Two years after former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode commissioned a statue of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti at Allen Avenue in Ikeja, the monument has been pulled by the state's government.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile who confirmed that the statue has been pulled down, said the roundabout where the statue was situated made the list of four roundabouts identified by the current administration as the major cause of gridlock in the state.

Other roundabouts that causes gridlock in the state were said to be located at Ikotun, Lekki-Epe expressway and Maryland. Akosile also told newsmen that the artwork will be relocated to a spot where it won't cause traffic jam.

Here are before and after photos of the spot the statue was placed at;

Househelp commits suicide in Lagos

18 year old Abigail Felix, pictured above, who was working as a househelp for a family in the Alausa, Ikeja area of Lagos state, has allegedly committed suicide.

Abigail who is from the Republic of Benin, was said to have taken the deadly DD insecticide without leaving any suicide note.

According to a police source, Abigail who moved in with her employers, the Akinrinmades, two years ago, was responsible for cleaning the house as well as attending to customers at her madam's shop. A day before her death, Abigail had reportedly left the house without informing anyone of her whereabout. After searching for her without any result, a case of a missing person was lodged at the nearest police station.

The police says the next day, Abigail snuck into one of the rooms in the house. When interrogated, she failed to disclose where she was the previous night. She allegedly ran into another room in the house where she locked herself in and refused to open the door. Efforts to get her out failed until the door was pulled down and she was found with foamy substances around her mouth with a bottle of the DD insecticide by her side.

She was immediately rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital LASUTH where she died as doctors battled to save her life.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, Bala Elkana, says Abigail's body has been released to the family as no foul play was suspected.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY 14TH JANUARY.

HE NOURISHES AND CHERISHES YOU

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church (Ephesians 5:29).

The Lord Jesus, in John 10:11 & 14, said, “I am the good shepherd….” The Greek word for “shepherd” is “poimēn” and it means “Pastor”; one that’s called of God to nourish, carefully protect and cherish the flock. This is what Jesus does to the Church; He nourishes and cherishes it. The Apostle Paul implied this in his Spirit-inspired admonition in our theme verse.

How does the Lord nourish the Church? He does it through the ministry of the Word! It brings to mind something the Lord said to me while in prayer many years ago. He said, “Feed my sheep.” While I was still pondering on the statement, He said it again. At this time, tears flowed freely down my eyes, because I knew what He meant. He wanted me to teach the Word; and I’ve been at it ever since.

What the Lord said to me back then parallels His encounter with Peter in John 21:17. After asking Peter three consecutive times, “Do you love me?” and Peter answered in the affirmative, He said to him, “Feed my sheep.” He was telling Peter to feed them with the Word. The Word is food for the spirit, and anyone who dares to believe and receive the Word is nourished, built up, and sustained in the victorious life.

In Acts 20:32, the Spirit writes, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

The Church is very important to the Lord. The Bible says “...we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones” (Ephesians 5:30). We’re one with Him. And through the ministry of the Word, He sustains, energizes, strengthens and prepares us for His soon return: “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:26-27).

Even now, the Lord is nourishing you as you study this devotional. He’s doing something to your spirit; He’s invigorating and vitalizing you through and through, because He cherishes you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for your Word that builds me up and positions me on the right course in life. I’m completely given to the ministry of the Word in study and meditation, and therefore, nurtured, edified, developed and sustained in the victorious life. I walk in divine health, prosperity, and enjoy unprecedented increase in every area of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

14TH JANUARY.

KINDLY DAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for granting me wisdom in my spirit, thus making me a master in life. Christ is my wisdom, and I have insight into reality: all things are made manifest to me by the true light of God’s Word.

I thank You for granting me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know You more and more, with my understanding enlightened for the precision and accuracy of the Spirit at all times. I walk in the light, as He is in the light.

I walk in glory, strength, victory, and righteousness today. My life is the manifestation of the wisdom and grace of God! I am what God says I am.

My faith is producing undeniable results; I prevail over every challenging situation because the greater One lives in me, and I am strong in Him, and in the power of His might, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Francis Fadahunsi: Sack Hameed Ali Over Fraud, Incompetence
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 01-14-2020, 08:49 AM - Replies (1)

Quote:The vice chairman, Senate Committee on Customs, Francis Fadahunsi, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, over alleged fraud and incompetence in the service.

Speaking in an interview with the Punch on Sunday, Mr Fadahunsi, the Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, alleged that Mr Ali’s sheer incompetence and poor border control had resulted in the proliferation of small arms was now threatening the nation’s existence.

According to him, Customs boss allowed traders to smuggle contraband goods and items into the country, despite a ban by the Federal Government.

Mr Fadahunsi further said: “I told the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hammed Ali (rtd.), that his border management is poor.

“You don’t need to carry guns and start running after those people who have settled your boys. It is wrong, they paid bribes to the boys at the border and they are still running after them now.

“The border management is poor and it has failed. The same failure is seen at the ports, and that is the cause of port congestion.”

The senator said a competent professional should be in charge of Customs.
“Soldiers are not trained to generate revenue.

They are trained to buy ammunition and to kill.
“This man met more than 30,000 personnel in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and today they are not more than 15,000 left, he has sacked all of them.

“If you see the fraud in the Customs now, you will be shocked, but nobody must talk. They make noise to cover this up, but if you go into their books, you will be surprised.

“Customs headquarters was awarded for N2.7 billion then, but today the project is going to about N30 billion.

“The project has not been completed but the furniture contract for the uncompleted building has been awarded.

“Who is fooling who? If Mr. President sees what the man is doing, he will run out of the country.
“That is why I am saying that Mr. President should put a technical person from Customs there; if not, the man will run the place aground.

“The CG wants to recruit 3,200 persons and he paid N1.6 billion to a consultant to recruit 3,200 persons. The money is not for training but to just recruit them.

“I asked him if the Nigerian army ever used consultants to recruit personnel and he said no. He said Customs officers are corrupt and he is bringing in a consultant to recruit 3,200 persons and he will pay the firm N1.6 billion.

“Are you recruiting five million people? The N1.6 billion is even in the budget and that is one of the reasons the budget was being queried by the leadership of the Senate,” Mr Fadahunsi said.

Chaos on Iranian streets as Iranian military allegedly use live ammunition to disperse protesters calling for regime change (video)

Videos have surfaced showing Iranian military and security forces allegedly firing live ammunition and tear gas to disperse demonstrators protesting against the Islamic Republic hours after the Iranian government admitted shooting down a Ukrainian jetliner killing over 100 people.

The Videos which were sent to the New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran show a crowd of demonstrators near Azadi, or Freedom Square in Tehran on Sunday night fleeing as a tear gas canister landed among them.

Then People can be seen coughing trying to escape the fumes, with one woman calling out in Farsi: “They fired tear gas at people! Azadi Square. Death to the dictator!”

Another woman could be seen with blood gushing down her leg, suggesting she was shot live ammunition by security forces in Iran.

Quote:

Iranian state-run media on Monday refused to report on the incident and the government has denied using live ammunition on protesters.

“After successive national traumas in a short time period, people should be allowed to safely grieve and demand accountability,” said Hadi Ghaemi, the executive director of the New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran.

“Iranians shouldn’t have to risk their lives to exercise their constitutional right to peaceful assembly.”

