"Church is a business. Most pastors are fake" - Former pastor exposes a number of things he experienced in the church including "jujuism"
A former pastor has exposed a number of things he experienced during his years as a pastor and why he decided to distance himself and his family from religion.

Al Akhigbe said he was "a pastor for more than 15 years". He said he had to leave because the church was "so blatant in the perpetration of evil" and it "was discomforting to him".

He said that inspite of the priviledges and money that came with being a pastor, he left because "as important as money is, it has never really defined his life."

He said that while he was in church, he noticed a lot of evil going on which the church leaders tried to justify it. He went on to refer to the 'daddy GO' as "G-hoe".

He wrote: "As I grew in pastoral ranks, I discovered, to my amazement, that God was just a facade. Everything we did, we did for the G-hoe. Any other thing, we did for greed. And my bible condemns these things."

He went on to say that the church is just a business and most people who claim they were " called" are just peple who called themselves.

He wrote:

I made up my mind a long time ago, to distance myself and my family from religion. Moreso, religious leaders like pastors. I don't care what anyone thinks. It's a choice I have made.
I don't hate anyone. But, I don't accord that ecclesiastical air to anyone. Because, most of them, if not all, are fake. I was myself a pastor for more than 15 years. So, I know. I have my ordination certificate, several awards for meritorious services, made impact both locally and internationally.
But, I saw the deceit, shenanigan, jujuism, scam, abuse, etc and was turned off. I became a lone voice in the wilderness crying against them. Probably, that was the reason they decided to eliminate me.
Agreed, no human or association or group is perfect. But, to be so blatant in the perpetration of evil was discomforting to me. I didn't care about the privileges. As important as money is, it has never really defined my life. Maybe I'm weird, I don't know.
I was in the world and knew how to do a lot of bad things. How could I be in the church as a Christian and we were perfecting the act of doing even worse evil?
When I believe something, I believe with my spirit, soul and body. My zeal for the things of God (as I thought they were), made me grow and became a church leader. As I grew in pastoral ranks, I discovered, to my amazement, that God was just a facade. Everything we did, we did for the G-hoe. Any other thing, we did for greed. And my bible condemns these things.
You needed to have known me when I was in church. This post is public and anyone that knew me can come and dispute it if I'm lying. I was always fighting what was against the people. Sometimes, during meetings, I'll argue with the head pastor, using scriptures. And I will be told that revelation was progressive and that God talked directly to the man with the vision. Meaning: the bible doesn't have the present information about the present direction of the church.
I'll have some of my colleagues sent to try and counsel me. My question was always, how can we say we're children of God and be engaging in acts that were worse than those of the unbelievers? They'll tell me that there are different levels of grace.
If I tell people I stopped pastoring, they'll be like, "how is that possible? Were you not called before?"
Called? People actually believe that nonsense ''call'' thing? Smh.
Get it into your head now, church is a business. Just as people thought and decided to choose fashion as their line of business, so also people decided to go into church as their line of business. It's the most lucrative business in Nigeria after politics.
They'll start it and tell you God called them. It's a LIE. They called themselves or their pastors that called themselves, selected them to help spread their tentacles.
That's why I laugh when people say, a church has a board. Which kind of board is a board that is selected by the pastor and CEO to act on his behalf and as a semblance of public organisation? Do you people reason at all?
Someone wakes up one day and tells you, God called him. You believed. Busola wakes up one day and decided to narrate the story of how a pastor raped her, you refused to believe. You're asking for the evidence. Which evidence did your pastor give you that made you believe God called him?
The big bible that he carries?
Anybody can buy a big bible.
Quite frankly, it's a feat to be able to pull out of a church congregation. It's even a greater feat to resign from a pastoral profession.
It's not easy isolating from people that have become family and friends. But, I had to do it for my conscience sake.
I couldn't stand the systematic impoverishment of people anymore.
I couldn't bear to see the perpetuation of falsehood.
I couldn't bear to see women abused.
I couldn't bear to see dirty politics...dirtier than that of APC and PDP put together.
I resigned and pulled out. And since then, about 5 years ago, I've never been more at peace with myself. I hope to take out time to write a book on this very soon. It will be a biography. Names of people, places and events will be mentioned.
I had wanted Pastor Anita to write it herself. Let the world hear her own side of the story. But, I guess they succeeded in gagging her with legal technicalities and she might not be able to.
Well, she is not me. There ain't no stopping me if I set my mind to do something. I don't mind stepping on and hurting toes.

Actor Akah Nnani announces his departure from COZA, calls Biodun Fatoyinbo a rapist
[Image: 5d192486bb8d7.PNG]

Actor Akah Nnani says he has seized to be a member of COZA.

In a statement he released this evening, Akah called the founder of the church, Biodun Fatoyinbo, a rapist. Read his statement below

After watching @busoladakolo account, I believed her 100%. But I was advocating for proper procedures of getting justice on this matter because of reasons best known to me. Again, I was still in shock too. I admit, I still am in shock. I'm also not a fan of jungle justice or court of pubIic opinion because I suffered it in secondary school wrongfully.
But after the behaviour of the church organisation today on this matter, not just the pastor, there is no need.
It is shameful for me to call myself a member of that church. A friend said to me "his moves are like that of Pablo Escobar". I couldn't help but agree. It has taken me time, but I am finally here.

We will say it for what it is. Pastor @biodunfatoyinbo is a rapist. There is a syndicate around him that protects him, and this involves Pastor Flo of Lagos Church, Pastor Wole of PH parish, church staff, other ministers and I dare say, his wife.

I am no longer a member of that church. I call on every one who has a conscience to boycott @cozaglobal.

Thank you to every Nigerian fighting. Thank you to every celebrity using their voice. You understand that your influence is not for you. Thank you. I dream strength from your voice.

We continue to pray for him that God will touch his heart to own up to his crimes and the light of God to expose everyone involved in the syndicate.
I stand with Busola Dakolo, I stand with every woman who has been raped. I stand against rape and rape culture. I stand against the rot in the church. @timidakolo I am 100% with you. #istandwithbusoladakolo
I rest my case on this matter now.

Let the place scatter!!

Twitter reacts as Bisi Alimi blasts influencer Pamilerin and threatens to "drag his ass out of the closet"
Bisi Alimi has dragged social media influencer Pamilerin Adegoke while also insinuating he is ''still hiding in the closet.''

Pamilerin, who made news headlines weeks ago when he was assaulted by Perruzi, appeared to have taken sides with Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA amidst the rape allegations. This led people to conclude he had been paid to defend the pastor. But Pamilerin denied this.

Pamilerin took things further by dragging Bisi Alimi, who has been speaking out against the COZA pastor. And Bisi hit back on Facebook.

Bisi wrote: "Someone needs to tell Pamilerin that I am not one he can come for, cos I will drag his ass out of the closet! Simples!"

Bandits surrender 216 rifles in Zamfara State
[Image: 5d192a9e17364.JPG]
216 rifles mostly AK-47 have been recovered by the Zamfara Government from bandits terrorizing residents.

In a statement by Yusuf Idris, Director-General, Press Affairs to Gov. Bello Matawalle on Sunday said the governor made the revelation when he received former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon at the Government House, Gusau on Saturday.

The statement said that most of the weapons were voluntarily returned to the government by repentant bandits who surrendered to embrace peace while denouncing their bad ways. The governor described the elder statesman’s visit to the state as timely and sought for advice from the retired general on the best ways to end banditry in the state.

“Matawalle maintained that Nigeria now needs more of his personality with the current situation of banditry, kidnapping and other heinous crimes in order to advise current leaders in handling the terrible situation.
He further said that tapping from the wealth of Gowon’s experience as a former Army General and Head of State who fought for the corporate existence of the country will assist his administration positively on security intelligence and intervention.
“On his government efforts to end the menace of armed banditry, the Governor informed the leader that his administration has adopted various methods that include reconciliation which have started to yield positive results as over 216 AK47 rifles have been surrendered to the authorities by surrendering bandits,” the statement said.

Taylor Swift expresses outrage after learning that her master recordings have been sold to talent manager Scooter Braun
[Image: 5d19ba456b123.PNG]
Taylor Swift was annoyed after learning that her master recordings have now been sold to talent manager, Scooter Braun, thereby granting him ownership of her music catalog.

It was announced Sunday that Big Machine Label Group, Taylor’s former label, and the owner of the master recordings from her 2006 debut album, to her 2017 album was sold to Scooter’s Ithaca Holdings in a $300 million deal.

This angered Taylor Swift, who felt she had been ripped off and she took to social media to call Scooter.

She went on to attach the post to aTumblr post, writing: "For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead, I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract; Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums."

She continued to talk about the bullying she received from him over the years.

She wrote: "Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. (See photo) Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video, which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it."

Taylor said that when she left her masters in the hands of Scott Borchetta, the former owner of the label, she knew that he would one day sell them. However, she never thought it would be sold to Scooter.

COZA SAGA: Why Women Don't Speak After Being Raped

Educating Reno Omokri On Rape And The Nebulous Reaction Of Female Victims.
Kadaria Ahmed Facebook post

I know Christ said not to swear, but everything I type on this post is the gospel truth and may it not be well with me if I tell a lie.

To begin, if any brother here has "struggled" with a girl saying "no no no" but she lets him kiss and even suck breast, but will not let him go all the way, raise your hand. If when you get to her pant, she uses style to raise her waist so you can remove it, raise your hand. That is how we got to sleep with most girls while growing up. I am not talking of that one.

Also, if any brother here has had a girl as his friend and she even lies on his bed and they are close and his friends have told him "guy, you dey slack. Rush the babe" And the brother, thinking the babe is tripping for him and he tries and she says no but joystick has raised and he keeps trying and she keeps fighting until he gives up knowing this NO is really really NO. And if you as the brother have then turned to beg the girl. Raise your hand. I am not even talking about that.

If you succeeded to "sleep" with the girl and she started crying and you started begging her in what we call RnB aka RAPE AND BEG, raise your hand.

Truth is, if you were in any way a spoilt boy, good reputable parents or not, we have all in some way been involved in some form of rape or attempt thereof. Nigerian girls, maybe because of culture of encouraging females to be demure, growing up, girls try to act like they do not want to have sex with a guy even when they do. Like Destiny's Child "NO NO NO, when it is really YES YES YES" has led many "good" guys into near rape with girls who were hitherto close to them. I am not talking about this either.

I am talking about RAPE when you really know the girl is saying NO.

God forgive me but I have had people I call friends RAPE a girl IN MY ROOM and TWICE. God forgive me.

The first was in Uniben. My room is always crowded and with females and males. A friend I made in the later stages of Uniben raped a girl that came to Uniben to look for admission and trusted me enough to stay in my house. she slept in my room with my pseudo roommates for three days. At around 9:30 Late Samson Ohiomokhai and I had gone to Hall one leaving this girl behind and this my friend who stays in town and sleeps in my room now and then came, saw her and raped her. I came home and we all slept. The next morning I saw her countenance and asked her what was wrong and she told me... after much prodding that my friend raped her. I saw this girl grow up. But for the fact she knew me and the tears in my eyes, this girl would have thought I planned it. I took 2k and made my friend bring some money and I gave her to go and treat herself. She never brought up this rape issue again. We both pretend it never happened. IT DID. Now, none of the girl's sisters that I am also close to ever asked me about the incidence. When I saw them, I expected to be confronted. Everything was normal between us. SHE NEVER TOLD HER OWN SISTERS.

Again in Ketu Longjohns Chino and his twin brother, will bear me witness. I had a crowd of girls, actresses, singers, models and dancers come and stay with me. Those in entertainment will understand the crowded living. A now radio presenter that was squatting every now and then, that night we went to the club and came back late. Girls and boys were all over the flat. The next morning, again I saw this girl angry. I cannot even remember her face or name. She told me "this your friend is the devil. He raped me" Now we were all in the flat and sleeping and a guy successfully raped a girl, a girl wise in worldly ways. She did not tell everyone. I asked her and she told me, looking daggers at this my friend. This time, I knew my friend got paid as an upcoming comedian. I took the money from his wallet and again, sadly, gave this girl to go and "treat yourself". She did not tell anyone nor scream. I told the Longjohns and I asked this friend to leave the house and till date he is my friend on Facebook but I do not speak to him. But more importantly, THE GIRL DID NOT EVEN TELL OTHER GIRLS IN THE FLAT.

