I Stopped Kingibe, Abba Kyari, Rufai Abubakar From Stealing $44m- Acting D-G NIA
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 09:14 PM - No Replies

Quote:Immediate past Acting Director-General (D-G) of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr Mohammed Dauda, has disclosed that he fought off attempts by Messrs. Babagana Kingibe, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and his protégé and incumbent D-G of the NIA, Mr. Rufai Abubakar, and Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari's Chief of Staff, to steal $44million NIA intervention fund. The disclosure was made in a brief to the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

In the brief, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, Mr. Dauda said he assumed office as Acting D-G on 6 November 2017, following a brief meeting with Mr. Kyari at the Presidential Villa. The Chief of Staff, he said, conveyed the President's directive to him that he should function in acting capacity while waiting for further directives. President Buhari with Chief of Staff Abba Kyari Bayo Omoboriowo / State House

On leaving the Presidential Villa, Mr. Dauda said he headed straight to have a meeting with Mr. Arab Yadam, who was D-G in acting capacity but was retiring. The meeting, he said, dwelt on what the retiring Acting D-G did in the seven months during which he ran the agency. The briefing, said Mr. Dauda, comprised his administrative, operational and technical duties, all of which were highly confidential. Mr. Yadam also gave his successor the picture of the agency's financial position, which included $44million he informed was part of the intervention fund that brought the Ikoyi scandal.

After the briefing, Mr. Yadam introduced Mr. Dauda to Brigadier-General Mohammed Ja'afaru, the Acting Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), who briefed him on the nature of the agency's assignments. Among these are the daily operations of the accounts for both domestic and foreign management. The Acting DFA also told Mr. Dauda that the $44million in his custody, which was not part of the agency's budgetary allocation, should not be touched because it had become an exhibit in an ongoing case. The purpose of the disclosure, Mr. Dauda said, was for his information.

Not long after Mr. Dauda assumed office, the Presidential Review Panel (PRP), headed by Mr. Kingibe, started its assignment in NIA. The agency provided the members office space, living accommodation, food and other logistics. Aside from Mr. Kingibe, other members include Mr. Albert K. Horsfall, a for D-G of the State Security Service; Mr. Olaniyi Oladeji, Mr. ZY Ibrahim and the current DG, NIA, Mr. Abubakar, who was PRP Secretary.

After the maiden meeting with the panel, said Mr. Dauda, Mr. Kingibe called him to advise that in his own interest, he should cooperate with them fully and avoid being close with the National Security Adviser. Mr. Kingibe also disclosed that they had presidential powers to overrule previous instructions or directives issued by the NSA.

"I was instructed to channel to channel all our activities, contacts, concerns and complaints through the Office of the Chief of Staff only," said Mr. Dauda.

He said the instructions left him in discomfort, as they contradict all the provisions of the agency's instruments. Not wanting to start on a confrontational note, he kept away from the NSA as instructed.

Things, he said, went on smoothly until Messrs. Kingibe and Abubakar kept pressuring him for money. Mr. Dauda said he explained that the agency's dollar account was low because of the difficulty in sourcing dollars from the Central Bank of Nigeria, following the crises that arose from the Ikoyi money. However, the replied that the $44m in the custody of the Acting DFA belongs to the agency and that the DFA had no power to stop Mr. Dauda from spending the money. They added that since the crisis had blown over, Mr. Dauda should go and tell the Brigadier-General to return to his job. He was advised to write to the National Security Adviser to withdraw him or ask the NIA security department to stop him from entering the premises.

Mr. Dauda said the pressure was huge, but he felt if the Brigadier-General left, he might not be able to resist further pressure from the desperate gang.

"They kept insisting that they had the mandate of the President and that the President had directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to hands off the money and that it was legitimately ours. They verbally queried me on the logic of keeping the money as an exhibit since there was no case pending in court. Ambassador Kingibe told me that he was the one who, through the Chief of Staff, drafted the memo that the President assented to, instructing the EFCC to hands off our case (Ikoyi Gate) just to convince me that there are no more encumbrances on the money," stated Mr. Dauda.

Still, no dice. He claimed that the kept pressuring and threatening that if he did not get rid of the Brigadier-General, he would have regrets. Mr. Dauda said he had no reason to get the man out and he actually enjoyed working with him. His refusal to do as they wished, he said, prompted Messrs. Kingibe and Abubakar to tell him at a meeting that he was refusing presidential orders to bar the Brigadier-General from the NIA premises. They warned him that there might be consequences if he remained adamant. At one of the meetings, explained Mr. Dauda, Mr. Horsfall advised him to ignore any suggestion that could cause confrontation between him and the NSA and advised his colleagues on the panel to put it as part of their recommendations to the President since they had his mandate, so he could order the NSA to remove the Acting DFA from NSA.

The pressure on him for money, the former Acting D-G said, intensified.

"They wanted money for medical treatment or holidays abroad for their families and girlfriends. I met and gave a lady simply known to me as Angela from Ambassador Kingibe money twice at the car park of the Hilton Hotel. Once $50,000 and the second time $20,000, which apparently did not impress him...Even the current DG NIA once called me on whatsapp, just like Amb. Kingibe always does, and said that his Oga was traveling to London for medical check-up and he suggested that I should find something for him as a sign of good will. So, I reluctantly gave him $50,000 against my will, a decision that made me sad throughout the day," he said. He added that Mr. Kingibe collected over $200,000 from him during the time he headed the PRP. Mr. Dauda said he was always using the President's name to squeeze cash out of the NIA. They also undermined the Office of the National Security Adviser.

On 20 December 2017, said the former Acting DG, Mr. Kingibe asked the current DG NIA to tell him to meet them at home at 59 Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro, Abuja. He was asked to come alone. At the meeting, he was told of his refusal to cooperate with them and they had brought him there to warn that the Acting DFA was conspiring with some people to steal the money. He was warned that he would be held liable if he did not stop their plan.

"They told me that their Committee had completed their assignment and that their recommendations were so generous to the DG NIA. They said they recommended the appointment of two Deputy Directors-General and watered down their powers enough so that they will not be in a position to pose any threat to the DG," wrote Mr. Dauda.

They then suggested that it was his turn to do something in return as he was likely to get the President's nod as the substantive DG only if he could immediately make $2million available.

"I told them it was not going to be possible as the only money available was the $44million and I didn't know how to approach the Acting DFA. They also told me at the meeting that if I can't sack the DFA, they would send someone to do it soon. That was my last communication with them until I heard of my removal from office on Wednesday 11 January on Channels Television around 8pm,' said Mr. Dauda.

The next day, he advised the NSA to look at the possibility of evacuating the money from the NIA, an advice the NSA heeded. The money was moved and taken to the Office of the NSA.

Later that night, Mr. Dauda said he received a call from the Mr. Abubakar, who requested for a meeting with him and the staff who worked with him at 10pm.Mr. Abubakar said the meeting was ordered by Mr. Kyari. The meeting was eventually moved to the next day after Mr. Dauda protested that it was too late. At the meeting the next day, an enraged Mr. Abubakar said the Presidency blamed him for not taking over immediately thereby giving room for the money to be taken away and warned that Mr. Dauda would be held responsible.

When he finished, Mr. Dauda said he told him no money was missing and that he approved the transfer so the money could be safe.

"I told him that if there was no ulterior motive, the apprehension was unfounded. I also warned him to mind his language as I have always been his senior in this service," Mr. Dauda stated.

He equally stated that his life is being threatened by the Kingibe gang and requested immediate protection for him and his family. Mr. Abubakar, he said, has already shown his hand with a letter requesting Mr. Dauda to return official vehicles in his possession. He has also received another letter restricting his movement on the claim that the agency was investigating leakage of sensitive information.

"These are acts meant to cow and intimidate me into submission and there are also attempts to bundle me out of my official quarters through extra-legal means and also to withdraw my security details, thereby impacting my security," he said.

He called on the House Committee not to allow the Kingibe gang to subvert the rule of law by bullying him into submission.

Benue Government Loses Confidence In FG Over Killer Herdsmen

• Says no going back on anti-open grazing law
• Accuses IGP of bias, abandoning state
• 15 die in fresh Adamawa cattlemen attack
• PDP berates Buhari over carnage

The Benue State government yesterday declared it had lost confidence in the ability of the country’s security agencies to bring to justice herdsmen accused of killings in the state.

It also warned the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and other Fulani socio-cultural organisations to stop calls for a repeal of the anti-open grazing law, vowing the legislation would remain.

“The Benue State government will not repeal or suspend this law for any reason. And we appeal to the police and other security agencies to enforce the law, which is their constitutional responsibility. However, if they continue to fail, with the help of God, we shall overcome this dark episode in our history,” it said.

Sen. Dino To Bello: Stop The Plans To Sell Kogi Properties Or Face Legal Actions

Melaye To Bello: Sell Kogi Properties, Meet Me In Court

Tom Olasunkanmi

The Senator representing Kogi West senatorial District, Sen. Dino Melaye has sent a strong warning to the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, advising him to stop his plan of selling monuments that belong to the state under the disguise of wanting to boost the economy of the state.

This warning was contained in a Press statement issued by the legislator today.

In the statement, Melaye said that "There is no gainsaying the fact that Kogi State is a civil service state. Although blessed with resources that remain untapped, the state has avoidably relies on allocations from Abuja to keep body and soul together over the years".

"Despite a poor Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) profile occasioned by the foregoing coupled with bad governance syndrome, Kogi has remain one of the underdeveloped states of the federation irrespective of its natural endowments".

Against this backdrop, he said it is unthinkable that the current state government under Governor Yahaya Bello will contemplate trading off what is left of Kogi's glory for momentary financial gains under the pretext of bolstering the state's finances.

"I therefore urge the Kogi State governor not to sell, as planned, the following edifices or legacies built by the past administrations in the Confluence State as doing so will portray Yahaya Bello as a prodigal son of the state".

"The state properties/legacies are Kogi House in Abuja; Mega Terminal Park; Kogi State Liaison Houses in Kaduna and Lagos; Commissioner Quarters; State Assembly Quarters; and Confluence Beach Hotel".

"For the records, no past governor of Kogi State since inception contemplated selling the state's monuments or properties like the ones listed above and as bequeathed by successive administrations, hence Bello must listen to the voice of reason otherwise his prodigal decision will be challenged in court by me as a representative of the people" Melaye concluded.

"Samuel Ortom Is A Failed & Drowning Governor" - Police PRO
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 09:05 PM - No Replies

Force Public Relation Officer, Jimoh Moshood, on Tuesday, attacked the personality of the Governor of Benue State, Mr. Samuel Ortom, by calling him a drowning governor, if he could watch his state degenerate to a lawlessness state.

He was reacting to the a press release by the government of Benue State that called the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to resign, if couldn’t restore peace.

He made the statement February 6, 2018 on Sunrise Daily, a popular early morning show on Nigeria’s best TV station, Channels.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Terver Akase, who was on the hot seat maintained the stance of the government of Benue State that IGP Idris should resign, “the state commissioner of police takes orders from the IGP, if he couldn’t direct his men to maintain peace in the state, then he should resign.”

The CPS accused the police authority of supporting herdsmen killing in the state.

Akase’s statement angered Moshood, “the governor should be the one to resign because he’s a drowning man, who has failed to put measures in place to maintain law and order in his state.”

The show nearly degenerated to confrontation between Mr. Akase, and the police PRO, intervention of the host Abuja studios saved the situation.

The host advised the police PRO to withdraw such “a degrading” statement, but ‘indirectly’ failed to do, the host threatened to discontinue the interview, if both men failed to abide by the codes of conduct of the TV station.

Abusive and derogatory statements aren’t allowed on the best Channels TV.

At a time, a former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, made a derogatory statement against the person of Mr. Ortom. He was mandated to withdraw his statement, which he did.

It’d be recalled that Benue State Government faulted the Inspector General of Police, over his comment that the recent attacks on farmers in the state was as a result of the implementation of the anti-open grazing law.

The state said it expected the police to be neutral in sensitive issue.

A statement by Mr. Akase expressed the disappointment of the state governor:

“We read statements credited to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris as having blamed the recent killing of innocent Benue people by herdsmen on the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of the state.

“We thought that the IGP was misquoted and expected the police authorities to issue a rebuttal to the reports hence our delay in responding swiftly.
Consequently, we have to respond to the erroneous impression which the reports have created.

“Indeed it was these unrelenting spate of attacks that prompted the people of the state to seek a permanent solution to the incessant clashes between farmers and herders hence the law for the establishment of ranches as the best method of animal husbandry across the globe.

“The law which has constitutional backing followed due process with the requisite public hearings and inputs from various stakeholders. The police authorities had ample opportunity to also make inputs while the process was ongoing. They however failed to do so.

“The unfortunate claim by the IGP indicates that some of those saddled with the responsibility of protecting and property and maintaining law and order have abdicated their duty and become accomplices with those undermining the very existence of the country.
This is unacceptable.

“If truly the IGP said what was widely reported by the media, our conclusion is that his is a clear case of a man who is either on a mission to mislead the nation or is complicit in the attacks on Benue communities and the killing of many people by terror herdsmen.

“The Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of Benue State is certainly not the cause of the crisis as insinuated by the IGP. Mr Idris needs to be reminded that Fulani herdsmen attacked Benue State more than 50 times and killed scores of people before the law was enacted.

“The IGP should tell Nigerians if states like Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Enugu, Edo, Plateau among others where armed herdsmen have killed hundreds of people also have anti-open grazing laws in place.

“It will be recalled that a few days after the killings took place and all fingers were pointed towards the direction of armed herdsmen, the IGP quickly rose in defence of the herdsmen and frankly tried to divert attention from the genocide being perpetrated by herdemen with a comment that it was a ‘mere communal clash’. Did he not know that there was a law in place in Benue State when he made that first statement?

“With his latest demand that the ranching law of Benue be suspended, it is now clear where the loyalty and interest of the Inspector General of Police lies – certainly not with innocent Nigerians. He has now positioned himself not only as the mouthpiece of those who are killing Benue people but indeed as their shield. Little wonder herdsmen still proudly carry out sophisticated weapons and willfully terrorize innocent people in the state without being arrested.

“We wish to place it on record that contrary to the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari that the Inspector General of Police should relocate to Benue to ensure that the killings stop, the IGP spent only one day in Benue and left for a destination where only he could tell. No one has seen him in Benue since that day.