The crash of the Ukraine Airline early on Wednesday killed all 176 people on board, mostly Iranians and Iranian-Canadians but the Iranian government denied shooting it down claiming it was a technical failure.

After insisting for three days that the Iranian armed forces were not to blame, authorities on Saturday admitted accidentally shooting it down in the face of possible American military retaliation after firing ballistic missiles at two bases in Iraq housing US forces..

Taraneh Alidoosti, one of Iran's most-famous actresses, posted a picture of a black square on Instagram with the caption: “We are not citizens. We are hostages. Millions of hostages.”

Saeed Maroof, the captain of Iran’s national volleyball team, also wrote on Instagram: “I wish I could be hopeful that this was the last scene of the show of deceit and lack of wisdom of these incompetents but I still know it is not.”

“They shot sporadically, came to our house and carried my sister, dragging her on the floor and kicking her. I held the Policeman asking him to let my sister go. But the Policeman (DPO) stripped me naked. He pulled the wrapper from my neck, dragged me on the floor and kicked my buttocks.
“They bundled my sister and I into their patrol van and took us to the Police Station. I never knew it was the DPO at first. He asked if we were the people causing ‘wahala’? So I asked my mother to join us in the cell. That was when he slapped me until I fell on the ground and fainted
“The Policewoman at the counter sprayed teargas into my eyes. I thought I was already blind. At night, he (DPO) and some men came and rained abuses on me."

National Chairman of Human Rights Defenders Organization, Sir. Casely Omon-Irabor (Esq.) confirmed that they've been contacted over the incident which occurred on Friday January 10.

He said;

Quote:“We sent two of our lawyers to go and find out and we discovered that the Police stripped the first daughter of the widow naked. Our lawyers tried to intervene but they didn’t listen to him.
"It was when I told him that I have him on photographs and video that he pushed for settlement."

Ibok who denied the incident, claimed he was not around when it occurred. Also commenting on the incident, Delta State Commissioner of Police Mr. Hafiz Inuwa insisted that the allegation was a big lie.

He said;

Quote:“As I am speaking with you, this is the second time a journalist is calling me. He wanted to reach me because of what one human rights person alleged.
“But when he could not get me, he just made his enquiry and discovered that it is not even true because the DPO even told him that he was not there at the station when the matter was reported.
“Some of these things, what you need to do is that you first contact the person that the allegation was made against. As I am talking to you now, we did not record anything like this."

Shock in Uganda as Imam discovers his newlywed wife is a man who disguised as a woman (photos)

Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba, the Imam of Kyampisi Masigid Noor mosque in Kayunga Sub-County, Kayunga District, a fortnight ago, exchanged marriage vows in Islamic culture (Nikah) with his ‘wife’ Ms Swabullah Nabukeera.

According to Daily Monitor, the couple who did not have sexual intercourse before marriage also spent two weeks of their marriage, without enjoying conjugal rights as the “bride” claimed she was menstruating.

Sheikh Mutumba said after his wife claimed to menstruating, he became patient and waited for her to get better.

Nabukeera’s luck ran out after Mutumba’s neighbour claimed that his newly wedded wife had jumped over a wall and stole their television set and clothes.

The neighbor reported the case at Kayunga Police Station before detectives were dispatched to arrest Ms Nabukeera.

Kayunga District criminal investigations officer, Mr Isaac Mugera said when Ms Nabukeera reached the police station she was wearing a hijab and sandals.
“As the police’s normal practice, a female police officer, searched the suspect thoroughly before taking ‘her’ to the cells. However, to the shock of the officer, the suspect had stacked clothes in the bra to hoodwink that they were breasts,” Mr Mugera said.
“On further search, we discovered that the suspect had male genitals. We quickly informed ‘her’ husband who had escorted her to the police station,” he said.

The news shocked Sheikh Mutumba who asked the police to let him prove for himself by allowing him to see the private parts of his ‘wife’.

On discovering that he was a fellow man, Mutumba made an alarm accusing Nabukeera of being a thief.

Mr Mugera said they later interrogated Ms Nabukeera, who revealed his real name as Richard Tumushabe, 27.

Mr Mugera added that Tumushabe told police that hehad  pretended to be a woman in order to get Mutumba's money.
“We have already charged him with impersonation, theft and obtaining goods by false pretence,” the CID boss said.

Narrating how he fell in love with the suspect, Mutumba said he found Tumushabe at Kyampisi mosque where he had gone for prayers.
“I was looking for a woman to marry and when I landed on a beautiful girl wearing a hijab, I asked her for love and she accepted. We fell in love, however, she told me we could not have sex until I take dowry to her parents and also exchange marriage vows,” a visibly shocked Mutumba narrated.

He explained that within, a week he finalized everything and visited his Nabukeera’s aunt, Ms Nuuru Nabukeera, a resident of Kituula Village in Seeta-Namuganga Sub-county.

Tumushabe’s alleged aunt, who has also been arrested by police said Mr Mutumba paid dowry which included two goats, two bags of sugar, three busuutis, a carton of salt and a Koran.

Ms Nuuru Nabukeera told police that she did not know that her ‘niece’ was male as she got to know him when he was already an adult.
“The first day he came to me he was wearing a hijab. I even slept with him in my bedroom. When she told me she had got a man for marriage, I gave her a go ahead and asked her to bring him to my home,” she said.

The police, however, said they were looking for pictures of their wedding ceremony which would further pin the suspect.
“The case file has been sent to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and we are waiting for legal advice before we take him to court,” Mr Mugera said.

The incident has left residents and family members of Mutumba shocked.
“Youth should find better means to earn a living instead of engaging in such stupid acts,” Mr Mugera advised.

U know dat saying dat "A lady appreciates her mother more wn she starts having her own babies" ....Very True. They jointly took care of my babies while we were away .when Koby n Kaira came to see me at d hospital, i was super happy, dey added so much weight. They looked well taken care of.But i wondered how my mother n kid sis were coping cos Koby n Kaira would still wake every 3hrs to feed evn at night.Well, to cut d long story short, my sis managed to stop dat How? Dat's a story for another day.
I Had my Quadruplet at 32wks n dat was d beginning of another journey. This past few months hasn't bn an easy 1 .The 4 of dem cn decide to run temperature at 1c (especially after immunization) making me to to have up to 30mins sleep all 2ru d night. At a time i asked myself if Immunization was really necessary .Dat shit makes dem sick like crazy.Everything with dem has been a struggle. They all want equal attention, dey want to b fed at d same time, evn dese pictures eh, i planned using 3 diff outfits for dis photoshoot buh see me nah....we ended up with 1, with a lot of begging o! [Image: 5e1c4cdb0afb7.jpg]

A parent has narrated how female students of a school were suspended for forming a Marlian cult.

According to reports, a student was caught with her underwear in her school bag. Upon investigation, it was discovered that she wasn't wearing any underwear, even though she left home wearing pants. When asked, she confessed to being a member of a Marlian cult in school.

She further revealed that part of their cult's rules is to go pantless on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

After being punished, the student named other students who belong to the cult and they were all suspended. One of those suspended is the daughter of a deaconess and an elder in church.

Quote:President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the 2019 finance bill into law in Abuja on Monday.

The bill was submitted to the National Assembly alongside the budget but the bill signing is coming 27 days after the 2020 budget was signed into law on December 17.

