Edo: Some Libya Returnees Tested HIV Positive
[Image: LIBYAN%2BRETURNEES.jpg]
Edo State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, has said that it has concluded arrangements to recall indigenes of the state who were deported from Libya, so they can undergo HIV/AIDS screening before integrating them into the society.

Executive Officer of SACA, Mrs. Flora Oyakhilome, who disclosed this yesterday to newsmen during the screening of some of the deportees in Benin City, said that the exercise became necessary as the agency found that some of them were HIV positive.

She said: “We are making arrangement to recall all those who were deported to have them tested for HIV/AIDS. We have discussed with the Commissioner for Women Affairs.

We are compiling the list so that they will have the exact data to know how to get these persons tested and integrate into the society.”

Noting that the health of the returnees was important to the state government, Mrs Oyakhilome said any one found with the virus will be given opportunity to access the drugs.

According to her, “We are here to look at those returnees from Libya to have them counselled and tested for HIV/AIDS virus.”

We feel that their health is important, their lives are important. So, on that note, the state government has said they should be brought here for screening so that they will have a healthy lifestyle.”

Mourinho Escapes Punishment Over Pre-Manchester Derby Comments

Mourinho Escapes Punishment Over Pre-Manchester Derby Comments
[Image: mourinho.jpg]
The English Football Association said Thursday that Jose Mourinho will face no sanctions following an investigation of comments he made before the recent Manchester derby.

The FA said it has decided to take “no formal action” after reviewing evidence provided by Mourinho’s club Manchester United, understood to be relating to suggestions that Manchester City players make “tactical fouls” to break up opponents’ attacks.

However it “reminded Jose Mourinho any further public comments about match officials may result in disciplinary action”.

Mourinho’s escape from disciplinary action comes after the FA announced that no formal action would be taken against United or City following ugly scenes that overshadowed the derby at Old Trafford earlier this month.

City beat United 2-1 to consolidate their position at the top of the Premier League on December 10.

The visitors’ celebrations after the match are alleged to have sparked a row involving several players and staff from both teams in the corridor outside the dressing rooms.

During the altercation, it is understood that milk and water were thrown at Mourinho from within the City dressing room. Reports said City assistant coach Mikel Arteta was left with a cut below his eye after being hit by a plastic bottle.

The FA asked the clubs to explain the post-match fracas.

But in a statement on Thursday, the FA said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by the clubs and independent eyewitnesses, the FA will be taking no formal action.”

Following the incident, Mourinho dismissed claims his Manchester United players were in the wrong.

City manager Pep Guardiola also defended his players, although he offered an apology to United.

14 APC Governors Shut Out As Amaechi, El-Rufai Lead 2019 Scheme
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-22-2017, 01:45 PM - No Replies

Quote:Fourteen governors belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] are angry that they were deliberately not invited to two meetings organised by Kaduna State Governor Nasiru el-Rufa’i and Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi all geared towards the 2019 elections, a top source in the ruling party told Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday.

The affair has already ruffled feathers within APC and the 14 governors are demanding to know why they were left out of consultations, the source said.

Daily Trust learnt that two were held in October and December, this year at the Abuja residence of Amaechi, who hosted the meeting together with Governor El-Rufa’i. Even though the meetings were initially billed as “political consultation,” they were actually meant to extract a pledge of allegiance to President Muhammadu Buhari to emerge as APC’s candidate

for the 2019 presidential election.

According to the top sources, the first meeting which took place in October was attended by Governors El-Rufa’i, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi, Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa and Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State.

Daily Trust learnt each governor was separately invited for “political consultation.” When each governor arrived, El-Rufa’i and Amaechi prevailed on him to pledge allegiance to President Buhari in 2019. Each of the governors did so, after which El-Rufa’i led them to attend congregational Friday prayers at the Presidential Villa Mosque on Friday, October 27, 2017.

Immediately after the prayers, the president received the six governors in audience. El-Rufa’i, who spoke on their behalf, said they were at the Villa to pledge allegiance to the President and assure him of their support in the 2019 election. Daily Trust learnt that Buhari thanked them for the visit but he did not say whether or not he will seek re-election.

Two months’ later according to our highly informed sources, Amaechi and El-Rufa’i invited another batch of APC governors to the Transport Minister’s Abuja residence. Those who attended the second meeting were Governors Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa, Samuel Ortom of Benue and Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi. This meeting took place last Monday, December 18, 2017. Sources said the newly recruited governors were also invited for “political consultation” and they did not know the real reason for the invitation until they arrived at Amaechi’s house.

According to our top sources, there is a lot of speculation within APC as to the reason why 15 governors were not involved in the scheme.

The source said Governors Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State were probably shut out because they are believed to be loyal to APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, whose loyalty to Buhari in 2019 is not certain. The source however expressed surprise that governors such as Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Kashim Shettima of Borno, Aminu Masari of Katsina, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo and Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo, who are also known to be loyal Buhari supporters, were kept in the dark by El-Rufa’i and Amaechi. The source noted that these governors are also known to be close to Buhari and that Okorocha has publicly endorsed Buhari for 2019 on several occasions.

The sources said Governors Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara and Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger “were probably left out because they are believed to be close to Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki,” who is thought to nurse presidential ambitions.

The source however said “it is not clear” Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto and Muhammad Badaru Abubakar were excluded from the meetings.

Another APC chieftain who also craved for anonymity told Daily Trust that many party chieftains believe that Governor El-Rufa’i and Minister Amaechi are laying the ground for a joint ticket which they hope Buhari will endorse in case he decides not to seek re-election in 2019. He said, “They are trying to ingratiate themselves with the president, to convince him that they are his most ardent backers. The trick is that if he decides not to run as they think he won’t, they believe he will endorse the two of them to grab the party’s ticket.”

We’ll work with govs for Buhari’s second term- APC

The National Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Maimala Buni, said last night that as the ruling party, whatever the governors did legally in order to convince President Buhari to run for a second term is an endorsement of what the party had said repeatedly.

Buni said if really the governors had met with Buhari on 2019, then that should be a positive story for all well meaning Nigerians.

He said while Buhari continued to serve Nigeria and Nigerians, it should be seen as a legitimate venture if individuals or groups said he should be given a chance to continue.

“We are happy with the moves by our governors if really they made any such move to encourage Buhari to go for a second term and continue with the good work he is doing.

“Remember that we collectively passed a vote of confidence on the President during our last National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. We still stand by that; our president deserves our support.

“President Buhari has the right of first refusal. This is the tradition all over the world. As a party, we would keep to our promise through President Buhari in the areas of fighting corruption, security of life of Nigerians and revitalization of the economy through self-sufficiency in agriculture, power generation, infrastructure and education.

“Nigeria is on a path to glory through President Buhari; what the governors are doing is therefore legitimate, we are fully with them just the way Nigerians are truly in support of the president.

Eight APC Governors Will Join Atiku By February 2018– PDP Chieftain
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-22-2017, 01:31 PM - No Replies

Chief Sunny Onuesoke, a public affairs analyst, is a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State during the 2007 election. He is currently the Special Projects Director to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State. In this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, he spoke on the recent defection of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the PDP and other issues of national importance. Excerpts:

You once appealed to former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar to return to his original home which is PDP. How do you feel now that he is back?

I am very much at home now that he has returned. However I am still waiting for others like Bukola Saraki, Florence Ita-giwa, Yakubu Dogara, and even nothing is wrong seeing the president declaring for PDP. I believe that a big fish like Bola Tinubu is expected to declare for PDP soon than later. Do not forget that PDP remains the largest party in the continent of Africa. What I know very well is that the return of Atiku has made me proud and vindicated me as the first Nigerian and first PDP member in the country to clamour for the return of the great Waziri of Africa. I am very happy with his return and I believe he will add great value to our party.

Are you not surprised that nobody in APC has defected to APC with Atiku?

That is not true. In a very few moment from now, not less than eight governors, twenty two senators and sixty six House of Representatives members of APC stocks will be declaring and returning to PDP before the end of February 2018. It is a concluded issue for now. And for your information, it will shock you to note that two APC governors are among the eight expected governors who has concluded their declaration and return to the party. Do not be surprised that 35 percent of the Federal exco members are already prepared to declare for PDP.

If Atiku gets the PDP ticket, do you see him securing victory for PDP in 2019?

As for now, we are not talking of securing the ticket or not. What we are doing now in Wadata Plaza is to fix the party back to the foundation days. PDP is undergoing massive re-organisation and putting things in the right direction and reconciliation are ongoing to make sure we do not repeat our mistakes. Atiku is a household name in PDP and beyond. Atiku is one among the prospective presidential aspirants in PDP who can look at Buhari eyeball to eyeball and tell him that what you are doing is wrong and I think you should now quit for development to come to Nigeria. Atiku contributed 35 percent to Buhari’s victory in 2015.

Looking at Atiku and his desire to become president, do you see a man who is passionate about making Nigeria better or somebody out on selfish agenda?

Sure he is passionate about making Nigeria better. He has the knowhow of how to make Nigeria work. He is an industrialist of a known reckoning. From those who have indicated interest so far, if we are looking for a president with a broad mind, I think Atiku is number one among the lot. From all indications, Atiku if given the mandate will make a truly national president.

A chairmanship aspirant of your party, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja has dragged your party to court following the outcome of the party’s recently held convention. Do you think this will augur well for the party?

Adedoja has the right to protest if he knew he won the chairmanship or he was cheated by the convention committee. But as for me, for us not to repeat our past mistake of 2015 then we must call for a truce committee to be headed by party members of high regard that will command national respect. It is better to jaw-jaw than war-war and we cannot afford to be having legal battles now that election is around the corner.

Your recent comment that President Buhari can’t dictate to state governors on how to spend Paris Club refund drew backlash from some Nigerians. Do you still stand by that comment?

I stood by my comments on that. Nigerians should not forget that the Paris Club refund is the constitutional right of the governors. The federal government does not have any control over them on how to dispense the fund. Even the Accountant General of the Federation cannot order or demand obligatorily from any tier of government, including the 36 states’ information on how to spend the Paris Club refunds. On the issue of salaries payment, it is not all the states that owe workers salaries. Delta for example does not owe workers salaries, so while the blanket order without verification. Thus, such holistic instruction from the President may not go well with some governor most especially when they have different pressing issues in their various states. I would have equally expected the President to instruct the governors to channel the fund to other area of development in their states instead of payment of salaries alone. The president should advice governors and including the presidency as a matter of urgency to concentrate with Paris fund in areas of parastatal investments, but not mostly workers salaries. Is Nigeria a civil service investment concern or it should industrial investment concern?

But do you think the governors should be monitored on how the funds are utilised?

Yes, they could be monitored so as to ensure accountability but not to dictate to them on how to use the funds .

Coming to Delta state, do you think Governor Okowa has done enough to justify reelection in 2019?

Of course! With the support Governor Okowa is getting on a daily basis from the PDP family in Urhoboland and the entire good people of Delta state, I believe his reelection in 2019 is guaranteed. I can confidently tell you that 87 percent of Urhobo in PDP are solidly behind him and this is the same story everywhere you go in Delta state.

UN Votes, Rejects Trump's Decision On Recognition Of Jerusalem As Israel Capital

Breaking News: UN Votes Unanimously To Rejects Trump's Decision On Recognition Of Jerusalem As Israel's Capitall
The United Nation (UN) General Assembly has decisively backed a resolution effectively calling on the US to withdraw its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The text says that any decisions regarding the status of the city are "null and void" and must be cancelled.
According BBC News, the non-binding resolution was approved by 128 states, with 35 abstaining and nine others voting against. It came after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut financial aid to those who backed the resolution.
Before the vote, the Palestinian foreign minister urged member states to reject "blackmail and intimidation".
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meanwhile said it would reject the anticipated result "outright" and dismissed the UN as a "house of lies".
What is so contentious about Jerusalem's status?
The status of Jerusalem goes to the heart of Israel's conflict with the Palestinians. Israel occupied the east of the city in the 1967 Middle East war and regards the entire city as its indivisible capital. The text put forward by Turkey and Yemen does not mention the US, but expresses "deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem".
It also says
"any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council".

EFCC Arrests Chairman Of Innoson Motors On Orders Of Buhari Presidency
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 08:36 PM - No Replies

Law enforcement officers said to be from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Innocent Chukwuma, the founder and chairman of Innoson Motors.
Investigations revealed that his arrest is connected with an order from Abubakar Malami, the federal attorney general of the country.
Cornel Osigwe, a spokesperson of Innoson Motors confirmed to journalists that Mr. Chukwuma was arrested at his residence in Enugu around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
“His arrest is in connection to the ongoing case he has with GTBank,” Mr. Osigwe said by telephone.
Mr. Osigwe said his principal was accused of jumping bail, wondering how someone who was never invited by the EFCC much less being arrested would be accused of fleeing from the law.
“He was never invited by the EFCC, we challenge them to come forward with any evidence showing that he jumped bail,” Mr. Osigwe said. “This is GTBank using federal authorities to persecute an illustrious citizen who has done a lot to improve the economic development of this country.”
The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he had not been briefed about the arrest when reached for comments by PREMIUM TIMES.
A spokesperson for GTBank, Meksley Nwagboh, denied the bank’s involvement in the arrest, telling PREMIUM TIMES that if the “EFCC arrested him they will be in a best position to comment on the reason for his arrest.”
Innoson Group has accused GTBank of being indebted to the indigenous auto manufacturing company up to N8.5 billion in a series of damages that stemmed from illegal service deductions by the bank.
An initial fraud case brought against Mr. Chukwuma was withdrawn earlier this year.
But, Abubakar Malami, the federal attorney general, revived the case at the Federal High Court in Abuja as GTBank maintains its allegations that Mr. Chukwuma manipulated bank and shipping documents to obtain tax waivers from the Nigerian government. https://www.thetrentonline.com/efcc-arre...on-motors/

“There are petitions against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by some Nigerians, but my Committee does not see Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman and that is why he was not invited”, Anyanwu said.
The lawmaker further said his committee would use 2018 budget defense to track down Magu.
“The 2018 budget is here, we will it as instrument against EFCC for defying Senate resolution on Ibrahim Magu”, Anyanwu submitted.

