Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading carriers, is to connect Freetown in Sierra Leone, Banjul in The Gambia and Dakar in Senegal from Lagos with effect from Friday, December 15.
The Corporate Communications manager of the airline, Mr. Chris Iwarah, said the new routes would constitute the second phase of the airline’s expansion drive on the West Coast of Africa and bring its route network to a total of 14 destinations.

It would be recalled that the airline did its first scheduled regional flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos into Kotoka International Airport, Accra-Ghana on February 16.
Iwarah explained that the airline planned to operate flights to five other regional routes as well as six international destinations comprising Dubai, London, Guangzhou-China, Houston, Mumbai and South Africa soon.
He said the new flight to Freetown, Banjul and Dakar would be serviced by its Boeing 737 aircraft to guarantee the comfort of its passengers.
The flights, he added, would be four times a week - Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays - at 7am (local time).

The first all Women Flight in Africa is expected in Nigeria on Saturday. The flight would be operated by Ethiopian Airlines.
According to the airline group, women would fill every role on the flight; from the pilots and cabin crew to in flight ramp operations as well as flight dispatchers on ground.

This will also be the first time ET will be operating an all women flight in Africa.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the airline said the flight departs Addis Ababa, the airline’s operational hub, on the 16th to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The pilot of the flight, Captain Amsale Gualu, had operated similar flight to other regions in the past.
The all-female crew which also has Tigist Kibret as First Officer, will be flying the Boeing 777.
In a country where few women have dared to enter the highly male-dominated profession of piloting, Captain Gualu, in 2010 became the first Ethiopian female captain by flying an Ethiopian Airlines Bombardier from Addis Ababa to Gondar.

197 passengers make Med-View Airline’s inaugural flight to Dubai

197 passengers make Med-View Airline’s inaugural flight to Dubai
— 13th December 2017
By Louis Ibah
The Nigerian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mr. Mohammed Remi, is seeking the participation of more Nigerian airlines in the air lifting of cargo and passengers on the Nigeria – United Arab Emirate’s route
Remi, who spoke during a reception organised at the weekend to welcome Medview Airline’s inaugural flight to Dubai, lamented the huge losses to the nation’s economy of the monopoly enjoyed over the years by Emirates and Etihad on that route, saying that the Bilateral Air Service Agreements (BASA) signed by the two countries allowed for carriers from both countries to operate from Lagos and Abuja into Dubai and Abu Dhabi. His advice came at the weekend, as 197 passengers flew on the Medview Airline’s Lagos – Abuja – Dubai inaugural flight which was operated using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Remi described the patronage as a feat considering that  it amounted to an over 80 percent passenger capacity on the aircraft. But he regretted that the essence of the BASA which targeted the growth and prosperity of Nigerian carriers, with job creation to local pilots, cabin crew, travel and tour agents and the economy appear not to have been realised as those route were left to the two UAE carriers to operate as monopoly. He, therefore, welcomed the entry of Medview into the Dubai route and expressed the optimism that another carrier will fly into Abu Dhabi.   Medview Airline CEO, Mr. Muneer Bankole in his speech decried the lack of cooperation from the Federal Government for local airlines wishing to make a foray into international routes. Bankole said the management of the airline went through very difficult situations and bottlenecks created by the UAE government to frustrate their entry, but that they were able to surmount those challenges the hard way as the Nigerian Government failed to give the carrier the needed support. “Dubai is the new world, this is where everyone is coming to. But we don’t have the backing of the government like Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, or British Airways. We  passed through a lot of hurdles, but we thank God that we were able to make it. We have brought a Nigerian product to Dubai and we urge Nigerians to patronise the airline operations on this route,” Bankole said.
On-board the inaugural flight were the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Jumai Al Hassan; the Managing Director of Med-View Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole; Super Eagles striker, Odion Igalo; the representatives of the Minister of State for Aviation; representative of the Oba of Lagos, top officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and some aviation journalists.

Senate President Bukola Saraki

Ade Adesomoju, Leke Baiyewu and Success Nwogu
The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, on Tuesday, nullified the acquittal ruling of the Code of Conduct Tribunal handed down in favour of Senate President Bukola Saraki on false declaration of assets, in June this year.
Delivering a unanimous judgment in the appeal filed by the Federal Government against the Senate President’s acquittal, the three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, headed by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson, dismissed 15 out of the 18 counts filed before the CCT.

The Court of Appeal held that the prosecution failed to lead sufficient evidence in support of the 15 grounds.
Meanwhile, Saraki has indicated his readiness to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the validity of the three counts upheld by the Court of Appeal against him.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sani Onogu, quoted Saraki’s counsel, Mr. Paul Usoro (SAN), as saying the judgment would be studied and that the apex court would be invited to adjudicate on the three charges with a view to getting them nullified.
But the court ruled that Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara State, had a case to answer with respect to three of the counts numbered 4, 5 and 6.
Justice Akomolafe-Wilson, who prepared and read the lead ruling, held that there was “ample” evidence, led by the prosecution, to warrant the Senate President to open his defence in respect of the three counts.
With the Tuesday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal, Saraki will now return to the CCT to open his defence in respect of the three counts.
“It is ordered that this case be remitted to the Code of Conduct Tribunal for the respondent (Saraki) to enter his defence,” the Court of Appeal ruled.
In Count 4,  which was sustained by the Court of Appeal, Saraki was accused of making false asset declaration at the end of his tenure as the governor of Kwara State in 2011 and on assumption of office as a Senator in 2011 in respect of a property at 17A McDonald, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The prosecution contended that the defendant falsely declared to have acquired the Ikoyi property on September 6, 2006, from the proceeds of sale of rice and sugar.
In Count 5, the prosecution accused Saraki of making false asset declaration at the end of his tenure as the governor of Kwara State in 2011 and on assumption of office as a Senator in 2011, when he declared that he acquired the property at 17B McDonald, Ikoyi Lagos, on September 6, 2006 from the proceeds of sale of rice and sugar.
In Count 6, the prosecution also accused Saraki of making a false declaration in his Asset Declaration Form at the end of tenure as governor of Kwara in 2007 and on assumption of office as governor in 2007 by failing to declare his outstanding loan liabilities of N315,054,355.92 out of the loan of N380,000,000 obtained from Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, Justice Akomolafe-Wilson held that there was “direct evidence” from the testimony of first, second and fourth prosecution witnesses supporting the three counts.
The two-man panel of the CCT, headed by Danladi Umar, had, on June 14, 2017, upheld the no-case submission filed by Saraki after the prosecution, led by Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), closed its case with four witnesses and 48 documentary exhibits.
Upholding the no-case submission, the tribunal dismissed the amended 18 counts preferred against Saraki on the grounds that the prosecution was unable to establish any prima facie case against the Senate President.
Umar, in his lead ruling, exonerated Saraki, holding that failure of the prosecution to obtain Saraki’s statement and make it a part of the proof of evidence was fatal to the case.
He adjudged as “absurd” that neither Saraki’s statement nor the report of investigation, said to have been carried out, was produced before the tribunal.
He agreed with the defence team, led by Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), that the prosecution’s evidence had been manifestly discredited during cross-examination by the defence.
But the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, through Jacobs, on June 20, 2017, filed 17-grounds notice of appeal against the CCT’s judgment.
The Federal Government faulted all the grounds on which the CCT predicated Saraki’s acquittal, describing the entire judgment as unreasonable and unconstitutional.
Jacobs subsequently filed an appellant’s brief on July 28, 2017 formulating five issues for determination.
Justice Akomolafe-Wilson, in her judgment on Tuesday, resolved four out of the five issues formulated for determination against Saraki and only one against the appellant, the Federal Government.
The only issue resolved in favour of Saraki and against the appellant was that the appellant was wrong to have contended that the burden of proof in the case of false asset declaration was on the defendant and not the prosecution.
The court held that there was nothing in the constitution that placed the burden of proof on the defendant presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
But the court agreed with Jacobs, affirming the legality of the joint investigation team comprising the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Department of State Services and the Code of Conduct Bureau, set up to investigate the case.
Restating the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, Justice Akomolafe-Wilson said, “There is also nothing wrong or any law preventing the Code of Conduct Bureau, an agent of the Federal Government, from collaborating or acting in concert with any other organs of the Federal Government which are also engaged in investigation and prosecution of criminal matters in order to achieve its mandate under the Constitution and the law.”
The court held that the tribunal was wrong to have held that Saraki was not invited to make a statement in the course of investigating the allegations against him.
It said the Senate President actually made a statement in the course of investigation, which was tendered and admitted by the tribunal as Exhibit 46.
The court also faulted the tribunal for holding that the prosecution failed to prove its case by not tendering the original copies of Saraki’s assets declaration forms and his statement.
It said the Certified True Copies of the forms and statement were sufficient under the law to be admitted as exhibits in favour of the prosecution.
On whether the tribunal was right to have upheld Saraki’s no-case submission, the appellate court resolved the issue against Saraki.
The court also held that the allegation that Saraki was operating a foreign account as a public officer was not proved.
It held that the prosecution failed to prove that the American Express Service Europe Limited, with whom Saraki allegedly kept an account, was a bank.
It held that the prosecution also failed to tender the credit card which it claimed Saraki obtained from AMEX.
Also, the Kwara State chapter of the APC, on Tuesday, said Saraki would be vindicated at the end of the legal journey.
The party, in a statement, by its state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, stated that it welcomed the appellate court judgment.
Buhari said, “Though we do not agree with the section of the judgment which ordered the retrial of the Senate President on three of the counts at the CCT.
“However, the party is convinced the three charges, which the appellate court sustained, will not survive legal scrutiny at the Supreme Court. Soon, the charges will fall like a pack of cards at the Supreme Court.
“It bears repeating that our belief remains unshaken. We strongly believe the Senate President will emerge victorious at the end of the legal journey.”

Oil Prices Hit $65 On North Sea Pipeline Closure
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 12-13-2017, 10:48 AM - No Replies

Oil prices in the international market sustained their rally on Tuesday, with the Brent crude, the international benchmark for crude oil, trading at $65.24 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures traded at 58.21 dollars a barrel
The last time oil prices exceeded the $65-mark was in June 2015 when it traded at $65.49.

Reuters reported that Brent crude oil prices jumped above $65 per barrel after the closure of the Forties North Sea pipeline knocked out significant supplies from a market that was already tightening due to OPEC-led production cuts.

Britain’s Forties oil pipeline, the country’s largest at a capacity of 450,000 barrels per day (bpd), was shut down on Monday after cracks were revealed.
Its operators said that the pipeline could be shut down for weeks as they pursue repairs, adding that a hairline crack was discovered last week.

“It is a supply concern not only because the pipeline transports a significant portion of North Sea crude oil output, but also because it may take weeks before the issue is resolved,” Abhishek Kumar, Senior Energy Analyst at Interfax Energy’s Global Gas Analytics, told Reuters.
Also, market analysts who weighed in on the development said there was equally an oil price support from the consumer side.

“Demand growth across the commodity complex is extremely robust. And inventories across the complex have been declining sharply,” said US bank Goldman Sachs, in a note to clients.
“The market reaction shows that in a tight market, any supply issue will quickly be reflected in higher prices,” added ANZ bank.
The jump in Brent prices widened its premium to WTI prices, making U.S. oil exports more attractive.
OPEC and its allies started withholding supplies last January and currently plan to continue doing so throughout 2018.

However, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has expressed fears that a continuing rise in prices of oil could incentivise U.S. shale oil producers to ramp up production and perhaps derail the production cuts agreements reached by OPEC and its non-OPEC allies.
Kachikwu said the recent meeting of the group in Vienna last month, where the decision was taken to extend the production cuts till the end of 2018, that he feared shale oil producers could ramp up production even though the price rise was good for Nigeria to fund its 2018 budget.

JAMB Remitted N7.8 Billion To Nigerian Govt, Not N5.2 Billion – Oloyede
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 12-13-2017, 10:24 AM - No Replies

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday said it remitted N7.8 billion to federal government coffers from 2016 University and Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME.

The board’s registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, made this known when a delegation from National Officers Council of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, paid a visit to the board in Bwari, FCT.
Mr. Oloyede said “the board paid in N7.8 billion to Federal Government and not N5.2 billion.”

The JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, had in July said the board remitted N5.2 billion.
He said the board would work to ensure that it met the needs of the sector and strive to sustain education standard in the country.

He called for cooperation from stakeholders in the education sector to further raise standard, saying “let us work together and push government to do the needful so that education would be where it ought to be.
“When we identify obstacles, we could push government to amend some areas to enhance the sector.
“I do not see why we should have more than four credits before one can get into college of education, forgetting that it created an opportunity for people like us in the past.

“I assure you that UTME score does not determine the quality of one’s education; it is the environment that makes the difference obvious by segregating institutions.”
Mr. Oloyede challenged the officers on the need to officially make a case for the National Council of Education, which he said was made up of commissioners of education, to review the number of credits to be attained by intending candidates of colleges of education.

