Ex-soldier who served with Prince Harry is 'strangled’ in street in front of 20 witnesses and they did nothing

An ex-soldier who served with Prince Harry was "strangled" in front of about 20 witnesses and no one did a thing to help him.

James Wharton, 32, says he is "disgusted" no one called 999 as he was "strangled" by a stranger in an unprovoked attack. He said the witnesses did nothing and left him to fend for himself.

He said it happened after he looked at the stranger "the wrong way" as he walked to work at 9am.

Recalling the terrifying attack James said: "What is wrong with society? I’m disgusted nobody gave a f***. There were easily 20 people in the street all around me. Not one came to help me. Not one. Even the window cleaner at one of the shops didn’t fuss himself with me being strangled in front of him on the floor."

He revealed that his assailant even continued attacking him when he was on the phone to West Midlands Police and ran off before officers arrived.

James said: "Apparently I looked at him the wrong way. Where I come from, if you see some behaving aggressively in the street at passersby, you’re liable to look at them a bit funny.

James said he walked away as the man hurled insults at him. Things then got violent when James took a picture of the man on his phone to pass to police.

He added: "I took a picture of him because I was sure as hell going to report what I’d seen and had to endure. I was thrown to the floor, my phone was taken off me, he slapped my glasses off my face, he strangled me."

James, who was among Britain's first openly gay soldiers, made the headlines in 2013 when he revealed Prince Harry saved him from an homophobic attack involving six fellow soldiers.

He said he fled the homophobic soldiers and found Harry, who was then his tank commander. He told Harry he feared he was going to be "murdered" by his attackers.

He says the Prince told him: "Right, I’m going to sort this s*** out once and for all."

And Harry kept to his words. He warned the gang they’d be disciplined if they carried on with their threats.

Federal workers threaten to embark on strike over alleged breach of public service rules

Senior civil Servants in the country have threatened to go on strike over alleged breach of public service rules and non-implementation of agreements entered into with the management of National Insurance Commission, NAICOM.

The senior workers under the aegis of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, have specifically given a seven-day ultimatum to the NAICOM Commissioner for Insurance to address all their grievances or risk industrial action by their association.

In a letter dated June 26, 2019 by the Secretary-General of ASCSN, Isaac Ojemhenke, the association said,

Quote:“We are constrained to inform you that at a meeting of the ASCSN members which was held in Abuja on the 24th  June, 2019, it was unanimously agreed that the Management of the National Insurance Commission should be issued a 7 day ultimatum for it to implement all agreements it had reached with the union and also comply with the provisions of other relevant Public Service Rules on the issues in perspective following which an industrial action will be kick-started in the Commission.
“It is necessary to state that ASCSN wishes to be absolved of blames when the strike action commences as a result of the failure of the management to meet the union’s demands within the seven days window opened for it to do the needful.
“It is also necessary to inform you that this letter has been endorsed to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, The Director General, Department of State Security, The Inspector General of Police, Nigeria Police Force and The Chairman Governing Board, National Insurance Commission for their information and necessary action.”
ASCSN which constitutes Council I of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Councils, JNPSNC, and also a frontline affiliate member of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, of Nigeria, said it was constrained to intimate the NAICOM management of its preparedness to resume the industrial action in the NAICOM as result of “flagrant breach of the Public Service Rules and the collective agreement reached by parties on the 26th  of September, 2017. This agreement was observed in the breach.”

ASCSN stated that the terms of agreement the necessary parties signed at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment on the 28th  August, 2018, after the union suspended its three days warning strike action included activation of the NAICOM portal, bridging the gap between senior manager and below vis-à-vis the directorate cadre and the cascading of fuel and diesel allowances. Other agreements were the promotion exercise for 2018, conclusion on the on-going investigation of ADHR, condition of service for NAICOM staff and non-victimization clause for workers on account of their participation in the industrial action.

The union however, stated that “We are sad to observe that after about two years, when the initial agreement was signed i.e. the 26th  of September, 2017, the Management of the Commission has blatantly refused to implement the terms of the agreement in spite of several appeals made to it by relevant stakeholders, including the Union.

How We Smashed Robbery Gang In Ikire – OPC (Photo)
User Avatar Forum: News

Osogbo The leadership of the Oodua Peoples Congress in Osun State, on Wednesday, narrated how its men in Ikire, headquarters of the Irewole Local Government Area of the state, smashed a gang of four robbers terrorising residents of the town and commuters on the Ile-Ife-Ibadan Expressway.

According to the OPC, the suspected robbers were arrested behind the Ikire High Court, off the expressway, after they had allegedly robbed some residents of the area. Speaking to our correspondent on the incident, the state Coordinator of the OPC, Adedeji Aladesawe, explained that a member of the group in Ikire, Akinlade Oke, led the operation that culminated in the arrest of three members of the gang and a cleric said to be providing spiritual support for the gang.

Aladesawe said one of the suspected robbers was arrested while trying to escape from the scene of a robbery, adding that he later led members of the OPC to their hideout. Giving details of how the feat was achieved, the OPC member, who effected the arrest of the first suspect, Oke, said he received a distress call from one of his neighbours, Toyin Ilori, around 2am on Monday.

He stated, “I received a call from a neighbour, whose house was attacked. Our area is situated at the back of the Ikire High Court. Before those robbers got to her house, they had attacked two other houses. They were armed with guns, cutlasses and charms. I pleaded with one of my elder brothers, who was at home, to join me. We immediately proceeded to the scene.

“Two members of the gang had gained entrance into Ilori’s house, while one of them was outside monitoring the area. Immediately the one outside saw us approaching, he alerted the others and they took to their heels. “We chased after them and I was able to apprehend one of them. We both fell into a ditch but I held on to him. I tied him up and interrogated him.

He told me where the other members were hiding. At that point, some members of the vigilante group in Ikire had arrived and they joined me. Together, we went to the house where the other gang members were hiding. “Two of them hid in the ceiling but their spiritualist could not run, because one of his leg is bad.

We arrested all of them and handed them over to the police. They were moved to the Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo on Tuesday.”

Police stop Unclad scooter driver The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI, Mr Leye Oyebade, confirmed the arrest of the suspects during the South West Regional Security Summit held in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Bumi Thomas, Nigerian, Faces Deportation In UK. Given 14 Days To Leave
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Musician born in UK given 14 days to leave the country

Bumi Thomas has been told she is illegal despite being born in Glasgow and spending most of her life in the UK

A musician born in the UK faces being kicked out of her home because of a little-known change to Home Office legislation.

Bumi Thomas was given 14 days to leave after being told she is illegal despite living here most of her life. The rising jazz star grew up thinking she was British, attended university in the UK and has legally worked and paid taxes since graduation.

However because her parents are Nigerian, she now faces deportation and being separated from her family and friends. The situation bears a chilling resemblance to the Windrush scandal, which saw many people deported in error after decades of life in the UK.

Ms Thomas was born in Glasgow in June 1983 to parents who came over from Africa in the early 1970s. In January 1983, Margaret Thatcher’s Tory government changed the British Nationality Act that removed the automatic right of citizenship for children of parents from former colonies.

The singer’s parents should have registered her but were unaware they needed to do so. In a twist of irony, Ms Thomas’ elder sister Kemi was born one year before the Act and has always had legal status.

The musician, 36, believes she is a victim of an increasingly hostile attitude by the Home Office to migrants in the UK. She told the Mail on Sunday: ‘My parents came here at the end of the Windrush era. ‘I had a National Insurance number, I had my birth certificate, I’d got a driving licence, a bank account, I went to college.

‘At no point during that process was there any indication I was doing anything incorrectly.’ Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she continued: ‘I have never had any question in my mind that I’m British and Scottish. ‘And that’s something I’m proud of. But according to a piece of paper, suddenly what I think about myself isn’t valid. It’s an illusion.’

At the age of three-and-a-half, Ms Thomas and her family returned to Nigeria. She came back to the UK as a teenager, thinking she automatically had dual British-Nigerian nationality.

After graduating with a degree in fine arts from Bath Spa University she began to work and moved to London, where she now lives with her sister.

It was only at the age of 25 when she went to apply for her UK passport that she was told she was never registered as British. The Home Office was told she had technically overstayed in an illegal capacity.

Ms Thomas said her case was classed as ‘complex’ and she was told to use human rights legislation rather than immigration laws to fight it. That marked the start of an ‘exhausting and expensive’ decade-long legal battle.

Two weeks ago she received a letter from the Home Office saying her application for permanent residency had been unsuccessful. She was given 14 days to appeal or face detention without notice.

Ms Thomas has since lodged an appeal and is awaiting a court hearing. The musician, who has performed at the Royal Festival Hall and London Palladium, continued: ‘My parents had no idea of the law change.

‘This was in an analogue age, where correspondence was written and there was no social media.’ She added: ‘When I was told I wasn’t British, I was shocked and devastated.

My soul and my spirit were screaming. ‘Nigeria is foreign to me and I am a foreigner there. I’ve been in the UK for 18 years.’ Ms Thomas’ grandfather came to the UK to study medicine and she said her parents were also given a warm welcome as part of the Windrush generation – when people from former colonies came to the UK to rebuild the country after the Second World War.

She said their treatment was in stark contrast to the way the Home Office was now treating her and thousands of others who ‘fall through the cracks of the system.’ She added: ‘There is a stigma attached to being an immigrant these days.

‘At no point did I ever think I was doing anything wrong. ‘When my parents came over they were welcomed but now it is different. There are people who have lived in the UK for 30/40/50 years facing hostility.’

Ms Thomas continued: ‘The Home Office right now has a hostile environment policy, a set of administrative and legislative measures that are designed to make staying in the UK as difficult as possible for people like me.’

The musician should be making her US debut at the Ford Theatre in Los Angeles in October but the immigration issues mean that is now in doubt. She has launched a gofundme page to help towards legal costs, which are already at £7,000 and rising.

Ms Thomas’s lawyer, Fahad Ahmed, said she missed out on automatic citizenship by a matter of months and added: ‘Courts take a less harsh view than the Home Office, and if someone can prove their life is here, the courts will use their discretion.’

The British Nationality Act 1948 gave citizens of British colonies the right to settle in the UK. Since they had the legal right to come to the UK, they never needed nor were given any documents upon entry. In what later became known as the Windrush scandal, many were wrongly detained, denied legal rights or deported in administrative blunders.

