RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

WEDNESDAY, 10TH JULY.

BUILDING HIS TEMPLE

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).

In the Old Testament, there was the first tabernacle, built by Moses, and later, a second tabernacle that was built by Solomon. Then there was the third one and this time, Herod built it, and it was a magnificent temple.

Coming to the New Testament, the Lord Jesus was the first temple. He said in John 2:19, referring to Himself, “…Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The second temple is you, for the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:16, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God…?” Then, the third temple is the Church.

Just as it took Herod, a non-Jew, and the Jews in his day, to build that third magnificent temple, it’s taking the “Jews” and “Gentiles” that have come into Christ to build this third temple—the Church. Each one of us is responsible for building this third temple, the present-day Church.

For every new soul you lead to Christ, you’re adding another material in the building of this temple; you’re beautifying God’s house. This is what our sponsorship and distribution of Rhapsody of Realities, and all our other outreaches around the world are about! We’re building God’s temple. Hallelujah!

This is a job for every one of us; we’re co-labourers with the Lord in building His temple: “For we are labourers together with God…” (1 Corinthians 3:9). Take your service in the Gospel to a higher level. Allow no distractions whatsoever. Take your mind away from yourself. Think more about Him, and the expansion, the growth, spread and influence of His Kingdom.

He said in Matthew 6:33, “…seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” He already made everything you require for life and godliness available to you (2 Peter 1:3). Therefore, focus all your energies and passion on joining Him to build His Church, touching and transforming lives around the world. Praise God!

CONFESSION

I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it’s the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes. I’m committed to the spread of the Gospel, bringing men out of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. I’m changing and transforming lives every day, for the glory of Christ. Hallelujah!

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

10TH JULY.

I affirm that my faith is alive! I am backed by God to rule and dominate my world with His Word. The Word of faith is in my heart and my mouth; as I speak it forth, it produces the desired result. I obtain promises, produce righteousness everywhere I go and effect great changes by the Word of God through

faith. I am an heir of God, I’ve overcome the world and its rudiments. Hallelujah! I am a member of the household of God; thus, I am connected to an endless stream of prosperity, riches, and glory. Lack is far away from me because I am the seed of Abraham and a joint-heir with Christ! I will always eat of the good of the land, for I have an inestimable and inexhaustible inheritance in Christ Jesus. I am exceptional;

I function with the ability of the Spirit always, not just in my desire and readiness to start up any endeavour, but also in bringing them to excellent fruition. I am assured of a life of honour, dignity, and glory because I apply diligence in every area of life. Halleluiah! I am made forever because God’s divine power has given me everything I require to live joyfully and victoriously every day! Success, prosperity, divine health, promotions, and the glorious life are my inheritance and vital experience in Christ Jesus! Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Fixing pension data challenge with technology

CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has introduced an Enhanced Contributor Registration System (ECRS) to solve the challenges in the Contributor Registration System (CRS). PenCom advised Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders to approach their Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to provide their Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs) initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria as well as National Identity Number (NIN), among other biodata. The ECRS and deployment of BVN and NIN in RSAs’ management will promote financial inclusion and boost contributors’ confidence, writes COLLINS NWEZE.

In this new world, technology is seen as the way to go. It is embraced by institutions that think and act ahead. Technology does not only make agencies’ operations seamless, but it also brings efficiency and trust to their services.

For the National Pension Commission (PenCom), one of the biggest challenges confronting Nigeria’s pension industry is cleaning up data of contributors and pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Thus, to fix this challenge, it became a priority for PenCom to transit from the use of the precursor application, the Contributory Registration System (CRS), to a more robust ECRS to enable the Commission entrench efficiency, transparency and contributors confidence in its operations. The Bank Verification Number (BVN) introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is also helping the commission to achieve desired result by providing unified data on every contributor.
PenCom said the  ECRS was designed, developed and deployed to provide  a more dynamic and friendly-user interface even as it fully addresses the issues identified with the CRS. Thus, the deployment of the ECRS, the commission said, would enhance the integrity of contributors’ data and also provide a platform for registration of Micro Pension Plan participants and Cross Border participants, including Nigerians living abroad and foreigners living in Nigeria who wish to contribute under the CPS.

“Electronic submission of employer code requests by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) on employers and the full automation of the process of issuing employer codes. Updates and edits of contributors’ information on the National Databank maintained by the National Pension Commission by the PFAs. The deployment of the ECRS is a major step towards the introduction of the transfer widow, which will enable contributors change to the PFAs of their choice, in line with Section 13 of the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2014,” the report said.

The Commission said the ECRS has been integrated with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for authenticating the uniqueness of individuals seeking to register under the CPS. “The ECRS is an electronic platform for the submission of requests by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) for the registration of contributors and issuance of Personal Identification Numbers (PINs). Consequently the Commission has transited from the use of the existing Contributor Registration System (CRS) to the ECRS,” the statement said.

The Pension Reform Act mandates every employer with a minimum of three employees to open an RSA for the workers, which would be funded by both employer and employees. The employer is required to pay ten (10) per cent while the workers are required to contribute eight per cent of total monthly emolument.

Under the CPS, the PFAs manage the funds, which are in the custody of the Pension Fund Custodians (PFCs).
PenCom Acting Director-General Mrs Aisha Dahir-Umar said the Commission introduced the ECRS because of the positive impact which technology can make on the pension industry.

She explained that the ECRS consists of six major functions: contributor registration to generate unique pin, recapture for  contributors, bio-data, signature and picture update, where applicable, temporary PIN for employer-initiated registration and Retirement Savings Account (RSA) verification service.
Mrs Dahir-Umar said the assets under the CPS had continued to rise hitting N9.03 trillion “since the introduction of the CPS and I am pleased to note that appreciable progress has been made consistently”. According to her, the statistics are evidence that the CPS has improved access to retirement benefits for employees in both the public (Federal Government) and the private sectors.

For contributors’data integrity, the enhanced registration system also has the following capabilities: dashboard availability for Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to view status of their requests and reports and PFAs can also receive notifications via Dashboard, emails and Error Codes.

Head, Corporate Communications, PenCom, Peter Aghahowa, said the agency’s  staff could also use the ECRS to view status of submissions by PFAs, generate reports and approve requests that require authorisation. In addition to download responses, latest upgrades, patches, employer codes generation, the system also has capacity for National ID verification with NIMC.

The system went live on June 24, after PenCom assessed the environmental readiness of PFAs and pilot run for the PFAs to use ECRS. This development is significant for the pension industry as it may pave the way for the implementation of other critical policies hitherto prevented by poor contributors’ data.
One of such policies is the transfer window provided in the Pension Reform Act, 2014 (PRA, 2014), allowing RSA holders to switch PFAs if they so desire. Under the CPS, a comprehensive and reliable data of RSA holders had been a huge challenge, a development some sources said was the reason why PenCom has been reluctant in opening up the transfer window.

The PRA, 2014 provides that an employee may not more than once in a year, transfer his or her RSA from one PFA to another without producing any reason for such transfer. Section 13 of the Pension Reform Act 2014 also provides that, “subject to guidelines issued by the commission, a holder of a retirement savings account maintained under this Act may not, more than once in a year, transfer his account from one Pension Fund Administrator to another.” Despite this provision, PenCom is yet to authorise PFAs to allow RSA holders to transfer their RSAs from one PFA to another.

PenCom recently directed RSA holders to provide their National Identity Number (NIN) to their fund managers.  This involved both active and retired RSA holders and is in line with Federal Government’s policy mandating Nigerians to have a NIN.

NIMC has the mandate to implement the National Identity System (NIS) as part of the Federal Government’s strategy to have a clean NIS. PenCom advised RSA holders to approach their PFAs to provide their BVNs, NIN as well as other biodata. These innovations may be an opportunity for PFAs to clean up their databases to combat identity theft as well as prevent fraud in the industry.

A Lagos-based pension contributor, Mathias Abiodun, said a clean database will  pave way for the introduction of the transfer window that will enable RSA holders to switch accounts from one PFA to another. He said the role of pension funds in economic development has moved into the focus of public attention, particularly Nigeria’s growing need for long-term capital.

Abiodun explained that successful mobilisation of pension fund assets and contributions to the growth of any nation were essential policy objectives. “For the first time, our country can boast of a long-term funding base and the impact to date has included the funding of the government and government projects, development of the capital market as well as increased foreign development inflows,” he added.

Pension assets on the rise

The PenCom data showed that total pension assets have risen to N9.03 trillion as at March 31, up from the N7.44 trillion it was in January, last year.
The Commission said these assets have been prudently invested in 24 major asset classes to yield interests to the contributors. Giving a breakdown of how the assets were invested, the Commission said the Federal Government’s securities took a lion-share of the investment as it received well over N6.51 trillion, representing 72.9 per cent of the total assets.

Specifically, the Federal Government bond got N 4,458,806.38 of the funds, representing 49.37 per cent of the total assets; while N1.94 trillion was invested in treasury bills (21.44 per cent); N11.96 billion in agency bonds (NMRC & FMBN), (0.13 per cent); N94.11 billion in Sukuk (1.04 per cent) and N8.51 billion in Green Bonds, (0.09 percent).

The commission also said in line with the Multi-fund structure, RSA Fund 1, witnessed N12.73 billion investment and RSA Fund 11, recorded N3.99 trillion investment, RSA Fund 111, saw N2.15 trillion investment while RSA Fund IV, recorded N732.13 billion investment.
The report showed that N596.61 billion, which was 6.54 percent of the funds, was invested in domestic ordinary shares; while N62.59 billion, amounting to 0.69 percent was invested in foreign ordinary shares.

Also, N144.31 billion (1.60 per cent) was invested in state government’s securities; corporate bonds got N463.99 billion (5.4 percent); corporate infrastructure bonds, received N8.64 billion, (0.10 percent); corporate green bonds, N5.46 billion(0.06 percent); supra-national bonds got N5.37 billion (0.06 per cent); local money market, N874.39 billion, (9.68 percent) commercial papers, N64.46 billion (0.71 percent); banks – N809.94 billion (8.97 per cent), among others.
Financial pundits commended the management of PenCom for the implementation of the Pension Reform Act, which has led to more contributors embracing the CPS and deepening of the financial system. They insisted that reforms in the sector have raised accumulations from contributors to N9.03 trillion, as well as brought brighter hopes to retirees.

