Quote:The management of Air Peace has confirmed report by the governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose that cows took over the Akure airport runway on Saturday.

The management speaking to Vanguard on phone said that flight P4 7002 from Lagos had to delay landing into Akure Airport today (Saturday) when the pilot-in-command sighted cows on the runway at about 12.15pm.

On being alerted by control tower, aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN AVSEC) quickly intervened and cleared the runway. The flight was eventually cleared to land after about seven minutes. Our guests on board were all calm while the delay lasted. The aircraft departed for Lagos at about 1.06 with full escort from FAAN security personnel. [17/02, 17:32] Confirming the incident, Air Peace Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah said: “We confirm that flight P4 7002 from Lagos had to delay landing into Akure Airport today (Saturday) when the pilot-in-command sighted cows on the runway at about 12.15pm. “On being alerted by control tower, aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN AVSEC) quickly intervened and cleared the runway. “The flight was eventually cleared to land after about seven minutes.   Plane Forced To Make Emergency Landing After Passenger Refused To Stop Farting (
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 02-18-2018, 01:29 PM - No Replies

A Dutch pilot was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger's refusal to stop farting sparked a mid-air fight.

Transavia Airlines flight HV6902 was headed to Amsterdam from Dubai when the pilot brought the plane down in Vienna, telling authorities the passengers were on a rampage, Mirror.co.uk reports.

The source of the anger was an elderly man who was noisily passing wind and refused to stop when disturbed passengers asked him to.

Even the pilot became involved and asked the man to restrain himself but he refused.

A fight then broke out, forcing the pilot to land the plane and have the assailants removed from the plane.

Four people who were seated near the man were escorted from the plane in Austria.

One of the removed passengers, 25-year-old Nora Lachhab told De Telegraaf the crew didn't do much to ease the situation.

"It was crazy that we were included, we had no idea who these boys were, we just had the bad luck to be in the same row and we didn't do anything," she said.
"All I will say is that the crew were really provocative and stirred things up."

Former Jonathan’s Aide, Ahmed Gulak Decamps To APC
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-18-2018, 01:26 PM - No Replies

A former presidential aide from Adamawa State on Saturday officially decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ahmed Gulak, who was political adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, and later tried unsuccessfully to become PDP’s national chairman, said he was leading “42,000” people to the ruling APC.

He said they were “forced to leave PDP” by “impunity and lack of internal democracy”.
“Members of the PDP numbering 42,000 across the 21 local government areas including party executives have today wished to formally dump PDP and join APC officially.

‘’With this development, we formally bury PDP in Adamawa state,” he said.
“Though we are not like others, who kept decamping when their dreams and ambitions were not met.
“Constitutionally we have the right to leave and join any other party. Former President Obasanjo had earlier left PDP and tore his party membership card.

“So also former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; it could be recalled had first left PDP and joined AC that later metamorphosed to ACN. From ACN, Atiku returned back to PDP that he first left and before you know the former vice president again cross-carpeted to APC and now left to PDP again.

“So everyone has right to change if they feel disenchanted and we have made consultations with our people who asked us to move to APC.

He said the government’s “degrading of Boko Haram terrorists” was enough to justify the defection.
Salihu Mustapha, APC North-East chairman, said the decamping was a result of the good work of the APC administration.
“All federal roads have been awarded for rehabilitation while some have reached concluding state of bidding for awarding by federal government,” said he.

Reacting, the state PDP chairman of the party, Tahir Shehu, said their defection would be a big relief to the PDP, saying, “most of them were lured by Governor Jibrilla Bindow for juicy position while others have skeleton in their cupboards, and they were afraid of EFCC’s hammer.”

Celebrated Citizen TV news anchor Swaleh Mdoe puts up his kidney for sale
Celebrated Citizen TV Swahili anchor Swaleh Mdoe has put his kidney for sell. Mdoe said the decision to sell the organ was necessitated by pressing financial problems
- The famed anchor said he consulted a doctor who gave him the nod to sell the kidney
Veteran Citizen TV news anchor Swaleh Mdoe has surprised everyone after revealing that he is planning to sell one of his kidneys.
While he did not divulge further on the particulars of the emergency, the “Babu yangu” host said he had reached the decision after consultations from his doctor.
“I have decided to sell one of my kidneys after consulting one of my doctors on the matter. I have some pressing financial issues that I want to offset and all I can think of right now is selling my kidney,” He was quoted by Nairobian.
To further solidfy intentions, Swaleh Mdoe went a step further by publicizing his personal phone number for any suitable candidate to contact him.
Many would be forgiven to wonder why the veteran Swahili anchor would decide to resort to selling a body organ, given his reputable job and networks.
But according to him, he did not intend to “bother” anyone with his situation, hence the decision to sell one of his kidneys.

Buhari's Government Is Sabotaging The Fight Against Corruption - Falana
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-18-2018, 01:18 PM - No Replies

@POLITICSNGR

Foremost Human rights lawyer, Chief Femi Falana has said that the fight against corruption in Nigeria is being sabotaged by officials appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Falana disclosed that the anti-corruption movement is being marred by the appointments of corrupt individuals in public offices.

He told Thisday;

"No doubt, the Buhari administration declared a war on corruption. But the regime is currently sabotaging the war through the questionable reinstatement of highly corrupt public officers. Apart from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, other anti-graft agencies have been tactically castrated by the Senate which has refused to confirm the members of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and Code of Conduct Bureau. The national assembly has also failed to pass the bills for the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Court, Whistle Blowing Bill, Proceed of Crime Bill etc.

The Buhari regime has not mobilized and involved the Nigerian people in the fight against corruption. Hence the people have not joined issues with the legislators on the refusal to pass the necessary bills to fight corruption. By reinstating and retaining corrupt public officers the regime is encouraging corruption to fight back. The APC controls the majority of the members of the national assembly. Yet the assembly is dedicated to the frustration of the war against corruption.  Out of the 21 states controlled by the APC, only Kano state has an anti-corruption agency."

JAMB Uncovers Another N83M Fraud In Kano, Edo, Kogi, Gombe And Plateau States
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-18-2018, 01:16 PM - No Replies

Fresh fraud cases have been uncovered in offices of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, totalling N83m in Kano, Edo, Kogi, Gombe and Plateau states.

According to a report by Punch, while the board was investigating N31m misappropriated revenue in Edo and N20m in Kano, it was quizzing officials in Plateau and Gombe over N15m and N10m mismanaged in the states respectively. Also, it was learnt that the examination board was investigating the misappropriation of N7m in its office in Kogi State.

Fabian Benjamin, spokesman of JAMB, who confirmed the figures on Friday, said the board would be diligent in its investigations and would not tolerate corrupt practices from any of its officials. “We will monitor with careful scrutiny how workers handled public funds. We are trying to block all leakages and loopholes,” he said. The medium quoted a source as saying that all the workers of the board found to have been involved in corrupt activities being investigated had been suspended while investigations were ongoing.

“What happened was that we had a panel session in Abuja and most of the state coordinators could not account for how some monies were spent or remitted. The coordinator of Kano State could not account for N20m, while the Edo (office) could not account for N31m. In Plateau State, we are looking at N15m. For Kogi State, we have about N7m that is a source of contention while Gombe office has N10m that is also a source of contention. You can then sum it up and know how much corruption ate deep into some officials. The registrar is frank and thorough about the investigations and he has warned to transfer some of the cases to the police and to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.”

A case of N36m allegedly misappropriated by a clerk at the JAMB office in Makurdi, Benue State, Philomena Chieshe, was recently reported by the media. It was reported that Chieshe had claimed in her statement that a mystery snake sneaked into the accounts office and swallowed the cash. Also, another JAMB worker in Nasarawa State, Labaran Tanko, was reported on Wednesday to be undergoing investigation over a suspected fraud involving N26m.

Tanko had claimed that the N26m, which was the worth of unsold Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination scratch cards, got burnt in his car during an accident while he was on his way to remit the cards at the JAMB office in Abuja. Both Chieshe and Tanko are still under investigation.

Rhapsody of Realities

He Brings You Into Your Inheritance.

Sunday, February 18th .

Pastor Chris

_*Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).*_

In Exodus 23:23, God promised to give the children of Israel the lands belonging to the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. The inhabitants of these lands were giants, armed and trained in war. They obviously were physically stronger and more intimidating than the Israelites. Their cities were fortified. How will Israel take possession of the lands and make God’s promise a reality? It was going to be by the Holy Ghost.

God had said to them, _*“For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off”*_ (Exodus 23:23). Notice He didn’t say His angel shall bring them into the land, but that He’d bring them to the enemies: the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites. He was going to cause the Israelites to collide with their enemies.

Never be afraid when you have to collide with opposing forces; they’re bread for you. God always causes you to collide with them when He wants to give you what they’ve occupied so long that doesn’t belong to them. The reason is simple: you’re the seed of Abraham. The Holy Spirit came to live in us for a purpose, to make us champions, and to bring us into our inheritance. Until you know Him, you’ll not walk in your inheritance! You’d live an ordinary life.

However, when you know the Holy Spirit, you become an active participant in the divine nature; you play your part in the divine experience! Nothing and no one is able to cheat you out of God’s best! You’re confident in the word! You know, and live in your divine inheritance. 1 Corinthians 2:12 says, _*“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”*_

The Holy Ghost knows the things that are freely given to us of God. You don’t have to struggle for them. He shows you those things; He brings them to your knowledge, and your understanding, so you can speak them, because with your mouth, you bring them into the material world from the realm of the Spirit. Your affirmation of the Word makes it real in your life.

*PRAYER*

*Precious Holy Spirit, I acknowledge your presence in my life. You’re the Shepherd of my soul; the One who guides me in the perfect will of God. Thank you for bringing me into my glorious inheritance in Christ Jesus. By you, I possess and enjoy my inheritance today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 Corinthians 2:12-13* Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. *||*

*||* *Acts 20:32* And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. *||*

I affirm that I am a walking in the supernatural and my life is characterized with results. There's no emergency or accident in my path because my path is paved by the Spirit of God. I am in fellowship and oneness with the Father and He has imparted into my spirit His life and nature! This gives me the ability to think, act, and live as the effulgence of His glory and His perfect representation here on earth. Hallelujah! Christ is formed in me, and as I stay my mind continually on the Word, the supernatural becomes my daily experience. I am an offspring of the Word; therefore, I choose not to be distracted but give myself wholly to the Word. In the Name of Jesus, I am set on the course in which I must follow; thus, victory, peace, success, prosperity, accuracy, joy, divine health and all that the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ had consummated are evident in my life. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

"Ghosts Have Sex With Women Who Sleep Unclad, Making Them Barren" - Witchdoctor
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-17-2018, 08:54 AM - No Replies

KINGSLEY IWU

A Kenyan Witchdoctor, Ali Maalim Bakari a.k.a Mganga wa Nyuki has said that women who sleep Unclad are in high risk of becoming barren in Life.

The witchdoctor disclosed to Nairobian that he has involved in the business for the past 10 years.

“Many people don’t know that sleeping Unclad especially for women is not safe. That is how ghosts show up at night and have sex with some ladies making them barren. These women lack sex appetite. I always advise women to wear something, even a panty alone,“ he said.

“For instance, when a client complains of poor performance in bed, I urge them to spice up their bedroom game and also check on diet. Further, women should not throw their pads aimlessly, since that is what people use to block their uterus,” he said.

He also disclosed he inherited his powers from his late dad and made a secret oath that requested the slaughter of two cocks.

“I inherited this gift from my late father. It is a normal thing to pass this gift to your kids. In our case, we are three sons in our family, but my brother refused and I took over. RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 17TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ KNOWLEDGE ACTIVATES THE POWER OF THE WORD.✨

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).

Spiritual truths are activated by knowledge. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “…his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” Proverbs 11:9 says through knowledge—revelation knowledge—shall the just be delivered.

As you study and meditate on the Word, not only will you discover your inheritance in Christ, you’ll also receive the faith to relate with and enjoy all that God has made available to you in Christ Jesus. The Word is truth, and it has the capacity and ability to make you a success, build you up like a solid edifice, and keep you in health.

It doesn’t matter who you are, or how severe or hopeless you might think the case is, nothing is impossible to the one who lives by the truth of God’s Word. Life is an unending stream of blessings, excitement, success, and victories for the one who understands and applies the principles of God’s Word. The Word is able to change your life and to change you completely from failure to success. However, you must know the Word. If you don’t know the Word, you can’t work the Word.

That’s why we teach and preach the truth of God’s Word, because when we talk about the blessings that belong to us in Christ and people become aware of the blessings, they’ll start walking in the blessings. Through knowledge, they’re able to appropriate the blessings in their personal lives.