2019: I’ve Not Made Up My Mind To Run For President – Atiku
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 06:53 PM - No Replies

His recent political comments, realignments and permutations notwithstanding, Atiku Abubakar has not decided to run for president in 2019.
The former vice-president told VOA Hausa when he featured on a magazine program there Tuesday that Nigerians will know when he eventually takes the bold move.
“For now I have not made up my mind,” Mr. Abubakar said. “When I decide, I will let the world know.”
Mr. Abubakar’s statement is capable of demoralising his supporters, some of whom have already commenced groundwork for his 2019 bid, said Azibola Omekwe, the national coordinator of The Atiku Rennaisance, a political group.
Mr. Azibola said the 2019 ambition of Mr. Atiku has gained considerable momentum in recent weeks, a ‘moving train’ he said would be difficult to reverse.
“Just recently, some people came out to say that they will sue the former vice-president if he fails to join the race,” Mr. Azibola said. “That’s how serious some of his supporters have now taken his ambition.”
Mr. Abubakar’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, said the politician’s fans should not be demoralised by the comments.
“He spoke in the context of his ongoing consultations, but he’ll eventually make up his mind to run,” Mr. Ibe said. “Those who have started politicking on his behalf should continue.”
Mr. Azibola acknowledged that the final decision on Mr. Atiku’s political choice in 2019 would be the former vice-president’s to make.
“But I’m sure he will ultimately decide to run because he’s the best option to beat President Buhari,” said Mr. Azibola, a former state legislator in Bayelsa. “We expect him to do this within the first quarter of 2018.”
The last one month had seen Mr. Abubakar resign from the ruling All Progressives Congress to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, under which he served eight years as VP between 1999-2007.
After using his resignation letter to convey his misgivings about President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Atiku granted a media interview in which he accused the president of incompetence.
He also accused Mr. Buhari of stoking ethnic and tribal divisions in the country, saying he will handily ‘defeat’ the president in 2019.
Mr. Buhari has not openly exchanged words with Mr. Abubakar, but the presidency warned the former vice president to stop disparaging the president.
The reprimand followed allegations that Mr. Buhari was banned from travelling to the United States for 15 years as a consequence of his religious views.
Mr. Abubakar used the purported ban to ward off allegations that he is wanted in the U.S. for fraud.
Mr. Abubakar said he had applied for visa to the U.S. but was denied on administrative grounds.
He, however, failed to present evidence of his claim that Mr. Buhari was also banned from the U.S. despite being challenged by the State House to do so.
American authorities have not responded to PREMIUM TIMES requests seeking clarification about both Mr. Atiku’s status and the alleged ban of the president some years back.

Customs Generates N1.01trillion Revenue, Exceeds N770.5bn Year Target By
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated N1.012 trillion as revenue, exceeding the N770.5 billion target it set for 2017 by about 23.9 percent.
NCS’ Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, in a briefing at the headquarters in Abuja on Thursday said the Service achieved the feat due to the dogged implementation of the Presidential mandate to Restructure, Reform and Raise revenue (3Rs) by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd).
He said: “Nigeria Customs Service has recorded the highest revenue collection ever, of N1.012trn with five more working days to the end of 2017.”
Mr Attah noted that the performance in revenue collection shows N241.68bn (about 23.9 per cent) increase over the N770.5bn target for the year, and that it was well above the N898.67bn collected in 2016.
He said it was despite the economic recession experienced earlier in the year with low volume imports, occasioned by restriction on 41 items from accessing foreign exchange.
Among the strategies taken by the Col. Ali to raise the revenue include strategic redeployment of officers and men, overhaul and re-training operatives of the Customs Intelligence Unit, and intensified anti-smuggling exercise through the Compliance Team.
Others are prompt reward for hard work and punishment for defaulters, transparent and merit-based promotion, stakeholders’ sensitisation, and maximising automation through monitoring, blocking and recovering lost revenues.
He said the ruthless anti-smuggling operations resulted in over 4,000 assorted seizures with over N11bn in value in 2017 including 2,671 pump action rifles and 13,000 metric tonnes of rice.
“It helped to increase levels of compliance in terms of honest declarations and correct payment of duties by traders to avoid loss of their goods and possible jail term,” he said.
The Service also recorded injuries and lost six Officers in the process of enforcing the law during the year even as it noted that some unpatriotic elements are still sabotaging government policies especially with the smuggling of rice and vehicles through the land borders.
“The CGC has directed sustained onslaught against smugglers especially at this festive period. He however in the spirit of the season, enjoined all stakeholders to reflect on the values of patriotism and resolve to avoid all forms of smuggling,” Attah confirmed

  My Husband’s Manhood Malfunctions –wife
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 06:48 PM - No Replies

A 25-year-old housewife, Mrs. Helen Bassey Umoh, yesterday asked an Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo to dissolve her nine-month-old marriage over ‘malfunctioning’ of her husband’s joystick.
Helen, a graduate of Business Administration, pleaded with the court to dissolve the union, because her husband, Mr. Michael Bassey Umoh’s “manhood always has inconsistent erection and that anytime the manhood becomes erect, he ejaculates within a few seconds which is not expected of a real man”.
The petitioner also alleged that her husband did not make known his health status before the marriage, which took place in April.
She said: “My husband cannot satisfy me in bed especially in the night. Anytime I deny him sex, he would pick up a fight; I am tired of the marriage. The marriage has not produced any child and I am fed up with my husband’s harshness. I urge the court to dissolve the marriage because there is no love between us.
“My husband is fond of beating me unnecessarily and would at times curse me and lock me inside our bedroom. My husband blames me for our childlessness. I cannot continue to endure in an unproductive marriage and with a man that has no respect for his wife.”
Helen also told the court that her husband accused her of having extra-marital affairs and prevented her family members from visiting her.
However, Umoh denied all the allegations during cross examination.
He said: “The non-erection of my manhood is not regular; it is just that I am not always in the mood whenever she is in the mood. I don’t use any enhancement drugs for sex as she alleged.”
Umoh also told the court that his wife had in August left his house that she was no longer interested in the marriage, but later came back in October and decided to leave again.

Innoson’s arrest endless humiliation of a conquered people – Eliot Ugochukwu-Uko
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 03:17 PM - No Replies

The arrest of the founder of Innoson vehicle manufacturing company Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has continued to cause ripples all over Igbo Land.
Speaking through a statement made available to DAILY POST, Evang. Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, founder Igbo Youth Movement, described it as an endless humiliation of a conquered people.
Ugochukwu-Uko, who is also the Secretary, Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA) as well as Deputy Secreatry, Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT) said it was shocking that the EFCC took such action when “the alleged legal issues he has with a commercial bank is also said to be in court.”
He noted that “the power-show displayed on Tuesday in Enugu by EFCC’s Magu is a loud statement to the Igbo Nation that we are perceived as slaves in Nigeria.
“Sources close to Innoson confirms there was no earlier invitation, nor notice by the EFCC, before Tuesday’s Invasion. The raw display of brute force by the EFCC, the empty shells of expended bullets thrown all over the compound, is a sad reminder that in Nigeria, Easterners remain second class citizens.
“Will Magu abduct Aliko Dangote that way? The total disregard for the ongoing court actions and a resort to military era abductions confirm to all, that Ndigbo remain endangered species in Nigeria.
“The greatest employer of labour in Igbo land and a genius who has transformed the economic landscape of this clime, in the area of automobile manufacturing, is abducted in a humiliating manner at his residence in Enugu, ostensibly over issues with a bank, issues which lawyers are handling. This is a loud message to the people of Eastern Nigeria of our status in Nigeria.
“Everybody knows, Aliko Dangote cannot be abducted that way over issues with a commercial bank.
“The owners of Nigeria keep reminding the people of Eastern region, that, they are not wanted in Nigeria.
“An emergency meeting of Eastern consultative Assembly holds this week to deliberate on this humiliation on a leading light in our land.
“Those who believe you can treat Ndigbo anyhow and nothing will happen are wrong. Not anymore.”

Can FBI Interfere Between Citibank And Ford Motors?: Saraki Speaks On Innoson Arrest
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 03:13 PM - No Replies

Senate President Bukola Saraki has expressed displeasure over the arrest of Innocent Chukwuma, chief executive officer (CEO) of Innoson Motors.
On Tuesday, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Chukwuma at his Enugu residence.
The commission said it picked him up after he failed to honour its invitation.
Although, the anti-graft agency did not state the particular reason for arresting Chukwuma, there are reports that it is as a result of a dispute between the businessman and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB)
Speaking on Wednesday after, Ike Ekeweremadu, deputy senate president, drew the attention of the senators to the matter, the senate president said it is the role of lawmakers to protect the fundamental rights of citizens.
“As a society that we are all planning that our country to be civilised, I think this does not speak well of the country. How a private commercial transaction has now become the focus of the EFCC. I think this area is the focus,” Saraki said.
“Whether he is owing or not, I think we must be seen protecting the fundamental rights. I have never seen where FBI interferes between Citibank and Ford Motors, or the financial crime agency in UK intervenes. We are just making a mockery of ourselves and we really should be able to do the right thing.”
Earlier, Ekeweremadu wondered why the Innoson CEO would be treated like a “common criminal” over a transaction between him and his bank.
“Any person who is arrested and detained should be informed reason for his arrest. As I speak Mr Innoson Chukwuma is yet to be informed of what led to his arrest or detention but if you go through the media today, the story is that he is owing GTB,” he said.
“As a lawyer I’m at a loss as to how a transaction between someone and his bank will inform the EFCC. Mr Innocent Chukwuma is one of the greatest industrialists we have in this country today.
“He employed over 50,000 people, we are talking about unemployment and these are people that are helping address unemployment issues in Nigeria and he was bundled like a common criminal over a transaction between him and his bank. The story he told me is that he is not owing the bank anything. He borrowed money from the bank which he has since repaid but the bank kept charging money and withdrawing it from his account.
“They set up an audit and the auditor came to a conclusion that they had deducted more than N500 million, he was insisting on 22 percent, the bank said they will pay 17 percent so that is where they had the disagreement and they went to court but judgement was delivered in his favour at the federal high court and the court of appeal and the matter is currently at the supreme court.
“The fact that the matter is in court and it was a commercial transaction gives no room for the intervention of EFCC. I will like to appeal to this senate to ensure that Mr Innocent Chukwuma is released promptly.”

Aiteo Group Emerges Businessday’s ‘company Of The Year 2017′
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 03:04 PM - No Replies