“I am pleased to announce that this morning I signed into law the Finance Bill, 2019,” a tweet on the President’s Twitter account read.

I also thought it would be worthy to mention that I used  Meditation in a Bottle Review  this herb in tea form as well as pill form, not sure which was better but again try them both and see. In conclusion, St Johns Wort gets two thumbs up from me when used for mild to moderate depression as well as mild to moderate anxiety, but of course always used as an effective sidekick as you tackle the root of your problem.

There are many people who see homosexuality as a sin; but the question they never ask is, Why does it exist? There is a body of thought that says that homosexuality has evolved for a reason, and that reason is this: Humanity needs people who won't be having children in order that they focus all their energies on benefiting the species or the tribe.

These questions are also not asked enough in matters of, say, schizophrenia and bipolar. Why do these things exist? I have an explanation why they exist. Just as the species needs people who won't be having children, so it also needs people who think differently from others around them so that they can innovate and so that they see the things that others around them do not see. Just as with homosexuality, which has for much of history been seen as a sin, these things, that are typically seen as mental illness, have survived for as long as they have survived because there is a need for them. And while people who have such adaptations can be disadvantaged in some pursuits, they become highly useful in others.

What's more, the body discharges a hormone called cortisol when focused on which builds hunger. Attempt to go through 30 minutes per day in a tranquil spot with simply your musings, or on the off chance that you choose to go for a run, make an effort not to tune in to music and simply unwind. Getting in shape isn't simple. Numerous individuals battle to do it yet it tends to be finished with the correct counsel.

Nigeria Moves Against Illegal Chinese Miners, Others
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 01-13-2020, 10:11 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Nigerian government has commenced moves to stop the illegal activities of Chinese and other artisanal miners across the country.

A senior official of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Fran Odoom, made this known to PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview. The official said that illegal mining activities ”are killing Nigeria’s economy and environment.”

Mr Odoom, the Director of Department of Mines Inspectorate, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, said the government has set up a special mining surveillance team for the purpose.

“The government has set up a special mining surveillance team that go into the forest in different states to monitor those who are behind illegal mining activities. They started fully this year to see how best they can stop activities.

“The surveillance team consists of EFCC, Immigration officers, Customs and all other members of security parastatals. We must rescue this country because illegal mining is killing us.”

He also told our correspondent that the ministry is aware that some police officers compromise. But with “our special team who are already across all states, we will curb the economic crime.”

The ministry’s action comes weeks after two reports by PREMIUM TIMES exposed illegal mining activities in Osun and Ondo states.

Mr Odoom admitted that the reports influenced the actions of the ministry.

While one of the reports revealed how artisanal illegal mining activities from Osun to Ondo undermine Nigeria’s economy, the other report exposed how a large number of illegal miners pursued from Zamfara now carry out their unauthorised business in Osun.

Nigerians on social media, while reacting to the report, charged the authorities to take appropriate steps to stop illegal gold mining in Osun State and other places.

Also, public health experts warned that if not properly tackled, illegal mining will lead to environmental and human health problems.

Mr Odoom also told our correspondent that efforts are in place to deal with illegal foreign miners in different states.

“We noticed your report also indicted the foreigners and we noticed that they were not conforming with our laws which is shameful,” the official said.

“The minister is trying to speak with the Chinese government to have a record of Chinese in Nigeria. It would be easier to get details through their embassy here. This allows us to know those who are milking our resources dry.

“We will check their papers and if we realise that they are not in places where they have to be, we send them away. But we don’t want the bad eggs to spoil the reputation of the good ones. The government will start checking the papers of these persons.”

Culpable traditional rulers

While reacting to a question on how the government plans to deal with monarchs supporting Illegal mining activities, he told PREMIUM TIMES that ”indicted kings and chiefs will face the law.”

“There are no two ways about it. The community leaders are also guilty and it is because they are not patriotic,” he said.

“This country belongs to all of us and it appears that the traditional rulers don’t understand that giving their blessing to people involved in illegal mining activities is a crime. It kills the nation.

“We have appealed to their conscience(s) on several occasions but if they continue to flout the rules, they will face the law. They will be adequately prosecuted and jailed if found guilty of misconduct.”

Olamide Babayemi: Cobbler Rapes Corper, Shares Nude Video With Friends
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

Quote:A 25-year-old cobbler, Olamide Babayemi, has been arrested for raping a 22-year-old Microbiology graduate and sharing the victim’s nude video with his friends.

Babayemi was alleged to have invited the victim, whom he claimed was his girlfriend, to come and collect the phone she asked him to buy in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect was reported to have soaked the victim’s clothes in water when she got to the agreed location and used his phone to record her nudeness before sending the video to some of his friends.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Sunday in a statement.

Oyeyemi said Babayemi was arrested by men of the command on January 4, 2020, for the alleged crime.

The PPRO said the suspect also attempted to kill the victim after raping and filming her in a nude posture in order to cover up his crime.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report by the victim at the Redemption Camp Police Station in Mowe.

The PPRO stated, “The victim came to the Redemption Camp Police Station and reported that she gave the sum of N18,000 to the cobbler, whom she had known for quite some time, to buy a mobile telephone for her.

“She explained further that the cobbler, who refused to either buy the phone or refund her money, suddenly called her on January 2 to come to the Greenland Estate in Mowe to collect the phone.

“On getting there, the suspect forcefully removed all her clothes and raped her.

“The victim stated further that after he had forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, the suspect soaked her clothes in water and used his phone to record her nudeness, which he started sending to some of his friends.

“When he realised that the victim might report him to the police, he made an attempt to snuff life out of her, but she was lucky when the suspect’s mother called him on the phone to come and meet her at the gate of the estate, which gave her the opportunity to escape.

“On the strength of the report, the DPO, Redemption Camp Police Station, CSP Chris Amanyi, mobilised detectives to go after the suspect, who had taken to his heels, and he was eventually apprehended on January 4, 2020, when his mother brought him to the station.

“On interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to be the victim’s boyfriend, confessed that he committed the crime, but blamed the girl for calling it quits with him after she graduated from the university.

“When asked for the reasons behind recording the nude video of the victim, he said he did so to prevent her from reporting him to the police.”

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Tinnitus Miracle Review - Must Read Before You Buy Tinnitus Miracle!

The bottom line is, if you ever experience vertigo,   Hearing X3 Review  dizziness, and a feeling of fullness in your inner ear on one side or the other, you should have it checked out right away. Most times it will be something easy to resolve, such as an infection or foreign matter in the ear. But since diagnosing vestibular neuritis is so difficult, be aware that further steps may be necessary to get to the truth of your inner ear problems. Don't give up, find a doctor that is willing to find the true diagnosis no matter what.

After many false hopes and starts, patients can look forward to a pioneering tinnitus treatment program in the UK. It has taken 2 decades to reach this point. Therefore our skepticism is understandable. The new program surrounds the results that were reported by Peter Humphries. He is a retired manual worker who experienced a significant reduction in his symptoms after 10 days of working with the Acoustic CR Neuromodulation method. This is a patented program that is available from the Tinnitus Clinic, an audiology center in Harley Street within the central business district.

Targeting the brain: This program works by concentrating on the auditory center of the brain. In effect the patient is able to reduce their tonal responses to stimuli. The relief which is experienced is both real and sustainable. That means that the patient will not suffer from debilitating side effects. There is some neuro-scientific evidence to support the framework which is being promoted by this method.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY 13TH JANUARY.

