Thumbs Down NA Decries Delay in Mace Theft Investigation, 'It may take 10 years.. Police

The National Assembly panel, probing invasion of the Senate yesterday decried delay in completion of police investigation on the matter, over a month after the incident.

The joint committee of Senate and House co-chaired by Senator Bala Ibn Na-Allah (APC, Kebbi) and Rep Betty Apiafi (PDP, Rivers) made the position known, when the commissioner of police in charge of IG monitoring unit, Abu Sani appeared before the panel.

Suspected thugs numbering five had on April 18, this year invaded the Senate and carted away with the Mace, the symbol of authority of the Senate.

Sani had told the committee that the investigation into the matter was inconclusive and assured the panel that they were working to get to the root of the matter.

He said the suspects arrested in connection with the matter have denied their involvement.

“The CCTV that was supposed to capture what happened from outside to inside the chamber was not functional. That would have assisted in puncturing the denial of the suspects,” he said.

He said the internal security of the hallowed chamber that was left in the hands of the Sergeant at arms compounded the matter.

He said the Sergeant at arms (National Assembly) relied on GSM to communicate rather than radio when the thugs struck.

The police commissioner said they were still trying to establish the link between the suspects in their custody and those that carted away with the Mace. He presented an interim report of the police to the panel.

Our correspondent reports that when Rep Apiafi expressed reservation over the delay in the completion of the investigation, Sani said it could take up to 10years. She replied by saying it could even be 30 years.

In his submission, Na’Allah said the police was not adhering to rule of law in their investigation, “Otherwise the suspects would have been charged to court through FIR (First Information Report).”

Why I won’t talk - Omo-Agege

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta) declined to speak when he appeared before the panel.

“I would have loved to take this opportunity to respond to the allegations raised. But I am here to inform you that I have gone to court and parties have been served.

“The action was taken on the May 21, 2018 and all the parties enumerated have been served.”

Ndume denies directing mace bearer

Senator Ali Ndume (APC,Borno) yesterday denied the allegation that he stopped the deputy mace bearer from taking the mace from the table when the thugs struck.

Ndume spoke when he appeared before the panel, saying he lacked the authority to do so. He promised to submit a memo to the panel on how to review the National Assembly security architecture.

“I didn’t know in my whole years in this National Assembly that we are that exposed, for some people to just come in and take the mace and run away.

“For me to prevent somebody or to advise somebody not to do his job is just totally out of place because I don’t have the authority to do that. I did not do that, I cannot do that and I’m not supposed to do that,” he said.

Quote:Here's the next thing I want to address. Most of the people who know me will tell you that I have a heart of gold and maybe that's why God never stops blessing me. This woman (you know who...lol) has been trolling me for years and calling me all sorts of unprintable names which I have never responded to. But when she cried out for help last year, despite the abuses I've gotten from her, I sent money to her account. I harbor no hate for anyone, no matter what. And I swear I would have sent more money to her if people around me hadn't stopped me. I just felt pity for her that she was languishing in prison and no one to help her. And not only did I send money (which I did privately and she made public), I called a few people I know to see what they could do to help bring her out of prison. No matter what, she is a woman, and I am all about women supporting women.

She wrote that I am wearing a prosthetic baby bump...lol. Like I could get away with that in Nigeria? And some folks actually believe it...lol. If I couldn't have a child, I would proudly adopt. Proudly. I love children so much. But fortunately, God blessed me with a womb to carry my own child.

[Image: officiallindaikeji_23_5_2018_9_30_29_566.jpg]

I was just hiding the baby bump until I got to my second trimester before letting you amazing people know. I could have continued hiding it to be honest but I just couldn't keep calm...lol. I've had the easiest pregnancy with no swelling and no issues and I thank God.

Lastly, here's something I want to say to everyone. I remember when I bought my house in Banana Island in 2015, many didn't believe it. In fact one tweet said 'If you believe that Linda Ikeji owns a home in Banana Island, I seriously doubt your higher institution certificate'. That's how much they doubted God's blessings...lol

Shinkafi And Dakingari Charged With Money Laundering, Despite Moving To APC
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-23-2018, 12:00 PM - No Replies

Two former governors who last year decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are among a host of suspects to be tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A former governor of Zamfara State, Mahmud Shinkafi, and that of Kebbi State, Sa’idu Dakingari, will be docked by the anti-corruption agency for breaching the country’s anti money laundering law.

Already, charges have been prepared and filed at federal high courts in the respective states, against the two former governors and their alleged accomplices.

Critics of the federal agency often accuse it of allegedly going after opposition politicians only.

However Messrs Shinkafi and Dakingari decamped to the APC last year, without citing any reasons for their action, in a wave of defections across the country.

Critics described such defections as a means of escaping corruption charges.

In March, the two former governors attended a meeting of the ruling party’s caucus, presided by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa.

PREMIUM TIMES reported Mr Shinkafi’s decamping to the APC, in November 2017, where he was received by the deputy governor of the state, Ibrahim Wakkala.

The former governor, after picking his membership card, promised to work for the development of the party not only at the state level but the country as a whole.

“My coming to APC is home coming for me, because I left it before and now I am back home to my brothers and sisters. Together we are going to work for the party to become stronger and the party to beat in the state,” he said.

On the eve of 2017, Mr Dakingari led some high profile PDP members in his state of Kebbi into the APC.

The defectors were received by the state governor, Abubakar Bagudu, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Mahmud Shinkafi
The former governor, after picking his membership card, promised to work for the development of the party not only at the state level but the country as a whole.

“My coming to APC is home coming for me, because I left it before and now I am back home to my brothers and sisters. Together we are going to work for the party to become stronger and the party to beat in the state,” he said.

On the eve of 2017, Mr Dakingari led some high profile PDP members in his state of Kebbi into the APC.

The defectors were received by the state governor, Abubakar Bagudu, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that Mr Shinkafi will be docked before federal high court in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, on May 28, while the arraignment of Mr Dakingari is slated for June 20.

The Diezani ‘Poisoned Chalice’

The top politicians of the PDP stock are enmeshed in corruption investigations following discovery by investigators of how Nigeria’s former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, funnelled $115 million to fund the party’s campaign.

The money, stashed with Fidelity Bank, was shared to PDP campaign coordinators and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to ensure success of the PDP in the 2015 polls.

In a nationwide crackdown, EFCC arrested and detained many politicians across the federation who are believed to be party to collection and distribution of the slush funds.

Some INEC staff were also convicted for taking cuts in the N23 billion election bazaar.

On Monday, former Minister of Water Resources, Mukhtari Shagari, was arraigned along with four others for allegedly indulging in the funds.

Others charged along with Mr Shagari are Abdullahi Wali, Ibrahim Gidado, Nasiru Bafarawa and Ibrahim Milgoma.

They are accused of receiving N500 million from Mrs Alison-Madueke’s slush funds “without transacting through a financial institution and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 18(a) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act”.

Sweeping Trials
An insider at the EFCC told PREMIUM TIMES that the commission’s leadership had decided to prepare charges against all those involved.

Saidu Dakingari
However, careful not to lose the cases on account of lack of adequate evidence to convict the suspects, the EFCC has decided to go after what the official called “low hanging fruits”.

Instead of charging the suspects with stealing public funds or conspiracy to commit act of corruption, the commission has decided to go after the “more obvious” money laundering offences.

The suspects are therefore mainly charged with breach of anti-money laundering regulations of wiring large amounts of cash through financial institutions.

Others slated for trial in this wave of prosecution, are former Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, and another former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, both from Kano state.

While Mr Wali is said to have confessed to collecting money from the slush funds, Mr Shekarau is said to have denied involvement. An aide who was also initially identified as the one who collected Mr Shekarau’s share has reportedly recanted.

Already, Mr Shekarau has alleged witch-hunt. In a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES by his spokesperson, Sule Sule, he said the EFCC was trying to prosecute him despite having no evidence.

Mr Shekarau served as education minister under the Goodluck Jonathan presidency and has indicated interest to run for president in 2019 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Since 2016, when the issue of election fund came up, Shekarau was invited by the EFCC to explain the amount given to him along with other stakeholders of the (PDP) party in Kano, but he denied ever receiving such amount and challenged EFCC to produce any one who has given him the money or any evidence to prove that he actually collected the money,” Mr Sule said in the statement.

In Jigawa, former junior minister of foreign affairs, Nurudeen Mohammed, and the governorship candidate of PDP in the state, Aminu Ringim, are also being prepared for arraignment.

As Jigawa state’s most senior representatives in the then government, Mr Mohammed reportedly collected the cash ‘contribution’ for the PDP campaign in the state, and handed the money over to Mr Ringim, who was the party’s candidate and close aide of then governor Sule Lamido.

Petroleum sector generates N12.132b tax in three months
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas

[Image: chevron-720x480.jpg]PHOTO: nta.ng
Nigeria’s petroleum sector contributed Value Added Tax (VAT) of N12.132 billion during the first quarter of 2018, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown.
NBS said its first quarter VAT allocation report at the weekend, that offshore operations of the oil and gas sector generated 797.489 million; oil marketing, N2.512 billion; oil producing, N7.360 billion; and gas, N1.461 billion.
At a broader level, sectoral distribution of VAT data for first quarter of 2018 reflected that the sum of N269.79 billion was generated as VAT in first quarter 2018 as against N254.10 billion generated in fourth quarter 2017 and N221.38 billion in first quarter of 2017.

This represents 6.17 per cent increase on quarterly basis and 21.87 per cent increase Year-on-Year.
Manufacturing generated the highest amount of VAT with N30.14 billion generated and closely followed by Professional Services and Commercial and Trading both generating N16.58 billion and N14.93 billion respectively while Mining generated the least and closely followed by Pharmaceutical, Soaps & Toiletries and Textile and Garment industry with N46.25 million, N243.44 million and N285.43 million generated respectively.
Out of the total amounted generated in first quarter of 2018, N121.40 billion was generated as non-import VAT locally while N98.40 billion was generated as non-import VAT for foreign.
Speaking on the oil and gas sector development recently, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, observed that the nation’s Gas Reform was anchored on a robust strategic framework that is focused on maximum economic impact through gas.
Baru had maintained that huge opportunities abound in Nigeria’s Gas Sector, with the country expecting over $25 billion investments anticipated over the next 10 years.
He described the Nigerian Petroleum Industry as the largest and the most vibrant in Sub-Saharan Africa with lots of potentials, especially in the deep water and untapped gas resources.
Baru informed that the aggressive development of gas infrastructure (pipelines and processing plant) between supply sources and the market would also create a sustainable evacuation route for currently flared gas and other gas sources.
He assured that there was evidence that the interventions undertaken by the corporation were working as gas supply to the domestic market is growing at an encouraging rate, having tripled from 500mmcf/d in 2010 to about 1500mmcf/d currently.
Baru further noted that aside looping Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS 2) gas pipeline projects to increase gas volume capacity to at least 2Bcf/day, the corporation has recently signed the contracts to kick off the 614Km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project, which on completion, would deliver gas to the ongoing power plants in the areas and revive the manufacturing industries in the northern part of the country.
“Today, we have completed and commissioned almost 600km of new gas pipelines thereby connecting all existing power plants to permanent gas supply pipeline. We are also currently completing the construction of the strategic 127km Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben gas pipeline – “OB 3” connecting the Eastern supply to the Western demand centres,” he added.

APC Convention: Oshiomhole Apologises For Past ‘sins’
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-23-2018, 11:22 AM - No Replies

Quote:By Onwuka Nzeshi Abuja 

Former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday apologised for the ‘sins’ he committed against constituted authorities during his days as the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), saying there was nothing personal about his actions and he did not mean any harm.

The apology came as Oshiomhole met with the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, principal officers and other members of the red chamber at the National Assembly.

The labour unionist is a frontline aspirant for the National Chairmanship position in the forthcoming National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and several members of the 8th Senate were governors of various states when Oshiomhole led organised labour to strikes in the country.

Oshiomhole was at the Senate to solicit the support of the party’s caucus in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

On his entourage were the Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang; former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Alhaji Abdulwaheed Umar; Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, a former member of the House of Representatives and a host of others.

“I confess that while I was in the NLC, I troubled quite a number of the governors who are now senators. We had disputes. I led protests, not against them, but against the governments they headed at that time.

Somehow, to be very specific, I will be able to say that those robust and sometimes quite intimidating engagements and some might say harassment of some of these governors who are now senators, that somehow, they all understood that there was nothing personal about those issues.

“I can say that while in office and even long after I left office, I have managed to maintain friendship and respect for them.

Even before I became the Governor of Edo State and while I was seeking the Office of Governor, to my very pleasant surprise, many of them were readily available to lend me support and they did give me the support. Suffice it to say that in the end, I was able to win and I became the Governor of Edo State,” he said.

Oshiomhole explained that he was at the National Assembly not only to solicit their support for his ambition, but to share his vision with them on what he would do differently to enhance the image of the party when he gets there.

He noted that the support of the party caucuses in the two chambers of the National Assembly was very critical to the realisation of his ambition as, according to the APC Constitution, every member of the party in the parliament is an automatic delegate to the National Convention.

He explained that given his background in labour unionism and his foray into politics, he was in a good position to understand the challenges of a government and the challenges of a political party.

In a veiled reference to the lingering feud between the executive and legislature, Oshiomhole said that such a relationship could have been better managed through negotiation and compromise.

“We cannot dream of a party in which there are no disagreements. If we have one like that, it means the party is not democratic.

I have not participated in a military government; there is also some form of conversation, if not debate, at the level of the Armed Forces Ruling Council. At least, we hear rumours that some Generals agreed and some Generals disagreed and when they cannot finalise the conversation at the table, then they finalise it with the gun.

But as democrats, the only tool that is lawful and legitimate is the power to persuade, articulate, negotiate and to have a compromise,” he said.

He vowed that if given the opportunity to run the APC as National Chairman, he will not allow a situation where personalities, party organs and arms of government will be fighting one another while the party remains a “siddon look” party.

In response, Saraki said there was no doubt that the former unionist had the capacity to lead the party.

The Senate President expressed delight that Oshiomhole made it a point of duty to meet personally with the APC Caucus in the Senate to solicit their support for the party convention which comes up early next month.

The meeting subsequently went into a closed door session.

2019: If I Were You I Won’t Contest At 70 – Customs CG Hammed Ali Tells Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Quote:By Chijioke Jannah 

The Comptroller General of Customs, Hammed Ali has said at 70, President Buhari should not have contemplated seeking re-election in 2019.

He, however, said that it was President Buhari’s love for the country and his integrity as well as his monumental achievement that had spurred him to seek another four year mandate.

The Customs boss, who led the Buhari Support Organization in a courtesy visit to the President at the State House, told Buhari that his administration had saved the country.

