Xenophobia: Nigerians Attack Oby For Attending World Economic Forum In S'Africa
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-04-2019, 09:42 PM - Replies (2)

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has come under fire for attending the ongoing World Economic Forum in South Africa despite federal government’s boycott of the event over xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in the country, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that Nigeria, alongside African countries like Rwanda, Malawi and DR Congo, boycotted the two-day summit holding in Cape Town following the attack on foreigners in South Africa.

Ezkwesili earned heavy criticisms from Nigerians after photos of her attending the summit surfaced on social media, particularly on micro-blogging platform, Twitter.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, was among those to first criticize the former presidential candidate in the last general election.

“Surprised to see some Nigerian experts in everything governance who spend most of their time lecturing the Government on empathy and the art of prioritizing national interest over individual benefits, (but) still went ahead to attend the summit”, he wrote.

Other critics claimed that Mrs Ezekwesili could not afford to boycott the event because of “her love for dollars” and the “camera”.

Apart from the former Minister, Founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, was also spotted at the event and currently being dragged on Twitter alongside Oby.

Below are some reactions to her attendance at the event, as obtained by Igbere TV..

#Xenophobia: Nigerian government must sue South Africa and demand compensation – Femi Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has asked the Nigerian Federal Government to sue the South African government and demand compensation for Nigerian victims of the xenophobic attacks in the country.

Falana, in a statement, titled: “Beyond the condemnation of xenophobic attacks by the federal government,” said like its counterpart in Nigeria, the political class in South Africa have failed to address the challenge of poverty and inequality confronting the majority of the black people.

Quote:“Even though apartheid was defeated by the people of South Africa over two decades ago, the unjust socio-economic system erected by capitalism had not been dismantled. The crisis has been compounded by wanton corruption and the neo-liberal policies of the government.
“Hence, the South African masses have been denied the dividends of democracy by the African National Congress-led government. In particular, the masses have no access to health, housing, education and employment. Out of sheer frustration, millions of young people in South Africa have decided to subject African immigrants to xenophobic attacks,” he said.
According to Falana, the African National Congress, ANC, must accept responsibility for the misdirected antagonism against poor African imigrants. He said apart from the official condemnation of the shameful and cowardly attacks, the South African Government should fish out the culprits and prosecute them.
Quote:“In addition to the payment of adequate compensation to all the victims of the mindless attacks the Government must teach South Africans about the immense contributions of the people of Cuba and a number of African countries to the struggle waged against apartheid and colonialism in the Southern African region.
“However, since the Cyril Ramaphosa administration is not likely to accede to the demand for compensation the federal government should brief a team of lawyers to seek legal redress for the victims of the attacks in South African courts.
“The Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria should be directed to coordinate the legal defence. In view of the regular harassment of Nigerians in South Africa and a few other African countries, the federal government should make the Declaration to enable individual victims of human rights abuse to access the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights sitting in Arusha, Tanzania,” he said.
The activist said since there was no assurance that Nigerians and other Africans would no longer be subjected to xenophobic attacks, the federal government should boycott the World Economic Forum scheduled to commence in South Africa on September 4.

Domestic Airfare Rises By 25% On Aviation Fuel Scarcity
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 09-04-2019, 01:42 PM - No Replies

Nigerian airlines have increased domestic airfare by over 25 per cent due to the scarcity of aviation fuel, THISDAY has learnt.

Scarcity of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, has led to over 20 per cent rise in the price of the fuel, from between N180 and N200 per litre to between N230 and N270 per litre.

This development, it was learnt, forced the airlines to transfer the cost to travellers.

According to travel agents, an average one-way Lagos-Abuja ticket, which was sold for N35,000, if bought 24 hours ahead of the flight time, has now increased to N45,000.

Also, Air Peace’s air fare for same route that used to be N42,000 has increased to between N48,000 and N50,000, while business class costs as much as N89,900 within Nigeria at some airlines.

THISDAY gathered that due to bad roads, the demand for tickets for Lagos to Calabar, Owerri, Enugu, Warri and Benin has remained high with a one-way ticket from Warri to Lagos selling for N54,000.

It was not clear why the scarcity of aviation fuel occurred but an official of one of the oil marketing companies told THISDAY that it was caused by the forces of demand and supply.

The domestic airlines operators told THISDAY that their revenue dropped by N500 million due to the scarcity of aviation fuel.

The non-availability of the product in many cities like Kano, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Warri and Sokoto has forced airlines to tanker fuel from Lagos to other domestic destinations, thereby forcing them to either reduce passengers or luggage in their flights in order to carry more fuel.

This has led to further loss of revenue coupled with delays and cancellations due to scarcity of the product.

It was learnt that Air Peace, for instance, requires about a 400,000 litres of fuel daily as the largest operator, while Dana Air, Aero Contractors, Max Air require from 70,000 to 100, 000 litres of fuel daily and Arik Air’s demands of about 120, 000, totaling over 900,000 litres of aviation fuel.

The operators said the projected loss of N500 million was due to incurred expenses when flights are cancelled, the additional cost of the product due to the scarcity and loss of revenues due to limited number of passengers airlifted as airlines tanker more fuel for return flights.

The CEO of Aero Contractors, Captain Ado Sanusi, told THISDAY that since the last two weeks, the product has been scarce in Abuja, Sokoto, Port Harcourt and other cities, adding that the prices have increased with limited suppliers.

“We have been forced to cancel flights. We cancelled flights to Warri and Asaba recently because the product came late from our marketers. We queued and waited for our turn but when it reached us and we bought the fuel we could not operate the flight because Warri is a daylight airports,” he said.

Sanusi said the scarcity of aviation fuel had led to increase in air fares, as airlines have to recover the increase by passing the cost to travelers.

He added that they were still losing on the tickets earlier sold to passengers at lower fares for future flights before the increase in the prices of the product.

“Aviation fuel contributes 40 per cent to the total cost of operation. With the recent increase in the prices of the product, fuel is now contributing about 45 per cent of the total cost of operation. Aviation fuel is a major cost driver in the cost index. When it goes up your cost projection will go off the line. This will lead to arbitrary increase in fares for the airlines to recover their losses,” Sanusi said.

He explained that the scarcity gave rise to delays and cancellations, which lead to loss of revenue by the airlines, adding that whatever profits the airline ought to make were chocked by the additional costs.

According to him, the scarcity could be artificial because there is no global scarcity of the product, noting that it is only in Nigeria that the product is scarce but available in neighbouring countries like Ghana, and Togo where some foreign carriers that operate to Nigeria go to buy the product.

The Corporate Communications Manager of Dana Air, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, told THISDAY that the price of aviation fuel had increased and lamented the scarcity of the product in Abuja.

He alleged that the marketers might be locking up stock for foreign airlines that operate to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

“Domestic flights in Abuja have to pre-pay and wait to be allocated the product. Trucks take three days to truck product from Lagos to Abuja and the traffic gridlock at Apapa is not helping matters for loading and trucking. The costs range from N220 to N255 depending on location. The prices of the product are cheaper than outstations because of the trucking,” Ezenwa said.

He said the marketers might subtly be increasing the prices of the product, suspecting that the new prices might stay as the country approaches the Christmas season, which records flight activities due to Yuletide celebrations.

The Dana Air spokesman also said the flight scarcity had given rise to flight delays “here and there” in domestic airlines’ operations but it had not become acute.

He added that Dana air flights were not significantly impacted yet and expressed the hope that the product would become available at lower prices soon.

Xenophobia: Ohanaeze youths talk tough, call for self-defense
[Image: OHA.jpg]

As outrage continues to greet the xenophobic attack on Nigerians in South Africa, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has called for self-defense.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, the group directed its branch in South Africa to “rise up and defend themselves in groups not as individuals.”

The statement was signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.
He said the report on the continuous destruction of businesses, properties and killings against Nigerians in South Africa, and the silence of Nigeria High Commission in Pretoria, SA, was disturbing.
Isiguzoro charged Nigerians to resort to self-defence or return home.

“We observed that Igbo Youths are 85% victims of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, and call for the suspension of diplomatic ties with South Africa with Nigeria.
“There is rising tension in the land, especially in the old Eastern Region of Nigeria. Youths are unpredictable now after watching the Shoprite lekki being vandalized in reprisal to the Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in SA. We can no longer control Igbo Youths as many of them have been affected directly by the untold ordeals that affected their breadwinners in South Africa.
“We call for immediate suspension of South African business outfits and their activities in Nigeria, as we may not guarantee their safety in the Old Eastern Region of Nigeria.

“Shoprite, IBTC, MTN, DSTV should remain closed until Xenophobic attacks are stopped in South Africa. Igbo Youths complained that their breadwinners’ businesses will not be under threat while South African business outfits flourish in Nigeria.
“We wish to remind South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africans that it’s a Nigerian statesman from Igbo, and former Minister for Aviation, Pa Mbazulike Amaechi that saved the life of South African legend Nelson Mandela in the 80s before he returned to South Africa during the Apartheid era.
“How will they repay us with Xenophobic attacks, why will the South African Security Agents continue to kill our youths?
“We have continued to lose prominent sons and daughters to South Africa Police. Enough is Enough. Children of the Rising sun defend yourselves in South Africa,” he stated.

Xenophobia: Timi Frank sends strong message to South African President, Ramaphosa, attacks Buhari

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to urgently halt attacks against Nigerians and the wanton destruction of their property by rampaging citizens of that country.
While demanding an immediate stop to the bloodletting against innocent Nigerians, he called on the South African Government to commence the payment of adequate and commensurate compensation to the victims of the dastardly and unprovoked acts of aggression without delay.

Frank’s position was contained in a statement he signed and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
“On behalf of Nigerians, we plead with the South African government, its youths and the entire citizens to put a stop to the wanton killing of Nigerians and destruction of their property by irate South Africans and instead fashion out ways on how Nigerians and other African countries resident in your country can live together in peace and harmony.
“We agree completely with what Julius Malema said and I quote: “South Africa is Nigeria and Nigeria is South Africa.” Therefore, let’s live in unity.

“May we also remind our South African brothers and sisters that Africa is one indivisible continent and that most African countries especially in West Africa and Nigeria in particular, helped South Africa to fight their subjugation under apartheid by generously supporting them financially, materially and otherwise until they attained the abolishment of racial segregation.
“It was not only the right thing to do but was done because Nigeria regards South Africans as our brothers and sisters.
“We urge South African youths to emulate the late icon, Nelson Mandela, who was always for peace and even forgave those that imprisoned him for 27 years. Mandela preached peace, love, and forgiveness during his lifetime.