The Home Office is set to pay up to £200 million in compensation to people whose lives were damaged by their mistaken classification as illegal immigrants. The Home Office has been contacted by Metro.co.uk about Ms Thomas’ case.

Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to remark credited to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II that Nigeria was on the threshold of bankruptcy, following unfavourable economic policies by the Federal Government.

Frank said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC, government has driven “100 million Nigerians into abject poverty.”

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had said this during the ongoing 3rd National Treasury Workshop organized by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation holding in Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.

Sanusi advised President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to cancel subsidy in petroleum and electricity tariffs if the economy must stabilize.

The monarch lamented that for 30 years, successive governments have had this project called petroleum subsidy, insisting that this is the right time to stop it so as to save the nation’s economy.
Reacting, Frank commended the Emir of Kano for his timely warning over the precarious state of the nation’s economy.
In a statement he signed, Frank also called on other traditional rulers and religious leaders to emulate the Emir, who was known to speak the truth “even at his own peril – by speaking out to save the country from imminent collapse.”

According to Frank: “This is a Government that has failed to implement a new minimum wage for its workforce after Buhari hurriedly signed the minimum wage bill into law in April to save face on May Day. Buhari has breached the minimum wage act by refusing to implement it.

“This is a Government that has failed to operationalize financial autonomy for state judiciary and legislatures which Buhari signed into law in June 2018 following the last constitutional amendment exercise.

“This is a Government that has failed to name ministers and key aides to the President after over a month of being sworn into office.

“In many states of the federation, full workers’ salaries have not been paid for upwards of three years. Is it not benumbing that the newly inaugurated government in Ogun State had to secure a N7billion bank loan to pay May salaries?”

The former APC spokesperson stated that” having failed in the last four years to meet the aspirations of Nigerians for humane, purposeful and progressive governance, the present administration has resorted to churning out lies in order to keep Nigerians in perpetual bondage.”

Frank further urged Nigerians not to be carried away by Buhari’s promise, during his inauguration, to lift 100million Nigerians out of poverty, saying, “already, Buhari’s rudderless and overly corrupt administration has driven over a 100 million Nigerians into abject poverty and countless others to their early graves through suicide and banditry.”

He called on international development partners to prevail on Buhari to be more responsive to the genuine needs of the people in order to save Nigerians from the current state of avoidable and unnecessary hardship in the land.

Governor Okorocha, wife carted away 67 vehicles - Imo task force alleges

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQAcXQNMyN4jsQraPBidk4...DyUcku5KJW]

Chairman of the Imo State Task Force on Recovery of Government Assets, Jasper Ndubuaku, has alleged that the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha and members of his family carted away 67 vehicles belonging to the state.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday June 26th, Ndubuaku said that Okorocha’s ADC took away five vehicles while his driver went home with one Prado Jeep.  He lamented that other goods carted away from government house, ministries and parastatals included generating sets, chairs, television sets, kitchen utensils, buddings and cutleries all valued at over N50 billion
.
Giving a breakdown of what was allegedly taken by the outgone administration, Ndubuaku said that the 27 local government chairmen, all the 30 commissioners and special advisers went away with government property.

He alleged that the former governor went home with all functional vehicles in Government House including bullet proof cars, back-up cars and outriders motorcycles, while his wife went home with one bullet proof vehicle. Ndubuaku said that all the 27 payloaders for construction and 27 graders bought by the Ikedi Ohakim administration were carted away by the Okorocha administration. The chairman expressed shock and alleged that it was one of Okorocha’s sisters, who got the contract to equip each of the offices at N5 million each, all the offices were stripped bare.

Ndubuaku said

Quote:“The looting spree was unprecedented. It was as if government never existed as all paraphernalia of government were carted away. Even the 150 transformers bought by Okorocha for electioneering stunt all disappeared to thin air.” “Some of them told us that the cars were accidented somewhere in Abuja and Jos and we have told them to take us there.”

He said that all the alleged looted property and their custodians have been identified, stressing that the essence of the briefing was to warn them to bring the property back before members of the task force swoop on them. He said that if the advice were not heeded, government would have no option but go to their houses and take anything insight, including criminalising their action and prosecuting them accordingly.

I spent only N1.2bn on funerals not N2.3bn – Bauchi ex-gov, Mohammed Abubakar tells successor Bala Mohammed

Former governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, has denied claims he spent N2.3 billion to organise funerals for some of the indigenes of the state. The former governor said he only spent N1.2 billion on funeral materials and not N2.3 billion as alleged. Abubakar said this in a statement released by his media aide, Mukhtar Jibril.

The former governor was reacting to claims made by his successor, Bala Mohammed, that he spent N2.3 billion on funeral materials in five months.

Abubakar in a statement said the purchase for the Funeral materials passed through “due process” and awarded to qualified contractors.

Quote:“In response to media reports on the issue of mahogany and shrouds procured for burials, we want to state that this is a practice inherited by the government of Abubakar from its predecessors. Considering its significance and impact on the people, especially the bereaved, it decided to continue with it.
“However, the project, like any other of the same magnitude, was awarded to qualified contractors. Based on the available verifiable record, N1,270,743,520 had been expended since its inception and not the exaggerated figure of N2.3 billion mischievously posted on the social media by critics. We urge the good people of the state to disregard this insinuation as an act of desperation by elements of retrogression.
Besides, every contract awarded was subjected to the scrutiny and appraisal of the due process agency in accordance with public procurement law, contract agreement, payment of tax due on such contracts and other requirements''.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 27TH JUNE.

BORN INTO THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9).

Jesus said, “...Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). The Kingdom of God is the kingdom of light; it’s the kingdom of life. And until a man is born again, he’s not a part of the life or light of the Kingdom; he abides in darkness

This is the reason Jesus said in John 3:7, “…Ye must be born again.” The one who isn’t born again is in Satan’s domain, and can’t see God’s Kingdom. He can’t even understand it, for He’s not in fellowship with God.

It doesn’t matter that two people are identical twins; if one is born again and the other isn’t, one is in the kingdom of light, and the other one is in the kingdom of darkness. For anyone to come into the light of God, have His life and nature, and become one with Him, he must be born again.

Being born again, Colossians 1:13 says God has “...delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. ” From the time that Adam sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, darkness came into this world, and man became alienated from the life of God; completely cut off from the light of God. But the moment you proclaimed Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, you received eternal life and woke up in the kingdom of light, in oneness with God!

Our theme verse shows your present location: God’s marvellous light. Now you walk in the light, as He is in the light. His light has become your light, just as the psalmist prophesied: “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light ” (Psalm 36:9). Hallelujah!

Being born into God’s Kingdom means you’ve been brought out of sin, sickness, disease, depression, poverty, frustrations and everything associated with Satan and darkness, into God’s eternal glory—where you reign in life by grace, through righteousness. No darkness at all. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I’m a new creation in Christ Jesus, born with the nature of God in my spirit. I’ve been born into the Kingdom of light; therefore, I shine and reign gloriously in life, by grace, through righteousness. My journey in life is one of glory, triumph, success, prosperity, and blessed assurance. Hallelujah!

27TH JUNE.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank You for enlightening my heart with the revelations of Your Word today. I am synchronized with the Spirit, knowing and walking in Your perfect will for me. Through Your Spirit, I walk worthy of You unto all pleasing, fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of Your Word.

Now, there is no information that hashish use results in chronic mental disorders, but the complexity from the human brain causes it to be hard to fully grasp if cannabinoids could in its place be effective for mental health problems. When drank in significant doses, weed might lead to “psychotic symptoms”, especially in inclined individuals with the or ancestors of thought illness. But, a large number of affected individuals with schizophrenia, paranoia, bipolar disorders, together with other mental illnesses have been self-medicating with pot for years.

Medical practitioners in the US who also prescribe copious amounts of clinical cannabis document that very very little of it travels to patients using severe emotional conditions-with ptsd being the most widespread accepted ailment. Psychiatrists generally advise in opposition to cannabis utilize, while some take on it as the complementary treatment method for clients with particular symptoms or possibly diagnoses. Various patients article that marijuana relieves a selection of their symptoms, the clinical reading is still bad, and many scientific tests on the very worthwhile use of hashish for subconscious health conditions are generally not of a methodologically high quality.

WEED IN PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC PRACTICES water pipe tobacco buy

The very role weed plays for current psychotherapeutic practices is really a complex 1. Many persons already look a sense of judgment surrounding all their mental affliction, with pot only incorporating fuel towards the fire. Professional medical personnel connected with any stage have a need to protect patients’ private information, and are generally not imagined to judge patients’ lifestyles. In contrast, a fluent discussion with cannabis make use of even before starting off sessions with an all new therapist is recommended that will help clarify every single other’s job regarding the put.

Therapy should really be an opportunity to decide to put oneself in the opened in the company of any caring qualified. Any physical therapist worth their whole salt has to be open to being familiar with your partnership with marijuana before making every judgment calling. Especially simply because cannabis is lots safer than any other drugs men and women turn to much more distress, brain healthcare industry experts would be good not to blacken the supplement outright.

In contrast, the experienced therapist themselves contain a tough function. It’s possible, for example , which will THC 2 causing anyone to experience good anxiety, or even that most of their chronic marijuana use is attempting to keep them by fulfilling their valuable day to day accountabilities. Again, it may be all about connecting.

CANNABIS-ASSISTED HYPNOSIS water pipe clearance

It is worth mentioning which psychedelic psychotherapies are becoming recognised by the controlled community. Herbal products and elements like ketamine, MDMA, ayahuasca, and wonders mushrooms have been tested since therapeutic brokers against light or significant mental circumstances. Cannabinoids are definitely not psychedelics in a very strict feeling, yet within countries everywhere cannabis will be legal, served psychotherapy trips under the involving cannabinoids turn out to be offered. As an illustration, some Us states and europe offer cannabis-assisted psychotherapy approximately $350, then it a new driver is required for legal reasons to return you actually home.

In relation to mental health issues, each and every illness requires exceptional care together with treatment. Actually that cannabinoids may change different problems in different ways. Let us look into most of the research to the developing purpose of hashish in psychological healthcare.

ADDRESSING THE SIDE REGARDING THC

It may be well-known that will THC can certainly make people feel more enjoyable, less exhausted, and in an even better overall disposition. Unfortunately, THC can also cause some unwanted side effects, particularly inside inexperienced or perhaps sensitive clients. THC can trigger panic and monomanía at increased doses. Intriguingly, CBD will work at eliminating some of these harmful psychotropic side effects by reducing THC’s power to bind having CB1 cannabinoid receptors.

