RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 30TH MAY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ We Have His Fullness✨

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him (John 3:34).

Some Christians have said only Jesus had the fullness of God’s Spirit, and that the rest of us only have a measure of the Spirit. But in the light of God’s Word, that’s not true.

First, the Bible says of His fullness, referring to Jesus, have we all received, grace heaped upon grace (John 1:16). Moreover, the Holy Spirit, as a person and in His fullness, lives in you, if you’re born again.

Now, the confusion of those who propagate the notion that only Jesus had the Spirit without measure stem from the King James rendering of John 3:34. It says, “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure UNTO HIM.” The underlined words, “unto him,” are actually in parenthesis, meaning that they don’t exist in the original Greek text; they were introduced by the translators, and it’s misleading, because it makes you think that verse is talking about Jesus, whereas it’s not.

The correct rendering is, “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure.” You were sent, just as Jesus was sent of the Father: “Then said Jesus…as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost” (John 20:21-22). You have the “whole” Holy Ghost in you, in His fullness.

Ephesians 3:17-19 talks about you being filled with all the fullness of God. The same is said of Jesus in Colossians 1:19: “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.” If you thought that was something to shout about, read Colossians 2:10; it says, “And ye are complete in him….” In whom are you complete? The preceding verse 9 tells us who: “For in him (Christ Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Blessed be God!

You’re complete in the One in whom all fullness— the fullness of the Deity, the Godhead—dwells; you’re perfected in Him. Meaning that you’re replete with God. You’re the walking, living, tabernacle of God. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Blessed and gracious Father, how great thou art! Thank you for the Holy Spirit who lives in me in His fullness, and the eternal glory He’s brought into my life. I live to love you, to honour you, and to do your will, every day of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

John 1:16 (AMPC) For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Ephesians 1:22-23 And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

30TH MAY.

I affirm that I am anointed with the anointing of Jesus Christ. I am an answer from God! As Jesus is the begotten of the Father, so am I. Daily, I reign in life, exercising dominion over all the forces of nature and authority over circumstances to bring them into union with the Father’s will. My words are backed with power to alter negative situations. Every word that I speak comes to pass.

I am not ordinary; I know my divine origin; I am from Zion, the city of the living God. Therefore, I cannot be subject to the principles of this world’s system. I am a heavenly citizen, seated together with Christ in the heavenly realms! Hallelujah. I take after Jesus because I am born of His Word. As I study and meditate on His Word, I become like Him more and more. I do the same things He does and get His kind of results every day. My life only goes in the direction of the Son of God.

Irrespective of the happenings around the world, I will never fail in life! I can only be a marvel and an outstanding success, just like Jesus. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES NOW

• Be bold to say the same things that God has said concerning you in His Word. That is what takes you beyond salvation, to enjoy the benefits of salvation ~ Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

God bless you.

Air Peace charges passengers to court over violence against crew, malicious damage
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 07:12 PM - No Replies

FOUR passengers who were alleged to have damaged the property of a Nigerian airline, Air Peace at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos were on today charged before Magistrate I.A Abina of a Ogba Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge of malicious damage.
However, two of the four passengers, were missing from court and were alleged to have evaded arraignment and are now at large.
The two arraigned passengers, Mrs. Halima Mohammed and one Mr. Osagie, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
The Police alleged that the defendants had committed the offences on May 26 at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
The passengers are accused of damaging a car belonging to Air Peace and assaulting a pilot while demanding compensation from the airline over the delay of their flight last Friday.
Following an application for bail filed by their counsel, the court granted a N100, 000 bail each to the passengers with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate also fixed May 30 for perfection of bail and July 2 for mention.
The delay incident which was said to have transpired Friday, May 25, 2018 according to informed sources was due to adverse weather reported from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
“Given the development, our teams sent email and text messages to those whose flights were affected, notifying them that their flights had been rescheduled to different times of the day.
One of the flights affected by the adverse weather condition was our 7.40pm Abuja-Lagos service (Flight P47135). All passengers with reservation on the flight were notified at 12.37pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 (the day of the flight – seven hours ahead of the original flight time) through the email and phone contacts they supplied at the point of booking that the flight had been rescheduled till 9.35pm to avoid a situation where they would go to the airport to wait,” an inside source disclosed.
The source said due to the persistent adverse weather, the flight could not operate out of Abuja at 9.35pm. While the wait lasted, all passengers on the flight were duly served refreshment.
However, a particular passenger (one Yusuf Abdul) on board the flight allegedly started inciting others to violence in Abuja. The flight could only take off from Abuja for Lagos at about 11pm.
“Upon landing in Lagos, the same passenger, now joined by five others, incited violence. They refused to disembark after other passengers left the aircraft. All appeals to them to disembark were rebuffed.
The six passengers eventually went to block the exit of the aircraft, insisting that the crew members must compensate them or they (the crew members) would not be allowed to disembark from the aircraft. The intervention of the pilot-in-command did not change the stance of the passengers.
“After holding the crew members on board, the flight for over one hour, Air Peace had to call for the intervention of the aviation security operatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. Appeals by FAAN AVSEC to the passengers to disembark were also rebuffed”, airline source also disclosed to newsmen.
After a struggle with the passengers, FAAN AVSEC operatives were eventually able to rescue Air Peace crew members from the aircraft.
But the passengers allegedly attacked the crew members in the crew bus at the ramp of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, dragging them out of the moving vehicle. Again, FAAN AVSEC’s intervention saved the day.
“But unknown to the crew, the passengers had moved to the arrival area of the airport to ambush and further attack the crew members. Trying to prevent the crew members from leaving the airport, the six passengers smashed the windscreen of the Honda car of one of the crew members and stripped another.
“It was at this point FAAN AVSEC operatives took the passengers in for questioning. The crew members were later invited to make their statement. Again, right before FAAN AVSEC, the passengers kept assaulting the crew members, insisting that they (passengers) were out to bring the airline down.
“FAAN AVSEC operatives later transferred the passengers, crew members and damaged car to the police station close to Arik. The DPO, however, ordered that the matter be transferred to Beesam Police Command,” the source also revealed.

2019: APC May Lose Imo Because Of Okorocha - Former NBA Chairman
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 05:58 PM - No Replies

Quote:
By Phil Okose Onitsha

The All Progressives Congress (APC), may lose its grip on Imo State come the 2019 general election because of the way Governor Rochas Okorocha is running the party as his private enterprise. An APC chieftain and onetime Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Idemili branch, Anambra state, Barr. Ben Okoko, made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen in his office, weekend.

He said: “What is happening in Imo state now is dicey. Governor Rochas Okorocha has been running the APC machinery as his private enterprises and he has been very vocal about who will succeed him.

“By the time he started doing this thing he forgot that some people are professional politicians and that it did not go down well with them and somewhere along the line, when the chips are down, they had to play politics to the best of their ability by grabbing the party machinery” According to him,

“with the latest development and presence of Senator Hope Uzodinma, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, among others, whatever political position Okorocha is targeting at, will be a different ball game as Imo state has intelligent men.

“People are not happy with the goings on in Imo state now. Shortly before the primaries, Senator Ararume has been in the race, Senator Uzodinma joined APC recently, so it is a clash of the titans.

“You don’t have the likes of Uzodinma and Ararume, all in the same party and Governor Okorocha and his team will be directing the affairs of the party, that is the situation now, he noted. He, however, expressed optimism that with the calibre of people in the party now like senators Uzodinma, Ararume and others, APC can still clinch the governor’s seat come 2019, but maintained that the situation remains dicey.

On President Mohammadu Buhari retaining office, he stated that, “Mr. President has not done well and has no moral justification to clinch that position again because the way things are going on, it is like we don’t have security personnel that will quench the incessant killings in Benue and other places.

“For the fact that Mr. President has been looking and watching these people doing what they are doing, it is like either security agencies are not acting on instruction or that there is much to be desired in terms of operation.

“It is not just the Catholic reverend fathers that were killed in their places of worship, some people were killed at Nkpor while they were in the church during the IPOB saga. The security agencies should live up to expectation,” he stated.

Democracy Day: Persecution Of Perceived Enemies Must Stop -saraki
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 05:54 PM - No Replies

NEWS DIGEST – Senate President, Bukola Saraki has thrown a shot in his Democracy day speech. Mr. Saraki urged that while the Country must continue to respect Democracy as a system of Government, it must ensure that continued persecution of perceived enemies of Government must stop. In a series of tweet on his official Twitter page, Saraki said some persons have been behaving like they are above the law and this must not be allowed to thrive.
“I would like us all to remember that Democracy is not just about elections. It also involves the rule of law, following due process, respecting and nurturing institutions. It is also unity of purpose while being accountable when we are in positions ” “History will not be fair to us if we allow our complacency to jeopardize democracy. We must all be able to speak out with strong voices on issues that constitute a danger to democracy. #DemocracyDay”
“These include abuse of office in a manner that suggests persecution and oppression of perceived enemies, stifling of free expression, undermining of democratic institutions, and impunity on the part of certain individuals who behave as though they are above the laws of the land.”
He also sought for peace to ensure development in the Country. “We cannot be celebrating #DemocracyDay without canvassing for caution on some recent negative developments in our polity, particularly as we prepare for next year’s general elections. These are significant challenges we face, but with our current combined efforts, I believe that we will bring greater development to the country.”
Senate President may have been referring to the current face-off between the senate and the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim which has led to lots of drama with the Senate recently meeting with President Buhari over same.

Bloggers Pose Tension In News Industry- Falana, Lai Mohammed
User Avatar Forum: Blogs
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 01:05 PM - No Replies

Bloggers tend to challenge mainstream media organisations since the arrival of the internet, due to the attention they enjoy from the public. However mainstream media organisations are known for objectivity within the news industry.

In a bid to ensure professionalism within the news industry, Lagos lawyer and human right activist, Femi Falana, SAN, has urged the NUJ and other relevant bodies to go back to their drawing board to enable them check the recklessness of the social media publishers.

While noting that the media profession is very important to the socio-political development of every society.

“For me, anybody that is going to publish anything using online channel, should have a registered website and we must be able to trace them. Technology has gone beyond anybody just writing down anything as website.

Similarly the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, castigated the recklessness of bloggers in his speech during the Annual National Conference and General Meeting of the NIPR held in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, 27 April 2017.

According to the minister of information, ”today anyone with a phone and data is a journalist”

Fulani Herdsmen Attack Pregnant Lady In Benue, Insert Sticks In Her Private Part
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

This is really heartbreaking. According to a report, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked and almost killed a young pregnant woman in Yogbo town Makurdi, Benue state capital on Sunday evening. The woman was said to be with her husband when the attacked happened as he escaped when they started shooting.

According to Benjamin Amaechi, the attackers used used sticks to pierce through her private part to kill the unborn child. They also pulled out the child and her womb after which they beat her and left her to die.

When soldiers went to pick her corpse upon her husband’s report, it was discovered that she's still alive and she was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital for treatment.

Below is what Benjamin shared on Facebook;

Yesterday evening a young pregnant woman was captured by the Fulani herdsmen in Yogbo town Makurdi LGA. She was with her husband who escaped when they started shooting. The men used used sticks to pierce through her private part to kill the unborn child and pull the child and her womb out after which they beat her and left her for dead. When the military went to pick the corpse upon her husband’s report they discovered that she was still alive and brought her down to Bishop Murray Hospital which morning s run by the Catholic Church. We were informed and rushed there.

Preliminary processes and documentation have been done. We have paid for screening and two pints of blood and and I am currently waiting for the bill for the surgery to likely take out the womb.Pictures as seen above

Goodluck Jonathan's Democracy Day Message: Nigerian Youths ARE NOT LAZY
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 10:16 AM - No Replies

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan took on his facebook page to commend and bless Nigeria Youths to mark Democracy Day in the country. On his post he listed out some great achievement done by the youths, He said " Nigeria Youths single handedly created Nollywood, the third largest movie industry in the world, can be expected to return the favour and make Nigeria proud.

The Post read:

On this Democracy Day 2018, I want to urge all Nigerians to pray for peace in Nigeria. We need peace in Nigeria. And it is up to you and I to ensure that our National Motto: Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress, is a reality and not just mere rhetoric. I urge Nigerians to understand and accept that nobody’s political, economic, religious or social ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.

As this year’s Democracy Day falls on the holy month of Ramadan, let me seize the opportunity to also extend Ramadan greetings to the Muslim Ummah. As you pray for Nigeria, I join my faith with yours and look forward to our prayers being answered by Almighty God.

There are many opportunities and crises on the horizon, but we must have the mentality of seeing the opportunity in crisis rather than the crisis in opportunity.

We have one of the fastest growing youth population in the world and we must see this as an opportunity, not a crisis.

As I said previously, Nigerian youths ARE NOT LAZY.

What our youth need are opportunities to showcase their positive talents. They need leaders who believe in them and show affirmation for them through their words and actions.

Democracy is a game of numbers and the youths have the numbers. More than 50% of our population are youths. If we develop policies, programs and projects to empower the youth of Nigeria, the Nigerian youth, who single handedly created Nollywood, the third largest movie industry in the world, can be expected to return the favour and make Nigeria proud.

And they are already making us proud both locally and internationally.

Nigerian youths are showcasing their brilliance around the world and I want to make special mention of Ukoma Michael, who at thirteen years of age invented a battery operated fan that lasts for 19 hours on a full charge. This ingenuity domiciled in Michael should be encouraged by our leadership.

Internationally, Princess Elizabeth Bright and Ramota Tele Lawal, two 22 year old Nigerian youths who in May of 2018 became the youngest elected councillors in the United Kingdom, have made us proud. Very proud indeed.

These youths are the epitome of the hardworking, talented, innovative and ambitious Nigerian youth who make our nation respected in the community of nations and give us hope for tomorrow and national pride for today.

Rather than discourage them with our words and actions, we as leaders must give our youths hope by using our language to draw out the very best in them. We must accept that nations only grow when elders plant trees whose shade they know they may never personally enjoy. Leaders must think of the next generation and not just the next election.

