Stephanie Otobo Confesses, Apologizes To Apostle Suleman: "Politicians Paid Me"

Breaking News!!!

Stephanie Otobo confesses: I was used and paid against Apostle Suleman.

Right before our eyes in the Fire & Miracle Night of Omega Fire Ministries’ International Worship Centre Auchi, the serial accuser & blackmailer; Stephanie Otobo, apologises to God’s Servant Apostle Johnson Suleman, his family, Church and the Body of Christ for the shameless show of deceits & lies, she and their paymasters embarked on sometime in 2017.

The only offense he committed was to have intervened in the numerous heinous crimes against the Church of Christ around the Nation and became a Voice for the Gospel. What followed was a well - doctored drama to attack the reputation of this Golden Voice and seemingly reduce the volume of his voice even as more evils were planned against the Church.

After all the evil efforts, the secret agendas, the heavily funded set up and the unrelenting pursuits to snare an innocent man, they were futile.

THE MASTER PLANNER HAS FINALLY VINDICATED HIS CHURCH & HIS SERVANT.

This is not only a victory for God's Servant; it is a victory for the Body of Christ & The Church in Nigeria.

Morning Devotional For Sunday 28th January

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FEBRUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*CHOSEN TO KNOW GOD’S WORD .*

Sunday, January 28th .
Pastor Chris

_*And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15).*_

After Saul’s encounter with the Lord on his way to Damascus, God sent Ananias, a devout man according to the law, to him, with these words: _*“…The God of our fathers HATH CHOSEN THEE, THAT THOU SHOULDEST KNOW HIS WILL, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth”*_ (Acts 22:14). Saul, who later became the apostle Paul, isn’t on the scene today, but you are; so, this is the Word of the Lord to you, because Jesus said, _*“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”*_ (Matthew 24:35).

More so, God is the Father of spirits; He addresses the human spirit, which is eternal. When God speaks, you ought to know whether He’s revealing principles or He’s saying something that only a particular person can act upon. The Lord wanted Saul to know he was chosen to know His will—the Word.

Do you realize that you’ve been chosen also to know the will of God? This isn’t about being chosen to handle a particular assignment or responsibility. This is God choosing you to unveil His Word to your spirit. For example, it was God-ordained that you’d be studying this devotional today. If God never chose you to receive the blessed words, these spiritual revelations, you’ll never receive them.

God chose you through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit that He may unveil truths to your spirit: _*“Who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit... ”*_ (1 Peter 1:2 NIV). He foreknew you and separated you unto Himself to know His will; it’s the reason you can never walk in confusion. It’s the reason you can know God in your spirit. He’s flooded your spirit with light; the light of His Word, that you may know and walk in His perfect will.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for choosing me to know your will. I’m rooted and grounded in your Word, producing fruits of righteousness, for your glory. There’s no cause for stumbling in my path, because your Word lightens my way, and in my path, there’s no darkness, but life, peace and success, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

Suspected Boko Haram Kingpin, Amaechi O, Arrested In Germany
[Image: download.jpg]
A 27-year-old Nigerian man suspected of being a member of Boko Haram and killing people in Nigeria during attacks on schools and a village has been arrested in Germany, the federal prosecutor said on Friday.

The man, named as Amaechi Fred O., was detained on Wednesday in Bavaria and a day later a judge issued an arrest warrant and ordered that he be remanded in custody, the chief federal prosecutor said in a statement.

“He is strongly suspected of being a member of the foreign terrorist organisation Boko Haram,” the statement said.

It said Amaechi Fred O. was believed to have joined Boko Haram in 2013 and had admitted to actively taking part in four attacks against Nigerian civilians during his one-year membership of the group.

He is accused of killing several people during two attacks on schools and one attack on a village and taking part in another attack on a village, during which members of Boko Haram took girls as hostages and burned down a church.

Boko Haram has been trying since 2009 to establish an Islamic state in northeast Nigeria, from where it has launched attacks and suicide bombings in Niger, Chad and Cameroon. More than 15,000 people have been killed and millions displaced.

Davos 2018: President Trump's Full Speech To world Leaders At The 2018 World Economic Forum
[Image: trump-davos.jpg]
U.S President Donald Trump delivered a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

In the approximately 15-minute long address, Trump hailed America's economic success from his first year in office but did not address the bombshell report that he had tried to fire the special prosecutor, Robert Mueller who is leading the investigation into the alleged Russia meddling of the 2016 elections.

Trump boasted that, since his election, 2.4 million jobs has been created, and that number is going up very, very substantially

Read the full speech below;

It's a privilege to be at this forum where leaders in business, art, diplomacy and world affairs have gathered for many, many years to discuss how we can advance prosperity, security and peace.

I'm here today to represent the interests of the American people and to affirm America's friendship and partnership in building a better world. Like all nations represented at this great forum, America hopes for a future in whichever one can prosper and every child can grow up free from violence, poverty and fear.

Over the past year, we have made extraordinary strides in the US. We're lifting up forgotten communities, creating exciting new opportunities and helping every American find their path to the American dream: the dream of a great job, a safe home and a better life for their children.

After years of stagnation, the United States is once again experiencing strong economic growth. The stock market is smashing one record after another and has added more than $7 trillion in new wealth since my election. Consumer confidence, business confidence and manufacturing confidence are the highest they have been in many decades.

Since my election, we've created 2.4 million jobs, and that number is going up very, very substantially. Small business optimism is at an all-time high. New unemployment claims are near the lowest we've seen in almost half a century. African-American unemployment has reached the lowest rate ever recorded in the United States and so has unemployment among Hispanic Americans.

The world is witnessing the resurgence of a strong and prosperous America. I'm here to deliver a simple message: there has never been a better time to hire, to build, to invest and to grow in the United States. America is open for business, and we are competitive once again. The American economy is by far the largest in the world, and we've just enacted the most significant tax cuts and reform in American history.

We've massively cut taxes for the middle class and small businesses to let working families keep more of their hard-earned money. We lowered our corporate tax rate from 35% all the way down to 21%. As a result, millions of workers have received tax cut bonuses from their employers in amounts as large as $3,000. The tax cut bill is expected to raise the average American's household income by more than $4,000.

The world's largest company, Apple, announced it plans to bring $245 billion in overseas profits home to America. Their total investment into the United States economy will be more than $350 billion over the next five years. Now is the perfect time to bring your business, your job and your investments to the United States. This is especially true because we have undertaken the most extensive regulatory reduction ever conceived.

Regulation is stealth taxation. The US, like many other countries, unelected bureaucrats -- we have, believe me, we have them all over the place. And they've imposed crushing anti-business and anti-worker regulations on our citizens with no vote, no legislative debate and no real accountability. In America, those days are over. I pledged to eliminate two unnecessary regulations for every one new regulation. We have succeeded beyond our highest expectations.

Instead of two-for-one, we have cut 22 burdensome regulations for every one new rule. We are freeing our businesses and workers so they can thrive and flourish as never before. We are creating an environment that attracts capital, invites investment and rewards production. America is the place to do business. So come to America where you can innovate, create and build. I believe in America. As President of the United States I will always put America first, just like the leaders of other countries should put their country first, also.

But America first does not mean America alone. When the United States grows, so does the world. American prosperity has created countless jobs all around the globe and the drive for excellence, creative and innovation in the US has led to important discoveries that help people everywhere live more prosperous and far healthier lives.

As the United States pursuing domestic reforms to unleash jobs and growth, we are also working to reform the international trading system so that it promotes broadly shared prosperity and rewards to those who play by the rules. We cannot have free and open trade if some countries exploit the system at the expense of others. We support free trade, but it needs to be fair and it needs to be reciprocal.

Because in the end, unfair trade undermines us all, the United States will no longer turn a blind eye, including massive international property theft, industrial subsidies and pervasive state-led economic planning. These and other predatory behaviors are distorting the global markets and harming businesses and workers not just in the US, but around the global, just like we expect the leaders of other countries to protect their interests.

As President of the United States, I will always protect the interest of our country, our companies and our workers. We will enforce our trade laws and restore integrity to our trading system. Only by insisting on fair and reciprocal trade can we create a system that works not just for the US, but for all nations. As I have said, the United States is prepared to negotiate mutually beneficial, bilateral trade agreements with all countries. This will include the countries in TPP, which are very important. We have agreements with several of them already.

We would consider negotiating with the rest, either individually or perhaps as a group if it is in the interest of all. My administration is also taking swift action in other ways to restore American confidence and independence. We are lifting self-imposed restrictions on energy production to provide affordable power to our citizens and businesses and to promote energy security for our friends all around the world.

No country should be held hostage to a single provider of energy. America is roaring back, and now is the time to invest in the future of America. We have dramatically cut taxes to make America competitive. We are eliminating burdensome regulations at a record pace. We are reforming the bureaucracy to make it lean, responsive and accountable, and we are ensuring our laws are enforced fairly. We have the best colleges and universities in the world and we have the best workers in the world. Energy is abundant and affordable. There has a better time to do business in America. We are also making historic investments in the American military because we cannot have prosperity without security.

To make the world safer from rogue regimes, terrorism and revisionist powers, we are asking our friends and allies to invest in their own defenses and to meet their financial obligations. Our common security requires everyone to contribute their fair share. My administration is proud to have led historic efforts at the United Nations Security Counsel and all around the world to unite all civilized nations in our campaign of maximum pressure to de-nuke the Korean peninsula. We continue to call on partners to confront Iran's support for terrorists and block Iran's path to a nuclear weapon.

We're also working with allies and partners to destroy jihad into terrorist organizations such as ISIS, and very successfully so. The United States is leading a very broad coalition to deny terrorists control of their territory and populations, to cut off their funding and to discredit their wicked ideology. I am pleased to report that the coalition to defeat ISIS has retaken almost 100% of the territory once held by these killers in Iraq and Syria. There is still more fighting and work to be done and to consolidate our gains.

We are committed to ensuring that Afghanistan never again becomes a safe haven for terrorists who want to commit mass murder to our civilian populations. I want to thank those nations represented here today that have joined in these crucial efforts. You're not just securing your own citizens, but saving lives and restoring hope for millions and millions of people. When it comes to terrorism, we will do whatever is necessary to protect our nation. We will defend our citizens and our borders.

We are also securing our immigration system as a matter of both national and economic security. America is a cutting-edge economy. But our immigration system is stuck in the past. We must replace our current system of extended family chain migration with a merit-based system of admissions that selects new arrivals based on their ability to contribute to our economy, to support themselves financially and to strengthen our country.

In rebuilding America, we are also fully committed to developing our workforce. We are lifting people from dependence to independence because we know the single best anti-poverty program is a very simple and very beautiful paycheck. To be successful, it is not enough to invest in our economy. We must invest in our people. When people are forgotten, the world becomes fractured. Only by hearing and responding to the voices of the forgotten can we create a bright future shared by all. The nation's greatness is more than the sum of its production. A nation's greatness is the sum of its citizens, the values, pride, love, devotion and character of the people who call that nation home.

From my first international G7 summit to the G20 to the UN general assembly to APEC, to the World Trade Organization and today at the World Economic Forum, my administration has not only been present, but has driven our message that we are all stronger when free, sovereign nations cooperate toward shared goals and cooperate toward shared dreams. Represented in this room are some of the remarkable citizens from all over the world. You are national leaders, business titans, industry giants and many of the brightest minds in many fields.

Each of you has the power to change hearts, transform lives and shape your countries' destinies. With this power comes an obligation, however, a duty of loyalty to the people, workers and customers who have made you who you are. So together let us resolve to use our power, our resources, and our voices not just for ourselves but for our people, to lift their burdens, to raise their hopes and empower their dreams, to protect their families, their communities, their histories and their futures. That's what we're doing in America and the results are totally unmistakable.

It's why new businesses and investment are flooding in. It's why our unemployment rate is the lowest its been in so many decades. it's why America's future has never been brighter. Today, I'm inviting all of you to become part of this incredible future we are building together. Thank you to our hosts, thank you to our hosts, to the leaders and innovators in the audience, but most importantly, thank you to all of the hardworking the men and women who do their duty every day making this a better world for everyone. Together, let us send our love and gratitude to make them, because they really make our countries run. They make our countries great. Thank you and God bless you all.

Dana Air Plane Hits Fence, Aircraft’s Pilot Blamed For The Incident

Dana Air Plane Hits Fence, Aircraft’s Pilot Blamed For The Incident
[Image: dana_air-AVIATION-PAGE-6.jpg]
In less than 24 hours after a chartered aircraft lost its tyres and landing gear at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, another plane, a commercial aircraft belonging to Dana Air, used its left wing to hit a fence at the facility on Friday.

It was gathered that Dana flight, with registration number 5N-DEV from Port Harcourt, brushed the fence while trying to park after it landed at the NAIA.

Sources at the airport and passengers onboard the flight told our correspondent that no injury was recorded, but blamed the aircraft’s pilot for the incident.

Narrating what happened, a source said, “The Dana plane hit its wing on a fence while trying to park after it landed at the airport. This happened around 4.30pm and the number of the aircraft is 5N-DEV. The plane came into Abuja from Port Harcourt. The plane has not been towed up till this moment (5.33pm).

From what we see on the ground, it’s like the pilot is the one at fault because he has refused to disembark from the plane. All the passengers have disembarked without any injury, but the pilot is still on the plane right now as I speak with you. After he landed the plane, he moved the aircraft to where it should be parked but struck an iron fence in the process.”

The source added, “Officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria are on the ground to either tow the aircraft or work on it, depending on the extent of the damage and they want to use a NAHCO tow van. The part that brushed and entered the fence was the left wing of the aircraft.

The pilot should be blamed because from every indication he did not listen or follow instructions by the aircraft marshaller. The marshaller was directing the Air Peace aircraft in front of the Dana plane, but the pilot refused to wait for the Air Peace plane and went ahead to park on his own. This resulted in the incident because if he had waited, this wouldn’t have happened.”

The spokesperson for FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, confirmed the development but stated that the plane only hit a noise breaker stationed on the tarmac.

She said, “There are these things we put on the air side that we call noise breakers to stop noise and exhaust from getting to people. It is not really a fence, but they are just there like pillars to reduce noise and fumes from exhaust pipes and the plane just scrapped it and continued on its way.

“So there is nothing to worry about the incident. It didn’t affect the flight, the plane continued and it parked. It was the wing that scrapped the noise breaker and the plane continued until it parked.”

The spokesperson for Dana Air, Ezenwa Okwudili, said the firm’s engineers were working on the aircraft to ascertain the extent of the damage on the plane.
It is the wing tip that was affected and our engineers are looking at it to determine the extent of the damage. They will work on it tonight (Friday night) and I don’t think the aircraft was parked where it will obstruct anything. It’s a tip of the wing and not a serious issue,” he said.

His Word Is The Answer.

Saturday, January 27th .

Pastor Chris

_*Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:-20).*_

The Word of God is the power of God. That power produces healing and health for the one who’s sick. If you were in a church service for example, sitting under the ministry or influence of the Word, and you desired healing for your body, you don’t need to wait for any special moment of prayer. There’s healing for you in the Word. The healing begins the instant you open your heart to receive the Word.

Read our theme scripture again; it gives the horrid picture of those who were in trouble. But then, we read something very striking and comforting in the penultimate verse. It says, they _*“...cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.”*_ How exactly did the Lord save them? He sent His Word, and healed them! His answer to their pain and distress was His Word! That’s His answer to whatever trouble anyone is facing—His Word!

It makes no difference what the trouble is, if you’d take a hold of God’s Word, there’ll be a change. It works for sickness, disease, and infirmities, as it works for bankruptcy, failure at school, family problems, etc. We didn’t read in our theme scripture that God sent prayer to heal them; so, it wasn’t about prayer.

Maybe you’re going through some difficulties right now in your body; receive the Word of God into your spirit. Declare, “The same Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead, lives in me, and has given life to my physical body. I’m vitalized through and through by the Holy Spirit who lives in me.”

Give attention to God’s Word, and your healing will be as sure as the Word is sure. Proverbs 4:22 (MSG) says, _*“Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health.”*_

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I’ve received your Word into my spirit today, and I’m cleansed and vitalized through and through, from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. Every fibre of my being is inundated with divine life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Proverbs 4:20-22* My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. *||*

*||* *John 15:3* Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. *||*

*||* *Colossians 3:16* Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. *||*

Ex SGF, Babachir Lawal Kept At Luxurious Apartment In Wuse 2
Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the arrest and detention of the former SGF [Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal by the operatives of the EFCC [Economic and Financial Crimes Commission] on Wednesday January 24, 2018 may have been a political gimmick designed to deceive the Nigerian populace into believing the EFCC as an impartial anti-graft body.