He said the board would not hesitate to work with unions to set up a Task Force that would check irregularities that may cripple the sub-sector.
Earlier, the President of COEASU, Nuhu Ogirima, said that the challenge had been an obstacle to admission status of colleges nationwide.
He called for review of the current application process into colleges of education, saying “a review is imperative, given the fact that the current application process predisposes candidates toward university education.
“Notwithstanding the overwhelming preference for admission into university, the provision for college of education as third choice in JAMB sought to obscure the system from others.

“After the selection of the very best from the first choice list, colleges of education are left with no choice in JAMB but the low performing candidates and this does not augur well for the teacher education system.
“The union would, therefore, appreciate if JAMB, without prejudice to her establishment law, explore the possibility of collaborating with stakeholders in colleges of education.
“The collaboration would provide enabling environment that could improve the admission status of the colleges nationwide.”

He announced that the council would soon set up a committee that would come up with memorandum to tackle the issues before the necessary quarters.
The meeting was attended by directors of the board.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DECEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*WE REIGN WITH HIM AND IN HIM .*

Wednesday, December 13th .
Pastor Chris

_*The LORD will send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies (Psalm 110:2).*_

The Lord Jesus is the Head over the Church, which is His body. The head and the body are one, and they go by the same name, which is Christ. Having been baptized into the body of Christ through the new birth, you’ve become one with Christ. What, and who He is, we have also become. Hallelujah!

No wonder the Bible says as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Ephesians 1:22 says God has put all things under His feet: _*“And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.”*_ So, if Jesus is the head over all things, and we’re one with Him, then we’re also head over all things. We reign in Him and with Him. The Bible says, _*“…he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet”*_ (1 Corinthians 15:25). This isn’t about Him reigning in heaven, but in the earth.

Isaiah 9:6 says, _*“…and the government shall be upon his shoulder….”*_ Notice that the government is upon His shoulder; that is, His body—the Church. Therefore, when the Psalmist declared, _*“The LORD will let your power reach out from Zion, and you will rule over your enemies”*_ (Psalm 110:2 CEV), it’s through the Church—His body—that He reigns and rules.

As a member of the body of Christ, you rule and reign in His stead. Revelation 5:10 says He’s made us kings and priests—to reign on the earth. Take your place of dominion, and reign in the Name of Jesus over circumstances. Refuse to be sick, broke, or poor. Refuse to be a victim. Take charge and win every day. Reign and rule in life as the king that you are.

*CONFESSION*

*I take possession of all that belong to me in Christ, enjoying my triumphant life to the full, to the glory of His Name! I take my place of dominion, and reign in the Name of Jesus over circumstances. I’m in charge and in control, winning every day. Blessed be God!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 John 4:4* Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. *||*

*||* *Luke 10:19* Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. *||*

*||* *Revelation 5:10* And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. *||*

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 13TH DECEMBER.
I affirm that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus! The Spirit of God has taken His abode in my heart; therefore, my life is one of glory and excellence. I have received eternal life, and my life is indestructible! There’s a pulsating life that permeates my entire being, and with that life, I bless my world today. I am conscious that I have something to give; thus, I distribute the blessings of the Kingdom to those I come in contact with today. I am exceedingly fruitful; there's nothing that I do that fails. There's no unfruitfulness in me because I am the seed of Abraham. Daily, my spirit is exposed to the Word and I'm brought to remembrance of all that I require to live the divine life. Through my fellowship with the Spirit, the realities and glories of the Kingdom are made manifest in my life, and I experience the manifestations of the Spirit in my daily walk. I know the Lord’s thoughts towards me; they are thoughts of peace, success, prosperity and a triumphant life! Blessed be God!

Man sells daughter and neighbour’s child to raise funds for father in law’s burial
User Avatar Forum: Crime
Posted by: Pretty Bird - 12-12-2017, 02:46 PM - No Replies

An artisan on Waidi Ogunseye Street, Meiran, Lagos State, Kingsley Oriaku, has owned up to selling one of his five children, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, Chimamada Oriaku.

He also confessed to kidnapping his neighbour’s seven-year-old son, Gabriel Yanga, barely two months after he moved to the area, adding that he used the N310,000 he realised from the sale of the two children for the burial of his father-in-law.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the 37-year-old Abia State indigene sold his daughter in September 2017 for N190,000 to the operator of an orphanage home in Aba, Abia State, through a self-acclaimed evangelist, Adaeze Obi.
Two days after selling the daughter, he returned to his Lagos residence and reportedly lured Yanga out of the compound, while her mother was not at home.
He was alleged to have subsequently taken him to Obi in Abia State, who linked him up with one Loveth Nwako.
Nwako was said to have led Kingsley and Yanga to her sister in Anambra State.
The sister, Ngozi, collected the child and gave the artisan N120,000.
It was learnt that the suspects were arrested in November by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, where Yanga’s parents reported the case.
Kingsley was paraded at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Monday along with two of the accomplices, Nwako and Obi.
He told PUNCH Metro that he sold the children to raise funds for the burial of his father-in-law in Abia State.
He said,
“I am a bricklayer. My father-in-law died and we wanted to do his burial. Peoplr that owed me refused to pay me. I was living in Abia State before with my family. In July, I moved down to Lagos. Early in September 2017, I contacted a nurse called Patience that I wanted Chimamada to be at the orphanage for proper care. She works at a hospital where my wife gave birth to Chimamada.
“Patience directed me to the evangelist, who took Chimamada to the orphanage home. I collected N190,000 from the operator of the orphanage home. Two days after, I came back to Lagos and fled with Gabriel (Yanga). I took him to the evangelist on her request and got N120,000. I used the money for my father in-law’s burial.”
He said after much pressure from his wife on the whereabouts of their daughter, he opened up to her, adding that his wife reported him to the police in Abia State.
“We later settled the case and our daughter was recovered from the orphanage. In November, policemen from Lagos came to pick me up in Abia State. Loveth (Nwako) and I led them to recover the boy as well,” he added.
The 38-year-old evangelist, Obi, said she got only N10,000 transport fare from Esther, the orphanage owner, adding that Kingsley lied to her (Obi).
She said,
“Patience contacted me. She said Kingsley told her that he had separated from his wife and that no one was taking care of their children. She asked me to direct him to an orphanage where he could take one of the children to. I took Kingsley to the Queen Esther Motherless Baby Home. He told the woman that he was stranded and needed money to pay house rent.
“The woman gave him N190,000 and gave me N10,000 for transport. I did not partake in the transaction. She is a member of my church, Jesus Solution Ministry. I was in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) for a ministry on November 18 when I was arrested.”
Nwako, 49, said,
“I attended Adaeze’s ministry. I told her that my elder sister needed somebody to be helping her because of her health condition. When Kingsley brought the boy to her, she called me. Kingsley and I took the boy to my sister in Anambra State. He said he wanted the boy to be taken care of, but he needed N120,000 to pay house rent. I only helped my sister. Her daughter is observing her national youth service in Nasarawa State.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said the case came to the knowledge of the command on October 29, 2017, through Yanga’s mother, Olabisi.
The CP explained that Yanga was recovered at the Ajali village, Anambra State, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
He said,
“She reported that her seven-year-old son was missing and all efforts to trace him proved abortive. Based on the report received, the command deployed a crack team of investigators drawn from SARS and arrested one Kingsley Oriaku. The team interrogated Kingsley, who confessed to sold the victim, Gabriel Yanga. He also confessed to have earlier sold his child to an orphanage for N190,000.”

‘8 years ago I walked down the isle a very sad bride’ -Nigerian lady shares her story
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Pretty Bird - 12-12-2017, 02:36 PM - No Replies

Sharing excerpts from her book ‘I Am Mae:Turned InsideOut’, a Nigerian writer and Humanitarian, Eniola Ennmae Adeniji, revealed that she walked down the aisle 8 years ago, as an unhappy bride.
According to her, she didn’t want the wedding to hold after what she discovered during the closest time she spent with her would be husband, who she dated in a long distance relationship. Here’s her story;

“Super Super Long Post Alert… _Part 1
_
So today I stumbled on an IG page of a dear friend’s wife, and got to follow the link on her profile to another friend’s Blog. Gosh, that was how I signed myself up for waterworks and haven’t been able to stop even while typing this.
_
The lady had shared about her journey through endometriosis and infertility, through a 3 part Blog post. I must say it is the most emotional thing I’ve read this year, gosh. I think beyond the story and the pain it was laden with, it brought so many memories for me. So so many. Gosh.
_
See 8 years ago I walked down the isle a very sad bride, I knew I didn’t want to, not after all I have discovered during the closest time we spent together preparing for the wedding (since it was a long distance relationship). But I was young, naive, silly, foolish and afraid of failing everyone. I was afraid about what people would say to my mother if I canceled the wedding, what the church would say to my family, what his family would say, what my friends would say. I worried so much about everyone else but ‘ME’. So like a lamb to the slaughter, I walked down that isle. I had cried to bed on the engagement night and my makeup artist had to do so much works to make my face beautiful on the wedding day.
_
Oh I was sad, I tried everything to be happy but I couldn’t. At a point I kept muttering to myself, ‘Eniola, you can do this, you are loving and kind and can make anyone be a better person’. How silly, because I was naive and foolish and didn’t know ‘you can’t make anyone love you, whose intention isn’t to’. _
_
Fast forward to 3 months in it and I knew I couldn’t do shit. I didn’t have the power to, only God can. All I could do was to truly give my best and then focus on God to help do the rest. Oh I was lonely, it was the loneliest season of my life. I wasn’t allowed to go out, have friends or do anything. There was no cable because he believes it was a waste of money. So no TV basically. All I had was my Bible and books. In 3 years I must have read about 100 books and written over 500 articles (chuckles)

Part 2…. I was just expected to wake up very early daily to cook, clean, lay still whenever he wants sex even if he pounces on you while sleeping, and just be mute while every decision is made around you.
And when his mother wants you in Osogbo, you are to pick your bag and go to the park and endure an 8hours journey without a single word. With time, all that soon became a norm until a year later and there was no pregnancy.

And then the daily calls started, how I am expected to explain my body and whatnot, explain my periods and ovulation, explain every headache and temperature. And then when we both visit the family for the holidays, I am told to stay indoor so people won’t see I am not pregnant. And when everyone goes visiting, I’m left in the house.
And then his family deciding which Gynea/OBGN was next for me to see, and how it must be in Osogbo and I had to travel 2/3 times every month by road from Abuja to Osogbo to see a specialist, where I was probed and poked.

Oh the endless injections, the bleedings, the constant pain and suffering. Messed up cycle and hormonal imbalances due to all the drugs and injections. And having no one to talk to through it all (because after all in marriage you are suppose to take things and refrain from talking to outsiders). I’d still come back home to a man who saw nothing but a glorified slave and a sex object.

And then gradually the many injections messed up my weight, I wasn’t eating and yet was gaining weight, my clothes weren’t fitting anymore and I was eventually left with 2/3 clothes and had to rotate them every Sunday. Oh the shame and snicker from people. My skin had become so black and carrying my dread without relocking for over a year. I hated that our Church was inside Sheraton, you can imagine the kind of people there. What was worse was nobody ever talked to me to know what was going on. Nobody, they just found a way to go round me while they chatted with him like I wasn’t there. …..Continued in next comment…
Part 3…. Then gradually depression set in, and then I began to lose my mind. I will be in the sitting room and forget I was cooking and the food will burn with smoke all over the house and I still wouldn’t even know until I begin choking and needed my inhaler. Gosh it felt like hell.
And then finding out a year later through another specialist in Abuja that I wasn’t the problem after all, he was the problem all along, he had no sperm count. Amazing… I think for the first time in a long while I felt joy, I even got to shake my bumbum after he’d gone to work (chuckles). I felt like God vindicated me and for once I was left alone. Of course the abuse continued, but at least minus the poking, endless injections and drugs.
Someday I hope to finish my book and share things I’ve not quite bring myself to share with anyone else. …Now the purpose of this post isn’t to make you feel sad, throw pity party around Naaa. No, it isn’t because I haven’t healed, I have come a very long way in my journey through healing.
The purpose is to advice every young man and woman out here to be patient. NEVER be in a hurry to walk down the isle to anyone you know deep down doesn’t honour God, doesn’t honour you, doesn’t honour anyone. One of the greatest support you can have in marriage is your partner. If they aren’t your partner while dating, marriage won’t translate them into one.
Have you ever watched a war film where 2-3 partners are paired together in a fierce battle to combat an opposing force? Now imagine those partners Waring against each other while also enduring the blow, missiles and gun from the opposing force? Get it? That’s what happens when you walk down the isle to someone who doesn’t have your best interest at heart. I don’t care how rich he/she is, how beautiful or handsome or how ‘nice’ they are, if they do not honour God and honour you, you have no business walking down the isle to them……
Part 4…. I know for a lot of us women, the dream about a Bella Naija wedding can seem so alluring that you ignore the fact that it is just for a weekend. I know a lot of men are daily pressured by families to marry for various reasons, but marriage is forever.
Marriage is beautiful, I have testimonies all around me, but it isn’t a bed of roses, it has its best days as much as it has its worse days. The only thing that causes you to triumph is God and the right partner. There is nothing as amazing as walking through war and minefield with your bestfriend. A man or woman who will stand in faith for you when your faith is all gone. A man or woman who if you end up tomorrow losing your most valuable body parts, will still stand tall beside you. A man or woman that if you lose all your earthly possession will still be blooming beside you while cheering you on.
I beg you in the name of God, wait for him, wait for her and while waiting keep developing yourself towards becoming the perfect spouse you also seek. NEVER neglect the place of God and godly counsel also. Shalom.

