Boko Haram Recaptures Gubio And Magumeri In Borno
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Exactly seven days ago, the Governor of Borno State, Umana Zulum had appealed to the people of Gubio not to flee from their homes. The residents had planned to leave for fear of the insurgents as a result of what they alleged to be a tactical withdrawal of troops from Gubio.

The Governor had assured that it was simply operational changes and nothing more and assured them of their safety.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/boko-haram-dont-flee-borno-gov-tells-gubio-residents/amp/
A week later, here you have it;

Quote:Two Local Government Areas of Gubio and Magumeri in Northern Borno Senatorial District are currently under the control of Boko Haram when the insurgents in their large number launched a coordinated attack on the communities beginning from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning without confrontation.

Both Gubio and Magumeri have no military presence as troops were withdrawn recently for routine operational changes as enshrined in the Rules of Engagement.

Our Correspondent gathered that hundreds of thousands of residents have been displaced while others are under the captivity of insurgents, especially those who chose not to flee the attacks.

In Gubio, the insurgents on Wednesday evening invaded the Council Headquarters shooting sporadically, posing fear that scores of residents were killed and injured with setting ablaze of houses.

Confirming the incident, the Caretaker Chairman of Gubio, Hon Zanna Modu Gubio said, the insurgents stormed Gubio town at about 6 pm, performed their maghrib prayers at about 6:30 pm and wreaked havoc on innocent civilians with setting ablaze houses and public structures.

The Caretaker Chairman who spoke to our Correspondent while in Maiduguri during the attack said: “It is unfortunate that a week after deadly attack which took place in Gubio that led to the withdrawal of troops, another armed insurgent stormed Gubio town at about 6 pm, performed their maghrib prayers at about 6:30 pm in Gubio Mosque before wrecked havoc on innocent civilians with setting ablaze of houses and public structures.

"I am presently in Maiduguri for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Commissioners, and all of a sudden, I started receiving distress calls that my people are under Boko Haram attack.

“Although I cannot give you the actual number of casualties for now, from all indications and the reports I have so far, the insurgents have taken over Gubio shooting at sight and burning structures without confrontation,” Gubio lamented.

Also in Magumeri, the insurgents, before taking over, succeeded in razing down the Council Secretariat, other public structures and residential houses including that of the Member Federal House of Representatives of Gubio, Magumeri and Kaga Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Zannah.

Speaking to our Correspondent on Thursday Morning, Hon. Zannah who represent the constituency at the lower chamber said, “Two Local Government Areas of Gubio and Magumeri where I hail from have been overrun by Boko Haram.

"As I speak, all good houses in Gubio and Magumeri have been set ablaze including my House and the Council Secretariat. My people have been displaced, and there is nothing we can do than to bring survivors into Maiduguri.

"It is unfortunate that the insurgents took advantage of troops withdrawal from the affected areas and wreaked havoc without confrontation.”

Canada is ‘stealing’ our young people!

Canada is ‘stealing’ our young people!

August 21, 2019

Yes, Canada is not just taking our young people, they are taking the fattest of our crops, the best, the brightest, and the brainiest!
One of them is my friend, Olufemi, (not real name). He graduated top of his class and best in the entire university! Nine years after graduation, he got married to his equally cerebral lawyer wife, and they both had fairly paying jobs that admitted them into the struggling middle class in Nigeria. A year after marriage, Olufemi,  disillusioned by the state of his family’s finances, the  situation in the country and the underutilisation of his skills, and intellect at his place of work, sold all his assets and relocated his young family to Canada!

Femi’s story is not unique, almost every young  Nigerian professional  who is not in the process of immigrating to Canada, knows a friend, family or colleague who  has relocated or is  in the process of relocating. The situation is alarming, almost like the biblical “rapture”: you come to work one day, you see your colleagues, you resume the next day, and they are gone!
I recently had a conversation with a millennial working in one of the big four audit firms; the conversation bordered on the number of young professionals leaving the country for Canada. He informed me that their firm had started a WhatsApp group for ex-staff members that had immigrated to Canada; as of the time of having that discussion about 70  Nigerian immigrants had joined the group. A similar conversation with another tax consultant also working in one of the “big four” revealed the same trend. According to him, almost all his colleagues in their audit department had immigrated to Canada or some part of Europe!

Why Canada, you may ask? Well, Canada has an immigration process carefully designed to attract highly skilled young professionals. It requires you to be of a certain age bracket (the younger you are, the more points you gain) to take a “Test of English”, send your academic transcripts, have certain amount in your bank account and Voila! you get a Canadian Permanent Residence.
The process, while seamless, is expensive for the average Nigerian, and is also a clear indication of the class of people they want: comfortable, highly educated, extremely skilled, young professionals, hence the people who go through this process are not poor by Nigerian standard.

As a young professional in this country, you begin to wonder if there is something wrong with you if you have not  commenced your  own immigration process. When you see your friends and colleagues resign from their jobs, sell their property, and leave the country; when you watch them upload pictures of their new countries of residence on social media and ‘brag’ about how the system works; when they inform you gleefully of how they have “secured” the future of their children, and invite you to join them, you wonder if, perhaps, you are not missing out on life opportunities for your own children!

Sir, the young people leaving the country are not unpatriotic, the reality is that  Nigeria has not been kind to her youths! Furthermore, this brain drain did not start with young people nor did it start in this generation. When political  and  religious leaders send  their children  outside the country to be educated or when they  seek heath care outside the shores of their country, they send a clear and uncontroverted message to our young people  that they do not  believe  in the future of their country! Young people are therefore simply taking a cue from her leaders,  yet, this  mass immigration  in recent times  is nothing like  what happened in the past: it is massive, and it is alarming! Young bright people immigrating to a foreign land is the most telling evidence of a failed leadership!

What state of affairs of a country would make its young people leave e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.ng: family, friends,  some measure of certainty and in some cases extremely good jobs for  a foreign country,  full of uncertainties and oftentimes for less than inspiring jobs?

Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, has accused politicians of praising terrorists and “warwongers” as national heroes.
Onaiyekan said this while lamenting over the attitude of politicians who place personal ambitions above the welfare of Nigerians.

He spoke at the 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace, in Lindau, Germany, Wednesday.
The clergyman also stated that recent developments in Nigeria and across the world have indicated that people were at a critical cross road.
He said: “Our future can no longer be taken for granted. First, on the political front, it is pertinent to note that even today, many political leaders still eulogize warmongers and terrorists of the past, praised as national heroes and accorded the title ‘Great’.

“Can we imagine what this is saying to the younger generation, dreaming of a peaceful future? But this is not just a matter of past history.
“Even today, are we still not measuring greatness by military prowess, which often translates to economic domination and exploitation of others? Personal ambition must give way to a community of shared well-being of the human family
“In this necessary change of heart, all other stakeholders must be involved— civil society, the business community, the industrial world, professions and the academia, everyone must play its respective role.”

Reno Omokri queries Abba Kyari’s influence in Buhari govt

Reno Omokri, an ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has questioned the stronge influence of Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, in the current government.
He wondered who is in charge of the country between Kyari and Buhari.

Omokri stated this on Wednesday in a series of tweets posted on his Twitter handle.
He wrote: “Abba Kyari queries Tunde Fowler. Abba Kyari queries Head of Service. Abba Kyari tenders General Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘WAEC.’
“Ministers to clear with Abba Kyari. Abba Kyari summons top military chiefs. Biko, who is in charge between Buhari and Kyari?”

In another Twitter post, Omokri went sarcastic when he suggested that Buhari might have decided to avoid the ministers because some of them were on the debtors’ list of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and some others were being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He wrote, “I can’t really blame General Muhammadu Buhari for asking his ministers to pass through Abba Kyari if they need anything.
“Even you, would you like to associate with men who are among those owing AMCON N5trn and who have EFCC corruption cases?” he asked.

Buhari has reduced ministers to Abba Kyari’s clerical aides and Its completely unacceptable - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused President Buhari of reducing ministers to his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari’s clerical aides with the directive that they (ministers) must channel all their meeting requests to him through Kyari.

PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said it was an indication that Nigerians would not enjoy good governance during Buhari’s second term.

Quote:“The directive also suggests that Mr President as the Minister of Petroleum Resources will also go through the Chief of Staff on policy matters. He has abdicated his responsibility and ceded it to his Chief of Staff.”

Ologbondiyan also said such demotion of ministers was unacceptable, counter-productive, adding that it only reduced governance to a domestic affair.

The President had on Tuesday, at the close of the two-days retreat organised for the ministers, asked them to always go through Kyari for meeting requests and through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, for issues relating to the Federal Executive Council.

Quote:“As I said yesterday (Tuesday), in terms of coordinating communication, kindly ensure that all submissions for my attention or meeting requests be channelled through the Chief of Staff while all Federal Executive Council matters be coordinated through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in order to speed up the process of decision-making.”

‘Shell JV, SNEPCo have paid $2b to NDDC’
• We don’t owe the Commission

The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Joint Venture, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) and its co-venture partners have contributed $2 billion to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The Media Relations Manager, Shell Nigeria, Bamidele Odugbesan, stated this while reacting to the allegation that the oil giant was among the 50 oil firms that owe the NDDC.

Shell was named among the oil companies that owe the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Some oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region owe the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) N1.2 trillion due to their failure to pay their dues to the commission.