This is as credible information revealed that the former SGF was detained at a special luxurious apartment located within the vicinity of the EFCC Headquarters in Wuse 2, Abuja. The apartment where the former SGF was supposedly detained is equipped with all amenities obtainable at most billion Naira homes in Maitama, Abuja. “He had access to plasma television equipped with DSTV, Air Conditioning, Telephone services, his driver, his mobile phones, access to the internet and access to all his associates”.
This is unlike all other EFCC suspects who are stripped of all communication gadgets, the former SGF was provided with a luxurious sleeping bed and unfettered movement around the complex. “He was not acting as someone in detention
The source who spoke to 247ureports.com recalled that the EFCC had no intention on investigating or prosecuting the former SGF. The presidential committee headed by the vice president, Osinbajo had concluded the necessary investigation required to indict the former SGF for his involvement in the N223million grass cutting contract. The investigation resulted in the ultimate sack of the former SGF. The President, in his sack of the former SGF, transferred the case file to the EFCC. “But the EFCC stayed mute”.

Our source pointed to the 13-page letter by a former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, as being the major reason behind the sudden action by the EFCC.  The former SGF agent was arrested a day after the letter was made public. The letter had complained of nepotism and weak stance against corruption – particularly when it affects the president’s associates. According to the letter, “nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members”http://247ureports.com/ex-sgf-babachir-lawal-kept-at-luxurious-apartment-in-wuse-2/

How wicked and insensitive can some women be? This woman uploaded a video of her house help Unclad just because she stole a phone and fake gold.

Such a disgrace to womanhood and motherhood. I doubt if the girl will do such if she's being taken care of properly and besides, I trust she won't do this if this girls is her own daughter.

She even claims to have a loving and caring mind

This is wickedness in high places and she ought to be arrested for doing such, because that girl is not safe with her... She's just a child for heck sake.

And to think that some fools are supporting her, I weep for the girl child in my country Nigeria.

A man has been allegedly killed by police officers at a checkpoint on his way to Zamfara state. According to Hassan Sidi, the man was driving a hilux van conveying rice when he approached customs officials at a checkpoint who allegedly requested a bribe from him.

According to information gathered, the driver and father of three children offered to give the customs agents N1000 but they declined and asked him to add extra N500. He reportedly ignored them and drove away.

The customs officials were said to have notified the police who were some meters away that a criminal with a stolen vehicle was approaching them.

On sighting the said vehicle, the police operatives at their checkpoint opened fire on him. He reportedly lost control and crashed the vehicle as he came out alive to explain he's not a thief.

The policemen were said to have shot at him again - killing him in the process.

May his soul rest in peace.

IPOB Loses Suit Against Nigerian Army To Produce Kanu.
User Avatar Forum: Politics

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application filed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) seeking to compel the Chief of Army staff to produce the missing leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu.

The trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako also over-ruled the appeal for lack of merit and proof, that the chief of army staff was indeed the last person seen with mister Nnamdi Kanu.
Counsel to IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor had prayed the court to order the Chief of Army staff to produce his client claiming that no member of Kanu’s family had seen or heard from him since September 14th, 2017.

Opposing the motion, however, General Buratai through his counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde, told the court that Kanu was not and had never been in the custody of the Nigerian army.

Ejiofor on October 17 during the trial told the court that he is looking for his client. He said he has filed a suit asking the court to compel the Nigerian Army to produce the leader of IPOB alleging that his disappearance is unconnected with the invasion of his home by the Nigerian Army on September 11, 2017.

Simon Lalong Rejects Cattle Colonies, Dumps Buhari

Quote:After all political permutations, Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, on Friday formally opened up and rejected the proposal by the Federal Government for cattle colonies.

He also described as “false, malicious and highly mischievous”, reports in the social media that he had carved out parts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas for the creation of cattle colonies.
Lalong is said to be a strong ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and had has never criticised his government or any of his wrong policies.

Political pundits say his support for the President was a ploy to get favour and give him automatic ticket for reelection in the 2019 governorship election.

Lalong in a Government House statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Dan Manjang, advised all peace-loving citizens of Plateau State to “discountenance such mischievous information” and gravitate towards issues of unity, rather than those that divide them.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has been drawn to the news making the rounds, particularly in the Social Media that parts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos LGAs have been carved out for the creation of colonies for cattle, in fulfilment of his promises to the Fulani who have pressured him, to either cede those areas or he faces the other side of their viciousness which may cost his aspirations.
The Governor herein after state unequivocally that this thinking is not only the figment of the imagination of its authors, who want to make political capital out of it, but false, malicious and highly mischievous.
“Governor Simon Bako Lalong has and does not contemplate such action and he further call on all good citizens of Plateau to bury such imagination of these elements bent on throwing the State into confusion. Cattle colonies are not in the imagination of Governor Lalong.

“Consequently, the Governor urge all peace loving citizens of Plateau State to discountenance such mischievous information but to gravitate towards issues that unite us rather than those that divide us.”

Police Ask Kwankwaso To Shelve Kano Visit

Quote:
The Kano Police Command on Friday advised a former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to stop his planned visit to Kano.

The much-awaited visit by the former governor and now a senator had raised security concerns over possible clash with supporters of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

But in a press conference, the state police commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, said although Mr Kwankwaso has right to visit the state, “credible information at the disposal of the Command” revealed that there are security concerns.

Read the full statement below..

PRESS CONFERENCE BY CP. RABIU YUSUF, psc+ THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE KANO STATE COMMAND ON FRIDAY 26TH JANUARY, 2018

Ladies and gentlemen of the Press, The attention of Kano State Police Command is drawn to the intended visit to Kano State on 30th January, 2018 by the former Executive Governor of the State and now Distinguished Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Eng. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

There is no doubt, the Senator as a citizen of this Country has the right of freedom of association, assembly and movement. However, credible information at the disposal of the Command reveals that the proposed visit has generated palpable fears in the minds of the people of Kano State.

There is apprehension amongst the general populace and the tendency to hijack the visit by some disgruntled politicians or miscreants cannot be ruled out.

Consequent upon this, the urgent need to nip the problem in the bud cannot be over-emphasized. Therefore, any action or inaction by any person or group of persons that may jeopardize the relative peace the State is enjoying must be averted. On this premise, it is the candid advice of the Command that such a visit to the State should be shelved by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso until the tension generated by the planned visit is doused and security threat neutralized.

The Command will continue to be firm, fair and just in providing a level playing ground for all political gladiators to carry out their political activities without fear of molestation and or intimidation.

Thank you all.

MAKURDI—Despite efforts by security personnel to stem the killings in Benue State, a Police officer and a farmer were, in the early hours of yesterday, killed in a fresh attack by herdsmen at Uvir Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area of state. Vanguard, yesterday, gathered that the attack left several persons hospitalised, while many others are still missing. Ortom Governor Samuel Ortom, who confirmed the killings while receiving former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, said: “Guma, my place, was attacked yesterday by herdsmen. This time they killed their victim and burnt his remains. “Early today (yesterday) a Mobile Police man was also killed in Guma by the invaders. Some persons are still missing and those injured have been hospitalised in Makurdi. “They should get these people; that is my worry because we cannot continue to live this way. “This is the time our people harvest their farm produce and also prepare for the next farming season. “About 80,000 of them have been displaced and their farms destroyed. The implication is that we may be faced with food shortages in Benue State, if not the entire country. “That is the more reason why this issue must be addressed as soon as possible, so that the people can go back to their farms.” Gov Ortom Meanwhile, the governor has insisted that he will continue to cry out until justice is done to the matter and the marauding killer-herdsmen stopped in the interest of Nigerians. Governor Ortom said: “People, who are saying that I am talking too much should give me justice and I will keep quiet. These people are not just grazing, but are coming to take over our land. “And they want me to keep quiet. How can I keep quiet? As long as there is no justice, I will continue to shout, talk and sing.” Kwankwaso’s condoles Benue people Earlier, Senator Kwankwaso, who led members of his Kwankwasiya Foundation to pay a condolence visit to the government and people of the state over the killings, said: “I join the good people of the country to condemn those who perpetrated these killings and similar acts in Nasarawa, Taraba, Adamawa and other states of the country.” Speaking on the deaths, Benue State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, said the force was investigating the killing of the farmer, stressing that “it could be an issue of culpable homicide, but it is still being investigated.” The Commissioner said his men who were on patrol in Guma council were ambushed by unknown armed men, explaining that one was shot on the leg and another was missing.

In her counter-claim to the suit (ID/ADR/374/2017), Otobo maintained that the preacher's claim that there was never an affair between them was false. Stephanie Otobo, the Canadian singer who alleged she had a romantic affair with Apostle Johnson Suleman, founder of Omega Fire Ministries, has asked the High Court in Lagos to demand an examination of the preacher's penis during the trial of the libel suit he filed against her and SaharaReporters. In her counter-claim to the suit (ID/ADR/374/2017), Otobo maintained that the preacher's claim that there was never an affair between them was false. In the counter-claim filed on her behalf by her lawyer, Festus Keyamo, Otobo denied the allegation of libel against the preacher.

Miss Otobo stated that Apostle Suleiman was aware that she is resident in Canada and not Lagos as he claimed. She explained that sometime in 2015, she called the preacher for counselling after she attended his crusade in Canada.
During the course of her phone conversation with Apostle Suleiman, she introduced herself to him that she lives in Canada, studying and working at the same time. She said she was surprised at how the pastor was flirtatious on the phone instead of providing spiritual counseling.
[Image: Stephanie-Otobo-2.JPG?itok=FEG_KMFG]Stephanie Otobo Sahara Reporters Media She further stated afterwards, Apostle Suleiman started calling her and in one of the telephone conversations, he started talking about his wife does not give him enough attention because she is too devoted to the worship of God. She claimed that it was the preacher that lured her into the amorous affair, inundating her with various cash gifts. She said she will present evidence of money transfers into her account by the preacher.
Miss Otobo said stated that she was initially scared of his proposal of an amorous relationship because she saw Apostle Suleiman as a respectable man of God. But to banish her inhibition, the pastor said he is adept at keeping secret relationships, explaining that he had had a relationship with an actress, called Daniella Okeke, as well as with others. She continued, stating that Apostle Suleiman said he bought the actress a house in Lagos and Mercedes-Benz and promised to do more for Otobo.
She added that for the preacher to demonstrate his interest in the relationship with her, Apostle Suleiman informed her of his crusade in Napoli, Italy, and invited her to come over. Miss Otobo explained that the pastor paid for her trip from Canada to Napoli, where the three-day crusade held. Five after she and the preacher started talking, he began sending cash to her through his contact in Canada.

Convinced by his commitment by the attention given to her by the preacher and cash transfers, particularly the full payment for her Napoli trip, Miss Otobo said she went to join him in Napoli, where she drenched her in affection.

She averred that while in Napoli, Apostle Suleiman gave her money to book a hotel with close to where he was officially lodged to enable him to sneak into her room at night. Miss Otobo stated that to keep her busy during the day in Napoli, the preacher gave her the sums of €2,000 and €3,000 Euros respectively on two occasions for shopping at a nearby mall. [Image: Suleman-Snapchat.jpg?itok=v5-YUnWT]Stephanie Otobo released a screenshot of a snapchat with Apostle Suleiman Sahara Reporters Media

In the Italian city, she added, they had unprotected sex and was told by the pastor that he needed more male children, as his wife only had one son for him. She denied that she has dual citizenship, as claimed by Apostle Suleiman, saying she is a Canadian citizen and a musician.

She equally denied that she told him that she does not have a means of livelihood, but it was Apostle Suleman that was giving her various sums of money. Also denied was his claim that the sums of money and gifts Apostle Suleiman gave were out of generosity or charity, as they were rewards for sexual satisfaction in various hotel rooms. Another counter-claim of Miss Otobo was in response to Apostle Suleiman's claim that there was almost a year break in communication between them, as they remained in touch through constant internet calls.
She added that she was ready to present screenshots of both of them making calls as lovers. Miss Otobo claimed that on various occasions, she had sex with Apostle Suleman over the phone during which both parties exchanged sexual pleasures by going naked while making video calls and viewing their nakedness on their handsets.
She pleaded that the various naked pictures of both of them, of which she did screenshots, especially that of the preacher's  penis exposed to her by him should be physically examined in the judge’s chambers during trial, where counsels to the parties and an independent observer appointed by the court would be present to view it and compare its unique features with the pictures of the penis to be tendered by her.
She further averred that  Apostle Suleman's claim that apart from the various cash gifts that he personally handed to her in Napoli and in the hotel at Ikeja, Lagos State, after she lost her pregnancy, the preacher personally and directly sent monies into her  UBA account (number  2031068488) more than two occasions, a statement of which she attached to her counter-claim. The money transfers to her account in Nigeria were followed by sums transferred to her in Canada through various agents in Canada.

Miss Otobo said things went awry between them when she disclosed to him that she was pregnant after the romp in Napoli. Afterwards, she said, the pastor's attitude changed in total contrast to his stated desire to have more sons. She said she was invited to Lagos by the pastor, who lodged her in a hotel and gave her a concoction that resulted in a miscarriage. He then offered money as compensation for the lost pregnancy. She equally denied the claim that she used the Police to attempt to extort Apostle Suleman, saying it was the priest that used the Police in an attempt to scare and suppress her.

The Canada-based singer alleged that the preacher kept loading her with gifts and money in the hotel room as recompense for the miscarriage, but started withdrawing from her despite the fact that she was bleeding because of the miscarriage. Attempts by her to make Apostle Suleman pay her hospital bills, she said, were futile, as the pastor continued to give her a wide berth.

Miss Otobo denied blackmailing the preacher, saying all she wanted was for him to pay her hospital bills and fulfil his promise to marry her. Efforts to get this done provoked the preacher into getting the Police to arrest, detain and subsequently charge her to court in Lagos during one of her visits to Nigeria.
Upon arrest, Miss Otobo said her phone containing the sexually explicit images of Suleman and her was seized by the Police.
Miss Otobo said what she did was to react to claims by Apostle Suleman that she was a stripper and prostitute all in a bid to discredit her, using some blogs and paid media men. She added that she only instructed her solicitors to privately write to Apostle Suleiman on his breached promise to marry her.
Miss Otobo asked the court to declare as libelous a publication on the website of Apostle Suleman's church as well as a press release he issued and caused to be published on http://www.naija.ng and the online edition of the Sun Newspaper.
The young woman is also seeking an order restraining Apostle Suleman from further publishing libelous materials against her. She is also asking the court to award aggravated and exemplary damages against the preacher from whom she also wants the court to extract a public apology.

Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says investing in virtual currencies such as bitcoin is a “risk that cannot be supported” by the apex bank.
Speaking in an interview in Abuja, Emefiele highlighted the “dangers” in bitcoin trading, saying he had commissioned the bank to carry out research into the market to understand underlying issues.
“Cryptocurrency or bitcoin is like a gamble, and there is a need for everybody to be very careful,” he said.
“We cannot as a central bank give support to situations where people risk savings to gamble.
“I have asked my colleagues in the research and monetary-policy department to study the market and get to know what the issues are.
“The central bank may in future make some very concrete pronouncements as to the direction.
Earlier in January, the [url=https://www.thecable.ng/cbn-warns-nigerians-stay-away-from-bitcoin-it-isnt-legal-tender]central bank had released a statement

Diezani Blasts EFCC: You Lack Understanding About The Powers Of A President
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-26-2018, 09:17 AM - No Replies

Quote:Diezani Alison-Madueke, former petroleum minister, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of displaying lack of understanding of the constitutional powers of a president in managing funds meant for security/intelligence agencies.
She said this in response to a report that she withdrew N1.3 billion from the account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

In a statement issued on her behalf by Clem Aguiyi, her media aide, the ex-minister said the anti-graft agency ought to seek clarity about the process for release of funds requested by security/intelligence agencies.

Quoting section 5 of the constitution, Alison-Madueke said all executive powers are vested in the president who may exercise it directly or through the vice-president or ministers.
She argued that as minister of petroleum resources, she was an appointee and delegate of the president.

“On the issue in question, the minister of petroleum resources acted on the basis of the written approvals and directives given by the president, which approvals were given after written requests from the relevant security agencies were made to the president,” she said.

“At such instances, as in fact the article clearly shows, a service chief or intelligence chief, makes a written request/appeal to Mr President outlining whatever urgent and critical security needs of the nation they consider imminently paramount, at any given point in time.

“If such a request received the approval of the president, the president may direct that the requested funds be drawn from a security budget maintained by NNPC, or that the funds be sourced from elsewhere.