In a little over a year, Aiteo Group, a leading energy company in Nigeria, under the leadership of Benedict Peters has ramped up crude production to 90,000 bpd from an average production of the 23,000 bpd after acquiring OML 29 for $2.8 billion from Shell at a time when local oil companies struggled to manage divested assets.
OML29 stretches over an area of 983 square kilometres, and includes the Nembe, Santa Barbara and Okoroba Oil Fields, including related facilities such as the 97-kilometre Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL). It also has a 100 kilometres long pipeline with a capacity of 600 thousand barrels per day.
In March 2015, Aiteo Eastern E & P, a subsidiary of Aiteo Group, acquired SPDC’s interest in OML 29 and the NCTL. Total E&P Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited – the other joint venture partners – also assigned their 10 percent and 5 percent interests respectively to Aiteo, giving the company a 45 percent interest in OML 29.
The bold acquisition has not only ramped up Nigeria’s crude production to the 1.8million bpd prior to militant attacks, It has proven that that indigenous companies can successfully operate an oil asset. The company also highlighted several existing and developing projects that could potentially grow its asset production to over 150,000bpd and 200 million standard cubic feet of gas daily in the near future
“Our outlook is bright with 3 producing oil fields and viable crude exports via Bonny terminal. We also have contingent resources to appraise and prospective ones to explore in the medium-to-long term, including full 3D seismic coverage and 2P NNS reserves of more than 1.6bn bbl. Put simply, we have a clear vision for the future with the experience and assets crucial to providing oil and gas consistently on a regional and global scale,” said Peters in a statement.
Some months down the line, this legacy achievement is impacting lives and has created significant direct and indirect employment in Nigeria’s highly competitive oil and gas industry.
Aiteo legitimately secured the oil bock after a keenly contested but transparent divestment bid driven by Shell. The funding of Aiteo’s acquisition was made possible through a combination of debt and equity involving several Nigerian and international banks. All these entities conducted stringent and substantial due diligence before backing the Aiteo Consortium’s bid for the oil block, adjudged one of the most transparent in the history of Nigeria.
Aiteo Group, since its formation in 1999 by a young ambitious Benedict Peters, has transformed into Nigeria’s pre-eminent energy conglomerate with an international focus. It is leading the vanguard with innovative solutions and strategic investments across the energy value chain – petroleum products storage and distribution; natural gas, power and exploration as well as production. The Group’s subsidiaries include Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company Limited (AEEPCo), Aiteo Downstream and Aiteo Power.
As Executive Vice Chairman, Peters has been responsible for directing the company in terms of strategic development, policy formulation and execution.
“Our group’s vision is to create the most sustainable energy solutions to power growth on the African continent. By working together, we inspire people and communities across Africa to have a collective vision; Aiteo is showing its commitment to encouraging a transformed energy sector which creates health and wellness as well as resilient economic prosperity across its stakeholders. We have shown by our story that indigenous oil companies are competent enough to participate along with international oil majors in the exploration and development of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon resources, beyond the provisions of the 2010 local content act,” says Peters.
Aiteo has very strong ambitions still. It has already identified several existing and developing projects that could potentially grow its asset production to over 150,000bpd, with a vision to provide oil and gas consistently on a regional and global scale.
In the last one year, Aiteo has also made significant investments in sports development. In April 2017, the company announced a record N2.5 billion partnership agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to pay the salaries of the Super Eagles’ coaching crew at N500 million per annum for the next five years. This social investment, which covers all the local and foreign components of the NFF’s financial obligations for the main team, earned the company the title ‘Official Optimum Partner of the NFF.’
This decision has made a two-pronged impact. It has put paid to the problem of delayed payments affecting the morale of our coaches and the Super Eagles’ performance, resulting in Nigeria’s qualification for the Russia 2018 World Cup.
“We are fulfilled that the Super Eagles have qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Nigerians are passionate about football and as a company, we are passionate about things which unite Nigerians. We are committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s national soccer teams are well managed and primed to bring glory to our nation at all tournaments,” said Benedict Peters after the Super Eagles’ much-celebrated qualification.
Acknowledging Aiteo’s support for the Super Eagles, NFF President Amaju Pinnick said: “Our teams are focused and show technical depth and excellence, thanks to AITEO’s financial intervention. The Nigerian soccer team is inspired, confident and relaxed that all bills are paid as opposed to the former times when players and coaches paid for their expenses themselves, all were dejected and most were hardly reimbursed.”
Amidst the euphoria, Aiteo did not neglect a key player on the national team whose contributions were interrupted by health challenges. It therefore committed to and redeemed a pledged to contribute N10 Million towards the treatment of Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, for every goal scored by the Eagles against the indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the return leg in Yaounde. Ikeme was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in July, 2017.
As an indigenous oil company, Aiteo has also made significant contributions towards developing the local football league. In June 2017, the company announced another N2.5 billion agreement to underwrite the costs associated with organising the Federation Cup, Nigeria’s equivalent of the English FA Cup and which is the oldest football tournament in Nigeria. The contest, rechristened Aiteo Cup, had been struggling for sponsorship before Aiteo’s intervention. The 5-year package guarantees a monetary reward for the tournament’s best performing teams, with the winner of the men’s category guaranteed N25 million as prize money while their female counterparts will get N10 million for winning.
In October 2017, Aiteo also signed a partnership agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to sponsor the Annual CAF Awards 2018, which honours footballers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of football development on the continent.
As a tribute to the company’s support for football development, international football governing body, the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), extended a special invitation to Aiteo’s Deputy Managing Director Francis Peters to attend the recent FIFA Best Football Awards in London.
The company’s marks is outside sports, Aiteo is also committed to host community development. As such, it shares economic benefits with these communities by providing work opportunities, offering training programmes and supporting local businesses.
Aiteo has a clear vision for the future with the experience and assets crucial to providing oil and gas consistently on a regional and global scale. The company is currently developing a pipeline of power generation projects across the country with an ambitious five-year plan which includes transforming the oil-rich Niger Delta region into a power generation hub and ultimately tackling Nigeria’s power challenges through its legacy investments in the gas-to-power value chain. It is also working on developing a 24,000 MT LPG facility in the Delta with associated LPG distributing facilities nationwide.
Aiteo Power is developing a gas-to-power strategy by leveraging its power and upstream capabilities. It is utilizing the significant gas resources in OML 29 that would see the oil rich Niger Delta region become a hub for power generation in Nigeria. Aiteo Power is also a supporter of renewable, clean energy; developing multiple solar energy power projects within the sub-Sahara African region.
For its belief in Nigeria and significant investments in football and community development in the last one year, BusinessDay’s board of editors is pleased to name Aiteo ‘Company of the Year 2017’.

  El-rufai: "Atiku Didn’t Spend A Dime On Buhari’s 2015 Campaign"
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 02:57 PM - No Replies

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday disputed claims that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was one of the major funders of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 campaign.
El-Rufai who spoke on a Voice of America (VOA) Hausa Service Programme, “Democracy Today”, challenged the former Vice President to come up with evidence to prove that he donated to Buhari’s 2015 campaign, according to TheNation.
He also said Atiku left All Progressives Congress (APC) because he has seen that with Governors’ endorsement of Buhari for second term, there was no room for him to run for president.
El-Rufai said: “We in the APC were aware from the outset that Atiku was going to leave the APC back to the PDP in December and we thank God that he left in November.
“Atiku had seen that we in the APC, especially the APC governors, had resolved to support President Muhammadu Buhari to run again in 2019. That is why he left APC since he was only looking for where to contest for president.
“Even in the 2015 APC primary election, Atiku didn’t come second; he was floored by Kwankwaso. So, even if President Buhari decides not to contest, Atiku knows that the APC ticket is not sure for him. Majority of the APC governors have endorsed President Buhari as our candidate for 2019.
“And God has continued to improve the health condition of the President. Each time I see him, I thank God and I still pray that God continues to give him sound health.
“So, by 2019, we are waiting to see Atiku contest; we are waiting to contest against him and see what happens. I cannot lose sleep because Atiku wants to contest because, by God’s grace, this is the reign of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Agreed, in politics if you lose even only one person, it should worry you, but the utterances of the former Vice President that APC used his money who did he give the money to? For me, I know those that supported us with their money and property that we used during election, and I never heard the name of Atiku that he brought a dime. If Atiku said he brought money, who did he give it to? Let him come and say it and how much did he give and what was it used for?
“And, in fact, if Atiku brought money, I ought to know, because I was part of the leadership of the party and during campaign, along with former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. We were at the centre of the presidential campaign. Therefore, we are supposed to know. So, let him mention who he gave the money and how much?
He also said only APC members who are greedy would follow Atiku to PDP.

Withdrawal Of $1bn From ECA Exposed Tinubu, Amaechi, El-Rufai - Reno Omokri
User Avatar Forum: Politics

How withdrawal of $1bn from Excess Crude Account exposed Tinubu, Amaechi, El-Rufai – Reno Omokri
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has reacted to the position of Zamfara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulazeez Yari on the $1billion withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account.
Omokri said Yari’s statement on the sum said to be for the fight against insurgency and insecurity across the country has exposed the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and All Progressives Congress, APC, national leader, Bola Tinubu as liars.
Yari had stated that the decision to allow the Federal Government access the money was a collective one by the forum in regards to security of Nigerians which is a top priority.
http://dailypost.ng/2017/12/17/gov-yari-...haram-war/
Reacting to Yari’s statement, Omokri said the governor’s comment has put him and the APC to ridicule.
In a statement he personally signed, Omokri maintained that Yari’s statement has shown that APC members are “a patently dishonest bunch with no credibility whatsoever.”
The statement reads, “In an attempt to justify the dubious process by which $1 Billion was taken from the Excess Crude Account by the Federal Government ostensibly to fund an anti terror war with the same Boko Haram that the Buhari administration said was ‘finished’ and ‘technically defeated’, the Zamfara state Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum made some startling revelations which has exposed him to ridicule and further shown that his party, the All Progressive Congress, and its members, are a patently dishonest bunch with no credibility whatsoever.
“Speaking yesterday (Tuesday 19th December, 2017) at Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Alhaji Yari said of the $1 Billion withdrawal as follows:
“This thing (ECA withdrawal) has been done in 2014 where $2bn was withdrawn in agreement with the governors at that meeting. Governor Akpabio was the one that moved the motion. This is not the first time a decision like this is being taken. It happened during Jonathan’s era when they took $2bn. We all agreed at that time collectively in the same chamber to withdraw $2bn to procure equipment for the military and also for logistics for the military. That was what generated discussions at the same chamber and there was no controversy and no opposition to the decision at that time.”
“Notice from this statement that Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, an APC member, is now admitting that he and his colleagues in the APC all agreed to the withdrawal of $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account that was made in 2014. Note further that he said there was no controversy and no opposition to the decision taken in 2014.
“However, Nigerians may recall that at the material time when this incident occurred, both the All Progressive Congress and its prominent members like the then Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, the then Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, and their National Leader, Bola Tinubu, denied that there was ever any agreement with the Jonathan administration over the withdrawals and publicly attacked the then President and accused him of looting and other forms of corruption.
“In fact, in 2015, when the former Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala said exactly what Governor Yari has been forced to admit to, Governor Nasir El-Rufai (who was not even a governor in 2014 and was not present at the meeting Governor Yari has described) called Dr. Mrs. Iweala a liar and described her as ‘morally flexible’.
“Then on the 1st of July, 2015, then Governor Adams Oshiomhole was interviewed on Channels television and described as untrue the statement by Dr. Mrs. Iweala that the governors under the aegis of the National Economic Council agreed to the withdrawal of $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account and called the process by which the money was withdrawn by the Jonathan administration as an “administrative arrangement not known to the constitution”.
“Only as recently as last week, the fallacious Rotimi Amaechi repeated the falsehood that neither he nor his colleagues were ever consulted or gave their acquiescence before the Jonathan administration withdrew funds from the Excess Crude Account.
“Again, at the material time in 2014, when the Jonathan administration tried to explain why it needed the funds to fight the same Boko Haram insurgents that the Buhari government claimed has been technically defeated, the APC released a statement and ‘described as disingenuous and sheer blackmail the argument that the money is for national security or that it would facilitate the release of the over 200 school girls who were abducted about 100 days ago.’
“The APC spokesman, Lai Mohammed, who is now the minister of information further said “putting more money in the hands of an incompetent and massively corrupt administration can only encourage more incompetence and corruption. Not done, Mr. Lai Mohammed also claimed that the monies then President Jonathan was seeking was meant to be used to impeach APC Governors and rig the 2015 elections.
“His exact words were “With the Jonathan Administration allegedly spending or setting aside an average of 2 billion Naira to impeach each Governor of APC states, and the PDP-led Administration using the common wealth to bribe voters in a desperate bid to win elections at all costs. Not to be outdone, the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, called the request by the Jonathan administration “dubious”.
“But in keeping with the principle that no matter how far and fast falsehood has traveled, it must eventually be overtaken by truth, Governor Abdulaziz Yari has now vindicated both former President Jonathan and the former minister of finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, by admitting in 2017 that both he and his colleagues (which included Rotimi Amaechi and Adams Oshiomhole) actually agreed with the Jonathan administration to withdrew $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account in 2014.
“I therefore call on the Nigerian public and the international community to note that the APC and its members all lack credibility and are willing to say anything at anytime to justify their political position irrespective of whether it is true or false.”

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has ordered the immediate investigation of a contract awarded under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the distribution of books to schools across the country.
Government, in August 2013, had awarded contract worth N8.68 billion for the printing and distribution of textbooks as well as library materials for public primary schools’ classes one to six and junior secondary schools.
FEC, which commenced yesterday at about 11a.m. shortly after the swearing-in of seven Permanent Secretaries at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The meeting was rescheduled to continue today.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said however that Council resolved to investigate dthe istribution of textbooks to schools in the country between 2009 and 2011.
Amaechi said it would be done before commencement of distribution of N6.9 billion textbooks for schools in the country.
The Minister of Transport said Council approved production and distribution of core textbooks for early education classes 1-3 and for primary 4-6 in public schools nationwide.

This is to help capture those equipment flying below the radar, for us to be able to pick them because it will be dangerous if we cannot because a lot of them use helicopters.
“There was also an approval for the consultancy services to construct a new terminal building at Mallam Aminu Kano Airport. We just want to complete the payment, which is N621 million.
“Council also approved the purchase of flight calibration inspection at the cost of N111.6 million.
“One other key project that was approved is the engagement of consultants for the project management, monitoring and evaluation including media and public relations services of the UNEP report.”

He said the initial cost was N3.486 billion and it has been increased to N3.925 billion, which has a variation of N439.113 million.
He said Council also gave approval for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Mausoleum in Anambra State. The project was started, but not completed from previous administration.
He said: “Council approved the additional funding to complete it from N1.496 billion N1.953 billion.”
Fashola said Council also approved money for the intervention of education and healthcare. It approved the provision of independent power plant to nine universities and one teaching hospital as the first phase of the pilot programme to cover 37 universities at the cost of N38.965 billion.

CBN Withholds $5bn Illegally — Reps
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-21-2017, 11:41 AM - No Replies

The House of Representatives said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is hiding $5 billion and failed to declare same to the federation.
The House yesterday said the amount was as a result of the 0.25 per cent deductions from all foreign-denominated revenue as ‘exchange commission,’ for converting dollars to naira.
The House said even after making the deductions, the balance credited to the federation account at various times have been in negative difference, running into billions of naira per year.
It also said the office of the Accountant General of the Federation failed to report the infractions of under-remittance of millions of dollars and trillions of naira into the federation account by the CBN.
Adopting a motion by Ayo Omidiran (APC, Osun), the House resolved to constitute an adhoc panel to investigate the matter and report back within eight weeks.
The House said the CBN, instead of embarking on its statutory role of receiving financial in-flows on behalf of the federation, now goes a step further to usurp the powers of the accountant general by preparing the federation account.
The lawmakers said the apex bank uses the opportunity “to manipulate the system by opening various accounts not known to the three tiers of government, where funds are remitted, hidden, diverted and spent without authorization.”
The House said in 2006, the apex bank opened various accounts with JP Morgan Chase Bank in New York in which IOCs remit revenues and that it still operates an account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to date.
Meanwhile, CBN said in a statement last night by its Acting Director Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor, that allegation that the apex bank diverted the said amount was ‘untrue’.

*THE WINNING MENTALITY .*

Thursday, December 21st .
Pastor Chris

_*I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).*_

Those who grew up in homes where their confession was at variance with the thoughts in the opening text may have had it difficult to cultivate the kind of mentality Paul exhibited. They might have grown up listening to their parents say, “I can’t do this,” or “I can’t do that”; “there’s no money,” or “we don’t have enough.” But you see, this is the Spirit’s desire for you: to cultivate the “I can do” mentality.

That’s the way I think. Whatever God has laid for me to do, I can do it. I can do anything; I can have anything; I can! In Paul’s epistle to the Philippians, we read of his beautiful, Spirit-inspired testimony of himself. He had come to terms with the truth that the ability to do the impossible was at work in him, and that he was solely responsible for the extent to which that power in him worked.

