Seun Egbegbe Has Now Spent Over 30 Months In Jail
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 09-03-2019, 10:05 AM - No Replies

Nollywood film-maker and producer, Olajide Kareem, aka Seun Egbegbe, has spent over 30 months (two years and six months) in prison after he failed to meet the N5m bail granted him by the Federal High Court in Lagos. He was incarcerated on February 10, 2017.

The 43-year-old had been arrested for allegedly obtaining money by false pretences from no fewer than 40 bureau de change operators in different parts of Lagos from 2015 to 2017.

Egbegbe allegedly swindled the BDC operators out of the money by claiming that he had naira to change into foreign currencies and vice versa.

The erstwhile Lagos socialite had been arraigned by the police for a series of fraud involving N39,098,100, $90,000 and £12,550.

Egbegbe and one Oyekan Ayomide were first arraigned on February 10, 2017, before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, on 36 counts bordering on advance fee fraud.

The charge sheet was subsequently amended twice, with the counts eventually increased to 40 and three other defendants – Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf and Muyideen Shoyombo – added.

The prosecuting counsel for the police, Innocent Anyigor, said Egbegbe and the other defendants acted contrary to Section 8 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006 and were liable to be punished under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

They pleaded not guilty.

On February 24, 2017 Justice Oguntoyinbo granted each of them N5m bail with two sureties in like sum.

The judge said one of the sureties must be a civil servant on at least Level 16 and must own a landed property in Lagos State.
The surety, the court said, must deposit the Certificate of Occupancy of the landed property in the custody of the court.

Both sureties were to swear to affidavit of means, while their addresses were to be verified by the court registrar.

Oguntoyinbo ordered them to be remanded in prison until they meet the bail conditions.

Over 30 months after, Egbegbe has remained in the Ikoyi Prison, as he has been unable to perfect his bail conditions.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER.

WITH HIM YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts (Zechariah 4:6).

True success in life is primarily dependent on your relationship with the Holy Spirit. He’s the most important factor for your success. The Bible says, “…it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”(Romans 9:16). In John 15:5, Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

The man who’s in fellowship with the Spirit, who’s yielded to Him for guidance and inspiration, is described for us in Psalm 1:3: “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” How inspiring!

Become more conscious of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence and glory in your life. Make your times of fellowship with Him the most important moments of your life.

One moment of fellowship with the Holy Spirit can give a lifetime advantage and boost in your journey of success that nothing else can create for you. He’s your guarantee of a life of rest and peace. He’s the one who glorifies your life and brings you into favours, promotions and blessings untold. He’s all you need, for with Him, you can do all things and be all that God created you to be. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Righteous and gracious heavenly Father, I thank you for the glory of your presence in my life; the blessing of having the Holy Spirit in my life, who causes me to walk in wisdom and in your perfect will at all times. I’m effective in the ministry of the Gospel, impacting my world with your righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

3RD SEPTEMBER.

I affirm that I am an offspring of the Word; I am aglow with the Spirit. I am bold, strong and courageous in my daily walk of faith. My words are quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. With my words, I cut down everything in my life that is contrary to the provisions of the Word. The Greater One lives in me, thus, I refuse to be sick, for the life of God in me pulsates through every part of my being. It is well with my spirit, soul, and body. I prosper in all things; my health flourishes continually.

My life is an absolute manifestation of the glory of God! I live from the inside out, and the glory of the Lord in my spirit is expressed in my body with excellent and perfect health. The glory and grace of God has increased in my life. Hallelujah! My tongue is a tree of life, and my spirit is a reservoir of God’s Word. Out of my heart and my mouth flow the rivers of life. Satan has nothing to his advantage in me, for I am born of the Word, and walk in the Spirit. Fear, doubt, unbelief, sickness, infirmity, failure, and poverty are not a part of my experience of life. I live and see from the mountain top. Glory to God.

God bless you

TruBodX Keto This food plan might basically have been manufactured from lean meat, nuts, seeds and berries. it's also called the Paleolithic or caveman food regimen apparently, several research in reality show that the Paleolithic food plan has more high-quality outcomes for diabetics over other diets. One example is a 2007 take a look at through Lindeberg on 29 diabetic sufferers with either glucose intolerance or type diabetes. In that observe those individuals had been divided into businesses and located on either a Mediterranean or Paleolithic food regimen. The effects of that have a look at confirmed that although there was a marked improvement in glucose tolerance in both organizations, the improvement changed into some distance more within the institution at the Paleolithic food plan. So it honestly comes as a surprise to locate the Paleolithic weight-reduction plan coming in remaining at 34 in the have a look at done through US news and international report. Is the Paleolithic weight loss plan the quality weight-reduction plan for diabetics then. http://www.theguidestore.com/trubodx-keto/

Supreme Court strikes out suit seeking the disqualification of President Buhari in the 2019 presidential election over alleged perjury

The Supreme Court has struck out the suit seeking the disqualification of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election over alleged perjury.

The suit was filed by Kalu Kalu, Labaran Ismail and Hassy El-Kuris, all legal practitioners. Delivering judgment, the Justice Mary Odili-led panel of five justices held that the case was statute barred and therefore dismissed.

The justices during the introduction of appearances wondered why Abdullahi Abubakar, State Counsel from the Federal Ministry of Justice will be representing a private individual. Abubakar had announced his appearance for the first respondent (General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) in the suit. They warned him to desist from such act of using public office to defend a private litigation.

Muhammad Dattijo, while addressing the counsel sited the President Bill Clinton’s numerous private cases while in the office. “Clinton in his numerous private litigation, he never used government organs but rather personally sponsored all his private cases”. He warned that his actions contravene the Code of Conduct for public servants, which have consequences.

Quote:Odili in her judgment said: “The court notes the inappropriate appearance of Mr Abdullahi Abubakar state counsel from the Federal Ministry of Justice, representing the first respondent Gen. Muhammad Buhari Rtd in his personal capacity. This practice must be discouraged, appeal haven been withdrawn is hereby dismissed,” Odili said.
The appellants specifically wanted Buhari’s nomination and subsequent victory at the February 23 presidential election nullified on the grounds that President Buhari lied on oath in his form 001 that he submitted to INEC for the purpose of clearance for the presidential election.
They asked the apex court for an Order to set aside the judgment of the court of appeal and hear the matter on merit and grant the reliefs sought in the Originating Summons.

Quote:The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said its collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation has led to the arrest of a female suspect cyber fraudster in Edo State.