For example, many people know about healing, but most haven’t been taught how to walk in divine health; so when we preach divine health, they hear about it and get to know that divine health is theirs. That knowledge will impart faith to their spirits and activate the power of the Word in their lives to walk in divine health.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for giving me the Holy Ghost to teach and reveal the truth of your Word to me. The Word is working in me right now, producing life in me. I’m like a tree by the stream, ever luscious and green, prospering in everything and everywhere, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

Proverbs 23:3-4 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they [are] deceitful meat. 4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Buhari Commissions Air Force Drone Jonathan ‘Earlier Launched’ - PDP
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-16-2018, 06:40 PM - No Replies

President Muhammadu Buhari’s launch of surveillance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV, produced locally by the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology is already generating controversy over the claim that it is the first indigenous UAV, whereas former president, Goodluck Jonathan was said to have launched the same invention in December, 2013.

Buhari, had while inducting the unmanned aerial vehicle christened TSAIGUMI, in Kaduna, on Thursday, said, “It is a pleasure to be here with you all for the induction of the Nigerian Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, ‘TSAIGUMI’, Nigeria’s first indigenously developed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. The significance of this accomplishment as a milestone of national technological development cannot be over-estimated”.

Since the news broke, there have been speculations that TSAIGUMI is the same UAV which the then president Jonathan commissioned in 2013.

DAILY POST had on December 18, 2013 reported that Jonathan in Kaduna unveiled the first Nigerian made unmanned aerial vehicle, UAV, named GULMA which was built by the Nigerian Air Force in Kaduna.

In his speech at the unveiling ceremony, Jonathan said at the time that as Nigeria continues to witness breakthrough in technology at various sectors, it was imperative to appreciate the fact that Nigeria has potential to do great things, charging Nigerians to continue to explore all available areas that could take the country to greatness.

The PDP in its reaction described the commissioning as a shameful act as its National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan wrote on Twitter, “It’s a shame that same project former President GEJ commissioned in Dec 17th 2013 is the same project (first unmanned drone ) that Buhari is recommissioning and the @APCNigeria apologists are celebrating this Shameful act.”

Clarifying the issue under contention regarding the drone, the spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, AVM Olatokunbo Adesanya told DAILY POST on Friday that the UAV commissioned yesterday by Buhari is the first indigenous operational drone.

According to him, “The other one was not operational. It was a prototype. It was not prepared to conduct any operation. This one built on the earlier one and it is a much more improved version. This is a much more improved version of the other one. This one has mixed characteristics… with so many other things.”

Customs Seizes Range Rover & Other Cars In Ogun (Photos)
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-16-2018, 06:37 PM - No Replies

I keep wondering why a Nigerian will bring out more than N49m to buy a car and will refuse to pay custom duty. This is outrageous and I propose that any car seized because of this should be impounded forever.

In a press statement released on Friday, the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS announced some major breakthrough in its operations carried out by its men in the Idiroko axis of the Ogun area command with a series of seizures including luxury cars, rice, vegetable oil and other smuggled items.

See the press release below:
***********************

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Idiroko Axis of Ogun Area Command at this propitious time when we have set the ball rolling in our quest to mitigate the menace of smuggling to the best of our ability.

On the 7th February, 2018 between 0800-0900hours while on routine patrol along Ibeji River arroud – Idogo – Ifoyintedo axis of the Command, my Officers intercepted a Toyota Highlander (2014) suspected to have been smuggled into Nigeria. In the process, an Officer received a life threatening injury from smugglers on his arm and fingers, although he is responding to treatment. Full scale investigation is ongoing to ensure that such mindless, irresponsible and unpatriotic criminals are brought to book to face the full wrath of the law.

However, Officers will continue to exercise their functions in line with the rules of engagement with caution, but will respond appropriately on armed smugglers and economic saboteurs in a life threatening encounter.

The above event is pointer to the fact that the media, traditional rulers and eminent personalities should play a greater role in exposing the grave danger Customs Officers face in the discharge of their duties, especially in Ogun state and also to discourage the activities of their wards that indulge in smuggling and perceive such as a legitimate way of livelihood.

It is pertinent to inform you that, within the last two weeks, we have sustained the tempo promised in our anti smuggling drive. During the period under review, the tireless efforts by the Officers and Men of the Command yielded a total, 13 Tokunbo vehicles, 12 means of conveyance, 21 motorcycles, 1, 168 bags of foreign rice (50 kg each), 221 kegs of vegetable oil (25liters each), 5 sacks secondhand shoes and 2 sacks of secondhand bags with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N153, 858, 579, 153.00. at Idiroko axis of Ogun Area Command. Most spectacular among the seizures is a brand new Range Rover (velar) 2018 model seized and tagged “the seizure of the month”. The said vehicle has a DPV of N51, 285, 154.

Finally, despite the aforementioned event and given the tottering nature of the operational environment, we will not relent, we will continue to stand firm and resolute in discharging the statutory responsibilities bestowed upon us as a Service with dedication, selflessness and uncompromising commitment.

Thank you.

MAIWADA, A.A.

Why We Can’t Deliver On Our Promises – Osinbajo
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-16-2018, 06:21 PM - No Replies

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, blamed government’s inability to deliver on its promises on socio-political inequality, weak justice system, absence of rule of law and lack of state capacity to maintain law and order.

He also expressed frustrations at the inability of anti-graft agencies to secure convictions for the many suspects brought before the courts for corruption due to the manipulative tendencies of the elite class. Osinbajo spoke as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Fr. Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, said the problems plaguing the nation’s democracy will not disappear with the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

The duo made their separate remarks at a public lecture organised by The Kukah Centre in Abuja yesterday, with the theme: “How to make Democracy Work for Africa.” Osinbajo, who noted that people expected those charged with governance to deliver on their promises, including delivering social goods, ensuring that the growing youth population got jobs, ensuring the rule of law and security, lamented that despite several suspects charged with corruption by anti-graft agencies in the country, convictions are yet to be secured.

According to him, convictions have not been achieved due to the manipulation of suspects who are mainly elites. Osinbajo said people could be put on trial but the trials could go on forever because the system enables people to employ diverse legal tactics to delay conviction.

Accordingly, he said the elite preferred the status quo which set the lowest bar for political advancement, being “identity politics” of where one comes from or which religion one belongs. He said the elite follow the path of such division to analyse real development issues, thus diminishing the real issues concerning the people such as good governance, job creation, poverty alleviation, peace and security.

The African problem The Vice President said: “That is the Africa story; democracy, yes; election yes. These are issues that remain very prominent everywhere in Africa. “It is often threatened because we simply have not invested enough in the institutions that make this possible. So, ensuring security, problems of weak policing are some of the issues that we experience.

“The perception of people on the efficiency and fairness of the justice system is affected always by the slow pace of trials and manipulation of the system by those who can afford superior legal representation. “Many of the ethnic and other parochial tensions that tended to create insecurity and outright conflict, time and time again, are largely on account of failure to deliberately undertake nation-building efforts.

“But the question of the capacity of the state to deliver on its most important role of security, justice and rule of law is often threatened because we have not invested enough in institutions that make it possible,” Osinbajo said. Buhari’s exit not the solution — Kukah In his remarks, Bishop Mathew Kukah, said the problems plaguing the nation’s democracy will not disappear with the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

According to him, establishing a ‘Third Force’ coalition to merely produce a replacement for President Buhari in 2019 will not fix the inefficiencies of government unless the entire political class see power as a trust given to them by the people. Kukah said: “Since 1999, when we returned to democracy, we had prayerfully hoped that by now, we would have covered a lot of mileage but almost 20 years later, it seems to be quite a bit of tragedy.

“Building a nation is like staying in marriage or pursuing any vocation in life that requires lots and lots of patience and hard work. “On the issue of 2019 and the third force coalition, I reiterate that if every time you have problem in your marriage, you go ahead to marry a new wife, how many wives will you end up marrying? “The solution to bad marriage is not a new marriage. I am talking as a Catholic priest.

The problem with the APC is that it is a coalition and that is why it is falling apart. “The major limitation in Nigeria is that the people in power feel it is them against the rest of Nigerians. Democracy has opened up a space, and as such, anybody who holds power holds that power in custody and in trust for the people. “People’s right across our country are frustrated with democracy; they are frustrated because it has not been able to offer them the hope they had dreamt about. But we still have to convince our people that it is still probable for democracy to work.

“Nations of the world have tried theocracy, which is the government by Priests or Imams and have found those systems wanting. They have tried tyranny, apartheid and so on. At the end, everybody has agreed that democracy is the best system that approximates the tool we require to manage diversity, especially for a country like Nigeria. “Democracy is not what politicians can offer to us, it is not what the President can give to us, and it is not what governors or senators can do on part time basis. Democracy is a process which each and every one of us imbibe, adopt certain ingredients that regulate our lives.”

Ortom Presents Documents To Indict Presidency, Defence Minister, IGP

Quote:Herdsmen killings: Ortom presents documents to indict Presidency, Defence Minister, IGP

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, on Wednesday, gave startling revelations to the Senate when he informed the lawmakers that the Presidency ignored several warnings before the mass killing of his people by herdsmen.

The governor said this when he appeared before the joint Senate Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence.

He showed the lawmakers copies of his letters to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the security chiefs before and after the crisis began.

“Over 100 people killed in Benue would not have died if security agencies were responsive. None of the letters (to the Presidency) was replied,” he stated.

“The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, attributed the Benue killings to blockade of grazing routes and implementation of ranching law.

“His position is misleading and dishonest. We hope that his position is not that of the Federal Government,” he said.

The governor recalled that President Buhari directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to relocate to Benue but that ”he spent a night in Lafia before coming to Benue.”

Ortom said, “His PRO (Jimoh Moshood) insulted me on a public television programme that ‘the Governor of Benue State is a drowning man.’ IGP has not apologised and has not removed the FPRO.

“Miyetti Allah Cattle Herders Association boldly announced, ‘Expect more blood to flow in Benue State,’ and more blood is flowing, yet the IGP has not arrested or questioned them.

“Nigerians clearly know the side the IGP stands on. He is not on the side of justice and should resign.”

Ortom, who denied that he was sponsoring a militia group, recalled that before the anti-open grazing law was implemented, herders were given a six-month grace to establish ranches.

“I am glad you have named some of the aspirants who are interested in leading this nation. If you give them the ticket they will do nothing with it. They have nothing to offer to this nation. You and I are here because we believe in President Muhammadu Buhari and we know he has the capability to lead this nation. Buhari is a man with several qualities of leadership, God sent; his coming is divine, so that he will rescue this nation from the total collapse due to the destruction that has been done to the economy by the past administration.

“We all know that Buhari is transparent, honest. He has come with the change philosophy. He has lived for these to bring change to this nation. Since his military days, he stood to fight corruption, indiscipline. Many people fear him because he does not compromise corruption. And corrupt people are afraid that they will be brought to book. And those who have already looted the treasury of this nation are followed by the security agencies. By the grace of God Buhari will not relent in this fight.

“He will continue. The politics of this nation is no more the politics of money or do or die politics. Anybody who wants to lead this nation must sacrifices. Buhari has already transformed and changed the image of leadership and that of our leaders this country both locally and internationally,” Mustapha said.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Kassim made it known that his team was ready, committed and dedicated to work for President Buhari to be reinstalled in 2019.

“We felt there is a need for us to mobilize for President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 reelection. We know the roll we played when President Muhammadu was away for medical checkup. A lot of people said Buhari will not come back but we kept the hope alive because many lost hope. We have mobilized for a rally in support of Buhari.

“We are calling on Buhari to come out and make a public statement to run in 2019. If this does not happen between now and Monday, we will be forced to go to court and invite him to come and make a public statement. Some of our leaders are misleading the youths in Nigeria that power should be given to the youths. We are not in a hurry, all what we are asking for is that our leaders should involve us in the system; all those who wants to contest in other parties are older than Buhari.”

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted sacks of elephant tusks and pangolin shells in a warehouse at No. 38, Ogundana Street, Off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, with a combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N493.5 million. .
The unit also arrested a Chinese suspect, Mr. Ko Sin Ying, in connection with the items whose export breaches international protocols and conventions. .

Comptroller, Mohammed Uba Garba yesterday said the seizures comprised 55 sacks of pangolin shells weighing 2001kg and valued at N408.32 million, and 218 pieces of elephant tusk weighing 343kg and valued at N85.2 million. .

He disclosed that the team, acting on intelligence, had mounted surveillance on the area and on a tip-off, raided the apartment where the security confirmed the occupant to be a Chinese national, Mr. Ko Sin Ying.

Garba noted that the export of such endangered species of animals like elephant and pangolin breaches international protocols and conventions. .

