Buhari is clamping down on critics of his policies or perceived marginalization - Femi Falana speaks on Sowore's arrest

Femi Falana has accused President Buhari of clamping down on individuals and organizations that are critical of his official policies or perceived marginalisation, in a statement he released in reaction to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services (DSS).

LIB reported that the former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) was arrested at his Ikeja home on Saturday August 3, over a 'Revolution' protest scheduled for today August 5.

Accusing the Police of capitalizing on the use of the word “revolution” to criminalise the protests, Femi Falana questioned why leaders of the APC were not charged for claiming to have carried out Nigeria’s democratic revolution which terminated the 16-year rule of the PDP in 2015.

Quote:The statement reads: “No doubt, the Nigeria Police Force has capitalized on the use of the word “revolution” to criminalise the protests. If revolution has become a criminal offence in Nigeria why were the leaders of the APC not charged for claiming to have carried out Nigeria’s democratic revolution which terminated the 16-year rule of the PDP in 2015?
“Why was Dr Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) not threatened with treason when he asked Nigerians to rise up for revolution via the 2019 general election?
“Did all Nigerian senators led by APC members not commit treason or terrorism when they spent one and a half hours on May 14, 2019 to debate Senator Chukwuka Utazi’s timely motion on “Bridging the gap between the haves and have-not to nip in the bud the seeds of a looming violent revolution?”
He noted that “it is worrisome that the Buhari administration has decided to extend the ambit of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act to cover individuals and organisations that are critical of official policies or perceived marginalisation within the federation.”

9 Banks Scale Cbn’s Dividend Hurdle, 4 Fail
User Avatar Forum: Market Place

DIVIDEND pay-out in banks rose 12.6 percent for their financial year ended December 2018 despite the dividend restriction policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. About nine banks scaled the CBN hurdle while four were caught napping. CBN Cadbury Nigeria shareholders approve N471m dividend(Opens in a new browser tab) Leading banks quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, paid N259.4 billion to their shareholders, as against N230.4 billion in the financial year 2017.

The five Tier-1 banks were responsible for the huge dividend pay-out, accounting for 87.4 percent of the total dividend declared by the 13 banks captured in the review period while the CBN’ dividend policy affected most of the Tier-2 banks. Furthermore, directors of the nine banks went home with N17.9 billion in the year 2018 as against N15.8 billion in 2017, representing a growth of 13.2 percent The CBN last year came up with a policy on dividend which had intended to discourage high dividend pay-outs by banks on the heels of worsening Non-Performing Loans, NPLs, which was eroding banks’ capital adequacy. The policy was meant to force the banks to plough back their profits to beef up their capital.

The CBN guideline stated: “In order to facilitate sufficient and adequate capital build up for banks in tandem with their risk appetite, the following directives will now apply: “Any Deposit Money Bank (DMB) or Discount House (DH) that does not meet the minimum capital adequacy ratio shall not be allowed to pay dividend; DMBs and DHs that have a Composite Risk Rating (CRR) of “High” or a NPL ratio of above 10 percent shall not be allowed to pay dividend; DMBs and DHs that meet the minimum capital adequacy ratio but have a CRR of “Above Average” or an NPL ratio of more than five percent but less than 10 percent shall have dividend payout ratio of not more than 30 percent; DMBs and DHs that have capital adequacy ratios of at least three percent above the minimum requirement, CRR of “Low” and NPL ratio of more than five percent but less than 10 percent, shall have dividend pay-out ratio of not more than 75 percent of profit after tax.

“There shall be no regulatory restriction on dividend pay-out for DMBs and DHs that meet the minimum capital adequacy ratio, have a CRR of “low” or “moderate” and an NPL ratio of not more than five percent. However, it is expected that the Board of such institutions will recommend payouts based on effective risk assessment and economic realities; No DMB or DH shall be allowed to pay dividend out of reserves.” Prior to this guideline, most banks adopted aggressive dividend policy, partly to shore up their share prices and also to satisfy top directors’ need for cash.

However, Financial Vanguard analysis on the dividend pay-outs in the financial year 2018 revealed that four banks were caught in the CBN net forcing their shareholders and directors to go home empty-handed. The banks are Union Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc and Jaiz Bank Plc. Meanwhile, during the seventh annual general meeting, AGM of Jaiz Bank in Abuja, the chairman, Jaiz Bank, Dr. Umaru Mutallab had said: “While the board had tried to recommend the payment of dividend for the 2018 financial period, the regulators felt otherwise.” Mutallab told the shareholders that the regulators of the bank were of the view that there was a need for Jaiz Bank to improve on some specific performance benchmarks.

He said some of the performance benchmarks included improvement in capital buffers and reduction in non-performing loans. The nine banks that met the CBN’s requirements for dividend pay-outs include Zenith Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa, UBA Plc, FBN Holdings Plc, Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, Access Bank Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, FCMB Group Plc and Wema Bank Plc. Tier-1 banks’ pay-outs A cursory review of Tier-1 banks dividend shows that Zenith Bank paid the highest dividend in absolute term recording N87.9 billion, up by 3.7 percent from N84.7 billion in 2017.

GTBank followed recording N80.8 billion, rising by 1.7 percent from N79.5 billion in 2017. UBA occupied the third position posting N29.9 billion, but which translated to highest rise in pay-out Year-on-Year, YoY, amongst the tier-1 banks as it represents 34.5 percent rise from N22.2 billion in 2017. Access Bank Plc recorded N18.8 billion, the same amount in 2017, while First Bank followed posting N9.3 billion representing four percent rise.

Tier-2 banks’ pay-outs Stanbic IBTC led the Tier-2 dividend pay-outs in absolute term with N25.5 billion, representing 131 percent rise from N11.03 billion in 2017. It was followed by Fidelity Bank paying N3.2 billion, the same amount in 2017. FCMB occupied the third position with N2.8 billion, representing an increase by 39.9 percent from N1.9 billion in 2017. Tier-1 Directors’ dividend The Tier-1 directors’ dividend stood at N17.8 billion in 2018 as against N15.749 billion in 2017.

The Tier-2 bank directors’ dividend accounted for 1.2 percent of the total bank directors’ dividend for the year under review. Leading the Tier-2 bank directors’ dividend chart is Stanbic IBTC recording N25.5 billion as against N11.03 billion in 2017. FCMB occupied second position in the Tier-2 bank directors chart in 2018 recording N0.058 billion dividend, representing a growth of 38.1 percent from N0.042 billion in 2017.

Wema Bank occupied the third position in the chart in 2018 recording N 0.052 billion dividend, the same in 2017. Stakeholders’ reactions Reacting to the dividend pay-outs, managing director, APT Securities and Funds Limited, Mallam Kasimu Kurfi, said: “The reason why banks increased their dividend for the year ended December 2018 is that most of the Tier-1 banks met the CBN’s requirements and the ones that mostly increased their dividend include Zenith Bank, UBA and Access Bank and they always account for the bulk dividend. “Another reason is that most of the Tier-1 banks’ stock prices declined and they hope that by increasing the dividend it might support their market prices which eventually did not happen on the stock exchange. “Also, the banks aside meeting CBN’s requirements, they considered it necessary to compensate the shareholders and the directors who have provided the capital.

Also Tier-2 banks like FCMB have increased their dividend “The reason why Tier-1 banks pay more dividend than Tier-2 banks is because Tier-1 banks met Composite Risk Rating, CRR of low, Minimum Capital Adequacy Ratio and the NPL ratio of 5 percent which allowed them to pay 75 percent of their profit while those that did not meet all are allowed to pay only 30 percent or non.

“These guidelines affect banks such as First Bank Holding, Sterling, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, among others. “Given the directives that banks should not be participating in buying Treasury Bills, TBs and giving more credits may affect their performance and thus they paid less dividend for the year ended December 2019.” Commenting also the spokesperson for Independent Shareholders Association of Nigeria, ISAN, Mr. Moses Igbrude, said: “The increase in dividend payment in the banking sector despite CBN’s restriction policy is because the banks outperformed the economy in the period under review.

“Also, the Tier-2 banks were mostly affected by the CBN’s policy because they have huge non performing loans as compared to the Tier-1 banks. The Tier-1 banks have huge shareholders funds when compared to the Tier -2 banks and don’t forget the reason why that policy was introduced is to protect the shareholder funds of these banks. The management of these banks should try their best to be skilful in giving out loans to their customers to avoid loans being bad.

” The Chairman, Progressive Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mr. Boniface Okezie said: “Almost all the Tier-1 banks made a good profit last year that informed the huge accelerations of dividend paid this year but theTier-2 banks did not do so because of a lot of provisions made on non performing loans portfolios in their books. But the Tier-1 banks have muzzles to do so notwithstanding the provisions they made from their books which can not affect them as such considering their strong financial balance sheets.

Dividend policy “Next year will be tougher for all of them going by the CBN’s pronouncement on banks recapitalization which is beckoning on the banks plus the full implementation of IFRS 9 Acts which is in full force.” The National Chairman, New Dimension Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Ajudua said: “CBN circular to banks on dividend payment serves as a guide with particular reference to implementation of IFRS 9 which dwelt on treatment and disclosure of loans & advances. So, most banks are guided to align their dividend policy in this regard. Despite this we are not surprise that dividend pay-outs in the year under consideration outweighs the proceeding year as a result of better performance.

“The Tier-2 banks are mostly affected by this directive because of low cash liquidity requirements, shareholders fund & non performing loans regulatory benchmark. For them to pay a better dividend is to improve on liquidity and cash reserve ratio, improve on non performing loans and address their asset quality. As shareholders we are very optimistic that going by half year report coming out and implementation of the budget, banks will declare a better dividend despite slow economic recovery.”

University Of Abuja Dean In Sex For Marks Scandal, Caught Pants Down
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-05-2019, 10:48 AM - No Replies

Quote:A dean of one of the science-based faculties of the University of Abuja is currently under investigation for soliciting sex to award marks to one of his female students, Daily Trust on Sunday has learnt.

The alarms went off on the senior university lecturer after he was caught in a sting operation at a hotel in Gwarimpa area of Abuja, where he had gone to have an affair with the student.

A credible source in the university told Daily Trust on Sunday that the student who was being pressed by the faculty dean for sexual relationship, had reported the matter to the university’s security unit as well as the police.

The dean would not allow the student pass a course he was taking unless she agreed to have sex with him, the alleged victim told police and the university’s security.
The source added that the security agents asked the lady to play along, which led to the professor booking a hotel room in the highbrow Gwarimpa quarters to sleep with the student.