“Nigerians must be told that contrary to the statement credited to the IGP, herdsmen are still killing people in Benue, so it will be wrong to say that enough security has been provided. At the last count after the mass burial of 73 victims of the attacks, about ten people have been killed in “Guma Local Government Area, one killed in Logo and many more receiving treatment in the hospital having suffered varying degrees of injuries with property worth millions of naira destroyed.

“Benue now has nearly 100, 000 displaced persons in seven camps established by the State Government. We therefore find IG Ibrahim Idris’ statement as mockery and a shameful dance on the graves of those killed in the state by herdsmen.

“The constitutional responsibility of the police is to maintain law and order and not to make or criticise same.

“That the IGP would have the audacity to blame a law made to ensure peace in the state and call for its repeal amounts to taking sides with lawless groups that gave notice to invade and carried out their threats.

“No wonder, the police ignored petitions for the arrest and prosecution of leaders of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, the masterminds of the current invasion and the attendant massacre.

“If the Inspector General of Police, Mr Idris is not competent to help bring an end to the invasion and killing of innocent people in Benue and other states by herdsmen, the noble thing to do is to resign instead of twisting facts to suit his objective.”

Carnage in Benue State have been going on for some time between herdsmen and Benue farmers, which has led to lost of lives and property worth millions of Naira.

IBB’s Statement: Kassim Afegbua Replies Police "You Know My Address"
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 08:57 PM - No Replies

Quote:Kassim Afegbua, spokesman of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, says he committed no crime to warrant being declared wanted by the police.

Afegbua was declared wanted over the statement he released at the weekend on behalf of Babangida.

In the statement, Babangida bemoaned the incessant clashes and killings across the country, advocated for community policing, restructuring and noted that the country requires a “new breed of leaders” in 2019.

Subsequently, another statement purportedly signed by Babangida was released to counter the initial one put out by Afegbua.

Although Babangida later confirmed the veracity of Afegbua’s statement, the police on Monday declared him wanted.

Reacting to the development, Kayode Ajulo & Co, representatives of Afegbua, said there is a “desperate” attempt by some individuals to “to intimidate him and bend his will”.

The statement read: “Prince Afegbua is a well known journalist and was a cabinet member of Edo state government with a known address in Benin, Edo state and Abuja, yet he is not on notice of the police invitation whatsoever, before the purported publication declaring him wanted.

“For the avoidance of doubt, there are spelt-out procedures for declaring a person wanted by the Police. The Police or other law enforcement agencies can declare a person wanted if they find reasons to do so, particularly if the person is a suspect in the commission of a crime and is on the run.

“The public must know that our client, in discharging his duty to his principal, General Ibrahim Babangida, GCFR cannot by any stretch of the imagination be said to have committed a crime that warrants such negative publicity. Neither is he on the run.

“Our client, however, remains undeterred by the desperate efforts of some individuals to intimidate him and bend his will and rights against the Constitution provisions, framework of Nigeria Police Force Act and the laws of the land.

“The circumscription of his constitutional right to the dignity of self, freedom of expression and fair hearing denotes that there is a desperate attempt to scare him into submission.

“We have advised Prince Afegbua of his right and remedies available to him, as a law abiding citizen of NIgeria, he has elected to make himself available to the Police on Wednesday once he returns from his trip.”

Nigeria Pays $496m For Acquisition Of 12 Tucano Fighter Jets From US
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 08:55 PM - No Replies

Quote:Olawale Ajimotokan and Michael Olugbode in Maiduguri

The Nigerian government has paid the United States government $496 million for the acquisition of 12 Super Tucano fighter jets to be used by the Nigerian Air Force in the ongoing military operations against the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-east.

The Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd.), made the revelation Monday at the special town hall meeting held for the military and security agencies in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Dan-Ali said with the payment of the money, the U.S. government will deliver the jets as soon as possible, after accepting the letter requesting the sale of the bomber aircraft.

The Defence Minister, who insisted that the capacity of Boko Haram insurgents to carry out attacks had been completely neutralised, said U.S. President Donald Trump had commended Nigeria’s military strength when they met at a recent security meeting in Saudi Arabia.

The minister recently had expressed concern over the stringent terms given by the U.S. government for the sale of the aircraft, including the non-inclusion of Nigerian military personnel during their manufacture.

However, he did not state Monday if the terms had been renegotiated with the U.S. before payment or if they had been relaxed.

Speaking on the decimation of the insurgents, the minister said: “Gone are the days when our soldiers dropped their rifles and started running from the war front. Our gallant troops have successfully degraded the Boko Haram insurgents.

“Let me make it clear that currently, no single Nigerian territory is under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists. For instance, before the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari, 21 of the 27 local councils of Borno State were under the total control of the insurgents. But today, they are all liberated.

“Currently no Nigerian territory is under the insurgents, while we have freed 30,000 people, mainly women and children held by Boko Haram.”

In addition, he said the government had acquired five units of caterpillar armoured mine-sweepers, new French patrol boats for the Nigerian Navy, and two fighter jets from Pakistan.

He also disclosed that many members of the Civilian Joint Task Force who had participated in pushing back the insurgents, may not be absorbed en masse into the Nigerian Army because of concerns over the federal character principle and other rigid eligibility requirements into the military.

However, the minister’s assertion that the Boko Haram terrorists had been defeated and territories in the North-east completely liberated was challenged by the chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Abubakar Kyari.

Kyari dismissed the minister’s claim, saying Marte Local Government in Borno, one of the local governments under his constituency, was yet to be liberated from the insurgents.

He said though the army had succeeded in decimating the insurgents, more efforts were needed to ensure the liberation of Marte Local Government Area.

Kyari also hinted that normal socio-economic activities were yet to return in the areas recaptured from the militants, following the restrictions placed by the security forces.

He advocated a review of the restriction on movement placed on the liberated areas so that residents could return and resume their normal lives.

In his remarks, the Bornu State Governor Kashim Shettima, who co-hosted the town hall meeting with the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, commended the federal government and military’s efforts to end the insurgency, but said they should not relent by clearing Sambisa forest of remnants of the terrorists still hiding there.

“Now all the local government areas have been recovered. Suicide bombing is not a sign of strength but weakness by Boko Haram, who are a bunch of lunatics that thrive on cheap publicity.

“The Nigerian military in the past couple of weeks has taken total control of the Sambisa forest; they could not do that in the past three years,” Shettima said.

He singled out the Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, a non-Muslim of Igbo stock for exhibiting leadership and professionalism in the fight against the Islamic extremists.

Shettima sang the praises of Nicholas, saying he and the state’s Police Commissioner, Tom Chukwu, both coincidentally from Mbaise, Imo State, changed the game in the battle in the war-torn North-east theatre.

“Some of our greatest recent feats in the conflict were done by non-northerners and non-Muslims officers in the military. Most of the soldiers that sacrificed their lives are not of the Kanuri ethnic group,” he said.

He admitted that the Boko Haram insurgency regained momentum after 2016 because of the failure of command at the theatre of war.

Shettima was emphatic that the change of guard at the Operation Lafiya Dole Theatre Command, which saw the replacement of Maj.-Gen. Leo Irabor, who is now at the Multinational Joint Task Force, did not help in sustaining the winning spirit of the troops.

Irabor was replaced by Maj.-Gen. Attahiru Ibrahim, who has also been replaced with Nicholas.

The governor said Ibrahim did not give a good account of himself, as his tenure as theatre commander was greeted with embarrassing attacks on troops and civilians.

Shettima said he was disappointed to observe that the previous commanders, who are from the southern states of Nigeria, did much better than the last occupant of the office who is from the north.

“The last theatre commander who is even a northerner had woefully failed to perform,” said Shettima.

He restated that the replacement of Attahiru with Nicholas was a game changer for the counter-insurgency operations.

“When Gen. Leo Irabor, another southerner, was leaving, he left the Boko Haram insurgents in a degraded state. But the insurgents picked up hostilities shortly after he left,” he said.

Shettima said the recent victories of the military over Boko Haram were as a result of the change of guard at the military command and control centre.

“Some of our greatest accomplishments in the current counter-insurgency efforts were recorded under army generals who are not from Borno and northern Nigeria.

“And what we have recorded in the last six weeks outweighs what was accomplished in the last three years, especially under General Nicholas who is yet another hero of our time,” he said.

Shettima said the current tempo of the fight could only be sustained if the federal government doubles its support for the troops, especially now that the rainy season is over.

“We want the federal government to deploy more resources and sustain the current tempo before the rainy season sets in,” said the governor.
“We need to root out Boko Haram now before the dry Sambisa forest becomes an impregnable fortress for Boko Haram.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lt.-Gen. AbdulRahman Danbazau (rtd.), said that the expected first phase of repatriation of Nigerian refugees in Cameroon, Chad and Niger from this month might be further delayed.

He said 80 per cent of the refugees or 80,000 of them were from Borno State.

Danbazzau said a technical committee met with their Cameroonian counterparts two weeks ago to review the development.

“We are working as hard as possible but the first phase of the repatriation which is supposed to be in February may not be possible and may be shifted by the committee.

“Repatriation is voluntary, but we have the interest of the displaced people,” Danbazzau said.

He said the refugees would only return once the military gives the signal that it is safe for them to return to their former places of abode.

Also, former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, who was at the meeting, criticised the federal government for underfunding the reconstruction of the North-east destroyed by the Boko Haram conflict.

Ndume said over N2.7 trillion or over $7 billion was required for the rehabilitation of the region, noting that donor agencies had provided N230 billion.

He added that the federal government only budgeted N45 billion in the 2017 budget, leaving the Borno State Government to cough up N100 billion for the effort.

He lamented that of the amount appropriated by the federal government, only N10 billion was released last year to the Presidential Council on North-east Initiative (PINE), a development that overburdened the Borno government with the reconstruction efforts.

Blind Prophet, Moses Kasali To Buhari: "Contest And Be Disgraced!"
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 10:33 AM - No Replies

Quote:The famous blind Prophet and General Overseer of the The Mountain of Mercy (aka Ori-Oke Alaseyori Church) of Moniya area of Ibadan, Oyo State, Moses Muyideen Kasali, dropped a bombshell during the weekend, declaring that President Mohammadu Buhari would be defeated should he contest in the 2019 Presidential election.

Prophet Kasali was among the Men of God who had predicted Buhari’s presidency shortly before the 2015 Presidential poll.

Kasali had declared then that God was backing the emergence of Buhari as the nation’s leader because He knew that the retired general had a very good intention of cleaning up the mess created by his predecessors.
The prophet had, however, warned President Buhari to beware of sycophants and political jobbers “who are likely to hijack his government and render him incapacitated and unable to please God in the assignment the Almighty has given to him,” he said.

In a press release to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the Prophet (who also predicted that the All Progressive Congress, a merger of other parties, would become a house divided against itself) warned that an attempt to rig the 2019 Presidential election by factions desperate for Buhari’s second term at the detriment of Nigerians would not only fail, but also bring ruin to those plotting it.

“The APC itself was founded on deception and insincerity. It is a pity that the party’s merger that produced the current leadership is largely composed of selfish men who became strange bedfellows,” Kasali said in a statement.

“The few ones who have genuine intentions to lead the nation like President Buhari have been overwhelmed by the bad heads. My candid advice for President Buhari is to heed the counsel of the wise and godly and retire to his home in Daura and perish the thought of re-contesting in 2019. I pray he would be wise enough to do this and allow Nigeria to have peace. If those who have constituted themselves as a cabal of this government make any untoward attempt to deploy state machinery to rig President Buhari into power in 2019… they will not only fail but would bring damnation on themselves and their families.”

MAKURDI—Suspected herdsmen, yesterday, attacked Waku village and a part of Gbajimba town, all in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, killing two persons, and destroying Governor Samuel Ortom’s farm house in fresh attacks in the area.

The latest attack came less than 24 hours after Yogbo, another community in the same local government area, also came under heavy attack by suspected herdsmen which left six persons dead and several property and farmlands destroyed. However, the attack on Yogbo was repelled by the Police, who chased the invaders out of the community.

Confirming the latest attack at the State Police Command Headquarters, the Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni and Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Mr. Anthony Shawon, said the herdsmen, who were backed by militant gangs, stormed the communities in the afternoon, yesterday. “The herdsmen, backed by their militia, invaded Waku village this afternoon (yesterday) and killed two persons.

They are also getting close to Gbajimba town, the local government headquarters and as I speak with you, they have attacked and sacked Governor Ortom’s farm house in Gbajimba. “Our fear is that if we are not careful, they might overrun the local government headquarters the way they are going.” Shawon, who commended the Police for saving Yogbo from being taken over by the marauding herdsmen, urged the command to continue to put up a brave fight and continue to sustain the resistance against the herdsmen’s incursion.

Police have deployed more men — Owoseni Earlier, the Commissioner of Police reiterated the commitment of the command to ensure the restoration of peace in all the troubled communities in the state, with a view to having all the internally-displaced persons return to their ancestral homes. “Already, the Inspector-General of Police had approved and deployed 15 mobile units of the Force from other states to Benue State; this is aside the Special Forces that have also been deployed to the state. “We have also concluded arrangements to deploy more personnel to Guma to flush out the criminal elements operating there.

“We have also deployed to these areas two Armoured Personnel Carriers which were released to us by the DIG out of the five we requested for. “Police visibility, intelligence capacity as well as deployment of technical assets have already been done in that area and in no distant time, these issues will be a thing of the past,” Owoseni assured.

‘Herdsmen enjoying support of highly placed Nigerians’

Meanwhile, piqued by statements credited to top government functionaries over the Benue killings, the state government has insisted that the rampaging killer herdsmen attacking various communities in the state are enjoying the backing and support of highly-placed Nigerians. Addressing reporters yesterday in Makurdi, over the call by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for a repeal of Benue State’s anti-open grazing law which the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, had claimed was responsible for the killings, Benue State Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Lawrence Onoja, Jnr alleged that such remarks were clear indications that highly-placed Nigerians were fueling the killings.

Onoja, who recounted the over 46 times Benue communities came under the attack of suspected herdsmen in the last five years before the commencement of enforcement of the grazing law on November 1, 2017, noted that the claim that the killings were triggered by the grazing law was untrue and baseless. He said: “The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, accused Governor Samuel Ortom of causing the lingering clashes between farmers and herdsmen in Benue and Nasarawa states.