“We, therefore, encourage the youths to give peace a chance and allow Nigerians and other Africans resident in their country to live in harmony in the spirit of African oneness,” he said.
He urged the South African authorities to urgently evolve both legal and policy instruments to permanently stop these acts of belligerence and open aggression against Nigerians.
He also called on the leadership of the African Union (AU) to intervene and prevent needless hostilities between Nigeria and South Africa which may result if the prolonged attacks against Nigerians and their interests in the former apartheid enclave is not urgently halted.
“It is time for the AU to walk the talk by invoking the necessary sections of its charter to stop this orgy of degradation and dehumanization against Nigerians.
“The AU must prove its relevance by acting swiftly. They cannot afford to obfuscate by mouthing words while shying away from addressing the pogrom and genocide against innocent Nigerians legally residing in South Africa at this time.
“They must act to prevent this unprovoked aggression from snowballing into unimaginable proportions on both sides. A stitch in time would save nine at this trying moment,” he said.
Frank in a statement in Abuja further disclosed that he already had discussions with one of the leaders of opposition political parties in South Africa, Julius Malema, over the imbroglio and said that he would soon visit him to strategize on how to permanently end the hate induced violence against Nigerians in South Africa.
“It is most unfortunate that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his ‘yahoo yahoo’ administration is clueless on how to protect Nigerians from this horrendous xenophobic onslaught against hapless citizens.
“Since they are presently busy organizing worthless press conferences, I took the initiative and spoke with Julius Malema, one of the most respected voices in South Africa, and urged him to prevail on his people to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign.
“I will be going to South Africa soon to visit Malema in order to evolve strategies and actions that would end this inhumanity being meted on innocent Nigerians by South Africans once and for all,” he said.
He pleaded with Nigerians back home to exercise restraint in the face of these grievous acts of provocation emanating from South Africa.
“If the South Africans are exhibiting madness, we must maintain our sanity by not attacking businesses owned by Nigerians here but operating under franchises owned by South Africans.
“It is unfortunate that most business outlets now suffering reprisals in the country are 100 per cent owned by Nigerians operating under franchise.
“Therefore any loss of lives or destruction of businesses in Nigeria in reaction to what is happening in South Africa would amount to double jeopardy for Nigeria,” he said.
The political activist commiserated with families that have lost loved ones in the fracas.
He also sympathized with Nigerians who have sustained injuries, lost property or businesses as a result of the attacks and urged them not to take laws into their hands but to allow justice to prevail.

Catholic Bishop of Awka diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on the federal government and politicians across Nigeria to expect a revolution from Nigerian populace soon.
According to the Bishop, politicians should expect revolution, more beatings and manhandling from citizens if nothing is done to address the hardship in the country.

Recall that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, recently attacked a former Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, in Nuremberg, Germany for his alleged silence during the 2017 ‘Operation Python Dance’ which led to the death of some members of the pro-Biafra group.
Speaking on Tuesday during his maiden pastoral visit at the St. James Catholic Church, Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ezeokafor said, “Politicians must either sit up or be ready to face the wrath of hungry and angry Nigerians.
“Nigerians are hungry and angry. You cannot beat a child and stop him from crying. People have the right to protest, provided they are not armed.

“It is done all over the world. Once something is not going on well, you reserve the right to speak up. People have the right to voice out their grievances,” Ezeokafor said.
Noting that Nigerians all over the country are dying daily due to the effects of bad leadership, the cleric said the political class must do all it takes to douse tension among citizens.
“They have right to express displeasure over certain matters. I think what the political class should do to douse the tension is to face governance and lawmaking squarely and work for the common good of the masses. ‘I see more and more greedy politicians being manhandled,”

“Nigerians are dying on daily basis because of bad governance. No good roads, no healthcare, no electricity, cost of living is so high. Yet, these people are busy siphoning our common patrimony,” he added.

Buhari demonstrated hatred for education by reducing budgetary allocation – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Sunday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari demonstrated his hatred for the education sector by constantly reducing budgetary allocation for the sector.
The union said the reduction of the budgetary allocation has made it impossible for universities in the country to recruit more staff despite the fact that many are dying as a result of excess work.

Chairman, ASUU University of Ibadan chapter, Professor Deji Omole, made these declarations while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Omole described the statement credited to the President citing education as a way to end poverty as a political statement.
According to him, Nigerians do not need the President to tell them what has been proven by serious countries as a way to edge-out poverty.

Omole maintained that beyond uttering such statement, President Buhari and his team through their education policies have shown hatred to fund and offer Nigerians qualitative education.
Omole, who expressed pessimism about the ability of Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu to transform education stated that Adamu was not different from his employer.
He stated further that Adamu made several political statements in his first which he never acted upon.

Omole recall that Mallam Adamu Adamu had promised to declare State of Emergency in the Education sector but refused to act on his words. He lamented that Nigerian will not develop beyond the quality of education offered by the government to her citizens.
“He is back to a familiar terrain. We are also in that same terrain. He spent more than three years in his first term and made so many political statements, which were never implemented. One of such statements was the fact that they were going to declare state of emergency in the education sector and till he left office in his first term that was not done.
“In fact, there was no attempt towards that direction. Rather than moving towards declaring state of emergency, what we saw was further reduction in the budgetary allocation to education. I don’t think anyone should expect any radical change from what happened to education in his first term and from what is going to happen.
“The administration has demonstrated its hatred for education by constantly reducing the budgetary allocation to education. Most of their policies are anti-university. For example, in UI today, its almost impossible to recruit new staff meanwhile people are dying as a result of excess work and people are retiring and you are not employing new people.
“So, I don’t expect sharp departure from what it used to be. He does not need to tell us. We all know. All the developed world have been able to solve their problems through education and that is why we have always been engaging different governments that the only antidote to poverty is putting adequate attention to educating the masses. No nation can ever grow beyond the quality of education given to its citizens.
“Nobody will come from America to develop Nigeria. Nigeria can only be developed by Nigerians themselves and they can only develop if they have quality education to grow the economy. So it is not enough to make a political statement, you must follow it with action.”

Stop taking further loans – Expert warns Buhari over N24.3 trillion debt

Stop taking further loans – Expert warns Buhari over N24.3 trillion debt
[Image: PRESIDENT-MUHAMMADU-BUHARI-3.jpg]

An economic and investment consultant, Dr. Vincent Nwani, on Thursday warned the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari against taking further loans to the present external debt, which stood at N24.3 trillion.
DAILY POST gathered that the Director General, Debt Management Office (DMO), Patience Oniha, had in April while addressing a press conference in Abuja, declared that Nigeria’s total debt profile as of December 31, 2018, stands at N24.387tn. The figure rose by 12.25 per cent from N21.725tn in 2017 to N24.39tn in 2018.

But, Nwani, who gave analysis of the nation’s debt burden and the lackluster economy status of the country, said that the national GDP which is at 2.5 at the moment is too weak for development of the country.
Nwani, who is the immediate past Director of Advocacy at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), however, warned the present administration under Buhari against further debt.

Nwani while speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital at the South West Region’s edition of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Media Knowledge Development Event (MKDE) themed, “Nigeria in 2019: low growth Vs rising risks”, argued that borrowing for developmental projects was never a crime, he nonetheless added that the effect of the borrowing on the masses is the concern of the economic experts in the country.

According to him, Nigerian is felling the effect of the world currency crashes and the global trade growth which is pending at 0.5 percent in the first quarter of the year.
He blamed sleepy economic performance of the country on the challenges of insecurity facing the country, poor policies of the government, and poor tax collection in Nigeria.

He said; “In 2015, our external debt was N12. 1 trillion but before the end of 2018, it rose to N24.3 trillion. Though, I know it is never a crime to borrow money, but you must know what you are doing with the money you are borrowing. Today, no concrete project is going on in the country and we keep borrowing money. Today, our GDP is 2.5 which was above 6.0 few years ago. This is very weak for a country like Nigeria.

“You media practitioners need to challenge government on the new policy on loan for importation of food, especially milk. If you raise money to import without going through the CBN, when you get to port of entry, you will have problems.”
Nwani, who also disclosed that Nigeria’s economy is under invasions, warned that it may be worse if proper care is not taking to address the problem now, as he appealed to the federal government to tackle power generation issue, insecurity and make internet available at cheaper rates to all Nigerians.
“Nigeria economy is under all forms of invasions. And the way it is going, it will be worse. A small country like Morocco has been planning to do what they are doing now years ago. People should get money at the right time and WS should reduce the interest rate. At least let there be stable light.
“We are very vulnerable, our economy is very large because of our population. Our psychology is centered on enjoyment. The vehicle that is manufactured today, you will see that Nigerians are the first ten to buy it. Our governance level is now the worse. So, we are vulnerable. We are taking about technological invasion. Theresa May resigned, but nobody resign in Nigeria.
Nwani, while speaking on the recent closure of the Nigerian boarders, said the United States of America, despite the security challenge never closed its borders, urging Nigeria government to take a queue from the advanced economy of the world.

Graphic Photos) How I was attacked with machete and almost murdered for trying to settle a family dispute in Cross River State - Daniel Iwara shares touching story

Daniel Iwara, a native of Ugep in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State has just shared his near death experience in the hands of his kinsmen who almost killed him for trying to settle a family dispute.

According to him, 'I tried to explain to them but before I could say a word they both attacked me, I made to run out through the corridor to avoid the violence, yet they grabbed me while one of them used a machete on my head giving me a deep cut on my head. One of my guests waded in to stop the harm and he met the same fate as he was also macheted on the hand'.

See his full story below...

Quote:For everyone, going home while on a vacation to see your people, participate in the development of your community is always a thing of joy and something to look up to especially for those like us who have an opportunity once in a year to be there for our people but contrary to that, this is my story of blood and pains.
I am a native of Ugep in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State, a place I once thought was a peaceful place with loving people,  same I preached about to whoever cared to listen, every year a few of my friends after hearing my story about our renowned New Yam Festival, would always declare there intentions to join me and see the beauty of my culture as I always claimed it to be a period of peace and no single bloodshed. August 28th was a different story entirely for me as I barely escaped being killed out of hate and jealousy. Here is my story.
At about 9pm on the 28th August, 2019 on my way back to my house in my hometown, Ugep in Cross River State after witnessing the days new yam festival in the company of my friends who joined me from Uyo and Port Harcourt respectively to witness the new yam festival and also attend my grand father's burial scheduled for 7th September 2019 I received a call from my female cousin crying about her marital issues which has always been pertinent, I calmed her down and told her I would drop by and have a word with her husband since my father had not yet arrived being the one who has always being the hold of it, bringing settlements to their home.
On my way back in the company of three friends, two males and one female who are visitors to my place and I their host, alongside my younger brother who's a teen, stopped by my cousins house and she took me to see her husband in view of having a word with him. I greeted him appropriately and proceeded to inquire what is happening between himself and his wife, before I finished speaking with him, barely two statements were made when two men came out of a corridor shouting at me, asking why I am speaking with him and if my sister had called me to come beat him, I tried to explain to them but before I could say a word they both attacked me, I made to run out through the corridor to avoid the violence, yet they grabbed me while one of them used a machete on my head giving me a deep cut on my head. One of my guests waded in to stop the harm and he met the same fate as he was also macheted on the hand.
Next they chased my kid brother who was also there with the machetes and he took to his heels, I also ran through a short fence into am adjourning hotel owned by my Elder Cousin to seek for help as I was bleeding. He picked me in his car and picked up my visitors and took us to the police station while the assailants where there vandalizing my private car and also made away with my money in the car.