Again, if I lie, let me not see tomorrow. I just had a call where this lady was telling me how she was almost raped as a 14 years old. She is very Sapele, though living in the US now. She is from a rugged area in my town. She tells how she went to see a friend and the compound bros, a very popular guy living in London now and very respected told her to sit in his house while he gets her. That he locked the door and tried to rape her. That she, being raised tough, and perhaps this guy not being a friend or avuncular or being someone she respected, she fought him and that she escaped and went home without her shoes. Again, NOTE THIS. She never told the girl she went to meet, never told her family. Only person she has ever told is her ex boyfriend. She never told her husband. I am the second person she is telling in this life. This is decades later.

Many times, WOMEN DO NOT TELL WHEN RAPED. The society is not kind to victims of rape. Azanuwa Tobore may remember one night a girl was raped in beside their house in Otomewo road. The girl was a young girl no more than 17. She was comjng from church. I was called to come and the minute I saw her and a crowd about to gather, I quickly told the girl "As you no know who rape you and as you say you never see am before, why you no go house before people know say them rape you?" And the women around said "na true. My pikin go quick make people no go start to talk". I think I remember seeing the quiet Tobore that night. His father was a top police man, OTOMEWO of Ughelli. We never went to tell the father upstairs. We were more interested in saving the girl and her reputation.

Saving her and her reputation...

And she is the victim of a crime

Yet we worried about her reputation and how people would look at her.

"no be that girl wey them rape? wetin she dey waka alone for? You no sure say she want the Bleep? How you take sure say na rape? Look wetin she wear. That girl go grow to be ashawo. No be by church" I could almost hear them say. So I ensured the girl left and none remembered her as a rape victim

I wonder where she is now and how that jncidence has shaped her life. She most likely will know me. Principal pikin. Ena Ofugara. But I cannot remember her anymore.

Many women... MOST WOMEN do not speak up after rape. Many do not scream. The reactions are varied. Some fight. Some are like deer in front of a car's headlight. IMMOBILIZED. They just obey the rapist like robots. And if as a man you doubt this, you have not been attacked in university by cult boys or by armed robbers. I have seen big men who carry weight oppressed by small brilliant boys with "back up". Aghomi Gabriel, tell them of that huge guy wey one guy lock for room as he think say he be hulk hogan and how the guy loyal once he know say wetin pass am want meet am. He call police? He report? He no loyal[Image: huh.png]? DEER IN THE FACE OF HEADLIGHTS. Immobilized. Obedient. "Kneel down. Slap yourself. lick sand" for boys. And for girls, "open your leg. Close your mouth. If you talk I go... no one will believe you sef."

Sometimes it is the threat. Sometimes it is the brain going off. Sometimes IT IS SHOCK. Some people's brain go off in times of trauma.

Many times they say NOTHING after it.

Men hide violence towards them... a slap. Their babe slapped in their presence. Their babe raped in their presence. For the girls. They often go quietly.

Their COPING STRATEGY IS DENIAL.

They banish the whole experience to their subconscience. They continue to be friends with the RAPIST or CULT BOY THAT SLAPPED THEM. Sometimes the women begin to DATE their rapist just to tell themselves they were not RAPED and that it was consensual. Rape has stigma. Sex with a boyfriend does not. So they date the rapist. For boys, they join the very confraternity that their oppressors belong to and become best friends with the guy who, while they were "Jews", "rats" "lubber" (not yet members of a cult) beat them up and took their money and made them buy beers for them. THEY ARE FRIENDS TO THEIR OPPRESSORS FROM BACK THEN. For Some women, many married to their husbands, the first time was forced sex or "rape" even if they liked him but that was not the day they wanted to "GIVE HIM". They were raped and just CONTINUED.

If you are a guy and you "fought love fight" with a babe who allows you kiss but will not let you "enter", if finally you "enter" and you say PRAISE THE LORD as you feel the wetness, not knowing you will succeed, raise your hand.

If you are a girl and you really did not want to sleep with a guy just yet or even at all. But the minute his joystick enters you you have said "well, wetin remain. He already has entered me. What is left? Let me just date him." Raise your hand.

DENIAL. Coping mechanism. You deny to yourself telling yourself you were not raped, either by acting like the event never happened and continuing to be your pastor and or uncle or cousin or course rep or lecturer or priest friend even though they raped you. YOU ACT NORMAL. The brain has rewired itself. Amnesia. SELECTIVE AMNESIA. You forget sad events. You continue in the church. You even let him dedicate your child. COPING! Selective amnesia.

About half of women, especially girls who armed robbers have entered their houses to steal were also RAPED. They talk about their phones but never the RAPE. They are not just hiding it from society, THEY ARE HIDING IT FROM THEMSELVES.

DENIAL! Amnesia. Protective amnesia. COPING. DEFENSE MECHANISM

But the subconscious has a way of being like a molten magga. It is VOLCANIC. It bubbles below the surface. It affects the individual in all their choices. For men, many become wife-beaters, trying to never be seen as weak again. Some begin to stockpile guns as many in the US do. For women, they cannot trust their husbands or any man. One woman said she would never allow her husband bathe her daughter. We jumped on her. But we do not know her history or experience, whether personal or of a sibling or close friend. Was she raped by her father or uncle or brother and projecting this on her husband? When Timi Dakolo makes to teach aspiring young girls how to sing, does his wife have flashes from her subconscious and imagine or in fact like psychosis actually SEE Timi raping these innocent wide-eyed trusting would-be singers and he givjng them KREST as a certain pastor did her? Is her distrust for Timi from that?

Such is the nature of rape and violence. For some they fight and speak up and report... the tough few. Those ones heal quickly. For the vast majority, even in America and UK where the police will jail the rapist, MANY STAY SILENT FOR YEARS. Few come out and speak up, so they can save other girls from these predators or so they can have CLOSURE. Now imagine a Nigeria where a raped woman will never get justice from the police who will grant bail to the rapist for 20k?

But not everyone can stay wuiet forever, not with the global and influencing ME TOO MOVEMENT.
Like Volcanoes, many women's subconsciius are erupting.

The Volcano erupts and will burn all in its path.

But the magma, after burning and after it cools down makes fertile soil years later for growth of crops and a city. For growth and HEALING of the body that hid such pain and or betrayal of trust an or just plain recipient of evil, sometimes the volcano erupts.

And the truth is told, believed or not. Belated or not.

Those who say "why did you not speak up since" are neophytes in the psychology of rape. Let each look in the eyes of ten women they trust and who trusts them and ask "can a girl or woman hide the fact she was raped for years" and let them open their minds and LISTEN. Chances are they will receive an education.

Let them ask just how common rape is. Then ask about rape in families.... fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, relatives, family friends. Let them ask how many spoke up and how many did not u til years and years later.

They will receive an education.

Read the unique way Nigerian Army marks Day in Rivers
[Image: Nigerian-Army-e1561882559196.jpg?resize=700%2C394&ssl=1]
It was an exiting scene on Saturday in some designated places in Obio/Akpor area of Rivers as the Nigerian personnel trooped out to clean market, car park and the surroundings.

The exercise was embarked upon as part of activities to mark the 2019 Nigerian Army Day celebration (NADCEL).

Soldiers, who turned out in large numbers cleaned the busy Rumuokoro market, car park road and surrounding environment.

The Commander of 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Brig.-Gen. Adeola Kalejaiye, said that the army considered environment very important and was conscious of it.

“The army is very conscious of the environment, hence the need to clean up the market as part of our NADCEL.

“So, today, we are carrying out environment sanitation as part of our civil-military relationship. We are ready to cooperate with everyone.

“The army takes cleanliness of the environment very seriously,” he said.

Kalejaiye said that soldiers were part of the society, and as such, need the cooperation of the people to effectively carry out their assigned duties.

Mr Solomon Eke, Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, commended the army for coming out from the barracks to clean up the market.

Eke, who witnessed the sanitation exercise, said the army had through the clean up shown that it truly cared for the environment.

“However, it is surprising that even market traders did not come out to clean their own market; but rather it is the Nigerian army that is doing it for them.

“The army is providing security as well as contributing to the environment. So, the entire people of the local government are happy with what they are doing here,” he said.

Lawan, Gbajabiamila, Omo-Agege, Others To Receive N32.83bn Welcome Package
 [Image: 9735885_lawangbajabiamila1_jpeg938425dd2...2a505f09c8]
President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan; his deputy, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila; Deputy Speaker, Mr Ahmed Idris, and 465 other lawmakers are set to receive at least N32.83bn as welcome package, investigation has shown.

It was learnt that the lawmakers start receiving the money from Monday.

A member of the federal legislature management confirmed the development to one of our correspondents on the condition of anonymity on Saturday.

He had also yet to reply the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

The welcome package comprises annual accommodation allowance, furniture allowance, and motor vehicle loan. It will also include the salaries and allowances of the lawmakers for the first month and the running or overhead cost for the first three months.

There was indication that the running cost might have been enhanced as each member of the House of Representatives might receive as much as N70m.

Although it could not be ascertained what a senator would receive, traditionally, senators are paid higher than the House of Representatives members. If a Rep receives N70m, a senator may receive up to N10m.

However, N32.83m is the summation of N70m into 469 places which is the total number of lawmakers at the federal level.

A source at the National Assembly confirmed to one of our correspondents that each Rep would receive N70m while another source confirmed that a senator would receive at least N70m.

The summation of the annual accommodation allowance, furniture allowance, and motor vehicle loan for either a senator or Rep is lower than N70m, thus indicating that the unofficial emoluments of the lawmakers may have been enhanced.

A senator collects N40.5m (for three months) for overhead as revealed by Senator Shehu Sani in the 8th National Assembly. The monthly salary and regular allowances of a senator is N1, 063,860.

As prescribed by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, a senator is entitled to N4,052,800 for accommodation (once a year) and a furniture allowance of N6,079,200 (once in four years). Should a senator desire, they are entitled to N8, 105,600 as motor vehicle loan. These sum up to N59, 801,460.

A member of the House of Representatives, on the other hand, receives N30m a quarter for overhead or running cost. They are also entitled to a monthly salary and a regular allowance of N794, 086.83.

The accommodation allowance of a Rep is N3, 970,425 per annum while the furniture allowance is N5, 955,637 (for four years). Should a Rep desire, they can get a motor vehicle loan of N7, 940,850.50. These sum up to N48, 660,999.83.

Confirming the allowances and the scheduled payment, members of the parliament told one of our correspondents on the condition of anonymity that the payment was supposed to have been paid earlier than now.

The source added, “We have not collected anything. Up till now, I have not got one naira. I’m broke now and I’m looking for money.”

A senator also said they had not been paid.

“The car loan is about N7m. It’s different from the official car that will come later. The loan is just like an advance payment of our annual transport allowance.”

SERAP Urges Orji Kalu, Goje, Okorocha, Others To ‘stop Collecting Pensions’
[Image: 9736214_inshot20190630091642574_jpeg9a88...c7a16ce51e]
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged all former governors now in the ninth Senate to “publicly commit to stop collecting pensions from their states while they serve as senators, return ‘pensions’ already collected to the public treasury, and push for the abolition of double emoluments laws for former governors and deputies in their states.”

Several of the 36 states have enacted pension-for-life laws for former governors and deputies. Among former governors in the ninth Senate that will enjoy such pensions are two ex-governors Abia State, Orji Kalu, and his successor, Theodore Orji; former governor Ebonyi State Sam Egwu; former governor Imo State Rochas Okorocha; former governor Ogun State Ibikunle Amosu; and former governor Gombe State, Danjuma Goje.

SERAP in a statement today by its deputy director Kolawole Oluwadare said: “As members of the ninth Senate resume Tuesday, there is a lot at stake. The leadership and members must now take meaningful steps to improve citizens’ trust and confidence in the Senate’s authority and ability to positively impact on their lives, by embracing the values of transparency, accountability, responsibility, solidarity and respect for human rights.”

SERAP said: “Nigeria deserves a Senate that is fully committed to transparency, accountability, the rule of law, proper management of public resources, and human rights. It’s time for the leadership and members of the Senate to show the commitment and courage to end double pay for former governors among them.”

The statement read in part: “Given the large number of former governors in the ninth Senate that would be receiving pensions, the Senate leadership and members should be the loudest voice urging action against pension for life laws across many states. Senators are already receiving several allowances, including ‘severance allowance’, ‘welcome package’, and at least N15 million monthly allowance as senators.”

“Double pay and self-enrichment for ex-governors now senators have continued to contribute to ‘resource curse and the paradox of plenty’, with corrosive effect on governance and ultimately, respect for human rights, including the rights to quality education, adequate healthcare, clean water and regular electricity supply.”

“Double pay for former governors and now senators will continue to have a negative impact on the ability of the Senate to exercise constitutional oversight over the use of public funds and limit avenues for public accountability.”