Although CBD is usually gaining an increasing number of traction in terms of future treatment plans for unconscious disorders, THC displays effectiveness in its private right-especially related to bipolar issues. These situations involve cycles of maniacal high energy, changing with times of very low feelings and depressive episodes. Weed use is in fact higher throughout bipolar sufferers, probably given that they use it to ease depression as well as come down out of manic symptoms as well. The average biphasic a result of cannabinoids-where numerous doses generate different influences (ie. relaxing vs . exceptional effects)-seems to well for those patients on this condition. smoking water pipe

About, and even though promising stories, studies for patients by using bipolar disorder or maybe schizophrenia working with cannabis have got yielded a number of pretty undetermined findings, inside gauging the particular medical efficiency of THC, and its certain use scenarios. Studies performed observe weed use was basically associated with a great deal better neurocognitive performance in topics with bipolar support groups, but the complete opposite was in the schizophrenic subjects.

THC AND PTSD

CB1 pain are extensive throughout the mental faculties, and recent neuroimaging techniques have established increased CB1 receptors with multiple neural regions connected with post-traumatic stress disorder. Cannabinoids affect the hippocampus, an area your brain in which plays a role in understanding and storage. This area is extremely important for panic disorders like PTSD because it enhances the accessories of imminent danger and safe practices.

The position of cannabinoids in learning process related to associated risk and safeness indicates this cannabis may be effective versus anxiety and also PTSD indications. The endocannabinoid system seems involved in the extinquishing of aversive memories, along with both THC and CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT have been proven to facilitate removing the another fear reply. glass bong wholesale

Millions of individuals with panic attacks report of which cannabis presents relaxation, calmness, and a chilled effect. PTSD patients especially report the fact that cannabis can help them with lack of sleep, anxiety, in addition to mood swings. Yet, even at this point the stories on THC efficacy happen to be varied. Certain research suggests cannabis employ alone doesn't appear to produce long-term healing from anxiety conditions or PTSD, yet some other studies declare that cannabis may possibly play many role within the proper treatment. Basically, little is considered about the a result of cannabis over the natural restoration from anxiety attacks and PTSD.

CBD IN ADDITION TO SCHIZOPHRENIA

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT has been in a position to treat regarding schizophrenia around controlled specialized medical trials, through results akin to approved antipsychotic drugs, adequate less uncomfortable side effects. Because of its non-psychotropic nature, CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT can be tried out more easily as compared with THC with regard to psychiatric ailments. Research ensures that CBD may well be effective just as one additional cure for schizophrenia, catalysing critically reduced psychotic symptoms on patients who have received some sort of cannabidiol procedure.

Studies additionally showed which will CBD may well improve mastering and recollection for those utilizing cognitive impairments, but its usefulness in strengthening cognition for schizophrenia can't be fully examined due to not enough clinical research. However , CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT has been shown to further improve cognition within multiple analyses of disadvantages with preclinical models of schizophrenia, Alzheimer's problem, meningitis, plus brain ischemia.

The owner of a supermarket in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state became the hero after a robbery at his supermarket.

According to a report by a Facebook user, Ban Ifj OsisiOkhumu, the event occurred yesterday evening.

It happened when the owner of a supermarket while sitting in his SUV outside his supermarket, noticed that the supermarket was being robbed.

The robbers later escaped the scene in a tricycle popularly referred to as Keke NAPEP.

The supermarket owner, on noticing the escape, then engaged the fleeing robbers in hot pursuit in his SUV.

When he eventually caught up with the robbers, he rammed his SUV into them.

Immediately they left happily, he started his SUV engine and gave them a hot chase.   T.Y Danjuma Worth $1.2bn, Owns International Hotels – Bloomberg
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 06-26-2019, 09:35 PM - No Replies

United States-based financial data media house, Bloomberg, says a former Minister of Defence, Lt.Gen Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), is worth an estimated $1.2bn (N432bn).

This is the first time Danjuma’s net worth would be made public.

Danjuma was mentioned in the Panama Papers in 2017 among prominent Nigerians that operated foreign accounts and had foreign companies while holding public office.

The retired general was also among global personalities found to maintain secret accounts, operated with codes, with the Swiss branch of banking giant, HSBC.

According to Bloomberg’s latest report, Danjuma owns not less than 30 properties worldwide some of which include hotels, luxury apartments and others.

Bloomberg said in a report that Danjuma had also acquired the ‘Kings Arms Hotel’, a 300-year-old inn next to London’s Hampton Court Palace, once the home of King Henry VIII.

It’s set to open soon after refurbishment, with rooms costing about 250 pounds ($318) a night.

The report read in part, “In this most English of settings, it’s fitting the owner is a retired military man still referred to as “General.” But for Theophilus Danjuma, this is just one investment in a network of assets that span at least three continents.

“The 80-year-old Nigerian is worth $1.2bn, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with his family office managing a portion of that wealth, often through low-key holdings such as the 14-room hotel.”

Hannatu Gentles, the second daughter of the retired general, confirmed to Bloomberg in an interview that the property was indeed bought by the family and would bear the ‘Danjuma’ name.

She said they paid 2.4m pounds (N1.09bn) for the hotel.

Gentles said redevelopment work was expected to end in March, filings show, but the inn’s age and protected status resulted in higher costs and delays.

“This is the first, and will possibly be the last, listed building we’ve worked on,” Gentles said. “It’s taken longer than we wanted, but our name is attached to the building and we want to be proud of our work. It’s been a hard slog.”

Danjuma’s new venture is far removed from civil war and deepwater oil fields, the spheres where he amassed his power and fortune.

In 2006, his South Atlantic Petroleum Ltd. sold almost half its contractor rights for a section off Nigeria’s coast to a state-backed Chinese firm for $1.8bn.

The ex-minister was awarded the block in 1998 by the regime of former dictator and fellow army officer Sani Abacha, making him one of a handful of Nigerians made extraordinarily wealthy from the country’s energy reserves.

“Basically, these people got winning lottery tickets,” said Antony Goldman, founder of West Africa-focused ProMedia Consulting. “At the time, you had a government desperate for credibility that was isolated internationally.” Danjuma was “someone who’s not really a politician, who is respected in business and in the army.”

Danjuma was born in 1938, the year Royal Dutch Shell received its first oil exploration license for the country and more than two decades before it gained independence from Britain.

He dropped out of college in 1960 to join the army, according to “Nigerian Politics in the Age of Yar’Adua” by Bayode Ogunmupe. He gained prominence after participating in the 1966 counter-coup against Nigeria’s first military dictator.

A decade later, he was stepping out of a Rolls-Royce in central London to meet British military officials in his role as chief of staff for Nigeria’s army. He left the military in 1979 and founded his oil firm and a shipping company, NAL-Comet, which now has more than 2,000 employees in Nigeria. Danjuma paid $25m in 1998 for the oil field exploration license that made him a billionaire. A year later, he became Nigeria’s defence minister as the country returned to democracy.

He originally teamed up with Total SA and Brazil’s Petroleo Brasileiro SA on the block. The minority stake that Danjuma’s company now owns is worth $450m, according to Bloomberg’s wealth index.

“Beyond the UK, they own real estate in California and have bought and sold property in Singapore. Their family office also oversees private equity investments, trust funds and a venture capital arm that backs family-run art and film companies. The Danjumas own more than 30 properties worldwide, filings show,” the report stated.

Confirming this, Danjuma’s daughter added, “We invest in real estate in other jurisdictions, but in the UK we always thought let’s stick to areas that we know.”

She noted that her father bought a residence in Singapore years ago, “and it made sense then to buy some more,” she said, adding they’ve since sold the properties because of tax law changes.

In addition to the Kings Arms Hotel, the Danjumas have developed residential properties this year in Esher and Wimbledon. They also own a boutique hotel in Lagos, serving beef carpaccio and lobster bisque in one of three dining areas and displaying works from the family’s art firm.

Kidnapping: Buhari, APC Have No Concern For Nigerians – PDP
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-26-2019, 09:33 PM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the “reckless dismissal” of the alarming spate of kidnapping in the country by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo further confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has no iota of concern towards the pain and suffering of Nigerians.

The opposition party in a statement on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said by attempting to play down on the menace as not being “as massive as that”, Prof. Osinbajo demonstrated that the APC-led government are not connected with the people but only pretends towards them during electioneering.

“In dismissing the security problem, the Vice President is simply telling victims of kidnapping that as far as the APC and its administration are concerned, they have not suffered enough. “The PDP says that such anti-people disposition, as being witnessed under the APC, can only come from an uncaring and insensitive administration that does not have the mandate of the people.

“It is therefore unfortunate that instead of being remorseful and seeking solutions, Prof. Osinbajo is rather playing on the sensibility of Nigerians by attempting to justify his comment, which has been widely condemned by citizens from all walks of life. “Prof. Osinbajo has only succeeded in showcasing President Buhari’s incompetence and failure in securing the nation. “He has also ridiculed his office in the eye of the international community, who is well aware of the gravity of kidnapping and other security challenges confronting our nation.

“What has Prof. Osinbajo said to the families whose breadwinners have been killed by kidnappers and many more who are still languishing in kidnappers’ den? “When will the problem of kidnapping become “massive” for the APC administration when medical doctors, community heads, faith-based leaders, government officials and their relations, students, innocent school children, pregnant women and even expatriates are being kidnapped in various parts of the country? “While our party and indeed millions of Nigerians appreciate the efforts by our security operatives in fighting this menace, despite the operational challenges imposed on them by the incompetent APC administration, the PDP insists that President Buhari must bear the blame for the persistence of the security problems,” the PDP said.

Migraine in pregnancy linked with complications for mothers and babies
[Image: d0ab5fbcf34f375851cf430ed3656ba6.jpg]
By Ankur Banerjee
(Reuters Health) - Pregnant women with migraine headaches are more likely to develop complications, and their babies are at higher risk for complications early after birth, too, a large study from Denmark suggests.
Using Danish registries, researchers identified 22,841 pregnant women with migraine and compared them with 228,324 pregnant women without migraine. They found that the debilitating disorder was tied to pregnancy-associated blood pressure problems as well as miscarriage.

