What Obasanjo, Buhari Should Do – Bode George Reacts To Ex-president’s Claims
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 04:51 PM - No Replies

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and former military governor of Ondo State, Chief Olabode George, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to sheathe their swords in respect of national interest.

The statement is sequel to Obasanjo’s allegation that Buhari administration was planning to frame him up for arrest and detention over his critical views about the government.

Obasanjo had alleged in a statement on Friday that the Buhari-led Government was trying to frame him up so as to be prosecuted and detained.

In reaction, Minister of information, Lai Mohammed said the Buhari administration will not be distracted by “frivolous allegations from any quarter, especially those cleverly choreographed to divert attention from a widely-acclaimed presidential proclamation and to shore up support for a waning and egotistical cause.”

However, George in a statement on Saturday urged both parties to stop the war of attrition, noting that, ”The military do not wash their dirty linens in the open.”

Lamenting about the public spat between the former president and the government, George said, “As a military man, I know these senior officers very well. I have worked at close quarters with the two of them.

“I have no doubt about their selfless commitments to our nation.

“I am appealing to the two personages, as a junior officer, to sheath their swords and resolve their differences behind the curtain. That is the military style. We don’t wash our dirty linens in the open.

“I took Obasanjo’s statement about the threat to his life with conscionable, natural concern.

“I have also read the presidency’s rejoinder, which implied that there is nothing sinister in their motives.”

Why I Refused To Replace Emefiele - President Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 04:48 PM - No Replies

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari says he refused to replace Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), when he took over power because he wanted to give him the opportunity to salvage the economy from its “terrible condition”.

Buhari said this on Friday night when he hosted some of his supporters at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The president also insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) left the country in ruins, challenging anyone to present any evidence that could contradict his claim.

“I said it is on record and I challenge anybody to check from Europe, United States and Asia that between 1999 and 2014, the 16 years of previous administration there was an average of 2.1 million per day of crude oil at the average cost of 100 dollars per barrel,’’ he said.

On the letter former President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote in January, Buhari said Femi Adesina, his spokesman, was angry over it and wanted to reply Obasanjo “but I stopped him for two reasons; first, he is much younger than me and Gen. Obasanjo. Secondly, I am from the same constituency with Gen. Obasanjo.”

He, however, said Lai Mohammed, minister of information, disobeyed’’ his instruction on not replying the former president but that Mohammed did a good job in the end.

Buhari said the reply by the minister showed Nigerians the realities on ground when the current administration came on board in 2015 and its ongoing efforts to revive the “inherited damaged economy”.

“I really appreciate how you choose this time during Ramadan to come from across the country to see and congratulate me for what we were able to do,” he said.

“We were constrained to explain our position when the former head of state wrote a letter; Adesina was agitated and wanted to immediately reply but I didn’t allow him.

“When Lai Mohammed came, I said he shouldn’t and he insisted. He disobeyed me. He said I must allow him to talk; then, of course, being a professionally information person, I listened to him and asked him what are going to say.

“He said he was going to remind Nigerians where we found ourselves when we came in as a government, where we are now, what we have done in between with the resources available to us… he did a good job because a number of people rang me and said Lai Mohammed has done a good job because I went public in several times.”

The president assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to spend more funds to upgrade the nation’s infrastructural facilities.

He said the government had also expended more than N1.3 trillion on capital projects across the country.

Fayose Asked Obj To Submits Himself For Trial

"Submit yourself for probe, your travails not Yoruba"

Fayose to Obasanjo

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, said on Saturday that former President Olusegun Obasanjo should be ready to clear his name of any allegation levelled against him.

The governor also asked the ex-President to stop raising alarm on plot to arrest him by the Federal Government.

He said: “Nigerians are being humiliated every day by President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime which he (Obasanjo) helped to enthrone.”

“Some of us have gone through trials before and we are not afraid of trials even today.”

The governor, who insisted that Obasanjo deserves whatever humiliation he was getting from President Buhari, said “the President can go ahead and arrest the ex-President if he desires but should remember that what goes around comes around.”

“He won’t be President forever too. After all, they have been intimidating and humiliating former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife,” Fayose said.

The governor referred to Page 96 of Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch,” where he wrote “I prefer him (Buhari) to jail me than Jonathan to return to destroy this nation,” noting that “since the ex-President himself said he preferred to be jailed by Buhari and worked for his enthronement, the President can hasten his arrest and imprisonment.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said: “When other Nigerians were at the receiving end of President Buhari’s dictatorship, Obasanjo was going in and out of the Presidential Villa.

“Where was he when Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) was arrested and detained since 2015 despite court orders for his release? When over 1,000 members of the Nigeria’s Islamic Movement were killed in Zaria and their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, arrested and dumped in detention since 2016 despite of court orders, what did Obasanjo do?

“Where was Obasanjo when armed men of the DSS invaded the Ekiti State House Assembly and abducted one of its members? Did Obasanjo travel out of Nigeria when judges were being arrested in the night in a Gestapo manner?”

FG To Sack Unqualified Teachers In Dec. 2019
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 04:44 PM - No Replies

The federal government yesterday said any teacher who fails a Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) prepared by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) before December 2019, would be dismissed from work.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sunny Echono, made the announcement during a computer-based PQE in Abuja. He said the access and quality of teaching and learning must be improved at all levels.

“In the past there was the shortage of teachers and many unqualified persons were taken to fill the gaps. Now, there are many qualified teachers who have been trained and certified and we have put December 2019 for anybody who is not certified as a teacher to be migrated from our classroom. They will find jobs elsewhere,” he said.

He said there are many qualified teachers who are waiting to be employed and that states and the federal government have started giving them jobs.

He said, “we recently employed over 1,000 qualified teachers in unity schools, so we are gradually weeding out the unqualified ones.”

He said government would provide the necessary teaching and learning facilities in public schools.

The Registrar of TRCN, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, said about 22,000 would-be-teachers wrote the exam this month nationwide, including 900 in the FCT. Another exam is scheduled to hold in October.

He said candidates with vision impairment have been registered but that the council was discussing with the Federal Collage of Education (Special), Oyo, to prepare their questions in Braille.

He further stated that the council was working with some institutions to prepare questions in Arabic.

ONSA's N1.2bn: Again, EFCC Goes After Fayose’s Lagos, Abuja Properties
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 04:43 PM - No Replies

Ade Adesomoju

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja for a fresh order of interim forfeiture of six Lagos and Abuja properties linked to the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

Despite that EFCC’s fresh application was filed “ex parte”, a sort of one-sided preliminary proceeding, and the commission’s claim that the properties had been unclaimed, Fayose had, through the law firm of Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), filed a preliminary objection to challenge the forfeiture hearing.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, before whom the fresh application was filed last month, had, on July 20, 2016, granted the EFCC an order of interim forfeiture of the properties for only 45 days.

The commission also subsequently, on November 3, 2016, obtained a similar order from Justice Okon Abang, who was then permanently sitting in the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

With the later redeployment of Justice Abang to Delta State, the EFCC, through its counsel, Mr. Offem Uket, last month, filed the ex parte application, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/388/18, asking Justice Dimgba to “vacate” the earlier order made by Justice Abang and impose a fresh order of interim forfeiture of the properties.

The commission claimed that “the properties are under the possession and control of the EFCC and have remained unclaimed, as no person, including the suspects, has indicated interest in them, after the said properties were marked with the words, ‘UNDER EFCC INVESTIGATION’.”

Four of the properties in question, numbered as Chalets 3, 4, 6 and 9, are each four-bedroomed.

The four chalets are said to be located at Plot 100 Tiamiyu Salvage, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The two other properties are located at 44 Osun Crescent and Plot 1504 Yerdseram Street, both in Maitama, Abuja.

The commission stated as part of the grounds for its fresh application that the properties were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities, involving funds fraudulently transferred from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

It said in the application that the properties were subjects of pending criminal trial involving the funds allegedly transferred from ONSA’s account.

The property at Plot 1504 Yerdseram Street, in Maitama, Abuja, was said to have been acquired in the name of Spotless Investment Limited, a company whose bank account is said to be run by Fayose and his wife.

While the other Abuja property at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, was said to be acquired in the name of one Mrs. Moji Ladeji, the four chalets in Lagos were said to be “acquired in the name of J. J. Technical Limited”.

An associate of the Ekiti State governor, Abiodun Agbele, and Spotless Investment Limited are being prosecuted alongside two other companies on charges involving the sum of N1,219,000,000 said to be part of a total N4,685,723,000,000, allegedly taken fraudulently from ONSA’s account with the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2014.

The two other companies along with whom Agbele and Spotless Investments Limited are being prosecuted are Sylvan Mcnamara Limited, linked to a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, and his sons and De Privateer Limited run by Agbele.

It was alleged that the funds were released in June 2014 to fund Fayose’s governorship election.

While insisting that the properties, which their forfeiture to the Federal Government was being sought were subjects of the ongoing criminal trial, the EFCC explained that the funds from ONSA’s account was fraudulently transferred to Sylvan Mcnamara Limited (Obanikoro’s company).

It said, “The properties sought to be forfeited are reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities derived from funds fraudulently transferred from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the account of Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd.

“The funds transferred to Sylvan Mcnamara Limited were later trailed to the personal accounts and companies associated to Messrs Ayodele Fayose and Abiodun Agbele.

“That there is the need to grant the interim forfeiture order to enable the properties/funds listed in the schedule above to be forfeited to the Federal Government.

“That part of the funds fraudulently transferred from the Office of the National Security Adviser was found to have been used by Spotless Investment Ltd to liquidate a loan facility it had earlier obtained from the bank.”

Last month, a lawyer from Ozekhome’s law firm, Mr. Mr. Godwin Iyinbor, appeared in the case for Fayose “in protest” against the proceedings.

He noted that he had filed a preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the EFCC’s motion ex parte.

Uket, who acknowledged that he had been served Iyinbor’s preliminary objection, objected the protesting lawyer being heard since the motion being considered was ex parte.

But Justice Dimgba said he would hear Iyinbor since the issues raised had to do with the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned till September 27 to hear all pending motions altogether.

Outcry As Saraki, Dogara Sit On Late Legislators Seats
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 04:38 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Hamza Idris, Balarabe Alkassim, Habibu Umar Aminu & Itodo Daniel Sule

Anguish and public outcry have continued to trail the alleged indifference of the National Assembly leadership to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the green light to fill the vacancies created by the demise of two senators and one member of the House of Representatives.

Months after the death of Senator Malam Ali Wakili (APC, Bauchi), Senator Bukar Mustapha (APC, Katsina) and Rep Buba Jibril (APC, Kogi), their seats in the red and green chambers of the National Assembly have remained vacant amidst allegations of conspiracy, ineptitude and outride disrespect for the rule of law.

Wakili died on March 17, Rep Buba Jibril (APC, Kogi) on March 30 and Mustapha on April 4. Valedictory sessions had been held for them, a formal bye-bye in political parlance but short of what the law says to warrant filling the vacuum with new legislators.

The two chambers of the National Assembly are yet to transmit official communication to INEC to kick start the process of electing new lawmakers to represent the affected constituencies.
“Our hands are tied as far as by-elections are concerned in the three constituencies until leaders of the National Assembly officially informed us of the deaths,” a top official of INEC said.

“There is provision in the 1999 Constitution that speaks about vacancies in the legislature and what should be done. Similarly, the Electoral Act 2010 as amended clearly states that INEC can only organise by-elections to fill such vacancies after receiving letters from presiding officers of the National Assembly,” he added.

The Electoral Act said INEC should organize by elections within 90 days of receipt of notice of vacancy from the national or state assembly as the case may be; but was silent on what the electoral empire should do in the event the legislative arm did not give formal announcement.

Lawyers, activists, constituents and prospective aspirants have continued to express outrage over the development, saying something must be done to also check the “overstretching powers of the National Assembly.”

“The absence of the three legislators in the National Assembly means the constituencies they were representing are being shot-changed,” said Barrister Aminu Yunus, a legal practitioner based in Abuja.
“The Constitution of Nigeria is very clear about representation in the National Assembly and there is procedure in filling the vacancies during elections or when there is a recall or death.

“But there is a lacuna because the same constitution did not give time frame as to when the legislature must transmit a letter to the leadership of the assembly.