“It further prevents the killings of endangered species since the tusks are only available after the killing of the elephant or pangolin,” he said

Virgin Ifu Ennada Saw Bitto's Manhood, See Her Reaction On BBNaija

Ifu Ennada reacts after she saw Bitto's "huge"
manhood Lol,
See video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAbvPB2gVuM

The Big Brother Naija reality TV show is on its 18th day and the drama seems to be getting intense by the day. One of the housemates Ifu Ennada stumbled on Bitto while he was undressing and she had a peek of his joystick.

In her reaction to the sight, she screamed. But it i surprising that she paused for a while before retracing her steps and not after she had exclaimed about what she saw

As it is their tradition in the house, indecency is not a new scenario as housemates sometimes show off all their glory even for the cameras to capture much to the delight of some viewers at home.

Bitto was not although captured by the camera as he seemed to be in an enclosed room. But from the way Ifu screamed, it was certain she saw something extremely massive.

She immediately screamed:.

Quote:" haaaaaaa see d**K oh,

Bitto in his reaction as heard from the video, was also startled as he noticed someone was closing up on him and before he could cover up or give the signal that he was Unclad, the intruder had already gotten to him.

Remember Ifu Ennada once mentioned in the house that she is a virgin. They were having a chat and the actress mentioned that she had never had sex in her life. The other housemates, who seemed confused about her statement asked her to expantiate, she then repeated the statement saying she has never had a real sexual intercourse with another man.

In her words:

Quote:“I have never had a sexual intercourse.. I’ve never had a d**k inside of me”.

In response to that, one of the housemates jokingly said “Can someone please f**k this girl right now”?

Well, we believe the dram in the Big Brother Naija house is just starting.

There is pandemonium at Ebonyi State University over one month power outage.

The students trooped out in mass to protest over the horrible power supply in the campus.

They blocked the road at ishieke junction which leads to the main campus which resulted to the total shut down of school activities. Our correspondent reports that police have arrested many students because of the protest after shooting sporadically.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY, 16TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ SAY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT✨

Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).

The Amplified Classic Version of the opening scripture says, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” The Lord expects us to make definite requests of Him. Say exactly what you want!

There’s no need for vain repetitions or superfluity of words. Some people are that way when they pray, but Jesus said, “…When ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking” (Matthew 6:7). Some make vague requests. For instance, someone might say, “Help me Lord; I can’t continue like this,” and thinks he or she has prayed, but that’s not a definite request.

You have to state precisely what help you want. Is it help with your finances, your health, job, or your family? Whatever it is, be specific and act on the Word. Our opening verse gives us two key elements of effectual prayers: definite requests and thanksgiving. In Mark 11:23, the Lord Jesus said, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Jesus didn’t tell us to speak to “mountains,” but to “this mountain,” teaching us to be definite in acting our faith. When you have a strong and definite desire for a change, make your faith proclamations accordingly, and begin to glorify God for the answers. Only when you’re specific in your requests are you able to effectively give thanks to God, because you know when they’re met.

It makes no difference what challenges you’re faced with; refuse to fret or doubt! Tell the Father what you want, and praise Him for the answer. He said ask and receive that your joy may be full (John 16:24).

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the power in the Name of Jesus, and the authority I have to use that Name to effect specific changes as I may desire. I’m sustained by the power and authority of that Name, living the higher life of glory that you prearranged for me. I walk in divine wisdom, in dealing with the circumstances and affairs of life, today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We Can’t Provide Information On Buhari’s Treatment – CBN

Why we can’t provide information on Buhari’s treatment – CBN

Quote:Posted By: Eric Ikhilae, Abuja

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, on Thursday explained why the apex bank cannot provide information on the funds used to defray the cost of President Muhammadu Buhari’s treatment in London.

He also explained why CBN cannot provide information on how much it cost the country to keep a presidential aircraft and crew for 103 days at the Stansted Airport in the United Kingdom while President Buhari’s medical treatment lasted.

Emefiele argued that it was not within the CBN’s immediate responsibilities to provide such information.

He spoke in a reaction to a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1142/2017 filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative (ASRADI) led by its Executive Director, Adeolu Oyinlola.

ASRADI said in the suit that the CBN and its Governor refused to honour its Freedom of Information request contained in a letter of October 19, 2017 for information on the amount released for Buhari’s medical treatment in London and the amount paid on behalf of the Nigerian government as parking fees for keeping the presidential aircraft and crew in the UK while the President’s treatment lasted.

In the suit, with the CBN, its Governor and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as respondents, ASRADI wants a declaration that the information the respondents provided it with through its letter of October 19, 2017 “amounted to a wrongful denial of information and is a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2011.”

It also seeks an order compelling the respondents to furnish it with information sought in the letter of October 19, 2017, and a further order, mandating the CBN and its Governor to pay the plaintiff N10million in damages “for the wilful refusal of the 1st and 2nd respondents to release information in respect of the applicant’s letter dated October 19, 2017.”

In a supporting affidavit, Oyinlola contended that it was within the responsibilities of the CBN and its Governor to provide the requested information because they “are responsible for all foreign currency transactions of the Nigerian government or transactions involving the Federal Government of Nigeria and foreign institutions as it concerns transfer of money outside the shores of Nigeria.”

But, in their counter affidavit filed on February 13 this year, the CBN and its Governor urged the court to reject the applicant’s prayers and dismiss the suit.

They equally urged the court to vacate an earlier ex-parte order granting leave to the applicant to apply for “a prerogative order of mandamus” compelling them to provide the requested information.

Hailemariam Desalegn Resigns As Ethiopia's Prime Minister
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 07:48 PM - No Replies

Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn announced Thursday he has submitted a resignation letter after the worst anti-government protests in a quarter-century, saying he hoped the surprise decision would help planned reforms succeed and create a "lasting peace."

"I want to be part of the solution," he said in remarks carried by the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation. "I believe that the public's demands and questions should be met and answered." It was not immediately clear whether lawmakers had accepted the resignation.

Ethiopia has been rocked by months of protests demanding wider freedoms that have left hundreds dead and tens of thousands detained. The government in recent weeks released more than 6,500 detained opposition figures, journalists and others after the prime minister in an unexpected announcement in January said he wanted to "widen the democratic space for all."

The protests have disrupted life and business in one of Africa's fastest-growing economies.

The 53-year-old prime minister said he will continue in his role until the "power transition is completed." He also seeks to unseat himself from the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front.

Jacob Zuma's Five Biggest Career Scandals
User Avatar Forum: Politics

[Image: f4a1770dc3947a8e11cb898c9ca326b38ef7c3b2.jpg]
South African President Jacob Zuma has resigned from office with immediate effect, ending a controversial and turbulent period in the country's political history.

South African President Jacob Zuma has resigned from office with immediate effect, ending a controversial and turbulent period in the country's political history.

Zuma, 75, has been in power since 2009 and faced numerous allegations of corruption.

Here are five of his biggest scandals:

Rape charges and HIV

Before taking office, Zuma was put on trial in 2006 for rape, in a case that dismayed many South Africans.

Zuma said the sex with the 31-year-old family friend was consensual and he was acquitted.

But he told the court he had showered to avoid contracting HIV after having unprotected sex with his HIV-positive accuser -- a common but dangerous myth.

Zuma was head of the South African National AIDS Council at the time, and was pilloried for his ignorance.

He is still mocked in newspaper cartoons, which often depict him with a shower nozzle sprouting from his bald head.

Nearly a fifth of South Africans aged between 15 and 49 are HIV-positive.

Nkandla costs

Zuma was found by the country's graft watchdog in 2014 to have "benefited unduly" from so-called security upgrades to his rural Nkandla residence in KwaZulu-Natal province. It said he should refund some of the money.

The work, paid for with taxpayers' money, cost $24 million (22 million euros) and included a swimming pool, which was described as a fire-fighting facility, a chicken run, a cattle enclosure, an amphitheatre and a visitors' centre.

For two years, Zuma fought the order to repay part of the money. The scandal came to dominate his presidency -- with opposition lawmakers chanting "Pay back the money!" every time he appeared in parliament.

In March 2016 he was ordered by the Constitutional Court to pay back the cash and suffered a stinging rebuke from the justices who accused him of failing to respect and uphold the constitution.

Guptagate

As the Nkandla debacle built to a climax, its place in the headlines was overtaken by a new scandal, known as Guptagate.

It involved the president's allegedly corrupt relationship with a wealthy family of Indian immigrants headed by three brothers -- Ajay, Atul and Rajesh Gupta -- who built a business empire in mining, media, technology and engineering.

Smouldering rumours of the family's undue influence on the president burst into flames in 2016 when evidence emerged they allegedly offered key government jobs to those who might help their business interests.

Ousted deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas revealed that the Guptas had offered him a promotion shortly before Zuma sacked respected finance minister Nhlanhla Nene in December 2015.

The opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) laid corruption charges against the Guptas and Zuma's son Duduzane.

Arms deal

In October 2017, after a marathon legal campaign by the DA party, the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that Zuma was liable for prosecution over almost 800 counts of corruption relating to a 1990s arms deal.

The accusations relate to a multi-billion-dollar arms deal signed in 1999, when Zuma was deputy president. He allegedly accepted bribes from international arms manufacturers to influence the choice of weaponry.

Zuma's advisor, Schabir Shaik, was jailed for 15 years in 2005. He was released on medical parole in 2009, the year Zuma became president.

After he leaves office, Zuma faces the risk of jail over 18 criminal charges over the 783 payments he received.

Omar al-Bashir

In March 2016 the South African Supreme Court of Appeal upheld a judgement that the failure by Zuma's government to arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was illegal.

Despite an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes in the conflict in Darfur, Bashir was allowed to attend a meeting of the African Union in Johannesburg in 2015.

The government said the fact that he was attending the summit as a head of state meant he had immunity, but the court disagreed.

Zuma escaped an impeachment attempt over the issue in parliament in September 2016, when ANC lawmakers voted overwhelmingly against it.

Condoms Sale Increases On Valentine Day By 70 Percent – NAN
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 07:44 PM - No Replies

b]BUSINESS – Base on report as Nigerians joined the rest of the world to celebrate St Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, a survey has indicated that was about 70 per cent increase in the sale of condoms and contraceptives purchased mainly by fun seekers.

A check by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) around Oyingbo, Yaba, Ikeja and University of Lagos (UNILAG) on the day shows that there was an increase in the sale of the materials for safe sex.

NAN reports that though there are many diverse historic stories surrounding how St Valentine’s Day came to existence, the most celebrated account is about a Roman priest beheaded in the third century.

The date is for the celebration of what many chose to call season of love is Feb. 14.

Arguably, no one can agree on exactly what he did or why he was executed but some legends say St. Valentine was a bishop in Terni, Italy.

He was said to have healed the sick, including the blind daughter of a prison guard whom he met while in jail for practicing Christianity in a pagan world.

Some say he was sentenced to death because he tried to convert Emperor Claudius to Christianity.

Others yet say the sentence came because he was caught secretly performing weddings, defying a ban on marriage that had been imposed by the Emperor as a solution to a military recruitment crunch.

The check by NAN on the supermarkets, chain stores and kiosks around Lagos showed that condom sales are on the increase with the sellers’ acknowledging the increase in their sales.

At Anifat Stores, Oyingbo road, there was about 80 per cent increase in the sale of condoms according to the shop owner, Mrs Anifat Adebiyi.

Adebiyi said that it was expected that there should be a major increase in the sale of condoms and contraceptives because there would always be an increase in sexual activities on such a day.

“We do have a sharp increase, and it is expected we have more sales during Valentine’s Days because that is the day many will want to express themselves.

“We are expecting more sales because many will still come to buy, but we don’t normally increase the price of the condoms.

“Condoms are in various qualities depending on the one the consumer may want to buy. It is a season everybody wants to show love through love making.

Another Kiosk owner at Oyingbo said that he was expecting his supplier to give him more quantities because he was almost out of sale.

“I am expecting my supplier for more condoms because there will be more demand today being Valentine’s Day.

“I always have increase in the sale of condoms during Valentine days and it is expected because many anticipate that,’’ he said.

Another check by NAN to the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka shows a lots of Valentine’s Day celebration going on in the campus.

Students in the mood of the season of love showed that they were in the celebration garb with many regarding the day as a time to express undying love among themselves.

Many of the students were dressed in red typifying the colour of the day, while many were also dancing to the music blaring at the popular student arcade from a stand by DJ.

A student in the Department of Education, Kofoworola Majekodunmi, said that it was a day when immoral activities were at its peak because of what many ascribed the day to be.

“ Valentine’s Day is a day for lovers and fun for loved ones, families and friends. It is a day set aside for immoral activities and socials.

“This is also when illicit affairs commence more because people’s perspective says it is a day for lovers and friends,’’ she said.

