The action ends a long drama watched keenly by the public. While the EFCC made a poor show of concealing its desperation to arrest the former governor, Fayose told everyone who cared to listen that he had nothing to fear and would turn himself in yesterday.



At 12:59 p.m., he arrived on the premises of the EFCC, accompanied by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, a former minister of aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, and a legal team led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozhekome.
Clad in a pair of jeans trousers and a blue T-shirt with the bold inscription, ‘EFCC I’M HERE!’ he slung a complementary blue bag across his shoulder, supposedly containing his personal effects.

Fayose told reporters: “I am here, in line with my promise that I will be here on the 16th of October, like I said to the EFCC to await my arrival. This morning, they came to my house. They cordoned off my street, which I feel personally is unnecessary and unwarranted. When a man says he is coming, he should be given the benefit of the doubt. I have left Ekiti, so whatever they need to ask today, I will be able to respond appropriately.”

Earlier yesterday, he tweeted: “In few minutes, I will be at the EFCC Old Office, Wuse 2, Abuja. I’m a man who stands by his words and I hope that after today, those President Buhari’s men that have been accused of corruption will also be bold enough to submit themselves to the EFCC.”

While the scene played out, a group of placard-carrying women, who identified themselves as Widows of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stormed the premises, saying the former governor must not be detained.

The anti-graft agency wants Fayose to explain his role in the alleged receipt of N1.2 billion from a former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, through a former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro. The money was allegedly given to him in the buildup to the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State. Fayose’s aide, Abiodun Agbele, and others had already been arraigned by the EFCC, while Fayose’s immunity from prosecution lasted. He is also wanted over alleged contract fraud.

But while Fayose walked into a world of investigations, in Ekiti State, thousands of excited residents walked into the main bowl of the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion to witness the swearing-in of his successor, former minster of mines and steel development, Kayode Fayemi.

Clad in a white agbada and a brown cap, the new governor took the oath of office administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, promising the dawn of a new era.

“Never again will Ekiti slip into the hands of those who knew nothing about governance. Never again shall we allow our school children to pay taxes. Never again shall we abandon the burgeoning resources at Ikogosi Warm Spring to waste. Never again shall we allow our judiciary to be debased by a draconian government. And never again shall the most educated state, like Ekiti, be apostle of stomach infrastructure that has made us a laughing stock,” Fayemi declared.

He also revealed that all the finances of the Fayose administration would be reviewed in a non-vindictive appraisal. He regretted that the state was burdened with a N170 billion loan debt acquired by the last administration. This challenge, he however added, would not stop his government from delivering the dividends of democracy.

Buhari, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mustapha Boss, noted: “We are confident that Fayemi will help cover the lost grounds brought by the past administration. From today, you will begin to have a new breath in Ekiti under the present government.”

Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Abubakar Bwari, has said that private investment into mining projects is estimated at $2.32 billion in the country.

Bwari, who disclosed this during the three-day 3rd yearly Nigeria Mining Week organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Spintelligent in Abuja, also added that the investment was made possible due to government’s friendly mining climate such as gold mining and refining, lead/zinc exploration and production.

He said: “Mining in Nigeria is private sector driven with the Federal Government restricted to regulatory and facilitation roles. There is no better time to invest in the sector than now.”


In another development, the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) yesterday suspended the $400 surcharge imposed by some shipping companies on Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports.

The NSC Executive Secretary, Mr. Hassan Bello, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja, said the charge was suspended after a meeting with shipping companies that introduced it in Lagos.

“They cannot just charge arbitrarily. The shippers’ council opposed the charges, especially because of the economy. Secondly, the procedure is wrong, you can’t slam charges without telling us.”

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has debunked the rumours making the rounds that he plans to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress to another party over the recent controversial primaries held in the state.

Amosun also declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari re-election.

He debunked the rumours on Tuesday in a press statement written and signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye.

He described the news report in a section of the media as a figment of the imagination of the writer(s).

The governor wondered how he could be expected to quit a house he jointly built with other patriots.

The statement reads in part, “It is true that enormous pressure was brought to bear on Governor Amosun to move to another party, because of the glaring injustice meted out to some party members at the recent primaries.

“But the governor maintained his stand that he would not decamp, especially on account of President Muhammadu Buhari, whose judgment and sense of justice, as the leader of the party, he cherishes and values immensely.

“For those who know Amosun over the years, his struggles are usually not about his own person but equity, justice and fairness for all, especially the downtrodden.

“President Buhari represents this spirit and Amosun will stand by him and with him in any party at all times and at all costs.”

There was mild drama on Tuesday in the Senate over the management of over $3.8 billion fuel subsidy fund by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Senators were at each others throat following accusations and counter accusations of alleged compromise in their line of duty.

There was also allegation of subterranean plot to source campaign funds from the oil behemoth.

Senate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi, sparked the controversy when she raised the alarm over alleged mismanagement of huge subsidy fund.

Olujimi (Ekiti South) told her colleagues that it was dangerous to allow just two people in NNPC, the Group Managing Director (GMD) and the Executive Director in charge of Finance, as the sole controllers of huge subsidy fund.

The fund, she said, has been curiously renamed “Fuel Subsidy Under-Recovery Fund” for a purpose that has not been explained to Nigerians.

She recalled that NNPC has been severally requested to submit subsidy budget to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.

A request, the lawmaker said, has been resisted by the NNPC without reason.

She insisted that the Senate cannot sit by and allow only two people to continue to manage over $3 billion oil subsidy funds.

Olujimi who came under a point of order, reminded the upper chamber that attempts to compel NNPC leadership to do what is right by submitting a budget to the National Assembly on subsidy payment, has failed.

The amount involved, she reiterated, was “too huge for only two people to control and manage without appropriation.”

Olujimi said, “I need to bring this issue to the attention of the Senate. The NNPC is operating an illegal fund on subsidy. As a Senate, we are the true representatives of the people. We cannot sit back and allow this to continue to happen.

“I am bringing this to the attention of the Senate so that we can look at the issue. Let the various committees, especially the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), look into this issue. Let them investigate and tell us what the position on ground is.”

She prayed the Senate to mandate its committee on petroleum (downstream) to cause the NNPC to come before the senate to explain what has happened to the fund and the new terminology formulated to manage the fund.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, agreed.
Saraki asked Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan and chairman, Petroleum Committee (downstream) Senator Kabiru Marafa to inter face with those involved and report back to the Senate within four days.

He said that “the issue is too serious and the money involved too huge to be left just like that.”

Saraki said: “When we passed the budget, I said the executive needed to bring subsidy budget. In the light of the enormity of this, we will direct the Leader and chairman of Downstream to summon those in charge.

They need to get back to us in four days. I don’t want this issue to be partisan. I want us to speak on the basis of fact. I don’t want us to take up this issue and people will begin to see it as a partisan issue.”

Some Senators were however not comfortable with the inclusion of the committee on Petroleum as part of those to investigate the matter.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume suggested that since committee on Petroleum has oversight function over NNPC, it should be left out of the probe.

The Borno South Senator re-echoed what Senator Buka Abba Ibrahim murmured that the Petroleum Committee might have compromised on the issue.

Apparently for emphasis, Ndume said that his proposal that the Petroleum Committee should not be part of the investigation stemmed from the insinuation by Ibrahim that the Petroleum committee might have compromised in the course of its oversight duty.

He said, “Issues like this should be looked at seriously. When these things happen, the committee should know. I suggest that the Leader and other people who are not members of the committee should look at this. The committee may have compromised. We should set up an ad-hoc committee to look into the issue.”

Marafa felt injured by the comment that members of his committee might have been comprised by officials of the NNPC.

The Zamfara central lawmaker said that he would not be bothered if his committee was disbanded.

He said that it would not be out of place to say that those proposing the setting up of ad-hoc committee in place of a standing committee have other motives.

He did not stop there. Marafa said that those behind the proposal for ad-hoc committee were actually gunning to generate campaign funds ahead of the elections in 2019.

There was uproar on the floor. Many senators attempted to shout him down. He persisted.

Marafa said that Ndume must also asked to withdraw his statement that members of his committee have been compromised.

He said that Ndume must not only stop at withdrawing the statement but also tender an apology to them.

He said, “I feel insulted. If the Selection Committee agrees today to dissolve our committee, I will not have any problem with that. They have the right to do that. But for anyone to just accuse us that we have been compromised, I think it is an insult.

“I know that those advocating that an ad-hoc committee be set up to investigate the issue are out to generate campaign funds for their election next year. They are free to do so. I will not stop them. But no one should malign us and accuse us of compromise.”


Saraki attempted to restrain Marafa.

Marafa refused to apologize.

He insisted that Ndume must first tender unreserved apology and withdraw his statement.

Sensing total break down of law and order in the chamber, Ndume told his colleagues that Buka Ibrahim had given him the authority to apogise and withdrew his statement.

Marafa followed and withdrew his statement. He also apologised to his colleagues for what many considered a sweeping statement.

The matter did not end there as the Senate Leader protested Marafa’s statement.

He declined to serve in the yet to be constituted committee.

Lawan said that he was declining his nomination to head the probe team to protect his integrity.

Although he did not mention Marafa, Lawan said that it took him several years to build his integrity and reputation and will not want anybody to soil his name.

Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, requested Lawan to reconsider his decision.

The Senate President said that the Senate cannot afford to handle the issue haphazardly.

He said that “the country cannot be running a subsidy fund of $3.8 billion without knowing who is doing what.”

A man was rushed to the hospital after he was impaled by a sharp rod in his stomach. A Facebook user simply identified as Paul revealed that the victim was working on a site before the unfortunate incident and didn't give the exact location where it happened. 

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment with the rod in his stomach as his current condition after the removal is yet to be determined. 

Few months ago, it was reported that a man was rushed to a hospital in Kano state with a big nail in his throat after he was attacked by two hoodlums who have been arrested.

The man identified as Alhaji Auwalu, was attacked by two young men who wanted to rob him of his vehicle. He was stabbed with a big nail in his throat before absconding.

The man appeared very calm even after he was brought to the hospital for treatment.

A niece to the late farmer, Oluwafunmilayo
revealed this and shared video on twitter.

She wrote:
"My uncle is a farmer, in his early 40s and a father of 3. He was kidnapped and brutally murdered by his workers. They asked for ransom which was given to them but they still killed him. For what reason? Cos he sacked a staff for stealing his eggs and they ganged up against him."

Governor Kayode Fayemi has been sworn in as the governor of Ekiti State.

The former Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, has been inaugurated as the new Governor of Ekiti State.

His inauguration took place in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Tuesday.
Fayemi, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had emerged winner of the keenly contested governorship election in July.

The former Minister had defeated his challenger, Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to emerge governor for the second time.

Fayemi took his oath of office in the presence of party members and supporters.

1. The washed rice is put in a cooking pot with 2 cubes of royco seasoning, thyme,salt and chopped onions,covered and brought to a boil
   
   
2. Tomato is mixed with a little water and fried in hot oil with the remaining 2 cubes of royco and onions.
   
   
3. The fried tomato is then added to the boiling pot of rice with ground pepper. Check for salt, covered and allowed to cook
   
   
4. When cooking is done, the washed and chopped green amaranth is added and mixed
   

A man is lucky to be alive after miraculously escaping a tragedy which befell his house early this morning in Delta state. 

It was gathered that the early morning rain with heavy breeze, forced a coconut tree to fall into a family house in Erirhomurun, Oyenke community, Okpe local government area of Delta state.

According to Kenneth Adibor who shared the report, one elder Dick Erirhomurun, a chemist owner based in Oyenke community, escaped the tragedy as he had just gotten up moments before the tree broke through the ceiling and landed directly on his bed. 

Residents who were left shocked by the incident gathered at his lucky man's residence to celebrate with him.

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, on Monday, dissolved a two-year marriage between one Barakat Adeniyi and Abdulrazak Adeniyi over alleged acts of infidelity and irresponsibility.