The Principal Partner, Paris Trust Limited, Timothy Bagwams, who said his firm was authorised by the NDDC to serve letters to the defaulting oil companies that owe the Commission, noted that Shell was among the defaulters.Oil companies in Nigeria statutorily are mandated to pay three per cent of their annual budget to the Commission. However, Bagwams stated that  the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), National Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Chevron, Shell, Agip, Pan Ocean oil, Petrobras, Seplat, Moni Pulo Petroleum Development, South Atlantic Petroleum and Slumberger, among others, owe the commission.

According to the Bagwams, since 2015, the majority of the oil companies have failed to remit the statutory three per cent to the Commission, which affects the efficient operation of the Commission and the development of the Niger Delta region.

Shell’s spokesperson Odugbesan said the company is current in payment of its dues to NDDC. He said: “The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) is up to date in the payment of all levies payable to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in compliance with the NDDC Act.

“SPDC’s remittance till the end of 2018 has been acknowledged and signed off by NDDC. We are awaiting NDDC’s receipts for payments from January to June 2019. SPDC, therefore, has no outstanding sums due and owing to the NDDC up to June 2019, and we have communicated this to the commission in response to their demand notice.”

Odugbesan also stated that between the inception of NDDC in 2002 and the end of 2018, SPDC JV parties, SNEPCo and its co-venture partners contributed $2 billion to the NDDC.

The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of NNPC, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, in his reaction, confirmed that the Corporation owes NDDC. However, he stated that NNPC has started the repayment some months ago.

He said: “There is nothing wrong in being indebted to someone or an organisation. We are indebted to NDDC, but we have reached an agreement with them (NDDC) on repayment and we have started the repayment few months ago.”

Bagwams reiterated that Section 14(2)(b) of the NDDC Act, 2014 stipulates that three per cent of the total annual budget of any oil producing company operating onshore and offshore the Niger Delta region including gas processing companies shall be paid and credited to the fund established by the NDDC for the defrayal of all expenditure.

“But as I speak with you, the companies are owing NDDC more than N1.2 trillion, and this is why the Commission is achieving little in addressing the developmental needs of the region,” he said, adding that Paris Trust Limited is undertaking the facilitation and payment of the debts owed NDDC by oil firms and would be left with no option than to resort to legal action if at the end of a seven-day ultimatum the oil companies fail to make the remittances.

Aiteo eyes 250,000 bpd oil production

 August 22, 2019

Aiteo Group is negotiating an alternative financing package that would enable it fund about $5 billion investment to be able to increase its oil production to about 250 000 barrels per day (bpd). This  will also  grow gas output to about 3 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas.

The Managing Director, Eastern Exploration and Production Company, the upstream arm of Aiteo, Mr. Victor Okonkwo, stated this at a forum in Abuja. According to him, there will be a blend of financing options depending on the alternative financing mechanism the company is working out with its joint venture partner.

He noted that Aiteo operates key strategic business of oil infrastructures in Nigeria and a major stakeholder across the energy value chain with huge investments in the country. The company, Okonkwo said, was one of the biggest single investment decision makers up to 2014, when it invested over $2.5 billion in acquiring oil milling lease (OML) 29 asset.

The company is Nigeria’s largest indigenous company by production and we are committed to producing between 80,000 bpd and 90,000 bpd. ‘’In the short to midterm, we are going to 150,000 bpd and in the mid to long term we are going to 250,000 bpd, we want to secure energy supply for the rest of Africa and move from fossil fuel to clean fuel’’, he stated.

He also spoke on the challenges facing the indigenous players such as oil theft and pipeline vandalism. He stressed the need for the Federal Government to look more into securing energy assets. According to him, the company had lost over $2 billion to pipeline vandalism due to frequent attacks on its Nembe Creek Trunck Line (NCTL).  He stated that there had been a lot of intrusions in the pipeline leading to outages of the company’s production and sometimes shutdown. This pipeline, according to him, does not only deliver the company’s crude to the terminal but it carries crude for five other companies including Shell. He said the shutdown impacts the firm in financial terms. ‘’As a result of these pipe breakages and oil theft, we have lost over $2 billion in the past four years. This is what we have lost not just as a company but also as a nation’’, he added.

‘’The consequential royalties and other revenues that ought to accrue to the government were lost just because of the activities of these vandals. That is why we are calling on government to collaborate on finding a lasting solution to this menace’’.

The Aiteo chief explained that the challenges in the industry call for the need for the Federal Government to conclude on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) to secure oil and gas infrastructure. “If the government can do that, we will have more money available to build infrastructure for the country and save our petro dollars,” he said, adding that Aiteo as one of the pioneers of indigenous oil companies has come out strongly to invest in drilling, re-entries, and new wells.

On gas production increase, Okonkwo stated that if the company achieves the planned production target, such quantity of gas would be enough to generate more than 1.2 gigawatts of electricity, which will contribute substantially to solve Nigeria’s power sector problem especially unstable electricity supply and frequent blackouts.

On the downstream arm of the company, Okonkwo said the company has the largest installed storage capacity for petroleum products in West Africa, which is over 230million litres.

Meanwhile, the company is looking at investing about N1 billion in education, health and security for its host communities in Bayelsa State. Besides several other things, the company provides power, for the communities. Okonkwo said the company plans to build 24 hours uninterrupted power in the coming years for the people.

“Our host communities are very important to us and at this point I like to give it to the communities of Nembe who are hosting majority of our production and they have been supportive in Aiteo’s goal to achieve its objectives,” Okonkwo stated.

Afenifere, Ohanaeze Kick As North-west Gets Nine Senior Ministers
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Samson Folarin & Tobi Aworinde

Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndigbo have criticised the allocation of ministries by President Muhammadu Buhari, with all nine ministers from the North-West receiving senior positions.

Among the six geopolitical zones in the country, the North West, which consists of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, have the highest number of ministers, all of which received senior portfolios.

The President, who hails from Katsina State, also garnered the highest number of votes from the North-West.

The nine cabinet members from the North-West include Suleiman Adamu (Jigawa State), who was appointed Minister of Water Resources; Zainab Ahmed (Kaduna State), Minister of Finance; Muhammad Mahmood (Kaduna State), Minister of Environment; and Sabo Nanono (Kano State), Minister of Agriculture and Development.

Others are Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Kano State), Minister of Defence; Hadi Sirika (Katsina State), Minister of Aviation; Abubakar Malami (Kebbi State), Minister of Justice; Maigarai Dingyadi (Sokoto State), Minister of Police Affairs; and Sadiya Umar Faruk (Zamfara State), Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

The National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, who spoke to one of our correspondents, said the appointment of the ministers was a reflection of “sectionalism on the part of the President.”

According to him, the appointment mirrored the complaints made by critics in Buhari’s first term as president.

Odumakin said, “That is next level of sectionalism in your face, and incorrigibility.

“There have been complaints about all these things since the first term.

“Now, it has been done in super way. So, that is the next level. Welcome to the next level.”

The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Uche Achi-Okpoga, said his group was not surprised by the development.

He noted that Buhari had repeatedly promised to give the North-West preference in his cabinet.

He said, “It is not a surprise. We were not expecting anything less. We have a President that does not mince words.

“He stated it in his first tenure that he would not sacrifice those who gave him 97 per cent votes to those who gave him may be five per cent. So, why should we be surprised that he gave juicy and senior positions to his kinsmen?

“He has demonstrated it in his body language, speeches, action and everything.

“He also said we should not expect him to change.

“We will survive him and another president will come who will change things.”

Buhari To Visit South Africa Over Xenophobic Attacks On Nigerians
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-22-2019, 10:15 AM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari will embark on a state visit to South Africa as part of the efforts to put an end to incessant xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in that country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, disclosed this wednesday in Abuja during an interaction with the media shortly after he was inaugurated.

The minister who refused to reveal the date the president would be embarking on the trip, also stressed the need to establish a hotline between the two countries.

Onyeama stated: “We have to have a hotline between ministers and the minister of South Africa. We have to be on hotline. So, if we feel that the South African government at the highest level needs to act, then we can get in touch with them.

“But more specifically, as regards to south Africa, our president has accepted to go on a state visit to South Africa and the South African president, the former and the present one elevated our bi-national commission with south Africa from ministerial level to presidential level.

So, what we are looking at is a special relationship between South Africa and Nigeria that can be also a game changer for African the same way the Franco-German alliance has been the engine of the European Union.

We want to see a situation where that will be the case. South Africa, and Nigeria are driving Africa economically, and socially for the next 50 or so years and in that framework, we need to address the issue of security of Nigerians in South Africa at the very highest level.

When the two presidents are engaged on this, I think all those below that have to do something or will be forced to do something.

Onyeama noted that while there was a trust deficit between the Nigerian Union in South Africa and the South African police.

He said it was important to get the two working together to address this issue

The minister explained further that Citizen diplomacy would be a major priority in the next four years, while the ministry would equally continue to engage various countries to ensure repatriation of stolen funds.

According to him, “for this, I will like to see us have a 24-hour help desk so that every Nigerian anywhere in the world will have a number that they can call whenever they are having any issues of any kind and that will be managed from a central point and transferred immediately to wherever we will be able to provide that solution.

As a help-desk for every Nigerian anywhere in the world – if they have complaints, that it is going to be addressed at the highest possible level.

Onyeama stated that the ministry would provide oversight over all Nigerian agencies around the world to ensure that they are providing the best services they can for Nigerians.

In that context too, we have to look in particular the security of Nigerians in all the countries around the world.

We are going to be a lot more aggressive and robust in engaging with countries to ensure that the human rights and security of Nigerians anywhere in the world is respected,” Onyeama assured.