Airtel Africa begins trading on NSE

Airtel Africa Plc will today begin trading on its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Airtel Africa will list its entire paid-up share capital on the NSE under a dual listing arrangement that provides additional window after the telco’s primary listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
The NSE yesterday confirmed that arrangements have been concluded for the admission of the shares of Airtel Africa to its official list today. The NSE has suspended the listing last Friday due to inability of Airtel Africa to meet some listing requirements in time for the listing. Airtel Africa subsequently confirmed at the weekend that it had complied with the outstanding listing requirements.
Many sources at the Exchange confirmed the listing arrangement. Airtel Africa has already credited allotted shares to the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc’s accounts of subscribers to its initial public offering (IPO)., one of the outstanding issues that stalled the listing last weekend.
Under the IPO, Airtel Africa allotted 39.23 million ordinary shares to qualified institutional investors and high net worth investors in Nigeria while 704.82 million shares were allotted to other global investors in various jurisdictions outside Nigeria. The shares will be listed at N363 per share. Airtel Africa will be listed on the main board of the Exchange with initial market capitalisation of N1.36 trillion.

Airtel Africa’s shares are expected to be activated on the live trading engine at the NSE in post-midday trading and investors may be able to trade for almost an hour on the shares of Africa’s second largest telco. The management of Airtel Africa will be honoured with a brief ceremony and the beating of the closing gong for the stock market by 2.30pm to commemorate the listing.

Airtel Africa’s Nigerian subsidiary, Airtel Networks Limited, second largest telecommunication company in Nigeria, accounts for more than one-thirds of the group’s turnover.
Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Mr Oscar Onyema, noted that Airtel Africa will be making history as the first telecom company to simultaneously list on both the LSE and NSE.
He said the listing on the Exchange reaffirms Airtel Africa’s long-term commitment to expanding opportunities for Nigerians in addition to providing everyday services to them.
“This listing serves to deepen the telecoms and technology sector for investors and provides an opportunity for a wider group of Nigerians to be part of the African telecoms growth story. This listing is a promising development in Africa with Airtel Africa being the second company to have its ordinary shares listed on both the London Stock Exchange and the Nigerian Stock Exchange,” Onyema said.
He pointed out that the dual listing gives credence to the successful partnership between the LSE and NSE urging similarly situated companies to explore the different opportunities for raising capital on the NSE’s platform.
“Airtel Africa’s listing on the NSE will not only showcase the company as an established player in the African telecommunication industry, but will enable the firm to actualize its strategic vision “To enrich the lives of customers”,” Onyema said.
He assured that the NSE will continue to support the telecom industry and the real sector by promoting efficient capital formation and allocation, enabling industries to raise long-term funds for growth and expansion of their business to reduce unemployment and sustain Nigeria’s economic growth and development.

Airtel Africa will be trailing its closest rival, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, as the third largest quoted company. MTN Nigeria, the largest telco, was listed in May 2019 with a market capitalisation of N1.83 trillion, making it the second largest quoted company after Dangote Cement Plc.
The listing of MTN Nigeria had triggered a massive rally that market capitalisation of Nigerian equities to a gain of N2.726 trillion in May 2019, one of the two positive months for the Nigerian stock market so far this year.
Market analysts also expected a reasonable enthusiasm for Airtel Africa on debut at the NSE but the wider distribution of its shares due to the IPO may moderate the pricing trend compared with MTN Nigeria’s pricing upsurge. MTN Nigeria had sustained a day-on-day maximum allowable gain for many days, setting off a major debate about the propriety of the pricing mechanism. However, the NSE affirmed that the pricing mechanism was in line with established market forces.
Airtel Africa’s debut trading on the LSE was however weak, dropping by as much as 16 per cent during the first trading session.

Chúc các bạn may mắn nhé!

Promise Oguegbu, a 28-year-old South Korean returnee arrested for killing an accountant, Rasaki Balogun, and his mistress, Muyibat Alabi, at No. 16, Taiwo Oke Street, Victory Estate in Ejigbo area of Lagos State, has accused the man’s wife of masterminding the crime.

An investigation into the murder of Rasaki Balogun and his mistress Muyibat Alabi, after the late accountant's wife Akorede discovered the corpses, got Oguegbu arrested. The murder suspect when paraded before newsmen on Tuesday by the state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, claimed he was bribed with the deceased's car after seeing Akorede pour a substance into Balogun and Alabi’s mouths.

It was also gathered that Oguegbu who was arrested in Imo State, allegedly took Balogun’s ATM card which he had used in making withdrawals from his account.

Quote:“I just came back from South Korea. On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, my landlord’s wife (Akorede) came around and called me to assist her with something. I asked her what it was and she said I should join her in the main building.
“When I got there, I saw a huge man in the sitting room, the man ordered me to tie the landlord girlfriend’s hands. My landlord and his girlfriend were shouting for help, but there was nothing I could do because I was afraid.
“I did not kill my landlord; it was my landlord’s wife who poured something into his mouth and that of his girlfriend. I saw her (Akorede) doing it. She gave me the key to her husband’s car and said I should not expose her. I did not report to the police because I was scared.
“The police arrested the woman (Akorede) and the man who was with her, but I don’t know where they are at the moment. I am not the one to carry their cross; they are not innocent of this crime. The police should also bring them to answer to the crime.”
However, a police source said he couldn't identify Akorede when she was brought in for an identification parade.
Quote:“When the woman was invited for identification parade, the suspect couldn’t identify her.”

Nigeria has the highest number of children out of school in the world - UNESCO

According to a new report by UN's cultural and education agency, UNESCO, Nigeria has the highest number of children out of school in the world.

It estimates that at least 10 million Nigerian children, mostly girls, are missing out on education. Despite the country having a law making school attendance compulsory, millions of children still roam the streets to beg or to do manual labour.

The government says that a school-feeding programme - launched in 2016 - is benefiting close to 10 million children and is helping to keep them in school. However, this intervention is facing allegations of corruption and dishonest dealings by some of the officials handling it at local levels, a situation that the authorities acknowledge and say they're trying to address, the report said.

Unesco says the world will miss its target of having full transition of children to primary school by 2030 as part of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and warns that at least one in six children will be dropping out by then.

N30m Fraud: Herbalist sacks his counsel as court sends him back to prison till September 23rd

[Image: 66147432_2424957427526733_31950929754157...e=5DBAE840]

A self-acclaimed herbalist, Jamiu Isiaka who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC before a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has been sent back to prison till September 23, 2019, even as he disengaged the services of his counsel.
A statement from the agency says Isiaka who is standing trial on a six-count charge bordering on impersonation, conspiracy and fraud,  is accused of impersonating a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, among other prominent Nigerians to defraud a Korean, Keun Sig Kim to the tune of N30million.
His trial took a new dimension at the resumed hearing on July 9, 2019 as his counsel, R.A. Kamal, told the court that he had been instructed to withdraw from the case, following his inability to secure his bail before the court.
“At the last adjourned date, after the Court overruled his bail application, his relatives told me that they no longer need our services as legal practitioners, in view of the above, we shall be withdrawing our appearance from the case,” he said.
Counsel for the EFCC, Andrew Akoja, kicked against the application, arguing that Kamal ought to have informed the prosecution about the development after the last sitting.
However, Justice Abdulgafar granted the application and adjourned the case to September 23, 2019.

Oby Ezekwesili Slams Buhari, Says "Becoming President Was Buhari’s Only Outcome"
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Former presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that becoming president was his ‘one and only outcome’, Igbere TV reports.

Mrs Ezekwesili said this in series of tweets on Tuesday.

“It is more than obvious that ‘Becoming President’ was the one and only Outcome for @MBuhari. Or what explains the fact that he seldom shows any sense of urgency to tackling the numerous governance challenges that keep multiplying? Bear the title, @NGRPresident for nothing?” Ezekwesili asked.

The former education minister added: “Do we at all have a President in office these days? This is a legitimate question that should be answered by @AsoRock. How can a Government be so oblivious of the temperature of the country it is supposedly ‘governing’?

“Let’s say @AsoRock says we do have a President, can they please let him know that our Constitution has no provision for Imperial Presidency? He is not a king.

“This country is neither being led nor governed right now.@AsoRock, let this be told whom this message belongs.”

Presidential panel demands N684bn oil block renewal fee from Mobil

                            [Image: 9790386_mobillogo_jpeg3dfe00350d76380a7d50e493e1e5d9e0]
The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property says an oil giant, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (ExxonMobil), is indebted to the Federal Government to the tune of $1.6bn.

The money translates to about N684bn at N360 to $1 exchange rate.

According to the panel, which is led by Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, the money represents the balance of the renewal fee of $2.5bn (N900bn) for three oil blocks, Oil Mining Leases 67, 68 and 70, which the company has allegedly refused to pay since 2009.

The panel’s chairman, who said the investigation into the indebtedness was ignited by a petition by human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), told our correspondent that the SPIP was planning to report the company to the United States of American government. He stated, “The petition against Mobil was filed before the panel by one of Nigeria’s illustrious lawyers, Femi Falana, SAN.

“USA has a law known as Foreign Corrupt Practices Act 1977 which prohibits American companies doing business abroad from indulging in corrupt practices; the panel shall lodge a complaint against Mobil to the USA government.

“USA will open a criminal investigation against Mobil for economic sabotage against the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

Falana confirmed to our correspondent on Sunday that he petitioned the panel to investigate the alleged payment of only $600m (N216bn) out of payable fee of $2.5bn (N900bn) for the renewal of the three oil blocks since 2009.

The panel’s June 13, 2018 letter addressed to Mobil’s Managing Director at Mobil House, Victoria Island, Lagos, giving the company three weeks to pay the alleged outstanding balance of $1.9bn to the Federation Account.

The letter with reference number SPIP/MPN/2018.VOL.1/1 and signed by Obono-Obla read in part, “In 2009, Mobil Producing, instead of liquidating the $2.5bn, elected to pay only $600m into the Federation Account.

But ExxonMobil has denied the alleged indebtedness in its reply dated July 5, 2018, and addressed to the SPIP chairman.