He said, “All we want to say on behalf of Nigerians that we are solidly behind you in this second term bid. People may ask why are you so passionate about change? Why were you so committed in 2014 and why are you so committed in 2018.

“This is because you are a man of integrity, of honesty and above all Mr. President you love this great nation. I have said it and I will repeat it here Mr. President with all due respect, at 70 plus, with a good retirement benefits and with your house in Daura, if I were you I will see no reason to be in this arena.

“But why are you here? It is because you love this great country. You left your comfort to serve Nigeria and that is why for those of us who love you for who you are said we must follow you and ensure that your second term in this country becomes a reality.

“Today is 2018. Way back in 2014 for those who did not know when you talked about your integrity, your achievements as a governor, as a minister, those that have gone are the ones who will understand what we are talking.

Those of us who have experienced those past years know exactly what it was. But today, 2018, those of us here know that your being president has changed this country.

“Three years into your tenure, the tremendous achievements that have been made, we have laid the foundation; we have started building roads but Mr. President we must complete the building.

“What do we need to do? We must as your loyalists and people who believe in this country tell you that we are with you shoulder to shoulder and ensure that you are elected. And then the building will be completed so that never again will there be cause to destroy Nigeria.

“For me, you have been my mentor in service and out of service and I have been fortunate enough to have worked very closely with you. And so when I say some of these things I am saying it for the bottom of my heart because I know you, I know your commitment and your respect to this great nation.

“Mr. President it is always politics, and when politicians speak they speak with two sides of their mouth. We have seen people that have fortune suddenly. Four years back, some of us from the north east were not praying in the mosque, some of us from the north east had moved from our places of abode to settle somewhere else.

“And Mr. President, here in the city, the seat of government, there were booms going off every day. Today, we can sleep with eyes closed, today I drive at midnight, today we can breathe the air and most importantly, those of us who are Muslims can pray in the Mosque during Ramadan.

“That would never had happened. I remember as far as Kaduna is from north east, we could hardly sleep at night because of security, today we have that security. What else are we looking for?

“Mr. President, on the economy, today our economy has grown all because of the discipline you have instilled in the financial sector. All those non-challenges attitudes, all those days of siphoning money are no longer feasible.

“I tell you Mr. President and I use myself as an example, way back I used to get some funds and I used to use it and buy rice and give to some people. Mr. President today, I have to ration the rice that is fiscal discipline.

“Now, I know how to cut my coat according to my size and that is all because of you Mr. President. What else can we ask for?
“Mr. President, those of us that you gave trust and ask us to go out and work, today, we are working, we are deriving, not because of anything especially in areas like ours, where we step on big men’s toes, we do that because we know nobody will come and ask you to talk us and ask us to stop what we are doing.

“Mr. President, one area that I know touches your heart is that today we are about reaching our rice requirement in Nigeria, today we are seeing physically where people are rejecting foreign rice for local rice, today Mr. President if you go to some of our houses, what you will see is local rice and that is wealth for our people.

“Last year, during the Hajj period when I went home, many farmers came to me that they have never had it so good, so much so that the first 25 people that paid up their money when Hajj fares were announced, were rice farmers.

“What more can we say in terms of growth of wealth. People say we are hungry; of course the lazy must be hungry because if you do not work hard, manner doesn’t fall from heaven.

So when people say we are hungry, there was never a times in Nigeria that food is dropped in the mouth of the people and they can never be.

“I can go on and on and enumerate what you have done in just three years of your administration but three is not enough to undo what was done in 16 years.

“The destruction, the monumental stealing that we have witnessed, the destruction of our structures and our system, it takes more than eight years to be able to address them and I believe in three years you have done wonderfully well.”

Former Minister of Aviation, Fani Kayode has reacted to the comment made by President Buhari while meeting the Buhari Support Organisation led by the Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs Service, Hameed Ali at the state house yesterday.

Buhari during the meeting fired back to Obasanjo by saying “one of the former Heads of State between that time was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars, not Naira, on power. Where is the power? Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debts.”

But reacting to Buhari's comment in a series of tweets this morning, Fani Kayode fired back to President Buhari by asking him ''Where Is Your Brain''.

Saraki, A Case Of Political Injustice
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-23-2018, 10:41 AM - No Replies

The beauty of democracy in civilized society and the democratic system of governance we practice is that it is underpinned by the rule of law. One of the features of the rule of law is that justice is blind and should apply to everyone equally; it is impartial. So, while the Senate President is indeed not immune to prosecution for alleged criminal behavior, he should expect a fair judicial process based on cogent evidence and rigorous, plausible case. This does not quite seem like what transpired at the code of conduct tribunal and the whole situation has been compounded by the Federal Executive’s insistence on appealing the tribunal’s decision.

The recent onslaught against the senate and senators by the nigerian police should alarm any democrat or advocate of good governance. It appears that democratic arms of government which criticize or check the executive has been subjected to attacks and intimidation only seen in banana republics and brutal dictatiorships.

Members of the forth estate, the judiciary, opposition members, vocal senators , odinary nigerians who on social media vent about their frustrations.

This attacks did not start today, perhaps it is importnt to take us back to where it started.

Immeidately the leadership of the senate emerged and some very powerful people were not happy with the elected leadership, The Code of conduct tribunal started investigating the senate president, his wife was hauled to the EFCC as well, Nigerians riding on the anti corruption stance of the governent that was elected to power cheered on while this strange persecutions were taking place.

The tribunals’ decision to affirm the Senate President’s No-Case Submission, after what was truly a shoddy showing by the prosecution, is now common knowledge. There were 3 prosecution witness each of whom was discredited for the following reasons – the first, from the EFCC, testified that they did not interview the accused or take any statement from him during their investigations. This is of course highly irregular and lends itself to the theory that the decision to prosecute was not really based on the outcome of an investigation but something else. The second witness, from the bankers of the Senate President, testified that he could not tender any documents because all the ones relevant to the case had been destroyed in a fire. This is bizarre and suggests that the prosecution did not even bother to schedule preparatory meetings with its witnesses. The third witness, from the code of conduct bureau, testified that he had no firsthand knowledge of the bureau’s investigations, as they had all been carried out by his subordinates.

It beggars belief that the prosecution of such a high-profile government functionary, the third in the line of succession to the Presidency after the Vice-President could have been conducted with such incompetence and such disrespect for the taxpayers whose money funded the trial. It is even more unbelievable that the government, knowing it is barred from presenting new witnesses or tendering new evidence on appeal, thinks there is much of a chance for the verdict to be overturned on appeal. If anything, it reinforces the widely-held belief that the Federal Executive is determined to keep the Senate President in court despite the weak evidence its agencies have mustered despite their best efforts.

This is not to suggest that the Senate President is blameless – he may well have a case to answer. But the system of criminal law we practice is one in which the burden is on the prosecutors to prove guilt and not on the accused to show innocence. If anything, the insistence of the Executive on appealing shows the inherent danger in a system that would require the accused person to prove his or her innocence. Prosecutions could very well become a real tool for harassing anyone the government of the day perceives as a threat or an enemy

Today all vocal senators against the executive are suspected of armed robbery and murder, just the other day, a senator who was suspended based on the senate rules came into the hallowed chambers of the senate with thugs and made away with the mace of the senate which is the symbol of authority. These could only have happened with the support of the law enforcement agencies.

Who can forget the dramatic way supreme court justices and other high court judges were arrested and up till date no one has been successfully prosecuted and most of the arrested judges complained that they were victimized because of bails granted to Nnamdi Kanu and El zazaki, we must not forget that the NJC is the body legally empowered to discipline judges.

There is an added risk when it is friends of the government of the day that own the media houses conducting the trials-by-media, under which many have long since been convicted and sentenced. If the people who have the power to tarnish your reputation are in league with those who seek to use the law as a tool of oppression, less resilient targets that find themselves in the crosshairs could very well vanish without a whimper.

The police IG has refused to honor the senate summons which is a slap on our constitution and on the rule of law.

The executive choses which court order to obey and which one to ignore, the head of the EFCC an agency that should be independent, was on TV the other day wearing a badge supporting the president for a second term.

The biggest question is, should ordinary Nigerian trust that the EFCC would be fair and impartial in handling corruption cases? The verdict is left to Nigerians.

A federal executive that came to office parading itself as the paragon of good governance, a federal executive that has probably the highest number of Senior Advocates of Nigeria at any one time must be extra careful about the appearance of politicizing justice. There is the ancient legal maxim that justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done. It is critical that the custodians of our prosecutorial system must be seen to be doing real justice, if the institutions that hold up developed societies are going to be built in our country. If, as our national anthem states, we are truly looking to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign, prosecutions need to stop being tainted with even the faintest of political undertones.

Any strong and developed country has its foundation built on the rule of law and fidelity to the constitution.

Nigerians must resist any attempt to curtail the democratic space in the country.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

*MINISTERS OF LIFE .*

Wednesday, May 23rd .
Pastor Chris

_*But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious (2 Corinthians 3:7-8).*_

The Apostle Paul, in our theme scripture was comparing the awesome difference between the Old and the New Testaments. Without mincing words, he calls the ministration of the Old Testament “the ministration of death.” What does this mean?

Now, understand something about the Law: it came that condemnation might stand. When the Law was read, death was ministered; people were condemned; spiritual death became a consciousness. Recall Paul’s words in Romans 7:9, _*“For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”*_ The law was given because of sin, so that sin might be shown to be what it really is (Read Romans 7:13).

Now, the Old Testament couldn’t fulfill God’s intention which was to give life to men. Rather, it brought death, because of the imperfections of the flesh. No one could fulfill the Law; none could totally rise to the level that the law prescribed. But thanks be unto God! Christ Jesus is the fulfilment of the Law. The Bible says through Him, all are justified from all things from which they couldn’t be justified by the Law of Moses (Acts 13:39).

The Bible says He’s brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10). So, today, when we preach the true New Testament, we’re ministering the Spirit; the Spirit of life. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says we’re able ministers of the New Testament: _*“...not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”*_

This should be your dream and desire: you want your ministration to be a ministration of life; a ministration of the Spirit. Someone who doesn’t yet know Jesus should hear you, and be transformed, because of the release of the spirit of life in your ministration that leaves salvation, healing, deliverance, and other blessings in its wake!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege given to me to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ, and minister life to those in my world, through the Gospel. Thank you for the power of the Spirit and the life in your Word released as many hear the Gospel today, bringing about a complete transformation in their lives, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Numbers 6:23-26* Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. *||*

*||* *Ecclesiastes 8:4* Where the word of a king [is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou? *||*

*||* *Colossians 4:6* Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. *||*

I’m Ready For Probe, Obasanjo Dares Buhari over $16b Power Project
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 11:53 PM - No Replies

Quote:Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he is ready for probe over the $16b Power Project.
He made this known in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi.

The statement reads, ‘It has come to the attention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, apparently without correct information and based on ignorance, suggested that $16 billion was wasted on power projects by “a former President”. We believe that the President was re-echoing the unsubstantiated allegation against Chief Obasanjo by his own predecessor but one’.

Obasanjo argued that while it is doubtful that a President with proper understanding of the issue would utter such, it should be pointed out that records from the National Assembly had exculpated him (Obasanjo) of any wrong-doing concerning the power sector and has proved the allegations as false.

“For the records, Chief Obasanjo has addressed the issues of the power sector and the allegations against him on many occasions and platforms, including in his widely publicised book, My Watch in which he exhaustively stated the facts and reproduced various reports by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which conducted a clinical investigation into the allegations against Chief Obasanjo, and the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Review of the Recommendations in the Report of the Committee on Power on the Investigation into how the Huge Sums Of Money was Spent on Power Generation, Transmission And Distribution between June 1999 and May 2007 without Commensurate Result,” he boasted in the statement.

Obasanjo urged Buhari and his co-travellers to read Chapters 41, 42, 43 and 47 of My Watch for his insights and perspectives on the power sector and indeed what transpired when the allegation of $16 billion on power projects was previously made.

“If he cannot read the three-volume book, he should detail his aides to do so and summarise the chapters in a language that he will easily understand,” Obasanjo added.

Buhari; Attacks Obasanjo, Yar’adua, Jonathan, National Assembly, Commends Abacha
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 11:50 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday criticised previous Nigerian administrations for “lack of imagination.”

He said they failed to provide needed infrastructure despite huge revenues, even as he singled out Olusegun Obasanjo, who was president from 1999 to 2007, for spending over $15 billion dollars on power without achieving much.

Mr Obasanjo, a former supporter of Mr Buhari, is one of the fiercest critics of the incumbent president. He had in January written a damning letter to Mr Buhari asking him not to seek re-election in 2019 due to poor performance.

Speaking when he received a delegation of Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) at the Presidential Villa Tuesday, the president said he often wondered why people in authority chose to send their children outside the country to acquire education while they fail to develop the country.

“I wonder want kind of Nigerians they want their children to come and work with. I think there is a lot of lack of imagination.

“Because if you’re fighting for the country then you shouldn’t be misappropriating or misapplying the fund the way people do,” he said.

Mr Buhari thanked members of the support group for standing by him without being prompted to do so.

“Nobody is paying you for what you have been doing. It is because from the bottom of your hearts; you exposed yourselves by identifying with me through opposition to success and after the success.

“I don’t know how many of you people will say what the hell you got out of it. You can only get satisfaction through voluntary and understandable way of believing in issues you do.

“You are only expecting your return from God and you are looking for the future of the country-your children and grand children.”

The president told the gathering that he recently made some statements. He said because some of them may have missed it due to absence of electricity, he had to repeat it.

He said he threw a challenge to anyone to check either in Europe, Asia or America that between 1999 and 2014, Nigeria was producing 2.1 million barrels per day of crude at an average cost of $100 per barrel.

He said the price even went up to $143.

“So Nigeria was earning 2.1 million times 100 times 16 years, 7 days a week.

“When we came, it collapsed to $37-38 and it was oscillating between $40 and $54 sometimes.

“ I went to the Governor of Central Bank, thank goodness I did not sack him, he is still there. I went with my cap in my hand and say oya. He said there was no savings, only debt,” Mr Buhari said.

During the 16 years the president referenced, Nigeria was governed by three presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007), Umaru Yar’Adua (2007 to 2010), and Goodluck Jonathan (2010 to 2015).

The president told the group of supporters that when he assumed office, most of the roads in Nigeria were in terrible condition, adding “some of them were not repaired since PTF days.”

PTF is the Petroleum Trust Fund set up by late Head of State, Sani Abacha, in 1994 to utilise the proceeds of a petrol price increase. Mr Buhari headed the PTF, which was reputed to have constructed many road projects across the country while the military dictator stole Nigeria blind.

Mr Buhari, who has been criticised for looking the other way while Mr Abacha stole billions of dollars from public treasury while in office, again justified his working with the dictator.