“The dean was caught pants down in the hotel room trying to have sex with the student,” the source said.
Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that though the university community falls under the responsibility of Lugbe Police Station, the sting operation and the arrest was handled by the police station in Gwarimpa.

“He was taken to the police station that night and made to give a statement,” the source added.
The source said the university was keeping the scandal under wraps which was the reason it did not go public since. “Very few in the university know this has happened between the dean and his student and that is why other details of it are not available,” said the source.

It was gathered that the incident may have happened about four weeks ago when the students of the institution were taking first semester examinations for the 2018/2019 academic session.

Students resumed for the second semester last Monday after a two-week break that followed the exams.

The Chief Security Officer of the university, Ibrahim Abdullahi Buga, could not be reached as his phone was switched off when our reporter tried to reach him yesterday.

But a source in the security department confided in our reporter that the management of the university had set up a committee to investigate the alleged sexual assault on the student.

The acting Information Officer of the university, Hajiya Maryam Mohammed, while confirming the setting up of the committee said the staff in question had been queried.
“You know the man in question has been issued a query as a panel has been constituted to listen to him in order to give him a fair hearing. That’s where we are right now because we have to wait for the committee to do something about it. So I cannot tell you anything again until the committee finishes its work and as soon as there is anything, I will let you know,” she added.
She said the university’s new vice chancellor was someone with zero tolerance for nonsense.

Also commenting on the alleged act, the Federal Capital Territory police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, confirmed that the police had received a report of an alleged sexual assault from a female student of the institution. The commissioner said the FCT police were investigating the matter.

Buhari is 'on top' of Nigeria's security situation - Presidency

We've tackled security across Nigeria, the cries are political - Buratai

Security still tops my list of priorities – Buhari

No fewer than 282 persons were killed in violent attacks across Nigeria in July, as the nation continues to battle with security challenges.

At least 97 other persons were kidnapped for ransom across the country, according to an analysis by PREMIUM TIMES.

While the killings recorded in July were not up to 353 recorded in June, kidnapped victims rose from 60 reported in June to 97 in July.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s state, Katsina, had the highest casualties in July.
While many Nigerians continue to express dissatisfaction over the security challenges, the UK government warned its citizens against travelling to many parts of Nigeria.

This analysis reviews PREMIUM TIMES‘ weekly tracking of the reported violent attacks in Nigeria.
All of the reported attacks were either confirmed by security operatives or relations of the victims.

Katsina Leads

Katsina had the highest number of victims of violent crimes in July.
According to a PREMIUM TIMES analysis of reported attacks, at least 80 persons were killed in the state last month while 20 others were reported kidnapped.

Borno State was next with 75 deaths and six kidnapped victims while Benue recorded 30 deaths and a kidnap case.

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had 15 deaths and four kidnapped victims. In Kaduna, five persons were killed while two others were kidnapped. Also, in Lagos, five persons were killed and 10 others kidnapped.

Ekiti, Oyo, Kebbi, Ogun, and Enugu all witnessed the death of one victim each. Ogun State had eight kidnapped victims while Kebbi had one kidnap case.

In Cross River, two persons were killed while one person was kidnapped. Edo State witnessed nine deaths and three kidnap cases.

Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Zamfara also recorded two deaths in each state. Two were kidnapped in Adamawa while one each was recorded in Zamfara and Akwa Ibom states.

Five people died in Anambra State, six in Rivers, three in Plateau, four in Ondo and six in Bayelsa State.

Niger State had 19 kidnapped victims, Kwara State had four, Bayelsa had three and two others in Kogi State.

Government Action
Based on the complaints of Nigerians about the security situation, political and security leaders held crucial meetings on the matter.
President Muhammadu Buhari met with traditional leaders from the South-west during which he outlined some steps his administration was putting in place to tackle the security challenges.

He listed the steps to include the implementation of community policing and the deployment of drones.
Also in July, the Inspector-General of Police met with top police chiefs in Abuja to discuss ways of addressing the security challenges.

Call for Protests
The security situation is one of the basis for which some Nigerians called for a protest. The protest was expected to hold in 21 cities, from Monday.

On Saturday, the lead campaigner of the demonstration, Omoyele Sowore, was arrested by the Nigerian secret police, SSS, in an attempt to frustrate the planned ‘revolution’.

Mr Sowore’s arrest has been condemned by local and international organisations. Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and senior lawyer, Femi Falana, amongst other social commentators have demanded the release of the activist.

MTN Nigeria invests N2tr as market value closes at N2.6tr

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has invested more than N2 trillion in its business operations over the past 18 years. The market value of MTN Nigeria closed at the weekend at N2.585 trillion.

MTN Nigeria, in a regulatory filing at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) at the weekend, indicated that it has invested more than N2 trillion since incorporation in 2001.

MTN Nigeria reiterated its commitments to the Nigerian economy, noting that it had paid more than N1.7 trillion in taxes, levies and other regulatory fees in its nearly two decades of existence.

The market value of MTN Nigeria dropped by 1.59 per cent to close weekend at N2.585 trillion. The share price decline came on the heels of what the telecommunications company described as “technical disagreement” with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) over the tax treatment of the N330 billion fine imposed on the company for failing to deactivate more than five million unregistered SIM cards. MTN Nigeria had completed the payment of the N330 billion fine in May 2019 but the tax treatment remains a subject of judicial review at the Tax Tribunal. MTN Nigeria believes the N330b fine should be treated as part of operating cost and not subjected to any other tax but FIRS holds that the fine should be subjected to tax.

MTN Nigeria has remained Nigeria’s second largest quoted company since listing on the NSE in May 2019. MTN Nigeria last month earmarked N60 billion as interim cash dividend to shareholders as it released its first earnings report as a quoted company.

The board of the telco indicated shareholders will receive a dividend per share of N2.95 for the first half ended June 30, 2019. This however represented a drop of 17.83 per cent from N3.59 per share paid for the first half of 2018.

Key extracts of the six-month report for the period ended June 30, 2019 showed that MTN Nigeria’s profit before tax rose by 30.9 per cent to N141.8 billion in first half 2019 as against N108.35 billion recorded in comparable period of 2018. Profit after tax grew by 34.8 per cent from N73.4 billion to N98.93 billion. Total turnover grew by 12.12 per cent to N566.95 billion as against N505.67 billion. Operating profit had risen by 39.49 per cent from N136.50 billion to N190.4 billion. Earnings per share rose by 34.8 per cent to N4.86 compared with N3.61.

The report showed that the telco’s mobile subscribers increased by 3.3 million within the first six months of this year to 61.5 million while service revenue increased by 12.2 per cent. Voice revenue increased by 11.4 per cent, data revenue rose by 31.7 per cent while fintech revenue increased by 21.2 per cent. However, digital revenue dropped by 64.5 per cent. The company’s earnings before interest, tax depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 40 per cent to N304.9 billion while EBITDA margin improved by 10.7 percentage points to 53.8 per cent.

Nigeria is MTN’s largest market, accounting for one-third of the South African Group’s business. The telco last week announced that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted its subsidiary, Yello Digital Financial Services Limited (YDFS), full Super Agent Licence. The licence will enable MTN Nigeria to convert its existing airtime agents and recruit other small businesses to distribute financial services.

The telco stated that the Super Agent Licence will enable it to pursue its fintech strategy, as part of efforts to deepen financial inclusion in Nigeria.

Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Ferdi Moolman described the first half performance as a solid performance as the company continued to invest to improve network quality and expand 4G coverage.

He noted that recent work on revamping data prices and accelerating 4G network has put the company in a strong competitive position to offer more value to customers and provide new impetus for overall corporate growth.

He said the listing of the company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in May 2019 demonstrated the company’s commitment to the Nigerian market while providing opportunity to domestic investors to participate in and benefit from the company’s growth.

“Our overriding priority for the rest of the year is to focus on our BRIGHT strategy to build a sustainable business and create value for customers. We will continue to progress in the second half of the year making improvements to our network experience, subscriber growth and enhance operational efficiency. We expect lower data pricing and our acceleration of the 4G network expansion to bolster the acquisition of customers and data traffic volumes in the second half,” Moolman said

In a statement released by the company, Unilever Nigeria assured shareholders of its efforts to ensure a sustained and steady growth in the company’s operations engineered to achieve better returns on their investments.

Ellah Lakes, one of Nigeria’s foremost agriculture businesses with specialty in fish farming, recently acquired Telluria in order to diversify its product offerings in the agribusiness sector. Ellah Lakes was incorporated on July 2, 1980 and was listed on the NSE on January 14, 1993.

Ellah Lakes stated that the primary objective of the acquisition was to strengthen its balance sheet, restore customer confidence, provide access to new markets, improve operations and create organisational efficiencies that will drive profitability and increase shareholders’ value.

According to the company, the board of directors and management consider this business combination to be in its best interest as the transaction will help to revitalise management and create access to diversified expertise and financial strength.

The company added that the acquisition would also help to improve administrative and operational efficiencies as well as strengthen its market position by increasing access to new products and markets.

Enang: N2.2bn already budgeted for Ruga programme

Ita Enang, aide of President Muhammadu Buhari on national assembly matters, says N2.2 billion has already been earmarked in the 2019 budget for the implementation of Ruga programme.

The federal government had announced a suspension of the programme for its lack of consistency with the approved national livestock transformation plan.

But speaking with students of the law school in Abuja from Akwa Ibom, Enang explained that Ruga is not a derivative of Hausa or Fulfude, but an acronym for rural grazing area (RUGA) which was initiated in 1956 during the colonial era, and that it is not intended to Islamise or colonise anybody.

Enang cited the 2019 federal budget, volume 1 under the ministry of agricultural and rural development item number ERGP 5208 where the sum of N2.258 billion was provided for the grazing programme.

He said members of the national assembly members were not against the programme because they aware of it and had approved funds for its implementation.

He said besides funds provided for the programme, the sum of N300 million was also budgeted for water sanitation; N400 million for development of sweet potatoes and N350 million for ginger farming.

Enang said the objective of the programme is to promote cattle breeding and meat production.

He also said there was another sum approved by the national economic council for states that would make land available.

”The idea of Ruga graduated in 1978 into the Land Use Act which states that a portion of land has to be reserved for grazing to avoid the destruction of farm produce by cattle,” he said.

”Over time cattle roamed and destroyed farms hence the introduction of the policy to address the issue.’’

He also said every year there have been monetary allocations for the continuous funding of grazing areas.