Notice that he didn’t say, “We can do all things...”; rather, he personalized it; this was his very own testimony. He made a confession that the ability of the Spirit had been granted him to achieve supernatural exploits in life. This same Apostle, in Ephesians 3:20-21, writes, _*“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”*_

Practise this. You might even make a lot of mistakes, but don’t be discouraged; that doesn’t mean anything, because you’re still learning; soon enough you’ll perfect it. Someone might say “I don’t have sufficient time to achieve the things i want to do,” no! When you practise making the “I can do” confession, such things will be totally eradicated from your vocabulary, and therefore, your system.

Rather than saying you don’t have time for this or that, keep your composure, knowing that the God who lives in you is the owner of time. In Joel 2:25 (MSG), He said, _*“I’ll make up for the years of the locust, the great locust devastation—Locusts savage, locusts deadly, fierce locusts, locusts of doom….”*_ If He can restore wasted years, He can restore wasted months, wasted weeks, wasted days, wasted hours, wasted minutes, wasted seconds, and wasted moments. Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for your power that works in me mightily. I declare that I can do all things through your Spirit that’s at work in me. Nothing is impossible unto me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

About 87 People Enter Lagos Per Hour On Daily Basis ―commissioner
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-20-2017, 03:29 PM - No Replies

Quote:LAGOS State government on Tuesday expressed worries over the rising housing deficit in the state which it puts at three million units.

Commissioner for Housing, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, disclosed this at the second Real Estate Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, pointing out that about 87 people per hour entered Lagos on daily basis.

Lawal said the fact that Lagos is Nigeria economic nerves centre had made it susceptible to influx of people which he noted had in turn put continuous pressures on the state’s infrastructures.

“About 87 people per hour enter Lagos on daily basis. This has led to unusual pressure on land and housing infrastructural facilities. And these have even led to the inadequate housing and increased number of slums in the state. Today, the state has about three million units of housing deficit. But in the next four years, we planned to provide 20,000 units of houses in the next four years,” Gbolahan said.

The commissioner, however, disclosed that the administration had appointed facilities managers for both it’s old and news housing estates, saying that with such appointments, the tide of continuous depreciation in values of such houses would be stemmed.

Special Adviser on Housing, Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, in her remark, decried the negative effect of the fraudulent real estate practices on the state economy.

“It is instructive to state here that the world over, fraudulent practices is age long issue, since we are all humans, such acts are to be expected in our day-to-day activities or daily relationship.

“Real estate fraud is when an individual or agency uses false information or misrepresents the information for any Real Estate Transaction. Such activities have adverse effects on economic activities in the state,” Akinsola said.

Breaking! Disquiet in Kano as dep gov 'withdraws' support for Ganduje

Disquiet in Kano as dep gov withdraws support for Ganduje
There is crack in the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following an alleged leaked audio in which Deputy Governor Prof. Hafiz Abubakar alluded that he would dump his principal, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and return to the university.

Abubakar, a Professor at the Bayero University, Kano reportedly vented his anger over developments in the Kano chapter of the APC where he was reportedly sidelined in the scheme of things.

He was said to have been “railroaded” by ex- Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as Ganduje’s deputy ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election and the “marriage of convenience” had since deteriorated.

Ganduje had since parted ways with Kwankwaso even as there were suggestions that the former Kano governor was realigning with his political allies and even some foes to dislodge Ganduje by 2019.

In the leaked audio which had already gone viral today, Prof. Abubakar said he was yearning to “return to Bayero University, Kano at the end of their tenure in 2019.”

He was reportedly axed out of prominence as far as the ruling APC was concerned, including at his ward and local government levels; hence his resolve to dump the plum political job for the academia  at the end of their first tenure with Ganduje.

“When they were campaigning for election, my picture was juxtaposed with the governor (Ganduje), president (Muhammadu Buhari) and our leader Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” the prof. said.

“But today at my birthplace, my picture was replaced with somebody else’s picture. What have I done to my birthplace? I do not deserve this even as a university lecturer at Bayero University, where I hope to return in 2019 at the expiration of my tenure.

“Pray for me to return to the university by May 2019, and this is what I’m fervently asking from Allah. Those who want to continue should go on, but my prayer is to go back to Bayero University.

“I will not be part of a system whereby the leadership of my party, APC, would be formed at my Mandawari ward, my birthplace, and my blood brother was removed without anyone consulting with me.

“I did not bring myself here. I was engrossed in my academic activities when I was picked as the deputy governorship candidate. God that chose me is not sleeping. Whether I am in the university, God knows the best. I pray to him to choose the best for me,” he said.

The state government had this afternoon expressed “shock” over the turn of events.

Speaking through the his Commissioner for Information,  Governor  Ganduje said  he was shocked by  the statement made by his deputy which was aired on radio over the removal of his Mandawari ward party chairman.

The statement reportedly directed the immediate reinstatement of the removed chairman and called on  politicians to always contact party leadership and politicians holding higher offices before embarking on issues of sensitive nature.

Bitcoin suffers dramatic price plunge in Asia
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment

Bitcoin prices plunged about 15 percent in Asian trade Wednesday before recouping some of the losses as investors apparently took fright at news that a South Korean exchange had been hacked.
The unit, which hit a record $19,500 at the start of the week, took a hit as it emerged that South Korean exchange Youbit had been hacked, leading the firm to say it will close and start bankruptcy proceedings, according to Bloomberg News.
Separately, US authorities on Tuesday suspended trading in a popular Bitcoin-related stock, citing concerns about market manipulation.

The Crypto Company’s share price had risen 1,700 percent between the end of September and Monday evening before the Securities Exchange Commission intervened to halt trades until January 4.
“Both the news of South Korea’s exchange having been hacked and position adjustment following recent rallies affected the market today,” Raita Yamaguchi, senior consultant at Nomura Research Institute, told AFP.
However, “the weight of South Korea as a Bitcoin market is not that big,” he added.
Bitcoin dropped to $15,815.78 in early Tokyo trade from $18,000 Tuesday evening, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The crypto currency recovered to around $16,000 in early afternoon trade in Tokyo.
Bitcoin has soared almost 20-fold since the start of the year and this month saw it move into the mainstream as two major US exchanges began trading futures in the unit.

The Minister of Interior, Abdurahman Bello Dambazau while delivering his keynote address at the official commissioning of the trucks in Abuja on Tuesday, commended the Federal Government for the new trucks which according to him, would revive the competence of the Service.

Dambazau noted that since the inception of the fire service in 1901, this is the first time such large number of firefighting equipment has been procured.
“We all know the Federal Fire Service has not been given the much needed attention it deserves for 116 years of its existence particularly when it comes to provision of firefighting equipment.

FG Building New Prison, Planning To Arrest Us In 2018" - Uche Secondus
User Avatar Forum: Politics

The Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, alleged that the Federal Government was building more prisons.

It also said that the government was planning to descend on PDP members in 2018.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, stated these in Abuja at the opening of a two-day retreat for members of the newly elected National Working Committee of the party.

Secondus warned that those building the prisons might be the occupiers, adding that it was wrong for the Federal Government to be persecuting members of the PDP because of their refusal to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He said, “We learnt that they are building more prisons. Let them go ahead and build more. They will be the one to stay there.

“We learnt that they are coming after our members in January. Let them continue. How many people will they put in jail?

“They should stop intimidating people. They should remember that almost everybody they had put in jail wrongly came back to become President.

“This is because they were jailed unjustifiably. So, if they are persecuting us, let them continue. But we will not withdraw the ultimatum we gave them to quit Aso Rock in 2019.”

Secondus stated that it was wrong to assume that the PDP was not ready to fight corruption, stressing that the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo established institutions that he said “are currently waging a war against graft in the country.”

The PDP chairman added that the former President did not spare members of the PDP then, unlike now when he alleged that the ruling party “protects its members.”

“We stabilised the structure to fight corruption. Obasanjo, a PDP President, started the fight against corruption. He fought our members. But unlike now, no matter how corrupt you are, if you don’t want to be arrested, just defect to the APC,” he added.

Speaking when he received members of the Board of Trustees of the party earlier, Secondus called on the Federal Government to stop intimidating members of the party.

He said, “APC should stop intimidating our leaders. We will no longer take it; enough is enough. They don’t need to attack us; they should fulfil what they promised us.

“We handed over freely in 2015 and they should be prepared to hand over to us. No amount of intimidation will distract Nigerians.”

Secondus condemned the alleged harassment of the former President of the Senate, David Mark, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“There is nowhere in the world where a former Senate President has been harassed like this before,” he added.

While receiving former chairmen of the party, led by Ahmadu Ali, Secondus restated that he and members of the NWC would not be intimidated, adding that they would have zero tolerance for corruption and imposition of candidates.

The Chairman of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, explained that at no time did members of the BoT support Senator Ali Modu Sheriff while the latter was leading the party.

Jibrin called on members of the party to unite and support the Governor Seriake Dickson-led reconciliation committee.

The BoT, however, recommended that the new NWC should visit all chairmanship aspirants that lost the bid to emerge as the chairman of the party and their key supporters.

*BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS .*

Wednesday, December 20th .
Pastor Chris

_*Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them (Joshua 1:6).*_

There’s a certain mentality you must have as a Christian; it’s the mentality of a victor; the mindset of courage and strength, where you know that come what may, you’ll always win. It’s a requirement; it’s something that God demands of you. He demanded it of Joshua as he started out in ministry.

Joshua had been with Moses, and observed that Moses was never defeated, for God Almighty was with him. The same God who was with Moses, after Moses’ demise, told Joshua, _*“There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”*_ (Joshua 1:5). What a message! It leaves no room for fear!

If you’re a pastor, for example, and some detractors walk into your place of worship to make trouble, don’t chicken out; take dominion. Notice God’s instruction in Joshua 1:6, _*“Be strong and of a good courage….”*_ It doesn’t matter that the government is colliding with you, trying to resist God’s work, be courageous, for their defence is taken away from them (Numbers 14:9). Greater is He that’s in you, than he that’s in the world (1 John 4:4).

It doesn’t matter how seemingly powerful your adversaries are, “Be strong and of a good courage….” Someone might say, “But we all get discouraged sometimes”; no! Discouragement isn’t for Christians! We’re required to be strong and very courageous—always—not sometimes. How could you be discouraged when you’re one with the Lord? He’s your strength and your joy! He’s your song, your victory and your salvation.

Never find yourself in discouragement. Never wear a sad face, berating yourself for what you might have done wrong or crying over what others might have said or done against you. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). That’s the Word of the Lord concerning you. Read and meditate on Psalm 27:1-3: _*“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?   Nigerian Workers Poorly Paid – Osinbajo
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has admitted that Nigerian workers are poorly paid.

Osinbajo stated this during the State House Press Corps end of the year seminar titled “Journalists and Retirement Plan”.

The event was held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said public sector earnings must be scrutinised, with a view to determining the right wages for workers.

“Generally speaking people are poorly paid, so there is need to look at why people are poorly paid. Public sector earning must be looked at and determined what should be paid and what is right for people to earn,” Osinbajo remarked.

The vice president also added that all employers must be compelled to key into the contributory pension scheme.

PDP Fires At APC: A million of Tinubu can’t save APC from impending political defeat
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-19-2017, 09:47 PM - No Replies

Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday declared that a million of ex-governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot save the ruling APC from imminent defeat it will suffer in the 2019 general elections.

PDP in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, noted that Tinubu and his co-travellers in APC were jittery of imminent defeat they would suffer in the forthcoming general elections.

DAILY POST recalled that Tinubu had on Saturday in Ibadan declared that opposition was dead in Oyo with the defection of some political bigwigs in the state.

The defectors include Ex-Governor of the State, Chief Adebayo Alao Akala, Former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin, Ex-SSG Mr. Ayodele Adigun and House of Representatives member, Hon. Dokun Odebunmi among others.

But, Olatunji while reacting to Tinubu’s outburst noted that it was glaring that Tinubu already knew the fate of his party in the coming elections, noting that that was why he made such statement.

The PDP spokesperson disclosed that the so called defectors had already joined APC long ago, wondering the need “for unnecessary political jamboree at the expense of tax payers money.”

Olatunji, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his low key 75th birthday, as he charged Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state to borrow a leave from him (Buhari) instead of embarking on wasteful spending during his 68th birthday celebration held on the same day (Saturday).

The PDP spokesman while asking the governor to tell people of Oyo State, unpaid workers and striking lecturers in all the six tertiary institutions in the state how much it spent in the political jamboree and his 68th birthday, also described the two events held on the same day as wasteful.

He said “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to a National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at a function to welcome decampees who have joined APC long time ago wherein he expressed his fears indirectly over the continuous rise and dominance of PDP in Oyo State politics and Nigeria at large.

“It is absurd that 90% of the so called decampees have seized to be PDP members more than 2 years ago while the remaining 10% are politicians who makes their living through politics and hence the needs to be in the ruling party at all times because they lack ideologies and principles.

“The PDP in Oyo State actually pity Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unenviable job of selling a rejected Oyo State APC to the electorates whereas the party hierarchy including the National Chairman of APC knew that Oyo State APC is moribund and the yesterday’s official declaration was just a charade to celebrate the birthday of Senator Ajimobi in an elaborate and wasteful manner without taken into consideration the non payment of between 9 to 16 months salaries of Oyo State tertiary institutions.

“It is in fact laughable that the APC which has totally failed in bringing together her old members who worked for her success in 2015 could recourse to panic mode just because the PDP has succeeded in uniting its fronts through the political sagacity of her leader, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

“We were very much aware that Senator Tinubu, Governor Ajimobi and the so called decampees left the venue dejected due to the refusal of the National Chairman, Odigie Oyegun, and other party echelons to grace the occasion.

