURKEY WEDNESDAY
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 10-17-2017, 09:27 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari is to depart for Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday, to participate in the ninth Summit of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8 ) slated for Oct. 20.
Buhari leaves for Turkey Wednesday
Members of D-8 are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Mr. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known to newsmen in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the statement, prior to the D-8 Summit, President Buhari, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, will participate in an official working visit to Ankara, the capital city.
While in Ankara, Adesina said, the President would have a discussion with his Turkish counterpart while delegations from both countries would hold discussions in various fields including defence cooperation, security, educational and migration issues.
“The Nigerian leader will also visit the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara where he will meet with the Speaker, Ismail Karamanlis,’’ the statement maintained.
Adesina revealed that President Buhari would use the occasion of the D-8 Summit to bolster warm and growing ties across a broad range of areas of cooperation with leaders of the D8-member countries.
The D8-member countries include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey.
The Summit with the theme, ‘‘Expanding Opportunities through Cooperation’’, will among other things, focus on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, trade, transport, energy and increased private sector participation among member-countries.
During the Summit, which will also mark the 20th anniversary of the organisation established to improve the developing countries’ positions in the world economy, the President would highlight the significant show of confidence in Nigeria’s business environment and economy.
The statement said President Buhari would also affirm Nigeria’s resolve to work with D-8 member-countries on many key areas, including peace and security, economy and trade.
At the end of the Summit, the Heads of State and Government will adopt a Communiqué, also known as the ‘Istanbul Declaration’.
It stated that President Buhari will be accompanied on the trip by ministers, top government officials, including the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Hameed Ali.
The objectives of D-8 are to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
D-8 is a global arrangement rather than a regional one, as the composition of its members reflects.
Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8 ) is a forum with no adverse impact on bilateral and multilateral commitments of the member countries, emanating from their membership to other international or regional organisations.

Breaking Leicester City Fires Coach, Craig Shakespeare After 4 Months In Charge
User Avatar Forum: Sports World

Leicester City have sacked manager Craig Shakespeare just four months after he signed a three-year deal to take the job on a permanent basis after Ranieri departed from the club.
The Foxes are third from bottom in the Premier League and have not won any of their past six league matches. Shakespeare, 53, succeeded title winner Claudio Ranieri in February, initially on a temporary basis.
After steering the Foxes away from trouble to finish in 12th place, he was given the job permanently in June. Shakespeare won eight of his 16 games in charge last season, and led the club to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Rumors has it that the 1-1 draw with West Brom on Monday prompted his departure. The last time Leicester went six league matches without a victory, Ranieri was sacked - nine months after leading them to the title.

  Clampdown intels stay clear politics

Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has asked the Federal Inland Revenue (FIRS) and other federal government agencies not to drag themselves into the politics of 2019 general election.

A statement he issued yesterday in Abuja in reaction to reports of sealing Integrated Logistic Services Nigeria Limited (Intels) office, a company in which the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has interests, by the FIRS, Frank said the action could be a ploy to weaken Atiku ahead of his perceived ambition for 2019.

“This is not the time to play politics with the issues of governance. Could it be another ploy to weaken Atiku ahead of his perceived ambition for 2019?” Frank asked.

While condemning the sealing of Intels by FIRS, Frank wondered why FIRS just realised the non-payment of tax by Intels and Export Free Zone also decided that Intels is operating illegally.
“It is pertinent to note that in the history since the establishment of Intels, no central government has ever brazenly persecuted Intels like this present government.

“The act of the FIRS, NPA, and FTZ as agencies of government is and can be seen to be a calculated attempt to humiliate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“How come FIRS just realised the non- payment of tax by Intels? The export free zone just realised that Intels is operating illegally. If the agencies just realised all these , it means they have shown total failure in discharging their duties,” he stated.

Frank said the government agencies should learn to follow due process in conduct their affairs.
He warned the government agencies to thread carefully, saying: “My thoughts are that some political leaders, who are afraid of his profile, are hell bent on truncating his perceived ambition.

The APC chieftain pleaded to the presidency to promptly intervene before it gets out of hands.

According to him, “I want to believe that the presidency is not aware of this over bearing and over zealousness on the part of these government agencies. By this, I plead with the presidency to promptly intervene on this matter appropriately in due course before it gets late.
“The good news is that no matter what these agencies of government do, the prerogative and his decision to run for presidency come 2019 is his fundamental right and rightly so if he so desires.
“Nigeria, as it is today, has a lot going on and this latest brazen acts by government agencies is the least on the minds of Nigerians.

“We encourage government agencies to do their work but also take note that governance should not be reduced as a tool to witch hunting individuals and by playing petty politics.
“I see this as an intimidation coming from agencies of government of the day on an innocent Nigerian. We must not be cowed by these agencies of government which want to turn themselves to political actors to gain favour from the government of the day.”

The APC scribe urged Nigerians to rise up against any attempt to vilify any individual in the guise of over zealousness of government agencies.

“Today is Atiku, tomorrow it can be any other person, and for this purpose, we must all stand against this impunity. Let’s all thread carefully as we strive for a better country and democracy.”

