We’ll bring Alison-Madueke back to Nigeria to face justice- EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, vows






Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has vowed that the anti-graft agency would ensure that former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, is repatriated to Nigeria to face criminal charges against her.
 
Magu made the vow in Ibadan, Oyo state today Wednesday, January 22nd 2020, while fielding questions from journalists during his working visit to the Commission’s Ibadan zonal office. He earlier told journalists when he was at the Ilorin Zonal Office on a working visit yesterday.
 
He said the Commission had traced a number of criminal activities ranging from abuse of office, bribery, fraud, misuse of public funds and money-laundering to the former minister, who is currently at large to avoid questions on alleged criminal activities dotting her years as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
 
The anti-graft chairman, who wondered why her current country of abode has not surrendered her to Nigeria to face justice, said the EFCC would do everything within its power to get her prosecuted this year.
 
Diezani who was the Minister of Petroleum Resources during the Goodluck Jonathan administration has been accused of a wide range of financial impropriety while she was in office. She currently resides in the United Kingdom.
 
 

Three killed by Lassa fever in Kano, 292 on watch list






The recent Lassa fever outbreak has also claimed some lives in Kano State as three people have been confirmed dead while 292 persons who had contact with the late victims of the disease are on the state's health watch list. 
 
Kano's Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa who confirmed the outbreak in a press conference on Wednesday January 22, said two doctors and a patient believed to be the first victim died in the recent outbreak. 
 
He further disclosed that 292 persons who had contact with the late victims are closely being monitored so as to quickly quarantine those who show symptom of the disease and also to contain its spread. 
 
The Nation reported that the first victim of the recent outbreak in the state is a 28-year-old pregnant woman from Gwale LGA who fell sick two weeks after the death of her mother. She was referred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital from a private hospital but died on January 1, 2020.
 
The general public has been urged to avoid poorly cooked meat, avoid contact with suspected or confirmed cases or items soiled by them and to report any suspected case to a health facility nearest to them.

Burn victim who survived a gas explosion shares photos of her amazing transformation






A burn victim who survived a gas explosion has shared photos of her transformation to celebrate her birthday.
 
Yinka Matthews suffered the burn on June 8, 2013, when a gas cylinder in her kitchen exploded when she was trying to cook.
 
Her body was badly burned in the fire and she was in a coma for 2 days. When she regained consciousness, she contemplated suicide and begged the doctor to inject her with a substance that'll kill her.
 
Today, she's well and her skin shows no signs of the burns she once suffered.
 
Sharing photos of what she looked like lying on her hospital bed shortly after the gas explosion and other photos of what she looks like now, she wrote:

Man arrested for allegedly sleeping with his underaged daughters in Lagos







The police in Lagos state have arrested and arraigned a 40-year old man, Terry Ikechukwu Iheme, for allegedly sleeping with his two under aged daughters in his home located at Igbo-olomu in Agric area of Ikorodu Lagos.
 
The suspect who was a senior driver with a company known as  Hi-Tech construction company in Lagos, was arrested while in church by men of the Owutu Police Division on January 12th. 
 
Upon his arrest, Iheme was interrogated and was found culpable. He was then charged before the Ikorodu Magistrate Court 1, Ita Elewa, for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if found guilty over the alleged offence.
 
However, his plea was not taken after the prosecutor, Inspector John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victims were still minors and the offence was capital in nature.
 
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.A. Afeez, ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.

The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
 
The Magistrate then adjourned the matter till 19th February, 2020.

Paul may have been a gutless groom but she's my mum. She's meant to love and protect me above all others.'

Lauren, a business development manager met Paul when he was 18: 'I met him at a local pub – I fancied him straight away.

'He asked for my number and the next day he texted asking to go on a date to the cinema. We started going out straight after that.'

She quickly found herself pregnant and their daughter was born in March 2004, the pair marrying shortly afterwards.

'Five months later we were getting married in a beautiful church ceremony with friends and family. Mum looked on proudly as we exchanged vows.

'He told me that he wanted to be with me for ever.'

Lauren recalled how after Paul walked out she heard rumours he was living with her mother and she saw Julie walking down the street, apparently pregnant.

Muhammad Idul was fishing with his parents in Buton waters off the South East Sulawesi province on Saturday when a needlefish jumped out of the water.
The fish's long slender snout sliced straight through the 16-year-old's neck and pierced the back of his skull.

The student was rushed to hospital for treatment, before undergoing risky surgery to remove the fish from his neck two days later.

'To remove the fish snout, one must be very careful because there is a large vessel in the neck, Professor Dr Syafri K. Arif told local news site Makassar Terkin.

Muhammad is recovering well but remains in hospital due to infection risks.

Maid caught on camera repeatedly dipping toddler’s hand into boiling water (graphic photos/video)







Police in Singapore have arrested a maid accused of scalding a toddler’s hand by dipping it repeatedly into a boiling pot.
 
This comes a week after the alleged incident was caught on video by the 16-month-old girl’s mother, Amy Low Mei Liang, who last night posted the clip online with her allegations.
 
She indicated that the 45-second surveillance footage was filmed in her Buangkok kitchen while she and her husband were at work. She also posted photos of what appear to be the toddler’s scalded and burned hands.

“I felt something was amissed [sic] and I decided to check the CCTV footage at home while waiting for the maid to be picked up. And what I saw was horrifying. The maid, she did it on purpose! It was never an accident! She took my daughter’s hand and dipped her hand inside a boiling pot. I was shaking throughout and made a police report immediately,” Low wrote.
 
The child can be heard screaming in pain after her hand appears to be placed in the water at least twice by the maid in the clip.
 
According to her Tuesday night post, the maid initially denied committing the act, saying that the toddler had touched the pot on her own. Low believed her at first but grew suspicious after the maid insisted she wanted to return to her home, and the maid's agency began arranging her transfer to another family.
 
The couple was alerted to the incident after their 8-year-old daughter called the dad up at work to tell him about her injured sister, according to Low’s post, which had been shared 15,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
 

 
When asked why she hurt the girl, the maid reportedly said she was told doing so would increase her chances of returning home, according to the Facebook post. She is reportedly from Myanmar.
 
Low said the maid told her that an agency representative echoed the same sentiment. Low did not name the agency.
 
She said the maid began working for her a month ago and had said she wanted to go home a week prior to the incident. But the situation appeared to be resolved after the employment agent met with the maid, according to Low.
 