The court’s President, Suleiman Apanpa, held that the court took its decision in consonance with the wish and resolution of both parties, Barakat and Abdulrazak.

Mr Apanpa held that “in the interest of peace and tranquility, the union between Bakarat and Adulrazak has ceased to be.

“Custody of the one and a half year-old child produced by the union is awarded to Barakat while Abdulrazak shall pay a monthly allowance of N5,000 for the child’s upkeep.

“In addition, Abdulrazak is directed to give adequate attention to his education and other welfare,” Apanpa said.

Earlier, Barakat, in her petition, accused her husband of alleged gross irresponsibility.

Barakat, a petty trader, told the court that her husband no longer loved her.

“My lord, Abdulrazak is such a wicked husband, who doesn’t care about what happens to me and our child.


“For two weeks, he may not even ask about the baby’s welfare,” Barakat told the court.

In his defence, Abdulrazak, an Arabic/Islamic teacher, refuted his wife’s claim of being irresponsible and accused Barakat of alleged adultery.

“Just five months after Barakat gave birth to our first child, I discovered that she stopped breast feeding the baby without notifying me.

“Within a twinkle of an eye, Barakat’s ex-lover started visiting her in my own home, especially anytime I was not around.

“Shortly, Barakat became pregnant and she shamefully abandoned my house because I had stopped making love with her by then.

“This is the reason the baby started feeding on custard and milk, which I usually provide.

“In fact, anytime I went to give Barakat money for the baby’s feeding, I usually see her secret lover in the same room with her.

“Therefore, Barakat is a pathological liar for branding me as irresponsible.

“I want to pray this honourable court to give me custody of the baby because I am capable of taking care of him in my school,” Abdulrazak said.

MANAGER: ermmm, doctor Xandra. May I ask why you want to spend your leave in London?

XANDRA: that’s where I normally spend my annual leave, sir. Besides, I have the right to choose where I spend my holiday!

XANDRA: There is nothing more than doctor patient relationship between us. I don’t know why people are assuming there is! My sister lives in London and it’s not the first time I travelling to London. I would appreciate it if I am not reminded of my professional ethics daily.

CHARLOTTE: There is this man down our street that has been disturbing me for a long time now. We are going on a date tomorrow and guess where he is taking me? To a hotel!

(They finally got to the hospital and asked to see the doctor who has the letters. The receptionist asked them to take a seat while she contacts him. After about seven minutes, the doctor came to the reception)

DOCTOR: I kept looking at you from the corridor and doubting it was You! What’s going on sir! You look a mess!

MR AMBROSE: good morning, doctor.

DOCTOR: I’m worried about you, sir. Are you eating and sleeping at all?

MR AMBROSE: sometimes…

DOCTOR: that is not good enough! You must look after yourself, sir. You really must! Aside getting really badly depressed, you may come down with anorexia if you carry on like this. You really don’t want that to happen.

MR AMBROSE: I’m doing my best. I’ll be fine. Well I hope.

JUDITH: good morning, doctor

DOCTOR: morning, Judy. Hope you are looking after yourself?

JUDITH: I’m doing my best, doctor

DOCTOR: perfect! Ermm, to the business of the day. I have to strictly stick to the rules of this very wish. We don’t and shouldn’t joke with someone’s death wish.
Mr Ambrose, your late wife instructed I read the letters to you and Chioma differently. They are two different letters anyway. So if you could please come with me. Judith, it will be your turn after him. Alright, guys?

MR AMBROSE: sure!

(Mr Ambrose followed the doctor into his office, sat down and he brought out the letter)

DOCTOR: once again, let me sympathise with you on the death of your wife. Please accept my condolences and may Chioma’s soul rest in peace.

MR AMBROSE: Amen. Thanks, doctor.

DOCTOR: here is the letter and I shall read it out for you and then hand it to you. Is that okay?

MR AMBROSE: sure.

THE LETTER
Dearly beloved husband, by the time you’ll

(The doctor gave him the letter and he went to the reception and Judith went into the doctor’s office)

DOCTOR: sit down please. Chioma left a letter for you and I am just going to read it out for you and then hand it over to you. Are you ready?

JUDITH: ???yes, doctor I am.

DOCTOR: well, you are not. You just started shedding tears! Do you want me to give you some time?

JUDITH: no doctor, I can’t ju….st he..l.p. it! She was such a lovely lady and my best friend and sister???

DOCTOR: I understand but she would like you to be strong.

JUDITH: I’m ready now, doctor. (Wipes the tears off her face)

DOCTOR: okay!

NELLY: Judy,is everything okay? Still mourning your friend?

JUDITH: I’m okay.

Nelly: sure?

JUDITH: I’m just so confused, Nelly! My friend has asked me to do something incredibly difficult!

NELLY: and what is that?

JUDITH: She’s asked me to marry her husband and this is a man who never makes common eye contact with me. Hasn’t even stepped a foot into my house. The other time, I asked him to come have coffee he blatantly refused!
He has never picked up the phone to call me and when I do, he sounds as if he cannot wait to get rid of me from the line.
Worst of it all is that I recently started talking to this absolutely amazing man!

NELLY: well, how could you tell he is absolutely amazing if you just recently started talking to him. It is called beginner’s high!

JUDITH: hahaha! You always have a name for everything. Well, so far, he’s been great and a perfect gentleman. Never been married before, no baby mama, God fearing, tall and handsome, has a decent job. Just your perfect gentleman!

NELLY: They are all perfect at the start of the relationship. Then after a while, they bring out their true colours. Anyways, if your late friend told you that, I see it as an honour. She trusts you to uphold her home in her absence. Don’t betray her trust.
You can start by constantly calling the husband and you know, encouraging him. Go over to Abuja and spend the weekend with them.

JUDITH: I’ll be going tomorrow because my friend’s funeral is on Monday. After the funeral, I’ll spend a week before I come back

NELLY: great! And you can also use what your mama gave you to get him to be loyal. You know what I mean. There is power in the vagina to break every man!?

JUDITH: how are the children?

MR AMBROSE : well, I’ve brought back Shasha and Tatiana but I left Sampson with my mum. I don’t think Kate can look after all three.

JUDITH: that’s okay. Has Tatiana gone back to school?

MR AMBROSE: that’s actually what she was telling me before you called. She said she hates her new teacher and doesn’t want to go to school anymore. I asked if she would like me to register her in another school. She said she doesn’t want to leave her friends in her school.
I don’t know how I am expected to move all her hundreds of friends to her new school. The kind of dilemmas I do not like to get into! I used to leave it all to Chioma. Now, reality just dawned on me!!

JUDITH: oh bless her! Did she say exactly why she doesn’t like Her?

MR AMBROSE: from what I reckon, she is probably being too nice to her. Maybe trying to win their love and trust and overdoing it. Tatiana is very smart, she knows when you are trying to patronise her and she doesn’t like it.
She told me that the new lady keeps asking her how is your daddy, how is your mummy, do you want me to feed you your lunch, what car does your daddy drive. I mean I understand she is trying to be nice, but you don’t need to overdo it. Kids don’t like that. Judy, honestly, I am fed up!

JUDITH: hmmm! She’ll warm up to her. Kids are usually like that with strangers. Were you able to get the jazz music person?

MR AMBROSE: yes. Everything is ready except me. I am not ready to let Chioma go. Not ready to see her in a coffin, not ready to see her lowered in the grave. I am not ready!

JUDITH: you may never be ready. Just take each day as it comes. I just wanted to ask if it’s okay to come tomorrow?

MR AMBROSE: sure! Please do. I am going to pick up my mother in law this morning and my parents will be here tomorrow’s evening.

MR AMBROSE: please let me know your arrival time so I could ask my driver to pick you up from the airport

DERIC: hahahaha! This is a very beautiful country just too cold! (Hugs her really tight and swung her around)

DERIC: She’s inside the ward. I bet she cannot wait to see you! Keeps asking of you. When did you arrive?

XANDRA: 6.am this morning. A very smooth flight too! I have missed you!

DERIC: did you?

XANDRA: not really?

DERIC: (holds her back and comes right to her face) Now, swallow your pride, throw away your certificate and accept the truth, you missed Deric. Didn’t you?

XANDRA: hahahaha! Please go away! What’s there to miss about you? The nasty and rude attitudes? I did not miss Jack! Please take me to mama. My very good friend!.

(Deric held her hand as they walked to madam Nkechi’s hospital ward)

XANDRA: Wow! Mama!!

MADAM NKECHI: my darling!!!

XANDRA: (Hugs her) oh I am so happy to see you looking restored! What a difference!!

MADAM NKECHI: my daughter! These doctors are marvellous! The only person they cannot save is someone who has been earmarked to die!
They are spirits! They can explain your symptom to you like they are right inside your body! My daughter, I am so grateful to you and I have been praying for you daily. I can fight and defeat 10 men now

DERIC: ten male mannequins, you mean?

XANDRA: hahahaha! I’m so glad to hear that! How do you like the food?

MADAM NKECHI: my dear, that is one thing I don’t like. They serve us flower here o! Different colours of flower. Chai! Nothing beats a well cooked okazi soup!

XANDRA: hahahaha!!! Flower indeed! Those are vegetables mama, and they are actually good for you.??…

(Xandra spent about an hour at the hospital chatting with Deric and his mum. Then went out with Deric for lunch. They both went to a nearby Nandos and as they ate their perperi chicken and fries, Xandra decided to have some serious conversation with him????????????)

XANDRA: how do you like it here?

DERIC: i sincerely don’t even want to go back anymore

XANDRA: That is possible..

DERIC: how?

NELLY: my sister’s husband owns a company here. I can get him to employ you and you apply for a stay. With his help, you are likely to be granted a visa.

DERIC: This sounds good!

XANDRA: what about your wife? Won’t you miss her?

DERIC: I will of course but it’s for our benefit.

XANDRA: true. Can I ask you a question?

DERIC: go ahead.

Xandra: if your friend is going out with someone who has HIV, and you know it, would you let your friend know and lose your job or would you not tell him and keep your job?

DERIC: are you actually asking this question??? Why do we place material things above human life! Damn the stupid job! I’ll tell my friend the very minute I find out! What are friend for!

XANDRA: hmmm! A colleague of mine is currently in that situation and has asked for my opinion

Late Chioma’s family has just returned from her funera, including her very saddened friend, Judith.
Mr Ambrose had locked himself up in his bedroom and has asked to be left alone.
Chioma’s mum had slept off on the sofa, because unknown to her, she was given sleeping tablets because she was crying uncontrollably even before the funeral service began.

Judith, Kate, Mr Ambrose’s parents and the kids were seated in the living room.
Red and swollen eyes beautified all their faces. Constant sniffing was the only sound that could be heard in the room.

All of a sudden, the deafening silence was broken by Tatiana’s poem. She just started reciting the poem she had earlier on recited at her mum’s funeral service.

TATIANA: fill not your heart with pain and
Sorrow
But remember me in every tomorrow

Remember the joy, the laughter,
The smiles, I’ve only gone to rest a

Although my leaving causes pain and
Grief

JUDITH: Tatiana, you shouldn’t be reciting that poem Okay? Recite one of the ones you are taught in school

TATIANA: but I like this one (carries on reciting it)

(Mr Ambrose’s mum knows about the letters left by Chioma and is determined to help ensure that her death wish is fulfilled. So she thought it was a good avenue to get Ambrose and Judith talking)

GRANDMA: Judith, we may not be able to get her to stop reciting that poem, please go upstairs and tell her dad. He is the only one who can do it

JUDITH: but ma’am, he asked not to be disturbed

GRANDMA: not when his children are involved. Please go get him.

(Judith got upstairs and met mr Ambrose on the floor of his bedroom with Chioma’s framed picture crying his heart out…)

JUDITH: excuse me, sir

MR AMBROSE: I left a clear and simple instruction!!!??

JUDITH: I know but…

MR AMBROSE: please shut the door and leave me alone!

JUDITH: Tatiana is…

MR AMBROSE: (quickly gets up!) Is she Okay?