The Assistant Secretary-General of Anti-Aids Club in the university, Joshua Ogunmola, a student of English Education, said Valentine is a day for lovers, but the club advises students on the need for safe sex.

He said the club preached on the ABC of Sex Abstinence, Be faithful and use Condom; especially Abstinence.

He said that many packs of free condoms were distributed to students.

“The rate at which condom sells during the Valentine Day is about 70 to 80 per cent this is a result of the celebration of today.

“The students want to show appreciation, love and have fun. People abuse this day by luring girls into immoral sexual activities in the name of love and valentine.

Longe Omotosho, a student of Department of Education, emphasised the negative effect saying that people abuse the day by indulging in illicit affairs, most especially students who say is meant for lovers.

“Students should learn to abstain and show love without indulging in illicit affairs which says in the commandment “Thou shall not commit adultery’’.

NAN reports that the kiosks and chains of supermarket said the increase in condom sales is much and the belief that Valentine’s Day is meant for fun and entertainment fuelled the sales.

Meanwhile, many organisations, including the Federal Government had cautioned youths on the use of condoms and abstinence from sex on Valentine’s Day.

Dr Sani Aliyu, Director-General, National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) on Wednesday urged youths to play safe and stay protected while celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Aliyu made the call at the commemoration of 2018 World Condom Day in conjunction with Valentine’s Day celebration in Abuja.

He also enjoined youths to get tested and know their HIV status.

He said it was important for youths in the country to play safe and stay protected during this season of Valentine to arrest the transmission of new HIV infection.

“It is important for our youths to stay protected, HIV is still much around and the best way for them to protect themselves from HIV is through abstinence.

“However, if they cannot abstain from sex, then they have to use a barrier protection. Yesterday and today is an opportunity for everyone to get tested for HIV.

“All youths should get tested to know their status; it is very easy and not painful.

“Persons who test positive will be placed on medication that will help them live a normal and healthy life, while those negative should take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their loved ones,’’ Aliyu said.

Also, Dr Greg Abiaziem, the Acting Country Programme Manager, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), said the event was targeted at increasing awareness and to promote the prevention of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).

“Others include safer sex, condom use and its role in preventing HIV and unwanted pregnancies.

“It is important to ensure that condom option was made available as preventive measure to youths who can’t abstain from sex as new HIV infections is highest among young people from 15 to 24 years,’’ he said.

The Kenyan Mad Man Rescued By His Ex-Classmate In New Photos

Earlier Thread; Lady Shares Before & After Photos Of Her Classmate Who Went 'Mentally Deranged' ( http://www.nairaland.com/4118062/lady-shares-before-after-photos

Remember last year when ToriMill brought you the story of a Lady who stay by her friend who went mentally deranged due to his addiction to Drugs? Well we're here with new updates about the man.

The man, Patrick Hinga Wanjiru was introduced to Kenyans and other African countries for the first time as a destitute man in the streets of Wangige Town surviving on morsels of decayed food and coins tossed from a distance by well-wishers.

This was until Ms Wanja Mwaura, a former classmate, who recognised him took him out of the streets and got him help at a local rehabilitation centre.

The “before” and “after” pictures of Hinga who by then had undergone two weeks of detoxification from drugs went viral on social media when it was shared on a group named Kilimani Mom & Dads Uncensored and was first brought to you by ToriMill which later captures the attention of both local and international media.

The kindness of Wanja warmed the hearts of many Kenyans, particularly when Kenya was holding its repeat presidential elections in October. Kenyans were moved by the story of Hinga’s transformation and rallied to raise money to support him in his journey to recovery.

Today, he is a changed man.
According to new reports that reached us, Hinga spent the last three months undergoing counseling and rehabilitation at“The Retreat” rehab.

Clean shaven, dressed in stylish maroon khaki pants, a matching shirt and trendy sneakers, Hinga who stands almost at six feet is ready to speak to the media for the first time since he was rescued from the streets.

Although his speech has been slurred by drugs and medication, Hinga speaks eloquently, shifting between English, Swahili and Kikuyu.

According to our findings, the man Born on September 15, 1983, he attended Ndararua Primary School in Kabete and sat his KCPE exams in 1998 where he scored 447 marks out of 700. He was admitted to Uthiru High School, then a provincial school, in 1999.

Hinga’s dalliance with drugs started when he was in standard eight after friends introduced him to the lifestyle.

“It all began with cigarettes,” he says. “Before we knew it, we were smoking Bhang. I gave in to drugs because of peer pressure.”

Hinga and his friends would sneak to the toilets to smoke cigarettes and bhang. When his teachers discovered that Hinga was doing drugs, he was immediately expelled. He was in form two.

This, was the beginning of a downward spiral towards the path of ruin that would see him hit the streets. After being expelled from Uthiru, he was enrolled at Elite High School in Kayole where he dropped out due to drug use.

When it was clear that Hinga could not contain his drug habit, his mother took him to Mathari Mental Hospital where he ran away several times.

So far, he has been admitted to Mathari eight times.
Hinga says he would run away and not return home for fear of being re-admitted to Mathari.

Street life was perhaps the darkest moment of Hinga’s life.
During the day, he would roam the streets of Wangige before retiring to his corner, outside a small hotel, where people would sometimes pity him and buy him a plate of fried pork.

“What pained me the most was that my siblings were at home with my mother, safe and sound, yet I was in the streets and that was really depressing for me,” he says.

It was outside that small hotel that Wanja met Hinga and recognised him.

She began talking to Hinga who expressed his wish to leave the streets and rebuild his life.

When he checked into rehab three months ago, the fee was waived and the money raised went towards opening a business for Hinga, “Hinga’s Store.”

The store is run by his mother, who, for a long time, was desperate about what to do with her son whom she thought she had lost to drugs.

The privilege and honour of having a second shot at life is not lost on the aspiring mechanic, who is determined to get better and rebuild his life.

“I feel like I am a new man. I pray daily," he said. ToriMill reports.

10 corruption cases that can fetch FG $74.5bn, N2.5trn’

Femi Falana

Oladimeji Ramon
Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has listed 10 alleged corruption cases that can fetch the Federal Government not less than $74.5bn and N2.5trn if prosecuted.
The lawyer said without resolving these high-profile corruption cases in which the funds were trapped, it would seem that the Federal Government was chasing shadows in its anti-graft war.

Falana listed the 10 cases in a paper titled, “Promoting Transparency and Accountability in the Recovery of Stolen Assets in Nigeria: Proposals for Reforms,” which he delivered in Lagos at a seminar organised by a human rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, in collaboration with the Ford Foundation, USA.
Top on the list of the cases, Falana said, was the alleged diversion of $20.2bn from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
He said the details of the alleged fraud were captured in reports by the National Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative covering 1999-2012.
According to him, NEITI concluded that the $20.2bn fraudulently ended up in the hands of some oil companies and agencies of the Federal Government as opposed to being remitted into the Federation Account.
Falana said the alleged $20.2bn fraud at the NNPC and nine other monumental frauds worried him enough that he had had cause to write a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission calling for the probe of the alleged frauds.
He said, “Convinced that the Federal Government was chasing shadows in the fight against corruption, I have had cause to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to open the allegations of corruption which border on crimes against humanity. In the said petition, I alleged as follows:
“From five cycles of independent audit reports covering 1999-2012, the National Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, some oil companies and certain agencies of the Federal Government have withheld $20.2bn from the Federation Account.
“In 2006, the Central Bank of Nigeria removed $7bn from the nation’s external reserves and placed same as deposit in 14 Nigerian banks. In 2008, the bank gave a bailout of N600bnn ($4bn) to the same banks. Up till now, the CBN has failed to recover the said sum of $11bn from the banks

“On September 6, 2016, the NNPC announced that arrangements had been concluded to recover the sum of $9.6bn in over-deducted tax benefits from joint venture partners on major capital projects and oil swap contracts. The NNPC is said to have recovered the said sum of $9.6bn but has not remitted same into the Federation Account.”
Falana listed as number four, the alleged outstanding sum of $1.9bn “which ought to be recovered from Mobil Oil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and paid into the Federation Account.”
According to him, the $1.9bn is the outstanding sum out of the $2.5bn which Mobil ought to pay the Federal Government for the renewal of three oil blocks.
Instead of paying $2.5bn,  Falana said, “curiously, the $600m paid by Mobil was accepted by the Federal Government,” sometime in 2009.
He also tasked the Federal Government to demand accountability on the over $4bn recovered out of “the estimated $5bn stolen by a former military ruler, the late Gen. Sani Abacha.”
“The office of the Accountant General should be asked to account for the recovered loot. Furthermore, the moves to recover the remaining loot of about $800m are being frustrated by Swiss and United States governments,” the lawyer said.
He also called on the Federal Government to forthwith comply with the judgment obtained by SERAP at the Federal High Court which ordered the Federal Government to account for the spending of the recovered Abacha loot under the regimes of ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, the late Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.
Next on Falana’s list was “the $470m contract awarded to ZTE (a Chinese company) in 2009 by the Federal Government for the construction of CCTV cameras in Abuja and Lagos.”
He asked, “Since the contract was not executed, what then has happened to the $470m?”
Falana also wants the Federal Government to take steps to recover the N2.5trn allegedly paid as subsidy by the Central Bank of Nigeria, to a cabal of fuel importers
“Although the EFCC has charged some suspects to court, the whole fraud ought to be revisited as the investigation into the monumental fraud was compromised by the Jonathan administration,” he said.
Again, he urged the Federal Government to take action towards the recovery of $12.7bn from some oil companies, being the value of 60.2 million barrels of crude oil which the oil companies allegedly stole, “shipped from Nigeria and discharged at the Philadelphia port in the United States from January 2011 to December 2014 and were not recorded locally recorded.”
He said, “The EFCC ought to be directed to recover the $12.7bn from the shipping and oil companies that carried out the fraud.
“If the investigation of the stolen crude oil can be extended to other ports in the United States, China, India, France, United Kingdom etc, Nigeria may be able to recover not less than $200bn during the same period.”
Finally, the human rights lawyer said the Attorney General of the Federation, ought to recover the sum of $13.9bn which telecommunication company, MTN “illegally transferred” out of Nigeria.
“The huge fund should be recovered while the economic saboteurs involved in the illicit transfer should be prosecuted,” Falana said.
He stressed that “it is imperative for the EFCC to conduct an investigation into the colossal fraud and recover the huge proceeds of the economic and financial crimes to the states’ coffers.”
He also tasked the government on the quick passage of relevant laws that would aid the Federal Government in its effort to recover funds looted by corrupt public officials.
One of such laws, which must be urgently passed, he said, is the Proceeds of Crime Bill.
When passed into law, the bill, according to him, will address the problem of “absence of a forfeiture law in a distinct legal framework in Nigeria.”
Making a case for the passage of the Proceeds of Crime Bill, in his presentation, Falana said, “In view of the urgent need to chart the law in Nigeria in respect to forfeiture of assets in respect of unlawful activities, it is hoped that the National Assembly will pass the Proceeds of Crime Bill into law.”
He said it was regrettable that despite the existence of a treaty such as the United Nations Convention Against Corruption of 2005, some Western nations still held onto funds stolen from Nigeria and kept in their banks.
He flayed the United States of America and Switzerland particularly for maintaining a puritanical stance to frustrate Federal Government’s effort to recover the funds stolen and kept in the country by Abacha.
“The government of the United States has filed copious objections to the suit filed by Nigeria in Jersey for the recovery of over $3oom of the Abacha loot. The gravamen of the objection is that the fund be released to the United States to manage on behalf of Nigeria.
“In the same vein, Switzerland has insisted that the sum of $321m of the Abacha loot would not be repatriated to Nigeria unless the World Bank would be allowed to monitor the disbursement of the fund.
“Such patronising attitudes of western governments cannot be justified having regard to the fact that they had connived with a few unpatriotic Nigerian public officials in the grand looting of the treasury of Nigeria,” Falana said.

Lagos Woman Tortures Stepdaughters With Hot Knife, Pepper (photos)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 12:22 PM - No Replies

A 29 year old Lagos woman has been arrested after she brutally tortured and inflicted injuries on her stepchildren – 10-year-old girl, Vera, and her younger sister, Favour, five.

The woman, Chidima Nnachi, reportedly beat up Vera, rubbed pepper on her eyes and burned her back with a hot knife because Vera, a primary four pupil of Ola Olu Montessori School, went to play after returning from the school on February 7, 2018.

Chidima Nnachi also reportedly injured 5-year-old Favour on the forehead and inserted pepper in her eyes for allegedly soiling her body.

The family, including Nnachi’s husband, live at Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos State.

While the children were rescued and taken into protective custody by the Office of the Public Defender of the state Ministry of Justice, Nnachi was arrested by the police from the Ejigbo division.