He added that the programme was a response to the herder-farmer crisis in the middle-belt and in some states in northeast and northwest.

FLASHBACK: In 2011, General Buhari called for a revolution

[Image: 2BBDEE1A-53A5-477D-B053-A24B879008B5.jpeg]

In 2011, General Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), called for a revolution in Nigeria — albeit through the ballot.

Via a statement by Yinka Odumakin, his spokesman at the time who has now turned to one of his fiercest critics, Buhari asked Nigerians to make exceptional sacrifices to assert their collective will in the country.

“The Egyptian pro-democracy campaigners defied all odds to achieve their set goal of terminating the 30-year old grip on power by Mubarak. Their tenacity has again confirmed the truism that no force on earth can stop a people determined,” he said.

This was not the first time the president called for mass action — he did the same in 2003, after losing the presidential election to incumbent Olusegun Obasanjo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In June 2003, supporters of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Buhari, began a mass protest against the outcome of the April 19, 2003 presidential election in Abuja.

The protesters were reported to have massed at the Court of Appeal, venue of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to witness the proceeding.

They would later spill over to the streets where they chanted anti-government slogans against the Olusegun Obasanjo government.

A REPEAT IN 2011?

In the same statement calling for a revolution in 2011, Buhari commended the Egyptian military for refusing to attack “the forces of change”.

“The military in Egypt showed exemplary conduct with the way they refused to be used to attack the forces of change,” Buhari was quoted to have said.

“They showed the whole world that there is a clear difference between the state and those who temporarily occupy political offices for a fixed tenure. This is a lesson for our security agents who have been used to subvert the will of the people at elections in recent past.

“The time has come for our own security forces to demonstrate similar valour by putting national interest above that of individuals when there is a clash between the two.

“Unlike the Egyptians who went through self-denial for 18 unbroken days to achieve their aspiration for leadership change, Nigerians just have to take their voter cards, vote on each election day and ensure that their votes count and are properly counted.

“It is time to demonstrate people’s power to free our country from those who have held it hostage for the last 12 years and are threatening to keep it so for 60 years.”

BUHARI COMMENDS EGYPT’S REVOLUTIONARIES

The CPC flagbearer commended the revolutionaries in Egypt, asking Nigerians to emulate them and support themselves regardless of religious divides.

“More importantly Nigerians have to learn from the way faiths integrated to achieve national aspiration. Christians formed rings round Muslims as they observed their Jumat prayers during the demonstrations,” Buhari said.

“For us as a people, we need to also move from balance of hate to balance of faith as the Egyptians practically demonstrated on the field of battle for change.

“Rather than allow ourselves to be divided by our faiths, we must emphasise what binds us together and areas where the shoe pinches us collectively as people with common humanity. With all sense of modesty, this is part of what the Buhari-Bakare candidacy represents.”

BUHARI CALLED FOR ELECTORAL REVOLUTION?

Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for planning civil disobedience — once commended by Buhari.

The police has described the planned civil disobedience as treason and terrorism. In Buhari’s defence, his supporters claim that Buhari only called for electoral revolution.

He asked Nigerians to “draw the right lessons from the 18-day revolution which saw Hosni Mubarak quitting office after 30 years; and do the needful to effect a regime change in Nigeria at the April polls”.

Since winning elections in 2015, Buhari has asked Nigerians to stop addressing him as a general but simply as president — with his handlers stating he has become a reformed democrat.

Bala says the suspect is the leader a notorious armed robbery gang responsible for robbery attacks within Iba,  Okokomaiko,  Ojo and Ajangbadi using Okada motorcycles.

According to the police spokesperson, Rasaq and his gang members operate mostly in restaurants, bars and ware shops. Upon interrogation, Rasaq said his cult group mostly use guns and axes in killing their victims. He confessed to have participated in the robbery operation of a sporting bet shop at IBA on June 11th alongside three other gang members where they dispossessed their handsets and money at gun point.

The CCTV footage played to him buttressed his statement as he confirmed that he was the one in the video holding a locally made shot gun. He equally confirmed that his gang members were killed by SARS operatives during a shoot out during another robbery operation at IBA.

The state Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu has ordered SARS to take over the investigation and prosecution of the suspect.

President Buhari to Sowore- 'Elections, not revolution, the days of coups and revolutions are over'

President Buhari has asked Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore and others planning to a stage a ''revolution march'' in Abuja and other parts of the nation today Monday, August 5th, to shelve their plans as an election is more appropriate for a change of government and not a ''revolution'' as they have proposed.

A statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said President Buhari respects and upholds the right of every Nigerian to peaceful protest and civil campaign but stressed that there is a difference between peaceful call to protest and incitement for a revolution.

The statement added that the ballot box is the only legitimate route for a decent change of government as the days of coups and revolution are over.

Quote:''The organisation championing this planned action is not fronted by any serious public faces. We call on the sponsors and organisers to have the decency to come forward and make their identity known – out of respect to all Nigerians - so that Nigerians can be fully aware in whose name this “revolution” is being proposed and who the beneficiaries may be.
Less than six months ago, Nigeria held simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. Both contests were won resoundingly by President Muhammadu Buhari and his All-Progressives Congress party. The campaign was observed, and results were confirmed by international election monitoring groups and observers. The result was even contested by the losing presidential candidate and his party in Court.
The ballot box is the only constitutional means of changing government and a president in Nigeria. The days of coups and revolutions are over.
Those making the “revolution’’ call hide behind the veil of social media modernity. But without revealing the identity of their sponsors this shadowy campaign is no better, and no more democratic, than the days of old'' the statement

President Buhari in the statement called on all those who seek to use and hide behind everyday citizens to attain power through undemocratic and violent means, which has been alluded, to come out clearly and be identified. They should lead their march in person. Only then will they begin to have the right to call themselves leaders before the people of Nigeria.

The Inspector General of Police of Police, Adamu Mohammed, in a statement released on Saturday August 3rd, says anyone that participates in the ''revolution march'' and is arrested will be treated as someone that has committed a treasonable felony.

'Buhari's government is allergic to criticism and plurality' - Mike Ozekhome reacts to Sowore's arrest

Mike Ozekhome accused the Buhari-led government of not being tolerant to criticism while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

The Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) spoke on the arrest of the former Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), and he wondered how 'dancing on the street saying we don’t want bad governance can amount to treason'.

Quote:He said: “Dancing on the street saying we don’t want bad governance how does that amount to treason, unreasonable felony?
“This government is allergic to plurality of voices, this government is allergic to criticism, this government is allergic to opinions. This government should know that Nigeria is a country with many colours.
“You cannot sample opinions. We cannot all sleep on the same bed. This government should learn to be tolerant.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 5TH AUGUST.

YOU OWN THE WORLD

And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).

Romans 8:16-17 lets us know that as God’s children, we’re heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. Read our opening scripture again; it says, “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” You couldn’t read this and not shout for joy, for it means you own this world.

God gave the whole world to Abraham and his seed. That seed is Christ; and if you belong to Christ, you’re Abraham’s seed and therefore an heir according to the promise.

Now you can better understand why the Bible says, “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth” (Ephesians 4:28). How could you steal when the whole world belongs to you? Don’t be among those who are fighting over lands and estates; you own this world! And the proof that you do, is the Word of God.

1 Corinthians 3:21-22 says, “…For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours.” Have this consciousness. Every so often, affirm with confidence, “I own this world; all things are mine!” There’s a legal document to that effect—God’s Word. Therefore, it makes no difference if anyone challenges you or sneers at you; you still own this world.

You actually dwell in the realm of superabundance. You have an inheritance, bequeathed to you by the One who said, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine…” (Haggai 2:8). “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10).

All the wealth in this world: the precious stones, minerals, oil and everything that men believe they own, actually belong to the Lord, with whom you’re a joint heir. Your wealth, therefore, is limitless, inestimable, and unquantifiable. Declare every day that you’re rich and blessed beyond measure. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Dear heavenly Father, what a blessing it is to be a joint-heir with Christ! The world belongs to me. I don’t lack anything, because you’re my Shepherd. My wealth is limitless, inestimable, and unquantifiable; my prosperity is of the Spirit; therefore, it’s unending. Blessed be God!

#TALKINGSESSION

5TH AUGUST.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank You for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit who grants me spiritual insight, and sets me on the right course in life. I walk in righteousness and dominion, having insight into mysteries and secrets of Your Kingdom; and I live above the distracting influences of the world, because I live in Your Word. Daily, I walk in the fullness of God’s blessings; I excel and make progress on every side. I thank You for Your love, which is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit.

I extend this undiluted love to everyone around me, showing sincere concern about their challenges, and expressing true joy and happiness for their successes. Envy, jealousy, and pride have no place in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