“By this letter, you are required within three weeks of the receipt of this letter to show cause why Mobil Producing should not be subjected to a criminal investigation by your failure to pay the outstanding balance of $1.9bn into the Federation Account thereby contributing to the economic adversity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

But ExxonMobil has denied the alleged indebtedness in its reply dated July 5, 2018, and addressed to the SPIP chairman.

The letter with reference number MPN-LAW-FMJ-OBO-0718-0059 and signed by the company’s Executive Director and General Counsel, Sadiq Adamu, stated that the OML 67, 68 and 70 were renewed in 2009 in full compliance with the provision of the leases, the Petroleum Act, other applicable laws and the renewal terms.

CBN injects $956m, CNY63m into forex market

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last month expended over $956 million to defend the nation’s currency, the Naira, at the various segments of the foreign exchange (forex) markets.

This is in addition to more than 63 million Chinese Yuan (CNY) released for the Renminbi-denominated Letters of Credit (LoC) for businessmen plying their trade along the Chinese corridor. The figure was arrived at based on the weekly amount released by the apex bank in its forex report.

The month kicked off with the injection of $294.7 million and CNY31.4 million into the Retail

Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS) segment of the market on June 7. It was followed by the $210 million intervention on June 11, 2019.

A breakdown of the figure shows that authorised dealers in the wholesale segment of the market were offered $100 million, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment received the sum of $55 million. The sum of $55 million was allocated to customers requiring foreign exchange for invisibles such as tuition fees, medical payments and Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), among others.

On Tuesday, June 25, the apex bank again offered authorised dealers in the wholesale segment $100 million, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and the invisibles segments each received the sum of $55 million.

Three days later, on June 28, this bank of last resort, in continuation of its intervention in the inter-bank forex market injected the sum of $242.04 million into the retail Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS) and CNY 32.3 million in the spot and short tenored forwards segment of the inter-bank forex market.

Its Director of Corporate Communications Department, Isaac Okorafor, disclosed that the intervention was for requests in the agricultural and raw materials sectors, adding that the Chinese Yuan, on the other hand, was for Renminbi-denominated LoC.

Okorafor expressed satisfaction over the stability of the foreign exchange which, according to him, was largely due to sustained intervention by the CBN. He gave assurance that the apex bank would remain committed to ensuring that all the sectors of the forex market continue to enjoy access to the needed foreign exchange.

He added that with improved inflow of forex, the exchange rate had remained stable around N360/$1 for the past 27 months.

Investigation revealed that between April 2018 and last March, CBN injected over $42.3 billion into the forex market to ensure liquidity in its various segments.

An analysis of the intervention showed that the apex bank injected about $7.89 billion into the market in the second quarter of 2018. This rose to $11.88 billion in the third quarter.

However, the figure dropped to $10.72 billion in the fourth quarter before rising to $11.81 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2019.

During this period, CBN sustained its interventions at both the inter-bank and the Bureau De Change (BDC) segments. However, the average exchange rate of the Naira to the dollar at the inter-bank segment depreciated by 0.04 per cent to N306. 84 to a dollar in the first quarter, compared to the level at the end of 2018.

Commenting on the impact of the interventions in stabilising the forex market, Okorafor attributed the relative stability in the market largely to the continued liquidity injection of the apex bank.

The CBN mouthpiece then assured the public that the apex bank remained committed to ensuring that all the sectors continued to enjoy access to the forex required for the business concerns, whether in United States dollars or Chinese Yuan.

He said the apex bank would continue to come up with measures that would ensure the value of the Naira appreciates in the forex market.

He stated: “The Importers and Exporters (I&E) window was formed basically to sustain that market. We also have international money transfer operators. They also bring money that we also allowed to reflect market realities and that is another autonomous source.

“The currency swap has helped to stabilise the market. Because these are the demand that would have found itself in the dollar segment of the market.

“So we have been able to remove that and that also has helped to maintain stability.”

He said the apex bank would continue to sustain its intervention in the forex market until availability of enough liquidity in the market

He added that the apex bank would continue to sustain its intervention until enough liquidity in the market.

Mighty Victory For Atiku, As Tribunal Set To Cancel Buhari’s Million Votes In Kano, Kebbi, 9 Other States

                          [Image: atiku-buhari-inec.jpg?fit=500%2C424&ssl=1]
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its Candidate in the February 23, 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, presented their first set of 6 witnesses at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, in their bid to prove their petition challenging the outcome of the polls.

They are by their petition filed before the Justice Mohammed Garba-led Tribunal of 5 Justices, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the poll.

The Petitioners presented their witnesses, just as there are indications that they will challenge the results of the Presidential election in 11 States where Buhari got millions of votes. The States include Kano, Kebbi, and 9 others.

Monday was the third of the 10 days the Petitioners were allotted to present their case.
A former Ally of Buhari, Buba Galadima, was the first witness presented by the Petitioners, at the Monday proceedings, contending that Buhari was not academically qualified to contest the Presidential election.

Others included 3 Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ad hoc workers, serving in different capacities during the election, who testified that they transmitted the results of the election electronically, as INEC trained them to do.
Others were PDP Agents, who alleged harassment and intimidation of voters at their Polling Units.

The witnesses, in turn, were led by the Lead Counsel for the Petitioners, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, to adopt as their Evidence-in-Chief, their witness statements on oath, which they had earlier deposed to.
They were subsequently cross-examined by the Respondents’ Lawyers.
Under cross-examination by Buhari’s Lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Galadmia denied the claim that he fell out with Buhari, after the President refused to appoint him as a Minister, in 2015.
He said that his quarrel with Buhari arose from the alleged injustice in the President’s administration, lack of inclusiveness, and failure of the administration to secure Nigeria.
“You fell out with the 2nd Respondent (Buhari), because he did not make you a Minister in 2015”, Olanipekun asked.
Responding, Galadima said: “No. You should know that I fought all the previous governments since 1999, because of injustice.
“We made good promises to Nigerians, including justice, and to secure the country, which he has failed to do.
“It has always been part of my characteristics to fight injustice.”

Reminded that his daughter, Zainab Buba-Galadima, remained a Technical Assistant to Buhari, Galadima denied, saying that he is only aware that she was appointed a member of “Films Board in Jos”.
He noted that with 2 first degrees and 2 Masters degrees, his daughter is qualified to be appointed by the government.

“She is a qualified Nigerian. She is a mature Nigerian, and who by her right having worked for the President, deserves to be appointed.
“She is a member of Film Corporation Board, and there are many of those who have not worked for the President, that got bigger positions like Minister.”

He confirmed that he had supported Buhari in the 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 elections, until the 2019 election; yet he insisted that Buhari is not qualified to run for the Presidency.
Asked by Olanipekun if he was aware that Buhari addressed the nation in English language while being the Head of State between 1983 and 1985, Galadima said: “As Military Head of State, he addressed the country in the languages he understood, which might include English.”

While being cross-examined by the APC Lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, the witness said that he was not in the country when the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, displayed the list of Presidential Candidates for the last election, and so he could not have contested the President’s Candidacy.

He also stated that he was aware that there was no registered party called the Reformed APC, but maintained that he is still the Chairman of the group.
He however, revealed that he remains a member of the APC, since he had “not been sacked” from the party.
Galadima, a Spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organisation, said: “I am still a member of the APC. I have not been sacked. We are in court. I do not want to be subjudice.

“I am not a member of the PDP, but we have a memorandum of understanding with the PDP, to produce a God-fearing, good, and educated Leader.”

“Herdsmen returning from the South due to the rainy season, must respect the boundaries of Farmers and villagers, while the communities must refrain from attacking herdsmen”, Shehu said.

CBN vows to end 1.2m metric tons frozen poultry importation

CBN vows to end 1.2m metric tons frozen poultry importation

To grow local poultry production, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday vowed to stop the illegal importation of frozen poultry into Nigeria.

The apex bank said Benin Republic remains the primary channel from where poultry products illegally enter the country, even as it expressed worry over an estimated 1.2 million metric tonnes of poultry that comes into Nigeria.

The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, made the vow in Abuja during a meeting with Vice Chancellors of Universities on the university-based poultry revival programme.

According to him, the objective of the meeting was to enable stakeholders in the sector take a critical look at the existing poultry production infrastructure with a view to addressing the challenges.

Represented by CBN Deputy Governor, Economic Policy, Dr Okwu Nnanna, the Governor described the poultry sub-sector as the most commercialized of all Nigeria’s agricultural sub-sectors, stressing that the apex bank worrisome adding that measures are being taken by the apex bank was determined to check the ugly trend of influx of poultry products into Nigeria.

He said the sub- sector contributes about 25 per cent of agricultural Gross Domestic Product to the Nigerian economy with a current net worth of about N1.6 trillion.

He put the chicken population in Nigeria at about 165 million, pointing out that the birds produce approximately 650,000MT and 300,00MT of eggs and meat respectively.

He put the demand for birds at over 200 million, while the demand for eggs and meat are about 790,000MT and 1,500,000MT respectively.

This, according to him has resulted into a huge demand gap which unfortunately, is met by smuggling.

He said, “It is estimated that over 1.2 million MT of poultry meat is smuggled into Nigeria from Benin Republic by some unscrupulous Nigerians. This is really unfortunate, and we are poised to stop it.

“The Nigerian poultry sector faces high production costs, safety concerns due to lack of sanitary controls, and technical constraints in processing and marketing.

“Production costs are generally high due to lack of an integrated and automated industrial poultry sector. Poultry producers lack reliable access to inputs including chicks and feed as well as high costs of veterinary services.

“More importantly, is the problem of lack of access to low cost, long tenured finance, which though is not peculiar to the industry but most be resolved.”

In tackling these challenges, Emefiele said the CBN has deployed instruments through its interventions such as the Commercial Agriculture Credit Scheme, Real Sector Support Facility among others.

For example, the governor said the sum of N35.9bn has been released to 166 projects under CACS while N507m to 433 farmers and N238m for 112 projects were disbursed under the Agri-Business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme.

“We have also recently financed the pioneer egg-powder production company in Nigeria to the tune of N2bn under the Differentiated Cash Reserve Requirement-Real Sector Support Facility window,” he added.

In spite of these constraints, he said there remains a huge potential for the industry in Nigeria.

The governor stated, “The demand for poultry products is expanding as a result of population growth. The Nigeria population is projected at 400 million by 2050 and 280 million are projected to live in the cities, significantly increasing the demand for poultry products.

