The verse above was part of the prayer format that Jesus gave to His disciples before the consummation of His redemptive work. The thought in that prayer does suggest that every day, in the mind of God, there’s a blessing for you; there’s more than enough supply for you every day.

God isn’t just into “provision”; He’s into supply. He’s not just providing what you need; He supplies all you require; meaning there’s a constant flow into your life. He wants you to have, not only for yourself, but enough to help others. So, for every day in God’s calendar, and in God’s plan and structure of things, there’re blessings for you; supplies set aside for you.

Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” You need to be in that state of expectancy. Each one of us has a heavenly account. But you see, many of us have never drawn from our accounts, and so, there’s an accumulation of wealth in your name. You can call forth your supply even now. Hallelujah!

Jesus said, “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?” (Matthew 7:9-10). Then He concluded, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (Matthew 7:11).

Some people have never taken possession of that which belongs to them since they became Christians. They have leftover “daily bread” that has accumulated over time, which they never possessed. All that time they were crying to God to provide money for their rent or for one thing or the other, there was supply from heaven available to them, more than the immediate need; but they didn’t know it.

It’s time you began to draw from your heavenly account. How? It’s through your faith-filled affirmations; your confession of the Word! You declare, “I refuse to lack or be broke. There’s an allocation from heaven for me every day. I have supernatural supply and I walk in abundance.” Hallelujah!

Blessed be the Lord who daily loads me with benefits, even the God of my salvation! Today, there’s an overflow of favour and abundance for me, and I take possession. Governor Ihedioha’s aide must apologise for slapping my daughter – Rochas Okorocha






Rochas Okorocha is demanding an apology from a member of the Committee on Recovery of Stolen State Government Assets set up by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, for slapping his daughter Uloma-Rochas Nwosu as seen in a viral video last week. 
 
A statement released by Rochas Okorocha's media aide Sam Onwuemedo, alleged that the former Imo State Govenor's first daughter and Uche Nwosu's wife had gone to the ‘ALL-IN’ furniture store owned by her mother to know why it was invaded by members of the committee when she was allegedly assaulted. 
 
Insisting that the store was sealed by the Economic and Financial Crimes for investigation, Okorocha recounted not using his power as Governor of the state to intimidate anybody.

Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting: 3 reportedly killed at annual food festival in northern California






At least three people were killed at the Gilroy Garlic Festival after a shooter opened fire on people attending the annual food festival in northern California.
 
Though it couldn't be confirmed if there was any suspect in custody Joy Alexiou, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Public Health System revealed that at least 11 people were transported to two hospitals in fair to critical condition. 
 
The shooting occurred at about 5:30 p.m on the final day of the three-day celebration featuring food, cooking competitions and music that attracts more than 100,000 people.  An eyewitness Julissa Contreras, told NBC Bay Area that she saw a white man in his early to mid-30s firing a rifle that was "able to shoot three to four shots a second."

The Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara has suspended indefinitely, four students over an alleged illegal possession of guns within the institution’s premises.

Among the four suspended students are two final year students.

The four students were caught with the fire arms by Security Operatives during the institution’s Cultural day celebration held on Thursday 18th July, 2019.

The school authority said they have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke in a telephone chat with DAILY POST confirmed the report saying, “It was about two weeks ago that the incident occurred.”

The Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara confirmed the suspension of the students in the school’s bulletin signed by its Registrar, Dr. Benson Omonode.

A copy of the school’s bulletin was obtained on Sunday wherein the Registrar, Dr. Benson Omonode gave the names of the suspended students to include Ogbekhilu Collins (HND II, Mechanical Engineering), Oghenede Godbless (HND II, Elect-Elect Engineering), Agbagbara Ernest (ND 1, Regular 2, Industrial Engineering) and Omare Andy (ND II, Regular 1 Business Administration and Mgt.)

“The four (4) students were caught with guns by security operatives on Thursday, 18th July, 2019 during the Cultural Day at the Polytechnic. They have been handed over to the police for investigation,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday dived 164ft to bottom of the Gulf of Finland aboard a self-propelled deep-sea submersible, called the C-Explorer 3.11, to explore a Soviet submarine that was sunk during World War Two.

The Soviet Navy Shchuka-class submarine Shch-308 Syomga (‘Atlantic Salmon’) was sunk by a German mine in October 1942 near the island of Gogland, west of St Petersburg, and was later discovered during a deep-sea expedition in May 2018.



The 66-year-old president, who took part in mounting a memorial plaque to the wreck in memory of the 40 crew members who lost their lives in the attack, said the moment was important because "everyone must know that Russia does not forget its heroes."

More than 380 Chinese nationals were detained during a raid on a gambling ring in Vietnam, state media reported Sunday, in what Police claim is the biggest-ever betting operation run by foreigners.

According to the report, Police also confiscated nearly 2,000 smartphones, 530 computers, bank cards and cash.

Most forms of gambling are illegal for locals in Vietnam, but the country has, in recent years, been used as a venue for online betting rings run by gangs from China and Taiwan.

Some 500 Police officers in the northern port city of Hai Phong broke up the Chinese-run network in a raid late Saturday on a gated community called Our City, where rooms were used to transact online bets worth more than $400m, state-run Vietnam Television said.

“This case is considered the biggest ever in terms of scale and the number of foreigners breaking laws on Vietnam’s soil,” VTV reported.

The 380 Chinese nationals fielded online wagers from Chinese punters on sports betting and ran an illegal lottery, it added.

Police declined to provide additional details when asked for comment by AFP.

Vietnam’s one-party state has started loosening its rules on domestic gambling, allowing its citizens to bet in casinos on a trial basis and opening up some sports betting.

But lucrative illegal operations have mushroomed, prompting a crackdown on domestic gambling rings.

Dozens of people were convicted in Vietnam last year in connection with an online gambling ring run by a senior official in charge of policing internet betting.

An attack this weekend by Boko Haram fighters on a funeral in northeast Nigeria has left 65 people dead, almost triple the initial toll, a local official said Sunday.

Dozens more bodies were discovered following the assault Saturday by gunmen on a village close to the regional capital Maiduguri. 

“It is 65 people dead and 10 injured,” local government chairman Muhammed Bulama said. 

Bulama said more than 20 people died in the initial attack on a funeral gathering. Dozens more were killed as they tried to chase after the jihadists. 

The leader of a local anti-Boko Haram militia confirmed the death toll, while giving a slightly different account of the attack. 

Bunu Bukar Mustapha told AFP 23 people were killed as they returned from the funeral and “the remaining 42 were killed when they pursued the terrorists”. 

Bulama said he thought the latest attack was in retaliation for the killing two weeks ago of 11 Boko Haram fighters by local residents when the fighters approached their village. The residents also captured 10 automatic rifles. 

Boko Haram fighters have repeatedly attacked the surrounding Nganzai district. 

Boko Haram has waged a decade-long insurgency in northeast Nigeria that has killed around 27,000 people and displaced more than two million. 

The group has splintered between the Boko Haram faction loyal to historic leader Abubakar Shekau and an affiliate of the Islamic State group. 

