Quote:Here is the moment Nollywood actor and singer, Charles Okocha aka Igwe2pac kissed a beautiful lady.

But the actor suddenly stopped because of the mouth odour oozing out from her mouth.

The lady asked him why he cut short the kiss, and he replied that he's perceiving heavy odour from her mouth.

The lady said it's a medical condition and that her doctor told her not to brush for about four weeks.

Charles Okocha's reaction is epic.

Indian Man In Lagos ‘Swallows Rat Poison After Arrest For N116m Fraud’
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-09-2019, 08:05 AM - No Replies

Quote:An Indian national, Lokesh Parwani, who allegedly attempted suicide after he was arrested for an alleged N116 million fraud, Thursday appeared at an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.

The Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (Force CIID), Annex, Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos arraigned Parwani, the Personnel Manager of an Indian-owned firm in Lagos, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and attempted suicide.

Police counsel Morufu Animashaun alleged that Parwani and his accomplices, who are on the run, conspired and defrauded his employer of the said sum on July 19, 2019 at Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Animashaun said the defendant’s employer reported the fraud to the police which, after investigation, confronted Parwani with the allegations on July 26.

The police arrested Parwani, but he allegedly attempted to take his life by quickly eating ‘Super Kill Action Ready Bait Cake’, a rat poison.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 411, 280(1) and 235 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and were punishable under sections 287 and 407 of the same law.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him in English.

Following his plea, Animashaun, prayed the court to remand Parwani in prison custody pending trial.

But the defendant’s lawyers, Gani Oyerevuegbe and Mustapha Danisi, opposed him.

They said Parwani had no criminal record and applied for his bail “on the most liberal terms.”

They would ensure his appearance in court for trial, they added.

In a bench ruling, Chief Magistrate K. K. Awoyinka granted the defendant N1 million bail with two sureties in the like sum, one of whom must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 10 in the Lagos Civil Service.

Both sureties must be residents of Lagos State, must provide evidence of three years tax payment, “payable to the state government.

“Each surety must furnish the court with account statements with a standing balance of N1.5 million and two recent passport photographs. The defendant should deposit his international passport with the Court’s Chief Registrar,” Mrs Awoyinka said.

She also ordered the prosecution to verify compliance with the bail terms.

Awoyinka remanded Parwani in prison custody pending fulfilment of the bail terms and adjourned till September 2, for trial.

An Anambra State-based pastor, Ejike Nwachukwu, has rejected ₦4million and a Sports Utility Vehicle offered to him by two suspected Internet fraudsters in exchange for prayers.

According to Punch, the suspected fraudsters had met Pastor Ejike Nwachukwu in his office to pray for the success of a deal they were to engage in.

When the pastor, a lawyer, studied them, he had to ask them of their source of income.

The Pastor revealed :

Quote:“Two young men came to my office the other day with ₦2m cash.

“They said it was seed offering and that they had a business they were looking forward to God to bless soon and that the money was seed offering.

“I looked at the two young boys with ₦2m. I asked them what business they were expecting and they said it was a deal and that they would bring more money to me once the deal paid off. They promised to buy me a SUV.

“I prayed and the Lord revealed to me that it was Internet fraud and I told them so and they confirmed it was true.

“I walked them out of my office, but one returned with an extra ₦2m in the hope that if the money was much, I would accept it, but I sent them out.”

The clergyman described those who indulged in Internet fraud as worse than armed robbers.

EFCC Arrests Six Yahoo Boys In Uyo (Photo)

It was time-up for six suspected internet fraudsters, better known as "Yahoo Boys" on Wednesday August 7, 2019, as operatives of EFCC, an early morning raid, stormed their apartment on No.28b Church Road Uyo.

The suspects are: Ugochukwu Ndukwu (a 25-years-old disc jockey, DJ); Stanley Ibeh, 27 (who claimed to be an interior decorator); Godwin Akpan and John Larry, aged 26 and 24 respectively, who both said they are students; Godwin Ini Obot, 27 who claimed to be a cinematographer and 24-year-old Victor Ejiogu, who said he was a serving member of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC).

Even though the suspects claimed to be involved in different legitimate lines of businesses and academic pursuits, forensic analysis of their laptops revealed scam mails and documents that established their involvements in internet fraud.

Upon their arrest, Victor Ejiogu, the 24-year-old NYSC member tried to conceal and destroy what would be incriminating evidences against them by throwing their laptops all the way down from the third floor of the three storey building where they live.

However, the Commission's forensic experts were able to power the laptops and retrieve the scam mails and fraudulent documents, the suspect wanted to destroy.

They are all currently making useful statements to the Commission and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Ogun Governor, Abiodun Under Fire For Underrating Obasanjo Before Buhari
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-08-2019, 11:31 PM - No Replies

Quote:A group of concerned Ogun indigenes has berated the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for allegedly underrating former President Olusegun Obasanjo during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The indigenes, under the aegis of Ogun Concerned Progressives, said Abiodun goofed for not acknowledging Obasanjo as one of the great indigenes of Ogun State who had played important roles in the development of Nigeria; saying posterity and history would not forgive the governor.

Abiodun had on Tuesday, July 30, led a delegation of 62 Ogun indigenes on a ‘thank-you’ visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja for conferring the highest honour of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the presumed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, late Chief MKO Abiola, who is a son of Ogun State.

In his speech at the gathering with President Buhari, Abiodun listed out Ogun State’s past and living heroes and heroines, who he said played critical roles before, during and after the nation’s independence.

He mentioned the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Rev’d Ransome Kuti, Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Olikoye Kuti, Dr. Beeko Kuti and Sen. Olabiyi Durojaiye.

Others listed in his speech included: Chief Segun Osoba, Chief Earnest Sonekan, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, Pa. Anthony Asiwaju and Chief Biyi Afonja.

However, the Concerned Ogun Progressives, in a statement signed by Olusegun Showunmi, expressed dissatisfaction that Obasanjo’s name was missing on the list of Ogun heroes, describing Abiodun as a hypocrite and an unserious child who seems not to remember his father’s name.

“It baffles us to note that a governor, who is still standing on one leg, could, even before finding his feet, allow his handlers to make him seem like an unserious child that cannot even remember the name of his father. Or how else can one explain the omission of the name of our father, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, from the list of Ogun State indigenes, who have made and have continued to make invaluable contributions and sacrifice for the Nigerian nation, by a man who says he is fit to lead a state as great as Ogun?” he stated.

Showunmi, who described the visit as a jamboree to waste Ogun state resources, recalled how Obasanjo was jailed and almost killed by the then Head of State, late Major Gen. Sanni Abacha, for standing against the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election.

He also noted that Obasanjo played major roles in fighting for the nation during the civil war; adding that Gov. Abiodun attempted to rewrite or falsify Nigeria’s contemporary history because of ‘pointless politics’.

“One cannot forget in a hurry that Obasanjo himself went to jail and even escaped death by a hair’s breadth in the hands of the goons of the late head of state, General Sani Abacha, over his attempt to find a way for the nation out of the logjam that resulted from the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. He still bears the scars of the inhuman treatment he was subjected to while in prison.

“How then would anyone, who is not acting in bad taste to massage the egos of some benefactors, choose to side step the most eminent son of Africa, living? This, definitely, is the Governor’s first needless major goof,” the statement read.

Showunmi submitted that the “unwarranted omission of Obasanjo’ s name was deliberate in order to “discount or discountenance Obasanjo’s contributions” to the nation.

“As citizens of Ogun State, we reiterate that for anyone, especially in the mould of the governor to choose, on such an occasion, to discount or discountenance Obasanjo’s invaluable contributions to nation-building is, to say the least, to do a great disservice to the country itself, the current and future generations.”

He added that “Those who decided to be sycophantic in the presence of President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over an issue they should have been dispassionate and unbiased about, should have known that the President, who has always acknowledged Obasanjo as his boss, would be discerning enough to see, through their antics, that they are confirmed hypocrites that will do the same to him when the table turns. We are sure that posterity and history would not forgive them for this travesty of justice.”

The statement maintained that “Obasanjo is a statesman and an eminent international figure, whose image would remain larger than life in the arena of global politics, regardless of whatever negative picture of his anyone tries to paint locally, now and forever.”

“His prominent place in the history of the Nigerian nation, the struggle for freedom and peace in Africa cannot be denied or extirpated by anyone, no matter how hard they try. He remains a living legend.”

Salihu Lukman Blasts Oshiomhole: APC worse off under you
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-08-2019, 11:19 PM - No Replies

The Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman, has blamed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for the diminishing fortunes of the party.

In a letter entitled “APC: Appeal for Reconciliation,” dated August 6, 2019 addressed to Oshiomhole, Lukman said: “As a loyal party member, I have difficulty reconciling the absence of meetings of superior organs given all the challenges the party is going through, warranting the suspension of three serving governors (two of them now Senators) and two members of NWC.”

Assessing Oshiomhole’s leadership, Lukman declared: “My distant observation is that there is hardly any difference between your approach in managing the party and the way Chief Oyegun had managed it during his tenure.

“Instead, things have really got worse and painfully, it would appear, you are in denial of this reality.”

He noted: “It would appear that the leadership problems facing the party are getting deeper and in the circumstances the business of building the party will be sacrificed.”

He also lamented the loss of governorship contests in Zamfara, Oyo, Imo, Bauchi and Adamawa owing to internal wrangling, warning similar scenarios might play out in Kogi, Ondo and Edo.

Lukman said: “It is a painful reality that we have found ourselves in situation of near stalemate in many states under your leadership.

“Embarrassingly, our leaders, including your very self, appear to be stubbornly inconsiderate of other options of resolving these challenges.

