Three soldiers arrested by a joint patrol team alongside 22 other members of a kidnapping gang at a building in the outskirts of Maiduguri in the early hours of Sunday September 22, have been dismissed by the Nigerian army and handed over to the Nigerian police.

The soldiers who engaged in various crimes which include kidnapping, armed robbery, killings and cultism after being deployed to the Operation Lafiya Dole were dismissed in accordance with the military procedures.

Quote:“The three soldiers were caught among the evil group, there was further resistance and attempt to escape, so we tied them up with ropes because handcuffs were not available.
“In addition; we could not put violent men that do this kind of crimes into a police van to take to the station, there will be breakout on the road and we know what would happen.
“We have to restrain them thoroughly with ropes before we take them and handover to the police.
“The Acting GOC, 7 Division, Brig.-Gen. AK Ibrahim, has conducted military procedures. We do not keep armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists in the army, they had been dismissed.
“We gathered here to witness their handover to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for civic action, they are dismissed, and they are no longer soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
“Our code of conduct is strict and high, no evil soldier will be allowed to serve in the army,” Olusegun Adeniyi, the Theater Commander of  Operation Lafiya Dole said.

LIB reported earlier that the dismissed soldiers are among the arrested suspects posing as Boko Haram members . Others include students of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, a medical doctor, a banker and soldiers.

300 level student of Ambrose Alli University nearly drowns and it was captured on video (disturbing video)

The chilling moment a 300 level student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state, nearly drowned was captured on video.

The woman identified as Priscilla, a 300 level accounting student, had gone to swim at the Olumo beach, otherwise known as the Sabo beach. It was their Hostel Week at school so she went with others from her hostel for a picnic.

A video shared online shows the students standing around the shallow part of the water before Priscilla ventures into the deep end. After a short while, she's seen flailing her arms as she tries to get the attention of her colleagues.

At this point, there was commotion already and the person filming immediately drops the camera so the screen is blank but voices can still be heard as her friends screamed and tried to get to her in time.

Luckily, she made it out alive.

Initially, there were reports that she passed on and her photo was being circulated with RIP written on it. But a report has been sent out that she survived.

CAN raises alarm over influx of strange faces in South-East

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in South-East has raised an alarm over an alleged influx of strange faces in the zone.

In a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Bishop Goddy Okafor, and Dr S.C. Nwokolo, the Christian group commended South-East governors over the swift move to address the activities of killer herdsmen in the region and also called for the expulsion of strange faces from the zone.

“All the people without identity, who are flooding the zone, should be stopped by immigration and other law enforcement agencies.
“Also, suspected foreign herders and the killer herdsmen are asked to leave the zone immediately. Most of such foreign and killer herders have been identified in some parts of the zone".
It maintained its stand against RUGA, saying, “RUGA should be totally abolished. To this effect, we condemn the inciting statements made by the President of the Miyetti Allah asking for RUGA in all the states; else there won’t be peace in the country.
“CAN is calling for his arrest, as comments credited to him have always been inciting. Let him be tried by a competent court of law.”

Michelle Williams' passionate speech at the 2019 Emmys trends
[Image: 5d8847bf889c0.PNG]
Actress Michelle Williams gave a passionate speech after Emmy win at the  71st Primetime Emmys which held last night in LA.

She thanked a lot of people on Sunday night for her lead actress Emmy, but her biggest thanks went to the show’s network for its pay practices.

In the now trending speech, Michelle made an impassioned plea for pay equity across the entertainment industry, calling for female employees to be paid a fair and equal wage.

She also pointed out the discrepancy between how caucasian actresses are treated, both on set and in their paycheck, compared to how performers of color, specifically black actresses, are treated.

Williams’ speech comes on the heels of last week’s #NotWorthLess movement, which saw women writers, producers and assistants across Twitter share their own stories of pay inequality in the entertainment business.
Screenwriter Adele Lim sparked the movement after she left the "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel in protest of being paid less than her male co-writer.

During her acceptance speech, the "Fosse/Verdon" star said:

I see this as an acknowledgement of what is possible when a woman is trusted to discern her own needs, feels safe enough to voice them, and respected enough that they’ll be heard.

When I asked for my dance classes, I heard ‘yes.’ When I asked for more voice lessons, I heard ‘yes.’ A different wig, a pair of teeth not made out of rubber, ‘yes.’ All these things, they require effort and they cost more money, but my bosses never presumed to know better than I did about what I needed to do my job and to honor Gwen Verdon.

Thank you FX and to Fox 21 Studios for supporting me completely and paying me equally.

The next time a woman — and especially a woman of color, because she stands to make 52 cents on the dollar compared to her white male counterparts — tells you what she needs in order to do her job, listen to her, believe her, because one day she might stand in front of you and say thank you for allowing her to succeed because of her workplace environment and not in spite of it.

Emir to poor Nigerian men: ''Don't marry more than one wife, it will make you poorer''
Attahiru Ahmed, the Emir of Anka in Zamfara, has advised low and middle income earning Nigerian men not to marry more than one wife as practicising polygamy will only make them poorer.

The monarch gave the advice when he spoke during the distribution of some women empowerment items donated by Hajia Aisha Bello-Matawalle, wife of the state governor over the weekend.

Speaking at the event, the monarch said

“Civil servants on a salary of N15,000 a month marry more than one wife and end up raising families they cannot cater for. It is this attitude that is responsible for increasing out-of-school children because the parents cannot shoulder the responsibility. People should marry in accordance with their earnings to ensure that their children have sound education and good moral background,” .

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II on Sunday, September 22nd proceeded on a seven day annual seclusion as Olojo festival begins in Ile Ife.

While addressing newsmen on his way out of the palace, Ooni Ogunwusi who is the co-chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers noted that he was in a very high spirit to formally begin this year's OLOJO festival with seclusion to meet with God Almighty who owns the “Day” through fasting and prayers during which he will pray for the resuscitation of the country’s economy.

He also commended President Buhari for setting up an excellent Economic Advisory Council led by Prof. Doyin Salami, warning stakeholders especially those within the presidency to resist attempts to sabotage the council’s efforts in the best interest of Nigerians, especially the poor masses.

“I am going into seclusion now just to pray for the presidency that they should listen to provide an enabling environment for the newly economic council to do their job. It is very important.
In fact, we have to do it in anyway we have to do it because Nigerian economy needs to be resuscitated in a rapid manner for the betterment of our country.
I am so much familiar with the pedigrees of all the members and Am so sure they will deliver only if given free hands to work. As a spiritual head of the Yoruba race, I must continue to pray for the the country and the government. I must also intercede for the people to support the government and for the government to work for the people.
The president has to listen to this wonderful team. Every recommendation must be followed to the later because these are experts carefully selected from all parts of Nigeria. Failure to listen to them might even draw us back.
There is problem in Nigeria, we cannot continue to deceive ourselves because if we do so, we are only postponing the evil day. It is important that we do a rapid economic transformation.

A suspected armed robber and rapist, Makinde Abiodun, has been arrested by men of the Ogun state police command after a lady who Abiodun and other members of his gang robbed and raped, identified him at the police station.

A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says that Makinde and other members of his gang currently at large, operated a 'one-chance' syndicate that put a vehicle on the Sango-Owode Road along Idiroko in Ogun State, disguising as a commercial vehicle but with an ulterior motive of dispossessing unsuspecting passengers of their belongings.

Oyeyemi in his statement, said Makinde and his other gang members robbed two ladies, Gloria Edoh and Saidat Akinola, who boarded the vehicle wherein Makinde and one other posed as passengers. According to the victims, they both boarded the cab from Owode enroute to Sango, but on getting to Olokopupo area of Atan otta, Makinde and his gang members suddenly brought out knives and other dangerous weapons with which they forced them to surrender their belongings. The sums of N37, 000 and #48, 0000 were collected from each of the victims. They were also forced to surrender their Techno phones and thereafter, pushed out of the moving vehicle, thereby sustaining varying degree of injuries.

The victims had to go for treatments at a nearby hospital. As the victims were leaving the hospital, they sighted and identified Makinde as one of the hoodlums that attacked them and raised an alarm. He was apprehended by the DPO Atan-Otta, SP Abiodun Salau who was on a routine patrol of the area with his men.

While at the station, one woman (name withheld) who had earlier complained of a similar incident, identified Makinde as one of the hoodlums who robbed and raped her the previous day. She said that her pant was also taken away by her attackers.

Quote:"The suspect has confessed participating in the two robbery incidents" Oyeyemi said

The police say Makinde will be charged to court soon while efforts are being made to arrest the other members of his gang.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER.

THE BREAD OF GOD

…For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world (John 6:33).

In Luke 4:4, Jesus said, “…man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Also, in John 6:35, He said, “…I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” A symbolism to this effect is seen Luke 9 , when Jesus multiplied five loaves of “bread” and gave to His disciples to feed the multitude with
The bread is symbolic of the Word of God that He gives us, which we, in turn, should “give” or share to others.

As we distribute the bread (the Word), as we share the Gospel with others, and bring more souls to the Kingdom, there’s multiplication. Acts 6:7 says, “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.”
As you win more souls, the Word of God increases, because the Word goes into every man’s world. If there were five hundred people that received the Word, they’d take the same Word to five hundred worlds, and the cycle continues.

Do you want the Word of the Lord to increase? If your answer is “yes,” then sow it into the hearts of men; “distribute the bread.” Recall that as the disciples distributed the bread to the multitude in Luke 9, the bread kept multiplying.

This was the Lord’s idea and expectation when He gave the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20. He told us to take the Gospel to every man’s world, and make students of those in our environments.
Therefore, preach, teach, share the Word in such a way that others would receive, and become effective preachers and teachers of the same Word. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for making me a custodian of the truth of the Gospel, and an ambassador for Christ, empowered to make students of the nations, and show them how to live. Through the power of the Spirit, I make many others effective, enlisting them in your mighty workforce. Thus, the light of the glorious Gospel shines intensely, and spreads into every man’s world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

23RD SEPTEMBER.

I affirm that God’s Word is light and glory; as I meditate and live by the Word, I am transformed into the glorious image that I behold therein. There’s no darkness in me; I enjoy a sweet and rich fellowship with the Word and the Spirit.

The entrance of God’s Word floods my heart with light and brings brilliance and beauty into my life. God’s Word is deeply rooted in my heart and it grows, prevails and produces results in every area of my life. My life is beautified;

I am like a well-watered garden, I am fruitful and productive always, and at all times. Everything and everyone that is connected to me experiences the grace of God and responds to the influence of the Holy Spirit. Goodness and mercy follow me every day of my life, and whatever I lay my hands to do prospers.

I am not ordinary; a supply-system from God has been set in motion on my behalf. I can never be broke; for the Lord has blessed me lavishly and supplied all my needs. My heart’s desires are granted me as I delight myself in Him. Even now, I receive my supply for today. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Living in Nigeria is very precarious' – Catholic Bishops speak on Insecurity

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has expressed concern over the state of insecurity in the country and concluded that “living in Nigeria is very precarious.”

The organisation also regretted that many parts of Nigeria were still in disarray and the country badly divided, as evidenced in “appointments to positions of national importance, sharing of resources, and distribution of social amenities.”

The President of CBCN, Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubueze and Secretary, Rev. Camillus Raymond Umoh, made these observations in a communique entitled: “Moving beyond precarious living in Nigeria”, issued at the end of its second plenary meeting held at the Divine Mercy Pastoral Centre, Agbamaya, Obada-Oko, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The CBCN said Nigerian democracy was derailing from what it should be as “qualities of accountability, transparency, independence of the judiciary, respect for fundamental rights, observance of the rule of law, and fair and credible electoral process, to mention only these, are still lacking.”