He is reported to have spoken at a closed-door meeting with members of the joint Senate Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence on killings in Benue and environs when he appeared before the committee in response to the Senate’s summons. “The IGP is said to have identified the implementation of the anti-open grazing law and the arming of Tiv militia as causes of the crisis.

“Such statements coming from some of the nation’s top security chiefs may have confirmed the fears expressed by many people that the herdsmen unleashing murderous attacks on Benue may have the backing of some highly-placed individuals within the security apparatus of the state. “When those who are entrusted with the sensitive task of protecting lives and property of innocent Nigerians resort to placing unjustified blame on the good intentions of Benue State government to promote peace and security, then such people have unknowingly or knowingly become part of the problem we have on our hands today in the country. On Miyetti Allah’s threat “When the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore rose against the grazing law and threatened to invade the state, Governor Samuel Ortom, the Benue State House of Assembly, and leaders of all the socio-cultural organizations in the state petitioned the Presidency and all the relevant security agencies in the country.

No action was taken by those saddled with the responsibility to protect lives and property at the national level. “The state government also recalled that IGP Ibrahim Idris was ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari to relocate to Benue State in the wake of the New Year Day 2018 killings in the state to restore peace and order but available records show that the police chief was sighted in the state for just a day or so and then left immediately.

On Miyetti Allah’s threat

“When the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore rose against the grazing law and threatened to invade the state, Governor Samuel Ortom, the Benue State House of Assembly, and leaders of all the socio-cultural organizations in the state petitioned the Presidency and all the relevant security agencies in the country.

“The Police IGP’s initial casual description of the pre-planned Benue killings by Fulani herdsmen on the 1st and 2nd of January, 2018 as a mere ‘communal clash’ has clearly shown that the Police boss does not accord any urgency and seriousness to arresting the perpetrators of the mass murder of our people and his body language may have emboldened these herdsmen militia to further lay false claim of ownership to the Benue Valley through a so-called right of conquest. “We reiterate that until the masterminds and sponsors of the killings in Benue State are arrested, we will not trust or have confidence in the IGP of Police.

Conte on the brink after ten-man Blues capitulate at Vicarage Road
User Avatar Forum: Sports World
Posted by: Justice Ochie - 02-06-2018, 09:44 AM - No Replies

Antonio Conte asked for a vote of confidence. Instead he got the kind of crushing defeat that can hasten the sack.

The Chelsea head coach is under severe pressure now , fighting for his job, if he wants to keep it beyond this season, and make no mistake about that.
Will Conte still be in charge when Chelsea host West Bromwich Albion next Monday? Surely he will but this is Chelsea. Nothing can be assumed. This is a club that will not risk failure and are not afraid of change. They will not risk finishing outside the top four. And they are also less likely to risk it for a manager who has pushed them and tested their patience.

Defeats happen. But it is the manner of the defeat that counts. And this was shocking in its capitulation with Conte later complaining that his team played with fear, without personality, without confidence. That sounded like resigned talk. It was the kind of talk that Roman Abramovich, who is in London, but who was not at this game, will not want to hear. And neither, history has told us, is he afraid to act; especially at this crucial point of the campaign.

Chelsea have won only two of their last 10 games - and knocked Norwich City out of the FA Cup on penalties. With this defeat they have conceded seven goals in their last two Premier League matches: three against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge and now four, here, against a rampant Watford who were re-energised under their new head coach Javi Gracia.
Watford thoroughly deserved to win; a win that takes them six points clear of the relegation zone and halted the alarming run of results that led to the sacking of Marco Silva as head coach. This was Gracia’s first home game in charge and his January signing, fellow Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu, was outstanding in a rampant performance which Chelsea simply could not cope with.

Deulofeu earned a penalty, facing accusations that he dived, and scored an outstanding goal – one of three that Watford claimed late in the game and after another fine strike from Eden Hazard had drawn Chelsea level. Briefly level. For after their goal, Chelsea crumbled alarmingly as Watford hit back. And hit back hard with three outstanding goals in seven extraordinary minutes.

Chelsea had to play for more than an hour with 10-men after Tiemoue Bakayoko was dismissed following such a woefully hapless display that it led to cruel claims they would fare better with a man fewer.

Bakayoko lost the ball seven times in the opening 30 minutes, leading to three chances for Watford and was yellow carded for a clumsy challenge on Etienne Capoue after another piece of poor control. Just five minutes later referee Mike Dean cautioned Bakayoko again, after he again failed to control the ball, trodding on Richarlison. It seemed a harsh decision and Bakayoko was stunned while his departure was greeted with angry rebukes from the travelling Chelsea fans.

Those fans rallied behind Conte, and maybe that will count in his favour, maybe that will buy him more time but that looming last-16 Champions League tie against Barcelona now appears increasingly crucial. And it was a Barcelona player, Deulofeu, on loan until the end of the season who undid Chelsea and Conte. They could not cope with his pace, or that or Richarlison, who bizarrely burst into tears after being substituted, while their defence was physically dominated by a resurgent Troy Deeney.

It was Deeney who scored the opening goal, driving the ball home from the penalty spot, which sparked a dubious celebration from him that may lead to questions being asked by the Football Association. Not smart from a man who has served lengthy bans this season. The penalty came as Deulofeu ran onto a through ball from Daryl Janmaat with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois hurtling from goal. There was contact, but did Deulofeu make the most of it? Chelsea protested. Dean stood

With Bakayoko’s departure Conte, who rested Marcos Alonso and later suggested he got his team selection wrong, as he also started without a striker before bringing on new signing Olivier Giroud, sacrificed the fit-again Willian. On came Cesc Fabregas to provide some ballast but it was not until late on when Hazard sparked into life that Chelsea threatened. Firstly he dribbled into the area, cutting the ball back to Fabregas, who shot weakly. Then Hazard stole possession, cut inside onto his right foot and bent a superb 25-yard shot around goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis and into the net.

Would that be the late salvation? The unlikely comeback from the 10-men? Could they even go on and win it? Instead the exact opposite happened. Watford were stung into action and hit back. Hard. Very hard. Firstly Janmaat, of all people, restored the lead with a quite brilliant goal as he ran in from the right, evading two challenges, played a one-two with substitute Roberto Pereyra, evaded two more half-hearted challenges and side-footed his shot back across Courtois.

It was a stunning strike and then, remarkably, there was another with Deulofeu sprinting from his own half and as David Luiz – making his first Premier League start since October – and Gary Cahill backed off he accepted the invitation to carry on and stroked the ball low into the corner of the goal.

That sealed it. But there was still more to come with another lovely strike as Pereyra running onto Abdoulaye Doucoure’s pass before simply hammering a powerful cross-shot that flew past a shell-shocked Courtois.

It meant Chelsea have now lost their last seven league games when they have been trailing at half-time. It also secured Watford’s biggest-ever Premier League win and one of Chelsea’s biggest and most humiliating defeats in the Abramovich era. For Conte the heat is on.

6 Advantage Of HND Over BSC You Should Know
User Avatar Forum: Education
Posted by: Edoman - 02-06-2018, 08:36 AM - No Replies

Here are the 6 reason why the polytechnic student have advantage over the university student:

all polytechnic graduates also have an edge when you consider some factors.

1. Affordable school fees: the average and common tuition fee charged by most of the polytechnic in Nigeria is less than N40,000. As such, polytechnic have make education affordable to all Nigerians Unlike the Varsity that some of them charge above N90,000 Some of this varsity are: Lasu, Unisoun, Ansu, Eksu, Aau And many other university.

2. Quick certificate : within 2 years, you can also be among the working class and some have succeeded with their National diploma ND certificate You don’t have to study for 5 years before you start earning salary with your certificate and this has been very
helpful, especially for those who have financial issues.

3. Change of study and environment: Yes, this is another benefit of polytechnic education.
You can decide to change your course of study after your national diploma if there any reason to do so. Moreso, you can run a national diploma programme in Lagos and continue your HND in another polytechnic in any part of Nigeria. You can also go further to study in the university in any prefer state.

4. Easy admission: Easily as it sound, polytechnic admission is
less competitive. There are some individual who have been running after university for over 5 to 6 year without any breakthrough.
Polytechnic have made admission easier, with one or two trials,
you will conquer the problem of admission.

5. Job opportunity: presently now, some job are design only for national diploma holder and Hnd holder and as such, there will be lesser competition for those with polytechnic Degree. In some industry, there will be specification that only Nd are
needed for a particular position which exclude BSC and HND
degree holder. You should also remember that to be Hnd result
holder, you must have ND certificate.

6. Equal Certificate: all things are been equal in the polytechnic…. all polytechnic result have the same value either private, northern, eastern or western polytechnic.
However the Varsity certificate are not equal and federal university certificate is more valuable and wanted to any
varsity certificate. Admission by Merits: Admission in some
university is by power, money, connection, intelligence and many other factors. You may have to pay a some of money before
you can be considered for admission in some university. However the polytechnic admission is by merit,
candidate that perform excellently will be offered admission regardless of the
course and the school. There is no room for Foul play in selection of
candidate.

Buhari Visiting Nasarawa To Condole With Miyetti Allah Over Cattle – Fani-kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Monday berated President Muhammadu Buhari over his planned visit to Nasarawa State.

He wondered why Buhari should visit Nasarawa to express condolence to Fulani herdsmen and Miyetti Allah over the killing of their cattle.

In a tweet via his social media, he asked why the President has refused to visit Benue State despite the killings perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.

He wrote...

“73 innocent and precious souls are slaughtered in Benue by Fulani herdsmen and Buhari refuses to visit the state to commiserate with its people.

“40 cows are butchered in Nassarawa and Buhari insists on going there to express his condolences to Fulani herdsmen and Miyetti Allah!”

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State had on Friday said arrangements have been concluded for the visit of the President tomorrow.

Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls has said that Miyetti Allah will not stop Nigerians from voting out President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

This is in reaction to a statement by the group warning Nigerians against removing Buhari in 2019.

The BBOG convener on Sunday further cautioned Nigerians against linking Muslims with Miyetti Allah, stressing that the group was not a Muslim organization.

Aisha also noted that the Fulani is not a religion but a tribe of Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers.

She wrote: “Miyetti Allah is not a Muslim organisation. Fulani is not a religion it’s a tribe and they have Muslims, Christians traditional worshipers and atheist.

“We heard worse of Miyetti Allah’s threat in 2014 and it didn’t stop us from voting out an incompetent leader. This also would not stop us from voting out the incompetent President Muhammadu Buhari, Insha Allah.”

EFCC Recovered N511.9bn In 2017, Magu Tells Reps

Updated February 5, 2018

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered about N511.9 billion in 2017, information provided to the House of Representatives by the Acting Chairman of the EFCC showed.

Mr Ibrahim Magu, who appeared before the House Committee on Financial Crimes on Monday to defend the performance of the anti-graft agency’s budget for 2017 and its budget for 2018, told the committee that the funds were recovered in naira, pounds, dollars, euro, South African rand and dirham.

During the period, the agency recovered 473.065 billion naira, $89,258,124.97 (N35,415,846,317.29), £294,851.82 (N148,727,302.71), €7,247,363.75 (N3,246,336,430.27), 443,400 dirhams (N43,550,800.21), and 70,500.00 South African rand (N2,111,974.41).

Magu listed the achievements of the EFCC during the year to include the recovery of N329 billion from petroleum marketers by the commission’s Kano Office, securing the final forfeiture of N32billion and $5million to the Federal Government from the former minister of petroleum resources, as well as final forfeiture to the FG of N449 million discovered at Legico Plaza on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Other achievements are: the final forfeiture of over $43million discovered in an apartment at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos; withholding tax recovery of over N27.7 billion from banks; Nigerian Ports Authority recovery of over €6.6 million, recovery of N1.1 billion naira on behalf of AMCON, and the recovery of subsidy fraud funds of over N4 billion.

Mr Magu told the committee that in carrying out its activities during the year, the commission faced some challenges.

“A major challenge in the implementation of the capital estimates is the late and insufficient release of funds appropriated,” he said.

“Presently, funds have not been released for the furnishing of the new head office complex expected to be handed over by March 2018. We need the committee’s intervention in that regard.”

PDP Governors Dump Atiku, Pick Sule Lamido - Sahara Reporters
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion

Quote:PDP Governors, National Working Committee Dump Atiku, Throw Weight Behind Lamido's Presidential Ambition.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party's National Working Committee (NWC) on Sunday dumped former Vice President Abubakar Atiku who is warming up to run for President on the platform of the party come February 2019.

Eleven governors of the PDP during a meeting at the Delta state governor's lodge in Asaba made the determination. The governor amely, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Henry Dickson (Bayelsa), Benedict Ayade (Cross River), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta State), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Gombe), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), and Darius Ishaku (Taraba) together with the party's NWC led by the national chairman, Uche Secondus, were in Asaba for close door meeting to take a stand on the 2019 elections and examine the state of the nation.

A source at the closed-door meeting which commenced at about 7pm on Sunday and lasted about nine hours at the Delta state government house Executive chambers, confided in SaharaReporters that the PDP governors and the NWC collectively agreed to dump the former Vice President Abubakar Atiku and form alliance with former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido who they described as a true, steadfast and loyal party man.

"The PDP Governors and the NWC after several hours of deliberation collectively agreed to settle for former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido for his consistency since the party was founded. They viewed former Vice President Abubakar Atiku's moves as desperate and over ambitious. According to them, a true, faithful and loyal party man who has the interest of the party at heart will not turn into a political prostitute as the over-ambitious former Vice President Atiku has done." our source said.

In a six-page communique signed by PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus and the Chairman, PDP Governors' Forum Nigeria, Ayo Fayose read by Mr. Secondus, at the end of the closed-door meeting the Governors and the party's NWC, strongly condemned what they called the "unabated killings" across the country and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to come out clean on the herdsmen killings and address the nation on how to end the carnage.

"The President must take responsibility on the protection of lives and property of Nigerians which is the most important of his responsibilities. We believe that the Federal Government's decision to set up a Committee to address the issues of herdsmen killings is a pretentious approach to a matter that requires firm action and leadership by the President in line with his oath of office to protect all Nigerians irrespective of creed, tribe and political affiliation.

"The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been the author of restructuring and this was further expressed in the Report of the 2014 National Conference. The All Progressive Congress (APC) as a later day convert of restructuring is merely paying lip service to a matter of national importance. However, we have mandated our members in the National Assembly to immediately commence the process of initiating a Bill to address issues bothering on restructuring.