JUDITH: yes but she wouldn’t stop reciting the funeral poem

MR AMBROSE: My goodness! Okay, I’ll come down and see her. Thanks for letting me know

JUDITH: no problem (goes downstairs)

(Mr Ambrose quickly wiped his tears and hurried downstairs)

MR AMBROSE: mummy, you must stop reciting that poem. It is specially for your mum in heaven. You only recite it when someone goes to heaven Okay?

TATIANA: but mummy went to heaven today so I can recite it today

MR AMBROSE: not anymore. You recited it for her before those men took her to heaven and that’s enough

TATIANA: Okay, daddy but when is she coming back to see us?

MR AMBROSE: phewww!

GRANDMA: enough, Ambrose! No answering anymore questions. You don’t answer everything they ask. She will not stop asking questions

MR AMBROSE: but mum, I owe her answers

TATIANA: but why did they put so much sand on top of her?

MR AMBROSE: Jesus will remove all the sands and give her clean clothes and she will be clean and happy, Okay?

TATIANA: will Jesus give her a shower and food and chocolates?

MR AMBROSE: Jesus will give her everything she needs

GRANDMA: (loudly) oh Chioma!!! Chioma why!!!!????

MADAM NKECHI: (wakes up and starts crying loudly too. Kate joined, then Mr Ambrose joined. Shasha joined, Tatiana joined, Judith lost it and the entire place was filled with sounds and songs of sorrow and mourning

NINA: Charlotte, are you sure you want to go to Ghana with this man? I’m asking because I heard he is a ritualist o! Hmmmm!

CHARLOTTE: it’s all rumours, babe. I spent the weekend in his house. Such a humble man. With all his money he still knows how to treat a woman. He ran my bath, cooked me the best noodle soup I’ve heard in my life, massaged my feet until they felt like those of a baby. No girl! I’m hooked!

NINA: what about his wife?

CHARLOTTE: she is late

NINA: perfect! I’m glad you didn’t agree yet. Call him, tell him you miss him a lot and that you have been very lonely and Ill without him around. Tell him to come back and see you one more time before he starts any move towards residing there.
As soon as he comes back, baptise him and let him go back to London!

NINA: no! Call him now! Once you go out with your man you’ll forget

CHARLOTTE: I don’t have enough airtime.

DERIC: good morning, Xandra.

XANDRA: my brother in law has agreed to assist you get a permit. He also promised to get mama a permit on the basis that you are her sole carer!

DERIC: I sincerely appreciate that and your efforts as well, but I’m going to be turning that down. I need to be home latest Friday. And that is the day by which I must be in Nigeria

XANDRA:  what happened, Deric?

DERIC: my wife is seriously ill and she has no one with her except her best friend.

XANDRA: did she stop taking her pills?

DERIC: what pills? My wife is not on any pills

XANDRA: oh no! Sorry, I was mistaking her for someone else?
What if we send her money so she could go to the hospital? Must you go??

DERIC: I must go, Xandra. See, because you haven’t been married before and I don’t mean to be rude , you probably do not understand the importance of emotional and physical support between couples. I need to go home and be with her!

MADAM NKECHI: Kate, please take the kids upstairs I want to have a word with Judy.

KATE: yes, ma’am. Tatiana, Shasha, let’s go up?‍?‍?

MADAM NKECHI: once again I want to say a very big thank you to you for how you treated my late daughter. Since her death, I’ve always had this hope that somehow, she would wake up and come back to me. But yesterday, that hope was buried together with Chioma. It has become real to me that I will never see my daughter again.

JUDITH : you will see her again on the resurrection morning.

MADAM NKECHI: so help me God. Erm, I called you Here for an important and somewhat sensitive issue. I know I probably shouldn’t be saying it. No mother should have to do this. It feels like betraying your own daughter and believe me, it is the hardest thing in the world. But fate has left me with no other option.
I’ll be leaving this evening.

JUDITH: oh really! Why so soon?

MADAM NKECHI: Yes, as soon as Ambrose comes back, he’ll take me home. I think I am finding it more difficult to mourn Chioma here the way I want.
I wouldn’t want the kids seeing me crying. I’m going to go back home and take my time to mourn my daughter.
Now to the main reason why I called you. I am aware of the letter my daughter left. Ermmm, she wants you to marry her husband.
Marriage is a thing of choice and nobody should be coarced or unduly influenced into it. But I want to tell you this, hoping it helps you make the right choice.
I am sure you know what transpired between Ambrose and Chioma before her death.
It is easy to judge Ambrose by that single act and being Chioma’s mum, people would expect me to see Ambrose as the devil’s advocate but he is not.
The situation that led to their separation which I’m sure you are aware of, came with very convincing evidence. Ninety percent of men would have reacted the same way Ambrose reacted or worse.
Before Chioma passed away, Ambrose was already searching for her and I made him go all the way to the United kingdom. Which I do not regret anyway.
Long story short, Ambrose is not a bad man. In fact, he is the best husband any woman can be married to and a doting father.
Should you decide to marry him, please do so without any fears. Of course he is not perfect, but I tell you, you would have gotten yourself a great man and future.
Please treat these kids as yours and whatever you decide to do, it shall be well with you in the morning, at noon and at night. As you were kind to the dead, In the same manner, may the Lord be gracious to you from this day onwards. Amen.

JUDITH: mama!!!?????? it’s hard. Very hard!???????

JUDITH: no, I won’t. They gave me one week off so I’ll stay more.

DERIC:like I told you, I must go home to see my wife and i have been searching for the cheapest flight possible. I didn’t realise that Arik no longer flies. The cheapest flight right now is KLM and it is for seven hundred and fifty pounds.
I have four hundred and fifty pounds. So I was wondering if you can lend me another five hundred pounds.
I promise to pay you back as soon as possible.

XANDRA: Deric, I don’t have such amount of money, sorry.

DERIC: Alexandra! Please don’t do this to me! Please I know you have the money. Remember you told me about your UK savings account.
Please don’t let me be miserable or do something silly. If I do not see Charlotte by Friday, I’ll kill myself!

NINA: erm, I have some concerns about her. Lately she has been behaving really badly, throwing away her lunch, kicking other kids and being generally a brat

MR AMBROSE: hold it right there! Never you ever use such word on my daughter! Ever! If you do, You will have me to deal with and I promise it wouldn’t be a business dealing sort of thing.
Now to your complain, if my daughter has suddenly become disruptive in class, it means there is something you? are not doing right! I want to believe you know your child psychology very well!

Togolese arrested for allegedly raping underage girls in Lagos

The police in Lagos have arrested a 31-year-old Togolese for allegedly raping underage girls in Ejigbo.

The police said they arrested Dominic Samson on October 8 after the father of one of his victims, named as Okufowobi, made a report at the Ejigbo police station accusing the suspect of raping his 15-year-old daughter.

In a statement by Chike Oti, the Lagos State police spokesperson, on Monday, the police said Samson also raped at least five other teenagers.

“The DPO in charge of Ejigbo Police Station, Olabisi, who had an extensive training in children and women rights, interrogated the victim and she confirmed that Okufowobi’s report was valid.


“The DPO, Olabisi, confirmed that the suspect did not only defile her but sodomised her by having anal sexual intercourse with her.”

The police said further investigations showed that the other five victims were aged between 13 and 15 years.

“All the victims except the sixth had been identified, interrogated and their statements recorded.”

The girls explained to the police that the suspect sometimes brings all of them in one room for an orgy and thereafter gives them N50 each.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos, Imohimi Edgal, admonishes parents to be mindful of their children as that is the only panacea to the rising cases of sexual exploitation and abuse of children,” the police statement said.

“The police also ascertain that the suspect would not go unpunished.”

Patrick Eholor: Adams Oshiomhole destroying APC to Atiku Abubakar’s advantage

Chief Patrick Eholor, the Deputy Director-General, Atikulated Agenda 2019, has said that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is on a suicide mission to destroy the party before the 2019 general elections.

Eholor, in a statement signed by Mazi ThankGod Ofoelue the group’s National Secretary, maintained that instead of helping President Muhammadu Buhari to victory in 2019, Oshiomhole would destroy the APC to the advantage of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He said: “Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a patriotic Nigerian, who deserves national honours for gradually destroying the party. He is playing a major role in ushering in the government of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2019.”

Eholor, a one-time governorship candidate in Edo State under Labour Party (LP), stated, “Oshiomhole is on a suicide mission since he became the party’s chairman.

“I want to thank my very good friend and former governor Oshiomhole for a job well done. Adams Oshiomhole is a great goal getter. Did you notice that he practically hit the ground running since he became the chairman of APC?

Aba pipeline explosion: NEMA blames incident on lack of routine maintenance

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has attributed the Oct. 12 pipeline explosion in some communities in Osissioma Local Government Area of Abia, to lack of routine pipeline maintenance.

Mr Evans Ugoh, NEMA Coordinator Imo/Abia Operations Office, apportioned the blame in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri on Monday after visiting the scene.

Ugoh who confirmed that 60 people died in the explosion also blamed the injured victims for not raising alarm when they noticed the pipeline leakage, but chose to scoop fuel from the ruptured pipeline.

He said that the rapture Nigeria National Population Corporation (NNPC)’s pipeline needed maintenance before the incident but that was not done.

NAN recalls that the explosion occurred on the NNPC pipeline in Umuimo and Umuaduru communities on Oct 12, living scores of people dead.


“My team has visited the scene of the explosion and we discovered that victims of the incident took advantage of the pipeline leakage and were scooping the oil before fire caught on them.

“I also blamed the victims who noticed the leakage but rather than raising alarm, decided to steal the fuel which eventually led to their death,” he said.

Ugoh said there should be a routine maintenance of all pipelines and also urged NNPC to beef up security in oil pipelines.

He suggested a uniform disaster management strategy by oil companies and NNPC and to come up with best practices on disaster management.

He said oil stakeholders should engage the services of professionals and to sponsor research for disaster management strategies for oil pipeline.

PDP To INEC Chair: Don’t Succumb To Pressure On Amina Zakari, Zamfara APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, not to succumb to pressure by the Presidency, to return Mrs. Amina Zakari as Director of Operations.

The PDP also charges INEC not to change its statute-backed stand on the exclusion of Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from presenting candidates in the 2019 general elections, following its failure to conduct congresses.

The PDP cautioned that Nigerians are already aware of the pressure from the Buhari Presidency to return Amina Zakari, a blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari, as Director Operation, so that they can use her to manipulate the electoral processes and rig the election for President Buhari.

While the PDP notes the redeployment of Amina Zakari to another directorate, the party nevertheless, reaffirms its position that her continuous stay in the commission constitutes a threat to free, fair and credible 2019 general elections, given her relationship with President Buhari, who is a major contender in the election.

Amina Zakari’s removal as Director of Operations has been hailed by majority of Nigerians, a fact, which shows that voters had already lost confidence in her integrity to hold such a sensitive position, for which they prefer her outright removal from the commission.

Furthermore, Nigerians are also already abreast of the provisions of the law leading to the exclusion of Zamfara state APC chapter from presenting candidates for the elections and we caution INEC against any contemplations to change the rules for the APC.

The case of Amina Zakari and that of Zamfara APC constitute another direct integrity test for Prof. Yakubu on his capacity, integrity and readiness for free, fair and credible general elections in 2019.
The PDP therefore charges Prof. Yakubu to ensure that he remains on the side of the people and take urgent steps to weed the commission of compromised officials, as Nigerians will accept nothing short of a transparent process in their quest for a replacement for the reckless, vindictive, incompetent and anti-people Buhari-led APC administration.

According to TimesLIVE, a disturbing video from the scene was shared on the Facebook profile of End Times Disciples Ministries. The video showed the pastor giving dog meat to his church members to cure them from HIV. It was also gathered that the two hours footage showed frogs being sla*ghtered.

In the footage, which was titled Sunday Live Holy Communion Service, the snake pastor is heard saying: "So this is the bones of a dog. So if you want to take one home, you can take it. It's the flesh of Jesus Christ. It's no more a dog. I prayed for this bones."