Quote:The Catholic Bishops said, “There are, unfortunately, still many instances of killings as a result of banditry, kidnapping, assassination, armed robbery, reckless use of force by security agencies and lynching. Lately, too, there is an upsurge in the cases of suicide, even among our youths.
“Furthermore, the clashes between herdsmen and communities, and the activities of Boko Haram insurgents have continued, in which many innocent people lose their lives. These make living in Nigeria very precarious.
“We recognise the efforts being made by the government to fight insecurity in the land. However, we emphasise that a lot more still needs to be done in this regard. We pray for the peaceful repose of the victims and sympathise with the bereaved families.
We continue to urge the government and security agencies to do all they can to secure the immediate release of Leah Sharibu, the remaining Chibok girls and all the other persons still in captivity.
“We reiterate that without adequate security of lives and property, there can be no stability and enabling environment for meaningful development. We observe that the Federal Government, in which the power to control the major security agencies is vested, is overwhelmed. There is, therefore, need for proper decentralization of these agencies for effective results.”
The CBCN also called on governments at all levels to provide the enabling environment that would make it possible for both the government and the private sector to create job opportunities to minimise the menace of insecurity in the country.

The Catholic Bishops said God had made it possible for the continuous existence of Nigeria as a sovereign nation but however said much effort was required from both government and citizens order to have a nation in which everyone and every part, irrespective of differences of tribe or religion or political affiliation, will have a sense of belonging.

The communique said, “We note with dismay that many months after the general elections, many parts of our nation are still in disarray. The country is badly divided. This is evident in appointments to positions of national importance, sharing of resources, and distribution of social amenities.
Quote:“We urge especially the Federal Government, to ensure that it does not allow ethnic or religious hegemony to prevail in our multi-religious and secular state.
“No one religion should be favoured over another. There should be fairness, justice and neutrality in relation to all religions and ethnic groups, for where there is no justice, there can be no peace, unity and development.
We, therefore, enjoin all Nigerians to see themselves as one united people and work for justice in order to ensure a peaceful and united nation.”

The police in Rivers State have arrested one Emmanuel Israel for allegedly posing as a son of former House of Representatives member, Ned Nwoko.

Nwoko, who represented Aniocha North-South and Oshimili North-South in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2013, is the husband of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels.

Emmanuel, 21, accused of posing as Emzy Ned Nwoko Jnr, was reportedly arrested at his friend’s place in Mbiama, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Port Harcourt.

He is said to have set up fake Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp and email accounts to defraud the public.

“Intelligence also revealed that the fake Nwoko’s son had kept physical contacts with several unsuspecting members of the public with dubious promises of securing financial deals and sundry favours for them, with intent to extort,” a source close to Nwoko said.

Arrested along with Emmanuel is his sister, Love Israel; and they both face charges of criminal impersonation, conspiracy, defamation of character and conduct likely to threaten public peace.

Nwoko had in a statement released in May said: “the self-styled name ‘Emzy’ is believed to be working in cahoots with a discredited and defeated senatorial contender from Delta North who is facing multiple criminal charges before various courts and the EFCC.”

He denies ever abandoning any of his children, contrary to social media reports linked to Emzy.

Boko Haram: Govt Hires 200 Special Hunters To Fight Terrorists In Borno

Worried by the increasing Boko Haram attacks on Gubio town and its environs, the Caretaker Chairman of Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, Hon Zanna Modu, has hired the services of 200 special hunters from some parts of Adamawa, Gombe, Katsina and other states in Northern Nigeria to complement effort of the military and other security agencies and nip the crisis in the bud.

Modu also said five patrol Hilux vehicles were newly procured and would be handed over to these special set of hunters who are to work hand in hand with the security agencies and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

This was disclosed on Sunday by the Chairman while interacting with some journalists on the modalities put in place to end incessant attacks.

Gubio is about 100km drive and North from Maiduguri, the state capital which has been witnessing series of attacks and destruction of properties in the last one month.

Modu said, the measure to hire these special squad of hunters who are to be deployed for three months period is to ensure peace and resilience of fleeing residents return back to their communities.

Recall that the renewed attacks by insurgents, which led to the abduction of one member of Civilian Joint Task Force and killing of one of its Commanders, have rendered hundreds displaced, with some taking refuge in Maiduguri Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp.

Briefing journalists, the Caretaker Chairman said, “All modalities have been concluded for the arrival of the special squad of the hired hunters to the state on Sunday 22nd September, 2019 for onward movement to Gubio and its environs.

” Apart from other logistics, Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has given approval for procurement of five new patrol vehicles. As it is, we have procured additional five new Hilux patrol vehicles which are to be handed over to these hunters any moment from now.”

On how much each of these hunters would receive as their monthly allowances to carry out the task, the Caretaker Chairman however declined to give further details on the monies to be spent on the three months term of agreement, but said, the Council will utilize all the necessary resources at its disposal for security operatives to ensure safety of lives and property.

Nigeria To Earn Fresh $6.35bn In Taxes, Royalties - NNPC
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 09-22-2019, 05:07 PM - No Replies

As NNPC Concludes $875.75m Alternative Financing Package for OML 65 Expansion

The move by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to increase crude oil production and grow the nation’s revenue profile gained momentum with the closure of $875.75m alternative financing deal for the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) operated OML 65 through the Funding and Technical Services Agreement with CMES-OMS Petroleum Development Company (CPDC).

A release by NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu on its official Twitter account/website, stated that NNPC Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Umar Ajiya, disclosed that the project, which scope cuts across exploration, development, production and provision of facilities with incremental first oil targeted for Q4 2020, was estimated to have potential reserves of 800 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) with an ultimate recoverable reserve of 244 mmboe and cumulative production of 44mmboe from the Abura Main and Abura SE fields.

Mr. Ajiya explained that over the project’s life, it was expected to generate over $6.35bn in taxes and royalties to the Federation to support Government’s medium to long term economic development agenda

Speaking at the closing meeting with the financing partners in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Mr. Ajiya, described the contractor financing model as an innovative approach by NPDC to funding its operations in response to the challenging economic environment, saying the approach would fast-track the development of NPDCs under-developed assets.

He informed that the project was expected to ramp up production at OML 65 from 900barrels per day to 60, 000 barrels per day with average production over field life at 40,000 barrels per day.

Throwing more light on the financing strategy, the CFO explained that the package entailed comprehensive financing solution that addresses the complex issues involved in growing NPDC’s production, minimizes its cost of capital, and maximizes its value preservation, adding that it also strikes a balance between risk and reward which gives investors a rate of return that is commensurate with funding a brownfield project which has significant exploration risk.

He said the expectation was that this collaboration between NPDC and CPDC would translate in real terms to the efficient execution of the scope of activities for the optimal development of the OML 65 Asset within cost and schedule, whilst maximizing value to all the stakeholders.

He said it was projected that the collaboration would enhance operational and financial performance strictly guided by the pre-agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which remains critical for determining incentive payment due to CPDC.

On CPDC’s right to provide technical services, the CFO listed the field of consideration in this regard to include: drilling and completion services; building capacity and technology transfer; generating employment opportunities for youths with attendant positive multiplier effect on the nation’s economy, among other considerations.

Sowore and Buhari: A Bromance Gone Sour!

By Reno Omokri

First published in my column, #TheAlternative, in Sunday Thisday of September 22, 2019.

When I read the charges against Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, I laughed. Cyberstalking, insulting the President and other such ridiculous charges. Sowore has not lied against General Buhari even up to a quarter of the lies he told against Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, yet Jonathan never once contemplated arresting him.

‪If you say Omoyele Sowore is a liar, I will agree. He tells deliberate lies to destroy the reputation of those he is against, using his Sahara Reporters website. He has done it to me personally and to my boss. But neither Jonathan nor I ever contemplated his arrest ‬

‪I sympathise with Omoyele Sowore, but I cannot help but feel that what is currently happening to him is self inflicted. I know his nature. By the grace of God, he will come out of prison, read this, and use saharareporters to savage my reputation. But, he created the Buhari Frankenstein monster ‬

‪What is happening between Sowore and Buhari is just a bromance gone sour. Nothing more, nothing less. Sowore is not just some innocent human right activist that General Buhari is persecuting. He was an ally of General Buhari, who sold him to Nigeria. We must not rewrite history or will repeat it ‬

Using saharareporters, Sowore dishonestly DEMARKETED then President Jonathan as a "DRUNKARD", a "SLOW POKE", "CLUELESS" and MARKETED General Buhari as an "INCORRUPTIBLE", a man who would "CRUSH" Jonathan, and was "BETTER" than GEJ

In 2014, when then President Jonathan said "I am the most abused and insulted president in the world but when I leave office, you will all remember me for the total freedom you enjoyed under my government”, he was referring to Sowore and saharareporters. Nigerians mistook his tolerance for weakness

Today, General Buhari is trying Sowore, his former partner in propaganda, for insulting him. If insulting a President is a crime, then both Buhari and Sowore are guilty of that crime due to what they did to then President Jonathan. But it is NOT a crime and Sowore should be freed!

Sowore is not the victim here. The victim, who refused to be a victim, is former President @GEJonathan, who Sowore accused of thievery, yet all the former President’s children schooled in Nigeria while he was President. 5 years after leaving office, no one has found him wanting

It is quite possible that people around Jonathan made money, just as people around General Buhari are making money. A President cannot be everywhere. But I am telling Nigerians, Jonathan was not the THIEF, DRUNKARD or WEAKLING that Sowore painted him to be. He is a God fearing man. To fear God is weakness to men like Sowore.

Then President Jonathan is MEEK. MEEKNESS is not WEAKNESS. MEEKNESS means you have POWER, but you RESTRAIN  yourself from ABUSING it because you want to BUILD, not DESTROY. Moses was MEEK. Nigerians do not deserve a MEEK leader. We deserve General Buhari

On more than 4 occasions, Omoyele Sowore visited Nigeria while Jonathan was President. We knew his whereabouts. He met then Governor or the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and was in contact with General Buhari himself and Nasir Elrufai. But Jonathan never arrested him because he believed in FREEDOM of the PRESS. Perhaps Sowore thought he was dealing with a Democrat like Jonathan.

‪Sowore ‬and saharareporters marketed Jonathan as a corrupt weakling. Yet, Jonathan would never have made a man indicted by the army for theft, as reported  by Premium Times, a minister. Jonathan deported South Africans in retaliation when South Africa deported Nigerians. It is Buhari who is WEAK and CORRUPT.

The problem with the average Black African, and particular the Nigerian variety, is that we CRY over CONSEQUENCES, and LAUGH over ACTIONS, forgetting that CONSEQUENCE follows ACTIONS as DAY follows NIGHT. Sowore and Saharareporters are the ACTION. General Buhari is the CONSEQUENCE

I look at those now shedding tears for Sowore and I remember when then President Jonathan’s son was crying because his classmates were laughing at him because they read on saharareporters that his father is a drunkard. Even children believed what they read on saharareporters!