It said the female suspect (names withheld) worked in collaboration with foreign counterpart in dark web.

Head of Benin Zonal Office who spoke on behalf of Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, Muhtar Bello, said the female suspect was involved in obtaining and stealing people’s identification information which she forward to her American collaborators.

Bello said her American collaborators used the information to file for fraudulent tax return with the Internal Revenue Service.

He stated that the suspect received her CT through Bitcoin and about 185 Bitcoin currently worth N656m was traced to her.

The EFCC Zonal head said it independently arrested a cybercriminal and two siblings involved in Business Email Compromise (BEC).

Bello outlined their operandi as searching for victims’ email addresses especially official Business Email addresses; create a phishing link and compromising the process in order to defraud unsuspecting victims.

According to him, “The three suspects will have their date in court soon. We do not want to state the woman’s name so as not to compromise investigation.

“The Commission is resolute in exterminating cybercrime and bringing to book all those involved in this despicable activity.

“As part of our strategic plans to tackle this malaise, the Benin Zonal Office, from January to date, through intelligence raided the hideout of internet fraudsters in our jurisdiction-Edo, Delta and Ondo States.

“These raids led to the arrest of 113 internet fraudsters. While the prosecution of many of the cases is ongoing in court, we have so far secured 53 convictions in the period under review.”

Over 30 exotic cars, charms, laptops, mobile phones, flash drives, according to him, were recovered from the suspects.

Nigerian Man Arrested In India With 600 Grams Of Heroin Shaped As Eggs
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-02-2019, 02:45 PM - No Replies

Quote:A 37-year-old Nigerian man was caught carrying 600 grams of heroin that he shaped in the form of eggs to avoid detection, Delhi Police said on Friday.

Atul Kumar Thakur, deputy commissioner of police (north-east), identified the arrested man as Uchanna Israel Obutt, who had been released on bail in February last year after spending three years in jail in a fake visa case.

The DCP said Obutt had been living in India since 2015 and posed as a tiles businessman to carry out drug dealings. “In 2015, he was arrested by Delhi Police’s crime branch in a case of cheating and under the Foreigners Act,” the DCP said.

Upon his release from jail, Obutt allegedly continued trading in drugs. “Of late, he wanted to expand his drug dealings in the trans-Yamuna area,” said the officer.

Obutt was arrested from the Nand Nagri Flyover in north-east Delhi on Thursday afternoon after the police received a tip-off that he would be carrying heroin with him.

Initially, the police spotted Obutt carrying a crate of eggs in a bag, which he claimed were chicken eggs. But when the police took a closer look, they found it suspicious.

“The eggs were not only brown and a bit larger in size compared to the usual chicken eggs; they also had a rough surface,” said another investigator.

The police checked further to realise that the dozen eggs were actually heroin, whose market worth the police pegged at R 1.25 crore.

Police said that Obutt, who lives in Dwarka in Delhi, has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. “We are trying to get to the source of these drugs,” said the investigator.

SuperKeto You may also search advice from a nutritionist in case you are unfamiliar with what a properly-balanced food plan for SuperKeto entails. In a study wherein adults with weight problems were requested to follow a weight-loss SuperKeto plan, then randomised to obtain either 200mg caffeine supplements thrice a day for 24 weeks or a placebo complement , there was no distinction in weight change between teams. Those who want to take these dietary supplements need to discontinue them after a month or so, to keep away from attainable unintended effects. It combines strong, efficient doses of dietary supplements that work very effectively collectively, and has no worrisome ingredients or extraneous components. #BBNaija: Again, Seyi wins Veto Power of Chance

Housemate, Seyi Awolowo has won the Veto Power of chance badge in the ongoing BBNaija season four.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this was the second time Seyi won the badge, weeks after the controversy that trailed his first win.
In July, Seyi failed to use his chance card to save himself from nomination, causing Biggie to ban him from participating in the challenge till the end of the show.
He was also fake-evicted alongside Tacha as part of punishment for refusing to use the power of the card. Soon after, Seyi was returned to the house and allowed to participate in future challenges.
On Sunday night, he joined the other housemates to test his chance at winning the coveted badge.
As usual, the Veto Power Game is a Game of Chance with each Housemates having an equal probability of winning.
For having the least amount of marbles at the end of the Game, Seyi has become the Veto Power Holder for this week.

There were twelve stools with a silver cup on it. The Housemates were to pick a stool and stand in front of it for the game.
Once they chose their playing stand, they were not allowed to change or swap position. Housemates were to pick a card from the magic hat which housed two types of cards.
The first type of cards was those with single digits’ zero to six while the second type of cards had the instruction “pass two marbles to the person next to you.”
Having understood the rules of the Game, the Housemates proceeded to pick a card and place the corresponding number of marbles into their cups.
In the first round, the Housemates with the most marble were eliminated. In this case, it was Ike and Mike.
The process was repeated in the second round and the Housemates collected marbles which were added to the previous ones they had.

When this round was over and the scores tallied, Venita and Omashola were out of the game for having the most marbles.
The third round saw Frodd, Seyi, Tacha, Cindy, Khafi, Elozonam, Mercy and Diane go through the card and marble process again.
At the end of the third round, there was a tie between Seyi and Tacha. Both Housemates had three marbles each which made the game extend into another round.
This time, Seyi won as he had the least amount of marbles. With his position, he also earned 100 Bet9ja Coins and bonus coins for his teammates.
The Veto Power Holder will make a Save and Replace decision on Nomination Night on Monday.

Threat as a political statement and implored Governor Ganduje to live by example.

Quote:Governor Ganduje of Kano State, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, had vowed to take legal action against the government of Rivers State over alleged demolition of the Rainbow Central Mosque in Trans-Amadi Area of Port Harcourt.

Speaking with Tribune Online, Director of legal and Public Affairs, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Samuel Kwamkur said Kano state governor has no locus standing to issue such threat because he is not a religious leader adding that his state is more guilt of persecution of Christians than any part of the country.

“I am very surprise to hear Governor Ganduje of Kano state talking about illegality. We have chains of report from Christians in Kano of how they suffered persecutions from government, their places of whorships destroyed, also denied right of ownership. Governor Ganduje should tell Nigerians how many places of whorships in Kano has right of occupancy.

“If we are talking of illegality and persecution of church, it is more in Kano state than any part in this country. He doesn’t have the locus standing to threaten Governor of Rivers State with legal action, that statement is purely political. Our brothers in government in the North should see the need to be tolerant, if tolerant can be done across board, we would not have problem in this country.