“If the electoral loss of Oyo, Imo, Zamfara, Adamawa and Bauchi are not a wakeup call to the dangers that lie ahead, what could have been?

“Is it that our leaders are indifferent to the possible return of People’s Democratic Party (PDP)?”

The Progressive Governors Forum DG added: “In all my years of association with you, I never imagine that one day you will be so comfortable as to be indifferent to challenges that could threaten our national democratic development.”

Urging the APC National Chairman to allow room for divergent views while proffering solutions to problems, as against grandstanding, he said: “Grandstanding with reference to technicalities is the trade mark of Nigerian lawyers, with due apologies, which has produced the reality whereby the capacity of our legal and Judicial systems to deliver justice are weak.

“Once our reference point is some of those technical details, which rationalises where we are, the tendency is that all proposals will be reduced to conquest scenarios, which may only deepen and create new conflicts.”

He queried the refusal of Oshiomhole to convene meeting of organs of the party, especially the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Caucus, stating his predecessor, John Odigie-Oyegun was removed for same infraction.

He removed his top and used it to clean my blood- 14 year old girl raped at knifepoint in Ikorodu recounts her experience

A 14 year-old girl residing in Ikorodu, Lagos state, has recounted how she was brutally raped at knife-point by a man simply identified as Dolapo, in a house at Fajemisi Kokoro Abu Street in Sabo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State on Monday August 5th.

The Nation reports that the victim, who is an apprentice with a salon, said she had left the salon to buy food for her boss when the incident happened .
On her way back to the salon, she was accosted by Dolapo who works at a gas operator shop on Fajemisi Koro Abu Street in Sabo, Ikorodu.

Quote:“I was coming from where I bought rice for my boss when the incident happened, I was heading back to the Salon when Dolapo called me to come but I did not answer him because I don’t know him. He then crossed my path by a house that is at a corner on Fajemisi Kokoro Abu Street in Sabo, Ikorodu and pushed me. He lifted up his yellow top, brought out knife and tied my mouth with cloth. He pushed me on the floor, dragged me to a room and said if I move, he will kill me and run away.
“He dragged me to the bed, removed my cloths, slept with me and afterwards I got dis-virgin. He removed his yellow top and used it to clean my blood; he opened the door and ran out with the cloth. I went out of the room and shouted, people came around, and some chased after him but did not find him. A woman took me to my boss shop; I was given some drug and shewbs. My mother later joined us and we went to report the incident at Igbogbo police station, then later went to the hospital.” the victim said

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the mother of the victim who simply identified herself as Monsura, said her daughter has three cuts on her private part because Dolapo forced himself on her.
Quote:“He dragged her, pushed her on the wall and brought out knife. When she came out of that room, there was sand all over her body. As she is with me, she is not well, she is not fine and she is not comfortable. She has since Monday been bathing with hot water and she cannot do anything by herself. If you see her, you will pity her, she has been wearing cardigan up and down since Monday and covering up herself with bed sheet.
“We took her to the General hospital in Itelewa, she was given medications and did several tests including HIV. The doctors said he has damaged her badly and that she has three cuts in her private part.
If I had power, I would make them carry the man Dolapo lives with, his parents and the owner of the gas shop. If all these people are arrested, Dolapo will appear.”Monsurat said

The distraught mum says he greatest fear is what Dolapo might have gone to do with the cloth containing her daughter's blood.
Quote:“Of major concern to me now is that Dolapo dis-virgin my daughter, cleaned her blood with cloth and went with the cloth. I’m concerned about the cloth with blood taken because of what is going on now in the country. Some people said they use it for money rituals; they said they sell it to the rich people to do blood ritual and that the blood of their victim gets dry and the person will not be ok. I have been to our Alfa to help her to be well. I don’t know what will happen to my daughter anytime soon because she is in pains now.” she said

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, Bala Elkana, said the matter is being investigated.
Quote:“We are investigating the matter and the case will be charged to court” he said

Abike: Out Of 21 Drug Dealers Waiting Execution In Indonesia, 20 From Anambra
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-08-2019, 02:30 PM - No Replies

Quote:Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has revealed that a trip she took to the Indonesian prison some years back revealed that out of the 21 Nigerian drug peddlers on death roll, 20 of them were from Anambra state while the remaining one was from Edo state.

Dabiri-Erewa disclosed this in a recent interview with The Cable. She noted that the commission is working towards creating awareness against the ills of drug trafficking, particularly reminding Nigerians as they collect their passports that death awaits them in some countries should they venture into drug trafficking.

Responding to a question on whether the commission provides counselling to Nigerians arrested for drug trafficking just as some other countries do, she said

The commission is planning that. So, with the commission on board, we are going to take it embassy by embassy. For example, if you are going to Indonesia and you carry drugs, you are dying. There is no debate. We went to Indonesia prison some years back, 21 Nigerians were on death row, and 20 were from one state – 20 were from Anambra state, and one from Edo. And when you get to the (Indonesian) airport, it is written all over, “penalty for drugs is death”.

So, from the point of leaving, we are going to be working with the NDLEA, with the embassies; in fact, as you collect your passport, they will tell you if you carry drugs, you are going to die. So, that is what the commission will be doing from country to country.

In India, for instance, if you say you are going to study, and you are going as a student. If you finish your education and you stay there, they will lock you up. India will not give you work. They will not employ you. So, we are going to have an information center that will be dealing with all those issues. We are going to have a place that you can call if you are in distress. That is almost at the final stage, so yes, it is important to share information. But I tell you, despite sharing this information, some will still do (what they want). But at least, let us know that we have given out all this information''.

Court grants DSS permission to detain Omoyele Sowore for 45 days

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the DSS permission to detain the convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, for 45 days.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruling on an ex parte application by the State Security Service, whose operatives arrested Sowore last Saturday, held that the detention order would be renewable after the expiration of first 45 days on September 21.

The SSS had on Tuesday applied for permission to keep Sowore for 90 days to investigate him over his call for revolution ahead of the RevolutionNow protests which held in some parts of the country on Monday July 5. The security agency anchored its application on the provision of section 27(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act.

Ruling on ex parte application, a one-sided request by the SSS without counter-argument by Sowore’s legal team, Justice Taiwo, said he had to grant the application, “only to the extent” of allowing the security agency to keep the respondent in custody for only 45 days for the applicant to conclude its investigation.

He said, although the hearing of the application was one-sided as provided by 27(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act, the use of the word,  “may”, in the provision “is directory” and not “discretionary”.

He said he would therefore, be failing in his duty not to grant the request for a detention order. He also said should the applicant require more time to conclude its investigation after the expiration of the first 45 days, it had the liberty to apply for its renewal.

US Immigration agents arrest 680 undocumented immigrants in Mississippi during nationwide raids (See photos)

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have arrested 680 undocumented immigrants in Mississippi during nationwide raids.

On Wednesday, August 7, the officials raided several food-processing plants in Mississippi and arrested approximately 680 people believed to be working without authorization.

The arrested workers were transported to a local Mississippi National Guard hangar where they were all questioned about their immigration status and if they had deportation orders.

US Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi Mike Hurst told reporters the arrests took place at seven sites in six different cities in Mississippi.

According to him, the raids are "believed to be the largest single-state immigration enforcement operation in our nation's history."

The arrests came as a result of administrative and criminal search warrants executed by special agents from Homeland Security Investigations, Hurst said.

"Today, through the hard work of these men and women, we are once again becoming a nation of laws," he said.

Acting ICE director Matt Albence also said that: "These are not new laws, nor is the enforcement of them new,"

"The arrests today were the result of a year-long criminal investigation. And the arrests and warrants that were executed today are just another step in that investigation."

The move comes a month after President Donald Trump had tweeted ICE’s plans to conduct raids to arrest and deport “thousands” of undocumented immigrants nationwide.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 8TH AUGUST.

HE CAME TO HELP YOU WIN

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things… (John 14:26 NKJV).

I would to God that every Christian would realize the power and importance of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives! He was sent to help you make a success of your life. He’s your Helper, and His help isn’t restricted; He helps you in all things. No matter what you’re going through in life, with Him, you’ll always win. That’s why there’s no position of disadvantage to you.

Don’t ignore Him. Even if the trouble seems too overwhelming for you as an individual, remember, He’s the One called to walk alongside you. You’re not alone. If you’d listen to Him, He’d grant you the wisdom that you need. If you’d trust Him, He’d rid you of every trouble, irrespective of the cause.
What you need is to train your spirit to listen and discern His voice. He leads you through the Word; therefore, He’d always bring you God’s Word.

Activate your spirit by praying in tongues. That way, your spirit becomes more sensitive to His signals and promptings from within you.

The Holy Spirit is more passionate for your success than you could ever be, but He needs your cooperation. He said in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” He doesn’t do His work in you, without you. You have a role, which is to yield to His sway and influence. His work and ministry in your life is manifested and effective to the extent that you allow Him. The more you cooperate with Him and encourage His work in your life, the more He manifests Himself in, and through you.

He’s the wisdom you require. He’s the strength you need. 1 Samuel 2:9 says, “…for by strength shall no man prevail.” Never depend on your own abilities. Do all that you do with the help and power of the Holy Spirit, and you’ll always win.

PRAYER

I’m filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, because the Holy Spirit lives in me. I’m rightly positioned in the centre of God’s perfect will, being yielded to the control, sway, influence, and guidance of the Holy Spirit, every day of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Xenophobic attack: Nigerian Students give South Africans 7 days to leave Nigeria

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has gven all South Africans and their companies operating in Nigeria to shut down within seven days and move out of the country, following the increasing number of Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

Akpan made the call at a press conference organised by the Chairman, National Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja yesterday August 7th.