“And sadly, some presiding officers are taking advantage of this gap to hold many people to ransom; I might be wrong but if you take Bauchi for instance, Dogara who is not in good terms with his governor would not want the by election to hold because the tendency is that it is the governor’s preferred candidate that would win,” he said.

He added that the leadership of the National Assembly was also overwhelmed by their personal problems.

“I see no reason why vacancies would not be declared; I am sure INEC is ready to hold the by elections because it had conducted more than 100 off seasons elections after the 2015 general elections,” he said.

Aspirants from various political parties vying for tickets to fill the vacancies have decried “unnecessary delay” by the National Assembly in declaring the seats vacant to pave the way for by-election.

Some politicians eying the vacant Bauchi South Senatorial district seat following the death of Senator Wakili have expressed concern over the delay which, they said, has made it impossible for INEC to conduct by election.

About 30 aspirants across various political parties are now vying for the seat vacated by Senator Wakili.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Sunday, one of the aspirants on the platform of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Barr Hussaini Umar, said the delay was unnecessary looking at the importance of representation in democracy.

“Well, I am still hopeful that the by-election will hold. We are waiting to see what will happen, may be after the Fasting is over. After that period, if the National Assembly fails to transmit to INEC about the vacancy, then we know something is wrong.

“I know that there are three cases of vacancies at the National Assembly, there is nothing suspicious yet. However, if the other two were attended to and ours was left out, we would be compelled to suspect something. We are, however, not happy with the delay,” he added.

Another aspirant on the platform of the ruling APC, Barr Lawal Ibrahim, said the issue of the National Assembly transmitting letter to INEC did not even arise as it was not a constitutional provision but something brought in from somewhere.

Lawal, who contested for the ticket with late Wakili in 2015, said INEC should have initiated the process and notified the National Assembly about its intention to conduct the by-election into vacant elective positions after 90 days as stipulated in the constitution.

“There are many things started by late Wakili which need to be completed. There are bills in the Senate for our people but we don’t have anybody there. He has done a lot for the people and that is what we want to continue.

“Our people are now not represented. We are not happy with the delay, because, if there was no delay, we would have conducted party primaries by now and all parties would have forwarded their candidates to the electoral empire,” he said.

In Katsina State, Ibrahim Zakari, who is an aspirant for Daura zone senatorial seat under the APC to replace late Senator Mustapha Bukar, appealed to the Senate to declare the seat vacant so that the right thing could be done.

“This appeal is not because of my aspiration for the seat but for the interest of my zone and Katsina at large,” he said.

According to him, failure to fill the vacant seat was against the dictates of the Nigerian Constitution. “It is not a do or die affair but these places must be represented at the Senate and House of Representatives,” he said.

“Our senator died recently but I am surprised people from Bauchi are silent, the constitution is clear on what needs to be done on such matters,” he added.

And one of the leading aspirants for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency and immediate past Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam, who expressed concern over the delay in declaring the seat vacant, also urged the National Assembly to do the needful to ensure constituents were not denied representation.

Imam, who is currently a member of the ruling APC and member representing Lokoja 1 Constituency at the state Assembly, said it was unfortunate that declaration was not made to enable the people of Kogi/Lokoja find a replacement for their late lawmaker.

“Constitutionally, INEC cannot do anything until they are communicated. This development is further going to eat into the time left for the tenure.

“As stakeholders, we urge the National Assembly to do something urgent so that our people would have representation at the National Assembly,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, a PDP aspirant from Kogi local government, Barr. Abdulrahman Ndakwo Tanko, urged the National Assembly to communicate to INEC as time was already running out.

“The truth of the matter is that ours is a federal constituency that needs to be represented. It is most unfortunate that the voice of our people is no longer heard at all in the National Assembly,” he said.

A source in the management of the National Assembly said they were awaiting the directive of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to act.

“If we get directive, we will act on it by transmitting the declaration of vacancy to INEC,” he said pleading not to be named.

Contacted, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Saraki, Yusuph Olaniyonu, also said he had no comment on the matter.

For Rep Jibril, House spokesman Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa) said it was an administrative matter; and that he wouldn’t know if the communication had been sent to INEC on or not.

Also when contacted, the Director of Information at the National Assembly, Mr Lawrence Agada, similarly said he had no information about the matter.

African Trade Insurance Reports $9.9m Net Profit For 2017
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 01:45 PM - No Replies

The African Trade Insurance (ATI) announced it has achieved $9.9 million in net profit during the 2017 financial year which ended last December. It also reported that gross written premiums and equity rose respectively to $44.8 million and $242.2 million.

Speaking during a press conference, George Otieno (photo), ATI’s Chief Executive, pointed out that the institution considers higher support from member countries, by providing loans at affordable rates, in coming years.

According to him, Africa is currently seeking local solutions to face development challenges such as access to affordable finance. ATI is positioning itself as an indispensable option for African governments.

Let’s note that the institution (founded in 2001) plans to open new offices in Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ethiopia by next year. Last year, it provided insurance coverage on a $159 million loan to Ethiopian Airlines to support fleet expansion.

Foreign Direct Investment To Nigeria Fell By 21% To $3.5 Billion In 2017
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 06-10-2018, 12:24 PM - No Replies

Foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to Africa slumped to $42 billion in 2017, a 21% decline from 2016, according to UNCTAD’s World Investment Report 2018.

Weak oil prices and harmful ongoing macroeconomic effects from the commodity bust saw flows contract in major host African economies.

“The beginnings of a commodity price recovery, as well as advances in interregional cooperation through the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, could encourage stronger FDI flows to Africa in 2018, provided the global policy environment remains supportive,” UNCTAD Director, Division on Investment and Enterprise, James Zhan said.

FDI flows to North Africa were down 4% to $13 billion. Investment in Egypt was down, but the country continued to be the largest recipient in Africa. FDI in Morocco was up 23% to $2.7 billion, including as a result of sizeable investments in the automotive sector.

Lingering effects from the commodity bust weighed on FDI to sub-Saharan Africa, with inflows declining by 28%, to $28.5 billion. FDI flows to Central Africa decreased by 22% to $5.7 billion. FDI to West Africa fell by 11% to $11.3 billion, due to Nigeria’s economy remaining depressed. FDI to Nigeria fell 21% to $3.5 billion.

East Africa, the fastest-growing region in Africa, received $7.6 billion in FDI in 2017, a 3% decline on 2016. Ethiopia absorbed nearly half of this amount, with $3.6 billion (down 10%) and is now the second largest recipient of FDI in Africa. Kenya saw FDI increase to $672 million, up 71%, due to strong domestic demand and inflows in information and communication technology sectors.

In Southern Africa, FDI declined by 66% to $3.8 billion. FDI to South Africa fell 41% to $1.3 billion, due to an underperforming commodity sector and political uncertainty. FDI into Angola turned negative once again (down to -$2.3 billion from $4.1 billion in 2016) as foreign affiliates in the country transferred funds abroad through intra-company loans. In contrast, FDI into Zambia increased, supported by more investment in copper.

Multinational enterprises (MNEs) from developed economies (such as the United States, United Kingdom, and France) still hold the largest FDI stock in Africa. At the same time, developing-economy investors from China and South Africa, followed by Singapore, India and Hong Kong (China), are among the top 10 investors in Africa.

FDI outflows from Africa increased by 8% to $12.1 billion, reflecting a significant increase in outward FDI by South African firms (up 64% to $7.4 billion) and Moroccan firms (up 66% to $960 million). Outward FDI by Nigerian firms, in contrast, remained flat at $1.3 billion, focused almost exclusively on Africa.

FDI inflows to Africa are forecast to increase by about 20% in 2018 to $50 billion. The projection is underpinned by the expectations of a continued modest recovery in commodity prices and strengthened interregional economic cooperation. Yet Africa’s commodity dependence will cause FDI to remain cyclical.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 10TH JUNE.

A LIFE OF DOMINION.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

In the verse above, the Apostle John wasn’t prophesying; he was affirming the life we have in Christ; a life of dominion over satan, the world, and its systems. The Christian is unconquerable; he’s a victor on every count; he’s born into the glory-life, and could never fail.

Read Jesus’ assertion about your impregnable and invincible nature—your authority and dominion in Him: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). In Mark 16:18, He said you shall tread upon serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it’ll have no effect on you. This means you can’t be poisoned. What a life!

He overcame the world and gave us the victory, the power to subdue this world. That’s what John affirms in our opening verse. The word, “overcometh” means to have victory over, to subdue, conquer, and to prevail over. You’ve subdued, tamed and conquered the elements of this world; the circumstances of life; therefore, walk in dominion over them.

The Word doesn’t say, “You’ll overcome if you pray hard enough”; the only criterion is to be born of God and you automatically have power over every crisis, and dominion over circumstances. Distressing situations may come from the enemy—the devil, but be unruffled; in Christ you’ve already been made victorious. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ….”

Never wonder or be baffled by the trials, temptations or challenges that may come your way; in the midst of them all, you’ll always win: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). You have to come to this realization; train and develop yourself in this consciousness.

PRAYER

I’m born of the Word; therefore, my origin is divine. I’ve overcome the world and its failures, hatred, corruption, decadence and limitations. I reign victoriously over circumstances, because Christ is in me; that’s my assurance of a life of ever-increasing glory and eternal prosperity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Psalm 8:4-6 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all [things] under his feet:

Ephesians 1:22-23 And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

10TH JUNE.

I affirm that the grace of God is multiplied in my life. I am the manifestation of the glory of God; His splendour, excellence, and perfection are expressed through me and I walk in the victory, boldness, and dominion of Christ. The eyes of understanding are enlightened; I see the invisible and I am empowered to do the impossible. Hallelujah!

My mind is full of possibilities because the Word of God has given me the mind of Christ. Daily, as I meditate on the Word, I make my way prosperous. My whole being is saturated with the anointing and power of God’s Word, such that thoughts of success, possibilities and glory are inspired within me! I am anointed for such a time as this. Hallelujah!

The unfavorable economic situation in the world isn’t set against me; therefore, I am not moved by what I see or hear!
I am an answer from God; a channel of blessing, through me, the nations of the earth are blessed. I am the seed of Abraham, and it’s my heritage to soar in prosperity even in austere times. I grow stronger by the day, like a cedar in Lebanon, and flourish like the palm tree! Glory to God.

Dispatch Rider Nabbed For Stealing €14,000
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 06-09-2018, 09:59 PM - No Replies

A FedEx dispatch rider identified as Kenneth Amadi, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Rivers State, for reportedly stealing a sum of €14,000 (about N6m).

The dispatch rider was arrested along a colleague, Innocent Nnorom, who allegedly helped him to change the hard currency into naira and got N30,000 from the sum. It was gathered that Kenneth was sent from a Diamond Bank branch in Oyingbo, Port Harcourt to pick up some empty bags at another branch on Ikpere Road.

He reportedly found the money in an envelope left inside one of the bags. However an official who gave the bag to Keneth, called him three days after to ask about the missing envelope. The 37-year-old, who had stopped coming to work, admitted to have found the envelope and promised to return it.

However after he reneged on his promise and relocated from his residence with his wife and their newborn child, the case was subsequently reported to the police.

It was gathered that he used part of the money to rent an apartment, buy clothes, phones, among other items before luck ran out on him on June 1 when he was tracked down at his newly rented apartment through Nnorom.

Confessing to the crime, the dispatch rider told Punch's correspondent that he decided to flee with the money three days after because there was no complaint of missing cash.

“I work for FedEx as a dispatch rider. On Monday, May 21, I was sent from Diamond Bank in Oyingbo to go and pick a bag at the bank’s branch on Ikpere Road. I usually go there every Monday or Wednesday to pick bags. On that Monday, I met with an official who gave me some bags. I wanted to leave with the bags when an envelope fell from one of them. I returned the envelope into the bag and left.

“On my way back to the bank, I opened the envelope and found some money there. It was €14,000. I dropped the bags at the office and kept the money with me, hoping that somebody would call me to ask about the envelope. I was going to the office until Thursday when I stopped. Nobody asked me about the envelope. I then changed part of the euro into naira to pay my rent and some debts.

“An official called to ask if I saw any envelope in the bag; I said yes and promised to return it. I packed out of the house and checked into a hotel with my family for three days. When I was getting calls from the office, we relocated to another hotel and spent three days there before I finally rented an apartment at Igwurita.