“Also, per capita consumption of chicken is still very low at 2.5kg in Nigeria, when compared to Brazil and South Africa at 30kg and 40 kg respectively, while per capita consumption of eggs in Nigeria is 60 eggs per annum compared to 250 to 300 eggs per annum in most advanced countries.

” The school feeding programme of the present administration also remains a huge potential yet to be fully tapped. Generally, poultry represents an important source of high quality animal protein.”

To unlock the potential of poultry producers, he said the CBN has initiating a university-based Poultry Revival Programme with the objectives to produce chicken meat and egg to reduce importation and close the existing demand and supply gap.

In his remarks, the National President, Poultry Association of Nigeria, Mr Ezekiel Ibrahim said the apex bank interventions would help stimulate the sector.

He added that poultry farmers are faced with huge challenges adding that loans by the CBN should be disbursed at a lower rate of five per cent.

The programme would also assist in raising a new crop of agropreneurs in modern poultry production, provide infrastructure that would support the sustainable production of poultry, and reduce pressure for foreign exchange demand through import substitution by local poultry production.

The CBN hopes to rely on the university based poultry production model because they have existing infrastructure, experience and human assets to enable production at reduced cost and in a competitive manner.

The apex bank has structured the programme to ensure that they can be accessed by those who need them the most and are ready to operate their facilities in a commercially viable manner.

Don’t Bring Back Ruga If You Don’t Want Nigeria To Disintegrate– Clark Warns PMB
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2019, 01:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against reintroducing Rural Grazing Areas (RUGA) in the country.

Mr Buhari had approved the creation of Ruga settlements for herdsmen across the nation without stakeholders carried along.

Though it is said to be optional, for interested states, the project was suspended largely due to the rejection of it in the South, fuelling speculation in some quarters that the government was out to grab lands for herders of Fulani extraction.

There are reports that the initiative will be reintroduced after been repackaged with presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, saying the federal government has gazetted lands for the project in the 36 states of the country.

Warning against the reintroduction, Clark while addressing journalists at his Abuja residence on Monday said the move will disintegrate the nation if brought back.

“Let us go back, we have been living with Fulani and their herds for very long time; even when I was young, they lived with us. When they are bringing their cows, they used their sticks and everybody gave way but today we see herdsmen armed with Ak-47 all over the country moving around, killing people, raping women, killing children and so forth, destroying farms and today not one single one has been arrested, no single one has been caught and his gun removed; that is the country we belong,” the elderstatesman said.

He wondered why the government wants to establish settlements for those it claimed were foreigners killing Nigerians if the present administration had no ulterior motives.

“Government is not interested in seeing that the herdsmen with arms that came from Niger, Libya and other places are addressed; they want those people to be settled in our midst. It is not the Fulani who are going round with cows that they want to settle. These (foreigners) are not the ones they want to settle. So I disagree with that project.”

Clark called on the federal government to withdraw the initiative rather than suspend it because it will not be acceptable to Nigerians.

He described the project is an abomination to the entire people of Nigeria made up of other ethnic nationals.

“They should now withdraw it completely. Whether they suspend it for another 10 years or so, if it comes back, Nigeria will not survive as a country. It is good they withdrew it. If they say they have just suspended it and they are bringing it back, no Nigerian will agree to it and that may be the beginning of the disintegration of this country. God forbid!”

While applauding the government’s effort at diversifying the economy, the elderstatesman suggested ranching as the solution to herders and farmers clashes.

“Ranching is the solution. If you want to maintain cattle rearing, it is ranching. That is what operates everywhere in the world. Even in less civilised developed countries in Africa. If you go to Brazil and East Africa, ranching is what they are doing. Even our founding fathers in the first republic established ranches. There were ranches at Obudu Cross River State, Ondo State and in the north. Nobody kicked against it but for you to introduce a settlement for resolving the problem between herdsmen and farmers is unthinkable,” he added.

Tongue Group Gives Buhari 14-day Ultimatum To Prosecute Goje
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2019, 01:24 PM - No Replies

The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), has given the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to prosecute Senator Danjuma Goje, Igbere TV reports.

The group said it will drag President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to court if they fail to immediately try Goje, at the expiration of the ultimatum.

Igbere TV recalls that the Federal Government had, through its lead counsel, strike out corruption charges against the former governor of Gombe State at the Plateau State High Court.

This comes less than 30 days after the former Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations stepped down his Senate Presidential ambition after a meeting with Buhari in Aso Rock.

Goje was being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly misappropriating over N5 billion between September and November 2010, when he held sway as governor.

Reacting to the development in a statement sent to Igbere TV, Chairman of HEDA, Mr. Olanrewaju Suraju said the withdrawal of the case cannot be justified “as it only solidified claims by providing more evidence that the corruption fight of the President has been compromised.”

Full Statement,

“The action of the FG confirms the suspicion that Goje trial has been waved aside because of his decision to step as the Senate President for President Mohammadu Buhari's prefered candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan.

“This withdrawal has no justification except to confirm the rife speculations that the case was compromised to meet "political considerations” as in previous cases taken over by the AGF office.

“The AGF had set "bitter precedents" that the fight against corruption is selective depending on the political camp the suspected culprits belong.

"The withdrawal is in bad taste and this group will deploy all the constitutional legal means to defend public interest in this particular case.

“The international community would be notified of this subversion of rule of law and justice by the present regime.

“Bilateral laws and agreement between Nigeria and other foreign nations will be explored to exposed both the government and the suspect. Constitutional provision on Nolle Prosequi is not to pervert justice but protect public interest.”

He drops his bag, in another locker, looks around and then enters the bank (notice the presence of a bank security guard) (the bag is a black sports school-like bag) ------- _

Agnes Asempana Of GCB Bank Commits Suicide In Ghana By Hanging
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2019, 11:28 AM - No Replies

Staff of the Nsawam Branch of the GCB Bank have been shocked over the death of their former colleague, Agnes Asempana who committed suicide by hanging.

They disclosed to MyNewsGh.com on Monday morning that the deceased never showed any signs of depression or gave any slightest idea that something was bothering her as at last Friday, July 5, 2019.

“We share jokes do things in common. There was nothing to suggest that she was faced with a problem or was troubled over something”, one of them revealed.

Agnes Asempana committed suicide by hanging at Ayekotse, a suburb of Suhum Municipality in the Eastern Region

Her partially Unclad body was found dangling in a room with a nylon rope fastened to her neck at the scene of the crime.

Sources reveal that the deceased last Friday, July 5, 2019, visited her two-bedroom apartment to pick some items only to commit suicide over what is yet to be established.

It was her younger brother, Bajerisong Lazarus who found her in that state at about 4pm when he went to visit her.

Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com has revealed that no external marks of violence were detected to suggest foul play.

The body has since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy, while the Police have commenced investigations into the incidents.

Colleagues are however shocked as to what could have triggered the deceased to take her own life in such a barbaric manner.

Close sources are pointing to the fact that it could be linked to a disappointment in relationship or job-related challenges which she has concealed.

Kano Man stabbed by BUK undergraduate wife after 7 months of marriage, accuses her of infidelity, releases evidence

Saheed Hussain has recovered and also held a press conference, in which he revealed what led to the fight that got him stabbed by his Bayero University law undergraduate wife, Hannan Saeed.

Recall that it was reported weeks ago that Saheed was left battling for his life at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, after being stabbed by his wife of 7 months. If you missed this, read here.

Hannan's claim of stabbing her husband while defending herself against the domestic abuse she was allegedly subjected to, was dispelled by Saheed who accused her infidelity and also recounted some incidents that led to the fight at the press conference.

Sharing his own side of the story yesterday, he said;

Quote:“I caught my wife dancing indecently in my parlour where she was recording the dance on her phone and sending the video clips to her boyfriends. I told her mother about it and she asked me if my wife’s elder sister and grandmother knew what was happening and she pleaded with me not to reveal it to anyone so as not to soil the image of their family.

"I challenged one of the boyfriends with whom my wife was exchanging voice notes but said he was not aware that my wife was a married woman. This is one of over 30 voice messages I found. I also have CCTV evidence on how my wife invited her lover from Abuja and had a session with him in a hotel in Bompai, on 26th of April. She was at the hotel from 10:13 a.m and stayed up to 12:16 pm. .

"Also on that same day, a Friday, I caught her taking drugs in my house. During the last Ramadan fast, she sprinkled drops of poisonous insecticides in my food, a meal of fried eggs. I have the evidence of that too. When the problem became so serious, we had to seek audience with Dr. Bashir (Umar), chief Imam of Al-Furqan Jumuat Mosque, who is a well respected marriage counsellor in order to get advice and save the marriage.

"We went to see Dr. Bashir along with my wife, her mother and her elder brother in my car. I narrated all my accusations against her including her infidelity, promiscuity and drug abuse which she all admitted to Dr. Bashir. But it was on the same day after we returned home that she stabbed me with a knife after I seized her phone, which she used to send her nude pictures and videos to her boyfriends.”
Here is a video from the press conference below;

Four Refineries To Work By 2023, Says NNPC Boss
User Avatar Forum: Oil/Gas
Posted by: Edoman - 07-09-2019, 11:20 AM - No Replies

Quote:John Ofikhenua,

With a promise to reactivate all four refineries before the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2023, Mele Kyari yesterday took the baton from Dr. Makanti Baru as the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He also pledged his readiness to work towards the delivery of the Dangote Refinery by the first quarter of next year.

Kyari plans to ensure that Nigeria achieves its production target of three million barrel per day and also grow its reserve to 40 million barrels.

The four refineries – Port Harcourt Refinery & Petrochemical (1 & 2); Warri Refinery & Petrochemical and Kaduna Refinery & Petrochemical – have installed capacity to produce 445,000 barrels per day. They have been on and off for technical reasons.

The NNPC chief said: “It is the intention of NNPC to support the industry to make sure we achieve production level of three million barrels per day and grow our reserves to at least 40 million barrels. We will achieve this and it is possible. I have already set the time for it. We will do it before 2023.”

Kyari spoke at the amphitheater of the NNPC in Abuja, where Baru handed over to him.

His words: “There is a legitimate expectation from Nigerians that why can we be oil producing country with four refineries and yet importing sometimes 100% of our requirement.