Punch Metro reports that the children’s mother died in 2012 after she gave birth to Favour.

A neighbour, identified simply as Olajide, was said to have reported the case at the Ejigbo Police Division and the suspect was apprehended.

Olajide told the police that Nnachi had been maltreating the children for a long time, adding that Vera’s groans on that day prompted her to make a report.

He said:

“It was a neigbour who called my attention to the maltreatment of the children by their stepmother. I witnessed the torture of the girl (Vera) by her stepmother. She beat her for about three hours on that day. I was sad and informed the community development association chairman who advised that that we should report the case to the police.”

Vera said she had returned from her school – some distance away from the house – on the day with Favour, but returned to the school premises to play.

She said when she returned home around 3.30pm, she met her stepmother, who beat her up with a stick for playing on the street.

The girl added that Nnachi put a knife in a burning liquefied petroleum gas (cooking gas) for some minutes and pressed it on her back.

She said,

“On Wednesday, February 7, after the school closed, I went back to the school compound to play and came back home around 3.30pm. When my stepmother returned from her shop in Isheri Osun, she asked me why I left home to play on the street. I told her that I was playing at the school compound, but she said I was lying.

“She started beating me. She put on the cooking gas and placed a knife on fire. She put pepper in my eyes and I could not see again. She then pressed the hot knife on my back. I cried and felt pains.

“The following day, my younger sister woke up in the morning with faeces on her body. She (Nnachi) beat her and put pepper in her eyes too. Our father had travelled when the incidents happened.”

The suspect, a mother of one, in her statement to the police reportedly confessed to assaulting Vera, adding that she did not treat her injuries.

She said:

“Favour and Vera have been living with me since 2014 when I got married to their father. I was told their mother died in 2012 after Favour’s birth. On February 7 around 3pm, I came back from my shop in Isheri Osun and met only Favour and my two-year-old child, Dominion, at home.

“I checked everywhere, but did not see Vera. When she later came back, I asked her where she went to. She said she went to another street. As I wanted to beat her, she ran away. Her school proprietress brought her home.

When the proprietress left, I put fresh pepper in her eyes and pressed a hot knife on her back several times. Vera was the one who took care of her sister and my son when I had gone to the shop.”

A police prosecutor, Sergeant Koti Aondohemba, brought the defendant before an Ogba Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on five counts of assault.

Aondohemba told the court that the offences contravened sections 10(b)©(d) of the Child Rights Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The charges read in part:

“That you, Chidima Nnachi, on February 7, 2018 around 3.30pm, on Aso Rock Street, Brucknor Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did inflict injuries on one Vera, 10 years old, by burning her back with a hot kitchen knife and caused her bodily harm.

“That you, Chidima Nnachi, did unlawfully assault one Favour, five years old, by flogging her all over her body and inflicting injuries on her back and face, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 10© of the Child Rights Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 5, 2018.

6 Reasons Your Website Is Not Generating Traffic And How To Fix Them
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 11:13 AM - Replies (1)

It’s quite hard but 100% possible to drive massive traffic to your website!
You probably believe you’ve done everything you think is the best already, from website design to daily content post yet the result says negative.

Obviously something is wrong, this is no brainer!
The billion dollar question is — what are the brain behind the poor traffic generation of your website?

Am quite sure most business owners especially start-ups have asked this question over and over again yet the answer seems to be lost in the wind.
Fortunately for you, Google has directed you to the right place.
In this piece, I‘ll tell you the ultimate possibilities WHY your website is not generating traffic and how to fix them.
Without much ado, here are the top 6 reasons why your website is not driving traffic and how you can fix them.

1st reason: Your SEO is weak:
Are you aware that Google is the best open source for generating free traffic?
Getting your website on the first page of Google Search engine is tough but not impossible.
It take steady hard work and obedience to Google guidelines to rank high in Google search engine.
In the words, you need a superb content to begin with.

However, there are other factors that can help you skyrocket your Google ranking such
as;
- creating XML sitemap for you website
- Keywords optimization
- SEO plugin installation and so on
The absence of any of these factors might cause your website to be invisible on Google search by making your SEO appear weak.
Weak SEO will useless your effort to be found when people search for product related to your niche.
The bitter truth is that people hardly go to the second page on Google when they are searching for something.
Personally, when I’m searching for something on Google, once I can’t find what am looking for on the first page, I will enter another keywords instead of going to the next page.
You might even be surprised that most people doesn’t know that other pages aside the first one exist.

How to fix it:
Install search console, Google Analytics and an XLM sitemap: these tools are essential in getting your website found by Google.
Google Search Console allows you to monitor your overall search presence.
While Google Analytics allows you to track your website’s traffic.
It is equally useful when you want to confirm your webpage with the Google Search Console formerly called Google Webmaster tool.
And then XML sitemaps makes it possible for Google bots to crawl through your site and of course read your website. You should also consider the installation and configuration of Yoast SEO.

Yoast SEO is known to be the best Wordpress SEO plugin. This plugin will also help
you boost your site SEO and drive traffic to your website.
This plugin is quite simple. Once you install it, use the configuration wizard to guide you
with the setup.

2nd reason: Your content is Boring
As far as blogging is concern, content remains the king in traffic generation.
How do you feel when you crawl through a blog with quality blog posts?
Am sure leaving almost became impossible? Why – the post is fleshy with quality content.
What then can you say about your own posts?
Can visitors get stuck as soon as they get into your site? Or do they jump in, hiss and left?
As long as you continue to write resistible, uninteresting, and boring content, nobody is going to waste his/her time clicking on your blog post.
So to generate traffic and get people stuck in your website, you need to write useful and compelling content, if not, you’re no closer to getting traffic to your website.

How to fix it:
First you need to know your onus. What problem are you trying to solve with your website through your content.
Every content must have a target, so what’s yours?
Writing a quality content means understanding your audience and writing to suit their needs.
Find out what their problem is and then render a solution to that problem with a well–researched content ranging from keywords planning to the actual writing. You might consider using tools like Google keyword planner, SEMRush, etc to get exact keywords people are looking for.
Note: before writing a blog post, always place yourself in your audience’ shoes, by doing so, you’ll able to have a solution to their problems.

3rd reason: Your Headlines are Loose and resistible
What attracts you to click on a post?
I usually get attracted once I set my eyes on catchy headlines-I don’t even waste time hitting the click button-why? It’s compelling and irresistible. No one would even bother clicking if your headline is not interesting.

Eyes definitely eat first the before tongue get to taste the food.
So if you’ve spent all your time and energy writing quality content and then drops a boring headline, 90 out 100 people won’t even want to know if the content is superb or not. So headline is as much important as quality content- both go in handy.

How to fix it:
You should know what your audience are looking for so you need to know exact keyword or something very close.
Thank goodness, you finally get an awesome keyword.
The next thing is to write something capable of arresting the attention of people looking for such keywords.

Examples of titles:
 Top 10 ways of getting your website rank no. 1 in Google
 5 best ways to make money on the internet
 How to overtake your competitors and rank no.1 in SEO
 How you can promote your sales to 70% through your website in 2018
Write something that is catchy. However, your titles should be related to your niche.

4th reason: You content lack promotion
It is one thing to write a quality content, and another to promote the content.
Do you just hit the publish button and relax while your content sink and sink until it can’t be found anymore.
As a startup business, you brand may not have been recognized by people-you need to get people to know about the services you offer.
Prospects only clicks links that are visible to them, and yours can only be found if promoted.
Even large businesses also promote their contents.
So your inability to generate enough traffic could be lack of promotion.

How to fix it:
This absolutely has nothing to do with budget- in other words, even if you’re running a very tight budget you can as well promote your content and get people to know about your brand-HOW?
Social media marketing- It is free unless you want to subscribe to paid promotion campaign.
Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc) is one the best ways you can promote your business, content and website as well-this is no brainer.

With good social media management you can get thousands of traffic in a matter of days.
All you need is create social media presence (I would recommend Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn)
As long as you continue to promote your social media presence, you’ll definitely get visitors running through your website.
Note: You must be socially active to get the expected result.

5th reason: Your website has terrible user experience
The poor site traffic you complained about could be as result of the terrible and horrible user experience of your website.
If your site is not user-friendly, I bet you won’t have enough traffic-in fact your site visitors will even decrease in number.
Nobody would want to have bad experience when he/she needed to surf for internet for something.
One thing you must know is that man (male and female) by nature is impatient. So if your site is not user friendly then generating traffic going to be almost impossible because people will not visit your site irrespective of your superb content.
Bad user experience will discourage those that wants to read your post.
It is good to have a site that’s user friendly.

How to fix it:
When it comes to a user-friendly website, many things are involved.
Poor wed design, poor loading speed and many more.
So you have to modify your website and make it user-friendly, let visitors have the flexibility of navigating through your site without obstructions.
Optimize your website to load faster at least three second load. Optimize the images and videos on your page so that your website won’t spend years loading. No one has time for such terrible experience.

6th reason: Your website is not mobile friendly
You might be wondering why your site is still not having much clicks. Check if your website is mobile friendly.

With the billions of people surfing the internet through their mobile phone, chances are that you won’t get much traffic. The portability of mobiles phone allows people to surf the internet anywhere and anytime provided there’s internet provider. So if your site in not generating enough traffic, the problem could be from non- friendliness of your

INEC Responsible For Underage Voting In Kano – PDP
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 11:05 AM - No Replies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigerians have lost confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for attempting to cover its complicity in the widespread impunity recorded in last Saturday’s Kano local council elections.

DAILY POST recalls that INEC had said in a press statement that the disturbing reports of underage voting that emerged from the just concluded local polls in Kano State did not relate to any election it conducted or had responsibility for.

According to the national electoral body, the clarification was necessary in order to allay public worries over the credibility of the 2019 elections.

However, the PDP insisted that it was INEC that registered and documented minors as voters in the first place and as such should not in any way attempt to exonerate itself of involvement in the electoral fraud, simply because it did not directly conduct the elections.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Wednesday, said “the press release by INEC, wherein it tried to exonerate itself from culpability in the participation of minors in Kano election, clearly shows that INEC under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is completely unreliable and cannot be trusted.

“We ask: Who is fooling who? Is it not INEC that registered the minors and issued them with Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) to participate in elections as clearly documented in the Kano council election? Can INEC truly acquit itself as the original culprit who set the stage for the eventual participation of the minors and overall rigging of the elections?

“By resorting to lame excuses and trying to exonerate itself at a time it should be taking decisive steps to protect the sanctity of its sensitive materials such as the PVC, this INEC has shown that it cannot be relied upon as a responsible and trustworthy electoral umpire.

“Indeed, if this INEC was serious about the sanctity of sensitive electoral materials, by now, it should have ordered the immediate review of its voter register in Kano and Katsina states, fishing out and prosecuting those who registered the minors and clean up the electoral system in the affected states.

“Viewed alongside series of numerous other irregularities being allowed by INEC to favor the ruling APC, including alleged conspiracy with APC-controlled security operatives to intimidate opposition members and manipulate elections as witnessed in the last Saturday’s Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency Supplementary election in Katsina state, any reasonable person will decode that INEC, as presently constituted, has serious questions to answer, especially as we approach the 2019 general elections.

“While we now hold the statement by INEC as part of our strong evidence of irregularities and violations in the elections, we charge the commission to redeem its name by immediately reviewing and sanitizing its voter registers in affected states, particularly, Kano and Katsina, as that it the only way it can demonstrate its dependability to Nigerians.

“Finally, we want INEC to note, and in very strong terms too, that Nigerians will not accept anything short of credible, free and fair general election. The commission should therefore ensure that it does not allow itself to be used by the APC against the will of the people, particularly in the 2019 elections, as such will be highly resisted.”

January Inflation Drops To 15.13%, Says NBS
User Avatar Forum: Business/Investment
Posted by: Edoman - 02-15-2018, 11:03 AM - No Replies

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s official data agency, has said January’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures inflation, again dropped to 15.13 per cent, up from the December 2017 level of 15.37 per cent.

Breaking down the January CPI report released yesterday, the NBS said the new figure is 0.24 per cent points lower than the rate recorded in December, making it the 12th consecutive disinflation in headline year on year inflation since January 2017.

The report said increases were recorded in all Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (COICOP) divisions of all consumption items that yield the Headline Index.

“ On a month-on-month basis, the Headline Index increased by 0.80 per cent in January 2018, 0.21 per cent points higher from the rate of 0.59 per cent recorded in December 2017. The percentage change in the average composite CPI for the 12-month period ending January 2018 over the average of the CPI for the previous 12-month period was 16.22 per cent, showing 0.28 per cent point lower from 16.50 per cent recorded in December 2017.”