“Except Governor Ganduje has changed, he is not the right person to issue threat of legal action. He should allow religious leaders to handle the matter, moreso NAREC is working hard on this matter, it has set up committee and sent people to Rivers State to find out actual truth and situation of things”

Director Legal and Public Affairs of CAN enjoined both political and religious leaders in the country to understand the circular nature of Nigeria and exhibit tolerance towards one another, adding that those in leadership positions must realise that they are presiding over the christains and Muslims.

He enjoined Governor Ganduje to live by example and avoid actions and utterances that could cause disaffection and worsen the existing fragile peace in the country.

Said he:”He should live by example so that people will copy him. Let us see how christians in Kano is celebrating how Governor Ganduje is treating them, then Governor Wike will copy from him. We are advising him to stay clear from the issue because he is not a religious leader neither is he owner of the mosque. He has no right to talk about what is happening in other states”

Presidency Hawks Want FG To Seize Bonga Over $9.6bn Judgment Debt

....EFCC opened investigations into failed project 2015

.....Report shows how P&ID repudiated $600m settlement deal

Quote:Iyobosa Uwugiaren in Abuja

As the $9.6 billion arbitration award and United Kingdom Court enforcement judgment against Nigeria in favour of an Irish firm, Process & Industrial Developments Limited (P&ID), continue to generate controversy, presidency hawks are urging the federal government to take stern actions to protect the country’s assets threatened by the hefty award, THISDAY learnt last night.

According to impeccable presidency sources, the actions being proposed include the seizure of Bonga Deep Water Oil Field in which a British company, Shell, has substantial interest as well as other British and Irish businesses.

THISDAY learnt that those businesses would be targeted if the arbitral award is levied against Nigeria’s assets in the United Kingdom.

The paper also found that a status report by the Ministry of Justice written for the federal government revealed how efforts by both President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to negotiate the award with the company failed.

The report said following presidential intervention after the award, P&ID agreed with a delegation of the federal government to accept $600m as settlement but later reneged on the deal.

Presidential sources told THISDAY last night that the hardliners are pushing for a punitive response because they felt that the failed gas to power project signed in 2010 was a fraudulent deal and ought not to stand.
They drew strength from the interim report of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an investigation it launched on the bad deal in 2015, which found that the contract was neither authorised by President Umaru Yar’Adua nor approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) that have the power to seal such a deal.

Besides, the EFCC found that there was collusion between some officials of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and P&ID to defraud the country.
“Given this background, senior officials at the presidency are shocked that the British Commercial Court could allow its high position to be used to obtain a judgment that could undermine the economy of a developing country,” a source said.

He said for the hardliners, because of the quantum of the award and its likely effect on the country’s foreign reserve, the matter had become a national security issue, which the federal government must take concrete steps to protect.

“They feel that if $9.6bn worth of assets of Nigeria is seized, it has the real potential of adversely affecting the country’s economy and could lead to so much social dislocation that could force many young Nigerians abroad,” another source said, adding: “That is a prospective they feel the federal government must prevent by all means.”

Consequently, he said, the hawks argued that the federal government must take actions that would deter the British government from encouraging the attachment of Nigerian assets by demonstrating its willingness to retaliate any unfriendly action, which could include targeting British and other business interests in the country for takeover.

The presidency, the source said, had consequently directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to liaise with the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice to take all measures to protect Nigeria’s interests, including renegotiation of the award and appeal of the enforcement judgment.

If these fail, said the source, then Bonga and other British as well as Irish business interests in the country that are commensurate to any Nigerian asset attached would be seized.

Report Shows How P&ID Repudiated $600m Settlement Deal

THISDAY also gathered yesterday that P&ID had agreed with the federal government to accept $600 million as final settlement but later reneged on the deal.

The status reported seen by the paper revealed that upon being served with the final award in February 2017, with the tribunal awarding the claimant $6. 597Billion plus interest at the rate of 7% from 20th March 2013, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN, on March 17, 2017 sent a letter to the vice president listing recommendations that he felt could resolve the matter.

The vice president, on April 18, 2017, approved the recommendations of the minister, which included a negotiation of the award with the P & ID.

Based on the vice president’s approval, the then Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, and their delegations along with the federal government counsel, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, on May 16, 2017, were said to have met with representatives of P & ID and its counsel to negotiate the award.

According to the report, ‘’The negotiation meeting was very successful given that the federal government team was able to negotiate the award from USD8.4Billion to USD600Million on the following terms: USD100Million will be paid to P&ID within 14 days by the federal government after execution of the Stay of Enforcement of Award Agreement; while the outstanding sum (USD500Million) will be paid through an asset that will be determined by the MPR.’’

In line with the terms, the P&ID forwarded a draft Stay of Enforcement Agreement through the federal government counsel, Ayorinde, which in turn was forwarded to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for necessary action.

The reason for the foregoing decision, according to the report, was arrived at, considering the fact that the Ministry of Petroleum was supposed to make available the money and assets mentioned in the negotiation.
However, when the ministry forwarded its comments to the P&ID, the company was said to have totally rejected it on the ground that what was agreed on to be executed was a draft Stay of Enforcement Agreement and not a Settlement Agreement as proposed by the federal government.

The report added, ‘’Based on the rejection, a letter was written by the Minister of Justice on November 3, 2017 to the VP, seeking approval to re-negotiate the award with the P & ID. The approval of the VP was received on December 7, 2017 and same was communicated to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the federal government counsel.

‘’The federal government counsel responded on February 19, 2018 stating that its request to re-negotiate the award was communicated to the P & ID, which appears no longer interested in the negotiated settlement arrived at on May 16, 2017. He further stated that the P & ID had proceeded to instruct its counsel to approach the court without further notice to federal government to recover the judgment debt and would only consider a pure settlement of the award.’’

According to the report, detailing what the federal government did to reduce the award, the P&ID was said to have further proposed another option as follows: that the federal government should accept service of court processes in respect of the enforcement proceedings. And that upon acceptance of the court processes should make a substantial down payment against the outstanding sums due under the award, and in return P & ID would agree to a temporary stay of such court proceedings to allow for a chance for a full resolution of the matter.

Consequently, the P&ID in April 2018 was said to have began enforcement proceedings in the United States of America against the ministry of Petroleum Resources and the federal government, claiming an amount above US$9Billion.