“I bought phones, foodstuffs and clothes from the money and bought some drugs for my baby. I gave my mother-in-law and younger brother who came to visit us N20,000 and N3,000 respectively. I gave my friend, Nnorom, N20,000 the first time he helped me to change the currency into naira. I gave him N5,000 each on second and third occasions. I lied to him and my wife that a friend in France sent the money to me. I was at home when the police came to arrest me. Altogether, I have spent about N600,000 from the money.”

We Will Shutdown Aso Rock If Obasanjo Is Touched - ADC
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-09-2018, 08:42 PM - No Replies

The African Democratic Congress , which has been adopted by Obasanjo , has warned the Federal Government that it will shut down the Presidential Villa if Obasanjo is harmed.
The Chairman of the ADC, Chief Okey Nwosu, said this during a telephone interview with our correspondent on Friday.
Nwosu said having failed to deliver on its campaign promises , the Buhari - led government had resorted to hounding opposition members into submission.
He said when Obasanjo was supporting Buhari during the run- up to the 2015 general elections; he was described as an advocate of change by Buhari and his supporters, but the same man was now being treated as a criminal because he was speaking against the government.

The ADC chairman said, “ What we are witnessing is the desperation of a failed government. When you have mediocre persons that are not focused on handling state power , they often go to dictatorial levels to try to achieve their aim but this time, the people of Nigeria and God are on our side and we will do what our country needs.

“ President Obasanjo cannot be touched. When in 2014 and 2015, he was in the vanguard of trying to effect change because of the situation then, they were applauding him as the champion of a new Nigeria .
“ Now that things have gone wrong in the area of security and economy and he is speaking out, they are now chasing the champion of new Nigeria . We will mobilise the whole of Nigeria to take over Aso Rock Villa if the government steps out of line.”
But two civil society organisations, Socio- Economic Rights and Accountability Project and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, said Obasanjo should be ready to face trial if there was any evidence of financial mismanagement traced to his administration .

The SERAP Director , Adetokunbo Mumuni, said the former President ’s alarm of a witch- hunt by President Buhari was unnecessary as the anti -graft agencies must carry out their statutory responsibilities .
Mumuni said, “ The truth of the matter is that Buhari should not be the one to set the EFCC against anybody; the anti -graft agency should do its job , investigate allegations of crime against anybody and begin prosecution. That Obasanjo is crying foul will not stop the agencies from going after him , if indeed there are admissible evidences against him .

“ I don ’t think we should listen to Obasanjo . Rather , we should let the EFCC do what is legally appropriate and prosecute anyone who is supposed to be prosecuted . If Obasanjo has a case to answer , he should be ready to have his day in court under the due process.”
Also the CDHR President , Malachy Ugwummadu , said, “ Obasanjo should not play to the gallery. For me, it will be a huge positive development if this government can muster enough courage to take on Obasanjo .
“ If the government has credible information or evidence to take on Obasanjo , it will clearly show that all the people in the league of former presidents can be taken up .”

Lai Mohammed Disobeyed Me By Replying Obasanjo’s Letter – Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-09-2018, 08:37 PM - No Replies

Quote:PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has said the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed disobeyed him by replying the letter of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Mr Buhari stated this on Friday night when he played host to Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The president who said that his Information Minister disobeyed him however noted that he (Mohammed) did a good job judging from the recommendation he received.

Mr Buhari also hinted two reasons why he prevented one of his aides, Femi Adesina, from replying the Mr Obasanjo. He cited age difference and constituency as his reasons.

“I really appreciate how you choose this time during Ramadan to come from across the country to see and congratulate me for what we were able to do,” Buhari was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to have said.

“We were constrained to explain our position when the former head of state wrote a letter; Adesina was agitated and wanted to immediately reply; I stopped him for two reasons; first, he was much younger than me and Gen. Obasanjo.

“Secondly, I am from the same constituency with Gen. Obasanjo; so, I wouldn’t know how it will affect him if I allow him to go wild or to go public, but when Lai Mohammed came, I said he shouldn’t and he insisted. He disobeyed me.

“He said I must allow him to talk; then, of course, being a professional information person, I listened to him and asked him what are you going to say?

“He said he was going to remind Nigerians where we found ourselves when we came in as a government, where we are now, what we have done in between with the resources available to us.

“And I understand he did a good job because a number of people rang me and said Lai Mohammed has done a good job because I went public several times,” Buhari said.

In his remarks, the leader of the organisation, Abba Ali, who narrated the achievements of the Buhari administration in the last three years, said they were on solidarity visit to the president to further reassure him of their support.

“Icardi knows how to have sex with his friend’s wife.  He does that very well. He can find his friend’s house easily.  He doesn’t need a GPS for that. That’s why Higuaín has to have another chance.”

“You know what bother me? That we worked so hard to earn respect, to be feared. Today, with the exception of Messi, there is no respect for Argentina. Look at the last match against Nigeria. They could have scored 8 on us. You know what would have happened in my day?”

Air Peace crew exposes alleged traffickers of 3-month-old baby

Crew members of Air Peace have foiled an attempt by two women (names withheld) to traffic a three-month-old baby boy on the airline’s Lagos-Banjul flight.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Air Peace, Chris Iwarah, said this in a statement issued on Friday.
Mr Iwarah said that the incident occurred on Monday.
“On Air Peace Lagos-Banjul flight P47560 on June 4, our vigilant and experienced crew observed a baby crying inconsolably.
“The crew members, therefore, approached the supposed mother to breastfeed the crying baby. She declined, giving a flimsy excuse for her decision.
“The alleged mother of the baby eventually asked our crew for water to give to the baby when he would not stop crying.

Buhari Signs Law Stopping VPs Who Complete President’s Tenure

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a constitutional amendment that stops a vice president who completes the term of a president from contesting for the office of the President more than once.

The same is applicable to a deputy governor who completes the term of a state governor.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.

The term of a President or a governor can be aborted by virtue of death, resignation or removal, thereby paving the way for the Vice President or deputy governor to take over.

Enang said the President also signed an amendment to the constitution that grants autonomy to state judiciary and state Houses of Assembly.

According to Enang, the President also signed an amendment that reduced the duration for determining pre-election matters in courts to ensure that such matters do not get into the time of the elections and do not linger thereafter.

He added that another amendment increased the time the Independent National Electoral Commission has to conduct by-election in case of vacancy from the present seven days to 21 days.

Enang said, “I just want to inform you that His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari today (Friday) assented to the Constitution Fourth Alteration Bill which grants financial authonomy and independence to the Houses of Assembly of the respective states and to the Judiciary of the respective states.

“Therefore, upon this signature, the amounts standing to the credit of the judiciary are to now be paid directly to the judiciary of those states and no more through the governors and from the governors.

“And then the amounts standing to the credit of the Houses of Assembly of the respective states are now to be paid directly to the Houses of Assembly of that state for the benefit of the legislators and the management of the state Houses of Assembly of that state. This grants full autonomy now to the Houses of Assembly and judiciary of states.

“Another Act which has come into force today is Constitution Amendment 21 which relates to the determination of pre-elections matters. It has reduced the date and time of determining pre-election matters to ensure that the pre-election matters in court do not get into the time of the elections and do not linger thereafter.

“The relevant section of the Constitution has also been amended by this Act, therefore amending the constitution.

“The other one is Bill 16 which is now an Act. The intent of that Act is to ensure that where a Vice President succeeds the President and where a deputy governor succeeds a governor, he can no more contest for that office more than one more time.

“The effect is that having taken the oath of President once, he can only contest one more time and no more. That is the intent of this amendment.

“The other amendment is Bill 9 now an Act which gives the Independent National Electoral Commission sufficient time to conduct by-election. It has increased the time from seven to 21 days and generally widen the latitude of the INEC to handle election matters upon vacancy.

“These four bills, added to the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Act, have now been assented to by the President and have now become laws.

“The Constitution of Nigeria 1999 as amended is hereby further amended by the assent of the President to these bills today.”

Shi’ites In Abuja Burn Flags Of US And Israel (Photo)

Some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN ) burnt flags of the US and Israel in Abuja on Friday, sparking tension.

Chanting songs and waving flags, the IMN members said they were protesting the killings of their members in Palestine.

The protest marched from the National Mosque to the Julius Berger roundabout in the capital city.

Armed policemen mounted strategic positions to possibly prevent a breakdown of law and order.

‘Down To America’; ‘Free Palestine’; ‘Free Free Zakzaky’; were among the inscription on their placards.

The mob later converged under the bridge, where they displayed the flags of the two countries and set them ablaze.

Human and vehicular movements were disrupted along the popular Wuse market during the protest.

Many people also scuttled to safety when they sighted the aggrieved IMN members.

On different occasions, the sect members have clashed with the police while demanding the release of Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, their leader.

El-Zakzaky was arrested in December 2015 when some of his members allegedly attacked the convoy of Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff.

Frame-up: Atiku Reacts To Obasanjo’s Claim

Quote:FORMER Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to allegation of frame-up by his principal, Olusegun Obasanjo, against the federal government.

Atiku who served under Obasanjo warned warned government against acts he said could aggravate tension in the country.

READ ATIKU’S STATEMENT BELOW:

Statement By former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Alarm Raised By former President Olusegun Obasanjo

I have received with serious concern the purported alert raised by former President Olusegun Obasanjo of an alleged plot by the government to arrest him on trumped up charges.

I am disturbed by this turn of events in our dear country considering the huge price that was paid for us to have democracy.

I wish to advise that government and its agents should retrace their steps to avoid aggravating the already over heated polity.

The alert by President Obasanjo is coming against the backdrop of earlier alerts by some leaders, especially those of the opposition of deliberate and orchestrated attempt to intimidate and frame them up.

I wish to state without equivocation that President Obasanjo is a historical figure in Nigeria’s democracy and that the primary purpose of government is to provide security of lives and property of all citizens and residents irrespective of their status, political affiliation, religious inclination and ethnic leanings.

Our nation has lost so much precious lives and property that we can no longer afford to travel that road again.

I wish to appeal to President Buhari to call the security agencies to order in order to douse the tension in the land.

Atiku Abubakar
Vice President of Nigeria, 1999-2007

"Saraki Treatment Awaits Dogara" - Obasanjo

Quote:By Musa Abdullahi Krishi

A former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, said Speaker Yakubu Dogara may face the kind of harassment by security agencies that Senate President Bukola Saraki is currently facing.

Obasanjo said in a statement that he has received credible information of a plot against the Speaker to give him the Saraki treatment.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo said the plot against the Dogara was in spite of the kind of dedication and commitment he is giving to the APC government.

He said they aim to silence the Speaker and all dissenting voices and prevent them from speaking out against the wanton killings across the country.

“We are currently in a nation where the Number Three citizen is currently being harangued and the Number Four citizen is facing similar threat within the same Government they serve,” he said.

“There is a groundswell of our nationals that live in fear that they could be hounded, harassed, maimed or even killed as the battle for 2019 takes this worrisome dimension,” the statement added.

Dogara was mandated to lead negotiations with the team representing the presidency and the APC led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The National Assembly had on Tuesday held a joint closed-door session where lawmakers passed resolutions on the state of the nation.

Israel/Palestine Crisis: Muslims Protest In Abuja And Ibadan- Photos

Muslims, in Ibadan, protest ‘wrongful occupation’ of Palestinian land by Israel

By By Saheed Salawu on June 8, 2018
SOME Muslims have staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, against the relocation of the United States embassy to Jerusalem and what they called the continued occupation of Palestinian land by Israel.

The protesters, in their scores, carried banners bearing messages that condemned the development in the Middle East. One of the leaders of the protest, coordinator of Al-Quds Foundation, Rasheed Attah, said despite the non-recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the United Nations, the US still went ahead to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

He said Israel had been occupying Palestinian land unlawfully and committing different atrocities against the country since 1948.

Attah called on all peace-loving people of the world and nations with sympathy for justice and human dignity to not only condemn “this act” but sanction Israel, the US and their allies.

“We hereby call on all peace-loving nations of the world, human right groups, civil liberty organisations and all justice-oriented individuals to tread the path of justice and fair play like South Africa and Turkey by calling back home their ambassadors and stopping sitting on the fence in the face of oppression, domination and state terrorism of Israeli government,” he said.