"We urge Mr. President to henceforth direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to adhere to the Rule of Law by obeying court judgements and orders such as the one involving the Ekiti State Government against EFCC and restrain itself from further political intimidation and harassment of known or perceived political opponents. We commend the judiciary for their commitment to the enthronement of constitutional democracy in the face of intimidation and harassment.

"We condemn in strong terms the massive corruption going on in the management of fuel subsidy regime which the Federal Government had declared non-existent while billions of Naira are being deducted monthly at Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meetings. The PDP states and local governments are vehemently opposed to the unilateral withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account by the Federal Government under any guise.

"We commend members of our party for their unalloyed support. We reiterate that our repositioned party is prepared for the 2019 elections and will ensure that all Nigerians aspiring to elective offices are free to contest on the platform of the PDP. We want to assure that no established organ of the party is allowed to align with any presidential aspirant. We thank the people and government of Delta State for playing host to this all-important meeting." the communiqué stated.

Journalists who kept night vigil waiting for the outcome of the meeting between the PDP Governors and the NWC, however, observed that the eleven governors have had a three hours close door meeting at governor Ifeanyi Okowa's lodge in the government house, Asaba where series of decisions had been taken by the Governors' Forum before the commencement of the enlarged governors and party NWC closed-door meeting.

Earlier, before the closed-door meeting the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus who was addressing leaders, elders and members of the PDP at the Unity hall government house, Asaba, discredited former President Olusegun Obasanjo's newly formed Coalition for Nigerian Movement (CNM), saying it is dead on arrival, adding that the All Progressive Congress (APC) failure to provide good governance will be a yardstick for Nigerians to vote for candidates of the PDP in the 2019 general elections.

Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of £578,080 Stolen From NIMASA

Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of £578,080 Stolen From NIMASA
Channels Television
Updated February 5, 2018

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of £578,080.00 to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Justice Saliu Saidu who made the order of final forfeiture held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had shown that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activity.

The EFCC had in December 2017 approached the court through an exparte application argued by it’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo.

The court had granted an interim forfeiture of the funds after Mr Oyedepo testified that the money sought to be forfeited is reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities of a maritime firm, ZAL Marine Limited.

The EFCC counsel also alleged that the sum was stolen by the maritime firm through some employees of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The EFCC specifically mentioned a Macfoy Irene who was said to have used her position as an Assistant Director and Head of Nigerian Seafarers Development Program to facilitate the fraudulent transfer of the sum of £1,074,600.00 from NIMASA’s Zenith Bank (UK) Account to an offshore account belonging to Swiss Bulk carriers S.A under the false Pretenses of training 54 Nautical Science and Marine Engineering Students on Sea Training on 16th March, 2013.

The money was said to have been transferred from NIMASA’s Accounts without any parastatal or Ministerial Tender Board Approval or Contract.

ZAL Marine Limited then allegedly received and retained the sum of £578,080.00 out of the transfer made to Swiss Bulk Carriers, S.A.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY, 6TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ CHRIST JESUS—THE LIVING BREAD✨

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4).

In John 6:32-33, in response to the Jews, Jesus said, “…Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” Then in the forty-ninth verse, He buttressed this point: “Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.” Here, He was talking about Himself—the Living Bread.

The Word of God is the bread which came down from heaven. Jesus explained to His disciples that the bread He was talking about was Himself: “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:51). Then the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:17 reveals that “For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.”

If we’re one bread with Him, it then means we have the same life, because we’re born of the Word (1 Peter 1:23), just as He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). Colossians 1:18 says, “And he (Christ) is the head of the body, the church….” The head and the body share the same life. If we share His life, then we also share His health, prosperity, strength and glory.

No wonder we’re called associates of the God-kind; that’s what we read in our opening verse. 1 John 4:17 says, “…as he is, so are we in this world.” Thus, we must walk as He walked: in glory, righteousness, strength, dominion, and everlasting triumph, for we’re sharers of His life—partakers of that one living bread—the Lord from heaven. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I’m an associate of the God-kind, born of the Word and Spirit of the Lord. I have a divine origin; therefore, I live above this world, and above circumstances. I’m indomitable, reigning in life by Jesus Christ, whose greatness and glory works in me mightily. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

# AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 6TH FEBRUARY.
I affirm that I am sent by God to speak His Word, and He has given me His Spirit without measure! Christ dwells in my heart by faith; therefore, I am rooted and grounded in love. The Spirit of God has granted me the ability to comprehend with all Saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that I might be filled continually with all the fulness of God. Hallelujah! I am anointed for such a time as this; God's Spirit has made me more than a man and has made my life truly supernatural. I can do all things through that anointing that enables me to live victoriously every day. My sufficiency is of God; Who also has made me an able minister of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. Glory to God!

Aviation fuel: Nigeria loses N110bn to Benin, Ghana annually
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation

Except fuel marketers improve on their aviation fuel supply chain, the aviation industry would continue to fail to meet up with over one billion litres of Jet A1 needed for the sector annually. At N220 per litre cost, 500 million litres demands could not be met last year. Consequently, the sector loses over N110 billion to neighbouring Lome, Benin and Accra, Ghana as Nigeria can only supply 500 million litres of fuel to airlines.
The remaining 500 million litres are sourced by airlines in the neighbouring countries annually occasioned by scarcity and high cost of the commodity in Nigeria. Aside that, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the global aviation regulatory body, has also projected that Nigeria will need two billion litres of jet A1 annually by 2030, occasioned by rise in travelling public.
Because of scarcity that had dogged the sector, most foreign, domestic and cargo airlines fly across the borders to buy, coupled with reduction in price of Jet A1. The General Manager/ Chief Operating Officer of CITA Group, a major aviation fuel marketing/supply firm, Mr. Betiku Olasimbo, made the disclosure during the launch of CITA/PUMA partnership. The partnership would see CITA expand its operations and services in the whole of Africa and to bridge the gap in supply chain.

Olasimbo said: “By 2017, we were just able to lift 50 per cent of the one billion litre-capacity. Most airlines tank up in Lome, Accra, and yet, Lagos is second largest airport in Africa which is supposed to present itself as a very strong hub both for passenger traffic and also for cargo.
Most of the big players in cargo are coming to Lagos, but after they discharge their cargoes, they move to Ghana to tank their fuel.” Meanwhile, there are indications that aviation fuel could rise by between 10 and 20 per cent in the country because of the rise in price of crude oil.
A managing director of one of the domestic airlines, who spoke to New Telegraph on condition of anonymity, said presently, Jet A1 cost between N207 and N220 in Lagos, depending on the marketer. The airline chief further disclosed that the price might be up to an alltime high of between N250 and N270 per litre.
Aviation fuel costs more in Nigeria and other oil producing countries than their counterparts that do not produce oil. Ghana used to have the highest aviation fuel in Africa until the government cut the cost by 20 per cent two years ago. For instance, in Nigeria, despite the stability in the lifting of aviation fuel across the country and the deregulation of the commodity, JET A1 has hit an all-time high of N220 per litre. The skyrocketing price of JET A1 in Nigeria has added more to the pains of airlines, which use 30 per cent of their revenues for fuelling aircraft.

Metro and Crime Herdsmen kill 13 in Nasarawa, Benue, sack 25 villages

[Image: herdmen-in-gun-herdsmen-.png]Female farmer attacked in Ondo
No fewer than 12 people have been killed while about 25 villages were sacked in a fresh wave of attacks launched by bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in Kadarko District, Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Members of the Concerned Indigenous Tiv People of Kadarko, who disclosed this at a conference in Abuja, said the latest attacks which began on January 30, were assuming a frightening dimension as the assailants were only going after people of the Tiv ethnic stock.
This came as suspected armed Fulani at the weekend killed a prominent Igbo trader at Anyiin in Logo Local Government Area of the Benue State. Also, a suspected Fulani man at the weekend attacked and injured a farmer, Mrs. Florence Godday, in her farm at Igbo Abo near Osi in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. Leader of the Concerned Indigenous Tiv People of Kadarko, Dr Benjamin Agbede, disclosed that apart from the 12 people killed, over 30 others had been wounded and were receiving treatment in different hospitals.
He disclosed that the breakdown of law and order had forced many of the people resident in the troubled spots to flee to safer communities. Agbede regretted that despite the killing, maiming and burning of people’s homes by the herdsmen, there had been no appropriate response from the Nasarawa State government and the various security agencies deployed to protect lives and property. According to him, most of the communities attacked were those occupied by the indigenous Tiv people who are mostly farmers. He gave the names of the sacked communities as Azer, Tamen, Bature, Agbara, Peter Agbede, Nguchi, Igbacha, Shatse, Gidan Sule and Ngur. Others are Nyam Adaga, Cha, Tseiyo, Ahima, Mori, Kpilaior, Che Tor, Chia, Anisa, Dooga, Mbamar, Rest House, Anom, Cha Utsaha and Ikpe. Agbede, who was flanked at the press conference by other leaders of Tiv community, alleged that the mode of attacks whereby the terrorists targeted one ethnic group, smacked of ethnic cleansing.

He said: “We are deeply worried that the area is also inhabited by other ethnic nationalities like Alago, Eggon, Hausa, Igbo and others but it was only the Tiv people that were selected target of the terrorists. This could be a plot to exterminate the indigenous Tiv people in Nasarawa State.
“We are also bothered that though the police were quickly informed when the terrorists launched their attack about 1a.m. on the 30th of January, 2018, there was no swift response from them.” In the Benue attack, many people were injured while scores fled their homes.
The victim, identified as Mr. Abushi, was murdered on Gbeji Road while returning from a local market when he ran into the invaders who opened fire at him and killed him instantly. Sources said the victim’s body was recovered by mobile policemen during a routine operation near Ayoo at Udu and deposited at the NKST Hospital morgue in Anyiin. A resident of the area, Chief Joseph Anawa, said thousands of armed Fulani mercenaries yesterday made fresh incursion into seven council wards of Mbalagh in Makurdi Local Government Area such as Taki, Anter, Nyijir and Tatyough as well as Ikyaior, Tse Ibume and Tse Keereke in Guma Local Government Area. T h e state Police Public Relations O f f i c e r (PPRO), M o s e s Yamu, did not pick his calls at the time of filing this report.
Governor Samuel Ortom also at the weekend took a swipe at the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over his comments on the ongoing skirmishes between Fulani herdsmen and crop farmers in the state. In the Ondo State attack, the 28-year-old Florence said she was working alone in her farm and was about to leave after the day’s work when the herdsman struck.

The victim said she decided to fetch firewood after working on her cassava farm when she noticed the suspect and decided to leave immediately. Florence added that she packed the firewood together and planned to leave the farm because she was scared of the Fulani. She said: “I was about going home when I noticed the Fulani man in my farm. I was scared but greeted him and he replied. I sought his assistance in putting the firewood on my head which he obliged. But before I could thank him, he attacked me with his machete in the head. “Before I could question him or know what was happening, he gagged me and tore my clothes.
That was when I raised the alarm. He suspected the noise could attract other farmers around, he took to his heels, with his blood stained clothes.” Florence explained that she managed to get to the nearest community where she was offered another clothes. She added: “I was tired and weak to walk again because I have lost so much blood but they helped me to the nearest hospital where I was treated. “I can’t really explain the motive behind the attack by the Fulani man, maybe to kill me or to rape me but he removed my wrapper and clothes before I could raise the alarm after.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, said the suspect had been arrested but granted bail while investigation had begun into the matter. Joseph disclosed that the man was a scavenger and met the woman in her farm and attempted to sexually abuse her; he injured her in the process.

He said: “The suspect is not a Fulani man but speaks Hausa; he is from Langtang in Plateau State but not a Fulani herdsman as claimed by the people. He has been granted bail and asked to come back to the station today (Monday), while investigation is ongoing. He will be charged to court after the investigation.

Again, herdsmen attack Ogun communities, sack 30 schools

By Daud Olatunji ABEOKUTA—SUSPECTED Fulani herdsmen have again attacked some communities in Ketu Local Council Development Area in Ogun State three days after a stakeholders’ meeting was held with the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu. Vanguard gathered that the Police boss held a security meeting with the leaders of farmers and herdsmen in the troubled area two weeks ago over the incessant killings of Ketu people allegedly by herdsmen. Narrating the incident, in a statement, the Coordinator-General and Director of Public Affairs of Ketu Advancement Forum, Kunle Abiose and Williams Olayode respectively said the herders invaded “our farms, hewing down palm trees for their herds to graze on.” The statement reads: “Surprisingly when the local people went to inspect the damage done to their farms, the herders again opened fire on them with the locals sustaining gunshot wounds of varying degrees. “This incident was well documented at the Police Area Command Office, Ilaro. “Presently, the atmosphere is charged as areas like Ikotun, Ologiri, Akeru, Ilukan, Ijege and Ajibode have continued to come under the influx of herds. The state Governor can no longer continue to turn blind eyes and deaf ears to the tensed situation. “Our farmers have been sent away from their farms, over 30 primary schools have been shut down, health facilities closed and economic activities paralysed.” “The climax of it started on 10th December 2017 when innocent aged women were attacked and macheted in-between Moro and Eegelu villages for their refusal to submit themselves to be raped by heartless herdsmen”, the statement added. While urging the state government to come to their aid, they said “we want Mr. Governor to rise up and perform the primary objective of a responsible government first; which is giving us security. We hope that the State Government will see our statement as a sincere wake-up call, and act in line with her constitutional duties to guarantee our security and well-being.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY, 5TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ The Fellowship Of Love✨

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him (John 14:23).

I n the verse above, the Lord Jesus said, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him….” This prompts a question: “Didn’t the Father already love everyone?” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

When He said the Father would love the one who keeps His words, He wasn’t talking about the general love of God, but love that produces fellowship. The Father would take notice of you and have special fellowship with you if you love Him. If anyone has this profound love for the Master, He says, “…we (the Father and the Son) will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

This wasn’t going to be a visit; rather, He meant the Father and the Son would set up their headquarters with and in you. I discovered this many years ago, and it made a deep impression on my spirit. I couldn’t get away from the phrase, “…make our abode with him,” because I understood what it meant. It’s a glorious communion; an inseparable oneness with divinity. You’re in Him, and He’s in you; you’ve become His operational headquarters, while He becomes your dwelling place.