I had my cuts stitched at the general hospital and and I made an entry at the Divisional Police Station, Ugep where my car was also towed to.
The reason why I was attacked is still unclear as at this moment.
This is the security update am currently faced with. Attached are pictures of my vandalized vehicle.

In the wake of the xenophobic attacks on NIgerians living in South Africa, former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has described President Buhari as ''a weak leader, a chicken-hearted scarecrow, a toothless bulldog and a bloody coward''.

In his words, 'had it been Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, Murtala Mohammed, Sani Abacha, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida or Goodluck Jonathan there is NO way Nigerians will be slaughtered in South Africa without a real threat of war. Muhammadu Buhari has proved himself to be a weak leader, a chicken-hearted scarecrow, a toothless bulldog and a bloody coward!'.

He went on to say, 'If I were President of Nigeria no South African or South African company would feel safe in Nigeria at this point. Buhari will not be there forever and we have long memories! They will pay'.

Xenophobia: ‘MTN, DSTV, Shoprite should be closed’ – Orji Kalu calls for stiffer measures against South Africa

Orji Kalu, Chief Whip of the Senate, has condemned the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, describing it as ill conceived, disheartening and wicked.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Kunle Oyekunle of Orji Kalu Media Office, the former governor of Abia questioned the essence of the renewed attacks on Nigerians.

“The gruesome killings, looting, arson of property belonging to Nigerians and attack of Nigerian Embassy in South Africa is ill-conceived, disheartening and wicked.
“How can any sensible person attack and burn a fellow human being just because he or she has a feeling to do so?
“Those mindless criminals who attacked and prevented law abiding Nigerians to freely conduct their businesses must be made to pay for their crimes.

“Arresting them is not enough,’’ he stressed.
While emphasising that South Africans lived and carried out their businesses peacefully in Nigeria, Kalu said there would be no reason to allow them operate further if South African government failed to protect the lives of Nigerians.
“If the South African government fails to do more to protect the lives of Nigerians, there should be no reason to allow them to operate freely in Nigeria.

“All their enterprises deserve to be closed down including MTN, DSTV, Shoprite among others.
“In the spirit of brotherhood, we have supported them. Our doors have always been open, but it’s time to retaliate by shutting our doors,” he said
The Senate Chief Whip, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for dispatching a special envoy to the South African government.
He urged the Federal Government to hasten the intervention process and institute stiffer measures against South Africa over the endless xenophobic attacks.
Meanwhile, Mr Adetola Olubajo, President, Nigeria Union South Africa, said on Monday that the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg, when a building was set ablaze by an angry mob.
“The mob also looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals.
“But the police later dispersed the mob and made some arrests.
“Late in the evening of Sunday, Sept. 1, a group of violent locals, suspected to be Zulu hostel dwellers besieged Jules Street in Malvern, Johannesburg, looted and burnt shops and businesses with Nigerians being the most victims.
According to witnesses living on Jules Street, the Zulu hostel dwellers were very organised and well-coordinated in looting and burning of shops and businesses suspected to be owned by foreign nationals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that over 70 shops and businesses were destroyed, looted and burnt on Monday night in Malvern area of Johannesburg.

The Jaguars won’t have their biggest free agent addition of the offseason at Tuesday’s organized team activity and it’s not clear when quarterback Nick Foles will be back with the team. The team announced that Foles will not be at practice on Tuesday due to personal reasons. Head coach Doug Marrone didn’t elaborate Nick Bosa Jersey , but told reporters that “thoughts and prayers” are with Foles and his family. They also announced that there’s no timetable for his return to the team’s workouts, but Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports he could be back by the end of the week.2018 sixth-rounder Tanner Lee, 2019 sixth-rounder Gardner Minshew and Alex McGough will be the quarterbacks in Jacksonville until Foles is back with the team.Foles signed a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars in free agency after spending the last two seasons with the Eagles. Executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin recently praised Foles for his presence and noted he’s “out there working just like everybody else is out there working.” For at least one day, that won’t be the case and the Jaguars surely hope that Foles is back on the field soon. With Alex Smith recovering from last season’s severe leg injury L.J. Collier Jersey , Washington is heading into the season with Case Keenum and Colt McCoy as the two quarterbacks on the roster.Given the uncertainty about Smith’s future and the fact that neither of the other quarterbacks fit the bill as a player to build around for the future, there’s been some speculation about whether the team will draft a quarterback in the first round.Head coach Jay Gruden didn’t rule that out when asked about the possibility during this week’s league meetings, but he also didn’t make it sound like anything close to a sure thing. Gruden said “you can’t reach for the quarterback of the future” and suggested that the team won’t be willing to put up with any growing pains from a young player.“There is no developmental process here. This is not Triple-A baseball where we’re trying to develop a pitcher here,” Gruden said, via the team’s website. “We’re trying to win a game right now. If we feel like we draft a quarterback in the first http://www.seahawkscheapshops.com/cheap-...air-jersey , second, third or seventh round and he’s going to start Day 1, we expect great things from him and the players will expect great things from him. Ryan Kerrigan is not expecting us to come out and just build for the future; we’ve got to win now. Josh Norman, same way. Landon Collins didn’t come here to be good in 2034. They came here to be good and compete and win a Super Bowl this year. So whoever that player is, that position of quarterback D.K. Metcalf Jersey , high expectations for us from us. That’s the way it’s going to be.”Patrick Mahomes‘ success with the Chiefs has had the Giants and others cite the “Kansas City model” as one to follow at quarterback, but the Chiefs were coming off a playoff berth when they selected Mahomes. Winning now for Washington will likely require more immediate contributions from their first-round pick and that may lead them elsewhere unless they think there’s a sure thing for their starting lineup.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 4TH SEPTEMBER.

GET YOUR EMOTIONS INVOLVED

…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months (James 5:16-17).

Some people pray absent-mindedly, without their emotions, and it’s one of the reasons their prayers are ineffective. Notice our opening scripture; it talks about Elijah praying in a heartfelt, emotive manner; he was passionate.

Not many realize that it’s okay to get emotional with the Lord, because He’s got emotions too. The Bible says, “He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh…” (Psalm 2:4). Laughter is an emotion. Joy is an emotion, and God expresses His joy (Zephaniah 3:17). Therefore, in prayer, it’s okay to focus your mind on Him and express your love lavishly and passionately.

When you get your emotions involved in prayer, your spirit is conditioned in a way that’s receptive to the Holy Spirit. At that moment, your mind is channelled to your purpose of prayer and attentive. Recall that the Bible says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3). Learn to stay your mind and emotions on the Lord in prayer!

If, while you’re praying, your mind strays to other thoughts, consciously get it back to focus on the Lord and the subject matter. On the other hand, if you’re praying in tongues or praying without a particular subject, you can still keep your mind and emotions on the Lord and let your spirit or the Holy Spirit bring forth words or thoughts to your consciousness at that time.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege and honour to pray and receive answers. Even now, my mind is completely yielded to you, with my thoughts and words synchronized with your Spirit, in earnest supplication and worship, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

4TH SEPTEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, thank You for the wonderful privilege of being Your child and the inheritance that’s mine in Christ. I am so glad that in Christ I am divinely positioned and enabled to influence my world with Your grace and impart hope to the hopeless. I walk in the prearranged paths which You made ready for me before the foundations of the world.

I am guided by Your Spirit to walk in wisdom and understanding, filled with the thoughts of righteousness. I am guided and regulated by the Word, today and always. Hallelujah! Thank You, for lifting me up as a source of hope to the world.
Thank You for loving me, and depositing Your love in my heart by Your Holy Spirit. I make a deliberate choice to let that love radiate through me to others today. I refuse to walk in bitterness, hatred or malice, but choose to walk in love because I am the love-child of a love-God! I manifest the love of the Father in all things and in every situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

There were 254 players selected during the seven rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft and all of them have now agreed to contracts with the teams that selected them.49ers third-round pick Deebo Samuel was the last one without a deal Michael Jordan Jersey , but there were multiple reports that he has agreed to terms on Thursday afternoon. 49ers first-round pick Nick Bosa and Jets first-round pick Quinnen Williams had agreed to deals of their own a little bit earlier in the day.Williams didn’t sign in time for the first practice of Jets camp, but Bosa and Samuel should be on the field with the Niners on Saturday.Samuel caught 62 passes for 882 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season at South Carolina. Samuel also returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the fourth time in his time with the Gamecocks. The 49ers also drafted Jalen Hurd in the third round and signed Jordan Matthews as a free agent in their offseason bid to improve their receiving corps ahead of what’s shaping up to be a big season for the current regime. Vanderbilt University lost their 2018 special teams coach Shawn Mennenga when he took a job running the special teams for the Packers and they’ll replace him with a coach who was most recently with a different NFC North team. The school announced that Devin Fitzsimmons will be their new special teams coach. Fitzsimmons will also be the tight ends coach on Derek Mason’s staff in Nashville.“We are very fortunate to bring Devin Fitzsimmons on board at Vanderbilt http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/au...row-jersey ,” Mason said in a statement. “Devin has tremendous expertise in all areas of special teams, and has coached some with some of the NFL’s top specialists while on staff at Detroit. His resume also includes a successful tenure working with Lions tight ends and several years as a collegiate offensive coach.”Fitzsimmons opened last season as the assistant special teams coach in Detroit Zach Brown Jersey , but took on more responsibilities after the team fired special teams coach Joe Marciano in November. He was with the team since the 2014 season and, as Mason noted Shareef Miller Jersey , also worked with tight ends for some of his Lions tenure. The Lions hired John Bonamego as their new special teams coach this offseason.

At least 53 persons were killed in violent attacks and 73 kidnapped across Nigeria in August.
The data also showed that the number of people killed in violent attacks in August reduced compared to what was obtained in previous months.
At least 353 persons were killed in violent attacks across Nigeria in June, media and police reports showed. About 60 other persons were kidnapped for ransom across the country that same month
In July, at least 282 persons were killed while at least 97 others were kidnapped for ransom across the country.

‘Katsina Leads’

The home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, Katsina, led other states in the number of kidnapped victims in August.
At least 50 persons were kidnapped and four others killed in Katsina State in August.
Majority of the kidnappings in Katsina occurred when bandits attacked Wurma, a border community near Zamfara State. At least 49 people were kidnapped in that attack.

The kidnap cases in Katsina were thus more than half of the total 73 reported across the country.