It further added that the urban inflation rate rose by 15.56 per cent (year-on-year) in January 2018 from 16.78 per cent recorded in December 2017, while the rural inflation rate also eased by 14.76 per cent in January 2018 from 15.02 per cent in December 2017, while On month-on-month basis, the urban index rose by 0.83 per cent in January 2018, up by 0.17 from 0.66 per cent recorded in December 2017, while the rural index also rose by 0.77 per cent in January 2018, up by 0.23 per cent when compared with 0.54 per cent in December 2017.

It explained that the corresponding 12-month year-on-year average percentage change for the urban index is 16.55 per cent in January 2018, which is less than 16.92 per cent reported in December 2017, with the corresponding rural inflation rate in January 2018 now being 15.89 per cent compared to 16.10 per cent recorded in December 2017.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday revealed that it has in the past two years of the implementation of its Anchor Borrowers Programme disbursed N55 billion to over 250, 000 farmers.

The Acting-Director, Corporate Communications Department, of the apex bank, Mr. Isaac Okorafor revealed the figure yesterday in Abuja during a media briefing.

The ABP launched in Kebbi State on November 17, 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari was designed to create economic linkages between farmers and processors, not only to ensure increased agricultural output of rice and wheat, but to also close the gap between production and consumption, with the ultimate goal of checking against food inflation brought about by import cost.

He said out of the N55 billion provided by the apex bank, 80 per cent, representing N44 billion was given to rice farmers alone.

He said the need to provide rice farmers adequate funding was to ensure self-sufficiency in rice production and to also ensure that Nigeria becomes a net exporter of the product.

The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) President, Aminu Gorongo, said that unlike in the past where the anchor borrowers programme partnership was between the CBN and state governments, a private sector-driven initiative has been launched to drive the programme.

Jacob Zuma Just Resigned as South African President - BBC
Details Later.
Jacob Zuma resigns as South Africa's president
Zuma, 75: ‘I fear no motion of no confidence or impeachment’
Steps down after days of defying ANC orders to leave office
Jacob Zuma, the president of South Africa, has resigned after days of defying orders from the ruling African National Congress to leave office and on the eve of a no-confidence vote in parliament.
In a televised address to the nation late on Wednesday, the 75-year-old said he was a disciplined member of the ANC, to which he had dedicated his life.
“I fear no motion of no confidence or impeachment … I will continue to serve the people of South Africa and the ANC. I will dedicate my life to continuing to work for the execution of the policies of our organisation,” Zuma said.
“No life should be lost in my name. The ANC should never been divided in my name. I have therefore come to the decision to resign as president of the republic with immediate effect.”
The resignation ended an extraordinary day in South African politics, which had begun with a dawn raid on a business family at the centre of the recent corruption allegations levelled at Zuma.
At noon, ANC officials announced they would vote for an opposition party’s no-confidence motion in parliament on Thursday.
Late in the afternoon, Zuma gave an angry and rambling TV interview to justify his refusal to obey his own party’s order to step down.
But his speech was more confident and warm. The president expressed his gratitude to the ANC and South Africans for the privilege of serving them at the “pinnacle” of public life.
Zuma’s resignation leaves the path clear for deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa, who took over the leadership of the ANC in December, to be elected by parliament to the highest office.
Zuma, a former anti-apartheid activist who has led the ANC since 2007 and been South Africa’s president since 2009, was due to leave power next year.
His tenure has been marred by economic decline and multiple charges of graft that have undermined the image and legitimacy of the party that led South Africans to freedom in 1994.
The chaotic political crisis of recent days has further damaged the ANC, and angered many South Africans who are increasingly impatient with the party’s opaque internal procedures.
Ramaphosa won a bitterly fought internal election in December and is seen as the standard bearer of the party’s reformist wing.
Party strategists wanted Zuma to be sidelined as quickly as possible to allow the ANC to regroup before campaigning starts for elections in 2019.
The party suffered significant setbacks at municipal polls in 2016 and could be forced into a coalition government at the national level, experts say.
As president, Ramaphosa will have to balance the need to reassure foreign investors and local businesses against the intense popular demand for dramatic measures to address South Africa’s deep problems.
The 65-year-old former trade union leader has said South Africa is coming out of a “period of uncertainty, a period of darkness, and getting into a new phase”.
Richard Calland, an expert in South African politics at the University of Cape Town, said the departure of Zuma from office would give Ramaphosa “the chance to rebuild government and the party at the same time”.
In recent days, the rand has strengthened and many analysts have revised upwards their predictions of South Africa’s economic growth.

A member of vigilance group in Obadolovbiyeyi community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Efe Igbnovia, has been shot dead by soldiers.
The soldiers were said to have released some herdsmen who were nabbed for armed robbery.
Witnesses said the vigilance group had arrested some herdsmen for armed robbery along the Benin-Abraka expressway and late Igbinovia was asked to watched over the arrested herdsmen while went after other fleeing members of the gang.
The witness said a group of armed men in military uniforms arrived in a Honda car marked AP 641 KTN and fired at Igbinovia after which they set the arrested suspects free.
A member of the community, Mr. Henry Osemwengie, said that the vigilance group had earlier arrested about six herdsmen for robbery and took to the Ugbekun police station.
Osemwengie said, “Two of the herdsmen were caught. Igbinovia was asked to stay.
Before then, the police had been called to come and pick them (herdsmen) because that is what we normally do. Suddenly, a red Honda car with about four of them putting on military uniforms carrying AK47 rifles came and started shooting.
“Igbinovia shouted that he had been shot. When the other people (vigilantes) came back, they discovered that Igbinovia was already down. They (armed men) killed him and went away with two robbers. Robbers, most of whom are Hausa, usually operate there. They keep their cows by the side, block the road and start robbing.”
Cousin of the deceased, Mr Onaghise Willson said his late brother was allegedly shot by the men in military uniforms before taking some of the arrested armed herders to the hospital for treatment.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, who confirmed the incident said, “The herdsmen were alleged to have blocked the expressway. Two of them are with the police undergoing interrogation.
On the alleged killing of the vigilante by armed men in military uniforms, Kokumo said, “That is an allegation we are investigating. Actually, one of the vigilance members died in the course of duty.”

He said the troop mobilised to the scene and engaged armed men at the scene but unfortunately one person who was later identified as member of the vigilante was killed.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 15TH FEBRUARY.

Pastor Chris

TOPIC ✨ HE’S YOUR PORTION✨

And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel (Numbers 18:20).

We understand from the Scriptures that God apportioned inheritance to the different tribes of Israel except the Levites. To the Levites He said, “I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.” In other words, “I’m your portion! I’m everything you need!” This is wonderful! How rich can you get when the Lord is your portion?

Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” If this is true, and it is, then it follows that the earth and everything in it belongs to you because the Lord is your portion. No wonder, the Bible says all things are yours! Now, you can understand when I say I don’t ask God for anything; all my prayers are for other people. I have nothing to ask God for, because I have Christ, and Christ is everything.

When this truth dawns on you, the struggles would be over; it’ll change your mentality and your testimonies would be different. The Psalmist knew the Lord to be his portion and so declared, “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot” (Psalms 16:5).

Then in Psalm 27:1, the psalmist testified, _*“… the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”*_ (Psalm 27:1). He didn’t say, “Strengthen me, oh Lord”; rather, he declared, “The Lord is the strength of my life!” You don’t ask for strength when you know the Lord is your portion; He’s your strength, and you testify accordingly.

Being born again, you’ve been made a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light (Colossians 1:12). You’ve been brought into a large place (Psalm 18:19); a place of wealth, health and prosperity. Get to know and enjoy all that belongs to you in Christ by studying and meditating on the Word. Walking in the light of this and other truths in the Word will launch you into a life of endless possibilities, glory, excellence and superabundance.

PRAYER
Thank you Father for being the portion of my inheritance; I boldly declare that the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places and I have a goodly heritage. I live and walk in wealth, health and prosperity even as goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY: Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I [am] thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward.

Psalm 16:5 The LORD [is] the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

Psalm 119:57 [Thou art] my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.

Five injured after Delta Lagos-Atlanta flight develop engine issues
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation

FIVE passengers were injured and many had to use the emergency slides to exit the plane onto the runway after a Delta Air line Atlanta-bound flight from Lagos, Nigeria was forced to turn back Tuesday after the plane experienced engine issues.
Delta officials confirmed that its Flight 55 from Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos took off from the airport around 10:50 p.m. Nigeria time.
The flight had only been in the air for a little less than an hour and a half, and had only traveled 29 of its roughly 5,800-mile journey, before one of the A330-200’s two engines reported issues.
Delta in a reaction, said the flight landed safely shortly after midnight, but passengers had to use the emergency slides to exit the plane onto the runway. Airport fire crews met the plane on arrival, and passengers were bussed back to the terminal.
At this time, Delta said it is aware of five customers who reported non-critical injuries during the evacuation. The company said it’s now focused on trying to find overnight hotel accommodations for customers, and will likely rebook them on a Wednesday afternoon flight.
“The safety of Delta’s customers and crew members is always our top priority,” the company concluded.
According to reports obtained, the flight which initially pushed back at 22:40hrs had Air Return /Emergency landing at 23:16hrs, when the pilot in command (PIC) announced the evacuation of all the passengers on board within 90 seconds, after contacting the Control Towers because the left Engine of the Aircraft was said to have caught Fire mid air in-flight.
Further information revealed that all airport agencies officials on duty were on ground within few minutes that the emergency alarm was announced including FAAN AVSEC, NCAA-CPOS, FAAN Fire Service, Port Health, Aviation Clinic, Quaratine, NDLEA ETC.
Passenger casualties were recorded and have been taken to LASUTH Ikeja, Air Force Base Clinic, and FAAN Medical Centre for speedy medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Delta Aircraft was still on the Runway for over 1hr which led to it’s closure before KLM, Lufthansa and Air France to depart afterwards. The aircraft was later towed with a push back truck to the open parking bay close to Boarding gate E 63. However the remaining passengers were later taken to hotel after the flight was announced cancelled and rescheduled for a date yet to be specified and communicated. https://nigerianflightdeck.com/2018/02/f...ne-issues/

FAAN records 68% revenue increase with GAT car park automation
User Avatar Forum: Travel/Aviation
Posted by: Edoman - 02-14-2018, 10:03 PM - No Replies

AUTOMATION of the car park of the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos has recorded a 68% revenue increase and aided in blocking certain financial leakages according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
General Manager, Corporate Communications FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, made this known in an interview with our correspondent at the agency’s headquarters in Lagos saying the automation exercise had blocked some of the loopholes in the system, stressing that FAAN was making more revenues than in the past from the GAT.
Mrs. Yakubu said that with the automation of the car park, rowdiness and massive traffic associated with the manual collection at the park has disappeared adding that FAAN would review the performance of the exercise by the end of this quarter and make adjustments where necessary.
She said: “FAAN decided to overhaul the whole system and see how we could make it orderly because we were getting a lot of complaints from our passengers and airport users that they were not getting a space to park their vehicles. Then, we were wondering if all the people that park their vehicles at the car park are airport workers and travellers. Also, we are in an era of technology where people no longer do things manually, but automated. That was what prompted FAAN into doing the automation.
“And since we started, there has been a lot of sanity at the car park, there is a lot of orderliness, progression. As soon as you go into the airport, you just go into the car park without any issues. In time past, there were lots of queues. Once you get into the airport, if you are not dropping, you are encouraged to go to the car park and do your business there, rather than parking on the road and create traffic.”
Despite the automation of the car park, Yakubu said that FAAN would still continue with the planned construction of a multi-storey car park within the GAT terminal, stressing that such would further enhance revenue generation for the agency.
“As you know, FAAN just completed the construction of a multi storey car park at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. Plans are on ground too for the car park at the GAT. When we commence the construction, everyone would see it,” she said.
On the evacuation of aircraft she said that the evacuation of disused aircraft at the nation’s airports would continue with the removal of unserviceable airplanes at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.
She said that the exercise had been completed in Lagos while the team, would move to Kano airport for the same exercise and subsequently move to Ilorin, Kaduna and others.
She added that FAAN was also working on the toilet facilities at the international wing of the Lagos Airport.
“The Wing D toilet fittings have been removed and completely replaced. Once we are done with Wing D, we shall move to Wing E. we are doing complete overhaul of the facilities so that we can have new toilets for users.
“We have been getting a lot of complaints from our customers on the state of our toilets. You know, MMA is an old airport and what we are doing is in line with our core value of comfort for passengers and other users of the airport. We felt it was necessary for us to remove them and replace with others while we are waiting for a new terminal,” she said.
FAAN commenced the automation of the GAT car park January 8, 2018, which eliminated the manual collection of toll that had been in existence for about two decades. https://nigerianflightdeck.com/2018/02/f...n/#respond

Quote:The Senate on Tuesday in Abuja urged the Federal Government to ban importation of palm oil into the country in order to protect local production as well as encourage farmers.
This followed the unanimous adoption of a motion entitled: “Urgent Need to Halt the Importation of Palm Oil and its Allied Products to Protect Palm Oil Industry in Nigeria.’’
In a lead debate, the sponsor of the motion, Sen. Francis Alimikhena (Edo-APC), decried importation of palm produce into the country.