In response, Malami engaged the American law firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP to represent the interests of the federal government and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources with regards to the Arbitral Award Enforcement Proceedings involving P&ID and ensure the matter is diligently defended.

In the US proceedings, the P&ID had filed for entry of default on June 4, 2018, which was entered as a clerk’s entry of default on June 5, 2018. But the clerk’s entry of default was not a default judgment but a mere notice of an application for a default judgment.

According to the report, ‘’In response to the Petitioners application for default judgment, the federal government counsel (Law Firm) on 12 June, 2018 filed a motion to set aside the clerk’s entry of default for defective service, which was conceded to by the Petitioner (P&ID) and it applied to the court to cure the deficiency by serving a fresh process on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Petroleum Resources through courier or normal mail.

‘’The law firm engaged in discussion with the P&ID Counsel (Kobre & KIM LLP) and proposed that a meeting should be held with the P&ID counsel and federal government delegation so as to discuss the settlement of the matter.’’

It said while the federal government proposed 12 and 13 of July 2018 for the meeting with the P&ID counsel in New York, which was approved by the P&ID counsel, the president directed the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the Attorney General of the Federation to ensure strong efforts were made by the federal government engaged solicitor, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, to seek ways of protecting the interest of the federal government in enforcement proceedings.

Buhari, the report added, further directed government officials to reopen negotiations with P&ID, with a view to arriving at a settlement in the neighbourhood of $250million in line with the recommendation/dissenting view of the Nigerian appointed arbitrator, Chief Bayo Ojo SAN, and that the settlement could be in the form of cash and Marginal Oil and Gas Field or cash only.

While Buhari was expecting the draft settlement agreement with P&ID for his consideration before it would be finalized, the Minister of Finance was to pay the sum of $100million into an escrow account to indicate the seriousness of the government to negotiate a settlement.

According to the report, “In line with the directive and approval of the president, the federal government delegations were in New York, USA to meet with the counsel to P&ID (Kobre & Kim LLP) between 12 and 13 of July, 2018 to discuss the settlement of the matter.

“Prior to the meeting with the P&ID counsel on July 13, 2018, the delegations had a meeting with the federal government counsel handling the matter, Messrs Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, on the 12 July, 2018 to discuss the strategies of proceeding with the settlement with the P&ID.

“At the meeting P&ID was of the opinion that the settlement offer by the government in May 2017 at the settlement meetings in London was not mutually agreed by the parties and does not represent the collective intention of the parties, saying it was no longer looking to accept marginal field assets as part of the settlement but would rather expect monetary payments.

“P & ID was also looking for a sum in excess of USD2 Billion in the settlement of the claim, stating it may consider a stand-still agreement backed by a part payment and specific arrangements on payment of the balance.”

On its part, said the report, Nigeria was favourably disposed to a settlement of the dispute at a reasonable sum, while maintaining that it would not consider a stand-still agreement, but would rather favour payment of a reasonable sum in full and final satisfaction of the claim.

Nigeria further said that it would only consider monetary payments to P&ID, and in this regard offered a sum of USD250Million to the company which it rejected.

The report further stated: “After the breakdown of negotiations, the P&ID continued with the enforcement action and simultaneously filed an action in the United Kingdom (UK) court for the recognition and enforcement of the arbitral award in the UK, which led to the recent judgment against Nigeria.”

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two suspected robbers, who hijacked a Taxify Toyota Corolla Sports in Lekki and three others that participated in the selling of the car to a dealer in Republic of Benin for the sum of N250,000.

The suspects: Michael Sosa (27), Nelson Benson (24), Idowu Dauda (30), Owolabi Shobayo, a.k.a Daju pa (29) and Biliaminu Abu, a.k.a Gengen (43) were all arrested in Ijoko and Ota, Ogun State last week for hijacking and selling a Taxify car back in February, 2019.

It was revealed that Sosa, in company of Dosumu, now at large, had sometime in February, 2019 converged in Elegushi Beach, Lekki where they both hatched the plan to hijack a Taxify car, move it to Ogun State to sell. Sosa, a suspected ‘yahoo boy’, after waiting till 10:00 p.m. ordered a Taxify ride from Agungi Estate to Lagos Island.

In the car with him were other suspects, identified as Dosumu and Idowu Samuel.

Quote:According to Sosa, “at Abraham Adesanya Estate, Lekki, I told the driver I wanted to ease myself. We alighted, while I pretended to be urinating, Dosumu poured dried pepper he was keeping in a bottle water he bought in traffic. He allowed the substance to dissolve well.
“We got back into the car. The Taxify driver was about to start the car when Dosumu poured the mixture on the driver’s head. Spontaneously, he screamed and jumped out of the car. He started shouting for help. I got on his seat and drove the car away from the scene.
“I drove to the road leading to Alpha Beach, where we stopped for some hours because we suspected we were being followed. At about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, I proceeded to Agege via Agidingbi, dropping Dosumu in Omole. I picked Nelson Benson in Agege Stadium. Nelson was to direct us through the routes that prevent us from encountering the police on our way to Ijoko”, he stated.

He explained further; “at Ijoko, I took the car to Alfa Mouka’s house. He was my spiritualist. I told him the car was stolen. It was at this point we began to source for buyers. I was introduced to Daju pa and Gengen. The two of them, as I got to know later were dreaded cultists and notorious criminals in the area. Because I was new in the area, I didn’t know them quite well. The area was supposed to be a hide out for my family and I couldn’t confront the duo. I have been warned that I could be shot there. They took the car from me, by this time, they were already scheming and getting difficult to understand. I told them I wanted to sell the car for N300,000.”

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu stated that criminals who thought they could escape with their nefarious activities perpetrated in Lagos might need to think twice as the command is at alert and would haunt down any criminal in any part of the country.

The suspects have been transferred to SARS for further investigations.

CAN asks President Buhari to ban Miyetti Allah

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has asked President Buhari to ban the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), an umbrella association of herdsmen in the country.

The association also called on the president to “completely scrap” the suspended ‘Ruga’grazing scheme. CAN made the request at the Church leaders stakeholders’ summit, themed, ‘RUGA: The church’s response in the 21st century,’ which was held in Lagos on Saturday.

Samson Ayokunle, CAN president, was quoted as saying the association came up with the recommendations after setting up a committee to look into the Ruga grazing scheme and related issues. He accused MACBAN of supporting some herdsmen fingered in various attacks across the country.