This is what sets you apart in life—your fellowship with the Lord in love. You love the Lord passionately, and He’s all that you seek. Your love for Him is the reason you pray, fast, study the Word, win souls, and do the things you do. It’s the reason you’re in every church service and committed to the things of the Spirit. God’s greater blessings are only experienced by those who are in this class, those who are in fellowship with Him by
love, and not by law.

CONFESSION
Blessed Father, you’re my life, and all that I seek. In you I live, and move, and have my being; you’re my peace, my refuge, and my strength. I abide in you, just as you abide in me, and I’m bearing fruits of righteousness, walking in your greater blessings, in Jesus’
Name.

Smile Champions League: Real Madrid cannot make Lavente mistakes against PSG – Casimero
User Avatar Forum: Sports World

Real Madrid midfielder, Carlos Casemiro, has warned his teammates to tighten up the defence backline so as not to make errors ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The LaLiga champions stumbled yet again in their title defence, playing an away 2-2 draw against Levante on Saturday.

The Los Blancos have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey, losing to Leganes and must look to the UCL to lift a trophy.

Casemiro told beIN SPORTS after Levante’s game, “We made two errors and we let in two goals – that’s football,” he said.

The Brazilian international added, “If you make errors at the back, the opponent has the quality to punish you.”

“We started playing well, with control of the game, but then we made those two errors.”

“We have to think game by game, but it’s clear we can’t make those mistakes against PSG.”

Dangote’s Daughter, Fatima Set To Marry Jamil Abubakar

One of Aliko Dangote’s three daughters, Fatima, who sits atop a confectionary organization, Cupcakes Factory, is set to marry ex police IG, Abubakar’s pilot son, Jamil in March, 2018, and it has been tagged the 'mother of all weddings'.

Read the report according to Capital.ng below...

"The prospect of Fatima Dangote’s wedding to Jamil Abubakar is delicious, like the luscious little apples that grow in the orchards of Winesburg. The forthcoming union of the daughter of Africa’s richest billionaire, Aliko Dangote and the pilot son of former Inspector General (IG) of Police, MD Abubakar, promises to be the mother of all weddings.

It is a marriage made in heaven and signed to be actualised on earth, according to friends and family of the couple. Besides the apparent love and unwavering loyalty of the duo to each other, friends and family enthuse that there couldn’t be a greater match of equals and beloveds; from the moment Fatima’s courtship began by her beau, Jamil, families and friends of the duo embarked on fervent prayers, hoping that their attraction and love withstand the test of time.

The details are both in the telling and the seeing in respect of Fatima and Jamil’s budding love; the magnetism binds them resonates very loudly and exhilaratingly, arousing feelings of envy and desire among friends and family, wishing that they are blessed with something similar.

Fatima and Jamil have a lot working for them; both their fathers are filthy rich and eager to fulfil their ultimate yearnings and they are equally blessed with towering grace, humility and desire to unite in a lifetime of love and commitment.

Thus as the wedding bells toll for the couple, their families are planning to spare no expense in giving them the treat of a grand wedding celebration.

Trust Aliko, about five presidents in the world and all the past presidents of Nigeria are billed to attend his daughter’s weddding. Likewise, world’s renowned billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft boss, Bill Gate, has confirmed his intent to attend the wedding in March at the prestigious Eko Hotel, Lagos.

Unlike the wedding of Dangote’s first daughter, Halima to Bello in Kano city few years ago, Fatima’s forthcoming wedding promises to be star-studded.

However, being the daughter of a billionaire is enough fame already. When you are now the daughter of the richest black man in the world, the entire black race should literally worship the grounds that you tread.

Men should bow and women should genuflect when you as much as look in their direction. If you were ostentatious, unruly and wild a la Paris Hilton, the world would wave it off as a non-issue; it comes with the terrain, they would say just to cover up for your excesses. But Dangote’s daughters are not moulded like that. They are unobtrusive and laidback, almost Spartan and deeply religious.”

Another $202m Missing From NIA Coffers – Reps
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-04-2018, 05:45 PM - No Replies

Posted By: Victor Oluwasegun And Dele Anofi, Abuja
There seem to be no letting up on the scandals plaguing the National Intelligence Agency as another $202 million has been discovered to be missing from its coffers.
Recall that first there was the issue of $43million found in an Ikoyi, Lagos apartment said to belong to the NIA, Then there was the $44 million allegedly missing from the NIA’s coffers which the House of Representatives mandated its committee on Public Safety and National Security to investigate.
Chairman of the Committee , Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji (APC Zamfara) said while investigating the missing $44 million as mandated by the House, a stunning discovery came to light that an additional $202 million is missing from the coffers of the NIA.
In a post-meeting briefing with reporters at the weekend, the committee chair said it was discovered that a total of $289 million was given to the NIA by the Goodluck Jonathan administration for ” intervention”.
According to him, the money was not appropriated by the National Assembly for the Agency.
“The NIA got the money for ‘intervention’ from the past administration. For whatever reason, the past DG, Ayo Oke failed to disclose to the present administration that we have this amount of money.,” he said.
He further said: “Even the National Security Adviser, said it was when our committee began its investigation, they got the information that the NIA got $289million.
“You know we had a meeting with the NSA today ( Friday) we later discovered since last week in our meeting with the past Acting DG NIA that the $44 million is not missing.
“For now, I can categorically tell you the money is not missing. They only moved the money from one agency to another place pending when all the issues surrounding the agency is resolved.
“If you remember, there was this $44million which is among the $289million approved to the then Director-General, that is Ayo Oke. Just April last year, they discovered $43million in Ikoyi. He tried to say that the $44 million and $43million are part of the $289million.
But for us, we are still working to see where the remaining $202 million was placed. We only know about the $43million now, the one discovered in Ikoyi and the $44 million in their vault.
In the course of our investigation, we’ll come up with where the $289m really is, not the $43m and not the $44m but the entire amount.
“For me, the money($202million) is still missing.
If you subtract $43million and $44million from $289million, then where is the balance? That’s why we’re where we are today. That is why we have to intensify our investigation.
On the issue of the citizenship of the the new DG of NIA Abubakar Rufai Ibrahim and his wife, Jaji said by the referral of the House to the committee, the circumstances surrounding his appointment was discussed.
“One of the issues is that some are saying he has dual citizenship, but he said to us categorically that his father is from Katsina and he (his father) after sometime decided to migrate from Katsina to Chad. His mother is a Nigerian, and his wife too is a Nigerian.
“He even showed us the approval of the then DG that he was allowed to marry her. I think she’s Fadilah by name. She’s from Katsina. She did her secondary school in Sandamu.
“According to the documents supplied to us, he said really he did his primary school in Chad, but he did secondary school in Nigeria and his first degree was in BUK. We saw all that.
Jaji said his committee also discussed the allegations that he failed his promotion exams with the new DG.
“Not only that but we also saw all the promotion exams that he went through when he was in service. He passed all the promotion exams that we saw in his file. We also saw that he retired not as an assistant director but as a deputy director.
“According to him, he retired voluntarily, that’s what we saw in the retirement notification in his file.

Re: Ibrahim Babangida Tells Buhari To Step Down In 2019 For Digital Leadership

Quote:Former President Ibrahim Babangida has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to step down in 2019 to allow a generational shift that should reinvent the wheel of leadership and spur healing in the land.

Babangida in a special statement issued on Sunday also lamented the failure of the All Progressives Congress, APC to advance its change mantra in several areas of the polity saying that the devolution of powers which the party campaigned.

Babangida in the statement issued on his behalf by his spokesman, Prince Kassim Afegbua particularly lamented the flow of blood in the country saying that it was a thing of irony that the country that himself and other Nigerians fought to keep together is daily being drawn to the seems by the flow of blood across the land.

Babangida also lamented the herdsmen/farmers clashes as he called for the adoption of ranching as a way of stemming the crisis.

Babangida who governed Nigeria as military head of state between 1985 and 1993 while lamenting the recycling of analogue leadership said:

“In the past few months and weeks, I have played host to many concerned Nigerians who have continued to express legitimate and patriotic worry about the state of affairs in the country. Some of them have continued to agonize about the turn of events and expressly worried why we have not gotten our leadership compass right as a country with so much potential and opportunity for all. Some, out of frustration, have elected to interrogate the leadership question and wondered aloud why it has taken this long from independence till date to discover the right model on account of our peculiarities. At 57, we are still a nation in search of the right leadership to contend with the dynamics of a 21st century Nigeria.

Having been privileged to preside over this great country, interacted with all categories of persons, dissected all shades of opinions, understudied different ethnic groupings; I can rightfully conclude that our strength lies in our diversity. But exploring and exploiting that diversity as a huge potential has remained a hard nut to crack, not because we have not made efforts, but building a consensus on any national issue often has to go through the incinerator of those diverse ethnic configurations. Opinions in Nigeria are not limited to the borders of the political elite; in fact, every Nigerian no matter how young or old, has an opinion on any national issue. And it is the function of discerning leadership to understand these elemental undercurrents in the discharge of state responsibilities.

WHERE WE ARE.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria is at a major crossroads at this moment in its history; the choices we are going to make as a nation regarding the leadership question of this country and the vision for our political, economic and religious future will be largely determined by the nature or kind of change that we pursue, the kind of change that we need and the kind of change that we get. A lot depends on our roles both as followers and leaders in our political undertakings. As we proceed to find the right thesis that would resolve the leadership question, we must bear in mind a formula that could engender national development and the undiluted commitment of our leaders to a resurgence of the moral and ethical foundations that brought us to where we are as a pluralistic and multi-ethnic society.

Nigeria, before now, has been on the one hand our dear native land, where tribes and tongues may differ but in brotherhood we stand, and on the other hand a nation that continues to struggle with itself and in every way stumbling and willful in its quest to become a modern state, starting from the first republic till date. With our huge investments in the African emancipation movements and the various contributions that were made by our leadership to extricate South Africa from colonial grip, Nigeria became the giant of Africa during that period. But having gone through leadership failures, we no longer possess the sobriety to claim that status. And we all are guilty.

We have experimented with Parliamentary and Presidential systems of government amid military interregnum at various times of our national history. We have made some progress, but not good enough to situate us on the pedestal we so desirously crave for. It is little wonder therefore that we need to deliberately provoke systems and models that will put paid to this recycling leadership experimentation to embrace new generational leadership evolution with the essential attributes of responsive, responsible and proactive leadership configuration to confront the several challenges that we presently face.

In 2019 and beyond, we should come to a national consensus that we need new breed leadership with requisite capacity to manage our diversities and jump-start a process of launching the country on the super highway of technology-driven leadership in line with the dynamics of modern governance. It is short of saying enough of this analogue system. Let’s give way for digital leadership orientation with all the trappings of consultative, constructive, communicative, interactive and utility-driven approach where everyone has a role to play in the process of enthroning accountability and transparency in governance.

I am particularly enamored that Nigerians are becoming more and more conscious of their rights; and their ability to speak truth to power and interrogate those elected to represent them without fear of arrest and harassment. These are part of the ennobling principles of representative democracy. As citizens in a democracy, it is our civic responsibility to demand accountability and transparency. Our elected leaders owe us that simple but remarkable accountability creed. Whenever we criticize them, it is not that we do not like their guts; it is just that as stakeholders in the political economy of the country, we also carry certain responsibilities.

In the past few months also, I have taken time to reflect on a number of issues plaguing the country. I get frightened by their dimensions. I get worried by their colourations. I get perplexed by their gory themes. From Southern Kaduna to Taraba state, from Benue state to Rivers, from Edo state to Zamfara, it has been a theatre of blood with cake of crimson. In Dansadau in Zamfara state recently, North-West of Nigeria, over 200 souls were wasted for no justifiable reason. The pogrom in Benue state has left me wondering if truly this is the same country some of us fought to keep together. I am alarmed by the amount of blood-letting across the land. Nigeria is now being described as a land where blood flows like river, where tears have refused to dry up. Almost on a daily basis, we are both mourning and grieving, and often times left helpless by the sophistication of crimes. The Boko Haram challenge has remained unabated even though there has been commendable effort by government to maximally downgrade them. I will professionally advise that the battle be taken to the inner fortress of Sambisa Forest rather than responding to the insurgents’ ambushes from time to time.

THINKING ALOUD.

In the fullness of our present realities, we need to cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari to complete his term of office on May 29th, 2019 and collectively prepare the way for new generation leaders to assume the mantle of leadership of the country. While offering this advice, I speak as a stakeholder, former president, concerned Nigerian and a patriot who desires to see new paradigms in our shared commitment to get this country running. While saying this also, I do not intend to deny President Buhari his inalienable right to vote and be voted for, but there comes a time in the life of a nation, when personal ambition should not override national interest. This is the time for us to reinvent the will and tap into the resourcefulness of the younger generation, stimulate their entrepreneurial initiatives and provoke a conduce environment to grow national economy both at the micro and macro levels.

Contemporary leadership has to be proactive and not reactive. It must factor in citizens’ participation. Its language of discourse must be persuasive not agitated and abusive. It must give room for confidence building. It must build consensus and form aggregate opinion on any issue to reflect the wishes of the people across the country. It must gauge the mood of the country at every point in time in order to send the right message. It must share in their aspirations and give them cause to have confidence in the system. Modern leadership is not just about “fighting” corruption, it is about plugging the leakages and building systems that will militate against corruption. Accountability in leadership should flow from copious examples. It goes beyond mere sloganeering. My support for a new breed leadership derives from the understanding that it will show a marked departure from recycled leadership to creating new paradigms that will breathe fresh air into our present polluted leadership actuality.

My intervention in the governance process of Nigeria wasn’t an accident of history. Even as a military government, we had a clear-cut policy agenda on what we needed to achieve. We recruited some of the best brains and introduced policies that remain some of the best in our effort to re-engineer our polity and nation. We saw the future of Nigeria but lack of continuity in government and of policies killed some of our intentions and initiatives. Even though we did not provide answers to all the developmental challenges that confronted us as at that time, we were not short of taking decisions whenever the need arose.

GROWING INSECURITY ON OUR HANDS.

The unchecked activities of the herdsmen have continued to raise doubt on the capacity of this government to handle with dispatch, security concerns that continue to threaten our dear nation; suicide bombings, kidnappings, armed banditry, ethnic clashes and other divisive tendencies. We need to bring different actors to the roundtable. Government must generate platform to interact and dialogue on the issues with a view to finding permanent solutions to the crises. The festering nature of this crisis is an inelegant testimony to the sharp divisions and polarizations that exist across the country. For example, this is not the first time herdsmen engage in pastoral nomadism but the anger in the land is suggestive of the absence of mutual love and togetherness that once defined our nationality. We must collectively rise up to the occasion and do something urgently to arrest this drift. If left unchecked, it portends danger to our collective existence as one nation bound by common destiny; and may snowball into another internecine warfare that would not be good for nation-building.

