Man sets his son ablaze in Akwa Ibom for allegedly stealing N500 from landlord (graph - Edoman - 09-02-2019 Man sets his son ablaze in Akwa Ibom for allegedly stealing N500 from landlord (graphic photos)   A young boy identified as Abasiofon Idorenyin is fighting for life in a hospital after his father poured fuel on him and set him ablaze.   It was gathered that the incident occurred at Afia Nsit in Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom State on Thursday August 29, after Mr. Idorenyin accused him of stealing N500 from their landlord.     by RE: Man sets his son ablaze in Akwa Ibom for allegedly stealing N500 from landlord (graph - Edoman - 09-03-2019 Update: Boy who was set ablaze by his father dies in the hospital; Police arrest the father The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Idorenyin Essien,35, who burnt his son to death over alleged theft.   Recall that Mr Essien doused his son Abadiofon with kerosene and set him ablaze at Afia Nsit community in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. Read previous report here   The spokesman of the command, DSP. Mac-Don Achibe, who confirmed the development while speaking with newsmen in Eket on Tuesday, said that the incident, which occurred on Aug. 29, was reported to the police by Essien’s neighbours.   Achibe said the case would be charged to court after the police investigation.   Essien burnt his son to death with claims that he stole N500 from their landord’s house to buy food. According to reports, Essien sent the minor to buy kerosene, which the son did. He tied the boy with a rope, doused him with the kerosene and set him ablaze. The boy was rushed to hospital but later died.   Comr David John, who reported the incident, however, said the boy never stole any money and that the father only set him ablaze because he took his money and used it to buy food. "Yesterday I posted a picture of one Master Abasiofon Idorenyin who was burned by his father Mr. Idorenyin with petrol for allegedly stealing of #500 from his landlord in Afia Nsit,Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom State. The boy has passed out and information has it that the said boy never stole the man's money. That the poor boy took 500 naira note in the house and bought food worth 200 naira and returned 300 balance to the father. Now the boy is gone just because of 200 naira"