And newborns of mothers with migraine had higher rates of low birth weight, respiratory distress syndrome, and febrile seizures compared with children of mothers without migraine.
Previous smaller studies have seen some of the same outcomes, including pregnancy-associated hypertension and low birth weight, coauthor Nils Skajaa from Aarhus University told Reuters Health by email. But the findings concerning the other neonatal and neurological risks are new, he said.
Migraine is more common in younger women, with up to 25 percent of women of reproductive age affected by the disease, the authors wrote in the journal Headache.
Most earlier studies had fewer than 1,000 migraine patients, they note.
This new, larger study solidifies what is already known about the impact of migraine in pregnant women, said Dr. Tina Nguyen, and obstetrician at UCLA Health in Los Angeles who was not involved in the study.

Using data from the Danish National Patient Registry and Danish Medical Birth Registry, Skajaa and colleagues evaluated pregnancies that occurred from 2005 through 2012.
Nearly 8 percent of women with migraine had pregnancy-associated hypertension disorders and 11.3 percent of suffered miscarriages, whereas those rates were 5 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively, in women without migraine, the study found.
Among the babies these women delivered, 6.1 percent had low birth weight, compared to 5.1 percent of babies born to mothers with migraine. And 25.4 percent of pregnancies with migraine had cesarean deliveries, compared to 22.3 percent of pregnancies without migraine.
After accounting for other factors that could affect the outcomes, women with migraine had a 50 percent higher risk for pregnancy-associated hypertension and a 10 percent higher risk for miscarriage, while their babies had a 14 percent higher risk for low birth weight and a 20 percent higher risk for cesarean delivery.

Women taking medications for migraine did not have higher risks of adverse outcomes compared to women with untreated migraine, the authors wrote, suggesting that migraine, rather than its treatment, is tied to adverse outcomes.
Retrospective studies like this one cannot prove cause and effect, so it's not clear that migraine was the cause of the complications. Another limitation of the study, which was funded by U.S. pharma company Amgen, is that women could have been misclassified as not having migraine if the headaches were diagnosed outside of a hospital or if they treated themselves with over-the-counter medications. Furthermore, Nguyen pointed out, the study lacked details on race as well as socioeconomic status of the participants.
The American Academy of Family Physicians says pregnant women with new-onset headaches or a new type of headache should be seen by a doctor.

You may want to understand the supply is limited. Keto Mode Diet Let's deal with the main secret. I used a Natural Fat Burner on occasion too. This stratagem needs little or no improvement. Many of the scenarios for Testosterone Booster can be learned easily. I'm looking toward the future of Testosterone Booster. It is a steady investment. That's actually simple maintenance. There are a number of facts that you have to do on a monthly basis. Stick with Weight Loss Supplement when that happens. I've been working with a newly established company. It's a step at a time. I always knew I could count on Testosterone Booster and, the other day, I was right. It isn't a long established industry. What is this as it touches on Weight Loss Tips? I needed a fresh perspective.

AIB spokesman Tunji Oketunmbi stated this yesterday in a telephone interview with The Nation.
Oketunmbi said the AIB team of investigators will also interview Air Peace crew and other personnel to enable the agency get first-hand information about the circumstances that led to the accident.

The spokesman said the AIB had also carried out site assessment on the aircraft to obtain relevant details critical to the probe of the accident.

He said its personnel would also interface with officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to obtain relevant documents about the aircraft and the crew that operated the flight.

According to him, the AIB has only done a preliminary investigation, as the major investigation into the cause of the accident had not begun.

Also, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has removed the aircraft from the bush, some metres from the runway, for normal flight operations to continue at the airport.

FAAN’s spokesperson, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, stated this in a statement.
She said: “The Air Peace aircraft that overshot the runway in Port Harcourt International Airport has been removed.
“The removal was facilitated by personnel of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc and Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company.”

“The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), which issued a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM), declaring the airport closed, has confirmed its re-opening for normal flights.”

Pastor Basil Princewill Jailed For Raping, Impregnating, 14-Year-Old Girl

Quote:A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has sentenced a pastor and founder of Mountain Movers Ministry International, Nyanya, Abuja, Pastor Basil Princewill, to seven years jail term after his conviction for raping a 14-year-old girl.

Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf, in a judgment on Tuesday convicted Princewill on two of the four counts contained in the charge on which he was tried.

Justice Baba Yusuf regretted that the defendant was cleric, who the society looked up to as next to God

The judge said as regrettable that a person who called himself a man of God was involved in such shameful, disgraceful and satanic act,

Justice Baba Yusuf said he took into consideration the fate of a young girl and the society in reaching his decision$

The judge was of the view that it was incumbent on the court to deter others with such evil mind from engaging in such acts.

He added: “It is even worrisome when the person involved is a man of God who we should look up to as next to God. Those who serve in the Lord’s vineyard are expected to be an example to the society.

“We have a duty to send signal that this attitude should not be tolerated. It is regrettable that the person who called himself man of God will be involved in such shameful disgraceful and satanic act.

Justice Baba Yusuf noted that by his conduct, Princewill deserved to be kept away from the public, adding that, “he would face the prison walls like a monastery so that when he comes out, he would have been born again.

“I believe the evidence of the PW2 (victim ) to be true and the PW1 (her mother) told the story in the same way the victim told the court too.

“The evidence of the accused was inconsistent and confusing also and the direct evidence given by the victim to her mother narrated the ordeal the victim went through in the hands of the accused.”

The judge added that out of the four-count charge preferred against the defendant by the prosecution, the defendant is convicted on count one, which is rape and count three which is abettment to cause abortion.

He held that though the convict denied raping the victim, his (Princewill’s) evidence contradicted itself, which informed why he should be convicted on the allegation of rape.

The judge discharged defendant on the offences of impersonation and attempt to cause miscarriage, which the judge said the prosecution failed prove the ingredients.

He said, because the convict was a first offender he “is sentenced to seven years for the offence of rape and five years for the offence of abettment which will run concurrently.”

Princewill, who looked pensive all through the proceedings on Tuesday, was araigned in June, 2012 by the police a four-count charge bordering on rape, impersonation and attempt to cause abortion and abetting miscarriage.

He was said to have forcefully had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl, Favour Iwoha, between July 27 and December 31, 2011 at Mountain Movers Ministry International and his house at Nyanya, Abuja, without her consent and impregnated her.

He was said to have subsequently given her drugs with a view to aborting the pregnancy.

The prosecution said Princewill, on or about January, 2012, attempted to cause miscarriage on the minor when he gave her drugs to take and abort the pregnancy, which caused her to bleed

The offence, according to prosecution, is contrary to Sections 282, 179, 95 and 85 of Penal Code.

In the course of trial, the prosecution called four witnesses. It closed its case on December 9, 2016.

The defendant closed his case on May 24, 2017 having testified for himself without calling any one.

After the judge pronounced Princewill guilty and convicted him, his lawyer, Kekere Akpe, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, and that the convict was a first-time offender as well as a family man.

Prosecution lawyer, Simon Lough, urged the court to impose a sentence on the convict to serve as a deterrent for others.

Afenifere Tackles Osinbajo: You Are A Pastor, Stop Lying; Nigeria Not Safe
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 06-26-2019, 01:32 PM - No Replies

The Pan Yoruba Socio-political group, Afenifere, has carpeted Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over his claim that the ongoing insecurity in the country particularly kidnapping and banditry were being exaggerated by Nigerians.

The General Assembly of the group on Tuesday at the Akure home of its leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, who berated Prof. Osinbajo over the comment made on Sunday while addressing some Nigerians in New York, maintained that the growing trends of insecurity in the country is an indication of a failed state, particularly with the recent security alerts issued by the United Kingdom and United States of America to their citizens over security threats in most parts of the country.

While stating that the development calls for concern, the group stressed that it does not reflect truthfulness on the part of the Vice-President as “Yorubaland is Still Under Siege” as well the continued “traumatization of our people by Fulani herdsmen/kidnappers/militia all across the Six states in the zone as well as Kwara and Kogi States.”

Recall that the Vice President had during a town hall meeting in New York on Sunday evening while responding to questions and comments as regards “high rate of killings and kidnappings” in the country stated that, “With respect to general kidnapping which we have seen in parts of the country, again, this is not entirely new. In fact, some of the kidnapping stories you read or listen to are simply not true anywhere, some are fuelled by politics.

At the meeting, Osinbajo added that, “There are cases of kidnapping, no question at all about that, but some of the more dramatic stories that you hear are simply not true.”

According to the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin who signed the communiqué after the meeting, Afenifere, “frowned at this unfortunate comments by the Vice President who shames the Yoruba people with his very cheap politicking with the lives of Nigerians.”

The communiqué read in parts, “All the reports provided clear indications of failure of state as the security forces have largely incapable or unwilling to safeguard the lives of our people against these Criminals as we are not aware of any of them that has been arrested or is under trial at the moment just as all the Federal Government has done so far is to make excuses for the Boko Haram and Miyetti Allah groups that have been accused of so many crimes against the people of Nigeria.

“It is against this backdrop that the meeting was scandalized by the opportunistic and provocative utterances of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in NewYork on Sunday dismissing the danger we are faced with in Yorubaland as well as by other zones in Nigeria as being “politically motivated.”

“As if he is unaware that we are in a digital world, which explains why America and Britain have issued travel directives to their citizens not travel to more than 2/3 of Nigeria, the VP without much thought for his integrity stated “With respect to general kidnapping which we have seen in parts of the country ,again, this is not entirely new. In fact, some of the kidnapping stories you read or listen to are simply not true anywhere, some are fueled by politics.”

Afenifere added that even the presidency cannot shy away from the pervading insecurity in country particularly as it affects the president’s hometown, Daura as well as dignitaries across the country.

“Is the report of the kidnap of a District Head from President Buhari’s town from May 1 till date politically motivated? And was the President speaking of another country when he handed kidnappers on rampage to God?

“Was former Health Minister, Prof Isaac Adewole playing politics when it was announced that his son was kidnapped ?

“What politics was afoot when the Ondo State Governor recently announced that his convoy was waylaid by kidnappers?

“If he cannot answer these questions, he should kneel before his God and ask for forgiveness for violating “Thou shall not lie” commandment .We further admonish him not to allow whatever ambition and political interest he serves to push him to make such infuriating comments as the No 2 man in the country again.

“As a people who cannot continue to bear what is going on, and we believe it is so with so many communities in Nigeria, meeting made the following demands:

The group however called on President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw from his position as the Patron of Miyetti Allah if he his sincere of tackling the issue of herdsmen attacks in the country.