While we celebrate Ukoma, Elizabeth and Ramota, I know that there are perhaps millions in Nigeria who are equally brilliant and only need the right enabling environment to unleash their creative genius. They are my inspiration on this Democracy Day. They are the reason why I believe in the continued corporate existence of this great nation founded on justice, equity and freedom.

Happy Democracy Day. God bless you and your family and may God bless Nigeria. GEJ.

CSCS Records N4.9bn Profit, Pays 70 Kobo Dividend
User Avatar Forum: Financial Institutions
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 10:10 AM - No Replies

The Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc, the financial market infrastructure (FMI) arm for the Nigerian capital market, has announced a dividend of 70 kobo per share to shareholders for the year ended December 31, 2017.

The dividend, which amounts to N3.5 billion, was 233 per cent higher than the N1.05 billion paid out in 2016. Shareholders of the company approved the dividend at the 24th annual general meeting (AGM) in Lagos yesterday and commended the board and management for the improved performance.

Speaking on the 2017 financial results, chairman of CSCS Plc, Mr. Oscar Onyema, said despite the headwinds at the beginning of 2017, CSCS emerged with a strong performance for the year across all metrics.

According to him, at the end of the year, profit-before tax stood at N5.6 billion, from N3.72 billion in 2016, while profit after tax rose from N3.5 billion to N4.9 billion. Total assets stood at N32 billion compared with N27 billion in 2016.

“We attribute our performance to better economic macro story, the Investors’ and Exporters’ FX Window, our sound corporate governance model, focus on implementing strategic initiatives, skilled workforce and technology,” he said.

Onyema said in order to ensure competitiveness in the capital market and remain the foremost Central Securities Depository (CSD) in Africa, the company made significant investment in infrastructure by changing its core CSD platform, the Equator, to a more technologically advanced and state-of-the-art CSD platform, the TCS BaNCS .

Also speaking, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CSCS Plc, Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri, said though 2017 was considered the year of hope, CSCS adapted very quickly to ensure attainment of decent financial results and other achievements in the course of the year.

“CSCS had a profit before tax budget of N3.86 billion but surpassed this target to finish the year with a profit before tax of N5.66billion (a 46.63 favourable variance). This was driven by the confidence which returned to the capital market. Hence, actual earnings from our depository, clearing and settlement services, which constituted 49.63 (2016: 42.48 per cent) of our total revenue increased by 64.49 per cent in the current year.”

According to him, working with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and registrars of companies, CSCS successfully achieved 100 per cent dematerialisation of securities of quoted companies.

“The importance of this achievement is that it brings into effect the existence of a unified and comprehensive record of issued shares and the aforementioned companies’ shareholders. As is applicable in other markets, this puts CSCS in the position of bona fide Custodian of the golden record of securities and a sub registry for all quoted companies” Mr. Jalo-Waziri added.

Federal University Of Technology Akure Students Decry Police Harassment
User Avatar Forum: Universities
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 10:09 AM - No Replies

STUDENTS of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, in Ondo State, yesterday, decried incessant harassment and breach of their fundamental human rights by officers of the Nigeria Police Force in the state.

The students, under the aegis of Concern for Human Rights, CHR, accused the security agents of harassing their colleagues at FUTA North and South gates.

The CHR President, David Belele speaking on behalf of the students told newsmen in Akure “that it is imperative for the student populace to be sensitized.

Belele said: “The security agencies in FUTA hemisphere, the South Gate, and the North Gate, are terrorizing young Nigerian youths. There is a need for us to come together as people who believe that the right of the people should not be tampered with.

“Several times they asked the students to bring out their phones for search. The last time I checked the Police Act, Part 4, Section 28, it does not give a right for the police to search Nigerian citizens.

While narrating his experience, Balele said “on my way going to the School of Health three days ago, I met some security agencies on the road and they asked me to bring out my phones. I told them they don’t have any right to ask for my phone.”

Continuing, he said: “They threatened to shoot me. But as far as I am concerned, we have to stop the illegal harassment and intimidation in FUTA environment and beyond.”

We’re investigating allegations—Police

Reacting, spokesperson of the Ondo Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed that a complaint had been lodged and that “the Commissioner of Police had taken strict measures to investigate the allegations.

Any police officer indicted in the allegations would be properly dealt with after the thorough investigation.”

Oil Price Falls To Three-week Low On Planned OPEC, Russia Output Hike
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 05-29-2018, 10:07 AM - No Replies

Crude oil prices extended losses Monday as Saudi Arabia and Russia said they might increase supplies to the international market, while United States production gains show no signs of slowing.

There are signs that output from the three top crude oil producers – Russia, the US and Saudi Arabia, would climb to meet concerns about supply amid strong demand.

Global benchmark, Brent crude futures stood at $75.35 per barrel, down $1.09 from the previous close and after touching a three-week low of $74.49 earlier in the session.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $66.69, down $1.19, after hitting a six-week low of $65.80.
Brent and WTI have respectively fallen by 5.5 per cent and 7.5 per cent from peaks reached earlier this month.

The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other producers led by Russia began withholding 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) of supplies in 2017 to tighten the market and prop up prices that in 2016 fell to their lowest in more than a decade at less than $30 a barrel.

Prices have soared since the start of the cuts last year, with Brent breaking through $80 this month, triggering concerns that high prices could crimp economic growth and stoke inflation.
To address potential supply shortfalls Saudi Arabia, de-facto leader of producer cartel OPEC, and top producer Russia, have been in talks about easing the cuts and raising oil production by 1 million bpd.

Meanwhile, surging US crude oil production showed no sign of abating as drillers continue to expand their search for new oilfields to exploit.

US energy companies added 15 rigs looking for new oil in the week ending May 25, bringing the rig count to 859, its highest since 2015, in a strong indication that American crude oil production will continue to rise.
US crude oil output has already surged by more than 27 per cent in the past two years, to 10.73 million bpd, ever closer to Russia’s 11 million bpd.

However, increased US crude oil exports to Asia, supported by a wide WTI-Brent spread, are reportedly eating into Asian market shares of OPEC and Russia, the cartel’s ally in the production cut pact.
The United States is expected to export 2.3 million bpd of crude oil in June, including 1.3 million bpd bound for Asia, according to estimates by a senior executive at a US oil exporter who spoke to Reuters.

US crude oil exports hit a record high 2.566 million barrels per day in the second week of May, according to EIA data.
The record-high US oil production and the emerging constraints in the takeaway capacity has pushed WTI crude oil to the widest discount to Brent Crude in three years—at around $9 a barrel, while Brent prices have been supported by geopolitical concerns of possible supply disruptions from the Middle East and plunging production in Venezuela.

Asian refiners have seized the opportunity to boost the cheaper US crude oil imports and are cutting some pricier imports from the Middle East, particularly after Saudi Arabia’s recent pricing policies that raised prices for the Asian markets.

  President M. Buhari's Democracy Day Speech {may 29, 2018.)

ADDRESS BY MUHAMMADU BUHARI , PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 2018 DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION , TUESDAY, 29 TH MAY, 2018
My Dear Nigerians !
Today marks the 19 th year of our nascent democracy and the 3 rd Anniversary of this administration . I am thankful to Almighty God for bringing us thus far . This administration came at a time that Nigerians needed Change, the Change we promised and the Change we continue to deliver . We have faced a lot of challenges on this journey and Nigerians have stood by us in achieving the three cardinal points of this administration namely; Security , Corruption and the Economy .
2 . The commemoration of this year ’s Democracy Day is a celebration of freedom , a salute to the resilience and determination of Nigerians and a recommitment by Government to keep its promise to lead Nigeria into a new era of justice and prosperity .
3 . Public safety and security remains the primary duty of this Government . Before this Administration came into being 3 years ago, Boko Haram held large areas of land spanning several Local Governments in the North East .
4 . Today , the capacity of the insurgents has been degraded leading to the re -establishment of authority of government and the release of captives including , happily, 106 Chibok and 104 Dapchi girls, and over 16 , 000 other persons held by the Boko Haram.
5 . In order to minimize the impact of the insurgency on Internally Displaced Persons, Government has established secure IDP Camps and has improved the mechanism for the distribution of basic aid , foods and essential commodities using various strategies in collaboration with local and international Organizations .
6 . Efforts are in process for resettlement of IDPs in their home communities by providing schools , hospitals , clinics , water and sanitation to facilitate a quick return to economic activities . Government is similarly implementing de -radicalization and rehabilitation programmes to facilitate sustainable peace and development.
7 . The unfortunate incidences of kidnappings , herdsmen and farmers clashes in several communities which have led to high number of fatalities and loss of properties across the country is being addressed and the identified culprits and their sponsors shall be made to face the full wrath of the law . All the three tiers of Government are presently engaged with communities and religious organizations to restore peaceful co -existence among Nigerians .
8 . I want to commend members of the Multinational Joint Task Force drawn from Niger, Benin , Chad , Cameroon and our own country in collaboration with the International Community who are assisting in the fight against insurgency in the North East . I also commend the gallantry of members of our Armed Forces and other security agencies that have continued to provide security for lives and properties across the country . State and Local traditional authorities are helping with much needed intelligence in this fight against insurgency.
9 . This administration is pained over the grievous loss of lives and properties occasioned by the carnage of insurgency and other forms of criminality in the country . I wish to assure Nigerians that we will not rest until all criminal elements and their sponsors are brought to justice . Government is boosting the capacity of our security agencies through recruitment of more personnel , training and procurement of modern equipment , enhancement of intelligence gathering as well as boosting their morale in the face of daunting challenges.
10 . The Niger Delta Region has enjoyed relative peace through social inclusiveness and cooperation of the Elders and the good people of the region. Government is committed to implementing the comprehensive peace , security and development plan for the region. The environmental clean - up of the region which commenced with the launch in Bodo , Ogoni in June , 2016 is progressing satisfactorily . Furthermore farming assets are being revived and investors in cocoa and palm oil plantations are showing serious interest .
11 . The second primary object of this Administration is to fight corruption headlong . Like I have always said , if we don’t kill corruption , corruption will destroy the country . Three years into this Administration , Nigerians and the international community have begun to applaud our policies and determination to fight corruption . We are more than ever before determined to win this war , however hard the road is. I therefore appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support us in this fight .
12 . Various policy measures already put in place to stem the tide of corrupt practices are yielding remarkable results . Some of these key reform policies include:
a . The Treasury Single Account ( TSA) has realized Billions of Naira being saved from maintenance fee payable to banks . N200 Billion has also been saved from elimination of ghost workers in public service .
b . The Whistle -Blowing Policy has helped to recover over N500 Billion;
c . The Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit set up with a mandate to validate controls , assess risks , prune personnel costs , ensure compliance with Public Financial Management reforms has helped to identify and remove over 52 ,000 ghost workers from the Federal Government MDAs Payroll ;
d . The Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme ( VAIDS ) aimed at expanding tax education and awareness has offered the opportunity for tax defaulters to regularise their status in order to enjoy the amnesty of forgiveness on overdue interest , penalties and the assurance of non -prosecution or subject to tax investigations .
e . The Sovereign Wealth Fund project portfolio has been expanded with an injection of US $650 million so as to strengthen its investment in local infrastructure , power , health , re -construction of Abuja - Kano road , Lagos -Ibadan Expressway, East West Road ( Section V ) and the Mambilla Hydro -electric Power project as well as the construction of the 2 nd Niger Bridge .
13 . The fight against corruption through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has resulted in recoveries of Billions of Naira, as well as forfeiture of various forms of assets . This alongside other efforts has improved Nigeria ’s international image and regional cooperation .
14 . We have retained the services of one of the world’ s leading assets tracing firms to investigate and trace assets globally . This is in addition to the exploitation of provisions of existing Treaties , Conventions as well as Bilateral Agreements with Multilateral bodies and Nations . Nigeria has also signed Mutual Legal Assistance Agreements to ensure that there is no hiding place for fugitives .
15 . This Administration has therefore focused on revamping the ailing economy it inherited in 2015. In 2016, Government executed an expansionary budget and developed the Strategic Implementation Plan . For the first time , 30 % of the budget was earmarked for capital expenditure which represents an upward review when compared with the 2015 budget . The SIP was followed by the development of a comprehensive medium term plan – the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan 2017 – 2020 .
16 . The broad strategic objectives of the ERGP were to; Restore and sustain economic growth; Build a globally competitive economy ; and Invest in our people . The implementation of the ERGP has started yielding results . The National Bureau of Statistics reports that the economy grew by 1.95 % in 1 st quarter 2018, which is a good performance when viewed against - 0.91 in 1st quarter 2017 and -0 .67 % in 1 st quarter 2016 respectively .
17 . Our foreign reserve has improved significantly to 47 .5 billion USD as of May , 2018 as against 29 .6 billion USD in 2015 . The inflationary rate has consistently declined every month since January, 2017 .
18 . Recently , Government conducted Focus Labs in three key sectors of the Economy namely , Agriculture & Transport , Manufacturing and Processing as well as Power and Gas . These have yielded significant prospects for investments and Job creation to the tune of US$ 22 .5 billion with a potential for creating more than 500 ,000 jobs by 2020. These investment generation initiatives are expected to increase capital inflows in the form of foreign direct investment . There is a high prospect that the cumulative investments from this first phase of the Labs will hit US$ 39 . 2 billion by 2025.
19 . Under agriculture , Nigeria continues to pursue a strategic food security programme built around self -sufficiency and minimization of import dependency . As a result, rice importation from other countries has been cut down by 90 % which has a direct impact on foreign reserves .
20 . The Social Investment Programmes ( SIP ) has been created as a means to graduating our citizens from poverty through capacity building , investment and direct support . The major strategic objective is to restore livelihood , economic opportunities and sustenance for the poor across the country . The SIP programmes and projects include :
a . Home Grown School Feeding Programme – About 8 .2 million pupils are currently being fed from 24 States of the Federation with over 75 ,000 Catering Staff engaged under the programme .
b . The Conditional Cash Transfer has so far recorded over 297 ,000 caregivers and being trained by 2 ,495 Community Facilitators in 21 states . Less privileged Nigerians are now being paid N 5 ,000 monthly stipend in 9 pilot States of Bauchi, Borno , Cross River , Ekiti , Kwara , Kogi , Niger, Osun and Oyo. Eventually the scheme will cover all the 36 states of the federation including the FCT .