At the press conference, Akpan said enough is enough with the xenophobic attacks. According to him, Nigerians have tolerated the attacks enough and a decisive action against South Africans must be taken to show strength by the Nigerian government. In his words

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday, gave all South African companies operating in Nigeria to shut down within seven days and move out of the country.

The umbrella body of students in Nigeria specifically mentioned telecommunications giant, MTN, Multichoice and Shoprite.

The ultimatum, which was issued at a joint press conference addressed by the leadership of NANS and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), came on the heels of incessant attacks and murder of Nigerians in South Africa.

President of NANS, Comrade Danielson Akpan, who handed down the ultimatum, said these companies linked to South Africa must leave Nigeria “in their own interest” as the students can no longer tolerate the incessant harassment, brutalisation and killing of Nigerians in South Africa.
In an address titled: “South Africans Must Go; Nigerians Return Home From South Africa,” Akpan recalled that members of NANS have been on the streets in major cities of Nigeria in the last two weeks picketing South African businesses to draw global attention to the mindless killings of Nigerians and looting of their properties in South Africa.

He said that the picketing exercise was peacefully carried with the hope that the government of South Africa and her citizens would end all forms of attacks on citizens of Nigeria and other African nations.

Quote:“Behold, the killings have continued and has even assumed a more dangerous dimension. This worsening development calls for a swift reaction. Importantly, we want to call on Nigerians in South Africa to reconsider their stay in South Africa and return home.
“Having gone through the first phase without any remorse or practical action to end xenophobic attacks in South Africa, we wish to announce that Nigerian students have decided to take on South Africans same way they are doing to our people. We have seen the helplessness of the South African government in reining in their citizens and wish to condemn in unambiguous terms the continued pampering of those involved. Every nation has own internal crisis hence no citizen of other nation should be sacrificed for criminal activities of South Africans or any other.
“Since the economic prosperity of Nigerians can no longer be tolerated and their lives secured in South Africa, there’s no need also to condone the continued flourishing of South African businesses and her citizens in Nigeria.
“We therefore wish to officially ask all South African-owned businesses in Nigeria to relocate in the next seven days. We specifically want Multichoice, MTN, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Shoprite and others to close their businesses in their own interest within seven days.
“In the same vein, we request that South African nationals in Nigeria should return to their home country as we can no longer watch them enjoy peaceful living in Nigeria while our citizens in their country continue to pay with dear lives for no reason other than being resourceful and flourishing in their businesses and career.
Quote:South Africans should henceforth leave Nigeria with all their businesses. Nigerians are not joking about it and we are giving seven days ultimatum for this action to be carried out. Diplomacy has failed''.

Dabiri-Erewa however appealed for calm from the Nigerian Students, stressing that the Nigerian government is working hard to ensure that the matter is resolved. She disclosed that the President Buhari will be meeting with his South Africa counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, to discuss on how to end the attacks.

According to her, Nigerians are reaching a tipping point as the killings are increasing by the day;

Quote:“We are reaching a tipping point, we are getting to a point where Nigerians are getting really angry and they can’t take it anymore.

It’s going to be one of the priorities that the Minister of Foreign Affairs would meet again with his counterpart in South Africa and review the early warning signal that was put in place, that has to be done while diplomatic Channels are being explored,” she said.

One more death again in South Africa… it is becoming unbearable for Nigerians, you don’t go there and come back with body bags so we just have to do everything we have to do, to ensure that it does not escalate to that level where we start picketing and destroying property… that is not who we are,” Dabiri-Erewa stressed.

Testo Drive 365 As you may need seen within the last couple sections, the world of diet pills is an absolute minefield. Weight-loss medicines are used together with Testo Drive 365y consuming and being more energetic. Within the case of weight reduction capsules, many people are wary of using them owing to how dubious or evasive the sellers and companies sound. Well, like i mentioned previously earlier, there are quite a few laxative food regimen plan solutions which can be utilized for weight-loss. Focus in your waist circumference and Testo Drive 365 markers (see advice #four) at first because it sometimes takes several weeks earlier than weight reduction is clear. However perhaps what I actually needed to help me drop pounds is skilled-level food plan counseling from a former Olympic athlete.

Police accuse soldiers of killing 3 officers and releasing a kidnap suspect in Taraba

The Nigeria Police Force have accused soldiers of killing three of their personnel while freeing a kidnap suspect in Taraba state.

According to a statement released by Frank Mba, the spokesperson of the force, he said police officers from the Intelligence Response Team IRT, were in Taraba to effect the arrest of one Hamisu, an alhaji “indicted in a series of high-profile kidnap incidents in the state. Hamisu who is a “notorious” kidnap kingpin has been on the Police wanted list for his complicity in several high-profile kidnap cases including the recent abduction of an Oil-Mogul in Taraba State wherein a ransom of about One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) was paid.

Mba says the police officers had arrested Hamisu but was set free by some soldiers who attacked the police officers.

Quote:''The soldiers thereafter released the handcuffed suspect, Alhaji Hamisu, who is now on the run. The Police Operatives, led by ASP Felix Adolije of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) reportedly came under sudden attack and serious shooting by soldiers of the Nigerian Army, along Ibi – Jalingo Road, Taraba State.
The Operatives, who were taking the arrested suspect, Alhaji Hamisu to the Command Headquarters in Jalingo, were shot at severally by the soldiers despite sufficient proof that they are Police personnel on legitimate duty.
Three Policemen (comprising one Inspector and two Sergeants) and one civilian died as a result of gunshot injuries sustained in the attack while others sustained serious gunshot wounds.” Mba said

Mba said the police have commenced full investigation into the “bizarre and unfortunate incident.”

The Nigerian Army is yet to react to this allegation.

Kaduna state government files fresh suit challenging court order permitting El-Zakzaky’s medical trip to India

The Kaduna State government says it will be challenging the state High Court's decision to grant the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) aka Shi'ites, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, permission to travel India for medical attention. The court granted El-Zakzaky and his wife permission to travel on August 5th.

In a statement issued and signed by the state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, today Wednesday August 7th, the Kaduna state government says it has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm from Medanta Hospital, India, whether it has given  El-Zakzaky and wife appointments to visit the hospital and check all diplomatic arrangements regarding the trip.

The statement also asked each of the embattled clergyman and his wife to provide an undertaking that they will come back to face their trial adding that they shall bear the cost of their travelling, medication and living while in India.

According to the statement, El-Zakazky and his wife must provide two reliable persons as sureties, one being a first-class Emir/chief or a very prominent person in Kaduna who will be present whenever they are needed in court. Aruwan added that the Federal government has been advised to obtain a guarantee from the Indian government that they will not entertain anything like political asylum from El-Zakzaky or his wife.