Without Sowore, General Buhari would not have become President. That is an indisputable fact. He and Saharareporters poisoned the mind of Nigerians against then President Jonathan. As Christ said “offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!”-Luke 17:1

It is a different matter if Sowore and saharareporters used the truth to turn Nigerians against then President Jonathan, but they used lies. Deliberate and malignant lies. You cannot DESTROY another man and expect Providence to BUILD you up! ‪ko le work!‬

‪What General Buhari has done to Sowore is a common Northern tactic. I lived in the North, so I know. Abacha used it on Abiola. He used Abiola to destroy Shonekan. After Abiola destroyed Shonekan’s government, he was of no use to Abacha, so Abacha threw him in jail!‬

‪General Buhari and Nasir Elrufai know what they used Sowore and saharareporters to achieve in destroying then President Jonathan. They are not fools. These guys are more political sophisticated than even Sowore knows. They will not sit idly and watch him do the same to them.‬

‪All of you were FOOLED when General Buhari rubbed mentholatum on his handkerchief and used it to induce crocodile tears. Shebi you are now seeing the genuine Buhari now? Who is crying today? Buhari or you? When we told you did you listen? Enjoy your Buhari!  ‬

‪General Buhari used Sowore and saharareporters against then President Jonathan and he will never let them be used against him. Sowore was naive. He should have known that the first person a feudal king kills is the kingmaker that brought him to the throne. So he can’t remove him from the same throne.‬

What an irony that Sowore used saharareporters to remove then President Jonathan from office, but today, he cannot use the same saharareporters to remove himself from jail. Don’t dig your enemy’s hole too deep so that when you fall into it, you can also escape.

PEPT: Atiku goes to Supreme Court Monday, to file 70-point grounds of appeal
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-22-2019, 01:46 PM - No Replies

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has concluded plans to file an appeal on Monday challenging the outcome of the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal, PEPT.

According to THISDAY, ahead of Wednesday’s deadline for an appeal against the tribunal’s judgement, Mr Atiku had put together 70 points as grounds for the appeal, which he plans to turn in on Monday.

The PEPT judgement was delivered on September 11 and Mr Atiku, as the appellant, had 14 days to file an appeal. By this calculation, the deadline for the filling of an appeal is Wednesday, September 25, while the petition has a lifespan of 60 days within which the appeal must be determined.

An unnamed Mr Atiku’s lawyer was quoted by the newspaper as saying that the former vice president’s lawyers had put together 70 grounds of appeal based on errors dictated from the tribunal’s judgement.

According to him, “We will file latest on Monday, September 23, and at most, due to any unforeseen reason, by September 24. Bear in mind that the deadline for submission is Wednesday. We won’t file on Wednesday for tactical reasons.”

The lawyer also ruled out the possibility of a new legal team, because the new lawyers would not have sufficient legal background of the petition since the Supreme Court panel is expected to deliver its judgement within 60 days from September 25.

He said one of the 70 grounds of appeal is that “the judgement of the PEPT was based on the facts; the judgement was not on the issues presented to the Court of Appeal presidential tribunal by the petitioner, especially in relation to the respondent’s academic qualifications.”

He said, “Take, for instance, one of the respondent’s witnesses, Major General Paul Tarfa (rtd), called by President Muhammadu Buhari’s lawyers said that they did not give their qualifications to the Military Board. Tarfa’s testimony is against the claim by Buhari that the Nigeria military is in possession of his certificates.

“Secondly, Buhari said that he was recruited into the military in 1961 and Tarfa said in 1962, so what is the correct date of his recruitment into the army?Somebody is not telling the truth.

“The issue in question is who entered the different grades for him from both the Cambridge and the West African School Certificate results. This is the first time that the court will say that the documents are admitted in the interest of justice. So, who entered the different grades for him and if he did it, why?

“One of the grounds of appeal is that the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, brought the Cambridge documents dated July 18 and testified on July 20. The point here is that it was not pleaded, when the respondent replied to the petitions of Atiku. So, speaking as in point of law, you don’t speak on documents not pleaded.

“The WAEC documents contradicted the Cambridge documents. This is a case of forgery, inconsistency in documents.”
The lawyer added, “On the INEC server, the judgement of the PEPT said the INEC server was hacked and we then asked, which of the servers was hacked?

“The tribunal judgement was based on the Electoral Act section 52 (1) (B), but this aspect of the law has since been deleted in 2015. It is no longer in existence. This was the case in Wike Vs Peterside.

“If the judgement said INEC server was recklessly hacked, then, there is a server and, therefore, a criminal offence. Yet, INEC did not claim so or that its documents were stolen. How come the judge reached this scandalous decision?

“If section 52 (1) (B) is no longer in existence, how come the lead judgement came to this decision? It was not based on the documents pleaded. Therefore, how come it was decided so? That means that the judge went on a voyage of discoveries and exploration. Buhari was not accused of forgery. Rather, he was accused of lying, when he said the army was in possession of his documents.

“In his form CF001, he presented an affidavit, instead of his certificates. PEPT relied on the CV presented. We are asking, is that supposed to be so? CV is basically to show working experience. No Primary School certificate. The judgement was based on inferences. The judge simply inferred.

“We are surprised that the PEPT went the way it did. It is our view that the judges would have gone further to help improve our electoral laws as well as use it to commence the reform of the electoral laws. So, these are some of the issues that form the grounds of the 70 points of appeal at the Supreme Court.”

Quote:Here is the moment Mercy kissed Ike and pulled down his shorts almost exposing his joystick on national tv.

After Saturday night party, Big Brother Naija housemates, Mercy and Ike were having a romantic moment at the garden when other housemates had gone to bed.

The BBNaija couple were kissing each other and it got really interesting when Mercy playfully pulled down Ike’s shorts which almost exposed his joystick if he hadn’t used his hands to cover it.

Oyinbo Husband Caught Wife In Bed With Another Man & Took Picture For Evidence

If you think you are having a bad day, then think about this twitter man, who walked in on his wife with another man and decided to take a picture for proof.

Simply identified as @BurnerYordan on the social networking site, gave his follower a hit on Friday September 20, 2019, regarding his relationship status, but many thought it was the usual couples’ fight.

“Officially single for the first time in 10 years” -he announced.

But that didn’t generate much attention, you could guess people wanted more and you’d be right.

Two days later, Mr. Yordan was not longer leaving any detail unreported as he took to the same platform to announce the root cause of his problem with wife.

Tinubu Fingered In Anti-Osinbajo Plot By Cabal - Daily Independent
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-22-2019, 12:41 PM - No Replies

Quote:That all is not well with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is not news, but the new development is the connection of his godfather and political benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the whole crisis.

Osinbajo, who is reportedly having a running battle with the Aso Villa cabal is also said not to be in the good book of Tinubu over his presidential ambition.

It was gathered that Tinubu had once approached the Vice President to ask if he was nursing any presidential ambition to which the latter replied in the negative.

Tinubu was said to have come across a video recording of a directive by Osinbajo to his political associates on his plan to start his campaign for his presidential ambition almost two years into the tenure of his boss.
The development was said to have angered Tinubu who noted that the Vice President cannot be trusted.

It was due to the disagreement that the vice president’s nominee for the commissionership slot in Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi George, was rejected by the State House of Assembly.

Besides, information gathered by Sunday Independent further revealed that some associates of the Vice President had sought information on certain dealings of Tinubu while working abroad, with the intention of using it against his benefactor during the presidential election.

Already, President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly met recently with Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, former Interim National Chairman of the APC, during which he complained about certain actions of the Vice President, and allegedly asked the duo to prevail on Osinbajo to resign his appointment from the cabinet.

While Akande was said to have opposed such action, Tinubu allegedly supported the President and claimed that nothing was wrong with Osinbajo quitting if found to be culpable in some actions taken behind the president and which Buhari was not happy about.

Already, several actions to further humble the Vice President out of office are in the pipeline. These include the sack of his associates from government and the plan not to renew the tenure of the present Chairman of the Federal Internal Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Babtunde Fowler.

The recent query issued to Fowler by the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the president, Abba Kyari, on the agency’s inability to meet revenue projection target, is said to have a link with the political orchestra being planned against the Vice President.

Fowler’s query was part of the underground moves by Buhari and the cabal in the presidency to systematically undo Osinbajo in government, especially when the query meant to be an official document was leaked to the press.

“What should have been ‘a top government secret’ was leaked to bring down the FIRS boss, who was a member of the Economic Management Team (EMT), and to actually spite Osinbajo,” said a source.

It was further gathered that the retention of former Director General of Department of State Service (DSS), Lawal Daura, in the Presidency as adviser to the president, had strengthen the opposition against the Vice President.

Daura allegedly wrote reports which the cabal wanted to use to nail the Vice President. Daura despite his sack has continued to retain his official quarters in the Villa and working directly with the President.

Besides, the plan to deal with Osinbajo informed the decision not to give him any ministerial slot and the refusal of the president to retain his nominee and former Minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, said to be a close associate of the Vice President.

But, while the anti-Osinbajo action was being implemented by the presidency, sources close to the Vice President said he was unperturbed and believe he still enjoys the confidence of the president.

Although, there are fears that the ongoing hostility could affect the implementation of the economic programmes of the Federal Government, sources said the cabal is not yet done until it punishes Osinbajo for actions taken while he stood in for his boss as Acting President.

However, the Media Adviser to Tinubu, Mr. Tunde Rahman, rose stoutly in defence of his principal, saying he cannot undo the Vice President.

While speaking with Sunday INDEPENDENT on Saturday, Rahman said all speculations on the alleged rift between Tinubu and Osinbajo remained in the realms of conjecture.

“There is no truth in the allegation that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is against the Vice President. There is nothing stopping the Vice President from nursing a presidential ambition. If he wants to run, let him run. We are all watching and waiting. It is all a bundle of lies that Asiwaju Tinubu is unhappy about that. People are just politicising the situation. Tinubu cannot muscle his own boy in any way”, he said.

Osinbajo’s travail with the presidency cabal started when he sacked Daura, unarguably one of the ‘untouchables’ in the presidency, while Buhari was receiving medical treatment abroad.

Presidency sources noted that the Vice President was not forgiven for daring to move so decisively against Daura. Osinbajo also committed another unthinkable ‘sin’ when he forwarded the name of Walter Onoghen to the Senate to be confirmed when it was clear his role in acting capacity would expire without confirmation.

It was said to be a mischief from the presidency in the first place to have appointed Onoghen in acting capacity, the first of such strange appointment that showed he was no favourite of the cabal to be made Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The first sign of trouble arising from those incidents was the budget being sent all the way to London for Buhari to sign into law on his hospital bed while Osinbajo was acting.

Last week, President Buhari announced a crack team of economists, led by Prof. Doyin Salami, as members of his Economic Advisory Council (EAC). The team replaces the EMT headed by Osinbajo.

Aside from Salami, a respected Professor of Economics at the Lagos Business School, who sits on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s monetary policy board, the team also includes Dr. Mohammed Sagagi as vice chairman, a former presidential chief economic adviser, Prof. Ode Ojowu, a former IMF Country Representative for Sierra Leone, Dr. Iyabo Masha, and a former CBN governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. Others are Mr. Bismark Rewane, Dr. Shehu Yahaya and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Development Policy, Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu, who doubles as the team’s Secretary.

The new team, which reports directly to the president, is to advise on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues, working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.

While many Nigerians highlight the positives of the action, there had been greater measure of dissents, who believe that the President’s action, in the same fell swoop, was sheer propaganda aimed at further cutting down on Osinbajo’s already lean powers.

The deduction is that the latest move is part of a salvo aimed at whittling the importance of the office of the Vice President and indeed, the occupant of the office, all as part of the game-plan ahead of the next political dispensation in 2023.

Nigeria Detained Children As Young As Five Over Boko Haram Links - The Guardian
User Avatar Forum: News

The Nigerian military arrested thousands of children it suspected of involvement with Boko Haram, holding them in squalid conditions for years in some cases, according to a new report.

Some of the children detained were as young as five, and others described being crammed into overwhelmingly hot, crowded cells in a notorious military facility in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri called Giwa barracks, said a report released by Human Rights Watch.

The allegations, which the Nigerian military denies, fit into a wider pattern of alleged abuses on the part of the country’s security forces, which have been battling the extremist group Boko Haram for more than a decade.