Michael Adiku On Offa Bank Robbery: "Why I Killed Over 20 People"
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Michael Adiku, the dismissed Corporal turned leader of the armed robbery gang that attacked commercial banks in Offa, Kwara State, has told detectives why he wasted many lives including those of policemen that day.

Adiku, who said he was on a killing spree, told operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IG) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) that he personally killed over 20 people, mostly policemen during the operation.

The suspect said he deliberately killed those policemen that day because he has scores to settle with the system, adding that they took Tramadol and other hard drugs before embarking on the mission.

Adikwu, a Corporal attached to the Kwara State unit of SARS, was dismissed after he was accused of freeing suspected armed robbers. He was later charged to court and sent to prison, where he spent three years.

A police source who gave update on the case, revealed that from findings, Adikwu had vowed to deal with the police for dismissing and jailing him.

He said: “Adikwu, while in prison, had been threatening to the hearing of other inmates, that he would kill as many policemen as possible once he had the opportunity.

Adikwu led three others into the police station, while others stayed outside. They walked into the station as if they wanted to lodge a complaint with their pistols concealed under their clothes.

Immediately they entered, Adikwu said he shot the station guard he killed 9 policemen at the station and carried their rifles. The suspects confessed that they took Tramadol and other hard drugs before embarking on the operation. .

Over 30 people were killed that day and Adikwu said he personally killed over 20. One of those he went into the police station with was Arrow (Kunle Ogunleye).

After the operation, he went to each of the banks which were being robbed to issue orders. He was captured on CCTV shouting at his members, telling them what to do and what not to do.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 29TH MAY

DEMONSTRATING HIS LOVE.

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5).

The Christian life is a demonstration of divine love. 1 John 4:8 says, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” God is love personified. He demonstrated His love towards us in that He gave Christ to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8).

Being born again, you’re born of God, and if God who is love gave birth to you, then you’re a child of love, and love personified. Divine love isn’t something to pray to God to give you; it’s a feature of your recreated human spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love…” (Galatians 5:22). What’s expected of you is to demonstrate the love that’s stored up in your heart, and be a blessing to your world. Be an oasis of love in a troubled world.

Jesus said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” An example of His commandment is the instruction to preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). You’d be demonstrating the love of God to your world when you reach out to others with the Gospel of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:14 says, “For the love of Christ constraineth us…”; we’re propelled by His love to preach the Gospel, just as He was propelled by love to take the place of sinful men on the cross. He was the expression and communication of the love of God.

Not only did He speak words of blessings to the people, He also touched them and related to them with love. He helped them know that the Father loved them. You felt love, divine love, when you were in His presence. People from everywhere came to Jesus, to hear Him, and be with Him, because in His words, they heard and saw love.

As a Christian or minister of the Gospel, this should be your desire: manifesting the love of Jesus to the world. It’s one of the things the Holy Spirit does in your life; He reveals God to you and as you get to know Him, His love dominates you. This is because the more you love Him, the more like Him you become.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for flooding my spirit with the revelation of your love and for helping me, not only to walk in the increased consciousness of your great love for me but to also, demonstrate this love and be a blessing to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 John 4:11-12 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NIV For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

May 30 Sit-At-Home: We Will Deal Decisively With Biafra Groups - Police
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 04:09 PM - No Replies

The Nigerian Police Force, NPF, Anambra State Command has vowed to deal decisively with any individual or groups, under any guise, who disrupts public peace.”

The warning comes following the May 30 sit-at-home order by the members of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB.

However, the police has insisted that IPOB, as a proscribed organisation, lacked the legitimacy to declare a protest order, but IPOB said police can’t stop it from carrying out its religious obligation to Biafra’s fallen heroes.

Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, Mr. Garba Umar, who described the group as misguided elements and urged the people in the state to disregard the order and go about their lawful normal businesses, assured that the State Police Command is on top of the situation.

“The command, with other security agencies, will not hesitate to deal decisively with any individual or groups, under any guise, who disrupts public peace.”

Reacting over the statement, IPOB, through a press release by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said there is no going back on the May 30 sit-at-home order, describing it is as “oblation” that would take place in no fewer than 100 countries of the world.

Fulani Herdsmen Attack Seminary In Taraba, Shoot Catholic Priest
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Reports have it that men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have this morning attacked a seminary in Jalingo, Tarara state. The attack leaves many of the students injured while a Catholic priest was shot on the leg. Cars parked in the seminar were destroyed during the attack.

The recent development was disclosed via a WhatsApp message by the Director of Caritas Nigeria, an agency of the Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey.

Father Bassey wrote:

“Please Frs, pray for us. Our minor seminary in Jalingo has just been attacked by the Fulani, some students are injured, some cars destroyed, two priests beaten and one shot on the leg. They are currently receiving treatment at FMC.”

Most of the injured students are currently receiving treatement at the Federal Medical Center in Makurdi.

This attack comes three weeks after two catholic priests and 17 parishioners were killed in a similar attack by herdsmen during an early morning mass.

Buhari, Baru Have Made NNPC Worse: PUNCH
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 04:05 PM - No Replies

ACCUSTOMED to meeting most of their financial obligations from their monthly share-out of the Federation Account, Nigeria’s 36 state governors were recently confronted with less-than-expected offers from the pool. Under-remittances from the state oil company and some other agencies mean less revenue for states battling rising costs, high debts, deficits and an impending election cycle. The chickens the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation hatched are coming home to roost.

The alarm raised earlier this month by the states’ commissioners of finance that expected remittance to the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation from the NNPC shifted to near-panic mode at state houses last week. Two consecutive meetings of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee – a gathering of the Minister of Finance and the states finance commissioners – ended without agreement as delegates rejected alleged under-payment by the NNPC.

Fresh confirmation of our untidy national book-keeping practices has just come from an audit report prepared by KPMG and commissioned by the National Economic Council. The report found that 18 federal revenue federating agencies withheld the sums of N526 billion and $21 billion from the Federation Account between 2010 and June 2015. NEC, chaired by the Vice-President, includes the finance minister and the state governors who are understandably livid at the continuation of a system that allows the NNPC especially, to carry on as usual.

They woke late to the posers this newspaper has been raising over the oil company’s dangerous monopoly on refined petroleum products since September; its unverified claims on volumes imported and distributed; its self-regulation; its runaway self-imposed habit of subsidising petrol, and virtual autonomy under an inattentive President who has also made himself the petroleum minister.

Now, governors are finally waking up to the dangers. They should have spotted the booby trap when the NNPC gleefully announced that it was now the sole importer of petrol after independents left the field, citing losses arising from a landing price then of N171 per litre compared to the regulated price of N145 per litre ceiling. The alarm should have been louder when, first, the NNPC said it would absorb the losses and quaintly labelled it “under-recoveries,” and, next, claimed the improbable supply figure of 55 million litres per day. A healthy scepticism would have prompted independent checks much earlier than now to safeguard public funds. Now that landing cost is N191 per litre, NNPC is heartily subsidising on our behalf while we pick up the bills.

In between, Maikanti Baru, Group Managing Director, claimed the company incurred $5.8 billion in two months. In January this year, petrol imports cost N1.4 trillion.

Improbability has given way to incredulity: governors have now taken a cue from The PUNCH in questioning the new figure of 60 million litres supplied per day and Baru’s vow to bring in 100 million litres per day for two months.

Neither Buhari nor the lazy, distracted National Assembly can run away from providing answers to the governors’ posers. Who verifies the NNPC’s import and expenditure claims? There should be a thorough investigation of the company’s operations to ascertain how much petrol comes into the country and where they go. It stretches the imagination that the neighbouring markets of Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Togo, Cameroon, Chad and Ghana can absorb the excess over the 35 million litres per day claimed by the NNPC as our national demand.

More importantly, we should stop the national folly of continuing to allow vested interests to prevent the privatisation of the NNPC’s four loss-making refineries and liberalising the oil downstream. Buhari and Baru are driving the economy that shrank to 1.95 per cent in the last quarter aground. Rather than sell them post-haste, Baru, in accordance with the retrogressive presidential fiat to make them work “at any cost,” is on a forlorn, unworkable drive to attract investors who will provide funds but will not own. Such shallow thinking and convoluted rigmarole have ensured that the refineries cannot meet local demand and continue to accumulate operating losses over the last three decades (group losses of about N546 billion in the three years to 2017). The refineries lost N82.09 billion in 2015, N78.95 billion in 2016 and a report by Bloomberg puts recent losses at the NNPC HQ and the refineries at about $500 million.

Baru’s acrobatics of wooing the original builders and others to invest in refurbishing them are not viable. As long as the NNPC remains a major player in the downstream, operators will continue to flee the local market as Chevron, Texaco, Mobil have done, leaving only the bold and influential Dangote on whose upcoming 650,000 bpd Lekki refinery lies the country’s sole hope of breaking the NNPC stranglehold.

Opaque, self-regulating and over-politicised, the NNPC’s losses pale in contrast to the strong showing of other SOEs like Norway’s Equinox (formerly Statoil), Brazil’s Petrobas and Gulf oil majors that all posted rebounds in 2017 as oil prices rallied. The world eagerly awaits the flotation of Saudi Aramco whose owner, Saudi Arabia, is reforming its economy away from oil dependency and opening up to global investors. Nigeria must follow suit.

Buhari should relinquish the petroleum resources portfolio and reconstitute the NNPC board to allow for reformers from outside the rotten NNPC system. In line with his electoral promise, Buhari should follow the advice of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna to “kill the NNPC” to make way for a new entity to emerge and meet national aspirations. A recent report that depots and pipelines that are not even fully utilised drained N174 billion reinforces why the NNPC should exit the downstream sector completely and concentrate on its core function as a holding company.

In the meantime, the parliament should launch an all-out probe into the fuel import system and the refineries. Governors should not stop at insisting on full remittance of all funds due to the CRF, they should go to court to demand their rights.

A new born baby went missing in Peniel Maternity and Clinic popularly known as (Mummy's hospital) Anyigba in Dekina LGA - Kogi State. According to Fitumi a relative to the husband, the baby was delivered early hour on Sunday and got missing after few hours. She added that, the child was under the care of the nurse on duty before the sudden disappearance of the child.

When the nurse was reportedly interrogated, she couldn't explain vividly how it occurred as she was taken to Anyigba Police station for official investigation.

The mother, Joy Idah Mudi disclosed that, she didn't see her child before she got missing because of the improper arrangement of the Maternity. She added that they put her in a separate ward and latter heard this shocking news.

Hundreds of people gathered at Anyigba Police Station demanding the transfer of the maternity nurse to the vigilante officials for torturing.

Heavens Won’t Fall If Buhari Prosecutes Obasanjo Over $16bn Power Project –Sagay
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 10:48 AM - No Replies

Quote:Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, speaks on the three years of the Muhammadu Buhari administration and other issues of national importance. Excerpts:

President Buhari will be marking three years in office tomorrow as president. He was elected on a four-year mandate which will elapse in 2019. Do you think three years is enough to assess his performance?

No, I don’t think three years are enough to assess his performance but I think in these three years, sufficient achievements have been recorded by this government by which it can be judged. Three years won’t be a complete picture but there is substantial evidence for one to make an assessment.

So, if you are to assess him on the three cardinal programmes of his administration namely war against corruption, revamping the economy and tackling insecurity, how will you rate him in these areas?

I think he has been largely successful under very difficult circumstances. Let us take the issue of corruption in which I think he has scored an excellent grade. In other words, given the circumstances of the country and the hostility plus resistance of the elites who are behind the looting of the nation’s treasury, I will rate his achievement as excellent. If you look at recovery of assets by this administration, it is unprecedented anywhere in the world; assets recovery from every angle such as Abacha loot, loot under the Goodluck Jonathan government and so on. It amazes me that Nigerians pretend that they are not aware of these things. If you ask them , what has Buhari achieved in the fight against corruption?. The response you will get is ‘he has achieved very little in the area of corruption’. In fact, that is a blatant lie. He has achieved a tremendous lot. We have had activities on the part of EFCC and ICPC which is totally unprecedented because of the political commitment of this government in the anti-corruption war. What people fail to appreciate is the level of resistance, the fighting back by these very powerful oligarchs who are using our resources which they stole to fight us back. It is these resources they use in paying their lawyers, bribing judges and creating all sorts of obstacles.

Look at the case of Olisa Metuh. Look at the resistance with all the drama to having the trial concluded. Someone was told sit where he was but he said no, he must go to the dock and halfway to the dock, he suddenly dropped pretending to have collapsed. As a result of that, his counsel insists at any cost that the case should be adjourned again. So, this government is going through fearful obstruction in the fight against corruption. That is why it has decided to concentrate on recovery of assets because we have discovered that if you deny these looters of their assets, it is even worse than sentencing to imprisonment because it robs them of all the gains of their looting. If you recover these loots from them, all they have planned to do with the loot will be lost and you see them developing high blood pressure and all sorts of things which could be worse than imprisonment. If they could go to prison for a time and retain the loot, they will choose that because they will come and enjoy the loot once they are released. Also, what people seem to forget is the difficulty of conviction because of the lapses of the Nigerian constitution which places the burden of proof not only on the prosecution but also proof beyond reasonable doubt. It is extremely difficult particularly when you have lawyers who are determined to frustrate and stall cases. We forget too that the names of these people have been published. The loot that they have stolen have been stated, the whole country is aware of who they are and they have lost their reputation and respect in the society. That is a punishment that could be worse than imprisonment. So, on this issue of anti-corruption war, this government has passed it in flying colours. We have been engaged in training of judges, prosecutors, training in drafting of charges, interacting with professionals to see how they in their own spheres can cut corruption short especially those in the fields of Accountancy, Law etc. So, I will class the achievement in this area as first class.