Read the press statement below

Quote:Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky is facing criminal trial before the Kaduna High Court on charges filed in April 2018. The Kaduna State Government is prosecuting Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky on an eight-count charge, including culpable homicide punishable with death. He and his wife are the first and second defendants in The State versus Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Another (charge no. KDH/KAD/60c/2018), and his plea was taken on 2nd August 2018. His application for bail was refused on 4th October 2018, and he has since remained in the lawful custody of the state, and not in unlawful detention as being wrongly disseminated.
On Monday, 5th August 2019, the Kaduna High Court granted an application for medical leave filed by Mr. El-Zakzaky and his wife, Mrs. Zeenah Ibrahim. The court specifically said it was granting the two defendants “leave to travel out of Nigeria for urgent medical treatment at Medanta Hospital, India, under strict supervision of the Respondent and to return to Nigeria (for continuation of trial) as soon as they are discharged from the hospital”.
The Kaduna State Government respects the right of anyone to seek treatment anywhere in the world, even for malaria or common cold, so long as they are paying for it. But in the case of persons facing trial for serious offenses, necessary safeguards are required to ensure that such persons do not become fugitives from justice or frustrate trial by claiming asylum or the status of political prisoner in the host country.
In compliance with the court ruling, the Kaduna State Government has filed at the Kaduna High Court terms for strict supervision of the medical leave, as follows:
1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall confirm the appointments of the defendants/applicants with the Medanta Hospital, India, and undertake all necessary diplomatic arrangements and protocols to ensure compliance with the conditions of the medical leave.
2. Each of the defendants/applicants shall undertake to return to Nigeria to continue their trial as soon as they are discharged from the hospital, and shall also be responsible for the cost of their travel, treatment and living expenses while on their medical leave.
3. Each of the defendants/applicants shall produce two prominent and reliable persons as sureties, one being a first class chief/emir of national repute and the other a prominent person within Kaduna State who shall undertake to produce the defendants whenever they are needed. The sureties must also produce evidence of landed property within Kaduna State.
4. The Federal Government of Nigeria shall obtain from the Government of India an irrevocable guarantee that it will not entertain any application by the defendants/applicants or any third party seeking asylum under any guise or conferring the status of political prisoners or any other status aside from being medical patients on the defendants/applicants and shall also restrain the defendants/applicants from any act inimical to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
5. Each of the defendants/applicants shall undertake in writing, endorsed by their Counsel, that while on medical treatment in India, they shall do nothing to jeopardize the ongoing trial, the peace and security of Nigeria and the laws of the Republic of India in whatever form.
6. Security agents of the Federal Government of Nigeria shall escort the defendants/applicants and remain with them throughout the duration of their treatment in India and thereafter shall return with them after their discharge from the hospital.
7. The Nigerian High Commission in India shall undertake prior vetting and grant consent before any visitor has access to the defendants/applicants while in the Republic of India.
As is readily evident from the above, many of these terms of supervision depend for their actualization on actions by the Federal Government of Nigeria which is the sovereign power vested with the constitutional responsibility for foreign affairs.
While the Kaduna State Government respects the court’s ruling on medical leave, it disagrees with the premises on which it is based. Therefore, an appeal will be lodged on the matter, but a stay of execution will not be sought as the state government believes that a person may choose to travel abroad for any medical condition at his own cost.
As stated earlier, El-Zakzaky and his wife are defendants in a criminal case. Given the pendency of this case, the proper thing is to await its conclusion. However, the Kaduna State Government notes that perceptions of this case are suffused in a veritable avalanche of deliberate falsehood, disinformation and revisionism, powered by vested interests.
Therefore, this statement is issued to set the records straight, as follows:
1. Between 12-14 December 2015, there were clashes in Zaria between the Nigerian Army and the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). The clashes began when IMN blocked a public highway and refused to lift the blockade to enable passage by the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff. The clashes resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of property.
2. Following the clashes, IMN leader Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah Ibrahim, were arrested by the Nigerian Army and passed to the custody of the federal authorities.
3. On 29th January 2016, the Kaduna State Government constituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the matter. The 13-member commission of inquiry was chaired by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba of the Court of Appeal.
4. Among other findings, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry assigned responsibility for the Zaria clashes to Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as leader of the IMN. The Judicial Commission of Inquiry noted that “members of the IMN owe absolute loyalty to Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. He therefore bears responsibility for all the acts of lawlessness committed by the organization and should therefore be held responsible, fully investigated and prosecuted”.
5. The Judicial Commission of Inquiry also recommended the proscription of the IMN, noting its disregard for the Constitution and the laws of the Nigerian state.
6. The Kaduna State Government accepted these findings of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry and commenced the processes for prosecuting Mr. El-Zakzaky.
7. In October 2016, the Kaduna State Government declared the IMN an unlawful society, drawing on powers vested by Section 45 (1) of the Constitution and Section 97A of the Penal Code (Cap 110, Laws of Kaduna State, 1991).
8. While in the custody of the Federal Government, Mr. El-Zakzaky’s counsels filed a case against the Federal Government for the enforcement of his fundamental rights at the Federal High Court.
9. Neither that court nor any other court has made any order against the Kaduna State Government for the release of Mr. El-Zakzaky on bail. After the conclusion of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry process, the Kaduna State Government requested the transfer of Mr. El-Zakzaky to the state for the legal processes to begin.
10. In 2018, the Federal Government eventually acceded to the Kaduna State Government’s request for the transfer of Mr. and Mrs. El-Zakzaky from its custody to facilitate their proper arraignment before the Kaduna State High Court.
11. On 19th April 2018, the Kaduna State Government filed an eight-count charge against Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, Mallama Zeenah Ibrahim, Yakubu Yahaya Katsina and Sanusi Abdulkadir Koki for the offenses of:
a. Criminal Conspiracy
b. Culpable Homicide punishable with death
c. Unlawful Assembly
d. Wrongful restraint
e. Disturbance of public peace
f. Voluntarily causing grievous hurt
g. Inciting disturbance
h. Breach of Public Peace
12. The eight-count charge in The State versus El-Zakzaky (KDH/KAD/60c/2018) were filed under Sections 59,47, 66, 77, 73, 222 and 78 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State.
13. On 2nd August 2018, the Kaduna High Court took the pleas of the first and second defendants, Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Mrs. Zeenah Ibrahim. Also, on that same day, the court heard the defendants’ application for bail which was refused in a ruling made on 4th October 2018.
14. The court ordered that the defendants be kept in prison custody and that the defendants be allowed access to their personal physicians alongside physicians of the State. However, at his request, Mr. Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife are being kept in SSS facilities which were deemed more comfortable than the Kaduna Prison.
15. The trial suffered initial delays because the third and fourth defendants/applicants remain at large. That was the case when the matter first came up in court on 15th May 2018. It was adjourned till 21st June 2018 because the charges had not been served on the third and fourth defendants. An accident involving the trial judge further delayed the hearing scheduled for 21st June 2018. Subsequently, the arraignment of the first and second defendants was done on 2nd August 2018.
16. The substantive charge was adjourned sine die with the agreement of all counsels representing the State and the defendants upon the assignment of the trial judge to duties at the Election Tribunal.
17. However, the Kaduna High Court heard Malam El-Zakzaky’s application for leave to seek medical attention abroad on Monday, 29th July 2019. At the hearing, counsel to the Kaduna State Government opposed the application for medical leave largely because it was based on medical reports not issued by a government medical facility. The court granted the application on Monday, 5th August 2019.
18. Counsels representing the defendants/applicants in the case have been appearing before the Kaduna High Court. It is baffling that the same counsels to the defendants, led by a senior advocate, Femi Falana, are in their public comments, giving the impression that there is no trial ongoing at the Kaduna High Court, which denied bail to Mr. El-Zakzaky and consequent to which Mr. Ibrahim El-Zakzaky remains in lawful custody.
19. It is the considered contention of the Kaduna State Government that decades of impunity emboldened the IMN to engage in various unlawful activities culminating in the tragic events of December 2015. In prosecuting the case, the state government is affirming simple canons of the rule of law, that no one is above its long arm and that all persons are equal in its eyes. Mob pressure, such as the carnage visited on the streets of Abuja to force Mr. El-Zakzaky’s release without due process, cannot be allowed to succeed.
20. Matters have been joined in court. The two defendants are represented by counsel of their choice and they have taken the pleas. It is left to the court to decide the case. The campaign of violence, disinformation and misinformation on this matter must now stop. Only a court of law can free Mr. El-Zakzaky, and the court before which he is standing trial is the High Court of Kaduna State.
21. It is ridiculous to feign respect for the rule of law while ignoring legal processes ongoing before a state High Court. Campaigns of calumny, abuse, disinformation and disrespect for law and order will not trump due process. Equality before the law obliges everyone to respect the trial process before a court, not to irresponsibly traduce it.
Signed
Samuel Aruwan
Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs

Many injured after engines of motorcycles are mistaken for gunshots at Times Square

Last weekend's shootings in the US left many conscious of a possible attack at any spot and this led to multiple injuries at New York's Times Square after the engines of some motorcycles were mistaken for gunshots.

NYPD’s Midtown North district tweeted that the sounds were from motorcycles as it confirmed that there was no active shooter after receiving several 911 calls around 9:45 p.m on Tuesday August 6. About 12-20 people were injured in the shooting scare and no fewer than six went to hospitals for minor issues, WNBC reported.

Quote:“Motorcycles backfiring while passing through sounded like gun shots," the NYPD said, adding that it received multiple 911 calls.
"... Please don’t panic. The Times Square area is very safe!"

The incident had people fleeing into restaurants and theaters. It was further learnt that the police are now using surveillance cameras to try to identify the motorcyclists who might be charged with reckless endangerment.

Quote:“In Times Square. There was a loud sound (later heard it was a motorcycle backfiring) and everyone panicked. Running en masse, men yelling ‘Get down!’ Separated from my brother, but now fine. Freaky experience,” one Twitter user wrote.

How Amnesty International Demanded Release Of Buhari, Tinubu, Keyamo Others
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-07-2019, 10:55 PM - No Replies

Quote:Eniola Akinkuotu , Abuja

Documents have surfaced on how global rights group , Amnesty International , wrote letters to military dictators and high-handed Presidents demanding the release of several persons who are now key members of today’ s government .

Some of the personalities who AI intervened on their behalf include : President Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress stalwart , Bola Tinubu ; a minister designate , Festus Keyamo ; and a former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba .

Others include : Buhari’s Political Adviser , Senator Babafemi Ojudu ; Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria , Bayo Onanuga ; and several others .

In its 1986 , 1987 and 1988 annual reports , AI lamented that Military President , Gen Ibrahim Babangida , had detained Buhari alongside his deputy , Tunde Idiagbon, without any charge following a bloodless coup on August 27 , 1985 .

In a letter dated July 21 , 1994 , and addressed to Abacha, AI declared Tinubu and five other senators as “ prisoners of conscience” having been detained by the military administration for several weeks .

In the letter, AI expressed concern at the “ continued remand in custody of Ameh Ebute , Chief Polycarp Nwite , Onyeka A . Okoroafor, Abu Ibrahim , the Reverend Dr Maconyemechi O. Nwulu and Bola Ahmed Tinubu , calling for their immediate and unconditional release on the grounds that they are prisoners of conscience, detained for their non -violent political activities and criticism of the government .”

The rights group called for a halt to the “ prosecution of all those, whether in detention or currently released on bail , who have been charged with treasonable felony or other political offences and who would become prisoners of conscience if convicted and sentenced to prison terms . ”

The charges against Tinubu and the five other senators were later withdrawn .

In the case of Keyamo , who was an activist and protégé of the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi ( SAN) , AI asked the then President , Olusegun Obasanjo to release him unconditionally .

Keyamo , the leader of Movement for the Actualisation of the Future Republic of the Niger Delta, was probably detained for his public call for a wider autonomy for the Niger Delta region in southern Nigeria .

This followed President Obasanjo ’s public explanation in late December 2002 , of why he refused to sign a bill that would have given Nigeria’ s coastal states a percentage of revenue from offshore oil .

AI noted that Keyamo was being held incommunicado in detention without charge at an unknown location and was denied adequate food, clothes , and medical assistance .

In a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sule Lamido ; Attorney -General of the federation , Kanu Agabi ( SAN ); and Inspector- General of Police dated January 28 , 2003 , the rights group said Keyamo must be released immediately .

In the letter, AI, “ asked the authorities why he ( Keyamo ) has been arrested and detained without charge ; called for Festus Keyamo ’s current location to be made public ; called for guarantees that he would not be tortured or ill -treated while in detention ; and that he be released unless he is promptly charged with a recognisable criminal offence .”