BEREA https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Damarious-Randall-Jersey , Ohio (AP) — The Browns believe they finally have the pieces. All that's missing is someone to keep them together.A day after Cleveland ended a promising turnaround season following a winless 2017, general manager John Dorsey said he will interview interim coach Gregg Williams and offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens in his search for the Browns' ninth full-time coach since 1999.Dorsey's pursuit will start internally and quickly expand. "Why not go and look at everybody?" Dorsey said Monday. For once, the Browns can be picky. Their coaching vacancy is more attractive than it's been in the past. With cornerstone players like quarterback Baker Mayfield, Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Jarvis Landry in addition to highly touted rookies Nick Chubb and Denzel Ward, an abundance of salary-cap space, 11 draft picks in 2019 and deeply committed owners, Cleveland is a coveted job.The Browns have gone from appalling to appealing."There is a bright future with this organization," Dorsey said. "Hopefully, they can see what we see here."Dorsey isn't disclosing which candidates he'll interview, but the team has requested permission to speak with Minnesota offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, New Orleans tight ends coach Dan Campbell, New England linebackers coach Brian Flores and two Indianapolis assistants in offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus Darren Fells Jersey , according to multiple reports.Former Packers coach Mike McCarthy is also expected to draw interest from the Browns. He and Dorsey worked together for seven years in Green Bay."I have a lot of respect for Mike McCarthy and for what he's done," Dorsey said.Miami's firing of Adam Gase after three seasons could push him onto Dorsey's radar. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has pursued Gase in the past as well as Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.Dorsey has his list — and a checklist."A guy who can instill leadership into these young men," he said. "A guy who is a collaborative thinker. A guy who is a continuous learner. A guy who is consistent on a day-in and day-out basis and who those players can look up to and go, ‘You know what? I will follow that guy anywhere.'"Dorsey promised to provide updates once interviews are completed.Williams is up first. He'll meet Tuesday with Dorsey, who is impressed with the job the 60-year-old did in leading the Browns to a 5-3 record after replacing Hue Jackson in late October. The club's fiery defensive coordinator the past two seasons, Williams demanded accountability while keeping the Browns focused and fighting."He's kind of got these guys believing," Dorsey said. "He's brought them in together as one. He's got them playing hard, that's all you can ask for."During his interviews, Dorsey said he wants to know how Williams — and others — see the Browns long-term."I want to see his overarching vision and plan for this organization moving forward," he said. "I want to hear his thoughts on the team moving forward, but I also want to be able to explore multiple options out there in the National Football League and just see who fits."Beyond his accomplishments over the past two months, Williams has head coaching experience — and some baggage. He was Buffalo's coach from 2001-03 T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , but he may be best remembered for his involvement in the New Orleans' "Bountygate" scandal. The NFL suspended Williams for the 2012 season.Dorsey wants a "man of character" to be Cleveland's next coach, and feels Williams has served any warranted punishment for previous sins."I think he's paid his penalty for that," Dorsey said.Kitchens emerged as an improbable head coaching candidate after being promoted from running backs coach to coordinator when Todd Haley was fired the same day as Jackson. The affable Kitchens built a strong rapport with Mayfield, who set the NFL rookie record with 27 touchdown passes — 19 in the last eight games — and had Cleveland's offense playing at a high level.Even if he doesn't get the head-coaching gig, Kitchens, 44, could remain as coordinator."He's very relatable," said guard Joel Bitonio. "We talk about Baker being a guy that everybody in the locker room relates to. Freddie's kind of that guy, too. He's been around the block even though he's not too old and he's a fun personality to be around. I think if he was put in that position (as head coach) the players would rally around him."The Browns could simply leave things as they are and bring back Williams and Kitchens in the same roles. However, center JC Tretter believes Dorsey and his staff won't be swayed by the team's second-half surge."You have to kind of step back, and I think that's what the guys upstairs are going to do," Tretter said. "They're going to look for the best thing for the next five https://www.brownsfanshop.com , 10 years."NOTES: DT Larry Ogunjobi revealed he played the final few games with a torn left biceps. He's not expected to need surgery. … Mayfield was not available for comment. However, he did leave a signed jersey on the chair of left tackle Greg Robinson, who started the last eight games and revived his career in Cleveland. CLEVELAND (AP) — Gregg Williams showed the Browns what he could do as their coach for a half-season.On Tuesday, he shared his plans for a full one — and maybe more.Williams, who led Cleveland to a 5-3 record as an interim coach, became the first candidate to interview with general manager John Dorsey, who is looking for a "man of character" to lead one of the NFL's rising teams. Williams had an impressive run after he replaced a fired Hue Jackson on Oct. 29. The Browns remained focused and played as well as they have in several years under the 60-year-old Williams, who has served for the past two seasons as the team's defensive coordinator.Dorsey said Monday he was interested in hearing Williams' long-term vision with the Browns. Williams didn't publicly campaign for the job during the closing weeks of the season, but several players said they would be fine if he returned."He had a clear message," left guard Joel Bitonio said as the Browns cleared out their lockers following the biggest turnaround season in club history. "He was concise, clear message, but we were all on the same page. We knew what he wanted Browns Customized Color Rush Jerseys , we knew what we were going to get from him and that's all you can really ask for in a coach."Williams took over from Jackson, finally dismissed after winning just three of 40 games in two-plus seasons.Even if he doesn't get hired by the Browns, Williams could draw interest by one of the other teams seeking a coach. Williams coached in Buffalo from 2001-03, going 17-31 in three seasons. He won a Super Bowl as a defensive coordinator in New Orleans.Dorsey is casting a wide net as the Browns look for their ninth coach since 1999.He intends to interview offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens for the head-coaching position. Kitchens helped develop quarterback Baker Mayfield, who set a league rookie record with 27 touchdown passes — 19 in the final nine games.Dorsey has also asked for permission to interview New Orleans assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Minnesota offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, New England linebackers coach Brian Flores, Indianapolis offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni and Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. It's also probable that Dorsey will meet with former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy. The pair spent seven years together with the Packers.Dorsey said he is committed to a "thorough" and "deliberate" search. One coach to cross off Dorsey's list is Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley. He has agreed to a contract extension with the school, ending speculation he might rejoin Mayfield in the pros.

the Green Bay Packers had handed Mike McCarthy when the question had already started being asked.“What qualities does Aaron Rodgers want in the new head coach?”If Packers president Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst are asking themselves that same question as they begin their search for the team’s 14th head coach https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Geroni...son-Jersey , they’re approaching this whole process the wrong way.The confidence of Packers fans was dwindling before the firing of Mike McCarthy, according to our FanPulse results. Click here to sign up, Packers fans. Yes, how the next head coach fits with Rodgers is an important factor but it’s not about what the two-time NFL MVP wants. It has to be about what the quarterback needs that should be driving Murphy and Gutekunst’s quest. The saying is that “players play and coaches coach.” While that isn’t always the case and may not be what the situation in Green Bay calls for considering the window of Rodgers’ prime is closing with the passing of each season, the Packers need to be wary of giving their franchise signal caller too much pull in the coaching department. How many of us get to pick our own boss? Very few, if any. If Rodgers is given considerable input into the hiring process, he very well could settle on someone who he really likes. That said, sometimes the person who we like the most isn’t the one who’s the best for us. It’s like having that teacher you couldn’t stand initially but then at the end of the year you realize how good they were for you. That’s what Rodgers needs right now more than anything.Rodgers doesn’t need a friend in his next head coach. He needs, well, a coach.Rodgers is on the record saying he "desperately wants to be coached" and now we will see if the quarterback really meant that.He very well could want someone who continued to call plays the way McCarthy did but just with different play designs, which was just one flaw that led to the coach’s dismissal. Would this type of coach help fix Rodgers’ suddenly flawed footwork or teach him not to hold the ball so long? It’s doubtful.Instead what Rodgers needs is someone who will take the quarterback back to basics. He doesn’t need his fundamentals fully rebuilt, he just needs to refocus them. Rodgers says he wants to be coached hard? A coach forcing a two-time MVP to work in footwork drills will be some tough coaching indeed. Rodgers may also want someone who will continue to allow him to improvise at will Oren Burks Jersey , which is part of the magic that has defined his career up until this point. Before 2018 (or maybe even as far back as 2015), when plays would breakdown there was no more gifted magician than Rodgers who could somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat that was on fire and had a hole in it.What he really needs in this case however is a coach who will actually put him on a metaphorical leash. Rodgers must be forced to operate within the structure of the offense, something McCarthy was either unwilling or unable to do. Rodgers can still improvise but only when needed. The new coach must rewire the quarterback’s brain to take the easy throw rather than consistently look for the big play.Perhaps what Rodgers needs more than anything is some tough love. Even in the lost season of 2018, he was still making throws that are utterly insane which is why so many think his struggles this season are mostly mental. Throw in some Cutler-like body language and something clearly is/was eating at Rodgers’ psyche.Maybe getting rid of McCarthy and bringing in a new head coach will be enough to fix that. We won’t know the answer to that until September. There was enough tension between Rodgers and McCarthy that the relationship deteriorated into a battle of egos according to Sports Illustrated so the next coach will have to find a way to be a partner to Rodgers while still maintaining a proper chain of command. If the Packers play their cards right, this next coach will be final head coach Rodgers plays under in his career. That individual will have the job of extracting every ounce of talent Rodgers has left while also preparing the quarterback and team for his inevitable physical decline and eventual retirement. So which candidates would be up for this kind of task? Josh McDaniels should come to the forefront. He's managed an aging Tom Brady for years and if Rodgers wants to follow in the Patriots star's footsteps and play into his forties, McDaniels could be the guy. He's also handled an occasionally over emotional Brady with aplomb.Could a college coach command similar treatment? It's a tougher sell but playing in an offense like Lincoln Riley's or even Kliff Kingsbury's could be enough to snap Rodgers back into shape fundamental-wise. Regardless of the person ultimatelyhired, could history be repeating itself and the next Packers head coach will again be responsible for transitioning the team from a generational quarterback to a young heir apparent? It’s possible but Rodgers is going to have accept and get through to his occasionally stubborn mind that he’s going to have to step out of his comfort zone a bit and listen to some things he may not want to hear but are what he needs to hear. The sooner the Packers get Rodgers back on track the sooner they can return to the league’s elite. If that happens, then this likely will be the last January without Packers playoff football for at least the next several years. The 2018 regular season will conclude in Music City on Sunday night, where the Colts and Titans will play for a wild-card playoff berth. Or maybe more. The winner between these 9-6 teams makes the playoffs. Should Houston (10-5) fall at home to Jacksonville (5-10), the Indianapolis-Tennessee victor earns the AFC South title. That’s why two of the NFL’s more interesting but less glamorous teams were flexed to prime time. But it’s an intriguing matchup featuring two rookie head coaches, Mike Vrabel for Tennessee, Frank Reich for Indianapolis Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , who know something about getting to and succeeding in the playoffs from their playing careers.Unfortunately for them, neither of their teams has the pedigree that the Patriots would show when Vrabel was a linebacker for them, or the Bills in the 1990s when Reich was a quarterback.Still, any game in which the winner gets into the postseason is worthy of the spotlight. Oh, and get this: Should Baltimore and Pittsburgh win and the Colts, No. 10 in the AP Pro32, and the No. 14 Titans tie, the Steelers grab the final AFC wild card. Why? Don’t ask. With some uncertainty surrounding Marcus Mariota and his stinger — there is no betting line on the game because of it — plus the fact Andrew Luck is 10-0 vs. the Titans …COLTS, 24-16KNOCKOUT POOL: Survived with the Titans, let’s see if Pro Picks can finish it off with a win by PHILADELPHIA. The Colts enter the day with four total picks, three coming in the second round. There has been heavy chatter about pick 34, which some speculate as the possible target for quarterback Drew Lock. General Manager Chris Ballard hinted yesterday that the team is willing to consider moving back again, if the right offer comes his way.How long will Colts fans have to wait to add the teams newest member? It’s getting harder to gain an edge in daily fantasy football with more research tools and advanced statistics.Similar research processes lead many daily players to the same plays each given week.Last week, DailyRoto’s Colin Drew won more than $250,000 using a lineup optimizer to identify pivots — key spots to use players who won’t be widely owned in large tournaments. Pivoting away from popular players and toward alternatives in a similar price range lets fantasy owners differentiate their lineups, distinctions that become important when trying to break away from the pack in large tournament fields.Drew’s highest scoring lineup featured Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers at just 3 percent ownership, stacked with Packers wideouts Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. This trio was a profitable pivot from the more popular stacks in the Steelers-Falcons game.In Week 6, one of the league’s top tight ends and a certain defense are being priced reasonably across daily fantasy platforms and will likely prove to be popular. If fantasy owners dig a bit deeper, they can find alternatives that are also enticing.PIVOT: ERIC EBRON TO CAMERON BRATEThus far, the Colts tight end Ebron leads all tight ends with 12 red zone targets and has scored more DraftKings fantasy points than any player at the position over the last three weeks https://www.coltsfanshop.com , since teammate Jack Doyle went down. During that span, Ebron has garnered the third-highest target share of any TE and the second most targets overall. This week, he faces a Jets defense that ranks 20th against the TE according to Football Outsiders’ defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) metric, although they have only allowed 33.4 yards per game to the position.Due to Ebron’s heavy usage, especially down by the goal line, he will inevitably be popular this week. There’s a strong case for using Tampa Bay’s Cameron Brate instead.Brate is cheaper across the industry and will be squaring off against a Falcons team that has been playing in shootouts — nearly 60 total points have been scored on average in Atlanta’s games. Atlanta has a high-powered offense and its already mediocre defense lost safety Keanu Neal and linebacker Deion Jones for the season. The Bucaneers have already switched to Jameis Winston at quarterback, meaning brighter days should be ahead for Brate even before factoring in the injury to O.J. Howard. According to Rotoviz, Brate has averaged 5.21 targets per game, 42.3 yards per game, 3.4 receptions per game, 0.5 touchdowns per game and 10.7 point-per-reception fantasy points per game in games where Winston has thrown at least 15 passes. Brate saw less usage in the five games where Winston did not meet that threshold, due to being inactive or getting hurt.Even with Howard on the team, Brate ranked 17th among TEs in red zone target share and 13th at targets at the position last year. With Howard out of the picture Indianapolis Colts Customized Jerseys , Brate can reasonably be projected for a similar market share to Ebron — and Winston has shown an affinity for him. The matchup is nowhere near as favorable on paper, as the Falcons rank fifth in DVOA versus the position, but they do not have a single linebacker who grades inside the Top 50 at the position in coverage, per Pro Football Focus. The combination of cheaper price and increased opportunity trumps the supposedly inferior matchup.PIVOT: TEXANS DEFENSE TO BILLS DEFENSEThe public is undoubtedly going to have interest in targeting a defense against the lowly Bills offense that has averaged fewer yards per game than any team other than the Cardinals. Through five games, the Bills have turned the ball over eight times, and the thought of J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney getting after Josh Allen is tough to ignore. Allen has been sacked more than any other QB in the league and his 60.4 QB rating rates worst of all the 35 qualified signal-callers.Even so, defense is a tough position to spend up on in daily fantasy because that leads to skimping on offensive players who possess more upside. The difference between the Texans and the Bills is the equivalent of the pricing difference between Jarvis Landry and Julio Jones or even the difference between Nyheim Hines and T.J. Yeldon this week on DraftKings. There is no need to miss out on a true WR1 or a workhorse back because of a defense when the Bills legitimately find themselves in an ideal spot to succeed, too.Houston’s offensive line has allowed a 7.5 percent pressure rate, the fifth highest in the league, and the Bills convert pressures into sacks at a league-average 12 percent rate. However, the last time they faced a bottom-tier offensive line, they sacked Kirk Cousins four times and forced him to fumble twice.Deshaun Watson is battling a chest injury and a total has not yet been released for the game likely due to the uncertainty around his status. Obviously, his absence would enhance the matchup Indianapolis Colts T-Shirts , but even if he were to play, the Bills have yet to allow 300 yards passing in a game and they have played Philip Rivers, Cousins and Rodgers. Since Week 3, Buffalo has allowed exactly one passing TD versus Cousins, Rodgers and Marcus Mariota and they have induced eight turnovers over that time frame. PFF grades the Texans offensive line as the sixth worst run-blocking unit and the Bills defensive line as the ninth best pass-rushing unit. The Texans have passed the ball on about 60 percent of their plays in two of the last three games, and Lamar Miller has been brutal (10th worst Pro Football Focus grade of any back with at least 50 rushing attempts), so there will be plenty of drop-backs for the Bills to get after the QB.If needing salary relief, or just simply looking to be contrarian, look no further than a Bills defense that is greatly underappreciated due to the poor public perception of the team.