“No matter what opinion you have about Abacha,” he said, “I agreed to work with him and the roads we did from PTF exist from here to Port Harcourt, to Onitsha, to Benin and so on.”

He said the agency also intervened in education and medical care among others.

Mr Buhari also said the railway in Nigeria “was killed and one of the former Heads of State between that time was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars, not Naira, on power. Where is the power? Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debts,” he said, in apparent reference to Mr Obasanjo.

Lambasts National Assembly

Mr Buhari also came down hard on the members of the National Assembly.

He also said unlike the previous administrations, he has made the highest provision for capital projects; N1.3 trillion; in the budget he took to the Assembly.

“Let anybody come and confront me publicly in the National Assembly. What have they been doing?

“Some of them have been there for 10 years. What have they been doing?,” he asked.

Mr Buhari said just like he mentioned 30 years ago, everyone should know that citizens have no other country than Nigeria, adding “we should remain here and salvage it together no matter what you have outside.”

He said his administration had uncovered some houses in Abuja, U.S. and Europe belonging to “some people”.

He, however, said some of them “swore to God” that the houses do not belong to them.

Mr Buhari said “but their accounts, through the banks, through their companies, show that it is their own. But they say it’s not their own.

“This is a terrible thing and the people are saying what are we doing? Why can’t you lock them up? And again I went on by telling them what I said when I was in uniform, younger and rather ruthless. I got from the President downward and I locked them up in Kirikiri and I said you’re guilty except you prove yourselves innocent.

“I myself was locked up and those who misappropriated public funds were given back what they had taken away. Who did anything about it?

“Then I decided to come and put agbada. I tried one, two, three four times and God agreed,” he said.

Mr Buhari said when he ran for office for the third time and went to the court afterwards, his lawyer, Mike Ahamba, who, he described as “a Roman Catholic and Ibo man” requested the panel of judges at the Supreme Court to order for register of voters in some constituencies across the country be provided for vetting and confirmation of the election outcome.

He said the Supreme Court rejected the request and asked him to approach the electoral commission instead.

The president said that at the end, the court ruled against his petition except one judge, who, he, again described as” another Ibo man, a Roman Catholic” who wrote a minority judgment in his favour.

“He was among the panel of the judges, he wrote a minority report in my favour. So, why this question of religion and ethnicity and so on?

“People are worshipping the dollars, the Sterlings not to even talk of the Naira.

“He wrote a minority report saying this is what we have decided. But the President of that court was my classmate for six years in secondary school; he is from my own state. So, please, we have nothing to regret. Absolutely nothing.

“Since we all believe that God works in our hearts not in our talking. God help us, God help our children and grandchildren.

“We will try as much as we can to work and bring this country to it senses.

“God has given Nigeria everything; we are rich in human and material resources so let us keep praying to God that He should put people of conscience in charge at all levels,” Mr Buhari said.

The president commended members of the BSO for supporting him over the years without expecting anything in return.

Big Grin CAN Tells Buhari To Forget Second Term Over Killings In Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 09:06 PM - No Replies

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek a second term in office.

CAN said this on Tuesday while commiserating with the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) as it conducts mass burial for the two priests and parishioners killed by the Fulani herdsmen in Benue State recently.

Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Special Assistant on media to CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, in a statement described the present moment in Nigeria as a trying time for the church.

“We also urge all Christians to identify with the Catholic Church in its nationwide peaceful protest against senseless killings in Nigeria”, it noted.

CAN asked the Nigerian security agencies to rise up to the security challenges in the country.

It expressed dismay that killing of innocent was assuming global embarrassment with mass burial being carried out at all times without a country like Nigeria fighting a war.

The statement added: “CAN calls on President Muhammadu Buhari not to forget his 2015 campaign promises including fighting insecurity and keeping Nigeria united and upon which Nigerians overwhelmingly voted for him.

“Buhari’s government should not fold arms and watch misguided Nigerians, mostly Boko Haram and herdsmen promote killing as a past time in the name of politics and ethnics while solution appears very elusive.

“CAN is disheartening to note that criminal Fulani herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers and other hoodlums have reduced Nigeria to a Banana Republic.

“This development is unacceptable and we call on all well meaning people anywhere in the world to join hands in praying for the deliverance, freedom and liberty from this self inflicted bondage.

“CAN asks President Buhari to suspend his re-election bid until he restores sanity to the country while ensuring the release of Leah Sharibu, the remaining Chibok girls and other abductees from the captivity of the Boko Haram terrorists”.

I Can Pull N1bn From Any Bank In Nigeria Within Minutes – Arrested Nigerian Hacker
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 03:34 PM - No Replies

A Nigerian medical doctor, Dr. William Michael who turned to a professional internet hacker has revealed that he had the capacity to hack into any bank in Nigeria and withdraw N1bn within 67 minutes.
It was reported that the Imo State-born Michael whose mother is from Delta State also revealed that all the banks in Nigeria do not have enough security as none of them had what he described as firewalls to prevent access to their accounts through the internet.
He said it was very easy to have access into both the banks and their customers accounts and defraud them.
“It is so easy to hack into any bank account, pick alerts and send to customers from the bank data that look real but are fake” he said.
Dr. Michael said that he became a professional hacker when he became frustrated and he travelled to Canada, where he was taught how to do it within two weeks from his Israeli friend and became a master.
He said any hacker in the world is a bank to himself because such person can buy anything he wants through his credit card, send fake alerts and will not need to have any account in any bank. He further revealed that there were many applications which can be used and when a hacker mastered them, that money will no longer be a problem to such person.
Dr. Michael confessed that he had hacked into many accounts, withdrawn millions of Naira and had the system that sent fake credit alerts to accounts without the banks detecting it.
He therefore advised the banks in Nigeria to work and improve their security systems as what they have presently were really porous and substandard in the world.
The hacker said that he was a qualified medical doctor and had worked in Eko and Tolu Hospitals before he travelled abroad.
He said he had carried out wide research works on how to perform C/S operations with ease and presented the results to the hospital management.
Dr. Michael said that the management sacked him, stole his ideas and started applying them on their patients, so he left and travelled abroad.

Nigeria Will Continue To Suffer Power Crises Till 2028 – TCN
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 02:20 PM - No Replies

There appears to be no end in sight for the Nigeria’s electricity crisis as a system adequacy report submitted by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has indicated that Nigeria would continue to suffer from severe grid electricity shortage in the next 10 years.

The report said this would happen because under the most optimistic assumptions of high technical availability, high rainfalls, and low demand growth, energy deficit in the country would remain at a level of around 3,000 megawatts (MW).

The country, it explained would however experience an average increase in power demands by 15,440MW and 24,551MW in 2027.

The report indicated that the studies was undertaken by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) perhaps for the TCN, and that it forecasted for periods up to 2027.

“Nigeria will continue to suffer from a severe deficit in electrical energy from the main supply grid in the next 10 years. Even under most optimistic assumptions (high technical availability, high rainfalls, low demand growth), this energy deficit will remain at a level of around 3000MWh/h. In addition to insufficient generation capacity, constraints in the gas supplies will remain very important. Given the expected available generation capacity, gas constraints will continue to limit the available energy until 2025. The capability of the transmission network was calculated under the conditions of all active generators in service and the load distributed according to the MYTO allocation5.

The planned generation and transmission projects were considered. The capability of the 330kV network is limited by thermal as well as voltage stability constraints,” said the report.

Based on its findings as far back as 2015, it stated: “The adequacy of the generation and transmission systems in 2015 is summarised as follows: Nigeria suffered from a severe shortage of electrical energy. Based on an estimated demand of on-grid loads, the Energy Not Supplied (ENS) amounted to 19.3TWh, which represents a continuous average power of 2208MWh/h. The energy shortage was largely due to constraints in the gas-supply chain. These shortages led to an average deficit of 1512 MWh/h. Only some 77 per cent of the available energy from the power plants is utilised. The remaining 23 per cent is not utilised due to problems in the entire supply chain, including generation, transmission and distribution,” he added.

Continuing, it explained: “In addition to the energy shortage, there was a severe shortage in reliably available generation capacity (RANGC). RANGC represents the amount of generation that is available for 99 per cent of the time, irrespective of any gas and water constraints.

“It amounted to 5495MW. The gap between RANGC and peak demand amounted to some 2375MW, when using the same demand estimate. The shortage was not only due to insufficient installed generation capacity, but also due to poor availability of the generators. The primary frequency regulation of the power generating plants was not working in 2015, causing the statutory frequency limits to be exceeded every day. Six total and four partial Collapses occurred, which is very high by international standards,” said the report.

On transmission it stated: “Transmission constraints frequently limited the power flows in the network. Generation in the south-east frequently had to be reduced due to local transmission constraints and due to constraints in the lines from the Benin towards Lagos areas.

“Whenever the availability of generation was high, the flow from Shiroro to Kaduna had to be limited to ensure that voltage stability would be maintained in operation. As a result, the power allocated to the northern Discos (according to MYTO) could frequently not be met. Furthermore, a redistribution of power to the southern Discos often failed, ultimately requiring the generation in the south-eastern network to be reduced,” the report.

Accordingly, the report quantifies deficiencies in the generation and transmission systems, and provided information that can be used as a basis for developing solutions.

It thus added that: “The energy deficit could only be resolved with a massive addition of more power plants as considered by the generation expansion plan of this study. However, this will be difficult to achieve within the analysed time frame. If the expansion of gas-fired plants were to be accelerated to meet the demand, then the supply of gas would likewise have to increase.

Retired Yahoo Boy Exposes Ritual Methods, Speaks On Eating Poo, Sex With Ladies

An unidentified allegedly retired Yahoo boy (internet fraudster), has reportedly confessed to making N1.80billion before retiring from cyber fraud business.
According to the report which is circulating on the internet, the former fraudster also exposed methods in which various scams and money rituals are carried out in Nigeria.
In recent times, there are rumours concerning how some internet fraudsters and money ritualists carry out their operations, and just to clear the air, the mystery billionaire separated the “truth” from the
“lies” in juju-infused money making.

Read the post in full below:
***********

“Ok as a former yahoo boy, I can say that some of this things are true and some are lies. You see that faeces thing is a lie! The faeces will be burnt so you can’t smell it anymore but it’s very potent because the person who has the the poo will die and this isn’t even for yahoo, it is blood money direct. Although if yahoo boy does it, it is automatic explosion for the person.

“Another one is that hating in public space. The babalawo is just trying to scam the yahoo boy thinking he won’t be able to do it. However, wiping of kitten (lady part) after intercourse is true. There is also one that you sleep and cvm inside the girl after bathing a soap and she won’t get pregnant again and if she does, she must miscarry. That one too is very potent and many slay queens have been used for this but they don’t know yet!
“Licking honey is a big fat lie. It can only work for one on one. It can’t work for someone overseas.

When I was active, the one I know that is 100% is the one that you tie the person’s picture with thread and bury it beside the grave of a person whose gender is same as the person you want to hit.

“After the person sends you money, you must buy ram and wear one tira round its neck. The ram will die overnight! A Lagos big girl that does aristo and uses this on senators actually took me to where I did this one and the lady has been mentioned online over and over again.
“The barking like a dog is true , the one day madness is true and trust me you want to know the process.

So many girls have been blacklisted in Dubai because of boys. They will take her to Dubai, have her open account with her details and collect her card and checkbook. When fraud is detected, the girl becomes wanted but she doesn’t know till when she goes back to Dubai and end up in jail.

“All these stuff aren’t exclusive to yahoo boys as it has been around since…yahoo boys just started adding it to business. Lastly many people do rituals and claim yahoo when it is not yahoo. I actually did tax return and dating and made over N1.8 billion and then stopped. God forgive me!”

The Nigeria Defence Headquarters has launched a new offensive known as operation whirls stroke to flush out criminal gangs responsible for the killings in Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba and Zamfara states.

In a press briefing at the Tactical Air Command, Nigeria Air Force, Makurdi on Friday, the Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim said the operation Whirls Stroke was established to take care of security challenges in Benue, Taraba. Nasarawa and Zamfara states following spates of reported killings and clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

He said the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin in consultation with service chiefs and commanders of other security agencies re-strategised and constituted the operation to ensure peace and security of lives and properties in the affected states returned back to normal.

“On the 8 of May 2018 the Operation started in earnest and deployed in all the flash points in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states. It will subsequently be deployed in Zamfara state; however, aerial reconnaissance is being carried out on daily basis in Zamfara state as well as other states under this operation. Operation Whirl Stroke is a full-scale military operation in collaboration with other security agencies to completely restore law, order, peace and stability in the affected communities. In addition, Operation Whirls Stroke will ensure that all the people in the affected areas go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation from any quarters,” he stated.

He said the operation had so far recorded some successes.

According to him, in “Benue State, the following achievements have been recorded within the period of the operation. The troops raided a local militia camp at Tse Utime Unudu in Mbawa Council Ward of Guma LGA of Benue State. During the raid, one armed militia was killed 6 others were arrested while 2 AK 47 rifles, 14 rounds of 62 MM (special) ammunition and 34 rounds of 762MM (NATO) were recovered from the assailants”

He said the suspects and items were in the custody of the military for further investigation.

He further explained that Ada Kajo James and Tikaa Omen Desmond both close associates of Monday Terwase popularly known as ‘Gana, the most dreaded militia in Benue State were arrested.

Both suspects, he continued, were arrested in connection with their involvement in the financing and provision of information to Gana and his syndicate, “The suspects are in the custody of the State Security Services for further investigation.”

Ajim also disclosed that On 10 May, at about 9pm, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke engaged herdsmen who attacked its troops as they were about crossing River Benue at Azege village in Logo LGA of Benue State heading towards Mbajimba village in Guma LGA. He added that the same herdsmen were believed to have carried out the attack in Takum LGA Taraba Stale before they moved to this location.

He said troops were deployed to the affected villages in Ayilamo and Uzer villages in Logo LGA of Benue State and there is a gradual return of villagers to their villages due to presence of security agencies within the LGA.

The defence spokesman stated that information indicated that about 400 residents of Ayilamo village and about 200 residents of Uzer village had returned; out of about 1,500 and 1,000 residents, respectively who fled the villages in January, 2018, due to increased level of attacks by the suspected herdsmen.

“ln Ugya village of Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, troops engaged the militias and carried out a pursuit, and discovered their camp and destroyed it. Three militias were killed. Items recovered include 1 Mark4 rifle, five dane guns, 1 locally made pistol, two Mark 4 rifle magazines, two AK47 magazines 530 5.56 NATO rounds of ammunition, 127 rounds of 7 62mm special ammunition, 20 Mark 4 ammunition, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, five machetes, one axe, 41 catridges, one locally made revolver mechanism, one mobile phone, charms, herbal medicines,” he narrated.