SET YOUR MIND ON SPIRITUAL THINGS.

Set your AFFECTION on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2).

Even though “affection” is quite a good and strong rendering in the verse above, the Greek word, “phroneo” is a little more practical. It means to set your mind or your thinking; an activity of the mind; how your mind works. It originates from two words; one meaning, “To reign in,” like you say, “I’ve got to reign this fellow in”; that is, to bring him under control. The second word means, “To block in or fence in.”

Thus, the admonition to set your affection on things above means to have control on your mind and consciously set your thinking on spiritual things. Remember that the things you think about are the things that will control your actions.

For example, you may have been wrestling with certain habits; habits that affect the way you serve and live for the Lord; habits that reduce your effectiveness and efficiency. You might have prayed about it, yet, nothing seemed to have changed. It’s not so much about prayer as it’s about the use of your mind! Your mind is a very powerful machine; you can twist or control it any way you choose. So, what you must do is to first, consciously refuse to think on those things you know aren’t wholesome, and deliberately focus your mind on the Word.

Practise exercising your mind through conscious thought. If, for whatever reason, an unwholesome thought comes to you, say, “No,” and then, switch your mind to something excellent; to the Word. Don’t be surprised if such thoughts creep in again; resist it and repeat the process. James 4:7 says “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” God knows what’s in the devil, and He tells us if we resist him, he’ll flee; that’s got to be the necessary result!

Exercise your mind to develop a liking for spiritual things; exercise your interests in the things of God. Attend church services. Study and meditate on the Word. Maintain a robust prayer schedule. Win souls. These are spiritual activities to consciously engage in, in training yourself to “reign-in” your outward man! Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I consciously exercise my mind to focus on the spiritual realities of the Word, and project myself to greater levels of success, prosperity and victory. By the power of the Spirit, I cast off worthless and unproductive thoughts, and use my mind correctly to picture the glorious and victorious life that I have in Christ. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

13TH JANUARY.

I affirm that this is my year of perfection! My spirit is receptive to the Word, and I know that my tomorrow is greater than my today because the path of the just is as a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.

My mind is anointed to dwell on excellent thoughts and I have an inward guide. I am always inspired by the Word, to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.

The Word of God is building my faith strong and exposing me to the realities of the Kingdom. My faith will never fail nor stand on the wisdom of men but on the Word of God.

I choose to walk by faith and not by sensory perceptions! With my spirit, I take a hold of my inheritance in Christ, walking in divine health, prosperity, favour, and victory.

My life only goes in the upward and forward direction because the Father has chosen and ordained me to be productive in all aspects of my life! My mind is anointed for excellence and supernatural accomplishment! The eyes of my spirit are enlightened to see the right opportunities and I am well positioned to eat of the good of the land.

I know what to do; I know when to do what to do; and I know how to do what to do, through the guidance and light that I have received from the Holy Spirit and the Word.

I make progress; win every day by the power of the Spirit which is at work in me mightily. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

For example, lack of serotonin-1A receptor shows increased  Brain C-13 Review  depression and anxiety related behaviour but normal behaviour is restored if the receptor is genetically or pharmacologically. However, in recent years other candidate genes have appeared to be connected with depression in humans. In recent years compounds or agonists (designed to selectively interact with the serotonin-1A receptor in the brain) that target this receptor have been approved for anxiety and major depression.

Depression like behaviors is seen in organisms artificially manipulated by either environmental stress or through genetic/pharmacological factors. Therefore these carefully and ethically constructed scientific studies including volumetric brain imaging techniques and genetics; coupled with screening programmes will allow us to understand the complex correlation of nature and nurture in the development of mood disorders. As depression costs the health service a huge amount of money there is still a great need to understand the disease and identify the "risk gene" of depression. Its about time researchers discovered a genetic test for depression. In the meantime, the best way to keep away from stress and depression is to keep physically healthy.

Trying to find info on improving memory can be seem challenging, but the steps are actually quite simple. There are some easy and natural ways to empower your brain. If you are willing to set aside a little time and perhaps make a few adjustments in your life then you can implement these steps to boost your brain.

El-Rufai: I Will Not Release El-Zakzaky So Long I’m Governor

So long as I’m Kaduna governor, no amount of pressure will make me release El-Zakzaky

Quote:The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, says he would not bow to pressure to release Shi’ite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

The governor spoke on Friday night in a live radio interview monitored by DAILY NIGERIAN in Abuja.
Mr El-Rufai said the state government went tough on the Shi’ite leader because the people of Kaduna state suffered under Mr El-Zakzaky’s excesses.

“We agree [his fate is in our hands] but with a correction. The fate of El-Zakzaky is not in the hands of Kaduna State Government but the Kaduna State High Court. What the federal government means here is that it did not charge El-Zakzaky to court. The federal government detained him in Abuja after the [Zaria] crisis.

“While El-Zakzaky was in detention in Abuja, we sat down and conducted investigations on the atrocities, crimes, infringement of rights he and his followers committed in the last 30 years in Zaria.

“After the conclusion of the investigation, we requested the federal government to hand him over to us for trial in Kaduna.

“The clamour for the release of El-Zakzaky was not directed at us but the federal government. Since we took him to court nobody asked us to release him.

“And we will not release him until court he is cleared by the court. It was Kaduna State High Court that ordered for his detention in the Kaduna prison.

“He was the one who requested that he be detained by the SSS not prison. If a person is awaiting trial, he is normally remanded in prison custody. But he opted for the SSS detention facility where he will not suffer.

“Since the SSS is detaining him without the order of the court, our lawyers sought order from the court for El-Zakzaky to be taken back to prison.

“As we speak now, Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife are in Kaduna prison, and they will remain there till the end of their trial.

“We don’t know when the court will decide, but we will not release him because of the atrocities he and his followers committed against the people of Kaduna State.

“If the court acquits him, we have no option. But we will not release him no matter the public outcry, no matter the demonstration, no matter the pressure from foreign countries… They are just wasting their time. As long as I am the governor, El-Zakzaky will never be released until the end of his trial. But whatever the court decides, I will execute the judgement.”

Investigate Obaseki government over money laundering, group tells EFCC, ICPC
January 12, 2020

The Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Commission (ICPC) to immediately commence a comprehensive probe the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo over allegations of money laundering.

The coalition said the investigation has became necessary in view of the reported arrest of serving Commissioner in the state, Osaze Osemwingie-Ero, by Interpol in France while allegedly in the possession of $2million.

But the Edo state government has since said that the arrest of the Commissioner has nothing to do with money laundering, but about his past as an alleged cultist.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja on Sunday, Country Director of the organisation, John Mayaki also called for a public inquiry into the reported charges of money laundering while accusing Governor Obaseki for damaging public trust.

Mayaki, who is also a former Spokesman to Governor Obaseki said the EFCC should immediately launch an investigation into the perceived organized crime of money laundering, while also expanding its scope to the several Memorandum of Understanding [MOUs] announced by the Obaseki-administration involving millions of dollars but without any physical manifestation or reported progress.

Mayaki said, “It’s safe to say here that the public trust has been badly damaged by these allegations of money laundering in Europe”, the statement read.

“The EFCC has to immediately intervene to save the country and the administration of President Muhammad Buhari from looming international embarrassment since major national newspapers already reported the discovery of the dirty money allegedly amounting to $2m.