Incidentally, none of those who AI fought for have spoken up against the government amid several allegations of rights abuses by the current government .

AI’ s office in Colorado , Maitama , has been witnessing protests from pro-Buhari groups in the last five days .
The protesters have criticised AI for being too critical of the Buhari government , adding that the rights group should leave Nigeria if it cannot support the President .

Twelve Nigerians have been arrested at Weija in the Greater Accra Region for holding a 20-year-old woman hostage.

The suspects were arrested after the father of the victim lodged a complaint with the police that his daughter had gone missing for days. The suspects, according to reports, all live in the same apartment close to Weija STC.

Police investigators gave the names of the suspects as Ose Winner, Oladide Ola Promise, Algbe Joseph, Edogiawerie Aisosa, Osazee Benjamin, Elis Imasuen, Emmanuel Daniel, John Miracle, Emulankpa Godwin, Osaro Kelvin, Oso Kenny and Oghneyerhowa Nelson.

The victim, named withheld, said she was sexually molested by one of the suspect who through social media lured her to the location under the guise of dating her, where her movement was restricted thereafter.

Preliminary investigation reveals all the 12 suspects do not possess the requisite documents to be in the country and were also suspected to be engaged in cyber fraud. They are set to be arraigned before court on Tuesday August 6, 2019 while the Ghana Immigration Service has since been notified in order to repatriate them.

Man's tongue turned black and became so swollen it blocked his airway, making his heart stop twice (Graphic photos)

A man had to be admitted to a hospital after his tongue swelled up and turned black because of a blood clotting disorder.

The unnamed man's tongue swelled so much that it blocked his airways and when doctors tried to help him breathe his heart stopped twice.

The injury was caused by haemophilia, an illness which makes the body unable to clot blood on its own and triggers life-threatening bleeding.

He was first admitted to hospital because he was struggling to speak or swallow, and his wife had noticed darkness on his tongue, Daily Mail reports. Doctors treated him at Mie University Hospital in the Japanese city of Tsu, about 400km south of Tokyo.

"His tongue was extremely swollen, dark purple in color, and protruded from his mouth," the medics, led by Dr Yuki Kageyama, wrote in a case report.

Doctors gave him drugs to help the body clot and stop the bleeding itself but the man's tongue just got bigger and more bloody as time went on. He started struggling to breathe and was admitted to intensive care, where medics tried to put a tube down his windpipe to help him breathe. But while they were trying to do so the patient "rapidly developed an airway obstruction and cardiac arrest" his heart stopped.

Doctors did CPR for 10 minutes and managed to bring him back to life before doing emergency surgery to cut a hole in his neck for him to breathe through.

The following day, it took doctors "several hours" to try and stop the bleeding caused by the surgery and the man's heart stopped again when they did. This time it took nine minutes of CPR to bring him back round.

Three days later he he had another operation to install a more stable airway in his neck for him to breathe through, and this one was successful.

After the surgery

The man developed pneumonia after his cardiac arrest and had to spend 64 days in hospital. He was finally discharged and sent elsewhere for rehabilitation.

Simon Achuba To Be Impeached As Kogi Deputy Governor

Kogi State House of Assembly has begun the process for the impeachment of the state Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba.

Majority leader Abdullahi Bello (Ajaokuta, APC) read the impeachment notice before the house on Wednesday, saying it was signed by 21 out of the 25 lawmakers.

The legislators hinged the petition on three grounds of criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation and non-performance.

They also claimed that the allegations, actions and utterances of the deputy governor amounted to gross misconduct.

Achuba had accused the governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, of being after his life.

He alleged that Bello had sent gunmen to kill him, adding that the governor had withheld the payment of his allowances amounting to N800 million.

The majority leader cited Section 188 of 1999 Constitution and prayed the house to commence investigation towards the impeachment move for the deputy governor.

The speaker, Kolawole Matthew, agreed to the prayers in the petition and asked that the petition be served on Achuba for him to respond to within 14 days.

Found throughout most of Africa and Asia, the Global Green CBD inhabits quite a lot of areas, such as tropical forests, brush and scrublands, rocky hillsides and even the excessive, chilly Global Green CBD of the Himalayas. Snow Global Green CBDs are very playful, like to roll in the snow. White spots on the tip of the tail and again of the ears help Global Green CBDs locate and talk with one another in tall grass. Global Green CBDs are extra common in Eastern and Central Africa. In contrast to most cats, Global Green CBDs are strong swimmers and are one of the few cats that like water,

66 people weren’t killed in Kaduna, Governor El-Rufai is just playing politics with lives - Human rights lawyer, Chidi Odinkalu

Chidi Odinkalu, human rights lawyer, has described as false, the statement from the Kaduna state government that 66 people were killed in attacks on Kajuru local government area of the state.

Samuel Aruawan, spokesman of Nasir el-Rufai, had  said the killings reportedly took place in eight settlements across the local government area. El-Rufai also confirmed the incident saying, “report of the killing of about 66 Fulanis in Maro, Kajuru local government, is quite tragic. These deliberate killings are designed to attract reprisals and destabilise that local government during the election. But the security agencies are containing the situation and I’ll be also visiting to also calm down afraid nerves and some arrests have been made already.”

The governor’s comment, made on the eve of the rescheduled elections, was received with criticism, with many describing it as inciting.

Speaking during a programme on Channels Television, Odinkalu accused el-Rufai of lying about the number of casualties and the timing of the attacks. According to him, while killings were recorded in the Kajuru last week, the casualties were not more than 11. He said he contacted many sources in the state, including residents, traditional and religious rulers and nobody confirmed the incident resulting in 66 deaths.

Quote:“That story, if you noticed, that story was broken by the Kaduna state governor with his publicist, Muyiwa Adekeye standing by his shoulder. No police officer, no SSS officer, no security person in the vicinity and he was throwing out words that were calculated to be very incendiary on the eve of very difficult elections about a location that is very difficult and has had historical problems of violence across communities.
And he was dropping this bromide like he was on some substance, with all due respect. I spent all of last night from all the sources in Kajuru and nobody can verify or substantiate that there has been a killing of 66 people in Kajuru over the past few days” Odinkalu said.
The lawyer asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to pay close attention to the comments of politicians in the election period.  “And INEC has got to deal with this kind of reality. It is not just logistics. It is politicians with all manners of design and I think it is important as we deal with the story of this question of postponement, to begin to call out politicians to order,” he said.
Quote:“You cannot on the eve of a very difficult election, stand by yourself with your publicist, and be talking about the killing of 66 people of one ethnic group and be talking about it with a celebratory air, that is beyond irresponsible.
“And I think people across all political divide must call out the Kaduna state governor and any other governor in this country who tries this kind of thing, on the eve of this type of event in our country, must be called out.
“I am saying this with a resent of responsibility, all I spent my life doing in this election is dealing with violence and atrocities. And when I heard this story yesterday, as I said, I spend the entire night calling all the sources I know in Kajuru. I spent a lot of time working on southern Kaduna.
“There were some killings in Kajuru last week up until Saturday or Sunday. And the best numbers we can get, every life matters so I am not saying this carelessly, about 10, 11 people were reportedly killed in Kajuru. As a matter of fact, there are still victims from that killing at St Jerat Hospital. The governor indeed was at St Jerat hospital on Tuesday. When did this killings that he talked about happen?
“No bodies, no police officer, no cameras. Let him tell us where he got these bodies from because this is too serious for any governor to say and get away with at this election. We must never allow that story to get away. 66 Nigerians killed, that is 66 too many. If any Nigerian claims that 66 people were killed in Kajuru this week, including the governor of Kaduna, let us all go and verify. It is not true.”

Court halts Senate, House of Representatives from taking over Edo state House of Assembly

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today issued an order barring both the Senate and the House of Representatives from taking over the legislative duties of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Justice Taiwo gave the order at the resumed hearing in the case instituted by the Edo State Government to challenge the directive by the National Assembly to the Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, to issue a fresh proclamation of the state’s House of Assembly.

Recall that both chambers have threatened to take over the legislative duties and powers of the State House of Assembly if the state governor fails to make the fresh proclamation within three weeks.

The state government described the directive as unconstitutional and approached the court for an order dimissing the National Assemblies directive.

Delivering judgement in the suit filed by the Edo state government, Justice Taiwo ordered parties in the case to maintain status quo pending the determination of the case.

Revolution Now: Islamic group speaks on calls for change of Buhari Govt

Published on August 7, 2019 By Wale Odunsi

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has opposed calls for revolution in Nigeria and change of President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in a statement on Wednesday, said the proponents were hasty in assessing the current administration considering the number of years the opposition was in power.

Noting that MURIC had called for the release or arraignment of Omoyele Sowore, leader of Revolution Now movement, Akintola noted that the conveners have lost touch with reality.

“How do you judge an administration which is yet to take off in its second term? What are the criteria the #Revolutionnow group has used to arrive at its hardline position?, he quipped.

“This is an administration that was ambushed, strangulated and sarakitised from the first day of its inauguration in May 2015. Are they blind to history? Today was born from the wombs of yesterday.

‘Why can’t they take a glance at where this administration is coming from? Have they forgotten how the 8th National Assembly (NASS) held the Buhari administration by the jugular for four good years?

“So what has changed since then? How much time has Buhari spent in his second term? He has not even taken off. Wednesday 21st August has just been fixed for the swearing-in of ministers. Why won’t they allow this government to settle down? Who is afraid of Buhari? Whose cupboard is full of skeletons? Why are they in so much haste?

“Does it mean that both the leaders and supporters of #Revolutionnow were pleased with the sarakitisation of Buhari’s first term? Where really do they stand in the war against corruption? Where were they when the 8th Senate delayed budget for seven whole months?