However, as the league moved to expand the use of instant replay back at the annual league meeting in March, with the spring league meeting starting today in Key Biscayne, Florida, the topic is back in the news. Over the past couple of months there has certainly been pushback and debate regarding the proposed expansion of replay to include pass interference, one person of note has a very different proposal. Specifically, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told Peter King that he’d like to see the league eliminate, or at least reduce, the use of instant replay. As noted in the tweet, King queried 25 people involved in the NFL in different ways, including coaches like Carroll, former front office executives like Amy Trask of the Oakland Raiders and Ron Wolf of the Green Bay Packers and others. Some wanted the number of penalties reduced, some wanted rosters expanded and others wanted players to be allowed to use marijuana for medicinal purposes. On the flip side of the argument Nazair Jones Color Rush Jersey , Sal Paolantonio of ESPN wanted to do the exact opposite. Rather than eliminate instant replay, Paolantonio suggests capitalizing on the replay stoppage to further engage the audience rather than force them to endure a stoppage of indeterminate length. Which of the proposed changes from the article do you feel would best benefit the league? Or which would you have the most interest in seeing? LONDON (AP) — Lethargic losses to start the season were enough to believe the Seattle Seahawks might not compete in the NFC West, especially after they failed to reach the playoffs last season. But after a 27-3 dismantling of the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, quarterback Russell Wilson believes the Seahawks are back on track.“We’re fired up about what we can do and where we’re going,” Wilson said after throwing three touchdown passes. “It is one game. One game doesn’t matter. You look at the journey. You look ahead. On a tough, tough challenge, coming all the way to London, I thought our coaches and our organization prepared us in the best way possible to be ready to roll.”Only 11 percent of teams that started the season 0-2 have made the playoffs since the NFL adopted the current divisional format in 2002. The Seahawks had not missed the playoffs with Wilson since drafting him in 2012, and they had not opened with consecutive losses under his watch, either. The Los Angeles Rams again appear the class of the division, and the Seahawks believe they took enough lessons from their 33-31 home defeat on Oct. 7 to prepare for a challenge. And, after evening their record at 3-3 on Sunday, they are ready to return from their bye week with success in sight.“Our goal was to get back to .500 before the bye week and we accomplished that, so we’ve got a bye week coming up, a good time to rest up, and we’ve got to come back and get ready for the next stretch,” wide receiver Jaron Brown said. Here are other things we leaned following Seattle’s victory over Oakland:CARR INSURANCERaiders quarterback Derek Carr was sacked six times by the Seahawks and injured his left arm when being tackled by Jarran Reed with 8:52 remaining, though coach Jon Gruden said Carr would have been able to return to the game had Seattle not run down the clock. That doesn’t change the fact that the Raiders have significant questions to address with regards to their offensive line 12th Fan Color Rush Jersey , especially with left guard Kelechi Osemele inactive with a knee injury and his replacement, Jon Feliciano, unable to return after injuring his ribs in the second quarter.“We’re going to have to do the best we can to find five men that can collectively pass protect much better, and that’s what we will do,” Gruden said. The Raiders (3-3) will also have to confront doubts about their special teams, too, after rookie kicker Matt McCrane missed a field goal for the fourth time in the last five games in the second quarter and rookie punter Johnny Townsend averaged 30.7 yards on his three punts, including one that traveled 27 yards and another that went only 28 yards.A LASTING LEGACYSeahawks strong safety Bradley McDougald, who was responsible for the helmet-to-helmet hit that gave Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper a concussion in the second quarter, said he wants his secondary to live up to the “Legion of Boom” days under Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas.“The standard’s been set,” McDougald said. “The best thing about it is, we’ve been there with those guys. We’re not a new group of guys who just heard about these guys before we got here and we’re trying to live up to a hype that we’ve never seen. No. We were there with these same guys last year. We played underneath these guys. We watched how they prepared. We watched how seriously they took the game and brought their passion to the field and we’re just trying to replicate that.”ONE FOR THE FUTUREDaryl Worley and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie were the Raiders’ starting cornerbacks after Rashaan Melvin and Gareon Conley held that responsibility the first five games.Gruden was particularly impressed with Worley, who notably allowed a 42-yard reception to Doug Baldwin in the third quarter before intercepting Wilson just shy of the goal line on the next play.“Worley is a good player,” Gruden said. “Worley is going to be a starter here. He’s a guy that’s really established himself as a true corner for the Raiders.”QUOTABLEReed on the Seahawks’ defense repeatedly sacking Carr: “It’s like blood in the water. It’s like a shark. If you’re smelling blood, you’ve got to go get it. We’re just hungry, man.”

  • Nigerian lady shares CCTV footages of her househelp assaulting her 2-year-old son and giving him faeces to eat

A Nigerian lady Uchechukwu Ogugua, got quite thankful as she shared CCTV footages of her househelp Agatha, assaulting her 2-year-old son left in her care.

According to the lady, she thought her son's teacher was inflicting the injuries on him but the CCTV footage uncovered who was behind the act. Accusing the 14-year-old househelp identified as Agatha Joshua of feeding her son with faeces, flogging him mercilessly and also sleeping with the driver and security man, the lady stated that she never maltreated or flogged her to get such in return.