“I will follow it up to make sure that before the life of this administration expires, before Baba’s (President Muhammadu) tenure ends in 2023, we will deliver on the four refineries.”

The NNPC, under Kyari, will encourage private sector participation in revamping the refineries.

“We support the Dangote Refinery to make sure they come on stream within the shortest time. I cannot say for them but the last information we had was that they will come on stream the first quarter of 2020. We will support them with everything possible to make sure it comes on stream,” the new chief said.

Kyari said that with the modular refineries coming on board, Nigeria would become a net exporter of petroleum products at the expiration of President Buhari’s tenure.

According to him, products can now be bought without going to NNPC but what is left is taking it from the gate into the tank. “At the end of the day, you will sit on your bed, buy petroleum product and deliver it to your filling station,” Kyari said.

He spoke of fighting corruption, saying: “There will be no corruption where there is no discretion. We are going to work with the EFCC to take out corruption from our system. Leadership is about trust, I also know that there is eternal accountability we respond to. We will not make deliberate mistakes.”

Read also: Issues before NNPC boss Kyari
Continuing, he said that he would do his job with integrity without allowing his personal interest to betray him.

Kyari hinged his decision to be upright in the discharge of his duty on the fact that he would one day give account of his stewardship to God.

His words: “I will stand before my creator and say I have done well.”

According to him, the corporation will henceforth become accountable to the citizens.

He said: “It is a promise that we are going to be accountable to the citizens. The citizens will have access to what we are doing.”

But putting a caveat, he said that unless on commercial value ground, “we will disclose every data. But we will discuss every data at the appointed time.”

Warning his children, Kyari urged them not to accept any gift from anyone on his behalf.

His words: “From today, if you accept gift from anyone, it is not for me; don’t give gift to members of my family. It is not for me.”

Kyari said he never prayed for the job, stressing that the opportunity could only come from God. The NNPC boss said that there are other personnel with better grades and 40 PhD holders who are also qualified for the seat, but providence only saddled him with the responsibility.

According to him, at a point in his service, his predecessor (Baru) was simply signing his requests without reading them because he had earned his trust.

He has no illusion that the journey ahead would be easy.

Baru, who became the 18th GMD of NNPC in 2016, told the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, that the corporation’s records under his watch were clean.

He said: ”I look back with pride, recalling that kerosene was gold, diesel a nightmare; nobody talks about them now.”

Baru urged his successor to ensure regular audits of his books, reminding him of the need to focus on oil and gas development, especially in the frontier basins, and opening up of new fields.

He said: “The new GMD should rigorously focus on the growth of oil and gas production and reserve through aggressive exploration campaign in the traditional basins and frontier basins, opening up of deep offshore through negotiation of fiscal terms.

“You should focus on passionately continuing empathic community and stakeholder engagement in the Niger Delta and other areas of operations; continuing cost reduction initiatives and contracting cycle reduction; completion of negotiations of the new PSC terms and Renew licenses early, if necessary thereafter.”

He also advised Kyari on the implementation of the PSC Dispute Settlement Agreements and the Gas Terms.

Baru advised Kyari to focus on exploration to grow reserves in the Niger Delta, Frontier Basins and Deep Offshore.

He spoke also on the completion of the cash call repayment and cash call exit programme.

The former GMD urged Kyari to see to complete the migration to IJV in all the unincorporated JVs.

Other areas that Baru counselled his successor to focus on included:

• completion of the financing arrangements for NPDC assets (OMLs 65, 111, 119, 66 and 64).
• re-entering and developing OMLs 13 and 11 discretionarily awarded to NPDC.
• targeting growth to 500kbopd within existing assets while looking for new opportunities to surpass the target.

Baru reminded Kyari that NNPC’s mission statement was changed to reflect the vision of transforming it into an energy company, in line with the prevailing trend in the industry and its forays into renewables and power.

Baru wore a navy blue suit and a long cap with NNPC red, white, yellow and green logo.

Kyari was dressed in a blue agbada and a cap to match. Upon the handover of the corporation to him, Baru crowned him with the symbolic NNPC transition cap.

The change of bation was witnessed by 10 former GMDs as Festus Marinho; Funso Kupoluko; Dr. Thomas John; Joseph Darwa; Abubakar Yalam and Chambalain Oyinbo and others.

Also present were: Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, Magu; Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Executive Secretary Dr. Waziri Adio; “Daily Trust” Publisher Kabiru Yusuf and his “Leadership” counterpart, Nda Isaiah, among others

Woman cut into 14 pieces after tinder date

A 24-year-old Nebraska woman identified as Sydney Loofe, was found cut up into 14 pieces a month after she disappeared following the Tinder date.

The deceased's dismembered body was found in December 2017, stuffed into garbage bags and dumped in a field near Edgar, south-west of Omaha. Aubrey Trail, 52, and his girlfriend Bailey Boswell, 25, are both charged with first-degree murder in Loofe's death. It was gathered that Loofe met Boswell on Tinder app before going on a date on November 14, 2017 and planning a second one for the following night.  The last time anyone heard from Loofe was on November 15 when she posted a picture of herself to Snapchat, captioning the image: 'Ready for my date'.

Testifying in court on Monday July 8, 2019,  the pathologist who performed her autopsy, Dr. Michelle Elieff, said she received Loofe’s body, which was cut into 14 different parts in different body bags on December 7, 2017.  She said they knew the body was Loofe’s initially because of her tattoos, but then confirmed that through dental records. Her task of determining a cause of death was difficult one, as several parts of Loofe’s body were missing. Eventually, it was ruled homicidal actions, including strangulation.

Quote:“The bottom of the jaw and tissue inside was missing, her tongue, the upper part of her trachea and windpipe,” Elieff said.
However Trail’s attorneys maintained that Loofe’s death was an accident, which happened during a sexual fantasy involving choking. In an interview with Trail that was played in the courtroom, he described “pulling” and “releasing” a cord around Loofe’s neck during the fantasy, he said he must have held on for too long when Loofe died.

Trail who several women have testified against for always talking about killing and torturing his victims because he and his girlfriend, Boswell needed to strengthen their power, has not been in court since last month when he slashed his neck and fell from his wheelchair in the middle of a hearing.  He was caught on camera yelling 'Bailey is innocent, and I curse you all' just seconds before swiping something across his neck.

The suspected murderer has had a stroke and two heart attacks since his arrest, and could face the death penalty if found guilty as the Judge has already ordered that he be handcuffed for the remainder of the trial. His girlfriend, Boswell whose trial doesn't begin until October, might also get the death penalty if she is found guilty.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 9TH JULY.

THE WAY TO THE FATHER’S PRESENCE
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

The saddest day in human history was when Adam, having sinned against God, was driven away from the presence of God, together with his wife, Eve.
Man had been in fellowship with God, being in God’s image and likeness. The Bible says God sent an angel with a flaming sword to stay at the gate of the garden to disallow Adam from re-entering the Garden of Eden.

Suddenly, man (Adam) discovers something: the rich fellowship that he had with God was over. That was the beginning of religion. Man began to do everything he could to get that divine presence again.

All the religions of the world today are seeking the same thing: the lost presence. Man had no way to get back into that presence, until Jesus came. He made a startling statement. He said, “I am the WAY…no one comes to the Father, except by me!” (John 14:6). He’s the way to “the lost presence.”

This was what Adam needed. This was what Abraham, Moses, the Jewish Priesthood, all needed: the way to the Father’s presence! Jesus is that way! “By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh” (Hebrews 10:20).

There’s no veil, no separation any more between us and the Father; He’s brought us into God’s presence, and the Bible says, “In His presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). There’s no joy like what you have in the presence of God. What a glorious life we have in Christ!

If you haven’t found your way into His presence, if you’re not yet born again, this is your moment! There’s no need to wallow in sin, defeat and ignorance any more. There’s no enmity between you and God any more. All you have to do is confess the Lordship of Jesus over your life, and your spirit will be recreated to begin an exciting life in His presence for eternity.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m forever grateful for your unconditional love, which you’ve lavished on me, and the awesome privilege of being a bona fide member of your great family. I enjoy the blessings and benefits of my oneness with you, conscious of your glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

9TH JULY.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD

Dear Father, I thank You for my victorious life in Christ. I make full proof of what Christ did for me, living triumphantly every day, in His Name, and for Your glory. I can never be disadvantaged because I live in God’s Word, which produces in, and for me, the result of what it says. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus, holy and sanctified unto the Lord! I am a partaker of the divine nature,
expressing and manifesting the life of Christ in righteousness, excellence, glory, wisdom and power!

I reign by grace today, through righteousness, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death and its debilitating influences, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

Customs officer Nura Dalhatu was hospitalized for mental illness, not arrested for promoting himself

Claims of a customs officer being arrested after allegedly promoting himself to the rank of Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) to replace its current head, Col.Hameed Ali, has been debunked by the agency.

Recall that a social media rumour alleged that an ASC1 Officer identified as Nura Dalhatu from Katsina state was arrested after he promoted himself to the rank of Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) to replace the current head of the agency, Col.Hameed Ali.

Joseph Attah, a spokesperson for Customs who denied the claim, said the assistant superintendent of the Nigeria Customs Service who resumed office at the Customs Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday morning, showed traits of mental ailments.

Quote:“It was obvious that he was not in the right frame of mind,” Mr Attah said. “From the question and the answer he gave.”

Promising to provide additional information about the development, Attah also told Nigerians to pray for the hospitalized officer.

FUTO student nabbed while trying to use coursemate for ritual

A Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) student was apprehended last night, after he tried using a fellow student for money ritual.

Upon interrogation, the student of Biological Science who was nabbed at a student's lodge, Bliss Mansion in Umuchima, Imo State, said that he engaged in the ritual so that his fraudulent scheme on the internet popularly known as yahoo-yahoo will go smoothly.

Recounting how the incident occurred, Daniel, a final year student of Biological Science and the ritualist's victim said his ordeal began after he took him (ritualist) in after his claim of being arrested by the police.