“We put it to #Revolutionnow that it has misplaced its priorities and failed to identify the true enemies of Nigeria. #Revolutionnow should have organized its uprising against the 8th NASS. By the way, where were they during the general elections that brought Buhari to power? How did they fare? Is it proper to change by force what the ballots refused to grant?

“Sowore is a good material for future politicking but he has to redirect his energy towards reengineering Nigerian youth for service, patriotism and dignity, not towards removing a democratically elected government.

“We advise #Revolutionnow to dismantle, dissolve into a political party and wait for 2023. Even a coup will not pay the group. Coups are no longer fashionable. The Buhari regime is not a product of violent change. It evolved via due democratic process.

“Any other process is therefore unlawful, illegal, illegitimate and unconstitutional. In view of Buhari’s sterling qualities and his numerous fait accompli in spite of all odds, we affirm clearly, unambiguously and categorically that Mr. President has our vote of confidence."

• Aggrieved lawmakers demand better deals
• CSOs flay desperation for plum panels

Senate President Ahmad Lawan might not have entirely escaped the aftershocks of the red chamber’s appointment of chairmen of committees.
The phenomenon, fused with a potent ability to rock the tenures of Senate presidents, has bothered occupants of the legislative position from 1999 till date.
Unless the Yobe-born lawmaker manages the aftermath with deftness, he could have a hard time coming. Indeed, the survival of any Senate president hangs on his ability to manipulate the headship of committees.

Usually, the process is handled by a special body known as the Selection Committee, which consists of the Senate president, his deputy, the majority leader, minority leader and all other principal officers. If down the road anything goes wrong however, aggrieved lawmakers naturally go for the jugular of the Senate president.
Beyond the façade of legislative service to fatherland, the appointment of chairmen is ruled by two phrases: juicy committees and non-juicy committees.
A juicy committee is a legislative organ with supervisory powers over government agencies that control huge finances. Just as ministries are tagged Grade A, B, and C, committees likewise are labeled juicy, dry land or Siberia.
Juicy ministries have big budgets and agencies that generate a lot of revenue. Ministers in charge are often prefixed as ‘super’ and are the envy of their peers. Similarly, legislative committees overseeing such are regarded as highly favoured for obvious reasons.
For instance, the Senate committee on petroleum (upstream or downstream) might not be compared with its counterpart on culture and tourism. Again, the Senate committee on appropriation is considered more inviting than women affairs.
Saraki, the immediate past Senate president, passed the acid test when, within the first legislative year, he reconciled with all aggrieved lawmakers by reshuffling the leadership of the committees.
Senator Kabiru Marafa for instance was taken to the juicy petroleum resources (downstream) committee, while Senator Oluremi Tinubu was lifted from dry women affairs committee to environment.

The number of committees began with as little as 30 in 1999. Currently, it is 69! Thanks to the unending pressure to pacify unending chairmanship agitations.
The Senate in the United States, a world superpower, has 21 standing committees.
But aware that he must contain the simmering tension, Lawan has already begun promising upset senators that a review is in the horizon. How well he succeeds at this will be seen in the days to come.

There was an attempt to carry ranking senators along in the current placements announced by Lawan. Many in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), however, were left unhappy.
Forty-nine positions were allocated to APC senators. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got the remainder. Also, the northwest geopolitical zone had 16; southwest, 13; northeast, 11; north central, 10; south-south, 10; and southeast, 9.
The chairmanship of 16 out of the 23 standing committees considered juicy went to APC senators while their PDP counterparts got the remaining seven.
Already, some faceless senators under the aegis of ‘Ninth Senate Group For Good Governance’ have accused the leadership of the chamber of reneging on its campaign promises.

They regretted that despite their moral and financial support to ensure Lawan emerged as Senate president, the committees assigned to them fell short of their expectations.
A statement they issued reads in part: “We are some of the senators who contributed our quota in the build-up to your emergence as president of the Ninth Senate.
“You know very well that those who know you closely did everything possible to dissuade many of us. Many of your opponents raised a lot of questions, trying to convince us. We kept away all doubts and vigorously stood by you through thick and thin.

“You promised many of us good committees, knowing how hard we tried. Many of us tried to pin you down to specifics but you kept shifting the date of the announcement until the date of our departure for recess. When we come back from recess, this issue shall be raised and must be addressed.”
Some lawmakers actually confirmed that the development was tearing apart the camp of Lawan’s loyalists. According to one, “The issue is generating a serious crisis as some loyalists of the Senate president are accusing the leadership of favouring people from the north at the detriment of their southern counterparts.”

But Senate spokesman, Adedayo Adeyeye, dismissed insinuations about juicy committees. He told reporters : “You journalists talk about juicy and non-juicy committees. In any case, juicy or non-juicy, I believe that it is a call to duty for senators to serve their fatherland and serve the nation meritoriously. So, in whatever capacity anybody has been placed, he has been called upon to merely render service.”

“If you have 69 committees, there is no way about seven people who want to be chairman of a particular committee could get it. Only one person would be appointed. The Senate president has done everything possible to keep the Senate together and as such, there should not be any form of rancour on the issue either now or when we resume.”
The representatives of some civil society organisations meanwhile have criticised the lawmakers’ alleged desperation to head committees.

“The cause is essentially the greed with which they go to the National Assembly. Most of them are not there to serve the country. They are essentially there for their personal interest,” said Jude Ohanele, Programme Director of Development Dynamics.

Similarly, National Coordinator, Think Tank on Parliamentary Procedures and Enhancement, Baale Angus, noted: “The problem is multi-dimensional. It is unfortunate that most of the time, when the National Assembly tries to elect its leaders, there has been serious interference by the executive arm of government.

Local operators kick as Emirates’ daily flight hits four

[Image: Emirates-1.jpg]Emirates Airline. PHOTO: TWITTER

Local airline operators have faulted the Federal Government’s grant of additional frequency to Emirates Airlines to bring its daily flights out of Nigeria to four.
Emirates’ 28 weekly flights against Air Peace’s three skew the balance of trade in favour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and against Nigeria, especially as local airlines should be protected by their home government.
Though frequency giveaway allows more options to the flying public, it also emboldens stronger airlines like Emirates to out-muscle their local competitors with unfair pricing that has allegedly begun.

Nigeria’s sole flag carrier on the international front, Air Peace, about three weeks ago opened the Lagos-Dubai via Sharjah route. Emirates, apparently citing competition on the route it has dominated for years, bid for an additional frequency to bring daily flights out of Abuja to two, and equal its two daily flights out of Lagos.
The airline also halved its ticket fares to about N220,000 to match Air Peace’s N180, 000.
But stakeholders, under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), said it was unfair for Emirates to be allowed such increase barely two weeks after Air Peace’s launch to Sharjah.
Chairman of the AON, Capt. Nogie Meggison said the move effectively placed the indigenous carriers at “a massive disadvantage, including the Nigerian economy and the jobs of our youths and huge capital flight.”
AON earlier appealed to the government to stand tall to international aeropolitics to support Air Peace, otherwise, it will end up the same way of Bellview, Arik Air, and Med-View that lost out due to “wild and aggressive field of international aero politics.”
Meggison observed that besides Emirates’ four daily flights, its sister airline, Etihad, also operates daily flights out of Lagos.
“This translates to five flights daily and a total of 150 flights per month from UAE; as against a Nigerian Carrier that only just started operating three flights weekly. This is a colossal plundering of the Nigerian economy through the capital flight and a huge loss of Nigerian jobs.

“It is unfair to unleash a band of ravenous and voracious wolves against a harmless and privately-funded puppy that is still trying to find its feet and doing all it can to survive, create economic impact and jobs for our youths. It is the role of government, therefore, to protect our very own Nigerian carriers and preserve the Nigerian economy and the jobs of our unemployed youths.
“The additional double daily flights given to Emirates, a highly subsidised airline is not necessary at this time, as statistics show that half of the flights out of Abuja are half-empty, and the fact that the Emirati airlines already have an unfair trade advantage of 150 flights monthly out of Nigeria; as against 12 monthly flights for Nigerian airlines that should have been allowed to stabilise and grow its operations into the UAE to a level where the airline can compete favourably on the route,” Meggison said.
Three major carriers in the United States — United, American, and Delta — recently accused Emirati airlines of “undercutting U.S. carriers through below-market prices” on the Middle East routes.
In 2017, the economic policy of the Trump administration to protect the American economy, jobs and the airlines forced the Emirati airlines to reduce their flights by about 30 percent.
Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, said the move by the American Government was to protect the local industry and jobs, and Nigeria should take a cue.

Onyema said: “If I’m going to Dubai/Sharjah and you increase the frequencies of Emirates or any other airline on that route, believe me, that is a recipe for disaster for the Nigerian airline. And when that Nigerian airline leaves, these foreign carriers immediately go back to their old fares that they had crashed just to force us out.
“Nigerians should appreciate Air Peace on the Dubai route. Just within seven days, fares have crashed. This is money being saved for the Nigerian economy. Air Peace started with N180,000. A major airline doing direct flight has come down to N220,000 from the rooftop of about N500,000. The extra N300,000 is Nigeria’s money that would have left this country,” he said.

However, Emirates airline has explained that the additional frequency on Abuja route is temporary, to accommodate additional demand from Hajj pilgrims.
They said contrary to claims, the additional operation would be between July 27 and August 22, to support the Hajj journey to the Holy City of Mecca, after which normal schedule would resume.