On Saturday, another post was shared, which showed the pastor serving frogs and rats to his church members. it beginning of the lengthy post reads: "It is that time again, where we partake from our Father's table without asking no question. Apostle Paul said it clearly; eat without asking no question."

Quote:The ruling All Progressives Congress has said it cannot take any action on a video of Governor Umar Ganduje in circulation which appeared to show him taking bribes from contractors, because the matter had been taken to court.

The party said Mr Ganduje had sued Daily Nigerian, the platform responsible for the two clips of the scandalous footage released between Sunday and Monday.

“The matter is in court, the governor has taken the medium to court,” party spokesperson, Lanre Issa-Onilu, told PREMIUM TIMES by telephone Monday afternoon. “We cannot comment on a matter that is already before a law court.”

Mr Issa-Onilu’s comments come a day after Daily Nigerian released the initial video to the Nigerian public on Sunday hours after a second batch was released.
The first video seemed to show the governor receiving up to $230,000 from Kano State public works contractors for the construction and allocation of stalls in a new market.

The governor has denied the allegations contained in the video, first saying it was ‘cloned’ and later threatening a lawsuit against the publisher of Daily Nigerian

Calls have mounted for Mr Ganduje, 68, to step, but he appears defiant so far. Critics argue that the governor has, at best, violated money laundering laws by handling at least $230,000 (over N82 million) in cash.


Both the police and the anti-graft EFCC separately told PREMIUM TIMES on Monday they could not immediately commence investigation into the videos.

The Kano State House of Assembly had earlier on Monday raised a seven-man committee to probe the video, Daily Nigerian reported.

President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar are expected to speak on restructuring at the “Handshake across Niger” summit ahead of 2019 general election.


Buhari is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Abubakar is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 presidential election.


Also expected to speak at the summit scheduled to take place on Monday, November 19 at the Shell Hall, MUSON centre, Lagos, are Senate President Bukola Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives; Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate; and Nnia Nwodo, president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.


According to Ngozi Odumuko, coordinator of Nzuko Umunna, organisers of the event, the summit is designed to move the national conversation on political restructuring forward as the country approaches the 2019 elections.


Odumuko said the key purpose of the summit themed 
“Nigeria beyond oil” is to extract a formal pledge of commitment to restructuring, a priority of the southern and middle belt zones, from the major parties and presidential candidates.[b/]


The coordinator said the initiative is an expansion of the January 11, 2018, “Handshake Across the Niger” summit organised to end the suspicion and unhealthy rivalry between the Igbo and Yoruba.

Two former ministers of external affairs Ike Nwachukwu, a retired major general, and Ibrahim Gambari will chair the occasion.

Other dignitaries expected at the event are Ike Ekweremadu, deputy Senate president, Ayo Adebanjo, Afenifere chieftain, and Edwin Clark, Niger Delta leader.

Saraki Named DG, Atiku’s Presidential Campaign

Senate President Bukola Saraki has been named the director-general of campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.


The appointment, which had been subject of media speculation for days, was confirmed to THISDAY this morning by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, who said zonal coordinators had also been named after long hours of meetings by the PDP hierarchy.

The coordinators according to him are, governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto, North-west), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe, North-east), Samuel Ortom (Benue, North-central), Nyesom Wike (Rivers, South-south) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi, South-east). Former Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, would coordinate the South-west.

Ologbondiyan said Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Udom, was appointed Chairman of Fund Raising Committee, while former presidential aspirant, Alhaji Taminu Turaki, would head the legal committee.


Others campaign officials, he said, would be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, the party formally set the machinery in motion for the reconciliation of all aspirants that contested its presidential ticket in Port-Harcourt penultimate weekend in an attempt to rally them behind the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Although the primary was seen to be transparent and without rancour, the party still felt it should not take chances and asked its reconciliation committee headed Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, to talk to the former aspirants and clear all possible grey areas.

The reconciliation moves started yesterday with a visit to Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Waziri Tambuwal, and former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, in Abuja. With Dickson were Delta and Taraba States governors, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Mr. Darius Ishaku.

Speaking after the meeting, Tambuwal accused President Muhammadu Buhari of maladministration, saying that the way the country was being run by proxy was unacceptable and won’t be allowed to continue after May 29, 2019.

Tambuwal assured the party and Nigerians that he was committed to the success and victory of the party at the general elections in February, 2019.

He stated, “We have had a robust and fruitful engagement on the way forward. And I have made my commitment immediately after the convention that I am going to support our candidate, Waziri Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, 100 percent for us to have victory at the general election.

“So, I am not wavering, I am not looking back. Work has started for us to ensure that the PDP family remains united and other lovers of democracy come and partner with us for us to ensure that we convincingly win this election. It is not about my personal ambition.

“It is about this country. And all of the issues we have discussed, canvassed and traversed for during our encounter with delegates and party leaders, have remained there.”

He said the misgovernance of Nigeria under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had to stop.

“We want a situation whereby the President of Nigeria will be hands on on issues of good governance, respect for the rule of law and the way this country is governed. So, I have given my commitment and I mean it, I am out for it. By the grace of God, we shall support Atiku Abubakar and PDP to win elections throughout Nigeria”, he said.

The Bayelsa State governor commended the former presidential aspirants for displaying maturity and spirit of sportsmanship after the Port Harcourt Convention, which was won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Dickson who is the Chairman of the Committee said that the party had commenced series of consultative talks with all the aspirants and leaders of the party in the bid to retake political power from the APC in 2019.


According to him, “I am leading a team of the committee of governors to interact and compare notes with our brother, His Excellency Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State. FG to sign FEED contract for transnational pipeline with Morocco

Kachikwu, in his ministerial address at the 11th edition of the international conference and exhibition organised by the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) in Abuja, explained the country’s continued dependence on oil alone to run her economy was hurting the country and it would need to quickly refocus attention on her abundant gas resources.

Though represented by his Senior Technical Adviser on Upstream and Gas, Mr. Gbite Adeniji, the minister’s disclosure came at a time the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) stated that the country’s plan to build a transnational gas pipeline with Morocco was gaining momentum with plans to sign the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the project soon.

The minister explained that Nigeria no longer enjoys priority attention from oil and gas investors, adding that southern and eastern African countries now compete especially for investment in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) with Nigeria.

“Secondly, there is a much more constrained international environment with the mounting new LNG suppliers coming on stream globally, and Nigeria is competing for investment with southern and eastern Africa.

“Prices of oil are forecast to fall after 2030, and stay low for a long period after that with a possibility of absolute fall in demand for oil and a related impact on price of gas,” the minister noted.

Kachikwu stated that there were also domestic challenges the country has to clear to develop its gas industry and overcome the energy crisis it is going through.

According to him, “Then, there is the challenging domestic environment with security of supply risks; the sector governance and business environment issues. We could add more to these headwinds based on the recent reports of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the World Bank and IMF which have made it their business to track our micro economics.

“Based on these headwinds, Nigeria has a challenging future and must therefore broaden its economy beyond oil hence the thrust of the gas policy is that we need to refocus our economy using the comparative advantage of our gas towards achieving gas-based industrialisation.”

In his remarks, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, explained that a feasibility study for the Nigeria and Morocco transnational gas line has been done, thus paving the way for the project’s FEED contract to be signed.

Baru said: “In June 2018, Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kingdom of Morocco on a regional gas pipeline that will supply gas to most of West African countries and extend it all the way to Morocco and Europe. The feasibility study has been completed and we are about to commence the optimisation of the study outcomes which would be followed closely with the FEED.”

He added that the challenges of the country’s power sector has continued to ensure that up to 500 metric million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas meant to generate about 2,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity is shut in.

In his opening remarks at the conference, the President of NGA, Mr. Dada Thomas, said Nigeria could be better served with a regional and not just a national gas development plan, with countries around the West African region tapping from gas lines and volumes from the country.

The Ekiti State Governor , Ayodele Fayose , whose tenure expired midnight on Monday , said earlier in the day that he would visit the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday (today ) with his bedclothes and pillowcase.

Fayose ’ s immunity ends along with his tenure and he has been invited to the headquarters of the EFCC where he will answer to allegations that he received about N 1 . 3 bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser through the then Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro .

Fayose said , “ I will be there on Tuesday. I am not begging for any bail. It is up to them . If they want me , they should just give me a bed. I have done by bed bedclothes, I have done my pillowcase , I have my English and Yoruba bibles . I am prepared for them . Nobody should worry about me . Only cowards die many times before their deaths . ”

Fayose spoke even as a source close to him has said that some governors and lawmakers who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party are expected to accompany him to the EFCC.

Sources close to our correspondent said Fayose , who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, would be accompanied by a team of PDP stalwarts.

The source said , “ Fayose will be going to the EFCC with governors and lawmakers . It will be the same way Senate President Bukola Saraki was accompanied by his colleagues when he went to the Code of Conduct Tribunal. We will be there to give him all the encouragement he needs.

Also speaking at a farewell dinner hosted in honour of Fayose , a former minister of aviation , Chief Femi Fani -Kayode, said he and others would escort Fayose to the EFCC.

He said when he was also in the custody of the commission in 2016 , the governor visited him and gave him encouragement.
Fani - Kayode added , “When I was in the EFCC detention for 60 days and then another 30 days , he came to see me . They were shaking that a sitting governor could come to the EFCC and they came to bring me to see him from one of the underground cells and all he was saying was , ‘ Know that God is with you , God is alive . ’

“ As you stood by us when we went through challenges , so shall we stand by you from October 16 when we go to the EFCC to go and see them . Nothing can overcome you because God is with you . ”

While delivering his farewell speech , Fayose said he would be at the EFCC by 1 pm , adding that he would be going with his pillowcase , bedclothes and other effects.

The governor said his persecution would be short -lived, adding that the PDP would return to power in the next presidential election .

He said , “ Tell them at the Villa . My name is Ayo Fayose. My name is Peter the rock . Let me say to you that by the grace of God , I will be at the EFCC by 1 pm on Tuesday. I am not a coward, never . Let it be said to them that today is their own and tomorrow is our own . I am coming . ”

The governor said once he was released by the EFCC, he would intensify his criticism of the Buhari government , adding that, “ As soon as I leave the EFCC I will talk more than what I have said before . There is no way a Buhari will match an Atiku when you put the two of them side by side, comment by comment , clarity by clarity of tongue . ”


PDP accuses Presidency of ordering EFCC to detain Fayose indefinitely.

The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the Presidency has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to detain the ex - Governor of Ekiti State , Mr Ayodele Fayose , indefinitely.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday , the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP , Mr Kola Ologbondiyan , said information at the party ’ s disposal and all over the social media indicated that the Presidency had put the commission on alert to arrest the governor at midnight and detain him.

He said the alleged directive by the Presidency was not unconnected with the plot to use the EFCC and other security agencies to incarcerate the governor owing to his persistent criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari -led All Progressives Congress government .

The statement read in part, “ This uncompromising stand of the ex - governor against the present administration was the reason Ekiti State was invaded and taken by force during the last governorship election .

“ By 12 midnight, the governor’ s residence is expected to be surrounded by armed men of the EFCC under the pretext that they had information of his plot to escape. This is to achieve their plan to humiliate the governor and portray him in a bad light to the public by dramatising his arrest.

“ Nigerians can recall that it was the governor who offered to submit himself to the EFCC despite the commission ’ s clear display of bias and partisanship as demonstrated in its various actions , especially its tweets and putting the governor on security watch - list . ”

It added , “The EFCC even unprofessionally showed its bias in deriding the governor , making light of a very serious matter by mocking him and asking him to come before his tenure elapsed, which the governor declined in line with the constitutional immunity . ”

He said it was obvious that Fayose was not planning to run away from the country.

“ It is now beyond dispute that Governor Fayose is not a scoundrel running away from justice . Whatever the EFCC, APC, and the Presidency ’ s spin -doctors may say , it is also clear to everyone that Fayose is not a coward; neither is he afraid of the EFCC, ” Ologbondiyan added .