When we come to the area of security, we have a major problem. If it was limited to Boko Haram alone, I will also have given this administration an A. But these herdsmen attack has been so horrendous; totally devastating that it has affected the image of the government. There is no question about that. Even those of us who are in total support of this administration are disturbed by the way these herdsmen appear to have gotten away with their terrorism. However, I am relieved and encouraged by the fact that the government has now made it the priority in their security activity. They have deployed forces to the affected areas massively and these people are now being fished out, arrested and killed. They now know that they cannot continue with their impunity. One can say the government reaction has been slow but to me it is not. What has happened is that they did not put in enough action against the herdsmen. They actually put in effort but it was inadequate and there was an incremental level from stage to stage. Now we have a very anti-herdsmen force dealing with them in all the places they are operating such as Benue, Nassarawa, Taraba, Kaduna and others. The herdsmen now know that they can no longer act with impunity, get away with it and come back the next day as if Nigeria is a killing field. I am also happy that the federal government has provided a substantial sum of money for those communities to be rehabilitated and brought back to the standard they were living before so they can continue with their lifestyles and farming without fear of attack.

President Buhari and former president Olusegun Obasanjo last week engaged in war of words over the $16bn Power project. Will your body advise the president on whether it should be probed or not?

Yes, when the time comes certainly we will do that. It is an issue that we didn’t really think about in my committee. The anti-corruption agencies are the ones who have all the facts, names and figures. So, we will leave them to use their initiative but if this issue becomes political issue as it is being turn into, it may be necessary to get the facts and take the necessary action. If anybody wants to make capital of politics by running down this government which in my view is the most upright government we have had since a part of the Murtala Mohammed government, then this government may have to show that it is a government of principle and one which has the will to suppress corruption and those who challenge it may face the music.

Former South African president, Jacob Zuma is currently trial for his actions in office. Do you think Obasanjo is sacred cow that cannot be prosecuted?

Heavens will not fall if Obasanjo is prosecuted and jailed if found guilty. In my opinion, this government has a very kind disposition towards former presidents out of respect. The government doesn’t want to create the impression whereby a former president who is the image of the country is being brought to trial. It will look a sorry sight. But no one should challenge this government and then compel it too establish that those who are talking are not the best and they allowed a lot of dirt under them for which they are not being prosecuted.

Why do you think Obasanjo is too critical of those who succeeded him in office unlike what obtains in the United States where you hardly see former presidents criticising the incumbents despite political differences?

Why even go to the United States? Let’s look into Nigeria. How many times has Yakubu Gowon under whom Obasanjo served as a military officer criticise anybody? I am sure when he has anything to say he will go quietly. How many times has Abdulsalami Abubakar criticised anybody? Even Ibrahim Babangida was quiet before, respecting himself until Obasanjo started pushing and egging him to speak. You could see it wasn’t natural with Babangida coming out to attack a successor. So, this is an Obasanjo ego trip. He has to be the President-General forever. He is always envious of anyone who came in after him. He has to interfere to be relevant and you must allow him preside over the presidency otherwise there will be no peace. He didn’t allow Yar’Adua to rest; he didn’t allow Jonathan to rest now it is the turn of Buhari. I think this tendency of putting your hands in the eyes of those who succeeded you really has to be stopped. His shenanigans has to be stopped. He went to Afenifere, a group he has had nothing to do with for years for support. He has to formed some artificial party ADC and all sorts of ridiculous associations thinking he can destabilise this government when he was allowed a free reign as president. He got two terms and then wanted a Third Term. Nobody killed him for it even though that attempt failed woefully. So, I think Obasanjo should allow Nigeria to rest. He should give Nigeria peace. He should just go to his house and leave us alone. We have had enough of him

Omoyele Sowore: ‘Saraki Will Be Jailed When I Become President’
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 10:45 AM - No Replies

Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and presidential aspirant for the 2019 election, says Senate President Bukola Saraki will be sent to jail and that Kwara will be “liberated”.

Sowore said this on Friday when he visited Ilorin, Kwara state capital, for a town hall meeting.

Saraki is from Kwara state.

Sowore said the number three citizen had turned himself into a “demigod” in the state.

He told the crowd who received him that he would put an end to the politics of godfatherism in Kwara and Nigeria as a whole if he is voted into power.

Sowore said the country would experience a “revolutionary change” in government by 2019.

“We will ensure that Kwara state is liberated from the hand of political godfather who can’t build good roads, schools and infrastructures,” he said.

“I remember last year, this was the same political godfather, Bukola Saraki, that seized our money, that was meant for the SaharaReporters Civic Media Lab, and brought it to Kwara state.

“This same Saraki went to the court to stop us and sent thugs to beat us after bragging he has all the Judges in Kwara state in his pocket.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell him that the money he seized from us would be refunded soon and will be paid with interest while he goes to jail.”

Sowore further said the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has failed the nation, hence it “should be kicked out”.
According to him, by 2019, “it will no longer be sai Baba but sai Bobo”.

“By next year, we are taking back this country from the hands of the old guards and we would ensure we set its feet on the path of progress,” he said.

“Then, it will no longer be sai Baba but sai Bobo because the country would not be left again in the hands of untrustworthy elders and leaders who have taken us back.

“We are tired of the old people in all the regions of the country mostly the ones who still think in analogue ways and have noting to offer us.”

28 OIL WORKERS TRAPPED, 100 RESCUED IN CONOIL FIRE ACCIDENT IN BAYELSA
source: http://www.eyesoflagos.com/2018/05/28-oil-workers-trapped-100-rescued-in.html

Investigations have revealed that 28 oil workers were still trapped on the ConOil platform in Koluama 1 community of Southern Ijaw in Bayelsa State, after it was engulfed by fire on Saturday morning. No less than 100 oil workers were confirmed rescued yesterday. The fire, which was confirmed by the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta , codenamed Operation Delta Safe, started around 5am on Saturday and has blew up the oil platform and razed down the residential area of oil workers. The rescued workers have been flown to Port Harcourt on Rivers. While the others are still trapped in their residence with fire fighters and locals battling to put off the fire and save the helipad. Eyes Of Lagos gathered yesterday that the fire fighters, who were flown into the community on Saturday from Port Harcourt, Rivers State , were assisted by indigenes of Koluama 1 and other fishing communities in the area. A source, who was part of the indigenes who is assisting in the rescue and evacuation operation, told Eyes Of Lagos that though the oilfield is operated by ConOil, the oil rig is owned by Depthwize Nigeria, an oil services firm working at the oil block operated by Conoil Nigeria Limited . The rig is located within Nigeria’s territorial waters in the Atlantic Ocean off Koluama community in Southern Ijaw area of the state. Spokesman for the OPDS, Maj. Abdullahi Ibrahim , who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said that all personnel on board the rig were successfully evacuated. He said that the fire was already under control due to the efforts of firefighters , adding that no life was lost .

OPEC Sends Oil Prices Crashing – Oilprice Report
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 09:33 AM - No Replies

Oil prices plunged in early trading on Friday on news that OPEC and its partners, including Russia, are considering a loosening of their production limits (more below). Both WTI and Brent fell by more than 3 percent Friday morning.

OPEC and Russia could raise production. Saudi Arabia and Russia are in discussions about raising their production limits, perhaps adding as much as 1 million barrels per day to the market. The group could announce a change in Vienna next month. The steep losses from Venezuela meant that OPEC’s compliance with the cuts surpassed 150 percent last month. The idea would be to bring compliance back down to 100 percent, which would mean allowing members to produce more to offset Venezuela’s declines. Nothing is finalized yet and the talks will continue for the next few weeks. Oil prices sank on the news.

U.S. oil exports rising, but infrastructure faces constraints. U.S. oil exports hit a new record at 2.6 million barrels per day two weeks ago, but have dipped since then. Most analysts see exports continuing to rise, particularly with WTI trading at a steep $8-per-barrel discount relative to Brent. However, there are concerns that U.S. port infrastructure won’t be able to handle much higher levels of exports. Export capacity data isn’t tracked and the exact capacity is not known, although it is thought to be around 3.5 MB/d. As of now, the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) is the only Gulf Coast port that can handle very large crude carriers (VLCCs). “So far, export capacity is keeping pace, but we are walking a tightrope,” Bernadette Johnson, vice president at DrillingInfo, told Reuters.

BP cuts jobs. BP (NYSE: BP) said it will slash 3 percent of its workforce in its upstream unit this year, eliminating more than 500 positions. The oil giant said the move was done in the name of efficiency and competitiveness.

U.S. shale growth to disappoint. Industry veteran Mark Papa, CEO of Centennial Resource Development (NASDAQ: CDEV) and former head of EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG), says that the growth projections for U.S. shale are overly optimistic. Papa says growth disappointed last year and would continue to undershoot expectations, largely because the best sites have already been drilled. In the Eagle Ford and the Bakken “my estimate is that about 70% of the good quality drilling locations have already been drilled,” Papa said, according to S&P Global Platts. “So you’re left … with Tier 2 and Tier 3 quality geologic locations and there’s a really steep drop-off in the amount of oil you get per well with those locations.”

Peak oil demand to erase $19 trillion in oil income. The adoption of 240 million electric vehicles by 2040 will cause oil demand to peak by the mid-2020s, which will destroy $19 trillion in income, according to Aurora Energy Research Ltd. Aurora’s “analysis points to a possible energy future of mass electrification, digitization, and new technologies, in which the rise in electric vehicles and continued improvements in fuel efficiency lead to peak oil demand occurring in the mid-2020,” Richard Howard, head of research at Aurora, said in the report. Ultimately, the displacement of around 8 million barrels per day could cause oil prices to fall to as low as $32 per barrel by 2040.

NJ bails out nukes. New Jersey approved a bailout of its struggling nuclear power plants. Ratepayers will essentially subsidize the nuclear plants, operated by Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC), by about $300 million a year. The support for nuclear comes after New York and Illinois previously passed similar measures to rescue their nuclear power plants.

Large consumers step up oil hedging. With Brent oil near $80 per barrel, large industrial consumers, such as airlines and shipping companies, have increased their hedges, locking in oil for the next year or so, fearful of further price increases. “Consumers are hedging, which is supporting the back end of the Brent curve,” Thibaut Remoundos, founder of Commodities Trading Corp., told Bloomberg.

UBS: $100 oil possible. Investment bank UBS says that a price spike to $100 per barrel is possible, which should be worrying because it could trigger an economic recession. “Now that we are getting closer to $100/bbl the net impact of higher oil prices is again becoming a net negative,” UBS said in a research note. “The global sweet spot — where oil prices may have positively contributed to global growth — seems to be somewhere between $50/bbl and $70/bbl.”

ExxonMobil to slash methane by 15 percent. ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) said that it would voluntarily cut methane emissions by 15 percent by 2020 in an effort to reduce its impact on climate change. More and more oil companies are offering voluntary cuts to head off regulatory action.

EU settles antitrust case with Gazprom. The European Union officially settled a suit this week against Russian gas giant Gazprom, filed back in 2015, over anticompetitive behavior. Last year, Gazprom accepted changes to the way it conducts business in the EU, including allowing for the reselling of gas across borders and changes to pricing that will prevent the company from gouging individual countries who lack alternative supplies. “Gazprom won’t be able to play hardball,” Jonathan Stern, an analyst in the gas program at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, told the New York Times. Still, countries in Eastern Europe believe Gazprom got off easy.

Canadian oil exports to U.S. Gulf Coast surpass Venezuela’s share. Canada has long supplied the U.S. Midwest with heavy oil, but more Canadian oil is heading to the Gulf Coast. Canada’s oil exports to the U.S Gulf Coast topped that of Venezuela for the first time on a monthly basis. Both countries ship heavy oil to Gulf Coast refiners, but Venezuela’s losses mean that Canadian oil has become more important.

Garba Shehu Calls Reno Omokri "A Lying Pastor", Reveals How He Joined Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-28-2018, 09:29 AM - No Replies

EVER SEEN A LYING PASTOR?

“Pastor” Reno Omokri is forcing me to do what I don’t do. I don’t react to published criticisms. I have spent my entire career in the media and as one who criticizes others; you must be ready to take criticism.

This is about exposing a liar masquerading as a pastor. By the way, I have known and worked with exemplary pastors who are decent and from whom you learned more of the etiquette of truth telling.

Take for example Pastor Emeka Izeze and his brother, Pastor Ifeanyi, or his friend, Pastor Segun Babatope. And lately, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President and Pastor Femi Adesina.

For those Reno tried to mislead, yes it is a fact that I worked in the media office of a PDP administration. Not for five years as the new-day pastor published but only for six months at which point it was announced on NTA news, to my surprise, that my letter of resignation had been accepted when I hadn’t written any. I learned of course that I was fired because the head of the country at that time, who believed that every published criticism was sponsored by an insider, read the weekly magazine, The News, and didn’t like what was written about him.

Another point the “Pastor” keeps making is that he was my colleague at that time. No, he wasn’t. His boss was. The Reno I knew was a Personal Assistant (PA) to a Principal Officer like me. He didn’t attend meetings and didn’t receive official briefings as we did but ran errands for his boss.

Not being a principal officer by status, he could not have had an office opposite my own. He may, however, have perched on a stool in one of those offices but I didn’t take particular notice of which one. He was, however, very personable at that time.

“Pastor’’ Reno lied by calling me an AGIP - meaning an unprincipled person ready to serve any government in power. The period he was referring to was one in which my boss ran into bad political weather and some of us around him were scapegoated. I was locked in DSS detention many times, my houses in Kano and Abuja broken into and valuables, including cash some of which were never returned were seized. I was going to court for two years and for the most part of which I didn’t have a passport. In the course of that trial, the judge presiding called back my lawyers, Niyi Akintola, SAN and Rickey Tarfa, SAN, after an adjournment to say that “I didn’t mean that he should be kept in DSS detention. I said he should be taken to Kuje Prison,” and that’s where I was kept. Under detention in the DSS I was stripped down to the pants and photographed head to toe. All that didn’t make one to capitulate.