He said not only Muslims are affected by the atrocities regularly being committed by Israel and its allies but Palestinian Christians are not spared as well.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 9TH JUNE.

WISDOM STANDS YOU OUT

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her (Proverbs 4:7-8).

There’s a wisdom from God that’s revealed to us to live by. Jesus functioned in it, and as a result, He completely baffled and dazzled those in His day. He had a different mindset. His words and teachings were different; in most cases, they were in complete antithesis to the Law, and to natural human thinking.

According to the Law, for example, the soul that sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:20), but Jesus manifested the love, mercies and grace of God: “For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Moses taught “An eye for an eye; life for life”; but Jesus came to reveal to us the life and nature of God; the way God thinks—the way that wins—the love-way.

Man had been raised in the natural world to be vengeful, to be insulting and injurious. But Jesus taught that we should love our enemies, pray for, and bless our detractors and persecutors: “…Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

That’s strange to the natural man. Loving your enemies isn’t what you’d naturally like to do. But Jesus came with Kingdom principles: a new way to live. He spoke love, and demonstrated love. Those that heard Him heard Love’s voice. Those He encountered felt Love’s embrace. Even the officers that were sent to arrest Him on a certain occasion, after listening to His teachings, submitted, “…No man ever spoke like this man!” (John 7: 46 NKJV).
Jesus functioned with the wisdom of the just; that’s what you need in your life; that’s what stands you out and makes you a wonder to your world.

PRAYER

Dear Father, you’ve granted me wisdom and understanding, to know and walk in your perfect will. My life is the expression of divine wisdom. Wisdom is heard in my words and seen in my actions today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Proverbs 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, [and] bow thine ear to my understanding:
Matthew 5:38-48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

9TH JUNE.

I affirm that the Word of God is indeed a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path! My heart is full of joy because I’m in the centre of God’s will and purpose for my life. The power of the Spirit overwhelms me today as the Word of God comes forth through me in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs unto the Lord.

The Word gains root in my heart and gains the dominion over my thoughts and actions today, as I make joyful melodies of the Word in my heart unto my Lord. I rejoice exceedingly today with joy unspeakable and full of glory, for the Lord has done great and wondrous things in my life! Thus, my heart rejoices in His goodness, for He has filled my mouth with laughter.

I am strengthened because the joy of the Lord in my spirit is my strength. Gloom, depression, and heaviness are far from me, for I carry an atmosphere of joy with me everywhere I go. Hallelujah! I refuse to worry about anything in this life because I am a child of God, and I know all things work together for my good. No negative thought, comment or situation can distract me from the work God has planned for me to do! I am living every day, to fulfill my destiny in God. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

The best and worst airlines and airports of 2018 INTERNATIONAL
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 10:29 PM - No Replies

INTERNATIONAL - Last summer, on a bucket list trip through Southern Africa, I took a total of six flights with South African Airways. On the first one, a 15-hour trip from New York’s JFK Airport to Johannesburg, my air vent and seat-back screens were both broken. On my next five flights, the situation was only marginally better.
Within a week of my return, a customer service agent at South African Airways received an angry note from me, citing the airline’s outdated planes and unsympathetic flight attendants. Surely, I wasn’t the only one complaining: The company seemed well-versed in responding to inquiries of this nature. Staff apologized quickly and gave me a mileage credit. It didn’t undo the terrible flights, but the swift show of humanity is rare in the aviation industry.

It’s also the reason that the deep-in-debt carrier took the fifth slot in this year’s 2018 AirHelp Score report from  AirHelp, a company that advocates on behalf of air travelers for compensation in cases of delays or cancelations. Its sixth annual survey uses data from the first quarter of the year to rank the 72 international airlines for which the company had statistically significant data.
Overall rankings are based on three factors: on-time performance, quality of service (gleaned from public reviews on an array of reliable websites), and a claims-processing score (which reflects how a company handles customer complaints).

“South African Airlines has a fantastic claims-processing score,” explains Ashley Raiteri, an industry adviser for AirHelp—the airline earned 8.69 points of a possible 10—and it’s also got a good track record of keeping flights on time.
“Irregularities in flights are going to happen,” Raiteri adds. “What’s important is whether the airline has planned for that so they can make the experience less hellish for the consumer.”
With that in mind, here are the best and worst airlines of the year, according to AirHelp, along with their on-time performance records.
The 10 Best Airlines of 2018
1. Qatar Airways (89 percent on-time performance)
2. Lufthansa (76 percent)
3. Etihad Airways (86 percent)
4. Singapore Airlines (85 percent)
5. South African Airways (85 percent)
6. Austrian Airlines (80 percent)
7. Aegean Airlines (90 percent)
8. Qantas (89 percent)
9. Air Malta (86 percent)
10. Virgin Atlantic (82 percent )

The Worst Airlines of 2018

63. Jet Airways (65 percent on-time performance)
64. Aerolineas Argentinas (85 percent)
65. Iberia (84 percent)
66. Korean Air (64 percent)
67. Ryanair (86 percent)
68. Air Mauritius (69 percent)
69. EasyJet (79 percent)
70. Pakistan International Airlines (61 percent)
71. Royal Jordanian Airlines (83 percent)
72. WOW Air (75 percent)

Surprises exist on both lists. Iberia—which ranked among the best airlines on a similar report from FlightStats last year that was configured purely according to on-time performance—appears in AirHelp’s worst airlines list, a reflection of its poor “claim processing score”.
KLM and Emirates, airlines with passionate fan bases, ranked 11th and 16th, respectively, just outside the top 10.
U.S. carriers didn’t fare particularly well: American Airlines Inc. performed best, at 23rd of 72, followed by United Airlines Inc. in 37th place and Delta Air Lines, Inc. in 47th place.
“Delta has a great on-time performance, but in dealing with claims, more often than not they either ignore them or reject them out of hand, forcing customers into court in order to pay what they’re legally obligated to pay,” Raiteri tells Bloomberg. While the three airlines won nearly identical scores in “quality of service,” Delta was the category leader by a few tenths of a point.
While budget carriers did not fare well, with Ryanair DAC, EasyJet Airline Co., and WOW Air all appearing among the bottom 10 airlines, there was one exception: Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA ranked 12th overall, reflecting a 76 percent on-time record and very good scores both for claims processing and quality of service.
The data concerning best and worst airports contain similar surprises. No American hubs were ranked in the top 30—Seattle-Tacoma took the domestic lead, in the 33rd slot—while a large number of Brazilian airports dominated the charts, something Raiteri attributes to good local weather and a “hub and spoke” route network that keeps flights moving smoothly and on time.
AirHelp’s data for airports cover 141 destinations. They factor in on-time performance, quality of service, and online consumer sentiment, but its rankings heavily favor the first two criteria.
“Different airports deal with different problems,” Raiteri explains, saying that Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta has recently battled a series of power outages, while airports in Scandinavia tend to get knocked for weather delays, despite their sleek looks and efficient service.
“In some places, the local culture can leave people feeling cold,” Raiteri adds, describing the direct style of security agents in northern Europe. Here are the best and worst airports of 2018.
The 10 Best Airports of 2018
1. Hamad International Airport, Doha (DOH)
2. Athens International Airport, Athens (ATH)
3. Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Tokyo (HND)
4. Cologne Bonn Airport, Cologne, Germany (CGN)
5. Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore (SIN)
6. Nagoya Chubu Centrair Airport, Nagoya, Japan (NGO)
7. Viracopos International Airport, Campinas, Brazil (VCP)
8. Amman Queen Alia Airport, Amman, Jordan (AMM)
9. Guararapes-Gilberto Freyre International Airport, Recife, Brazil (REC)
10. Quito International Airport, Quito, Ecuador (UIO)

The Worst Airports of 2018

132. Eindhoven Airport, Eindhoven, Netherlands (EIN)
133. Bordeaux Merignac, Bordeaux, France (BOD)
134. Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh (EDI)
135. Boryspil International Airport, Kiev, Ukraine (KBP)
136. Manchester Airport, Manchester, United Kingdom (MAN)
137. Stockholm Bromma Airport, Stockholm (BMA)
138. Paris Orly, Paris (ORY)
139. Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport, Lyon, France (LYS)
140. London Stansted Airport, London (STN)
141. Kuwait International Airport, Farwaniya, Kuwait (KWI)

One note of optimism: Raiteri says most airlines and airports that descended in the rankings this year did so because the marketplace is becoming more competitive, not because their individual performance is declining.
“What we mostly see is improvement, to be honest,” he tells Bloomberg. “Most airlines have been late to recognising their responsibility, but after all the publicity that United got last year, we’re seeing airlines taking a much different approach to dealing with passengers.”
For both airlines and airports, he says, “We don’t see folks falling in rank due to poor performance, but because another entity is doing better and pushing them down.” Consider it a silver lining the next time you’re stranded at the gate.

Two-Storey Building Collapses In Zaria, Four People Dead (Photos)

A two storey building under construction collapsed today in Unguwar kaya in Zaria. Two eye witness say 4- 8 lifeless body were removed under the rubble. Two people were rescued. A number of people are still unaccounted for.

From my investigation on site Y10 and 8 rebars were used for the slab instead of Y12. For the beam and Column Y12 were used instead of 16.
As a Builder I suggest the client and the owner should be hanged to death. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

IGP Idris Drags Saraki, Senate To Court

Inspector General of Police, "Ibrahim Idris", yesterday, dragged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and the Senate before the Federal High Court in Abuja for declaring him an enemy of democracy..

It will be recalled that Senate had in the said resolution, declared the police boss as unfit for any public office, following his repeated refusal to appear before it to answer questions pertaining to the spate of killings across the country and the inhuman treatment allegedly meted out on the lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye.

However, the IGP dismissed the resolution against him as a deliberate blackmail and witch-hunt, insisting he had the backing of the law to send a senior officer of the force of the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police or an Assistant Inspector-General of Police to represent him before the senate...

Obasanjo: "Buhari Planning To Frame Me Up & To Seize My International Passport"
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 09:59 PM - No Replies

Quote:FORMER President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has accused incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of planning to frame him up.

Mr Obasanjo made the allegation on Friday in a statement signed by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi.

Akinyemi dispatched the statements to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The former president quoting his anonymous sources said his name was on the Watch List of Buhari’s administration.

Obasanjo said the security of his life cannot be guaranteed with the government’s latest move against him.

Obasanjo raising the alarm said since his State-of-the-Nation Special Statement on January 23, 2018, “the Federal Government had embarked on desperate efforts to frustrate, intimidate and blackmail him into abandoning what he termed ‘divine mandate to protect the rights of the people to better life and living'”.

The former Nigerian leader had urged the president not to seek a second term in office, citing underperformance. His advise has been waved away by Mr Buhari who has declared his intention to run in the 2019 election.

Mr Buhari recently accused Obasanjo of frittering away $16 billion on phoney electricity projects. Mr Obasanjo dismissed the claim saying the president was ignorant.

READ OBASANJO'S STATEMENT BELOW:

“Since Chief Olusegun Obasanjo declared in his State-of-the-Nation Special Statement on January 23, 2018, the desperation to frustrate, intimidate and blackmail him into abandoning his divine mandate to protect the rights of the people to better life and living continued unabated and has even taken a bizarre dimension.

“Impeccable security sources have alleged Chief Obasanjo’s name is on their Watch List and that the security of his life cannot be guaranteed.

“According to these informants, many of who are in the top echelon of the Nation’s security management and close to the corridors of power, the operatives are daily perfecting how to curtail the personal liberties of the former President and hang a crime on him.

“Ordinarily, we would not have dignified these reports with a response but for the fact that many of these informants are not known for flippant and frivolous talks. Secondly, this Government has demonstrably exhibited apathy, and in some cases, encouraged by its conduct, daily loss of lives and property in many States of the country, the office cannot be indifferent.

“We are currently in a nation where the Number Three citizen is currently being harangued and the Number Four citizen is facing similar threat within the same Government they serve. There is a groundswell of our nationals that live in fear that they could be hounded, harassed, maimed or even killed as the battle for 2019 takes this worrisome dimension.

“For Chief Obasanjo, this is a joke carried too far and being someone who do not act on unofficial information, he had cautioned all informants and adopted a wait-and-see attitude to the bestial propositions allegedly being contemplated to cow, cage and embarrass him.