He argued that since the EFCC said it had dusted up Fayose’ s files, it should be ready to take him to court once he appeared at the agency ’ s office on Tuesday.

Speaking to journalists , however, Fayose said he was ready for the commission .
He said , “ That is their stock in trade, I heard about the plot as well but I don’ t care what they do , the commission is not above the law. How can they say I want to run away and as such they want to come and invade my residence when I left Ado Ekiti on my own to come and see them; any way, I don’ t expect better than that from the commission.

“ I don’ t care how long they will decide to keep me but my voice will not go down , I represent the voice of the common people of Nigeria , I appreciate our party , the PDP , for their prompt reaction but this nonsense will come to an end one day.

“ I am aware of that operational order on my arrest , let them come, nobody can intimidate me , I don’ t need their soft landing, Nigeria belongs to all of us , they are not God and they should stop playing one. ”


We have no time for your games , EFCC replies Fayose

Meanwhile , the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said it has no time to play games with Fayose .

The Spokesman for the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren , said this in a message while reacting to Fayose ’ s statement .

Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party had alleged that the commission was planning to storm Fayose’ s home once his tenure expired at midnight.

However , the EFCC said , “The EFCC has no time for frivolity . Instead of this ’ mind game ’ Ayodele Fayose should conserve his energy as the commission is ready for him."


PDP should stop being ridiculous – APC

In its reaction , the All Progressives Congress on Monday dismissed as ridiculous the allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party that the President had ordered for the detention of Fayose.

National Publicity Secretary of the party , Mallam Lanre Issa -Onilu , spoke in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja .

Issa - Onilu said , “ the PDP should stop being ridiculous. There are agencies of government that have the mandate over any issue that has to do with anti - corruption.

“ They have guidelines for their operations and whatever they choose to do with anybody that runs afoul of the law . It is going to be ridiculous to start linking the name of the President to the operations of an agency of government .

“ If Fayose has any issue with any agency of government , he has the responsibility to face the agency and sort out whatever issue he has with them without linking the President to it .

“ It is Fayose’ s stock in trade to throw in the President to any issue; he feels so important and thinks the President is aware of whatever is going on around Fayose . ”

The APC spokesman asked the governor to go to the EFCC to clear his name and stop dragging the office and person of the President into it .

“ Mind you , the APC as the ruling party does not trade in impunity, which is not our style . If he has any issue , he should go and face it ,” he said .

A professor of educational planning at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Solomon Oladapo Olaniyonu, has pleaded with stakeholders in the education sector to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges.

He urged their intervention in the prevailing insecurity, economic meltdown, unemployment and general infrastructure decay in the country, maintaining that they hold the solution to the ‘wobbling and fumbling’ national economy.

He stressed that the aspiration of every country was to increase national wealth and improve the wellbeing of the citizenry.


The former Dean in the institution’s Faculty of Education added that formal training “contributes significantly to productivity when provided in the right quality and in an enabling environment that lays the bedrock of economic development.”

Delivering the 2018 yearly Independence Lecture of Satellite Baptist Church on Sunday in Lagos, he reminded Nigerians about the significance of the 58th anniversary of nationhood.

He said: “A degree is not equivalent to education nor economic development, but when learning is purposeful, creativity blossoms leading to innovation; when innovation is fully lit, the economy blossoms.”

Olaniyonu regretted that Nigeria had gained independence politically on October 1, 1960 but remained economically dependent ever since.

“Our importation is greater than the exportation which can drastically sharpen the economy to experience waterloo,” he said.

Quote:The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the accounts of the Independent National Electoral Commission with the Central Bank of Nigeria to be blocked over the commission’s alleged refusal to pay a judgment debt of N17.258bn to a creditor.

The court also ordered the Federal Ministry of Finance to, in the interim, withhold funds meant for INEC, but yet to be disbursed.

Justice John Tsoho made the order in a ruling following an ex parte application by Bedding Holdings Limited in the garnishee proceedings it instituted to enforce the judgment delivered in its favour on January 28, 2014.

The Monday’s orders are to subsist till November 8, when both the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Finance (the two respondents to the garnishee proceedings) are to appear in court to show cause why the orders blocking INEC’s access to its funds should not be made absolute.

If the court grants an order of garnishee absolute, it implies ordering both the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Finance to immediately pay the applicant directly the total judgment sum of about N17bn from INEC’s accounts.

Justice Tsoho had on May 24, 2018, made a similar order of temporary blockage of INEC’s accounts upon hearing the former ex parte application moved on behalf of the applicant by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).

But, while moving the ex parte motion for ‘garnishee nisi’ on Monday, another of Bedding Holding Limited’s lawyer, Mr James Odibah, urged the court to strike out the May 24, 2018 order, which he said was made against parties wrongly joined as respondents in the garnishee proceedings.

Odiba said, “We shall be asking this honourable court for the withdrawal of our earlier ex parte order of this court dated May 24, 2018.

“The reason for this is that in our earlier motion we brought parties.

“In line with the new policy of TSA (Treasury Single Account), those parties were not the proper parties.

“This motion is supported by a 39-para affidavit sworn to by Dr Sylvester Osadolor Odigee, the Group Executive Chairman of the applicant.

“Attached to the motion, are nine exhibits. We humbly rely on the exhibits.

“We urge your lordship to strike out our earlier ex parte motion and the order granted on May 24, 2018, which is still subsisting.

“My lord, this is to ensure that all the relevant parties are brought to court.

“We have removed all the impediments to the granting of this motion by withdrawing our earlier motion.”

Ruling, Justice Tsoho said, on the basis of the information “furnished the court” by the applicant via the ex parte motion dated and filed on September 26, 2018, “the prayers sought therein are granted.”

One of the six prayers sought by the applicant included “a garnishee order nisi attaching all money, including, but not limited to foreign accounts attached to current accounts of the 1st judgment debtor in the possession of the garnishees/respondents (CBN and Federal Ministry of Finance) bearing the name of the 1st judgment debtor (INEC).”

The Federal High Court had on January 28, 2014, gave a judgment against INEC, its Chairman, the Attorney General of the Federation and three others in a suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/816/2010, filed by BHL.

Other defendants in the suit were Haier Electrical Appliances Corporation Limited, Zinox Technologies Limited and Avante International Limited, who were contractors to INEC, engaged to supply equipment that it deployed for voters’ registration prior to the 2011 elections.

BHL had filed the suit, accusing INEC, the Chairman of INEC, and other defendants of infringing on its exclusive “Patent Rights “No: RP16642 and Copyrights Design No: RD13841 in and over Electronic Collapsible Transparent Ballot Boxes (ECTBB) and Patent Rights No: NG/P/2010/202 – Proof of Address System/Scheme (PASS) – Embedded with the Concept of the Coded Metal Plate.”

The firm claimed that the inventions, which its exclusive patent and copyright covered, were deployed by INEC and the other defendants “for the production of voters’ register for the 2011 general elections, among other elections, without its prior licence, consent and authorisation.”

In a judgment on January 28, 2014, the then Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, agreed with BHL’s claims and granted all its declaratory and monetary prayers against the defendants.

Justice Auta ordered among others, that BHL “is entitled to 50 per cent of the total contract sum of N34, 517,640,000.00, (which is N17,258,820,000.00) being the minimum reasonable royalty accruable to the plaintiff for the production, procurement, supply, acquisition, importation, purchase, receipt, sale of the Direct Data Capturing Machine, laptops and/or any other equipment ancillary to, or associated with the process and application of the said products for the registration of voters and or the collation/compilation and production of the voters’ register for the 2011 general elections.”

According to reports, a final year student Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state, is said to have gone missing for days now. The student of Mass Communication identified as Isaac and popularly known as 'Fela', reportedly went missing some days ago and has not been seen yet as no one knows his whereabouts. 

Report has it that the young man is set to graduate next week as his course mates and others can't be able to reach him.

THE NEW TESTAMENT IDENTIFIES YOU

Tuesday, October 16th .

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only… (James 1:22).

To the new creation, the Word of God is a mirror, and not a compilation of commandments to be obeyed. The Christian is a Word practitioner. This is something many are yet to understand.

For example, when you read in Ephesians 5:3-4: “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks,” it’s not a commandment. It’s not telling you what you must not do. Rather, it’s showing you who you are; the righteousness of God in Christ, with a sanctified heart, mind, and tongue.

The Word of God reflects your true nature, identity, origin, and heritage in Christ. The more you look at the Word, the more you see yourself. God’s Word is life; something to live out.
For example, when Jesus said, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34), He was addressing men and women of the senses; people who weren’t born again. But being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, the Bible says, “…the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5).


We’re not now commanded to love; we’re born of love; we’re the offspring of love; love is our nature. Thus, Romans 5:5 is a description of who you are. Once you can accept it, you become it. That’s the principle! When you read something in the New Testament that sounds like, “Don’t do this or don’t do that,” it means we’re those who don’t do such things! It’s a picture of you.

The Word, particularly the Epistles, paint the picture of the new creation. That’s how come as you’re studying and meditating on the Scriptures, suddenly, the Word of God comes alive to you! It then becomes how you see yourself every day.

That’s the miracle of growth, because as you discover who you are in the Word, you discover your beauty, and your glory increases. It’s a life of ever-increasing glory through the Word. Hallelujah.

CONFESSION

I’m the expression of the unseen Christ, the brightness of His glory. As He is, so am I in this world; and as I stay my mind on the picture of me that I see in the Word, I’m transformed; I experience ever-increasing glory. Hallelujah!

Quote:The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram, has executed Hauwa Liman, an aide worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

According to TheCable, the insurgents have also vowed to keep Dapchi schoogirl Leah Sharibu as a slave for life.

Liman's killing was done spite of a last-minute passionate appeal by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) "to the Nigerian Government and to communities and individuals with influence to work toward the release of two committed medical workers abducted in north-eastern Nigeria earlier this year".

In a short statement, ISWAP said: “We have kept our word exactly as we said, by killing another humanitarian worker, Hauwa Leman, who is working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that were abducted during a raid on a military facility in Rann, Kala Balge in March 2018.

“Saifura and Hauwa were killed because they are considered as Murtads (apostates) by the group because they were once Muslims that have abandoned their Islam, the moment they chose to work with the Red Cross, and for us, there is no difference between Red Cross and UNICEF.

“If we see them, we will kill the apostates among them, men or women, and chose to kill or keep the infidels as slaves, men or women.”

The 24-year-old nurse and student of Health Education at the University of Maiduguri was among the three aid workers abducted by the insurgents in an attack on a heavily-guarded military facility in the small town of Rann, Borno State on March 1, 2018. 

Aside Liman, the insurgents also abducted Alice Loksha Ngaddah, a nurse and mother of two, and Saifura Husseini Ahmed, a midwife. They killed four soldiers and four policemen as well.

Ngaddah’s aged mother died unexpectedly in April as a result of the trauma of her daughter’s abduction, while Saifura was killed in September.

After killing Liman, ISWAP said Ngaddah, a Christian who works with UNICEF, will be kept as a slave, just like Leah Sharibu.

“From today, Sharibu and Ngaddah are now our slaves," it said. “Based on our doctrines, it is now lawful for us to do whatever we want to do with them."

Breaking: Petrol Subsidy to Exceed $3.85bn Estimate, Says Report

A bi-monthly update report on the state of Nigeria’s economy prepared by Lagos-based economic research and analyses firm, Financial Derivatives Company (FDC), has disclosed that with the rising prices of crude oil at the international market, petrol subsidy will exceed $3.85 billion initial estimate by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

The October 2018 edition of the report was obtained yesterday by THISDAY in Abuja, and it explained that Nigeria’s low capacity to locally refine the petrol it uses to run its economy would deny her the benefits she could have got from the rising price of crude oil.

Recent petrol supplies figures sighted by THISDAY indicated that the amount of financial subsidy Nigeria currently absorbs to keep petrol pump price at the government rate of N145 per litre had gone up to about N65.6k.