When they lost to Muhammadu Buhari in the party primaries, the candidates in that race, Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Waziri Atiku Abubakar, Rochas Okorocha and Sam Nda-Isaiah surrendered their media assets to the winner who had the grace to ask me to lead the media team. When we won, he (then President-elect Buhari) invited me to serve as one of his two spokespersons and I pledged 100 per cent loyalty to him and that’s where I am. This cannot be AGIP by any standards.

Reno should stop lying, if only to help the pastoral calling to retain its good name. Otherwise he should quit the ministry.

Morning Devotional For Monday 28th May

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 28TH MAY.

GLORIFY HIM BY DOING HIS WORD.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do (John 17:4).

The Lord Jesus, in the verse above, shows us how to glorify the Father. He glorified the Father by doing what He wanted Him to do. He thus gave us an example on how to give glory to God. It’s not just by saying, “Father, I give you glory,” no! You glorify Him by doing His Word; by producing Word-based results.

It doesn’t matter that someone is singing, “I give you glory, Lord”; if he isn’t a doer of the Word, the Lord isn’t glorified. You can stand in front of someone and say, “I give you food,” it doesn’t mean the person got the food from you. It’s like giving a testimony: you can say, “I just want to testify that Pastor Chris has really blessed me; praise God!” That doesn’t mean someone who’s listening understands what you’re saying. But if you begin to say what I did for you that blessed you, then those listening can understand you.

Now, it doesn’t quite mean that when you say, “Lord, I give you glory,” something is wrong with that; no! The point we’re simply making is that doing God’s Word is actually the best way to glorify Him. Then when you say, “I glorify God” or “I give God glory,” it makes spiritual sense because you’ve done that which actually provides that glory. You don’t want to give glory to God only to discover that He never received or accepted it.

Jesus said, “I have done what you asked me to do and you’re glorified.” That’s the way Jesus glorified the Father. It’s the reason you should study the scriptures to know what He wants, and do them. What the Lord is going to applaud and reward you for on the day of Judgment is His Word that you lived out.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, I thank you because your Word is alive and actively working in me, filling me with joy unspeakable and full of glory. I’m fully resolved to live to your honour and glory, by doing the Word and producing Word-based results, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Facebook user from Benue State by the moniker, 'Kuhe Alberts Hemennsse Doc' - has been arrested in Makurdi due to falsehood and criminal defamation of character. Earlier today, Kuhe had written a fictitious story on his Facebook wall under the title, "Wan Torkwas Alaaga, Tell Gov Ortom that engine oil boy died yesterday " alleging that the governor's convoy on Sunday knocked down one Aondohemba Ioryisa who later died due to internal bleeding.

But this story was false.

According to reports, Kuhe was said to be talking of one Agidi, an indigene of Mbabegha, Nzorov, Nongov, Guma Local government who was knocked down by an unidentified white SUV in Makurdi and sought the governor's help for medical assistance, where the governor directed that he should be taken care of. This particular young man is not dead and is pictured below with a bandage.

Kuhe was arrested by the police today and is at the moment under interrogation before he will be charged to court.

Kuhe who knelt down and begged for misinformation, revealed that he picked the story at a barber shop in Makurdi where he had gone to have a haircut.

Apostle Suleman Escapes Assassination Attempt By Hired Armed Men Along Auchi Rd
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2018, 11:29 PM - No Replies

The senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle (Prof) Johnson Suleman has yet again survived an attempt on his life. He made the revelation during the May 2018 miracle and fire night held at the headquarters church in Auchi, Edo State Nigeria.

According to the fiery preacher, he said after the Finland "Restoration and Supernatural Encounter Crusade he flew to Germany enroute Nigeria and while waiting for his connecting flight to Nigeria at the VIP lounge, he enquired from a lady at the customers desk if his flight is boarding and the lady told him that the flight isn't boarding.

He said after a while, he walked up to the lady again to ask her if his flight is boarding and the lady told him that the flight is not boarding and that she will inform him when the gate for boarding is opened.

Nevertheless, After about 30 minutes, he asked the lady if the flight is boarding and the lady told him that it is not yet time. The man of God said he checked his time and it was already 11.30 am and he decided to go to the boarding gate to find out what is happening only for him to be told that the flight has departed.

Apostle Johnson Suleman wasn't happy to hear that he missed his fight after getting to the airport two hours before departure. He called his wife to inform her about what happened and the wife told him that "For you to miss your flight, it is for a purpose"

Papa, as he is fondly called, said he tried to see if he could get another flight to Nigeria that friday but to no avail.

However, he said on Sunday a security personnel came to his office and told him that they rounded up some boys who were busy confessing that on Friday they were waiting for him in a hiace buses along Benin Auchi Road, fully armed and their mission was to open fire on his car.

God's oracle said he was moved to tears when the security personnel was talking and all he could do was to go on his kneels and thank God.

The man of God pointed out that an insider must have told the armed men his itinerary  and he concluded  by saying that "You See Me, I No Dey Fear. I don't get careful or get worried, I just stay connected"

I am "untouchable" he stated emphatically.

You would recall that early this year, there was also an attempt on his life. Apostle Johnson Suleman has remained adamant to the christian course in Nigeria. He is a voice to the body of Christ in Nigeria and he is among the few preachers who speaks against the killings and persecution of christians in Nigeria.

EXCLUSIVE: Atiku appoints ex-Ogun governor, Gbenga Daniel, as DG presidential campaign:
 
Barring last-minute change, a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, will announce the appointment of a former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel to lead his presidential campaign in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Mr Daniel had contested for the position of national chairman of the party in the last convention.

In a document obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN, which Mr Atiku personally signed, the ex-VP announced to members of his team the appointment of Mr Daniel, saying he is “a very positive and welcome addition” to his campaign.
“I am pleased to officially notify you of the appointment of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (“OGD” as he is popularly known), as the Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation,” the document read in part.

“OGD is a former two-term governor of Ogun State, and a foremost engineer, businessman and astute politician. He has vast knowledge of the Nigerian political terrain and has a wide network of contacts and friends all over Nigeria, and these are a few of the assets he will be bringing to our campaign organisation.

“I am in no doubt OGD is a very positive and welcome addition to our campaign and I look forward to working with him as he leads over campaign to victory come February 2019.

“Going forward, OGD as the Director General, has overall responsibility for every aspect of the campaign. This includes mobilization and organizing (delegates and supporters), publicity and communication, finance and expenditure. I am in the process of setting up a separate fund raising committee which will work alongside and complement the campaign finance structure.

“The DG will also have overall responsibility for personnel, resourcing and campaign staffing and any other political or campaign related matters, that I give my delegated authority.
“From now on, my role will be limited to continuing my consultations with the relevant stakeholders in the PDP and in the political landscape as a whole. All campaign or other staff will report to the DG with immediate effect, and all campaign or political matters will also be referred to the DG.

“The DG will report to me directly.”
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered from inside sources that the former vice president will make “grand entry” into the political turf as soon as he publicly unveil Mr Daniel.

Mace Theft: DPO Of National Assembly Transfered To Yobe Over Arrest Of Suspects.

The Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim » , has reportedly authorised the transfer of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the National Assembly, Sulu-Gambari Abdul to Adamawa State following the mace theft saga.

According to TVC News, which cited a source privy to the matter, Abdul was transferred as a punished for his earlier arrest of six persons suspected to be the attackers that stole the mace.

Suspected thugs had on April 18, 2018, invaded the Senate chamber at the National Assembly and carted away the mace, the upper chamber's symbol of authority.

DPO Abdul's testimony
The source was also quoted to have said that the DPO's testimony that some security officials, lawmakers and National Assembly staff may have colluded to organize the invasion and mace theft at the ongoing National Assembly Ad-hoc Investigative hearing on the matter got his superiors angry.
The Police IG was said to have felt that DPO Abdul went too far in revealing security information during his testimony before the committee which is co-chaired by Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Na'Allah and Honourable Betty Apiafi .

The report, still citing a source, further revealed that those who masterminded the DPO's transfer said he should have tread cautiously after the arrest of the six suspects and detention of vehicles which reportedly had the signature of an insider job.

Mass Exodus Looms In APC - Dailytrust

* Saraki, Dogara, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso meet, Discuss Three Options
* Set Up Committees To Advise on Next Move
* Final Meeting To Hold Soon

It has emerged that a meeting of aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was held on Wednesday where the participants weighed several aptions, with majority backing the idea of a mass defection from the ruling party.

The meeting was attended by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, among other chieftains of the APC.

A statement yesterday by the chairman of the nPDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, said the meeting was called to intimate members on the outcome of an earlier meeting with the leadership of the APC.

Baraje and other members of the nPDP on Monday met with APC stakeholders over allegation of marginalization against in the ruling party.

The group, in April, demanded to meet with officials of the ruling party to discuss their grievances and expectations from the APC and the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

“Following this development, the party invited us and we honoured their invitation for a meeting. We met with the leadership of the party last week, during which we resolved to report the outcome of our meeting to our members and stakeholders before arriving at any decision or proceeding with the next phase of discussions or actions with the APC and government,” Baraje said in the statement.

But on the list of the nPDP members at the Wednesday meeting provided by Baraje were names of political office holders that were never part of the nPDP or its parent party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), checks by Daily Trust on Sunday showed.

One of those in attendance at the meeting said last night that the meeting was not restricted to the members of the nPDP block in the APC alone as other ‘like-minds’ also attended.

As part of the outcome, it was learnt, there is the likelihood that the affected members would leave the party in en masse, Daily Trust on Sunday has learnt.

The source, who is a lawmaker, said they discussed issues relating to how some of them were treated during the last congresses of the party and the way forward.

The lawmaker, who was never part of the nPDP, said they may leave the party if no concrete action was taken to address their grievances.

The meeting was well attended, with some governors who could not make it sending their apologies, the source said.

“I was at the meeting as a like-mind, not as a member of the nPDP because I was never part of them. We felt that so many things are going wrong in the party. Most members of the nPDP are not well treated.

“Look at what they are doing to Dino Melaye, who is an APC senator. Even during the PDP era, nobody did such a thing to anybody. The police would drag a senator who suffered for the party on the ground and no action was taken.

“Again, if you look at the congresses held, many nPDP members were sidelined, so they need justice. But the ultimate decision taken is to give the party some time to see if they would address the issues. If they don’t, then we’ll have no option than to leave,” the source said.

Asked which party they would join in the event that their grievances are not addressed, the source said no decision was taken on that.“We all worked for the APC and we should be treated equally; that’s what we are saying,” the lawmaker added.

Another lawmaker, who is a member of the nPDP, confirmed that the meeting was for like-minds as other members also attended.

Another source, who was at the meeting, said the tone was set by the Senate president who opened the floor by speaking about the plight of the members of the nPDP in the APC.

The source said: “After Saraki spoke, he asked us what would be our next step. We told him that we thought the meeting was convened for us to pull out of the APC.”

The senator said, at the end of the meeting, they resolved to pick one of two options.

“One of the two options supported by the majority was the immediate pulling out of the APC. Almost everybody who attended the meeting supported this option.

“But the issue now is that we must forestall the repeat of what happened to us when we joined the APC. Most of the speakers said we must have concrete agreements between us and the party that we will cross to,” he said.

The second option was for them to remain in the APC and continue to consult and strategise, adding, however, that it did not go down well with majority of the aggrieved members in attendance.

“This last option was not supported by many of us. The first option was the one that majority of us supported. The meeting was well attended by almost all members of the nPDP from across the country,” he said.

Asked to name those who attended the meeting, the source who spoke after seeing the statement issued by Baraje said: “All the names listed in the statement were in attendance, but Tambuwal was just a listener at the meeting. He didn’t say anything.”

Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that the meeting set up three committees to advise it on the next line of action to take.

“The first committee has been tasked to articulate the grievances of those who attended the meeting, including nPDP members and many others that joined much later but could not be fully accommodated, a source said, adding, “The committee has been directed to look at the relationship with the APC and the presidency; how they were shoved aside by the current leadership and the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to fully resolve the problem,” the source said.

“The second committee was tasked to look at the state of the nation, including the economy and others. They were also asked to aggregate the political strength of aggrieved members in their states; the mass of people they could go along with in the event they would leave the party.

“The third committee is expected to shop for a strong political party they could join as a group so that they could negotiate from the position of strength,” he said.

Another source said the aggrieved members were already in talks with the PDP and ADC.

“Many of those that attended Wednesday’s meeting strongly feel that PDP is the party to join because Nigerians know it very well and it has structures all over.

“But the condition for joining the PDP is that the name should be changed. They want the letter ‘A’ to precede PDP so that the party would now be called ‘APDP’, and this is for two reasons. The first is to enable the party appear on top of the ballot paper so that Nigerians would find it easier to trace it. The PDP is down in the ballot; and remember that we have about 68 political parties now.

“The second reason is that in the event the ADC agrees to merge with the PDP, its first letter ‘A’ which stands for Africa that would be adopted,” he said.

“Even though the aggrieved legislators said in their communiqué that they would not leave the APC, that is not the actual case,” a source close to one of the aggrieved senators, said.

“Yes they would remain if their grievances are met, which is very unlikely because in most instances, it means that Buhari would tame governors in favour of legislators and others. The conceivable option is to leave the party. I can assure you that at present, at least 20 senators and no fewer than 100 members of the House of Representatives are set to go.

“And there would be a band wagon effect, meaning that more legislators would leave in the coming months ahead of party primaries in order to actualise their dreams.

“As things stand, with the exception of very few, many senators and reps have lost out the battle to their governors in their states after the congresses, and there are others, especially ex-governors who might likely leave despite the fact that they are in control of the APC in their states. They have security a report that the EFCC will not spare them immediately after the election,” he said.

The meeting was well attended by members of the nPDP, including serving and former governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and other aggrieved APC stakeholders, Baraje said in the statement.

“Those that attended the meeting include Sen. Saraki, President of the Senate; Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of Representatives; Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto State; Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso; Prince Oyinlola, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd); Sen. Adamu Aliero; Sen. Danjuma Goje; Sen. John Enoh; Sen. Andy Uba; Sen. Ibrahim Gobir; Sen. Rufai Ibrahim; Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba; Sen. Garba Umar Durbunde and Rep. Aliyu Madaki, he said.