Thousands of women and girls who believed they were being rescued were allegedly abused in exchange for food and other basics. In 2015, Amnesty International said at least 7,000 people had died in military detention in the north-east. More recently, thousands of displaced people have been sent back to unsafe areas to provide a bulwark against Boko Haram, according to officials in Borno.

More than 3,600 children, including 1,617 girls, were detained by the Nigerian armed forces between 2013 and 2019, according to data collected by the UN, though Human Rights Watch said Nigerian authorities have not allowed the UN access to military detention sites to verify these figures. It is not known how many children are currently in detention.

Before arriving in Giwa barracks, several children described beatings at the hands of security forces, the report said.

Ten-year-old Ibrahim said his family had fled their village after an attack by Boko Haram when he was five and had been arrested several days later by the military.

“We said we escaped from Boko Haram, but the military did not believe us,” he said. “They said that we were part of Boko Haram. They hit us children with a rope of animal skin and slapped our parents with the flat end of a long knife. They beat us every day.”

Saeed, 17, who was initially detained in the town of Banki, said he was beaten by the Civilian Joint Task Force, a vigilante group working with the military, in the presence of soldiers.

“They asked me if I was a member of Boko Haram and beat me up when I said no. They tied my hands and legs and hung me to a tree and continued to flog me. They flogged me and left me tied to the tree from morning till evening … They shot some people and even beat others to death with sticks.”

Once they arrived at the barracks, children said they had to sleep close “like razor blades in a pack”, with up to 300 people in a cell, sharing one toilet. Almost half the children who were spoken to said they had seen the dead bodies of other detainees, who some thought had died because of the heat.

A spokesman for Nigeria’s defence headquarters said the military did arrest children attempting to detonate explosives and “provide tacit support to insurgents”, including information on troop movements, but that children were treated as “victims of war and not as suspects”.

“Apprehended children are kept in secured places, where they are adequately fed, profiled and de-radicalised before their release,” said Onyema Nwachukwu.

Amnesty International Reacts As Buhari Govt Slams Treason Charges On Sowore
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-22-2019, 09:52 AM - No Replies

Amnesty international has reacted to the seven-count charge of treasonable felony and money laundering against detained activist and Convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore by the Federal Government.

Sowore, a presidential candidate in the February 2019 presidential election was charged along with Olawale Bakare, also known as Mandate.

The charges were signed on behalf of t‎he Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), by Aminu Alilu, a Chief State Counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions of the Federation‎, the Federal Ministry of Justice.

In the charges instituted against the defendants, the prosecution accused Sowore and his co-defendant of committing conspiracy to commit treasonable felony in breach of section 516 of the Criminal Code Act by allegedly staging “a revolution campaign on September 5, 2019 aimed at removing the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The prosecution also accused them of committing the actual offence of reasonable felony in breach of section, 4(1)© of the Criminal Code Act, by using the platform of Coalition for Revolution, in August 2019 in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, to stage the #RevolutionNow protest allegedly aimed at removing the President.

It also accused Sowore of cybercrime offences in violation of section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention) Act, by “knowingly” sending “messages by means of press interview granted on Arise Television network which you knew to be false for the purpose of causing insult, enmity, hatred and ill-will on the person of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Reacting, Amnesty international in a post on its verified Twitter page condemned the charges.

The global rights human organization described the charges against Sowore “as an attempt by the Nigerian authorities to deprive Sowore of his human rights”

The post read: “Amnesty International condemns the bizarre charges pressed on activist Omoyele Sowore for expressing his views in media interviews.

“The trumped up charges he is facing show an attempt by the Nigerian authorities to deprive him of his human rights; Omoyele Sowore continued incarceration on application of the Terrorism Act for exercising his right to freedom of expression is a misuse of the criminal system to silence dissent.

“We call on the Nigerian authorities to respect and protect human rights of all persons without discrimination and ensure that it does not use its laws to justify violations of Omoyele Sowore human rights.”

Tribunal orders election re-run in 22 polling units in Kaduna State after it sacked Morondia Tanko of  PDP

The National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Kaduna state, on Saturday, September 21st ordered a re-run in 22 polling units of Kagarko State Assembly Constituency, after it sacked Morondia Tanko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the Assembly lawmaker.

Nuhu Shadalafiya former deputy Speaker of the State Assembly and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had challenged the victory of Tanko and PDP in the March 9 election.

The tribunal, headed by Justice Adamu Suleiman, in a unanimous decision ordered for a re- run in the 22 affected polling units across two wards in the area. A member of the tribunal, Justice Maimuna Abubakar who read the judgment, said the petitioner had proven his case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to her, Shadalafiya petitioned the Tribunal alleging that the election was characterized by malpractices such as over-voting, manipulations and violence. She said the petitioner provided proof that all the alleged electoral malpractices were committed in the affected polling units.

Quote:Part of the judgment read: “that election be re-run in two wards, polling unit 001 to polling unit 018 because the margin between the first respondent and the petitioner is 2,318 votes as the petitioner got 24,008 votes and the first respondent got 36,302 votes.
“However, the result of the over voting filed in the petition was 9,702 votes for the first respondent and 2,128 for the first petitioner thus showing overvoting in the election. Hence the need for a re-run in the 22 polling units of Kagarko Local government of Kaduna State was delivered as the judgement by the tribunal.“
After the judgement, Shadalafiya said the tribunal shunned technicalities and allowed justice to prevail.  “Because the truth of the matter was that, there was overvoting and we proved that beyond reasonable doubt because it was well-spelt out. The margin of the over-voting was about eleven thousand and I benefited with two thousand votes while he benefited with nine thousand. And today his 9,000 votes were removed, my 2,000 votes also removed. I was left with over 21,000 while he was left with 16,000 votes.“

He thanked the judiciary for doing the needful in the matter saying: “I give glory to our party and our leader Malam Nasiru El-Rufai who encouraged me to come to tribunal.”  Shadalafiya thanked the people of Kagarko and all his supporters including clergymen, who prayed for his success.  He urged them to massively give him their votes during the the re-run.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 22ND SEPTEMBER.

MORE THAN SKILL AND DEXTERITY

…I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship (Exodus 31:3).

It takes much more than skill and dexterity to do God’s work. You have to be filled with the Spirit! Recall what we read in our opening scripture.

The Lord specifically appointed Bezaleel for an assignment, but He had to fill him with the Spirit first
Church maintenance, the music or technical department, children’s ministry, the first timers’ ministry, the ushering department, pastoral care units, cell ministry, etc., are all aspects of pastoral work. You can’t do them through the flesh, but by the Spirit. You must, and always, do what you do in the house of God and in the Kingdom by the power of the Spirit, otherwise, it’ll be of no divine significance or impact.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:5-6, “…our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” It’s the Spirit that gives life; therefore, your work and service in the house of God must be sanctified by Him.

In Romans 15:15-16, Paul testified of the grace given to him to be a minister of God to the Gentiles. Then, he prayed “…that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” There’s no ministry without the Holy Spirit. Nothing succeeds without Him.

If you function in any capacity as a leader or worker in the church, the Spirit must sanctify your work! Zechariah 4:6 says, “...Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” There’s a constant infilling of the Spirit that you require, and must experience, as you walk with the Lord. Read Ephesians 5:18-21 to learn how to be filled with the Spirit, always.

PRAYER

I do all things by the power of God’s Spirit. I’m continually filled with the Spirit, in wisdom, sound judgement, knowledge, glory and dominion! Therefore, I experience unstoppable success and ever-increasing glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

22ND SEPTEMBER.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Lord, thank You for imparting faith into my heart through Your Word. My faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Daily, as I demonstrate my faith, circumstances bow to me; obstacles are eliminated, and I walk in supernatural success and prosperity.

I exercise dominion over sickness, poverty, disease, failure, and the elements of this world. I am unconquerable; a victor on every count. I thank You for giving me such a great life.

I am in union and fellowship with the Spirit; thus, I walk in Your perfect will today, and in my glorious inheritance in Christ. I am guided by the Holy Spirit; His wisdom is expressed through me today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Keto Plus Pro Your frame is changed for the most component to feature on Ketosis.   Who Is Afraid Of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo? By Dele Momodu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

WHO IS AFRAID OF VICE PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO?

BY DELE MOMODU

Fellow Nigerians, please allow me to quickly apologise for not concluding the series I started last week on the importance of celebrity journalism, the basis of my Fellowship at The African Studies Centre, University of Oxford. The reason for this change of plan must be pretty obvious, and predictable. A subject of pressing, and urgent, importance, and necessity, has presented itself. And it has to do with the systematic and instalmental, harassment, intimidation, degradation and denudation of our dear beloved Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. He is being shorn of most of his statutory and constitutional powers with veiled and unsubstantiated insinuations that he has not been following due process when he clearly has been doing a stickler for such due process. Such inferences are at best rich when one considers that we are talking about a Presidency in which the President is famed for delegating powers and trying not to engage as demonstrated by the much publicised stripping of his constitutional powers in favour of a Chief of Staff who has no constitutional or statutory governmental authority. The contradiction and irony are stark and makes a mockery of what is being done. The situation is aptly captured by the Yorubas when they say, “ejo l’owo ninu” (the snake has hands in its stomach)! There is certainly more to the recent events than meets the eye!

Let the dramatis personae deny there is nothing of such and claim this is only a figment of our fertile imagination, or even call it a false alarm, or whatever nomenclature catches their fancy. However, no matter the denials, what is unfolding, before our very eyes is more than a storm in a teacup. It is a stuff of a multi-billion-dollar box office thriller and the suspenseful drama and twists would make Alfred Hitchcock green with envy. Not even Samuel Beckett could have scripted this sort of absurdist drama.

We can now start from the beginning, if you like, call it genesis. A cerebral technocrat, thoroughbred professional, a teacher who is an accomplished Professor of Law for that matter, and a preacher of values and morals as a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to boot, Yemi Osinbajo, was selected by retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari as Vice Presidential candidate sometime in 2014. The selection was applauded by many onlookers as a counterbalance to a Presidential candidate who was accused, and being pummelled, for not possessing the minimum educational requirement for the job applied, and also as a reassurance to those who regarded the APC candidate as a Muslim fundamentalist. Beyond religion, Osinbajo also represented a much younger segment of our society who saw Buhari as being too old, too conservative, too out of tune with modern trends and much more. Osinbajo was thus a seemingly perfect choice, and those of us who were Buharists, once upon a time, rejoiced and dreamt of a new Nigeria, clothed in tranquillity and unity. How wrong we were. Little did we realise that this was not a one-part story but one of which we were only seeing the prequel, without the benefit that there would be a sequel and possibly even a serialisation! We foolishly thought that this was a story that could not have a Part 2.

Please, let’s move forward, slowly and steadily. Osinbajo soon threw himself into his assignment and campaigned much more than any deputy would be expected to do. It was a forerunner of what we wished for and hoped would occur when eventually their team won the election. He crisscrossed Nigeria and navigated his ways across the seas, to far flung places, preaching the gospel of Saint Buhari and the good news of his imminent kingdom. Osinbajo is not just a lawyer and preacher, he is an orator, and he sold his boss to the world at a premium. They won the 2015 Presidential election and we were mostly thankful to God that we had succeeded in getting rid of the profligate and pernicious PDP behemoth, after 16 years.

The duo was elected and President Buhari made it clear that he had put his trust and faith in his able lieutenant and Vice President, Professor Osinbajo. He quickly made him the head of his economic team, and Osinbajo did the rest. He quietly and unassumingly took charge without seeking to upstage his boss, the President. He was a deputy who knew his place and although a little-known cabal at the time was hurling brickbats at him behind the scene, he handled all with his unusual equanimity and charm. I am sure that his famed tolerance and rectitude comes from the fantastic combination of lawyer, teacher and priest.