She wrote;

Quote:It is with deep gratitude to God and heart-felt thanksgiving, that I type this message.
For saving my son Prince Osinachi from death and for saving my family from sorrow, be thou exalted O Lord...if i had one million tongues, it still won't be enough to praise you...Men may not understand how far you've brought us, showing us excess love on a daily, you have been so merciful even when we do not deserve it
And then it happened that i employed a witch from the pit of hell as a maid. Her name is Agatha Joshua and she hails from Gboko, Benue state, Tiv by tribe.
This is a girl i took as my own first daughter, put her in a standard school, bought her everything she wanted, not just needed.I also took her for HIV and hepatis test immediately she came and then gave her the three doses of hepatitis vaccine when she tested negative. I equally do not flog her at all,i only knock her or draw her ear to correct her whenever she makes mistakes, and i don't do this often because she was very obedient and smart.
Oh! How i trusted Agatha... If anyone told me she could do this to my son, i will insult the hell out of him/her. She was an excellent and super smart pretender, scheming her way into gaining our trust. I trusted her with my son, the keys to my bulk food and provisions store room and even my personal room to clean atimes.
It happened on 3rd of July that i decided to bathe my son by myself, because Agatha has been d one bathing him since i was 6months pregnant and wworking in a pharmacy where we run evening and weekend shifts. On that fateful day, she rushed to me in d bathroom showing me cane marks on Prince's back, tummy and face, saying its d class teacher that flogged him, i kept asking who is the heartless person that will flog a 2yr+ old like that
In less than one hour, my son vomitted more than 7 times,i knew something was seriously wrong because my son never vomits, even all through his teething and vaccinations,he hardly runs temperature or falls ill,he is extremely strong and healthy. Infact since i left the hospital after his delivery,i never stepped the hospital until 1y+.
Immediately,my son ,Agatha and i marched to the school and i confronted d teacher and headteacher, they said they do not beat kids in their school and that they equally saw the marks and intended to ask me who slapped him. When i called my mom, she insisted i check my house staff especially Agatha, but due to the trust and love i had for Agatha, i called her bluff and told her i highly doubt Agatha could do that. Nonetheless, i immediately included it in my to-do list to review my cctv camera fixed in the house as i was super busy, preparing for my child dedication. From there we proceeded to the lab for general tests and i ended up giving him antibiotics for typhoid.
...the postponing lingered until Sunday, 28th July when God touched me admist very tight schedules to finally check the recordings before it wipes from the memory...lo and behold ,the first thing i saw was Agatha flogging and beating my son mercilessly as shown in the videos..i couldn't believe my eyes i started weeping profusely, drew the attention of my hubby and called my parents and siblings immediately. She even used ice cold water on several occasions to bathe him and wash his poo...no wonder i keep treating cough and cattarh every two weeks,i even started complaining that drugs are fake.
Do you know the cause of his strange vomiting that morning?? It was because Agatha gave him his excreta to eat on the previous day when they returned from school, after flogging him mercilessly for pooing on his clothes. Jesus wept!!!
I always used to praise Agatha and tell my colleagues at work and family that i am lucky to have her, and always thanked her uncle, the security man at my work place who brought her to me,not knowing she was a green snake,i never suspected a thing. Infact when my mom and sisters visited for omugwo and child dedication, each one had a complain about her stealing or being disrespectful but i waved all aside because of blind trust

Oh! who says my God is not pretty Amazing. What would i have done if God didn't use me to install CCTV in my house?? How would I have ever discovered this great evil happening under my nose? This same CCTV installation, we kept postponing and even almost ignored because of d cost but for my sweet Jesus who made me insist on it. I always watch such videos on social media but i always thought it so vague and distant from me,i never knew it was happening right under my roof. The good thing was that i never let my staff know i had cctv in the house, because i wanted to first observe and see their actions and inactions while i was away at work before telling them. Agatha denied everything until she was shown d videos, she was shocked to her marrows, that is to tell you that d heart of man is desperately wicked... She thought no one was watching or would ever discover but she forgot God is ominipotent and ominiscient
This is how many kids all over the world are suffering under d care of trusted maids and servants, with no one to save them.
I also saw her on many occasions eating my baby's food while he cried and begged her,no wonder she got so fat within her 11months of stay with me while my son became more lean sadly.
In addition, she has been sleeping with our gateman and driver under my roof on so many occasions chaiiii 14yr old Agatha, so so corrupt and useless...i never even knew she was sexually active right from Gboko even though she came to my house with no breasts. She even used airfreshner container to sex herself . she also uses my teddy bears to practice sex as you can see in one of the videos(i have discarded them incase she invoked spirits into them).
I decided to share this with families and young people, especially mothers and intending mothers because of three major reasons
1. To testify and glorify the name of the Lord and put the devil to shame, he has failed and will continue to fail IJN!
2. To encourage all families who employ maids or nannies or any form of domestic staff to save up and fix cctv cameras in their homes ,because were it not for this camera,i will still live with Agatha for years and she may end up killing and corrupting my children...i really thank God he is still a kid that will outgrow the torments if not it would have left an indelible memory in his mind and life, a trauma. Mommies, pend those human hair or fashion needs and save up to buy a cctv camera,it will help you beyond your imagination. Also lets not underestimate the power of prayers, moms always pray for your kids, It has great impact on their lives. You may install cctv but if God is not on your side, the enemy may still have their way. I strongly believe its God's love that prompted me to even decide to bath him that day since six months that she has been d one bathing him, and that was the trigger for the reviewing of d cctv.
3. To advise women to learn from my testimony, and stop neglecting their kids. I have equally learnt my lessons greatly never to leave my son in total care of anyone,no matter how busy, because if anything more weighty had happened,i am not sure i will even be here typing this. God just used this as an eye opener to us. And so i deemed it wise and necessary to share. Also, on the matter of protecting the girl child, please and please mothers, know thee that once you give birth to a bby girl, your responsibilities have doubled,we have the full responsibilities as parents especially mothers to protect our girls from pedophiles and psycopaths, they are everywhere targetting innocent ,naive and gullible girls. I know boys are not excluded but its worst for the girl child. Please learn from this. You can't believe Agatha confessed that she was defiled by her brother ,who kept using her and threatening her too and even made her used to it to the extent of using airfreshner container when the urge comes and there is no available man around chaiii
How i pity women who leave their kids especially girls in the care of maids or nannies without any form of monitoring in the name of career, travel or busy schedules...no matter our tighr schedules or the quantity of house helps we have, let us try to still pay serious attention to our jewels because they can't be bought with money or gold.
Please friends...join me in thunderous worship and praise to sweet Master Jesus
God Bless us as we ammend and apply these.

'Revolution Now' Organizers Release 'Rules Of Engagement' For Protest
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

POLITICSNIGERIA.COM

The #RevolutionNow Organizers have released the 'Rules of Engagement' for Tomorrow's massive protest all over Nigeria.Below is a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA by the group;

"The Coalition of Revolution (CORE) seizes this opportunity to call on mass of Nigerians who have shown tired of the suffering in the land and the oppressive system that keeps enriching the rich at the expense of the poor.""It is no gainsaying that the Country has been plunged into crises by bereft leadership who have turned the Country into a ‘business centre’."

"CORE is reiterating all the demands at this hour for proper clarification as usual.""The Police may have to explain to the world how the following listed demands would lead to a violent protest and treasonable felony like the Police PRO, DCP Frank Mba stated in the Force Press Release issued yesterday."

"We understand that this is the crude old trick of the State to create fear in the minds of oppressed to delay their day of freedom.""But it is more glaring this time around that Nigerians have taken their destinies in their hands and are saying Enough is Enough to hardship, insecurity, insurgency, incessant killings, epileptic power supply, disrespect of court orders, blatant abuse of power and office, embarrassing corruption."

DEMANDS
1. An economy that works for all and not a handful of individuals, banks and foreign multi-nationals.

2. An effective and democratic end to insecurity and insurgency.

3. An end to systemic corruption and for total system change in the interest of all.

4. The immediate implementation of the 30,000 naira minimum wage at all levels in the public service as agreed with the trade unions.

5. Education as an enforceable right and not a priviledge.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

1. We eschew all forms of violence. No protester should throw any object as little as stones or attack any security officials. We are aware of their intent to provoke the mass unduly by using undue tactics and sponsored agents, so as to give the protest a bad name.We encourage all Nigerians to remain calm as we are ready to fight these injustices to a logical conclusion.

2. If you would come with water, make sure you come with water ONLY in plastic bottles. We say NO to glass wares.

3. Irrespective of the colour orange recognized as the insignia of the protest, everyone is free to come dressed in ANY colour.

You said Jonathan was weak, but you are weaker – Buhari’s former lawyer, Mike Ahamba slams him

Chief Mike Ahamba, Muhammadu Buhari’s lawyer before he won the 2015 Presidential election has called out the President over the insecurity menace rocking the country.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) insinuated that President Buhari has lost his grip on leading the nation while recalling how his former client campaigned with claims of ex President Goodluck Jonathan being being ‘weak’ in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency.

Quote:“I want to say this with all sincerity that the country has been overtaken by the state of insecurity,” he told Sun.
“There is no safety anywhere and I believe that nobody can count himself as safe unless those who may have state apparatus with which they are protecting themselves.
“Ordinary citizens are no longer safe. When you cannot drive safely from Abuja to Kaduna, you can’t drive safely from Port Harcourt to Warri; you can’t drive safely from Enugu to Makurdi.
“Where do you go? The situation is very alarming and anybody who says that he is not alarmed by what is happening should tell the nation the reason for that, and that he can’t be affected by what is happening.
“The insecurity situation is so bad that nobody knows the next victim. It is very unfortunate and the Federal Government should do something to arrest the situation before it is too late.
“One of the major campaign promises of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 was to handle security having accused ex-President Goodluck Jonathan of being ‘weak’ in tackling the Boko Haram menace. Four years after, don’t you think that Buhari has lost grip of the situation?” he added.

81 herdsmen convicted and 3,000 cows have been arrested under Benue State's grazing law – Governor Samuel Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue on Saturday, August 3rd in New York revealed that no fewer than 81 herdsmen had been convicted and 3,000 cows arrested under the state’s anti-open grazing law.

Ortom, who gave the update in a keynote address at the 2019 annual convention of the Idoma Association USA, said implementation of the law had brought relative peace to the state.

“We are implementing our law, and there is relative peace. As at today, we have convicted 81 herdsmen. Some have paid fines; others are still in prison as I talk to you. We have gone a step further. Anywhere we see cattle doing open grazing, we go after them. So far, we have arrested over 3,000 cattle. The law stipulates that within seven days, owners of such cattle should pay fines and reclaim them. We have been collecting fines from them,’’ he said.

While insisting that ranching remained the best solution to the farmers/herders conflict, the governor challenged anyone with a better alternative to bring it forward. He said all parts of the state were facing similar development challenges, including insecurity, infrastructural deficit, unemployment, health and sanitation issues, among others, hence his decision to broaden the scope.

The governor said only four of the 23 local government areas in the state, namely Otukpo, Konshisha, Ushongo and Vandeikya, were spared of conflict between locals and herdsmen in the last six years.

Quote:“As at today, herdsmen have attacked 19 of the 23 local governments in Benue, claiming over 5,000 lives between 2013 and 2018. Over 195,000 homes and 30 churches worth billions of Naira were destroyed in the attacks,’’ Ortom said.