The new Chairman, House of Reps’ Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, said findings had shown that most of the foreign carriers operating into the country have continued to exploit Nigerians with very exorbitant fares since the exit of Nigeria Airways.
Nnaji said in Lagos that the National Assembly would through legislation and every possible means seek to stem the tide.
“I have also discovered that all the foreign airlines maintain city offices where they sell tickets directly to passengers as against what is obtainable globally, thereby denying our local travel agents the opportunity of earning legitimate commissions that would have reduced capital flights and provided employment for our people,” Nnaji said.
He added that the regulatory authority, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), would be made to explain the reasons for this anomaly when the House returns from recess.

Buhari: How Adeboye, Bakare caused Nigeria’s problems – Pastor Giwa
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

The Senior Pastor of the Awaiting The Second Coming Of Jesus Christ Gospel Church, Pastor Adewale Giwa, has declared that Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly were some of the persons who caused problems befalling Nigeria.

He lamented that they were some of the respected clerics who backed President Muhammadu Buhari to emerge as the nation’s leader in 2015.

The cleric, who made this known in a statement on Saturday, entitled “Religious leaders, major obstacle to Nigeria’s progress”, said their silence on different challenges facing the country over the years had further worsened the situation at hands.

Giwa wondered why some religious leaders would leave their respective offices and pay a courtesy call on the President who majority people believed is not doing well.

“If revolution was to be effective in Nigeria, it would commence with some religious leaders who wine and dine with a failed President”, he said.

“There is no need to criticize someone who is doing well. The religious leaders who brought Buhari to power are reading Newspapers everyday, they see what is going on in the country and they have decided to keep mute.

“If all us could unite and ‘call a spade a spade’, maybe we would not have been where we are today.

“Let us face the reality; has the country turned around since President Muhammadu Buhari took over?

“Where is Pastor Enoch Adeboye who supported Buhari to get to power? Where is Pastor Tunde Bakare and where are other men of God who prophesied that Buhari was sent to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s problems?

“Why are they not speaking out? Some of them are now beginning to feel the heat. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them, says Ephesians 11:5.

“God will hold us accountable for anything we do on this earth. I will rather die in speaking the truth than hide behind my finger. It is time for everyone who loves Nigeria to speak up.

“It is our job to speak us against evil and injustice because if we don’t,who will? Some religious leaders have been compromised, they are wining and dining with the devil.

On the arrest of the publisher of the Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, Pastor Giwa, called on the Department of Security Services, DSS to release him with immediate effect.

He noted that those in power could not have allowed the revolution agitation to stand the test of time, he stressed, “We have people with no conscience in power and this has continued to affect the citizens of the country. The solution now is for everyone to pray for the spirit of courage to speak up.

“The body language of the present government is calling for destruction, disharmony and bloodshed. We need to pray for the mercy of God to also see us through.

“I call on the Department of State Services to release Sowore. President Buhari should not forget that Nigeria is bigger than him,” said Giwa.

The currency was N359 to dollar at the parallel market in Lagos, while it was exchanged at N445 and N397 to the pound sterling and Euro, respectively.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the naira closed at N359 to the dollar, while it was N445 and N397 to the pound sterling and Euro, respectively.

The naira had remained stable at the parallel market in Lagos due largely to the interventions of the CBN.

Meanwhile, turnover at the investors window at the end of July rose from 2.9 billion dollars in June to 4.12 billion dollars in July.

Atiku: Nigerians are victims of Buhari’s ‘grand cluelessness’ – I’ll keep talking
User Avatar Forum: News

[Image: 6BA01509-1A0D-4E0A-8438-458C0051CD33.jpeg]

Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, says he will keep speaking up for Nigerians who have become victims of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘grand cluelessness’.

In statement issued by Paul Ibe, his media aide, on Saturday, Abubakar said the Buhari administration had not responded to a report by the UNDP which stated that 98 million Nigerians were living in multidimensional poverty because he was yet to make a remark on it.

He said the administration was living in denial and relying on propaganda, and only becomes responsive when he comments on issues.

“On July 10, the United Nations reawakened Nigerians to the brutal reality of how poorly the Gen Muhammadu Buhari administration has managed the nation’s economy with a damning verdict that 98 million Nigerians live in multi-dimensional poverty,” he said.

“Like it is typical of General Buhari and his handlers, they didn’t make any comment about the scary statistics coming from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“Perhaps, one reason they didn’t want to comment on the report is because it is factual – Nigerians in the past four years indeed live in multi-dimensional poverty.”

“The other plausible reason they didn’t deem it fit to respond to the report is because Atiku Abubakar has yet to make a remark on the report. If the only reason why the Buhari administration will react to the affliction it has brought on Nigerians is for Atiku to call the nation’s attention to how bad things have gone in the country under the slumber of General Buhari, Atiku will more than always, be ready to stand and speak up for the millions of countrymen and women who have become victims of his (Buhari’s) misrule and grand cluelessness.”

Abubakar had called for an independent inquiry into the reported secret burial of soldiers who died in the Boko Haram war.

In response, the presidency accused of him of being desperate to be president through other means.

  Protecting CBN from Miyetti Allah
User Avatar Forum: Market Place

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) reaction to the Federal Government’s move to ban the importation of milk is curious and should not be allowed to go unchallenged. There appears to be more to the MACBAN’s strange response than meets the eye because the policy instrument is supposed to be primarily interpreted to boost local production of milk, which still consumes a large chunk of our scarce foreign exchange.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had announced it would restrict forex for the importation of milk to boost local production, a development that observers expected to excite cattle breeders in the country who are expected to benefit from intervention from the apex bank.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who disclosed the monetary policy instrument at the end of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in Abuja, noted that government was considering plans to effect the policy of restricting allocation of foreign exchange (FOREX) for milk importation into Nigeria. He, however, explained that the implementation of such a policy requires a robust strategy that addresses underlying issues.

But in a strange twist, the herdsmen’s association, in a statement by Baba Othman Ngelzarma, its national secretary, noted that the “National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) is an integrated plan that holistically solves the historic challenges that had deprived the pastoralists from producing high quantity and quality beef and dairy products demanded by the Nigerian market, ensuring that their goods do not end up being sold at sub-standard prices.

“NLTP modernises the industry through handholding the pastoralists and allowing ranches to develop organically with pastoralists as core participants in the livestock production chain which will ultimately impact wealth creation and knowledge transfer mechanisms. This we strongly believe is a safer, more stable sustainable pathway than one, which favours only one part of the livestock system.

“For MACBAN, partnership with domestic and foreign value chain actors is critical. Whether with fodder and pasture specialists at NAPRI, Zaria or dairy processors from Europe or cross-breeding specialists from Brazil or vaccine developers from NVRI, Vom in Jos, partnership across the livestock ecosystem is a requirement. Any plan that does not place such a step at its core is doomed to fail.

The MACBAN spokesperson specifically noted that the recent discussions between the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Development Finance Department and dairy processors are a non-starter.

“The challenge is not solved by lending money at 9% and requiring dairy companies to go to Kaduna, Niger, Plateau, Kano or Oyo to locate and develop at least 10,000 hectares of land within a grazing reserve commencing on or before September 2019…What is also most alarming with the CBN proposal is the invitation given to the dairy processors to come up with their own plan on how they will develop their dairy farms of at least 10,000 hectares in the grazing reserves proposed to them by CBN with cheap CBN loans at 9% interest….”

The cattle breeders averred that the CBN move could be disastrous on two counts: One, it disregards completely FGN approved NLTP that clearly outlines the necessary steps needed to be taken to transform the livestock subsector over 10 years in line with the desires and aspirations of all consulted stakeholders.

The association added too that the need for Federal Government’s regulations and incentives for the roles of all partners in the transformation processes to achieve the goals of peaceful coexistence between crop farmers and pastoralists and enhancement of the pastoral productivity through organic modernisation of the pastoral production base with capacity to retain their cultural livestock linkage in modernity and innovation for generations to come should not be discounted.

The breeders union, therefore, concluded that in view of their position, they advised the CBN to retrace its steps and take a productive role that does not undo the work done to date. As much as the infusion of capital into the livestock sub-sector is deeply appreciated and welcome, it must occur in the right strategic, stakeholder and cluster development context as provided in the NLTP framework.

It remains a curiosity why the cattle breeders association has felt that the CBN intervention strategy is antithetical to the NLTP’s as they have argued that the spirit of partnership and transparent dialogue with which the NLTP was developed be maintained and allowed to thrive. This is also where the Federal Government’s reputation and communications managers should not allow the Miyetti Allah’s boisterous managers to complicate matters for the CBN that has been widely applauded for its remarkable interventions in various relevant sectors to stabilise the economy. There have been questions about the extra-monetary policy of the CBN but ours not being an entrepreneurial nation, the apex bank’s ‘rescue operations’ have somewhat assisted remarkably.

In other words, this latest intervention in milk production and import hasn’t been markedly different. The ban on imported milk and other dairy products announced by the CBN is intended to develop domestic capacity in the provision of these food items. That cannot be controverted.

In announcing the ban, the CBN governor also conveyed the bank’s or government’s readiness to grant credit for the development of ranches to support local milk production. What seems to be throwing up questions about the action of the apex bank is its timing. It is coming at a time that the RUGA project debates are still very much alive in public discourse and the interpretation is that the CBN is being recruited by Buhari to push the RUGA agenda by another means. This emerging negative perception element is too sensitive to be allowed to settle in.

Also, the decision of the army to create ranches is being similarly interpreted. While it is true that CBN ought to have been sensitive to the national mood regarding the matter of cattle grazing at this time, its action should not be interpreted to mean that the bank by the new policy is trying to assist the Fulani to acquire land to rear cattle. Cattle ranching is not and cannot be an exclusive occupation of the Fulani.