Nigeria Lost $32bn To Corruption Under Jonathan – DFID
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-12-2017, 12:02 PM - No Replies

About $32bn was lost to corruption during the six-year administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development said on Monday.

The agency said the huge amount represented 16 per cent of the previous government’s resources that could have been channeled to development.

The agency’s Head of Office, DFID Nigeria, Debbie Palmer, said this at the expression of undergraduate debates challenge to celebrate this year’s international anti-corruption day.

The event was organized by a non-governmental organization, Youngstars Foundation Initiative in Abuja.

She said millions of dollars tied up in legal challenges remained in other countries.

Palmer said: “An independent report estimates that up to $32bn was lost to corruption under the previous government. This is around 15 per cent of state resources during the period and could well be an under-estimate.

“So the estimate is that nearly 16 per cent of the previous government’s money was lost to corruption. That is a staggering amount of money. And that is money that is to all of you and to your future. That is why we all should care about corruption.

“Millions of dollars also remain in other jurisdictions tied up in legal challenges.”

Palmer said youths in the country have a critical role to play in President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-graft fight.

She added that the UK is committed to supporting Nigeria to tackle corruption in all its various forms through its anti-corruption programme in Nigeria.

Nigeria Was Ruled By Looters But Now In The Hands Of Super Looters - ADP
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-12-2017, 11:57 AM - No Replies

The Action Democratic Party, ADP, has assured that it would rescue Nigeria in 2019 from what it termed the failed leadership of both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a statement by its spokesman, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, the party said it had better things to offer Nigerians than APC and PDP, whom he said looted Nigeria dry.

According to the party, while PDP looted the country dry, the ruling APC had done even worse.

It called on Nigerians to embrace the party, saying it was the only credible party that Nigerians can trust with their future.

The statement reads below:

“The Action Democratic Party has observed with keen interest the political situations of the country and has come to a conclusion that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has failed in every areas of governance and is now beyond redemption, whereas the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been infiltrated by their co travellers from the ruling party and has been rendered powerless, working hard to return to Aso Rock to continue their looting after 16 years of holding Nigeria down.

Our party ADP, was set up to give the Nigerian people a credible alternative they have been yearning for, a third force which is capable of turning the country around for good.

Our party, since its registration with the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in June 2017, has continued to receive massive membership. This is an indication that Nigerians are tired and can no longer continue with the shenanigan ways of doing politics which is currently being practiced by both the APC and PDP.

Nigerians across the country, even those in the Diaspora have been looking forward to a credible alternative, a party who can truly and sincerely develop the country where corruption, nepotism, joblessness, retrogressive economy, hunger, high child mortality rate, hyper inflation, brutalization of citizens by government and security forces and other things that have been pulling us back as a nation will be a thing of the past.

Nigeria was ruled by looters, and currently in the hands of super looters. If we must make this country work again, we must rescue it in 2019 for the sake of our hungry and dying citizens. We must make efforts to present to the Nigerian populace a credible and competent candidate at the Presidential race with capacity and good character.

Our state governorship candidates will also posses good leadership qualities to complement the effort of our Presidential candidate for speedy return of our dear country to the path of progress.

We want Nigerians to know that, ADP is a complete departure from charades where there is no shame to steal public funds, where rigging, voters are publicly induced, where candidates are made to pay through their nose before clinching party’s ticket by ticket racketeers, where devious and poisonous propaganda are used in bamboozling and intimidating citizens to vote for them which ends in betrayals of trust after elections.

Our party is calling on Nigerians home and abroad to join hands with us to rescue and take back our country. We must not allow the retrogressive and backward movement of our country to continue, we must team up to work for the realization of the Nigeria of our dreams and that which our generation unborn will be proud of.

The PDP spent the last 16 years at the helms of affairs, the party ended up looting our treasury and rendered the nation useless. Iin the last 2 years under APC, we have seen the worse of governance, which is characterised by hunger, anguish, untimely death, corruption, nepotism and underdevelopment.

The question we should now ask ourselves is, do we want the country to continue in the hands of those who have subjected us to this torturous Nigeria?

Nigerians must note that ADP serves their interest, where many don’t want to be caught between the two deep evil seas.

We are a youth oriented party. We therefore call on youths to seize this opportunity to try their leadership skill, the leaders of the party are ready and willing to guide and mentor them until they become better, no need to entertain any fear.

APC Mustn’t Behave Like PDP, Tinubu Replies Okorocha
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-12-2017, 10:42 AM - No Replies

Quote:A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has reiterated his stance on internal democracy as opposed to the idea of giving automatic tickets to aspirants.

He said his party must not behave like the Peoples Democratic Party, which, according to him, has a penchant for giving automatic tickets to its members.

Tinubu, however, said his position should not be misconstrued by the Governor Rochas Okorocha-APC governors’ forum, saying he believed that governors had an important role to play in the emergence of the party’s candidates.

Tinubu was quoted as expressing these views in a statement on Monday by his media aide, Tunde Rahman.

According to Rahman, the statement was intended to clarify the misrepresentation in an interview that Tinubu granted journalists during his last visit to Akure.

Tinubu had been quoted as saying that the APC would not give President Muhammadu Buhari an automatic ticket for the 2019 presidential election.

Rahman noted that Okorocha had reacted to the statement credited to Tinubu, construing it as a slight on the APC governors who had endorsed Buhari for re-election in 2019.

While also speaking with journalists in Akure, Okorocha had said the governors were entitled to their right to endorse Buhari for re-election, wondering why Tinubu was “crying more than the bereaved.”

But Rahman said Tinubu did not attack the APC governors in the interview he granted journalists in Akure.

He said, “We note the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha’s statement. It is important that the record of what Asiwaju Tinubu said when approached by journalists during his last visit to Akure is accurate. Thus, I make this statement in the hope of clarifying a misinterpretation that seems to have taken hold in some quarters.

“I was at the interview session.  Asiwaju never said anything that could be interpreted as meaning or even implying that the governors are irrelevant or insignificant to the party’s nomination process.

“As a former governor and a leading statesman within the party, such words would never come from him.

“Moreover, Asiwaju is a democrat who believes that the open and democratic processes of the APC, which led to the nomination of President Buhari in the first instance, have served the party well and have helped to distinguish the APC from the PDP and other parties where fairness and internal democracy are rare commodities.

“Every individual has a right to endorse or support a candidate of his choosing. What Asiwaju said at that encounter and still canvasses is that the APC should not mimic the PDP’s penchant for short-circuiting internal democracy by promoting the idea of an automatic ticket.

“The exercise of internal democracy and honouring the letter and spirit of party rules can only strengthen the party and enthuse its members.

“ The APC’s all-inclusive philosophy was not devised today. It had been with the party since its creation.”

"I Was Broke, My Friend Gave N200m After I Prayed, Fasted For 3 Months"

Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, says after praying and fasting for three months, God used a friend to help him raise N200 million needed for his personal expenditure and litigation fees to reclaim his mandate in the 2007 election.

Although Amaechi won the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it was Celestine Omehia, his cousin, who represented PDP in the election.

Amaechi had headed to the court and after six months of legal battle, the supreme court sacked Omehia and he was eventually sworn in.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital on Sunday, the minister charged the congregation to believe in the power of prayer.

“The truth is that we believed God. Some who didn’t believe left us just as they are leaving now. God told me that what he will do in Rivers State will tingle the ears, and I believed,” Amaechi said.

“We were so broke, we could not pay legal fees or children’s school fees. My wife prayed every day and night. I was fasting and praying for three months. I told God ‘I have a friend who has money, please make him remember me.’

“I called my friend and he told me he has been looking for me. I told him I was in Ghana and he asked for my account… He sent me Two hundred million naira. This is just to tell you that I believed God and he answered me.

“We must all go back to God in faith and prayers. Those who want to leave can go. I have come to understand that God passes us through these challenges to prove himself. Now that they have left, for me, this is an opportunity for the youths. It is your turn. You must ensure that we get to power for you to fill the vacuum left.”

He said if members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not pray, 2019 will “be very far from us”.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 12TH DECEMBER.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Soul Winning: Our Conscious Lifestyle ✨

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

In Luke 19:10, Jesus said, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” ; this is the summary of His mission on earth. Shortly before He ascended, He commissioned the Church to preach the Gospel to all men that they might receive eternal life. This is the ministry of reconciliation, which has been committed to our trust. Every Christian has a ministry to fulfil in soul winning; it’s our conscious lifestyle. We’re called to turn men to righteousness; to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God.

You’re a missionary Christian, commissioned to spread the message of salvation in your world and to the regions beyond. We’re in the last days, and the Lord is doing a quick work; He’s working with and through His Church to make His righteousness known, and establish His Kingdom in the earth and in the hearts of men. We’re His partners in soul winning and world evangelism. Don’t be complacent or wary about soul winning and evangelism.

Help someone receive salvation this Christmas season, as that’s the most precious gift you could give to anyone who’s not yet born again. Help those around you learn the Word; show them the path of life! Teach them how to live. That’s what Jesus said: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). He wants you to disciple those in your world; teach them the way of righteousness. This is your calling as a Christian.

There’s no better way to please the Lord and fulfil His will than leading sinners to receive salvation. The glory of God is manifested specially in the life of the one who’s a passionate soul winner. Daniel 12:3 says, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Make your life one of ever-increasing glory by making soul winning your conscious lifestyle.

CONFESSION
My life is one of ever-increasing glory, as I fulfil the ministry of reconciliation, bearing and
dispensing the divine realities of the Gospel to my world. My words are anointed of the Spirit to bring salvation to the unsaved and impart to them the blessings of the Gospel, turning them from darkness to light, and bringing them into the glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What APC Must Do To Ensure They Defeat PDP In 2019 Presidential Election - Hon. Amaechi
Chibuike Rontimi Amaechi, The Minister of Transportation has urged Nigerians in his political circle to rededicate themselves and restore their commitment to God ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Dr. Amaechi spoke while testifying of his ‘miraculous’ emergence as Governor of Rivers State in 2007 during a special thanksgiving service to mark the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court judgement that declared him Governor of Rivers State, held at the Abundant Life Evangelical Mission (ALEM) in Port Harcourt, Sunday.
The former Rivers governor is a key member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. With former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent defection from the APC to PDP, some members of the opposition PDP have urged Mr. Amaechi to also return to their fold.
Mr. Amaechi re-lived his ordeal in 2007 and how God showed up for him when all odds were against him. In his words;
“The truth is that we believed God. Some who didn’t believe left us just as they are leaving now. God told me that what he will do in Rivers State will tingle the ears, and I believed. We were so broke, we could not pay legal fees or children’s school fees. My wife prayed every day and night. I was fasting and praying for 3 months.
I told God ‘I have a friend who has money, please make him remember me.’ I called my friend and he told me he has been looking for me. I told him I was in Ghana and he asked for my account… He sent me Two hundred million naira. This is just to tell you that I believed God and he answered me,” Mr. Amaechi said.
“We must all go back to God in faith and prayers. Those who want to leave can go. I have come to understand that God passes us through these challenges to prove himself. Now that they have left, for me, this is an opportunity for the youths. It is your turn. You must ensure that we get to power for you to fill the vacuum left.
“I have sometimes asked God, ‘why do you use me to bless people and after blessing them, they run away.’ Count how many people in Rivers State politics today that I did not help somehow. I don’t want to take the glory away from God. So for those who left, may God bless them.
“When you get your own appointment, also put somebody. Allow God to use you and leave the rest all up to him,” Mr. Amaechi advised.
“if we don’t pray, 2019 will be very far from us. If we don’t win 2019, it would be your fault, not anybody else. We go to God because he answers. We pray, then go home and work. Back then, even in my father’s house in the village there was a prayer team…”
“Making a man who did not participate in elections governor is one act of God that can not be erased in the history of Rivers State. God is in charge of this state, that is why the conspiracy of evil ones cannot stand.
Apostle Ogu admonished the congregation to do good and avoid evil communications, because “what you sow, you shall reap. If you are paid to kill people, somebody will kill you without collecting money. If you use your pen to lie against people, if you blackmail people, one day somebody will ‘blackpaint’ you.”

"Buhari’s Ministers Are Unhappy" - Bishop Kukah
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2017, 07:56 PM - No Replies

Quote:Matthew Kukah, bishop of Sokoto diocese of the Catholic Church, says President Muhammadu Buhari and some of his ministers are not happy.
Kukah said this in an interview with Abang Mercy , a social media expert.

The cleric said those currently in charge of this nation did not envisage that things would take this turn.

There has been an outcry of hardship among some Nigerians.

“We must get our people to a point in which they appreciate when the value of their life is depreciating. And that is what is happening to us now,” he said.

“In most part of northern Nigeria for example where children are stunting, when those children turn 30, 40 and they become part of your workforce, their capacity to interpret data, grasp the urgency of development is severely constrained.