Shekau’s group tends to hit softer targets including civilians, while the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has since last year ratcheted up its campaign against the military.

Both she and her ex-husband were taken to National Taiwan University Hospital Zhudong Branch and are in stable condition.

A house maid agent who specialized in assisting people to get maids with the motive of using them to abscond with money, jewelry and other valuables, has been arrested in Lagos.

Francis Okputu, 37, has been doing this since 2003. In May 2019, he planted one Joy Onoz and told her to steal from her boss. He also ordered her to help him get her boss’ picture.

The gold jewelry, he told Joy, would be replaced with copper and he would take the picture to a prophetess who would help him bewitch it and make the boss not to question any of the girl’s deed after stealing her things.

However, Joy quickly told her boss of the plans and they played along with his arrangement. The lady gave Joy some hard currencies, jewelry and her picture and told her to contact Francis.

The suspect, unknowingly, instructed Joy to meet him at Iyana-Ipaja to handover her loots to him and he was arrested. After his arrest, the decoy team of RRS visited some housemaid whom Francis had installed in different part of the State to question them.

A former Arizona teacher, Brittany Zamora, 28years old, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for having sex with a 13-year-old student begged the boy's father not to call police, it has emerged.

In newly released recordings, the victim's father can be heard confronting Brittany Zamora over the phone. 

The 28-year-old pedophile is then heard pleading with the man to settle the matter without involving the police.

Zamora, who will spend the next two decades at Perryville Prison in Arizona State, tells the boy's angry father:

When the teen's parents started getting the alerts about inappropriate text messages, they confronted him.

That's when the teen admitted to having sex with Zamora. The boy's parents were devastated by the affair.

Zamora's husband defended her to detectives, saying: 'Brittany is an adult. She's the best, the best person I've ever known'.

Zamora is married. According to police, she had sex with the 13-year-old boy twice in her car outside his grandparents' house while her husband, Daniel (pictured together), was fishing.

The police in Lagos state have arrested a man, Daniel Isaac, 38, for killing his landlord, Don Able, 58, at the Ikotun area of the state.

Spokesperson of the command, Bala Elkana, in a statement released today July 28th, said on Wednesday July 24th at about 5am, policemen from Iba Police Station who were on a stop and search duty at First gate, Agboroko area, Iba flagged down a Toyota Camry which was driven in a reckless and suspicious manner. Two suspects namely Daniel Isaac, 38, and Emmanuel Chukwu, 36. 

Bala says investigation by the police showed that Daniel Isaac killed his Landlord Don Able ‘m’ 50 years old from Rivers State and dumped the corpse in a well, inside his compound at Owodun street Area, Ikotun. Daniel was escaping with the robbed vehicle of the deceased along with his accomplice Emmanuel Chukwu, when they were intercepted. Their intentions were to go and sell the car.

They confessed to the Commission of the Crime. Homicide detectives from State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba are investigating the case.

Suspect will be charged to Court. 

In a related development, on 24/07/2019, at about 11.15am, Satellite Police Station received an information from a credible source, that a bag containing a suspicious item was smuggle into a motor park for onward transfer to Onitsha, Anambra state by unknown persons.

Based on the information, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Chike Oti deployed his surveillance team to the motor park at Maza Maza to recover the bag. Upon searching the bag, 50 rounds of .38mm live ammunition hidden inside a garri dust was recovered.

A female who claimed that the bag was given to her by a Man in Ojo area to deliver to someone at Onisha was arrested and she is helping the Police with useful information. The case is transferred to SARS for further investigation. Investigation is ongoing.

Other housemates and even Mercy's love interest in the house, Ike, came to calm the storm, after she went on to smash the phone. She however stated that her only regret was not smashing the phone on Gedoni's face.

Nigerian man accuses soldiers of assaulting and forcefully shaving off his hair with scissors in Aba (video)






An aggrieved Nigerian man has called out some soldiers in Aba, Abia State, for allegedly assaulting and forcefully shaving off his hair with scissors over "nothing". 
 
Showing off some injuries he sustained from the assault, Egbule Obinna disclosed that the soldiers wore masks during the encounter which occurred while on his way to his daily business. He wrote as he shared the video;

A Moroccan court has sentenced to death two Dutch citizens over the accidental killing of a medical student in 2017.
 
Two years ago Edwin Gabriel Robles Martinez and Shardyone Girigorio Semerel allegedly opened fire on a cafe in the tourist hub of Marrakech. They had apparently been aiming at the cafe’s owner, but instead killed the student and wounded two other people, local media reported.    
 
At the time local officials said the shooting was a “settling of accounts” that was “directly linked to a criminal network which has ramifications in some European countries”. On Friday a court sentenced to jail 15 other suspects in the same case, handing them terms ranging between three and 20 years for setting up a “criminal gang”, lawyer Abdellatif Htitech told AFP.  
 
A spokeswoman for the foreign ministry in the Netherlands told AFP that the Dutch embassy “is in direct contact with the lawyer”, without giving further details. Asked if the Netherlands would intervene, Annemijn van den Broek said it was up to those convicted to decide whether or not to appeal.  But she added that the Netherlands is opposed to the death penalty.

Teacher arrested for allegedly raping 17-year-old student inside biology lab in Lagos






A 28-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel, who teaches Computer Science at the Anatasia Comprehensive College in the Abule-Egba area of the state, has been arrested by men of the Lagos state police command for allegedly raping one of his female students inside the school’s biology laboratory.
 
According to police report, Daniel first made sexual advances at the victim on Thursday June 27th when he asked her to come to the laboratory where he told her that she failed the Computer and Mathematics examinations and promised to increase her marks if she had sex with him. He allegedly made sexual overtures at her and even fondled her breasts. The victim stormed out of the laboratory in anger. The next day Friday June 28th, Daniel again ordered the victim to come to the laboratory. There he locked the door and allegedly had sex with her forcefully. Three days later, Daniel allegedly called for her to come and see him in the laboratory. There he demanded for sex again.
 
The victim reported the matter to the school principal and he was arrested by men of the Isokoko division, Agege, Lagos.
 
Narrating what happened to the police, the victim said

Quote:“On Thursday June 27, 2019, my computer science teacher sent a pupil to me to bring my note to the biology lab. As he was marking the note, he stopped and started pressing my breasts. I told him I didn’t like it and he asked me to go.
“On Friday, he sent another pupil to me that I should bring my note to the lab. When I got there, he stood up and closed the door. I asked him why he locked the door, but he did not say anything. He went back to his seat and started marking my note. Before I knew what was happening, he grabbed me from the back.
He covered my mouth and raped me. He then asked me to go. On Monday, he asked me to bring my computer science note again to the chemistry lab. He said if I allowed him to have sex with me again, he would increase my marks in both mathematics and computer science exams. He said I did not perform well in his subject. I told him that I was not interested.”