‘You Must Marry Corpse Of Our Daughter’ – Family Tells Killer Boyfriend
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Y @LEKZYLOADED

Yesterday, we reported that a 19-year-old secondary school leaver, Confidence Nwanma was stabbed to death by her 24-year-old boyfriend, Saliu Ladayo after she reportedly laid a curse on him after he was seen with another woman.

The latest update on the incident, is that the family of the deceased has declared that the killer boyfriend must marry the corpse of the daughter in line with the tradition of the family.

Shortly after the killer boyfriend was arrested by police officers attached to the Ondo State Police Command, the father of the deceased Mr. Jude Nwanma, who spoke to Punch’s correspondent at his residence at Oke Aro, Akure, said that the custom must be observed in their home town in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State before his late daughter was buried.

According to him, failure to perform the traditional rite would cause calamity to befall the family of Ladayo.

“In our place, it is mandatory that the man must marry the corpse of our daughter. We must observe the custom by taking the corpse to our village where the marriage would take place.

“It is mandatory that he pays the dowry in double because he brought our daughter dead for marriage.

“He would observe all the dictates of the custom before our family would let him go. Without this, every young person from the family of the man will never get to the age of our daughter. They will die a sudden death just like our daughter.

” This is not our making; it is the way our ancestors put it down even before we were born. Our people all over the world are waiting for the court judgment. Whichever way it goes, the boy must perform the marital rite to our daughter’s corpse” he said.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, the suspect who was paraded at the headquarters of the state police command would soon appear in court.

Senate President "Saraki" Having A Good Laugh At IGP’s "Transmission" Joke (Video)

During the APC’s State Congress, over the weekend, in Kwara State, the Senate President, Saraki, couldn’t control his laughter as the MC was trolling the I.G of Police, Idris, over his recent blunder during an event in Kano State.

The M.C had said “no one can come from Kwara State and not be able to speak good English as against always saying ‘transmission commission transmission’” a reference to the IGP’s gaffe. This sent everyone into an uncontrollable laughter.

Governor Ayodele Fayose turned very spiritual recently as he was seen praying for his current deputy, Prof. Olusola Eleka, who is currently the flagbearer of the PDP in the upcoming Ekiti Guber elections.

Fayose seriously prayed for his candidate and handed over the newly built Governor's office in Ekiti to him. PoliticsNGR has footage from the scene, watch below;

Obasanjo Visits Afenifere After 20 Years, Says 'APC Must Go'
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-22-2018, 10:44 AM - No Replies

Quote:Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday visited the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa. Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

He was accompanied by his close ally, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe and Ayo Osuntokun.

Obasanjo said it is a must to rescue the country from the hands of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), led federal government come 2019.

Obasanjo who was visiting Afenifere for the first time in 20 years, said he was in Akure, the Ondo state capital to pay homage to the leader of the the group, Fasoranti.

He commended Afenifere for standing by their belief, saying “you have been talking about the interest of Yoruba, while I have been talking about the interest of Nigeria. Our paths crossed. Our priority is now one. If we did not repair this country, it will be disastrous.”

Obasanjo, recalled how he was rejected by the group while seeking their support in the past, said ” I remember visiting Pa Abraham Adesanya thrice in Lagos before the election and I was asked to join Afenifere and Alliance for Democracy (AD) then, but I told them that AD was cul-de-sac.

“Pa Abraham told me if I join, things will change but I refused to join them. I went back the second time but they refused to work for my emergence.

“I went there again the third time but Afenifere maintained their stand, they refused to vote for me but I secured my votes outside Yorubaland, though they supported me in 2003 for my re-election”.

Fasoranti commended Obasanjo for his efforts at building a better country.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in the country, noting that the country is not being run properly.

According to him “we are in full support of all the letters written by Obasanjo to President Muhamadu Buhari on the state of the nation. We are dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country. The country is not being run properly.”

Fasoranti said Afenifere was in support of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and ADC.

He said “It will be the joy of everybody to present a formidable team to confront the evil government that is there now.”

Present at the meeting were Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa, Kole Omololu, Sola Ebiseni , Chief Akin Omosebi , Femi Aluko among others.

The Coalition of Northern Groups on Monday in Kaduna asked President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who are above 70 years, not to contest the presidency of the country in 2019.

The group said such leaders were responsible for where the country found itself, adding that the country should be led by young Nigerians that could take it to the Promised Land.

The CNG’s position was contained in a communiqué it issued shortly after the end of a two-day summit which was held at the Arewa House, Kaduna on Monday.

The coalition gave the Ndigbo a notice to leave the North last year . It however withdrew the notice to quit months later.

Over 30 groups including the Nastura Ashir Sharif ‘s Arewa Citizens Action for Change); ShettimaYerima’s Arewa Youth Consultative Forum; Aminu Adam’s Arewa Youth Development Foundation; Alfred Solomon’s Arewa Students Forum; Abdul-Azeez Suleiman-led Northern Emancipation Network and the Northern Youth Vanguard led by Joshua Viashman, form the coalition.

However, while fielding questions from journalists, a leader of the group and the National President of the AYCF, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, said it was the belief of the coalition, that though it was the right of Buhari and Atiku to contest, it was left for Nigerians to decide their fate.

Yerima said on behalf of the CNG, “We advise him (Buhari) that we still have people within our generation who have integrity who are very competent and also have capacity to lead. We are advising him not to contest but if he chooses to go ahead to contest, Nigerians will go ahead to decide. This is our own opinion and advice to somebody whom we feel is a father to us. Anybody above 70 years should not contest.”

When asked whether the advice had been extended to Atiku , he said, “ it extends to anybody above that age (70).”

But the Presidency has challenged the Coalition of Northern Groups to cite the section of the nation’s constitution that stipulates that those above 70 years cannot contest the presidential seat.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, gave the challenge in an interview in reaction to the northern coalition’s call that Buhari and Atiku, who are above 70 years, should not contest the presidency of the country in 2019.

He said the country was being governed by law, hence nobody’s constitutional right could be abridged for no just cause.

The presidential spokesman said, “Let them tell us the section of the constitution that stops those above 70 years from contesting. As you know, the country is governed by law and the President has not breached any law by showing interest in the race.

“If they want to contest, they are free to come out and do so. The President is not stopping anybody from contesting against him.”

Attempts to get a reaction from former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were unsuccessful.

Calls to the mobile telephone number of his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, indicated that it was switched off. A response to a text message sent to him on the subject was being awaited as of the time (8:45 pm) of filing this report.

A communiqué read on behalf of the CNG by its spokesman, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, said the summit basically centered on restructuring of the country as being clamoured by some Nigerians.

The coalition said it opted for a holistic “restructuring” of the country.

It lamented the attitude of northern political leaders to the contentious issue of restructuring of the country.

The CNG also dismissed both the Northern Governors’ Forum Committee on Restructuring and the Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s Committee on Restructuring by the APC-led government, saying that Nigeria neither belonged to the APC nor the PDP.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

PASTOR CHRIS

TUESDAY, 22ND MAY, 2018.

MINISTERING THROUGH THE SPIRIT.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).

Someone can have a word of prophecy, and then go ahead to give it, but the words spoken come out empty, inoperative and ineffective, even though the prophetic message is true. The reason is that the words spoken are devoid of the power of the Spirit.

This is one of the reasons we’re required to spend quality time praying in the Spirit, to be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 says, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be (being) filled with the Spirit.”
Those words were originally written to the Christians in Ephesus, people who were already filled with the Spirit. So, it’s obvious that the Spirit of God, through the Apostle Paul, is referring to us being constantly under the influence, control or sway of the Spirit. That way, your message and your preaching wouldn’t be with enticing or persuasive words of man’s wisdom, or clever rhetorics, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

When you’re filled with the Spirit, you minister the Spirit; your words are impregnated with divine energy. Your communication is such that people are never able to forget or get over their encounter with you; they’re impacted greatly by the love and person of Jesus; His wisdom, power and righteousness that effuse and exude from your words.

2 Corinthians 4:5 says, “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord…”; meaning that no matter what you prophesy, preach or teach, it must be Christ Jesus, and you can’t preach or minister Christ without the power of the Spirit. It’s the reason sometimes you should pray and fast, soaking your spirit more into the Holy Spirit, so you can speak as the oracle of God.

We’re required to always walk in oneness and in sync with the Spirit, with His glory and power revealed in, and through, us. But that won’t be your experience until, and unless, you’re given to intense study of, and meditation on, the Word, and deep fellowship with the Spirit.
Be filled with the Spirit, again and again! Encourage the ministry of the Spirit in your personal life, and your words will be operative, effective, laden with divine power to alter situations and transform destinies.

PRAYER

Thank you Father, for your Spirit infuses my words with power; therefore, I speak life always. My words bless and transform destinies, bearing your love, wisdom, power and righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

22ND MAY.

I affirm that God has given me His life and the faith to live it successfully. I do not walk by carnal reasoning and I do not try to justify myself by good works, but I live by faith and therefore, pleasing to Him in every good work by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am not an ordinary person; I am in Christ, and God is at work in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He has imparted eternal life into my spirit, through His Son Jesus Christ.

The divine life in me destroys and renders the work of the devil futile in and all around me! Everywhere I go and in all that I do, I manifest God’s glory, wisdom, and righteousness. Hallelujah! God’s grace and the power of His righteousness are at work in me! I live free from sin and sin-consciousness because I walk by faith, and manifest the love of Christ! I walk in the liberty of the Spirit today, and always. I refuse to let my feelings dictate the circumstances of my life; rather, I choose to be controlled by the Spirit, being led by Him and motivated by the Word, which I live by. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

Dino Melaye Says ‘I Remain Unbowed’
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2018, 08:11 PM - No Replies

The embattled lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has thanked Nigerians for standing by him during his travails in the hands of those he described as the “State.”

Melaye, in a lengthy write-up posted on Facebook on Monday, alleged that his trials were a plot by the “State” to silence him.

The lawmaker, however, said that he is now more resolute on his convictions.

Melaye is being prosecuted by the Nigeria Police in two separate courts.

While he is standing trial in a Lokoja, Kogi State, court on charges bordering on gun-running, he is also on trial in an Abuja court for attempted suicide, among other charges.

The senator wrote: “Someone once said that rock bottom is good solid ground and a dead-end street is just a place to turn around.

“In the last few weeks, I have been taken to the good solid ground at the rock bottom and they couldn’t go further. I have been brought to the dead-end street, but with you standing by my side, I have turned around and bounced back to the chagrin of those who sought to seal my lips from speaking out against tyranny, politics of oppression and blackmail.

“They unleashed an endless barrage of physical, psychological, metaphysical and emotional torture and assault on me, but through the power of the Most High and you, the good people of Nigeria, we have once again seen the triumph of truth over lies and good over evil.

“It was Edmund Burke who was quoted as saying that when bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one … in a contemptible struggle.

“I am, of all men, a blessed man, to have courageous and dependable people like you as my fellow soldiers in the struggle to free us from the shackles of political strongholds and tyranny.”

He added, “The state unleashed its raw power on me and released a 200-man-strong fully-armed policemen on a man without a knife or a bullet. It did this because I called injustice by its name and called for accountability. For this, they sought to break my spirit and destroy me permanently.

“In their moment of reign, I was fully shackled. With my hands tied to my back and hurled into a dark solitary confinement waiting for the butchers knife, you, my people, stood by me. You came against a raging fire and stood up against tyranny, lies, filthy lucre, injustice, persecution and greed.

“While in the dark and unable to fight for myself, they sought to take my mandate, which you had freely given to me, but you answered back and quenched deceit in its wake. You stood resolute and unflinching and defended your mandate to me.

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart. In their attempt to break me, they have made me stronger.”

The lawmaker thanked all those who stood in his defence and visited him “after I was injured and subsequently detained at the hospital.”

He said, “You have strengthened my resolve and hardened my flesh against those who seek to devour and make meat of me. You have once again proved to me the axiom in the saying that ‘in prosperity, our friends know us; in adversity, we know our friends.’ I am very grateful. For your sake, I remain unbowed.

“I know many of you worry about my safety and life in this new dispensation where life is no longer sacred in Nigeria, but do not be troubled. My bond of love for you, my good people, makes it impossible for me to consider my self-risk, safety, comfort or opportunity in my unflinching commitment to stand up for you, to stand up for truth and if necessary, die for the truth and the emancipation of our people from the chains of poverty and oppression.

“Though they raise spurious allegations against me, bear false witness against me, though they seek to frighten me and lure me into their bounty of evil, I will fear no foe.

“Yes, my traducers and torturers wish that I keep quiet; though they seek to seal my lips, to silence my voice forever, I remain ever more resolute and committed. I am committed to this cause for which I am a politician; the cause of the downtrodden, to speak truth to power and stand against oppression and injustice. On these issues, there will be no compromise. I owe no apologies and I tender none.

“Like I have always said, ‘you speak the truth, you die; you don’t speak the truth, you die. I have chosen to speak the truth, dead or alive. Reverend Martin Luther King Jnr. once said, ‘Cowardice asks the question: is it safe? Expediency asks the question: is it politics? Vanity asks the question: is it popular? But Conscience asks the question: is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor political nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.

“To my people, I promise you this and this only. I have taken my position; I will not hold back, I will not hold my peace, I will not be shut down, neither will I shut up, not as long as injustice and falsehood continues to reign.

“As long as I will live, I will not bow to Baal.”

Ndume: Saraki Betrayed Us… I Regret Supporting Him
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2018, 06:53 PM - No Replies

Quote:by Mansur Ibrahim

Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno south, says he regrets supporting Bukola Saraki to emerge senate president.

Speaking on Hard Copy, a Channels Television programme, the lawmaker accused Saraki of targetting those who oppose him.

In March 2017, the lawmaker was suspended for “embarrassing” Saraki and Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west.

Ndume had demanded that the upper legislative chamber investigate the allegation that a vehicle imported without appropriate customs documents belong to Saraki while he also moved for a probe into the allegations of certificate forgery levelled against Melaye.

During the television programme, Maupe Ogun, the presenter, had asked the senator If he regrets supporting the senate president and he said: “Yes, I do. Look at the senate now, we have been reduced to unbearable level of integrity, just because of few people, few person, that is wrong.

“I don’t want to be individualistic about it. We put the leadership there for Saraki; if you want me to be specific about it, and then it turns out to be another thing. We have senator’s president now, instead of senate president.”

Ndume said his relationship with Saraki went sour because of his love for the truth.
He maintained that he has a cordial relationship with his colleagues at the upper legislative chamber.

“I speak the truth a lot even if I’m alone, and I stand by it. We started with the issue of Magu, I was with you on national TV and that is history now, then we came out and the second issue was that of the car importation, and the issue of Dino Melaye’s certificate and then I was shockingly suspended for 180 days and it was not the committee that recommended that,” he said.