We have to reorient the minds of the herdsmen or gun-men to embrace ranching as a new and modern way to herd cattle. We also need to expand the capacity of the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Army, the Navy and Air Force to provide the necessary security for all. We need to catch up with modern sophistication in crime detection and crime fighting. Due to the peculiarity of our country, we must begin community policing to close the gaps that presently exist in our policing system. We cannot continue to use old methods and expect new results. We just have to constructively engage the people from time to time through platforms that would help them ventilate their opinions and viewpoints.

THE CHANGE MANTRA

When the ruling party campaigned with the change mantra, I had thought they would device new methods, provoke new initiatives and proffer new ways to addressing some of our developmental problems. By now, in line with her manifesto, one would have thought that the APC will give fillip to the idea of devolution of powers and tinker with processes that would strengthen and reform the various sectors of the economy. Like I did state in my previous statement late last year, devolution of power or restructuring is an idea whose time has come if we must be honest with ourselves. We need to critically address the issue and take informed positions based on the expectations of the people on how to make the union work better. Political parties should not exploit this as a decoy to woo voters because election time is here. We need to begin the process of restructuring both in the letter and spirit of it.

For example, I still cannot reconcile why my state government would not be allowed to fix the Minna-Suleja road, simply because it is called Federal Government road, or why state governments cannot run their own policing system to support the Federal Police. We are still experiencing huge infrastructural deficit across the country and one had thought the APC-led Federal Government would behave differently from their counterparts in previous administrations. I am hesitant to ask; where is the promised change?

LOOKING AHEAD

At this point of our national history, we must take some rather useful decisions that would lead to real development and promote peaceful co-existence among all the nationalities. We must be unanimous in what we desire for our country; new generation leadership, result-driven leadership, sound political foundation, demonetization of our politics, enhanced internal democracy, elimination of impunity in our politics, inclusiveness in decision-making, and promotion of citizens’ participation in our democratic process. The search for that new breed leadership must start now as we prepare for 2019 election.

I get worried when politicians visit to inform me about their aspirations and what you hear in terms of budgetary allocations for electoral contest does not cover voters’ education but very ridiculous sub-heads. A typical aspirant in Nigeria draws up budget to cover INEC, Police, Army and men and officers of the Civil Defense, instead of talking of voters’ education, mobilization and sensitization. Even where benchmarks are set for electoral expenditure, monitoring and compliance are always difficult to adhere to. We truly need to reform the political system. And we must deliberately get fresh hands involved for improved participation.

We need new ways and new approaches in our political order. We need a national rebirth. We need a rebranded Nigeria and rebranded politics. It is not so much for the people, but for the institutions that are put in place to promote our political engagements. We must strengthen the one man one vote mantra. It is often ridiculous for me when people use smaller countries in our West Africa sub-region as handy references of how democracy should be. It beggars our giant of Africa status.

The next election in 2019 therefore presents us a unique opportunity to reinvent the will and provoke fresh leadership that would immediately begin the process of healing the wounds in the land and ensuring that the wishes and aspirations of the people are realized in building and sustaining national cohesion and consensus. I pray the Almighty Allah grant us the gift of good life to witness that glorious dawn in 2019. Amen. I have not written an open letter to the President, I have just shared my thoughts with fellow compatriots on the need to enthrone younger blood into the mainstream of our political leadership starting from 2019.

Herdsmen Killings: OPC, Agbekoya Mobilize Fighters, Declare War On Killer Fulani
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-04-2018, 05:23 PM - No Replies

The Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and the Agbekoya Farmers Association, AFA, have mobilised fighters in the Southwest against the continued killing of innocent farmers by Fulani herdsmen.

The groups have vowed to adequately protect Yorubaland from herdsmen attacks.

This development followed an attack on the farm of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.

Leaders of the OPC and the Agbekoya across the South-West, who spoke with Punch, said vigilance groups have been established across the region.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Agbekoya Farmers Association, said, “We have established a vigilance group and it will take off with 1 ,000 men any moment from now.

“We are training others who will join later. The vigilantes, who would be on oath, will be deployed in to all the nooks and crannies of Yorubaland.

“Ex- security personnel, who are now our members , are handling the training. Agbekoya from inception was established to fight for human rights. We fought for the rights of farmers during the time of the late Gen . Adeyinka Adebayo in the old Western Region.

“Members of our vigilance group can carry arms; we will get licences for their guns. In any case, we are not solely depending on ammunition. Our forefathers didn’t fight with sophisticated weapons. We can fight without modern arms.”

Also speaking, the coordinator of the Ondo State chapter of the OPC, Olayemi Egbeola, told the newspaper, “We have started mobilising our members across the state to flush out the killer herdsmen from our farmlands. We will get to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

“We are not afraid of their weapons . Let them come with whatever weapon they have. Our people should be assured that we will conquer the marauders and flush them out of the South – West.”

The Ekiti State coordinator of OPC Sola Ojo, also said, “OPC is meant to defend the Yoruba and protect our heritage. We are cautious in what we do . We take directives from the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Gani Adams. We are equal to the task even though we don’t carry AK-47 rifles.

“We , however , need government support in terms of logistics so that we can move round the farms without much stress . We don’t need to carry AK – 47 before we confront murderers. We conquered Badoo criminal gang in Ikorodu without carrying guns.”

Wink Chicken Herbs Pepper Soup For Ladies To Make A Guy Theirs Forever Unveiled

A self proclaimed sex consultant took to social media to advertise a concoction made for women so their men can be bound to them forever.

The concoction is made with chicken and certain herbs and spices. The woman is then expected to eat the whole chicken and drink the concoction. Once the woman consumes the concoction and sleeps with her man of interest, he will not look at any other woman again.

Apparently, the practice isn’t new because a Twitter user said it’s been sold in Dolphin Estate for years and women patronize the business.

She wrote:

In Hausa, this is called chi da ka za. It is a very potent herb and as such isn’t sold to single ladies except married women and brides to be (if you are not ready to be bonded to him, don’t use this). Please bear in mind that this is not charms or any way fetish but work of nature discovered by some wonderful northern women. It is therefore called chicken herbs because it is prepared like ‘concoction or agbo’ in Yoruba and used to prepare chicken. There are various versions to this herb such as the meat herbs, fish herbs, egg herbs, and the all in one combination which can be boiled with chicken, fish, meat or egg. But from experience, the chicken herbs supersedes in efficiency and durability. After the herbs is boiled with chicken, the woman is to eat it alone as it is for the revitalization of the internal structure and as well as firming of the pelvic floors. The efficiency of this herbs keeps a man grounded and its effect can last up to 6 months and it’s a 1 (one) time use (Results vary with individuals).

Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has confirmed the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state, saying laboratory tests have confirmed a total of 36 cases, including 9 deaths.

Akeredolu, who made the revelation in Akure during a live broadcast on Saturday night, said a total of 102 suspected cases of Lassa Fever had been reported in eight local government areas of the state.

“Thirty six of 79 cases have been confirmed with laboratory results, including nine deaths.

“Patients are being managed at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, while confirmatory tests are done at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State.

“At present, 127 hospital contacts and 308 community contacts were line-listed in all the affected local government areas while 30 had completed their follow-up,” Akeredolu said.

The governor disclosed that the government had reactivated Emergency Preparedness and Response Team at state and local government level to contain the spread of the disease.

He said this was in addition to active surveillance and contact tracing in the affected local government areas.

“Sensitization and community mobilization are also going on in all local government areas for traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders, market women and other stakeholders.

“Publicity is also ongoing through radio jingles, radio and television discussions in our media houses while educative materials such as handbills, flyers and posters have been produced and being distributed,” he said.

According to him, vehicles have been dedicated for transportation of samples and patients to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

He added that the Infectious Disease Isolation Unit at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, had also been expanded.

Akeredolu explained that some Personal Protective Equipment, drugs, and hospital beds were donated to FMC, Owo, while more nurses were deployed to the Treatment Centre to support management of the patients.

EFCC Arraigns Fake University Lecturer For N410,000 Fraud (Photo)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on January 30, 2018 arraigned one Mahmoud A. Sadiq before Justice Lawan Wada of the Kano State High Court on a one count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence.

The accused person allegedly obtained the sum of N410,000 (Four Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira Only) from the complainant under the pretext that the said money was to secure him a job at the Umar Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina.

Upon receipt of the petition, the Commission swung into investigation which later revealed that the accused person is not a staff of the University as he claimed, rather, he is a contract staff of Federal College of Education, Katsina.

The accused person pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.

Counsel for the prosecution, Musa Isah requested a date for hearing in view of the plea of the accused person. The defense counsel I M Sheik, moved a bail application for his clients, which was granted in the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) and two reliable sureties.

The case has been adjourned to March 27, 2018 for trial. The accused is to be remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

Banking Stocks Emerge Best Performers, Offer Investors 73% Return In 2017
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 02-04-2018, 02:00 PM - No Replies

Banking stocks, driven by Tier-One banks, offered the best returns to investors in the equities market in Nigeria in 2017. The banking sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which was rated second best bourse in Africa and 11th best in the world, gave equity investors a 73.3 per cent return on investment in one year.

“Given the resilience demonstrated by the banks amidst tougher operating conditions, the banking index was unsurprisingly the best performing sector in 2017, up 73.3%. Performance of the banks remained driven by resilient earnings, supported by interest income (due to higher interest rate environment),” a report on the performance of the market released by Afrivest Research last week disclosed.

On aggregate, the NSE All Share Index delivered 42.3 per cent annual return to share investors (local and foreign) in the review financial year ended 2017.

“It was a significant bounce back following a three year losing streak,” analysts with Afrinvest Research disclosed.

The overall performance of the Nigerian stock market has been attributed to renewed interest by domestic and foreign investors following stability in macroeconomic fundamentals recorded by Africa’s biggest economy in 2017.

Analysts with Afrinvest revealed that the resilient performance from the banks, especially top Tier-One banks in the likes of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, was responsible for the favourable performance of the sector in the review period.

According to Afrinvest, investors showed significant interest in Tier-One banks, which led to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc recording 64.9 per cent price appreciation in the period, while Zenith Bank Plc recorded 73.8 per cent price gain. Access Bank Plc increased its share value with a gain of 78 per cent, while United Bank for Africa Plc emerged the most improved stock in terms of price appreciation with 128.9 per cent growth.

Fidelity Bank, a Tier-Two bank, however, joined in the price gainer’s list with 196.4 per cent growth in share price in 2017.

The next most profitable sector for investors in 2017 was Consumer Goods. The sector’s index offered 37 per cent, following distance banking. Analysts have attributed the favourable performance of the sector in 2017 to increase in product prices and improvement in access to foreign exchange, as well as the relative peace in the north-eastern part of the country. Those factors, according to Afrinvest, positively impacted earnings of companies in the index.

The best performing stock in the Consumer Goods sector in 2017 was Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. The stock, a member of the Dangote Group, boosted investor’s money by 229.8 per cent price appreciation. This was followed by International Breweries Plc, which increased investors’ investment by 192 per cent price gain, as investors cheered the decision of its parent company – AB Inbev – to merge operations of all its subsidiaries in Nigeria.

In the same vein, the Industrial Goods index increased 23.8 per cent on the back of gains in Beta Glass Plc 69.2 per cent price gain, followed by Dangote Cement Plc, the most capitalised stock on the Nigerian bourse, which grew its share price with 32.1 per cent.

The Insurance index grew 10.4 per cent, as Linkage Assurance Plc increased share value by 32 per cent, while Mansard Insurance went up by 20.9 per cent.

The Oil and Gas index gained 5.8 per cent for the year, emerging the least rewarding sector. Seplat Petroleum Plc emerged the best gainer in that index with 56.9 per cent price gain while Oando Plc, despite the challenges faced with regulators in the year, delivered 27.4 per cent gain to investors. The positive performance of the oil and gas industry was mainly due to performance of upstream players, which was bolstered by the cessation of attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta as well as improved global oil prices. “Sentiment towards the downstream players remained soft during the year, due to absence of reforms needed to revitalise the sector,” Afrinvest Research noted.

The NSE All Share Index had declined 6.2 per cent as at April 20th, 2017 prior to the launch of the I&E FX window. However, following the launch of the window, massive buy interest returned to the domestic equities market to take advantage of cheap valuation of assets. Corporate releases for the rest of the year were reflective of the improving conditions in the broader economy; hence the rally was sustained all year. The NSE ASI gained 42.3 per cent in 2017, the second highest year-on-year index return in 10 years.

“Broad-based rally recorded across sectors as a result of the improved sentiment in the market. A broad-based rally was recorded, which drove all sectors to close in the green for 2017,” analysts said.

In its outlook for 2018, Afrinvest Research has projected that the banking index will again take the lead with 88.2 per cent return. Consumer Goods was tipped to return 37 per cent, like it did in 2017.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 4TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ THE BLESSING OF HEARING GOD✨

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee (1 Kings 3:12).

Our God is awesome. He’s so great and mighty. His Word is everlasting, and ever-sure, producing in you, and for you, whatever message it carries. When He speaks, whatever He says becomes. This is why it’s such a blessing to hear God; to receive His Word. What He says is, is. , I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee (1 Kings 3:12).

Our God is awesome. He’s so great and mighty. His Word is everlasting, and ever-sure, producing in you, and for you, whatever message it carries. When He speaks, whatever He says becomes. This is why it’s such a blessing to hear God; to receive His Word. What He says is, is. His Word to you at any time in your life, regarding any situation, is all you need.

For example, the Bible says, the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night and gave Solomon a blank cheque. He asked him, “What do you want?” Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding (1 Kings 3:8-9). Now, God didn’t send an angel from heaven to open Solomon’s brain and deposit wisdom inside. He didn’t give Solomon something to eat or drink, so he may become wise. All He said was, “Solomon, you have it!”

That’s what we read in our opening verse. The moment God spoke those words, Solomon became what God said. O, the blessedness of hearing God! He did the same with Abraham, who at the time was still called “Abram.” God said, “Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee” (Genesis 17:5).