The victims of violent attacks included police officers and civilians
At least two police officers were killed when the convoy of Nasarawa’s deputy governor was attacked.
More police officers were killed when soldiers attacked police officers on covert duty in Taraba State. The soldiers freed Hamisu Wadume, an alleged notorious kidnapper, in the process.
Mr Wadume was later rearrested by the police.

Overall, in August, Benue State had the highest number of reported killings with at least nine people killed. Taraba State followed with at least eight persons killed.
This was followed by Kaduna State with the death of six persons while 12 others were kidnapped in the state.
Five people were killed in Ogun and four in each of Katsina and Nasarawa states.
At least three people each were confirmed killed in Borno, Rivers, Kogi and Lagos states.
Two individuals lost their lives in Enugu while seven others were kidnapped in separate attacks. Two others were killed in Ondo and Edo states.

One was killed in Anambra and Abia respectively. One person each was kidnapped in Adamawa, Edo, Sokoto, Imo, and Abuja.
Speaking on the reduction in the number of people killed, a security expert, Kazeem Olanrewaju, told PREMIUM TIMES that the government is making progress in combating insecurity.
He, however, said his worry lies in the killings occurring between security officials.

JACKSONVILLE Rashan Gary Jersey , Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have released Barry Church, a safety who was benched last month but who started 27 consecutive games over two seasons. The Jaguars (4-9) made the move Friday and activated offensive tackle Josh Wells from injured reserve.Church was benched following a loss at Buffalo last month and was inactive last week at Tennessee. Rookie Ronnie Harrison replaced him in the starting lineup. The Jaguars decided to cut Church loose and let him try to sign elsewhere for rest of the season. He has 572 tackles and 10 interceptions in nine seasons. Church spent the first seven years of his NFL career with Dallas. He signed a four-year, $26 million contract with Jacksonville in 2017.The Jaguars also placed offensive tackle Josh Walker on injured reserve and promoted defensive lineman Lyndon Johnson from the practice squad. They also waived tight end Niles Paul (non-football injury) from injured reserve. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The Chicago Bears weren’t about to let a late hit on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky go unanswered, and Richard Sherman wasn’t going to let the Bears retaliate against San Francisco teammate Marcell Harris without a fight. When the melee ended following Harris’ late hit in Sunday’s 14-9 win for the Bears over the 49ers http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/au...jr.-jersey , three players were ejected and neither team was happy.“These are my guys. I don’t care at the end of the day what the deal is. You going to do all that, you let him go,” Sherman said. “And it took too long for them to let him go. So I went in there to grab him and they continued to pull and drug and grab on me. I’m a grown man with kids. I don’t have to care about any of that. At the end of the day, they’re going to be punched for it.”The scuffle started after Trubisky scrambled on third down and went into a slide near the Chicago sideline. Harris came over from his safety position and hit Trubisky late, sending the quarterback’s head into the ground. The Bears (11-4) predictably took exception and got in Harris’ face.“I just saw Mitch’s head hit the ground real hard. It was an unnecessary hit Elgton Jenkins Jersey ,” receiver Anthony Miller said. “He already missed a couple of games because of a late hit. When I see that, it’s dirty football.”The 49ers (4-11) predictably saw the play a different way with Harris saying there was no ill intent on the hit.“You’re playing full, you’re playing all out, lights out every play and some of those plays might happen every now and then where, with new rules and how everything is http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/au...ger-jersey , I feel like I tried to let up as much as I can,” he said. “But it’s not in my hands. It’s in the refs’ hands.”Harris was immediately surrounded by several Bears players, leading Sherman to come in the middle of it to try to get his teammate out safely. That led to the scrum where punches were thrown by players on both teams. After a lengthy huddle by the officials and consultation with the replay center in New York, referee Alex Kemp announced that Sherman, Miller and Bears receiver Joshua Bellamy were all ejected.Niners coach Kyle Shanahan gave Sherman a handshake after getting the news that his star cornerback would finish the game in the locker room.“I just told him I appreciated how he battled today Dexter Williams Jersey ,” Shanahan said. “I don’t know what happened over there and Sherm, very clearly to me, was trying to get this brother’s back and I love for guys to do it as much as they can.”Trubisky said he felt the same way about his teammates, who stood up for him following the hit.“It didn’t surprise me,” he said. “I saw exactly what I knew. My teammates had my back all the way Max Scharping Jersey , which is awesome to see. We just have to have my back and be smart as a team because we can’t afford to lose two guys like that.”

The Dolphins gave running back Mark Walton a second chance http://www.losangelesramsteamonline.com/...son-jersey , notwithstanding the fact that he has three pending criminal cases and that, at best, he’ll be No. 3 on the depth chart this season.Walton’s on-field and off-field worlds will collide this week, with a hearing in one of the prosecutions happening on the same day as the team’s mandatory minicamp.Via Adam H. Beasley of the http://www.minnesotavikingsteamonline.co...jr.-jersey , Walton won’t be missing practice for Wednesday hearing in his arrest on misdemeanor marijuana charges. “I will be appearing in court for Mr. Walton,” attorney Michael Gottlieb told Beasley. “He’s in constant contact with my offices. He’s an [exceptional] athlete, and I’d like to see him practice and resume his normal life as we litigate these unfortunate cases.”On Monday, a hearing will happen in a misdemeanor battery case pending against Walton http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/d...nce-jersey , the first of three offseason arrests that eventually prompted the Bengals to cut the 2018 fourth-round draft pick. In that case, Walton stands accused grabbing a cell phone from a woman during a traffic dispute. The one case that won’t go to court this week is by far the most troubling of the three. Walton facesfelony charges of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest without violence, marijuana possession http://www.oaklandraidersteamonline.com/...obs-jersey , and reckless driving. The incident culminated in high-speed pursuit followed by a footrace that included Walton being tased and then getting up and continuing to run away from police.Miami’s decision to embrace Walton is every bit as confusing as Oakland’s recent decision to sign Richie Incognito. Usually, only significant football talent earns a second chance. As to both Walton and Incognito, it’s fair to question whether they’re good enough to get the special treatment that usually is reserved for star players.Like Incognito, Walton surely is facing a suspension from the league office for his trifecta of arrests Ben Banogu Jersey , regardless of how the incidents are resolved by the courts. The Jaguars are talking about getting creative to make fans more comfortable during hot and sunny home games.Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he’s seen proposals to use drone-powered “artificial clouds” that may be used over stadiums in Qatar during the 2022 World Cup, carrying shades over stadiums and casting large shadows onto the fans to make the seating areas cooler. Khan would like to see if he can do it in Jacksonville as well.“It’s very futuristic but it could be very cost-effective only on the days you need it,” Khan said, via . “I don’t know how feasible it is Parris Campbell Jersey , but as an engineer when I saw it I thought boy that would work very well for us.”It is unclear whether the technology has ever actually been deployed anywhere, or whether it is just an idea. There are obvious questions about noise and safety that would have to be answered. But Khan is open to trying something new.

Dak Prescott accepted the challenge. The Dallas quarterback threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Tavon Austin on the third play of the game and the Cowboys sacked Eli Manning six times in a 20-13 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday night. The Dallas defense was strong again Jordan Scarlett Jersey , just as in an opening loss at Carolina, as the Cowboys (1-1) avoided the first 0-2 start in seven seasons under coach Jason Garrett.Manning and the Giants have started 0-2 for the fifth time in the past six seasons. After saying “challenge accepted” during the week to Giants safety Landon Collins‘ suggestion that New York had a better chance by forcing Prescott to throw, the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year hit Austin in stride behind cornerback Janoris Jenkins. The speedy receiver cut back to his right before trotting across the goal line at an angle.“We definitely hear that,” Prescott said. “I kind of said the challenge accepted, I said I accepted it. But I can tell you I wasn’t the only one who accepted that challenge. This team accepted it. That offense accepted it. We wanted to go out there and just show you guys.”Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott outgained Saquon Barkley in the first meeting in the pros between the former college rivals and high NFL draft picks. Elliott, who starred at Ohio State, rushed for 78 yards with a touchdown. Barkley, from Penn State, had just 28.Even Prescott outrushed Barkley, finishing with a career-high 45 yards on the ground while throwing for 160.Brett Maher had the first two field goals of his NFL career, including a 29-yarder after Damien Wilson forced a fumble on a sack of Manning and Taco Charlton recovered. The Cowboys shared the wealth on the sacks Jonah Williams Jersey , with six different players recording a sack apiece: the linebacker Wilson, safety Kavon Frazier and defensive linemen Charlton, DeMarcus Lawrence, Antwaun Woods and Tyrone Crawford.“He’s been in this league for a long time, he can read defenses, and to shake him up a little bit is always good,” Crawford said. The Giants had questions with the offensive front, and they’ll only grow after Manning finished two sacks shy of the most in his career. New York also lost center Jon Halapio, who was carted off with an air cast on his right leg in the third quarter.Manning converted a pair of fourth downs on sneaks, but the sacks helped keep the Giants from converting those into points. He was even hammered when he wasn’t behind the line of scrimmage — on a hit by linebacker Jaylon Smith on a 1-yard gain before New York’s first points on Aldrick Rosas‘ 28-yard field goal late in the third quarter.“Eli’s confident,” coach Pat Shurmur said. “He’s a pro and he battled throughout the game and I thought he did a good job. I sense confidence http://www.bengalscheapshop.com/cheap-au...ple-jersey , yes.”Prescott fooled the New York defense several times with fake handoffs to Elliott on keepers around end. The longest was a 15-yarder on Dallas’ second possession, leading to Maher’s first NFL field goal from 37 yards. For the second straight week, the Giants didn’t get a touchdown until the fourth quarter. New York made it interesting when Michael Thomas recovered an onside kick after Manning’s 18-yard scoring pass to Evan Engram with 1:27 remaining. The Giants settled for Rosas’ 38-yard field goal to get within a touchdown with 11 seconds remaining, but the next onside kick went out of bounds.Manning finished 33 of 44 for 279 yards. Austin had two catches and led Dallas with 79 yards receiving.AIR TIMEAlthough Barkley was stifled in the running game, he led everybody with 14 catches for 80 yards. Odell Beckham Jr. had four grabs for 51 yards. Engram added seven for 67. “They just did a good job just getting some pressure and not getting a whole lot of time to get the ball down the field,” Manning said.STILL TOUGH SLEDDINGThe quick strike in the passing game still didn’t make life very easy on Elliott. He struggled to find much room outside of a 19-yarder on the second scoring drive. The touchdown was a churning 6-yard run for a 20-3 lead with 5:45 remaining.DELAYED DEBUTDallas tight end Rico Gathers was active for the first time in his third NFL season. The former Baylor basketball player was open in the end zone on one play, but Prescott overthrew him when pressure came. Gathers was targeted twice without a catch.INJURIESGiants: Punt returner Kaelin Clay injured an ankle in the second quarter and didn’t return. He had another adventurous moment a week after his late muff cost the Giants a chance to rally against Jacksonville. He was indecisive on a punt, which bounced in front of and straight into him. Prescott leads Cowboys by NFC East rival Giants 20-13Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports | Tim Heitman PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Nick Foles is in a unique situation, a Super Bowl MVP trying to lead his team to a second straight championship knowing he will most likely play somewhere else next season.Nothing about what Foles has done for the Philadelphia Eagles is ordinary.“I’m not worried about the future but I understand where I stand and every time I wear that jersey is special,” Foles said Wednesday. “We get one more week together Germaine Pratt Jersey , at least.”The Eagles (10-7) face the New Orleans Saints (13-3) in a NFC divisional playoff game on Sunday thanks to Foles’ heroics in the clutch again. He filled in when Carson Wentz sustained a knee injury in 2017 and led the Eagles to their first NFL title since 1960, going 5-0 in games that he started and finished.Foles returned to the starting lineup after a back injury sidelined Wentz last month and has led the Eagles to four straight wins, including a 16-15 comeback victory at Chicago in the wild-card round. Facing the NFL’s stingiest defense, Foles tossed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate on fourth down with 56 seconds remaining. But no matter how far Foles can take the Eagles, it probably won’t change his standing on the team. Wentz is the franchise quarterback. He finished third in NFL MVP voting in his second season as a pro. He returned quickly after surgery to repair two torn knee ligaments, started 11 games and posted career highs in completion rate (69.6 percent) and passer rating (102.2) despite battling inconsistency and injury.“He’s the guy we drafted and moving forward, he’s our quarterback,” coach Doug Pederson said, repeating the same thought several times. The Eagles must decide by mid-February if they want to exercise a $20 million option to keep Foles for 2019. That’s a big price to pay a backup, though Wentz is scheduled to make a base salary of $720,000 next season with a salary cap total of about $8.5 million. If the team declines the option http://www.bengalscheapshop.com/cheap-au...ley-jersey , Foles becomes a free agent. If the option is picked up, Foles has five days to choose whether to accept it or void it and pay back a $2 million signing bonus. Philadelphia could elect to exercise the option and trade Foles. His salary would become fully guaranteed on March 18, the fifth day of the league year.Wentz is under team control through 2020 and the Eagles could offer him a new long-term deal now before his asking price skyrockets.Although it’s not a debate within the organization, Foles vs. Wentz has dominated conversation among fans and sports talkers.Foles has already won a Super Bowl and he’s 25-12 as a starter in Philadelphia, going back to his first stint with the team from 2012-14. He has the highest winning percentage (.676) in franchise history. While outsiders argue the merits of both, it has not been uncomfortable for two talented quarterbacks who are close friends and share a special bond.“Both guys are brothers in Christ first and foremost so that’s a big part of their relationship,” Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz said.“They understand that football is not the most important thing to them so they relate extremely well in many other things. They’re extremely happy for the other guy’s success.“You don’t find that everywhere. You don’t find that very often on the same team let alone the same position, but that is what’s different about this team. Guys truly care about one another and are happy for the other man’s success.”