“Where the president directs the minister of petroleum resources, in writing, to make the payment from the NNPC, the minister in turn, directs the GMD NNPC in writing to execute the directive of the president.

NNPC then wires the funds from one of its major foreign bank accounts, or from the CBN, directly to the stipulated account of the particular branch of the armed services, or intelligence unit, or department, that initiated the request. It is not within the powers or discretion of any minister to question, flout or disregard the written directives of the president, including that of the incumbent president.”

The former minister maintained that at no time did she interfere with this process.

“It is therefore, impossible and implausible, for any monies under such presidential directives to be diverted during the process, at least from the standpoint of the minister. Any and all amounts approved and directed by Mr. President to be paid, were executed exclusively by NNPC, directly from NNPC’s foreign and or, Central Bank of Nigeria accounts, to the stated recipients,” she said.

“Therefore, let it be very clear, that all funds disbursed by these banking institutions on behalf of NNPC are easily and openly traceable, and the process cannot and should not be utilised for the distortion of facts, vendetta or political mischief.”

Reps Ask EFCC, ICPC To Arrest Mike Adenuga
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-26-2018, 09:06 AM - No Replies

A House of Representatives ad-hoc panel yesterday resolved to issue an arrest warrant against the chairman of Globacom Nigeria, Chief Mike Adenuga for failing to honour its invitations.

The panel, which is investigating activities of telecommunications companies, said it had summoned Adenuga after making several attempts to have him appear before it were not successful.

The chairman of the committee, Rep Ahmed Abu (APC, Niger) said Adenuga’s action was an affront to the legislature, saying he ought to appear to clear issues related to financial obligations by his company.

Abu said records before the panel showed that Globacom Nigeria owes the Federal Government over N16.7 billion.

He asked both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to go after the Glo chief for holding Nigeria’s money.

“A situation where the parliament will invite an agency or organization and then it won’t come, then we’re going nowhere. Some people feel they’re too big; that they’re above the law. I’m making reference to Mr Mike Adenuga, the chairman of Glo.

“The amount of disrespect he has for the parliament is unacceptable. Yes, he’s a billionaire, but that doesn’t mean anything. Anybody can be a billionaire in the right atmosphere,” he said.

A member of the panel, Abdulrahman Shuaibu (APC, Adamawa) moved that the panel should approach the House to issue an arrest warrant against Adenuga, which was supported by all members.

Shuaibu said, “We summoned him, but he failed to appear. I want to move that in view of that, we issue an arrest warrant against him for the IGP to produce him on February 15 by 12 noon.”

Abu ruled that “The committee hereby resolves that an arrest warrant be issued against the chairman of Globacom.”

The panel would have to approach Speaker Yakubu Dogara to sign the arrest warrant for it to be effected.

Our correspondent later gathered that there was a mix up as a Glo representative that was delegated to attend the meeting went to the House standing committee on telecommunications instead of the ad-hoc committee.

When he later discovered that he was actually to appear before the ad-hoc panel, he rushed to the venue, but the meeting had ended.

A Glo source told Daily Trust that they have appealed to the panel to reconsider its decision as the non-appearance before it yesterday was not deliberate.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 26TH JANUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ WORDS OF BLESSINGS✨

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

God has already blessed you with every good thing that exists in Christ. Health, prosperity, victory, success, joy, peace, and every blessing you can imagine are already yours. You’ve already been blessed in all things, and with all things. What you need is to know how to get the blessing working in your life.

Numbers 6:22-24 gives us an idea; it says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee.” The children of Israel were already blessed, being the physical earthly seed of Abraham. Why would the priest need to bless them? It’s because the words of blessings must be pronounced on the blessed.

Notice what God did in the book of Genesis: After creating Adam and Eve, the Bible says He blessed them. How? With words! He said, “Be fruitful and multiply…” (Genesis 1:28). The example of Jesus is another case in point. Talking about His disciples, the Bible says, “And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them” (Luke 24:50) . Jesus lifted His hands and invoked blessings on His disciples.

It’s like what Paul said in Romans 1:11: “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established.” There’s an impartation, a blessing that changes your life forever when the Word is ministered to you. It’s part of the reason we emphasize going to Church. In Church, you receive the Word of blessing that transforms your life. Every time you receive the Word of God, there’s an upliftment; your life is upgraded; the blessings that are already in your spirit are activated and they start working.

CONFESSION
I’m the seed of Abraham, and his blessings rest on me! I’m like a tree by the stream, well-watered and ever flourishing, bearing fruits of righteousness and experiencing luxuriant growth in every area of my life. Truly, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places and I live in prosperity and victory every day. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: 1 Corinthians 2:12-13 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. *||*

Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Numbers 6:23-26* Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 26TH JANUARY.
I affirm that God has not given unto me the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. My mind is stayed on the Word, thus, I have a sound mind. I dwell continually in perfect peace, the peace that is beyond human comprehension. I don't worry or fret because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. My spirit is conditioned by the Word of God to know that nothing shall by any means hurt me. Hallelujah! I dwell in the secret place of the Most High and I abide under the presence of the Almighty. I will continually say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God, in Him will I trust. Though I live in this world, I am not of this world. I am from above, and as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord shields me from every form of wickedness and violence in the earth. Daily, I go out with joy, and I am led forth with peace; the mountains and hills break forth before me in singing and all the trees of the field clap their hands as I manifest the glory of God everywhere. Blessed be God!

Niger Delta Militants Give Fulani 1-month Quit Notice, List Oil Installations...
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-25-2018, 03:38 PM - No Replies

The Niger Delta militants have warned Fulani herdsmen to steer clear of of the region.

They also vowed to deal with any Niger Delta governor who allowed cattle colony.

The Coalition of militants gave the warning yesterday in Port Harcourt Rivers State while listing a number of oil fields and installations as targets for resumed attacks if the Federal Government failed to address specific grievances agitating the region.

The militant groups gave the Fulani herdsmen one month to the vacate the region or face dire consequences.

Those that signed the resolution included, John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogsand Convener, Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators; Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors) and Simply Benjamin (Bakassi Strike Force).

The groups gave the Federal Government a 90-day ultimatum to implement restructuring and resource control, return oil blocs in the region to the Niger Delta people and ensure relocation of the oil & gas companies headquarters to the region.

It said, “Otherwise, there would be no one Nigeria. We shall officially declare Niger Delta Republic after 90 days, if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands.

“We also demand that all the Northerners living in the Niger Delta to quit the region if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands within the stipulated time.

“We also call on our people living in the North to also return to the Niger Delta for their safety.

“Our principal targets are Usan, Ima, Okoro/Setu and Asabo oil fields, Okwok, Asuokpu/Umutu fields, OML 112, OML 117, Ebok, Obe oil field, Akpo, OPL 215, 840, OPL 733, 809, 810, 722, 905, 246, 110, 112, 117 etc, other facilities also marked by our strike team are Total Nigeria Ltd, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Intels and Adax Petroleum” On the menace of herdsmen, the group said,

“The massive killings all over the country by Fulani herdsmen are fully sponsored by top government functionaries, especially the security chiefs, who supply them with weapons with sole aim of achieving cattle colony and Islamic agenda.

“The idea of having cattle colony was already in the mind of President Buhari before he contested the 2015 election. The whole world can now see the reason he appointed all security chiefs from the North, including DG of NIA, who is supposed to be replaced by someone from the South.

“The Coalition believes that the killings by the Fulani herdsmen are direct invitation to civil war and we are fully prepared to fight with the last drop of blood to protect the Niger Delta people and her territorial environment.

“The Coalition also condemns the endorsement of the President as APC candidate for 2019 election by some self-centered governors and politicians. Those calling on President Buhari to seek re-election are the real enemies of Nigeria.

“A government that launched ‘Operation Crocodile Smile I & II’ in the Niger Delta, despite the peaceful atmosphere, in the region.

“Operation Python Dance I & II” in the South East destroyed people and properties just to silence IPOB and further declare a non-violent IPOB as terrorist organization.

“It would suddenly turn deaf ears on terrorist activities of Fulani herdsmen taking place all over the country on daily basis. We shall no longer tolerate any further bloodshed within the Niger Delta states by the terrorists Fulani herdsmen.

“We shall ensure that our people are protected from every Fulani terrorist; it is very unfortunate that the government that swore to protect the lives and properties of its citizens has suddenly become sectional government, and lacks powers to protect the masses.

“And we warn that any Niger Delta governor that accepts cattle colony would be dealt with as the enemy of the Niger Delta. We don’t want Fulanis among us, they are our enemies.”

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said insulting leaders on social media will not change how things are in Nigeria.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, the governor advised youth who wish to chase old people from power to join a party and participate in the process.

He said, ”Young people think insulting leaders on social media will change the way things are in Nigeria.

”No one would hand over the mantle of leadership to you simply because you’re young.

”If you want to chase “old people” from positions of power, you must join a party and participate in the process no matter how bad, dirty and dangerous you think it is.”

Atiku Reacts To Obasanjo's Letter To Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-25-2018, 03:24 PM - No Replies

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the letter written for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to President Muhammadu Buhari saying it confirmed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed Nigerians. Atiku made this comment on Wednesday, January 24 when he paid a visit to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti in furtherance of his political ambition. READ ALSO: FG responds to Obasanjo’s criticism of Buhari administration Atiku said: “The letter was a personal issue between two individuals, so I won’t like to comment on it.

“However, the letter confirmed that the APC government under Buhari has failed Nigerians.” On his visit to Ekiti, Atiku said Fayose “calls the shots and when he does so, we all take the queue.” “Since my return home to PDP this is the first state I am visiting for consultations with party leaders. “This is not surprising as Fayose and I had struck a good relationship since his first tenure as governor and I was VP. He is blunt and straightforward, a sharpshooter in politics and I respect him for that this. “But above all, he is also the chairman of our governors forum. Today, among the governors, among the party generally, he calls the shots and when he does so, we all take the queue.”

“Another unique thing the governor has done is telling me that his deputy is being supported as the party candidate in the next election, this is a very rare feat in the democratic system of our country. “How many deputy governors have succeeded their governors? It means he has foresight and wants someone to continue his good works.” In his reaction, Fayose described Atiku’s ambition as legitimate and a welcomed development for the party. He said: “Vice President Atiku has not spoken to me privately about his ambition, and maybe he would do that in our private meeting. “But his body language obviously shows he has an ambition which is legitimate.

We will all examine everybody and we will have a level playing ground, as he has come, others will still come. “I have paid my dues, I am not a hidden voice. I have all it takes to lead this country, but whichever way it goes, the interest of our party comes first, it is above our individual aspiration. Whoever the party finally picks as the party’s candidate will be supported by others.” “I want to assure you that we only have leadership in Abuja, real party is in the states and at the local government level, we have done it before, we will do it again.”

Ben Bruce: "Babachir Arrested Because Of Obasanjo’s Letter To Buhari"
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-25-2018, 03:17 PM - No Replies

Ben Murray Bruce, Senator representing Bayelsa East has reacted to the arrest of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawalby the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Senator said the arrest of the former SGF was not unconnected to the statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo lambasting President Muhammadu Buhari over his incompetence to rule Nigeria.

In a tweet via his social media handle, the lawmaker mocked the current Federal Government over the timing of Lawal’s arrest.

The business mogul mockingly said other former Presidents should write letters so that “all of a sudden we will deal with herdsmen killings and other issues.”

He wrote: “Moments ago, news got out that former SGF, Babachir Lawal has been finally arrested by the EFCC. Many believe the long awaited arrest is a direct result of the letter written to President Buhari by Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday.

“All of a sudden they announce that the committee on restructuring will submit its report tomorrow.

“All of a sudden Babachir Lawal is detained. Maybe other former Presidents should also write letters. Then may be all of a sudden we will deal with herdsmen killings and other issues.”

Recall that Buhari had in October sacked Lawal and replaced him with Boss Mohammed.

Oil prices getting higher, hit $80
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 01-25-2018, 10:30 AM - No Replies

Oil prices on Thursday hit their highest since December, 2014, pushed up after U.S. crude inventories posted a 10th straight week of declines and as the dollar continued to weaken. A picture taken on September 16, 2015 shows workers trying to tie a pipe of the first refinery in Nigeria, which was built in 1965 in oil rich Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Port Harcourt refinery is Nigeria’s oldest, built in 1965, nine years after crude was first found under the marshy soil and creeks of the delta, where the Niger river meanders to the Gulf of Guinea. Refineries in nearby Warri and Kaduna in the north central region were built in the years that followed, while a new plant was added to the same site in Port Harcourt in 1989. In recent years, however, it became a byword for corruption, a murky, state-run body where billions of dollars in revenue apparently disappeared. AFP PHOTO Oil prices rallied to three-year high, boosted by a record 10th straight weekly decline in U.S. crude inventories. International benchmark Brent futures were nudging 71 dollars per barrel Both crude benchmarks are up by almost 60 per cent since the middle of last year. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures climbed to 66.22 dollars per barrel in early trading, also the highest level since early December, 2014. Price support has also been coming from supply restrictions led by a group of producers around the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Russia, which started last year and are set to last throughout 2018. “The Saudi’s and Russians continue to work together to talk the oil market higher and last night, the countries’ two oil ministers said they were working together on other longer-term projects as well,” said Greg McKenna, chief market strategist at futures brokerage AxiTrader. “That, and the USD fall, along with another inventory draw combined to drive (crude) up,” he added. U.S. crude inventories C-STK-T-EIA fell 1.1 million barrels in the week to Jan. 19, to 411.58 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday. That’s the lowest seasonal level since 2015 and below the U.S. five-year average around 420 million barrels. In foreign exchange markets, the U.S. dollar hit its lowest level since December, 2014 against a basket of other leading currencies. A weakening dollar often results in financial traders taking investment out of currency markets and into commodity futures like crude. Analysts said that rising oil prices would likely start to have an inflationary effect. Looming over the generally bullish oil market has been U.S. oil production, which is edging ever more closely towards 10 million barrels per day (bpd), hitting 9.88 million bpd last week. U.S. output has grown by more than 17 per cent since mid-2016, and is now on par with that of top exporter Saudi Arabia. Only Russia produces more, averaging 10.98 million bpd in 2017.(Reuters/NAN)

Buhari places more value on cattle –BBOG

…blocks Aso Rock gate, demands apology

Members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement yesterday defied the police and marched from the Unity Fountain and blocked the Ask Rock entrance gate. The protesters demanded an apology from President Mohammadu Buhari over Tuesday’s harassment of their members by security operatives.

The movement said that the manhandling, arrest and detention of its members by the police was unlawful, stressing that no security agency has the right to disrupt any peaceful protest by citizens who are demanding actions on some issues that violate the constitutional rights of citizens.

One of the leaders of the movement, Maureen Kabrik, said the welfare of cattle had taken over the heart of President Muhammadu Buhari, who now “responds more promptly to issues that affect the herdsmen than the human welfare”.

She accessed the President of being insensitive to the huge loss of lives following the herdsmen’s violent campaigns nationwide. Kabrik alleged that the President also “values oil more than human lives, hence he chose to be the Minister of Petroleum Resources,” instead of the Minister of Defence despite the high level of insecurity in the country.

The Co-convener of the movement, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, said President Buhari needed to apologise to the group for directing the police to grossly abuse BBOG members who were out on their periodic peaceful protest to raise awareness on the Chibok Girls, the Lassa fever, policewomen and the lecturers of University of Maiduguri who were abducted by Boko Haram in the North-East.
Ezekwesili argued that having gotten a favourable court judgement against the previous government when it tried to ban the BBOG, the police could not be used to disrupt the group’s peaceful demonstration when “the constitution guarantees every citizen the right to hold leaders accountable”.

She said: “The President needs to tell us while our fundamental rights have been abused, because our movement has steadfastly been known as a movement that has never behaved in an unruly manner. We are well organised, disciplined and have never disturbed public peace, so why will the police be sent after the BBOG.

What kind if repressive era we entered into? We will not accept that. The President is the one in control of the police, he needs to say to us that the police harassing us was a big mistake and apologise to us and assure us that it would never happen again. “Having gone to court to challenge the previous administration when it tried to ban our movement and winning in courts, nobody has the right to stop us.

I have also served this nation therefore nobody can shut me down, I will continue to ask for the Chibok Girls.”

In a related development, Concerned Nigerians group and members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as the Shiites, also occupied the Unity Fountain in continuation of their protest to demand the release of their leader, Sheikh El-Zakyzaky, his wife and other members of the group still being detained by the Department of the State Services (DSS).