Man proposes but God disposes. Like all mortals, especially at that advance age, President Buhari took Ill. The sickness was so massive and scary that we nearly had another Umaru Yar’Adua situation on our hands. It will be recalled that Yar’Adua was the penultimate President before Buhari, and he had died in office, in 2010, before the expiration of his first term. His Vice President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, had to complete that term before seeking and winning his own full term. Had anything happened to Buhari then, God forbid, Pastor Professor Osinbajo, constitutionally, would have stepped in, gingerly, to claim power as President and Commander-in-Chief. But, God so loved Buhari, and as he acknowledged himself, the prayers of Nigerians, and their intercession, intervened on his behalf, and healed him greatly.

It was during that interlude in governance that mutual mistrust and distrust which had been germinating for some time began to spring to the surface. Some members of the President’s inner caucus who were not used to taking orders from anyone suddenly found themselves reporting to one man with what they called “avuncular attitude”. They were angry and livid, but according to James Hadley Chase in his book titled, “The Vulture is a Patient Bird” they waited quietly. Osinbajo took decisions that they considered inimical to their interests, but they kept their arms akimbo knowing that their time would come, and they would bare their fangs. Their ire and fury were greatly stoked by the success and popularity that Osinbajo was attracting, without realising that the ultimate beneficiary was a government which had previously been seen as slow, inept and incapable.

Slowly, but surely, the fake news started spreading, clandestinely, that he wanted Buhari dead. The conspiracy theory was rife, but subdued. Osinbajo’s cardinal sin was committed and his fate probably sealed the day he summarily sacked the Director General of the Department of State Security, Lawan Daura, after the invasion of the National Assembly by hooded and gun-toting secret agents. Osinbajo had denied approving such dare-devilry by the executive against the legislature and till this day no one has owned up to what nearly became a coup against the legislative tier of government. Daura was seen as a sacred cow with friends in the ruling cabal, but Osinbajo by a masterstroke had him smitten and the head of one of the gargoyles had been severed by one deft blow! He would not be forgiven and plot after plot were conceived but could not be carried out before the election as Osinbajo was the Joker in the pack, the face of the Buhari Presidency!

Permit me to interject that Osinbajo actually brought stability to the nation by reaching out to every nook and cranny, cementing bonds of friendship across party lines. He visited the Niger-Delta and was able to put a stop to the militancy that was once again threatening to engulf that region of our country. In doing so he improved our economic fortunes by ensuring an increase in production of our main income earner, crude oil. In addition, he brought greater positive image to the Buhari government. Many silently prayed Buhari would give him more responsibilities, and a freer hand to handle the complexities of Nigeria. Again, we were wrong. Any respite for Osinbajo was actually simply for the purpose of navigating the electoral quagmire that the Buhari Presidency had found itself in.

Going back to our narrative, mercifully, Buhari returned after a miraculous rejuvenation. If his mind had been poisoned against his deputy, his straight poker face betrayed nothing. They continued to work harmoniously, at least, in public. As noted, Osinbajo became even more visible, and voluble, as their second term election drew nearer. Osinbajo became their star actor and harbinger of Tradermoni, a popular moniker for feverish distribution of cash in strategic locations, such as markets and similar trading places, for the emancipation of impoverished majority, which traducers suggested was nothing more than an act preparatory to buying votes. Osinbajo took all the savage attacks for Buhari in his stride. He calmly and eloquently defused and debunked all the sordid allegations of incompetence, inability and incapability levelled at his principal. His energy was extraordinary. He did house to house, and door to door campaigns. He made town hall meetings popular and the people trooped out to see and discuss the nation with him. The use of the hustings as the primary focus of the politician to rabble rouse and appeal to voters became a less favourable option as Osinbajo demonstrated that it was important to feel the pulse of the people by personal engagement. He even cheated death on two occasions the second being in Kogi State, after his chopper spectacularly crashed in a haze of dust, but thankfully, not in a burst of flames and everyone onboard survived without as much as a scratch. It was obvious that this was an anointed man of God and that God was with him and his house.

Elections came and APC candidate Buhari was declared victorious. I congratulated them, as normal Democrats would. When there were compelling reasons to do so shortly afterwards, I admonished the APC by adding the proviso that the Party should not over-rejoice but offer an olive branch to the supposed losers.

In a succinct letter I penned to Professor Osinbajo, I took time to explain how to restore sanity to the polity. My letter was misconstrued and instantly rebuffed as an attempt to divide the “one indivisible Presidency…” I was brutally attacked by some people in the office of the Vice President, but I understood their predicament. They were jittery about how the hawks would view my innocuous intervention and genuine intentions. I read panic in their response to me. But I knew today will come, eventually, like it has.

I’m a good student of Nigeria’s political history and trajectory. I’m familiar with the African mythology that witches don’t forgive. What is worse, witches don’t spare anyone, they eat and devour their own children, when in need of flesh. Osinbajo is the latest victim in the vicious cycle of power games in our country. He is being stripped of the last vestiges of relevance and importance, as typified by how the appurtenances of his relatively powerful office have been whittled down and almost totally degraded. His enemies are working overtime and overdrive by spreading spiteful rumours about one of the finest gentlemen in government. He may not be perfect, but Prof is a good man who loves his job and respects his boss, without doubt.

There are already speculations that all the theatre and spectacle that we are witnessing is a prelude to a more devastating attack. The aim is to try and make his position so tenuous untenable that he is forced to resign. If he does not bite the bullet or fall on his sword, my understanding is that he will be pushed. My candid advice and word of caution to the President is that he should resist such temptation. He should not listen to those who do not have any patriotic bone in their body. They are selfish, fearful and also weak. In Osinbajo they see their nemesis. He is everything that they are not. He has achieved outstanding and amazing success in every sphere that he has touched. He is a teacher of international renown and repute, a foremost legal mind, a pastor of great intellect, compassion and suasion. Worse still for them, he has come to their turf and shone as bright as the stars of the constellation to become a consummate politician.

If this game that we are all witnessing is all about who becomes what in 2023, it is complete balderdash. The reason I say so is very simple. Only God gives fortune and power. And only God can take it. No matter how hard man may try, he can never be God, he can only play God. With time such actor will see that he is nothing more than that thespian who must quit the stage at some time or the other. On the other hand, the consecrated vicegerent of God can never be too much honoured and adored. At my age, I have known and met enough men and women of power. Many of them are alive and must be wondering what the fuss was all about in those years gone by. APC has butchered some of its finest people. Do they need more to prove their virility? They should spare Nigeria this endless charade.

Let it be on record that I pleaded.

May God’s will be done.

We expect up to 25% of trainees to die during recruitment — Ex-Defence spokesman Gen. Agim

Former spokesman of the Defence Headquarters, Gen. John Agim Agim (rtd) has revealed that they expect 15-25% of successful applicants in each recruitment to die during training.

Gen. Agim stated that the expectation of death in training is why applicants sign a bond of being responsible for their decision when filling a form for the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Quote:“The military training we get already takes care of whatever situation we find ourselves. .

In training, we are taught how to survive in whichever situation we find ourselves. Even if we are captured by the enemy, we know how to survive so we don’t die as a prisoner of war. .

So by the time we go for the real operations, to us it usually looks like a rehearsal because we have already seen the worst during trainings.

I urge Nollywood film makers to try and see ways of how they can produce a few of our drills so that the public can know some of the things that we go through. .

I can assure you that we have a robust training that when you come out of it alive, you know that it is not you but God. You can go for several days without food. .

And for each of our recruitments, there is a percentage expected to die during training. And that could be as much as between 15 and 25%. .

That alone shows you that it is no play zone or a boys scout lifestyle. That is why when filling a form to the Nigerian Defence Academy, you sign a bond that you are responsible for your decision" he told The Nation.

American Airlines jet makes emergency landing after passenger began smoking weed and became aggressive (video)

An American Airlines jet was forced to make an unscheduled landing on Friday, September 20 after a passenger began smoking weed and became aggressive.

Flight 2408, going from Phoenix to Minneapolis, was diverted an hour into the flight due to a disruptive passenger.

According to TMZ, an  hour into the flight the pilot went on the intercom and said they had to make an emergency landing in Denver because of "a security issue in the back." After the pilot's announcement, passengers became anxious as they tried to figure out what was going on.

According to the publication, a man with dreads, who caused the commotion, ran to the back of the plane, into the bathroom and locked the door. Flight attendants were concerned and huddled around the bathroom door, trying to coax the guy out, to no avail.

The man reportedly stayed in the bathroom for 10 minutes and then, 5 minutes before the plane landed, he left the bathroom and went back to his seat. He was very jittery and, when the plane landed, cops and EMTs went onboard.

It's at this point that the video below begins. The man pulls out a joint and a lighter and starts smoking. The pilot then came on the intercom and asked passengers in the first 13 rows to get off the plane, so they could remove the man. As they deplane, the man with dreads punches one of the passengers.

Denver Police tell TMZ that the man in the video was not arrested. Police on the scene determined the issue was more medical and the unruly passenger was taken to a hospital.

His medical status is not currently known.

There were no reported injuries to anyone on the plane and the aircraft re-departed after the unruly passenger was taken off.

Heartbreaking video shows man slapping a baby and flinging him on the floor multiple times as he forces him to stand on his own

A heartbreaking video showing a man slapping a baby multiple time and lifting him into the air before tossing him to the ground, also multiple times, has caused outrage.

In the shocking video, the man is seen trying to get the baby to stand on his own, but the boy couldn't, so he slaps him across the face multiple time and doesn't stop, even as the child cries.

He then positions the baby beside a table, with the child's hands on the table for support, and tries to get the baby to stand on his own. But the baby's legs wobble and this angers the man so, he slaps the baby on the stomach twice.

While this is going on, there's a boy seen lying on a couch. Someone is also behind the camera because the baby is seen looking at the person while crying, but the person doesn't come to the baby's aid.

The man then carries the baby away from the table, lifts him high into the air, and drops him on the floor. He does this multiple times, then continues beating the baby again.

It is not clear how many people are in the room as this happens but voices can be heard in the background.

The video was shared by actress and former Miss Lebanon, Nadine Nassib Njeim and she tagged the United Nations, asking them to intervene.

Instagram users are angered by the man's actions and they are calling for help in identifying the man and reporting him to the appropriate authorities for child abuse.

Charges Against Sowore Confirms Buhari Govt. Unprecedented Level Of Paranoia

Charges against Sowore confirms Buhari government's unprecedented level of paranoia — Wole Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has described the charges against Omoyele Sowore as a confirmation of the Buhari-led administration's unprecedented level of paranoia.

Revealing that he first dismissed the report as fake news, Soyinka added that 'Sowore's Issue' has moved beyond harassment and taken on a sinister direction. He further stated that the nation had failed to learn from past experiences.

He said, “This is utterly depressing news. So, the Sowore affair has moved beyond harassment and taken on a sinister direction. Outside the country where I happened to be engaged at the moment, I can testify that the immediate reaction around me was to dismiss this as yet another grotesque product of fake news, of which Nigerians have become the greatest practitioners. I confess that I also joined in this school of thought – at the start.

“Further checks have however confirmed that this government has indeed attained an unprecedented level of paranoia. I do not believe that the Justice department itself believes in these improbable charges, as formally publicised. So, once again, we inscribe in our annals another season of treasonable felony, History still guards some lessons we have yet to digest, much less from which to learn. Welcome to the Club, Mr. Omoyele Sowore.”

Recall that the Nigerian government filed a 7 count charge against Omoyele Sowore a day to the expiration of the 45-day detention order they obtained against the 2019 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in August. The charges centered on treasonable felony, insulting President Buhari and money laundering.

