Cardinal Okogie To Buhari: "You Must Be A Joker For Thinking Of 2019 Now"
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 07:27 PM - No Replies

Okojie is quite upset about campaigns for a 2019 when so many things are falling apart in Nigeria

Quote:Okogie: Buhari for second term? He should respect himself and retire

Olubunmi Okogie, archbishop emeritus of the Catholic archdiocese of Lagos, says President Muhammadu Buhari should respect himself and retire quietly.

Although Buhari has not spoken publicly about his decision on the next election, there are indications that the president intends to stay in office beyond 2019.

On Wednesday Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications, said the campaign for the re-election of Buhari had commenced.

He also disclosed that the south-west campaign offices would be inaugurated on January 20.

Shittu spoke after meeting with the president.

There are reports that Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, has been appointed as the director-general of Buhari campaign.

Speaking with New Telegraph, Okogie it is an insult to Nigerians for the president to be talking about 2019 election.

The archbishop advised Buhari to be thinking of finding solutions to the problems confronting Nigerians.

“What has he done in the years he had been in the saddle? He has performed woefully; that’s the verdict of Nigerians,” Okogie said.

“Let the president respect himself and retire quietly. Coming out to talk of 2019 is insulting not only to those who voted him to power but to all Nigerians.

“There are so many problems confronting the people and he should be thinking of what to do about them. For second term, he must be a joker.

“That is all I can say for now because I don’t want to dignify them with a lengthy statement. It is not worth it.”

Dele Momodu's Open Letter To President Buhari: Please, Don't Run For 2nd Tenure
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 07:21 PM - No Replies

Pls read! Powerful letter from Dele momodu to clueless Pmb.

DELE MOMODU WRITES ANOTHER OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUHARI

'PLEASE, I BEG YOU...DON'T RUN FOR A SECOND TERM. GO HOME WITH YOUR HONOUR INTACT'

*'THOSE POLITICIANS ASKING YOU TO RUN AGAIN ARE DOING SO FOR SELFISH INTERESTS'

Quote:'...Kindly permit me to be as brutally frank as possible. As a stakeholder who made his modest contribution to your emergence as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I owe you nothing but the truth. I was not a member of your party when I volunteered to support your mission and ambition in 2015. I was elated when Nigerians succeeded in chasing away the profligate and reckless government of the PDP, led by President Goodluck Jonathan. I was one of those who unleashed terror on that government and I subsequently presented you with a compilation of my articles in which I criticised and advised the then President, free of charge. I never expected that our situation could ever get worse under the APC government that almost literally promised heaven and earth. But it has become evident that it is easier to govern by words of mouth than by force of action.

It is indeed shameful that those like me who supported you so vociferously have become butts of jokes everywhere we go. Sir, I plead with you to ignore your acolytes who may be telling you that all is well in Nigeria. My unequivocal verdict, without any fear of contradiction is that things are very bad. While I will not, in all honesty, totally heap the blame on you, there is no doubt that your government has been less than competent. I’m reasonably convinced that you have not availed yourself of the abundant talents it has so pleased God to endow Nigeria with. Rather, you’ve chosen to saddle yourself with hungry lions and deadwoods that you’ve resurrected from penury and oblivion. Leadership should be about managing people and resources. Most of the people you are working with are already retired or tired and with little or nothing new to contribute.

It is grossly unfair that it was very convenient for us to lampoon and scandalise Dr Goodluck Jonathan, yet most of us have remained funereally silent and unreasonably complicit in the evil that the current men of power are perpetrating and perpetuating under your watch. Unknown to you Sir, some people are merely using you to rule by proxy. There is no evidence of discipline in your team, one of the greatest things you preached so fervently about in your first coming as military Head of State. Your acolytes are virtually getting away with murder. Someone, somewhere, sat down with birds of the same feathers, to conjure and compile the most disgraceful list of political appointees ever and yet nothing has happened to those who brought such perfidious insults on our nation. Instead, we are being regaled with tales by the moonlight to gloss over serious maladies in the polity and damning treachery against our nation. No serious apologies. No penitence. Only some foolhardy cockiness from those who will repeat the same nonsense when tomorrow comes.

Your Excellency, it has become very difficult, if not impossible to defend the excessive shortcomings of your government, please, permit my oxymoron Sir. We definitely want you to succeed but it seems some demons are desperately determined to make you fail by all means. The more your administration unravels, the more ridiculously hopeless it seems. You have waltzed from crisis to crisis instead of from glory to glory, as most of us expected. We thought you truly possessed the magic wand and talismanic effect to make all our problems evaporate and vamoose in a jiffy. We did not expect to be regularly mesmerised by impotent excuses galore.

I sincerely doff my hat to your wonderful wife for her rare and uncommon courage. Regardless of what her detractors may say, she is the only insider who has been trying to say it as it is. Even if some of her critics feel she’s seeking for relevance in your kingdom, it is still within her rights. I’m sure that when the day of reckoning comes, you will remember and appreciate her timely warnings. Without mincing words, what Madam Aisha Buhari has been trying to tell you in clear terms is that this government is swimming in a big foul mess and that you should not be carried away by the fake adulation and false adoration you see all around you. There is no government in Nigeria that did not enjoy the services of praise-singers who disappeared as soon as the government itself collapsed like a pack of cards. Ask President Jonathan!

I’m aware that your foot-soldiers are already warming up for the next election. I really do not know what they hope to tell and sell to the electorate this time, particularly after the colossal failure of the last three years. I do not see how they expect to fund your campaign without resorting to the same type of extravagant jamboree we witnessed in the dying and last days of the PDP’s prodigality. As a result of your decision to contest again, you are being forced by circumstances beyond your control to compromise and capitulate on your known principles. Is it not better, and more profitable, to return home, triumphantly, with your reputation intact than to win a pyrrhic victory with everything you ever stood for wasted on the altar of vainglorious aggrandisement? What guarantees do you have that you will win the next election even if you agree to sell Nigeria to the political gladiators?

Sir, I’m pleading with you in the name of God, the Merciful and all-powerful, that you don’t need two terms, or eight years in power, to prove your greatness. Nelson Mandela spent only one term in power and retired to superlative glory as the world’s most respected and revered and idolised statesman. Robert Mugabe spent about four decades in power, yet he returned home in total infamy and unenviable disgrace. It is a lesson of life that we must all learn, sooner rather than later, that man shall not live by power alone. I know my preaching is not likely to touch you and your hardened supporters but, at the very least, I want it to be on record that I spoke publicly, out of genuine love and concern, while you were being goaded on by those who stand to gain more if you win a re-election next year. For most of those asking you to continue, by fire and by force, it is always about their personal agenda and survival. They know their political careers would come to a shuddering halt and abrupt standstill should you fail in your bid to come back. In their desperation to come back at all costs, they are going to do exactly what PDP did, or even much worse. What moral authority would you then have to justify the continued detention and harassment of some of the PDP operatives accused of wasting government resources on Jonathan’s truncated re-election bid. Who amongst us can in good conscience say in the market place that you won the last election on pure merit and that no substantial government funding went into your campaigns.

This year promises to be an interesting one. You will soon discover how treacherous human beings can be when some of those hailing you today as the authentic messiah begin to show you their true colours. Our country is bleeding dangerously while some over-pampered politicians can only think of winning elections by hook or by crook. The quality of your appointees in recent time points to how directionless your government has finally become. In a country overflowing with so many amazing brains and talents, it is incredibly shameful that those are your best representatives for our country. The easiest way for a leader to fail is to continue to attract those much worse than himself. Conversely, the best way to succeed is for a leader to recognise and attract and surround himself with those much better in all aspects of human endeavour. This does not erase or take anything away from the leader but it actually enhances his personality and how he is perceived by everyone. The late sage of blessed memory, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was a veritable example of how a leader can effectively tap into the collective brains of some geniuses and add to his own in a way that makes him appear super-human.

Nigeria has never been in short supply of whiz kids at home and abroad but Nigeria started dying when our leaders stopped respecting merit and preferred to enthrone mediocrity. The truth is mediocrity begets further mediocrity. The few good leaders in your government have not been able to display their wizardry out of fear and trepidation that some cabal would mark them out and hack them down so ruthlessly. It is a sign of the times, that the courage, astuteness and brilliance that made them stand out in the political crowd has suddenly taken flight and they are now little more than wimps in your insipid government. The bureaucracy in Abuja is enough to suffocate and disorientate any fertile mind.

If I were in your shoes, I would consider that it is not too late to groom and propel some of the best brains in APC or even those living beyond the shores of Nigeria to succeed me. You do not need to look far in this regard but I will not make any suggestions today, lest it be misinterpreted that I am touting any particular individual as a worthy successor. I’m reasonably convinced that you have worked very hard and seem to have reached your peak. To God be the glory. In a country of nearly 200 million people, God has been too kind to you. Apart from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, no other Nigerian has been given a second chance so miraculously. You will be able to justify this unmerited favour by leaving Nigeria much better than you met it. The only way you can do that in the next remaining year is to sacrifice your own personal ambition and hand over the country to proven and tested modern and cosmopolitan technocrats. The world has moved beyond the backwardness that we are being saddled with in Nigeria today. The world expect us to be the true giant and leader of Africa not by words but in deed.

My appeal to you is to urgently do a self-assessment to determine and decide on whether you are what Nigeria needs at this time and age for our country to join the comity of other nations in their march towards technological advancement, political stability, social security and economic prosperity.

With all due respect, Sir, if your answer is yes to the above, you may go ahead and contest but if in all honesty, the answer is no, my prayer is that you will find the courage and selfless spirit to quit the stage while the ovation is loudest. That in itself would be a deserving legacy. I’m watching and waiting for your patriotic decision with bated breath.

Thank you, Mr President, for your usual attention and kind consideration of my latest memo to you, albeit so early in the year.'

Profitability Of Pig Farming In Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Agriculture/Food Processing
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 01:26 PM - No Replies

PIG FARMING AS A LUCRATIVE BUSINESS IN NIGERIA
Pigs are kept in almost all the farms in Nigeria. It is still common to find pigs roaming freely around communities in rural areas of southern Nigeria than in the Northern parts due to religious taboo associated with pig farming. However, pig farming enterprises are also found in and around towns and cities in many areas of Nigeria, and stands a good lucrative source of income when properly managed like every other farming business.
Good pig farming in Nigeria relies on a combination of inter connected aspects such as housing, breeding and reproduction, nutrition, disease prevention & control and management; which are incorporated into intensive system of pig keeping to achieved a desirable and sustainable production. However, a blend of technical know how to make the right decisions at the right time, capital to provide improved building, feed and drugs, marketing viability to ensure that the animals have to be brought to the market when they have reached the desired weight and with optimum strategy for buying and selling of inputs (drugs, feed, farm facilities & equipment) and output (pork) with dependable sales outlet are key to sustainable income flow from pig farming.
PROFITABILITY OF PIG FARMING IN NIGERIA
NOTE: this is mainly for pig fattening aspect of pig farming.
A simple way to judge whether pig farming is profitable is by comparing the pork price (pig meat) and cost of production.
Assumptions (NB; Based on the available contemporary experience on pig farming)
• Average daily weight gain of 0.4kg
• Average daily feed consumption of 1.64kg from weaner to finisher of (50kg live weight in this case)
• Target live weight of 50kg
• Resultant pork from pig as 80% of its market weight
• Average feed price per kg of diet= #150
• Selling price per kg of pork= #1100
• Other costs(drugs and vaccine) = #1500
Hence,
• The pig would require 50÷0.4= 125 days to reach the target market weight of 50kg
• Total feed consumed throughout growth (125×1.64) = 205kg
• Total cost of feed consumed (205×150)= #30,750
Therefore Total cost of production = total cost of feed + other cost
= 30,750 + 1500
= #32,250
• Resultant pork = 80% of 50kg
= 35kg
• Cost price per kg of pork = 32,250÷ 35
= #806.25
• Selling price of pork per kg = #1,100
• Profit per kg of pork = selling price of pork per kg – cost price per kg of pork
= 1100 – 806.25
= #293.75
Therefore, you make #293.75 for every kg of pork meat!!
HOW CAN MORE PROFIT BE MADE?
While the above illustrations were ensured to be real as obtainable in pig farming. More profit can be made in the following ways:
• Ensuring improved housing to provide convenience to pigs to facilitate better growth.
• Employing good breeding practice by avoiding in breeding and ensuring selection of best animals in the herd for breeding
• Provision of good and well balance feed to your stock to ensure availability of nutrients for fast growth.
• Ensure a good disease control measure, to reduce cost through reduced medication (drugs) and to facilitate the animal’s utilization of nutrients for growth.
• Push to expand production, so as to enjoy more flexibility with economics of scale for production at lesser cost.

Why FG Is Delaying In Hiking Fuel Price – Reno Omokri
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 11:13 AM - No Replies

RENO Omokri, an ex-presidential aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, has revealed why the Federal government is delaying in hiking of fuel price.
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo had stated two years ago that the best thing that could happen to the nation was the bold step taken by the President Muhammadu Buhari to remove subsidy from the product.
He was later quoted to have said that the NNPC and not the Federal Government pays for the fuel subsidy that has emerged with the N171 landing cost as against the official retail price of N145.
The NNPC is a subsidiary under the federal government and the President is the incumbent minister of petroleum.
Omokri said the only reason the government is delaying is because of the shame that will accompany the pronouncement that it has been paying for the same fuel subsidy it criticised under his former boss, Goodluck Jonathan.
He reacted through his Twitter handle @renoomokri.
“The Buhari administration is going to increase fuel price sooner than later. Mark my words. The only reason for the delay is that they are ashamed to tell Nigerians that they have been paying the same subsidy they claimed was a scam under Jonathan but can no longer afford to pay.”