I was at home when policemen came to ask for me. They took me to the school and accused me of rape. I accepted that I touched her breasts, but I didn’t rape her.” he said

Twin babies died after dad left them in roasting hot car while he worked nearby






Twin babies have died after their father allegedly left them inside a roasting hot car while he went to work an eight-hour shift.
Juan Rodriguez, a social worker at the Veterans Association hospital, forgot his 1-year-old daughters, Luna and Phoenix, in the backseat of his Honda Accord, which was parked in The Bronx, in New York City on July 26.
 
The father-of-five came back to the vehicle at 4pm after completing his 8-hour shift and found his children dead and "foaming at the mouth", the New York Post reports. Witnesses say he began screaming and a bystander called the police
 

 
Rodriguez told officers he’d forgotten to take the babies to their nursery and had not realised they were still inside the vehicle. He was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
 
The parents of the twins had only just thrown a big party to celebrate their first birthday, a neighbour said. A family friend, Temple Barrows, described Rodriguez as an "amazing guy" and said he was "always there for his kids".
 

 
Neighbour Tony Caterino, 45, said: "This was just a horrible mistake. That one time you make a mistake and you have to live with it for the rest of your life. They were a great family. Always doing things with the kids, always in the yard playing. They had a big camp out last weekend with tents in the back yard. He would always play catch or basketball with his older kids."

Oluwole Ilesanmi, 64, has welcomed the payout by the Metropolitan Police as a victory for freedom of speech after he was wrongly accused of Islamophobia.  
 
The former dentist was preaching outside Southgate Tube station in North London in February when he was approached by two officers. A passer-by had earlier called police and accused Mr. Ilesanmi of hate speech.  
 
He admitted to having described Islam as an ‘aberration’ but insists he was simply expressing his point of view as a Christian rather than denigrating Muslims. One of the police officers claimed Mr. Ilesanmi was disturbing the peace, saying: ‘No one wants to hear that. They want you to go away.’
 
He was handcuffed before the officer gave a thumbs-up to the camera. Mr. Ilesanmi was then bundled into a police car and driven several miles away. There the grandfather was ‘de-arrested’ and let out of the car.  
 
Scotland Yard has now agreed to pay Mr. Ilesanmi £2,500 for wrongful arrest and his humiliating and distressing treatment. Mr. Ilesanmi told UK's The Mail on Sunday:

Boko Haram kills 23 mourners after funeral in Maiduguri






On Saturday, July 27th, Boko Haram gunmen killed 23 mourners in Borno statte after they attended a funeral.
 
According to a report by AFP, the attackers on three motorbikes opened fire on a group of men as they walked back from a funeral in Nganzai district near the state capital Maiduguri, local militia leader, Bunu Bukar Mustapha, said.
 
"Our men recovered 23 dead bodies from the scene of the attack, which happened this morning," Mustapha told AFP. The men were returning to Badu Kuluwu from nearby Goni Abachari village where they had attended funeral prayers for a relative, Mustapha said.  
 
A Nganzai district official confirmed both the incident and death toll.  "I received calls from Nganzai that Boko Haram killed 23 people near Badu Kuluwu this morning," said the official. Local hunters and militia recovered the bodies after survivors returned to the village and alerted them, Nganzai resident Saleh Masida said.  
 
Boko Haram fighters have been repeatedly attacking Nganzai district.  In September last year, the group killed eight people and stole livestock in two villages in the area after residents tried to stop them from taking their animals.

RELEASING THE RIGHT SOUND CODES

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone (Ezekiel 37:7).

To prophesy means to speak words of divine revelation and potency; words that have and give life. Ezekiel understood that it wasn’t just about releasing words, but releasing words with the right sound code; words of the Spirit. He said, “I prophesied as I was commanded.”

As he prophesied, the Bible records that there was a noise and the bones came together, bone to his bone. That’s quite profound, for it means every bone had a code, and the moment the word was given, they knew where to fit into, without any mistake.
God designed energy to be released through words, but you must have the right words. This is why the ministry of the Spirit, fellowshipping with Him, is indispensable in our lives, because it’s the Spirit that actually knows the codes. We listen to the Holy Spirit to receive guidance from Him. He tells us exactly what to say. He could show you in pictures, but you must say it as He said to say it; otherwise, it’ll not work.

Let the Spirit guide you. When there’re crises or daunting challenges, you say, “Holy Spirit, use me to pray accurately, because I know not what to pray for as I ought.” Then start praying in tongues. Sing and worship the Lord in tongues. Do this intensely, and while at it, channel your mind to your purpose, the issue at hand.

As you continue in tongues, soon enough, the gift of prophecy will be stirred from within you to prophesy and make declarations like Ezekiel, and you’ll utter the right sound codes. This is how to effect the changes you want in your finances, job, business, family, and anything that’s of a concern to you. Get the accurate sound code from the Spirit and utter it. You can change hopeless situations and effect positive changes in your life through the creative power of God’s Word in your mouth.

Proscription of Shiites movement is ‘immoral and illegal – Femi Falana






Femi Falana condemned the Nigerian government's plan to proscribe the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shi'ites, following a court order received on Friday. 
 
According to the human rights activist and lawyer to the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the proscription which he described as ‘immoral and illegal’ was planned by the Sunni Muslims occupying public offices. 
 
Recounting how he secured an Appeal Court judgment on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari and his defunct political party, All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) after violent attacks by the police on Nigerians protesting in Kano against the alleged rigging of the 2003 General Elections, Femi Falana stated that the justices of the Court of Appeal unanimously held that the rights of Nigerians to protest against the policies of the government was part of the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution. He further disclosed that the court declared that police permit for rallies was illegal and unconstitutional.
 
He concluded by stating that the proscription of the IMN will not stand, as the fundamental right of the Shiites to freedom of religion is constitutionally guaranteed.
 
The statement reads; 
 

Quote:On The Immoral And Illegal Proscription Of IMN
The IMN was proscribed by the Kaduna State government in 2016. The proscription was gazetted. But IMN has continued to operate in defiance of the proscription.
IPOB was proscribed in 2017 by the Buhari regime via an ex parte order issued by the federal high court. In line with the court order, the proscription was gazetted. But IPOB has continued to operate in spite of the proscription.
However, in a desperate bid to prevent the Shiites from demanding for the release of their detained leader, Elzakzaky and his wife, from the custody of the State Security Service the Buhari administration has proscribed the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.
Since there are millions of Shiites who belong to the IMN the federal government will soon realise that it has merely driven the body underground.
In 2003, General Buhari and other members of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party held a rally in Kano to protest the rigging of the 2003 General Election by the Olusegun Obasanjo regime.
The rally was violently attacked by the Police on the ground that the ANPP leaders did not obtain police permit.
On the instructions of General Buhari and other the ANPP leaders, I challenged the disruption of the rally and the legal validity of police permit for rallies and political meetings at the federal high court.
The case was won by the ANPP. Apart from condemning the violent disruption of the rally by the Police, the Court declared that police permit for rallies was illegal and unconstitutional.
The appeal filed against the judgment by the Police was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
In fact, the Justices of the Court of Appeal unanimously held that the right of Nigerians to protest against the policies of the government is part of the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution.
Therefore, the proscription of the IMN for the demonstrations of the Shiites against the disobedience of court orders by the Buhari regime is immoral and illegal in every material particular.
It is particularly opportunistic on the part of the Sunnis occupying public offices to use the instrumentality of the State to liquidate the Shiites.
The illegal proscription of the IMN should be withdrawn. It will not stand as the fundamental right of the Shiites to freedom of religion is constitutionally guaranteed.