  30 Victims, 1 Apartment: Lagos Developer, Agents Defraud 279 House-seekers N65m
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 09-22-2019, 07:36 AM - No Replies

In the last few days, Ridwan Adebola has been stuck in a conundrum. He is unsettled at home and workplace each time he remembers that the new owner of his rented apartment on Demurin Street, Ketu, Lagos State, could suddenly surface and send him and his family packing. A clearing agent at the Apapa port, the six-month notice to quit he was served had elapsed in August, making him to fear that the current landlord could take possession any time soon.

As a responsible father of two, Adebola prepared for the next accommodation to relocate his family immediately he received the notice. Towards that, he worked very hard to increase his savings and by April, he had successfully raised N150,000. He was happy, believing he would not be caught napping when his tenancy expired.

On his way to work on a Monday morning mid-April, he saw a notice advertising a 15-apartment building for rent at No 1 Karimu Street – about 2 kilometres away from his residence. Swiftly, he called the number on the ad and hooked up with one Akin who identified himself as an Agent. Adebola later met with the developer in charge of the building, Teslim Alabi. He inspected the house which was almost completed then, and agreed to rent a bed-roomed flat.

Mindful of losing the apartment to other house seekers whom he was told had also indicated interest, he paid N150,000 into Alabi’s bank account and few days later, he paid another N165,000 to complete the payment for the rent, agreement and commission fees. That day in early May, he arrived home with a receipt to the embrace of his wife and his two kids who were happy they had got another home. But few hours before June 23 when he was supposed to get the keys to his supposedly new apartment, it turned out that he had fallen victim to a fraudulent syndicate.

“We were about to sleep around 11 pm on June 22 when my wife’s friend alerted us that there was a crowd in front of a newly rented apartment on Karimu Street, lamenting that they had been defrauded,” Adebola recalled, sounding dejected.

He said, “I rushed down there and met a lot of people protesting. The 15 apartments were already occupied whereas over 200 people paid rent to the developer. I paid N315,000 in two instalments. Rent was N220,000 and N100,000 for commission and agreement fees. I begged them before they removed N5,000 from the total sum. Unfortunately, the agent that took me to the house is nowhere to be found and his line is not going through.

“My landlord has sold the building I live in since February and he gave us 6 months’ notice which ended in August. The owner can send us out any time from now. I have been running around, looking for means to rent another apartment. Where will I take my wife and two children to when they send us out?”

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Adebola was one of the 279 intending tenants Alabi and his accomplices allegedly swindled out of about N65m rent. The middle-aged developer was arrested by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian Police in Ikoyi following a petition by the victims. His cohorts are still at large.

Our correspondent gathered that the police also invited a suspect who leased the land to Alabi for 20 years. While police investigation continues, tales of regrets and frustrations have taken the better part of the unsuspecting victims. Many of them had taken loans to pay the rent, thereby leaving them with a double burden.

A hotel worker, Akeem Mohammed, is another victim whose plight dwarfed Ademola’s. He had anticipated Sunday, June 23 with bated breath. Before the deal went awry, the 38-year-old man was supposed to move into one of the flats within the building having paid a rent of N400,000, including commission and agreement fees.

“I received a six-month notice to quit from my landlord and it expired in June,” the father of three said as he began to narrate the chain of events leading to his tribulation to Saturday PUNCH. He went on, “I got a loan from my employer to pay for the rent. It was a friend who informed me that the building was open for rent. I made a series of inspections before I paid in January when the building was under construction. I paid directly to Mr Teslim Alabi.

“He and his agents told me to come for inspection anytime I like. I went there and saw the progress of the work. They told me and some people I met in the course of my inspection to come on June 23 for our keys. On getting there, I met an angry crowd. About 20 people paid for one apartment! In my own flat, we were over 30 persons that met there. It was a woman lawyer who arrived first that got the key.”

After being thrown out by his landlord upon the expiration of the notice, Mohammed, his wife and their three children had turned squatters. “My wife and our three children are with my sister-in-law while I squat with a friend. I have been struggling, by all means, to raise money to get another apartment while I am still repaying the loan I collected from my employer. School fees of my children are also there, but I am not thinking of that now. I want to get an apartment first,” he remarked, his eyes red with tears.

“At least, 279 people were affected. The building contains ‘five room-and-parlour apartments’ (five units of one-bedroomed flat) while the remaining 10 are self-contained apartments. Mr Alabi collected N400,000 from me. By the time all of us came together and calculated the money, it was about N65m,” Mohammed, who coordinates a platform comprising all the victims, added.

Saturday, September 14, 2019, was a landmark in the life of Regina Onyeke, a Public Administration graduate and fashion designer, as it was the day she turned 30. In lieu of fun, merry and excitement that should characterise the historic day, the single mother was soaked in sorrow.

Five months ago, the native of Benue State relocated to Lagos upon securing employment at a logistics company in the Ogudu area of Lagos metropolis. Cheerful and expectant of better days ahead, she arrived at Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre with her five-year-old son.

Onyeke pleaded with her married cousin to allow her and her son stay with the family for two weeks while she searched for an apartment to rent.

“My cousin recommended an agent who took me to the house on Kareem Street,” she intoned. “I sold my machines to raise the money and pay for the rent. I was supposed to pay N350,000 for a year and six months’ rent. I had paid N250, 000. I was awaiting my June salary to complete the payment when I knew about the fraud. I paid into the man’s (Alabi’s) account on May 15 and he said the house would be ready in June.”

As if the woe was not enough, Onyeke while shuttling between rights groups offices and police formations in search of justice, she got relieved of her hard-fought appointment. “My boss said I was not regular on duty and he sacked me. I had to take my son back home. My plan was to enrol him in a school here in Lagos in September (this month) when the school resumes,” she disclosed emotively.

A civil servant, who gave her name only as Yetunde, is still struggling to reconcile her memory with the drama that played out at the disputed house on June 23. That day, in the morning, she bid her neighbours in Ikorodu farewell as she crammed her belongings into a pick-up van, heading for her newly-rented apartment.

“I met a large crowd as I arrived at the house,” she exclaimed. “I have yet to come out of the trauma. I paid N250,000 into the man’s account. He assured me that I would move in on June 23. My aim was just to collect the key and move in that Sunday.”

Similar to Yetunde’s unpleasant condition was that of Maria Adegbenle, a mother of two, whose husband also lost N250, 000 to the fraud. “We had already moved out of our former place. My two children and I now live with my mother-in-law while my husband is squatting with his friend,” she said.

At 32, it is time Stanley Nwankwo, a pharmacist, tied the nuptial knot and plans were in the pipeline. First on the preparation list was to get an apartment relatively befitting of a new couple. He stated, “I saw the notice at Tipper Garage (Ketu) and called the phone number. It was a lady who picked the call. She directed me to an agent called Joseph who took me to the house, where I met with Teslim (Alabi). I paid N350,000 for a room and parlour with two toilets. The rent was N250,000 while the remaining N100,000 was for agreement and commission fees. I had gone there on June 23 to collect the key only to find out that it was a fraud.

“I planned to marry this year but the incident has shattered my plan. It was a huge setback but I believe God has a reason for everything. I borrowed money to pay for the house. I am still repaying the loan. Except there is no God, those people (who defrauded me) won’t go free.”

Emeka Chukwura from Delta State had been visiting “the megacity” on and off since 2012. In May 2018 when he secured employment at an IT company on Victoria Island, he relocated permanently. As he saved part of his salary, he put up with his relation in Surulere pending when he would have enough money to rent an apartment.

Like most of the victims, he came across an agent, one Prince, in March through a contact number he saw on a notice pasted by the roadside. “Prince took me round the compound and he told me that once I paid, he would give me the key,” Chukwura disclosed. “I paid N230,000 directly into Alabi’s account in April 2019 for a self-contained apartment and he gave me a receipt. The rent was N150,000; N80,000 was for the agreement and commission fees as well as the caution fee."

He explained that when he wanted to move into the apartment in April as it was initially agreed, the fraudsters told him they had some issues with the Lagos State Government which delayed the completion of the house. He stated, “They begged me to come back in May. I went but they asked me to come back on June 22. They said that was when they would give everybody key. I was there to get the key so that I could move in the following day which was a Sunday. Surprisingly, I saw many people who also rented the same apartments.

“I was looking for an apartment I could afford and the house was perfect for me when I saw it. It was within the range I could afford; that was why I quickly paid not knowing I was dealing with fraudsters. I was supposed to leave my cousin’s house 6 months ago, and now I have overstayed. I just had to beg him. Unfortunately, he is packing out by the end of the year. I have to struggle to raise money by December and get an apartment. He married recently and it is like I inconvenience the new couple because the original plan was for me to leave in March. Though the apartment is a 2-bedroom flat, we have so many loads there and everywhere is filled up.”

Chukwura commended the Lagos State Government for taking up the matter, urging it to follow through the case and ensure that their money was refunded. He added, “We went to a human rights lawyer. Unfortunately, the money she charged us was so much. She requested about N1m to begin the case. We just lost money and you are asking us to bring such an amount of money. That is why we are happy that the state government is getting involved in the issue. We hope that the case will be followed through. What we want is a refund of our money.”

An official of a second generation bank in the Anthony area of Lagos, Theresa Amadi, also shared her sad encounter with the conmen with Saturday PUNCH. She had paid rent for a self-contained apartment to Alabi so she could relocate from the one-room apartment she resides in. Part of her plans was that her two children who are based in Ibadan, Oyo State, would move to Lagos.

She explained, “I go to Ibadan every two weeks which is not very convenient for me. I wanted my daughters to be living with me here in Lagos so that I can properly look after them. I paid N175,000 for a self-contained apartment, remaining N25,000 balance which I promised to pay on the day I get the key. I got the apartment through an agent called Akeem. His number has not been going through since the developer was arrested. I saw his (Akeem) number in front of the office of an estate agent in Ikosi-Ketu, but I later found out he was not the owner of the office.”

Alabi has been charged and remanded in Ikoyi prison just as the office of the Attorney General of Lagos State is taking up the prosecution. While the judicial process lasts, hundreds of families affected by the fraud continue to bewail their losses. For how long they will wait to get justice, is unknown to them. For now, they are still bemoaning, crying that they get a refund speedily.

Man dies during underwater proposal to girlfriend

An American man identified as Steven Weber Jr died during an underwater proposal which went wrong this week in Tanzania.

Steven Weber Jr. of Baton Rouge in Louisiana who proposed to his girlfriend, Kenesha during their trip to Tanzania this week never got to hear her say "YES" as he couldn’t hold his breath long enough to list all the things he loved about her.

Antoine took to Facebook on Friday September 20, to confirm the death of her boyfriend in a touching tribute where she shared their final moments together.

Quote:She wrote "There are no words adequate enough to honor the beautiful soul that is Steven Weber, Jr. You were a bright light to everyone you encountered. You never met a stranger, and you brought so much joy to so many people. You were kind, compassionate, you regularly made me cry with laughter, and you showered me with a love like none I’d ever experienced.
You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, “Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!” We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable. I will try to take solace in the fact that we enjoyed the most amazing bucket list experiences these past few days, and that we both were so happy and absolutely giddy with excitement in our final moments together.
Just a couple days before you died, you said to me, “I’ve seen a few cancer patients on this trip, and it dawned on me that this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing that people want to experience before they die. And here we are in the prime of our lives doing this. We are so blessed.”
Yes, we were, my perfect love, my angel, my soul. Yes, we were, and I will carry the blessing of the love we shared with me forever. I will find you and marry you in the next lifetime, and the next, and the next, and the next... I love you so much, and I always will.
Please pray for all the family and friends that loved him so much. Please love each other while you can, as hard as you can. I know that wherever in the universe Steven’s spirit now resides, that is exactly what he’s doing: giving love and spreading joy and laughter. And knowing him, always quick with an off-color joke, he’s probably entertaining someone with a story about how he royally screwed up that proposal and died while being extra.
Rest well, my sweet baby! Always know that you are forever loved!"