“It is on record that the only Minister from the State, Barrister Bayo Shittu, Senator Monsurat, Senator Buhari, Hon Dapo Lam Adesina and many other honorables on the platform of APC boycotted the events to the surprise of Senator Tinubu and the self acclaimed Constituted Authority, Senator Ajimobi, failing it has resorted to a failed attempt to give a false hope that APC is still alive in the State when all the indices shows that APC is virtually dead but the undertakers were admitted with funfair last Saturday.

“President Buhari’s low key celebration of his 75th birthday is worthy of emulation, this is a milestone also coming after his recovery. It calls for celebration but the mood of the nation and Oyo State in particular where poverty is at alarming rate calls for sober reflections. What is the significant of 68 to 75.

“The whole page of some National newspapers on Sat 16th of December 2019 were used to congratulate Gov Ajimobi by govt agencies. This is wasteful.

“PDP both at the National and Oyo State has been adjudged as viable, masses friendly, accommodating, transparent, fair and attractive by political stakeholders and lovers of democracy.

“It is disgusting and highly embarrassing that the Governor Ajimobi led APC government that has repeatedly failed to conduct local government elections since 2011 and has flagrantly continued to violate Nigerian constitution is living in a fantasy world that they can still get electorates votes in 2019, it is impossible.

“The good people of Oyo State have come to discover that APC is a fraud, a party of untrustworthy fellows who have failed to keep a single of its numerous promises repeatedly made to Oyo State populace.

“Since the center fail to hold under APC, the PDP has come to the rescue. APC needs to be reminded that the era of falsehood, deceits and scaremongering, which their government is known for has gone, the good people of Oyo State are just anxiously waiting for 2019 to kick them out and that’s a promise.

“A million Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu can’t save Oyo State APC from the impending political tsunami”.

2019: Why Atiku Is Our Preferred Choice - Igbo Youths
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-19-2017, 09:34 PM - No Replies

Some group of youths in the south eastern part of the country have drummed support for the presidential ambition of former Nigeria's vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The group, under the aegis of South Eastern Youth Movement for Atiku Abubakar, described the former vice president as a tested hand which distinguished him during his reign as vice president.

Speaking in Awka after its inaugural meeting, the group's Coordinator, Maxwell Umeaba said the group had resolved to support the former Vice President to realise his presidential ambition with its stronghold in the five states of the South East.

"We have resolved to come together to take our destiny into our hands. We have raised army of voters in all the states in the South East.

"Atiku is a tested hand, whose works during his reign as vice president distinguished him. As a good business man who has overseen several successful businesses, Nigeria would be in safe hands if he is elected," he said.

Describing Atiku's defection to PDP as a welcome development towards reshaping the country, Umeaba stressed that Nigerian youths believe in him and would strongly support him.

He regretted that the present administration under the APC had relegated the youths and denied them of inclusiveness in governance.

President Buhari: I Used To Smoke, Had Girlfriends But Never Tasted Alcohol
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-19-2017, 09:26 PM - Replies (6)

In this concluding part of the interview President Muhammadu Buhari granted Eric osagie, The SunMD/Editor-in-Chief in company of Paulinus Aidoghie in 2012, he explains why he is not super rich despite being former Head of State.

But don’t you think you went too far?

What do you mean by going too far?

But you went to the extreme that public officers could do no wrong, as if they were saints. You called the decree ‘Protection of Public Officers Against False Accusation,’ and clamped down on the media.

Those who did it, the editors, the reporters, we jailed them. But we never closed a whole institution, as others did. We investigated and prosecuted according to the laws, because shutting a newspaper, it is an institution and we lose thousands of jobs. But we found out who made that false report, who was the editor, who okayed it and then, we jailed them.

No regret?

No regret, because we did it according to the laws we made. We neither closed a whole institution and caused job losses.

Then, you left power, 20 months after…

No. I was sent packing from power.

Ok, you didn’t leave on your own volition?

No.

That is a good one. For Nigerians, they remember War Against Indiscipline you brought. What was the philosophy behind it?

Well, I think we realised that the main problem of Nigeria, then and now, was indiscipline and corruption. When I say we, I mean the Supreme Military Council. Those two, are Nigeria’s Achilles heels. And I believe the Nigeria elite knew it then and they know it now. So, we started to discipline them. People must realise their level in the society and accept it. If you go and read hard and get a PhD, certainly you will get the best of life than somebody who hasn’t been to school at all or who has been a drop-out. And then, in the public, people must behave responsibly. If you go to bus stops, it is step-by-step or turn-by-turn, and not to force your way. If you go to bank, you find out if people were there before you. Why can’t you go behind them?

Or you come early and be number one.

Exactly! I think that was accepted. And up till now, I think it is the only thing that survived out of our administration, the queue culture. People accepted it with calmness. And in Lagos, they wouldn’t like to associate themselves with the military, so they call it KAI. That is right. Kick Against Indiscipline. But it is still the same thing. It is the same. The only difference is that one was brought by the military and this one is through democratic system.

When you were eased out of power and you had time to reflect for three years, what did you then see that was wrong?

We gave them the opportunity in the three councils I told you. Those rules are supposed to be in the Nigerian archives, except somebody destroyed them, destroyed the evidence. Otherwise, what did we do wrong to warrant being sacked? For example, when we overthrew the Second Republic, we had what we called the SIP, the Special Investigation Panel that comprised the police, the National Security Organisation (NSO) then and the intelligence community of the military. We did nothing by impulse or ad hoc. We went through the system.

And then, you handed down long jail terms, some 100 years. That was something else. Why did you do that?

They would never see the daylight again to commit another crime against humanity.

Would you say your detention period made you a new person?

I think I have always been the same person. When I came out, I was amazed, amazed in the sense that people in my immediate constituency didn’t seem to bother about the major setback I had. They were still coming to me, expecting me to help them in a way. Not in terms of material help, because they knew that I didn’t operate any money house or any petroleum bloc or any filling station…

How can you say a whole oil minister like you didn’t have any oil licence?

No. Not one, and not any for any blood relation or anybody close to me. Really, somehow, people in my community felt that I can still help them. But with that setback, I was wondering how. So, the only way for me, I think, was to join partisan politics so that I can have a platform to speak about the opinion of my constituency, immediate constituency. But the thing that convinced me more than the pressure from immediate locality was the change in 1991, the collapse of the Soviet Union. I have said this so often that an empire in the 20th century, collapsed and a lot of people ran back home, leaving strategic installations behind, like missile sites, nuclear formation and so on. And now, there are about 18 to 19 or 20 republics. It was then that I believed, personally, in my own assessment, that multi-party democratic system was and is still superior to despotism.

That was your turning point?

That was the turning point. But there is a big caveat: elections must be free and fair! And that is what we need. Elections must be free and fair, otherwise, the whole thing will be something else.

During your tenure, one case kept coming up: the 53 suitcases. You had ordered the border shut and your Aide de Camp (ADC), Major Jokolo, was alleged to have escorted 53 suitcases into the country. What happened? Why were you selective?

There was nothing like 53 suitcases. What happened was that there was my chief of protocol; he is now late. He had three wives, and I think about 12 children. He was in Saudi Arabia as Nigeria Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. He was in Libya before, as ambassador and later, he was posted to Saudi Arabia. And then, I appointed him as my chief of protocol and he was coming back. Three wives, about 12 children. And then, by some coincidence, the late Emir of Gwandu, the father of Jokolo, who was my ADC then, was coming back with the same flight. And somehow, some mischievous fellows, everything, including the handbag of maybe, their small daughters, were counted as suitcases. Atiku then was the Commandant of Murtala Muhammed Airport as customs officer. And that day, we were playing squash. Jokolo my ADC and I. At some point, I said to him, ‘Mustapha, is your father not coming back today again?’ He said, ‘yes, sir, he is coming.’ I said, ‘what are you doing here? Why can’t you go and meet your father?’ He said yes, sir. He went to wash and meet his father. I am telling you there was no 53 bags of suitcases. It was a bloody lie. It was a bloody mischief.

So, not that he was detailed?

No, he was not detailed. He was not even about to go. I was the one who made him to go and meet his father. He was a respected emir, in fact, if not the most respected emir in the North then. He was learned, he had fantastic credibility and personal integrity. And this man was just coming on posting with his wives and children and they counted every imaginable thing, they said 53 suitcases.

Was that why Atiku was retired?

I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t think I retired Atiku. I can’t recall because I had nothing against anybody.

But the argument was that the border was ordered shut. So, how did those people then come in?

They came by air. We didn’t stop aircraft coming in. They came by air, from Jedda to Lagos. They didn’t drive through Chad to Maiduguri and… People just say 53 suitcases when all borders had been ordered shut because that is how you can sell your papers.

Then you came into politics and every election you are there. Would you still do politics at 70 years, elective politics, offering yourself for election?

This is what I told the audience that came to listen to my address before we started the campaign for the 2011 elections. But my party and supporters were sending representatives. Up till today, they haven’t stopped. But what I told them was that we are in the process now of reorganising the party and perhaps, come into an alignment with other parties. Whatever the parties decide, whether my party or the new party that align and we are hoping to develop; if they give me the ticket or recommend me, I will consider it. That is the position we are now.

Until you get to that stage you can give a definite answer?

Until we get to that stage, there is no clear answer now. Let’s wait and see.

Is it that you don’t like money? Anytime somebody sees you, they say General Buhari is so austere. What gave you that kind of lifestyle? Nobody is associating you with millions. My reporter here was pointing to one mansion of a former governor who just ruled for eight years. So, how did you develop this frugal lifestyle? Is it that you don’t like good life? How do you unwind? Well, some of us have heard that you used to smoke. Do you still smoke? What are those things you have given up?

I used to smoke, but of course, I abandoned it I think in 1977.

Oh really? Before you became head of state?

Yes, I stopped smoking.

Have you ever taken alcohol?

No.

Never?

Never.

Even as a young man and all that?

No, no. Even in the military tradition, how they break you in, I said well, the military did not stop anybody practising his religion. My religion said no alcohol and no alcohol. So, that was respected. I was never forced to take alcohol and I have never voluntarily taken it because I want to remain alert all the time. There is a tendency that when you drink, you would want to have a bottle more, or a glass more and do something stupid.

As a young man, very handsome because I saw some of your old pictures, did you have women flocking around you? And women like soldiers, people who have power…

I also thought women ought to have taken more interest in me but I don’t know why they didn’t. I must have something they didn’t like. I assure you of that. I didn’t drink, I smoked, I had girlfriends; it was true.

How many did you have?

I hope you won’t publish this because my wife will read the interview. So, you will be very kind to me if you don’t publish that (general laughter).

You joined the army and there was coup and counter-coup and civil war. You still had time to unwind?

You can create it but we had too much eventful time, professional career. It was too eventful. There were too many things happening almost at the same time. If I could recall, the 30 months civil war that we had, I was just having two weeks after every six months to come back home just to see my old mother and some of my relatives because I refused to get married till after the war.

Was it deliberate?

It was deliberate.

Why? I thought that would have been the reason to get married.

No, no. Some of our colleagues, like late Vatsa, like Babangida, they were more adventurous than myself. They took a weekend and had a quick marriage and went back to the front. I thought I would be putting the poor girl or the poor woman under a lot of stress. So, I said if I survived the war, I would get married, but if I didn’t survive, no woman should cry for me other than my relatives.

Some of your General-colleagues became stupendously rich. Today, they have means. I am not a lawyer taking inventory of your assets or preparing your will, but tell me what property do you have now at 70? I am sure you have a house in Abuja, you have one in Lagos. You have one in Daura and you have one here (Kaduna). So, if I count your property, maybe five. Am I right or wrong?

You are right but am not going to read or declare with you. My assets were on record, I told some of your colleagues when they came. When Murtala/Obasanjo regime came, they made sure that certain grades of public officers must declare their assets when they assumed that office and they must declare when they were leaving. So, when I was sworn in as governor of North East, I declared my assets.

What did you declare?

I declared surprisingly, even the number of my cows then. Even if they were supposed to be producing every year, but I declared them the time I was there. And when I was leaving governorship, I became petroleum minister. When I was leaving to go to War College, I declared my assets. I could recall General Jemibewon then, was the Adjutant-General of the Army. He rang me and said he was sending me asset declaration form, that I must fill it, sign it before I left for the United States. And I did. General Jemibewon is still alive. And when I became head of state eventually, I declared my assets again. So, all of us; when I say that, I mean Obasanjo downwards, those who are alive who were governors, ministers, head of states, they had declared assets. So, if you people are serious and interested about political officers becoming multi-billionaires, you can find out from Murtala downwards. And those of us who were not very good in making money you should pity us.

Is it that you don’t like money?

Everybody likes money but I am not very good at making money. Let me put it that way. I borrowed from the banks to build the house in Daura and the one in Abuja that you mentioned and the one in Kano. The bank then was Barclays, now Union Bank. Kaduna State or North Central then housing scheme and the Federal Mortgage Bank for the house I am in and AIB, which was, I think, terminated by Central Bank. So, when you go through the records, you find out that the houses I built, I borrowed from there.

You are a respected former head of state. What is your relationship with others, Obasanjo, your former boss and at a point, your political opponent, General Babangida, the man who took over from you and then, Shagari…

You are very nice. He took over from me and I took over from Shagari. You are very nice.

I want to be polite.

You are very nice. Ok, carry on.

What is your relationship with them. I see some parts of patching up here and there, but when a man is 70, you say it the way it is. What is your relationship with all these people I have mentioned now, deep down?

I think the worst thing anybody can do to oneself is to have either hatred or grudge on daily basis. One thing will happen and you better forget.

Have you forgiven Babangida now? You once said you felt betrayed over the coup against your government?

I did. Publicly, I did.

You have?

I have and some of your papers published it. I said as a Muslim, I have forgiven him.

But during that period it happened, you must have been really angry?

Of course, I was angry because I can’t recall what I had done for him to mobilise the military to overthrow me and detain me for more than three years. Yeah, it is natural for me to be upset.