Quote:“Anything that smacks of mutual suspicion should be avoided in the interest of national unity,” Ayokunle was quoted as saying. He said among the group’s recommendation are: “The federal government should immediately disarm and prosecute the Fulani herdsmen terrorists that have been recorded as one of the deadliest terrorists groups in the world.
“The group of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association which openly supported the activities of the murderous Fulani herdsmen be identified and banned immediately. President Buhari should suspend his membership and patronage of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association until he leaves office to reduce tension.”
Ayokunle was also quoted as saying insecurity in the country had become an embarrassment such that even military officers are afraid of travelling without escorts.
Quote:He added: “Enough is enough about insecurity in the country. It is totally embarrassing and people are having sleepless nights over it. There is no free movement anymore. Even military officers can no longer travel without heavy military escort; it is as bad as that. It is happening on a daily basis, it is no longer propaganda, neither is it political opposition talks.
“Our relatives are constantly being kidnapped and we are being compelled to look for money to pay ransoms. There are no other persons we can call upon other than the government because that is why they are there.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 2ND SEPTEMBER.

GREATNESS, HUMILITY AND ORDER

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted (Matthew 23:12).

A very striking quality of truly great people is their humility. It makes no difference where they are, they respect leadership; they honour structures, principles, and maintain order. It brings to mind something that Jesus did when He was to feed a crowd of five thousand men (women and children not counted). He said to His disciples, “… Make them sit down by fifties in a company. And they did so, and made them all sit down” (Luke 9:14-15).

The instruction was simple: sit down in manageable groups, and the men did. Not to heed such a simple instruction would be to be out of order, which oftentimes is the result of pride. Don’t try to “rise,” when the instruction is for you to “sit.” Relax and calm down. Get in order.

1 Peter 5:5-6 says, “…be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” Those who are proud, despite their desire for expansion, progress or advancement, don’t experience much, because God resists the proud. He gives grace to the humble.

When you come for a Church meeting, for example, and you’re given an instruction as to where to park your vehicle or directed in the auditorium as to where to sit, don’t complain. Comply. Don’t shrug with contempt at the venue or facility managers; don’t disrespect the ushers.

Our opening verse in the Amplified Classic says, “…whoever humbles himself [whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly] shall be raised to honor.” Humility is the speed for life, the catalyst for ever-increasing greatness and unlimited progress. It’s the way to experience quantum leap, and be elevated to honour in your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m submitted to the authority, influence and impact of your Word. Pride, arrogance, haughtiness, or egotism have no place in me. I walk in true humility and as a result, I experience ever increasing greatness and unlimited progress in every area of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Following recent happenings that threatens the very fundamental of Nigeria’s unity, a Northern Coalition Group, has extended a serious challenge to President Muhammadu Buhari Government to show to the country that he has the capacity to safeguard the corporate existence of the nation.
“Coalition of Northern Group, demands from the Federal Government proofs of it’s capacity to protect citizens in all parts of the North as a minimum evidence that it is serious about it’s responsibilities”, the CNG noted.

Speaking, the group’s Spokesman, AbdulAziz Suleiman, the Board of Trustees Chairman Nastura Shariff and the Chairman of the Coalition, Balarabe Rufai, said at a Press Conference in Kano Press Center, Sunday that it is high time that Government showed its seriousness to protect the citizens.
They said, ” we warn that failure to bring about an immediate end to the violence ravaging the North will confirm concerns of apparent system failure and that the region had been abandoned by the authorities in which communities will be left with the only option of taking steps to protect themselves “.
AbdulAziz Suleiman said the CNG demand that the Federal government, Northern Governors and Legislators take immediate steps to reassert the rights of every Nigerian to practice the religion of his choice anywhere.

In this context, the group moves to obtained a comprehensive statistics of all existing private establishments in the north including Companies, Banking and Financial Institutions, Educational Institutions, Telecom agencies, hotels and recreational centers, Pension Companies, legal firms, health facilities, profit oriented NGO’S, Insurance and stock agencies with a view to seeking the review of their staff composition.
” By this, we means henceforth, Northerners in their region would take 70 percent for States indigenes, 15 percent to catchment areas within north while 15 percent can go to any part”

In the same vein, they asserted that they will approach all indigenous contractors to get preference in the award of all contracts from all governors in the region and money from the region should not be used to support any other Southern groups or persons.

Buhari lacks commitment to end poverty – ASUU

President Buhari has been slammed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over his comment of channeling resources into education to end poverty.

The Chairman of the Union at the University of Ibadan, Professor Deji Omole who spoke on Sunday September 1, described the President's statament as political. Alleging that President Buhari has shown hatred to fund and offer Nigerians qualitative education, the ASUU chairman also stated that the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu is also not different from his employer.

He recalled how the Minister of Education made so many political statements including declaring a state of emergency in the education sector during President Buhari's first tenure, but refused to act on his words afterwards.

Quote:“He is back to a familiar terrain. We are also in that same terrain. He spent more than three years in his first term and made so many political statements which were never implemented. One of such statements was the fact that they were going to declare state of emergency in the education sector and till he left office in his first term that was not done.
“In fact there was no attempt towards that direction. Rather than moving towards declaring state of emergency, what we saw was further reduction in the budgetary allocation to education. I don’t think anyone should expect any radical change from what happened to education in his first term and from what is going to happen.
“The administration has demonstrated its hatred for education by constantly reducing the budgetary allocation to education. Most of their policies are anti-university.
“For example, in UI today, it’s almost impossible to recruit new staff meanwhile people are dying as a result of excess work and people are retiring and you are not employing new people. So, I don’t expect sharp departure from what it used to be. He does not need to tell us. We all know.
“All the developed world have been able to solve their problems through education and that is why we have always been engaging different governments that the only antidote to poverty is putting adequate attention to educating the masses.
"No nation can ever grow beyond the quality of education given to its citizens. Nobody will come from America to develop Nigeria. Nigeria can only be developed by Nigerians themselves and they can only develop if they have quality education to grow the economy. So it is not enough to make a political statement, you must follow it with action,” he said.

#Bbnaija2019 : Khafi Kareem Wins Again
September 1, 2019

Khafi Kareem has continued her winning streak carting home a 220,000 naira Scanfrost TV at the Saturday games.

This comes a week after she won an IVM car from Innoson Motors and became Head of House.

On Saturday, Housemates in the ongoing BBNaija reality show were tasked with showing the strengths of the Scanforst brand.

Khafi put on a cooking show demonstrating the use of Scanforst products in the kitchen, to earn first place.