Buhari Has Run Out Of Ideas, Even Bad Ones - Junaid Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 11:08 AM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari, in his New Year message, put the blame of the ongoing acute fuel scarcity on some saboteurs. What is your take on this?
I think it was too cheap. He is the president of this country; he has more power than any individual, in or out of government. He is, in addition to being the president, also the Minister of Petroleum and he has all the responsibilities on all matters of oil. Part of the campaign rhetoric when he was running for the presidency was that, first, he was going to make the problem of fuel shortage a thing of the past. He was a minister before and it was felt that he handled the ministry very well. He was a minister before, now a minister and also the president of this country. If he didn’t know that there are saboteurs in the oil industry; if you don’t know that a lot of the crises in the oil industry are man-made and are not inevitable, then it is too bad. Frankly speaking, I think he has lost the right to be a minister. Secondly, all that we have been told about his competencies is nothing but lies. I do not want to take up issues with him or anybody because he has been a minister now since 2015. He must carry the blame and he must stop passing the buck. He should carry his responsibilities.
The first thing he should have done is to apologise to the people of this country. Secondly, after the apology, he should tell us what is the way out because we are sick and tired of this crisis, especially around Christmas and public holidays. Now that he has agreed that there are saboteurs, what does he plan to do to them? If they are going to be punished, how is he going to punish them? Is he going to punish them within the rule of law or is he going to go out and do what he did during his first term as the military Head of State by taking unilateral and arbitrary decision by appointing special tribunals and sentencing people to 60 years, 100 years or 120 years imprisonment? Whichever way you look at it, he has bungled the whole thing; he has messed up the economy of the country and he has run out of ideas, even bad ideas.
He said there is nothing wrong with the Nigerian structure as it is, but the process. What is your take on the president’s position as related to the issue of restructuring?
First and foremost, I think he is being disingenuous. He is not telling us what exactly is his mind and in this kind of situation, whoever is the president or head of government must come clean and tell Nigerians what is on his mind. You don’t have to be 100 per cent correct or 100 per cent wrong, but let us know what is in your mind. I am not one of those people who are blindly supporting this so-called restructuring; in fact, I don’t believe in it. Most of the agitations are based on falsehood.
First and foremost, we should implement the proceedings of the 2014 National Conference. I was there, I represented my own state, Kano, which is one of the biggest states in the country. Let me tell you this: what is being said now on the pages of the newspapers and the social media has no bearing with the reality of what happened at the conference. None of the things which are now being bandied about was even discussed at the conference, not to talk of being adopted. The entire National Conference itself was an act of illegality. They should go to the Nigerian Constitution and tell us where a provision was made for Sovereign National Conference. You cannot amend the documents of a country by venturing into illegality.
As far as I am concerned, whatever is the attitude of President Buhari to the National Conference, he should be truthful and come out clean and clear about whatever he has in mind because it is never a crime to make public his stand on the issue. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo publicly made it clear his stand about a National Conference. There were also quite a number of some other prominent Nigerians who made their position known. What Buhari does not have the right to do, however, is to attempt to mislead Nigeria the way the protagonists of the National Conference are trying to do. That is, coming out to bandy some foreign words that do not have any meaning. He said there is nothing wrong with the Nigerian structure; may be to him, there is nothing wrong with it. But to me, he has no right to come and cause confusion by what he called process.
If he is talking about process and those who are engaging in the national conference did not tell us precisely what they need, over the years they have engaged in waste of time. It was only about two or three months that I started seeing some people telling us that what we need is to go back to the constitutions of 1960 and 1963. Okay, I have no problem with that, but it has to be handled democratically and in an open manner. When they said we should go back to the 1960 and 1963 constitutions, they are telling us that we should go back to the Parliamentary Constitution; they don’t want the presidential system again. Why can’t they come out cleaner to say, ‘we don’t want the presidential system; we want the parliamentary system again’? That is more honest, that is more honourable.
Now that the president is talking about the so-called process, he has not told us what he meant by process. What kind of process: political, legal, constitutional? What does he mean by that? As far I am concerned, it is a very dangerous thing when leaders who are wielding supreme authority for a country are attempting to mislead the people of this country. If you try to mislead somebody, it means you don’t respect him. The attempt by the leaders to mislead us showed that they don’t respect us and they have no right, having gotten the mandate of the Nigerian people, to govern.
So, both sides are just wasting our time. There are very serious issues confronting Nigeria that they should handle. There are more economic, political and security issues, including the Boko Haram insurgency which they claimed had been technically defeated…
But Mr President, in his message, said the group had been beaten…
On the day he spoke that Boko Haram had been beaten, the leader of the group, Shekau, came out on the social media, claiming responsibility for the deadly spate of attacks on many parts of the country. So, I don’t know who is fooling who, but those who are suffering and are being killed daily know that Boko Haram is alive. The man who is supposed to be the Commander-In-Chief is claiming that Boko Haram had been defeated, but who are the people killing people in the North East? Are they ghosts or are they people? Have we gone to investigate thoroughly the underlying socio-economic issues which brought about the Boko Haram phenomenon? This is because, if he believes he has the security of the people in mind, then he should go round and do his homework and make sure that he handles and deals with the underlying problems. But he has not done anything. I never believe that Boko Haram was destroyed; they are very much alive and the problem has increased within the last two months of last year and the first week of this year. So, what is the president talking about?
He also said no human law is perfect and therefore there is a need for periodic structural development, in line with the changing circumstances and the country’s socio-economic development. Can you fault the president’s position?
If you analyse what they wrote for him in that sentence, you can see that it is absolute rubbish; he didn’t say anything. I don’t know how that sentence can be interpreted into the type of English Language that I understand. Honestly, forget about it. And that really is a tragedy because, if you are empty, even if good speech writers put up something together for you, at the end of the day, you will still be empty. This is because the emptiness is reflected, not in the speech you read, but in you. Can we look at that sentence and think it will be good for policy formulation? No, it will not. It says nothing, as far as I am concerned and let me tell you, I challenge the speech writers of those in government, the members of the cabals in the government who are around him on a daily basis, to come and tell us, arising from that buffoonery of language, what they want to do, in concrete terms, not in showering useless languages.
He accused Nigerians of not being patient enough that we want an improved condition without considering the available resources and the capabilities that we have…
Well, I agree with him, but then no people who are suffering can be patient. Nigerians are impatient, yes, I agree, giving my little experience in public life. But then, these are people who are suffering. You cannot tell a man who is hungry, poor, wretched and insecure in his surroundings to be patient. You cannot be patient if you are suffering. So, the president has to come, with the available resources and Nigerians also have plans to be patient, but you don’t tell people who are suffering that they are impatient. That is not true and that is not realistic.
Let me tell you this, Nigerians have been more than patient, but unfortunately, their patience has not paid off. If they insist that they don’t want to suffer, they are right. As far as I am concerned, there is no problem with that. But my concern is that what is the leadership doing? What are the people you put in government doing? Most of them he does not know and most of them, they don’t know what we are talking about. Most of them have scandals. What is he going to do about them? He has been asked several times to reshuffle his cabinet, but what has he done? He said he was going to appoint boards of federal parastatals since 2015, but they released the list of the appointments and you don’t know that some of them have died. It took him two years to compile the list and you don’t know that some of them have died. Are you telling me that one of them, somebody who rose to the level of a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) died without anybody knowing about it? In fact, some people will die and you will see the number of condolences and even delegations from the Presidency. But President Buhari is telling us that he didn’t know that some people died. Who is fooling whom?
He acknowledged the high cost of governance and public services and said this should be looked into, to avoid extravagance, waste and corruption in the system. Are you on the same page with him on this?
I think that is a very honest and very sincere observation and I think we must do something about it, but the opportunity for him to do that is gone. If he had wanted to do something about it and if it was something that his administration was keen about, he should have attempted to get the control of his party and the government machinery itself and make sure that he has cowed the National Assembly and from there, the state Houses of Assembly and the local government will also take it too. But let me tell you this: there is nothing he can do now because he has left the course out of the vanguard because it shows from the fact that in his government, members of the National Assembly could challenge him and get away with it.
And the man is not helping the situation. In his inaugural speech, he said he was for nobody and he was not against anybody. These are kind of empty nonsense to clearly prove that this man does not know what competitive representation and democracy demand. You cannot say everybody is your friend and you don’t have enemy or that you are opposed to nobody and therefore nobody should oppose you. In fact, he has been trying ever since to get away and put a very long distance between him and his political party. But it was the party that put him in office; it was the party that gave him the platform to contest for an election and he won. But if he now wants to deny the party after he had gotten into government, it shows that there is gross ignorance or lack of sincerity because you cannot pretend in our system that you win an election outside the party. Nobody wins election outside of the party because you don’t even have the room to contest election without a party. I mean you said you are for everybody and for nobody, but in life there will be some members of your family who will agree with you and some others will not agree with you. So, you don’t simply waive fundamental differences by pretending that everybody is your own. At the end of the day, those who are not your own will not be your own. I don’t know how many people have changed their views about Buhari on the strength of that statement, but since then, he has incapacitated the party; today, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as machinery, is a joke. Governors are holding the party by throwing money around, but at the national level, the party is a joke.
The solution to the high cost of governance is to make sure those salaries, allowances and the complete package of remuneration is controlled from the centre. If the states are to be given the opportunity to make their own appointments, there should be a limit. I am not a fan of military rule, but I think the military regime is better than the civilian government because the latter allows people to, one, decree whatever amount for themselves, sane or sensible, as their salary and to decree for themselves all manners of stupid allowances and to decree for themselves that these monies should be on the First Charge on the Consolidated Revenue Fund, whether money is there or not. In my view, that is a very dangerous thing. That is the beginning of the mental mindset which the members of the National Assembly have that they can do whatever they like. But they must be accountable to somebody. As things are now, these people are accountable to nobody and they didn’t care about economic cost of governance. So, why is the president just remembering this now?
We are trying to manage the cost of governance, they are just trying to increase the number of wishful ideas and put it in his speech. A national speech of this nature is supposed to give us a sense of nobility and a sense of national pride. You infuse in Nigerians the need for sacrifice, the need to advance the country and, of course, to itemise the goals of Nigeria within the year or within the next few months of the last lap of the government. Clearly, he wanted that New Year message to be used as propaganda; he has already started his second term campaign and rolled out projects that do not exist on the ground. I can tell you about those projects that he said are in existence or have been approved; I know that almost all the projects do not exist in the North, not even on paper. I follow the road from here to Kaduna and Abuja and I know how many times I lost. I know that most of the projects he is claiming cannot be done and the whole idea of linking every state capital with rail lines is nonsensical. I don’t know their definition of development. What are the elements of development?
So what he did was a campaign issue and not an issue of national address and that is why he is getting so many knocks from so many because, quite frankly speaking, Nigerians are tired. So what are we talking about? This is a very insincere, very sinister and very shameless tactic and you see that it fell flat on its face.
The president also insisted that his administration is always receptive to ideas that can improve governance and ensure peace and stability.
I don’t believe him one bit. I think he is just being economical with the truth. This is the least receptive administration we have had in the life of this country, both civilian and military. It is not receptive because he himself has demonstrated by his own personal examples his contempt for those who elected him and his contempt for the country and its institutions which have already been weakened before he came to power. So telling us now that his administration is a listening government how is that? What areas of his government are dedicated to listening to people? The National Assembly has gone rogue; the political leadership is wayward; his own party is being humiliated on a daily basis, a ruling party that cannot afford the finances to hold a non-elective national convention, having consulted for about three or four times publicly. So, what are we talking about? He should first listen to people around him who are empty or the party which put him in power but which is now non-existent. So, where do we stand? This is not a listening or receptive government at all

"Atiku Is The Chief Financier Of Fulani Herdsmen" - Paul Unongo, NEF Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 11:03 AM - No Replies

The Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Paul Unongo, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of being the chief financier and most influential member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, the apex body of Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria.
He, therefore, called on Atiku, who is a prince of the Tiv Court, to caution the herdsmen, who have been slaughtering hundreds of people in the country.
Unongo said this during an interview with one of our correspondents on Friday.
The NEF Chairman said, “I am aware that the most powerful person in Miyetti Allah is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who wants to be the next president. If they are fighting for power and Atiku wants to create problems for Buhari, I don’t know. There are so many possibilities.
“The most powerful person who finances the Miyetti Allah is Abubakar Atiku and he is a prince of the Tiv Court. The Tiv gave him a traditional title, meaning ‘the biggest shade of the Tiv people’.
“This implies that the Tiv people should be able to run to Atiku who will protect them.
This is the man who heads Miyetti Allah and is the greatest financier of this organisation.
He has more cattle than anybody in Miyetti Allah.
“It is an establishment of the big people, a very rich group of Nigerians and they pack small boys to take their cattle all over the place and then buy all these arms to give herdsmen to go and kill people, and the government is doing nothing!”
When asked if he was sure that Atiku was the most influential member of the Miyetti Allah, Unongo said the former Vice President told him personally that he was an influential member of the association.
He added, “I know, I got my facts partially from him regarding Miyetti Allah when I used to talk to him.”
When our correspondent asked Unongo if he had met with the former Vice President recently over the issue, the NEF boss said it was very difficult to see him.
He said, “Have you tried to see a ‘big man’ before? I don’t like to wait at people’s doors. If you’re in government, yes, but when you’re not in government, it shouldn’t be so hard to see you.
Atiku is my younger brother and he should come to me.
“Anytime you go to his place, the people around him think you are there to collect money that they are sharing. So, I decided that I would not disgrace the NEF. I am not belittling him, but he is no longer in power and I deserve some respect.”
Unongo also berated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for treating the Fulani herdsmen crisis with kid gloves.
He said he had been warning the President for nearly three years about the crisis but that the President’s “insensitive” advisers had been deceiving him into thinking the matter was a small one.
The NEF chairman said that many of the President’s aides had been preventing him from seeing the President and telling him the truth about the issue.
Unongo, who is both Tiv and Fulani, said, “The President is not happy about what is happening, but his insensitive advisers have deceived him into thinking this is not a serious issue, which they keep saying they can handle, but it has now festered to a level where it is difficult to take care of.”
The NEF chairman said it was unfortunate that despite the several threats made by the Fulani herdsmen after the antiopen grazing law came into effect, the government failed to take action.
He said, “Miyetti Allah threatened and said upon the implementation of the law, they would attack in January violently and force the withdrawal of the law. I don’t understand. It didn’t make sense at the time, but it means that perhaps the Miyetti Allah wanted to prove to the people and the government of Benue State that when they make a promise, they keep to it.”
Benue and Ekiti states had both enacted anti-open grazing laws to check the activities of herdsmen, while Ondo, Cross River, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom states have also moved to have anti-open grazing laws to check the activities of the nomadic pastoralists.
However, the former Vice President said that although he is a Fulani, he was not a member of the Miyetti Allah.
Atiku stated this in his reaction to the allegations levelled against him by Unongo.