On the economy, he said that the federal government would develop what he called Nigeria Economy Development Initiative, adding that the ministry would play a key role in promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Nigeria, while also leveraging on the physical presence of the country in about 100 countries around to promote export for Nigerian businesses.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 22TH AUGUST

ETERNAL LIFE: YOU HAVE IT ALREADY

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life… (1 John 5:11-12).

The Lord Jesus said in John 5:26, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself.” In our opening scripture, we read that God has given us eternal life. Many think of eternal life as a promise from God, but it isn’t. It’s your present-hour possession in Christ. You have eternal life NOW!

When you were born again, you received the life and nature of God into your spirit; it happened in realtime. That eternal life, which is the life and nature of God, ought to have an impact in your physical body. That’s what the Bible says: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies…” (Romans 8:11).

The verse above became a reality in your life the moment Christ took up His abode in you. Thus, your hitherto death-doomed (mortal) body was vitalised. Oh, that the Church would major on this reality! This has to become something you’re conscious of every day.

John writes in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life….” Eternal life is in Jesus Christ; it’s the life that He gives everyone who believes.

The reason some may be struggling with their health is their lack of understanding and consciousness of eternal life. Eternal life isn’t subject to sickness; it’s death and disease-proof! Your physical body has become the living tabernacle of a living God. Do you know what that means?

The Word declares: if Christ be in you, though your body be dead because of sin, the Spirit gives it life because of righteousness (Romans 8:10). In Colossians 1:27, Paul declares: “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Blessed be God!

CONFESSION

Christ lives in me! His divine power has given me everything I require to live a godly and triumphant life, fulfilling my divine purpose in Him. I’m the God-man, full of the graces and glories of divinity. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

22ND AUGUST.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the inspiration and assurance that comes from Your Word. Thank You for the opportunities I have to preach the Word to those around me. I move with the speed and urgency of the Spirit, guided by Your wisdom in leading many to righteousness.

I receive increased grace and ability to fulfil the ministry of reconciliation to those in my world, and in the regions beyond. I have no consciousness of need because You’ve given unto me all things that pertain to life and godliness. You have qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. Thus, by faith, and with joy, I draw from the wells of salvation, having all sufficiency in all things, and abounding in every good work, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Quote:A graduate of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Mr. Ajibola Olubando has emerged recipient of the Lebanese Nigeria Initiative (LNI) scholarship programme. Olubando beats other 15 contesting students to clinch the prestigious scholarship. With this feat, Olubando is now the first Nigerian postgraduate student to enjoy this keenly contested scholarship.

Speaking during the unveiling of the first LNI Scholarship programme held in Lagos, Consul General of Lebanon, Mr. Elias Nicolas said: ‘’LNI scholarship will further strengthen our existing friendly relations and adds to other economic and social development contributions of Lebanese community in Nigeria.’’

According to him, the Lebanese community in Nigeria has always conceived itself as part of the social fabric of its commitment towards the educational upliftment of young Nigerians.

He explained that the annual scholarship programme was based on an endowment fund established by LNI in cooperation with the American University of Beirut.

Nicolas, however lauded the efforts of the Chairman of LNI, Mr. Faisal El-Khalii and other members of the scholarship board of trustees, adding that their hard work have made it successful.

He said: ‘’Based on a multilingual and cosmopolitan cultural and social environment, Lebanon accommodates several international recognized higher education institutions.

‘’Many high caliber minds, scientists and high profile politicians, including heads of state and prime ministers around the middle east and beyond were graduates of the AUB and other Lebanese universities.

Now, I’d like to congratulate Mr. Olubando Ajibola, as the first Nigerian postgraduate student that has been selected for the scholarship this year, after a long and highly competitive process.’’

Meanwhile, the Vice President of LNI, Mr. Ali Safieddine said that the chairman and other members of the board met and discussed what to do to Nigeria, since the country has blessed them. The LNI-AUB MBA endowment fund worth $1.5m will enable two Nigerians to attend AUB every year for life.

He said: ‘’ It has resulted in the endowment fund which they give to a tertiary institution to invest for them and the income generated is used to pay a Nigerian students school fees for MBA. ‘’This was done with the AUB, since it was one of the most prestigious universities in Lebanon that pass the ivy league outside the USA with over a thousand professors.’’

The scholarship recipient, Mr. Ajibola Olubando, a second class upper graduate of petroleum and gas engineering expressed gratitude to the management of LNI for the gesture.

He said: ‘’The knowledge I will gain would be used to impact the economy of Nigeria, since MBA gives the opportunity to learn various business skills.

Office of the Nacortics Control Board (ONCB) in Thailand on Wednesday, August 21, announced the arrest of Nigerian and Kenyan nationals.

ONCB Chief Niyom Termsrisuk, who disclosed this today, said the Kenyan was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport this week after it was allegedly discovered he had swallowed 68 capsules of cocaine weighing a 1,200 grams.

The Nigerian national identified as Joseph Ukpa Osita, who allegedly hired him and others to bring drugs into Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries was subsequently taken into custody.

Niyom said Airport Interdiction Task Force officers arrested 43-year-old Glenn Chibasellow Ooko at the airport and then 40-year-old Osita in Bangkok.

He said the task force had arrested 43 people between October 2018 and last month.

Thirty-six were trying to smuggle drugs out and seven to smuggle drugs in. They intercepted 21,685 grams of crystal meth (“ice”), 24,100 grams of heroin, 30,478 ecstasy pills, 25,190 grams of cocaine and 32,214 grams of ketamine at the various international airports.

Niyom warned Thais travelling abroad, especially to Japan, to spurn strangers asking them to carry anything on their behalf. They could be duped into smuggling narcotics.

He said there were cases of Thai travellers being arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into Japan, most often women lured by the promise of free passage if they carried drugs in their luggage

American man is lucky to be alive after his dog rescued him during a shark attack

Mr James White has his pitbull to thank after the dog bravely came to his rescue during a shark attack.

Mr White accidentally caught the animal while fishing in Bodega Bay, Sonoma County, California and the 6ft predator sank its teeth into his ankle, puncturing an artery, after he removed the hook from its mouth.

As he struggled to get the shark off him, his loyal dog, Darby, heard his cries for help, leapt out of the car, sprinted downhill and pounced on his attacker.

The dog bit one of the shark's gills, prompting the predator to sink its teeth even further into Mr White's flesh.

Darby, nicknamed House Hippo, then went for the animal's tail, dragging the shark off its owner and up the hill.

Hamisu Wadume in his confession to the police upon getting re-arrested in Kano, revealed that the army captain that ordered soldiers to attack the undercover Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives transporting him to Taraba State Police Headquarters for interrogation, is on his payroll alongside other officers.

The Taraba kidnap kingpin on Wednesday August 21, said he paid huge amounts into the army captain’s bank account three weeks ago and also paid his way through checkpoints to avoid getting arrested with his gang members. The Nation reported that the re-arrested suspect and his gang gave N20,000 to security agents each time they passed a checkpoint.

The army captain identified as Balarabe, ordered soldiers to “rescue” Wadume after his 'boys' "Babaruns”  and ”Zubairu” called him on August 6  to tell him about his arrest. The kidnap kingpin on Tuesday August 20, revealed how the army captain freed him from police custody. He said the soldiers drove him to the barracks before he was taken to the army captain's house, where a welder was invited to cut off the hand and leg chains.

The police recovered 13 vehicles and identified several choice properties in Taraba and Nasarawa allegedly bought through proceeds of crime, after Wadume revealed that he has three kidnap syndicates in Taraba and Nasarawa states with a network of major firearms suppliers. He also owns over 400 cows which his rearers fled with upon learning that their boss had been arrested.

Quote:“He has made so many revelations. A lot of things have been said that I don’t want to talk about to avoid jeopardising ongoing investigations. It is a huge network and so many people are involved.
“I can tell you that he confessed to have paid huge money into the Captain’s bank  account three weeks ago and that he usually gave each checkpoint N20,000 each time he passed,” said a source privy to the investigation.

It was further learnt that Wadume's video confession of being taken to army barracks where his handcuff was removed through the effort of a welder, has gotten the Joint Investigative Panel set up by the Defence Headquarters worried. Insiders said Wadume’s viral video confession placed the military high command in bad light, as the police high command ought to have talked things through with army chiefs since the investigation was ongoing.

Quote: “We are seriously disturbed and alarmed by the latest video on the purported confession of the re-arrested kingpin, Wadume, while in the custody of the police.
“Though it is a commendable effort for the re-arrest of the kidnap kingpin, the video recording of the alleged confession of Wadume while the panel is still conducting its investigation is quite worrisome as efforts are being put in place to ensure smooth relations between the military and the police before the offending confession.
“Though our panel was inaugurated on August 9 with an initial one-week deadline, we have been mandated to continue and conclude the probe as soon as possible.
“The arrest of Wadume would definitely shed more light on our investigation, considering the volume of arrests and interrogations so far"  a source said.

Teacher admits to killing and chopping up girl with albinism for rituals

A 40-year-old South African teacher, Josiah Thubane, has pleaded guilty to abducting and killing a 13-year-old girl with albinism for rituals commonly known as 'Muti'.

Gabisile was killed after some men abducted her from her home at Hlalakahle in eMalahleni area of Mpumalanga in 2018. Her 15-month-old baby cousin, Nkosikhona Ngwenya, who wasn't an albino was also abducted but later thrown alive off a bridge to drown in a dam near the N4 highway.