The surge followed the increase in landing cost of a litre of petrol to N196.3k, which when added to the N14.3k which is charged as distribution margin in the pricing template of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), would amount to an open market price per litre of petrol of N210.6k and not the N145 the government pegged it.

In its analysis however, the FDC said: “Rising crude oil prices are set to send Nigeria’s bill for fuel subsidies rocketing, threatening to exacerbate the already precarious economic situation of Africa’s largest oil producer as it heads into election season.”

wThe further stated: “The government has to make a decision of whether to increase fuel prices domestically. That’s a very politically charged issue.”

Similarly, in his review of the situation in the report, Jubril Kareem, an energy analyst at Ecobank, explained that at the moment, no one knows exactly what the NNPC pays itself for such under-recovery.

Kareem said: “NNPC is just too big a company, and the opaqueness of the operations is actually aided by its own structure. It produces crude, buys crude, sells fuel as well as regulates itself.

“At least before, we knew what NNPC was paying in subsidy (because of monthly reports that the NNPC no longer regularly issues). Now you don’t know that. You would understand why a government would want to keep it that way.”

The report reiterated that petrol subsidies have long been the subject of abuse and corruption, adding that it equally encourages smuggling into neighbouring countries which include Cameroon and Benin, where fuel can be sold for twice the price, and even more as international oil prices rise.

A man has been heavily criticised after allegedly revealing the identity of his wife whom he recently caught committing adultery with a gym trainer.

The husband identified as Mr Eugene Desouza, was blasted for exposing his marital issue online after sharing a video where the gym instructor was assaulted, beaten and wounded for sleeping with his wife, Mrs. Desouza.

The husband posted the video of the assault online in a bid to shame the man and also posted pictures of his wife, which sparked outrage. 

This happened recently in Zambia. 

According to reports, the man noticed strange behaviour from his wife shortly after he introduced her to the gym. He then started trailing his wife’s movements before catching her red handed in bed with the gym instructor.

The dream of no fewer than 3 , 500 people to make easy cash through forex trading has become a nightmare after they were defrauded of their money estimated at N 2 bn .

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victims deposited money in a binary options company , BTD Multi - Global Company .

The company , established in 2015 , reportedly promised 20 per cent returns per month on every deposit , and was good to its promise for two years.

However , in 2017 , the company was alleged to have stopped withdrawals from accounts by depositors.

Our correspondent gathered that after widespread complaints , the company in June 2017 called for a meeting of investors at its office in Ile Ife , Osun State, and sought a six - month grace before any withdrawal.

Within the period , our correspondent was told that the company emptied all accounts and shut its office , while the founder and President of the organisation , Bowofade Adewuyi, a 24 - year -old dropout of the Obafemi Awolowo University , fled.

His 22- year - old brother, Adedotun , who was said to be the Vice President of the firm , was , however, arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

One of the victims , Pastor Olubunmi Adeleke, lamented that the money of his family members was rapped in the scheme , claiming that a woman he introduced to the firm , Alhaja Laide Aminu , had died from hypertension.

The 55- year - old Oyo State indigene said , “ My son , a student at the University of Ibadan , introduced me to the scheme in 2015 . He said the company was into forex trading . When we sent money to them , they acknowledged with email . That was before the founder, Bowofade , absconded with our money.

“My investment is close to N 12m , because I have two active accounts. We used to roll over our profits . Sometimes you can deposit N 500,000 . When the money increases to , say N 750,000 , you can leave it for another month to get 20 per cent of that sum .

“ We started having issues about one year ago when he (Bowofade ) said the company wanted to move from binary to premium options . He added that the market was low and we should give him six - month grace period . He said within that time , nobody should withdraw money. We believed him until he ran away .

“ Aside from myself , many other families have lost their money . A woman I introduced to the scheme recently passed on after she developed hypertension . In my own case , my wife , mother - in- law and two of my children lost money . ”

Another victim , who asked not to be identified, said while he lost his N 3 . 2 m gratuity to the scheme , his wife lost N 300 , 000 .

The Ilesha , Osun State retiree said one of his children , who had benefitted from the firm , introduced the scheme to him.

“ The money was my gratuity. I thought I could use the profit to go into farming and other investments. I never made a single withdrawal before the firm collapsed , ” he added .

A businessman , who identified himself only as Tobi , said he deposited N 1 m into the company in 2016 .

He said , “I stay in Ile- Ife , where the company had its office . I saw their adverts on billboards and posters and that was how I got enticed . Part of the money belonged to my mum ; it was her life saving . She was about to retire when she gave me the money and we thought we could use the returns to build our own house after living in a rented apartment for years. ”

Another victim , Chinyere Odemenam , said she invested N 1 . 5 m in the company , adding that the money belonged to her and a friend .

A palm kernel producer in Ondo State, Azeez Ogunnupebi , said he lost N 4 . 7 m to the scheme .

“ My brother who lives in the US asked me to build a house for him . I took part of his money to invest in the company with the hope that I could make some money for myself before starting the project . I also invested my money . I have yet to get anything back , ” the 25 - year -old said.

Our correspondent learnt that about 570 of the victims formed a group and contacted a lawyer, Peniela Akintujoye of Critas Law and Partner, who wrote a petition to the EFCC, Independent and Corrupt Practices and allied matters Commission and the police division of the Security and Exchange Commission.

A copy of the letter to the EFCC zonal office at Ibadan , Oyo State, dated December 17 , 2017 , stated that the company lied that it had a comprehensive insurance and was a registered financial institution.

“ The company fraudulently claimed in all its advertisement materials and terms of agreement to be an investment company that is registered with all necessary regulatory bodies .

“ The company further fraudulently claimed … to have taken out an insurance policy that will protect 100 per cent of invested capital of first time investors and 50 per cent of the investment balance (capital plus accrued interests ) of existing investors in case of any loss.

“ From around February 2015 to around May 2017 , members of the public thronged the company with hard - earned millions.

Bowofade and his fictitious company on the other hand , though having no licence to run a deposit - collecting financial institution , illegally accepted deposits from over 8 , 000 members of the public in excess of N 2 bn , contrary to Section 29 (1 ) and punishable under Section 2 ( 1 ) of the Bank and other Financial Institutions Act Cap . B 3 LFN 2004 , ” the letter read in part.

Akintujoye, who later spoke to PUNCH Metro, said the company claimed that many of the investors had closed their accounts and only 3 , 500 people were left.

“ Although the company ’ s two accounts with Access and Stanbic IBTC banks have been frozen , we discovered that there was nothing in the accounts.

“ The main suspect, Bowofade , who is only 24 years old , is at large. When the company started , the managers were kept from the public. 

Not many knew it was a young boy who was in charge , so they pumped a lot of money into it . We have those who put N 20m and even N 50m in this scheme and they have yet to collect a dime .

“ A man paid N 4 . 9 m after selling his car and land and postponing his marriage because he thought he could suffer now and enjoy later . The guys did a fantastic job of corporate branding , ” he added .

He noted that the EFCC arrested Bowofade’ s younger brother, Adedotun , in a bank in Sango Ota, Ogun State , sometime in April 2018.

Bowofade could not be reached on his telephone line.

Adedotun , who was said to be on bail, however, said the company still hoped to pay back the depositors.

He said , “The company was founded in 2014. The vision of my brother was to create a stable financial future for Nigerians. The company invested in futures and option schemes . When he does financial trading , he calculates the returns and delivers back to investors.

“ From 2015 to 2016, the company started gaining grounds with more depositors coming in. Things were running smoothly and we had terms and conditions . We advised clients that although things were good now , the scheme had its risks.

“ However , by late 2016 , there was a slight loss in the general funds . As of then, my brother still tried to recoup the funds and even got some people to assist him in trading . In April to June 2017, the company experienced a serious depletion of funds.

“ The company sent emails to clients to explain the situation. We told them that we would go on a six - month recovery period , which ought to terminate in December 2017 . However , during this period , we experienced more losses . At the end of the period , it was still difficult to pay people .

“ In December 2017 , we gave the investors two options : terminate your account or choose to re - finance. We had several meetings to explain things to them . After people had been asked to make their choices , we were advised to vacate our office at Ede, Ile- Ife , for a week .

“ On December 27, 2018, we decided to close the office while working from a remote place. The following day, some clients came to the new place , broke the windows into the building and set it on fire . 
My brother and I with 12 other workers escaped death by a whisker . That was how Bowofade decided to leave town because if anything should happen to him , the funds would be lost . His life is important . The only way for us to get the money back is for us to keep working . ”

He said he had yet to hear from his brother since the fire incident and he did not know his whereabouts.

A spokesperson for the EFCC, Ibadan zonal office , Meekness Ogeh , confirmed the incident , adding that investigation was ongoing.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the arrest of four policemen who allegedly shot dead a UK returnee, Anita Akapson, at Katampe Extension area, in Abuja, over teh weekend.

Anita who returned from the UK last year and was a staff of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), was shot dead by the police officers at a check point.

Reacting to the sad news, the spokesperson of the force, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement released this morning, said the IGP has directed the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Atiku vs Buhari: Agbakoba reveals who should win election, gives reasons


Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and foremost pro-democracy activist, Dr Olisa Agbakoba, has said that former Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar was the right man to win the 2019 presidential election.


Agbakoba told the Sun that what Nigeria needed was a good president irrespective of where he comes from.

Agbakoba who is also the leader of the National Intervention Movement, NIM, pointed out that he couldn’t have bothered if Buhari continued as President so long as he (Buhari) was doing what is right.


According to the Senior lawyer, Buhari has turned out to be a very bad President and the only alternative now was Atiku.

I would not have minded Buhari to continue if he was good. Unfortunately, he has turned out to be a very bad president.

That is the problem. He has destroyed the economy. Everything is on the floor. He has divided the country.


Everywhere and everything is scattered. So, I cannot give him my own support. I would rather support a person who I think will turn Nigeria around positively. And that requires a lot of thinking.

There are so many presidential aspirants on the field. But we need to look very carefully to pick the best. We need to be cautious so that we don’t make another mistake.”

Asked who he think fits the bill among all the presidential candidates, he added, “Atiku!
“Yes, in spite of all corruption allegations laid against him, there has not been any charge brought against him.

“Secondly, he has a broad business vision. He has a deep political experience. He has a pan-Nigerian outlook.

“He is married to an Igbo woman, married to a Yoruba woman. He is detribalized, even in the employment profile in his companies.

“He goes for the best regardless of where the person comes from. He understands Nigeria. My money is on him.

“Whether he will win, I don’t know. But I am only looking at someone who I think will draw from his experience to turn things around.

“I don’t care if he does eight years. That is the joker. Let us forget this North and South nonsense. Let’s forget it.

“Let us focus on getting a good president. Turning Nigeria around has an ideological and structural element.

“The ideological element is that we have to decide who we want it to be. The constitution is very correct when it declares Nigeria to be a secular state. Enough of this religion.

“It is killing us. Look at the Miyetti Allah thing or the herders problem as it were, if the leader of Nigeria is crystal clear about saving Nigeria, all this Hajj, Christian, Muslim pilgrimages that are state-sponsored should not be allowed.

“The second important point is restructuring. We have to understand that it can only work if the entire Nigerian nation is behind it.

“Right now, that is not what we see and a lot of people in the North do not understand it, except Atiku.

“And I know why. The language of the South is so threatening. You can’t restructure the South alone.”

Mr. Sam Olumekun, the Resident Electoral Commissioner disclosed this at a workshop on Lagos State Election Security Strategic Plan for 2019 Elections.

The workshop was organised by Nigeria Policing Programme (NPP) in collaboration with INEC in Lagos State.

Prince Adelani Asade, the Administrative Secretary of the commission delivered Olumekun’s speech at the workshop.

Lagos state has 245 Registration Areas (Wards), 8,462 polling units, and 3669 voting points across the 20 Local Governments of the state and Olumekun agreed that security is key to holding a successful election.