RUGA should be embraced by any interested states and not enforced on non-interested states – Governor Umar Ganduje






Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje, has described Ruga settlement as a programme that needs to be embraced by any interested states and not to be enforced on non-interested states in the country.  
 
According to Ganduje, RUGA should not have been the programme of the federal government but rather for any states with the interest of the Fulani herdsmen whose economic relevance is not in doubt.    
 
The governor stated this while addressing reporters in Sokoto after attending the wedding of the son of the former Governor of Kano State, Senator Kabiru Gaya in Sokoto on Saturday.

Ruga is supposed to be for a state where Fulani’s are residents, you can not implement Ruga where the indigenes are not Fulani. The programme should be for those states that will cater for Fulanis, and the issue of herdsmen should be that of social-economic issues and not a social-cultural issue.  
“That is why in Kano state, we decided to develop a grazing area in the form of Ruga system where the Fulanis will be in one place and can be monitored. Governor El-Rufai pledges to sponsor the education of Almajiri boy who doesn't like to beg from primary school till University






Luck just shined on an Almajiri boy, as Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has pledged to sponsor his education from primary school till he graduates from the University. 
 
The promise came after Twitter user @el_bonga shared a photo of the Almajiri boy that learnt how to polish shoes for commercial purpose because he doesn't like to beg. The 13-year-old boy identified as Usman, had also said that he was out of school because he had no sponsor.  He tweeted;

Manhunt after 16-year-old was raped by older man in wigwam at Edinburgh caravan park






A manhunt has been launched by detectives after a 16-year-old boy was raped by an older man in Wigwam, a popular camping and caravan park in Edinburgh, Scotland. 
 
The rape victim disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday at Mortonhall Caravan and Camping Park, a four-star park just four miles from the city centre and also popular with families visiting Edinburgh. 
 

 
Following the formal statement and a medical examination the 16-year-old boy underwent, the park was sealed-off with Scotland Police's scene of crime tape while the wooden glamping pod was examined by forensic experts.

The proscription of Shiites movement is illegal and unconstitutional ― Mike Ozekhome






Constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome has kicked against the proscription by the Federal government of the Shiites religious group under the umbrella of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, describing it as “highly discriminatory, unconstitutional, as was the case of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.”
 
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday in a reaction to the ruling of an Abuja Federal High Court which described the group on Friday as a terrorist organisation.  
 
According to him, “what group could be more terrorist than the herdsmen and their known anchor, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association that has held Nigeria down by the jugular for years, killing, maiming, burning, raping, turning Nigeria into a crimson field of bloodbath?”  
 
The legal luminary declared that “until the government bans and outlaws these, it is certainly not serious.”

Herdsmen killings: Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed writes emergency letter to Buhari on “war”

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, warning him of an impending war.
The monarch wrote Buhari over the decaying security situation in the country at the moment.
In his letter, Oluwo also recommended short and long term solutions to tackle the menace, stressing the need for peace and unity over any kind of knee-jerk decision.
“I am compelled to write at this fragile moment our togetherness is under threat. I rarely write, not because of what or how but as a proactive father, I love actions. But for the purpose of Nigerians, my race and my promising subjects, I chose to communicate this solution based epistle for two things – to avert journey of no return (war) and kill negative ambitions with alternative means.
“The recent security threat emanating from incessant kidnapping by bad elements or alleged Fulani herdsmen most especially in the south western Nigeria is not without general knowledge.

“Many brainstorming sessions have been conducted by stakeholders. Just three days ago, I was with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at Osun State Government House, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria addressing the same burning issue. I’ve suggested both long term and short term solutions for policymakers’ attention.
“One of those suggestions was adopted by some State Assemblies recently. I met Nigeria as Nigeria. There were hurdles but our fathers managed themselves despite diverse ethnic background. As a pragmatic leader, I’m hopeful you are on toe to run peacefully.
“’Peace cannot be achieved through violence; it can only be attained through understanding.’ Ralph Waldo Emerson.
“Education is a tool to peace, though does not guarantees peace. Understanding is the primary key to peace. Had Yugoslavia, Liberia, Sierra Leone knew this, maybe they would have avoided blood bath. I was caught up in the Liberia war and even fought along Charles Taylor as a Rebel on the NPFL, the havoc wrecked all. War knows no status, age, influence, identity.
“Mano and Gio tirelessly committed atrocities against the Kru tribe, the whole nation was tore a day to Christmas celebration (December 24th, 1989) led by National Patriotic Front of Nigeria under the watch of Charles Taylor. It consumed over 250,000 souls including leaders despite plea for dare lives. Majority paid the debt they didn’t owe. War is an enemy of identity.
“War turns the rich to beggars and something to nothing. I’ve seen many survivors of war including Professors, Doctors, Ministers, and even kings lining up with plates begging for food. “We shouldn’t forget in haste event have overtaken voodoos and traditional war instruments. A fighter jet can destroy thousands in jiffy. Mr President, I say no to war. War is older than us all. ‘Òkun ki o ruru, kawa ruru,’ meaning you don’t fuel a burning fire.
“Mr President, I want to urge you, call every opinion leaders to order to stage a caution of their utterances at this moment. If you can’t be peace we want, don’t be agent of chaos. In my own assessment, your excellency, the solutions to the trauma are two – Short term and long term.
“My domain is the highest host of the fulanis in Osun State. Before the escalation of the kidnapping menace, I’ve visited the Fulanis in my domain mandating formal education and threatened to arrest parents of teen children rearing cattle during school hours.
“They obliged although not completely. Recently, Seriki Fulani brought one of their children who graduated from university to my palace. Understanding is key while education is the door to peace. I want to appeal to your excellency to assent a legislation that will compel education for children and enact strict punishment for parents refusing to educate their children.
“Priority can be placed on the Fulanis with preferential monitoring of nomadic settlements. This option will secure their future to be engineers, pilots, doctors, Professors , kings, bankers , ambassadors etc and not kidnappers. Additionally, growth is gradual.
“Our security should go digital. If not now, who else is our Messiah? Nigeria security should be strengthened. The boost can optionally be assured through mandatory and timely provision of electronic national identity card for everyone on Nigeria soil such that the security force can accost and demand for identification anywhere anytime. With digital ID card, the security can track suspicious members of the society.
“Your excellency, as a short term mechanism, kidnapping cases should be given accelerated hearing with death as penalty for culpable kidnappers. The famous Ralph Waldo Emerson was remembered quoting that ‘there are five enemies to peace: ambition, avarice, anger, pride and envy.’
“Enacting such severe law will dissociate perpetrators from the five enemies of peace. We can’t continue cold handling and expect cold retort. Kidnappers are killers. If caught, they should have a taste of their intention.
“Your excellency, I want to appeal for quick response to enact a law in collaboration with the national assembly for quick trial and execution of culpable kidnappers. There is no justifiable excuse for injustice. Injustice is only justified when matching penalty is meted. The change is in action.
“Let two, three to four culpable kidnappers taste death, then, we will breath air of peace. ‘Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous.’
“Additionally, there should a special federal government sponsored enlightenment programme for herdsmen to halt farm attacks. I have done it in the past. I tutored Fulanis in my area on ranch and provision of hay. You walk your cattle miles to feed them. Acquired nutrients almost used while covering miles walking them back home.
“Even in the course of covering miles of journey in the bush, there are many dangers. The federal government should legislate advanced training on cattle raising as obtainable in developed nations. Construct ranch in your personal land, and feed them with hay. Hay is the best food for the cattle. There is little nutrient in silage.
“Formal learning should be made compulsory for herdsmen while government can as well sponsor them overseas for training on ranching. In a final note, let me state it unequivocally that Nigeria is indivisible. The only voodoo to war is peace not traditional concoctions in digital age. We are on the part of greatness.
“We must not for once be drunk with deception of war. Mr President, my words are given for your attention. Nigeria is yours and mine. While I pray for wisdom greater than that of Solomon to constructively pilot Nigeria, do accept the assurances of traditional rulers support at effecting solutions mentioned and conduct Nigeria’s affairs.”