ISIS threatens to attack the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia

ISIS propaganda chiefs have threatened to carry out a terror attack at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The terrorist group published an image of an ISIS fighter carrying a rifle and a bomb while standing in front of a football stadium. The official symbol of the 2018 World Cup finals is also included in the photo which is interpreted as an alarming promise to bring mayhem to the tournament.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be played across 11 cities in Russia from 14 June to 15 July, when the final will be played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Tens of thousands of England fans are expected to base themselves in St Petersburg for the month-long finals. St Petersburg, Russia's second largest city, was the scene of a horrific ISIS attack when a briefcase bomb detonated on the underground in April, killing 14 people. The blast was in retaliation for Russia's airstrikes in Syria that have helped bring the regime to its knees.
Last week ISIS released another propaganda image featuring bullet-ridden photos of President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, while inviting its followers to stage more attacks on the group's two leading foes abroad.
The image was shared throughout pro-ISIS channels on the encrypted messaging application Telegram and attributed to Al-Wafaa Media Foundation. It featured an excerpt of a Quranic verse manipulated by the ISIS followers to urge fellow jihadis to take every opportunity to conduct deadly attacks in the U.S. and Russia. Despite the jihadis suffering severe territorial losses to military campaigns sponsored by Moscow and Washington, the image also claimed that ISIS would overcome its enemies on the battlefield.
The text beneath photos of Trump and Putin pasted to gun target practice sheets reads: "Lie in wait for them at every chance to ambush. The Levant is the graveyard of the Russians and Americans."

  27 plateau victims given mass

President condemns incident, orders security forces to arrest situation

Seriki Adinoyi in Jos

It was another moment of grief Monday morning in Nkiedonwhro village, Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State when at least 27 people were massacred in their sleep by gunmen suspected to be cattle herders.
The latest is about the third in the wave of attacks on the local government area since the state government imposed an indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew on the local government council last Friday.

By Monday evening, the remains of the 27 victims of the attacks had been given a mass burial amidst wailing and outpouring of emotions in the village.
The incident followed a similar deadly attack in the same local government area on Saturday, leading to the deaths of six persons.

Confirming Monday’s incident, the National President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Mr. Sunday Abdu, indicted the soldiers attached to the Special Task Force (STF), saying the soldiers had gathered the villagers for the suspected herdsmen to kill.

He said the soldiers had gathered the victims in a primary school in the village to protect them from incessant attacks in the area, adding that while the soldiers occupied one classroom that they use as their operational base, the women and children occupied the next classroom.
“How then did the attackers come and kill the women and children without the soldiers knowing. It is either that the soldiers are conniving with the attackers to annihilate our people or they ran away and left our people to their fate.

“It is even more worrisome that the same local government is under a curfew imposed on it by the state government,” Abdu said.
Reacting to latest attack Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari said he received with deep sadness and regret, news of the killings which have been described as a reprisal perpetrated by suspected herdsmen.

Buhari, in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said: “This madness has gone too far.”
Shehu said the president instructed the military and the police to not only bring the violence to an instant end, but to draw up a plan to ensure that there are no further attacks and reprisals by one group against the other.

“President Buhari is devoted to the sanctity of Nigeria’s unity and he encourages Nigerians of all groups to learn to live together in peace and harmony,” Shehu said.
The president’s spokesman added that the president commiserated with the governor and people of Plateau State, and with those who lost their loved ones, friends and family.
“May God comfort them as only He can,” Buhari was quoted to have said.

Also reacting to the attack, the senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Jonah David Jang, said he was sad to hear about the “incessant violent killings going on in Bassa allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen who have become the usual suspects in this kind of coordinated attacks in the state and others in the Middle-Belt”.

“The attack on Taagbe village, the failed attack on Nzoruvho village on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, and the most recent one on Nkiedonwhro in the early hours of yesterday (Monday), where more than 20 persons were alleged to have been killed, are condemnable no matter the justification.
“Notably, these attacks prove that the method of response adopted by the Plateau State governor is not working especially considering the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on Bassa Local Government Area on Friday.

“There is therefore the need for the state government to critically reconsider its strategy for the good of our people,” Jang, who is the immediate past governor of the state, said.
A former Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr. Yakubu Dati, added that the attack was condemnable, considering that the state governor had taken several measures, including the establishment of the Plateau Peace Agency and deployment of resources to assist the security agents to carry out their duties effectively.
“We can only call on the state government to reinvigorate the process that is already on ground,” he said.

Also commenting on the massacre, the member representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency, Mr. Suleiman Kwande, called on the federal government to investigate the killings in the primary school while under the watch of the security operatives.
Kwande described the attack as unfortunate, particularly now that peace has returned to the state after decades of violence.

“The new spate of killings of innocent people in Bassa Local Government Area in recent times is very unfortunate and disheartening. The natives of the locality in the last few weeks have suffered unprovoked attacks that resulted in the killing of innocent people.
“I call on the federal government to set up a committee to investigate the fresh killings of innocent persons, including children, women, men and the aged in a primary school where they were taking refuge,” he said.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tyopev Terna, said he could not comment on the attack, as he had not been briefed by his Divisional Police Officer in Bassa.
But the Director General of Plateau Peace Agency, Mr. Joseph Lengman, said the state government was slated to hold a security meeting Monday and would make its stance known after the meeting.
When contacted, the military Special Task Force (STF), codenamed Operation Safe Haven, said it would investigate the involvement of soldiers on duty at the Nkiedonwhro when the villagers were attacked.

The commander of the task force, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, who revealed this when he went for on-the-spot assessment of the school, said the soldiers were sent to the headquarters of the task force for proper investigation on how the attack took place in the village under their watch, especially since a curfew was imposed on the village and there was supposed to be restriction on movement.

Meanwhile, after the mass burial for the victims, the villagers called on the state government to vacate the curfew, as it was needless and had failed to serve its purpose.
They also demanded to know how the attackers found their way from the mountains to the village when there was a curfew and movement restriction.
THISDAY gathered that Governor Simon Lalong is slated to visit the area Tuesday to commiserate with the people.