They each picked a Scanfrost product and were timed to present a five minutes’ sales pitch and Biggie emphasized on delivering an entertaining, engaging and fun pitch.
The Challenge got some of the Pepper Dem Gang to put their acting caps on.

From Venita’s funny impressions of the other Housemates to the power puff girls’ individual Nollywood demonstration.

In five minutes, each Housemate had to captivate Biggie with an engaging presentation, creative delivery styles and a well-articulated pitch message.

Mike unleashed his cheerleading skills and Ike gave us some Eminem vibes with his rap-poem.

In addition to the innovative styles, Housemates like Frodd and Elozonam sold their chosen appliances using the usual boardroom style with a touch of creativity.

At the end of the task, four winners were selected based on presentation skills, creativity and knowledge of the Scanfrost products.

Apart from Khafi, who came first, Elozonam came fourth and was rewarded with a forty-inch LED television.

Third place was Ike, who earned a forty-two inch HD Smart TV and Sir Dee’s presentation skills got him a fifty-inch Full HD Smart TV.
Impressed with their individual presentations tonight, the Pepper Dem Gang each got microwaves as consolations prizes.

NEC: 22m Barrels of Oil Stolen in First Half of 2019
August 30, 2019

The National Economic Council (NEC) Thursday put the amount of crude oil stolen from Nigeria in the first six months of 2019 at 22 million barrels.

A statement from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday said Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who is the Chairman of the ad-hoc committee of the NEC on crude oil theft, prevention and control, gave the figure at a meeting of stakeholders in Abuja.

The statement, signed by NNPC Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, quoted Obaseki as calling on stakeholders to join forces and work towards eradicating crude oil theft.
The governor expressed concerns that oil theft is currently on the upward swing in the country.

Obaseki, who painted a dire picture of the oil theft menace, said if nothing was done to curtail the ugly trend, the figure could double by the end of the year.

According to him, oil theft and pipeline vandalism are beginning to pose a threat to the national economy.
The NNPC stated that the meeting had in attendance, its Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, and representatives of the governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers States.

Also, in attendance according to the corporation, were representatives of the Nigerian Police, Navy, Army, Civil Defence and the international oil companies (IOCs) as well as some indigenous operators.
NNPC equally said it was excited that oil theft and its twin-evil of pipeline vandalism were receiving attention at the highest level of governance in the country.

It added that in its June 2019 NNPC Monthly Financial and Operations Report (MFOR) released recently, it recorded a staggering 77 per cent rise in cases of oil pipeline vandalism across its network of pipeline infrastructure.

According to the report, 106 pipeline points were breached, representing an alarming increase from the 60 points vandalised in May 2019.

Over 6,000 Nigerians sue the National Assembly over plans to spend N5.5billion to buy

Over 6,000 Nigerians sue the National Assembly over plans to spend N5.5billion to buy luxury cars for principal officials

Over 6,721 concerned Nigerians as well as socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), BudgIT and Enough is Enough (EiE) have sued the National Assembly to stop it from spending N5.5billion to buy luxury cars for principal officials.

The case which has been filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos seeks to “restrain, prevent and stop the National Assembly Service Commission from paying or releasing the sum of N5.550 billion budgeted for purchase of luxury cars for principal members of the ninth Senate, and to restrain and stop the Senate from collecting the money until the downward review of the amount proposed by the Senate.”

In suit number FHC/L/CS/1511/2019 filed last Friday at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos, the plaintiffs argued: “Spending a huge sum of N5.550 billion to buy luxury cars for principal members of the ninth Senate is unjust and unfair. It negates the constitutional oath of office made by members to perform their functions in the interest of the well-being and prosperity of Nigeria and its citizens, as contained in the Seventh Schedule of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended).”

The plaintiffs also argued: “The proposed spending by the ninth Senate raises pertinent questions: What is the economic value and contribution of the vehicles sought to be purchased to the grand scheme of Nigeria’s economy? What are the parameters used to arrive at cost efficiency and value for money in the decision to purchase the vehicles? Where are the vehicles purchased by the eighth Senate?”

The 6,721 concerned Nigerians who joined the suit as co-plaintiffs with SERAP, BudgIT and EiE include: Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) co-conveners, Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yesufu; Jibrin Ibrahim; Edetaen Ojo; Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, and Deji Adeyanju.
The plaintiffs argued: “The failure or refusal by the Senate to comply with legal and constitutional provisions is nothing but an act of arbitrariness. The money could be better allocated to more important sectors of the National Assembly expenditure – like constituency projects and National Assembly-endowed educational scholarships.”

The suit, filed by Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP deputy director and supported by an affidavit of urgency, read in part:

Quote:“A public officer shall not put himself in a position where his personal interest conflicts with his official duties. But the plan to spend N5.550 billion to buy vehicles for principal members of the Senate is a textbook case of a conflict of their personal interests with national interest of fiscal efficiency – a conflict eventually resolved in favour of personal and self-interest.”
“Members of the National Assembly as public officials form a very tiny percentage of about 200 million Nigerians. It is public knowledge and judicially noticed that members of the Senate are still eligible to collect huge sums of money as monthly allowances and severance pay on conclusion of their respective terms at the National Assembly.”
“It is thus rational that this matter is presently generating a lot of public concern and many Nigerians are now calling for a review of the sum proposed and budgeted for vehicles for members. In the face of glaring facts about Nigeria’s dire economic position vis-a-vis the scant allocations to critical sectors of the nation, we can only pray the Court to do substantive justice by granting our reliefs sought.”
“There is real urgent need to assign, hear and determine this matter expeditiously. The well-being and prosperity of Nigeria requires commitment and sacrifice by all and sundry. However, the plan to spend N5.550 Billion [amounting to 6.4% of Nasarawa State budget] is anything but a commitment to pursue the interest, well-being and prosperity of Nigeria and its citizens.”
“We urge the court to grant the plaintiffs’ reliefs by stopping the spending of N5.550 billion on luxury cars by the Senate and compelling the Senate to undertake a downward review of the sum proposed and budgeted, consistent with the provisions of section 57[4] of the Public Procurement Act 2007. Unless the reliefs sought are granted, the Senate will continue to benefit from the breach of the law, and at the expense of millions of Nigerians living in poverty.”
The plaintiffs want the court to determine: “Whether the plan to spend N5.550 billion to buy vehicles for principal members of the ninth Senate is not in breach of Section 57[4] of the Public Procurement Act 2007, Paragraph 1 of Code of Conduct for Public Officers [Fifth Schedule Part 1] of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 [as amended] and Oath of office [Seventh Schedule] of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999”

I’ll not interfere with EFCC operations - President Buhari

President Buhari has pledged not to interfere with the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as it strives to uncover and prosecute corrupt public officials in the country.