The Dallas Cowboys wrapped up the NFC East title when Dak Prescott accounted for two touchdowns and Jaylon Smith returned a fumble 69 yards for a score in a 27-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Smith’s long return came after a scrambling Jameis Winston lost the ball on a blind-side sack by Randy Gregory http://www.jaguarscheapstore.com/quincy-...rsey-cheap , who also recovered a fumble to set up a touchdown for a 14-point lead late in the third quarter. The Cowboys (9-6) clinched the division title and their second trip to the playoffs in three years with Prescott and star running back Ezekiel Elliott a week after failing in their first chance with their first shutout loss in 15 years, 23-0 at Indianapolis. Winston threw for 336 yards in another prolific passing game for the Buccaneers (5-10), who outgained the Cowboys 383-232 but hurt themselves with turnovers and holding penalties. He threw a 4-yard score to rookie Michael Gallup after Gregory’s recovery, which came when Winston and Bobo Wilson botched the exchange on a handoff to the receiver. Winston’s 7-yard pass to Mike Evans got the Bucs within a touchdown with 2:05 remaining, but Dallas linebacker Leighton Vander Esch recovered the onside kick. Evans had six catches for 90 yards, and Adam Humphries had 10 grabs for 79 yards. With a chance to get within a touchdown earlier in the fourth quarter, Winston was stopped about half a yard short of the first down at the Dallas 1 on a fourth-down scramble.RUSHING RACEElliott, the NFL rushing leader by 98 yards over Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams coming in, had 85 yards on 18 carries and 24 yards receiving on five catches. The only thing coach Zac Taylor would say is that Williams got “a little dinged up” and the extent of the injury is being determined. A Bengals representative cut off questions to Williams on Wednesday about his status.“Just doing what I can right now,” said Williams, who occasionally stretched his back while watching practice in the afternoon. The 11th overall pick is the biggest addition to a line that’s been the main focus in the offseason. They also took guard Michael Jordan in the fourth round. It’s undecided where Cordy Glenn — last year’s left tackle — will eventually line up. Glenn hasn’t played guard since college. Also, they gave right tackle Bobby Hart a three-year extension and signed guard John Miller from the Bills to a three-year deal. The Bengals were hoping to get Williams a lot of practice time during minicamp to get him ready to be a starter. Green was limited to individual drills during minicamp, but showed no lingering issues with his surgically repaired toe. Taylor said the Bengals are going easy with Green, who missed nearly half of last season with a torn ligament in the right big toe.“I’ll be ready for training camp,” Green said Wednesday. “Yesterday was the first time I got to participate with some team stuff, but it felt good. I’m not sore or anything.”The Bengals are learning their third different offense in three seasons. Green’s biggest challenge is getting down the timing of the new pass routes.“We have a couple different routes I haven’t run before, so training camp is going to be big for me just to get out there, everything is live with the defense going Dwayne Haskins Jersey , so it will be good,” he said.HIGH ATTENDANCETaylor was pleased with participation in the offseason workouts, including the voluntary sessions. The mandatory minicamp ends on Thursday.“For the most part, we’ve had almost 100 percent attendance this offseason,” Taylor said. “A guy has missed here or there, but there’s been no one that’s missed a significant amount of time. BALTIMORE — The resilient Los Angeles Angels can finish a three-game sweep of the struggling Baltimore Orioles on Sunday at Camden Yards.
Los Angeles won the opener 7-1 on Friday and beat the Orioles 6-2 on a sweltering Saturday afternoon.
The Angels entered the series on a six-game losing streak http://www.cowboyscheapauthenticstore.co...rsey-cheap , but will leave Baltimore very much alive in the American League wild-card race.
On Saturday, Mike Scioscia managed his 3,000th regular-season game for the Angels, not that he has kept count.
“You don’t think about it,” said Scioscia, who has been with the club since 2000 and is 1,613-1,387 (.538 winning percentage). “It’s 3 Connor McGovern Jersey ,000, one game at a time.”
The Orioles have lost seven straight and fell to 0-15 against AL West opponents. Manager Buck Showalter vows the team will keep fighting and try to find bright spots.
“It’s been tougher on our fans and our players. I don’t look at it that way,” said Showalter, whose team has lost 17 of 18 at home. “All things considered, it’s an unbelievable way to do something you love and be able to pay the bills with it.”
Deck McGuire (0-0, 6.08 ERA) will start for the Angels in place of John Lamb, who had an MRI on his left elbow that revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Lamb will undergo UCL reconstruction surgery in Los Angeles.
The Angels have seven starting pitchers on the disabled list.
As a result, they will be leaning on McGuire to help stabilize the rotation. However Khari Willis Jersey , he has made only two previous major league starts among his 12 appearances and has never faced Baltimore.
Los Angeles had a positive development with phenom Shohei Ohtani, who hit in a simulated game Saturday at Angel Stadium. Ohtani has a Grade 2 sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow. The team is hoping he can avoid Tommy John surgery.
“There definitely be a consensus from the medical staff on how he feels,” Scioscia said. “We’ll see if he has enough velocity to go out there and play.”
Ohtani underwent stem-cell therapy and received a platelet-rich plasma injection to heal a damaged ligament. He was given the OK to begin batting practice Thursday.
Kevin Gausman (3-6, 4.20 ERA) is looking to help pull the Orioles from their doldrums. However, he lost his last four decisions and has not completed seven innings in any of his last eight starts.
In his last outing, Gausman was solid in earning a no-decision, allowing one run and five hits in six innings of a 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners. He was effective managing his pitch count throughout the game.
“That’s huge,” he said. “Kind of seems like that’s what I do every start lately is kind of get in jams the first inning Josh Allen Jersey , throw a lot of pitches. It’s always big to kind of bounce back and have a quick inning.”
Gausman is 1-3 with a 5.97 ERA in five starts against the Angels.
Baltimore also received some bad news on the injury front. Reliever Darren O’Day opted to have season-ending surgery on his injured left hamstring. The recovery time is six months, according to Showalter.
O’Day also missed more than a month with a hyperextended elbow. The sidearmer is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA in 20 games this season. He was placed on the 60-day disabled list Friday.
Showalter said O’Day has not yet finalized the time and place of the procedure.
The Saints wrapped up home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs when they came back to beat the Steelers on Sunday afternoon, which means that their Week 17 game against the Panthers won’t carry any weight on where they’ll land in the postseason. In those situations, coaches are always asked about whether they are going to rest key players in order to ensure they are as healthy as possible for the first playoff game. Saints head coach Sean Payton got that question on Monday.Payton said that the team will approach the game like any regular season game and that they’ll try to win to end the year with a 14-2 record. As noted by multiple reporters on the Saints beat, however, Payton didn’t say that every starter was going to be part of that effort.Payton could determine that backups could handle doing what’s needed to defeat a beaten-up Panthers team. If that’s the case, there’s a chance Teddy Bridgewater starts at quarterback for the first time since the 2015 season.

Why do so many watch brands have liberals as ambassadors? After all, the dive watch has been used for decades to track the minimum time passed, while the person wearing it breathes compressed air, especially to avoid excessive decompression without decompression restrictions or time stops. However, over the years, we have seen many brands advertise their relationship with Carlos Oster, Herbert Nikki (Breitling), Guillaume Neri (ball and now Panerai), Tanya Streeter (Hoya Watch), Tudor (Morgan Burke) and other apnea relationships. His) of course Jacques Mayol (Omega). At first glance, this seems illogical. After all, free diving involves a deep breath, in which the risk of decompression sickness is negligible and the elapsed time is usually less than a few minutes. Freedivers is also proud of their sporty minimalism. Scuba diving is about equipment - heavy tanks, buoyancy vests and regulators - Free diving requires only one of the most basic masks, if you are not the kind of ascetic, it may be a diving suit and a set of fins. I suspect that most free people are even too lazy to take a look at the underwater time, not to mention wearing a watch.