Edward Lametek Adamu Appointed As CBN Deputy Governor By Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment

BY Damilola Oyedele in Abuja and Obinna Chima in Lagos

President Muhammadu Buhari has tapped Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu, a Christian from Gombe State, as the new deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to replace Mr. Suleiman Barau who retired last month.

Adamu, who was once the Director in charge of the Strategy Management Department of the CBN, is currently the Director of Human Resources with the Bank, a position he has held since 2016.

THISDAY gathered that the deputy governor nominee has more than 25 years experience working with the central bank, which has seen him serving in almost every aspect of its operations.

However, his nomination would be subject to the approval by the Senate.

Adamu, who is 57 years, hails from Kaltungo Local Government Area in Gombe State.

He holds a Quantity Surveying degree from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.

He also holds postgraduate professional certifications in corporate strategy development and execution, performance management, programme & project management and knowledge management.

Adamu is a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria and has acquired skill-sets in strategic leadership, central banking, finance, human resources, organisational transformation, risk management, budgeting and cost management, construction management, records management, communications and relationship management, coaching and mentoring and procurement through a variety of Wharton School USA, INSEAD France, Chicago Booth & IMD Switzerland courses and practical experience.

He is also a frequent presenter at professional conferences, seminars and symposia, especially in the areas of leadership, human capital management, project management, construction, strategy and risk management.

Adamu is in addition an active member of other professional bodies such as the the Project Management Institute, USA; International Knowledge Management Institute, USA; International Society for Performance Improvement, USA; and the Association of Project Managers, UK.

In 2012, he was appointed Director of the Strategy Management Department of the CBN in recognition of his depth of operational knowledge of the Bank’s mandate and core responsibilities as well as the breadth of CBN’s strategy implementation experience.

In that role, he was said to have demonstrated an ability to quickly identify and proffer realistic and workable solutions to complex and competing demands of the various sections of the Bank.

In addition, the deputy governor nominee was responsible for working with the CBN board in ensuring that the Bank had a clearly articulated strategy that would ensure the delivery of its mandate, organisational alignment and focus on strategy – from development to execution – by integrating strategy-focused concepts, principles, and best practices into the fabric, cadence, and processes of the organisation.

To effectively undertake the responsibility, he worked with Messrs Palladium Consultants in developing the first Strategy Execution Framework in the Bank in 2012.

Also, he was responsible for the organisational transformation programme of the Bank.

As the Director of Strategy, he was also a member of the Monetary Policy Implementation Committee and the Financial Services Regulatory Coordination Committee, as well as an observer at the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings.

In 2016, Adamu was appointed Director, Human Resources Department of the Bank to give effect to the human resources transformation programme initiated during his role as Director, Strategy Management.

Until his nomination as deputy governor, he was tasked with developing the human capital assets of the central bank to be more innovative in dealing with current challenges, and becoming quickly adaptive to future changing needs.

Still No Confirmation Process

Despite his nomination as deputy governor-designate, Adamu would most likely face the same fate as other nominees of the president, as hopes that the Senate may soon consider the nominations of four members of the CBN’s MPC were dashed yesterday, when the legislative body doubled down on its position not to consider any nominations from the president not specified in the Constitution.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, speaking at plenary session, said the Senate remains bound by its resolution taken in March 2017.

The MPC was unable to hold its first meeting of this year last Monday, following its inability to form a quorum with eight positions on the 12-member committee vacant.

The meeting is crucial and enables the CBN to carry out one of its primary roles of setting interest rates and formulating monetary policies to ensure price stability and engender growth.

Owing to the inability of the MPC to hold its meeting, the CBN governor Godwin Emefiele, announced on Monday that the monetary policy rate, among other key ratios, decided by the committee at its November meeting, will be retained.

The confirmation process for Buhari’s nominations of Prof. Adeola Festus Adenikinju, Dr. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi, Dr. Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr. Asheikh A. Maidugu as members of the MPC has been stalled by the executive-senate impasse over the confirmation of the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

Other nominations into top positions at the central bank that were also affected by the Senate’s resolution included the deputy governor-designate of the CBN, Ms. Aisha Ahmad, and five non-executive directors for the Bank.

Magu has been retained in an acting capacity despite his rejection twice by the Senate, which declined to confirm him as the substantive head of the anti-graft agency.

The impasse was made worse by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s comment that the position of the EFCC chairman does not require the confirmation of the Senate, as it was not specified in the constitution, compelling the Senate to state that it will seek legal interpretation of his remark.

Given its stance, the Senate resolved to suspend the confirmation process for all nominees of the president, arguing that the executive cannot choose what laws to obey and what laws not to obey.

Saraki’s statement wednesday confirmed recent reports by THISDAY that the upper legislative chamber was not willing to budge on its resolution on the matter.

The Senate President did not specifically refer to the MPC, but his comment was made in reaction to a point of order raised by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa regarding nominations into the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Ohuabunwa had observed that while the board of the commission had been inaugurated and was functional, about three states out of the nine oil-producing states were not represented on the board.

Their nominations were affected by the Senate’s resolution.

The senator, however, appealed that the outstanding NDDC nominees be exempted from the resolution, as the process for their confirmation was already ongoing before the resolution was passed to suspend the confirmation process.

“I am bringing this before you to consider and allow the committee to complete the screening, as these two or three states are left unattended to. Things are moving on, the commission is working and that is why I have come to you this morning to exempt NNDC from that resolution,” Ohuabunwa said.

Saraki, however, ruled that the appeal could only be considered if the process had already begun before the resolution was taken.

“I am happy that you made reference to the fact that we all here at the Senate passed a resolution on this matter. The issue you just raised, we will look at it to see if the exercise started before the resolution.

“I know this resolution we took it in March, I remember at the end of March last year. So the secretariat should check the records.

“If it (confirmation process) had started before (the resolution), we will look into it, but if it had started after, except that resolution is rescinded we are all bound by that resolution,” Saraki said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 25TH JANUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ ANSWER THE RIGHT NAME✨

Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee (Genesis 17:5).

You’d notice, as you study through the Bible, that God changed the names of certain individuals, because their problems were in their names. Jacob, for example, when he was born was named Jacob (deceiver, or swindler). He grew to live up to his name; he deceived his father and his brother; he became a swindler until he encountered God, and his name was changed from Jacob the swindler, to Israel, a prince with God (Genesis 32:28).

How important it is to answer the right name. Your name is your destiny; never forget that. If the name you’re presently called is incongruous with the provisions of the Gospel and God’s perfect will for your life, change it. You can’t be a Christian and answer names that deify Satan or celebrate idolatry. People answer such names, especially in Africa. If you aren’t sure of the meaning of your name, find out; if it’s the wrong one, change it, because your name is a confession.

The New Testament, particularly the epistles, are replete with God’s provisions for the new creation in Christ Jesus, and He’s called us names that are consistent with the life and nature that He’s given us. He expects us to answer those names.

2 Corinthians 5:21, for example, calls us “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” You’re not trying to become righteous, that’s who you are by nature; you were born that way at the New Birth. Therefore, stop trying to be good, to be holy or righteous. Answer your name; when you answer your name, you’ll live that way. Declare, “Father, I thank you for you’ve made me righteous and holy. You’ve made me strong, successful, prosperous, and excellent.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 shows yet another name that God calls you: a new creation; a new kind of man. Perhaps you may have been born with a blood condition, but now that you’re born again, answer your new name! You’re a new creature without a past! You’ve put off the old nature with the blood condition and other depravities, and have put on the new man who is created in righteousness and perfection—whole and complete after the image of Christ. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the glorious names you’ve called me, my life is full of glory and perfection. The revelation of your Word has enlightened and positioned me for a life of continual success and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen

FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

The "bombshell" letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Muhammadu Buhari - has been complied into hard copies and are now being sold on the streets for citizens.

Obasanjo questioned President Buhari’s competence to rule Nigeria further, advising him to forget his second term bid.

He said this on Tuesday in a special press statement titled, ‘The Way Out: A clarion call for coalition for Nigeria Movement.’

The former President told Buhari not to test the patience of Nigerians, advising him to consider a deserved rest after the completion of his first term.

Okorocha Constructing Bridges Without Design - COREN
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-25-2018, 06:31 AM - No Replies

President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Kashim Ali yesterday said the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha is constructing bridges without engineering design.

Ali spoke when he led members of the council on a courtesy visit to the Senate yesterday. The council was received by former Senate president, David Mark, Senators Barnabas Gemade (APC, Benue) and Ibrahim Gobir (APC, Sokoto).

He said “Tragedy is about to happen in Imo State. Bridges are being built in Imo without design; it is a disaster waiting to happen.”

Ali said the COREN could not stop the construction as the act establishing it does not empower it to take such action.

He called on the Senate to support the amendment of the council’s act to empower it to enforce findings on buildings and other construction defects.

Mark described as unfortunate the construction of bridges without engineering design, saying the Senate will support the amendment of the act to empower COREN.

Man rapes Neighbors' 2 Hens To Death In Kenya PHOTOS

Nomalcy was interrupted in Kapkwen area, Bomet county, Kenya after a man was apprehended got having engaged in ‘sexual intercourse’ with two hens, leading to their death.

According to reports, 33-year-old Alfred Kipkemoi Mutai alias Chesoni stole the two hens belonging to his neighbour on Saturday evening, January 20.

He is then reported to have engaged in the unnatural act all through the night and was nabbed in the morning sneaking out with the dead hens.

Upon being pressed on where he was taking the chicken, Chesoni confessed to having committed the act.

He was then beaten up by the villagers who demanded he compensates the owner of the birds.

Richard Kibor Tonui, the owner of the hens, said he would only forgive the culprit upon receiving a compensation fee of Ksh.4, 000.

“I was shocked to wake up in the morning only to find that this man (Chesoni) had raped my hens. I want Ksh.2, 000 for each chicken, only then will I forgive him and he will never be allowed to step foot in my compound again,” said Mr. Kibor.

Following the beating by the villagers, an injured Chesoni pledged to get married and lead a better life.

Recall that a middle-aged man, identified as Mbiti Munyao in Kangundo constituency, Machakos area of Kenya was arrested for allegedly raping to death, last week.

According to the area assistant Chief Mary Mulwa, Munyao was seen pulling the two goats from a bush where the animals had been tied on Saturday, January 13.

The two goats were said to have taken their last breath after Munyao was done with them.

The accused spent a night in police custody before he was charged and bailed for sh100, 000( N349,515.00) after he pleaded not guilty to the accusation.

He was charged with an unnatural offense and unlawful killing of goats.

The images of the two dead goats and the man in the police station sparked outrage among Kenyans with most of them condemning the inhumane act

Yorubas Always Regret Associating With Northerners – Doyin Okupe
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2018, 10:16 PM - No Replies

Former aide to the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, has said that he and other politicians from the South West have always known that associating with the Northern political elites is regrettable.

Doyin said any Southwest politician can come out to prove him wrong adding that most northern politicians he had worked with played very selfish and parochial politics.

The former Presidential aide said this in a post he shared on Facebook where he maintained that the northern political elites often time, make them, the southern collaborators look like saboteurs of their people.

Doyin wrote, “I chose politics over Surgery.

“In choosing politics I also chose a party, NPN, with a national outlook than the regional party, UPN, that held sway in my geopolitical zone.

“From then, 35years ago, and now I have always choosing national parties because of my belief in Nigeria.

“I am not alone in this class of southwest nationalists. i have seniors like, Akinloye, Awotesu, Odunjo, prince adetona, M.K.O. Abiola, who are all late. Baba Akinjide is still alive and well.

”However and quite sadly I say it openly today without any fear of contradictions that with no exception, WE ALL REGRET OUR ASSOCIATION WITH THE NORTHERN POLITICAL ELITES.

“I have not spoken to chief akinjide in over 3years and I do not have his permission to speak on his behalf. Since God has preserved his life till such a time as this, nigerians are at liberty to (confirm or denounce) my statement from him.

“We regret our association because the most of those we worked with played very selfish and parochial nearly based on master servant relationship. Always the interest of the north superseded every other interests and it must be achieved at any and all cost. Often times making us, the patriotic the southern collaborators look like saboteurs of our people.

“I must add here that but for general Babangida and Aliyu Gusau with very few associates, the wrong that was done by the unfair annulment of Abiolas mandate would not have been assuaged by the the creation of a political scenario which ensured head and tail, a southwest President emerged in 1999.

“People may want to argue that this was not a big deal since it was Babangida’s administration itself that caused the annulment. If the annulment was an error the subsequent incaseration and death of MKO was a major disaster that had the potential to scatter this great nation for good if not carefully recompensed through a political retribution in 1999.

“Whenever we asked for the correction of the political and unjust imbalances done by the military, the northern political elites always give the untenable excuses that those actions were done by through military fiat and not the political democratic system.

“Yet the entire military interregnum was headed by northern officers. This is why today we have ridiculous lopsidedness in distribution of states and local governments in the country. it is the same reason we are a federation run with a unitary constitution. it is the same reason that virtually ALL northerners irrespective of their political parties are united in their opposition to Restructuring.

“It is the same reason that all securities agencies in the country (except for 1 or 2 minor ones) are headed by northerners. Yet our political elite class and colleagues in the north look the other way and are quite comfortable with all this unfairness and condemnable injustices which breed hate and disunity in the country.

“The worst of it all is the unguarded, arrogant and uncaring pronouncements from northern elites and leaders in times of severe national calamities inflicted by some northerners on other citizens of the nation.

“The recent gruesome killings in Benue is a thing all Nigerians should be sad and concerned about. It is not an occasion for profuse but irrational arguments and justifications. Certainly not an occasion for display of insensitivity.

“I personally will never ever do anything or participate in any actions that will precipitate the dismemberment of Nigeria. To do so, will be to break the nearly 60years mirror of hope that I had envisioned Nigeria.

“I will however sound a note of warning to our friends from the North, and this is more partisan, that yet we may appear to have been fooled for so long, yes, in the interest of national unity, we have with great anguish, we have tolerated and accommodated the sustained excesses of the north, we have finally reached the end of our tethers. Our elasticity has been stretched to its breaking point.

“I therefore desperately plead with our friends and colleagues to apply reason and good conscience in issues that concern equity and justice in this country. No part of this nation was conquered by another.

“We are an independent sovereign Nation and no citizen must live in fear, none must be treated before the law as being superior or inferior. Governance must be all inclusive and must belong to all not a few as we presently have. Senior citizens from the north must stop playing the ostrich just to please their own especially when their actions harm other sections of the country.

“From now onward it is the North that will decide if the country shall remain together or otherwise.

“May the Almighty Bless our country Nigeria and imbibe its leadership especially those from the North the conscience to stand for what is equitable and just and the courage to speak against evil no matter who the perpetrators are.”

17 Powerful Quotes From Obasanjo’s Letter Criticising Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2018, 10:11 PM - No Replies

Here are 17 quotes from the statement issued by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday criticising the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari.

State Of The Nation
“The lice of poor performance in government – poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed – if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future, lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics and widening inequality – are very much with us today.”

“The situation that made Nigerians to vote massively to get my brother Jonathan off the horse is playing itself out again.”

Nigeria’s Role In Africa
“For Africa to move forward, Nigeria must be one of the anchor countries, if not the leading anchor country. It means that Nigeria must be good at home to be good outside. No doubt, our situation in the last decade or so had shown that we are not good enough at home; hence we are invariably absent at the table that we should be abroad.”

Likely Consequence Of His Statement
“I know that praise-singers and hired attackers may be raised up against me for verbal or even physical attack but if I can withstand undeserved imprisonment and was ready to shed my blood by standing for Nigeria, I will consider no sacrifice too great to make for the good of Nigeria at any time.”

Buhari’s Weakness
“I knew President Buhari before he became President and said that he is weak in the knowledge and understanding of the economy but I thought that he could make use of good Nigerians in that area that could help.”

“I know his weakness in understanding and playing in the foreign affairs sector and again, there are many Nigerians that could be used in that area as well.”

Corruption Allegations Against Members Of Presidency
“There were serious allegations of round-tripping against some inner caucus of the Presidency which would seem to have been condoned. I wonder if such actions do not amount to corruption and financial crime, then what is it? Culture of condonation and turning blind eye will cover up rather than clean up.”

Anti-Corruption Fight
“I thought President Buhari would fight corruption and insurgency and he must be given some credit for his achievement so far in these two areas although it is not yet uhuru!”

Herdsmen-Farmers Crisis
“The herdsmen/crop farmers issue is being wittingly or unwittingly allowed to turn sour and messy. It is no credit to the Federal Government that the herdsmen rampage continues with careless abandon and without finding an effective solution to it.”