Were you going to retire him before your overthrow, as has been alleged? This is an opportunity to lay it because we have heard those speculations that you were going to retire him and he moved against you quickly.

Something like that happened but not him. I moved to retire his Director of Military Intelligence.

Akilu?

General Aliyu, not Akilu.

Aliyu?

Aliyu Gusau.

You were going to retire him?

Yes. I took a paper to Army Council. Babangida was there…

As the Chief of Army Staff?

Yes. Idiagbon was there, Bali was there as Minister of Defence, and I was there as the head of state and commander-in-chief. And reasons for him to be removed was in that memo. Go and find out from him or from Babangida. They are both alive.

Not against Babangida per se?

No.

But if you touched Gusau, his intelligence chief, invariably, you were going to inch towards the Chief of Army Staff, Babangida. Eventually, he might have been touched.

I didn’t know but at that point, it was Aliyu Gusau.

You were inching closer?

Yes, we were inching closer. You could say that.

But you have forgiven him for all that happened.

I have forgiven him. I said it and it was printed by some of your colleagues. But I didn’t say it will be forgotten. It cannot be forgotten. If I say I forget about it, I will be lying. But I have forgiven him, just as I expect Shagari to forgive me as the one who succeeded him.

But Shagari said you detained him and then…

I too, was detained (general laughter).

Ok, whatof Obasanjo? What kind of relationship do you have?

Obasanjo; he mobilized Nigerian voters against me.

But you have forgiven him?

No, I haven’t forgiven him (laughter).

Finally now, finally, finally, finally…

I don’t know when your final will come to a real final.

No, this is the end now. If the end comes, how do you want Nigerians to remember you, if you have the chance to write your epitaph?

I want Nigerians to be fair to me. Like this case of 53, 55 suitcases, like the case of N2.8billion. I want Nigerians to be fair and to be fair, all these documents are in the Nigerian archives. As I said, I didn’t do anything important outside the three organs of government: the Supreme Military Council, Council of States and Council of Ministers. On serious issues, Nigerians should do some research. That is why I always make emphasis on investigative journalism. If you want to be fair and impartial, I am sure you can have the capacity, both intellectual and resource to make an in-depth investigation.

Nigerians should be fair to you?

They should be fair to me.

Your daughter just passed on?

She would have been 40 before she died.

Oh, when life was just beginning.

Yes.

What was the circumstance? Some said she was a sickler; she had sickle cell anemia.

She was a sickler and she had complication when she was delivered by Caesarian.

And that remains a very sad incident for you.

Yes.

Thank you, General.

You are always welcome.

EFCC Is Chasing Shadows, Only God Can Decide 2019 - David Mark

Immediate past President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has described the accusations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he purchased his Apo Residential House illegally as spurious, contrived and baseless.
Senator Mark said today that the EFCC or any other agent of Government are chasing shadows because the property was duly offered for sale, bided for, and he purchased like any other person would in line with Federal Government’s Monetization Policy that was started during the time of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He said “I had the right of first refusal. Even if I did not purchase it, someone else would have.
“I am a law-abiding citizen. I did not flout any law.
“Curiously, four houses occupied by the then Presiding Officers of National Assembly were offered to the occupants. All of us, me as the then President of the Senate, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and his Deputy Bayero Nafada were all given the same offer.
“I am at a loss as to why it is now a subject of contention.
“If this persecution is about politics, my political party and the 2019 elections, I dare say that only God and Nigerians would decide. No amount of persecution would alter the will of God.
“I had refrained from commenting on this because it is already in the law Court. But they have taken the matter to the Court of public opinion.”
Senator Mark through his lawyer Ken Ikonne in the suit NO FHC/ABJ/1037/2017 before the Federal High Court, Abuja had said that he followed due process and legally acquired the property from the FCDA on April 27, 2011.
Senator Mark is also asking the Court for a declaration that an order by the Attorney General of the Federation and one Obono Obla of the Presidential Task Force on Recovery of Government Properties compelling him to vacate the aforesaid property without affording him a fair hearing, amounted to a denial of his fundamental human rights, unconstitutional and void.
He recalled that the Federal Executive Council decided to authorize the sale of the properties housing the principal officers of the National Assembly because the general security of the area had been altered/compromised due to the sale of the other houses in the Legislative Quarters to the public.
Consequent upon which the houses were offered for sale and dully purchased.
Senator Mark was given the first option of refusal upon which he dully accepted on April 21st 2011 and paid the agreed purchase price to the adhoc committee on sale of Federal Government houses on April 27, 2011.

: "$1bn Not For Anti-boko Haram War Alone" - Osinbajo Says

[BREAKING] $1bn not for anti-Boko Haram war alone, Osinbajo says
Published December 19, 2017
Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja
VIce-President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday said the much-criticised $1bn that state governors asked the Federal Government to withdraw from the Excess Crude Account was not meant for the fight against insurgency alone.
He said the sum was meant for all security challenges being experienced in all the states of the federation.
Osinbajo gave the clarification at the opening of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation/Secretaries to State Governments’ retreat at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It will be recalled that the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Abdulaziz Yari, had, at a meeting of the National Economic Council last Wednesday, announced that the governors had asked the Federal Government to withdraw $1bn from the ECA to fight insurgency.
The decision had attracted criticisms from groups and individuals, including the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
But Osinbajo explained that the governors resolved to approve the money for national security after a national security summit organised by the National Executive Council about two months ago.
He said the summit considered various security challenges across the country, including kidnapping, small arms trafficking, terrorist activities of Boko Haram in the North East, clashes between herdsmen and farmers, as well as cattle rustling.
The Vice-President said, “It was on account of the security summit that the governors at the Governors’ Forum subsequently decided that they would vote a certain sum of money, which has become somewhat controversial, the $1bn, to assist the security architecture of the country.
“It was to assist all of the issues in the states, including policing in the states, community policing, all of the different security challenges that we have.
“It was after the security summit that the Governors’ Forum met across party lines –again, I must add — in order to approve and to accept that this is what needed to be done to shore up our security architecture.”
Osinbajo’s explanation was, however, in contrast with the statement made by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, while addressing State House correspondents at the end of the NEC’s meeting.
Obaseki was clear in his presentation that the $1bn was approved for the fight against insurgency.
He had said, “Pleased with the achievements that have been made till date in the fight against insurgency, particularly in the North East, the governors of Nigeria through their chairman announced at the NEC meeting that the governors have given permission to the Federal Government to spend the sum of $1bn on the fight of insurgency.
“This money is supposed to be taken from the Excess Crude Account.
“As you know, the issue of security, particularly with regard to the North East, is a very comprehensive response by federal forces.
“So, we expect that the contribution of the states to these efforts will cover the whole array of activities required to secure the country and counter insurgency.
“We expect that the amount will include but not limited to purchase of equipment, procuring intelligence and logistics and all what is required to ensure that we finally put an end to the scourge of insurgence.”

Recipe for minced meat & cow tail gravy
[Image: my%2Bpics%2BJanuary%2B24%2B036.JPG]
Minced meat and cow tail gravy is really delicious with rice. The main meat here is the cowtail but knowing that cowtail on it's own is almost tasteless, I added minced meat (beef) for enhanced taste. Didn't want to cook nutritious but bland gravy, wanted both taste and nutrition combined in 1 pot. Rice and stew can be tiring sometimes if we do not alternate with gravy.

Nigerians have come to accept and love gravies so much so that at events these days, you hardly see rice and stew without some gravy for those who prefer it. To cook cow tail gravy, it's very important to first of all cook the cow tail soft and seasoned before adding to gravy. I pressure cooked the cow tail soft in just 15 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup minced meat
  • Seasoning cubes to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper (I always use my pepper sauce for cooking)
  • 3 cabbage leaves
  • 1 large egg plant (Garden egg)
  • 3 medium sized carrots
  • A handful of green peas
  • 1/2 cow tail
  • Thickener ( I used knorr gravy powder (Roast meat)

COOKING DIRECTION:

  1. Stir fry onion in oil
  2. Add the minced meat and stir, add salt and seasoning then let it simmer for about 30 seconds or more.
  3. Add chopped vegetables one after the other and keep stirring as you cook. Let vegetables simmer for about a minutes before adding the cow tail and stock. I chopped some carrots and shredded the rest so here is when I added the shredded carrots and green peas..
  4. Add thickener gradually stirring to check that your gravy doesn't get too thick (Baking flour can be used).
  5. Check for taste, let gravy simmer a bit before turning off the heat. Serve with boiled rice.

Gizzard Fried Rice Updated

Diced gizzard in fried rice
[Image: fried%2Brice%2B10.jpg]
A small serving of rice. You can see the gizzard staring at me
[Image: fried%2Brice%2B1.jpg]
Making peppered gizzard
I used just 12 pieces of  well cooked gizzard out of this pepper soup to add to the rice
[Image: fried%2Brice%2B3.jpg]
Colourful ingredients starting from a small plate of green peas, much much onions. If I tell you how much onions we use in my house, you may not believe. Sometimes, a basket lasts for  just two weeks, yes. The benefits of eating onions are too numerous not to overload with it. The longest a basket of onions stays in this house is one month. For fried rice and even tomato stew, onion takes the upper hand
Gizzard fried rice ingredients:

  1. 3 cups basmati rice
  2. 1 table spoon curry
  3. seasoning cubes plus monosodium glutamate (white maggi)
  4. Salt
  5. Beef stock
  6. 1 small plate green peas
  7. 3 medium sized onion
  8. I large red bell pepper (tatashey)
  9. One medium sized green pepper
  10. 4 large carrots
  11. 12 pieces cooked gizzard
[size=undefined]Adding white maggi and other ingredients to beef stock, yes, white maggi. ( Remove ya eye from the oil and water stains on the cooker unless you want to tell me that when you cook your rice, water doesn't splash and dry up on the hot cooker. I didn't want to add this pic at first but the cropped one refused to send, what am I supposed to do? leave it out? na lie o. I'll wipe when the cooker is cold enough for my tender, baby hand). If after cooking your rice meals, it still tastes like something is missing, try adding white maggi. Monosodium glutamate is the medicine for rice dishes. It has a way of giving rice that rich taste  that makes you eat a little too much. I don't add it to soups or stews, just fried rice, coconut rice, jollof  and palm oil rice. When you try it, if I'm lying, leave a comment. Most Nigerians don't like white maggi but they enjoy other seasoning cubes with no knowledge that white maggi is in all of them written as monosodium glutamate when you read the seasoning cube ingredients. Even sugar is in seasoning cubes sef. Read the content of any seasoning cube you love and tell me if ...

Sautee ingredients in oil with more seasoning cubes else you have tasteless fried rice. You can add curry to these if you like, I didn't.
Onion is transluscent, tht means the veggies are ready. I check for salt before adding to cooked rice, that's my lazy man way. You can fry the cooked rice at this point in batches with the veggies and gizzard.

Shredded Chicken Fried Rice Recipe
[Image: rice%2B1.jpg]
Shredded chicken fried rice just served, hot and delicious.
This shredded chicken fried rice is one recipe you cannot ignore. If you have never really tried any recipe on wives connection? Just cook this shredded chicken fried rice this weekend and watch wonders when your family clears the pot of rice and demands for even more to be preserved. I
explained on Instagram how my 8 year old couldn't believe I was going to cook and serve fried rice without chicken. I have no drumsticks at home, saw croaker in the freezer and I just wanted us to enjoy the rice with some fish. When she entered the kitchen, saw the rice cooking and then saw that I was washing fish, she was so surprised and calmly told me that she has never seen anyone eating fried rice with fish. To convince her there is chicken in the fried rice, I had to bring out the little shredded chicken left in the freezer, dice and cook briefly with salt and onion and then she is happy when she sees me adding the shredded chicken to the fried rice vegetables. No more questions. we all loved this, ate so much and she still requested that I refrigerate some for school. They both came home with empty lunch boxes the next day. My chairman ate so much his stomach was still protruding when I went to pick him after school.
INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 Cups basmati rice
  • 1 table spoon curry
  • 1 teaspoon vedan seasoning (white maggi)
  • Salt
  • water
  • 6 Knorr seasoning cubes
  • 5 large carrots
  • 4 large tatashey red bell pepper
  • 2 handfuls shredded chicken
  • I cup green peas
  • 3 Cabbage leaves
  • soya oil
  • 3 large onion bulbs
  • 1 large green pepper
  • Croaker

The shredded chicken cooking with just salt and onion
[Image: rice%2B6.jpg]
Adding the chicken to sauteed vegetables
[Image: rice%2B5.jpg]
Chicken and veggies well mixed
Cooking Proceedure:
First I washed and boiled the rice with curry, salt, vedan and some onion.
For the vegetables, I chopped and diced all the vegetables. Added to oil before turning on the heat. Then I crushed and added the seasoning cubes ( No, not Crushed. I POUNDED THE SEASONING CUBES WITH A MORTAR AND PESTLE BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO HARD TO CRUSH, EVEN HEAT COULD NOT SOFTEN ordinary seasoning cubes). Checked for salt and seasoning taste, let them cook while I stir until onion looks translucent. I add the already cooked shredded and now diced cooked chicken, mixed well before adding in batches to the cooked rice (That's my lazy man method, you can at this time begin to fry your rice together with the vegetables in batches until cooking is done.
I served with my already fried fish. You can serve with any fish or meat of choice.
Enjoy!

Smoked Fish Gravy With Nigerian Rice
[Image: Eya%2BAyambem%2Bpics%2B032.JPG]
Smoked fish gravy is sauce cooked like any other gravy we have on this blog. Cooked with vegetables, seasoning and a thickener which could be baking flour.

Cooking gravy is very easy as all it needs is stir fry the vegetables, add stock or water, season to taste and thicken to desired consistency. Gravy is cheaper (less expensive) to cook compared to Nigerian tomato stew. Gravy is nutritious and can make you eat so much rice because of the taste. Can be cooked with meat, chicken, fish etc. Scroll down to see more gravy recipes on the blog.