“Payment of pensions to former governors in the Senate will continue to have an extremely negative effect on Nigeria’s development and the well-being of the population, particularly in the states with life pension laws. Life pension laws have depleted the public resources that would have been spent on the basic needs of Nigerians.”

“The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan should also use his political position and influence to sponsor a resolution and prevail on Senators to stop double pay for public office holders. Double pay for ex-governors amounts to misuse of public funds, as it diverts resources away from support for essential public services, invariably allowing politicians to maintain control over the political and economic resources of their states.”

“By providing the leadership on the matter, Senator Lawan will be sending a powerful message to his colleagues that public function is meant to be exercised in the public interest. Such public commitment and action to abolish double emoluments laws would also be entirely consistent with article 19 of the UN Convention against Corruption to which Nigeria is a state party.”

“The failures to allocate adequate financial resources to health, education, water in part because of payment of life pensions to former governors directly contravene Nigeria’s obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).”

“Under the Certain Political Office Holders and Judicial Officers Remuneration Act, former governors who are lawmakers are already entitled to 300% of their basic salary as severance pay at the end of their terms as senators.”

“Other ex-governors in the ninth Senate include: former governor Enugu State Chimaroke Nnamani; former governor Kebbi state Adamu Aliero, and former governor Nasarawa state Abdullahi Adamu.”

“In Akwa Ibom, state law provides for N200m annual pay to ex governors, deputies; pension for life; a new official car and utility-vehicle every four years; one personal aide and provision of adequate security; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5m per month and N2.5m for the deputy governor; free medical services for governor and spouse totaling N100m for the governor per annum, a five-bedroom mansion in Abuja and Akwa Ibom; and allowance of 300 percent of annual basic salary for the deputy governor; 300 percent of annual basic salary every four years and severance gratuity.”

“In Gombe State, there is N300 million executive pension benefits for the ex-governors. In Kwara State, the 2010 law gives a former governor two cars and a security car replaceable every three years; a well-furnished 5-bedroom duplex; 300 per cent of his salary as furniture allowance; five personal staff; three State Security Services; free medical care for the governor and the deputy; 30 percent of salary for car maintenance; 20 per cent for utility; 10 percent for entertainment; 10 per cent for house maintenance.”

“Benefits accruable to former governors of Edo State under the Pension Rights of the Governor and Deputy Governor Law 2007 amount to 100 per cent of the salary of the incumbent governor for life, an officer not above Salary grade level 12 as Special Assistant, a personal secretary not below grade level 10 who shall be selected by the former governor from the public service of Edo State.”

“In Osun State, the law guiding the payment of pensions to former governors and their deputies is cited as the Pension (Governor and Deputy Governor) Law 2001. The law stipulates that former governors and former deputy governors shall be entitled to pension at the rate equivalent to the incumbent office holder.”

“In Zamfara state, pension law allows former governors to receive pension for life; two personal staff; two vehicles replaceable every four years; two drivers, free medical for the former governors and deputies and their immediate families in Nigeria or abroad; a 4-bedroom house in Zamfara and an office; free telephone and 30 days paid vacation outside Nigeria.”

“Under the Lagos Pension Law a former governor will enjoy the following benefits for life: Two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja estimated to cost between N500m and N700m. Others are six brand new cars every three years; furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary every two years, and a close to N2.5m as pension (about N30m pension annually).”

“In Rivers, state law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for former governor anywhere of his choice in Nigeria; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years; two cars for the deputy every four years; 300 percent of annual basic salary every four years for furniture; 10 percent of annual basic salary for house maintenance.”

“Similarly, the Kano State Pension Rights of Governor and Deputy Governor Law 2007 provides for 100 percent of annual basic salaries for former governor and deputy; furnished and equipped office; a 6-bedroom house; well-furnished 4-bedroom for deputy, plus an office; free medical treatment along with immediate families within and outside Nigeria where necessary; two drivers; and a provision for a 30- day vacation within and outside Nigeria.”

“In Sokoto State, former governors and deputy governors are to receive N200m and N180m respectively being monetization for other entitlements which include domestic aides, residence and vehicles that could be renewed after every four years.”

Troops deploy as Sudan braces for mass protest

Troops deployed Sunday in Sudan’s capital ahead of a planned mass protest against the country’s ruling generals, as calls mounted for restraint to prevent a new military crackdown on demonstrators.

The planned “million-man” march is seen as a test for protest organisers whose movement has been hit by a deadly June 3 raid on a Khartoum sit-in and a subsequent internet blackout that has curbed their ability to mobilise support.

Dozens of demonstrators were killed and hundreds wounded when armed men in military fatigues stormed the sit-in outside army headquarters, shooting and beating protesters who had camped there since April 6.

The new protest, expected to start at mid-day, comes at a time when Ethiopia and the African Union (AU) are jointly mediating between the protesters and generals.

On Sunday, the feared paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) deployed in pick-up trucks mounted with machineguns in several squares in Khartoum, an AFP correspondent who toured parts of the capital said.

Morning traffic was lighter than usual for a Sunday, the first day of the week.

Shops stayed shut in areas where protesters were expected.

“I didn’t open my shop as I am worried for the safety of my property, but I’ll stay here and monitor the situation,” said Ahmed Mohamed.

On Saturday, RSF supremo General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo warned that no “vandalism” would be tolerated during Sunday’s protest.

“There are vandals, there are people who have an agenda, a hidden agenda, we don’t want problems,” said Dagalo, who is also the ruling military council’s deputy chief.

Crackdown feared
Protesters fear new violence.

“I expect large numbers… and it’s very possible that security forces will use force,” said Mustafa, 25, who gave only his first name for security reasons as he planned to participate.

Another protester, Talal, 29, was looking forward to Sunday’s rally, the first since the crackdown.

“Even if only a few rallies take place in Khartoum, they will break the barrier of fear and more people will take to the streets” in the coming days, he said.

The umbrella protest movement, the Alliance for Freedom and Change, said demonstrators will launch rallies from several areas in Khartoum and its twin city of Omdurman, and march to the homes of some of the protesters killed on June 3.

About 130 people have been killed since the crackdown, the majority of them on that day, according to doctors close to the alliance.

The health ministry says 61 people died nationwide on June 3.

The ruling military council insists it did not order the dispersal, but acknowledged “excesses” after orders were given to purge a nearby area allegedly notorious for drug peddling.

The council has warned it would hold the alliance “entirely responsible if any soul is lost” in Sunday’s protest.

An RSF unit prevented protest leaders from holding a press conference to unveil plans for Sunday’s rally.

“Before we could start the press conference, three vehicles from the RSF, full of armed men, came to our building and told us not to hold the press conference,” a prominent protest leader, Ahmed al-Rabie, told AFP.

‘World is watching’
Tensions remains high since the June 3 raid, which followed the collapse of talks over who should lead a new governing body — a civilian or soldier.

Ethiopia and the AU have proposed a blueprint for a civilian-majority body, which the generals say could be a basis for resuming talks.

Protesters had initially gathered at the military headquarters to seek the army’s support in ousting longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir.

They kept up their sit-in to demand civilian rule after the generals deposed the president on April 11.

The European Union, several Western nations and rights groups have called on the generals to avoid any violence on Sunday.

Demonstrators’ “right to peacefully protest and express their views on 30 June, or on any other date, remains key,” the European Union said.

Amnesty International’s Secretary General Kumi Naidoo said the military council “must not allow the country to slide back into yet more repression.”

“The world is watching.”

But mobilising protesters has become a challenge since the raid, as the military rulers have imposed a widespread internet blackout.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Shop For 3rd Nanny For Baby Archie
[Image: archie.jpg?resize=504%2C252&ssl=1]
Royal baby Archie Harrison may be less than two months old, but apparently, he’s already experienced quite the staff turnover! According to new reports, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are having a hard time finding the right person to take care of their newborn.

The Sun reports that Meghan and Harry are on their third nanny after two others stopped working for them. But before we all skip to dramatic conclusions, one of the reasons for the turnover could simply be because the family’s needs are changing.

According to a source, “often there are different needs at different stages of the baby’s life. The first nanny was a night nurse.”

The source also notes that the choice of a nanny is “deeply personal” and “depends on the needs of the baby and parents.”

Furthermore, the first-time parents want to make sure that they find the right person to watch over their baby and “do not want to rush this or take any risks getting this decision right.”

Earlier in June it was reported that Harry and Meg hired someone and that the new nanny “had to sign quite an extensive non-disclosure agreement,” but it’s not clear if that nanny is still with them or if they are one of the two who have stopped working for Harry and Meghan.

Whether or not this nanny drama is real or just royal gossip, it looks like they might need to hire someone new come autumn, as the royal couple just announced that they’re going on a tour of Southern Africa and bringing Archie along with them. So either the current nanny has to be okay with traveling for work, or Meg and Harry will have to hire someone else!

Trump Becomes First US President to set foot in North Korea As He Meets Kim
 [Image: 9736306_im86184_jpegf96a0dd19db59c4e6b555ef64713c68c]
The leaders shook hands on the North Korean side of the DMZ, making Trump the first sitting American president to ever set foot in the hermit state, before crossing together to south side and shaking hands again.

Kim said this was "an expression of his willingness" to work toward a new future.

Trump made the surprise announcement hours earlier of his intention to meet Kim at the Joint Security Area patrolled by soldiers from both Koreas near the inter-Korean border.

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un extended warm invitations to one another on Sunday, exchanging lofty visions for the future as they met at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas.

The leaders shook hands on the North Korean side of the DMZ, making Trump the first sitting American president to ever set foot in the hermit state, before crossing together to the South Korean side and shaking hands again.

"It's a great honor to be here," Trump said, adding, "I feel great." Upon leaving closed-door talks with Kim, he described the meeting as "very, very good."
Kim said this was "an expression of his willingness" to work toward a new future.

While the two spoke of reconciliation and diplomatic progress, Trump said that U.S. sanctions on the country over its nuclear weapons and missile development programs would stay for now. The leaders agreed to designate a team to work out the details of future negotiations, Trump said, adding that the U.S. team would be headed by Washington's nuclear envoy Stephen Biegun and that work would begin "over the next two or three weeks."

The sticking point between the historical adversaries has long been the issue of denuclearization, a term whose definition the two countries can't seem to agree on. Washington wants Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons, while Kim and his predecessors view the term to mean broader concessions from the U.S., including the removal of its troops from the Korean peninsula.

Trump made the surprise announcement just hours earlier of his intention to meet Kim at the Joint Security Area patrolled by soldiers from both Koreas near the inter-Korean border. Sunday also marks the first meeting between American and North Korean heads of state at the historic border since a cease-fire was signed ending the Korean War in 1953.

The meeting, which comes on the tails of the G-20, is the third between the two leaders in just over a year. The most recent, in Hanoi, Vietnam in February, collapsed due to disagreements over U.S. sanctions on Pyongyang.

An invitation to the White House

The U.S. president said he invited Kim to the White House during their private talks Sunday, while the two agreed to visit one another's countries "at the right time."

"I would invite him right now to the White House," Trump said, to which the North Korean leader responded that it would be a great honor if Trump visited Pyongyang. Kim expressed his desire to "leave behind the past and move toward the future," according to Reuters.

"It's a great day for the world," Trump said, adding that he was proud to step over the border line. "The world is watching. It's very important to the world," he said, before stepping into private talks with Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in. Moon joined both leaders shortly after he and Trump visited a guard post in the northernmost part of the South Korean side of the DMZ.

Kim lauded the positive relationship between the leaders, saying that Sunday's meeting would have been "impossible" without "the great relationship between us," Reuters reported. Moon echoed Kim's words, attributing what he called a historic meeting to Trump's "bold move."

The Trump administration, like several U.S. administrations before it, is endeavoring to put an end to North Korea's nuclear program. The reclusive country has carried out several nuclear weapons tests in recent years and developed long-range missiles capable of hitting targets thousands of miles away.

Trump appears to have established a personal camaraderie with the North Korean strongman and has voiced optimism about potential for an agreement, though physical progress on the dismantling of the North's nuclear facilities has yet to be seen. U.S. intelligence agencies earlier this year reported that North Korea has begun rebuilding key missile testing facilities for its intercontinental ballistic missile program, reversing a prior moratorium on missile development that Trump had hailed as a foreign policy success after his first meeting with Kim in Singapore in June of 2018.

Instill sanity on Lagos roads, hospitals, group urges Sanwo-Olu

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistic of Nigeria (APFFLON), has called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to end insecurity on Lagos roads and extortion of patients in the general hospitals.

At a press conference on weekend, the National President of the association, Frank Ogunojemite, said it was no longer news that hoodlums seize every opportunity to dispossess motorists of their belongings, especially when they are stuck in traffic.