“The issue of herdsmen/crop farmers dichotomy should not be left on the political platform of blame game; the Federal Government must take the lead in bringing about solution that protects life and properties of herdsmen and crop farmers alike and for them to live amicably in the same community.”

Governors’ Endorsement Of Buhari
“It is a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness that some Governors, a day after 73 victims were being buried in a mass grave in Benue State without condolence, were jubilantly endorsing President Buhari for a second term! The timing was most unfortunate.”

Three Areas He Feels Buhari Failed
“One is nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotic court. This has grave consequences on performance of his government to the detriment of the nation. It would appear that national interest was being sacrificed on the altar of nepotic interest.”

“The second is his poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics. This has led to wittingly or unwittingly making the nation more divided and inequality has widened and become more pronounced. It also has effect on general national security.”

“The third is passing the buck. For instance, blaming the Governor of the Central Bank for devaluation of the naira by 70% or so and blaming past governments for it, is to say the least, not accepting one’s own responsibility. Let nobody deceive us, economy feeds on politics and because our politics is depressing, our economy is even more depressing today.”

The Case Of Maina
“What does one make of a case like that of Maina: collusion, condonation, ineptitude, incompetence, dereliction of responsibility or kinship and friendship on the part of those who should have taken visible and deterrent disciplinary action? How many similar cases are buried, ignored or covered up and not yet in the glare of the media and the public?”

Buhari’s Health, Pushing His Luck
“…Whatever may be the state of President Buhari’s health today, he should neither over-push his luck nor over-tax the patience and tolerance of Nigerians for him…”

A Dignified Exit From Power
President Buhari needs a dignified and honourable dismount from the horse. He needs to have time to reflect, refurbish physically and recoup and after appropriate rest, once again, join the stock of Nigerian leaders whose experience, influence, wisdom and outreach can be deployed on the sideline for the good of the country. His place in history is already assured.

‘Wobbling’ APC And PDP
“I have had occasion in the past to say that the two main political parties – APC and PDP – were wobbling. I must reiterate that nothing has happened to convince me otherwise. If anything, I am reinforced in my conviction.”

Déjà Vu
I believe the situation we are in today is akin to what and where we were in at the beginning of this democratic dispensation in 1999. The nation was tottering. People became hopeless and saw no bright future in the horizon.

Verdict
“Let the administration and its political party platform agree with the rest of us that what they have done and what they are capable of doing is not good enough for us. … To ask them to give more will be unrealistic and will only sentence Nigeria to a prison term of four years if not destroy it beyond the possibility of an early recovery and substantial growth.”

A Word For Citizens…
“If leadership fails, citizens must not fail and there lies the beauty and importance of democracy. We are challenged by the current situation; we must neither adopt spirit of cowardice nor timidity let alone impotence.”

A Movement To Save The Day
“We need a Coalition for Nigeria, CN. Such a Movement at this juncture needs not be a political party but one to which all well-meaning Nigerians can belong. That Movement must be a coalition for democracy, good governance, social and economic well-being and progress. Coalition to salvage and redeem our country. You can count me with such a Movement.”

I Go Dye's Letter To President Buhari: Leave Now That The Ovation...
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:A clarion call to all tradition leaders,Ex-presidents,diplomatic communities elder statesmen, professional bodies, entertainers and Nigerian youths to lay their voices to end political recycling, because a future bequeathed to Nigerian youths today, will be the best legacy.

Sir,with profound respect to your personality do I write this letter,
Sir,with profound respect to your personality do I write you this letter,
Please allow me the privilege to politely take you through some of the best moments of your life as a youth.

I have questioned my fears when i looked back at our history, as a people and the many opportunities that has been denied the youths of my generation. The youths of today are grieving everyday, because so much has been taken away from them.

They have been denied the right to good life, quality education, freedom, justice, sustainable means of livelihood and above all, the freedom to leadership.
These opportunities were given in the past, remarkably many great Nigerians including your humble self, enjoyed the very best from our great country. How come my generation has been short changed and left in dissolution and uncertainty?

We all have our different birth dates, yours was in 1942. You joined the Nigerian Army at the age of 19 in 1961.Just three years in military service, Nigerian government sent you and a few others to commonwealth military academy training at Aldershot in England, between 1962- 1963. A testimony of how government cared and protected the youths at that time. At 22 years you were already the platoon commander of the second infantry Battalion.

Thereafter, at the age of 25years you were the among the few soldiers that were involved in the counter- coup of 1966, which included your colleagues in service, Abacha 23 years,IBB 25 years and the oldest was Danjuma 28 years and a host of others. At youthful age, In 1975, at 33 years ,you were already the Governor of North Eastern States .While in 1976 at 34 years ,you were appointed as the minister of petroleum.

Meanwhile, two years later, in 1979,I was born into this world, the story has been the same old story, when e go better? In 1983, at the age of 41 years as a sign of displeasure with the Shehu Shagari led civil government, you conquered your fears and risked your life to overthrow the democratic structure at that time,at this young age 41 you became the Head of State. Today you are 75years old, and president of Nigeria, nothing can be found to still be missing, apart from the fact that the youths have not be protected even in your administration.

As highlighted then, most of the issues facing the country,is still killing the ordinary Nigerians today,no electricity,no food,no shelter,no employment and many other social problems. Let me recall, previously I wrote you a letter titled: logic and reasons with out guns,I spoke on some issues affecting us as a people.

If we don’t change our political process, sooner than later, the youths will demand for it,I just pray it’s not too late. Sir,I am not against your political ambition, neither am I opposing your interest but I am of the view that it’s better to leave the stage when the ovation is loud. Honestly speaking, there is nothing new for you to conquer, the only sacrifice that will bring more honour to your personality, is for you to lead the process of advancing and transferring political leadership to the youths.

The best gift that you can obviously give to my generation is to activate and set the process of ending the long and over -due political recycling’s that has denied the youths their rightful place in our political history as Nation. Today, some people are already clamouring that you should continue in power, they have a right to their opinions, but I feel we all owe this Nation the truth at all times. Since you became president, life has taught many of us that the circumstance of life are unforeseeable, It will be honourable to become an elder statesman at this time of your life.

Most of those instigating this continuation are doing it mostly for their selfish interest ,because of what they are gaining or stand to gain, if you remain in power,do they really care about what you will be remembered for Sir,once again, nature has presented to you an opportunity to live as our new generation hero and many young Nigerians are waiting, for you to have compassion for the youths,by lending them the privileges to define who governs them and stop the recycling that has kept us captives.

Fulani Herdsmen Burn 150 Acres Of My Palm Plantation – Former SSG, Adigun Cries Out

Former SSG cries out after suspected Fulani herdsmen on Sunday night invaded Lagun, a suburb of Ibadan, and set ablaze 150 acres of palm plantation in a night raid operation.

Former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Ayodele Adigun who owns the farm, told journalists after inspecting the burnt farm yesterday that he experienced the same fate two years ago when his poultry farm valued at N100 million was destroyed and six of the farm attendants maimed.

According to Daily Post, about 1,500 palm trees were destroyed with value yet to be ascertained as at yesterday morning when he visited the place with a team of security agents.

“We have reported to the police and till now they are yet to make any arrest. I am disturbed. I am concerned because we are talking about diversification of economy but with these hoodlums now, there is a problem as many people would not like to go and farm again.”

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command yesterday called for peaceful coexistence between the Fulani herders and the farmers.

Addressing a security interactive forum, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, said, “We have to organise this meeting so that we can address some issues affecting farmers and Fulani herdsmen.”

Lai Mohammed Replies Obasanjo's Letter To Buhari (Full Statement)
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Minister of Information and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has responded to Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo's letter to Buhari.

In a statement obtained by PoliticsNGR, Lai Mohammed listed Buhari's achievements and gave reasons for the government's problems. The statement read;

"We have read the press statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the State of the Nation.

For the record, Chief Obasanjo is a patriot, and he has proven this time and time again. We appreciate what he said concerning the Administration's performance in two out of the three key issues that formed the plank of its campaign: Fighting corruption and tackling insurgency. Specifically, the former President said President Buhari must be given credit for his achievement so far in these two areas. We thank him for this.

Apparently, the former President believes that the Administration does not deserve a pass mark in the area of the economy, which is the third of our three-pronged campaign promises.

We have no doubt that in the face of massive challenges in this area, this Administration has availed itself creditably. We believe that Chief Obasanjo, because of his very busy schedule, may not have been fully availed of developments in the government's efforts to revamp the economy, which was battered by the consequences of over-dependence on a commodity as well as unprecedented pillaging of the treasury.

Today, most of the indices by which an economy is measured are looking up. Permit me to say, however, that Nigeria would not have exited recession through a mere order or if the Administration had not made use of ''good Nigerians'' who could help.

This Administration is making steady progress in its determined effort to revamp the economy, and the results are showing:

* Foreign Reserves have peaked at $40b, the highest level in about four years, and up from $24 billion just a year ago, even though when we came in, the price of oil had crashed woefully.

* According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC), headline inflation has fallen for 11 consecutive months, standing at 15.37% as at Dec. 2017. This is the lowest inflation rate since Jan 2017, and it has met and surpassed the target set for inflation in the Administration's Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).

* Our determined implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has stopped the hemorrhaging of the treasury. Some 108 billion Naira has been saved from removal of maintenance fees payable to banks, pre-TSA. The nation is being saved 24.7 billion Naira monthly with the full implementation of the TSA.

* The elimination of ghost workers has saved the nation 120 billion Naira

* At about 1.8 billion dollars, the capital inflows in the second quarter of 2017 were almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.

* In the wake of a stable Naira and increased investment inflows, Nigeria’s stock market emerged one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40 percent.

* Nigeria rose 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.

* According to Q3 2017 figures, agriculture export is up year-on-year by 25%, solid minerals exports are up year-on-year by 78%, raw materials exports are up 70% year-on-year and manufactured goods exports are up 22% year-on-year.

* Government agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service are reporting highest-ever revenue collection, while JAMB, under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted N7.8 billion to the coffers of the federal government.

The total amount remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016 was a paltry N51 million!
These positive indices may not have immediately impacted positively on Nigerians, but Nigerians will definitely get a new lease of life a short while from now. This is because the good news from the agricultural sector, which is recording a bumper harvest, will bring down the cost of foodstuffs, especially such staple as rice, and our massive Social Investment Programme will ease the pain of the most vulnerable in the society.

When we assumed office in 2015, some 6 million farmers were involved in rice production. Thanks to the Anchor Borrowers' programme of this Administration, we have grown that number to over 12 million farmers. The result is that our rice import from Thailand alone has dropped from 644 metric tonnes to 22,000 MT in just two years. This is phenomenal.

Apart from rice, Nigeria is also doing well in other grains,
especially Millet, Sorghum and Maize. We are now the second largest producer of sorghum after the US, the third in millet after India and our breweries are now enjoying local sourcing of those commodities.

For maize, we are producing 10 million tons while we need about 13 million tons for both human and animal nutrition. Nigeria leads the world in the yam and cassava production. We account for 70% of the world's yam production. In two years, we hope to be the world's largest exporter of yam! Overall, our ambition is that agriculture should rise from 25% to 40% of GDP, so that we can banish poverty and overcome our economic anxiety.

Our Social Investment Programme is Nigeria’s most ambitious social welfare programme ever. Currently, 5.2 million primary school children in 28,249 schools in 19 states are being fed daily; 200,000 unemployed graduates have enlisted into the N-power Job Scheme, and a quarter of a million loans already distributed to artisans, traders, and farmers.

Finally, our investment in infrastructure is simply unprecedented. This is because infrastructure is key to faster economic growth and development.

Here is a synopsis of what we have done in this area:
* Power Generation at an all-time high of 7,000mw and all can be transmitted

* RAIL: Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge is on. Lagos-Ibadan sector ready 2019, Kano-Kaduna ready 2019; The entire stretch ready 2021; Negotiations on for Coastal Rail covering 15 cities from Lagos to Calabar.

* ROAD: 25 major highways being funded with the N100b Sukuk Bond, and all geo-political zones are benefitting equally

This Administration is not unaware of the enormity of the challenges facing the nation, but we are up to the task. We have taken the bull by the horns, and long-suffering Nigerians will begin to experience a new lease of life as our efforts yield fruits. We will not go into a state of funk for whatever reason.

On the Herders/Farmers' clashes, this Administration is determined to end the crisis resulting from this once and for all, not minding the fact that the clashes predate us. we urge Nigerians to have faith in the Administration's ability to resolve the crisis, and to watch out for concrete measures in this regard.

On whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari should run for another term, it is true that many Nigerians have been calling on the President to run again, while others are opposed to his return. However, we believe this issue is a distraction for the President at this time. This is because Mr. President spends every waking hour tackling the enormous challenges facing the nation, most of which were bequeathed to his Administration by successive past Administrations. He is committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians in 2015. And that's where we are right now!

Finally, we have no reason to believe that former President Obasanjo has any motive beyond the well-being of the nation in issuing his Special Press Statement. We have also taken his admonition in good faith, and we thank him most sincerely for taking time off his busy schedule to pen such a long statement.

Obasanjo's Letter is Justified, Buhari should not re-contest - Junaid Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2018, 11:46 AM - No Replies

Dr. Junaid Mohammed has reacted to the viral bombshell letter written to President Muhammadu Buhari by Elder statesman and former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Mohammed, a second republic senator maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has failed and will continue to fail. He pointed out that nothing good will come out of the president's government.

Chief Obasanjo, on Tuesday, wrote a lengthy letter criticizing President Buhari's government and giving reasons why Buhari should not re-contest in 2019.

He also criticized the two most prominent parties in the country saying that he "will gladly join such a Movement when one is established as Coalition for Nigeria, CN, taking Nigeria to the height God has created it to be. From now on, the Nigeria eagle must continue to soar and fly high."

Reacting to this, Junaid told newsmen, “I think Obasanjo’s letter is justified. President Buhari is not in good health and therefore should not contest.

“His government is also surrounded by nepotism and Obasanjo pointed that out to him.

“I believe strongly that no government will based on nepotism and will succeed. This government has failed and from all indication, they will continue to fail.”

Mike Ozekhome Reacts To Obasanjo's Letter To Buhari

Foremost Lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome has reacted to President Olusegun Obasanjo's letter to President Muhammadu Buhari urging him not to seek re-election in 2019.

Ozekhome said that even if the president is given 20 years, he will still fail to do anything reasonable in the lives of Nigerians.

Obasanjo's 13-page letter on Tuesday upset the Nigerian political atmosphere as he criticized the President and warned him against re-contesting in 2019. Ozekhome thanked the Elder statesman for releasing the letter and discouraging Buhari from vying for the country's number one seat again. In his words;

"Even if you give Buhari another 20 years, he will only take Nigeria backward more and more. It is better to save Nigeria from him. That is why some of his supporters in the ruling party are backing off because they have realized that he’s a wrong horse to back.

Some APC governors are still playing the proverbial ostrich, saying this man is doing well even when they know that he is not doing well. So, I totally agree with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Indeed his call is coming too late."

Monarch to Buhari: Send Army after killer-herdsmen
User Avatar Forum: Politics

ONITSHA—WORRIED by the incessant killings of farmers in various parts of the country by some Fulani herdsmen, the traditional ruler of Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state, Igwe Chidubem Iweka has appealed to the federal government to send the Army after the killer herdsmen to monitor their activities and prevent them from shedding more innocent blood. Armed Fulani-herdsmen He said that by so doing, the federal government would have provided adequate security to the farmers and at the same time, called the herdsmen who are nomadic in nature, to order. Speaking to newsmen in his Obosi Palace at the weekend, Igwe Iweka noted that if their activities were not check-mated, the herdsmen who had already conquered farmers in Benue, Taraba, Ekiti, Delta and Adamawa states, would spread their tentacles to other states of the federation and continue with their killing spree. He described as very unfortunate, a situation where the herdsmen always invaded peoples farm lands and spoil their crops in the name of grazing their cattles, adding that nobody is against grazing their cattles but rather, people are against tampering with peoples’ farm lands as it placed more priorities on their cattles than peoples lives and farm lands. According to the monarch, “Federal Government should send the army to go after the herdsmen and defeat them because they have declared war on innocent citizens and ought to be defeated”. On the recent ruling by an Abuja High court that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is a terrorist group and as such should be proscribed, Igwe Iweka described the court verdict as very biased, adding that IPOB is not known for carrying cudgels, axes, knives or exhibiting violence. “The judge that gave such a ruling should be checked, because, even the international society knows that IPOB is not violent,” he insisted.