The 30-year-old maid was arrested Jan. 15 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, according to the police, who said their investigation is ongoing.

Next day morning, the maid packed all her belongings and insisted to go back to the agency. I kept assuring her that we never blamed her, as it was just an accident, she can still stay on and work for us. But she was very insistent hence I called the agency up.

The agent told me that he would get someone to pick up the maid, and take it as a transfer case (to transfer the maid out to another family), so that the 6 months loan that I have paid for the maid could be returned to me. I chose to believe and listen to the agent.

I felt something was amissed and I decided to check the CCTV footage at home while waiting for the maid to be picked up. And what I saw was horrifying.
The maid, she did it on purpose! ??It was never an accident! She took my daughter’s hand and dipped her hand inside a boiling pot.

I was shaking throughout and made a police report immediately.

While waiting for the police, I notified the agent of what had happened. The agent started to be agitated and insisted that we should return the maid to agency and end it just like that.

Before the police arrived, I questioned the maid why did she do that to my daughter. She said she wants to go home, she said that her friends taught her to do it, so that she could go home.

And when I asked if the agent was also involved, she said yes – he said that I could go home if I do this! How horrifying! (The maid came to work for us for about a month and she did mention that she wants to go home 2 weeks ago, but all was settled after the agent met and spoke it her. Did the agent teach her to do that when they met?)

During this period, the agent kept threatening and harassing me. Accused me that I am a bad employer – that I abuse the maid hence the maid wanted to leave, which I never do.

The agent’s behavior had gone way over the boundaries hence I made another police report, as I was really frightened that the agent would do something to my family.

But the outcome was disappointing, the police mentioned that unless the agent harassed us again, else they won’t be taking any further action.

I always thought that the police is for the people, this is Singapore, this is supposed to be one of the safest countries in the world, but no, the police can’t do much unless something fatal happened?

I chose to believe in the maid, and she hurt my daughter.

I chose to believe in the agent, and he could be the one who is behind all these.
I chose to have faith in the law and the police force but all I get is to wait for something else to happen before they could really take any further action.

There is nothing I want more than justice for my daughter, is that too much?
I won’t be disclosing further information of the agency. But I plea that all of you to keep a close eye on your domestic helpers"

Gunmen kill Imo businessman






Unknown gunmen have killed a businessman, Ugochukwu Oguine, in Isaiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
 
The man was killed before midnight on Monday,  in front of the Assemblies of God Church along Okigwe /Owerri Expressway in Anara village.
 
According to reports, after he was shot the victim managed to drive to Bonimas petroleum station in Anara his hometown where he eventually died.

FG urges review of building codes to increase LPG penetration

To deepen penetration of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) or cooking gas in the country, there is a need to adjust the building codes and attract at least $2 billion worth of investment in the sector.

Making this recommendation in Lagos, recently, the Programme Manager, National LPG Expansion and Implementation Plan, Dayo Adeshina said, with Lagos State accounting for at least 60 per cent of LPG distribution in the country, efforts should be geared towards deploying the product to transportation, power generation and households than the present level.

Speaking at the State’s executive and stakeholders’ LPG workshop in Lagos, Adeshina stated that the State can leverage its Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system to deploy gas in order to cut costs and reduce the carbon footprint of the state.

He also added that ownership of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders is expected to change by the third quarter of this year, once the proposed re-certification of the cylinders commences.

Adeshina said that the government would also continue to support the LPG industry with fiscal policies and incentives to enable the actualisation of its target of five million metric tonnes of LPG consumption by Nigerians in 2023.

The LPG Programme Manager said standardisation of LPG cylinders and safe use in Nigerian homes could only be achieved when ownership rests strictly with dealers and distributors.

He explained that cooking cylinders ought to be recertified periodically, adding that the average life span of a cylinder was 15 years.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said efforts are underway to reduce the carbon footprint in the state by improving access to the commodity.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the State’s Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola noted that a high margin of the state’s population still depends on dirty fuels, adding that his administration seeks to fast-track the adoption of biofuels.

According to him, the ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation will partner in deepening LPG adoption by making sure that the product is available at the strategic skid plants and at an affordable rate.

He cited the recent fire incidents in the State as one of the reasons for increasing awareness on the proper use of the commodity as well as the need to raise standards of LPG activities in the State.

The State’s Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Lere Odusote stated that his ministry is trying to change the narrative about LPG use in order to increase penetration from the present 15 per cent to 80 per cent by in the next five years.

He noted that per capita consumption remains very low at 0.58kg in the country despite its huge gas reserves.
In his presentation on ‘The Role of SON in the LPG Sector’, Group head, LPG, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Nwaoma Olujie, said: “Most cylinders in circulation are either old (expired) or substandard. LPG Cylinders in circulation are not re-qualified. 

LPG Cylinders in circulation are not refurbished. Most LPG storage tanks installed are not certified. Most storage tanks imported into the country are old. Used LPG cylinders are smuggled into the country. 

Some LPG cylinders in circulation were fabricated locally without requisite quality control checks. Lack of awareness- expiration date, re-qualification, markings. Lack of adherence to safety procedures- distribution, storage, and use. No Cylinder Test Stations available in the Country.”

He expressed concerns stating that these issues have serious consequences on the sector and Nigeria’s economy. Consequently, he called on all stakeholders to cooperate with SON in maintaining standards and other responsibilities.

He said: “LPG will continue to play an increasingly important role in the future with rising income as well as growing awareness about the convenience and health benefits. It is important that we take advantage of the economic and market potentials of the LPG reserve and reposition the country to reap the enormous benefits associated with it.
“Synergy among relevant stakeholders is pivotal in expanding and deepening the usage of LPG in the country. 

While compliance to standards and specifications is key in ensuring global relevance and sustainability. The future role of LPG has begun and we have to be on the speed train.”

He said SON has the responsibility in ‘ensuring the elaboration of standards for LPG, CNG and LNG, LPG vessels- cylinders, storage tanks and LPG vehicles in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.’

He also said SON would continue to make its contributions, “By ensuring that imported cylinders and those produced in Nigeria meet the requirements of standards; by ensuring that all LPG equipment and accessories (valves, regulators, hoses, skid stations, etc.) meet the requirements of standards and also ensuring that newly fabricated LPG vessels are certified before use and by ensuring that all existing LPG vessels used in the country are certified.”

NNPC seeks stakeholders support on pipelines, assets’ protection

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has called for the support of traditional rulers and other stakeholders to curb oil theft and resulting incidents of pipeline fires.