Tinubu To Atiku: Why I Can't Support Your 2019 Presidential Ambition
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 11:00 AM - No Replies

AMID subtle moves by power brokers ahead of the 2019 general elections, facts have emerged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may have lost some of his age-long political allies in his quest to contest the next presidential election.
Prominent among them is the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who has not only been Atiku’s political ally but a long time business partner. During the 2007 general elections when Atiku was denied the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it was Tinubu who provided the former vice president the platform of the Action Congress(AC) and both of them remained together until 2014 when the Waziri Adamawa contested for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress(APC), which he lost to the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.
A very close associate of the former Lagos governor and who is also a leader of the APC told Saturday Sun on condition of anonymity that Tinubu opted to support Buhari as against Atiku because he believes strongly that Atiku would not honour a single term agreement if allowed to take a shot at the presidency.
He said Buhari would be finishing his second term in 2023, thus putting the South West and possibly Tinubu in a good stead to vie for the presidency. The source said that Tinubu believes that if he is not going to contest in 2023, rallying the South West to sup- port Buhari now would put the zone in a van- tage position to get the support of the North at the expiration of the Buhari presidency.
He observed that beyond politics, there had been a cold relationship in recent time between Tinubu and Atiku because their stakes in the oil giant, Oando have really been battered by the dwindling economic fortunes of the company.
Beside, Tinubu, it was gathered that most PDP governors are not particularly comfortable with Atiku because they believe that he belongs to Buhari’s age bracket, which they intend to make a campaign issue in 2019.
As a result, the various caucuses especially the most dominant one controlled by the South South governors led by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike have been shopping for a younger candidate.
Saturday Sun learnt that the move had led the caucus to look in the direction of the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Besides all these, Atiku is also having issues with his close friends in APC who are angry that he never consulted well before leaving for the PDP. Saturday Sun learnt that one of such friends is a former governor in Benue State and an influential member of the current Sen- ate who recently met Atiku and protested the former Vice President’s hasty exit from the APC. A close friend to Atiku who disclosed the protest to Saturday Sun said the aggrieved Benue lawmaker was angry that Atiku would be left stranded in the PDP because the opposition party’s governors might have made up their minds to give their presidential ticket to a younger candidate.
A member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) told Saturday Sun that notwithstanding the alignment going on among stakeholders, the party has decided to throw its door open to any aspirant interested in the presidential race.
But reacting to the development, Tinubu who spoke through his media adviser, Tunde Rahman, said the issue of supporting Atiku Abubakar or not is a ‘moot point.’
He said: “Asiwaju Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku belong to two different political parties. Asiwaju will support his party and the party’s candidate any day. Moreso, Asiwaju’s position on the presidency is very clear. He has said time and again that for as long as that patriotic leader, President Mu- hammadu Buhari, is on the saddle or seeks to run, he would not contest against him.
“He played a yeoman’s role in bringing this government to power and he believes President Buhari is confronting the nation’s problems head on. He is not saying there are no challenges but he has always said he has implicit confidence in President Buhari to tackle these problems.
“Those who are busy fishing for other reasons for this undiluted support for PMB are free to do so. It’s their opinion and they are entitled to it.”
But in his response, Atiku who also spoke through his media adviser, Paul Ibe, said he has become the issue in Nigerian politics because Nigerians have seen him as the best option in the face of the monumental challenges they are facing and for which the current administration has no solutions except blame gaming.
He said: “As such, he will be the subject of falsehoods and accusations. It comes with the territory. These conjectures are baseless and without foundation whatsoever and I will not dignify them with a further response. Nigerians are jobless; poverty and hopelessness is rife.
“Our own Nigerian Bureau of Statistics revealed that over 10 million Nigerians have lost their jobs under this administration even as unemployment currently stands at 18.8 percent. Meanwhile, the cost of everything from food, to petrol, to electricity has gone up.
“Waziri Atiku Abubakar knows how to create jobs and opportunities and his focus is to alleviate the pains of the long suffering Nigerian people who spent their Christmas at fuel stations and from all indications may spend the early part of the New Year also at fuel stations rather than with loved ones.”

Morning Devotional For Saturday 6th January

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*DON’T BE SIN CONSCIOUS .*

Saturday, January 6th .
Pastor Chris

_*But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).*_

As a child of God, you shouldn’t be on the look out for your sins. In other words, don’t be conscious of sin. Our opening text says if we walk in the light (the Word) as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus automatically cleanses us from all sin. If this is true (and it is), then you don’t have to be confessing your sins all the time. If, for example, you do something wrong, just say, “Lord, I’m sorry for what I did; I receive forgiveness in Jesus’ Name” and that’s it. You might ask, “Is it that simple?” Yes, it is.

God didn’t tell you to ask Him for forgiveness. When you ask God to forgive you, it’s like asking Him to save you. If you do ask Him for forgiveness, when will you know He has answered? In the same way, if you’re asking God to save your soul, how will you know He has saved you? You’ll never know because there’s nothing for Him to do about saving you that He hasn’t already done.

Therefore, what you have to do is receive salvation; you don’t ask for it. It’s the same thing with forgiveness; you receive forgiveness; you don’t ask for it, because the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for the remission of your sins. Some Christians are always asking God for forgiveness, and because they’re asking for something that’s been provided for them, they don’t apply faith. You’re to receive forgiveness as an act of your faith. Afterwards, don’t go back again to receive forgiveness for the same offence, even when Satan brings it to your consciousness.

You’ve already been washed and purged of your sins. Colossians 1:21-22 says, _*“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.”*_ This happened before you ever did anything right or wrong. Therefore, refuse to be sin-conscious. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; be righteousness-conscious.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die and shed His blood for the remission of my sins; I’m cleansed and purified. I walk in the finished works of Christ. Therefore, there’s no condemnation for me. I’m justified, free from the accusation of the evil one, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Romans 8:1* [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. *||*

*||* *2 Corinthians 5:19-20* To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech [you] by us: we pray [you] in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. *||*

*||* *Romans 5:7-11* For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only [so], but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. *||*

2019: Buhari, Tinubu A Dead Ticket For APC – Daika
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-06-2018, 08:21 AM - No Replies

Former member of the House of Representatives and former speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, George Daika says President Muhammadu Buhari will be defeated if he contests in 2019, alongside former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Daika said President Buhari’s re-election bid in 2019 does not pose a threat to the Peoples Democratic Party as Nigerians were tired of his inability to fulfil promises.

On reports that Tinubu would be Buhari’s running mate come 2019, Daika said he would never win as it was a ‘dead ticket on arrival’, describing the selection as worst decision of APC if taken.

“Buhari/Tinubu is already a ticket dead on arrival, that will be the worst decision and we are praying for that insensitive arrangement. We are waiting for whatever they want to do and Nigerians are prepared and ready to change the negative change for a better change that is why over 10, 000 APC members decamped recently in Katsina to PDP and many more are still coming.

“If Buhari is contesting election in 2019, I think that should not be a problem for us as a party; with his inability to fulfil any of his campaign promises, the hunger and hardship Nigerians are going through, it will be easy for PDP to push Buhari away if the right candidate emerges. I want to assure you that Buhari will find it extremely difficult, it is not going to be like 2015 where they used propaganda and all sorts of lies to deceived Nigerians against the PDP.

“Nigerians today have compared between PDP and APC and they know which way to go. With the current awareness in the country, it will be very difficult for Buhari to make any impact. If Buhari runs on the ticket of APC in 2019, PDP will have a free ride because, truly speaking, with Buhari as a candidate, it will just be a walk over for us. People who believed and sponsored Buhari’s campaign in 2015 are today disappointed, they have been chained from seeing the change, the change Buhari brought is a negative one and Nigerians are not prepared for Buhari in 2019”, he said.

Daika speaking with Sun said former vice president Atiku would beat Buhari in the North if he emerged as PDP presidential candidate.

“I believe with the current happening in the country, Atiku can beat Buhari in his home state. We have seen people decamping from APC to PDP and that shows clearly that Nigerians are tired of APC.

“I believed PDP can defeat APC in Katsina, you could see it even when former President Goodluck Jonathan went on a condolence visit to Kano, you saw the overwhelming crowd that came out to received him at the airport, chanting songs, we want you back, we want you back’ and that was because Nigerians are really suffering and they are yearning for the return of PDP.

“I want to say it here that we have to be careful during our presidential primaries so that we will not introduce issue that led us to lose the election in 2015. PDP has all it takes to win the presidential election, all aspirants should be given a level playing ground, there should be no imposition, politics of money bags should be avoided, and we should allow the people to decide whoever they want, with this, certainly we will bounce back in 2019.

“It is my desire that aspirants from the north central should be accommodated; the contest should be narrowed down to North Central and North East who have not produced a democratically elected president in the country before”, he added.

El-Rufai Attacks Ben Bruce Over Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has branded Ben Murray-Bruce, Senator representing Bayelsa East a liar.

El-Rufai said the business mogul is feeding the public with wrong information about the Lagos-Kano dual track-standard gauge rail system.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday commissioned 10 new coaches and two locomotives for the Abuja-Kaduna route.

Reacting to the commissioning of the coaches, the Senator said Buhari should have commended former President, Goodluck Jonathan for “the train ride he enjoyed in Kaduna.”

Noting that the achievement was entirely the handiwork of the Jonathan’s administration, Bruce added, ”Nigeria should give honour to whom honour is due”.

In his reaction, the governor called out the lawmaker, saying he, Bruce, was wrong in his cliam.

El-Rufai noted that former President Olusegun Obasanjo designed and raised the financing and started the “EPC of the Lagos-Kano dual track-standard gauge rail system, and the Abuja Light Rail.”

In a tweet via his Twitter handle, the governor noted that the immediate past President was not part of that government.

El-Rufai said, “Wrong Distinuguisnhed Senator! The Obasanjo administration which Jonathan was not part of, designed, raised the financing and started the EPC of the Lagos-Kano dual track-standard gauge rail system, and the Abuja Light Rail. Yar’Adua-Jonathan stalled both projects for two years!

Fulani Herdsmen: Abia Women Protest Invasion Of Farmlands

Several women from some communities in Bende Local Government Council of Abia State, yesterday staged a protest against what they termed as massive destruction of their crops and farmland by cows under the control of Fulani herdsmen.

The women also alleged that they were constantly being harassed and intimidated by the herdsmen.

The protesting women, who besieged the gate of Abia Government House, Umuahia, lamented that they had lost fortunes last year as a result of the destructive activities of cows belonging to the herdsmen.

One of the protesters, Mrs. Nwachukwu told newsmen at the protest ground that their crops were always ravaged by cows while some of their kinsmen have been attacked by herdsmen over time, adding that they now lived in perpetual fear of herdsmen attack.

The spokesperson of the women, Lolo Comfort Nwachukwu explained that their visit to the Government House was to appeal to the state government to come to their aid over the massive destruction of their farm land and constant harassment and intimidation by herdsmen.

Receiving the women, the Principal Secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr. Emma Nwabuko, condemned the activities of the herdsmen and their cows and commended the women for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves.

Nwabuko said the incessant herdsmen and farmers clashes were unhealthy to Nigeria’s quest for self-sufficiency in food production.

“The anti-grazing bill before the Senate is the antidote that will bring lasting peace to the problem”, he said, and called for accelerated treatment of the bill by the upper chambers.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lamented the long absence of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from the public scene.

He said Nigerians needed the former Radio Biafra boss more than ever.

Kanu went missing last year after the Nigerian Army launched Operation Python Dance to curtail the activities of the pro-Biafra agitators.

The former Minister of Aviation in a Facebook post, expressed hopes that Kanu, whom he described as Lion of the eastern Nigeria, will surely roar again.

He wrote, “How I miss you brother. We need you now more than ever before. Wherever you are and whatever they did to you, you shall live forever.