•Says 33 firms, 435 d irectors pass CGRS rating
•Dangote Cement, Access, UBA, others retain rating

To sustain investors’ renewed interest in the nation’s capital market and entrench high level of corporate governance in the affairs of listed firms, the steering board of the Corporate Governance Rating System (CGRS) has announced the names of 25 companies that have successfully passed its governance rating test, having scored the required pass mark of 70 per cent whilst 87 others are at various stages of completion of the process. The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), in partnership with The Convention on Business Integrity (CBi) designed and roll-out the initiative,
These 25 successful companies join eight companies that retained their rating from the CGRS pilot in 2014, bringing the total number of companies rated as of today to 33.CGRS was introduced to mitigate corporate failures, occasioned by corruption and poor corporate governance, as well as a repeat of the financial crises that shook many economies in 2007.
The initiative was incorporated into the Nigerian Capital Market in 2012 and launched in 2014 after it was successfully piloted with a number of volunteer companies, including those now listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange’s Premium Board.

The process comprises three segments: an independently verified, self-assessment by the company; a certification of director awareness of their fiduciary duties; and, a corporate integrity assessment where perceptions of actual company behavior are sought from internal and external stakeholders.
Combinations of the three segments with attendant weighted scores are collated and companies with a score of 70% and above will be accorded the CGRS certification mark celebrating the degree to which they have evolved the quality of their corporate governance.
Dangote Cement Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, FBN Holdings Plc, Access Bank Plc, Diamond Bank Plc amongst others were those who retained their ratings in the period under review.
Addressing journalists on the recent developments in CGRS as it relates to listed companies in Lagos on monday, the board of CGRS also congratulates the 435 directors who have passed their certification test.Presentation of awards and certificates to Chairs of companies and directors being celebrated will hold in February 2018 (event details to be announced later).
According to the Chairman of the Steering Board and Executive Director, Regulation, NSE, Ms. Tinuade Awe, “The investors and other stakeholders wants to see positive turnaround on their investment. The issue of governance has taken to the front burner after the 2007 crises; the initiative would help to provide appropriate governance for listed firms.
“The period between 2000 and 2010 were difficult years for business around the world, littered with major corporate failures due to corruption and poor corporate governance, as well as financial crises that shook many economies.
“Companies have since then been evolving their ability to improve board structure and responsibility; business ethics and anti-corruption; transparency and disclosure; internal and external audit and control; and, better protect stakeholder and shareholder rights.

Nigerian companies have not been left out of this evolution where better business leadership and performance is expected to lead to improvements and growth in the Nigerian economy as a whole.”
The Chief Executive Officer of CBi, Soji Apampa, said: “The success rate and increased participation in the CGRS initiative is a testament to the rising acclaim that corporate governance is receiving in corporate Nigeria. It is important to celebrate companies and directors who are leading the renewed charge whilst encouraging others to participate.
“We continue to celebrate companies where we notice that corporate governance is evolving nicely.”The members of the CGRS Steering Board are Ms. Tinuade Awe of the NSE, Ms. Olubukanla Rufai representing the Securities & Exchange Commission, SEC, Mr. Wole Famurewa of CNBC Africa, Ms. Vivien Shobo of Agusto & Co., Mr Soji Apampa, of The Convention on Business Integrity and Ms. Cynthia Akpomudiare, Project Director, CGRS.

Okorocha, Wike, Danjuma Laah Reject Cattle Colonies!!
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2018, 10:07 AM - No Replies

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said he will not give any land in Imo State to the Federal Government for a cattle colony.

Okorocha also dismissed the speculation that he had adopted the proposed colonies and ceded a part of the state to herders as wicked, unfounded and untrue.

The governor who spoke on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital, through the state Commissioner for Information, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, said there was no law, policy, decision, plan, request or intention to cede, allocate or designate any part of Imo State as a cattle colony.

The governor said, “This information that Imo has ceded a part for the proposed cattle colony is wicked, unfounded and untrue, although it represents the typical product of warped thinking of desperate mischief makers via the social media.

“Imo people and members of the public are therefore advised to disregard these baseless and laughable rumours.

“It is unfortunate that manufacturing wicked and capricious lies on an hourly basis has become the hallmark or DNA of desperate opposition politicians in our dear state.”

Also, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said the state does not have land for a cattle colony.

Wike, who also declared that his administration would not allow Rivers to be controlled by external forces, insisted that his government would not be drawn into any debate on cattle colonies.

The governor, who spoke on Tuesday when he granted audience to D-Source Connect Group at the Government House in Port Harcourt, said, “We will not allow our state to be controlled by external forces; we will not be drawn into debates on cattle colonic. We don’t have land for any cattle colony in Rivers State.”

Similarly, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Danjuma Laah, on Tuesday asked the Federal Government not to expect any land from the zone for the planned cattle colonies.

Laah said, “Kaduna South Senatorial Zone and, by extension, the entire Southern Kaduna rejects any attempt to seize more of its lands for the exclusive settlement of herdsmen and their cattle, using state power.

“Already, there is an existing Cattle Grazing Reserve in Laduga from land taken away from the indigenes of Zangon Kataf and Kachia Local Government Areas dating back decades ago.

“That massive land officially gazetted at 32,000 hectaress, (32,000 football fields), but which the present Kaduna State Government has expanded to 74,000 hectare, was taken from my constituents without compensation till date, as records have it.”

The lawmaker lamented that rather than the Federal Government requesting land for university, industry, it was asking for land for colonies.

“Ask us for lands to site universities, government institutions etc, we are willing to give out our land in partnership with industrialists, mechanised farmers, estate developers and all positive social and economic endeavours that are of mutual benefits to everyone.

“No land in Southern Kaduna is free again for the exclusive economic benefit of a group of people who have paid us with mass murder and destruction in scores of our settlements since 2011 for humanely accommodating them and their forebears.”

Sagay: Obasanjo’s Letter And Comments About Buhari Insulting, Inappropriate

•Agbakoba: Buhari has nothing to offer

•Falana: statement a wake-up call

•Ubani: letter overdue

Quote:Posted By: Joseph Jibueze, Adebisi Onanuga and Robert Egbe

Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) chairman Prof Itse Sagay (SAN) last night said it was insulting for former President Olusegun Obasanjo to ask President Muhammadu Buhari not to run for second term.

Sagay urged Obasanjo, who he said sought third term, to show Buhari some “respect”.
He said: “I saw Obasanjo’s comments and I could not believe my eyes, that a man who tried to get a third term is discouraging someone else from getting a second term. It doesn’t make sense.

“I think Obasanjo should try and respect other people. He has achieved a lot. He is a great man and I respect him. But he should learn to respect other people and think of them as being, at least, as good as himself.

“I think it is insulting for a man who wanted third term to tell somebody else not to want second term. It is most inappropriate, and for a former head of state to say so is most improper.”

But, a former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and leader of the National Intervention Movement (NIM) Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) said President Buhari has nothing more to offer.

He described Obasanjo’s suggestion for Buhari not to run for second term as “great”.

Agbakoba said: “It (Obasanjo’s call) is a great idea as Buhari hasn’t anything left to offer. We at the Third Force will build a new coalition to take power.”

Activist-lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) described Obasanjo’s statement as a wake-up call for President Buhari. He advised the President to shed himself of the influence of “an incompetent and corrupt cabal”.

Falana said: “President Olusegun Obasanjo’s intervention is a vivid expression of the frustration of the Nigerian people with the Buhari administration.

“The statement is a clarion call on President Buhari to remove the incompetent and corrupt cabal of power mongers that has hijacked political power from him. Through sheer nepotism and cronism, the regime has lost the massive goodwill that heralded it to power.

“The success recorded in the fight against insurgency in the northeast zone has been eroded in the wave of kidnapping and reckless killing of unarmed Nigerians by AK47-bearing herdsmen.

“The success of the fight against corruption and impunity has been rubished by the inability of the regime to remove corrupt public officers.

“President Obasanjo’s challenge has been taken up by many Nigerians who have already formed a coalition of genuine progressive forces to liberate Nigeria from internal colonialism and imperialist control.”

Mr. Dele Adesina (SAN), declined to comment on the contents of ex-President Obasanjo’s letter because he considered it a purely political matter, not a legal one.

He, however, observed that “there’s nothing one can say that will determine whether the President should run or should not run; it is his constitutional right to do so. I don’t want to join in any controversy.”

Although Vice President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Monday Ubani felt Obasanjo’s letter was long overdue, he warned that Obasanjo should not see himself as the determiner of Nigerians’ fate.

He said only Nigerians could choose who they would vote for.

Ubani said: “Former President Obasanjo’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari was long expected and, for coming now, I will say it is even belated.

“Recall that former President Obasanjo has written such letters to virtually everyone that took over from him and if you will remember such letters were even written to former military leaders like IBB and Abacha.

“Such scathing and virulent attacks on leaders before and after him are therefore not novel. What is novel is that he did not initiate the attack on President Buhari timeously, due to some personal reasons known to him.

“However, former president Obasanjo should not allow this idea to get into his head that he has become the ‘power and principality’ that will always determine the political direction of Nigeria. “Nigerians should always know when they are tired of any government and should determine the fate of their leaders, including President Buhari if at all he decides to contest in 2019, and when they so decide it is not because former President Obasanjo instructed them but because they are tired of the ‘Change.’

“My humble take about Nigeria is that the destiny of Nigeria should not be seen to be in the hands of these supposed ‘powers and principalities’ of Nigerian politics but in the hands of the majority of Nigerians who must always have their way. That is the way for us to go and it is my dream for my dear country.

“Nigerians will not reject President Buhari in 2019 because former President Obasanjo said so but because President Buhari may have wittingly or unwittingly rejected Nigerians. He alone by now should know his status with Nigerians. A word is enough for the wise.”

Former member, Ogun State Judicial Service Commission, Abayomi Omoyinmi described the letter as one-sided.

Omoyinmi said: “President Obasanjo is entitled to his opinion on how he has perceived President Buhari. The fact of the matter is that every individual has his or her own way of approach to governance as it’s in this case. Ex-President Obasanjo has only highlighted what he believed are President Buhari’s flaws in his style of governance.

“I am of the opinion that the content in the letter is one sided in that it lacked constructive criticism, because Obasanjo failed to at least highlight the good things that have been achieved by President Buhari within just three years and under an extremely difficult circumstances created by many years of previous administration misrule.”

Ghanaian Principal Caught Having Sex With A 16-Year-Old Student PHOTO

Posted by: Edoman - 01-24-2018, 09:58 AM - No Replies

The Headmaster of Breman Edumanu D/A Basic School in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central Region, whose name is Robert Sepey, who was caught in a sex tape with a 16-year-old student, is on the run.

The District Police Command and chiefs and people of the town are currently on the heels of the disgraceful headmaster, Sepey over the alleged sex tape.

Members of the community are expecting the chief of the town, Nana Asare Bediako, to take action but he has said there is nothing they can do about the situation since the story is already in the media.

The District Chief Executive, Isaac Odoom, when contacted, said the issue had not come to his attention. The video, which has since gone viral, has sparked outrage among the people of Breman Edumanu, near Breman Awhiam.

The headmaster is believed to have recorded the sex bout himself. In the 4 minutes 16 seconds video, the 17-year-old, a senior high school student, is seen kneeling on a local chair while Mr. Sepey was in the act.

The youth and opinion leaders of the town are therefore calling for a mass transfer of all teachers in the community since they claim the phenomenon has existed for long. Some aggrieved past students of the school said the headmaster is alleged to be in the habit of having sexual affairs with pupils.

They said until the emergence of this sex tape, the headmaster had demanded evidence anytime parents accused him of such acts. Some community members said they feel embarrassed by the development and have threatened to demonstrate against the headmaster if he is not dealt with accordingly.
We entreat the police to arrest him for this act.

Morning Devotional For Wednesday 24th January

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (JANUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*CALLED TO MANIFEST THE GLORY OF GOD .*

Wednesday, January 24th .
Pastor Chris

_*Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).*_

Christianity is much more than going to Church and joining a group; it’s in fact, the revelation or unveiling of the new man in Christ: who he is; his rights, abilities, and glories in Christ Jesus.

The world has a hard time reckoning with or recognizing us because we’re just like Jesus (1 John 4:17); they didn’t recognize Him. John 1:10 says, _*“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”*_ The world doesn’t know us either because we’re born of Him. We have the same life and nature with Him.

On one occasion, He said to the Jews, “I am from above and you are from beneath.” Letting them know He was not of this world; He was divinity born into the sense realm. He came into the world from the realm of the spirit. Like Him, you’re in the world—this natural world—but not of this world (John 15:19). You were born from above, to rule the world.

Romans 8:19 says, _*“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”*_ You were born to reign and manifest the glories of the Kingdom of God in the earth; that’s Christianity: _*“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”*_ (1 Peter 2:9).

What a life! What a calling! You’re called to walk in, and manifest, the glory of God. The same way Jesus came to the earth to express God and manifest His glory, you’ve been called to display God.

If God says you’ve been chosen to show forth His glory, it means you have the ability to do it. It has pleased the Father that through you, principalities, rulers and powers of darkness will be tamed and know the many sided-wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10).

Today, you’re the express image of God’s person; the fulfilment of His dream. You’ve been called to display the virtues and perfections of Christ in the earth. Fulfill your calling!

*PRAYER*

*Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving me a life that’s beyond this world. I’m conscious of who I am, and the greater One that lives in me, to cause your will and righteousness to prevail through me, by the power of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

I am plugged to a heavenly supply, living in abundance always. The devil and demons have nothing to their advantage in me, because I am born of the Word, and walk in the Spirit. Fear, doubt, unbelief, sickness, infirmity, failure, and poverty are not a part of my experience of life. Hallelujah! Divinity is at work in me, in every fibre of my being, every cell of my blood, and in every bone of my body! I refuse to let sickness dominate my body, for my body is the temple of the living God, and that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me!   2019: Shehu Sani Blames El-rufia As APC Rejects Him
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2018, 11:39 PM - No Replies

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has accused Governor Nasir El-Rufai of masterminding his reported rejection by the All Progressives Congress, APC, chairmen in his district.Party chairpersons of six local governments in his constituency which include Chikun, Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, Kaduna North, Kaduna South and Giwa LGs, met on Saturday, endorsing a rival aspirant and political adviser to Mr. El-Rufai, Uba Sani, for the 2019 senatorial ticket.
Senator Sani while reacting to his rejection, accused the governor of sponsoring the move after repeatedly failing to suspend him from the party.
“The so-called rejection of Senator Shehu Sani by so-called six chairmen of APC is nothing but Governor Nasiru El-Rufai’s antics,” a statement by his Special Adviser said.
“After two and half year of failed attempt to suspend senator Sani or recall him, El-Rufai has stooped to organising fake party chairman and endorsing his political adviser called Uba Sani.

“It will interest the general public to know that El-Rufai is simply diverting the attention and shielding his political adviser who will be in court in February for organising thugs to invade the NUJ secretariat.
“He has endorsed himself for the governorship and now arranging an endorsement for his puppy and low-grade errand boy.
“He has clung unto President Buhari for his political oxygen and life,” he said.
Mr. Sani added that the governor was busy frequenting the Aso Villa while his state is being attacked by kidnappers and herdsmen.
“While Franco Nero plays fiddle while Rome was on Fire, El-Rufai is always in the Villa playing the Game of Throne while his state is overrun by kidnappers and herdsmen,” Sani added.
He expressed confidence that the people of Kaduna Central constituency were solidly behind him.

To all those who still think the sex doll is a joke, you may have to wait for so long as it seems Sex Doll has taken over. I was minding my business on FB and I saw one of my followers congratulating his friend on the arrival of his new Sex Doll. The owner has to reply that the doll cost him a whopping 840,000 naira, the money he could have used to buy a Camry and the following discussion ensued as the ladies are not finding it funny at all, some even protest, read below.

Obasanjo Warning Letter To President Buhari: 6 Areas Obasanjo Scored Buhari Low

Quote:Elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday, slammed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for performing below the expectations of Nigerians.

Obasanjo, who ruled Nigeria at different times as a military and democratic president, had in a strongly worded letter titled: ‘THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR NIGERIA MOVEMENT’,highlighted the failings of the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government.

The PUNCH brings you six quotes from the former Peoples Democratic Party stalwart.

Poverty
“Already, Nigerians are committing suicide for the unbearable socio-economic situation they find themselves in. And yet Nigerians love life. We must not continue to reinforce failure and hope that all will be well. It is self-deceit and self-defeat and another aspect of folly.”