“The poor response from the Edo state government over this humongous scandal and the attempt to conceal the dirty money while also denying the victim (Mr. Osaze Osewingie Ero), is an indication that Governor Godwin Obaseki has inadvertently owned up to the crime and must be brought to book.”

He said the public condemnation trailing the arrest and criminal discovery both home and abroad reiterates that Nigerians detest corruption and government mismanagement of public funds and it is, therefore, the EFCC’s obligation to bring under scrutiny the financial records and dealings of the Edo State government, particularly as it concerns the spurious singings of MOUs and other arranged partnership with some foreign bodies where only sums are supposedly paid but without transparency or implementation.

“Godwin Obaseki has faced several allegations of widespread cases of maladministration in his three-year stay in office as the Governor of Edo State.

For months, the governor has refused requests from journalists to make public the spendings of the government under his watch, particularly contract awarding process and figures, following reports that his friends and cronies are favored in a contract arrangement involving inflation of costs and poor quality delivery, Mayaki said.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has urged its governorship aspirants to begin to brace up to the challenges of inheriting empty treasury after the party might have won the forthcoming elections.

It said Governor Obaseki has emptied the treasury through indebtedness.

State Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih dared Governor Obaseki to declare the state of indebtendness the people of Edo

Chief Orbih who spoke at Fugar in Etsako Central Local government as part of continuation of the PDP sensitisation rally of its members ahead of the party primaries said Edo is the second most indebted state in Nigeria.

Orbih told the party governorship aspirants to prepare for hard times at government house because they are going to inherit empty treasury.

He said the party has talented and well qualified aspirants.

The Edo PDP chairman said the internal rumblings in the Edo APC was robbing the people the dividends of democracy.

“I want to challenge Governor Godwin Obaseki to disclose the state of indebtendness to the people of the state. Indebtendness at the time he took over power and as at today but somebody whispered to me that he has record to show that as at today Edo is the second most indebted state in Nigeria today.

“That is why am calling on all our governorship aspirants to be prepared for hard times because they are going to inherit an empty treasury. We must show that we have all it takes to turn around the economy of our state and we know with all the aspirants that we have the best is yet to come.

“The present governorship aspirants in the PDP are a crop of young men who have what it takes to rule this state.

But I want to use this occasion to send a very strong message to our governorship aspirants that as they prepare for the governorship primaries, they must put at the back of their minds that by the time PDP is back to government they are going to face a very serious problem because they are going to inherit an empty treasury.

“The APC instead of giving us good governance they are busy fighting and killing themselves. In this local government if you find any gathering like this, another faction will come to drive them away. We don’t need this kind of situation in our state and the only solution to put an end to this political peculiar mess is to vote PDP back to government.”

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie could not be reached for comments as at press time.

Customs Generates N1.3tr In 2019, Exceeds Target By N404bn

Quote:The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it generated N1.341 trillion as revenue for the year 2019, exceeding the target of N937 billion by N404bn revenue.

The 2019 revenue generation milestone also exceeded the N1.202tr generated in 2018 by N139.2bn, Customs said in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah.

Commenting on the feat, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col, Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), described it as a result of resolute pursuit of what is right rather than being populist by compromising national interest on the altar of individual or group interests.

He said the service revenue generation profile had continued to be on the rise annually as the ongoing reforms in the Service insists on strategic policies.

Ali said those policies includes the strategic deployment of officers strictly using the standard operating procedure, strict enforcement of extant guidelines by the tariff and trade department, and the automation of the Customs process thereby, eliminating vices associated with the manual process.

Two U.S. service members were killed and two others injured when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan Saturday, the U.S. military said in a statement.

The troops died after their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Kandahar province. The service members were conducting operations as part of NATO’s Resolute Support mission, officials said in a press release.

Their names and other biographical information will be released 24 hours after the notification of next of kin is completed, officials added.

Qari Yusouf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, has claimed responsibility for the attack in the southern Kandahar province. He said that the bomb occurred close to Kandahar airfield in the morning.

This comes after U.S. Ambassador John Bass left Kabul last week, ending his two-year tenure as America´s top diplomat, with over 3,000 US troops recently deployed to the Middle East as tensions rise in the region following the US killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, who died in a U.S. airstrike ordered by President Donald Trump.

Calabar - Itu Road: Senator Ita Enang has Indicted President Buhari - Group

A socio-political organization based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement, AILM, says the Senior Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta, Senator Ita Enang, by calling on the presidency to compel Governor Emmanuel to construct Calabar Itu high has questioned President Mohammedu Buhari's true intention on the road.

The group reasoned that this is an indictment of the president and calls to question all efforts made by federal government on the dilapidated federal road just before the 2019 elections.
Speaking in Uyo, the group’s Secretary-General, Solomon Abasiekong Esq., said Senator Enang, having given himself to frivolities as seen in his letter, has made people question Buhari’s sincerity in constructing Calabar - Itu road.

“We are forced to ask what Ita Enang has turned himself to. Enang’s recent demand for Governor Emmanuel's assistance in the construction of Calabar Itu road is an indirect indictment on the so called integrity of President Mohammedu. It shows that either the President was lying to the people of Akwa Ibom State or was using the road to curry support for his reelection.

“Does it mean Ita Enang was not given briefs for his new office as Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs? Everyone had expected Enang to get so busy in his new office instead of delving into frivolities. It is either Enang doesn’t know what to or does not have what to do.
“Ita Enang must realize that elections are over, as such he should be tired of spewing lies. He should see how to press forward the needs of Niger Deltans to the presidency.

“Akwa Ibom people are satisfied with the transparent nature of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration, as such, we have no question for whatever he uses Akwa Ibom money to do because he has the people’s interest at heart", the statement read in parts.

PRESS BRIEFING BY AKWA IBOM STATE LIBERATION MOVEMENT

Motto: Together we shall liberate Akwa Abasi Ibom State

ITA ENANG AND HIS INCONGRUOUS 'BUSY BODY' LETTER

Few days ago, Akwa Ibom people woke up to read an absurd letter authored by the Senior Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, advising the presidency to stop Governor Udom Emmanuel from going further to extend the airport road to 8 lanes.

As a shown in the letter, Senator Enang's reasoning has deteroriated to into bizarre logic, which could immediately be seen as he struggles to suggest to the Federal Government to compel Governor Emmanuel to inject such fund into constructing Calabar Itu high way.

Ita Enang knows that the Calabar - Itu Road project is among many lies that will continue to haunt him and his governorship aspiration as such he is seeking whatever means to get it done. It can be recalled that Enang, in October 2019, while fielding questions from Journalists in Uyo, urged the people to remain calm, assuring that the contractor, Julius Berger, would soon return to site after the rains.

He disclosed that the federal government had awarded the contract for the construction of the road since 2017, however, only N3 billion was released in 2018 budget.

He explained that the total span of the road from Odukpani Junction in Cross River to Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom was about 22 kilometres with a cost of about N51 billion.

“We have taken steps to ensure Julius Berger returns to site. In 2019 budget, we secured N3.9 billion but much has not been released to the contractor.”

We are forced to ask what Ita Enang has turned himself to. Enang’s recent demand for Governor Emmanuel's assistance in the construction of Calabar Itu road is an indirect indictment on the integrity of President Mohammedu. It shows that either the President was lying to the people of Akwa Ibom State or was using the road to curry support for his reelection.

