MONDAY, 1ST JULY.


CHRIST OUR “REDEMPTION''

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7).

The word, “redemption” in the verse above is translated from the Greek, “apolutrosis,” which means deliverance, redemption, and more importantly, riddance. While these are synonyms of “apolutrosis,” it’s important to understand riddance in the context.

The Bible says, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:15). That’s God assuring His people of deliverance. But now, He has become your riddance, meaning that it doesn’t matter what trouble you get into; He plucks you out; He’ll rid you of that trouble.

Proverbs 12:13 says, “...But the righteous shall come out of trouble” (ASV). That means the righteous may or could get into trouble, but there’s a guarantee of deliverance: Christ! Christ is his deliverance! The mess you’re in could have been self-inflicted or a result of misjudgements; Christ is your assurance that you’re coming out of the trouble, because He’s your riddance. Glory to God!

Christ being your redemption (riddance) means He makes up for your errors. Every mistake, every sin, has been laid to His charge. He’s obligated to save you. He’ll help you out of any quagmire, not because you earned it by your works or efforts, but because you have a ransom in Christ Jesus. He plucks your feet out of the miry clay (Psalm 40:2). Hallelujah!
So, when you make a mistake or get into trouble, be bold to call on Him. He’s not intimidated by your troubles.

No wonder the Psalmist said, “But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psalm 59:16). He’s your deliverance and your Deliverer; your Rescuer; the One who plucks you out of trouble. Glory to His Name forevermore!

CONFESSION

I have my riddance in Christ. It doesn’t matter what troubles come my way; it doesn’t matter what adversities I face; they’re of no effect, because Christ is my riddance. He plucks my feet out of the miry clay. Praise God!

Dear Lord, from the depth of my heart, I acknowledge Your faithfulness towards me! You’ve qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light, having freely given me all grace! Thank You for making my life glorious and making me the effulgence of Your righteousness, beauty, wisdom, and grace.

I thank You for Your eternal love for me, demonstrated in granting me the Holy Spirit to live in me and guide me into all truth. Not only have I received Him into my spirit, but I consistently fellowship with Him in truth and love. Therefore, He imparts me with knowledge, wisdom, and guidance in all my affairs, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THEME: BACKSLIDING: A NEGATIVE REBIRTH.

MEMORISE:


The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. Proverbs 14:14

READ: Daniel 4:28-33

28 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

MESSAGE

The spiritual regeneration experience can either be positive or negative. The type that Jesus recommended to Nicodemus in John 3:3-5 is the positive kind. Describing it, the Holy Spirit says in 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

However, there is also the negative kind of rebirth. When a person who was filled with good works turns around and begin to behave badly, such a person is manifesting the symptoms of negative rebirth. The Bible refers to this as backsliding. According to today’s memory verse, a “backsliding”. According to today’s memory verse, a backslider begins to behave abnormally, exalting personal satisfaction above God’s will.

King Nebuchadnezzar’s transformation in today’s Bible reading demonstrates what negative rebirth is all about. In the twinkling of an eye, he changed from a royal majesty to an animal, to the extent that he began to graze like cattle! When a child of God suddenly develops the appetite for alcohol, cigarettes, pornography or extramarital affairs, he or she has experienced a negative rebirth. Don’t be surprised therefore when you see holiness preachers of yesteryear beginning to say that holiness is an illusion-they have undergone a negative rebirth. Are you in a backslidden state? My prayer for you is that the Almighty God will restore you, and every satanic appetite for sin shall vanish from your life in Jesus’ Name.

Why did Nebuchadnezzar experience negative rebirth? The answer lies in Daniel 4:27- he refused to take heed when God’s prophet warned him to turn from his wicked ways. It is amazing that in spite of the miracles that Nebuchadnezzar experienced, including seeing the Son of God walking around in the fiery furnace, he continued to be arrogant before God of heaven (Daniel 3:22-25). In like manner, is it not surprising that in spite of reality of HIV/AIDS, some people still practice prostitution and have several people patronizing them? It is more disheartening when one sees Christians or ministers of God for that matter going back to their old vomit and engaging in sexual immorality and fraudulent practices. Are you one of such people? God is saying to you today in Ezekiel 18:31:

“Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

It is time for you to repent so that times of refreshing can be poured over your life (Acts 3:19).

ACTION POINT:

Examine your life today to see where you need positive rebirth through genuine repentance. If the Lord is speaking to you on this matter, go ahead and repent without further delay.

TOPIC: 
THE WORD OF GOD – THE BLESSING CONTAINER

SCRIPTURE: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 16:17

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To despise the Word of God is to despise the blessing of God.

The Word of God is a mine of unsearchable treasure. The Word is pregnant with many benefits for the children of God. One of such benefits is the Blessing of God. 