UYO - Members of Ikono Community in Ikot-Ekpene Area of Akwa Ibom State, have protested alleged invasion of their farmlands and destruction of crops by Fulani Herdsmen in the locality.


Igbere TV reports that the residents are demanding an end to open grazing in their community over destruction of their crops by the cattle. 


A peaceful demonstration was held on Monday, which saw the protesters march down to the Palace of the Paramount Ruler, the Ikono Police Division, and Council Secretariat.


Our correspondent reports that an emergency security meeting was called at the instance of the Council Chairman, Hon. Itoro Colomba. The meeting saw representatives of the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, and Department of State Services, DSS, in attendance. 


Others were the Council Vice Chairman, Prince Etokobong, Secretary to Council, Obonganwan-Ofon Michael Akpan, Village Head, Nung-Ukim Ikiot Etefia, the Youth Leader, and Village Council Secretary. 


Chairman of the Hausa Community in Ikono, was represented by the Secretary, Ahmed Aliyu, while one Mr. Ibrahim from the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ikono, was also in attendance.


During the course of the meeting, our correspondent who monitored the progress, reports that owners of the [destroyed] farmlands were allowed to air their grievances. 


They alleged that Ibrahim is the mastermind of the whole thing, having been in charge of registration of Cattle breeders in the locality, an allegation Ibrahim denied. 


They, however, insisted on been compensated for their destroyed properties, while reminding MACBAN on how they were fully compensated by the villagers for their rustled cows in the past. 


On his part, the representative of the Hausa Community, Ahmed Aliyu, said Ibrahim from MACBAN should be made to pay for the compensation of the destroyed properties, and not the Community of Hausa's.


“I see no reason why Ibrahim should deny the allegation, he is fully in charge of this area. He registers those coming in with their cattle, he gives out grazing routes, supplies them their food, provide them their drugs (when sick), including their shelter. 


“This whole issue started in 2017, it also repeated in 2018. We kept quiet then when our farmlands were invaded and crops destroyed by their cattle coupled with allegations of rape, but we won't (keep quiet) anymore.


“(This time) our farmlands were completely destroyed, you won't believe any crop was planted there before. This is what we do, farming is our major source of income. We don't have other means of survival”, laments one of the affected farmers.


Asked what their demands were, she said the farmers are insisting on full compensation for their properties, adding that they have also resolved they do not want cattle on their lands anymore.


“We the people of this community paid heavily last time when Ibrahim alleged that his cattle was rustled by indigenous farmers. We had to task ourselves and cough out the money (sic). We expected MACBAN to do same, I see no reason why they would not want to take responsibility for their actions.”


There was momentary apprehension during the meeting when the representative of the Hausa-Fulani community, Ibrahim stormed the venue wielding a machete, which was immediately confiscated by the police.


Contacted, Secretary to Ikono Council, Mrs Obonganwan-Ofon Michael Akpan, said the Chairman, Hon. Itoro Colomba, had stepped into the matter. 


She also revealed that the case is now before the Area Command, adding that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was interested in the case.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, also know as Shiites, has described the application by the ban on the activities of the sect as unconstitutional.

The Federal Government had, on Friday, obtained an ex parte order from a Federal High Court in Abuja, banning the activities of the sect.

Justice Nkeonye Maha, in making the order, designated the activities of the sect as “acts of terrorism and illegality.”

The court restrained “any person or group of persons” from participating in any form of activities involving or concerning the IMN “under any name or platform” in Nigeria. 

But reacting, the spokesman of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Abdullahi Musa, said the Shiites sect in Nigeria is not a registered organisation. 

“We practice religion; it is Islam we practice and nobody will ban us from praying under the law,” he said. 

"Does it mean we cannot do all the activities of the sect? Nobody has any right to ban any religion in Nigeria except they want to create another problem in Nigeria.”

Doctor collapses & dies in FMC Yenogoa because of lack of defibrillator…

The late Dr. Stephen Ijeuwe was a resident doctor @ FMC, Abeokuta.

He suffered a cardiac arrest and died in FMC Yenogoa due to lack of defibrillator.

Being a secretary of ARD Abeokuta, he was in FMC Yenogoa for NARD NEC meeting.

Medical doctor and social media influencer Dr. Olufunmilayo left many people shocked after he narrated the story of how a doctor, Dr. Stephen Ijeuwe, died inside a hospital – According to the story, the doctor suffered a heart attack and collapsed but there was defibrillator to resuscitate –

According to reports, the incident occurred in a Federal Medical Center where the deceased went for NARD meeting.

Dr. Stephen was the Association of Resident Doctors Secretary, Abeokuta branch. Before his death, he was a resident doctor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
It is no news that the state of health facilities in Nigeria is in shambles and the story of how a doctor collapsed and eventually died inside a hospital, only seems to remind people how dangerous the implications of not having proper health care facilities really is.

According to Twitter user @DrOlufunmilayo, a doctor recently died after he suffered a cardiac arrest and died inside the hospital after hospital staff could not provide a defibrillator to shock him back to life.
He wrote: “A doctor collapsed yesterday inside a hospital. And a whole “Federal Medical Centre” did NOT have a defibrillator (a machine that shocks the heart to revive it) They travelled to GovtHouse Clinic to borrow one. By then, the doctor died. See, human life has NO value in Nigeria.

According to Dr.Olunfunmilayo, “a defibrillator is a basic life saving equipment. It should be like paracetamol or cotton wool in any hospital. Here in the UK, petrol stations, cinemas, football stadiums, games arena, train stations, etc all have a defibrillator. But in Nigeria, an FMC doesn’t have it. Shame. I can’t get my head round it”.

Nigerian government sues South African Police over assault on ex-Big Brother housemate, Tayo Faniran






Abike Dabiri, chairman of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission has said the South African Police is being sued over the assault on a Nigerian resident in the country.  
 