“For me, these are some of the issues and that is why I say Buhari himself is not happy… except a few ministers, but even the ministers themselves are unhappy because they didn’t imagine that they would be going through the difficulty that they are going through.

“If I ask you to point at one department of government that is so upbeat about what people have achieved, I think it will be hard to find out any.”

Kukah said some of the president’s “new friends” in the All Progressives Congress (APC) were those he sent to jail while serving as the military head of state in 1984.

He said it was worrisome that the president has not changed the approach he used to fight corruption during his military regime.

Kukah added that the Nigerian leader was not brought into power by angels.

“I have known Buhari for a while but I don’t want to claim I am close to him but he is a man I have tremendous respect for,” Kukah said.

“My worry is that President Buhari thought and probably still thinks corruption is stealing money, and the people stealing money are largely bureaucrats or government officials, which was what happened in 1984.

“Buhari simply went around and arrested all the people who were holding government offices.

The only thing we feel very sad about Nigeria is our collective amnesia. There are people who are key kingpins in APC today who were sentenced to various years of imprisonment by Buhari in 1984, some up to 100 years.

“But since this is Nigeria, many of them have finished serving their 100-year jail term. They have come back, joined APC and are active members of the party.

“Buhari was not brought into power by angels. We know the nature of the vehicle that would bring anybody to the presidency of Nigeria.”

Although the cleric said he was not in the position to access the Buhari administration, he maintained that the president still had the time to make right his wrongs.

“I am not the one to measure Buhari’s competence. It will take us four years to decide if Buhari is the man for the job or not. Or we have the national assembly; if they are serious and up to their job, they can stop an incompetent president mid-way,” he said.

“Buhari is going to be president for four years. We are just gone past the first half. And like the game of soccer, until the final whistle is blown, you can’t say who has won.

“It is quite conceivable that he might probably do something quite spectacular. For example, he is going to the south-east, which I think is quite unfortunate because it came so many years too late.

“But notwithstanding that, I think with a certain kind of smartness, and if the president has the ability to look back and say what could we have done differently, and if he can take his attention away from some of the hypocrites around him, I think Buhari is free to step forward and say he wants to run for the 2019 election.”

Explosion Rocks Bus Terminal In New York (photos)

Quote:One suspect has been arrested after an explosion near New York City’s Port Authority bus terminal on Monday morning, the New York Police Department has said.

NYPD said several people were injured, stating that a device went off and there was a person strapped with a bomb.

NYC Office of Emergency Management tweeted there was “police activity” near West 42nd Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues and advised commuters to expect delays.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said President Donald Trump has been briefed about the incident.

Why Trump’s response matters:

President Trump had repeatedly shown his disapproval towards the immigration policy of the United States of America. Trump had said America would be safer without immigrants from certain countries, which he banned entry from.

POTUS, who is fond of blaming similar occurrences on immigrants, mostly Muslims will most likely make similar comments on this incident.

The President is also known to describe White bombers and gunmen, as a ‘demented man’, instead of terrorists. (YNaija)

Olisa Agbakoba Says: President Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t understand how to run govt
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2017, 03:41 PM - No Replies

POLITICS – H ere is latest news report as A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is bereft of the understanding of how a government should be run.
Meanwhile he also described the federal cabinet put together by Buhari as incompetent, saying the President is “sleeping on the job.”
“Government’s work is misunderstood even by the President. He doesn’t understand the nature of how to run a government,” Agbakoba told reporters in Lagos.
According to him, Buhari’s government is performing poorly because a number of his ministers do not have the required competence to handle the portfolios assigned to them.
Examples of such ministers, he said, are Geoffrey Onyeama, a lawyer, appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Kayode Fayemi, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
He said though Fayemi and Enyeama were brilliant men, they were round pegs in square holes.
“He (Buhari) needs to sack his entire cabinet because they have failed,” Agbakoba said.
The lawyer also highlighted the objectives of the National Intervention Movement, which was recently floated by him and others.
Agbakoba explained that since the floating of the movement was reported in the media last week, people had inundated him with phone calls, asking him whether it was a new political party and how they could join.
He, however, clarified that “NIM is not a political party but a pressure group to put the government on its toes.”
“Our objective is to mobilise Nigerians to hold government accountable at all levels. We want to grow by inspiring and supporting people to start small groups across the country,” he said.
Agbakoba said the activities of the group would involve active use of the social media to sensitise Nigerians and sometimes hold rallies when necessary.
“It is going to be membership-based and we are going to have friends of the movement. We are not going to depend on anybody to fund us, we are going to ask Nigerians to fund us; send your N100, send your N200, because it will require a lot of resources. So, in one way, we want Nigerians to claim ownership of the movement. That’s the structure,” he said.
Agbakoba said like Buhari, the state governors had not fared better, describing Lagos State, for instance, as a broken city.
“Governor Ambode of Lagos State says that he runs either the third or fifth largest economy in Africa, but you are all in Lagos. This is a broken city, it is a completely broken city and in the index of the harshest cities to live in the world, Lagos is third from the last,” Agbakoba said.
He added, “Ambode is fixing federal roads when Lagos State roads are deplorable.
“Okorocha is erecting statues of all kinds of people when Imo State owes pensioners.
“Wike is using Rivers State money to buy SUVs for members of the National Assembly.”
Agbakoba said the high recurrent expenditure in the nation’s budget exemplified Buhari’s misunderstanding of how government should be run as well as lack of will power.
“The current budget is about N8tn; 70 per cent is for recurrent expenditure, that means salaries.
“Now, only three million people in Nigeria, working with the Federal Government, ‘chop’ all that money to the exclusion of the 180 million people. So, where’s the fairness? Three million people and 70 per cent, and the remainder 30 per cent for 180 million people.”

The Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has approved the suspension of the Chairman of Potiskum Local Government, Alhaji Moh’d Musa, over alleged misappropriation of Hajj fund.
According to a statement issued by the Press Secretary in the governor’s office, Shuaibu Abdullah, the governor acted after the recommendations of an investigative committee set up by the House of Assembly.
He said, “an investigative committee was constituted by the Assembly following a report by the Pilgrims Commission, which indicted the embattled chairman and some council officials to have misappropriated N38.9 million 2017 Hajj fare paid to the local government by 33 intending pilgrims.
“His suspension was as a result of the report from the Pilgrims Commission, which confirmed that 33 potential pilgrims from Potiskum Local government, who paid to perform the 2017 Hajj could not do so because the fund deposited with the council was misappropriated by the chairman and other persons.”
Others indicted by the report and the house committee included the Hajj collector for the local government and the council’s former treasurer and director of personnel management.

APC’s Unwarranted Attack Shows It Is Jittery, Clutching On Straws – PDP
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2017, 03:38 PM - No Replies

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Uche Secondus, has condemned the critical remarks of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) concerning the conduct of yesterday’s national convention of the PDP.
The APC had alleged that reports of alleged rigging during election shows that PDP is rooted in corruption and cannot change.
It added that the South West Chairmanship candidates lost as a punishment of not voting for the Party in 2015.
However, in a rebuttal on Sunday by Kola Ologbondiyan, its newly elected National Publicity Secretary, the PDP said the unwarranted attack shows that the APC is jittery and only “clutching on straws” for survival having been outrightly rejected by Nigerians.
He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the spokesman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Malam Bolaji Abdulahi, wherein he criticized the conduct of the elective National Convention of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is indeed laughable that the APC which has roundly failed in not only managing the affairs of the country but also its own internal issues would recourse to panic mode just because the PDP has succeeded in uniting its fronts by conducting of a very credible elective National Convention.
“We were very much aware of the plots by the APC to scuttle the convention and failing it has resorted to a failed attempt to discredit an elective convention that has been adjudged as creditable, novel and laudable by political stakeholders and lovers of democracy across the nation.
“This unwarranted attack is only symptomatic of a party that has lost control and only clutching on straws for survival having been outrightly rejected by Nigerians.
“Is it not disgusting, reprehensible and embarrassing that the APC that has repeatedly failed to hold meetings, congresses and convention in the last three years and has flagrantly continued to violate its own constitution is questioning our party’s rights to perform her legitimate and constitutional obligation?
“Perhaps APC leaders have never read Article 25 (A)(i) of their party’s Constitution which stipulates that “the National Convention of the party (APC) shall be held once in two years at a date, venue and time to be recommended by the National Working Committee (NWC) and approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) subject to the giving of the statutory notices to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and at least 14 days notice given to members eligible to attend.”
“Which impunity could be higher than APC violating its constitution? It is strange that APC could be moralizing on the principles of social justice whereas its actions against Nigerians are a complete departure from the norms.
“It is important for this spokesman of a failed party and his pack of incompetent members to reminisce on the needless pains and suffering they have inflicted on Nigerians rather than being jittery over the successful outcome of the PDP’s elective national convention.
“Nigerians have come to discover that APC is a fraud, an organization of deceitful characters who have failed to keep a single of its countless promises made to the citizens.
“It is no longer news that the nation is drifting under APC and the PDP has come to the rescue. We must therefore remind the APC that the era of deceit, trickery and scaremongering, which has been the hallmarks of their government, is gone and Nigerians are just waiting to kick them out come 2019.”

Atiku asks PDP to focus on sacking a govt that got power ‘through deceit

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on sacking a government that “deceived Nigerians” to get power.
He said this while congratulating Uche Secondus over his emergence as national chairman of the PDP.
The former vice-president said Nigerians look up to the PDP to rescue them from the “misgovernment” of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party is, again, at the threshold of a historical moment. Just as we mobilized to put an end to prolonged military rule in 1999, the people of Nigeria at this moment look up to us to rescue the country from the misgovernment of the APC,” he said in a statement.
“Arising from our elective congress, there should be no victor and no vanquished. Our paramount attention should be focused at sacking a government that deceived the people of Nigeria into power by promising our youths three million jobs annually, only to deliver three million job losses annually; a government that is repeatedly living in denial of its commitment to restructuring.
“We must be united to take power back to where it belongs – the Nigerian people.
“As members of the PDP, we must take pride in being able to hold a national convention and in so doing live up to the bill of being a truly democratic political party. Our major opponent has not been able to achieve this feat and I join millions of our party members to congratulate the Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee.”
He said though there were complaints by those who contested for positions in the party’s national working committee, “the PDP has a mechanism for addressing such complaints which should be explored”.
“I understand that there are complaints and grievances from many of the co-contestants in the congress,” he said.
“I am aware that the PDP has a mechanism for addressing such complaints and it is important that such avenues of redress are made available for members to explore without let or hindrance Meantime, I call on all our leaders and members to rally the new executive for the sake of our party, Nigeria and the good of our people.”

Fulani Herdsmen Kill 10 In Kogi Community
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-11-2017, 02:08 PM - No Replies

Yekini Jimoh in Lokoja

Some Fulani herdsmen weekend invaded two local government councils respectively in Kogi State, where they reportedly killed 10 persons and then set their farmlands on fire.
The incident took place on Friday in Omala and Yagba West local government councils respectively.

According to an eye-witness account yesterday, some Fulani herdsmen invaded Ogabifo village near Agbenema community in Omola local government council of the state on Friday with their cattle.

According to the source, the Fulani herdsmen invaded the farmland and fed their cattle with the produce of the farm, and when the owner of the farm with his family approached them, they attacked the farmer and his family and chased them to the village where about 10 people were reportedly killed.

THISDAY further gathered that after invading the village, the Fulani herdsmen went back to the farm and destroyed the crops there and then ran away.

A source (name withheld) said the Fulani herdsmen numbering five were fully armed with AK 47 rifles and other dangerous weapons. The source also confirmed to THISDAY that the villagers have run away from the various houses as the Fulani herdsmen promised to invade the village again.
In another similar incident, Fulani herdsmen have also invaded another farm land in Yagba West local government council of the state.

An eye-witness disclosed to THISDAY saturday that the Fulani herdsmen with over 30 cattle invaded a rice farm owned by a woman in Omi, destroyed the rice farm and chased the farmers from their farm land.

A farmer, who doesn’t want his identity to be known, disclosed to THISDAY that the Fulani herdsmen were fully armed when they arrived at the farmland.

He added that other farmers were in their farms working when they heard several gunshots when the Fulani herdsmen invaded the farms. He stated that it was by God’s grace that they escaped from their farms. He therefore appealed to the state government to take a proactive step by calling the Fulani herdsmen to order.

The Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello last week had said that he would not introduce any anti-grazing law to curtail the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state.

According to the governor, during a tripartite stakeholders’ meeting between the state government, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers’ Association and the Farmers Association in Kogi State, Bello said rather, he threw the gate of the state open to any Fulani herdsmen who have been finding it difficult to stay in states like Benue, Ekiti and Nasarawa to see Kogi as their next destination, as the state was ready not only to accommodate them but also provide security for their lives and property.

Governor Bello said the people of the state must go and learn how to coexist peacefully with the cattle rearers.

The governor also read riot acts to the traditional rulers, in the state vowing to adopt all available means to punish them if they fail to instill discipline and prevent further breakdown of law and order in their domain.

“My administration will deal with any traditional rulers; anywhere there is crisis, the traditional ruler will be removed or dethroned from office,” he warned.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. William Ayah, while confirming the report, disclosed that it was true that some unknown gunmen killed two persons in Omala local government area of the state.