“The content of the alleged beastly designs, it was learnt are two-fold for now. One, to seize his International Passport and clamp him into detention indefinitely, in order to prevent him from further expressing angst on the pervasive mediocrity in the quality of governance, economic management and in the protection of lives and property by the Government. But, since that could expose the Government to a swath of international condemnation, embarrassment and outrage, it is said that another plot being hatched is to cause the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to re-open investigation into the activities of Chief Obasanjo’s administration using false witnesses and documents. This will be a re- enactment of the Abacha era in which Chief Obasanjo was one of the principal victims.

Taming unruly passengers at Nigerian airports
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 08:00 PM - No Replies

[img=323x0]http://s23069.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/airport-departure.jpg[/img]For sometime now, the country’s aviation sector has recorded many instances of passengers who felt aggrieved that the services some airlines provided for them were not enough and decided to take laws into their hands.

Some of such passengers who perhaps forgot that airline business was managed in line with international standard practices, rules and regulations, had chosen to throw caution to the winds to do the unthinkable at the airport

Agreed that the incidents of passengers going on rampage whenever they felt they were not getting value for their money had been in existence, but the contradiction is manifested in their total ignorance of what the law says when a passenger found himself in that condition.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) had come up with a bill it called Passengers’ bill of rights which enables an aggrieved passenger to lodge his complaints to the authority when he/she feels cheated by an airline.
The second part of this bill is that the law also enables an airline that is unnecessarily harassed by a passenger to seek for justice.
Unfortunately, in most cases, such passengers often ignore the simple rules by resulting to self help once there is any crisis forgetting that they can be liable for such actions.

In the aviation parlance, a passenger taking laws into his/her own hands when not satisfied with the services of an airline or any aviation agency is accused of committing an “air rage.”
Air rage is described as unruly or violent behavior of a passenger, caused probably by physiological and/or psychological stresses associated with air travel or when a passenger becomes unruly, angry, or violent on an aircraft during a flight.
The height of the indiscipline is that many of these passengers fight over issues that have to do with safety and natural phenomena;  for how on earth will a passenger be pressuring an airline to take off under an inclement weather because he/she is so much in a hurry to get to a destination?

According to information gathered, this had happened to one or two of the domestic airlines when they  had to delay their flights due to bad weather report from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) which did not go down with some passengers who subsequently unleash havoc on their staff at the airport.

This has become a major occurrence at the country’s airports where passengers mount pressure on airlines to take off or land in a dangerous situation and when the airline insist on standard practices, such passengers then react with shameful behaviour.
This act of indiscipline is not even exempting the so called ‘big fishes’ in the society who believe because they are above the law that they can even order an already airborne flight to return and pick them up.
The irony is that these same Nigerian passengers dare not say a word when they experience such situations onboard or on ground in foreign countries, forgetting that aviation issues are not played based on local pedestals.
The airlines too have their own faults as some of them in many cases attempt to trample on the rights of passengers by refusing to be transparent when there are issues, forgetting that passengers deserve to be given adequate value for their money.
It is on record that some airlines are notorious for late departures and unnecessary flight cancellations due to lack of aircraft or in an attempt to have enough load factor before taking off.
All still the same, the rules of the game should be followed because of the sensitivity and global importance of the airports. In other words, airports and aircraft are not like a market place or motor garage where a genuine or fake aggrieved passenger can begin to flex muscles.
At a point, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) attempted to strengthen the international legal framework to ensure that governments across the world have the necessary legal tools to be able to take action against unruly passengers.
The time has come for the aviation authorities in Nigeria led by the NCAA to seriously look into this menace by prevailing on the National Assembly who the required body to come up with concrete penalties that would be meted out to unruly passengers either at the airport or onboard flights.

Man Cries Out After Falling For This Pretty Fake Customs Official On Facebook
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

A man has raised an alarm after falling victim to the scam of a fake Customs official on Facebook.
It was revealed that a particular lady, who goes by the name Ademola Victoria on Facebook, with a profile picture which depicts her as a customs woman, has been discovered to be nothing but an Internet fraudster.
The fake account holder has been sending friend requests to people, and whoever falls into that carefully arranged scam by confirming her as a friend is liable to automatically become a prospective victim.
A young graduate, who ignorantly fell her victim, narrated to Crime Puzzle reporter how he fell for the scam.
Hear him: “My name is Bankole Olayiwola Babatunde. On May 15, 2018, one lady in customs uniform as her profile picture, Ademola Victoria, sent me a friend request, which I obliged. The next that happened was to ask me if I was interested in a customs job. As job seeker, I answered in the affirmative.
She then asked me to forward my particulars to her; my curriculum vitae (cv), credentials and voter’s card. Since I am in dire need of a job, I did as directed.
“On receipt of my particulars, she sent me a form via whatsapp, telling me to print and fill it, which I did. She thereafter asked me to send the sum of #3,000 into a United Bank for Africa (UBA) account with the following details: Financial Secretary, Ezekiah Imoye Lazarus, 2104136939. Still not suspicious of her wicked intent, I did.
“Thereafter, she told me to open a salary account, where the management would always pay my salaries into after being offered employment. Still not suspicious of her, I tried attempting doing as directed, but didn’t succeed.
However, when she tried finding out if I had opened the account, I answered in the affirmative. She then directed me to send #15,000 for application form. I told her I didn’t have such an amount and pleaded with her to help me. Based on that, she sent me the form.
“What happened next was shocking to me. On Thursday, May 31, 2018, a man, Ayomide, called my father, complaining to him that I had duped him to the tune of #170,000 through a business platform known as ‘bit coin’.
Another person, who gave his name as Segun, called on Monday, June 4, 2018, saying I duped him in the same manner to the tune of #120,000
“It was later I realized that the fraudster had gone into my Facebook account, uploaded my pictures with which he opened another Facebook account in my name, using Bankole Olayiwola Samuel, the name on my voter’s card”. Bankole narrated.
Embittered Bankole has, however, cried out to Nigerians to discountenance whatever Internet business transactions proposed to them in his name, adding that it was a fraudulent ploy to fleece unsuspecting people.

A 37-year-old man, Nurudeen Bakare, went wild on Wednesday, stabbing his 65-year-old mother, Bosede, to death, TheNation said in a report.

He was said to have killed her after rented argument at their Oremeji, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos home. Bakare was said to have been away from home for 12 years before his recent return to the area.

He was said to have accused his mother, popularly called Iya Fali, of sitting on his father’s property, warning that he felt like killing someone. Iya Fali allegedly responded that he would end up in jail if he did.

Shunning his mother’s warning, he allegedly picked up a knife and started stabbing her. As if possessed, he started shouting: “I have killed her! I have killed her!!, I have killed her!!!,” witness said.

When people rushed to the scene, they saw Mrs Bakare in her pool of blood. Some youths immediately grabbed Bakare and started beating him. He reportedly begged them not to kill him, but to call the police.

Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Chike Oti, said Bakare had been arrested and taken to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti, Yaba.

Offa Robberies: I’ve Sent Written Defence To Police, Says Saraki
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 04:47 PM - No Replies

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday, said he had forwarded his written defence to the police on the allegation that he had links with armed robbery suspects arrested over the attacks on banks in Offa, Kwara State.

Saraki made the announcement on his social media platforms.

He wrote, “In line with their request, earlier today the police received my response to their letter on the investigation into the Offa robbery case.”

It was learnt from a source in the Senate that the Senate President involved his lawyers in the drafting of the defence.

When contacted, Saraki’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Yusuph Olaniyonu, confirmed to our correspondent that the defence had been filed. He, however, declined to speak further on the matter.

The multiple attacks on April 5, 2018, had left 33 persons dead, while the suspects had alleged that they were Saraki’s political thugs, an allegation that the Senate President had denied.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, while parading the suspects said the police had given Saraki one week to come forward for questioning.

Saraki had in a statement on Sunday stated that he was ready to honour a formal invitation by the police.

The Senate President, however, alleged that it was a plot to embarrass him. He asked the public to disregard the claim by the police as baseless and another ploy to implicate him by all means.

On Monday, he said he was ready to honour an invitation by the police.

“I have just informed my ADC to get the letter of invitation from @PoliceNG in respect of the allegations raised yesterday — so that I can immediately honour the alleged invitation,” Saraki said on social media.

Later on the same day, Saraki said he had received a letter from the police asking him to make his defence in writing by Wednesday and not to appear in person.

Falana: Buhari Can Confer Honour On Any Nigerian — Dead Or Alive
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 11:18 AM - No Replies

Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says President Muhammadu Buhari is not prohibited by law to confer national honours on deserving Nigerians, dead or alive.

Falana said this on Thursday in reaction to a statement by Alfa Belgore, a former chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), describing as illegal, the conferment of Nigeria’s highest national honour on MKO Abiola, presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 election.

The retired judge said the national honours can not be awarded posthumously, “much less the GCFR”, which is the highest honour in the land.

Falana, however, said the ex-CJN did not refer to any section of the National Honours Act or any other law that has been violated by the president.

“With profound respect to the Honourable Justice Alfa Belgore, the National Honours Act has not prohibited or restricted the powers of the president to confer national honours on deserving Nigerian citizens, dead or alive.

“No doubt, paragraph 2 of the Honours Warrant made pursuant to the National Honours Act provides that ‘a person shall be appointed to a particular rank of an order when he receives from the president in person, at an investiture held for the purpose…’ But paragraph 3 thereof has given the president the unqualified discretion ‘to dispense with the requirement of paragraph 2 in such manner as may be specified in the direction.’

“Therefore, since the national awards conferred on Chief Abiola and Chief Fawehinmi cannot be received by them in person the president may permit their family members to receive same on their behalf.”

Falana also addressed the legality of the June 12 holiday declared by the president, which has been argued to be illegal on the grounds that the approval of the national assembly was not sought and obtained.

He said, “Furthermore, section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act stipulates that in addition to the holidays mentioned in the schedule to the act, the president may appoint a special day to be kept as a public holiday either throughout Nigeria or in any part thereof. It is crystal clear that the president is not required by law to seek and obtain the approval of the national assembly before declaring a public holiday in the country.”

He concluded that in view of the combined effect of the National Honours Act and the Public Holidays Act, the legal validity of the well deserved awards and the historic holiday has not been impugned in any manner whatsoever.

Woman Arrested While Smuggling Marijuana Into Abuja Prison - Picture

@APROKOGIRL

The FCT Command of the Nigerian Prison Service said on Wednesday that it had arrested a female visitor to the Kuje Prison, Ijeoma Joseph, with parcels of items suspected to be Indian hemp.

The command’s spokesman, Chukwuedo Humphrey, made this known in a statement made available to reporters.

According to Mr Humphrey, the substance was concealed in a carton of biscuit.

“The visitor (suspect) was nabbed during a routine search on visitors by the eagle-eyed staff of the medium security prison,” he said.

Mr Humphrey said the suspect claimed that man named Daniel had engaged her to take the package to his brother, Miracle Amechi, an inmate in custody.

He said that the carton of biscuit contained sachets of beverages, shirts and N2,500, adding that the suspect claimed that she did not know the real contents of the carton.

The spokesman said that the suspect had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

He further said that the Controller of the command, Sylvester Nwakuche, had warned visitors against bringing hard drugs to the inmates.

June 12: APP Accuses Buhari Of Plagiarism, Threatens Legal Action
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-08-2018, 11:11 AM - No Replies

Quote:PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of plagiarism on the recent declaration of June 12 as the new democracy day in Nigeria.

Making the allegation on Thursday, the Action Peoples Party (APP) accused Mr Buhari of hijacking its idea on the topic matter.

President Buhari had on Wednesday announced that June 12 will now be celebrated in the country as Democracy Day in honour of Moshood Abiola, who won the annulled presidential election of June 12, 1993.

Mr Abiola, who died in July 1998, will also be conferred with the nation’s highest honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), along side his running mate in that election, Babagana Kingibe, who will be conferred with the second highest honour of Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON).

Mr Abiola was arrested in 1994 in the course of the struggle to claim his mandate and later died in custody in July 1998.

The APP in a statement by its National Chairman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, said the president’s action is a desperate move to woo the South-west and pro-democracy votes. This was the same position the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted while reacting to the declaration.

“APP is shocked to see that the President Buhari-led federal government has now graduated to hijacking ideas of true democrats without giving due credit in a desperate bid to secure lost South West and pro-democracy block votes.