According to him, “Important steps like the executive order on waste management, zero tolerance on pot holes, the riot act on traffic management, and above all, your urgent intervention in the perennial Apapa gridlock which has brought so much pains to port users and residents, these are indeed noble steps sir.

“Commuters are being molested daily, even in the full glare of the public, and nothing happens. Therefore, it is very imperative to address insecurity to have a safer Lagos.

“Besides, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) must rise to their responsibilities; they should tackle the insecurity on our roads as molestations and robberies have become the order of the day.”

Ogunojemite pointed that the existing number of LASTMA officials on Lagos roads were inadequate and, therefore, suggested that more personnel be recruited.

He also said that the stress and inhuman conditions patients are subjected to in government-owned hospitals should be looked into.

“To see doctors in these government hospitals become very difficult due to systemic corruption, in most cases only those who bribe them go in first for consultation while those who have no money are made to see the doctor last.

“We urge you to set up measures to address the extortion and misconduct as the system has been polluted,” he concluded.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 1ST JULY.

CHRIST OUR “REDEMPTION''

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).

The word, “redemption” in the verse above is translated from the Greek, “apolutrosis,” which means deliverance, redemption, and more importantly, riddance. While these are synonyms of “apolutrosis,” it’s important to understand riddance in the context.

The Bible says, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:15). That’s God assuring His people of deliverance. But now, He has become your riddance, meaning that it doesn’t matter what trouble you get into; He plucks you out; He’ll rid you of that trouble.

Proverbs 12:13 says, “...But the righteous shall come out of trouble” (ASV). That means the righteous may or could get into trouble, but there’s a guarantee of deliverance: Christ! Christ is his deliverance! The mess you’re in could have been self-inflicted or a result of misjudgements; Christ is your assurance that you’re coming out of the trouble, because He’s your riddance. Glory to God!

Christ being your redemption (riddance) means He makes up for your errors. Every mistake, every sin, has been laid to His charge. He’s obligated to save you. He’ll help you out of any quagmire, not because you earned it by your works or efforts, but because you have a ransom in Christ Jesus. He plucks your feet out of the miry clay (Psalm 40:2). Hallelujah!
So, when you make a mistake or get into trouble, be bold to call on Him. He’s not intimidated by your troubles.

No wonder the Psalmist said, “But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psalm 59:16). He’s your deliverance and your Deliverer; your Rescuer; the One who plucks you out of trouble. Glory to His Name forevermore!

CONFESSION

I have my riddance in Christ. It doesn’t matter what troubles come my way; it doesn’t matter what adversities I face; they’re of no effect, because Christ is my riddance. He plucks my feet out of the miry clay. Praise God!

FURTHER STUDY:

Psalm 40:2-3 AMPC 2 He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. 3 And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord.

Isaiah 43:2-5 When thou passest through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I [am] the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt [for] thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I [am] with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

Power Grid Suffers Total Collapse, TCN May Expel Discos
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-01-2019, 08:54 AM - No Replies

The nation’s power grid recorded its eighth total collapse this year on Sunday, plunging consumers across the country into blackout for some hours.

The government-owned Transmission Company of Nigeria, which manages the grid, blamed electricity distribution companies for the system failure, which it said occurred at 9.10 am.

Total generation stood at 3,825 megawatts as of 6.00 am on Sunday, compared to 3,260.9MW on Saturday, the data obtained from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator, an arm of the TCN, showed.

The grid suffered four total collapses in January and one each in February, April and May, according to the system operator.

Enugu Electricity Distribution Plc had announced on its Twitter handle on Sunday afternoon that “the present loss of supply in the entire South-East is as a result of a system collapse which occurred at 09.21 am of today, 30th June, 2019.”

“This is as a result of a fire outbreak on Benin 330KV transmission line reactor. As a result of this unfortunate development, there is zero supply to all customers in our franchise areas as all our injection substations are affected,” it added.

Another Disco, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Plc, also informed its customers about the system failure from the national grid.

“We are currently experiencing a system collapse from the national grid, hence the power outage in our franchise states. Normal supply to our customers will resume as soon as the national grid is back up and stable,” it said on Twitter.

The TCN, in a statement made available to our correspondent around 6.28 pm, said the national grid experienced a system collapse today at 9.10 am due to high voltage following a massive drop of load by the electricity distribution companies.

It said the high voltage also caused a fire incident in the 75MX reactor in the Benin Substation, Sapele Road in Benin City, Edo State.

“The massive load drop led to high voltage in the system, which shattered the lightning arrester in close proximity to the 75MX reactor in Benin Substation. The shattered lightning arrester porcelain hit the reactor bushing, causing a further explosion on the reactor and resulting in a fire outbreak.”

The TCN said the restoration of the grid commenced immediately and as of 1.30pm, bulk power supply to most parts of the nation had been restored.

The company said it had commenced the movement of another reactor to Benin City to replace the burnt reactor and ensure voltage stability in the city as well as prevent a re-occurrence.

It said, “Management would also ensure a review of the entire protection and earthing system nationwide. This is done in addition to the overall upgrading of the system through the TREP programme being financed by multi-lateral donors.

“The installation of three reactors on the Ikot-Ekpene-Ugwuaji–Jos line has reached an advance stage. It is expected that once these three reactors are installed and inaugurated, the grid would be further stabilised. TCN management wishes to assure Nigerians that it is doing everything possible to modernise, upgrade and stabilise the national grid.”

Meanwhile, the TCN has said it may expel some Discos from the market as a result of their inability to provide their security cover.

Last week, the Market Operator, an arm of the TCN, ordered the suspension of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company and Eko Electricity Distribution Company from the MO-administered markets for failing to renew their security cover.

According to the TCN, security cover when so required of an amount established by Market Operator to serve as a form of guarantee of payment for all amounts due from the participant to the MO.

The Managing Director, TCN, Mr Usman Mohammed, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Sunday, said Enugu Disco was given a disconnection notice while Ikeja and Eko Discos only got a notice of suspension from the market.

He said if they don’t make good within a certain period of time, the next thing that will happen is that they will be expelled, and when they are expelled, it means that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission will be notified that those people are incapable of meeting their responsibilities in the market, so NERC should invoke its business continuity regulation to ensure that they are replaced.

“We did not disconnect Eko and Ikeja Discos because the gravity of their offence did not warrant that. But in Enugu, we disconnected some lines. When they (Enugu Disco) make good, they will be restored to the market. But if they don’t, they will go to the next level, which is expulsion.”

Bandits surrender 216 rifles in Zamfara State

Quote:“Matawalle maintained that Nigeria now needs more of his personality with the current situation of banditry, kidnapping and other heinous crimes in order to advise current leaders in handling the terrible situation.

Presidency issues statement on the Ruga settlement backlash, says 'Its to resolve farmers/herders conflicts'

The Presidency has just issued a statement to address what it describes as the 'recent unhelpful comments regarding the plan to stop roaming of cattle herders with the attendant clashes with farmers'.

According to Garba Shehu, “Ruga Settlement” that seeks to settle migrant pastoral families simply means rural settlement in which animal farmers, not just cattle herders, will be settled in an organized place with provision of necessary and adequate basic amenities such as schools, hospitals, road networks, vet clinics, markets and manufacturing entities that will process and add value to meats and animal products.

Quote:Beneficiaries will include all persons in animal husbandry, not only Fulani herders. The Federal Government is planning this in order to curb open grazing of animals that continue to pose security threats to farmers and herders.
The overall benefit to the nation includes a drastic reduction in conflicts between herders and farmers, a boost in animal protection complete with a value chain that will increase the quality and hygiene of livestock in terms of beef and milk production, increased quality of feeding and access to animal care and private sector participation in commercial pasture production by way of investments.
Other gains are job creation, access to credit facilities, security for pastoral families and curtailment of cattle rustling.
Stripped of the politics and howling that has attended the recent comments, there is no government plan to seize state land, colonize territory or impose Ruga on any part of the federation. Government has made it clear time and again that the programme is voluntary.
So far, twelve states have applied to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, making lands available for the take-off of the scheme in their states. This number is sufficient for the pilot scheme.
Unfortunately, some state governments that have not signified interest in the scheme and, therefore, are not on the invitation list have been misleading people that the Federal Government is embarking on a scheme to take away their lands.
Mostly, these are state leaders that have no explanation to offer their people for continued non-payment of workers’ salaries. It is true that government at the centre has gazetted lands in all states of the federation but because the idea is not to force this programme on anyone, the government has limited the take-off to the dozen states with valid requests.
We urge states to join the Federal Government at the centre in encouraging all sides to these conflicts to make efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution. As we seek a permanent solution to these unwanted conflicts, efforts must be made to ensure that no innocent person faces any kind of deprivation or loss of right and freedom under our laws.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sean Davis couldn’t help but notice the big-money contracts fellow NFL safeties landed during free agency. It was impossible not to.Landon Collins scored $84 million from the Washington Redskins. Earl Thomas snagged $55 million from Baltimore. Tyrann Matthieu and LaMarcus Joyner both signed for more than $40 million. That’s life-changing money.Still Joey Bosa Jersey , Davis insists he’s entering the fourth and final year of the rookie contract he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016 focused on taking a step forward after an occasionally bumpy 2018, not a possibly lucrative payday that beckons next spring.“Yeah I think the safety market went up,” Davis said Tuesday after participating in organized team activities for the first time after sitting out the first two weeks with what he described as overall stiffness.“That just puts a little more pressure on me to get the job done and to compete with (those) contracts but like I said, it’s no pressure. I’m not putting no pressure on myself. No pressure on my team. I’m just trying to do the best I can.”Something the Steelers need Davis to do if they want to bounce back from a late-season collapse in which they let a 2½-game lead in the AFC North disappear over the final month.Pittsburgh moved him from strong safety to free safety last summer, believing Davis’ physicality and experience would help him be a difference-maker in the secondary after cutting Mike Mitchell.Things didn’t exactly work out as planned. Paired with rookie strong safety Terrell Edmunds, Davis had a respectable 80 tackles, but also finished with just one interception as part of a secondary that grabbed just six in all and a defense that had only eight in 566 pass attempts, 28th in the league.“One interception is not acceptable Nick Bosa Jersey ,” Davis said. Not if Davis wants to close the gap between the player he thinks he can be and the player who has put together three seasons in which flashes of brilliance have been followed by bouts of inconsistency and a bit of bad luck. One snap against the Los Angeles Chargers last season symbolized all three.Pittsburgh was leading 23-7 late in the third quarter when Los Angeles quarterback Philip Rivers dropped back to pass . He tried to thread the ball to wide receiver Keenan Allen in the end zone only to have Davis and Steelers cornerback Joe Haden jump the route. Yet rather than knock it down or pick it off, they smacked into each other. The ball popped up in the air and into Allen’s awaiting arms for a touchdown, the spark that propelled the Chargers to a comeback victory.Aggression has never been a problem for the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Davis, whose massive biceps along with the visor that shields his eyes from view create an intimidating presence. He’s not afraid to throw his body around, a mindset that hasn’t cost him much in terms of playing time. He’s been remarkably durable. When he sat out the 2018 regular-season finale with a quadriceps injury, it marked the first game in his career he was forced to watch in street clothes.Davis believes he’s taken a step forward in each of his first three seasons. He understands he’ll have to take another one to help Pittsburgh get back to the playoffs.Though he insists he’s not worrying about his long-term prospects, he did switch agents over the winter L.J. Collier Jersey , hiring Drew Rosenhaus to represent him in his final year before potential free agency.“I just needed a change,” Davis said. “Drew is a top agent. He wants the best for me.”Whether that means staying in Pittsburgh is uncertain. The Steelers typically make a concerted effort to keep players they covet from hitting the open market, yet Davis said the club has yet to reach out about a possible new deal. It’s something he’s trying not to worry about. He’s more concerned about his relationship with Edmunds — the two spent time after practice ended Tuesday putting in extra work in one of the end zones — and getting a firmer grasp of what his role is in defensive coordinator Keith Butler’s system.“No big plays,” Davis said. “That’s really my big thing. More turnovers. We need more turnovers. Defense definitely has an uphill battle this year but I know we can get it done.”NOTES: The Steelers signed former players William Gay and David Johnson as coaching interns for 2019. Gay, a former cornerback, played 10 of his 11 seasons in the NFL with the Steelers, the last in 2017. Johnson, a former tight end/fullback http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/a...air-jersey , spent five of his seven seasons in the league in Pittsburgh. He last played in 2016. Struggling Cincinnati Reds right-hander Homer Bailey has halted his injury rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Louisville.
Bailey made one start for Louisville and allowed five runs in three innings Monday. He has been on the disabled list with right knee inflammation since May 30 and interim manager Jim Riggleman said before Friday night’s game against the Pirates that Bailey informed the Reds that he is not healthy enough to pitch.
In 12 major leagues starts this season, Bailey is 1-7 with a 6.68 ERA. He pitched no-hitters in both 2012 and 2013 for the Reds but has been limited to 38 starts over the last four seasons because of arm injuries.
Bailey, 32, is making $21 million this season in the fifth year of a $105-million, six-year contract.