Does it mean Ita Enang was not given briefs for his new office as Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs? Everyone had expected Enang to get so busy in his new office instead of delving into frivolities. It is either Enang doesn’t know what to or does not have what to do.

Ita Enang must realize that elections are over, as such he should be tired of spewing lies. He should see how to press forward the needs of Niger Deltans to the presidency.

Akwa Ibom people are satisfied with the transparent nature of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration, as such, we have no question for whatever he uses Akwa Ibom money to do because he has the people’s interest at heart.
Enang should not behave like his name implies, he should think before he acts.

Signed:

Solomon Abasiekong Esq.,

US Sec. Of State Mike Pompeo refuses Iraqi Prime Minister's request for US troop withdrawal from Iraq

Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State has rejected the Iraqi Prime Minister's request to begin plans to remove US military troops from Iraq following the US drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani on US soil.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi made the request in a telephone call with Mike Pompeo on Thursday night, Abdul's office said in a statement.

According to the statement, he also told Pompeo that U.S. strikes in Iraq were an unacceptable breach of Iraqi sovereignty and a violation of the security agreements between both nations.

The Prime Minister in the call, asked Pompeo to 'send delegates to Iraq to prepare a mechanism to carry out the parliament´s resolution regarding the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq,'

Trump has threatened to place economic sanctions on Iraq if the US troops are forced to leave Iraq, saying billions of dollars have been spent in protecting the region.

The Iraqi parliament early this week passed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq while Iran has called for the removal of US troops in the Middle East region following the killing of Soleimani by the US last week Friday.

But Trump believes the absence of US troops in the middle East will only embolden Iran in it's destabilizing effects around the region while also increase the risk of ISIS resurgence in the region.
'The prime minister said American forces had entered Iraq and drones are flying in its airspace without permission from Iraqi authorities and this was a violation of the bilateral agreements,' the statement added.

Even though the prime minister stopped short of asking for immediate troops removal, he suggested that the US should draw a framework to begin graduated removal of troops.

US State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said Pompeo reiterated the United States' condemnation of the Iranian missile strikes on the two bases and underscored that President Donald Trump 'has said the United States will do whatever it takes to protect the American and Iraqi people and defend our collective interests.'

When they realize hating is not working, they start telling lies - Dakore Egbuson-Akande says as she debunks marriage crash

Dakore Egbuson-Akande has debunked claims of the crash of her marriage to Olumide Akande.

Speculation of the marriage crash came after Dakore shared a bikini photo at the One African Music Fest in Dubai with her brother, Timini. It was reported that the couple's marriage crashed on grounds of the billionaire son not having enough money to throw around like when they met, courted and were newly married. The report also claimed that Dakore was also said to be under pressure to give birth to a son in her 10-year-old marriage which has produced two daughters.

The actress who however debunked claims of her marriage crash as she celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband Olumide, stated that when people realize hating is not working, they start telling lies.

Sharing a video of her daughters goofing around, Dakore wrote;

Farooq Kperogi-What is the point of asset declaration if it isn’t public

If Asset Declaration Isn’t Public, What’s Its Point?

By Farooq A. Kperogi, Ph.D.

Twitter: @farooqkperogi

In response to the request by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) that all elected public officials publicly declare their assets, presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said on January 7, “The president will do what the law requires of him and I can say for a fact that the president has declared his assets. Declaring that publicly is not in our law but voluntary. Therefore, he cannot be compelled to do so."

Adesina’s reaction conveniently ignored the fact that it was Buhari who voluntarily said he would publicly declare his assets—like the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua did without prompting from anyone in 2015.

The Punch of February 20, 2015 reported Buhari to have said: “I pledge to PUBLICLY declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment.”

This was the first promise Buhari broke upon his ascension to the presidency. In the early days of the regime, when I still cherished the illusion that his incipient drift was salvageable, I frantically reached out to people in the presidency with whom I had a personal relationship and begged them to prevail upon Buhari to make good his campaign promise.

When they weren’t forthcoming, I wrote a column on June 13, 2015 titled “Mishandling of Asset Declaration May Doom Buhari’s Presidency.” I republished it weeks later.

The very first paragraph of the column, which seems pretty prescient in retrospect, read: “Although many of us still nourish the hope that Pres.Buhari’s administration will represent a substantive departure from the blight of the past,Buhari has so far done little to inspire the confidence that he will live up to the hopes we have invested in him.

Perhaps the biggest germinal error he has made, which might haunt his administration, is his seeming reluctance to publicly declare his assets, contrary to the promise he made during his campaigns.”

I added: "The social and cultural basis of Buhari’s legitimacy and popularity revolve around the notion of his transparency and incorruptibility. But the secretiveness, disingenuousness and overall informational poverty of the handling of the asset declaration issue is eroding Buhari’s very credibility and giving people cause for what psychologists call post-decision cognitive dissonance. If this issue is not handled artfully and transparently, it will set the tone for his entire presidency."

After the column was published a second time, one close aide of Buhari’s told me in confidence that Buhari would NEVER publicly declare his assets because it would demystify him. I asked why and he said it was because the man was very wealthy and that his base in the North and his supporters down South would feel betrayed if they knew how much he was actually worth.

He said Buhari declared close to a billion naira in his asset declaration form and had choice property all over the country worth billions of naira. What was worse, he said, Buhari didn’t even officially declare everything. That was when it dawned on me that Buhari was a deodorized and carefully packaged scammer.

He was also the sole signatory to the donations that everyday Nigerians made to his campaign through scratch cards between 2014 and 2015. The money was never used for the presidential campaign, and it has not been accounted for up to now. (An old woman in Kebbi State donated her entire life saving of N1 million that she got from selling kosai (bean cake) and died in penury a year later.)

In December 2014, Buhari had said, “I have at least one million naira in my bank, having paid N5.5 million to pick my form from my party APC. I have around 150 cattle because I am never comfortable without cows. I have a house each in Kaduna, Kano, and Daura which I borrowed money to build. I never had a foreign account since I finished my courses in the USA, India and the UK. I never owned any property outside Nigeria. Never.”

They say a liar must have a good memory. But Buhari is a bad liar. After so much pressure from many of us, then the Buhari’s strategists came up with a plan to deceive Nigerians and deflect attention from Buhari’s asset declaration fraud. His spokesman was told to issue an intentionally vague and incomplete “public asset declaration” that would leave room for plausible deniability in case he is caught.

That was why there were no specifics other than unhelpfully broad claims that the president had a house in Abuja (which he didn’t acknowledge during the campaigns), Kano, Kaduna, Daura, and Port Harcourt; some cattle and livestock; “not less than 30 million naira” (how more deceptively vague can you get than that?)

Recall that a few months earlier, he said he had “at least one million naira” left in his account. He went from “at least one million” to “no less than 30 million” in less than a year!). The “declaration” also said he had “a number of cars” (we weren’t told how many); and so on. Compare Buhari’s "public asset declaration" with the late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua's or Governor Seyi Makinde’s more transparent, public declaration and the face of Buhari’s fraud will become even more starkly apparent.

Quote:Many Nigerians weren’t deceived by the fraud, though. They asked that he make public a copy of his declaration like Yar’adua & later Makinde) who didn’t even campaign to publicly declare their assets did. In response, the president’s spokesperson said, “As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves.”