“Few months ago, we launched our party’s healing and national reconciliation agenda, which includes the ceremonial declaration of M.K.O Abiola the winner of the June 12 election and also the enactment of a legislation called the June 12 Act which will declare June 12 of every year as our National democracy day.

“We presented the draft bill to the public on live television to express our readiness to heal the wounds of the past and honour our fallen democratic hero.

“APP is in awe that a president who has not done a single creative thing since his election in 2015 would in his desperation to woo South West and pro-democracy votes attempt to hijack a well-thought out initiative of the APP without giving credit to the initiators of the idea.

“To see Buhari pretend to be on the side of June 12 because of his desperation to garner lost goodwill from South West and pro-democracy block is a joke taken too far when the same president few weeks ago was seen praising the former dictator Abacha whose regime denied Nigeria the chance to have an Abiola presidency,” the APP said.

The party therefore declared it will be taking legal action within 48 hours if the president does not give them credit for their newly launched political manifesto and agenda.

The fight against indecent dressing by the management of Imo State University (IMSU), has taken its full course on campus with the warning that improperly dressed students will henceforth not allowed into the campus. According to Elijah, all personnel of the school security at the main Gate, Extension and Back gate have stepped-up their operations by monitoring students closely even to the extent of going to classes to check if there is any student who is dressed against the rule of the school and has succeeded in sneaking into the lecture halls.

It was observed that the school management has considered indecent dressing as a capital offense in the campus and has decided to go tough on students putting on crazy jeans, crazy hairstyles, and those who put on slippers to campus.

Hence, students who are caught ‎in the act have their crazy and seductive wears torn into pieces and after wards prevented from entering the campus.

The school deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Nkwam Uwaoma have taken the lead as he was spotted recently enforcing the regulation at different points, from the school Front gate to the Extension.

Woman rains hot water on husband for beating her repeatedly

The police in Lagos have finally arrested a fleeing 32-year-old woman for allegedly pouring a half-bucket of boiling water on her partner, Ike Akachi, and causing him grievous bodily harm on May 29, 2018.
Joy Imeribe, the accused, said in a statement to the police that the incident happened following a quarrel with Mr Akachi at their home in Ijesha.
According to the police report, Ms Imeribe had been a victim of domestic violence from the man.
“We’ve been in the relationship for 13 years. Although, we are not married, I have four male children for the man,” she said.
According to Ms Imeribe, she had been experiencing ill-treatment from the man for a long time, forcing her to leave their home.
She said she rented an apartment at the Anthony area of Lagos and moved out with their children but Mr Akachi came to plead that they return home.
After returning home, Ms Imeribe said the maltreatment continued.
“What caused the huge fight was the fact that on the day before, I went to Yaba market to buy Okirika clothes (second-hand clothing) to sell at Aswani the following day.
“On getting home, he asked where I was coming from and I responded but he told me to go back to where I was coming from. I didn’t answer and this led to a fight that started around 4p.m.
“He beat me, tied me to the bed, dragged my hair, dragged me in the house and locked the door, this lasted for a long time. In the morning, he started with the fight again, I am one month pregnant.
“So, I defended myself by pouring hot water on him,” she confessed.
Imohimi Edgal, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, said victims of domestic violence should always speak out to avoid incidents such as this. Edgal said the woman would be charged to court after police investigations.

Morning Devotional For Friday 8th June

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 8TH JUNE.

CONFIDENCE IN THE WORD.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth…it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).

The Word of God is trustworthy; it’s living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12 AMPC). God’s desire for us is to be built by the Word; we excel and make progress by the Word. 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” He wants us to accept the Word of God like children. Children are trusting.

Jesus said, “…Truly I say to you, unless you…become like little children [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving], you can never enter the kingdom of heaven [at all]” (Matthew 18:3 AMPC). Exhibiting childlike confidence in the Word doesn’t make you gullible or naïve. Rather, it means you’re smart and functioning in the wisdom of God.

Many make the Word of non-effect in their own lives because they argue with the Word; they always try to rationalize the Word. Children don’t try to rationalize things; they simply act from their standpoint of innocence, trusting the one who’s leading, guiding or instructing them. That’s how we ought to be with the Word.
Jesus said to the Pharisees, “You have made the Word of God of non-effect through your tradition” (Mark 7:13). Don’t hold on to religious opinions, beliefs and thought-pattern
s that are contrary to the Word. Have a childlike delight and hunger for the Word to do what it says.

It doesn’t matter where you’ve been or what has happened to you; you can trust the Word and use it to effect changes in your family, home, finances, academics, and physical body. If sickness tries to attack you, stand firm on the Word. Declare, “I’m healthy and strong, because I have the life of God in me.” If it’s fear, declare, “I’m more than a conqueror; greater is He that’s in me, than he that’s in the world.”
The Word is dependable. Therefore, be bold to speak it forth, and it’ll always prevail.

CONFESSION

The Word of God is working and producing results in me! I’m like a tree by the streams; evergreen, bearing luscious fruits, because the Word of God is my life and sustenance. I live in divine health, supernatural abundance, and in continuous victory and prosperity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Matthew 18:3-4 AMPC And said, Truly I say to you, unless you repent (change, turn about) and become like little children [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving], you can never enter the kingdom of heaven [at all]. 4 Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving] is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

I affirm that the Word of God is alive in every fibre of my being, every bone of my body, and in every cell of my blood! My life is programmed by the Word of God for the top. I can not think failure, I can not think fear, I can not reason like the poor, I can not think defeat because my mind is renewed by God’s Word.

I don’t get frightened, because there are no fright files in my system, they have all been deleted by the Word of God. Hallelujah! There’s no impossibility in my mind and nothing is ever too late or too critical for me because I function in the place and in the authority of Jesus. I am not ordinary; I am an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. I am seated together with Christ in the place of dominion, authority, and power! I dwell in secret place of the Most High, and I am protected from every wind of evil, violence, and destruction.

My spirit is constantly refreshed and equipped by the Word of God, to produce excellence, and manifest His righteousness. Hallelujah. The Word of God has taken centre stage in my life, and I live each day in the presence of God, where there’s fullness of joy, and I dwell in Christ right hand, where there’s endless pleasure. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

UNN Hostels After A Heavy Rainstorm (Pictured)
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 06-07-2018, 11:06 PM - No Replies

Several students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, have become ‘homeless’ after the roofs of their hostels were blown off during a rainstorm.

The students also lost most of their belongings during the downpour, which commenced late on Sunday night and continued into the early hours of Monday.

Some trees in the campus were also uprooted, or had their branches broken, by the rainstorm.

No life was lost in the incident.

The students affected are mostly those in Okpara and Eni Njoku hostels, which are female and male hostels, respectively.

Our correspondent learnt that most of the students were asleep when the heavy rain, which was accompanied by a strong wind, commenced.

They woke up to discover that they no longer had a roof over their heads, as it rained directly on them and also on their belongings.

Parts of the roof and the woodwork caved in, falling on beds and destroying students’ personal effects.

One of the students, who identified herself simply as Jacinta, told our correspondent on Tuesday that the students in the affected hostels are currently homeless.

“As I am talking to you, we are homeless. Our foams were soaked by the rain, we lost private properties which were damaged by the rain.

“Even electrical appliances got spoiled because, surprisingly, the light was on at the time the rain poured into the rooms although electricity had to be disconnected because some people experienced electric shocks.

“After we managed to put our rain-soaked belongings together, we had to look for places to pass the remainder of the night,” Jacinta said.

It was learnt that, as a temporary measure to alleviate the plight of the affected students, the school authorities have assigned them to other hostels, pending when the roofs would be replaced.

Ensure Shisha Smokers Are Arrested, FG Tells Police

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has called on the police and all other government agencies to enforce the ban on flavoured tobacco products including Shisha.

Adewole said this at a press conference in Abuja on Monday to mark the 2018 world No- Tobacco Day.

Falz "This Is Nigeria": Muslim Against Terror Tackles MURIC

Quote:‘This is Nigeria’ Video: Another Muslim Group Tackles MURIC, defends Falz

A Muslim group known as ‘Muslim Against Terror’ has come to the defence of artiste, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz the Bahd Guy over a recent controversial video he made titled ‘This is Nigeria’.

Falz made headlines on earlier this week after a Muslim group known as the ‘Muslim Rights Concern’ group, MURIC, threatened to sue Falz if he did not pull down the video.

The group says MURIC does not have an understanding of veil usage. MURIC’s issue with the video was the female dancers wearing Hijabs and seen dancing ‘Shaku Shaku’.

Below is a statement in part, from the Muslim Against Terror Group;

“In clear contradiction to what MURIC’s Professor Ishaq Akintola claimed, Islam or Muslim was NEVER mentioned in the video and the veil is not owned by Islam but worn by anyone who so feels, hopefully to the pleasure of Muslims and worn by nuns and sometimes forcibly doused by terrorists on their captors as happened in the Chibok case.

“Where did Ishaq see Islam or Muslim in this video?

“Was this subvert threat of a possible repeat of radical and meaningless, unjustified violence by misguided Islamists in the past, a means of merely defending the Buhari administration possibly negatively affected by the viral video and defending Fulani herder-related terrorism by attempting to present the video as religiously provocative? The video was not.

“If at all the video provoked any religion it was the Christian faith, by ridiculing pastors casting out demons via grabbing female breasts, and also laying direct attacks at pastors involved in the establishment of universities which their congregations cannot attend.”

The group also urged MURIC to focus on the issues raised in the video.

“As regards truths of value in the video, there were very many that seemed not to be digested by Professor Ishaq, including that the people are extremely poor, medical facilities are poor, that we operate a predatory neocolonial-capitalist system fueled on fraud and exploitation, bedeviled with institutionalized corruption, that criminal cases are settled in police stations and not courts, police station closing by six, no electricity, youth work multiple jobs and yet are called lazy by the president.”

May 29 Remains Inauguration Day For Presidents – Senate
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-07-2018, 10:39 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Nigerian Senate on Thursday resolved to take President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration a step further by asking that the official result of the June 12,1993 presidential election be announced.

On Thursday, the Senate while largely supporting the president’s announcement, however, insisted May 29 will continue to be the hand-over date for presidents of Nigeria.

The lawmakers after a lengthy deliberation on the president’s announcement agreed that an alteration of the handover date will require a constitutional amendment.

Since 1999 when the country returned to civil rule, Nigeria has celebrated May 29 as Democracy Day. The date, after every four years, also doubles as the day for the inauguration of newly elected presidents and many state governors.

First to raise the issue on Thursday was Lanre Tejuosho (Ogun-APC) who commended Mr Buhari for the announcements while urging him to also reconcile with the Legislature.

Having come under order 43 of the Senate standing order, the matter was not open for discussion.

“For once, I want to thank the President of Nigeria. I want to say he has done well. This is one time that the President has given a thought to what (Moshood) Abiola and his family went through to fight for this democracy that we enjoy today.

“Going further, there are issues to be addressed so that we can be confident that this is not a Greek gift.”

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said the gesture comes with legal issues which the president must address.

“They are now saying June 12 is now Democracy Day, proposing that in 2019, the president will now be sworn in on the 12th of June. This is illegally impossible.

“A president shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of four years he took the oath of office.

“The implication is that 29th of May remains the date the president will be inaugurated and take oath of office. If they are moving from May 29 to June 12, it means we have to amend this constitution.

“Otherwise, we will be extending tenure of a president beyond what the constitution contemplates. We have to advise the president properly so that we won’t enter a jam next year. We cannot extend it to June 12 without extending the Constitution.”

June 12: Gani Adams Hails Buhari, Asks Him To Restructure Nigeria

Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland on Tuesday said the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to recognise June 12 as Nigeria’s democracy is a welcome development.

He said while President Buhari deserves commendation for this lofty decision, he should take a step further by restructuring the country before the 2019 general election.

“I humbly welcome the decision. It is something we can call true reconciliation. As a Muslim, it is also a gift of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of forgiveness, truth, fair play and loving others the way you love yourself.

” So, I commend the president for this historic decision and at the same time i am imploring him to do more on the basis of restructuring the country before the election so that Nigeria can truly move forward.

"If he can do justice on the issue of restructuring, Nigeria will not only move forward but if he continue in this direction, he will have the support of most progressive-minded Nigerians in future politics,” he said.