Anna Shabane, mother of 13-year-old Gabisile revealed that the incident led to a beefed up security in her home as she gave her testimony at the Middelburg High Court on Tuesday August 20. She also said her family was living in fear as her daughter's murder destroyed her family.

Quote:"I was close to my daughter, and her twin sister Khanyisile has been more shattered by her sister's passing. The manner in which she was killed makes me feel that they should have taken me and not her," she said sobbing.

The aggrieved mother also disclosed that she still has flashbacks of the day she found her daughter's headless and decomposed body with missing body parts.

Quote:"I replay the vivid images in my head over and over again and I keep hoping she would come back. She was young and had a bright future ahead of her," Shabane said.
"I was helped by the municipality after my family was attacked to build a wall around my home and to put in cameras, but my community accused me of selling my children for money to renovate my home" she added.

The mother of the murdered 15-month-old baby was also psychologically affected, Police prosecutor Ntsika Mpolweni confirmed. Mpolweni said the baby boy was abducted while his mother, Nompumelelo Ngwenya was breastfeeding him.

Quote:"The fear is so extreme that the [toddler] cannot even go and play outside with other children and that is as the result of the attack, abduction and killing of two of their children" the police prosecutor said.

Sowetan reported that Thubane, a father of four and teacher admitted to being part of the plan to kill Gabisile in a statement read out in court. He confessed to knowing that she was being abducted to be killed for her body parts. He also admitted to killing baby Nkosikhona.

Quote:"I admit that on the 27-28 of January 2018 I did unlawfully and intentionally kill the baby by throwing him off the bridge of Zaalklap River. I admit that on the next day in Cullinan, I killed Gabisile Shabane, a 13-year-old," said Thubane who apologized to the murder victims' family before being led out of court.

It is expected that other co-conspirators which include Thokozani Msibi said to be a traditional healer, Brilliant Mkhize and Knowledge Mhlanga will appear in court again on May 25. 2020.

9 Northern groups pull out of #RevolutionNow protest scheduled for August 22nd

Nine groups out of the 15 that formed the Joint Northern Action Front to participate in a planned #Revolutionow protest in some northern states on August 22, have pulled out.

The Secretary of the groups, Tanko Mustapha made the declaration in a joint press statement issued on Wednesday night in Kaduna State saying; “we are pleased to announce today that these nine groups have resolved to pull its members out of tomorrow’s planned protests called by the Joint Northern Action Front which we were part of”.

Mustapha said their withdrawal from the protests was based on some considerations.

Quote:“We have reviewed the planned protests by critically looking into the nature, salient intentions and most importantly the likely negative consequences on the North in particular and democracy in general.
“We discovered that the main intention of the protests is far from checking government excesses that are of national concerns, but rather to further the hidden agenda of some people. Our concern is that the nature of the protests may very likely not be peaceful and it will not only be unproductive but may have negative consequences on the north and our democracy as well.
“We weighed all the possibilities against the background of its dangerous consequences in countries like Libya and Yemen who embarked on such moves blindly. After candidly weighing the pros and cons, we arrived at the conclusion that the exercise is ill-informed, in bad taste, counterproductive, self-serving as well as an ill wind that will not blow anybody any good.
“Despite the lapses in governance in all aspects, especially in security, economy, and infrastructure, we wish to align with the patriotic position of the apex conglomerate of groups in the north, the CNG, that every issue can be discussed and resolved in a civilized manner and never by violence.
“We today, therefore, declare a complete pullout from participation in the organization and call on the protesters and all people of the north to disregard the calls,” he said.  Mustapha called on the government to as a matter of urgency, address all the observed lapses and misgovernance to avoid uprisings.

Tonto Dikeh, Regina Daniels, Wale Jana, & "More" Attends COZA For Thanksgiving
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

In celebration of 4 year anniversary of perfume brand Sapphire Scents, owned by Wale Jana, some of its brand influencers, family and friends trooped to CommonWealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA) for the company’s thanksgiving.

Brand ambassadors who attended the event include movie star Tonto Dikeh, actor and comedian – Williams Uchemba, ex BBNaija housemate Teddy A, and fiancee Bam Bam and actress Regina Daniels. Ceec who is also an ambassador of the brand, did not attend the event.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA was called out by Timi Dakolo’s wife Busola Dakolo, over alleged rape issues, amongst other women who also came out to share their personal experiences in June 2019.

Tonto who is also a humanitarian and someone who strongly preaches against rape, has now identified herself with COZA, thereby not practicing what she preaches. Fatoyinbo even prayed for them during the service.

This definitely did not go down well with some of her fans who have started disassociating themselves from her page already.

Tonto did not use her platform to speak against COZA pastor when the rape allegation was ongoing, probably due to her brand ambassador deal with his member Wale Jana. But in July, the mom of one personally led a protest to Apo High Court in Abuja, against one Idris Ebiloma who raped a 4 year old girl known as Khloe, urging that he be sentenced to life imprisonment. So what could this current event be telling us?

On her wall, she wrote:

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with Us..
May the world celebrate you as you have done Us…
Thanks to my fellow Ambassadors,we are simply amazing @williamsuchemba
@iamteddya @ceec_official…
Met two amazing women @bammybestowed and @regina.daniels,God bless you both…And welcome to the family REGINA

He is building his own houses and a hotel but has not done anything for the State" Senator Okorocha mocks Governor Ihedioha

Former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha has warned Governor Emeka Ihedioha and the PDP government he leads to stop further harassment of his former appointees, stating that Imo people have had enough of such harassment.

Senator Okorocha arrived Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport at exactly 3:45pm and was received by a mammoth crowd. He headed straight to the Uche Nwosu Campaign Organisation where he addressed the exciting crowd, stating that, Governor Ihedioha has failed to work because he knows that he never won the governorship election.
“The governor in just three months is building his own houses in Owerri and in his village. He is also building a hotel. But has not done anything for the State. They should work for the people of Imo State. Till today, they have not done one project. Their achievements in one hundred days would be harassing Imo people, taking people’s cars, beating my daughter and breaking into people’s houses”. he said.

He continued “For the eight years I was governor, I never harassed any Imo man or woman. The first thing they did was to pull down Akachi Tower. The hand of God. That is why the battle is no more ours but that of God. They broke into where my daughter was selling rice, bread and so on, and carried everything including cooked rice. They are hungry. They broke into my private Guest House where President Muhammadu Buhari stayed when he came on Campaign in 2015 and made away with all the valuables there,

He stated “The governor brought back somebody who was governor ten years ago and made him Chairman of his Sanitation Committee. Brought a woman who was Minister about eight years and made her Commissioner and someone who was Chief of Staff for eight years from 1999 to 2007 and made him Commissioner and so many of such people, all to detriment of the younger ones”.

The Senator continued “All the bad Politicians I retired in the State have all been brought back. And kidnapping, ritual killings, armed robbery missing of people have all come back. The Clean-Up Exercise I was doing with less than N200million, they are today using N2.8billion to do that. The government is in a hurry to steal because they know that they never won election.

According to him “The issue is that the governor is small and thinks very small. Otherwise a governor in Power should not be the one instigating trouble because anything could happen. And they should not take the silence of Imo people for granted. Harassment of Imo people and breaking into people’s houses without Court Order must stop. It is armed robbery. Infact let nobody harass any Citizen of the State again. Enough of this harassment.” he stated

Court Orders Takeover Of Donald Duke’s Ikoyi Property Over N537.3m Debt
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 08-21-2019, 09:34 PM - No Replies

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the takeover an Ikoyi, Lagos property owned by former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, over an alleged debt of N537,334,360.77.

The court made the takeover order in an August 8, 2019 ruling by Justice Chuka Obiozor, ordering the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON and the United Bank for Africa, UBA to take possession.

The order was pursuant to an ex parte application, marked, FHC/L/CS/1373/2019, taken before the judge by AMCON and UBA.

Listed as first to third defendants were Stonehedge Investment Limited, Mr Donald Duke and Mrs Owanari Bob-Manuel Duke, respectively.

The applicants had prayed the court for “an order of interim attachment, possession, and custody of the property being No. 3, Temple Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.”

According to them, the property was mortgaged by Duke “as collateral in securing the 1st respondent’s indebtedness to the applicants.”

The applicants also urged the court to grant them possession of the property “pending the institution and disposal of proceedings for recovery of debt against the respondent, pursuant to Section 49 of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Act 2010 (as amended).”

They prayed the court for an interim Mareva injunction to take possession of funds in the accounts of Duke and others in any bank “pending the institutional and disposal of proceedings for the recovery of a debt of N537,334,360.77 made up of the principal debt and interest against the respondents pursuant to Section 50 of AMCON Act 2010.”

The judge granted the prayers, in addition to an order restraining the respondents from “transacting, transferring, changing or howsoever dealing in any manner or interfering with the applicants’ possession” of the Ikoyi property.

The judge ordered AMCON and UBA to ensure service of substantive originating processes on the respondents within 20 days of the making of the order.

He adjourned the case until September 2, 2019, PUNCH reports.

Atiku’s petition is a mere waste of time - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to dismiss the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar and the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The electoral body made the submission in its final address at the PEPT on Wednesday August 21. INEC’s lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN) insisted that Atiku's petition was a mere waste of time as he and his party could not substantiate claims of the electoral commission having a server and transmitting results electronically.