“6, 609, 115 eligible Nigerians registered to vote during the 2019 general elections in the state.

” I am profoundly grateful to NPP for organising this very important and timely workshop on elections security considering the role of good security structure in the conducting a peaceful and successful general elections in 2019.

” It is crucial to say that with 91 political parties and about 74 million voters geared to take informed decision and action at the general elections in 2019, the security of election officials, materials, and the electorate is of utmost importance to the commission.

“Indeed, security is key to the conduct of credible elections. INEC in Lagos is truly proud of partnering with NPP at this most auspicious time in the electoral cycle, ” Olumekun said.

The INEC commissioner commended the NPP and hoped that the workshop would give the commission the opportunity to review, reflect, brainstorm, and re-engineer its security structure and strategy.

He added that the commission’s proactiveness on security, had informed regular meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election security where matters concerning security before, during and after elections were discussed.

Olumekun said INEC would improve on the conduct of elections in 2019.

In his goodwill message, the representative of NPP, Mr Emeka Ukaotu said that INEC would need to develop its election security management plan.

According to him, some factors needed to be considered by INEC in developing the plan. These include relevant intelligence and information about locations and assessment of vulnerability.

He urged INEC to also consider previous history of electoral offences or allegations associated with the geographical area.

Ukaotu said the commission should also consider the potential for offences to be committed as a result of lack of policing, ill-prepared local authority, complacency and political culture.

Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has filed a lawsuit against the ruling APC for disqualifying him as a governorship aspirant in Oyo state on account of not presenting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme discharge certificate.

The National Working Committee had on September 27th (read here) disqualified Shittu from the Oyo state governorship primary after it was reported on a news platform that the Minister did not participate in the mandatory one year NYSC scheme when he graduated from the faculty of law from the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1978. He graduated at age 25 and failed to observe the mandatory one year service.

65-year-old Shittu, had in his defence, said upon his graduation, he contested for a seat in the state House of Assembly and won. According to him, serving in the state House of Assembly should suffice for his NYSC certificate. Read here.

In the suit filed by his counsel, A.U Mustapha, Adebayo asked the court to declare that the submission/presentation of NYSC Discharge Certificate to APC is not part of the requirements for him to participate in the primary election for Nomination of Governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State for the 2019 General Election. He asked the court to determine five issues. They are:

*”whether by the provision of Section 2(1) of the National Youth Service Corps Decree No. 24 of 1973 and/or any other provision of the Decree being the law in force as at 1978 when the Plaintiff graduated at the University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) he was under any legal obligation to have warranted the plaintiff’s participation in the National Youth Service Corps in the absence of a call-up instrument duly served on the Plaintiff by the National Youth Service Corps.

*”whether, by the combined reading of Sections 176-183 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria [as Amended] and Article 20(iii) & (iv) of the Constitution of the All Progressive Congress; it is a condition that the gubernatorial aspirant of the 1st Defendant (APC) and/or any political party for that matter in Nigeria must present the National Youth Service Corps Discharge/Exemption Certificate;

*”Whether it is ultra vires the powers of the 1st defendant to have disqualified the plaintiff from participating in its primary election for nomination of the governorship candidate of the 1st defendant in Oyo State for the 2019 General Election on the ground that the plaintiff does not possess National Youth Service Corps Discharge/Exemption Certificate;

*”Whether it does not amount to denial of fair hearing as enshrined in Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution of as amended for the 1st defendant to have purportedly disqualified the Plaintiff from contesting for governorship election in Oyo State under the platform of the 1st defendant without availing the Plaintiff an opportunity to be heard on the allegations that the plaintiff avoided the National Youth Service Scheme; and

“I know as a fact that no “call-up instrument” was served on me as at 1978 when I graduated from the said University by the National Youth Service Corps to have warranted my participation in the scheme.

“I know as a fact that I was also not served any Notice or notified in any manner to proceed to participate in the National Youth Service Corps Scheme.

“I know as a fact that participation in the National Youth Service Corps programme is not one of the requirements to be satisfied under the 1st Defendant’s constitution to enable me participate in the primary election for Nominating the party flag bearer for the office of Governor of Oyo State in the 2019 General Election. A copy of the Constitution of the 1st Defendant is hereby attached and marked as “Exhibit SHITTU 8”.

“I also know as a fact that under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (As Amended) it is not a requirement for me to have participated in National Youth Service Corps Scheme to be eligible for participation in the 1st Defendant’s primary election for Nomination of its flag bearer in Oyo State for the 2019 General election.

“I know also as a fact that the Electoral Act 2010 [as Amended] did not make participation in the National Youth Service Corps Scheme a condition precedent for contesting any elective office whatsoever.

Quote:A tenant, Yemi Daramola has allegedly bitten her landlord, Mr Paul Ajayi on the lower lips, cutting off a part during a misunderstanding over unpaid rent in Akure the Ondo State capital.

The incident which occurred at Fanibi area is now before a Magistrate Court sitting in Akure.

An eyewitness explained that the suspect(Yemi) is the wife of one Ojo Daramola who rented a room apartment and had been living in the house for more than three years, but recently had issues with the landlord over their failure to pay rent for over a year.

The source said they suddenly heard noise from the house and found the landlord’s lip cut off while his cloth was socked with his own blood and a part of the lip was still on the suspect’s mouth.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, Mr Ajayi narrated that he had met with the family a previous night to ask for the owed rent but the husband promised to see him the following day.

Ajayi who is a cobbler said “They owed me 18 months rent and I went to meet the husband when he arrived from work at around 8 o’clock at night.

The husband begged me to exercise patience that he would see me in the following morning.

I warned them to stop postponing payment because I have been asking them to pay till the rent piled up to eighteen months.

The eighteen months rent they owe me is # 28, 000 as well as electricity bill which is about #6 ,000.

On the following morning, the husband came to me, begging, which I insisted that they have to pay.

Later, I saw out my friends that visited me and as I was coming back, the wife attacked me. She hit me and tried to target my scrotum.

As I was trying to bend to save my scrotum, she bit my lips and cut it off. That was when I reported the case at Fanibi Police Station.” Ajayi narrated.

The landlord added that that was not the first time the suspect would attack neighbours whenever she had misunderstanding with them.

“Three years ago, she bit her step son and was arrested but it was later settled.

Last year, she also injured her co tenant, who was later taken to local orthopaedics for treatment.”

He explained that the case was now in a Magistrates Court in Akure and court would sit on the case this week.

A source said the magistrate had ordered that the woman be remanded pending the next hearing.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph said he had not been fully briefed on the matter.

Mr Joseph however explained that once it had been established that the case is in court, the Police must have prosecuted the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Dental Section of the State Specialists Hospital Akure has recommended a plastic surgery for Paul Ajayi and a sum of Five Hundred Thousand naira would be needed to carry out the surgery on his lip.

He has therefore been referred to the Obafemi Awolowo University teaching hospital in Ile-Ife for the surgery.

In a referrer letter signed by Dr Olasehinde and addressed to the plastic surgery team of the OAU Teaching Hospital, states ‘Ajayi, age 63, Male suffered avulsion of the lower lip“ when his co-tenant bit him on his lip .”

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has claimed that he had “authentic list” of those who have been banned from travelling abroad as a result of corruption charges preferred against them by the Buhari government.

Frank said the current list of purported 50 high profile Nigerians “to be dealt with” with the coming into effect of the Executive Order 6 (EO6), is a ruse by the presidency to deflect attention from their real motive which is to clamp down on perceived enemies of Buhari and major opposition figures ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Frank in a statement in Abuja on Monday said: “Sequel to my earlier statement, I have now uncovered the true identities of Nigerians being targeted by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for punitive measures through the EO6.



“The list below is an updated version of the one I earlier released on Sunday. Information available to me from authoritative channels in the presidency shows that the list earlier circulated by the presidency is fraudulent as it contains names of both Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

Raising a matter of urgent public importance on Monday, a member representing Warawa Constituency, Labaran Madari, said the assembly should investigate the authenticity of the video and take measures.

Mr Madari said the videos had brought the institution of governance in the state to disrepute, and therefore the need for the legislators to take urgent action.
The matter was seconded by Baffa Dan’Agundi, a member representing Kano Municipal.

Responding, the speaker, Alhassan Rurum, constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the matter and report back to the assembly.

Members of the committee include Baffa Dan’Agundi (Kano Municipal) as chairman; Labaran Madari (Warawa) member; Garba Gafasa (Ajingi), member; and Zubairu Masu, (Sumaila) member.

Others are Ayuba Labaran (Kabo) member; Abubakar Galadima (Bebeji), member; Garba Yau Gwarmai (Kunchi/Tsanyawa), member and; Mujtafa Amin, secretary.

Inside sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that the assembly is planning to serve the governor impeachment notice as soon as the committee submits its report.

“This is a serious matter that should not be swept under the carpet. We did preliminary investigation and found out the videos are genuine. The committee is just mere formality,” said a member who preferred anonymity.

“The governor confessed to some of us that it was real but he is now trying to stop us from exercising our constitutional duty.”

Mr Ganduje has appeared in a trove of video clips receiving bribe, amounting to about $5million from contractors in the state.

Multiple contractors who spoke with DAILY NIGERIAN on the condition of anonymity said the governor personally receives from 15 to 25 percent kickbacks for every project executed in the state.

The sting operation to capture the governor on camera began two years ago when one of the contractors agreed with DAILY NIGERIAN request to plant spy camera on his kaftan lapel while offering the bribe.
During about 10 months efforts to capture the bribe giving/taking scenes, the governor’s face and body were clearly captured in nine clips, while six others did not clearly reveal the governor’s face. About $5m dollars were delivered to the governor during the sting operation.

One of the contractors who preferred not to be named said the reason he collaborated with DAILY NIGERIAN was to expose corruption and bring sanity to the country. 

A housewife got more than she bargained for, this morning, as her husband left her face damaged in Iriebe, Rivers State.

According to neighbors, the husband is poor and the lady always complains about the paucity of funds in the house. .

He allegedly got tired, today, and beat her to near oblivion. The suspect has since been arrested while the wife is undergoing treatment.

Excerpts:

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar last week emerged the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). What’s your view on this?
It is a welcome development because from all indications, he has the capacity to face these monsters who are against the collective interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. From all I know about him personally, he has the capacity. We will rally round him and give him all the supports he needs because this is all about democracy. It is not a fight against APC and Buhari alone, it is a fight for democracy and with his emergence democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. Election is about winning or losing, you don’t expect to win all the time.

Is that to say that the Arewa youths are in support of Atiku?

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum is not a partisan organization. But in my capacity definitely I will work for Atiku. I will also work in my capacity to ensure that el-Rufai is also shown the way out and ensure that we have a pure democrat in that system. Specifically, I have interest in Kaduna and the Federal Government. That is my interest right now and I will use anything at my disposal, my contacts, my connections.

What are those qualities you find in Atiku that informed your choice?

The only thing I find in him is that capacity, intellectually and also he is an experienced politician. He is somebody whom I have come to discover that he believes in Nigeria without taking sides, without being nepotistic. He is also creative; somebody I believe if you give him the opportunity he would turn things around for the best interest of this country. That is my conviction about him. For Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai must go and Isah Ashiru should take over. Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.

What is your problem with el-Rufai?

He has suddenly become a dictator to the extent that he undermines the credibility and views of the Kaduna people. He thinks he is the only one who is intellectually sound. He believes he is the only one who knows everything. No one man can claim monopoly of knowledge and that is what I see is wrong with el-Rufai and that is why I don’t like him. That is what I find wrong in him. He believes in the whole of Kaduna nobody is competent except himself. That is the reason I don’t like anything about him. He was never part of those who sacrificed their lives to bring about this democracy. It pains me when this man has been given opportunity and he is behaving like a tin god because they have not paid any price. A lot of us who are supposed to be thinking that way are today left out of the game and that is the more reason I chose to participate in politics because that is worth doing and what is worth doing is worth doing well. Some of us cannot fold our arms and allow those who have not made any sacrifice, any contribution to the evolution of our democracy just because they have opportunities through godfatherism. These kind of people should not be allowed to be at the helm of affairs and oversee the affairs of this nation. This is not a good development.