The answer to my own question is probably because, because few people actually use watches for scuba diving, watch companies can also look for their underwater wrist models from more beautiful sports. Scuba diving is complicated, cumbersome hoses and belts are messy. Free diving is fashion and sporty, and the human body is elegantly contoured against blue. There is a purity form suitable for well-designed watches and stripping basic concepts - fins, masks, replica watches for sale - to attract everyone from avid water sports enthusiasts to tropical vacationers, not to mention chaos and mysterious "rules" and scuba Diving training.

The latest luxury brand is Ulysse Nardin, who wears the latest Diver Chronometer watch with the Belgian Fred Buyle. I was recently invited to the United Nations Riviera to experience the UN's new triple diving watch, meet Fred Buyle and do some free diving in the Mediterranean.
Just last year, in Bermuda, I had the opportunity to dive. With the previous iteration of the Ulysse diving watch, the Marine Diver (Artemis Racing Edition uniform) and the new Diver Chronometer did not deviate from its predecessor. Still the iconic bezel with oversized bezel riding label, power reserve and small seconds hand, and a rubber strap with a unique integrated metal chain. However, it has been simplified, simplified and cleaned up. The corrugated dial and the Skeleton pointer no longer exist. The concave bezel is bolder and more sporty, the crystal is dome-shaped, and the rubber strap has a fold-over buckle that facilitates a simpler, more "dive-friendly" pin buckle. It's more about evolution than revolution, and Ulysse is smart enough to not reinvent a design that has already been approved.

Available in three versions: the "standard" version of the blue or black dial, the limited edition of the Monaco Yacht Show (black finish, gold bezel and crown), and the all-white "Diver Great White" limited edition. These watches are all made of a 44 mm titanium case and are driven by an internal UN-118 movement. In addition to the Great White version, the sapphire bottom cover is visible, with the watch's eponymous Carcharodon carcharias engraved on the back. The chronograph-certified self-winding movement has 60 hours of power reserve and powerful diamagnetic performance thanks to the silicon balance.U-BOAT watches replica

Among the new Ulysse divers, I found the blue and black versions to be the most attractive. Although they all have the same basic form and movement, in my opinion, simpler forms and actions work best. Titanium is a smart choice for diving watches, especially 44mm, which pushes the size limit. The concave bezel and dome crystal are hints of old-fashioned divers, although overall it is a refreshing diver's watch in the ocean of "traditional" retro rivals. I once thought about the purpose of integrating metal connections on the rubber band, but after wearing it for a while, I realized that it clearly expressed it through the bone side of the wrist. Many thick rubber bands from luxury divers can be scratched in this place, but Ulysse divers are very comfortable. In other words, I can't engrave extra brands, especially the cheesy sharks and "Monaco" found on the limited edition. Equally unpleasant is the “Great White” on the white limited edition dial, whose engraving on the back of the case reminds me of a shark that is smiling in “The Story of the Sea”.

I have done some free diving in the past, but I am more comfortable to explore the underwater world with tanks on my back. My past experience has learned the details of this sport from people who are much better than me (Carlos Coste, Morgan Bourc'his) in yoga relaxation, breathing techniques and body posture courses, all for a deeper Aggravated ropes that push personal restrictions. But Fred Bury was once a world record for an athletic diver, and he took more Zen methods. He left the competition for the sport and focused more on using free diving as an unobtrusive underwater adventure, interacting with marine animals, most notably sharks, and as a silent shot of underwater photography. The means, all of which are noisy scuba exhales. It's refreshing because it's the way most of us mortals are free to detect the coral head 10 or 20 feet when snorkeling, for example, without the depth mark of chasing the world record.Rado Centrix Coupole Diamonds R22852703

In the Mediterranean Sea near Antibes, not far from Jacques Cousteau's first immersion of his toes in the "silent world", I made a duck diving deal with Buyle and dropped to 25 feet of seaweed. Bed so you can see tiny schools. Fishing through the mottled sunlight filtered down. I wore a diving suit to resist the autumn water, offset the buoyancy, and a weight belt with enough lead made me sink, but not enough to make it difficult to float on the water. I wore a blue Diver Chronometer and took a few eyes under the water to assess its legibility. But let's not deceive ourselves. The advantages of most luxury dive watches are now a beautiful companion that can survive where you wear it.

At the press conference of the trip, Ulysse Nardin CEO Patrick Priniaux (a keen diver himself) asked what the Buyle watch was for a free diver. Buyle said that the minimalism of mechanical watches is very attractive to him. He didn't wear a digital dive computer and said that the second hand scan is closer to mimicking the passage of underwater time. Practice the sound bite? Maybe. However, I can be associated with Buyle's emotions, which are slightly less practical. We watch fans like to wear divers because it allows us to take our passion, our hobbies, anywhere, even in the harsh environment under the Aral Sea. Although there are pressures around it, humans are smart, dry and safe capsules. When the lungs begin to burn carbon dioxide, a 30-foot underwater diving mask will look calm when you sweep the hand.https://www.bestluxurysale.com

Ulysse Nardin chose to launch a new diving watch in the Mediterranean to coincide with the Monaco Yacht Show, the annual yacht show at the world's most famous marina. On the second day after the dive, I was staring at the pier. For a multi-million dollar vessel, the tender may cost more than my house. This is the right place to launch a new watch. Although the Diver Chronometer is more sporty for UN's underwater watches, it still feels more like a “dress diver”, more suitable for holding a cocktail on a tanned arm on a teak deck on a stylish yacht. Mark the shark on the set instead of tied to the wetsuit.

When I strolled through the 300-foot yacht and valued the nine-figure price, I met a low-profile tugboat with a rusted oil drum, derrick and coiled wire on the aft deck. In the pier of Ulysse Nardins, it feels inappropriate, it is a work boat between the idle rich, Seiko diving watch. To be honest, my taste tends to tend to be more "blue-collar" divers, world citizens Aqualands and Doxas, their decorative borders, depth gauges and corrugated rubber bands, but in Monaco, I can see some more refined things. Attractive. As the definition of the diving watch changes, there is a wide variety of spaces, and the Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer may not be tied to my dry diving suit for the next Great Lakes wreck diving, I can respect it to expand The range of my favorite watch types.luxury Urwerk Watches

You are just like those people killing other Africans- Juliet Ibrahim slams Daddy Freeze for calling Nigerian celebrities hypocrites for 'ignoring' Xenophobic attacks

Juliet Ibrahim lashed out at Daddy Freeze over his comment of Nigerian celebrities being hypocrites for ignoring the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Daddy Freeze had recalled how Nigerian celebrities stood up for Busola Dakolo when her rape allegation against COZA founder Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, saturated news platforms even without any glaring evidence. Affirming that he has always known many celebrities are hypocrites, the Cool FM media personality added that regular people and not those in power are hypocrites.

Juliet Ibrahim who reacted to the post, accused Daddy Freeze of also being a hypocrite. The Ghanaian actress stated that the people attacking other Africans in South Africa are not on his Instagram page, neither will they watch his YouTube channel or videos.

Urging Daddy Freeze to change his mentality, Juliet stated that his Instagram post shows he is 'just like those barbaric people killing and attacking their fellow Africans because of inferiority complex'.

She wrote;

Quote:@marvyenterprise ?? maybe because he thinks posting Instagram videos and photos will solve the problems! @daddyfreezeyou are a hypocrite as well. The people attacking other Africans living in SA are not on your Instagram page! Wake up! TheSe people wont come and watch your YouTube channel or videos! They don’t know who you are! Instead of ranting on Instagram please use your wisdom and start within your own capable means to first of all stop practicing the same xenophobic behavior against your fellow celebrities! With this your post you have just proven to be just like those barbaric people killing and attacking their fellow Africans because of inferiority complex!
You are no different from them when you choose to attack celebrities instead of going about it peacefully! This is all you people know; trending hashtags with no actions! What about daddy freeze gathering all celebrities and the general public to protest or march to each African country presidential villa first to ask governments to do something about this ongoing issue? Why don’t you start instead of attacking ur own colleagues? Africans are Africa’s problems!
Change your mentality! Stop waiting around for someone else to start or lead before you get up and fight for your rights or yourself! Be a leader not a trend setter or a follower! Stop looking for who to blame for your problems! Celebrities are not your problem! African leaders that have ignored and played blind to the situation are and should be our targets and any form of rants because your hashtags on Instagram doesn’t make any damn difference. Wake up and go out there with your free sheeple community and start the protest or walk needed to gain recognition from the right people that will stand up for all Africans being attacked in South Africa.

Femi Fani-Kayode Reacts To Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa

If I Were Nigerian President, South African Companies Won’t Feel Safe” – FFK

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that if he were president of Nigeria, no South African company would feel safe at this time.

Mr Fani-Kayode said this on Twitter on Tuesday in reaction to xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

He said: “Look at what Buhari has reduced us to! The South Africans will pay dearly for this affront! If I were President of Nigeria no South African or South African company would feel safe in Nigeria at this point. Buhari will not be there forever and we have long memories! They WILL pay!”

The recent attacks began last week after a taxi driver was murdered by an alleged drug dealer in Pretoria.

Speculations that the alleged killer was a Nigerian sparked protest, looting and burning of business centres owned by foreigners.

Three Nigerians were said to have been killed in the process with scores injured.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, will meet the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Moroe, on Tuesday over the attacks.

APC Politicians Are Role Models Of Yahoo Boys – Timi Frank
September 3, 2019

Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described many appointees of the current administration of the All Progressives Congress as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’ politicians.

Commenting on the list of over 70 Nigerians involved in internet scam by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Frank said in a media statement that corruption was gradually becoming one of the criteria to get an appointment, especially under the current administration.

He said, “The ‘Yahoo politicians’ are the role models of these ‘Yahoo-Yahoo Boys’. Those in government today are not immune. They have turned Nigeria to the capital of poverty in the world.

“The ‘Yahoo’ appointees and governors will throw elaborate parties and dinners once they assume public office because they see it as an opportunity to loot the treasury.

“When you look at the antecedent of most of the members of the recently inaugurated federal cabinet, the majority of them have been guests of either the EFCC or the ICPC in the past. If those people are accorded such privileges, then, what is the government telling the young ones?

“In a country where about 90 percent of citizens are living in abject poverty, the ‘Yahoo-Yahoo politicians’ in the National Assembly have no qualms budgeting N5.5 billion to acquire choice SUVs for themselves

Couple Whose Wedding IV Had ‘no Reception’, Had A Wedding Reception(photos)

Over the weekend, a couple whose wedding IV was the trending topic because it had a bold ‘no reception’ written on the IV, actually had a wedding reception courtesy of family and friends.

The groom, Adewale Yusuf, wrote on his twitter account:

Quote:so the weekend was full of drama as our wedding IV trended because of our #NoReception decision. I’m glad my wife is laughing about it now, because it wasn’t funny over the weekend. Thanks to everyone that insulted or defended us, we’re happy with our decision. We’re happy with our decision.