“Others are Rep. Zakari Mohammed, Hon. Rufai Ahmed Chachangi; Hon. Razak Atunwa; Hon. Emmanuel M. Udende; Hon. Hassan Saleh; Hon. Nasiru Garo Sule; Hon. Orker Jev; Hon. Aliyu Ahman Pategi; Hon. A source close to Dogara confirmed that the Speaker attended the meeting.

Dogara has been having a running battle with the Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

Dogara did not attend any of the APC congresses held in the state.

Prior to the state congress held last week, he and other notable personalities such as Senator Isa Hamma Misau and Nazif Gamawa approached a court to stop the congress.

Contacted, the special adviser to Saraki on media and publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said he was not aware of any meeting between his principal and other members of the APC.

“I do not know anything about the meeting. You said a statement had been issued, why can’t you stick to it?” Olaniyonu said in a phone interview.

Buhari Speaks From Both Sides Of His Mouth - Obasanjo

@POLITICSNGR

More information has emerged on ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo's meeting with Pan-Yoruba organization, Afenifere in Akure, Ondo state last week.

PoliticsNGR learned that at the meeting with the leadership of the group, Obasanjo listed solid reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari must be stopped from securing another four years in office. Obasanjo pointed out that Buhari had consistently dodged the issue on Fulani Herdsmen were responsible for the death of several people in the country.

He disclosed that the President's body language towards the activities of the Herdsmen was making the job of security agencies difficult. According to Tribune, a source quoted Obasanjo as saying;

"He (Buhari) often speaks from both sides of the mouth on the issue of armed herdsmen killing of innocent citizens. At times, he would say the herdsmen are not Nigerians; that they are from Niger, Mali, Chad and other neighbouring countries.

In the same breath, the president would say we should learn to live and cope with our neighbours, talking of the Middle Belt groups and that the crisis is an internal matter.

At another time while in the United States, he said it was the fighters from Libya that were behind the killings. So, if the Nigerian military were to act, it will be against the position of the president. Therefore, the military had to be careful."

Obasanjo reportedly added that he had restrained himself from openly speaking on the activities of the herdsmen, apparently not to evoke any unnecessary passion.

An unusual incident was witnessed at a wedding yesterday in Delta state after the pastor who conducted the wedding was disappointed by the couple. According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, the pastor became angry after seeing the assorted alcoholic drinks the couple brought for their wedding reception against their church principles and beliefs...

The pastor reportedly gave the couple some time to remove all the drinks at the wedding event. When the time had elapsed and the drinks had not yet been removed, the pastor ordered all the church members to leave the reception.

The pastor and his members were on their way going before the couple begged them and finally removed all the drinks, that was when the pastor came back to the reception.

Chris Kwakpovwe, Church Ordered To Pay N9m To Member Who Lost 7 Teeth At Crusade
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2018, 04:08 PM - No Replies

A Lagos State High Court has ordered the writer/publisher of Our Daily Manna, Rev Chris Kwakpovwe and the Registered Trustees of the Chapel of Liberty Church to pay a lawyer, Tamara Egbedi, N9, 454,000, for negligence.

According to TheNation, Egbedi had gone to court after she lost seven teeth and suffered other injuries when she fell into an uncovered concrete gutter running in between the seats during an anointing service organised by Kwakpovwe at the National Stadium in Lagos in 2010.

Delivering judgement in suit no. LD/359/2011, Justice SBA Candide Johnson said that from the evidence adduced by the parties, it was clear that Ms. Tamara suffered injuries at the venue while attending the crusade.

“It is difficult not to observe that for the Defendants who put themselves forward as spiritual shepherds of their sheep that they appear to have demonstrated scant care and concern for victims of their January 2010 spiritual crusade and have likewise by the letter of their lawyers (Exhibit F) dared this Claimant to go to Court, the Defendants appear to have elected carnal warfare over spiritual warfare thus leaving it to the Courts of Law to intervene,” he said.

Continuing, the judge said:

“It is virtually ridiculous for Rev. Dr. Chris E. Kwakpovwe to invite the general public and the Claimant to a programme which they expected to and which “recorded a huge attendance” and then without any remorse or conscience, argue that they only rented space at the National Stadium so he and his religious ministry owed no duty of care or concern for the welfare and safety of the guests they had invited to their own spiritual “party” or event organized by their church.

It is this type of reckless impunity and consciencelessness that makes many people complain about callousness and wickedness in Nigeria.”

She said she informed Rev. Kwakpovwe at the end of the service. She said the defendants denied liability and insinuated that her threat to go to court smacked of gold digging and expressed readiness to “meet you in court.”

Nigerian Stock Market Loses N416b In One Week Amid Political Anxiety
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment

By Dipo Olowookere

The heating up of the political terrain in the country is gradually having a negative effect on the Nigerian stock market, Business Post reports.

During the just-concluded trading week, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) lost about N416 billion as a result of huge selling pressure at the market.

Analysts had predicted that trading during the week would be positive as a result of improving macroeconomic indices in the domestic space, especially with the further ease in the inflation rate, positive GDP growth, passage of the 2018 budget and retention of the interest at 14 percent by the apex bank.

However, these did nothing to drive the equity market up last week as the stock market did not record any single rise throughout last week.

This was attributed to profit-taking activities by investors, especially foreign investors, who are parts of the major drivers of the local bourse. It was observed that foreign investors are reassessing their portfolio compositions so as to limit their losses as a result of political intrigues in the country ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Business Post reports that at the close of transactions last week, the All-Share Index (ASI) depreciated by 2.84 percent to settle at 39,323.62 points, while the market capitalization decreased by N416 billion to finish at N14.244 trillion against its previous close of N14.660 trillion.

During the week also, a total of 14 equities appreciated in price, lower than 20 in the previous week, while 61 stocks depreciated in price, higher than 54 equities of the previous week, and 94 counters remained unchanged, lower than 95 recorded in the preceding week.

A total turnover of 1.372 billion shares worth N16.022 billion in 21,099 deals were traded last week by investors on the floor of the exchange in contrast to a total of 1.457 billion shares valued at N23.666 billion that exchanged hands the previous week in 19,674 deals.

It was further observed that the Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 1.010 billion shares valued at N8.670 billion traded in 12,049 deals; thus contributing 73.62 percent and 54.11 percent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

The Services Industry followed with 107.246 million shares worth N229.715 million in 712 deals, while the third place was occupied by Consumer Goods Industry with a turnover of 71.946 million shares worth N5.506 billion in 3,818 deals.

Trading in the top three equities; Zenith Bank, African Alliance Insurance Company and Ikeja Hotel, measured by volume, accounted for 276.876 million shares worth N2.939 billion in 2,112 deals, contributing 20.18 percent and 18.35 percent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

The top gainer for the week was Ikeja Hotels, which rose by 44.94 percent to settle at N2.58k per share.

It was followed by MRS Oil Nigeria, which appreciated by 21.18 percent to finish at N36.05k per share, and Law Union and Rock Insurance, which increased by 20.99 percent to close at 98k per share.

Niger Insurance grew by 19.05 percent to end at 25k per share, while Consolidated Hallmark Insurance increased by 11.11 percent to finish at 30k per share.

On the flip side, Eterna closed the week as the worst performing stock after shedding 22.27 percent of its value to close at N5.27k per share.

It was trailed by Japaul Oil, which went down by 20 percent to end at 24k per share, and Dangote Flour, which decreased by 16.82 percent to close at N8.90k per share.

Transcorp declined by 16.35 percent to close at N1.33k per share, while AIICO Insurance fell by 16.18 percent to end at 57k per share.

Also traded during the week were a total of 70 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N1,943.00 executed in 7 deals, compared with a total of 153,246 units valued at N4.009 million that was transacted in the preceding week in 22 deals.

In addition, a total of 10,754 units of Federal Government bonds valued at N11.412 million were traded during the week in 5 deals, compared with a total of 7,508 units valued at N7.506 million transacted in the previous week in 12 deals.

CAN Wants The FG To Relocate Nigerian Embassy To Jerusalem

Quote:Abuja – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the Federal Government and other countries to relocate their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Rev Samson Ayokunle, CAN President, made this call in a statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant, Media and Communications, CAN, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ayokunle, while commending the Israeli Government on its 70 years anniversary of their country, said the relocation of the capital was“Special Anniversary Present from the God of the Patriarchs.”

According to him, the declaration made by President Donald Trump on Dec. 6, 2017 was a fulfillment of the Biblical prophecy.

“It is our prayers that other countries including Nigeria will relocate their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“We appreciate the leadership role of the United States in the landmark historic event.

“We are happy that countries such as the United States of America, Guatemala, Honduras, Romania and Paraguay have relocated their embassies from Tel Aviv,’’ he said. (NAN)

Reno Omokri: "Why Adams Oshiomhole Is A Proven Liar"
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-27-2018, 04:03 PM - No Replies

Quote:Adams Oshiomhole is a Proven Liar So Nigerians Should Not Be Surprised at His Most Recent Lie

That Adams Oshiomhole is a confirmed liar has already been proven by no less an institution than the State Department of the United States Government.

It will be recalled that on July 27, 2015, Adams Oshiomhole alleged that the State Department of the United States Government told him while he was on an official visit that just one minister who served under President Jonathan stole $6 billion from the treasury.

At that time Oshiomhole said:

“The PDP destroyed the country. I mean from the lips of American officials, senior officials of the State Department said one minister, under PDP, cornered as much as $6 billion. The man said even by Washington standards, that is earth-shattering.”

However, the very next day, the State Department of the United States Government denied Oshiomhole’s assertions and said as follows:

“The U.S. should not be drawn into such irresponsible comment as alleged by Mr. Oshiomhole.  America has a transparent administration that doesn’t hide when people make a statement.  If Mr. Oshiomhole claims a U.S. official told him that a Nigerian minister stole $6 billion, he should name the official instead of hiding behind an anonymous source.”

The truth is that Adams Oshiomhole is embarrassed by the monumental thievery uncovered under the Buhari Administration and is eager to divert the public’s attention from such including:

* The $25 billion NNPC Contract Scam
* The return, reinstatement and double promotion of Abdulrasheed Maina
* The failure to announce who owns the $43 million Ikoyi Apartment loot
* The reinstatement of the Executive Secretary of the NHIS despite his indictment for misappropriating ₦10 billion
* The non prosecution of former SGF Babachir Lawal
* The recent HSLi ‘Israeli’ $195 million contract scam
* The double payment of the Abacha lawyers scam
* The ₦1.1 billion budgeted to clean the NSA’s office, amongst others.

I also call on journalists to go to Abuja and Edo State to appraise the value of Adams Oshiomhole’s homes which are more expensive and worth more than former President Jonathan’s homes in Abuja and Bayelsa. Yet former President Jonathan was a deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President and President while Oshiomhole was a labour leader before becoming a Governor. From where did he get the money to build such palatial homes?

Since Adams Oshiomhole is desperate to be Chairman of the sinking All Progressive Congress, let me throw a little teaser to him.

Former President Jonathan initiated, started and completed over 1000 projects in three years including:

* 12 new universities
* 120 almajiri schools
* Revival of Lagos-Kano rail
* Reconstruction of Benin-Ore rd
* Reconstruction of Vom-Manchok-rd.
* Conversion of Enugu airport to international
* Introduction of BVN
* The YouWIN initiative
* The Graduate Internship Scheme
* The rebasing of the Nigerian economy

I now challenge Adams Oshiomhole to take the #BuhariChallenge and do the same.

That is what Nigerians want to know, not desperate lies from a failing regime.

Finally, let me add that no matter how many EFCCs Buhari unleashes on former Peoples Democratic Party Presidents like Dr. Jonathan and President Obasanjo, the moon can never be the sun and they can never achieve what Obasanjo or Jonathan achieved. Who even created EFCC? Is it not the PDP?

No matter how much a stream denies its source, we still know from where the water flows!

Morning Devotional For Sunday 27th May

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 27TH MAY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ Follow His Will, Purpose And Plan✨

And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them (Numbers 20:11-12).

As Christians, we all want to please God; we want to do His will and succeed for Him. We want to know and fulfill His calling for our lives; we want to bring Him honour.

However, for all that to happen, we must follow, and accept His Word as absolute truth, for His Word is His will expressed. Through the Word, we know God’s plan, purpose, and the pattern He has set and we’re able to follow, and serve Him rightly.

In Christianity, it’s not just about doing what’s good, but doing it God’s way, for God’s purpose. Consider what we read in our opening text: Moses, instead of talking to the rock, struck the rock. Water came out, and the people drank to their fill, but God wasn’t pleased. He was angry with Moses.

Again, in the Book of Genesis, the Bible tells us how two brothers, Cain and Abel, brought their offerings to the Lord. Cain brought an offering of his choice, while Abel brought an offering of God’s choice: what God asked to be offered.

Cain’s sacrifice was rejected, because he didn’t follow the due order; he didn’t do what God wanted. Seeing that he was angry because his offering was rejected, God said to him, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?” (Genesis 4:7).

Thus, from the very beginning, God showed us that we’re supposed to serve Him according to His plan, not ours. It doesn’t matter how nice your plan may be; the question is, is it what God wants? Moses got the rock to produce water for the people to drink, but failed to glorify God.

You glorify God by doing His Word. Jesus said, “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” (John 17:4). That’s the way Jesus glorified the Father. He served the Father according to the Father’s will, purpose, and plan; you can’t do it any other way!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me your Word to live by, and manifest your glory. I’m a doer of the Word; I live in, and by, your Word, serving you in wisdom, walking in, and fulfilling your divine plan and purpose for me, to the praise and glory of your Name. Hallelujah!

Further Study:

1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD [as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and] to hearken than the fat of rams.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hebrews 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, [that] thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

27TH MAY.