Events at creation confirm that the Word of God is the container of the blessing of God; God’s Word is the depot of the Blessing of God. 

Let me give you an example: when God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Bible said, God blessed them and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it… (Genesis 1:28). It was the Word of God that blessed Adam and Eve; only by His Word spoken upon them, the Blessing also came upon them. This implies that if God wants to bless a person, nation or generation, there is nothing He is going to do beyond speaking the Word. God does nothing outside His Word. So, to despise the Word of God is to despise the Blessing of God.

To further illustrate this fact, in Matthew 16:13-18, Peter got an accurate revelation of Jesus Christ, who is also the Word, and by that revelation, a blessing was pronounced on him.  So, the revelation of the Word triggers the release of the blessing. 

Beloved, to be in possession of the Word of God is to be in possession of the blessing of God; to despise or lack the Word is to be vulnerable to the curses of life. God’s Word is the cure for the curses of life and the guarantee of the Blessing of God.
Remember this: To despise the Word of God is to despise the blessing of God.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Make demands on the grace to study the Word of God.
2. Determine to study God’s Word consistently.
3. Ask God to open your eyes to fresh revelations from His Word.

Welcome to this new quarter and 2nd half of 2019! Today’s scripture Verse 30 says: “The Lord your God which goeth before you, He shall fight for you…” That is a strong prophetic word to a user of today’s devotional concerning the Anakims (Giants – obstacles and challenges) on your pathway in 2019! That is the reason why you can face that Goliath (obstacles to your joy). *Lift up your hands now and declare boldly many times:* “For every obstacle or mountain that crosses or is crossing my pathway, the Lord shall fight for me in this 2nd half of 2019! Therefore, I shall not fear and I shall not be ashamed.”

Even when the mountain called, “Pharoah” was about to crush about 2 million Jews by the Red Sea, did God not show up at the last minute? Hold your peace and keep declaring daily that the battle is the Lord’s even in the 2nd half of 2019! Keep declaring that the LORD will fight for you even as you prepare to do the 14-days WORLDWIDE fast (7th-20th July 2019)! Get your “War Against Haman-14” booklet now and start cutting down on your food intake!

The last day of the fast will be anointing service at Lagos Mountain where I shall lay hands on everyone present as I am commanded! Oh! The Lord will silence the tongues that are backbiting you! He will turn the laughter of your enemies to tears! The battle is the Lord’s! *Don’t run from obstacles! When you don’t confront that mountain, a journey of 11 days becomes a journey of 40 years!* Did he not know that the giants were there before He said to the Jews, “Go up and possess it” (Deuteronomy 1:21). *“An age is called ‘dark’ not because the light fails to shine, but because the people refuse to see it”* (James Michener).

Don’t give up! It takes more courage to trust the Shepherd than to confront the mountain most times, but you must confront that mountain! God’s way sometimes is through the deep seas and His path sometimes through the great waters (Big problems). *Man can crush any mountain with the double-barrel weapon called “PERSEVERANCE and PERSISTENCE!”* Hold on to God because ‘problems’ are signs that there is great profit ahead! Mount up, move on; damn the darkness, speed the dawn. You will win because the battle is the Lord’s! Pray now!

DOUBLE HONOUR

READ: 1 Timothy 5:17-24

MEMORISE:

Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour (Romans 13:7)

EXPOSITION

Paul told his spiritual son, Timothy, 'Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine' (1 Tim. 5:17). Paul wanted double honour for the elders. The elders in this regard are the church leaders (the Presbyters). They are the ministers of the church and servants of God.

Double honour" for those elders of the church who labour over the church implies respect, care, love, encouragement and motivation. Paul wanted the church and everyone to show love, care, respect to church ministers and servants of God. They must be properly renumerated and motivated to work.
One of the best ways to honour the elderly is to make necessary provisions to meet their needs. They should not be left to suffer, or be destitute. Those churches who joke with the welfare of their ministers are like small kids playing around adders' hole, for God doesn't joke with His anointed servants.

Never you insult, disrespect or dishonour God's servants (Psa. 105:14,15). It is a pity that those foolish kids who disrespected Elisha never lived to tell the story of their foolishness (2 Kgs. 2:23,24). The fact that some so-called men of God are perpetrating unwholesome, disrespectful acts, doesn't serve as license to disrespect the true ministers of God. God wants double honour for His ministers. Give them. You are indirectly giving it to God, their caller.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, let Your ministers be men/women of honour and personal integrity.
2. Lord, deliver our church leaders from the snare of the devil, and give them victory over affairs of the flesh.
3. Lord, help ministers of the gospel who are demotivated, worn, wearied, and on the verge of quitting, to regain their strength and standing in You.