The president made the pledge on Saturday at the graduation of 328 cadets of the Detective Superintendent Course 8 of the EFCC. The colourful passing out parade took place at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) parade ground, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna.

The parade climaxed 13 months of rigorous training to avail the officers with the necessary skills of law enforcement. Buhari who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, congratulated the cadets and urged them to contribute their quota to the fight against corruption in the country.

The President gave assurance that his administration would offer the EFCC all the necessary support to ensure effective discharge of its responsibilities. He also assured them that the government would improve their working condition to enhance their efficiency. The president also stressed that the fight against corruption remains a cardinal objective of his government.
He noted that significant progress has been made in the last four years in fighting corruption and blocking financial leakages especially with the introduction of the Single Treasury Account and whistleblower policy.  “This progress has facilitated the recovery of looted funds in the country”, Buhari said, and commended the EFCC for being part of the success story.

He urged them to continue with the good work in order to have a well-developed country. Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, stressed that all Nigerians have a responsibility of fighting against corruption, so as to have a well-developed nation.

Good digestive function is a crucial aspect in making sure that our body is processing nutrients, absorbing what it needs, and excreting normally and efficiently everything that does not serve us well. If you have any sort of digestive issue, however small it is, it is important to work on restoring normal digestive function first. This should be a priority, and before worrying about counting calories, fats and carbohydrates, a diet must be developed around restoring normal digestive function. Sometimes even our exercise routine has to be adjusted to accommodate energy levels from food intake when our digestion is compromised, because the body might not be getting all the nutrition needed to support the metabolism of exercise.>>> https://www.supplementsmegamart.com/purefit-keto/

10 Most Wanted People Hiding From Nigeria’s Security Agencies (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-01-2019, 12:06 PM - No Replies

Quote:Last week, 77 Nigerians were arrested by the United States Federal Bureau of Intelligence for alleged involvement in business email compromise, romance scam and defrauding American citizens millions of dollars which were allegedly channelled through Nigerian banks.

The development has triggered the arrest of some local collaborators while the FBI and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have launched a manhunt for other accomplices. This development has swelled the list of Nigerians on the wanted list of security agencies. We bring to you 10 most wanted Nigerians including their foreign accomplices.

Valentine Iro

Wanted by the FBI for cyber crimes

The 31-year-old was named along with Chukwudi Igbokwe, 38, as the lead suspects in the three-year FBI investigation of romance scams, business e-mail compromise, wire fraud and money laundering. At the end of the investigation, about 80 Nigerians were indicted, with some of the accomplices still in Nigeria. Iro and Igbokwe’s role was to ensure the laundering of money deposited by a victim into a bank account or a money services account.

According to the FBI, Iro and Igbokwe coordinated the transfer of victims’ funds from a fraudulent bank account they controlled in US bank accounts belonging to illicit money exchangers. “Those money exchangers, in turn, used a Nigerian banking application to transfer other funds in naira from Nigerian bank accounts they controlled to the Nigerian bank accounts specified by Iro and Igbokwe,” the FBI said in a statement. The authorities said this strategy was used to transfer millions of dollars to Nigerian co-conspirators without directly transferring funds overseas.

Mrs Ngozi Olejeme

She is on the run for diverting N69bn public fund, and money laundering. The Former Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has been living in the shadows since she fled the country to evade arrest for allegedly diverting N69bn alongside a former Managing Director of the NSITF, Mr Umar Abubakar. They were said to have stolen the money by awarding bogus contracts and through other financial malpractices. They allegedly committed the crime with Mrs Theresa Ittu.

Olejeme

Affiong, a principal suspect in two cases of fraud, Adjunct Prof. Olufunmilade Adeyemi, Haruna Adamu Gazau, Jennifer Turnah, two Chinese, Liang Zhang, Junyuang Jiang, and Christopher Achebe.

Olejeme, hails from Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Areas of Delta State and speaks English and Igbo languages fluently, while her last known address was given as No 14 J.F. Kennedy Street, Asokoro, Abuja. Following her escape, the EFCC detained her sureties, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja, Lagos State branch; Monday Ubani and Christopher Enai, an ex-senator representing Bayelsa State. They were subsequently granted bail by Justice Silvanus Orji of FCT High Court, Apo, in the sum of N50m, with two sureties who must be civil servants on Grade Level 15, after their lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, challenged their detention in court.

Government Ekpemupolo

He is wanted by the EFCC for N45.9bn fraud.

The EFCC declared the former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, wanted in February, 2016. The anti-graft agency in an advertorial signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said it declared Tompolo wanted following two bench warrants issued against him by a Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was charged with N45.9bn fraud.

He was said to have illegally diverted the money belonging to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency. The 50-year-old, dark-complexioned native of Okerenkoko, Gbaramotu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, went underground and had not been seen since then.

His last known address was given as No. 1, Chief Agbanu Street, DDPA Extension, Warri, Delta State. The fugitive, who wielded political influence in his state, is said to speak both Izon and English languages.

Tompolo

Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos issued a bench warrant against Tompolo on January 14 after he shunned a summons dated January 12 issued on him by the judge to appear in connection with the fraud charges filed against him and nine others by the EFCC. Buba ordered the law enforcement agencies to produce Tompolo before him on February 8 for him to answer the charges, but rather than appear in court on January 8, he went underground after the court dismissed his application to quash the bench warrant and arrest order.

The EFCC filed 40 counts against Tompolo and nine others, including the immediate past Director-General of NIMSA, Patrick Akpobolokemi. The other suspects in the charge are Kime Engozu, Rex Elem, Gregory Mbonu and Capt. Warredi Enisuoh. They were charged alongside four companies, namely: Global West Vessel Specialist Ltd., Odimiri Electrical Ltd., Boloboere Property and Estate Limited and Destre Consult Ltd.

Ittu Theresa

She is wanted by the EFCC for N1bn contract fraud.

Ittu is a principal suspect in two cases of fraud, contractual malpractices and obtaining goods under false pretence to the tune of N1bn and $1.4m, respectively. She allegedly received about N1bn from a government agency as payment for contracts which she failed to properly execute. Furthermore, the suspect was alleged to have fraudulently collected aircraft parts worth $1,416,000 from a Russian company and evaded payment.