It’s been more than three years,& the asset declarat ation form still hasn’t been released to the public. To make matters worse, Adesina now says Buhari won’t declare his assets publicly because the law doesn’t require him to do so. Well, we’ve always known that. Even perpetually “unaware” Buhari knew that when he promised he would publicly declare his assets.

This double-dyed fraud becomes even more infuriating when you remember what Buhari says when he' asked to publicly show his asset declaration form as he promised he would. For instance, during the one and only media chat he did as “president,” he challenged journalists to use their skills in “investigative journalism” to find the form.

Well, I used my “investigative journalism” skills to find the form and discovered that there is no paper trail of his asset declaration form at the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Other journalists invoked the Freedom of Information Act and requested the CCB to release Buhari’s asset declaration form to them. On September 21, 2016, Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman Sam Saba said the Bureau couldn’t release Buhari’s asset declaration form because the law that set up the bureau forbids him from making the forms public without Buhari’s consent.

So why did Buhari ask journalists to deploy “investigative journalism” skills to find his form even when he knew only he has access to it? On his own volition,he promised to publicize his asset declaration form. Then he took it away from the only place it’s legally supposed to be, and then he turned around to challenge journalists to use their investigative skills to find it. Did he want reporters to invade his home, hold him at gunpoint, and force him to produce it?

So, get this: Buhari is the ONLY elected public official whose asset declaration form does not exist at the Code of Conduct of Bureau. Of course, it’s because he wants to hide his fraud and intentional lies from public scrutiny.

Quote:The Bureau also declined requests to release the asset declaration forms of other higher-ups in the Buhari regime. Now, how did Dennis Aghanya, Buhari’s former media aide and current SA on justice, get access to former CJN Walter Onnoghen’s asset declaration form when the law forbids the public disclosure of public officials’ asset declaration forms without their consent?

Why was Onnoghen isolated for punishment for an offense that everyone, including the people meting out the punishment, is guilty of?

What is the point of asset declaration if it isn’t public, if it can’t be used to determine if public officials have corruptly enriched themselves? Why is Buhari in dread of publicly declaring his assets even when he proclaims to embody “integrity”?

2023: I will not impose anybody on Rivers State – Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has revealed that he will not work towards imposing any Governor on Rivers people at the expiration of his second term in 2023.

Speaking during a solidarity visit by the Orashi Region of Rivers State at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday, January 11th, Wike said power could never be extended as a gift to any group.

Quote:He said: “For the position of Governorship, if you have the capacity, come out and contest. Nobody zoned Governorship to me, I struggled for it.
“I will not impose anybody on Rivers people as Governor in 2023. I will not do it. I don’t even have that power, not to talk of giving it out. You cannot give what you don’t have. To be Governor of Rivers State, you must have the capacity to deliver.”
Wike warned against the politics of bitterness, which he said has denied several Rivers communities access to developmental projects. He said: “don’t allow anyone to sow seeds of discords among you. Politics should not divide us. Politics of bitterness does not make sense. All of us must not be in one political party. But you must support yourselves to attract projects to your area.”

The Governor called on Orashi people to form a united front as they work for their people. He said: “We must be able to work as a people. We will not abandon any projects awarded by the State Government. You must work as a team to achieve results.”

Zamfara: Troops Kill 100 Bandits, Recover Several Items

Quote:At least 100 bandits have been killed by the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in Zamfara and parts of Katsina State between December 2019 and January 2020, the Acting Force Information Officer, Captain Ayobami Oni-Orisan, has said.

Oni-Orisan said in a statement to journalists in Gusau on Saturday that troops comprising personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services and others conducted several clearance operations to neutralise bandits who refused to repent.

“So far, OPHD troops have flushed out bandits hibernating around Tashar Kuturu, Dankalgo, Gobirawa junction, Bagega, Kawaye, Duhuwa, Sabon-Birni, Dankurmi, Dangulbi, Hayin Bawa, Zango, Unguwar Shanu, Tundu Mali, Magazu, Mayanchi and Gando forest, in Anka, Talata Mafara, Tsafe, Maru and Bukkuyum Local Government areas of Zamfara.

“Additionally, OPHD ground troops backed by the fighter jets of the Air Component also cleared Shinfida in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, neutralising several bandits in the process,” he said.

The information officer said the renewed use of force against the bandits followed their refusal to embrace the peace process introduced by Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara about six months ago as well as the recent upsurge of the bandits in the affected areas.

He said during the operations, 10 kidnap victims were rescued, while 500 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition 23 Motorbikes, 15 AK 47 rifles, four General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), one PKM Machine Gun, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, 11 fully loaded magazines, 600 rustled cows and 300 rustled sheep were recovered.

He further said that during the clearance operations, the troops in collaboration with the Defence Forces of Niger Republic apprehended a high profile gunrunner, popularly known as “Kunene” who was responsible for the inflow of arms, ammunition and other dangerous weapons into the region.

In addition, Oni-Orisan said, the troops also apprehended three suspected bandits; Abubakar Kiri Koloma, Abubakar Ibrahim and Haruna Alhaji Yaro, as well as two notorious drug dealers; Kabiru Abubakar Isah and Hamisu Dan-kwanba at various locations in Zamfara during the period.

He said all the suspects had been profiled and handed over to the relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

Bishop Oyedepo Announces Plans to Plant 10,000 Churches this Year.

*Now to spend extra N900 million ($2.5 million) on pastors monthly salaries above January 2019.
* To employ about 12,000 more staff.

Leke Beecroft

Bishop David Oyedepo has just announced the planting of 10,000 more churches this year adding to about 11,000 churches presently which will make 21,000 churches at the end of the year.
It will be recalled that the church planted her first 5 churches in 1987 and by 1994, she reached out to African nations. Church Gist.

In 2001, she reached out to other continents of the world and by December 2009, she had a total of about 700 churches.
The Church planted about 1,200 churches in 2010, 1,500 in 2011 and 2000 by 2012 respectively.

She announced about 5,600 churches excluding Lagos as at the end of 2014. Added to some 150 churches planted from 2015 to 2018 as well as 5,082 planted last year, the churches reached about 11,000.

Bishop David Oyedepo announced in December 2019 that Winners Chapel planted 5,082 churches and employed 6,000 full time pastors over these churches in 2019 with a consequent N300 million increase in the Church budget.Church Gist.

The emphasis this year is to double the number of branches worldwide with an extra monthly wage of at least N600 million. This therefore totals about N900 million increase in the salary of pastors over January 2019 and the employment and training of about 12,000 more members as pastors considering that the cost of doing so last year has not increased.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY 12TH JANUARY.

HIS INCORRUPTIBLE LIFE IN YOU

…Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body (2 Corinthians 4:10).

Through the Gospel, God has brought life and immortality to light (2 Timothy 1:10), and He wants that life to be manifested in our physical bodies. Think about that: His invincible life manifested in your physical body! This is what makes the Christian a superman.

Recall the experience of Paul on the island of Malta in Acts 28. He was bitten by a venomous viper, but he wasn’t hurt; he didn’t shout or try to cast out the poison. He didn’t even pray or quickly recite some confession. He simply continued what he was doing as though nothing happened. The onlookers were perplexed as they had expected Paul to swell and suddenly drop dead as a result of the venom. But when that didn’t happen, they concluded he was a god (Acts 28:6).