Oakland Raiders long snapper Jon Condo says the team has told him he won’t return in 2018.
Condo said on his Twitter account Wednesday that the Raiders told his agent he won’t be back when he becomes a free agent next week.
Condo was initially signed to Oakland’s practice squad in 2006 and became the team’s long snapper the following season. He played 173 of 176 games over 11 years with the Raiders.
Oakland had signed two long snappers to futures contracts earlier this offseason Shareef Miller Jersey , Andrew East and Bradley Northnagel.
The Raiders previously announced that kicker Sebastian Janikowski won’t be back next year, meaning there will be no players remaining who were acquired before longtime owner Al Davis died in October 2011.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL’s salary cap will jump $11 million next season to $188.2 million. In the ninth year of the 10-year labor agreement, the cap moves up from $177.2 million. It has increased in every year of the contract, with the biggest move in 2015 to 2016 Germaine Pratt Jersey , when it went up by just under $12 million. This is the third year out of four in which clubs must reach 89 percent in cash spending, and the NFL Players Association said Friday that four teams are under that threshold: Dallas, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Houston.League expenditures for benefits are $40.5 million per team. Add that to the salary cap number and each club’s player costs are above $228 million.Benefits includes pension payments to former players; the Bell/Rozelle retirement and disability plan for active players; annuities and 401 (k) plans; health care; injury protection and severance; veteran performance-based pay; a separate pool of performance-based pay that’s essentially a cash bonus to players who outperform their contracts. With the NFL’s revenues at more than $14 billion and every team worth at least $1.6 billion (Buffalo) http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/au...ley-jersey , with a high of about $5 billion (Dallas), it’s hardly a surprise how high the cap has gone. In the first year of the current CBA, reached after a lockout of the players from March-July 2011, the cap was $120 million. It has increased by at least $10 million every year since 2014 Renell Wren Jersey , when it went up to $133 million from $123 million. There should be plenty of money available to free agents when the league’s business year begins March 13. On average, teams have about $35 million in space after making offseason moves, with more certain to come. Also, only placekicker Robbie Gould of San Francisco has been given a franchise tag; the deadline is Tuesday. Two clubs http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/au...dan-jersey , Philadelphia and Jacksonville, still must make moves to get under the cap.Agents for players can begin negotiating free-agent deals with teams on March 11, but can’t officially close them before 4 p.m. EDT on March 13.

THOUSAND OAKS Maxx Crosby Jersey , Calif. (AP) — Todd Gurley roots for running backs when he watches football. A playoff duel between arguably the two best ball-carriers in the NFL would be irresistible to him as a fan.Gurley won’t be watching the Los Angeles Rams‘ playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys from his couch, however. He’ll be in the Coliseum on Saturday night to go up against Ezekiel Elliott in a tantalizing matchup that should play a large role in deciding which team moves on to the NFC championship game.“It’s not really about us,” Gurley said Wednesday night. “It’s a team game. Obviously, we’ve got to hype it up, Zeke versus Gurley, but it’ll be a good game. He’s a great back, and I guess I’m not too bad myself.”The good feelings are mutual between these elite running backs when the Cowboys (11-6) visit the Rams (13-3). Gurley and Elliott are friends who realize they have a remarkably similar style of play, adding an extra bit of intrigue to an already compelling matchup.“He’s a big, fast back,” Elliott said about Gurley. “He can run inside. He can run outside. He can run through you, jump over you, around you, make you miss. He’s a great asset out of the backfield. Just a guy who has a well-rounded game and really doesn’t have any weaknesses.”Indeed, no backs in the league exemplify the current ideal combination of power, speed and versatility better than Gurley or Elliott, who have established themselves as destroyers of defenses behind two of the league’s best offensive lines.Gurley and Elliott are dangerous as ball-carriers and as pass-catchers. They’re the centerpieces of their respective offenses, with Elliott’s 381 touches leading the NFL and Gurley ranking fourth with 315 touches after sitting out the Rams’ past two games with a knee injury that appears to be healing well.Although they’ve played only seven combined NFL seasons, they’ve already compiled individual accolades to back up their stature. Elliott won the NFL rushing title last month for the second time, while Gurley led the league in touchdowns and finished third in the rushing race this season after winning the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award last season.“He has everything you want in a running back,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Gurley. “He’s quick, he’s fast, he’s explosive Hakeem Butler Jersey , he’s strong, has great instincts for the game, great feel for the game, outstanding vision. He can beat you with speed. He can beat you with power. He can beat you cutting back. He can beat you when they hand him the ball. He can beat you when they throw him the ball. He’s great running after the catch. He plays with a competitive spirit. He’s just a fantastic player.”Garrett then realized he knows another back with very similar qualities.“In some ways, I probably did describe Ezekiel Elliott,” he said. “Both big-time players who can do everything you want them to do on the field and embrace carrying the burden for their team.”Their skills aren’t limited to taking handoffs, either.Elliott was also the Cowboys’ leading receiver this season with 77 catches for 567 yards. He has touched the ball at least 20 times in each of his past nine games.Gurley made 59 catches for 580 yards this season, his numbers declining only slightly after Sean McVay turned him into a huge target in the Rams’ passing game last year. Gurley played a role of increased sophistication, lining up in new spots and learning new skills in McVay’s innovative schemes.Elliott and his offensive line are particularly daunting challenges for the Rams’ defense, which yielded 5.1 yards per rush this season — worst in the NFL.“It’s a big challenge to stop their running game, especially (Elliott),” Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said. “But all our guys know that, so that’s a challenge. We’ve challenged our guys with, ‘Hey, we can’t let him run the ball, or certainly run wild on us.'”Gurley hasn’t played in four weeks after taking the final two regular-season games off to rest his balky knee. He is easing back into practice this week, with the Rams trying to keep him fresh for the challenge presented by a Cowboys run defense that held backs to 3.8 yards per carry, fifth-best in the league.Gurley doesn’t look at Saturday as a personal competition with Elliott — but if he did, he would have plenty of motivation. While Elliott won the NFL rushing title as a rookie in 2016 and again this year, Gurley has yet to claim the title. Elliott also earned his first playoff victory last week, rushing for 137 yards against Seattle, while Gurley is still looking for his first postseason win.“He’s a big back Chris Lindstrom Jersey , like myself,” Gurley said. “Basically fast, strong, catches the ball. He goes out there and proves it every week. He gets it done.” Bart Starr was an ordinary quarterback until teaming with Vince Lombardi on the powerhouse Green Bay Packers teams that ruled the 1960s and ushered in the NFL as America’s most popular sport. The quarterback’s graceful throws helped turn a run-heavy league into a passing spectacle, yet it’s a run for which he’s most famous: the sneak that won the famed “Ice Bowl” in 1967.Starr died Sunday at age 85 in Birmingham, Alabama, the Packers said. He had been in failing health since suffering two strokes and a heart attack in 2014.Starr is the third of Lombardi’s dozen Hall of Famers to die in the past eight months. Fullback Jim Taylor died in October and offensive tackle Forrest Gregg died last month.“A champion on and off the field, Bart epitomized class and was beloved by generations of Packers fans,” Packers President Mark Murphy said in a statement. “A clutch player who led his team to five NFL titles, Bart could still fill Lambeau Field with electricity decades later during his many visits.”The Packers selected Starr out of the University of Alabama with the 200th pick in the 1956 draft. He led Green Bay to six division titles, five NFL championships and wins in the first two Super Bowls.“Bart Starr was one of the most genuine, sincere people I knew,” NFL Commissioner Roger Godell said in a statement. “He personified the values of our league as a football player, a family man, and a tireless philanthropist who cared deeply about helping at-risk kids. Above all, he was a wonderful human being who will be remembered for his kindness and compassion.”Until Brett Favre came along, Starr was known as the best Packer ever. The team retired his No. 15 jersey in 1973, making him just the third player to receive that honor. Four years later, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. After losing the 1960 NFL title game in his first playoff appearance, the Packers never lost another playoff game under Starr, going 9-0 http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/...ary-jersey , including wins over the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders in the first two Super Bowls.Starr’s college career wasn’t very noteworthy and it wasn’t until Lombardi’s arrival in Green Bay in 1959 that Starr, living by his motto “desire and dedication are everything,” began to blossom.Lombardi liked Starr’s mechanics, his arm strength and especially his decision-making abilities. Under Lombardi’s nurturing, Starr became one of the league’s top quarterbacks.“If you work harder than somebody else, chances are you’ll beat him though he has more talent than you,” Starr once said. He credited Lombardi for showing him “that by working hard and using my mind, I could overcome my weakness to the point where I could be one of the best.”The gentlemanly quarterback’s status as a Packers icon was tested by his struggles as the team’s head coach. In nine seasons from 1975-83, he won just 41 percent of his games, going 53-77-3, including 1-1 in the playoffs, part of three decades of futility that followed the glory years. After football, Starr, became a successful businessman in Birmingham, not far from his hometown of Montgomery, where he was born on Jan. 9, 1934.Starr was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time All-Pro. He won NFL titles in 1961, ’62, ’65, ’67 and ’68. He was the 1966 NFL MVP and was named to the 1960s All-Decade team. He also was named MVP of the first two Super Bowls.“Bart was a true gentleman, a great player and a great pioneer for the NFL,” fellow Hall of Famer John Elway tweeted. “He set a tremendous example for all QBs to emulate.”When Starr retired following the 1971 season Kendall Sheffield Jersey , his career completion rate of 57.4 percent was tops in the run-heavy NFL, and his passer rating of 80.5 was second-best ever, behind only Otto Graham. But the play he was most famous for was a run.In the NFL championship on Dec. 31, 1967, Starr knifed into the end zone behind guard Jerry Kramer and center Ken Bowman with 16 seconds left to lift the Packers over the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 in what became known as the “Ice Bowl.”The Packers had spent $80,000 for a heating coil system that was to have kept the field soft and warm, and forecasters said not to worry because the approaching cold front wouldn’t arrive until after the game.“It was 20 degrees the day before,” the late Tom Landry once recalled. “It was great. Vince and I were together that night and we talked about how good the conditions were and what a great game it would be.”They were half-right. When the grounds crew rolled up the tarpaulin, a layer of condensation had formed underneath and, with 40 mph wind, the field promptly froze like an ice rink. Packers running back Chuck Mercein would later compare the ground to “jagged concrete.”With a temperature of minus-14 and a wind chill of minus-49, it was the coldest NFL game ever recorded. The wind chill had dipped another 20 degrees by the time the Packers got the ball at their 32 trailing 17-14 with five minutes left. With one last chance for an aging dynasty to win a fifth NFL title in seven seasons, Starr took the field as linebacker Ray Nitschke hollered, “Don’t let me down!”Starr wouldn’t, completing all five of his passes and directing one of the most memorable drives in NFL history.“We all have a capacity to focus and to concentrate to a unique degree when we’re called upon to do it,” Starr said on the 30th anniversary of that game. “That’s exactly what I did that day. And I think the same was true of the Cowboys. Let’s face it, they obviously were not accustomed to something like that and yet they were the team which had surged and come back in the second half and were in a position to win it.”With 1:11 remaining, tackle Bob Skoronski opened a hole and Mercein charged through the middle for 8 yards to the Dallas 3.Halfback Donny Anderson slipped twice on handoffs, so Starr called timeout, went to the sideline and suggested a sneak because of the poor traction.“Then run it and let’s get the hell out of here,” Lombardi barked. The play worked perfectly, a flawless finish to that coldest of games so frozen in time.“I’ve never been in a huddle where there was greater composure and where there was a higher level of intensity and concentration http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/...sky-jersey ,” Mercein once told The Associated Press.Mercein is the one in the famous photograph of the play diving into the end zone behind Starr with his hands held high, as though he’s signaling “Touchdown!”“But what I’m actually doing is I’m showing the officials that I’m not assisting or aiding Bart into the end zone,” Mercein said. That would have been a penalty and it would have negated history’s most famous quarterback sneak.Mercein and the rest of his teammates thought he was going to get the handoff on the play. Nobody knew but Starr and Lombardi that it was to be a quarterback sneak. So, Mercein dug in, thinking he was getting the ball, and he got a great takeoff on the frozen field.“As a matter of fact too good because after a couple of steps I realized I wasn’t going to get the ball. But I couldn’t really pull up because it was so icy,” Mercein said. “So that’s why I dive over the play and I have my arms upraised, which appears to everyone in that famous picture that I’m signaling touchdown.”Two weeks later in sunny Miami, the Packers defeated the AFL champion Raiders 33-14 in Lombardi’s final game as head coach of the Packers.Starr replaced Dan Devine as Packers head coach in 1975 and would be replaced himself by former teammate Forrest Gregg in 1984 after failing to lead the franchise to the kind of success he did as a player. In 1965, Starr and his wife, Cherry, helped co-found Rawhide Boys Ranch in New London, Wisconsin, a facility designed to help at-risk and troubled boys throughout the state. The couple dealt with tragedy in 1988 when their son Brett died at 24 due to complications from cocaine addiction. They also had another son, Bart Jr.“While he may always be best known for his success as the Packers quarterback for 16 years, his true legacy will always be the respectful manner in which he treated every person he met, his humble demeanor and his generous spirit,” Starr’s family said in a statement.“His love for all of humanity is well known, and his affection toward the residents of Alabama and of Wisconsin filled him with gratitude. He had hoped to make one last trip to Green Bay to watch the Packers this fall, but he shall forever be there in spirit.”Starr has an NFL award named after him, given annually to a player of outstanding character.