“We restate our earlier call on Mr. President to separate the office of the President of Nigeria which he occupies from being also the grand patron of Miyetti Allah which we suspect makes it very difficult for security agents to go after members of this group whenever they commit or are accused of crimes.

“There must be immediate enforcement of law and order as an urgent measure to flush out these criminal elements from our society .

“There must be immediate steps taken to rework Nigeria to take it back to the practice of FEDERALISM so that every federating unit can have their police to secure their environment.

“In order to cut the production line of criminals and bandits we must have the practice of Federalism in many key spheres especially the economy so that all units must have the rights to tap whatever is under their soil so that new corridors of prosperity are created to eradicate the massive unemployment in the county so we can cease to be the headquarters of poverty.”

Heartbreaking photo of dead migrant father and daughter trying to get to the US

A devastating photo shows the body of a father and his 23-month-old daughter lying face down in shallow water after they drowned whle trying to get into the US.

The bodies of Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez and his 23-month-old daughter Valeria were discovered on Monday on the bank of the Rio Grande. His daughter was tucked inside his black t-shirt with her arm arond his neck, showing that she clung to him in her final moments.

The image was captured by journalist Julia Le Duc and published by Mexican newspaper La Jornada. It highlights the perils faced by mostly Central American migrants fleeing violence and poverty and hoping for asylum in the United States.

Ramirez, from El Salvador, was frustrated because the family was unable to present themselves to U.S. authorities and request asylum. So he swam across the river on Sunday with his daughter, Valeria. He set her on the U.S. bank of the river and started back for his wife, Tania Vanessa Avalos, but seeing him move away the girl threw herself into the waters. Martinez returned and was able to grab Valeria, but the current swept them both away. The account was based on remarks by a tearful Avalos to police at the scene.

Details of the incident were confirmed by Martinez’s mother back in El Salvador, Rosa Ramirez, who spoke with her daughter-in-law by phone afterwards.

Ramirez said: "When the girl jumped in is when he tried to reach her, but when he tried to grab the girl, he went in further … and he couldn’t get out. He put her in his shirt, and I imagine he told himself, 'I’ve come this far' and decided to go with her."

The search for Martinez and his daughter was suspended Sunday due to darkness, and their bodies were discovered the next morning near Matamoros, Mexico, across from Brownsville, Texas, several hundred yards from where they had tried to cross and just half a mile from an international bridge.

Ramirez said her son and his family left El Salvador on April 3 and spent about two months at a shelter in Tapachula, near Mexico’s border with Guatemala.

Ramire added: "I begged them not to go, but he wanted to scrape together money to build a home. They hoped to be there a few years and save up for the house."

El Salvador’s foreign ministry said it was working to assist the family including Avalos, who was at a border migrant shelter following the drownings.

The bodies were expected to be flown to El Salvador on Thursday.

I want to be Nigeria’s first female airline owner Kano-based businesswoman

I want to be Nigeria’s first female airline owner - Kano-based businesswoman Aisha Ja’e

A Nigerian businesswoman based in Kano recently shared her ambitious aspiration with Nigerians
- According to her, she wants to be the first female airline owner in Nigeria
- The lady named Aisha Ja'e also shared her very touching grass to grace story
Hajiya Aisha Muhammad is a Kano-based businesswoman who is the head of a transportation company called Ja’e Transport Services. She owns and operates a fleet of buses and tricycles.
In a recent correspondence with Daily Trust, the successful and experienced entrepreneur revealed several intimate details about herself. She also spoke of her desire to be the first female airline owner in Nigeria.
This was what she said about her future ambition: "My main objective is to acquire my own airline company that can be flying passengers both domestic and international. It’s been my major aspiration and I hope to achieve it. I even issued a will to my children; that in the event I pass on, they should please make sure that my dream is a reality. This is my last line of action in business, and I believe it would be achieved some day."

"When asked about her family background and childhood experience, she had this to say: "I was born in Kaduna and had my Islamic education from my parents. I was married off at the age of 12. My husband was studying at the College of Arts and Science (CAS), Kano, then. I stayed in their house in Kaduna. It was a large family. I gave birth to my first child at the age of 14. When my husband graduated from the university and became a solicitor, he relocated us to Kano. I had four children, then. When I attained 25 years, he enrolled me into an adult education school at the Kano State Library where I learned how to read and write in the western education system."

Aisha was further quizzed about how she came to be such a business mogul. According to her, she started right from the time she was 12 years old. Read her words below:
"I did petty trading since I was 12 and married. A bride’s apartment in those days could not be inseparable with small boys and girls, so I decided to produce goodies and milk candies; selling to these children. I ventured into clothes-washing job; it was not attracting wages. At that time, a washwoman received only the remnant soap as incentive. Then I started grinding. It’s because of the nature of the residence we were living in that everyone was engaged in one type of occupation or the other.

"My motives of engaging in all these jobs were because my husband was a student and was in need of assistance from his parents, so I made up my mind to be doing menial enterprises to help my family. When my husband was gainfully employed, he decided to relocate us to Kano. There, my business thrived as I started business with a single wrapper (atamfa) and leased headscarves to women who paid me at the end of the month. Since then, I have not looked back."
Aisha spoke about how she started by renting out okada and then went on to start renting out tricycles. This was about 19 years ago. Between this expanse of time, Aisha has gone through several major challenges. The businesswoman also highlighted some of these challenges.

"I started with a motorcycle (achaba or okada) 19 years ago. At that time commercial cycling was not banned in Kano. Before the state’s authorities banned achaba, it got to a point where I acquired at least 500 motorcycles. I leased them out and when the riders completed paying back, they took over possession of the bikes. After proscribing achaba in Kano, I bought one tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP. As time went by, I owned more than 3,980 tricycles. I registered my company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) when I had only 14 tricycles as Ja’e Transport Services.
"Thereafter, it came to my mind that we could broaden the business to bigger vehicles. We bought small trucks known as kurkura; that transport goods. So far, we have 86 of these trucks. And again, we ventured into buying minibuses; and we now have 25 18-seater Homer buses that ferry passengers from Kano to the South. We have operational offices in Lagos, Kaduna and here in Kano.

"I faced a number of challenges; breach of trust by my clients and losses in millions of naira, although, it is part of life. But as of now, the main challenge we are faced with is the Kano State Government’s promise to partner with us in helping the youths under our company. The government lured us, where we sold more than 3,000 forms to these youths, that we could give them tricycles on loan. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything from the government. These youths come to us, all the time, asking how far we have gone – thinking that we’re the ones who made the promise."
Aisha also spoke of her contribution to the society. Apart from the fact that she has provided 5,000 jobs for youths, she has also contributed her quota to her immediate communities. Seeing just how much she has achieved, Aisha called on other women to take up the challenge of creating employment.

"At Ja’e Transport Services, we have at least provided more than 5,000 jobs; apart from those that earn monthly salary from our company, who are 257 in number. We also give out free lunch to our staff to provide an enabling working environment for them. We have indeed given our own quota; and yet we remain resolute to keep the tempo as long we are alive. First of all, we give employment to our youths, and householders too. And we have orphanages that we give assistance to and take responsibility of the education of the orphans and pay medical bills for some.
"We also pay fines for prisoners; we have freed at least 36 inmates and built a borehole at Kurmawa Prison here in Kano and supplied them with eating bowls and dishes. Again, we have a football club called Ja’e Academy. It was out of our passion to encourage the youths to develop in athletics and sports; football being a business now. With this effort alone, I was awarded an honourary doctorate by a university in Benin Republic. We also have Ja’e Driving School, where our drivers, as well as the general public acquire driving skills.

"Being redundant is one of the major causes of family/marriage break ups. I received a number of such cases; some I have successfully resolved; while some ended up in marriages breaking down. Husbands of nowadays are overwhelmed with family burden that they can’t afford taking care of every family need. There’re issues of school fees, health, clothing and many other unforeseen burdens. It would be recalled that in the olden days, there was free education in public schools. Everybody now pays school fees for both western and Islamic education, and husbands take care of all these. So if you’re in business, you stand to assist the family and even the community."
To conclude her discussion, Aisha appealed on the government to provide soft loans for those who want to start businesses; she also doled out advice to those willing to go into the transportation business.

"I call on government to provide some interest-free or soft loans to people like me for the purpose of driving the economy. With such things we can reduce the menace of unemployment that is eating deep into the fabric of this country. If Ja’e Transport Services alone can provide 5,000 jobs, what do you think will happen if small entrepreneurs are given financial assistance?
"For people like me, the government should spur our effort; and if we can get 20 times of my like here in Kano and the other states, I think the story would not be the same. The federal and state governments must strive to establish industries/companies to check the monster of unemployment in Nigeria. "Once you have the interest, it’s as easy as pie. One can just start up with one vehicle or partner with a colleague under the modern principle of doing business as we’re currently doing; whereby we open our doors for any interested person to invest in our company. It’s a very profitable business that can take care of our unemployed youths."

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 26TH JUNE.

WE WALK IN BLESSINGS ONLY

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel:
according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought (Numbers 23:23).

There’re Christians who have come to the conclusion that their predicament is the result of a curse working against them. They’re thus going around seeking deliverance from so-called ancestral or other curses. Such Christians, consciously or inadvertently, have been deceived. The Christian is superior to Satan and everything of darkness, and therefore can’t be under a curse.

The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You’ve been born anew, called to inherit a blessing, not a curse: “…ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:9). Read God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Blessings are at work in you, because you’re the seed of Abraham. No one can bewitch you or cast a spell on you.

If you were told that someone was trying to charm you, you don’t even have to pray for it not to work. You can neither be charmed nor cursed. There’s no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel. This is your heritage as the seed of Abraham.

Did you say there’s someone somewhere scheming against you, your family, or your job? Don’t panic. Don’t fret. Their schemes against you can’t work. They should take a cue or learning from Balaam of the Old Testament. After several futile attempts to enchant and curse Israel, he submitted, “No magic spells can bind Jacob, no incantations can hold back Israel…” (Numbers 23:23 MSG).

Balaam couldn’t lay a curse on them, because they were God’s people; and today, we’re living out better promises. You walk in blessings only, and only the blessed Word of the Lord can come to pass in your life. Even the demons know who you are. There’s a mark on you; you’re branded for God; sealed for blessings. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

I’m branded for God, and there’s no enchantment against me! I’m blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. I’m conscious of this truth and the authority I have over all principality, power, and the rulers of the darkness of this world! I walk in blessings only! In Christ, I’m secure and fortified against all machinations of the enemy. Glory to God!