Popular Lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has revealed those responsible for supplying arms to dreaded terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

Falana revealed that the weapons being used by the terrorists were looted from an Armory in Libya. He said that the current crisis and slave trade going on in the country was a result of the killing and ousting of its former leader, Muammar Ghaddafi.

In a statement delivered in Lagos on Sunday titled: “Why Nigerian victims of slavery cannot sue Libya", Falana said;

"Today, not less than five armed gangs are laying claim to the leadership of the country. It has been confirmed that the arms and ammunition looted from the armoury in Libya were sold to the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

It is also true that the shameful slave trade which Nigeria is battling with is part of the fallout from the removal and brutal killing of President Muammar Gaddafi by armed gangs supported by the allied forces of imperialism led by the United States under President Barrack Obama."

I Introduced Oritsefemi To His Wife’- Former Manager Danku

DankuOritsefemi’s former manager who the singer had a public fall out with, has laid an indirect claim following Oritsefemimarriage to his wife, Nabila Fash.
The estranged manager who said he was invited for the wedding but too busy to attend in his interview with Sunday Scoop, claimed he introduced Oritsefemi to his wife.
I was invited for the wedding but I was quite busy and I had to attend some business meetings. I wish him well, and I pray that God would bless their marriage. I don’t think there is any big deal about me not attending the wedding. If there was any issue between us, I would let you know. We are on good terms. I don’t regret anything I did for Oritsefemi in the past. I met him when he was nothing and I was able to build him up; I thank God for that privilege. The good thing is that we are both doing well in our careers now,” he said.
On if he gave the new couple a gift, Danku said;
“We have a way of giving ourselves gifts but for now, there is nothing special.”
On the role he played in Oritsefemi’s love affair, he said;
“I was the one who introduced Oritsefemi to his wife, Funke, also known as Nabila Fash. I recall that I met her at GoTV’s anniversary celebration. Artiste managers had been invited for a get-together before the grand finale of the anniversary. When I got to the event, we spoke at length. I liked her friendly attitude and the way she attended to people so I told her I wanted her to meet my artiste, Oritsefemi. Meanwhile, Oritsefemi wasn’t in the country at that time, and I told him that there was a lady I wanted him to meet. I told him that I wanted her to be a friend of the house, and that she would be good for him in particular. Eventually, I made proper introductions between the both of them at the backstage of an event in Abuja. I made sure that the relationship started on a good note and I backed off.”

6 female kidnappers who steal children from churches arrested in Imo

Suspects arrested include Ijeoma Eboka, Irene Ogbuehi, Chinyere Mark, Perpetua Dike, Lilian Asoluka, Grace Ogueri and Edith Ejiaga, as it was gathered that leader of the gang, 32-year-old Nnenna Njoku uses her 10-year-old daughter, Chinecherem Onyejiaka, to lure children out of churches and homes.
Speaking to Punch correspondent, the State’s Police PRO, Andrew Enwerem, said the number of children missing in the prime suspect’s area of operation was nine.
The prime suspect confessed to stealing three children. The other suspects were arrested and they made confessional statements, which led to the recovery of three children – Ezinne Nwosu (4), Chimjindum Felix (3),and Rejoice Ezirim (3).
It is worthy of note that one Chimaobi Duru (4), was earlier recovered from the prime suspect, Nnenna Njoku.”

Lagos Baale crushes wife to death with Jeep
Baale of Ise Town, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, Taibu Ogunbanjo, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for reportedly crushing his wife of three years, Rotimi Ogunbanjo, with his Toyota Highlander.
It was gathered that Taibu’s marriage was plagued with misunderstanding and fights, and Rotimi’s death on Thursday, December 7, 2017 came after she went to her husband’s block-moulding factory at Folu, a community in Ibeju Lekki, to destroy blocks moulded.
Akinsipe, a community leader who confirmed the incident, disclosing that the matter was reported at the Akodo Police Station, said Rotimi died at the spot and her corpse has been deposited at the Epe General Hospital.
“He (Taibu) is the baale of the community. He and his wife had been having issues since they got married. I did not know what actually happened between them on that day, but I learnt that they had a disagreement in the morning.
“She went to his block factory and destroyed some blocks arranged on the premises. He entered his vehicle angrily and as he was driving out of the premises, the wife tried to stop him. He hit her and she died on the spot” Akinsipe said.
A police source who spoke to Punch’s correspondent, said the suspect’s family reported at the police station that the death resulted from an accident.
“The baale and the woman got married three years ago without a child and they had been having disagreements. On that particular day, she destroyed some blocks at the industry. The man became angry and as he was driving out, he crushed her with his vehicle on the factory premises.
“The relations of the suspect have said that it was a case of an accident. But looking at the circumstances surrounding the incident, the accident claim is untenable” the source said.

89% of Nigerians unhappy, that was why I created Ministry of Happiness’ -Okorocha
Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, who has faced lots of backlash following the creation of Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, has defended his action following a visit by airmen led by the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, AVM Sampson Akpasa to the State’s Government house.
Rochas who spoke during the visit last weekend, said 89 per cent of Nigerians are unhappy “in the real sense of the word happiness”. He further disclosed that only 4 per cent could really be happy to some extent, while 7 per cent might claim to be happy. He added that the vital aspect of human existence, which is happiness, must be addressed.
Punch reports that Gov. Rochas further disclosed that agitations, insurgence, hate-speeches and the likes, come up when people are unhappy.
“I thank you for your efforts in bringing Regiment 211 to Imo State. In appreciation, we have donated a 200-bed hospital to the force. This morning I spoke to the Chief of Air Force, about our intention to also donate the school to train electricians and artisans; you are doing a wonderful job.
But if you can observe recently, the level of crisis and agitations are on the increase. While we fight insurgence, I would want to advise that we also should go deep down to find the root cause of this agitation.
Agitation comes up when people are not happy, and the whole essence of life is to be happy. For this reason, I will advice that the Air Force too, just like I did recently, which most people didn’t understand, should create a department for Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment. This will help to address the need of even junior officers, who may have some forms of dissatisfaction in the discharge of their duties. Sometimes, you may think they are happy when they are not, and this sabotages the efforts of the Federal Government.
Mentor ship is another aspect which can help people achieve their purpose in life. If people are happy, there will be less agitation. The amount of money we spend on aircrafts and in the purchase of arms would have reduced by 50 per cent. This could also end issues of restructuring, Niger Delta and all other forms of agitations” he said.

Anthony Joshua Set For Mega Fight With Parker
[Image: anthony%2Bj.jpg]
Anthony Joshua set for mega heavyweight unification fight with Joseph Parker on March 31 in Cardiff, according to  The Sun.

New Zealander Parker, the WBO heavy world champion, is set to meet the British boxing star and WBA and IBF title holder at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital.

And the 25-year-old Parker has stated that talks are at an advanced stage.

Speaking to ESPN, he said,  “I think the Joshua fight can go ahead early next year when both teams are locked in and happy.

“When we can find a free date, a time in March, then we can definitely make it happen.

“Negotiations are going good. I think we’re close to locking something in. They’re stuck at 30 per cent (of the split), we’re stuck at 35 so it’s just finding the middle ground.

“We’ll take 35 percent which means Joshua will take 65, which is nearly double me, so I think that’s a fair deal because he’s the bigger draw card and he’s has two belts, and I have one.

“I think that’s reasonable and fair.

“I think we’re very close. I’m excited as it’s a chance to showcase my skills in the UK more.”

Parker and his camp are confident that they can cause a huge upset against the undefeated English golden boy once they finally get inside the ring.

NNPC - (Zero remittance in 9 years)

Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Sunday said it had opened 577 bids submitted by firms seeking to secure the insurance renewal contract for the corporation’s oil and non-oil assets.
According to the NNPC’s Group General Manager, Risk Management and Insurance, Mr. Modupe Bameke, the public opening of bids is a requirement of the Bureau of Public Procurement aimed at promoting transparency.

He was quoted in a statement issued by the spokesman for the NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, as saying, “The essence of this public bid opening is to ensure that the corporation complies strictly with the provisions of the Bureau of Public Procurement Act. All the bids will be opened in the presence of everybody to ensure that all entries are properly captured in line with the transparency principle of the NNPC.”
The NNPC’s Group General Manager, Supply Chain Management, Mr. Shehu Liman, said the bids opening was aimed at providing a level playing field for all bidding companies.
“The idea is to select broking and insurance companies that are credible and capable with a track record of performance. What this means is that we are going to eliminate all those transactions that are not necessary,” Liman stated.
On the number of bidders, the NNPC said 245 brokers tendered for oil assets, 251 brokers for non-oil assets while 37 insurance companies tendered for oil assets and 44 for non-oil assets.
Representatives of the companies, which tendered bids for the NNPC insurance renewal contract in whose presence the bids were opened, commended the national oil firm, according to the statement.
It stated that the bid opening event had in attendance officials of the BPP, Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, and National Insurance Commission, as well as members of the civil society who served as independent assessors.

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DECEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*THE BLESSEDNESS OF GIVING .*

Monday, December 11th .
Pastor Chris

_*While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22).*_

One of the most profound principles in the Word of God that guarantees continuous increase in finances is the principle of giving. Not too many people are as excited to give, as they’re to receive, meanwhile the promised blessing isn’t to the receiver but to the giver. Jesus said, _*“…It is more blessed to give than to receive”*_ (Acts 20:35).

2 Corinthians 9:8 gives us clear insight about the blessedness of the giver. It says, _*“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]”*_ (AMPC). The previous verse says, _*“…God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving].*_

Though the foregoing verses are about finances, Jesus in His sermon on the Mount was more general: _*“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”*_ (Luke 6:38). He said “Give!” Whatever good thing you desire in your life, sow the seed of it into the lives of others and it’ll be multiplied in your own life. Remember His words: _*“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them…”*_ (Matthew 7:12).

Another thing your giving does is that it helps to increase the fruits of your righteousness: _*“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness”*_ (2 Corinthians 9:10). Your giving to the Lord connects you and everything that concerns you with blessings that aren’t only for today, but for tomorrow and for all time.

Each time you have the opportunity to give, be excited. Our lives as Christians should depict the character of our heavenly Father, who gave His precious Son, Jesus, for our salvation (John 3:16).

*CONFESSION*

*Thank you precious Father, for blessing me in all things, and making me a blessing to my world. I declare that I’m mightily blessed today as I give, for you’ve said in your Word, it’s more blessed to give, than to receive. Hallelujah!*

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 11TH DECEMBER.
I affirm that I am anointed by the Spirit of God for such a time as this. I am imbued with divine wisdom to bless and impact my world. As the seed of Abraham, my mind is seasoned with supernatural ideas, thoughts, and visions. I am refreshed, renewed, and well positioned for the glorious life in Christ. Hallelujah! The spirit of God has moved me into the realms of divine prosperity, increase, promotion, and success. I am seated together with Christ in the heavenly—a place of authority, victory, and safety—far removed from all earthly distractions. Hallelujah! I am an heir of God; therefore, He has given unto me the hidden treasures of the earth. My gates remain open at all times; they will not be shut during the day or at night, so that the wealth of nations may be delivered, with their kings leading the way. In place of brass, God has given me gold; for iron, He has given me silver, and for ordinary stones, He has given me precious stones. Blessed to God!

Thousands of Muslims in Asia protest against Trump’s Jerusalem plan
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Thousands of protesters in Muslim-majority Indonesia and Malaysia joined rallies on Friday to condemn Washington’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, as authorities tightened security outside U.S. embassies.

Leaders in both Asian countries have joined a global chorus of voices condemning U.S. President Donald Trump’s move.

Several thousand protesters, some shouting anti-U.S. slogans and burning an effigy of Trump, gathered in front of the American embassy in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

In Indonesia, hundreds of protesters mostly clad in white were arriving outside the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, capital of the world’s biggest Muslim-majority country.

Some wore checkered scarves and waved Palestinian flags, while others shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest).

“We have prepared personnel and patrols to secure the U.S. embassy. We are expecting between 500 and 1,000 demonstrators,” said Jakarta police spokesman Argo Yuwono.

The U.S. embassy in Jakarta advised its citizens to avoid areas where there were demonstrations and said its consulate in Indonesia’s second-biggest city Surabaya had suspended public services on Friday.

Indonesia has been a long-running supporter of the two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and there have been public demonstrations in support of Palestine in recent years.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Thursday urged the United States to reconsider its decision and instructed his foreign minister to summon the U.S. ambassador for an explanation.

In Malaysia, leaders from the ruling party United Malay National Organisation and the popular right wing Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, led the rally and representatives of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas are expected to join.

Protests are also expected in South Asia.

Pakistan’s major Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami has announced rallies in all major cities after Friday prayers.

President Trump said on Wednesday that the United States would move its embassy to Jerusalem in the coming years.

Protests have already broken out in the West Bank and the Gaza strip as the Islamist group Hamas urged Palestinians to launch a fresh uprising against Israel.

The status of Jerusalem is one of the thorniest barriers to a lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.

Its eastern sector was captured by Israel in a 1967 war and annexed in a move not recognised internationally. Palestinians claim East Jerusalem for the capital of an independent state they seek.