Professional athletes have it pretty good. While they generally work their tails off Tytus Howard Jersey , they are compensated quite well for what they do. But just like in any other line of work, there are those that earn their paychecks and there are those that don’t. Almost every workplace has that worker who earns a higher salary but doesn’t have the same work ethic and productive output as others that earn less and contribute more. This is especially true in professional sports where athletes are often compensated for past greatness. Many athletes have the uncanny ability to have a career year just as their current contract is expiring. Many people argue that athletes are grossly overpaid in the first place and it is hard to dispute the point. It is hard to accept that Alex Rodriguez is pulling in $21 million this year when we consider he is batting a paltry .206 and has just nine homers. Of course, paying Mark Teixeira over $23 million for his dismal .190 batting average is even worse. Still, for every Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira who are clearly overpaid, there are players like Jose Altuve and DJ LeMahieu who are producing far beyond their paygrades.Let’s take a look at Top 15 NFLers Who Aren't Paid What They Should Be. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard did his homework on Bobby Okereke. A sexual assault allegation from 2015 didn’t scare him off.Just hours after Okereke’s name surfaced publicly for the first time in the case, Ballard told reporters on a conference call he took a hard look at Okereke’s past and made others in the organization aware of the accusation before selecting the Stanford linebacker in April’s NFL draft.“When we looked at it and talked to him Rock Ya-Sin Jersey , it was an incident from four years ago. He was never charged with a crime, he was never disciplined by the university,” Ballard said. “He was a team captain, up for the Lott IMPACT award, he graduated with a degree in management and engineering and he’s working on a master’s. From everything we gathered, we felt it was appropriate to take him.”Okereke has not spoken about the incident since it was first reported by The Fountain Hopper http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/auth...ogu-jersey , an independent student-run website at Stanford. The New York Times initially reported on the case in December 2016, without naming the parties involved, and said a university board twice voted 3-2 in favor of the accuser but that no punishment was assessed because Stanford policy required a vote of at least 4-1. The Times also reported the university denied the accuser’s request for a third hearing.Ballard said he learned of the allegation when Okereke addressed it during their first meeting at the Senior Bowl in January. The Colts, Ballard said, then spoke multiple times with Okereke, contacted Stanford officials and reached out to others close to Okereke to create a more complete picture of the NFL prospect. Ballard said nobody spoke to the accuser or her attorney.Ballard also made Colts owner Jim Irsay aware of the accusation prior to taking the 6-foot-1 Khari Willis Jersey , 239-pound linebacker with a third-round pick, No. 89 overall.“I don’t want to sit here and act like we don’t have sympathy for both sides,” Ballard said, noting that he has three daughters. “It happened four years ago, and because there were no charges and no disciplinary action taken by the university, and because of his track record since Josh Allen Jersey , we felt comfortable drafting him.”Okereke recorded 96 tackles for the Cardinal in 2017 and 2018 and was named to the Butkus Award and Bednarik Award watch lists. He also was a quarterfinalist for the Lott Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top defensive player for his performance on and off the field. The Colts believe Okereke can add depth to an improving linebacker group and perhaps may emerge as a future starter.“He was very honest about his side of the story and what occurred and how he had to move forward,” Ballard said. “It’s a very sensitive subject and it’s hard, I get that.Ballard added: “We talked it through and at the end of the day it falls on me.”

Ruga Settlements: FG To Woo Colonies With N2.26bn Grazing Reserve Budget
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2019, 11:33 PM - No Replies

The Federal Government originally planned to have the controversial Ruga settlements in every part of the country and not only in 11 states.

But the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Ekiti Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said the Ruga initiative had been blown out of proportion.

There are strong indications on Saturday that members of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, may call for the investigation into the Federal Government sponsored Ruga projects for Fulani herdsmen across the country.

We learnt on Saturday that funding arrangements, as well as other things that would ensure a seamless operation of the settlements, were still being discussed.

Senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, who had earlier given one of our correspondents the names of states where the settlements were currently being perfected, stated that the affected states and the Federal Government were still discussing many other issues about the settlements, including funding.

The source said, “Generally, it is a policy conceived by the Federal Government to cover the entire country. But the government decided to discuss it with the states and said states that are willing should indicate interest.

“Of course, the Federal Government is going to carry the states that are interested along. It is mainly between the Federal Government and the interested states, discussions are still ongoing and we can’t give a final figure on funding now.

“But we are surprised at the political undertone that this issue is having. Why will a group from Benue stage a protest that government wants to invade their land?”

Umar also said the state governments that indicated interest had been visiting the ministry to get details about the initiative, as discussions were still ongoing to perfect the scheme.

He said, “Already state and local governments are buying into the initiative. Many states have indicated interest. They have been coming to the ministry and stated their interest to join to ensure that we set up Ruga settlements in their states so that their nomads will have a place. They will also have cattle markets and modern abattoirs in their states.”

On May 21, 2019, the immediate past Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, announced that Buhari approved the Ruga settlement initiative earlier in the same month.

No state can be forced to surrender land, says Fayemi

Fayemi, while responding to an inquiry from one of our correspondents via a text message, said the initiative had nothing to do with the NGF, stressing that issues surrounding land use were at the discretion of respective governors.

He said, “The so-called Ruga initiative has nothing to do with NGF. We have never discussed this and none of my colleagues has raised the matter in my period in office.”

Fayemi said no state could be forced to surrender land within its jurisdiction and as such there was no cause for alarm.

The governor added, “I don’t believe any state is under threat of its land being taken over for this purpose. Governors have exclusive preserve over the land within their states jurisdiction. This is a storm in a teacup.”

PDP senators to demand probe

They described as unfair any action by the Federal Government to take over other people’s land for the establishment of herdsmen settlements with billions from the national treasury, promising to initiate probe into the project.

He said, “We have to study the provisions in the 2019 budget and see whether the Fulani herdsmen settlements projects were adequately captured in it. We will know what to do if the project was captured in the budget or not. But definitely, we should look into it.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has allocated the sum of N2.26bn in the 2019 budget for the development of national grazing reserves.

The amount is contained in the 2019 budget signed into law by the President on May 28.

Specifically, the N2.26bn is contained under the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Emeka Ike who revealed that he has remarried while talking about a trip to Germany, said he was still in pain of his first marriage which ended when he met his new wife. Recall that his new wife, Yolanda had in February 2019 told her followers that she is the veteran actor's wife-to-be. Here are excerpts from the interview below;

Where did you travel to recently?

I have been around the world but my trip to Germany two years ago was very memorable. I travelled to the country to get an award as a living legend.

What was the highlight of your trip?

The highlight of my trip was the award I got and I met a lot of fans. Also, I met a lady and today, she is my wife. I just went to pick an award and not for anything romantic because I was still in pain (from my former marriage). I didn’t want to fall in love.

Angel, the Big Brother Reality Show star has called out President Buhari who he accused of Islamization and Fulanization following the establishment of Ruga settlements across the country.

Angel who accused President Buhari of Islamization and Fulanization, stated that the plan was taken at the expense of other ethnic groups in Nigeria. The reality show star who stated that he is an Ijaw man and a fisherman, asked why there are no Ijaw settlements in areas where there are rivers.

He wrote in his call out post;

"Rape is an inhuman and extremely evil act, but if this is what is annoying you today then you must be a FOOL as rape is not new. RUGA however is a direct attempt to destroy Nigeria’s unity. Please look it up. And I stand against rape in every form including statutory rape which can be with a consenting minor, it is evil."

Photos: 14-year old boy found trekking from Imo State to his hometown in Abia State after running away from his abusive madam

A Nigerian industrialist, Ikechukwu Osuji (pictured) has narrated how he helped a 14-year-boy he found along the highway trekking to his hometown in Abia State from Imo State after he ran away from his 'abusive madam'. read below:

Quote:Touching story of molested Abia boy Child
On my way from IMO to abia this morning I met a boy trekking on a lonely highway, I was moved that he needs help: I pulled over and called him, he narrated a painful story.
He said he was 14years old and was trekking from IMO to bend local government in umuahia abia state. A journey over 30 killometers according to my findings he ran away from a woman he was serving as a maid.
He said the woman use to maltreat him to the extend he flogs him on the rip often. He has sleeped outside for three days. And this is the third time such thing is happening to him and made up his mind to trek home.
I took him and changed my direction to bende local government to the extent we got to a bad road I packed and pick a bike to over three extra kilometer which I paid 700 to motorbike and on the way got to a river that only leg can cross we walked/swim and crossed to his poor home.
The kids in the village and parents was happy that he was home.the parents said the madam called three days ago that he was missing. I m happy to help him home.
Please let's help others as we wish to be helped,  kids are stubborn but which ever way control them with love or take them home if you don't want them to serve you again.
What of if he died in the forest?  What if he landed in the hands of evil men.
Please what so ever you wish that men should do to you, do also to them.
I love you all

T.B. Joshua’s Isreal Visit Described As Huge Success
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2019, 04:33 PM - No Replies

In the last week, Israeli media has been awash with news of the controversial visit of Nigerian cleric T.B. Joshua to Nazareth.

Initial news of the visit ignited a furore among apprehensive religious leaders from both the Muslim and Orthodox Christian sector but the tone among locals has emphatically shifted in the aftermath of the successful event.

Dele Momodu, the larger-than-life owner of Ovation Magazine and erstwhile presidential candidate in Nigeria, was among the visitors in Israel to attend the much-publicised Christian event in Jesus’ hometown.

Whilst traversing the ‘Holy Land’, he sampled opinions regarding the controversial cleric and was surprised at the warm response of Israeli’s.

“Joshua-mania hits Israel… It is incredible how T.B. Joshua is wowing the people of Israel,” wrote Momodu to his 500,000 followers on Instagram, subsequently sharing short video clips of taxi drivers speaking glowingly of the cleric.

“Joshua is a good man,” a Nazarene driver named Alosh ecstatically remarked to Momodu. “He is always welcome to Israel. Everyone knows him here and we love him!”

Buttressing Momodu’s assertion, the Mayor of Nazareth, Ali Sallam, touted the economic benefit derived by Joshua’s visit in an interview with local Arabic media, stating the region of Nazareth would accrue up to $1,000,000 as a result of the influx of tourists.

A Nigerian living in Israel named Kennedy stated that Israeli reactions towards him – and his fellow Africans living in the nation – had significantly brightened after Joshua’s two-day event.

“Many of us Africans who work here in Israel are treated with suspicion and we sometimes feel marginalised,” the Tel-Aviv based electrician originally from Imo State said in a video posted online.

“But after TB Joshua’s visit, I have observed a notable difference. Many people have approached to ask me more about Nigeria; they are responding far more positively to me and black people in general,” he stated. “I can testify that T.B. Joshua’s meeting in Nazareth is rebranding Africa’s image abroad.”

Writing on Facebook, Julian H – a pilgrim from UK who attended the event – recounted the experience of how an Arabian seller at a local market gave him free fruit after learning he had attended the meeting with Joshua.

“He told me he watched the event live on a local station and was amazed that miracles can still happen today in Nazareth,” the Brit explained.