Recall that ex-Big Brother Africa housemate and Nigerian model, Tayo Faniran, was assaulted and strangled by South African police on Friday. (Read HERE)
 
He was going in his car when the police stopped him and assaulted him without any evidence against him. He captured the incident live on camera for the whole world to see what happened and later explained in another separate video how he was thoroughly tortured by the police.  
 
According to an Instagram live video shared online, Faniran was arrested and brutally tortured after he refused to enter an unmarked police vehicle.  Dabiri-Erewa, however, got hold of the news and gave a report about the release of Faniran and said she was going to ensure justice was served in this matter.  
 
She said that the South African Police have been sued and that a case is being pressed against them for their brutality.

Cannibal killer stabs ex-girlfriend to death, saws her open to eat her brain, heart and lung






38-year-old Joseph Oberhansley, accused of killing his 46-year-old ex-girlfriend Tammy Jo Blanton, and also using an electric saw to open her skull and gobble part of her brain, lungs and heart in Jeffersonville, Indiana, is now denying the murder act he confessed to when arrested in 2014. 
 
The deceased was reportedly found under a vinyl camping tent draped over her bath in September 2014. The cops said her skull was removed, and a “plate with what appeared to be skull bone and blood” was also found.
 

 
At a pre-trial hearing at Clark County Court, Oberhansley said allegations of him raping his late ex-girlfriend the weekend before were “bull crap lies”. He thereafter, suggested that investigators missed the real murder weapon and that it couldn’t have been the “cheap little knife”. 
 
The alleged Cannibal Killer who ignored his frustrated lawyer's warning to keep quiet, had earlier been deemed mentally unfit to stand trial in October 2017, but last November a doctor found his competency had been restored at a psychiatric hospital.
 
 

 
Before Tammy's murder, Oberhansley was free on parole for fatally gunning down his girlfriend Sabrina Elder, 17, in a drug-fuelled jealous rage in 1998.  His mother and sister were also victims of his rage, as it was gathered that he shot them in the back,  before tucking the weapon under his chin and pulling the trigger to give himself a “partial lobotomy.”
 
Oberhansley’s trial is due to start on August 19, and he faces life in jail without parole if convicted.

Married woman commits suicide after her friend whom she stood as guarantor for to obtain a loan goes into hiding






A 41-year-old woman, Mrs Shakirat Rasheed, has committed suicide inside her home in the Awotan area of Apete community in Ibadan, Oyo State
 
Rasheed's body was found dangling in her living room at about 1:00 p.m.
 
According to reports, Rasheed allegedly committed suicide over a loan taken from a micro finance bank popularly known as LAPO. A family source said the deceased stood as a guarantor for her friend who obtained a loan from LAPO office at Awotan area and when the friend was unable to pay the loan, she went into hiding. The bank officials turned to Rasheed to pay the money, giving her an installmental payment arrangement which she must follw or be arrested. The pressure from the bank forced her into depression.
 
On Friday July 26th, she received a call from the bank officials mandating her to see them in their office later in the day as she had failed to fulfill an instalment payment that was due as at that time.
 
Confused as to how to get the money, Mrs Rasheed decided that the best way to get out of the dilemma was to take her life. Her body was dicovered dangling from the ceiling in the room by her husband who was kept in the dark about the loan and the pressure from the bank. 
 
Confirming the incident, the state commissioner of police, Shina Olukolu, said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Apete police station led detectives to the scene of the incident. He added that investigations into the incident has commenced.

Fake Hindu monk defrauds trader of N167,000






A fake Hindu monk identified as Raphael Ekechi, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Ogun State for defrauding a second-hand clothes trader, Emmanuel Ekpe, of N167,000.
 
The 36-year-old trader had approached the magician for a business boom, but was given a substance which never worked. Ekechi was tracked down to Alagbado area of Lagos State, after the case was reported at the IRT office in Abeokuta on July 8, 2019. 
 
The 50-year-old fake magician when paraded before newsmen, said he went into fraud after his electronics business failed. He said; 
 

Quote:“I am from Izza in Ebonyi State and I have four children. One day, I travelled to Accra, Ghana, to buy goods worth N3m and Customs operatives seized them. I became frustrated and could not find any means to get money to continue my business.
“I found out that some Nigerians are desperate to get rich quickly and I decided to use my brain to get what I want. I lied to my clients that I had power and that I learnt metaphysical science from India.
“I charged N7,700 for consultation form and N1m for a person who wants to win a contract. The man (Ekpe) wanted to boost his business. I charged him N167,000 but he first deposited N57,000 and promised to pay the balance in a month’s time.
“I told him that he must pay fully for the things I gave him to work. He came back to my ‘office’ and complained that what I did for him did not work. I told him to stop complaining so that the gods would not be angry with him. I did not know he would report to the police.”

Quote: “I am married with three children and I deal in second-hand clothes. I started from Katankowa Market, Abule-Egba, Lagos, before I moved to Kuto Market in Abeokuta. My business crumbled and I was desperately looking for what to do to revive it.
“I tried to secure a loan from many places but I did not succeed. I saw his (Ekechi’s) poster around Abule Egba area of Lagos and read that he had the power to boost business.
“I called him on the phone and he directed me to take a motorbike to Kola bus stop. He took me to his temple at Alagbado and gave me a consultation form which I filled. I told him that I wanted to revive my business.
“I paid N18,000 for a ring he gave me. He said I should do a sacrifice for it to work and he asked me to pay N120,000 but I deposited N80,000. He also asked me to pay N18,000 for ‘spiritual tax,’ and N35,000 for another sacrifice.
“I returned to tell him that I did not get results for what I paid for and asked him to refund my money. He refused and started to threaten my life. He refunded N53,000.”

U.S. Supreme Court approves President Trump's plan to build the 'disputed' border wall






On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a victory by letting his administration redirect $2.5 billion in money approved by Congress for the Pentagon to help build his promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border even though lawmakers refused to provide funding.  
 
The conservative-majority court on a 5-4 vote with the court’s liberals in dissent ,blocked in full a ruling by a federal judge in California barring the Republican president from spending the money on the basis that Congress did not specifically authorize the funds to be spent on the wall project fiercely opposed by Democrats and Mexico’s government.  
 
“Wow! Big VICTORY on the Wall. The United States Supreme Court overturns lower court injunction, allows Southern Border Wall to proceed. Big WIN for Border Security and the Rule of Law!” Trump tweeted just minutes after the court acted.

 
 A brief order explaining the court’s decision said the government “made a sufficient showing” that the groups challenging the decision did not have grounds to bring a lawsuit. 
“Today’s decision to permit the diversion of military funds for border wall construction will wall off and destroy communities, public lands, and waters in California, New Mexico, and Arizona,” said Gloria Smith, an attorney with environmental group the Sierra Club, which sued to block the funds.
 