Abraham had no children, because his wife was barren, but God said, “I have made you a father of many nations.” God didn’t say, “I will make you a father of many nations;” no. He said, “Your name is now Abraham, because I have made you a father of many.” When did God make him the father of many nations? It happened the instant He spoke His Word to him and changed his name!

Read Romans 4:19-20: when he began to confess what God said about him, Sarah, his wife, received strength to conceive (Hebrews 11:11). That’s how it works: when God says it, you become it, the moment you respond by affirming the same thing.

CONFESSION
I’m born of the incorruptible seed of God’s Word. I’m unconquerable and indestructible because the Word of God is my life. I’m strengthened with all might in my inner man and therefore can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:
Proverbs 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.

The member representing Delta Central at the National Assembly , Senator Ovie Omo- Agege of the All Progressives Congress , has rejected the proposed establishment of cattle colonies across the country , saying that the Urhobo ethnic nationality in the Niger Delta are strongly against the move.

Rising from consultations with Urhobo leaders across the country , Omo - Agege urged the Federal Government to exclude Urhobo communities , particularly in Delta Central in the arrangement . According to him , no community is ready to offer their land for such a purpose after their residents have been killed and their farmlands destroyed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the past.

In a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday in Effurun , the senator noted that the establishment of the cattle colonies would not end the incessant clashes between marauding Fulani herdsmen and local farmers in the country .

He said , “Since the announcement by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh , that cattle colonies would be established across our country for herdsmen to curb the increasing cases of clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the country , I have met with various leaders, stakeholders and constituents in Delta Central to discuss this complex and controversial topic .

“Those discussions have revealed to me that the majority of the Urhobo people are strongly opposed to cattle colonies on their land. No one wants it and no community is ready to give its land to those who have killed their people and raped their wives .”

Ooni Of Ife And Oluwo Of Iwo Clash At Traditional Rulers’ Council Meeting
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-03-2018, 05:58 PM - No Replies

Quote:TUNDE THOMAS and CLEMENT ADEYI

The traditional rulers summit which took place in Port-Harcourt last Tuesday was almost marred by an unpleasant confrontation between the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi ,and the Chief Securiy Officer (CSO) to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

The tense situation could have snowballed into a bigger crisis but for reason that eventually prevailed.

The incident occurred at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.

It was gathered that the Ooni of Ife ,Oba Ogunwusi had just finished giving a vote of thanks, and was on his way back to his seat when his CSO, Mr. Emmanuel Olawale Kolawole, who led other security aides of the monarch allegedly had a brush with the Oluwo, who appeared to be blocking the Ooni from accessing his seat.

The Oluwo, it was learnt, was by then discussing with the Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdurahman Dambazzau, who shared the high table with the Ooni and the Rivers State gover, Nyesome Wike.

A source in the Oluwo’s court who witnessed the incident alleged that the CSO out of overzealousness, threatened to push the monarch if he did not give way for Ooni to pass.

He was said to have ignored Oba Akanbi’s entreaties to “take it easy” and pushed him out of the way.

A visibly embarrassed Oluwo, who is the Deputy Chairman of the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council had to step aside to pave way for Ooni to get to his seat, the source said.

But the media aide to the Ooni, Comrade Moses Olafare, denied that such scenario ever happened in Port Harcourt.

Olafare lamented that the report was not only shocking and a big surprise but also misleading, adding that there was no iota of truth in it.

Some of the guests at the event, and other eye witnesses accounts reported observing Ooni expressing satisfaction with the conduct of his CSO.

Some dignitaries at the event were however taken aback on what they considered as desecration of the crown wondering loudly how Ooni’s CSO could have the effrontery to push a first class paramount ruler of Oluwo’s status.

The security detail concerned, Kolawole, also denied pushing the Oluwo or manhandling him, although he admitted in a telephone interview that the had an encounter with the monarch in the course of discharging his legitimate duty.

He said he could not have disrespected a revered Oba as a true Yoruba son, but maintained that he had a duty to secure his principal.

According to him, when the Ooni finished his speech and was returning to his seat beside the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen Abdurahman Dambazzau and the Rivers state governor ,as well as some Emirs ,he quickly moved to receive and sit behind him.

“I didn’t expect the Oluwo to stand there because his seat was not there. So, I only excused and asked him to move away from there. I didn’t push him as alleged’’.

Emmanuel who reiterated that he was only doing his job added; ’’I’m the Ooni’s CSO, and all the other CSOs sat behind their principals.

He also denied that he acted on the instruction or the approval of Ooni Adeyeye, saying that he was not aware of any cold war between the two royal fathers. “Eyan wa ni won now, meaning: He (Oluwo) is our own now. How could I have done that?”
Olafare in a reaction added that there were over 100 journalists and 30 camera men at the event, arguing that if such a thing happened, it would have been reported since last when the event was held.

He wondered why the report was being pushed in the media “to cause confusion.”

He said there has been no running battle between the Ooni and Oluwo, adding that when the Ooni arrived the venue of the occasion, Oluwo was the first among the set of prominent traditional rulers and guests that he (the Ooni) greeted.

He, however, argued that what the Oluwo had misunderstood as a molestation by the Ooni’s CSO was a mere protocol assignment that he (the CSO) had the mandate to perform for his principal.

Olafare said that the CSO politely asked the Oluwo to excuse the Ooni to be able to access his seat.

He said that in fairness to him, the Oluwo obliged immediately and the Ooni was able to access his seat.

“Going to the high table to introduce himself to Dambazzau on the high table while the programme was still on and blocking the Ooni from accessing his seat after delivering his speech and blocking the views of other guests was a breach of protocol on the part of the Oluwo.

In any case, when his CSO politely asked him to excuse the Ooni to get to his seat, he obliged in fairness to him and there was no problem. So, it is surprising that Oluwo is now trying to make a case out of this,” Olafare said.

Thirteen states have not paid their teachers some for as long as 28 months, Nigeria Union Teachers (NUT) revealed this.
Osun tops the list with 28 months followed by Nasarawa, 26, Kogi 25, Benue 12 and Ekiti nine months.

NUT President, Comrade Alogba Olukoya, revealed this at the union’s 2018 annual gathering. He said the union is compiling reports from across the states before embarking on the strike. He added that both primary and secondary school teachers are affected.

“When we get report on salary, if it is not encouraging we will embark on strike. The next is the state of decays in our schools’ laboratories and libraries,” he said.
Olukoya appealed to the states to pay or begin to see the wrath of the Nigerian teachers. He, however, said Benue state will be excused from the strike because of the security challenges affecting the state at the moment.

He said the union has received assurance from the state government that the outstanding salaries will be paid soon.
The union however, berated the action of Kaduna state government for sacking teachers and directive to stop deduction of check off dues for trade unions.

The number of teachers affected in the 13 states were said to be about 300,000. The NUT could not give the amount owed teachers saying it has no record of that at the moment.

Buhari: Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Falana Attack Obasanjo
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-03-2018, 05:40 PM - No Replies

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu, former governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, and Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, have chided former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his recent statement where he advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

Tinubu, who said Obasanjo was playing politics with the special statement he wrote to the President, explained that if the former President meant well, he would have met with the President to talk about the issues he raised in the letter.

Tinubu spoke in an interview with journalists when he visited Governor Rochas Okorocha in company with the pioneer National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, at the Government House in Owerri, on Friday. He said he was in Owerri to see the governor, Rochas Okorocha, who he described as his “good friend” and to pay his respect to the late Chief Alex Ekwueme.

He said, “I believe that would have been the conversation between retired military heads of state. They have unfettered access to each other either through the Council of State or any other means; he could see the current President privately.

“They both had the same background. He (Obasanjo) was also his senior in the army. I think Obasanjo was playing politics with the public letter. That is all I see. They also met at the African Union meeting too. He has a way of discussing with the President any time he wants.”

On the coalition championed by the former President, Tinubu said it was not yet time to speak on the matter.

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole said Obasanjo was not in the right position to give such advice because he was not a known adviser to Buhari.

Speaking with State House correspondents shortly after meeting with the President behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, Oshiomhole said, “I’m not sure when I see the list of the (President’s) advisers, that President Obasanjo is one of the advisers.

“I also recall with respect that the day President Obasanjo was inaugurating some of his advisers, he did say that anybody who is his adviser can advise him, he will make his own decisions. I think that principle still stands.”

He said it was important for Buhari to know he had men and women who had huge confidence in his leadership ability, especially during trying times.

He said, “Nigeria was below ground level and from what you guys report that I read, we have always had challenges but never in terms of this scale and magnitude.

“What President Buhari inherited is difficult to describe. I have said so before that when you meet such a situation, your first task is to halt the drift. When you halt the drift, then you stabilise before you begin to go. There is no miracle about it.

“I don’t think that anybody who understands the challenge of nation-building, of national economic management and so on will expect that in two years you can fix in a sustainable manner all of the things that have been destroyed over 16 years before this party came into office.

Couple Killed Along With Others By Fulani Herdsmen In Taraba. Graphic Photos

Confirmed reports have it that Fulani herdsmen went on a fresh rampage in Taraba State Thursday night,10 hours after Governor Darius Ishaku raised the alarm that they were coming. Four persons ,including a couple ,were murdered at Ngutwsem village in Gassol local government area in the night attack.

The couple were named as Mr. Shiriga Vaawombo and his wife, Ngunan.

A relation who witnessed the invasion said that as soon as Shiriga heard the first sound of gun shots,he took his wife to a place outside their house where he thought she could be safe before they were both killed.

The villagers hurriedly used blunt diggers and hoes to dig graves to bury the victims.

Below is what was shared by Nelson C . Len, the special adviser New Media to Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba state;

What my eyes saw today was indeed barbaric, inhuman and devilish, for anyone to take another's life irrespective of what tribe or religion. Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku had raised alarm few days back on an impending attack to villagers in the state which has come to reality already.

We may think life is easy to waste just as many no longer value it anymore but judgements awaits anyone who gets involved in one way or the other. The story of what happened in Wuro Jam in Gasol LG is so disturbing that could lead to disharmony amongst neighborhood. A Tiv man who's yam seedlings were eaten up by cows and he went to report to the village head and after reaching an agreement that the Fulani man will pay 40 thousand Naira for the damage which he agreed, went ahead to threaten the farmers with an attack. A day after they gave him the money and came back that night in there numbers with guns and matchet and cleared the entire man's family just because of cows.

The question here is why will they kill four lives in such a painful and unholy way? Is it because they demanded for there right? Is there another motive behind the attack? Are the cows now important than human lives? Are these people also from another land and unknown?

Answers to the above questions will be a factor to get to the root of those sponsoring these continues killings because those that committed this very evil are resident of that village and must never be allowed to go Scott free

Main while resident are parking out of the area for fear of another attack. A eye witness told me that he saw over 20 of the herdsmen all with AK47 and matchet.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FEBRUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*CHOSEN TO KNOW HIS WILL .*

Saturday, February 3rd .
Pastor Chris

_*And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth (Acts 22:14).*_

The unregenerate man can’t discern or walk in the will of God; God’s will and ways of doing things are mysterious to him. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, _*“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”*_ But this isn’t so for you that are born again. Jesus said it’s given to you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God (Mark 4:11, Luke 8:10). You’re chosen to know God’s will. It’s our heritage in Christ.

This means there shouldn’t be doubts or uncertainties in your life; you can discern, and walk in God’s perfect will at all times. Some Christians have been in situations where they didn’t know God’s will; they were trying to make a decision and didn’t know what to do. No! That shouldn’t be your experience.

In Colossians 1:9, we read something instructive. The Christians in Colosse, at the time of Paul’s epistle, were still babies in Christ. So, Paul and Timothy prayed for them to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will: _*“For this cause we also…do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”*_ They couldn’t have been praying for the Colossian Christians to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will if they themselves hadn’t been filled with the knowledge of His will.

It’s part of the reasons we emphasize meditating on the Word, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. God and His Word are one, and His Word is His will expressed. More so, the Word of God is the wisdom of God, and wisdom is walking in the will of God. Get to know the Word, and you’ll never walk in confusion.

Ephesians 1:9 tells us that God has made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure, which He had purposed in Himself. Even now, say to yourself, “I’m chosen to know God’s will. I have insight into mysteries and secrets of the Kingdom.” Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for choosing me to know your will. As I meditate on the Word, and fellowship with the Spirit, your will is unveiled to my spirit; my spirit is enlightened, and I have insight into mysteries and secrets. Your wisdom directs me, causing me to manifest righteousness everywhere I go, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 Corinthians 2:9-10* But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. *||*

*||* *Colossians 1:9-10* For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; *||*

I affirm that God is at work in me! I am His living tabernacle; the embodiment of His person. I am born of God and I have the same quality of life with Him. Though I live in this world, I am not of this world; I am from above and my origin is God. Therefore, I refuse to be subject to the elements of this world or its corrupting influences. I’ve been divinely enabled to walk in prosperity, health, success, and victory. I am different; when I step into a place, things start working because I carry heaven on the inside of me. The life of God in me makes me an impregnable breed, one that is not subject to sickness, defeat or failure. I am an absolute success and victor in life. A suspected fake Military Officer, one Seaman Okonkwo Ebuka Emmanuel, dressed in military uniform to deceive the police on stop and search along Ogwashi-Uku/Ibusa expressway has been arrested along side two others - Ugochukwu Eludi and Chuks Ogbonna for allegedly stealing a Honda Crosstour saloon car with Reg. No. Abuja (BWR 199 PV).

According to the PPRO of the Delta State Command, the suspects were heading from Kwale to Asaba on the 30th of January, 2018, when they were intercepted by the Dragon Patrol Team 21, led by officer Imonikhe Imo.

He said that questions put to the suspects with regards to ownership of the vehicle could not be answered, prompting the officers to search the vehicle where they discovered a wrap of Indian Hemp, two phones and the vehicle particulars.

The PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said that call was put across to the number on the vehicle papers, only to discover the vehicle was stolen from one Ogwe Chidiebere in Lagos.

Aniamaka however, confirmed that the suspects and the stolen vehicle had been handed over to Ogwashi-Uku Division for further investigation.

Senate Vs Magu: Court Judgement Has No Effect - Sagay, Keyamo React

POLITICSNGR

Senior Lawyers, Itse Sagay and Festus Keyamo have weighed in on a recent court judgment regarding Ibrahim Magu's status as the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

On Thursday, a federal high court in Abuja presided over by Justice T. Tsoho ruled that the Nigerian Senate acted in accordance with the law when it screened and rejected Ibrahim Magu's nomination as chairman of the EFCC.