INGREDIENTS FOR SMOKED FISH GRAVY:

I used...

  • 6 cups stock but added some more water later to reduce the thickness
  • 4 large carrots
  • 3 medium sized onion
  • 1 large cabbage
  • 4 red bell peppers (tatashey)
  • 2 smoked fish (Titus/mackerel)... deboned
  • 2 packs knorr roast meat gravy
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • Grand soya oil
  • 1 tablespoon pepper sauce
  • 2 knorr cubes

COOKING DIRECTION:

  1. Chop and dice all vegetables and put away.
  2. Wash and debone the smoked fish
  3. Heat oil a little
  4. Stir fry the vegetables with seasoning cubes for about 1 minute or more if you want them a bit soft. I like crunchy veggies.
  5. Add the stock or water or both.
  6. Add pepper sauce and stir, check for taste of salt and seasoning
  7. Thicken. I used knorr gravy and added flour when not satisfied with thickness.
  8. Add smoked fish last so it doesn't crumble during stirring. Check taste and thickness.
  9. Serve with rice.

How to cook spaghetti with minced meat and vegetables
[Image: Eya%2Bpics%2BMarch%2B19%2B007.JPG]
A serving of spaghetti cooked with minced meat and vegetables.

Spaghetti can be boiled and served with sauces and stews, served with just cheese, beef gravy cooked jollof or even fried like fried rice. This delicious pot was cooked with minced meat, vegetables and that Nigerian thing added by the little uziza sprinkle.
Cooked in less than 20 minutes. To truly enjoy spags, cook them al-dente. Not too soft.

INGREDIENTS:
11/2 pack spaghetti
Minced meat (I used 1k worth, that's large pack)
3 large Tatashey (Red bell peppers)
3 small tomatoes blended together with the tatashey and some onion

1 teaspoon pepper sauce
1 large sized onion
1 seasoning cube
1/2 cup soya oil
2 cabbage leaves
2 medium sized carrots
a pinch of thyme
pinch of Rosemary.
1/2 teaspoon curry
1/2 teaspoon jollof spice
Salt to taste
I gave it that Nigerian flavour with a sprinkle of chopped uziza leaves
Water to cover the spags, you may need to add more incase pot dries before food is ready.

Before you cook this abosolutely delicious meal, first blend the tatashey, tomatoes and half that onion, boil them till dry and set aside. Wash and chop vegetables and set aside.

DIRECTION:

  1. Stir fry the minced meat with some salt and onion until the pink disappears. Do not use all the onion now, leave some for later. Check for salt.

  2. Add the mixture of tomato, tatashey and pepper, stir, check for salt and let it simmer for about 2 minutes.

  3. Add the spags to simmering minced meat and pour in boiling water to cover the spaghetti. Stir, add seasoning, all the spices and check again for taste. Cover the pot and leave to simmer for about 10 minutes while you check occasionally and add water if pot is drying up.

  4. After 10 minutes, check for doneness, add the carrots and cabbage with the remaining onion. Stir, check for salt again. Sprinkle your  little handful of uziza and turn off the heat.
See step by step picture recipe below...

Sex Starved Evangelist Impregnates Church Member
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Gimbiya - 12-19-2017, 05:19 PM - No Replies

The four-year old relationship between a church evangelist, Nchedo and his wife, Ogoo has crashed after Nchedo lured and impregnated a 15-year old church chorister because he was starved of sex.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the couple vowed after their introduction never to have sex unless they concluded all the tradition marriage rites and church wedding before they will live together and have sex.

However, it was learnt that Nchedo got bored for those years, lost emotional control, lured the victim into sex and she became pregnant. When she was asked who was responsible, she mentioned Nchedo to the surprise of fellow church members who knew him for being strong in the faith.

The incident happened at Abaranje, Customs bus stop in Ikotun area of Lagos where Nchedo resided and where he lured the victim. But his wife, Ogoo was still living at Ijegun area of Lagos waiting to move into her husband’s home.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the couple used to attend the same church located at Agege area of Lagos where they met.

They had agreed to get married with the consent of their pastor and had travelled down to their home town Ihiala in Anambra State for introduction and certain rites. They came back to Lagos thereafter but still remained apart as they had vowed.

However, Nchedo had challenges in his business and they were unable to conclude the other part of the marriage including the wedding. It was gathered that the wife had sought to renounce the vow so that she will move into her husband’s home but the man refused claiming that it will be a scandal in the church.

P.M.EXPRESS learnt that when Nchedo was mentioned as the one who got the chorister pregnant, it became a problem because of his position in the church.

The pastor then summoned the elders to a meeting in order to manage the crisis. At the meeting, Nchedo admitted and promised to marry chorister to cover the shame.

The elders asked him what will be the fate of his wife and he replied that he may as well marry the two of them in the interest of peace. However, Nchedo lost both the wife and the girl following the decision taken by the wife and the girl’s parents.

It was gathered that the wife opted out of the marriage and asked him to move on and marry the girl he had already impregnated.

The parents of the victim rejected the marriage offer claiming that it will ruin the victim’s education and the victim cannot afford be a mother at that age.

P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the wife had already gotten a suitor and the traditional wedding will be taking place on 9 January, 2018 in Anambra State.

Ministers, Governors Should Undergo Drug Test, Says Sanusi
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Muhammad Sanusi II, emir of Kano, says all public officers and traditional rulers should be compelled by law to undergo drug test.

Speaking in Kano at the senate roundtable on drug abuse, on Monday, Sanusi said it was hypocritical of leaders to campaign against drug use but allow their “bodyguards and thugs” use it inconsequentially.

He said the call was necessary to ensure that anybody found wanting should not be allowed to hold political office and traditional leadership positions.

“I suggest that ministers, governors and traditional rulers should go for drug test because when youths understand that they cannot be governors, ministers or senators if they are drug addicts, they will be into their senses,” Sanusi said.

“I am ready to submit myself for the drug test.
“The country is facing a great danger because the fight against drug abuse has to be taken seriously if we are to succeed.

“We are deceiving ourselves if we don’t believe that we are part of the problem.

“Today, it is better to be a drug baron on the payroll of a political leader than to be a legally recognised security man, which means we must clean our acts before trying to achieve anything.”

The traditional ruler also called for the establishment of modern rehabilitation centres for victims of drug abuse in the six geo-political zones of the country.

He said when established, the centres should be equipped with necessary facilities and personnel to enable them take care of the teeming numbers of victims of the drug abuse.

He said the measure was necessary in order to ensure that those addicts were rehabilitated and trained in various skills to enable them be reintegrated into the society.

The monarch called for adequate funding of the centres to enable them operate effectively and serve the purpose for which they are established.

Chaos At Lagos Airport As FAAN Uses Baggage Claim Carousel For Cargo
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation

Our correspondent learned that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was responsible for converting the baggage claim carousels to cargo carousels.

The baggage claim area of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos was in chaos on Monday morning, as passengers could not receive their checked-in luggage.
A SaharaReporters correspondent at the airport observed that Qatar Airways passengers who landed in Lagos at 10:15 a.m. could not retrieve their luggage, as the carousels designed for passengers' baggage claim had been converted to cargo carousels.
Our correspondent learned that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was responsible for converting the baggage claim carousels to cargo carousels.
The cabin crew were also affected by the change, as our correspondent noted that it took 45 minutes for the crew members to retrieve their luggage. Cabin crew normally retrieve their luggage almost immediately upon landing.
Our correspondent saw passengers, many of whom were elderly people and children, sitting on the floor of the airport waiting for their luggage.
Speaking to SaharaReporters, one passenger, Mrs. Adegoke, expressed frustration at the situation.
“We are perplexed with the situation of things at this airport. We have been here for over three hours and yet we are still not sure of when our luggage will arrive,” she said.
“FAAN is giving priority to cargo luggage, rather than the light luggage the carousels were meant for. That is why these carousels break down early. FAAN has a hajj and cargo terminal, but decided to divert the cargo to this place, thereby causing untold hardship on us.”
At the time of publication, passengers were still awaiting the arrival of their luggage.

Lee Min Ho News: MYM Entertainment Addresses Rumors About Actor's Enlistment; 'City Hunter' Star to Marry Suzy Bae in 2019?
[Image: lee-min-ho-in-legend-of-the-blue-sea.jpg]
Hallyu star Lee Min Ho's management agency, MYM Entertainment, recently denied rumors that their talent would receive special treatment inside the army and cut short his two-year military service. The "City Hunter" star officially kicked off his service on May 12.
According to Korea Herald, the agency said: "That's impossible. (Lee) is to follow the instructions of an official from the Military Manpower Administration and be informed of his work site. It's impossible that he can get away early on the first day."
On the first day of his service, the South Korean star was spotted on his way to the Gangnam-gu Office in Seoul, where he will get his initial training at a military camp in his first month prior to his formal work as a member of the army.
The Military Manpower Administration assigned the actor to public service following his physical examination, which means that he will do mostly administrative tasks throughout his enlistment. This is reportedly because of the two major car accidents he was involved with in 2006 and 2011, where he was severely injured. One of the accidents he got into happened while he was filming "City Hunter."
Lee Min Ho should have entered the military years ago but his busy schedule as an actor prevented him from doing so. Before his enlistment, the actor expressed his feelings about his impending military service and said he did not regret entering the military later than he was supposed to. According to him, he could have missed a lot of opportunities had he entered the military in his younger days.
Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that Lee Min Ho and his girlfriend, Suzy Bae, are going to tie the knot after the actor's discharge from the army in 2019. Although this is good news for their fans, neither of the two has confirmed the news so fans should take such reports with a grain of salt.

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DECEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*ABSOLUTELY VICTORIOUS IN CHRIST .*

Tuesday, December 19th .
Pastor Chris

_*But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57).*_

The scriptures are replete with information that let us know that God has given us an absolutely victorious life. 1 John 5:4 says, _*“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”*_ 2 Corinthians 2:14 emphasizes the great, notable and consistent victories we have in Christ: _*“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”*_

Refuse to accept anything short of a life of glory and success in Christ Jesus, for that’s your heritage as a child of God. Jesus died for you, and it wasn’t for nothing. To keep cringing, bawling, wailing, crying or begging through life, after His death, and triumphant resurrection on your behalf, is to make the cross of Christ of none effect.

Jesus shed His blood for you; and since He’s already done it, all you need do is enjoy the triumphant life. This is the grace of God. When He hung on the cross, God saw you hanging on that cross; you died in Him, and rose up triumphantly from the grave with Him. Therefore, you have legal rights to righteousness, divine health, a sound and excellent mind, and an extraordinary life, because of what Christ has done for you.

2 Peter 1:3 says, _*“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”*_ The life He’s given us is one of glory and excellence, far removed from the sufferings and reproaches of this world. Why should anyone know this and live as a victim in life? Refuse to be poor or ordinary.

The world may be facing economic hardship, but we live the higher life. Job 22:29 says, _*“When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up….”*_ There’s lifting power in you; power to rise over and above the crises of life. That power is Christ in you! Through Him, and in Him, we’ve been made eternally victorious.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m eternally victorious in Christ. I have power over crises; I’m prospering exceedingly, manifesting the righteousness and dominion of Christ everywhere. I live above, and far beyond the distracting elements of this world, because I live in Christ! Blessed be God!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 John 5:4* For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. *||*

*||* *1 John 4:4* Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. *||*

*||* *Colossians 1:26-27* [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: *||*

I affirm that the Spirit of God has made me an administrator of divine verities. Wealth and riches are in my house because I and the Father are One. I am in the Father and the Father is in me; therefore, poverty, lack, sickness, and disease are far removed from where I live. Hallelujah! The Father has made me the first and the best of everything He created. I am the perfection of His beauty, fashioned for excellence. I’ve been called into: a life of dominion, authority, and blessings; a life of control over the world, the forces of nature and the elements of this world. Daily, I effectively reign over the circumstances of my life, to the glory and praise of God's Name. Hallelujah. Everywhere I go, I manifest God's glorious and majestic splendor; I display His perfections and unveil His multifaceted wisdom to the world. God's Word is effectual in me, producing excellence and glory. 6 Reported Killed, 77 Injured In 'Massive' Amtrak Derailment Onto I-5 Near Seattle
[Image: AMTRAK%2BTRAIN.jpg]
An Amtrak passenger train derailed this morning on its inaugural trip on a new service route near Dupont, Washington killing several people and causing injuries to an even greater number.
The train was going south to Portland, Oregon when it derailed while crossing a bridge over Interstate 5 near DuPont, Washington around 7:40 a.m on Monday and spilled some of its cars onto the highway below, killing at least six people, authorities said.
The death toll is expected to rise. Seventy-eight passengers and five crew members were aboard when the train moving at more than 80 mph derailed about 40 miles south of Seattle on a route that had raised safety concerns.

The deaths "are all contained to the train," said Ed Troyer, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office spokesman. "It's pretty horrific."
Troyer said several vehicles on Interstate 5 were struck by falling train cars and multiple motorists were injured, but none killed. Police have not given an official death count, but the Seattle Times says it's at least six.
Seventy seven were hospitalized.  An official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that preliminary signs indicate that Train 501 may have struck something before going off the track.
The official was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.  Family of victims were asked to report to the DuPont City Hall to be reunited with their loved ones. They were told not to come to the scene.

Search JAMB Accredits 72 Centres In Lagos
[Image: jamb.jpg]
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has accredited 72 centres in Lagos State for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The State Coordinator, Mr. Sunday Aladegbaye, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Lagos that 63 centres were accredited for the examination this year.

He said the increase indicated that more candidates were likely to participate in 2018 Computer Based UTME.

“Preparations are in top gear for the examination in the state.

“We have accredited 72 centres that have met our requirements for the conduct of the mock and the main examination in 2018.

“But this figure can increase,’’ Aladegbaye said.

He warned mischief makers to desist from setting up strange centres for registration to defraud innocent Nigerians.