In a highly unusual move, Trump on Feb. 15 declared a national emergency in a bid to fund the wall without congressional approval, an action Democrats said exceeded his powers under the U.S. Constitution and usurped the authority of Congress. The administration has said it plans to redirect $6.7 billion from the Departments of Defense and Treasury toward wall construction under the emergency declaration after failing to convince Congress to provide the money, including the $2.5 billion in Pentagon funding. Congress earlier failed to provide $5.7 billion in wall funding demanded by Trump in a showdown in which the president triggered a 35-day partial shutdown of the federal government that ended in January.

Dabota Lawson took a swipe at women who undergo plastic surgery, which is fast becoming a trend in Nigeria. 
 
The former beauty queen who has been rumoured to have undergone cosmetic surgery, advocated for people to feel comfortable in their bodies, and further stated that plastic surgery is not for everyone.
 

 
Dabota also said that some women who undergo the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), end up looking and acting like their heads are screwed into separate bodies.
But an Instagram user who was not having it called Dabota out, insisting that her body looks deformed due to the supposed plastic surgery she had undergone. Dabota replied stating that there is nothing her body cannot carry as she's almost 6ft tall.

Elder statesman and former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife has said that no Igbo man will still claim Nigerian citizenship if the South East zone is not supported to produce the nation’s president in 2023. A major issue of concern to every Nigerian today is the increasing level of insecurity of lives and property in the country today; as a senior citizen of this country, how do you feel?

I think our traditional leaders including the Obas, Obis, Emirs and others from other areas should hold some kind of summit. It is necessary that the herdsmen are spoken to properly. Whatever happens, they are the final losers in the game, however way it ends. If they think that they are the leaders and whatever they want will happen, and they talk with some kind of arrogance, nobody enjoys beeing talked down on. They should also partner with churches and mosques to find a solution to the challenges we are facing as a country. What is happening now is very bad. I heard that about two people this morning were kidnapped in Anambra and I heard one was asked to bring N1.5 million and the second person asked to bring several millions as ransom. Such a development is not good for the country. When the British, our colonial masters left Nigeria, the Fulani had a very good name. Now, I am sure that three years from now, that is if it will be that long, some people will become hated so much that nobody will like to see them and it is not good for anybody to fall into that category. I do not want my people to be so hated and I do not also want the Fulani to be so hated. Anybody who feels he is enjoying the situation now is not realistic; it is not an enjoyable situation. We appeal to individual groups to sue for calm and we should also be talking to God with regards to the situation we find ourselves in Nigeria.

Do you agree with those who insist that the style of leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is the cause of the crises we are having especially in the security situation in the country?
There are many things going on and some people say he is doing what he is doing because he is the patron of the Miyetti Allah. All these things should be corrected for the future of the country.

One of the narratives coming from some groups and prominent northerners is that southerners, especially the Igbo, are enjoying in the North whereas they make their place (South) uncomfortable for the herders. What is your reaction to that?

Everybody knows the truth. People may pretend but everybody knows the truth. The Igbo man is comfortable in Japan, China, United States, any part of the world. No matter the condition of any place they find themselves, they try to survive there. Anybody making that kind of insinuation knows that Nigeria has fully benefitted from the Igbo man. The Igbo man believes in Nigeria and helps in developing the country. We should all approach what is happening in Nigeria today with an open mind.

So many prominent Northerners are already flying a kite that power will not come down South in 2023 after President Buhari would have spent eight years in office. As a statesman from the South East zone which is yet to have a shot at the presidency since 1999, what is your take on the projection?

It is easy to pontificate. There will be no Igbo citizenship of Nigeria if in 2023, the South East is not given serious chance to produce the president of this country. After being given a serious chance and we could not make it, that could be understood but if anybody begins to say that there is no chance in 2023, that will be very dangerous.

The argument by some people is that the Igbo are not playing good politics by always putting their eggs in one basket. The explanation is that the region has always identified with the PDP and should not expect anything from the APC government?

I do not know how many baskets there are. People who want to follow their minds would always do so. In the 2019 presidential election, the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who everybody knows where he comes from, became an original Igbo man. How could anybody have called on the Igbo to divide themselves and vote one part for Atiku and the other for President Buhari. The Igbo did not vote for one party actually. They voted for both the PDP and the APC but we followed our minds just like we followed former President Goodluck Jonathan. We cannot begin to pretend not to know where we want to go. What I am saying is that when it is our turn, let them vote for us, that is all.

But with the picture you are seeing in the country today, what do you think is the future of Nigeria?

I am sure you know me. For very good reasons, especially being an economist, I believe in one Nigeria. I prefer one Nigeria. Therefore, I believe that instead of having miniature countries called Nigeria, I prefer that Nigeria is a big country where there is peace and where the market is as large as it is and where individuals are at peace with one another. This is what I am thinking. In such a situation, nobody loses. The way I am thinking is the same way other Igbo are thinking about it; they crave for a peaceful large area.

How did the suspension of the controversial Ruga settlement policy come to you? I ask this question because many are calling for outright cancellation of the plan to forestall the backlash over fears of its long term implication on the areas where they are established.

I think there are many mistakes being made by this administration. We have a law which entrusted the land to the state governors and not to the president of the country. Therefore, if we follow our own law which we gave ourselves, it will be better, instead of looking for land that does not belong to the Federal Government.

BOLD IN HIS PRESENCE

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

In Luke 18:9-14, the Lord Jesus gave a parable of the Pharisee who was obsessed by his own virtue, and “religiosity,” contrary to a tax collector who humbly asked God for mercy. The Pharisee, priding himself in his self-righteousness, said to God, “…I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess…” (Luke 18:11-13).

However, the Publican, feeling unqualified to even stand before God, said, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” In the words of the Master, the Publican went away justified, while the Pharisee was condemned in his pride. But who was Jesus teaching this to? It was the Jews; He was teaching them not to trust in their self-righteousess; He was teaching them humility in prayer

Today, there’re Christians who, in reference to this parable, would pray with a beggarly attitude, condemning themselves before the Father. But God doesn’t want that. The Publican prayed that way because he lived under the Old Testament; Jesus hadn’t yet consummated the works of salvation. Now that He has, we’re bold and confident before our heavenly Father. His vicarious sacrifice in our behalf gave us righteousness; thus, we’re bold and unashamed before Him in love.

Therefore, don’t pray, “Please Father, I know I don’t qualify for the blessings I’m asking for, but have mercy on me, Lord.” No! He already had mercy on you and blessed you with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3). One of those blessings is righteousness, which gives you the ability to stand before God without guilt, fear, condemnation or inferiority. You can talk to God directly and fellowship with Him in love, because He’s your loving, gracious, heavenly Father. Hallelujah!

The Lord Jesus is our ability to stand in God’s presence without fear, for He’s our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). He gave us the right to be bold in God’s presence; so, don’t pray as one who isn’t qualified to be in His presence. Be bold.
Notice our opening verse again; it says to “obtain mercy,” not “ask for mercy”; which means, grab it! Whatever you desire, His mercy already made it available; therefore, boldly reach out and take it! Glory to God!

Civil engineer jailed for transferring N540k from his friend's phone






The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on July 26, 2019 secured the conviction of Hammed Lanre, a Civil Engineer, who was arraigned before Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of a Kwara State High sitting in Ilorin, for offence bordering on stealing.
 