Insecurity/Herdsmen menace
The herdsmen/crop farmers issue is being wittingly or unwittingly allowed to turn sour and messy. It is no credit to the Federal Government that the herdsmen rampage continues with careless abandon and without finding an effective solution to it. And it is a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness that some Governors, a day after 73 victims were being buried in a mass grave in Benue State without condolence, were jubilantly endorsing President Buhari for a second term!

The second is his poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics. This has led to wittingly or unwittingly making the nation more divided and inequality has widened and become more pronounced. It also has effect on general national security.

Poor economic management
“The third is passing the buck. For instance, blaming the Governor of the Central Bank for devaluation of the naira by 70% or so and blaming past governments for it, is to say the least, not accepting one’s own responsibility. Let nobody deceive us, economy feeds on politics and because our politics is depressing, our economy is even more depressing today. If things were good, President Buhari would not need to come in. He was voted to fix things that were bad and not engage in the blame game. Our Constitution is very clear, one of the cardinal responsibilities of the President is the management of the economy of which the value of the naira forms an integral part. Kinship and friendship that place responsibility for governance in the hands of the unelected can only be deleterious to good government and to the nation.”

Nepotism
“One is nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotic court. This has grave consequences on performance of his government to the detriment of the nation. It would appear that national interest was being sacrificed on the altar of nepotic interest. What does one make of a case like that of Maina: collusion, condonation, ineptitude, incompetence, dereliction of responsibility or kinship and friendship on the part of those who should have taken visible and deterrent disciplinary action? “

Condoning misdeed
“There were serious allegations of round-tripping against some inner caucus of the Presidency which would seem to have been condoned. I wonder if such actions do not amount to corruption and financial crime, then what is it? Culture of condonation and turning blind eye will cover up rather than clean up. And going to justice must be with clean hands.”

Obasanjo's now viral letter has caused a flurry of reactions from various quarters. The elder statesman warned Buhari to forget any plans of re-contesting for the country's top seat in 2019 due to his 'poor'handling of the Nation's affairs.

FFK, in response to the development simply wrote on Twitter;

"OBJ has spoken. Matter closed."

The Presidency is yet to respond to OBJ's open letter.

THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR NIGERIA MOVEMENT
Special Press Statement
By
President Olusegun Obasanjo

Since we are still in the month of January, it is appropriate to wish all Nigerians Happy 2018. I am constrained to issue this special statement at this time considering the situation of the country. Some of you may be asking, “What has brought about this special occasion of Obasanjo issuing a Special Statement?” You will be right to ask such a question. But there is a Yoruba saying that ‘when lice abound in your clothes, your fingernails will never be dried of blood’. When I was in the village, to make sure that lice die, you put them between two fingernails and press hard to ensure they die and they always leave blood stains on the fingernails. To ensure you do not have blood on your fingernails, you have to ensure that lice are not harboured anywhere within your vicinity.

The lice of poor performance in government – poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed – if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future, lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics and widening inequality – are very much with us today. With such lice of general and specific poor performance and crying poverty with us, our fingers will not be dry of ‘blood’.

Four years ago when my PDP card was torn, I made it abundantly clear that I quit partisan politics for aye but my concern and interest in Nigeria, Africa and indeed in humanity would not wane. Ever since, I have adhered strictly to that position. Since that time, I have devoted quality time to the issue of zero hunger as contained in Goal No. 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. We have set the target that Nigeria with the participating States in the Zero Hunger Forum should reach Zero Hunger goal by 2025 – five years earlier than the UN target date. I am involved in the issue of education in some States and generally in the issue of youth empowerment and employment. I am involved in all these domestically and altruistically to give hope and future to the seemingly hopeless and those in despair. I believe strongly that God has endowed Nigeria so adequately that no Nigerian should be either in want or in despair.

I believe in team work and collaborative efforts. At the international level, we have worked with other world leaders to domicile the apparatus for monitoring and encouraging socio-economic progress in Africa in our Presidential Library. The purpose of Africa Progress Group, which is the new name assumed by Africa Progress Panel (APP), is to point out where, when and what works need to be done for the progress of Africa separately and collectively by African leaders and their development partners. I have also gladly accepted the invitation of the UN Secretary-General to be a member of his eighteen-member High-Level Board of Advisers on Mediation. There are other assignments I take up in other fora for Africa and for the international community. For Africa to move forward, Nigeria must be one of the anchor countries, if not the leading anchor country. It means that Nigeria must be good at home to be good outside. No doubt, our situation in the last decade or so had shown that we are not good enough at home; hence we are invariably absent at the table that we should be abroad.

All these led me to take the unusual step of going against my own political Party, PDP, in the last general election to support the opposite side. I saw that action as the best option for Nigeria. As it has been revealed in the last three years or so, that decision and the subsequent collective decision of Nigerians to vote for a change was the right decision for the nation. For me, there was nothing personal, it was all in the best interest of Nigeria and, indeed, in the best interest of Africa and humanity at large. Even the horse rider then, with whom I maintain very cordial, happy and social relationship today has come to realise his mistakes and regretted it publicly and I admire his courage and forthrightness in this regard. He has a role to play on the side line for the good of Nigeria, Africa and humanity and I will see him as a partner in playing such a role nationally and internationally, but not as a horse rider in Nigeria again.

The situation that made Nigerians to vote massively to get my brother Jonathan off the horse is playing itself out again. First, I thought I knew the point where President Buhari is weak and I spoke and wrote about it even before Nigerians voted for him and I also did vote for him because at that time it was a matter of “any option but Jonathan” (aobj). But my letter to President Jonathan titled: “Before It Is Too Late” was meant for him to act before it was too late. He ignored it and it was too late for him and those who goaded him into ignoring the voice of caution. I know that praise-singers and hired attackers may be raised up against me for verbal or even physical attack but if I can withstand undeserved imprisonment and was ready to shed my blood by standing for Nigeria, I will consider no sacrifice too great to make for the good of Nigeria at any time. No human leader is expected to be personally strong or self-sufficient in all aspects of governance.

I knew President Buhari before he became President and said that he is weak in the knowledge and understanding of the economy but I thought that he could make use of good Nigerians in that area that could help. Although, I know that you cannot give what you don’t have and that economy does not obey military order. You have to give it what it takes in the short-, medium- and long-term. Then, it would move. I know his weakness in understanding and playing in the foreign affairs sector and again, there are many Nigerians that could be used in that area as well. They have knowledge and experience that could be deployed for the good of Nigeria. There were serious allegations of round-tripping against some inner caucus of the Presidency which would seem to have been condoned. I wonder if such actions do not amount to corruption and financial crime, then what is it? Culture of condonation and turning blind eye will cover up rather than clean up. And going to justice must be with clean hands.

I thought President Buhari would fight corruption and insurgency and he must be given some credit for his achievement so far in these two areas although it is not yet uhuru!

The timing was most unfortunate. The issue of herdsmen/crop farmers dichotomy should not be left on the political platform of blame game; the Federal Government must take the lead in bringing about solution that protects life and properties of herdsmen and crop farmers alike and for them to live amicably in the same community.

But there are three other areas where President Buhari has come out more glaringly than most of us thought we knew about him. One is nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotic court. How many similar cases are buried, ignored or covered up and not yet in the glare of the media and the public? The second is his poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics. This has led to wittingly or unwittingly making the nation more divided and inequality has widened and become more pronounced. It also has effect on general national security. The third is passing the buck. Kinship and friendship that place responsibility for governance in the hands of the unelected can only be deleterious to good government and to the nation.

President Buhari’s illness called for the sympathy, understanding, prayer and patience from every sane Nigerian. It is part of our culture. Most Nigerians prayed for him while he was away sick in London for over hundred days and he gave his Deputy sufficient leeway to carry on in his absence. We all thanked God for President Buhari for coming back reasonably hale and hearty and progressing well in his recovery. But whatever may be the state of President Buhari’s health today, he should neither over-push his luck nor over-tax the patience and tolerance of Nigerians for him, no matter what his self-serving, so-called advisers, who would claim that they love him more than God loves him and that without him, there would be no Nigeria say. President Buhari needs a dignified and honourable dismount from the horse. He needs to have time to reflect, refurbish physically and recoup and after appropriate rest, once again, join the stock of Nigerian leaders whose experience, influence, wisdom and outreach can be deployed on the side line for the good of the country. His place in history is already assured. Without impaired health and strain of age, running the affairs of Nigeria is a 25/7 affair, not 24/7.

I only appeal to brother Buhari to consider a deserved rest at this point in time and at this age. I continue to wish him robust health to enjoy his retirement from active public service. President Buhari does not necessarily need to heed my advice. But whether or not he heeds it, Nigeria needs to move on and move forward.

Nigerian Female Doctor Refused Entry In Saudi Embassy Because Of Veil

A Nigerian Female Doctor was refused entrance into the Nigerian embassy in Jeddah because of her insisting on her wearing the full veil.
Despite being informed of the sweeping reforms of the host country, the notice pasted outside the embassy gate and the fact that wearing of the veil is no where in the Holy Quran, she insisted on seeing the Consul General on her fundamental rights!
When on the arrival of the Consul General who insisted on the rules being followed, the lady preferred to wait outside for up to 7 hours until the Embassy closed for the day.
Can You Imagine This Woman Going To Saudi Arabia To 'Teach Them' On The Position Of The Veil...?

=== ++++ ***** @@@@@@ ***** ++++ ====
The scenario is best captured in her own words....

MY EXPERIENCE AT THE NIGERIAN CONSULATE, JEDDAH ON 15 JANUARY 2018

I ARRIVED at the consulate a few minutes before 10 am on the above-mentioned date with the aim of renewing my passport. The security guard at the gate did not speak English, so another consulate staff who was present attended to me. After asking what my business in the consulate was, he informed me that I had to unveil my face before I could be allowed entry into the premises.

I immediately protested – as this was at least the third time I was visiting the consulate and had never been asked to do this – but he showed me a notice pasted on the wall that all women were expected to unveil their faces before entry into, and all through their stay in, the premises. I explained to him that I could not do this, but was willing to be identified at the gate to fulfil any security requirements that may arise. He, the un-named consulate staff, however told me that this was not about identification.

When I asked what it was about, he said that this was not his job, and he was only trying to help, that I should discuss with the security men, and he left.

Thereafter the remaining men, at least three of them, started telling me that I had to either unveil my face and go in or leave the premises. I asked them to at least wait until my husband – who was still outside settling the taxi fare – arrived, and they relented.

When my husband came, I narrated what happened to him and he asked to see a senior consulate staff to explain my situation to him.

According to him, the man he saw confirmed that this was a new rule of the consulate and that I had to comply or wait for the Consul General (C.G.). As he returned to inform me of the result of this meeting, the security men, again, began to ask us to leave the premises. So, we left the interior of the security post to wait outside for the arrival of the C.G.

The C.G. arrived some time later and, on seeing us outside the consulate, asked why we were there. The security men told him that I had refused to remove my face veil, and he shook his head vehemently and ordered that I be denied entry. My husband went to talk to him, but he refused to grant him an audience. He – from a distance – told my husband that I HAD TO COMPLY AND UNVEIL MY FACE THROUGH OUT MY VISIT as was stated by the notice. And when my husband asked to be allowed to explain, and possibly negotiate my willingness to undergo identity checks for security purposes – as I’m used to doing in airports and other security sensitive facilities worldwide - he said he was not interested in listening to anything my husband had to say and asked him to vacate the premises.

Once he returned to me and was giving me the report of this aborted meeting, the security men once again came to us and ordered us to leave the vicinity of the consulate. They said Oga said we had to go away from there. At this point, both my husband and I told them that we would not move from there. We were law-abiding Nigerians who lived and worked in Saudi Arabia peacefully for over seven years now, and we had a legitimate business at the consulate which we have, so far, been unable to transact. They threatened us with police and bodily removal, but left us alone when we refused to leave.

Over the next six hours, different members of staff came to talk to us in a guise of goodwill and Muslim brotherhood.

They had a range of reasoning and arguments;
-This veiling of face is not in the Qur’an ,
-It is not compulsory,
-Are you saying that all the other women who have exposed their faces are going to hell?
-We are all Muslims here, so no one is trying to victimse you
-Allaah has seen your intention. Just do what is asked and go inside
-This is the rule of this place, obey.
-This place is under the Nigerian jurisdiction, you must obey Nigerian law.
-They can bring diplomatic police to arrest you.

All these were the things said directly to us, disregarding the taunts and snide comments made mostly by the security men and others who came to spend time with them at the security post, but when they saw that I would not unveil myself unrestrictedly, they all left eventually. However, at least two of these well-meaning consulate staff said a variation of, ‘This man – meaning the C.G. - will not budge on this matter.’
At least one swore by Allaah to that effect.

At about 2 p.m., I asked to speak to the C.G personally, but he sent the message that I could unveil my face then come in to see him.

After that, the bulky security man in all-green uniform came to me in an intimidating stance and asked me to move from where I was at the entrance of the consulate.

As my husband had left by then to bring our children – who had spent over three hours waiting with us in the sun – to the hotel, I was afraid for my safety as a woman alone and did what he asked. He told me to sit at the edge of the kiosk painted green and white, off to one side and away from the entrance or the security cameras.

Notably, only one member of staff – at about 3.30 pm – offered to intercede on our behalf with the C.G. But seeing as the C.G. drove off a few minutes after 4 pm, and we did not see the gentleman again till we left at 4.30 pm, I guess his mission was unsuccessful.

I have tried – all through this narration – to give a factual recollection of something that was, in truth, a harrowing and humiliating experience for me and my family. To stand outside in the Saudi sun for about seven hours – they refused to even let me in to pray salaah – for something as arbitrary as ‘this is the rule here’ without even attempting to listen to my case, or assist me in finding an acceptable solution or middle ground…..

And Allaah is Witness over all that we do.

Dr. Muti’ah Olaide,
BadruKhaybar General Hospital,
Khaybar, Madina Region.
16th January, 2018.

It will seem like we, Nigerians, are being fundamentalist and teaching them (the owners of the religion - so to say), the religion! Whereas, places like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, etc are so liberal that many non Muslims go there for vacation (Our Vice President and his family chose Dubai earlier this month as the place to go for the vacation)
Even Saudi Arabia has recently been relaxing so many of its religious laws and restrictions all in ways to show modern day reformations.

It will seem Nigerian Muslims are really not in the modern train of these reforms. I would rather say, this attitude of Nigerian Muslims seem rather peculiar

Aisha Yesufu Lists Why Buhari Is Corrupt by kirajustice8:05am
@POLITICSNGR

Convener of the Bring Back Our girls group, BBOG, Aisha Yesufu has listed various ways she believes President Muhammadu Buhari's administration encourages corruption.

On Tuesday, Aisha attacked President Buhari over the appointment of the new Director-General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, who allegedly failed his promotional exams.

In a series of tweets, She lampooned the president for dining with APC chieftains in the presidential villa.

She wrote;

“And some would say President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari is not corrupt.

“Corruption is appointing NIA DG, a man who failed promotion exam twice to be in a committee to review it’s operation

“Corruption is lack of transparency in how a company fined a huge fine gets a massive reduction

*Nepotic hiring, appointment and award of contracts

* Aiding and abetting those accused of corruption

* Dining with people facing corruption charges at PRIVATE dinner

“Corruption is taking a share from those who stole, refusing to prosecute one found stealing & having him around

* Appointing one who failed promotion exam to head the agency, Hire illegally through the backdoor.

“Corruption is also Trucks of food to IDPs stolen and nothing done about it

* Finding over $40m in an apartment belonging to head of an agency and that head secured by security agencies

* Finding huge sum of money at an airport and nothing heard further.

* Not knowing how much has been recovered by whom and from whom.

Obasanjo Warns Buhari Not To Contest In 2019: "Not Capable Of Ruling Nigeria"
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2018, 03:22 PM - No Replies

POLITICSNGR

Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo has in a 13-page Scathing statement called on the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to bury any plans of recontesting in 2019.

Obasanjo, in a special press statement obtained by PoliticsNGR, titled “The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement”, urged President Buhari to "honourably dismount from the Horse" and join the league of the country’s former leaders whose “experience, influence, wisdom, and outreach can be deployed on the sideline for the good of the country.”

Obasanjo disclosed that he feels disappointed with Buhari's performance. OBJ also wrote a similar letter in 2013 against President Goodluck Jonathan, wrote; “Even the horse rider then, with whom I maintain very cordial, happy and social relationship today has come to realise his mistakes and regretted it publicly and I admire his courage and forthrightness in this regard,”.

“He has a role to play on the sideline for the good of Nigeria, Africa, and humanity and I will see him as a partner in playing such a role nationally and internationally, but not as a horse rider in Nigeria again.”