Quote: "He called me at late hours of the night appealing to me to allow him sleep over at my place. I sent him the address of my place and when he came, he narrated to me how he was arrested by the police and the other stories afterwards. He told me that he doesn't want more troubles, so he decided to lie low at my place.
He insisted I go get him something to eat, I had to borrow #200 from my lodge mate and on my way, i started asking myself why would he be insisting I get him something knowing how dangerous, Umuchima can be at night but I only prayed to God to take control. I cooked for him but he refused to eat, saying that I put something in the food which I didn't.
Some minutes past 12:00am, he came to the bed telling me that the music I was playing was disturbing him, because he hasn't slept for about 2days. Suddenly he started making incarnations, I initially thought it was funny not until he started asking me why I haven't slept off yet, I told him I would sleep when the time comes.
Although secretly, I was praying. At 2:00am he started beating me up and when I was shouting, he told me that no one can hear my voice. I struggled with him for so long, destroying the property in my room. At 2:30am, my lodge mates started coming for my rescue and by God's grace, I could open the door for them.
He also told me that his plan was that in the morning, he would collect money and when he use it".Information gathered was  that the young man is also a cultist but was using people for rituals for the sole purpose of his yahoo plus activity. "
It was further gathered that the ritualist suspect has been handed over to DSS, for further investigations and judgement. Here is a video of the suspect being paraded by the school's Man O'War officials below;

Tinubu Among Promoters Of Ruga – Odumakin
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2019, 09:56 PM - No Replies

Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja

Afenifere chieftain, Yinka Odumakin, says All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, is one of the promoters of the Ruga initiative which seeks to give free land to herdsmen for cattle grazing and other forms of animal husbandry.

Odumakin drew the attention of Nigerians to Tinubu’s speech at a national summit on conflict resolution organised by The Nation and TV Continental with the theme, ‘Towards an Enduring Peace.’

He noted that at the event which held at the Nigerian Air Force Centre, Abuja on October 8, 2018, Tinubu said, “The government must help herders gradually shift from their traditional nomadic existence to a more static lifestyle. We have to face the reality that modernity is making the nomadic way counterproductive and inefficient.

“Unoccupied, isolated land can quickly be turned into grazing areas in the affected states. In the long run, this will enable herders to better maintain their livestock and thus their own livelihood.”

Speaking with our correspondent during an interview on Monday, the Afenifere spokesman said it was for this reason that Tinubu could not join other prominent Yoruba leaders in rejecting the Ruga programme.
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; the Aare Oona Kakanfo, Otunba Gani Adams, the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi; and other prominent Nigerians have all condemned the scheme.
Odumakin said, “It would be a waste of time to expect Tinubu to say anything on the Ruga matter. Don’t forget that in 2018, it was reported in The PUNCH that he said all unused lands should be given to herdsmen for grazing. I spoke up then but he lambasted me.

“What we are witnessing today is a manifestation of what he said. So, how can he come out today to oppose Ruga? He advocated Ruga.

“To expect Asiwaju to speak against Ruga is like expecting a shadow to shed tears. It will never happen.”

The Afenifere spokesman also noted that the Ruga initiative and the National Livestock Development Plan being handled by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo were not different from each other as claimed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Spokesman, Garba Shehu.

Efforts to get a reaction from Tinubu proved abortive as his Spokesman, Tunde Rahman, did not respond to a text message sent to his phone.

The petitioners at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT); the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar have commenced the calling of witnesses at the hearing their petition.

The first witness they called is Buba Galadima, a critic of President Buhari and one of the spokesmen of the PDP presidential campaign team.

Buba Galadima, a critic of President Buhari said he supported Buhari’s presidential ambition in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015, because he believed Buhari as qualified to lead the country.

He also explained that he fell out with Buhari because he failed to keep the promise they made to Nigerians to provide quality leadership, God-fearing leadership, good governance. He said the government appointed his daughter, Zainab Buba Galadima as member of the Board of Film Corporation, Jos.

He said Zainab is not currently Special Assistant to Buhari, arguing that his daughter is very qualified for any appointment, being an adult, well educated and worked for the success of Buhari’s election.

Eucharia Ojukwu: Senator Elisha Abbo's Wife Died Of HIV/AIDS - Sister Tells Sun
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2019, 04:56 PM - No Replies

Quote:Unending trouble of Senator Abbo
◗ How his wife died of HIV/AIDS –Sister-in-law ◗ He refused to pay me my money, threatened me with death – Business associate ◗ Released on bail, likely to be arraigned

For the embattled Senator Elisha Abbo, there is no end in sight to his self-inflicted travail. The infamous video of his assault of a Nursing at an Abuja adult toy shop is the Pandora’s box that brought him to bad light. Now, the floodgate is open and more damaging revelations are coming into the open, as grave allegations surface from different quarters.

Two of his accusers spoke with Saturday Sun. The worse allegation came from Eunice Tochukwu Ojukwu, his sister-in-law, who alleged that Senator Abbo, battered his late wife, Eucharia Uche Ishiaku, who eventually died ofHIV.

Eunice Tochukwu Ojukwu made this allegation when she visited the Ikeja office of the Sun newspaper yesterday.

“I am the immediate junior sister of Eucharia Uche Ishiaku who was married to the man you all now know as Senator Elisha Abbo,” she declared. “His real name is Clifford Ishiaku, that’s the name we knew him till we saw the story on social media that he is now a senator.”

She lamented that her sister would have been alive if her husband had informed her about his health status.

The second story, from Owolabi Olumuyiwa Tayo, a former business associate of the Adamawa Senator, chronicled in detail their business dealing way back when the man at the centre of the storm was a mere political jobber. Owolabi’s gritty story of abuse of power, disrespect for contract and lack of regard for friendship adds to the grisly portrait of the man who is reportedly Nigeria’s “youngest lawmaker.”

The grim story of his stormy marriage

Without much ado, Eunice Ojukwu spilled the details.

According to her, the couple met sometime before 2009 and before they got married, he converted from Islam to Christianity. On September 26, 2009, they had their church wedding at a Catholic church in Mubi, Adamawa.

Months after, she took ill and thereafter was treating a regular ailment, not knowing that she had been infected with HIV.

“I got to know about her illness in 2012,” she said.

“On her sick bed, she told me everything that happened, especially how she got to know that she was infected with HIV.

She told me that she later discovered that her husband was already infected but held that information from her while they were dating. Unknown to her, he was going for treatment and was still sleeping with her without protection.

“It was destroying her system gradually and that made her sick.” Someone who observed the frequency of her illness had urged her to go for a general test. The Good Samaritan also paid for the test.

“This was how she found out that she was infected with HIV and that it was at a critical stage. When she confronted him with her result, instead of confessing, Senator Abbo battered my sister mercilessly.”

Ojukwu claimed the family got to know about the battering and made an effort to rescue their daughter from the toxic marriage. “We knew that he was raping our sister. He even tried to bring his friend so that both of them will sleep with my sister at the same time. She took a lot of stitches as a result of anal sex forced on her,” she said.

At a point, their father had contacted Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo in Mubi, begging them to bring back her daughter.

“The day she finally left in 2012, Senator Abbo followed her to the motor park and created a scene. He wanted to drag her back but my father pleaded with the driver to ensure that my sister boards the bus back to our village in Anambra.”

Of her sister, she said: “She was a calm person who did not want to lose her marriage, so she kept the information to herself. There were several fights and when my sister calls me, I will plead with her to leave that man but she will refuse. She believed so much in that marriage until she was very sick. There was an instance where he battered her so much in their house in Abuja and dragged her out of the house Unclad. Anytime that he was beating her up, neighbours tried to intervene and he’d threaten them with a gun.”

She continued: “When they were in Abuja, he would dump her in the hospital for days, and no one would be there to give her food till the hospital alerted us and we’d send someone to her. We were in and out of the hospital for six months before she died in 2013. When my sister died, he called that he was going to deal with me that I was the one that killed my sister.”

She gave an insight into how her sister met him.

“Eunice said that they started dating during her National Youth Service Corps days in Nasarawa in 2008. He had worked for so many known politicians in the north. He visited their orientation camp and they met and became friends. When our sister came up with the story of marriage, my family kicked against it.

My family was against the marriage because they were not in support of inter-tribal marriage. We do not know much about the northerner and their culture. When she died and I posted it on my Facebook wall, her friends doubted it because Senator Abbo did not say anything about it on his Facebook wall.”

Saturday Sun wanted to know why she is coming out with the story now.

Eunice Ojukwu replied: “I want justice for my sister. In 2013, when my sister died, I posted it on Facebook and no one took it seriously. He was a nobody and I was the daughter of a nobody. Then social media was not as strong as it is now. All I want is justice, let no one be deceived by those tears, he is an evil man.”

In a face-saving video circulate on social media, Abbo had apologized to Nigerians over his shameful action, cutting a figure of a remorseful man.

Ojukwu warned: “We are used to that his crocodile tears, whenever he comes begging. Nigerians should not be deceived.”

Death threat and false accusation

On Thursday, four days after the infamous “Assault in a intimacy gadget Shop” video went viral, Owolabi Olumuyiwa Tayo was a guest of Saturday Sun. He also came to narrate his ordeal at the hand of Senator Elisha Abbo.

Owolabi, from Ekiti State, was an official photojournalist to former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose in 2014. He rendered an account of his chilling encounter with the Senator.

What was the bone of contention? The Senator refused to pay him for a service he rendered, Owolabi alleged.

“Senator Ishaku had to be a consultant to Fayose then. After the election, he saw my tenacity and approached on my job, he approached me to work with him and I agreed. Then he was aspiring for a senatorial seat under APC in Mubi North, Adamawa State. We travelled together down to Osun State during Omisore’s election because he worked with Omisore as a consultant then. We were in Celebration Hotel for months where I kept recording and doing my job as usual.”

After the job at Osun, he recalled, the Senator left for Abuja and he had to join him there.

“I was at his house for almost six months. We lived together. We were working, travelling down to Yola and back to Abuja.

“We had a contract and I put my proposal to him through his Head of Administration, Mr Adekoya. The first time we lodged at Lelewa Hotel, Adamawa, opposite Adamawa Polytechnic. I did my work as usual and we travelled to his hometown Mushala after Vintim, some kilometres to Cameroon. There I did both the video and photography for him”.

The second time they travelled together was when the incident happened.