#TALKINGSESSION

26TH JUNE.

Father, I thank You for the precious Holy Spirit whom You’ve given to me to help me chart my course victoriously and excellently in life. The glory, beauty, aura, and perfections of Your Spirit are manifested, and displayed in and through me, to my world.

I am exceptional, for my mind is anointed to think Your thoughts! With Your Word in my mouth, I cast down all imaginations of fear, failure, sickness, disease, and infirmity! No evil or negative imagination has a place in my heart! My mind is inundated with the Word, with which I prevail over all the fiery darts of the enemy, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Igbo congress blasts Buhari, service chiefs over insecurity, wants Miyetti Allah declared terrorist organisation[Image: PRESIDENT-MUHAMMADU-BUHARI-3.jpg]

A socio-political organization with branches in all Igbo speaking states, the Igbo National Council, INC, has berated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government of Nigeria over its poor handling of the security challenges ravaging parts of the country.

Comrade Chilos Godsent, National President of the group, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday morning, came hard on the Buhari-led administration and heads of security agencies over the way “they were pampering the terrorist group called Miyetti Allah”.

According to the statement, “With recent inflammatory statements and hate speeches credited to the leadership of the Miyetti Allah, against the Igbo race in Nigeria since the formal inauguration swearing-in of President Muhammadu Buhari for his second term, it has become very necessary that the federal government of Nigeria declare Miyetti Allah, a terrorist organization and immediately order the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute them with immediate effects as their statement to attack and invade the South East region of Nigeria is capable of igniting an ethnic war.

“The Igbo National Council,(INC), will take every proactive step to resist and defend the igbo territories against any form of attack, aggression or invasion by group in whatever disguise or name. The orchestrated unholy conspiracies and gang up against the igbo race in Nigeria must be put to stop”.

DAILY POST had reported that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has denied recent reports, in which it was quoted as threatening to soon attack the five South-eastern states over the purported stubbornness of their governors.

Chairman of the group in the South-East, AIhaji Gidado Sidikki, who briefed journalists in Awka during a short prayer to mark the Eid-el-fitr celebration for Muslims in the city, said that the reports ascribed to him, in which he was quoted to have said that states of the South-east zone would be attacked by herders, were blatant falsehood.

My monthly salary is N750,000 – New Senate President, Ahmed Lawan reveals

Senate president Ahmed Lawan has said his monthly salary is N750,000 and that there was nothing like jumbo salary for National Assembly members as being speculated in the media.

Lawan made the disclosure, when members of the Senators’ Forum paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja on Tuesday. While further disregarding the jumbo pay issue, he revealed that his monthly salary as a lawmaker and that of his colleagues was N750,000.

Quote:“What I want to emphasize here is that I never believed that that there is anything called Jombo pay to the national assembly. The National Assembly members both the Senate and the House receive what is their salaries and I receive N750,000 as my salary. But I need to function as a senator, my office needs to be properly funded,” he said.
He promised that the National Assembly was going to be open to the general public in the conduct of its legislative activities, particularly in the area of funding;

“National Assembly is going to be open to the public, I believe that the national assembly should have everything open , let Nigerians Know, what we are doing. I believe that Nigerians need to understand this, we need to continually engage with Nigerians and I will also argue that we continue to explain to Nigerians, they deserve to know how their resources are being utilised. I believe that the national assembly needs proper funding because the legislature is so critical in any national development,’’ he said.

A mother has been charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide for running over her 3-year-old son while playing a game of "chicken" with her kids.

According to a news release from Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, Lexus Stagg, 26, was seen in surveillance footage from her Harris County, Texas, apartment driving toward her three children as they ran toward the front of her 2006 Lincoln Navigator.

Two of the children moved out of the vehicle's path in time but Stagg's 3-year-old son, named Lord Renfro, was stuck. The child was caught under the SUV's right tire at first but the mum didn't stop driving right away and the child was hit again by the rear tire of the vehicle.

Stagg initially told police that she thought she hit a speed bump, the release said.

The incident took place on June 11, and Stagg was arrested Thursday and charged with criminally negligent homicide, the district attorney's office said. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

According to KTRK, Stagg previously had two older children removed by child protective services in 2013. After the death of the 3-year-old boy, her two surviving children were also removed.

Nigerians Call For Arrest Of Amosun Over 1,000 AK47, 4 Million Bullets Stockpile
User Avatar Forum: News

Nigerians have united in the call for the arrest of former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, who surrendered 1,000 AK47 and 4 million bullets he acquired before the 2019 election.

Recall that it was reported that Amosun had on May 28, a day before he was billed to complete his eight years as governor, called the state police commissioner, Bashir Makama, to confess that he had a cache of arms he was willing to surrender to the police. He claimed he procured the arms and ammunition to check the widespread insecurity in his state of 3,751,140 residents, according to the 2006 census. According to him, he decided to keep them at the Government House Armoury to ensure they were not allocated indiscriminately by security agencies.

The manner with which Mr Amosun turned in the arms has alarmed security officials, who saw the affair as damaging to national security. Nigerians who reacted to the surrendered 1,000 AK47 and 4 million bullets report, took to social media to call for the arrest of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Goodluck Jonathan fires back at Osinbajo

Goodluck Jonathan fires back at Osinbajo

                          [Image: You-have-leprous-finger-Goodluck-Jonatha...=600%2C337]
Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has attacked Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo over some of the issues he (Osinbajo) raised during his visit to the United States of America.

Speaking in New York yesterday, Osinbajo had claimed that, “As at 2010, Nigeria had about 112.7million people living in extreme poverty. Nothing in place, there was no Social Investment Programme, there was no social security, no way of taking people out of poverty.”

But Jonathan, in a statement made available to Akelicious on Tuesday by his media office and signed by Reno Omokri, said that Osinbajo has taken his lies to the US.

He added, “My attention has been drawn to statements by the so-called Pastor Yemi Osinbajo, the deputy to General Muhammadu Buhari, in New York where, as usual, he made false statements to the media in an effort to explain away his non-performance in office.

“The statement [by Osinbajo] is a lie and it is very easy to disprove Mr. Osinbajo’s fallacious assertions.

“According to the United Nations and the World Poverty Clock, Nigeria overtook India as the world headquarters for extreme poverty on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, when her population of extremely poor people ‘INCREASED’ to an unprecedented 87 million people.

“If, according to both the United Nations and the World Poverty Clock, Nigeria’s population of extremely poor people hit an unprecedented number of 87 million people in 2018 under General Buhari, how is it possible that there were 112.7 million people living in extreme poverty in 2010?

“If that were true, then Nigeria would have overtaken India as the world headquarters for extreme poverty in 2010, because as at that time, India did not have such numbers of extremely poor people.

“You see that no matter how far and fast Osinbajo’s regular falsehood travels, it will always be overtaken by truth.

“The truth is that the period between 2010 and 2015 witnessed the most radical reduction in poverty, ever in Nigerian history.

“For instance, according to the annual Global Hunger Index published by the US based International Food Policy Research Institute, whereas hunger increased in other parts of sub Saharan Africa, for the first time since records were kept, Hunger reduced in Nigeria by 20% in 2013 under the Jonathan administration. I encourage my readers to Google this information.

“I should note that, according to the same International Food Policy Research Institute, hunger in Nigeria has risen every year since 2015.

“Also, it is not true that there were ‘no Social Investment Programme’ under the Jonathan administration. On the contrary, the most successful social intervention programmes ever put in place in Nigeria, were introduced and implemented by the Jonathan government.

“This included the SUBSIDY REMOVAL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM called SURE-P, whereby roads, hospitals and child care clinics amongst others were funded from the proceeds of the partially removed subsidy (including the ongoing Second Niger Bridge that this administration dishonestly tried to take credit for), headed by renowned industrialist and diplomat, Dr. Christopher Kolade and the Conditional Cash Transfer program to poor Nigerians and pregnant women (which the Buhari administration has praised publicly).

“The Jonathan administration also had several initiatives to turn around the lives of Nigerian youths including the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin), the Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovations and Development scholarships (PRESSID) to First Class graduates of Nigerian universities to mention a few.

“That same government also built 165 almajiri schools to help reduce the 12 million strong population of out of school children in Northern Nigeria, as well as built 12 new federal universities.

“The policy of the Jonathan administration was that it was better to give Nigerians a HAND UP, via education and grants to start their own businesses, rather than give our people HANDOUTS of small sums of money that is essentially fish, but doesn’t teach them to fish.

“In conclusion, I will like to say again that Mr. Osinbajo has shown himself to be a man of very base character, who lies as much as the devil that he preaches against and whose behaviour has undermined the faith of genuine believers.

“It will be recalled that only last week, Mr. Osinbajo claimed that the 2019 elections were better than the 2015 elections, despite the verdict of the US, EU and AU to the contrary.

“It is now left to those who gave him the title ‘pastor’ to determine whether he is representing Christ well. Judgment Day is coming. And we shall all give account.”

Botanica Pure Keto Botanica Pure Ketos may be generally confused with other cat members just like the cheetah and the jaguar. The Amur Botanica Pure Keto differs from different subspecies of Botanica Pure Keto by its giant physique measurement, thick coat and large, broadly spaced, thick-rimmed black rosettes. Essentially the most number of Botanica Pure Keto seen in a single day numbered 11 cats in 7 sightings. This poster was a part of public info campaigns undertaken with the intention to highlight the impacts of picking up Botanica Pure Keto cubs from forests, sugarcane fields and different areas. Photographs of snorting wildebeest migrations and flamingo-lined lakes are in all probability first to thoughts when serious about Kenya 's wildlife but the Samburu and Masai Mara National Reserves have reputations for wonderful Botanica Pure Keto sightings.

Two Nigerian drug peddlers and one from Ivory Coast, were arrested and 254 grams of cocaine worth 15 lakh was seized from their possession after a raid at their residence at Khadarbagh near Golconda in Hyderabad on Sunday night.

Excise sleuths arrested Zadi Pascal of Ivory Coast, Ugochukwu Chima Goodluck and Okoro Uchenna Samuel, both from Nigeria. Acting on specific information, the excise department’s enforcement wing raided a house located at Bahaduryarjung Colony in Khadarbagh, Golconda on Sunday night and arrested the trio in possession of 254 grams of cocaine.