Man who robs prostitutes arrested in Edo (photo)

The Edo state police command has arrested 30-year old, Godstime Ogechi, who specialises in robbing prostitutes in Ugbiyoko, Egor local government area of the state.

A statement released from the command states that Ogechi is a one-man gang that uses a rod-like gun to rob call girls under the pretence of paying them to spend the night with him. The police says Ogechi takes his victims to a dark street where he would bring out the rod and the girls thinking that it is a gun, would give him their phones and money including the one he paid them.

Ogechi was arrested when he went to one of the brotherls to pick up a girl and the call girls in the brothel were able to recognise him.

When interrogated, Ogechi said he has lost count of the number of girls he has robbed.

Quote:“I don’t have any gang. I operate along Ekenwan road. I pick street girls at night and rob them. I will chat with them and tell them I want to take them for daybreak. When we get to a dark corner, I will bring out this thing like a gun and threaten them. They will give me their phones. I cannot remember the number of girls I have robbed. I was caught when one of the girls ran away after I have paid her. I went back to the spot I picked her from and demanded for my money. She raised alarm.” he said

Flood submerges over 150 communities in Kogi State

Kogi Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Sanusi Yahaya, announced that over 150 communities have been submerged following flooding in nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.

Yahaya made the disclosure while addressing newsmen after a stakeholders meeting at the state emergency operation centre on Saturday, September 21st in Lokoja. The commissioner noted that the centre had been activated as the state was already experiencing flood emergency.

Yahaya who is also the State Coordinator, Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), said that out of the nine local government areas located along the banks of River Niger and Benue, seven LGAs were severely affected while other two were not so severe. He said the LGAs severely affected are: Ibaji, Kogi Koton Karfe, Lokoja, Ofu, Ajaokuta, Omala and Idah, saying over 90 per cent of Ibaji communities have been submerged.

Quote:”Particularly, majority of communities at Ibaji are under water, and many households have been affected and displaced. As we speak, the water level has risen very high to about 10.60m on Saturday in Lokoja from the report of the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA). In the last few days, many communities, settlements have been displaced as a result of flooding,” he said.
He said that over 20 camps had been opened by the government to accommodate flood victims, which were spread across the nine affected LGAs. Yahaya advised residents of flood-prone areas and affected communities to relocate to safer places or move to the nearest camps opened by the state and local governments, to avoid loss of lives and properties.

He added that with the activation of the state emergency centre, the state was collaborating with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
Quote:“The state needs help; while we are working within the resources available to us, we need temporary shelter provision, food, non-food items and water, which the affected victims would need.
In terms of efforts to document the displaced persons; the profiling is ongoing and we will keep updating the number of the affected households and persons. Our officers are in the field profiling, and we have to put it together before we can give out figure, and this figure will keep changing day by day,” he said.
The commissioner said the number of households as at Saturday at Gadumo axis was 215, Ganaja 176, Galili axis 272, and Adankolo axis 246, under Lokoja and Ajaokuta LGAs.  He, however, noted that no human casualty has been recorded in terms of death, but stressed that the victims were facing precarious situation.  The commissioner urged the Federal Government through NEMA to come to the aid of the state.

He named some of the submerged communities as Adankolo, Gadumo, Egan, Budon, Kinani, Esikaku, Oreza, Edimose, Enumayi, Ogbangede, Iganumo, Bagana, Obakume, and Idirisu. Others are Edeha, Adabode, Edegaki, Akpaku, Okpaka, Adamogu, Kasemiya, Kpakpazi, Kelebe, Ozahi, Panda, Ikumo, Irenodu, Iganumo, Geregu, among several others.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) vaccination storage facility at the Ayegbaju Market in Osogbo, was on Saturday, September 21st razed by fire.

According to a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official, Ajinase Alade, attached to the facility, the fire started from a working power generator close to the WHO storage facility.

Quote:“The fire started at about 12:13 p.m from one of the power generator that was on to power the building where vaccines were stored. ”We quickly move to remove the cars packed close to the fire and mobilised to put out the fire.
But unfortunately, my motorcycle packed closed to the storage facility was, however, burnt by the fire while helping to remove the cars,” he said.

Mrs Adeosun Adebola, the Osun WHO Immunisation Officer, and State Cold Vaccine Coordinator said that the cold vaccine storage office was not affected by the fire but the dry vaccine outlet was razed by fire. She said a 60KVA generator, one 12KVA generator and two 18 KVA generators were also affected.  Adebola also said two photocopier machines and two motorcycles were also destroyed by the fire.
Quote:“I61,795 pieces of 0.05ml needles and syringe, 633,871 pieces of 0.5ml needles and syringe, 10,575 pieces of 5ml needles and syringe, 3,976 pieces of 2ml needles and syringe were destroyed by the fire. 8,654 pieces of immunisation safety boxes were also destroyed by the fire,” she said.

Adebola said the officials of the state government and WHO officials had been to the incident site to assess the level of damage done by the fire. A maintenance official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they applied self-effort to put out the fire from affecting and spreading to other buildings and stores within the market.

He said the state fire service was contacted when the fire started but they had to quickly fetch water from the store water tank around, some other people also helped to put out the fire before the fire service came.  “But unfortunately the storage facility was completely razed, ” he said.

XENOPHOBIA: Nigerians Find Safe Havens In Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Others

say we cannot go home empty-handed

Quote:By Okey Maduforo

While the Peace Airline continues to evacuate Nigerians from South Africa, up to 30 per cent of the population affected is returning home while a great number of them have already taken their business activities to other African countries.

Saturday Telegraph gathered that the population of Nigerians in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Liberia and Gabon has increased as most of the Nigerians resident in South Africa have relocated to those countries. In a telephone interview with some of them from Awka, Ozubulu and Ihiala, they lamented that they lost a lot in South Africa and could not come home to start life all over again. On his part, Mr. Jude Enukeme, lamented that: “What are we coming home to do? We left Nigeria because the environment is not friendly for business and our aim is to better the lives of our people when we return.

“But if we return home now, where do we start? If the Nigerian government wants us to come home, what arrangement has government put in place for us to continue our business?” “Are we returning home to face the same problem that made us leave the country? I have been in South Africa for two years now and my fortunes started changing for the better before the xenophobia problem and lost almost everything.”

Speaking also, Mr. Matthew Nwokoye, an auto mechanic, contended that he sold his workshop in Nigeria and all that he had to go to South Africa, lamenting that on his return to Nigeria, he had no place to start life again after four years of searching for greener pasture. He said: “As I speak with you I am in Zimbabwe and I have told my wife and parents not to worry about me, I will be fine.

I sold my mechanic workshop to go to South Africa and I cannot come home a failure and a liability to my family members. “The crisis in South Africa has opened our eyes to discover that it is not only there that one can do business and more than 80 of us are now in the country from South Africa and we have bright chances of making it and I can assure you that we will make it.” In countries like Liberia, Mozambique and even Gabon, Nigerian’s population has doubled as was confirmed by Mr. Chukwunonye Ikeagwu, a motor parts dealer. He said: “There are so many of them here in Mozambique and they are willing to work and do business here.

The problem with most of these countries is that their citizens are lazy and they enjoy a lot of welfare from their government so they are not interested in working. “Very soon Nigerians will take over all the jobs in these countries even in Gabon and Liberia because Nigerians are strong and hardworking. “Some stopped over in Mozambique before entering other countries in East and South Africa, but I pray they do not abuse the privileges that we are already enjoying in those countries.”

Speaking with some parents in Anambra State, they confirmed that their relatives are not returning home. “My son and his cousin called us to tell us that they are not coming home because they have nothing to show because of the problem in South Africa,” a parent said.

They said they had relocated to Mozambique while some said that they were now in Liberia and Zimbabwe to continue their business in those countries. At Ozubulu where the popular South African business man, known as Bishop comes from, villagers confirmed that most of their sons and daughters had refused to join the returnees.

“They are still in South Africa and most of them said they are remaining in South Africa and making business contacts in other parts of Africa,” a resident volunteered. Meanwhile, most hotels in those countries where Europeans reside have been populated by females perceived to be Nigerians who are alleged to be laughing all the way to the bank from commercial sex business.

“There are so many of our girls in those countries now and they prefer to do business in hotels where the whites come to relax and unfortunately, most of them are graduates from our universities and polytechnics. “They are paid in dollars and they have already formed a kind of union which understudies the number of Nigerians in every city including the men in order to avert any xenophobic attacks by the indigenes,” Mr. Joseph Iweha told Saturday Telegraph. He added: “Such name like Oduduwa Co-operative Society, Ikenga Investments, Niger Delta Brotherhood are organisations aimed at keeping a tab on their kinsmen doing business in those countries with known Nigerian citizens in those countries heading these organizations”.

These bodies, according to Iweha, will be registered with the local authorities presenting details of the kind of businesses Nigerians in those areas are doing and also to checkmate any attack by host communities.

Atikus Persistence Could Ignite Fresh Desire For Justice At The Court- Dr Olufon
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-21-2019, 06:00 PM - No Replies

The over eight-hour land-mark judgement of Wednesday, 11th September 2019, at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Abuja, by a five-member panel of eminent, articulate and proven jurists of the Nigerian Bench, headed by his lordship, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, which gave a resounding victory to President Muhammadu Buhari, has sent a very strong judicial signal to appellants, that electoral disputes/litigations could never be settled in the courts of public opinions, social media or pages of newspapers but in Constitutional Courts of competent jurisdiction, legally constituted for such duties!

But before that judgement which dismissed all prayers of the petition "in its entirety", the major litigant, Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), candidate, in his characteristic desperation, wrote to the President of the Appeal Court on 5th September, 2019, on the need not to allow his petition to be caught up by constitutional timeline since the Tribunal had on 21st August, 2019, reserved judgement after the petitioners and respondents - INEC, President Buhari, and his Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), adopted their final written addresses!

However, when the deed was done, head of the opposition PDP legal team had no choice than to eat the "humble pie", acknowledged the professionalism, thoroughness, legal prowess and outstanding conclusions of the cohesive team of the legal luminaries, who were united to dismiss in entirety, all of the three prayers sought by the appellants to nullify the victory of the winner of the Presidential Elections of 23rd February, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari, and declare the runner-up, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as winner in his stead!

RUMBLINGS BY PETITIONERS BEFORE THE D-DAY!
Weeks before the D-Day, PDP in frenzied desperation to sway public opinion in favour of Atiku Abubakar, the social, print and electronic media was orchestrated with all manner of postulations that negative reports by international observer groups, which alleged electoral malpractices, vote buyings, ballot boxes snatchings, security agents interventions at polling stations etc, should sway judgement in favour of the candidate who lost woefully!
Their three-pronged appeal was predicated on the following planks:
That the election was marred by irregularities;
That Atiku received more votes than Buhari and:
That the president did not have a secondary school certificate, a basic requirement to contest the election. PDP said it would appeal against the ruling at the Supreme Court!
President Buhari, according to the results released by INEC, garnered 61% of the votes as against the 41% of Atiku Abubakar at the 23rd February, 2019, election but that the 35.6% turn-out of the electorate was lower by 8.6%. compared with the 44% in 2015, and Atiku rejected the results hours after Buhari was declared winner with a promise that he would challenge the results at the Appeal Tribunal while his Party described it as a "direct assault on the integrity of our nation's justice system"!