His recollection: “I travelled to Lagos to do some things for him. We were supposed to go to Abuja together that very day, but on my way, I couldn’t meet up; my car broke down on the road along Lokoja, so I got to Abuja late. I had to take a flight from Abuja to Yola. That day was the eve of Boko Haram invasion of Mubi, so we were supposed to be in Mubi that very day. When we heard about the news, we couldn’t go, so we lodged at Danzol Hotel in Yola. At this point, I couldn’t take the risk of Boko Haram, so I decided to leave. I approached the Senator to ask for part-payment of my money so that I could go and meet my family and leave that environment. At first, I sent him a text and he did not respond. I called, but he wouldn’t pick. That day some of his people that escaped from Boko Haram came from Mubi to meet him at that hotel and he was giving them money and everything they needed to feel comfortable. I was frustrated because he refused to pick my calls. So around that 5 pm, I tried to reach him but I couldn’t. Out of frustration I went and sit at the doorstep of his room for more than three hours waiting for him to come out and attend to me. On coming out of his hotel room, he said, “Muyiwa you are embarrassing me”, and I told him that I wasn’t embarrassing him, but rather pleading with him to give me my money so that I could go and meet my family.”

At last Owolabi came to the crux of his story: “The next thing he did was to start beating me. He called his orderly to bundle me out of the Hotel at that odd hour. The policemen beat the hell out of me that day. They cocked the gun at me and I said my last prayer. The Senator said that he would tell his people that I was a Boko Haram. I became afraid because I didn’t understand their language. There was nobody I could call; I don’t have a family there. I went there based on my job. That was when I kept quiet. I was just saying my last prayer and I was asking for mercy from God. One of the policemen told him that they should take me to Kaliwa District Police station in Yola. We were there for more than an hour because I did not allow them to take me away from where people were at that odd hour because I did not know where they were taking me. So it was around 2 am that they took me there in their pickup van to the police station. When we got there, there was nobody, no light until one policeman brought a torch and they told him to put me in a cell. They were speaking but I did not understand what they were saying because they were speaking Hausa.”

Did he write any statement at the police station?

He said no, and went on to detail how he was manhandled by the policemen.

“When they were carrying me I was shouting “my ankle. They twisted my neck. I was in severe pain. They tore my clothes. I had to beg the IPO to help me by allowing me to use his phone to call one of my relatives because I did not know anybody there. He obliged and I called one of my brothers who pleaded that the person should assist me. They knew that his action was wrong but he is their person and I am a stranger to them, so there was nothing I could do.”

Succour came his way in the morning when the DPO arrived and after listening to his story, directed that he should be set free.

“Some of the staff that I worked together with came that very morning and they pitied me when they saw my condition. I was helpless, they tore my clothes, broke my ankle, they beat me mercilessly with their guns, the slapped me,” he said.

By Owolabi’s estimate, Senator Abbo owed him N2.8m.

“I did both video and photography. I calculated it per day as we were working for him. It was during the campaign. We were in Celebration Hotel in Ife for a month and we worked at Omisore Radio station. These are the things that accumulated to that amount. His Head of Administration knew about the contract.”

Out of the N2.8m, Abbo paid only N240, 000, Owolabi claimed.

As to why he decided to bring out the issue now after about five years, Owolabi explained: “When I saw the video of the lady he beat, I was so furious that he shouldn’t have gone to that extent. Again, some people were trying to defend him, so I have to tell them that I too have experienced such a thing from him and this is my story.”

Asked if he is driven by an ulterior motive, Owolabi said: “I am not blackmailing him. He can’t deny me. His brothers can’t deny me. I have their contacts. They have called me time without number today, people that we worked together. His Personal Assistant, Musa, that we worked together has called me and said I should ‘die’ down the issue if he tries to pay me.”

Regrettably, the Senator had refused to respond to his efforts to get his attention. “His people have been calling since I opened up. I don’t know if he is the one sending them. I have the conversations of one of his staff in Abuja that is pleading that I shouldn’t have gone too far. He is asking how much I have to collect, and that they can personally rally the money and pay me without even involving the Senator”.

What if the Senator had picked his call?

“I wouldn’t have even done this at all if he had responded to my text messages and phone calls,” he replied. “I pleaded time without number to pay out of the money. I even sent my wife’s account number for him to at least pay something into the account so that my wife can use it to take care of the family I left for months, but he wouldn’t respond to my call”.

He went on: “It’s not that he does not have money; I can assure you he has money to pay. After the incident, he called me to meet him in Lokoja. Then he wanted to work for late Audu Abubakar. We were in a hotel for two weeks, but I think Audu Abubakar did not give him much audience. I thought he wanted to use the avenue to pay me my money because I wanted to sort it out amicably. My brother wanted to contact media houses to make it public, but I discovered that if I had made a move then it would be dangerous for me. Again, I was working with Governor Fayose back then and it was on the eve of his inauguration, so I discovered that it might affect so many things.”

What does he want from the Senator––apology or his money?

“I want both,” Owolabi said.

Big trouble ahead

In the meantime, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command had granted Senator Elisha Abbo bail on personal ground.

Abbo who turned himself in at the police station on Thursday was detained and released on Friday afternoon.

The bail conditions, Saturday Sun gathered, requires the senator to report to the command on a daily basis pending when he would be charged to court.

According to sources, detectives have commenced a review of the video footage of the assault as recorded by the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) installed in the adult toy shop.

The police orderly attached to the embattled senator has also been identified and invited for interrogation by the investigation team, and the senator will be charged for assault, a police source affirmed.

When contacted, Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, confirmed the release of the senator.

Mba said: “As it stands now, he would be charged for assault since there is no bodily injury. But if there was an injury, he would be charged for assault occasioning harm.

“The nature and the number of charges will be dependent on the outcome and findings of the investigation.”

On the fate of the police orderly, Mba said: “We have already said that everay facet of that video will be investigated and we are keeping to our words.”

Mba, refused to comment on whether or not the policeman attached to the senator has been arrested.

Saturday Sun tried severally to get a reaction from Senator Abbo, all to no avail as he refused to respond to the calls.

So there are too many routes to weight loss. Some really work. Some others do not. There is no one single method that works for all. The best bet for you is to eat less food and manage some time to exercise. It is a misfortune that the bodies of most of us are tuned to asking for far more food than our bodies actually need. This ketosis advanced addiction manipulates people's minds into eating more. It is as difficult to give as any other addiction. Traditional and well known weight loss programs like diet clubs and slimming beverages, milkshakes can all help you overcome this urge to eat more. But it is an effort to stick to them.

Atiku Abubakar

Nigeria's former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has finally revealed his stance on the controversial Ruga settlements initiated by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.

According to him, he aligns with his party stance on the matter.

He wrote: "My position on Ruga is the same as articulated by the Governors elected under the banner of my party, the PDP. My position has been well iterated by our Governors & the PDP is one. I will not dignify that threat with a response. There is no North or South. There is just Nigeria."

Recall that Nigerian government had on Thursday, July 4th 2019 suspended the controversial Ruga initiative after public outcry.

After the suspension, the northern youths in response issued a 30-day ultimatum to every southerner residing in the north to vacate unless Ruga is implemented.

Ruga: Ooni Of Ife, Wole Soyinka tell Nigerians to defend their ancestral lands

[Image: quik9kqTURBXy9mNjgyYzVhNTgzODVhMjhjOTMzM...GhMAE.jpeg]
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, have jointly called on Nigerians to defend their ancestral home lands against the Federal Government proposed RUGA cattle settlements.

This was made known in a communiqué issued yesterday to highlight details of a meeting between the monarch and Novel Laureate at his (Soyinka’s) home in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting was centred on the state of the nation.

Oba Ogunwusi and Soyinka, in the communiqué, said their call on Nigerians to defend themselves became crucial as the Coalition of Northern Groups gave a 30-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to pass the Ruga project for Fulani herders despite being suspended after many Nigerians went against it.

The report read: “In this regard, the recent ultimatum delivered by a sectarian order to the President of this nation to set up the so-called Ruga cattle settlements across the entire nation within a stipulated time, despite the national outcry, should be acknowledged as an entitlement under the bounty of freedom of expression.

“In return, we exercise ours and call upon Nigerian nationals across state demarcations to defend the sanctity of their ancestral lands. This birthright has never been annulled, not even under colonial occupation.

“Among such issues of urgent import are the ongoing insurrectional movements that derive from religious fanaticism and intolerance, exemplified by Boko Haram and allied tendencies, as well as aspects of commercial enterprise.

“In which some groups consider themselves especially privileged, singular, and above the laws and entitlements that are binding on other sectors of commercial and industrial undertaking. We have in mind destructive forms of social transactions that characterise groups such as nomadic cattle herdsmen, and their umbrella groupings in the nature of Myetti Allah.

“We confess ourselves increasingly distressed and appalled, that the hitherto harmonious cohabitation, even routine collaboration, among the productive arms of society that Nigerians have taken for granted even from pre-colonial times, have deteriorated to unprecedented levels of barbarity, contempt for human lives and a defiant trampling on the civic entitlements of other productive sectors such as farmers, the providers of both food and cash crops.

“This abhorrent, yet consistent pattern of sectarian, and homicidal arrogance is obviously not merely counter-productive but inhuman, criminal and divisive.

“We consider it a primary imperative of national existence that the constitutive parts of the nation take steps to preserve and enhance their distinct cultural identities, including tested and relevant pre-colonial values, their spiritual apprehension of phenomena and worship, all without detriment to the principles and ideals of mutual co-existence.

“To this end, we undertake to create state-of-the-art ethnic museums for our people both at home and in the Diaspora, where present and future generations can access their histories and cultures vividly, as living expressions of their very humanity, not simply as relics of eras vanished forever or irrelevant to the present,” the communiqué added.

FFK replies El-Rufai's Yahoo Yahoo comment, says ''Northerners have looted Nigeria's treasury more than any other group of Nigerians''

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the statement made by Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over the weekend.

Governor El-Rufai who was speaking at the Northern Youth summit organized by Northern Hibiscus Initiative in Kaduna on Saturday July 6th, said although Northern Nigeria is the most backward and uneducated region in Nigeria, it is a thing of pride to say that Northerners are rarely arrested for Yahoo Yahoo and other financial crimes.