“My colleagues did not not know about the report that was used to suspend me illegally and unconstitutionally for 180 days. That’s why I went quietly to court and you see the response of my people then.

“It is not fair for one among equal to take himself up, and use, take advantage of the gavel to rule instead of to lead, instead of to preside, that is what the constitution says. The senate president is to preside, he doesn’t even have a vote, he has no voice.

By the time you accept being the senate president, you have lost your right to some extent as a senator until the senate ties, that is when you come in to break the ties. This is not the case, as senate president will say, ‘I direct so so so and my members…’.

“I mean, it’s very unfortunate, I personally did not expect this. That is how we got it wrong, because once an individual thinks he owns the senate, and he dishes out the direction, and dishes out what he thinks, you’ll always get it wrong… 108 heads are better than one. But for now, senate at certain point is like Dino and Saraki. It is very unfortunate.”

Nigeria Economy Grew By 1.95% In Q1 2018
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2018, 05:41 PM - No Replies

Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product grew by 1.95 per cent year-on-year in real terms in the first three months of this year.

The National Bureau of Statistics stated this on Monday in its GDP report for the first quarter of 2018.

“This shows a stronger growth when compared with the first quarter of 2017 which recorded a growth of -0.91 per cent, indicating an increase of 2.87 per cent points,” the NBS said.

It said compared to the preceding quarter, there was a decline of -0.16 percentage points from 2.11 per cent.

“Quarter on quarter, real GDP growth was -13.40 per cent,” the bureau said, adding that the oil production estimates for the third and fourth quarters of 2017 had been revised and oil GDP for those quarters had been adjusted accordingly.

The NBS said, “Still on the first quarter of 2018, aggregate GDP stood at N28,464,322.01m in nominal terms. This performance is higher when compared to the first quarter of 2017, which recorded a nominal GDP aggregate of N26,028,356.03m, thus presenting a positive year-on-year nominal growth rate of 9.36 per cent.

“This rate of growth is, however, lower relative to growth recorded in Q1 2017 by -7.70 per cent points at 17.06 per cent but higher than the proceeding quarter by 2.14 per cent points at 7.22 per cent. To give a clearer depiction, the Nigerian economy has been classified broadly into the oil and non-oil sectors.”

See The Review Of The N100million Bentley Mulsanne That Linda Ikeji Ordered For

The news is all over the place: popular celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji is pregnant.

She made the revelation over the weekend on her blog when she posted photos of her baby bump.

The former model, also revealed that she has ordered a Bentley Mulsanne for herself and her unborn baby.

Although, the blogger didn’t state the model of the car, but according to our research, the Bentley Mulsanne has an average cost of 100 million naira.

Here are some of the features of the Bentley Mulsanne.

The Bentley Mulsanne is a British handmade full-size luxury car produced by Bentley Motors Limited in the United Kingdom.

Engine: V8 twin turbo

Power: 505 hp

Torque: 752 lb⋅ft

Top Speed: 190 mph

Transmission: 8 – speed automatic

Exterior
The front design of the Mulsanne looks more cool with an extended wheelbase model, it carries the same Bentley Signature Grille. The celebrity blogger had to go for Luxury and elegance.

Interior
The Mulsanne has a leather quilted seats, accessible bottle and cup holders, and all other accessories that will make the celebrity blogger and her unborn baby comfortable.

It also has it’s own personal cooler that keeps one’s drink or milk chilled. Perhaps, this explains why Linda Ikeji had to opt in for this particular luxury car.

Each 505 hp engine takes 30 hours to build while the entire car takes nine to twelve weeks to produce.

Buhari's N40M Cash Gift Tears CAN Apart - Vanguard
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2018, 05:30 PM - No Replies

Quote:Trouble in the House of God: Buhari’s cash gift divides CAN

National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, is accusing the leadership of the Christian of Nigeria (CAN) of corruption and abuse of office.

Specifically, the forum alleged that the leadership of the umbrella organisation for Christians in Nigeria collected N25 million or N40 million from the Presidency during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, criticising the action and calling for sanction. It also alleged that the CAN leadership bought official vehicles at questionable prices.

The CAN President, Rev. (Dr) Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, dismissed the allegations, branding them as “a catalogue of lies” designed to smear his reputation.

In a memo, titled ‘NCEF Protests: Is NEC of CAN Guilty of Negligence?’, and signed by the Chairman, Elder Solomon Asemota, SAN, on behalf of members, including, but not limited to retired Generals Joshua Dogonyaro, Zamani Lekwot, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma; Elder Matthew Owojaiye, Justice Kalajine Anigbogu (ret.), Elder Shyngle Wigwe, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Pastor Bosun Emmanuel (Secretary), NCEF is calling on the National Executive Council, NEC, to investigate alleged high handedness of the CAN President.

According to the memo, NEC should immediately convene an emergency meeting to consider the issues raised and set up the process for the investigation of Ayokunle and immediate suspension of the President of CAN, until all these allegations have been investigated and he is cleared of wrong doing.

Continuing, the memo urged the NEC to ensure that the investigation looks into the activities of other officials of CAN on whose heads allegations of wrong doing and misconduct hang.

The Christian Elders argued that it has the statutory right to “make its position public to all Nigerian Christians and alert them that, if Christianity is destroyed in Nigeria or Christians continue to get slaughtered, the present NEC of CAN should be held responsible.

NCEF began its memo by expressing its condolence to CAN and all Christians in Nigeria on the death of Dr. Musa Asake, CAN Secretary General, on Friday, May 11, 2018.

The memo went on to level the allegations against the CAN to include corruption, high handedness and abuse of office. It alleged that a vehicle that was purportedly purchased for the use of the CAN Vice President at a cost of N11 million in Cotonou was being sold in Nigeria at N5 million. Dr. Ayokunle is yet to explain what happened to N6 million. In all, N43 million was spent to purchase four second hand vehicles in Cotonou. This allegation is too big to be swept under the carpet. (This vehicle is parked at the National Christian Centre, Abuja),”the Christian Elders said.

They went on: “On the 10th of November, 2017, a delegation of CAN, led by the President of CAN, Rev. Dr. Ayokunle, met with President Muhammadu Buhari and, after the visit, collected ‘transportation’ money. While informed sources claim it was N40 million, CAN officials insist it was N25 million and it was alleged to have been shared by somebody who is not an official of the National Secretariat of CAN.

“NCEF insists on proper investigation of how the money was shared and how much each person received. In addition, NCEF insists on proper sanction of every Christian leader that took part in sharing money from President Buhari. It is unethical and very insensitive for Christian leaders to collect money from the man every Christian is aware has compromised security to the detriment of the Church”.

Saying the auditor presented a financial report to CAN that did not include the N43 million spent on vehicles in Cotonou, the memo said: “Where did N43 million disappear to?”. The group pointed out that NEC was yet to properly investigate how N28 million the former President of CAN provided before he left office, to minister to persecuted Christians, was spent”.

Continuing, the Christian Elders said various alleged infractions on the constitution of CAN, as listed by the Vice President of CAN, had to be investigated including the Report of the Mediating Committee, headed by Supreme Court Justice, Hon. Justice James Ogebe.

According to the memo, the attempt to use the Assistant General Secretary as scapegoat for the transactions in Cotonou has to be properly investigated and all those involved disciplined.

The group also said “the letter to DSS which Rev. Dr. Ayokunle refused to sign on 28th February, 2017, after he had agreed he would do so on 15th February, 2017, has to be investigated. It asked: “Why did he, as the President of CAN and as the Chairman of the CAN Trust Fund, refuse to append his signature to the letter? “Second, who gave the authority to edit the letter and remove substantial sections of it before the Legal Adviser eventually signed and sent a diluted document to the DSS?”

The Elders said CAN NEC was yet to investigate the tribal shift in appointments in the national offices and in the secretariat.

Reacting to the allegations, Ayokunle, who was attending a conference in Philadephia, United States, at the weekend, advised Sunday Vanguard to discountenance the charges as a “catalogue of lies.”

“There is no truth in what they are alleging. No truth at all in all the allegations. If they are after sanity in CAN, is it on the pages of newspaper that they intend to settle any dispute? Do Muslims behave like that about their leaders?”, the CAN leader said on phone.

“You know if these people are allowed to smear my reputation on the pages of the media, they have successfully finished the Church in Nigeria. They have already written that I should be removed because they did a kangaroo investigation which did not involve me.”

While appealing for restraint, Ayokunle said representatives from both parties to the conflict must allow the NEC of CAN to handle all perceived grievances amicably “because when you have done the damage, it will be difficult to correct.”

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old cleaner, Aminu Mustapha, said to be a  resident of Magama-Jibia village in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state, who was allegedly found in possession of 103 SIM cards and 13 passport photographs of police officers.

The cleaner who could not give satisfactory accounts of how he came about the items and what he planned to do with them, was arraigned before a Katsina senior magistrate court last Friday for offences which, the police said, was contrary to Section 319(A) of the Penal Code.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that the exhibits were found on Mustapha, who is also known as Jega, on April 30. He added that the case was being investigated by the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.

Hajiya Dikko the judge who passed judgment on the case, directed that the cleaner be remanded in police custody till May 24, 2018 when his case would come up for mention before Senior Magistrate Hajiya Falile Dikko.

This is coming few days after we reported that the Enugu State Police Command arrested two persons using stolen SIM cards to defraud the owners in the state. The Command’s Spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement on Saturday that the two suspects were arrested on May 18.

Amaraizu said that the Police recovered 30 cards of different telecommunication networks, belonging to various victims yet to be identified. He stated that the suspects were arrested by police operative of the Central Police Station, Enugu, who acted on a coordinated intelligence information.

According to the statement, the suspects specialise in using victims’ SIM cards to access their bank details and withdraw their money.  The suspects were identified as Abuchi Ogbu, 20 and Christian Mba, 21.

Ogbu is from Ndiagu Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area, resides at 17 New Jerusalem Coal Camp, Enugu, while Mba is from Amechi Idodo in Nkanu East Local Government Area and residing at 23 New Jerusalem Coal Camp, Enugu.

The suspects confessed to operate in three groups; one specialises in stealing phones, takes the SIM cards to Mba, who is a cybercafé operator, to access the BVN and other bank details of their victims and hack into their accounts.

The other group, headed by Ogbu is to generate the PIN code of victims through the information gathered on the SIM cards. The codes are passed to the person, who then accesses the victims’ accounts and withdraws the money.

nPDP Vs APC, Members Meets APC Leader over Failed Congresses, May Pull Out, Others
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-21-2018, 11:09 AM - No Replies

Quote:Members of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) are set to severe relationship with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) any moment from now except last minutes efforts being made yield positive result.

The Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered that national leaders of the APC and members of the nPDP are expected to meet today (Monday) in a last minute effort to contain agitation from the nPDP members.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Sunday, former acting chairman of nPDP, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, said the meeting is slated for 2.00 pm.

Baraje who lamented high rate of internal conflicts within the ruling APC said that the situation culminated in parallel state congresses in about ’21 states’.

He said that contrary to insinuations in some quarters, the nPDP’s recent letter to the leadership of the APC was to forestall such occurrences.

Baraje, who said that the PDP never had such internal wrangling as now evident in the APC, warned that if the APC fails to heed the request of the nPDP, then its forthcoming national convention might become an avenue to wash dirty linens in public.

He expressed concern over the path being taken by APC leaders, regretted that what members of the nPDP are witnessing in the APC is worse than what they experienced in the PDP.

He said the nPDP is made up of men and women who cannot be pushed aside, referring to the resignation of the group’s secretary and former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as signal to what may happen if members were not able to convince their followers about the need to remain in the APC.

Baraje, however, said that the nPDP members would not immediately pull out of the APC if the party fails to meet their demands, saying like they did in the last administration, they would still go ahead and meet with several leaders across the country to stop what he termed as impunity within the party.

“The last time we met here (Baraje’s house) in 2016 I told you that the way the party was going on we were on the road to perdition.

“If you look at the letter we wrote, we never said we gave an ultimatum but we advised them; we hinted the party because of the ongoing primaries of the party. Now the party has invited us, exactly on the seventh day of the letter and they wanted us to meet that same day but because we were speaking for several leaders across the country we told them we couldn’t meet that same day so now they have scheduled a meeting for tomorrow (Monday) anytime from 2 pm”

He dismissed the opposition of the group led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu to the petition by the nPDP, saying the nPDP is such a large group.

“We have travelled a long way with the APC and now we are seeing things worse in APC than in PDP. If we the leaders are worth the name, we should be bold enough to speak about it”, he said.

(Full List): 5 Ondo Men In Trouble For Raping, Recording Video Of 2 Teenagers
By   John Ogunsemore    May 21, 2018

Five men in Ondo are in serious trouble after they were picked up by the State Police Command for raping two teenagers, recording the sexual exploits and posting it on Facebook.
One of the men was said to have lured the girls to his home under the guise that his daughter was celebrating her birthday.
When the girls arrived, they were reportedly stripped naked and each of the men took turns raping them.
The victims were said to have been released around evening and one of them reported the matter to her elder brother, who reported to the police.

The incident occurred in the Odoside area of Ondo town.
The suspects were immediately picked up.
According to The Punch, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph on Sunday identified the suspects as Bode Akinsiku, Olabanji Femi, Abiodun Ayodele, Fadairo Wahab and Adedayo Adebayo.

He added that the suspects tortured their victims before raping them, recording the video and then posted it on their Facebook pages.
Joseph said the suspects would be diligently prosecuted after conclusion of investigations.
The Punch quoted one of the victims as saying four of them were invited but two managed to escape.
She said, “They stripped us naked and seized all our clothes; they recorded the video after all of them had had sexual intercourse with us one after another . They equally threatened to take us to the street naked . We cried and begged them to allow us to go after they had raped us.
“They lured us to the area around 11 . 30am ; they held us hostage for several hours. They later fetched water for us and allowed us to take our bath ; they bought rice for us to eat and freed us in the evening . We reported the matter to one of my brothers , who vowed to get the video and report the mater to the police.
“Though some of the families of the suspects have been begging us and promised to pay us money, my brother managed to get the video and reported the matter to the police.”

APC Cracks deepened as some members of the Federal Executive Council Conduct Paralle

APC factions emerge in 10 states

Quote:The cracks in the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened at the weekend as some members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) conducted parallel state congresses and elected factional State Working Committees (SWC) in their respective states.

The ministers, who had earlier lost in the May 5 and 13 ward and local government congresses of the ruling party and conducted parallel congresses at the weekend are Geoffrey Onyeama (Foreign Affairs, Enugu); Lai Mohammed (Information and Culture, Kwara); Adebayo Shittu (Communication, Oyo) and Babatunde Fashola (Works, Power and Housing, Lagos).