“Experience has shown that some group of persons will create a strange website in the name of JAMB and be registering candidates to defraud them.

“This is misleading just as it is criminal.

“We also wish to reach out to candidates to go to only approved centres for their registration.

“We (JAMB) will not be accountable for anything that happens to them.’’

The JAMB official said the board would prosecute any person or group of persons caught operating any illegal or unaccredited registration centre for its examinations.

He said the board was prosecuting a fraudster in court for allegedly registering candidates for the 2017 UTME.

“He operated the centre at a place very close to our Lagos office on Ojora Way in Lagos.

“When he was caught, he did not show any remorse.

“We will continue with the case until justice is achieved, to act as a deterrent to others.

“We are a credible organisation and feel strongly that things should be done the right way and with due process.

“It is only logical that any person or persons willing to do business with JAMB should go through the right channel in order not to cause Nigerians pains,’’ Aladegbaye said.

US Vetoes UN Resolution Rejecting Trump's Jerusalem Decision

US Vetoes UN Resolution Rejecting Trump's Jerusalem Decision
[Image: AFP.jpg]
The United States on Monday vetoed a draft UN resolution rejecting President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, after all 14 other Security Council members backed the measure.

The veto cast by US Ambassador Nikki Haley highlighted Washington's isolation over Trump's announcement that the US embassy will be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, effectively ignoring Palestinian claims on the city.

Soon after the clash at the top UN body, the White House announced that US Vice President Mike Pence was delaying a trip to the Middle East planned for this week.

Trump's December 6 decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital broke with international consensus, triggering protests across the Muslim world and drawing strong condemnation.

Key US allies Britain, France, Italy, Japan and Ukraine were among the 14 countries in the 15-member council that voted in favor of the measure put forward by Egypt.

The draft resolution reaffirmed that Jerusalem is an issue "to be resolved through negotiations" and that any decisions on the status of Jerusalem "have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded."

"The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy," Haley told the council after the veto.

"What we witnessed here today in the Security Council is an insult. It won't be forgotten," she said, describing the measure as "one more example of the United Nations doing more harm than good in addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

To win the 14 votes, the text was watered down with no condemnation and no specific mention of Trump's move. Instead, it expressed "deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem."

Resolutions presented to the council require nine votes for adoption, but the United States -- along with Britain, China, France and Russia -- have the power to veto any measure.

- Pence visit scrapped -

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately thanked Haley, posting on Twitter: "Truth defeated lies. Thank you, President Trump. Thank you, Nikki Haley."

The Palestinians slammed the veto as "unacceptable" and vowed to turn to the UN General Assembly to win adoption for the resolution that was blocked at the council. No country has veto powers in the 193-nation assembly.

Pence's trip to Egypt and Israel was pushed back to mid-January to allow the US vice president to remain in Washington during a vote on Trump's tax bill, a White House official said.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas had already scrapped a meeting with Pence and his Fatah faction had called for mass protests during the visit which had been initially been scheduled for Wednesday.

Israel seized control of the eastern part of the city in the 1967 Middle East war and sees all of Jerusalem as its undivided capital. The Palestinians view the east as the capital of their future state.

The draft resolution had included a call on all countries to refrain from opening embassies in Jerusalem, reflecting concerns that other governments could follow the US lead.

- Going back a 'century' -

Washington's closest allies, France and Britain, came out ahead of the vote to declare their backing for the measure, which they stressed was in line with positions enshrined in UN resolutions adopted over several decades.

Several UN resolutions call on Israel to withdraw from territory seized during the 1967 war.

The status of the city must be decided through negotiations and "not by the unilateral decision of a third country that would bring us back a century," said French Ambassador Francois Delattre.

The US veto came nearly a year after the previous US administration abstained in a council vote condemning Israeli settlements, allowing that measure to pass.

Haley, who used her veto power for the first time as US ambassador, stressed that the United States still supports a two-state solution "if that's what the parties agree to."

The Palestinian envoy led a group of Arab ambassadors in a meeting with Miroslav Lajcak, the president of the General Assembly, to schedule a vote on the draft resolution, probably on Thursday.

Resolutions by the General Assembly are non-binding, but a strong vote in support of the resolution would carry political weight.

  $2.8bn pipeline contract’ll change Nigeria’s energy landscape – Presidency
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 12-18-2017, 04:57 PM - No Replies

Olalekan Adetayo , Abuja
The Presidency on Sunday said the nation ’s energy landscape was set for a major change with the award of a $ 2 , 809 ,522 , 548 .36 gas pipeline contract approved by the Federal Executive Council as proposed by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources .
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity , Garba Shehu , disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja .
Shehu quoted the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources , Dr . Ibe Kachikwu , as informing the FEC that the project was for the construction of a 40 - inch pipeline across 614 kilometres from Ajaokuta to Abuja, Kaduna and Kano .
“This should mark an important landmark in the implementation of the first phase of the Nigerian Gas Master Plan approved in 2018 ,” Shehu said.
The presidential spokesman added that the second contract approved under what he called “massive, blockbuster investment” was for the engineering , verification, procurement and construction of a 40 - inch 30 kilometres Odidi to Warri gas pipeline expansion project.
This, he explained , was meant to transport additional gas from upstream producers to various demand points at the costs of N 7 . 7 bn and $ 56 m .
He added, “The projects, which can rightly be termed as being among the President ’s pet projects, is owed , in part, to his vision and momentum back in his days as the Federal Commissioner for Petroleum Resources.
“That time , Colonel Buhari led think tanks to plan the country ’s gas future and initiated the contracts for the laying of a massive network of petroleum pipelines , linking the length and breadth of the country, and laid the foundation for the construction of three refineries, Warri , the second Port Harcourt refinery and the one in Kaduna , in a bold move to augment the supply and distribution of petroleum products in the country .
“That was the golden period of the country’ s petroleum industry when domestic refining not only met the requirements of home consumption , but also produced excess 150 ,000 barrels of refined products for export.
“The bold step taken by the President on Wednesday seeks the integration of the eastern and northern parts of Nigeria , which had suffered past neglect , into the gas economy .”
Shehu added, “Gas pipeline infrastructure had been concentrated in the coastal areas and the North and the East had been left largely untouched by the industrial revolution that has come with the gas pipeline network.
“It is, therefore, not surprising that the western part of the country is having more economic activity. ”
Shehu said the ruling All Progressives Congress , which campaigned on the issue of inclusive growth , was of the view that the achievement of a balanced and equitable national development could only come with a balanced growth of the states and the regions .
The party manifesto, he added, had identified the development of natural gas transportation infrastructure as a key project in that regard .
He stated , “These contracts for pipelines and LNG terminals to be set up at various points will, therefore, expand opportunities for balanced national development to counter the backwardness and geographical disadvantages of the North and the East.
“In line with the country ’s rapid growth in energy demand , the connection of the South and the North should serve as a boost to the nation ’s energy security .
“The increased energy transportation networks will be a shot in the arm for the struggling manufacturing industry, which suffers from the acute crisis in the energy sector . It will cater to the needs of cement and fertiliser plants; power plants, transportation systems; and even household consumers , thereby increasing gas share in the country ’s energy consumption mix .” http://punchng.com/2-8bn-pipeline-contra...residency/

Thousands of people protested outside President Alexander Van der Bellen’s office against the coalition especially the far right views of the Freedom Party.

The two parties have pledged to tighten the country’s asylum and immigration regulations while maintaining a firm commitment to the European Union.

The Freedom Party has been given five ministries with opponents expressing concern that the Freedom Party has control of the Interior, Defence and Foreign ministries. Its leader, Heinz-Christian Strache, is now vice chancellor.

Mr. Kurz’s People’s Party has seven ministers and one deputy, with responsibilities including the Finance, Economy and Justice ministries.

2019: Segun Osoba Doubts Apc’s Victory In Presidential Election
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:A former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, has expressed doubt over chances of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), winning the upcoming 2019 Presidential Election.

He said that  noted that if APC fails to do its homework, many of its leaders will join former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Meanwhile he also said that South West leaders of the APC need to sit with President Buhari and renegotiate their alliance.

He said, I have told you that I am holding a delicate and important position within the APC in the South West. I have access at every level to express my views at the age of 78.

I will be honest with you. The health challenges that our president faced, was a serious challenge to the party itself, that created some problem for us.

I am happy that the president himself is back and immediately called a major national caucus meeting on October 30, followed by NEC meeting and we took certain decisions there. I hope those decisions will be implemented.

I don't want to talk publicly about it. I still believe in what I said there that we need serious rethinking. Take for example, party membership, with the situation in PDP now, we need to open our doors and really do serious recruitment of members at the grassroots.

Wink Again, Kogi Pensioners Protest Non-payment Of 22 Months Allowances

AGAIN, KOGI PENSIONERS PROTEST NON-PAYMENT OF 22 MONTHS ALLOWANCES

BY AMUDA DAN SULAIMAN FAB

For the third time this year, pensioners in Kogi State, yesterday, took to the streets of Lokoja, the state capital to protest the non-payment of their pension arrears and entitlements for 22 months by the state government.

The protest by the pensioners is coming on the heels of a challenge by Senator Dino Melaye, that Governor Yahaya Bello should explain to the people what he did with the Paris Club refund to the state, since he has failed to pay pensioners their entitlements.

Melaye, in a chat with this reporter, while reacting to the plight of the pensioners who took to the streets after exhausting a seven-day ultimatum given to Governor Bello to redeem his promise of paying them, said: “All I can say is that holding public office is not just an end, it is a means to an end. People must be accountable for their actions. It is true that the Federal Government released the Paris Fund refund to Kogi State and some other states.

“It is also true that till date, the governor has refused to pay pensioners, using the first tranche of that release by the Federal Government. Kogi State has since received other allocations but has not attended to the needs of our pensioners.

“I want to challenge Yahaya Bello to explain to Kogi people what he has used the Paris fund to do and he should commence the process of paying pensioners without further delay.”

The senior citizens who occupied the sub treasury office, lamented that after serving the state meritoriously, it was disheartening that the Kogi State Government had decided to abandon them at this time of their lives.

The retirees who were led by its state chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Manma, decried the inability of the state government to pay their pension and gratuities, despite the bailout funds made available by the Federal Government, stressing that the unwillingness of the state government to account for the bailout funds leaves much to be desired.

They expressed deep regret over the non-payment of their entitlements, a situation they said has caused them untold hardship, pains and therefore, called on Governor Bello to do the needful by paying their pension allowances to enable them address their various needs.

They also called for the immediate regularization of the payment of the monthly pensions to the local government council pensioners as against the current practice which leaves much to be desired.

PENGASSAN Insists On Nationwide Strike Monday
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Quote:The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria on Saturday insisted that its planned industrial action will commence on Monday.

The group however, noted that it was ready to discuss with the government and other concerned organisations on the strike.

According to PENGASSAN, nothing has changed since it issued a statement to announce that its meeting with the Federal Government to avert the strike ended in a stalemate.

This is coming as the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Ndu Ughamadu, told our correspondent that the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru, has been meeting with the unions in the oil sector to ensure stability in the industry.

Ughamadu was optimistic that the NNPC would be able to persuade the association to rescind its decision to embark on strike by Monday, as the planned industrial action had led to panic buying in Abuja.

He said long queues of motorists had been noticed at the few filling stations that dispensed petrol on Saturday.

PENGASSAN on Friday announced that it would embark on an indefinite strike on Monday, following a stalemate in the peace meeting which the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, brokered between the union and Neconde Energy Limited.

The oil union and Neconde had been embroiled in crisis over allegation of anti-worker practices.

The union alleged that the management of Neconde wrongly terminated the employment of some of its workers, and threatened to go on strike if the sacked workers were not recalled within 72 hours.

The issue made the government to initiate a meeting between the two parties in Abuja last week, but the meeting ended in a deadlock.

When asked if the union would halt the strike should the government meet with its officials on the matter, the Public Relations Officer, PENGASSAN, Fortune Obi replied, “One thing you should know is that at PENGASSAN, we are a body of professionals and we are open to discussion at all times because we believe in dialogue. We keep our doors open for effective discussions and that has been our style.”

Meanwhile, many motorists queued for petrol on Saturday, as some users of the commodity said they were stockpiling fuel in order to have enough should PENGASSAN embark on strike on Monday.

$1 Billion: 'Excess Crude account is Illegal' - House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila
User Avatar Forum: Politics

House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila has reacted to the recent $1 billion withdrawal from the Excess Crude Account(ECA). The House of representatives member wrote on social media;

"It is important that the legality of the withdrawal of $1b from the Excess Crude Account is properly understood.

1. The ECA I have always maintained is an illegal account and I instituted a court action against it during then Jonathan administration.

2. Unfortunately, until a final decision has been made by the courts the account is still operative.

3. There is a clear misunderstanding of the powers of the National Assembly over public funds and its limitations.

4. The National Assembly only has power of appropriation over monies belonging to the federal government.

5. The ECA does not belong to the federal government but to the 3 tiers of government.

6. The National Assembly cannot query how the states decide to spend their money. The only institution that can query this is the state assembly.

7. Where the Governors have decided to “donate” some of their funds from the ECA to fight Boko Haram, their state assemblies can kick against it that such was not appropriated by them. I do agree that due process wasn’t followed by The Governors as they should have sought approval of their states before the donation.

It is however not for the NASS to complain on behalf of the State Assemblies. This is part of the principle of separation of powers in a constitutional democracy. The National Assembly can only discuss the portion of the federal government money spent if any.

On whether Gov Fayose or any other Gov has a right to kick I believe he does. No matter how inappropriate if he does not accede to the request or deduction from his state's portion there is no amount of consensus that can bind him as postulated by the Chairman of the Governors forum because such portion belongs to his state and not to the Governors forum. So he may be entitled to a refund.

This is my position on this legality of the withdrawal of $1b from the ECA.