The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyarie made the call during a visit to the scene of the pipeline fire at Ilepo in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos to assess the level of damage.

Kyari, who decried the health, environmental and other hazards caused by the vandals, especially the loss of lives, and sued for synergy of security agencies, traditional leaders, residents and all well-meaning Nigerians in curbing the ugly trend.

He expressed the readiness of the Corporation to work with security agencies and traditional leaders to demolish structures that are within the precinct of its Pipelines Right of Way (PROW) to reduce the incidences of pipeline infractions, insertions and curb petroleum products theft.

He said anybody who was linked to pipeline vandalism either directly or indirectly, including residents of the immediate community, would henceforth face the full wrath of the law.

“Having shut down to contain the damage yesterday, we have now fully restored the line. We are now back on stream. Petroleum products are flowing all the way from Atlas Cove to Mosimi and to Ilorin Depot. We enjoin everyone to work with us in sustaining this,” the GMD appealed.

NAMA begins calibration of landing instrument at Lagos airport

After much delay, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has begun calibration of Category III Instrument Landing System at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), in Lagos.
  
The Guardian learnt that the process begun with the arrival of the newly-acquired, King Air 350i calibration airplane and pre-calibration brief at the weekend.
  
Recall that the flight services across both the international and local operations recently assumed a worrisome dimension over poor visibility and inadequate technology to support safe operations at some of the airports nationwide.
  


The development, which amounts to revenue loss for the industry and inconvenience to air travellers, runs contrary to the Federal Government’s recent investment in Category III Instrument Landing System (ILSs) for Lagos and Abuja airports in excess of $6 million, and purchase of calibration aircraft at N2.59 billion to okay the equipment.
 
Erstwhile non-availability of the calibration aircraft ensured that the new ILSs were not in use when it mattered most during the Harmattan haze.
  
But as at weekend, certified flight instructors and pilots from the United Kingdom (UK) had arrived Nigeria for the exercise, and would be around for three weeks to carry out this calibration exercise, while Nigerian crew, it was learnt, will undergo On-the-Job Training (OJT) during the exercise.
  
In addition, the experts maybe calibrating the navigational aids of airports nationwide, including the ongoing installation of Enugu new ILS/DME, which will be ready soon.
  
A source at the agency confirmed that the newly acquired Calibration Aircraft is ready for the exercise.
  
“To be sure that the exercise does not fail, we have also engaged Omni Blue as a backup in case of any failure being the first exercise to be conducted with the new calibration aircraft.
  
“Our Nigerian crew will be trained as well during the exercise as part of the exposure necessary for their certification,” he said.
 
Calibration is a process that ensures the safety of air navigation by conducting regular flight inspection, calibration of test equipment/avionics systems, surveillance of airspace systems, and certification of navigation aids/associated facility in accordance with the stipulated procedures as recommended in ICAO document 8071, annexes 10 (vol. I & II) and 14, as well as NCAA regulations.
  
Calibration of Instrument Landing System (ILS) are done twice a year-February and November, every six months because of the level of accuracy required, while Very High Frequency (VHF) Omni-Directional Range (VOR) is calibrated once in a year, and the radar system is once every three years. If there is repair work on any of the navigational equipment, or total replacement, it has to be calibrated.

Quote:There was confusion in Mainok, a town along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road in Borno state, after soldiers reportedly opened fire on a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives who engaged Boko Haram fighters in a fierce battle.

SARS is a unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
Villages along the road which connects Borno and Yobe states have been badly affected in the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the last one month.

On Monday, the insurgents stormed Mainok in large numbers. Some soldiers and the villagers were said to have taken cover while the attackers reigned unchallenged.

But a combined team of SARS and Rapid Response Squad operatives moved in to confront the insurgents, according to a resident.

Although the battle against insurgency is strictly handled by the military, there are times that the police get involved. In one of such operations carried out by the police earlier in January, three SARS operatives were shot dead by insurgents.

One of the SARS operatives who was deployed in Mainok after Boko Haram struck on Monday, told TheCable that his team spent over one hour battling the attackers.

He said after the Boko Haram fighters beat a retreat and the police teams were pulling out of the location, they came under attack from soldiers.

The operative, who craved anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said his team members were shocked that the security operatives could attack them.

“We were deployed in Mainok after we got the information that Boko Haram was operating there. By the time we got there, Boko Haram had killed some people and destroyed their houses,” he said.

“We engaged them in a gun battle that lasted for over one hour. We overpowered them and seized two of their Hilux vehicles and weapons.
Surprisingly as we were on our way out, we were attacked by some soldiers. They fired several RPGs (rocket propelled grenade) at us… one of the armoured personnel carriers (APCs) given to us by the IG was partially damaged.”

The source said the officer who led the operation ordered his men not to fire back at the soldiers. He said things got under control after a reinforcement team of soldiers from Benisheikh, a neighbouring town, got to the location.

TheCable obtained a video showing both sides discussing about the fight against insurgents and the attack from soldiers.

In the video, Ibrahim Muhammad, commander of SARS, narrated how his men tackled the insurgents and the encounter with the aggrieved soldiers.

“When we got there, we saw them (Boko Haram fighters); their identity was not even in doubt. Some were even taking cover beside the wall. We were on them, we were charging in, charging out,” Muhammad said in the video.

“Later, we noticed that they had escaped, the RRS briefed me that while they sighted them (the insurgents) moving in convoy on high speed at the southern part. We were then charging in finally, that was when I noticed that the people on my right hand side were soldiers… As we were coming, they were firing us and I said is it this people again?”

Abdul Kahlifa, general officer commanding 7 division of the army, interrupted him saying: “We will investigate it.”

He briefly inspected the bullet holes on the APC and added: “No problem, we are going to sort it out. Are we not happy to see you people like this? Are you people not happy to see us like this? That is how it should be. Well done! Well done.”

A soldier, who spoke off the record told TheCable that it was aggression that led his colleagues to open fire on the police team.

“Boko Haram terrorists dislodged troops in that area and abducted about 10 soldiers. When the other soldiers who were not on ground at the time of the attack came back, they had an order to just open fire. So, they started shooting with that aggression.”

He declined comments when TheCable inquired on the person who gave the order
TheCable understands that Mohammed Aliyu, commissioner of police in Borno, and Olusegun Adeniyi, theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, have met over the issue. It is unclear the resolutions reached at the meeting.