A Twitter user @JamalNathaniel_ took to platform to narrate how his cousin's husband killed her mom and dad, shot their son in the hand before killing himself over his wife's decision of wanting a divorce

Authorities said the dead victims include 54-year-old Vickie Danita Pickeral, 53-year-old Gregory Bruce Pickeral and the suspected shooter 42-year-old Mark McKinley Hughes Jr.

The murder-suicide incident occurred at Charles County in Maryland, United States on Friday August 2. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Diane Richardson, confirmed that the shooter's 11-year-old son was flown to a hospital where doctors deemed that his injuries were not life-threatening.

An initial investigation showed Hughes had entered the single-family home and opened fire. After the man finished killing his in-laws, a car in which his 11-year-old son was in, pulled up in the driveway. The driver was the boy’s aunt/Hughes’s sister-in-law and she was returning the child to his grandparents’ house after spending the day with him.

Hughes reportedly aimed at the vehicle, causing significant damage and hitting the child. The driver was however not struck by the gunfire but suffered injuries, police said.

Atiku To Buhari: I Speak For Millions, Victims Of Your Governance
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-04-2019, 04:12 PM - No Replies

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to address concrete issues of misgovernment and devastation his administration has caused Nigerians. Atiku asked Buhari to stop intimidation and campaign of calumny against the judiciary and opposition elements.

Reiterating his resolve to continue “to stand up and speak for millions of countrymen and women who have become victims of his (Buhari’s) misrule and grand cluelessness”

The former vice president’s comments were in response to allegations by the Presidency on Saturday that he was playing up negative developments in the country and raising harmful sentiments in pursuit of his ulterior motives.

The Presidency had described Atiku’s swift reaction to the allegation of secret burial of 1,000 Nigerian soldiers in hollow graves by Wall Street Journal as a ploy to influence judicial decision in his ongoing challenge of Buhari’s election, “because he’s blinded by unbridled ambition.”

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement titled, “Atiku’s Unrelenting Appeal to Emotion: A Gambit Doomed to Fail,” accused the former vice president of merely appealing to emotion in a bid to whip up sentiment and influence the decision of the judiciary on his petition before the Presidential Appeal Tribunal.

But reacting, in a statement by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku said his sustained interventions on the state of the body politic were to provide a voice for millions of victims of Buhari’s misrule. He said Nigerians were reawakened by the United Nations to the brutal reality of how poorly the president had managed the country’s economy with a damning verdict that 98 million Nigerians live in multi-dimensional poverty.

Atiku said, “Like it is typical of General Buhari and his handlers, they didn’t make any comment about the scary statistics coming from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Perhaps, one reason they didn’t want to comment on the report is because it is factual – Nigerians in the past four years indeed live in multi-dimensional poverty.
“Quite regrettably, too, the administration has been groping in the dark since 2015, the reason majority of Nigerians decided not to reward their failures during the February 23 presidential poll, consequently, leading to the heist that characterised the conduct of that poll.

“The other plausible reason they didn’t deem it fit to respond to the report is because Atiku Abubakar has yet to make a remark on the report.”

The statement also said, “If the only reason why the Buhari administration will react to the affliction it has brought on Nigerians is for Atiku to call the nation’s attention to how bad things have gone in the country under the slumber of General Buhari, Atiku will more than always be ready to stand and speak up for the millions of countrymen and women, who have become victims of his (Buhari’s) misrule and grand cluelessness.

“A Commander-in-Chief, who fits the bill, will not act unconstrained about reports from a reputable media organisation on welfare and wellbeing of troops at the frontline of combat. Shamefully, however, up till this moment, the Buhari administration won’t cause even a blinker on the damning report.”

According to Atiku, “Like is the case with other dysfunctional aspects of the system, his (Buhari’s) administration prefers to live in denial, relying on propaganda – the only machine that they know how to operate without a glitch.

“We need to restate that Atiku Abubakar respects the practical purpose of the judiciary as an arm of government saddled with the responsibility of dispensing justice.

“Therefore, for the Buhari administration to call out the judiciary on how they might choose to do their job is not only an emotional blackmail to the bench, it is also very disrespectful to the integrity of the honourable justices of the court of law.”

Chiemela Iroha, Gringory’s Son: Our Kidnappers Were Fulani Herdsmen
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-04-2019, 01:31 PM - No Replies

Quote:The son of the late comedian, James Iroha, alias Giringori, one of five persons kidnapped along Sagamu-Benin-Ore Expressway last Thursday has narrated their experience in the hands of their abductors.

Iroha, abducted alongside four others narrated their ordeal at the police officers mess in Abeokuta following their rescue by the Ogun State Police Command on Saturday.

According to him, they were made to treck some 30 kilometers into the forest as their abductors whom he described as Fulani herdsmen, humiliated and tortured them with every object available.

However, their respite came when a police surveillance helicopter hovered over the area which unsettled their abductors who abandoned them and ran away.

Iroha said, “Well it’s an experience I wouldn’t wish my enemy because it looks nice for me to stand before you, you needed to see me when I got rescued, I was manhandled, I was roughed, I was tortured name it.”

“It’s horrible where this country is driving at. This gentleman shot for like one hour on the road, until policemen came and they ran away and they took us inside a forest till this morning,,

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the police because the pressure they gave them led us released. If there was no pressure they would have had a field day. Why am I saying this because where we were held, we were put in a slum; we slept in a slum with insects and reptiles; we moved like 30 kilometers inside the jungle where nobody has treaded, they were comfortable there, they have very dangerous weapons.

“They have different ammunitions but the moment we see police helicopter that descended above our head, the kidnappers took to their heels and started being panicky, they knew that some people were on their trail. I also want to appreciate the local hunters, they were always coming out, we used to see them, there are some areas they couldn’t get to because they thought people can’t be there but that was where we were.

“Well from the looks, there are somethings I can’t say because it’s a bit sensitive because the police are on the matter now for the sake of not destroying the evidence. From the language they spoke, they are pure Fulani herdsmen no doubt about it, I wouldn’t want to go further than that.

“They don’t know me, I don’t know them either, I was in a bus, in fact, they told us that they don’t have business with us, but the car they were shooting at drove away with bullet. The guy managed to go with two tyres and they turned back and descended on us, they picked us randomly, we never knew them from Adam, they just said their bullets will not go away they needed someone to pay for it and they took us.”

We didn’t kill Enugu Catholic Priest - Miyetti-Allah

In reaction to the protest which was sparked by the August 1 murder of the Catholic priest of St James the Greater Parish Ugbuakwa in Enugu State, apex body of herdsmen, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has denied being responsible for the killing.

In a statement released by Chairman of MACBAN in South East Alhaji Giddado Siddiki, the herdsmen group condoled with the Catholic Diocese of Enugu.  MACBAN revealed that it was part of security and peace committee in the state and also bound to control it’s members.

Quote:The statement read “Again, our hearts bleed over the most dastardly murder of a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Paul Offu, of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. This is one murder too many! It is most condemnable and heartily regretted.

“Again, our society aches as a result of the activities of criminals who care less about the value of human life. It is painful that the security apparatuses of the government have not been able to contain the excesses of these men of the underworld who have continued to diminish the value of life in our society.
“We hereby most heartily condole the members of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, and all the Christian faithful on this very painful and irreparable loss.
“We once more call on the government to rise to the occasion and provide adequate security for the citizens of Nigeria across the length and breadth of the country.
“We maintain that crime, in whatever form of its perpetration, is anti-society. Criminals of any guise cause pains to society and should therefore be properly identified and made to face the full wrath of the law.
“While we mourn the sudden departure of Father Offu, we are very hopeful that this occasion will agitate the government sufficiently to respond to the challenge of criminality amongst us.
“Please, let all of us be duly consoled. May God receive the soul of His dutiful servant in Paradise.”

Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked the Kalagari community, a border village in northern Cameroon near Nigeria and did the unthinkable to the women's ears in the village,

Reports have it that members of the deadly sect sliced off the ears of women, who apparently had been helping by passing information to the Cameroonian and Multinational Joint Task Force, set up to degrade the insurgency.

The women were part of a vigilante group set up by the community, but when the Boko Haram militia came, they outnumbered the local forces and dealt with their women, Cameroon-info reports.

Cameroon.-info.net that reported the latest brutality by the insurgents said they have stepped up their attacks in Cameroon in recent times. On June 9, 16 Cameroon soldiers were killed in an attack in the own of Darak, Logone and Chari district.

The attack was carried out by an estimated 300 Boko Haram fighters. Eight civilians were also wounded in the attack.

President Paul Biya has come under criticism, for keeping mute over the attacks on Kalagari and Darak.

Biya however sent a condolence message to his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari over the attack last weekend in Nganzai district of Borno, in which at least 70 people reportedly died, including over 23 mourners.

The Boko Haram group had been known for all manners of bestial deeds, such as beheading victims, cutting their hands while pretending to enforce Sharia and burning homes of people.

Miyetti Allah leader, Saidu Kolaku shot dead in Adamawa State

Saidu Kolaku, the zonal vice chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has been shot dead.

Kolaku was an executive of MACBAN in Adamawa South until he was shot dead on Saturday., August 3rd 2019.

His death has been described by an official of MACBAN and other informed persons in the state as being a possible reprisal attack. Late Kolaku had been assisting security operatives in tracking down kidnappers and other criminals. He was recently honoured by the state police command for his efforts.

The police spokesman in the Adamawa State, Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident saying;

Quote:‘’Unknown gunmen stormed the resident of the Fulani leader located at Sabon Pegi in Mayo Belwa local government, shot him and left him in the pool of his blood. Following the incident, a distress call was forwarded to the police who rushed to the scene and took the victim to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty”.
Nguroje, a deputy superintendent of police, said the Adamawa State police commissioner has dispatched officials of the homicide department to investigate the murder.
Quote:‘’Indeed, police received the death of the slain man with shock because of his invaluable contribution towards fighting crime and criminality especially his gallantry in the fight against kidnappers. The command has launched manhunt for the fleeing culprits and God’swilling, they will be tracked down and brought to justice,” he said.
Reacting to the killing, the Public Relations Officer of Miyetti Allah in the state, Muhammad Buba, said the killing of Mr Kolaku may be a reprisal attack to avenge the role he played in tackling criminality especially kidnapping and cattle rustling.
Quote:‘’Efforts of Kolaku in fighting crime had made the police command to honour him on 17th July 2019, for his gallantry and valiant exploits in fighting kidnappers and cattle rustlers rampaging the state. It’s unfortunate that the death of our zonal leader will seriously undermine the fight against crime and criminality in the state,’’ the spokesperson of the Fulani herders’ association said.