In Kwara, two parallel congresses equally held in Ilorin, the state capital, at the weekend. While the faction loyal to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, held its congress at the Banquet Hall opposite the Government House, another congress by a faction loyal to the Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammed, took place at Arca Santa Event Hall.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed; APC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi; Senator Shaaba Lafiaji and lawmakers representing the state at the National Assembly and state House of Assembly were present at the congress held at the Banquet Hall.

Present at the congress by the minister’s group were a former Special Assistant to the Senate President on Special Duties and Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Moshood Mustapha; a former Commissioner for Information under Saraki’s administration, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin and a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) also under Saraki, Alhaji Ganiyu Cook-Olododo.

Members of both factional executives emerged through consensus arrangement, with Alhaji Moshood Bolarinwa, emerging the state chairman of the faction loyal to the minister.

In Oyo State, it was a repeat of the ward and local government congresses experience as the Minister of Communication (Shittu) organised a parallel state congress to counter the Governor Abiola Ajimobiled faction.

The governor’s group had its congress at the Lekan Salami Stadium, while the Shittu-led Unity Forum of the party held its own at the Liberty Stadium. While the Ajimobi-led faction returned the incumbent chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke, through consensus, the Shittu group, elected Chief Isiaka Alimi as chairman.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (Onyeama), who also organised a parallel congress in Enugu State, had his group electing Mr. Okey Ogbodo, as factional chairman of the APC in the state, while the group, led by former military Governor of Gombe State, Group Capt. Joe Oji; Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu; APC National Vice Chairman (South-East), Emma Eneukwu and businessman, Emperor Baywood Ibe, re-elected the incumbent chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye. In Lagos, a faction of the APC loyal to Fashola converged on the Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja, where it elected new leaders to pilot the party’s affairs.

The faction loyal to the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had its own congress at the party’s secretariat on ACME road, Ogba. Tinubu and Fashola were conspicuously absent from both congresses.

The new executive of the Tinubu group was elected by no fewer than 2,500 delegates via voice vote where a former Commissioner for Home Affairs in the state,Alhaji Tunde Balogun, emerged as new chairman.

The Fashola group, which also has APC National Legal Adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), on its part, elected a former vice chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Fouad Oki, as chairman. Oki insisted that the congress met all the guidelines of a democratic congress. Another FEC member, who lost out in the state congress is the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung. Unlike his colleagues, he stayed away from the congresses as well as refrained from organising parallel congresses.

New Telegraph gathered that the incumbent state chairman of the party, Hon. Letep Dabang, who was reelected, is the candidate of Governor Simon Lalong, while Johnson Pondar, a onetime governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), was backed by Dalung. Pondar was disqualified by the congress committee after his name was not found in his ward’s register of the party.

This paved the way for Dabang to be returned unopposed. Like in Plateau, there was no parallel congress in Benue State as all delegates from the 23 local government areas converged on the Aper Aku stadium, where the incumbent state chairman of the party, Comrade Abba Yaro, was returned.

Yaro, a loyalist of a former governor and leader of the APC in Benue State, Senator George Akume, was returned alongside 27 other incumbent members of the state exco. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who stayed away from the exercise, however, lost his bid to replace Yaro, who hails from the same Ogbadibo Local Government Area with him.

Besides Lagos, Kwara, Oyo and Enugu, other states where parallel congresses held are Abia, Ebonyi, Ondo, Adamawa, Kogi and Delta. In Kogi, two different executives emerged, following the parallel congresses by the two main factions of the party.

The two executives emerged through affirmation. While the faction loyal to Governor Yahaya Bello held its own congress at the Confluence Stadium, the Audu/Faleke faction held its own at St. Peters Primary School, Felele, Lokoja.

The governor’s faction elected Mr. Abdulahi Bello, who was until now, a Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs to Governor Bello, as chairman. The Audu/Faleke faction, on its part, re-elected the outgoing state chairman of the party, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo. He and 34 other outgoing executive members were elected by affirmation by delegates at the congress.

Adamawa State also witnessed parallel primaries with Governor Jibrilla Bindow and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustafa on one side, while ex-SGF, Engr. Babachir Lawal, Senator Abdulazeez Nyako and Senator Abubakar MoAllahyidi, led another faction.

It was the same story in Ondo State, where two sets of executives were elected. While the acting chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, was elected at the congress attended by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Idowu Otetubi was elected as chairman in the parallel congress.

Unlike other states of the federation, the impact of the minister representing the state in the FEC, Prof. Claudius Daramola, was not felt during the congress.

The Minister of State for Niger Delta is not a political force in the state. Besides the minister, two out of the three senators from the state were absent from the congress. Senators Omotayo Alasoadura (Ondo North) and Ajayi Boroffice (Ondo North) did not attend the congress, which the Governor Akeredolu attended, but Senator Yele Omogunwa (Ondo South) graced the event. It was also confusion in Ebonyi State as the factions in the state elected separate executives from the parallel congresses.
While the faction loyal to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, elected Pastor Eze Nwachukwu as its chairman, the Senator Julius Ucha-led faction elected Dr. Sylvester Nwambe. In Delta State, a faction of the party, led by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Chief Great Ogboru, Chief Frank Kokori, wife of the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Nneamaka Ali, and chairman of the party in the state, Prophet Jones Ode-Erue, conducted its congress on Saturday and returned the immediate past chairman of the party in the state, Prophet Jones Ode-Erue. But, the faction led by the 2015 governorship candidate of the party, Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor, is billed to hold its own congress today.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr, Ibe Kachikwu; the former South-South Vice Chairman of PDP, now a chieftain and a governorship hopeful of the APC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh and a former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, who boycotted Saturday’s congress are expected to participate in today’s exercise. Abia State chapter of the APC, which also witnessed parallel state congresses, saw the emergence of two factional state executive committees.

While the Donatus Nwamkpa-led faction held its congress at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the faction loyal to Chief Ikechi Emenike held its own in a private building on Ossah Road, also in Umuahia. Nwamkpa and Mr. Perfect Okorie were returned as chairman and secretary, respectively, along with the former executive members of his faction. The Emenike-led group, on its part, elected Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe as chairman.

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has mocked the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the conduct of parallel congresses in some states.

The United States, US-based Pastor said APC’s name should be changed to “All Parallel Congress.”

Reacting via Twitter, the former Presidential aide added that recent developments in the party show that APC cannot give peace to Nigeria.

He wrote: “After the conduct of today’s APC Nationwide State Congress, it will be better for the party to change its name to All Parallel Congress because Parallel APC congresses have erupted in almost all the states of the federation. Can a house divided against itself stand? Be the judge!

“Is there any state where APC held its party congress in peace? How can a party without peace give peace to Nigeria? Can you give what you don’t have? Their party is a reflection of what they have done to Nigeria”.

APC Chieftain Begs Jonathan In Open Letter To Buhari, Rubbishes FG

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, where he apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and lamented cases of corruption, battered economy, killings, hunger and injustice under the current administration.

Frank, who is the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, in the open letter released on Sunday in Abuja, titled: “Open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the nation,” said government has shown total disdain for court pronouncements and the enforcement of fundamental human rights of citizens.

While tendering an apology to the former Mr Jonathan for his role in voting him (Jonathan) out in 2015, Mr Frank told Buhari that “under your tenure the rule of law has been replaced with the rule of force. You have injected fear into the society.

“People who voted for you to save them from corruption and ineptitude have been barred from speaking up against the myriads of evil and wicked acts being perpetrated by officials in your government.

“Unfortunately, corruption is in the upward swing under your watch. This is why I had to apologize to Jonathan since events of the last three years have shown the former President was a better leader.

“People freely expressed themselves under Jonathan’s administration without fear of being branded cultists’ sponsors, gunrunners or aiding murderers. But not so under this administration.

“Under Jonathan, Nigerians enjoyed freedom of speech, association and right to hold dissenting views including organizing and partaking in protests against unwelcome government policies. All these are no go areas today.

“Does it mean Jonathan was a better democrat? It is a fact that no member of the APC which was then in the opposition before 2015 was jailed or harassed for expressing dissent.

“However, under this administration, the Senate President is being persecuted, Senator Dino Melaye has been arrested and detained like a common criminal, Senator Matthew Urhroghide had been attached for telling Nigerians that the Federal Government breached the Constitution by paying the sum of $496million for 12 Tucano fighter jets without National Assembly approval; the trial of Senator Isa Misau by the AGF over his face-off with the Inspector General of Police, the persecution of most members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the name of fighting corruption are all examples of intolerance under this administration.

“Mr. President, while your fight against corruption is being promoted as gathering steam leading to an award given to you by the African Union (AU) recently, the allegation of illegal award of $25billion contracts leveled against the GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has not been investigated but rather the malfeasance and shoddy dealing in the NNPC has been swept under the carpet because as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources any probe of the agency will require that you make some explanations.”

While urging Nigerians to wake up and face the current realities “and save Nigeria from total collapse under the jackboots of impunity by this administration,” the Bayelsa born politician also said “history will not be fair to me if I had championed the campaigns against former President Jonathan and now remain silent in the face of anti-democratic tendencies and sheer impunity.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 21ST MAY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ His Presence In You✨

And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them (Acts 19:11-12).

A certain fellow, who wasn’t a Christian and obviously hadn’t received the Holy Spirit, spoke in tongues in a meeting. Stunned at this, someone asked, “How could that be?” Well, it happened. What happened to that fellow was an impartation, similar to that on the handkerchiefs and aprons that were taken from Paul’s body to heal the sick.

For example, I can rub myself on you and particles from my own clothes will come on you; I could hug you and my smell will be on you. That doesn’t mean I’m in you. In the same way, the fact that that fellow spoke in tongues doesn’t mean the Holy Spirit was in him. In Numbers 22:28, we read how a donkey spoke with a man’s voice and forbade the madness of the prophet. Was God living in the donkey? No!

The power of God came on the donkey and it spoke like a man, but that didn’t mean the donkey was filled with the Holy Ghost. There’re things the Spirit of God causes to happen. For example, when we gather as believers in church, there’s a spiritual presence in the room, not because the Holy Ghost sat there physically, but because of His presence in us. That presence is transmitted to that environment through us. We have, in that sense, and in that way, sanctified the place with the presence of God that we carry in us.

The ultimate thing, therefore, isn’t a rub-off or a smear or an impartation of His presence like the aforementioned examples, which wouldn’t last for long, but His indwelling presence in you. When you received the Holy Spirit, the very source of power came to reside in you. Jesus said you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you (Acts 1:8).

You don’t need to seek power from anywhere else, because the very source of power Himself lives in you. Take advantage of His glorious presence in you today. When you’re conscious of this, you’ll certainly walk in the supernatural and live the higher life in Christ.

CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you for your Spirit that lives in me; I’m conscious of your divine presence in me that beautifies my life, and transforms my world. Christ in me makes me more than a conqueror, a victor and an overcomer in this life. Hallelujah!

Further Study:

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

APC Parallel Congresses Targeted At Buhari – Senator Marafa
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2018, 07:23 PM - No Replies

The Senator representing Zamfara central, Kabir Marafa, has claimed that the irregularities at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses, were targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.

Most of APC ward, local government and states congresses were marred by irregularities and violence.

In an interview with PUNCH, the senator said the party leadership set some rules, but was first to break the rules.

“After looking at the whole congresses, the way it started, what the party did and everything, to me, there is a massive conspiracy against the party and against the leader of the party – I mean the president of the country.

“A party is organising a congress, if you look at the first scenario, some people just came up with the idea of one-year tenure extension for members of the national working committee.

“The president was advised that the extension was illegal and that it would portend a serious problem to the success of the party. The president stood his ground and said we should go for elective congresses or consensus where possible.

“The party came up with guidelines on how these congresses should be conducted, but the same party that produced these guidelines was the first to break the rules. In one of the clauses in the guidelines, they said forms should be filled and returned within 24 hours, but the NWC did not even meet with the congress committees until Thursday evening. The committees started going to their stations (states) on Friday.

“The whole thing was like a kind of sabotage, so that this thing will become rancorous and there will be parallel congresses but a set of executive will be established for each state. The whole thing comes to just one thing – sabotage,” Marafa stated.

My wife failed my course as my student — Ahmed Makarfi
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2018, 07:16 PM - No Replies

A former Kaduna State governor and ex-chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, speaks with TOFARATI IGE on his career, politics, family and other issues

What can you recall of your childhood?
I was born and brought up in Makarfi, Kaduna State. My childhood wasn’t really a comfortable one because my mother got separated from my father when I was barely three years old. As a result, we constantly moved from one place to the other until my stepfather took over my welfare and I lived with him until I graduated. It was actually a tough time as my mum died when I was 13. I was so affected by her death that I had to repeat a class. However, I was a hard-working and easy-going person. I used to cut grass and sell to people to feed their animals and I was well known for that.

Which schools did you attend?
For my elementary education, I attended LA Primary School, Makarfi, Kaduna. I then went to Federal Government College, Enugu, for my post-elementary education. From there, I went to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where I did a pre-degree programme before getting a Bachelor in Accounting. I also obtained a Master in Accounting and Finance from the same university.
What were the lessons you learnt from your parents’ early demise?
The sad incidents made me to work harder. I had quite a lot of experiences and maybe they would be shared when I write my autobiography. I learnt to be self-reliant. People may look out for you but it is important to be economically independent; that was why I engaged in activities to generate income for myself early enough. Even when I was in secondary school, I used to take garlic to Enugu to sell. When returning to Kaduna, I would also buy things to sell there.

What were your childhood ambitions?
I was more of a listening person; so, I rarely talked about future ambitions. However, I was usually attentive when people spoke about their ambitions. Some of my peers wanted to be pilots and millionaires. However, I recall that while in secondary school, I used to tell my friends that I foresaw myself being a commissioner, governor and even president. Back then, they used to laugh at me. I also used to point to locations in Makarfi where I would build my house but they used to laugh at me because those places were forests as of then. Right now, I am happy to tell you that my personal residence is in that place I pointed out. By God’s grace, I was able to achieve some of those things I said I would do.
What stirred your interest in politics?
While I was growing up, my father and stepfather were active members of the Northern Elements Progressive Union, which was an opposition party, led by Mallam Aminu Kano back then. I used to observe their activities and I noticed that whenever the Northern People’s Congress came into our town for programmes, we used to remove all the signs of NEPU so that our houses would not be torched. At different times, my father and stepfather were also arrested just because they belonged to the opposition. I used to visit them in the cell and even slept outside sometimes. As a child, I resolved that I would do things differently because I felt it wasn’t fair for people to be hounded just because they had dissenting views. I also surmised that they were treated that way because they were weak economically and in other areas. I then promised that I would study and improve myself economically so that whenever I decided to get involved in politics, I would be able to withstand those kinds of intimidation.