Real Madrid president, Perez speaks on plans to sign Neymar, Mbappe

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has hinted that the La Liga giants could sign Paris Saint-Germain forwards, Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, in future.

[Image: Neymar-Mbappe-vs-Strasbourg-Dec2017.jpg]

Both players are the most expensive footballers in the world, but that has not stopped Perez from keeping an eye on them.

“Mbappé is 18 years old, let’s leave him to develop and see how far he can go,” he told El Partidazo de COPE.

“We have the best players. Recruit Neymar and wait for Mbappé to develop? That’s not a bad idea!”

This comes in the week when Madrid’s star man, Cristiano Ronaldo, took home his fifth Ballon D’Or prize.

Ronaldo, whilst continuing to score at a prolific rate, has shown signs of decline over the last few seasons.

Okorocha: "Tinubu Crying More Than The Bereaved; Atiku’s Departure Sad For AP
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2017, 09:31 PM - No Replies

The Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar resigning from the ruling All Progressives Congress was not a good development for the party.
Atiku recently defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election.
The Imo State Governor spoke with journalists after receiving an honorary doctorate degree at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State on Saturday.
He however, described Abubakar as a heavyweight politician.
He said, “I have taken a holistic view of our party, it (Atiku’s exit ) is not the best because no matter how anybody thinks, Atiku carries some political weight . His leaving our party is not the best.
Okorocha, however, said that since the former Vice President had decided to move on politically by going to another political party, the APC would make amend and his (Atiku) place will be filled up accordingly.
Reacting to Tinubu’s comment on automatic ticket for Buhari, Okorocha maintained that he would support Buhari for a second term.
Okorocha said, “The (Tinubu’s) statement came to me as a surprise, come to think of it, I never referred to him. I refer to the governors of Nigeria including the PDP governors and I said only one or two of them have not joined yet.
“Since I made the statement, no governor has said something contrary to what I said. I am surprised that Asiwaju will now be speaking for the governors. He looks like somebody crying more than the bereaved.
“I did not see reason for the statement actually. But he commands my respect and I don’t want to join issue with the National Leader of my party.
“What I mentioned was for the governors and secondly what I said is support.
“The word I use is support that does not mean there will not be primary.
“Governors can only contribute only 37 votes, we still have over 5 ,000 votes up there . What I was talking about was governors.
“I was not talking about other party members . Governors alone do not determine the flagbearer of a party.
“If you recall, I said but for Buhari, I would have run for presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“But I found in him a man credible and he still has four years term to do.
“I will allow him to complete and I will go back to my political trenches because I would still run for presidency anyhow.
“I consider myself young enough to wait until 2023 and I don’t hide my stand on any issue. But for now , my support goes to President Muhammadu Buhari.”

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave the country tomorrow to join 50 other world leaders in the One Planet Summit in Paris, France.
The summit, is jointly organised by the United Nations, the World Bank Group, and the French Government in partnership with non-governmental organisations concerned about reversing the negative effects of climate change.
The summit holds at the eco-friendly La Seine Musicale, situated on the picturesque Seguin Island in western Paris.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina on Sunday.
He explained that the main focus of the summit, was “Climate Change Financing.”
The statement further stated that while recognising that all countries are affected by the effects of climate change under “One Planet,” some more vulnerable, the summit seeks for tangible collective action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Before heading for the Summit venue, President Buhari will attend a lunch hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France for Heads of State and Governments at the Elysee Palace.
“President Buhari and other world leaders and participants will make presentations under four sub-themes namely: Scaling-up Finance for Climate Action; Greening Finance for Sustainable Business; Accelerating Local and Regional Climate Action; and Strengthening Policies for Ecological and Inclusive Transition,” Adesina explained.
While signing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the sidelines of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, 2016, the Nigerian leader had said it, “demonstrated Nigeria’s commitment to global efforts to reverse the effects of the negative trend.”
He added that the participation of Nigeria’s delegation at the “One Planet Summit” will reinforce the country’s commitment to realising the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
Buhari will depart for Paris on Monday in company of the governors of Adamawa, Kano and Ondo States, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Environment.
He will return to Abuja on Thursday.

We’ll Expose Boko Haram Collaborators —Army

The Nigerian Army on Saturday vowed to expose those he described as political collaborators of Boko Haram terrorists, just as it denied an online publication that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai was ambushed and wounded by Boko Haram.
In a statement released by Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, the military said Buratai was not involved in any ambush on his way to pay courtesy visit on troops, adding that “there was no recent ambush against any of our troops anywhere, let alone the North-East.”
The army said it was closing in on the collaborators of the sect, adding that “we are closing in on the political Boko Haram terrorists and their collaborators. They will soon be exposed and the law will take its full course.”
The army noted that the troops were currently dealing decisive blows on the Boko Haram terrorists in the Lake Chad area, insisting that over 60 of the terrorists had either been captured or neutralised in the last three days. It insisted that there was no recent ambush against
any of its troops anywhere and urged the public to disregard the ambush story, pointing out that the Chief of Army Staff, who has been conducting his official duties, is hale and hearty.
The statement read:”No amount of mischief or campaign of calumny under any guise will distract Buratai from his determined efforst of leading a responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.’’
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force Air War College (NAFAWC) has graduated its second set of participants of Air War Course.
The Air War Course 2/2017 consisted of 19 senior military officers out of whom 16 were from the NAF, one from the Nigerian Army (NA) and 2 from the Nigerian Navy (NN).

Pension Fraud: EFCC Recovers N2.8b Cash; Magu Opens Up On Assets
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2017, 04:58 PM - No Replies

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC’S), Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu confirmed yesterday that over N2.8billion was recovered from suspected pension thieves in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and Police Pension Office.
The cash component excludes many choice assets placed either under permanent or interim forfeiture by courts.
Besides, he insisted that none of the assets seized by the EFCC was re-looted by the operatives of the commission under any guise.
Magu, in a bare it all fact-sheet he made available to the National Assembly to clear the air on the controversy on the assets seized from pension fraud suspects challenged the brains behind the rumour of re-looting to go “the whole hog to name the “ghost” officials that engaged in this “sharing” of pension booty, and the place and time the “sharing” took place.”
He insisted that former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina remains wanted by the anti-graft agency.
But he said Maina’s $2million Abuja mansion and six others have been placed under interim forfeiture.
Details of Maina’s alleged assets are contained in the document.
Magu said there was no cause for alarm because all seized assets were well-documented.
He said what was playing out was a “diversionary gambit intended to befuddle ongoing inquiry over the Maina reinstatement saga by smearing anyone or agency that is capable of unmasking the real pension thieves.”
Magu said: “The suspects investigated in the Police Pension fraud from whom assets were seized, include: Atiku Kigo, Esai Dangabar, Ahmed Inuwa Wada, Veronica Oyegbula, Uzuoma Cyril Attang, Sani Habila Zira, John Yusuf and their associated companies and persons.
“In the pension office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, those from whom properties were recovered are Shaibu Teidi, Phina Chidi, Abdul Mohammed, Emmanuel Olanipekun, Aliyu Bello and their associated companies and persons.
“The assets seized from these suspects are in two categories. There are assets that are under interim forfeiture which means that they are temporally seized pending the determination of the substantive cases in court.
“Such assets cannot be dissipated because the cases are pending in court. The reality is, most of the assets recovered from pension fraud suspects belong in this category.
“The cash element of the recoveries is also carefully documented. The total funds recovered stand at N2, 886,743,016.71; $3,017,556.73; and €3,385.40.
“The sum of N16, 185,131,847.09 which was recovered from an illegal account in an old generation bank has since been remitted to the office of the Head of Service, while N369, 558,640.99 represents the cash component of John Yusuf’s final forfeiture. There is no opacity regarding the Commission’s handling of the assets recovered from suspects of pension fraud. The fact speaks for itself.”
On the properties confiscated from suspected pension thieves, Magu said they are being managed in a transparent arrangement put in place by the Assets Forfeiture Department of the Commission.
He said Etudo & Co. Estate Surveyors & Valuers, a reputable estate management firm, was engaged to manage the assets, with the exception of assets recovered from Essai Dangabar, which are being managed by Court Registrar based on Court Order.”
He added: “All but one of the assets recovered from suspects in the pension office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is under interim forfeiture.
“The exception is Brifina Hotel, which was recovered from Shaibu Teidi. He denied ownership of the property and the court ordered its final forfeiture to the Federal Government. The property has since been handed over to government and is now being used as office by some agencies of government including the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
“It is only assets recovered from John Yusuf, who was convicted under a plea bargain arrangement for fraud in the Police Pension office that have been permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. These assets are 32 units in number.
“The assets, both those under interim forfeiture and the few under final forfeiture, are being managed in a transparent arrangement put in place by the Assets Forfeiture Department of the Commission.
Etudo & Co. Estate Surveyors & Valuers, a reputable estate management firm, was engaged to manage the assets, with the exception of assets recovered from Essai Dangabar, which are being managed by Court Registrar based on Court Order.
“The proceeds of rent on the properties that had successfully been let out by the firm are fully documented and available in the recovery account of the Commission.”
Magu said the assets recently seized from Maina were not yet captured in the Interim/Final forfeiture analysis by the anti-graft agency.
He also gave the details of investigation on Maina and what EFCC detectives uncovered.
He insisted that there is still a subsisting warrant of arrest against Maina.
He said: “Recoveries not captured in the interim/final forfeiture analysis, include those that were recently recovered from Maina in Abuja and Kaduna.
“They include seven properties in Kaduna. The properties are a two- storey commercial building located on Ibrahim Taiwo Road, a bungalow located on Katuru Road, and four separate properties located on Kano Road in Kawo New Extension, Kaduna. The other property which is still under construction is a set of four one-storey block of flats located at No. 5, Sokoto Road adjacent to the Zamfara State Governor’s Lodge, Kaduna. Other properties linked to Maina include No. 12, 11th Road, Kado Estate, Abuja; No. A5 Omenai H.O (B Close) Kado Estate; No. 9, Eneli TCM Close, (A Close) Kado Estate; No. 8, Kolo S Close (A Close) Kado Estate; Luxury apartments (eight blocks of flats; six units of three bedrooms; two units of two bedrooms) located at Plot 965, Cadastral C2, Life Camp, Abuja and a sprawling edifice located at No. 10 Hamisu Musa Road, Jabi, Abuja.
“Maina had a total inflow of over N2.7 billion between 2010 and 2013, with 95 per cent of the deposits being in cash. It was discovered that Faizal Abdullahi’s Account (his son), had a turnover of over N1.5 billion in less than a year.
“It should also be noted that Maina operated these accounts through telephone and email messages.
Most of the funds were converted to foreign currencies through Bureau De Change and delivered to Maina in cash.
“Part of the funds was used to purchase properties, including the house at No. 10 Hamisu Musa Road, Jabi which he bought for $2 million in cash. Maina has failed to respond to invitations by the EFCC and he has been put on the Interpol Red Notice.
Presently, there is a subsisting warrant of arrest against Maina.”
Magu expressed regrets that the public was misinformed by some lawmakers and some unnamed agents of Maina on the status of assets recovered from suspects in pension fraud cases investigated by the EFCC.
“The EFCC views with grave concern, the manner in which the allegation, made by unnamed person(s) in close-door session before the committee, was publicly orchestrated at the Senate plenary without the commission having the opportunity to respond. The omission has tragically led to misinformation regarding the status of recovered pension assets. This is unwarranted.
“It should be stated that there had been no controversy regarding the status of assets recovered from suspects in pension fraud cases investigated by the commission.
“These assets are well documented, and their current status has been communicated to the relevant organs of government.
“Had the Senate exercised restraint and sought information on the status of the assets, it would certainly have been obliged, and the nation spared the ordeal of the abominable frenzy over pension assets that were supposedly “shared” by unnamed “officials of the EFCC”.
“The purveyors of the salacious tale should have gone the whole hog to name the “ghost” officials that engaged in this “sharing” of pension booty, and the place and time the “sharing” took place.
“They also did not list the properties that were supposedly recovered by Adbulrasheed Maina and handed over to the EFCC. They equally failed to indicate when the properties were handed over to the EFCC by Maina.
“The failure to provide this information is clear indication that what is playing out is diversionary gambit intended to befuddle ongoing inquiry over the Maina reinstatement saga by smearing anyone or agency that is capable of unmasking the real pension thieves.”
“The EFCC has no record of any collaboration between it and the Maina–led Pension Reform Task Team in the investigation of pension fraud.
“The only link between the EFCC and Maina was the participation of a few staff of the Commission in biometric verification exercise by the Maina Task Team. The leader of the EFCC team at the time was Col. I.D. Sule (retd.), a contract staff who was head of the Commission’s Servicom Unit.
“The verification exercise was not a criminal investigation and no asset was recovered in the process.
“It follows that if the EFCC did not receive any assets from Maina, its officials could not have shared what never existed? Again, those who claim that there was “sharing” of assets are at liberty to state which assets were “shared”, when the “sharing” took place, who supervised the “sharing”, and who got what.
“As far as the Commission is concerned, all the assets recovered from pension fraud suspects, currently at the disposal of the EFCC, are products of its independent investigation.