“Apart from the contraband, we have also seized 3.2 lakh cash, which the accused have collected from clients by selling the drug. Our team has also seized three motorcycles and four cell phones from the accused,” deputy commissioner, excise, C Vivekananda Reddy, said.

On interrogation, Pascal confessed that he had been working for two groups of cocaine peddlers operating from Mumbai and Bengaluru.

"Goodluck works for Bengaluru-based cocaine supplier Ebuka, while Samuel has been working for Mumbai-based supplier Dandy, who in turn operates on the instructions of Nigeria-based peddler Lucky,” excise department assistant superintendent N Anji Reddy said.

Goodluck came from Bengaluru a few days ago and handed over cocaine to Pascal. After the sale, he was supposed to collect cash from Pascal and hand over it over to Ebuka. Samuel came from Mumbai to keep a watch on Pascal’s operations in the city on behalf of Dandy and Lucky. None of the arrested peddlers have a valid visa and they have been staying illegally in the country for the past two-and-half-years, the excise officials said.

The deputy commissioner said they have identified some customers and appropriate legal action would be initiated against them. The accused were produced in court, which remanded them in judicial custody.

Cadbury shareholders get N471m

The Board of Directors of Cadbury Nigeria Plc at the weekendassured shareholders that it would continue to work to create more value for investors.
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos, the board reiterated its commitment to sustaining the company’s dividend policy as shareholders approved the distribution of N471 million as cash dividend for the 2018 business year. Shareholders will receive a dividend per share of 25 kobo for the 2018 business year as against 16 kobo paid for the 2017 business year.

Chairman, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mr. Atedo Peterside, said the company’s positive performance last year was driven by success of its cost-cutting measures, effective marketing strategy, and superlative performance of its various brands.

He noted that the company re-launched its iconic cocoa beverage drink, Bournvita, with a new improved taste in 2018 in line with consumers’ tastes and preferences, pointing out that feedback from consumers indicated that the new Bournvita has gained wide acceptance.

“Cadbury Hot Chocolate 3-in-1 brand, our treat portfolio, recorded substantial growth, driven by its unique offering, while our gum and candy brands also recorded success in their respective categories. In addition, we sustained our current price competitiveness, and increased our route-to-market coverage and footprint in 2018,” Peterside said.

Key extracts of the audited report and accounts for the year ended December 31, 2018 showed that the company’s full-year profit before tax surged by 242.9 per cent to N1.2 billion in 2018 as against N350 million in 2017. Net profit rose by 174 per cent from N299.9 million in 2017 to N823 million in 2018.

Shareholders commended the company for increasing its dividend payment, urging the board and management to sustain its growth trajectory.

They charged the company to continue to evolve ways of consolidating on the performance of its brands, while exploring other options including local manufacture of Hot Chocolate 3 in 1, which is currently imported from Ghana, to create more jobs locally.

Shareholders also commended Mondelez International and the board of directors of Cadbury Nigeria for the appointment of Mrs. Oyeyimika Adeboye as the first female Managing Director of the company, effective April 1, 2019.

Shareholders said the appointment has restored confidence in the ability of Nigerians to lead multinationals, urging Adeboye to justify her elevation by sustaining the momentum built by the immediate past managing director by taking the company to greater heights.

Shareholders also applauded the appointment of Mr. Ogaga Ologe, the company’s erstwhile Financial Controller, who was appointed as the new Finance Director.

Mondelz International, a global snacking powerhouse, holds 74.99 per cent majority equity stake in Cadbury Nigeria, while the remaining 25.01 per cent are held by a diverse group of Nigerian individual and institutional investors.

The Nigerian stock market was highly active last week as volume and value of trading rose by 762 per cent and 477 per cent respectively.
High trading in the shares of Wema Bank Plc Forte Oil Plc boosted trading volume and value to 7.476 billion shares worth N91.107 billion exchanged in 17,192 deals up from the 868.739 million shares valued at N15.792 billion in 12,201 deals the previous week.

However, the bearish trend was sustained as the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index declined by 0.65 per cent to close lower at 29,851.29 while market capitalisation shed 59 per cent to be at N13.155 trillion.
This was the third consecutive decline the market is recording, thereby worsening the month-to-date and year-to-date to 3.39 per cent and 5.02 per cent in that order.
In terms of sectoral performance, the NSE Consumer Goods Index shed 1.6 per cent, followed by the NSE Industrial Goods Index that shed 1.5 per cent. On the positive side, the NSE Insurance Index led with 8.7 per cent, trailed by the NSE Banking Index with 2.6 per cent. The NSE Oil & Gas Index appreciated by 0.7 per cent.
Considering the fact that the decline recorded last week was lower than previous week’s and it was expected that the bulls would return to the market this week.

Commenting on the market performance, analysts at Cordros Capital Limited said: “We reiterate our view that the blend of a compelling valuation story, together with positive macroeconomic picture leaves scope for market recovery in the medium term. However, we guide investors to tread the cautious trading path in the short term.”

The capital market community last week explored opportunities in the Islamic finance in Nigeria.  Decision-makers, regulators and investors came together in Lagos to exchange their views and experiences on those opportunities.
The forum featured a mix of panel sessions, onstage interviews and interactive sessions on a number of themes in Islamic finance including, Corporate Financing and Capital Raising in Nigeria; Funding Infrastructure and Social Welfare Requirements in West Africa and Islamic Finance, Investment, Banking and Takaful in Nigeria.
Speaking at the forum, the Chief Executive Officer, NSE, represented by the Divisional Head, Trading Business, NSE, Mr. Jude Chiemeka, applauded the federal government, the Debt Management Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Pension Commission for showing unwavering commitment to the deepening and growth of Islamic Finance in Nigeria.
“The Islamic finance sector presents numerous opportunities for enhancing the economic fortunes of Nigeria and the exchange will continue to work with market stakeholders to ensure the development of a robust Islamic finance sector. In 2016, for example, we developed and publicised our rules governing the listing of Sukuk and similar debt securities to provide regulatory guidance for issuers seeking to list their instruments on our platform.
“In line with the SEC’s non-Interest Capital Markets Product Master Plan, we have also identified five strategic pillars critical for the growth of the sector. These include a strong regulatory framework, capacity building, product development, robust primary and secondary markets, and market awareness programs such as these.

“We have already started executing on these pillars and recently hosted a training exercise for the market. We will also continue to provide an efficient and liquid market for investors and businesses in Africa, to save and access capital. We promise to continue our collaboration with all market stakeholders, to collectively contribute towards the enhancement of this new asset class, and ultimately towards the growing Islamic finance in Nigeria and Africa at large,” he said.
Some of the speakers at the event included Acting Director-General (DG) Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ms Mary Uduk; Director-General, DMO, Ms Patience Oniha; Acting DG, National Pension Commission (Pencom), Hajia Aisha Dahir-Umar; Managing Director/CEO, Lotus Capital, Hajara Adeola among others.
But the Director General of Debt Management Office (DMO), said the federal government was perfecting arrangements to float another N100 billion Sukuk Bond to finance   some infrastructure projects listed in the 2019 budget.
Sukuk are bonds structured to generate returns to ethical investors without infringing on the Islamic law which forbids interest payments.
Oniha said: “It represents an ownership interest in the asset to be financed rather than a debt obligation. It will be this year 2019  you God’s grace because the budget has been approved.  The projects would be those included in the budget and the borrowing will also be what has been approved in the budget, part of new domestic borrowing. So, it will be this year.”

According to her, the second Sukuk bond  (N100 billion Ijarah Sukuk) issued last December would be listed  in July.

Chineme Okafor in Abuja
The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has said that in 2017, a total of 264,938,662 barrels of crude oil were stopped from getting out of oil fields in the country into export terminals due to repeated pipeline vandalism and other production associated challenges.
In its oil and gas annual report obtained by THISDAY, the DPR equally explained that in 2017, except for Europe and Oceania, the percentage volume of Nigeria’s crude oil blends exported to north and south American countries, as well as to Asia and other African countries dropped.
The DPR noted that in 2017, Nigeria on the average deferred 725,859 barrels of oil every day (bd). It added that cumulatively the deferred figure for the year was 264,938,662 barrels.

For instance, it said in January of same year, about 34 million barrels (mb) was deferred, while 18mb and 27mb were deferred in February and March. In April, May, and June, it was 22mb, 19mb, 16mb respectively, while in July, August, September, October, November and December, it was 18mb, 19mb, 22mb, 23mb, 20mb, 21mb respectively.
According to the report, in 2016, the percentage of Nigeria’s oil export to Europe was 34.9 per cent, which subsequently rose in 2017 to 37.3 per cent.
However, countries in north and south America imported less of Nigeria’s oil in 2017 compared to 2016 with the figures for both years settling at 22.5 per cent in 2016 and 21.4 per cent in 2017. Importation by African countries also followed the same trajectory dropping from 14.6 per cent in 2016 to 12.5 per cent in 2017.
With regards to imported volumes for the period, it stated that European countries imported 245mb of oil from Nigeria, followed by Asia which imported 181mb. North America imported 119mb while African countries imported 82mb from Nigeria, and south America and Oceania imported 21mb and 6mb respectively.
It added that out of 41 licenses it granted to private investors to build refineries, 20 had expired, but did not disclose if they were renewed by their promoters.
With regards to the Domestic Gas Supply (DGS) obligation which the government imposed on oil producers in the country, the DPR said its performance in the year was 41 per cent, with 11 oil companies 1065.58 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mscfd) to key sectors such as power and industries in the country for the period under consideration.

82-year-old man compensated with $288,000 after 46 years for being wrongfully convicted for murder

82-year-old Vietnamese man Tran Van Them was charged, convicted and sentenced to death in 1973 and 1974. He was only declared innocent in 2017.

Them, a resident of Yen Phong District in Bac Ninh Province, one hour northeast of Hanoi, got the compensation for the years he spent in jail

He and his family originally demanded VND15 billion in compensation for his ordeal, which included being sentenced to death twice. After prolonged negotiations, they agreed to accept less than half their demand, because "we have been waiting for too long" and Them "is already too old and his health has been declining progressively," the family said.

According to police records, Them and his cousin Nguyen Khac Van were on their way to buy goods in Vinh Phu Province, which has now been separated into Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces, on June 23, 1970, VnExpress reports.

As they were sleeping under a makeshift shelter used by a street barber during the day, they were attacked and robbed. Van was hit in the head and Them was injured, too. Van died at the hospital later and police concluded that Them had committed robbery and murder.