Alimikhena expressed concern that importation of palm kernel and allied palm products are threats to Federal Government’s campaign on diversification of the economy through increased agricultural production and exports.
He said that Nigeria imported about 450, 000 tonnes of palm oil to the tune of N116.3 billion in 2017.

“Nigeria was the world leading producer of palm oil at independence, but unfortunately, Indonesia and Malaysia have overtaken us and we are now importing palm oil.
“Malaysia which is widely believed to have collected its first seedlings from Nigeria some decades ago, is now exporting palm oil products to us.
“The government must reverse this trend with copious investments in the local palm industry and the protection of local producers from unnecessary imports,’’ Alimikhena said.

While acknowledging that Nigeria is endowed with the land and manpower to boost palm oil production, the lawmaker emphasised that the focus should be directed toward returning to pre-independence status in palm oil production.
“We have no business importing palm kernel or any oil palm product from any country.
“At independence, agriculture was the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy. More than 70 per cent of the population was engaged in agriculture.
“Apart from various food crops produced in the country, Nigeria was a major producer of palm oil/kernel, cocoa, groundnut and rubber.
“But following the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantity in the 70s, agriculture was neglected,’’ Alimikhena said.

He added that the importation of the product was harming the local palm industry and depleting foreign reserve.
“This is also threatening the viability of the industry into which many Nigerians have sunk huge sums of money in support of the government’s export promotion drive.
“If the palm industry is fully developed, it will guarantee mass employment and boost our foreign exchange earnings,’’ he added.
Contributing, Sen. Theodore Orji (Abia-PDP) said there was need to establish a special fund to encourage local production of palm oil in the country.
He also expressed concern that many oil production plants in the country were moribund.
According to Orji, palm oil used to be a major income earner for the country, but unfortunately many plants are dead.
On his part, Sen. Jibrin Barau(Kano-APC) called for introduction of policies that would be targeted at encouraging local production of cash crops.
Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano-APC) also urged the Federal Government to ban importation of cash crops that can be produced locally.
“Also there is need for the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development to invite the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) on why it has failed to deliver on its mandate,’’ Kwankwaso said.
In his remarks, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said that the importance of reviving the country’s palm oil industry cannot be overemphasised.
“There is need for this sector to be properly positioned to play its role as one of the major income earners for the country.
“When the palm oil sector is revived, it will boost employment,’’ Ekweremadu said. (NAN)

Enugu State Increases Corpers Allowance To N30,000 & N20,000 For Doctors, Others
User Avatar Forum: NYSC
Posted by: Edoman - 02-14-2018, 09:15 PM - No Replies

Enugu State Government has announced increase in the allowance for National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) members serving in primary healthcare facilities in rural areas in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Ogbuagu Anikwe, announced this in Enugu on Wednesday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

Anikwe said that medical doctors serving in hospitals in rural areas would henceforth receive N30, 000 monthly from the state government as against N3, 800 being given to them currently.

Similarly, he said, pharmacists, nurses, radiographers, laboratory scientists and statisticians would receive a monthly stipend of N20, 000.

He announced that the government also planned to review the service condition and welfare of other set of corps members in the state.

The commissioner explained that the increase in allowances of the corps members serving in health facilities was to further ensure that health services were taken close to rural dwellers.

“The government has approved that each corps member selected to work as a medical doctor in government hospital in the rural areas will get a monthly stipend of N30, 000.

“All of these will cost the government extra N31.2 million per annum but it is an expense that is worth it. It is to ensure that health facilities are available at the door steps of our people,” he said.

Anikwe said that the government noted the challenges of getting medical personnel to work health facilities in rural communities and decided on the incentive.

According to him, the council decided that one sure way to solve the problem is to get health personnel from the NYSC who will be encouraged with an increased stipend.

The commissioner said that the state government had invested much in rural communities and would want such facilities to have direct impact on the inhabitants.

“Before now, Enugu had a peculiar problem because the state was paying a certain amount as allowance and it led to an influx of youth corps members from all over the country, wanting to serve here.

“It then became impossible for the state government to continue to sustain that stipend because we are not out of the woods yet.

“So, we are not unmindful of what to do for corps members but everything we are doing, we check our purse.

“I am sure that as the finances of the state government improves, we will come to a point where everybody is given an allowance that enables them cope with the condition of life in the country,” he said.

Anikwe said that the government was first looking at very critical sectors, adding that others would follow soon.

He said that the governor, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was passionate about making residents of the state competitive and healthy “and that is why his economic blueprint traversed the entire state”.

Also, Commissioner for Works, Mr Greg Nnaji, said that the state government had approved the renovation and upgrade of eight district hospitals across the state.

Nnaji said that the gesture was to reduce the pressure on secondary health facilities in the state and to ensure that residents did not have to travel to the state capital for medical attention.

He said that such hospitals and clinics would now wear new looks while modern health equipment would be installed in them.

All youth corps members posted to rural communities of the state are paid monthly stipend of N3, 800 each.

APC Senators Attack Saraki, Reject Change In Election Timetable
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-14-2018, 09:09 PM - No Replies

Quote:A group of senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress has rejected the senate adoption of the conference committee report on amendment to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Act.

Specifically, the senators said they were opposed to the amendment to section 25 of the Act which re-arranged the order of the 2019 elections.

The House of Representatives was first to amend the Electoral Act to change the order of the 2019 general elections putting the election of federal lawmakers first before that of the state lawmakers and state governors, with the last being the presidential election.
The senators, 10 in number, left the chambers to address the press while plenary was still on.

They described the amendment and process of passage as ‘illegal’, vowing that it would not stand.
Leader of the dissenting group, Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa-APC), questioned the conduct of the senate president, Bukola Saraki, in the passage process.

“We are part of the whole body of senators who oppose the process by which the so-called conference report was laid and considered as rushed. I had the opportunity (to speak), I was heard but the Senate President said my observation was being noted.
“The reliance upon the relevant statutes, some of which have actually not been signed to the best of our knowledge, and we did challenge that anybody who has the signed copy should produce it there so as to check doubting Thomases. We believe the process was rushed. There is no need for the rush. Give everybody the opportunity. There is no reason for just two people to speak on the issue. It’s not the tradition of the senate.”

He alleged that the process was pre-determined as even the Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC did not sign the report.

“We are against what has happened. We are not the only ones. If you take note of the report that was circulated, the chairman and co-chair did not sign. We don’t know why they didn’t sign.
“Why do we want to make a law that addresses one particular issue targeted at a person. This is very partisan. You could see from the body language, from the utterances that it is a pre-determined thing by a political party that is threatened by the APC government. Whatever incumbency given to anyone we are denying that one. We are not part of this endorsement.”
Ovie Omo-Agege, Delta-APC, said the bill would not have been passed if the presiding officer had allowed a division.
He also alleged that the House of Representative did not form a quorum when the issue was considered.
“For some of you who are familiar with what transpired in the House of Reps, only 36 members were on the floor when this so-called amendment to section 25 of the Electoral Act was introduced. The position we took is that 36 people cannot determine the destiny of 360 people in the house, which is now being carried over to 109 in the senate. The least we are owed is for this so-called amendment to be deliberated upon and our rule is clear.
“We have 59 senators who are opposed to the inclusion of section 25 of the Electoral Act. If that division was allowed today, 59 senators would have voted to delete that purported amendment to section 25.”
Binta Garba, Adamawa-APC, said the amendment is not healthy for the current economic situation in the country.
“Now we are having economic crisis in our hands and instead of us to look at the welfare and wellbeing of our people, we are looking at selfish interest in the long-run. It is not because of Mr. President. What happens tomorrow if you are the president, will you now want to amend again to suit yourself? Why I’m not in support is that the economic crisis we have on ground, we must look into it. Only God knows how much it will cost.”
Similarly, Ali Wakili, Bauchi-APC, said the new arrangement is not ‘well’ for the economy.
“Why did they wait until after the INEC has come out with timetable? If we look at the cost-benefit to the economy, four elections in one month will be too staggering. It is not well for the economy, politics, and security.

“We had inside this chamber considered conference reports and we dissolve into house, look at it clause by clause, raise observations and return it back to the House of Reps, why must it be different in this case?”
Kurfi Umaru (Katsina-APC) described the amendment as illegal.
“This is absolutely wrong. We are lawmakers, elections is for INEC, so why should we bother ourselves with election? This thing they are doing is absolutely illegal. There is no way they can achieve.”

Senate Passes Reordered 2019 Poll Bill, 59 Senators Oppose Move
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-14-2018, 09:07 PM - No Replies

Senators, on Wednesday, were divided over the reordered sequence of the 2019 General Elections.

Recall that the reordered sequence puts the presidential election last.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had, before now, put the presidential election among the first elections to be conducted in February 2019.

On Wednesday, the report on the election sequence was submitted for consideration of the Senate by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC, Suleiman Nazif.

After the presentation of the report, Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki did not allow senators to make contributions to the amendment, a development that led to series of Points of Orders on the floor of the Red Chamber.

Senators such as Kabiru Gaya, Abdulahi Adamu and Adamu Ailero, had raised points of orders on the passage of the bill.

But the Senate President ruled the lawmakers out of order and when some lawmakers observed the position of their leadership on the matter, they left the chamber,

Fifty-nine of them were to later address the Senate Press Corps, insisting on their opposition to the reordering of the elections.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Tuesday took over the assets of Daily Times Nigeria Plc, a foremost media establishment in Nigeria, over huge outstanding loan.
The corporation in a statement signed by its Head, Corporate Communications, Jude Nwauzor, said the takeover was in continuation of AMCON recovery activities in the new financial year.
The statement said AMCON took over the assets on February 13, through Gbenga Fakoya, SAN.
It said the takeover followed the Federal High Court ruling on Feb. 1, 2018, in which Justice I.N Buba ordered AMCON to take over the paper.
“But having exhausted all avenues of peaceful resolution over the huge outstanding debt owed AMCON by the Daily Times Plc, the Federal High Court on February 1, 2018, presided over by Honourable Justice I. N Buba ordered AMCON to take over the Daily Times,” it said.
The statement said the court by the said order restrained the directors, shareholders, agents, servants, privies and /or employees howsoever described from preventing AMCON from taking possession of the Daily Times.
It added that AMCON had complied by effectively taking over the Daily Times on Feb. 13, 2018.
The statement said AMCON was interested in the recovery of the debt and not the ownership of the media empire.
The Federal Government of Nigeria once held 96.05 percent share in Daily Times through NICON Insurance Plc.

The government, during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004, called for bids from the general public as it sought to divest its stake in the oldest newspaper conglomerate.
Consequently, Folio Communications Ltd, owned by Fidelis Anosike and his brother Noel Anosike tendered a bid for the said shares and was confirmed by the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), as the most preferred bidder for the shares.
The BPE sold to Folio at the cost of N1.25 billion.
The statement said since the 2004 privatisation exercise, Folio Communications had been trapped in court cases following a loan of N750 million from Hallmark Bank Plc, which it secured to enable it pay for the newspaper company.
“Folio also got DSV Limited promoted by Sen Ikechukwu Obiorah to invest the sum of N500 million in the purchase of the shares with the understanding that upon concluding the transaction, DSV would be entitled to 40 per cent of the shareholding of the media empire.
A year after the sale, Hallmark Bank Plc (now defunct), Folio Communications Ltd, promoted by the Anosike brothers/Daily Times of Nigeria Plc and DSV Limited, promoted by Obiorah commenced several legal battles over the real ownership of the newspaper.
In 2010, AMCON purchased the loan from the then Afribank Plc, which later became Mainstreet Bank.
Consequently, Folio Communications Limited also dragged AMCON to court on several claims while Mr. Obiorah commenced an action against the Corporation in the name of Daily Times Plc at the Federal High Court vide suit no: FHC/L/CS/ 1254 /15 – the Daily Times Nigeria Plc vs AMCON”, it said.
The statement said that both suits were, however, struck out by the respective courts. (NAN)

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL (FEBRUARY PDF => http://bit.ly/2cuJG6M

*CHOSEN TO BE HIS WITNESS .*

Wednesday, February 14th .
Pastor Chris

_*Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).*_

Did you know that as a child of God, because of you, there’s hope for men in this world? God chose you to be His witness; to tell others about the saving power of the Gospel of Christ, and about His love. The Glorious Gospel of the blessed Lord has been committed to your trust (1 Timothy 1:11). The Apostle Paul, understanding this, declared, _*“...necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel”*_ (1 Corinthians 9:16).