PDP Looters Funded Buhari’s 2015 Campaign– Senators, Reps
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2017, 01:18 PM - No Replies

Peoples Democratic Party members at the National Assembly have hit back at President Muhammadu Buhari over his comment that looters would not return to power in 2019 .
The President, in a veiled reference to the PDP, was quoted to have made the statement on Thursday , at an interactive session with community leaders and stakeholders in Kano .
He had said , “Those who ruled Nigeria without vision and looted the nation ’ s treasury are the same people boasting that they will displace the APC government and return to office .
“ We will wait and see , if they think Nigerians are ignorant . They have the guts to declare their intention to reclaim office . ”
But the PDP caucus in the House of Representatives , on Saturday , stated that Buhari was a major beneficiary of funds allegedly looted by PDP leaders .
The Deputy Minority Whip of the House , Mrs. Binta Bello , who spoke for the caucus , summed up the views of the PDP, saying that Buhari should rather apologise to Nigerians “ for being unable to fulfil his campaign promises ”, instead of attacking the PDP .
Bello , in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, recalled that in all his previous outings before 2015 , Buhari was unable to win the Presidency because he never had a robust campaign .
She said , “He (Buhari ) has the right to attack us and we have the right to criticise him too by telling him the truth. That is the beauty of democracy .
“ The people he now calls looters were the same people who funded his campaign in 2015 .
“ His campaign in 2015 was different from his campaign in previous years. In 2015 , he had all the money to spend . The looters , who left the PDP , gave him the money . Why didn ’ t he reject it or tell Nigerians how he raised the campaign money ?
“ Let’ s face the facts , the President has failed in delivering his campaign promises. Where is the 2017 budget ? What can he boast to have achieved in terms of implementing the budget ?
“ They can see that he is in power and yet there is nothing to celebrate in terms of achievement . PDP has achievements it can point to . ”
At the senate , members of the PDP caucus, including principal officers of the chamber, said the ruling APC was now made up of those Buhari referred to as looters .
They further said the ex - PDP members in the APC had continued the alleged looting in the current administration .
In his remarks, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Imo - East) , described Buhari ’ s comment as far from the truth.
He said , “How can he say our party is a party of looters ? What is happening in APC now ? Are they not looting ? I don’ t agree with him . ”
Also , Senator Mathew Urhoghide disagreed with Buhari . “ I don’ t agree with the President because 80 per cent of the looters in the then PDP government are now with the President in APC and are still looting and others are waiting to loot, ” he said .
The Minority Whip, Senator Phillip Aduda (FCT), said victory at the 2019 elections was “in the hands of God ” and not as the President boasted.
The Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Abiodun Olujimi (Ekiti-South ), also dismissed Buhari ’ s claim as false .
She said , “ Is it not PDP that has populated APC ? He must be talking about his own party ; he is talking about APC that is populated by PDP people who ran away to get succour . ”
Also , Senator Obinna Ogba (Ebonyi - Central), said the alleged corruption under the current administration is the reason why “ APC is losing everywhere now . ”

Bishop David Abioye dishes out Shiloh 2017 statistics confirmIng Nigerian Churches as major pilgrimage centers and gospel tourism as biggest source of tourism in Nigeria as Winners Chapel celebrates Tanzanian Independence Day.

By Leke Beecroft

It has been asserted by the Nigerian Tourism Development Commission that the biggest form of tourism in Nigeria is as a result of Church programs every end of year in Nigeria bringing social and economic benefits to Nigeria as a nation. Some of the major events that have led to this mass movement of people into the country are The Experience, a Christian concert, Holy Ghost Congress, the largest gathering of humans in Africa, Shiloh, Deeper Life Bible Retreat as well as many other ministries all over Nigeria.

Here are the mind boggling figures from Shiloh 2017, a program held by Living Faith Church aka Winners’ Chapel as presented by the First Vice President, Bishop David Abioye:

54 Nations in total were at Shiloh 2017.
Among them were delegates from Yemen, Ukraine, UAE, Costa Rica, US, UK, Australia and many others while 150 nations were connected online.

The highest number of delegates came from
Ghana with 950 delegates.
Benin Republic-767
Togo-354
United Kingdom-295
Cameroon-252
Côte d’Ivoire-247
USA-206
Kenya-161 among others.

In the 5000+ branches in Nigeria alone, there were a minimum of 1 million people gathered worshipping online while in Lagos and environs alone, there were over 110 viewing centers with over 100,000 people connected and that apart from Canaanland with well over 250,000 present.

Also, Tens of Thousands were also gathered in over 1000 branches around the world with millions gathered around their personal computers exceeding the 7 million on the same platform in 2016.

Also, Tanzania holds her 56th independence anniversary today and it was celebrated with prayers as members of the Tanzanian Church stood up dancing and rejoicing as shown on the screen as prayers were made for the nation previously led by the late great nationalist, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, from all over the world.

Atiku Criticizes APC At PDP Convention: "APC Promised 3m Jobs But Lost 3m Job
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2017, 12:18 PM - No Replies

Former vice-president Atiku Abubakar says the All Progressives Congress (APC) promised to fight corruption but instead has delivered a war on the opposition.
Atiku said this on Saturday at the PDP’s national elective convention at Eagle square Abuja.
The former vice-president said under current APC administration, the country is not working and the people are jobless.
He said the PDP has a lot to be proud of as in the last 16 years, Nigeria prospered and was recognised as the largest economy in Africa.
“Under the APC Nigeria is not working, under the APC our people are not working. Let us consider what the APC has achieved versus what they promised in the last election. The APC promised us N3 million new jobs a year, in government the APC has lost N3 million jobs a year,” Atiku said.
“The APC promised us unity, under APC Nigeria is more divided and acrimonious since the civil war. The APC promised us restructuring, in office the APC denied restructuring. The APC promised war on corruption but all they have delivered is a war on the opposition.
“Comparing the APC in government and the record of the PDP in government, we in the PDP achieved a 10-year expectancy of our people. We the PDP helped Nigeria become the largest in Africa. As members of the PDP we all have a lot to be proud of. in the 16 years that we governed we made Nigeria prosperous. We made mistakes, we are human beings but we put our nation first.
“We now have an APC government which continues to blame the previous governments rather than solving the problems. The PDP is the party that will restructure Nigeria into a modern nation with working institutions.”

Withdraw Israeli Security Training Nigerian Military – MURIC Tells Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 12-10-2017, 12:16 PM - No Replies

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to withdraw the Israeli’s security company training Nigerians troops.
MURIC while joining other groups and personalities to condemn recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the United States of America President, Mr. Donald Trump noted that “Trumps latest pronouncement has merely poured salt on open wounds and confirmed the world’s suspicion that he does not want peace in the Middle East or elsewhere for that matter except in his personal bedroom.”
In a statement signed by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC maintained that “All the promises made to Palestinians have always ended unfulfilled and the actions of the super powers tend to deflate hopes and aspirations. The world seems unprepared for peace as justice has become a very scarce commodity.”
Akintola in the statement said “Israel is being built on the blood of thousands of innocent Palestinians, including women and children. How can we be talking of peace where there is no justice? The Zionist state has carried out more than nineteen (19) massacres since its controversial and forceful establishment in 1948. Yet a world super power that prides itself in the principles of democracy, liberty and rule of law is the same country giving Israel all the backing it needs.
“Israel’s atrocities are uncountable. The first was the Yehida Massacre on 13th December 1947 where more than 15 unarmed Arab civilians were brutally killed. Khisas massacre which occurred on 18th December, 1947 claimed the lives of 10 Arab civilians while Sharafat Massacre of 7th February 1951 also claimed 10 lives, just to mention a few. But the worst massacre of Palestinians in history was that of Deir Yassin where 250 unarmed Palestinians were killed. 25 pregnant women were bayoneted alive in the stomach thereby brutally killing both the mothers and their unborn children. 52 children were maimed.
“Israel and its leaders have been unrepentant and belligerent even in recent times. We recall the unprovoked destruction of the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osilak in June 1981, Netanyahu’s desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the constant defilement of same by Israeli settlers. Palestinian homes are bulldozed at will while Israeli soldiers continue to kill vulnerable and unarmed women and children unchallenged.
“Trumps latest pronouncement has merely poured salt on open wounds and confirmed the world’s suspicion that he does not want peace in the Middle East or elsewhere for that matter except in his personal bedroom.
“All the promises made to Palestinians have always ended unfulfilled and the actions of the super powers tend to deflate hopes and aspirations. The world seems unprepared for peace as justice has become a very scarce commodity.
Akintola then urged Federal Government of Nigeria to withdraw the Israeli’s security company training Nigerians troops.
“MURIC appeals to the Federal Government to withdraw the Israeli security company training Nigerian troops on the protection of our waterways immediately.
“Those who bayonet pregnant women and shoot young children can only transfer a mentality of brutality to our own soldiers if they are allowed to train them. You can only give what you have. What Israeli soldiers have is tyranny and barbarism. In addition, both the Federal and state governments should avoid entering into any bilateral agreement with Israel until the Zionist state stops its infringements on Allah-given fundamental human rights of the Palestinians.
“We charge individual Nigerian Muslims and Islamic organisations to boycott all American programmes scheduled to take place in Nigeria in protest against Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
“Nonetheless, we urge Muslims to eschew any feeling of bitterness against American citizens. Trump must be recognized for what he is: an uncommon American leader whose action should not be used to judge the average American official. Neither should we judge the average American citizen by the actions of the American government as represented by Trump.
“We assure all Western citizens in the country of the good conduct of Muslims towards them. Aggression is not in MURIC’s character. Neither do we encourage its transfer. No foreigner should therefore be made to taste Trump’s pudding”.

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DECEMBER PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*SET YOUR ATTENTION AND AFFECTION ON HIM .*

Sunday, December 10th .
Pastor Chris

_*LOOKING UNTO JESUS the author and finisher of our faith… (Hebrews 12:2).*_

Acts 3 tells a remarkable story of how a few weeks after the ascension of Jesus, Peter and John were going into the temple at the hour of prayer. They met a man who was lame from his mother’s womb, and laid at the gate of the temple to ask alms of those entering the temple. The Bible says, _*“…Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, LOOK ON US”*_ (Acts 3:4). Peter, in other words, was saying, “Give us your attention!”

The crippled man gave them his attention expecting to receive alms but Peter didn’t have any money on him at the time, and said: _*“...Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he*_ (Peter) _*took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God”*_ (Acts 3:6-8).

Anyone who gives the Lord or His Word attention will always have a miracle. Proverbs 23:26 says, _*“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”*_ God desires to have your attention. He knows if He has your attention, He can lead and guide you in the destiny He’s planned for you. He knows what’s best for you, and what your life should be. There’s therefore nothing for you to worry over, but to live confidently and joyfully every day, in His Word.

Philippians 4:6 says, _*“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”*_ Refuse to allow anything distract or take your focus away from the Lord and His eternal Word. Set your attention and affection on Him and on the things He cares about. Be a soul winner. Live for Him.

All that you are, and all that you have, are in Him. He’s your reason for being. Trust Him with your life and He’ll order your steps and synchronize you with His perfect will. Meditate on His grace and love, and He’ll cause you to ride above the adversities of life.

*PRAYER*

*Blessed Father, how great thou art! You’re gracious and kind, and in you I’ve found eternal joy and peace. I live for you alone, and I glorify you, for you’re God, and your greatness is unfathomable. I rejoice that I belong to you, to fulfil all the good pleasure of your goodness, and produce works of righteousness, to your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Proverbs 4:20-22* My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. *||*

*||* *Colossians 3:1-3* If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. *||*

"I Slept With 18 Men In One Day" - 19-Year-Old Libyan Returnee
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 12-09-2017, 06:05 PM - Replies (4)