He said he was tricked to a reception by his colleagues. According to Yusuf, they wanted a small wedding but got dragged into a surprise wedding reception which was all paid for by his mentors and friends. He wrote on his Instagram account:

Quote:My wife and I had decided to not have a reception party after our wedding. Just church service, nothing big. But, on the day of the event after we had taken our pictures, I was tricked to the office by my mentors and to my surprise my team and friends had planned a surprise reception party for us.I have never been that surprised in my entire life. I was so shocked, that it took me hours to recover fully. One of the most heartwarming thing was that the team members who have moved on from the company, contributed towards the reception, as well. I believe in team spirit and that action reinforced my belief. Thank you #Techpointers

Ultra Fast Keto Boost In different words, it's miles primarily based on an individual's angle in conjunction with private emotions and opinions. So at the same time as you could see your self one way, others may additionally see you differently. As you may in all likelihood believe, this could work for better or worse...  you could see yourself as leaner than you are. Even in case you recognise you've got a few weight you need to lose, you could not recognize the extent of your adiposity.

By Dipo Olowookere

In the second quarter of 2019, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Nigeria recorded a year-on-year growth of 1.94 percent in real terms. This is according to data released on Tuesday morning by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In the GDP figures of the stats office, the Q2 2019 growth was higher than the 1.50 percent rise achieved in the second quarter of 2018, indicating increase of 0.44 percentage points.

According to the NBS, when compared to 2.10 percent (revised from 2.01 percent due to oil output revisions) recorded in the first quarter of 2019, however, the Q2 2019 real growth rate indicates a decline of 0.16 percentage points.

It was further stated that during the quarter, aggregate GDP stood at N34.944 trillion in nominal terms, an increase of 13.83 percent over the performance in the second quarter of 2018 and 9.8 percent over the preceding quarter.

The performance observed in Q2 2019 follows an equally strong first quarter performance, and was likely aided by stability in oil output as well as the successful political transition.

Overall, a total of 15 activities grew faster in Q2 2019 relative to last year, while 13 activities had higher growth rates relative to the preceding quarter.

On a half year basis, real growth in the first half of 2019 stood at 2.02 percent, higher than in 2018 which was 1.69 percent. Quarter on quarter, real GDP increased by 2.85 percent compared with a decline of 13.69 percent in the preceding period.

Business Post reports that in the second quarter of this year, the oil sector posted a real growth rate of 5.15 percent year-on-year in Q2 2019, representing a 9.10 percent points increase relative to the rate recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2018. It also indicates an increase of 6.61 percent points when compared with Q1 2019(revised). Quarter-on-Quarter, the oil sector recorded a growth rate of 1.55 percent in Q2 2019. The sector contributed 8.82 percent to total real GDP in Q2 2019, up from levels recorded in the corresponding period of 2018 but down compared to the preceding quarter.

In Q2 2019, Nigeria recorded average daily oil production of 1.98 million barrels per day (mbpd), or 7.6 percent higher than the daily average production of 1.84mbpd recorded in the same quarter of 2018 but slightly less than output recorded in Q1 2019 (1.99mbpd (revised from 1.96 mbpd).

On the other hand, the non-oil sector grew by 1.64 percent in real terms during the reference quarter. This was 0.40 percent points lower than recorded in the same quarter of 2018, and 0.83% point lower than the first quarter of 2019.

During the quarter, the sector was driven mainly by information and communication, mining and quarrying, agriculture, transportation and storage, as well as other services.

In real terms, the non-oil sector contributed 91.18 percent to the nation’s GDP, lower than the share recorded in the second quarter of 2018 (91.45 percent) but higher than the first quarter of 2019, which stood at 90.78 percent.

“FG Must Act Now!”, Nigerian Gov. On Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has condemned the recent Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had earlier reported that properties worth millions of naira, and belonging to Nigerians, were set ablaze by South Africans.

A viral video sighted by Igbere TV also showed several shops being looted by the angry South African citizens in their large numbers.

President of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, said the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Mr Olubajo said in a statement on Monday that the mob “looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals.”

Reacting to the development on his Facebook page, Governor Okowa called on the federal government to rise and protect its citizens.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the repeated violent attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. The Federal Government must immediately liaise with the South African authorities to protect the lives and livelihoods of all our citizens. #SayNoToXenophobia”, he wrote.

EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Embassy Shuts Door On Nigerians Attacked In South Africa
Speaking with Sahara Reporters on Monday, a handful of Nigerians in South Africa revealed how they now live in fear.
BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKSEP 02, 2019

The Nigerian Embassy in South Africa has shut its door to Nigerian victims of ongoing xenophobic attacks in the former apartheid colony.

The latest attacks against nationals of other African countries domiciled in South Africa, which started on August 28, 2019, has spread to several parts of that country, raising fears of more violence in the coming days.

Speaking with Sahara Reporters on Monday, a handful of Nigerians in South Africa revealed how they now live in fear.

According to them, some victims of the attack, who visited the Nigerian Embassy for help and protection were denied entry into the place.

Former president of Nigerian Union South Africa, Iyke Anyene, told Sahara Reporters that Nigerians had remained in the houses, afraid for their lives and unsure if they would be the next victims.

He said, “In some parts of Guateng Province the looting has continued.

“It started in Pretoria and people have not been able to do their businesses. It is not safe, there is widespread looting.

“Some Nigerian victims went to the high commission but were denied entry into the place.

“The high commission claimed that they are dealing with the situation but we don't know what to do. We need results, people are losing their lives and properties.”

He said migrants from other African countries are also affected in the attacks and looting, adding that the South African police are usually overwhelmed when such attacks happen.

He added, “All African migrants are affected. When it happened in Pretoria, the police was there but couldn’t stop the attack.

“In Johannesburg, they were not able to stop anything. It is a very serious problem at the moment.”

A Nigerian business woman, Doris Ikeri-Solarin, also told Sahara Reporters that she had remained indoors with her family for fear of being killed by South Africans if they go out of their home.

She said, “There is trouble, it is very tough. There is a state of emergency and the violence is still ongoing.

“No one opened shop today, our movement has been restricted.

“In Mabupane, they burnt our shops on Wednesday but we were able to save the ones we have around Sunnyside.

“These people are reinforcing and they are coming out to attack us.”

Ikeri-Solarin faulted the Nigerian Embassy for shutting citizens out at such time of need.

She added, “A baby just died in Marabasa because of the fire. We are at home, we can't go out, our children cannot go to school, Nigerians inside taxis are dragged out and attacked.

“Nigerian Embassy does not exist. Some of our people affected by this attack went to the high commission but the ambassador did not come out. It is a big shame on them.”

Last Wednesday in Japan during the Tokyo International Conference for Africa Development, President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, said that his government will address the killings of Nigerians in his country.

He added that the country's criminal justice system was looking to proffer lasting solutions.

He said, “On the issue of Nigerians who are dying in South Africa, we feel very upset about that.

“Obviously, our criminal justice system is working on it. We don’t support killings.”

But despite his assurances, South Africans have continued to target Nigerians in xenophobic attacks, killing and destroying businesses belonging to them.

In July, President of Nigeria’s Senate, Ahmed Lawan, disclosed that about 118 Nigerians had so far lost their lives in different attacks in South Africa over the years.

Experts say the figure could may well be above that figure especially several unreported cases of hostilities against Nigerians.

Onyeama accuses South African police of complicity over fresh attack on Nigerians

Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, says Nigerian shops in South Africa are being looted and burnt by mindless criminals with ineffective police protection.

In a tweet on Monday, the minister described the constant negative report about treatment of Nigerians in South Africa as “sickening.”

He said the federal government will take needed steps to curb the situation.

“Received sickening and depressing news of continued burning and looting of Nigerian shops and premises in #SouthAfrica by mindless criminals with ineffective police protection. Enough is enough. We will take definitive measures,” he tweeted.

Nigerians in South Africa have been victims of attacks, more of which are xenophobic.

In August, Obinna Ayanele, a Nigerian living in South Africa, was killed by suspected hoodlums.

Ayanele, a 46-year-old from Ideato north local government area of Imo state, was also attacked at his shop in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg.

Reacting to the attacks, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had shut down offices of MTN and DStv in Benue, Kaduna and Ogun states in protest of the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

In 2018, the minister had said most violent conflicts and killings of Nigerians in South Africa were more of criminal activities than xenophobic attack.

Airlines’ role in developing airport hubs

[Image: Murtala-Muhammed-International-Airport-new.jpg]

What qualifies an airport as an effective hub? Experts say it is beyond geographical location, population, operational infrastructure and the size of terminal facilities. The role strong carriers can play in achieving a hub for Nigeria has triggered a debate in the sector. KELVIN OSA OKUNBOR reports.

Nigeria’s desire to achieve hub status for some of its airports in the last few decades has remained elusive.
The drive to upgrade some of its airport terminals to hub status has engaged the attention of successive administrations with little to show for it beyond rhetorics. Terminal upgrade and remodeling initiatives conceived by many ministers of aviation are yet to yield the expected outcomes.

But, the country is losing billions of dollars  in the West Africanregion and on the continent due to the failure of the government to deliver on its target.

Experts, including Chief Executive Officer Belujane Konsults, Mr Chris Aligbe ; Chief Executive Officer, African Aviation Services Limited , Mr Nick Fadugba ; Chairman  and Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), Captain Meggison  said hub pursuit for Nigeria may take longer time until strong  carriers are put in place.
Beside strong carriers, they said government needs deliver modern airports with transit facilities for passengers to connect flight from one corner of the world to another.

They said Nigeria will be better positioned to achieve hub status for its airport terminals if it takes advantage of its geographical location, population and other attractions.
Besides geography, they say establishing strong carriers has a role to play in the development of effective airport hubs. They argue that such carriers should not be necessarily publicly owned, but could be private sector-driven, judging by the experience in other climes.

Aligbe on his part identified the absence of strong indigenous carriers as one of the reasons Nigeria is unable to develop airport hubs. He said though Nigeria is naturally blessed with with good geographical location, it is not enough to make her airports natural hubs as hub development goes beyond geography encompassing strong carriers to distribute passengers.
He said other countries in Africa were using their carriers to develop their airport into strong hubs for the distribution of passengers on the airline network they belong to.

Aligbe  said until the government designed policies that would promote strong  indigenous carriers, the ambition to develop some international airports into a hub will remain a mirage.
In an interview, Aligbe said in some parts of the world, some private carriers assisted in developing their airports into strong hubs.
He said: “We cannot develop hub in our country. If you look at it globally  it is only two major places that private airlines have developed as hub.
“You have it in Honk Kong, developed by Cathay Pacific, the airline was owned by a shipping magnate, but now it is a global airline.
‘’There is another airline that developed  a hub in Brazil after the collapse of Varig Air. So, airlines have a role to play in developing airport hubs. Other hubs were developed by national carriers. Even though most American carriers are privately owned.’’