I affirm that I am God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for me to do. I am so valuable to God and even the very hairs of my head are all numbered. I am living in the Sabbath of my life; therefore, my days on earth are full of Joy, grace, pleasure, beauty, and glory. Hallelujah. Sin shall never have dominion over me, for Christ Jesus died for me, and was raised back to life for my justification, thereby absolving me of every guilt and judgment of sin both now and forever. Hallelujah. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and all of Heaven tabernacles on the inside of me. I am full of the Holy Ghost and power. In my body; there is no place for the devil, sickness, and disease. There’s no place for weakness, and failure because I am daily vitalized by the Holy Spirit. I’m in the centre of God’s will and purpose for my life and I am well furnished and equipped by the Holy Spirit who perambulates all through me. Hallelujah. There’s no challenge or problem that is strong enough to destroy me because the greater One lives on the inside of me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

5 romantic ways to tell a guy that you like him
User Avatar Forum: Romance

Pulse couple

Some men are so blind to everything other than football, latest tech device, trendy sneakers among others and a great challenge getting him to even look at you for more than a minute.

It’s not easy but here are 5 simple ways to win him over.
  • Straight up tell him
Sometimes, you just the hit the nail right on the head. If it is taking too long for him to approach you, just let him know how you are feeling.

Practice it over and over again in front of your mirror and confidently tell him if nothing else works for you.

  • Have an interest in his interests
One easiest way to gain his attention is by developing an interest in the things he is interested in. He is likely to talk about on his social media interest and you can easily join the conversation. He will start to see you as compatible and that’s close enough in guy world.
  • Compliment his looks
Men also love it when women compliment their looks. Take advantage and tell him how sexy he looks every day and he will also notice how you look. He will start to pay attention to your personality if there is a chance that you can have some drinks after work.

  • Use body language
Let him know how much you're into him with your body gestures. Unfortunately, men are always focused on what your body is doing than what your mouth is saying.

When you two are talking, lean in closer, flip your hair flirtatiously, and sway your hips when you walk away. These are all ways to show him that you’re interested, and he will definitely be paying attention.

  • Smile more
Smiling is basically a universal sign of happiness. People love to hang around people with positive vibes. Let go of your bitter past and try to be especially around him. If you’re really that interested in him, this might just be automatic.

Okorocha Has Gone Again To Complain To Buhari Over Imo APC Politics
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-26-2018, 07:57 PM - No Replies

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha paid President Muhammadu Buhari a fresh visit on Thursday at Aso Rock villa, this time in company of former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, has political watchers wondering, with some already concluding that it may not be unconnected to the controversial primaries held in Imo.

However, Hillary Ekeh, state chairman of the APC, who has refused to acknowledge the suspension order on him by the state exco, while speaking to Daily Sun asserted that Governor Okorocha’s visits with the President are meaningless, insisting that the party stance on the congresses are final.

Ekeh said that the congresses were duly conducted in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the party, reaffirming that the governor’s visit will be of no impact.

“It is not possible, we do not need to go to Abuja to visit the President. The congress committees have already written their reports – which is the final journey – and they did that in accordance with the congress guidelines. It is not ‘Kalu and Kalu Nigeria Ltd’, this is APC,” he said.

Ekeh went on to say that: “The party has a constitution, Oshiomhole is an aspirant, if he wins, he will also come in to be sworn-in to guide and defend the constitution of the party. Even if he wants to amend the constitution of the party, it is the NEC that would do that. So Okorocha’s visits does not have any influence. Maybe Oshiomhole is going to solicit for the President’s support for himself.”

Speaking on why the state congress election was held at a different venue, Ekeh alleged that the invasion of the state party secretariat earlier by thugs caused the relocation of the election to another venue, of which the national leadership of the party was already aware.

Speaking on having held the congress at night, Ekeh said: “It is only a novice who does not know that elections can enter into the night; this is a congress where government thugs set the party office on fire, and the congress guidelines say that the congress must take place at the party secretariat, and if the party secretariat is not convenient for the congress to take place there, that the chairman of the congress committee would chose another public venue that is not a residential house by himself and inform the state chairman of the party, who in turn will inform the delegates of the new venue. The chairman could see that the place was burnt and besieged by thugs and police, then he went round to chose another place after writing to the national party. So there is no guideline that says the party can not hold at night.”

Governor Okorocha, on his part, has said that he and Oshiomhole’s visit with President Buhari should not raise eyebrows.

Speaking on his behalf, Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary Sam Onwuemeodo said that as the Governor, as chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and leader of the party in the state, does not need permission to visit the President.

“Do not forget that asides being governor of Imo and, indeed of APC extraction, he is also, by the grace of God, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum. So, from time to time there could be reasons to warrant his going to see President Muhammadu Buhari. In other words, his visit to Mr President at any time shouldn’t raise any eyebrows,” he said.

The spokesman similarly noted that visiting the President with Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and a front line aspirant to the national chairmanship of the APC, should also not be seen as unusual.

“Nothing stops the former Edo State governor from asking him [Okorocha], in his capacity as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, to accompany him to see the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, perhaps, to intimate him of his legitimate ambition to lead the party,” Onwuemeodo said.

“Yes, the Governor had gone to complain of the bad politics played with the party’s congresses in Imo. The stealing of the sensitive materials for the congresses, which were later found in a hotel in Abuja with the aides of those who made away with the congress materials. The ugly incident had a lot of security challenges which the culprits were obviously not mindful of. The disappearance of the congress materials could have led to major security challenges in the state if not for the statesmanly way the Governor handled the whole situation. So, the Governor had gone to the President as the leader of the party in the country to complain of what could rightly be described as a deliberate denial of Imo people, especially APC members in the state, the right to elect their party officials, by those who carried out such worrisome action. The Governor, as a good party man, did what was expected of him in the circumstance.”

The spokesman concluded that “It is also wrong for anybody to begin to link every visit of the Governor to the President with the issues arising from the aborted congresses in Imo. The Governor visits the President and will continue to do so whenever the need arises.”

  Buhari: "Osinbajo's VP Position Threatened"
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 05-26-2018, 07:55 PM - No Replies

Quote:ONLY President Muhammadu Buhari could say whether he meant it or he was joking when he declared on Friday that the position of his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, after the 2019 general election, could not be guaranteed.

The Vice President’s office declined comments when contacted on Friday by Saturday Tribune.

President Buhari was reacting to a request of some female lawmakers who visited him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, that he should cede the post of the vice president, some Senate and House of Representatives seats to them in next year’s election.

The women from various states of the federation, under the aegis of Conference of Nigeria Female Parliamentarians (CONFEPA), urged the president to consider a woman for the post presently being occupied by Professor Osinbajo.

Buhari told his guests that with their request, Osinbajo’s job was being threatened.

“It is a pity that the Vice President is not here, but I am sure the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will brief him that his position is threatened,” Buhari said.

On their request for him to make a pronouncement for more legislative seats for women, the president reminded them that he was not “as powerful as you think,” noting that he lacked the powers to make such a pronouncement.

He said such request could only be made by a military head of state as he reminded them that he had already dropped the uniform for “agbada.”

He said: “I am not all that powerful that when I talk, it becomes a decree. As I said, it is only the Vice President that is threatened”.

The president appreciated the support given to him by women in the four times he ran for president.

He recalled reports he received during elections of pregnant women queueing up to vote for him.

Buhari urged the delegation to take a message to their colleagues to extend the same support since he has declared to seek a second term.

But Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, when asked to react to the president’s statement, declined comments, asking why he was being asked to comment on what the president said.

“The president has spoken (so) why are you asking me to comment,” he told Saturday Tribune when he was contacted by phone on Friday afternoon.

Led by a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, the women also demanded that the president make a pronouncement that one out of every three senatorial positions in states as well as three out of nine seats in the House of Representatives be reserved for women.

Reading from a prepared text, Ativie said: “Your Excellency, all over the world, the issue of women is being advocated.

“Currently, many African and European nations are daily finding ways to include more women in governance. Some have elected or appointed women as Heads of States, Prime Ministers, Heads of Foreign Ministries and other key positions of decision making.

“It will not be out of place, Your Excellency, for women to be given such opportunities in our dear nation. Even God created them male and female.”

Mrs Ativie told President Buhari that Nigerian women were being marginalised by their male counterparts.

She pointed out Nigeria had had only one female principal officer in each of the two chambers of the National Assembly since return to democracy in 1999.

She noted that as president, whatever Buhari says “will become policy and subsequently law”.

Ativie added: “Politically, women account for over 50 percent of voters in any election. They are very loyal politicians and do not cross-carpet. They wait patiently to cast their votes under the rain and even in the scorching sun.

“It will interest Your Excellency to know that Nigeria is a signatory to several conventions and treaties supporting and encouraging the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, women liberation and political participation such as the African Charter in Human Rights (1981).

“The Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW, 1995), the Beijing Declaration and platform for action (1995), the goal No. 3 of the Millennium Development Goals No. 5 (SDGs), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) to but a few.

“However, Nigerian women have not been given their rightful place in the scheme of things. Women political empowerment in Nigeria ranks a lowly 111th position of 145 countries surveyed in the 2015 Global Gender Gap Report.

“Today, Nigeria falls short of the National Gender Policy benchmark of 35 percent minimum representation for women as well as the global and regional benchmarks of which she is a signatory, ranking 181 out of 193 countries in female representation according to statistics from inter parliamentary union.”

The former Speaker extolled the qualities of the president, saying: “The impunity with which the former handlers embezzled with reckless abandon has become a thing of the past in our country because of Your Excellency’s doggedness, courage, firmness and integrity in standing for truth, fairness and equity.”

While allaying fears of female marginalisation, President Buhari gave the assurance that women were being fairly treated as not many of them would have been elected if there was any plot against them.

Policemen Disappointed As Thief Escapes Through Gutter After Hot Pursuit. Photos

Some police officers and security operatives were visibly downcast and disappointed after a thief got away from them during a hot pursuit. According to Facebook user Emmanuel, the security agents were pursuing a robber who stole a mobile phone from a victim before the thief decided to play a fast one on them by jumping into the big gutter and escaping through the tunnel.

The policemen had to stop their pursuit at the point as they ''hoped'' the thief would resurface.

A large crowd gathered at the gutter as they joined the security men in waiting for the thief who had long escaped.

Presidency Releases Document Detailing Buhari’s Achievements In 3 Years READ!!!
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 05-26-2018, 07:23 PM - No Replies

Ahead of Democracy Day on May 29 this year, the presidency has published a document reeling out President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements during his three years in power.

Buhari was elected under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), defeating then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He was sworn into office on May 29, 2015.

In his inaugural speech, the president stated that his administration will focus on the economy, fight against corruption, and provision of security.

The document reads:

Economy
The presidency says the Nigerian economy is back and is on the path of growth after the recession of 2016-17.

It said the Buhari administration’s priority sectors of agriculture and solid minerals maintained consistent growth throughout the recession.

It said inflation has fallen for the fifteenth consecutive month while the nation’s external reserves are at their highest levels in five years, currently double the size of October 2016.

“The new FX Window introduced by the CBN in April 2017 now sees an average of $1 billion in weekly turnover, and has attracted about 45 billion dollars in inflows in its first year, signalling rising investor confidence in Nigeria

“Nigeria’s Stock Market ended 2017 as one of the best-performing in the world, with returns of about 40 percent,” it said.

It also said five million new taxpayers were added to the tax base since 2016, as part of efforts to diversify government revenue.

Also, tax revenue increased to N1.17 trillion in the first quarter 2018, a 51 per cent increase on the first quarter 2017 figure.

The government said N 12.7 trillion was spent on infrastructure in the 2016 and 2017 budgets, “an unprecedented allocation in Nigeria’s recent history.”

Other economic achievements, stated by the presidency, include the revitalisation of 14 moribund blending plants under the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, and the tripling of revenue to the Federation Account from solid minerals.

It said the revenue tripled from N700 million in 2015 to N2 billion in 2016, and again rose to N3.5 billion in 2017.

The presidency also said its Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), which was launched by Mr Buhari in April 2017, has stabilised the macroeconomic environment; achieved agricultural and food security and has also ensured energy efficiency especially in power and petroleum products.

It also said the ERGP has improved transportation infrastructure and industrialisation primarily through the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

“To fast-track the implementation of the ERGP, the federal government launched the ERGP Focus Labs, as a targeted 6-week intervention (March to April 2018) to unlock medium-scale and large-scale investment projects held back by bureaucratic bottlenecks.

“The just-concluded Phase 1 of the ERGP Focus Labs identified projects worth about $10 billion for fast-tracking, and the bottlenecks holding them back are now being resolved,” the government said.

In the area of monetary, fiscal and trade policies, the document stated that the APC administration created a new Foreign Exchange window for investors and exporters in April 2017 which has helped stabilise the market and increase appetite for Nigerian stocks by foreign portfolio investors.

“The new Window has attracted inflows of more than $45 billion in its first year of operation,” it said.

In the area of debt management, the document reveals that government adopted a strategy that seeks to achieve its goal by replacing Treasury Bills borrowing with lower-cost, longer-term external financing (via Eurobonds and Concessional Loans from China)

“The Buhari Administration inherited N12.1 trillion in debt, with N5.4 trillion annual servicing cost, and had reduced the debt service on this inherited debt to N3.9 trillion by 2016,” it said.

Under the Bond Issuance programme, the government said $7.3 billion was issued in Eurobond in 2017/18, to fund the 2017 Budget as well as to refinance maturing treasury bills and lower the cost of borrowing for the government.

“This debt refinancing strategy is paying off as treasury bill rates have dropped from 16-18% to 10-12% over the last year.

“The oversubscription of our recent Eurobond (the first issuance in 2017 saw orders in excess of US$7.8 billion compared to a pre-issuance target of US$1bn) demonstrates strong market appetite for Nigeria, and shows confidence by the international investment community in Nigeria’s economic reform agenda,” the government said.

Other debt related issues raised in the document include Nigeria’s first Sovereign Sukuk Bond which raised N100 billion used to fund 25 major road projects across the country.

There was also Nigeria’s first ever Diaspora-targeted Eurobond that raised $300 million used to fund part of the 2017 Budget and Africa’s first Sovereign Green Bond Programme that raised N10.69 billion used to fund infrastructure projects that tackle climate change.