Dino Melaye: "MKO Abiola No Longer Nigerian, Cannot Be Made GCFR"
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-07-2018, 10:23 PM - No Replies

Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West, has cautioned President Muhammdu Buhari against breaching the constitution in his latest move of conferring the honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on Moshood Abiola, the widely acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election.

Mr Buhari on June 6, 25 years after the election, directed the honour be conferred on Mr Abiola. He also said June 12 will henceforth be preserved as Nigeria’s Democracy Day to further honour him.

The president also directed Mr Abiola’s running mate, Babagana Kingibe, be conferred with the second highest honour of Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON).

The GCFR was exclusive to presidents and former presidents until President Shehu Shagari conferred it on Obafemi Awolowo in the Second Republic.

Citing Chapter 43(2) of the National Honours Act on Thursday, however, Mr Melaye argued that the act does not allow for conferment of the honours on non-Nigerians.

He claimed that Mr Abiola is dead and that automatically makes him not to be a Nigerian.

He said, “I am a democrat, I believe very sincerely that Chief M.K.O Abiola deserve even more than the president has pronounced because he is a true patriot, philanthropist and should be so decorated.

“But Mr. President, we are governed in the country by the constitution and extant laws. No matter how beautiful a situation is, the law of the land remains the law of the land.”

The lawmaker mentioned a section of the law which he claims buttresses his point.

“Subsection 2 of the act says a person shall be eligible for appointment to any rank or holder unless he is a citizen of Nigeria. A dead man is not a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We should not be emotional about this. The law remains the law.”

Mr Melaye’s interpretation is expected to be faulted by most Nigerians and is not known to have a precedent in any law court.

Mr Melaye also argued that the act provides that such honour be conferred on the recipient in person and since Mr Abiola is dead, he cannot receive the award; a similar argument to that raised by a former chief justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore.

“Subject to the next notice, a person shall be appointed to a particular rank of an order when the president receives him in person,” he said.

“Mr. President, they said in person for us to do what we are supposed to do, we would have to amend the provisions of this act because anything we need to do, we have to do in accordance with the provisions of the law.”

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, announced that his points of order were noted.

Aso Rock's 2018 Budget: N1bn For Clinic, N46m For Generators, N24m For Ranching
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 06-07-2018, 10:21 PM - No Replies

Quote:Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power, will be getting at least N11.5 billion as its allocation in the 2018 budget.

Of that amount, N45.68 million was budgeted for power plants and generator fuel. N45.54 million was budgeted for the same item in the 2017 budget, N140,000 lesser than that of this year.

Also, a total of N1 billion was budgeted for the Aso Rock Medical Centre, while it got N331.7 million during the 2017 fiscal year, thus an extra allocation of N668.2 million.

This is different from the N36.8 million meant for “drugs and medical supplies” for the state house – and yes, the N1 billion covers a sum of N208.3 million meant for the same purpose.

There is also a separate N51.8 million budgeted as “medical expenses” for the seat of power, and another N15.8 million allocated for “digital medical references”.

Last year, TheCable found out that the state house clinic – not used by the president who seeks medical attention abroad – did not have the commonest of medications, paracetamol, syringe, cotton wool etc.

The sum of N907.1 million was budgeted for the purchase of new vehicles for Aso Rock while N165 million would be used for the maintenance of existing ones. In 2017, N100.8 million was used for purchase of new vehicles while N188 million was budgeted for maintenance of available ones.

A total of N28 million was budgeted for the state house ranch as well as for “wildlife conservation capture”, while the garden, “routine floral arrangement” and upgrade of helipad grassfield got N24 million.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 7TH JUNE.

THE WISDOM OF THE JUST.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, AND THE DISOBEDIENT TO THE WISDOM OF THE JUST; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).

“The disobedient” in our opening text, following the original Greek rendering, means one who can’t be persuaded; one who’s headstrong and doesn’t want to go in the right direction. He or she deliberately chooses to do wrong. There’re such people today; They’re unyielding; even when they know the truth, they choose to do otherwise.

They’re unwilling to submit to the Word of God, which is the wisdom of God.
Part of the responsibility of those whom the Lord has sent with His message of truth is to turn the hearts of these disobedient folks to the wisdom of the just. The wisdom of the just refers to the mindset of the righteous. It’s a mind that’s yielded and given to the Word—easily persuaded by the Word to act in conformity to the Word.

Such a person is willing to accept the Word, and to make adjustments on the basis of the Word. That’s functioning in the wisdom of the just. True wisdom is living in, and by God’s Word; being influenced and propelled by the Word to the right thoughts and actions.

1 Peter 4:17 says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that OBEY NOT the gospel of God?” The underlined portion of the preceding verse is the verb of the noun we read in Luke 1:17: “that OBEY NOT.” The Greek word is “Apeitheo,” meaning the disobedient; one who’s willfully disobedient and unbelieving; the foolish. The Bible says, “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God...” (Psalm 14:1 NIV).

Being born again, you have a different mindset: the mindset of the just. Therefore, be swayed and easily moved by the Word of God; take your actions on the basis of the Word. It doesn’t matter how something appears, or that you find it appealing to the senses or your emotions, if the Word of God says otherwise, conform to the Word. Discipline yourself to accept and live by the Word of God only.

PRAYER

Blessed Lord, I’m totally yielded and committed to you. I appreciate the power of your Word in my life. I’ll always be a success, because my decisions and actions are based on your Word. Your wisdom is at work in me, propelling me in the path of greatness, victories, joy and peace, today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

7TH JUNE.

I affirm that my life is full of beauty and I have become a wonder to my world! The Spirit of God is magnifying me in the sight of all men and in places that matter most. I’ve been divinely enabled to walk in prosperity, health, success, and victory. I am different; when I step into a place, things start working because I carry heaven on the inside of me. Irrespective of the heat in the land, I flow in super-abundance because the Lord has brought me to a land that is flowing with milk and honey. Daily, I go out with joy and I am led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills break forth before me in singing, and all the trees of the field clap their hands. Hallelujah!

My portions (field, career, ministry, academic, and family) are blessed of the Lord! I belong to Christ; therefore I am Abraham’s seed and an heir according to the promise! I believe and therefore affirm the word in faith that all things are mine! I refuse to be broke or lack-conscious because I’ve been brought into the place of my inheritance. I’m like a tree by the stream, well-watered and ever flourishing, bearing fruits of righteousness and experiencing luxuriant growth in every area of my life. Truly, the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places and I have a goodly heritage. Blessed be God! Hallelujah!

AIIA Enugu partners WHO on Ebola screening and detection
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation

AKANU Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, as part of efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), has got the cooperation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and reinforced its full-blown thermal screening of all passengers coming in and going out of the international airport.
Mr. Mgbemena Orjiako , AIIA Airport Manager
Airport Manager of AIIA, Enugu, Mr. Mgbemena Orjiako who disclosed this to journalists at the weekend added that the WHO which has assisted in giving sensitization talks with all the agencies in the airport.
According to Mgbemena, the talks which are not only centered on ebola, also extend to other communicable diseases that are possibly moveable through the air or by means of air travel.
“You know air travel is the quickest means of moving around from continent to continent. So if there is a contagious disease of such magnitude it can easily move from country to country. So WHO has been here and has equally assisted us in giving talks on how to tackle it and what to watch out for and what to do to prevent the spread”, Mgbemena said.
On what the airport is doing to avoid any spread, the airport manager said that the Port Health Authority (PHA) in collaboration with other agencies at the airport had held an emergency meeting where they carefully planned on how to forestall Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) at the airport.
He said Enugu airport was very serious on controlling the ebola outbreak in DR Congo because international flights are coming into the airport three times a week.
Mgbemena noted that the airport had also created an area where they can take away any passenger that was discovered to have an abnormal temperature.
“That area in the arrival hall where we keep them and also check their temperature discreetly while they are coming in without their knowing. We also have sanitisers in different corners at the airport where people can wash up themselves”, he said.
According to the manager, there was always a joint monitoring of the movement of passengers into the airport every Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturday, adding that they “pay greater attention to those moving into the airport because most of them may be coming from Addis Ababa but they may be transiting from other areas of the world. So we want to be very cautious and we don’t want anything to go wrong”.
Assuring all air passengers passing through Enugu airport of safety, Mgbemena encouraged them to continue to use the airport as the airport is safe and also has all the necessary navigational aids that will aid safe landing and take-off.
He however, lamented that the only thing the airport is still waiting for, is to add at the two ends of the runway approach light for night landing.
“We do not encourage night landing yet because we have not fixed the approach light. So our operational hours for now is just 12 hours from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. We may be able to do more than that as soon as the issue that surrounds the installation of the approach lights are tidied up.
Meanwhile, the airport manager informed that about 70 per cent of the runway have been remarked and that about uone-third of the runway surface lengthwise have been covered too while work is still going on to cover most part of the runway edges.

IATA, AFRAA sign MoU to advance connectivity, infrastructure development in Africa
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 06-06-2018, 10:05 PM - No Replies

SURMOUNTING challenges of connectivity and building infrastructure in airports around the African continent were among the reasons the world airline body , International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the African Airline Association (AFRAA) signed a memorandum of understanding to further entrench cooperation.
The MoU signed by Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General and CEO, and AFRAA’s Secretary General, Abderahmane Berthe on the sidelines of the 74th IATA Annual General Meeting in Sydney will also deepen relationships in other areas including safety, security, taxes and charges and blocked funds.
Under the MoU, IATA and AFRAA will exchange information, expertise and capabilities and work jointly to: Enhance safety by assisting airlines to successfully implement the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) and IATA
Ground Operations Manual (IGOM);promote regional air connectivity by working jointly with governments to support the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM); encourage data exchange among aviation stakeholders to improve the passenger
experience; enhance security through capacity building; liberate airline funds blocked by governments from repatriation by advising
governments on best practices to clear backlogs.
The MoU will also look at ways of achieving reasonable levels of taxes and charges by helping governments to focus on the long-term social and economic benefits of aviation.
The MoU paves the way for further development in African aviation, which already supports 6.8 million jobs and generates $72.5 billion of economic activity on the continent.
“Strong partnerships are key to fully unlocking aviation’s tremendous economic and social benefits for Africa. This MoU will strengthen IATA’s already close relationship with AFRAA, with a shared commitment to continuous improvements in safety, an effective regulatory framework, and fit-for-purpose infrastructure. Our partnership will help to ensure that global standards and best practices form the backbone of Africa’s aviation growth,” said de Juniac.
Also speaking Berthe said, “AFRAA and IATA share a common vision – the development of a safe, secure and sustainable aviation industry in Africa that facilitates business, trade and tourism and contributes positively to Africa’s economic growth and development. This MoU with IATA will commit both our organizations to work together even closer on the main priorities for African aviation. In particular, we count on IATA to provide the requisite technical support across a number of areas such as improving aviation infrastructure and capacity building with national regulators.”