“The lice of poor performance in government – poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed – if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future, lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics and widening inequality – are very much with us today,” he wrote.

“With such lice of general and specific poor performance and crying poverty with us, our fingers will not be dry of ‘blood’,” he added.

OBJ thanked Buhari for the way he handled the Boko Haram crisis but pointed out that he failed to be efficient in other areas. He admitted knowing that Buhari was weak in handling the economy, he went ahead and voted for him because at the time “it was a matter of ‘any option but Jonathan’” and because he thought Mr Buhari would appoint qualified Nigerians to help out in that area.

He slammed Mr Buhari for turning a blind eye to corruption within his government saying it amounted to condonation and cover-up saying whoever is “going to justice must be with clean hands.”

He also berated Mr Buhari for allowing the clashes between herdsmen and farmers to go “sour” and messy saying the endorsement of the President by some governors to seek re-election barely 24 hours after 73 people who were killed by herdsmen in Benue State were given mass burial was “a sad symptom of insensitivity and callousness.”

But Mr. Obasanjo reserved his harshest words for what he described as Mr. Buhari’s clannishness, lack of understanding of the dynamics of politics, and his tendencies to pass the buck of his government’s inadequacies to the immediate past administration.

“But there are three other areas where President Buhari has come out more glaringly than most of us thought we knew about him. One is nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members of his nepotic court. How many similar cases are buried, ignored or covered up and not yet in the glare of the media and the public?

“The second is his poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics. This has led to wittingly or unwittingly making the nation more divided and inequality has widened and become more pronounced. It also has effect on general national security.

He was voted to fix things that were bad and not engage in the blame game.”

Buhari and the APC not the Solution to Nigeria's Problem

Mr Obasanjo thus argued that neither Mr Buhari nor his party, the All Progressives Congress hold the solution to the country’s problems. He suggested that Mr Buhari was not healthy enough to withstand the rigour associated with running a country like Nigeria neither does his party capable of providing the answer needed to sail the country through its difficulties.

Mr Obasanjo said Buhari should step down at the end of his first term with honour and dignity and attend to his health and should not listen to the his “self-serving so-called adviserswho would claim that they love him more than God loves him and that without him, there would be no Nigeria say.”

“President Buhari needs a dignified and honourable dismount from the horse.

“I only appeal to brother Buhari to consider a deserved rest at this point in time and at this age. I continue to wish him robust health to enjoy his retirement from active public service. President Buhari does not necessarily need to heed my advice. But whether or not he heeds it, Nigeria needs to move on and move forward,” he said.

“I have had occasion in the past to say that the two main political parties – APC and PDP – were wobbling. I must reiterate that nothing has happened to convince me otherwise. If anything, I am reinforced in my conviction. The recent show of PDP must give grave and great concern to lovers of Nigeria.

“To claim, as has been credited to the chief kingmaker of PDP, that for procuring the Supreme Court judgement for his faction of the Party, he must dictate the tune all the way and this is indeed fraught with danger.

“If neither APC nor PDP is a worthy horse to ride to lead Nigeria at this crucial and critical time, what then do we do? Remember Farooq Kperogi, an Associate Professor at the Kennesaw State University, Georgia, United States, calls it “a cruel Hobson’s choice; it’s like a choice between six and half a dozen, between evil and evil. Any selection or deflection would be a distinction without a difference.” We cannot just sit down lamenting and wringing our hands desperately and hopelessly.

Coalition of Nigerians

Having ruled out the PDP and the ruling APC of possessing the panacea to the malaise that ails the country, Mr Obasanjo therefore called for a movement he termed Coalition of Nigeria, which he offered to be a part of, to wrest power from the present ruling class and lead the country into the path of rebirth.

“We can collectively save ourselves from the position we find ourselves. It will not come through self-pity, fruitless complaint or protest but through constructive and positive engagement and collective action for the good of our nation and ourselves and our children and their children. We need moral re-armament and engaging togetherness of people of like-mind and goodwill to come solidly together to lift Nigeria up. This is no time for trading blames or embarking on futile argument and neither should we accept untenable excuses for non-performance.

“Let us accept that the present administration has done what it can do to the limit of its ability, aptitude and understanding. Let the administration and its political party platform agree with the rest of us that what they have done and what they are capable of doing is not good enough for us. They have given as best as they have and as best as they can give. Nigeria deserves and urgently needs better than what they have given or what we know they are capable of giving. To ask them to give more will be unrealistic and will only sentence Nigeria to a prison term of four years if not destroy it beyond the possibility of an early recovery and substantial growth.

“The development and modernization of our country and society must be anchored and sustained on dynamic Nigerian culture, enduring values and an enchanting Nigerian dream. We must have abiding faith in our country and its role and place within the comity of nations. Today, Nigeria needs all hands on deck. All hands of men and women of goodwill must be on deck. We need all hands to move our country forward.

You can count me with such a Movement. Last time, we asked, prayed and worked for change and God granted our request. This time, we must ask, pray and work for change with unity, security and progress. And God will again grant us. Of course, nothing should stop such a Movement from satisfying conditions for fielding candidates for elections. But if at any stage the Movement wishes to metamorphose into candidate-sponsoring Movement for elections, I will bow out of the Movement because I will continue to maintain my non-partisan position. Coalition for Nigeria must have its headquarters in Abuja.

“This Coalition for Nigeria will be a Movement that will drive Nigeria up and forward. It must have a pride of place for all Nigerians, particularly for our youth and our women. It is a coalition of hope for all Nigerians for speedy, quality and equal development, security, unity, prosperity and progress. It is a coalition to banish poverty, insecurity and despair. Our country must not be oblivious to concomitant danger around, outside and ahead. Coalition for Nigeria must be a Movement to break new ground in building a united country, a socially-cohesive and moderately prosperous society with equity, equality of opportunity, justice and a dynamic and progressive economy that is self-reliant and takes active part in global division of labour and international decision-making.

“The Movement must work out the path of development and the trajectory of development in speed, quality and equality in the short- medium- and long-term for Nigeria on the basis of sustainability, stability, predictability, credibility, security, cooperation and prosperity with diminishing inequality. What is called for is love, commitment and interest in our country, not in self, friends and kinship alone but particularly love, compassion and interest in the poor, underprivileged and downtrodden.

Cattle Colonies: Southern States Shun FG's Request For Land
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2018, 10:17 AM - No Replies

Quote:No state in the southern Nigeria has volunteered to provide land to the Federal Government to set up cattle colonies in order to address the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

It was also learnt that the 16 states that had volunteered to provide land for the establishment of the cattle colonies are from northern Nigeria.

They include Adamawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, Nasarawa and Plateau.

Others are Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Niger, Kogi and Kwara states.

Further findings from the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Monday in Abuja showed that while there were dissenting voices in some of the documented states that had volunteered to provide land, the 16 states agreed to provide 5,000 hectares of land each for the establishment of cattle colonies.

Last week, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, announced that the establishment of cattle colonies in the states that had volunteered land would commence this week.

When contacted, senior officials at the agriculture ministry re-echoed what Ogbeh had said that the Federal Government would not force any state to volunteer land for the initiative.

The officials, however, stated that the 16 states from northern Nigeria had been documented as locations where the initiative would start, adding that the government was canvassing support from more states, particularly from southern Nigeria.

Ogbeh’s Special Assistant on Media, Dr Olukayode Oyeleye, and the Director of Information, FMARD, Tolu Makinde, provided our correspondent with various speeches by the minister which extensively explained how the Federal Government planned to go about the initiative.

In one of Ogbeh’s speeches, the minister recalled that early last year, letters were sent to all state governments to know who was interested in the programme.

He said a large number responded, but some said they had no land to give, while 16 affirmed their interest to participate and pledged to make land available for the initiative.

On states that had volunteered to provide land, Ogbeh had said, “We have agreed to work together to create a new culture of cattle rearing different from what we have today. We are told that it is a custom of the herdsmen to be moving around. The current culture of open grazing is posing serious challenges.

“It does not allow harvest of milk, while the yield on milk in Nigeria is one of the lowest in the world, averaging one or half litre per day.”

He said the initiative would put a stop to cattle’s tortuous trekking, lead to better feeding, quality meat, provision of good water for the animals, good veterinary services and new environment that would protect the cattle from rustlers.

Ogbeh said the clashes between herdsmen and farmers were being politicised, adding that Nigeria had over 145 million hectares of land untouched but “yet we have no land to give for grazing.”

He said, “We have to end this fight between farmers and herdsmen. We have enough land and scientific knowledge to solve the problem except that there is too much politics and too little governance. Everything is politicised and there is too much suspicion; even with religion. Everybody is suspicious that you are about to play one trick or the other.

“Why should one set of people be in the bush because they are keeping herds and trying to give us meat when we can give them better life, secure the farmers, secure the herdsmen from rustlers and give the Fulani man, the Ijaw, the Ibiobioo, or the Yoruba, our good attention?”

On funding for cattle colonies, the minister explained that the initiative would be funded by the federal and state governments, as well as herders who are interested in the policy.

Ogbeh said, “We will join hands. First, we acquire land; they show us a place and our experts will decide whether the place is suitable or not. We push down a few trees, remove the stumps, and plant the right kind of fodder.

“When we first came and talked about grass, Nigerians were angry and they called us every kind of name in the book. But there is no way you can keep cattle if you don’t deal with the question of fodder; it is not every kind of grass that cows eat.

“So we will plant the grass, then we have a small mill which converts agro-waste to livestock feed. Much of that cost is going to be borne by the Federal Government and where the state can, it will chip in something.

“However, when herders arrive, individuals who want to play a part in place will pay a small fee. So, they will pay. They are quite willing to pay.”

Herdsmen attacks’ll be brought under control, says Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday assured Nigerians that the killings by suspected herdsmen would soon be brought under control.

He said security agents deployed in affected areas would halt the killings in no distant time.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President gave the assurance while receiving the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“The President assured Nigerians that the rising attacks on communities by herdsmen will soon be brought under control by security forces deployed in the vulnerable areas across the country.

“He said the unfortunate incident of attacks, which had resulted in loss of lives and property, had brought sorrow and hardship on many Nigerians, with the government deeply affected,” the statement read in part.

The President also said his administration remained resolute and focused on delivering on the three-pronged promise of “securing the lives and properties of Nigerians, halting the pillage of the economy by corrupt public officials, and creating employment opportunities for the youths.”

He said the initial economic challenge posed by recession was already dwindling, with the economy smarting out and posting better results on falling inflation rates, higher foreign reserves and better ranking on ease of doing business.

“If you look critically into the 2018 budget, we have already taken into account key issues of more stable electricity, construction of roads and rails, and the airport concession,” he said.

The President said the government would work more to accelerate and increase momentum in agriculture, power, gas, manufacturing and processing, while commending the Chinese government for its support in improving infrastructure in Nigeria.

“In some projects, the Chinese help us with 85 per cent payment, and soft loans that span 20 years. No country has done that for us,” he said.

In his remark, the Chairman of the NESG Board of Directors, Kyari Abba Bukar, commended the government for the “pragmatic approach’’ in engaging the residents of the Niger Delta region which had translated into steady rise in oil production.

“Your Excellency, we salute your courage in providing support to the states that have had fiscal challenges. We recognise that without the intervention of the Presidency, many state governments would have been unable to pay salaries last year,” he said.

Bukar said the outlook on the economy remained upwardly positive, projecting a 3.5 per cent GDP growth.

He urged the President to pay more attention to herdsmen attacks which could reverse the gains recorded in the agricultural sector.

IMF Forecasts 2.1% Growth For Nigeria In 2018
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 01-23-2018, 10:10 AM - No Replies

Less than two weeks after the World Bank projected Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow by 2.5 per cent in 2018, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday projected a lower growth outlook for the country.

According to the Fund’s World Economic Outlook (WEO) for 2018 titled: “Brighter Prospects, Optimistic Markets, Challenges Ahead,” Nigeria’s GDP would grow at 2.1 per cent in 2018. It also projected a lower economic growth of 1.9 per cent for the country in 2019.

The IMF explained: “The growth pickup in Sub-Saharan Africa (from 2.7 percent in 2017 to 3.3 percent in 2018 and 3.5 percent in 2019) is broadly as anticipated in the fall, with a modest upgrade to the growth forecast for Nigeria but more subdued growth prospects in South Africa, where growth is now expected to remain below 1 percent in 2018–19, as increased political uncertainty weighs on confidence and investment.”

Also, the IMF stated that fiscal policy was generally constrained by the need to gradually rebuild buffers, especially in commodity-dependent emerging market and developing economies. With the recent respite provided by the cyclical rebound in commodity prices, it urged policymakers to guard against the temptation to defer reforms and budgetary adjustments for later.

“The policy challenges for low-income countries are particularly complex, as they involve multiple, sometimes conflicting goals. These include supporting near-term activity; diversifying their economies and lifting potential output to maintain progress toward their Sustainable Development Goals; building buffers to enhance resilience, especially in commodity-dependent economies grappling with a subdued outlook,” it stated.

The IMF also revised its forecast for the world economy’s growth in both 2018 and 2019 to 3.9 per cent.

For both years, that was 0.2 percentage points higher than its last October’s forecast, and 0.2 percentage points higher than its current estimate of last year’s global growth.

According to the Economic Counsellor and Research Department Director, at the IMF,

Maurice Obstfeld, political leaders and policymakers must stay mindful that the present economic momentum reflects a confluence of factors that is unlikely to last for long.

“The global financial crisis may seem firmly behind us, but without prompt action to address structural growth impediments, enhance the inclusiveness of growth, and build policy buffers and resilience, the next downturn will come sooner and be harder to fight.

“Every government should be asking itself three questions today. First, how can we raise economic efficiency and output levels over the longer term? Second, how can we support resilience and inclusiveness while reducing the likelihood that the current upswing ends in an abrupt slowdown or even a new crisis?

“Third, how can we be sure to have the policy tools we will need to counter the next downturn?” Obstfeld added.

Quote:The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that about 7.5 million Nigerians in the labour population had nothing to do in the third quarter of 2017, but when this number is added to those who worked for less than 20 hours a week – 8.46 million, the number of unemployed persons in the country stood at 15.99 million during the period under review.

According to the NBS’ Labour Force Statistics Volume 2: Employment by Sector Report for Third Quarter of 2017, which was released in Abuja Monday, those who worked less than 20 hours a week and those who did absolutely nothing were classified as unemployed.

The report noted that in the third quarter of 2017, 77.55 million people were engaged in economic activities from a labour force of 85.08 million.

However, the statistical agency pointed out that 8.46 million were engaged for between one and 19 hours weekly; 18.02 million for 20 to 39 hours; 51.06 million above 40 hours, just as 7.53 million did absolutely nothing during the quarter under review.

According to the report, those who worked between 20 and 39 hours or did jobs not commensurate with their qualifications and skills were also classified as underemployed.
The bureau, however, stated that of 8.46 million persons that worked within 1 to19 hours a week, 1.83 million or 21.67 per cent worked for pay/wages.

The NBS report added that among the 77.55 million labour population who were engaged in some form of economic activity, 38.24 per cent of them or 29.66 million were self-employed (engaged in farming/agriculture) while 27.93 per cent or 21.66 million were self-employed in non-farming/agriculture sectors.

“A total of 19.72 million were working for pay or wages, which was equivalent to 25.42 per cent of the total workers in 2017 Q3. Paid apprentices and unpaid house workers constituted 7.30 per cent and 1.11 per cent of the total work force engaged for at last one hour a week,” it said.
It stated that 83,978 or 0.99 per cent were paid apprentices and 703,240 or 8.31 per cent were unpaid house workers.

Giving a further breakdown under the working hours’ category, the agriculture sector with 59.02 per cent or 5.01 million persons dominated, followed by trade (9.7 per cent), and professional, scientific and technical services (7.0 per cent).

The NBS added that of the 18.02 million persons that worked within 20 to 39 hours a week and classified as underemployed, 3.77 million or 20.96 per cent worked for pay/wages.
It added that 231,671 or 1.28 per cent were paid apprentices and 2.41 million or 13.39 per cent were unpaid house workers.

During the third quarter of 2017, NBS also said more males worked full-time than females, while a higher percentage of females worked part-time between 20 to 39 hours and below 20 hours per week.
The absolute number of male full-time workers (34.85 million) was more than twice the number of female full-time workers (16.21 million) in the third quarter of 2017.

The report also indicated that a larger percentage of males to females were self-employed in farming/agriculture work, while a larger percentage of females were self-employed in non-farming/agriculture work.
Agriculture dominated both the female and male labour markets, NBS stated.