Quote:Usman said: “This is a worthless petition. INEC did not abandon its pleadings. It only extracted salient evidence from their (petitioners) witnesses.
“It would have been a waste of the court’s time to call witnesses when the petitioners failed to prove anything and admitted the issues we advanced in our pleadings
“We urge the court to dismiss this petition, which was meant to test the water with two legs, and they are now falling.”

Juliet Ibrahim turned on her no-chill side as she dragged a TV Presenter, Miss Akuko Perming for asking her to go back to her ex-husband, Kwadwo Safo.

Sharing a collage of Akuko's photo and a featherless chicken, the Ghanaian actress slammed the TV presenter for asking her to go back to her ex-husband and stop waiting for Mr Right even when he has moved on with the lady he impregnated while they were married.

Maintaining that she is not a desperate woman that will lower her standards for anyone on earth, Juliet Ibrahim also took a swipe at TV Africa for tolerating such utterances from 'presenters who didn't research' before coming up on their show.

She wrote;

Quote:Miss Akuko Perming -
Not until I was sent this senseless video of yours posted on Tv Africa’s page I never knew of your existence.

It’s obvious everyone wants to trend using my name! Y’all Do anything for clout! Even ugly chickens feel they have a say in someone’s personal life!
Dead TV station with dead ass TV presenters looking for clout off Juliet Ibrahim as usual. If you think you know better about marriages why the F aren’t you married yet zombie?
You say I should go back to my ex-husband and stop waiting for Mr Right, even after all I went through with him and how he’s moved on with the lady he impregnated while we were married?
Stupid clown, I am not a desperate woman who’ll lower her standards for anyone on this earth because I deserve better and I will never ever SETTLE!
Why don’t you go to him and be a mistress to his new wife?
Since it’s obvious you have no self value and self worth DumbAss!! Until you have walked in someone’s shoes don’t open your stupid toilet hole to pour out stink shit! Clown, with your nasty brown teeth and cheap hair and eyelashes, don’t you dare come at me ever again in your miserable life. You chose the wrong day, wrong time and wrong person to talk about on your dead ass stupid senseless show! And it’s a shame on TV africa for tolerating such utterances when their so-called presenters can’t even do research before blabbing bullshit about people they talk about!
If you want to discuss me and my former marriage on your station why not spend “ 50 cedis “ ONLY to buy MY BOOK; read and understand what happened before I left my marriage and my ex boyfriend? How hard is it to practice Professional journalism in Ghana?
If anyone cares to speak or say anything about me henceforth go and buy @atoasttolifebook after you done reading you have the freedom to talk or invite me for interviews.

South-East Governors Write Buhari: Ban Herders With No Cattle & Cattle By Foot
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-21-2019, 02:39 PM - No Replies

Governors in South East, Nigeria, have written to President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to ban the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the region, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the governors are also asking the President to delay the closure of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and act against insecurity instead.

Igbere TV had reported that the Federal Government, last week, said it was shutting down the Enugu airport for “major repairs” on the “faulty” runway.

This is even as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced that it was degrading the airport for international operations owing to its “runway length”.

But in the letter made available to Igbere TV on Wednesday, the governors are asking the President to rather approve its earlier decision banning herders who have no cattle, as well as the movement of cattle by foot in the South East.

The move is coming three days after Senator Ike Ekweremadu, from the region, was attacked in Germany, by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to the governors, they decided to make the letter public to assuage public allegations that they were not doing enough to check growing insecurity in the region.

Recall that the IPOB had accused the South East governors and other top political leaders in the region of sell out, saying they have never acted on insecurity in the zone.

“We plead with Mr. President that we publish this letter to assuage our people’s feelings who erroneously think that no efforts are being made by the leaders of the South East to tackle insecurity and economic challenges facing the zone and to let them know that her leaders before now have been working very hard without making noise as issues of security must not be discussed in the public,” the letter partly read.

The letter was signed by Mr. David Umahi, Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, on behalf of other governors in the region.

Tackling domestic flight delays, cancellations

Flight delays on domestic routes have continued to make air travelers uneasy. In 2018, 36, 350 flights were either delayed or cancelled, while figures for the first quarter of this year stood at 7, 926. Industry experts are worried that if this trend continues unchecked, the result may be unpalatable for both passengers and airlines, writes KELVIN OSA OKUNBOR.

Flight schedule punctuality is one of the major attractions to air transportation. It is for this reason that airlines as players in the transport value chain schedule their flights to enable passengers get to their destinations on time.

Effective time management, experts said, accounts for massive patronage of airlines and airports in the business of moving people and goods from one location to another.
According to experts, for airlines and airports to play their strategic roles as catalysts for economic development, regulators and operators must adopt measures  to  reduce  the upsurge in flight delays and cancellations.

One of the ways to achieve this, they said, is for the government to fix inadequate airports and terminal facilities. Part of the facilities include expansion of screening points at airports and installation of air field lighting systems to enable airlines 24-hour flight. Sadly, many airports have single runway and screening points to attend to airlines scheduled to take off at the same time.
In the last three years, the nation’s economy has lost several billions of naira to incessant  flight delays and cancellations by both domestic and international airlines.

Experts are worried that the increasing rate of both delayed and cancelled flights is creating unease in the sector as passengers continue to inundate the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) with complaints.

NCAA statistics

Fact sheet from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)  has shown that an average of three out of every four flights were  delayed in 2017. Its Director-General, Captain Muktar Usman said the authority was getting worried over the trend.
According to the regulator, out of  48,319  flights operated by eight airlines, 30,214 were late, while 872 were cancelled. The breakdown indicated that Aero Contractors  recorded 66.5 per cent delay rate; Arik Air, 61.8 per cent; Azman Air, 66.4 per cent; Dana Air  64.2 per cent; Med-View Airlines Plc 71 per cent; Overland 70.1 per cent; First Nation 35.8 per cent; and Air Peace 58.2 per cent.
In 2018, the aviation regulator reported that 36,350 domestic  flights were delays. A breakdown of 2018 figure ranked Air Peace as first, having recorded 14, 069 flights  delayed; 137 cancelled flights while it  operated 22, 055 flights.
Statistics from the apex aviation regulatory body showed that 59,818 flights were operated by nine airlines in the period under review.
According to the document, 544 flights were cancelled for various reasons by the airlines. The NCAA listed airlines to include : Max Air, Dana Air, First Nation, Overland, Arik, Azman , Aero Contractors, Air Peace and Medview.

Arik Air had 8,073 delayed flights and 152 cancellations out of its scheduled 15,205 flight operations.
Dana Air on the other hand, operated 5,944 flights with 3,915 cases of delayed flights and 67 cancellations.
Azman Air recorded 3,242 and 49 delayed and cancelled flights respectively, out of the 4,944 flights operated by the airline in the period under review.
Also, Aero Contractors operated 4,361 flights with 2,459 delays and 70 cancellations; while Overland had 601 flights with 1,960 delayed and 29 cancellations; and Medview, 2058 flights with 1,256 delayed and 42 cancellations.
Max Air recorded 1,151 delays and five cancellations, out of the 2,205 flights operated by the airline.
Similarly, FirstNation Airways, whose licence has been suspended by the NCAA, recorded 137 delayed flights and three cancellations, out of 445 flights operated within the period under review.

In the first three months of this year, the NCAA said domestic carriers have recorded 7,926 cases of delayed flights. This represents more than 50 per cent of the flights within the period under review. Air Peace, which  operated  5,768 flights, topped the delayed flight chart with 3,058 and 66 cancellations, while Arik Air followed with 1,376 delayed flights, 32 cancellations out of its 3,001 flight operations.
Aero operated 1,535 flights with 951 delayed and 31 cancelled while Azman Air recorded 637 delays and eight cancellations out of the 1,301 flights operated. Also, Dana Air operated 919 flights with 587 delays and 25 cancellations; Overland, 612 flights with 421 delays and six cancellations. The rest are Max Air, which operated 1,416 flights with 810 delays and four cancellations as well as Medview, which operated 183 flights with 112 delayed and nine cancelled.
However, the delays, according to the airlines, were due to operational reasons bordering on scarcity of aviation fuel as well as adverse weather conditions, leading to low visibility at most of the airports.

Experts’ views

Aviation security expert, Group Captain John Ojikutu (rtd) said  there are more factors to flight delays, and “they are generally beyond the controls of airlines”.
They include: passenger access control, passenger and carry-on-baggage check-point screening, hold baggage screening and sorting, number of boarding gates and the boarding screening.
“All these are not within the control of the airlines as they often delay passenger facilitation and flight departure time, especially at Single Terminal Airport, with a single passenger screening, check points and single boarding gate.
“For instance,  at Lagos Airports Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2) and General Aviation Terminal (GAT) , where there are two domestic terminals:, there is only one screening point and one boarding gate at the GAT, where Air Peace and Arik with more flights operate from, whereas, the MM2, most times, has about two passenger screening check points and about six boarding gate.

“What the stakeholders and the NCAA should consider more to assist flight operation, are  the efficiency of passenger checkpoint screening facilitation process and the screening machines. There is a need to ensure that there are sufficient skilled manpower at these screening points and that there is regular power supply to the screening machines such that deficiency or breakdown of manpower or machine does not result to manual screening in aviation security defence layer.”

Ojikutu added that beyond reading riot act to the airlines, the NCAA also needed to look inwards and intensify its regulatory activities, including calling the airport managers to order.

Operators’  perspective

Umbrella body of domestic carriers, Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), said the government should fix inadequate terminal facilities to enable airlines operate 24 hours. Its chairman, Captain Nogie Meggison said the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has  a huge role to play in this respect.
A few years ago , Meggison said domestic airlines may be losing as much as N20 billion annually to flight cancellations.