The project kick-off follows the LAWA Board of Airport Commissioners’ recent approval of the largest tenant improvement award in its history, which cleared the way for the Delta Sky Way at LAX to begin.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Delta CEO Ed Bastian, LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin, LAWA Commissioner Sean Burton and LAWA CEO Deborah Flint celebrated the milestone today at a press conference where they also shared new renderings of the future facility.
“Los Angeles is constantly reaching new heights, and today’s project launch creates jobs and forges global connections,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “The modernization of Terminals 2 and 3 is an investment in our economy and people, and Delta’s partnership is helping to accelerate an era of growth and innovation in Los Angeles.”
“Nearly 10 years ago, we made a commitment to be LA’s premier, premium airline. Today, LAX is one of the most important hubs in our network where we operate more than 170 daily flights and connect more passengers to our partner airlines than anywhere else in the U.S.,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “The Delta Sky Way at LAX project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in and transform the airport experience in partnership with LAWA and the City of Los Angeles. Delta is excited and proud to be leading the way not just in LA but in our hubs across the country, with more than $12 billion in airport infrastructure investments in progress over the next few years.”
“Our vision is a gold-standard airport, and one of our strategic plan goals is delivering exceptional facilities and experiences at the same time,” said LAWA CEO Deborah Flint. “And even though that is no easy feat, I am confident that with the team at Delta and the partnership we have, that we can achieve that vision.”
Building LA’s premier airport experience
Delta and LAWA also released new renderings of the facility today, which show the interior and exterior of the shared “headhouse” of Terminals 2 and 3; the interior, secured side of Terminal 3; and the connector between Terminal 3 and Terminal B, among other perspectives.
When completed, the modern facility will offer more security screening capacity with automated security lanes, more gate-area seating, and a world-class concession program in partnership with Westfield Corporation, in addition to all the amenities that Delta’s customers have come to expect at LAX, including the Delta ONE at LAX check-in space, new Delta Sky Club; and the integrated in-line baggage system. Other key features and benefits include:
A 27-gate complex on Terminals 2 and 3 with a secure connection to Terminal B, enabling Delta and its partners to effectively utilize gates there as well.
Brand new headhouse with centralized lobby, security screening checkpoint, and baggage claim
Completely reconstructed Terminal 3
A convenient bridge connecting Terminals 2, 3, and B on the secure side of the airport, as well as a dedicated baggage recheck and security checkpoint for seamless connection of international to domestic transfers, enabling significantly faster connections
Premium retail and dining lineup
Convenient and contemporary restroom facilities
More access to power in the gate areas
Modern and intuitive signage
State-of-the-art finishes
Emergency power generators for better operational recovery
Connection to the automated people mover, which is expected to be fully operational in 2023
Airfield efficiency including dual taxi lanes
Premium amenities, operational improvements highlight ongoing enhancements to Terminals 2 and 3
Delta has already made a series of enhancements since its relocation to Terminals 2 and 3 in May 2017. LAWA and Westfield introduced a new retail and dining lineup in Terminal 3 in December 2017. Delta opened an interim Delta ONE at LAX reception in November, an exclusive and personalized check-in experience featuring a reception area and private corridor that takes customers directly to the front of the security checkpoint with easy access to TSA Pre-Check and standard lanes. CLEAR is available at Terminals 2 and 3 at LAX, and customers with a CLEAR membership breeze through airport security with just the touch of a finger or blink of an eye. The airline has also installed new padded seats in the gate areas with seat power coming in summer 2018. Finally, expanded space in Terminal 3 for Delta Sky Club guests will open this summer, nearly doubling the number of available seats.
Delta now operates alongside many of its airline partners, including Aeromexico, Virgin Atlantic and WestJet, at LAX. Later, the secure connector to Terminal B will enable seamless access to additional partners, including Air France-KLM, Alitalia, China Eastern, Korean Air and Virgin Australia.
Operational performance has already significantly improved at LAX. From June 2017-March 2018, the airline improved its on-time performance by 16 points versus the same period a year prior*, driven in part by improved taxi times and more efficient tarmac operations from converting the alleyway between T2 and T3 from single- to dual-lane operations, which allows two planes to proceed through the alleyway at the same time. Total taxi times have reduced by more than 8 minutes.

Fayemi: "Fayose Is A Mad Dog & Fraudster, Election Fire Will Consume Him"

Kayode Fayemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, has warned that election “fire” will consume the incumbent State Governor, Ayo Fayose on July 14.

Fayemi warned that Fayose won’t be able to survive the heat of the July 14 election.

Speaking on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Fayemi declared that, “The coming fire will consume Fayose up to the root” as the progressives are determined to take over power from him.

The former Minister of Solid Minerals noted that the task to rescue Ekiti from impunity and bad governance was a collective one.

According to Fayemi, all hands must be on deck to defeat Fayose and his protégé, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Fayemi said: “You know when the heat is turned on our friend, you know how he reacts. The coming fire will consume Fayose up to the root.

“Now, Ekiti people have become butt of jokes as people use to ask Ekiti people that how did we get this mad dog and fraudster as the governor?

“The coming battle is about Ekiti liberation; let us chase this mad dog away first. What I have seen here today shows that God is ready to set Ekiti free from bondage.

“We will give everything it will take us and everything needed to achieve it, God will give us.

“We will not use power but we will only use logistics; we don’t need power, we only need logistics and those logistics will make the election to be free, fair, credible and transparent.

“Although he boasts in the open, Fayose is a coward; I only pity the innocent man who will be dumped at the end but we shall accommodate him back at his lecturing job in Ife after the election.”

Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi & Mark Yari Beaten By Mob In Kaduna (Photos)

There was pandemonium earlier today at Chikun local government area of Kaduna state following the re-scheduled local government election in the area. An attack was launched by some angry protesters on two lawmakers who were allegedly caught with electoral materials.

The accused lawmakers are House of Representatives member, Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi and Member of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mark Yari.

Hundreds of voters in the area protested that the lawmakers, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly came to steal their mandates.

The gate of the Chikun local government secretariat was brought down by the rampaging protesters, who claimed that their preferred party, the PDP had won the polls but was robbed of the mandate.

However, the Hon. Yari said he was innocent, describing the allegation as the handiwork of the opposition, saying that he was molested with an undisclosed amount of money stolen from him by the mob.

Borno IDPs: "Nigerian Soldiers Raped Us In Camps But We Were Forced To Deny It"
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Quote:Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the north-east say they are being suppressed from opening up on the alleged sexual abuse ongoing in their camps.

They have also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to send an independent investigative panel to the camps regarding the issue.

Amnesty International released a report alleging that soldiers and members of civilian joint task force (JTF) demanded sex from IDPs in exchange of food.

The military subsequently led some journalists to various IDP camps and at the end, they said no case of sexual abuse was discovered.

“I have interacted with the stakeholders in the camps and they said that the Nigerian armed forces have neither molested, sexually assaulted nor raped any IDP as alleged by Amnesty International’s recent concocted report,” John Agim, acting director of defence information, said during the visit.

However, the IDPs have said they were asked to say “there were no issues” in the camp during the visit.

They spoke in a statement issued Monday, under Knifar, a movement of women IDPs in the region, and led by Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, a rights activist.

The statement published via the movement’s Twitter handle read: “The military came to Dalori with journalists to ask us displaced women if we were raped. Before the visit, the women were told to say everything is fine, that there are no issues. Is this the way our complaints are handled?

“One of our members was there. She has an 18-month-old son, fathered by a soldier. Too scared and intimidated to speak, she said nothing. No one spoke. Why are we forced to be exposed in such a way?

“It happened to us. It is real. And we formed our group to allow women to get accountability. We have said it before. We are ready to speak but we can not imagine this is the way to do this.”

They asked Buhari to hear their cries and “investigate the soldiers who raped us when we were in Bama.”

“Our children died because there was not enough food, unless we had sex with soldiers,” they said, adding: “We have said it before: we are ready to speak to any investigation team the president sends to us. We only ask it will not be led by soldiers as they are also the ones who abused our women.”

Texas Chukwu, army spokesman, did not answer calls made by TheCable or reply the text message sent to his mobile phone regarding the IDPs’ claim.

Imo Residents Scoop Kerosene With Gallons After Tanker Accident (Photos)

Residents of Owerri, Imo state capital trooped out with their buckets and gallons this morning after a tanker carrying Kerosene product fell down along Port-Harcourt road.

Save for the timely intervention of the Commissioner of Public Safety, his team, the Fire Service Men and Police, it would have been a different story.

With their assistance, the area was cordoned off to avoid any tragedy resulting from the surge of people scooping the product. No life was lost in the process.

The emergency officials evacuated the spilled products and controlled the crowd of residents.

13 Nigerian Yahoo Boys Cry In Philippines After Arrest, 100s Of Laptops Recovere
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Nigerian nationals and a Filipino accomplice have been arrested by the Police over their alleged involvement in an “online scamming syndicate” that victimized Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other nationalities during raids conducted overnight in Imus City in Cavite province.

Philipine Imus City police chief Supt. Audi Madrideo said members of what he described as an “online syndicate” would create fraudulent Facebook accounts, with stolen photos and profiles, and pose as members of the United States military.

Emmanuel Nnandi, a Nigerian national and one of the alleged group leaders, was arrested in an entrapment operation around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in a money transfer outlet in Barangay (village) Tanzang Luma 2. Nandi led authorities to other members of the group who were consequently collared from three apartments in Imus City.
“They would woo their victims by chat. Once hooked, they would promise to send them gifts or money, some as much as $2.5 million, from abroad,” Madrideo said in a phone interview.

The catch, however, was that in order for them to allegedly send the package, the victims had to wire some money first in the guise of shipping or customs fees.

Police found out that the Nigerians had entered the country using student visas. It was allegedly the same group that faced complaints in Pasay City and Las Piñas City before they moved to Cavite province.

Primary School Pupil Rescued From Female Kidnapper In Uganda (Photos)

A primary school student in Uganda has been rescued from a female kidnapper and her male colleague. The primary school student was rescued after being lured by a couple as part of a complex plot organised with intent to kidnap.

Ugandan Police rescued the victim yesterday, June 5th, 2018, and arrested two kidnapping suspects identified as Buyinja Kalisto a resident of Kaboowa and Mariam Nansubuga resident of Kiibe Kalerwe in Uganda.

The suspects reportedly met the victim who seemed stranded and disguising to be having good luck charms. The suspects convinced her to go home, carry all valuable belongings and come with them for luck charms to help her excel in school performance.

Following the recent school sensitization program on kidnaps, the primary school girl decided to alert her family members and close neighbors.

As the suspects tried to secure the quickest means of transport, they were surrounded and beaten to a pulp by the angry mob.

Police was alerted by responsible citizens, who rescued the suspects from the angry mob and took them to Kawempe Referral hospital for medical attention.

The suspects are currently being held at Kawempe Police Station pending arraignment before courts of law.

Mass defection looms in Oyo APC as faction files suit

Olagunju Ojo; state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; his immediate predecessor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala; and state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Akin Oke, during the party’s state congress, held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan... on Saturday. Photo: Governor’s Office

Olufemi Atoyebi, Ibadan
There are indications on Tuesday that aggrieved members of the Unity Forum of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress may defect to another party soon after the National Working Committee recognised Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s candidate, Chief Akin Oke, as the chairman of the party on Monday.
Oke was among the state chairmen that were sworn-in by the party’s NWC in Abuja. He emerged from the congresses held by Ajimobi’s group in Oyo State.

But members of the Unity Forum have dissociated themselves from the decision to inaugurate Oke as the party chairman in the state.

The forum has among its members the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu; Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; a member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina; governorship aspirant in the party, Prof Adeolu Akande; former council chairman, Wasiu Olatunbosun; former Secretary to Oyo State Government and Chairman, Elders Caucus of APC, Dr Busari Adebisi; Chief Michael Jolaoso; former Commissioner for Commerce under ex-governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Kola Balogun; and former Political Adviser to Governor Ajimobi, Fatai Ibikunle.
A communiqué issued at the end of their meeting on Tuesday, which was signed by the secretary, Olatunbosun, and other leaders of the forum, reiterated their position. They also said that they would not be part of a reconciliation arrangement of the governor, describing it as ridiculous and laughable.
The communiqué said, “The effort is ridiculous and laughable. Governor Ajimobi is the problem of APC in Oyo State. How can a problem be the solution? An issue in the crisis is the anti-democratic conduct of the governor in the party. Examples include his decision not to follow the constitution of the party in the election of party candidates for the local government election; his unilateral handpicking of the party’s candidate in the last Ibarapa East House of Assembly bye-election, which culminated in the disgraceful loss of the party and an attempt to impose members of his minority SENACO as executives of the party at the ward, local and state levels.
“It is, therefore, ridiculous and laughable that such a character will expect that serious-minded persons and group like the Unity Forum will take his kangaroo reconciliation with even a pinch of seriousness. Ajimobi is never known for keeping any promise. The entire political landscape of Oyo State and Ajimobi’s political career are littered with carcasses of victims of his deceit. His offer of reconciliation is a poisoned chalice that anyone will accept at his own peril. We reject it.
“We, however, wish to put it on record that in his typical shenanigan, he will parade some men of shady character before his kangaroo reconciliation panel and call them members of the Unity Forum. Whoever buys that fraud does so at his own risk.”
The group said it had filed a suit in court to challenge the position of the NWC and recognition of Oke as chairman.

A prominent member of the forum, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the suit was only instituted to give the party a second chance to reconsider its decision. He said the ultimate option for the members was to defect en-mass to another party. He said the appeal committee did not recommend Oke for the chairmanship position in the state and that what it recommended was reconciliation, fingering the vice-president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, in the upturning of the recommendatio