“Your sun shall never set but it shall rise again. Your courage and love for your people is humbling and second to none. You sacrificed everything and risked all for them.

You refused to abandon your noble cause, prostitute your principles, bow before the slavemasters or kiss the feet of the tyrant.

“You are bold. You are irrepressible. You are unbeatable. You are strong. You shall never be forgotten.

“The Lion of the East shall roar again!”

As shared by George Essien......

'Yesterday I met with Kufre Nnah. His story literally made my day. This is a guy who runs 4 first class barbing saloons in Nigeria, including one in Lekki.

He has barbed the hair of any celebrity you can think of including Timaya, WhizKid, Davido, Ighalo, Dbanj, DonJazzy.the list goes on. Think of them!

This is the guy who is flown in a private jet to cut the hair of the Senate President.

Kufre traveled to Lagos with just N5,000 and a desire to succeed. When I asked him what was the one thing that was the secret of his success, he simply replied, "Focus".

He was an apprentice for 7 years and started his barbing saloon in 2012. Today he has 40 employees in 4 locations. His businesses averages N500,000 minimum daily.

Who says you can't be a barber and become a millionaire? When I asked him how many shops he intends to have in the nearest future, he said 100'

Serious drama as head teacher is been attacked, beaten mercilessly and humiliated over poor Kenya Certificate of Primary Education[KCPE] results.

The top student had 238 marks while the poorest scored 87 marks.
A primary school teacher is nursing serious injuries after he was attacked by parents because of last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination results.
The parents said the school posted poor results due to mismanagement.
Yonah Oyugi, the head teacher of Uradi Primary School in Kisumu West, was attacked in front of pupils and education officials during a meeting to discuss the management of the institution.

Parents also accused the head teacher of abusing them and their children. They claimed that he had mismanaged funds meant for development. Oyugi denied the allegations.

Reports indicated that only four of the 27 candidates who sat the exams got 200 marks and above, out of a possible 500 marks.

The parents said the top student had 238 marks while the poorest scored 87 marks, equivalent to a score in one well-performed subject.
“Since he took over in 2010, the school’s performance has continually dropped. In last year’s exams, not even a single student scored the average 250 marks, with the majority scoring below 170 marks,” one of the parents said.

The officials were going into a closed-door meeting after another one chaired by the Kisumu West director of education, Albert Langat, when the fighting started.

The parents demanded that Oyugi’s deputy take over and asked the authorities to investigate the head teacher over alleged mismanagement of resources.

The parents attacked the teacher with stones and chairs. Oyugi was injured on the head as those supporting him and those opposed to his reign clashed.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 5TH JANUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Our Fellowship With Him✨

"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3)."

Fellowship means oneness. It’s a coming together; a union. And in the context of our opening text, it means being in the same class with God. We’ve been brought into an inseparable oneness with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. No wonder Peter calls us “comrades of the God-kind”; partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

The same life that flows in the vine (Jesus), flows in the branches (the church), because we’re one with Him. This is a marvelous thing about our Christianity; our oneness with the Lord. It’s the reason Jesus came. The Bible says, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9).

How could you be broke, poor, or live an ordinary life, when you’re in fellowship with God? Part of what that means is that you’re a joint-heir with Christ! Everything that belongs to Jesus Christ belongs to you, in the same way that it belongs to Him. That’s the grace of Jesus Christ. He’s brought you into oneness with Himself. The world belongs to you. Live and walk in this consciousness.

Nothing can work against you. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God….” It doesn’t matter how dark and gloomy things get, you’re a victor in Christ Jesus, because you’re in league—in partnership—with the Monarch of the universe. Anywhere you are in the world, God knows, God cares, God is concerned, and He’s mindful of you to do you good. This consciousness will change your perception of the world, and of yourself.

CONFESSION
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege of being in fellowship with you, with Jesus and with the Holy Spirit; my life is made! The world belongs to me! I’m unlimited; all things are mine in Christ. I express the life and character of the Spirit to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

[Image: vllkyt1ah2u3kiereg.78f4ecf6-600x338.png]It was more like a horror movie yesterday when Chelsea Football star, Alvaro Morata had 4 one on one encounter with their opponent’s goalkeeper and he couldn’t find the back of the net in all encounters. The match yesterday with Arsenal Football Club ended in a 2 all draw, with a late equalizer by Bellerin after an early lead by the visiting team at the Emirate Stadium.

The player has since begun to trend all over the world over his misses.

In what looked like an after-match effect of the poor performance, the player took to social media to motivate himself and his fans as well – he posted a photo of himself handling the ball in the Arsenal game with the caption “When things don’t go as expected there’s only one way…Work hard!”

This Ghanaian couple went viral over their height difference. And this is clearly an indication that height is never a barrier in any relationship that is going to work out. A lot of us have given much attention to physical attributes that we tend to ignore the real catalysts for a successful relationship.
I know some people might want to point out the fact that the groom could be financially endowed. Well even if that is true, he has at least shown to the world that nothing can come in between him and the one he chose to stay with.
We wish them a blissful marriage ahead.

FG Grants Fuel Marketers Special FX To Resume Fuel Importation
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-04-2018, 12:43 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal Government has agreed to grant oil marketers further concession to access Foreign Exchange (FOREX) at a rate below the official N305 per dollar to enable them resume importation of petrol, Daily Trust has learnt.

This was part of resolutions reached at the meeting of an ad hoc committee set up by the Presidency to engage key downstream stakeholders on sustainable solutions to fuel supply in the country.

The meeting took place at the office of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja yesterday.

Sources at the meeting told Daily Trust that the new rate is being worked out by a special committee on FOREX in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Ministry of Finance.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had recently lamented that despite the concession by the government giving access to the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA) to obtain FOREX at an official rate of N305 per dollar for PMS import, their members have not been able to do so, leaving NNPC as the sole supplier of PMS to the Nigerian market.

The National Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mr. Danladi Pasali, said the committee which is charged with the resumption of petrol import by marketers will look into how to make the US dollar available to marketers instead of paying them subsidy.

“That FX will help checkmate the cost of bringing in product,” Pasali said, adding, “With all these measures taken, we can assure the general public that there will be surplus petroleum product.”

He explained that the other sub-committees will look into product distribution and surveillance.
It was also gathered from the meeting that marketers agreed that the price of petrol should not be increased.

Oil marketers agreed to adopt cost-cutting strategies and for them to look inward and improve efficiency so that they can cut cost and resume imports.

The committee has as members, heads of some parastatals under the ministry, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), DAPPMA, IPMAN, and labour officials.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Filled Up FNB Stadium In South Africa (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 01-04-2018, 12:01 PM - No Replies

Management of Africa’s largest soccer arena, FNB Stadium in South Africa, has named Prophet Shepherd Bushiri as Africa’s most crowd puller after yet another successful Crossover Night which attracted over 100 000 people.

The management, which is to make a statement , confided in Nyasa Times that Prophet Bushiri deserves the honour not just for attracting the 2017/18 year’s feat; rather, for consistently maintaining the feat for the past three years.
Sources from FNB management told Nyasa Times that in the 29 years of FNB Stadium’s operation, no person has ever done what Prophet Bushiri keeps achieving by consistently filling the stadium with ever increasing figures.
It’s unprecedented, it’s historical and it deserves special and higher recognition in South Africa’s history of events management and crowd mobilization, he said.
FNB stadium capacity, after completion of its construction in 1989, was 80 000 spectators.
Twenty years later, the stadium received a major upgrade in preparation for the 2010 World Cup—going up to 95 000 spectators.
However, when Prophet Bushiri started holding Crossover Nights in 2015, the attendance has been filling to capacity plus slight excess—owing to the fact that thousands of others get seated on the playing field.
Since the first 2015/16 Crossover Night, dubbed the Night of Lion of Judah; through the 2016/17 one, dubbed Night of Honey; Prophet Bushiri has been a consistent crowd puller with the recent one, dubbed Night of Angel Gabriel, seeing 100 000 tickets, selling at R10, selling out in 9 days.
Even if organizers squeezed in and produced 2 000 more tickets, it didn’t help either because, in a day, they were all over. To mean, they were thousands others who could not make it to the event because of capacity issues.
In an interview with Nyasa Times after the event, Prophet Bushiri—who is the leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) and Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Ministries International—didn’t say much only attributing everything to God’s grace.
“There is nothing I can do just with my hands. All what you see here is because of God’s grace and love for our ministry,” he said and refused to comment further.
During the teaching, the Prophet unpacked the message of Angel Gabriel underlining that the choice of the theme doesn’t, in any way, imply the worship of the angel.
In explaining about Angel Gabriel and its relevance in forming the event’s theme, the Prophet reckoned that this particular angel is a messenger who is fond of bringing good news to people and further contextualised that believers should brace for good news in the year 2018.
He further indicated that angel Gabriel appeared to at least three people in the Bible, first to the prophet Daniel, to whom he explained a vision that he had; next to the priest Zechariah to foretell and announce the miraculous birth of John the Baptist; and finally to the virgin Mary to tell her that she would conceive and give birth to Jesus.
Most importantly, the Prophet called upon to stand strong in prayer and fasting, saying that these are practices that create an attractive environment for visitation of angel Gabriel.
Addressing questions whether the event was about worshiping angel Gabriel, the Prophet narrated that angels are not there to be worshiped and neither was the event about worshiping angel Gabriel.
He indicated that only God deserves worship: “We do not worship angels and angels are not there to be worshiped. We worship God only and we are asking God to release angel Gabriel into situations of believers so they can enjoy good news in the year 2018.”
The Prophet also clarified about stories going round about using FNB ticket money to enrich himself. He said that the entire event has a R11 million budget.
The R10 tickets, he said, was too minimal that the money realised was only used to produce the tickets which were principally for control purposes.
He underlined that much of the money used for the event came from his personal accounts.
Prophet Bushiri is a successful businessperson who is a president and founder of Shepherd Bushiri Investments (SBI), an investment companies with various entities such as hotels, airlines, consultancy agencies, mobile networks, mining, to name but a few.

At Okpara square Enugu Cow right is superior to human rights .

An Enugu based lawyer and journalist, Chijioke Okibe, has revealed his displeasure after seeing some cows grazing openly at the "highly-secured" Michael Okpara square in Enugu state. According to him, the popular Okpara square which is used for series of top events in the state - is not open to citizens who want to exercise there but is allegedly opened to cows for feeding.

At Okpara square Enugu Cow right is superior to human rights .

It is ironical that the gates of Okpara square are thrown open to cows and sheep every morning but locking human being out from entering to exercise but I don't think the authorities in Enugu are aware of this development. Let human right at okpara square be returned to be superior to that of cows, this we ask in Jesus Name, Amen. We are worried that the duty of stern looking security personnel at the Okpara square gate is simply to prevent people from going in to exercise only for the same security to open the gates for cows to go in and graze. Is it part of the bane of third worldism? Let us think about this or Gburu gburu will hear it....

Kenyan Student Dies On A Plane In US While Sleeping (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 01-04-2018, 11:16 AM - No Replies

A Kenyan couple living in the US is in shock following the death of their 18-year-old son who fell asleep on a plane and never woke up.

Griffin Gutwa, a student at the University of San Diego, California, where he was studying to be a doctor, was on his way home for Christmas.

The former Burnsville High School student, the oldest of four children, was the first to attend college since the family moved to the US in 2004.

According to US press reports, Mr Gutwa called his family on the morning of December 22 just before boarding a Delta Airlines flight from San Diego to Minneapolis.

"He had just finished his exams," said his father, Gideon Gutwa. "He was excited to come home."
About an hour into the flight, Griffin asked for warm water. He later leaned his head against the window and fell asleep, according to other passengers.

The passenger next to him became concerned when his breathing changed, and called for a flight attendant. The attendant checked on him, realised something was wrong and asked for a medical professional to help.

Gutwa was not breathing and the pilot began looking for a place to make an emergency landing. The nearest airport was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

But paramedics at the airport were unable to revive Gutwa, according to Sioux Falls Police Department. The father was told CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was performed on his son for 45 minutes but he did not wake up.

Journey Continues..

Gutwa's body was left in Sioux Falls and the plane continued with the journey. At about 6pm, his father was called by Minneapolis St Paul International Airport to pick up his son.

He was told the plane had been delayed for two hours. The delay didn't bother the senior Gutwa. It just gave him more time to run back to Burnsville to pick up the rest of the family.

When the father returned, he had not even gotten out of his car when airport security approached. He thought he had parked improperly. They later asked if he was Griffin's father. This, he said, confused him.

"How come they know my son?" he said.

The officers directed him and the family to an office where they told him Griffin was dead.

"I thought I was dreaming. I could not believe it," Gideon said. "He was very healthy. He had just been here for thanksgiving. We were expecting him to arrive safely."

Described as a responsible, outgoing and helpful teenager, Griffin planned to use his medical degree to help the less fortunate. He always talked of returning to Kenya to start non-profit organisations to help alleviate poverty.

The cause of death is still under investigation by the Sioux Falls medical examiner.

Agbakoba threatens suit, if FG fails to comply with budget procedure

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN has given the federal government seven days within which to comply with the constitutional procedure of budget passage or risk a law suit.

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association  (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN has given the federal government   seven days within which to comply with the constitutional procedure of budget passage or risk a law suit.

Agbakoba gave the ultimatum on Monday intwo separate letters to both the Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House Yakubu Dogara.

He said that the constitutional procedure for preparing the appropriation bill is that each arm of government—the executive, legislature and the judiciary—lays before the National Assembly its estimates of revenue and expenditure for each financial year after which it is appropriated, harmonized as a bill and presented to the President for his assent, according to Sections 81 to 84 of the Constitution.