$16bn Power Project: Keep Exposing Yourselves – Fayose Tells Buhari, Obasanjo
User Avatar Forum: Politics

Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State Governor, has reacted to the latest face-off between President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Recall that Buhari, while hosting members of the Buhari Support Organization led by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday, wondered what Obasanjo achieved after spending huge amount on power.

In a swift reaction, Obasanjo had stated that he was ready for probe over the $16bn allegedly expended by his administration on power project.

Reacting to the face-off, Fayose said both Buhari and Obasanjo should “keep exposing themselves.”

Fayose, who took to his official Twitter handle, stressed that by exposing themselves, Nigerians will know “what they have been hiding.”

The tweet reads, “I’m enjoying this latest brickbats between President Buhari & Ex-President Obasanjo. They should keep exposing themselves for Nigerians to know what they have been hiding.Nigerians should remember I warned that those who brought Buhari will regret entrusting him with power.”

Plane Carrying Dozens Of People Gets Hit By Another Plane While Trying To Take Off From Airport (Photos)
Posted by Samuel on Fri 25th May, 2018 -

A plane which was carrying dozens of people has been hit by another plane while it was trying to take off from the airport.

Two planes collided at Stansted Airport this morning as they prepared to take off

A Ryanair flight was clipped by another plane this morning as both prepared to take off from Stansted Airport.

The aircraft, set to fly to Dublin as hundreds head to Ireland today to vote in the abortion referendum, was hit by a Primera plane.

The wing of a Primera flight to Malaga clipped the tail of a stationary Dublin-bound Ryanair aircraft as they were both on the taxiway - before three fire engines raced to the scene.

Genevieve Hulme Beaman, aged 29, from Dublin, told the Independent: "My whole reason to get home is to vote, so as long as I get home to vote it's fine.

"You can vote until 10pm. I wanted to be there to support the women there, I have a lot of friends who are very emotional today and they could do with the support. It's not ideal to be here. I booked this early flight to be there for the whole day."

An airport spokesman said both planes were required to return to the stand after the "minor airfield incident" at around 9.15am today.

Passengers documented what happened after the two planes collided on the tarmac
[size=undefined][size=undefined]

Tom Hart, 30, was on board the Primera flight when he felt the blow from the Ryanair jet.He says around 200 passengers are now stranded at Stansted Airport and haven't been offered an alternative flight until 1.30am.

He told Sun Online: "We had already been delayed because of technical issues and as we were on the taxiway we felt a blow.

"I wasn't sure what had happened, it felt like there had been a strong wind, then we looked out of the window and it became clear what happened.

"We had to wait on the plane for around an hour before we were brought off and you could see dents in the wing of our plane.

"We're now totally stranded and the earliest alternative flight they've been able to offer us is 1.30am tomorrow morning.

"There have been no representatives from the airline giving us any information and it's been left to general airport staff.

"People are furious. We've got a wedding to get to tomorrow and other people have seen their plans thrown into chaos."

"No injuries have been reported and no evacuation was required from either aircraft," the spokesman added.

"As a precaution, airfield operations were briefly suspended, but all flights have now resumed."

The Irish polls officially open today, with many citizens around the world flying home to cast their votes.

They are voting on a referendum on whether to repeal the Eighth Amendment of the constitution, which prevents the Irish Government from legalising the procedure.

Another Irish passenger hoping to get back in time to vote said she was "extremely annoyed" by the delay.

Ryanair said in a statement: "One of our aircraft was stationary at the designated holding point on the taxiway at London Stansted Airport this morning when the winglet of a Primera Air aircraft taxiing behind scraped its tail stabiliser.

"Both aircraft were under the instruction of London Stansted Air Traffic Control at the time.

"The Ryanair aircraft returned to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.

"To minimise delay, customers will transfer to a replacement aircraft later this morning."

A Primera Air statement said: "The incident didn’t involve any injuries and evacuation was required for both aircraft. Currently technical teams are working on assessment of the damage.

"A substitute aircraft will be sent to Stansted airport to perform the affected flights and carry passengers to their destinations. Meanwhile, all passengers will be offered assistance by a handling agent.

"At the moment the expected delay for the flight to Malaga is about eight (8) hours."

Century Petroleum Announces The Proposed Reverse Merger With A Ibeto Group
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 05-26-2018, 11:40 AM - No Replies

May 25, 2018 10:39 ET | Source: Century Petroleum Corp
NEW YORK, May 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Century Petroleum Corp. (OTC:CYPE) (“Century” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a binding letter agreement dated as of May 25, 2018 (the “Letter Agreement”) with a leading Nigerian-based cement company, Ibeto Cement Company Limited (“Ibeto”). The Letter Agreement outlines the proposed terms and conditions pursuant to which Century Petroleum Corp and Ibeto Cement Company Limited will effect a business combination that will result in a reverse takeover of Century Petroleum by the shareholders of Ibeto Cement Company Limited (the “Proposed Transaction”). The Letter Agreement was negotiated at arm’s length. Per the Agreement, Dr. Cletus Ibeto has acquired 70% control of Century Petroleum Corp. Effective May 24, 2018, Mandla J. Gwadiso, newly appointed Chairman and CEO of Century Petroleum Corp has stepped down and Dr. Cletus M. Ibeto has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board effective immediately. Dr Cletus Ibeto was advised by Palewater Advisory Group Inc. on this transaction.

Ibeto Cement Company Limited, a privately held company organized/incorporated under the Nigerian laws, is one of the most dominant players in the fast-growing cement industry in Nigeria and, by extension, Africa. To increase its production and packaging capacity, the Ibeto Cement Company Limited is currently developing two cement plants in Nigeria namely: – one in Ebonyi State and one in Cross River State/Abia State. Each of the plant is a State-of-the-art 6,000 Metric Tons-per-day (TPD) plant and are sitting on an abundant deposit/reserve of quality limestones.

Ibeto Cement Company Limited is owned by the industrial Nigerian Billionaire - Dr. Cletus Madubugwu Ibeto, CON. Dr Ibeto is a world-class business leader and enterpreneur who has built successful companies/industries in Nigeria and beyond. Through Ibeto Cement Company Limited, Dr Ibeto has seriously impacted the cement market in Nigeria. This transaction will enable Ibeto Cement Company Limited to raise sufficient capital to dominate the industry in Nigeria and West African sub region as a whole.

Kent A. D. Clark, Chairman of Palewater Global Management Inc., the current parent company of Century Petroleum Corp, stated thus:

"The reverse merger with Century Petroleum Corp is a vital step in becoming a vibrant public company and is a key element of our growth strategy. This reverse merger is a significant accomplishment for the Palewater Global Management Inc. Team." Clark continued, "We believe the positioning of Century Petroleum Corp. as a publicly-traded company will afford all the greatest opportunity to capitalize on the rapidly growing demand for high quality, lower-cost industrial products around the world.”

Dr. Cletus Ibeto, The Chairman of The Ibeto Group, the parent company of Ibeto Cement Company Limited, Nigeria, opined that:

“Our key strategic objective in the vast and extensive development of Cement business in Nigeria and West African sub-region is to make cement affordable to all Nigerians and tiers of government in such a way that they should be able to develop modest homes for themselves and their families inclusive of road infrastructure. As far as I am concerned and with the knowledge I have and what I know in this business, the cement business is an investors’ haven especially in Nigeria and a much more profitable business than crude oil where a lot of people think is the best place to invest. This probably explains why the few people in the business have deliberately created very strong barrier to entry into the industry for prospective investors. It is therefore my honest belief that this reverse merger will enable us to accomplish this objective. In the end and, in line with our strategic intent and objective, we are geared to be a world-class cement company in terms of quality, affordability, innovation, service, environment, safety, and corporate governance and also to be a part of building the country’s needed infrastructure.

Dr Ibeto continued, it has been a long journey since I have been in business and none of my companies or businesses has been public. I have a desire to build a formidable structure for companies that will outlive me.

Moving on, everybody knows that I have had great success investing in Nigeria for myself, my family and the communities in which my businesses operate, but then the time has come for me to replicate the successes I have enjoyed in Africa on a global scale. My plan is to share my wealth of experience that has made me a leader in business today so as to ensure that which God has given to me as a gift, building successful businesses, benefits God’s people beyond Africa.

For me, this is a legacy I am building for generations to come. Century Petroleum Corp is the vehicle I plan to use as a catalyst of empowerment for all Nigerians and people all over the world as the shares of the company will be traded internationally”.

I am extremely excited to have Century Petroleum Corp as future part of the IBETO group and having taken over the reigns as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company will enable me to put together teams that will help grow the company and propel it and also members of the board that will help me breathe life into what Century Petroleum will ultimately become.

It is also my wish to state here that my years of experience in business as well as my success record, prove that I have the ability to build companies/businesses organically as I had done with the businesses that I have started from ground up and inorganically through businesses that I have acquired as means to grow swiftly in my vertical integration strategy.

Terms of the Transaction

The Proposed Transaction will be structured as an amalgamation, arrangement, takeover bid, share purchase or other similar forms of transactions or a series of transactions that have a similar effect with Ibeto Cement Company Limited acquiring total control of Century Petroleum Corp, whereas, the survivor/legacy of the merger would be called “Ibeto Cement International Corporation”, a transaction that will make Ibeto Cement Company Limited a 70% control shareholder of Ibeto Cement International Corporation (“the merger survivor”). The final structure for the Proposed Transaction is subject to satisfactory tax, corporate and securities law advice for both Century Petroleum Corps and Ibeto Cement Company Limited.

Completion of the Proposed Transaction is subject to a number of conditions, including completion of the merger, receipt of all necessary shareholder/shareholding and regulatory approvals, the execution of related/applicable transaction documents, approval of the SEC and Finra for the business combination and change of name.

In connection with the Proposed Transaction, the Company will be required to, amongst others: (i) change its name to a name requested by Ibeto Cement Company Limited and acceptable to applicable regulatory authorities; (ii) consolidate/consolidation of its outstanding Century Petroleum Shares on a basis to be determined (the “Consolidation”); (iii) replace all directors and officers of the Company on closing of the Proposed Transaction with nominees of Ibeto Cement Company Limited; and (iv) create a new class of non-participating super voting shares that would be issued to the founder of Ibeto Cement Company Limited, Dr. Cletus M. Ibeto, under the Proposed Transaction.

In the Proposed Transaction, existing shareholders of the Company as of immediately prior to the completion of the Proposed Transaction would hold post-Consolidated Century Petroleum Shares (whose voting rights will be subordinated) with a value, based on the merger. Further details of the Proposed Transaction will be included in subsequent news releases and disclosure documents (which will include business and financial information in respect of Ibeto Cement Company Limited) to be filed by the Company in connection with the Proposed Transaction.

No Sex Until Marriage: Linda Ikeji Is Wrong For Getting Pregnant - Funto Ibitoye
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 05-26-2018, 11:25 AM - No Replies

The news about Linda Ikeji’s pregnancy is no longer news, she made known her pregnancy last Sunday. However, it ought to be a good news but she got bashed by people for different reasons. Many people felt disappointed knowing she got pregnant before marriage because she was an advocate of Celibacy, many young girls have looked up to her and practice no sex before marriage but this her act was not accepted by them. Supporting her actions, she said if you finally find someone you love you can have sex with him.

@funtoibuoye on Instagram felt her reasons was not justifiable, that having sex before marriage is a sin and shouldn’t be condone.

I need to shake a particular table tonight, if not, I won’t sleep well… So I heard the gist about Linda Ikeji getting pregnant and all and that’s really her business, I mean, in this generation of baby mamas, getting pregnant out of wedlock is now something we celebrate and even buy aso ebi for… But that’s not what I’m here to talk about tonight.. It’s really her life and at the end of it, she’d stand before God not me… But what is burning my soul right now is this her response that I just saw on her page…. So you preach celibacy and millions of people follow you to practice celibacy, then you get pregnant and now come to say you “NEVER said do not have sex before marriage… Only have sex when you meet someone you love and loves you back.” SERIOUSLY[Image: huh.png]? I’m lost here! So I meet someone I love and have sex, years down the line it doesn’t work out, I meet another person I love and loves me back and we have sex.. Six months later we break up and I meet another person I love and the cycle continues… Is this what celibacy is about[Image: huh.png] what sort of double standard preaching is that[Image: huh.png]? Following a cause only when its convenient… Preaching something and not practicing it.. And then I see the comments and I’m SHOCKED at people I expect to know better congratulating her and clapping for her over the rubbish she’s saying, leading young girls straight to hell.. I’m so vexed in my spirit right now… Linda Ikeji is not God and God has not changed His laws to suit our generation, FLEEING from sexual immorality hasn’t been deleted from the bible and it won’t be now that Linda is pregnant! DO NOT HAVE SEX UNTIL MARRIAGE!! SEX SHOULD ONLY HAPPEN IN MARRIAGE!! I don’t care how many billions Linda is worth, having billions of money does not equate success in God’s kingdom, so if she likes she should buy the entire Banana Island, good for her.. What is wrong is wrong, let’s stop celebrating rubbish and nonsense because someone is “successful” and we clap at every rubbish she churns out while an entire generation of young ladies are being led straight to destruction. And if we Christians won’t talk about these things, then what’s the point of our Christianity[Image: huh.png]

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Presidency on Friday evening confirmed the receipt of the 2018 Appropriation Bill from the National Assembly.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, confirmed the development to State House Correspondents at about 8.30pm on Friday.
“I have received the budget on behalf of the Presidency. I am transmitting it now,” the presidential aide simply said.

With the development, officials of the Executive arm of government are expected to scrutinise the document alongside the one submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly last year.

The scrutiny will be done on ministry-by-ministry basis after which the Ministry of Budget and National Planning will then advise the President whether to sign the bill into law or return it to the National Assembly for amendment.

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, had on Thursday said the National Assembly would transmit the 2018 Appropriation Bill to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Saraki said this in an interview with State House correspondents after breaking the Ramadan fast with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