Elder Okon, spokesman of the Borno police command, neither answered calls nor responded to text message TheCable sent seeking his comments on the incident.

But Musa Sagir, spokesman of the army, who responded briefly, told TheCable that he was not aware of the development.

“I’m not aware but I will find out,” he said over the phone.

The attack on the policemen happened on a day some Borno residents said soldiers abandoned them at the mercy of Boko Haram after Babagana Zulum, governor of the state, levelled allegations of extortion against them .

Two weeks ago, Zulum accused soldiers at a checkpoint on Maiduguri-Damaturu road of extorting motorists.

Slumflower starts debate after sharing photos of her unshaved private part in "Bring Back the Bush" campaign






A debate about double standards and keeping pubic hair has ensued after social media influencer Chidera Eggerue, popularly known as The Slumflower, shared a photo of her unshaved private part.
 
The Slumflower posted a photo of her pubes to Twitter. She had on a skimpy bodysuit that did little to cover her lady parts and the hairs there were visible in the photo. 
 
In her caption, she spoke about societal standards of beauty and how women are shamed and called dirty for letting the hairs on their body grow. She added that women are expected to shave every hair on their body to have skin that looks like a baby's own.
 
She went on to reveal that she's starting a Bring Back The Bush campaign to tackle the stigma placed on women for keeping hairs on parts of their body other than on the head and the eyes
 


 
After she shared the photo, there were mixed reactions. Some called her dirty and called her out for keeping her pubic hair.
 
Others defended her, arguing that the same men who shame her and other women for not shaving are the same people who go about without shaving the hair in their nether regions too.
 
Some argued that it is understandable when men keep hairs on their bodies but not so for women. This led to a conversation about double standards as Twitter users asked if hairs are only considered dirty when allowed to grow on women's bodies.

Mother charged after baby hit head and died when she gave birth unexpectedly






A woman, 30, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after her baby hit its head and died when she gave birth unexpectedly in Rome, Italy.
 
According to local media, the woman, a Swedish national, claims she didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labour.
 
The woman told police she did not know she was expecting and the baby was still attached to the umbilical cord when it fell on the floor. She said her mother found her and quickly wrapped the baby up in a towel before calling the emergency services.
 
When paramedics arrived, they found the two women in a room covered in blood.
 
The baby was taken to the Bambino Gesu Hospital in the Vatican City but it died two days later.
 

 
The woman was arrested in Acilia, a town south of Rome, and initially held for attempted murder after doctors said the infant's injuries may have been due to a blow to the head with an object.
 
Her charges were later changed and the woman is being held under house arrest.

Bola Tinubu finally speaks on Amotekun, says it's not a threat to National unity






National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has finally broken his silence on the raging debate surrounding Amotekun, the regional security outfit recently created by South West governors.
 
In a statement released today Wednesday January 22nd, Tinubu faulted claims made by some Nigerians that the country will be put in great danger if Amotekun which was created to confront the insecurity in the South West states, is allowed to function.
According to him, Amotekun does not pose any threat to National unity.

Those claiming that the Federal Government seeks to terribly suppress the Southwest have also lost their compass. Quote:“Amotekun. This issue has dominated recent discourse and media headlines. Distilled to its basics, it concerns how best state governments can assist with the safety and security of their residents. This is a matter of serious concern entitled to sober thought. However, it has been turned into a political tug-of-war. Fierce, often unthinking rhetoric, for and against, has crossed the lips of too many Nigerians. More subjective talking than objective thinking has been the fuel of this outburst.


Question those in favour of Amotekun. Most have but the vaguest notion about it. They know few details yet vigorously attribute to its opponents the most negative intentions. Ask those who oppose Amotekun. They are equally ignorant of its provisions. They oppose the initiative not on its merits but merely because it was proposed by their political opponents or because they don’t see an avenue for personal gain from it.


While colourful, the rhetoric has been disconcerting. How people have mishandled this matter demonstrates that we still have far to go in perfecting this democracy. Too much energy has been spent distorting this issue instead of seeking a resolution that supports local enhancement of security while keeping the constitution intact. If this becomes the standard for how we handle disagreements then we will obscure Nigeria’s path forward with our own rubbish.


In this matter, I do not see malign intent in the differences of opinion between the SW Governors as authors of Amotekun and the Attorney-General as the primary law enforcement officer of the Federal Government. Shorn of the overly dramatic language, what lies before us is but a step in the evolution of our federalism.

This is an opportunity to more clearly define that federalism; but one cannot attain this better, more functional definition through overblown, emotional language. Objectivity and calmness are required.

To a significant degree, the enduring quality of our republic will be established by the sagacity with which we handle disagreements regarding the division of power between federal and state governments. Such disagreements are inevitable. This is not the first. Nor will it be the last. We must devote our energies more toward solving problems rather than amplifying them.


Seeking to fulfil their mandates by helping protect their people, the governors of the Southwest collectively established a program to buttress existing security mechanisms.

Seeking to protect the constitution as best he could, the Attorney-General offered his opinion on what he believed the governors have sought to do. No one can blame either party for seeking to fulfil what they genuinely see as their public duty.
Until now, I have deliberately maintained a studied silence regarding Amotekun. Many have tried to goad my swift public reaction.

Those who have taken this road did so not because they care about Amotekun or even the people it intends to help protect. They did so knowing this had become a delicate and emotional issue for many. These cynics did so with the adversarial hope that, in haste, I might misspeak or misstep in a manner they could twist to their political advantage.


Such people are possessed of a mercenary aspect that permits them to sacrifice almost anything, even jeopardize the very foundations of our political unity, if they might exact personal gain from the upheaval. In that they know no nobler purpose than their own appetites, we should feel sorry for them.

However, we must not allow our sympathies for their barren condition to persuade us that there is worth in their destructive misconduct. They must be left to the consequences of their own devices.


If truly I am a political leader as I am often described, then I have not the luxury of hasty, ill-conceived utterances. There are those who will use inflamed words to spark the passions of others. This may bring transient applause. But when the cheers fade, we shall only have further descended because their words were never inclined toward resolution and long-term improvement but toward short-term popularity and perpetual confrontation.


I believe in this nation and its benign prospects. I dearly love its people, all of them. Over the years of our existence, they have suffered much. Yet they still hold forth with heroic patience and an extraordinary optimism born of strong faith. To these people I owe my best. I shall not treat them cheaply or bandy their emotions like some errant football. The welfare of this good and decent people is my overriding concern.