As Nigerian citizens stranded in Libya keep returning to the state in their hundreds, a 19-year-old girl among them who did not want her name mentioned, has revealed that attempting to go to Europe through Libya is the worst kind of experience anyone could have.
In an exclusive interview with Saturday Telegraph in Benin the young girl from Edo State said the only regret she had is not making it to Europe, adding that she was persuaded by her friend to make the perilous trip, and that her friend died in the process.
“I’m happy coming back safely from Libya. But please I do not want to disclose my name. It was a very bitter experience that I do not want to talk about, I just thank God that I’m back to my country safely, she said. “It is not as easy as you may imagine; so many Africans are dying in Libya in the name of travelling abroad for greener pasture.
I left Nigeria in early 2017 with the help of one lady who claim to have been sponsoring people abroad. I don’t also want to reveal her name, but she is currently in one country in Europe. I cannot also say how long she has been in the business. She told me she was taking us to Germany, but we ended up in Libya. I spent so much.
I do not really like recalling the whole trauma, I’m just happy that I came back home to meet my family and friends. “I was learning a trade before I embarked on this journey through the persuasion of my female friend.
When we left Benin in March this year, I did not tell my parents, I only told one of my brothers that I would be travelling to Lagos with my friend to see one lady who promised to assist me to get some money to start my business when I’m through learning the trade. “On getting to Lagos, I met a lot of girls from Edo, Delta and Rivers states.
We stayed in Lagos for three days before taking off to Kano and from there we commenced the journey to Libya. It was a bitter experience; I will not advise anybody I know to engage in such a hazardous trip. It is a journey of the survival of the fittest; on the way a lot of strange things happened which everybody knows about. “In Libya we were treated like slaves, taken to an unknown place where our sufferings continue.
The lady that took us there handed us over to some group of very wicked human beings; she kept telling us that we would soon cross over to Italy. The worst thing that happened to me was the day I slept with 18 men in a single night, it was an experience I can never forget in life.
In fact, Arabs are the most evil set of human beings on earth. After they used me, I was paid N15, 000 and my so: called sponsor took N10, 000 from it and gave me N5, 000. They gave me one type of drug before we started the business. You cannot cry, you cannot raise the alarm when you are locked up in a dark room. I thank God for my life, I never thought that I would live to see December.
“So many people are still there with no hope of leaving, and some of them are taken to unknown destinations. I want to thank our state government for coming to our rescue. Unfortunately, the girl I travelled with died. Nobody is talking about her.
Each time I remember her, I cry. I will not embark on such a journey again. I saw hell in the hands of the Arabs.” Another returnee who identified herself simply as Joy who is from Edo North, but was born in Benin City, also narrated her tale to Saturday Telegraph. “I left Nigeria around April this year with the intention of going to Europe.
It is a pity that I ended my journey in a Libyan refugee camp. It is not an experience to talk about at all. I finished my secondary school some years earlier but because my parents are very poor, I decided to travel to Europe. I wanted to help my parents out of poverty, but my dream of going to Europe was aborted on the way.
Now that I’m back home, I will continue to plan. I really want to travel to Europe. I’m the first child of my family and the truth is this country has nothing to offer us.
Those that have various degrees are on the streets, no jobs for them. The attempt to travel to foreign land is as a result of bad leadership. Over there, they accused us of so many things; they said that our country is very rich but that our leaders are busy carting away our money to other countries.
They wanted to know why we were in their country trying to take the little they have. They do not like to set their eyes on Nigerians at all.” A father of five, Sylvester Agho, who also just came back from Libya said it was a journey of hell.
“I just want to thank God that I saw my country at last and I have regained freedom from those wicked people over there. It is not something to be remembered; now that I’m back to my fatherland, I will join the fight against human trafficking in this country,” Agho, also from Edo State, said. “I am happy because there is no place like home.
When you are in Nigeria, you have the freedom to move about without molestation but the moment you step out of Nigeria, you have lost your freedom.
There is a great discrimination in Libya but in Nigeria, there is nothing like such. You can walk freely.” Agho who is among the 531 Edo indigenes deported from Libya to the state so far, said he would advise those still thinking of leaving the country to have a rethink and look for something meaningful to do to earn a better livelihood rather than endangering their lives in a foreign land.
He added: “I left this country on June 15 this year and I am back now which means that I spent five months and some weeks there but throughout that period, I was in hell. There was nothing good over there. And to those that are still going to Libya or nursing the ambition, my advice to them is for forget it.
There is nothing on earth that will make me to travel by land to Europe ever again.” Another returnee, Destiny Gabriel, recounts his story: “When I came back to Nigeria I was happy. I had joy, freedom because we lived in a place where there was no freedom. They do not have respect for human beings at all.
“Coming home, we were expecting to get something to start up our lives again because a lot of us spent our last money, sold our properties to leave this country in the hope of making a better life. If Nigeria is good and our government planned well for us, that urge to travel would not be there.
“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the federal and state governments to provide a means of livelihood for the returnees to prevent them from taking to crime.” For Miss Esosa Ediae, the joy of returning home is so much that all she wants to do is thank God for rescuing her.
“I don’t want to say anything other than to thank God for my life and safe return to Nigeria. I was doing very well with my saloon business before a friend persuaded me to join the race to Libya in chase of a good life which never came. I sold my shop to embark on this trip, but all the same I’m very happy that I came back to my land, Edo State. “The federal and state governments should do something. They should not sleep.
They should not allow the youth to enter the streets. They should do something that will encourage us to know that our governments are really there for us. “They should give us money. We are in December now and there is nothing we will do to take care of our families. How are we going to make money to take care of our families this December? We need money to buy clothes for ourselves, to buy clothes for our families, to buy food at home.
Some of us do not even have money to rent an apartment. “I appreciate the governor (Godwin Obaseki) who said we should stay in this hotel (Motel Benin Plaza) for three days but after three days, what then happens to us? Some of us do not even have a place to stay after the expiration of the three days; what happen to us afterwards? Where do we go from here?
That is the question I am asking the governor?” Abieyuwa Igue who was two months pregnant before she was convinced by her ‘madam’ to make the trip across the desert also recalls her near escape. “My name is Miss Abieyuwa Igue, I’m from Edo State. I left Nigeria in 2016. I was learning a trade before I was persuaded by my madam to travel out of Nigeria for a better life.
My experience there is nothing to write home about, but my greatest happiness is that I came back to Nigeria alive. I have a sister who travelled to Spain, she succeeded in her trip.
I wanted to join her to make my parents happy and live a more comfortable life, but I ended up in the hands of those wicked Arabs. “It is a very pathetic story to tell. Before I left Edo State, I never knew that I was carrying a two-month pregnancy, I did not tell my boyfriend that I was pregnant, I did not even know until I got to Libya.
In fact, I will say that God was with me all the time I stayed in Libya. In my presence they took our girls away for rituals, rape, and all kinds of evil acts; they never touched me even though they sleep with our girls at will, not minding whether you are pregnant or not. “My plan was to go to Europe, but the moment my ‘pusher’ discovered that I was pregnant, she abandoned me in Tripoli.
I cannot thank God enough for His mercies upon me. Can you believe that I gave birth to my daughter in prison without any medical care? I was supposed to cross to Italy two days before my delivery, in fact it is God that did it for me not man. “For me, I have no regrets. The only regrets I have is the money that my poor mother wasted.
I want to appeal to Nigerian government to quickly help other Nigerian citizens who are in different prisons in Libya. Some of them are in the underground cell, and the moment you enter into that cell, count yourself finished. So many of our young boys have died in that cell. I want to commend Edo State governor for the much he has done for us. We are sorry for the embarrassment.”

2019 Election: I’m Shocked That PDP Wants To Come Back To Power – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-09-2017, 05:51 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is surprised that in spite of the atrocities committed by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, it is still making efforts to come back to power in 2019.

Speaking at an interactive session with community leaders to mark the president’s 2-day working visit to Kano on Thursday, Mr Buhari said Nigerians would never forget PDP’s 16 years of misgovernment.

According to Mr Buhari, corruption thrived during the administration of PDP, lamenting that the Nigerian treasury was rendered empty during the party’s reign.
He added that the party performed woefully on Security and economy.

He said the change agenda of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was to fight Boko Haram insurgency, corruption and revamp the economy, adding that his government was recording successes, but fighting corruption was the most difficult among the three agenda.

Mr Buhari added that Nigerians must understand the difference between democratic and military administration, adding that since his military regime, corruption was fighting back, as he himself ended in jail for about 3 years.

When I was a military head-of-State, I arrested and jailed some politicians on alleged corruption. Only two of them, late Bilyaminu Usman, former state minister, and Mallam Adamu Ciroma were found clean. But since that time, corruption was fighting back, as I myself was not jailed for more than two years.

This is a country where we found a judge, hiding foreign and domestic currencies running into millions, and 4 diplomatic passports in his house. This is the man that sends people to 20 years in jail for committing corruption, now he is found wanting.

Mr Buhari lamented.

He also recalled that from 1999 to 2014, Nigeria produced 2.1 million Barrel of crude oil per day at the rate of at least $100, lamenting that the money were nowhere to be found under the opposition PDP.

Unfortunately, when we came on board, the price of oil crashed to $28. From $28, it rose to $37 up to $40. I went to the Central Bank of Nigeria, because everywhere in the world knew what Nigeria got at that time. I then asked, what about what has been saved for the country, I was told at the CBN that nothing was left in the treasury but liabilities.

I couldn’t believe it because it is lie. They said the money was used in food and fuel importation, while we produce our own food in the southeast, southwest, northeast and Northwest. Most of the peoples in these regions produce their own food because they are not government workers, as such, they can’t buy foreign food. This is a lie.

When we investigated how the fuel was imported, sadly, we found that more than half of the money were going in bogus deals between the importers and the buyers in connivance with the CBN officials. They don’t care about the plight of the remaining Nigerians,

he emphasized.

“I entered the contest on the micro-zoning principle, which has been thrashed by little men who have compromised. It appears the PDP is bent on self-destruction.
I can’t be part of this. The chairmanship position has been sold to the highest bidder,” George stated while a briefing newsmen at his campaign office in Abuja.
“I entered the race due to the micro zoning arrangement. This micro zoning has been trashed, dumped on the dust bin for personal reason. It appears that PDP is bent on self destruction. It has lost its soul.
“I cannot be part of this criminal allegation. The PDP is now mangled. “I hereby withdraw from the fraud. As a Yoruba patriot, I will stand for our people.
“Governor Wike must tender an unreserved apology to the Yoruba people for his unguarded utterances against the Yoruba race. I listened to my younger brother and I see it as an insult. I consider it as an insult.
“I Olabode George did not step down for anybody. My measure of experience is too heavy. What I am stepping down for is the process. The issue of micro zoning has been destroyed. Every position is micro zoned. I am withdrawing purely on principle.
You can know the way the party use to bubble and we see it as a brotherly union. “From what happened before I thought we could manage it but it is obvious that they system has been bastardized,” he added.

‘SARS Officials Harrassed Me And Slapped My Manager In Lagos’- Falz
User Avatar Forum: Crime
Posted by: Edoman - 12-09-2017, 01:46 PM - No Replies

Superstar singer and actor, Folarin Falana aka Falz The Bahd Guy, has shared his bitter experience with SARS Officials following the #EndSARS movement launched by private Nigerian citizens.
The singer who had an interview with NET in preparation for his first concert ‘The Falz Experience’, said;
“On this particular day, they spotted us somewhere in Lagos and double-crossed us, they then asked us to come down from our car.
My manager tried to have a conversation with them but before he knew it, they gave him a dirty slap, he was close to tears. They said they would arrest us and take us their station. I wanted to sue them, not as a lawyer, but solely because they violated my human rights, but then, it is really sad that they think because they have guns, they think they are in a position of power and they use these to oppress poor Nigerians.”
He also suggested a solution;
“The entire police force needs a revamp. The problem is that so many of them are not as educated as they should be, so they treat people in a certain way. People are speaking up because things have gone out of hand. These are the men who are supposed to protect us, but they are opening fire on us. They have resulted to targeting young guys. These days, once they see a young man looking flashy, they automatically think you are a yahoo boy”, he concluded

Babangida's Spokesman Reacts To Report He Asked Atiku Not To Run In 2019
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 12-09-2017, 01:41 PM - No Replies

A former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, on Friday declared his support for Atiku Abubakar, as the former vice president intensifies consultations for a presidential run in 2019.
Mr. Babangida, Nigeria’s leader from 1985-1993, said media reports that he advised Mr. Abubakar not to run for election during a closed-door meeting Thursday was ‘laughable’ because it was ‘sponsored’.
“Anybody who has sponsored such report was just being unfair” to Messrs. Babangida and Abubakar, Kassim Afegbua, a spokesperson for the former military leader, told PREMIUM TIMES Friday evening.
Mr. Afegbua said no one knew the outcome of the meeting because it was held behind closed-doors amongst the two leaders.
The comments came a day after the two leaders met at the hilltop residence of Mr. Babangida in Minna, the Niger State capital, around noon Thursday.
Media accounts of the meeting said Mr. Abubakar angrily left his host because he was advised not to run against President Muhammadu Buhari.
The reports further speculated that the unfriendly face Mr. Abubakar allegedly wore indicated that he was rejected by Mr. Babangida.
“The report is very, very untrue,” Mr. Afegbua said. “When I read the report, I was laughing. Because it is far from what they both discussed.”
“Number one, IBB will not discourage anyone from seeking office. IBB will encourage anyone to seek election,” the spokesperson added.
Mr. Afegbua said the relationship between his principal and his host remains cordial, warning reporters to stop playing politics with people’s relationship.
“They had a very useful political discussion. IBB also has a good relationship with Atiku. It’s not good to play politics with the relationship of people.”
Similarly, Paul Ibe, a spokesperson for Mr. Abubakar said since the meeting was held by only the two leaders, it would be difficult for anyone to know the details.
“Except those who were carrying these fake speculations were flying on the wall, there’s no way anyone would have known what happened,” Mr. Ibe said. “The report is a figment of the imagination of people.”
Mr. Ibe said the two leaders have been friends for a long time, and the outcome of their meeting was positive.
“Both leaders have enjoyed a mutual relationship for many years and what I gathered was that the meeting was very, very fruitful,” he added.
On Sunday, Mr. Abubakar returned to the PDP for the third time since 2007 when he left the party after serving eight years on its platform as a vice-president.
The move came a little over a week after he resigned from the All Progressives Congress.
He is expected to slug it out with President Buhari in 2019, if the incumbent’s recent signals of a possible re-election bid take hold.