20 people killed, 40 injured following mass shooting in Texas Walmart shopping centre

21 year old Patrick Crusius from Allen, Texas opened fire at a Texas Walmart shopping centre and killed "multiple" people.

The gunman fired at shoppers who were doing their Saturday shopping at the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso on August 3, said Mayor Dee Margo.

At least 22 people have been injured, with 11 victims being rushed to the University Medical Center of El Paso. Officials have not yet confirmed the number of fatalities but media puts it at at least 20.

Videos shared online shows shoppers hiding under tables as the sound of multiple gunshots can be heard in the background.

Chilling CCTV screenshots show the gunman aiming his weapon inside the shopping centre, while wearing headphones. Other videos show terrified shoppers being rushed out of the mall with their hands in the air.

The suspected gunman is in custody and has been identified as Patrick Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas, according to CNN.

It is believed investigators are analysing an online post published just days before the shooting, which could reveal a motive for the attack.

Officials don’t believe any other suspects are outstanding right now, despite the mayor saying earlier that there had been three people in custody, Metro UK reports.

Sylvia Saucedo, who filmed the video while hiding underneath the table, recounted the ordeal on Facebook in Spanish.

She wrote: "What a horrible experience! Shooting in Walmart in Cielo Vista!

"My mum and I were underneath the table filming this because 911 didn’t answer! I imagine that all of us that were there were calling at the same time. We’re so grateful to God for having looked after us."

Trump reacted to the mass shooting in Twitter, writing: "Terrible shootings in ElPaso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!"

Our kidnappers were Fulani herdsmen - RCCG pastor speaks

The female pastor who was one of the five pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God kidnapped near Ijebu-Ode on Friday and who regained her freedom early today said their abductors were Fulani herdsmen.

Mrs Ibelegbu Chidinma, a deaconness from Abia State RCCG 3, according to Vanguard, gave her testimony during the ongoing ministers conference on Saturday night.

Chidinma said she prayed that God should allow her captors to fall asleep after which she sneaked out of the kidnappers’ den. She was the first captive of the abductors that got in contact with the police this morning, before the four others were later rescued by the police.

Her testimony has further underscored the banditry threat posed by the criminal wing of herdsmen, on rampage in many parts of the country.

#RevolutionNow: Despite Sowore's arrest, the protest will go on as planned - Organisers insist

Organisers of the #RevolutionNow protest set to be staged on Monday August 5th, have said that the programme will hold as planned despite the arrest and detention of its leader, Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore was arrested by the Department of State services at about 1:25 am on Saturday. In a statement signed by Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the organisers vowed to continue the mass action in the face of government repression.

Quote:Ajayi said: "We have confirmed that Omoyele Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow protests, has been arrested. This arrest is not surprising to us. We know that the presidency has tried everything in their powers to discredit and dampen our struggle."
The group accused the presidency of intensifying efforts to scuttle the protests. The group said;
Quote:"For the past three days, the presidency has paid social media influencers hugely and such others to discredit the #RevolutionNow all to no avail! The presidency even went as far as attacking Amnesty International, believing that their blackmails would appeal to Nigerians.
"They also paid some ex-activists to counter us publicly but the mass of working people stood by #RevolutionNow!"  Also speaking on behalf of the Lagos branch of the African Action Congress (AAC), Ajayi called for more mobilization in defiance to the government.
"Lagos branch of the African Action Congress (AAC) condemns Sowore's arrest and Buhari's stubborn and cruel antidemocratic credentials. We believe that the #RevolutionNow will outlive all forces of repression, particularly the Buhari presidency.
"We call on the Coalition for Revolution (CORE) and other organizers to continue with mobilization. A failed government cannot use force to make the mass of people to accept its failure."

We’ve been dragged to court 1,600 times over 2019 election – INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu

The Chairman of the Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Saturday August 3, revealed that the 2019 general elections led to over 1,600 court cases.

The electoral commission boss made the disclosure after receiving award of excellence from the Kaduna chapter of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).  Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said the court cases centered on the rancour emanating from party primaries.

Quote:“We can have election that us free, but elections starts from party primaries, because they produce the candidates for the general education. However, before the last general elections, we had some of the most acrimonous party primaries in the history of elections in Nigeria, resulting to a large number of litigations.
“As we speak, INEC has been dragged to court 809 times over the conduct of primaries by political parties. If you add that to the post election litigations, we have so far been dragged to court over 1,600 times. So, we have been dragged to court of party primaries that, the suits challenging the conduct of the election.
“That not withstanding, elections can be free and fair, we are doing our best as an electoral comission, but INEC has its responsibilities clearly cut out, others have theirs, especially the political parties have theirs. But, working together, we will actually get to where we desire to be.” He said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 4TH AUGUST.

SPEAK THE TRUTH ALWAYS

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).

Some people can’t seem to put a stop to certain unpleasant habits, such as lying. But being born again, you have a different nature; you’re not in servitude to sin or Satan, because you’ve been made free from death and the law of sin. The very thing that makes people sin has been disabled in your life.
Therefore, you can say, “No” to any bad habit, and that’ll be it. All that’s required is your decision, and the discipline to stick to the Word. The Word says, “Put away lying”; therefore, say to yourself, “I tell the truth only, and always, no matter what!”

You can quit whatever it is you do that you know is wrong; you only need to make up your mind. Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Sin can no longer keep you in bondage; it can’t make you do what you don’t want to do anymore, because you have a new nature—the God-nature.

Our opening scripture counted a lying tongue and a false witness among the things that the Lord detests. So, put away lying; it’s not a part of your new nature in Christ. The Bible says, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). Now that you’re in Christ, you’ve put on the new man; you’re different. Act accordingly. Speak the truth always.

PRAYER

Precious Father, I thank you for my new life in Christ. I’ve put on the new man, which is created in righteousness and true holiness. I’ve put away the works of the flesh, and live only in, and by, the truth of your Word. Thank you for bringing me into the liberty of the Spirit, as I walk in the glory of my new life and nature in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

4TH AUGUST.

I affirm that my life is improved and upgraded by the power of God’s Word. The Spirit of God has granted me divine insight into the Father’s perfect will in all things. I have an unction from the Holy One! That anointing is working in my body, finances, career, family, and all that concerns me. It sets me apart for greatness, causing me to spread and make progress on every side, to the glory of the Father. Hallelujah!

I have an understanding heart; for the eyes of my understanding have been enlightened to know the hope of God’s calling, and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.   IGP Adamu Warns Against 'Revolution Now', Calls it "treasonable felony"
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-03-2019, 11:50 PM - No Replies

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has raised concerns about a planned ‘revolution’ march against the Nigerian government by the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria, calling it a ‘treasonable felony’ and warning that acts of terrorism would not be tolerated.

Adamu, who gave the warning in Abuja, said that the Nigeria Police Force would “not stand idly-by and watch any individual or group” cause anarchy in the country.

The IGP, while stressing that Nigerians have the right to protest, however warned that such rights should not translate to a violent and forceful change of government which, he said, would amount to a “clear revolution.”

In a statement signed by Force public relations officer Frank Mba, IGP Adamu says:

"The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a video circulating on the social media by the ‘Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria and others’, inciting Nigerians, home and abroad, to join a planned ‘revolution’ march against the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Monday, 5th August, 2019 with the sole aim of forcing a regime change in the country.

“The Force wishes to state unequivocally that the call amounts to treasonable felony and acts of terrorism and will, therefore, not stand idly-by and watch any individual or group in the society cause anarchy in the land. While acknowledging the rights of Nigerians to embark on protest, the Force wishes to note that such rights should not translate to a violent and forceful change of government which clearly is the meaning of ‘revolution’. Needless to state that Nigeria is a democratic republic and has well-defined processes for change of government, exercised periodically during various cycle of elections.

“The Force therefore warns the organizers, sponsors, allies, supporters, associates and sympathizers of the group ‘Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria’ to, in their own interest, steer clear of any such planned protest, demonstration, acts of incitement and proposed “revolution”, as the full wrath of the law will be brought to bear on any individual or group engaged or found participating in the above planned criminal act.

“Parents and Guardians are, therefore, enjoined to impress on their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used in whatever form by any person or group of persons to cause breach of law and order in the country. The Police will work with other Law Enforcement Agencies and positive minded Nigerians to protect, defend and secure our public peace and space.”

Flood Ravages Imo, Orsu Obodo, Oguta. 60 Homes Submerged (photos)

Not less than 60 houses have been submerged in Orsu Obodo in Oguta Council Area of Imo State, as flood ravaged the riverine community on Friday night.

No fewer than 2000 people including, women and children have been displced following the incident.

It will be recalled that most communities in Oguta Council Area were submerged in 2012 during the flood that ravaged most part of the country.

According to some the flood victims, they had gone to bed on Friday night while it was raining heavily without any primonition that the river was going to overrun the bank.

One of them said: “We were still in bed when the water started rushing into our homes and in less than 30 minutes, the whole place was covered by water.

“We could barely savage our property as we tried to save our lives first, we were not expecting such misfortune because our farms are submerged as well”.

The lawmaker representing Oguta state constituency, Frank Ugboma called for urgent intervention from relevant government authorities to resettle the displaced persons and alleviate their plight.

The lawmaker made the call on Saturday when he visited the flooded community to ascertain the level of havoc wrecked by the flood.

But Ugboma who expressed regret on the incident urged Imo state government to provide immediate succor for the displaced people.

He said Oguta has been vulnerable to flood “This is the constituency I am representing our land is a flood prone area but I assure my people that I will surely present this problem to the floor of the house”, he said.

He added : “I feel the pain of all of you and we are making effect to provide urgent succor for all of you so be assured that the government is aware of your problem”, he said.

Deputy Governor of Imo Mr Gerald Irona who accompanied the lawmaker during the assessment attributed the incident to buildings erected on the waterways in the area.

He appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to intervene in the matter for both relief materials and other ways of assisting the flood victims.

Meanwhile, NEMA has given the total number of displaced people as two thousand, while also confirming that sixty houses were submerged in the area.

The Head of Imo/Abia operations office of NEMA Mr Evans Ugoh urged government to muster political courage to demolish some houses built on the waterways in the area.

He said, on the sport assessment of the incident proved that while sixty houses were submerged, two thousand people were also displaced.