Quote:Nigeria consists of two countries; there is a backward, less educated and unhealthy northern Nigeria, and a developing, largely educated and healthy southern Nigeria.  We have to speak the truth to ourselves and ask why is it that northern Nigeria has development indicators similar to Afghanistan, a country still at war?
We have the largest number of poor people in the world, most of them in northern Nigeria. Nigeria also has the largest number of out of school children, virtually all of them in Northern Nigeria.
We are being considered as the parasite of the federal economy, even though, that is not entirely true. Because northern Nigeria still feeds the nation. The richest business man in Nigeria is still Aliko Dangote, not someone from Southern Nigeria, thank God for that.
So, we still have a lot to be proud of. We should be proud of our culture and tradition, as well as unity. You hardly can find someone from northern Nigeria convicted of 419 or being a Yahoo boy. That is something we should be proud of.
We are generally considered to be more honest and less corrupt than other Nigerians. That is something we should be proud of'' he said

Reacting via his Twitter handle, FFK wrote
Quote:''Put the EFCC, the Police and DSS in the hands of Southerners and see what happens. Northerners have looted the treasury over the last 59 years of our nation's existence more than ANY other group of Nigerians.

RUGA: Association Of Pig Farmers Writes Buhari, Demand “pig Colony”
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 07-08-2019, 10:51 AM - No Replies

A group, the Nigeria Association of Yoruba Pig Farmers’ (NAYPF), has written President Muhammadu Buhari demanding the establishment of “pig colony” in Northern parts of the country, Igbere TV reports.

This comes on the heels of federal government's move to establish RUGA cattle colony for Fulani herdsmen across the country.

Although the presidency has since suspended the programme following public outcry, insinuations are, however, rife that the project may soon be reintroduced in another form.

In a statement issued to Igbere TV by NAYPF’s National President, Rev Bunmi Thomas, he said the plan is aimed at expanding the pork business and growing the economy.

According to him, the initiative, once implemented, will help to “strengthen the unity and economy base of Nigeria”, thereby leading to more employment opportunities.

The NAYPF boss hinted that a team of experts have been contracted from China to help establish a Pork Oil Factory in Abuja, for global exports from Nigeria to other countries.

Full Statement,

Quote:“The Nigeria Association Of Yoruba Pig Farmers (NAYPF) in view of its expanding pig business and with effort to increase pork meat to beef up protein in Nigeria, humbly demand from Mr. President the Presidential support to create for the NAYPF 10 hectares of land space each in all the 19 Northern States for our proposed PIG COLONY where in Yoruba Farmers who engage in Pig Farming can settle for the rearing of their pigs in a modern piggery system to be coordinated by China Farmers.

“This request is very important as it will engage many youths across various tribes who will be employed in this farming project to inter-marry and inter-commerce which will consequently strengthen the unity and economy base of Nigeria.

“Funds for this project has been sourced and are readily available from voluntary donations from members and good will Nigerians.

“Additionally Mr President, we the members of the NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF YORUBA PIG FARMERS (NAYPF) have contracted the service of a Chinese firm YUNGSHAIN AGROPETS to the tune of N23 Billion for the establishment of a Pork Oil Company factory in Abuja where most of the pork will be used for oil production and export same to improve our economy.

“Mr President I have the pleasure to inform you likewise that the association is concluding plans to meet you to shed more lights on any grey areas in this letter (if invited to do so).

“We look forward to your prompt response and the attention of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in this respect.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 8TH JULY.

THE ENERGY OF THE SPIRIT

Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily (Colossians 1:29).

In our opening verse, Paul refers to the inherent ability, the energy of the Spirit at work in him. This isn’t exclusive to Paul but to each and every one of us that has the Holy Spirit. Like Paul, be conscious of this divine energy at work in you.

It makes no difference what challenges you face in the course of your day; there’s a force—an empowerment—at work in you to blaze through the barriers. It’s the energy of the Spirit. The Apostle Paul referenced this same power in 2 Corinthians 3:5 when he said by the Spirit, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.”

We have a sufficiency; we have the ability of God’s Spirit at work in us, because we have the light of God in us. The Bible says, “…Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). The power of God is at work in you, coursing through your being. Become conscious of this.

The Apostle Paul was conscious of this divine energy working in him from within. The word he used in our opening verse for “working” is the Greek, “energeia” which refers to superhuman energy. Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, recognized that the “working,” the operational power of God, was in him. What a consciousness!

Have you come to the point in your life where you know and you can say confidently that there’s a superhuman power at work in you? You ought to know. You’re not labouring or striving by your physical might or human ingenuity, but by the energy of the Spirit.

This energy isn’t at work in you sparingly, but mightily, meaning that you can’t wear out! What a life you’ve got! Now you can further understand Paul’s submission by the Spirit in 2 Corinthians 4:16: “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

CONFESSION

My potentials are limitless, because I’m divinely endued to live the life of glory, according to God’s mighty power which works in me mightily! With that divine ability working in me, I achieve results that are beyond my physical ability. The Holy Ghost lives in me; He works in me! He carries out His ministry through me! Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Osun: How Supreme Court robbed Adeleke, PDP – Lawyers condemn ruling affirming Oyetola’s victory

A civil rights organisation, Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocates (COPILA) has expressed concern over the verdict of the Supreme Court which affirmed the victory of governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They wondered why the Supreme Court would punish candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ademola Adeleke, because of purported absence of Justice Peter Obiora during one of the tribunal sittings.

According to the organisation, by that action, the apex court has substantially spat in the face of the Osun electorate and elevated technicalities against substantive justice.
“It is only in a corrupt entity called Nigeria that the mistake of a judge in a case is ruled as the mistake of a litigant!”, the coalition said.
The Convener of COPILA, Pelumi Olajengbesi in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday entitled: “Osun State: An aberration of Justice enforced by the Supreme Court”, said the verdict has killed “the long vision of liberating Osun State.”

He said that although judiciary has been referred to as the last hope of the common man and fourth estate holding up the pillars of any democracy, the Supreme Court has erred in the Osun State example.
Olajengbesi said, “The journey to the disaffirmation of what we have long known as the truth has been arduous and trying. The path to justice was strewn with setbacks, proxy wars, shadow-battles and concerted efforts which meticulously pulled a wool over the eyes of justice against the good people of Osun state.
“Today, our apex court substantially spat in the face of the Osun electorate undermining a key feature of its very own creation being that manifest justice must be done and seen to be done at all times.

“We’ve witnessed a huge chunk of the integrity of our Supreme Court blown to bits and by its insistence on disregarding a substantive suit whose merit affects the lives and livelihood of a state and its people to tow the path of technicality.”
The coalition commended the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke “whose effervescence, free spirit and resilience reinforced his faith in the courts to do right.”
Olajengbesi said, “Apparently, his faith in the courts and our judicial process has gone unrewarded and has been sacrificed on the alter of vain glorious pursuit of legalism and its damning rigidity.
“Some of us believe Adeleke duly won the election and a referendum by our people even though same has now been disregarded by the courts on the alter of legal summersaults. Adeleke is a man of vision and focus, true to the values which underscore unity, growth and development of the people.
“He was courageous and bold, refusing to be stagnated by the antics of your opponents to sacrifice the people’s mandate. We celebrate Adeleke’s doggedness, and it is our prayers that history should remember him for standing up in defense of what is just.
“Our dear great people of Osun state, beautiful men and women of valor, you have persevered these past months under a state government who, having stolen the people’s mandate, failed to prioritize your needs.
“We have gone many steps backwards since that unfortunate theft at the polls and sadly, the Supreme court has made it worse, killing the long vision of liberating Osun State.”

PDP blasts Buhari’s appointments, says President only interested in personal comfort

Following recent appointments announced by the presidency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday berated President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for alleged insensitivity to the welfare of the people of the country.
It also alleged that Buhari had abandoned Nigerians to their fate and was only interested in the appointment of aides to serve his immediate personal comfort and necessities.

This allegations were made by the spokesman of the opposition party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement made available to newsmen, in Abuja.
Ologbondiyan added, “The party described as highly unfortunate that at a time millions of Nigerians are hurting and suffering untold hardship due to lack of attention to critical sectors of our economy and national life, President Buhari is only concerned about his personal needs.
“The PDP says such unpatriotic and self-centered acts, which is a direct slap on the sensitivity of the citizens, are only associated with leaders who do not have the mandate of the people but found themselves in office as beneficiaries of manipulated elections.

“That is why at the time Nigerians expect urgent interventions on critical issues of national insecurity and uncertainties; kidnapping and bloodletting; high costs of food and essential services; lack of affordable healthcare, decayed infrastructure and excruciating poverty in the land, President Buhari and his handlers are more interested in appointing house keepers and managers of social events that has only to do with him.”
Further, PDP urged Nigerians to note that this development and the alleged general
lethargy in governance was a weighty effect of the validity challenge that confronts governance in the nation following the alleged rigging of the 2019 Presidential election.
The PDP spokesman claimed that such unseriousness further amplifies the alleged insensitivity and incompetence of the Buhari Presidency.

Also, the party said the scenario as it portrayed are indications of the alleged
deplorable situation that might further befall the nation under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

SAHCO to list shares on Stock Exchange

[Image: Skyway-Aviation-Handling-Company-Plc-SAHCO.png]

Following the completion of its initial public offering (IPO), Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, will this week list its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). SAHCO will be the second ground handling company to be listed at the stock market, after Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (Nahco) Plc.
SAHCO had floated an IPO of 406.074 million ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N4.65 per share. The IPO was an offer for sale, implying that the net proceeds of the IPO would go to the existing majority core investor in SAHCO, which was divesting partially to allow retail minority ownerships. Ten per cent of the shares offered for sale were earmarked for staff of SAHCO under an Employee Stock Ownership Plan to be set up and administered by a Trustee.
The IPO, which opened on November 5, 2018 and was scheduled to close on December 19, 2018, was extended for 12 working days to January 09, 2019.
The IPO was, however, undersubscribed by 35.35 per cent as the company was only able to raise N1.22 billion out of IPO value of N1.89 billion. Official final allotment report for the IPO showed that a total of 1,212 applications were received for 262.52 million ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N4.65 per share, totaling N1.22 billion.

SAHCO was privatised by the Federal Government in 2009. Sifax Group acquired the entire share capital of the company. The Share Sale Purchase Agreement (SSPA) however mandates the majority core investor to divest 49 per cent of the shares of the company to the general Nigerian investing public.
The board of the company had stated that SAHCO planned to ride on the back of the success of its IPO to further push its vision of becoming the leading provider of aviation handling services in the West African region.