What was the first political position you held?
I had been supporting political activities for a while, though I didn’t show personal interest in running for any office. The first public office I held was during the military era when I was appointed as the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning. I held that office for three years from February 1994 to January 1997. I worked with people like Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), who is now the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service. After that, I went fully into business.
What can you recall of your time as the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning?
We came into office shortly after the Zango-Kataf crisis. Together with the military administrator then, Lawal Jafaru Isa, we travelled the length and breadth of the state, trying to bring peace to the warring communities. As we made those trips, I took record of the developmental needs of the people because there were no roads, no electricity, among other things. When I came into office, there was a project I met on the ground which was to supply villages and hamlets with power. However, I decided that instead of concentrating on a few places, we should connect all the local government headquarters and the villages around them because as of then, two-thirds of the people did not have access to electricity. The mental recording I took of the developmental needs of the state also helped me when I became the governor.
At what point did you decide that you wanted to become governor?
I was one of the five conveners of the Peoples Democratic Party and we were led by Prof. Ango Abdullahi. I didn’t have interest in any political office even though I ran for governor in the APN/ANCP. At that point, we were looking for whom to field for governor and we even sent a delegation to a particular person whose name I wouldn’t mention. The person didn’t accept our invitation to contest the governornorship. My team then said they were not interested in talking to anybody again, that I should run for the office. Since that was the decision of the group, I had to abide by it. That was how I became governor.
Becoming a governor in Nigeria takes a lot of resources. How were you able to pull it off?
When I left the office as a commissioner, I was engaged in a lot of businesses and God was good to me. People even thought I wouldn’t be able to leave the money I was enjoying in business to go into politics. Up till the point I was elected as governor, there was still a lot of money set aside in the campaign fund. I think it was God that made it possible because no moneybag supported me. Of course, a lot of individuals contributed time and energy, which is even more than money.
How were you able to manage the Sharia crisis during your time as governor?
That was the time my Muslim brothers and sisters called me ‘John’ because I tried too much to accommodate Christians. Over time though, both sides realised that I was only interested in achieving peace and stability. Everybody was treated fairly and equitably, without favouring any particular side. That’s what a multi-ethnic society requires.
What were the highlights of your time as governor?
Ninety-five per cent of the road infrastructure and power you see today in Kaduna were done during my tenure. Even the education and health institutions witnessed a lot of transformation during our time.
What were some of the hardest decisions you had to make as governor?
I wouldn’t really call them ‘hard’ decisions; I would rather say difficult. Firstly, to deal with the security situation, we had to evolve a tripod legal system. It was difficult because getting all sides to sign on to it was a herculean task.
The second one was when we wanted to create the chiefdoms and districts. It was difficult because some communities were traditionally independent before the white man came to collapse them into entities they didn’t belong to. Thus, there was history to prove that they were once independent entities. It was also difficult because we dealt with a lot of opposition. Today, that decision is regarded as one that has brought long-lasting peace to the state.
Are you still interested in contesting the Presidency in 2019?
I am currently consulting and before long, a formal statement will come from me. You cannot just wake up and decide to run for Presidency. You have to consult widely to know if you would be well-received. Being well-received doesn’t guarantee you anything but at least, you are assured that you are not acting in isolation.
If you don’t get the PDP’s presidential ticket, will you move to another party?
Not at all! I would not even consider that. The only decision I may have to make would be whether to quit active politics altogether. Not that I would abstain from politics totally but I wouldn’t contest any office.
You came close to clinching the PDP’s presidential ticket in 2007. Why do you think your bid failed?
That was because it was not the right time. I don’t want to go into whatever might have happened. If it was time, nothing could have stopped it. I think we should look forward.
What are your thoughts on restructuring?
I don’t want to politicise the issue but it is something that we cannot run away from. In the PDP, we regard it as one of the most important things that we have to fix. If I am lucky to be elected by Nigerians, I would make sure that we immediately discuss the nature and timeframe for restructuring.
Restructuring is institutional. For a long time, the institutions of state, such as security, have been designed to serve those in power and not the citizens. We must remove them from economic domination.

Many believe that the PDP has nothing new to offer Nigerians in terms of governance. What’s your take on that?
What new thing is the current government offering? The only new thing is that we are going backward; they are not even building on the gains of the past. I am sure that many Nigerians would prefer yesterday to today in terms of the government in power. In school, if a student is asked to repeat a class, such student would learn and try not to repeat the mistakes of the past. We know where we erred and we have learnt our lessons. Now, we are dealing with people who don’t even agree that they are making mistakes. Thus, the issue of them learning and getting better is not there.
There are also reports of internal crisis in the PDP. What’s the true picture of things?
It is the APC that has internal crisis. Stories in the media suggest that there is a lot of wrangling in the party and many people are set to leave. The PDP has gone through its crisis and our trajectory is up.
What were your most notable contributions while you were a Senator?
We changed the pattern of our budgets. Before, people used to look at the budget that was appropriated. Meanwhile, the budget that is appropriated is not the totality of money spent by the government. There were miscellaneous items that were attached to the budget and sometimes, they could be as high as the money that was appropriated. Before, those things were not reflected in the revenue profile and that gave a false picture of the total government expenditure. We changed this and Nigerians can now truly know the total funds expended by government.
Secondly, the investigation of the allegedly missing N49bn was a trying issue. Our report on it wasn’t conclusive because we had to wait for some forensic details which the Auditor General was supposed to give to us to wrap it up. Our report however stated what the true position of things was. When PriceWaterHouseCoopers also worked on it, they didn’t come up with anything far away from what we presented, even though they had a much wider scope. I am sure that Nigerians would come to appreciate what we did.
Some people have said the National Assembly, especially the Senate, is fast becoming a retirement home of sorts for former state governors. What do you think this bodes for the polity?
In the United States, you would find senators and governors becoming presidents. In Nigeria, we have ex-governors going to the National Assembly. Every society has its peculiar characteristics. For me, I think we should refine our electoral system so that if a public office holder is no longer wanted by the people, they can use their votes to take him or her out. It doesn’t matter what you were before, you can only get elected if people have trust in you to represent them.
How would you assess President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance in office?
I am in the opposition. Why should I assess him. My concern is to kick the APC government out. There is no cohesion in the government and that can be seen in the conflicting statements released by them. The executive and legislature are not working well together and you cannot achieve much if you cannot create a conducive political environment for the executive and legislature to thrive. We should also not forget the insecurity across the country, as well as rising unemployment.
You once worked as a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University. What were your takeaways from that period?
It was actually on part-time basis. I was also working in the bank and doing my Master at the same time. It was a rewarding experience and some bank executives have told me that I taught them back in the days. That was also where I met my wife.
Do you have plans to someday return to lecturing?
It would be nice to do so. Those of us who have experience should try as much as possible to impact the younger ones.
Why did you decide to study accounting?
I initially wanted to study Medicine but I got discouraged by the quality of our science teacher in secondary school, who was a Chinese man. He only used to repeat all that was in the textbook on the board for us. I felt he wasn’t doing anything because we could as well just read the textbooks because he didn’t add anything to it. I then took to accounting.
What were some of the most notable moments of your banking career?
The bank failed at some point in the 80s. Before then, I had written quite a number of memos to my bosses then, warning of potential failure if certain things were not adhered to. However, my warnings were ignored and the bank failed. Subsequently, people were taken to tribunals and because of the sensitive position I held, many felt that I would also be taken. However, when investigators studied the records of the banks, they found out that if only my warnings had been adhered to, the bank wouldn’t have failed.
Has your family always supported your political career?
Yes, they have always supported me even though there is apprehension that people don’t always necessarily acknowledge or appreciate sacrifices; so, they tell me to think about myself. However, in public service, you always think of people. I have no regrets over my choice to serve this way.
Have you ever feared for your safety?
Yes, I have and that’s why we had to purchase bullet-proof vehicles when I was governor. We got hold of a recording in which some people identified some high-profile politicians that they were going to assassinate. I made a report to the Presidency and I was immediately advised to get bullet-proof vehicles and enhance the security around me.
What personal qualities have helped you to be successful over the years?
It is very important to be patient because people would say and do all sorts. If we don’t see reasons today, we may come to an agreement tomorrow. Governance requires patience, concentration, fairness and equitability. You should also only say what you would do. Don’t make promises you cannot keep. It is important to be truthful.
Apart from politics, what are your other interests?
I am inching close to 62. I am approaching the age where I have to retire from active politicking, depending on what happens in 2019. I don’t believe in being there no matter your age. When you get to a certain age, you need to pull back and give younger ones a chance. What I am doing right now is to make sure that my children are properly brought up and the whole family is okay. Right now, I am enjoying semi-retirement. I may also decide to go back to the university and lecture.
Do you think we need a young and energetic or old and experienced president?
It depends on the individual. A young man can mess up, likewise an old man. We all have histories and people should study that when it comes to choosing leaders so they would know the capacity of each person.
Who are your role models?
My role models are the pioneer leaders of Nigeria such as Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe.
How often do you get to spend time with your family?
I do that as much as I can afford. Whenever, I am with my family, I put everything on hold; even my phones take a rest.
Can you tell us how exactly you met your wife?
I lost my first wife about 20 years ago. My wife now was actually my student but I never had any romantic thoughts towards her when she was in my class because I didn’t want to compromise. As a matter of fact, she had to retake one of my courses.
What were the qualities that attracted you to her?
She has a good character. I didn’t hear any funny story about her conduct and movement, and I liked that about her. She was the kind of student that could mostly be found whether in class or the library. She was also very respectful.
Would you describe yourself as a romantic man?
I don’t know if I am because I cannot be romantic to myself. My wife is in the best position to tell you if I am romantic or not.
Do you often take your wife on dates?
I always like to spend time with my family, especially my wife and kids. We talk a lot. Our family bonding is excellent.
Are any of your children following your footsteps in politics?
I wouldn’t push my children into any field. They have to make their own choices, provided they get involved in legitimate activities.
How do you like to dress?
I don’t have a particular way of dressing. I am not really a fashionable guy.
How do you relax?
I unwind by spending time with my family. I also spend time with friends.

You Will End Up In A Casket’ – Davido Warned Over Involvement In SA Cult Clash

Davido‘s name has been linked to cult activities in South Africa. The singer has been accused of sponsoring Romeo, the Nigerian man who was recently killed in a cult clash in SA.
It was recently reported that a Nigerian man named Romeo lost his life in a South African cult clash. New report has it that Romeo’s death was a retaliation by loyalists of another late Nigerian man named Aro, who was killed in SA a while ago.
A certain @Culbary Williams made a post on social media, narrating how the late Romeo worked for Davido and how the singer tasked him to make a kill that eventually led to his (Romeo’s) death.
In reaction to the post, another social media user confirmed the story and broadened the narrative, warning Davido to be careful, especially whenever he is in SA, because he (Davido) is a hard target for cult members in the country.

Ahmed Makarfi, former National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed what he plans to do if he becomes President in 2019.

The former Kaduna State Governor said he would ensure the restructuring of Nigeria with immediate effect.
Makarfi also lamented that government institutions have been designed to serve those in power and not the citizens.

He told Punch: “I don’t want to politicise the issue but it is something that we cannot run away from. In the PDP, we regard it as one of the most important things that we have to fix.
“If I am lucky to be elected by Nigerians, I would make sure that we immediately discuss the nature and timeframe for restructuring.
“Restructuring is institutional. For a long time, the institutions of state, such as security, have been designed to serve those in power and not the citizens. We must remove them from economic domination.

“What new thing is the current government offering? The only new thing is that we are going backward; they are not even building on the gains of the past. I am sure that many Nigerians would prefer yesterday to today in terms of the government in power.
“In school, if a student is asked to repeat a class, such student would learn and try not to repeat the mistakes of the past. We know where we erred and we have learnt our lessons.
“Now, we are dealing with people who don’t even agree that they are making mistakes. Thus, the issue of them learning and getting better is not there.”

Rivers State man, Vaughn Itemuagbor, narrates to Gbenga Adeniji how operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad allegedly manhandled and extorted N150,000 from him to secure his release after he was heavily tortured recently