The suspect failed to honour the EFCC’s invitation and is currently at large. The 50-year-old is fair in complexion. Her last known address was No. 2B Oko-Awo Close, Victoria Island, Lagos.

APC'll Win Kogi, Bayelsa 2019 Governorship Election - Tinubu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-01-2019, 12:01 PM - No Replies

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that his party would win the 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa states gubernatorial elections, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the former governor of Lagos State made the declaration while speaking at the birthday party of High Chief David Edebiri, a chieftain of the APC, in Benin City, on Saturday.

“I expect nothing less than victory in Kogi and Bayelsa States. Who is the other party?”, he said.

On complaints that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has not done well for his people to win a second term, the APC national leader said there is no democracy without complaints.

“If you don’t have complaints in politics, then there is no democracy so we only pay attention to the noise in the market because we have so many apples, oranges and various fruits of different character but there is one thing that is consistent”, he said.

“This is a market of many branches and this is the broom; they will come together as a bunch to sweep clean all the debris of the past, that is it, we are going to win”, Bola Tinubu added.

He, therefore, called on the people of Kogi to vote again for the party and Governor Bello in the Nov. 16 governorship election, while calling on Bayelsans to join what he termed “the progressives.”

With Asiwaju Tinubu in Benin City on Saturday, was Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress and two-time governor of Edo State, reports Igbere TV.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered a nationwide arrest of all identified Shi’ite leaders across the country, few weeks after the group were proscribed by the Nigerian government.

The Islamic group were blamed for the killing of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Umar Usman, and a youth corps member, Precious Owolabi, in the signal to the operatives dated August 30, 2019.

Punch reported that the IGP who revealed that a special investigation team which was constituted to probe the murder has gone far in its investigation, vowed not to allow Shi’ite members violate its proscription by a court.

Quote:“You will also recall that given the odious activities of the movement, the Federal Government obtained an order proscribing the group.
“NIGPOL FORCID (Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department) directs you (to) ensure that identified leaders of the group and their structures are dismantled and their activities contained.
“You are to inform me of your action for discreet investigation and possible prosecution of violators of the proscription order. Treat as very important" the signal read in part.

There was no physical structure of a mosque on the disputed land in Port Harcourt - Rivers Muslim Leader

Alhaji Nasir Uhor, a Rivers State Islamic Leader and Vice President General Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs has debunked the alleged demolition of a mosque by the state government.

The Muslim leader in a radio programme on August 31, stated that the whole world is a Mosque in Islam but admitted that there was no physical structure of a mosque on the disputed land in Rainbow Town in Port Harcourt.

Quote:“The insinuation that there is a 10-storey building is not true”, he said.

Recounting how the Rivers State government under Rotimi Amaechi stopped work at the location on two occasions, Uhor maintained that the leadership of the Muslim community in Rivers was not responsible for the falsehood circulating about the disputed land in Rainbow town.

Though admitting that a State High Court ruled that the disputed land belongs to Rivers Government, the Muslim leader however revealed that one Late Chief Amadi who sold the land to them claimed that he inherited it.

Also noting that Rivers State is a Christian dominated state, Uhor said it shouldn't be used to promote hatred. He urged the state government to embrace dialogue.

Nigerian journalist charged with treason for criticizing Governor Ben Ayade

Agba Jalingo, the publisher of CrossRiverWatch (a Cross River State-based newspaper) who has been in police detention for over a week following his arrest over a report on an alleged diversion of N500 million by the Cross River Governor Ben Ayade, has been charged with treason.

The journalist was handed a four-count charge of treasonable felony, terrorism, cultism, and the disturbance of public peace by the police after being arrested in Lagos and driven by road to Calabar, the capital city of the Cross River State.

In the charges filed before a Federal High Court in Calabar, Mr. Jalingo was accused of working with the convener of #RevolutionNow movement Omoyele Sowore, to destabilise the government and “undemocratically” force the government of Mr Ayade to end through violent means.

However Mr. Jalingo's counsel, Monday Ubani described the charges as "contrived" while pointing out that his client should have been charged not more than 48 hours after his arrest in line with the law of the country.

Quote:“We demand the unconditional release of Agba Jalingo from the unlawful custody of the police as it is obvious that the Governor and Police are not ready to arraign him yet for his alleged crime of treason. However, if they have a case against him, the best thing and option available to them is to charge him to court on Monday and allow the judiciary to decide his guilt or innocence.
“We must resist Nigeria being governed like a banana republic or like a dictatorship. Nigerians are awake" Ubani said.

Premium Times reported that the journalist also sued the police over his arrest and detention, which he said were illegal and a breach of his fundamental human rights. Mr. Jalingo is also claiming N150 million as damages for the manner he was allegedly maltreated.

Mass shooting in Texas leaves 5 dead and 21 injured (Photos/Video)

Five people were killed and 21 others injured in a mass shooting in and around the cities of Odessa and Midland, Texas, on Saturday afternoon (August 31).

Police confirmed that the shooter, a white man in his mid-30s who opened fire, was shot and killed in a gunfight with police at the Cinergy movie theater in Odessa.

The shooter was firing at random from his car, hitting multiple people, including several law enforcement officers and a 17-month-old girl, police said.

The first of the shootings began with a traffic stop by a Texas Department of Public Safety officer just after 3 p.m. local time, authorities said. The officer stopped a gold Honda with a traffic violation, according to police.

But after the vehicle came to a stop, the officer was shot, officials said.

The suspect fled along I-20 toward Odessa, and kept shooting at people in multiple locations, authorities said. When he got to 42nd Street, he struck several more people.

Confirming the shooting, Odessa Police Chief Mike Gerke said that the incident began when the suspect was pulled over for a traffic stop by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper about 3:15 p.m. Central Time. The suspect shot the trooper and fled in a gold-colored Honda.

The traffic stop happened on Interstate 20, the highway that connects Midland and Odessa. At least one other person was shot on I-20, police said.

The El Paso branch of the FBI said that “it is too soon to know motive or the identity of the suspect.”

Shocking witness video from the theater shows police confronting the suspect outside of the theater and engaging in a shootout.

"The state of Texas and the Department of Public Safety are working closely with local law enforcement to provide resources as needed and deliver justice for this heinous attack," Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement.

"We will not allow the Lone Star State to be overrun by hatred and violence. We will unite, as Texans always do, to respond to this tragedy,” he added. "We offer our unwavering support to the victims, their families, and all the people of Midland and Odessa."