"Unfortunately, the Executive has failed to comply with this procedure by laying before the National Assembly estimates of revenues and expenditure for the Judiciary.

A subsisting federal high court decision on a case he filed against the attorney-general of the federation declared the practice unconstituional.

He said that the NASS should draw the attention of the Executive to the decision of the Federal High Court. "The NASS should request the National Judicial Council ( NJC ) to lay before it the Judiciary’s estimates of revenue and expenditure for 2018 and the Executive be made to represent its estimates for 2018.

"We are unaware if the National Assembly has laid it budget estimates. But please note that if after seven days the constitutional procedure is not complied with, we shall have no choice but to initiate legal proceedings to enforce the decision of the Federal High Court and set aside the 2018 Appropriation Bill", he said.

35 Years Later, Lagos, Abuja, And 12 Other Airports Get New Weather Minima
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 01-04-2018, 10:31 AM - No Replies

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved new weather minima for Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and 10 other airports in the country.
The latest approval is coming 35 years after the regulatory agency carried out a similar exercise in all the airports across the country.
The new status for the 14 airports would take effect from tomorrow, Thursday.
The last time NCAA carried out a review of aerodrome operating weather minima for airports in the country was in 1983.
NCAA said that it has approved 300 meters Runway Visual Range (RVR) for the 14 airports from 800 meters RVR, which the country had been using since 1983.
The other new airports with the status are Kaduna, Ilorin, Gombe, Owerri, Sokoto, Uyo, Yola, Dutse, Calabar, and Enugu.
With the new status, aircraft can now land at the airports even with low visibility once it is within the approved minima weather condition for such an airport.
The new ratings indicated that the era of incessant flight delays and cancellations occasioned by inclement weather would be a thing of the past.
It would be recalled that flight delays and cancelations had massively affected flight operations in the country in the past one month.
No fewer than 300 flights were canceled or delayed across all the nation’s airports in December 2017 with thousands of passengers affected.
But, with the new status, more airlines would be able to take-off or land in the 14 airports even with low visibility and passengers could go ahead with their travel plans with fewer hitches.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye stated today that the agency reviewed 18 airports across the country before giving approval for the 14 airports.
He said that the 14 airports are now approved for Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category II Approach and Landing Minima.
According to Adurogboye, the present review allowed for takeoff as low as 150 meters RVR while the above-stated airports could permit landing with 300 meters RVR.
He noted that before the current review, the lowest visibility Category Two ILS in the nation’s airports was 800 metres/550 RVR (Runway Visual Range).
Adurogboye emphasized that the last time weather minima were actually reviewed was in 1983, stressing that a semblance of revision undertaken in 1993 only stated that the takeoff minima should be equal or greater than landing minima at all airports.
He added that this was to allow for an air return to the same airport should there arise an emergency.
He added: “This is in compliance with the provision of Part 8 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs Part 8), and in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Doc.9365.
“In this review, the regulatory authority took cognizance of improvements in visual and navigational aids within the affected airports. The reviewed aerodrome operating minima would serve to enhance the operating capacity of the aerodromes. This is due to the fact that it will avail the operators with improved minima for low visibility operations.”
Apart from the 14, other four airports also reviewed in conjunction with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) were Eket, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zaria.
Adurogboye hinted that the implementation of these revised aerodrome operating minima would, however, be based on compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures for Low Visibility Operations at the affected airports.
He said this is usually executed by the flight crew, Air Traffic Controllers (ATC), aerodrome operators and the Meteorological Agency.
To ensure the seamless operation of these revised minima, he insisted the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) would continue to ensure the prompt and regular provision of required meteorological information, which he said would include flight visibility and Runway Visual Range (RVR) values to all ATC units in the airports.
He added: “Thus NiMET and NAMA shall ensure constant updating of the Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) with the available RVR values as appropriate."
“All airlines, aerodrome operators, and air navigation service providers are required to ensure adequate training of their personnel and flight crew that would be involved in low visibility operations."
“The air navigation service provider is expected to ensure regular flight calibration of all available navigational aids. This is to ensure safe and efficient flight operations, especially during low visibility operations.”

Morning Devotional For Thursday 4th January

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2iK6qRp)*

*OUR COMPLETENESS IN HIM .*

Thursday, January 4th .
Pastor Chris

_*For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:9-10).*_

The totality of divinity resides in Jesus Christ. When you see Jesus, you’re looking at the fullness of the God-head; He’s the house of God in entirety. Whether or not you agree with this doesn’t make any difference. You may look at Him and say He’s just a man, like they said in Bible days, but He’s Himself God.

“Fullness” in our theme scripture is the Greek word “pleroma” which means a completeness, where nothing that’s necessary is out; where there’s no shortage; a perfect completion. And something most amazing about this is that the Bible says, “You’re complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power.”

When God looks at you, He sees completeness; everything you require for life and godliness is in you: _*“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”*_ (2 Peter 1:3). Refuse to live with a consciousness of lack; as though there’re certain things you don’t have; live the higher life in Christ.

As long as you’re thinking, “If only the government would do this or that for me; if only XYZ would give me this or give me that, I’d be able to make it in life,” you’re confessing incompleteness, and that’s wrong. You’re sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency. Become totally inundated with this consciousness. Affirm it. Live it.

Your confession, every so often should be, “Father, I’m not desiring anything, because I have all things! I’m complete in Christ! I’m sufficient in His sufficiency; there’s no shortage in my life, but completeness.” Do this consciously and continually, and you’d realize that merely calling things by name brings them into your world. This world belongs to you! Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the indwelling presence of Christ in me, in the person of the Holy Spirit. I don’t lack or want for anything: ideas, inspiration, wealth, prosperity, and all the goodness of God are in my spirit, and I bring them forth from the fullness in my spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

Despite Producing Most Oil, Akwa Ibom Has No NNPC, DPR Offices - Governor Udom
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-03-2018, 08:48 PM - No Replies

Quote:Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has accused the federal government of neglecting the state.

Mr. Emmanuel said the state, despite being the largest producer of oil in the country, has not seen many development projects from the federal government for years.

The governor was speaking on Tuesday during a prayer meeting organised by the state government in Uyo to usher in the New Year.

“We are the largest producer of oil in this country,” Governor Emmanuel said. “I want to challenge the minister of petroleum resources, let them show us a kiosk that is NNPC office in Akwa Ibom, let them show us a kiosk that is the DPR office in Akwa Ibom.

“Let them show us even one reservoir that they say is a petroleum depot in Akwa Ibom,” he said to the cheering of the crowd which included pastors, traditional rulers, politicians and a former governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio, who is the Senate Minority Leader.

The governor said the state government was building a deep seaport in the state which, when completed, will benefit not only Nigeria but other countries as well in the Gulf of Guinea.

He said it was unfortunate that the federal government was not giving the state the needed support for the project.

“We don’t have a choice; as a people that is why we launch our ‘dakkada’ campaign – we say we must rise up to the faith of our greatness as a people.

“We can’t wait for the federal government, we must take our destiny in our hands. We must work for our people. We must serve our people,” Mr. Emmanuel said.

The governor said the federal government could at least reward the Akwa Ibom people for being peaceful.

“Those who are peace-loving also deserve to be rewarded.

“Let the federal government this year look at the infrastructure in Akwa Ibom. We need a road from Calabar to Ikot Ekpene, to Aba and up to Lagos. We need a railway line because the loan that we collected from China to develop railway lines in Nigeria, the repayment of that loan will also come from resources out of Akwa Ibom. So, we also need a rail line that will run throughout coastline.

The governor said despite the lack of federal support, Akwa Ibom, through the effort of the state government, was enjoying a constant supply of electric power.

“Akwa Ibom is God’s own project,” he said. “God is our help in ages past.”

Reports reaching 9news Nigeria indicate that there is currently a heavy tension in Benue State after soldiers following Governor Ortom opened fire at an unarmed protesters, injuring many.
According to an eyewitness who shared the story said…

”Today we’ve confirmed the apparent inability of the government and it’s security agencies in coming the aid of Benue people who have been slaughtered, butchered, murdered in the most gruesome manner by the Fulani herdsmen.
Instead of using the guns on the Fulani herdsmen for the protection of the Benue people, the government and it’s agencies prefers to use same on the unarmed people of Benue. Some citizens who came out to register their grievances over the gruesome murder of the innocent people of Benue. Even as I post, there are shootings of live bullets at the unarmed protesters in Makurdi by the combined team of Airforce, Army, Navy, Police, NSCDC, BSVG, SSS and the rest… May God come to our aid.”

"If Jonathan Was A Looter, Buhari Is A Super Looter" – ADP Chairman, Yesufu
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:If Jonathan was a looter, Buhari is a super looter – ADP chairman, Yesufu

The National Chairman of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabaji Yesufu, has described President Muhammadu Buhari and members of his administration as super looters.

Yesufu, while speaking with Daily Sun, said former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration may be seen as corrupt but that the current government, though pretending to be fighting corruption, is soaked in it.

Asked if President Buhari has been successful in the fight against graft, Yesufu began, “He has not done well. In fact, he has performed woefully. Even if you take the case of Col. Dasuki, they said he diverted $2bn that was voted to fight Boko Haram. Today, this government that came to fight corruption has also done the same thing.

“They have voted $1bn to fight Boko Haram. And we know that there is no Boko Haram to fight. It is just money to fight election. Or if you like rob people of their free choice. They want to bastardise the process more than we have ever seen.

“Don’t forget that the capital budget for 2017 has not been implemented and here we are battling with the 2018 budget. So what are they going to do with this money?

“They now came out and say they have $1bn. So if you are talking about corruption, this government is much corrupt. In fact corruption is more endemic and entrenched under this administration more than the previous administration.

“The previous administration, you may call them looters but these ones are super looters. Because a glaring case of abuse of office by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) took this administration almost one year plus before they admitted that something was wrong before they suspended this man and they have refused to allow the EFCC to interrogate this person.

“We still have other cases of corruption at the highest level of governance and that wasn’t the case in the Jonathan administration.
I am sure that this government is a still born baby in the fight against corruption.”

Nigeria’s Bonny Light Crude Oil Hits $67.10 A Barrel
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 01-03-2018, 01:46 PM - No Replies

The price of Nigeria’s Bonny Light crude oil reached $67.10 per barrel to emerge the highest priced product among members of Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).Apart from Bonny Light crudes, other Nigeria’s oil grades such as Brass River and Qua Iboe also appreciated in value to sell at $65.32 and $61.22 per barrel respectively yesterday at the international market.

United Arab Emirate’s Murban; Algeria’s Saharan Blend and Qatar Marine also recorded impressive performance to settle at $66.83, $67.05 and $66.83 per barrel respectively. The Bonny Light is in high demand specifically by American and European refineries. It is therefore a major source of income for the oil-rich nation.

The very low sulfur content of Bonny Light crude makes it a highly desired grade for its low corrosiveness to refinery infrastructure and the lower environment impact of its byproducts in refinery effluent. At a broader level, at the New York Mercantile Exchange, United State West Texas Intermediate (WTI), crude futures traded at $60.45 a barrel during the trading hours of yesterday, recording its highest since June 2015.

Brent crude futures recorded a one per cent decrease in price at $66.81 a barrel yesterday, after hitting $67.29 a barrel few days ago.West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent, two major crude oil benchmarks, account for 70 per cent of the weighting in the Standard and Poor’s (S&P) Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI) energy index.

As a result, the energy index tends to follow major price movements in the crude oil market. The weights associated with individual commodities within the S&P GSCI index are updated every year in response to changes in global commodity production quantities and futures contract trading volumes.

Although still lower than in 2011 through 2014, crude oil prices rose for the second straight year after a crude oil production-cut agreement was executed among the OPEC)and some non-OPEC countries, which partially constrained global crude oil production.

The agreement came into effect in January 2017 and will continue through the end of 2018. In addition to supply-side factors, strong economic growth in both developed and emerging markets has led to higher oil demand.

OPEC Secretary General, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, during the association’s yearly general assembly, attributed the improvement in prices of crude oil to the declaration of cooperation by OPEC and non-OPEC members.

Barkindo stated: “Together with our non-OPEC partners, we have co-authored a new chapter in the history of this industry, one that is about cooperation, stability and sustainability. Our work together over the past year has forged new relationships between OPEC and non-OPEC countries, which never existed in the past. This has led to new friendships, new opportunities and laid the groundwork for ongoing future cooperation. We can be very proud of what we have achieved working together.

“The decisions we made were historic and mark the first time in the history of the industry that 24 OPEC and non-OPEC producers have joined forces to help contribute to improving oil market stability. I am happy to say that we can now firmly put to rest any suggestions that this process we have started and the Declaration of Cooperation could not be successful.”

Tin Can Records 150% Increase In Agro Exports
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 01-03-2018, 01:44 PM - No Replies

A total of 161,285.72 metric tonnes of agricultural products were exported through Tin Can Island Port in 2017, representing over 150 per cent increase from the 55,000 metric tonnes processed through the port in 2016.

The Area Controller, Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command, Yusuf Bashar, who disclosed this, said that cocoa topped the list of commodities exported through the port last year.

Bashar listed other exported commodities to include pepper, soybean, rubber, milk, frozen shrimps, hibiscus flowers and ginger, among others.

According to him, cocoa bean, which was the highest exported agricultural product through the port last year, recorded 33,294 metric tonnes followed by sesame seed and rubber, which recorded 15,189.78 and 15,072.84 metric tonnes, respectively.