Reacting to the development, Keyamo said; “The fact that the law has not circumscribed the amount of time or the time period that someone can act as the head of an agency, it would mean therefore that I see no legal problem at all in Ibrahim Magu continuing to act as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, there is no legal impediment at all.”

Sagay, who is also the chairman of PACAC, said; "I don’t expect that the judgment will have an effect on Ibrahim Magu’s status as Acting EFCC Chairman. I don’t expect that there’s anything externally that is going to affect Magu’s position.

"I don’t know whether the judge considered Section 171 of the Constitution which even allows the President to appoint heads of agencies like Magu’s agency without any reference to the Senate. That is already there, so I don’t know what was brought to the court’s attention. When we see the full judgment we will be able to express our opinion,".

2019: Nigeria Will Be Destroyed If Buhari Wins Second Term - Nwabueze
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2018, 08:31 PM - No Replies

Professor Ben Nwabueze has issued a warning about President Buhari's Bid for Second term in 2019.Nwabueze, an Elder statesman said that Nigeria will cease to exist if the president's re-election bid is successful.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) added that Nigeria has become a failed state under Buhari noting that his administration failed to provide security and improve the welfare of Nigerians. He said;

"By all internationally relevant and accepted indices and indicators, and judged by the reality on the ground, Nigeria is justifiably categorised as a failed state, now ranked 15th among the ‘worst failed’ states in the world.

If president Buhari is given a second term in office, God forbid that he should ever get a second term, Nigeria will cease to exist, except in the sense in which Zaire, under (late) Mobutu (Sese Seko) existed. That is as an idea without an existential content, a state existing only in name or the map as a mere geographical expression.

I believe, however, that the country can be made to work again, as it was doing before, and to become a great nation it is destined to be, and a leading star in the affairs of the African continent and, indeed, the world. But, for that to happen, there has to be a change of leadership.

It is gratifying that the Boko Haram insurgents have been dislodged from the areas over which they took control, but, it is equally sad that they still continue to kill, maim and brutalise large numbers of people and to destroy properties, resulting in the displacement of thousands from their homes.

Following on the heels of the Boko Haram atrocities is the Fulani herdsmen menace. It started in the form of farmers’ herdsmen clashes but has now developed into a scary dimension,” known to be as bloody and murderous and atrocious as Boko Haram insurgency. In Benue State, in particular, it has been a long chain of killings, dating back to 2013. In that year alone, Benue recorded eight attacks in villages resulting in deaths. There were 16 attacks in 2014, eight in 2015, the same number in 2016, and five in 2017.

The number of deaths is put at about 3,000 across the country. The method of attack, which is not any different from the one applied by Boko Haram insurgents, includes cutting open the stomach, beheading, slitting the throat, suicide bombing, surrounding villages and opening fire on them while asleep, etc."

Restructuring: Implement Confab Report Now - Jonathan Advises Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2018, 08:27 PM - No Replies

Former leader, Goodluck Jonathan has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the 2015 National Confab report, adding that it was the key to solving the many challenges plaguing the country.

Speaking to Governor Seriake Dickson who led a delegation to brief the ex-president on work being done by a committee set up by Ijaw leaders on restructuring, at his residence in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, Jonathan pointed out that many of the current issues which fall under the purview of the committee were exhaustively treated during the 2014 National Conference which when sincerely implemented would douse tension in the polity.

He said it was a good idea that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was able to set up a committee to look into the same grey areas which featured prominently in the deliberations of the 2014 Conference.

It will be recalled that in the first quarter of 2014, Jonathan inaugurated a 492-member body headed by Justice Idris Kutigi, which after about four months, submitted its report on which the majority agreed on several issues affecting the country.

Once queried on why he did not implement the report, Jonathan disclosed that the time when the report was turned in and the 2015 election was too short to do execute anything. He said;

“I am pleased with the calibre of people who came with the governor to brief me on the issue of the recommendations of the APC Committee on restructuring.

I must say that I am happy with the role being played by the governor on this issue of restructuring. Ethnic nationalities must not speak with discordant tunes on such pertinent issues. I am pleased that Dickson is coordinating the Ijaw nation.

I am also pleased that the APC set up a committee to look into the grey areas to come up with these recommendations. When we were in government, we came up with a confab and several issues were addressed which if sincerely implemented would encourage relationship in the country.

A sincere implementation of the recommendations on these grey areas will make the country to move forward".

Obasanjo: Buhari Ignored Federal Character In Security Chiefs’ Appointments
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2018, 08:13 PM - No Replies

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has berated the National Assembly and the Federal Character Commission for failing to check the excesses of President Muhammadu Buhari in the uneven distribution of public offices.
Obasanjo also said his recent open letter to President Buhari was not borne out malice or ‘bad belle’ but out of his deep concern for the situation in the country.
He said this on Thursday at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oke Ilewo area of Abeokuta, shortly after the Coalition for Nigeria Movement was inaugurated in Ogun State, and he was registered as a member of the movement.
The former President, who was flanked by a former Military Administrator of old Ondo State, Gen. Ekundayo Opaleye and a former Minister of State for Defence, Mrs. Dupe Adelaja, said the ethos of nation building through even distribution of public offices had been abused.
He said, “Let me emphasise important areas, programmes, priorities or processes for improved attention. To start with, we seem to have taken nation building for granted. Nation building must be given continued attention to give every citizen a feeling of belonging and a stake in his or her country.
“For instance, the Federal Character principle, as espoused in our constitution, was to guide the leadership to search for competent holders of major offices to be distributed within the entire nation, and avoid concentration in a few ethnic hands or geographical places, as we currently have in the leadership of our security apparatus.
“To avoid such non-integrative situation, we have the National Assembly and the Federal Character Commission, both institutions which must raise the alarm or call for correction of actions by the executive that violates the spirit of our constitution.”
Obasanjo’s registration came almost 24 hours after the CNM was inaugurated in Abuja.
Obasanjo arrived the venue at exactly 12.44pm in company with dignitaries including former governors of Cross River and Osun states, Donald Duke and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The former President, while addressing scores of potential members who had gathered at the venue, said he was surprised that many Nigerians were worried that he exchanged pleasantries with President Buhari at the African Unity summit in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, few days after he wrote the open letter to the President.
Obasanjo said, “Last week, I issued a statement which I did not do lightly or frivolously but out of deep concern for the situation of our country.
“I wonder why some Nigerians were worried why I had to pay respect to the Nigerian President at Addis Ababa. That’s my own upbringing as a well born and bred Yoruba boy.
“That doesn’t mean that what I have said about the President, was said out of bitterness and hatred. It is evident that the President has performed, in some areas, good enough.
“In other areas not good and a proper advice was given which he may take and he may not take.
“I didn’t do that out of malice or out of ‘bad belle.’ I did it out of my respect for that office and my interest, and I hope, in your interest and the interest of Buhari in Nigeria.
“I went to him just before the beginning of the opening of the AU summit. I had gone round to greet some few other Presidents, should I ignore him? So, I went to my President, greeted him and we joked before General Abdulsalami (Abubakar) said we should have a group photograph.
“I had wanted him (Buhari) to stand in the middle before he said I am the most senior and the photograph went viral on the social media.”
Obasanjo, while justifying the need for the CNM, argued that if all the instruments the country had used in the quest for nation building and governance since independence had failed, it was imperative to try new ways.
He said, “If what we have tried in the past has not taken us to the Promised Land, we have to try something else and something else is this grassroots popular movement built from the bottom-up to lead us, I hope and pray, to the Promised Land.”
He, however, warned that if the movement “decides to transform itself and go into partisan politics, I will cease to be a member.”
Obasanjo further said the spate of violence, and other forms of criminality had not received sufficient proactive ameliorative responses through transformational leadership.
He said the youth and women would be carried along, as “they must be part and parcel of governance in this country.”
Obasanjo, who urged Nigerians to go online and register as members, said the CNM currently had no link with other movements.
But he, however, said “if there are people of like minds, people who share the views and the aims and objectives of the Coalition for Nigeria Movement who want to join this movement, we will not object, we will welcome them.”
He said the movement did not regard itself as a third force, but “it sees itself as a popular movement that can accommodate all Nigerians irrespective of their political interest or affiliations and will propel Nigeria forward.”
Obasanjo added, “This is the new message in town, the new dance in town, the ceremony in town and I will appeal to you to join this ceremony and dance in town.
“There may be many masquerades and those of you who had my own type of background, when we were growing up, we were playing masquerades too but those were small masquerades, but when big masquerades come out, the small masquerades must go.”
Obasanjo later led the gathering to sing a chorus titled, ‘I see a new Nigeria, in the hands of God.’
Others at the event included a former deputy governor in Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, a two-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Isiaka and some other politicians in the state.

Nigeria Records Growth In International Passenger Traffic
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2018, 07:34 PM - No Replies

Growth in Nigeria’s international passenger returned in 2017 according to a report released by IATA. This growth in Nigeria is attributed to the rise in oil prices. African airlines recorded a traffic rise of 7.5% compared to 2016. This means that capacity rose at less than half the rate of demand (3.6%) and load factor jumped 2.5 percentage points to 70.3% in 2017
IATA’s Director General and CEO, Alexandre de Juniac said, “2017 got off to a very strong start and largely stayed that way throughout the year, sustained by a broad-based pick-up in economic conditions. While the underlying economic outlook remains supportive in 2018, rising cost inputs, most notably fuel, suggest we are unlikely to see the same degree of demand stimulation from lower fares that occurred in the first part of 2017”
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results of which showed that for 2017 demand (revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) for 2017 rose by 7.6% compared to 2016. This was well above the 10-year average annual growth rate of 5.5%. The rate of demand growth, on the other hand, slowed to 6.2% in December 2017, compared to December 2016, this largely was owing to less favorable comparisons to the even stronger growth trend seen in the year-ago period. Full-year 2017 capacity rose 6.3%, and load factor climbed 0.9 percentage point to a record calendar-year high of 81.4%.
Asia-Pacific carriers posted annual demand growth of 9.4%, compared to 2016, driven by robust regional economic expansion and an increase in route options for travelers. This was the first time since 1994 that Asia-Pacific led all the regions in annual growth rate. Capacity rose 7.9%, and load factor climbed 1.1 percentage points to 79.6%.
European carriers’ international traffic climbed 8.2% in 2017 compared to the previous year, underpinned by buoyant economic conditions in the region. Capacity rose 6.1% and load factor surged 1.6 percentage points to 84.4%, which was the highest for any region.
Middle East carriers’ traffic increased 6.6% last year. The region was the only one to see a slowdown in annual growth compared to 2016, and the region’s share of global traffic (9.5%) fell for the first time in 20 years. The market segment to/from North America was hit the hardest owing to factors including the temporary ban on large portable electronic devices in the aircraft cabin as well as the proposed US travel bans affecting some countries in the region. Capacity climbed 6.4% and load factor rose 0.1 percentage point to 74.7%.
North American airlines had their fastest demand growth since 2011, with full year traffic rising 4.8% compared to 2016. Capacity climbed 4.5%, and load factor edged up 0.3 percentage point to 81.7%. The comparatively robust economic backdrop supported outbound passenger demand. This was somewhat offset by a slowdown in inbound travel partly attributable to the new immigration and security restrictions put in place for travel to the US, as well as the extreme weather events that hit the US later in the year.
Latin American airlines’ traffic climbed 9.3% in 2017, the fastest rate since 2011. However, the upward trend weakened towards the end of the year, partly owing to disruption caused by the severe 2017 hurricane season that also hurt travel to the US. Capacity rose 8.0% and load factor increased 1.0 percentage point to 82.1%, second highest among the regions. http://nigeriatravelsmart.com/nigeria-re...r-traffic/

The 7 Strong Candidates That Are Ready To Take Over From President Buhari
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-02-2018, 04:33 PM - No Replies

Quote:Some eminent politicians especially from the north have indicated interest to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Here is a list of seven Nigerians who have indicated interest to contest in the upcoming 2019 Presidential election and possible dislodge President Muhammadu Buhari from his current position.
Here are seven of those according to Pulse report.

1. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

Pulse attended a ‘Kwankwasiyya’ event in Lagos last year where this former Governor of Kano State made it clear he’ll be throwing his red cap into the presidential ring one more time.
Kwankwaso has been weighing his options as it pertains to which political party to pitch tent with. At the moment, he remains an unsettled member of the governing APC.
He has also been building his grassroot Kwankwasiyya political movement across the States with renewed vigour.
Expect Kwankwaso’s presidential declaration soonest.

2. Ibrahim Dankwambo

That Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, is being readied for a presidential run by the northern elite, is perhaps the worst kept secret in the land.
Pundits have also scored him high on governance in his State.
Dankwambo has been dropping sufficient hints to suggest he’s seriously considering a run.
At just 55 years of age, his ‘youth’ appeal sits pretty well with a few folks and kingmakers.

3. Sule Lamido

Former Jigawa Governor Lamido has told everyone who cares to listen that he’ll be Nigeria’s next president, although it doesn’t help his cause that the EFCC has been haunting him and his sons for a while now.
Lamido has been traveling the country to set up campaign offices as he readies self for the big announcement.

4. Pastor Tunde Bakare

He wouldn’t say what year God has told him to run, but he’s commenced his campaign already, dropping God’s name at every opportunity.
Blessed with an oratorical prowess, Bakare has been aiming darts at his friend President Buhari, time and again; while setting out his campaign stall pretty nicely, one television appearance at a time.

5. Atiku Abubakar

He dumped the APC for the PDP because he wants to be president so bad.
Atiku’s presidential declaration is now only a matter of when.
Nigeria’s former Vice President has been holding consultative talks daily while assembling a campaign structure to do the business.
Expect his formal declaration before the end of first quarter of 2018.

6. Fela Durotoye

A sweet talking motivational speaker with sartorial flair to boot, Durotoye has already announced his desire to be president of Nigeria if the “powers that be” let him.
He’s got his work cut out, though.

7. Donald Duke

Gave a good account of himself as Governor of Cross River State from 1999 to 2007.
His biggest handicap could be the lack of a political structure, base and platform to call his own.
Duke looks the part and fits into the prototype of a modern day, urbane presidential candidate. However, good looks don’t win you the presidency in Nigeria.
It’s almost as though he went to sleep after the PDP denied him the presidency in 2007.

Who do you think has what it takes to win the Election?