Equally, I do not cow to the demands of those who press for me to make a premature statement on an important issue. Again, that is a game devised by those who care more about political cleverness than the quality of governance. I chose to talk when my position has been made ripe by a collection of the facts and a reasonable assessment of those facts.”

A landlord said he "nearly cried" when he saw the state his tenants left his house in.
 
Daniel Needes, from Bridgend in Wales, had rented the house out for two years. He said the house had been in "immaculate condition" after it was renovated by his late father and had been kitted out with new appliances.
 
However, less than two years later, the tenants suddenly moved out without notice. When the landlord went to the house, he was shocked to discover the property had been completely trashed.
 

 
Daniel, a single father, said: "I went down to the house as soon as I could and that's when I saw what they’d done.
 
"To be honest, when I first saw it I nearly cried. They had completely trashed it."
 
He claims the family didn't even tell him they were moving out. He says he only found out they had left when he received a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions - which paid the rent directly to Daniel - saying payments had stopped because he was no longer their landlord.
 

 
Photos of the interior of the house shared online are an eyesore.
 
In the kitchen, the tenants had left so many plastic carrier bags, crushed boxes, binbags and empty food containers. The trash completely covered the kitchen floor.

Dirty things were piled high in the sink, a greasy fryer was left on the side and a chest freezer half-filled with defrosted food was left wide open.
 

 
Daniel said the family had left rotting food in the kitchen, bathroom and in bags that were strewn throughout the house as well as prescription medication including tablets and inhalers.
 
"The house stank. They had turned it into a rubbish tip," he said.
 
Shocking photos show that wallpaper had been torn down, walls had been left with holes in them, doors were broken and the once-cream carpet was covered with dirt and black stains.
 

 
The tenants had also left behind heaps of unwanted belongings such as clothes and toys throughout the house.
 
Daniel estimates repair work will be in the thousands.
 
He said: "He spent five years doing it up and it was immaculate, it looked like a show home.
 
"He passed shortly afterwards. I was planning on moving back into the house but I had to move in with my mother so I decided to let it out.
 
"I'm just glad he isn't here to see the state they've left it in as that would crush him."
 

 
Daniel said the tenants also racked up around £1,000 in arrears on the gas and electricity meters which had cut off.
 
He said the tenant's behaviour has taught him a lesson and he'll be more careful when renting the house in future.
 
He said: "I'll get the house back into a good condition and then rent it out, this hasn't put me off. But I'm definitely going to be more cautious in the future."

Police summon Lesotho's Prime Minister for questioning over the death of his second wife who was murdered weeks before he remarried

















Police have summoned Thomas Thabane, 80, the prime minister of Lesotho for questioning over alleged links to the 2017 murder of his estranged wife, Lipolelo Thabane who was shot dead just weeks before he remarried.
 
Lipolelo, 58, was gunned down outside her home in the country's capital Maseru in June 2017, two days before the inauguration of her husband, who later remarried two months after the murder.
 
The couple had been embroiled in bitter divorce proceedings after Lipolelo reportedly refused to divorce her husband and won a court battle to retain her privileges as the country’s first lady until their formal separation. 
 
Now, Lesotho's police chief has invited the Prime Minister for questioning over claims that call records showed that someone at the murder scene had called Thabane’s mobile phone on the day of the crime.
 
Police want to know why a call was made to his mobile phone from the scene after the killing.  
 
Police commissioner Holomo Molibeli wrote to Mr. Thabane demanding to know the caller's identity and the 'subject matter' of the call from the murder scene.
 
He wrote: 'The investigations reveal that there was a telephonic communication at the scene of the crime in question ... with another cell phone. The cell phone number belongs to you.'
 
'This case does not only attract the attention of Basotho nation (Lesotho) but it is of international concern,' deputy police commissioner Paseka Mokete said in a statement.
 
This comes days after Thabane said he planned to resign after senior members of the All Basotho Convention (ABC) party accused him of hampering investigations into the killing. 
 
'As the prime minister I have undertaken an oath to respect and protect the constitution and all other laws of Lesotho,' he told reporters in Maseru, promising to 'get to the bottom of this matter'.
 

A video which showed an 8-year-old boy who belongs to a Boko Haram faction called the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), executing a Christian hostage in Borno State has been released by ISIS’s Amaq news agency.

The video was released just after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Rev Lawan Andimi was executed by another faction of Boko Haram.

In the horrific footage shared, the boy was heard saying "We won't stop until we take revenge for all the blood that was spilled".

Commenting on the video, Rita Katz who is the Director of SITE Intelligence Group which is an organisation which tracks the activities of jihadist groups, said it is not just another piece to ISIS’ honed-in targeting of Christians of recent years, but also a throwback to its older propaganda from Iraq and Syria of brainwashed children carrying grisly executions.

The hotel is said to belong to the family of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

The hotel has been under litigation between the Federal Government and the family of the late Head of the State since 2001.

The Abacha family was said to have won the case both at the lower and the appellate courts. It is now before the Supreme Court.

However, officials of the state, led by the Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency, on Wednesday night demolished the hotel.

Meanwhile, the restraining order was based on an ex parte motion brought before the court by the hotel’s management through the lawyer to the Abacha family, Mr Reuben Atabor, praying the court for an order of interim injunction restraining el-Rufai and agencies of the state government from demolishing, taking over, or tampering with the property.

The hotel management, in the application, also sought an interim injunction restraining el-Rufai and agencies of the state government from further trespassing on the property pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Consequently, Justice Hanatu Balogun of the state high court, upon hearing the ex parte motion, granted the order.

“I grant an order restraining the defendants from taking over the property in issue and from further tampering with same or trespassing on same or developing or assigning same pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,” she stated in the order.

The case was then adjourned till February 4.

The Supreme Court on Monday affirmed the election of Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state. As the lawyer to General Jeremiah Useni, the candidate of the PDP, what is your take on that judgment and others granted by the Supreme Court?

I must say that I am surprised by the governorship ruling on the Plateau governorship election. We had a very good case but the Supreme Court being the final court of law, once they have finished their judgment, they have finished; but that does that not mean they cannot or have not made mistakes. For example, we formulated about 18 issues but they look into only one issue. Even the interlocutory appeal that we had won at the Supreme Court on 23rd September last year which the Tribunal ignored and the Court of Appeal also ignored, the Supreme Court did not touch it at all. We also cited the case of Hope Uzodinma vs INEC of last week and the case of Governor Aminu Tambuwal that was also decided on Monday morning as being in our favour but they did not touch any of them at all.