The Deputy Controller of Customs in charge of Exports, Audu Ochuma, attributed the feat to increased participation in agricultural activities, adding that exportation required more meticulousness than importation.

Ochuma expressed optimism that the volume of Nigerian export of agricultural products would increase in 2018 because of the various incentives and encouragement from the Federal Government.

He said, “Over 5,000 duty-free commodities and items can be exported to the United States of America under the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

“A United States embassy official had advised us at a function that Nigeria should concentrate on agricultural products and other specific areas outside technology, as we have a better advantage with the former than the latter.

“For instance, if we pursue exporting made-in-Nigeria radio, television and other household electronics, the tendencies are that we won’t meet the standards required by the advanced countries for now. So it’s better we focus more on areas where we are better off than them.”

Under the Economic Community of West African States’ Trade Liberalisation Scheme, Ochuma said Nigeria had been exporting alcoholic beverages, milk and other finished products to neighbouring countries, taking advantage of the zero duty regime.

He added that Nigeria stood a chance to benefit more from other African countries like South Africa that made over $300m from exports to the US alone.

2019: Buhari Reappoints Amaechi Campaign DG
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-03-2018, 01:41 PM - No Replies

Quote:Tinubu backs president second term, may seek commitments

With 2019 general election just 13 months away, it has come to light that President Muhammadu Buhari may have finally thrown his hat into the ring to seek re-election next year by reappointing his Minister of Transportation and former governor of Rivers State, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, as the Director-General of his 2019 election campaign.

Already, Amaechi, who led Buhari’s campaign in 2015, THISDAY gathered, has been issued a letter of appointment for next year’s election and would make an official announcement on his appointment anytime soon.

Twice last year, Buhari had hinted at a possible presidential run, albeit subtly. First, he did so during a summit on counter-terrorism in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and the second time last November, when he visited Kano State on a two-day working visit.

THISDAY gathered that although the president has refused to share his 2019 aspirations with many people, he has however intimated Amaechi of his intention to seek re-election.

Amaechi before the 2015 elections had convinced Buhari, who after losing to former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 had said he would not contest for the presidency again, to re-contest in order to stabilise the polity and implement the “change” agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, this time around, Buhari was said to have confirmed his intention to run strictly to the “Buharists”, a group of loyalists formed by Amaechi and comprises governors of the APC, ministers, party chieftains and some prominent Nigerians, all of whom share the ideals of the group.

Amaechi, THISDAY gathered, formed the Buharists group at the height of growing criticism against the Buhari presidency and convinced its members to alter the narrative against the president.

With the formation of the group, Amaechi was also said to have consulted with critical stakeholders in government, the party and the country, to first seek their buy-in and enjoin them to join the 2019 election bid, which according to sources, is expected to be much tougher than the 2015 contest.

Sources close to the APC also hinted that although a majority of party members are not averse to the president’s re-election bid, they have however craved that things be done properly and expect Buhari to reach out to them personally to intimate them of his re-election bid.

According to sources, the National Leader of the APC, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also believed to have told some of those close to the president that whilst he and his loyalists in the South-west were ready to back Buhari’s re-election bid, the condition for their support would be different this time around.

According to one source, the APC chieftain had told those who approached him on Buhari’s re-election bid that “let it be known that we supported him in 2015 based on trust. This time, around, we have to negotiate proper agreement”.

Although it is almost a fait accompli that the president would run in next year’s election, sources in the APC are nonetheless very concerned that the contest will be much tougher due to the disappointment, mistrust and discontent with the administration by a large section of Nigerians.

Accordingly, the Buharists have been reaching out to seek the understanding and cooperation of all that matter, as they forge ahead with Buhari’s re-election.

In the meantime, Amaechi, the sources revealed, would hold a press briefing in the next few days to announce his appointment as well as unveil the agenda for the Buhari 2019 project.

Fulani Herdsmen Killings An Invitation For Civil War - Benue APC Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-03-2018, 01:30 PM - No Replies

The Benue State chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Abba Yaro has described the massive killing of over 50 Benue people by the Fulani herdsmen as an invitation for Civil War.

In a Statement issued in Abuja, Yaro decried the recent killings as an attempt to spark second civil war in Nigeria, insisting that, it is clear case of ethnic cleansing around the Benue Valley which must be stopped immediately.

While calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately call the Fulani to order and as well direct security agents to fetch out the killers, he also called on all Benue Sons and daughters, irrespective of Party affiliation to rise in defence of Benue Community.

"This is above Party politics, it is human lives, how can you kill a pregnant woman and removed the unborn child yet slaughtered it? It is barbaric, unspeakable and generally unpalatable".

Yaro says the Anti Open Grazing Law in Benue is not targeted at any section of the people but for the general security of Benue State, a measure against cattle rustling and a solution to herders/farmers clash.

"The implementation is ongoing and we are in support of our governor, we are not deterred, the Anti Open Grazing Law has come to stay.

"Nigerians should not see the killings as a Benue problem but National crisis, the absence of peace in Benue is an absence of peace in Nigeria.

"We must treat it as a national ethnic cleansing by the Fulanis and collectively pressurize Mr President to put an end to it. If Boko Haram can be defeated, IPOB stopped, Fulani killings can be stopped", he observed.

He further call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Buratai, the Interior Minister Lt Gen Danbazau, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris to protect Benue community or "we rise in self-defense, which will amount to the second civil war."

Yaro emphasized that "if the Fulanis are not called to order by the relevant authorities to stop the ethnic cleansing like the lawless Fulanis are doing, Benue people shall take laws into their hands in self-defense".

Wink Prostitute Returns To Work 30 Minutes After Giving Birth In UK

Quote:PCSO who works with prostitutes in Hull revealed their desperate plight
*Jacqui Fairbanks said many of them have been physically and sexually abused
"'This isn't Pretty Woman' where women 'live happily ever after', said the officer

A prostitute went back to work in a notorious red light district just 30 minutes after giving birth, a Police Community Support Office has revealed.

Jacqui Fairbanks, has been helping the sex workers in Hull's Hessle Road for ten years and says there are currently around 40 of them working in the area at various times.

[Image: 47B469DB00000578-5229591-image-a-1_15149...00x402.jpg]

[Image: 47B469C900000578-5229591-image-a-3_1514926898820.jpg]

Many come from backgrounds where they have been abused physically and sexually while many of them are homeless and sleep on sofas.

Mental health problems are common and there are problems of trafficking and coercion by pimps and boyfriends, explained the officer.

'One woman had a baby and, within half an hour, was back out on the streets. That's how desperate some of these women are,' she told the Hull Daily Mail.

'This isn't Pretty Woman, I'm afraid. Some rich punter isn't going to come along and sweep these women off their feet and live happily ever after.

'Our problem is that these women will not come and deal with us. Their self-esteem is so low that they enjoy the attention they receive and that is really sad.'

PCSO Fairbanks said the age ranged women in their late 20s or early 30s to a couple of women in their 60s though 'thankfully we don't have any young girls on the streets in Hull'.

When it comes to customers said : 'We have lads as young as 17 or 18 using these sex workers and the age range goes up to those in their 80s.

'They are all from different backgrounds and cultures. There are those who are very affluent and those who are unemployed.'

She said that the police work work very closely with other agencies, such as social services, the Together Women Project. Lighthouse, the Vineyard and Humbercare.

PCSO Fairbanks says the lack of sympathy for prostitutes can be unfair.

'There is a perception that these women are all on benefits but that is not always the case. For many, this is their only source of income.

'At the end of the day these women are somebody's daughter. I try to tell them they are better than this. But all we can do is off them the help through the different agencies.

One thing PCSO Fairbanks is relieved about the reduction in violence.

'We have managed things better now and there is less violence towards these women,' she said.

'There will always be dodgy pimps and violent boyfriends but, otherwise, the women are quick to tell us if they have been victims of violence. We have a better rapport.

'It has been around ten years since the last murder of a sex worker.'

In a landmark ruling in 2014, section 222 orders were introduced meaning prostitutes and kerb crawlers found breaching the order by loitering, soliciting or having sex, face arrest.

Plain-clothes officers have been employed to catch kerb crawlers approaching prostitutes.

In the last three months, there has been police engagement with 26 kerb crawlers. There has been 16 section 222 orders have been handed out to users and a further 12 warnings issued.

The long-term plan is to put kerb crawlers on courses rather than sending them to court.

In the last three months there has been police engagement with 42 sex workers. There have been 33 section 222 orders handed out, 32 warnings issued and there has been 32 breaches of those orders, sometimes by the same person multiple times.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*PERPETUAL VICTORY AND GLORY IN CHRIST JESUS .*

Wednesday, January 3rd .
Pastor Chris

_*Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14).*_

For those who understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the reason Christ came, life isn’t full of “ups and downs,” but one of perpetual victory and glory in Christ Jesus. As a child of God, you’re called to live each day of your life in glory, in victory over every situation. The victorious life is your birthright, for God has raised you up, and made you to sit together with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

You’re seated with Christ _*“Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”*_ (Ephesians 1:21). You’re seated far above the devil and the cohorts of darkness, and the negative influences of this world. You’ve already overcome them! Have the mentality that you can’t be defeated or disadvantaged.

Nothing in this world could successfully stand against you, for _*“…greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world”*_ (1 John 4:4). You’ve been delivered, transferred, from the powers of darkness, and translated into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son, who leads us in the triumphal excursions of life; a perpetual victory parade!

Take your stand in faith against sickness, disease, poverty, death, Satan, and his manipulations. Maintain your victory in Christ Jesus. Life in Christ is a super-life; it’s a daily expression of victorious and triumphant living! The Bible says, “Christ in you, the hope of glory”; that means glory has come now that Christ is in you. That you have Christ in you means success has come; prosperity has come; strength has come. Hallelujah! What a life He’s given us; a life of victory, glory and dominion, through the Word and the Holy Spirit.

*CONFESSION*

*I go forth today, in victory and dominion over Satan, and his cohorts of darkness, and the circumstances of life. I experience the power and supernatural grace of God today, as I make manifest the savour of the knowledge of Christ, in every place, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 Corinthians 15:55-57* O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? 56 The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. 57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. *||*

*||* *1 John 4:4* Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. *||*

*||* *Romans 8:35-37* Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. *||*

President Buhari's New Year Message To Nigerians Is An Embarrassment - Ozekhome
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 03:26 PM - No Replies

Human rights activist, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), has described January 1st new year address by President Mohammadu Buhari, as an embarrassment. In a statement yesterday in Abuja, he said the remarks were not only embarrassingly banal, uninspiring, empty, but also myopic, unrealistic and bereft of any benefit of historical dynamics.

Ozekhome pointed out that the speech was a confirmation of the fact that the President had lost touch with the people, saying:

“It is an unfortunate metaphor for one who has lost total touch with the people and their aching pulse.” “It was an honest admission of abysmal failure, total directionless and cluelessness in the current opaque governance of the country.

“It never talked about or told Nigerians what he is doing about the putrefying corruption in his government with overwhelming and incontrovertible evidence of fat untouchable cows left unprosecuted. “The President, in his speech dismissed the genuine and shrill cries of Nigerians for immediate restructuring of our fundamentally flawed federal system of government, which is actually unitary in nature and operation.

“I couldn’t believe Buhari could muster the courage to blame helpless and hapless Nigerians for being inpatient in their expectation of good governance after two years and nine months of his becoming President, with only one more year to another general elections.”

Ozekhome reminded the number one citizen and the All Progressives Congress (APC) that they voluntarily entered into a written contract with Nigerians in their manifesto of about 41 mouth-watering ‘Eldorado promises’ that completely hoodwinked Nigerians to queue behind him.

“When he was accused of not possessing school certificate or its equivalent, Nigerians fired back that it didn’t matter and that they were satisfied if all he had was a mere Agege bread or NEPA bill tag. “Such was the ululation and sheer passion that when he was pronounced winner, one Nigerian actually walked from Lagos to Abuja in solidarity, while another rode a bicycle from Kaduna to Lagos.

“Unfortunately, all the promises and hopes of a better tomorrow have since become a mirage, reminding one of Julius Caesar’s tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” “He surprisingly exonerated a colourless, rudderless and corruption-laden NNPC that is not accountable to the Nigerian people.

“PMB failed to do an honest self introspection to discover that he, as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources (since he could not trust any other Nigerian honest enough to head the ministry) had woefully failed Nigerians. “Nearly half of the speech was wasted on discussion of railway projects, which do not add value to immediate issues of hunger, mass unemployment and Nigerians’ desire to survive.

“The more I read the speech, the more I am convinced that Nigeria is in real trouble.”

"Buhari Is Wrong, Nigeria Needs Restructuring" - Balarabe Musa
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 03:15 PM - No Replies

A former governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has called for economic restructuring to ensure the delivery of good governance in the country.
Mr. Musa made the call in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday following President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Year broadcast.
The president had in the speech said that the problem with Nigeria was not the structure but the process of doing things.
Mr. Buhari argued that the country had tried many political systems in the past and had dumped them because they failed.
He explained that if things were done properly by all citizens, the country would perform better.
But, former Gov. Musa said the problem with Nigeria has always been leadership rather than structures, explaining that regional system failed because leaders were pursuing secessionist agenda.
Although he aligned with President Buhari’s position that the process of governance needs to be improved upon, he faulted the economic system being operated currently.
Mr. Musa said the economy was in the hands of the private sector, hence the impoverishment of the masses, and suggested the restructuring of the economy to ensure that the government plays a greater role.
“The economy should be restructured. What we are operating now in which the economy is in private hands cannot help us.