*Contrary to PDP's stand, Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, congratulated President Buhari for his second victory over Atiku through a live broadcast because, he would not pay the nocturnal visits to Aso Villa like other opposition governors and party stalwarts - though he neither liked the President nor his policies!

SUMMARY OF THE LAND-MARK JUDGMENT THAT WOULD STAND THE TEST OF TIME!
The Jury was very painstaking in reading out the judgement through the lead Judge who initially decided pre-trial applications which favoured Atiku and his lead counsel before advancing into the main prayers of the appellants. The lead counsel's name which were abbreviated in some documents were accepted as genuine while ATIKU WAS DECLARED AS A BONA FIDE NIGERIAN AND NOT A CAMEROONIAN AS ALLEGED BY THE RESPONDENTS!
With analytical precision, one after the other, all arguments raised by the petitioners: from the crime of perjury in a sworn affidavit; to the existence of an INEC website/server; alleged electronic transfer of results through Card Readers to INEC's central server; vote-buying; criminal intervention by security agents (especially soldiers and policemen), to support electoral rigging by the APC; malpractices through ballot boxes snuffing/snatching at the polling booths with the connivance of policemen, etc, etc, were all succinctly treated without giving any room for ambiguity or controversy!

The lead Judge, Justice Garba, who took over from President of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, who was initially rejected by the PDP, for probable vested interests, adduced and quoted copiously from a plethora of decided cases ranging from the lower courts through to the Apex court in a manner of a jurist who knows his onions and conversant with extant laws in the terrain of legal jurisprudence! The English definitions of some contentious words were not left to doubt as the learned judge employed the Webster/Oxford and other dictionaries to lend credence to the judgement!

And the "coffin" of the judgement pronouncements which did not favour Atiku Abubakar, was finally nailed by two other distinguished judges of the panel, who further buttressed the conclusions of the lead judge on the prayers in respect of Perjury and Vote-Buying, which were unsubstantiated by neither evidences nor witnesses by the petitioners, according to the law!

ALL FIVE JUDGES DISMISSED THE APPEAL IN ITS ENTIRETY, STRESSED THAT THE ONUS OF PROOF RESTED SQUARELY ON THE APPELLANTS WHO FAILED TO PROVE THEIR ALLEGATIONS BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBTS!

ATIKU'S LEGAL TUSSLES BEFORE 2019!
The PDP Presidential Candidate at the 2019, General Elections, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, (1999-2007), suffered public disgrace/humiliation in the hands of his principal, Chief Aremu Obasanjo who accused him of alleged crimes of official corruption, aggrandizement and abuse of office during their second term, all in a bid to scuttle the ambition of the former from succeeding him in office and he (Obasanjo), succeeded!
Obasanjo instituted official panel of investigation and found Atiku guilty of impropriety in the handling of sales of Federal Government's critical assets, of which he was chairman; in his alleged involvement in a $500,000 bribery scandal involving a US Congressman, William J. Jefferson; and in the manipulation of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund, (PTDF), accounts, in other to castigate, reduce him to odium and unfit to further hold any public office - especially, his obsessive ambition to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, denied all allegations and got redress in over seven case which he instituted against Obasanjo and the Federal Government between 2006-2007, and was cleared by the Supreme Court as suited and qualified to contest the 2007 Presidential Election as the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), candidate, but lost to late President Umaru Yar 'Ardua!
Political observers strongly expected, Alhaji Atiku to institute legal actions of libel, slander, defamation of character, etc, against his boss years after they both lost the immunity shield, but that never happened; instead, Atiku sent emissaries to placate Obasanjo and subsequently travelled to personally beg for pardon and obtain assurances to shore up his dented political clout.

ATIKU HAS FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF APPEAL TO SUPREME COURT!
But in this trending matter, Alhaji Abubakar has the fundamental right to go the whole hog in the belief that he still had a good chance of upturning the verdict of the Appellant Court at the Apex Court!
Atiku, whose penchant for litigation had become obstinate is poised to proceed to the Supreme Court, which would finally arbitrate on the judgement of the Appeal Court and lay the case to permanent rest within the constitutional 90 days window allotted to the excercise from September 11, 2011!
Incidentally, the Abuja Presidential Appeal Tribunal judgement coincided with the18th anniversary of September 9/11 catastrophic terrorists bombings of the New York Twin Trade Center Towers, and other strategic government structures which humbled America, the most powerful global nation, which had won several battles ( civil wars, world wars), in its 233 years of independence! HE WHO THAT THINKS HE STANDS SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS, LEST HE FALLS! HERE LIES THE LITMUS TEST FOR ATIKU WHO STRONGLY BELIEVES HE WOULD NEVER LOSE ANY LITIGATION AT THE SUPREME COURT!

Atiku Abubakar's determination to further launch his appeal at the Apex Court for a final and logical conclusion should not be constrained that the outcome may further strengthen not only our DEMOCRACY, but also establish the much-desired foundation for STRONG INSTITUTIONS and become a REFERENCE POINT for future LEGAL JURISPRUDENCE!

"Whatever has a beginning MUST SURELY have an end!

Pastor Fatoyinbo never raped Busola Dakolo neither did he have any relationship with her'' - COZA leadership release official statement on rape allegation

The leadership of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), have released an official statement reacting to the rape allegation against their senior pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, by Busola Dakolo, wife of singer Timi Dakolo. Busola in a tell-all interview released in June, acccused Fatoyinbo of raping her when she was a teenager attending his church in Ilorin, Fatoyinbo has since denied the allegation.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Executive Senior Assistant to the Senior Pastor of COZA, Ademola Adetuberu, today Saturday September 21st, COZA said that Fatoyinbo never raped Busola.

“We see this ugly development fuelled by envy and sheer jealousy as an unnecessary distraction and a fight from the pit of hell against the ministry that God gave Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, as well as a declaration of war against the Church of Christ to which COZA is a flourishing branch under God’s grace.

Quote:“As a result of the recent unprovoked satanic campaign of calumny orchestrated against the leadership and members of our church, Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) by agents of darkness, the church would like to break its silence and clear certain misconception and misinformation being churned out in order to misguide members of the church, public and relevant authorities that we do not support rape.
We stand with anyone who has been a victim of rape. We stand by our Founding and Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, who has been at the receiving end of organized blackmail and all sorts of attacks because of his innocence and we are sure that our faithful and unfailing God will vindicate him very soon.
“As for Busola Dakolo, justice will soon be served. We would like to, again, for the record reiterate that our Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, has never had anything personal to do with her. Busola was not raped by Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo and she had never been in a relationship with him either.
“We are not unaware that certain pastors that felt threatened by the unprecedented growth of COZA and the grace of God upon His Servant are after some of our members, just making every effort to cash in on the attack against God’s servant. There was nothing they had not done behind the scene until this rape scandal. They are accusing our Pastor of snatching their members. Some are even asking why he couldn’t remain in Ilorin. Our focus is the Kingdom of God and winning souls for Christ. COZA is home to those who have sold out to Jesus. At COZA, we believe that every sent servant of God has his or her harvest field given to him or her by God and not by poaching souls or believers of another ministry.
Those sponsoring these evils to desist however if they do not, the God of vengeance will visit them. They should let Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo continue freely with his divine mandate that our Lord Jesus Christ gave him. It is ungodly and sinful to be used by satan against the anointed.”

What Happened to This Gabonese Woman in OPM will Leave You in Tears (Video)

This is a very touching story that will leave you in tears!

On the 18th of September 2019, during the opening of the latest 13th OPM free school in Ada-George, a certain Gabonese woman showed up at the gate with her children but little did she know that God had remembered her right there at the gate where she stood. She could barely even speak English, French was all she knew but While she stood praying in her mind that God remembers her, she was beckoned on and had the opportunity to narrate her ordeal.

Tears streamed down her eyes as she with the help of an interpreter recounted on how her kids were out of school because of the inability to afford school fees, her Imo state born Nigerian husband was battling with a leg cancer that had crippled them financially, it was difficult to eat a meal a day and it was even more difficult to maintain the tiny shabby cubicle they lived in. Perhaps, in her mind she prayed that daddy allowed one or two of her children to go to the free school but little did she know that it was just the beginning.

Not only did Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere offer scholarship to all her children, he further asked the woman and her family to move into an apartment in the OPM free estate and asked that she be given the sum of 500,000 naira. The shocked woman who couldn’t contain her joy wept profusely as she rolled on the floor thanking Daddy and the God who had called him.

Gabonese Woman Gets Free House, Money for Business and Scholarship for her kids from OPM

The OPM media team immediately swung into action and set out to her house to verify her claims. It was discovered that indeed her husband had been battling with leg cancer and that they lived in a pitiable condition. One of the children even lamented about how it had been a long time they watched a TV set.

True to his word and without delay, Apostle Chibuzor made sure that the family was moved into an apartment in the OPM free Estate the next day. So, on the 19th of September 2019, Ugochukwu’s family was moved into a fully furnished apartment in the OPM free estate and of course Daddy did not forget to add a TV set so that the children are happy.

The family who couldn’t contain their joy thanked the man of God for everything that God used him to do for them. They talked about how life had been very difficult for them. The man and woman were both jobless and begged around to feed until God used apostle Chibuzor to change their story. They said that they didn’t know that there was money in the church until Apostle Chibuzor started saying it, no other pastor has been bold enough to openly confess that there was a lot of Money coming into the church, they begged every pastor to lend helping hands to their less privileged members.

Their children couldn’t believe they were going back to school, they couldn’t believe that they had a new apartment that was not a small scummy shack, they also couldn’t believe that they now had a Television set to watch as much as they want.

The laughter and smiles on the faces of the family was heart-warming, in less than 24hours the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ugochukwu moved from crying tears of sorrow to crying tears of joy.

“Sowore’s Travails Are Self Inflicted. He Created The Tragic Villain” - Reno

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan have reacted to the fresh seven-count charge slammed against detained political activist and convener of the RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore, accusing him of treason, money laundering and cyberstalking President Buhari.

Igbere TV had reported that the Department of State Service (DSS) are charging the activist over alleged treasonable felony.

He is also being charged for ‘insulting the president ’, ‘cyberstalking’ Buhari, ‘conspiracy to commit treason’, among others.

Reacting to the new development, Reno Omokri said termed Sowore's travails as self inflicted as he was the one who create Buhari who he (Reno) tagged Frankenstein Monster.

Frankenstein's Monster is a tragic villain in the novel Frankenstein by the late Mary Shelley and many film adaptations.

“I sympathise with Sowore, but I cant help but feel that his travails are self inflicted. I know his nature.

He will come out of jail, read this, and use saharareporters to savage my reputation. But even at that, he created the @MBuhari Frankenstein monster”

Why Nigeria must increase VAT – CBN gov, Emefiele

 September 21, 2019
By
 Wale Odunsi

Mr Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says the plan to increase Value Added Tax (VAT) from five per cent to 7.5 per cent is in the right direction to raise country’s revenue.
Emefiele stated this while fielding questions from journalists after the Monetary Policy Committee meeting held in Abuja.

NAN quoted him to have said that the government had responsibility to fend for every citizenry by providing basic infrastructure like roads, electricity and hospitals among others.
He explained that the government had only two ways to fund such projects, which are by raising revenue and through loan collection.
According to him, the present government has been criticised by some people for high rate of debt incurred.

“Government unfortunately has no option, if it does not borrow, it must raise revenue and you all agree with me that it has obligations to meet up with.
”The increase of VAT to 7.5 per cent is low compare to other countries, in fact, with this increase, Nigeria has the lowest in the world.
“If the government can meet its obligation through this increment, it should be supported,” he said.

He appealed to Nigerians to show understanding and support government’s policies.