Also speaking, Air Peace Chairman, Mr Allen Onyema said poor airport infrastructure also contributes to flight delays as over 1000 passengers sometimes have to use one security screening point.

Dana Air’s Accountable Manager,  Obi Mbanuzuo said flight delays are due to inadequate infrastructure . ” We go through day to day operational challenges . In some airports the landing facilities are not there for 24 hours . That is why airlines either cancel or delay flights.

Regulator’s position

NCAA spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, said the agency has considered it top priority to address passengers’ complaints and monitors activities of air service providers to mitigate complaints such as flight delays and cancellations.

According to NCAA’s regulation on passengers rights, passengers can request compensation for flight cancellation and delays for  reasons other than technical, weather conditions, air traffic control restrictions, security risks and industrial disputes.

He explained that flights could be delayed or cancelled because of bad weather or engine failure, but noted that the regulatory authority does not support flight delays or cancellations without any genuine reasons, especially natural occurrences that can’t be controlled.
According to an expert, who declined to be named,  in other airports around the world, the standard time for processing a passenger through the checkpoint screening is about 15/20 seconds. That is three or four passenger per minute or 180 to 240 passengers per hour.
”Around here, it is less  seamless and for many reasons. While screening bottleneck is the main constraint at Air Peace’s General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Lagos, there are other factors ranging from the chain reaction of such morning delays, low capacity to execute schedule, aviation fuel shortage and technical issues, among others coming under “operational issues” often given as excuses for flight delays.

“Another cause of delay is poor infrastructure at the airports. Ideally, it should take not more than 30 seconds to screen a passenger, but in Nigeria it can take up to two minutes with the screening officials more interested in extortion than doing their job. This poses a problem for the airlines. For example, Air Peace and Arik Air face a lot of delays to process passengers at the GAT, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos because there is only one functional X-ray machine at any point in time and hundreds of passengers going to different destinations during the morning rush hours must pass through one functional X-ray machine at each of the terminals at the GAT.
“I urge FAAN to provide adequate number of security equipment and  personnel to effectively man these machines in order to reduce the delay caused by security screening at the airports. “

Retired pilot and former Managing Director of the defunct Virgin Nigeria, Capt. Dapo Olumide,  said there are several issues that cause airlines’ failure in Nigeria and one of them is the poor utilisation of aircraft.

IATA’s position

International Air Transport Association (IATA) has urged Nigerian government to fix poor infrastructure to enhance aviation business .
Its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alexandre De Juniac said investment in improving airport infrastructure would go a long way to assist airlines and ensure seamless operations.

He said: “Infrastructure plays a key and important role in the services airlines provide to their passengers. The terminal facilities should provide passengers with good experience.”

Other complaints

Meanwhile, airlines  and passengers have expressed their disenchantment over aircraft’s inability to land at the second runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) after 6:30 pm.

According to them, congestion on the first runway of the airport due to traffic from foreign airlines from 6:30 pm, causes delays both for arriving flights and flights primed to take off.

A group of Aviators  recently called on the regulatory agencies to consider ways of reducing delays and flights’ cancellations.
The group said it was getting worried over the spate of  multiple flight diversions due to  bad weather and aerodrome closure during sunset. This, according to him,  resulted from inadequate or non-functional ground navigational equipment such as ground-to-air radar, Instrument Landing System, VHF Omni directional Range, among others.

Its spokesman , Ben Victor,   decried the increasing rate of flight cancellations or delays without compensating passengers and noted that recent cases in Kano, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Owerri, Benin, Asaba, Ilorin and Enugu airports, among others, are worrisome.
The  organisation, therefore, urged the regulatory agencies, such as FAAN, NCAA and Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), to enforce sanctions on erring airlines so as to bring sanity to the sector.

He said: “Flight delays have become regular narratives at the local airports across the country without explanations to passengers who might have incurred financial lose or undergone emotional stress.

“ A major  operator has become the major culprit as they flagrantly delay or cancel flight schedules. The truth should be told, if airlines are made to compensate passengers for flight delays or cancellation, they will sit up.
“At the moment, most air passengers hold the view that they are being taken for granted. Who’s at fault? The regulatory agencies need to wake up. Today’s problem will continue to expand if not addressed.”

The association also  called on the regulatory bodies to monitor the functionality of equipment at the airports, especially during night flights. It also tasked the regulatory bodies to ensure that basic infrastructure facilities in the airports are functioning.
“The Nigerian aviation industry has been taken 40 years behind compared with its counterparts in other climes. Passengers blame airlines for operational anomalies, but the regulatory authorities also have their blames,” he said.
The group, however, called on regulatory agencies to wake up to its responsibilities. “Only four airports in Nigeria have partially functional navigational ground equipment. They are Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano. The rest airports are Visual Flight Rules airports and that is why you cannot land in some airports at sun set,” the organisation stated.

Choosing the Right Squeegees for Your Screen Printing Jobs
User Avatar Forum: News

Choosing the Flat Screen Printing Machine may seem easier on paper. However, in reality, it can be quite challenging. You need to have the right information about the task, future growth expectation, the area of use, job demands and more. Also important is having an idea of the latest trends, consumer expert reviews, and setting a budget. I mean, who wants to spend so much on an unreliable machine? It may be too small, too large, breaks down often, or doesn’t produce high-quality prints. You will find a broad range of items in the market. And as you are probably aware, many vendors and manufacturers will exaggerate the facts in order to make a sell.
Shape
The tip of the squeegee blade comes in several shapes:
Square – or straight-edge – squeegee blades are cut flat across the bottom. These are the most common types of squeegee blades and are used for more general screen printing jobs.
Round – or ball-nose – squeegees are used when printers need a heavier deposit of ink, such as when printing on heavier substrates or when printing with specialty inks.
Beveled squeegees feature an angle on one or both sides of the blade. Beveled blades are most often used when printing on substrates that are curved or uneven.
Rigidity
Squeegee ridigity is measured by durometer, and the higher the durometer, the harder the blade. Harder squeegee blades sheer the ink more completely, while softer squeegees leave behind a heavier ink deposit.
Squeegees in the 50 to 60 durometer range are considered soft squeegees. They’re used to leave heavy ink deposits when printing on heavy substrates, controlling fibrillation or printing with specialty inks.
The most commonly used squeegees are 70 durometer. These squeegees are considered to have a medium hardness and are used for most general screen printing jobs..
Hard or ultra-hard squeegees, ranging from 80 to 90 durometer, are used to leave a lighter ink deposit. They are ideal when printing with high mesh count screens, when printing fine detail or in printing four-color process jobs.
There also are composite squeegee blades that have layers of different durometers. The printing edge is a lower durometer that molds smoothly along the screen, and a higher durometer layer that offers strenght to prevent the squeegee from bending and losing its shape.
Materials
Squeegees can be made from natural rubber, neoprene or polyurethane.
Squeegees traditionally were made from natural rubber. Rubber blades are less expensive than other squeegees, but they have fallen out of favor because they absorb solvents and break down quickly.
Neoprene blades are more expensive than rubber but cheaper than polyurethane blades. Neoprene is a popular squeegee choice because they resist breakdown better than rubber blades.
Polyurethane squeegee blades are the most expensive option, but they are also the most durable. Polyurethane blades are usually used for jobs that will take an extended period of time and printing with automatic or semiautomatic presses.

Preparing Nigeria for Africa’s $75b eCommerce revolution
User Avatar Forum: Market Place

Africa is on the rise. From entertainment to agriculture, Africa is boldly expressing its identity and productivity in a brave new world. But the real boom, indeed the next revolution on the continent, is without a doubt, e-commerce.
Africa’s e-commerce quotient is daily being fuelled by a number of factors.

There is a changing lifestyle among Africans that is witnessing a growing middle class. This growth has thrown up young men and women who can spend between $4 and $20 a day.
According to data from the African Development Bank (AfDB), this group is expected to grow to about 40 per cent by 2060, which translates to over one billion people. This will spell a boom for e-commerce going forward.

The growth in Africa’s mobile market coupled with the growing deployment of broadband infrastructure and increase assimilation of emerging advances in technologies including artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, Augmented Reality (AR) among others are sure indices that e-commerce will boom across the continent sooner than later.

As far back as 2012, consumption spending in Africa stood at over $1 trillion from $364 billion in 2000. That’s an impressive jump. And if the Internet penetration factor, which is in on the rise with a good 50 per cent of the continent expected to have access to the Internet by 2025, one can imagine the impact of this on online shopping.
McKinsey report predicted that online shopping could account for 10 per cent of aggregate retail sales. This works out to $75 billion a year of total retail spend. This figure is expected to shoot up in the coming years.

This is why the focus is shifting to Africa. E-commerce pundits are looking to Africa to deliver the next revolution in wealth creation through a burst of e-commerce activities. And Nigeria is tipped to lead the African e-commerce chart. Indeed, e-commerce is an area that Nigerians have only recently started exploring. As such, people are also gradually learning about the technicalities involved.

Instructively, Nigeria pioneered e-commerce in Africa through Buyright Africa Dotcom, a baby of digital entrepreneur, Leo Stan Ekeh. Buyright Africa was Africa’s genuine online outpost birthed to deliver online services to a continent-wide audience starting from Nigeria. By 2012 when Buyright Africa was founded, it was obvious it came ahead of its time. Poor infrastructure, poor debit (credit) card transaction culture and low internet penetration frustrated the vision of its founder, who is also the Chairman of Zinox Group.