One point I must make is that the electoral regime as presently constituted is firmly skewed against a petition which is expected to prove that you won in every polling unit, either across the state or across the nation; and all of this must be done within a limited period of time because the period provided for commencement and conclusion of elections cannot be elasticated. The Supreme Court itself had said so that it is like the Rock of Gilbratar which cannot be moved. What it means is that politicians go out of their way during the elections to kill, maim, burn, bribe and yet you see them boasting publicly that their opponents should go to the Tribunal. They do this because they know that the constitutional and electoral obstacles erected on the path of the petitioner are so gargantuan that climbing them is like climbing Mount Everest. That is what encourages politicians to mess up the system; that also encourages INEC instead of being impartial and independent, they are compromised. So, we have a situation where Presidents, Governors, Local Government chairmen, lawmakers and even councilors are being conceived, incubated and delivered from the hallowed chambers of the courts of law rather than through the electoral process which gives vent to the voice of the people. So, the people’s votes are continually being relegated to the background in preference of a supervisory authority called the courts that now delivers candidates to the people.

What do you think can be done to address this anomaly?

I think that it is high time for the Justice Mohammed Uwais Electoral Committee Reform report and the Senator Ken Nnamani Electoral Committee report to be dusted up by the federal government so as to rejig and reinvent the wheel of our electoral process. Otherwise, what we are practicing today is not necessarily democracy, which is government of the people, by the people and for the people as stated by Abraham Lincoln in his 1863 Gettysburg declaration, but the government of the powerful, by the few and of the ruthless. That is not good for us as a nation.


On the Imo governorship election, some lawyers have said there is still hope for Emeka Ihedioha as the Supreme court can still review the case. What is your take on that?

No! Generally, under the Supreme Court rules, except when they commit what we called clerical error, the Supreme Court rules forbids the Supreme Court reviewing its own case because it is the final court. Otherwise, there will be no end to litigation. People who are saying the Imo judgment can be set aside maybe really do not know the legal position.

What is your perspective on the raging controversy surrounding the South-West security outfit, Operation Amotekun which has been declared as illegal by the federal government?

The federal government cannot declare Amotekun illegal. They have no powers to do so. The federal government has its own police force in section 214 and 215 of the constitution. The same section makes the governor of a state the Chief Security Officer of his own state; meaning that within the territorial jurisdiction of a state, a governor has to provide security for its own citizens. He doesn’t have to wait for the federal government. Amotekun is like the Hisbah that has been operating in the North for years which was set up to fight Boko Haram and other criminal vices. There is nothing special about Amotekun. We have the Agbekoya before.

There is hardly a state in Nigeria today that doesn’t have one vigilante group or the other. They are all meant to take care of the security of such states. Within a federal system of government, each federating unit is supposed to be independent and autonomous within its territorial area.

The daughter of a former Commissioner for Tourism in Plateau state, Mr Peter Mwadkon (pictured) has been kidnapped by gunmen.
 
Miss Christie Peter was kidnapped by the gunmen at her sister’s house in Kwata Community, Jos South Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
 
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the community around 2am, broke into their house and abducted the 26-year-old graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
 
A member of the community, Emmanuel Choji, said that the abductors contacted the victim's famiy and demanded N5m as ransom.

SELF-SUFFICIENT IN HIM


All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:15).

In Exodus 3, when God appeared to Moses and told him he’d deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt, Moses asked the Lord, “…Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” (Exodus 3:13 NKJV). In the ensuing verse 14, the Bible says, “Then Moses said to God, Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, “The God of your fathers has sent me to you,” and they say to me, “What is His name?” what shall I say to them?”


Notice that He didn’t say, “Tell them, ‘I AM’ is my Name”; that’s not His Name, but a description. He’s the Self-Sufficient and Self-Existent One. He created everything from Himself; He needed no material from anywhere else to do anything.

The Bible says, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3).

What’s important here, that’s so easily overlooked, is about what He expects of you. What does He want you to become? What has He made you? Several years ago, I was preaching a message, and I said, “If you don’t say YOU ARE, others will say you’re not; therefore, you have to say YOU ARE.” What does it mean, when you say you are? It’s like God saying, “I AM.”


Remember, you’re created in His image; therefore, like Him, whatever you require will reproduce from within you; not from outside. In our theme verse, Jesus said, “All things that the Father hath are mine…” (John 16:15). This same Jesus delivered everything to us. The Bible says we’re joint-heirs with Him (Romans 8:17). Everything you require for the life of absolute success, victory, dominion, glory and righteousness has already been granted you in Christ.

Why was Jesus the way He was? It’s because He knew who He was (“I AM”); He had no consciousness of lack. He wants us to come to the same understanding that He’s made us exactly like Him. We’re His reflection; icon and glory! In Him, you’re self-sufficient.

I’m created in God’s image and likeness; therefore, I’m self-sufficient, for as He is, so am I in this world! Everything I require for the life of absolute success, victory, dominion, glory and righteousness are inside me. I live triumphantly today, and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

4 Fulani herdsmen arrested for raping 4 sisters






Four Fulani herdsmen who raped 4 sisters at Manger village in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State have been arrested. 
 
The four suspects identified as Hamisu Mohammed, 18, Rayanu Mohammed, 15, Mustapha Yunusa, 15 and Abbas Salisu, 17, accosted the minors on their way home before committing the sad act. 
 
Recounting how the incident occurred, one of the girls said they were threatened with sticks and later struck with it by the suspects after they resisted. The herdsmen then reportedly took turns to rape the injured girls. 
 
The suspects were however apprehended after the sisters ran to a nearby village Luwapem, where they raised an alarm. 
 
The herdsmen who are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, admitted to conspiring to rape the girls and eventually doing it. Prosecuting Inspector E. A. Inegbenoise told newsmen that the suspects will be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Tuesday January 21, described the execution of Adamawa State CAN chairman, Rev. Lawan Andimi by Boko Haram as a shame on the Nigerian government. 
 
CAN's Chairman, Rev. Samson Ayokunle faulted the security architechture of the country as he wondered if the Federal Government and security agencies are still claiming the war against Boko Haram has been won.