Tell us briefly about yourself.
I am an IT consultant, software programmer and founder of multiple start-ups based both in Nigeria and the United States – convertproof, mobimatic, Irokoweb and snapilabs.
You narrated via a Facebook post that you once had a terrible encounter with SARS officers in Rivers State before the second one. What happened during the first one?
I was going to our annex office in an area in Port Harcourt in March this year when I was stopped by some SARS operatives on a routine stop and search. I was asked who I was and my occupation. I introduced myself and what my profession was.
But one of them said I wasn’t saying the truth and that I should follow them to their office for further questioning. I did as instructed. But when I got to their office, I insisted on knowing what my offence was but I got a slap from one of them.
I was with a female friend on that day. After some time and with much pleading, I was released after paying N10,000. They took me to a cash centre within the office to pay them.
What efforts did you make to report the case to the appropriate authorities?
Immediately I left their office, I called the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit number but no one picked the call. I figured it was an isolated incident and wouldn’t happen again.
How did the second one happen?
It was at 9am last Sunday. I was on my way back from where I went for breakfast at an eatery when I noticed a Toyota Corolla behind me. There were some men in it who wore black shirts. They asked me to stop. I initially thought they were kidnappers or robbers until I realised that they were SARS officers. I immediately pulled to a side of the road and wound up the car window. I then said, “Good morning sir” to one of them. He asked me my name and I responded. He then asked what my job was. I told him that I was an IT consultant. He asked for my ID card.
When he took my ID, he said, “So you think you are smart. You are showing us ID card when we know what you do for a living.”
I said, “Sir, I have no idea what you are talking about.” He immediately entered into my vehicle and signalled to two of his colleagues to come along. He said I should drive, that he was taking me to the station. On the way, I asked him what my offence was and why I was being taken to a station. He threatened to slap me if I didn’t continue driving.
What did he do next?
He asked for my phone and I gave it to him. He asked me to unlock it and I did. He then started checking my pictures and messages. I didn’t bother because I felt that once they were sure of who I was they would let me go. But I was wrong.
On getting to the station, I was told to take off my shirt and my trouser and to sit on the floor. They still asked me what I was doing for a living. I reiterated that I was a programmer and IT consultant. The first one asked his colleague if by IT I meant industrial training to which I corrected them that it was information technology. At that point, he gave me two hot slaps and said I thought I was smart and would confess by the time they finished dealing with me.
He asked his colleague to bring handcuffs and immediately put them on my hands after which he left the room. An hour later, he came into the room and asked the other officer with me if I had confessed. That one responded that I was speaking English. He then took a black wooden stick and started hitting me on my body. I did my best to dodge it. That was when I realised that the situation wasn’t the usual. I was determined to withstand the brutality being innocent but I didn’t expect the beatings and slaps.
Did they leave you after the beatings?
He asked his colleague to bring a paper for me to write a statement. I filled basic information like my details and signed. He told me to fill my occupation and I wrote, ‘IT consultant and software programmer.’ He slapped me and ordered that I should write that I was an Internet fraudster.
That was when it dawned on me that I was going nowhere until I did as instructed. But I didn’t implicate myself by writing what I was not. Instead, I went on my knees to beg them to release me that I wasn’t who they thought I was. I told them that I run a legitimate business.
While I was on my knees begging one, an officer who wasn’t part of the team, arrested me came into the room. He told me not to worry and that they wouldn’t use the statement for anything and I should just do as ordered. I had to obey.
When I was told to negotiate for my release, they asked me what I had and I told them I got N30,000 in my account. They said I was joking and that the least they would accept was N1m. I said they would have to kill me to get that because that was all I had.
After pleading, they agreed to N150,000 and told me to call my friends to send the money. It was at that point that they gave me back my phone and started making calls while they stood nearby. It was later that they asked me to write that I gave them a bribe to facilitate my release. They also told me to sign the statement and I did.
But some people felt you shouldn’t have given them the N150,000 since you have nothing to hide. What do you say to this?
While I was with them, a common phrase they kept repeating was, “SARS no be your mate.” These are not people you joke with. There was no negotiation. It was like, “You are a young man. We think you have the money to pay and that’s what you will pay.” After the statement, I was taken outside for negotiation and when I told the officer that I had no money, he corked his rifle and shot thrice into the air close to my ears. I almost fainted. Then, though I earlier claimed I had no money, if I had the N1m they demanded, I would have given them to save my life.
What do you think is responsible for your being a victim of the SARS men twice?
Two factors are reasons for it. I am young and according to one of them, “what do you do at your age to be able to own a car?” But I answered that the money for the car came from IT procurement. He only said, “hmmm!” Also, I work with computers and the Internet. To them, those two indicate Internet fraud.
The photos of yourself which you posted on Facebook showed bruises in some parts of your body. How did you come about the injuries?
The bruises came from the SARS men’s beatings that day.
You said you decided to augment your knowledge from studying plant science with computer programming to realise the dream you envisaged. How do you feel that the dream is being threatened by SARS officers’ brutality?
What is the point in doing more if it will mean you can no longer move around for fear of someone arresting you on suspicion of what you are not?
After studying plant science, I took up software programming via online programmes and eight years down the line, I have become one of the most sought-after software developers in Nigeria. But to the men of SARS and most Nigerians, if you say you make money by working on a computer, it means you are an internet fraudster. Yes, it affects the vision but it is well.
What justice do you seek which you think will ultimately heal your wounds from past and recent encounters with SARS officers?
I just want this brutality to stop. I love the work that SARS operatives are doing in going after Internet fraudsters as that’s the reality in our country. Such people have made life a bit difficult for the tech community in Nigeria. It took me three years to be able to get my first business registered in the US after multiple applications. This is because being a Nigerian or a Nigerian one as a co-founder is a red flag everywhere. I want them to realise that not everyone who works with a computer, young and drive a car is into Internet fraud. If an ID card is presented identifying a person and what they do, there is no need beating them to confess to what they are not.
Recently, there has been a clampdown on Internet fraudsters otherwise called Yahoo boys by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the police. What would be your advice to security agencies in carrying out their duties especially as every flamboyant Nigerian youth is a suspect?
I can only say they should do their job. One can’t claim to be an IT person in this age without having online presence. A google search of anybody’s name, who claims to be in the tech sector, should bring up enough information about that person to justify or disprove the person’s claim. I have trained over 3,000 Nigerians through our Webx training programme which holds every year and for the past five years. A simple google search of my name would have shown that. This is no rocket science.
Police return N150,000 ‘bribe’ to Itemuagbor, detain cops
The Police in Rivers State on Thursday invited IT consultant, Vaughn Itemuagbor, for a discussion on the matter and the N150,000 collected from him by the SARS officers was returned.
Speaking exclusively to SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday, the victim said he got a call from the spokesperson for the police in the state after his attention was drawn to the story online.
He said, “I went there with my lawyer and I narrated my story to him. He was in obvious shock and he immediately took me upstairs to the office of an assistant commissioner of police who in turn said he got a call from the state commissioner of police regarding my ordeal.
“They took the issue seriously. A call was put through to the office of the commander of the FSARS in Rivers State. He immediately ordered a senior officer to take us around the office complex and identify the officers. I was able to identify the officers with the help of a senior police officer.
“Though the officers denied the allegation by saying they had never met me before then, the commander immediately ordered that they be detained pending further investigations and disciplinary action.’’
Itemuagbor stated that the money was returned after he signed the necessary legal documents, noting that the SARS commander in the state personally apologised to him for what he went through.
“I want to use this opportunity to thankPUNCH newspapers, the office of the Rivers State commissioner of police, the spokesperson and the state FSARS Commander, Akin Fakorede, for their immense efforts in helping me find closure to the ordeal,’’ he added.

Woman Tears Her Dress In Public After Herdsman Destroys Cassava Farm
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2018, 03:11 PM - No Replies

It has been tale of woes for farmers in Oke Ogun area of Oyo State as suspected Fulani/ Bororo herdsmen attacks and destruction of lives and hectares of farmlands continue unabated.
The cries of residents of the agrarian community have reached high heavens but the incessant attacks have remained a permanent pain. To many farmers in the area who are still lucky to be alive after suffering unprovoked attacks, they have concluded that the attacks have become what an anonymous poet called “a chameleon excreta onto which they have stepped, and, when they clean, does not go”.
While some farmers came out of the attacks alive, some were not so lucky. They paid the supreme price for accommodating their fellow countrymen who have become terror and unbearable nagging pain to them. Alani Olalere(30) of Eleeti Compound, Isale Oja, Igangan in Ibarapa North area of Oyo, is one such unlucky people who did not live to tell the story. On April 28, he woke up early and went to his farm with the hope of coming back to reunite with his family. But like a green leaf that is yanked off the tree, he was mowed down in his prime by men suspected to be herdsmen.
Herdsmen with their cattle
Unusual of him, he did not return home on time. This prompted his people and fellow farmers to organize a search team. By the time they saw him, he was nearly dead with life threatening machete wounds in his neck. He was hurriedly taken home. He tried to say something but, having lost much blood, he breathed his last after a while.
In the case of Adekunle Oluwole, who lives at Alubata Compound, Isale Oja, Igangan, and who is lucky to be alive, he oscillates between life and death after those he called “Bororo herders” attacked him on his father’s cashew farm.
Narrating his ordeal with blood shot eyes and marks on his body, Oluwole said the heavy rain that fell on May 7 forced him and his uncle to take refuge in the house of some Bororo men. As friendly as his hosts looked, he said they were discussing with the help of an interpreter. As courtesy demands, he said their hosts even offered them a cup of tea which his uncle took with appreciation.
But, before this time, there had been complaints by the family of Oluwole that the herdsmen had been encroaching on their cashew farm which their father left as inheritance for them. So, he and Alhaji Ismaila Olosunde, his uncle, used the opportunity to tell the Bororo men to stay off the farm. Pointing to Oluwole, the son of the owner of the farm, he told the herders that, from now, “the son of the deceased would take over the farm”. Though this infuriated the herders, they did not show it until moments later.
Oluwole further narrated that after the rain had stopped, he went back to his cashew farm to work. “But after few minutes I got to the farm, suddenly, I saw seven Bororo men, led by the interpreter, who surrounded me and threatening to kill me. They said this farm has been sold to them by my dead father, noting that if they did not kill me, I will still be troubling them on the ownership of this farm. ‘So, we are here to kill you’, they said emphatically. Before I could say ‘please’, they had descended on me with sticks. They beat me until I was nearly dead. In my badly beaten state, I saw one of them pick up my cutlass and, as he was about striking me, one of them stopped him. Some breeze blew and I regained strength. I started running.
“I was given a hot chase. As I kept running, I was shouting at the top of my voice, ‘please, rescue me, they want to kill me’. It was my distress call that attracted my uncle who was in another farm. He stopped them and carried me to hospital”.
Mr Adeagbo Taiwo, Secretary of farmers in the area, said the matter was reported to the police after which one of the alleged attackers, Idris Nura, was arrested. “Idris’ dad promised the police to bring the remaining six suspects to the police station. But, up till now (last Wednesday), he has not shown up as promised”.
Mr Daniel Sunday Orisabukola, in his own account, narrated how his eight acres of cassava farm at Arigba Village, in Ibarapa East area of the state, was destroyed not by the cattle but allegedly by a Bororo man, he identified as Imuoru. According to him, “When the herder discovered I had laced my cassava farm with poison, he was annoyed and asked me why. He just came to the farm cutting down and uprooting all cassava stems and tubers that were eight months old.”
Also, in a video of one of the attacks, an unidentified woman, whose farm has allegedly been completely destroyed by herdsmen and their cattle, is seen tearing her dress when she discovered the farm she took a loan of N500, 000 to cultivate is gone.
She is heard saying, “My God, what am I seeing? Is this my farm or not. People around, please, help me. I want someone to tell me that this is not the farm I took N500, 000 loan to cultivate. Where are my cassava and maize farms? Eight-acre farm? Imouru has killed me. He first destroyed my maize farm and I accepted my fate with the hope of cushioning the effects of the loss by the profit I get from cassava. Now, see what he has done. I will die.”
The farmers accused the traditional ruler of Igangan, the Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Olawuyi Adeoye, JP, of harbouring Bororo men. The two phone numbers of the monarch did not connect after several efforts to reach him.
But while reacting to the allegations, the Seriki Fulani in the area, Alhaji Salihu Kabiru, said, “I cannot confirm that their (natives) farms were destroyed by Fulani/Bororo. They invited a policeman who came to arrest a Fulani man and the Fulani man said he did not destroy the farms.
“From the information I got, I learnt that a crisis broke out between two factions of Yoruba people and, in the process, the man called Olalere was killed.
“Only two weeks ago, they caught a 12-year-old Fulani/Bororo girl and tied her to a tree where she eventually died. I suspect they even raped her. Nobody is talking about that. As I speak, the two men arrested in connection with the killing of the girl are with the police at Iyaganku, Ibadan. If you are in doubt, the police will tell you. In the case of Olalere, the police are already aware”.
The Public Relations Officer of Oyo State Police Command, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said he would get back to Sunday Vanguard as soon as he got information on the incident

NIGERIAN Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Lagos State Government (LASG) have elected to work together to curb the danger posed by unauthorized high-rise structures scattered around Lagos metropolis.
This collaboration was a resolution from a bilateral meeting between the NCAA Director General and the officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development and Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in the face of real and obvious threat to safe flight operations these structures possess.
The first meeting was held on the 26th of April and another one on the 17th of May, 2018, at the NCAA’s Aviation House Office.
With this synergy, it is expected that the two parastatals of the Lagos State Government will deploy their capacities in clearing all obstructions/obstacles along flight paths within the state. In addition, their resources will be used to spot where other landing facilities are located in Lagos.
These landing facilities include Heliport, Helipad,Helideck and Airstrip.
Therefore, in line with its regulatory functions, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed all intending developers or builders of high-rise structures within the Aerodrome Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) should always apply to the Authority for Aviation Height Clearance (AHC) and Permit.
It was similarly agreed that NCAA will provide the Lagos State agencies with a Flight Path Map to guide them in planning, development and granting of approvals for new structures in the state.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is ready to enter into partnership that will guarantee the safety and security of flight operations.
The Director General was represented at the meetings by the Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS), Engr. Mohammed Odunowo.
Another meeting has been slated to review the operations.

IGP Idris Vs Saraki: Justice Ministry Speaks On Report Linking Senate President
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-20-2018, 02:29 PM - No Replies

The Kwara State Ministry of Justice, on Saturday reacted to reports claiming that some murder suspects recently arrested by the State Police Command in Ilorin and transported to Abuja, named the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, governor Abdulfattah Ahmed, as their sponsors.

A report had claimed that alleged cultists had identified both Saraki and the governor in their confessional statements.

Reacting, however, to the report, the State Ministry of Justice insisted that the alleged cultists never implicated anybody in their confessional statements.
A statement by Jimoh Mumini, the Director of Public Prosecution, Kwara State Ministry of Justice said the allegation was a plot to tarnish the image of imminent personalities and the

DPP maintained that the report was “politically motivated and will definitely fail.”

The statement reads, “The attention of the Kwara State Ministry of Justice has been drawn to a story published by an online medium that the suspected cultists arrested and interrogated by the Police in Ilorin and recommended for trial by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) but suddenly transferred to Police Headquarters, Abuja, had in their statement indicted some top personalities.

“We want to state categorically that there is no iota of truth in the said story. Our belief that the said story is false arose from the fact that the summary of the statement voluntarily made by the suspects and on the basis of which they were recommended for trial in Ilorin is contained in the press statement read by the Police Commissioner on May 10, 2018. We maintain that there was no portion of the press statement where the suspects were said to have indicted any top personality.

“For emphasis, let us restate the fact that on the basis of the statement obtained from the accused, the Police had issued a statement read publicly at the May 10 press conference in the state capital and there was no mention of their naming or implicating any top government official at the state or federal level.

“The State Ministry of Justice had in fact filed charges in the High Court against the accused persons and we stand by the pending charges and the trial process already lawfully initiated in Ilorin.

“We hereby call on members of the public to disregard and ignore the publication as the medium on which it appeared is widely known to suffer credibility problem.

“At no time was any influence, whatsoever, exerted to pervert the course of justice, nor monetary transaction or any exchange of pecuniary benefit made between the learned DPP and the Commissioner of Police with respect to this particular case or any other case for that matter.

“We boldly state that at no time ever since the resumption of duties of the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Kwara State Police Command has there been any opportunity, for the learned DPP to have any discussion, whatsoever, with him.

“Therefore, all insinuations relating to undue influence through offer of gratifications or any other means, made by the discredited online publication are mere figment of the imagination and misguided attempt by the sponsor of the online medium aimed at tarnishing the image of the learned DPP, Mr. JIMOH ADEBIMPE MUMINI Esq. This campaign of calumny against the DPP by the sponsor(s) of the online publication is politically motivated and will definitely fail.

“The Commissioner of police or the authors of the defamatory article aimed at tarnishing the image of the learned DPP are hereby challenged to make public any evidence of any discussion or transaction, whatsoever, between the Commissioner of Police and the learned DPP, MR. J.A MUMINI aimed at influencing or subverting the course of justice in this direction.”