At the trial of first instance in 1973, he was sentenced to death, and the sentence was upheld in 1974. Them refused to admit guilt and steadfastly asserted he was innocent.

In 1976, he was released after a local man admitted to the crime. But that suspect died in 1984, before the court resumed the trial.

As the investigators did not continue investigating the case and left it unresolved, Them submitted a petition in 1997, asking the supreme court to review the case, but nothing was changed.

On December 6, 2004, Them filed another petition, but by then, the Justice Council Members of the Supreme People's Court had destroyed all files of the first instance and appeal trials. This allowed police to start the investigation afresh in line with regulations.

11 long years later, investigators collected enough evidence to close the case and affirm Them’s innocence.

In August 8, 2016, investigators decided to stop investigating Them and the supreme court concluded that he was innocent. Three days later, the court made a public apology to Them.

In 2017, the supreme court deleted all criminal records of Them and began negotiating the compensation.

Now a free man, Them said: "During all those years in prison, I still believed that I would be declared innocent one day and that the police would definitely arrest the real culprit."
"I’ve suffered all those days that people, including family members, shunned me. But I did not do it."

Journalist Ohimai Amaize flees Nigeria over 'threats' of his arrest for 'treason'

Nigerian lournalist and presenter of the popular KakaakiSocial on African Independent Television (AIT), Ohimai Amaize, has fled the country.

According to reports, Amaize popularly called MrFixNigeria, left the country over threats and concerns he was going to be arrested and framed for treason and incitement by the Buhari regime.

Recall that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had threatened to revoke DAAR Communications license over tweets from Nigerians shown on @kakaakisocial which was anchored by Amaize.

The NBC had on June 6 suspended the license of Daar Communications Plc., owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power.

Director-General of NBC, Modibbo Kawu, said the action was taken for failure of the TV and radio stations to abide by the broadcasting code.

Quote:In a letter entitled, “Lack of Responsibility in use of content from social media,” which was addressed to the Group Managing Director of Daar Communications Group, the NBC described the Kakaaki social edition of May 22, 2019, as “treasonable rhetoric.”
Before his stint at AIT, Amaize was Special Advisor on Media Strategy to Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, while he was the Minister of State for Defence. He also served as Research Assistant to a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu and later a media aide to the presidential campaign of Dele Momodu.

Woman who had sex with her dad then married him, after fighting with her sister over who will bed him first, is spared jail

A 21-year-old woman who had sex with her own father before marrying him has been spared jail after her father was locked up for two years.

Samantha Kershner, 21, got married to Travis Fieldgrove, 40, after she and her sister allegedly got locked in a sick fight over who could have sex with him first.

The father and daughter were charged with incest after being accused of having sex in two counties in Nebraska, US. But Kershner pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour charge of false reporting, a plea by which a defendant accepts conviction but does not plead or admit guilt, and got nine months probation.

Fieldgrove was jailed for two years last month after pleading no contest to attempted incest in a deal with prosecutors. The two also face incest charges in Hastings, Adams County, where they tied the knot last October, Metro UK reports.

Kershner is further accused of making false statements under oath. She is said to have first met Fieldgrove as a 17-year-old when her mum first told her he was her father.

Police started probing the relationship after Kershner’s mother reported that they had sex last September.

Fieldgrove denied he was Kershner’s dad but DNA tests proved 99.99 per cent he was, court files said. Documents also said Kershner claimed her motive to have sex with him was due to "jealous competition with her half-sister" about who could sleep with him first.

Police said: "This case relates to the two being involved in an intimate relationship beginning in September of 2018 in Grand Island, Nebraska, despite evidence that Fieldgrove is the paternal parent.

"Evidence leading up to the arrest suggests that Fieldgrove and Kershner were aware of the biological relationship before being intimate, and further indicates that they quickly married one another after being notified of the investigation."

55-year-old man arraigned for defiling two of his daughters over a period of 9 years

[Image: lagos-state-special-and-sexual-offences-...80x279.jpg]

A 55-year old man, Eze Chukwuma, was arraigned before the Lagos State Special Offences Court yesterday Monday June 24th for allegedly molesting his two daughters, aged 16 and 17, between the years 2008 and 2017 at his No 2 Agbeke Close, Iyana-Era, Coker bus stop, Ijanikin, Lagos.

According to the court papers, Chukwuma allegedly started molesting his daughters after the death of his wife, the girls mother, in February 2008.

During the court hearing yesterday, the 16-year-old daughter, said her father disvirgined her in 2008 and slept with her and her other sister consistently for 9 years.

Quote:“The whole thing started when my mother died in February 2008. My father brought us back from the village in Ebonyi State to Lagos and started harassing my elder sister sexually; two of my elder sisters were already staying with him then. When we got to the house, we couldn’t find one of my sisters. So, I asked my eldest sister and she said that she ran away from the house when she could no longer bear daddy’s sexual harassment.
“My eldest sister stayed and endured everything, because she would soon finish secondary school. My eldest sister later gained admission to the university and since then has not come home, neither has she spoken with my father.
“At a point, I was left at home with my two other sisters and at night, my father would ask us to separate ourselves so that he could sleep with one person first before going for the other. Sometimes, he would threaten to stab us if we refused to allow him to have his way.” she said

The presiding judge, Justice Abiola Sholadoye, ordered that Eze be remanded in the Kirikiri Medium Prison and adjourned the case till October 28 for trial.

California man arrested for shooting a 10-month-old in the head because her mother rejected him at a party

A 10-month old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the head by a 23-year-old man because the child's mother rejected him at a party.

According to the LA Times, 23-year-old Marcos Antonio Echartea was arrested Sunday in Fresno, California on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder after police say he shot into a car where baby Fayth, her mother, and a male friend were sitting.

Further investigation revealed that Marcos met Fayth’s mother, 18-year-old Deziree Menagh, a week ago at a gathering. Police say Marcos tried to hold Deziree’s hand, and when she pulled away, he was offended.

According to police, Marcos then tried to force Deziree to sit on his lap. She pulled away again and left the party with a friend. While leaving, they stopped at a nearby traffic light and Deziree reportedly saw Marcos walking toward the vehicle. He allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired three times into the driver’s side window. Fayth was struck by a bullet in the side of her head.

Baby Fayth Percy is reportedly in critical but stable condition. She had surgey Sunday to remove bullet fragments from her head, according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry dyer.

Dyer said: "We’re very fortunate that she’s alive. It tears my heart up to see a baby of that age laying in the hospital."

Police have also identified Marcos as a suspect in another shooting related to a female. He reportedly fired several shots into a home belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s new partner on May 27.

He is now facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder and firing into an occupied dwelling.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 25TH JUNE.

WE ALWAYS WIN

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him, And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour… (Acts 7:9-10).

As God’s children, we’re never disadvantaged. Everything in life, every situation we find ourselves, can only work to our advantage. Consider the story of Joseph. Everywhere he went, he prospered. He was described as a prosperous man, despite being a slave in Potiphar’s house. What made the difference in his life was God’s presence.

Genesis 39:2 says, “And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man….” God’s presence, Christ in you, is your advantage; that’s your assurance for victory. 1 John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” The reason we win, and would always win, is Christ in us; the greater One in us. Hallelujah!

I mean, think about it: Joseph was eventually unjustly sent to prison, due to false accusations from Potiphar’s wife. Yet, in prison, the Bible says, “…the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison” (Genesis 39:21). The Bible doesn’t say you might not get into trouble; but the Lord’s assurance is that in the midst of the trouble, you’ll prevail. He’ll rid you of that trouble, because He’s with you, and in you.

Nothing compares to Christ in us! That’s our confidence and assurance for a triumphant and prosperous life. Christ in you means you can never be disadvantaged, irrespective of the situation or circumstance that you may find yourself. Right in that seeming dungeon, He’d cause you to triumph.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 2:14, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ….” This is your life. This is your story: one of endless victories and persistent progress and productivity in Christ Jesus.

It makes no difference the challenges you might be facing at home, in your workplace, etc.; be comforted! Christ in you will put you over and turn things around in your favour. Therefore, rejoice, because come what may, you’ll always win.

CONFESSION

I’m surrounded with God’s favour as a shield, and positioned by His grace for a life of peace and total prosperity! I win every day, because I live by the faith of Jesus Christ. His divine power has given me everything I require for life and godliness, and I know it. Therefore, I rejoice in my victories, prosperity, and blessed life in Christ. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

25TH JUNE.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for the great things You will accomplish through me today. My faith is strong and unwavering. I have overcome the systems of this world; therefore I refuse to be bound by the limitations that exist in the world. My life is upward and forward because I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself
for me. My body is Your temple and Your dwelling place.

I yield every fibre of my body to Your Word, as a living sacrifice, so that I might bring glory to Your Name. No sickness shall reign in my body and sin shall not lord it over me, because I belong to You. Thank You for this great privilege, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Do not expect debt relief, U.S. warns Africa

[Image: Tibor-Peter-Nagy-Jr.jpg]Nagy

The U.S. top Africa diplomat, Tibor Nagy, warned in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday that African countries running up debt they cannot pay back, including China, should not expect to be bailed out by western-sponsored debt relief.
The International Monetary Fund and World Bank began the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative in 1996 to help the world’s poorest countries clear billions of dollars worth of unsustainable debt.
But Africa is facing another potential debt crisis today, with around 40 per cent of low-income countries in the region now in debt distress or at high risk of it, according to an IMF report released a year ago.

Nagy, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Africa for African Affairs said “we went through this, just in the last 20 years, this big debt forgiveness for a lot of African countries,’’ referring to the HIPC programme.
“ I certainly would not be sympathetic, and I do not think my administration would be sympathetic to that kind of situation,’’ he told reporters.
Under Donald Trump’s administration, the U.S. has criticised China for pushing poor countries into debt, mainly through lending for large-scale infrastructure projects.
Nagy has warned that those nations risk losing control of strategic assets if they cannot repay the Chinese loans.
Sri Lanka formally handed over commercial activities in its main southern port in the town of Hambantota to a Chinese company in 2017 as part of a plan to convert $6 billion of loans that Sri Lanka owes China into equity.
U.S. officials have warned that a strategic port in the tiny Horn of Africa nation of Djibouti could be next, a prospect the government there has denied.
From 2000 to 2016, China loaned around $125 billion to the continent, according to data from the China-Africa Research Initiative at Washington’s Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