If you will support Atiku as you have said what is wrong with an incumbent regarded, as someone with credibility against someone the APC alleged is corrupt?


In the case of Buhari, the incompetence is very obvious. You do not need to be told. In terms of fighting corruption, zero. In terms of tackling insecurity in the nation, it is zero. The threat to our national security today leaves much to be desired because everywhere in Nigeria today there is insecurity. If care is not taken one day we will run into anarchy. Everything about this government is not normal. Where is the capacity here? No capacity because a lot is happening and the government cannot be decisive, state what to do and stand by it. They say something today tomorrow you will hear another story. There is lack of coordination even among the security agencies. In terms of fighting corruption, if you succeed in leaving a party today, any party, if they get any information that you are corrupt and reported to the EFCC and you defect to the APC you are seen as a saint. Look at the massive corruption going on under this government. Look at those characters who succeeded in the last 16 years who have suddenly become actors in the APC. Today, they are the fate deciders. They decide the fate of over 180 million Nigerians. This is not right. This must be resisted by all Nigerians. This is a clarion call that all Nigerians must put their hands on deck and stand by democracy.

It would appear as if there is a conspiracy against Atiku by the northern elite. What do you make of that if you are talking in this manner?

Well, I do not know of those elite. But if you can mention their names I will tell you their reasons because the game is over. The game has changed. It has never happened like this. If in 2015 the assumption is that Goodluck Jonathan is from the South and a Christian and the votes went one way, this time around two of them are sons from one place and the votes will be shared. What I mean by the game is over is that people will have to decide and we have taken our position. We have decided that democracy has come to stay and we will not allow anyone to treat us like animals. It is not going to be business as usual anymore.

Are you saying the views of the elders of the North will not count this time around?

Well, I don’t know the elders you are talking about. Those who have failed our generation, who have failed themselves and also coming now to dictate to our generation? Name them and tell me which of the elders are saying Buhari must be foisted on the people. Tell me then I will give you an answer. Let me tell you the political equation in the country has changed these past few days. There is hope for Nigerians because there are alternatives now. The choice is for us and this is a moment of decision. Nigerians must take a decision now. We must save our democracy. We must save our country and democracy. We must save our history from what the international community has been fed. This embarrassment is enough.

But the analysis from some politicians does not support your view that Atiku is likely to carry the day in the 2019 presidential poll if you consider the fact that the Northwest zone where Buhari hails from always garner the highest votes and in 2015…
(Cuts in) Listen. It used to be for Buhari, but never again. The votes from the North-West will be divided. Today, people from the North-West are the direct victims of the Buhari’s administration. So, they are wise. Was it the abracadabra they did in the counting during the last election in Kano? Was it the counting they did when one person was made to represent 1,000 people? Is it the counting you are talking about where you see less than 200 people lined up and they are made to be two million? Is that what you are talking about? Okay the votes will decide. I am sure the voting will be done using PVCs this time around. The PVCs will decide. Even in the North-East, the votes will be shared. In the South-East, South-South, it will go one way. Then in the South-West…in fact, look at the drama, the abracadabra that is going on. With Afenifere’s stand recently, just watch out what will happen. You will see the game in 2019.

Your forum, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum said it would route for candidates below 60 years. Today, the two main contenders are above 70 years old. What would happen to your resolution? Has it been jettisoned?

Let me be…you know I am a realist. In the absence of desirables, if you have an alternative and that alternative becomes desirable; that is what we have now. I clamoured for a candidate that is of younger generation, but from all indications the platform for us to get it right the way it is today in Nigeria, it is either you go to APC or PDP. We have younger generation aspirants like Aminu Tambuwal and Rabiu Kwankwaso, but they were eventually knocked out at the primary election of the PDP. So, the alternative is now what is desirable. So, we must all work for the victory of democracy come 2019. Northerners must know that the time has come when we have to take our destiny into our hands. We should remember that we have been backwards and that we do not expect to do something the same way all the time and expect a different result. Going by Atiku’s antecedent, it is clear he is the alternative.

Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos West, have warned the party’s flag bearer for the 2019 governorship election, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu against overrating self, if he eventually wins.

Admonishing Sanwo-Olu during a thank you visit to the senatorial district in Lagos yesterday, the leaders, among whom were: Dr. Yomi Finnih; Chief Rabiu Oluwa, South West APC Women Leader, Mrs. Kemi Nelson; immediate past State Chairman, Otunba Henry Ajomali; Senator Ganiyu Solomon, among others, said it is important for Sanwo-Olu to place interest of the state, people and the party above personal purpose.

Finnih urged him not to deviate from the Developmental Master Plan already laid down for Lagos.

The leaders also advised him to address poverty by connecting his government to the people at the grassroots.

Nelson told Sanwo-Olu to appoint women into key positions, if he wins in 2019, saying: “women’s votes have always been crucial to whoever wins Lagos governorship elections, right from 1999.”

Sanwo-Olu promised to run an all- inclusive administration if elected. He also assured them that he would mend fences with all aggrieved members.

Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East zone to support the party’s presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his choice of Mr. Peter Obi as his running mate, to ensure victory for PDP in next year’s general elections.

The former President’s appeal followed a statement issued on Saturday by leaders of the party in the zone stating that they were not properly consulted before Obi’s nomination was made public.

In a statement addressed to party members which he personally signed, the former President counseled against insisting on obtaining a zonal endorsement for a vice presidential nomination, adding that it is the prerogative of the Presidential candidate to select the candidate he believes will help him to achieve his vision and goals for the nation.

A statement issued by Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, the former President’s spokesman quoted Dr. Jonathan thus: “I therefore want to directly appeal to my brothers and sisters from the South East zone who are members of our party to reconsider their position and allow the presidential candidate of the PDP to select a candidate he thinks he can work with to be able to achieve the party’s development goals.

Since Atiku has already nominated Mr. Peter Obi as his running mate, I am pleading with my party members from the zone to accept his choice.”

“I thank members of our great party for the successful conduct of the primaries for the various elective positions ahead of the 2019 general elections. By holding transparent, peaceful and rancor-free convention and primaries across the country, our party has once more, taken the nation’s democratic exercise a notch higher, in line with our well-established tradition of deepening the growth of democracy in our nation.

“I again congratulate all our candidates for various positions, including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was overwhelmingly elected by our delegates as the flag bearer of our party in the 2019 presidential election. The popularity and positive reviews of the exercise across the country is a clear demonstration of national endorsement for the choices we made, going into the 2019 elections.

“The task before us is to build on this firm foundation and momentum by pulling in one direction and working assiduously for the victory of these candidates at the polls.

It is against this backdrop that I appeal for calm and understanding in the South East where my attention has been drawn to the fact that some leaders of our party are openly expressing their discomfort with the reported nomination of former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate. I am told that some of our leaders in the zone have raised issues with the process of consultation that produced the Vice Presidential candidate.

“I affirm that consultation is a key ingredient in every political process. Nonetheless, in the selection of a vice presidential candidate, a presidential candidate is allowed reasonable freedom to select his running mate based on loyalty, trust, experience, temperament and capacity to perform the responsibilities of the office. Anything other than this could create tension and acrimony between the presidential candidate and his running mate, even before
the inauguration of the government.

My plea is for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to be given a free hand to choose who he wants to work with as his Vice President without putting him through undue pressure. In this regard, only minimal consultation is required which doesn’t necessarily have to involve full regional review and approval.

“We have to be careful not to give the impression that the process of selecting a Vice Presidential candidate cannot progress until a regional stamp of approval is formally procured. A Nigerian lady who almost became a rape victim, took to social media to recount how a trusted friend almost subjected her to the said act at his house in Lekki.

This is coming few days after we reported that two ladies were drugged and raped while visiting guys after they met via Facebook. One of the ladies identified as ‘Ho Lar Sugar’ was invited to a hotel and she came alongside her friend.

Well…These 5boys raped two girls. One of them was said to have invited the lady who went with her girl friend.. On getting to the said address, they met them smoking (I don’t know what they called the particular one they used) but they were forced to smoke and were drugged.
They drugged and raped the both of them, then they made a video of both moments.
There are a lot of things in that video that scares the shit out of me. I almost threw up.
That video is very scary.
I wish our parents sees these and begin to take precautions.

An 18-year-old robbery suspect who stole a motorcycle for his girlfriend’s upkeep, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command.

The suspect Sharif Audu who stole the motorcycle from one Yakubu Ndanusa, admitted to stealing a Bajaj motorcycle in order to raise money for his girlfriend’s upkeep. Sharif who is jobless, was always seen loitering around Honey Bell Hotel in Minna.
Speaking to Punch’s correspondent, he said;
“The desire to satisfy the needs of my girlfriend made me steal the motorcycle. I don’t want to say no to her and that is why I can do anything to make her happy, no matter what.
“I don’t want to share her with anybody and that is why I will go the extra mile to fulfil her needs. I don’t care what it may result to, my duty is to provide what she needs before any other thing, I love her so much,” he said without remorse.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, who confirmed that the stolen motorcycle was recovered from the suspect, added that he would be charged to court after investigation.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matthew 5:44).

From the verse above, it’s clear that there’ll always be those who might dislike you, persecute you, and despise you; but you’re only permitted to respond to them in love. The actions or attitude of such people should never provoke you to act contrary to your true nature, which is love. God is love, and anyone who loves is of God, and knows God.

The summation of God’s character is love; we’re therefore to emulate Him by walking in love. Ephesians 5:2 (AMPC) admonishes us to “…walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.” 1 John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

In our journey of faith, there’ll always be those who’ll test us; everyone who relates with you is placed there by God for your benefit; whether they’re helping you or they’re against you doesn’t make any difference. It doesn’t stop God’s plan of promoting you. If they’re kind, loving, and helpful to you, appreciate them and praise God for them; if they’re otherwise, love them nonetheless.

If someone accuses you falsely, for example, or you’re lied against, don’t get upset and try to justify your innocence to the point of acting in a manner that’s not beffitng to righteouness. Rather, keep walking in love. Love is a force—the greatest power in the universe—and it’ll always win.

Our love-walk is the primary proof that we love the Lord, and it speaks of our oneness and like-mindedness with Him. Romans 5:5 says the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit; that means you have the capacity to love as He does. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35). What a way to distinguish ourselves from the rest of the world!

PRAYER

Dear Father, you’ve given me the ability to love like you, and I’m so grateful! You’ve granted me an understanding of the extraordinary dimensions of your love; that love radiates through me profusely to others! Thank you for making me the dispenser of your goodness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Niger State police have arrested a 23-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, for sodomizing boys he lured with biscuits. The gay man who who disclosed that he took to sodomy after his girlfriend left him, was arrested at Korokpa in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State

The suspect is alleged to have been involved in the act for the past two years, using assorted soft drinks, biscuits, sweets among others, to lure his victims. However according to the gay man, since his girlfriend deserted him, other girls have been avoiding him, adding that since he had been without sex partner for years, he resorted to sodomizing boys in his area.
    “My girlfriend and I separated long ago because she was denying me sex. All attempts to get another girl failed and that was why I decided to be making love to under-aged boys in my area.
    “Honestly, I prefer and enjoy having intercourse with those little boys, since I cannot impregnate them and I enjoy doing it from time to time. I find it extremely difficult to drop the habit because it has become part of me.”
    Mohammed, however, denied having the intercourse for rituals, saying “I am not into any rituals with any of the boys. It was just for my sexual satisfaction.”
The suspect was arrested after a failed attempt to sodomise the 10-year-old son of his neighbour. The boy’s father, Yusuf Buhari, reported to the Police that the suspect lured his son into his room and sodomised him. Vanguard reported that it was gathered that the Police found out that the suspect had also sodomised five other teenagers, of the same address.