In fact, Emefiele noted specifically that the CBN is ready to give loans to anybody who has a good proposal for cattle ranching. He clearly added that the loan would not be given to Fulani herdsmen alone. In other words, what the CBN is doing is an open invitation to all Nigerians for partnership in the cultivation of local capacity through cattle ranching for milk production. There have been historical facts that the old western and eastern regions developed cattle ranches that supported cattle rearing in the regions than when federalism had its significance – before 1966. That was the time Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State, which is still there, was developed – by the then eastern regional government.

That said, it must be noted that events in the country in the last four years or so have helped to put the Fulani race in a very bad light. Agreed, cattle rearing is a traditional occupation of the Fulani but it does not mean others cannot go into the business even at a more elevated level through modern ranching that even the developed economies in a global context have sustained.

Due to serial official failure and lethargy, the Fulani have become inseparably linked with killer herdsmen that have visited great pains on the nation.

Now nomadic cattle rearing, which has been part of the national economy since the advent of Nigeria has suddenly become synonymous with banditry, kidnapping, rape, murder and other forms of violent crimes. This is why the Fulani establishment must at this point rise in good conscience to its own defence and take steps to assure the rest of Nigerians. This is the path of truth that the Miyetti Allah leaders and representatives should be propagating instead of dabbling in curious politics that can destroy its already demonised image. Can they separate the survival of the National Livestock Transformation Project birthed through the National Economic Council (NEC) and developed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development from the policy instrument that the CBN announced on imported milk? Why would the cattle breeders be afraid of a possible ban on imported milk, which is supposed to enhance their operations? This is indeed strange. This is why the Federal Government that has complicated matters with the curious renaming of National Livestock Transformation Programme (NLTP) as Ruga Project, should develop a strategic communication strategy so that the nation can be carried along.

Never again should the Miyetti Allah chieftains be allowed to complicate sensitive national issues as they have threatened to do in this CBN intervention matter. Certainly, CBN is an important national institution that we should protect from the rampaging rascality of some misguided groups.

Rev Fr Offu’s Bank Account Emptied 25 Minutes After His Death
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:By Tony Adibe, Enugu

Less than 25 minutes after unknown gun men shot dead the Catholic Priest, Rev Fr. Paul Offu last Thursday, his bank account was emptied by a yet to be identified person who was said to have made frantic and frequent withdrawals until the last money was withdrawn, according to a reliable source working in an old generation bank (name withheld) where the late cleric operated an account.

The inside source informed Daily Trust that considering the time of Offu’s murder and when the withdrawal was made, “it makes one to wonder how fast the killers (assuming they actually made the withdrawal) were able to rush to the bank and withdrew all the cash,” asking rather angrily: “Who was, indeed, responsible for disclosing the pin number of the priest ATM?”

According to the source, who argued that, while she was not holding brief for those that killed the priest, “there was need for the security operatives to look inward and ascertain who actually did the withdrawals from the murdered priest bank account shortly after he was killed.”

She said that the inbuilt camera in the ATM would likely capture the face of the person apparently without the individual knowing it.

“It is not certain that the person or persons who made the quick withdrawal from Fr Offu’s bank account destroyed the camera before operating the ATM. So the police could exploit this angle and make sure they leave no stone unturned in their investigation,” she said.

Fr Offu was shot dead, while a commercial driver, Mr. Kenneth Igwe, who was said to have encountered the gunmen while in the operation, was kidnapped by the gun men that quickly disappeared into the bush. But Igwe’s decomposing corpse was later found in the bush by security forces on Monday.

Before his death, Fr Offu was the Parish priest of St James the Greater Parish, Ugbowka in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. But he hailed from Okpatu in Udi Local Government Area and was reportedly dragged out of his car and killed on Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

However, the security operatives have mobilized and begun a manhunt for the killers. The State police spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu said that the police would fish out all those who were involved the crime and make them face the law.

Sowore: 51 CSOs attack Buhari govt, say Nigeria shrinking civil space
[Image: sowore.jpg]

A coalition of 51 civil society organizations has condemned what it called the restriction of the civil space by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The condemnation came on the heels of the arrest and detention of Omoyele Sowore, the Convener of ‘Revolution Now’ movement, as well as the clampdown on the protesting members of the movement.

The coalition made up of 51 registered CSOs, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, expressed disappointment at the manner the federal government was handling dissenting voices, opposed to the governance style of Buhari-led administration.
The CSOs, therefore, called for the immediate release of Sowore and others being held over the protest.
In the statement dripping with dismay, the coalition said: “We wonder why a government which recently had its mandate renewed for another four years would not commit to expanding democratic space for debates and arguments particularly with its critics.”

“The coalition further picked holes in harassment of the media and CSOs, the ban on protests and also urged the federal government to be cautious “of arbitrary misuse of power against the citizens for a non-violent protest and demonstration to express their views.”.
The statement was signed the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC, Centre for Democracy and Development, CDD, Centre for Democratic Research and Training, CRDDERT and Civil Society Network Against Corruption, CSNAC.
Others included Human and Environmental Development Agenda, HEDA, Public Interest Lawyers League, PILL, Partners for West Africa – Nigeria, Centre for Information Technology and Development, CITAD, Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project, SERAP, Falana Falana Chambers and a host of others.

It appears that the “Acts of kindness Task” Biggie gave to the BBNaija housemates is causing a few issues in the house. The Merike ‘deliver’ (referring to Mercy and Ike’s relationship) is unstable after Mercy showed her own kindness to another housemate.

Recall, On Tuesday, August 6, Big Brother gave the housemates a Task to do an act of kindness to another person for 10 minutes. Mercy chose to hug Joe as her own.

In spite of the fact that she made a point to put separation among them and wore a sweater so when he embraced her, he wouldn’t contact her back. Shockingly, it didn’t go down well with lover boy, Ike who didn’t hesitate to show it on his face.

Ike wasn’t angry with Mercy, rather with Joe for staring at him suspiciously while the hug was going on. When the task was done, Mercy went to Ike to tell him that Joe was holding her tight and pressing my @$$$.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 7TH AUGUST.

AN ASSEMBLAGE OF THE GOD-KIND

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity… for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore (Psalm 133:1-3).

Whenever we come together for corporate worship in church, it’s not an ordinary gathering; it’s an assemblage of the God-kind; a real family gathering. It’s not a gathering of several individuals with different ideas, no! We’re united in spirit, of one mind in the presence of the Holy Ghost who Himself is God.

I don’t know what this means to you, but I think it’s the most beautiful gathering of all; better than any political rally, sports, entertainment or any other social event. In our theme scripture, David’s understanding and description of the blessedness of the gathering of God’s people is quite profound. He said therein, God commands His blessings, even life forevermore. Hallelujah!

How could anyone read that and miss a church service? That would be because they don’t understand the Body of Christ; they don’t understand the power released when we come together. Every time you come into church for worship, you’re in the place of blessings. Paul, by the Spirit, calls it the General Assembly and church of the “Firstborn” (Hebrews 12:23). This is far more sublime and prestigious than the United Nations General Assembly.

Cultivate the habit of going to church, irrespective of your tight schedule. Every church service is specially designed with you in mind. They’re special times for fellowship, learning, cleansing, edification and glorification. Hebrews 10:25 says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is….”

Be like David, who said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psalm 122:1). Always be excited to go to church, for that’s God’s place of appointment to bless you and touch your life in a special way.

PRAYER

Gracious Father, I thank you for the Church of Jesus Christ, the ground and pillar of truth. I pray for the Church around the world that there’s unity, stability, and growth, as we attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

7TH AUGUST.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Lord, I serve You in truth with all my heart, for You’ve been great in my life! I remain steadfast and unmovable. I am fervent in spirit, serving You with joy, and bringing glory to Your precious Name. Thank You for making me eternally triumphant.

Thank You for the extraordinary attributes You’ve put in me. As the salt of the earth, I preserve the lives of men and women through prayer and the ministry of the Word; and as the light of the world, I show them the way, by leadership and example. I show the light of the glorious Gospel everywhere I go, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Market leader shot dead by gunmen in Benue State shortly after he allegedly complained of harrasment and threats from unknown persons

Gunmen in the late hours of Monday killed the Chairman of Shade Owners Association, Zaki Biam Yam Market, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the residence of the deceased identified as Tavershima Achinge, and shot him dead.

According to Punch, a relation who did not want to be named said the deceased had just returned home after the day’s job before the gunmen arrived.
“It was not long he came back from the market that those gunmen invaded his house and shot him at close range. The sporadic gunshots scared away people within the neighborhood, this made it easy for the gunmen to escape. By the time, the dust settled , people ran to the scene to see what happens , it was the lifeless body of Achinge that they met in a pool of blood.

The remains of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of a private hospital in Zaki Biam.

Confirming the incident, the caretaker chairman of Ukum local government, Torchioka Ibenimo, called on security men to ensure that the perpetrators were apprehended.

Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command , DSP Catherine Anene, also confirmed the incident.

A friend of the deceased Denen Achussah, recalled how late Achinge once complained of harrasment, intimidation and threats by unknown persons. See his post below.

Quote:"Adieu Tavershima Achinge
I can't resign to the frustrating sigh of blaming God when those sons-of-a-bitch sniff life out of you. They will know no peace.
The last time I was in Zaki -Biam, you told me that you are no longer interested in the affairs of Zaki Biam Yam Market; that it was better to live a peaceful life with your family rather than continue to bear the harrasment, intimidation and threats.
I respected your view when you politely turned down my request for comments. I was on a return visit, two years after the 2017 attack on Zaki Biam Yam Market.
Yesterday, Monday, 5th August, 2019, I read with rude shock, while going through my Facebook page that you are felled by bullets of assasins; the bullets you were apparently scared of.
It did not occur to me that in less than a month's time (after my visit) you will be killed in such a barbaric manner.
What is your crime? The market? But you did let it go!
They've killed your body and not your spirit. Adieu!"