“Whether you hate this man or like him, the fact remains that T.B Joshua is Nigeria’s biggest export to the world at the moment,” penned Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, a lawyer and social media influencer, on Facebook.

“No other Nigerian – dead or alive – has the capacity to attract such global media attention except him, which makes him one of Africa’s biggest ever icons,” he bluntly wrote.

Opinion among the local Muslim community in Nazareth – which was significantly divisive before the event – has also swung heavily in the pastor’s favour in the aftermath.

“I thought Joshua was coming to try and force us to convert,” an Arabic clothes vendor named Habib stated.

“But I realise he is just a good man with a message of love for all. Also, I sold more in this last week than in the last four months combined because of the tourists he brought to our town – so he’s definitely welcome back!”

A young group of Arabic men admitted they actually attended the event to mock it. “I went with my friends for a joke. I thought they were all a bunch of actors but when I saw someone whom I personally knew receive healing, I started taking it seriously,” wrote Ahmed Dahar in Arabic on Facebook.

The two-day meeting, which has been viewed 500,000 times on Emmanuel TV’s YouTube channel since its broadcast, also received coverage from international media such as The New York Times and Reuters.

The Police Deny Reported Chasing Out Of Herdsmen In Enugu, Threaten Sanction
User Avatar Forum: News

The Police in Enugu State have described the reported chasing away of some herdsmen from Enugu community as the handiwork of mischief makers, vowing to bring such persons to book.

DAILY POST reports that this was contained in a statement issued Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the State, SP Ebere Amaraizu.

A video had surfaced online, with a claim that herders were chased away from Nenwe in Nkanu, Enugu State.

But Amaraizu, in the statement, declared that no such incident happened in the State.

The statement read: “The Enugu State command of the Nigeria police force wishes to inform members of the public that its attention has been drawn to information in existence that large herd of cows and some herders were escorted peacefully out of nenwe, Aninri community of Enugu state on 29/6/19 by youths believed to be from Agbada Nenwe.

“The Police wish to update members of the public who may have been misinformed with the state of things.

“On receipt of this information, the state commissioner of police directed for an investigation into the alleged development and following preliminary enquiry conducted, it was revealed that such situation never existed and that it was only the movement of cattle and herders from Cross River State, through Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government area of Ebonyi State and a neighboring town for grazing.

“The said piece of information in circulation is viewed to be the handiwork of mischief makers who want to brew rancour, cause panic and fear and also sow seed of acrimony as well as instigating violence.

“The command has already commenced action with a view to identifying and fishing out those in the habit of mischievous information so that they can be brought to book. The commissioner of police enjoins all to be law abiding and go about their normal lawful businesses,” he further stated.

Boko Haram Takes Over Nigerian Navy Base On Lake Chad - Sahara Reporters
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:The video showed some members of the terrorist group jubilating in one of the ships belonging to the Nigerian Navy in Lake Chad.

They shot into the air as a sign of victory, chanting "Allah Akbar" (God is the greatest).

Four of the naval officers captured alive were made to introduce themselves while being recorded before they were eventually executed by the terrorist group.

Three of the naval officers introduced themselves as Ebirek Adewale with official number X12907, Muhammed Muhammed, and Aliyu Adamu, an excavator operator.

The fourth naval officers in the video released by the terrorist group said, “I was drafted from naval Air Wing, Port Harcourt, under the command of Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder to Naval Base, Lake Chad, Baga, Borno State.

“Our base was attacked on the 26th to 27th. We are on our way to escape. I was captured by the Army Kalaifa (sic) and now we are under their detention as prisoners of war.”

The insurgent group in the new video documentary released footage of the victories it has recorded in a series of attacks against the Nigerian military.

The video showed different gun battles between the insurgent group and the military with the Boko Haram group having the upper hand.

The Boko Haram sects also showed some armoured personnel carrier, guns and other battle arms taken from the military.

Another part of the video showed the insurgent group setting ablaze a Nigerian flag and that of the Nigerian Army in a camp of the Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force, Baga, Borno State.

The insurgent group also showed its members overrunning the base, killing all military personnel around and taking over all cars and arsenal belonging to the Nigerian Army.

The Nigerian government has on different occasions claimed victory against the terrorist group saying the terrorist group had been confined to the outskirt of Borno.

This claim is, however, contradictory to the daily killings by the insurgent group in different parts of Borno with the latest being the overrunning of a military base in Yobe State.

Atiku Files N2.5bn Libel Suit Against Lauretta Onochie

Posted by: Edoman - 06-30-2019, 03:11 PM - No Replies

A former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has carried out his threat to sue President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, for her alleged libellous tweet via her Twitter handle on May 7, 2019.

The post allegedly suggested that Atiku was on the watch list of security operatives in the United Arab Emirates and had travelled to shop for terrorists in the Middle East.

Atiku, through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), filed a N2.5bn suit against Onochie before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on June 26.

“To say that the claimant is shopping for terrorists knowing same to be untrue and without any foundation is not only dishonest and reckless, but is calculated and politically designed to instigate security agents against him not only in the UAE, but across the world,” he stated in his statement of claim accompanying the suit.”

Atiku and PDP appeal to Supreme Court, insist INEC’s server contains results

The Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the February 23, election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have kept their vow to appeal the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s rejection of their request to access the “central server” which they alleged housed the results of the poll electronically transmitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission during the exercise.

A four-ground notice of appeal has been filed by the petitioners, urging the Supreme Court to not only set aside the June 24, 2019 decision of the tribunal, but to also grant all their prayers “contained in the motion on notice dated and filed (before the tribunal) on May 8, 2019.”

Shortly after the tribunal delivered the said ruling on June 24, 2019, the petitioners had, through two senior members of their legal team Chief Chris Uche (SAN) and Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) vowed to challenge the tribunal’s decision at the Supreme Court.  Processes seen by our correspondent on Saturday showed that the petitioners filed their notice of appeal on June 26, 2019 two days after the tribunal’s decision was delivered.

The petitioners had, in their motion, which was dismissed by the tribunal, claimed that electronically transmitted the results of the disputed poll to the said central server.

INEC denied the claim, insisting that it never transmitted the results of the polls any server whatsoever, but that the results were collated and declared manually.

President Buhari and his All Progressives Congress, whose victory at the polls is being challenged by the petitioners at the tribunal, also opposed the petitioners’ request for access to the said INEC’s server.

Businessman, Wale Jana, apologises for attacking Busola Dakolo after she accused COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her at 17
[Image: 5d170047858b6.jpeg]

Wale Jana, the CEO of Sapphire Group and a member of COZA church, has apologised for bashing singer Timi Dakolo and wife, Busola Dakolo, for her explosive interview in which she accused COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her.

Wale after watching the interview, took to Instagram to defend his Pastor as well as attack Timi and his wife. He wrote

Quote:''I just watched @busoladakolo video I know the world gets emotional the moment a woman mentions that she was raped but if you will take a minute to think objectively; the oldest way a woman can try to destroy a man is to accuse him of rape. Any man is guilty of this offence in the eyes of the public until otherwise and if she has a little social status like the wife of a struggling musician like @timidakolo it makes it look credible.
Why is she doing this? Timi and wife are a pawn in a conspiracy and also because it will help him sell some records which he desperately needs to sell, they will also trend for a while, she has already opened unbroken.ng an online platform to cash in on the drama just like @esewalter and then its over!
I am a proud COZA member and @biodunfatoyinbo is my father and he has been a blessing to millions of people all over the world. This time there will be no silence and since you want war, you will have it. If @biodunfatoyinbo has been a blessing to you, its time to speak up, don't keep quiet!

@timidakolo and @busoladakolo are not saints, she was a choir member and Timi was a choir leader in church when she got pregnant with her first baby, Timi denied that they weren't having an affair and then she got pregnant the second time and that was when the church forced them to get married. This chorister was sleeping with her choir master and was a baby mama with two kids before they got married. These are morally bankrupt people and all that talk in the video will not hold water under cross examination.
Another thing that bothers me is why all the people troubling the body of christ @daddyfreeze @timidakolo@busoladakolo @chudeity all attend a particular church

Timi and Busola have a LOT of skeletons and they both live in glass houses and they are busy throwing stones. Its time to shatter this house of cards these people have built, its time to deal with cyber bullying and vague social media allegations and this couple will be the scape goats.

After being called out by celebrities and other Nigerians for his post, Wale this morning tendered an apology. Read below
Quote:There has been a lot of misunderstanding due to my earlier post and Its important to clarify that I DON'T SUPPORT RAPE! I am a father of two lovely daughters and a beautiful wife.

I am surrounded by women; Sapphire Group is made up of close to 1000 women and we have done a lot for women empowerment and will continue to do so.
I apologise to everyone my previous post has offended as it is insensitive to victims of rape. Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has also come out to refute the allegations leveled against him, it is now a legal matter and the truth will come to light.
Please accept my apologies and I will be more sensitive in the future.

Cardi B's application to trademark her catchphrase 'okurrr' is officially denied by government officials
[Image: 5d171f18099da.PNG]
Cardi B's application to catchphrase 'okurrr'  to be used mostly for merchandise has been  officially rejected.

According to Mail Online, Government officials have officially rejected her application to lay claim to the word, which is popularly pronounced with the Rs rolled.

Back in March, the 26-year-old rapper and mother of one submitted an application to catchphrase 'okurrr' including the commonly misspelled 'okurr.' Unfortunately, the US Patent and Trademark ruled that the slogan fell under the category of 'widely-used commonplace expressions.' It's a valid argument, given that the phrase has existed in minority communities for years.

They also explained that it 'is a slogan or term that does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services.'

COZA: Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo boycotts sermon, reveals next step concerning Busola Dakolo’s rape allegations

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, on Sunday morning did not take the sermon.
He, therefore, declared prayers at Abuja chapter.
This is following protest asking Pastor Fatoyinbo to step down over the rape allegations by Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola
Busola, the wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo had alleged that the COZA founder had forcefully raped her when she was young.
The mother-of-three narrated [url=https://dailypost.ng/2019/06/28/coza-pastor-biodun-fatoyinbo-raped-timi-dakolos-wife-alleges-video]how Pastor Fatoyinbo allegedly forced his way into her when she was a teenager.

Fatoyinbo, who earlier, denied the allegation, on Sunday morning said the elders of the church are on the issue.
He further instructed members of the church not to be violent and stir up prayers.
Fatoyinbo also cancelled the proposed ‘Seven Days of Glory” conference slated for 1st till July 7th in COZA.
“Thank you my members for your support. I’m the most blessed Pastor in the world.
“It took me a longtime to get here today, I dint like what I saw outside this is not what I want to put my members through
“I’m relating to my mentors, the elders of the church are on the matter. With what is going on; we would be having prayers and not “Seven Days of Glory.”

COZA member Akah Nnani asks Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, to step down immediately as Senior Pastor of the church following rape allegations
[Image: 5d1726bb9274e.jpeg]

Actor Akah Nnani who is a member of COZA, has asked the founder, Biodun Fatoyinbo to step down as senior pastor of the church following the rape allegation leveled against him by Busola Dakolo, wife of singer, Timi Dakolo. Posting the screenshot on the right on his page, Akah wrote

Quote:''This issue has been addressed by the senior pastor. Pastor has said he never raped anyone in his life. Good! Praise God. Now what next?
Dear @biodunfatoyinbo The next thing to do sir, is to step down from the position of senior pastor. But I know you know this sir and the church is in fact already making arrangements for this because anything contrary to this would be unconscionable, corrupt and anarchical.
In proper states, governments, working systems, businesses and organisations even in the circular domain, the leader in question will step down first. INNOCENT OR NOT.

The only thing I want to hear on Sunday is pastor announcing to the church that he is stepping down and not a single word more to sway the emotions of the congregation or encourage them to defend on social media or even any sermon from him. Someone else can take the word. TILL THIS WHOLE THING CLEARS AND WE CAN SEE ROAD!! But hey, Like I said, I know they will do the right thing.
Now, 'Should in case' He doesn't step down, or he preaches a sermon, or just maybe the church organisation does not know the right thing to do, then I am calling on all well meaning human beings, all well meaning Christians, truly called Pastors, to raise their voice on all social media platforms with this hashtag, #PastorStepDown and demand for the right procedure to be followed till the whole matter is resolved. On all social media platforms.

I humbly implore ALL @cozaglobalmembers to watch the entire 4 parts of @busoladakolo account with a pure and human heart. Watch with the intention to listen. See the woman speaking. SEE HER.

May we all operate in wisdom and love. Madness is not Nigeria's surname. May Nigerians be free from slavery. The truth will stand up.

By the way we need CAN and PFN to step into this matter. I believe these associations are regulatory bodies of Christian churches too. Please bring the table out in the open.