Sagay: Buhari’s Critics Over Dead Men’s Appointment Are Lilliputians b
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 03:12 PM - No Replies

Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) chairman Prof Itse Sagay (SAN) yesterday slammed those criticising President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for naming dead men among board appointees.
He described the critics as Lilliputians, saying they were idle minds complaining over nothing.
Sagay said the outrage amounts to making a mountain out of a molehill.
To him, the Presidency could not be genuinely faulted in the circumstance.
The professor of law said he was even angry with the Presidency for appearing to be apologetic over the development.
Sagay told our correspondent: “What I find irritating is the so-called outrage by the Nigerian elite that in a list of almost 3,000 people nominated for various agencies, five or six had died.
“And there is a general pretence by the Nigerian elite that it was of huge, monumental importance; that it shows incompetence and all that.
“I ask myself: a list that has been under compilation for over two years, revised and re-revised, do they expect that about 3,000 people would all still be alive after two years?
“If not, do they expect the Presidency to go knocking from door to door 24 hours before the announcement to ask who was dead or alive, or to ask if they would survive until the announcement? Are they supposed to have done that?
“So, the whole thing (criticisms) is extremely unreasonable.”
Sagay said the critics reminded him of Lilliput and Blefuscu, fictional island nations that appear in the first part of the 1726 novel, Gulliver’s Travel,by Jonathan Swift.
“In the book, the nations are inhabited by tiny people who are about one-twelfth the height of ordinary humans. They went to war. What did they go to war for?
“Lilliput believes an egg should be broken from the small end before it is eaten, while Belfuscu believes it should be broken from the big end.
“This gives the impression that the Nigerian elite are filled with Lilliputians, who quarrel over nothing and ignore major issues of importance. And I call this collective stupidity and idleness of the mind,” Sagay said.
Asked if the Presidency should not have verified the list and ensured the appointees were ready, and whether he was absolving the Presidency of blame completely, Sagay said: “I am absolving them of every blame.
“And I am very annoyed with the Presidency for looking apologetic over it. As I said, we’re talking about 3,000 people.
“At what stage should they be checking? Can they verify 3,000 names in 24 hours? Suppose they do it one week before announcement and someone died in-between? Is it their fault too?
“So, since nobody can guarantee life, out of 3,000 within two years, there is nothing unreasonable about that.
“Those vacancies will be filled, and Nigerians should stop quarrelling over nothing and start taking on more important things. They should not behave like idle minds.”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), former Education Minister Dr Oby Ezekwesili, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, and the President of the Campaign for Democracy (CD), Usman Abdul, are among those who criticised President Buhari and the APC for including names of dead men on the boards’ list.
ACF’s National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Muhammad Biu said: “The recent appointments of persons into various boards of parastatals and agencies of the Federal Government by the Presidency, where names of dead persons appeared on the list as published by the media clearly shows that due diligence was not employed.
“The ACF, therefore, calls for proper screening of persons being considered for appointment into various departments and agencies of government in order to avoid such embarrassing incident.”
Dr. Ezekwesili, in a series of tweets, said she was disappointed by the Presidency.
“Some ‘mistakes’ are simply indefensible. Who is that defending that a significant # (2, 3 or 4? Which? ) of dead people are on an appointment list of the FG .@AsoRock that the President, @MBuhari signed off on? Haba. This is the height of what Feyi calls, “anyhowness.” #Tragic,” she stated.
PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan said the error confirmed the party’s position that the APC “administration is completely confused, disorganised and grossly incompetent”.
“Nigerians can now see why the nation’s economy has been in shambles in the last two years. When we say that this government is completely inept, some Nigerians did not know to which level, but now they do.
“This inability to tidy up a simple issue of list of 209 appointees has completely exposed the extent the APC government is bereft of simple organisational skills to manage a country like Nigeria, which is in dire need of development,” PDP said.

700 Boko Haram Captives Have Escaped - Nigerian Army
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 09:38 AM - No Replies

Are Our News Station Gagged 700 Boko Haram Escaped, And Channels Is Quiet
Today 5 Solders killed with many kidnapped (dailytrust)
and 700 bokoharam escaped, why isnt this headline in any of the television station??
The Nigerian army says more than 700 people held by Boko Haram militants in the north-east of the country have escaped captivity.
An army spokesperson, Col Timothy Antigha, said they had fled several islands in Lake Chad and arrived in the town of Monguno, in Borno state.
There has been no independent verification of the army's claim.
A BBC correspondent says the escapes are likely to have happened over a period of time, not in one go.
The military says a recent armed forces operation, Deep Punch II, has weakened Boko Haram.
In his New Year address, President Muhammadu Buhari said the group had been "beaten".
In a post on the HQ Nigerian Army Facebook page, Col Antigha said the 700 comprised "farmers, fishermen and members of their families who were hitherto held by Boko Haram terrorists as farm workers".
He said the recent operation "was targeted at destroying Boko Haram infrastructure and logistics; such as communication centres, fabrication yards, bomb making equipment, vehicles and other means of sustenance".
The army described the escaped captives as farmers, fishermen and their families and said they were held for their labour
"The ensuing collapse of their command structure and means of survival have therefore triggered the abandonment of the islands and escape of the abductees," he wrote.
Col Antigha said the escapees were being profiled to ensure there were no militants hidden among them.
He also said two women among the escaped captives had given birth safely at a military holding facility.
Over eight years, Boko Haram's campaign of Islamist violence has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced some 2.6 million.
Despite the authorities' insistence that the group has been vanquished, in recent months Boko Haram fighters have stepped up their attacks on military and civilian targets.

Rivers New Year Massacre: Peterside Blasts Wike As Death Toll Rises
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 09:35 AM - No Replies

Quote:Death toll in the New Year massacre in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government area of Rivers State has risen to twenty one.

Reacting, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA Dakuku Peterside sympathized with the families of the deceased.

He said it was another set of death too many in a local government area that was held hostage by cult groups claiming supremacy and allegedly enjoying support from some politicians.

The NIMASA boss stated that the latest killings had once again exposed the lack of capacity and competence on the part of Governor Nyesom Wike to provide adequate security for Rivers people.

He regretted that while other parts of the state were in celebratory mood, the people of ONELGA were mourning the passing away of their beloved in the most gruesome manner.

“My heart goes the people of ONELGA and the immediate families of the deceased. This is an act that must be condemned. The good people of Omoku have suffered enough and this has dealt a further blow on their sufferings.

“I have said it time and again that Governor Wike lacks the capacity and competence to guarantee the safety and security of Rivers people. It is unfortunate that over 1,000 persons have been killed in questionable circumstances in the last two years under his watch. He should stop playing politics with the lives of Rivers people and face governance.

“Since the governor is not rising to the occasion to show competence, we will henceforth partner with all relevant security agencies to bring peace, law and order to ONELGA and other parts of Rivers State.

“This is indeed a sad day for the people of ONELGA and the only way we can assuage their feelings is to ensure that this does not happen again. Governor Wike can rise above his partisan politics and display the hallmark of a statesman by openly condemning this murderous act and stop at nothing to arrest the criminals,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command said it was yet to ascertain the number of casualties, Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni said the police were on top of the situation.

However, the authorities of ONELGA has confirmed the figures with the Council Chairman, Osi Olisah informing DAILY POST that ex Niger-Delta agitator, Johnson Igwedibia popularly called DonWanny led the attack.

Olisah also disclosed that a member of the Local vigilante and the son of the Paramount Ruler of Ego land were also killed in the attack.

The four nation’s refineries produced 204.31 million litres of petrol equivalent to 18.24 percent of the total amount sold in October 2017, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said in a statement.
Within the period, the oil company said it imported about 915.48 million litres equivalent to 81 .76 percent of the amount consumed in the country.
The NNPC spokesman, Ndu Ughamadu said, yesterday, that a breakdown of the volume of white products injected into the system showed that the 1.352.86 billion litres of products sold and distributed through its downstream subsidiary, Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), within the period was slightly higher than the 1.282.61 billion litres for September 2017.
The statement didn’t give details of what each refinery produced within the month, but that PPMC distributed 1,119.79 billion litres of petrol, 95.72 million litres of kerosene and 137.34 million litres of diesel.
“Total sale of white products for the period October 2016 to October 2017 stood at 16.18 billion litres. Petrol amounted to 14.11 billion litres and accounts for 87.22%. While total special products for October 2017 was 114.49 million litres, comprising of 63.82 million litres of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) and other special products totaling 50.67 million litres,” it said.
The report also indicated that within the same period, 1.512.02 billion litres of petrol were supplied into the country through the Direct-Sale-Direct-Purchase (DSDP) arrangements as against 886.46 million litres supplied in September 2017.
In terms of gas supply and production the report, which is the 27th in the series, stated that out of the 252.83 BCF of gas supplied in October 2017, a total of 145.03 BCF of gas was commercialized, comprising of 35.41 BCF and 109.62 BCF for the domestic and export markets respectively. This translates to an average daily supply of 1,142.15 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd) to the domestic market and 3,536.11 mmscfd of gas supplied to the export market.
About 3,136.19 mmscfd or 88.69 per cent of the export gas was sent to Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG) Bonny for October 2017 compared with the period (October 2016 to October 2017) an average of 3,066.29 mmscfd or 91.90% of the export gas.
Gas flare rate was 9.59 per cent within the period i.e. 781.77 mmscfd compared with average gas flare rate of 10.03 per cent i.e. 752.45 mmscfd for the period October 2016 to October 2017 https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/only-18-of...-nnpc.html

Mbaka to Buhari: Change or Nigerians will change you in 2019
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-02-2018, 09:15 AM - No Replies

Catholic priest and Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministries , Enugu , Rev. Fr . Ejike Mbaka, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians will ‘change ’ him in 2019 if he does not change his style of leadership .
The priest advised Buhari against seeking a second term , and warned that the President risks being ‘blown away shamefully’ by the wind of change which he set off when he defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan
Mbaka, who was hitherto one of Buhari ’s most vocal supporters , spoke during a special New Year Eve service at the Adoration Ground , in Emene , Enugu.
The fiery priest ’s ‘romance ’ with Buhari started at a similar event , on the eve of January 1 , 2015 , when he condemned the incumbent President Jonathan, in a message entitled , ‘ From good luck to bad luck.’
Mbaka had , in the sermon , asked Nigerians to reject Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2015 presidential poll and predicted Buhari ’s victory.
Buhari eventually won the election and , months after his inauguration , received Mbaka in the presidential villa .
However, subsequent statements attributed to Mbaka suggests that his support for Buhari was waning, and in 2016, he warned the President that Nigerians would not vote for him in 2019 if he did not address the high level of hunger and suffering in the country .
Mbaka not only restated the warning but went further to declare that Buhari was ‘toying’ with the victory he won in 2015 , in a fiery sermon on Sunday night.
He declared that if Buhari did not ‘sit up,’ another person would take his office.
Expressing dissatisfaction with Buhari ’s leadership , the priest noted that 2017 was one of the most horrible years in Nigeria ’s history, and demanded that the President change his ‘change agenda ’, which he described as questionable.
Mbaka, who had in the past faulted the President for not appointing the right people and listening to the wrong advice , said the hardship in the country was foisted on Nigerians by a cabal that had ‘kidnapped ’ the President .
The cleric , who declared that Nigerians would soon be rescued from ‘captivity ,’ urged Buhari , who , according to him, “is in trouble, to immediately do away with the wrong people ” he surrounded himself with.
Noting that ‘ God forced him to speak out ,’ Mbaka said, “I had wanted to pray for you (Buhari ) and go because I don ’ t want anybody to attack me , I don’ t want the Bishop to invite me , I don ’ t want politicians to attack me anywhere . But God forced me , you must say http://punchng.com/mbaka-to-buhari-chang...u-in-2019/ .

Zimbabwean Groom Fails To Show Up At Wedding Venue Faking Illness (Pics)

Quote:A family from Bulawayo’s Mzilikazi suburb was humiliated in front of the world as the groom failed to pitch up after failing to pay for the venue and faking illness.

Phathisani Hlabangana, a Kalawa Jazmee production employee left his bride Jacky Moyo embarrassed and in tears when he did not make it to the wedding venue.

The wedding was scheduled for 24 December 2017.

Despite pretending to be on his deathbed on the wedding day, he was on the following day spotted up and about at the Kalawa Homecoming gig.

According to a family source, all arrangements had been made and it had been arranged that the two families of the bride and groom share the wedding expenses.

Moyo promised to pay for all expenses such as catering, cakes and all, while Hlabangana was left with only paying for the venue.

According to the family insider who asked for anonymity they suspected that the bride was the one who wanted the wedding as Hlabangana had dragged his feet from the onset.

“We suspect that Moyo is the one who forced Hlabangana to marry her because she volunteered to pay all the expenses except for the venue that was supposed to be paid by Hlabangana,” she said.

The source also revealed that Hlabangana fooled Moyo as he showed her money which was meant to cover Kalawa the Homecoming gig expenses claiming to be his.

“MaMo was shocked when the wedding venue people phoned her asking about their money because Hlabangana had showed him a bag full of money saying everything was under control.

“On the wedding day he never turned up and was not answering his phone,” said the source.

When contacted for comment, Moyo told B-Metro that she was not in a position to comment and she did not want the story to be published.

“At the moment I am not in a good state of mind to talk about this whole drama,” said Moyo.

B-Metro also talked to the mother of the bride who confirmed the cancellation of the wedding.