He was alleged to have illegally withdrawn the sum of N540,000 using the phone of his friend who had offered the phone to him to access Facebook. Lanre had accessed his friend's PIN and used it to withdraw the money. Operatives of the EFCC, thereafter, located and arrested him in Lagos.
 
He was first arraigned on July 8, 2019 on a two-count charge to which he pleaded “not guilty”. However, realizing the strength of the evidence gathered against him, he approached the EFCC for a plea bargain, which led to him being re-arraigned on an amended charge to which he pleaded “guilty”.

The poster was released last month and showed six of 11 helmets tested this year moved into the top-10 rated models.An important question was whether some helmets were constructed simply to get high marks in the extensive testing that took place for nearly four months.“I think that happens,” says Thad Ide, Riddell’s senior vice president of research and product development. “The NFL addressed it in its poster by graying out some areas. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the proscription of the Shiites’ movement as protests by the Islamic organisation rock Abuja.

Saturday PUNCH reports that Justice Nkeonye Maha issued the order in a ruling in which she also designated the activities of the Shiite organisation in any part of Nigeria “as acts of terrorism and illegality.”


The court restrained “any person or group of persons” from participating in any form of activities involving or concerning the IMN “under any name or platform” in Nigeria.

To complete the process of the proscription of the group, the court ordered the Attorney-General of the Federation “to publish the order proscribing the respondent (Islamic Movement in Nigeria) in the official gazette and two national dailies.”

The judge gave the order following an ex parte application by the Federal Government.


A copy of the ex parte application marked FHC/ABJ/CS/876/2019 which was sighted by Saturday PUNCH on Friday, was filed in the name of the ‘Attorney-General of the Federation.’

Justice Maha granted the four prayers contained in the application shortly after the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, argued the application on Friday.

The IMN was the sole respondent to the application but the group was not represented by a lawyer on Friday since it was an ex parte hearing.


Ruling on Friday, the court made “a declaration that the activities of the respondent (Islamic Movement in Nigeria) in any part of Nigeria amounts to acts of terrorism and illegality.”

The court said, “An order of this honourable court proscribing the existence and activities of the respondent (Islamic Movement in Nigeria) in any part of Nigeria, under whatever form or guise either in groups or as individuals by whatever names they are called.

“An order restraining any person or group of persons from participating in any manner whatsoever in any form of activities involving or concerning the prosecution of the collective intention or otherwise of the respondent (Islamic Movement in Nigeria) under any other name or platform howsoever called or described in any part of Nigeria.

“An order directing the applicant (the AGF) to publish the order proscribing the respondent (Islamic Movement in Nigeria) in the official gazette and two national dailies.”


The Federal Government had filed the application before the court on Thursday, barely 72 hours after a protest by members of the group in Abuja led to a bloody clash between them and the police.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Federal Capital Territory Command, Usman Umar, and a Channels Television journalist, Precious Owolabi, died in the clash with many others injured and property destroyed.

The Shiites have for over two years been regularly taking to the streets particularly in Abuja to demand the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat.


The couple has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since December 2015 after a bloody clash between members of the group and soldiers in the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, in Zaria, Kaduna State.

In the application for the proscription of the group, the Federal Government accused the group of carrying out coordinated violent protests in the country.

It alleged that the “aggressive activities” of members of the group had led to the loss of lives and destruction of private and public property in the Federal Capital Territory and other cities in northern Nigeria.


The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the FCT Command, Nyinnaya Adiogu, who deposed to the affidavit filed in support of the application, also alleged that the Shiites engaged in series of illegal activities, “which are inimical to the corporate interest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Such activities, according to Adiogu, who said he was briefed by the Inspector-General of Police and the Solicitor-General of the Federation included setting up of a para-military guard called ‘HURRAS’.


The group was also accused of “nefarious activities”, murder, attacks on security agents and provocative preaching and hate speeches while working towards an agenda of creating an Islamic State in Nigeria.

The affidavit, which highlighted what it described as “series of violent and unlawful activities” of the group since 1991, stated that the activities of the IMN members under the guise of clamouring for the release of their leader had not only heightened tension and insecurity in the country but also earned the country negative rating globally.


The affidavit stated in part, “On July 22, 2019, the respondent’s members again launched another vicious cycle of violent protests around the Federal Secretariat (Abuja), during which they set a sub-station/Ambulance Bay of the National Emergency Management Agency, containing a truck and an ambulance on fire.

“A Deputy Commissioner of Police, Usman Umar, in charge of Operations in the FCT; a national youth corps member by the name of Precious Owolabi, reporting for Channels TV and others were killed by the protesters. (Copies of media reports by The Nation, Daily Trust, Leadership, Punch and The Sun newspapers dated July 23, 2019, on this incident are attached herewith and marked as Exhibit FGN 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D and 4E).

We won’t abandon our religion –Shiites

However, the spokesperson for the group, Ibrahim Musa, said the government could not proscribe the movement, pointing out that its members were Muslims practising Islam as “revealed” by Prophet Muhammed.

He said the group was neither an association nor a political party that could be proscribed by fiat.

Musa, who spoke to Saturday PUNCH on Friday, noted that the IMN was a mass movement and could not be made to abandon its religion just like that.

Musa said, “Firstly, we are not an organisation or association or a political party that can be proscribed by fiat.

“We are Muslims practising Islam as revealed to Prophet Muhammed under the leadership of his family. Ours is a mass movement, hence we can’t abandon our religion just like that.

“We don’t bear arms, we don’t force others to join us, we are just demanding justice within the ambit of the law, therefore, proscribing us won’t work.


“We can’t say this is what we will do if we are proscribed, because it just won’t work. We are in each and every facet of life like other citizens.”

Three of our members died in police custody, Shiites claim

The IMN also said three of its members who were shot and held in police custody had died.

The sect explained that the deceased were arrested during Monday clash between its members and the police during which about 13 persons, including a deputy commissioner of police, died in Abuja.

The President, Media Forum of IMN, Musa, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said the three detainees died as a result of bullet wounds they sustained during the incident.

The Federal Capital Territory police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, could not be reached for comments as calls to his phone rang out. He had yet to reply to a text message as of the time of filing this report.

FG, IMN may explore truce as negotiator meets El-Zakzaky

Meanwhile, the Federal Government may have begun moves to negotiate with the IMN in order to end the sect’s violent agitations for the release of its leader, El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat.

However, the development had yet to be independently verified as of the time of filing this report on Friday

A senior IMN member, Abdulrahman Abubakar, who confirmed the development on Friday, said the movement was waiting for the government to set up a committee that would negotiate with the Shiite members.


Abubakar, who is the coordinator, Free El-Zakzaky Campaign, explained that the representative of the European country handling the negotiations had met with El-Zakzaky in custody to hear from him.

Also, other sources said the Federal Government might have opened talks with the IMN to stop their protests against the continued detention of their leader.

Sources at the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, Abuja, told our correspondent that the FG was not happy with the protests, which turned violent.