Quote: “What has become of Intelligence gathering of our security agencies? Is this government and the security agencies still claiming that the war against these criminals in religious garments has been won despite all the killings?
“Is the government sincere in fighting these terrorists or merely paying lip service to the war against the insurgency? Is there any hope that our security is guaranteed under this government?”

Whether it is the competitiveness to play another game after your college career has ended, or the chance to work closely with these players before the draft, the Texans can't get enough of the talent at the Senior Bowl. Tight end Jordan Akins is a perfect example. The 3rd round pick from Central Florida worked directly with Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien and his coaching staff at the game.Akins was never an overly productive player at Cental Florida. His career highs came in 2017 with 30 catches for 459 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He was a part of the 2017 Central Florida team that went undefeated and beat Auburn and claimed a national title of their own. When Akins joined the team in the 2018 offseason, the position group was in transition as C.J. Fiedorowicz (another Senior Bowl guy) left the team due to repeated concussion issues and Stephen Anderson didn’t made the progress the Texans had hoped. To give him company, the Texans drafted TE Jordan Thomas three rounds after they selected Akins. In the preseason, the Texans appeared to have found a gem with Thomas at tight end after he caught two touchdowns against the Chiefs in the first preseason game. In his first year for the Texans, Akins was only seeing about one or two targets per game. His route tree was relatively short and consisted of mainly post and out routes off play action and short yardage plays. He excels at finding open ground in the defense Johnathan Joseph Jersey White , but does have issues separating from defenders when initially covered. He ended the season with 17 receptions for 255 yards. I’ll give him another thing, he is a load to bring down in the open field, that is for sure. If he can’t evolve or break through as an elite pass catcher, the ground game may be a source of playing time for him. Akins should grade out as the best blocking tight end between him, Jordan Thomas Womens Lamar Miller Jersey , and rookie Khale Warring, and this training camp will be critical to his development in the run game. The biggest threat to Akins is the progression of rookie Khale Warring. Warring has the intangibles that Akins yearns for and is only 22 years old. All the reports from camp about Warring have been very positive, which slides Akins down the depth chart right off the bat. Then, there is the threat to Akins’ blocking snaps with Darren Fells in the picture. Akins is a more well-rounded tight end than Fells, but Fells’ reported excellence in the blocking category of the position could put Akins into a free fall on the depth chart. Akins’ variability is one of the highest on the team. The Texans took him in the third round of last year’s draft for a reason: they see a lot of potential in his game. Akins has a ton of tools he can use and his unique story can get him far on this team. Akins’ will no doubt be an asset in the run game and play action passing attack, but his development in both categories will set the stage for his playing time in the upcoming season. As it turns out, the differences between Gurley and Mixon’s production can be found before the play even begins.Jet motions for the winIt’s hard to watch the Rams’ rushing attack without noticing how much pre-snap movement occurs. Though I didn’t keep track, a healthy portion of Gurley’s attempts came after Los Angeles set a receiver in motion and snapped the ball right as he’s passing behind quarterback Jared Goff. This is what’s known as a jet motion, and it’s been a known staple of the Rams’ offense. Similar to play action, the offense does not need to hand the ball off to the motioning receiver beforehand to get the defense to bite on the motion itself. The threat of a handoff will always keep the defense honest to some degree, and this was extremely evident in some of Gurley’s big runs.The more you can slow down the defense, the better. Too much pre-snap movement can make your offense susceptible to false starts and potential confusion at the snap, but the Rams know how to keep it simple and make the defense react faster than they have too. Lightening the box for Mixon while putting the defense in compromising positions right before the snap is a clear path to success.Attacking the weakside doesn’t make you weakThe running game is more or less a numbers game, and the numbers associated with the defense matters more than the numbers associated with the offense. Running behind more blockers isn’t advantageous to the running back if he’s running into an area with more defenders. The defense has to account for the extra gaps created by the strongside of the formation, and this creates more opportunities for the blocking to fail. The Rams did a good job last year of making the defense account for the strongside, and then attacking the more spacious weakside of the formation.Gurley’s most common run was outside zone towards the left B-gap, right behind the legend himself, Andrew Whitworth. It was his most effective gap to run through in terms of explosive plays per ShaprFootballStats.com and it rarely mattered how the defense looked pre-snap to defend it — the Rams’ offensive line was that good at first-level blocking. When they loaded the right side and took attention away from the left side Andy Dalton Jersey , it made the play-call much more effective.Just because you can pound the ball down the center of the defense’s throat doesn’t mean you have to. The plan for MixonIn a phrase: work smarter, not harder.In just his second year, Mixon ascended his production to the top of the NFL after a disappointing rookie season and as we now know, how he collected that production is nothing short of impressive. It’s not up to Mixon to vastly improve in 2019, it’s up to design of the offense to do so.Luckily, early signs show that may be happening. Zac Taylor and his staff on offense have plenty of positive tape of Mixon to create the foundation of a rushing offense, and it only helps that Mixon and Gurley move and create so similarly on their own. Neither are necessarily elusive runners, but they’re hard to stop in the open field. Mixon might even be better at creating yards when his blocking can’t, which is why he’s an effective runner out of the shotgun.If the plan is to use Mixon more like Gurley, then the recent news regarding Jonah Williams and Cordy Glenn makes a lot of sense. With Williams at left tackle and Glenn at left guard, the Bengals’ two-best blockers (sans Clint Boling if he’s out of the picture) will be charged with paving the way for most of Mixon’s runs like Whitworth and former Rams’ left guard Rodger Saffold did for Gurley. Of course the rest of the line has to step up, but there’s only so much you can ask for.The relationship between the run and pass will be interesting to watch unfold this season in Cincinnati, and we’ll close out this series with a look at how to get Andy Dalton back and rolling like Jared Goff has been in the City of Angels.

Oxford English Dictionary said it has added 29 Nigerian words and expressions in the January updates to the dictionary.

“The majority of these new additions are either borrowings from Nigerian languages, or unique Nigerian coinages that have only begun to be used in English in the second half of the twentieth century, mostly in the 1970s and 1980s,” OED’s World English editor Danica Salazar said in a statement.

‘Next tomorrow,’ is one of the new entries into the dictionary. The expression is regarded as the oldest among the over 25 uniquely Nigerian words/expressions. According to Salazar, ‘next tomorrrow’ was first used in written English as a noun in 1953, and as an adverb in 1964.

Kannywood, which refers to the film industry in northern Nigeria, is deemed the youngest among the lot.