But Ekeh bided his time. Already, he had sowed the seed and in no time, the idea was given life again by his son, Prince Nnamdi Ekeh, who founded Yudala, a truly composite online-offline e-commerce platform. Though short-lived, Buyright Africa is historically the forerunner of all modern-day e-commerce companies in Africa.

The Zinox Group later acquired another truly indigenous e-commerce company, Konga, to add to its growing conglomerate. Konga acquisition and its merger with Yudala, therefore, gave rise to the biggest truly African e-commerce giant. Konga has already set sight on over-running the competition on the continent. Konga’s ambition of ruling Africa is helped by the unwillingness of e-commerce players in South Africa to re-invest in their businesses.

A 2019 survey of online retail in South Africa conducted by research group, WorldWide Worx, showed that South Africa online retail shop demonstrated a manifest unwillingness to re-invest to expand the business. Only one in five companies surveyed invested more than 20 per cent of their online turnover back into their business. Half invested less than 10 pe rcent. This is essentially why e-commerce is not enjoying astronomical growth in South Africa. This leaves the market open for Nigeria’s Konga to take the shine.

The other e-commerce giant, Jumia, though doing well, however, appears more like a foreign company. Jumia founded by two French businessmen has its headquarters in Germany and Dubai. While the company runs the e-commerce business across Africa with operations in Kenya, Morocco, and Egypt, its incorporation in Germany, to pundits made it look more like a foreign company in Africa.

In a recent interview on CNBC, Jumia co-CEO, Sacha Poignonnec, tried to convince his interviewers that Jumia is an African company, but his explanations fell short of answering the question of why Jumia incorporated in Germany, has its head offices outside Africa, and its major executives’ non-Africans.

While the battle for the African market gets intensified, today, aside Konga and Jumia, there are more players in the Nigerian space including Payporte, Vconnect, Kara, Fashpa, Gloo.ng, Obeezi and Wakanow, and a host of others. They have collectively pushed the frontiers for Internet businesses in the country, getting over 500,000 online orders every 24 hours in Nigeria.

E-Commerce has become a thriving global industry. A report by the Oxford Business Group revealed that retail sales hit a whopping $22 billion globally in 2016, with online shopping accounting for a major part of this outlay.

Africa is regarded as the next big thing to happen in e-commerce, and Nigeria is at the cusp of this expected wealth boom. With a population of about 200 million and currently Africa’s largest economy, the prospects are colorful for e-commerce.
Experts have predicted that none of the foreign e-commerce players would sizzle the African market. Some have projected Konga to play a leading role in positioning e-commerce on the continent. They cite Konga’s indigenous ownership, a truly African company, its innovativeness, tradition of delivering only original products, prompt delivery culture, offline presence in every neighbourhood, strong capital base, seamless operational efficiency and sound backroom technical integrity as reasons why Konga has the clear capacity to dominate the continental market, which enjoys a forecast of $29 billion in revenues by 2022, according to research firm, Statistica.

Africa waits for Konga. But even Africa is not a good hunting ground for ICTpreneurs. This is the only continent in the world where the top 10 billionaires list is not dominated by digital entrepreneurs. Africa, especially Nigeria, is a difficult place to do business. In the words of telecoms expert, Kehinde Aluko, if the promoters of Konga can succeed in this difficult clime with other companies within the conglomerate, Africa is lucky to have a company owned and run by Africans leading the charge in the soon-to-explode e-commerce market.

Edward Heaton, an expert on African e-commerce placed Konga as the best-poised company to create the next Jeff Bezos out of the continent.

Herders, Farmers Clash In Araro, Oyo Community. Many Injured
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 08-21-2019, 10:16 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Baale of Araro in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mustapha Ibrahim, on Monday, narrated how seven farmers were allegedly cut with machetes in the past few months by suspected herders.

He said the herders also invaded and destroyed farmlands over the weekend.

The police confirmed the attacks, which it called skirmishes, but said no one was injured.
Araro, a border town between Oyo and Ogun states, has inhabitants who are mainly farmers.
Mr Ibrahim said his people have abandoned their only means of livelihood out fear of attack by the herders.
He called on the state governor, Seyi Makinde, to intervene.

Mr Ibrahim said the injured, who were allegedly cut by the herders, were rescued from the bush, ”soaked in blood before they were taken to medical facilities by policemen from Omi Adio, police station for medical attention”.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the state, Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed ”that there had been incessant skirmishes between the farmers and Fulani herdsmen in the area”, said nobody was cut.
He said, “When the DPO got there, there was no case of anybody being macheted. They said some herdsmen were eating their crops, and one of the rams, not even cow was brought to the station. And it’s there. All I can say is that investigation is ongoing and we will get you informed at the end.”

‘Not true’

However, the traditional ruler disagreed with the police and invited some of the alleged victims of the attack to his palace to meet with reporters.
He said about seven people sustained injuries from machete cuts.
One of the victims, Akande Owoyele, said he was cut on his head alongside seven of his farm workers two months ago. He accused the herdsmen of destroying farm crops.

“I told my boys working in the farm, not to challenge or fight with the herdsmen each time they sight them destroying my crops, but instead they should inform the Baale, and he will know the step to take immediately. We are peace-loving people.
“One day, the herdsmen again stormed my farm with their cows. And my boys had to call me, and I called their leader, Babangida, to call his people to order. He told me that they are not his people, so I told my boys to drive them out of my farm and seize their cutlass and some of their weapons, which I took to the police station as evidence.

“The next day, they came and waylaid my boys with dangerous weapons. They were macheted and had deep cuts. They even carried one of them off with ‘okada’ and threatened to cut off his head into the stream before he was rescued.

“We had to mobilise people into the bush to rescue the injured workers and rushed them to hospital. Babangida was arrested by the police, even the matter was transferred to Iyaganku police station. The following day, I was on my farm, when I saw herds of cows again eating up my crops. Immediately, I called the police station, the police said we should arrest and bring one of the straying cows to the station. So, we took one of the cows, and on our way to the police station, the herdsmen waylaid and attacked and inflicted deep machete cut on my head,” he said.
The traditional ruler noted that since the attacks started last year November, ”the herdsmen have not ceased from attacking farmers and destroying farm crops”.

“We don’t want bloodshed and crisis in our community, that why we are begging our people to exercise patience and restraint in the face of provocation,” he said. ”Our people are farmers and the lands they are using to farm are inherited from their forefathers.”
Victims

Some of the victims were reportedly treated at Emiloju Hospital, while others were admitted at Precious Hospital, both at Omi Adio, Ibadan.
A doctor, Faleye Jacob, of the Emiloju Hospital confirmed that two of the victims, Ifasesin Salako and Olabode Owoleye, were brought to his hospital in critical condition with severe machete cuts. They were placed on admission for observation and treatment, he added.

Also, at Precious Hospital, another doctor, Kayode Ayoola, confirmed that one of the victims, Akande Owoyele, was brought in a coma with machete deep cuts in the head and injuries.

#Revolutionnow Protest: Court Orders FG, DSS To Explain Sowore’s Detention

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of police toexplain why Omoyele Sowore and all other persons arrested and detained in connection with the peaceful protest held on August 5, 2019 should not be unconditionally released.

The court also ordered the DSS and the IGP to appear before it on the next adjourned date of September 4, 2019.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo made the order while ruling on an exparte application brought by a Lagos lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje in a suit challenging the FG, DSS, IGP and the AGF on his right to peaceful protest, assembly and association.

Ogungbeje, who filed the suit on behalf of himself and others who participated in the #Revolutionnow protest asked the court to also declare as unconstitutional and illegal, the police clampdown of the protesters and the arrest of Sowore by the DSS.

He also asked the court to make an order for the immediate and unconditional release of those arrested and detained.

But instead of ordering the release of those detained, justice Oweibo granted Ogungbeje leave to serve the DSS and the IGP so he could hear from them on the next adjourned date especially on why Sowore and others should not be immediately released.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 21ST AUGUST

IT’S ABOUT YOUR LOVE FOR HIM

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead (2 Corinthians 5:14).

The Apostle Paul, in our opening verse, wasn’t talking about Christ’s love for us, but our love for Him, and how that love compels us to stand in, and with the truth of the Gospel—no matter the opposition. The love Paul had for Christ was the drive behind his overwhelming passion to preach, and defend the truth of the Gospel.

Read Galatians 2:11-21 NKJV and see how Paul defended the truth of the Gospel, even to Peter. He said, “Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy…” (Read the entire reference up to the 21st verse).

In the 20th verse, he submitted, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (NKJV). What a conviction! It’s about your love for Him!

That love must be the controlling thought, the guiding principle of your life. It shouldn’t matter how intense or fierce the opposition is; you must, without hesitation, stand in defence of the Gospel of Christ!
How much do you love Him? If in your heart, you think your love for Him isn’t strong enough, what you need to do is simple: open your heart to Him in prayer, and tell Him, “Lord Jesus, I love you; I really do, with all my heart, and forever, this is what I want to do—loving you and doing your Word.” As you make that confession of your love to Him, you’ll experience a great motivation, and your passion for the Gospel will be increased.

Your love for Jesus Christ means more to God than anything you could ever give Him. So, love Him with all your heart, and prove it in keeping His Word. Hallelujah! (See John 14:15 & 21).