He further said:” Only national carriers build hubs. That is why Nigeria has not been able to build hubs. Four  or five years ago, there was an arrangement with Lufthansa to help build a hub in Abuja , but it did not happen. It will not happen, no foreign airlines will build hub for Nigeria. KLM built a hub in Schipol, Air France built Paris Airport, British Airways built Heathrow, not Virgin.
“Nigeria is the best location in Africa to build a hub, yet we have not developed it.

“The kind of  multiplier  effect a  hub has in economic development in any country is mammoth. Such  hubs as Dubai, Heathrow, France, Atlanta, do wonderful things. Delta Airlines has done a lot to develop hubs and contribute to the development of the economy.
“We are not in a position to develop  that now, because we do not have a strong national flag carrier that can do this,” Aligbe concluded.
Meggison in his view  said airlines have a huge role to play in developing hubs.

He cited the roles Ethiopian Airlines has played in making Addis Ababa a strong hub in the Horn of Africa region, distributing passengers from all parts of the continent onto its global routes network, using its many global alliances.

He said Kenyan Airways has also assisted  in developing Nairobi into a strong  hub for East Africa to distribute passengers around the continent.
Egypt Air, he said, has developed a hub around Cairo just as South African Airways has also developed a hub  for Johannesburg to distribute passengers around the southern part of the continent. He said any country needed more than mere geographical advantage to become a hub.

He said: “But a country needs more than the advantage of geographical location to become a hub.
“Now, if you  take advantages into account, Nigeria ought to be a hub. But then what  really determines a hub is the quality and the capacity of the major carrier in that country.

“It is not the population, it is not even the strategic location as it were. KLM is from Netherlands. How many people are in Netherlands? How many of the KLM passengers are going to Netherlands? But because the country has a very big carrier that has wide network, the airline has made Amsterdam a hub.”

He said  Nigeria could become a hub if it has strong airlines that could distribute passengers from Europe, Americas, Asia and other destination outside the continent to various parts of Africa.

“Nigeria can become a hub if it has two or three  airlines that are very strong. Even if one is not strong enough, but an airline  that can create a feeder network for passengers  to different parts of the continent.

“Ethiopia is not strategically located  as it were, but because they have a very strong carrier, Addis Ababa has become a hub. So, it is the airline or the airlines that make a hub. For Lagos to become a hub, besides the facilities that will enable it to become a hub, like good airport, modern transportation facilities, the airline must be big enough to have network of routes and feed other airlines.”
Despite its huge population,  Fadugba said Nigeria  lacks terminals that can accelerate seamless transit for passengers on domestic; regional and international flights.

He said besides facilities for passengers’ transit; Nigerian carriers are not strong enough to attract global partnership to offer passengers reliable services on routes beyond point-to-point.

Being a point -to -point carrier , Fadugba said   is no longer fashionable among global carriers.
Speaking in an interview in Lagos, Fadugba said the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja were yet to qualify as hubs for West Africa because they do not command the kind of facilities that would attract global carriers as transit terminals to connect passengers to any where in the world.

Fadugba said global carriers are attracted to airports with modern facilities where turn around time is swift; services are reliable; airlines could refuel and enjoy economies of scale.

He said the weak status of many Nigerian carriers with limited aircraft fleet; unreliable schedules and lack of capacity to share interline and codeshare agreements with global carriers continue to undermine the drive for hub status for its airports.
Fadugba said airports in Accra, Cairo, Casablanca, Dakar, Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Johannesburg have developed modern infrastructure and processes to attract global legacy carriers with intimidating aircraft fleet and network; Nigerian airports needed to be reworked to accommodate attractive hub facilities.

He said: “Nigerian airports still have a long way to go to become significant hubs in Africa ; because they have inadequate facilities that will facilitate seamless passengers’ transit.
“Government needs to tear down and build a modern terminal at Lagos Airport with at least three runways that will facilitate seamless connectivity.

“Government needs to urgently look at land facilities at the Abuja Airport and at least build two runways for easy connectivity.
“Developing an airport hub is not by accident but through careful planning and strategy. To achieve this government should look at airport size, and the readiness of the airspace to accommodate the exponential traffic that it will trigger if modern facilities are put in place.

“This is what other countries have done by empowering their airlines; modernising their fleet; securing operational agreements and partnership to position them as catalyst for economic development.”

He  said: “And we do not have any airline to cut on, put together all the airlines we have if we tell them to come together to form one airline , they are still not large enough to contend with South African Airways, Kenya Airways or Ethiopian Airlines.
“We cannot develop hub in our country. If you look at it globally only two major places that private airlines have developed as hub.Even though most American carriers are privately owned.Look at all the hubs built globally, they were built by national carriers. Only national carriers build hubs.

“That is why Nigeria has not been able to build one. Because of economies of scale for airlines in terms of fuel costs, insurance and other benefits for airlines that belong to network globally.

“These are the things we are not benefitting. Aircraft utilisation in Nigeria is low, at least six hours as opposed to 12 hours.”
Meanwhile, remodelling of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, is aimed at making it the preferred West African hub that would attract more international flights, President of new aviation think tank Stakeholders Square Table, Captain Balarabe Usman (rtd.) has said.

Usman said when work is completed at the airport, it would meet all the necessary conditions for its certification by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and would be designated as a regional hub because the highest number of passengers in West and Central Africa still emanate from the Lagos airport.

According to him, with the expansion of the terminal facility, installation of new conveyor belts for quick dispensation of baggage, upgrading of the cooling system and overall rehabilitation of the infrastructure at the terminal would entirely improve and hasten facilitation and attract more airlines into the country.

Speaking in an interview, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sabre Travel Network, Gbenga Olowo said government could create deliberate policy to support  aviation activities including airlines, airports , catering, fuel and ground handling services.
He said: “Nigeria ought to be  a hub with its geographical location in West , Central Africa  with its large population.
“Lagos could be a formidable hub in West Africa if it has facilities that guarantees  a  functional airport with transit facilities , provision for aircraft leasing , aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul facility , an   aerotropolis and other  supporting amenities built around  flag  carriers or a national carrier.

“One of the steps to achieving this is ensuring  effective infrastructure management and development  as well as improved air connectivity.”

Apex bank rolls over N208.6b maturing T-bills

THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has rolled over N208.6 billion Treasury Bills across all maturities at the Primary Market Auctions.

The marginal rates across tenors closed higher at 11.1 per cent, 11.6 per cent and 12.9 per cent for the 91-day, 182-day and 364-day tenors respectively.
This compared with previous auction marginal rates of 9.7 per cent, 11.4 per cent and 12 per cent. The higher rates indicate increasing investor appetite for higher yields in compensation for the country’s riskiness.
The apex bank had asked banks to back all Treasury Bills bids with customer demand.

The directive is part of the bank’s plan to improve lending to domestic economy. In the past, banks have bought government debt rather than assume risk by lending.

The CBN barred banks from buying bills for their own accounts at an open market auction held, a move intended to force them to lend rather than invest in government debt.

The bank is stepping up a campaign to get credit flowing. Last week, it limited the size of interest-bearing deposits it would hold for banks, the latest in a series of measures aimed at reviving an sluggish economy.

The CBN, which had not issued market stabilisation bills for about a week before Friday’s auction, told banks bids must be backed by customer demand.

N7.9tr dirty notes: CBN’s deadline ends today

September 2, 2019

THE three-month deadline set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for bank customers to deposit dirty naira notes in their banks will elapse at the close of business today.

The CBN had disclosed that a large proportion of the N7.9 trillion pieces of naira notes in circulation are dirty, mutilated and unfit for Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and over-the-counter payments.
The regulator therefore, directed Nigerians to deposit mutilated Naira notes in any bank branch closer to them.
It said the exercise was part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the Naira notes in circulation.

Many banks have continued to sensitise their customers on the need to comply with the directive.

In an emailed note to customers, GTBank said: “As part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the Naira notes in circulation, the CBN has introduced the Clean Note Policy and Banknotes Fitness Guidelines. What does this mean for you?
“If you have in your possession,  overused or mutilated Naira notes, you are required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Clean Note Policy to deposit such notes at any branch near you on or before Monday, September 2, 2019,” it said.

It explained that overused notes include any Naira note that is now weak to such an extent that it could easily tear at further handling or processing. Mutilated notes include any Naira note that has been partially or permanently damaged, but which clearly still has more than half of its original size together.

“As Nigerians, it is our patriotic and collective responsibility to handle the Naira with care, and as your Bank, we urge you to comply with this directive in order to improve the quality of our national currency,” the bank said.
For many Nigerians, the sorry state of the Naira notes in circulation is appalling and a serious source of worry. The CBN said a large proportion of the N7.9 trillion pieces of naira notes in circulation are dirty, mutilated, unfit for Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and over-the-counter payments.

The worrisome development is already affecting businesses, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that need the local currency, especially the lower denominations to transact their businesses. The development has, therefore, prompted the CBN to begin the process of getting the commercial banks and stakeholders in the currency circulation project to implement its  clean note policy and banknote fitness guidelines that will involve withdrawal of the dirty notes from circulation.

CBN’s Deputy Governor, Operations, Folashodun Shonubi and Director, Currency Operations Department, Mrs. Pricilla Eleje, spoke of plans to withdraw the dirty notes from circulation at  the Clean Note Policy launch in Lagos. The officials said the bank had the obligation of providing adequate supply of clean banknotes to facilitate seamless payment and settlement of transactions by the public, the government and banks.

BBNaija: Real reason I gave immunity privilege to Ike – Mercy
[Image: BBNaija-2019-Mercy-Ike.jpeg]

Big Brother Naija, BBNaija, housemate, Mercy, on Monday revealed why she handed over the immunity privilege to fellow housemate, Ike.
The position of HoH is usually assumed by the winner of the weekly task as instructed by Biggie.

In Monday’s task, housemates were assigned BBNaija’s Lastman standing challenge, where housemates were asked to throw small balls into any of the thirty cups filled with water with three attempts for each housemate in every round.
Some housemates, after several rounds, fell behind in the course of the game, leaving Ike and Mercy to the final rounds of the challenge.
Mercy and Ike, however, emerged winners of the challenge after Biggie gave them the options of them becoming housemate on the condition that one of them gives up immunity.

Following Biggie’s instruction, Mercy agreed to give up immunity.
Speaking after the challenge with Ike, Venita, Elo, and Seyi in the garden, Mercy disclosed that she gave the immunity to Ike as a gift.
According to Mercy, Ike had always wanted the immunity, hence her decision to gift Ike.

The BBNaija housemate said: “This is a gift I give to you, all through today Ike has been telling me I want immunity, he wanted it so badly, so I decided to give it to him.”