Update: FG begins Ruga settlements in Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Kaduna, other states
[Image: 5d173fe3937e4.JPG]
Despite the public outcry against the planned establishment of Ruga settlements across the country, the Federal Government is set to commence the pilot phase of the project  in Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Kaduna and seven other states.

According to a report by Punch, the  execution of the project  would start in 11 states including Sokoto, Nasarawa, Kogi, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger. Documents obtained at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development showed that all was set for the implementation of the initiative.

According to senior officials of the ministry, the Federal  Government is determined to go ahead with the  project, notwithstanding the public outcry, particularly in the South.

Quote:“The pilot states for its implementation are Sokoto, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi, Taraba, Katsina, Plateau, Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger. They are actually 11 in number and the governors of these states are coming to the ministry to learn  how the Ruga settlements will be implemented,” a senior official at the FMARD, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The source  added, “These are the states that have fully shown their  interest. But unfortunately, people are talking about this as if the Federal Government is planning to grab land in the states. That’s not true. The plan is mainly for these states that are ready and the Federal Government had a discussion with the governors concerned. Some of the governors came here and they promised to provide land because they have seen the benefits they will derive from the initiative. It is not that the Federal Government wants to invade the states, no!”  When asked whether the government would go ahead with the initiative despite its rejection by many other states, the official replied, “Why not? Of course, the government will go ahead with the programme, particularly in states that are willing to have it. For states that are not interested, no problem.”

On Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary, FMARD, Mohammed Umar,  said  aside from the  states where the pilot phase of the programme would start, many other states had expressed their interest in the scheme. The project is said to be part of the solution to the incessant clashes between farmers and herders.

Umar had said, “The Ruga settlement will attract a lot of investment to Nigeria and it is our belief that in the next five years, each Ruga settlement will provide nothing less than 2,000 employment opportunities. We are collaborating with the cattle breeders associations in Nigeria.”

Nigerian writer recounts how being a virgin saved her from been raped
[Image: 5d174d76cc3f2.PNG]

In the wake of Busola Dakolo's rape allegation against COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, writer, Yetunde Oduwole has taken to her Instagram page to recount how being a virgin saved her from getting raped.

Read below

Quote:RAPE. Ask me about it. I have smelt it. I was at its brink! You might not know the brain torture and the emotional damage it does to the victims, well, I do!

On the fateful day, I laid down helpless & waited for the worst. I had been battered for attempting to fight back. My clothes had been pulled and soaked in a bucket of water. I had to surrender. I couldn’t over-power the predator. I was 18. I was a virgin. I must have screamed ‘Please don’t hurt me! I beg you in the name of God! I’m a virgin! I have never done this before!” a million times. I kept screaming that until my mouth could utter no more words. As he pulled down his trousers and made to thrust his member inside of me, I screamed with what seemed like my last breath. “Please don’t do this to me! I am a virgin...I am a virgin....” my voice was now cracked and faint.

He proceeded to thrust but couldn’t go through. “So you are actually a virgin? I thought you were lying!” I nodded to affirm. He got up. “I will dry up your clothes so you could leave. I hate virgins!” A divine intervention?? I couldn’t believe my luck!! “But....” he continued, “You would have to make me cum. If you don’t know how to do that, I will teach you” I hate to recall how the bastard went about that. I was bruised and torn. It took me several years to learn that sex could be enjoyed, and not a weapon.

Seems predators always leave scary warnings in the end. He warned me never to tell anyone what happened. He threatened fire and hell if I did. I agreed I wouldn’t, and I ended up not telling a soul....until many years after.

I shuddered and shivered for several years anytime I remembered. It was such a gory episode to recall. It takes strength to recount it. It’s not an easy tale to tell, especially in an African setting where people judge you, blame you for letting it happen to you, and even ask you for evidence!

Thank you Busola Dakolo for helping me bring this out of my innermost. This is like a renewal to most victims. And hey, your truth is yours. It may not be their truth, but it is yours, and it glitters! Continue to own that truth. I stand with you. I stand with justice #istandwithbusoladakolo

Ese Walter, the lady who in 2013 revealed that she allegedly had sexual relations with clergyman and founder of COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo, says she is very proud of her crazy self.

Recall that when Ese released her tell all statement of how the clergyman allegedly manipulated her sexually, many bashed her for accusing a ''man of God'', and termed her crazy.

With the explosive interview released yesterday, June 28, in which singer Timi Dakolo's wife accused Fatoyinbo of raping her multiple times, many Nigerians stated that Ese has now been ''vindicated''.

Reacting to comments from Nigerians, Ese via her Facebook page, wrote

Quote:
Here’s to the crazy ones.

The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Two Arrested By SSS At COZA

Quote:JUST IN: Rape Scandal: Two arrested as hooded SSS officials storm COZA

June 30, 2019
Samuel Ogundipe and Azeezat Adedigba

Two unidentified men have been taken into custody by security agents after they turned up at a planned protest outside the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Abuja.

The church has come under nationwide interest since one of its members came out Friday to accuse Biodun Fatoyinbo, its lead preacher, of rape.

Busola Dakolo, the wife of the musician Timi, said she was raped by Mr Fatoyinbo at age 16 in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Mr Fatoyinbo has denied the allegations and threatened a lawsuit.

A large segment of Nigerians on social media dismissed the preacher’s explanation and stood in solidarity with Mrs Dakolo, now a mother of three.

The rape allegation led to a call for a protest at the COZA headquarters in Abuja.

Two of the male protesters were driven away in a black Mercedes Benz C200 saloon belonging to an unidentified security agency shortly before 8:00 a.m, according to witnesses.

PREMIUM TIMES has not been able to identify the agency responsible for the arrest.

Two witnesses outside the church told PREMIUM TIMES they were angry that security agencies had started clamping down on citizens even though the protest was yet to begin.

The protest was planned for 8:30 a.m. by social media organisers.

The church has seen an increase in security measure over the weekend, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

As protesters began to arrive, more security personnel were also deployed at the church’s headquarters in Abuja’s Guzape neighbourhood.

At least 30 police officers were seen around the church. About 20 Civil Defence men were also seen scattered between the church’s junction on Murtala Muhammed Way and the church’s premises, a distance of about 1.2 kilometres.

Hooded men from the State Security Service (SSS) were also everywhere outside the church, a presence some of the protesters said was aimed at intimidating them.

About a dozen soldiers also arrived at the church at about 8:40 a.m.

At the church’s entrance, security agents have joined church security officials to conduct a thorough search of visitors and members of the congregation who wanted to go inside the auditorium ahead of service commencement at 9:00 a.m.

Both men and women were asked to leave all their belongings outside. Only mobile phones and the Holy Bible were allowed inside, PREMIUM TIMES observed.

Members of the congregation who decried the stringent measure as unnecessarily problematic.

“I have been attending this church since 2013 when we were still using the Thisday Dome in Jabi,” a female member said. “This is too much today.”

She, however, said the measure might be necessary to prevent Mr Fatoyinbo’s detractors from having their way.

“People have been trying to blackmail our pastor for a long time,” she told PREMIUM TIMES.

But two protesters interviewed by PREMIUM TIMES ahead of the protest said they were here to demand accountability from Mr Fatoyinbo, who has faced at least two separate allegations of misconduct since 2013.

Woman opens up to her "big bro" that she was raped and impregnated by his friend. His reaction will shock you (screenshots)

In the wake of the rape scandal involving COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, a woman found the courage to open up to her older brother that she was raped by a friend he brought home but her brother's reaction to it was totally unexpected.

The lady reminded her "big bro" how the friend he brought home forcefully had sex with her in 2012. She said when she told him shortly after the rape, he didn't fight for her. Instead he invited the friend to the house again. When he drove her to school, her rapist was in the car with them.

Eventually, she discovered she was pregnant from the rape and had to abort it.

As she laid her mind bare the her brother in a text, expecting him to do right by her after so many years, she got her heart shattered again as the same big bro slammed her for getting raped. He called her a "shameless idiot" and a "fool".

The woman shared the screenshots and said this is the reason why women refuse to speak out.

"Fairytale books should be trashed from children's library" - Facebook user says and explains why

A Facebook user has suggested that Fairytale books be removed from children's libraries.

She went on to explain why it's best to wait for children, especially girls, to grow older before they are allowed to read such books.

She wrote: "
Honestly I feel all fairytale books should be trashed from kiddies library. Little girls have no business reading about a man who will climb into their castle with their hairs nor a frog that will kiss them to become a prince. Let them read about romance when their brains are fully matured biko.
What happened to science books and easiest ways to understand mathematics and history and politics and how to manage money, how to build an entrepreneurial spirit, how to build a business from scratch, self confidence for pre teens, how to take care of the elderly, how to treat people, why bullying is bad, etc.
Fairytales are why a female student will stop school to follow a Male student/musician around like a headless chicken...its why they think they are not enough and need a Male figure whether as spiritual father or glucose guardian.

If you’re not corrupt, declare your assets - PDP tells Buhari
[Image: 5d1747b918e4d.JPG]

The Peoples Democratic Party has challenged President Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to publicly declare their assets to prove to Nigerians and the world that they are not corrupt.

The main opposition party also asked the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to make public their assets to convince Nigerians.
The PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, in a statement on Friday said,

Quote:“We are of the opinion that President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, should declare openly their assets to allow Nigerians to further see how much wealth they have acquired since joining government.
“We believe laying claim to sainthood is easy as Buhari and others have been doing all along, but Nigerians deserve to see beyond whatever the government forces down their throats. By making public declaration of their assets, Nigerians will be able to see better and judge accordingly.
“By making public their assets, Nigerians will see how many cattle in 2019 had been added to what Buhari had in 2015. Blowing hot and cold at the same time is not the hallmark of a leader with clean hands.”
He warned that should Buhari and others fail to make public declaration of their assets, further aspersions would be cast on the anti-graft efforts of the present administration. He alleged that rather than build on the innovations introduced by the PDP administrations to end graft, Buhari appeared ''directionless and uncoordinated to stop corruption in the country.  ''

He said, “We urge Buhari and other top government officials to be more coordinated and exhibit transparency not only in fighting graft but in their dealings with Nigerians, because, no matter how fast lies have moved, in a flight, truth will catch up.”

Mother and daughter hacked to death over witchcraft allegation
[Image: 5d17e4d2281b3.jpg]
An Indian mother and daughter were hacked to death by three men over allegations of witchcraft in the country’s remote tribal-dominated east.

According to police reports, the 50-year-old woman and her young daughter were beaten by their neighbours before being attacked with knives on Wednesday night in West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand state.

Police said the victims’ family was embroiled in a land dispute with one of the accused, who used black magic allegations as a cover-up to commit the crime.

“One of the accused told the villagers that the women were witches and responsible for deaths and diseases in the village. They attacked the women in the night and killed them brutally,” district police chief Indrajit Mahatha told AFP.

The woman’s husband filed a complaint against the accused who are on the run, he said.  More than 2,000 people many of them women were killed in India on suspicion of witchcraft between 2000 and 2012, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. Some states, including Jharkhand, have introduced special laws to try to curb crimes against people accused of witchcraft and superstition.

According to reports, belief in witchcraft and the occult remains widespread in impoverished rural communities across India. There are also occasional reports of human sacrifices. Earlier this month police in northeastern Assam state said they suspected a case of human sacrifice after finding the headless body of a woman near a Hindu temple.

Deportations of undocumented migrants to begin after July 4 - President Trump announces
[Image: 5d18537884bca.JPG]
US President Donald Trump has said that the deportation of undocumented migrants will begin after July 4.

“We will be removing large numbers of people starting sometime after July 4,” Trump said as additional report said that US Immigration authorities had earlier announced plan to launch a sweeping effort to deport recently arrived undocumented families.

The operation is expected to target up to 2,000 families facing deportation orders in as many as 10 US cities, including Houston, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles, according to a media report . A spokesman for the US  Immigration and Customs Enforcement declined to comment, saying,

Quote:“Due to law-enforcement sensitivities and the safety and security of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, the agency will not offer specific details related to enforcement operations before the conclusion of those actions.”

The Acting Director of ICE, Mark Morgan, said the agency would target for deportation families that have received a removal order from a US immigration court.  Morgan said ICE wanted to deport undocumented families who had recently arrived in the US to discourage more Central Americans from arriving.

Trump had tweeted, before the formal kickoff of his 2020 re-election campaign, that ICE would begin removing “the millions” of undocumented immigrants in the US.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the country’s top Democrat, responded, saying, “The president’s new threat of a mass deportation dragnet is an act of utter malice and bigotry, designed solely to inject fear in our communities.”