“I know people were not happy that my daughter was getting married, anyway it’s life, bad things happen unexpectedly,” said the visibly stressed woman.

She even showed the reporters the five-tier wedding cake which was on the dining table.

Hlabangana denied the allegations saying that the wedding was cancelled after he fell ill and not that he failed to pay for the venue.

“The rumours are not true. What happened is I fell sick on the wedding day and we were forced to cancel the wedding,” said Hlabangana.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*ORDAINED TO BE PRODUCTIVE .*

Tuesday, January 2nd .
Pastor Chris

_*And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1:3).*_

Jesus brought us into a life of power, fruitfulness, and productivity. This truth is expressed in John 15:16 where He said, _*“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”*_ He lets you know that you’ve been chosen, ordained, commissioned and appointed to bring forth lasting results.

This means He has made you efficient and effective: _*“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”*_ (Acts 1:8 AMPC). This is the mind-set with which you must approach every assignment this year. There’s increased grace for you. The Lord is at work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).

Read again the Psalmist’s beautiful description of this extraordinary life of productivity and excellence that God has brought you into: _*“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”*_ (Psalm 1:3). Make this your daily contemplation and confession. Declare every so often, “I’m like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and I produce excellent results. I’m fruitful and productive!”

You can do anything; you can be anything; you can get anything; you can go anywhere; you can be what you choose to be. This is the life God has given you; it’s a life of righteousness with dominion, where you honour and please Him by being fruitful in every good work, as you increase in the knowledge of Him.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m strengthened, fortified, and energized for victory, success and excellence through the power of God’s Word, and the might of the Spirit. I’m ordained unto a life of fruitfulness and productivity, flourishing in the courts of the Lord, bringing Him honour, and bearing abundant fruits unto Him in righteousness. Blessed be God!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Psalm 92:12-15* The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the LORD [is] upright: [he is] my rock, and [there is] no unrighteousness in him. *||*

*||* *Proverbs 11:28* He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. *||*

*||* *Jeremiah 17:7-8* Blessed [is] the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and [that] spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. *||*

A pastor has claimed on social media that some Muslim men attacked his church as well as others during the cross-over service this morning.

Details are quite sketchy right now.. But the pastor identified as Ibitoye Reuben Idowu listed about 4 churches that were victims of the attack.

He listed them as; “St Joseph Catholic Cathedral, Methodist Cathedral, CAC, and UMCA Hausa Churches.” He shared pictures taken this morning from the scene of the attack and wrote;

Quote:“Muslims attacked our churches during cross over this morning, many are injured, church auditoriums, and cars were destroyed, while many innocent girls were raped. The churches include : St Joseph Catholic Cathedral, Methodist Cathedral, CAC, and UMCA Hausa Churches.”

Nigeria To Ban Rice Importation This Year – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-01-2018, 07:59 PM - No Replies

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that his administration will ban rice import in 2018.

The president said this in his New Year broadcast on Monday.

He said, “We have got to get used to discipline and direction in economic management. The days of business as usual are numbered.

“Two years ago I appealed to people to go back to the land. I am highly gratified that agriculture has picked up, contributing to the government’s effort to re-structure the economy.

“Rice imports will stop this year. Local rice, fresher and more nutritious will be on our dishes from now on.

“By the same token, I am today appealing to enterprising Nigerians with ideas and unemployed graduates and other able-bodied and literate men and women with ideas not to just sit and wait for employment from the government or the Organized Private Sector.

“Great nations are built by enterprising people who turn their hands to anything that circumstances dictate.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*WALK IN HIS LIGHT .*

Monday, January 1st .
Pastor Chris

_*In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (John 1:4-5).*_

In John 8:12, Jesus said, _*“…I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”*_ Again, in John 9:5, He said, _*“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”*_ Light is that which defines, describes and illumines. In Psalm 119:105 the Psalmist writes, _*“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”*_

To live without Christ is to live in gross darkness and utter hopelessness. You can’t even know yourself outside Him, for only in Him—His light—is your true identity and personality revealed. The Bible says with Him is the fountain of life: in His light shall we see light (Psalm 36:9). Hallelujah!

If you use all the lights in the world to define your life, you’re sure to see things that you don’t like. But under His light, you’re excellent and full of glory. God’s light—His Word—shows who you are, what you have, and your abilities in Christ. You may use the X-rays and see the human bones or anatomy, but only the Word shows the greater One that lives in you.

Apart from showing you your endowments and rights in Christ, the Word also produces in you such changes that are consistent with the message it bears. Moreso, the Word leads and directs you in God’s perfect will for your life, imparting you with the wisdom to fulfill it.

As you study God’s Word and meditate therein, you’ll have light as to the specific things you’re supposed to do this new year. You’ll have light as to the goals to set, and the definite steps to take in actualizing those goals. You’ll have the insight and knowledge to deal excellently in all your affairs. You’ll walk in success, health, prosperity, peace, and strength if you would walk in, and see by God’s Light—His Word.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m walking in the path of life, fulfilling God’s perfect will for my life. The light of God is in my spirit, to know, and walk in my inheritance in Christ Jesus. Thank you blessed Father, for guiding me by your light, in the path of greatness and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 1ST JANUARY.
I affirm that the wilderness has become a fruitful ground, and the dry land; a river flowing ground. There's life on everything that is connected to me. There's no death or barrenness in my world; a little one shall become more than a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: the Spirit of the LORD has caused all these to spring up. Hallelujah! I am not an ordinary person; I am full of divine life! None of my word falls to the ground without results. I am a blessing everywhere I go and there's no nation that will ever deprive me of an entrance. My voice will be heard around the nations of the world. Hallelujah! The anointing to flourish, spread (Mimshack - Dunamis) is at work in me. It doesn't matter the level I am now, it won't take me long, I will become number one by reason of the Mimshack anointing that resides on the inside of me. There's nothing that I get involved or do that will fail. Men shall travel from afar to see the manifestation of the glory of God in my life. Hallelujah! Even as I speak now, angels are dispatched on my behalf. Glory to God!

Morning Devotional For Sunday 31st December

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*LOOK AHEAD .*

Sunday, December 31st .
Pastor Chris

_*…but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before (Philippians 3:13).*_

There’s so much the Lord has in store for you to enjoy in the coming year. Look forward to the New Year with faith and joy, for greater glory lies ahead, and it completely outshines the victories and triumphs of yesterday. Refuse to allow the seeming failures, weaknesses, and disappointments you may have experienced dissipate your enthusiasm and faith to win.

Set your goals and focus on the Spirit and His Word. Don’t focus on the past. Look ahead. Raise your vision. The regrets of yesterday and the fear of tomorrow are enemies of today’s happiness. Position yourself aright for a triumphant life by keeping your gaze on, and living in the Word. Refuse to give up on your dreams.

Proverbs 4:18 says, _*“…the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”*_ Believe and affirm this as the reality of your life. You can only make progress as a child of God. Your journey in life is upward and forward only; no disappointments, because _*“…we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”*_ (Romans 8:28).

Cheer up! The future is bright. You have nothing to fear. The Lord has already made the crooked paths straight; therefore, you’ll triumph in the coming year. He said in John 16:33, _*“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”*_

See yourself making greater impact with the Gospel in the coming year. See yourself in health, joy, and prosperity. See yourself walking in righteousness and producing works and fruits of righteousness. See yourself fulfilling the will of the Father, pleasing Him in all things as you receive and run with the Word for the year.

Make certain to participate live in our December 31 st New Year’s Eve Service in your Church, online at http://pastorchrisonline.org or via major satellite and terrestrial TV stations, and designated viewing centres around the world.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m strong and very courageous, standing firm in faith, reaching out and apprehending the glories that lie ahead. My path is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. I’m walking in righteousness and producing works and fruits of righteousness. Blessed be God!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Isaiah 43:18-20 MSG* "Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history. 19 Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new. It's bursting out! Don't you see it? There it is! I'm making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. 20 Wild animals will say 'Thank you!'--the coyotes and the buzzards--Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, *||*

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 31ST DECEMBER.
I affirm that the Word of God will never fail in my life! My heart is a fertile ground for the Word of God and every seed of the Word, planted in my heart is producing great and mighty results. I am confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in me, is faithful to complete it. My life is full of the glory of God and I succeed in all endeavors because the Holy Spirit who is the essence of life, beauty, and glory has taken His abode in me. Today, I go forth with confidence knowing that I am backed by deity. Even in the coming year, I walk in prosperity, victory, and health because I live in God’s Word. I am literally transfigured into the image that I see in the Word, as I meditate and yield my mind to the tutelage of the Word. My attitude, mindset and belief systems are transformed, and my life and character, improved and upgraded. The Spirit of God has granted me divine speed and insight, and I am far ahead! That which will take many ten years to accomplish, I am empowered by the Spirit of God to accomplish in a split second. I am set on the course in which I must follow; therefore, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a goodly heritage. Glory to God!

PDP Reacts To Appointment Of Dead People Into Government Agencies
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-30-2017, 09:55 PM - No Replies

@POLITICSNGR
The Peoples Democratic party has reacted to the appointment of 6 dead people as board members and chairmen of government agencies by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement signed by the national publicity secretary, PDP, the party mocked the ruling APC, stating that 'a government that is appointing dead people cannot rule Nigeria'. The statement read;
"Nigerians can now see why the nation’s economy has been in shambles in the last two years. When we say that this government is completely inept, some Nigerians did not know to which level, but now they do.
This inability to tidy up a simple issue of list of 209 appointees has completely exposed the extent the APC government is bereft of simple organizational skills to manage a country like Nigeria, which is in dire need of development.
How on earth can a government that cannot compile a common list handle intricate issues of national planning and budgeting; issues of health, education, aviation, agriculture, infrastructure and management of the huge civil service?"
How can they possibly initiate and successfully implement national and international instruments for national development in today’s competitive world?
This also explains why nothing has been working under the APC government. Furthermore, the mix up in the list also exposes the corruption in the APC government.
The fact is that the government of our dear country has been in wrong hands in the last two years and the situation will continue to worsen unless the nation is rescued from them in 2019.
Finally, we urge Nigerians to disregard the lame excuses by the APC government and hold them responsible for the woes that have befallen our country under their inept and undesirable regime.”

Police debunk alleged poaching of aircraft at Lagos airport
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation

The Murtala Muhammed Airport ,Lagos, Police Command, has debunked the recent allegations of poaching of aircrafts and stealing of baggage at the airport leveled against its personnel.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Joseph Alabi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that the allegations could not be substantiated by those making them.
NAN recalls that two incidents of alleged poaching were recently reported, the latest being that which was said to have occurred on a chartered flight from Uyo to Lagos on Dec. 26.
However, Alabi said the command, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other security agencies, were still investigating the alleged incidents.
According to him, so far, the purported victims have failed to appear before the inter-agency committee and have also not lodged any complaint with the police.
He said: “if anything of such happens at the airport, the victim is expected to report it to the police, but nobody has come to us to make any such report.
“We have our officers who patrol the airside with the FAAN security operatives and it is practically impossible for anyone to burgle an aircraft in motion as being alleged.’’
Alabi urged travelers and other airport users not to fret over the allegations, stressing that the command was adequately prepared and equipped to guarantee their security, especially during this festive season. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/police-deb...rport.html

$1bn ECA insurgency fund illegal, says Wike
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-30-2017, 10:41 AM - No Replies

Rivers State Governor , Nyesom Wike , on Friday described as illegal the recent approval by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for the Federal Government to withdraw $ 1 bn from the Excess Crude Account to fight insurgency .
Wike stated this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa , Abuja .
He said although he was in support of the fight against insurgency , the approval remained illegal .
The governor said, “For me, it (the approval) is illegal . However, we are talking about fighting insurgency and no right thinking individual will say that he will not support the government to fight insurgency .
“But on the other hand, I believe that we have been talking about the environmental issues in the Niger Delta, particularly in Ogoni land.
“I believe that we can also take the same money from the excess crude account to fund the problem in Ogoni land and other Niger Delta areas . That is my position . ”
The governor disclosed that his discussion with the President bordered on security and other developmental issues in his state.
“I’ m happy with the discussion and I believe that something has to be done about (security ) in it.
“(It was) nothing political , just security issues that affects the state and things that may lead to the breakdown of law and order.
“We talked about security challenges and he received me very well. We don’ t have any bad relationship, I come here when he asks me to come ,” he said. http://punchng.com/1bn-eca-insurgency-fu...says-wike/

Why Musa isn’t playing in my team – Leicester boss
User Avatar Forum: Sports World
Posted by: Edoman - 12-30-2017, 10:18 AM - No Replies

Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa isn’t getting any action in Leicester City due to the massive competition for places according to manager Claude Puel.
Musa, 25, joined Leicester in July 2016 for a then club record fee of £16m, but has played just once this season.
Puel says he is one of several players whose futures will be reviewed when the transfer window opens in January.
“He’s a good player with quality. For me he’s not a striker, he’s a winger who can play on the left or right,” Puel explained.
“He can attack space, has good penetration but there’s imbalance in competition with (Marc) Albrighton, (Demarai) Gray and (Riyad) Mahrez.
“Sometimes it’s tough, it’s difficult for the staff to make a choice and give him more game time but in training sessions he always has a positive attitude and this is very important for him and the squad.”
Musa scored in his only appearance for the club this season in a 4-1 EFL Cup win over Sheffield United in August.
Musa will be considering his future as he will be hoping to force his way into the Nigeria squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/why-musa-i...-boss.html