Others such as ‘buka,’ ‘bukateria’ and ‘severally’ also made the dictionary.

Nigerian Institute of Journalism lecturer sacked for sexually assaulting a student






Tene John, a Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) lecturer has been sacked by the institution's management for sexually assaulting one of his students Ms Anjola Ogunyemi.
 
The student disclosed that she was sexually assaulted while alone with Mr Tene in his office. Ogunyemi said the randy lecturer who tried to forcefully have sexual intercourse with her, freed her after she promised to allow him have his way next time. 
 





 
Though the lecturer denied the allegation, the Registrar of the institution confirmed he was sacked after being subjected to a probe. 
 
A statement released on Monday January 20 read; 
 

Quote: “Our attention has been drawn to a post on the social media, by one of our students, Ms Anjola Ogunyemi in National Diploma One, alleging sexual harassment against one of our part-time lecturers, Mr Tene John.
“Ms Ogunyemi’s petition to the school on the alleged sexual harassment was received on December 19, 2019 – the day of our vacation. And the Provost called her on that same day to acknowledge the receipt of her petition, assuring her that the matter will be looked into appropriately.
“The institution, thereafter, set up a panel of three lecturers: two females and a male. The panel sat and took evidence from the two parties and witnesses concerned. On Friday, January 17, 2020 – the last day of its sitting, the accused and the accuser were made to confront each other at the panel.
“It was difficult for the panel to establish concretely a case of sexual harassment in its report because there were glaring contradictions in the testimonies of the two parties and witnesses.
“We wish to place on record that Ms Ogunyemi walked out on the panel and ran to the social media to tell her story on the day the panel’s final sitting.
“In view of our institution’s zero tolerance for improper conduct on the part of the staff and students, and in light of the interest the matter has generated, the following decisions have been taken: the lecturer concerned, Mr Tene, who has been on our faculty for over a decade has been relieved of his appointment, we thank him for his services and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
“Ms Ogunyemi, who has just returned from a one-year suspension over indecent dressing and gross misconduct is advised to adhere strictly to her matriculation oath of channeling her grievances to the authorities of the institution.
“We wish to reiterate that our staff and students are governed by rules and regulations and it is important we comply accordingly.”

Nigerians on Twitter are mocking the chairman of Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, James Momoh, after he went on stage to shout ''I have a dream that Nigeria will have 24 hours power''.
 
Momoh was attending a conference centered on electricity and as he was about to make his speech, he channeled his inner ''Martin Luther King'' and shareshhis dream of stable electricity power supply to Nigerians.
 
Nigerians responded by saying you cannot ''motivationally'' talk electricity into existence. They pointed out that when Martin Luther King used the famous lines, he was already working and not dreaming.

Iranian politician in fiery speech announces $3million reward for 'whoever kills Trump'



                     


An Iranian politician has announced a $3million reward for anyone who kills US President Donald Trump, as revenge for the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani early this month by a US drone strike. 
 
                      
 
Ahmad Hamzeh, parliamentary speaker from central Kerman province, where Soleimani hails from, told lawmakers on Tuesday:
 'We will pay a three million dollar award in cash to whoever kills Trump.' 
 
                        
 
Kerman is the home province of Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian Quds leader who was killed in a drone strike by Trump, and whose death the regime has sworn to avenge. 
'Will your embassies in the region be safe? If your embassies are plotting to kill our innocent people, are we allowed to destroy them?' he said.
 
Also speaking about US claims that they killed Soleimani as a preventative measure, the politician said.
'Are your military bases and centers in the region for benevolence or to harm nations? Are we allowed to destroy all your bases in a preventive attack?'
 
Speaking about the 2015 nuclear deal, abandoned by the Trump administration, he said: 
'If we had nuclear weapons today, we would have been immune from the threat.'
'Now that Europe has abandoned its commitments, I suggest moving out of the [Non-Proliferation Treaty] as soon as possible and launching nuclear fission blasts. 
'Let us announce to the world that we have joined the Nuclear Power Club.' 
 

18 high profiled looters will soon be extradited by EFCC - Magu






The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu on Tuesday January 21, said that 18 high profiled looters will soon be extradited to different parts of the world to answer corruption charges. 
 
Magu who disclosed that the fight against corruption will be renewed this year, revealed the anti-graft agency will also be bringing back looters hiding outside the country. 
 
He told reporters in Ilorin;
 

Quote:“The request of President Muhammadu Buhari in London for the extradition of alleged looters is just the beginning of the fight against corruption in Nigeria. We are going to extradite more Nigerians to come and face trial in Nigeria.
“We will bring back all the looters who are hiding outside this country. The fight against corruption has just started I am telling you. It will be renewed this year. It is going to be vigorous.”

Well-dressed man nabbed after hiding cloth he stole from an Abuja boutique in his underwear (photos)






A well-dressed man was caught red-handed shoplifting in a boutique in Gwarimpa area of Abuja. 
 
The suspect was spotted via CCTV hiding some clothes in his underwear after a salesgirl at the boutique went to notify her boss of the price they bargained for an outfit he claimed he wanted to buy. 
 
He was forced to bring out the clothes he hid before being handed over to the police. Media personality, Gwen Divy Ifeson wrote;

Saleh Hassan, the National Chairman of Miyetti Allah, has stated that despite the achievement of Yoruba's educationally, they are the most primitive Nigerians in terms of political culture.
 
Saleh said this when he appeared on Channels this morning to talk about the new security outfit created by South West governors, Amotekun.  According to Saleh, Miyetti Allah as a group sees Amotekun as an extension of OPC which has a history of violence.

Mother of two serving as a surrogate mother for another family dies during childbirth













A San Diego mother of two who was serving as a surrogate for another family, died tragically during childbirth last week, according to a GoFundMe set up to help her family.
 
In the fund-raiser, created by a close family friend named Jaime Herwehe, it was revealed that Michelle Reaves started helping another family have children after she had her own, and was on her second surrogacy for the same family before her sudden death.
 

Michelle, who was described as a "mama, wifey and beautiful soul," passed away last week after “one complication led to the next and she fought for her life.” The child survived, but she didn’t.
 
“For those of you who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Michelle, she will always be known for the love she had for her family. Michelle has the best, most sarcastic, funny personality and always had you laughing. Michelle and Chris have two beautiful kids, Gage and Monroe who my heart breaks for, knowing they won’t grow old with their mama.”
 
“No one deserves to lose their mama so young or the mother of their children.”