CONFESSION

Lord, my love for you is the great motivational force behind my overwhelming passion for the Gospel. I’m compelled by that love to preach the Gospel, and propagate it with speed and urgency, till the whole world knows of your love in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Keto Direct The exciting thing is that what appears to be the problem is when the man or woman isn't always weight-reduction plan anymore, because that is once they advantage again all of the weight. consequently, it's far logical to finish that obtaining off the weight loss plan makes a person advantage again the weight that became lost. that is the number one weight-reduction plan delusion: if a person isn't on a weight loss program they will either advantage weight or not be able to lose weight. It took me 12 years to discern out that this idea is not proper in any respect. now not being on a weight-reduction plan is not what makes a person benefit weight. alternatively, being on a food regimen in the first region is what makes a person benefit weight. http://www.theguidestore.com/keto-direct-australia/

Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu Plotted To Topple Buhari — SSS

The State Security Services (SSS) has said that the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore in his plot to topple the government the held series of meetings with members of a proscribed terrorist organisation, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) with a view to mobilising strong forces to realise his agenda at changing the government,Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the SSS also challenged the Federal High Court order, allowing it to detain Omoyele Sowore, Convener, #RevolutionNow protests, for 45 days against its request of 90 days pending investigation.

The SSS argued that its investigation so far revealed that “RevolutionNow” was allegedly a smokescreen for the actual intention of Mr Sowore and his allies “to topple the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The DSS said it was engaged in a painstaking investigation of activities of Mr Sowore, the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the last presidential election, in view of the quantum of evidence so far gathered and may return to court to seek an extension of the 45 days granted by the Abuja-based court to detain him.

The security agency made this known in a fresh document it filed at the Federal High Court on Monday in response to an application by Mr Sowore.

In the counter-affidavit deposed to by Godwin Agbadua, an official of the SSS, it was stated that Mr Sowore was arrested on reasonable suspicion of having committed a capital offence, upon his alleged involvement in terrorists’ activities.

“The respondent/applicant (Sowore) planned to violently change the government through the hashtag RevolutionNow.

“The respondent/appllcant hid under the cover of call for mass protest with the hashtag RevolutionNow to mislead unsuspecting and innocent members of the public into joining him to topple the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

“In his plot to topple the government the respondent/applicant held series of meetings with members at a prescribed terrorist organisation, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) with a view to mobilising strong forces to realise his agenda at changing the government

“The respondent formed an alliance with a fugitive, Nnamdi Kanu, a self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed terrorists group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to launch series of attacks on Nigeria with a view to violently removing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“After series of closed-door meetings between the duo in the United States of America, they addressed a press conference wherein they both stated their resolve to form alliance against the Nigerian government. The duo stated that they have a well-planned out strategy to realize their objective, which is toppling the government.

“The applicant/respondent is investigating the activities of the respondent /applicant as it relates to a terrorist organisation, IPOB. The facts show a conjecture between the respondent/applicant and IPOB activities.

“There is the need for the applicant/respondent to investigate such reasonable suspicion of the relationship between the respondent/applicant and IPOB.

“The respondent held series of meetings with some foreign collaborators outside Nigeria including Dubai where millions of dollars were given to him to sponsor a widespread attack on Nigeria with a view to violently removing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and freeing Ibrahim El-Zakzaky (Sheikh).

“In furtherance to the plans to violently free El-Zakzaky from lawful custody. the respondent held several meetings with a proscribed terrorists organisation. Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) where they strategized on how to carry out attacks to force the government to free Elzakzaky.

“The respondent stated in one of his videos that Shiite members, who are members of the proscribed terrorists group, IMN were going to join forces with him in bringing down the government. The statement and the meetings of the respondent/applicant raises issue of grave suspicion of supporting a proscribed terrorists’ organisation, IMN.

“The suspicions require diligent investigation by the applicant/respondent. The planned action constitutes a threat of violence to intimidate or cause panic in members of the public as a means of affecting political conduct

“The investigation is still ongoing. Upon the completion of investigation, the case file will be forwarded to the office of the Attorney General of the Federation for advice and possible prosecution,” SSS alleged.

How to wear a hat when wearing a wig in summer?
User Avatar Forum: Market Place

Do you wish you could wear a beautiful wig and hat and go out with confidence? But often people will tell us, "your hat is nice, but you'd better not wear it with a wig.""What?"Is this something that you're not happy about, and you give up on wearing a wig with a hat?No, no, no, don't do that. Today we're going to show you how to put those two things together and get you going.

1. Buy the right hat.
Most hats are made of fabric, and when worn with a wig, it warms your head.If you want your head to stay cool and breathable, you can choose a hat made of lightweight materials. You can choose a wide-brimmed straw hat.
2.Don't wear a hat on your wig.
Pressing your hat over your wig is not a good way to keep it intact. When you adjust your hat, the wig moves.Gently place the hat over the wig, making sure it is in place and does not move. You can also use hairpins to fix the hat on your head.
3. Use anti-frizz cleaning fluid.
This essence will keep your hair soft and straight while wearing a hat, ensuring you have a beautiful hairstyle.
4. Secure your wig.
You can use clips, hair clips, rubber bands, fake hair gel or whatever you need to hold the wig in a comfortable position. You don't want your wig to get tangled up with the swing of your hat.
Summer is a season to show people's beauty to the fullest. If you can use a little patience to wear wigs and hats, you can also become the most beautiful girl at this moment.Good bye!

How to cut lace for a wig
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Ivy Wang - 08-21-2019, 03:41 AM - No Replies

For someone new to wigs, they might think, what's the point of cutting the lace off the front if you have to cut the front? That's because people have different hairlines, and some people like to run their hair through lace.

So how to lace the front lace wig?Is there a quick and easy way?Can I look as natural as possible? If you do have these questions, try these tips.

Step:
1. Get a pair of pink scissors, which you can buy from a fabric store, or you can buy a pair of textured scissors when you're cutting your hair. Both scissors have serrated edges, and serrated edges are key to making your hairline look natural and realistic.Zigzag shapes help further blend lines visually.
2. Put the wig on the model's head and put the hairpin back.If you don't have a mannequin, put a wig on your head, tie it up, and hang it down so it can be cut off.
3. Take your pink scissors and cut the lace close to the hairline. If you are too nervous and cut the wrong way, you can cut the lace away from the hairline. For the lace in the middle of your forehead, cut it short to make it look more natural.
4. Pull out any hair that might fall out of the lace mesh. Now you can put on your wig.In addition, foundation helps blend colors similar to skin.Remember, don't apply too much foundation or it will get stuck in the holes in the lace mesh.

  How to maintain synthetic wigs?
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Ivy Wang - 08-21-2019, 03:41 AM - No Replies

Nowadays, more and more people wear wigs, but not all of them know how to maintain wigs.Today, we're going to teach you what you can do to maintain a wig.

Things to do:
1.Be sure to maintain your synthetic wigs with specially designed hair products.
2.Be sure to comb your wig from top to bottom.Synthetic wigs are made of plastic. It's best to start at the top of the wig, brush it a few inches at a time, then comb it down gradually.
3. When buying a wig for the first time, be sure to choose the right color according to the sample. The only advantage of wearing a wig is that you can easily get the color you want without causing chemical damage to your hair.
Things not to do:
1. Don't use regular human shampoos, conditioners, and gels on your wigs, as they can build up on your wigs, shorten lifespan, and blunt hair fibers.

Soldiers helped me escape the day police officers arrested me- kidnap suspect, Wadume, confesses (video)

Hamisu Wadume, the notorius kidnap kingpin, has revealed how soldiers in Benue state rescued him when he was arrested by police officers on August 6th.

Speaking in Hausa, Wadume who was arrested in Kano yesterday August 19th, said

Quote:“I am Hamisu Bala also known as Wadume. The police came to Ibi and arrested me. After arresting me, they were taking away when soldiers went after them and opened fire and some policemen were killed. From there the soldiers took me to their headquarters and cut off the handcuffs on my hands and I ran away''

Wadume's confession corroborates the statement released by the Nigeria Police Force on August 7th in which it accused the soldiers of killing the policemen that effected the arrest of Wadume.  Three of the detectives attached to the special anti-kidnap squad of the Inspector General of Police and a civilian were killed when soldiers opened fire on them.

The Nigerian Army denied the allegation, claiming its officers mistook the police officers as kidnappers.

An armed man has been shot dead by police after he hijacked a bus and took 37 passengers hostage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The masked man, believed to have petrol with him was threatening to burn the bus from the inside after he hijacked it on the Rio–Niterói Bridge in the Brazilian city.

Local media reports that police surrounded the vehicle and tried to negotiate with the hijacker.

Brazilian security forces shot the hijacker dead, bringing the incident to a close.

None of the hostages was harmed during the four-hour hijacking, Rio de Janeiro Governor Wilson Witschel told reporters at the scene. He took to Twitter to congratulate the police for an "exemplary performance" but said he regretted the death of the hijacker.

A passenger claimed the hijacker had been armed with a pistol and a knife, and never explained the reasons for his actions. Police told reporters the incident appeared to be "premeditated".

The incident began at 5.30am local time, reports say. The bridge is currently closed in both directions.

Earlier, while the hijacker still held the passengers hostage, Sheila Sena of the Federal Highway Police told globo.com: "We have a man who has identified himself as a military policeman. He is threatening to throw gas on the bus, putting passengers in danger.

"We are in negotiations with him to release more hostages, we do not know what his real purpose is."

The bridge that connects state capital Rio with the city of Niteroi across the bay is a major commuter thoroughfare, and the hijacking during the morning rush hour caused massive traffic jams on the bridge.