Be absolutely convinced that nothing else could be as important as being an effective witness for Christ. This must be your passion and your love—witnessing to others about Jesus. You’re chosen for this. The Bible says, _*“… it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things”*_ (Luke 24:46-48).

How then could you be quiet? You have to tell somebody else, and you also have to give towards the furtherance of the Gospel. Be a sponsor of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be proud of it. Give financially for the things of God, and be present in meetings where Kingdom expansion is discussed.

In your sphere of contact—be it a hospital, prison, school, village, wherever—preach the Gospel. Tell the untold and reach the unreached, because this Gospel is real and it’s true; it’s the power of God unto salvation to those who believe. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:13-15, _*“For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”*_

Be compelled by your love for Christ to preach the Gospel. Intercede for the lost whenever you have the opportunity to do so, because you’re God’s witness on earth.

*PRAYER*

*The burden of responsibility is on me to preach the Gospel of Christ. I’m sensitive to the leading of the Spirit to minister the Gospel to the weary and bring healing and health to the sick, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Mark 16:15-18* And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. *||*

*||* *Acts 1:8* But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. *||*

You Cannot Sell National Theatre, Reps Committee Tells FG

Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Culture and Tourism have opposed the proposed plan by the Federal Government to sell the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos State. The lawmakers on Monday insisted that the national asset cannot be sold as it remains a national monument.

They made their position known during an interactive session between the committee and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. Chairman House Committee on Culture and Tourism, Representative Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama said selling the national edifice is not in the best interest of the citizens of the country.

“There are two issues that are not budget-related that we require you and the Minister to look into as a matter of urgency. I am sure that you received the resolution of the House about the proposed plan to sell the National Theatre as part of our National Assets. We cannot sell National Theater. As the representative of the people, we will stand for Nigerians to any level within the powers of the law to ensure that it is not sold. I want you to please, look at it,” Ogbeide-Ihama said.

  Jaob Zuma Agrees To Resign
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion

Quote:South African President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday agreed in principle to resign within a time frame of three to six months, said ANC secretary general on Tuesday.

ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule said this when briefing the media in Johannesburg about ANC’s NEC (National Executive Committee) meeting last night.

He said the NEC resolved to recall Zuma and will brief Parliament caucus on Wednesday.

NAN reports that the decision by the ANC national executive followed 13 hours of tense deliberations and one, short face-to-face exchange between Zuma and his presumed successor, deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Zuma, a polygamous Zulu traditionalist, has been living on borrowed time since Ramaphosa, a union leader and lawyer once tipped as Mandela’s pick to take over the reins, was elected as head of the 106-year-old ANC in December.

Ramaphosa narrowly defeated Zuma’s ex-wife and preferred successor, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, in the leadership vote, forcing him to tread carefully in handling Zuma for fear of deepening rifts in the party a year ahead of an election.

In spite of the damning decision to order Zuma’s “recall” – ANC-speak for ‘remove from office’ – domestic media say the 75-year-old might yet defy the party’s wishes, forcing it into the indignity of having to unseat him in parliament.

Shortly before midnight, the SABC state broadcaster said Zuma had been told in person by Ramaphosa that he had 48 hours to resign.

A senior party source later told Reuters Zuma had made clear he was going nowhere.

“Cyril went to speak with him,” the source said, adding that the discussions were “tense and difficult” when Ramaphosa returned to the ANC meeting in a hotel near Pretoria.

We decided to recall Zuma,” the source said. Another party source said ANC Secretary-General and Zuma loyalist Ace Magashule had gone to see Zuma on Tuesday morning to tell him formally of the party’s decision.

The ANC is due to hold a media briefing in the afternoon to reveal its version of events.

One domestic report said Zuma had asked for three months to resign, a request that was denied. Another report said he simply told Ramaphosa: “Do what you want to do”.

Zuma’s spokesman did not answer his mobile phone. His son, Edward, said he would not comment until after the ANC had made its formal pronouncement. (NAN)

Tinubu To Obasanjo, IBB: Join Retirees’ Club
User Avatar Forum: Politics
Posted by: Edoman - 02-14-2018, 05:14 AM - No Replies

Quote:Posted By: Augustine Ehikioya, Abuja

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday advised former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida to join retirees’ club and take pensions.

The leaders had sent open letters, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of ineptitude and sectionalism.

But reacting to questions on Obasanjo and IBB’s statements while speaking with selected journalists after meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu said: “I don’t address those shadows. We should let our former presidents join retirees’ club and take pensions. But they can participate in our politics if they are interested.

“It is a free world. But this freedom is not served a la carte but they should allow us to move our country forward. It is a challenge to every Nigerian.”

On the chances of APC in 2019, he added: “You are asking me an obvious question. I belong to this party. My commitment is to this party. We have a better chance and we are strongly determined to prosecute election in a most transparent and democratic manner and we will win.”

And on his appointment as the head of APC Presidential Reconciliation Committee, the former Lagos State Governor said he felt greatly honoured with the mutual confidence the President has reposed in him.

“I feel greatly honoured with the mutual confidence that the President has reposed in me which is a very strong political challenge. We have started in earnest.

“He has given me free hand to put cohesion, confidence and trust in the party.

Democracy is about conflict resolution process. You can’t do it without resolving conflicts.

“We can’t build it without understanding the conflicts and sources where we are coming from. But we want to leave the country with a legacy. It’s not about Mr. President. That is what he’s telling the country.

“It’s about our country and no other choice to democratic tenets than through political party platforms. He’s one of those rare beings around the country, around Africa who had experienced both worlds. He fought a battle to save Nigeria and came to politics to save Nigeria.

“Very rare people have such an opportunity in their life time and that’s what we talk about legacy, and where we have all the challenges, do what we should do. I’m enjoying the challenges so far,” he concluded.

Herdsmen Attack: OPC Begins Action Against Fulanis In Yorubaland

Quote:Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, in Ondo has directed its members to defend the South West against the invasion of Fulani herdsmen.

The State Chairman and Secretary of the group, Victor Olayemi Egbeyemi and Olonimoyo Fesisogbo Pedro directed their members to meet with community leaders, chiefs and security agencies in order to prevent breakdown of law and order.

Rising from a meeting held in Akure, the state capital over the weekend, the group expressed, “worry over the incessant attacks by herdsmen in different parts of the state and asked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to enact a law that would protect farmers against the activities of herdsmen in the state.”

In a statement, Egbeyemi said: “OPC members should get prepared whether there is war or not. The herdsmen kidnapped people in Ore, they attacked the wife of our member in Akure North, and people are fleeing their farms because of the activities of the herdsmen. Chief Olu Falae’s farm was burnt; we should rise up to defend our territories.

“We should not wait until they start to kill our people before we plan to defend them. We want to reorganize ourselves to defend the interest of Yoruba people. Both Aare Adams and Dr Fasehun’s factions must work together in the interest of the people.

“It is high time the Adams and Fasehun factions come together in the state in the interest of the people as the issue before them is beyond the supremacy battle between the two groups. “Both Adams and Fasehun are from the state and their supporters should come together in the interest of the people.”

Senator Shehu Sani & Snake Charmers At JAMB Office Over Snake Swallowing N36M

Quote:Missing N36m: Senator Sani storms JAMB Hdqtrs with snake charmers

The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Sen. Shehu Sani has today stormed the headquarters of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board in Bwari, FCT with snake charmers.

Sani said, the visit, was with a view to getting to the bottom of the issue surrounding the reported case of missing N36 million from the JAMB office in Makurdi, Benue.

Philomena Chieshe, a sales clerk in the JAMB office, Makurdi, told the JAMB registrar and his team that “she could not account for the N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.

“In the course of interrogation, Philomena denied the allegations that she stole the money but confessed that her housemaid connived with another JAMB staff to spiritually (through a snake) steal the money from the vault in the account office”, the report said.

According to Sani, his visit to JAMB is in response to the story that a snake swallowed N36 million.

He lamented that it was of concern that such a huge sum of money was reported to have been swallowed by a snake.

“I believe that the contribution I can make is to bring snake charmers from my constituency to the JAMB office and to help them fish out the snake and weed out snakes from their premises.”

Sani further said that if a snake could actually swallow N36 million, one day Nigerians may wake up to say that a snake had swallowed the country’s foreign reserve.

“I believe that my contribution to JAMB will help them fish out snakes within the office.

“Even if it is a spiritual matter, we believe that these people I brought, they are some of the best snake charmers in the country and they will help in arresting both physical and spiritual snakes if there has been any in the JAMB office.”

He explained that it was very clear the incident did not happen doing the tenure of the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.

“We are very proud of him. We believe he is someone who should continue to man this agency and he is acting in the right direction.

“It is good for Nigerians to know this is what has been happening before he came into office. I believe the best thing we can do is to continue to support him.

“People should understand the story which is very clear and if that is the case, if people, civil servants could have used the opportunity to have been in office to enrich themselves using snake stories.

“It is high time for all Nigerians to know that there may be even dirty things happening in other places but this place has exposed it for us to see the truth and I’m very much happy about that.

“We will continue to support him. And as far as we are concerned the story that public funds could be taken away by some people in the name of snake, it is virtually unacceptable.

Sani thereafter presented cartons of snake repellent and chemicals to the agency.

In his response, the Spokesperson for JAMB, Mr Fabian Benjamin explained that on assumption of duty, the present registrar discovered that there were a lot of loopholes in the sale of scratch cards.

“Before the registrar resumed duty, what we were using to register candidates and all other services was scratch cards.

“We discovered a lot of loopholes, we discovered that staff were exposed to cash and then he stopped the use of scratch cards.

“The registrar thereafter introduced pin vending. After introducing pin vending, it was natural for him to call for audit or stock taking.

“After taking stock it was discovered that in some offices they could not account for what they sold, or the card that was left.

“Ms Philomena Chieshe was entrusted with a number of scratch cards which she sold and N36 million could not be accounted for, when asked she actually said she sold them at the said amount, kept the money in the public vault.

“According to her, a snake swallowed the money.”

Benjamin further explained in the spirit of transparency, inclusiveness and openness the agency felt that Nigerians should know what was happening.

He said Chieshe had been queried and has appeared before a disciplinary committee.

“A report has been written and sent to the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu and as soon as that report is approved, she will either be dismissed or handed over to the security agency for proper profiling.

“At the moment she has been interjected,” Benjamin said.

He also noted that there was a case in Nasarawa State where the staff claimed on his way to submit the cards, he had an accident and the cards got burnt.

#BBNaija: Khloe To Alex “I Will Beat You To Death”
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

So, it looks as if Khloe is fighting Alex over Leo. Yesterday during their Nomination, Biggie nullified all their nominations, and placed all of them on for possible eviction.

The head of house, Khloe had the veto power to save a pair, and she chose to save Leolex (Leo and Alex).

Fast forward to moments later, Khloe and K-Brule started fighting over a drink, and in her usual way, Khloe shouted at KBrule and stated using cuss words.

Alex immediately stood up for KBrule, and then told Khloe to stop cussing out at KBrule..

This of curse later resorted to exchange of words, and Alex threatened to “Beat Alex to death”.. Oh, Alex won the argument..and Khloe went to chill out with a stick of cigarette.

Reno Omokri Talks About Virginity With Fish As Illustration (Photo)
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories

According to Reno Omokri, a virgin will have a tighter relationship with her husband that a lady who has had multiple sexual partners.

I'm sure all the mature people reading this know this is laughable? Preaching about virginity in 2018 is just a little weird. Of course having multiple sexual partners is weirder and crazy, but safe sex in a loving, respectable relelationship with one partner is okay. But please read what he wrote below and tell us if you agree with him...

Quote:Dear women

God made virgins for husbands not boyfriends. Keeping your virginity till marriage is the best gift you can give to a husband. A Virgin is more likely to have a TIGHTER connection with her husband than a LOOSE woman who has had multiple sexual partners #RenosNuggets

"President Buhari In A Trance" – Wole Soyinka
User Avatar Forum: Retired Forums. Please Make Your Post Within The 3 Forums In General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 02-13-2018, 06:36 PM - No Replies

Quote:Revered playwright, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is in a trance.
Soyinka, while reacting to a question on the three things he would tell the President if he meets him, stated, ” I will say Mr. President you are in a trance.”

He added that the sooner the President got out of the trance, the better for the nation.

Asked the form of trance the President was in, the Nobel laureate said, “I don’t know. So many unforced errors. Take for instance the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, reinstated by the President.
“What is that about? What is going on?”

Soyinka had earlier held a press conference in Lagos on the state of the nation titled ‘Nomads and Nation: Valentine card or valedictory rites.’
Details soon.