Paul knew he had the incorruptible life of Christ manifested in his physical body. That life came in the salvation package. Therefore, in your life, be fearless; you can’t be poisoned or killed, because of the divine life in you. You might ask, “What am I going to do to live this kind of life?” Just as you didn’t have to do anything to live the human life, you don’t have to “do something” to be what God has already made you.

The Bible says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…” (Titus 3:5). Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” The divine life in you came at no extra cost; if you have Jesus, you have it (1 John 5:11-12). What you need is the awareness, the consciousness of your identity in Him, and His incorruptible life in you. Glory to His Name forever!

CONFESSION

The supernatural, immortal and incorruptible life of Christ is at work in me; therefore, I live above sickness, disease and all the depravities that affect the human nature. I’m an associate of the God-kind, manifesting the glory and virtues of divinity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

12TH JANUARY.

KINDLY DAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Blessed Heavenly Father, I exalt and worship You for Your great love, grace, and power in my life! Thank You for bringing me into a life of peace and joy in the Holy Ghost! I thank You for your overflowing springs of joy that emanate from the innermost part of my being. Irrespective of the situations and circumstances,

I rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, knowing that all things work together for my good! Thank You for guiding me through Your Word, and the Holy Spirit, to know and walk in Your perfect will for me.

I am filled with Your wisdom to do excellently in all my endeavors. Christ has been made unto me wisdom and that wisdom causes me to walk in the will of God, and fulfill my destiny in Christ.

Bishop Oyedepo Sack Senior Church Officials over fraud in Church
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 01-11-2020, 11:04 PM - No Replies

Quote:MILLIONS of naira allegedly stolen by some highly placed officials of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, a.k.a. Winners Chapel, drew the presiding Bishop of the church, Dr. David Oyedepo, into a rage at the empowerment summit organised for ordained workers of the church last Saturday.

The annual event, which is usually attended by pastors, zonal ministers and their assistants, deacons, ushers and other ordained workers of the church, where they are acquainted with the church’s programme for the year, was presided over by Oyedepo, while his deputy, Bishop David Abioye, was also in attendance. Both men ministered powerfully. Oyedepo ministered on service, while Abioye spoke on consistency in service.

Towards the end of the programme, however, Oyedepo took some time to talk about the goings on in the church. He revealed how some very high up officials, mainly accountants, had looted the church’s treasury.

The Bishop could not hide his disappointment that professionals trusted by the church to prevent fraud turned themselves into a network of fraudsters.

Expressing his disappointment in the errant church officials, who have since been relieved of their positions in the church, he said: “Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God?

“We had no choice but to dismiss them. You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices.

“Even after we dismissed them, we discovered more fraud.

“Those who should discover the fraud were the ones involved in it. One of them refused to confess until the last minute.”

He admonished the church members against employing the dismissed officials. He said he had to tell everyone present because he knew the dismissed officials “will come to you for employment.”

“Don’t employ them and don’t sympathise with them. Whoever sympathises with the wicked is wicked himself.”

Dead silence fell on the gathering as the Bishop reiterated: “Don’t sympathise with any perpetrator of fraud, otherwise you are a partaker of the evil act.”

FG Warns Rev Father Kukah Not To Divide Nigeria
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:The Federal Government on Friday warned the Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese , Rev Fr Matthew Kukah, against indulging in “ actions that are capable of dividing the country along religious lines ” .

The regime , however , advised him to use his “ high ecclesiastical office to work for religious harmony in Nigeria” .

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the warning in a statement by his Special Assistant , Segun Adeyemi .

He was reacting to a statement credited to Kukah , in which he compared the Federal Government with Boko Haram .

The government said it was “ not only disingenuous , but also a great disservice to the men and women in uniform who are daily battling the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to keep all Nigerians safe ” .

According to Mohammed , the position of the retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari regime is that the terrorists do not subscribe to any religion , irrespective of their pretence.

He said they were being driven by “ their primitive propensity to kill mindlessly and destroy without restrain , irrespective of their victims’ creed, gender or tribe” .
He added, ‘’To now attribute the actions of these mad bunch to an orchestrated and systematic plan to elevate one religion over the other or decimate adherents of a particular religion is not only unfortunate but divisive , incendiary and insensitive. ”
The minister appealed to religious leaders to be “ more circumspect in their comments, especially on religious issues , because of the deeply emotive nature of religion and the tendency for it to be exploited for political gains by naysayers ” .

Quote:The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the use of the National Identification Number for registration for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME.

The registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, said the move was to provide more time for candidates to get their national identification numbers.

He said the suspension was also to address the technical challenges experienced at some centres.

He asked candidates to disregard the use of NIN for the 2020 registration and strictly comply with other procedures for the registration. He however said that JAMB will consider the use of NIMC for 2021 exams.

The board last year said from 2020, candidates will register for its examinations with their national ID numbera to solve the challenges of multiple registration.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY.

BE ABOUT HIS BUSINESS

…while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:10-11).

The Master’s return is for sure, and closer than ever. For that reason, we must be about His business. Become consumed with the pursuit of the expansion of His Kingdom. Seek, above all, the rule and reign of His Kingdom in the earth and in the hearts of men.

He needs to find us busy, doing what He told us to do. In John 14:15, He said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

He’s given us the authority, and commissioned us to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. So, enlarge your vision and increase your passion to make the Gospel known, getting others ready for the Master’s return. Some are asking how soon He’s coming back. Is it a matter of days, weeks, months or years so they can prepare and keep themselves clean before He comes. The time shouldn’t matter, as long as you’re in fellowship with Him. Walking in the light of His Word and of your salvation, you’ll be confident of His return.

What a day of rejoicing it’ll be when the Master shows up! The Bible says “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52).

There’ll be those looking for us, saying it can’t be real. Some would be wailing, bemoaning how they missed the rapture. But thanks be unto God! We all still have the opportunity to do the needful and make ourselves ready for that glorious day. Keep loving the Lord with all your heart, winning souls and walking in love. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Righteous Father, what a great and glorious God you are! And what joy to anticipate Christ’s glorious return! All my energies and passion are focused on doing your will and turning the unrighteous from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, making them citizens of your eternal Kingdom, where eternal life reigns, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

11TH JANUARY.

I affirm that I am a child of the day, and not of the night! The Spirit of God has ushered me into an arena of perfection and rest, where everything is working for my good.

I am an epitome of beauty; everything about my life is infused with divinity and speaks of God’s glory. Eternal life, love, health, peace, joy, righteousness, prosperity; are all mine!

I am well equipped by the Spirit of God and position by the Word for the right opportunities. I do not walk in confusion, for I am in Christ.

I am seated together with Him in the place of power; far above all principalities, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come.

I live in dominion over sin, sickness and infirmities, and every opposing force, accusation or hindrance. Hallelujah! I am in God's place for me; therefore, I can never lack! Daily, I walk in the light of my prosperity, being the seed of Abraham.

I have access to wealth untold because I am plugged into God’s unending supply. Hallelujah! The knowledge of God’s Word is growing mightily and prevailing in me; I am making progress by the Word and heaping up success upon success.

Everywhere I go, I carry the atmosphere of prosperity, joy, and increase, and Christ is exalted and glorified in me today and always. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!
